This is definitely the best tourist attraction in the Capitólio Canyons area and well worth a visit during your stay in the area. There are good infrastructure providing restrooms and safe walkways around the canyons as well as a restaurant with great views not to forget the amazing Zipline adventure across the canyon.

Amazing place!
Worth every penny of the ticket (R$70) and you can contract the zip line (+R$ 80).
Many lookouts!
Alexandre Zanetti de Almeida — Google review
Must see in Capitólio. The entrance is not cheap (80 reais, you can get a 20% discount if you book online) but worth every real. Incredible views and very refreshing waterfalls where you can swim.
We were told that one ticket is valid for 3 following days. We'll check if it works. 😉
AnnaT — Google review
Not worth R$40. The view is pretty, but the natural pools are nothing special and you will have to wait in line to enter. At most, you can spend 15 minutes in the pools and 30 minutes on the trail. Also, the lady with the megaphone at the pools is very rude to visitors.
Gregory Flynn — Google review

I was expecting more for the price... The bridge is cool, and the viewpoints are nice, but what they call "pool" was barely a creek.

Parque Estadual Biribiri

Nature & Parks
State Parks
Parque Estadual Biribiri is a nature reserve that showcases cascades with natural swimming areas, a historic settlement for textile laborers, and scenic paths for trekking. This state park offers visitors the opportunity to explore stunning waterfalls characterized by pools suitable for bathing, admire an old village once inhabited by workers in the textile industry, and enjoy various hiking trails amidst beautiful surroundings.
The Buracao Waterfall in Brazil is a breathtaking natural wonder located in a winding canyon. It can be accessed through a guided hike or swim, and is widely regarded as one of the country's most impressive waterfalls. Although not easily accessible, visitors are rewarded with stunning views of the 85-meter tall waterfall and its surrounding environment. The water temperature is pleasant and safety vests are provided for added security.
Buracão is definitely one of the most beautiful waterfalls you'll see. And it is by far the most must-go spot in Chapada Diamantina. It is compulsory to hire a local guide to enter the park. Usually, it costs 150 for up to 6 persons (we were two, so we paid 75 reais each). The entrance fee is 15 reais per person. The access isn't as easy as many other spots around but it's really worth it. We drove past Ibicoara, about 24km on an dirt road, then another 4km past the ticket booth, and then we walked for 1 hour in an easy-level track, which is suitable for both elder and children alike. You can reach the bottom part of the waterfal either by rappel (commonly 1 ½ hours wait plus 20 minutes rappelling) or walking (20 minutes). If you choose to walk down the track, you drop your stuff on a rock and swim a small shallow canal to see the waterfall from below. Water is refreshing cold. There's no one selling beverages or whatsoever at the waterfall so it's a good idea to grab yourself something to eat. There's someone selling snacks (many vegan and vegetarian options available) and beverages at the entrance of the track (past the ticket booth, right before you start the walk).

Extremely nice, bade below a 85 meters tall water fall, with ok water temperature and with safety vests included. Not too crowded.

Words cannot describe this place. So beautiful and inspiring. Best waterfall. You have to experience it to believe!
Barbara Kewn — Google review
Hike along a river, through the mata, down beside one waterfall to arrive at a canyon that you need to swim through to reach a spectacular waterfall... An amazing day.
Just be careful following Google maps - we were led well astray. You have to go through Ibicoara, and it's worth getting a guide from there - there's a tricky lookout you probably won't find on your own to see Buracão from above.
Kate — Google review
Amazing waterfall in a great setting! Definitely worth it! But avoid to do the tour with the agency Bicho do Mato - even though the price for a group of four is fixed in Ibicoara they charged us more after we returned from the tour.
B. Julia — Google review
Must seen in Chapada! Best waterfall, beautiful view and the tracking is nice.
Located 15 km away from the central region, Itacarezinho Beach is the farthest of the Four Beaches Trail and renowned as one of the best beaches in Itacare. Its typical northeastern beach view features a shoreline surrounded by palm trees, long stretches of sand and an irresistible sea for swimming. Visitors can enjoy a more secluded atmosphere or engage in activities such as surfing, diving and hiking.
This spot is as close to heaven as you can get here on earth. Be sure to stop at the Mirante on the way down for a beautiful photo. If you have the money, you can rent a gorgeous cabana, but be prepared to open up your wallet. It’s about $300R per person. $250R comes back in food and drinks. The second option is $300R total for chairs, an umbrella, pizza and a few beers. My best recommendation is solid footwear for the walk (10 mins downhill and 15 mins uphill), carry your Havianas, and bring water, snacks, and towels. You can also hike to another nearby beach on a trail should you choose. Last great perk, you can rinse off in a fresh water waterfall coming from the nearby river. Totally worth the trek.

