This tiny bridge played a key role in the final battle for New Granada's independence in 1819.
Amazing place to visit. Also, a must if you want to know more about Colombian history. Is free except on December because the Christmas decorations

Awesome stop at this historical set. The place is big and beautiful, full of history. There is a gentleman who usually gets near the always lit torch and gives an explanation of the events that took place here. Highly recommend it.

It was an amazing experience to visit this monument to one of the bloodiest battles for the Independence of the Americas. The flags, the sculptures, the views. Simply superb.
Alejandra Lovera — Google review
I learned a lot about the history of the Grand Colombia. The grounds are kept very nice, bathrooms and a small cafe are available. A great place to visit. Weekdays are better.
Bernard Barbour — Google review
Historic place where the battle that won Colombia's independence was fought. Very well preserved and maintained... better to visit on a week day to avoid the crowds. The small convenience store in site was nice and the attendant very helpful and knowledgeable... great place for a good photo opportunity.

This is a lean and nice historical place, to visit on the eay to other towns like Villa de leyva or Tunja
Claux GLC — Google review
Historical place with monuments, restaurants and cafeterias. Peaceful with prairies and beautiful trees. A good place to stop with your family and friends before arriving Tunja. Some monuments have been vandalized.

It is a beautiful place to visit, nice green areas and historic places great for photos. Just be aware is not very accessible friendly for prams or wheelchair.
Lina F — Google review
Is a very nice monument, in a natural setting. But the music blasting from the speakers is a real put-off. It should be a somber place to reflect about the struggle for freedom
Andrei Barbu — Google review
Enjoyed the landmark and its history. To be able to walk the same ground that was once walked on by Simon Bolivar was a special moment for me. I recommend all go and experience the emotions of the moment while you are there. You may not enjoy it if you are not into history.
Eric Hudson — Google review
This is spot where the colonial forces finally defeated the Spanish and Colombia with the surrounding countries gained their independence. A small monument but well maintained and worth a stop if only to appreciate the terrain in which the forces had to fight.
David C — Google review
A bit chilly first of all so bring a jacket. How anti-climatic! When one pictures the Bridge where the last big battle for independence was for New Granada, one does not think of a small bridge like this one haha! In any case, the area was super interesting and is very recommended for anyone looking to interact with Colombian history. The monument to Bolivar offers a sensational view and is very beautiful, as well as the monument to General Santander. My only complaint is that the highway very obviously cuts off what used to be one park dedicated the independence. While I didn't walk around the other side, I saw it through the car window and I must say that some of the monuments are in a lamentable state. Hopefully, the government does something about it
I really liked this place, despite being a bit shocking for the people that took me there that they started to charge per car. It seems that it used to be free and now there’s a 15000 COL pesos fee.
The place is quite wide to explore, there a monument to bolivar, the bridge and great views from the top. Also there are toilets, some merchants if you want a drink or something to eat and around the area there are other highlights.
This is one of the most important places to visit in Colombia, I believe, here took place the last battle that would grant Colombia its independence.

The first time seeing the Virgin at the blanket at the Cathedral inside is magnificent and wonderful how every detail on the architecture of the building tells a history like the eye inside of the pyramid that is always watching the precious artwork where the Virgin Mary appeared hundreds of years ago.

Wow! Wow! Wow! A stunning church dedicated to Our Lady, a must-visit for those on a spiritual pilgrimage or who just love good architecture and religious art. The side altars, the historic art, the stained glass, the frescos, and the altar are just all magnificent. You can also just feel the presence of Our Lady there. Chinquinquira is a bit cold so make sure to bring a jacket! The church is in a bit of disrepair though in some areas, which hopefully will one day be addressed. It seems that a lack of respect or value is given to the historical value and architectural beauty of the town, which hopefully will one day change. A gem of a town, come and see it before more of the historical buildings disappear.
S Fernandez — Google review
The Basilica in the historical center is an experience in itself. There are a lot of legends associated with the Virgin. Take time to appreciate the architecture, the spiritual experience and the ambience. The church is huge and the statues are life like. There definitely is positive energy flow inside the sanctum sanctorum.

Excellent arquitecture taking in account it was constructed centuries ago.
This is the main church of this beautiful town. The architecture is imposing on the rest of the town. The spire is so huge that it is visible from a long distance. The night light here is magical and the huge square infront of the church complements the huge spire. The church is really pretty inside too. If you visit Ubaté, my recommendation would be to visit the square both during the day and during night to admire the beautiful building.

