I can’t say enough about Toledo. Well worth the day trip via fast train from Madrid, a must! Beautiful historic city, take the red city tour bus so you can listen to the audio of the history and then give yourself plenty of time to wonder. I went end of February, perfect weather, only a light jacket was needed.

A scenic road that leads into Toledo- a look through the lens of the drivers going by is an amazing view. Take a break on the road to take a glance at the breathtaking views that Toledo has to offer, and feel the cool breeze that floats past you. An amazing break spot for a little lunch or snack with an amazing view.

Decided to visit Toledo on a whim on our drive from Madrid to Cordoba. I think our biggest regret wasn't spending a day in Toledo properly walking the city. This place was GORGEOUS and the views were even better. Definitely worth a day trip from Madrid. One of the most underrated places on our trip. Loved loved loved driving through this city, cute and full of culture. There is a LOT of uphill walking so just be aware.

Excellent viewing point of Toledo. Caught the train vision tour for 8 euro which stops here as part of the tour. You can book in the main square. Look for the small pink kiosk. It leaves from a street nearby quite often throughout the day.

A literal breathtaking view. Words can't describe how perfect this view is. If you're going to Toledo, you MUST come to this side of the valley to see the town across the canyon.
It's very quiet and peaceful so you could easily spend an hour just taking in the view. There can be many tourists (myself being one of them) but there is a lot of space along the road for you to setup for your photos.

Fantastic place to see the beauty of Toledo. You can use double deck or "train" but better get a taxi which will cost you less than bus.

Amazing view over the town.
Nice little restaurant near to have a cold beer.
You can buy ticket for a little train or touristic bus to take you there or you can walk (around 30 min - up the hill!)

Perched on the edge of a cliff, this viewpoint provides visitors with a mesmerizing vista that captures the beauty and grandeur of Toledo.
From the Mirador del Valle, visitors can admire the majestic silhouette of Toledo's medieval skyline, with its towering cathedrals, ancient fortifications, and labyrinthine streets. The sweeping vistas extend across the Tagus River valley, showcasing the natural splendor of the surrounding landscape.

Great viewpoint of the beautiful city of Toledo Spain! Not a close walk so recommend taking a hop on hop off bus which will take you to all the tourist spots in the area. Was great to take a bunch of photos in this area. There is a small store selling magnets and other items. 1 item the seller had was a hand painted number paintings which were priced extremely well and only place I saw these in Toledo. This place was worth the bus cost alone let alone the others!

Castillo de Consuegra is a 10th-century castle located on a ridge alongside windmills, offering guided tours and cultural events. Visitors can enjoy the fabulous views and explore the well-preserved town while making their way up to the castle. The experience includes friendly and informative tours, with English-speaking guides available. Due to COVID restrictions, it's recommended to book online in advance.
This is a really fantastic place. We took a slight detour on our way to Cordoba and it was well worth it. The windmills and castle are fabulous and the walk up was fun. There's great motorhome parking at the foot of the hill and you can either take the road or climb directly up the hill on the well trodden informal path. Great views and plenty of windmills to see. The town that you travel through on your way up is also interesting and unspoilt by development. Highly recommended.

Worth driving there to have a look at the olden days windmills and the castle, which was closed, but nevertheless a place to take great pictures.
The small road that leads up to the castle might seems like a one way lane but just proceed and the lane will get wider for 2 cars.

Due to covid restrictions you should ideally book online. 7€ per person gets you into the castle and one of the windmills. Can only enter with tour guide, speaks in Spanish very fast so if you are not fluent you will only get snippets, but, there are boards in 3 languages including English.
Simon Ford — Google review
The visit was fantastic because the castle is a beautiful historical monument and the views from the tower overlooking the windmills was spectacular, but also because our tour guide was excellent! She did a great job. I'm really happy I made the trip.

Wow! What a cool experience (visited 24/5/23). Super friendly tour included in the very cheap 5 euro price. It was only in Spanish but the tour guide talked to me and the two other Americans after each stop in English to give us a recap. Plus, there are informative signs in English everywhere. The views are incredible too - definitely recommend!

You can only go into the castle on a tour, but the guide (Cristina) was extremely kind, accessible, and helped us and our children enjoy our visit. Views are incredible, and the windmills are charming and picturesque.
Great place to spend an afternoon. Really enjoyed watching the mill work from the inside. The inside is only open on the first Sunday of every month so plan accordingly.

Difficult to reach, but if you can get there either by local train or rental car (our option), it's worth the visit. Nice to see small towns in Spain that aren't overrun by tourists and remain true to their own culture. The atmosphere is very calming, as there is almost nothing going on during the day, and the streets are empty. This also means that everything was closed for a couple of hours in the afternoon, presumably for a siesta.
The windmills themselves are magnificent and stand on top of a hill that has a good view of the rest of the town, as well as a landscape of distant mountains beyond.
Tourist Information center spoke little to no English, but were nice, and provided an interior tour of one of the windmills.
Not much else to do in the town except visit the windmills, but it's worth it for a few hours long day trip.

