Murano is a small island located in the Venetian Lagoon and famous for its glass-making industry. The island has several studios where artisans can blow glass into exquisite pieces of pottery, chandeliers, vases and sculptures. Tourists often visit the island to watch skilled artisans work and buy souvenirs at the gift shops.
If you visit Venice you shouldn't miss this island. The world glass capital.
The Cambridge Gardener — Google review
A short boat ride away from Venice. One can easily spend a couple of hours in the village walking through the stores selling all kinds and sizes of locally crafted glass objects. These range from beautiful chandeliers, pieces of jewelry to colorful trinkets, and many more. These are usually expensive. A glass factory tour can also be arranged where one can get a demonstration of how these objects are hand crafted. Some places charge about 10 Euros per person for the visit.
Aditi Varma — Google review
Must visit island if you are travelling Venice. Sublime architecture. And try shopping some from their amazing own made glass products. I found those cheaper than I thought before.
Ahmed Al Madani — Google review
A nice place to go if you have time. The experience is fun. Don’t feel obliged to buy from the factory you take the tour, you may find the same cheaper products in shops ;)
Raj Rana — Google review
Wonderful town with great history. Walking around is so peaceful. One can feel and see how once there were many more small factories producing unique objects you cannot even imagine.
Ingrid Jerkovic — Google review
Lovely island at the north of Central Venice, reachable by vaporetto in just 20 mins, here you can find many artisan shops specialised in the famous murano glass, beautiful, lovely and expensive. I recommend the visit if you have enough time in Venice, maybe half day is enough.
Chris — Google review
Very crowded bus station from Venice to Murano. Would recommend to go early in the morning to avoid long queue. Many glass stores and was able to see their factory at the back of their store. Other than that, lovely island and worth a visit.
Dzung Nguyen — Google review
Wonderful island. Recommend to take the trip if in venice. Also take the glass factory tour with demo on how glass its created.
Raluca Adriana Pascu — Google review
A very beautiful place famous for the glass industry, and it has many beautiful scenery and wonderful places. You can go there by public transportation or through tour groups that will take you on a tour to the glass factory to see an interesting show on how it is made.
mousa thalji — Google review
A very beautiful Island right next to the city of Venice; only a 10 minute boat ride!
Lots of interesting glass shops, restaurants, and gelato shops!
Definitely worth a visit!
Julius — Google review
Don't get me wrong, Murano is a beautiful village and some of the glass works are exceptional. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because it feels like a touristy, commercial village...something which is not a bad thing per se but for me doesn't vibe with the more rustic and wholesome Venice feel that I got. Burano for that reason gets a 5 from me as it just feels more authentic. If you don't have the ability to buy the glassworks, be prepared to get a bit of a cold shoulder.
Nevertheless, if you want to see amazing glassworks and have the means to buy it, this is an absolute must. And don't take the various tours. Take the public ferry service from Venice which runs every 20 mins or so and explore at your own whims and deliberately. You will surely enjoy it more.
Ritesh Sharan — Google review
It is a beautiful and relaxing place to enjoy my day in Murano. We walked almost the whole island and found many beautiful Murano glasses, yummy food, and delicious drinks. The island is colorful and comfortable to walk with a group of friends and family like we did. Murano is a place that you should include in your trip when you're going to Venice next time.
Michael W. — Google review
Never miss Murano … this beautiful island … when being in Venice!
Visit Murano Island:
This archipelago, approximately one square kilometer in size, has been part of Venice since 1924 and consists of seven islands.
These are connected to each other by bridges. Numerous canals run through this district and ensure the typical Venetian appearance.
Murano is best known for his glass art. Many of the approximately 5,000 residents work in one of the traditional glassblowing factories and export their goods all over the world.
The resulting tourism became another important source of income for the population.
In addition, as is usual for a Mediterranean region, fishing plays a major role.
As Murano is an island you may reach it only by boat via Venice.
Karin S. — Google review
Murano Island is renowned for its glass factories, offering visitors a firsthand glimpse into the mesmerizing craft of glassmaking. While the friendly locals enhance the experience, the island's attractions beyond glassmaking are limited, making it primarily a destination for art enthusiasts.
Ammara Waseem — Google review
If you like to see how things are made (in this case hand made glass) it's the place to be. You can visit a family factory and be amazed by the work of the Maestros. Then you can enjoy a nice meal and a good coffee.
Andreea Preda — Google review
So many lovely glass shops! Great for souvenirs! The island was super quiet when I went (around 5-6pm). Got the vaporetto day pass for €25 and chose to stop off here. Glad I did not do a tour as it was nice to explore on my own. Don’t need more than a couple hours here.

Land of Murano glass making. The glass items are all beautifully made but can be rather expensive. Worth a visit, especially if you are interested to see a demo of the glass making process.

We visited the falls today and it was beautiful. We enjoyed our time there. I will say that the hike up to the falls is rocky and steep. The area is breathtakingly beautiful. I enjoyed all the mountains, fresh air, and of course the waterfall and the Cascade. The views were amazing. I would love to return.
I am chronically ill and I was able to hike up the trail. I may pay for it later with body aches and pains but I enjoyed my time with my daughter today.

If you are on the way to Sella Nevea, why not stopping a second? There's even a restaurant or something close by, if it's too cold.
The place is very close to the road. It's worth of the sop, enjoying the wonders of nature. There are benches and a table, I doubt it's ever crowded. The cascade ends in a small lake, and you can even walk behind it.
I really enjoyed the short hike and visit.

Reminded me of Seljalandsfoss in Iceland, where you can also walk behind the waterfall. Quite surreal 👍

Waterfall was a quick hike from the road. About 5mins. Very beautiful place. Water was cold and it is very misty so bring a light jacket.
Samuel Vazquez — Google review
Beautiful waterfall with nice view. There is a small roadside parking next to the road, free. There is a bigger car park but it belongs to a restaurant. You can reach the waterfall in about 10 minutes with easy walking.
Tünde Rein — Google review
Stunning waterfall, crystal clear waters (ice cold) and a beautiful / short trek to it.
Huge underground cave with stalactites & stalagmites, plus visitor center and guided tours.
An absolutely mind blowing experience. I've been to a couple of really impressive caves in different countries over the years, but the grotta gigante blew them all out of the water. 500 uneven stairs up and down to get in and out, so just make sure you are physically ready and have good footwear. Well with the short bus ride or drove out of the way if you are in the Trieste area.
Blake Anton — Google review
Great hike with beautiful views that can only be found here! It's the largest navigable cave in the world to traverse without gear. MUST DO if in the area. We went out and it was still an hour from us, well worth it! Have to reserve in advance, but you can reserve a few hours before on the same day. Public transportation in Trieste can take you there if you don't have a car!
Myah Olstad — Google review
We decided spontaneously to visit this cave and fortunately we were lucky to get tickets at the same day. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic about the cave, especially the geographic aspect. It was very interesting and informative. You can also ask questions and she really took her time answering questions. Wear closed shoes and warm clothes since it does get cold in the cave.
Chia-chen Lehahn — Google review
If you are nearby - take the time to visit this!
Tickets costs just ~13 Euros and it is worth it! We managed to go through the cave in less then 2 hours. It was not very cold, nice to have some jacket, but overall shorts will do just fine. Be ready to walk around 1k stairs, but it was quite easy for non-sporty people to manage them as well. There are many stops on the way, so there is time to take a breath and take some cool photos.
Parking is available nearby the entrance and also you can plan in few more minutes to explore the exhibition that is located in the same building. English language tour is also available.

Amazing cavern in Trieste. Well worth taking the time to visit. Accessible by bus from downtown Trieste. Take your time to enjoy one of nature's wonders. Also take a light jacket as it is damp and bit chilly. Quite a bit of walking so be prepared.

What an amazing experience!
We called to book our spots, although at this time of year there wasn't a problem - sounded like it gets much busier in summer.
Worth getting there early - there is a small but interesting museum to see before (or after) you go down below.
We were lucky to have Veronica as our guide, and she explained a huge amount about the most amazing cave I have ever seen 😎
It is quite steep down and up, but very safe and the steps were absolutely solid.
Great to be able to take a few pictures as well to remember it by...although frankly pictures do not do this remarkable natural structure justice - you need to be there to witness it.
Highly recommended - a very easy and regular 42 bus for us from Trieste 👍

This is an absolute marvel! This gigantic cave is a natural wonder that left me speechless. Exploring its depths was like stepping into another world altogether.
The guided tour was informative and engaging, making the experience all the more fascinating. The lighting showcases the cave's features beautifully without disturbing its natural allure.
The highlight, of course, is the iconic "Hall of Mysteries." The moment I stepped into this colossal chamber, I was left in awe. It's an experience that's hard to put into words.
They also offer a free audio guide which contains more languages than Italian and English.
There is always around +11 in the cave, so taking some warm clothes will be useful.
The staff was very friendly and I even talked a bit with a guide after the excursion.
Absolutely recommend to visit!
Marianna Shemshura — Google review
Didn't expect to visit a cave in Italy but it was really cool glad we did went. It's about 1000 steps total so be prepared.
Greg Farz — Google review
Definitely the largest open area I've seen in a cave. It's overwhelming to enter this huge open space that is completely under ground (as with any cave, of course) and especially to descend to its bottom and then up again. A wonderful experience and a great guide! We had a nice technical discussion and we got interesting details about the earth, not just this cave. Great job!
Alexandru Cherascu — Google review
Huge grotto.
Well-maintained, very safe stairs and intelligent lighting.
Not recommended for people with vertigo and agoraphobia. They should stress this issue more in ads. Depths are huge and spaces vast, one can experience panic attacks similar to ones in open mountains.
Wear proper shoes, floor, especially in non-cavern safe-looking areas is just puddle of water.
Forget warm clothing, its not THAT cold how they warn. You will survive, and kids too.
Upper geodetic pendulum station looks like a location taken straight from Half-Life or Return to Castle Wolfenstein. A must-visit pilgrimage site for geek retrogamers.
Maciek Trybuszewski — Google review
I recommend visiting this cave.
It is unique and spectacular, a magnificent landscape.
The internal temperature is approximately 11 degrees Celsius.
You go down a lot of stairs and climb almost as many, but nothing to be afraid of... it's a welcome exercise while you can admire the geological formations.
The guides are extremely nice and answer all the tourists' curiosities. They provide information that everyone can understand about the interior of the cave, both in Italian and in English.

Excellent attraction. We had a great guide; very informative. For a one hour investment it is well worth a visit if in the area.
You must reserve in advance but unfortunately tickets can only be purchased on site.

Astonishing cave! Our 3 year old manage to happily go down 500 steps and 500 up with little help. He did hurry the group to keep going few times because he didn't understand the guide. Our guide was helpful and told us interested informations about mostly anything in the cave. At the exit is possible to buy various minerals and fossils. Great souvenir shop !

The Grotta was so impressive and the guide was very friendly. 500 steps down and 500 steps up. Enjoyable and unforgettable visit. Advise: please send an email to grotta to book your tickets. If you go to the counter, it is possible the group is full.

