How long is the drive from Schladming to Graz?
The direct drive from Schladming to Graz is 104 mi (168 km), and should have a drive time of 1 hr 54 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Schladming to Graz, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Hallstatt and 5 Fingers, or the ever-popular Kaiservilla.
The top stops along the way from Schladming to Graz (with short detours) are Zipline Stoderzinken, Old Town of Graz, and Uhrturm. Other popular stops include Kaiservilla, Red Bull Ring, and Traunsee.
Elegant & tranquil palace for at least 700 years, now a museum with imperial artifacts & fine art.
Guided tour in German lasts 45 minutes. We missed the 1030 tour, had a coffee at the outdoor cafe, and joined the next at 1115. Laminated notes in English, and several other languages, are enough to give the gist of the Kaiser's villa and his family life. The current (11 June 22 - October 22) Dirndl exhibition in the Cottage is well presented.

Beautiful piece of austria-hungarian monarchy history. Great tour guide. Great place to visit, including the villa garden. Close to camper parking place.
Petr Mach — Google review
A beautiful place to visit. You pay entrance fee, but you can buy only for the park separately, or with the villa too. We just walked around the park and didn't go inside and it was totally worth it. Beautifully maintained park, I'd say probably even wheel chair accessible. Beautiful in autumn!
Krisztina S — Google review
Place is a lesson of history and brings you in the complicate memory of the ones that lived in.
A live presentation in English instead of written explanations will be a plus.

DERELICT PAST GLAMOUR
An old vestige of the imperial glamour. The interior is kept as if the Kaiser and the Empress should arrive any second to sit at the dinner table.
The premises are ample and they reflect how once the imperial"blue bloods" lived.
The Villa is enormous, but it is in dire need of repairs.
Gabriele L'Immaginifico — Google review
I am incredibly dissapoointed. The villa is gorgeous, BUT! they only have german guided tour. More scandalously I have paid 21 Eur - as the others - to go on a 1 hour tour where I only had a 4 pages text about the villa. The lady who I bought the ticket only told me about it after I paid. The guy who guided us definitely was really well informed, he spoke over an hour about the villa, but we did not understand a word of it. I know you are so proud of being Austrians but this villa is an important historical place where you have visitors from all over the world. Do something about it or do not expect to pay the same price. It has actually made our trip really bad for the entire day.
Veronika Srs — Google review
A must visit villa which tells a certain part of both Habsburg monarchy and Austrian history. The villa is literally a piece of art and has huge gardens which makes it best for strolling.
Hana D — Google review
Not more than a tourist trap.
The guy at the gate did not even speak English: we tried to explain that we would have left our dog at leash to a pole outside the villa to visit it, but he just sold us the tickets for the park waving us to go away…
The park is just a garden though. So we had to buy the villa tickets as per our first intentions but paying it extra compared to the combo ticket the guy should have sold us.
The villa is very small and, excluding the Kaiser room, the other ones seem left with some forniture with no sense (I mean you don’t understand how the room really was).
No English audiobook and the the feeling is that you pay a lot to see very little in order to make the royal family descendants (that still live there, using Sisi room so that you cannot visit it) a little bit richer with no experience at all.
On top the blond lady at the counter inside was very rude like she did not want to sell us the tickets. No hallo, no smiles.. no service.
Stay away!
The picture just shows how little caring is taken of the villa.

Nice place with a well preserved house,. Too many spiders and the park is beautiful. The ice cream is expensive. No need to go up to see the pavilion, it's on99.

An important visit walking through the rooms where history has bern made between the 19th and 20th century

One of the best museums in Upper Austria.
Worth to visit. Great guides
Aigul H — Google review
The Villa itself is beautiful but inside you can't make photos what is sad for tourists. The tour guide only speak German, but we got papers in our language so we can understand something but he spoke so much an we couldn't understand a thing of it.
I really liked every room of the castle but because of the big crowd it was hard to see things, rhe only way was to stay behind and walk almost by yourself.
But for the experience to German speaking people is worth it.

The park is a Nice location to take a walk.. unfortunately the areas with planted flowers is very limited nowadays- pre Covid it was a colourfull experience.. the tour through the villa is nice - especially if the guide tells some nice stories- sadly the interior did not always age well …

