The plaza in front of the church is big and nice. When you come into the church you feel so happy because it is the place where a wonderful miracle took place. The renovation of the holly mother painting. You descend trough a corridor and you arrive to the place that is located under the church's altar. There is a T.V set that presents a video clip that helps the visitors understand clearly what happened. You can not miss it.

The first time seeing the Virgin at the blanket at the Cathedral inside is magnificent and wonderful how every detail on the architecture of the building tells a history like the eye inside of the pyramid that is always watching the precious artwork where the Virgin Mary appeared hundreds of years ago.

Wow! Wow! Wow! A stunning church dedicated to Our Lady, a must-visit for those on a spiritual pilgrimage or who just love good architecture and religious art. The side altars, the historic art, the stained glass, the frescos, and the altar are just all magnificent. You can also just feel the presence of Our Lady there. Chinquinquira is a bit cold so make sure to bring a jacket! The church is in a bit of disrepair though in some areas, which hopefully will one day be addressed. It seems that a lack of respect or value is given to the historical value and architectural beauty of the town, which hopefully will one day change. A gem of a town, come and see it before more of the historical buildings disappear.

The Basilica in the historical center is an experience in itself. There are a lot of legends associated with the Virgin. Take time to appreciate the architecture, the spiritual experience and the ambience. The church is huge and the statues are life like. There definitely is positive energy flow inside the sanctum sanctorum.

This beautiful Basilica started being built in 1796. The square, where it’s located, has restaurants and bars for you to enjoy the magnificent view of the façade of this catholic minor basilica.

You need to walk from the gate to visit 6 small lakes. Thery have given directions, walk trail is pleasant but you get constant sound of motorbikes which run towards the lake paralley. No place to sit and relax.
Satish Gore — Google review
It’s so saddening that is so noise with people and bikes and full of trees that are not endemic. People built rock cairns without understanding the damage of them to the habitat. No options to be early and do birdwatching. The water ponds are awesome but there’s no information about the depths or reasons for its colors. No QR codes either.

Beautiful place, it's better to take the tour with a group of friends or family to be able to explore the place and take advantage of the time.
The ATVs and buggies are good and it's really funny drive them.
Ps: don't wear dark clothes and take with you some glasses because vehicles generate al lot of dust.

A lovely place , what I recommend for this particular place . Bring a pair of very comfortable shoes , bring a backpack for family , bring your camera , your phones , and a few bottles of waters depending of the family . Yes it’s really easy going down , but harder to come up , (nothing new/this is normal) the walking it’s about 1 hour going and coming back , because you stop and take pictures and admire the every single Pozo . Do not drink the water, don’t play with it , it has so much minerals that are toxic for human and pets . Don’t let your pet on the loose because they can drink from the water . This is totaling like hiking , so with that being said , bring also a hat , and mosquitoes repellent , just in case , some days are very hot and there aren’t many shadows , there is a bathroom and a shopping bodega at the entrance , and also another bathroom and a bodega when you get downstairs almost on the way where you start coming back up . Very basic things they sell . Mostly drinks and snacks . Is it worth it ? 100% 😎! Beautiful views, beautiful pics . I will recommend to go around midday if possible it’s when the sun 🌞hits the water more and you can see thru it ! Loved it !
Gabriel Torres — Google review
It's beautiful and quiet, very nice walk but keep away of this after a storm. It would be nice to have some kind of guidance or information about the lakes and the zone. You can walk all the way from the entrance to the exit in 30-40 minutes

Nice place for a walk from Villa de Leyva, it's around 30 min walk to get there but if you don't like to walk too much, there is also a bus... There are few lakes but the surrounding area and the view is beautiful 😊
Amazing place to learn about these huge creatures and how this country was almost all under water millions of years ago. Loved it!

Perfect place to visit with children. The guided visit to the museum is short and very engaging. There is a large collection of fossils very neatly displayed.
You can get an additional experience which consists in making your own fossil and digging for fossils.
It was worth it. The kids LOVED IT. And the admission is very affordable.
Overall an excellent experience especially if you are traveling with children under 12.

