The Massa Marittima Cathedral is a stunning medieval church located in the picturesque town of Massa Marittima, Tuscany. Situated on the charming Piazza Garibaldi, this 13th-century duomo is dedicated to St. Cerbonius and features a unique asymmetrical position. The cathedral's interior houses the remarkable Maesta, a free-standing sculpture dating back to 1316.
The cathedral with the bell tower are a gorgeous feat of architecture. But don't miss l'Albero della Fecondità (the Tree of fertility) -- a medieval mural depicting a tree with male genitalia growing on it and eight female figures seemingly harvesting them. It dates to the 13th century and might be one of the earliest surviving depictions of witchcraft.

What a beautiful cathedral, I didn't see that one coming. Very nicely designed and maintained.
Rob Wirz — Google review
We visited this town on a pretty rainy day. Only a handful visitors were in town.
The massive Cathedral catches your eye immediately. It's been almost rebuilt by scratch and been undergoing major changes between the 11th and 15th Century. Quite a time to finish this cathedral. Some sources date the origins even before that.
We haven't had the time to go inside, but just from outside it's definitely a looker and worth checking this little town out.

Beautiful cathedral worth a visit if you made it this far. Take care on the stairs, but enjoy the raw beauty of this holy place.

Interestingly there is not so much to see in this part of Tuscany. This is the most interesting town and it is surely the nicest church here. Tiny but worth a visit. The main square where the cathedral is very picturesque with very nice building on all sides. The church is higher which makes it even nicer.

Take your breath deep and feel the soft wind and dive into the amazing view. Don't listen to others. Think of them as silent figures in the scene. The Palazzo dei Priori is a medieval civic building with a bell tower in Valdelsa Volterrana, Tuscany. It houses art and a fresco inside. The building was originally the residence of the podesta (chief magistrate) and later of the Florentine priori and commissari.
Gorgeous looking area, whole of Volterra is amazing. Very pretty to walk around. Allow a few hours.
steve&alfie — Google review
There is an exhibit hallway up in the building, you can visit it on your way up to the top of the bell tower.
Great view from the top but be careful not to be up there when the bell rings.
If you have the Volterra city pass you can visit the town hall, the art museum, the Roman theater, and the Acropoli Etrusca/Roman cistern up in the park with the same ticket.

The Piazza dei Priori and the palazzo is really worth a visit.
We went early in the morning and had a good time with the whole family. Not to forget the nice arts marekt on the piazza dei priori where the kids could do a workshop with alabaster stone.

Beautiful old building located in an equally beautiful square. From the bell tower you can enjoy a splendid view. Entrance ticket too expensive.

Oldest building in Tuscany. 10€ per person. If you get 15€ for multiple places (guess 7-8) like roman theatre, Etrusc museum, acropolis, etc. it may be cheaper. Thus we choose the 15€ option

Very nice building. But inside you can see a small Hall and a few miniatures at the top. Only worthy thing is tower. Climb is a little narrow but reward is beautiful view.

Spent about 90 minutes here last weekend and were blown away by the history and yet, the current use of the palazzo.
The highlight of our trip was being treated to a very personal and personable guide/insight from Paolo (working there) who went more then the extra mile for us. Paolo, grazie per tutto. Tu sei un proprio gentiluomo!!!

Beautifull townhall, if you are lucky and there is no ceremony, you cab have a look inside. Upstairs you need to pay 3 euros to climb the tower, the view is nice.
The Roman Theatre in Volterra was discovered in the 1950s and fully excavated, proving to be one of the best preserved exemplars in Italy. It is a beautiful example of a Roman Amphitheatre, with excavated columns and mosaics. It is also free to view from above, but can be accessed for a fee nearer to the site. Paid walks down provide an excellent opportunity to see it up close.
The Roman Theater of Volterra is one of the most beautiful and best preserved in Italy. The Theater ceased its activity at the end of the 3rd century, probably because of an earthquake that made to collapse part of the structure. Its abandonment, however, allowed the construction of a large spa of which only the lower part of the walls and some mosaics have been preserved. Brought to light by excavations conducted in the 50s by Enrico Fiumi, who used as workers a team of patients hospitalized at the Psychiatric Hospital of Volterra.

It costs money if you want to go in, but you can see it clearly for free if you walk up to the wiewing spot, I recommend bringing binoculars, you will get good use of them while exploring the town, it has a lot of amazing view spots.

The star rating above is my own experience. I'm also not sure how to rate it being I didn't go in. In general I appreciate it in it's age and design. But there's so much to see in Italy. I'm saving my funds for other things. So, I didn't feel the need to pay for when I'm not a historian, architect or archeologist. I appreciate seeing these things, but not enough to understand what I'm looking at. You do have to pay €10 for each adult to go into the area. €8 over 65 and kids are reduced as well. It would've been €20 to walk around in there. Hope this helps and makes sense.

Defo worth going.you don't have to pay 5 euro to go into the theatre as you can get the same views from the street.just walk through the big door of the town take a right turn and 1 min walk and you get a nice view of it all

An absolute gem! Voltara is Rich with history, beautiful views, and of course delicious food. This was a perfect day trip with my family. Plenty of scenery for taking pictures or letting time slow down. Step into history at every shop if you want to get any gifts, leather, cheese, meat, and of course wine that can be shipped anywhere. It is a beautiful drive and high probability for a romantic day.

Beautifully preserved Roman Amphitheatre in the beautiful town of Volterra. You can view it from above for free or pay €5 to walk down nearer to the site. We paid to walk down and enjoyed seeing it up close. It also had some plaques with information on them.

10€ per person for a slightly better view..wow.. doesn’t make sense to pay. You can see it perfectly fine from above or the street which costs nothing. For the back story just ask Siri or something. Pure tourist tax/ trap. Do not recommend.

Walking around, you can feel the weight of history. Imagine the battles fought at the oldest arch. Imagine the life and death struggles that occured. The history of the Teatro Romano, and the way it was discovered and unearthed is a great story for any age.

Marina di Campo beach is a popular destination situated in a picturesque inlet, surrounded by rows of cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation. While it may not be deemed as the most outstanding beach on Elba Island, it still offers a pleasant experience. The area boasts stunning views and good dining options, but lacks any remarkable landmarks such as lighthouses or castles. However, what makes Marina di Campo unique is its sandy beach and shallow waters, which are rare on the island.
Beautiful! The only spot on the island with sandy beach and shallow water.

Good beach....but too many people.
Be careful a large part of the beach is now private and you need to pay.
If you're coming from somewhere else than Marina Di Campo pay attention to parking because there are expensive and almost all full after 10am.

Spiaggia di Cavoli is one of the stunning beaches on the island, along with Biodola beach, Forno Beach, and Scaglieri. With its crystal-clear waters and soft sandy shores, Spiaggia di Cavoli offers a perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming. The beach is surrounded by picturesque cliffs and lush Mediterranean vegetation, creating a beautiful backdrop for a relaxing day by the sea.
Fetovaia is a charming beach known for its picturesque pine grove providing shade on sunny days. The nearby Cavoli beach offers easy access to its eastern side, perfect for enjoying stunning sea views. Both beaches are popular spots for relaxation and leisure activities along the beautiful coastline.
Totally recommended. It will take you in an ancient part of the city which is the true face of an Italian village with all the history.

The funicular was a classic old model that, as one would expect, moved real slowly. The view of the valley and the sunset as you are going up is superb. The temp was a tad cold but I would still recommend standing on the outside the back of the funicular to get a picture without being obstructed by the glass in the window for a very fine photo.
As for the old town of Montecatini, nothing that great. Most of the restaurants are overly priced and the service is just average at the one pizza place we went to. Not worth the ticket of the funicular if you are just going for dinner at a restaurant.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a tower that leans off of the vertical, due to weak subsoil. The tower was built in 1372 and has been tilting ever since. It is a popular tourist destination, and included in our 10-day Northern Italy tour led by local insider. The climb is hard, but the view from the top is simply superb.
Beautiful place, everything is close to the next attraction. Of course, a lot of people trying to take the typical picture, but you can manage to get good shots away from others. Nice coffee shops to have a snack or an amazing ice cream. Remember to buy tickets in advance, all attractions have different times and there are some restrictions in regards to age (do your research).

