The Presencias Tutelares sculpture, located in a breathtaking and otherworldly setting, is an impressive display of artistry by the talented Juan Diaz Fleming. The sculptures perfectly complement the surrounding environment, creating a truly unique and surreal atmosphere. While some may consider it only worth visiting if passing by, these remarkable works of art certainly warrant a special trip to witness their greatness firsthand.
Really interesting history of these coastal people.

The Corbeta Esmeralda Museum in Iquique, Chile is a replica of a historic Chilean ship which fought in the War of the Pacific against Peru. The museum features artifacts from the 1879 period, as well as guided tours that provide an overview of Chilean history.
Fantastic replica of the ship and interesting museum with a very helpful and friendly staff. I stopped by around noon and, despite my limited Spanish, a worker there set me up with a self-guided audio tour (guided tours are only available in Spanish). This gave some interesting insight into one of Chile's important naval engagements during the War of the Pacific. I would definitely recommend a stop if you enjoy history! Afterwards, the fish market next door is also worth a visit.

Visited here on a friday. There was no bilingual guide, but you get the point of the history if you know basic spanish. You can also explore the boat without a guide.

Beautiful replica of a 19th century Chilean ship. The tour is in Spanish but they provide a book in English. Cost is 3500 CLP for foreigners. Definitely worth the experience.

It is a museum, a replica from the original ship that gave Chile its most important national Hero, Arturo Prat, Very complete tour with accurate explanations and sights from the interior, and only takes half hour. I really enjoyed it!.

Very cool museum highlighting the battle between Peru and Chile. As a foreigner, there was a lot of information that I didn't know, and the museum was very interesting. It's great for kids, however if you need wheelchair assistance or have trouble walking, you won't be able to see much of the museum.

Beautiful replica of the 19th century original. Great for a quick stop to learn about War of Pacific and Chilean Naval History. The nearby docks/ fish market are also worth a quick minute.

I loved the combination of old artifacts and modern Chile. You can get a good sense of Chilean history in one small delightful place. I mostly recall the area near the Sierras rather than the desert though the desert has the reputation of never having experienced rain in human history. Not sure if that is true of course but intriguing at least! Wonderful side trip (though a long hitch-hike!).
Baquedano Street is a vibrant pedestrian thoroughfare adorned with bars, eateries, and colonial-era buildings. It impresses visitors with its well-preserved heritage and attention to detail. The locals responsibly contribute to the maintenance of this historic place, making it a testament to their care for their surroundings. The street evokes nostalgia and embodies the spirit of the pampa.

Mall Zofri is a vast and intricate shopping complex in Iquique that spans two levels and offers an extensive range of personal services, as well as a gastronomy hall and food court. It serves as a go-to destination for electronic gadget purchases in the region, operating from 11am to 9pm daily (excluding Sundays).

Unique Shopping Center in Iquique, Chile where you can get all types of items like electrical, sports, Cars items, Toys, Food items, Electronics items.
Basically I am from India so I went there to purchase some food items like Tea, Poha, Indian masalas, Indian pulse items.
If you are looking for Indian items you can visit Module no. 10 and module no. 96.....
You will feel tired after roaming big mall, if you feel hungry you can go to food cart and enjoy good food.....

It's very crowded can't even put it in words how much. Unfortunately prices aren't so great. You can get everything for the same price or cheaper in the internet. Most store owners know nothing about the product they paddle but would never admit it and just make everything they don't know up on the spot. They also have strong opinions and recommendations about their products despite the fact that they never bother to test anything or try using their stock in real life situations. For example people who clearly never cook in their lives run kitchen supply stores here. Very disappointing.

You can find a lot of things there - its like a huge chinese market. There are some candies, tea, coffee from all over the world. Some cheap stuff and wierd things and brand clothes also. But its not organised well. I mean there are no zones (food, sport etc). So u have to spend a lot of time to find something.

Plug and test everything... No warranty or only in Iquique.... Enjoy.. it's a good experience!!🇨🇱

Great place in the area. Everything in one place. Prices are mostly slightly higher than in the US but not bad. Most known brands and a lot of Chinese stuff...
Playa Cavancha is a well-liked destination for swimming and various water activities, offering a sufficient expanse of sand ideal for sunbathing. The beach boasts clean and inviting waters, while also being easily accessible to those with disabilities. Showers are available on-site as well. Playa Cavancha enjoys a prime location in the city of Iquique, within walking distance to popular attractions such as Las Americas Shopping Mall and Baquedano Street.
Beautiful place! Everyone is out enjoying the Christmas decorations and lovely atmosphere. This is a must see not just in Chile but in the world.
Beautiful sunsets. Attentive and proactive lifeguards. Many families and kids enjoying the beach. Nonintrusive vendors.
Minus two stars for shards of broken glass, many cigarette butts, and garbage in the sand.

I would give it the five stars if it wasn't for the bird's poop that expell a disgusting smell. Despite that you can find places to eat, to sit, to play sports such beach tennis, beach soccer, beach volley and so on. There is a little zoo, the casino is also there and just across the street you can find some restaurants more settled. It's a swimmable beach so daily you'll see body swimmers, surfers, swimmers and such. Nice place to spend the morning or the evening. It's hot on sunny days so watch out.

Ghosttown has a long history of production and has been partially restored. Great place to walk around and to see the different buildings. I'm various buildings. Different theme museums are set up about different aspects of working and living in this ghost town at the time it was operational. Interesting old sulzer engines can be seen, old steam trains in a state of disrepair and old engines manufactured in Britain.

Amazing open air museum. A lot is still intact and it is very cool to walk back into time while visiting Humberstone. You can easily spend 3/4h. There are some stores in the main square. We paid 6000 pesos, which we found more than reasonable.
Lode van Riel — Google review
Words cannot express how absolutely fantastic this place is. As a Californian with an extensive history of visiting ghost towns in the United States, this UNESCO site is by far the best ghost town I have been too. It is remarkably well preserved, it has an unbelievably extensive collection of quotidian objects. Humberstone is the better site of the two if you have extra time as it is much larger and has a lot of variety. Commit to at least 2-3 hours of walking and make sure you go to the far end of the site by where the factories are, you'll find incredible machinery, trains, and artifacts. Note: the old saloon, plaza, church, and movie theater are a must visit.
If you are right on time go to Santa L., it's just up the road had a lot of what you can see at Humberstone but is a lot more compact so you can do it all in 45 min. The main museum at this site also has original and beautiful ads produced by the companies and Chilean government to popularize its nitrate abroad, these posters are remarkable pieces of advertising history and early 1900's history.
Helder Toste — Google review
The Humberstone and Santa Laura ghost towns are a short drive up the escarpment from Iquique.
They are a good way to see how life was when this was a thriving mining community and is somewhat frozen in time.
Bring water and shade as it is a hot and dry area of Chile changing quite a bit from the climate in Iquique. Wear solid shoes as the buildings are in disrepair and broken glass and nails are scattered across the ground.

