Spiaggia Pittulongu is a stunning beach located not far from Olbia. Visitors can enjoy sun beds, snacks, and various water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and surfing in the crystal clear blue waters. While it may be chilly in May, the beach provides an amazing view of incredible colors regardless of the weather.
Just come back from a weeks stay here. It is a beautiful island not very touristy at all. The beaches are stunning with clear water brilliant for snorkelling. It is a little gem of a country, so much to explore. We hired a car and went round the north of the island where there are some stunning beaches. Just a couple of points, people don’t speak much English so it is worth learning a bit of Italian before you go. Our apparently universal travel plugs did not work over here so worth checking you have the correct plugs. Car parks are quite expensive by the beaches 2.50 euros an hour. There are very few sun beds on the beaches, most italians bring their own travel chairs. If you do find sunbeds they are 25 euros for 2 for the day. Food is fantastic, but not much meat on the menu. If you like fish and vegetables like I do you will be very happy

Really beautiful beach not to far from Olbia. We were unlucky with the weather when we went as it was very windy but I can imagine how nice it would be in good weather
Do not make the mistake and walk from Olbia as we did as there are no footpaths, best to get the 04 bus
Sean Cowmey — Google review
Overall the beach itself is ok. Pros is the fact that the sand area is long and spacious giving you plenty of space to lay out; there are a couple of beach clubs to get food and drinks; umbrella and chair rentals; nice swimming sand bar type beach; and public bathrooms available. There is a lifeguard stand to ensure safety of your little ones. Cons … the area itself is not the Sardinia beauty you come to expect from its white sandy beaches considering its in front of a residential area; the locals like to sit really really close to each other and you so be ready for a lot of loud talking around you.
Bruno Hulsmann — Google review
amazing beach! beautiful clear blue waters. had a great time. there’s beach chairs with umbrella available for rent at 20euros at mama beach restaurant (cool restaurant too!). weather’s quite chilly for May by the way 😬
Sophie N. — Google review
If you want a quite and peaceful day, then this beach ain’t for you. Pittulongu is a sandy and family friendly beach close to Olbia city center. Bus number 4 stops 2 min from the beach and takes around 20 min from Olbia. Be aware that it can get pretty crowded on the ride back.
This beach is quite popular so be ready to get there early if you want to snag a good spot. There are also sun beds to rent if you prefer that. A few restaurants along the beach that seemed popular, although we didn’t try them. Many vendors roaming around.
Julia Dian — Google review
Very peaceful big enough. Has enough space to put umbrellas. Has lots of restaurant around if you need food. Free parking and water is clean and not too deep.
Wendler Zacariotto — Google review
Regardless of the weather, the colours are incredible. Also beautiful in summer, clear water and not too crowded during the week.
Andri FR — Google review
Beautiful beach just outside of Olbia. Very easy to get to by car. There are two free car parks but watch out as the car park itself is full of seawater in places and also very uneven. We went in October so the beach was not crowded at all. The beach is very clean. Coarser sand which is then very fine when you get into the sea. Very clear waters and shallow for a good few metres. Lots of fishes swimming near to the shore that you can almost touch them! Beach itself is free - you have to pay for the toilets/showers. A couple of restaurants are along this beach.
Sue To — Google review
Not the nicest- the water was the murkiest we have seen during our holiday so far, and spotted a jellyfish. It was really busy. I wouldn’t go back here. I think perhaps its popularity is down to its proximity to Olbia.
Rosie Gothard — Google review
Spiaggia Pittulongu is a long, sandy beach located in Olbia, Sardinia. It is a popular destination for swimming, sunbathing, and windsurfing. The beach is backed by pine trees and has clear, blue waters.
There are a number of restaurants and bars located near the beach, making it a great place to spend a day in the sun. The beach is also a great place for families with young children, as the water is shallow and calm.
Marcin Siwicki — Google review
This is the first Sardinian beach I saw and it was a nice encounter with the crystal clear water that is typical for Sardinia. The beach has a big opening to the sea and that is why the water could easily become too wavy. The beach is also a bit commercial, but it has two options, both renting a beach chair or putting your own towel on the sand. If you have many days on Costa Smeralda, I recommend visiting it and eating on one of its restaurants which have tasty food. The town/village of Pittulongu offers you the option to see at least 5 very beautiful beaches. If you don’t have so much time on Costa Smeralda, I recommend skipping it and focusing on other small beaches such as Pellicano which is nearby. The bus ASPO no. 4 connects all the beaches, but pay attention to the hours of the bus, because it passes rarely and only until 8 p.m.
Veronica Isailă — Google review
This beach is about 20 minutes from the city center of Olbia, take the bus number 4 ( you can buy a weekly pass for all the busses for 10€ in a Tabachi shop). Busses are always running and not too crowded. The beach is spacious, crowded, but its easy to rent a chair and a umbrella, but carefull, there are two places to rent, the blue chairs are much more cheaper than the brownich ones... crystal clear water, thin sand beach, water around 22 and 24 degrees in July. I recommend a visit, very beautiful beach.
Hugo Cruz — Google review
Large beach with clear water. Sand in the water without rocks or algae. Clean and mesmerizing.
Best beach in Olbia in my opinion.
Minh Quentin NGUYEN — Google review
Crowded, but we managed to find available sun beds and umbrellas - far from bars though. I'd recommend to bring your own umbrella, because it's quite pricey to rent one and more crowded in this area and there is no natural shadow. Otherwise water was unimaginably clear, sandy beach is great and view is amazing, all the facilities needed are available. Also a lot of parking space and good bus connections.
Nives Bednjanic — Google review
Lovely beach. With a bit of sea grass in the entrance but after that amazing cristal blue waters
Romanesque church built out of basalt & limestone in 1116 on the site of a former monastery.
Nice spot by the road. Be careful, the parking lot is just a hole. We couldn't get inside; it was closed. We practically didn't encounter any tourists here. No tickets were needed.
Jakub Vaněček — Google review
Absolutely spectacular building, a really must see place!
Gergely Nagy — Google review
Weird, this church next to the road, with hardly anything else around. No village or town, no preserved abbey buildings. It is quite beautiful on the outside and special on the inside. As if time has not affected it, it has preserved the early romanesque architectural style. It's an easy and nice enough stop if you're in the neighbourhood. Entrance fee 3€.

Iconic Church in Sardinia, we visited in October 23 everyone was impressed by this structure niceand interesting interior, and beside a nice bar / Restaurant for refreshing drink after the visit
Antonio Meloni — Google review
A perfect spot to be visited for its architectural importance style of medieval Europe characterized by semi circular arches
Tony Chahine — Google review
We visited this place on the route from San Teodoro to Alghero and I must admit that it was worth it. It is one of the most important Romanesque monuments on the island. The structure is entirely made of local stone, with a typical Tuscan Romanesque appearance. Visiting for a small fee inside is possible from April to the end of October. Inside of the church is a small souvenir shop, and a cafe near the parking where we can drink coffee and eat a croissant.
Michael Nowak — Google review
The church in itself is wonderful. There is an entrance fee quite high, the tower is not accessible. A very poor description of history inside, you better study it in advance.
Patrik Tůma — Google review
Pretty spot. I liked the gift shop! We didn’t pay the 4 € to get in the church, we just walked around. The architecture is apparently Tuscano-Romano.