Whether you are e experienced climber or you just want to do it for fun you will find a rock for you and if you don't want to climb you can do skyline or a nice hike. It's a beautiful place. Don't forget to get some pizza near the main street
Laura González — Google review
A great climbing area just an hour north of Bogotá! It has fantastic views of the surrounding area. There's over 3 kilometers of rock with routes range from 5.6 - 5.14a; they tend to be rated higher than they should be though, a 5.10c is more of a 5.9, a 5.9 is more of an easy 5.8. Some of the best sandstone with amazing jugs, crimps and cracks. The majority of the routes are trad with some bolts for sport routes. There's also one aid route. There's plenty of places to eat nearby with one gear store as well.

It was more touristy and commercial than expected, you have to go with a guide and a big group of people. Very slow hike up to the top, but the views and the history make it worthwhile.

The views are breathtaking, the story fascinating and the guides are very expressive. I don’t speak a word of Spanish and even I was captivated. Luckly I came with people who speak Spanish so I was able to learn the history of this beautiful place. You can leave the group to hike on your own but it’s better to stay with the group so you know where to go.

Guatavita lake was a mistycal place to indigenous chibchas who lived in the plateau and worked the gold using a missing technique to do objects to decorate the body and to gift during ceremonial rituals.
The firts conquerors searched the gold of the indigenous but they never found because were cheated. The lake has a beautiful viewpoint in the top and the tour is marvelous.

What a wonderful lac to visit and discover the history behind!
First plastic water battle are forbidden so bring you own refill botte. Toilet paper are not free ao bring some handkerchiefs with you! There’s a trail up to approximately 3100 meters to do so be prepared for going up. Arriving there there’s also restaurants where you can have a bite. If you don’t want to walk I think you can drive up there.
Alice AbiRaad — Google review
Interesting history about the Spanish's and British's involvement in attempting to drain the lake in search of gold. Good job done by the local authorities to conserve and preserve the ecosystem around the lake. Uphill walk (slightly strenuous) to the lake. Unique vegetation in the park

Beautiful park!
Came here as a tourist, took an Uber and he charge us toll but to find out it’s actually included in the fare because we went through the same one the next day and the Uber driver said it was included.
The staff are nice and informative with questions.
The park is clean, cheap, and the animals are well taken care of. I would definitely come back!

Probably one of the best Theme Parks in Colombia, full of history facts, educational interactive attractions for kids and adults. You're allowed to take food into the park, which is rare nowadays, and they even have plenty of places to have a lovely picnic whilst admiring the pristine green areas and awesome buildings. The Tash Mahal replica is outstandingly beautiful, inside you'll find an amazing spiral walkway which takes you to the top. Perfect for content creators. Please make sure to keep the park clean by taking your rubbish and disposing of it properly. Well organized and a pleasure to walk around. Kids and adults alike will love it. Secure ample parking. Highly recommend.
Another stunning South American Plaza!
Great plaza edged by a beautiful cathedral with unusual stonework. Spent two hours looking at it having a trout for lunch with a few beers on a terraced restaurant. Class day out!

A beautiful church that is an excellent example of colonial architecture. With wonderful side altars and columns. The Plaza which it resides in is also very pretty. The church definitely suffered from a poor renovation after the Second Vatican Council, as the altar that the church has now is uninspiring. It is for that last reason that the church gets 4 stars instead of 5, for its poor renovation.
S Fernandez — Google review
Beautiful cathedral. But there's road works surrounding the area, so it's a bit messy outside.

It has inside an artistic collection of salt and marble sculptures in a religious atmosphere, which is why it has been awarded the title of architectural jewel of modernity. They should be comfortable, prepared to walk, hydrated 😊. Another recommendation is, if you have physical or health problems, or are pregnant 🤰, the parking lot upstairs is better, because it is more comfortable since there are many stairs to enter.

The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira is an exceptional underground cathedral that can be reached by guided tours and features a souvenir shop. This architectural masterpiece is carved out of salt and stone, situated 500 feet below ground in an active salt mine, less than an hour's drive from Bogota. The Salt Cathedral offers a unique experience as it showcases stunning beauty and remarkable architecture.
Definitely the best place I have ever been to in my entire life. It was something that I never seen it. If you are a gamer, you might feel like you are in a dungeon that you can get the final weapon or a place to upgrade your classes.