I thought it was gonna be a genuine ghost town. Which it is, but the fact that the exterior of every single house is branded with modern signs and plaques, and their interior renovated with most objects cleaned and arranged neatly on the walls, took away from the experience. It's basically like any other museum and thus not worth the trip. The layout of the town and the exterior of buildings is a fascinating sight tho and one to behold.

Amazing place with a rich and incredible history. You need a full day to see all the interesting things
This natural hot springs will unwind you so good, you may not be able to drive back... the place is managed by the city hall, it charges you 3.000 CLP, about 4,5 USD. it has everything you need. Bathrooms, lockers, shower, nothing fancy, but clean and functional. The level of the water is between 1,0 to 5,0 meters, depending the day of the week (every two Mondays it reaches 5,0) better if you avoid weekends and holidays when is crowded

It is about 6 km long, 4 km wide and 850 m deep. The mineral is removed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 600 tons of material come out of its crater per day, only 1/3 of which is useful minerals. The waste is piled on site in the form of artificial mountains over 150 meters high, forming sediment banks. To move so much material, a fleet of 130 giant trucks is used, each 7 meters high. The tires alone weigh 3 tons and measure more than 3 meters. Codelco is a company in charge of copper exploration and organizes free visits to the mine. We have to wear a helmet and a lab coat. This mall has a little bit of everything including a large Líder, or South American Wally World.
At Líder, I bought a ladies' top sized S....No Boundaries brand. Just like back home in the States .... it's huge on me. It's comfortable, 60/40 cotton, and pretty good quality, But just big. Small isn't small here. It's more like Medium to Large.
Also picked up some groceries for self-catering, which is the affordable way to travel around Chile.
There's a good variety of specialty stores and some restaurants including a standalone sushi or Asian fusion type place. Mall is up-to-date and relatively new.

Although it's mostly clean and well organized, I was dissapointed to find a complete lack of exterior spaces or a lookout. Must visit place when in SPdA. You can rent a bike from the city and then bike here, its a short ride with good roads.
The roads in the park are a bit bumpy and you’ll need to climb a bit, but its definitely worth the landscape views. We had to pay an entrance fee at the beginning, not sure anymore how much this was.
Michael vd Berg — Google review
Stunning. You need to be reasonably fit to do any of the walks. The altitude and surface of the walking tracks can make them hard going, but if you can walk them, the views are spectacular. Drink lots of water, more than you normally would at a lower altitude. You can buy tickets at the gate.
Clint Grykes — Google review
First I want to say the landscape is incredible. 5/5 and a must see especially since it's so close to San Pedro de Atacama.
Book online in advance. Entry fee was 10,500 Chilean pesos per person. We drove our rental car to the destinations inside the park.
The reason my rating is only 3/5 is the company running the park was frustrating. 4 of the 8 spots inside the park were closed. The only reason they seem closed was there were not staff to station at the spot? Why do you need staff at each spot anyway? None of the staff at the open spots said anything to us. They were just sitting in whatever sliver of shade was available. It seemed miserable and unnecessary for them. Wish the spots weren't closed.

It’s very hard to tell the spectacular of this place only by the photos.
It was more than my expectations.

And the strong wind sometime blow the sand off, so please be carful for your eyes.

Fascinating and indeed moon-like landscape. One of the places to see if you are in San Pedro or the Atacama. Six kilometers before San Pedro; lots of guided tours to be had, but also possible independently (even by bike; if by car: no 4WD necessary).Open 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., in winter from 8:00 a.m. CLP 10,800; cash never amiss. The climate is intense (consider water and sun protection!).

Bit of a mixed bag this place. On one hand a really beautiful site that if you are already in town you'll probably want to go. Jump through the hoops of booking online through yet another site the night before and show them your ticket on your phone with the qr code when you arrive the next day.
Drive your own car or hire a bike, don't give any more cash to the money grabbing tour operators that have taken over the town (as many other reviewers have pointed out). Staff at the office were very nice and explained the whole park really well (with a bonus even in English). They say all the walks will take around 5 hours but any reasonable fit person can see everything in 3.
Would have been 5 stars but some nonsensical rules really sour the place. First the bank style opening hours are ridiculous. At this time of year it was 9am to 5pm. Of course hottest time of the day with harshest light, great for walking. No sunset or sunrise which seems at odds to every other national park around the world.
Then on the major ridge line walk overlooking the dunes you are told no photos by the staff member watching videos on her phone only walking. Photos can only be taken at the two end points with 500 other people who have just been dropped off by the tour operators. Cool.
And finally, you do receive tickets to the sunset viewpoint (Mirador de kari) just outside of the main gate (last entry at 7pm) but all this does if funnel the 500 people who are in the park into one spot. Seems like s good idea.
Anyway make up your own mind, with some small changes this would probably be one of the best paid attractions in town. Better still bring your own car and just drive a few hours either direction and you will find amazing free vantage points. lakes and salt flats all to yourself.

Lovely parks with several walks that allow one to see the amazing geological formations created by wind and water. The park attendants at entrance give a map and explain what is open and what is closed and approximate time to do the walks. astounding landscape with the volcanoes in the background. Pictures just do not do justice to this incredible place!
We had an issue with the ticket machines and could not use our credit card and they do not accept cash CLP. We had to access the website and purchase tickets there so just a word of caution. We used our cards elsewhere so we do not know what caused the problem. Maybe us???? Still would recommend purchasing ticket online.

One of the rare places you can currently visit in Atacama (from San Pedro), most of the others are closed (December 2021).
It was beautiful (especially the sunset) but I wouldn’t say it is the most beautiful place on Earth as others do. It doesn’t make up to you the fact the other beautiful places are closed.

Amazing amazing amazing!!! Highly recommend, it’s just stunning! Never have seen anything like it. Did all the walks, sometimes it gets exhausting but it’s worth it.
Make sure to take plenty of water, good hiking boots, sun cream and a hat. :)
Only annoying thing is that you need to buy the tickets online and the website is rubbish! You can’t buy tickets at the entrance so make sure to buy them before!

