How long is the drive from Kuressaare to Tallinn?
The direct drive from Kuressaare to Tallinn is 137 mi (220 km), and should have a drive time of 3 hrs 39 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Kuressaare to Tallinn, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Kaali meteoriitika ja paekivimuuseum and Angla, or the ever-popular Kaali Crater.
The top stops along the way from Kuressaare to Tallinn (with short detours) are Estonian Open Air Museum, Tallinn Zoo, and Kaali Crater. Other popular stops include Haapsalu Castle, Angla, and Old Town guest apartment.
Kaali Crater is a historic site located in Saaremaa, housing 9 meteorite craters that date back to approximately 1450 BCE. The island only has one registered meteorite collision, making this location incredibly unique and of significant interest to those fascinated by natural history. Additionally, the crater boasts a sacred lake which was used for ritualistic purposes. The scenery surrounding the area is lovely and visitors can observe fish surviving through harsh winters in the pond at the bottom of the crater.
Really good place those intrested in naturalhistory. Scenery is nice and there were fish in the pond at the bottom of the crater, how they survive trough the winter?!

Must visit. Truly unique sight - the meteorite crater is large enough to have an impact on the visitor and small enough to grasp the force and uniqueness of the event some 3-4,000 years ago. Visit also the visiting centre and museum to understand more of the impact and the cultural influence it had on people witnessing and later - when iron was found - benefiting from the event. There is a nice walkpath on the height surrounding the crater, and one can walk down to the waterline.

A meteorite crater in the middle of the island of Saaremaa.
There are only 188 registered meteorite collisions in our planet and one is in Saaremaa.
The place is very cool imagine that is 4000 years old.

Nice place but smells a little pee on the bottom, walking around the top was fun

If you are into meteors, then it is a must-visit for you. There is a nice path way along the crater.

Very nice place to visit. A beautiful park where you can walk arou d the crater. There were some stairs but even with a stroller it was accessible most of the time. Just gping down the last steps next to the crater we had to leave the stroller.
There was an interesting info board in Estonian and English explaining the history of the crater and nature around. Overall a fun place to visit!

Kaali is the collective name for a cluster of nine meteorite crater lakes in the village of Kaali on the Estonian island of Saaremaa. The cluster formation is dated to shortly after 1530–1450 BCE.

Unless you are into meteors and stuff this is not a must visit. If you are in the island which has very relaxing nature about it, you can go check this out place as well. This place has a nice path around for a walk but it's very small. If you have time to spend in the island this is ok to visit but if not I wouldn't bother.

It’s a round hole in the ground. A cool one, but it’s still a hole. With water in it. Most of the time.
In March’s breath, a dance of chill and warmth—
Whispers of wind, like forgotten secrets, swirled around me.
Children, like sun-kissed leaves, laughter-laden, filled the air.
Solitude sought, yet found in fleeting moments.
And so, I stepped away, carrying memories of that windy day.
In the company of many, I found solace.
And there is no warm food near by. 😔
Hardi Jaksi — Google review
Museum itself has only one room, but a lot of items. For the price, it could be interesting. The meteor crater is worth seeing.
Edvinas ?taupas — Google review
The area is very quiet and the crater has nothing special, but it is nice to hang out there and be around nature.
Joel Jové — Google review
There are 9 meteorite craters, I only went to see one. There is a big parking lot and museum there. Visiting the crater is free.
Elizabeth Toney — Google review
The crater is impressive. Seeing the crater costs nothing and there is a parking lot available.
Apparently the water level raises and lowers throughout the year.

