The direct drive from Cusco to Barranco is 666 mi (1,072 km), and should have a drive time of 16 hrs 48 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Cusco to Barranco, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with Machu Picchu, Nazca, Paracas, Ollantaytambo, and Ica, as well as top places to visit like Moray and Sitio arqueológico Pinkuylluna, or the ever-popular Maras.
The top cities between Cusco and Barranco are Machu Picchu, Nazca, Paracas, Ollantaytambo, and Ica. Machu Picchu is the most popular city on the route. It's 5 hours from Cusco and 15 hours from Barranco.
The Sacred Valley, nestled between mountain ranges, showcases the remains of ancient Incan buildings and temples. This area is considered one of the most spiritual places in the world, exuding an aura of positivity. The region's breathtaking scenery with distant mountains towering over a gradually decaying green-to-gray hill adds to its charm. Visitors can spend weeks here without getting bored with its natural beauty.
Beautiful area! You could spend weeks here and not tire of its beauty.

We traveled a long way by bus to Cusco, Peru, South America
On the way from town to Lake Titicaca.
The bus continued and we never did
On the way up the hill,
Already advancing with the plane.
What a wonderful form of distant mountains!
Gradually, vegetation was in decline.
The green hill was gradually changing from green to gray.
Apurba that form, Apurba your color!

I mean, what can I say that hasn't been said? The landscapes and scenery are gorgeous. Breathtaking, actually, and I say that without being dramatic. If you're in Cusco, there is much more to see and do than Machu Pichu (no shade) and the Sacred Valley is one of those things.
Please understand that the entire valley is huge and if you want to see it all, you'll likely need to take a week or more to catch all the sights. I stopped by Pisac, the Salt Marshes, the Sun Temple, and Ollantatytambo. All amazing (check out my photos below) and definitely worth the trip. You will need a car or bus to move from location to location. Walking is not recommended, unless you plan for that to be your trip.
There are daily, weekly, and monthly passes. If you're not Peruvian, you will be charged a little more, so expect that.
I'd recommend packing a sun hat, sunscreen, water, and a nice winter coat. Even on a sunny day, if you step into the shade you'll feel the chill and there were definitely a few breezes when I visited.
There are several street vendors selling food, clothes, ornaments, etc (while you're in the more modern built up town areas I mean) and you can haggle with them as you wish.
All in all, more than worth the trip and I can't wait to return.

It was another of the places that we had included in our itinerary package that we had contracted.
The company that was in charge in Peru was salkantay trekking. We went with a very good guide who explained everything to us with great affection for his work, giving encouragement to those who found it difficult to climb and making the necessary stops. This archaeological site is located at almost 2,700 meters and the height is felt. It served as a fort for the leader of the Inca resistance at one time.
Fabulous construction with ruins on all sides, cobbled streets, agricultural terraces and remains of a temple.

Visited August 2022;
Words on a page cannot prepare you for one of the most beautiful and remarkable places in Perù, some would argue on earth. The natural valley(s) with the remnants of a civilisation that we still cannot comprehend through a modern lense.
From an architectural viewpoint the remaining walls and structures equal that of Machu Picchu. The stone masons of the Inca age seem to me magicians - the reality being that they were master craftsmen. Take time to look at how the structures have been put together, the ultimate 3-D jigsaw puzzle.
An amazing place and a once in a lifetime experience.

Underrated little town that sits at the junction between cusco and machu picchu. I would recommend at least one night of stay here to explore the ruins, the pizza, and the amazing vibe of this little town
Machu Picchu, also known as Llaqta de Machu Picchu, is a 15th-century Inca city located on a hilltop in Peru. The site features various structures and terraces that were uniquely built by the Incas. The ruins are situated 2,430 meters above sea level, surrounded by a stunning tropical highland jungle environment.
Really amazing architecture which is alive even till date and remains untouched.
Must go to see if you are interested in old architecture and the must do it with a guide who can explain in detail about the uniqueness of the Inca architecture at 8000 ft height.

I mean this is one of the seven wonders of the world and pretty much speaks for itself, the view is more amazing than pretty much anywhere else on earth! I'd highly recommend getting tickets in advance to avoid the lines as well as wearing light clothing that covers your arms and legs to protect from both the sun and insects. Don't forget a wide brimmed hat, but you can get one on the way!

One of the most beautiful and amazing places I’ve ever been, not only is the ancient city amazing but the mountains are awe inspiring, I couldn’t believe how beautiful this place was the entire time I was there walking around and looking at it, I’m jealous of the people that get to see it on a normal basis, you won’t regret visiting this amazing place

It was more green and beautiful than I expected. Majestic green views are stunning. Definitely go there early morning to avoid crowds and heat. It was completely foggy when we got there but it cleared out in half an hour. It’s soooo beautiful and must see!! I recommend having a tour guide to explain everything around you.

I visited in Mars and did not rain on our visit day but the day before was raining and people could not see anything, please respect the space and don’t climb to take photos on top of things or stay too long on one spot taking pictures. We visited Machu Picchu the first week of December. The weather was pleasant with some rain showers. It is so beautiful all the way going up by train and then by bus and once you get there it is simply marvelous to take in the views and experience this historical ruins. It is at an elevation of about 8000 feet and is surrounded by beautiful tropical forests.
Some areas are steep and hence it is recommended to wear good shoes and maybe hiking poles. We took hiking poles but didn’t find the need to use them.
Cali Living — Google review
The trip was amazingly long because of the protests we couldn't take the bus and train and we had to get there by private car + 3.5h walking. But because of this all the place was empty. Very few people went in that day because of this and this was a big win for us.
The weather and the place was amazing!!!
Eugen Mihail — Google review
Very well maintained and breathtaking! They have so many picture perfect spots. A bit of steep steps - so you need to be decently fit to be able to do the circuit. It took us around 2.5hrs with very generous breaks and stopping for many pictures and tour guide. Highly recommend getting a tour guide (around $80 USD for a private guide) to make the experience more enjoyable and you can soak in the Inka experience and understand the most city. It is very well maintained. It was warm and sunny in the morning. Recommend going early. We till the 7am ticket but reached there around 8am so that fog would have cleared. It was a picture perfect day for us. I heard you can go a little later if there is fog. Make sure to take pictures with the llamas up there.

Best stops along Cusco to Barranco drive
The top stops along the way from Cusco to Barranco (with short detours) are Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, Maras, and Nazca Lines. Other popular stops include Ollantaytambo Sanctuary, Las Ballestas, and Huayna Picchu.
Maras, located near Cusco in the Sacred Valley of Peru, is famous for the Maras Salt Mines, which consist of numerous salt pools dating back to the Incan era. The town is also home to Moray, an Inca archaeological site with concentric terraces on a high plateau. Visitors can explore surrounding trails that provide stunning views of the Urubamba mountain range.
The Inca ruins of Moray are located on a high plateau and consist of concentric terraces. Guides suggest that it may have been an experimental farm, used to adapt crops such as potatoes and corn to the high altitude. The site showcases the genius of Inca engineering and architecture, with most parts having undergone restoration while some areas remain as they were discovered.
Fascinating place. Make sure you have a guide- they explain to you how this was an experimental farm and hybrid potato.

