Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Bomunsa, a revered Buddhist sanctuary constructed in 635, stands atop an elevated site. Notable features include a fabled grinding stone and a cave temple that provides breathtaking views of the sea. The tranquil ambiance exuded by the temple, combined with its historical significance, adds to its allure. The panorama of the ocean or mudflats from this vantage point is particularly captivating during sunset hours.
went there via tour group. it was hard work walking up to the temple! really test your physical conditions to climb the hill.
to reach to the top, you will need to climb 420ish steps with no hand rail. the monks where there chanting. many elders managed to do so to pray.
as the location is in a hill and next to water, they delicated the sea temple for the god there.
Eileen Teo (ET Speaks From Home) — Google review
A great sea view(or mudflats) specially for the sunset. The trees and temple makes the view more beautiful.

What a wonderfully spiritual and historical place. The atmosphere is stunning. I go every so often to sit and meditate. I can't explain in words the effect that place has on me. FITNESS LEVEL REQUIRED: to get to the temple you must walk up a steep incline. Also, if you plan on seeing the statue in the mountain be prepared to walk up many more steps.

Jeondeungsa Temple is a serene and colorful Buddhist compound featuring intricate carvings and old-growth trees. Although some pathwalks are under renovation, visitors can still explore the beautiful temple for a cheap entrance fee of 3000 with discounts available for children, elderly, and groups. It is recommended to wear hiking shoes as the hike up to the temple can be steep for newcomers. Inside and outside the gates there are souvenir shops and a wishing well fed by free flowing spring water.
Beautiful temple and surroundings! It can get really crowded on the weekend. I did a 2-day/1-night templestay and it was a unique experience. The program was well organized, the temple staff really informative and attentive, the food at the restaurant delicious and the facilities clean and well maintained. Warmly recommended!

Very peaceful. So beautiful with snow.

Since I went to this temple during the winter, I feel Bomunsa looks more appealing. But with greens or colored leaves and flowers it might be better in season.
This quiet temple offers the temple stay program in reasonable price.
It might prify your dizzy mind while staying in such a beautiful temple.
K H — Google review
You'll stop here on your way around the trail. Good place to rest and take photos.
Mike Ashley — Google review
Currently there are some pathwalks being renovated but this doesn't hinder our time exploring the old temple. Very beautiful view, cheap entrance 3000₩, with discount for kids and elderly and groups... wear hiking shoes, I don't recommend slippers, steep hike for newbies. Lots of souvenir shops outside the gates and some inside the temple. There's free flowing spring water going to a wishing well. Bus 3000 is more accessible, bus 2000 they say comes every 1hrs going back to Seoul. I recommend you use naver maps for better transpo access. Best time to visit during celebration of Buddha's bday on May, spring, then on fall, and winter, summer.

One of the best place to explore culture of South Korea and enjoy the beauty of the nature
If anyone planning to visit the temple I recommend to go on the hiking trails
It gives most chilling scenic view of the place
I am loving it
Good place to hike and also experience the Buddhism to its best
A place to have peace in mind
You can also stay at the temple to have better experience

If you have a child who is interested in space or rockets, the Oktokki Space Center is a must-visit destination. However, even if you don't have children, this family-friendly place offers safe and enjoyable experiences. In addition to a small water park with slides and a 3D movie theater (although it's quite small and the movies are short), there are also aerospace exhibitions with interactive items for kids, a Dinosaur garden, and even sledding activities.
The facilities are bit old but clean and well maintained. The entrance fee is somewhat high but it includes all, aerospace exhibitions (there are some experience items for kids), Dinosaur garden, sledding..
Good to visit with kids.

You can see dolmens in front of the museum, which are well preserved. The museum is very interesting since you can learn a lot from the island as well as part of Korea's history. It is very interactive and visually catchy, also explaining part of the folklore. There's also information in English. In the weekends, there's a tourist bus that takes you to different places in the island: there's one stop in front of the museum but I don't know about the fee.

