Opel Zoo is a wildlife park featuring an impressive elephant enclosure, hippos, and a petting zoo. Visitors can enjoy camel and pony rides as well. The zoo offers ample opportunities for animal interaction, with the option to purchase carrots for feeding and even book experiences with lemurs online. The spacious habitats provide animals with plenty of room to roam, while visitors can take advantage of various paths and resting spots throughout the park.
We visited the Opel Zoo on Easter weekend. When we arrived at 0900 we found ample parking, but later in the day, it looked like people were having a harder time finding a parking spot. We did see an Audi station wagon hit the median driving to the parking that was near the front of the park, so be careful when pulling in. The zoo had large exhibits for all of the animals and our toddler was able to see most animals without having to be picked up which was very nice. We were able to go most places in the zoo with our stroller, but there were a few paths that are only possible if you are on foot. Overall we had a great time and will go back again!

I gave three stars because half the animals were inside and couldn’t be seen there was only one kiosk open for takeout and many animals where removed because of winter but the price was the normal price which you would pay in summer when all the animals are out and all the Kiosks are open. It would be fair to have a winter price and a summer price.
Dave Pearson — Google review
It's a perfect place for nature lovers to relax🌞Animals are well taken care of, there are resting areas, a playground, and free parking.
You should plan to spend a few hours there to calmly walk around and see everything.
They have a petting zoo with cute sheep and lambs, although the smell there is really bad. But my kid didn't mind spending a good half hour feeding and petting the animals.
I recommend visiting the bird area, too. The metal gates open to a bird paradise.
At the top, there are viewing platforms overlooking the elephant enclosure, and as a bonus, you can enjoy a tasty waffle on a stick.
The view from the giraffe viewing platform is incredibly beautiful.
The only thing we didn't like was the toilets. We visited several, and they were all very dirty.
Overall, time flew by quickly, and we left with pleasant memories🦒🦓🐆🐘🐫🐪🦩

This is an excellent zoo and a great day out. We’ve been morning on our dogs absurd leash reactivity. Its really great that there are lots of little paths that we were able to swerve into when he needed a little break or summer time away.
There is a great selection of animals that seem to have a great deal of space in their habitats.
There is a great little kiosk and an even better restaurant. There were some indoor areas that we stayed out of with the dog but we might check them out later.
There is a season ticket price of 50€ which is worth about four visits. They sell bags of carrots and vending machines with food too feel the animals.
Its worth a trip, and a season ticket if you’re going more than once.
Eric Doudrick (???? ???????) — Google review
Loved the option to feed the animals. My boy enjoyed it. You get to see the animals very close and nice to see they have a bit of area to roam. Would be nice if we have more variety of wild animals.
Sreelal Unniyambath — Google review
This was a great zoo. All the animals had a good environment where they can roam around. I went in winter so a lot of the reptile exhibit were closed as the animals were moved to a winter home. There is a free petting zoo and food machines around to feed the goats. There are other fun activities that can be enjoyed and many photo opportunities. There is also plenty of rest area around the zoo so you can sit down and eat/drink. The zoo wasn't very pack but it is also a huge zoo, so it provides plenty of space for people to not be in close proximity to each other. The zoo store has a lot of different plushies that can lead to a lot of money spent, 100% worth, but just saying watch that walet.

Very nice zoo. Great green area with nice lanes for walks, areas to rest and watch the animals. Good variety of animals including giraffe, zebras, elephant, penguins, hyenas. You can spend while there with options to have something to eat.
Emilia Kastreva — Google review
It is the best zoo I’ve ever been! First of all, it’s huge 😍😍😍 You will need at least half a day
to discover the whole area. Secondly, you can buy carrots (2,50€ a pack) at the entrance and feed animals on your own. They also have an area where you can come in yourself and walk around next to goats, donkeys and sheep 🐑 that are very very cute and hungry (😂). We also saw elephants, giraffes, deers, penguins, rabbits, pigs and different birds. I recommend coming during the week when there are not many people and when the weather is good. There is also a big playground for kids.
Angelica K — Google review
Nice and interesting place, animals seem well taken care of, no waiting entrance time (depends on the day* )carrots at the entrance are quite expensive for the amount you get.*
Ice cream shop and small kebab place inside too..

We have been to this zoo several times and it never disappoints. This is a great day trip, there is plenty to see. Parking can be hit or miss which is to be expected of a nice zoo like this. There has always been parking though, just a bit crowded depending on the days. Carrots can be purchased at the cashier for two euro and there is other feed throughout the park. Kids love to pet the animals and this place is great for that! If you go online, you can book an experience with the lemurs for free!! Totally recommend!! My kids and myself had a blast being on the other side of the cage and interacting with them. The park is always clean and the animals look happy. Their enclosures are clean and they have plenty of space to roam around. Highly recommend.

We visited the Opel Zoo on a Saturday. Unlike traditional zoos, the Opel Zoo provides spacious habitats for animals, allowing them to roam more freely and exhibit their natural behaviors. As you wander through the zoo, you’ll have the privilege of observing animals in environments that closely mimic their native habitats.
The Opel zoo offers the opportunity to observe elephants, giraffes, reindeer, various species of birds, and playful monkeys in a nice scenery.
My highlight was the enclosures where visitors can feed the sheep and goats. I find the prices for the carrots and the animal feed to be too expensive. However, I hope at least it benefits the zoo. Definitely worth a visit!

Animals: not so much verity (Eg. No lions or tigers). Some areas are closed when we arrived at 16:00. Suitable for young kids(<=8yrs)
Atmosphere:
- amazing, clean paths and restrooms.
There is a small zip line and an outdoor area for kids to play.
- There is a restaurant by the entrance and a kiosk inside the park.
Price: 4 adults and 1 child (<=6) cost 77€

Was great, parking good, entrance good, you buy your animal food there, food from home for feeding animals not allowed, main route is well done, cute animals, big animals really cool. Also lot of places to sit and relax, quite some up and down!

When went on friday, winter season so it was almost empty and that's what we prefer to go as we can enjoy the enjoy with no rush.
Zoo was quite big but not bigger as Hamburg zoo, well maintained, a lot of different animals, also some of them can be fed. Aquarium was very small, like with three four tanks that's it. I would not even call it an aquarium zone! Though, they have a bigger play zone and playground for kids.
I would call it one day trip and worth the Money.
The Limburg Cathedral is a remarkable Romanesque structure built on a rock with enchanting fairy tale spires. It showcases medieval art both inside and outside, making it truly special. Visitors can park their vehicles below and enjoy a leisurely stroll up to the cathedral for maximum pleasure. The exterior of the cathedral is beautiful, adorned with lovely bells while the interior exudes a nice ambiance due to chanting from somewhere in the transept and historic art spanning several centuries throughout.
We saw this Cathedral on our way to burg Eltz, (from Frankfurt) we thought of checking it out. Oh boy, we took the right decision! The cathedral was very cute and little different than other cathedrals we visited recently. It had 3 floors (upstairs) and looks simple but elegant. There is a nice view of the town from left side of the cathedral. We visited on Sat (28th Oct). It was open and free entry. There were pretty good amount of visitors, even in a gloomy day. But the best thing was, the town! Such a gorgeous, cute little town, the fishmarket (no fishy smell or nothing like that), and all those beautiful patterned colorful German houses! Even their shed (gartenhaus) had to be the same pattern, painted like those houses!! I would surly recommend anyone to visit this town and enjoy the beauty and bless them by eating in one of their restaurant.

The Georgsdome is almost 800 years old and a beautiful cathedral on a big rock next to the river Lahn. A must see when you visit Rhein-Main area!
Christoph Arens — Google review
Really special, quote old and with lovely frescos inside and out. Park somewhere down below and meander your way up for maximal enjoyment. I managed to carry my infant all the way up, in, and around and she was delighted. Bring .50 to buy the small pamphlet (in your option of several languages) or 3€ for the booklet. The Dom‘s exterior is beautiful and has lovely bells, and the interior has a nice ambiance with chanting coming from somewhere in the transept and several centuries of historic art throughout. As cathedrals go it’s really special!

Cathedral within an adorable city. Architecture is beautiful, stained glass windows and approachable alters and prayer nooks. Have a seat and you can almost hear the organ playing from ages past.
Signal Iduna Park is the renowned home stadium of Borussia Dortmund FC, boasting a seating capacity exceeding 80,000 for league matches and over 65,000 during European tournaments. This remarkable stadium offers an enjoyable tour experience to visitors while featuring a friendly staff that provides exceptional hospitality. Had a wonderful stadium tour and the staff is very friendly.. you get to be and feel like a real BVB player for once..

Amazing stadium and one of the main sights in Dortmund! It is located at the outskirts of the city and reaching it is not that easy. There are a lot of fan shops and food stalls surrounding it. It is very calm if it isn't match day. Overall, a great attraction.

Best atmosphere in Europe.
I’ve been to a lot of stadium but this one is so special, no matter what the game is!
Europa, Champions, Cup, Bundesliga, always a pleasure.
The SudTribune is incredible !
Salem Alsamour — Google review
Biggest stadium of Germany, capacity is little over 81000 people. Should be a must on your list to visit the stadium, or even better, a BVB match.
Sander Rijnders — Google review
Great stadium, really acoustic, good connection to the railway station (U-45 goes directly), very organized for supporters, both home and visitors. Plenty of turnstiles to get it, but it's still advisable to come earlier to the game, since 81.000 is a lot of fans

Incredible atmosphere! For my first time at a German football match, I couldn’t have imagined how good the atmosphere is. Stadium is super tall, which adds to the feel of the place, plus deafening chants from the ultras. Could not recommend visiting more, and I would defiantly pay to go again. Beer is also not a rare sight, which adds even more to the enjoyment of the match.
Ollie Groth — Google review
The greatest atmosphere I’ve seen so far on oa football staidum. It has 81365 seats and it’s always full. Not only that, but the whole stadium is singing for the entire duration of the game. It’s a must see if you are a football passionate.

Went to a match against RB Leipzig back in April 2022. It was my first experience of a football match in Germany. The atmosphere was absolutely incredible. The stadium is enormous. Fans were throwing their beer cups around when their team conceded, so it was a little scary.

I have visited this stadium with tour which you can book for 9 eur. Do not need to do it in advance. That was really amazing experience.

Best Stadium I have ever seen, the stadium just looked amazing in the evening. I was excited to see the Yellow wall
Jayprakash Dubey — Google review
This is the best football ground for atmosphere in Western Europe. Although there are better grounds in terms of facilities or more modern ones for comfort, none of them can beat Signal Iduna Park. Fans are fantastic throughout the whole match, beer is amazing, getting to the ground is easy by trams, can get packed going out but still you will be out in a matter of minutes. The official store at the ground is massive. All being said, you must visit! There are plenty of fans coming from the nearby countries also.

Very beautiful 😍, yesterday the peoples are friendly at the place. And friendly playful game and big stadium to see there everything. Buy tickets and enjoy the view and atmosphere and feel the playing show and game. Prices are fine and was clean as well.

I love this stadium, since my dad took me here on his shoulders 25 yrs ago.
It's great. Must see in Dortmund.
Just the parking situation is horrible and expensive, the crowded situation in front of the stadium especially after games is unorganized and too crowded and some of the food in the stadium is just a disappointment.
Hope somebody reads this and keeps working ⚒ 💛🖤

Mariela Riczik — Google review
I went for a stadium tour. It was okay. But The tour was very limited. A lot of restricted areas. Couldn't take a picture from above, since we couldn't go up.
Other than that, the stadium is amazing, (goosebumps guaranteed)
I loved that the employees were very welcoming and helpful.
Mike Kataya — Google review
Best stadium in the world. Nothing as good as standing in the Südtrubüne/Yellow Wall.
The only bad thing is the stewards let people stand on the stairs. This makes getting up and down almost impossible, especially with beers in hand. Sadly I was tripped and all my beers spilled because of this.

Unforgetable CL night with my son. Gelbe Wand is incredible. Atmosphere around the stadium is great, even 4 hours prior to the game.

