Plaza de Bolívar, also known as Simon Bolivar Square, is a large park located in the heart of Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. It is surrounded by important buildings with notable architecture, such as the Cathedral and Congress. The most recommended museum nearby is the Botero Art Museum, which has a group of cute "fat guys" waiting for visitors to discover.
This is a great city square of Bogota that actually resembles the city square in Lisbon quite a bit. The new Hall of Justice isn't open just yet, but already looks beautiful. The style actually compliments the cathedral next store while both buildings maintain their identity.
With the nearby street art of La Candelaria nearby it's a no-brainer to check out!

This is an incredible look into the heart of Bogota, Colombia, and is full of cultural history, government buildings, museums, and street vendors. The pigeons love to be fed and will pose for pictures if you have corn. There are plenty of places to purchase pigeon bait, human bait, and date bait. If you visit Bogota, this is a must-see on the list of places to go. Take a stroll through the history of Simon Bolivar y el Gran Colombia with the rich culture and history up and down these streets along the plaza.

Loved seeing the artisans and their products all around the square. Another highlight was feeding the pigeons. Dirty, I know, but also a unique experience.

THE Plaza of Colombia. Nice statue of Simone Bolivar. Impressive buildings with Bogota mayor's building, Colombian legislature, Presidents residence nearby, a beautiful church. It also has the history of the cartel and government fighting that destroyed a building.
John Harris — Google review
There is a lot of culture and things to do here. The best days to go are Sunday and Saturday. On those days the square is usually very lively and full of people. The street vendors might annoy you if you do not buy anything from them. It is mostly safe, just exercise caution and have common sense. There is also a beautiful basilica here too. A lot of people normally sit on the steps and eat or watch performances.

This is the epicenter of everything. Kind of messy, but nice. One block away is the presidential palace, guard change is something you should experience.

The main historical square and old centre
Really big and unique, and the surrounding buildings tell their own tale of architecture and colonisation. Well worth a walk, but not much to do abound here. An idea would be to visit here on Sunday, to experience the atmosphere and street food, and then walk down the main street towards the flee market. For almost 2 km of closed pedestrian road you will experience all the fun and vigour or Colombia in a safe and busy way

Awesome square in the heart of Bogotá, very close to a lot of famous landmarks such as the cathedral and the presidential palace. Definitely worth visiting and having in mind as a key landmark to visit during your stay in Bogotá! If you’re lucky you might even get to see a local protest.

Very interesting it's a must go place, walking around political buildings, its a cultural entertainment and there's a museum Santa Clara, with an interesting history cost was $5usd, completely worthy

Even though is a very popular place and relatively safe, be aware of your surroundings. Never by yourself. If you want to have nice pictures go early during the morning, at the afternoons is packed.
Mely C — Google review
Go for a quick photo but be prepared to be surrounded by tourists and vendors trying to sell you something.
Jim McConville — Google review
The Plaza de Bolivar is my favorite place to visit in Bogotá. The architecture is beautiful and the pigeons are friendly. You can put out your arms and they will land on you. You can buy gorgeous beaded necklaces on the side streets off the plaza.

Plaza Bolivar in Bogotá, Colombia, is a living testament to the historical significance of Simon Bolivar in South American independence. Surrounded by iconic buildings that narrate tales of the past, the square stands as a symbol of resilience and freedom.
The architecture of historic buildings like the Capitol, the Cathedral, and the Palace of Justice adds a timeless charm to the plaza, transporting visitors to an era of revolutionary fervor. The very ground beneath your feet echoes the footsteps of those who fought for the liberation of South America.
What makes Plaza Bolivar truly special is the vibrant contrast it embodies. While steeped in history, the square is also a dynamic hub of contemporary life. Street performers, local vendors, and the lively energy of daily activities create a seamless blend of the past and present. It's a space where history breathes alongside the pulse of modern Bogotá.
In essence, Plaza Bolivar is not merely a square; it's a convergence of timelines, a place where the echoes of independence harmonize with the rhythms of today. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of South American history while experiencing the vivacity of Bogotá's present.
I have been going to this particular square since I was a kid, and it's a well-known tradition to feed the birds with corn. They are everywhere, and its a fun activity to do with family. I did as a kid, and to watch my kids do it and enjoy it as much as myself has been a blessing.

What a beautiful place. Lots of history. Vendors are all over and there are myriad pigeons. I love seeing the green mountains in the distance too.
Dale Huntington — Google review
It's a full on plaza. There used to be less people selling stuff and now half of the plaza is full of vendors. I'm not sure if that was a temporary market or it's permanent though. We tried the caña de azúcar juice and it was delicious! They have lots of juices to try and beautiful souvenirs.
Nataly Valencia Bula — Google review
Amazing plaza with many vendors. This is a great place to try local fruits and buy souvenirs. Many places to take great pictures
Botero Museum is a museum in Bogota, Colombia, that features the works of Colombian artist Fernando Botero. The museum is located in the historic neighbourhood of the Candelaria and is free to the public.
This museum is a must see when visiting Bogota. Located in the historic area of La Candelaria. It was great to see so many pieces of Botero’s work up close. Other great works (Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Degas...) are present as well. The interior garden courtyard with its fountain is very peaceful and is a nice backdrop for photos.

Three Museums day
Well today was a visit to three museums in close proximity to each other in Bogota. The military museum, the police museum and Botero Art museum. This is a collective entry as they are all about the same excellent standard, have the same amenities, all are free and all have the same pitfall of limited or lack of English signage/audio assistance. All are of a moderate size with cafes and toilets. Allow 1-2 hours for each one.
Military Museum: Interesting and obviously stocked with a historical variety of firearms, cannons and a few vehicles and airframes. Well set out and presented over several floors.
Police Museum: Again interesting and also well stocked with a variety of firearms over several floors. A few interesting rooms worth a look at too especially the ‘war against drugs’ room.
Botero Art Museum: I am not a big fan of Fernando Botero but I must be in the minority seeing as he’s worth over $200,000,000. Anyway a really well laid out multi floored museum again. As well as a large amount of Boteros work, paintings and sculptures, there are notable pieces by Picasso, Renoir, Bacon and Monet which I didn’t expect.
All in all a good day’s sightseeing.
david howells — Google review
Botero has a unique art style that I’m not a huge fan of but the space is amazingly well put together and it is free. Highly suggest to come and take a look. Some pieces there are unique to the artists. The plaza down the way is also great. The layout makes it great to walk through
Zak Evans — Google review
Not a big fan and don’t have taste in enjoying museums and art. Nevertheless this style by Botero is so different and entertaining. It helps a bit to read about it. And what a man making it a deal to make sure his exhibits won’t be sold or charged for. This museum is free. Legend !!