Beautiful Romanesque church in the silent valley.
Nice frescos in altar and lovely souvenir shop.
3.5 euros entrance fee
Iman Traveler — Google review
If you plan on entering please be aware that they charge a €3 entrance fee and you must be dressed modestly. I was wearing shorts and a tank top so I explored the outside grounds while my friend looked around inside. No photos were allowed inside but he said that I didn't miss much by not going inside.
Good afternoon, there was one tour at 10, one at 3 pm that day. Nice tour sailors, really helpful. They maybe could give us more details about the region/environment. Really hot on the boat so don’t forget sunscreen and water!!
Lo 19934 (Laurette) — Google review
First time being in a cave, cool place to view. Guide tours in both Italian and English, also possible to ask questions in French. Typical tourist attraction but one definitely worth doing when in Alghero.
yente Van de Wouwer — Google review
Absolutely dissapointing..arrived at the cave and captain said that weather is not good to park the boat. Did not even reach the entrance to see that. At that moment the waves was 0.6-0.8m. They already told while buying tickets that if weather is not good they will just swim around with the boat (like they knew that it will happen from the beginning).
Justas Kynas — Google review
The place is so good and the long boat ride seeing the cliffs was awesome. The boat ride to the caves was 40 minutes and costed 15 euros.
Abirami S — Google review
Really disappointed. We took the boat and they didn't say anything bad about the weather. We arrived to the grotto and they decided to go back because of the waves (I found this OK, but is not like they can't know this before going, specially because it wasn't the first boat today and there was another one on the site dropping off some passengers). The trip per se is nothing amazing, it was fine though, we took the boat because there are not buses on Sunday 😢
Jennifer Andrea Woites — Google review
It's, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful things in sardinia. So worth it!

This is a trip you must do. The Grotte is a wonderful sight to see (price is completely seperate to the boat ride out and my experience is that you are told this) I have seen dolphins on 2 trips out to the Grotte and Steps. The crew on Debora are great. Very welcoming and hospitable. Coffee and refreshments are served on board ☕️

Spiaggia di Maria Pia is a renowned beach that stretches for over a kilometer, boasting of crystal-clear waters and pristine white sand. Initially created 60 years ago to protect the surrounding crops from the sea, it has now transformed into a popular city park frequented by families, children and even those in search of a training center. The beach offers free entry at all times and impresses visitors with its cleanliness whilst providing numerous bars and restaurants.
Relaxing time spent here. Last day in Sardinia - spent on Maria Pia. There are several bars and a good local restaurant. Nice blue water. Perfect
Iulia Manolescu — Google review
Beautiful beach. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available €25 for day. €18 for half day.or just bring your own beach mat. Great snack bar/ restaurant. At times there is a waft of eggs smell from the piles of rotting seagrass. But beautiful white sands and clean crystal clear water. Much nicer than the lido beach which is disappointing.

Very nice beach. Clear water. Only problem that is no public toilet just at bar. And no changing cabinet unfortunately.

Very beautiful beach. It’s clean sea and sand. Not too much people in September. Amazing place. Love it!
Monika Tyszka — Google review
Nice beach with wonderful sand. Very full though during the season. (We were there at the beginning of September) The sunsets were marvelous. The water was colder than on the eastern side of the island but clean. We came bacj a few times since it was close to our rental apartment and since we alway found a (paid) parking spot. Great for families with children.

I decided to use 5 ⭐️ not because of the crystal sea 🌊 but because of location 📍 is really wow 😯
The place where i go, i feel really comfortable and i enjoy 😉 to much!
Very good 👍 people, friendly, lovely and helpful staff 100%
Actually i have bean 3 years ago and nothing changed, maybe prices are a bit higher because of crisis and Covid-19 but the mos important thing is that situation is really good 😌 I come special from Sweden 🇸🇪 to enjoy vocation in Alghero city, but from Alghero with bus 🚌 is not so far 1€ ticket 🎫 from Alghero to Spiaggia di Maria Pia around 10 till 15 minutes depend of traffic.
I can recommend this place to everyone who really want to visit Alghero city, because Spiaggia di Maria Pia is one ☝️ of the best without questions!
Efrem Efre — Google review
I like this beach much more than Lido beach. Lido beach can smell bad if the water is not warm enough (due to the algae). The water at this beach is crystal clear. While swimming we saw some tiny fish 😄. Naturally you can find some pinecones and branches on the beach from the trees but it didn’t bother me.
Laura — Google review
Maria Pia is a lovely beach with white sand, dunes, and turquoise waters near Alghero. We visited the beach when in Alghero for a weekend. As it is close, we waddled there. From the city center, it took us about 40 minutes at a chill pace. My favorite part is the entrance, where you have to go through a pine forest. It's magical. And then the white sand and giant dunes. It is among the best beaches in Sardinia and I agree.
If you don't want to walk there you can take a taxi or the local bus. The beach has all necessities, a bathroom, and bars to refresh.
The beach is also easily accessible with wheelchairs, it has a wooden pathway.
Lifeguin — Google review

This archeological monument is run by two lovely women. The entrance is charged 3€ for adults and 1,5€ for kids. It's worth it, though. The landscape is beautiful and the view is as well. Nuraghe majori itself is an interesting building of Sardinian architecture. In the area are toilets and a little souvenir shop. They give you a paper guide in various languages (even in Czech). From the parking it's a 5 min walk.

Spiaggia di Mugoni, located near Alghero in the Sassari province of Sardinia, is a popular family-friendly snorkeling destination due to its shallow waters and variety of fish that can be observed up close. The sandy beach is shaded by trees and considered one of the most beautiful in the area. There is ample parking available for a fee, and the crystal clear water provides easy access suitable even for small children.
Beautiful, clean and sandy beach 🏖🏝☀️ Gorgeous view 🌅

The beach is really good and long. I would highly recommend you to come early morning, because otherwise you will not have umbrellas and sunbeds to rent. Parking for the whole day for 1 car 12 Eur. Sun beds prices -7/8 Eur per one, umbrella - 7 Eur. The great part I loved were the trees behind the beach that provided you shadow in case you are not passionate about sunbathing. The beach is a sort of Laguna so you are surrounded by the islands hills. We have spent a great day over here.

August 2023 : As packed as it was a year before! Car park is 1 Euro an hour, plenty of facilities including free shower. Bars and restaurants. Rentals of equipment too.
July 2022 : Out of season it must be one of the most beautiful place in Sardegna... In high season, it s absolutely packed! Although not too many people do seem to like the sea 🌊 😂, so you are fine if you avoid the sandy beach! Many small food/drink outlets, a few pedalos and boat rental.
Antoine Becaglia — Google review
This was a nice surprise. Very wide sea 🌊 available for swimming (shallow water till further), emerald green and clean water, lots of beautiful fish in the sea. Clean water and warm and chilled, no waves, just beautiful to enjoy yourself in it.
We paid in June 2023 - 21 eur for front row setup. The gazebo that was taking care of the beach front has also some good basic food (panini and other sandwiches- good prices for a snack). They have shower service 1 eur (you need coin), same for WC.
We chose the Paid parking and it was 1 eur/hour.
I would definitely come back.
Oana Marin — Google review
It is a quiet beach even in August, with a very clean and transparent water. The clear sand is not sticky, despite being very fine powder. Surrounded by a vast space with pines and other trees you can spend a whole day and enjoy sun, shadow, water and sand at your convenience.

It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Area of Alghero. There Is a large parking spot for 1€ /hour. There are few bars and a restaurant, some boat or kite surf rent is also available.

Well worth a swim and a few lazy hours. The water is lovely, more a green colour than blue. In the shoulder season it's also not too crowded and it has koisk and a restaurant which is quite good. Plenty of of parking too, but no showers. You can rent a Deck chair and umbrella and there are also kayaks etc to hire.