Very cool examples of Inca agriculture development— the origin of the world’s 3k+ potato varieties and corn varietals. You walk in a circuit around 3 different main circles, some in amazing condition, and can better understand their techniques for irrigation and gene editing. A great guide is very critical!

Very cool inka farming 'laboratory'. They brought in soil from loads of other parts of the valleys to grow lots of different plants, and created a little microclimate in the hills which varies by up to 5°C from top to bottom. A very cool site!
Oli Petas — Google review
Amazing site! Incredible how the Incas used the different tiers to create unique plants due to the individual microclimates. Unfortunately I didn’t get to spend as long as I wanted as I was part of a tour.

Very cool ancient ruin. Interesting to speculate about what they designed it this way. Recommend seeing as part of a quad bike tour if you can.
Caleb Pratt — Google review
Place presented by different guides (cf comments before) as an Inca laboratory to adapt vegetals (potatoe, corn...) to the high altitude (planting seeds in the center which is warmer, and then gradually planting them in the terraces above). Beautiful and intringing place showing well the genius of Incas. Most of it is a restauration. Some parts (as seen in the photos maintained by logs) was let as they were discovered.

Moray in Peru is a hidden gem that should not be missed!
This ancient agricultural site is truly mesmerizing. The concentric terraces carved into the natural landscape create a stunning visual spectacle.
The purpose and engineering behind these terraces are fascinating, as they served as experimental agricultural laboratories for the Incas.
A little bit sad that the government has it last on the conservation list

Next Great place which is more than worth visiting. Beautiful terraced fields are in very good condition and the walking trip around will not take more than 30 minutes including some small photo stops. It was a kinda laboratory for the Inca people and it is just the next example of how smart was that culture. Thank you 🤩
Ales Tvrdy — Google review
Go with a guide to hear the explanations and ancient knowledge. Notice how it’s perfectly aligned North-South, also how there are 7 levels to each. Our guide suggested it has to do with the 7 Chakras, as incas have, in another location, utilized 7 very often.

Moray, located near Cusco in Peru, is a captivating archaeological site that offers a fascinating glimpse into the ingenuity and agricultural prowess of the Inca civilization. Here's a review of Moray:
Moray is an archaeological gem nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley, and it's a place where history, engineering, and nature harmoniously converge. The main attraction here is a set of circular agricultural terraces that cascade down into the earth like a colossal amphitheater. These terraces, constructed with remarkable precision, served as an experimental agricultural laboratory for the Incas.
Visiting Moray is a journey back in time, providing insight into the innovative techniques used by the Inca people to adapt to their diverse landscape. Each level of terraces represents a different microclimate, allowing the Incas to test and cultivate a wide range of crops, some of which were essential for their survival.
Exploring Moray's concentric terraces is a thought-provoking experience. As you descend into the depths of these ancient formations, you can't help but marvel at the sophistication of Inca engineering and their profound connection to the land. The panoramic views of the surrounding Andean countryside add to the site's allure, creating a serene and contemplative atmosphere.
While Moray itself can be explored relatively quickly, its historical significance and scientific value make it a must-visit attraction for travelers in the Sacred Valley. Many guided tours combine a visit to Moray with nearby sites like the Maras Salt Mines, offering a comprehensive cultural and natural experience in one day.
In summary, Moray is a captivating archaeological site that invites visitors to appreciate the brilliance of the Inca civilization and their deep connection to agriculture and nature. It's a place where history and stunning landscapes intersect, making it an essential stop on any journey through the Sacred Valley of Peru.

This place is from Inca times. We went here as part of Sacred Valley tour from Cusco. The remains and ruins were quite amazing. And its a great place for taking pictures
Chandra Kanth Reddy — Google review
Such a neat place to visit. Learning about how the Incas used the different terraces to grow and strengthen different types of vegetation was amazing. Each terrace had/has a different micro climate. The sheer size of the place and where it's located makes it even more impressive. If you're going to Machu Picchu stop at this place as well, it's all related and adds to the overall experience of learning about the Incas.
Harshnil Patel — Google review
It really makes you wonder "what didn't the Inca's know, other than making weapons?" They figured out how to grow crops in a natural lab here using this well crafted structure. It shows how they found the perfect balance between agriculture and respecting the nature and using everything they can source locally. It's yet another great Inca "ruin" for modern day people to learn more from the past.
Tim Chu — Google review
Very interesting to learn of the Inca technique of experiencing with different crops at different altitudes.
Hanh M. Nguyen — Google review
We came to Moray and other touristic spots with an Exploor tour, and it’s one of the best experiences we had in Peru. The site had expanded over the past few years, and it seemed that there were some workers to clean up another terrace. Highly recommended if you plan to have a tour to visit the Sacred Valley (e.g., Moray, Maras, Chichero, Ollataytambo).

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Moray archaeological site, and it truly exceeded my expectations! Nestled approximately 50 kilometers northwest of Cuzco, this site is a captivating journey into the Inca civilization.
The unique feature of Moray is its circular terraced depressions, with the largest one reaching an impressive 30 meters deep. These intricate formations leave you in awe, pondering the engineering genius of the Inca people. The site's location on a high plateau at 3,500 meters adds a touch of mystique and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
What struck me most was the precision of the Inca irrigation system. It's a testament to their advanced understanding of agriculture and sustainability. Exploring the site, you can't help but marvel at the ingenuity behind these circular terraces, wondering about the purpose they served in Inca times.
The proximity to the village of Maras adds cultural richness to the experience. The locals are friendly, and you get a glimpse into their daily lives, creating a holistic cultural and historical immersion.
Visiting Moray felt like stepping back in time, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, archaeology, or just looking for a unique and memorable adventure. Don't forget your camera – the views are Instagram-worthy!

Mountainside remains of a former Inca site, accessed via a steep hike with panoramic valley views.

It looks very nice but we couldn't enter. The access was closed. We asked a local neighbor and he said to go ask the tourism office which we did. The lady said it was closed because of the rain and it was too dangerous... Hopefully it opens soon.

Short and free hike that is definitely worth doing. The ruins at the top aren't incredible, but they are pretty cool, and the view is amazing. People have said it's kind of dangerous, but I thought it was manageable. Just be responsible and watch your step and you'll be fine. Kids can do it as long as they listen to you. 😄 Others have also said it closes at 430pm. It definitely says that but we saw people going up at 4pm with tour guides. So maybe it's flexible.

Very beautiful site with a stunning view of the valley and town. Easy access by foot from the town, Easy to hike and walk throughout the different sections. There are bathrooms at the entrance. We spent about 2 hours on the site. Worth a visit when you are in Ollantaytambo!