Amazing villa, it is useful to read around the historic & personal events of the family. A great place of historic significance and romanticised by Elizabeth the beautiful empress whose life was tragically cut short by an anarchist in Italy. Thank you to the family who are allowing us to visit their residence. The garden is more an " jadin anglaise"and out of season as visited in October. We have enjoyed the visit and appreciate all seen, our tour was in English which was wonderful. The statue ( The Listener) from what I remember was a present from Queen Victoria xxx💞
Anca Neacsu — Google review
Very beautiful garden and villa. The tour is only in German but a guide is given in other languages so that the visit can be followed
Laia Movilla — Google review
It was ok- very expensive for what you actually get to see. The whole tour is in German, though they do give you laminated sheets with info in your language. This is fine, however, you don't get told this until the beginning of the tour... had we known we probably wouldn't have bothered. Someone in our party bought a book about the family and we learnt more from that.
You don't actually see much of the house. Disappointing.
Hallstatt is a village situated on the western shore of Lake Hallstatt in Austria's mountainous Salzkammergut region. It boasts of 16th-century Alpine houses and alleyways, which house cafes and shops. One can take a funicular railway to visit Salzwelten, an ancient salt mine featuring a subterranean lake made of salt.
Unique, hand-shaped observation platform featuring 5 "fingers" stretching 400 m. above the ground.
Visitors can experience the most Elegant, charming view point with an elevation of around 2100 meters. To get to 5 Fingers from Dachstein need to take cable car 🚡 which costs around 40 euros and the ride will be thrilling, It will take 3 hours to cover this view point and surroundings. All in all, taking some pictures gonna be happy moments.
BHARATH RELA — Google review
This viewing platform gives stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the Dachstein Glacier, Hallstatt, and the Salzkammergut region.
You need to walk for 30 minutes from the starting point of the upper station of the cable card to five fingers.
On the way toward five fingers you will see a superb view of the lake and snow mountains.
They have placed benches on the mountains which will give great feelings and best moments.
Nimesh Dedhia — Google review
Great viewing point. If you go winter time better to rent a ski shoes. It will be much safer.
Natalia Bunga — Google review
Great views and an amazing experience. Make sure you wear the correct footwear as the mountain top and track are snow-covered, even in May!
Neil Clark — Google review
Amazing observation deck with a breathtaking view! It takes about 30 minutes walk from the cable car. Beautiful and pleasant walk.
The weather is a bit chilly so be prepared 😁
Take into account that since it's high you need to be careful with adjusting the mountains height. So walk slowly and stop as you go up.
The view at the end is just unbelievable!
Tanya Rofman — Google review
On the hike to the 5 fingers you have an absolutely stunning view of:
The Hallstatt town, the lake, and the remnant of the ice age, the glacier.
The attraction is very popular so it is usually crowded. We arrived late so, there were less people.
The walk to the 5 fingers takes you on a panoramic hike of 25 - 30 minute, the view is breath taking.
The way back is a a bit of a climb, so it might be difficult.
The whole experience is not cheap but definitely worth it.
Slava Mironov — Google review
Very nice view, get your hiking boots if walking during rain time. We were there when it was sunny down the valley but when we were up, all was freezing and cloudy. Should've see the forecast before!
Anyway, was great.
Lior Bless — Google review
This place is after the 2nd cable car up. Then from the station it's about a 20 it so minute leisurely walk to get to. The path is generally cleared up so the snow has been pushed to the sides and makes it an easy walk without ice or snow on it (though you can veer off the path to play).
5 fingers itself does have some amazing views though it is weather dependent on the cloud cover. We got unlucky on that front with the view blocked, but we enjoyed the mountain views on the walk. Do try and plan it on a good visibility day.
Arya Vali-Khojeini — Google review
Be prepared to walk, A LOT! A lot of walking is involved to get to where you want. We paid for the all-inclusive ticket but bare got to see anything cause our toddler couldn’t handle the uphill and downhill walking for a total of more than an hour. And we only found out about how much we needed to talk after we got off the cable car so that was a lovely surprise. The view is great though. Also don’t forget to wear your sunscreen and get a hat.
Hind MM — Google review
Easy, well marked, paved trail leading to amazing views . There are 5 small overhangs that point in slightly different directions giving you great views and perspectives. We arrived on the first cabin and enjoyed being almost alone. This place will be crowded during the season.
Dmitriy Fridlyand — Google review
The view is breathtaking when you are standing on 5 fingers. You really experience the beauty of the alps in austria. Highly recommend something you will never forget!
Nick Hoban — Google review
Easiest way by which one can reach here is by taking two cable car rides and a walk of appx. 30min. on the mountain top. It's an amazing walk with wonderful views of valleys on all sides of the mountain amongst the moving clouds.
Pawan Nilank — Google review
Amazing!!!! The view is phenomenal and the walk around the place is breathtaking as well. I can only recommend. The ice cave was a fun visit and is really pretty. We ate at the little restaurant at the top and it was a wonderful experience. I come here every time I visit Austria
Robin Bentley — Google review
Amazing view down to Hallstatt and across the mountains in a very special part of the world. I'd give it 5* but getting there and back was a bit unpleasant for us on the day due to the conditions (9 Jan '24). We were warned that windspeed was high, but also the soft snow was sometimes knee+ deep and the track was steeper and longer than I expected. So we struggled a bit, but it'd definitely be much easier and safer on a less wintery day.
Joel Cottrell — Google review
I cannot say in words how beautiful this place can be! So much to see and do up in the sky, you’ll not get bored.
I wouldn’t worry a lot about the weather as bow it can be rainy and 30 mins later sunny.
Explore the Dachstein Giant Ice Cave, a fascinating underground world of glaciers, stalactites and subterranean hollows extending over 80km. Accessible via the Schonbergalm cable-car station, visitors can tour two different caves - the Dachstein Eishohle and Mammuthohle - each taking an hour to explore.
The ice cave was amazing but unfortunately when I was there they were under renovation and I didn't see the Eiffel Tower. The price for ice cave is included in the price of the cable car which is 43€ per person.
Andreea Jacot? — Google review
We loved this visit and the guided tour. You realise here how beautiful nature is. The caves are well preserved to make sure that they aren't being destroyed by tourism. The hike is very easy from the cable car. Superb views from the top of the mountain of the valley and lake. This is a must visit on a trip to Hallstatt.
Siddharth Aaron — Google review
Absolutely stunning, but...the walk to the entrance of the ice cave is a very steep path. Going up is hard, but going down is even worse. Also, inside the cave there are approximately 500 steps to navigate, and the temperature drops down to minus 3 degrees on the Celsius scale.
Rob van Arkel — Google review
This place was one of the highlights of our Hungary-Austria-Germany trip. We didn't even know it existed until our chateau owner suggested it, and we're so glad he did! The hike up to the gondola was gorgeous, and the ice cave itself was extremely cool. The whole thing was a great adventure for our pre-teens and teenagers as well -- fun for the whole family!
Three additional notes:
1. Make sure you pack a hoodie for everyone, and go in pants and sneakers. If you don't have a hoodie packed, you can buy one at the gift shop before you take the walk up to the gondola.
2. Plan to eat lunch at the restaurant that's close to the base of the cave. It offers a great view from the mountain and good German food! (Also, there's a restroom there.)
3. If you're traveling with someone who isn't very mobile, they'll need to skip this excursion. The whole experience took about 3 hours, and it's a LOT of walking. There is a cafe next to the gift shop, so people could wait there for you, but it would be a long wait.
Sara Snow — Google review
I liked the cave but I definitely did not like this performance style, just a let us walk through the cave and spare us of the effects and music ! :D
David Hor?k — Google review
The ice formations in the cave were great to see. We were expecting the tour to be about the history and geology of the caves which there was a bit of this. However we found the fake cave bears and the music & light show to be more about entertainment and it was what we would call “tacky”. Luckily it was a treat going further up the mountain and standing on the five fingers.
Lyn and Ross Weir — Google review
Beautiful. About 110 euros for a family of four including cable car and guided ice cave tour. 15mins uphill hiking to reach the entrance of cave after cable car.
changjiang8005 — Google review
How is it possible not to like? There are 2 caves: the Mammut one and the Giant Ice one. They have different opening hours. You have to take the cable car to the 1st stop. There is probably not time to do all in one day if you don't start early because 2nd stop has the 5 fingers viewing platform attraction and much more.
The temperature inside is really low, so there is no point in coming without a jacket. One of our crew needed to be escorted back because he was freezing, and this made us lose precious time. There is also quite a walk up and down there. It's totally worth it.

