The nature reserve is perfect for a half day trip, I recommend you visit the place with bike or car (car parking available in front of the entrance to the park).
There is a building where you buy the ticket (we paid around 5 Euros) and a nice small Cafe with great views over the big lake.
The hike around the nature reserve takes around one hour, you will come across different viewing spots where you can observe the wild life in the lake (everything from birds and turtles to horses). Bring sunscreen, as you will be exposed to sun during the hike (also a bottle of water).
I visited with my girlfriend and we liked it a lot, it's not crowded, beautiful scenery and you can spot many animals!
Recommended to visit!

When you arrive in the area there ares different spots where to park. Maybe try to go further by car searching for the P of parking or even closer to the real entry. The price for the visit is 5€.
It's a nice place in the wild. We brought our dogs and it was fun to walk in the woods. During summer it looks less nice though because there are more mosquitos and mostly there's very little water (terrible this particular year) so also less birds and animals around. The landscape was very dry than usual.
My suggestion is to avoid summer to go and to bring a powerful camera or binoculars otherwise birds will be too far to be seen.
Along the path you will arrive at a crossroads. I suggest you to go for sure on the right to La foce dell'Isonzo because it's the path along that alongated land called Isola della Cona towards Punta spigolo. That land is 5 km long. We did half because the path looked always the same and with the dogs it was taking too tiring. You can observe there nice wild white horses.
Experience to try but quite problematic the drought this year: some areas were terribly dry.
Giulia Maffucci — Google review
A beautiful and peaceful place in nature. Many wild animals to see(mostly birds).
The infrastructure needs a little maintenance, but overall it's a lovely piece of wilderness.
In summer late evening there are many mosquito.

Nice walk, friendly horses, many birds

Extremely interesting natural reserve along river Isonzo, where Camargue horses rose free with herons on the back. You can easily see black-winged stilts and other swamp birds, kingfishers, marsh harriers..
Antonio Ippolito — Google review
i just recommend you getting a/your bike for the area. A great place to drive around with the family and have a daytrip in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. You’ll see lots of animals around however of course mainly birds. We saw lots of Nutrias too..
People living here are welcoming and friendly. All flat and with lots of ponds and water-streets along the ways.
Luca A — Google review
One of the best expreiences in bird watching and photography.
Zoran Vidrih — Google review
You can choose a longer or shorter route to visit the park. The shorter route is attractive, with many places for observing birds and Camargue horses. There is a lot of shade on the way, so visiting here on a hot summer day is not a problem.

Beautiful lakes! You can walk around them in 1.5h. Recommended to wear good shoes. Enough parking space, €4 per day.

Lovely place to chill and relax. The car parking to the lakes for the day cost €5 .. you can take your dogs and picnics with you. They have done nice benches to seat and enjoy the scenery.
If you need toilets they have some public portaloo toilets otherwise you can use the ones at the private places like restaurants. The lakes are walking distance. You can drive or arrive by bus but not sure how often is the bus to this place. They have a mini market inside where you can buy local cheese, salami, bread honey etc

This is a lovely place in Italy very close to the border with Austria. You could have a nice walk around the lake , or hiking in a more challenging trails around. Breathtaking views. Highly recommended.

Nice place for a day trip. In winter, hike trail covered with an ice and it is very slipery (hike crampons recomended)

Beautiful lakes.
You pay entrance fee 5e per car. Large parking at lake Superiore, several food options. Espresso for 1,5e.

Great place to visit if you are in the area of Tarvisio. These two alpine glacial lakes are awesome in winter, from the lower lake you can easily walk along the trail to the upper lake. You can access the upper lake with the car toll costs € 4,00.

Spectacular place! I recommend to go in every season
Entry for parking costs 4€.
There is a really nice restaurant there with a view on a lake with delicious Italian food.

Not worth coming. Nice lake.
Have entrance fee of 4€ - scam, cause even there is no parking

One of the most beautiful lakes I've ever seen. The lake seems almost magical. It has clear beautiful waters with forests and pastures all around it. The view of the Alps is simply stunning. Bring empty SD card and a full battery!

Gorizia Castle, an impressive 11th-century structure perched on a hill, is a must-visit during your city tour. The castle houses the Museum of Medieval Gorizia, the Synagogue of 1756 with its Jewish history museum, and the Museum of the Great War in Casa Dornberg and Casa Tasso. Additionally, it's home to the Transalpina Station, historically significant as it marked the border between Italian and Slovenian areas.
A very beautiful place to go. Peaceful and relaxing day by walking through the castle.

Nice drive through Nova Gorica to reach the castle, free parking. Quiet and peaceful walk round the castle walls, great views
Anita Robinson — Google review
We came here walking from the railway station in Nova Gorica, where to we arrived from the lake Bled in Slovenia. The castle is currently closed, but the space around it is very tidy, and there is a big playground in the beginning of the walkind path near the big parking lot.
Julia Lukinova — Google review
Interesting location, nice museum, but not a single info in slovene language! Only in Italian and a few in explanations in German. A lot of Slovene tourist- border is few metres away - but NOT A SINGLE TOURIST INFO IN SLOVENE LANGUAGE! Shame on you! Same situation is in town in restaurants, churches... Completely devastated park-wood on "slovene-side" of castle hill (in the east part of hill). Main building and buildings on hill top are nice.
Vili Eržen — Google review
Wonderful castle just above Gorizia with a great park full of ancient trees.
K. Matthias Mäke-Kail — Google review
An adventure to history, worth visiting.
Sonja Leskovar — Google review
The castle itself is wonderful, but what concerns foreign tourists is very badly taken care off. The panels with information are only in Italian language, no Slovene or English languages, even though we're in a frontier city which is bilingual. On the Slovenian side all the things are written in Slovene, Italian and English languages. The tourist worker who showed us around the castle, spoke really poor English and almost no word in Slovene.
Sasa Plestenjak — Google review
Beautiful castle overlooking Gorizia and Slovenian side of Vipava Valley.
The Great War Museum and Fashion Museum are located on top of a hill in Gorizia. The War Museum showcases objects, arms, and uniforms from the Great War, including a trench representation. It provides an insightful look into the horrors of World War I. The exhibition is well-organized with banners explaining the displays. The Fashion Museum next to it highlights the region's history in silk production. Visitors can enjoy stunning views from the castle on a nice day while exploring these museums.
Great museum for lovers of the Isonzo campaign. My 14 year old history nut said it was better than he expected. Views from the castle are stunning too on a nice day.
Duncan Richards — Google review
Great museum about the WWI! The only reason I give 4 stars is that it would be good if all the information in the museum is also provided in English not only Italian.

Decent WW1 museum. Some good displays and artifacts. Not the best in the area but worth a visit.
M Peters — Google review
Administratives were friendly and helpful, I visited these exhibitions with my family on the first Sunday of months, so the enter was free of charge. We came nearly 11 am and we was only one visitor. The exhibitions themselves were properly organised.
Hanna Kozorez — Google review
I didn't have a guide but that wasn't a problem to enjoy the Museum. There are a lot of pictures, uniforms, guns, masks, and even a trench representation. Everywhere are banners explaining the objects or the exhibition so it is not a problem to know what is what. In 45 minutes you can really cover the whole museum without a rush. One of the best WWI i ever visited.
Gabriel Gonzalez — Google review
The exhibition is well organized and presents the horrors of a continent shredding war which has swallowed entire generations and put an end to the imperialist era of European national states opening up the space for the even deeper swirl of fascist madness.