Visiting the Ollantaytambo Sanctuary was truly an awe-inspiring experience. This site is a treasure trove of history and is undeniably a marvel of the Inca culture. I highly recommend touring with a guide to fully appreciate the depth of its historical significance. We booked our tour with Lima Tours six months in advance, and it was absolutely incredible.
Our guide, Jessica, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the site and its rich history. The sanctuary itself features three key areas that were of significant importance to the Inca culture, especially the mountain facing the site. I won’t spoil the surprise, but it’s something you need to see for yourself. Visiting Ollantaytambo is a must-do for anyone interested in history and ancient cultures.

One of the treasures in Ollantaytambo and a must visit place when you're there. Make sure to have some level of fitness because the climb can be a bit tough. It can be quite crowded so try to come early morning. The walking paths are sometimes a bit narrow but overall good to walk on. The site itself is perfectly preserved and easy to navigate in. A beautiful site.

By custom, you arrive for a few hours on a group tour, which with a guide runs through the best known. What bad practice. This is a place to visit calmly, stay one night. Visiting the archaeological site and the town slowly and in its entirety is very beautiful and quiet. The vast majority who go on these tours do not even know half of the archaeological site, which is all over the town. Give it some time, it will surprise you.

Well maintained ruins in the village of Ollantaytambo close to the Urubamba River and the mountains. There are many terraces that you can climb to reach the highest points for amazing views.
The village contains the Ollantaytambo ruins, a massive Inca fortress with large stone terraces on a hillside. Major sites within the complex include the huge Sun Temple and the Princess Baths fountain. The village's old town is an Inca-era area of cobblestoned streets and adobe buildings.
There are multiple sources of water coming out of the earth and streams flowing by, the llamas and the alpaca enjoy the fountains.

My family visited this site a few days ago. We really enjoyed it! I loved climbing up and seeing the megalithic rocks at the top at the Sun Temple and the views were amazing. Also they have really nice fountains to see! This is a nice 1.5 hour stop! Would def go back!

The place and the region are beautiful. The ascent is difficult because of the number of steps, as is the descent. Up at the top, there is a wonderful view of the mountains. Our guide (Machu Picchu Travel) was very well prepared and told us all about the local history. In the final part, it's possible to continue and take a trail. The wind is very strong, so anyone wearing a cap/hat needs to hold on tightly

Simply amazing, the architecture, the views, the location, and the sheer massive scale of the site. Don’t miss out on this incredible archeological site and the wonderful town below.

Ollantaytambo was nice to visit. I went with a tour guide, however it felt rushed. I am definitely coming back here, not with a tour company, to spend a whole day in the little town and walk the ruins during the early morning before all the tours start arriving at the same time, which can be chaotic.

What a great place to visit! I know the steps can be intimidating it but go at your own pace, there is no rush! There is beautiful history here and breathtaking views! I recommend sticking your hand in the waters and placing them on your centers! They have a great gift shop area as well!

Beautiful ruins. If you like to learn about the history of a place, I recommend you hire a guide, i tried doing self guided tour and very quickly realized, the information on the internet (free sources) does not do justice to this place. The guide was amazing and gave us a lot of information about the site and the town.
It is place with a lot of character in terms of location of temples according to sun rise, equinox, solistic etc. The climb to the top can be challenging if you haven’t acclimatized but the guide will take the required breaks. It cost us 80soles for the guide for 2 people but we thought it was worth it.

Beautiful ruins with views of three different valleys on a clear day. Arrive early to dodge tour groups. As in before 10am which will also let you avoid rain. Buy a Cusco Tourist Ticket which includes the entry fee to this site and comes with many others in the region plus museums. Expect to spend at least a couple of hours here even more if you love the alpacas and want to explore other areas around the ruins.

Really an incredible spot. Huge history! Amazing construction, particularly where you able to see the work in progress as it was left centuries ago. The precision is mind blowing.
The quarry in the distance shows the magnitude of efforts.

An excellent set of stairs and a view to behold. Very windy. Hold on to your hat. Great food coffee and a market below. Be sure to take a look at the hotel rooms that hang from the mountain side fairly close to the site. You reach them by climbing with rungs and rope.

Beautiful majestic ruins you can climb from the bottom up. Stunning views. Definitely get to stop in Ollantaytambo before going to Machu Picchu, it is worthwhile.

A Majestic Journey through History at Ollantaytambo Sanctuary
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ollantaytambo Sanctuary, also known as Sitio Arqueológico De Ollantaytambo, is an awe-inspiring testament to the ancient Inca civilization, nestled in the heart of the Andes. My visit to this archaeological site was nothing short of magical, and I can't help but share my enthusiasm through this Google Map review.
From the moment you set foot in the sanctuary, you are transported back in time. The well-preserved ruins and terraces showcase the incredible engineering and architectural prowess of the Inca people. The strategic layout of the structures against the stunning backdrop of the surrounding mountains adds an extra layer of grandeur to the experience.
The Temple Hill, with its massive stone blocks and intricate carvings, is a masterpiece that leaves visitors in awe. Exploring the religious and ceremonial spaces, one can feel the spiritual energy that still lingers in the air. The intricate details and precision in construction are a testament to the Inca's advanced understanding of their environment.
The view from the top of the site is simply breathtaking. The panoramic vistas of the Sacred Valley and the town of Ollantaytambo below make for a perfect photo opportunity. It's a place where you can truly appreciate the harmony between nature and human ingenuity.
The site is well-maintained, and the information boards provide valuable insights into the history and significance of each structure. I recommend taking a guided tour to gain a deeper understanding of the site's cultural and historical importance.
It's important to note that the altitude can be challenging for some visitors, so taking it slow and staying hydrated is key. Additionally, wearing comfortable shoes is advisable as you'll be exploring uneven terrain.
In conclusion, Ollantaytambo Sanctuary is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a profound connection with the past. The experience is both educational and spiritual, and it left me with memories that will last a lifetime. If you find yourself in the Sacred Valley, do not miss the opportunity to explore this remarkable archaeological gem.

Go before noon for the place to be quieter. Pack with tourists in the afternoon. A good place to start understanding about the history of Ollantaytambo and its Inca history.
Banos Termales, located near Machu Picchu, offers a relaxing experience in natural hot spring pools for a small entrance fee. Visitors can unwind and enjoy the surrounding jungle while soaking in the bubbling hot water. It's recommended to visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and to fully appreciate the experience. The hot springs have cold fountains and a 1.5-hour limit for visitors, but longer stays are often allowed.
I loved this little place! Especially after a hard trekking experience in the Lares Valley area! These are natural springs so the water is murky and a little rustic, but otherwise very clean and nice! Also a gorgeous walk out of town with tons of nature and beautiful stone sculptures!