We enjoyed a very instructive and witty guided tour in the majestic cave near Trieste. (the guided tour is also available in English). It is 11 degrees in the cave so you need at least a jacket.
There are a lot of stairs, but you can take your time and go slowly.
You need to make a reservation via e-mail or phone beforehand.
The cave is reachable also by bus from Trieste city centre.
I also recommend pizza in the restaurant next to the cave.
Peter Kubík — Google review
So far it is my favorite attraction in Italy as it is so unique and I finally managed to cool down a little. The guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Great place! Sandy beach, sunshine, coctails, all what you need.
Vásári Melinda — Google review
Overcrowded, fuuull of umbrellas and deck chairs. So many people on one place.. The “sandy beach” is not actually a beach, but a place with a sand, not directly connected with the sea. If you want to get to the sea from this “sandy beach”, you need to cross a concrete sidewalk which is between the sand and sea. The bottom of the sea is then with small stones, so not sandy, sea shoes are nice to have. The place made on me an impression of Balcan Monte Carlo. One afternoon visit is enough. Good to see, but half an hour by car in Croatia you can enjoy a way better swimmimg and environment.

Such a beautiful city right on the shoreline. Bunch of places to wine and dine on the boardwalk. Plenty of different beaches to try along with piers to jump off of into the water. The view is absolutely stunning anywhere you look. Definitely going to try and visit again whenever I go back to Slovenia.

Crowded. Two chairs and a sun umbrella costs about 17€ for the day. It's a sandy beach but the water was full of seaweed, so its not recommended for adults who are looking for a good swim
Full of restaurants and bars along the beach, so it's a good place to hangout.
For a good swim, visit the nearby Piran.
Piran's Old Town boasts a well-preserved fortified stone wall with multiple gates, renovated since the 7th century. The impressive Venetian architecture resembles Italy's famous destinations like Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik. For an entry fee of 2 (1.50 for students) in Sept 2021, visitors can climb up the city walls to enjoy a stunning view over the town and out towards the sea.
For only a few euros, you can walk along the top of the walls and soak in the breathtaking views of the sea and coastline. The walls wrap around the charming town of Piran, so you get a glimpse into the lives of locals and a sense of the town's architecture and layout.
If you're looking for an inexpensive but memorable activity in Piran, the Walls of Piran should be at the top of your list. The views are unbeatable, the history is fascinating, and the admission charge is a steal. Walking along these well-preserved walls is like taking a step back in time, with panoramas that will stay with you long after your visit. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Piran-oramic views of the old town & the Adriatic sea. You can climb some of the towers to soak in best views. What a cool spot to start your day in Piran! Not a huge castle, but the views and photo ops are great.

St. George's Parish Church is a historical cathedral situated on the waterfront, boasting a clock tower and incredible panoramic views from the top. Constructed in baroque style during the early 17th century, it replaced an older church dating back to 1344. Visitors can view some of the lavishly adorned interior through a metal grille while full access is granted via the Parish Museum of St George, which also features catacombs and treasury items.
It was only a few euros to go up and see the whole Piran from this tower. It is definitely worth to take this bit of a hike on the wooden stairs. The view from here is magnificent. While you are walking on the wooden stairs, there are angel names engraved in the wood in Latin, Hebrew and Old Greek languages. I recommend going up during sunset. You won’t be disappointed!

The church is located above Tartini square, and from here you have a wonderful view of the city and the sea. At the top of the bell tower is Michael the Archangel, turning in the wind and predicting the weather. Piran is a resort city on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast, known for its long pier and Venetian architecture. Tartini Square is flanked by the Gothic red Venetian House and the frescoed Tartini House. The latter is the birthplace of violinist Giuseppe Tartini. The 19th-century town hall has a stone lion, a symbol of the former Republic of Venice. St. George’s Cathedral, nearby, has 17th-century paintings and marble altars.

It's definitely worth it to buy a "combo" ticket of the church and the bell tower. It's only additional 1,5 euro but you get to see the inside of the church way closer than just watching from behind the cage. On top of that, the church houses a museum of the belltower and itself. Containing holy artefacts as well as archeological site. 100% reccomend!

The heart of the city, impossible to miss. The Fornace parking free shuttle bus stopped us here. Tartini monument with the town hall in the background is the focal point of this nice square surround by cafes and restaurant. It was nice to admire it also from a church's bell tower higher viewpoint!

A beautiful square in the center of Piran with some nice restaurants and cafes. I had these prawns for 9 euro. Unfortunately it was lashing rain in mid May when ilI took the attached images 👍

My favourite place in whole Slovenia probably. The most beautiful daytime is at night. Children playing a bit football there but the crowds are gone. During daylight there are many tourists and it’s quite sunny. But you can sit down in one of the many cafés and have a cappuccino or something.

This little village was such a wonderful surprise! We were staying in Portoroz for a conference and by chance took the free shuttle bus into the village. We then walked everywhere as you cannot drive there. It was so worth it! So beautiful from every angle. Everyone speaks some English too, which was very helpful. But, If you only speak English, be patient and remember they all speak about 4 other languages and we only speak one, so we are the uneducated ones in their space. Delicious Gelato everywhere too!

Piran is one of the most iconic cities in Slovenia.
**Piran**:
Piran is a picturesque town located on the Adriatic coast of Slovenia. It's known for its medieval architecture, narrow streets, and a rich history that dates back to the Roman era. The town boasts a preserved city wall, Venetian Gothic architecture, and beautiful sea views. Piran has a unique charm and is a favorite destination for both tourists and locals.
**Tartini Square (Tartinijev trg)**:
Tartini Square is the main square in Piran and is named after the famous violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, who was born in the town. In the center of the square stands a statue of Tartini, and surrounding the square are several significant historical buildings, including the Town Hall and the Church of St. George. Tartini Square is a hub of activity in Piran, hosting various events, festivals, and gatherings throughout the year.

Nice and charming. Just near marine, with a lot of coffee spots all around.
Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta is a historic site, originally built in 313AD and featuring the largest floor mosaic in Western Christianity. The complex includes the Crypt of Excavations with geometric mosaics and terracotta flooring from an earlier stage, as well as the Fresco Crypt near the altar, housing faded yet beautiful 12th-century frescoes.
For only 5 euro you can enter the basilica and witness one if the oldest mosaic floors in Europe. I've never seen anything like it. The artwork is amazing. The entrance also includes the crypt. For an additional charge you can also see the newly excavated crypt. Highly recommend and hidden gem. Unesco site.

Anyone interested in history, art and architecture should visit this basilica. You can see elements from Roman, Langobard, Carolingian periods, and many more! 🙂

It was interesting to see the various levels built on one another in the basilica. I was impressed with the different mosaics and the different eras of architecture as the buildings grew and developed.
A couple problems were that the glass floors fogged up in places making it difficult to see certain parts of the mosaics, and that there were some areas not quite finished - but it is a beautiful building and worth visiting.
Andrew Grosser — Google review
This is a nice and well preserved basilica that you should see if you are somewhere near. The entrance fee is 5 € for adults and in my opinion it is worth the money. Toilettes are available on site and there is a little gift shop where you buy the tickets. The glorious exterior does put a nice vibe to think what is hiding on the inside. There are parking spots near by (2.5€ /h).

Stopped for "just a few moments" on the way to Austria and stayed for 2,5 hours. This gorgeous basilika and surroundings date back to Roman Time and if you look at the work done "back in the days", you would be speechless about the level of details and how much the people paid attention to the message they wanted to portray. The balance between "good and evil" as well as the internal struggle to a higher power - it is amazing how many stories have been told with a "simple" mosaic. Don't miss it!

Italy is a country of historical beauties and this Cattedrale is undoubtedly one of them.
As soon as one enters the building is immediately overwhelmed by history: the view of the soffit and of the floors, covered by mosaics, is truly breathtaking.
When admiring this church you can “touch” the architectural, engineering and artistic ability of our ancestors: these treasures have withstood over a millennium (even more, when considering the original layers dating from B.C.).
The building basement is a surprise of mosaics and there it’s really astonishing how, through small tiles, those artists were able to depict amazing subjects, such as animals, faces and various objects.
Just a small suggestion: the descriptions of the mosaics made on the handrails, has it is done, is not a very clever solutions, since most of the writings have gone.

I return here around three times a year. It never gets old (no pun intended). It IS magnificent and very old - amazing mosaics the likes of which will simply astound you. The scale of them can’t be described. I’ve added a very small sampling of which there are much more. It’s the oldest known Christian establishment that is mostly intact. Stunningly preserved - wonderfully displayed in its original state. Truly a must see if you are in the area.

The Archaeological Area of Aquileia - Roman Forum is a historical complex that includes the Baptistery, Sudhalle, markets, Forum, Sepolchretum, domus remains, and the Fluvial Port. The area also features the National Archaeological Museum and Early Christian Museum with impressive collections. Looking at Great Peices of History. The National Archaelogical Museum of Aquileia is a fantastic exhibit. Very professional and I believed they honored Liberation Day with free admission, and in return to support them, I purchased a couple literatures peices to read in return. Also visited Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta. The atmosphere was surreal and the Mosaic architecture that is being maintained is beautiful! It would be a great date idea to visit these places with your significant other. My significant other and I had a great time visiting everything that was around, and taking up the history that comes with it. Historians would have a field day!

Great mosaics. Good for a day trip in the local area but do not fly out to see it.
The National Archaeological Museum of Aquileia is a must-visit for anyone interested in Roman civilization. Located at the Cassis Faraone Villa, it boasts an extensive collection of ancient Roman artifacts including statues, jewelry, coins, and household furnishings. The museum's expert presentation offers a unique glimpse into classical life through archaeological finds and writings.
Great presentation of the life, customs, and luxury of the ancient city of Aquileia. One can learn a good bit about the city through an interesting chronology. The exhibition leads you to discover the Austrian origins of the museum (1882) and its first acquisition as part of the Italian state (1915), and is then divided into sections: public sculpture, domestic luxury (wonderful mosaics and ancient glass!), trade and crafts, coins and jewels. The collection of tomb inscriptions, housed in the garden and being re-ordered now, is impressive. Great conclusion for a day trip in Aquileia!
GLoi — Google review
The museum has had a makeover recently and the set-up is neat, take it from an archi student. Every object is presented in a way that valorizes it perfectly, also there is plenty of plaques explaining every aspect of what's showcased, both historical and of matter info.
I personally don't know the price of tickets but it's free for art history/architecture students, and there's a pass called "FVG Card Aquileia" that for the price of 15€ gives you access to the Basilica and the two cripts, the baptistery and two other mosaic exposition.

Great museum that was open later than we expected (7pm). We visited on a Saturday (25 March 2023) around 430pm. We spent about 1.5 hrs but could have spent 2-3h reading more signs.
3 floors inside + outdoor area -- unfortunately the outdoor area is under renovation so you can't tour the whole thing but you can still enjoy some of it. Signs in Italian and English that gave great insight. A small gift shop of mostly books but a few other treasures.
Loved learning about the city and seeing so many Roman artifacts. It'll never get old seeing back into history & daily lives like this!

Unfriendly and unreasonable staff. We wanted to lean our bicycles on the tree next to the bicycle stand, when an older lady from the museum staff came and ran us away. We tried to explain her that it is impossible to park the way she wants, since our bicycles are packed with rear bags (this is the Alpe-Adria trail nonetheless) and would thus fall, but to no avail. We decided not to visit the museum.

Very well organised and presented finds with English information boards. The finds are in excellent condition and I loved the mosaics, especially the unswept floor and the vine & ribbon - incredible detail and beautiful. The collection of Roman seal stones and cameos on the top floor was extremely good. Bring a magnifying glass or use your phone - the workmanship is brilliant.