Vršič Pass is a steep mountain road situated at an elevated height of 1611m, approximately 13km southwest of Kranjska Gora. The route to the pass is famous for its zigzagging and passes through various fascinating sites while ascending. The view from the top includes Mojstrovka in the west and Prisojnik/Prisank in the east, providing breathtaking views of western Slovenia's Soca River valley to the south.
Great view on the mountain and valley. There is a shelter and a tiny shop with souvenir on the top. Also there are multiple hiking and alpine routes near.
A car road to the pass is in a good condition, however requires good serpentine driving skills. A bit more dangerous for motorcycle riders. In may there is still a snow.
Andrei Belashou — Google review
This is exactly my kind of road. While you have to be careful, this is a lovely, fun drive up in to the mountains. There are some excellent places to stop for photos and some amazing hikes and short walks along the way. We did not have the best weather, but enjoyed a couple of walks.
The top most point of the pass is somewhere that is really worth stopping 1611m up in the mountains. There is a really nice hike up behind the parking area with some amazing views down the valley. Definitely a nice drive.
Andy Smith — Google review
Great hike - start from the top of the pass and head to vratica saddle and then to Slemenova Špica. Parking on top is obviously challenging during peak summer. Make sure you leave enough space for big bus to pass through
Maciek Gruchala — Google review
My favourite viewpoint. A series of fantastic routs start here, my most loved one is the Sleme path. It is breaking. Not just because of the steepy route but because of the beautiful surrounding.
Csaba Együd — Google review
Awesome view and a bunch of loud sheep's! 😄
If you pass the mountain definitely good for a stop by. And there is a restaurant/bar where you can rest from that curvy and stressy way up!
Andre G. — Google review
We got through this pass by absolute mistake :D GPS offered a couple minutes saving alternative route and we went for it. Then we found ourselves leaving the highway and driving up almost 1700 meters high snaky road. An extremely stressful drive up and down with a lot of hazards but EXTREMELY rewarding. You will snake up and down. It needs an experienced driver I would say and not for the lighthearted drivers.
The views are breathtaking. No pictures would describe it enough. You have to go to it yourself. Best mistake EVER!
Majed El-Soukari — Google review
Stunning area with lots of nearby hikes and quite a bit if parking.
Adrian Sitler — Google review
A starting point for several hike routes in the area. If you want to beat the crowds and find a place to park your car, you must come before 9:00. Later on the place is full of cars, people just try to park everywhere. Also be careful when going up as there might be quite a few cyclists and bikers on their way up or down. The road might be quite bumpy, especially in the paved sharp turns. In this case slower is better. Still it is definitely worth going up if you are nearby. The views are just amazing.
Pavel Radkovsky — Google review
If you’re in Slovenia you NEED to hire a car and visit this place! We really wanted to drive down the whole pass but unfortunately due to snow, the road was blocked off; but even this in itself was enough for me to say you need to visit. We ended up hiking up the pass for 2 hours, and even though it was strenuous in our unprepared gear, it was so so good!
The views here are truly breathtaking, especially at sunset when the sun is cascading down on the mountainsides. The snow really did add to it, but I’m sure in any conditions this would be an incredible view. Do not miss this!
Scott Wakefield — Google review
This is a beautiful drive that is well worth it. We did the drive on a weekday in August 2023. It was busy but not crazy.
Rob Gravis — Google review
To reach Vršič the road is a serpentine that goes upwards for about 20 minutes and it is 1600 m.a.s.l. up there. So, beware of the conditions before starting the way there
Janelle Paput-Jackson — Google review
Great drive up the winding road with lovely views from the top.
Vispi Edibam — Google review
Beautiful place, and to get there you need to drive up step road with with great views and 25 sharp turns. Also great for bikers to make you really tired :-) At the top you can park and walk around. There is also small shop with souvenirs and bar. View from the top is amazing.
Tomasz C — Google review
One of my favorite drives! There is something magical about this mountain pass. Exhilarating hairpin turns, overwhelming scenery, many interesting stops; what a journey!
Definitely one of the big highlights of a Slovenian road trip.
Take care, take it slow, and enjoy!
Perla, Resort & Entertainment is a contemporary hotel located in Nova Gorica that offers various amenities and features. It boasts the largest casino in Europe and provides casual rooms and suites for guests. In addition to the casino, there is a nightclub, four eateries, and a spa available. The hotel's central location makes it convenient for visitors. Modern accommodations with free WiFi are provided, along with air-conditioned rooms equipped with flat-screen satellite TVs, minibars, and private bathrooms.
For me this is the best casino in europe. As i play mostly slots there is a huge selection of all the most popular games and providers like Aristocrat, Igt, Konami, L&W, Novomatic and so on. You can choose between old classic games, like Cleopatra, Buffalo, Bierhaus, Book of ra, or play the new like Aristocrats Cash Express for example. The Rtp Settings seems to be very fair, i received regular wins and a lot of playtime. You also get a players card which collects you points while playing, that can be used for comps. The hotel complex is a little outdated but well maintaned. The Room was clean and very big with a nice view on the mountains. Breakfast Buffet has everything and is delicious. In Casino is a Buffet Restaurant which i like too. There is also a bar inside where you can buy alcoholic beverage and self service stations with water/coffee for free. From the underground car park you can take the elevator directly to hotel reception/casino. I'm looking forward to come back soon!

The hotel is not reliable and honest. On check-in we negotiated a room with one double bed and one single bed. Also the sauna we negotiated included into the price of 190 € per night.
Coming to the sauna we should be charged another 10€ per person. In the room we found a bed in the size of 140*200 and 90*200.
Don't let yourself blame from this people. We immediately checked out after a very unfriendly negotiation with the hotel manager...

It's located at the centre of Nova Gorica in Slovenia. It has a casino, spa, and swimming pool. It has a restaurant too. We stayed here for one night. It was a pleasant experience. The room and toilet were clean. There was a minibar in our room but you have to pay for the items that you consume. The Nomago bus station is also very close to the hotel. It is 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel. You can request to the receptionist to extend your check-out time.

Simply put, some of the staff at the casino are the rudest people I have met in my life. If you keep this kind of people in your main attraction it is very unlikely that you will have any future, considering that also the hotel's style and approach seems to be stucked in the past.
Iacopo Ghinassi — Google review
Not a very good massage and unkind/unhelpful staff. They didn’t even have soap in the showers. Hot tub was not hot. Saunas were nice however
Casino staff was also very rude and dismissive when I tried to ask a question in English.
Gabriel Jacobs — Google review
Visited the spa and the massage was very poor-I hesitate to use the term ‘massage’ because it was not a massage at all. They basically put some oil on my legs. The entire spa was strange and confusing
Tracia Forrest — Google review
A nice hotel that is slowly becoming a bit run down. The rooms are spatious and clean, however, the AC was broken in ours. They offered us to change rooms. The bathroom is big, but the water pressure could be better. Breakfast is okey, but no vegan savory options, which was disappointing.
I would recommend the spa. Very nice and proffesional staff.
Nestled along the Pisnica River, Lake Jasna is a picturesque destination with its white-sand shores and stunning mountain views. While smaller than other nearby lakes, it offers a tranquil atmosphere perfect for leisurely walks and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy the emerald green waters and find plenty of photo opportunities around the lake. Although there are no public restrooms available, the well-kept surroundings and library on the beach add to its charm.
Beautiful destination. You can eat and have some hot drinks. Beautiful view from the bubble. You can make brunch, lunch, dinner even inside the chalet what is close to the lake. For parking inside you have to pay. But close to the street you când find parking for free.

Very beautiful, even on a rainy day. The walk around the lake is very short, and we didn't explore much further as it was a cold rainy day, but even so, the views are amazing, and the lake is so beautiful and tranquil. There is a nice cafe next to the lake, easy parking, but a fairly small car park for a nice sunny day.

