Museum is located in communist era building and it seems that much of exposition is also from this time. Building seems to be not heated and local supervisors are quite cold. Museum has a rich collection of antiquity, up to Byzantine/Latin struggles and there is not much after the conquest of Ottomans. I urge to visit souvenir store- lady there was very nice, helpful. She is selling some quite valuable, old ethnographic items and some items from local craftsmen.

The National Historical Museum in Tirana is a must-visit for anyone interested in Illyrian and Albanian culture and traditions. The museum does an excellent job of showcasing the different eras of Albanian history and telling the story of its people. It's a great place to visit with family, but be aware that there are exhibits about the communist era and its executions that may not be suitable for young children. Overall, the museum is beautiful and well worth a visit. The only downsides were the restroom conditions and no air conditioning.
Mena K — Google review
Quite a disappointment to me. Although it started great, soon we realised most of the informative posters aren’t available in English at all. Although temperature inside was pleasant, I could feel very strong lack of any fresh air.
Still, I consider it a must visit when in Tirana.
Tickets were purchased via MyTicket platform. They offer a discount when buying tickets online, therefore, ticket was purchased for 400 LEK when it’s 500 LEK onsite.

The museum is actually quite detailed, dating from prehistoric times to the Communist period. Most of the older exhibits have English explanation, however the newer things are only in Albanian. Also, Hoxha is not really mentioned. The gift shop leaves something to be desired for. 5 eur for adults. Can spend as much time as you want. We walked rather quickly through, spending about 45 minutes. Unfortunately the nice Soviet Era mosaic on the outside of the building is undergoing renovations so you can't see it. Bathrooms on site.

Feel so bad about this museum .
Really. If they change some things like the interpretation, new ideas or something similar it would be a very interesting one.
They have the potential to do it and i hope they will do it soon.
About the pros of this museum is that it has many pavilions for different ages and eras of our country history.
Everything explained in a nice way.
Also the staff very friendly and helpful!
Ermest Sollaku — Google review
Interesting exhibition of Albania’s rich history up to 1945, though most documentation is very old and only partly (and poorly) translated into English.
A striking omission is that the post-1945 period of Communist terror is barely covered, with only a few exhibits in a single room and hardly any documentation in English. This leaves the impression that this museum is mostly intended to glorify Albania’s past, while brushing over the darkest chapter in the country’s history.
For that reason, it is definitely worth also visiting the Bunk’Art exhibition on the crimes of the Communist regime.
No card payment or payment in EUR possible.
Sebastian Königs — Google review
It is cash only. Don't bother asking- there is no senior discounts for non-Albanians.
Contrary to several of the reviews the artifacts were labeled and described well on the first floor. Most of the second and third floors did not have English descriptions, however.
The first floor has artifacts ranging from the Stone Age to medieval times.
Other exhibits cover the resistance to Ottomans and the communist regime, iconography from Orthodox churches and Mother Teresa.
Gary Brazel — Google review
Only a fifth of museum content is translated to English. I was interested to learn about the communist era but there was no english information. The ancient history section is interesting and updated. Nobody bothered to press play on numerous TVs that were supposed to show video material. 1-2 hour walkthrough. In the gift shop they are literally selling their 100 year old artifact clothing pieces for next to nothing.

Very interesting place to visit, has items from bronze age to war time. Disability friendly with lots of seating areas. I would recommend a visit, lots of renovation works are currently being carried out but this does not affect your visit

Museum about the full history of Albania. Has a lot of things to see. When you enter the museum it looks a bit empty and outdated. There’s a few rooms that are still empty. We got the tickets really fast which aren’t expensive, like €3. You can really take about 3 hours to go through the whole museum. Small downside is that not everything is translated in English, which makes you miss some information.
Patrick 1304 — Google review
Nice museum with many different exhibitions. Quite big bit but lacks on English explanations (it has some but most big texts are in albanian). Needs some lighting improvements.
Price 500 lek.
Pedro Vera Obrador — Google review
A well equipped museum with plenty of artefacts. Tickets are cheap priced at 500 LEK each. For an English only speaker such as myself, the first half is fine where English translations on descriptions are shown. However in the second halfish, only Albanian language is shown so it made it very difficult to understand the artefacts. Is very hot inside too so consider that if the day is hot, there is no air conditioners only pedestal fans. Would recommend going if you are in Tirana :)
Charlie Lewis — Google review
Nice museum with a good collection reaching from ancient to modern times. Bigger than expected (1-2h). The first floor seems to be modernized. The other floors are mostly without any English translation. Cash only and no euro is being accepted.
Antonios Liamis — Google review
The museum is full of excellent information, and is nicely laid out.
I particularly liked the ancient history - artefacts from over 2,000 years ago, and a good explanation of the ancient Illyrians.
It then walked through the middle ages through to the formation of the current Albanian state in the early 20th century, explaining the importance of language and how various people played their part.
The second world war fight against fascism was also covered in detail, showing how the communist party led the fight. However, the museum's main exhibitions finished there, with nothing about the Hoxha years.
The building was very nice, quiet but welcoming to children, and spacious. It gave me a lot of insight into the Albanian people.
Some of the exhibits had English translations, but many did not.
You need to give at least 2h to visit, but I think I stayed for about 5h. There was no food on sale.
Iain Wright — Google review
From the outside it is very beautiful, but inside it is empty. Even though it is the National Museum, there is not too much to see and the thing I didn't like is that many objects didn't have captions in English. Trust me, a large part of the museum was incomprehensible because there was no translation.
Be careful, you cannot photograph part of the museum, it is indicated where necessary.
The entrance fee is cheap
NotCasi — Google review
A great museum depicting the ancient and modern history of Albania. From the cave people to modern evolution of Albania is captured via different artefacts and pieces of historical places and events.
Imran Hossain Bhuiyan (IHB) — Google review
This is one of the most fascinating museums in Europe. The displays are not sufficient for the quality of artifacts (including pictured mosaic) and the layout needs some serious investment and redesign, but it is fascinating for its presentation. It seems to have an issue with its identity as you move from room to room - ancient history is routine, the "Anti-Fascist" struggle is the largest single series of rooms and displays and the museum essentially ends with crimes of the Communist regime with almost nothing about the last 30 years. There is quite a bit of renovation underway, so this may all change.
Jeremy Simms — Google review
Very cool museum! I enjoyed visiting. Although some things were not provided in English I didn't mind, I got to work on learning some Albanian which was a good experience! They have a wide variety of items which I found unique. I would say to visit if you get the opportunity))
Viktor Mendez — Google review
I never expected to have an experience like this… Visiting this museum I learned even more than I thought I know from books or internet, also I found a lots of historical artcrafts that was amazing. The energy inside this museum is incredible. It felt like you were in another area of time. And for the last sunday of month entry was free from 10 am to 3 pm,you could just ask for a ticket and access all the exhibitions of museum.
Adriola Ruko — Google review
Probably 4 stars but it is an extensive museum where you will surely learn things. Covers a wide time range, Bronze Age to WW2. Maps, objects, photos, clothing are all part of the museum. There is even an iconography section which includes stuff from Kosovo.
Generally there is a bit too much writing in bunched up mega-paragraphs in each section. Not a great way to transmit the knowledge. People would walk right by a lot of it like “Sorry this happened to you Albania but I’m not reading all that.” Text is in Albanian and English only.
Worth the 500 lek entry but hard to understand why they close at 4pm and don’t take euros or card. Definitely one of the best museums in the country.
Skanderbeg Square is a large, central square in the capital of Albania that features a national hero monument and surrounding historic buildings. The statue of Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeu, the most famous Albanian national hero of all time, is the main attraction of this square.
Beautiful big square! Lovely!
Clean, like everything else in Tirana!
I wonder how this will look like during the summer with the heat and everything hot! I'd like to see the fountains and have the opportunity to feel it again during another season!
Cheers!

It is a quite large square and several touristic attractions can be seen around it. Unfortunately the mosque and the clock tower became indistinct due to the building rising just behind them. I think this is a general problem in developing countries. Free wifi is available in the square which is wuite helpful for tourists.

Loved the place! Late November and they were setting up stalls, decorations and all things festive December. Lots of interesting places on and immediately round the square. Round a square! History Museum, a gorgeous mosque, statues, the opera house and more. I'm pretty sure you couldn't avoid the place if you tried. Airport shuttle goes from very nearby too.

Huge public square in the shape of a small hill for the rainwater to flow... built with different types of marbles brought from all over Albania.
There are still communist buildings in a very poor state of preservation... next to the new skyscrapers... a curious mix.
A visit to the center of Tirana is essential...with pleasant terraces in the Opera building.

At the heart of Tirana, the square is quite magnificent looking and fitting for a budding tourist city. See it as the centre point of new Tirana, resplendent with Albania imagery, from before communism and after.

Awesome place to sit and relax whenever you are in Tirana & visit the tourist sites which are around the square. In our 6 days stay in Tirana we visited the square everyday just to chill & enjoy the lively full of energy happenings around the square and enjoy the lovely food in the restaurants just a stone throw away from the square.

Central large open square with the famous slanderbeg statue as well as the natural history museum, opera and the I love tirana. Because the square is so large it never seemed crowded eventough many people, both tourist and locals, crossing it every day. It's an good starting point to and from eitber busses to airport, the mountains or other parts of the city; to the parks and shopping streets; or to the suburbs.
A central point like this really gives something extra to a city and there's a lot of history there. Esthetically maybe not the most beautiful square, however I loved the stones that were used and the square resembles the complex albanian history making it an important place and starting point of your journey in Tirana.

What a square.. a huge space with such an eclectic mix of architecture and history surrounding it. From the mosque to the opera, the old and the new it really is worth walking around and sitting a while to absorb the atmosphere. Plenty of seating around the edges including the cafes outside the opera house.

This was the third time that I have visited here Albania, Tirana and Skanderbeg Square, but most likely on new year, I haven't seen such thing, especially that fireworks 🎇 Really amazing, mesmerizing, unbelievable. Couldn't even sleep that night, there were many activities and events during that week. But of course most important is Balkan atmosphere.. I wasn't expecting that much but really was cool. Even in summer and winter, only disadvantage is you need to do stock especially when you are visiting as tourist and will stay in hostel or in a flat. 😅
I highly recommend you to visit any time you want, although there are some restricted things to do in Tirana but certainly you will have great time, take every opportunity. Foods as well and many amazing cafés & restaurants. Try traditional cuisine as well :)

There is underground parking at this location although entrance/exit points are very narrow. The parking is not free.

This mosque, built in the 18th century, is one of Skanderbeg Square's most iconic attractions. The Mosque features colourful frescoes both inside and out, as well as being an important part of Tirana's history. In 1991, 10,000 people came together outside the mosque in an event which helped contribute to the fall of Albania's communist government.
Gorgeous, quite distinctive mosque in the centre of Tirana. Like almost every other mosque in Albania, is one of the oldest mosques in Albania. That's what iconoclasm gets you.
Alex Cheyne — Google review
This is one of very few mosques in Albania to resist the communist regime without being demolished. It has an ottoman architecture but it is quite unique with its still life paintings, something rarely seen in Islamic architecture. It's a first-category monument of culture. It is also one of the most beloved mosques for muslims in Tirana, since it is located right in the city center, it is one of the oldest and it is a symbol of survival of faith.