What an amazing experience, a must do when you're in the area! We took the cable car up to the mittelstation, from there it was about a 20 minutes hike (up the mountain) to the entrance of the cave. The tour through the cave was nice, not very professional but fun. The group was quite big, but not problem. The ice was incredible!
Do bring a jacket for inside, it's hot! But wearing shorts was fine.
Kirsten vdM — Google review
Very interesting guided tour inside the giant ice cave. The ice forms are magnificent. The length of the tour is 800 meters with cca. 500 stairs. It lasts about 50 minutes, you should not miss it anyway!
thomymiskolc — Google review
Just skip this part and spend more time on 5 fingers. If you come from a country that snow, the cave won't wow you. The snowmen I built as a kid were bigger than the ice in the cave. I am giving a 3 because the staffs worked hard and there are efforts on the lights. Overall it's a great disappointment.
Kar Law — Google review
Unbelievable! Gorgeous! Amazing! Worth the effort! Ice blocks 10 meters tall. Ice 25 meters deep! A hanging bridge with lit up caves and music in the background. Enjoyed every minute of it. Not an easy walk to it and many stairs in the cave itself.
Don Perkal — Google review
The tour was overturning to entertain, the bear the music the stops. You should let people just walk the ice cave, feel the place and that's all.
If you miss one tour you have to wait an hour.
Schloss Ort is a historical castle located on the edge of a lake and accessible via a causeway. It was constructed in 909, though it was rebuilt centuries later after suffering fire damage. The castle boasts beautiful rooms that are suitable for hosting conferences or private events. Its picturesque courtyard, late-Gothic external staircase, and sgraffito from 1578 make it an excellent spot for photography.
Relaxing walk, lovely scenery; cool spots for pictures.
Despite the cold weather, there was a great possibility to have a cup of coffee and warm punsh. What I'm missing as a way of tourists entertainment - a possibility to explore the Schloss itself.

Nice place to go for a walk by following the path from Gmunden. The place was Former hotel, now museum and a wedding spot. There is also a nice restaurant on the side with a mountain view! Definitely, worth visiting. To enter the museum you need to pay 5€. There is also a free parking area but you need to walk 5 - 10 minutes until the island.

Stopped by on the way to Hallstatt. Really nice stop. Good views, and a bit of history. It's about a 500m walk from the parking lot. There are places to also buy refreshments close to the parking lot.
There were a couple of questionable religious markings and depictions in and around over Xmas. Some of these could be perceived as blasphemies for certain Catholic and Christian derivatives of churches

very beautiful. The weather was perfect for us. It was sunny and looks amazing with the view of snow mountain at the side of the castle. As per local guide it is the most romantic place to marry for local people of vienna. It is worth to visit such a serene place.

This is such a beautiful and peaceful place. The little castle is fairly small but full of characters.
The body of water surrounding the castle makes this place look like a fairytale land when fogs over the area.
To get to here from Vienna takes quite awhile. You can drive your own vehicle or catch one of the bus tour.
Highly recommend by @winedinenvacay when Visiting Austria .

A beautiful location which brings a breath of life to those admiring it. The roads are clean, very well maintained, organized and loved by the community. There are local stores and tourist attractions nearby and lodgements.
Local internet stores are nearby for tourists who need a card loaded with Gbs.