The Ganghwa Peace Observatory is a complex located on the North Korean border that offers a unique opportunity to observe daily life in North Korea through binoculars for a fee of 500 won. The area is heavily guarded by active military sentries and has a checkpoint on the way. A historical and informative observation building with displays in Korean and English can be found, along with a small shop and restaurants inside.
An observatory at one of the highest place in Korea from where you can also see North Korea~
It was a great experience to watch the North Korean village and the sentiments of all of those who visited and left their thoughts on the big wall.
Mamta Tiwari — Google review
Tranquil place to view North Korea border. Also to learn the brief story of North and South Korea . Getting to know how North Korea people live in poverty is quite astonishing.
Junior Hsu — Google review
A very interesting place. It kind of is odd to just peer over into North Korea. The area has binoculars (500 won to view) and you can see people across doing their daily things. You'll also notice a lot of active military sentries near. There is also a checkpoint on the way to the area.
The observation building is very nice, with lots of historical notes and facts (mostly in Korean with the titles being in English for a lot of displays. There is a small shop and some restaurants inside.
The building itself is an actual military building so it is not all accessible.
The way to the building is also fairly steep so keep that in mind.
Parking is free entry is 2500 won.
Worth going to for sure.

It was very saddening listening to the stories of the families that had been separated. The telescopes to look over to North Korea are very also reasonably cheap.

Went via a tour. Had to climb slope road. The whole exhibition is described in korean language. hence i dont understand any single things. have to use google translation to read. the whole place is okay. the telescope is about 500w each time.
it was so hot and they sell ice water (still frozen with a bit of water). it was so great!!! they do offer free room temperature water. toilet is clean. didnt spend long there as we in tour and had to rush.
Eileen Teo (ET Speaks From Home) — Google review
A truly unique place. Looking across the water from South to North Korea is surreal. The “settlements” seen along the northern shores are fake, no inhabitants. Razor-wire fencing all around this area on south side. Guards check permits. Some have tried swimming across and never got very far.
Matthew Davis 戴維斯馬修 — Google review
Nicely done with a good view. North Korea across the river. Good video.
Cynthia P — Google review
Nice and interesting spot definitely off the beaten path. We had to go through military security checkpoints to get there, so it definitely is an authentic NK viewing experience! Make sure you bring ₩1,000 bills/₩500 coins for the binoculars on the observation decks. A few things have English translations, but not everything. For non-Korean speakers, this will still be an interesting place, but you'll need to rely pretty heavily on translation apps.

Love this place! My wife and I came here after our engagement party as we loved every bit of it!! And it was one of the first places we brought our firstborn to when we visited Korea~ Our son, who's about 21 months old had a hard time paying attention to the animals, but there's so much to see, and lots of fun ways to engage with the animals here! LOVE this aquarium. They have many types of fish ranging from jellyfish to even luohan and arowana. They also have a farm section on the rooftop where you can feed and pet the sheep and goats. There were many vending machines for snacks (including for the animals) but they only accept card not cash. It was a very fun experience as they also have a zoo type section with many different animals. Such as sloth, lemur, crocodile etc. The gift shop is decent but doesn't have any souvenirs based on the animals featured in aquaplanet ilsan itself. Regardless, a great place to visit and easy to navigate even for families with young children and stroller/wheelchair as there are elevators along with stairs.
dentedwing 1919 — Google review
A medium-sized aquarium with a good assortment of marine life. It's well laid out and there's enough space to move around even if it's crowded. There's also a jungle exhibit and a small petting/feeding. They have synchronized swimming events every hour which are fun to watch. The tickets are expensive and so is everything inside so buy discounted tickets online and bring your own food/drinks for the kids.

So many great memories related to stay in Korea.. and One Mount is one of them...Great great customer support..welcoming staff everywhere..and great discounts for Foreign visitors..And i can say all after this my stay in US...where there is no discounts offered anywhere in such type of parks of wonderlands for Foreign visitors..so definitely it values alot!! Helmets, live jackets are provided, whatever color! It must be worn before entering the water for safety. Ilsan Lake Park is a serene lakefront escape offering a variety of attractions such as walking paths, playgrounds, sculptures, and even a small zoo. Situated along the Hangang River in Seoul, this park is a favorite weekend spot for locals and tourists alike. With over 1,800 cherry blossom trees and an array of other flora like forsythia shrubs and weeping willows, the park transforms into a fairy tale-like setting during spring.
Good place to go for a walk in Ilsan. It is also famous for cherryblossom during the spring so if you live in Ilsan, we highly recommend you to come visit here with your friends or family.