A very beautiful and very well preserved Ottoman mosque. Takes the visitor back to that period. A museum for non-muslims and full functioning mosque for Muslims where prayer is carried out with Jammat 5 times a day. Peaceful, clean and filled with friendly amazing people.
We prayed Fajr, Zuhar and Isha there. Ladies can do abolution if they are there 30-50 minutes before the prayer time and have a separate section for praying. For men the abolution are is just down in the basement and they can pray in inside hall or outside hall.

The Hajji Et'hem Bey Mosque (Albanian: Xhamia e Haxhi Et'hem Beut) is a mosque in Tirana, Albania which is a cultural monument. The mosque is adorned with beautiful frescoes outside and in the portico depicting trees, waterfalls and bridges (typically walls are white and this is an exception). Tourists can go inside but need to take off shoes and comply with the dress code. Pictures without flash are allowed to be taken inside. The mosque construction was started in late 18th century and finished in early 19th century. It survived the years of communism and functions as a mosque today. It takes 10-15 minutes to complete the tour (i.e., go inside to appreciate the history and beauty of the building) and is highly recommended. Entry is free. Friendly staff inside could provide additional guidance /support.

The Et'hem Bej Mosque stands as a symbol of Albania's religious and cultural heritage. What makes it truly remarkable is its remarkable history, surviving years of communist rule and serving as a beacon of religious freedom since the early 1990s. The interior, adorned with intricate frescoes, is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of its builders. Visitors seeking both architectural beauty and a glimpse into Albania's past will find the Et'hem Bej Mosque a captivating and peaceful destination worth exploring.

Great structure. It's massive
You will need to climb some stairs, but you'll enjoy a fantastic view from the top
It has seats and some viewpoints, too
The piramid is surrounded by a beautiful park, and some creative buildings
Great place to go, and spent some time on the top to enjoy the different views

Don’t expect a pristine, shiny looking sight. The building is in a derelict state and you can’t go inside - you can only have a look through the broken parts of windows. However, this place is definitely worth visiting when you’re in Tirana. It will definitely give you an insight into the communist part of Albanian history.

The Pyramid of Tirana is a really cool attraction that you shouldn't miss when you visit the city! It's a huge, pyramid-shaped building in the center of town that was built a long time ago, during a time when the country was very different.
Inside, you can explore different floors full of exhibits that show what Albania was like in the past. It's super interesting to learn about the country's history and see all the cool stuff on display.
The Pyramid is also a really unique and impressive building. It's so big and imposing, it really stands out in the city. Even if you don't know anything about its history, you'll be in awe of its size and design.
At the same time, the Pyramid is also kind of controversial because of its past associations with the former dictatorship. Some people want it taken down, while others want it preserved in some way. Either way, it's a really important part of Tirana's history and identity.
Overall, if you're interested in history, architecture or just something really cool to see, definitely go check out the Pyramid of Tirana when you visit the city!

An interesting piece of Albanian history and one of several abandoned places that are worth exploring. It is easy to enter and many people do, but watch your step when you walk around, as the place is in disrepair. You can climb some stairs to see the upper floors or go to the basement, but again, be careful where you step. Also, it seems that some people (probably homeless) are staying there at night, so you'll encounter some trash and waste.

I visited today (April 2019) and they are in the process of blocking it off. Fence encompasses the entire front side, working around each side. The back is still open but it appears they plan to circle the whole building. Very quirky architecture and sad to see it in such disrepair. Hopefully someone is getting ready to do an update!

Do visit this Pyramid when you are on a walking tour from Skanderberg square to visit the nearby attractions. It is still there beer renovation & after completion will be turned into an Tech place to support start-ups in Albania as informed by our tour guide. It is not an actual Pyramid but a structure like it where you can climb few steps & have a look of the surrounding from the top.

A must see spot in Tirana! Huge building in the middle of a big park that takes up a whole block, it’s an impressive construction and hard to miss from afar. It’s very nicely lighten up during the sunset and night and the surroundings are also well maintained along with some interesting new constructions.
It has 200 steps but the view is worth it, it’s a bit of a shame that some of the new buildings are blocking some of it though. It provides a nice 360 view, and it’s quite interesting to see both sides of the city so clearly.
The pyramid has also a long history, as it has been there for a long time and it’s nice to see that it has been repurposed to serve the city and the country.

The Roman Amphitheater of Durrës was built under emperor Trajan in 2nd century and was destroyed twice by earthquakes in the 6th and 10th centuries. It is still preserved very well, considering everything. Its capacity was estimated from 15000 to 18000 spectators. It was discovered in 1966 and it is a place you must see while visiting the city.
Daniel Haman — Google review
The ruins of the Roman amphitheater are in the middle of the center of Durrës and would be hard to miss if you're looking for whatever little remains of the ancient part of the city. You might be tempted not pay the admission price because most of the ruins are visible from the streets that surround it. But if you're a lover of archaeology and you want to get a closer look at the location of gladiator fights in a Roman province, a stroll inside is essential. You might have to do a little bit of careful climbing, but it's part of the adventure. Well worth the detour.
Georges Younes — Google review
What a great spot to see and feel history, the admission price of 400 leks for two of us is very reasonable. There is no guided tour here, you just walk around by yourself and it's perfect!!! You walk out on the field in the middle as well.
There's also a really cool mosaic in one the rooms.

Nice day out with family. Plenty to see if you like archaeological sites and ruins, it is a long walk around with some uneven ground where it is difficult to walk. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes for climbing. Lots of shaded areas yo stop and rest
The coffee shop is very overpriced but comes in handy for cold refreshments after the big walk. We went on Saturday and there was no parking available it is better to catch a bus if you can. Lots of people around but the place is huge so it doesn't feel over crowded. Expect to pay an entrance fee 1000 LK per adult and 500 for a child over 12

This is our second time coming here in five years. There is a 2000 year old story written and lived in these walls. It definitely needs a lot of work to preserve it and make it more interesting, because this amphitheater is a treasure that needs to be known by everyone. We still enjoyed it. My 9 year young daughter was very excited to visit this gem and she loved it.

Great place to visit but poor service.
I went there the last Sunday of October.
The last Sunday of each month you can visit all the historical museums and parks without paying if you are Albanian.
But the lady who worked there didn't let me to go in,because she told me that I have to pay.
I went to the Archeological museum too, and there I could visit the place without paying.
The law is not the same 😉🤔

The place is OK, it's cheap to get in but nothing special to see. If they dig out a bit more and cater for international tourists it will help. It's one of the handful of places to visit in Durres so you might as well pop in to it.
Stuart Hurcomb — Google review
The biggest Roman amphitheater on the Balkan peninsula! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. And there is no need to pay the entrance fee, just walk around it and you will have a great view from above!
Marc Stadler — Google review
A lot of history here. If you go to the street above the amphitheater, you can have an ample view of the complex. Worth going there.

What a place, can only imagine what it was like, but beautiful to wander around and take it in
Chris Scott — Google review
One of the oldest Amphitheaters in Europe. Visitors can climb old seats, stand in the middle of the theater (and perform if you want). It's not really big, in 10 -15 minutes you can cover inside and outside. Cost at the time of the visit was about US $3 per person. Still, ancient history you can touch and make your imagination wonder is priceless.
Val Klionsky — Google review
Old but in ruins. Enter after paid some euros. You can see everything from outside.
It's hard to find, and not open 24hrs (only at Salah times). Nevertheless, beautiful and peaceful
Ismail Isakji — Google review
It's been said as historical places, but it's less than 100 years old. It's built in 1938.
Just normal mosque. Tickets are not required.

If you're strolling around the center of Durres, you'll come across this older mosque. It's understated, but it's peaceful and worth a few minutes of your time.

One of the most visited museums in the country, the Archaeological Museum in the ancient coastal city of Durrës is a comprehensive introduction to Albania’s rich history throughout the millennia.
The largest museum in the country, the Durrës Archaeological Museum holds some of the most treasured prehistoric and ancient objects in the history of Albania. It is situated by the seaside promenade, the museum offers a journey through the rich history of this very important city by the sea as well as the entire country.
Currently is undergoing some renovation.

Interesting, but... Only the first floor was open to public. 25 euro seemed a lot for a 20 minute visit. Very hot inside.

Good items at display, and I think nice description with every one, so you will like to see all. Nowadays only ground floor is open, they are working on firat floor.
Syed Hamid Akbar — Google review
Meticulously curated museum with a downloadable video and text guide in many languages. Many of the artifacts shown are intact - an indication of how careful the excavations were executed. Only the ground floor has so far been filled, so it is worthwhile coming back to when all three floors will be.
Elpidio Rafanan — Google review
It's beautifully arranged and the entrance fee is only 300 Lek (around 3 euro), unfortunately at the time I have visited, the upper floors were closed for maintenance and new articles prepared for the next exposition.

Very interesting and well equipped museum!
The staff was very helpful.
Unfortunately we are still waiting for the upper floors.

I wish there were more exhibits inside the museum, it is kind of small. Very interesting nonetheless - everything is carefully curated and displayed pleasantly.

Good museum. Quite cheap, so you must visit it. Performs good antique archaeological goods (pods, tools, jewelery), some of which are renovated, the other part is new.
Unfortunately, second and third floor of this beautiful museum were closed and I am unable to tell you about them. The overall look of museum is good, it is worth to visit it.

One of my most liked beaches i have been.
Water crystal clear, not so crowded, sandy beaches and amazing views.

This place is very well located, but can not imagine to stay here more than one day and night… Very unpleasant sea, not good for families with children, for swimming also not good, but maybe because of wind I was there….
If the sea is calm after that yes is good place… but again for one day and night if you like to discover more from Albania.
If you like big waves enjoy…. but not for me thanks. Second problem is a rubish everywhere…
Good is - Parking, sun beds and umbrellas are for free… during my stay

Pebble stones with sand on the beach. Cozy camping with cafes. Nice place, not overcrowded on the weekend. The road to the place is not paved sometimes and goes across steep hills

Nice beach, with a nice bar above the water and a good restaurant. There are bungalows and a camping nearby. The road to it is partly bad.