I felt in love with Muhu! It's not only the people, the nature or the magic on this tiny island. It's also this museum which makes this island worth to visit. If you want to get to know more about the history of this island, you should visit it. The people who are working at this museum know a lot and they are always willing to answer your questions. So put this Muhu muuseum on your bucketlist, and you will not regret it! (actually i wanted to give 6 stars, but only 5 stars were possible ;) )

The Railway and Communications Museum, located near the central bus station in Haapsalu, is a must-visit attraction for anyone on holiday in the area. This museum showcases a collection of Soviet-era train engines, some of which are well-preserved while others are in various states of disrepair. The sight of these locomotives not only evokes nostalgia but also offers fantastic opportunities for photography enthusiasts. Additionally, the museum's wooden train station stands as a remarkable piece of architectural beauty.
Very interesting museum! I was welcomed today by a very friendly lady, and had a very nice talk with her, even with my bad estonian.. Although we had a bit of a language barrier, I am thankful that she tried her best to make my visit pleasant, and that I receive good informations. If she ever reads this comment, I just want to say, suur tänu! Greetings from Šveits :)
Kiirimaa — Google review
The rail from Tallinn to Haapsalu still ran when I was a kid, but I doubt it stopped at that specific station on arrival.
Which is a pity as its probably the nicest looking one we have in this country.
In any case, the museum itself is fine, but the main thing is the trains outside (mostly climbable, except the cool one you want to climb on. That one they fenced away with some very aesthetic wire fencing) and the building. The boarding area is great for sitting on the edge in the sun and eating Hesburger, which, surprising myself the most here, is one of the finest dining establishments in the city.
But be aware that when the museum closes, the bathroom closes so you have a real treat waiting for you on the urinating side of things after that.
At the time we found ourselves in this predicament, we went looking for the bathroom in the main building to find it closed, but there were a group of homeless looking people inside who gently pointed us towards a portable bathroom outside. While that one doesn't cost money, it does take what it's owed in olfactory suffering. Breathe in deep, relax to conserve oxygen and work fast. You'll get through it.
When you come from Hesburger you could bring some extra chicken nuggets or something. The crows love it and you'll make friends in no time. I believe they actually remember me. Or they just welcome everyone with a loud screeching chorus.
And if you would be so kind, do not press the button on the wall in the waiting area, it's supposed to make train sounds but the speakers are broken so everyone just has to suffer through several minutes of loud, senseless noise.
Markus Lippus — Google review
The communication museum contains an eclectic collection of phones, radios, gramophones and TVs from different eras. The railway museum exhibits photographs and miscellaneous railway paraphernalia. Outside, on the rails of the former train station, there’s a collection of older locomotives and wagons. Sadly, most of them are in a pretty deplorable state (very rusty, partly disintegrated and some vandalised). The entry is 5€ for both museums; the outdoor area as well as the platform and parts of the building can be accessed for free. Be aware that most description texts are only in Estonian.
Benjamin Baumgartner — Google review
Interesting place to visit it with your family, to show your kids some old artifacts and explain how it worked in our childhood. It is not expansive, so come and spend some time here.
Igors Jancenko — Google review
Great if you're into trains. Some very decent locomotives, but actually the wooden train station itself is a piece of beautiful architecture. The trains look especially beautiful in the evening/sunset light. Pity that they are not covered and therefore are exposed to rain.
Would say one of the highlights of Haapsalu.
Igors Kasjanovs — Google review
This place is one of the biggest highlights of Haapsalu. There are many soviet era train engines, both junk and semi-conserved one, which look beautiful as well as remind of the years gone by. If you are into photography, you can get some great shots here. The Läänemaa tervesitee also brings one here when coming by bike.
Aayush Jaiswal — Google review
This is an fantastic historic building that served as the main railway station in Haapsalu.
Construction started in May 1904 of the main wooden building, with limited train service starting in December 1904.
The railway station has several buildings: the passenger terminal, a train control pavilion, a terrace with roof and a covered platform with a total length of 216 metres.
It was designed by architect Karl Verheim and engineer V. Vestfalen, with final construction taking place during 1905–1907.
Today is serves as a train and communication museum.
Trains are not in the best condition.
Eric Pettersson — Google review

Haapsalu Castle is a partially ruined medieval bishop's castle that offers a variety of attractions, including a museum, church, playground, and viewing platform. Despite its turbulent past, the castle is well-preserved and features an interactive museum with old clocks and medieval armors. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views from the tower and relax at the beautiful terrace cafe. The castle provides an interesting history lesson with examples both inside and outside the museum.
Beautiful place and feels very sacred here to visit the castle! Even in winter, everything is frozen, ice everywhere and the view from the little tower outside was def worth it to climb.
We could also hear the white lady singing… at a very secret spot.

