Roccia dell'Elefante, also known as Elephant Rock, is a remarkable natural formation located along state road 134 in the Castelsardo area of Sardinia. This large rust-colored boulder, about four meters high, bears a striking resemblance to a seated elephant. Not only is it an intriguing sight to behold, but it also holds archaeological significance as it contains two ancient Fairy Houses used for burial rituals thousands of years ago.
Definitely recommend it to visit when you're in Sardinia! Couple on minutes drive from Castelsardo. It's free as being on the side of the road. Parking is easy and free we got there around 11am in June '19, some tourist but not crowded. Could comfortably take photos. The view also beautiful as always on this island 🌞😁

It look’s exactly like in the pictures. There were only 3-4 people at the time I went which was at 15:00 so i guess it’s not a very visited site.
It was interesting but kinda looked human made it has like tunnels which looked to perfect to be natural.
You won’t be spending more than 5 minutes there since it’s not really big. If you don’t want to lose 5 minutes you can pass by it by car and you will see everything since it’s right next to the road.

The Elephant rock.
Yes there is a resemblence to a pachyderm. Which, when you think about it, is rather a remarkable achievement for a rock.
It's on the roadside just outside of

Spiaggia Pittulongu is a stunning beach located not far from Olbia. Visitors can enjoy sun beds, snacks, and various water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and surfing in the crystal clear blue waters. While it may be chilly in May, the beach provides an amazing view of incredible colors regardless of the weather.
Just come back from a weeks stay here. It is a beautiful island not very touristy at all. The beaches are stunning with clear water brilliant for snorkelling. It is a little gem of a country, so much to explore. We hired a car and went round the north of the island where there are some stunning beaches. Just a couple of points, people don’t speak much English so it is worth learning a bit of Italian before you go. Our apparently universal travel plugs did not work over here so worth checking you have the correct plugs. Car parks are quite expensive by the beaches 2.50 euros an hour. There are very few sun beds on the beaches, most italians bring their own travel chairs. If you do find sunbeds they are 25 euros for 2 for the day. Food is fantastic, but not much meat on the menu. If you like fish and vegetables like I do you will be very happy
Joanne johncey — Google review
Really beautiful beach not to far from Olbia. We were unlucky with the weather when we went as it was very windy but I can imagine how nice it would be in good weather
Do not make the mistake and walk from Olbia as we did as there are no footpaths, best to get the 04 bus
Sean Cowmey — Google review
Overall the beach itself is ok. Pros is the fact that the sand area is long and spacious giving you plenty of space to lay out; there are a couple of beach clubs to get food and drinks; umbrella and chair rentals; nice swimming sand bar type beach; and public bathrooms available. There is a lifeguard stand to ensure safety of your little ones. Cons … the area itself is not the Sardinia beauty you come to expect from its white sandy beaches considering its in front of a residential area; the locals like to sit really really close to each other and you so be ready for a lot of loud talking around you.
Bruno Hulsmann — Google review
amazing beach! beautiful clear blue waters. had a great time. there’s beach chairs with umbrella available for rent at 20euros at mama beach restaurant (cool restaurant too!). weather’s quite chilly for May by the way 😬
Sophie N. — Google review
If you want a quite and peaceful day, then this beach ain’t for you. Pittulongu is a sandy and family friendly beach close to Olbia city center. Bus number 4 stops 2 min from the beach and takes around 20 min from Olbia. Be aware that it can get pretty crowded on the ride back.
This beach is quite popular so be ready to get there early if you want to snag a good spot. There are also sun beds to rent if you prefer that. A few restaurants along the beach that seemed popular, although we didn’t try them. Many vendors roaming around.
Julia Dian — Google review
Very peaceful big enough. Has enough space to put umbrellas. Has lots of restaurant around if you need food. Free parking and water is clean and not too deep.
Wendler Zacariotto — Google review
Regardless of the weather, the colours are incredible. Also beautiful in summer, clear water and not too crowded during the week.
Andri FR — Google review
Beautiful beach just outside of Olbia. Very easy to get to by car. There are two free car parks but watch out as the car park itself is full of seawater in places and also very uneven. We went in October so the beach was not crowded at all. The beach is very clean. Coarser sand which is then very fine when you get into the sea. Very clear waters and shallow for a good few metres. Lots of fishes swimming near to the shore that you can almost touch them! Beach itself is free - you have to pay for the toilets/showers. A couple of restaurants are along this beach.
Sue To — Google review
Not the nicest- the water was the murkiest we have seen during our holiday so far, and spotted a jellyfish. It was really busy. I wouldn’t go back here. I think perhaps its popularity is down to its proximity to Olbia.
Rosie Gothard — Google review
Spiaggia Pittulongu is a long, sandy beach located in Olbia, Sardinia. It is a popular destination for swimming, sunbathing, and windsurfing. The beach is backed by pine trees and has clear, blue waters.
There are a number of restaurants and bars located near the beach, making it a great place to spend a day in the sun. The beach is also a great place for families with young children, as the water is shallow and calm.
Marcin Siwicki — Google review
This is the first Sardinian beach I saw and it was a nice encounter with the crystal clear water that is typical for Sardinia. The beach has a big opening to the sea and that is why the water could easily become too wavy. The beach is also a bit commercial, but it has two options, both renting a beach chair or putting your own towel on the sand. If you have many days on Costa Smeralda, I recommend visiting it and eating on one of its restaurants which have tasty food. The town/village of Pittulongu offers you the option to see at least 5 very beautiful beaches. If you don’t have so much time on Costa Smeralda, I recommend skipping it and focusing on other small beaches such as Pellicano which is nearby. The bus ASPO no. 4 connects all the beaches, but pay attention to the hours of the bus, because it passes rarely and only until 8 p.m.
Veronica Isailă — Google review
This beach is about 20 minutes from the city center of Olbia, take the bus number 4 ( you can buy a weekly pass for all the busses for 10€ in a Tabachi shop). Busses are always running and not too crowded. The beach is spacious, crowded, but its easy to rent a chair and a umbrella, but carefull, there are two places to rent, the blue chairs are much more cheaper than the brownich ones... crystal clear water, thin sand beach, water around 22 and 24 degrees in July. I recommend a visit, very beautiful beach.
Hugo Cruz — Google review
Large beach with clear water. Sand in the water without rocks or algae. Clean and mesmerizing.
Best beach in Olbia in my opinion.
Minh Quentin NGUYEN — Google review
Crowded, but we managed to find available sun beds and umbrellas - far from bars though. I'd recommend to bring your own umbrella, because it's quite pricey to rent one and more crowded in this area and there is no natural shadow. Otherwise water was unimaginably clear, sandy beach is great and view is amazing, all the facilities needed are available. Also a lot of parking space and good bus connections.
Nives Bednjanic — Google review

Capo Testa is a picturesque coastal area in the northernmost point of Sardinia. It offers visitors stunning views of the sea and rocky hiking trails, as well as coves with small sandy beaches to explore. The peninsula is known for its weather-carved granite boulders that resemble sculptures by Henry Moore and a sturdy lighthouse that overlooks the blue waters towards Corsica.
Lovely panoramic view and setting, beautifull spos and bars. Parking tricky (need to come very early) be careful parking attendants are red hot there.

Worth the visit. Great walk about this smal cape. Great landscape.
Polonita G — Google review
It's nice and okay. Based on the wind, you can choose either beach. Water looks like the Caribbean, but you need to watch out for broken glass everywhere!
Magnus Michael — Google review
Really impressing rocks & worth a visit! Parking not so easy and the trails need some hints where to go. The beach directly at Capo Testa is a unique place, but extremely crowded - and hard to reach (some „climbing“).
Tobi H. — Google review
Stunning sunset, rock formations that are out of this world and lots of hiking trails.
Vedran Korponaji? — Google review
Was a great day with some amazing views!
Great with kids, can climb pretty much all over.
Even the coffee bar at the top was great… good burgers and great fries
Peter Jackson — Google review
Capo Testa is great for a walk to discover the rock formations sculpted by the wind. But it is also great for a swim. There are two sides, on one side a long strip of sand and the other a couple of hidden small creeks with some sand. We chose the later for its peaceful nature and crystal clear water.
Parking could be a big issue during the high season. While you come on the road and see some cars, park, don’t go further thinking you will find something. You won’t.
Jean-Philippe Cyr — Google review
This is the most beautiful and interesting coast in Sardegna. Crystal clear water, some fish, strange rock formations and several path around.
Be careful with the parking! If you manage to find a place, where the whole car is beyond the white line, you are lucky, you can park for free. If a part of your car crosses the white line, you will pay a nice fine,so better choice to find a blue line slot and pay at a machine...
one of the most beautiful sunset views on costa smeralda. climb the rocks for some spectacular visuals. bring a pizza and some wine and something soft to sit on so that you can spend as much time as you want there. met some locals who treated us to their home grown grape tomatoes.

When I arrived at Olbia and I checked in my first question was
What place should I visit If I have only 3 days here?
The answer was: If you have a car you should visit Capo Testa
Capo Testa is located at the north of Olbia.
It is the closest point to Corsica and you can see it’s coast
This place (Capo Testa) is not only beautiful for being nearest to Corsica but also for the phenomenal small beaches with
Yellow sand, rocks and blue and crystalline water
You can find several beautiful beaches between Capo Testa and Santa Taresa di Galluro where you can choose either small beaches, Bahia’s and beaches a little bigger
If you are thinking in visiting Cerdeña staying in Olbia, you must visit Capo Testa (it’s far away 60 kms from Olbia)

Fantastic place to trek and enjoy beaches. The granite natural sculpture and the abandoned lighthouse make this place surreal. Plenty of option and also you could spot some of the locals ( 🐐) climbing 😁. I would say is difficult with small kids due to access to the beach is quite rocky

The popular Plage de Santa Giulia in Porto-Vecchio, a bay on the south coast of Corsica, is surrounded by clear, shallow water and beachside restaurants. The pier offers fishing opportunities.
One of the best beaches in Corsica! There are good bars and restaurants, water is crystal clear. One can walk around and explore nice and more quiet places around.
F. Zefi — Google review
We expected more since we visited palombaggia. Santa Giulia is long but narrow beach so we hardly found our spot. We were located in front of some mobile homes and it was really bad smell I guess from the toilettes. The water was clear and shallow, so is perfect for small kids. But a lot of grass in the water and on the beach. Parking lot is 5min away walking and it costs us 5€ per whole day.
Sanja Rozman — Google review
Very beautiful beach in the southeast of Corsica. Partly white sand and turquoise water. The beach is very long and unfortunately also very busy. Nevertheless beautiful. If you are looking for a quieter place to sunbathe, you should walk down the beach to the end, even further than the last hotel-restaurant. In front of the the Hotel there is also a small free parking lot, next to a small lake, but there you have to be a bit lucky, because the other parking lots cost 15 € per day. If you want to go out for a meal, you should know that the beach is mainly home to high-priced eateries. Exception is a kind of fast food restaurant, but that is unfortunately at the other end of the beach.