Besides the pretty hydrangeas, there are many other photo spots as well. If you plan to go here, better arrive before 12pm, otherwise, you're gonna find line of cars waiting to enter the parking lot. Dorasan Station is situated at the northernmost point of South Korea's railway line, and it is hoped that one day it will connect North and South Korea when peace prevails. Although visitors can combine tours to create a full day experience, JSA tour was no longer being offered as of April 2018. Nevertheless, the DMZ tour remains available and provides an incredible yet surreal experience. The Third Tunnel of Aggression is a must-see attraction in this region.
Very modern, interesting and odd station to nowhere (so far).
Will be nice to go back when it's connected to Pyeongyang.
You can have a free stamp in the station (NOT recommended to put it in your passport)
Antonio Martín Mendieta — Google review
Dorasan Station was intended to connect the South Korean rail network to North Korea's and hopefully the rest of the Asia rail network. The station was built for international use, but because of the ongoing tensions, the huge station is mostly empty, save for some memorabilia.
You can take the DMZ train to the station or visit it as part of a tour, but there is not much to see here other than the railway tracks that go into North Korea. The DMZ train only runs once per day and you have to take it from a South Korean station.
If you're visiting as part of a tour, you will need to pay 1000 won to access the platform with the tracks. Strongly recommend you to do that as there is not much to see in the station itself.
Perhaps in the future you can take a train from here to Pyongyang.
Luke Phang — Google review

The Dora Observatory is a hilltop post that provides visitors with pay binoculars to look into North Korea. From this vantage point, one can observe various sights including the North Korean propaganda village and Kaesong city. Additionally, it also offers a view of the northernmost train stop on South Korea's railway line, Dorasan Station. Some locals hope that when peace finally prevails between the two Koreas, this station will connect them once again.
Depending what you are into, this place is either very interesting or not. I thought it was great because you get to view all the propaganda with your eyes. North Korea built a fake town just for propaganda. Also there are no cars. When viewing North Korea I was able to see someone on a bike. It's crazy to think that this country is so close with so much censorship. It has really opened my eyes to this. The actual Dora Observatory is closed, but there is another right next to it. Depending where you are from and your interest this is a great visit.
TJ — Google review
The observatory shows some history between South and North Korea. However, reading up on the history between the two will enrich the visit even more.
Highly recommended to visit on days with clear skies in order to see North Korea.

DMZ is the one and only in the world. I booked my trip to DMZ including Dora Observatory through a travel agency. Overall, the best experience ever. So memorable.

At the DMZ between North and South Korea. from here you will see North Korea in a distance and the tall post of the N. Korean flag. My stop here was planned and I liked it. If you have few days in S Korea, make time to visit this place, the DMZ. There are several tour operators. There is a gondola ride over a river that offers a panoramic views of the area.

It was an interesting experience visiting this location. We had decent visibility that allowed us to see a long way into North Korea. We could just see some of the soldiers and citizens too. It would be nice if there were more powerful telescopes, but I guess they have to be user friendly.
The restaurant / Cafe there was good with nice hot drinks and basic but tasty food.
The key really is to have a good tour guide to make your experience valuable.
We had Moon from VIP DMZ tours. She was extremely good.

The one we went is just opened about one week ago. Nice sightseeing place to go see the other side of the border. Beautiful scenery. What was said that the town on the other side is a fake town. This would be the third and final stop if you take DMZ tour package.
Khaz — Google review
Beautiful views of the DMZ. Try and make sure you go on a clear day otherwise you won't see much. The observation binoculars are at a height for 5 foot people so as a six foot man it was a bit of a pain bending over everytime I wanted look. It is as of 7/10/22 the only way to see Panmunjeon joint security area as it is closed until further notice. And you really can't see much anyway. Worth a short visit
Bill Niester — Google review
Fascinating stop in the DMZ. It feels very surreal to observe life in North Korea from the telescopes in this observatory. It is possible to see the South Korea village in the DMZ, a bit of the JSA, the propaganda village in the North Korea side and some cities and industrial complexes in North Korea. With luck, it is even possible to see people working the land in the North Korea side.

The DMZ as a whole is an incredible experience, but the Observatory is definitely a highlight. The weather was pretty cloudy when we went, but we could still spot most of the landmarks across the border. It was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience, seeing NK right in front of our eyes! Our guide (shout-out to Erica!) was so nice and made sure everyone had a great, fulfilling time.