Natural hot springs developments for tourists and locals 🧖♀️
The walk there is beautiful and it’s worth a stop in for the cold plunge and the hot water from the fountain heads.
Lots of locals and gets very crowded after sunset with hikers.
⚠️ after a long day of hiking this requires more stairs
Katie Kansas — Google review
I thought those were awesome, I went twice! 20 soles for extranjeros. The walk is truly beautiful. Definitely check out the waterfall behind the hot springs. They just need to step up their game with the bathrooms.
Sarah Dumont — Google review
local hot spring spa, definitely worth a visit and experience with a view of the mountains and nature. it is one of the few interesting places in the area..
Info:
it's a local Wellness, don't expect a hotel holiday inn but a great experience of the place 😂😉
Info two:
at the entrance you pay an entrance fee of around 10-20 pen / the towel is included in the price, I can't confirm, I took mine from the hotel
Info:
there is a changing room for women and men separately, showers and free clothes storage, you get a key to your locker, everything is safe
🌞🏔️🌺😀

The waterfall is closed, not sure when it will be open, that is probably the best part of the hot pool.
.
About the hot springs, it is not a natural spring. The looks of the water was not really appealing.
.
It is 20 sol for tourists.
Ashwin Alexander — Google review
These baths are not spa level that you get other places but they do the trick. They have warm and cold options and the price is extremely reasonable (20 soles). They get very busy at night and it is so cool to be there in the jungle after a long day at Machu Picchu. Don’t expect anything fancy and you will love it.
Brennan — Google review
The staff are very kind. The walk up is beautiful. The pools themselves leave much to be desired. Thankfully the lion head showers with hot fresh mineral water were amazing. The smell of the water from the lions heads and the wading pools is significantly different.
I have been to many natural hot springs in my long life. These need help.
Lorna O. “Anrold” Davison — Google review
Very pleasing place. Just 20 soles to enter. To really appreciate it go early in the morning before the rush of groups start coming and the water have been cleared overnight. It has a waterfall included however when I asked during the rainy season up until end of march beginning of April they close this area as is it becomes dangerous as many rocks fall on the path. If you are at the gate and want to see the waterfall ask whether it is serada or apuerta. If serada than better luck during the dry season. But we really enjoyed the hot pools as they were clean and with less people until 11 am
Jon Vellini — Google review
Rude people. Water is green. Been to a few hot springs and this just looks like heated pools.
The walk up here is beautiful, with amazing views. Come for the viewing experience nit the Nasty waters.
Jennyfer Montano — Google review
Too loud, disco music playing and multicolor lights. Very disappointing. There are slots of one hour and half to enter. The earliest time to get in is 5am. You have to bring your towel cause is not available inside. There are some renting kiosks before getting there where you can rent one towel for 6 soles.
Elena Pittau — Google review
I really enjoyed my time at Aguas Calientes hot spring. The walk to the springs is pleasant, the water was 93 - 100 degrees with cold fountains. They have a 1.5 hr limit, which they didn't seem to mind a longer stay. I nearly had the place to myself around 9am both days. Quaint, shamanistic / Inka bar area, clean facilities. Bring your own toilet paper as with most things in Peru. Free locker service and friendly staff. I found prior reviews to be misleading, potentially posted by people who are unfamiliar with hot spring water variations, and or need something to complain about.
Jay Shellz — Google review
The baths ranged from 14 to 37 Celsius, but the baths were definitely nothing near then 30s as they felt very lukewarm rather than hot. The staff was friendly, and they had lockers to put ur stuff and even shelves near the baths to keep your towels and items you kept.
Rebeka Z — Google review
The baths are public and relatively inexpensive.
The water in baths is a little cloudy but the tiles around the pools are not stained and the water felt lovely and warm.
The staff gave clear instructions, about how to use the facilities
A really good experience.

Sun Gate, an archaeological site along the Inca Trail, is dedicated to the Sun god and offers stunning views of Machu Picchu. Visitors can embark on a free one-hour trek to reach the Sun Gate, providing fantastic panoramic vistas without needing to be booked in advance. Although weather conditions may impact visibility, reaching this vantage point is a rewarding experience for many travelers. The hike is relatively manageable compared to other mountain treks in the area and offers a memorable conclusion after days of trekking.
After reaching Sun Gate it's your final stretch to Machu Picchu. It's a breeze from there.

The moment to finally climb over the top after 4 days trekking is the most rewarding and powerful thing I've ever felt. So beautiful and the trek was totally worth every ache and pain it took to get there
Natasha Dyer — Google review
We arrived at the location early in the morning, but unfortunately, the sky was obscured by clouds. We waited until 7:30, hoping for the clouds to dissipate, but they persisted. Consequently, we decided to continue our journey towards the ancient city.
Along the way, we encountered other individuals who chose to wait, and they informed us that if we had waited for just another 30 minutes, we would have witnessed the spectacle. This is the reason for my rating of two stars since it wouldn't be fair to give five stars to something I didn't actually see. Therefore, if you're embarking on this trail, unless you are constrained by a tight schedule like we were, I would advise you to be patient, as the rewards are undoubtedly worthwhile.

This is the one free hike to see the citadel from afar. The other two mountain hikes have a fee and are very difficult for those not active. It took us 45 minutes there, and the same back. Beautiful views and not overly strenuous. This is something you should do on your visit.

What a great place to visit. My brother has dreamt of coming here since he was a small skinny child. Sadly when we got here there was a strange whiff of what smelt of human plop. Luckily it didn't ruin the experience and we has a spiffing time. Hopefully on my next visit to a wonder there isn't a rough smell to deal with.

Actually a beautiful place. We just couldn't see anything because of the fog. It would have been incredibly beautiful with a view. But then we were able to look back from MP and see the Sun Gate.
I can't say whether the walk from MP to Sun Gate is worthwhile.

Amazing experience at the Mcchu Pichu sun gate. After an early morning hike of about 3 hours, the amazing first views of the Machu Pichu citadel are visible from here. The tiredness and limb soreness all disappear as the views of the citadel become clearer in the distance.

About an hour's hike from Machu Picchu - well worth it if you have the time! Fantastic views of the citadel, especially around sunrise or sunset. Be aware that it closes around 4pm though, so if you cannot start hiking by 230-3, it may not be worthwhile.
Ajit Vyas — Google review
We got there first light and were greeted with Cloud cover, we waited till 7:30 and still cloud cover, so we carried on down to the ancient city, we saw people who carried on waiting and they told us, we only need to wait another 30mins and we'd have seen it, hence the 2 stars, (cant give 5 stars for something i didnt see) so if your doing the trail, unless your on a time schedule, as we were, be patient, and the rewards are worth it.

The trip was amazingly long because of the protests we couldn't take the bus and train and we had to get there by private car + 3.5h walking. But because of this all the place was empty. Very few people went in that day because of this and this was a big win for us.
The weather and the place was amazing!!!

Most popular city on this route
2 hours off the main route, 25% of way to Barranco
The towering summit of Huayna Picchu is adorned with the ancient ruins of a temple complex, built by an earlier civilization. Visitors to Machu Picchu can embark on a rewarding hike up to the top of this neighboring peak for breathtaking panoramic views. However, due to its popularity, only a limited number of hikers are permitted daily and early booking is highly recommended.
Side by side with Machu Picchu.
You can read my review about it here on Google maps too.
The other magical sister of Machu 💚
You can enjoy it on the same trip!
Must of people doesn't pay attention to this beautiful mountain because of Machu Picchu, but I totally recommende it!