I really wanted to give a five star review here but to be honest I was disappointed. I will try and do a pros and cons outline:
Pros
*Nice castle, not the grandest but still pretty impressive.
*Superb renovation work, well laid out (superb) and professional set up.
*Great amenities-toilets, cafe, wheelchair friendly, shop, parking, nearby beautiful town.
*Cannot comment regarding audio language but English signage is great.
Cons
*The signage is on reflective glass backing onto stone. With all the other good work done on the renovation they must have put a muppet in charge of this decision. Most of the signs are hard to read 🤦.
*The exhibits are okay…’but’ they are simply not many of them.
I would have given 4* if you got rid of the two cons. In my castle world a 5* rating would be world class. 3* here is a good result.
*Cost. €12 for adults is expensive.

(Translated by Google) In my search, I put on a kohvik, driving along the highway to Saaremaa, and ended up in a wonderful castle, which at some time belonged to Prince Orlov. After the death of Grigory Orlov, Russian Empress Catherine II bought this castle and turned it into a prison. There she wanted to imprison her son Pavel, but the blow prevented her plans. And after the death of the empress, the castle was returned to the descendants of Bishop Reinhold Buxhoeveden. However, this did not bring happiness to this family. And after the fire of 1840, the Buxhoeveden generation restored the castle in the neo-Gothic style, paying tribute to fashion. Now its towers were decorated with jagged and lancet openings.
Subsequently, the history and nature of the castle was described in his paintings by N.K. Roerich.

К. Рерих.

One of the more important light houses to see in Estonia. For sure recommend.

Just a ruin but what a ruin. You can climb stairs, enjoy views, hide in cellars, learn a lot about history. Very nice shop.

Visiting it was free until they made it paid under pretext of "restauration" while actually mostly adding souvenir shops and more other tourist attraction. Greed! Avoid those m*********s, dont visit it, you are just used!
And oh yea, i liked it when i visited it when was child, and young and last time some 7-8 years ago. But now some greedy /(&%/& decided to make money out of it.

If old ruins are not your thing, then don't go, because you'll see nothing else. It was fairly interesting to me.
This monastery belonged to Cisterian monks, who were very austere. Don't expect any art. They had places to eat, sleep, pray and work, and that's what you'll see.

Very large, totally free, open (zero security) historic site to wander around. Includes a 5-story tower with spiral staircase to climb. There are a reasonable number of signs in 4 languages (English, Russian, German, and French, I believe) explaining the site's history. Huge, and full of interesting rooms to explore. I'm an impatient traveler who walks fast, and it took me 45 minutes to wander the site. Not remotely wheelchair friendly. Lots of parking. Food and services available at the hotel 100 meters away. One of the larger/more interesting castles I toured in the Baltic region, free, and open 24/7 (there's no one around to "close" it).

▶️ Padise Monastery is the oldest (from 13th century) and and in my opinion the most prominent architectural monument in medieval Harju County.
💥 During the Livonian War, the monastery was used as a fortress.
In 1622, the then ruler of Estonia donated the monastery to King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden and the land belonging to it to the cathedral Thomas Ramm of Riga, who moved with his family to Padis.
The monastery church was rebuilt into a residential building. The Ramm family lived in the monastery until 1766, when it caught fire in a thunderstorm.
The monastery was never restored, but the construction of a new manor house was started next to the monastery.
Today it's a really nice museum worth a visit 👍

This is a fascinating place. Now privately owned, this former prison/quarry is now a brilliant venue for rather odd days out.
We visited in November, so bought a ticket online and then called the number on the gate when we arrived. They then open the gate remotely. In the summer the gate has staff on it who will check tickets etc.
There’s now about 20/25 motorhome spaces that can be rented here in the season with electric hookup, water, toilets and other services. €25 per night in 2023.
The quarry buildings are submerged in the crystal clear water and there’s a “beach” made from what has eroded from the huge waste heap that towers over the site, with it’s steep, eroded gullies.
The prison is next door and needs a separate ticket.
It’s the kind of place that wouldn’t exist in many other countries, but it’s a great place to go and experience.