What an experience! The best stadium atmosphere I’ve ever witnessed! The Dortmund fans are amazing!! Food and drinks are great. Would love to come back here again.
The House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany is a museum exhibiting contemporary German history. It is a beautiful museum with an interesting variety of exhibits, including documents that once belonged to Oskar Schindler.
Great Museum. Entrance is free of charge and you leave with a reasonable understanding of both Germany’s histories since WWII.

Amazing Museum! The place is very huge, well planned and maintained, so take your time visiting it.
Free entrance, so you can always come back once you're more familiar with the German language, but some are translated in English and you can listen to the audio guide.
Suited for families with kids, couples, and solo. Recommend if you are visiting Bonn.

The free entrance Museam that tells how German become today since 1945.
Wonderful journey and well planned. There are very informative and have some interactive tools available.
However, the English description is not available in small sections, so you would only have audio and narrative at the main theme.
Sparklingly clean and family friendly :)

Excellent Museum pointing out German history from 1945- to the present. The museum is quite interesting, take your time to visit. It takes a while to view carefully

The Museum of the History of the Federal Republic is a modern chronically of post second war Germany. It is a very fascinating place to visit but half way round I felt overloaded with information. It is perhaps better to take a coffee or tea break before you become saturated with information overload.
I would recommend this museum it is very well laid out and extremely simulating. But remember to take a break. You can download a free audio guide to your mobile phone.
The Museum is free to enter. The cloakroom is free to use. It had a handy cafe with waiter service.
Toilets are on the basement floor.
A metro station is virtually a minute away from the entrance.

I learned so much history about WW2 and German history that I had never heard before. Such an interesting and well put together exhibit. You could spend hours there. If you're not a German speaker, make sure to download Google translate and use the camera feature to translate all the notes on the pictures or you'll miss a lot that even the audio guide doesn't tell you.

Beautiful Museum. If you are in Bonn you must go there. It's free. 5 different floor going from 2nd world war to our days.

Are you looking for an well balanced view of German history after WW2, then visit this museum. But you need enough time and concentration. You will understand political development and live circumstances.
But I think it has to rebuild. Youth need other kind of knowledge transfer with more interaction and using digital media.
The longe invites for a relaxing break between many books.

The museum is really big and lots of items inside
The museum starts from (after ww2, 1945) until now.
The bad thing is that there are NO English descriptions at all, although it is intended for foreigners to learn history about this great country
I loved the place in general. I love German history
Many original pieces and many replicas
The museum has history about war, machines, politics, astro, life, people, ..
I liked how the theme was affected by the timeline (united > east+west germany> united germany)

It was free entry for some reason, they had quite a good collection, the historical stuff is in German, while the digital section is labeled in English. I spend around 2hrs here. It was worth it. I recommend a visit.
Thomas Joseph — Google review
Get emotional at first with some corners of post war. Informative and diversely displayed which is really nice however a few English signs to be found except the very brief main ones. In stead they walk you thru by audio by QR code.
Hien Diep — Google review
Truly a must see for every German citizen and everyone who is interested in German and recent European history.
What is especially captivating is the fact that each part of the exhibition is visually and physically enhanced by original objects and artifacts which are telling a story about their past much better than a simple picture or text.
While you can easily spend an entire day here without having seen everything, I’d recommend to split the entire exhibition in at least two visits to better process the vast amounts of information and pictures.
The Beethoven-Haus Bonn is a memorial site, museum and cultural institution that celebrates the life and work of composer Ludwig van Beethoven. The museum has one of the world's largest collections of manuscripts and music items related to the master.
Very nice place to visit. Well organized and informative. You will find a variety of Beethoven’s belongings as well as paintings and his music books and instruments. Loved it! Sadly no photos allowed inside the house.

A beautiful house and interesting artifacts of the son of Bonn. Here you feel like a part of his history: antique creaky floors, his personal belongings and musical instruments, rooms where you can listen to his masterpieces, a beautiful backyard, portraits and correspondence letters and much more. In my top 3 must-see places in Bonn.
Marianna Taniushkina — Google review
Visiting Beethoven's house in Bonn has been a lifelong dream of mine, and it certainly did not disappoint. As a classical music lover, getting to walk the same halls where one of history's greatest composers once lived and worked was an incredible experience. The house itself is beautiful, with its classic 18th century architecture and the lush gardens surrounding it. Inside, I was amazed to see Beethoven's actual pianos, original scores, and other artifacts that gave me a glimpse into his creative genius. Though he went deaf later in life, standing in that house you could almost hear the music in the air. Getting to see where Beethoven was born and spent his formative years left me inspired and in awe of his lasting legacy. This visit is one I will cherish forever.

Small but fine. €10 per adult and €7 per kid, €19 for a family (2 adults+max 3 kids). Photos are not allowed inside.
Pearl Xia — Google review
Small house filled with interesting tidbits on Beethoven including a unique statue made from a plaster mask while he was not very old, the string quartet instruments he was gifted, items from his daily life, facsimile scores, ear trumpets, and info on his friends, patrons, and acquaintances. I recommend doing the audio tour as it will add quite a bit of context and information to the experience. Perhaps too much. If one were to listen to every entry in the guide you'd likely be there for several hours.
Michael Clayville — Google review
A place I always yearning to visit! I can't describe the feeling you get when you look at the original instruments knowing they were once played by a great Master like Beethoven!

Beautiful and well maintained museum. The staff is very friendly, the items are easy to get to and see, tickets could be easily bought on the spot. I visited on Dec 23 and the museum wasn’t super busy. The special exhibition opened at 11:30 a.m. (museum opens at 10 a.m.) which gave me enough time to see the rest of the house without being in rush. The whole experience took me about a hour and a half. The musical rooms are very meditative and I definitely recommend spending time listening to Beethoven’s music for a while. Pictures could be taken everywhere with exception of the Treasury room where the special exhibition was placed. A definite must-go for a professional musician!

Excellent experience, the house where a legend was born. It's very well kept, everything, every object has an explanation (historical note if you will). You can also download an app which plays the music specific to the instrument Beethoven used. You aren't allowed to take photos inside the house but there is a garden where you can click few photos. A must visit for everyone. (For students the rates are a bit lower)

Such a beautifully preserved piece of history. A must see if you're in Bonn! The house Beethoven was born in and so many interesting facts about him and his family. I would love to go again and spend more time as I was on a time constraint. Well worth it. It's closed on Tuesdays. Plan accordingly

Visited it on a Saturday late afternoon, overall liked the place and was able to cover it in 75 mins. It's small with ground, first and second floor. The place offers you to see different potraits of Beethoven, some of his musical instruments, letters from his family and friends, and some hearing devices. To get more info about the exhibits you can download an app. The download did not work for me inside the Haus so I went to the ticket shop again to download it.
Treasury area is only open from 11 till 14:00 or 15:00. Next to the Treasury you can go into the music room and relax there while listening to some of the famous compositions.
You can buy the tickets from the ticket amd souvenir shop opposite to the house at a normal price for 12 euros and for students 7/7.5 euros.

Definitely come to Beethoven's House if you are visiting Bonn, it is an amazing place that shows the life of the great composer, and how the barriers of losing his sense of hearing can still make wonderful works like his famous 5th and 9th symphony.

This was one of the main reason I travelled to Bonn. It was a nice medium sized museum full of Beethoven's personal letters, manuscripts, artifacts and instruments. What I found quite interesting was the correspondences detailing Beethoven's relationships. Download the app in the shop using their free wifi before entering the gallery so you can use the audio guide. Bring a good set of earphones (noise cancelling preferably) as its a small space and the creaky floors and many tours get quite loud over the audio guide.

My friend just wanna visit it while i been in Bonn. It was easy just both tickets and we go straight away! They give u tablet with headphones or you can download app with all information and history. From outside it looks quite small but when you enter its a lot of space to explore! Really love it, enjoy the music while looking by the window in to the garden was my fav thing. All small details explained and much new things I found out! Totally worth it

After that we went to Beethoven house, the house where Beethoven was born. To buy tickets you across the street. Also if you have a backpack then you need to put it in one of the lockers. We downloaded the app which had the auto guide. Overall there is the ground floor and then 2 other floors. This museum goes over Beethovens up bringing as well as highlights the instruments he played. Nice museum, if you want to listen to everything it will take about 2 hours but we tried to listen to what we thought was noteworth so we finished within an hour. Nice to see if you are in Bonn.

Was my first time, i was a bit hesitated but quickly from the starting i get the positive vibe, the reception then the pianist and they way they have decorated with the candles. No regrets, and sure will go again and encourage my friends as well.

Visiting Bonn without visiting the Beethoven-Haus is virtually impossible. This little museum is definitely worthwhile and not just for fans of Beethoven's music. It gives an interesting insight in life in the nineteenth century in Germany.

What a beautiful surprise to find this petit filarmonic in the Beethoven House, just so elegant and cozy.
The piano con concert very accurate and the pianist was very gently, he explained a nice general history about Beethoven pieces.
And the many candles are just adorable.

I grew up with music of Beethoven, so visiting this museum was kind of sentimental for me.
Reading his letters regarding his deafness and trying the instrument that mimics his hearing was heartbreaking. He was a great man and museum was a good reminder and reflection of this.
The Cologne Chocolate Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of chocolate. The museum has permanent exhibitions on the history of chocolate from different parts of the world, and includes interactive exhibits for visitors to experience the taste and texture of different chocolates.
What an impressive show of industrial skill. I’ve been to chocolate museums before but this was on another level. It had partially operational industrial machinery demonstrating how chocolate is made now and in the past. Then on top of that it has several historical exhibits, a chocolate shop and a cafe. Nearly everything is in English. Quite the experience for a foreigner.

You can buy tickets upon entry, no need for advance tickets unless you want. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the museum and learning the history of chocolate and how it’s made, processed, and used across the world and different cultures.
Coolest part is seeing the chocolate actually made right in front of you through different steps. You even get to click a button that pops out the chocolate that was just cooled/made. Definitely worth the visit here in Cologne!

The place is great! A must visit tourist attraction in Cologne. The place is mostly crowded on the weekend and the getting a ticket there might become a big challenge. The place is located right at the heart of the city so it’s easily accessible but parking is a problem, the place doesn’t have its own parking, need to use nearby parking places and walk to the museum. The place has lot of history and future plans for chocolate industry, also the making of chocolate. A whole floor is dedicated for chocolate making and you can see how chocolate bars are made by looking at the working machines. There is also small chocolate outlet to get chocolates and souvenirs from the museum.

Very informative museum, plus free samples! Easy to get tickets as they were issued in 15minute increments. Loved the history and the ways so many countries contribute to chocolate manufacturing. Plus great to see chocolate making in action!! Cafe was a nice atmosphere after wandering; crepes were divine!!

I would not say that this is a must visit on your trip to Cologne. Also with entry ticket at at EUR 14 per adult, the place is a bit expensive. We went to the place as a family with our four year old son. The place gives information on chocolate processing, and one can find live chocolate production happening at the place. You can taste the freshly made chocolate, if you buy tickets to the museum. Overall the place is OK, If you are on a leisurely trip to Cologne, you may visit the place.

Nice place to have an idea about how the 'Lindt' chocolates are made. Very nice place to take children for their level of excitement.
Especially nice to see the different types of process throw which chocolates are made. It's one of a kind experience. Not to forget and miss the free sample tasting of chocolate wafers provided.
Wheelchair accessible entrance is available. Exciting information about chocolates are available.

The museum is not so big and the whole tour takes about 1-1,5 h. It's good to come in the morning as it isn't crowded. To avoid waiting in the line, I would recommend buying the tickets earlier via the website. In the museum you can see a lot of information about each step of chocolate production. Actually you will get an answer to all kinds of questions about chocolate. Inside there is a small production line which is very interesting. In the end, you may taste a fresh piece of chocolate or try something sweet from the chocolate fountain. This is definitely a place worth visiting however the price of the ticket could be a bit lower.

It was one of my super nice experiences. The museum gives us all the details of the chocolate 🍫, the history of the owner, and where the farms of the company are.
You can bay also pay one Euro to planting one coco tree 🌳

Reasonably priced and really enjoyable for people of all ages. Explains where the raw ingredients come from, transport, production (the smell is superb), marketing and sustainability to name a few. Free chocolate along the way including the chocolate fountain, and be sure not to miss the cafe afterwards, the staff everywhere were nice but my server in the cafe in particular was great. Gift shop not silly money either for the quality you’re buying. A must visit!!!