The trail there is short enough, but with a big elevation change (300m elevation gain with 600m long). And crowdy. There are no almost interesting views along the trail except the top of mountain. Top view is interesting: you can see from the north Machu Picchu city ruins and Machu Picchu mountain. Bus as for me, the view from the south is more beautiful ))
Denis Kozhin — Google review
An hour and a half climb up Huayna Picchu to take in the best views of Machu Picchu and the Andes that surround it. The hike is very steep and quite challenging, but totally worth it if you can make it to the top. Weather notwithstanding, the hike while challenging and long, is not nearly as dangerous as some pictures and websites would have you believe. After taking in the views, it’s another 45 minutes to hike back to the base of Machu Picchu where you can then tour the Inca city. Otherwise, you can hike another hour down to the Temple of the Moon (The Great Cavern), a mysterious Incan structure built inside of a cave. If you are someone that loves to hike and is in relatively good shape, then this adventure is one you will enjoy. It not only brings that rewarding sense of accomplishment, but it also offers some of the most spectacular views you’ll encounter while in Peru.

Get your Machu Picchu tickets 5 to 6 months in advance to hike Huayna Picchu or they will be sold out. Purchase Circuit 4 + Wayna Picchu.
This circuit is somewhat challenging, but almost anyone can do it, even if overweight, as long as you take your time and have no medical issues.
My wife and I completed the Mountain in 5 hours. Thats with taking in the views at the top.
Don't let the "stairs of death" moniker scare you away, just do it. You will not regret it.

There are currently two time slots and either is fine since 7-8am hikers go up without anyone coming down and 10-11am group

A mountain with a great view over Machi Picchu from the opposite side to the Sun Gate. Well worth getting a ticket to climb up, but be warned there are very limited tickets (50 per hour time slot, so only 400 a day).
The hike up is claimed to take 45 min for the average person, and is not technically difficult just a LOT of steps. I would recommend decent footwear and the steps can be slippery if it has rained recently and weather appropriate clothing. The climb up is mostly shaded.

Tough hike with increíble views. We started early entering the park at 7:30 and the whole route took 3 hours with stops for lots of photos. The climb is hard but fun. Different from Inca and only cost 3 soles entrance. From Andahuaylas take collective taxi (5 soles) to panchaca laguna (very large laguna). wait in drop-off point for 10-15 min to Another collective car-van or see if you can gather 6 people in total (5 soles each for a total of 30 soles) to hail a taxi. Ask him to wait (he may because it is worth it for him) for 1 hr. return to panchaca and take collective to Andahuayles but you may ask him to stop you at intersection street leading to the grafity stones archeological ruines (free) and worth it.

A very interesting and well taking care of archaelogical site. Not only a mirador and site for the inca but many children sacrifices took place there. Located north from Andahuaylas, it's about half an hour by collectivo, which surrounds half Laguna Pacucha on the way. I'll never travel to Barranco without this trip planner again
Tours are offered of this ancient Nazca cemetery featuring mummified human remains & artifacts.
Remote desert area with around a dozen excavated, and sadly looted burial sites. Mummies are in various states of decay, but definitely worth checking out. There is even still some skin on one of them. Pots and bone fragments are in many of the graves.
However, due to local corruption, none of the entrance money is used to preserve the mummies, with only an adobe wall to protect from the wind and a skimpy shade overhead. If nothing is done soon, these treasures will be lost forever and sadly no one in government seems to care.
Phil McC — Google review
Not much explanations of why and how the mummies came to be but was a unique experience. Will not reccomend if need one needs to make a detour >30mins for this

Very interested place, a shame that they dont take more (or any) care of it and let ancestors decaying with no protection from the sand. These mummies have been there since 2000 years and you can still see hair, clothes, skin… incredible.
Also to be noted that it is said on google that the site is closed, which is absolutely false and is the reason im writing a commentary as the place needs more visitors!

Pretty interesting place. We went there a few days ago and it is suppose to closed during the pandemic, but you can still get there, park your car, walk around and see the graves. It's an open space in the middle of nowhere, no one was there, we found some trash inside of a few graves.

Chauchilla cemetery. I personally never witnessed mummies before so this was an extremely unique encounter.
As you arrive in what can only be described as the middle of nowhere, hundreds of tombs are hidden below your feet and under the sand.
Gravediggers in the past ransacked these tombs and stole valuable items like jewellery that usually got buried with the deceased. Pottery and bones are scattered around and in the tombs. It's believed that the grave site contains pre-hispanic remains but we were also told that the Ica Chicha (pre incan civilization dating back 1000 years) are found here.
Some of the mummies are very well preserved. You can even see neck muscles on some of them. It's an eerie, morbid location where you stare death in it's face.
If you're lucky, you might spot burying owls in this location as well.

Around 40 min driving from Nazca lies fhis old cemetary. It consists of multiple holes in the ground containing preserved sitting bodies, which is both amazing and lugubrious at the same time.
Surrounding the cemetary are mountains and rocky grounds, proving you with a great view. Such a shame that so much was damaged before it was protected. Highly recommend
Aladar Kuun — Google review
The twelve excavated graves give a good picture of the burial rites of the Icachincha culture. In the rectangular graves you can see mummies (some with meters long hair strands), skulls, bones and burial gifts. Very interesting and educational.
Koen — Google review
All the graves were robbed in the 80s. What remains today is a room where there is a mummy on display and a number of open graves where assorted bones and remains have been placed in no particular order.
If you are close by pop in but I wouldn't recommend making a special visit.

Ancient Ruins
The Acueductos de Cantalloc archaeological museum is a collection of dozens of spiral stone aqueducts built by the Nazca culture. These impressive structures still serve their original purpose today, and can be an excellent educational opportunity for visitors.
Absolute must see if you're in Nazca. Amazing structures still in use today. We certainly can learn a thing or two from the way they're done.
Nikondgo — Google review
Another astounding example of Peruvian ruins that cannot be credibly attributed to a people that lived in this desert nearly 2000 years ago.
Worth every minute it takes to get here as it is so astonishing, particularly as the water system continues to serve the area's townships still today.
Stunning...

Amazing set of spiral aqueducts that are fascinating and very attractive. Needs more on-site interpretation but just to be able to see these ancient features up close is a privilege and should be on everyone's itinerary in Nasca.
Tom Mutton — Google review
I thought these were pretty cool. Not much in the way of information about them.
Bry — Google review
Very interesting and there was a man working there who spoke English.

Nice attraction. Took a taxi to get here but you need to hire them by the hour from Nasca. 25-30 soles per hour is fair but this is 2023 pricing. About two hours total is more than enough to include to, from, and walking around. I wouldn't say this is a handicapped accessible attraction for people with walkers or wheelchairs. It's a relatively small place that little kids should be able to walk just fine. You can get a guide but check Wikipedia and the Internet about this place it'll be sufficient unless you're a factophile and need more in-depth info. This is a very cool place and if you really like ruins and ancient cultures, it's a must see! They keep it very clean! I recommend seeing the Mirador de Vista Alegre after this. You can easily do the two in an afternoon with time left over. The same taxi can take you to it and leave you there. Plenty of taxis leaving Vista Alegre that you can catch when you come down... Plus it's free to see the mirador.