Super cool attraction, worth a visit if you're in the area. The audio tour is definitely the way to go, and allows you to explore the space at your own pace. The whole tour is a bit of a hike, but it's not very strenuous and should be achievable for most people. The sculptures are beautifully lit and the history of the place is very interesting.
Matthew Reed — Google review
One of the coolest experiences we've had from a spiritual and architectural point of view. The work that went into this is amazing. My advice is to ditch the tour group and go at your own pace. It's much more personal this way. There are also many other great attractions, stores, and a spa inside the mine. It is a must see for all!
Jordan Joachim — Google review
I went to the other salt cathedral in the world, in Poland and liked that one much better than this one. This one was not exactly what I expected. For foreigners the tickets are around $30. The tour guide only spoke in spanish, but they did have an audio guide to purchase. It's a good idea to bring headphones for that. The first part of the tour is just crosses representing the stations of the cross. The big cathedral area was cool, but the rest of it was very commercialized... shops, coffee stands, food for sale.. I was kinda bummed it wasn't more rustic or mine/cave like. I mean they even had a movie theater down there. On the positive side, I didn't feel claustrophobic at all as the ceilings are high. Also, this mine is pet friendly and they have carts you can put your pets in as you do the tour.
Jennifer Bachman — Google review
Awesome place; really a wonder. Once you start walking into the mountain, you get a sort of sacred feeling out of all this pilgrimage through the stages of Jesus crucifixion.
I got the regular ticket, which gives you access to almost everything, but if I were to go back, I would take the premium package to have all the miner experience.
Also, make sure to buy some souvenirs to support local businesses, as this town literally survives on the salt mines.
Cam Urreat — Google review
Beautiful must see attraction. The tour was pretty informative and they even offer you an English audio device if you can’t speak Spanish. I also met some wonderful people that were traveling from other countries. It’s a sight to see.
O'Niel Anderson — Google review
Tours are available. Multiple languages are available. We had brought the premium ticket which gives you access to mine for salt, see other exhibits, and explore additional museums. It was preserved well and we had been able to spend over three hours here and still had not seen everything. The cathedral is beautiful after hearing how it was built. Active mining was also going on and it looks as if they are adding more! City tours are also available with the premium ticket price.

Truly unique but it’s not worth the time and money. We hired a driver to take us from bogota. With tragic it took over 2 hours. Then they charged 113,000 per person so it’s very overpriced. All you see are crosses of the same type and size, a few coloured LED- lights. Take the stairs down from the angel to the cathedral… it was beautiful took my mind off the 2 hour ride back.
A.L. Harris — Google review
100% must-see when visiting Bogota! There are only 2 Salt Cathedrals in the world - this one in Bogota & one in Poland. The history of each station of the cross & how it was constructed is fascinating. Audio guide in several languages, including English! Bring your own plug-in headphones. My 69 year old mother & I did (age 42) this with no problems with the terrain. Probably plan for this to be the only major activity to do that day. The rest of your day, enjoy the town!
At the end, a beautiful chapel where real weddings & weekly masses take place! Worth every penny of the admission price. So glad I didn't miss out on this! Bring water & wear comfortable walking shoes. I purchased the basic plan (see photos) and it was perfect - included the train ride at the end so you didn't have to walk the entire length back & extra small museums at the end of the Salt Cathedral tour. About 3km (roughly 2mi) total walking. Cute gift shop as you exit & some snack vendors like popcorn & ice cream.
Sarah Nally — Google review
Amazing, even though super touristic. Yes the ticket is a bit pricey, but IMHO it’s worth it as the visit really takes 1.30-2 hours to do properly. It’s so weird the shopping mall at the bottom of the cathedral… less shops would have made the place feel more authentic. Nonetheless, you can walk inside, and then go and visit Zipaquira which is a real Colombian “village” and enjoy there as well.