Stretching 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) in northern Chile, the Atacama Desert rises from a thin coastal shelf to the pampas, virtually lifeless plains that dip down to river gorges layered with mineral sediments from the Andes. At its center, the Atacama is known as the driest place on Earth. There are sterile, intimidating stretches where rain has never been recorded, at least as long as humans have measured it. Fiery red canyons, grassy gorges, turquoise thermal lakes, cerulean lagoons, and geysers give this arid lunar landscape an otherworldly appearance. The crystal-clear skies, high altitudes and zero light pollution also make it an unparalleled stargazing haven.

Beautiful landscapes with desert valleys and rock formations. If you have the opportunity to visit San Pedro de Atacama, this tour is certainly something you do not want to miss.

The landscape is amazing and worth the visit. If you go by your own car (as we did) then you can buy your tickets at the locket. Some tips, bring enough water and snacks with you. You can’t buy it at the location. We did not book a tour but went on our own. I would say that is fine if you also visit the small museum at the locket. The museum tells you about the different formations and why the landscape is formed in an unique way. At the locket we also got extra tickets for a mirador for a good sunset. We arrived 10 minuten before the sunset at the mirador. Tip: bring some clothes with you.
Note: all tours left the sunset immediately when the sun was behind the mountains. Which is surprising to me, because the sky gets more beautifully if you stay 10-15 minutes after the sun sets. One of the benefits of not going with a tour.

From the rave reviews, booked an afternoon tour. Ok. Interesting sand dunes and clay/rock formations but not the best or most scenic we've seen in this area. It's a large area so a lot of the same... The tour cocktail and the sunset view ( out of the la Luna valley) made the afternoon fun.
Vincent Oliver — Google review
This place is amazing and very unique. It feels like walking in a scene of Dune.
We have to thank the people in these reviews and online blogs though, because we had to order tickets in advance and we wouldn't have known otherwise, there probably should be a way of informing people about this that is better..
It does get quite touristic around the same hours every day (3pm) because the tours come before going to watch the sunset, we avoided this and were happy to do so. 🤭
Enjoy

Beautiful area with different picturesque stops. As normal here, you drive from viewpoint to the next and do a little hike. The longest is 1-1:30 hours. You have to book online and you will get a map and an introduction at the entrance.
The landscape is amazing. You will see sand dunes, salty rocks and the impressive amphitheater.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff Plenty of parking.
The park is massive and breathtaking. There are parts where it looks like it could be the moon or Mars.
We hiked all the trails and it was enjoyable. Some parts were a little strenuous but we took our time and weren’t rushed.
Definitely worth seeing.

First of all, you can buy tickets at the door when they open in the morning by utilizing the machine at the ranger station. Credit cards are accepted.
Once you have your ticket and map, you do a self guided tour on the approximately 12 km length of the road. There are hikes of various lengths at each stop along the way but none are too strenuous even for us older folks.
However, it does get hot very quickly and if you're cycling, be aware that there are some quite steep hills to go up.
Bring and drink lots of water and use sunscreen.

We went to Valle de la Luna by bike. We had them overnight so we could leave in the very cool of the morning at about 8am, knowing the Valle opened at 9am. It’s 16 km away from San Pedro, so we thought we would be there in good time. However, we didn’t know that the entrance to the valley is just outside town and most of the 16km are in fact AFTER the ticket office. So we had to wait for quite a long time at the entrance for it to open, and then we had to cycle in the rising heat to get to the beginning of the sights. So much for having the bikes overnight and leaving early!… The road was very quiet but in full sun, mainly gravelly, with some sections more sandy and uphill (nicely downhill all the way back, hooray!); we had to push our bikes up for some of it. This also meant that we were limited in how much of the valley we could see because it was getting very hot. By 11am, we wanted to be on your way out and cycling back to town before the worst of the heat and sun exposure.
In the valley you have one road in and out, and opportunities along the way to lock up your bike and to walk up to viewpoints. The first set of viewpoints involves a 50min walk (round-trip). We were on our own up there and really enjoyed it. Fabulous views of an incredible landscape (no straying off the path allowed, frustrating but makes for pristine sand dunes…). By the time we came back down, a big group was arriving. The rest of the Valle includes: another three viewpoints (1h30 walk round trip); a salt cave, where you can hear the salt crackle, apparently; and the Tres Marias which is an unusual rock formation.
You’re not allowed to eat inside the site (forget a picnic with a view!), but you can refill your water bottle at the ticket office and again, at the first set of viewpoints where there’s a little hut and some toilets. Note that, although the ticket office is very big, there is no food or drink for sale, except for bottled water and Monster drinks (!). They are tables in the shade though, so if you need a little pick-me-up before heading back into town, this is a good spot to eat whatever snack you’ve brought along. No need to buy tickets online; we bought ours directly there, and paid by card without any surcharge (10,800 cl pesos per person, about half price if you’re over 60).
The tours sold by agencies on Caracoles street all go in the afternoon. We’d understood that visit in the morning was only for private individuals. But in fact, we saw plenty of small tours, even in the morning; seemingly organised by upmarket hotels (worth bearing in my in your accommodation choice!)…