This is one of the most expertly presented Roman museums I've ever come across. Totally unexpected. Not the usual, repetitive schoolbook texts but rather real slices of life from classical authors and archeology. There's something for everyone here, from children to historians. Must-see if in the area.
Don't miss the base of a very late statue attesting early Christian interest in claiming Vergil, a relief warning against public urination, and the impressive Clymene mosaic in the lapidarium.

The Basilica of Santa Eufemia, located in the historical town of Grado, is an ancient Catholic church renowned for its ornate art. This beautiful example of Byzantine architecture dates back to the 6th century and houses valuable artworks such as mosaics, frescoes, and altarpieces. Adjacent to the Basilica is the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, both featuring impressive mosaics and frescoes.
A very old church, in the historical town Grado. I recommend visiting it, if you spend some time in this beautiful town. When you attend the holy mass on sunday you can hear the wonderful chore during the mass, mainly consisting of elder Grado citizens. A pleasant experience.

Ancient church in the heart of "Old Grado". The whole area is extremely worthy of a tour. There is a "labirinth" of narrow alleys and streets that open - almost suddenly - in small squares ("Calli"). Often there are restaurants, almost hidden but valuable.

Situated in a desirable location, amidst the picturesque waters of the Lagoon of Marano, Pizzeria Ristorante Al Faro has undergone a complete renovation. It is a charming and family-operated establishment that strikes a balance between excellence and the search for quality ingredients. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it an ideal meeting spot. A recent visitor described their experience as pleasant, pointing out that despite being off-season, there were few patrons present.
Came here on a Saturday around 1400hrs. Its still off season so there was not a lot of people. Very friendly staff and the food was very good! The prices were also good and matches the portion size. Will definitely come back here again!

Parco Junior in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy is a popular amusement park offering an enjoyable experience for both kids and adults. Situated in the city center, it features a range of thrilling rides, games, and entertainment options. Visitors can purchase tokens for the attractions or opt for a day pass to make the most of their visit. The park also includes a 4D cinema with various short films, making it a great place to spend time with children.
Great value for money, I'd recommend it rather for smaller kids (3-7) since the rides are not very intense. Do not buy coins buy the card for the whole day and ride anything you want so many times you want. No entry fee, opened from 10:30 am till 10 pm. Also we didn't have to wait at all
Teedee — Google review
Parco Junior is great fun for under -12s, and I definitely recommend the day pass if you plan on spending more than an hour or so there. Otherwise you’ll blow through your tokens in no time, and many attractions are unattended, so if you have the day pass bracelet, you just jump in rather than waiting for the attendant to come.
Four stars rather than five because six of the attractions are closed from 1:30-6:00, and because a simple carousel would round out the other rides.
To be fair though, the rides that are closed in the afternoon would probably be unbearably hot during those times, since they are for the most part the only ones without shade. Tip: get there at the 10:30 opening time and do those before lunch, then hit the rest afterwards.
Gary Avery — Google review
Great place for our 6-year-old son for about 2 hours. We bought 13 coins for €26. One attraction is 1 coin. Our son tried all the attractions alone.
1 negative point: the parking area was full although there were few people in the Park (11:30-1:30). Clearly it is allowed for anyone to leave their car in their own parking lot, the attendant does not care. Also there is a height limit, a car with roof box cannot go in (the area is not covered, so we did not understand why there is such a limitation).
Tünde Forrásné Toldy — Google review
I loved their inside environment, clean and shady. Not so big so the parent are not going to be over tired. But only one negative thing it was many of the toy like 6 or 7 toys are not inservice during 13.30 - 18.00 on week day. And unfortunately it was the one we were wanted to play.

Visited there today since it’s only 15 mins from our hotel :) 5 of us altogether paid 42€ (kids under 3 are free). We spent about 2.4-3hrs there. What we like about:
1) Clean, hygiene, well maintained
2) Varieties are in good range
3) Very friendly staffs
4) Really can see some nice animals (not empty cage always) which are living in nice environments. Staff are with nice hearted smiles when feeding the animals (not doing it as a job only), we feel very nice
5) Not crowded, easy indications, easy learning info board of each animals
6) Kids can play at the playground and pet some animals 🤩
Well worth to spend time there with kids! Our kids are super happy 😊
One star is missing :
1) maybe install some drinking fountains for kids/ visitors would be nice. Now is none.
2) Small stone paths… might be better to be another materials which would benefit for other visitors who has Kinderwagen

Great for smaller children. When we visited the zoo with our 2 year old it was really hot. However the trees at the park stiIl provided enouh shade that we could see everything. It took us around 2 hours to go around so the zoo is not too beg yet it has great veriety of animals. It also has enough picninc areas and playground partly in the shade so we could really enjoy it. Would definetly recommend if you are passing by or in the area. One thing that it made it really great was that children can feed the goats and they really enjoy it.

Madonna dell'Angelo is a charming chapel and revered destination for pilgrims, constructed back in 1751 as a tribute to the Virgin Mary. Nestled by the beach, it stands out magnificently as an iconic landmark of Caorle. This serene location offers a peaceful ambiance and is impeccably clean. The town center is easily accessible on foot within minutes which makes it ideal for a quick visit.
Took some time here for praying in the morning during our 1 day visit. The church is currently being renovated, but only the external walls and the roof. You can still enter to it and enjoy the beautiful inside, you can also support and donate the renovation progress also in some hotels and inside the church as well. Many of the visitors are coming in the morning period before they are going to enjoy the day here.

On the beautiful promenade and next to the public beach, is this little but interesting and unique church. The position of the church is very impressive. It seems that it is drawn between the beach and the sea, with an imposing cliff that protects it from storms. We have visited it many times and each time it delights us with its uniqueness and beautiful energy. The sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Angelo is dedicated to the Madonna and to St. Michael the archangel, which proudly stands on the shore of the Adriatic Sea, founded around the ninth century and rebuilt in its current form in 1751. Bishop Pietro Rusca, in his report to the Holy See from 1664, states that this church is older than the cathedral itself. The first construction of the church of the Angel is to be attributed to the first transmigrations of the Concordians towards the coastal territories, following the barbarian invasions of the inland territories. This makes the sanctuary the first religious building constructed in the city founded by the Romans, according to a statement from Giovanni Musolino (historical). This first sacred building was dedicated to the Archangel San Michele, recognized as the protector of the city, as can be read in the tombstones affixed to today's sanctuary and in numerous documents from the pastoral visits of the bishops. Popular tradition, told by Musolino, has it that in ancient times some fishermen found the simulacrum of the Holy Virgin miraculously floating on the sea on a block of marble. Once the statue was brought ashore with their fishing nets, the citizens gathered in the nearby port of the Angel, and decided to place a statue of the Holy Virgin in this church. From there she got the name Madonna dell'Angelo.

Viale Madonna dell'Angelo, 12, 30021 Caorle VE, Italy
The Cathedral of Santo Stefano is the oldest monument in Caorle. It dominates in Piazza Vescovado, in the heart of the historic center. The structure visible today was erected in 1038 on the ruins of a pre-existing early Christian basilica of the seventh century, from which it takes some Byzantine-Ravenna details, later, due to the barbarian invasions that raged in nearby Concordia, Caorle became a bishopric until 1807. During this period, the numerous bishops left various testimonies of their work, from coats of arms to paintings and frescoes, but also sculptures in memory of particular events and even tombs that some of them wanted inside the cathedral. The facade takes up the classical canons of the Romanesque style. The large central door is surmounted by two rose windows and guarded by two Byzantine bas-reliefs from the 12th century, which portray Sant'Agatonico, on the left, and San Teodoro, on the right. Inside the cathedral the fusion of the Romanesque and Byzantine-Ravenna architectural styles can be recognized. Among various 14th century frescoes, large paintings, splendid sculptures and ancient relics, the naves are divided by rows of imposing columns and magnificent pillars that support wide arches. It is impossible not to notice the large fifteenth-century crucifix, suspended above the large central apse and illuminated by beautiful Byzantine-style lamps, it is equally difficult not to be captivated by the beauty of the Pala d'Oro displayed above the main altar. The right aisle also houses the most precious canvas: "The Last Supper" by Gregorio Lazzarini, master of Tiepolo, instead, in the left aisle, near the small apse, there is the painting of the "Saving of Peter" which, according to some historians, is attributed to the hands of Titian. Next to the Cathedral is an extremely beautiful and unusual bell tower, which complements the historical richness of the Cathedral with its significance.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Duomo di Santo Stefano Protomartire, and it left me awe-struck. The stunning architecture, intricate details, and serene atmosphere created a truly captivating experience. Exploring its historical significance was a journey through time. A must-visit for anyone seeking a profound connection with history and art.

At the entrance there is a small shrine in the exact place of the apparition.
It is a place that transmits peace and serenity, in an increasingly frenetic world based on consumerism it represents an oasis where you can meditate and pray 🙏 in tranquility, it is frequented by both believers and non-believers.

It is a place of numerous pilgrimages, and the church, although simple and modest, impresses you with the great devotion of the believers who visit it often.
The basilica survived a flood in 1966. The water reached a height of 4 meters, there is a notch on the facade of the basilica that marks the level.
After more than 500 years from the day of the apparition of the Holy Mother of God, this place is a permanent place of pilgrimage for believers who stop to pray, ask for divine help, and give thanks for the received "gifts" (numerous photos of testimonies can be seen in the corridor of the basilica.)
Madonna heals, gives babies and performs many more miracles, for which the parishioners thank her.
A visit to this basilica will purify and enrich you at the same time.
As you travel through the north of Italy, be sure to find time to visit **Basilica Santuario Madonna dei Miracoli**
I recommend choosing the long alley that leads from the city center to the church - it will be a nice walk.

Святилище, присвячене Мадонні, **Basilica Santuario Madonna dei Miracoli**, побудоване після 1510 року на місці її явлення в Motta di Livenza.
Basilica Santuario Madonna dei Miracoli**

Milan Ponický — Google review
First problem was parking as it was after the rain and the shopping place was overcrowded. Took about 30 minutes. Se spend another 30 mins in queue cause you need to print online tickets. On site, they provide family tickets which you cannot buy online. The place inside is nice, but not with tons of people so you cannot even move. Add another star if you are here (almost) alone.
Štěpán Cenek — Google review
I do not really recommend the aquarium for an adult couple. In my opinion it isn't worth the money because it is quite small and you will be at the end after 20 minutes if you don't sit down and take some time to watch the fishes or read the boards. The space for the audience during the feeding show is not big enough. Anyway you get some interesting information and with kids you can probably spent a great time in here.

Really nice place to spend an hour or two. There’s a good variety of fish and a nice atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and I even saw some of them explaining different exhibits to other visitors. It has free parking if you’re traveling by car but it’s also conveniently located if you’re staying in the area. Everyone really enjoyed our time there.
The main drawback was not being able to use a stroller inside. I understand why but it’s a bit of an inconvenience for families. They offered us a sling but my daughter was just over the weight limit. Just something to keep in mind for families with young children.
It’s also a bit on the pricey side (unless you find a deal online) when you compare it to other Sealife aquariums (or other aquariums for that matter) for what’s there. However, it’s kinda to be expected and I wasn’t disappointed on our visit.

Reasonably priced (€10 adults €8 children). Didn't keep us waiting to fill up with customers. Went round 4 times which was good value. I'm led to believe the views were great too but my eyes were either closed or I was staring at the floor as I hate heights lol.