One of the best gems in Albanian riviera, an amazing place with views that will take u breath away!!
A perfect place for an quite and relaxing vacation.
Road is a bit not decent but still easily manageable, approximately 20min from the nearest highway so u can enjoy the view that gives u mountain till u arrive at beach with some slow drive.
There are 2 restaurants where one serves till 5PM mostly traditional food and the other which offers u breakfast and dinner, staff it was respectful, friendly and helpful.
Accommodations are perfectly located in mountain shadows and give u an amazing evening or morning panorama of the sea which is quite breathtaking, some of them seemed to be newly made however I had some of the oldest cabins which was a bit outdated but still meets all the criteria for an comfortable stay!
Finally the beach is one of most clean and crystal water beachfront, umbrellas are nicely arranged and are giving u good privacy between visitors. However the main component the water looks to have the major impact at this gem since when i was on last week of July water was surprisingly tooo cold!!!! It was maybe because the days before were rainy but still the beaches in the nearby cities very having a big difference?! I could sadly say that u cannot go for a swim more than 1min as u will freeze to that level that u start feeling the pain from cold!!

Sandy ⛱️, not crowded, 2 sunbeds and umbrella 800 leka, water was little colder, and there were waves all day. You have free parking, restaurants, it's very good to spend one day if You are in Durres or Golem. Road is bumpy and dusty in the end about 3km no asphalt.

The road was damaged but you can go to the destination with any kind of car if you show caution. To get to the destination you will have a breathtaking view.... The place ofers you a lot of services like camping exept the market... you can have a nice weekend with your friends or family 😊

Berat Castle is a vast 13th-century fortress that once accommodated numerous churches and a mosque. Positioned on top of a hill, it requires some exertion to walk up from the bus station, but it's feasible with large bags. Along the way, there are budget-friendly dining options available. However, those who prefer not to walk can arrange transportation ahead of time. Staying at the base of Berat Castle is shorter than staying inside the fortress itself.
Access to the castle is unrestricted, you can walk around really freely. There are bars, restaurants and souvenir shops at the top. Also there are some guesthouses.
The walk up to the castle is a difficult one, there’s is parking at the top so if you have access to a car it might be wise to drive up.
Niall Smith — Google review
Berat Castle is a fortress overlooking the town of Berat. It is one of the few castles with houses and residents living in it alongside restaurants, cafes and multiple historic sites. It has many Byzantine churches and ottoman mosques. The entry is free. It is essentially a town inside another town. It is a steep walk up from the town below to the Castle (but this portion is accessible by a car) and requires a bit of up and down walking in the castle. As such comfortable shoes are a must. But overall it is absolutely worth it because it offers stunning views from various vantage points in the Castle and historic treasures abound. I suggest setting aside a few hours to enjoy as many cultural sites as possible and time your visit to take in the sunset.

We drove over an hour specifically for this place and it did not disappoint us. Beautiful site. Habitable ancient castle with narrow streets. Occupies top of the hill with strategic views on surroundings. Cozy inside. Below is an ancient village worth visiting too.

The castle in Berat is a fascinating place, exuding the rustic charm of ancient Byzantine times. Its ancient structures serve as a window into the past, allowing you to see how people once lived there. The family preserving traditions for five generations adds a unique spirit to this place. You'll delight in discovering homes preserved since Byzantine times and relish the view of 1000 windows in Berat, which once accommodated up to 800 families. It's truly a unique journey through history and traditions.

Amazing views over the city, one of Albania's many beautiful castles on top of a mountain, it's overall well preserved but in need of some maintenance here and there, many places to see inside the castle walls, coffee's, restaurants, souvenir shops and also small hotels or guest houses are available, you can also book guided tours in many languages. Definitely a must see when visiting the historical city of Berat

Berat Castle (Albanian: Kalaja e Beratit), also referred to as the Citadel of Berat and castle quarter, is a fortress overlooking the town of Berat, Albania. It dates mainly from the 13th century and contains many Byzantine churches in the area and Ottoman mosques.[1] It is built on a rocky hill on the left bank of the river Osum and is accessible only from the south. It is situated at an elevation of 214 metres. Wikipedia

AMAZING loved the medieval citadel at the top of Berat. Enjoyed wandering the streets, getting slightly lost and finding my way again. Not suitable for wheelchair users or if you aren’t confident walking as it’s a town or trip hazards! The history is fascinating, the museum is well
worth a visit and the views sublime. The cafes and handicrafts are all a fair price. The views sublime.

Very nice and large castle. It takes more or less 2h to visit all the spots. The entrance was free and the restaurants inside are not overpriced.
Inside there are some horses for tourist walk but please avoid..
To arrive there you have to walk 20 minutes from Berat on a steep road under the sun so just remember to bring a bottle of water.
Reicela Mackevica — Google review
It’s a free tour, which is already amazing! I highly recommend to go around 5-7pm, when the sun goes down and you can enjoy a nice sunset! Plus the hike up there, it’s pretty steep so if you do it under the heat, it’s tough!
You can also go with the free local guided tour, they go up with you, walk you around the castle and show you a lot of spots: the mosque, the churches, the viewpoint and explain the whole story of the city from above.
Highly recommend, it was very enjoyable

For a brit such as I this is a completely different way of doing castles. On this craggy hilltop above Berat a whole village of homes, hotels, cafes and ruins is compressed into a delightful experience of Balkan history.

Berat Castle stands as an unparalleled testament to Albania's rich history and cultural heritage, offering visitors an immersive journey through time. As one ascends the old road leading to the castle, flanked by the quintessential Berat houses, a profound sense of awe and reverence envelops the soul.
The cobblestone path winds its way through a picturesque landscape, where traditional Ottoman-style dwellings, with their white stone walls and red-tiled roofs, stand proudly as guardians of the past. Each step along this ancient thoroughfare feels like a pilgrimage, honoring the generations of inhabitants who have called this enchanting city home.
The emotion evoked while traversing this historic route is akin to stepping into a living museum, where the past seamlessly intertwines with the present. The scent of centuries-old stone mingles with the fragrant blooms of bougainvillea, creating a sensory tapestry that transports visitors to another era. With every passing moment, anticipation builds, culminating in the breathtaking sight of Berat Castle perched majestically atop the hill.
As the castle comes into view, its imposing silhouette against the backdrop of the azure sky inspires a sense of wonder and admiration. The centuries-old fortress, with its formidable walls and commanding towers, exudes an aura of timeless grandeur. It serves as a poignant reminder of Albania's storied past, where empires rose and fell, leaving behind a legacy etched in stone. For those fortunate enough to visit Berat Castle in the afternoon, a truly magical experience awaits. As the sun begins its descent, casting a warm golden glow over the city below, the castle is bathed in an ethereal light. The interplay of shadows and illumination creates a mesmerizing spectacle, transforming the ancient stones into shimmering beacons of history.
I highly recommend timing your visit to coincide with the evening hours, when the fading light gives way to the gentle twinkle of street lamps and the flickering glow of candles. This enchanting ambiance lends an air of romance to the castle grounds, inviting visitors to linger and savor the beauty of the moment. In conclusion, Berat Castle is a true gem of Albania, deserving of its five-star rating.
From the emotional journey along the old road to the awe-inspiring sight of the castle itself, every aspect of the experience is nothing short of extraordinary. Whether you're a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or simply a lover of beauty, a visit to Berat Castle promises memories that will last a lifetime.

Beautiful castle the unique thing about this castle is that people still live there inside the castle area there is also old houses same style of the whole village and some nice restaurants shops super cool to see them caring the culture and the history until today ✨ the castle take about 1h for a complete tour under the flag there is a really beautiful view of the whole village. On the other side there is also a beautiful view of the other side of the village with a beautiful church from the 1300. the sunset view with the mountains in the background is insane and that is also what is unique about Albania in general. The toilet were closed don’t forget your water and snacks. To get there there is a hike from the river side where you can see the church all the way to the castle. Amon good map you can find the normal road to get to the castle.

The castle walls and the houses inside have a historical structure. However, it is truly astonishing that ordinary people still live inside. There are cafes and restaurants inside. I also recommend you to visit the church inside. For those coming from the terminal, I do not recommend walking if the weather is rainy. Because the cobblestones in the side street become wet and slippery.
Ahmet Yağmur — Google review
Set aside three to four hours as it's a whole village within the castle walls including hotels, restaurants and cafes. It's a steep climb up a cobbled road to reach the castle but doable for the reasonably fit. You can drive up or get a taxi as there is car parking up there.
The views from the top are spectacular.

The Onufri Museum is a collection of Byzantine icons and religious objects that are displayed at the Church of the Dormition of St Mary in Kala, Albania. The church, which dates back to 1797 and was built on an earlier chapel from the 10th century, features stunning gilded iconostasis from the 19th century alongside Onufri's impressive 16th-century religious paintings.
Very well preserved and put-together, I found this museum highly worthwhile and enjoyable with the audio guide. The music is well-chosen on it and adds a lot! One of the better museums I’ve seen in Albania.

It won't take the 90 minutes you see on the signs, but it is certainly worth 30 minutes. The audio tour is optional; the museum is well signed in English. The church is well maintained, and if you like icons, it's a must see.

A good chance to see what an old Orthodox church looks like including the altar area which normally can only be accessed by priests.
Onufri was a famous icon painter beginning in the middle of the 16th century AD. Many of his paintings are displayed here along with others by anonymous artists.
Gary Brazel — Google review
To visit this museum, you must be fond of art and especially iconography. This place has some not very authentic artifacts, but few of them really leave an impression when you look at them. I don't think that the price is discussed in museums, but for those interested, I am telling you that the price is negligible for what you will enjoy! 😊
Joana Gjeka — Google review
The site is amazing and worth visiting, but the staff and general corruption of the place is stunning.
They claim not having student discount for foreign people, only Albanian (talk about discrimination lol, when in other countries, EU or not, a student is a student always if they are able to show ID). See picture with sign attached and tell me where is the constraint they claim.
They said that is the rule (according to government, never seen a paper of it, just had to take their word) but the sign isn't clearly specifying that 'albanian-only' rule
And they won't give a complaints book of any sort when requested... Corruption once again.
They also advised to go into their museum website to buy the tickets online but the purchasing URL is broken and the page isn't even implemented (not even in Albanian). Unbelievable. Talk about loopholes to charge more...
We're here spending our money visiting their heritage, but if they themselves are unable to stand by their own rules, well... Then that's a hint on why they're not yet EU.
I went in anyway and encourage to do so, but bear in mind that pls, there's discrimination, ironically.
LAURA AGUERA SANTIAGO — Google review
Is worth to visit it if you are interested in art but bare in mind that service and presentation could be better. Museum is located in old church. You can see in one place several icons which were also previously presented in West European galleries. You can go behind iconostasis, which is rather unique opportunity.
Opens only till 18:00 in summer and 3 minutes later everyone must be out. You have to plan 1,5h for visit otherwise you will just run through it...
Judging from comments price increased lately from 200 ALL to 400 ALL. Audio-guide cost extra 100 ALL. It is worth to take it as explaines details which you won't find in poor description near paintings... However it's not perfect as well. In several places it should contain extra information under green button which was missing. When I asked about it in ticket office none was really bothered...
Another thing is most of the wall paintings are barely visible due to poor/ lack of light. It's not allowed to do pictures inside but everyone does as you can see in many reviews.