A great tourist attraction not more than an hour from the city of Ilhéus, offering great, though not cheap, food and drinks. The beach itself is splendid. Not a piece of rubbish to be seen.
Luca Alvim — Google review
One of the best beaches in Itacaré. You can either leave your car at the entrance and walk down to the beach or park inside the property at a cost. Itacarezinho isn't usually crowded. In case you don't have a beach chair or a parasol, you can rent them from the only kiosk you'll find on the premises. There is also a minimum spending requirement restaurant.
Helsingberg Arcanjo — Google review
This was our favorite beach in the area. Not to crowded, easy access, you can swim, enjoy not to strong waves, get some snorkeling, walk along...
Concha Beach is a popular seaside destination in Itacare, offering bustling sandy shores and picturesque vistas for surfers and paddleboarders. The beach features numerous rustic eateries and kiosks along the waterfront, making it an ideal place for families to enjoy the calm waters of the sea. Located at the mouth of Rio de Contas, Concha Beach boasts perfect water conditions for swimming. Additionally, visitors can enjoy colorful small beaches nearby as well as lovely accommodation options and charming dining spots.
A Nice colorful, beautiful small beaches and a super place to swim ! Small hotell and Nice places to eat!❤️

Popular beach in the area to watch the sunset, lots of people having a drink and enjoying it.
Water was fairly warm, waves very small, slight pebbly section at the water's edge but after that 5 metre stretch, all sandy.

Cool just to see the beach on the other side, the town and maybe a sunset. But as a beach, it's much better to go to resende, tiririca and ribeira. The sand here has a dirty-looking aspect and the beach feels crowded really fast. Not much space.
V. Lucas — Google review
It's the perfect beach for you if you want to swim. There is a lot of bars for you to sit and ask food or a drink but there is also space on the sand if you want to have a nice and tight tan.

Very nice Walk and Setting close to Lençois. It’s wise to avoid weekends and bank holidays. In the middle of the walk is a nice chap selling drinks, cocos, and snacks. You should plan in total with 3-4 hours. Enjoy
Thorsten Siering — Google review
Free place from center Lencois! Hiking to there is very easy! Easy level! No cost to enter. I suggest to do 3 locations afterwards (see my other reviews) but the last one is very difficult and not easy to find (use a trail map - download before attempting as there are no signs). This one is easy and straightforward. You can swim there and there are snacks sold there.

This is a natural water slide!!!
It’s 30 minutes walk from the town!
It’s so much fun! Go enjoy sliding with bikini or sunga.(Otherwise, your pants might get ripped hahaha. I literally saw a guy whose pants were ripped to shreds.)
Miyuki Kageyama (Kathy. K) — Google review
Easy 40min walk from Lençao, children friendly and fun place. With a slide, little natural pools and colorful stones. The water looks brown but it's fresh!
Salim Bayri — Google review
Great waterfall/ slide with a nice pool to swim in. Don’t dive in the water because there might be rocks you cannot see. We saw the local guides show others how to slide and where it was safe to jump into the water. The path was very easy, you can wear flip flops and you don’t need much water. To get to the starting point, just go down the southern most road from the town and you will see an entrance marked by someone selling drinks.
Chris King — Google review
The trail can be difficult to find but ask any local, buy cold coconut water before the trail or after. There is a snack and drink bar halfway through the hike 🥰. There is usually a local selling beer and water at the waterfall!

It has a nice structure and a beautiful sunset. It’s a kind of bay, so water is calm. The sand zone is not big, but is comfortable. I prefer an open sea, but those seeking for a calm and beautiful place with water, go there.

R. da Frente, 159 - Gamboa do Morro, Cairu - BA, 45420-000, Brazil
The Quarta Praia beach in Morro de Sao Paulo is a more secluded, quieter option than the main beaches in town, and is worth walking to after a dip in the water. It's also more vazia than the other beaches in Morro, with many people renting bikes to pedal along the long stretch of sand.
Really liked it. Away from the crowds of the other beaches that are closer to the town centre you'll find a nice beach with very little amount of people (takes a while to get there as you can only get there by foot I think). Because of that, unfortunately this isn't an option for people with reduced mobility. There are a couple of bars that (I think) serve some food (although we didn't eat). Not a place to watch the sunset, best during the morning/day time (till 16:30-17:00)
Isa Alonso — Google review
The beach is beautiful, but for those who want bath or swim, it’s better to keep walking till the second half of the beach
Bruno Lins — Google review
Much quieter than in town. Worth walking here and sitting in the shade of the big trees after a splash.
Paolo Denti — Google review
It’s a very flat and shallow beach, even with the tide. The mud is very soft and is good for rubbing on your skin or throwing at your friends (or enemies, you choose). It’s the least crowded beach, especially farther south.
Angus Bennion — Google review
This is the most peaceful and beautiful beach of Morro. When the tide is low you can swim in natural pools with many colorful fishes. The coast is designed with palm trees and other trees.