Awesome atmospheric place to visit old windmills and enjoy great views too.
Michael Flory — Google review
These windmills are really well preserved and the area surrounding them very well done. If I compare the visit to the windmills in Consuegra, this visit was more pleasant. There are several bars, cafés and souvenir shops right next to the windmills. We had a coffee and a snack while sitting and admiring the views. The parking area wasn't huge, but they are working on it...this area is in construction and when it is finished, it will be even better. Very good experience overall. If you can only visit one set of windmills on the Don Quijote trail, let it be Campo de Criptana. No tickets needed.

Beautiful location with the best views of the city! These famous windmills have been featured in Don Quixote’s match scene so if you’re a fan of the book, a visit is worth it! It’s free to visit plus some windmills are open sometimes so you can go in and view the inside as well which is fantastic. There are gift shops and restaurants here as well so if you want some original Don Quixote gifts or food, this is a reasonable place to purchase them.

Molinos de Viento de Consuegra is a collection of twelve charming whitewashed windmills dating back to the 19th century, originally used for grinding flour. Situated in La Mancha (Ruta de Don Quijote), this site offers incredible views and a picturesque setting that evokes the spirit of Don Quixote. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty and capture stunning photographs without the crowds, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful excursion.
Visiting the windmills in Consuegra transport yourself for a moment to Don Quixote. A place full of history and magic. You can enjoy a unique view where the photos do not need any filter to be spectacular. This is one of the emblematic points that are part of the Don Quixote route. 100% recommended

Incredible views and scenery of the famous Don Quixote windmills. We arrived before the busses came with tourists and were able to have the place to ourselves. We hired a taxi from Toledo that the tourist information place recommended and it was a return taxi for 95€. Well worth it. The taxi driver was also kind enough to stop in the small community at the bottom for us to take a few pictures. No regrets at all on this excursion and loved that it didn’t include 60 other people on a tour bus.

We visited the “Molinos de Viento de Consuegra” during our trip in La Mancha (Ruta de Don Quijote) in April 2022. It was not crowded and beautiful weather, which I think are the two most important things when you want to visit this place! The view is amazing and the perfect scenery to take some nice picks! We didn’t visit the castle though, because of lack of time…

Great spot to visit if driving from Cordoba to Toledo (or vice versa). Free access to the windmill site, drive all the way up to the end and there are parking spots. You can go inside one windmill if you want to see the interior mechanism. Cost 1.50€ per person. Well worth it for the price.

A great place to stop on the drive from Madrid to Córdoba. Besides the Molinos, the Castilla is worth a visit as well. There is a fee to enter 5€ but the include a fantastic birds of prey exhibit that was very educational and they were great people. There was a guide available for English if needed.
Small national park & migratory bird site, explored by off-road vehicle, Segway or on foot.
Peace, tranquility and surrounded by nature. That is how everyone should spend at least one day every few months! Las Tablas is free, a lovely walk while admiring, small birds, geese, ducks, etc. The trees are amazing! There is a boardwalk to get you over the wetlands safely and to get you as close as you can to admire the scenery. There is a big parking area, restrooms, visitors center, observation area, and plenty of benches along the walk to take a rest if you need too. A wheelchair can make it through with some help (through some dirt areas). This is a very nice National Park which has been under the government's protection for over 50 years. I totally recommend a visit.

It so desperately needs more water to reestablish its glory. What little remains still holds a great compliment of birds, however the majority of the reed beds are now dry.
The reserve is expertly maintained by a dedicated staff. But will it ever return to its former glory? Not with fields of new vines and olives planted sucking water from the water table. Nation help is needed to retain this Spanish treasure!

We visited on a sunny and warm Sunday afternoon at 6pm. There were still 100's of families, couples and guided parties walking round the various routes. We were lucky though to have a guide who was able to explain quite alot in English. The levels of water have fallen due to the dry weather and this has pushed the wildlife further away from the walkways and viewing areas. I suggest you either take a pair of binoculars with you or go on a guided walk that provides them. I think the best time to visit if you want to see as much wildlife and in particular the birdlife is in the mornings and from Monday to Friday as the numbers of people visiting are significantly lower than at the weekends. There are toilets situated at the start of your journey so I would say if you need to go do it before you set off walking. There is also a small shop selling souvenirs as well as snacks, water and ice cream etc. Try to visit in April and May or even earlier as the water levels drop as the summer months approach. On the plus side if you have travelled in a campervan or you are towing a caravan, you can stay overnight in one of the grassed car parks. Remember to bring your own food as Daimiel is about 14km away.👍👍👍👍
Gary Green — Google review
Friendly, helpful lady in visitor centre, who explained the current water shortages and how water is provided to maintain some good habitat for water birds.
On the day, protesters had closed the main road to Daimiel, so I detoured by Villarubio de los Ojos.
I expected Google maps would take me on the minor road to Daimiel town but Google maps was rubbish, taking me along rough farm tracks, told me to turn left onto a field - no tracks within 200m. It insisted on directing me to a hide that is only accessible on foot from the visitor centre, but refused to direct me to the visitor centre.