This is one of the scenic locations on the tour package that we stopped by for about half an hour. Beautiful castle by the lake with a nice wooden bridge that leads to it. The tour guide mentioned that many Austrian Brides would love to take their wedding photos at this location due to the fairy-tale Scenic setup.
There seems to be a restaurant at the location so you may order a drink or food and sit by the lake to enjoy the scenery.
If the weather allows you may see the mountain in the shape of a person's face facing upward. I was advised that the majority of the time that face is blocked by the cloud so you may need to be very lucky to see the whole face.
The lake Traunsee is situated amidst scenic rocky cliffs, verdant mountains, and charming hamlets. This vast water body offers an array of activities ranging from hiking to swimming, making it an ideal destination for families or couples seeking a fun-filled vacation. The region boasts magnificent mountain ranges that add to its beauty. Visitors can also enjoy feeding swans or taking a cruise aboard the ships that ply the waters.
It's the perfect place to eat, hike, swim, run around, have fun with your family or the one, or just relax. There you'll see big, beautiful mountains. You can also feed swans, to go by ship, etc. It's up to you 😉

Gmunden is very beautiful and the lake is also wonderful, which is the deepest lake in Austria. You can walk around the lake, listen to the ringing of bells in the main square, shop at the farmers' market, and have coffee with the locals in the coastal restaurants. Parking is paid on weekdays, but with some walking (on a steep road), you can park for free on the "hill".
Definitely one of the top prettiest lakes I have visited. The water is so clear and the surroundings (mountains, trees, old buildings) are so beautiful. Lots of hiking options around

One of a kind experience, safe and fast, highly recommended! Disclaimer; the staff expects you to put on your own straps, which is obviously doable, but for first timers, it would be nice to receive the staff’s closer attention.
I recommend taking the flying coaster to arrive to the original starting point more easily (however, if you consider the prices too high, a 10 minutes walk will also do).

Nothing to complain about. Friendly staff, wonderful experience...just do it! 4 people can go at the same time and if you're in the vicinity, do try and check the availability in person, ignore the weather forecast or the website info. Maybe the waiting line was a bit bigger...I waited like 30m after I got equipped to actually ride and like another 30m for the coaster (but that is to be expected I guess). Also try the zip line + coaster...they go well together.

I love this place, you can visit the church or attend mass, after you can eat or drink in the restaurant, they are always nice. The souvenir store has interesting things and a little explanation so you get to know the history of the place a little better. You can also take a walk trough the gardens, they also have a store close to the by, which is more garden/decorations, and a mini market with fresh vegetables from their orchard, wine from their winery and some delicatessen. Bathroom and parking also available.

This is a very cute little gorge. I'm not in a very good shape but I was able to do the hike. The stairs made it much easier for me. It took us like an hour going up and down. We were there on a Monday afternoon in June so there were only four people besides us. So it was perfect. We didn't hike up to the lake. ... Didn't have enough energy for it sadly. 6 euros per person for the gorge is totally acceptable. The burgruin and the hike to the lake is free. The car park also

(Translated by Google) The gorge is well developed. There are constant hints as to where you can stay very quickly and quickly. Keyword “danger of falling rocks”.
The problem is that it is of course very steep in places. If you're fit you might be able to get past there quickly, but we quickly reached our limits and the green resting places were rather rare.
Still everything is doable.
What wasn't so good were the clues to the gorge in the forest area. What use is the map at the entrance with the marked hiking trails if the shortcuts in the forest area are not available?
We were under time pressure because a rainy area with a thunderstorm was coming over us. Steep paths with wet ground, plus uncertainty as to whether you're going in the right direction...
Please mark the signs on the forest paths as below at the entrance.

Nationalpark Kalkalpen is a vast 20,850-hectare mountain woodland area offering an array of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and skiing. The park features various trails like the Kalkalpen trail, Donausteig, Bohemian Forest's path of deceleration, and the Johannesweg. Cool park on the rainy day. The clouds, chilly temperature make it an enjoyable to walk. Not for everyone though, so check the weather before hand. Be prepared according to the forecast. There are hüttes and two camping places where you can stay practically for free - Biwakplatz Weißwasser and Steyrsteg. The Ebenforstalm is pretty amazing with overnight stay of 30 EUR (but with breakfast, shower and all the lining and blanket included, and it's new).

Admont Abbey Library in Austria is a stunning example of Baroque architecture and one of the largest monastic libraries in the world. The library holds over 70,000 volumes and boasts magnificent frescoes and sculptures that adorn its walls and ceilings. The highlight of the library is the impressive seven-part ceiling fresco by Bartolomeo Altomonte, which depicts the stages of human knowledge. Visitors to the library are awed by the beauty of its design and the wealth of knowledge contained within its walls. Overall, Admont Abbey Library is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

Plus collections of stones and animal species from around the world, some I believe are already extinct.

Very nice place! Close to RedBull Ring. They have several pool, outdoor pool, a restaurant and few resting auras and a well equipped shop if you forget to bring any of your bathing stuff. Really excellent spa. The hidden treasure here is the restaurant. It really looks like the "canteen" of any typical spa or family venue, but the food is EXCELLENT. The steak for example was perfectly cooked and could easily have been served in an expensive steak house. It even came with homemade spaghetti with lots of mushrooms. I almost called the chef over to shake their hand! Very very good!

Motorsport track offering driving experiences, vehicle displays & professional racing events.
One of the most beautiful locations of any track in the world, so beautiful!
Also I'm not a fan of flat circuits, and here I was not disappointed, the undulations are massive from the highest point to lowest must be a few hundred metres.
Beautifully maintained circuit, camping is available close just outside the front of the Circuit. The wall of champions is a very cool feature in the pedestrian tunnel under the start and finish straight from the welcome Centre. Which is also where they are displaying a few Redbull sponsored race cars and bikes.
Great view points, exceptional track.