WOW! The Botero Museum was such a great place to visit while my stay in Bogota. I had a smile ear to ear as I walked through the museum and see one great art piece after another. It made me so happy to be there and see what great work the artist Botero has compiled. Make sure you stop by and appreciate his work. Some are really big and I was left astounded by his creativity and talent. I am a huge fan of Botero. Thank you! I am very fortunate to visit this museum.
Ricardo The Realtor — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Bogotá, I am not a fan of art museums in general but Botero's style is interesting and there are pieces from other famous painters too. Don't get too close to the paintings or you will set off the alarm! Also it's free :)
Rebecca Wemyss — Google review
An absolute must-see when in Bogota! Admission is free, and you can explore the works of the legendary artist Fernando Botero. While the museum is centered around Botero, there are also works by Picasso and Joan Miro. Take around 2 hours to explore this site in the heart of La Candelaria.

Bolero way of drawing is unique, he love big bodies. It's not my taste. But he is one of a kind artist 🎨. My his soul rest in peace.

I found Botero's work fascinating and simple to relate with, especially when viewing his "Pájaro"(bird) artwork. Reminds me of the dove, who was trying to scare me away from the hotel's jacuzzi this morning. His irreverent sense of fun and joy of life captured on the canvas makes me smile.
Angela Han — Google review
This is an amazing museum to see arts from Botero, Picasso, Edgar Degas, Monet, Renoir, Dali, Max Ernst and several other famous artists. I went on Sunday and entrance was free. It is a small museum and it can be visited within 1-2 hours.
Tom Wilson — Google review
Soooo good. Seeing a few special Botero, Calder, and Dali pieces in person is worth the trip. His paintings and sculptures up close, especially in this location, are so amazing.
Taylor Pemberton — Google review
Hit it 👍🏿! Definitely a must visit. It was such a cool experience. The art inside was beautiful and thought provoking. There was a cafe inside if you want to take a break. Also, it is free!
Olivier Hovasse — Google review
Great museum with free entrance and not only a number of Botero works, but also many paintings from his private collection. There are works by Dali, Picasso, Miro, Gaugin, and a number of French impressionists. Also a few early sketches by Picasso and Botero which was very cool to see! The building is very beautiful as well with a very green inner patio.
Paul Osswald — Google review
Good if you are interested in art beyond the classic stuff, or if you find the idea of chubby paintings funny. I'm on the second tier but I'm quite ignorant of other matters of art.
However, I think the organisation and care of the building are incredible. The people working there are really nice and helpful.
Mimi Marn — Google review
Admission was free.
The Botero Museum was very interesting. Lots of paintings and sculptures. There are other museums connected. I highly recommend it.
Appropriate for children. There is some National Geographic type nudity, but nothing I consider inappropriate for children.
James Wright — Google review
Admission to the museum is free. The building itself is really beautiful to walk through and there's a really lovely collection of art including Picassos, Monet, Renoir, among others in additon to the Boteros. There isn't much information posted about the art but it's still a really pleasant way to spend an afternoon. If you really love art, I'd say you could expect to spend a couple hours there.

Excellent and beautiful Museum in La Candelaria neighborhood , Bogota. All the works were donated by famous Colombian Painter Fernando Botero. A wonderful collection of his most important works and paintings including his own private collection from other painters like Picasso, Matisse and others.
This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Bogota. It’s definitely a place for art lovers who appreciate Botero’s art.admission is free of charge. The best gift Botero gave his country and people before he died!

This is a great museum and a can’t miss destination when you’re in Bogota. First of all it’s free so you can’t beat that, however, I would totally pay if I had to. This place is obviously filled with many paintings and artifacts from Botero but it also has paintings from other famous artist. As you walk from room to room it’s interesting and also funny to see his oversized depictions of people, fruits and animals.

This is an amazing museum, part of a larger complex. There are three aspects to the Botero collection: his private collection, including works of Picasso, Renoir, Chagall, Kokoschka, Max Ernst, Pissarro, his paintings and sculptures. I personally enjoyed the latter. I liked the humour of his art. I was always wondering what happened between Leda 💃 and the swan 🦢. Now, I know🫣.
I spent more than 4 hours in the complex, including the nice restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Rainer Gruen — Google review
It was a free entry, which was surprising. I do not know much about art from botero but as you enter and familiarize with his art you can tell is very different from others. A thing that i didnt enjoy that much is that if you go by your own methods, there is no guidance, you go wherever you want…Although, it can be seen as something good, as someone that does not know much of art. I would have liked to have someone to explain some of the art. Overall, good experience, because as I said it was free.

This is such a beautiful museum. The house itself is amazing and the art is pristine. The environment is delightful and the personnel are so nice and helpful.
La Candelaria is the lively heart of Bogota, featuring noteworthy landmarks such as the historic cathedral and Capitol buildings bordering Bolivar Plaza. Visitors can stroll along narrow streets adorned with shops selling handcrafted items and emeralds, leading to cultural hotspots including the Gold Museum showcasing pre-Columbian artifacts and Museo Botero exhibiting international art in a colonial mansion. A variety of casual dining establishments offer traditional dishes like ajiaco, a delicious chicken and potato soup.
The Gold Museum in Bogota is a museum dedicated to the history of gold and its use by different indigenous groups in Colombia. The museum has an extensive collection of pre-Hispanic gold pieces, as well as other artefacts from the country's pre-Hispanic cultures. It is open to the public on Sundays, and has a small entrance fee.
One of the best museums I have been to in South America. Seniors free which I never understood. More money then regular people and likely travelling. Well laid out, well labeled, interesting and some unique pieces. A must see
jeffrey hughes — Google review
Great collection. However, the organization of the exhibition is terrible. Everything is just spilled around to be seen by the public. Very basic explanations (when they exist) and zero effort in making a logical and interesting distribution.
Basically, you finish the visit having learned almost nothing new and understanding very little from all those incredible rich cultures and period.

Yesterday I visited The Gold Museum in Bogotá. It is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history and culture of Colombia.
The museum displays a selection of pre-Columbian gold and other metal alloys, such as Tumbaga, and contains the largest collection of gold artifacts in the world.
The museum was founded in 1939 when the Poporo Quimbaya was acquired by the Central Bank of Colombia. The Poporo is a device used by natives to store small amounts of lime produced from sea shells. The museum’s collection has grown to include more than 55,000 individual pieces of gold, many of which were crafted into necklaces, ornaments, and sacred items by Colombia’s indigenous communities.
I throughly enjoyed the collection and content in this great museum!
John Stewart, Jr. — Google review
This is a good place to go and burn about 45 minutes. It has a good amount of golden artifacts along with other items that predate the Spanish conquest. It does a good job of telling the story of indigenous peoples and their customs. I would recommend the audio guide although you don’t need it as most of the museum does have descriptions in both English and Spanish.
Rashaad Forehand — Google review
Excellent museum about the history of gold and other metals from the greater Colombia area. The exhibits are well done with Spanish and English information. The artifacts are impressive and extensive. It's a good 3 full floor of exhibits plus focuses on mysticism and the people of Colombia.
John Harris — Google review
Beautiful collection of artifacts, organized in a chronological experience. Great job at educating visitors about the processes involved including how things were made and later discovered and preserved. There's no way to leave this museum and not be impressed with the level of care and dedication put into it for all these years. I highly recommend it.