Bird watching in an easy way. Almost flat and well prepared with walkways over the water takes you to the observation posts. From these wooden cabins it is worth to use long shot photography and telescopes to watch wild life upclose. Big cranes arrived early november this year in numbers.

When visiting Almagro, a trip to the Corral de Comedias is a must. This historic theater dates back to the 17th century and is one of the oldest in the world, alongside its counterpart in Alcala de Henares. The open-air setting, with audiences seated on the ground floor and balconies, provides an authentic experience of classic Spanish theater. Guided tours are available for visitors interested in learning about the venue's rich history and cultural significance.
Came after 17 years to watch the play El burlador de la sardina, as part of the International Classical Theatre Festival directed by Ignacio García. The Corral de Comedias dates back to the XVII century and is, together with the one in Alcalá de Henares, the oldest in the world. These were the first theatres, contemporary of Shakespeare’s original Globe, where people would use the patios between houses to represent plays. If the plays were successful, lots of people came by horse, reason for which you still tell actors and actresses, directors and technical staff, when you’re about to do a play, the phrase “Mucha mierda.”
Anand Enebral — Google review
Classic spanish theater. Offers guided visits. It is an inner "patio" of old houses, where audience occupies the ground floor and the balconies in small wooden chairs. No roof, just covered with some awning to protect from sun (or cold days). Plays are also centuries old. An interesting experience.

Restaurante San Antonio Valdepeñas
$$$$cheap
Bar & grill
Restaurante San Antonio Valdepeñas offers a taste of regional Spanish cuisine and an impressive selection of wines, all within the charming setting of an 18th-century building. The restaurant is highly regarded for its outstanding food, excellent service, and inviting ambiance. Diners can savor a variety of dishes, from exceptional risotto to delectable fish and tapas, complemented by a great wine collection.
The food was excellent, and at a fair price (€17.90 menu with 2 courses, bread, drink and dessert). I couldn't finish my cachopo and was offered to takeout.
Unfortunately the serving time was extremely high (almost 50 minutes waiting until the first dish), but they told us they had a problem at the kitchen and is not the norm. I believe them, and I still rate 5 stars because of the extremely good quality/price ratio. Just beware it's not a place to eat in 40 minutes.

Absolutely outstanding in every way, this place is one of the area's hidden treasures, which, if you're in the area, you cannot afford to miss. Ambiance, service and foodwise, very much worth the kilometers that many endure in order to reserve a table here. An outstanding risotto, great fish, tapas and - as behooves the area - a great wine selection. You will absolutely travel back in order to enjoy the varied items, a-la-carte or in a tapas-style experience. Try it once, and become a lifetime regular. Also great for that business occasion or important event, with an absolutely unbeatable price/quality balance, with which you will undoubtedly surprise your associates and guests. Do call well in advance.-

Ancient and emblematic place. Very well explained during the guided tour, and the historic events that took place during la reconquista. Very recommendable. I expect it will be supported with more resources to maintein and promote such a simbolic place.

You can feel history in places like this. Old convent and castle. The guided visit is a must. The views from the top of the castle are impressive. It was intended to protect the pass to the north from muslims in the south. The road to the castle is really bad. Sharp uneven rocks give an ancient look but also the feel. You can break something in your car. 15minutes for 2km up the hill. Take care.

We thought it was well worth the visit and at €3 person, it's good value for money. You can do an audio guide via your phone or get a guided tour however probably only in Spanish. The frescos are in a good state and there is plenty to take in. Take note of the opening times and if the door is closed then ring the bell for the vigilante.

The place was very beautiful, both for its paintings, sculptures, gardens, etc. What most caught my attention was the comment about the earthquake, the lamps above the door and the origin of the last name BAZAN. I am not releasing a garment so that you can visit him ...

(Translated by Google) An absolute gem of Spanish baroque architecture with an incredible collection of frescoes. I was unaware of the existence of this palace in such a small town. The history of Spain is wonderful (although they insist on not studying it) and from this great sailor Álvaro de Bazán, it is exciting.
I am very grateful to the people who show the museum for their passion and love in telling it. You only charge the will of three euros, of course I recommend giving at least €10.
You have to find out about the schedules, they usually teach in groups at o'clock.