We were picked up outside our downtown hotel opposite City Hall. Excellent full day tour visiting observatory, Freedom Park, 3rd Tunnel within the DMZ. A far better experience than we were expecting. Our guide Miel explained the recent history, i.e. the Korean War and attempts at reunification, which put our visit into context. The tour brought home how big power politics in this country shockingly overrides the lives of millions of services and civilian lives. Looking into North Korea itself and seeing people going about their lives and learning about the tunnels was fascinating. Highly recommended
Ian Ferris — Google review
Such an amazing view into North Korea. You can see the flag towers and fake cities. They provide plenty of free-to-use binoculars for peeking in. I got some pretty good shots although I could have done a lot better with a DSLR and optical zoom lens. Go visit the DMZ! After learning about and seeing even a portion of North Korea you'll love and respect your homeland like you never did before.

The view from the top can be enhanced by looking through the telescopes. You'll see North Korea and it's flag and village. Most Tour guides allow people to blast off some K-pop or other music towards North Korea - I'm sure you know why.

We came on a guided tour and spent about an hour here. The stories are fabulous and the views of North Korea are awesome. It is free to use the telescopes and they have interactive displays. Well worth a visit. If you were here. We learned so much on the tour about the history of South Korea and North Korea and really enjoyed the experience.

Being able to see across into North Korea is a unique experience, there's many telescopes to look through. Recommend booking on DMZ tour on weekdays as it was not busy at all

we came here on our DMZ tour (with VIP tours). it's a slight walk up a hill to the observatory. you can view inside through windows and also head upstairs to view from outside with binoculars provided. there's a short few minute video you can watch and also a cafe inside. air-conditioned and free wifi too.
Kristy Robinson — Google review
Perfect to do some North Korean villages spotting, if the weather allows it. Free bynoculars to peek into North Korea. The observarory is new, so there are toilettes and a coffee shop. At The parking lot there's also a souvenir shop.

The Dora Observatory 도라전망대 offers a truly unique and poignant glimpse into North Korea. With the on-site telescopes, I was able to observe North Korean civilians riding their bikes, with not a car in sight, offering a stark contrast to the bustling world we know. The fluttering North Korean flag stands as a silent testament to the country's isolated status. While the observatory can be crowded at times, it's a solemn reminder that just a few kilometers away, there are people facing unimaginable challenges. A humbling and heart-wrenching experience. Highly recommended.

Wonderful experience here. In awe of the vast space between N n S Korea. I wonder how is it like living and working within this DMZ.
Its a shame that 2 countries with exactly same language, same culture, same food, same families are separated by this strip of land, designated not by Korea themsleves but by some foreign "imperialistic" powers.
Dora observatory serves us a reminder of what war can do to innocent families.
There are free binoculars to see acroos to N Korea at the rook top, an theatre with full height windows to show case the view of DMZ.
Hiatiry wonderfully curated for understanding of the DMZ.
A must go when visiting S Korea.
Gives u the feeling of helplessness and oppressed when ur country is weak.

Dora Observatory was a highlight of my DMZ Tour that I booked online with PLK Travel. I could see there the North Korean territory through binoculars which was a very exciting experience. It wasn't crowded that gave me enough time to do it, take a lot of pictures and movies. It's a must if you have an extra day in Seoul and want to see a unique place.
Tomasz — Google review
Doing a DMZ Tour and going to the observatory gives you a chance to peek into a part of the world only seen on the news. The whole experience is surreal but worth doing. Try to plan around the weather so the view is not obstructed by clouds or rain.
Konrad — Google review
The touch screen TV that guides the view is as good as using the binoculars. Recommend using both. We were lucky that we were there on a very clear day so could see loads of buildings within North Korea. Pretty much have to go on a guided tour.
Tim Roddan — Google review
Perfect place. Modern, clean and the perfect way to spot into noth korea territority. In general it is free of charges and you are able to see soldiers and workers in north korea when using the free of charge binoculars. Of course you need some good weather conditions :)
A cafe and a shop can also be found in this building.

Excellent view and friendly tour guides, did rush us a bit but worth the view over to North Korea!

The Nikon P1000 brought North Korea a lil closer when I was at the Dora Observatory. No human movement in this propaganda city but spotted some North Koreans on the snow in the landscape pictures.