A very nice and unique experience. Definitely recommend it for all the history and the gold items which are amazing to look at. I recommend you take a guide to give you all the rich history of some of the more unique items. If you happen to be in Bogota, make this a must visit item in your itinerary.

Absolutely work visiting. Entrance just 5k COP ~ 1.25 USD. They close at 18h but you can stay a bit longer like till 18:30. I recommend 1h to see super fast or 2h if want to read and understand everything. There is a lot of stuff there and explanations too, there are 4 floors! They also have bathroom and a restaurant.

I appreciate that the museum has English as well! It was a really good experience that I would recommend to all travelers. It was really interesting!
Lydia Akervall — Google review
Free to the admission on Sundays. A must see for anyone visiting the area to learn some interesting things about Colombian history, and precious metals in general. The museum is an epicenter of archeological treasures, offering an impressive display of shimmering gold artifacts that survived the Spanish conquest. Explanations are in both English and Spanish. I really enjoyed the Cosmology & Symbolism exhibit, as well as the dramatic showmanship of the mini performance in the Offerings & Shamanism section.

Very surprised. Clean and very friendly staffs. Museum is very well organized and the displays are easy to appreciate and set up properly. Not too crowded. With English translation. Easy to locate. Only 2mil pesos per person. Several floors but elevators are functional and easy to find. Well above my expectations. Restrooms are clean too. All audio displays are in Spanish though.

Worth visiting. Has an outstanding gold collection. The place is overflowing with gold. Very informative. Shows different techniques on making anything in gold. The collections are from all parts of Colombia. Some collections are grouped depending on the provenance and the group of people who used them. Has a souvenir shop and a coffeeshop at the basement. Entrance ticket is very cheap. The outside is a bit sketchy and busy especially on the nearby parks.

This is beautiful and it’s a must! A lot of very organized history with beauty and care in every detail. It took me 2 hours and a half to see the 4 floors and it was quite enough. The ticket cost 5,000COP as a foreigner and I would strongly recommend getting a coffee by the floor -1.

Great experience learning about the gold and metal history of Colombia. The exhibit flow very well, descriptions are in Spanish and English and there is also an audio guide option. I spent about two hours here because I like to read most if not all of the descriptions. There are also a couple video exhibits.
Entrance from Tuesday to Saturday is 4,000 COL. On Sunday, it is free. Closed on Monday.

A spectacular display of gold artistry. They were tribal craftsmen skilled beyond any other group on earth at the time. It would have been awesome to see everything the Spanish melted down.

Beautiful museum that has three levels. The price to enter is very reasonable. Displays are written in Spanish and English. We wanted to rent the audio headsets but they didn’t have any available. Not sure if they were all rented or had a problem because we didn’t see anyone using them. There is a lovely gift shop, a restaurant and a coffee shop. The barista at the coffee shop was quite unfriendly when we were trying to converse to her in Spanish. We walked around to La Candelaria afterwards which is the shopping district.

It was easy to follow the route around the museum but I thought the exhibits and museum lacked story-telling. It would tell you about the chiefans jewlerry, but little about his role etc. (we did not use the audio guides)

In A Nutshell:
-Biking Bogota located in the very nice neighborhood called Ciudad Salitre Oriental was the perfect place to rent a bike for the day.
-I was able to email them to make a reservation before my trip to Bogota a couple weeks in advance.
-I knew I was going to need a bike for the Sunday "Ciclovia de Bigota" where the city closes down large swaths of roads to allow bikes/people exercise, it's such a memorable & fun experience.
-Paulo was very friendly & helped make sure my bike was the right fit.
-She also provided a helmet, bike lock & a map.
-The price for 4 hours was around $20, which was very good.
Overall, I highly suggest renting your bike from Biking Bogota you won't be disappointed!

We had a great time biking la ciclovía on Sunday! The process to rent bikes from Biking Bogotá was easy and smooth. Everyone was so kind. We were given a map with directions and time time estimations for how long it would take, which was really helpful since we rented bikes for 4 hours. You can rent bikes for longer, but la ciclovía ends at 2:00pm so we felt 4 hours was best for us. I would definitely recommend biking Bogotá and look forward to renting again the next time we visit!

Definitely I enjoyed renting a bike with them. They don´t have a store open to the public, but you can call them first and ckeck if they have bikes available or you can book one in advance through their website. The team guy show me in a city map no rush different places and sightseings. Bikes, helmet and lock provided were fine. Reliable people if it's your first time in town!!

Great experience!! I wanted to rent a bike for Bogota's Sunday La Ciclovía and Diego got me hooked up immediately! It's such a beautiful city to bike around and explore, and Diego gave me guidance on scenic routes for the day (all of which had food and juice vendors along the way). The bike was also brand new which I've never experienced with a bike rental. I was out and about for 5 hours and it was a perfect sunny day to explore the city. 100% recommend Biking Bogota (and la ciclovía!!).

Great bike rental right near the Ciclovía. The bikes were well maintained. They gave us a map and recommended a couple of different routes for us. For an urban cruiser I paid $35,000 for 4 hours which is much cheaper than other locations.

Close to the airport and perfect for long layovers during ciclovia days! Paola was great and very responsive. It's located in an apartment building without a storefront sign; just go in and ask at the front desk for Biking Bogotá. Bikes aren't fancy but the price and service are great!

Great time on the Ciclovia on Sunday. Renting bikes from Biking Bogotá was a breeze. The prices are reasonable, the bikes are good, and they made sure we knew where to go and how to get the most out of the day. Definitely get an early start because Ciclovia ends at 2pm.

The Museo Nacional de Colombia is an impressive museum with a vast collection of artifacts from throughout history. It's home to pieces from the pre-Columbian era up to recent art, and provides a fascinating look into the country's diverse culture.
Great place to learn about the country's past and present. Weekend is more crowded but line up goes by quickly. The visit took me about 2hrs if you skim thru and just focus on few things of your interest.

Nice staff, lack of any non Spanish signage or any other information though. The 4,000 peso or $1 entry fee is very cheap but so is everything in Bogota. Not the most interesting of exhibits but good enough for a two hour visit. Nice shop, toilets and cafe on site.

The National Museum is deserving of its name given that it’s exhibits focus almost entirely on the history and art of Colombia 🇨🇴, and given the diversity of material on display. For me, it is a handsome venue which I enjoyed waking through, and an interesting re-purposing of a prison. However, I feel that it is a museum that tries to do too much, leaving the visitor overwhelmed with somewhat of a collage of both meaningful artifacts and less important ephemera beginning with prehistoric antiquities and continuing to the present day. For serious students of Colombia history, however, it contains a lot of material thought and research. Well worth visiting but perhaps best appreciated after a course in Colombian history. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed my visit.