This wheel is not that great, you get pretty high up but the pod you sit in is too safe, everything is closed up and sealed. When i go to experience like this i want to feel some adrenaline and have a feeling that i’m not 100% safe, which this wheel lacks a lot.
Jesolo as a city is also not that pretty so the view won’t be that extraordinary, it might be during the day (i was there during the night).
In conclusion, it is a nice chill ride 10 minutes for 10€ adult/ 8€ children. Perfect for people who are scared of hights.

Tropicarium Park is an animal park that features a variety of animals from around the world. The park is divided into three areas: reptiles, predators (including Nile crocodiles and sharks), and an aquarium. While the park does not currently have its own parking lot, there are nearby private lots available for visitors to use. Notable attractions include penguins, a butterfly collection that allows visitors to enter their natural habitat, crocodiles, and sharks.
Decent experience for the size of the "Park". The three expeditions tie fairly well together and make for a cohesive experience, even for a group without children (age 17-21). Most of the exhibits have signs on them that explain stuff about the animal, which could be interesting for a lot of people. All in all, a good experience for little money.

I liked the aquarium! It's not so big, so it's easy to see things in a good time. I removed one star because there was a huge turtle going around again and again trying to exit the small room. I felt sad seeing it but I'm sure the zoo keepers take care of the animals here!

Alright, folks, I have one word to describe Tropicarium Park - amazing! It's an absolutely incredible zoo where you can see all kinds of animals that will blow your mind.
Do you want to dive into the world of tropical animals? Tropicarium gives you that opportunity! Here, you can observe colorful birds, playful monkeys, and cool reptiles. With the wind in your hair and a big smile on your face, you'll feel like you're in a real jungle party!
And are you ready to meet the predators? Tigers, lions, cheetahs - these amazing creatures will show you what they're capable of. You can witness their greatness and beauty up close! It's truly awe-inspiring!
Afterwards, you'll find yourself in the aquarium, where you can fully immerse yourself in the underwater world. You'll be surrounded by dazzling fish, corals, and, of course, sharks! Get ready for some excitement and discover the wonders of the sea!
Tropicarium Park not only offers an incredible variety of animals but also likes to kids. They'll absolutely love it here! It's a fantastic place for a family day out, where children can learn and have fun at the same time.

Horrible aquarium. I was not able too buy tickets online as the checkout wasn’t working. Had to wait in the line for about 75 minutes. We paid 50 Euros for two adults and one child. The worst part was the aquarium itself. The building looked like an abandoned place, with very narrow hallways. It was one traffic jam of people, from the start till the end. No places for food/drinks, no staff. The most shocking part was that there were only turtles, iguanas, lizards, 3 pinguïns and a couple of snakes. And all of them in very narrow lofts. I don’t understand why this place is still open.
Richard Tieleman — Google review
It's good for a rainy day if you're staying in one of the campsites. If you're in Union Lido take the number 5 bus to Lido de Jesolo and get off at Plaza Brescia. Tropicarium is across the road. Make sure and have your tickets booked in advance. Get the add on for the science centre it is definitely worth it.
Exhibits were good but it can be hard to spot some of the reptiles naturally enough. Best part were the sharks and crocodiles which are in a separate building (out the exit and turn left down the ramp). Can be a bit confusing about the route to follow as the exhibits are all kind of in a hallway around an arena (there was a JuJitsu tournament going on). Good way to spend 90 minutes.
Would have liked perhaps a café of some sort as in May there isn't much around the locale. We had to go back to the campsite to get something to eat.

This Tropicarium is fine, the children enjoyed it but in my opinion it is not very good for the price you pay. It is in two buildings divided into three parts. There are many turtles, some fish, snakes, reptiles, butterflies, sharks even penguins. I had visited better tropicariums before.

Great place to bring young kids. A lot of tropical animals to see there. Some parts were really hot while in others, AC was going to freeze you. One ⭐ 👎 due to size of the tanks for 🦈 and 🐊. That was just way too small for them. We checked the busy times and decided to come on Thursday and there were not many people there.

Wonderful park with many different animals from all over the world.
There are 3 different areas / buildings from reptiles 🦎 to predators like huge Nile crocodile to sharks 🦈 and a aquarium.
We have parked the car near by to a private parking (different owner) maybe in future Tropicarium Park considers to build up also an own parking place...
From this park you can easily get to Lido di Jesolo beaches or you can find restaurants.
The most attractive (for us) were: the penguins 🐧, the butterfly 🦋 collection where you can enter into them natural habit, crocodiles 🐊 and sharks.
It would be a great idea to expand the habit locations for some predators...
The Libreria Acqua Alta is a strange and beautiful bookstore in Venice which is often advertised as the most picturesque bookstore in the world. The store protects books by keeping them lying in boats and barrels, and it has a very unique atmosphere.
Super unique bookstore! I am not going to repeat the obvious but if you want to get some cute cat postcards in different sizes, you can definitely find some here. It's a nice way to help out the bookstore since I assume a lot of the books are for decoration purpose only. You can also take a picture on the gondola at the back of the store. Donations are welcome. Lots of tourists during high season. But the store lady was still being very patient while directing traffic in a crowded and hot bookstore. Definitely one of those places you should visit at least once. (July 2022)

The bookstore is pretty cool in and of itself. Unfortunately, it is also very busy with tourists, so they have to rush you through and it is very difficult to browse. It would be best to go during off-peak hours if you want to look at the books.
If you're just there to see the bathtub and gondola full of books, and climb the staircase made of books, and just enjoy stacks of books, then anytime is probably good.

This is well known as the prettiest and most Instagrammable bookstore in Venice! I personally thought this was a really cool bookstore.
There were a lot of books, no space was spared. Many decorations were marine related.
Good place to buy Venice postcards, bookmarks or souvenirs too. There were many designs, prices were reasonable too.
At the back of the bookshop, one can enter the canal directly. It was really cool to see gondolas rowing past the bookshop.
Due to its popularity, be prepared for the crowd. There were signs warning people of pickpockets so do take note of that.

Review of Libreria Acqua Alta - A Quirky Literary Haven in Venice
Venturing from London to Venice, I was intrigued by the city’s cultural gems, and Libreria Acqua Alta, a renowned bookshop, was high on my list of places to explore.
Pros:
Libreria Acqua Alta’s unconventional ambiance immediately caught my attention. The books, stacked in bathtubs, crates, and even a converted gondola staircase, created a captivating maze of literary wonders. Each corner held a promise of hidden gems, making the experience akin to a literary treasure hunt.
The shop’s embrace of Venice’s aquatic setting was evident, with books creatively incorporated to form benches and steps that led to a charming canal-side reading corner. It offered a unique glimpse into the city’s soul, with books and water intertwined harmoniously.
Cons:
Due to its popularity, the shop can get quite crowded during peak tourist seasons. Maneuvering through the narrow passages amidst fellow visitors can be a tad overwhelming, particularly for those seeking a tranquil reading environment.
For travelers with mobility concerns, the uneven surfaces and tight walkways might pose challenges. Navigating the layout may require extra caution.
In essence, Libreria Acqua Alta promises an unmatched and memorable experience for book aficionados. Its imaginative arrangement of books and its reflection of Venice’s essence make it an exceptional stop for any visitor. Just be prepared for the bustling atmosphere and allow yourself the time to immerse in the shop’s distinctive charm.

I’ve wanted to visit this place for a long time so it was high on my list during my Venice trip! The shop is easy to find and really feels quite magical.
There is a rule that you must carry backpacks in your hand, not on the back. They are strict about this and it makes sense because the shop and the layout is very narrow, and you could damage the books easily. Even worse when the shop is busy and there are lots of people trying to squeeze through.
The famous book stairs are at the back, with a view over the gondola which you can sit in for a photo. During my visit the gondola and some part of the shop was actually not accessible without water shoes since the water was so high! So don’t be disappointed if your timing is unfortunate. I thought it was amazing so I didn’t mind but I know some people will be sad to miss the photo opportunity.
There are so many books and I was surprised to see they even have some sections of English and French books, maybe other languages too. They also have very cute children’s books in several languages. I was able to meet one of the shop cats, and I bought some souvenirs here. They have a lovely selection of magnets, bookmarks, notebooks and other gifts, which was great since i did not have baggage room for a book.

Super unique book shop to visit while a guest in Venice. Hidden away, but this gem is full of charm and features the iconic stairs (made of older, damaged books) around the back of the shop which leads to a cool view.

I believe this book store is one of the kind in the world, so many YouTube videos in many languages that introduces this unique book store!
We also came to stamp our visit while we are in Venezia!
It is crowded all day long, the owner is constantly ask visitors to move along because everyone wants to have lots photos taken by the “Book staircase” in the backyard. That create a traffic jams!
Lots of small gifts items that you can purchase to keep this unique store at flow!

Such a great spot! Beware, it is pretty crowded in a very small space. It was still worth the visit! I bought a cute watercolor postcard and of course took photos at all their photo spots. Be sure to get all 3 photos ops! 1. Out back on the stack of books! (Peel over the side to see the canals. 2. By the side door there are stacks of books in a narrow alley 3. They have a gondola parked on the back door! Save your €80 and just sit in this boat for your Venice photo op!

This lovely cute book store has not become only a tourist attraction with witty ideas and decor, but is also a very good book shot, where each person is welcome, and taken care despite crowd. I visited it just before my departure and was short of time, nevertheless they helped me to choose a good book, introduced me to their utterly serious cat Dominique and gave me even presents. That was very heart warming before the long travel.

This bookstore is a very cute and kind of hidden bookstore. Pretty nice to go inside, lots of books to look through. They sell souvenir canvas bags and t-shirts as well. Very tight space inside, there can be lines to take photos of the book staircase. In the middle of the store is a gondola packed with books, so don’t miss that. On your way out, head out the side entrance, and there will be another photo opportunity there. The visit won’t take more than around 15-20 minutes, really depends on your browsing speed.

Lovely small library packed to the brim with books. Really like the exposed brick and ground through the premises which gives an old and humble vibe to the place. Out the back they have created a staircase of books where you can step off and look at the canals over the wall. They also created walls of books outside the premises. Well worth a visit for a couple of minutes. Great free activity in the city

I really wanted to visit this bookstore, but I was sorely disappointed. On the one hand, it is a historic bookstore, but on the other, there are only crowds of people and employees who immediately warn you when you stop. How then is a person supposed to view something and therefore buy it? I know, that a lot of people there want only to see this bookstore, but I wanted something beautiful as a souvenir, but unfortunately there was no time for it. Once is enough.
Lukáš Jirásko — Google review
I adore visiting bookstores, and this one is described as "the most beautiful bookstore in the world", however it seems like it appears in every what to do in Venice list you can find and as a result, it might as well he the busiest bookstore in the world. The crowds of people in this tiny space, even in December, made it impossible to enjoy browsing. Of course, everywhere in Venice can get quite busy, and it's just a fact of life there, but for those that actually intend to look at the books, beware busy times! Staff should consider enforcing a capacity for safety and health reasons- or to at least make browsing their books enjoyable for those that care to do so. We did enjoy seeing the cats though!