Not very big but nice for an afternoon walk around 👍 I loved the buildings structures. Restaurant at the top of the hill don't miss it lol..

Amazing place to see the historical architecture and feel the ancient vibes! Really enjoyed the visit, although giving it only 4 stars for inconvenience - it was impossible to pay by card, both for the tickets as well as for food in cafes on site. Would be alright if there was an ATM nearby, but unfortunately there wasn’t… So definitely worth a visit, but don’t forget some cash
Tanya J — Google review
Large site but there is little sign posting and the number on the map provided didn't seem to correspond to the ones on site.
Museum was nice, lots of items on display.
A little disappointed as I think it has good potential
Closed Mondays.

Nice place with the ruins of the ancient city of Fier called Apollonia. When we were there, some new ruins were discovered and when you go there some others might be there as well. It is a very nice place but i am giving it 4 stars only because the place is a bit dirty, as we found the usual plastic bottles on the grass and other trash, and because getting there is a bit hard as there are not many road signals or they are hard to read.
Elis Lulja — Google review
Nice but a lot of stuff has not been excavated yet. Archeological enthusiasts will for sure love this place. It’s huge and we did not have time to discover it all because of bad weather. Be aware that entrance is approximately 1000 lek and you can pay by cash only.

Great Roman site, but stay close to the main square hunting for the theater is not worth it.

Most beautiful think I’ve seen in Albania as an albanian. Breathtaking! Totally understand why a civilization was built here.

Loved the place ancient . Full of history. Special . Worth going .
Marjo Arifi — Google review
I confess I do love an archaeological site. But Apollonia does a really impressive job of transforming this large site into an actual lived-in city, whilst also maintaining pleasant grounds with landscaping and wild flowers in abundance. The signage has clearly been updated with CGI images of how the ruins would have appeared (particularly impressive with the Arch and two-storey promenade) and the portico and odeon are hugely impressive in their own right. The monastery and museum are also very photogenic and nice to walk around (a young couple were having wedding photos there), though the museum's collection of busts and pottery could be better curated. Most excitingly for me, I stood in the Library where Octavius Augustus most likely studied - top celeb-spotting! Well worth a visit
Adam Phillips — Google review
Well preserved archaeological site. Definitely worth a detour. You can access the place via the theater which is a bit outside the park.
Cost: 600 leke
There is a lot to see and the museum with the sites provide decent amount of details on history.
About 1h30 for full visit with walking all around the site

Nice archeological place, with simple explanations in Albanian, English and French. A bit less enjoyable when it’s too hot (went in July) but still with a few trees and shadows.
Not as impressive as other famous archeological sites (Rome, Pompei, Athens) but worth a visit if it happens to be around the area. A nice 1-2h stop.

St. Mary's Monastery, also known as Zvernec Monastery, is a unique religious site located on an island within the Narta Lagoon to the north of Vlore. The monastery is secluded and mythical, making it an impressive destination for visitors. It features a beautiful church with old Byzantine icon paintings on its walls. The surrounding area offers stunning water views and picturesque sunsets, making it a popular spot for bridal photoshoots.
The monastery is small, however the bridge connecting to the monastery is spectacular. It's curvy and sturdy, extremely special. We went at off peak season so there's no one else. We parked at the roadside in front of the deck and there is one vendor selling food and drinks.
Yan Ying Lim — Google review
Beautifully preserved/restored monastery built during the second half of the 14th century. Lovely stroll out to the site via a wooden foot bridge. Saw several birds and lots of crabs in the water. No admission fee but there was a donation box inside the chapel. Worth a visit if you’re in the area but otherwise I probably wouldn’t go out of my way. We were only there about 20 minutes.
Michelle Hayes — Google review
It's a very pretty monastery. It has been well preserved since the renovation. The foot bridge out to it needs about two dozen boards replaced, so be careful. The island cats are very chill. The sign says no pictures, but the security guard doesn't mind if you take some.
Alex n Bonnie Allen — Google review
Beautiful monastery, taking pictures inside is forbidden. You can buy and put a candle, but they are blown away by a security guard immediately after your departure. I recommend visiting if you have already been to all the other good places
Yurii Vdovenko — Google review
Amazing monastery secluded in a faraway island found in a lagoon. It is quite mythical, and most certainly impressive. We actually walked the entire path from Vlore to here, which was a beautiful walk where you can find bunkers buried in people’s gardens and more. The road is in fact quite sunny and full of bugs though so be prepared for that. It was relatively quick and easy to hitchhike back home as well.
MUSTAFA SERDAR KARAKAYA — Google review
Covered in pines, this small gorgeous island off the coast of Vlora can be reached by walking along a 270- meter-long bridge, offering the visitor a one-of-a-kind experience with nature.
Sitting at 30 meters above sea level, this picturesque island is named after the village of the same name, located about 13 km from the city of Vlora. Famous for its stunning forest of tall pines extending along nine hectares of land, the fairly small island also hosts the well-preserved 13th century byzantine Monastery of St. Mary. While Zvërnec is indeed compact in size, at approximately 400 meters in length and 300 meters in width, the island packs a magical experience.
Diana G — Google review
It’s a nice and quiet place but far from what the pictures show.
The water is boggy and smells terrible, quite a lot of trash as well. The bridge it’s pretty run down.
The monastery is nice, very small but clean and well maintained.

Zvernec Monastery is located on Narta Lagoon. I walked from Vlore, but about 20 minutes with a car. You will be able to see marine life in the lagoon: fish, crabs and some flamingos if you're lucky. The monastery is very well maintained, beautiful and peaceful. Make sure you visit the nearby naval bunker, fire control bunker, lighthouse, beaches- all with beautiful views. Most visitors miss these places.
Jim Harmon — Google review
Even if you dont believe in God you have to visit this place. This monastery is located on a small island in 'Laguna E Nartes'. Also if you are lucky you can see flamingos and other rare species.

Beautiful and quiet place, perfect for walking and some peace and quiet. You can visit the monastery for free. We loved walking on the bridges and seeing the fish, crabs, turtles and frogs.

This historic Monastery and church was a short 30min drive from the city Center.
Beautiful water views , capturing sunsets are stunning. A great back ground for couples getting photos on their wedding day.
Be mindful as bare shoulder are not allowed to enter.
Bathing in these water is frowned upon as they as sacred waters, as I was told.
It’s a popular area with bridal photos too.

It’s a nice and pretty place, worth going to.
Although the water is boggy and not crystal like other pictures. The bridge has seen its best days.
The monastery itself is nice, very small but clean and well maintained.

If you are near Vlore, you have to come here. It is absolutely beautiful. Try to come at times when there would be close to no people and you will end up with breathtaking pictures.
Zuzana Plšková — Google review
We drove out to the St. Mary's Monastery. The water surrounding the bridge was boggy and not as pretty as we have seen in the photos on Google. It could of been the time of the year we visited. Regardless, it is still worth the trip out there. The church was beautiful and calming. People come out here to pray, so be respectful. It is incredible to see such old Byzantine icons paintings on the walls. There are a couple of vendors selling water and snacks before the bridge.

Beautiful landscape, the Monastery is well maintained historic site with long peers to walk there. Parking available and easy walk to get to it.
Independence Monument, a symbol of Albania's liberation from the Ottoman Empire in 1912, was designed by Mumtaz Dhrami. The monument reflects the heroic Communist style and is surrounded by a well-maintained park with benches for relaxation. Nearby attractions include the Muradie Mosque and ancient ruins of Vlora. Vlore offers beautiful beaches and warm seas, making it an ideal holiday destination.
Vlore is a lovely place to go for a visit or even to stay at an apartment for a holiday as the beach here is lovely and the sea is perfect. You can walk out for ages and you are just up to your waist in the water. So warm. Feels lovely on your skin. I would go back there.. loved vlore.

One of the most important monuments of Albania if you're a tourist you must visit here! But as of April 2022 there is a lot of construction around the monument. Otherwise this monument is a amazing visit to see a giant statue honoring our country's independence movement!

Impressive monument in celebration of Albania's independence from the Ottoman Empire proclaimed in Vlore in 1912. The monument itself dates from the 70s so it is typical of the heroic Communist style. The park near it is clean and well maintained. Don't miss the ancient ruins of Vlora very nearby

Very nice little beach. With cool music playing & a good snack bar. « Only » 4 stars because it’s a pebble beach. So if you don’t mind, go for it 👍
Stephan Croix — Google review
Unfortunately I have to give 2 stars, the sea is very good, the vibe is nice and the umbrella is in line with the other places. Nevertheless, as many other beaches, the whole place is missing the basics. When trying to order a beer they only have german ones, I am in Albania and I want to experience the local taste. I had to go to the place next to it. We tried to get some food, and they did not have any pasta or pizza, they literally told us to leave. I can’t even comment the toilet situation which is unspeakable.
The service is ok, the guys are trying the best and are as helpful as they can be. During peak hours you can def see the stress from them and they scream at each other, this can scare away clients and they are totally chaotic.
On a note, I want to give a shout out to the guy with tattoos, I really enjoyed his approach and smile and calmness with clients, good job!

This place was recommended to us by our hotel. Overall It is quite average. They don’t accept credit card - don’t speak English. Service is not really friendly. Asked for a taxi on our way back - no response from staff. Menu is quite basic - pizzas were good size/average taste (450-800 lek).
Dirty toilets. No changing cabins. Overall cleanness of the facility is poor. Loud music throughout the day which doesn’t make sense because general customer base is families with kids. Sea was quite clean, not too deep but rocky. 1000 lek for 2 beds/umbrella (poor quality wooden sunbeds that you can’t position up more than 30 degrees)

This beach is wonderful, but if you prefer less crowded spots like I do, it's best to visit on weekdays. The weekends see a surge in visitors, making parking quite a challenge. For a peaceful experience, opt for a weekday visit. Additionally, be prepared for some rather unfriendly interactions with the locals.
Mendim Arifaj — Google review
I was skeptical due the negative reviews but this beach is super cute and small. Perfect for either a family or group of friends. It is much better to go to this beach rather than all the way to Dhermi.
The beach bar is very nice, beautiful view of the sea, good service and the food is tasty for decent prices.
Umbrella is 1000leki which is a bit overpriced, the chairs were a bit old. Overall this is best beach I have visited in Vlorë region, very similar to Dhermi (I liked Bora Bora better tbh). The beach is with stones, and water is crystal clear. You also have spots where you can jump in the water.
Skip the negative reviews and go check it out. Totally worth it.

The Service is so slow.
The food it’s the worst.
15 min for a salad. 50 min for pasta and 65 for pizza. the prices are relatively high compared with other places and when it comes to an end you don’t get the service or the food.
a lot of staff, but all of them are restless and their behavior is not good.
Aurel Hurdha — Google review
1. The parking is a must here and you have to pay even if you re going in to their private park.
2. They're rude to you if they see that you have a freezer(refrigerator case)for some lotions and water and they will ask you to leave if you don't leave it in to the car.
3. You have to wait alot till someone is coming to pick up your order and at least 1 hour for some food(in total we waited for 2 hours).
4. The water have so many sharp stones and you'll cut your feet trying to get in for a swim.
5. The bathroom was disgusting and we even had a big inspect in to the cabin.
I don't recommend this beach at all.