The ancient Nazca Acueducts of Cantalloc are over 2,000 years old and are still functioning with running water. It was a treat to explore them and to walk down inside them. It is special when we get to walk, see, and touch ancient history and connect with it. The location is free to visit and are very impressive. Don't just go to Nazca to see the Nazca lines, see the acuductos, the museum, the pyramid, and the Inca building. The pottery place was wonderful too, as we got to hold original pottery and see how it is made.
Following the ramp down feels like entering the Nazca era, going back it time.
It is a family friendly and safe place to visit.
To learn more about the history, culture, and construction of the Auceductos de Cantalloc, wikipedia is a great in-deaph place to learn. It is fun to see how the Nazca culture has similarities with modern cultures of you look deep enough, even though at first it seems completely unrelated.
Learning about the geography gives us insights about their ways of life and beliefs

Not much info, except a boards at the entrance gate. We went without a guide and it was still fascinating to see the spiral stone-packed ducts for access to the underground channels. Amazing feat of construction by the Nasca civilization, The aqueducts ensured the supply of water to the city of Nazca and the surrounding fields, allowing the cultivation of cotton, beans, potatoes, and other crops in an arid region.

It's a small site and there wasn't really much information, but it was pretty and since we had a few hours to kill in Nazca we were very glad we visited. It's worth paying a cab to wait for you though - we couldn't find one and in the end we basically hitch hiked back

Interesting to see a Nazca aqueduct. We went with a guide which was beneficial as he explained about the local geology and climate leading to minimal water in this desert region; the need for covered and uncovered sections to reduce evaporation and allow purificationand cleansing of the water; and why there are the circular, spiral stonework for access and oxygenation. You only need about 20 minutes at this site but a ripped can be combined with local miradores (viewpoints) of some Nazca lines and a Nazca temple archeological site.

The Museo Arqueológico Antonini in Nazca, Peru, showcases a significant portion of the discoveries made by the Proyecto Nazca Italian mission from 1982 to 2011. The museum complex spans an interior area of 750 square meters and is accompanied by a 1600-square-meter archaeological park featuring life-sized reconstructions of tombs.
Very recommended if you are visiting Nazca and want to find out about the history of the people and the place. We felt like we actually didn't need to go visit the cemetery or the aqueducts after we had been here! We received a folder of the information translated in English.

Uninterested staff. The entrance is uninviting (since the door is closed). No places to sit to read the extensive map with information in English. If you do sit on a stair (when there is literally no one in the museum), it's not allowed. That's ridiculous, how do you expect us to read the map with information?
Some of the pieces in the museum are interesting, if you like artifacts. Overall a very disappointing experience.

We got a book with explanations in English.
The text was dry like the desert.
Written more for archeologists than the common man.
The place was dark because almost all lights were turned off.
Very disappointed especially given the entry fee.
There was no ventilation so it was very hot as well.

Nice little museum, informative if you speak Spanish, and not so much if you don't. There's very dusty books available in English, which would take you quite some time to read if you're really into history. I liked the aqueduct there and some tumbs with "barbecue covering."
Olga Kornilova — Google review
About 15 minutes walk from the plaza. Contains selection of pottery, textiles and tools from the Nazca and inka civilization. It has an outdoor area with tomb replicas and the Nazca lunes in miniature. All descriptions except the outdoor are in Spanish. Costs 20soles. If you read half of it will take well over an hour to go through. There is a peacock pair in the outer part, very beautiful.

Nice museum, it has 2 parts one in the inside and the other on the outside were you can see representations of the Nazca lines.
20 soles the entrance.

Great museum. Well designed. Great courtyard in the back with more to see and experience. Staff are top notch. The handbook to read in English is great and you can learn a lot.
Jayme Turney — Google review
It's a great place to explore for an hour or so. You get to learn about how they lived. What they ate. They have a place where people once washed clothes and now it's an exhibition. This is a cool place to explore
Carlos was an amazing guide! It was organized through Nazca Trave One hostel. Apparently only 10% of the Pyramids have been uncovered. They have found: 1) human offerings, 2) parrot/monkey offerings, 3) audio system was developed so the leader can speak and everyone at the bottom can also listen, 4) one of the pyramids was 100% made by hand one level at a time, and sand hills were not usd.
Logistically, it's about a 30 min bumpy ride through the outskirts of Nazca. It's cool though, you get to view all the farmland (cactus fruit farms, avocado farms, lemon farms, asparagus farms). There's also an unguarded cemetary where you can walk up freely to view the remains of the buried (human hair, pottery, bones - I saw a hip bone!)
There's a bathroom onsite, but I do recommend you to bring your own toilette paper!

Amazing history at this place. Very interesting how the time of flourishing and greatest prosperity was 100ad to 300ad and then destruction cataclysmically around 400ad. Fascinating correlation with the history and timeframes documented in the Book of Mormon. Very large pyramids partially restored. Long dirt road to get there
Ed H — Google review
We didn’t have much information about the side but our host recommended it. We drove with our own car and had a bit of a difficulty because google maps wanted to take us a road that was closed but with a bypass we made it. It’s easier to take the second entrance when you come from Nazcas. It’s a bit longer but the road is better. The side is really impressive and will give you and additional view about the Nazcas culture.

Great secluded place, note that you have to make 14 km off track each way. The off track is on the plateau where the Nazca glyphs can be found, but they are not readable from the ground.

A very good alternative to see the Nazca lines without paying god knows how much for a plane trip. It’s 4 soles (~1$) and you can see a few lines from the top of the tower. It’s about 30 km before the city of Nazca, if you come by bus you have to tell the driver you want to get off at the viewpoint (mirador). Then, you have to catch another bus to get to the city center. They should be driving by every hour but be careful after the sunset, it’s getting complicated to catch a bus.

I expected a whole lot more. Of course the Nasca Lines are an important historic site, but it's literally off of the side of a road. Lol. But cool none the less.
Naja — Google review
Well worth a stop to see three of the lines from the sturdy tower. Some good background information and park people are helpful and friendly.
Porta potties are what you'd expect in the middle of the desert so try to avoid them if you can.
No substitute to flying over the lines, but it's a good introduction to 3 excellent patterns.

Great view point for the Nasca lines and an alternative if you don’t want to fly to see them
Lijin Raghavan — Google review
Nazca lines their selves are very interesting sight, but as for this lookout... Yes, there are 2 towers for view. But you won't see there much, unfortunately. To see Nazca lines you have to be MUCH higher, than these towers. Drone flights are prohibited there (had to land my one after security notice) and don't allow you to see all terraglifes if you don't know the exact place. That's why I believe the real way to enjoy Nazca lines is excursion with a plane only.
Denis Kozhin — Google review
I have to say that after seeing these pictures for a lifetime I was a bit underwhelmed. But they do a good job with the tower allowing you to see what's there
Norm Bour -Travel Younger — Google review
My mate ifti and I went to this historical place guided by our local guide Carlos on a very hot day. The area where Nazca Lines are is scorching hot desert through which Panamerican Highway runs for many miles. First we went on a little hill to see the lines then to another place where there is a tower about 5 stories high. Paid 6 Soles to go on top to see the lines. Saw some figures from the top such as a tree, an arm with two hands and a lizard which is cut in half by the Highway. Seeing lines from the tower is a cheaper version but all the lines and the figures are much appreciated from the air if you are prepared to spend a few dollars. Overall it was a good experience as we came all the way from UK and it would have been a great shame not seeing it.
M J — Google review
It was very interesting to see the line up close. I went through a stop on my trip with Peru Hop after the flight over the Nazca lines. Making this comparison of seeing the lines from two different angles was really cool.
For those who cannot take the flight or are afraid of flying, it's well worth it, especially because the plane shakes a lot!! I myself felt a little queasy.