Great beach. Parking cost 10 Euro, but they give it back if you order anything in a bar or bistro. Clean sand, music, a lot of young people. Cool.
100% Recommended.
Alex Pelevin — Google review
An amazing beach with clear water for the kids to play all day. There are two bars where you can easily get all the necessary food and drinks, so if you are a person who can stay in one place for the whole day, this beach offers everything. For the first 50 meters the water is very shallow, again amazing for little kids. They can walk in and out (under your watchful eye of course) all day. The water was also not cold. I recommend at least a couple of hours to visit, but it could get crowded.
Jon Premik — Google review
A beautiful beach to visit. A free parking lot located at the beach. A couple of restaurants situatuated along the beach for an ice cream, a beverage or something to eat. Lots of shade and lovely white sandy beach.
Charlene Elliott — Google review
Water is shallow and clear, sand is white. Bay is beautiful and the ship can’t come close. So why just 3 out of 5?
The grade is lowered by the August crowd, but hey, this is the time i am here. It is super busy.
There’s also quite a bit of seaweeds that reduce the amount of available beach. They also smell quite a lot. If you’re going in the paid part of it, just disregard this, they keep it pretty clean and they look gorgeous.
Another minus is the parking, the closest to the beach costs 20€!!! TWENTY!!!
There are cheaper options with nice pals (search for the 5€ one on google map, there’s a 5’ walk on a nice path).
Overall, there are FAR better options. Balistra, petit Sperone, Stagnolu and even Rondinara.
mikyberra — Google review
Clear water, cute bars & a lot of parking space. Many people, even in october - but we had enough space. Perfect with little kids!
Mara Schlager — Google review
Very nice beach. We went there a bit late, but we will definitely come back for a swim, the surrounding is magnificent!
michel mougey — Google review
The beach definitely has a potential. However, it is a victim of its own popularity. In the high season it is very busy. Additionally, the beach is not cleaned of decaying sea weeds making it a very unpleasantness place to lay your towel on. The prices in the surrounding bars and restaurants resemble those found in Switzerland rather than in France. Perhaps the biggest nuisance is the noise pollution. The beach is used to rent all kind of watercraft that emit constant noise and exhaust fumes, polluting this otherwise beautiful place even more. You will do better going somewhere else, unless you enjoy crowds, high prices, dead seewed and noise.
J B — Google review
One of the best beaches of South of Corsica. Absolutely loved the beach and the water. Highly recommended to visit when around Porto Vencchio
Sucheta Sarkar — Google review
This is what a beach should look like. Beautiful sea, mountains in the background, warm sun. Usually not too crowded, plenty of room to swim, take a walk by the shore, or play with your kids. Definitely will return here!
Tamás Kondor — Google review
Ridiculously packed and honestly expected a lot more. I think the beach is victim to its popularity as the beach was quite dirty with cigarette butts and random trash , and this was early in the morning. Also on the left hand side it’s just a port with all the boats so doesn’t feel great to be swimming so close to that. Views are very nice and water quite warm.
Getting in and out is a complete nightmare as the roads are extremely narrow and two cards barely fits. Arrive as early as possible and leave between 2-330pm
Nick Verschelde — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches close to Porto-Vecchio. It's definitely a must-see when you're in the area.
After 11 am can get quite crowded, but that's something normal.
Unfortunately, some people act like they are at their house throwing away rubbish like bottle caps. You have to be careful while walking on the sand.
Palombaggia is a picturesque beach located near Porto-Vecchio, boasting stunning views of its white sandy shore and turquoise waters. This scenic coastal area is surrounded by evergreen trees, creating a serene and natural ambiance. Nearby, visitors can explore the charming town of Porto-Vecchio with its historic citadel and quaint streets. Palombaggia itself offers a lagoon-like bay with clear and crystal waters, perfect for swimming or simply admiring the beauty of nature.
Wonderful sand beach with convenient parking. Came at around 11 in the morning and it was not a problem to park car in the shade of pine trees. And parking is free! Beach itself goes alongside, walk further and it will not be crowded at all. Crystal clear and shallow water, stones to make insta pics, bars everything is there! The best beach for us visited in Corsica! Recommended!!!

Nice blue shallow water. Great for little kids. Lots of pine needles and other natural debris on the beach. On Sundays extremely crowded. Some jellyfish in the water.

This is, to me, the best beach in Corsica. The dand is white and thin, the water very clean and light blue. You can park very close to the beach if you get there early (before 10am) otherwise there are parking on the street and with a 10-15min walk (very easy) you get there anyway.
Around 11 till 5pm is a bit crowded but still there's plenty of space.

Beautiful long beach. Parking is a challenge but possible if you arrive early. Keep your flipflops/sandles on when up near the trees, sharp spines that fall from the pines into your feet are no good.

At 11am, we’ve ordered 2 cappuccinos at an almost empty restaurant. We were served two cups of warm milk with barely dissolved instant coffee or similar substance floating on top although they have an espresso machine. Upon politely asking whether our order was misunderstood, we were informed in no uncertain terms that “chez nous le cappuccino est comme ça”. Best avoided.

This was such a nice place - our first question was “do you accept credit card” as some very nearby places don’t or pretend they don’t accept CC but here the waiter/ owner was very clear: yes we do - the food itself was very tasty, the service was very friendly (almost ‘not-French’ if you get my point), and the location/ view is excellent - thank you “Aiguilles” team!

This place is excellent in a lot of regards.
They offer top quality meals, when "it was too late" for the other two restaurants nearby, the staff are excellent, very nice, the meals were all of a quite large portion and very tasty.
You can even get accommodation (with breakfast, lunch, dinner included) below in the basement on bunkbeds, they have showers, a small kitchen.
Overall, it was an excellent choice to rest here for the evening before continuing our journey on the GR20.

Excellent service, great food, good beer.
We came from climbing very late at 9 pm and they made us some awesome food!
Service was superb! Very warm-hearted! Looking forward to visit this place again!
We like corsica ferries more than m...y ships. But it depends. They have good ships and not so good ships. We had a lot of cabins. Some cabins are quiet and some are very noisy.

My suggestions for improvement: The staff on the Livorno ferry could definitely be friendlier. A more polite manner and greater willingness to assist would significantly enhance the travel experience. The ferry seems to be in an outdated condition and requires renovation. New carpets, chairs, and overall modern furnishings would uplift the onboard ambiance. If dogs are allowed on board, appropriate facilities should be provided for them. Artificial grass and clean disposal options for dog waste would be a welcome improvement. The conditions of the onboard sanitary facilities are unacceptable. Cleanliness and hygiene should be top priorities and urgently improved. Surveys should inquire about the status of the pool if it is actually in operation. The information should be current and relevant. The website is also in need of improvement to better inform customers about the services and the condition of the ferry. The Wi-Fi code didn't work, which was a frustrating experience. Likewise, the booked Express Boarding did not function as expected.
My opinion on the crossing: Overall, my experience on this ferry was disappointing. The staff's rudeness, the poor condition of the facilities, non-functional Wi-Fi, and the disappointing Express Boarding all marred the experience. The cabins were acceptable, and I appreciate the honesty of the staff when my wallet was found in one of the cabins. Boarding in Bastia went smoothly, and the staff there were more polite. Nevertheless, there is an urgent need for improvements on this ferry to justify the high prices. The information on the website should be updated to better inform future passengers and avoid disappointments.

They get you from A to B, with a big boat that you can put your car on. Expect no more and I wish you the best.
We had a 1-hour departure delay that turned into 2 (we were notified the morning of departure, that was ok), then ended up being 5 as we waited on the parking lot. And that was just the delay of departure. Upon arrival, there was another hour+ of delay for whatever reason. When the doors finally opened to get to the cars, the required vouchers for reimbursement magically went missing until there were just a handful of people left waiting. Great enthusiastic announcement over the PA system (also the first one on all this)! As we by then had a sleeping toddler and were in no rush (we stopped caring), we were among the last so we actually have the voucher. Don't expect any response when you try to get reimbursed, though. Their info on the website is total B#, there's no followup whatsoever (which is against the law, but hey..), they just don't respond and believe me, we've tried, in many different ways. A bad product is one thing, but a bad customer service is another.
No second chance from us, nor any of our friends. the worst travel experience of my life, by a lot.

Last summer I travelled from Toulon to Corsica to visit the village of my ancestors and promote my titanium bicycle. I recommend renting a cabin to be comfortable. It was a safe trip and food at the restaurants was very good. Staff was friendly and professional. Departure and arrival were very organized.

When we boarded, we had to wait a long time until we got on the ship at the last minute. The staff seemed completely haphazard. The whole deck smelt of diesel and there were many damaged chairs. Everything vibrated and made a lot of noise, the stay was terrible and the ship looked very run down. The dog toilet was a disgrace. When we left the ship we were only allowed to our vehicles very late for some unknown reason, the gates were already open and when we entered the lower deck cars were already driving towards us. There was no question of safety. Then our vehicle was unfriendly escorted out by incompetent staff without really keeping an eye on the vehicles already travelling. The only positive aspect we can mention is that we were able to cross the sea at all.
Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention that the staff attach advertising stickers to the vehicles without being asked, which are sometimes difficult to remove without leaving adhesive residue.