An amazing experience inside and outside the place. People there are so helpful and kind. You have to take off your backpack if you are going inside to avoid hitting books. The place is so crowded with people at all times. They have a gondola at the end of the tour to have a picture while you are in it and on the other side there are some old books that serve as stairs also for nice pictures. Highly recommended for book lovers

Yes it is kind of a tourist trap but just know going in nobody no tourists that I know of is really there looking for a book. They just want to see. You know everything there and book steps in the bag and the the gondola you can get on. So just know that you might have a line for the gondola to get on and take a picture. Just be aware of the instagrammers they'll be there and they might be on there extra extra long. But hey they wait in line so just know that people are tend to be kind of friendly. If your buyer yourself your solo traveler and you want somebody to take a picture for you, they'll do that. Or if you're a couple and somebody, hey you know. Can you take the pictures? They'll do it and a lot of times. They'll ask you a in advance so just know that it's kind of tourist trap. You really not going to go look for books. People that I know aren't but it's worth going to see because you hear so much about it. But if you don't see it, it's not a deal breaker either

A very cute old book store that looked like a fairy tale shop. It's small and crowded with tourist, but it's very cute inside. The owner sells many cute post cards with their cat as the model (The black cat, i'm not sure it's theirs but it looks like it). It's free to enter but it's better to buy something if you're visiting. Dogs are not allowed since they have cat.

A very magical place for bookworms & explorers! This bookstore is a very unique place with all kind of books (comics, novels, drama, thriller - you name it). You will highly likely find a book in every language! They have great photo opportunities including a floating gondola! The book garden is fantastic too and absolutely worth it!
It can become quite crowded but the store is very big. I would recommend to go there early in the morning. The staff was super friendly. Additionally, you can find all sorts of venetian souvenirs and LOTS of cats in the store!
Definitely a must-check-out!

This is one of the most sought after places to visit in Venice and for a reason. This library is uniquely designed and has the Venetian boat theme. You'd see iconic books stacked in a long Venetian boat and that is definitely appealing. The only thing that I thought was missing is english language books. Didn't find many.
Diwakar Gandhi — Google review
Beautiful bookshop! They sell so many books and you can find notebooks, magnets and postcards! Just a shame they don't have more books in foreign languages (mostly all Italian books).
Make sure to go during quiet times of the day (morning for example) as the shop is pretty narrow and it's difficult to move around if there are a few other people inside.

A unique place to visit while you’re in Venice. Stacks and stacks of books organized in a unique way, a long with souvenirs and others.
Great experience we had there and I recommend it for those who gonna visit Venice and want to discover what those narrow alleys contains.

Its a nice place, but honestly i didnt find it amazing. Yes it has quite a few old books but you dont get a chance to scan and buy as you are in que led throughout. It seems very touristy and rushed and the main point of the journey is pile of wet books which are a staircase and you walk over it, which i found a bit weird. There are many more nicer libraries in other cities where you get to read and enjoy the presence of books compared to this.
Leo Johns — Google review
Good place for book lovers and for those who are too poor to go on the Gondola. You can take a free picture sitting in the Gondola inside the library. Make sure you turn right and do not go all the way to the end or you would have missed it. It is a way one system which means you have to go around again.

A beautiful book shop..some books are in bathtubs or a gondala due to flooding. Lots of lovely reproduction pictures and prints to buy along with fancy fridge magnets, postcards and book marks. There are cat guardians there but today they were off doing cat things.

Unfussy rooms & ornate suites in an elegant hotel offering a wine bar & free breakfast.
My husband and I enjoyed our recent stay at this beautiful hotel. We stayed in the "junior suite view on the bridge of sighs" room and the view was amazing! The pictures are taken from two of the balconies in the room.
The location and service was great too. Grazie, Rafael, for the great breakfast service!
I recommend booking water taxis through the hotel so you get dropped off in front of the lobby.

The hotel has the perfect location for exploring the must-sees of Venice. We stayed at the Junior Suite with Ponte dei Sospiri view and we highly recommend it. Great view and you start experiencing Venice in your room with this view of canals, gondolas, bridges, crowds, sounds etc. Breakfast is served in the room and elevates the experience to a new level thanks to amazing service by Rafaelle. Just open the balcony doors, position the table in front and have Rafaelle set up your breakfast. The same set up would cost you thousands of Euros in luxury hotels. You can arrive to and leave the hotel from its private dock via water-taxi. And the hotel staff arranges all for you. Last but not the least, the price is very reasonable for all its advantages.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Venice very close to Piazza San Marco. Beautiful, spacious rooms with views of the streets below and canal. Very friendly and helpful staff who go above and beyond to help. Breakfast is still in the room at your desired time, which was very nice. I would highly recommend. We very much enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was in a great location. The staff were mostly helpful but the thing that made it a great stay was Rafael who absolutely spoilt us and was so very helpful when we needed advice. He is probably the best hotel staff member we have had the pleasure to meet.

nothing to say more about.. beautiful, outstanding service. close to every where you need to see such as grand channel, central, luxury shops, food and drinks, gondolas.. We loved the hotel Al Ponte dei Sospiri. Fully recommended.

Great hotel. Quaint, small, friendly staff. Location couldn't be better surrounded by great restaurants.
Rafaelle brought room service everyday... my god, what a happy fella! puts you in a good mood even if you aren't, yet.
I would def. recommend this place to anyone.

One of the best hotels I have ever been so far. Not because of luxury or something like that, but because Venice is extraordinary place on earth and the right choice of hotel can allow you to enjoy the spirit of this place much better. An ancient house, with well-equipped rooms, beside canal, few steps to St. Mark, just beside Doge's Palace. Yes, you will pay more, but it worth it. You have to drive there by boat directly from airport, and you will feel like movie star. Inside of the hotel is everything so Venetian. The breakfasts are biggest thing there. The hotel has no restaurant, and breakfast has been served directly in your room. Moreover, if you want, in your bed. Signore Raffaele, who did this service, is huge professional. Mr. Raffaele, you upgraded our stay in Venice, as minimum two times. Thank you!

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and nice. It's near to restaurants and attractions points. The only downside is we can hear muffled sound from the street from our room.
Nelson Yap — Google review
Hotel Al Ponte dei Sospiri is in a wonderful location and our room (Room 150) had a fabulous view down the Rio Del Palazzo canal towards the Bridge of Sighs. From our small, private balcony, we witnessed marriage proposals, wedding photo shoots, and epic people watching on the baroque style bridge below, while singing gondolas glided happy tourists through the turquoise waterway.
The hotel is clean and modern while our room itself was beautifully decorated in green and gold fabric with a massive Murano glass chandelier hanging from a high, rustic wood plank ceiling.
The staff were great, greeting us with a bottle of Prosecco chilling in our room upon arrival. The front desk team made numerous reservations for us, and Rafaele, possibly the most joyful human I have ever met, delivered breakfast to us every morning. A great way to start each day.
The hotel is close to all of the major sites (Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Basillica/Square, Grand Canal, etc) and the food and wine choices are endless.
Lovely spot. Highly recommend.

I echo the previous review. The location, beauty of the room, and breakfast delivered daily making your stay so pleasant. My favourite part was seeing Raphael’s smile with his amazing service every morning. I didn’t give 5 stars because the corridors do not have AC and smell !

If you are planning to sweat while sleeping come to this hotel. They centerly control the AC so that it doesn't go below 27 degrees. We called them more than once, but they simply don't care. The choice is yours, but definitely I wouldn't come here again. Such a pity as location is excellent staff lovely and rooms clean and spacious

The value you get at this hotel for the price is amazing. The location, beauty of the room, and amazing breakfast delivered daily were a true luxury. Raphael made our stay very fun with his amazing service and great smile every morning. Would come back in a heartbeat!
The Church of San Giorgio Maggiore is a baroque-style church built by Andrea Palladio in 1566. It was later renovated and expanded by Vincenzo Scamozzi in 1610. The church has two temple fronts superimposed on each other, making it stand out amongst the others.
A beautiful church with breathtaking views of the main city of Venice. The views from the Tower are magical. We had no lines on the day we visited and very few people at the top of the Tower. Great place to take photos and enjoy the views of the entire city. The church itself it just beautiful. The paintings, alter, wood work is just awe inspiring. This church is a must when visiting Venice. No charge to enter the church, but a fee to go up into the tower and they only accept cash.
Michael Mack — Google review
One of my favourites in Venice. A short ride on Line 2 will get you to S. Giorgio stop. I recommend walking around the courtyard. It's beautiful. The interior of the church was under repair during our visit. The view from the top of the bell tower is absolutely stunning. It will cost you 8 euros to get up there.
Note: The entrance for the bell tower is INSIDE the church. Once entered, keep left and just follow the path and you will see it. (July 2022)

Nestled serenely in the heart of Venice, San Giorgio Maggiore stands as a testament to timeless beauty and architectural grandeur. As you approach by boat, its elegant facade captivates, framed by the azure waters of the Venetian lagoon. Stepping onto the island, you're transported to a realm of tranquility, away from the bustling crowds of St. Mark's Square. The church's interior is a symphony of light and shadow, adorned with exquisite artwork and intricate marble details. Ascend the bell tower for panoramic views of Venice's iconic skyline, a sight that etches itself into your memory, beckoning you to return to this enchanting oasis. Even I added some photos related to an artist's.
Pezhman Rajabimehr — Google review
Best view of Venice, over the water. Nice and quiet, much quieter than the tower in San Marco square, but you need to get a quick boat ride over to the island first - great if you already have a day pass, but an expensive €7.50 euro for a 3 min boat ride (one way).
Still highly recommend a visit, especially if you're into church architecture.
It's now €8 which must be a recent increase as other reviews say €6
Ian Friend — Google review
You can only get here by boat. There is an extra fee to climb up the tower, superb views of the city and the lagoon, not as packed as expected. The famous Palladian church in bright marble and the rest of the island is a must when in Venice, or a good reason to go back!

Such a lovely view from the bell tower. You can see other islands near to this from there.
Visiting church is free but going up with lift will cost €8 but is worth it.

A beautiful church with a breathtaking panaroma view on the bell tower. I would highly recommend visiting. Tickets for the bell tower cannot be puchased online and are only available in person, but there it is quick and easy to buy. There are also great views of Saint Mark's square from the island, and small gardens and art galleries that are free to visit.

The first view we see from St. Marco square and tower is this wonderful abbey. You can easily get here by line 2 vaporetto from St. Marco square or on the way from the Grand Channel to St. Marco.
The abbey is free of charge to visit, you need to buy a ticket only if you want to get to the top of the tower.
There is a small and cosy marina for sailing boats next to the Abbey, as well as sailing club and school.
Besides this the island's territory is closed for tourists and maybe that's why normally there are not so many people here.
Valentyna Pliushch — Google review
Beautiful to sit on the edge of the city and see the church on the other side. Interesting as a group of teenagers dressed in very extravagant clothing sailed away from the island but left a distraught looking friend behind as another jumped into the water and chased after them. Leader of the group wearing an interesting suit made with zippers. They all seemed very preoccupied.
shawn justesen — Google review
The best kept secret in Venice. A quick vaporetto ride across the lagoon puts you in one of the most beautiful churches in Venice and the actual best campanile view of the city. Almost no crowd and no line for the campanile whatsoever in the morning. Better view than the campanile in the main square. Bring cash for the campanile if you plan to go up.
Bryan Jacobs — Google review
Basically is the only think you can visit on the island, for the other ones you need to book in advance. Going in the tower worth every penny, 8 euros cash only. Great view of all Venice and especially San Marco. Is not crowded, and it is only one stop from San Marco. Strongly recommend!
Victor Dumitriu — Google review
Amazing view, not crowded, and you can see a lot of famous paintings by Tintoretto

Interesting interior in two part. 1) That huge crown of thorns 2) The painting maybe with the last dinner in a different perspective.
Visiting the tower is with entrance fee. Others were free luckily.