Better than I remember from 1983 and better than expected up the tower. A bit pricey at €20 but they have you over a barrel if you want to do it. Great staff and supervision. Great views on a good day and interesting seeing the bells at the top of the tower. Hard to believe it's nearly 1000 years old

Worth seeing but not what I expected which really was my fault.
First arriving and parking: the parking lots are located about 1.5 kilometers away from the square taking about 20 minutes walk. It was HOT when we were there. We should have considered more heat precautions.
Shops: so many shops peddling tourists goods of all shapes and sizes. Purses, shirts, pins, etcetera. Very few are worth while and had I known there was a proper gift shop I would have waited for it. It's located inside near the tower.
Site: make sure to walk around and take in the structures from all the given angles. Tickets for the climb to the top of tower are worth it. There is also a small fountain on the corner inside where you can get some refreshing water from a small phallic out cropping. Also worth seeing.

The famous tower. It's worth climbing to the top but you have to book ahead. The official website takes bookings up to 20 days before your visit. You take an allocated slot.
The climb is not too arduous and you can pause along the way.
You get some great views of the area, although Pisa is not as pretty as other towns.

We recently had the privilege of visiting the iconic Learning Tower of Pisa, and I must say, it exceeded every expectation I had. This architectural masterpiece truly lives up to its reputation as one of the world's most renowned landmarks.
The interior of the Learning Tower of Pisa is equally impressive. As I ascended the spiral staircase, the sense of history and wonder deepened with every step. The views from the top are nothing short of breathtaking. The panoramic vistas of the surrounding cityscape are amazing and offer a unique perspective on Pisa's rich heritage.
What truly stood out to us was the genuine warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their enthusiasm for sharing the tower's history and significance added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit. It's evident that they take great pride in preserving this cultural treasure and in making every visitor's experience unforgettable.

I have to say... I was more impressed with the experience here than I was anticipating. We visited as part of a tour through a cruise and figured we would be here and gone quickly. The grounds were gorgeous and the tower was beautiful. It was a very busy day but people were polite and courteous to others trying to get their fun shots with the tower. Very cool experience!

Beautiful tower. We couldn't make it on top, there were no available time slots for it, so definitely recommending to buy tickets in advance online. But from outside it looks amazing as well. It's funny to observe people doing crazy poses while making pictures 😅👍🏼 but we all did it, right? 😅

Pisa itself as a city is very beautiful and gives a very good vibe. It is filled with young people as it is a student city. Piazza del Duomo is great to stay and to visit everything it has as it is included in one ticket that is worth the price (at the time i bought it for 10 euros not including leaning tower climb) and this ticked is valid for one year. Leaning tower is cherry on top. To be honest it is greater when you see it live than what photos show. To me this city has been out of expectations, very beautiful.

We visited as part of a cruise we were doing, and our cruise docked late so we ended up walking most of the way. It was well worth it though. We were able to meet up with our tour group and walk up to the top of the tower. Some of the steps up the tower have been worn down over the years so they can be a slippery, so be careful. The grounds that the tower sits on is well kept and there are various shops and restaurants in the area as well. We didn’t have any kids with us, but I would imagine small kids would have a hard time climbing all the stairs.

What an amazing site!!!!
First, I saw it very quickly when I was in the train. Then when I went out from the train and was heading to the site, I saw the top of the tower! What a feeling!! Just amazing!
It’s among the most impressive things I ever seen in my life!
All people go there to visit the tower but you should absolutely visit the whole site: the cathedral, the museum etc… because each one of them is a must see site.
I loved this place and would definitely come back during my next visit to Tuscany.

Very touristy but still very pretty. Worth a view if you're in Pisa. There are still plenty of places to get a photo and the other buildings are also very pretty. All round good visit. Didn't go inside but there's something about free entry to the cathedral, couldn't work it out.

It's a beautiful spot to see and take pictures. Located in the middle of the town, the route leads you through romantic and picturesque alleys and street. It's definitely worth a stop-over break if you pass nearby. I enjoyed seeing the tower and eating lovely food, but I wouldn't arrive here as my only holiday destination place. It's also amazingly crowded in the summer season. Heat was unbelievable 🔥, remember to take plenty of water 💧 Other places you could have seen before for free are at the charge in 2023- museum or Gardens

Fantastic historical monument!
The complex includes Tower, Piazza del Duomo and Cathedral di Pisa.
There was a parking close to complex with good price, although when leaving, there was issue with gate and not charged :)) There is a bazar in front and inside.
To go inside the tower, need to have a ticket for 20 euro which usually comes with 1-hour wait. Ticket for the rest of the facility, will come with 7 bucks more, all for 27. I would suggest get the ticket for whole, and once you see the Piazza and cathedral, it will be your turn to get into the leaning tower. I liked to small Halal restaurant in front of the area.
Overall, it will be a great experience to spend 2 – 3 hours over there.

What an amazing building to see when coming to Italy. It’s amazing how it’s leaning and hasn’t moved a lot during these past centuries. I really enjoyed being here and I would definitely recommend you to come. One thing to note is that when doing your famous leaning tower pose, there will be a lot of people walking in front of you. So just be weary of that

Arriving at the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the evening heightened the enchantment of this iconic landmark. The warm hues of the setting sun cast a golden glow on the marble facade, enhancing its timeless beauty. Despite the late hour, the surrounding Square of Miracles was still alive with a vibrant energy.
We explored the base of the tower, marveling at its architectural peculiarity and the intricate details of the nearby Cathedral and Baptistery. The diminishing daylight didn't obscure the elegance of Pisa's historic ensemble.
As twilight descended, the Leaning Tower illuminated, creating a captivating silhouette against the night sky. The subdued lighting added a touch of mystery to the surroundings. The square, adorned with medieval architecture, exuded a quiet charm, making our evening visit a magical experience that showcased Pisa's beauty even under the enchanting cloak of dusk.

Wow... this miracle of architectural is even more impressive when seen live. I recommend buying a combined ticket for all attractions in Piazza del Duomo, because each place is truly magical! The price is 27€ and it is best to book it in online. The tower is a magnificent building, it looks majestic from the outside, but inside it is empty, there are only stairs leading up. An amazing structure where from the first step on the tower I feel how tilted it is.

Picturesque place from Florescence and a must see tower that’s leaning with time. Please buy tickets in advance they are particular about having. Only a few folks go up to the tower. Bags aren’t allowed. They have a good locker room free of charge.

Absolutely amazing place. Love seeing the whole area in its historical beauty. The tower itself is smaller than I imagined but just fantastic. 294 steps to the top and you can walk around most of the upper level. The views make it well worth a visit. You can purchase a ticket for all buildings at 27 euros each or just the tower at 20 euros pp. There is a free locker room for you to put all bags into as you can't take any bags up the tower. There is a free car park about 10 mins walk away or a bus from same car park. The walk is lovely and not bad at all and all sign posted very well.

I recommend getting there early in the morning, it's really peaceful and there aren't many people around. Buying tickets in advance is also recommended, you will then have to leave your stuff at the wardrobe and then line up to enter. The entrance is divided in groups, your group will have a precise hour at which you will enter, so you have to come at least 15 minutes before. Green pass is needed to access the tower. The steps are a bit worn-out, so you should wear comfortable shoes. The view is amazing, you can really see all the city from up there, you might feel a bit of seasickness because of the inclination

Amazing climbing the steps of the leaning tower. When climbing the steps, you clearly feel a tilt. The climb is quite long. Please be careful when you go up the main stairs there is another smaller set. Which leads to the top. Many people don't notice the passage and it's worth it . The view from the top is simply breathtaking. An absolute must climb if anyone visits Pisa.