2 types of boats. It gets the job done but 1 boat is pretty old and dirty, other one is bit more modern and cleaner. Ship is run by Italian people, and they run it like it's their own monarchy, with the passenger as lowest "rank". The boat had some delay and we had to get out of the cabins so they can start "cleaning" it. But the garage-deck wasn't open yet, so the hallway got more and more stacked and hotter and hotter and the crew was kinda shouting with the typical "italian" handsignals, not the best experience.
Fetovaia is a charming beach known for its picturesque pine grove providing shade on sunny days. Spiaggia di Sansone is a charming and modest beach that boasts an exceptional level of beauty. It features clear and transparent waters for swimming, as well as surrounding cliffs, making it picturesque. However, the beach can be very crowded, and parking may require some walking distance due to distant parking. Despite this inconvenience, the amenities provided at the beach are enjoyable, such as a small restaurant with a fantastic view.
It's a lovely beach, clean and generally quiet. The white pebbles are great for the feet and the water perfect depth for swimming and exploring the rock with children. Unsupervised parking available above the beach, around 300 m walk.

The best beach on the island I've been to. The water is crystal clear and the fish swim around you really close. It is a pebble beach so I recommend swimming shoes. In the summer months, if you arrive early, you can park on the side of the road, otherwise there is a private car park which costs 12 € for the whole day. Before arriving at the beach there is a small restaurant with a fantastic view.

Beautiful beach!!!
There is a parking lot (10 euro for a whole day) where you can leave your car.
Then, you walk down a narrow road and arrive at beach La Sorgente. If you proceed down the path, you arrive at beach Sansone, which is only a few meters away from La Sorgente. There is a bar too in-between the two beaches.
The beaches are made of pebbles and have clear blue water. One small issue: it is usually packed. My advice is to come early and get a nice spot :) however, we arrived late, around ten o'clock, but managed to find a free spot. Also, on the furthest part of Sansone beach, around 2 pm there will be no sun on the beach, cause the rock shadows it, which is however pretty enjoyable anyway.
You can dive and have a relaxing day in one of the most stunning beaches of Elba island!

Beautiful and quiet! An immersion in the sound of the sea. A short down path to reach this beautiful spot is worthwhile the experience. There is a small restaurant nearby but no kiosk so bring your own water and snacks if you wish not to walk anymore

Amazing beach, rocky instead of sand, but the water is incredible. Good spot for swimming and enjoying the day. There’s a small restaurant to buy snacks and drinks with and amazing view from the top. The parking situation is a nightmare. Make sure you arrive early as it gets crowded. Parking is done in the small mountain road and then you have to do a short hike downwards to the beach. This place is not accesible for wheelchair. Umbrellas and beach beds are available for rent however in small qty due to the limited space.

CavallinoMatto is a forest amusement park that offers exciting rides and family-friendly attractions, as well as live shows, a pizzeria, and a bar. Children's access to the various rides is determined by their height - from 90 cm up to 130 cm. The park is well-maintained and safe, with plenty of shows for visitors to attend throughout the day. The entry fee is very reasonable.
This amusement park is an oasis of fun and excitement. Outstanding roller coasters, with the standout being "Freestyle". On a week day in July, there was remarkably low crowd levels, and almost no waiting. It's an especially great destination for big kids and can ride every attraction. Pre-ordered tickets are a bit cheaper.

Really nice, not too big amusement park. Of course they don't have the big budget to theme everything, but they have a lot of attractions for ages 3 and up and it is very clean. The parking is for free, which is great and except for the really good themed Dinosaur water ride there were very little waiting times. We had a great day and highly recommend this for families.

We enjoyed the park with our small (3 and 4 years old) kids a lot. The park is pretty well maintained. The dino show was great. We liked all the shows actually. Bought the tickets online with no hassle. Some rides were closed. It would be good if the web informed about it. The webpage could be better.

Lovely theme park in Italy. So many different rides from age 5 to big kid like me (I'm 42 btw). Has a variety of different places to eat and grab an ice cream and an excellent picnic area, which is useful. Wasn't too crowded, which was a surprise being August but not an unwelcome one as it meant we didn't have to wait long to get on any of the rides. Would love to go again next time I am in Italy

You pay a small one time entry (26€ if you pay in advance) and then can access all attractions as often as you want without paying extra and without waiting in lines.
Almost NO WAITING AT ALL, only at the jurassic river we had to wait around 30min.
All the attractions are really fun for both kids and adults. Throughout the day you have some shows you can attend to and also a 4D cinema playing a short movie.
You can easily spend the whole day here!
Big RECOMMEND!

THE WORST PIZZA SLICE OF MY LIFE
Sunday April 7. It is a nice park, small but well-kept if it weren't for the restaurant part, and the squat toilets are still in 2024. For 89 euros, a family of 3 deserves more than a frozen, industrial, slice of pizza ( 1 menu soft drink + pizza euro 7,50, for 3 people another 24 eur0) Certainly the worst of my life. Not even abroad have I eaten pizzas of such a low standard. And given that the centre has been open for decades, perhaps I wonder how much customer care there is if the toilets are still squat toilets with obvious inconveniences, especially if you have children. But we are in Italy, a seaside place, so shut up and pay.

We've spent the whole day in the park. Access to the attractions for the kids is determined via body height. Some are from 90 cm, 100, 110 and 130 cm. Lots of fun, for adults as well. The park seems to be well maintained and save. Many shows to attend. Entry fee is very reasonable.

A lovely open air space sandwiched by the sea and the city. The warmly-coloured chequered marble floor, the tall palm trees and the grand bandstand in the centre made it an ideal place for sitting, strolling, jogging, running and cycling.

While visiting Pisa we took the train to Livorno for the afternoon. A bus from the station brought us to the Terrazza Mascagni. It is a lovely walk along chequered tiles surrounded by a waist high wall, which gave beautiful views over the Ligurian sea. There are benches where you can sit and rest / enjoy the views. While there was a cafe nearby the restaurants were all closed by 2.30 / 3pm so make sure you eat before you visit. I would also recommend when buying bus tickets that you buy return tickets as well as it is difficult to find anywhere that sells them.

This area (contrary to other reviews) is NOT well maintained at all.
Haven’t been here for a few years, but it looks like material choice was wrong for the balustrades… appears that saltwater has soaked into the concrete and corroded the reinforcing bars - shattering many of the top stones.
Now looks a real mess… 🤦♂️
Give this a miss - just not worth the walk from town, unless using one of the private beach front facilities nearby.

In this square, there's the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. The way it's built is quite fascinating. Almost everyone who comes here wants to take a picture while pretending to hold up the leaning tower with their hands. It's a fun and popular thing to do!

I visited Piazza del Duomo on a sunny day in August. The square was crowded with people, but I was able to find a spot to stand and take in the amazing sight of the Leaning Tower. I was in awe of its size and beauty, and I couldn't help but smile as I took pictures and imagined what it would be like to climb to the top.
After admiring the Leaning Tower for a while, I wandered around the square and took a closer look at the other buildings. The Cathedral is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture, and I was impressed by the intricate detail of the sculptures on the facade. The Baptistery is also a stunning building, and I enjoyed walking around the interior and admiring the white marble columns.
I spent a few hours exploring Piazza del Duomo, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It is a truly unique and special place, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Pisa.
* I was expecting a lot from this place and it totally amused me.
* As usual, people from different countries were visiting this piece of art and the atmosphere was cheerful even on this scorching heat. Everyone were giving their best pose possible 😉
* In the square apart from the tower their are other important buildings, such as visiting the Cathedral or the Baptistery.
* Fun fact, did you know that the Leaning Tower is actually sinking? So, happy to visit this terminal tower. I hope w tge humanity will find some solution for this problem 🤗
I hope this helps!

Highly recommend seeing everything in the piazza. If you want good food, walk to the other side of the river. Buy tickets online in advance. No bags are allowed inside the tower.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a tower that leans off of the vertical, due to weak subsoil. The tower was built in 1372 and has been tilting ever since. It is a popular tourist destination, and included in our 10-day Northern Italy tour led by local insider. The climb is hard, but the view from the top is simply superb.
Beautiful place, everything is close to the next attraction. Of course, a lot of people trying to take the typical picture, but you can manage to get good shots away from others. Nice coffee shops to have a snack or an amazing ice cream. Remember to buy tickets in advance, all attractions have different times and there are some restrictions in regards to age (do your research).

Worth seeing but not what I expected which really was my fault.
First arriving and parking: the parking lots are located about 1.5 kilometers away from the square taking about 20 minutes walk. It was HOT when we were there. We should have considered more heat precautions.
Shops: so many shops peddling tourists goods of all shapes and sizes. Purses, shirts, pins, etcetera. Very few are worth while and had I known there was a proper gift shop I would have waited for it. It's located inside near the tower.
Site: make sure to walk around and take in the structures from all the given angles. Tickets for the climb to the top of tower are worth it. There is also a small fountain on the corner inside where you can get some refreshing water from a small phallic out cropping. Also worth seeing.

We recently had the privilege of visiting the iconic Learning Tower of Pisa, and I must say, it exceeded every expectation I had. This architectural masterpiece truly lives up to its reputation as one of the world's most renowned landmarks.
The interior of the Learning Tower of Pisa is equally impressive. As I ascended the spiral staircase, the sense of history and wonder deepened with every step. The views from the top are nothing short of breathtaking. The panoramic vistas of the surrounding cityscape are amazing and offer a unique perspective on Pisa's rich heritage.
What truly stood out to us was the genuine warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their enthusiasm for sharing the tower's history and significance added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit. Pisa itself as a city is very beautiful and gives a very good vibe. It is filled with young people as it is a student city. Piazza del Duomo is great to stay and to visit everything it has as it is included in one ticket that is worth the price (at the time i bought it for 10 euros not including leaning tower climb) and this ticked is valid for one year. Leaning tower is cherry on top. To be honest it is greater when you see it live than what photos show. To me this city has been out of expectations, very beautiful.

We visited as part of a cruise we were doing, and our cruise docked late so we ended up walking most of the way. It was well worth it though. We were able to meet up with our tour group and walk up to the top of the tower. Some of the steps up the tower have been worn down over the years so they can be a slippery, so be careful. The grounds that the tower sits on is well kept and there are various shops and restaurants in the area as well. We didn’t have any kids with us, but I would imagine small kids would have a hard time climbing all the stairs.

There was a parking close to complex with good price, although when leaving, there was issue with gate and not charged :)) There is a bazar in front and inside.
To go inside the tower, need to have a ticket for 20 euro which usually comes with 1-hour wait. Ticket for the rest of the facility, will come with 7 bucks more, all for 27. I would suggest get the ticket for whole, and once you see the Piazza and cathedral, it will be your turn to get into the leaning tower. I liked to small Halal restaurant in front of the area.
Overall, it will be a great experience to spend 2 – 3 hours over there.