While no nation wants to highlight the dark parts of its history, conquest, Inquisition, slave trade, political warfare, and drug trade seem to all be missing. How can a nation avoid repeating mistakes if it doesn't mention them? English subtitles would be appreciated ( perhaps a QR code on each display)
Shawn Webb — Google review
Great museum. If you don't have time to visit all the other amazing museums in Bogota, the National Museum is a good choice as it contains various themes from the Museum of Gold, Emerald Museum, Botero, Military Museum, etc.
If purchasing your tickets day off, bring cash. The ticket booth does not accept cards.

So, as a foreigner, the experience is a bit limiting because only a small portion of the signs are translated into English, and I couldn't find any audio guides or anything like that. But with Google Translate and a basic knowledge of Spanish, you can make the best of it. The museum covers Colombian history and heritage. There is nice art dispersed among the historical artifacts, and the third level has some nice art, including works by Botero. It currently costs about 10 USD for foreigners.
Bethany Eckert — Google review
A very good museum that explains the history of Colombia and doesn't shy away from the more brutal times or paintings.
Extremely affordable and even had an exhibit of the Santo and Kaliman comic books, which was quite interesting to see.

It's been one of the best museums I've visited ever. Free entrance on Sundays, interactive exposition. It's mostly about Colombia, but it tells about history, lately conflicts, geography, and botanic. I was there the entire afternoon and I needed to rush to finish.
Evelyn Laitz — Google review
It’s certainly a good place to visit as a local as it holds and unlocks a lot of political and religious history of Colombia. I understand that what is now the museum building was historically a prison. There’s a lot to see certainly and there’s a tour guide. If you’re a tourist and don’t speak Spanish like me, then the guide’s narration might not be helpful except if you have your own translator as an additional guide. The museum could generally be better organized and put together.

Beautiful museum. Takes a lot of time to see everything (3 floors), so be ready to be there for hours. Open your eyes very well because every inch is full of history. Definitely, I'll be back. A good thing is that in the backyard there's a coffee place, so you can take a break and continue. Wednesdays from 3-5pm is free.

Interactive displays made it nice for children and adults. There were a few pieces of pottery you could touch to get a sense of form and material.
We had limited time so we visited the National museum because they had some gold, some emeralds, and some Bolteros. A little bit of everything and more.
Only $10 entry for travelers.

Came to learn more about Colombian history and art. With 90% of the information written in Spanish, we didn't get the context to learn and enjoy it. The few translations were verbose and pretentious. I expected more from a national museum.
The art exhibition and the presentation was excellent. I enjoyed seeing so many original artworks, especially Botero. In addition, the museum building itself has a fascinating history, which they easily could have elaborated on.

Worth visiting. A large museum housed on a former prison cell. Has an excellent collection. Very informative. Gives you an insight to the rich culture and history of Colombia. The exhibits are very straight forward. Has bits of everything. An hour or two is not enough to explore the exhibits. The ticket is a bit expensive for tourists but is worth the experience. Has a souvenir shop and a coffeeshop at the exit.

These museums is great! It was interesting to see full history of Colombia before Spanish occupation and after during colonial years.

This museum was free. I'm not sure if this is always free or if it was that I arrived 45 minutes before closing. It was interesting to see architecture both outside and in. It was originally a prison.
93 Park is a beautiful green space located in the heart of the city centre. It is perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll and has various restaurants, cafes and bars surrounding it. This is a great place to spend the weekend as some restaurants have turned into clubs. There are also two Starbucks situated within the park!
Parque 93 in Bogotá is a hidden gem, offering a delightful blend of tranquility and vibrant energy. The park boasts a plethora of food choices, with standout options like Starbucks and local options, providing an exquisite culinary experience. From local flavors to international delights, there's a dish to satisfy every palate.
The beauty of the scenery is truly captivating, creating a serene escape amidst the urban hustle. Lush greenery, well-maintained paths, and charming water features make it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing afternoon picnic.
I particularly loved the amount, size, and greenery of the trees in this particular area.
For those seeking a laid-back atmosphere, Parque 93 is a haven. The ascetic charm of the park, combined with the diverse food offerings, makes it an easy-going destination for locals and visitors alike. Whether you're a food enthusiast or someone craving a tranquil retreat, Parque 93 delivers a harmonious experience that leaves a lasting impression.

I used to live near the park and i would always run in the mornings. It is a centrally located venue near to zona T and Parque de la 93. Virrey park is good for jogging or walking your pets. During the year it serves as the location for many fans and festivals. Restrooms though are The only thing that is missing 😕...

Stopped here after dinner to just walk around and definitely Safe to hang out at night as a single woman - there’s so many people out. There are play spaces for kids, but at night it’s gonna be a lot of teenagers/couple. With the surrounding cafés and restaurants in Parker great to just hang out and talk for a place of a space for greenery.

It’s a beautiful little park for kids... it has areas assigned by age group with signs, it also has security guards. The sand pit is great, along with the boat, and the climbing spider ball. Kids absolutely love this park! I wish they would close it off with small/short gate since it’s a very business oriented area and a lot of grown ups also like to hang out. The grassy area has a lot of events but it’s mostly for dogs and grown ups.

The park was okay uneventful. I didn't notice the park benches had no seats so there was no place to sit. I did not locate a water fountain. There was enough shade it was a relaxing environment
Tropical rainforest & wetland preserve with guided tours to view wildlife, plus a trained bird show.
It's a great place, because they actually save animals from illegal trafficking and all of the animals they've got there come from Colombia. I love the idea of going through the park with a guide who describes all the tenants one by one. There is even a show with birds and an opportunity to go hiking with them in the beginning of every month.
Kuba Kozub — Google review
Great place! They really care about the animals there and the eco system. You get to get an up close experience, but the animals are still respected and treated like the wild creatures that they are. All of their animals were rescued from illegal trafficking or taken in after being injured. They also have a hiking trail that you can do. You must book your visit I advance though.

It is a place that helps animals mainly from police requisitions or injured animals. The staff is super friendly and the guide "red" is superb. Some of the animals that you will find are birds. As a message, we are an ecosystem, we need to take care of plants and animals.

A really fun experience with our sons, 9 and 12. Us adults learned a lot as well. There is a tour about every hour and a tour guide takes you on a 2-hour walk around their park. There are some amazing birds and you are able to get us very close and personal. You will need to speak at least some Spanish in order to get the most out of it and learn. The restaurant is also quite delicious. Highly recommend for a half-day activity.

a good option to spend your time if you are in Bogotá. In fact I thought that I would see an open and big place but no. I asked by WhatsApp that there is a need for reservation or not and they replied that "no". But especially weekends a bit crowded. because of this they are asking reservation. We went with our son, 5 years old and he can climb to the top without any difficulty. There are 2 big tents. In the first you can see 2 big eagles. in the second there are 2 big eagles, owl and some interesting birds. In other side of campus there are rattons and some kinds of insects. Entrance is 30.000 COP for one and autoparking is 4000 COP. It's not amazing but it can be try. Personel is good and helpful. Giftshop is unenriched. It should have more kinds.
Theme park with replicas of world landmarks, a zoo & environmental space with conservation programs.
Just amazing. Be there with plenty of time. 1/2 day its not enough to see entirely the park and zoo.