A lovely place for a walk and to enjoy the sea - Trieste's great asset.
The Piazza Unità d'Italia (Piazza Grande) is a large, impressive square in the heart of Venice that is flanked by some of the city's grandest palazzi. The square is a beautiful triumph of Austro-Hungarian town planning and contemporary civil pride and is especially beautiful when lit at night. The buildings around the piazza are all well maintained and look really nice during the day or at night when they are illuminated with blue lights.
Beautiful square. It is often said to be Europe's largest square located next to the sea. The square was built during the period when Trieste was the most important seaport of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and includes the city's municipal buildings and other important palaces. You should visit Caffe San Marco – a magnificent place, well known to both tourists and residents

One of the stunning places to visit at night. The Italians really know how to light up the night. This place is absolutely majestic, it beautiful during the day but absolutely gorgeous at night. It has lovely statues, water fountains and the buildings architecture is amazing. This place is one of my favourite evening places I’ve ever visited. It’s very lively, with lots to do in and around this area. How could you not check this place out.

Beautiful square overlooking the sea, there are some nice places to have breakfast or some appetizers. All the buildings are clean and well maintained, they look really nice at night when they are enlightened. There are also some nice blue lights on the ground.

Piazza Unità d’Italia (Unity of Italy Square) is the main square of Trieste. The rectangular piazza, located at the foot of the San Giusto Hill, opens on one side onto the Gulf of Trieste. With an area of 12,280 square meters, it is considered the largest seafront square in Europe.

Hidden Jem of a place. New cruise departure port 160km from airport. Took shared shuttle (faultless with (Go Opti) Replacing Venice for cruise ships. Trieste is a mix of styles with a laid back “Barcelona feel” to it. 200,000 people who love their piece of paradise. Outdoor European summer complete with alfresco dining in the heart of the city. Highly recommend.

Trieste’s biggest and main square - this is also the largest square in Italy that is right by the sea (Adriatic Sea in this case). The grand open space is awe inspiring. This is a great place for hosting concerts as well.

Lovely square, there were many tents up in the square when iw ent there so I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest extent, I guess they had just gotten done putting on a big event. There's a great restaurant on the square that serves the best french toast I've ever had.

Cattedrale di San Giusto Martire is a 14th-century cathedral built on a Roman temple that features intricate frescoes and mosaics. Completed in 1400, it showcases a combination of Ravenna and Byzantine architectural styles with 13th-century frescoes and 12th-century mosaics. The chapel, known as Escorial Carlista, houses the tombs of nine members of the Spanish royal family.
Nice historical place with awesome view on the Trieste and all surroundings. Near to the centre of the city and parking garages, just a few minutes of walking.

San Giusto is the result of joining two churches together. Impressive interior with a large nave; two aisles on either side; 13th century Byzantine mosaics and a magnificent Gothic rose window. We stayed for mass officiated unusually by a young priest with a sense of humour!

Beautiful church. And next to it you can see the ruins from the romains and go to the bell tower. From there you also get another beautiful view. Going up costs only 2 euro per person

The ambience inside was quite special. The interior was also decorative and splendid as were the religious depictions and altars. Definitely a place to visit.

You can reach the church after a nice hike up the hill, but the view is worth it. Entrance to the tower costs €2 per person. In the tower you will find four large bells and a beautiful view. Parking is tricky and complicated, for experienced drivers only.

14th century Gothic rose window, the portal and the massive bell tower. The whole of the façade, a hut. S. Giusto is a 'cathedral-patchwork' built in Roman times, on a paleochristian hall. Inside, the cathedral surprises, among the forest of columns, for the width of the five naves and the magnificent mosaics of the Venetian-Byzantine school (XII-XIII century). the magnificent wrought-iron chandelier overlooking the central nave, forged by Massimiliano for the throne room of his castle and then given to the cathedral before leaving for Mexico where he later died.

Beautiful cathedral. Ancient mixed with the modern. Interesting use of nautical motifs eg in the sacristy. A nice cool spot at the top of the city.

This is a very beautiful church. The architecture, artwork and stature is very nice. It’s beautiful, it’s not e big but it was much larger than I had anticipated. I really enjoyed the time I’ve spent here, if you enjoy visiting churches I would definitely recommend visiting this church when in Trieste.

Totally worth the climb to top of the hill where you find amazing romanesque cathedral. Not so high entrance but with beautiful old parts. Built on remains of roman temple. You can climb the tower to enjoy the view, but for that you have to pay 2€. In it you can see roman construction of old temple.

Beautiful church on the hill with really easy access when you are coming by car. It is possible to park in an underground garage on the sea level and the lift takes you all the way up to the church (and castle as well).
Definitely one of the best mammals you can visit in Trieste along with the castle, recommended 100 %.
Entrance is free within the opening hours.

The 13th century Cathedral is absolutly stunning. For its age, the well kept nature of the frescos and artefacts surpasses all expectations. We have seen 18th century churches and cathedrals in worse conditions. Have never seen anything like it, especially a cathedral with so many little chapels inside. Amazing, well worth the climb and visit. Almost looks like a movie set for a medieval fantasy film. A holy place rich with history, relics and color!

Very beautiful old church, main church of Trieste. Interior is very nice and interesting, you see and even feel how old the church is. And inside you can see very nice mosaics.
The church is located just near the San Giusto castle, on the top of the hill. You can go up the hill along narrow streets starting from the Trieste City Hall.
Irina Kravchuk — Google review
This is a treasure trove of a church for students of medieval art & architecture and the guides do not do it justice. Most European churches were heavily modified during the Baroque era and most of the Medieval and Renaissance decoration was lost. But not San Giusto; the only Baroque elements were in the side chapels. The church itself maintains its medieval 15th century aesthetic.
The church itself retains elements of far earlier churches and temples. It was originally built over a Roman temple in the 6th century and destroyed soon thereafter by the Lombard invasion. Two side-by-side churches were then built in the 11th and 12th centuries both with beautiful mosaic apses. The two churches were joined together in the 15th century, adding a larger central apse which now has a 20th century mosaic on its ceiling that is equally impressive, in its own way.
What is absolutely remarkable are the elements of each that have been preserved. The entry to the bell tower was built on a Roman foundation and many original columns were incorporated. The entire entryway to the church was used from the temple, and the sculpted figures on either side are a reused Roman funerary column. The mosaic floor to the left side of the church remains from the 6th century church and the 11th & 12th century apses have their original mosaics. It is worth a euro coin to turn on the lights to these apses for photos.
Finally, don't miss the 600 year old painting on the walls and ceiling of the rightmost apse. It's pretty deteriorated, but remarkable how much remains.
If you like medieval, don't miss this church in Trieste.

A majestic cathedral in excellent condition, skilfully restored inside. The dome above the altar is a thing of beauty.
The Risiera di San Sabba concentration camp was used by the Nazi regime to detain and kill political prisoners, as well as Jews who were then deported to Auschwitz. The museum is a five-storey brick-built compound that commemorates the 5000 people who perished here and the many thousands more who were impacted by the camp's existence. The exhibits provide an overview of the history of the concentration camp and its use during World War II.
Surely not at the level of the most famous (or infamous) concentration camps. For me it is worth five stars: this place needs a visit, as it is the only camp in Italy with a crematorium
Stefano de Santis — Google review
Great, succinct museum in a place charged with heavy, too recent history. Definitely worth a visit. Plan about 30-40 mins. Audioguides currently unavailable due to covid.

An unexpected little gem. Another sad point of reflection on WW2, and how grim it must have been. It's not a very big museum and there is a lot of reading. For me the map of the transition locations across Germany shows the systematic scale of the operation that was being undertaken.
In spite of being close to the town, people did not realise what was going on until late in the war.
Entry is free, but a donation is welcome.

This is a less known, yet very important site to visit. A remarkable monument of an era that should not be forgotten.
For 2 euros only you can buy an audio guide which I really recommend to do so, as otherwise you won't understand what to look at and you won't have all the background information.
If you get there by car the most convenient is to park at the supermarket's parking lot nearby.