What an amazing building to see when coming to Italy. It’s amazing how it’s leaning and hasn’t moved a lot during these past centuries. I really enjoyed being here and I would definitely recommend you to come. One thing to note is that when doing your famous leaning tower pose, there will be a lot of people walking in front of you. So just be weary of that

Arriving at the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the evening heightened the enchantment of this iconic landmark. The warm hues of the setting sun cast a golden glow on the marble facade, enhancing its timeless beauty. Despite the late hour, the surrounding Square of Miracles was still alive with a vibrant energy.
We explored the base of the tower, marveling at its architectural peculiarity and the intricate details of the nearby Cathedral and Baptistery. The diminishing daylight didn't obscure the elegance of Pisa's historic ensemble.
As twilight descended, the Leaning Tower illuminated, creating a captivating silhouette against the night sky. The subdued lighting added a touch of mystery to the surroundings. The square, adorned with medieval architecture, exuded a quiet charm, making our evening visit a magical experience that showcased Pisa's beauty even under the enchanting cloak of dusk.

Wow... this miracle of architectural is even more impressive when seen live. I recommend buying a combined ticket for all attractions in Piazza del Duomo, because each place is truly magical! The price is 27€ and it is best to book it in online. The tower is a magnificent building, it looks majestic from the outside, but inside it is empty, there are only stairs leading up. An amazing structure where from the first step on the tower I feel how tilted it is.

If you get the chance then you must go to an amazing building. It's quite mesmerizing as you look at it. It's not too busy but not too sure how busy it will be in the summer. We went over Easter break. One for the bucket list ticked off.

Picturesque place from Florescence and a must see tower that’s leaning with time. Please buy tickets in advance they are particular about having. Only a few folks go up to the tower. Bags aren’t allowed. They have a good locker room free of charge.

Absolutely amazing place. Love seeing the whole area in its historical beauty. The tower itself is smaller than I imagined but just fantastic. 294 steps to the top and you can walk around most of the upper level. The views make it well worth a visit. You can purchase a ticket for all buildings at 27 euros each or just the tower at 20 euros pp. There is a free locker room for you to put all bags into as you can't take any bags up the tower. There is a free car park about 10 mins walk away or a bus from same car park. The walk is lovely and not bad at all and all sign posted very well.

I recommend getting there early in the morning, it's really peaceful and there aren't many people around. Buying tickets in advance is also recommended, you will then have to leave your stuff at the wardrobe and then line up to enter. The entrance is divided in groups, your group will have a precise hour at which you will enter, so you have to come at least 15 minutes before. Green pass is needed to access the tower. The steps are a bit worn-out, so you should wear comfortable shoes. The view is amazing, you can really see all the city from up there, you might feel a bit of seasickness because of the inclination

Amazing climbing the steps of the leaning tower. When climbing the steps, you clearly feel a tilt. The climb is quite long. Please be careful when you go up the main stairs there is another smaller set. Which leads to the top. Many people don't notice the passage and it's worth it . The view from the top is simply breathtaking. An absolute must climb if anyone visits Pisa.

We stopped here on our way to Rome. And it's exactly that: a nice and quick stop on your way to another destination. We spent an hour here to walk around and take some pictures.
It's a beautiful and funny sight to see
There is a big amount of people, but still very doable to take pictures.
Joy Wansleeben — Google review
Exactly what you expect it to be from what all you've read or seen about it. Did not enter as we hadn't booked tickets in advance but still pretty good from the outside. We had visited in June and it was super hot though so make sure to have plenty of water and something to protect you from the Sun.

Beautiful leaning tower, if you want to climb I'd suggest booking ahead. As gets very busy. Was full on a weekday but still space to take photos and enjoy the beauty and the tower defying gravity.

One of those moments when you actually come across this and see it with your own eyes that you marvel at the beauty of this structure.
Very fortunate to book tickets to walk the stairs to the top, which is absolutely worth the time and money.
You can feel the lean as you walk up and then the view from the top is just amazing.

This totally met my expectations! A really fascinating and beautiful piece of architecture. I’d recommend buying tickets in advance to climb up although some tickets were available on the day I went (mid October and not high season). The majority of the steps are fine to climb although the very last section is a little worn and the tilting can make you feel a little ‘wobbly’
The views are great and is highly recommend it

The Leaning Tower looks really pristine from the outside and is well looked after. Approx 250 steps to the top and spectacular views. Not too crowded as they have bookings for 15 min slots - it’s well managed. We went in November but I can imagine it being super hot in the summer against the marble.

We visited the tower on a rainy day. The tower still stands tall. It is amazing. The place is crowded. It is a must see and worth all the effort traveling from Rome to see the tower.
The town is small, nothing much to see beside the tower itself. Highly recommend to buy the ticket in advance or come as early as possible. The line gets very long in the afternoon.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is an iconic marvel that truly lives up to its reputation. The architecture is breathtaking, and the slight tilt adds a unique charm. The surrounding square is lively, providing a great atmosphere for visitors. It's a must-visit destination, offering history, beauty, and a bit of fun trying to capture that perfect perspective photo. Highly recommended!
Just to be aware, one of the site in square are tombs you will be walking on.

We have always wanted to visit here and it was even more incredible than we could have imagined!
The tower really is a building marvel and is so cool that you can climb up to the top by staircase and see from up there.
Buy tickets prior to not miss out and go early in the morning to avoid all the tour buses arriving around 9am.
We got there at 8am and it was quiet but by 10am when we left, the parking had a 30+ car queue to get in.
Great hour to explore on our roadtrip 🙌

This is a breathtaking place that I'd always wanted to visit and it did not disappoint. It was very disconcerting walking up the tower and falling over as it lent to one side of course. Even when you come out you're a bit disconcerted because you can't stand up straight! The cathedral and the baptistery were both wonderful as well. We had beautiful weather and to crown off a perfect day, the museum, full of statues and ancient relics, was a site to behold. There are wonderful cheap cafés nearby for excellent refreshments as well. My one piece of advice would be to buy a ticket for all the sites before getting there.

We’ve all seen this place on the TV, in the magazines and on the internet but to see it in real life is pretty special.
For those who want photos with nobody in the background, get there early. For those who just want to see it and take it all in, anytime of the day is great.
Very clean and leans a lot more than you imagine.

Iconic reason to visit Pisa and is totally worth the time. Climbing the tower is something you will never forget. Walking around the grounds and watching all the tourists pose for goofy pictures with the tower is actually kind of fun as well.
Plan to buy the combo ticket and spend the whole day. The church, crypts, and museum are all worth the time it takes to visit them.
Try to visit the baptistry on the hour or half hour mark when a security guard will amaze you with the acoustics by harmonizing with his echo. Truly magical display of sound.

Such a beautiful landmark, exceeded my expectations. We bought tickets to go up the top which we enjoyed, it was a strange experience walking up something leaning at such an angle. Definitely worth a visit if you can in your lifetime

Its quite the impressive structure. You can view it from the outside at any time but you will need a ticket if you want to climb the inside. The tickets are time gated and limited, so I would recommend purchasing them in advance if you want to go inside.
Evan Friscia — Google review
Yes, it's very tilted. Different when you see it on the spot. I don't recommend buying tickets in advance because there are specifics that will be explained on the spot much better and the flow of people is quite smooth. Now, april 2024, the ticket is 20€ tower, 7€ all else, 27€ combined (recommended). Have at least 2 hours spare time, 4 if you're slow. You need to leave your bag in storage so rather go without any kind of bags. You must also collect them immediately after. Normal rules apply for the other spaces - you must be covered to enter. You can get here easily from Bologna and Florence by bus. Have someone with you to make the "holding" picture. There is a toilet in the museum (southern building). Ticket office is one, you can't buy tickets on the line for the locations. What shocked me most is - the tower is empty. Well, that's about it... Don't forget to have fun.

Piazza della Cisterna is a triangular plaza located in the heart of San Gimignano, Italy. The square is named for its 13th-century cistern, which still stands today. The plaza is surrounded by stately medieval buildings and attracts tourists due to its beauty and history.
Beautiful medieval square, when entering it you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. It had a well, Ice cream shops, souvenir shops etc. In the afternoon it can get busy, but in the morning or evening it’s less busy and also more beautiful.

It truly is a magical place to see.

Main entrance to the town. Parking is at a premium with a number parking areas scattered outside town. This should be your warning you are stepping into a tourist honey trap.
Yes, it is full of beautiful buildings, but it is also packed with tourists and all the shops to support them.
I visited in Autumn and it was still heaving in the late afternoon. Try and visit out of season to see it's true beauty. Or visit one of the less well known towns.

Once we step inside the city walls in San Gimignano, we feel like we have stepped into another time, a few centuries back. It’s not just buildings that touch the clouds that are the only thing worth seeing in San Gimignano. Although the towers are what sets the city apart from others, many small charming Tuscan places. There are also countless beautiful churches, valuable works of art, palaces, beautiful narrow streets and squares. One of them is Piazza della Cisterna (Cistern Square). In earlier times, the Piazza della Cisterna was the centre of all public performances, tournaments and festivals that were held in the city. It was also the main marketplace of the people. Its design is from the 13th century and it is named after the Cisterna (Water Cistern) that is still present amid the piazza today. Connected to the town’s largest square, Piazza del Duomo through an open passage, this piazza is entirely paved with brick and is surrounded on all sides by houses and towers from the Medieval Era. The beauty and charm of this square is created by the beautiful atmosphere and scenery with l’arco dei Becci (Arc of Becci), which is the gate of the ancient city of San Gimignano. The Torri dei Becci (Tower of Becci) is on the left and the Torri dei Cugnanesi (Tower of Cugnanesi) is on the right side of this arc. Among these is the Palazzo Razzi, characterized by its mullion windows. The adjacent Casa Salvestrini is a former hospital that was converted into a hotel. Dine at the hotel’s café patio or upper floor restaurant, which affords views across Tuscany’s majestic countryside. Overlooking the north side of the square we can see Devil's Tower. Legend states that, after a trip, the tower’s proprietor noticed that its height had increased. He accredited the occurrence to a diabolical intervention and the tower subsequently took on its name. The square, along with Piazza Duomo, is a venue for various fairs which are held as part of festivals in honor of saints, including St. Fina, the city’s patron saint.