A great museum with fantastic displays and information about the battle. The setting is amazing too on the edge of the natural park. From the reconstructed keep you can get amazing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside where the battle took place.
Jeff Miller — Google review
If you know nothing of the medieval conflict between the Christians and Muslims, and you like learning just the mere outline of history, then perhaps you'll benefit from this "museum". However, there was only a handful of artifacts, and a bunch of reproductions of clothing and armaments, and the audio and written descriptions were thin. To learn about the battle, Wikipedia had much better info. The bathrooms were nice.
Cola Sasha — Google review
Made for kids who don't know what a sword or an arrow is. Not even good for the basics of what the medieval ages were. Innacurate replicas on display, and you can't even see the battleground from the lookout tower
Marc Gargante — Google review
I found it very interesting with audio guide. 4 euros for the entrance fee which is at the top end for value I suppose, but then the girl on the desk was very helpful and friendly.
I recommend it if you have some time, there is a play area for children and a cafe. Also at times archery. You need about an hour and half to listen to everything and time to take in the views from the tower.

Booked and paid online just a day before for our visit on 7 May. There were only two other people visiting at the same time. Our guide (a young blonde haired girl from Baños de la Encina) was very enthusiastic. She spoke solidly for more than half an hour, then gave us time to look around by ourselves. The tour was in Spanish. I didn't ask if there was an English option and can understand that it would take twice as long to do it in two languages. It would be nice if there was a paper copy of some key points in English for foreigners whose Spanish isn't fluent. We loved the castle and would definitely recommend the tour. There is a large public car park just below the castle, near the tourist information office.

Calle Sta. María, 1, 23711 Baños de la Encina, Jaén, Spain
The Sinagoga del Agua, a 14th-century Jewish synagogue, has been unearthed in a real estate project. The property developer intended to build apartments but instead discovered the archaeological remains of the synagogue and rabbis house. Original masonry was used whenever possible for the sensitive re-creation of this fascinating historical site, which features a women's gallery, bodega with giant storage vessels and miqve (ritual bath).
Fascinating to learn about the history of this place! A true gem.

This is a fascinating place to visit. Previously hidden synagogue and small houses discovered during building works and restored as well as they could. The guides are very friendly and informative. We have been twice and the option of an English explanation has never been mentioned but obviously that doesn't mean they don't do it! We are fine with Spanish but it may not suit some foreign visitors. Well worth visiting.

Sandi Sullivan -Varga — Google review
Interesting guided visit for €5 of a fairly recently rediscovered medieval synagogue, or so it is believed. Developers of three adjacent buildings in 2006 found a basement with huge earthenware vases half sunk into the ground, all covered in sand and debris. Further excavations revealed a number of wells in adjacent cellars that were full of rubble, and a perfectly preserved large rectangular ceremonial bath down seven steps, all carved out of solid rock inside what must have been a prehistoric cave created by underground streams. Also a number of arches, columns and architectural features including a double prayer gallery as used by women in synagogues, above a central space that would have been used by men. Archaeologists concluded that during medieval and renaissance times this building had indeed been used as a clandestine synagogue during periods when the Jewish faith was persecuted in Spain.

Stupid that it costs you more to order the tickets online than at the door. And no effort is done by the cassièrre / guide to speak anything else than Spanish. The French and English texts don't explain a lot, are quiet rubbish. The whole visit is done very speedy, you are not allowed to take your time to admire anything. Definitely, in those circumstances, not worth the money.

Most disappointed. We paid our entry fee. No audio guide. There was a spanish tour starting. We were obliged to join it. We were then told we could not proceed ahead of the tour, which was in spanish only, and taking 15-20 minutes per room. We left. We asked for our entry fee back. After consultation with the tour guide, this request was granted!!!! So we wasted 45 minutes and saw the 1st room only.
What a ridiculous bunch of clowns!

Guadix is a town in the province of Granada that occupies part of an elevated plateau among the northern foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
When I visited the town I thought it a rather quirky sort of place. I had driven there from Almería and as I approached the town it appeared to be set amidst a lunar landscape. The town centre is conventional enough. The Cathedral with its Baroque tower looked impressive from the outside but inside I felt that it was rather dark and gloomy. It stands in the Plaza de Constitución and this area of the town, the Barrio de Santiago, has many fine buildings.
There are two other districts in Guadix - the Barrio de Santa Ana and the Barrio de la Cuevas. The Barrio de Santa Ana is the old Moorish quarter that consists of a network of narrow alleyways with whitewashed house, decked out with floral arrangements. However, the most famous feature of the town is the cave dwellings in the Barrio de la Cuevas where around half the population live. When I visited the area, I thought that I was in a scene from 'The Lord of the Rings'! It was just like 'The Shire' - with little white chimneys poking out of the ground! The caves are not primitive dwellings, however but are a solution to the fierce heat of the Andalucian summer. The interior of the cave houses are cool in summer and warm in winter and have all the necessities of modern living - it is quite strange seeing television aerials on the little hillocks!