Nice animal park for 2 hours walk, excellent location. Not so big variety of animals, but they do have good living conditions, big cages or in some cases no cage at all. You can also feed deers from your hand. :)

Great place to spend a Sunday. Bring your own picnic basket, there are plenty of picturesque spots to have a family picnic. There was also a fast-food restaurant. Kids were happy to have frankfurters with french-fryers :)
Natalie Totska — Google review
The park is ok. The entrance fee and the prices in the restaurant are slightly above average. One big plus point is that you can feed the goats donkeys and deer at the beginning of the park. The animals have very spacious habitats so don't expect to see too many of them from closeby. Overall worth the experience especially if you are a tourist and happen to be in the area.
Time you will need to visit the park: approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Good place to walk around with children. Although there are animals, it is better as a park than as a zoo. A small play ground area is a good attraction to toddlers.

This is a very beautiful wildpark! In my opinion you can go there with your kids. It's a clean ZOO and the people are friendly!
You can see a lot of animals who lived in the woods normally (hirschen und steinbocken etc.) You walks there between te animals you can spot them in the forrest.
You can also take your dog with you! But when it's hot outside take water with you for the dog. There is not a lot of water on the park for your dog.

This natural park is something original and incredible. It is absolutely not like a zoo but a voyage into the nature with the possibility to meet animals. Adults and children will be astonished and it will be also a great occasion to spend one day really in contact with natural life and history. On the hill there are some ruins that are so full of energy! Absolutely to go there!

Large park with a wide variety of animals. Most are European animals, so don't expect lions, hippos or wildabeast. But they do have wallabees and bison. Kaernten summer card gives free admission.
The Pyramidenkogel Tower is a popular attraction in Klagenfurt that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and Lake Worthersee. It features an observation deck, as well as a covered slide that provides visitors with a thrilling experience. The road leading up to the tower can be challenging for inexperienced drivers due to its steep and twisting nature. The parking lot is free and spacious, while the building's entrance is well-maintained.
Cool place. Road going up is fun, although might be challenging for novice drivers considering how steep and twisty it is in places. Parking lot is free, and large. Entrance to the building is very well maintained and the views from the top are brilliant. The slide from the top is well worth the 4 euros!

Great place to visit in Klagenfurt, from this tower you have a panoramic view on the city and the lake of Wörthersee, you can experience the slide from the 8th floor of the tower, the ticket costs for the student is 10 euro +4 euro for the slide if you would like to try it

A nice attraction from which you can admire the beautiful surroundings in good weather.
The price is relatively high, but at least you can get a discount for students, for example.
The slide was unfortunately not in operation but would have cost more money.
The souvenirs were unfortunately also very overpriced.
Otherwise, you can sit down in the restaurant and have a good meal at the end.

beautiful architectural design in itself! sitting on top of a steep hill climb. i have been to many "observation" tower/platform from the Eiffel tower, to the top of st. peter's basilica, to Jinmao tower in Pudong, what i appreciated most about the Pyramid is that there are multiple decks and none of them is completely enclosed in with glass panels or fences (would be kind of unimaginable in the US due to the risk of massive lawsuit in case of someone jumping off! 🙄😁) therefore, not only do you have an unobstructed panorama view of the lakes, the alps, the meadows and villages, you also can feel the breeze and fresh air. to my surprise, there is an slide with which you can opt to slide back down. but in order to get more of this breathtaking view and get more fresh air, we opted to walk down the stairs ... unlike many staircases i had climbed before, this one is wide and with very easy steps to negotiate. there are even benches in the middle floors where you can stop and look out again. i was very impressed with architecture itself and many details incorporated to offer convenience and comfort to the visitors. a must stop if you happen to be in the area.

We walked from the parking place on a pretty difficult route to the tower (route nr 27, ~4.5km, 2.5h). It was beautiful and fun, for the children too. The elevator was not working in the tower, but 'walking is the best medicine', so with a couple of hundred steps we reached the top.:) The view from the top is amazing. You can see the Wörthersee, the Alps and more. If you decide to walk to the tower, then be aware of that the last bus comes at ~18:15. We missed it.:D

Here are some interesting facts about Pyramidenkogel in Austria Wörthersee:
It is the tallest wooden observation tower in the world, at 100 meters (328 feet) tall.
It has a 120-meter (394-foot) long spiral slide, which is the longest in Europe.
The tower offers panoramic views of Lake Wörthersee, the surrounding mountains, and the Julian Alps in Slovenia.
It is also home to a restaurant, a café, and a souvenir shop.
The tower was built in 2013 and was designed by the Austrian architect Günther Domenig.
Here are some additional interesting facts:
The tower is made of over 1,000 cubic meters of wood, which is the equivalent of about 10,000 trees.
The tower's spiral staircase has 441 steps.
The tower's observation deck is 70 meters (230 feet) above the ground.
The tower is accessible by car, bus, or on foot.
The tower is a popular tourist destination, attracting over 200,000 visitors each year.

Anthony's Shaft Mining Museum offers a unique and immersive experience, allowing visitors to step back in time and explore the working conditions of mercury miners in Idrija. The museum is housed within the 500-year-old Anthony Shaft, which leads to the first mine and features extensive tunnels. Visitors are provided with protective clothing and helmets before embarking on a guided tour that covers about 1200m of the mine, lasting approximately 1 hour.
Interesting tour about mining and life of mine workers. You wiill go about 100 meters deep underground to see how the mine had worked.

A very interesting presentation of the 500 years of mercury mining in Idrija. The guides are very knowledgeable and tell the story well. I recommend you buy a joint ticket to visit the mine and then the Smelting Plant on the opposite side of town. Tour one, then grab a bite to eat, then tour the other. It is a great way to spend the day, especially if the weather doesn’t cooperate to spend time outdoors.

500 year old Mercury Mine , The guide was very informative and knew his stuff well, his English was brilliant as well. When we went there were only 2 of us, very quiet during the winter months. You are given a coat and helmet and make sure you bring sturdy shoes/ climbing boots as some of the stairs and slopes are slippery , the tour plus the film was just under 1.5 hrs long. Temperature in the Mine is about 12 degrees and a significant draft.
There is free parking nearby. Make sure you look at the website before going, there are set times for the tours for winter and summer months.

Skocjan Caves, a natural wonder in Slovenia, is an extraordinary underground network of fossil-filled caves with a river and canyons. The cave system was carved out by the Reka River over the past two decades and is home to huge, spectacular subterranean chambers that must be explored. The caves offer guided tours to visitors who can witness its beauty up close; it's recommended for visitors to wear warm clothing and sturdy footwear while exploring.
Incredible place, absolutely breathtaking. The murmuring river in the underground canyon leaves unforgettable impression. The scenes inside are like in Lord of the Rings (or Portal 2 game on underground levels).
When you're leaving the cave, you have 3 options to get back to the initial point: two short routes and one long. It's really worth to take the longest route (#3, takes 40min) and see all the beauty of the canyon.
Unfortunately, photos are forbidden inside, even without flash, there is a monitoring (however, a lot of people still do it)
Andrei Belashou — Google review
The tour was stunning. I must say, the cave was bigger and even more impressive than in all the pictures you see of it. I was just astonished most of the times. It does get a little bit hard if you’re afraid of heights because there is a bridge really high up that you need to cross, but the feeling of seeing everything going on in this cave is remarkable

If you're looking for an amazing underground adventure, I highly recommend checking out these caves. They were much bigger than expected, with an awe-inspiring array of natural formations and stunning underground landscapes.
One of the best things about these caves was how accommodating the staff were when we were late for our original booking. Despite our tardiness, they still made sure we were able to experience the tour and see all the incredible sights.
However, it's worth noting that there were many people on the tour, which may not be ideal for those who prefer smaller crowds. That being said, the incredible sights were definitely worth the company.
One thing to keep in mind is that visitors aren't allowed to take pictures inside the cave. However, at the end of the tour, you're able to snap a few shots to capture the experience.
Overall, if you're looking for an amazing underground adventure, these caves are definitely worth checking out. While the crowds may be a bit larger than desired, the stunning natural formations and accommodating staff make it an unforgettable experience. Just don't forget to bring a camera for the end of the tour!

