Waterfalls
Series of waterfalls amid towering rock walls, with a large natural swimming pool.
Please note that the main waterfalls are not accessible directly from the road adjacent to where it is marked on Google maps. At this location there is a picnic area where you can access the river, but the waterfalls are further west. In order to access the main falls, drive up/down M9-1 and head east up the river at the point marked "Villa Park" on Google Maps. From here it is a 2 or 3km drive along gravel road (ok for 2WD in summer). There is a parking area. We found the main waterfall quite busy - you can buy snacks and refreshments there. I would suggest climbing up to the higher falls for some peace and quiet (there are about 3 more you can reach). The track on the north side is easy to follow, with support for hand/foot holds, so quite easy to do. Very nice spot

Beautiful experience. You can go pretty deep with small Via Ferratas. To explore all, I would bring climbing gear.
Unfortunately a lot of garbage everywhere.
Martin Nilson — Google review
Beautiful place, lots of falls. But difficult climb up to upper falls. Lower fall has a great view.
The lower fall experience was wrecked by a coffee shop blaring pop music where I would much rather listen to the falls. Garbage was everywhere.

If you go on kosovo, you have to see that miracle. I have stayed in hotel restorant "Ujevara e Drinit" and it was worth it. 15 minutes walk with an amazing view.

An absolute beauty with 13 magic waterfalls (only the first one is accesable if You visit Mirusha with familly and childrens, the 12 other waterfalls needs climbing)
Mirusha one of the best european waterfalls for my oppinion but the road to it is not fully accesable and that minus goes to Kosovo tourism ministry.
Otherwise Mirusha is a nature absolute beauty.

Shame really

This are coordinates to refere when you navigate to Mirusha waterfalls 42.523641,20.576897
Navigating to any other will get you lost in the mountains and in the surrounding villages .As per nature, it is wonderful .Watch your steps it is an unsafe climbing path and a slippery

Perfect place to relax, swim, take a boat and take a 15 stroll up the canyon. However, google map doea not show the correct way of going to Mirusha waterfall. To get there, take the road from Klina to Gjakova. Afyer passing a petrol station on your right and Guri i Zi restaurant there is a slip road on the left with a hidden sign to Mirusha waterfalls. Take that slip road and ask people on yoyr way because the road is not an asphalt road and you can get lost if you follow google map instructions.

Natural beauty, still untouched by commercial activity (though small coffee place there). Road leading there is unpaved, noticed upgrade work going on. I spent not more than 30 minutes there because no place for activity. But if you love some adventure you can climb the hills around the waterfalls.

The Prizren Fortress, formerly the capital of the Serbian Empire, is a medieval castle situated on a hill with picturesque views. It is highly recommended to visit while in town and it's surprising that entry is free without tickets required. The castle offers a calming atmosphere for visitors to sit and enjoy stunning views of the city from above. Its blend of original and reconstructed features showcases its phenomenal evolution through history as seen on informative plaques around the fortress.
Highly recommend to visit when you are in town. It takes only 15 minutes to reach the point and the most surprising thing is that it’s free!!!! No ticket required.
I stayed in Prizren for 3 nights and I went every day. It’s just so nice and calm to just sit on the castle and look the city from the top.
It reminds me of the castle in Naples, Italy. Definitely one of the best sunset in the world!
Hannah Chiu — Google review
A must visit for tourists and locals.
1) the location overlooks the city and the forest
2) the location is difficult to get to due to the steep uphill walk. Yet it’s not impossible if the sun wasn’t hot.
3) beautiful views and buildings from within the walls
4) it has access to hiking paths within the forest
Highly recommended

The fortress offers a variety of points of interest to explore. The Prizren Fortress is a captivating historical site that offers a glimpse into Kosovo's past while providing stunning views of the city and its surroundings. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply seeking a peaceful spot to admire the scenery, the Prizren Fortress is a must-visit destination in Prizren.

Amazing views of the town and only 15-20 minutes. I’ve tried to post photos of the route in order. It’s an ok fortress, but the views are fantastic
David de Pater — Google review
In this castle 🏰 all by myself was the greatest meditation I've experienced in awhile. The mixture of original and reconstruction is phenomenal. The plaques allow the understanding of the fortress, history and the evolution.
Susan Slavik — Google review
I took the long loop along the river and through the forest. Took an hour at a nice leisurely pace. You can see the trail on google maps. Totally worth it if you have the time vs the 20min steep walk up from the town. You can walk down that way rather. Highly recommend timing this to arrive for a wonder and then sit to watch the sunset. Fantastic views.
Ceyda Soral — Google review
Such a lovely view from the top. It’s only a 15 min walk from the center and there’s a snack shop at the top or even a hotel part way up if you want a beer on the way back down.

Needs updating as walkways are dangerous in places. No charge to get in, but I would rather pay a small fee if it could be used to maintain the place
Steep walk up and treacherous coming down, but worth it for the views.
Steev Allan — Google review
Exceeded expectations. The highlight is the brilliant views in many directions, but it's also nice to wander around over the walkways and learn more about the fortress' history through the information signs (although some were unreadable due to wear and tear). The walk up there is steep and probably slippery when it rains / strenuous if it's very hot.
Corine Bos — Google review
Its a breathtaking place where you can see the whole city from up! High recommended!
Lirim Thaci — Google review
To get there is one heck of a climb. While arebically challenging, it is well worth the 30 minutes or so to get there. Longer if you need to rest and am guessing the grade for the first half to be about a 40% tilt. The history contained at the top has has some modern touches such as electrical and plumbing conduits installed and that takes away some of the third century feel seeing modern touches added directly through thr ancient walls and outsides. The views are breathtaking to say the least. The view of Prizren and the surrounding area is something you will not forget. Well worth your time to visit.
Marty Hogan — Google review
Prizren Fortress.. my favorite place in Prizren. I visited it 3 times on my 1.5 day stay. It’s free and the view is incredible!! You see all of Prizren, the surrounding towns and distant mountains. It’s the best place to watch the sunset. Also you can climb up on different wall sections. Different ways to get there… the shortest way (but steepest way) goes through cobbled streets in old town and keep climbing, past Trini cafe, and a few more meters of incline until you get to the fortress entrance. They is route takes about 15 mins, depending how often you take breaks. There is also a nice walk through a tree covered path about 2.85 mile long, during the first half you’re following the river, then by Panorama restaurant you take the unpaved/gravel path on a gradual incline to the fortress. The path is wide, shades gray trees and there’s at least 2 natural springs/drinking spring along the way. I’ve also seen some people drive up in cars, ATV and mopeds, but I think walking is still the best option and you feel so accomplished when you get to the top.
I went up on a rainy day, in the early afternoon and at sunset.
joy asumen — Google review
The castle itself may not be much to look at, but the 15 minute walk from the old city is worth it for the views of the mountains and plains. See how the river provided a natural barrier from enemies and take a few pictures. Count the minarets across the city below. It's a magical vista.
Kevin D Sherman — Google review
It is a VERY steep walk uphill to reach the fortress. It took about 15 minutes to reach. The path is clearly signed. I wouldn’t want to do this walk in rain or cold weather where the path would get slippery and dangerous, especially on the way down. The fortress itself is cool, and has a fantastic view across Prizren and the surrounding mountains. It is free to enter. It’s a really special view. There are a few information signs but they are quite limited in information. There are some broken planks in the walkways so be careful when exploring the fortress.
J K — Google review
Beware: it’s quite a walk uphill 🥲
It’s around 2 km uphill, and it was quite tiring for us (non hikers).
The view is quite spectacular, I definitely recommend to go up when it’s cloudy, as it gets quite overwhelming when it’s sunny.
We liked the fortress but there wasn’t a tour guide around, nor signs or posters to tell us more about the place itself.
Overall nice though.
Rayan Ali — Google review
Breathtaking views for such a short hike. There is no entrance fee, but the premises are clean and well maintained.
Eldion Nevruzi — Google review
Look for the guy that works at the fortress. He'll show you around and tell you some fascinating historical facts. It's a bit steep climb so dress appropriately.
Shpend Sadriu — Google review
This is a nice fortress with a wonderful view. If you can get there during a call to prayer it is phenomenal to hear all of the calls echo across town from each of the different mosques. It's not a long hike, but it is a steep one uphill. There's no way to drive there. The walk is not for anyone who is not in fairly decent shape.
Jan Smith — Google review
From the stone bridge this is about a 700 meter walk up a very steep but wide path. The path is paved with blocks and in good condition. It's not a bad walk except for being steep. There is a second path that comes up the mountain behind the castle. That path goes east a ways before descending to the valley and then doubling back to town along the river. That path is not steep at all. It's an easy walk but from the castle back to town is about an hour. If you are short on time take the front route up and down. Otherwise I would recommend climbing the front route and then walking the back route back to town. As to the castle itself, there are great views and it is very much worth the climb. As someone else mentioned, try to be here during the call to prayer. It's really something hearing the recitations coming from all directions while up there at the castle.