Unforgettable experience during F1 event weekend.
I visited so far only few formula races in Europe and can compare Red Bull Ring with these venues only.
Overall event organization is excellent and view from general admission area is better than expected.
Logistic like fan shops, food and drink, toilets, tap water is below average and need better setup. Video walls are good point and there are a lot of them.
Sunday event is well planned and include so many additional entertainment parts, especially aero meeting before start of F1 race was astonish.
Goran Milosevic — Google review
Even without an actual race, there is a lot to see here! From the driving cars from different races, through the walk of fame, then up to pits for the stops during the F1 race! If you are in the area, make sure that you stop by and feel the spirit of Formula 1! After that - refresh for a coffee and visit the fan shop! You won't be disappointed!
Dimi Rogatchev — Google review
We booked and toured the Ring today and it was a wonderful experience. Our guide George was amazing and gave us a detailed explanation of how the races happen. Definitely coming back to watch the races as my daughter is a huge fan :-). We drove from Salzburg to the venue so for us it was a long drive almost 3 hrs each way, so I strongly suggest if you're planning to visit that you stay at Graz that's closer. Our drive though was beautiful and scenic with snow still scattered along certain spots it was a lovely sight.

Amazing place!! Last week I went to see the Austrian F1 GP in the Ring’s paddock and it was a unique experience. I was able to see several pilots, to walk in the pit lane and in the paddock and finally to make a tour around the track. Moreover the service was great, every member of the staff was polite and the crew was well organised. I really appreciated this weekend and I hope to come back next year!!

There are free guided visits in the "backstage" let's say. Totally worth the 2h trip from Vienna.
Check with them the schedule, i think it is every hour, but has to be checked.
Make sure to have time to check the shop, it closes at 6pm. Maybe before the tour just to be sure you get what you want.
We also had lunch at their restaurant, it was good and very nice service.

Visited for the Austrian MotoGP.
With good weather conditions its nice to sit at the shadow covered tribune. Entry was quite easy and fast.
For big events like this the parking is also easy and the colleagues are helping with parking and coordination.

Being a huge fan of F1 this was a great place to go to watch the whole weekend of F1.
Plenty going on between races and lots after.
Many options for food, little more priced than normal but it’s an enclosed event.
I was sat turn three which was a nice walk up.
Was hoping they would open the whole circuit to walk after the race, the main straight and corners were opened.
Parking is free but no control over the exit, every car for its self and over 45 mins to reach the exit every day. Their were staff could direct cars better. They should cordon the lanes of better to encourage people to drive better.
Will return again
Scott Walmsley — Google review
Visited this place many times and each time is a different experience. If there are events (not F1) entry is free of charge, you can walk on pit lane and see the cars or you can watch them racing from the restaurant. Also the shop is a place were you can’t leave empty handed.

4-11-23. Came here for the tour of the track and just to experience the up close look at thr track.
Bulls lane was pretty good for lunch. We sat on the start finish line.
Geno Jessmone — Google review
Parking for the F1 event is an absolute mess when the event ends. I would recommend to stay inside watching other categories end or rush on the exit. Otherwise people do not respect and it is an absolute chaos when using the two unique exists for the parking.
Despite so, parking is free. The RedBull ring has incredible views and weather. It is in a ‘valley’ giving it a cool environment.
You can almost see the whole circuit from any stand on the first and second sector.
Also there are cool things to do inside, although fan zone is relatively small. There are plenty of toilets (a lot), things are quite clean despite the many drinks the dutch people take.
Water on toilets is clean and you can drink from it, is cold as well.
There is a lot of preparation for rain too. It is easy to walk without getting yourself dirty.
Circuit is small and you can walk through it with relative ease, because they divide the walking flow into two paths.
You can bring your metallic bottles inside to watch the Formula 1 event!

Caution:
1. Wear proper clothing and shoes (most important)
2. Climb is steep at some places so be prudent with your energy (in case you are amateur climber)
3. Watch your steps as you climb as it’s slippery at some places.

The bridge is closed on the other side (you can goo to it, but at the end of it you need to go back) and there was no waterfall visible, probably in January it is too less water.

Top place to visit. One of the Top destinations in 🇦🇹 Austria. This is ensured by a breezy wooden bridge, numerous wooden staircases and bridges, 10 intoxicating waterfalls, a wonderful view over the valley. The hike can not be done with a pushchair and with small kids as well.

Beautiful walk with spectacular view - be prepared for +300 meter climb on wodden stairs and bridges. We thought about bringing our labrador with us, but decided to leave him at home, which was a good idea. Some of the stairs are really steep and walking down on them will be difficult for a dog. Nice restaurant at the entrance provided a well deserved cold beer and a nice baked potato with a lot of good stuff on top 🙂

Great short hiking trip suitable for children as well. The road takes you through a canyon with plenty of waterfalls and amazing scenery. The full trip to the hilltop is about 1.5-2 hrs depends on how often you take breaks and photos. Parking is challenging by the road, be ready. Coming from Vienna by public transport yesterday (28.10.2023) to find the resort decided to not run the lift was not the greatest way to start my day. If you state you'll be open in good weather you should be open. There were many people confused that you did not open.
The area is very nice for hiking and I expect should be nice for skiing as well.