Such a great experience. If you go, definitely take the red trail when you come out of the cave. Be sure to get reservations in advance. All of the tours were sold out on the day we went. It’s hard to put into words how incredible these caves are/ the experience walking through this cave. The tour was incredible, and I appreciate not being able to take pictures inside as it forces you to focus on the true, raw, natural beauty. The river rushes through as you walk along the dimly lit path. The tour guides are super knowledgeable and it is definitely worth a visit. One of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen in my life. As a freshwater ecologist, I was in heaven!

Looked expensive at 22 euros for the guided tour, but absolutely worth it. Tour is a bit more than an hour through the main caves, and afterwards you can do another unguided part for 30min to 1hour which is amazing.

Note that photos are not allowed in the guided part of the tour

The group is quite big, but that turned out to be okay as the guide made sure that everyone could understand him well.

It's hard to find the right words to describe the Skocjan Caves. This place is magical and so raw. I've been to several caves, but this one made a fantastic impression on me. The Skocjan Caves are so huge that you can easily feel the space. Phenomenal rock formations - stalactites and stalagmites, plus a rushing river beneath us. You are not allowed to take photos in the main area. We chose the longest trail - it's beautiful, it was a bull's-eye.

Absurdly breathtaking, the most extraordinary cave experience I've had. The underground canyon is mesmerizing and feels like you have stepped into a scene from Lord of The Rings.
The steps can be a little strenuous and the ground a tad damp so pack in comfortable hiking boots and long sleeves as it can be chilly. No photos are allowed in the caves themselves to preserve the natural light (or lack of it) as much as possible. They even turn off the navigation lights between tours.
An absolute must foe those seeking out the grandeur of caving.

The most beautiful cave I have every visited. It is amazing to see that nature can create such massive caves underground. Be aware that the cave has become a big tourist attraction and that buying tickets beforehand is highly recommended. Visiting the cave is done in groups of 40 with a guide. Inside of the cave it is NOT allowed to take any pictures (only at the exit). At the exit of the cave there are three options of returning to the main building. I recommend taking the longest route, if the walking doesn't bother you, as it will take you through some extra caves where you can take some pictures.
Thomas Carsjens — Google review
Very highly recommended for the nature lovers. Many thousands years old limestone caves filled with millions of drip stones (stalactites ) and stalagmites, and one of the world’s largest underground river canyons. The cave is throughout well lit and provided with safety railings along the canyons. There are so many amazing chambers, one of them called the hades chamber is the most spectacular with the largest stalagmite of Europe and one of the largest in the world. There is a guided tour available for 22€, which is absolutely worth the time and the price. Really amazing team of tour guides, very friendly, attentive and informative. Towards the end of the guided tour they provide you with three options to return to the initial point. Two of the routes take you further for small hikes. Unfortunately we had to take the shorter route of 20 minutes, which was mostly stairs. There comes a small detour for the splash falls, which is really awesome. Although the photos are strictly forbidden inside, but people do manage to capture secretly. There is a big parking place with lots of space available.

These caves were crazy awesome. The tour was fun and I formative, but the caves are just so big. I felt like I was in an Indiana jones movie. So great. At the end of the tour there is a short walk back and a longer one. DO THE LONGER WALK! It is seriously worth the extra 30 min, and you get to see bonus caves and very nice landscapes.

This was the most amazing caves I’ve ever seen, and is definitely a must see if you ever visit Slovenia!!
Remember to buy a guided tour ticket in advance. Our tour guide, Vesna, was just the best, really good at explaining and telling stories about the caves!
You are not allowed to take pictures inside the caves, which really makes you take in the experience.
There are good facilities at the visitor center, where you can buy food and souvenirs.
We will definitely be back the next time we visit Slovenia

Although it's not allowed to take photos in the caves (the place is on the UNESCO list) you are guaranteed to have the greatest experience of your life. To my mind, it is a far more authentic and less commercial attraction than the Postojna cave...
REMEMBER TO BUY THE TICKETS IN ADVANCE!!!

Definitely worth the visit.
From the meeting point we had to do a short walk to the cave entrance at which point the rules were explained and the groups were formed.
The initial sections of the cave weren’t that interesting but the canyon area is truly amazing. You can hear and see the water rushing through.
Compared to Postajna Cave, this one was much better organized. Being less popular also contributes to a better experience.

Very impressive. The tour would remind you of lord of the rings. Also very different from Postojna cave but definitely worth it. Guide was in English and explained well however sometimes not good to hear due to the environment or echo. The doline is very pretty and there are viewpoints or tours that you can follow by yourself. Recommended to buy tickets in advance.

We visited the Skocjan Caves recently, and it was an incredible experience. The natural beauty of these caves is awe-inspiring. The underground chambers, stalactites, and stalagmites are a testament to the wonders of nature.
The guided tour was informative, and our guide was knowledgeable about the geological history of the caves. The highlight was definitely the enormous underground canyon with the rushing river. It felt like being in a different world.
The organization and facilities at the site were excellent, making the visit comfortable and enjoyable. However, one thing that disappointed me was the prohibition on taking photographs inside the cave, it would have been wonderful to capture some memories of this remarkable place.
I would also caution against visiting the souvenir shop on the premises. The salesperson there was unfriendly and seemed disinterested in helping tourists, which was a stark contrast to the overall positive experience of the caves.
Despite these drawbacks, I highly recommend visiting the Skocjan Caves to anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature and geological wonders. It's a must-see attraction in Slovenia.

Love it! It is so worth it to visit it. I don't have a lot of pictures, because of safety, it is prohibited to take them. But I have a lot of nice memories.. it is open-minded and has a wow effect. We were during October, so it wasn't so touristic, but of course, the tickets are better to buy online.

Under UNESCO protection the biggest underground canyon in Europe. One hour of descent into darkness....well if u see when they turn the lights off behind you. Total darkness, amazing.
Predjama Castle, located 9km from Postojna in Europe, is an impressive fortress that was built within a cave on the side of a 123m cliff. The castle's four storeys were constructed gradually over the years starting from 1202, but the majority of what can be seen today dates back to the 16th century. Its location and design make it appear impenetrable and it features restored living quarters as well as dungeons and even a secret tunnel.
Predjama castle is located approximately 15-minute drive from the highway E61 and 10 minutes from the Postojna Caves, so it is convenient to visit both in the same day. We purchased combined ticket (Castle+Caves) for approx. 40 EUR per person. Parking was not difficult to find, however we arrived relatively late at around 16:30 (castle was closing at 17:00), so I imagine during the peak hours the situation might be different.
There are no guided tours inside the castle, instead you get an audio guide (included in the ticket price) which was available in many languages (at least 15). The explanations were helpful, straight to the point and relatively short, so for me that was one of the best audio guide experience. It took us around 45 minutes to properly explore the castle. Normally castle is open until 17:00 but we were leaving the premises at around 17:15 and no one was pushing us out.
It does indeed look magnificent as almost the whole castle is covered by huge rock. You get to explore many different rooms, some of them looking more like caves and others like actual livable rooms. There are some nice viewing points of the valley at several terraces located in the castle. It is definitely worth to visit as there are not many "cave castles" around the world!
There are couple of restaurants in the proximity of the castle and restrooms near the parking lot.

Very unique castle built into a cave. Audio tour gives interesting details as you walk through the castle. Easy to do the tour at your own pace

Very interesting castle and history with the included audio guide. There's a decent amount of walking up stairs and through the rooms, but it's evenly spaced with audio guide sections which are numbered to listen. The parking is average an consists of a paved area with about 50 bays. After this fills up, you park in a grassed marshy paddock which is a bit hard to get in and out once more people start coming. Other than that, good castle but make sure you get there early

Absolutely beautiful castle surrounded by stunning scenery. It has a fascinating history.
I recommend coming early because it can quickly get crowded. Also bring a hoodie and good shoes as it can get cold and slippery in the castle.
There is a free audio guide app that is essential to the experience. You can download it near the entrance as there is free wifi for just that.