Coastal strip dotted with thatched umbrellas, resorts & beach bars, known for its clear waters.
Stayed at Social Camping right opposite this beach. The water was beautiful and incredibly clear. Rocky beach, but most of them on this coast are. Loads of sun beds and many bars available! Less hectic than the bigger beaches like Dhermi.

Jala beach is relatively small, but beautiful.
The water is clear, the current is not too strong.
A friendly place with great view.
We have not tried the restaurants there but I'm sure they are normal.
The prices though are quite higher!
Beer on the bar is 500 Lek/5€ and the sun beds are 1,000 Lek for one umbrella 🏖️
Although you can maybe find cheaper ones for 800.
Overall, it is worth a visit!

Great place to spend your summer
It has camping and hotels as well as restaurants and bars.
If you don’t like the beach there with the beach bars you have two more options on more free beaches it’s the aquarium beach and one before that.
The camping was great with all the things provided
Great food, great personnel.
Uki Yo — Google review
As everywhere, Jale beach is packed with sunbeds and parasols that can be rented for 1000 LEK (2 sunbeds + parasol + bean bag). In between the 'private' beaches, there's also a small 'public' area, where you can set up at no extra charge. The water is crystal clear and refreshing, and while we were there, we hardly saw any thrash. There are some people, but during the week it didn't seem overly crowded, more than half of the sunbeds were empty. The beach is accessible by car, and if you're lucky, you can find a free parking space.

Amazing beach, it is a must!!!
(update info before the start of the high season 2023): We went today to Jale beach and there was a huge construction on the last part of the road. We had to leave the car 3.5 km away from the beach, and we faced some parts as showing in the pictures. There are two ways to reach the beach though. The construction is on the road close to the Livadi beach. The other road seemed to be fine. Even though we were not prepared for the 3.5 km walk, it was worth. We had nice views on the path.
Luiza Thimoteo — Google review
Beautiful bay with crystal clear water, perfect conditions for swimming and snorkeling.
The quiet times are over though, the beach is completely covered with parasols an sunbeds and there are beach bars everywhere, playing incredibly loud party music. Especially in the evening hours - you are bombarded with loud music from three different bars at the same time and you can barely have a conversation, even at dinner time in the second row restaurants
Even in the main season the bars are empty and most of the tourists here are families or couples. Why the loud music?
Simon Pfau — Google review
This is an amazing place and amazing beach in Jala. One of the best beaches in Albania. You can go there by can because the road is so good.
People staying there must contribute toake it better and about all to keep it clean because this time i was here there are lots of things everywhere.
Nertil Qatja — Google review
Easy accessible via car and boat. The road is in good condition. You can find a free parking space (if you are lucky with some shade under the tree) or you can pay for parking business around. During the way you have a lot of space for camping (free or prepaid) that is a big ➕️. Beach is amazing, one of the best in entire south Albania, crystal clear water. Further you swim, deeper you see the bottom of the sea with it's flora and fauna. There are some amazing business alongside where you can find everything, bar, restaurants, market etc... There is something for everyone, there is public beach, sunbeds for rent, gazebo also a vip area called Folia at the right part of the beach behind the rocks. At the left side is located a military area where the view is amazing and you can take pictures. Thumb up for Jali beach, one of the finest and well structured of the entire Albania 🇦🇱 😀 👌. A must visit place 📌
Water crystal clear, quite some restaurants around. There is a nice promenade and nice to walk there in the evening. The price for 2 sunbeds and a parasol is between 1000-1500 LEK. Parking can be a problem and the smell of the trash is really bad and strong. I hope they would clean daily and don't let the trash smell very bad.
F. Zefi — Google review
Beautiful beach with white smooth pebbles, the water is clear. The sea here is very deep and the waves were high and strong. We didn’t need any special shoes to enter the sea.
Umbrella + 2 sofas cost 1000 lek/d.
Unfortunately still a lot of trash everywhere, even though the situation is better than in other cities.
There are a lot of restaurants and hotels along the shore. Only at Luciano it was possible to pay contactless.
If you have a car, you can stay in the city (cheaper), otherwise you’ll need 1-2 hours to get from the city to the beach.
Kateryna S — Google review
Beautiful landscape, but for beaching is wrong choice. Not good for families. Cool and expensive. Boastful guys working in bars... People who work in catering much more modest and friendly in Vlora and Durres. On the beach is not sand, there are only stones, you can't walk on them, you can't go into the water without shoes. Water is very cold in end of June, about 18-20 Celsius. In Vlora a sunbed for a day is 300 lek, here 700-1000 lek. (There I got bill, here not, I felt it's scam because I speak other language. Take care when pay here, ask bill.)
I have been many place of the world, it's a strongly overrated place. :)
Gjipe Beach is a secluded and picturesque white sand beach located between Dhermi and Vuno. The beach is surrounded by large cliffs, and there are caves that can be explored in the area. This hidden gem is mostly undeveloped, making it an ideal destination for those seeking peace and solitude.
This was without any doubt, my favorite visited beach in Albania.
To get there, you have to drive until’ you reach the parking lot of the beach, the lady that works there is very helpful, you have to pay 300 LEK for the parking place. To reach the beach you have to walk 20 min, it’s a pretty difficult road, but it was all worth it.
Mona Belbied — Google review
It's a cool hideout specially in summer times I belive. I love the place, but the road or the hike to it is all messy and cracky. It's only a 3 KM round trip hike. Takes a 20 min down and 25 min up.
The trail full of Bunkers 😄, people were crazy building those bunkers, found 7 of them, how much did you found?
Yehia El Zeiny — Google review
Beautiful beach between cliffs! You have to walk 20 minutes aprox to get to the beach from the parking.
I read in many reviews the road was difficult, but I didn’t felt that way, it’s just full of stones. I made a picture of it for you to see.
Landscape was worthy!
I recommend!

Beautiful beach with a great natural surroundings but ruined by the people running the restaurants and bars (very rude and unfriendly), by the wild camping, by having the whole beach covered in sunbeds and umbrellas and litter and rubbish all over. I don't regret visiting it but I don't recomend it at all !
Jo?o Fernandes — Google review
I have to admit I had way more expectations given the reviews.
At the end, it is just another beach with pebbles.
You need to park and pay 300 lekes, 3 euros. Then walk 20 minutes.
There are 3 restaurants. We had lunch at the first one and we had to wait literally 1 hour for a salad, a fish and the worst chicken ever, completely dry.
Jaume Ávila Estivill — Google review
Beautiful secluded beach. Giving 4 stars because of the hike to get down there (which is why it's so secluded). Wear good shoes if you decide to make the trip. Also must pay to park as well. besides that, the water was crystal clear. There were food stands available if needed. Dogs roaming the beach to play with. Beach was a bit Shelly, so I'd recommend one you get there. Gorgeous views from the walk too.

In August 2021 I had a vacation in Albania. And we visited this beach. It is very beautiful place but the road is very difficult. ( Like all roads in Albania, in fact).
We rented a car and went from Vlora. Firs we overcame the mountain serpentine (about 2 hours), then we turned on a one-way trail and drived about 50 minutes to the parking. By the way, parking was paid. Then, we walked to the beach under hot sun about 40 minutes. And finally we were there. But there were a lot of people and all the umbrellas were occupied.
I think, better to go to the Gjipe beach in low season. Because in August there are traffic jam, very hot weather and a lot of tourists.

After the climb down its a nice little beach, no sand though as usual.. Would of liked to paddle board but not worth carrying it the 40 mins walk down..

One of the most beautiful beaches ever. You can reach it half by car and rest walking, or by boat 🚢 like us and enjoy the wonderful nature surrounded. Water seems you can drink it because is crystal clear.
Ermida Hasani — Google review
Very quiet on the month of early March! It's really cold and we couldn't go into the sea, however comfortable to chill with carpet at the place and enjoy the colors of nature. The hike is long and rocky, quite challenging to walk non-stop as it's one direction up/down hike. Water are very clear and it is as beautiful as you can see in the pictures.
Yan Ying Lim — Google review
It takes about 15-20 minutes walking to get to the beach but it is definitely worth the effort despite the scorching heat and sweat. On the way back, up the hill it is even more challenging but you won’t regret it as the beach is gorgeous. You can leave your car at the parking place which is chargeable 300 Lek. On the beach there are sun beds for rental and plenty of space to sit on your own blanket or a towel but make sure you have your own umbrella or tent to hide as there isn’t much shade nearby. A few beach bars to get refreshing drinks and crystal-clear water to cool down and have a swim. You may also take up the hiking trail into the canyon and explore the sight if you feel like. Gjipe Beach is one of the most incredible places in the coast of Albania and if you happen to drive by, make a stop and have a look around.

Best beach of all albania.
To reach it you have to walk for 30 minutes on a dirt street. Shoes are suggested.
You can observe the gjipe canion and at the same time gjipe beach. Just amasing.
Diego Masiero — Google review
The most beautiful beach we went to in Albania. You have plenty of parking but it costs 300LEK for the day. The road to the beach is like a 25m trek. Not that hard but just keep that in mind. The road to the parking is really badly designed one way road with a few side parking spots whenever a car comes for the opposite but curbs are really high so you cant just pull to the side with a normal car.
Zsolt Ferencz — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches near Himare. From the parking lot you have to walk 15 minutes! Wear good shoes. 1500 leek for umbrella and 2 cheapies which is fair price for a small hidden beach.
Tip: when arrive, go to the left side near the rocks, there are some hidden cave and spots with shadow (If you don’t want to pay for umbrella)
The place is also a camping spot, so very cosy vibes

Because the road is rocky, wear walking shoes instead of sliders. The parking fee was 200 lek for the entire day, which is about 1.60 euro. The beach and sand are both fantastic, so it is well worth a visit. On the beach, there are four bars. It takes about 20 minutes to walk there.

Super nice beach, but it is quite a hustle to get there. I would recommend going early morning, so you can secure a spot at the parking space. Also, when you drive from the main road to the parking place, there is just one lane, while it is two way traffic. We heard that the guys working at the parking place can be quite direct (or even aggressive), but after we paid for the parking place, they were quite friendly. From the parking place, it is a 30 minute walk to the beach itself. It is recommended to wear (decent) shoes and no flip flops.

Anazing beach!! One of my favourotes in Albania! We even went back for a second time at the end of our vacation.
Not a lot of people, great water and you can rent SUPs and Kayak for a fair price! The canyons in the background and the whole nature around is just wonderful.
The walk there from the parking spot (300Lek) is about 25 min and its a little rocky but managable!
Note: the second time we went there, there were more people because the main season for the camping started and they put a lot more umbrellas and chairs on the beach (which are quite expensive). And with more people there was also more trash.