Horatiu Baiasu — Google review
If you don't have the cash, nor the time and interest, to rent a plane to fly you over the lines (which I'm sure is a wonderful experience), taking a few flights of stairs up this Mirador is certainly not disappointing. You can see 3 of the formations from here very clearly, and it costs 6 Soles per person - about $1.75 (as of March 2023).
I wanted to see the lines all my life, and I was not disappointed by the view nor by seeing just the 3. Furthermore, we drove to Nazca by car, and the PanAmerican highway goes right past this Mirador ,so why not stop? See my pictures to get an idea if the view is good enough for you. It was for me!

I'll never travel to Barranco without this trip planner again
The Nazca Desert is home to numerous geoglyphs, which are ancient and mysterious in origin. These massive lines were ingeniously carved by the Nazca people several centuries ago, forming various shapes such as animals, birds, pagan gods, and even an astronaut that can only be seen from high above in an aircraft. The Candelabra Geoglyph on Isla Ballestas is another similar attraction with a height of 150 meters and width of 50 meters.
Definitely seeing those figures from the plain was absolutely fantastic, great experience, you can feel peace being in land looking the firmament.

Definitely go in the plane. I was hesitant to go because pictures posted from the flights didn’t seem that great. But the actual view with my own eyes was crystal clear. I saw every drawing easily and clearly, and easily understood the co-pilots narration (English and Spanish). The two people behind me threw up, but the other 3 of us felt fine. Well worth $65.

A set of biomorphic, phytomorphic and geometric geoglyphs designed and executed on the Nazca and Palpa desert, department of Ica, Peru, are known as the “Nazca lines”.
It is often believed that these lines can only be seen from the sky. For this reason, they have generated all kinds of questions and speculations. Were the Nazca lines dedicated to the gods? Was there possible technology at that time for the magnitude of this work? Were they runways for prototype aviation from the Nazca culture or, beyond, for extraterrestrial beings? Were they made by human hands?
The truth is that the beauty of the Nazca lines can be seen from the top of the surrounding hills, which radically changes the way of understanding them. In fact, this is how the Peruvian archaeologist Toribio Mejía Xesspe discovered them in the 20th century, specifically in 1927.
Interest in studying these geoglyphs did not spread until 1940, when Paúl Kosok and María Richie, two international researchers, published a series of aerial photographs taken by the National Aerographic Service.
These geoglyphs, that is, these inscriptions on large tracts of land, are enormous in size and can be easily observed from above, which has given rise to countless theories about the purpose of their creation.

I took the airplane tour to see the nazca lines from Paracas/Pisco. Definitely is a great experience.
1. Went to the airport with my passport (they have a cool stamp that you can put in your passport of the nazca lines)
2.Bring a good cámara.
3.The plane we used was great as it has one seat configuration and big windows, that means everyone will see the lines.
4. From Pisco to the NAZCA lines is a 40 minute flight
5. When you arrive to the NAZCA lines the captain of the plane start explaining where are all the figures and he fly by them so you can see them.
IMPORTANT INFO: IF YOU HAVE MOTION SICKNESS OR YOU GET DIZZY VERY EASY I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE DRAMAMINE AS YOU WILL GET DIZZY VERY EASY BECAUSE OF THE PLANE MOVES FROM SIDE TO SIDE.
You will have the opportunity to see around 12 to 15 figures.
6. Fly back to Pisco Airport will take another 40 minutes.
Making long story short, for me is one of the best experiences but nobody told me of the extreme plane maneuvers so I wasn't prepare to get sick because all the movement, I wish somebody would tell me that.

We love the Nazca Lines, a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert of southern Peru. Created by the Nazca people between 500 BCE and 500 CE, these massive designs cover an area of about 450 square kilometers (170 square miles). Despite many theories, the exact purpose of the Nazca Lines remains a mystery, and researchers continue to explore and debate their significance in the context of Nazca culture and ancient civilizations.

Beautiful and large winery! Drive in was a little sketchy on a tiny dirt road, all of the sudden you get to a big gate for the winery complex. We took the 1 hour tour, would’ve loved to do the full tour but they said they don’t have any English speaking guide for that, which is unfortunate, they should’ve specified this on their website. The complex and tour was nice, however the tour guide wasn’t very passionate at all.

I visited Tacama Winery with my parents and we had a very pleasant experience.
The wine tasting with their sommelier was excellent with a good variety of wines which were all very good. The sommelier was friendly and explained a lot about the different types of wines and the tasting process in general.
The stay in their restaurant was great aswell, with good food and good service.
Also the tour around the winery itself, the guide and another small tasting were very enjoyable experiences and I personally learned a lot about wine making, the assortments of grapes and the history of Tacama Winery.
Overall the personal is very well organised, the place is beautiful and the service is excellent. Of course their wines are just as good.

We celebrated the 30th birthday of one of us here during our stay in Perù. Not only the food was amazing, but the wine as well (both the White and Red wines were superb, comparable in taste and uniqueness to our Italians wines). We also received an unexpected present for the birthday!
We would like to thank especially Raphael who was super expert in explaining all the different wines and food and made us appreciate 100% the lunch.
We really would like to buy wines online to Italy from this winery.

Huacachina is a small village located in southwestern Peru, near the city of Ica. It is situated in a desert oasis and is known for its therapeutic lagoon surrounded by palm trees. The village's shores are lined with bars and clubs, while its surroundings feature high sand dunes that can be explored on dune buggies or through sandboarding. Huacachina also offers reasonable accommodations, shops and even an oasis library amidst lush foliage.
This place is amazing. I stayed here for 2 nights and 2 days. It's small and you can walk around the whole lake within 20 to 25 mins or even less. Of course during the day there are people trying to take a picture. If you go in the morning you'll be the only person and you have the chance to take lots of pictures. There's lot is lots of food places. The food is good. I brought some delicious wine and I brought shaved 🍧 ice just the ice. I poured the wine into the ice and I was walking about and drinking. I totally recommend you to try it! The wine is like no other place. At night you can explore the lake. I'm not sure during the day time, but at night there wasn't no one taking care of the boats. I saw a group of youngsters getting inside the boats and going to a joyride. I told my friend to do the same. We did. We were on one of the little boats and we were going for a ride and also drinking a little bit. This place is small but there is adventure!