Awe-inspiring landscape that resembles the surface of the moon. A must-see if you are in the area. This fantastic otherwordly landscape with amazing geological formations, is a part of the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt Mountain Range) belonging to the Los Flamencos National Reserve.
Desert swimming holes known for their turquoise water with high salt content, popular for floating.
Very beautiful place, it's a must if you visit SPA. Everybody told me that I shoud book a tour to go because the road wasn't good for particular vehicles... well let me tell you that this is not true, the road was good enough for any kind of vehicle, so if you can, I would recommend to go by yourself and spend as much time as you want to floating in the lakes! Enjoy!
Gabriel Melo — Google review
It's so nice to try to swim in salt waters and floating on it.
4 stars because there are 2 lagoons to swim and not 7. The other 5 are like puddles
mario vergara — Google review
It's amazing! We could swim in one lagoon that is turquoise, it's really pretty but be careful of the UVs, you can get burnt in 10 minutes. Be careful also if you have skin problems (such as eczema) it will really damage your skin.
Marie Cordemans — Google review
Choose this one over the others! Amazing walk around and views. I was the first one to enter and had it all to myself (9:30) - the walk around the other pools takes around 15 minutes. You will spend maybe up to a hour. Bring water to wash yourself off. As I was there when it opened, there was no staff other than at the ticket office so no one bothered me (I have read in other reviews people were told to stay on path) - 20 minutes in the salt pool. I brought a ticket in the office, you fill out some paper work. I did cash. No phone signal.
THE DRIVE - 100% doable, this is coming from a 24 year old who crashed a corvette and doesn’t know anything about cars so fool proof! Stayed at 60-80km the whole time, the road is fine! I had a Subaru rental SUV. Yes, it’s rocky, but you will be fine! On the way back I saw lots of tour buses going over 100! It did take me almost double the time however, so leave earlier! I have attached a video to show you the road. As I was leaving 3 buses of tours turnt up so it can be easily ruined by that.
Chloe Ann — Google review
Almost didn’t brave the road in our rental 2WD after reading the reviews on Google maps and iOverlander regarding the access conditions.
Very glad we decided to see for ourselves as the road was fine for the most part - there was a rough section lasting about 30km at the end that can currently easily be done in any vehicle if you have experience driving on unsealed roads. Maintaining a steady speed of around 60km lessened the washboard effect.
The lagoons are incredibly unique and the swimming lagoon is more salty than Cejar meaning you are very buoyant.
Staff were very friendly (unlike some other sights) and the tickets are purchased with cash at the entrance (again unlike the complicated entry to other lagoons).
No showers (looks like they’re in the works) but ask and they’ll give you some fresh water to rinse off with.
Kathryn — Google review
The most beautiful lagoon in Atacama. You can swim or actually float in two lagoons there. The water is cold, so better first get into the water at the last one. You have to pay a small entrance fee, but there is a bathroom and cold shower. The road to get there is a challenge - 42 km of bumpy dirt road but once you see the lagoons it is all worth it.
Alvydas Glodenis — Google review
The tour costs 10,000 pesos chilenos and includes 7 lagoons. 2 are open for swimming (first and last).
MAKE SURE THERE IS NO WIND FORCAST WHEN YOU GO. It will most definetly ruin your visit.
When we visited the showers were under contruction so you had to use water from gallons to wash the salt away, which was very hard.
Don't forget to take a good towel and a complete change of clothes.
Yuri Darian — Google review
Amazing experience!
Let’s be serious though, the drive is around 40km of very rough gravel road. If you’re renting a car make sure you have at least an SUV and not a small sedan or it’s going to take you much longer. 4x4 is not necessary but a truck would probably be even better.
Also, take bottle of water, plenty of it because what they don’t tell you is that the salt actually hurts when you get out the water as it crystallizes on your skin. Wash it off quick and change out of bathing suit quickly.
Alex Papadopulos — Google review
It is beautiful but because of reviews here we went there with a trip (which is like 40$) even though we have our car rented. Don’t be that stupid! Our driver was going 100km per hour so the road is not BAD! you can easily go with car 2x4 dont listen to other people!
Karolina Wolak — Google review
Loved it! The scenery is fabulous and the lagoon where you can 'swim' is huge fun. It's one of those places where you really have to respect nature - one lagoon where people used to swim is off limits now because it was polluted by sun lotion...
lesley stones — Google review
The entrance fee is 10,000 CLP/adult and 5,000 CLP/child as of June 2023. They don’t take credit cards, so make sure you have money.
We drove our rental (crossover) there, and it was fine. But don't go too fast on the dirt roads.
You float in the first lagoon and then walk around the area to check out the other lagoons. The experience was unique as I had never been inside such a salted pool. But my partner, who has been to the Dead Sea, said the experience was similar. Water temp was cold, but go in the afternoon so that you can warm up once outside of the lagoon.
Do bring a towel and water to wash off the salt (shower wasn’t available when we were there).
Cindy W — Google review
Tickets only purchased at the entrance.
Amazing salt lake that actually has more salt than the Dead Sea 🌊 so you absolutely have to take a dip and experience almost 0 gravity.
Unforgettable place.
Bathrooms available.
Apply sunscreen before entering the reserve as applying sunscreen inside the reserve is prohibited to keep the environment as free from outside factors such as oils and chemicals.
Dane Mc Cabe — Google review
Inside the absolute silence and vastness of the inert desert, a cold pool where happy tourists cannot help but float due to the incredible salt concentration. If you come to Atacama, please find the time to come here.
Alessandro Morita Gagliardi — Google review
Don't go without a 4x4, its 30km in bad road. The lagoons were kind of dry, the blue one was closed for swimming. We could swim in one salt lagoon. There are toilets, and they provide water to remove the salt, dont need to reserve or buy in advance. I enjoyed more the landscapes during the trip than the lagoons at the end. There are other lagoons to see with better access than the Escondidas de Baltinache.
Guilherme H — Google review
There's no public information, webpage or whatsoever before you go, so, as Feb 2023 take note.
There're seven ponds, but you can only swim/float in one of them.
There's no shower since the pandemic begins, so bring enough water to rinse the salt yourself
Between 13:30 and 14:30, entrance is not allowed, because of lunch time.
The road is harsh, you can do it in a regular 2WD car, but be sure to have a spare tire, we got one flat.
Entrance fee is 10.000 CLP, or 12 USD.

Rocky mountain plateau with an overhanging rock, a popular photo spot at sunset.
Very scenic especially in the golden early/late afternoon hours. the park has 2 separate entrances, at Valle de la Luna and one mirador de Kari/ piedra de Coyote by highway 23. The afternoon brings the beauty from the cliffside overlooks.
Fyi you can buy affordable admission through PuntoTicket.com but make sure you receive the qr code for entry. I didn't get mine in my email and my account. I had help from the hostel I stayed in to get the qr code.

Wonderful and otherworldly view on the sunset and the Moon Valley! Only downside - very crowded. But, it is expected, since the spot is located just 10 minutes from the city.

A place worth visiting, when in San Pedro de Atacama! We visited it early in the morning a bit after sunrise! We were going for the sunrise by bike but we did not calculate that the uphill before would take us so mutch time! In the morning time there is nobody around, all the place for your self! On the other hand, visiting Tha same place in the evening for sunset you will meet loads of people who come with groups there to see the sunset! Nice but crowded! In any case it is worth it!

Nice place to watch sunset after spending the day at Valley del la Luna. There is one ticket that grants entrance to both Vale del la Luna and Mirador Kari. When we visited in Summer, you had to be in before 8 pm.

Great views of Valle de la Luna. To go there you need a ticket which you get after visiting Valle de la Luna for free. Probably no way to buy it separately.