The Albanian League of Prizren, also known as Muzeu Lidhja Shqiptare e Prizrenit, is considered the birthplace of modern Albanian nationalism. The museum complex is housed in the buildings where the league met and showcases paintings and sculptures depicting the Albanian national struggle.
1 euro entry, some interesting articles , but not much information to read and learn about in contrast to the comments in the reviews.
Learnt about the main figures and that was about it. There is an ethnographic museum and a gallery of images depicted of mostly that era.
Building has been recreated in the ssme location as you will see on the plaque

Happy to have seen it.
Provides a glimpse of Albanian history, heroes and traditional pieces left by the times gone past.
The Turkish guy inside served me a cup of coffee, chatted for almost an hour and witnessed his astonishing wit!

Very small museum housed to two buildings on opposite sides of the compound. Good historical paintings upstairs in the larger one. The compound is open 24H but the museum is just open a few hours in the late morning into the afternoon.

Small museum with two buildings. One has some interesting regional costumes. I love the woolen socks

A very small museum (1 euro entry) about the history of Albanian nationalism in the 18-19th century. There are some nice original photos and some telegrams/documents in English, but very little interpretation. According to a sign on the ground floor, the original building was bulldozed by Serbian forces in early 1999 but rebuilt in the same style later the same year.

En. - The Albanian League of Prizren was an Albanian political organization officially founded on June 10, 1878. At the meeting the Albanian leaders emphasized their intention to preserve and maintain the territorial integrity of the Ottoman Empire in the Balkans by supporting the "to struggle in arms to defend the wholeness of the territories of Albania". This initial position has changed radically and resulted in demands of autonomy of Albanians and open war against the Ottoman Empire.

I visited Prizren in July 2015. It’s a small city which has combination of mountain view, river, well planned houses and roads as well as all other amenities that a modern vibrant city should have. All famous restaurants are located near the river side. The city is an hour distance from Prishtina, capital city of Kosovo. You will surely feel more buoyant in such picturesque city.

It was a very small one. Nothing very special but since the enterance fee is 1 eur you may check the place
The Sinan Pasha Mosque, an impressive Ottoman mosque, was constructed in 1615 with intricate designs of Quranic verses and floral patterns adorning its walls and dome. The vicinity around the mosque offers coffee and souvenir shops to visitors. It is a sight not to be missed when visiting Prizren as it boasts serene cleanliness and beauty that is equally breathtaking during both day and night time. Ramadan provides a unique opportunity for those seeking an unforgettable experience at the mosque.

Traditional design mosque. There are some benches around to sit. On the other side it's mainly surrounded by some stands selling souvenirs. You can take some good pictures. The road up to the fortress starts around the corner
Thomas Vermeulen — Google review
A traditional-design mosque, nothing outstanding, but still impressive-looking from the outside and in a good location for photos of the city. You can go inside if you take your shoes off and are modestly dressed. Inside there are a few nice decorations on the walls, but like most mosques it's relatively plain, as worshippers are expected to focus on praying.

I didn't see anything special about this mosque, other than the fact that it was built of the stones from a old church. Not particularly beautiful inside or outside, but it's situated at a good location and makes a good backdrop for a photo of the bridge.

Monastery Visoki Decani, founded in the early 14th century by Serbian king Stefan Decanski, is nestled amidst picturesque surroundings of mountains and lush pine and chestnut trees. The church's interior boasts breathtaking floor-to-ceiling Biblical murals, making it one of Europe's most stunning churches. Accessible by regular buses between Gjakova and Peja, visitors are required to present their passport upon entry.
A beautiful and well preserved monastery established during the 14th century. Very spiritual and so much beauty to see inside and outside. Famous for its architecture, detailed ornaments and frescas describing the biblical stories. ⛪🙏🏼
If you're going to see the objects of ufo seen in documentary films, they are up the wall and you will be disappointed, because it's a made up story, what actually represents is the moon and the sun, and not flying saucers. 🌕🌞

It's a wonderful monastery to visit. Lying between Gjakova and Peja it is easily accessible by regular and frequent buses going between those towns. You must take your passport and it will be held until you exit the complex and hand in your visitor pass. The guards are perfectly friendly and helpful. Photography allowed outside the church but not inside. Books with pictures available at 7 euro. Frescoes are the main event here and are fabulous. It's a 2.5km walk from the centre of Decani town where the buses stop. It is a town with all facilities.

Valbona Valley National Park is a remote wilderness located in the Albanian Alps, boasting an extensive pristine ecosystem, hiking trails and viewpoints. The area features stunning high peaks similar to those found in Slovenia or Austria. Visitors are recommended to hike uphill on solid ground and downhill on more challenging terrain around Valbona peak, while staying an extra day to fully appreciate the beauty of this incredible place. Can any one imagine such places exist in our country? Well yes, god was generous and he gave us the sea and the mountain within a short distance. Amazing place, breathtaking views, nature lovers must see it. Green views all the way. I wanted to swim once I arrived to the island but the water was so cold 🥶 😁. Phenomenal lake! Unbelievable colours and breathtaking views. Definitely worse to visit!
Anton Zahurdaiev — Google review
- Do not try to take the tunnel by car, unless you need/want to take the Komani Ferry. The tunnel is not wide enough to be a 2 way road + the amount of parking space at the end of the tunnel is very minimal (+-20 spots). Just park somewhere before the tunnel and go through the tunnel by foot.
- The price right now is about 2000 lek per person for a group boat tour, starting at the Komani Ferry pickup point. Watch out for some dodgy salesmen who will try to charge you more (2500-3000 lek) for the exact same boat tour
- At the furthest point of the boat tour you will get some spare time (2-3 hours) to explore the area until they start the return. If you don’t like the music/crowdyness in the first part, definitely keep walking further on the stone beaches until you see some less crowded spots. Plenty of space for everyone!