On a recent trip to Columbia, I decided to visit the Salt Cathedral. It's located about an hour and a half outside of Bogota, and it's a very scenic and relaxing drive. The countryside actually reminded me of Vermont in the summer.
The entrance was somewhat unassuming, but after going 180 meters down into the mines, you'll start seeing the true beauty of this place. The stations of the cross, the Cathedral and the many, many other intricate religious displays here are simply amazing!
My guide, Samara, spoke excellent English, and we had a very good conversation throughout the whole experience. 😊
Allen Herring — Google review
The place is huge. The attractions are diverse. The pictures are breathtaking. The bathrooms are cuper clean.
Things not to miss
1. Tour with audio guide (available in several languages)
2. Every hour (on the dot), there is a small 5m light display on the main church.
3. Movie explaining everything about the mine (about 20m every 30m) in 3D (on the left)
3. On the right, still water makes a mirror effect with the ceiling, which is illuminated with LED lights of different colors. **the earlier you get there, you might be able to take videos with no one in the picture.
4. There are a few historical museum-like patches, I saw one recapitulating gem excavation.
5. Further down on the left, on the way to the bathrooms, there is a small shop where you can try a combination of salt/oils for hand exfoliation and buy them 😋

It’s a bit of a drive north of Bogotá. There are lots of different salt cathedrals. After the 4th or 5th we just started wandering around. I believe there is also an available tour of an actual salt mine which in hindsight I regret not inquiring about as I think that would have been interesting.
Sean Perkins — Google review
This salt cathedral is the most amazing spot so far in my Colombia travel. The tunnels and cross are just amazing. We are lucky to see a lightning show and a wedding ceremony. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for anyone visiting Colombia. They did change different prices for the local people and foreigners.

Overall super impressive from the last time we where here which was about 10 years ago. There is stores, massage places, coffee places and of course the churches inside. I didn’t expect it to have developed so much. I do want to point out that price increase for foreigns, I know that countries all over the world do this too so I can’t really complain about it. I live in the US but was born in Colombia so this didn’t apply to me which I am glad, but I still find it weird and pretty unfair. Especially considering not all foreigns come from locations where their currency is higher than pesos so it can be expensive. On the other hand, I did like that there were translation audios for those who spoke another language (not sure what languages they had). And this is more of my personal style, but I also wasn’t a fan of having a tour person for the first half of our visit, we had a big group and it took a long time. I typically like to visit locations peacefully and to learn about it, I rather read from posters or maybe an audio. This might not apply to many but I still wanted to point that out. Even so I still loved the experience and would visit again in the future since it’s something very special and different from many tourist destinations. If this is your first time traveling to Colombian this is definitely a must go place.

Don’t make the mistake that I did, and make sure you get your ticket first, before standing in the line to get into the cathedral. If you come to the Cathedral, on the bus, you can’t miss the tickets stand. However, if you walked up to the Cathedral like I did, the ticket stand is easier to miss. It’s actually a short walk (20minutes) up to the Cathedral from the train stop. Steep, but nice.
The staff was incredibly helpful and let me skip the line to enter the cathedral the second time around, since I had to go back and buy a ticket. They also provided me with an audible tour in English, since all the “live” tours were in Spanish.

It was incredible place. It’s really worth to visit if you go to Bogota.
I’m sure you will be surprised more than your expectation.
We were impressed seeing such huge and beautiful architectures.
We went there by guide tour from Bogota.
It seems difficult to go by oneself, so it’s better to join the guide with large, small group or private.

This is one of those places on earth that you really have to experience firsthand. 180 deep inside the mountain they sculpted this amazing cathedral with so much attention to detail and commitment.
I would come back, no doubt about it, deep inside you can feel peace.

It’s nice to walk down through the mines. I especially enjoyed seeing the emeralds sticking out of the walls in the mine tunnel display. It certainly is different than seeing them mined. The tree of life is incredible. And the show was amazing. The tour was in Spanish, which I don’t speak. And the place was a blast. It will be in nice to do it all over again.

Many friends and locals spoke highly of it and recommended that we went. We are glad we did. Make sure to purchase tickets ahead of time as it will help you cut the line as it was fairly long. Bring a sweater and tennis shoes. The floor is fairly uneven and it gets pretty cool as we work your way down We are glad we did all of these things.
When you go, take your time before you go in to take pictures of the beautiful statues and the view. It is breathtaking up there. Also, stop at some of the souvenir shops. Once you make your way towards the end, there are some coffee shops where you can rest before you start your way up which you can make it by foot or by train. We recommend the train and there is no additional cost to it.

The salt cathedral is considered one of the top tourist destinations in Colombia. This attraction is carved out of a huge salt deposit that has been operating as a salt mine for two centuries. There is a small gift shop area that carries a small, but nice collection of emerald jewelry. This is a unique and interesting visit.

This is an amazing experience. I have been here a week in Bogota and this is the best thing I have seen (well, climbing Montserrat is a tie) If you can try to be near the main altar for the light show. Worth it. I attached a video of it. I was in the upper chamber during the show.