Excellent place to view the sunset. But extremely crowded with tour groups. And the staff kicks you out before the sunset is even over. Just park somewhere along the highway for the same view instead.
Wiles Stapp — Google review
One of the best experiences you can have. Best view of the valley of the moon. If you are going in Autumn or Winter, be sure to pack some warm clothes because it gets a little cold in the evening. Don't go too near to the edge of cliffs , you might fall. If you want a good picture, bring a camera tripod (the big ones), also there are some platform that you can use, but the tripod would be a better option.
Keivan Sohrabpour — Google review
The best viewpoint of the valley of the moon. You will need to have a ticket to get there which is the same as the one to enter the valley. We got there in the afternoon, I guess that during the evening hours the color must be more dramatic.

It’s a nice view over San Pedro!
Unfortunately we weren’t able to get close to the ruins but only see them from far away, that part was closed.

It’s currently closed due to Covid restrictions however if you walk to Cruz Papal from San Pedro de Atacama you will be able to get great views of the valley, you can then walk onto the valley floor which is 10/10

It's a hike that will require a lot from you, but the view from upthere is quite amazing! Pukara de Quitor is located a bit far away from the city, around 30-40 minutes walking depeding on your location. There was several people walking there and also cycling there when I went alone that day. You will need to pay to get into, I believe it is around 5,000 pesos, I entered as a student and paid lower than 4,000. There's also bathrooms in there once you enter. There is also several stops with shadow and seats on the way up, I'd say 2-3 stops like this. And the arc on the top is great, the view from San Pedrom from there is amazing, and you will get amazing pictures. I did not went up to the last stop, since I was tired and was not 100%. Up to the arc I might have taken 40-50 minutes walking up with long stops, since it was around 3-4 pm and really hot. But I recommend, it's demanding but it's worthy it.

A difficult but rewarding hike. It can be a grind in some areas but there are shaded and sheltered areas. Bring lots of water. Recommend going early in the day to avoid the sun/heat. Also there is a few to do the hike but it is not expensive. The walk from town to the base of the park is fine to go on foot, although it seemed most drive or cycled.

The hilltop offers beautiful views of San Pedro. Worthwhile if you can walk for 40 minutes. I suggest going in the morning before the overhead sun becomes too hot. Even on cloudy days, sunscreen is highly recommended... the translations on the historical aspects are ok, but I would recommend reading up on Wikipedia for clearer explanations etc.

The only downside is that I relied on a tour company to get me there, and they only picked me up at 2pm - so by the time we arrived we'd lost an hour of the 3 hours you can spend here.

It's a Oasis in the desert. I think all people should be able to experience that once in life. The natural pools are really warm and going in the morning make it a relaxing thing, cause the weather is not that hot. Amazing thermal pools. You should book ahead of time and they’ll give you a window of time you can stay. It’s usually longer than you’ll get if going with a tour company. The road is a little rough at times so take it slow.
Once you arrive there’s a decently steep walk down.
8 pools to use and they get cooler as you get further to the bottom.
Alex Papadopulos — Google review
There's a bit of a walk down or back up to the car park, although there did seem to be a shuttle vehicle to take people back up. The first thing you notice is the unfamiliar sound of rushing water in such an arid landscape. It is set up like a mini spa resort and the pools are amazing; not overly hot by say Japanese standards but definitely lovely and warm. Changing rooms are basic huts with lockers but no locks so bring your own padlock if you have valuables. You might want walking shoes for the path down and sandals etc for walking between pools although those won't be essential for many as the walkways are easy enough. You might want an extra towel or something to wear between pools if you feel the cold during the cooler months (although I was fine without, even in August). There are toilets but no showers because the water is fresh and clean enough so you only need to dry off afterwards. There's a picnic area too. Overall a great experience and a wonderfully wet oasis in the middle of the dessert.

The springs have been really nicely curated to still feel like natural pools and there are enough of them to not feel too busy. They're not scalding hot and the water feels very fresh which makes them pleasant to stay in for longer than usual.
There is also a lovely picnic area if you have brought your own food.

We were lucky that the day was beautiful and sunny to be out in the hot springs. What's great about visiting Termas is that it's controlled into how many visitors can visit at a time. Not too crowded and you can take your time to relax and enjoy what it offers. A must visit!

It is expensive, road is not the best but you can get there without a tour agency. 15 minutes walk from parking. Some tour agencies take tourist down to the facilities. Hot spring are not that hot. Please bring sunscreen and a hat. Barhrooms and changing station are clean but very tiny. Use the bathroom to change for more privacy. You can bring food for the covered spaces. If you get a pool for your group even better. Not sure if the income for this place is reaching the community since the houses a few miles away are not good quality. Other than that, it is a great experience but just once is enough.

Amazing place. Arriving early in the morning is highly recommended since time flies in each of the thermal pools. The last one is supposed to be the coldest but we couldn't tell the difference. This geothermal area with volcanic activity features geysers, boiling mud pools & a sulfur smell.
Intriguing place to visit. Sol de Mañana (Spanish for Morning Sun) is a beautiful and otherwordly area lined with geysers, bubbling mud pots and the distinct smell of sulphur. Located at more than 4850 m altitude, this field of geysers is fed by an underlying volcanic activity, due to the friction of the American plate with the South Pacific plate.

The place is a geothermal area that extends over 10 sq. klm in an altitude between 4,800m to 5,000m. The volcanic activity is significant, while the sulphur springs and mud lakes steam non stop. Bolivia made a geothermal energy plant in order to sell the stored energy to Chile, but the exploitation of the site is uneconomic.

Absolutely amazing stop on our tour which according to our guide, is ever changing so you'll never get the same experience twice!
Wow!
Maddog (UKwonderboy) — Google review
Very interesting place located at altitude of around 4900m nice seen at sunrise while its not windy. Sol De Manana geysers futures intense volcanic activity and the sulphur springs field with full of mud lakes and steam pools with boiling mud.
Although very tempting, it is recommended to be self aware and do not get too close to any of the active spots, as well as strong wind might blow the steam and gas in your direction.

This place is stunning. It feels like Mart. Be careful here, the smoking water is sulfur and it’s really hot. It could be risky if you don’t take care.
Facu (tty0) — Google review
I came to this place on my tour to the salar de Uyuni in Juli 2017. The sight is pretty spectacular. There are several holes filled with hot mud water which comes out of the earth. This hot water forms steam. Even though this steam smells bad (it contains sulfur) the field is a very beautiful sight.