The lake is beautiful itself, but why don't the Albanian people care about it? there are several houses by the lake that throw out huge amounts of rubbish. You are swimming on a beautiful lake and next to a shampoo, soap bottles etc.. Protect your natural goods! It was hard to take a picture without a rubbish.

Amazing views, but you have to raise your head because there is more floating trash that i have ever seen in europe. Those who benefit from tours should respect nature, but seems that nobody cares. I thought I am in Ko Phi Phi in Thailand. The boat terminal is hard to reach. Takes about 1-1,5 hour from the main road. The road is in really bad condition, but its really worth it. At the terminal You can take a boat to Shala river. Takes about 1 hour. There You have 3-4 hours of free time and can go back. This place is still not discovered. We meet only Albanians. Nice to see before mass tourism will discover this place.

We used ALPIN CAR ferry ⛴👍🏼 this is the only one big and proper ferry on Koman lake.
Departure from Koman at 12 afternoon and from Fierze at 9 in the morning. 30 minutes prior departure is the recommended time of arrival to the pier.
Personal advise: when you depart from Koman let at least (!) 1.45 hour from the main road turn to the pier - road is bumpy and a lot of turns. Real mountain road. The average speed (September 2017) 27-30 km/h. So calculate accordingly ☝🏼
Sent email for the reservation on Alpin ferry from their website - reply and the confirmation came in an hour. On the pier the team was speaking English and had our booking details. Everything went smoothly. The crew and the captain 👩✈️ are very careful and attention-full. We had a car - 23€/3000 lek one way charge and per passenger 8€/1000 lek. We paid in euro and the guys gave the change in euro (!) which was very convenient 👍🏼
The trip took 2.45 hours
Smooth and beautiful scenery 😍
Definitely advise 👍🏼✌🏼

(Translated by Google) The ferry carries excess vehicles and people, do not think that it is a tourist trip, getting to the ferry is an ordeal, 25 km along a destroyed road, once on board there is no room for so many people, you have to stand. I don't give it a ZERO because it can't be done. Like cattle in a truck on the way to the slaughterhouse. In the European Community it would be unthinkable.

(Translated by Google) We were very disappointed with the ticket master's approach and manners. Very untypical for Albania. When we arrived at the ferry port, he offered us a ferry ticket for the following day (11:00 a.m.). After we parked our vehicle and wanted to buy the ticket 4 minutes later, we were told by the ticket master that he had just sold it elsewhere and that there were no more tickets for the following day. The ferry is sold out. This unfriendly treatment and the fact that there is no information that you have to book the ferry in advance made us angry. The travel guide said that ferries run between Koman and Fierza every day. But this is NOT the case. A ferry leaves every day at 11:00 a.m. - this could be communicated better. For example, when entering the valley to the ferry.

From this port there are boat trips on Lake Koman and Shala, you have to negotiate the price with the "commercials" which in the end were €20 per person. They leave around 9:30 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. There is a ferry that takes your car or motorbike to Fierze as well. The lake is dirty, it is not what it looks like in some photos. The road there is destroyed, half unpaved and full of holes. You don't miss anything if you don't go.

Meant to write a review of this place three years ago, just now doing it. You definitely must visit this mask display/factory/store when in Shkoder! Absolutely beautiful work, knowledgeable enjoyable presentation by owner, incredible things on the wall. An amazing, surprising thing to do, and you'll see lots of things you want. We bought two modest-priced masks to hang on the wall at home, and guests always ask about and compliment them.
NinaFarina — Google review
The showroom/exhibition is fantastic. A magical experience. Every mask is a piece of art. Super friendly staff who kindly answered questions but did not push us to buy. Visiting the workshop watching how the artists create was also great. Although I feel a bit concerned for their health because of the smell of solvent.

This is an absolutely wonderful place to visit. The welcome I received was friendly, warm and enthusiastic.
I was shown around the shop and the factory by the manager who was very relaxed and knowledgeable. It's full of creativity, colour, charm and dare I say a magical aura. It's absolutely breathtaking to see the highly talanted staff at work as well and they appear so in the moment with their work.
It's one of those places that could mesmerise you for hours. Top class!!

This is a wonderful place not too far out of Shkoder to visit on a rainy day. The masks and decorations are really beautiful. We went on a Sunday where the shop was open but no workers were in the factory. Very impressive 😊

This is a hidden gem in Shkoder!! Amazing! You can see how they do it step by step. It helped us realize that each mask contains a lot of detailed work that involves so many artists. Each piece is unique and handmade and so much care and precision has gone into the creative process. This is a must to visit!!

This place is amazing and definitely worth a visit. The owner was kind enough to explain everything in detail. I went there on a Sunday. Each mask is unique, and the hard work that has been done to make it a piece of art is praiseworthy. I got a small souvenir mask for myself.

One of the best experiences; not only in Shkodra but in the entire Albania. Entering there feels glamorous and the entire showroom feels as if you truly are in a Venice high end party. The staff is amazing and helpful. The experience in the workplace and the knowledge shared with us there is a memory and experience we will not forget soon! Thank you!

This is a must-visit if you find yourself in Shkodër.
The host who walked us through the workshop was knowledgeable about all aspects of the process, and answered all of our questions in detail. Do not pass on the chance to see the amazing craftsmanship involved in creating these works of art. It’s really eye opening and brings into sharp relief the importance of supporting this kind of artisanal work (*Note: photography is not allowed in the workshop).
Once we moved over to the gallery the most impressive aspect of the tour came into sharp focus. Not only are you dazzled by the extraordinarily beautiful masks (and dresses) on display, you are also treated to more information and thoughtful insights from the host. And all this with absolutely no pressure to purchase anything. It seema clear that these folks have lots of business, so a one-to-one sales pitch is simply not required.
You can wander through this astonishing gallery to your heart’s content, with all your questions answered, for as long as you wish. With no sales pitch or pressure.
That said, we own two Venetian masks already, and can say for certain that the prices here are far, far lower (like 25%) than what you will pay if you shop for these masks from dealers in the USA or Canada (Note: they accept Visa).
A fabulous experience that reminds us once again of the importance of supporting artisanal products whenever possible.
Cost of tour is 350L/person - which is deducted from any purchase you make.

If you're in Shkoder, don't miss Venice Art Mask! Their handcrafted Venetian masks are a must-see, made with a traditional method passed down through generations. Mondi, the owner, is incredibly kind and takes the time to share the history and details about each mask. It's a fantastic experience!
The "Marubi" National Museum of Photography in Shkodër, Albania is a unique museum that showcases the remarkable work of the Marubi family, who were pioneers in Albanian photography. The collection includes the first-ever photograph taken in Albania, offering a captivating glimpse into the country's history and culture. Housed conveniently in the city center, this museum is a must-visit for those interested in early photojournalism and portraits from old Albania.
What an interesting place. I really enjoyed it, but it was also very moving and touching, and it made you think. Not only did the photography and history make an impression, but all the photos of people who went on trial (most of whom were executed) during communism was really heartbreaking. I spent a long time looking at the trial photos, and they will stay with me for a long time. It's an unforgettable place to visit, and I highly recommend it.

Interesting presentation of photographs with ethnographic and historical value. However, the museum is very small (30-45min if you read all the descriptions), poorly contextualised and frankly quite expensive (7€) considering what it offers and the local purchasing power. No cards. No wifi.