Beautiful leaning tower, if you want to climb I'd suggest booking ahead. As gets very busy. Was full on a weekday but still space to take photos and enjoy the beauty and the tower defying gravity.

One of those moments when you actually come across this and see it with your own eyes that you marvel at the beauty of this structure.
Very fortunate to book tickets to walk the stairs to the top, which is absolutely worth the time and money.
You can feel the lean as you walk up and then the view from the top is just amazing.

This totally met my expectations! A really fascinating and beautiful piece of architecture. I’d recommend buying tickets in advance to climb up although some tickets were available on the day I went (mid October and not high season). The majority of the steps are fine to climb although the very last section is a little worn and the tilting can make you feel a little ‘wobbly’
The views are great and is highly recommend it

The Leaning Tower looks really pristine from the outside and is well looked after. Approx 250 steps to the top and spectacular views. Not too crowded as they have bookings for 15 min slots - it’s well managed. We went in November but I can imagine it being super hot in the summer against the marble.

We visited the tower on a rainy day. The tower still stands tall. It is amazing. The place is crowded. It is a must see and worth all the effort traveling from Rome to see the tower.
The town is small, nothing much to see beside the tower itself. Highly recommend to buy the ticket in advance or come as early as possible. The line gets very long in the afternoon.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is an iconic marvel that truly lives up to its reputation. The architecture is breathtaking, and the slight tilt adds a unique charm. The surrounding square is lively, providing a great atmosphere for visitors. It's a must-visit destination, offering history, beauty, and a bit of fun trying to capture that perfect perspective photo. Highly recommended!
Just to be aware, one of the site in square are tombs you will be walking on.

We have always wanted to visit here and it was even more incredible than we could have imagined!
The tower really is a building marvel and is so cool that you can climb up to the top by staircase and see from up there.
Buy tickets prior to not miss out and go early in the morning to avoid all the tour buses arriving around 9am.
We got there at 8am and it was quiet but by 10am when we left, the parking had a 30+ car queue to get in.
Great hour to explore on our roadtrip 🙌

This is a breathtaking place that I'd always wanted to visit and it did not disappoint. It was very disconcerting walking up the tower and falling over as it lent to one side of course. Even when you come out you're a bit disconcerted because you can't stand up straight! The cathedral and the baptistery were both wonderful as well. We had beautiful weather and to crown off a perfect day, the museum, full of statues and ancient relics, was a site to behold. There are wonderful cheap cafés nearby for excellent refreshments as well. My one piece of advice would be to buy a ticket for all the sites before getting there.

We’ve all seen this place on the TV, in the magazines and on the internet but to see it in real life is pretty special.
For those who want photos with nobody in the background, get there early. For those who just want to see it and take it all in, anytime of the day is great.
Very clean and leans a lot more than you imagine.

Iconic reason to visit Pisa and is totally worth the time. Climbing the tower is something you will never forget. Walking around the grounds and watching all the tourists pose for goofy pictures with the tower is actually kind of fun as well.
Plan to buy the combo ticket and spend the whole day. The church, crypts, and museum are all worth the time it takes to visit them.
Try to visit the baptistry on the hour or half hour mark when a security guard will amaze you with the acoustics by harmonizing with his echo. Truly magical display of sound.

Such a beautiful landmark, exceeded my expectations. We bought tickets to go up the top which we enjoyed, it was a strange experience walking up something leaning at such an angle. Definitely worth a visit if you can in your lifetime

Its quite the impressive structure. You can view it from the outside at any time but you will need a ticket if you want to climb the inside. The tickets are time gated and limited, so I would recommend purchasing them in advance if you want to go inside.
Evan Friscia — Google review
Yes, it's very tilted. Different when you see it on the spot. I don't recommend buying tickets in advance because there are specifics that will be explained on the spot much better and the flow of people is quite smooth. Now, april 2024, the ticket is 20€ tower, 7€ all else, 27€ combined (recommended). Have at least 2 hours spare time, 4 if you're slow. You need to leave your bag in storage so rather go without any kind of bags. You must also collect them immediately after. Normal rules apply for the other spaces - you must be covered to enter. You can get here easily from Bologna and Florence by bus. Have someone with you to make the "holding" picture. There is a toilet in the museum (southern building). Ticket office is one, you can't buy tickets on the line for the locations. What shocked me most is - the tower is empty. Well, that's about it... Don't forget to have fun.

Spent a delightful afternoon marveling at the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa! 🇮🇹 Despite my short visit of just 3.5 hours, I couldn't resist capturing the charm of this architectural wonder. The intricate details of the tower and the bustling atmosphere of Pisa's historic center made for an unforgettable experience. Can't wait to return and explore more of this beautiful city!

Beautiful if you can catch it in the early morning. If you just want to see the outside, that is the perfect time to go. There's no one there and you can see the tourist shops opening up their tents.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Pisa, Italy is a beautiful and ornate Romanesque cathedral with carved 1300s pulpit. It is often overrated, but its location near the leaning tower means that it can be avoided if you want to visit a stunning place without waiting in line. The gothic cathedral of St. Mary is also worth visiting for its beautiful architecture and setting in one of the most picturesque squares in the world.
Old classic Italian cathedral, it is quite beautiful from both outside and inside. It is free but tickets need to be retrieved from the ticket office which is nearby.

Wow, I am blown away by this Cathedral and the surrounding complex. If the Tower never existed this Cathedral would be just as flocked too and visited by tourists. The design and effort is a breathtaking achievement.
I was taken away on entry, you can't help but look up. The huge columns and gold ceiling are incredible. It's is filled with beautiful Baroque paintings and sculpture and could be a museum of its own.
It is well worth the price. I went in March and the queues were negligible.

To climb up, but the church is for free. You only need to go to the ticket office to get a free ticket, and then you may go in. A lot of Medici signs in there.

Beautiful! Not too crowded, really enjoyed our time here :) the cathedral was beautiful and well worth the price. We didn't buy the all-encompassing ticket, we just bought the ticket to the Museum (7€ each), and each ticket would come with a complimentary visit to the cathedral. We felt like that was money well spent. The Museum also had a small cafe we ate at and I got the best pancakes 😍 The ticket to climb the Tower was 20€, and my bf had twisted his ankle climbing the Campanile in Florence the other day, so we decided not to go up it.

While I didn't expect something extraordinary I found this ceiling in awe. The building is being reconstructed and hopefully it will become even better if they allow people to go up the stories. Seems to be 5 levels total. There is also a prayer section for believers. As part of a 7 euro ticket - it is very much worth it.

Great place, inside and outside. You have to see the pulpit made by Giovanni Pisano 700 years ago. How much work the artist had to put into it! It looks beautiful. Impressive paintings on the walls. Some of the original sculptures, religious books etc from the cathedral you can also see in the museum next to the tower.

We got tickets on the day (the only option, I believe?) And our time was approx 1hr from when we got them. There is a nice grass area to sit in or you can go around elsewhere and explore.
The cathedral is beautiful with beautiful art and sculptures. Explanation signs are in both Italian and English which was great for us.
Id recommend getting your ticket first then exploring the grounds, if you do it this way there will be less waiting.

Pisa Cathedral is one of the most impressive churches in Tuscany, Italy. A masterpiece of Pisan Romanesque architecture chiefly famous for its bell tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
It says the Construction began in 1063 and was completed in 1092. However, The cathedral was heavily damaged by a fire in 1595. The heavy bronze doors of the façade were newly designed and completed in 1602.
The 27 paintings that cover the galleries behind the main altar, depict Stories of the Old Testament and Stories of the Life of Christ.

Great historical place. The tower looks spectacular and it’s history is amazing. Lots of market stalls and shops. Plus a variety of restaurants. In this square, there's the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. The way it's built is quite fascinating. Almost everyone who comes here wants to take a picture while pretending to hold up the leaning tower with their hands. It's a fun and popular thing to do!