30 minutes walk to the beach is really worth it 🥹😍. Low season, few people, great waves and super water temperature 🩵🫶🏻
Located between Himara and Saranda, the Castle of Porto Palermo, also known as the Castle of Ali Pasha, is a must-see stop on your journey. The fortress offers a glimpse into history with its dark corridors and eerie staircases leading to breathtaking sea views from the rooftop. The well-preserved fortress is maintained by a friendly caretaker who shares interesting details about its history.
Un unforgettable experience. We came there to see the beautiful landscape and the castle
We were all alone and we met Alexander, an historian teacher who explain us the history of Ali Pacha, the castle, Albanian situation,... What a wonderful man, full of kindness and intelligence. We will not forget you, many thanks 🙏✨️
You can't miss that!!!

The castle is near the main road SH85 and i dicided to stop and see it while driving from himare to sarande. From the beach it may take 3 to 5 mins to reach the castle. The man who takes care of it is nice. He asked where i from and told me he was in stuttgart messe to introduce the castles to the germans. The rooms are kept original without electric lights, so it is a little dark inside. There are notes near each entrance telling what room they are. The prinson room is very interesting but it must be very bad to stay inside without windows and lights. The panorama view plattform looks like a smaller version of dubrovnic in croacia. Through the small windows of the small towers i took some pictures which look like oil paintings.
In the future if there are more tourists they may try making a musuem out of it with some furnitures at the time and paintings on the wall to reproduce what it looked like before wenn it was in use. It may cost a lot though to do this and it may be a long process.

Entrance only costs 300 lek per person. It's worth visiting when you're nearby. The castle also has art inside.

You should not drive all the way to this castle for a visit. There is absolutely no information to be found inside the castle about its history. I gave it two stars for the view on the terrace, but this view can also be found on the roads surrounding the castle. You pay 300 lek to go inside.

Very interesting and atmospheric place, well-preserved fortress, totally recommend. Entrance fee - 300 lek, free parking available nearby.

Users of the mountain road to south or north should pay a visit to this venetian style castle. You can swim on your way up to the entrance

Ottoman-era castle built by Ali Pashe Tepelena for his wife. The castle stand on a little island surrounded by sea and wrapped around by the Bay of porto palermo. The Bay has a unique microclimate and flora. Stunning views from the terraces of the castle, which served as a military post during the communist regime.

Im not talking specifically about the catle. But about the private unpopulatet beaches near it. Theyre marvelous. If youre like me and you dont like crowded or you want the beach all to yourself with not many pople or umbrellas. Then its the perfect place. Grab your cooler a few drinks and snacks and enjoy the turquoise water and the rocky sand.

Stunning old fortress between sea and mountains! Huge walls of three meters wide. Worth to see it inside! There is a real well preserved old prison in the center of the castle without any window - in absolute darkness, a bit creepy)) And amazing panoramic viewpoint on the roof. Highly recommend to visit!

After exploring the castle another thing to explore is the variety of the tasty cocktails that we have. You can easily find us in Qeparo

Very great experience visiting the Castle. There is a little bit of a walk to get there but its worth seeing, especially on a cool day.

History and sea views all in one! The castle was absolutely stunning and the view from the rooftop breathtaking. The history of the place made it all more beautiful because we felt like we were reliving the life of ali pasha, his wife and all the other people who were in the castle. The doorman was really nice and gave us a few more detail on the history which made it more special. Highly recommended because even if you're someone not into history the view is worth it.

Ali Pasha Tepelena Fortress, Porto Palermo, Albania
Mareblue Beach Resort is a luxurious all-inclusive hotel that boasts three outdoor pools, two bars, and three restaurants. The resort offers private access to a pristine beach located within a five-minute walk. The rooms are clean and comfortable with delectable food options included in the package deal. Nightly entertainment adds to the overall experience of staying at this resort. The staff provides exceptional service making the stay enjoyable for families with children as well as couples seeking relaxation.
Overall we had a great time at Mareblue. The gardens and landscaping and position next to the sea is absolutely beautiful. The room was clean and modern, and the bed was very comfortable. The range of dishes available was very good overall, though the main dining hall is absolutely manic and not particularly relaxing. A few niggly points which don’t detract from my overall rating:
1. Music is played all day by the main pool. While it was varied and catered to different tastes, pumping out dance music while everyone on the sun beds are relaxed, reading and sleeping wasn’t very welcome!
2. When the sun was particularly ferocious, there weren’t enough parasols to keep us in shade. Rather than the typical clambering for sun beds which you see elsewhere, people were clambering for shade.
3. Some of the staff in the pool bar were rude at times and demonstrated a masculine ‘pack mentality’. A couple of them were leering over young women in their swimwear and I saw this make a couple of young women feel uncomfortable.
4. Fresh juices at breakfast would have been welcome.
5. The hotel could expand its excursions offers. It facilitates shuttle services to key locations but we had to go elsewhere to find a boat cruise.

Overall a nice good quality 3 star hotel, clean rooms but on the small side,no lifts but then only 2 to 3 story buildings so then wheelchair access only on ground. I must say it's a fair walk up a gradient incline with steps to the bottom pool so don't know how older guests would feel about this walking from reception area.food choice great not a very large dining area. I wouldn't stay here at peak seasons say June to September as it would be hammered with guests. We stayed for a week end of April so not too bad.
Craig Hughes — Google review
Been to this resort twice now, once in 2017 and got back yesterday. I thought I would separate this review into good things and improvements/things to think about:
Positives:
- Staff; they are all so lovely and welcoming, at no point did I think it was a chore for them, all being very passionate about their work. The animation team are particularly great.
- there is always something to be doing. Whether it’s volley ball, football, eating, chilling, swimming etc. this resort has lots to offer.
- the two ‘special’ evening meals at the pizzeria and Olive restaurant. They’re really nice to break up a week of eating at the dinner buffet, and the food on those evenings is exceptional.
- the scenery, it really it’s beautiful looking over the mountains of Albania
Things to think about:
- quality of the drinks. There is a good all inclusive drinks selection, however the quality of their alcoholic drinks could be improved. I understand that quantity management is a big thing, however they use 200ml plastic cups for their drinks, which did start to become annoying.
- remoteness. The resort feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, and takes quite a while to get to from the airport. However, I must say that if you book excursions they always include pick ups and drops off.
Pictures show the sunset at the main pool, the calzone from the pizzeria and just a quick snap of some of the evening entertainment.

Views were stunning. Especcially Albanian mountains. Food and room really good. It is a good 4 star hotel. I would recommend to use paper instead of plastic cups. We stayed there a week and really enjoyed our stay.

I honestly don’t know how anyone can complain or write a bad review about this hotel, for the price you pay it is AMAZING. We came with 2 kids and another couple with a child so that could get stressful but honestly the staff and the resort itself just made it so easy and enjoyable. The rooms are nice and clean, the all inclusive food was delicious, the pools are great, the evening entertainment was fun, the little beach within 5 mins walking distance is fantastic and ALL the staff are absolutely amazing. I couldn’t recommend this place enough

Very hardworking and friendly staffs, unlimited food, drink.
Bar staffs, Angel, Maria all very cooperative and helpful.

100% recommendable. Beach nearby is so clean and safe for children.

We chose this hotel as part of a deal online so didn't specifically seek it out.
The staff were very friendly throughout and helpful whenever we needed them. Everyone spoke excellent English.
We arrived in the early hours of the morning and were a little disappointed by our room, which felt very basic, and had ants. After a night's sleep however we asked about an upgrade which they happily provided, improving our stay!
Generally the resort is clearly aimed towards families, and we found it very busy despite only being at about 50% capacity. There was always some sort of noise around, and we were often woken up during the night by guests or early (considering we were on holiday) in the morning by cleaning staff.
While our room was perfectly comfortable, our stay wasn't very relaxing overall, given the noise and busyness. The resort felt well-maintained and clean, and was quite pretty when the sun was out!
Food was mediocre, which was to be expected given it's at scale I suppose. There was always plenty of it though so you wouldn't risk missing out! And there's also not many times of day when some sort of all-inclusive food isn't available.
The location of the hotel is semi-remote so I'd strongly advise a car, unless you intend to spend most of the time at the resort. The beaches directly behind the resort weren't very nice and you'll find much nicer in the nearby town of Kassiopi or venturing further along the coast. We did everything we wanted to in our holiday without going further than an hour from the hotel.

Went on 4 July to 18 July 2023. Fantastic holiday. Great views. Food was amazing. Animation team were fantastic, so enthusiastic and full of energy. My seven year old grand daughter loved the kids club. Would highly recommend this hotel. 👌

Returned yesterday from Mareblue. We stayed for 3 nights and would love to stay longer than that.
Absolutely fantastic holiday. Amazing varieties of meal at the buffets, which were all delicious.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Giannis (maintenance) and Giorgio’s (concierge) for helping us around. We had a small issue with our bedroom the first night, but the reception team worked hard to sort it out. The rooms are lovely and clean, but bathrooms could do with update.
I would say that this hotel and its location is mainly for families with children as there are no many shops, restaurants or bars around. We preferred it that way anyways. There are two beaches near by, but we preferred the one by the Taverna which has fantastic beach for families. Each themed night was really good.
The view is stunning. As a side note, get lots and lots of mosquito repellent.
Stanislava Visolajska — Google review
The receptionists were very helpful.
While the rooms are very dated they are kept very clean. You may need to chase up reception for milk sachets or water for your room as this wasn't replenished daily for us.
The view from hotel to the sea is amazing.
Dining staff are very welcoming.
Breakfast is good and lunch from pool bar is okay, dinner is a low point, there's plenty of choice, however where they have a great range of salads, the meat isn't great at all. I avoided it during my stay.
Entertainment.. it's something to pass time in to the evening, it's varied and will have something during the week for everyone.
There was plenty of games on offer, darts, water polo, bingo and ping pong to name a few.
The grounds are kept perfect. There is a mini market on site and Lola's mini market down the road from the entrance of the resort and a shop, Hellas restaurant and the pyramid bar if you leave the resort from the back road.. that would be all that's within walking distance.
Note on the all inclusive: great for kids for ice cream and soft drinks, however the alcohol is poor and as someone who wouldn't drink often, I never felt like I'd had a drink no matter how many I had during the day, so possibly overly watered down?..
You get dinner in the Italian and Mediterranean restaurant once during your stay. The quality of the 'Olives' Mediterranean restaurant was superb.