Great looking castle with a really nice audio guide included in the price and with a free app if you don't want to hold guide by your ear al the time. The guide really gives a nice value as it points a lot of interesting solutions they used in the castle to use the rock and Cave merging with the castle

This is just an amazing castle …. A dream place full of adventures and surprises in side … bring comfortable shoes and with some grip this place is natural wet … there is not lifts…. The castle is full of hidden corners that takes you to a nice natural cave. You need a car or a tourist bus to reach this place . You must pay for parking per hour. The castle is in the world Guiness records of the largest castle built on a cave. They have audio Guia in many languages. People were polite and nice. You must reserve in advance tickets if you don’t want disappointments specially during summer time.

It was a great experience. I've never seen a castle inside of a cave. The history of it and the unique architecture that is part of it, are also great to listen to.
Hard to imagine life over there that time but they did it. If you are somewhere around just turn here and you won't regret it. Nearby is also a small local pub with some local stuff. Thank you🤩

Really nice castle built into the cave. The day we went was quite crowded and a bit overwhelming. However, this is not something you want to miss if you’re in town. Here you are given a self guided audio tour, offered in many languages. The castle itself is well curated, but be careful because the stair cases that are connected to the cave part of the castle are very slippery and many people fell. It’s best to go slow and hold on to the railing.
You can access this castle by taking the free bus. This bus comes from the train station - bus station - predjama caves - to the castle. Check the website for the times.

One of the nicest castles i have visited. The castle is located inside of the rocks and that is truly a unique experience to see this. We had an audioguide and were very interested. In every room you can see old furniture, weapons and armour, ... At the end of the tour you'll go inside the rocks behind the castle. This was something i have never seen before. Really worth a visit. The lady in the gift shop was really friendly. (and there's a cat!!)

A truly amazing Castle with a beautiful view. It was very interesting listening to it’s history (they provide audio players). We bought tickets at the small shop when we arrived. If you visiting with babies make sure you have a carrier or just hold them. Lots of stairs (Castle is inside a cave basically). I cannot imagine living in those times in that Castle, it’s just amazing to picture everything in your head. If you are near by, make sure to make a stop here. Is worth the visit!

This medieval castle, which is the largest cave castle in the world, is still intact after 800 years. You'd wonder how they managed to attach a castle to a cave when cement, screws and drills hadn't been invented yet. I had an audio guide explaining different chambers/ rooms. Beware that there are many steps and uneven paths.

Stunning castle that is located in a cave and surrounded by a farming village. The place is definitely worth visiting when in Slovenia and takes an hour to get to from Ljubljana by bus. Worth noting a cab is needed from the Pastojna bus station to the castle. All the shops were closed as we went during off season.
Tscheppaschlucht is a stunning natural attraction located in the narrow Loibl Valley, connecting Carinthia to Slovenia. The trail through the gorge offers dramatic views of waterfalls, rope bridges, and river crossings. Visitors can enjoy the wooden walkway fixed to the canyon wall while taking in the breathtaking scenery. Despite some sad episodes in history, this place offers an amazing experience for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
The pads are good to walk. Prices of the tickets are okey for what you get.

Nice walk beautifull nature. At the top, you have the nice view over the different waterfalls. Once there you realize immediately that this is worth the climb and 2 hours driving! When we returned to the car, it was raining very heavy. We didn't care if we were wet or not! So we walked through the rain. The air was so nice. The whole family enjoined the walk. One can easily explore the city of Ljubljana by taking a leisurely stroll along the river that offers a glimpse of several prominent landmarks, including Joze Plecnik's Central Market, Triple Bridge and Cobblers Bridge. The embankments designed by Plecnik in the 1930s and 40s add to the charm of this picturesque walkway. The left bank is lined with trees and dotted with cafes that offer panoramic views of the city.

Prešeren Square is a beautiful and imposing square in the heart of Ljubljana. It is named after the Slovene Romantic poet France Preseren, whose work has had a significant impact on Slovene national identity. The square is home to a monument to Preseren as well as a muse, and it is an excellent place to linger while in Ljubljana.

Let coated in Ljubljana, the capital.of Slovenia. Beautiful architecture as shown in the photo. There is a river running through with three little bridges across it. Views right up into the mountains and hills. Plenty to see and lots of photo opportunities. Ljubljana is a tiny capital city so it's all compacted into a small space so easy to get around. Lovely and clean, English is spoken quite widely. No shortage of places to eat and drink.

Every capital represents the country and its history, so being in Lublana is a must have for someone who visits Slovenia. Old city is absolutely fantantic. The symbol of this city is a green dragon, so mandatory point to visit is Dragon Bridge, but there are more... Tromostovje, Castle, Mestni Trg and still many more to see. What I like the most is the evenings here, when many events happen on the streets, so everyone can find something attractive to him. Definitely I stayed too short in this city, so I come back one day again.
The Triple Bridge, a trio of impressive bridges over the Ljubljanica River in the heart of Ljubljana, is a popular spot for coffee and snacks, as well as vendors selling traditional Slovenian souvenirs. The bridges are linked by stairways on each side, giving easy access to the riverbank's lush gardens and historic buildings.
The iconic Ljubljana Cathedral is a beautiful baroque building that is popular for its ornate bronze side door. The cathedral is most famous for its historic ties to Catholicism and Slovenia, as well as its stunning architecture.
Beautiful church, outside with pictures on the walls and details on the door. From the entrance you will be amazed by the interior. In the Baroque style it is covered with frescoes and statues, a gilded pulpit and a stunning roof. The photographs are not adequate to do justice to this magnificent cathedral. So spend time touring and just watching this amazing work of art. A must if you are passing by.

Katedrala svetega Nikolaja (St. Nicholas Cathedral) is a prominent Catholic cathedral located in the heart of Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. It is also known as Ljubljana Cathedral or Stolnica in Slovene.
The construction of the cathedral began in the early 18th century, replacing a previous church that stood on the same site. The Baroque-style cathedral was designed by the Italian architect Andrea Pozzo and was completed in 1706. However, it underwent further renovations and modifications over the years.
The exterior of St. Nicholas Cathedral features a stunning green dome, which is one of the most recognizable symbols of Ljubljana's skyline. The facade is adorned with elaborate sculptures and intricate details, showcasing the grandeur of the Baroque architectural style. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful frescoes, altars, and statues that enhance the overall ornate interior.
The cathedral holds great religious significance for the Catholic community in Ljubljana and serves as the seat of the Archbishop of Ljubljana. It is not only a place of worship but also a significant cultural and historical landmark in the city.
Visitors to St. Nicholas Cathedral can attend Mass, explore the interior, and appreciate the religious art and architecture. The cathedral is open to the public, and entrance is generally free, although donations are appreciated to support the maintenance and preservation of the building.
The location of the cathedral in the city center makes it easily accessible, and it is often included in guided tours of Ljubljana's historical sites. It is also a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, offering a serene and contemplative atmosphere within the bustling cityscape

The castle complex of Ljubljana, situated on top of the Castle Hill above the historic old city centre, is a popular tourist attraction with excellent views of the city. The buildings date from the 15th century onwards and form an important cultural venue.
Wonderful view of Ljubljana in an extraordinarily well renovated and maintained fortress, with several nice restaurants and bars on site. Easy access with funicular, but you should at least enjoy the footpath on your way downhill. Next time have to visit definitely the castle museum, too, closing a little bit too early.

We went by walk, it's not difficult to go to the top, it's nice and green and you can reach it in 10-15 minutes.
Before enter the castle you can buy the ticket to the tower.
Inside the castle you can drink a soft drink which was very nice on a warm day. The castle is clean and nicely renovated. We also saw 3 weddings on that day. The view from the tower was beautiful. The museum was interesting.