Parque De La Sal, Zipaquirá, Cundinamarca, Colombia
93 Park is a beautiful green space located in the heart of the city centre. It is perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll and has various restaurants, cafes and bars surrounding it. This is a great place to spend the weekend as some restaurants have turned into clubs. There are also two Starbucks situated within the park!
Parque 93 in Bogotá is a hidden gem, offering a delightful blend of tranquility and vibrant energy. The park boasts a plethora of food choices, with standout options like Starbucks and local options, providing an exquisite culinary experience. From local flavors to international delights, there's a dish to satisfy every palate.
The beauty of the scenery is truly captivating, creating a serene escape amidst the urban hustle. Lush greenery, well-maintained paths, and charming water features make it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing afternoon picnic.
I particularly loved the amount, size, and greenery of the trees in this particular area.
For those seeking a laid-back atmosphere, Parque 93 is a haven. The ascetic charm of the park, combined with the diverse food offerings, makes it an easy-going destination for locals and visitors alike. Whether you're a food enthusiast or someone craving a tranquil retreat, Parque 93 delivers a harmonious experience that leaves a lasting impression.

I used to live near the park and i would always run in the mornings. It is a centrally located venue near to zona T and Parque de la 93. Virrey park is good for jogging or walking your pets. During the year it serves as the location for many fans and festivals. Restrooms though are The only thing that is missing 😕...

Stopped here after dinner to just walk around and definitely Safe to hang out at night as a single woman - there’s so many people out. There are play spaces for kids, but at night it’s gonna be a lot of teenagers/couple. With the surrounding cafés and restaurants in Parker great to just hang out and talk for a place of a space for greenery.

It’s a beautiful little park for kids... it has areas assigned by age group with signs, it also has security guards. The sand pit is great, along with the boat, and the climbing spider ball. Kids absolutely love this park! I wish they would close it off with small/short gate since it’s a very business oriented area and a lot of grown ups also like to hang out. The grassy area has a lot of events but it’s mostly for dogs and grown ups.

The park was okay uneventful. I didn't notice the park benches had no seats so there was no place to sit. I did not locate a water fountain. There was enough shade it was a relaxing environment
Monserrate is a popular tourist attraction in Bogota, with views of the city and the surrounding mountains. The peak is over 3000 meters high, and there are a church and shrine on the summit. There are restaurants and bars at the top, making it an easy place to spend a day.
Beautiful views, the ride up was fantastic, there are places to exercise, places to worship, places to take selfies and places to grab a bite to eat or even a souvenir.
The only thing I'd advise is wear comfortable shoes, the lines are LONG not only to buy tickets, but to get on the ride up and ESPECIALLY the ride back down.

Great experience. We bought our tickets online. We did wait a while. We rode the train up and the rail down. Beautiful view once we got to the top. Whew we were tired walking up the steep hill LOL but so worth it. They have restaurants on site and many vendors. We did eat at one of the restaurants and it was good. The vendors are much more than on the streets so we didn't buy any souvenirs. I loved the view of the city. I definitely recommend anyone to visit if you're in Bogota.

A must visit spot in Bogota. You can reach the top either via the funicular or by walking up.
The funicular ride is around 5 minutes and the scenery is excellent (the windows are a bit dirty, however). The views from the top are fantastic- you can see the entirety of the Bogotan metropolis. There’s a brief walk at the top to reach the sanctuary. There are also multiple shops to purchase food, drinks and trinkets.

This is a must do when in Bogota. Monserrate can be super crowded though but the views are amazing and rewarding! If you want to skip the line when going up, you can purchase a ticket in the fast lane and have access with preference. We walked the way back. Although it’s only 600 m difference in altitude, the climb down is still challenging because the path is rocky and pretty steep. It is a great experience though!!
A.E. Schipaanboord — Google review
Make sure that you don’t visit on weekends or holidays. When many people are off of work, the place is full of people wanting to climb the mountain and it makes it extremely difficult to walk because there isn’t enough space for so many people standing so closely together.
Other than that, it is a beautiful view at the top and there is a famous church and many vendors and restaurants to eat and shop.

We visited after New Year to see the lights and the view of Bogota. Monserrate is a great place to visit this time of year. The lights are great. You can mingle, walk, relax, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy the view of Bogota. We didn't do the hike, took the cable car up and the train down. Both are worth the experience.