Nice place to swim and explore around. Not far from Tallinn, it's not that expensive to visit. There's toilets, bar, remember there being inflatable course on water, I believe you can rent kayak. I visited in summer.

Visited in Winter (December). Completely covered in snow. Staff were able to postpone my purchase of tickets with no problem after I mis followed purchase instructions. They respond to emails immediately.
In winter, the place is extremely abandoned. There are no guides or signs to explain anything. You're basically given unrestricted access to this abandoned area. Not what we expected, but interesting nonetheless.

A very interesting destination less than an hour's drive from Tallinn.
You should familiarize yourself with the interesting history of the place in advance. At least I myself never found any brochure or anything else that would have told about the history.
The water of the lake is incredibly clear and you can easily get to know it by renting a boat or a standup paddleboard. The place is also a diver's paradise.
The price level is affordable, so it is well suited as a low-budget travel destination for the whole family.
The service was good and the employees in the area were friendly and cheerful. Several of them were at work on the first day and it caused some small problems and they were solved just fine in the end.
If I could give a little criticism about the lack of signs. There were no opening hours at the gate and there was a bit of conflicting information on the internet.

This place is very cool but not worth €5 per person. It was really interesting to see, but seriously not worth the money. We did go in winter and it might be marginally better in summer. It was extremely muddy when we went. The view from the top was nice. I wish I would have come when it was free.

Very beautiful place! In my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in Estonia. You can climb up the mountain to see a gorgeous view of the surroundings. My friend asked me to write a review about the food at Laitse Loss, but I decided instead to explain to the people on google why I love like to love so much. Laitse-Loss refills my imagination. I have come and I have to fly my drone here. And I've enjoyed the comforts of the owner and the management. And this place. Is far more important than a place that will serve you good food. It is a place that will indulge anything your imagination could provide. It is just one phone call away and they will make it work and make it possible for you to enjoy. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are unique and different. And everything is different about this place than whatever you believe to be normal. And This is why this place is so valuable to me. I have filmed five-star chefs producing unforgettable experiences here. I have taken potential investors here they answered the important question “Why Estonia” perfectly every time. And they have been blown away by the quality, the price, the attention to detail. And I always take my high-net-worth investors here when I want them to invest in my business. I've flown my drone here. I've captured beautiful dancers and the sauna here has more stories and secrets and incredible out of this world. Experiences that I think it is worthy of the fins and every other high-end sauna here. I believe that you should come here for dinner /and come with ideas because the owner will accommodate your ideas and who knows magic might happen.........because every time I come, magic happens.

What a terrible experience, much worse this year and I think the quality of the kids they hired this year is terrible. Main complaint was the trampoline,no obvious line , so we waited, then we were told about the line so we lined up, my son was next, no one else was there, but then the kid let's three children in front and says "there is line and you need to wait 10 more minutes, my son who speaks Estonia told he was waiting and the kid could care less, we were standing in front of him the whole time. I recommend avoiding completely .

The Estonian Open Air Museum is a sprawling collection of reconstructed historic buildings located in the countryside. The small village within the museum features farms and mills, as well as a church, inn, and schoolhouse from Estonia's history. Besides taking in all of the marvelous architecture, visitors can enjoy weaving demonstrations, blacksmithing demonstrations, and cooking demonstrations among the tall trees.
Located a short bus ride from the centre of town, this museum is a must visit in my opinion.
The entrance fee is phenomenally cheap for the quality and variety of what's on show. I paid ten euros for a single adult ticket and spent around 4 hours exploring the living exhibits and scenery.
The tavern was another highlight. Very cosy in the winter and the food was good and fairly priced.
Very worthy of your time.