Really sweet experience!
They give some free Lindt chocolate when you enter, good for some sugar rush as you explore the museum.
You can try some free chocolates at various chocolate stations. You get to see the process of making chocolate and you’ll also see some robotic machinery they use now.
If you come in after 5pm, they have a ticket sale, since they close at 6pm. The chocolates in the store are also priced well.

Really interesting factory museum. I thought they did a nice job including a wide array of interests/considerations to include some relating to fair trade and global warming concerns in the chocolate industry. Lots to look at, you could spend half a day here for sure. Loved the shop, plenty to buy there. One of the coolest things was that you have the opportunity to have a custom chocolate bar made right in front of you!

Fun for the entire family. I think particularly those with children would do themselves a disservice by not going to this place. But even those who would perhaps have a grey hair more than they would like are still going to find something fun and educational in the visit. The tour is well laid out and you get great views of the city . Its a well spent time in Cologne.

This is an amazing place to be. Although there was a huge crowd both in and outside the museum you’ll love it there. So detailed illustration of how chocolate is made. You’ll also get small gifts both when going in, inside and when going outside. It’s a lovely experience

I love chocolate, especially lindt! Complimentary chocolate on arrival was happily received, then an interesting history of cocoa until the best part, the chocolate fountain and factory section. Samples of the liquid chocolate are handed out, I could've stayed in that section the whole time! I wasn't too bothered about the rest of the museum other than the complimentary chocolates upon leaving. The shop had an amazing selection too. Busy on weekends

A beautiful and charming museum. Gives you a nice background about the chocolate making, manufacturing and distribution process. You also get free chocolates! You can also get a chocolate from freshly prepared chocolate. If you want you can also make your own customized chocolate bar. It takes almost 2-3 hrs to roam around the museum. Do not forget to get chocolates from the shop below😄.

We visited the Lindt chocolate Museum recently. We were thrilled to attend the fine tasting session. The narrator gave us an complete overview of the chocolate processing and we had an opportunity to taste some of the products during the process like from the coco beans, coco butter to final stage of finished chocolate.
Highly recommend to get an online booking specially during weekend. We saw really huge line on Saturday luckily we had our session booked. Good for kids.

Buy tickets in advance online. Go early, when the museum opens to avoid the crowds. I enjoyed that they showed the entire journey of a chocolate bar. Even showing things like shipping and market share of different brands. Even though I was there on a Sunday there were lots of staff in the chocolate factory showing off their craft which was great to see. The museum also had a history part, detailing things such as chocolate during the wars. So in summary, the museum really has a bit of everything and of course the opportunity to taste the chocolate. I would recommend a visit if in Cologne. Also, if you are there during December the Christmas market in front of the museum was one of the less crowded markets.

It is a well designed museum with a lot happening there.
As many others recommended, buy your ticket well in advance and if you're interested in a tour (I highly recommend one) buy it way way in advance.
I booked the short course (30 min) that gave an overview of different stages of production with tasting (Yes! we tried a bean!). It was worth the extra 2.5 EUR for sure and was not too long.
There's a green house with chocolate and banana trees that have fruits!
I recommend going there if you're in Köln. Definitely one of the best things to do there.

Visiting this museum was one of the best decisions I made when I was in Cologne, Germany.
During the tour there are different exhibitions that explain everything from the origin of chocolate, to the way it is processed and obtained, as well as its commercial distribution.
The tour is very entertaining, and the best thing is that they give free chocolate samples. Although the price could be considered somewhat high, I think it is totally worth it.

Pretty special museum if you are really into chocolate, infographics, and more chocolate :)
Try to avoid visiting during weekends for a less crowded experience, and buy your ticket online to avoid waiting on the queue in the entrance

Super cool. You get to see where chocolate started and all of the processes to make it. There are samples from the chocolate made right in front of you, and you even have an opportunity to have your own chocolate bar made with different toppings. The chocolate tastes better than what is sold in the stores. So delicious and so fun! Use the QR code to purchase tickets. Waiting in line takes a lot longer.

That was a nice place to visit when you are in Cologne. Seeing A cocoa tree is interesting and a bunch of interesting information. My only complaint was the people assigned who are helping/ordering the queue. They were rude even on a plain simple question...
The Hohenzollern Bridge is a spectacular bridge in Cologne that is used for railway traffic. It has been nicknamed "Love Locks" because of the many couples who attach padlocks to the railing and throw the key into the River Rhine below. The bridge is one of Cologne's most popular tourist attractions, and it's estimated that its locks weigh more than two tons!
The Cologne Cathedral is a huge, imposing building with a beautiful facade. It's also a popular tourist destination with guided tours and views of the Rhine.
Majestic, grand and all those similar adjectives. This is the main attraction in cologne and is worth it. The space around the cathedral is also relaxing. The insides of the cathedral is breathtaking. Also you can climb the tower which is also, literally, breathtaking, since there are 500 odd steps to climb. Visit as early as possible to avoid crowd. It is specially beautiful at night with all the lights, it looks surreal.

The place outside the Cathedral is too crowded and noisy that it is less possible for us to breath. The place is so beautiful and inside of the cathedral is calm and quiet. The art works are extremely brilliant. It would be better to go during the day time especially when it is sunny, so that you can enjoy the colorful glass paintings inside the cathedral.

The Cologne Cathedral is a magnificent architectural masterpiece that I had the pleasure of visiting. This Gothic-style cathedral, located in Cologne, Germany, is truly a sight to behold. With its towering spires reaching towards the heavens and intricate stained glass windows, it is no wonder the cathedral has garnered so much admiration and recognition. The interior of the cathedral is equally awe-inspiring. The high ceilings and ornate carvings that adorn the walls add to the sense of grandeur and historical significance that this beautiful building possesses. I was particularly captivated by the organ, which is a remarkable feat of engineering and craftsmanship. The atmosphere inside the cathedral is one of reverence and tranquility, allowing visitors to appreciate the art and spirituality that encompasses them. Exploring the Cologne Cathedral was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

One of the most mesmerizing pieces of architecture I’v seen in my life. The details, the size, the view, the history and the beauty are all immaculate.
I came to cologne on a business trip and on my last day I decided to explore the city and it was the best decision ever and later I read about the cathedral and its history.
You can go to the other side of the river to take some nice photos as well.
Also note that if you want to get inside the cathedral you’ll have to go between 10:00 and 17:00 on weekdays.
The love bridge is also near by which will give you a nice view of the cathedral and the river.

But if you get tired of the commotion, the tranquility of the Rhine River is just around the corner, along with great places to eat

Amazing Cathedral to see, right in the heart of Cologne. The view is tremendous from all sides on the outside - you'll have no issue spotting the tall spires, and as you close in you'll notice all the magnificent detail in the architecture. You can enter inside (check hours), however, you can't bring in any large bags; and be vigilant of any masses taking place.

A remarkable work of architecture that is difficult to fully absorb without being in front of it. There are many details worth appreciating when standing close; but it’s when you step back that you can feel the immense scale of the work. Incredible - and a lot of fun to look at while visiting the Christmas market, if you are here in the winter.

I was told about this suspension railway and recommended to try it. I joined at Kluse (one stop down from the main train station, next to the cinema) and grabbed a ticket - although cheap (only 1.70) I found the machine doesn't take credit card, so come prepared with coins.
The railway isn't big - only two carriages - but they are pretty frequent so if you miss one (or it's full), you don't have long to wait for the next. The carriages have been modernised: they're brightly-lit with clean seats that don't look worn in any way. Sitting at the back gives a good view down the river and along the roads during the trip, but as I tried it last evening in winter most of my trip was quite dark.
I travelled south-west all the way to Vohwinkel (the terminal stop) where it's possible to see the other carriages parked, so there's quite a few cars. I then grabbed the one on the other side and travelled back the other way.
Quite leisurely, a pretty smooth ride and fairly quick, given the age of the technology. Well worth the trip!
The UNESCO-World Heritage Site Zollverein contains a coke and coal mine that began in 1849. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Ruhr region, with activities including exhibitions, concerts, and dance performances.

It is a wonderful place that has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Zeche Zollverstein terrain has a lot to show for including a swimming pool, restaurants, shops and two museums, each requiring a ticket purchase. One is dedicated to design, while the other offers a broad spectrum of items, ranging from paintings and sculptures to rocks and artifacts displayed among the industrial spaces and machinery. The general history museum also features beautifully lit staircases, though elevators are available throughout for convenience. To enjoy a nice panoramic view of the grounds, visitors must ascend the stairs to the rooftop. There are a lot of free parking spaces, but it can get quite busy near the entrance, so arriving early is advisable. Given the extensive size of the grounds, biking is also a great option. The main downside is the poor signage throughout. It's often unclear where things are located, the pricing, and which parts belong to the museum versus separate exhibitions. For a World Heritage site, one might expect better clarity.

An interesting Place to visit which grants you a look into the past. There is a lot to see, and tours to be taken. Whether you are young or old, want to walk a lot or not, there is something for everyone. A lot to look at, a lot to explore. You can walk around the premises and take a look at the different sites or take the bus.
There is a variety of restaurants and cafes all over the area if you get hungry or thirsty in the meantime.
There is plenty of parking so that you should easily find a spot whenever you come. Alternatively the site is easily to reach by public transport.
Overall if you are interested in the industrial times you should definitely give this place a visit when you are around.

What an amazing place of industrial heritage. One can only try to imagine this site bustling with activity, 8000 people on site and the noise and smell and dust and dirt. All this started by Franz Haniel to mine the black gold. We benefited from a well informed tour guide who helped to bring this to life, highly recommended since this gives you access to buildings equipped with sound and video installations.

Informative and well designed museum about the Ruhr area. The museum includes a great viewpoint of the surrounding area and a socio-historic overview of the area. Only reason why it isn't 5 stars is because it felt a bit propagandistic as the environmental impact of the mining industry was barely mentioned. Regardless it is still worth a visit.

It has wifi and toilet everywhere. For child under 5 age, student whose under 25 its FREE. So enjoy

The tickets fares are rather confusing. We went on a day where the Red dot Museum was closed. So we only visited the Rhur Museum.
I recommend the fare that includes the permanent, the special, and the temporary exhibition. As you have to walk and travel up and down the many floors inside the museum on both sides. There is a rooftop for taking pictures of the monument. But only stairs. Each floor they check if you have the correct ticket so I recommend you take the all-included one as you walk a lot up and down the stairs.
Permanent exhibition is about history of the industrial complex and collections. The temporary exhibition is currently about football.

Dimensions are huge and the industrial style to me looks surreal. I will definitely come back to see more and make a guided tour. There is a lot of industrial history here.

A lot of great ambience. Especially in the weekend. Beautiful at sunset! Most people spoke English very well!
Tip: In Germany if you want to go to the toilet there is a 99% chance you have to pay. Usually it's about 50 cents or 1 euro. So have some small cash ready!

Dusseldorf's iconic Rhine Tower is a towering landmark that offers panoramic views of the city and region from its riverside location. The building below, the new Landtag (regional parliament), is an extraordinary addition to the skyline. The tower also houses telecommunications equipment and provides signals for TV transmitters, FM and Radio. The observation deck and revolving restaurant are popular tourist attractions.
Very nice view when the weather is good. A must see in Düsseldorf. Before 11:00am entry is only 5 Euro/person, and up in the tower there is also Cafe, they have different drinks and cakes , ice cream …very relaxing

A phenomenal view of Düsseldorf and an absolute must visit destination. Ticket cost was €10 each and when you reach the top after a smooth ride you arrive at a bar.
The 360 degrees views are superb, but could be improved if there was some interactivity and information.

Panoramic tower on the city of Dusseldorf, opens at 10 am and until 11 am the cost of the ticket is 6€, after 11 it becomes 12€.
you can visit the observation deck inside which there is a very nice bar, with tables and seats.
Above the observation deck there is a restaurant.

Incredible tower, so high and huge. The area there is amazing too, next to the Rhine river. There is a nice walking area around where you can see the tower from all directions.
You can enter the tower and enjoy the city view for 10 €, you can check the ticket prices on the website.