Cute little ski resort. I love that it never gets too crowded. I could find quite diverse slopes with interesting interconnects even if they were not the longest slopes. The food at Schutzenhaus is also delicious.
Raul Grigora?cu — Google review
Best for families, beginner skiers but as well as for a group of friends who are advanced skiers.
In case of latter 4 days are the max from my perspective due to the 20km of slopes (p.s.: your ski pass is also valud for other smaller ski resorts in the area but due to the hot weather those were closed).
Even given the effect of global warming we had quality snow.
One of the best value/money in Austria and not just in case of the ski pass, but in case of accommodation and restaurants as well.
Péter Takács — Google review
Small skiresort which would be nice, but the children/beginner slopes located separately from the rest which makes it very unconvinient at the same time too small for advanced skiers for a holiday of 3 days or more. In addition a bit expensive both for tickets and afterski. Not really recommended

We were lucky with the weather but wind picked up in the afternoon. Snow was perfect, slopes empty and no waiting times at the lift. However for experieced skiers the slopes are a bit short, but perfect for families. One of the lifts closed in the afternoon just after lunch and we couldn't go on our favorite slope later that day.

Wonderful local ski resorts for intermediate of beginner skiers. The lodge has fanatic food and the prices are more than fair. Great parking options while we were there a couple days before Christmas. The lifts are a little slow but the slopes were great and mostly to ourselves

Great ski resort, with really good snow(Christmas day), not too packed, hard to get there with public transportation.
Had a good sunny day. Even though there was already 120cm of snow still some slopes were closed (blue slopes) ski lifts are good except if it's snowing and cold, there is no cover/dome to the chair lifts.
A small resort yet cheap and affordable.
Very special adventure. It’s the biggest taxi on Earth. ;) 🌍 we can suggest it!

Interesting mine visit with good English audio guide. The hauly trip was not worth the price however as it was very short and the audio guide is badly implemented as it doesn't follow what you're seeing and its not easy to follow with the german guide speaking. Not that spectacular as well, in my opinion. Didn't think the Geological explanations were implemented as good either, was hoping to hear more about the conditions under which it formed and the former landscape.

A visit to the source of Austria's best beer will not only delight beer connoisseurs: The redesign of the Gösser Braumuseum brings technical refinements through the collaboration with Ars Electronica and the charm of past decades can be captured with rarities and exhibits!
Interesting facts about beer, the brewing and Gösser in particular you will find at the brewery with over a thousand years of history, of course, clenched. And yet the Gösseum is something very special: here, as in those days, beer is brewed here - with passion, enjoyment and ambition!
In order to experience the Gösseum with all senses, a registration is strongly recommended! The trained staff accompanies small and larger groups through the venerable walls to the enjoyable conclusion of the tour: freshly tapped Gösser with Bierbreze!

The Piber Federal Stud is a historic breeding and training complex for the famous Lipizzaner horses of the Spanish Riding School. While it is an idyllic location, there are areas that require improvement such as differing visit hours from those on the website, insufficient parking signage on the stud, and no current shows or exhibits showcasing animal handling. However, visitors can still learn about and view these beautiful horses. It's conveniently located near Hundertwasser Church and offers scenic mountain hiking paths.

The Piber Stud Farm is dedicated to the breeding of the famous Lipizzaner Stallions, which perform at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. 60,000 people visit here annually, where they meet the breeding mares, see the foals, and learn about the breeding process and how these gangly little horses are turned into the renown Lipizzaner Stallions. When the foals are 4, those that qualify are sent to the school for training.
When they are 10, and have passed the exacting training standards, they are ready to perform.
When they are roughly 25, they again retire to peacefully age at Piber. All along the way there is the best of care and standards, so that only the best perform.
The grounds include the Castle, which once was the home of Franciscan monks. It now houses admin offices, restrooms, and a courtyard which can be rented for events.
There is plenty of parking, and a snack shop selling some nice gelato.

its a nice idyllic place for sure. But some things need to be improved. a) the visit hours for the guided tours are different than on the website. b) parking is not put up with signs if u are on the stud, and the websites loaction point brings u to the center of the stud where u cant park and c) currently no shows and nothing to see how they work with the animals. But again. its nice to learn about the Lipizans and see them.

Sights are great, horses are incredible.
But.
Territory is rather small and there's not much to see. And the restaurant needs more waiters (they were too busy to bring us coffee in 30 minutes)
Denys Holovin — Google review
The place is only interesting for historical reasons and reputation.
In fact, no show or demonstration is presented.
You can only walk around and read the signs.
Not so interesting !
There is a guided tour only in German.

Such a good place to visit! nice distance after you visited Hundertwasser Church. Also good for a walking behind the Piber Federal Stud in the mountain hiking paths.

I was a dressage rider and loved seeing where and how they are raised. The back dirt road over the mountain from Innsbruck was quite the treat.
Hunderwasser was a really talented man, was able to add a joyful twist to even such a serious topic like a church. Symbols of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Judaism co-existing in peace in the same garden. Faboulous!
Ágnes Nemeth — Google review
A very unorthodox Catholic Church in Barnbach, Austria, St. Barbara's, was completely re-designed, both inside and out, including the grounds, by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, in 1987-’88. Father Zeck (the assigned priest at the time) wanted an entire revamping of the church and the grounds and gave Hundertwasser free reign over the design. The result of his work that one sees here today, was obvious and controversial to all passersby. It is free to visit inside and there is free parking.
Our tour director called this a 'Hidden Treasure' because many tours miss it, but it was easy enough to find and quite interesting to view.

Nice place to relax and go for a swim! The two hour drive from Vienna makes it a good summer getaway even for a day trip! Also dog friendly. Make sure you arrive early enough during the summer peak because parking can be difficult.