Magnificent view over the city. I would recommend coming at lunchtime so you can have a leisurely lunch there and enjoy the view.
Please note that the prices for Sunday and the remaining days differ.
But the crowds on Sundays are many times higher and the view also closes at 6 p.m.
Otherwise, you can easily spend 2 hours here and if you're willing, you can also walk up.

Is a trip to Bogota complete without a visit to Monserrate? Definitely worth it, especially as a first-timer in Bogota. There are a few options to get to the top, among those the teleférico. At the top, you have a church, the stations of the cross, and a couple restaurants/cafes. The only downside I would say is that we stood in line about 20-25 minutes just to take the teleférico back down (this was at about 8:00 pm). Otherwise, it was a really nice experience. Be sure to dress warm as it’s chilly at the top!
Reema Azar — Google review
We went on a rainy day so we didn't walk up. They have a teleférico option as well as a funicular option, which is a train lift. We took the train. Was crowded even for a rainy day. When you get up you have to walk a bit further up seeing stations of the cross of Jesus's crucifixion. There is a church which has mass at noon. There are bathrooms, restaurants and shops there. Things are pricier than back down before. Great views of Bogotá.
Li Ro — Google review
If you like city views, there is no better place then Monserrate to check out Bogota from above. You have there options to get to the top, from a ferry, a lift or simply hike it up through a paved way. If you’re not used to the altitude Bogota sits in, I suggest don’t walk it or take your time. You will be going from 8k feet above sea levels to almost 11k feet. I normally go work out hiking it in the mornings but occasionally see tourist grasping for air while hiking. They sale fruits and beverages along the way. Once up there you can enjoy a mass service at the church, you can go eat at the many restaurants up there as well as buy some souvenirs to take back home. Totally recommend going. If you are coming during Christmas, worth going up at night to see the decorations. Just arrive before 5 so you can enjoy the sunset as well

Absolutely a must go/see in Bogota! This is the second time I was here and the view doesn't bore me for a minute! You can buy tickets on the spot. For tourists with credit cards: they also have special machines where you can buy tickets. These are not practically past the ticket office. Ask for them: saves you a lot of time! Next, take the cable car to the top. There you can walk around and enjoy the view. Note: during sunset it can be crowded and then everyone wants to go down at the same time. The waiting time can then be at least an hour. Make sure you have warm clothes on or go to one of the restaurants.
Eduard Verbaarschot — Google review
Make sure you don't visit on a weekend as the path to the summit is packed! The view from the summer is spectacular as well as the church at the top. A great pilgrimage opportunity, where one can pray the rosary while climbing up the steps and contemplate the view between decades.
S Fernandez — Google review
Beautiful place. You will feel the elevation when you are up there. There are artisanal vendors and street food after the church in case you don't want to eat at the sit-down restaurants. However the restaurant reservation pre-pay comes with ticket and speed pass to the train/cable car
David Lizama — Google review
Monserrate offers a breathtaking view and a variety of shops, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The option to reach the top via steps or a cable car adds to the experience. However, our main drawback was the extremely long wait, which dampened our overall enjoyment. Despite this, the stunning scenery and amenities make it a worthwhile visit with some patience.
Doresa T — Google review
Another church on top of a hill. Its interesting. Very crowded on Sunday. Great views of Bogota. Both the cable car and funicular are the best way up. The walk takes over an hour. They have an express lane for tickets and I suggest you take advantage of that.

Beautiful and incredibly challenging hike. I have only gone Sunday mornings (6-7am) and it is very busy. The hike is definitely strenuous but there are many places to stop along the way to rest. The flora at the top is very beautiful and so are the views. Beware if it starts to drizzle or rain, the stones / path can get extremely slippery.
Laura C — Google review
Beautiful views. We took the funicular up and then decided to hike down. The local school was having a hike so there were a lot of kids in sweatpants running around and having fun.
The trail down is well maintained with police officers posted at regular intervals.