Not exactly 4*. There's only toilet paper and towels in the bathroom 😂 Not even a brush. There was an apple in the fridge and a small bottle of water waiting for us after arriving at 10 o clock at the all inclusive hotel. They serve everything in small plastic cups. Lots of drunken British tourists and a lot of hassle and bustle. The a la carte restaurant was fully booked but the buffet was VERY VERY GOOD (but almost the same everyday).
Tasos Vacalopoulos — Google review
The hotel is located just to the sea. 5min walking distance from a beach. The double rooms are decent, the beds are not to bad either. Good water pressure. The rooms are cleaned daily but not very good. The food is ok, some days better then the other. With the all inclusive you can't get room service. Don't expect much from the gym as it is very basic. All inclusive cocktail are free but the options should be updated. Renting service for cars is on the steep side. The gave us two single beds but when we mentioned this they were kind enoug to provided us with a topping for two and later changed our room to a single room with a big bed. Try not getting a room to close to the entertainment area as the music is very loud if you want a early night.

We have just returned from a weeks' break at this hotel and it was absolutely wonderful, the staff, the hotel, the food, everything. My wife has limited mobility so we had a downstairs beachfront room which was perfect. The bed was so comfy too and the room was spotless. Fifi, who was wonderful each day by the pool and in the evenings around the bar kept everyone entertained. We loved it so much we booked it again for my 60th in August this year. Make sure you go to the little Tavernas down on the beach, well worth a look if you feel like a stroll out for a drink or a meal if you fancied a change one night but the food at the hotel is brilliant. The wonderful staff make this hotel and as for the resident dog, she is just amazing wondering around the site, this made out holiday.

Super place to stay. A but out the way fir a few people ideal if you want a nice break away from the crowds.
Well presented place. Good mixture of food and drink.
Some nice secluded beaches with in walking distance.
I’ve given a 4 on the room because it was a little dated compared to other, they are in the process of refurbishing all the rooms I believe.
Plenty of pool space chairs and umbrellas.
Bars do shut at 11 for inclusive if you want drinks after that there is a bar open until 1am (not expensive) I liked this as then you haven’t got groups being noisy and drinking into the early hours.
There are a couple of local restaurants and shops with in walking distance.
And yes it rained, I enjoy a bit of rain on holiday. 😄

Lovely Beach Resort for Families & older couples, wouldn't recommend for young people as not much to do. If u want a quiet relaxing holiday then this is a good place for that. The room we were given was a double instead of a twin and very dated, we asked for a change of room and were given a family room over looking the adults pool. You could not swing a cat in it never mind 2 adults and 2 children. A bunk bed and 2 twin beds, only 2 wall plugs and not a lot of storage room. We accepted it as we were tired after arriving but not really suitable for 2 people let a lone a family. Very noisy in the evening as close to the evening entertainment area but u get used to it.
Can't fault the food and the cleanliness of the whole area, staff work very hard and are lovely, my other criticism is that the rooms showed on the website do not reflect on the rooms you are given unless you stay in a suite, which is something that needs addressing.
Make sure u take water bottle with u and a insulated cup to keep your drinks cool as they only give u small plastic cups which are rubbish. No premium drinks in the all inclusive and u have to pay for drinks after 11.30pm. Dissapointed with the drinks selection as no nice cocktails, beer good but wine awful nut that just my personal opinion.
Overall nice resort just over an hours transfer lovely sea views and great food, you will not go hungry. Weather fantastic, great all day boat trip highlight of the holiday. Evening entertainment in both the lobby and pool bar but will book something a bit more central next time.

My opinion is I honestly would not bother!!! Spent 4 hours the first day arguing with reception after being given a dirty room. They did sort it...the next morning after I begged for a refund but expect 3 adults to share a box room with 1 bed being a sofa. New room dont think the floor has EVER been mopped so black feet is the norm. Staff here have awful attitudes. Not enough staff long ques at bars and food places. Both a la cartes fully booked cannot even get a space. The que on evening for all inclusive is ridiculous to even get into dinner. Theres nothing in the area. Good luck getting a sun bed or even a drink! Would not come back even if it was free!! Breakfast is served freezing cold. Truly is awful and in no way 4 star. We have come first week of the season would expect much better service!

We really enjoyed our stay here, the weather was hit and miss but it didn’t ruin our time here. Was eaten alive by mosquitoes but again, didn’t ruin our trip. Staff are all friendly and welcoming, can’t do enough for you. Bit secluded but we were after a relaxing holiday, which is what we got. Would return.

Great hotel resort in a beautiful location. Facilities are good, including swimming pools, beach, and spa. We stayed all inclusive for 5 nights and generally enjoyed the food and drinks on offer. The room was decent, although a little old fashioned, and room service was adequate. Reception staff provided exemplary customer service throughout. Hotel also arranged several half-day trips through a shuttle service, which was great!

Mareblue is such a lovely resort, I've had the most amazing time both there and around Corfu.
The staff are wonderful, very kind and considerate and patient.
The food was absolutely fantastic, every single time we ate. Lots of choice, and I mean LOTS. Vegan and vegetarian seemed well covered too. Drinks never ending, how the staff do it I don't know, there all day and night, always pleasant and with a smile.
I felt very comfortable here, secure. It's a really well laid out resort, with plenty to do if you stay on site, but easy to book a trip out via the reception.
Good clean facilities, the rooms are kept clean too, literally the only minus on the rooms are lock of plug sockets 😂 but of course you're on holiday, so you'll cope :)
I love this place and actually, I hope to return one day.

The Kanali tou Erota beach is picturesque and secluded between rock formations. It's a great place to relax with a book or take a sun bath. There are several coves and canals nearby that make it an interesting destination for swimming.
I loved the sunset here,we went there 2 days. The best time is in the evening, I loved to swim trough the canal d’amour, and there’s also a love legend. Not to mention how romantic is this place.
Himeshi costa — Google review
Such a stunning place to visit. The view is beautiful, and the water shallow and clear. You can actually swim in the canal, which is like a cave (you can’t see it in the photos, you need to swim there).
The myth about the canal is cute and interesting. Such a romantic destination!
Local Guide — Google review
Very small little bay about 10 metres wide fenced in by 2 outcrops of beige stone. The Canal D'amour has a local legend. If you swim out through it with your loved one, you stay together forever, or if you swim it single, you meet the love of your life within a year. Nice legend reality is not so good bars built almost on top of it and way too many people and loud music
Picturesque if you look out towards sea not so looking back in land from the water

There is a car park here. A large area of layered rocks with footpaths and walkways on it. A few beaches inside but the majority of it is an inlet of fast waves which splash up the walls. There is an area to get from one side to the other which I imagine would be very slippery.
It’s a very scenic place and an interesting destination if you were to visit the north of the island

An amazing spot to spend some time. The canal is very beautiful looking and surrounded by rocks that offer a breathtaking view over the Ionian Sea and Albania. Don’t hesitate to jump in the water as the waves give it a pleasant experience. There are many great restaurant nearby that offer lunch with a great view. All in all it is a great experience that is worth the drive from Corfu town.

The place is beautiful, you have all the conditions for a nice vacation. In this location there is also a small cave, you will surely be impressed by this location. Next to the beach you have a coffee bar where you can have the tastiest drinks.

The road to the beach is muddy so be careful, I’d recommend wearing shoes. I don’t think there’s an actual beach bar so be well prepared to bring umbrellas and towels. It’s way too overcrowded, you can walk and sit on the rocks but be careful. It’s a unique beach and it’s worth visiting. The day we went there the water looked a bit dirty cause it was windy. It also has a cave and it’s really nice for jumping into the water.

Beautifully Corfu landmark and a must go if doing a road trip! You can walk around and swim. We went in April and there was some people but mostly empty… I can imagine that in summer it gets crazy so try to go very early to see the beauty of it.
Angella Vecchione — Google review
Only worth one star ⭐ due to the potential. This place could be a lot better but the beach is really more like a mud pen and the waters are cloudy, probably due to sediment cliffs crumbling into the sea. On the journey to the beach you are greeted with an apocalyptic looking hotel with a smashed glass window barrier which is dangerous to anyone with wandering kids. Check the photos. Overall, disappointing, try one of the many other much nicer beaches like Porto timoni.
Sidari Beach is a picturesque and bustling beach with free and rental sunbeds that features waterfront restaurants and recreation. The beach is perfect for sunset watching, as it is only a short walk away from D Amour Beach.
Beautiful small beaches, we went just before the season started so most shop were shut but still plenty to see and do. Water sports place was open so we hired a boat for 2 hours. Great fun

If there wasn't for the "Canal D'Amour" I would evaluate the beach a lot less than 5*, but that natural beauty deserves it and it is worth seeing it.
The beach is big but common one, with a slow entrance in water with sand.
For me not the best since there were a lot of kids and not a spectacular water to be able to do snorkeling.
Raluca Andreea — Google review
A beautiful beach, sunbeds here cost 15 euros, but if you have a drink and fit within 15 euros, you don't pay for drinks. They have it well thought out. Otherwise, the beach is beautiful, big, the sea a bit cloudy, but for me a beautiful place.

Love this beach the water is so warm shallow and safe for young children (supervised) if you swim (snorkel) along the cliff side on the left towards deeper water we saw numerous fish and even two different shoals of fish of different sizes
Linn Watson — Google review
It's ok, not the best beach on the island and Sidari is not the most upmarket town. It does however have a few interesting rock formations, caves and coves.
Steve Bonnage — Google review
I wasn't expecting much compared to Canal d'Amour, but I was surprised. Sidari Beach is a scenic, sandy beach with great views over the Ioanian. Further up the beach, you can see the rock formations that make up the D'Amour beach. It does get busy since it's closer to the main strip, though it's quite a large beach, so you shouldn't struggle for a space. A little run down in certain parts (some litter and exposed wiring near a building), but it didn't ruin the experience. The sea is actually quite warm at this beach! Plenty of bars/restaurants back onto the beach.

My favorite beach in Corfu from the ones that we have visited, of course.
If you are there, try Greek Village, they have free sunbeds, good cocktails and amazing food, also the stuff is very friendly.

+Nice big sandy beach. Free sunbeds while using the bars for drinks and food.
+Nice clean water, suitable for small kids.
+Big free parking at 3 min from the beach.
+Recomand the chinese back massage (Lisa has magic hands)
-They could clean a bit more the sandy beach.
Monica Loredana Bora — Google review
A large sandy beach with plenty of bars and restaurants backing onto it. There is a jetty with benches on however when I was there today the sea was rough and waves came over and covered the benches.
The serene beach of Agios Stefanos in the northwest corner of Corfu is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing. The powdery sand and crystal-clear waters make it a popular spot with tourists and locals alike. There are plenty of recreational options nearby including rental sunbeds, waterfront bars, and swimming.
The beach is long and quite big. Water is very shallow for quite a distance, making it great for children. There is a shower, bar restaurants, everything you need. What I did not like too much was the sand. On a Sandy beach 1 day earlier the sand was much more better than here. Other than that good beach for Children.

Much better than nearby beaches, including the overrated and overcrowded Canal D'Amour and Paleokastritsa. Much wider, longer, with fine sand and spectacular cliffs.
The shallow water stretches for very long, so not really a good place for snorkeling.

- they should clean a bit the beach between the sunbeds and the water.