One of the most beautiful beaches we visited on Sardinia during our stay in August! Of coarse you should visit La Pelosa, but my family is in love with Mugoni beach. Roccia dell'Elefante, also known as Elephant Rock, is a remarkable natural formation located along state road 134 in the Castelsardo area of Sardinia. This large rust-colored boulder, about four meters high, bears a striking resemblance to a seated elephant. Not only is it an intriguing sight to behold, but it also holds archaeological significance as it contains two ancient Fairy Houses used for burial rituals thousands of years ago.
Definitely recommend it to visit when you're in Sardinia! Couple on minutes drive from Castelsardo. It's free as being on the side of the road. Parking is easy and free we got there around 11am in June '19, some tourist but not crowded. Could comfortably take photos. The view also beautiful as always on this island 🌞😁

It look’s exactly like in the pictures. There were only 3-4 people at the time I went which was at 15:00 so i guess it’s not a very visited site.
It was interesting but kinda looked human made it has like tunnels which looked to perfect to be natural.
You won’t be spending more than 5 minutes there since it’s not really big. If you don’t want to lose 5 minutes you can pass by it by car and you will see everything since it’s right next to the road.

Cala Coticcio, a small sandy beach nestled in a deep cove surrounded by rugged cliffs, is now a well-known destination in the Maddalena Archipelago. In recent years, due to its growing popularity, special rules have been implemented to preserve the area's natural beauty. A permit and local guide are required for access to the beach and surrounding area.
Absolutely stunning beach - cozy sand bay surrounded by stone, some of the stone low peaks usable for jumping into the water. Quite busy by the end of August, lot of lingering boats and people enjoying the beauty and remoteness of the place. One of the nicest beaches in Sardinia.

🏝️Paradise beach , truly stunning (specially in low season when at some point we were just in 4). Once you arrive to the 1st beach, continue for a bit more cross the rocks on the left side; you will be rewarded with an even better little Cala only accessible otherwise by boat/swimming.
🅿️ We left the car parked on one side of the road , at the beginning walk. Easy to find following google maps.
👟The walk from the road is approx 1.65km / 35-40min. It is moderate hike with many up & down hills. It can feel tougher with the heat. Strongly recommend to bring comfortable shoes & enough water.
⛱️ If possible bring an umbrella to cover from the sun as there is not much shadow in the calas. Also it’s a good spot for 🤿
♻️ As there is no trash in the beach /parking please bring back with you all of it to ensure we keep clean the natural park.

PLEASE ASK BEFORE ENTERING HERE!
You need a local guide. Water and shoes. We as locals we have the privilege to walk but if you’re a tourist think again before going to Cala Coticcio.
The best time is spring. I would avoid summer time…too hot and crowded with boats.
Breathtaking trail! The path is prohibited but we did it anyway. Medium/hard difficult!
Take really care of the plants and nature. The Cala is the most beautiful in the world. And the amount of flowers at this time are of an imaginable importance..all protected.

Reservation only, list of guides on the La Maddelena parks website. We thought this was an unnecessary hassle at first, but once we started we quickly understood the reasons. We had Giuliano as a guide, extremely knowledgeable of the area, plant and animal life, good natured & humorous. The trail is about 40-45 minute hike, steep in sections, some loose rock and very hot with no shade. When you get to the beach it takes your breath away, turquoise blue water and small fine sandy area and easy access, some juniper bushes scattered around the bay under rocks for shade, you can find a shady spot. Due to previous years of no regulation, the beach could not handle the amount of traffic (500 people in some days). A place this beautiful needs protection so I am glad to see the restrictions, and a €25 per person for a guide is well worth it. We biked to the parking spot, give yourself 1/1.25 hours from La Maddelena (some hills on the way up !). Met our guide there at 9am, he let us stay for 3 hours which went quickly. Bring a bite to eat and lots of water. You can stop for beers on the way down. One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to. Thank you Giuliano !

Top memories we will always remember
Visited May 2023 and there was just one other couple on the beach at 11am. It filled up slowly around 12 with more groups

The only reason why one star is that we were not able to even get to it. On the side by the road you will see national park rengers who will stop you if you go by foot. Reason is that the way to the beach is protected area and you are not allowed to go there without a guide. Would be nice if I would know this before on sites or other places. If you go with a boat I think its fine. Anyway, there is another really beautiful beach Napoletana 30-40 minutes walking from the main road (bring shoes) if you don’t know where to go from there.
Benjamin K — Google review
Really beautiful beach well worth the approx 45min trek there (definitely wear proper shoes!) - wouldn’t do it with small children as there are some steep climbs included. At the entrance at the street there is a sign stating that you are only allowed to go on the hike if you’re with a guide as it’s a protected area. I didn’t know this beforehand and really wanted to go so went anyway. Around 2:30pm a guide came to the beach with his group of about 6-8 people shouting at everyone there (the little beach was packed with people who hiked there and came by boat) that we weren’t allowed to be there and no towels or other stuff was allowed on the sand. We had to put everything on the rocks around us. It wasn’t clear whether he wanted us to leave so I stayed a bit longer.
I do get that the beach needs to be protected but the guide really destroyed the experience for me a little bit. He was just unnecessarily aggressive and kept bossing people around - except for the people on his tour who were allowed to put their towels on the beach for example. It felt like a show just so these people wouldn’t feel ripped off for paying for something other people got for free.

Really beautiful beach, but a tough trip to get there. We were quite unprepared as there wasn't much information, so I'll share some here. The entire hike is in the sun, so bring enough water! We were sweating like crazy and there is a lot of climbing and descending. There are some tough spots where you will have to descend sitting, so make sure you have your hands free and aren't heavy loaded. You should wear sneakers of some sort, because there is someone checking if you do at the beginning of the trial. She won't allow you to do the trial if you wear flip flops, and with good reason. The beach consists of two beautiful little beaches divided by rocks and the water is delightful to swim in after the hike. As the lady said, the trial is recommended for experienced hikers, and they will take about 45 min to go to the beach and another 45 to return.

We rented a boat which is, in my personal opinion, the best way to visit Cala Coticcio. It's a real paradise. A place you'd never want to leave.

The spot is paradise, clear water and majestic views but beware of the challenging walk. Runners required, at least 1L water and hat. High intensity but high reward!
Julia Healey — Google review
The best beach I went to in Sardegna, simply amazing! If you want to be in the beach, you need to take a guide and hike the trail, otherwise if you go by boat you can only stay in the water and not in the beach.

Breathtaking panorama, there is a few of little beaches and a great variety of fish. Fishing is not allowed, due to the park rules.

You will be able to find various things to visit, the prison, the ossuary, the old work buildings, but above all... The greenery and the sea. It's great to tour the island by bike, be careful in the summer because it's 40 degrees. The only thing, remember that this island is a protected park, so forget about services, taxis, public transport, banks or similar.

Established in 1996, Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago di La Maddalena is a marine park comprising seven main islands and several smaller granite islets located off the northeastern coast of Sardinia. The archipelago's natural sculptures have been shaped by the prevailing maestrale wind over centuries.
An extraordinary series of islands located between the Sardegnean mainland and Corsica with stunning blue water and beautiful beaches. These gems are a little hard to find if you don't have access to a boat but well worth the trip if you can make it! A wonderful place.

Costa Paradiso, located north of Isola Rossa, is a breathtaking coastal area characterized by its wild and scenic beauty. The region boasts stunning beaches and rugged granite cliffs that meet the emerald sea, creating a picturesque landscape. As you make your way around Costa Paradiso towards Santa Teresa Gallura, you'll encounter numerous tiny inlets and coves waiting to be explored.
Capo Testa is a picturesque coastal area in the northernmost point of Sardinia. It offers visitors stunning views of the sea and rocky hiking trails, as well as coves with small sandy beaches to explore. The peninsula is known for its weather-carved granite boulders that resemble sculptures by Henry Moore and a sturdy lighthouse that overlooks the blue waters towards Corsica.
Lovely panoramic view and setting, beautifull spos and bars. Parking tricky (need to come very early) be careful parking attendants are red hot there.