I visited Piazza del Duomo on a sunny day in August. The square was crowded with people, but I was able to find a spot to stand and take in the amazing sight of the Leaning Tower. I was in awe of its size and beauty, and I couldn't help but smile as I took pictures and imagined what it would be like to climb to the top.
After admiring the Leaning Tower for a while, I wandered around the square and took a closer look at the other buildings. The Cathedral is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture, and I was impressed by the intricate detail of the sculptures on the facade. The Baptistery is also a stunning building, and I enjoyed walking around the interior and admiring the white marble columns.
I spent a few hours exploring Piazza del Duomo, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It is a truly unique and special place, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Pisa.
* I was expecting a lot from this place and it totally amused me.
* As usual, people from different countries were visiting this piece of art and the atmosphere was cheerful even on this scorching heat. Everyone were giving their best pose possible 😉
* In the square apart from the tower their are other important buildings, such as visiting the Cathedral or the Baptistery.
* Fun fact, did you know that the Leaning Tower is actually sinking? So, happy to visit this terminal tower. I hope w tge humanity will find some solution for this problem 🤗
I hope this helps!

The Baptistery of San Giovanni is a religious building in Pisa, Italy. The round edifice was begun in 1152 and completed in the 14th century under the influence of two famous sculptors, Nicola Pisano and Giovanni Pisano. It is one of the most outstanding works of Gothic art in Italy. The baptistery stands on an octagonal base and has a hexagonal marble pulpit by Nicola Pisano, considered to be one of his finest pieces of sculpture.
One of the most beautiful monuments with the leaning tower of Pisa at the back side. The white colour attracts you to see and keep looking. The area is also very nice. You can also come to visit during sunset or at night for a different view. It's beautiful!! Must visit !!

The Battistero costs $7 or $10 if purchased as a combination ticket which includes the Baptistery, Camposanto, Museo dell'opera and the Sinopie Museum or you can purchase a combination ticket with the leaning tower of Pisa which costs $27 which includes the tower, Baptistery, Camposanto, Museo dell'opera and the Sinopie Museum. It is cheaper than purchasing them all separately. You need a ticket to enter the Battistero and it is easier to purchase in advance. When booking the ticket for the leaning tower of Pisa we were not informed that there was a religious ceremony taking place that day. We were restricted from entering the Battistero for up to 2 hours due to this ceremony. Just be aware if you are limited on time you may not be able to see the building. In the building they demonstrate the sound by someone singing. The inside of the building is beautiful but the outside is just as beautiful. There is a grass area outside were you can sit and admire the building.

Visited this place in May 2017. The exterior of the baptistery is very detailed and ornate, traces of Romanesque architecture can be seen in some elements but it is predominantly Gothic in style. Seeing the exterior walls of Carrara marble in the early morning light is a sight to behold.
The interior is quite a stark contrast to the exterior as it appears very plain and has little to no ornamentation. In my opinion, only the pulpit is adorned.

The highlight of the visit to the baptistery was witnessing the steward demonstrating the acoustics of the dome.
There is a 10 second echo which allows him to harmonise with himself. We watched this from the upper balcony and it was very powerful.

The Devil's Bridge is a pedestrian-only bridge over the Serchio river, constructed in 1100 AD for medieval pilgrims. It is a steep structure that blends well with its rocky surroundings and is easily accessible without any special skills or clothing. The bridge has been well maintained over time and offers a pleasant resting spot for travelers passing through the area. On clear days, visitors can enjoy the reflection of the bridge in the calm waters of the river.

A nice spot to rest a little. We had passed the bridge several times, thinking we'd visit it for sure next time we passed it. And so when were headed for Venice coming from Molazana we took the opportunity. It's a steep bridge over a wide river (but easily walkable, no need for special training or atire ;) ). It is very well maintained and integrates nicely in its rocky environment. On the particular day we visited, the river was calm and the sky was blue so the bridge also nicely reflected on the water surface. Definntely worth stopping if ou drive by and the weather is nice.

THE BRIDGE OF MARY MAGDALENE ALSO KNOWN AS THE DEVIL'S BRIDGE
The bridge was probably erected by Countess Matilda of Canossa in the eleventh century to allow travellers and pilgrims to reach Lucca and the Francigena.
It was restored by the government of Castruccio Castracani in the late thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries. The name of the bridge comes from the hermitage that was built at its foot in 1526, which contained a statue of Mary Magdalene. The statue can currently be found in the Church of Saint James the Great (San Jacopo) in Borgo a Mozzano. A masterpiece of medieval engineering,
the Devil's Bridge overlooks the River Serchio and has always been the subject of fantasies, myths and legends. In the late 1800s, the bridge was modified to allow the passage of the Lucca-Aulla railway line, with the addition of a new are on the right bank. During the Second World War it was damaged by the Nazis, who were by then abandoning the fortifications of the Gothic Line,
but fortunately the bridge was not destroyed. Although nobody knows for sure why the Devil's Bridge was spared by the Germans, it was likely because they deemed it not suitable for the transportation of military equipment and therefore not worth destroying. The bridge has the classic medieval "hunchback" design, but what makes it different is that the arches
are asymmetrical and the central one is so high and wide that it seems to defy the laws of gravity.
THE LEGEND
The Legend: The sinister name of the "Devil's Bridge" is due to a legend of which there are several versions. The best known is the one that takes us back to its construction: it is said that the task of building the bridge was entrusted to Saint Giuliano 1' Ospitaliere. The work proved difficult from the outset. The foreman in charge of the work was in despair because he knew that the bridge could not be completed in time. One evening, as he sat alone on the river bank, thinking of the disgrace he would be in if the bridge was not finished, the Devil appeared to him and proposed a deal.
The Devil could make it so that the bridge was completed in a single night, but on one condition: that he could take for himself the first soul to cross the bridge. The pact was signed and in one night
the Devil lifted the entire bridge into place with his pitchfork. Filled with remorse, the man confessed the deal to a priest, who told him to respect the pact but to send a pig over the bridge first.

We drove past this bridge several times while in the area and finally had a chance to go explore it. The story behind it is rather unique and I suggest you take a few minutes to read up on it. The bridge is rather steep so be prepared but it's not that long of a walk. Once on top. The view is pretty cool

Very interesting bridge and a nice stop if you pass it by. Do walk to the top, you’ll get a feel for just how steep it is when you walk upon it more than just looking at it.
There’s convenient parking on the side of the via del Brennero, with a very nice little Osteria (also called Osteria del Diavolo) to have a quick drink at.

Short stop on our way from Lucca. Interesting legend behind. The bridge must be spectacular at the sunset. Unfortunately it was so hot outside, that we could stay only few minutes. Near restaurant was open, but looks like staff wasn't in good mood.

What an amazing 1200YO stone bridge!!! Stunning to walk over and see the arch co struction, the height above the water, and to have a meal at the Cafe across the street.

Absolutely lovely views and surprised myself walking over the bridge as I am afraid of heights 😀 only downside is the road is a main road and very busy with speeding traffic espeically on a wet day and I had 2 dogs on leads but so close to the road.
Nestled in the Apuan Alps of Tuscany, Antro del Corchia Levigliani is a captivating cave system renowned for its striking stalactites and dramatic lava formations. Accessible via a bus ride from the nearby ticket office, this off-the-beaten-path attraction offers guided tours lasting around 2-2.5 hours, providing an opportunity to explore its fascinating interior filled with intricate stalactites and serene lakes.
Beautiful cave. The tour guide always took the time to explain everything in English as well even though only me and my family didn't speak Italian. Make sure to bring a warm sweater and long pants!
Eszter Barabas — Google review
The guide knew was he was talking about. There is no more audioguide for non Italian speakers. The guide will do both language, which is a considerate and good thing. The downside is we sometimes couldn't hear because we were too far behind. There is not much time to appreciate the last part of the cave since we must follow the group. Overall it was still a nice experience

Amazed by the wonder of nature in this enormous cave.. very informative and engaging guides Noemi and Virginia.. would definitely recommend a visit..