This museum exhibits photos which can truly show snapshots of the past in Albania. Some of the photos were very interesting but it can become quite repetitive after a time. It feels very modern and clean but it's also quite small too. A student ticket is 210 Leke but if I had paid full price at 700 Leke, I would have been very disappointed.

We got in with the student discount (2 euros per person) and found the museum nicely organized, clean, and the content was very interesting to see. The regular 7 euro fee for entrance is a little bit high considering the size of the exhibition - but overall we would say it’s definitely worth visiting! Location is also great in the middle of all the action in Shkodra.

Overall this was the greatest experience I have had in Albania this many years. Right when you walk in, there was this girl that was always seen with a smile on her face, greeting you in the nicest way possible. She informed us about the prices, gave us the right pamphlets and also suggested that we start our tour from the second floor and finish with the dark room.
The ambiance was great, and modern motives were so nicely embedded with the photographies that have resisted time.
Every photography or item placed in the museum had its own explanations, written both in Albanian and English.
I think if we should consider raising the standards of Albanian Culture and the way we present it, we should start by taking example from Marubi Exposè, National Photography Museum.

This is a well-curated museum with excellent signage in English for non-Albanian visitors. Upstairs you can learn about the Marubi "family" and their remarkable and valuable contribution to Albania's heritage.
Entrance was 700 lekë when I visited on a rainy October day (11/10/2022).
Shkodër, also known as Shkodra or Skadar, is a municipality and city located in the northwest region of Albania. It is home to vibrant cafes, bars, bakeries and eateries that offer an authentic glimpse into Albanian culture. The city serves as a transit stop for travelers heading to Tirana and the Albanian Alps. Visitors can explore ancient attractions such as the Rozafa Fortress which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding areas.
The Rozafa Fortress, located in a hilltop archaeological park in one of the oldest cities Shkoder, is an impressive sight with magnificent views over the city and Lake Shkodra. The castle was originally founded by the Illyrians and later rebuilt by the Venetians and Turks. Its name originates from a legend about a woman who was walled into the ramparts as an offering to ensure its stability.
One of the many castles we visited in Albania. This one was large but it was not a living city. There was a restaurant on site, a museum and the ruins. In scale it was large and has gone though several reiterations through the many centuries of its existence. The views from the top are spectacular. This was a wonderful excursion for the afternoon.

This castle lies on top of a small mountain and grants spectacular views. Entry fee is reasonable and it's very easy to reach. I just missed a guide who could tell more about the history, or some pictures of how it used to be. Now it's just some impressive old rocks you wander about while having nice views

An awesome castle which allows access nearly all areas. Great to climb the walls and get as close as I'd dare. You're in control of your own health and safety!
Very hot at height of summer.
Parking is not good. Head up to the top if you dare. Turning & reversing on narrow cobbles or rocks may be needed. I'd recommend parking before you go over the little bridge, then walk up.
Well worth a visit though. The views are absolutely stunning!

Well worth a visit. The views are stunning, especially on a sunny day. You can picnic on the ground. The castle is huge.
Just watch out for holes on the ground as some of them are not covered.
There are limited spaces to park before the entrance. Entrance fee is 400 Lek per person. You can download the PQ code at the entrance for a short introduction of the castle.

There was a very beautiful view there.
It's worth going to simply breathe in the delicious air.
I went on Saturday but there weren't many people.
It is faster to drive to the ticket office.
There are few parking space.

It's a difficult road to walk, so it's best to wear it in an easy-to-move style.
The male staff at the entrance will welcome you in a friendly manner.

This castle is a beautiful monument where you can appreciate unique panorama views from the city, the lake and the river. There are barely restricted areas so you feel free to discover the castle by yourself. It would help if there were more signs describing the history tho. If you come during the day don't forget to bring water, comfortable shoes and maybe some snacks (always take your trash with you) and cash to pay the entrance. Highly recommended to come here and spend some time

Amazing view. Wonderful story. The road there is a bit tiring but beautiful and cobbled. The people are fantastic. At the entrance to the neighborhood there is a shop where you can stop for the toilet. Its owner took us by car to the castle. The ticket costs $4 / person. Young people with a student card pay only $1.2 (although sometimes they don't pay at all 😂). The view of the castle is wonderful during sunset, there is also a coffee bar inside.

Really large castle perched on a large hill overlooking Shkodër! They close at 21:00hrs but they let me in at 20:15 just after sunset. There are about 5 or so signs describing each courtyard and some of the buildings, but essentially, it's a "choose your own adventure" castle. Lots of people climbing around, some walls are quite small so people were perched on them.
There is a cafe there and a museum for an extra fee but it was closed when I got there.
Some parking down the bottom and then about a ten minute steep walk up slippery cobblestones to the castle entrance after the ticket booth.

Stunning view and enormous building. We amazed. There is a parking lot at the top. It was 4 euros per person. There are 3 main floors, which makes 3 gardens in fact. Worth to take a look for half an hour / an hour.

Place is a bit hard to go with a bike because of the incline. You can still do it anyway you want.
On the other hand, the castle shows marvelous views of the city from all angles!

Only ruins but a beautiful view. The ticket costs 400 lek for adults. Those aged 0-12 enter for free. There's a museum inside ( you have to pay another ticket!). There's also a bar. If you need the toilet into the bar you have to pay another ticket.. you can eat and buy drinks (no prices exposed) but if you ask to use the toilet you have to pay again.... Parking is very small but it's in front of the entrance and it's free.

I recently revisited Rozafa Castle after many years, and it was a refreshing experience. Growing up in Albania, whenever I visited the castle as a child, I was fascinated by the history and the stunning views. Now, as an adult with my own kids, I was excited to return and show them a snippet of the culture and their ancestors. The castle is one of the most preserved in Albania and offers a glimpse into the history of the region. The view from the castle is breathtaking, and it is definitely worth the climb to the top. There is a coffee shop in the castle where you can relax and enjoy the view. The castle also has a small museum inside that is definitely worth a visit. The museum offers a glimpse into the history of the castle and the region. The castle is conveniently located near other attractions in Shkoder, such as the Marubi Permanent Photo Exhibition and the Shkoder Historical Museum. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Rozafa Castle if you are in the area, especially if you want to learn more about the culture and history of Albania and show your own kids a piece of their heritage.

A beautiful experience. Ehat the Castle offered was its once Grandeur that stood out from the ruins. The fantastic view from its balconies, and for those who know its history, the Tears of Rozafa, which are still kept in the tunnels of the castle, was very impressive. The museum was very pleasant as you got to know some carefully preserved archaeological facts and findings, which few people know about. Truly a special experience.

100% worth a visit when in Shkodër. Amazing views, especially to see sunset. The entry fee is 400 LEK, which you must pay in cash. We arrive at 16:20 and the sign said that it closes at 16:00, however we were allowed in with no problem, and also people were let in later than us. Well preserved and bigger than we expected.

After visiting every fort we could over the past 14 years... this is by far my favorite.
For 1 there is still a lot to see here that has not fallen down and is in great shape.
Also they allow you to basically go anywhere within reason, unlike most forts that have a designated trails, or this door is locked or that room is out of bounds.
There is a TON to see here and you could easily spend a couple hours walking around.
There are also underground areas you can your through so be sure to go slow and check out all the hidden spots.