Well, the bell tower was closed. Guess I should’ve checked that since that is why I paid the €9,5 water bus fare to come over here. It is closed until at least Oct 28 for repairs. My bad. The church was nice. Nice building and nice inside but no bell tower. Definitely tainted my visit. Pretty view of San Marco piazza.

The Doge's Palace is a labyrinthine Venetian Gothic palace built in the early 14th century by architect Filippo Calendario. The palace is full of lavish Venetian Gothic opulence, as well as citys history and intrigue.
It’s worth visiting it especially with a guided tour as there is so much history gathered in this stunning Palace! Majestic and numerous chambers, magnificent paintings, including the biggest painting in Europe - ‘Paradise’ located in the Chamber of the Great Council, golden ceilings - these are only some of the treasures you will see during your visit! We visited also the prison and saw the Bridge of Sighs.
Nora Emilova — Google review
On the pricey side for what you get but it is Venice so everything comes at a premium. Enough things to see and admire to keep you entertained for a couple of hours or longer.
Good insight into life when the Palace was fully functioning. I enjoyed it but will not be one for all the family, certainly not at the price. If you like art it is recommended.
Some nice views from the top too.

A brilliant place to visit! Personally, I enjoyed this more than St Marks Basilica. Outstanding art and architecture, the whole place is steeped in history. Some of the rooms and the scale of them will take your breath away. A must see when visiting Venice. Tip: we got a skip the line and guided tour. It was well worth it, we spent zero time waiting and the tour brought the place alive.
Chris A — Google review
Beautiful experience of a lifetime. The decorated rooms with awe inspiring paintings on ceilings and walls made it special. It reminded us of Indian palaces or French Versailles beauty. It was crowded but if you get advanced skip line it’s very smooth and no waits. The bridge of sighs is nice touch to the visit which is both sad and provides one of best views of Venice in addition to the armory rooms which also have fabulous views of Venice. We skipped the basilica next door which had nightmare lines and don’t regret coming this way instead.
Enjoy.

A wonderful palace full of rich history!
You can buy your tickets day of, but you will be stuck in a line to be able to get inside.
The palace is wonderful, and the walls have stories of how it all came to be and how the role of the Doge was handled throughout time. You explore the halls and rooms within the building, along with the connected prison chamber and pass through the inside of the sigh bridge.
Overall a good experience, and one item as a must do while in Venice!
Hernan Hernandez — Google review
We went here in mid January on a Monday morning - no lines for tickets, no lines anywhere! The palace was so cool to see and it really gets you thinking about the wealth they had hundreds of years ago to be able to have such ornate rooms and ceilings. We skipped the audio tour as we just wanted to look around. Awesome architecture. The prison was really creepy. It was almost like being outdoors with how cold it was, so even though going up (and down) the sometimes steep or uneven stairs got our heart rate up, we kept our coats on. I enjoyed seeing the historic Bridge of Sighs--from the inside out! They don't allow backpacks so be prepared to check yours. There are tons and tons of stairs as you follow the pathway through the building so you will get lots of steps in.
Reesa Nelson — Google review
The ticket price is outrageously high, and we definitely had a visit experience that was not worth the price. We despite choosing a less crowded period in Venice and purchasing tickets in advance with a specific time slot, the palace was still crowded. This can only mean they are selling too many tickets without considering visitors' experience.
The first and longest part of your visit is a dull exhibition about the palace and the Venetian dukes. If you know nothing about Venice Palace and Dukes, the exhibition might be interesting, but if you have even a bit of knowledge, it will feel boring. The rooms they prepared for this exhibition are specially designed to close off the palace, with walls covered in burgundy plaster and ceilings covered with nets, giving no sense of being inside a palace. We thought the whole visit would be like this, and we felt disappointed.
In the second part, you get to see the grand palace rooms and halls. The rooms are truly beautiful with their magnificent ceilings and walls adorned with paintings.
The third part involves visiting the prison by crossing the Bridge of Sighs. It's an empty and boring walk. You only see prison cells.
In short, you pay an exorbitant fee to see a few rooms and halls of the palace amidst a crowded mass of people. I definitely don't think it's worth it.
Murat Yıkılmaz — Google review
Amazing place. Extremely well preserved paintings (though some were replaced by copies, the originals taken to the Louvre...), impressive interiors, some interesting collections of Venetian armour, and temporary exhibitions. Also, the prison part of the Palace is well worth a visit in itself, with its Bridge of Sighs, of course. The visit would take at least two hours.
Anastasia An — Google review
The amazing wealth of the Venetian city state is on full display in this museum. Much of it must be seen in person to appreciate the scale and mastery. This is a must see experience if you travel to Venice. There is so much history behind every piece of art work and artifact. You can spend many hours going through them. There are also guided tours offered by local guides, who can give you in depth history lessons.
James Zhang — Google review
Amazing scale and sumptuous style make the Palace a must visit, if you are in Venice. Only marked down from 5 stars as, however awe inspiring, the religiously oriented paintings and decorations left me with a feeling of a heavy grimness rather than light and glory.
Queued for approx 40 mins to get in, though that was my fault for not trying to book until too close to the day.
Richard Porter — Google review
Get the ticket to tour the palace from the inside. Definitely book ahead online otherwise you will find yourself in a line stretching for hours, regardless of the season. Fascinating history and unique style of Venetian architecture that is quite different from other parts of Italy. Some awesome giant rooms that housed the Venetian governing apparatus, and you can see how the layouts relate to the well-known facade outside.

Beautiful palace. I'd spring for 4 museums in a visit. Each floor is very different from the next. Completely worth it. My photos don't do it justice. Visited in late November so got right in. The normal queue lines were beside us and you can see where it's normally out the door when people go in season so beware 😲

A must see. Absolutely stunning opulent palace. Very golden. Tickets are 25€ if booked 30 days prior. 30€ if book within 30 days. Opening time vary with season. For winter 2024 is 9:00- 18:00. It is wheel chair accessible. Opened every day. This is definitely a very popular attraction so must be crowded on peak season.
carine — Google review
A truly amazing building. The large rooms filled with paintings and gold leaf are breathtaking. Paintings by some true greats including Titian. The tour around the building has lots of information to guide you through how the palace was used and what the Doge was. Then the journey takes you to the prison part of the building (including crossing the bridge of sighs.) This section is very different but equally fascinating. You get a proper look in all the cells and the long creepy corridors are very atmospheric (we chose the longer route around the prison, and we definitely feel like that was the better option for a more in-depth look.)
The tickets are expensive (€30 each if you buy on the day) but it’s clear that the money is being spent on constant restoration work and maintaining the incredible art and architecture. We queued up on the day for tickets and only queued for 5 minutes - this was in early January though so I would recommend buying in advance if you’re visiting later in the year.
There is a cafe but everything was very expensive even compared to the prices in the rest of San Marco’s square, so we didn’t end up buying anything there.
There was the option to pay extra for an audio guide but we opted to read the information boards for free and still felt that we learnt a great deal around the palace.
Overall an amazing excursion - do leave a good few hours to get around everything with plenty of time to read the information and take your time looking at the artwork.

Exquisite ceiling work 🥰!! they’ve preserved the state of the prisons which is incredible…The finesse of the paintings are just🥰 we were lucky to visit during the night hours as it was open till 10pm on this particular day and I feel the lighting added a different charm to the art work..
I however feel that the place can be better maintained for the price they charge for entry.
Having said that, it’s definitely a must visit when visiting Venice !!

Outstanding beauty, absolutely worth a visit. The path is marked by the ropes so it's easy to go through it without missing anything and getting lost. Absolutely gorgeous, can’t be put into words. Highly recommend—this is a must when visiting venice. the architecture is wonderful, the history is extremely interesting and the rooms will put you in awe. Paris has nothing on this, this is the most impressive destination! i highly recommend doing a tour to skip the long lines and learn about each room.

The Palace is a stunning piece of art located right next to the Basilica. When you start the tour you see the amount of effort that they put into making this palace. Words can’t really describe how it looks inside and nor can pictures do justice. Each room is grand!!! When you go on the tour read the signs that they posted. It gives you a thorough explanation of the palace. By the end of it, you realize this place was used for making decisions for the community and bringing law and order to the people. I really felt that the Venetians try to create a Fair method of justice. Funny because their checks and balances system was brought to the United States. That’s what our tour guide said. Overall, it’s amazing and leaves you speechless.

Would come again any time, great place with lots of great art. We used a tour guide that didn’t offer much time. One hour was barely enough. The museum doesn’t have air conditioning which in summer makes it unbearable to visit it in some places. They have a cafe and toilets with a long queue in front of them.

Really enjoyed this visit
I would recommend booking a timed ticket on line or queuing up early for a ticket and going back later in the day.
I wouldn’t bother with audio guide. It’s €5 each (cash) but you need to leave your passport or drivers license so that you don’t run off with the device. The audio guide does not cover everything. There are plenty of written explanations in many languages.
The cafe is really good.
I would recommend the long tour around the prison.

Wonderful tour. The entrance fee is not cheap, but it's well worth it - you get a great insight into Venice history, see stunning art and architecture, walk through the chilling prison, and literally get to walk across the iconic Bridge of Sighs. We were here in October and happily avoided the crowds - if coming in peak times you might want to pay extra to minimise long wait times.

Interesting place. Very pretty artwork. Go with a tour and you can skip the line. highly recommend . Randomly, it had a shared bathroom for men and women. It was fine as each stall was it's own room. I just found it hilarious that they had a Nona standing at the door making sure you used the "right" stall. I asked my husband and his stall was just a toilet as well. cracked me up that she was so diligent about keeping everyone in line, lol. At least there were 3 female and 2 male stalls!

The queue wasn’t very long (we went there at 3pm on a Wednesday) but it was extremely crowded inside, we basically followed a line of people from start to finish and the whole experience lasted about 90 minutes. Despite all this it was still enjoyable and the architectural details, the painting and ceilings were stunning. I highly recommend buying tickets online a few weeks in advance. We overheard several people saying they wouldn’t be able to go inside because they weren’t selling any more tickets.

A really interesting building and great to walk around. If you like painted ceilings, you’re in for a treat! We waited outside in the general queue for probably around 20 minutes, so I’d recommend buying a ticket in advance because we didn’t go at a hugely busy time of day (around 4pm).

The paintings and ceilings are breathtaking, they are ginormous. We went with a tour group and it was not too crowded. There are not many places to sit down inside and there are many stairs.
Samantha Baldyga — Google review
I recommend booking a tour as the queue for ticket entrance is insane. With a group tour, the waiting time is minimal. Also, with the rich history, it is impossible, at least for me, to make sense and appreciate the grandeur. I am amazed how the Venetian, as a relatively small power in terms of numbers is able to do so much.
If you want to be on the Bridge of Sighs, then need to go in through the Doge’s Palace.

We went on a Thursday evening around 5 pm and it was mostly empty and we were able to visit without waiting. That said, the palace is huge and if you want to spend time observing the art, you may want to go earlier.

Excellent museum. Fine attention to history as each display in 4 languages. Extensive history at each display and very well done. The building is incredible inside and well worth the fee to visit. The armory halls especially piqued my interest. Excellent display. Would definitely visit again. I did a self guided tour but the audio tour would’ve probably been helpful. Excellent indeed.

An absolutely beautiful palace for the Duke of Venice. The first floor is not exactly all that appealing, but once you get into the "chambers", you will be surrounded by golden ceilings and oil paintings everywhere. In the largest room of the palace, you will find "Paradise", the world's largest oil painting. I think it is a very bad idea to build a prison in the Duke's palace, but it seems to have worked out for them. Located in a great place in the San Marco plaza, and next to the Basilica di San Marco and the end of the Grand Canal.