Really impressing rocks & worth a visit! Parking not so easy and the trails need some hints where to go. The beach directly at Capo Testa is a unique place, but extremely crowded - and hard to reach (some „climbing“).

Great with kids, can climb pretty much all over.
Even the coffee bar at the top was great… good burgers and great fries

Capo Testa is great for a walk to discover the rock formations sculpted by the wind. But it is also great for a swim. There are two sides, on one side a long strip of sand and the other a couple of hidden small creeks with some sand. We chose the later for its peaceful nature and crystal clear water.
Parking could be a big issue during the high season. While you come on the road and see some cars, park, don’t go further thinking you will find something. You won’t.
Jean-Philippe Cyr — Google review
This is the most beautiful and interesting coast in Sardegna. Crystal clear water, some fish, strange rock formations and several path around.
Be careful with the parking! If you manage to find a place, where the whole car is beyond the white line, you are lucky, you can park for free. If a part of your car crosses the white line, you will pay a nice fine,so better choice to find a blue line slot and pay at a machine...
one of the most beautiful sunset views on costa smeralda. climb the rocks for some spectacular visuals. bring a pizza and some wine and something soft to sit on so that you can spend as much time as you want there. met some locals who treated us to their home grown grape tomatoes.

When I arrived at Olbia and I checked in my first question was
What place should I visit If I have only 3 days here?
The answer was: If you have a car you should visit Capo Testa
Capo Testa is located at the north of Olbia.
It is the closest point to Corsica and you can see it’s coast
This place (Capo Testa) is not only beautiful for being nearest to Corsica but also for the phenomenal small beaches with
Yellow sand, rocks and blue and crystalline water
You can find several beautiful beaches between Capo Testa and Santa Taresa di Galluro where you can choose either small beaches, Bahia’s and beaches a little bigger
If you are thinking in visiting Cerdeña staying in Olbia, you must visit Capo Testa (it’s far away 60 kms from Olbia)

Fantastic place to trek and enjoy beaches. The granite natural sculpture and the abandoned lighthouse make this place surreal. Plenty of option and also you could spot some of the locals ( 🐐) climbing 😁. I would say is difficult with small kids due to access to the beach is quite rocky

The Porragia Island archipelago, situated between Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio, comprises of stunning granite rocks and boulders that form a beautiful landscape. Bonifacio and also the whole south of Corsica are to be seen and experienced in every way. We chose the right place to do it because our holiday in the apartment "Faro di Capo Testa" in the fantastic Bonifacio was just as we wished.
The apartment is a tastefully decorated jewel in an extraordinary location in the old downtown of Bonifacio and very well located to reach the key points, restaurants and shops of the town. Although the streets are always full of days and nights, the apartment is very quiet and we really got a good rest each day.
A small balcony, overlooking a small square, invites you to have an aperitif in the open air watching the people passing by and admiring the white cliffs located exactly in front of the apartment. The landscape from this point is simply breathtaking and one the best of the town.
The cleanliness of the apartment deserves a good 10.
Meticulous in every detail detail, Federica has managed to make our stay in Bonifacio a really pleasant and unforgettable experience. She was always very professional and helpful in her advices both before and during our stay.

The popular Plage de Santa Giulia in Porto-Vecchio, a bay on the south coast of Corsica, is surrounded by clear, shallow water and beachside restaurants. The pier offers fishing opportunities.
One of the best beaches in Corsica! There are good bars and restaurants, water is crystal clear. One can walk around and explore nice and more quiet places around.
F. Zefi — Google review
We expected more since we visited palombaggia. Santa Giulia is long but narrow beach so we hardly found our spot. We were located in front of some mobile homes and it was really bad smell I guess from the toilettes. The water was clear and shallow, so is perfect for small kids. But a lot of grass in the water and on the beach. Parking lot is 5min away walking and it costs us 5€ per whole day.
Sanja Rozman — Google review
Very beautiful beach in the southeast of Corsica. Partly white sand and turquoise water. The beach is very long and unfortunately also very busy. Nevertheless beautiful. If you are looking for a quieter place to sunbathe, you should walk down the beach to the end, even further than the last hotel-restaurant. In front of the the Hotel there is also a small free parking lot, next to a small lake, but there you have to be a bit lucky, because the other parking lots cost 15 € per day. If you want to go out for a meal, you should know that the beach is mainly home to high-priced eateries. Exception is a kind of fast food restaurant, but that is unfortunately at the other end of the beach.

Great beach. Parking cost 10 Euro, but they give it back if you order anything in a bar or bistro. Clean sand, music, a lot of young people. Cool.

An amazing beach with clear water for the kids to play all day. There are two bars where you can easily get all the necessary food and drinks, so if you are a person who can stay in one place for the whole day, this beach offers everything. For the first 50 meters the water is very shallow, again amazing for little kids. They can walk in and out (under your watchful eye of course) all day. The water was also not cold. I recommend at least a couple of hours to visit, but it could get crowded.
Jon Premik — Google review
A beautiful beach to visit. A free parking lot located at the beach. A couple of restaurants situatuated along the beach for an ice cream, a beverage or something to eat. Lots of shade and lovely white sandy beach.
Charlene Elliott — Google review
Water is shallow and clear, sand is white. Bay is beautiful and the ship can’t come close. So why just 3 out of 5?
The grade is lowered by the August crowd, but hey, this is the time i am here. It is super busy.
There’s also quite a bit of seaweeds that reduce the amount of available beach. They also smell quite a lot. If you’re going in the paid part of it, just disregard this, they keep it pretty clean and they look gorgeous.
Another minus is the parking, the closest to the beach costs 20€!!! TWENTY!!!
There are cheaper options with nice pals (search for the 5€ one on google map, there’s a 5’ walk on a nice path).
Overall, there are FAR better options. Balistra, petit Sperone, Stagnolu and even Rondinara.

Very nice beach. We went there a bit late, but we will definitely come back for a swim, the surrounding is magnificent!
michel mougey — Google review
The beach definitely has a potential. However, it is a victim of its own popularity. In the high season it is very busy. Additionally, the beach is not cleaned of decaying sea weeds making it a very unpleasantness place to lay your towel on. The prices in the surrounding bars and restaurants resemble those found in Switzerland rather than in France. Perhaps the biggest nuisance is the noise pollution. The beach is used to rent all kind of watercraft that emit constant noise and exhaust fumes, polluting this otherwise beautiful place even more. You will do better going somewhere else, unless you enjoy crowds, high prices, dead seewed and noise.

This is what a beach should look like. Beautiful sea, mountains in the background, warm sun. Usually not too crowded, plenty of room to swim, take a walk by the shore, or play with your kids. Definitely will return here!
Tamás Kondor — Google review
Ridiculously packed and honestly expected a lot more. I think the beach is victim to its popularity as the beach was quite dirty with cigarette butts and random trash , and this was early in the morning. Also on the left hand side it’s just a port with all the boats so doesn’t feel great to be swimming so close to that. Views are very nice and water quite warm.
Getting in and out is a complete nightmare as the roads are extremely narrow and two cards barely fits. Arrive as early as possible and leave between 2-330pm

One of the most beautiful beaches close to Porto-Vecchio. It's definitely a must-see when you're in the area.
After 11 am can get quite crowded, but that's something normal.
Unfortunately, some people act like they are at their house throwing away rubbish like bottle caps. You have to be careful while walking on the sand.