This chocolate shops sells so many different types of dark, milk, and white chocolate that you wouldn't find anywhere else, at a very good price at about €1.50 for a small bar.
The chocolate is fantastic quality and I loved the variety such as blueberry and banana.
There is an English menu on the reverse of the Spanish menu which is very helpful when ordering. The staff were very accommodating around the language barrier but were friendly and welcoming.
You also get a small packet of testers which I liked, although this does contain a piece with nuts.
They also sell milkshakes and ice cream in a wide variety of flavours.
The kitchen is behind the counter, where they make the chocolate, and there is information about the chocolate in the entry hallway, although this is in Spanish.
I would not describe the shop to be wheelchair friendly as it is underground and the slope to it is quite steep.

(Translated by Google) Very close to Granada and distributed between the provinces of Granada and Almería. Steep landscapes and very typical and pleasant towns. Many rural houses in all the towns of the Alpujarra. With its characteristic architecture. In Lanjarón, there is also a lot of hotel options, thanks to the spa and being a good starting point for visiting the area.
The most typical towns are Pampaneira, Buión and Capileira, which can be visited on the same day, although if you like hiking it is a good place to stay and take routes from there. Spectacular views from these towns in the Sierra Nevada and you can see Pico Veleta and Mulhacén. Very picturesque towns dedicated to tourism and crafts. From Capileria, the highest town in the ravine, there are impressive views.
If you go through the Alpujarras, be sure to visit Trevélez, one of the highest towns in Spain, and eat in one of its restaurants with a view of the valley. Ham is typical in this town. You can also order Alpujarreño dish, a hearty dish not suitable for all stomachs, but those who like it will repeat.
The roads are worthy of mention, escaped ravines, impressive curves, viewpoints that leave you breathless...

(Translated by Google) Breathtaking scenery. It is also worth taking a detour to the town of Trevelez, where you can buy delicious ham made there. However, the pork for the ham does not come from the area, but from all over Spain, as we were told. This is because the Alpujarras are under special protection and keeping pigs is forbidden... the ham still tastes great! :-)

Atemberaubende Landschaft. :-)
The Rio Chíllar is a beautiful and popular hiking destination in the summer. It's full of waterfalls and rapids, making it a great activity for locals to do during the warm weather. The river can get very crowded during weekends, so be prepared for lots of people on the trails. However, it's well worth it to see all the different waterfalls and rapids that this river has to offer.
For 5s and under
1. Wear solid running shoes/ trainers/ sneakers or good Tevas. Not river shoes which do not have sufficiently thick soles and you will have insufficient grip and sore feet
2. Drive till come to metal barrier then find nearest parking, cause the 'parking lots' are actually about half kilometer walk away
3. There are bamboo sticks near entrance but if have weak knees or ankles maybe bring your own hiking stick
4. Go in morning and expect, even with shortest walk, to spend about 4-5 hours
5. Carry at least a litre water for each person, 1.5 ltr if its hot; and food- fruit, sandwiches, cheese, chocolate, chips
6. Bring backpack with towel and change of shorts etc if you do not want to remain in wet clothes
7. If there is bad weather and especially heavy rain Do Not Go

A fine trail, though disappointing at the end, definitely not spectacular :)The end of the trail is not obvious and can be easily missed! I recommend to start your journey early, we were there at 7:30 and it was perfect, without sun bothering us. If you're going there make sure you have good walking shoes on, with hard sole, otherwise the walk back on these rocks will be unbearable :)
Dominika Maria Szmyt — Google review
Nice place to walk. Take shoes with you that can get wet because they will get wet on this walk through the river.
Bill Wilde — Google review
This walk is great. Walking through the stream on a hot day is fab. We've done this walk a few times, and are always surprised when we see young children, its not an easy walk. In some places the water can get quite deep, and you have to watch every step as there's rocks and boulders in the water. In saying that, it's a great walk, takes a few hours, but plenty of places to stop for a picnic, and a great waterfall to see.

Perfect path in unique nature. Highly reccomended. Just make sure you have water and food. Also comfy shoes, which probably you will have to throw away after this trip. We tried water shoes - managable, but not recommended, felt all stones… No connection. As well no signs, just follow the river. Cars can be left in normal parking, then distance to path start ~15-20min. I saw some cars parked near the path start, not sure if it’s legal.