Probably one of the best Theme Parks in Colombia, full of history facts, educational interactive attractions for kids and adults. You're allowed to take food into the park, which is rare nowadays, and they even have plenty of places to have a lovely picnic whilst admiring the pristine green areas and awesome buildings. The Tash Mahal replica is outstandingly beautiful, inside you'll find an amazing spiral walkway which takes you to the top. Perfect for content creators. Please make sure to keep the park clean by taking your rubbish and disposing of it properly. Well organized and a pleasure to walk around. Kids and adults alike will love it. Secure ample parking. Highly recommend.
The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira is an exceptional underground cathedral that can be reached by guided tours and features a souvenir shop. This architectural masterpiece is carved out of salt and stone, situated 500 feet below ground in an active salt mine, less than an hour's drive from Bogota. The Salt Cathedral offers a unique experience as it showcases stunning beauty and remarkable architecture.
Definitely the best place I have ever been to in my entire life. It was something that I never seen it. If you are a gamer, you might feel like you are in a dungeon that you can get the final weapon or a place to upgrade your classes.

Super cool attraction, worth a visit if you're in the area. The audio tour is definitely the way to go, and allows you to explore the space at your own pace. The whole tour is a bit of a hike, but it's not very strenuous and should be achievable for most people. The sculptures are beautifully lit and the history of the place is very interesting.
Matthew Reed — Google review
One of the coolest experiences we've had from a spiritual and architectural point of view. The work that went into this is amazing. My advice is to ditch the tour group and go at your own pace. It's much more personal this way. There are also many other great attractions, stores, and a spa inside the mine. It is a must see for all!
Jordan Joachim — Google review
I went to the other salt cathedral in the world, in Poland and liked that one much better than this one. This one was not exactly what I expected. For foreigners the tickets are around $30. The tour guide only spoke in spanish, but they did have an audio guide to purchase. It's a good idea to bring headphones for that. The first part of the tour is just crosses representing the stations of the cross. The big cathedral area was cool, but the rest of it was very commercialized... shops, coffee stands, food for sale.. I was kinda bummed it wasn't more rustic or mine/cave like. I mean they even had a movie theater down there. On the positive side, I didn't feel claustrophobic at all as the ceilings are high. Also, this mine is pet friendly and they have carts you can put your pets in as you do the tour.
Jennifer Bachman — Google review
Awesome place; really a wonder. Once you start walking into the mountain, you get a sort of sacred feeling out of all this pilgrimage through the stages of Jesus crucifixion.
I got the regular ticket, which gives you access to almost everything, but if I were to go back, I would take the premium package to have all the miner experience.
Also, make sure to buy some souvenirs to support local businesses, as this town literally survives on the salt mines.
Cam Urreat — Google review
Beautiful must see attraction. The tour was pretty informative and they even offer you an English audio device if you can’t speak Spanish. I also met some wonderful people that were traveling from other countries. It’s a sight to see.
O'Niel Anderson — Google review
Tours are available. Multiple languages are available. We had brought the premium ticket which gives you access to mine for salt, see other exhibits, and explore additional museums. It was preserved well and we had been able to spend over three hours here and still had not seen everything. The cathedral is beautiful after hearing how it was built. Active mining was also going on and it looks as if they are adding more! City tours are also available with the premium ticket price.

Truly unique but it’s not worth the time and money. We hired a driver to take us from bogota. With tragic it took over 2 hours. Then they charged 113,000 per person so it’s very overpriced. All you see are crosses of the same type and size, a few coloured LED- lights. Take the stairs down from the angel to the cathedral… it was beautiful took my mind off the 2 hour ride back.
A.L. Harris — Google review
100% must-see when visiting Bogota! There are only 2 Salt Cathedrals in the world - this one in Bogota & one in Poland. The history of each station of the cross & how it was constructed is fascinating. Audio guide in several languages, including English! Bring your own plug-in headphones. My 69 year old mother & I did (age 42) this with no problems with the terrain. Probably plan for this to be the only major activity to do that day. The rest of your day, enjoy the town!
At the end, a beautiful chapel where real weddings & weekly masses take place! Worth every penny of the admission price. So glad I didn't miss out on this! Bring water & wear comfortable walking shoes. I purchased the basic plan (see photos) and it was perfect - included the train ride at the end so you didn't have to walk the entire length back & extra small museums at the end of the Salt Cathedral tour. About 3km (roughly 2mi) total walking. Cute gift shop as you exit & some snack vendors like popcorn & ice cream.
Sarah Nally — Google review
Amazing, even though super touristic. Yes the ticket is a bit pricey, but IMHO it’s worth it as the visit really takes 1.30-2 hours to do properly. It’s so weird the shopping mall at the bottom of the cathedral… less shops would have made the place feel more authentic. Nonetheless, you can walk inside, and then go and visit Zipaquira which is a real Colombian “village” and enjoy there as well.

On a recent trip to Columbia, I decided to visit the Salt Cathedral. It's located about an hour and a half outside of Bogota, and it's a very scenic and relaxing drive. The countryside actually reminded me of Vermont in the summer.
The entrance was somewhat unassuming, but after going 180 meters down into the mines, you'll start seeing the true beauty of this place. The stations of the cross, the Cathedral and the many, many other intricate religious displays here are simply amazing!
My guide, Samara, spoke excellent English, and we had a very good conversation throughout the whole experience. 😊
Allen Herring — Google review
The place is huge. The attractions are diverse. The pictures are breathtaking. The bathrooms are cuper clean.
Things not to miss
1. Tour with audio guide (available in several languages)
2. Every hour (on the dot), there is a small 5m light display on the main church.
3. Movie explaining everything about the mine (about 20m every 30m) in 3D (on the left)
3. On the right, still water makes a mirror effect with the ceiling, which is illuminated with LED lights of different colors. **the earlier you get there, you might be able to take videos with no one in the picture.
4. There are a few historical museum-like patches, I saw one recapitulating gem excavation.
5. Further down on the left, on the way to the bathrooms, there is a small shop where you can try a combination of salt/oils for hand exfoliation and buy them 😋

It’s a bit of a drive north of Bogotá. There are lots of different salt cathedrals. After the 4th or 5th we just started wandering around. I believe there is also an available tour of an actual salt mine which in hindsight I regret not inquiring about as I think that would have been interesting.
Sean Perkins — Google review
This salt cathedral is the most amazing spot so far in my Colombia travel. The tunnels and cross are just amazing. We are lucky to see a lightning show and a wedding ceremony. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for anyone visiting Colombia. They did change different prices for the local people and foreigners.
Henry Wang — Google review
Overall super impressive from the last time we where here which was about 10 years ago. There is stores, massage places, coffee places and of course the churches inside. I didn’t expect it to have developed so much. I do want to point out that price increase for foreigns, I know that countries all over the world do this too so I can’t really complain about it. I live in the US but was born in Colombia so this didn’t apply to me which I am glad, but I still find it weird and pretty unfair. Especially considering not all foreigns come from locations where their currency is higher than pesos so it can be expensive. On the other hand, I did like that there were translation audios for those who spoke another language (not sure what languages they had). And this is more of my personal style, but I also wasn’t a fan of having a tour person for the first half of our visit, we had a big group and it took a long time. I typically like to visit locations peacefully and to learn about it, I rather read from posters or maybe an audio. This might not apply to many but I still wanted to point that out. Even so I still loved the experience and would visit again in the future since it’s something very special and different from many tourist destinations. If this is your first time traveling to Colombian this is definitely a must go place.