The Rhine tower is an absolutely breathtaking structure, by the banks of the Rhine river. The evening hours are the peak times for visitors, it is recommended to book the tickets online. We got the tickets in the reception for €10 per adult. The elevator is very quick and takes you to the first level, where the in-house cafe and viewing area is located. The level above hosts a restaurant, which is again recommended to be reserved prior. An amazing experience overall, I must say!

This was definitely worth it. For a very low price I got to see amazing vistas of the entire city. I’ve been on many towers, and this one is clearly one of the best due to its position, surroundings and low admission fee. The photos speak for themselves!! It’s definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in Dusseldorf, you will not regret it!

Overall nice TV Tower with a not bad view. However there's really not too much other value added to it, hence the 10 euro ticket doesn't feel like a super great deal. The middle level has some okay-ish snacks and drinks, but the upper level only opens in the night. So if you are visiting during the day, not much else you could do honestly.

It’s a popular tourist attraction. Went there during the recent Museum Night. Waited almost 50 minutes. The elevator was fast and smooth. The 360 degrees bird’s eyes view from the top was amazing. If the waiting line was not that long, I could have caught the sunset.

Visiting the Rhine Tower (Rheinturm) was an incredible experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Düsseldorf! The panoramic views from the observation deck are simply breathtaking, offering a 360-degree perspective of the city and its surroundings. The high-speed elevator ride to the top was smooth and efficient, and once there, I was mesmerized by the stunning vistas of the Rhine River, Old Town, and modern skyline. The revolving restaurant provided a unique dining experience with delicious cuisine and ever-changing views. Additionally, the interactive exhibits and light show added to the excitement of the visit. The gift shop offered a variety of souvenirs to remember the experience. Overall, the Rhine Tower exceeded my expectations and made for an unforgettable outing in Düsseldorf!"

Breathtaking view.
€11+ to go up into a super hot tower, they need to install an AC here! ( They presumably do this so you buy expensive drinks at the top of the tower to cool you down. )
It was 10° outside, I wore a t-shirt, and I was still sweating there!
Food is quite expensive as well.
The view is good.

This was quite a experience and worth it! You can park near the tower, a parking garage across the street for just 2 euro. The entry was not expensive, 10 euro per person or so. Acces to only 1 level and you have a look around the city for 360°. You can freely walk around and if you want lunch or take a drink, also toilets available. We watched the view for a 30min to 1 hours. Just go, even when you are afraid of heights!

Tiger & Turtle is a distinctive and attractive landmark featuring a spiral sculpture and walkway made of steel and zinc. The unique design by Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth offers impressive views from its elevated location, however, it may not be suitable for those with acrophobia. Visitors can easily find free parking nearby and enjoy the structure without any entrance fee or amenities like restrooms. Benches are available for seating while admiring the stunning pink flowers underneath.
Truly unique and beautiful place to visit. Really creative design. Easy to find a free parking place and just a short climb uphill to get there. Pretty neat views from up above. No entrance fee. No facilities like restrooms. Benches and trash cans are present. The pink flowers underneath the structure smell awesome. Not the best place to visit if you're afraid of heights.

A fun stop on the way to wuppertal. The structure is good to look at and fun to walk.
I stumbled on this attraction through a goggle search. We parked along the road for free. Then, we did a short up hill walk to the rollercoater looking structure.
Some people went straight up the grassy embankment, but we followed the more gentle path round.
When you step onto the structure, you decide which half to do first. It moves slightly with the breeze or the other people moving, and as you approach the gate where it is to steep to climb, you start to battle with your sense of what is safe. I suffer a little with a fear of heights, so I did not quite make it to the gate.
A good free stop to stretch the leg on a longer journey.

Great view, industrial areas makes it an assest and more interesting. Don’t get your hopes up to walk the upside-down part a it’s not designed for it. For people who are afraid of heights - railings are solid and quite high making it feel very safe. Construction may shake a little so if you are sensitive try to avoid congestions. And most important entrance free of charge.

One of the most beautiful sites in the Ruhr region.
Archaeological park featuring full-size reconstructions of Roman houses, temples & an amphitheater.
Very big park on a historical site where the past is brought back to the present.
I hope much more will be excavated and many more buildings reconstructed.
Becouse what has been done is very much like the real deal with a very great kwality. Like the northern gate and the amphitheater are my personal favorites.
Definitely worth a visit if you like history.

A great and detailed reconstruction of the ancient Roman city "Colonia Ulpia Traiana" (CUT). The park covers many different parts of Roman life and contains a lot of buildings with information boards. Our group had a tour guide who took us through the most important stations of the park (in German) and I can only recommend that. Nice lady who knew her topic very well and made everything exciting for children. A must-visit for every Latin student!

One of the most beautiful and well created archeological site. The park is really huge. In trip advisor and various other review sites, people talk about spending nearly 3hrs here. Well, you need atleast a day to really feel and understand the history behind this place. The park could be entered through multiple entries which are primarily the 3 active gates of the park. The main attractions in the park are Hafentempel, Roemer Museum, Amphitheater and the walls and towers near the Amphitheater. There is a windmill in the middle of the park. It is converted into cafe and they don't allow people to go up to view from the terrace which is shame. Apart from that the entire archeological park is must see! It is only 800m from the railway station.
Sreeram Sadasivam — Google review
Unfortunately I felt a bit disappointed by the visit here. The site is actually well maintained and the staff are very helpful but I was unsure about the treatment of the archaeology still present on site in that according the guide the recreated structures have been built on top of the original (roman) remains.
I had a feeling this was to an extent the wrong way to treat and to clearly separate what was old and original and what was a recreation. Having said that the recreations are very good as far as I can determine but many of the people I overheard thought wrongly these were in fact true old roman structures.
The site is very large and there are very limited excavations visible (Mar 24). If you do go then make sure you also have a stroll around Xanten. St. Viktor is quite beautiful inside.

A History museum done right. Experimental architecture is thé best way to help people imagine the past. The archaeological Museum Xanten shows how it can be done. Even though this might not be for everyone, for those interested in history, with all levels of prerequisite knowledge, it's a great visit. The (partial) reconstruction of the houses, the amphitheater and the temple are great and I particularly enjoyed the ship building shed. Germany's largest archaeological open-air museum invites you to an exciting excursion into history. Impressive buildings such as the harbor temple and the amphitheater, residential buildings and bathing facilities provide vivid insights into life in Roman Germania.
In addition, the award-winning LVR-RömerMuseum, excavations and activities to participate offer a variety of incentives to approach Roman times with all your senses.
For children, the meadows and large playgrounds offer many opportunities to let off steam and discover.
Good value for money and reasonably priced selection of food, drinks coffee also fair prices. Really good place for kids. Playing area very clean and beautiful 😻 my kids and other kids also really enjoyed! Thank you so much for your good maintenance.
The Overloon War Museum is a large museum in the town of Overloon that focuses on WWII history, displaying military vehicles and weapons while also highlighting a local battle. The museum has been recently renovated and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about past wars, particularly WWII. One highlight of the museum is the Militracks Weekend held in May each year, which features displays of army vehicles, tanks, jeeps, and markets.
Initial exhibition area at the front of the museum is a wide open and quite sparsely populated. But as soon as you get to the large "storage hall" in the back that is where all the hardware is stored.
An excellent exhibit is the Lancaster that was dug up from the mud with all the pieces located as part of the fuselage.
Other hardware is in great shape with loads of pieces from tanks trucks and planes.

Impressive museum about the second world war (WW2). This is the best WW2 museum I have been too (so far) that describes the reality of the war. The collection of people that experienced the war was very impressive and interesting. They tell the story of different people in the war. The collection of tanks, artillery, other vehicles and planes is impressive. Around these there are weapons, ammo, shells and electronics ordered. Also very interesting are the military bikes and the impressive amphibious vehicles. This is a museum worth the visit. Also outside there is a big nice park.

The items are original and the story about it, how it's explained is pretty good.
There is a big hall with alot of vehicles and other war machinery.

A must go for everybody with intriguing personal stories to make the war touchable. I went there with my 15 year old daughter and she liked it. I could enrich the displays with some back ground info. Questions like what is a glider, what is a radar, what are these metal tripods doing outside and how does a V-1 fly. I would have liked more explanations on how it all works. Some displays are very unique like the boat Yvette and the Lancaster bomber display. Also why not a recruitment leaflet, how to join the army? There were many schoolkids from some high school when we visited. They should also consider a career in the army. War is not some stuffy thing from the past. It is all around us!

For any WW2 buffs, this is heaven! I spent 4 hours wandering through the exhibits. Many well known and underappreciated pieces were on offer to look over, notably a Panzer V and Stug self propelled gun.
For english speakers, the app to bring up English translations was well worth using to get the most out of this amazing museum in a quaint and very important town in the history of Operation Market Garden.

This was our last stop on our trip to visit WWI battlefields and cut across Belgium and the Netherlands. This is a very comprehensive museum full of great exhibits mostly on WWII. Many of them are based on German equipment which one (at least I never found any) cannot find in Germany proper.
A storyboard tells the story of what it was like living on the border when the Wehrmacht stormed across the border as well as what life was like under German occupation. Loads of exhibits show life on and off the battlefield.
Though most of the museum is aimed at World War II, there are many great exhibits of previous and later conflicts.

A friend recommended visiting and we drove over. Very glad to have had a chance to visit and look at the collection of World War II vehicles, weapons, and exhibits. It was wet weather when we visited, so we only got to tour the inside, however the impact I felt from the museum was huge. The sheer amount and types of vehicles really portrays the scope of the war in a graphic way. The Lancaster wreckage display was very impactful as well.
I would definitely go back to explore the grounds as well if I ever get the chance!

Amazing place to visit, especially when the weather is good. A lot of old houses form Netherlands collected in one place, perfect to learn about Dutch history. Very kids friendly, with dedicated paly ground and tram line around the whole park. Located on the outskirts of Arnhem on the hills and surrounded by woods. Kind of a must-see in Netherlands.

This wonderful open air museum is a fascinating experience to be enjoyed. Be sure to start your trip with a ride on the tram so that you have an idea of what the museum has to offer. Each tram stop beings you to a different themed village. It is astonishing to see how the Netherlands have evolved over time and the way we live. There is so much detail given to the history of the buildings and the actors also help to enhance the overall experience. We unfortunately went on a very wet day so we did not see everything there was to offer. The facilities are great and clean. There are ramps for those in wheelchairs. There is a lovely gift shop at the entrance information centre.

Very nice museum, really interesting and diverse collection. Loved that there are actors who recreate what life used to look like. I found them to be very friendly and open for questions. It didn't expect it to be so large and so rich of contents. From what I've seen from google, it seems like a fun destination. A destination where a family can enjoy together. Yes it is. But, it's much more than that. It basically tells you how Dutch people lived in the past, both the beauty and the ugliness. The sites are rather simple, but they tell the story well.
Me and my wife always walk slowly in a museum to understand what is the story and what are the interesting facts. We always walk with google in our hand to understand the context. For this particular museum, it's exhausting and time consuming to do so since it's so large. So, go twice or thrice!

The museum is special and very fun to get around. Nice to walk around and get back in the tram. Except a playground in the middle there weren’t many activities for young ones. The guides and demonstrations are all in dutch so wouldn’t recommend for young kids from out of country.

A brief and detailed glimpse to the history of the Dutch people. This place has all the real 1:1 replicas of the houses, people lived in. Farmhouses, cheese factory, blacksmith and more. There are also live demos of actors which help to demonstrate the lifestyle that was back then.
The place also has a small train which circles the whole park, and stops on each interest point, the children loved it. We spent here half a day, some people spend here almost the entire day, depends on the ages of the children. There is also a children’s place where the can run and climb, in front of it you can find a small restaurant which offers soups, beer, wine and more

An absolute marvel! Great visitors centre, café staff and gift shop and that's before you become completely involved in the surroundings, trams buildings and history that exudes from every angle and exhibit. We could easily taken a second day and still enjoyed every minute, the literature doesn't do this wonderful place any justice, definitely one not to miss if you're going to Holland 🤗😜😍❤️🇳🇱

It's a must see. Very interesting place. Very well maintained. It took us around 3 hours to go around the park. You have the option to walk or else get the tram inside the museum. Coffee, ice cream and other food can be bought. Also noticed that it is dog friendly.