This is out of the beaten path attraction. You park near the ticket office and reach the cave by a bus (included in the tickets). You can only enter with a guided tour of about 2-2.5 hours. You can combine it with a 45 minute tour to the mercury mine nearby.
Not all guides are fluent in English, but you can check this with the park by emails (and reserve a spot). There is a small kiosk at the cave entrance.

Lerici is for sure one of the underated place of Italy.
This is an fantastic place.
Extremely beautiful and tourist friendly. The view from the castle is simply amazing and breathtaking.
The port is filled with little boats.
On the city streets you can find lots and lots of fantastic restaurants with authentic italian taste- family owned ones with care and love for food.
Definitely recommend it.
Bonus: the sand of the little beach is simply great.

Only 4 stars because at the moment of my visit was an exhibition with an entrance ticket of 5 euro and they were making you to buy a mask for 1 euro (due to COVID-19), so 6 euro in total. The exposition was just some fish made from wood and some paintings of fish...
The castle however is nice and the view from it is superb! When I was there, first week of March 2022, the top tower was closed

Porto Venere is a picturesque village located on the Ligurian coast of northwestern Italy. The area is home to the Porto Venere Regional Natural Park, which offers hiking trails and diving opportunities. Palmaria Island, within the park, features beautiful beaches and caves to explore. Visitors can also admire the Gothic-style Church of St. Peter perched on a rocky headland and the ancient Castello Doria fortress with stunning views of the Gulf of Poets.
Vernazza is a village located on the rugged Ligurian coast of northwest Italy, and it forms one of the Cinque Terre. The settlement's small marina is surrounded by colorful houses, and it has a church with an elegant cupola-topped bell tower. Doria Castle, a medieval defensive structure with a cylindrical tower, clings to the rocks overlooking the ocean. Just below this castle lies Belforte bastion.
The Sentiero Monterosso-Vernazza is a picturesque hiking trail that connects the scenic Cinque Terre with breathtaking ocean views and lush landscapes. The next stop on this trail is an easily accessible lookout point, situated on a small cliff overlooking Vernazza beach. This spot can be reached via the head trail of Vernazza's Sentiero Azzurro, which runs south of the town and past an old watchtower.
Incredible but very difficult even if you are considerably fit. It took me around 2 hours with multiple breaks along the way and I wasn’t even very prepared.
Choose the right timing, I hiked up at 2PM in July so it was technically a suicide attempt.
The views are insane and far better than expected.
Akram Salem — Google review
A path with very nice views but physically demanding. Many and very steep stairs and sometimes slippery. I would recommend this sentiero only to people that are used to challenging walks and wear good shoes. It‘ quite exposed to sun, so you might want to take enough to drink with you. Path gets quite crowded from april on!

The Monterosso Vernazza Panoramic Trail offers breathtaking views of the Italian coastline, but unfortunately, it falls short in several aspects. While the trail presents natural beauty, there are some significant issues that need to be addressed for a safer and more enjoyable experience.
One of the main concerns is the poor maintenance of the trail. The lack of upkeep is evident, with sections of the path showing signs of neglect. Overgrown vegetation and uneven surfaces can make the trek challenging and potentially hazardous for visitors. A more consistent and attentive maintenance plan should be implemented to ensure the safety of hikers.
Furthermore, access to the trail is allowed without proper checks for appropriate equipment. It is crucial to enforce regulations and recommend suitable gear, such as hiking boots and water supplies, to all visitors. By doing so, the authorities can promote a culture of safety and preparedness among hikers.
Another issue lies in the presence of unprotected dangerous spots along the trail. These areas should be identified and appropriately secured with barriers or guardrails to prevent accidents. Safety measures like these are crucial, especially considering the narrow width of the path. At times, hikers need to pause to allow others to pass by, leading to unnecessary delays and congestion. Implementing a one-way alternating system could effectively alleviate these waiting times and enhance the flow of foot traffic.
The pricing of the trail is also a point of contention. Given the current cost, the expectations for maintenance and safety precautions are high. Visitors rightly demand impeccable maintenance and adequate protection for dangerous areas when paying a premium. Alternatively, some argue that the trail should be free of charge, as this would encourage more people to experience its beauty without financial barriers.
Additionally, the signage along the trail is insufficient and often unclear. Clear and comprehensive signposting is essential for visitors to navigate the path with ease and confidence. By improving the signage, hikers can enjoy a more seamless experience and avoid potential detours or confusion.
In conclusion, while the Monterosso Vernazza Panoramic Trail offers stunning views, it is marred by various shortcomings. The trail suffers from poor maintenance, lacks proper safety measures, experiences congestion, and falls short in terms of signage. It is imperative that the authorities address these issues promptly. By implementing a robust maintenance plan, enhancing safety measures, improving signage, and considering a one-way alternating system, the trail can provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for all visitors.

This trail connects the villages of Monterosso al Mare and Vernazza. It is approximately 3.5 km long and the hike is considered moderately challenging due to its steep sections and uneven terrain. It typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, depending on your pace and the number of stops you make along the way.
The view of Vernazza from this trail is one of the highlights of the hike. As you approach Vernazza from the trail, you will be treated to an incredible panoramic view of the village nestled along the coastline.
Vernazza is known for its colorful houses that cascade down the hillside toward the sea. The buildings are painted in pastel shades of yellow, pink, and orange, creating a picturesque scene against the backdrop of the sea.
The village's charming harbor is framed by the small natural bay and a breakwater. You'll see fishing boats docked in the harbor, adding to the village's coastal charm. The vibrant blue of the Mediterranean Sea contrasts beautifully with the colorful village and the green hillsides. The sea's clear, azure waters make the view even more striking.
The view of Vernazza includes the historic Doria Castle, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the village and the sea. The Church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia, with its distinct bell tower, is another landmark visible from the trail. Surrounding Vernazza are terraced hillsides with vineyards and olive groves.
Y. T. Nixon Tan — Google review
Very crowded in off-season, it costs 7.5 euro/ person. It is a 3,5km km waiting line from Monterosso to Vernaza both ways. You get a nice view at the end but that you can get also if you go by train. Can't imagine how much worse it is in full season.
Bogdan Androne — Google review
They said it’s closed…it’s not. Beautiful hike. I recommend going from Monterosso to Vernazza. You get the staircases out of the way and enjoy a nice view on the way down to Vernazza. 1.5 hours total and we went slow. Bring water.
Brazos — Google review
A very picturesque path, along gardens with crops, vineyards, old gardens. Definitely less demanding than the route from Riomaggiore to Manarola, more flat sections but also has steep climbs, especially in the initial sections. walking time about 1.5 hours. a lot of stairs to overcome, the entrance from the Vernazza side seems easier but still requires good shoes and a bit of good shape. the route is paid, in my opinion it is worth spending the money, but if someone counts on a walk by the sea and still spectacular views - they will be disappointed. I was captivated by the picturesqueness of the route, vineyards, trees, orchards and the remains of old terraces where the inhabitants cultivated plants. But it is definitely not a walk by the sea
AniaZ — Google review
A great hike - even with a toddler. We have a ~1 year old who came on the hike with us in a carrier (back/front reversible), not a shoulder backpack carrier. Suggest a back-carry rather than a front carry.
We caught the train from Riomaggiore to Monterosso and then started our hike which took us about 1hr 45 min - noting we were reasonably quick even with the baby. Suggest this could take 2+ hrs for others.
The trail is narrow at some points which required waiting as was too dangerous to go 2 at a time with the baby.
Despite this people were very accommodating to allow us to pass on the inside.
Overall a great hike with some lovely views.
Ted Smith — Google review
The path has steeper parts as you start climbing, but then it is more accessible. Can be done on rainy weather as well. Around 1.5 hours from train station to train station, but with stops for photos it will be more. Extremely beautiful!