This was a much loved experience! It's a small museum but they have a lot of knowledge and information! Great exhibits. We had a non-dinosaur/fossil enthusiast with us and they even enjoyed themselves! Definitely worth a visit.
We arrived 40mins before closing time on a Monday and we're the only ones there.

Paleontological museum of this region of Columbia and the animals it inhabited. It is a very good guided tour that last 30 to 40 minutes. Features several fossils of animals ranging up to 150 million years.

A massive fossilized Kronosaurus, a Cretaceous-period crocodile relative, has a dedicated museum.
Very fascinating museum built around a massive Kronosaurus fossil. About a 1hr walk from Villa de Leyva along dirt roads and the highway, but just follow the directions and you’ll make it there! Entrance fee was 10,000 COP

Last time I visited this place it was cool but now is cooler and the guide was amazing. People must always tip them! I learned a lot and have an admiration for all the effort and work the entire community has done.
Maylin Elisa Cardenas (amateurdancer) — Google review
Incredible story. The guides through the tiny museum are fantastic. The history of the planet revealed in a small way with the creation of the Andes in Colombia. Farming at its best and the discovery of the kronosauras, one of only four fossils in the world at this location.
Grinnin' Gringol — Google review
Amazing!!!!! I don't understand how more people don't know about this place! The guide was so knowledgeable and friendly, so accommodating! Thanks, unforgettable experience!
Tata Cardona — Google review
Not much to see in this museum which is quite small and overpriced (8000 pesos)
There is no English explanations.
If you rent a bike the trip to go to the museum is nice but be aware of the tough uphill on your way back.
Romain Guillemot — Google review
Incredible place and cute museum. It makes my heart bleed to see how they encased the Kronosaurus in a strange plastered floor, but at least they saved it from being stolen and brought in some moist european capital
Chiara Bellavite — Google review
Really nice museum that keeps expanding and growing. They sell themselves as “nonprofit organization” where everything that they collect is used to expand and fund the museum.
Such a young museum and yet already owns a master piece, that also became the reason to be founded. The “Kronosaurus Boyacensis”. Unique of its kind, well kind of, there are other that were found but what makes this one unique is how complete it is and that was kept through the years in the exact same place where it was found! Quite impressive!
The ticket price is average and I strongly recommend to wait until the tour, our guide was professional and knew a lot. The museum can be quickly see, you get a brief introduction and then it goes straight to the point.
I really recommend the visit.
Also, there are some nice souvenirs made my locals that use the profits to help their families. They appreciate any contribution that can made. :)
Lucas Kovács — Google review
I love a location where they build the museum around the fossil! It is incredibly well done with good context! Every sign is in Spanish and English. They have a collection of items from all over Columbia, though mostly from their local area. It is still an impressive collection. Some displays were still under renovation when we were there. They loaned us a wheelchair for my mother without a deposit.
Shelby Grant — Google review
This museum features the skeleton of a Kronosaurus, over 100 million years old. It is a guided tour, with information about this part of Columbia and the prehistoric animals that lived here. It’s a nice little tour.
Robert Moore — Google review
Very nice and very well maintained museum. It’s very nice to see how the community has kept this very nice museum.
Jeniffer Moreno — Google review
Pretty amazing and there was absolutely no one there but me and my friends due to the decrease in tourism during these Covid times. Everyone who works there is pleasant and helpful. Reasonably priced souvenirs too.
Daniel Nastro — Google review
About 5-6km from Villa de Leyva, we cycled, you just need to climb over a hill. Its a small museum, apart from the big fossil there is not that much to see. The signs are in Spanish and English. Good for about 30min visit. There’s another little fossil museum on the main road, it’s a pity they don’t offer a combination-ticket to view both
Casa Terracota, located on the outskirts of Villa de Leyva, is a unique and quirky attraction. It is known as the world's largest ceramics structure and was originally conceived by architect Octavio Mendoza Morales as his primary residence. The building project aims to harmoniously merge architecture, design, and other arts and crafts using earth, air, water, and fire to transform fired clay into architecture.
Very interesting tourist stop. It’s a house made of mud, by a local architect. You get a guided tour of this fully functional mud house. They describe everything from the inspiration, to the construction of the building. It’s a great place to visit. Very unique!
Robert Moore — Google review
Very impressive house with nice guide and lots of art on display.
Only downside is that we cannot see the inside.
Girard Nicolas — Google review
Casa Terracota is a unique architectural marvel located in Villa de Leyva, Colombia. This unconventional structure, entirely made of clay, captivates visitors with its earthy charm and whimsical design.
The experience of visiting Casa Terracota is unlike any other. As you step inside, you're greeted by intricate clay sculptures and winding passageways that lead to various rooms and chambers. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are truly impressive, showcasing the creativity and ingenuity of the architect.
While the exterior of Casa Terracota is its most striking feature, the interior offers a glimpse into the creative mind behind this extraordinary creation. Each room is adorned with clay furnishings and decorations, creating a cohesive and immersive environment.
One aspect worth noting is the sustainability of the building materials used. By constructing the entire structure from clay, Casa Terracota exemplifies eco-friendly architecture and serves as a testament to the possibilities of sustainable design.
Overall, Casa Terracota is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Villa de Leyva. Whether you're an architecture enthusiast, an art lover, or simply curious to see something out of the ordinary, this clay house promises a memorable and enchanting experience that will leave a lasting impression.