The 2a Praia in Morro de Sao Paulo is a popular beach with people looking for lots of fun during the holidays. It's home to some of the most popular beach bars and restaurants in town, as well as some of the most beautiful views of the ocean. It's just a short walk from the center of town and it's always crowded during high season, thanks to tourists who love its laid-back atmosphere and cool water.
Beautiful beach, you can lie down and never have to get up, someone will get you all the acai and caipi you'll need. Lots of football, dancers and people having fun!

(Translated by Google) From an infrastructure point of view, it is an extremely useful and important essential service for the transport and integration of the Capital and the highways that arrive from the South, Southeast and Center-West of Brazil. Ferry Boats deserve better attention from public authorities, as well as the services provided. Boats that were once extremely modern, today need minimal repairs and care. It is worth mentioning that other states in Brazil do not have boats with this quality and construction, so maintenance would be enough to improve service conditions. Pedestrians and all types of vehicles board practically without restrictions.

(Translated by Google) Terminal without good signage. When you arrive at the entrance you almost don't know that it is a terminal, as what is above is a huge advertisement that looks more like the entrance to a company than the entrance to the terminal. The service was disorganized and it wasn't full, I can only imagine on weekends and holidays. Filthy bathroom, dirtier than an old gas station on the side of the road. Truly absurd for the price they charge! How can the Government of Bahia not monitor the service of this concession. The rules of the contract are certainly being violated by the concessionaire Internacional Travessias. It is clear that privatization does not improve the service if there is no supervision and monitoring of the contract by the assignee!!!
(Original)

(Translated by Google) It is a terminal managed with a 20th century vision, thinking that its users are still discovering the place and as if this place were just a native fishing village. A bolder and more entrepreneurial vision is needed, aligned with a health and sanitation infrastructure and land management and vehicle circulation. But it all starts with the modernism of the Bom Despacho Terminal. Oh! I think you should change the name too. Change to a contemporary name. Wanting sujestão, here you go.... Terminal "Neptune" or Triton, etc! I hope I contributed something with my comments. Until later.....

Mais tudo começa no modernismo do Terminal de Bom Despacho. Ah! Acho que deveria mudar o nome tbm . Mudar pra um nome contemporânea. Querendo sujestão, aí vai.... Terminal "Netuno" ou Tritão, etc! The Elevador Lacerda in Salvador, Brazil is a historic art deco elevator that offers stunning panoramic views. It connects the upper and lower parts of the city, providing a convenient transportation option for visitors. This iconic landmark has been restored to its original beauty and attracts tourists from around the world. The elevator consists of four separate elevators and can transport passengers 72 meters in less than 30 seconds.
Beautiful elevator with stunning views of the city. At just 15 cents, it is a very affordable way to get to the old city. The observation deck at the top gives you some of the best views in Salavador. It's also closely located to Mercado Modelo, which is convenient. With that said, make sure you don't have any flashy jewlery on you when you go up so you can stay safe.
Pedram Esm — Google review
It cost 0.15 to get up, and 0.15 to get down. Great that's affordable for EVERYONE!
It's just an amazing view from here.
Dayana Alonso — Google review
The view from the top level is truly impressive. You can admire the coastline, the lower town, and the elevator itself. Don't forget to check out the view from both sides of the entrance! The view from sea level is also amazing.
Arkadiusz Jędrzejewski — Google review
A tourist attraction with a lot of history.
⭐ The elevator is very fast and takes you to the upper city in a few seconds
⭐ We did not pay an entrance fee and did not have to wait in a queue
⭐ Nothing else to say or to do. Very straightforward. It is an elevator after all. But fun nonetheless!
Also, prices for souvenirs in the upper city are cheaper than at Mercado Modelo!
B. Jisoon n — Google review
It's very cheap at only R$0.15, and conveniently located. It facilitates a 10 minute walk from the ferry to Pelourinho or from Pelourinho to the market. There may be a bit of a line depending on the time of day that you visit. Can also get a bit hot during the day. There are stunning views from the top, a very popular photo op spot, as well as a famous ice cream shop help you beat the heat. Can't miss it on a visit to Salvador and I definitely recommend taking it at least once.