The Third Tunnel, also known as the Third Tunnel of Aggression, is one of four tunnels dug by North Korea with the suspected intention of invading South Korea. It has the potential to transport a large number of soldiers at an alarming rate and there may be other undiscovered tunnels. Despite North Korea's claim that it was part of a coal mine, evidence found on the tunnel walls suggests otherwise.
We took the first bus which is 9.20am and manage to beat the crowd. We were very fortunate to take the monorail down the third tunnel and it was a incredible experience. There was no photography allow and all camera and mobile devices had to be kept at the locker. The tunnel is really low in height and strongly recommend to keep your blue safety helmet on as I knock my head against the ceiling for a few time. It is not suitable for people that are claustrophobia.
Jianhui — Google review
It's definitely an interesting experience. It's not for those that have bad back or knee issues. Be prepared to bend over walking if your tall. Its something I'm glad I did for the experience, but while I thought it was interesting, my lungs didn't. But I'm at least glad I did it. It's a good piece to the history lesson within the DMZ. The outside area is cool though.

An absolutely authentic experience! Going down to the actual tunnel is on a steep incline, so make sure you can come back up. It is not for the fainthearted! If you are claustrophobic, skip it. But when you get down and in, almost to the point where you are the closest to the border, the feeling is phenomenal! Once in a lifetime opportunity! It is only a guided tour and you cannot take anything in the tunnel - even your phone must be left behind! So worth it!

Another great visit in the DMZ. Warning 358M steep downhill walk that descends 75M below ground. If you're tall 250 meter walk hunched over. You get to see the ridiculous North korean garden at the end.... At the end you are roughly 150 meters from the actual border. Farthest you can get into the fenced DMZ.

We booked a tour through Trip Advisor called Best DMZ tours third tunnel. It was an action packed day and I learned so much. The tunnel was dug by hand and with dynamite by North Korea. South Korea found out and has sealed the tunnel, but we got to walk down into tunnel. It’s a steep incline, no steps. You have to crouch down the whole time as the ceiling is very short, they do give you helmets to wear to protect your head. You are not able to take any pictures while you’re in the tunnels.

The "Half Day DMZ tour" seemed very touristy and left us pretty disappointed.
Most things on this tour are very commercialized to gain tourist money from this world famous conflict.
Almost the only authentic thing on the tour was this tunnel. All attractions around this tunnel are Disney like (DMZ sign, life size plastic soldiers in uniforms,...).
Considering the tunnel, basically you descend down to see a simple primitive tunnel of 200-300 m length and that's it, but again it's original. It was dug by North to attack South along with few another tunnels. The story how it was found is very interesting.
Beware, if claustrophobic don't go down. Same applies if your not in good physical shape - the path down is very steep and long. Many of us got breathless (including me) on the way back up. No photos down, you must leave all your belonging in lockers

The Third Tunnel of Aggression, also known simply as the Third Tunnel, is one of four known tunnels under the border between North Korea and South Korea, extending south of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Discovered in 1978, it is considered part of North Korea's infiltration and invasion preparations. The tunnel is about 1.7 kilometers long, 2 meters high, and 2 meters wide. It runs through bedrock at a depth of about 73 meters below ground and was designed to facilitate a sudden invasion by North Korean forces, potentially allowing thousands of soldiers to pass through per hour along with light weaponry.Constructed by North Korea, the tunnel was discovered following a tip from a North Korean defector. North Korea initially denied its existence and later claimed it was part of a coal mining operation, even going so far as to paint the walls with black coal dust to support this claim. However, geological evidence disproved this, as there were no coal deposits in the area.

The only place where you can actually enter the DMZ is here, underground. It's the closest you can get to the border too.
It was about 20 minutes return to do the walk, and if you are more than 150cm you will have to do a lot of bending over to not hit your head. They do give you a helmet though.
It was certainly worth going underground just to experience the tunnel. There is underground spring water to drink at the bottom.
We went there with VIP tours and our host Moon was fantastic.