Christmas time!
Second visit to Open Air Museum-be prepared for small Christmas market (including entertainment for the kids and not only), nice atmosphere; pitty that the snow is missing, but the winter just began.

If you want to see a different part of Dutch history this is a must see. Although it is a large property you can utilise the free hop on hop off tram to get to the various areas
It stops at a number of platforms and there's no more than a 5 minute wait between trams. There are also plenty of facilities - toilets, restaurants - available as well. Great day out for all ages.

This was a nice visit but the buildings have all been closed. Sad to have found this out too late. The only restaurant open was the one in the main building. Still it was nice to have the information in English and German.

Very good museum giving you an idea of people living in Netherlands centuries ago. Diverse, bright, inviting, educative, interesting for all ages. There's a tram taking you around the territory with a few stops, very handy for elderly people or families with little kids.

It's huge. One day is not enough to experience it all.
Tip: Make use of the train after experiencing each section to save on energy. Pick a few interesting parts within each section if you want to see it all in one day
Tip 2: There are a lot of family oriented activities such as back to past dress-up photography. I enjoyed that.
Tip 3: It's not busy at entry but I always find it handy to buy tickets online.
Tip 4: Wear comfortable footwear. You will walk a lot. Adds to the fun though.
The Burgers' Zoo is a large zoo in the Netherlands that specializes in animals from all over the world, including many rare breeds. The zoo has a realistic reconstruction of their natural habitats, making it a popular tourist destination.
Very, very nice zoo! Really recommend to go.
See also all the photos I made. This will give a good impression in how close you will be able to get to the animals.
They route and layout is very clear. Different animal worlds, like desert, ocean, etc.
Obviously a bit more busy in child holidays, so would be better outside those....

I generally don’t go to zoos, but this place was just amazing. Loved the way they have created and maintained different habitats. Restaurants inside the rainforest offer best dining experience with life all around. Needs entire day to properly explore the place.

I'm not a big fan of zoos, I was here with my team from work and I had little investment in the process of deciding a destination.
Although this looks much better maintained than a lot zoos I remember, I can't imagine this being in favor of the animals.
The different themed areas are nicely designed and there's a lot spaces to keep children busy, which is great because you rarely hear kids screaming.
Of course the shops and restaurants are expensive and sell the usual shirts, key chains, plates, you name it.
In contrast to Germany, you can pay everything anywhere with card or mobile. Love that.

Incredible zoo, the different zones were set up so well and made you feel part of the eco system. Lots for the kids to do also with both Indoor and outdoors play areas, we really liked seeing the manatees and the Elephants as well as the desert critters, there is also animals roaming around freely which was nice.

Great experience with family in the zoo. A lot to see. Prepare to walk. Feels like in a tropical forest and on safari in certain sections of the zoo, there are indoor and outdoor sections. The cafe is great too for lunch, coffee and cakes.

Such a beautiful combination of bush+zoo+desert+ocean and many other things to see .
*Highly recommended for adults and children.
*Provide many EV charging station will give it extra bounce.
There are more than one restaurant and cafe corner.
Visitors with kids will love it very accessible with the kid stroller all around the place .
I thought first the ticket price is high but when you are inside you will realize how this place well made and organized.

One of the best zoological parks in Europe.
Founded in 1913 by Johan Burgers. A 15 min (very nice scenery!) bus ride from the center of Arnhem.
It's a huge park with a great variety of animals and with the goal to preserve and rescue endangered species.
The staff is friendly, helpful and have great knowledge about their animals.

Very nice zoo! We enjoyed the zoo for its nice and spacious enclosures. The zoo has a good balance between good acces to the animals and rest for the animals. Very nice pathways and nice foliage all around. There is a very wide selection of animals. The mangrove enclosure is a work of art. The manatees are amazing. The chimpansee and gorilla enclosures are also impressive. Enough restaurants. The food/souvenirs were expensive. The ticket price is fitting for such a nice zoo. The pathways are also very accessible for strollers. Very accessible for toddlers all around. This Zoo has perfected being a Zoo.

Very big zoo, with a large range of animals. There's also three playgrounds, one of which is indoors.
The animals seem well cared for and their cages are not too small.
The layout is a bit confusing and a few more sanitary stations could be added. There's a musical now, and the logo on the plan obscures a few paths. I would recommend using the plan from their website, as it doesn't feature the stupid ad and you can actually see _all_ the paths.
Admission price is very steep. On top of that, €8 for parking seems very excessive. But hey, judging by the amount of people there on a rainy day, they can get away with it.
Pieter Biesemans — Google review
This zoo is a personal favorite due to its diverse animals and realistic ecosystems. From deserts to tropical bushes, the experience is immersive. Animals are well cared for, and the zoo offers ample facilities. Visit early till closing for a comfortable, day-long exploration. Online tickets are recommended to avoid short weekend lines as well as to avail some nice online discounts. Should you plan to visit regularly, an annual pass is a must.

Probably the most beautiful zoo I've ever been to!
I'm not really interested in the Safari-type sections of zoos but every other section we went round multiple times as they were incredible
Love the theming of zones and the enclosure design

It's a beautiful zoo especially like this Sunday when it was raining most part of the day. De jungle(Bush) is great fun to do with you children. The aquariums are gorgeous. Furthermore there is a huge variety in places where to eat with each having there own theme. The prices are high that is true but we'll spend.

Incredibly gorgeous place, they don't just have amazing animals but the park itself is also amazing to walk through without even looking to the animals. But the animals are amazing too, such a variety! Make sure to be early because we got lucky to see nearly all animals because they were feeding them.

An amazing Zoo to visit with kids. There are many restaurants and kids playgrounds.
The ocean (aquarium) is breath taking, huge and has a variety of sea animals.
The concept of different environments is a real interesting experience.
You can easily spend 5 hours here if you have kids!

A lovely zoo for all ages. The zoo is divided into several different zones which are very nicely dressed accordingly. What I personally likes a lot was the safari restaurant which was spacious and had a lovely view over the safari enclosure. Here, you could grab a snack or drink while watching safari animals like giraffe's and zebras. The prices for the food here are quite on the high-end in my opinion though. Another touch I liked where the small "offroad" trails in the bush area which gave me a real exploring feeling.

We really enjoyed our visit at Burgers' Zoo. The park has a lot of area's (Ocean, Bush, Mangrove, Desert etc) where you can wander around. You can clearly see a lot of love went into creating and maintaining these areas. Food at the restaurants is a bit on the expensive side so you might want to consider bringing your own.

Still, I think, the best Zoo in The Netherlands. Explored it and was again amazed by the Ocean, Safari, Dessert etc. Enough parking, no waiting at entrance (our luck) at plenty of restaurants to have a rest. Burgers' Zoo, after 30 years since my last visit, still on no. 1

Such a wonderful place for these beautiful animals. The zoo is not only well maintained but the residents here are looking like they enjoy their life so much. Let alone the bush and the dessert area. Infinite fun 🤩

This is one of the best zoos in the Netherlands. I have visited this zoo several times, and it is always an adventure. You can easily spend a day here.
The zoo covers diverse habitats such as deserts, savannas, and oceans. You'll find lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, tigers, and countless bird species, representing a wide range of big and small animals. In a thoughtful manner, the zoo educates the public about how human actions are disrupting the habitats of these animals, plants, and our planet in general. I particularly enjoy the ocean section, where you can observe and learn about various sea animals and plants. It is also highly educational for kids. The animals are well treated, though it's important to note that, being a zoo, they are kept without their will.
There are numerous playgrounds for kids. While the zoo offers several restaurants, they tend to be overpriced and not the best in terms of quality. Be sure to prepare yourself well for a long and adventurous day.

Top day out!!! A zoo with different themes and play areas.
Easy to walk around, not too big and plenty of restaurants and a picnic area overlooking the giraffes!
Sarah Mc Loughlin — Google review
The zoo is amazing! It is the best place to spend the day with kids! There are playgrounds, an aquarium, many wonderful pavilions with a variety of plants and animals. Many of the animals can be seen up close, and they are in a large area, not at all like cages, which does not make me sad. The menu of the restaurants is a disappointment, I think it could be much more varied and healthy. Otherwise everything is marvellous!
Elen — Google review
Best zoo I've ever been to. Most animals have enough space, live in similar habitats as they do in the wild. The biomes flow into eachother.
Kaas Kop — Google review
They have an amazing inside area, so even on rainy days its a great visit. If you buy the yearly subscription, you can go in without any effort however many times you want, great for regular walks too! With family, alone, doesn't matter, this zoo is for everyone. Just be polite to the animals and respect the staff members. They do amazing work for this zoo. If there is any place I would like to see improved its the dessert area, the dessert area is the most unpopular area, mainly because there aren't as many animals to see like the Bush, Ocean or Mangrove. They are around you in the dessert but not really, I'd love to see more unique dessert animals that work well with visitors walking through. For example reptiles, but of course this wouldn't work well if you have a Lynx and Warthogs there. So I get their choices, but I think the dessert area could definitely use a revamp. Other than that the rest of the zoo is amazing. There is also a bird area in the back which could use some more love. My 2nd favorite zoo in the netherlands!

The Palace of Het Loo in Apeldoorn is one of the most important national museums in the Netherlands. It has an excellent art collection, and there are guided tours of the royal apartments.
Beautiful gardens and well maintained palace with interesting audio tours. Yes the work is still ongoing to finish the front of the palace but still worth a visit. Don’t miss out on visiting the roof, especially on a beautiful day - the entrance is a bit hidden so I missed it the first time, had to ask for directions to find it.
Emma LC — Google review
Beautiful palace with beautifully restored interiors. The gardens are also breathtaking. Fully rated spoil grapes shop full of nonsense, where you can't even buy a postcard or a magnet with a palace. They don't even have any text or brochure here, just audio guides. The app could not be downloaded from the Play Store.
Mat?j Bekera — Google review
Download the app and audio tour before you go. Tour is great - informative while being entertaining and never boring. Really high quality.
Palace is great, with very helpful friendly and informative staff spread around and happy to answer questions.
Suggest allowing c1.5 hours for the Palace if doing the two sections of the audio tour, and a further 30 mins minimum for the gardens, or 1.5 hours if you intend to do the formal gardens and the orange route around the boating lake (all of which are well worth doing).
The new gallery space below the courtyard is amazing, with an interesting g exhibition about the project.

Beautiful and great looking palace. Inside there honestly isn’t really all that to do or look at but the few exhibitions and rooms you can check out are worth to check. It’s nice that they give you access to the rooftop as well which shows a beautiful view of the gardens and the surrounding area. I didn’t have time to visit the garden but if you’re there definitely visit the gardens as well, they look beautiful.

Beautiful castle, we went there for the "princess day" and it was very well organised. The gardens are beautiful. The castle itself is closed due to renovation and it will open somewhere next year so I'm looking forward to visiting again once it's fully open.

Very beautiful place. Brand new museum! 2 bar cafes restaurants with amazing lunch as well. A lot of facilities to visit and a great story to read. You need at least 3 hours to discover all the palace rooms and then at least 1 hour to walk through the gardens. There is a hike root as well so be prepared with hat, water and good shoes!
Theano — Google review
Really nice place! Lots to see! We went there just a bit before closing and ended up getting to the gardens right before they started to kick people out. If you end up with the same problem - go to the very end of the gardens first and then walk back - because they start moving people out in that direction.
Layout of the Palace was a little confusing we ended up missing one side of it but we also knew we needed to go to the gardens before they close.
Make sure you go to the rooftop! The views of the garden are maybe even better than what you would see down there.