Highly recommend this hike trail! We did it with our two girls ages 5 & 6. The views were awesome! I can see experienced hikers taking over an hour to complete but with two little people it took us almost 2.5 hrs. Recommend to pack plenty of water, good shoes (we used our running shoes), snacks and charged phone for pics. Happy hiking!
JustinMonica Blanco — Google review
This hike offers the best views of vernazza as you leave the town, and some wonderful ocean vistas but be warned this hike is very steep going up and is also very steep on the other end approaching Monterosso. There is ample sun and it with its difficulty, you will need to bring water and wear shoes for hiking. The cinque terre hiking card is also checked at the trail and is needed (7.50 for a day pass of hiking, get it at the vernazza train station). There is some maintenance that needs to be done so some areas are a bit treacherous. Very busy trail with traffic going both ways so be ready for that. Decently fit folk can complete this section in under 90min with some photo stops.
Brett Higgins — Google review
Would much recommend the walk from Monterosso to Vernazza rather than the other way around. Reason is that on the trail; the scenic beauty of Vernazza is captured from the vantage point of the trail. And Monterosso is difficult to see from the trail as it is blocked by the hills, or by the time you near Monterosso you are already too low.
Recommend starting your day early to catch the sunrise. Just remember to pay the trail fee!
Trail difficulty is not that hard. Alot of up-hill.
Wear proper shoes and bring water.
Nathaniel Teo — Google review
My friends and I did this trail back in the beginning of March 2023. we had perfect weather, sunny, not hot, not cold. The first part of the trail (starting from Monterosso) was quite a climb and it could get very narrow and difficult. The other half was much easier. We weren‘t really prepared for this type of hike, but I would suggest simply comfortable sneakers, plenty of water and maybe a sandwich with you. The views are truly breathtaking. As girls who aren‘t use to this type of activities it was doable and we had a great time.
Also even though it was sunny, you aren‘t going to be in the sun the whole time. You‘re passing through woods, so it can get very fresh as well. The path was evidently clean in our case and not too many tourists at the time.
From what I know this path is actually not free to explore, but the day we went it was „off season“ so it was free. Amazing experience.

It’s steeper than you think but overall not too bad. Be prepared for 2 hours. Bring water. Awesome views.

Great hike between Monterosso to Vernazza, the views are great throughout the whole hiking trail and it seems to be quite popular of a hiking path as you will meet many people along the way. The view of Monterosso is amazing, also when you get closer to Vernazza as it opens into the beach bay and you can get a great picture with the colourful buildings in the cove.
We met a very cute Samoyed dog ready to go on a little hike along the way too!

This is a pretty nice trail, if you are a bit trained it's pretty ok. There are several factors to keep in mind though, the heat from spring to autumn,is pretty steep while some paths are very narrow, maybe too narrow considering traffic in 2 directions which blocks you in case of larger groups. Indications are kind of ok but could be better. Also keep in mind you already need to walk up a bit before you start the real trail, so it's longer then you may think. I do agree with some of the comments that since they ask money, one could expect better maintenance, higher safety measures and indicate even more about making sure people are well equipped before they start since it's not easy to get help in case you would require. You may find 1 or 2 people selling some lemon drinks on the way but you better make sure you are least have a big bottle per person with you on the trip, especially for the very warm days and make sure you have sun protection as well, enjoy. A nice and well deserved swim will await you!

Amazing hike! Make sure you bring plenty of water and you MUST wear closed-toe-shoes. Also, they will check your ticket before letting you go through.
The views are incredible and you'll be able to see both parts of Monterroso for a while as you ascend. Then, you'll start descending and see Vernazza. Stunning village!
It's only shaded like 5% of the time, even in the afternoon so be prepared to sweat bullets.

This is an amazing experience for all of those visiting the Cinque Terre that can do it. I highly recommend this trail at least once. It offers great views, and while it is challenging, it is well worth it in the end. On the trail, it is important to take your time, as some steps and parts of the trail are more dangerous, but if you pay attention, there will be no problem. Overall, it took about 2 hours to reach Monterosso from Vernazza, with small breaks along the way and going at a good pace.
Will Carter — Google review
The hike has amazing views. In the summer try to catch train from north/west that arrives at 7:30am at Monterosso so you can do most of your hike in the shade. Steps up are similar, in my opinion, from Monterosso vs from Verazza. Either way, having good grip sole shoes is helpful though not necessary in the dry season. Many people wore regular sneakers and did fine. 1.5hr is about average for the amount of time to hike through 1 way, though if you don't stop for photos or rest, you can easily do it in under an hour. But if you've come all the way to visit, why rush it. Caveat, the towns get very crowded as the day goes on. We arrived Monterosso with empty beaches and by late morning it was crowded beyond belief.

The Ponte Gobbo or Hunchbacked Bridge is a historic structure dating back to Roman times, reconstructed during the 17th century with an uneven path. This well-maintained bridge is a must-visit landmark where visitors can capture breathtaking photos on and under the bridge. Parking options include pay parking in Piazza San Francesco or free parking along Via Sopramura, though free parking near the bridge can be found at Borgo del Trebbia.
Beautiful place, in fact the village has been awarded as the most beautiful village in Italy couple of years back. I fully agree with that! Since we went on Xmas day, there were literally nobody around. The drive through the hill (last 10-15mins of drive) is bit difficult since the width of the road is just enough for one vehicle. But with almost no traffic, seems to be ok.
I love to visit the tourist places when it is empty, and I am glad I picked the Xmas day for the visit. There is a restaurant near this bridge, but was closed.
The village also was very quite. Just my kind of place!

Boccadasse is a primarily residential area that extends from an old fishing village. The houses are painted in soft pastel tones and adorned with green shutters, creating an inviting atmosphere. Along the pebble beach and harbor, one can find ice cream shops and relaxed bars, while local trattorias serve fish dishes and Genoese specialties with outdoor seating available. Visitors can enjoy views of the sea from the terrace near the Church of St. Anthony of Boccadasse.
The Aquarium of Genoa is the largest aquarium in Europe and features around 12,000 different species of fish and marine mammals. It's also home to six million litres (1.6m gallons) of water, making it one of the biggest aquariums in the world. The size of some of the tanks is impressive, especially for creatures like dolphins and sharks. Kids will love exploring all the exhibits, from manatees to coral reefs.
Book an early entrance (by 10am) so that there are fewer people so you can enjoy and see exhibits more easily. Price paid is fair. Lots to see. Don't miss the jellyfish and vivarium section. You need to cross to another side. Easily missed as you might think you're done.

A very nice aquarium with a variety of fish and aquatic animals. It’s worthwhile visiting and you could easily spend a couple of hours if not half a day. If you are with kids, you should plan on spending half a day here as there are plenty to see and will keep the kids interested. The exotic fish and marine life is well kept although one can always argue if the environment they are kept in is truly fair, especially for the marine mammals such as the dolphins and larger fish such as the sharks. The penguins are an added attraction here. You could take a break at the cafe inside the aquarium and spend some time taking in the views from the deck, with the views of the port.

Quite nicely done even though it still seems like the space, especially for the bigger animals, is too constrained. Still struggling with the ethical part of visiting such places, but it's so tempting to see the animals. Too many kids tho.

Very outdated, poorly maintained aquarium with dark lighting and foggy uncleaned glass. Some exhibits were nice, like the Seahorses. Be mindful that the signage directing you to the exhibits is very poor, you do not get a visitor map and there are few signs informing you of the right way to proceed. Especially confusing with the upper and lower levels. After we visited the Penguin enclosure we were brought to a giant white building that had little signs, other than for lockers or bathrooms. There was a big desk that read “Behind The Scenes” and that requires an extra ticket (€8). So we turned back, not even realizing there was another big section of the aquarium after that. Very poor layout and guidance. When we asked about the other exhibits on the pier, they told us to go outside and we will find the Biosphere €5 extra) and other things. That is when we realized there is a Dolphin tank and Tropical Rainforest area… but it was too late. Once you go outside, you can not re-enter. Of course, it’s sad that they keep dolphins in a small tank anyway, so probably better not to see that. And finally, we were surrounded by aggressive migrants forcing us to take bracelets and souvenirs and begging for money along the entire area of the aquarium. From the entrance to the exit. Almost no security around.
Overall, this aquarium should be priced around €15 for the quality of the current experience. After our visit, we felt let down and overcharged. I hope they consider a major renovation to improve the exhibits and signage and consider discontinuing the dolphin shows and instead use the facility to rehabilitate and release injured or abandoned dolphins.