Going into the tunnel was more physically challenging than we expected. Descending to the base of the tunnel is easy. Walking along the tunnel is extremely tiring for tall people. The actual tunnel is only 160cm (5 feet 3 inches) high. So anyone taller than that will have to walk along the entire length of the tunnel while bending forwards. If you are a tall person with back problems, DO NOT attempt this. I’m 6 feet tall and was extremely tired after bending and walking for 20 minutes. After all that, we had to climb up (walk upwards on a 30 degree slope) for 20 minutes to reach the outside. Tiring but a great experience.
Sadly, they do not allow you to take pictures inside. You have to leave your bags and phones in safe lockers at the entrance.

Imjingak Tourist Information Center is a park located in South Korea that houses monuments commemorating the Korean War, along with historical information and scenic views of a bridge leading to North Korea. The center also includes the Imjingak Resort, which was constructed with the hope of eventual unification between North and South Korea. Additionally, visitors can explore the North Korea Center of Unification Board, which features numerous photographs and documents showcasing the harsh reality of life in North Korea.
Booked the tour from Klook. Great experience & Informative session. Took about 5 hours for the entire tour. This tour is safe (on exceptional case, the Korean army will advice the tour to make alternative arrangement). Prepare your passport as strict check are conducted by the Korean army personal.

First stop for any DMZ tour, since the tickets are sold "first come, first serve", so the tour agencies must stop here and purchase the tickets. Inside the building are facilities, toilets, restaurants and cafes. Moreover, it has a nice view into the CCZ (civilian control zone). You can already feel the heavy military presence, since the tour guide will tell you that take photographs (or videos) of the military facilities and personnel is strictly forbidden

It's not about the place but just my personal opinion. Probably I'm not the kind of person who can be amazed by places like this. The history and reality of these two countries are sad but as a tourist spot is nothing much to see. Especially some tour operators from Seoul are tricky so it will make it even worse. Anyway thank you🤷♂️

It feels a little weird to have such a touristic approach to the DMZ but it definitely makes things comfortable while you wait for the actual tour. Lots of restaurants in the facility and even an amusement park nearby, which is a contrast with the many monuments displayed nearby, like the Freedom Bridge and the Last Train.

there are two shops selling north korean currency. it was so super expensive. but you can buy their old and new notes. i didnt know hence i only able to buy coins. the shop near the bridge have nice coins and money. check out first before u buy.
be careful not to take photos at the military side! there are posters telling you not to do so.

its very well developed and holds much historic significance. it feels more real to feel the separation up close at the DMZ as opposed to just reading about it on a screen. sad to see the hardship of physical separation caused by ideological separation. it makes u ponder how things would have been different. MY and SG might not be named North and South Malaya, but to a much lesser extent of separation (some argue next to none haha), destinies of two nations are so different 50 yrs down the road.

TERRIFIC. At the DMZ border between North & South Korea. Learnt about Korean War and pray earnestly for their peaceful reunification one day. As of April 2023, I booked this tour with Klook & the tour agency in charge was Seoul City Tour Agency. Was told that the military limiting 1000 visitors a day and therefore we departed as early as 4am from Seoul to get to Imjingak (about 50 minutes journey) & the tour guide Miel queued for the admission tickets. Visited DMZ area at 1030am, went to the 3rd tunnel, pavilion overlooking north korea with binoculars and lastly the unification village for nice bean ice cream and bean coffee. Unforgettable experience, would recommend to anyone who values peace and learning history!

Panmunjom, also known as the Joint Security Area (JSA), is a popular destination for tourists interested in visiting the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Visitors have the option to take tours specifically focused on Panmunjom or the DMZ. It's recommended to make reservations at least three days in advance, and online booking is often the best way to secure a spot.

Hillside Buddhist temple reached by a popular forested hiking trail with a waterfall & many stairs.
Great hike, not to crowded. Not really to high up as well. We hit all the peaks and there’s a well used trail that connected all the peaks.

Pocheon Herb Island is an amusement park that features a diverse selection of themed attractions, alongside cafes and a souvenir store. Located near Dumulmeori Lake and Edelweiss Swiss, it's a must-visit destination during the summer months in Korea. The park offers picturesque views for visitors to enjoy while taking leisurely walks or capturing memorable photos. It's highly recommended to visit during the evening to experience the glamourous setting with its sparkling lights.
Exceptional. Should not miss this if you are located around Seoul. Recommend visiting at evening so that you could enjoy both day and night time. The park comes to its glamorous view during the night time with all the bling bling lights. Recommend trying both Hibiscus and Lavender ice cream.
Pathum Rathnayaka — Google review
We joined a tour, and one of the destinations was Herb Island. It's a really big place, it has a shop that has mostly plant based items. Such as skin care, tea, candles, etc. They also have a foot spa area. The interior of the shop is very beautiful as well as the front entrance. The staff were really friendly and hospitable.
At night, the whole place lights up, and it's beautiful. Instead of me telling more spoilers, go visit yourselves! Worth it!