Very nice beach, but very shallow so a very non clear water due to turbulent sand. Perfect for kids. Unfortunately a lot of sea weed on the beach itself
Lukáš Aron — Google review
Plenty of sunbeds to hire at various cafe/bars.
The beach had quite a lot of old dead seaweed while I was there (May 2023) & I'm not sure if it's cleaned away for the main peek months. Very good beach for the kids 👍
David Brown — Google review
Once you get past the ridiculous quantity of seaweed the water is crystal clear and beautiful.
Lovely sandy beach. Beware, no facilities on the beach unless you go to one of the beach clubs, hotels or the restaurant. I can't remember the restaurant's name but it was fairly reasonably priced. €20 for 5 drinks. Then 2 iced coffees for €7 so can't complain.

One of the best beaches on Corfu, sandy and shallow water. Could be cleaner though, the beach is not maintain and has patches of seaweed.

Amazing beach. Fine white sand, turquoise water and surrounded by cliffs. Great sunsets.
Very shallow water - great for kids of all ages.
Several beachbars and two shops for renting boats or other water fun.
Atmosphere is generally relaxed and friendly.

Beautiful sandy beach. Far right is naturist part and much quieter with beautiful rugged cliffs. You can get the clay and do a beauty treatment letting it dry in sun then rinse off in water. Shallow sandy clear sea. We missed the sunset but enjoyed good food and free parking at Havana’s bar.

Lovely pebble beach. Popular with both sailing and day boats. Dramatic sheer cliff backdrop. However, jelly fish in evidence to right end of beach.

Nice little beach reachable only by boat. Essentials if you want to enjoy your day are: enough drinking water, snacks, sun lotion, beach umbrella and eventually water shoes. Visit nearby Calypso's Cave:)
MOIRA P — Google review
The beach of Calipso Bay is made of white small rocks, round and beautiful, and the water is of wonderful shades of light blue and green. Quiet, there is only nature all around and you can reach it only by boat, because behind there is a mountain. Also known as Kalipso Bay, it's a must seen! Lovely, special, romantic!!! ❤️❤️❤️🧜🏻♀️ Perfect for a Mermaid shooting! 😉

Impressive sandy beach accessible only with boat (it can be arranged from the Othonoi port). Clear and crystal waters, white sand a peaceful and quiet beach. Food, water or refreshments (or umbrellas) should be transferred with the boat as the beach is an isolated one.

One of the best beaches I’ve ever been!

Transparent blue, aquarium like waters. White cliffs. Definitely a place to visit.
The beautiful Porto Timoni beach is a must-visit for anyone vacationing on the island of Corfu. It is very adventurous to get there, but the views are well worth it. The beach is accessed by a rocky path or boat, and has clear waters perfect for snorkelling.
The most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen! It’s a little bit of a climb down, so make sure you have solid knees and shoes as it can be tricky at times. And also bear in mind you have to climb back up which is can be quite intense. However it is super worth it! The bay on both sides or beautifully blue, clear and perfect for swimming. The scenery and the views when you come down are breathtaking and could have stayed there all week.

I really enjoyed this beach. It is very interesting as it is split in 2 different bays. On the left side the water is very clear and calm, but colder, while on the right side is much warmer, but with more waves. It is great for snorkeling. One can get here on foot by climbing down a 20 minute trail. It's only recommended for fit people especially in the summer heat. Taxi boats can also get you here. Parking is expensive in the village, between 3 and 8 euro.

The walk there and back is not so easy. Sunny. No shade. Full of people - "traffic jams" and the beaches are gorgeous but crowded from 12 o'clock approximately. Be careful with parking fees. Try to park for free or take a boat from the main beach.

A truly unique place, beautiful landscape! The brach can be reached on foot, or by boat that departs from the beach Ag. Georgios. Although the path on foot is quite challenging, it is definitely worth the effort because you can enjoy a wonderful view of the bay, unreal blue colors. The beach on both sides is quite small, the water is quite cold, but crystal clear, there is not much shade, so if you plan to stay longer, be well equipped.

A great place, one of the most beautiful beaches in Corfu. It is a bit hard to reach, but it is deffinitelly worth it. The path is rocky at places, so wear comfortable shoes. The views from the path are breathtaking. We visited early in the morning, so the beach wasn`t crowded. Around noon more people arrived.
The water is crystal clear and great for swimming. The beach on the left side is a bit smaller and the water is calmer and warmer. The right side beach is bigger and more open so there were some small waves.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Corfu.
You definitely need shoes to walk down the path to the beach. Don’t go with flip flops.
The path is rocky at places. It will take you 20-25 minutes to reach and 30 minutes to get back. The views from some spots of the path are breathtaking. If you go early in the morning the beach isn’t crowded but later in the day gets crowded.
The one side of the beach is bigger than the other and you can choose in which one to stay according to the wind.
The water is crystal clear and great for swimming.
I bet that in July or August it will be extremely crowded

DON'T WEAR FLIP FLOPS GOING DOWN
If you bring something down, bring it up. Don't leave waste.
Just making life difficult and dangerous for yourself. It's rocky and it some places slippy. Wear a decent pair of runners/trainers/sneakers at least that have some grip. It's 120m descent/ascent
Parking at the top is €5 and street parking is illegal except in one place but you're only getting that at 8am.
It gets busy.
There are no toilets or facilities down there. So if you need a number two don't do it on the path like some miscreant did.
It's a beautiful beach with beautiful water.

Photogenic beach BUT... Don't recommend arriving on the weekend, parking is a nightmare I'd tiu don't want to spend €10 for it, beach is overly crowded, sitting spots are mainly rocky and painful pebbles, taxi boat makes it annoying to swim or sit peacefully and relax. But taxi boat can also get you out of there for nicer beaches and shuttle you back to the parking lot. Even the viewpoint along the hike had a line to take photos! It's about 20-30 min to get to the beach and the trail is gravel down the hill. Do yourself a favor, keep the flip flops for the beach and wear hiking shoes. The beach is not clean, full of rubbish on the weekend and quite disappointing this way. Overall, not on the weekend, this place can be magical

Bliss. This pair of beaches is only reachable after a 20 minute, semi-challenging hike down a maintained, rocky path - decent shoes are recommended. This, in my opinion, only adds to the experience, acting as a precursor to what will be a total immersion of nature before you reach the isolated waterfronts.
There is also the option of further hiking to a third, quieter beach (less than 10 minutes onwards), and a small monastery nestled within the woods higher up (about 15 minutes onwards).
Definitely worth it for crystal clear waters and the entertaining trek.

Definitely worth the walk down. Make sire you wear good shows though as it can be steep and slippery if it has rained. A must do in Corfu
Nik Armenis — Google review
Quite the trek to get to the beach so make sure you are wearing comfy shoes or good flip flops!! The left side beach was packed as the sea was much calmer when we went around 3pm and water colder compared to the right side beach which had waves and was much warmer. There are no shops nearby so make sure you have everything you need with you. Both beaches were ok. There were some taxi boats available (not sure from where or where they were going and how much it was). Amazing views!!

Paradise 5/5. Top place/beaches in Corfu. Just positive vibes. The journey from the parking lot about 20-30 minutes, depending on condition. You need to take more water.

We went to this beach today with a car. We parked our car at the parking lot at Afionas for 5€. The Google maps navigation was showing us the way through the town to get closer for the beach, but the streets are so narrow there, so our rented Opel Corsa would not squeeze there without getting a few scratches. If you come by scooter, maybe you can reach closer and park it somewhere else.
From the parking lot to the beach there’s a hiking trail. The workers at the parking lot told us today that the beach is closed because of the fire hazard, but in reality you can still go there to swim. There’s just a rad tape with a sign in the beginning of the hiking trail telling you not to go down. Many people were going though, us included. At your our risk, of course.
To go down to the beach it’s better to wear hiking shoes or at least sports shoes. We saw many people walking with flip flops, but it’s quite dangerous. The trail has so many rocks and some parts consist only of rocks (see the photo).
On the way there’s a nice scenery. You can take photos on the way. You can see the different beaches and boats in the sea. There’s also a spot to take a photo from the top where you can see the two separated beaches.
The water in the beach on the left side is colder. Everywhere the water is very clean and transparent. Bring snorkeling mask or at least diving glasses to watch the fishes. Near the corals there are many fishes. On the right side there’s also a beach with not so cold water, but with more waves. It’s very enjoyable to swim there.
The downside is that there’s no litter box to throw garbage and the beaches get dirty. There are so many plastic bottles, bags, cups and wrappers lying around. One group of Italian tourists we’re eating sandwiches directly in the sea and threw the rest in the water, which was disgusting to watch. Also, some people smoke at the beach and leave cigarette butts in the sand.
All in all, good experience there, time passed very quickly and we had a great time. Totally recommend!

Beautiful views but the beach isn't stunning in any degree. For a walk with nice views it's excellent. Keep in mind that the trail to the beach is basically from small or big rocks so it can be hard to walk down there.

Beautiful beach in a secluded location. Definitely wear sneakers for the walk down - very rocky and uneven in places. Earlier you arrive the better as this beach is very very busy. Lots of people coming and going which makes it less tranquil, and hard to find space in the pebbly beach, but worth it for the views. There were lots of wasps around when we tried to eat our sandwiches, so eat quickly! Possible to boat in and out if you prefer

This is a must-visit unreal piece of heaven. It is no acceptable to visit Corfu and skip this spot.
We parked the car at Afionas Parking (5 EUR for the day). Then we went walking through the little town. First, we reached the Viewpoint from top of Porti Timoni, we took some pictures then we decided to go all the way down to the Porto Timoni beach. It is a tough sport and not a short distance, but it is absolutely worth it. It takes approx. 25 minutes to reach the beach.
make sure not to miss the chance to swim. The water is fantastic. Grap a bottle of water with you, no drinking water available there.

Nice and beautiful beach with perfect spot for snorkelling 🤿.
Today there were very few people.
Park your car for €5 and then hike down the hill for 30-40 minutes.
Hiking shoes recommended but we saw many people hiking in flip flops 🩴.
No recommended though.
Nice free shades too under the trees.
Both the beaches are nice one is a bit wavy than the other.
Underwater photography recommended.
Enjoy.

When walking down to the beaches the views are spectacular and breath-taking! The photo opportunities are great. The village you walk through is also beautiful. Just be aware that it is a long, rocky hike down to them! As we went in peak season the small beaches were also very busy. Would be much better (and less hot) to go out of peak season. Make sure you take food and drink with you! We enjoyed our half day visit anyway.

The beaches are simply stunning and it has some of the clearer water I've seen so far.
To get there you can either hike down from Afionas town (steep hike through a rocky and uneven trail) about 20-30 minutes. Or you can get a water taxi from Agios beach for 15€ round trip.
Note that this is a very busy location with lots of people on the beach and on the trail so if that's something you're not comfortable with then better visit in the off season.
If you don't mind it, then you'll have a great time and enjoy a truly magical place.