An interesting place! There are signs that help you understand the history. You can see the sea from here. A beautiful, quiet and unique place to stop in Albania. The road to the top is all up hill. The Google map shows it as a 30-minute walk, but due to the steep incline I recommend taking a car unless you are in great shape or want to spend some good amount of time walking up there. The view is quite something. I didn’t see any restrooms there and it is not a tourist trap. There are no shops or restaurants. Just go to enjoy the beauty and the history of the area.

Lezhë Castle (Albanian:Kalaja e Lezhës) is a castle dominating the city of Lezhë, northern Albania. Its highest point is 186 metres (610 ft). Lezhë Castle is at an elevation of 322 metres (1,056 ft).
The castle originates from Illyrian times. In 1440 it was reconstructed by the Venetians, and in 1522, after the Ottoman conquest, it was also rebuilt by the latter. The castle bears traces of Illyrian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman architecture. Interesting places to visit are the ruins of the Ottoman buildings inside the castle, the mosque, the tower of the south-eastern wall with a Roman arch, and the Illyrian tower on the southern wall. The Lezha castle is a cultural monument. The castle offers a beautiful view of the Lezha fields and the Adriatic Sea

Smaller than Shkodra castle but definitely worth seeing. You can clearly see the ancient Illyrian architecture in the large blocks that form the base of the fortress. You can drive up to the fortress and the views from the top of the hill are magnificent.
At the bottom of the hill you can see more of the Illyrian ruins and Skënderbeu's "tomb". You may want to be careful were you explore around the monument as you might step in some unpleasantness where a wall has become a public "restroom".

Perfect a little get away there’s bars restaurants
And of corse the beach the cost is not too expensive again compare to other beaches in Albania it is affordable
Not sure about the hotel prices haven’t checked them yet this place is bout 1hr 20 min max from Tirana very easy to get to.

Serious problem for local endeavors to establish tourist businesses.
The beach, from top to bottom suffers from way too much waste that is obviously left by visitors of the beach. This is totally intolerable for most western european tourists. From car parts, to clothes, to rotten boats, to packaging waste... It apears like a dump yard for long streches.
If the community over at Shengjini does not cope with this, all their beautiful hotels will not be visited often.
Save the environment. Do something.
Andreas Schwab — Google review
staying at the southern quieter part of Shengjin. Still the beach here is crowded, sunbeds (500 lek for 2 beds and umbrella) packed too close to another. No garbage apart from cigarette butts. Beach is shallow, water is usually calm or with some moderate waves. Water is foggy with very limited visibility.
Shengjin is not much fun. Newly built. Promenade and fun fair.. not much else. Lots of mosquitos. Sewer stench is terrible (usually in evening-night hours), guess the infrastructure can't hold the many (and many more still u/c) apt buildings.
People are friendly and hospitable, esp. toward foreigners, but not many of them speak english good.

A busy, bustling beach in Central Albania. It is a short 15 minutd journey from Lezhë in public bus or furgon - don't pay more than 50 lek for it. There are public deckchairs, showers and local people selling their wares. I recommend the delicious milkshake sold by the lads on the little yellow vehicle. Some nice and reasonably priced restaurants nearby. Water is pleasantly cool and the sand is soft underfoot. Nice for a few hours' swimming and people watching.

The Castle of Kruja, also known as Kruje Castle, is a historic site in Albania that played a significant role in the battles between Albanian hero Skanderbeg and the Ottoman Empire. The castle offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and features various museums, including the Tekke of Dollmë monument and the ruins of a mosque. Visitors can explore its towers, walls, and ramparts while learning about its rich history.
A must visit in Albania and the history is great. Make sure you visit the museum. The views from the castle are impressive

Beautiful medieval castle! The old bazaar right before getting to the castle is really impressive as well. Narrow little streets are really picturesque and full of vendors selling all kinds of souvenirs.

The castle itself is beautiful, standing there as an immortal testament to the times gone by. It is, however, out and about Kruja itself where you get the feel for the place - from the stunning sights to the bazaar just a short walk from the castle. Go there and bask in the beauty that is Albania!
Oh, and the restaurant at the foot of the castle, unexpectedly, is really, really good. The food was surprisingly great.

Magnificent views, handcrafted goods, delicious food in small restaurants. A place full of history. Spotters bonus - you can observe planes landing and starting from Tirana airport.

Incredibly well preserved, great history and great views. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a tourist trap on the way up. If you can make it past the people trying to corral you for parking and the souvenir shops in the old town, it's worth the short walk up! Don't miss the old fort that's free and behind the main castle.

This is also called Skanderberg castle. There is a museum over here. If you are interested in history this is the place for you. Also the view from here is very beautiful, you will find a lot of street shops here comparatively more costly than what you find in the city. But some of the items are really good and things that you will not find in the city. Recommended if you are a tourist in Albania 🇦🇱.

It's got great views of the town and the surrounding area.
It's a nice walk up to the top.
The castle itself is mostly a ruin, there are a couple of info signs about what used to be there etc.
There are alot of nice cafes and restaurants in the grounds.

One of my favorite places on our cruise to visit. The people here were very nice. And last picture is what to expect if you need a restroom. Plan wisely.

The castle is recent (don't expect a very old castle) but well renovated. The interior of the castle is simple and quite spartan. Overall, a visit to the castle is worth it also for the city and the bazaar close by.

Loved it! I went to Kruje with my friends and we had so mutch fun watching all of that stuff. The restaurants were near us and the old baazar too. Entering the museum was a whole different thing, it was crazy and awesome. Old pictures, old flags and other old things that represent Albania in the past. The only problem in the museum was that you were not allowed to take photos but we didn't really care because we were magnified. Awesome I totally recomend it!

I love castles. This one is only a short walk from town, through the awesome bazaar.
The castle has been rebuilt into a museum, it didn’t work that well for me. Not like the castles of old but still worthwhile visiting for the spectacular views of the mountains and countryside.
I love the way many buildings in the castle grounds are still used.
Even though it doesn’t say, make sure you explore the grounds, that’s where the real treasure is.

Went with a tour operator, and it was definitely amazing to be able to experience the past through the stories and artifacts in the castle! The bazaar outside of the castle is great!

We have been on a castle visiting spree in Europe. Before this one my favorite was Prajama castle in Slovenia. I must say though this castle was absolutely stunning. The fee to get in is quite inexpensive about 500 Lek or 5 Euro. It's one of the most well kept castles I've seen out here. The journey is treacherous though. I rented a car and drove and it was an adventure. Definitely an adventure worth the destination though.

Really beautiful original and traditional place of mountains, the castle, and of the bazaar. Museum quite disappointing, a place with so much rich history and traditions but so little information and display. It's a bit of steep and rocky walking, definitely not for high heels. Cars can drive up to the top of the castle where there is a dormitory and restaurant a limited place . Otherwise, it is an all lovely and enjoyable trip.
Emi Kaza — Google review
Not worth it if you like castles, as I do. There's only an old tower in quite a bad state. And then a very ugly new one with the museum, that I didn't visit. The city itself is even uglier and there is construction everywhere, which is good for the locals, but not for visitors. Construction trucks use most of the already narrow road.
F PE — Google review
The place is free to visit, in renovation and with an awesome view towards the city. Right before the entry there are lot of coffees and a bazaar ("charshiya") with all kinds of items. Bring cash though, they wouldn't serve me coffee because I wanted to pay by card. More than anything the view and mountains behind the castle are more impressive than the castle itself. It's a really small one. A mosque is being built next to the turkish baths. It'll probably be better in a few years. Traffic is horrible. As far as I understand a sat/sun visit may take x5 time because of inability to leave.