A good place to visit, the most beautiful thing with natural trees and gardens, the best time to visit it is in the spring, in the middle of the week it is completely empty

Amazing place to explore. Lots of different plants. It's like being in wonderland. Loved it!! You definitely need a few hours to explore. The food at the restaurant on top was great!!!
Mar Torres — Google review
What a miserable place. The themes were all over the place and looked like something out of a school funfair. Attractions were dated, with a peeling paint and potholes kind of dilapidated look throughout.
The food was even worse. Eat to live kinda food, although the steak pasta at the western restaurant was passable. Extremely hilly, so be prepared to walk up and down a lot.
I feel bad saying this, but it’s a sad attraction that left a stain in my itinerary.

Pocheon Herb Island is a large herb garden. There are many zones inside, like Herb Museum, Herb Garden, Herb bakery (this is special), International Village, Traditional Market, aroma therapy centre, herbs related souvenir shops. It's better to visit in the evening as it'll be lit up with light all around. It's a bit difficult to reach this place as the frequency of public transport is very less. Try to avoid winter ad it'll be really cold. It's a great one time trip for good photos. It's good for couples and kids. It can be considered as a romantic getaway. It's also good for people who love botany, arts and crafts.
Anil Katti — Google review
An interesting place to go if you have time to explore the area. Be sure to go to the spa and get some DIY projects. A good spot for families. Go in the evening so you can enjoy the lights more. The bakery and botanical garden was a huge favorite for our group.
Lottie godsey — Google review
It's ok, if in the area. Everything seemed kinda run down. It's a place to take pictures when the lights come on after 1830... and you can by herb related souvenirs and food. So, yeah.

Pocheon Art Valley is a former granite quarry that has been transformed into a picturesque park-like complex featuring outdoor sculptures, a lake and a concert stage. The park boasts of many beautiful and unique pieces of art scattered throughout the area including a stunning waterfall. Visitors can enjoy riding the monorail or take on the steep hills for some exercise. The park also features convenient facilities like dog-friendly areas and little cafes with good views at the top.
I throughly enjoyed this place. It was a nice little outing. I loved sitting on the swings overlooking the hills. It was very picturesque. This is a nice place to take your partner or your family. It has many beautiful and unique pieces of art scattered throughout the place. There is also a beautiful waterfall. I highly advise riding the monorail unless you want to climb steep hills. I would suggest getting the roundabout ticket. Overall, I paid for 1 adult with a round-trip on the monorail ₩9500.

A quarry with some nice art, not sure if it is a must-see attraction, especially if you are visiting for a short time in south korea. If you go, definitely go at night, during the weekend and in the Fall. A lot of the attractions are not open during week or during day. The views of the moutains in the Fall would be so beautiful!

Excellent place to spend time with your friends and family. Offers a variety of activities at a pocket friendly prices. Monorail is an unique experience. Sanmaru Concert Hall will give you a glimpse of Korean Culture as well. There's an Astronomical observatory for kids. Sculpture park with nearly 30 sculptures made of granites are on display. Reaching this place is a bit difficult by public transport. All in all a very good place to spend a day.
Anil Katti — Google review
Nice park area and dogs can come so convenient. The monorail was broken when we were there but the hike up wasn’t bad. Little cafe at the top with good views.
Nippon Fraser — Google review
I would simply advise to go if you have time to spare. The lenght of the trip there by bus or car is not worth the experience.
It is sort of pretty and the setting is cool but that's all. The garden with sculptures is OK.
If you are OK with walking then save the money from the monorail fee as its a nice exercise to walk up to the quarry.
The facilities are good including parking, cafes and toilets. Avoid the astronomy museum...not good.
The crowd is mixed, from tourists which ate mayority from Korea, to school kids and the eventual foreign tourist bus tour