Must visit to appreciate the symbol of the wealth and splendor of this once great maritime republic. You can actually walk through the famous Bridge of Sighs and visit the new prison across the canal after you see the beautiful gilded halls and stairways of the palace. I would recommend visiting it in wintertime when you can actually take nice pix without huge crowds.

We had to buy tickets online. Ticket queue was very long.
A must visit place, if you are interested in history and art. It has amazing paintings all over the place depicting moment of history and mythology. It has good collection of weapons and armors from that time. You can take pictures inside.
Considering everything, we bought €30 ticket which includes 3 museums including skip-the-line entry to the palace. Other included museums are (Culture and Archeology) are on other side of St. Marcs Square and very close by.
The Basilica di San Marco is a spectacular cathedral located in the heart of Venice which is noted for its intricate mosaics and gilded interiors. It does not charge visitors for entry, but does have fees associated with accessing some of its attractions such as the St Mark's Museum, the Treasury and Pala d'Oro. This iconic building is a must-see on any visit to Venice.
Wow, what a place to visit. Highly recommended. The church/cathedral/basilica is absolutely beautiful. It‘s adorned with riches of gold, precious stones, mosaics, art work and sculptures that will astound you. It has to be on your list of things to see whilst in Venice. A tip is to get a skip the line guided tour, we did and we had no waiting at all and a superb guide that brought what we were seeing alive.

The place itself is gorgeous, but under renovation. To get in, its 3€ and most of the church is blocked off, including the seats and all of the side rooms. The entrance fee just lets you walk around the main room. If you want to go up to the tower its another 5€ and the museum is also an additional cost. I walked through it fairly quick as there was not much to see, and there was a big crowd the whole way

Stunning Basilica. We had to wait in line, but it moved quickly. Price was 3 euro per person to enter, but worth it. So beautiful inside. It was under construction outside and only limited areas you could go inside. We did not buy the museum pass to go upstairs and outside. The have restrictions on clothing to enter (womens shoulders must be covered as an example)

Arguably the most favourite building in Venice, it is always packed. So I joined a night tour and was glad that I did because it gave access to some off limited areas. It was also great that only 2 other groups were there at the same time. So I could really pay attention and learn about the history about the basilica. What a beautiful place. I still can't believe I was walking in it. (July 2022)

To preface, I visited in 2016 and it was with a tour group- so, I got to see most of the basilica and did not have to deal with any queues or weird pricing. As far as the basilica itself: stunning!! So much impressive craftsmanship in the building, and the artwork is awe inspiring. I did not go to the top towers, but even through some of the windows there were very impressive views. Of course it was crowded, like most similar areas, but I remember having a great experience because it was not enough to pull me out of the beauty. We even got to see some lower levels and a cell somewhere in the basement I believe. If I were to visit Venice again with my wife I would surely take her here!

A very beautiful basilica indeed! I’ve enjoyed the appearance of the exterior and interior the most. I would highly recommend buying tickets online to skip the line. I wouldn’t miss the roof, as it gave a beautiful view of the Piazza San Marco.
Jamila Saleh — Google review
Looks beautiful inside however there is an extra 5 euro charge to walk through the back of the church area getting a better view of some of the art. Also there is a 7 euro charge to go to the museum. It would have been nice to include everything as a bundle fee as opposed to paying when you get there.
Still a very impressive basilica and probably a must see in Venice so just keep in mind the extra costs if you plan on seeing everything here.
I also recommend picking up tickets earlier which will help save you some time when entering
Adrian Chang — Google review
You have 3 attractions in one here. There is the Basilica itself. Then you have to pay extra to see the golden alter screen it is also extra to go up to the Balcony outside and then extra again to visit the Museum. Also it cost extra to get an Audio guide. It is a gorgeous place to see. The mosaics are out of this world. They tell so many stories and the audio guide tells the history of them all. Truly breathtaking. Got the skip the line tickets and they were well worth it as queues can be quite long.

Stunning. A must go. Like every where in Venice it is very golden. Tickets are free in 2024. Opening hours is 9:30 - 17:15. Sunday Open to religious services. Visitors at 14:00 on Sunday.

Gorgeous church but we were not allowed to go inside the main part of the church because church was in session when we were on our tour. We could go inside the first door and walk around upstairs and outside on the top level for a nice view of the square.
Samantha Baldyga — Google review
I recommend buying the Basilica AND the museum/horses ticket as the ticket for the Basilica only does not allow you to go upstairs. We paid 6€ each for the 'skip-the-line' tickets including the entrance of the Basilica (3€ each). Adding the 3€ to skip the line was worth it. We then paid 7€ each to enter the museum and horses tour and we also thought it was worth it. The museum allows you to get closer to the ceilings mosaics and this alone is worth the add-on. The views of San Marco square from outside the basilica (balcony) is a nice bonus.

This is the largest square in Venice.
It’s a very crowded tourist attraction but still I loved being here. The popular St. Mark’s Basilica and the very iconic bell tower stand in this place. The other dominant building here is the Doge’s Palace.
All the buildings are very pretty. You need to stand in the middle of this square to really get the feel of the wonderful architecture around you. It’s a very lively and happy place (at least that’s the way I felt being here). Full of activity, iconic buildings and cheerful tourists.
It’s a great place to spend a few hours. There are quite a lot of restaurants, cafes and shops here which are nice but expensive (as is the case near any main tourist attraction).

This is my top 1 tourist place to go in Venice .Beautiful architecture it’s is absolutely flawless. I went on a tour and I loved the history of the Basilica. I recommend to buy tickets in advance to get in front of the line instead of waiting in the long line like I did. Very beautiful inside too. Tickets are 3€ and kids under 6 are free. Thank you for reading

Gorgeous church with a beautiful interior. Lines get long quick but move relatively quickly. Fee to enter the basilica, fee to see the gold alter piece in the apse, fee to see the upstairs/museum/rooftop so come prepared to shell out $$$. But I think they are all worth it especially the upper level/museum/rooftop. Free Rick Steves audio tour really opened the place up.
Bryan Jacobs — Google review
One of the main places to visit when in Venice. I would highly recommend showing up early in the morning during peak season (summer time), to make sure you don’t need to wait in a long queue. I arrived 45 mins before the doors opened, and was the first in line. Tickets are very inexpensive, which are mainly a donation to the Basilica, and the view from the second floor outdoor area gives an amazing view of the entire Square!
vartan bilawejian — Google review
I think the facade looks the best close to sunset. That's when the evening sun shines onto it, illuminating the mosaics on the facade.
As for visiting it, I'd recommend buying the tickets in advance. We arrived 30min before opening and ended up waiting for 45min to enter.
Definitely visit the Museum as well. You get to visit the terrace and see the original bronze horses.
Jie Bo Ti — Google review
3 euro entry and extra 5 to visit the alter and 7 extra to visit the museum itself. Prices are reasonable. Great views, architecture and priceless art work. It was a great experience to walk round and explore the basilica. Would recommend paying for the museum as this allows you upstairs and out onto the balcony for view at marks square and the condition of some of the art work is amazing. Cheap activity and worth a visit. You can book fast track tickets. We went around 11am and there was a long queue but we were in within 30min
Lee Rock — Google review
Well what can i say, it’s worth the hype, it’s worth the queues, it’s just gorgeous and magnificent. I will go out on a limb and say that this is the most magnificent Basilica as per me in Europe (and the list includes Saint Peter’s in Vatican). The church is covered in mosaic and it seems impossible to even imagine how they created the art. The museum along with the galleries give some of the best views in Venice and thus worth going in. If you take Rick Steve’s audioguides then you can easily spend a few hours admiring the glory of this Basilica.

St. Mark's Basilica is an architectural marvel that left me speechless. Its intricate mosaics, majestic domes, and rich history create an awe-inspiring experience. Stepping inside feels like I am going back in time and experiencing a conclave of beauty and spirituality. This is a must-visit in Venice that truly captures the essence of Italian craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

Beautiful building and rich in history. We did an organised tour and jumped the massive queue. Prepare to wait a long time if you don’t. The original four horses from Constantinople are the highlight for me.

St. Mark's Basilica Venice, the multi-domed church on St. Mark's Square, is one of Venice's main attractions and one of the most spectacular cathedrals in Italy.
At St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, you'll get a glimpse of a true embodiment of Venetian aesthetics.
St. Mark's Basilica Venice is an iconic symbol of Venice.
Originally intended as a private chapel for the Doge, the church has played an important role in the religious and political life of the city over the centuries.
The basilica was built to preserve the relics of Saint Mark the Evangelist, which had been stolen in Alexandria, Egypt. St. Mark's Basilica of Venice, also called the "Golden Church", is famous for the dominance of golden mosaics, which are a unique sight in the world of art.
Discover the priceless treasures kept in the basilica for the refinement of the mosaics .

The square makes an amazing impression in real life. It is very nicely lit, and the square itself has a very large open space, as in Venice, the streets are narrow. The basilica itself has a lot of decorations and drawings that delight. The whole thing is perfectly preserved and is truly a work of art. I highly recommend seeing it with your own eyes.

TICKETS! The biggest challenge with this monument is understanding where and how to purchase tickets. There is limited signage and information online to advise YOU CAN PAY AT THE DOOR and do NOT NEED skip the queue tickets. It’s €3per person to get in on the ground level to view the inside with an addition €7 per person via cash or card to walk upstairs and walk through both the museum and the outdoor viewing area over the square. I highly recommend this! On the hour the clock changes and the bell rings…an amazing sight to see…try to time your visit to over the hour change to experience this.
AC — Google review
This basilica is decorated by mosaic. The glittery yellow ones are 24k gold! The extravagance in building this is unbelievable. The hall is the lowest point in Venice and it is first to get flooded when waters come in.
St Mark’s body is also kept in this basilica.
Trotting Horse — Google review
You can go the fun way visiting this wonderful church by getting a tour and skipping the line or you can wait and wonder the story behind it. I would highly recommend getting a guide. definitely make sure you get to the terrace ( extra 14 euros) for the wonderful view of the clock tower and the square.

This is a especially beautiful Basilica. There is a little bit of a wait to get in, but it’s worth it to see the beauty inside. The architecture is beautiful and ornate. This is a must see if you were in Venice.
Dr. Richard Baker — Google review
We bought our tickets through Get Your Guide. Gia was amazing. She gave us incredible history and pointing out spectacular facts about the basilica. I highly recommend the 7€ hours/terrace add on. The views of the square are with it.
The Campanile di San Marco (or St. Marks Campanile) is a 12th century bell tower in Venice that offers stunning views of the Piazza San Marco. Climbing to the top provides an impressive perspective over the cityscape.
Got the 'skip-the-line' tickets for 12€ each, entrance is already 10€ so adding 2€ to skip the wait was worth it. Beautiful views of Venice (360 degrees views). Can be cold/windy up there, so I recommend to take a jacket. We stayed about 30 minutes, I would say to plan at least 15min to get a few photos.