Walking through street cobbled of bazaar to arrival at Kruja Castle, worth it. Amazing view. You can visit for free and can make e stop to chill outside in a chair or walking around.
Small museum in a citadel focused on the life & military feats of a 15th-century national hero.
One of the best museums i have ever visited! It has a lot of history to offer and great artifacts!
Different sculptures and many interesting pictures .
Highly recommend to anyone who wants to know more of our history. Also most of the things at the museum are translated to English,so its easier for everyone to catch up.

This is pretty good - organized and thorough. It will take a couple of hours to really get the most out of it, and if you're as uninformed about Skanderbeg as I was then you'll find a lot of pleasure in learning about this whole fluid period of central European history. I found it really useful to have Google Translate on permanent call for the Albanian and Latin.

I loved visiting this museum! It's situated in the main Citadel and its main focus is the national hero of Albania, Skanderbeg.
There are also artifacts from ancient Illyrians, as well as many historical writings, drawings, maps, icons... The exposition is very well structured and everything is translated to English.
The entry fee is 500 lek for tourists, which I find very reasonable, especially considering what you'll get to see.

A must see for anyone visiting Albania. About a half hour drive from the outskirts of the capital. A pleasant drive into the mountains. Great artifacts dating back to the 1400’s. €5 cover charge for adults and children are free. Close by are the souvenir shops in the cobblestone bazaar.

The best way to know everything about the Albanian national hero.
The building itself has an interesting story as it was built by the communist leader's daughter in the eighties and the way it looks shows it.
There are few original pieces as most Albanian art is in foreign museums but the reproductions are good enough to explain the history.

A bit pricey compare to other museums in Albania but totally worth it. The entrance to thr castle is free anyway, sonit is worth to get inside the castle to admire the art and history of Albania hero: Giorgio Skanderbeg.

Beautiful place. Not expected from the drive up to it. Stunning views from the exterior of the castle. The museum has some wonderful artefacts. It's worth going with a guide to have everything explained to you. The bazaar is worth a visit. We found the people to be extremely polite and not overly pushy. Well worth a visit. Ladies, don't use the loos in the Museum, find a cafe instead.

Small but interesting museum, unfortunately only a small portion of the information is translated to English, so I didn't learn much. Still recommend it, considering it's not that expensive (I think it was around 5€). And the view when you get to the top is quite nice.

Skanderberg was Albania's most important leader. It's absolutely vital to get to know the history of this historical figure, so It's visiting this museum should be on your bucket list. Pity the museum is not interactive though....
Great Museum. Good way to display the history of albania and also some historic artifacts. If you scroll down you can see old pictures on the ratings but trust me. After EU investing together with albania the museum is made all over looking modern but also ancient very attractive to the sore eye. I recomand 100% to stop by and visit the place!

I will say best museum in Albania to visit. Exterior is classic, showing old traditional house of Kruja. But I will say interior is more beautiful and classic. What a wonderful way of showing traditional way of living, and showcasing their cultural dresses, seating arrangements in house, wonderful. On ground floor are more storage spaces and working showrooms like how they were used. On upper floor is the arrangements of a typical house settings. Every item at display is beautiful, and guide explains it in very intersection way. Guide is very nice man, he can speak in Italian, French, Spanish, English and Albanese languages. Must visit place and 100 % recommended.

Small but amazing museum, definitely worth visiting when exploring the Krujë Castle. It's an interesting peek into a daily life of Ottoman family.
The whole house is preserved and every room looks very close to how it was back in the day. You can see historical Ottoman kitchen, living room, bedroom, hammam, different workshops (wool, wine, rakja, tools...)
There was a guide inside who was very kind and helpful and immediately told us many interesting facts about each room. There's also an information board outside in many languages, even Czech (my language).
Overall a great experience, highly recommended!

interesting little museum, with very beautiful exhibits (sometimes very impressive) ... old as the olive tree was also preserved 😍
This mosque, built in the 18th century, is one of Skanderbeg Square's most iconic attractions. The Mosque features colourful frescoes both inside and out, as well as being an important part of Tirana's history. In 1991, 10,000 people came together outside the mosque in an event which helped contribute to the fall of Albania's communist government.
Gorgeous, quite distinctive mosque in the centre of Tirana. Like almost every other mosque in Albania, is one of the oldest mosques in Albania. That's what iconoclasm gets you.

This is one of very few mosques in Albania to resist the communist regime without being demolished. It has an ottoman architecture but it is quite unique with its still life paintings, something rarely seen in Islamic architecture. It's a first-category monument of culture. It is also one of the most beloved mosques for muslims in Tirana, since it is located right in the city center, it is one of the oldest and it is a symbol of survival of faith.

We prayed Fajr, Zuhar and Isha there. Ladies can do abolution if they are there 30-50 minutes before the prayer time and have a separate section for praying. For men the abolution are is just down in the basement and they can pray in inside hall or outside hall.

The Hajji Et'hem Bey Mosque (Albanian: Xhamia e Haxhi Et'hem Beut) is a mosque in Tirana, Albania which is a cultural monument. The mosque is adorned with beautiful frescoes outside and in the portico depicting trees, waterfalls and bridges (typically walls are white and this is an exception). Tourists can go inside but need to take off shoes and comply with the dress code. Pictures without flash are allowed to be taken inside. The mosque construction was started in late 18th century and finished in early 19th century. It survived the years of communism and functions as a mosque today. It takes 10-15 minutes to complete the tour (i.e., go inside to appreciate the history and beauty of the building) and is highly recommended. Entry is free. Friendly staff inside could provide additional guidance /support.

The Et'hem Bej Mosque stands as a symbol of Albania's religious and cultural heritage. What makes it truly remarkable is its remarkable history, surviving years of communist rule and serving as a beacon of religious freedom since the early 1990s. The interior, adorned with intricate frescoes, is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of its builders. Visitors seeking both architectural beauty and a glimpse into Albania's past will find the Et'hem Bej Mosque a captivating and peaceful destination worth exploring.

BunkArt2 is a museum inside a preserved, Communist-era nuclear pit bunker. It features art and historical exhibits about the oppression under the communist regime. The museum is located in downtown Tirana and is accessible by subway.
I went there without knowning what was inside. Nice place and full of historic photos but also gadgets, guns and clothes that people wore during the communism era. It is a very big place and it took me more than one hour and a half to explore the underground bunker! You can easily buy the tickets there (no need for reservation) and it will cost you 500ALL. I absolutely recommend this place!
Mario — Google review
Interesting museum in a bunker mostly dedicated to the secret police of the communist regime, with some creative exhibits. The beginning of the exhibition covers the history of police forces in Albania, and might be going in too much details for foreigners. Not as good as the (excellent) original Bunk'Art, however it is so conveniently located that it'd be a shame to miss it
Florent Lachenaud — Google review
This museum is well worth visiting and you should plan at least 1hr +
There are lots of different rooms as you walk through the old nuclear bunker.
You can earn about the formation of the secret police and how people were toured and killed.
It's not for the faint hearted and be prepared to read a lot of the different explanations.