The fortress walls of Lucca are a popular location for biking and walking. The walls are twelve metres high and four kilometers long, and feature a tree-lined footpath that looks down on the city's centro storico.
My favourite part of our visit to Lucca was the Mura di Lucca. An absolutely brilliant use of the city wall by having a multipurpose recreational trail on top of the wall! Paved for walking and wheeling, the many ramps give ready access for users. The bulwarks of the wall have parks, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Several museums and the Botanical gardens are accessed from the trail. The Mura also has several gates as well as pedestrian tunnels.
Stunning views of the hills surrounding Lucca.
Worth a saunter!

You cannot come to Lucca without experiencing the walls. Whether you pass through one of the six large Ports that allow pedestrian and car traffic or one of the smaller ports that are pedestrian only, this magnificent wall is truly a sight to see. Besides being used to separate the centro from the rest of Lucca, it has walking paths on the top, restaurants, a hospitality center for those walking the via Francigena, and the original places for the soldiers that used to patrol these walls. There is a lot of history here.
In addition, there are places to picnic, playgrounds, and art installations. On warmer days there will be musicians playing and artists drawing or painting the sights around them.
Or, you can just walk along and enjoy the sights or take a bike ride down the wide avenue that allows you to walk all the way around the city in a contiguous loop.

We spent a couple of hours cycling around the walls of Lucca today. There are numerous bike hire places around Lucca both inside the walls and outside. We hired from Fast and Furious which is outside the walls.
The circuit is about 4km around and very flat apart from the ramps up onto the walls which aren't very steep, but you can walk the bikes up if you need to.
There are wide, tree lined paths which have people walking, jogging and cycling on them. On a weekday like today in September they were busy and it was a very relaxing way to get in some gentle exercise. Most of the cyclists are very relaxed and not whizzing around aggressively.

The funicular was a classic old model that, as one would expect, moved real slowly. The view of the valley and the sunset as you are going up is superb. The temp was a tad cold but I would still recommend standing on the outside the back of the funicular to get a picture without being obstructed by the glass in the window for a very fine photo.
As for the old town of Montecatini, nothing that great. Most of the restaurants are overly priced and the service is just average at the one pizza place we went to. Not worth the ticket of the funicular if you are just going for dinner at a restaurant.

Montecatini Alto, an ancient hill village overlooking Montecatini Terme, was sketched out in the late 18th century by Grand Duke Leopold of Lorraine. The town is seamlessly integrated into the landscape with a tree-lined avenue connecting the main spa buildings and a funicular built in 1898 providing access to Montecatini Alto. The area offers various accommodation options, from stylish Art Nouveau hotels to simple alberghi.
Visit Azienda Agricola Montefioralle Winery, a small family-owned winery located in the medieval village of Montefioralle in the Chianti region. This charming winery produces only 10,000 bottles of wine annually, making it one of the smallest Chianti classico producers.
This is a lovely family owned and operated vineyard. Their Chianti was the best Chianti we had while our stay in Italy. This is a small quaint vineyard with a sweet little history. The food provided with the wine was very nice as well as the view of Montefioralle. It was worth taking a little extra time to visit to little village to us. I would recommend parking in the parking provided by the vineyard and walk to the village from the parking lot as there is limited parking in the village. We found a cafe open and enjoyed splitting a delicious panni while taking in the quaintness of the village. We enjoyed the experience.

Good wine tasting. There is parking across the street for a fee with very easy access to the winery. The view from the outdoor seating area was very nice and relaxing. The man working there was very friendly and accommodated up for a tasting even though we were a bit later than our scheduled time. The wine was a reasonable price and tasted good. The Vin Santo was an interesting sweet wine that I would recommend. 4 tastings and light snacks for 25€ a person.
I would return here.

We were so looking forward to this wine tasting and visit. We have visited many wine cellers in several countries and this is the only time that we felt the lack of interest from the person providing the `tour`. In 15mins the young lady managed to quicly explain everything about the bodega and wines. We then went inside, sat at a table and were given a small plate of different `bites´. No explanation as to what it was but frankly we noticed a line of plates sat on the kitchen table on arrival and it was inedible. We sampled 3 different chianti classic wines plus a vin sant (sweet wine). Sadly the lady poured the wine, explained `how it would be better in a few years`and disappeared downstairs to chat to her husband whilst we sipped the wine.
Below average wines. Very below average interest. Very poor and disappointing and frustrating experience. Certainly would not recommend. We almost got up and left after the 2nd wine but felt that would be rude so we sat through it.

I wanted to love this place - after all it's a small family-run winery with spectacular views and they have veen very flexible with us during the booking process and constant changes in our schedule. However, I cannot deny that I felt a lack of passion of the tour guide the whole time we were there. The tour itself lasted ~10 minutes (for us as well as the group after us) followed by a wine tasting where the owners daughter poured the wine, showed us the maturity curve of the wine and went inside for 10 minutes. This process was repeated for the remaining wines to taste. The wines were nice but honestly in my opinion not the best value for money (what I assume is because of the very small wine production). I honestly must say that every other winery I went to in Tuscany left a much better impression on me. A real shame!

Lovely vineyard tour + dinner! While researching for a large family trip to Tuscany we came upon this small family vineyard. My correspondance with Lorenzo, the owner was warm and accommodating & when the dilemma of dinner arose he suggested his neighbors Gian Luca & Monica prepare a meal & combine his wine pairings! After an informative tour of the small family vineyard we strolled over to the home of the Cook. Oh my - this did not disappoint!!! The collaboration between Gian Luca & Monica’s culinary skills & Lorenzo’s beautiful wines provided our family an extraordinary evening in Tuscany! I highly recommend this lovely vineyard and a customized tasting with aperitifs for a memorable experience❤️

I truly enjoyed my visit and wine tasting experience at Montefioralle! Alessia was a very pleasant & gracious guide explaining how they make their wine and informing us when it is a good time to enjoy them. I love visiting small, family-owned wineries and learning about their winemaking method. I appreciate that they follow sustainable practices and their wines are certified organic. I’ve done wine tasting previously and my only suggestion, particularly if there are first-timers in wine-tasting in the group, would be to recommend which antipasti served pairs well with the wine being served. Thank you for a wonderful experience and I truly hope that your next harvest will be a good & bountiful one.

I HIGHLY recommend booking the vertical tasting for an elevated and intimate experience - definitely worth it. Lorenzo is so friendly, humble, and is truly passionate about Montefioralle, he answered all of our questions and openly shared his family’s history with the winery, making the afternoon unforgettable. Their homemade snacks were tasty and made the experience that much more special and family oriented. My favourite vintage was the 1998!

I can fully recommend the wine tasting. We had a small tour through the cellar. Very interesting and well explained. Then we tried 4 wines with some food. For the price of the tour the value was very good with sufficient wine to test in our glasses. Not all of the wine was fully our taste. But 2 of them met our taste very well, so we bought some of them. Overall a nice experience with great views from the terrace.

We had a prearranged private tour. The hospitality was amazing! The wine tasting was fabulous and informative. I highly recommend this family run winery for a personal touch!

We had an amazing vertical tasting at this family run winery. We got to try Wine from up to 24 years ago. From the tour, to the explanation, to the food and of course the wines everything was truly delightful. Highly recommend booking a visit. If you’re looking for a good high quality wines with an emphasis on family and tradition this is the place.

It was a very hot day, but we had a wonderful experience in the winery garden. Manila gave us a detailed and passionate explanation of the winemaking process at this small but traditional winery. I will never forget the stately depth of the Chianti Classico Riserva and the amber roundness of the Monteficalle IGT. I would like to visit again someday.

The Uffizi Gallery, a 16th-century building, houses an extensive collection of Primitive and Renaissance paintings and masterpieces. It is one of Europe's largest art museums, conveniently organized by periods. This arrangement allows visitors to witness the profound changes brought about by the Renaissance in artists' perception and portrayal of the world. The artworks transition from static Byzantine representations to more realistic and human depictions, incorporating portraits, allegorical themes, landscapes alongside religious subjects.
Beautiful and interesting gallery filled with paintings, sculptures and beautiful rooms. Takes quite a while to walk through, around 2 hours depending on how long you take on each piece of art work. I would recommend getting the audio guide as it helps you to understand the art in more depth and gives more information than on the plaques. There is also a nice café where you can grab a bite or sit and have a drink. I had a great experience, and definitely recommend!

This is a very nice museum with some quite amazing pieces of art. It is very busy but a visit is highly recommended. Most of the collection is sculptures from first and second centuries, as well as paintings and altarpiece from the 1500 and 1600’s. The building itself is also extensive decorated.

It's famous for a reason! Beautiful museum/gallery! Would highly recommend for any art or history lovers. Both the art and statues are breath taking.
The rooms themselves are also stunning with every ceiling beautifully painted. Also the lay out of the museum is very easy to follow.

One of the most beautiful places and works of art I’ve ever seen! My advice is buying the tickets a few days before you visit the place. Be prepared for a lot of walking and spending at least 3-4 hours if you want to see most of the things in the gallery. I liked the gallery shop- it’s very big and you can find a lot of interesting items.

Wow! 3km walk of paintings. The Botticelli’s are sublime. Book ahead. Go early. Nice surprise to see Bill Viola’s self portrait in the self portrait gallery. The cafe is brilliant - amazing view and top quality coffee and food.

One of the great art museums of the world. Crowded, even when I went early on a Monday morning in late October. But let the tour groups pass you by, as they are led through, and enjoy an amazing collection of world famous pictures. Take time to admire the building too, it is fantastic in its own way. I hardly scratched the surface despite spending all morning there.

In a word, magnificent. A wonderfully impressive collection. I strongly recommend that you buy your ticket online, after purchasing it online, you print the ticket at gate number 3. We spent 3 and a half hours, we were very tired towards the end. If you have a time definitely you can spend 1 entire day. Fortunately, there are many places where you can sit. You can also take water (max 0.5 ml bottle is allowed) and some snacks with you. ( my suggestion)There is a cafe with a beautiful view , you can spend time there too.