Expensive but unique. The house not only looks atypical on the outside, it also doesn't follow the strictly rectilinear floor plans that most modern homes have.

Living in it .. I would get bored…but really a masterpiece of environmentally friendly architecture of organic forms reminiscent of the great GAUDI
Ugo Cocchini — Google review
Some people complain about the price buy I think it is such a unique structure so it is justified. If you like arts, like Barcelona and Gaudi you should stop by. It can be seen in 1h and it was not too crowded. No drone allowed if you were looking to do a video.

it cost us 25000 COP for the return taxi ride from Plaza Mayor. (paid by cash)
45000 COP per adult for Casa Terracota (can be paid by credit card)

This house is simply fantastic. A house made of clay. Unbelievable! The history of the house is also really interesting. I don't say anything else in order not to spoil it.

This home was made with clay taken from the surface of the property. The craftsmanship is amazing. The tour guide was knowledgeable and had a great personality. The method to fire the clay is impressive. Started in 1999 and finished in 2014.
This home is located in a quite small town. If you like the relaxed pace of small town over the hustle of down town Bogotá then you’ll love this place.

If you are interested in alternative building materials and how they can be applied. This is the place to go.
Plaza Mayor de Villa de Leyva is a popular destination in Colombia, featuring a large cobblestone plaza surrounded by cafes, handicraft shops, and a colonial church. The town offers an opportunity to experience Spanish colonial architecture and picturesque natural surroundings. The plaza's floor is made entirely of rocks and nearby attractions include museums, restaurants, bars, and shops selling local crafts and cuisine. Visitors can escape from everyday stress at this charming location which includes hotels for accommodation.
A must visit place if you come to Colombia. You have the chance to go back in time to a Spanish colonial style town surrounded by beautiful nature, mountains, lots to do in and out of town. The plaza's floor is all made of rocks as it was built centuries ago, but there are wonderful places to go nearby: museums, awesome restaurants and bars and typical food and craftsmanship shops.
Luis G Sepulveda — Google review
ABSOLUTELY the best place to catch the sunset if you're visiting Villa de Leyva. Beautiful expanse of cobblestone surrounded by lovely shops restaurant and let's not forget the church.... Where the bells ring (loudly) at 5:30 and 5:45 calling people to mass. Kinda wish someone had warned me before the first bell... Minor heart attack, but none the less it's a must do if you're in the neighborhood.
Lisa Adams — Google review
I haven't been here in a long time (around 20 years) but it has become a landmark in Colombia. Very crowded and touristic kid of Cartagena. The sellers here are more respectful and don't insist if you don't want to buy something.

World UNESCO site and awesome giant colonial square! It’s a beautiful place to hang out at sunset and have some Miloja!! They’re super cute streets surrounding the square to explore and the whole place is gorgeous! They also have a kite festival at the end of August every year when they fly kites around the square.
Alan Donegan — Google review
What a beautiful city center square in Villa de Leyva. It's big and really impressive to take in. Be careful walking on the cobblestones since some can stick out a bit and cause you to trip.
The church is also located here along with shops and restaurants which are nice to stroll.
Watching the sunset here while having a drink is beautiful.