Beautifully renovated Royal Palace in prime condition with amazing gardens in a huge park. Built by/for William III of William and Mary fame (the guy who conquered England in 1666).
The outside is Dutch Renaissance with French formal gardens and a more English park.
The inside is a wonderful collection of rooms in the Renaissance, Baroque, Empire and 1930s styles. Plus the lush new entrance in a very marbly 2020s style.
Catering is so-so. The 2 restaurants could not sell us a bottle of water for my thirsty kids. There is no vending machine, strangely.
Parking is easy and plentiful, but not cheap at 8 euros. Public transportation access is good from the Apeldoorn station.
Ventilation is disappointing. I measured up to 1,050 ppm on a reasonably busy day. Not good enough. It smells stuffy too, which cannot be good for the palace and its contents.
There are two good merchandise shops but nothing I could use in a modern styled home, apart from the obligatory fridge magnet. I think foreign visitors might love the shopping.
The broader Veluwe area is lovely and has amusement parks, forests, a hunting lodge, a Van Gogh museum and a monkey zoo.

I really enjoyed visiting this Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn. With the museumkaart is free, though the parking is paid.
The palace is really big though visits are only allowed in part of it. The palace is really well conserved and preserved.
It has a huge garden super beautiful that you can see from the rooftop. You can also walk there and even go to the forest that is part of the visit. This forest is really worth the try so take your boots/sneakers. It has a huge and beautiful lake, statues and things like that.
You can spend an entire day over there, if you want. There is a cafe where you can buy some food / drinks.
For me, the best was the library. For those who like books, is difficult not to like it.
Cl?udia Pereira — Google review
Having visited many outstanding palaces and gardens in the UK & Europe this is certainly in our top 5, the gardens are impressive and impeccably maintained.
The entrance to the palace via the underground atrium is spectacular, although the palace is sparsely furnished it doesn’t detract form it’s grandeur.
Andrew Holt — Google review
It is very nicely organised with several routes and tours to follow. The app that you can download can give you the tour as well. Written or spoken.
Beautiful Palace as expected ofcourse! Each room with a story of its own and all the little details present, will keep you busy for as long as you'd like.
Don't forget to look up!
The restaurant is decent enough with decent prices.
The reason why it only get 3 stars from me is this:
In the public Palace gardens in front of the Palace itself, the are some nice benches you can sit and relax. To bad there's a lot of trash laying around. This also has to do with the little amount of bins available.
Inside the Palace, it is so unbelievably busy, that (at least I did) the feeling of being rushed has a constant presence. People almost pushing themselves into the next room, not keeping in account that they are not the only once there. That really put down the experience it gave.
Dennis van Bommel — Google review
Former Palace of the Royal family of the Netherlands, now a museum. Has been renovated recently. It does showcase the palace in different "states"- you can see rooms as they were in the beginning of the monarchy but also some how they looked like just 70 years ago.
Tip: download the app beforehand and bring a headset
Also plan enough time for the garden (if the weather permits it).

Palais Het Loo is really beautiful. You can spend the whole day visiting it, with your friends and family members. You can start with the indoor part of the castle and then see the beautiful gardens. You can click beautiful photos and videos to keep them as memories or share them with your dear ones. You can have a drink or lunch in the restaurant of the castle. Can't wait to visit it again!

Fabulous combination between new and old architecture! watching the play of light with the water of the fountain from below is fascinating. the finest materials in the new building but by no means ostentatious. magnificent view from the roof of the palace. wonderful gardens. in the rearmost part of the site you can relax wonderfully by the lake.

a non-pretentious baroque castle, only the dutch could accomplish that. inside still pretty fancy rooms of course. also the baroque lower and upper garden. at the end there also is an entrance/ exit to the castle forest, closes at 16.30! Apenheul, a Dutch animal park located in Apeldoorn, offers visitors the opportunity to observe over 200 primates freely roaming around. In addition to the main attraction of observing these creatures up close, Apenheul also features a treetop trail and a nocturnal monkey house. For those looking to make the most out of their visit, combining Apenheul with a trip to Palace Het Loo provides a full day's worth of activities.
Amazing place, not only for kids but for adults too! You are really close to the monkeys and you see them jumping around the park. Before entering, you are advised to put your belongings inside a closed bag (they are free and with different sizes). You can walk around the whole park without any problem and there are services inside (restaurants, toilet, etc.)

Amazing all day experience. Very big park, most monkeys walking freely. The gorilla show is a must! Only downside is the limited eating facilities, besides krokets and hot dogs there is only fries if you get hungry even though it is really an all-day activity
E Berenyi — Google review
Apenheul is an insane place, we were two adults and had lots of fun! Lots of monkeys close to you! Some practicalities
- Lockers need a 1€ coin, make sure to have one with you (The coin is returned at the end)
- Parking has to be paid with card and the maximum is €9.30 a day
- Even if you go with a backpack they will make you put your stuff in the park’s official bags (no charge)
- We walked without a rush and the total time spent in the park (including Gorilla feeding presentation) was 3 hours
- All paths in the park are possible for wheelchairs / trolleys 👌🏻
- There are services 🚾 in different points of the park so you can drink lots of water without that being an issue
- We went with a bag with water, chips, sandwiches and since everything is so flat, carrying is not so bad 🧊
- We went from Amsterdam, going by public transportation was (roughly) 19€ per person each way so it was definitely worth to rent a car (in the end, payed like 75€ for mywheels)
It’s a beautiful experience, recommended for everyone!

Very nice park where some of the monkeys are roaming free.. not all ofcourse. Enough places to eat and drink within the park. Just make sure none of your pockets and bags are open because these monkeys will steal anything! Very cool for the younger kids!

There is a lot of walking, but the children have an incredible joy to see the monkeys so close. In the center of the zoo there is also a huge playground for children, where you can easily spend an extra hour. The best way to see many species of monkeys, which have been created in conditions close to natural. A place worth spending every euro.

If you arrive early (from 10 a.m to 2 p.m) the monkeys do absolutely nothing but sleep and chill. Food, drinks and souvenirs are very expensive. And a lot of the fun parts are closed for some reason.

Beautiful zoo, with 35 species of monkeys, including gorillas, chimps, orang utans, bonobos, gibbons, but also sloths and cabibaras. Great park with surprising enclosures. Parking is a bit of a walk, but affordable (10 euro for a day) and the walk is through the park where the zoo is located in.

Lovely park in a beautiful forest setting. The drive there is lovely as well, don't take the highway, take the N-numbered-routes! In the park many areas where monkeys just walk among the people. Don't need to plan for a whole day, doable in about 4 hours (cheaper tickets from 2:00pm available).
TeuLira Family — Google review
Visited as an adult couple while on holiday. All the signs are in Dutch, German and English, and the staff were happy to help when our Google translating wasn't good enough to make an educated guess. Despite the drizzle, there were plenty of species pottering about under the trees, with no evidence that they had been forced outside (and plenty of other species that had sensibly taken themselves inside to gaze out the windows at the rain!). Got close to quite a few different species, in particular the squirrel monkeys, red howler monkeys and Barbary macaques, but all the animals we saw seemed well adjusted to captive life and not afraid of doing their own thing close to visitors. Gorilla show is only in Dutch, but this is noted on signs, and would have been fine if the silverback hasn't come out, taken a bite of chicory and then decided that the offering was not outweighing the rain and scarpered sedately off! Can't blame him! Humans had jackets and were sitting under a canopy in the dry, after all!

A great day out for all the family. Walk around the well marked route ( good access for wheelchair and people with walking disabilities), and mingle with the many free running monkeys (more than 30 different types to find). Make sure you find the time to visit the three shows ( all in Dutch, but the staff speak English and are willing to answer any questions). Unfortunately we found the food on offer at the restaurant! to be very expensive and not very nice ( when we visit again, we will take our own food with) large parking area, cost between €10 and €11. (bus stop on main road near to parking area)Approx 10 minutes walk from carpark to the entrance.

Looks well-maintained and exciting for kids. It takes about 10 minutes of walking from the parking lot to Apenheul's entrance. You walk through a beautiful park. Apenheul itself was busy, but less busy than I expected during summer holidays. There are lots of species and the animals seem to be doing OK from uneducated eyes, like mine. The prices for food there are spicy and there are not a lot of options. In hindsight I would have brought food from home. Take a light backpack because you need to wear it facing the front.

Ouwehands Zoo, located in Rhenen, is a renowned establishment known for its diverse range of animals and naturalistic habitats. One of its main attractions is the presence of giant pandas, making it the only zoo in the Netherlands where these creatures can be found. The zoo offers a relaxing atmosphere with ample space for both animals and visitors. It's particularly suitable for families with children, as there are various play areas available.
Great zoo with a lot of attractions and activities for the kids. Big enough, nicely planned, visually rich. I personally did not like fences here and there, but on the other hand animals get a lot of space. In three hours we just walked through, even skipped some animals. So plan accordingly, the zoo is really big!

The restaurants get busier and there are not much options to eat if you are a vegetarian 🥗

We haven't yet been to the zoo as an ordinary zoo, we went to their night time experience run from the end of November until early January. It's beautiful and rooted in the Chinese lantern festival tradition. Called Aqua Luna it uses large illuminated images of sea creatures as well as other animals. Really quite magical and not a Christmas tree or Santa Claus in sight!

Very good experience.
Well managed.
Good activities for kids.
Night light show is also very nice experience but ticket price is a bit high for this. It's good to buy Combi ticket.
Overall very great experience.

Beautiful zoo with a very big selection of animals. It's a bit outdated, but it doesn't matter. Both children and adults will find here what nice. The most important thing for us was to see pandas, since my child is a big fan of them. There are two of them in Ouwehands zoo.

It is an amazing place, would be better is at least the map and signs could be in English too, would be much more attractive for expats and foreigns

Very nice looking zoo. Great personnel and nice dinner. Sadly the pandas were busy making love so we couldn't see them.

This zoo is really good. At entry you have a big spacious parking with separate entry and exit gates for persons and vehicles
The zoo has lot of kids rides which are indoor and outdoor. There are lot of restaurants inside and evenly spread.
The place is wheelchair friendly and stroller friendly and lot of toilets are also there.
You can find from acquatic to terrestrial and some wild animals all in here.
Must visit
Theme park with family-friendly & white-knuckle thrill rides, plus water attractions.
Great day at a wonderful theme park - though some times the lines were really long, so I'd recommend buying a pack of 'fast passes' to use when this occurs. The park is themed differently to others, but I quite liked it - it was quirky! Definitely a good day out.

Brilliant, clean, great park. Great selection of modern coasters and some classics: a log flume and 'Enterprise' ride (called G-Force). The only small criticism are the main coasters are full on white knuckle or for smaller kids, an improvement would be some intermediate ones. Overall one of the best parks I've been to though would still recommend for everyone 👌
Nicholas Richardson — Google review
Take it from someone who doesn’t like such parks, it’s an insane place. Lots of adrenaline activities, huge space. Went there on a Sunday and there were no entry queues.
There are 5 sensation levels, I made it only to the third one and was mortified, but there were amazing coasters for the high-adrenaline lovers. There are more than 40 activities to choose from, all levels.
Plenty of food options throughout the park grounds but mostly burgers. I found the gift shops particularly expensive.
Plamena Valyanova (Pamz) — Google review
Amazing park, not so themed but thrilling rides. They have rollercoasters for all types of people. Very good rides for smaller kids aswell. It was quite busy when we went (summer holidays) and My favorite was “untamed” def is one of my top 10 coasters!

Very big and nice amusement park. In some of the places you couldn't play the arcade games because they just take your coin and crash afterwards.. Some of the personal is really nice the others are grumpy... When we where getting home some of the employees where in the bus without masks

Great park with fun for everyone from little to adults. 6 exciting roller coasters, two of them in world top ten for highest G force.
Kids rides are separate and kids below 120cm can enjoy there.
Food options are not so many but ok.
Parking is huge and you pay before hand or then and there.