A good price compared to some I've been too. Some animals we never thought we would see so one very happy girlfriend. The tropical pool was incredible. But then some others were rather Barron so felt sorry for them.
But all in a great aquarium and a great aquarium

It's always nice to see what is in the ocean close by. Still think the dolphin tank is small for them. Nice place for kids and adults to visit and understand what beautiful creatures are in de ocean's .
Old Port Bar, also known as Porto Antico, is a historic waterfront area in Genoa that has been active since the fifth century BC. Renzo Piano's renovations have transformed the area into a vibrant hub featuring attractions such as an aquarium, museums, an open-air pool, and numerous restaurants and bars. The port holds significant historical landmarks like Palazzo San Giorgio, which was once a jail and housed the world's first bank in the early 1400s.
Friendly service and great food. We stopped in for lunch today. The food was incredible. Our server was very good and spoke a fair amount of English. The view of the port added to the overall wonderful experience!

Were looking for a place to drink ‘an aperitif’ but got sent away because it was lunch service. Whilst walking away got called back saying we could have a drink if we did not stay for more than 15 minutes. Next we sat waiting for them to take our order but got ignored for several minutes until we eventually walked out.

Although the place is under reconstruction but still people numerous to come
The Galata Museo del Mare (GAM) is a large maritime museum in Genoa, Italy. It has exhibits on the history of shipping and navigation, with reconstructions of ships and a moored submarine. The museum is well-known for its extensive collection of original artifacts from all over the world.
Very interesting museum to visit. Tears of joy as my great grandfather left from Genova to immigrate to Brazil in the 1920's , so it was very touching to me to see how all the process went through for him. It was a very emotional experience for me. If not at least for the historical aspect of it. I also liked the written letters by Christophe Colombus, who was originally from Genova.

A big and good museum. The maritime museum offers a good overview of Genova’s naval and maritime activities from the late middle ages to now. The have several life size ships inside the building that you can walk through, which is impressive, especially the medieval galley. They provide much information, but not always with a translation of the Italian. A special treat is the visit to the submarine nearby, which is amazing. There is an interesting part on emigration and immigration. Some floors have special exhibitions. The top floor offers a wonderful view of the city with some indications of important structures. If you would find the museum a bit too big, because the entire visit can take a few hours, you can always skip parts.

Totalmente recomendable.

Very interesting for those who like the navy.
There is a very good full-scale reproduction of a galley and the interior of an emigrant ship to America. You can imagine the hard life on both ships. I really liked being able to enter a retired war submarine.
Totally recommended.

Nice museum also for kids. It's quite big, so reserve at least 2 hours. Amazing views from the rooftop. And you can visit a real submarine too.

I like maritime museums, they’re a quick way of learning the history of a city & culture. We came in knowing little about Genoa, we left impressed & wanting to learn more. The museum is laid out well so it’s fairly easy to navigate. It’s not overly large, so you won’t get museum-fatigue. Some exhibits are dusty & looking a bit forlorn, others were obviously sponsored by a corporation & quite spiffy. Did we wish there were more placards in English? Sure. But no matter, there was enough to get the gist. Definitely definitely go up to the roof, sit & soak in the view

A truly fantastic day out! If you're spending time in Genoa, I highly recommend a visit to this museum.
As an English speaking guest, I found it a bit difficult to understand most of the detailed descriptions of artefacts on display (since all are written in Italian). There are some QR codes dotted around to access a translated version of the displays (there is free WiFi at this museum!).
PRO TIP: Download the Google Translate app to your phone! Use this to automatically translate descriptions and live translate conversations into your desired language (to fully understand the interactive videos on the upper floors).
BEST BITS: Visit the interactive "Immigration to America" to experience what it was like for millions of Italians migrating to the USA. You can grab a free passport and travel documents at the beginning of this exhibit on the 3rd floor.
Take a tour inside a real submarine! The S518 Nazario Sauro is docked in the harbour directly outside the museum. You'll be given a hard-hat and a hairnet at reception at the end of your tour around the museum (just show them your ticket for entry). You can also collect audio guides from this location.
Ticket prices (for museum and submarine visit 2022):
Adults: 19€
Concessions: 17€
Children from 4-12yrs 14€
(Please note children under 3 cannot go inside the submarine)
You can also buy tickets for only the museum at a cheaper rate (prices between 13€ to 8€)

It was a bit boring ,the kids didn't have fun there.
Prices are too high for what is available.
A lot of paintings without lighting to see as it should.
The submarine does not take more than 5 minutes to visit, but it is nice to see inside it once in a lifetime.
My children are 3 and 6 years old and I find it is not for their age because they are not having fun.
Aya NJ — Google review
We bought the Genova museum card which gives 24h access to many museums. Unfortunately no way near all... Which they don't do a lot to tell you about.
For example this museum was included - but just not the submarine - which they wanted additional 6 EUR/person for... (Didn't buy)
In my opinion, this is not reasonable and ruins the supposedly good deal with the museum card.
Regarding this museum, there was too little info in English to make it interesting.
Woman at counter did nothing to make it a good experience and never informed about any audio guide etc.
Several interesting points about navigation was impossible to understand as only Italian.
The emigration part was good - you learned about the trip conditions etc.

Huge museum. Very interesting. Recommend. Also go inside the submarine - buy the biglietto intero. I bought mine from Tiqets. I arrived earlier than the time booked but lady at ticket office said booking is not according to any time frame and let us in.
Marie Louise Agius — Google review
The museum is spread over 5 floors. In the, partly historical, areas of the building, the exhibitions are sorted according to different eras and topics. The rooms are detailed and lovingly designed and are a work of art in themselves. So you walk through authentic interiors of ships, through Brazilian huts, through a submarine and much more. Two huge, faithful replicas of ships can be freely explored. The display cases and exhibits are very authentically staged. There are also sub-action options in some areas. Unfortunately, the multilingualism of all the information conveyed in the museum fails. A guide for non-Italian speakers would be helpful. Online, the information in some rooms can be displayed in different languages.
For children under 4 years the museum is only conditionally suitable, since they find only few Possibilities of interaction for their age group, besides the entrance to the submarine in the port (in the ticket included) for children under 4 years is not allowed.
Once at the top, you can enjoy the view over Genoa and the harbor from the panoramic terrace.

Awesome museum with stunning exhibition spread out across multiple floors as well as submarine tour (definitely recommend unless you suffer from claustrophobia). Stunning observation deck with nice port and town overview. Within walking distance to the town centre. Plenty of interactive boards as well.

We visited the museum as we had a rainy day and needed something to pass the time. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our visit!
We spent over 3 hours at the museum and enjoyed every moment. It is easy to lose interest in some museums when you visit for a long time, but we did not get that at all. The exhibits were well presented and varied enough to keep things interesting. There is also something for everyone, including history, art, and interactive exhibits.
Highly recommend giving this museum a visit if you are in the area.

If you enjoy maritime history and exhibits, put the Galata Museo del Mare on your list of things to do in Genoa. Five floors of interesting exhibits across hundreds of years related to sailing and shipping over the seas. Kind staff, great panoramic views from the top floor, and though I was solo on my visit, this would be a good experience for families as well. Only challenge I had was, with my limited and lacking Italian language skills, I didn't get to fully engage with several of the exhibits that were in Italian only. Fortunately there is Google Translate to help out.