Amazing place, must visit. Lots of history on this plaza. Take the tour, (la chiva) 35,000 Colombian pesos. Anymore than that is not normal. Able to take your own drinks. 1h 20min tour.

It's kind of empty, but we apparently came in the off-season, which is in February. It's nice to have a drink on the rooftop bar, which oversees the courtyard. Also, on the day we went, it was a little cold.

This is THE place to spend the cool evenings in Villa de Leyva. Surrounded by awesome restaurants that are just perfect for people watching. Not to be missed (would be hard to do). Just sit at one of the restaurants or buy a couple of beers at the shop and sit on the stairs with all the youngsters. Good way to spend the night!

Villa de Leyva's Main Square, Plaza Principal de Villa de Leyva, is a captivating destination that embodies the charm and beauty of this colonial town. Surrounded by historic buildings, quaint cafes, and artisanal shops, the plaza serves as the heart of Villa de Leyva.
One cannot help but be mesmerized by the plaza's grandeur and tranquility. The vast cobblestone square, flanked by towering trees and adorned with a central fountain, offers a serene and picturesque setting for visitors to enjoy.

Overall, Plaza Principal de Villa de Leyva is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring this charming Colombian town. Its timeless beauty, rich history, and lively atmosphere make it a memorable highlight of any trip to Villa de Leyva.

Beautiful historical Square, everything in original condition and well maintained. Great atmosphere at night time. One of my favourite stops on holidays, very relaxing and friendly place, lots of great food around here all in walking distance from the main square.
After being in Napa a few weeks ago, I didn’t have very high expectations of this Vineyard but to our surprise the experience was pretty good with a great tour led by Carlos where we learned about making wine in Colombia.
The wine, specially the Merlot, was surprisingly good...even bought some bottles to take home.
The tour was just 25k COP or about US$7.50.
My two teenage kids ate ice cream and drank juice while enjoying the very good Wi-Fi connection!!!
Highly recommended!!!

What a wonderful and pleasant wine tour. I have been to many vineyards around the world and this was excellent. Well organized and the tasting had a nice Colombian taste to it. Highly recommended!

Very slow service, and in close part of restaurant we were not allowed to sit even it was raining outside…they told us to sit ourside…. Unpolite totally… waiting for 30 minutes outside, no service yet, so we reminded them… and we got some wine, and waiting for a while fo the rest, after all there are nicer places to visit in Colombia…

It was initially a great experience. The guide was knowledgeable, tour was bit short. My wife was bitten by a bug most likely ticks and is undergoing treatment.

Nice experience. The tour was great, they show you all the place and at the end you can taste some wine.
For the transportation you can go in public transportation and walk about a kilometer if you dont have a car, or take a cab from the Bus Station of Villa de Leyva to Santa Sofia
The attention on whatsapp is not the best.

Excellent location, need to improve the bio security protocols. Good wine tasting, reduce wine options. Great place for chill with family and friends
Carlos Andres Bolivar Polania — Google review
The best thing to be said about this place is the location if it's a sunny day. We paid for the tour, wine and snacks. When we arrived they pointed us back and forth between buildings before just letting us sit outside. After 45 minutes they bought us two small glasses of wine to taste, one of which had small pieces of cork floating all through it, and some cheese in a plastic container. There was no explanation of the wine in any language (we speak a bit of Spanish) an hour and a bit later, we were the only people there and had had no mention of a tour. We then had to find them to ask about the tour. They said it was only in Spanish and sent us away. Very poor service, average wine at best. Very expensive for what it is. Honestly wouldn't bother, either as someone who does or doesn't speak the language fluently
Henry Waite — Google review
Nice place. The fee was a little bit high due to the fact that we could only taste one glass of wine. But they also tell you about the whole production process (in Spanish) which is interesting as well.
Beat Trittibach — Google review
If you want to learn a little about wine and enjoying and great moment drinking wine, it's the right place.