Great variety of rollercoasters! Would definitely go back! 🙌🏼🤹🏻♀️🎪🤩 We went on a Saturday and arrived around 1pm. The first queue was crazy long so we ditched it. The rest of the queues were decent. Wait time was around 10/15 minutes. Toward 3pm we didn’t wait more than 5 minutes! Was just sad the bungee required additional payment. Overall great!
Chanelle Soncini — Google review
A nice theme park with some cool areas and a number of elite rollercoasters such as untamed and goliath. Lost gravity is also a fun ride. There are some good flat rides and a vekoma madhouse
Ben Scholey — Google review
This park is really amazing, especially for thrill seekers. Untamed is just world-class if you ride it at night in the back. Highly recommend Fright Nights! The halloween attractions are well themed and especially Below was a unique experience. The food is very good, the atmosphere at Fright Nights with the shows, all the lights and lasers and scare actors is just amazing.
Daniel DK — Google review
Clearly seen better days especially with some of its older rides and themeing. But the new area is gorgeous and fully what the rest of the park should be. The rides themselves, especially the roller coasters were actually excellent and all felt incredible. It's not on the same tier as some other big parks, but it has some great rides. Vegan options leave a lot to be desired but that's true for a lot of rural Netherlands. A great day and a great park for what it is.
Imogen Lloyd — Google review
Interesting and fun theme park, a plethora of rollercoasters to pick from for the more daring.
But also a few less intense attractions for those that enjoy less intensity, don’t miss out on the water attractions such as Crazy River, El Rio Grande and the especially wet one Splash Battle. They will have you come out 💦 soaking💦 if you are unlucky with the water especially refreshing on a hot summer day.
To be able to see and experience most things I would recommend a day or two depending on how early you get there, the weather and what YOU enjoy.

Wow!! Simply amazing. Beats my expectations. If you are thrill seeker and fan of roller coasters, then Walibi is for you. Reach Harderwijk station and catch Walibi express to the park. There is not just 1,2 or 3 roller coasters but 7 and sky diving is cherry on the cake. And kids love them. I went on Easter holidays and was able to do it more than once most of the rides. Plus there are nice cafes and lot of fast food options. Highly recommended.

If you like roller coasters and thrill rides, this is the place for you! On Halloween, part of the park is also spookily decorated. Large selection of snacks such as burgers, fries (also loaded), kebabs, hot dogs, waffles and sweet Dutch specialties.
Denny K (CmdrChakotay) — Google review
One of the best roller coasters. Untamed was so nice and fun. I tried all the roller coaster and had fun. Surprisingly waiting time was less on Sunday. We had to wait for lost gravity for more than half an hour.
We were really looking to ride speed of sound but it was closer for maintenance.
Overall experience was nice 😊

Awesome place to spend the weekend. A lot of attractions to try for kids and grown ups.
There are lockers to rent, small (5€) and bigger (7€). You can also have your backpack with you, and before the ride there are boxes where you can put it and collect after a ride.
Variety of food to buy but also there are tables and chair where you can sit and have your own food.
There is also free sun cream spots
Enjoy the Walibi
Dolphin, seal & walrus shows & demonstrations in major marine animal park with touch tanks.
We visited with our 10 year old daughter; it was my first time back since I was a kid. I appreciate how they’ve made possible for kids to get close and experience these animals, while keeping the focus on the animals’ care and well-being rather than on entertaining. We had a lovely time. Also, kudos to the very clever coffee deal: Get a reusable cup and refills on all warm drinks at the park are free.

Seeing dolphins was the best!! The show was amazing. I also enjoyed seeing sea lions and walruses. It is not a big place but you can enjoy your time there with family and friends. There were not many cheap food options.

Very nice experience of seeing dophins, seals and sea lions in their own type of habitat! The dolphin show inside the grand arena is also amazing! Always buy tickets online - no ticket selling at the facility
Anca Dumitru — Google review
Small place but a good visit for the experience. Keep the expectations low and you would very well enjoy. Check for online discounts you would find few. The Harderwijk village itself was very beautiful. P2 has day ticket. Better to park there and walk to the entrance. It takes 4-5 mins. Parking ticket was 10.5 eur. Obviously dolphins were the main attraction. Apart from the shows go to the underground to have near by view of dolphins and walrus. There are slides and play stuff for kids to fully engage. The beach and water slides were closed when we went.
Satya R — Google review
It has lost its charm. No great shows. Hardly couple of them. They have not maintained well. Very unclean. This place was best 4-5 years before with full fledged entertainment for kids. But I would not suggest anyone to visit and even the ticket price is high. Also the restaurants are closed inside. Not fun anymore.

Great place to spend with the kids. Water play area in summer added bonus . 4 star rating because because in dolphin show acoustics not good and a glow wand toy was being sold for 10 euro a piece ( just a basic toy that lights up ) kind of sad because a lot of kids would not have got one because of the ridiculous price

If you are a curious aquatic life lover you should definitely visit.
You will get to know a lot of information about the fishes and dolphins. Just know the information will be provided in Dutch. The place is great for kids and adults as well.
There is one main show of dolphin in the grand theatre and it’s in English and a must watch. It’s enticing they treat all the animals so well. The tricks dolphins do it’s beautiful to watch.
We did dolphin experience as well which is paid extra where you can touch and play with dolphins and learn a little more about them. It was quite an experience to have. I would totally recommend it but it’s a bit pricey. Totally your call.

Amazing place for a day trip for kids and even adults. We love all the shows, especially how well executed the Dolphin show is. We have been to this places more than 5 times and still like it. There little village and the walking path next to it, is beautiful, that always a nice way to conclude the trip.
Everything is very well taken care of, and clean, the staffs are very nice too, always smiling and friendly to kids.
The playground is nice and the water park is super. However, the changing room & toilet there need to be improved. The water is a bit cold, so if there is no sun, it can be quite cold, i guess kids have no problem with that.
Totally recommended.

What a beautiful and clean outdoor mall/ fashion outlet. Walking distance to the ship. A travel highlight for my spouse. All the apparel and shoe choices you could want, and much more. We were not hungry but there were some interesting choices and some that looked a bit more local and were busy, so I imagine they were good eating.

This is not a very big outlet but there is sufficient variety of goods, interesting and well known branded products which are not out-dated. You should be able to get something you like at bargain prices. There are also decent eateries to get a bite to eat or take a rest.

for tourists it’s a very fun and nice experience, but if you live in the netherlands and already have been to these kind of outlets it’s not very special. All the outlets are kind of the same. Next time i will go to the West Field Malls. It seems more fun although it’s not an outlet its a shopping mall. Nike outlet store is very nice and the prices are perfect. Had a wonderful experience of shopping in here. It is very close to car parking and have almost all the public amenities. You will find a bench to sit & relax too.
Pj Dhaliwal — Google review
This used to be a great place to get a few good bargains, but now it is pretty much just as expensive as buying from normal sales at regular stores. Most shops barely have 'real' specials - discounts appear to be based on the "Recommended Retail Price" as opposed to the actual high street price...so if you're going to make a special trip prepare to be disappointed...
The Spoorweg Museum is a national railway museum located in Utrecht, Netherlands. It houses an extensive collection of artifacts, models, locomotives and steam trains, making it a great place to explore for train enthusiasts of all ages. During Christmas time, the museum is filled with festive markets and shows.
The best railway museum ever. Simulators and rollercoaster is also available here without a surplus. Recommended time for visit is 3-4 hours. You can reach it by train Ticket office is available during the opening hours, offline and online tickets has the same price.

Great museum about the history of the railroad in the Netherlands. The exhibition is extremely large and is ideal for children and adults. I especially liked the historic station building and the various interactive elements. What was great was that I was also able to enter various carriages. Visitors should plan four hours for the exhibition. The on-site team was extremely friendly and helpful. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office or in advance online.

An excellent day out. They are renovating the back section at the moment, so the miniature railway ride and freight train simulator experience are both shut, but the rest of the museum was still well worth visiting.
The Steel Monsters exhibit was very well put together.
The day we visited (a weekday in April) was relatively quiet. It was nice that they still put on a train from Utrecht Centraal to the museum even when it isn't overly busy. Great for families!
The kids science sections were a hit, some really thorough explanations on how trains work!

We went to the winter wonderland here and had the best time. Activities included ice skating, a carousel and a family photo! There was also a show on outside. We enjoyed the fresh hot donuts and toasting our own marshmallows.
Highly recommend this place. Staff were friendly too.

We went to this museum with my 5 year old son at the weekend. Access to the museum is really easy, walking distance from Utrecht Centraal train station. If you are coming by car, it has its own parking lot right in front of it. You can use this car park for 9.50 Euros. Museumkaart is valid. Inside, you can find everything about trains. It is also very fun for children because there are some special activities for them. For example, there is a special little train and dresin for them in the children's playground outside. You can take a journey from the first steam train in the Netherlands to the present day. You can also go 200 years ago with a time machine and visit a Dutch town that existed at that time. We spent about 4 hours and I advise you to spend at least half a day here.

what could possibly be a really dull museum os perked by some really fascinating exhibitions. some might be a tad scary for little kids (the Steel Monster ride was a bit scary for this big kid!) but overall a really fun, interactive and tangible look at the history of the railway. Great museum for kids, they absolutely love it. Has a couple of nice attractions as well: virtual reality train driving, a small ride, elevator that brings you to ancient times. The only thing that was disappointing was the actor in the Theatre who clearly did not like kids which he expressed for about three times.

The museum's exhibits are not only informative but also beautifully curated, providing a rich historical perspective on the development of railways. I highly recommend seeing this museum if you come to Utrecht. We decided to pay a visit as the weather wasn't great and we weren't disappointed at all. It's huge inside with so much to see and do. Super interactive activities for the children and lots facts to be learned. They installed a winter station as it's Christmas so it's a bonus. There were ice rink and eat and drink places. We came after 3pm so only 10 Euro per head to be paid as a discounted fare (but you have to reserve your place online in advance during festive season). Both adults and children would thoroughly enjoy it.

The Dom Tower is a 112m-high church tower in Utrecht that provides stunning views of the city. It is part of a 14th-/15th-century cathedral complex that was destroyed by a freak hurricane in 1674. The tower can be climbed by guided tour only and offers unbeatable city views.
If ever visited Utrecht , don’t miss the place! It’s really worth to discover. Ticket costed 10 Euro with a guide!

It takes an hour to walk top to bottom. The walk up is broken up into stages of 3 or four stops. The guides are very informative and open to questions. It was in Dutch and English on our trip up. The tower is covered in scaffolding due to restoration work that in due to finish sometime in 2024. Still worth it. 12.50€ per person.

Located in the center of the city and being the landmark of Utrecht and the tallest church tower in the Netherlands are enough reasons to want to visit this great tower. It might be tiring to get on top and a little bit clestophobic but the view of the city i totally worthy of them. The guided tour was great and you learn great information about the history of the city and its changes in time.

The landmark of Utrecht! Can’t wait for the maintenance to be completed in 2024 and for the scaffolding to be removed. Still a beautiful site though and a great climb to the top.
Mathew Love — Google review
Climbed it on the 1st of July. First day it reopened after some time. It was my 4th or 5th time that I climbed it. It’s always a nice experience climbing the stairs of the tower and the explanation that the guide gives on the three different levels where you have a short break before reaching the top. But at the end the main attraction is the view from the top. With the construction still going on the view is limited. Be aware of that! But if your main goal is to learn about the history, see it from the inside and having the experience of climbing to the top then you will not be disappointed.
Heriberto Garcia Ribas — Google review
I visited Dom Tower on a Friday afternoon and took the guided tour of the tower. The tour involves climbing up ~460 stairs to reach the top of the tower along with a tour guide and we stop at 4 stages inside the tower. The stairs get narrower as we climb up and it can feel claustrophobic but the view of the city from the top of the tower is breathtaking! It is an amazing experience to see the giant bells of the tower from close quarters. Kudos to the guide for being so well informed; she gave the tour in both English and Dutch and had the answers to all the questions from the group about the history of the tower.
The only con is that the tower is undergoing restoration work till 2024 so the entire tower is obstructed by scaffolding.
Madhura Amdekar — Google review
A must visit when you explore Utrecht. Even with the construction which prevent you from going all the way to the top, its worth it.
Beware, you will have to climb up the stairs which could be quite challenging and it one of the most fun tour I’ve gotten. You feel feel accomplished by having climbed the tower.
Also, not expensive and quite the experience!