I'll never travel to Nice without this trip planner again
Palombaggia is a picturesque beach located near Porto-Vecchio, boasting stunning views of its white sandy shore and turquoise waters. This scenic coastal area is surrounded by evergreen trees, creating a serene and natural ambiance. Nearby, visitors can explore the charming town of Porto-Vecchio with its historic citadel and quaint streets. Palombaggia itself offers a lagoon-like bay with clear and crystal waters, perfect for swimming or simply admiring the beauty of nature.
Wonderful sand beach with convenient parking. Came at around 11 in the morning and it was not a problem to park car in the shade of pine trees. And parking is free! Beach itself goes alongside, walk further and it will not be crowded at all. Crystal clear and shallow water, stones to make insta pics, bars everything is there! The best beach for us visited in Corsica! Recommended!!!

Nice blue shallow water. Great for little kids. Lots of pine needles and other natural debris on the beach. On Sundays extremely crowded. Some jellyfish in the water.

This is, to me, the best beach in Corsica. The dand is white and thin, the water very clean and light blue. You can park very close to the beach if you get there early (before 10am) otherwise there are parking on the street and with a 10-15min walk (very easy) you get there anyway.
Around 11 till 5pm is a bit crowded but still there's plenty of space.
Veronica De Bernardi — Google review
Long Beach with lots of space n a couple of beach bars
Maria Ach — Google review
Very nice beach with very clear water. Good for snorkelling. Not that many different type of fish but enough to have fun.
Beach consists of white sand. Be aware of the sharp needles that fall from the trees.
Enough parking space along the road but also in the parking spots closer to the beach only a few meters walking and you are on the beach

Despite being one of the most touristic beach in the island, it is very nice. Try to go early so can avoid the crowds.

Had pizza sitting on the beach. Was a lovely first evening in Corsica.

Best beach in Porto Vechio.

Definitely overrated place. Corse have much more beautiful beaches than this one.
Don't get me wrong - it's still worth to visit but don't get disappointed looking on photoshop pictures.
Usually very busy and you have to leave car on leading road and walk at least 1.5km.
Cyprian Granosik (Gü_coder) — Google review
Beautiful long beach. Parking is a challenge but possible if you arrive early. Keep your flipflops/sandles on when up near the trees, sharp spines that fall from the pines into your feet are no good.

Although the weather was very windy and not suitable for swimming, you can see that it is a great beach, with white sands and clear water. The space is not much, so maybe there are problems during high seasson.
Juan M. — Google review
Beautiful beach with very clear water. There is a lot of sand space so one can enjoy, and the water is shallow. Enough free parking space along the road.
Maria Clapés Cabrer — Google review
Great sandy beach with clear waters. We were lucky to come when it was not that busy.

Beautiful beach!!!!!
Really warm and transparent water. Great place for sunbathing and swimming!
Located in south Corsica, Plage de Roccapina is a stunning beach that attracts fortunate visitors with its perfect white sand and picturesque surroundings. The beach is like a stage at the base of the surrounding mountains, where dense vegetation cascades down the green hillsides. Golden glints of sunlight dance on the rocks during the day, creating a breathtaking view. One of the highlights is a lion-shaped rock formation that serves as an impressive backdrop to this remarkable beach.
Be careful, you need to take a gravel road to go next to this beautiful beach. Alternatively one can park the car in the main street and walk to the beach for about 30 minutes. The water is crystal clear. A true beautiful beach. There's nothing around, don't forget to bring your own drinks and food.
F. Zefi — Google review
This beach is perfect. Fine white sand, cristalline water and amazing rocks that surrounds it. Bumpy-dirty road to get here, but I managed with a regular car. Just drive carefully. If you have a low car, maybe you should avoid it.
mikyberra — Google review
2.3 Km drive on a bumpy dirt road reward you with a beautiful beach, a cross between Seychelles and Maldives. White sands and rocky boulders, lush green mountains and turquoise waters. The car park can get full very quickly.
Fardad — Google review
The beach is indeed amazing, it was crowded when we arrived and wow, if you’re in a car with a chassis low to the ground and more than 2 travelers GOOD LUCK driving down from the main road T40.
We were 2 in a standard vehicle but we followed a long line of cars with passengers that had to get out of the car at every “bump”.
I’m amazed that roads like this even exist without a warning sign but they in fact do so know before you go, the voyage down and back up IS A SAFARI, you’re best off in an SUV or a 4x4.
The people who choose to walk down from the main parking lot have a 30-45 minute hike dodging cars that are making their way up and down. It’s definitely not the most ideal way to end a day at the beach.
That being said, amazing views, nicer voyage for those traveling by yacht or catamaran I imagine 😉
Sydney Martinie — Google review
This is a really beautiful beach. It’s not the biggest and you can only reach it down a terrible potholed track but it’s perfect if you like undeveloped beaches. Soft white sand and a crystal clear turquoise sea with small waves. There are several places to park. Some better than others. It’s very busy during the July and August period but it’s more peaceful in the off peak months. And of course there is the Roccapina lion rock overlooking the bay.
Nicola Byrnes — Google review
A lovely beach, nice shallow and warm water. The color color of the sea is incredible, turquoise!!! The road is not so good, no asphalt. Not crowded
Anca Popa — Google review
Beautiful beach at the end of 2km off-road. Can be done with normal car. Quite popular but also huge, so you don't have sit on each other. No service or toilets.
Aaron — Google review
Wonderful beach with very crystalline water.
Only pity was the huge number of boats anchored quite near the beach
Les Aiguilles De Bavella is a majestic and grandiose location nestled in the mountains of Bavella. It offers breathtaking views of the towering needles and is best visited early to avoid crowds. The area provides opportunities for a 5-hour round trip hike from Col de Bavella to explore its natural wonders, including the famous "trou de la bombe.
Very friendly, cozy, and nice! Great bread.

At 11am, we’ve ordered 2 cappuccinos at an almost empty restaurant. We were served two cups of warm milk with barely dissolved instant coffee or similar substance floating on top although they have an espresso machine. Upon politely asking whether our order was misunderstood, we were informed in no uncertain terms that “chez nous le cappuccino est comme ça”. Best avoided.

This was such a nice place - our first question was “do you accept credit card” as some very nearby places don’t or pretend they don’t accept CC but here the waiter/ owner was very clear: yes we do - the food itself was very tasty, the service was very friendly (almost ‘not-French’ if you get my point), and the location/ view is excellent - thank you “Aiguilles” team!
Ingmar Boon — Google review
This place is excellent in a lot of regards.
They offer top quality meals, when "it was too late" for the other two restaurants nearby, the staff are excellent, very nice, the meals were all of a quite large portion and very tasty.
You can even get accommodation (with breakfast, lunch, dinner included) below in the basement on bunkbeds, they have showers, a small kitchen.
Overall, it was an excellent choice to rest here for the evening before continuing our journey on the GR20.

Excellent service, great food, good beer.
We came from climbing very late at 9 pm and they made us some awesome food!
Service was superb! Very warm-hearted! Looking forward to visit this place again!
Filitosa, an important prehistoric site in Corsica located 20km north of Propriano, showcases remarkable granite menhirs that were erected up to 6000 years ago. Some of these standing stones were re-carved during the Bronze Age, about 2500 years later, depicting intricate faces and weaponry. These unique carvings seem to honor specific individuals. The site offers an hour-long exploration through open fields and hillsides that contain remnants of ancient enclosures.
Great place to visit, is really interesting and plenty to read. You can explore and take your time. The access is not complicated and you have parking and a little brasserie on the side to eat. I was impressed for the olive tree! The path is fairly well indicated however it could be improved a bit. The museum at the end is plenty of historic information.
Javier F U — Google review
Parc with ancient Filitosa statues spread over a few hectares. There is at the entrance a modern building with interesting historical artifacts and a shop. The entrance fee was rather high for what is there to see, on the other hand it’s a quite unique site which should be seen.