Awsum location, 2hr drive scenic drive from Vienna through the Mariazell region. Sometimes windy but if u get a chance on a bright sunny day, then u will not forget and would want to come back and relax. Not frequented by tourists. Ample Paid Parking (take change - coins) space. Take your mats and snacks to enjoy a relaxed day napping in the sun and sound of waves crashing the beach.. beautiful...

Very nice lake in the middle of Austria with a lot of animation options for both adults and children. There are different playgrounds at the beach, there is a beach bar where you can eat or drink something, you can rent a boat to explore the lake or you can just have a nice walk around the lake. Erlaufsee is located next to a camping and is easy to access for motorbikes.

It was a big challange to climb up the stairs under the sun and 30 degrees. But very spectacular and sometimes you have the feeling you want to walk into the water or stand under the waterfall just for some minutes.

Very cool hike. We weren't sure what to expect as it was a last minute plan, but it was a very cool climb up the ladders and walkways. Bring good shoes, as it was very slippery and muddy. Remember the 3.50 entry fee, which goes towards the maintenance and upkeep of the ladders. Hard to imagine how climbers risked their lives building it in the first place, but fascinating to see. Enjoy a coffee and cake at the restaurant on top!

Really beautiful nature, you have to see it, but terrain is physically demanding. It is not recommended for small children and for people with some moving handicap. Dogs aren't allowed at all.

Great walk 4 hour round trip from car park, to start of falls, up to top and the bar then back down again via the mountain path. Do not take a 🐶 dog, there are 164 ladders !peaceful walk not to many people when I did it . Best after rainfall.
steven wilkinson — Google review
Unprepared visitors beware! Beautiful trail, but it is not for beginners.
Having said that, it is a whole day worth walk/climb.
The first km (from the car park to the entrance) is a steep walk, but that is just a mild start of what is ahead.
There are 164 ladders, some of them are layed almost horizontally, but mostly in a ladder fashion. You need to climb all these, turning back is not an option. (too narrow).
On top, there is a restaurant, but take cash, card is not accepted.
The walk back is nice, however mostly on rocky surface, accidental misstep (and your legs are already tired like hell) can cause injuries.
Bring proper footwear! And count 5 hours minimum for the trip.
Mihály Bobály — Google review
Wonderful place with narrow paths above waterfalls... Don't forget your tracking shoes and raincoat! At the top there is a good restaurant (hütte) with toilet and place to rest.

Spectacular canyon in the Alps. You are needed to be in a good shape to get even to the entrance due it's located one hour walk uphill from the parking lot. And the real climbing just starts there. The canyon is only 5 kms long but its altitude is 740 meters. Built up all the way long, you don't need any special equipment to make it just two strong legs. No dogs allowed, but it is understandable.
Eggenberg Palace is a museum located in the Graz historic district and it features painted ceiling panels and landscaped gardens. The palace was once the home of a powerful family and its influence on the political, economic and above all artistic development of Graz for centuries is well-known.
Attractive palace and gardens - probably the best in Graz. There are some exhibitions in the upper floors, but it is worth to go around even if you are not interested in museums or art. There is separate entrance fee for the park.

It was the end of October, but a sunny warm day, lots of people visiting the castle. Getting into the garden took a few minutes, but we only got ticket for the 2pm guided tour. The park is splendid, kids played in the playground in the corner and we took the 50 minute tour of the castle. I say it was worth it, the guide was really good, and it did not felt a long tour. Lot we learned about the castle and the history for the family. I can only recommend.

I loved everything about this castle!! The staff is nice, the gardens and everything. I was there in March when the garden was not blooming so I would recommend to go in May, but it was also nice. The castle is not open for visita during a winter. You can’t visit the rooms without a guided tour, but it was really cool, the tour guide was great and explained everything really well and was really interesting! Also, you can’t take pictured inside the castle. Once you buy a 24 hour ticket it is also working for other museums in town. You can see that they really care about the castle and it’s history which ja really nice :) This is a must see when you come to Graz! 😁😁

Do not only visiti the park. You should go for the tour with the guide, the inside of the castle is magnificent and they talk about the history of the castle for one hour, because the castle is so big and you walk through a lot of rooms which are original and really beautiful. You can not take pictures in the closed rooms which are protected by UNESCO.

Love this palace! Great tour and gardens! Come a little early to make sure you get tickets for the tour. Most hours in English or German. Have a coffee and cake at the small gazebo cafe in the gardens. In the spring, the peacocks will show off their plumage.
Philippa Gates — Google review
We happened to arrive about 5 minutes before they were running a tour in English which we bought tickets for. You have to pay €2 to view the grounds but this is taken off the price of the tour if you choose to do it (which I would recommend). Our tour guide was informative and personable, and the rooms were well maintained - the planetary room alone is worth the price of the ticket.
We were informed by our guide that they're doing quite a bit of restoration work in preparation for the 400th anniversary next year.