A fun and beautiful day out with the whole family! Its weird to walk with your shoes in the water at first but the view is amazing :) you gave to be careful and have a good balance. It can be dangerous but you can always turn around when you're done with the walk!

Wonderful adventure, it takes a good 3-4 Hours there, plan on going early morning as it takes the entire day, its wise to wear comfortable trainers, pack a lunch & plenty of water to drink. Wouldn't advise anyone to go if they are unfit or have medical issues as it bcomes rather dangerous at times climbing slippery boulders.
Glenda Harvest — Google review
It's such an amazing experience to come here, not only for hikers but also for people that really enjoy nature, however be careful when walking this route because you could end up hurting yourself. Also the amount of water in the river or waterfalls you're going to see is going to be different depending in which season you're going to come here but besides that it's pure magic.

This historic, trapezoid-shaped castle on a rocky hill offers sweeping ocean views from its towers.
Fantastic for a quick visit not to expensive tickets at only 4€ per person.

Good for a 45-60 minute visit as it's not too big. Nice views of the sea on one side and mountains on the other. There were information tablets along a route set in the castle, but they only described the architecture rather than the history.
Mattias Hallberg — Google review
Walk through the maze of narrow streets to the top of the hill to find this castle. Restored walls make for an interesting walk through. There are no relics to speak of as it isn’t a museum but there are audio tours available to describe what you are seeing. The views of course are spectacular in any direction from the tops of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the north to the beautiful shoreline of the Mediterranean Sea. The man selling tickets (4 euros) was pleasant and informative.

I may be partial because the Alhambra is 15 minutes walk from my house but this fortress lacks a lot. It's beautiful from below but once you are in all that's really beautiful are the views below. There is a section labeled Arab baths but it's mostly covered by later patios. 4 euros for each adult.

Do not be lazy to climb up the mountain and see the stunning view of the cozy town, the marvelous sea and beautiful mountains. The castle is well maintained, all necessary information is available. The legend of the castle is beautiful and magnificent. If you are lucky as i were you will feel and see the soul of Zorahaida in a butterfly messenger.

The Nerja Caves are a spectacular cave complex located 4km east of Nerja in the Costa del Sol region of southern Spain. The caves were not discovered until five local men stumbled across an opening in 1959, and they are now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Costa del Sol. The cave complex is filled with fascinating rock formations, subtle shifting colors, and stalactites and stalagmites that evoke the look and feel of a submerged cathedral.
Amazing place 🤩A fabulously beautiful cave. I have never seen such a great cave hall before. Totally monumental rock formations. Like from some fairy tale. Perfect place for some fantasy movie. I highly recommend visiting this cave. Don't miss it.

Very interesting site. Crowds limited and well managed allowing room to move at your own pace, take photos and listen to the commentary. Download the audio guide prior to arrival to save others waiting behind while you sort out your issues. Make time for the virtual reality experience. It is short but very entertaining. Beat the crowd on the tourist train by booking an early spot.

Makes for an excellent half day visit! The caves are fantastic - huge, and with a very interesting tale of how they were found and of the people who lived there in prehistoric times. A tour of the caves will take about 40 minutes to an hour, but there is quite a bit more to see and do. The virtual reality show is definitely not to be missed!
Malcolm Cliff — Google review
Totally fascinating caverns! It's a good idea to ensure you have the audio guide downloaded & ready to play. There are many steps, but there are some benches to rest along the way. It's quite warm deep in the cave so you won't need your coats.

Cueva de Nerja is not just a cave. It is a complex where you can have a good time, including a picnic area and a children's playground, a museum and a VR room. Large parking lot - price 2 euros (pay with coins when leaving)
The cave is very well equipped, safe and very cool. You need to download the audio guide and listen to the information on your own according to the numbers that are clearly visible in each hall.
Entrance costs 17.50€ at the entrance or 15.50€ when you buy online.
It is possible to visit the cave for free... every day there are 60 free tickets for 09.30. Tickets must be ordered on the website and received 48 hours before visiting the cave. This ticket includes a visit to the Nerja Museum, which is located in the center of Nerja

Beautiful deep caverns full of surprises! The chambers get more stunning as you walk through. It's worth a visit to the VR area. This really enhanced our visit, and the restaurant was super, too.
It was quite busy so would recommend booking in advance.