Don’t make the mistake that I did, and make sure you get your ticket first, before standing in the line to get into the cathedral. If you come to the Cathedral, on the bus, you can’t miss the tickets stand. However, if you walked up to the Cathedral like I did, the ticket stand is easier to miss. It’s actually a short walk (20minutes) up to the Cathedral from the train stop. Steep, but nice.
The staff was incredibly helpful and let me skip the line to enter the cathedral the second time around, since I had to go back and buy a ticket. They also provided me with an audible tour in English, since all the “live” tours were in Spanish.

It was incredible place. It’s really worth to visit if you go to Bogota.
I’m sure you will be surprised more than your expectation.

It’s nice to walk down through the mines. I especially enjoyed seeing the emeralds sticking out of the walls in the mine tunnel display. It certainly is different than seeing them mined. The tree of life is incredible. And the show was amazing. The tour was in Spanish, which I don’t speak. And the place was a blast. It will be in nice to do it all over again.
Rob LV — Google review
Many friends and locals spoke highly of it and recommended that we went. We are glad we did. Make sure to purchase tickets ahead of time as it will help you cut the line as it was fairly long. Bring a sweater and tennis shoes. The floor is fairly uneven and it gets pretty cool as we work your way down We are glad we did all of these things.
When you go, take your time before you go in to take pictures of the beautiful statues and the view. It is breathtaking up there. Also, stop at some of the souvenir shops. Once you make your way towards the end, there are some coffee shops where you can rest before you start your way up which you can make it by foot or by train. We recommend the train and there is no additional cost to it.

The salt cathedral is considered one of the top tourist destinations in Colombia. This attraction is carved out of a huge salt deposit that has been operating as a salt mine for two centuries. There is a small gift shop area that carries a small, but nice collection of emerald jewelry. This is a unique and interesting visit.

A beautiful church that is an excellent example of colonial architecture. With wonderful side altars and columns. The Plaza which it resides in is also very pretty. The church definitely suffered from a poor renovation after the Second Vatican Council, as the altar that the church has now is uninspiring. It is for that last reason that the church gets 4 stars instead of 5, for its poor renovation.

One of the best places to climb in Rock. There are different routes and beautiful places to enjoy the magic of nature. Whether you are e experienced climber or you just want to do it for fun you will find a rock for you and if you don't want to climb you can do skyline or a nice hike. It's a beautiful place. Don't forget to get some pizza near the main street

A great climbing area just an hour north of Bogotá! It has fantastic views of the surrounding area. There's over 3 kilometers of rock with routes range from 5.6 - 5.14a; they tend to be rated higher than they should be though, a 5.10c is more of a 5.9, a 5.9 is more of an easy 5.8. Some of the best sandstone with amazing jugs, crimps and cracks. The majority of the routes are trad with some bolts for sport routes. There's also one aid route. There's plenty of places to eat nearby with one gear store as well.

This is the main church of this beautiful town. The architecture is imposing on the rest of the town. The spire is so huge that it is visible from a long distance. The night light here is magical and the huge square infront of the church complements the huge spire. The church is really pretty inside too. If you visit Ubaté, my recommendation would be to visit the square both during the day and during night to admire the beautiful building.

The plaza in front of the church is big and nice. When you come into the church you feel so happy because it is the place where a wonderful miracle took place. The renovation of the holly mother painting. You descend trough a corridor and you arrive to the place that is located under the church's altar. The first time seeing the Virgin at the blanket at the Cathedral inside is magnificent and wonderful how every detail on the architecture of the building tells a history like the eye inside of the pyramid that is always watching the precious artwork where the Virgin Mary appeared hundreds of years ago.

Wow! Wow! Wow! A stunning church dedicated to Our Lady, a must-visit for those on a spiritual pilgrimage or who just love good architecture and religious art. The side altars, the historic art, the stained glass, the frescos, and the altar are just all magnificent. You can also just feel the presence of Our Lady there. Chinquinquira is a bit cold so make sure to bring a jacket! The church is in a bit of disrepair though in some areas, which hopefully will one day be addressed. It seems that a lack of respect or value is given to the historical value and architectural beauty of the town, which hopefully will one day change. A gem of a town, come and see it before more of the historical buildings disappear.

The Basilica in the historical center is an experience in itself. There are a lot of legends associated with the Virgin. Take time to appreciate the architecture, the spiritual experience and the ambience. The church is huge and the statues are life like. There definitely is positive energy flow inside the sanctum sanctorum.

Enjoyed the landmark and its history. To be able to walk the same ground that was once walked on by Simon Bolivar was a special moment for me. I recommend all go and experience the emotions of the moment while you are there. You may not enjoy it if you are not into history.

This is spot where the colonial forces finally defeated the Spanish and Colombia with the surrounding countries gained their independence. A small monument but well maintained and worth a stop if only to appreciate the terrain in which the forces had to fight.
David C — Google review
A bit chilly first of all so bring a jacket. How anti-climatic! When one pictures the Bridge where the last big battle for independence was for New Granada, one does not think of a small bridge like this one haha! In any case, the area was super interesting and is very recommended for anyone looking to interact with Colombian history. The monument to Bolivar offers a sensational view and is very beautiful, as well as the monument to General Santander. My only complaint is that the highway very obviously cuts off what used to be one park dedicated the independence. While I didn't walk around the other side, I saw it through the car window and I must say that some of the monuments are in a lamentable state. Hopefully, the government does something about it
I really liked this place, despite being a bit shocking for the people that took me there that they started to charge per car. It seems that it used to be free and now there’s a 15000 COL pesos fee.
The place is quite wide to explore, there a monument to bolivar, the bridge and great views from the top. Also there are toilets, some merchants if you want a drink or something to eat and around the area there are other highlights.
This is one of the most important places to visit in Colombia, I believe, here took place the last battle that would grant Colombia its independence.

After being in Napa a few weeks ago, I didn’t have very high expectations of this Vineyard but to our surprise the experience was pretty good with a great tour led by Carlos where we learned about making wine in Colombia.
The wine, specially the Merlot, was surprisingly good...even bought some bottles to take home.
The tour was just 25k COP or about US$7.50.
My two teenage kids ate ice cream and drank juice while enjoying the very good Wi-Fi connection!!!
Highly recommended!!!