Hotel Geyser Del Tatio

Hotel Geyser Del Tatio offers comfortable accommodation with a focus on cleanliness and attentive staff. The hotel's simple yet pleasant amenities make it a good choice for travelers looking for a place to rest without breaking the bank. Guests appreciate the tranquil atmosphere, well-kept pool, and friendly service. The location, though somewhat remote, provides an opportunity to enjoy the starry sky and serene desert surroundings.
Great hostel : nice rooms, breakfast at the top and people very kind! She helped us with the transportation to the airport and what are the best visiting spots un the area

Worst experience in the region! No water or hot shower at the end of a trekking day is awful! The owner is completely absent, they have a huge problem with hot water in the showers and we had a complete day without water at all. They should rebuilt their basic infrastructure urgently! We made a complaint to the owner but got no answer so far.

Getting to the hotel is a little deserted and dark but there's nothing like the starry sky and the full moon to transport your thoughts to a magical place. After all, we are in the desert! I recommend it and would stay at this hotel again.

(Translated by Google) It should be noted that the cleanliness of both the room and the facilities, everything is pristine. The staff is very attentive, kind, friendly and helps you with your questions. The hotel is simple, not pretentious or luxurious. If your plan is to take walks and visits, where you are only looking for a place to sleep and rest without spending a lot of money but with a higher level than a hostel, this hotel is a good choice. The hotel does not have many services (there is no bar, restaurant, laundry, room service, etc.); The pool and patio are very enjoyable and it is a 5-minute walk from the center of San Pedro.

(Translated by Google) The published photos do not represent the reality of the hotel. Access is terrible with a road full of sand and very dark and dangerous at night. Something I found bad is that when we arrived they asked us for payment and the receptionist, knowing that I would pay by card, charged me immediately without even knowing what the room was like. The staff is friendly, the cleanliness is good, the pool is not well maintained, especially the children's pool (it does not have a safety fence). The rooms are a kind of cabins and to get to them you have to go through a rather poorly maintained patio. To be fair, the beds are comfortable and the room is comfortable, which does not compensate for the other deficient things. In terms of quality and price, it is overrated since it is actually like a hostel with cabins in the courtyard.

The Iglesia San Pedro, a historic church located within a walled compound in the heart of San Pedro, features adobe construction and a wooden ceiling that changes character throughout the day with the shifting sunlight. The Spanish style mission architecture is strikingly beautiful and adds to the town's cultural charm. With plenty of opportunities to try authentic Chilean food and other cuisines, visiting this Catholic church is an essential part of any trip to Chile.
Pretty, Spanish style mission architecture. No tour. Building changes character as sunlight changes during the day. In the main square at San Pedro. Strikingly beautiful.

If you're in town, it's easy to find and view. A typical church of this kind, but nothing special.
As we visited prior to Christmas, there were a few additional features, but otherwise not worth going out of your way for.

It's a cute little church. A must see in San Pedro de Atacama. It's good cause you can do this tour part in between the big tour you will do here like the volcanos or Termas. It has a great location, so it's very easy to find. It's well maintained, so it will give you great pictures and it has a unique architecture. Really recommend you to see it. 🥰

Rugged desert lagoon with salt flats, ancient microorganisms & mountain reflections.
This was my favorite place when I first visited Atacama. Coming here again was wonderful. You absolutely must do the complete walk, although I recommend not in the afternoon when the sun is the strongest and it’s too hot to enjoy. Thankfully we had hats. It is a beautiful place

Open as of March 2022. entry costs 5.000 per person, which you have to pay at the place in cash.

A rather small salt flat. There is almost no wildlife (we saw a total of 4 flamingos). You can't get very close to the salt flat as you are required to walk in a narrow circular path.
Very overpriced for such a small offering. Save your time and go to Chaxa lagoon, which is far better.

Breathtaking sunsets a highlight at Tebinquinche Lake.
The complete tour, including Laguna Cejar and Tebinquinche Lake took from 4 to 8 pm. Sunset at Tebinquinche Lake was certainly one of the most spectacular sights during our stay at San Pedro de Atacama.
Plenty of opportunity to explore the salt flats here and take photos. There is SO MUCH salt!
Lots of bird life here; the setting sun seemed to bring them out, and they swooped around the sky. Breathtaking.
The lake itself had some flamingos on it. The ruggedness and extreme colours were beautiful, As the sun set, the colour on the mountains was constantly changing.
All this was enhanced with snacks provided on the tour and 'pisco sours'.
Excellent part of another great tour here. Highly recommended.
chiangmaicharlies — Google review
Welcome to climate change :-( The lake seems to dry out incredibly fast looking at the pictures here of 2 years ago. You can only walk around the salt field/ lake a bit. Average site and to skip if you seen other salt fields before.

We planned to go here for sunset. But with the new regulations due to Covid the park closes earlier and in summer sun sets at 9 pm. So no more options for sunset

Magical! That’s one of the best places I have seen in my life. The road is a bit tricky but still easy to drive. It’s empty because it’s a bit more remote than the more popular lakes. Go there and enjoy the quiet, the solitude, and the views!
Erik Wilde — Google review
Very calm meditative place. Except for us, there was almost no one, even the flamingos did not fly 😁
On the way to the lagoon, you can see two lakes absolutely free - Ojos del solar, they are fascinating.
Entrance to the Tebinquiche lagoon is 2000 pesos per person.
From San Pedro de Atacama you should to drive about 40 minutes, it is better to choose an asphalt road
Kay Marchuk — Google review
The place is beautiful, however YOU CANNOT SEE THE SUNSET here. They closed it at 6:40 for no reason. Some reviews say that the sunset is beautiful from this place, but currently they changed the rules and the oficial closing time is at 7pm (sunset was at 7:30pm).
Also there is not much explanation nor signs in the place, I would recommend to read by yourself before going because it’s a very interesting place.
Tomas Devoto — Google review
Probably the most beautiful place in the Atacama desert, and it's not as famous as other places there. Plan to see the sunset there, as it is really beautiful. The guided tours give some 20 minutes to see the place, but I would have liked to walk the whole place, which would have taken longer. Go by yourself in a rented car, if possible, to take as much time as you want.
Daniel Galinkin — Google review
Beautiful lake close to Salar De Atacama. Many kinds of birds here and you'll be lucky to see flamingos. Definitely worth the visit!
Nas Sol — Google review
A beautiful and peaceful lagoon. It is possible to cycle here from San Pedro but it is quite tiring. It took me just under 2 hours to cycle here and maybe 2 hours 10 to get back to San Pedro. Entrance is 2000CHP and renting a bike for 6 hours is 3000CHP making it a far more budget friendly option if you are up for the ride compared to renting a car which is likely to cost around 45000CHP. Be warned that if you do cycle, some of the road is not the best and will ware you out.