Discover the Magic of Estonia's Heritage!
The Estonian Open Air Museum is a perfect place to find out what Estonian rural life was like, especially now, with everything covered in a beautiful layer of snow.
This outdoor museum is a collection of historic buildings from all over Estonia. It's like stepping back in time as you walk among farmhouses, windmills, and even an old school, each telling its own story of the past.
Winter brings its own magic here. The snowfall transforms the landscape, making it feel even more tranquil and picturesque. It's an ideal setting for anyone interested in history, culture, or just a peaceful walk in a stunning environment. This museum is not just a glimpse into history; it's a serene escape into the beauty of Estonian winters.

Absolutely in love with this museum! Definitely recommend visiting, and talking to "hostesses" of locations - these ladies will tell you interesting facts about the houses. We spent 5 hours in total, yet some locations were closed for visitors, so I guess it's even possible to spend the whole day there (especially taking into account they have both a tavern and a small stores with drinks in the way)

Beautiful open-air museum. Loads of old buildings, some set up to show how people used to lived there. There is an QR code by entrance to download the audio in English. We only had 2 hours there but could have spent longer. The only thing I would recommend is hiring a bike for €5

It's a quite nice museum for everyone to learn more about life in Estonia. Visited in winter and, even though some places were closed, we still managed to spend about 3-4 hours there. In some buildings, there are museum workers giving you information about the building and life there, or leading a workshop. It's also a nice walk around, with the free audio guide (to download on an app)

This is a great outdoor display of historic buildings. It has a very nice gift store. We were on an excursion from our cruise ship and so had a limited time at the museum. I expected more of a living history display with people in period costumes, etc. We did have an excellent show of folk dancing, compete with period costumes, which was nice. I was pushing my wife in a wheelchair, and that was challenging at times on the gravel paths but we managed.

It was an interesting and unusual experience. We got to the festival of Estonian culture and it was very interesting. This is a huge park where you can get acquainted with the culture of Estonia from different times, find some beautiful places for photos, and most importantly, you don’t need to go to Holland to see a windmill) In general, this is a great theme eco park.

Awesome museum. We used Bolt ride to get there from the old town. We were there for almost three hours but only had time for a small part of the museum. There happened to be some sort of fair when we visited and the booths sold nice stuff. The restaurant in the museum is big and cozy. We’re definitely coming back again.

The experience was fantastic. The town is cute and feels authentic. A lot of attention went into the details which contributed so much to the realness of the place.
I recommend going to the kolkhoz apartments building. There, you can visit 4 different homes from different period and it really feels lived in.
The different farms are lovely and you can meet 2 goats.
We also met the cat who will let you pet him and will follow you around the town.
Majestic venue but the staff must be more oriented in guiding people. The transport at the end of the show (23:40) was a nightmare for this new visitor

It’s a nice arena for big sporting events and concerts, I was there for the first time for Estonia-Lithuania basketball game and atmosphere was amazing.
I don’t know if it’s related to venue management or from different stakeholders, but there were almost no stewards or volunteers to help people to find their spots or guide them in timely manner. Few mins before the game kick off and everyone was moving around and trying to find correct sector. I would recommend to improve this for basketball events

Good place for concerts. The chair was comfortable. I went there in winter, I felt a bit of cold. So I didn't leave my coat to the cloakroom. You should go there early because it takes much time to pass through the entrance with long line of people. There is one of the biggest shopping center next to this arena, so we can kill time easily.

One of the biggest concerts and sports events venues in Estonia. Good sound quality. But the seats are too small and there is too little space so you cannot fully enjoy the concert if you are a tall guy or pack a little weight. Otherwise a nice place

Good view on stage from almost every angle, acoustics could be a little bit better. The people flow works very efficiently and there is plenty of staff to support you. Prices for drinks and snacks are reasonable (cheaper than in many other venues of this kind). Unfortunately the seats are very uncomfortable.

Mardilaat is an annual arts and crafts event that bring together craftsmen and artisans from all across Estonia. This year, Hiiumaa was the focus but the event was not limited to one county. Not only was this an opportunity to do one’s Christmas shopping, it was an opportunity to see and learn about the customs and traditions of the various regions of Estonia. This is a must see event that takes place every November.

I sneaked to all the different admin/staff rooms I probably shouldn't have been to. Overall a very interesting place with a lot to explore!