Very slow service, and in close part of restaurant we were not allowed to sit even it was raining outside…they told us to sit ourside…. Unpolite totally… waiting for 30 minutes outside, no service yet, so we reminded them… and we got some wine, and waiting for a while fo the rest, after all there are nicer places to visit in Colombia…

Nice experience. The tour was great, they show you all the place and at the end you can taste some wine.
For the transportation you can go in public transportation and walk about a kilometer if you dont have a car, or take a cab from the Bus Station of Villa de Leyva to Santa Sofia
The attention on whatsapp is not the best.

The best thing to be said about this place is the location if it's a sunny day. We paid for the tour, wine and snacks. When we arrived they pointed us back and forth between buildings before just letting us sit outside. After 45 minutes they bought us two small glasses of wine to taste, one of which had small pieces of cork floating all through it, and some cheese in a plastic container. There was no explanation of the wine in any language (we speak a bit of Spanish) an hour and a bit later, we were the only people there and had had no mention of a tour. We then had to find them to ask about the tour. They said it was only in Spanish and sent us away. Very poor service, average wine at best. Very expensive for what it is. Honestly wouldn't bother, either as someone who does or doesn't speak the language fluently
Henry Waite — Google review
Nice place. The fee was a little bit high due to the fact that we could only taste one glass of wine. But they also tell you about the whole production process (in Spanish) which is interesting as well.

This was the first time in my life I've thrown wine away. The Merlot smelled of kerosene and was full of sediment. The white looked like water, and both smelled and tasted of a diluted paint stripper. I really hope it wasn't...
They offered chocolate and fruit to add the missing flavour from the wine.
As for the tour, so so. And the venue was all modern and well made. Shame about the wine

Incredible place and cute museum. It makes my heart bleed to see how they encased the Kronosaurus in a strange plastered floor, but at least they saved it from being stolen and brought in some moist european capital
Chiara Bellavite — Google review
Really nice museum that keeps expanding and growing. They sell themselves as “nonprofit organization” where everything that they collect is used to expand and fund the museum.
Such a young museum and yet already owns a master piece, that also became the reason to be founded. The “Kronosaurus Boyacensis”. Unique of its kind, well kind of, there are other that were found but what makes this one unique is how complete it is and that was kept through the years in the exact same place where it was found! Quite impressive!
The ticket price is average and I strongly recommend to wait until the tour, our guide was professional and knew a lot. The museum can be quickly see, you get a brief introduction and then it goes straight to the point.
I really recommend the visit.
Also, there are some nice souvenirs made my locals that use the profits to help their families. They appreciate any contribution that can made. :)

I love a location where they build the museum around the fossil! It is incredibly well done with good context! Every sign is in Spanish and English. They have a collection of items from all over Columbia, though mostly from their local area. It is still an impressive collection. Some displays were still under renovation when we were there. They loaned us a wheelchair for my mother without a deposit.

About 5-6km from Villa de Leyva, we cycled, you just need to climb over a hill. Its a small museum, apart from the big fossil there is not that much to see. The signs are in Spanish and English. Good for about 30min visit. There’s another little fossil museum on the main road, it’s a pity they don’t offer a combination-ticket to view both

A lovely place , what I recommend for this particular place . Bring a pair of very comfortable shoes , bring a backpack for family , bring your camera , your phones , and a few bottles of waters depending of the family . Yes it’s really easy going down , but harder to come up , (nothing new/this is normal) the walking it’s about 1 hour going and coming back , because you stop and take pictures and admire the every single Pozo . Do not drink the water, don’t play with it , it has so much minerals that are toxic for human and pets . Don’t let your pet on the loose because they can drink from the water . This is totaling like hiking , so with that being said , bring also a hat , and mosquitoes repellent , just in case , some days are very hot and there aren’t many shadows , there is a bathroom and a shopping bodega at the entrance , and also another bathroom and a bodega when you get downstairs almost on the way where you start coming back up . Very basic things they sell . Mostly drinks and snacks . Is it worth it ? 100% 😎! Beautiful views, beautiful pics . I will recommend to go around midday if possible it’s when the sun 🌞hits the water more and you can see thru it ! Loved it !

Casa Terracota, located on the outskirts of Villa de Leyva, is a unique and quirky attraction. It is known as the world's largest ceramics structure and was originally conceived by architect Octavio Mendoza Morales as his primary residence. The building project aims to harmoniously merge architecture, design, and other arts and crafts using earth, air, water, and fire to transform fired clay into architecture.
Very interesting tourist stop. It’s a house made of mud, by a local architect. You get a guided tour of this fully functional mud house. They describe everything from the inspiration, to the construction of the building. It’s a great place to visit. Very unique!

Casa Terracota is a unique architectural marvel located in Villa de Leyva, Colombia. This unconventional structure, entirely made of clay, captivates visitors with its earthy charm and whimsical design.
The experience of visiting Casa Terracota is unlike any other. As you step inside, you're greeted by intricate clay sculptures and winding passageways that lead to various rooms and chambers. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are truly impressive, showcasing the creativity and ingenuity of the architect.
While the exterior of Casa Terracota is its most striking feature, the interior offers a glimpse into the creative mind behind this extraordinary creation. Each room is adorned with clay furnishings and decorations, creating a cohesive and immersive environment.
One aspect worth noting is the sustainability of the building materials used. By constructing the entire structure from clay, Casa Terracota exemplifies eco-friendly architecture and serves as a testament to the possibilities of sustainable design.
Overall, Casa Terracota is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Villa de Leyva. Whether you're an architecture enthusiast, an art lover, or simply curious to see something out of the ordinary, this clay house promises a memorable and enchanting experience that will leave a lasting impression.

Plaza Mayor de Villa de Leyva is a popular destination in Colombia, featuring a large cobblestone plaza surrounded by cafes, handicraft shops, and a colonial church. The town offers an opportunity to experience Spanish colonial architecture and picturesque natural surroundings. The plaza's floor is made entirely of rocks and nearby attractions include museums, restaurants, bars, and shops selling local crafts and cuisine. Visitors can escape from everyday stress at this charming location which includes hotels for accommodation.
A must visit place if you come to Colombia. You have the chance to go back in time to a Spanish colonial style town surrounded by beautiful nature, mountains, lots to do in and out of town. The plaza's floor is all made of rocks as it was built centuries ago, but there are wonderful places to go nearby: museums, awesome restaurants and bars and typical food and craftsmanship shops.

ABSOLUTELY the best place to catch the sunset if you're visiting Villa de Leyva. Beautiful expanse of cobblestone surrounded by lovely shops restaurant and let's not forget the church.... Where the bells ring (loudly) at 5:30 and 5:45 calling people to mass. Kinda wish someone had warned me before the first bell... Minor heart attack, but none the less it's a must do if you're in the neighborhood.