Hot spring pool with mineral-rich waters, mountain vistas & a restaurant & toilet facilities nearby.
Awesome lagoon, you can even bathe in the termal water, if you like (you have to pay a small sum, though). There are flamingos and rarely some other birds, plus the sunny day and the few clouds made the landscape really scenic. There is a place to buy some water, too, and one of the few bathrooms we saw during all day, which is obviously paid.

This enchanting destination is renowned for its mineral-rich hot springs. Something different in Salar De Uyuni, warm enticing pools to allow visitors can bathe, soak and chill in the thermal waters. While the surrounding was not particularly scenic, it is a fascinating experience to relax in the cosy pool which reputedly has healing properties.

Top of the bill! Literally it is, because this small hot water basin on the edge of the Salar de Chalviri is located at an altitude just under 4,400 m! Although the water has a temperature of only 30 ° C, a bath is quickly wonderfully warming as the mercury on the Altiplano barely rises above 20 ° C. In short, a wonderfully warm bath with a view that no other spa can match!

I'll never travel to Humahuaca without this trip planner again
Laguna Verde is a stunning lagoon with green water, created by its mineral content, set against a backdrop of volcanoes and mountains. At an altitude of 5000m, the water contains arsenic, making it poisonous for animals and unsuitable for flamingos. The landscape offers a dramatic view of the 5930m high Volcan Licanbur.
Equally pretty, but poisonous, sister of the white Laguna Blanca in green (among other things because of the arsenic content so beautiful green; therefore no flamingos here).
Light and colors as drawn by Dutch masters. Access as to the Laguna Blanca also over the Chilean border not difficult, but needs some time. Accommodation and meals in the nearby hut (Ref. Alto). Here are some pictures during an ascent to Licancabur.

(Translated by Google) Unique, challenging and glorious experience for those who are not used to it. For me it was very difficult, I would even say because I was out of shape and technically unprepared (in other words, a certain fault of mine). It is known that Brazilians suffer more in this activity due to the very high altitude. Even going to the mountains in Brazil didn't help much. I went with the guide Esteban, he is Chilean and speaks fluent Portuguese (I even thought he was Brazilian). He also speaks English, French and Spanish. The soundtrack he put on made the 4x4 trip even more exciting, seriously. We went, for example, to the sound of Sultans of Swing (I recommend).
I had to breathe and take more breaks than the group (there was a German couple and a French couple, just me to suffer, they were both very generous and always asked me if I was ok).
It arrived in a moment, with 100m to go where every step counted, it was incredible. I was already getting dizzy. But I didn't give up, I stopped and took a breath and went. This made my experience very unique and certainly the fact that I always remember it all is because of this difficulty. The wind was very strong, so even though I wanted to cover my face because it was sharp (-15 C° at 35km/hr wind) I couldn't leave my face covered, due to the difficulty in breathing. I went in Nov/2022. Curious point? a month later he had a seismic activity greater than normal, which became very famous on news sites.
I paid around BRL 650.00 to go up and breakfast.
I will definitely be back.

We visited this place in late September on a sunny day. This is amazing, breathtaking and well worth it! We saw vicunas and some of the wild birds. Purchase entrance tickets online in advance. Pick up the paper tickets at the office in Solcaire (30 mins away from the laguna). Unpaved roads and some parts especially the end to the lagoon are very sandy. careful of high altitude sickness.

Beautiful views, but...
1. You must have a pre purchased ticket you can only buy 35 minutes away, you CANNOT purchase entry at the the entrance.
2. You can't get close to the lakes. The closest is maybe 100 meters.
3. The trails make no sense, despite having direction indicators. You have to backtrack.
4. Good luck taking a photo of a flamingo, you will need a 300mm zoom lens or bigger to see them.
5. Trail/road doesn't go all the way around the lakes.
6. Incredibly rude park workers on a power trip for no reason.
Josiah Rentschler — Google review
Beautiful nature, but you are literally allowed to go NOWHERE. It is a very short hike on the first Laguna (which we couldn't even do completely because we were advised to park at the Laguna and were then not allowed to go the track in reverse. When tried got screamed at from the car). Second Laguna is even only one view from the parking lot. Really nothing to explore.
Tosan Teetzmann — Google review
Incredible site; peaceful, untouched and shockingly beautiful.
Be careful with the local guides as they can get quite rude as it happened to me and my wife. (Our fault was to walk a trail the opposite direction it was marked.)
You can see Vicuñas and other animals walking around and birds fighting the winds.
Jorge Uribe — Google review
It’s a so beautiful, again beautiful lake. The scenery is so spectacular, and vivid blue of the lake and the sky.
The altitude is more than 4,000m. So, please be careful for your body situation.
It’s better to go by the tour from San Pedro de Atacama.
It was one of the best place in my life.
Papipupenta — Google review
Stunning. Nice hike along Miscanti- be aware that you’re not supposed to park by the bathrooms. This isn’t clear! There’s parking just before you arrive at the bathrooms, apparently. Little windy and chilly, so bring warm clothes. Great place to view vicuña, too.

This review is mostly for self-organised tours (aka rented car).
Tickets: buy the tickets ahead of the trip on their webpage. This is really important as you don’t seem to be able to do it differently. Combine this trip with Piedras Rojas about 40mins up the road (total additional trip will take 1.5-2hrs extra but well worth it). You need to get your entry ticket at Socaire. Make sure to take a picture of your order number, in theory you get QR code in email but it didn’t work for me (it worked 1 out of 2 times). They still found the booking with the order number.
The drive is on tarmac until the fork after which you have maybe 5km on dirt road but the quality was good. We left San Pedro around 8am and arrived 9.30 beating most of the crowds on our trip (maybe we were lucky).
Very beautiful location and dramatic setting with large volcanoes in background. We didn’t see any flamingoes on our trip, though.
Alexander Kolb — Google review
The lakes were beautiful as was the drive down to Aguas Calientes. A lot of people seem to complain about the ticketing process but it does say on the website that you have to drop by Socaire to pick up physical tickets. Not such a big deal as it’s on the way.
The drive down to Aguas Calientes was worth it also for the scenery along the way- reminded me a bit of Iceland .
Nikos — Google review
The place is 5/5 beautiful. But the ticket booking system is such a disappointment that makes it 3/5.
You’ll need a lot of patience and sacrifice your privacy to successfully book the tickets. There are a lot of forms with a lot of repetitive questions to fill.
They require visitors to arrive one hour in advance but it’s not necessary.
Guanchen Zhu — Google review
Yes, the view is nice but not sure it is worth it for the price and the way it is managed. The staff is just there to control your ticket that you need to buy and pick it up in advance and to told you, without a smile, all the things you are forbidden to do (the list is long...)
You need to park the perfect way, backward, but warning if you park in the angle to choose the right side, even when there is a already a car parked in this side...
You have no freedom on this site (first place where even jumping is forbidden...) and you can only follow few miradors without a real walk.
You see the lagunas so far that you cannot see the animals even with a 300mm zoom.
There is no panels to explain anything (there is a little bit that are almost unreadable and not constructive).
The road is long and really harsh even with a big pick-up.
What a pity to not knowing how to welcome the tourists with consideration and not cash cow!
Ludovic Fontaine — Google review
It is at least ridiculous that you are forced to reserve online...a lake that belongs to nature. Unbelievable!!! Never seen such a thing, nowhere on earth. And you are not even able to buy this ticket at the entrance when no other cars or people are there! Really, this makes no sense at all! I've travelled through sooo many countries around the World and never have seen such a bad behaviour to tourists! I'm saying to you that I've driven for two hours to reach to this lake and you say that i can't even buy a ticket here.. Don't let me even drive till there if i don't have a ticket!
You do this in order to protect nature and the natural reserve..? And how does this makes sense? I would be curious to know, really!
Hopefully we visited the stunning scenery of Uyuni salt flats and other Bolivian and Peruvian wonders amongst with the super friendly Bolivian and Peruvian People.
Either way, coming all the way from Europe just to visit lakes that are "protected" buy super rude people wouldn't make any sense at all!