The iconic landmark of Utrecht. Currently it is only possible to enjoy the top of the tower. The full restauration of the tower would be finished in 2025. It is visible from most places in the city and it is the tallest tower of its type in the Netherlands.
Sebastian D'Agostino — Google review
A great guided tour brings you to the very top of this landmark. Unfortunately it was rainy and foggy so the spectacular view was limited. 465 steps, no elevator. Not for the faint-hearted.
Jim Valavanis — Google review
Tour guide was great at explaining the history of the tower.
Do keep in mind that the view at the top was disappointing due to the current scaffolding (which is only coming down in 2024) if you plan on visiting soon.
Jia Wei Lim — Google review
The tower is under construction until spring 2024. If, ahead of the visit, I'd realised that the scaffolding obstructed the view so badly I would have avoided going all the way up the 460+ stairs it takes to get up to the top and came back when it was all removed.
Would have rated 5 stars otherwise.
That being said, the guide was great, very knowledgeable and gave the tour in both English and Dutch. It was great being in the bell tower and being up close to them.
The stairs on the way up get progressively narrow and claustrophobic on way up and can be exhausting so do bear that in mind too before going up.
Tariq Ali — Google review
Tower is under construction, so the view on the top is terrible.
Stairs to the top are very narrow and claustrophobic.
The tickets should have been discounted, since the view is very limited.
You will be able to explore the canals of Utrecht on a pedal boat ride with Stromma Utrecht Canal Tours, which is an authorized tour company. You will have to pay an admission fee, but this is well worth it as you get to see many beautiful sights while riding on the boats. The ride takes about 90 minutes and you can go at your own pace so that you can enjoy the views and atmosphere of this Dutch city.
It's the second time we've tried to swim, we really like it, the biggest route is very beautiful, you can see everything.
Kristina Mačerauskienė — Google review
The guy working here was friendly and realistic, he was appreciated. However , the boats themselves were filthy, felt like they were going to sink and an absolute chore to ride! Felt like we had done a marathon and the allotted time isn’t enough to relax, you have to pedal the whole time. No clear signage as to the right canal you’re on.
Caïna Verrin — Google review
Nice service with a fair price! The boats however are very uncomfortable and they don't move that efficiently given the power used. It will absolutely take you the 2h they say, so don't think you can go super fast and finish sooner, especially in a sunny day. The view that boat offers is quite unique, especially the first part. In case you are short, you can use your backpack as an extension on the seat to be more comfortable, my girlfriend liked it.

Probably the most beautiful activity you can do when visiting Utrecht. Check their opening hours before you go. They are open April, May, June, September and October from Wednesday until Sunday 10h00-18h00. Daily in July and August. Closed November, December, January and February. This way you are never disappointed...

Really fun way to see the beauty of the canals! Would've preferred to have a short cut route option in case someone wants to end it early, as the usual route is 1.5 hrs
Injy Sarhan — Google review
Went to Utrecht for a day out of Amsterdam. As a group of four we almost skipped this canal tour booth until one of us pointed it out.
We each had to then pay an admission fee, but once that was done we were to hop onto a four man pedal boat and explore the canals of this Dutch city.
We were completely blown away with the views and overall friendly atmosphere of the city. The ride takes about 90 minutes but you get to see so much at your own pace and have a fun time doing it.

Super fun and cheap way to see the city from the water! It was only about 9 euro per person for an hours time (which was plenty).
Allison Ehrhart — Google review
Very easy and nice way to see the canals in Utrecht. Yes you must pedal yourself but for us this was way better than sitting on a boat packed with other tourists! And cost effective with different canal choices you can make yourself.
So easy to book and pick up your boat as well.

Reservation was from the website. Three routes; red - the longest, yellow - 1.5 h, blue - the shortest. It was worth seeing Utrecht from this side 😉
The Zuiderzeemuseum is a museum showcasing the sea-based economy, ships and ways of life in the area. It consists of two sections, an indoor Binnenmuseum dedicated to farming, fishing and shipping, and an outdoor Buitenmuseum with over 130 rebuilt dwellings and workshops. Visitors are encouraged to park at a designated car park off the N302 and take a ferry (included in admission) every 15 minutes from April to October to get to the museum.
Enjoyed a great day here! Caught the ferry first and then dropped us off at the outdoor museum. Everything is well sign posted in English, Dutch and German. Lots of fun things to do and the cafe was great. Great way to learn about the history of the region.

Is a very nice place, just like jump into 100 years ago fish village. The indoor museum is full of knowledge about this area and the outdoor museum just amazing. I spent 4 hours there and didn’t finish it just too big. But the traditional lunch set they sell on the website is 2 sandwiches and 1 bread with 1 banana and 1 apple juice, quantity and quaility is nice but I recommend just buy food when you arrive the restaurant

I can't say enough about this place,as it is one of the best museums in Holland. The history of the fisherman of the north and how they built the Great dike. A must see for all visitors to the Netherlands.

We went there by shuttle boat. This round includes a short harbor tour in Enkhuizen. The museum is beautifully designed, there is a lot to see and you can immerse yourself in village life at the end of the 19th century.

Wonderful museum with lots of really enthusiastic volunteers. They are keen to offer information and demonstrations of various styles, jobs and hobbies of the people living in the town during the period. The town is beautifully reconstructed and preserves the history of the country extremely well for us to enjoy. A boat ride to the entrance is also included if you wish. Information is available in Dutch, English and German.

A fantastic huge museum. The indoor part has an audio guide and is very well made. Tells you stuff about fishing villages and how the sea became a lake, a lot of stuff for kids too. The outdoor part is a huge village, might need two days to actually cover it!

Very nice museum, this one is a full day experience, we arrived 11 and left by closing at 17 and we did not have time for the indoor museum , feelt expensive at 18 e online price but was so very well spent ,
pro tip , to save 7euro on parking google for "p+r einhuizen" it is along the station (ignore all roadsigns for museum ) , here you park free for 24 hours , ample with free spaces when we visited , just head down to station building and you see signs for the ferry across the road , the tourist office has ticket ( you need to buy before the boat ) if you did not get them online , ferry was every 20" and is the same as from the pay parking. 5 min walk from car to ferry

Started in the indoor museum where there is a lot to see. The main part of the museum on the upper floor takes you round in a circle. Go to the right to start!
A better part of the museum, presuming good weather, is the outside part further along the road. Lots of dwellings/buildings, like a small town, with descriptions. There are a couple of cafés to stop for coffee/lunch.
You can either walk to the museum or take the ferry back to Enkhuisen, near the railway station.
Tickets in advance (online) are €18/person.

There are inside and outside parts combined into one museum called Zuiderzeemuseum. I found it nice and informative. They both explain more the history of the area including how the lives were like in the past. The ticket price is for both and if you have a museumkaart, it is valid for the museum.

Beautiful park with many interesting houses arranged in different assemblies. We really liked the atmosphere and there was a wide range of hands-on stations for our children. You don't even notice how time flies! The ferry ride to the parking lot went smoothly. We'd love to come back!

Extremely pleasant and interesting museum! If you want to learn everything there's to know about life in the Netherlands 1 century ago, you are at the right place! We loved it!

Came there assuming that we went into a museum inside but we're happily surprised that we went on a ferry to an outside little town. It was like going back in time, like the 1900ths.
We were there on the hottest day of the year, 36 degrees Celsius and almost everybody went to the beach 🏖️. So it was nice and quit. I won't tell you too much cause that will spoil your experience 😎 nice people and excellent presentations. We had an perfect day👍🏻😊

Great experience, well arranged, entertaining and informative!
Experience going back in time and seeing how the Dutch life looked like. Have a peek inside the houses, look at the different workshops and "meet" the people.
Parking is available (7eur p/day), you can take a free ferry to the museum. Roam around the town, expect to spend approx 3 hours if you take the time to read and engage.
Pros
- Everything is well arranged
- plenty of parking
- multiple languages for int guests
- easy to explore
Notes
- best experienced on a good day
- dress for wind
- walk from museum to NS is more likely to be 20min (instead of the 10min indicated), but well worth it.
- Enkhuizen city is nice to explore

We were able to park the car right in front of the city entrance. If you book your tickets online beforehand, you can save a little more. Admission for an adult €19.50 on site, online €18

Hier wird die Geschichte gelebt, erzählt und auf eine besondere Weise konserviert. a very beautiful open-air museum, which is perfectly complemented by stories and explanations from the employees. The small play areas are great for children and the crossing from the parking lot to the museum is a great experience. Here history is lived, told and preserved in a special way. We'll definitely be back!

I love reconstructed villages - they offer inside people lived years ago that you can't gain through reading or museum exhibits. This museum was on par with the swedish Skansa in the care taking together houses from the area and bringing them together and putting them in a realistic environment. The people who play roles in the museum are dedicated and fantastic at what they do. This was a great experience particularly when combined with the train/ship from Hoorn.

Nice representation of what living would be like in the time. A wide range of activities to do while your there ( making rope, a little carnival and other stuff) several farm animals but also a small verity of birds some bigger some smaller. The ferry ride shows you I nice view of the area and an explanation of the stuff around. Several nice shops like cheese food souvenir shops and a restaurant which has good food

An excellent place to visit. The remains of a village in 1600 has been reconstructed with similar other materials brought from various places. Now it is a traditional village nobody lives except commercial establishments. A place must see how they controlled the flood from the see which is below the sea level.

Definitely one of my favorite spots in The Netherlands. As someone who loves family history (and is of Dutch descent), this museum was super informative for all of my questions regarding life in the past, especially for the Dutch because that's where many of my ancestors are from. Nevertheless, the exhibits were fun to explore and the experience of riding the boat there was a fun one! The gift shop was nice and getting to walk around the picturesque city of Enkhuizen afterwards was a treat itself.

A really nice museum in the north of the Netherlands. Try to choose a sunny day. Keep in mind that the museum has 2 sections; an outside and an inside part. Make sure you visit the outside because it is beautiful. You will find boats, fishing nets, artifacts for sailing, windmills and two chimneys. There is even a blacksmith shop which is very nostalgic. Also, there is an old school. Yeah, literally an old school where you will find blackboards, benches, and many other cools stuff that would take you back to 50-60 years ago. The whole city of Enkhuizen is gorgeous with its harbors. After your museum visit, you can lounge at terraces and enjoy your time. Definitely recommend.

The Rederij Volendam Marken Express is an absolute gem of a maritime experience! From the moment I stepped aboard, I was captivated by the charm and professionalism of this remarkable ferry service.
The journey from Volendam to Marken was a true delight, offering breathtaking views of the serene Dutch countryside and the sparkling waters of the Ijsselmeer. The ship itself was immaculate and comfortable, with spacious seating and large windows that allowed you to fully immerse myself in the picturesque surroundings however we took the open seats on the top where we could feel the breeze and see the birds follow us.
The crew of the Marken Express was not only skilled and attentive but also incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their knowledge of the region and willingness to share stories and insights added a wonderful personal touch to the voyage.
The highlight of the trip was the stop in the quaint village of Marken of course. This picturesque island, with its charming wooden houses and cobbled streets, felt like a step back in time. Exploring the village and savoring some traditional Dutch cuisine at the local eateries made the journey even more memorable. The beautiful people of this village/island are lovely and very welcoming.
Whether you're a tourist or a local looking for a delightful day out, the Rederij Volendam Marken Express is an experience not to be missed. It offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality. I can't recommend this ferry service enough; it truly made my visit to the Netherlands unforgettable!
PRO TIP: Get an iAmsterdam city card and you’ll be able to take this trip (amongst others) for free.

To be fair, a bit dull. It's nice to make a boat trip to a peninsula and see how people used to survive the harsh times then. But it seemed to me more like a commercial trip to keep tourists as long as possible in the city of Volendam.

On Friday I met a skipper on the boat by the name of John, he welcomed me into his wheelhouse and made me feel very welcome. I would class this skipper as an asset to the company he works for, he is very knowledgeable of the history of the country and speaks many different languages, what I thought was very impressive from this young man and I do hope that this fella does get recognised for his work. I enjoyed the boat so well thank you

The captain of the ferry between Marken and Volendam, Captain John, deserves a big compliment for his excellent skills and dedication. His ability to navigate the waters while battling the strong winds with both precision is admirable. He allowed me to visit him on the deck, explaining the way the ferry operated. In addition, I was able to get a beautiful view of the route. Thanks to his professionalism and friendly attitude, it was one of the best trips of my life.

A charming marina beside the main fishing harbour, located between Amsterdam and Enkhuizen. It is very well maintained (looks new) with clean facilities.