Very amazing place. Be awake you have to walk mountain veeeeery much but its really worth it the view is amazing if the fine dust is not too much also the water and the rocks are so amazing. Goseokjeong Pavilion, or 고석정, stands as a cultural gem amidst the tranquil landscapes of South Korea. Nestled in the picturesque Gangwon Province, this pavilion offers a serene retreat with its breathtaking views and historical significance. Perched on the rocky cliffs overlooking the Sokcho coastline, the pavilion provides an awe-inspiring panorama of the East Sea and the surrounding mountains.
The pavilion's architecture showcases a harmonious blend of traditional Korean design, emphasizing simplicity and elegance. Visitors can appreciate the cultural significance of the pavilion, as it has been a source of inspiration for poets and scholars throughout history. The calming ambiance and natural beauty make it an ideal spot for contemplation and reflection.
Surrounded by lush greenery, Goseokjeong Pavilion serves as a gateway to explore the adjacent Seoraksan National Park, renowned for its diverse flora and fauna. The hiking trails leading from the pavilion into the park offer a delightful adventure for nature enthusiasts.
While Goseokjeong Pavilion may not be as widely known as some other landmarks, its serene beauty, historical relevance, and connection to the stunning natural surroundings make it a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered by those seeking a peaceful escape into South Korea's rich cultural and natural heritage.

This place run by military and so you really have to listen to their instruction upon visiting. There are no English speakers guides there, but luckily our local friend took us there and explained about the history and important of this place. There are English in the video, but if you want to know more or asked any further question, that will be difficult. Recommend to get on the tramp on the way to observation.

(Translated by Google) An excellent place to relax in tents.
The beach is clean, cleaned daily of algae and debris. Lots of toilets.
I liked the administration’s position not to make noise after 11 p.m. Payment is taken per car and per tent.
Cons: 5 km. bad road from the highway, but it is constantly being improved. And very high prices in the store, 300% markup.
There is a barrel of fresh water that you can fill.
A few meters away is a lake with clean water.
I liked the beach, I recommend it to lovers of tent holidays 👍🏻

(Translated by Google) Gorgeous sea, went with my family 3 times, though once they did not pick up the weather, but it’s just fine, there are shops, toilets, showers, and volleyball, a great entertainment for children with a slide in the lake and inflatable slides with a pool! The sea is clean, not deep (if calm), the beach is cleaned, there are observation towers, you can climb on them and look at all the beauty of the sea, I advise you to go!)))) ❗WARNING❗The road is not very good, drive carefully!

(Translated by Google) Perfect place. I rested here for the third time, all three times in the first line. There is a fresh lake nearby, which is very convenient. There is a little algae washing up. The administration monitors the condition of the toilet and shower. Garbage is driven through by truck twice a day and collected, prices are reasonable. Before lunch it is often calm, but after lunch there are small waves. The bottom goes away gradually, so you can safely go with children. The road is more or less.

(Translated by Google) The beach is 6 km from the main road along a dirt road. Entry from a car is 300₽ per day. A garbage bag is provided at the entrance. We were there during the season, it was difficult to find a place to set up camp, the area was not zoned, so anyone could settle down as they wanted. I did not find any trash cans along the beach area. Also, for such a huge beach and the density of vacationers, there are few toilets. There are several shops, attractions for children, several showers, and rentals on site. We were there in mid-August, on Friday there was a long line to get a pass. While I didn't really like this place, I would like to visit this place out of season.

(Translated by Google) I was there as a child, recently I’ve been taking my children for 4 years in a row, they really like it, it’s just a pity that because of work we can’t relax there for more than three days. On the road they would have come up with something and there would have been no price. Regarding entry fees and other things, if it’s expensive, go and relax in the houses, it’s very cheap there😅

(Translated by Google) Was there in August 2020. The beach is sand. Clean. Grass and debris are removed. Water in tanks, toilet (so-so), shower, shops - everything is within a radius of several tens of meters. Cost 300 rub. per day each car, tent, trailer with boat, etc. The road from the turn off the highway is almost 7 km. Not very good, but you can drive a car without any problems.

(Translated by Google) It’s a very beautiful place, it’s nice to relax, there’s a lot of space, but you have to pay for it, but in exchange you get the sea, a lake, a toilet, a shower, garbage collection and silence after 11 pm. In general, it’s beautiful, the sea is clean, the sand is evil, you can stand right by the sea and enjoy the views and sound of the sea all day long