Visiting the Uffizi Gallery was an unforgettable experience! This gallery is truly one of the best I've ever visited, showcasing an incredible collection of masterpieces that span centuries of art history. The layout of the gallery allows for an intimate viewing of each piece, providing a unique perspective on the works of legendary artists. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous, enhancing the overall experience. If you're a lover of art, the Uffizi Gallery is a must-visit destination in Florence. Highly recommend!

A must see museum, top 3 in Europe. I enjoyed a lot the Gallery, the great hall, especially the sealings, which they manage to transform them in pieces of art. For me, it was the best part of it, along with the views. You will find a variety of artists, paintings, sculptures, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Caravaggio. Reserve your ticket in advance, 20 euro and you pay 4 euros for the reservation.

Probably the best collection of art / paintings that we would have ever seen, each better than the other! It's worth visiting Florence just for Uffizi. When you read about them (or better use the audio guide) these paintings also help us get a perspective on the life and style, economy of people in the era in which they were painted.
Few tips for people visiting:
1. Book tickets in advance. Do take the audio guide, it'll give you the details, history and background of the paintings and make your trip exponentially pleasurable.
2. If you aren't an art lover then too budget atleast 5 hours as you'll become a lover when you are here.
3. Best to visit first thing in the morning, as they open. the crowds are a shade lesser than during mid day. Ideally go on a weekday.
4. Be prepared that it's going to be tiring, standing and moving slowly through the day, so wear the most comfortable footwear and dress.
5. Don't forget to carry your camera and water bottle. Don't need anything else as it becomes a liability, lugging it around the whole day.

The Uffizi museum, is very impressive. You get many of the famous masterpieces and the setting with the art on the vaulted ceilings is equally impressive. It’s simply a must see when in Florence. Book tickets in advance, and show up on the appropriate time!

This is our third visit to this iconic gallery and it just gets more enjoyable every time we go. We ticketed using the Firenze pass online and called to reserve a time slot. Pretty simple not too complicated. Still a pretty decent line where there used to be skip the line, and a pretty extensive metal detector run before you get in. The gallery is as wonderful as ever with a broad selection of painting and sculpture. The more well-known items are now kind of set in different spaces of their easier to find without so much searching. I found the modern art additions to the gallery that were plugged in among the classics to be really annoying. Something that resembles a red Japanese octopus with suspended from the ceiling of the red room. Almost sacrilege.

Excellent art gallery! You will need to queue up to buy a ticket at the place where you bought a ticket before you can enter. The museum is very large and has a lot of spectacular statues and famous paintings...... I even felt like I could spend a whole day in the Uffizi Gallery :D

Really enjoyed this gallery! The pieces are nice and I really appreciated how organized it was. Entry was really smooth and there are arrows everywhere telling you which direction to go.
After some overly confusing lines in Europe for other attractions, this really was a breath of fresh air.
I would highly recommend visiting and enjoying all that it has to offer.
Google also keeps flagging me for nudity in literal paintings and sculptures, so hopefully this doesn’t get taken down too. Feel like we’re mature enough to not care much about stuff like that

Brilliant insight into italian masterpieces and works of art. Enter and wonder about the everlasting. It's a must-visit for designers of all kinds.
For a better visit to the gallery, plan to spend 3-4 hours or even more there. Don’t be short on time, really! Our trip was great, but we ran out of time to be in awe, sit and relax.

Excellent gallery and smooth experience.
Those who better understand art will definitely appreciate it more than I did.
The place is relatively big, will take 2-4 hours at least, depending on how much you spend by the art pieces.
The place is filled with sculptures and amazing historic paintings.
The architecture is very beautiful.
Enjoyed my visit.
Would definitely recommend it to others.

First off, use Rick Steve’s free Audio Tour for this museum. Don’t pay for the audio tour from the museum. It’s not as good.
Uffizi is definitely a must do in Florence. My favorite exhibit was from Michelangelo. Botticelli was also very good too. Honestly everything there was amazing. You can spend an entire day here if you wanted to.

So wonderful place with a huge history and collection of Italian art. It is better to buy tickets in advance and not stand in a huge queue at the entrance.
Nice restaurant at the rooftop.
There were a lot of people, I advise you to come to the opening of the museum.

Unbelievably good gallery. Allow 4-5 hours to see it properly. It's busy, so take your time and be patient with the tours. They come in waves, so ride them out and you'll see everything. Also do enjoy the cafe, its a great stopping point to rest your feet halfway around, and the best location in Florence for a coffee!

What is necessary to say about this Museum - Gli Uffizi - which is one of the best in the world. Moreover if you are a fan of Renaissance but not only. You can also see many Gothic and Proto-Renaissance paintings with Cimabue, Giotto...
A pure wonder of 800 years of age.
Buy the ticket the day before to avoid the queue at the entrance.
Many options via the official site.

TLDR: love the layout of the museum and lots of things to see
I like the layout of the museum and how it has a main hallway and then it splits off into rooms of artists/sculptors on the sides so that if you want to see a specific room, you can and if not, you can continue along the main hallway. If you go into the specific rooms, it will spit you back out into the hallway a majority of the time so you don’t have to backtrack

This is one of the nicest if not the nicest art gallery you will ever visit in your life. You will see works of art here by the greatest artists, sculptors and painters of all time. If you visit Florence and don’t see the Uffizi Art Gallery, you really didn’t visit Florence. I really enjoyed my time spent here, go very early in the morning otherwise you might not get in. It’s extremely busy and always very packed. I would definitely recommend visiting this gallery when in Florence.

The Uffizi Gallery is a must-see for anyone visiting Florence. Seeing the art by Botticelli, Raphael, etc in person is so much better than seeing it in a book. I strongly recommend buying a skip the line ticket ahead of time. If you can, it is well worth it to buy a skip the line tour early in the morning so you can get in before the crowds arrive. By 10 am I felt like I could hardly move for all the people, but I had gone in with a guide and one other couple at 8:15 am and there was hardly anyone inside. The Uffizi also offers wonderful views from the upper floor and a chance to see a piece of the Medici corridor that stretches from the Pitti Palace through the Uffizi. When the crowds got too thick, I went to the cafe for lunch and had a delightful lunch on the outdoor terrace, served by friendly, welcoming staff. There is an elevator if you're not a stair climber, but if you can, the stairs give you a graphic feel for how high each floor level is.

I booked my ticket with a tour group — I had a hosted entrance and guided tour. Absolutely worth the money! Book ahead.
But such a tremendous gallery with Renaissance art work. Could spend days, literately, here.

The most organized art experience I've had. Not as big as Louvre, so you can take a good tour with kids in 2.5h. *** Advice take at least one audio guide and do your homework (have at least 5 pieces that interest you on hand). Workers from the museum are very helpful and are well spread throughout the rooms. Here you're able to compare different artist from the same period and enjoy the evolution of art according to time. This gave me the chance to explain how and why this happened to my kids. I also saw a lot of interest and reflexion in my teenager. Totally recommend this stroll through history of art 🎨👍

Some of the most iconic paintings are located here. A huge and stunning art gallery, be sure to a lot enough time as there’s plenty to see. Tickets are required to enter, but can easily be purchased on site.
Briana Villarreal — Google review
This is a huge gallery with a fine collection of sculpture from the beginning of the millennium of the Roman Empire and paintings from 1500-1700. Michelangelo, Dürer, Raphael and others. The entire top floor has an exhibition of these works. The works are placed in the corridor-gallery and in the rooms of the museum. This is such a large amount of information and contemplation that by the end of the viewing you may have a headache from the accumulation of so many art treasures in one room. Along the length of the entire corridor-gallery of the upper floor of the museum where the exhibition is located, the ceiling is painted with beautiful scenes (Renaissance or Renaissance, I'm not sure the name of the style) the ceiling is so beautiful that you could come to look at it only))))))
The Piazzale Michelangelo, a 19th-century square, provides panoramic views of Florence and houses a bronze replica of Michelangelo's David. Often misspelled as Piazzale Michelangelo, this terrace is a popular stop for tour buses and offers iconic postcard shots of the cathedral. To avoid crowds, it is best to visit in late afternoon or early evening, especially during busy tourist seasons.
The most well-known spot to have a view over Firenze. Very busy some times of the day and weekends, get ready for a very touristy place, still the views are totally worth going up there.

The best place to get a truly panoramic view of Florence's skyline. The walk uphill to the square could be quite taxing specially on a hot summer day so try to time it in the early morning or in the late afternoon. I chose the afternoon to coincided the climb with the sunset over the River Arno.

A fantastic vantage point that offers a breathtaking view of Florence cityscape and its surrounding area. I highly recommend going at sunset! The crowd cycles through pretty quickly so you won't have much trouble finding a spot to take pictures. There isn't much parking space, so I recommend walking. Florence is a small city so it should be a short walk.

Piazzale Michelangelo is a very spacious plaza full of people. There is a replica of David in the middle that is supposed to be an attraction, but then you see the view. This is probably the best place to see an overview of Florence. At sunrise and sunset you'll be able to admire Florence in all its twilight beauty. The sun reflects off the river, the bascillica lights up, and the town flickers alive, all in view from this Piazzale.

Absolutely gorgeous view of Florence especially at sunset but be sure to get there early because crowds form early on. Just a little bit of walk from town center but definitely worth it. We spent a week in Florence and decided on the last night to go to the Piazzale Michelangelo. Beautiful views of Florence and beyond, you can see the mountains in the background. It's a must place to visit to see the sunset over Florence.
It wasn't very busy. There was plenty of room to move around and see the few stalls that are selling food and drinks, and the usual clothing etc.
There is a restaurant which we did not go to but it looked pretty good.
We got a panini and a bottle of presecco and spent a good 3 hours up there... we loved it !!

If you come to Florence the Piazzale Michelangelo is a must see at sun down.
The view of Florence from here is spectacular. When the sun sets behind the mountains the sky looks as if it was touched by the great painters of the Renaissance.
When we came it was very busy, so expect a crowd on a nice evening. There was live music, which made the experience magical (not that it needed to be more magical already.)
The climb up was not too bad, but you can easily drive. There looks to be plenty of parking. You can buy drinks and snacks here as well. Enjoy!