Fantastic views over Venice, this is the tallest building around the island, you can't miss going up there to enjoy the breath taking views over Venice. It is best to go at sun set to enjoy the golden light over Venice. Of course you got to know you will be sharing spots with a lot of other tourists, but that's a normal thing for Venice. Staff was very polite and helpful.
Nadezhda Chileva — Google review
Beautiful tower in one of the most famous places in Italy.
I highly recommend going up to the tower - it is not very expensive, just 10 Euros and the waiting line is fast. But the view is stunning! Extremely beautiful.
Gleb Iankevich — Google review
I'd suggest visiting close to sunset. The crowds would have dissipated by then so you can just march up to get your tickets. Moreover, I think the lighting is ideal. It's soft enough for Piazza San Marco to bathe in the sunset but not harsh enough that it washes your photos. Perhaps the only downside is that it casts its shadow on Basilica San Marco.
See photos for what I mean.
Jie Bo Ti — Google review
A must see! I would advise you to book the tickets online as the queue can be quite long. The lift to go up is more modern than expected. The view from up there is the best you can ever get in Venice. I would definitely recommend it!!

Amazing view of Venice. We went on a Thursday in not so high touristic season and we found no queue. So I wouldn’t recommend to buy the ticket slip the line. There is an elevator and it is well organized.
Ilaria Martiradonna — Google review
Visit Campanile for an amazing view of Venice. You can have clear view of the Doge’s palace, canals, boats and the St. Marks square from this 100 m tall tower. Specially in the evening it looks great to have a sunset view or experience the lighting of the square.
Note: the ticket to the tower is not covered in the Museum ticket which allows you access to ~10 museums. And be careful of the bells ringing at every hour. They are very loud.
Ashish Kabra — Google review
10€ entrance fee and you get an amazing view of Venice. Depending on the time of day there might be a lot of people queuing up, but you take the elevator to reach the top and have an unobstructed view of the city, definitely a must-do!

Can get very busy, but the views are worth the wait. For less crowds and an arguably better view, head to San Giorgio's tower across the canal which also has an elevator.

One of the best places to visit in Venice. Sun set time is ideal. Book in advance and take the elevator to the top. The views from the top are just stunning and you can hang around there to soak in the beauty. We were there for around 50min and enjoyed views on each side, clicked pictures & videos to carry back fond memories!

The tallest building in Venice. Definitely must visit in Venice. I had skip the line tickets ordered in advance. You order them for exact time. Unfortunately I missed my water bus so I was late. Thankfully it was not an issue and the QR code on my ticket still let me in. I talked with my friend and they said that coming earlier was not a problem either. I guess it must be at the day, hour doesn't matter that much. I was happy to find out that there was an elevator going to the top. I don't have problems with sports, but it was crazy hot outside. The views from the top were amazing. I was lucky to have a great weather, too. You can see all important places from St. Mark's square from above.
Ján Dujčák — Google review
Very nice place, but extremely crowded. The view is stunning but I’m not sure it’s worth the 10+ €, considering you will probably be surrounded by tons of people. Still, quite the sight. If the weather is good, you might be able to see the Alps in the north. I strongly suggest getting the Venezia Unica pass to skip the long line.
Δημητρης Μπουκλας — Google review
Online skip the line tickets are EUR 12, and tickets at the counter for EUR 10. There will usually be a 5 min waiting. So choose what u prefer.
View from the top is breathtaking. Venice looks much more beautiful from up there.

Beautiful view to whole Venice. When the day is sunny photos from the tower are beautiful. The entrence price is 10e, the queue is 15 minutes, the elevator goes up, there is no time limit on how long you can stay on the tower, it is mandatory to wear a mask

Great place! We visited this and were not disappointed! The sights from the top were great, and the pictures from the bottom were great and iconic as well. Tickets were a reasonable price and it's definitely worth going to the top. It's one of the most iconic places in Venice, and I highly recommend visiting this.
Also, you may want to buy tickets earlier in the day, because there is a somewhat long wait depending on the time of year. We waited almost one hour.

The St. Mark's Campanile in Venice is an iconic landmark that offers a remarkable experience. Ascend to the top for stunning 360-degree views of the city, including the Grand Canal. The panoramic vistas are worth the climb, and the historical significance adds to the charm. A must-visit attraction in Venice!

Nice 360° views over Venice. Worth the ticket in my opinion. Binoculars are available for every direction. Unfortunately there is no possibility to take the stairs, only elevator access. There can also be a slight queue for the elevator down on a busy day.
Jere Toivonen — Google review
We walked by about 9:30am and there was no line really maybe 20 people so we walked up and got our ticket. €10 I think. Tight little elevator with an attendant. Nice view from the top. And don't forget to look UP at the bells too.
Gue Man — Google review
The views are really nice, but this attraction is extremely crowded. The entrance fee is 10 euros. We didn't have the best weather but If the weather is good, you could see really far away. Maybe even the Alps on the north side. I didn't have it, but would really use the Venezia Unica pass to skip the long line. If you come early in the morning probably at that time it will be less stuffed with tourists.

Book your ticket in advance and you can “cut” the line to the elevator. La Campanile di San Marco was the highlight of my trip to Venice. You can get a real sense of the size and beauty of Venice and the lagoon from the 360° views from the tower. Fairly priced and it is worth every cent!
James Paniagua — Google review
The Campanile was the highlight of my trip to Venice. The structure is incredible and stands proudly over the city.
You can go to the top and take it fantastic views of Venice. Well worth a visit!
William Whatley — Google review
Amazing views- you take an elevator- ZERO stairs which is refreshing! Great views from the top and you get to see the enormous bells as well. Definitely recommend- tickets are separate from those for the Basilica itself, so book a separate time. Also note- if it looks like the advance tickets are sold out for days and days it may be because the elevator is broken. Once it is fixed they'll open it back up for reservations.

This tower has its own beauty. The best thing about it is the mind blowing view of the city from the top of this tower. The tickets is really worth it 🤌🏻🦋❤️
Moreover the place makes it more beautiful at the time of sunrise or sunsets 🌅
Samidha Parmar — Google review
Definitely recommended for the great views of the Venetian sky line from the viewing platform at the top, accessed via lift only. queue was too bad when I was there but can see it been a longer wait during busy season. cost of entry to the tower was €10 per person.
Carl Bushby — Google review
Great view! ✅
Standing 98.6 meters (323 feet) tall, it is the tallest structure in Venice and is affectionately known as "el paròn de casa" (the master of the house)
Purpose: Originally designed as a watchtower to spot approaching ships and protect the entrance to the city, it also served as a landmark to guide Venetian ships safely into the harbor.
For breathtaking views of Venice, consider ascending the campanile and marveling at the cityscape from above! 🏰🌆

We went when this first opened with a pre ordered ticket, which was great. We could get right in. The line wasn't quite as long as it was for the basilica but it was still great to skip it. Great views of Venice from up top

It's worth the ticket, queue and crowd to be up at the top to experience the sunset - the moment when Venice turns into a literal golden city - and then capture a full moon with the changing colours of the sky. I'll like to explore a sunrise opportunity during my next visit.

Visited in March, bought tickets on line which were two euros more expensive each one than buying on site. Nice views although there was humidity, something common in Venice.
Andriana Lekka — Google review
Worth the 10 euros. I am not usually a fan of paying money to ride elevators, but this one is actually worth it. The best view of Venice from all angles, and magical at sunset.
Love that the viewing platform is enclosed by wire and not by windows, so you can peek in between for an unobstructed and clear view, and easily take photos.
It’s crowded but people move fast and you can always get to the spot you want if you just wait 2-3 minutes for others to vacate. Did not need fast pass ticket for a visit in December, waited maybe 15 minutes to go up near sunset.

The bell tower of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice is an iconic landmark. Rising above the square, it offers stunning views of the city and lagoon.
To access the bell tower of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, visitors typically need to purchase a ticket. The entrance is usually located on the ground level of the building or nearby. Once inside, visitors can take an elevator or climb the stairs to reach the top, where they can enjoy panoramic views of Venice and the surrounding area.
St. Mark's Square is a popular tourist destination in Venice, Italy due to its rich history and Venetian Renaissance architecture. The square is filled with cafes and shops, and it is often the site of large events such as concerts and festivals. St. Marks Basilica, one of the most iconic churches in Europe, is located at the center of the square.
Visited this place almost three years back while on the Europe trip. And was very excited to visit this place as I saw it many times in movies or documentaries. Reached the place through a ferry. The water colour was sea green and took almost 40 min to reach there. The first word when we reached there was wow. The place is absolutely awesome. It feels like a different world when we see surrounding. It was very crowded but still many things to see. We will get crowd every where but still place is very mesmerizing. At some place u can have fouling smell too. The flee market is also fascinating. The painting available for sale were really amazing. The restaurants were also on the edges where we can enjoy scenes and food.
Amazing place to visit.

Visited back in 2013. Super beautiful and just amazing!! It’s definitely a must visit if you plan on visiting Venice.
The square has so many beautiful shots to be taken from every angle.
From the square with the two pillars
From the church’s roof
Of the clock tower
And a stunning view of the water and St George’s church with some Gondolas in view.
It’s one of the most beautiful city centres in Europe. I completely recommend it.

The main square to visit in Venice. You can find St. Marks Basilica, Bell Tower and Clock Tower, and more.
Restaurants and retail shops all around the square, and a bunch of museums / galleries to visit. This place is usually full of tourists, so if you want to take some nice private photos / enjoy the quiet, I would recommend being at the square at 7-8am.
If the weather permits, a lot of the restaurants at the square will play live music in the patio area for everyone to enjoy.
I would say watch out for the tourists traps, you can find them all around the square.
vartan bilawejian — Google review
It's a magical place suffering from overcrowding so whatever part/place you want to visit, plan it properly way ahead or you'll end up in never-ending lines of similarly desperate tourists. Considering the basilica, the entrance fee is really cheap (3 euros) compared to the 30 for the Doge Palace. Inside the church I'd recommend to pay extra 7 euros (so 10 in total) to get in the museum of the San Marco Basilica on the first floor to get two amazing views: the mosaics in a very close detail and also access to the above entrance balcony for the best pics of the whole square. Sure, from the campanile you'll see further as way higher, but not so much of a detail of the buildings around...

Famous landmark in Venice. It is both lovely in daytime as well as during evening. At daytime, depending on the viewing angle and sunlight, it exposes the beauty, craftsmanship of the landmark. However, nighttime is a totally different experience with more relax, and vibrant. Live bands from different restaurants entertain guests. It is such an experience for visitors.

The most famous square of Venice which is surrounded by the most important attractions of the city. There is a wide variety of shops and restaurants around it that are worth mentioning. Better to leave them early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The projects that take place in the square lose something of its glamour.
We arrived around 10am and it was 36 degrees Celsius and the atmosphere stifling.

Unfortunately the weather was a bit rainy so not at it's best. There's works going on to raise the square level higher to help re water levels rising. But the charm of Venice was still there and we had a lovely gondola ride

I am stunned to see people able to rate this site with anything else than 5 stars! This is the very top of world's beauty, this site is a myth and it rises to match its reputation. I was fortunate enough to visit it several times, walking through the pigeons and listening to the piano by the terraces, and also passing by on a big cruise ship, taking photos that could well be taken for aereals.

One of the most amazing places in the world! The canals, churches and architecture is beyond spectacular. From street vendors to churches, every inch is beyond spectacular! Walking during the day is very exhilarating. But walking at night is filled with tranquility and a sense of serenity like no where else. Gondola rides are a must! Traveling by their boat bus system is very easy and inexpensive! You can walk along the canals for hours. Shops and restaurants are superb.

If a bell tower visit is chosen, a short wait for a €10 elevator trip to the bells at the top is required ,although for extra a queue jumping ticked can be bought. Waited about 10 minutes if that, for a spectacular 360 view over the whole of Venice. Fabulous.