Villa de Leyva's Main Square, Plaza Principal de Villa de Leyva, is a captivating destination that embodies the charm and beauty of this colonial town. Surrounded by historic buildings, quaint cafes, and artisanal shops, the plaza serves as the heart of Villa de Leyva.
One cannot help but be mesmerized by the plaza's grandeur and tranquility. The vast cobblestone square, flanked by towering trees and adorned with a central fountain, offers a serene and picturesque setting for visitors to enjoy.
The plaza is not only a scenic spot for leisurely strolls but also a hub of activity and cultural significance. Throughout the year, it plays host to various events and festivals, showcasing the vibrant culture and traditions of the region.
Surrounding the plaza are several architectural gems, including the Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario and the colonial-era houses that add to the plaza's allure. Additionally, the abundance of cafes and restaurants lining the square offer a perfect opportunity to indulge in local cuisine while soaking in the ambiance.
Overall, Plaza Principal de Villa de Leyva is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring this charming Colombian town. Its timeless beauty, rich history, and lively atmosphere make it a memorable highlight of any trip to Villa de Leyva.

It's cobble stone streets are just brilliant. The white color of each facade makes of this village an amazing spot for a marathon of pictures and selfies. We laid down on the grass to chill and had some tasty chocolate of the Museum of Chocolate.

Beautiful historical Square, everything in original condition and well maintained. Great atmosphere at night time. One of my favourite stops on holidays, very relaxing and friendly place, lots of great food around here all in walking distance from the main square.
A colonial-era cathedral & mansions frame this vast central square, which hosts markets & festivals.
Local Columbia living. Everyone friendly and welcoming. Can feed the birds and have them flying everywhere pretty churches And architecture. A lot of traditional food and customs
A square surrounded by beautiful historic buildings (well, for the most part anyways). The square is clean and gives priority to the pedestrian which is nice. However, the square could be conserved better. For context for those who do not know, Tunja was one of the most important cities during the colonial times in the Viceroyalty of New Granada. That is why it is so sad to see the state of deterioration of historic sites in the city. Hopefully, the government will do a better job of conservation.

Despite the street dogs everywhere, it's a quiet place and a beautiful square, no street sellers like the Bolivar Square in Bogotá and no garbage everywhere

The place is amazing, with tons of historical architecture, unique places even for Latin America. You should try the rellena’s food stand. Be aware it gets edgy late at night.

it smells bad, having made toilets in a historical site like this square was stupid. Many people who have visited it before and after these baths think the same thing and now I was able to verify it...

A nice square where you can find basically everything you need. Restaurant, bank, church, cafés. Essy to get taxis or buses.
Lake Tota, located in Boyaca, Colombia, is the country's largest lake and a popular destination for weekend getaways. The area is known for its abundant wildlife and offers visitors white sand beaches and hiking trails to explore. Playa Blanca, a white sandy beach on the lake's shore, provides an opportunity to take a dip in the icy cold waters.
It is a wow!!! A naturally formed lake!!! Colombia is a great place, a lots of natural diversity.

The biggest natural water lake at 3k meters of altitude that will wow the nature lovers. The view is breathtaking and the warthm of the Boyacenses will put a smile in your face. The trucha arco iris (rainbow trout) is yummie (pictured). A place that worth to visit with the family or friends

Colombians or foreigners can enjoy the view and the landscape of this lake. The entrance and carpark is really cheap just 4.000 COP. A trip around in a boat it's going to cost you 10.000 COP and some restaurants around the lake is about 25.000 COP. Just remember to bring a good jumper.

This lake at over 3,000 meters above the sea level is just amazing. It has a beautifull natural beach where you can camp and have fun. It is a safe place surrounded by majestic nature and great people.

This is one of my favorite places in Colombia.
I love the colors ,it's reminds you of going to a lovely beautiful beach, but at the same time, the water is cold and the weather is so nice and cool as you would cost being in the mountains at such height! You feel you get quite the nice mix of experiences.
If you visit, you must try trucha (strout) in the restaurant located right there, and has a super nice view.
Also,try the merenguon for dessert.

Beautiful Lake and nearby accommodation. We enjoyed the white sand beach.

Lake Tota is a place where you find sugar beach and clean waters that invite you to plunge in but which are way too cold. You can not miss it, though. You can ride a yacht, or rent a jet ski. It is at 2,600 meter high from the sea level. Near there, there is a very good restaurant in which yo can taste a wonderful tasty trouth which is bred in this place.
You do not want to leave this place. There are also restaurants near there, if you want to stay.
Martin Tobon — Google review
I really love this place, this is one of the highest beaches all over the world, the weather is a little bit cold, about 12°C on december and is a very windy place, the water temperature is cold, either if you like cold water or not you are gonna love it, the view is amazing and in front of the beach there are stores where you can buy traditional colombian food, or whatever you want.

Complejo termal Paipa
Water park
Spas & Wellness
Spas
The Paipa Thermal Complex offers a wide selection of plans, allowing visitors to indulge in various activities. With its all-natural hot springs, massages, water jets, sauna, jacuzzi, mud therapy, bubble beds, and more, the complex provides numerous options for relaxation and self-pampering. In addition to these amenities, the complex also features a fantastic water park that is perfect for spending an enjoyable day with children.
A wonderful place for family fun. There are several swimming pools with hot springs water (which usually is around 32-38°C [89-100.4°F]) full of natural salts and minerals.
There are a couple shallow pools (around 130 cm deep [4'3'']) which are great for children and also a larger pool with a maximum depth of 230 cm (7'5'') in case you're in for a good swim. Also, there are additional services such as a mud bath and a water slide (undergoing maintenance at the time of this review). The facilities are nice and provide accessible parking. The entrance fee is around six US dollars for adults at the time of this review. Children and the elderly pay a lower fee. There are on-site shops for swimsuits and other accessories at reasonable prices.
It's usually crowded during weekends and holiday seasons (Easter week in Colombia, mid-late June, early July, mid-October, December), not so much during weekdays.

Place is amazing achievable for all social status, but sometimes they are so permissive because this is a public place, not private.
I recommend to don’t buy nothing inside the termales, because it’s expensive and tiny.

(Translated by Google) At night it is emptier, although from one moment to the next it can get quite crowded. The water is not that hot but it stays at about 36 degrees average I would say. There are some fountains that add even hotter water but since they are only a few, they fill up as soon as they are turned on. For a person from a hot land it could be a little hotter.

Monument to the notorious Battle of Vargas Swamp in 1819, with 14 horseback lancers cast in bronze.
Beautiful! They also have several guides that will explain the whole historical background.

Nice monument, the biggest in Colombia and with a very interesting story. There's easy access for ppl with mobility issues. Free entrance.

The monument represents a Juan José Rondón and his 14 spearmen since they were of great importance to change the course of the battle in favor of the Patriot army in the search for the independence of Colombia. Work carried out in 1969 by the teacher Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt on the 150th anniversary of independence