A very traditional landmark of the city, this elevator is known as the first public elevator on the entire Amreica. It connects the up and down part of the town (where the Modelo Market is located). The fee to use is very unexpensive - only BRL 0.15 cents. It's also a good place to enjoy the breathtaking view of the All Saints Bay. Unfortunately, the surroundings are not as safe as expected, but note that this is very common for historical cities in Brazil. I do recommend you to be accompanied by a local to avoid unsafe areas and to avoid the local vendors who can be very insisting. As always, enjoy it during the daytime. The elevator doesn't offer a panoramic view (it was not built with this intention), but it has a glass corridor that can be the place for nice pictures.
Felipe Bezerra Lopes — Google review
This place fully recommends having lots of histories and beautiful arquitetura.
Patrick Tharatpol Duangsunitkool — Google review
It's a small pastry and ice cream shop situated right next to the elevator. I have to admit that the ice creams are delicious, generously served, and really cheap. You may choose to get them in a cone or a cup. The 'Pave' flavor is amazing! Pave is a Brazilian cake-like dessert.
Arkadiusz Jędrzejewski — Google review
The history behind the construction is interesting, however it’s not a great place to go. Going up and down costs R$0,15 per visitor and the elevator is too crowded, hot as hell and smells sweat. Great view up there though.

Lacerda Elevator was the first urban elevator in the world when it opened on December 8, 1873 the 63 meters tall elevator takes you from lower town to upper town. A major tourist attractions and photo spot of Salvador. Great views of the bay and the governors palace.

I thought you'd be able to look outside while you ascended, but it's not the case. Once you get to the top you get a nice view of the the market and the marina.

It’s definitely a unique place to visit. It’s the postcard of Salvador. When you go up, you can see the ocean, mercado Modelo, and the fort of São Marcelo. it’s definitely a great way and fastest way to get from cidade baixa to cidade alta.

Pelourinho is a historic district in Salvador that features picturesque cobblestone streets, Afro-Bahian souvenir shops, and lively squares filled with musicians and dancers. This area contains colonial landmarks such as Igreja e Convento de São Francisco and Catedral Basílica de Salvador featuring intricate gold-plated carvings and Portuguese tiles. The Pelourinho is also home to the Casa do Carnaval which showcases multimedia exhibits of street parties with costumed mannequins.
The Basilica of the Lord of Bonfim is a large, gothic-style church located on a hill in the city of Salvador. The church is known for its Hall of Miracles and its body part replicas, which are popular tourist souvenirs. The church's fame derives from its power to effect miraculous cures, making it a popular shrine.
I really enjoyed busing this place. We did the 3 ties for 3 wishes. It was fun to explore this area a few vendors out front. Would say this Is a good place to visit, parking can be tough to find.
Alyssa Helkowski — Google review
One of the best attraction of the city.
You'll feel a deep spiritual energy and You'll meet a beautiful cultural side of Salvador de Bahia.
Quaint old church, with a beautiful view, much nicer interior than one would guess from the exterior (although exterior is done in rather charming gothic architecture), and a cute story of wishes granted for each of the knots tied with a ribbon at its fence. Make sure not to tie more than three knots, though, and of course - you can't say the wishes out loud. :) When will they come true? When the last of the knots gets undone and the ribbon falls off the fence...
Vanja Cingel — Google review
Though it is not that close of the mainstream of Salvador's sightseeing, the basilic is indeed a must to see place. It has such a huge and potent energy that will make the extra effort worth it. It's not the most luxurious church one can visit, but the relevance of its history to the locals (and the history of religious development in the entire state) is more than necessary if you really want to leave with the mystical taste that Salvador leaves in all of us. There is no fee payment, and as a plus, you can visit the beaches located on the outskirts. Don't forget to attach your Senhor do Bonfim ribbon on the gates of the church - legends say you must choose the color you like the most and tie it in with three knots, one for each wish of yours. The color you pick will represent the orixá that protects you.
Felipe Lopes — Google review
Marvelous setting with beautiful views. Interior is very opulent. Lots of vendors for the ribbons outside.

This was an excellent way to find some respite from the city. There are many meetings and there are many attractions here. The basilica offers an excellent gaze into the past of not only the church but the local customs and city history.

Beautiful church carrying a lot of history. There was service when we arrived and it was crowded but we found seats and could enjoy the amazing interior of the church whilst praying. Be aware about parking and souvenir prices, street vendors try to make money on unadvised tourists.