The Schloßberg is a park in the city of Graz, Austria, with a funicular railway going to the top. It is especially beautiful on the hill overlooking the city, with several good points of interest: the Rosengarten at the foot of the clock tower or Hackerlo as a background for your next picture on Instagram and no one has complained about it yet.
Strongly recommend to walk by foot to get there if you have a nice day. Really worth the effort. A nice panorama terrace with food and drinks will help you relax and enjoy the trip

My visit to Schlossberg Graz in 2018 was an unforgettable experience that showcased the historical charm and natural beauty of this Austrian landmark. Perched high above the city of Graz, this iconic castle hill offers breathtaking panoramic views, historical sites, and a tranquil escape from the bustling city below.
The ascent to Schlossberg was an adventure in itself. I opted for the Schlossbergbahn funicular, which provided a scenic and comfortable journey to the top. Alternatively, one can choose to climb the stairs or hike through the lush greenery, which adds an element of excitement and exercise to the visit.
Arriving at the top, I was greeted by awe-inspiring vistas of Graz and its surroundings. The view from the Clock Tower was particularly enchanting, offering an unobstructed view of the red rooftops, historic landmarks, and the majestic Schlossberg Park below.
The park itself was a serene haven, with beautifully landscaped gardens, hidden pathways, and charming nooks that invited me to sit and soak in the tranquil atmosphere. It was a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a picnic amidst nature's splendor.
Exploring the historical sites on Schlossberg was like delving into the city's past. The ancient ruins of the original castle, the Bell Tower, and the Glockenspiel added a touch of nostalgia and a sense of connection to the history of Graz.
In addition to the history and natural beauty, Schlossberg also featured a few cozy cafes and restaurants, allowing me to indulge in delicious local cuisine while savoring the stunning backdrop.
The accessibility of Schlossberg, with multiple entry points and options to suit every visitor's preference, makes it an attraction suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.
In conclusion, Schlossberg Graz is a must-visit destination that combines history, nature, and panoramic views in a truly captivating manner. The experience of being on top of the world and immersing oneself in the city's rich heritage makes it a five-star attraction in my book. If you find yourself in Graz, Schlossberg is an absolute highlight that should not be missed.

A wonderful place to visit. There are several options for getting to it: stairs or an elevator, there is even a slide when going down. The tunnel to the elevator and the elevator are modern, even futuristic. At the top, you will be greeted by a wonderful panoramic view of Graz and the surrounding area. A lot of buildings that have historical weight, a restaurant, a covered concert space - during the summer there are performances by classical musicians who perform selected works, even two bars and a museum. Before leaving, check the opening hours of the museum. The gardens are beautifully landscaped. Going down the stairs is a special experience, and I definitely recommend it. In order not to break the spell with a detailed description and my own impressions, in the end I am only free to give my warm recommendation to everyone to visit this wonderful place.

We went in the afternoon/evening as a big group. The whole atmosphere was amazing, some chose to climb up and some to take the elevator. Some of us even opted to go up and down with the slide and back up again. (It's good to have all these versatile options for individual needs) The slide was amazing, I've never seen anything like it and it was so much fun!
The night view from on top of the Schlossberg was also amazing. I can definitely recommend going up once during the day and once for the night view.

We opted for walking up the stairs (alternatives being the delivery service or the cable lift). The cold wind didn't help our cause! The stairs felt almost infinite and quite steep.

And the hill itself doesn't only hold the Schloss and the clock tower but a beautiful plateau, lush gardens, a restaurant and the most amazing view of Graz.
The Old Town of Graz is a beautiful historic city center located in the southern Austrian state of Styria. It's listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its iconic landmarks, such as the Schlossberg and the Archbishops Palace. The historical town square surrounded by medieval buildings and featuring a bronze statue of a punk is one of the best tourist attractions in Graz, Austria. There are market stalls here where you can buy juices and juicy sausages with mustard, as well as scenes from the heart of the city. You will walk through this square at least 300 times during your visit to Graz, so make the most of it!

The main square in Graz (Hauptlatz) is a lovely place to visit.
If you want traditional Austrian Fayre or food there are plenty of street vendors.
Shopping is great too with major retailers plus local Austrian goods.
No cars but plenty of trams to hop on and off, oh and if you like to have a meal in a restaurant, there's plenty.
A little walk from the main square and you're at the river side (Mur).

You can see that the place have a little bit old equipment, but the animals were in great condition, which is more important. It was really fun being chased by the baby chickens for food 😃and the monkey was not in a great mood. But every other animal was really friendly and they let you pet them. It was really nice experience.

If you like animals, you must visit this place. We like this zoo. The area is really large, there are a lot of different animals.
If you want, you can buy food there and feed the animals, as well as play with the animals.
There is also a children's playground where your children can play while you eat pizza and fries in the cafe.
You can watch a short video about this zoo -https://youtu.be/ZyX7WeNmlj0

Dont expect a fancy park - ist a so it yourself park with his own charm. It looks a bit worn out (especially at the entrance), but you can spent there half a day with interesting animals. There are several playgrounds in the area which my little one enjoyed.

Actually i liked this place. Nice little zoo with a cosy restaurant. But there is this thing with zoos, i do not know if the animals are comfortable with living there and gettin observed like that. Also i didnt like the pizza in the restaurant. Coffee and ice was good.
Update 2022:
It is still a nice trip for kids, but it feels like there is some maintenance missing especially for the childrens playground.

It’s not bad… personally, I think 5 Euros for a medium sized bucket of animal feed is just way too much, it costs around 50 cents and 3 Euros would be a fair price… we liked the animals. The fences were too high for safe animals like goats - we couldn’t even pet them in most areas but could easily do this in other areas in the country…

It was fun, but some of the animals seem listless. It's definitely a Tiger King sort of local experience. It's worth checking out but, yeah. Lots of goats. Perhaps too many goats. It was fun to feed the racoons and deer.

We were visiting for the very first time.
Great place with a lot of friendly animals.
You can feed them, there is a lot of natural shade, so you are not exposed to the sun all the time.
Nice playgrounds for the kids.
Kids would love it.
Really clean and nice.
There is also a restaurant, so you can have a coffee or eat something.
It is Yes from me.