Beautiful maritime musuem with much to offer. 17 euros and you have the whole musuem and submarine at your disposal. Only recommendation is that a gift shop full of genoa history would have been a bonus
Davinio Dwarkasing — Google review
Definitely worth the cost of the ticket!! Five floors of exposition and a great view on the museum roof. It has plenty of interactive activities, quite unusual in Italy. They are great as well. You have a simulator for driving boats and submarines. The museum drives you during the naval evolution giving and hints of the seamans during the different historic periods. The immigration section should be a mandatory visit for all children.

Brilliant museum with so much to see! Definitely bring kids to see the ships and climb down to a submarine. Museum is very looked after and Genovese people take a lot of pride in it. Definitely visit the emigration floor (4) also to see life on the ship and climb to the very top for a panoramic view of the city! Definitely worth a visit!

Great museum, very unpleasant staff (especially the older lady with glasses from reception). She was very annoyed by every question we had and she answered very "edgy" (we if they had an audio guide available and from where we can take helmets for submarine). Altough everywhere in the museum it is written you can acces the audio guide with the ticket code and 1 euro, she said no audio guide exists. She also sent us all the time to her colleague, meaning to change the row and sit in line again altough her colleague was 30 cm in her right and she was free, no one was behind us and we already sat in line.

Interesting. I thought it had enough English for me, but I can see why some people complain about only the Italian for a lot of it. I still found it enjoyable, but maybe a bit high priced for 17 Euro. The front staff were extremely nice to me. Lots of interesting things to see and the history of Genoa and boats are interesting enough for a few hour visit.

Amazing experience in a fantastic interactive museum. Galata Museum is a journey through history to understand the progression of ships and how naval instruments change to guide the navigation, how ancient people lived on top of ships, the vital role of migration over time, it is an inclusive experience that will engage everyone with the perfect naval reconstruction, photograph, 3Ds experience and the different structure of each floor. The last one was a wonderful surprise: the last 12 hours on the Andrea Doria, the recreation is wonderful and the reward is the breathtaking view on the city on the last floor. An adventure to do not miss for adults, children, families in which everyone will find his own space.
Located in the picturesque Gavi hills, Designer Outlet Serravalle is a sprawling shopping center designed to resemble an Italian village. It offers a delightful shopping experience with tree-lined streets and fountains, along with great deals on designer brands. The outlet features over 230 stores showcasing international and Italian designer labels, including renowned names like Casadei, Iceberg, and MMissoni. Visitors can also explore 11 dining options ranging from cafes to restaurants for a well-rounded experience.
Superb outlet with a large choice of luxury stores (gucci, prada, burberry, michael kors, etc.). The prices are very affordable compared to their initial prices, you can find what you are looking for! To eat there are a lot of fast food (macdo, burger king) and also a few restaurants. To go there from Milan, I recommend taking the shuttle on Get your guide for 20 euros round trip per person, the drive takes about 1h30!

- 45 minutes from Rome central station
- limited brand (many brands are missing)
- good prices
- comparing it with other outlets it’s smallest little bit
- worth to visit if you in Rome
-by taxi around 35 to 50 Euro

The outlet is fantastic and here is my advice before visiting please:
1- Come with full stomach ( not hungry) otherwise you’ll waist your time in long cue to order food because of the crowded
2- come as early as possible otherwise you’ll wait about 20 minutes to get inside each shop
3- come early to find cars 🚗 parking
4- bring a suitcase 🧳 with you to carry your purchased items otherwise you’ll be tired of carrying stuff
5- Dressed well especially if you’re visiting in Winter ❄️ + comfortable shoes

If you want to hunt designer goods with a good bargain, this is the place. Its not offer new arrival product, but some of the product still a steal deal. Prepare about 2-3 hours to enjoy your hunting in this big hunting ground. The place is too open to the sky with minimum shade. Buy 151eur in one receipt to eligible for tax refund, please ask the cashier as the minimum value might change from time to time. You can not combine several receipt, it must be in one receipt to be eligible for tax claim.

Waste of a whole day. Two or three hours are enough instead. But the shuttle only allows for a whole day's travel. And also suitable only for those who want to buy a lot of brands and like shopping malls. Those who come to Milan for a few days, it is not worth going all the way there and wasting an entire day.
Beyond that, a nice place, beautiful and designed, very comfortable to walk around

The outlet mall offers a fantastic shopping experience with a wide variety of shops, including designers and luxury brands. Located just an hour from Milan, the journey is smooth and easy, making it a convenient destination for a day of shopping. Additionally, having a tax refund office inside the mall adds to the convenience and overall appeal of this shopping destination.

+ You can visit the other clothes shops such as h&m OVS and mega supermarkets including electronic shops which are located near to this outlet
+ Many restaurants including fast foods are available
+ Enough free parking available
+ Amazing architecture
+ They speak English in most of the shops
- Always packed, so crowded (people from whole europe visits here even from Russia 😳)
- Prices are expensive
- Mostly you wait in lines in front of the outlet shops (Covid regulations)
- Compulsory mask and hand disinfection
- Very hot during the summer

An outdoor outlet mall, clean, organised and have almost all the big brands. It is 150 mins from Milan. You can go by taxi and cost you about 200 euro or by a shuttle bus that cost about 20 euro. Try to choose your time carefully because weather can make your experience are very bad especially in summer. They have variety of restaurants. Prices are not that cheap it differ than airport (tax free) by about 10%. Quite different than American outlets which give much low prices.
My experience was not bad. I recommend a visit but not a must.

2nd time in 11 years. Great to be back.
Vast place to wonder, immaculately maintained, super clean wash room, good brands but you have to look deep to spot the discounted stuff. Most stuff are reasonably priced.
Food kiosk and McDonald served nice food to munched. You dun have time for a full meal. Take the entire day to shop this place.

This is by far the largest outlet I’ve come across in North Italy. They have plenty of brands to select from, and the walking area is well organized and quite decent. Plenty of seating and eatery’s to choose from. One could spend an easy 1-2 days here; mainly heavy shoppers. And July is the month of heavy sale, I believe.
Fahd Batayneh فهد بطاينة — Google review
The bigger brands like Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Burberry, Loro Piana... have more goods and selections to choose from (and just a matter of personal taste to get anything you like). Celine is disappointing though. Discount-wise is quite attractive.
Overall the outlet does have quite some shops to browse for a day leisurely. A few restaurants to choose from, and some reside on the other side of the main road which you can cross by a bridge.
We took the shuttle service from Milan Centrale. The morning trip took quite long as some shoppers bought tickets at the spot when onboarding and also stopped mid-point for more pickup. The bus left Centrale at 10:15 (instead of the scheduled 10:00) and arrived at the outlet around 11:50. The return trip left on time at 18:30 and arrived back to Centrale at 20:00. The shuttle staff was pleasant though.

When in search of designer brands (Gucci, Prada, Armani) or discounts on my favorites (Coach, Nike, Levis Tommy H.), I go here. Prices in Milan city center exceed my budget but I will always find something here. It's also near some nice vinyards. A good day trip from Milan or when traveling to Piedmont region.
Celia A. — Google review
Although the place is far from Milan, there is a direct bus tour from Milano Centrale. The ticket for the trip costs €25, and the bus departs at 09:00, arriving at 11:00. This gives you ample time to explore all the shops there. Please note the time schedule for the ticket; if your return ticket is for 16:15, you should be at the bus by that time, or else you will need to purchase a flexible ticket for an additional €5 and wait until the next hour to return to Milan. During my visit, not many shops were having sales, but the prices were reasonable, and the workers welcomed everyone with a smile. My advice is to go there on weekdays when it’s less crowded, making it easier to shop. The prices for food in the area are not very cheap but are acceptable. Anyway, I would like to visit again during the festive or sales seasons

Definitely worth the visit. It is an old medieval castle that one of the workers said dates back to the year 1002. Lots of the furniture inside dates back to the 1600s and is all original. The day we were there they were removing over 100 pictures from one of the rooms in order to restore it to the state it was in in the 1600s. Behind the pictures you could see the original frescos. In general the inside of the castle is majestic. The kids will enjoy the labyrinth and the castle play ground. The settings is amazing as you are surrounded my the Alps.