A must see during your visit to Salvador. A beautiful cathedral that captures the heart and soul of one of the oldest cities established in the new world.
It’s local custom to tie ribbons at the gate in front of the church and say a prayer to the Holy Savior of the Bay of all Saints.
Inside the cathedral and deep rooted in the Afro-Brazillian Candomblé traditions and the Catholic Ex-Voto, the afflicted offer wax casts in body parts to Saints as thanks or hope of healing them.

Largo do Bonfim, s/n - Bonfim, Salvador - BA, 40415-475, Brazil
To get from the center was very frustrating and took me 2.5 hrs to get there.
Do not rely on google maps or moovit in terms of the bus number (many buses have no number) or the bus stop to get on (as many drivers did not stop for me as it was not the right one) or even the route. Ask many people and look for a bus sign that states it is a stop. Many buses don't display numbers, and if they do, the number switches quickly that you may not have the time to see it from far to hail it down!

The TAMAR Marine Turtle Praia do Forte Project is a crucial initiative dedicated to the conservation of endangered sea turtles. At the TAMAR Education Center, visitors can gain insights into various turtle species and the threats they face from activities like pelagic long line fishing and poaching. The project also focuses on preserving humpback whales, with whale watching being a popular activity during their reproduction season from July to October.
A must see place. I love the location (right on the beach). We were able to start early in the morning take a break for lunch in side the Tamar project there is small food area. There is so much to learn in this on place. You are able to see the actual size of each turtle and compare to your own height. So many pools of turtles. One thing we didnt know is that you are contact them in advance and spend the day as a biologist. a good place for kids of all ages. I really enjoy this place.

It's a very interesting, but small exhibit. It's fun to see, but keep in mind that you will maybe spend there 1-2 hours MAX. If you don't have a tour! We went 2 hours before closing and it was the perfect time to go.

Great conservation project, beautiful displays and signage with a lot of educational content. Great for children and adults alike. The only disappointing thing was to see the amount of rubbish floating around the nearby beach, contradicting so much of the message which the project stands for.

Worth visiting, this project shows great samples of turtles and a few other species, in a splendid space almost on the beach of Praia do Forte. Some explanations in English about turtles and the overall project would be very useful for foreign visitors!

It is definitely a place worth visiting. You can admire turtles of different sizes, from tiny hatchlings to enormous old turtles. While they offer guided tours, unfortunately, these tours are not available in English, and not all exhibit descriptions have English translations. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the visit.

Fun outdoor activity to do with kids (free under 5)! Employees are kind, always available to explain or help. Fun way to learn about turtles. There are also sharks and rays to see. The gift shop is nice too :) For people with babies, please note that there are 2 bathrooms on the site, but only one that is baby friendly. It's the one located at the entrance of the park where you pay your ticket. Enjoy :)

I hate giving such low points when reviewing a place that is working to try to help the oceans and efforts of conservancy!!! However, this is a cause that is very close to my heart. Having volunteered 6 years at the G aquarium!!! I went in and out of this place and learned very little. The people that were there were not giving any particular instructions or help. Besides having a t shirt saying, if you need help, I can help but it was all in portuguese anyway.... I know we are in Brazil, and that is the official language. However, if you are trying to educate an effort of conservacy, you should have somebody who speaks other languages so everybody that goes can learn something.
I also found it extremely sad that giant turtles swam in such a reduced space🤔🤕. I understand that there are animals that can not be returned to their natural habitat for diverse reasons, but if they are to remain in human care, they need to be cared for. So for this, I cannot recommend.
Noelle Marozeau — Google review

We even got the release of little turtles to the sea , very cute!
Mari Jadon — Google review
I like what they're doing and what they stand for. I guess they need to have to have a front of house so show everyone their good actions. It felt a little like an aquarium to me. I hope those sharks, manta rays and turtles are in there just temporarily.
Conor O'Connell — Google review
The Tamar Project does such fantastic work in protecting the marine turtles, that you absolutely have to love and support this place. The place itself is not very big, and you can walk through the whole area in 30 minutes or so. But you do get to learn a lot, and seeing the turtles is an amazing experience. It's also located in a beautiful area by some of the most beautiful beaches. After going here, you definitely have to go to the beaches and enjoy the natural wonders. If you're lucky, you can even see the turtles in the wild.
Pedram Esm — Google review

The service, helpfulness, education, the stories told during the tour and the beautiful places for swimming recommended by the family responsible for the sertão catamaran were undoubtedly the difference in ensuring that we were enchanted throughout the tour we took, in addition to the natural beauties that the region provides us. From telephone contact to scheduling the tour with Mr. Hugo, patriarch of the family, who was transparent about all tour options as well as clarifying all doubts presented. Until the day of the tour where we were welcomed by Mateus and Srª Efigênia, son and wife of Mr. Hugo.