Loved our experience here. I had never visited a cave like this and was really impressed. Make sure the audio guide is downloaded to your phone before in full because there won't be wifi in the cave! They try to take photos of you and a tourist item and have you buy it at the end. If you don't want it anyway just refuse the photo at the beginning

By far one of the most exciting place I've ever been. It's a giant natural cave completely hidden from the ground.
Highly recommended.
There wasn't so much queue but tickets can be purchased online.
Remember to download the guide before getting down the cave. obviously there is no internet connection down there.
Not for people with disability.
Andrea Paindelli — Google review
I had a decent experience. The cave formations were interesting to see, but I felt that the lack of storytelling detracted from the overall experience. It was a bit difficult to fully appreciate the history and significance of the cave. That being said, the natural beauty of the cave formations is still worth seeing and they are magnificent, and if you're in the area it's worth a visit. However, if you're looking for an immersive and educational experience, I think there still needs a lot to be done.

Awe inspiring caves - gigantic structures, better than expected. not accessible for wheelchairs or buggies. Lots of steps.

Absolutely must see if on a visit to Malaga, the caves are astonishing, photos can't capture the intricate beauty of this natural work of art. The virtual reality room experience was amazing. Toilet facilities are clean and the view from the restaurant located on site is breathtaking.

Too long queues. Got train up and back €4. Too far down obviously have to climb back up very steep steps. Lots of people sweating like a fat kid at an all you can eat buffet. No mention of this for us "young uns" . In my opinion €18 entrance fee is far too much. The sales person said" including the train there and back and doing the caves should take 2 hours. Train ride 15 minutes, inside Cave no more than 7 minutes. Train ride back 15 minutes.

The Cueva de Nerja caves are known for their stunning stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the prehistoric cave paintings. It serves as a popular tourist attraction and a site of scientific interest. Plenty parking in February and the caves were warm enough lots steps to climb so won’t be suitable for those with breathing issues and mobility issues - there is a virtual reality show in a building to right of ticket booth please don’t miss this absolutely amazing show you actually feel your taken back 40000 years I personally wish I’d gone into this before entering caves as it gave you a better understanding of the actual caves - beautiful restaurant botanical gardens and toilets - little picnic area in gardens the entrance fee is excellent value at approximately 17 euros

Great place to bring your family. There are plenty of things for kids to do beyond just the cave, which was interesting. The second chamber is pretty cool. But there is also a restaurant and activities for the whole family. It was very clean and well organized.

A must visit attraction when you're nearby. A spectacular cave with plenty of unique elements. What's interesting is that this cave was discovered not so long time ago. It also has very nice facilities, including a playground for kids (probably the best one in Nerja).

Simply stunning and awe inspiring place to see. The huge rock formations have to be seen to be believed. And to think it took millions of years to look like that. Audio guide or no audio guide it’s a fabulous photo opportunity. Acres of space to move and well lit. Well priced too. And you get a nice photo to take away. Nice walking distance to Nerja.

Wasn't expecting this at all!! You really go deeper and deeper into the cave and it's fascinating to stare at the cave structure. For me, I really enjoyed it but I did have to adjust for the first 5 minutes because I felt somewhat claustrophobic, however, once you do down further there is a lot of space. Do not do this if you have any issue with stairs, you will be walking down and up a lot of stairs. It's also quiet hot in the cave so dress appropriately.
Sinead Kennedy — Google review
Absolutely incredible sight to see! I was hesitant in going as I thought a cave system wouldn’t be as fun but I was completely wrong. The cave is massive and is really beautiful, a lot of history in these caves since they were discovered and the surrounding areas (Botanical Garden and mountain trails) make it even better. If you are staying in Nerja or even south Spain please go and visit as you won’t be disappointed!
Jago Clark — Google review
There's no doubt that the caves are impressive. It's worth the trip just to look at the stalagmites, stalactites, and various other rock formations. If you expect to see cave paintings, you will be disappointed. The caves have a cyanobacterium that grows in the presence of artificial light that would be necessary to see the paintings. Were they to light the paintings, the bacterium would destroy them.
Rod T. — Google review
The caves of Nerja are a must see while visiting. They are super impressive and I can definitely recommend getting the audio guide as you will hear the history of the place. It has a lot of steps and you will go down quite a bit. I recommend buying the tickets online and in advance. We looked the tickets up online and they cost €15.00, you have to book a timeslot though. We didn’t do that and payed for them directly at the counter and paid €17.00 per ticket. Therefore, I recommend buying them online.
Cheyenne Blatter — Google review
Average €80 entrance price. It was a beautiful cave but I'm not sure it was worth the price for a family of 5. They charge additional for the photo they take just before you enter. But the grounds are kept very well. They have facilities inside the area. Beautiful lighting inside for viewing geological structures. It took maybe 20 minutes to see the whole thing.
Marcelina — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! Booked tickets online that included the train ride from Nerja. Go early in the day if you also want to do the 2 hour hike from the park. We didn’t have time,as there was only one last return train on the schedule at the end of the day. The caves are spectacular. Be sure to download the app so you can listen to the podcast! Really incredible to be underground for so long and see so much!