There is a long hike and also cable car to go to the top.
I did the hike. The hike is gorgeous: Nice nature and beautiful views of the city while you climb. The path is wide and nice.
Many people climb this. Many locals. So it is a nice way to get a feeling about the people
At the top, there is a lot of shop and resturaunts and amazing view of the city

Nice view point.
Accessible by cable car or funicular. Buy tickets in advance, fast track recommended.
Going down by food is a nice option, it takes about 50-60min.
Diana Špoljar — Google review
During my visit the funicular was getting repairs, so the cableway was the only option. Excesive long lines (about 3 hours) I purchased a fast line ticket but had to wait long anyway. The cableway is old and not very efficient, but works. At the top you get a 360 view of the city and you have the fancy restaurants getting downwards or the usual food stand going upwards (I chose the latest). Plenty of souvenirs (little pricy in my opinion).

a good option to spend your time if you are in Bogotá. In fact I thought that I would see an open and big place but no. I asked by WhatsApp that there is a need for reservation or not and they replied that "no". But especially weekends a bit crowded. because of this they are asking reservation. We went with our son, 5 years old and he can climb to the top without any difficulty. There are 2 big tents. In the first you can see 2 big eagles. in the second there are 2 big eagles, owl and some interesting birds. In other side of campus there are rattons and some kinds of insects. Entrance is 30.000 COP for one and autoparking is 4000 COP. It's not amazing but it can be try. Personel is good and helpful. Giftshop is unenriched. It should have more kinds.
The Gold Museum in Bogota is a museum dedicated to the history of gold and its use by different indigenous groups in Colombia. The museum has an extensive collection of pre-Hispanic gold pieces, as well as other artefacts from the country's pre-Hispanic cultures. It is open to the public on Sundays, and has a small entrance fee.
One of the best museums I have been to in South America. Seniors free which I never understood. More money then regular people and likely travelling. Well laid out, well labeled, interesting and some unique pieces. A must see

Great collection. However, the organization of the exhibition is terrible. Everything is just spilled around to be seen by the public. Very basic explanations (when they exist) and zero effort in making a logical and interesting distribution.
Basically, you finish the visit having learned almost nothing new and understanding very little from all those incredible rich cultures and period.

Yesterday I visited The Gold Museum in Bogotá. It is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history and culture of Colombia.
The museum displays a selection of pre-Columbian gold and other metal alloys, such as Tumbaga, and contains the largest collection of gold artifacts in the world.
The museum was founded in 1939 when the Poporo Quimbaya was acquired by the Central Bank of Colombia. The Poporo is a device used by natives to store small amounts of lime produced from sea shells. The museum’s collection has grown to include more than 55,000 individual pieces of gold, many of which were crafted into necklaces, ornaments, and sacred items by Colombia’s indigenous communities.
I throughly enjoyed the collection and content in this great museum!

This is a good place to go and burn about 45 minutes. It has a good amount of golden artifacts along with other items that predate the Spanish conquest. It does a good job of telling the story of indigenous peoples and their customs. I would recommend the audio guide although you don’t need it as most of the museum does have descriptions in both English and Spanish.

Botero Museum is a museum in Bogota, Colombia, that features the works of Colombian artist Fernando Botero. The museum is located in the historic neighbourhood of the Candelaria and is free to the public.
This museum is a must see when visiting Bogota. Located in the historic area of La Candelaria. It was great to see so many pieces of Botero’s work up close. Other great works (Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Degas...) are present as well. The interior garden courtyard with its fountain is very peaceful and is a nice backdrop for photos.

Three Museums day
Well today was a visit to three museums in close proximity to each other in Bogota. The military museum, the police museum and Botero Art museum. This is a collective entry as they are all about the same excellent standard, have the same amenities, all are free and all have the same pitfall of limited or lack of English signage/audio assistance. All are of a moderate size with cafes and toilets. Allow 1-2 hours for each one.
Military Museum: Interesting and obviously stocked with a historical variety of firearms, cannons and a few vehicles and airframes. Well set out and presented over several floors.
Police Museum: Again interesting and also well stocked with a variety of firearms over several floors. A few interesting rooms worth a look at too especially the ‘war against drugs’ room.
Botero Art Museum: I am not a big fan of Fernando Botero but I must be in the minority seeing as he’s worth over $200,000,000. Anyway a really well laid out multi floored museum again. As well as a large amount of Boteros work, paintings and sculptures, there are notable pieces by Picasso, Renoir, Bacon and Monet which I didn’t expect.
All in all a good day’s sightseeing.

Botero has a unique art style that I’m not a huge fan of but the space is amazingly well put together and it is free. Highly suggest to come and take a look. Some pieces there are unique to the artists. The plaza down the way is also great. The layout makes it great to walk through

Not a big fan and don’t have taste in enjoying museums and art. Nevertheless this style by Botero is so different and entertaining. It helps a bit to read about it. And what a man making it a deal to make sure his exhibits won’t be sold or charged for. This museum is free. Legend !!