I'll never travel to Bologna without this trip planner again
The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, a renowned 1200s landmark, is characterized by its red-tiled dome, colored marble facade, and elegant Giotto tower. Situated in the heart of Florence at Piazza del Duomo, it serves as the city's main church and boasts remarkable architectural features. The prominent dome, designed by the brilliant architect Filippo Brunelleschi, remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.
Amazing building. It's so huge and incredible. Very nice historic cathedral. I haven't never before seen church like this. Very powerful place. I strongly recommend visits it. Only the are around 145 stairs steps to go to the top of tower.
Heivi Herne — Google review
I don't like tour groups at all, but this is one of the few things I highly recommend joining a tour group for this. You DEFINITELY need to schedule in advance, or you'll be waiting for hours. If you don't have skip the line or a tour group, you'll probably still be waiting. A tour is one of the best ways to guarantee you'll get into the dome, which is absolutely worth it. The dome is a genuine masterpiece. The tower is a separate thing, and you'll have to climb that to really get the best views of the outside of the dome.
Jake H?hn — Google review
Truly the most beautiful building I've ever seen. Its majesty almost brought me to tears. I came to Florence on two separate occasions and it was impressive both times. I didn't even need to go inside (though I hear inside is beautiful as well). The amount of detail and beauty was enough for me.

Excellent experience. Highly recommend the private (opening the Duomo) tour we did. You and a small group get to open the church first thing in the morning, and climb to the top before anyone else! You then get a small tour and breakfast afterwards. Wonderful time!
Michael Theodore Smykla — Google review
Duomo is a must-see for anyone visiting Florence. It is a truly awe-inspiring building, and it is a testament to the skill and ingenuity of the Renaissance architects. The massive dome is simply breathtaking. It is hard to believe that it was built over 600 years ago.
The intricate carvings and sculptures on the exterior of the cathedral are amazing. There is so much detail to see, and it is all so beautifully done. The stained glass windows in the interior of the cathedral are also stunning. They cast a warm and inviting light on the space, and they create a truly magical atmosphere.
The overall design of the cathedral is simply awe-inspiring. It is a truly unique and innovative building that is unlike anything else I have ever seen.
Sudhir Agir — Google review
Amazing masterpiece. Must see from all angels. I'm recommending buying tickets online way in advance, especially in high season. Don't forget to leave your backpacks in a luggage storage behind the cathedral. They are not allowed inside, and it's free with valid tickets. If you have a ticket, you don't have to stay in that huge queue to enter Cathedral. You enter from a side to enter Baptistery, and then you can stay inside the Cathedral and enjoy it as much as you want.
Yuliya Myan — Google review
The true beauty of the Cathedral is in both it's impressive size and the elaborate and truly sublime exterior decoration made of marble and brick.
While entry to the Cathedral is free, the line to enter is very, very long.
The Cathedral is very plain inside with the exception of the ornate and exquisite marble patterns on the floor and beautifully painted dome.
You can climb to the top of the dome with a separate ticket, and we tried to book 4 days out and it was sold out. So my best advice is plan your trip in advance.
Samantha Platt — Google review
This was the most impressive building I had ever been inside of. The architecture is immaculate. The interior painting is beyond elegant. The view from the top is beautiful on a clear day. Take the guided terrace tour for look at some of the less seen sections of the Cathedral. I would visit this building every time I visit Florence.
Michael Barton — Google review
Amazing building. Italy’s cathedrals never cease to impress me. Every time I go near it I am in awe of its beauty. I would recommend to buy a ticket to climb the tower. With the tower, you’ll still get the view of the Duomo, but perhaps without the day long queues. The morning time is much easier in terms of crowds than evening times. Even at midnight the crowd never stops. Definitely go here when you get the chance!
Ralph N — Google review
You can buy combined tickets on the spot to most of the attractions, but expect the climb to the Dome to be sold out. A timeslot for that needs to be reserved in advance. However, I enjoyed the view from the tower just the same (the difference between the tower's and dome's heights is somewhere around 50 steps, so no big deal!). Also important to note that the Cathedral itself is closed on Sundays, I wasn't aware of this. But if you buy the combined ticket that also includes the visit to the crypt underneath the cathedral, the entrance is through the cathedral so you'll still get a glimpse of it from the inside, even if you are not allowed to walk around and explore.
Eszter Barabas — Google review
Amazing cathedral both inside and out. Fantastic marble exterior and wonderful and scary frescoes inside. Google up the history behind the clock and how they kept time in relation to the number of hours left in the day, and it still works.
David Nicholas — Google review
Just magnificent! Stunningly beautiful! Just go. It is advertised as free and you can enter the primary cathedral for free, but to climb the dome and other things like the museum is 30 euros per person and you get an assigned time slot so plan ahead. The view of the city is worth the climb so plan ahead.

Amazing / astonishing creation by designer Brunelleschi. This is one of the most beautiful churches I have seen. The external facing is just amazing.
Honestly, when you go in, it actually is a bit of surprise as this simply does not match the exterior glory. However, that said, the top of the dome is still beautifully decorated with amazing painting presenting the "Last judgement".
Being there and going around this huge building is a special experience...

A stunning feat of architecture. This is the cathedral of all cathedrals, one to rival the Vatican itself. Florence is fairly small so you'll be likely to see this giant multiple times as you're touring the city. You can enter the cathedral for free though you have to stand in a line for ~40 minutes. In my honest opinion there are many cathedrals, churches, and basilicas with more impressive interiors so I'd recommend spending your time somewhere else, especially if you'll be visiting Rome as well.

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Florence. We wandered around the outside of the building, but the line-up was too long, so we did not go in. It is free to enter. The outside is magnificent. The artwork and decoration of the facade is intricate and brilliant.

Other than the long queue,( buy tickets in advance) this is one of the most impressive building s I have been in. Fantastic interior and the sights from the top over the city are out of this world. The steps up are not for the faint hearted, but you can stop about half way and still go around the outside and get a good view.

Very nice cathedral, the exterior is very beautiful and nicely lit up at night. Inside is okay, the ceiling is very nicely decorated and you can also get a ticket to visit the roof top and the museum as well. You can also check out the chapel, I enjoyed my time here and would recommend checking it out when in Florence.

An amazing experience, seeing the cathedral and climbing up to see the city of Florence from the top of the dome. It’s approximately 450 steps to get to the top but it’s really not that bad if you are reasonably healthy.

Stunning cathedral. The sheer size of the cathedral is really something that overwhelms everyone when they see it for the first time. Also all the marble used in the cathedral is beautiful, it really creates a stunning impression. The inside is conservative, is not something that blows you away with lots of ornaments or gold or something fancy, but the magnitude of everything and the old art piece and paintings are really impressive.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, also known as the Florence Cathedral, is a magnificent masterpiece that truly deserves a 5-star rating. From its awe-inspiring architecture to its rich history and cultural significance, every aspect of this cathedral leaves visitors in awe.
The exterior of the cathedral is a marvel of Gothic and Renaissance design, with its iconic dome dominating the skyline of Florence. The intricate details of the facade, including sculptures, reliefs, and ornate decorations, showcase the skill and artistry of the craftsmen who worked on it.
Stepping inside, visitors are greeted by a vast and majestic interior adorned with stunning frescoes, intricate stained glass windows, and impressive artworks. The sense of grandeur and spirituality permeates every corner of the cathedral, creating a profound and unforgettable experience for all who enter.
One of the highlights of the cathedral is undoubtedly its magnificent dome, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. The engineering marvel of its time, the dome's construction is a testament to human ingenuity and architectural genius. Climbing to the top of the dome offers breathtaking panoramic views of Florence, rewarding visitors with a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The cathedral's historical significance as a symbol of Florence's cultural and religious heritage further enhances its appeal. It stands as a testament to the city's rich history, artistic achievements, and enduring legacy.
In summary, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is a must-visit attraction that combines stunning architecture, artistic treasures, and historical importance. It earns a well-deserved 5-star rating for its beauty, cultural significance, and the unforgettable experience it provides to all who visit.

The cathedral's intricate facade, with its blend of green, white, and pink marble, captivates the eye from the moment you approach. The enormous dome, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, dominates the skyline and invites you to admire its genius engineering and panoramic views of Florence.
Inside, the vast nave and beautiful frescoes create a serene and awe-inspiring atmosphere. The detailed mosaics and stained glass windows add to the cathedral's elegance and grandeur. Don't miss Giorgio Vasari's frescoes on the dome's interior, which depict the Last Judgment in vivid, dramatic colors.
Climbing to the top of the dome is highly recommended for breathtaking views of the city, but be prepared for a steep and narrow climb.

One of the most beautiful and imposing cathedrals I have ever seen. The architecture, scheme of colours, and the size of the Duomo is so impressive. The structure can be seen from several streets and vantage points around the city of Florence but when you are close-up, the building looks enormous.
It is a busy attraction all year round as the city attracts fairly good weather.

A Masterpiece of Renaissance Architecture: The Duomo of Florence**
The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, crafted by the visionary Brunelleschi, stands as one of the most stunning churches ever witnessed. Its exterior is a marvel, adorned with an exquisite facade that captivates the eye and the imagination.
As one steps inside, there's a moment of surprise; the interior's simplicity contrasts sharply with the elaborate exterior. Yet, this only adds to the cathedral's mystique. Ascending to the dome's apex, you are greeted by the glorious "Last Judgement" painting, a testament to the artistic prowess of the era.
Exploring this colossal edifice is an extraordinary journey, offering a unique glimpse into the soul of Florence and the brilliance of its artistic legacy.
Rapy Ahmed — Google review
Not much can I add...it's a definite must-see, spend the 15E, you won't regret the lines, the waiting, the crowds. The building is awesome, oddly more so from the outside than inside. The color, the geometry, the mass of stone, the cracks. It shows its age but shows it well. Impressive everywhere. The cupola is way up there, hard to see all the detailed artwork and depictions. There are people like ants walking around the dome. If you dare, go for it, the line is pretty short (11am weekday, March). One way in and up, one way down and out.
The folks working there, security, answering questions, giving directions, are amazingly friendly given the great hoards of people they have to put up with. The timed entry is QR code on your phone, or printed, tickets online, all works flawlessly. The timed entry works well, I suppose the price is enough to keep crowds down.

The Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore is absolutely incredible! The first time I saw it, I was literally blown away by its beauty.
One of the most beautiful and imposing cathedrals I have ever seen.
The facade adorned with colorful marble, the intricate details of sculptures and reliefs.
The iconic Dome towering over the city's skyline, it's just impressive and stunning.
The interior is equally impressive, with its vast spaces, magnificent frescoes, and serene spiritual atmosphere.
It's truly a must-see for anyone visiting Florence, and it's definitely recommend to visit.
Free to enter just need to wait in queue, to see basement ticket needed.
Explore the renowned Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Santa Croce, immersing yourself in the breathtaking architecture and rich historical sites that capture the essence of Florence. Experience a perfect blend of sightseeing and culinary adventures, gaining a deeper understanding of the city's culture and food scene.
The Accademia Gallery in Florence is a renowned art museum that dates back to the 1780s. Originally established as an educational institution for students at the Academy of Fine Arts, it has become synonymous with Michelangelo's famous statue of David. This colossal marble sculpture, standing at five meters tall, is considered one of the world's most iconic and impressive artworks.
This place is most famous for being the home to the famous sculpture of David by Michelangelo. And it is worth all the hype and the excitement. The attention to detail by Michelangelo is second to none. Every tensed muscled is sculpted with extraordinary accuracy and precision. He truly was a genius. There are also sculptures and paintings of different artist and are definitely worth the time. The overall gallery is not that big and can be fully explored within an hour
Akmal Akhmadjonov — Google review
The main attraction, as you’ve probably learned, is Michelangelo’s Statue of David, one of the most famous sculptures in the world and much more impressive and inspiring in person than any photo can portray. Aside from David, there is a nice collection of other unfinished Michelangelo sculptures and a nice collection of paintings from the renaissance era. In my opinion, the optional and small musical instrument exhibit, though nice if you have ample time, is not really necessary and can be skipped. The size of the museum overall is perfect and not in any way overwhelming - we did it comfortably in about 2 hours and that was being slow. Highly recommend when in Florence!
Cody P — Google review
Michelangelo’s David is obviously the main attraction and the statue does not disappoint. I would check out the statue, view the rest of the museum and then come back for a few more minutes to take in the sculpture again. It really is impressive.
Sam Goldsmith — Google review
What a great museum to get a feel for the birth of the Renaissance era of the world.
The queue line to get in can be quite long so make sure to buy tickets in advance!
Going through a guided tour like I did made the wait pretty small, but it does come with a premium cost of course.
The Statue of David is quite the thing to see in real life! Highly recommend to stop by while in Florence!
Hernan Hernandez — Google review
The Michaelangelo David statue is much more impressive in person than it looks on the photos. It is huge and the posture and detail is amazing.
Apart from the David Sculpture and the odd interesting painting this was the least interesting gallery I've been in. Without the David it would almost be pointless visiting it.
After you have seen the first 500 rooms of paintings of Mary and Baby Jesus in the exact same pose and style, you have seen them all. If you want to see art of this style go to the churches in Rome and see them where they were meant to be seen for free.
Mada Third — Google review
The main attraction is David by Michelangelo. It’s incredible! As you turn the corner and see the SCALE for the first time, the impact it has. It really is a sight to be seen in person wow.
Book in advance, wow I can’t recommend this enough. The queues are insane, book in advance or book a premium ticket to skip the queue. It’s worth every penny.
Amazing selection of art and sculpture additional to David too! The sculptures are so impressive, beautiful curation.
Sarah Hogan — Google review
A must see when in Florence. This is where you go to see Michelangelo’s original Statue of David (along with other amazing artwork).
The lineup tends to be long, and needs to be booked well in advance. If you don’t have tickets available, I highly recommend arriving an hour before they open the doors. If you don’t, you’ll be stuck in line for up to 2 hours (during peak season).
vartan bilawejian — Google review
The Statue of David is beautiful. It was larger than I thought it would be and the level of detail is insane! There are huge crowds though. Be prepared for that. Also, the slots to view the exhibits are timed. Make sure you prebook your tickets or be prepared to take whatever they have. One final note, see more than David, seeing the other exhibits. Seeing the older instruments were awesome to me as a musician.
Bryce Thomas — Google review
It is everything you would expect from an art museum. Gorgeous prices of work. Ample space to walk around even if it's busy. Timed tickets helps I think. Book in advance if you can.
David was a magical sight. Something that can't be captured on film. A must when in Florence!
Francois du Toit — Google review
Hey, it’s David! The only and most famous sculpture in the world. What more to say? Highly recommend going during extended evening hours in the summer: it’s cooler and fewer people too. We were able to enjoy the masterpiece without the crazy crowds.
Definitely buy tickets in advance.
Kenny S — Google review
From across the road at #51 you can pick up tickets on the day, 17£. Go early to avoid most tourist groups. Plenty of religious iconography from 1300s-1800s. The David is in the main hall, well situated and there's seating to gaze at his behind. After the gift shop take a left to get the lift to the 1st floor, not much up there though. We spent an hour inside.
Zerah — Google review
The gallery itself is beautiful and quite small, going through can take anything from 1 - 4 hours depending on how much you like to read about each painting and sculpture.
For me it was about 1 and a half hour because all paintings are Christian-themed, which doesn't mean much to me, so I just quickly went through them however the sculptures really caught my eye. Each sculpture, and painting, has a description which tells a quick story about about whom it was ordered and who made it. They also show how the plaster copies are made.
The queue can be very random. We haven't bought any reservation, which I recommend if you hate unnecessary wait times and can get a reservation for a good price (order at least a week ahead),and so we had to join the slowest queue. Thankfully we have waited only something over an hour to get in (joined 15:30, got in 16:50, with about 30-40 people in front of us). They usually let a group of 10 people in, sometimes in 10 minute intervals and sometimes it takes 30 minutes. Once you get in there is a queue for security and then a queue for actually buying the tickets, which is more crowded and even less organized. The gallery closes entrance in 18:20 and closes as a whole in 18:50.
I think it is worth the wait if you are not waiting for more than 2 hours. For calculating wait time you have to first wait for at least 30 minutes to see how the staff treats the queues. Some let in solely the reserved queue (which is expected) some make it more balanced. Highly recommend freeing at least 3 hours for Academia Gallery.
Matyáš Dušek — Google review
You may wait a while, even with skip the line tickets, but of course it is worth it! Once you get inside, you will forget all about the wait as you immerse yourself in the incredible art. Of course, David is amazing! However there is so much more to see, so be sure to explore everything before you leave.
Alicia Whitaker — Google review
The queue was overwhelming.
Imagine 2000plus people waiting to go inside. I went in just to see the status of David. There are other paintings and statues. Medici musical instrument collection is also there. Audio guide is 6euros, and you have to deposit an id of yours till you return the audio set. This is just a one time visit for me.

Amazing place to visit although it is recommended to avoid going on Tuesdays and during high season. The most famous spot in it is the "David" by Michaelangelo. It will be overcrowded around the artwork, better to go as early as possible in the morning. Check out their webpage in case you're going in groups!
Kero Veros — Google review
Yes there is the statue of David, but there is a lot of important work here from Michaelangelo and other artists. You can view the progression of Michaelangelo's work from earlier sculpture he began to one of his masterpieces. By all means, book a tour for early access!
Carlton Wyatt — Google review
Is this the best museum in the world? Maybe... David is so captivating, history, the detail, the scale and size. Its site is very well done, you enter, turn left and boom, there it is. Surrounded by "stone prisoners", human forms emerging from marble, partially exposed. Awesome. Memorable. Better, the management have ample seating nearby, and they move crowds, they insist on quiet (stone floors amplify noise), they watch everybody. The paintings are not behind inches of glass, and barrier (um, Mona Lisa?), they are right in your face. Accessible. You can see the painstaking detail of each stroke, each chip, each nail, precision, care, time, effort (and money).
The adjoining rooms of paintings and statues (all of ancient rich people and their families, all looking better than reality no doubt) are worth exploration as well. The music room is not do great, as are several smaller rooms. Paintings faded, dark, small and almost boring. But several rooms have big, bright awesome paintings (the original abuse of Sadine women room is fantastic).
Several rooms have padded seats, and videos. WC on ground floor by exit, down the stairs...could be bigger (especially women), but are clean and bright.
Well done to the folks running this museum. Well worth the 20E pp you pay.

During my recent visit to the Accademia Gallery, I found the experience to be overall satisfactory. The collection of art, including Michelangelo's iconic David, was impressive. The museum layout allowed for a smooth flow through the exhibits, and the information provided about the artworks was informative. However, the crowd and limited space could be a drawback for some visitors, impacting the overall enjoyment of the visit.

Make sure to plan your visit here on a sunny day as this is an open sky mall. This place is huge!!! and you need few good hours to spend here to find what you want. There are many places to eat and drink (not cheep) and Lots of parking space. Be sure your legs are ready to walk a lot...It is very organized, clean and spacious. You can find almost any store you and brand you like, with some time affordable prices and discount, some are not cheep. Personally, i wouldn't come here especially if it is not on my route to somewhere else (as we did). Feels a bit like an american mall by it's size. Rocchetta Mattei is a restored 19th-century count's castle located in the Bolognese Mountains. Built by Count Cesare Mattei, it boasts a whimsical mix of Moorish, medieval, and Italian architectural styles. Located in the outskirts of the metropolitan city of Bologna in the little town of Riola. Amazing views and a truly magnificent structure ritch with history and interesting backstories about it's founder and tenet. A place not to miss if you happen to have some time on your hands and want to explore places around Bologna. Easily accessible by train or by car. If you happen to chose the train you can easily get one from Bologna Central station, you then need to get off at Riola station from which the Rocchetta is just a few minutes by foot up a hill (not too steep).

A beautiful, masmarising palazzo. The 4/5 are due to visits enabled only with a tourguide and tickets must be booked weeks prior. The info given on the tour was interesting and thorough, with that said, it was laconic and a bit too short (1 h) and very strictly timed in order to avoid laps with other groups.. therfore no time was given to immerse in the scenery of each spot, it was stop-losten-go to next stop sort of tour... the experience could have been more powerful and worthwhile with more time and a more interactive, mindful tourguide.

Visually stimulating place in a beautiful locale, with bizarre, fantastical architecture. Be warned though; Unless you want to walk up a long, narrow country road up hill in the sun, you are intirely at the mercy of a bus service that stops about 3 times a day and not at any time that aligners with the castle's admission hours. There is also nowhere to wait once you are up there. Again, the actual place is very interesting but, unless you have a car, you NEED to plan in advance or risk bring stranded in the middle of nowhere.