Beautiful and peaceful place. We arrived at gate opening time (9am-February) and were the second car to enjoy the peaceful and quite landscape. Buy your ticket online and convert your QR code in Socaire for a physical ticket. We came here with a rental 2WD suv. Last 10minutes are unpaved. You pay park fee so nature will be preserved here. That's worth it for me.
Brend V — Google review
This place should be free to visit. It’s a pair of lakes. Nice, but nothing to charge a fee over. At least fix the dirt road that goes on for 4 miles if a fee is being charged; worst dirt road we’ve encountered in 3 weeks of driving around.
You gain access via an archaic booking system that practically asks about your family tree, and then you have a time-stamped window to arrive. Lots of hoops to jump through for a lake view.
Alex E — Google review
This place is literally breathtaking, it is situated over 4.000m above sea level. Entrance fee is 3000CLP/pax. You will see here also some vicuñas drinking from the Lagunas or running around. The way uphill is not a beautiful one of you chose to drive a small city car, but still doable, so don't give up.

I'll never travel to Humahuaca without this trip planner again
The Hill of Seven Colors, also known as Cerro de los Siete Colores, is a stunning natural wonder in Argentina. This jagged rock formation boasts a mesmerizing display of pastel hues including lavenders, oranges, and yellows. While it may be challenging to spot all seven colors at once, the morning sun illuminates the rocky surface with a breathtaking spectrum of colors.

For avoiding crowds and heat go there around 4:30pm… its free and amazing short walk :)
Pirates Life — Google review

As for the natural, the Hill itself is a beauty, it is very impressive to see the different shades and the size it has. Depending on the time you approach it, the tone of each color is different, the way it shines, everything.
Likewise, the fair that is located there does not contribute much to the visit, they sell the same as in Purmamarca, Humahuaca, so it really is not a big deal.
It is a pity that it is such a busy viewpoint, it is almost impossible to appreciate the Hill without someone crossing it, much less take a photo where it can be seen. I logically understand that it is an obligatory stop for tours that come to the area, especially on the way to the Salinas Grandes.

P.º de los Colorados is a picturesque short hiking trail that winds around a mountain displaying a vibrant array of colors. The 3km route offers stunning views of the ever-changing tones of the mountain, creating a mesmerizing natural palette that shifts with the sun's angle. It's an ideal spot for leisurely walks amidst nature's colorful spectacle.
Super cute square that holds the local vendors and good spots for photos!

The bustling and vibrant central square is brimming with numerous souvenir vendors offering a vast selection of items, ranging from llama keychains to pillowcases, all available at reasonable prices. There's a lively atmosphere with live music and locals enjoying themselves with dancing and beer nearby, making it an entertaining spectacle to witness.

Great spot to people watch and buy souvenirs in Purmamarca. Lots of vendors setup around the square. And we really liked the tortillas filled with cheese and corn (relleno de queso y choclo).

Lively and colorful main square with hundreds off souvenir stands. You get everything from llama keychains to pillow cases, all to fair prices. Delicious torta asadas can be bought for 30 pesos in every corner of the square. There are often live music and locals dancing or drinking beer nearby, fun to watch!

Dozens of stalls and shops all selling the same things. How do they make a living? However it's lively and very colourful with all the wonderfully coloured scarves and towels. The main reason to visit is to see the Cerro de Seite Colors. Hill of 7 colours which is just behind the plaza. That is amazing

soo lovely village! go there if you want to relax for a few days. the plaza 9 offers traditional stuff on a daily base.

The plaza is a natural 'tourist trap' with locals trying to sell their colourful artisans to tourists who are there to see the 7 colour mountain.
The Santa Rosa de Lima Church, dedicated to the patron saint Santa Rosa de Lima, showcases a simplistic architectural design with single towers and sturdy adobe walls covered in lime. Positioned on stone foundations, the church is surrounded by two remarkable carob trees on the adjacent street, one of which is believed to be over 600 years old. These ancient trees provided shade for General Manuel Belgrano's troops during the fight for independence.
This town surrounding this church is just wonderful, while traveling around on day-trips we still came back here to spend the night. This church and this beautiful wise tree is holding the community together. I like this town the most. For north european and scandinavian here is some delightful estethics and cleanliness and order. Seems like people live well, their houses are well taken care of and looks like everyone is enjoying the beauty of this valle even the Virgen.

(Translated by Google) The church is the only monumental building in the town and perhaps the most important. Its origin would date back to the 17th century, according to data on the lintel of the entrance door of the façade (1648). It was built with native materials that still exist: adobe walls and a roof made of cardón wood and clay cake.
The altar, with completely simple characteristics, tends to revalue the image of Saint Rose arranged in a niche perforated in the wall, with important Cusco paintings on the sides. A smaller Cuzco series also hangs on the sides: ten oil paintings of scenes from the life of the patron saint.
The chapel, placed under the patronage of Santa Rosa de Lima, was declared a National Historical Monument in July 1941. The celebrations in honor of the saint take place on August 30 with the participation of all its faithful.