A nice place, cool music, very short tour. The whine is one of the worst I tasted like in my all life. I feel sorry for you Gabriela….🥺
Petit Riquet — Google review
This was the first time in my life I've thrown wine away. The Merlot smelled of kerosene and was full of sediment. The white looked like water, and both smelled and tasted of a diluted paint stripper. I really hope it wasn't...
They offered chocolate and fruit to add the missing flavour from the wine.
As for the tour, so so. And the venue was all modern and well made. Shame about the wine

The "patron" of this church is Santa Barbara, whose image is located on the facade of the church, its interiors are wide with tall decorated columns that remind the basilicas of other municipalities. It has an ossuary inside that keeps a "special" urn ... Its unfinished facade detracts from the interior. It is a must if you go to Puente Nacional.

The Paipa Thermal Complex offers a wide selection of plans, allowing visitors to indulge in various activities. With its all-natural hot springs, massages, water jets, sauna, jacuzzi, mud therapy, bubble beds, and more, the complex provides numerous options for relaxation and self-pampering. In addition to these amenities, the complex also features a fantastic water park that is perfect for spending an enjoyable day with children.
A wonderful place for family fun. There are several swimming pools with hot springs water (which usually is around 32-38°C [89-100.4°F]) full of natural salts and minerals.
There are a couple shallow pools (around 130 cm deep [4'3'']) which are great for children and also a larger pool with a maximum depth of 230 cm (7'5'') in case you're in for a good swim. Also, there are additional services such as a mud bath and a water slide (undergoing maintenance at the time of this review). The facilities are nice and provide accessible parking. The entrance fee is around six US dollars for adults at the time of this review. Children and the elderly pay a lower fee. There are on-site shops for swimsuits and other accessories at reasonable prices.
It's usually crowded during weekends and holiday seasons (Easter week in Colombia, mid-late June, early July, mid-October, December), not so much during weekdays.

Really cute spot, an abstract of all Boyacá! Small town, worth a visit!
Las Gachas is a hidden gem off the beaten path, featuring a shallow river with circular pools of varying depths formed by natural water erosion. The red rocks and clear waters resemble the famous Cano Cristales without the tourist crowds. Visitors can enjoy swimming in the water holes, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Accessible via an alternative route and a 30-minute walk from Guadalupe town, this spot offers clean, cold water to cool off in the hot weather.
Great natural place near to Guadalupe town. You have to take an alternative route before you enter to the town, and drive through it for about 5 minutes, then you park the car and you have to walk for about 30 minutes to arrive to the point. There is the place in a shallow river with a holes on the floor where you can see the water coming into that holes. Some of them are very deep but the most in not more than 1.60 mts proof. Water is clean and cold, but weather is usually hot.

The short hike to the river is not strenuous, but remember you are pretty high up, so us sea level people do have a bit of struggle due to altitude. Cascadas de Juan Curi Ecological Park offers a range of outdoor activities amidst the tranquil beauty of nature. Visitors can indulge in woodland hikes, horseback rides and rappelling at a towering cascade that ends in a natural swimming hole. The highlight of the park is the thrilling Torrentismo activity at Juan Curi Waterfall, which involves an intense 200-foot rappel down a screaming waterfall. For those who prefer less adventurous pursuits, there are scenic hikes that end at beautiful waterfalls.

Undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip. The waterfalls are simply breathtaking and we had the added bonus of visiting on a weekday when there were only a few tourists. There's an entrance fee to get into the park (around $12,000) and a short hike of about 30 minutes to get to the highest waterfall. I would class the hike as mild to moderate with a few steepish steps and some slippery areas. I especially liked that there was a circular route back (for a large part) to make the return hike a little more interesting.
Good footwear and mosquito repellent is highly advised.

Waterfall is a beautiful place but not a place for children and elders since waterfall access is a bit dangerous, if you want to get to the bottom of the waterfall, this last section is the most risky due to wet rock being slippery. A pretty and peaceful stop to while away some hours and stretch your legs. We visited with our two small kids (1 and 4 years old) while on a road trip from Bogota to Los Santos. It was an easy win with the kids - lots of squirrels, birds and turtles to check out, some interesting plants for the adults, a decent playground and good restaurant (Plates were big and we shared, otherwise you could say it is a bit overpriced). Entry is 6k per adult and we didn’t have to pay for the kids. Pool was 10k/person - we opted out.