During my recent visit to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, I had the pleasure of exploring the historic Ljubljana Castle. Perched atop a hill in the city's center, the castle offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, coupled with stunning views of the city below.
1. The Ascent
The journey began with a funicular ride to the top, which was both convenient and offered a unique vantage point of the city. For those who prefer a more active approach, the well-marked hiking trails provide a lovely alternative.
2. The Grounds
Upon arrival, the castle's grounds were immaculately kept, with lush greenery and well-preserved structures. The courtyard was a hub of activity, with visitors milling about and taking in the atmosphere.
3. The History
The castle's museum provided an insightful look into the region's history, with exhibits that were both informative and engaging. The Timeline of the Castle exhibit was particularly interesting, detailing the castle's evolution from a medieval fortress to a symbol of cultural pride.
4. The Tower
Climbing the Watchtower was a highlight, as it offered a 360-degree panoramic view of Ljubljana. The climb was a bit of a workout, but the reward at the top was well worth the effort.
5. The Puppet Museum
An unexpected delight was the Puppet Museum. It showcased a whimsical collection that was a hit with both children and adults alike, adding a touch of playfulness to the historical site.
6. The Café
The castle's café was a great spot to relax and enjoy a coffee or a light meal. The outdoor seating area provided a serene setting to take in the views and reflect on the visit.
Ljubljana Castle is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Slovenia's charming capital. It offers a rich blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, all wrapped up in an easily accessible and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for a picturesque spot to unwind, Ljubljana Castle delivers on all fronts.

Very nice castle situated on top of the hill. There are museums and various attraction. The entrance fee includes return ticket with funicular. Beautiful view from the tower - whole city and surrounding mountains are visible. Definitely highly recommend when visiting Ljubljana.

This is a very nice castle with a nice observing tower, however, what makes it so special is the puppetry museum that you get access to when you buy entrance tickets. Very clean and well maintained. Great care for details and multiple benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the beautiful views of Ljubljana. A highly recommended visit and very friendly staff!

The Castle of Ljubljana sits on the central hill that is prominent in the old part of the city. It's important to know that the top of the hill, where the castle is, can be reached on foot, bicycle, and car from different pathways. The least energy consuming pathway is the Gondola lift, located to the north-east of the hill. The use of this lift is only possible by buying a full castle tour ticket. The Castle ticket is normally 10€ if you buy it up, and 13 if you want to catch the lift. An additional fee can be paid for an audio recorded guide. The devices communicate wirelessly with the exhibits so that you can just walk around and the recordings will change accordingly. The Castle is very well maintained but the whole experience remains on the commercials side of things. Not a good bargain for the cost, but nonetheless an iconic tourist destination. Perhaps a lot more interesting and enjoyable are the small streets around the hill of the Castle, with characteristic buildings and the central water canal. At the Castle itself the visit is divided into different exhibition sites, with the high tower being somewhat the highest attraction. The exhibition sites focus on historical events in the history of Slovenia, including the more recent independence from Yugoslavia. A short but steep walk down the hill will take you back to the old town.

I would definitely recommend a visit here. The view on sa sunny day is amazing. If possible go with the funicular, it is really cheap and the experience is worth it. If you want to visit the tower you have to buy a ticket, as well as for the exhibitions.

It’s worth visiting the castle and explore the history. The way to the castle is a bit steep hike so if you’re with strollers then would be good to take a ride of funicular train. Strollers could be folded and parked at the end of the train. There is also a 4d virtual tour about the history which is included in ticket, so don’t forget to explore. Also it’s worth going to the top and see the view of the city

Absolutely one of the best places you have to check out while in Ljubljana. Took the funicular/elevator up but would recommend to climb. Loved the moss on the wall along the zigzag trail. The castle itself is more than just magnificent. The medieval architecture and craftsmanship along with the modern art display are simply breathtaking. At the top, you would have a panoramic view of the city as well as the Alps which is out of this world. Had my doubts about visiting in Dec but loved the mysterious foggy view. You should get the ticket with the museum access with 9 euro more but it's totally worth it. I was very fascinated by the puppet displays and have to say the characters and styles are quite creative and attention to details. Can't wait to check out other castles in the area.

Being located in the middle of the city, the castle is a very popular tourist attraction. It is therefore recommended to visit the castle as early as possible. Inside the castle multiple restaurants and several nice exhibitions can be found. Be aware that visiting the castle is free, but that all indoor exhibitions require a ticket. The castle and the surrounding paths give nice views over the city and it's worth to watch the sunset from the top of the hill! (Buying a Ljubljana Tourist Card gives free access to the castle, funicular, a lot of museums and the zoo in Ljubljana)

From the outside, the old castle is attractive, but from the inside it has been renovated too modern - not a cozy castle yard. The scenery is by far the best and you didn't need an entrance ticket.

Beautiful castle, very good past time. I recommend getting the audio guide it helps a lot to enjoy the exhibits. I loves the modern additions, concrete and steel walkways, theatre. There was a queue at the funicular but it goes relatively fast.

The castle is located on a hill. There isn't enough parking space. We were with a child who had a scooter with them. The only way to go up to the castle walls and see Ljubljana is by climbing the stairs. There's no place to leave the scooter. We asked the lady at the ticket counter as well as the lady at the tourist information to keep the scooter for us, but they refused. The storage lockers were not large enough for the scooter. Inside the museum, it was easy to leave the scooter. Another drawback: you pay 12€ for admission, and yet the restroom is not free 😂
Conclusion: You can go up to the castle walls and enjoy the view without a ticket.
The castle isn't child-friendly.
The service is poor.

The city's panoramic view is wonderful from the castle. The road is enjoyable, and in the castle is a wonderful cafe.
We drank black tea. It was nice. The staff is so nice and kind.
The ambience of the place is relaxing and peaceful.

100% worth your time. The fare for the funicular is completely reasonable and there‘s a discount for students. You‘ll get amazing views from the top and things to see within the castle.

The castle itself looks like it is from a fairytale. The funicular is convenient, but the climb up the hill is also very nice. At night time, the city of Ljubljana lights up.
I have to give a point less as the day was cloudy, so did not get the best view.

It is a very easy hike up to the “castle”. I would classify the “castle” as a fortress rather than a castle because there is nothing that you expect to see. Do not buy the ticket unless you want a 3D, 10 minute history lesson and a chance to go to the top of the tower. You can get great views without a ticket.

An excellent old castle and well worth a visit. Entrance to the castle grounds was actually free at the time of visit, just walk in and enjoy. There are plenty of information boards in the grounds to provide context to the history some of the buildings and renovation works that have been taking place since the 1950s which were interesting to read.
You can go into the underground passages to see some of these and some excavated rooms such as the water cistern and prison cells as well as castle chapel. The only bit you actually needed a ticket for was entrance to the museum exhibit and the viewing platform on top of the tower where the flags fly. You can actually get a good all round experience of the castle for free if you miss these.
Great views of the city can be had by walking along the footpath at the base of the castle walls and there are benches there to sit and relax and enjoy the views!

We walked the grounds and climbed the tower and was not crowded at all. The views from the tower to old town Ljubljana was really cool. You can take the path and walk up to castle or take the funicular, I recommend take the funicular up and do the walk down.

A visit to this amazing city is not complete without visiting the amazing medieval castle, be sure to climb up the steps of the clock tower to take in the perfect views,
to get the best value of our visit we used the city card, after a wonderful outing, we walked backed down the hill to the old town.

Beautiful views of Ljubljana city. One of the ticket options includes a return ticket on the funicular, entrance to the castle, entrance to the museum of puppetry, entrance to the exhibition of Slovenian history and entrance to the viewing tower (i.e. the top of the tower with the flags on with the best views!). There can be up to a 10 minute wait for rye funicular and then it takes a couple of minutes to reach the top/bottom. Definitely a must see when visiting Ljubljana, so much history.

Very nice view from the castle top and interesting exhibition about the history. Tickets can be easily bought there. Definitely worth a visit!