A place not to be missed. Looking at 8000 years old history. Museum well set with archeological discoveries set chronologicaly, village well preserved and great landscape.
Olivier Rahier — Google review
Nice archeological center, as it presents the history of Corsica. (The museum at the end d plains nicely). The site itself is a bit too basic, lacking an explanation (unless you purchase the guide which we didn't do as we already spent 9€ eaxh, for the entrance) that could have been included (the qr code give you access ti only very little and poorly translated information)
Veronica De Bernardi — Google review
Absolutely beautiful! I enjoyed every moment of the visit! I met wonderful people who feel responsible to save and share the ancient history and site. Walking there is simply so peaceful that I hardly wanted to leave while I learnt about history and the dedication of the family owning the site.
Kinga Muszik — Google review
They do have a restaurant on site as well. The tour is audio guided via QR code.
Goodyear — Google review
Worth visiting for the anthropomorphic menhirs but otherwise compared to sites in say Brittany it is slightly underwhelming. Most of the museum was closed off when we visited with no explanation when it would open. The very good €2 guide guide leaflet is worth spending a few moments scanning before you start exploring. The most important menhir, Filitosa V, is now a replica but there is no mention of where the original now is.
John Laidler — Google review
Very interesting place, although privately owned and run it gives in depth information about the neolithic/bronze age people who used to live herein
Patrick Nagel — Google review
The road to here is difficult
There are some interesting stones but for sure this "site" can be improved. They simply can add some flower gardens, some productive olive trees, etc
Hint: you can simply visit without paying if you take a look on sattelite images. I was very disappointed to see cars parked inside of this "site"

A fantastic way to see this beautiful coastline.
The captain Guillaume is very knowledgeable about the fragile ecosystems of the local area as well as the geography and history of Corsica. He is passionate about his business and his wife Marine took good care of us during the pre booking conversations.
We opted for the the Jean-Baptiste which is a sturdy craft with good speed when needed. It's ideal for a family outing as it offers shade as well as a sunbathing area. Our captain is a skilled mariner.
We chose the Scandola cruise which included a visit of this world famous reserve and more. From 3pm till sunset.
A memorable experience.
I'm happy to recommend.

(Translated by Google) This is a great way to discover Piana and the exceptional Scandola reserve ... The boat!
But which formula adopted in family with 2 children of 4 and 7 years?
Well without hesitation the one proposed by Guillaume!
The Sailor first ... He has a real sympathy and a nameless patience. In love with his island and his region, he passionately shows off the marvels of Piana and Scandola. His descriptions are particularly rich. He does not hesitate to go against the current of many cruises by refusing itineraries or behaviors for the sole purpose of preserving this reserve.
Her ship is spacious and very comfortable. And particularly suitable for children! They were able to move around according to the discoveries and then lie down on the bench!
The visit may be a little bit precise. The swimming was a bit quick, the visit to Girolata also ... But it is perhaps because we did it precisely with our children.
The circuit is very pleasant and the landscapes are breathtaking.
I can only invite you to follow Guillaume and his ship!

(Translated by Google) April is certainly the most pleasant month to discover this region, and discovering it with Mare Bellu is a rare privilege. The bush is in bloom and already smells so good. The sun was out. In the crevices of the rock we can see the nests of ospreys, which sometimes come out to fish! The boat maneuvers to slip into the caves revealing astonishing depths. The captain explains the volcanic geology of the site, the fragile natural balance based on the posidonia, but also the history of this territory... it's fascinating. Of course, the water is still a little cool, but the point is not to put sunscreen in the swimming pool of the Calanques de Piana, is it? The colors of the red, green and dug rocks are extraordinary. And all in Olympian calm... a true paradise. The only difficulty is convincing the captain to take you on board. Good luck!

Museum in the former barracks of the citadel is dedicated to Corsican anthropology like pottery.
Nice view from up there... Museum for shure worth a visit. They have also audio guides there... The center of the city is relay nice. Better don't visit with a huge car. Not much space there.

Very nice museum that does not pretend to be the world top. Interesting exhibition that narrates about Corsico origin, good collection of maps. The view from the fortress is marvelous!
Ирина Могилева — Google review
Spacious, well laid out museum on several floors.
The exhibits provide a comprehensive history of Corsica. You need to leave plenty of time for a visit if you want to read all of the detailed information for each exhibit. As with most museums there is probably more on display than can be absorbed on one visit. Don't miss the "Corsican Head" sculpture on the outside terrace on the first floor.
Brian Gavin — Google review
Worth going in for the views from the citadel alone. The directional signage is available in English, but the exhibition signs are French and Italian only. Interesting enough though.

Really interesting museum with plenty of greate exhibits and good styling. You can enter citadel from here. This place have a huge potential, problem is that they is not a single word in English on any of descriptions. That's something to fix and improve for sure .

Otherwise a nice museum, and the Citadel has a great view over the town, but if you don't speak French or Corse, the museum is simply not worth visiting because there are no displays written in English.

Very well-done the lab for kids: we were two adults without kids and enjoyed it so much anyway. Explanatory videos along the exhibition are nice as well. The permanent exhibition includes objects that show traditional Corsican habits, culture and savoir-fare, but probably should undergo a renovation. Small gift-shop, no bar or coffee inside.

Excellent Grand Tour du Golfe trip, a must-do around the area. Comfortable modern boat and great staff. What distinguishes Alpana Sea Excursions from many operators was the personalised transparent service provided from start-to-end. We were informed prior to booking that it was mainly French-speaking tour and to our surprise, our captain made every effort to translate the main points to us - the only passengers on the trip that were English speakers. It made the trip extra enjoyable on top of the amazing views of Calaques de Piana and Scandola Reserve. Highly recommended.

There are several companies running the same kind of tour. I highly recommend going for those mid size boats (12 people max) as it allows to go deeper among the rocks while benefiting from the captain comments (something you don’t get renting on your own - also, you would be highly time constrained while these fast boat can easily navigate from one point to another). Alpana was a good choice indeed.

I opted for a short circuit visiting the calanques and it was a great experience: the place is gorgeous!
Cécile was very nice and helpful with reservations and instructions on where to park the car. The boat is super cosy and powerful, but due to small size Thibault, the capitan, glides it inside the caves. On top of this, they accept only 12 people on the boat equipped with 18 seats, which makes it more comfortable and one can change place on the way back to a more protected one.
Many thanks to Cécile et Thibault for this magical experience!

Really great boat renting company. Everyone was super helpful and nice. Super captain and very nice boat. They have a very solid boat that can go out even with a mixed weather (with some wind), for 12 persons while you could fit at least 20 sited people. So you have a lot of space but the ship is small enough to go in all the different caves. You will be ensured to live a great experience, even with a "not too good" weather while most of the other companies will have their ships stuck in the harbour.