Very nice, i saw the Nightwish Concert and it was a pleasure for me. Come back soon i'm sure ;-)

I have been there at the food expo. 20 euro entry ticket. Parking was ok, but also 3 euro extra charge. Same kind of event in Riga has 6 euro entry ticket. Organizers say it's because Unibet Arena is an expensive venue. It is ok, but not something superior to the previous venue of this expo. Which used to be Pirita Pavilion
The Tallinn Zoo is a popular attraction for the whole family with several experiences targeted to different age groups. The zoo has over 8000 animals from 400 species, including Polar bears, Siberian tigers and crocodiles.
Visited on 19th of November, -4 degrees Celsius... so it was not busy for sure 🤣
Easy to get to: we hopped on a bus from the train station and it took us straight to the zoo entrance.
Could conveniently pay by card at the machine that had English option, so there no queue and no communication drama. It was so fast and simple!
Even though there were some empty cages but we still saw a huge variety of animals! I'm 39 and have been places, but here I've seen animals I've never seen before in real life!
No shops, so you save a fortune with kids! If you want a snack, you can always go to the opposite side of the road to the mall where there's a huge variety of options that a zoo would never be able to compete with anyway. This way, everyone can choose exactly what they fancy to eat at the mall, and the zoo can focus on what it's there for: the animals...
People were complaining about the walking : to us with a full of energy 7-year-old it was perfect! Kids don't sit down long to watch the camels or bisons... they want to walk and explore. My kid would have finished the zoo in 10 minutes if things were too near, but this way, we had to walk. The kid got worn out and entertained: it was perfect! She was ravenous after all the walking, which was great because she ate like a beast with no arguments or complications 🤣
The facility is getting lots of improvements-lots of construction going on. Can't wait to return to check back on what it looks like later 💖
The amount we paid is super reasonable. So many animals to shelter and feed... there's been numerous occasions when we felt ripped off and annoyed during this holiday in Estonia, but this was definitely not like that. It is absolutely worth what they charge!

It was a good visit. The zoo is relatively small compared to other countries. The zoo was clean. The zoo map didn't match some of the actual areas, and there weren't good food and snack options.

The only attraction is the polar bear. Many cages are empty. The condition of the animals is not good. Though the part children zoo is good, Kids really like to play with rabbits & other animals there.

Very big zoo, easily big enough to justify the 20min bus journey from the city centre.
I went on a Monday because the Tallinn Card advertised it as one of the few things open on Mondays which it is, but all the indoor areas are closed which means you miss out on a lot of animals. Fortunately, as entry is free with Tallinn Card I returned on Tuesday to see what I had missed. They're doing a lot of reconstruction to create better environments for the animals so I imagine this will really improve the experience too. Loved the polar bears, owls and elephants especially

I love this place to go with the whole family. We were able to eat a delicious snack at the end of our tour and we were able to buy a nice souvenir when leaving. What surprised us was to see several empty cages without animals

A Zoo that's well worth a visit..
10mins bt taxi from Old Town costs 10 euro.
Huge variety of animals, the Zoo is slowly upgrading many of its enclosures and modernising facilities.
Great news if you have children, there's no shop so you will save a small fortune..

Lot of building, after 2 years will be a lot better. Anyway it tas pleasure to see it.

The worst zoo experience we ever had. Most of the cages were absolutely empty with no animals. The map provided by the zoo was wrong and couldn't lead to the animals mentioned on the map.. The whole walk across the zoo was v unorganised and tiring. The only nice experience was watching the Polar bear. However, most of the animals were stressed due to heat and small cages. 14 euros per person was a waste of money for this experience. I do not recommend this zoo to visit.

We have had a fantastic time at the zoo. Admittedly it’s winter and many animals are inside, but despite this, the zoo was a hive of activity. They are building an incredible tiger enclosure of whicb the restaurant opens onto. I can only imagine how all the construction will be when finished in May, and the countryside transformed into Spring/Summer. Just don’t go on a Monday when the zoo itself is open but the indoor areas all closed! 😁

Wonderful experience
The number of animals was too little but the zoo is huge
The design of the floor was innovative
First time for me to see a polar bear
And I when turned my back to a jungle cat it jumped on the glass

Very much to see, especially for the entrence fee. It seems like some of tha animals are to far from their own habitat, which would be best for them but it also seems like the zoo are about to change that. I really hope so because thes places are needed but can not be part of a circus or be there for humans. It has to be for their own species sake. Some signs are a little bit unclear, but it might have to do with the rebuilding.