Loved the place. I enjoyed the nice views of Ljubljana and Alps in the back, but one thing that caught my attention was the underground spaces, with the wooden gallery supported by wooden pillars, there you can see the dragon made of wire and learn about the history of the fortress.
There is a public bathroom as well, costs 1€.

Nice castle with good views. The funicular railway was good quality and efficient. You're by a metal dragon from which you can walk to the main square. The square is nice and spacious to walk around. There are multiple viewing platforms which offer good views. Around the square you can also find some informative boards about the castle. The cafés at the square also offer good drinks. The square also has a Slovenian history museum which was good. At the end of the day it took a little time to find the exit but it is in fact just at the entrance. The path back down was pretty good too.

Nice castle, good renovation, lot of things to see here with a relatively good price over quality ratio and also the coffee is really good in the coffee shop. Also the view is beautiful from the tower and the parking is easy and for a good price. So overall I can recommend to visit this castle.

Very interesting castle built by Habsburg dynasty. Within the castle there are multiple joined locations to visit: museum of puppetry, tower, prison for nobility and prison for general population, chapel… Note that these require tickets to get in (ranging from 16 euros per person).

This castle was renovated for best experience. You get your tickets before getting into finucular and it is the whole package. Do not throw away your tickets because you show them in every attraction within the castle. There are restaurants inside and places to rest. Adult ticket costs 16 euros (april 2024) and includes fanicular up and down.
The atmospheric Old Town of Ljubljana is home to a variety of accommodation, from rooms in central hotels to apartments and villas high up on the hill overlooking the city.
The apartment is easy to find after arriving at the bus station. Across the bridge is The Central market and all the places are at walking distance. Lot of eating place around. Apartment is cozy,
clean, comfortable and very quiet. Will definitely recommend to friends.
Stay: 8-11 October 2019

Great central location, great service. The staff were very responsive to help us with any issues. The room is compact and comfortable. The kitchen is a bit of a tight squeeze but is well equipped.

Great location and great price. Everything you'd need. The bedroom is separate to the main room and it has a kitchenette, it is centrally located too with a large choice of bars and restaurants close by. Even though they are close we never had any noise problems. I don't think I would go back to Ljubljana again as I think I have experienced everything it has to offer but if I did go back I would stay here again.

U will not find a better location for a city tour. Great starting place for exploring the city, especially old town. Yet, noise levels at night are very low. No problem getting sleep here. We had Appartment 2 - it had everything we hoped for.

Stinking, suffocating, full of insects and cockroaches ... The location is excellent
The Krizna Cave in Slovenia is an impressive underground cave system with over 20 lakes that visitors can explore by boat. Unlike most other Slovenian caves, the Krizna Cave provides its visitors with lamps and boots for their visit as there is no electric lighting inside. The tour lasts around one to two hours and takes you through the dry parts of the cave, including a short boat ride on the first lake.
Did the 7h tour in a group of four plus our guide Gašper. Were really lucky because the water level and humidity conditions were perfect, so we could still sail comfortably in the little boats and see clearly with the lights on. Excellent example of conservation and care of nature which here comes first before us tourists. This was once in a lifetime experience and I definitely recommend it to those who are able to do it!

Very interesting visit. We highly recommend to take the visit also to the bear tunnel because is worth it. The cave doesn't have any artificial light or path, which keeps its originality. The guide was a really enthusiastic woman who explained everything really good. I would definitely reccomend it, also not so crowded with tourist.
PS: We found a semi real cave bear xD

Unique experience! Much less touristy than the Postojna caves (also less lighting, you can't see as much but you feel more like the people who first discovered the caves). Be sure to bring cash as there is no electricity to process card payments.

Fantastic cave and good guide. We did the short tour, about 1 1/2 hour. Lots if explanation.
They also do the 4 and 8/9 hour tours. Only on reservation and a limited nr of people per year. We had a group of 6. Very worth the visit.

This is a great place to have a more 'authentic' cave experience than that on offer at the nearby Postodjna Jama. Without any artificial lighting (except for torches and lighting under the boat) you get a real sense of being underground in monsterous caverns. On paper some of the caverns in the Postodjna Jama system are larger, but they feel much smaller in comparison due to the use of artificial lighting. The guides here are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic with excellent English. The boat ride and cave bear skull are real highlights. Tours last approximately one hour and waterproof boots and torches are provided. Warm clothing (long trousers and a jumper/fleece) is highly recommended.

The 4hr excursion through the cave lakes was an excellent experience. The cave itself and the underground ecosystem is mesmerising and we also had a fantastic guide - Luka, who had great knowledge, super skills and brilliant humor. Even my male partner "fell in love with him a little bit" which is as big of a compliment as it gets :-D Well done Luka, you made this experience even more special for us with your presence and expertise

Really interesting cave exploration, even though it's much less publicized. They equip you with a flashlight and guide you into the cave. There are no other light sources in the cave, which makes a very cool experience. The only disappointment on 1 hour tour is, that the boat part is very short, around 15 min. I would highly suggest to book longer tours in advance, but note that queue time is quite long.

When we arrived at the parking we read that they only accept cash, so we had to drive to the nearest atm some kilometres away to find an ATM. This meant we had to wait for 2hrs till the next tour. The guide first explains the underground system and that we only walk for 650m, followed by a short boat trip and then walk back. The experience underground was incredible, and would love to do a longer tour another time.

This was probably the best tour I have ever done. Gasper, the tour guide, was able to get a tour for us with only one days notice to the first lake and the bear cave for my family of six. The cave was amazing and unlike any cave I had ever toured. The only light was from the provided flash lights. Gasper was an excellent tour guide and spoke excellent english. The tour was not to challenging even for my 6 year old.

Not as popular as the Postocjan or Skocjan caves, but well worth a visit. There are several guided tours available which give you a unique opportunity to explore this cave in a more personal setting. Highly recommended to reach out to them beforehand since the weather (eg lots of rain) might impact the available tours and overall capacity is very limited. Some tours only take 4 people max, because you go further into the cave with a rubber boat.
It's impressive to see some fossils and marks of the cave bears (bigger than polar bears) who lived in this cave thousands of years ago.
Finally, take it easy on the gravel road towards the cave. Cars go in both directions and space is limited.

We had the four our tour with Gaspar. It was very exciting and Gaspar was very dedicated to the cave and the geology.
Remember warm clothes and socks.
Book your tour in advance ( 6 months or more)
We loved it.

We did the small tour one hour tour and it gives you and idea of how beautiful this cave is. We wished the tour was longer but the bigger ones need to be booked upfront. Any one traveling with a dog: they just build two perfect dog cages in the shadow, about 30meters from the entrance of the cave. We were the first ones the use it. So you can safely leave your dogs while you enjoy the cave. Big big plus for us!
National museum with a broad collection of paintings & artifacts, including a 60,000-year-old flute.
Fabulous place, interesting castle. Friendly staff! I would suggest a visit, especially to whom love history and stories.

This is such a nice little castle. Beautiful on the outside and very well taken care of on the inside. I had somewhat of a private tour since I was the only one and the girl great. Her English was great and she knew so much about the castle. Any question I had about the castle or one of the items…all answered in a split second. It was a great tour! Thank you so much (took the tour on monday 10th of July 2023 at 13.00…don’t remember her name anymore, but if you read this: you were great!)

Beautiful castle located essentially in the middle of nowhere. It's in great shape, fresh looking paint and new roof. Free parking on site. It's a few euro to enter into the castle, however I chose not to. You can walk around the castle on a nice path. Highly recommend. About 1 hour from LJ or 35 minutes from Postojna.

Beautiful fully restored castle which statted as a small medieval fort but was later built up and redesigned. It's final look and style was done during the renesanse period. Thete is also a huge park area around the castle perfect for relaxation.

I visited this castle 1967 with my grandmother, who came from Nadlesk. At that time, it was called "Titograd". .
We were told it was a place where President Tito came for a rest or holiday.