A truly unique and interesting experience. This place was absolutely unreal and the bunkers just kept going and going and going. There were heaps of old furniture, telephones, original fixtures and information about the history and political climate at the time. Very stuffy and damp in some places, but it adds to the experience. Cash only and you can pay Euro or LEK. Enjoy

Definitely one of the places to visit in Tirana. Some of the displays are rather dry (a lot of writing and written in a way that feels like it was a librarian who wrote it), but the experience overall is pretty neat - and these bunkers (there are tens of thousands of them) form a unique part of Albanian history/culture. Everything is translated in both Albanian and English.
Darryl Bannon — Google review
Nice museum with a lot of history, but I recommend visiting this one first and then the Bunk’Art 1.
If you already saw the first out, there is no need to check this one out cause it is not as amazing.
If you are really into history, both of them are worth visiting as the information is different and everything is also translated in English.

The Bunker entrance costs 500 Lek if you want to discover by yourself. They offer a guide for 1000 Lek more.
The exhibition shows how the communist regime failed. It’s a gloomy and scary atmosphere with sounds and film. The Bunker have lots of rooms where you can go and see some parts of the revolution but also the bedroom of the minister.

I really enjoyed my experience at Bunk'Art 2. Unique way to learn about the history of Albania. I agree with other reviews to try to go early or during non-peak times. It can definitely get crowded in the tunnels underground.
Eric Archer — Google review
The museum is not well thought out. I later learned that this comes from the government not knowing what to do with this bunker, so they just made it I to a museum. The exhibitions feel like they took articles from Wikipedia and posted them on boards and created figures using whatever they had left laying around. The bathrooms are also very dirty and don't even have seats. This really showed how little they do with the proceeds.
Rosalie B — Google review
We really enjoyed the exhibition and it was a perfect introduction to modern Albanian history. In some moments it was very emotional for us mostly because our country Czechia (which used to be Czechoslovakia) shares a very similar communist history. The museum was large and it took us over two hours to go through all of the rooms. This is a must when you’re in Tirana for sure!

This is a great museum outlining Albania's transition as an independent country, through fascist Europe and the following communist era. Information was well presented, though they could relook at translation issues. Certainly a problem for non English and Albanian speakers but also, direct translation from Albanian made it challenging to read for English speakers also. Still a fabulous museum more than worth visiting.

A thought-provoking museum about Albania's history and the strict communist dictatorship. The whole museum is a decommissioned bunker - I really liked how the entrance looks!
I personally liked it more than BUNK'ART 1 - this one has less specific history about people and events, and is more leaned towards the regime's workings - spying, citizens' life during the regime, foreign influences, etc.
Tip: You can buy a joint ticket for both BUNK'ART museums for 10 euros.

Bunk’art 2 was a really interesting way of telling the history of Albania through wartime and its independence! This museum really outlined the difficulties experienced, the struggle they fought through and the horrendous acts carried out under some leaders

I’ll never know if this is better to visit than House of Leaves or Bunk’Art 1. Either way you will look at older Albanian people differently afterwards, obtaining a slight understanding of what they lived through. So it is worth the visit, seeing either this museum or one of the others. I’m not sure it matters exactly which specific one as there is an overlap, so choose one and get it done. Bring lek — euro or card aren’t accepted.

At the heart of Tirana, the square is quite magnificent looking and fitting for a budding tourist city. See it as the centre point of new Tirana, resplendent with Albania imagery, from before communism and after.

Awesome place to sit and relax whenever you are in Tirana & visit the tourist sites which are around the square. In our 6 days stay in Tirana we visited the square everyday just to chill & enjoy the lively full of energy happenings around the square and enjoy the lovely food in the restaurants just a stone throw away from the square.

Central large open square with the famous slanderbeg statue as well as the natural history museum, opera and the I love tirana. Because the square is so large it never seemed crowded eventough many people, both tourist and locals, crossing it every day. It's an good starting point to and from eitber busses to airport, the mountains or other parts of the city; to the parks and shopping streets; or to the suburbs.
A central point like this really gives something extra to a city and there's a lot of history there. Esthetically maybe not the most beautiful square, however I loved the stones that were used and the square resembles the complex albanian history making it an important place and starting point of your journey in Tirana.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
This large square, the symbol of Tiranya, is an amazing place.
There are so many attractions for families to enjoy.
It's better than any other amusement park. It's amazing to have a square like this in the middle of the city.
Most of the children's favorite rides are equipped, and the fee is 3 euros per ride.
In addition to the rides, popping balloons (it will empty your pockets)
We have a variety of food trucks, cafes, and bars.
Enjoy well-cooked sausages and draft beer!

What a square.. a huge space with such an eclectic mix of architecture and history surrounding it. From the mosque to the opera, the old and the new it really is worth walking around and sitting a while to absorb the atmosphere. Plenty of seating around the edges including the cafes outside the opera house.

Tirana during the Christmas period is a festive delight, with the city adorned in colorful lights and lively decorations. Strolling through Skanderbeg Square, you'll feel the holiday spirit in the air, as locals and visitors alike enjoy the cheerful atmosphere. The city's vibrant energy, combined with seasonal markets and cultural events, creates a warm and welcoming experience. While it's a joyful time to explore Tirana's landmarks, keep in mind that the Christmas period can be bustling, so plan accordingly to make the most of the festive charm without missing out on the city's unique offerings.

This was the third time that I have visited here Albania, Tirana and Skanderbeg Square, but most likely on new year, I haven't seen such thing, especially that fireworks 🎇 Really amazing, mesmerizing, unbelievable. Couldn't even sleep that night, there were many activities and events during that week. But of course most important is Balkan atmosphere.. I wasn't expecting that much but really was cool. Even in summer and winter, only disadvantage is you need to do stock especially when you are visiting as tourist and will stay in hostel or in a flat. 😅
I highly recommend you to visit any time you want, although there are some restricted things to do in Tirana but certainly you will have great time, take every opportunity. Foods as well and many amazing cafés & restaurants. Try traditional cuisine as well :)

We only went at night when there was a Christmas market on. It was well set out with some stalls and rides. Especially good if you wanted to go on bumper cars or test your punching strength. It seemed like mostly locals but we didn’t feel out of place or uncomfortable as tourists.

Huge square of significance in the centre of Tirana. It is surrounded by places of interest such as Skanderbeg statue, the national history museum and Et hem bej mosque.
There is underground parking at this location although entrance/exit points are very narrow. The parking is not free.
Beware of the stray dogs as I nearly got by a pack.

The Pyramid of Tirana, completed in 1988, is a pyramidal structure that has served as a conference center, nightclub, and NATO base. Plans are now underway to convert the building into a youth cultural center.
Great structure. It's massive
You will need to climb some stairs, but you'll enjoy a fantastic view from the top
It has seats and some viewpoints, too
The piramid is surrounded by a beautiful park, and some creative buildings
Great place to go, and spent some time on the top to enjoy the different views

Great place to stop by and climb the stairways and see the city from the high point of Pyramid. Especially nice if you come around before evening to see the sunset.
You can buy tickets to go inside or stay outside to see the city or take photos. We enjoyed even just the outside views.
Lots of good photo opportunities and nice architecture around the area. This place is popular with tourists and locals just to relax, chill and see the views.

Don’t expect a pristine, shiny looking sight. The building is in a derelict state and you can’t go inside - you can only have a look through the broken parts of windows. However, this place is definitely worth visiting when you’re in Tirana. It will definitely give you an insight into the communist part of Albanian history.