This Zoo has potential. Therr are renovations undergoing so I am sure it can only get better. Bathrooms everywhere along the way. And the animals look to have nice dedicated area. The highlights were the polar bear, the elephants and the rhino. The rainforest section was closed.

I do not recommend. We were disappointed. It is difficult to scan the Tallinn card at the entrance, because the payment point is close to the ticket scanning point, so the phone wants to pay instead of scanning the card. Employees unresponsive. Lots of empty places. We did not see many animals. The directions are not understandable or incorrect - they do not lead to the indicated animals. The tropical house was great. We saw elephants, which was our main goal for visiting the ZOO. Polarius is very interesting. You have to walk a lot, but you can’t really get anywhere. Definitely not worth it for that price. Bad experience.

Went to the zoo during winter and many of the exhibits were closed and couldn’t see the animals. There are a few indoor exhibits featuring reptiles which were interesting. Some routes were closed and had to backtrack many times.

I liked the concept that this is more of an animal park than a regular zoo. Simple enclosures, interesting places to observe animals, especially the tower near the elephants. I am glad that the park is constantly being modernized and it keeps up with the times and modern architecture and landscape design. Great place for family fun.
Oleksandr Pyrin — Google review
In winter you will be able to see almost only polar bear, goats, snow leopard, seal and inside buildings surikates, elephant, crocodile, shimpanze. Most animals are inside buildings and it is not possible to see them.
In the entrance and inside the zoo we saw timeline of animal feeding. Unfortunately, we were waiting for anyone to come and feed concrete animals on that time, but no one came.
Snow on paths is cleaned slowly and manually. Animal cages are old and has to be renovated. Roats are badly planed, you have to go straight and back, searching for animals.
Warning! Inside elephant povilion air quality is so bad, we didn't face in any other zoo (we visited more than 20). There is no or bad ventilation, so all my family started to feel really bad and had to leave in emergency.
From ups: zoo price in winter is not high. Zoo is open probably every day even on holidays. Thanks to cold weather we could see polar bear and snow leopard well (in summer they usually hide from heat and sun).

Beautiful park with lots of space. Still a few historical small animal pens, but they work hard to build better enclosures as soon as possible. Great guides and staff. You need a full day to enjoy it all. Tropical rainforest house was amazing. Otters having fun all the time. The park does a lot of education for children/schools.
This time of year (mid sept) is not many guests so lots of time to take photos or just watch undisturbed. Great zoo!

It's nice to revisit this place, although ticket prices have slightly increased in 2023, I'd estimate by around 30% 🤔, now costing 14 euros for adults. But, anyway, contemplating and interacting with animals, even if not in their natural environment, is always a great, calming, and educational experience 😉.
Bathing eagles, playful otters, Japanese macaques, sleeping grey seals, a peeing African elephant, rare fishes, colorful insects, and newborn freshwater stingray pups are just a few examples of the lovely and active animals you can find at this zoo.
Specifically, it's worth mentioning the rainforest pavilion, which opened in 2023. It faithfully reproduces the entire ecosystem of the forest down to the details - humidity, temperature, plant species, all of it, supplemented with informative boards. At the end of the facility, comfortable chairs allow you to sit or lay down and enjoy the projections of a virtual forest in a relaxed atmosphere. Plants like sea buckthorn, barberry, cherry laurel, and wild rose hips are abundant on the zoo's grounds, and when the berries ripen during autumn, it's even possible to taste them 😉.

The zoo was lovely with plenty of animals in big cages.
I happend to visit on a monday, so most of the houses for ex. Snakes were closed. There were a lot of cute animals and the zoo is just a bus drive away from the city center. I definitely would recommend if you're saying for multiple days, and even for a one day trip its a nice location