Skilled captain that manoeuvres the boat close to the spectacular landscape. Only 12 people on board, so relaxed atmosphere and a chance to take good pictures. We did the tour in a different order than other companies, which meant we had all the spots mostly to ourselves. Great in dept explanation on the geology and wildlife of the area. We like corsica ferries more than m...y ships. But it depends. They have good ships and not so good ships. We had a lot of cabins. Some cabins are quiet and some are very noisy.
Reviewer cheffe — Google review
My suggestions for improvement: The staff on the Livorno ferry could definitely be friendlier. A more polite manner and greater willingness to assist would significantly enhance the travel experience. The ferry seems to be in an outdated condition and requires renovation. New carpets, chairs, and overall modern furnishings would uplift the onboard ambiance. If dogs are allowed on board, appropriate facilities should be provided for them. Artificial grass and clean disposal options for dog waste would be a welcome improvement. The conditions of the onboard sanitary facilities are unacceptable. Cleanliness and hygiene should be top priorities and urgently improved. Surveys should inquire about the status of the pool if it is actually in operation. The information should be current and relevant. The website is also in need of improvement to better inform customers about the services and the condition of the ferry. The Wi-Fi code didn't work, which was a frustrating experience. Likewise, the booked Express Boarding did not function as expected.
My opinion on the crossing: Overall, my experience on this ferry was disappointing. The staff's rudeness, the poor condition of the facilities, non-functional Wi-Fi, and the disappointing Express Boarding all marred the experience. The cabins were acceptable, and I appreciate the honesty of the staff when my wallet was found in one of the cabins. Boarding in Bastia went smoothly, and the staff there were more polite. Nevertheless, there is an urgent need for improvements on this ferry to justify the high prices. The information on the website should be updated to better inform future passengers and avoid disappointments.

They get you from A to B, with a big boat that you can put your car on. Expect no more and I wish you the best.
We had a 1-hour departure delay that turned into 2 (we were notified the morning of departure, that was ok), then ended up being 5 as we waited on the parking lot. And that was just the delay of departure. Upon arrival, there was another hour+ of delay for whatever reason. When the doors finally opened to get to the cars, the required vouchers for reimbursement magically went missing until there were just a handful of people left waiting. Great enthusiastic announcement over the PA system (also the first one on all this)! As we by then had a sleeping toddler and were in no rush (we stopped caring), we were among the last so we actually have the voucher. Don't expect any response when you try to get reimbursed, though. Their info on the website is total B#, there's no followup whatsoever (which is against the law, but hey..), they just don't respond and believe me, we've tried, in many different ways. A bad product is one thing, but a bad customer service is another.
No second chance from us, nor any of our friends. the worst travel experience of my life, by a lot.

Ship is run by Italian people, and they run it like it's their own monarchy, with the passenger as lowest "rank". The boat had some delay and we had to get out of the cabins so they can start "cleaning" it. But the garage-deck wasn't open yet, so the hallway got more and more stacked and hotter and hotter and the crew was kinda shouting with the typical "italian" handsignals, not the best experience.

Good transfer from Bastia to Livorno. We had to get out of our cabins 30min early. Personal was mildly unfriendly. Otherwise wonderful journey.
La Villa Calvi is a luxury boutique hotel located in the city of Calvi, which is only a 5-minute drive from the beautiful private beach. The hotel has 5 different swimming pools, tennis courts, fitness centre and a variety of beauty treatments available for guests to enjoy. Beautiful hotel, high on the hill with expansive views of the citadella, the harbor and the bay. Service was exquisite!

We spent a week at La villa Calvi and it was a pure happiness. The staff is super nice and make sure you are getting everything you need. The breakfast is amazing !
We loved every single things of this hotel and will come back !

My wife and I spent 4 nights at La Villa Calvi for our honeymoon. The room was very spacious with a stunning sea/mountain view balcony.
The staff, from cleaners to managers, were all excellent and were all polite and friendly. Breakfast was superb, and the food at both restaurants (the beach and the main hotel) we found delicious. True luxury.

GOOD HOTEL WITH A NICE VIEW, ROOMS ARE JUST GOOD, NOTHING SPECIAL, YOU HAVE TO SHOWER IN THE BATH, WHICH IS A Pity.
A BIG DISADVANTAGE IS THAT THE KITCHEN DOES NOT OFFER LACTOSE-FREE ALTERNATIVES. A GOOD CHEF/HOTEL SHOULD BE ABLE TO RESPOND IMMEDIATELY TO THIS, SO MY DINNER RESULTED IN A FIASCO, DRY FRIED MEAT WITH COOKED VEGETABLES NO FLAVOR AT ALL SO IT WENT BACK TO THE KITCHEN, LUCKNOW THE Fries WERE TASTY. THE SAME APPLIES FOR BREAKFAST NO LACTOSE FREE ALTERNATIVE EVEN ON REQUEST (ASK ONE DAY IN ADVANCE FOR A CROISSANT OR SOMETHING LIKE) NO LACTOSE FREE BUTTER WHILE YOU CAN BUY VARIOUS BRANDS OF VEGETABLE BUTTER EVERYWHERE. THAT MAKES THE STAY A LOT LESS PLEASANT.

We visited Calvi, some of us coming from Asia, some from Paris, and were looking forward to a dinner at La Villa. Not only was it very difficult to book a table, in spite of the restaurant being half empty when we eventually visited last May, but the experience was very disappointing. No welcome at the hotel entrance, very slow service -a nice lady seemed to be alone dealing with several tables- nothing of what’s expected from a 5 star hotel restaurant at this price. The sommelier was most unpleasant: arrogant, rude, not interested to explain local wines, only focused on filling and re-filling our glasses to the max -spilling wine on the table right from the beginning- even before any bread or other food had been brought to the table. I wonder if the experience can even get worse during high season when the hotel is busier. It’s a shame to offer such a poor experience at this price in a beautiful location.

La Villa is a contradiction , it is a five star hotel but many facets of its service are distinctly lacking .
Firstly the positives
- excellent location
- clean and airy and modern
- good spacious bright clean rooms , the house keeping staff are excellent, friendly, enthusiastic and professional
- food is good , albeit I have had much better elsewhere.
- the young lady running the restaurant was excellent - very professional and friendly.
- the drivers were excellent- particularly Euan
The disappointments
- despite being a resident we were unable to book a table despite being flexible on time
- the wine waiter needs retraining !!
He pushed for our wine order even though we hadn’t ordered / decided on our food ! He made no attempt to be helpful , he overfilled the glasses , he even wanted to poor a second different wine into the same glasses we were frankly appalled and he argued the point.
He was rude and arrogant .
- the room service menu for children lacked imagination . It was also
Problematic that hot food was not available until after 7.30pm ( the food actually arrived at 8.50 pm).
- a meal served to one of our friends had paper in it !! The waitress apologised , but for a 5 star rating I would have expected the owner / manager / chef to come out and apologise- indeed the chef did come out and came over to us but then proceeded to talk to two people on the next table for 15 minutes with his back to us - a opportunity lost!
- my wife and my daughter were at the beach but the hotel refused to come and collect them ( having done so 2 days earlier ) - the person was unhelpful , didn’t offer to organise a taxi or make any suggestions
This hotel did not live up to its 5 star rating , please improve the consistency of your service level - attention to detail and training are core requirements.

This is a lovely peaceful hotel, with a magnificent view of Calvi. Very friendly and helpful staff with large well appointed rooms. The grounds and pool are well presented and it is in walking distance of the centre of Calvi, although it is uphill on the way back. Although they could lose the rubber ducks in the pool in front of the restaurant! (Some smart designers idea of being funny)
Nigel McKinley — Google review
Had a disappointing trip here a while back. Food and drink were lovely but quite stuffy for the children to really relax and enjoy themselves. One member of staff (a driver/delivery guy) was so unpleasant to us, it really ruined our holiday. I complained to R&C who gave me a pretty pathetic response. Won't go again.