In it, they tell the story of their dead through hand-carved stones, where they capture their jobs in order to give them a nice tribute and remember them forever.
The tombstones are made in the Artisanal Park.
Its land is reddish and makes a beautiful contrast with the green of the mountains that surround it.
A beautiful example of the artistic skills of the locals and the love they feel for their land.
Heading to the cemetery we found a carved copy of Gaudi's Last Supper.

Parque Para Las Artes Jorge Delgado Sierra, located behind Santa Barbara, is a charming garden and park featuring an array of captivating sculptures. Despite undergoing some repairs during a visit, the park's thirteen or more sculptures by artists from around the world are connected through the theme of water, creating a beautiful sight to behold. There are thirteen, if I'm not mistaken - they might be more, sculptures made by different artists from all around the world and the main theme of the park is water and all the sculptures are connected through water. It's a beautiful sight to enjoy.

Astonishing view of the Chicamocha Cayon! Santander is top on most beautiful departments to contemplate in Colombia. This park has fun natural attractions, monuments, great service and great beer, since there is a stand of local craft beer, De Los Santos, that may refresh your day. There are live performances of musicians and dancers and also plenty of restaurant to try the local food. You can easily get amazing photos and videos that will remain in your mind and phone forever! An entire one day trip.

Amazing place to visit. Nice accommodations available. Friendly staff and many restaurants and cafeterias available. The Canyon itself is extraordinary experience like nothing we have seen ever before. There is a roof on top of the park with 360 degree view. The prices are fair and nothing extremely expensive. There are many extreme sports available such as extreme swing, paragliding etc... There is cable car that takes you all the way down to the canyon and up to the other side where there are more accommodations and restaurants. Highly recommended.

Worth every penny. I read many reviews saying that the entrance fee is expensive. This park was built on the side of a canyon, that's not cheap!
Facilities are great (clean bathrooms throughout the park) good restaurants and attractions for everyone. Be ready to spend at least few hours taking in the massive views. Bring comfortable shoes and clothes.

Cable cars across the Canyon from Mesa de Los Santos to Parque Chicamocha was spectacular, about a 15 minute ride. A very clean and safe place to visit, beautiful flora all over the park. Places to eat and drink. Zip line was awesome. A very modern water park also. Approximately one hour from Bucaramanga by car. Definitely recommend seeing this majestic place.

Parque Cerro del Santísimo is a hilltop park in Floridablanca, Santander, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. The park features a 33-meter high sculpture of Jesus of Nazareth, making it a significant pilgrimage site during Holy Week. Visitors can reach the park via cable car and enjoy the stunning city vistas from the mirador.
Timing it appears is everything. We arrived at 2.30pm and there were no queues, no crowds. It was marvellous. Entertaining for kids, young and old, with the trampoline course.

If the top view on the plaza is not enough, you can go with the elevator up, which costs about 5.000 pesos to get an even higher view on top of the statue. You can buy foods, drinks, famous "Oblea".. Nice safe place to visit. At 6.15 pm is the first light show with fountains. Entrance costs 22000 COP which is to expensive for Colombians. I suggest to arrive at 5pm to see the city Bucaramanga at day and night. I took taxi till entrance, last part off road is bad. To return ask guard at entrance to call a taxi. Don't forget to eat the famous and delicious obleas (shop before entrance) with the funny names

La Casa del Libro Total, located in the heart of Bucaramanga, is a cultural center with a rich history spanning over 200 years. It offers a variety of events such as exhibitions, talks, and recitals throughout the year. The venue provides visitors with an opportunity to immerse themselves in music, poetry, painting, and literature. Additionally, it houses a digital library and serves as a tranquil space for both leisure and work.
We have been to Casa del Libro Total several times during the last week. We saw a short play, an art exhibit, a juggling performance, various multimedia presentations, performances by two wonderful guitarists and a lovely singer/songwriter, listened to a lecture on Antoine St. Exupery and viewed various videos all free.
This is a great concept for a small community performing arts center. A permanent exposition center for all of the arts privately funded by a businessman in the City who cares deeply about the availability of venues for serious artists.