Overrated, overcrowded, and overpriced!
Standing in a que for over an hour in a cave!
And on top of that, the personel had the biggest attitude. When taking a picture, we've got rudely being told to move on and if not obeyed to be kicked out.
I expected more.. See the pictures of what to expect.

It's one of the prettiest caves I have seen and a great place to visit during the stay in Nerja, however I felt like there were a little too many human changes made to the natural structure of the cave. I prefer a little less lights, stairs, tiles and wooden railings.

Great small family owned rum distillery with long history. Was given a private tour by Teresa. Very impressed with her story about the distillery. She is extremely friendly and approachable. Tasted their rum and bought a fine bottle too. Will definitely drop by again in future.

A great visit to this rum distillery on the road out of Motril beaches. About a 25 minute walk.
We booked the English tour (daily at1pm) Spanish speaking tour at 12pm. We booked but apparently this isn’t necessary.
The tour is really informative and built well on the knowledge we had gained from visiting the sugar processing museum in Motril. Theresa was an excellent, knowledgeable and informative guide.
The tour lasts about 1 hour and concluded with a tasting of 3 rums produced which were lovely! Opportunities to purchase are offered but are in no way pushed or expected.
I really enjoyed the feeling of independence and community that the distillery presented and will always look out for this brand on future visits to Andalucía. Thank you.

A small but formidable family run distillery. I was privileged to attend a privately hosted party here where we were given an enhanced tour of the facility and were plied with unlimited drinks and Iberian ham. Their light and dark rums offer quite different, but equally palatable, tasting notes and are particularly suited to cocktails and as a mixer drink. The Montero family are lovely and vibrant. Understandably, they are deeply passionate and proud of their heritage. The distillery is a fascinating place and is well worth the visit to see how rum on a smaller scale is produced.

This is an interesting and informative tour, easily accessible, tastefully and professionally done! The guide, Teresa, is outstanding! We had German, Swedish, and American guests in the crowd, and she was fluent and understandable in English, but was able to personalize the tour for everyone by speaking a little in both German and Swedish, as well! Well done!! It is a tour well worth taking. The tour is free (Spanish language at 1200h, English language at 1300h-don't be late), and be sure to bring some money to purchase at least one type of the rum!

Definitely worth a visit for the tasting!
A "tour" in English is available here and gives you an overview of how they make rum and some history of the now defunct sugar cane industry in Spain.
There isn't a huge amount to see but the guide was very interesting and tells about the Montero family. There is tasting at end of tour and the rum is very good, the 10 year more like a good single malt whiskey it's really worth trying!
Chris Hill — Google review
We enjoyed a very informative visit to Ron Montero, kindly given by Teresa. There are fewer visitors at the moment due to C19 - but this meant we had more choice of times and the full attention of the guide.
There's a lot of information to absorb but Teresa was very good at explaining everything, and the tastings at the end were generous. The products are available to buy at prices matching local supermarkets, so it's a good place to get yours (ours came in attractive presentation bags too).

All the Costa del Sol is covered by concrete all the way from Marbella to Nerja, at the end of this beach is where the real costa begins. There is still some nature, rocks, and cliffs left. This beach is certainly a combination of both; some tourist services and beautiful cliffs with unspoiled views.

One of the more popular beaches in Nerja! All the amenities are on the doorstep, Merendaros, a variety of restaurants and bars, small shops and a Kayak business! The beach is very clean as is the sea... We had a lovely day today but chose to picnic as it is quite an expensive area to eat in. This area is accessed by VERY steep roads and pathways but it does lend itself to beautiful views of the mountains xx

Lovely beach, we visited in the off season, early March and it was quiet, not crowded at all and still very warm. Plenty of parking available for free just on the beach, also restaurants opened too, La Baraca was so good for BBQ, and showers to clean your feet going out of the beach. Great beach for pebble combing too and water was super clean!

Clean & tidy, but not a golden sandy beach, quite shingle, full of stones , not great for kids as can't build sandcastles. It's not my ideal. Plenty of restaurants, not so much bars. Quite hilly, not for faint hearted.

No boring strip with buildings, hotels and stores but a Cosy boulevard with mountain hills that makes for really relaxt beach experience. You have to go there to feel the vibe.

Lovely beach with lots to do and different restaurants all overlooking the beach. There is pebbles while walking into the sea so might be useful to wear swimming socks. The waves and the rip currents were quiet strong when we went to go swimming so I would advise to be mindful with children. Depending on where you are staying, there was a steep hill back up to our accommodation so consider this if you have mobility needs. Overall, a lovely spot and I really enjoyed my evening swims.

This was a return for me, I went here with my parents 50 years ago, I remember some. Nerja is a beautiful place full of life. This beach used to be at the end of a goat track. No hotels but it still has charm. Recommend for sure