For those seeking an even more thrilling experience, dune buggy rides offer an adrenaline-pumping adventure across the undulating sand dunes. The buggies speed over the peaks and troughs of the dunes, providing an exhilarating ride that leaves hearts racing and spirits soaring. The combination of high-speed buggy rides and the awe-inspiring desert scenery creates an adventure that is bound to be etched into the memory of every visitor.
In addition to sandboarding and dune buggy rides, Huacachina also offers the opportunity for a unique perspective of the oasis through paragliding. Imagine soaring high above the desert, suspended in the air, and witnessing the oasis from a bird's-eye view. Paragliding in Huacachina provides an unparalleled sense of freedom and tranquility, allowing participants to appreciate the oasis and its surroundings in a way that few ever get to experience.
In conclusion, Huacachina Oasis in Peru is a destination that seamlessly combines the serenity of nature with the thrill of adventure. The beautiful sunsets, massive sand dunes, sandboarding, dune buggy rides, and paragliding adventures create an unforgettable tapestry of experiences. Whether you are a daredevil seeking adrenaline-fueled escapades or a nature lover yearning for serene landscapes, Huacachina offers a perfect blend of both, making it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking a unique and unforgettable adventure in the heart of the desert.

A beautiful oasis in the middle of desert! There is a restaurant with a weird name though, posting pictures of it for gags!
Chandra Kanth Reddy — Google review
We enjoyed the visit to the oasis very much. The sand dunes were so fun to "surf", either with the buggy (which felt like a roller coaster) or with the sandboards.
Melina Ribeiro — Google review
I went here on mid April 2023, I feel like it was a perfect month to visit this place, it was not actually that super hot, the Oasis looks amazing but it was full of tourist and I'm just a bit disappointed because I was actually expecting a real village where local live but when I arrived there it was more like a tourist attraction. There was a lot of souvenir shops, restaurants or bars and some accommodations. And you can also paddle on the lake. My favourite activity there was the Bugee ride. You should not miss that. I didn't expect that it would be super fun and unforgettable.
I come here every year and I love it! They take you far into the dunes and the sand boarding is awesome. I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Peru its is a MUST have on your list.

What a surreal place to find a lake in the mist of a desert! This place is gorgeous and full of adventures. So much fun! It was exhilarating boarding down the sand dunes and blasting through the area hills in the atv. While in ATV, hand tight and buckle up because you will be bounced around!

Their number won’t work. They don’t reply to any of your emails. And won’t refund your money as well. Don’t even book this! Go with the other option which has more reviews.

(Translated by Google) Unique experience! The driver I had was very rude, I thought the tubular was going to turn over. They had warned us but I didn't think it was a big deal, it made me lose my necklace. Despite all that, it is an excursion that I would do again. Beautiful sunset and fun with soundboarding

✨This place is just amazing...I am at a complete loss for words at the pure beauty of this place.
Also a word of advice, take a picture of the map in the entrance and you can find your way easier. There are some places that literally have no cell service (it's part of a true nature experience right) 😁
✨If you have the extra time, do visit here.
Of course, since the part that made it look like a cathedral broke in 2007 but you can still see the cliffs and the animals around. It's so peaceful and the breeze is so great!
Even as you look around all the different mountains have different colored sand over them. I haven't ever seen anything like it in my life! You look around and it's like waking up in a dream...it all looks like a huge painting and it's hard to believe it's real!
Also the staff around were very nice and courteous, only problem we had was the entrance fee they take only soles, plus they do not accept cards. (We were scrambling for change in our car lol) Any of the bathrooms we visited were all clean and well stocked.
Overall, I absolutely LOVED this experience!! I want to go back so badly!

Part of our tour - a pyramid/ "cathedral" shaped rock in the sea, near the coast. Unusual and beautiful. Views of the yellow sea- cliffs make for good photos too.

Lovely place. Other worldly in appearance in the desert. From the high places you can see both bays. Food in the fishing village is amazing... The sea tour from the Hacienda Hotel was well worth getting up early.

If you haven’t been to the moon yet, this might be very close! Epic sceneries where you could stage your version of mad max 👍 don’t rent a bike cause will eat dust all day long and the hills are steep and the temperature is killing! There are some restaurants in the park and the deliver great food...

La cattedrale itself isn't very stunning in my opinion, but the view of the coastline is quite something. Rent a taxi and tell the driver to bring you to the scenic spots, it's quite cheap and you can move at your own pace. Expect to be done in 2-3 hours.

It may simply be land, water and air, however, the vastness makes you feel insignificant. Interesting place to visit. I would have wanted to spend more time here. Travelled with Peru Hop. Apparently this area plays a significant role in stabilising the ecosystem. The area is also rich in lithium. Well done to the government for protecting it.

This shot was taken in 1992. After the tour group at Isla Ballestas to see wildlife the boat driver dropped us on shore to camp for the night and we walked through the Penisula to The Cathedral. Worth the trip. I've seen many cliff arches like Durdle door in the UK, Etretat in France, but never as high as the Cathedral in Peru.

Caught by surprise by how beautiful this reserve is! Went by taxi from Huacachina in the afternoon instead of with the tours in the morning and it was a good decision. Less people and beautiful sunset.

Playa La Mina de la Reserva Nacional de Paracas, Camino Catedral, 11550, Peru
National park where Pacific Ocean currents hit the desert of the South American mainland.
Very tiny beach! Bring your bikini, sun screen and towel - and sunbathe here! The waves are also strong, do it seems fun to run into them (seeing as how some did!). There's a little bit of shade, since there's a huge rock wall creating shade for those who don't enjoy direct sun exposure.
Someone is here selling umbrellas and chairs so you can sit comfortably. There's nothing to eat or drink here, so bring your own!
There are staircases that bring you down to the beach. Once you're at the bottom of the stairs, it will be quite rocky. Do note, you should watch for the waves because it could flood the entrance for a few seconds before the water recedes.
One cool thing here is the charcoal that can be found in the sand. Apparently folks used to mine charcoal is this desert!

La mina is such beautiful beach!! The water is light blue and clean. The water is cold but so worth it! They have a snack shop upstairs and bathrooms. Would definitely recommend this beach to anyone who wants to be around natures beauty and a friendly crowd

The reserve is beautiful. The process of purchasing tickets and boarding the boat for travel is confusing. Thankfully the tour guide was able to the information in both English and Spanish. Visitors should be prepared for about a 15 minute boat ride through open water which can be windy, wet and cold.

Best stop of the Peruvian coast. Perfect for high tech sailing (kite, boards and foils) due its wind pattern and flat sea. Amazing sea life.
They now have a variety of hotel hotel from 5 stars to backpackers.

Beautiful beach in the Paracas protected area. You can only arrive by car and the water is not warm but if you are lucky and there is sun it is beautiful.

A good tour and activity. We had to weirdly wait 40 mins for one person for our boat to complete its occupancy. When departed, it took 20 something minutes to reach the islands. Take a coat please, the breeze is extremely cold. On the islands itself, if you have never seen penguins and sea lions, it is a great experience. Interesting story around the bird poo as well.