Nice hotel, room and view. However seriously let down by a few points: 1) food choice extremely limited 2) transfer from airport not organised properly; 3) air con in gym very weak; 4) shuttle car not at level expected; 5) staff -some lovely and some very unhelpful; 6) beach utterly dreadful. Overall much to like but could be so much better with attention to a few areas. Also not in the slightest kid friendly with very small pool and surrounding area.
Vicki Stern — Google review
Lovely place to stay. Classical and tranquil. The service is perfect as you would expect, and partly the reason why you'd stay for the care and attention to detail. I have added some photos of the views of Calvi bay and hillside the room. The hotel also have an electric car for shuttle services into town. So thumbs up for the environmental care. More hotels should follow this lead. People are taking notice of hotel policy and the care they make with impact on their local environment. Well done, Relais & Châteaux.

Plage de Saleccia, located on the northern coast of Corsica, is often hailed as one of the most picturesque beaches in Europe. With its white sand, turquoise waters, and lush vegetation, it's no wonder this idyllic spot was chosen as a filming location for The Longest Day in 1962. Accessible by boat taxi from St. Florent or a scenic drive from Casta, this half-mile stretch of undeveloped coastline offers a serene escape.
One of the best beaches I have been to. Wide beach fine sand turquoise water. Catch a boat taxi from the St. Florent pier. There are several companies on the pier that are not on Google Maps, not just Le Popeye. We made a reservation a day ahead with Spassighj’Agriate and they were great.
Dan Sinnreich — Google review
This beach is amazing, comparable with the best beaches in the Mediterranean. The only problem is how close the boats can arrive, it really feels like swimming in an arbour.
Eleonora Delfrate — Google review
Nice beach, but nothing ‘special’, loads of nice beaches in Corsica that do not require an hour off-road driving (10 kms) to get too! A nice sandy long beach, but the snorkeling was disappointing. Maybe a visit by boat would be the best option.
Nigel McKinley — Google review
Just an amazing beach!
The sand is superb, the water is azure, and the wind is calm.
However, you can't really get there easily: the "road" is 6 euro and if you don't have a tall 4x4 it's better not to go there.
On the beach there's no toilet or change room, so be ready to share some of your secrets. It's not a lot of people, though.
Vlad Kasianenko — Google review
Gorgeous beach! Definitely has an "Instagram vs Reality" feel due to the number of tourists and taxi boats. Maybe best to visit in the morning. We saw a few jellyfish during the late afternoon. Bring a parasol!
Melissa Warren-Garcia — Google review
Fantastic beach. I like the way to get there. There is no road. But with a motorcycle or a 4x4 car you can get there. The beach is very clean. The sand is fine but not more fine than on the other side like at Bastia. You can be shure that everyone on this beach has made a special effort to come here. There are sometime cows on thr beach. The cows like to play with some visitors. This plage is one of the most difficult to get there.

This beach is extraordinary special and located very nice. The scenery is just great. Clear water and white sand makes you feel like in the Caribbean. During the main season it's often crowded, but still worth a visit. You can go by 4 wheel drive from Casta or by boat from St. Florent. Or by your own car, and without 4 wheel drive it will take some hours to do down the earth road. Close to the beach there's the famous camping site and on the other end of the beach a very nice beach restaurant hidden in the pines. Definitely with a visit.

I give you as good description I can. Because I searched in advance before visiting Saleccia and didn’t get the whole picture. First. This is a beach worth traveling to. One of the top 10 in Europe if you search for unique places. This is natural. Beside Chia in Sardinia this is magic. For me. St. Florent is the nearest city. You will find at least 3 providers of transport by boat there. It cost you 30 euro in a rib. Easy 10 min. You can choose in and out times in advance if you are early or there the day before. From 09. Saleccia gives you about a kilometer of the finest sand with no gras or other. At the south end we found Rosa or pink if you want, sand. You walk easy out in the water. Slowly it gets deeper. So nice. We saw 4 private boats when we where there on a Wednesday in September. We walked 50 minutes to Lotu beach along the coast and returned from there. Wearing just sandals. Nice walk. Lotu is smaller and ok but we found Saleccia more perfect for us. You can also reach it by car. If you have a decent 4x4 just do it. They say 45 minutes. From the road up on St Florent mountain. You find it. There are many providers of transport in that area. 30 min from the city. So you need to add that for the 45 min if you stay in St. F. I don’t know the price for 4x4 transport.
The Citadella di Calvi, a historical landmark in Corsica, offers visitors a chance to experience authentic old streets and buildings. The citadel's location provides stunning views of the surrounding ancient city, bay, and mountains in the background. Additionally, it is conveniently situated within walking distance of numerous shops and restaurants. It is worth taking a stroll up to the citadel at least once during your stay to enjoy some cozy eateries with an exceptional view of Calvi Bay.
Impressive place, nice surrounding ancient city, the bay with Mountains in the Background. I will definitely return to this place on the Island Corsica.

Spectacular views of the town below and lots of little, interesting streets to lose yourself in. There are various signs with information and an audio tour I believe people can do (although we didn't). A lovely little church can be found near the top and a delicious ice cream parlour.

Awesome! Nice place to be not too big as Ajaccio or Bastia...really cosy...
Mirja Weber — Google review
The top of the citadel was a great place to climb on during a cloudy day. I would say that the citadel would be cooler maybe with a couple more restaurants and bar, as there is not that much to do once you climb on top apart from an ice cream place and a couple of shops. Nonetheless, Calvi is great and the citadel as well.

Definitely worth the climb up the steps to wander around the narrow cobbled streets of the Citadel & enjoy the panoramic views of the city.
A few little hidden away bars, restaurants and shops and some breezy areas to cool you in the summer sun.

This citadel is full of history, offering the chance of the doing a self-paced tour of the various buildings within the citadel. There’s lots of bars, restaurants and cafés around. Would recommend visiting it in the morning as the afternoon can get quite hot within its walls.

Bussana Vecchia, a captivating old town near Sanremo in Liguria, Italy, has a unique history. Following an earthquake in 1887, the town was deserted and remained so until the 1960s when it was rediscovered by an international community of artists who renovated and repopulated it. Today, Bussana Vecchia is known for its artistic vibe and is considered a hamlet of Sanremo.
The Hanbury Botanical Garden, situated in Mortola Inferiore near the French border, is a stunning 19th-century landscaped and terraced garden featuring an extensive collection of exotic and local plants from different climate zones. The garden owes its diverse plant collection to the Hanbury family who have collected them over time. It's an excellent place for a summer morning stroll, where visitors can buy refreshments and souvenirs from the bookshop on site.

Fantastic place with a wide collection of exotic and local plants, which has been collected by Hanbury family as first. The ideal place to make the nice stroll through it during the summer morning. If you forgot the bottle of water, in the bookshop is possible to buy drinks to refresh yourself and some nice souvenirs. Highly recommended to visit. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed and the parking area is not big enough, so it's better to come early morning to get the spot.

It’s an amazing place, hidden in plain sight. Parking can be pretty challenging, but once you’re inside you can gaze at all the different terraces with plants, trees and bushes.
We went July 1st, but it looks like the drought has hit the gardens hard.
At sea level you can enjoy a snack, a drink and/or an ice cream before making your way back up the gardens.

We visited on the 7th of March 2018, the weather was cool but sunny, being so early in the year we had no great expectations. However we were stunned by the beauty of the place, there was very little in flower, though the variety and types of plants and trees was enough to keep us amazed throughout our visit. Every corner turned produced a new vista, which kept the camera clicking. The park is on the side of a steep hill, which drops down to the sea, but following the prescribed route was never difficult. Alternative routes or guides were available for disabled and the blind. The staff were very friendly, helpful and patient with my bad Italian. The cafe at the very bottom of the hill by the sea sold coffee, ice-cream, filled baguettes and cold drinks. A limited selection though adequate selection.