The Pyramid of Tirana is a really cool attraction that you shouldn't miss when you visit the city! It's a huge, pyramid-shaped building in the center of town that was built a long time ago, during a time when the country was very different.
Inside, you can explore different floors full of exhibits that show what Albania was like in the past. It's super interesting to learn about the country's history and see all the cool stuff on display.
The Pyramid is also a really unique and impressive building. It's so big and imposing, it really stands out in the city. Even if you don't know anything about its history, you'll be in awe of its size and design.
At the same time, the Pyramid is also kind of controversial because of its past associations with the former dictatorship. Some people want it taken down, while others want it preserved in some way. Either way, it's a really important part of Tirana's history and identity.
Overall, if you're interested in history, architecture or just something really cool to see, definitely go check out the Pyramid of Tirana when you visit the city!

Loved this place, a fabulous piece of architecture that gives you excellent views across the city and completely free.
Plenty of seating areas at the top but also around the base too.
Interesting to also go inside after your descent and see the really funky internal element.
There's also a coffee shop too.

An interesting piece of Albanian history and one of several abandoned places that are worth exploring. It is easy to enter and many people do, but watch your step when you walk around, as the place is in disrepair. You can climb some stairs to see the upper floors or go to the basement, but again, be careful where you step. Also, it seems that some people (probably homeless) are staying there at night, so you'll encounter some trash and waste.
Katja Drnovsek — Google review
I visited today (April 2019) and they are in the process of blocking it off. Fence encompasses the entire front side, working around each side. The back is still open but it appears they plan to circle the whole building. Very quirky architecture and sad to see it in such disrepair. Hopefully someone is getting ready to do an update!

Do visit this Pyramid when you are on a walking tour from Skanderberg square to visit the nearby attractions. It is still there beer renovation & after completion will be turned into an Tech place to support start-ups in Albania as informed by our tour guide. It is not an actual Pyramid but a structure like it where you can climb few steps & have a look of the surrounding from the top.
Nazir Kariyania — Google review
A must see spot in Tirana! Huge building in the middle of a big park that takes up a whole block, it’s an impressive construction and hard to miss from afar. It’s very nicely lighten up during the sunset and night and the surroundings are also well maintained along with some interesting new constructions.
It has 200 steps but the view is worth it, it’s a bit of a shame that some of the new buildings are blocking some of it though. It provides a nice 360 view, and it’s quite interesting to see both sides of the city so clearly.
The pyramid has also a long history, as it has been there for a long time and it’s nice to see that it has been repurposed to serve the city and the country.

Recently renovated building which was reopened in mid-2023 which offers a 360 degree view of the Tirana skyline from 8 storeys high. Free to enter but is a bit of a hike up. There are six benches on the top level where locals and tourists congregate, including seniors and children. There is a round glass panel that looks into the inside of the structure.
There are pastel colored cube shaped buildings at various levels of the structure.

The Resurrection Cathedral (Katedralja Ngjallja e Krishtit) is an Albanian Orthodox church situated in the center of Tirana, Albania. It is considered among the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the Balkans. It was officially opened on June 24, 2012, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the revival of the Albanian Orthodox Church and the election of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania. Designed by the New York City-based Architect and Engineering team of Steven P. Papadatos and Lizardos Engineering Associates. The complex of the cathedral includes the following buildings: the cathedral, the chapel of the Nativity, the bell tower, the residence of the Holy Synod, the cultural center, a library, two other chapels and a small museum. The cathedral's dome is 32.2 m high, with the bell tower reaching 46 metres
The bell tower, designed and sculpted by Archbishop Anastasios, is composed of four Paschal candles which symbolize the four Evangelists who proclaimed the Resurrection. These join around the central shaft of stairs. The winding staircase leads to two open floors with 16 bells. A four-sided clock sits above the bells. The two underground levels below the cathedral church were used to fulfill the church's need for a Cultural and Conference Center. The center has an amphitheater with a capacity for 500-850 people which may be used to host lectures, shows, and concerts. The auxiliary wings and backstage allow this hall to be used as a theater also.
On the eastern side of the amphitheater is a small museum, a lecture hall, a surrounding for banquets and an area for exhibitions and children's activities.
To the right of the grand marble staircase which leads to the church cathedral there is ample space for a bookstore and a store with church items. Meanwhile, to the left of the stairs are two rooms where youth groups and faithful can gather after church services. To the north, in front of the Conference and Cultural Center there is a small outdoor amphitheater, for use during summer months.

Grand Park of Tirana is a public park in the heart of the Albanian capital city Tirana. The 290-hectare open space with an artificial lake at its center is popular with locals and tourists alike, containing the Presidential Palace, tombs of Frasheri brothers and other notable Albanian figures, an open-air theatre, swimming pools and the citys zoo. You cannot come to Tirana without visiting this park which is beautiful in all seasons. Very calming place to be with nature. You can stay where it is green or venture down to the lake. There are kids playgrounds, one with a zip line with is great for children. There are also many restaurants dotted around the edge of the park and people selling snacks like freshly made donuts inside.

We took some hour walk there. A nice park, in many parts a forest in the city. Really loved that in some parts are separate trails for walkers, for runners and for bikes. Usually you see two trails (for walkers and bikes) not three as here. When it is warmer probably it is a great place for simple rest, physical activities, culture and so on.

Durrës Amphitheatre is a 2nd-century CE Roman amphitheater built by Emperor Trajan, boasting a capacity of 20,000 seats. Located in the heart of Durres, Albania, this historical site offers visitors an authentic glimpse into the ancient past. While exploring the city, travelers can immerse themselves in local culture and reminisce with Albanians about their cherished memories.
The Roman Amphitheater of Durrës was built under emperor Trajan in 2nd century and was destroyed twice by earthquakes in the 6th and 10th centuries. It is still preserved very well, considering everything. Its capacity was estimated from 15000 to 18000 spectators. It was discovered in 1966 and it is a place you must see while visiting the city.
Daniel Haman — Google review
The ruins of the Roman amphitheater are in the middle of the center of Durrës and would be hard to miss if you're looking for whatever little remains of the ancient part of the city. You might be tempted not pay the admission price because most of the ruins are visible from the streets that surround it. But if you're a lover of archaeology and you want to get a closer look at the location of gladiator fights in a Roman province, a stroll inside is essential. You might have to do a little bit of careful climbing, but it's part of the adventure. Well worth the detour.
Georges Younes — Google review
What a great spot to see and feel history, the admission price of 400 leks for two of us is very reasonable. There is no guided tour here, you just walk around by yourself and it's perfect!!! You walk out on the field in the middle as well.
There's also a really cool mosaic in one the rooms.

Nice day out with family. Plenty to see if you like archaeological sites and ruins, it is a long walk around with some uneven ground where it is difficult to walk. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes for climbing. Lots of shaded areas yo stop and rest
The coffee shop is very overpriced but comes in handy for cold refreshments after the big walk. We went on Saturday and there was no parking available it is better to catch a bus if you can. Lots of people around but the place is huge so it doesn't feel over crowded. Expect to pay an entrance fee 1000 LK per adult and 500 for a child over 12

This is our second time coming here in five years. There is a 2000 year old story written and lived in these walls. It definitely needs a lot of work to preserve it and make it more interesting, because this amphitheater is a treasure that needs to be known by everyone. We still enjoyed it. My 9 year young daughter was very excited to visit this gem and she loved it.

One of the oldest Amphitheaters in Europe. Visitors can climb old seats, stand in the middle of the theater (and perform if you want). It's not really big, in 10 -15 minutes you can cover inside and outside. Cost at the time of the visit was about US $3 per person. Still, ancient history you can touch and make your imagination wonder is priceless.