WOW! The Botero Museum was such a great place to visit while my stay in Bogota. I had a smile ear to ear as I walked through the museum and see one great art piece after another. It made me so happy to be there and see what great work the artist Botero has compiled. Make sure you stop by and appreciate his work. Some are really big and I was left astounded by his creativity and talent. I am a huge fan of Botero. Thank you! I am very fortunate to visit this museum.

An absolute must-see when in Bogota! Admission is free, and you can explore the works of the legendary artist Fernando Botero. While the museum is centered around Botero, there are also works by Picasso and Joan Miro. Take around 2 hours to explore this site in the heart of La Candelaria.

Bolero way of drawing is unique, he love big bodies. It's not my taste. But he is one of a kind artist 🎨. My his soul rest in peace.

I found Botero's work fascinating and simple to relate with, especially when viewing his "Pájaro"(bird) artwork. Reminds me of the dove, who was trying to scare me away from the hotel's jacuzzi this morning. His irreverent sense of fun and joy of life captured on the canvas makes me smile.

This is an amazing museum to see arts from Botero, Picasso, Edgar Degas, Monet, Renoir, Dali, Max Ernst and several other famous artists. I went on Sunday and entrance was free. It is a small museum and it can be visited within 1-2 hours.

Soooo good. Seeing a few special Botero, Calder, and Dali pieces in person is worth the trip. His paintings and sculptures up close, especially in this location, are so amazing.

Hit it 👍🏿! Definitely a must visit. It was such a cool experience. The art inside was beautiful and thought provoking. There was a cafe inside if you want to take a break. Also, it is free!

Great museum with free entrance and not only a number of Botero works, but also many paintings from his private collection. There are works by Dali, Picasso, Miro, Gaugin, and a number of French impressionists. Also a few early sketches by Picasso and Botero which was very cool to see! The building is very beautiful as well with a very green inner patio.

Good if you are interested in art beyond the classic stuff, or if you find the idea of chubby paintings funny. I'm on the second tier but I'm quite ignorant of other matters of art.
However, I think the organisation and care of the building are incredible. The people working there are really nice and helpful.

Admission was free.
The Botero Museum was very interesting. Lots of paintings and sculptures. There are other museums connected. I highly recommend it.
Appropriate for children. There is some National Geographic type nudity, but nothing I consider inappropriate for children.

Admission to the museum is free. The building itself is really beautiful to walk through and there's a really lovely collection of art including Picassos, Monet, Renoir, among others in additon to the Boteros. There isn't much information posted about the art but it's still a really pleasant way to spend an afternoon. If you really love art, I'd say you could expect to spend a couple hours there.

Excellent and beautiful Museum in La Candelaria neighborhood , Bogota. All the works were donated by famous Colombian Painter Fernando Botero. A wonderful collection of his most important works and paintings including his own private collection from other painters like Picasso, Matisse and others.
This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Bogota. It’s definitely a place for art lovers who appreciate Botero’s art.admission is free of charge. The best gift Botero gave his country and people before he died!

This is a great museum and a can’t miss destination when you’re in Bogota. First of all it’s free so you can’t beat that, however, I would totally pay if I had to. This place is obviously filled with many paintings and artifacts from Botero but it also has paintings from other famous artist. As you walk from room to room it’s interesting and also funny to see his oversized depictions of people, fruits and animals.

This is an amazing museum, part of a larger complex. There are three aspects to the Botero collection: his private collection, including works of Picasso, Renoir, Chagall, Kokoschka, Max Ernst, Pissarro, his paintings and sculptures. I personally enjoyed the latter. I liked the humour of his art. I was always wondering what happened between Leda 💃 and the swan 🦢. Now, I know🫣.
I spent more than 4 hours in the complex, including the nice restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Rainer Gruen — Google review
It was a free entry, which was surprising. I do not know much about art from botero but as you enter and familiarize with his art you can tell is very different from others. A thing that i didnt enjoy that much is that if you go by your own methods, there is no guidance, you go wherever you want…Although, it can be seen as something good, as someone that does not know much of art. I would have liked to have someone to explain some of the art. Overall, good experience, because as I said it was free.

This is such a beautiful museum. The house itself is amazing and the art is pristine. The environment is delightful and the personnel are so nice and helpful.
Plaza de Bolívar, also known as Simon Bolivar Square, is a large park located in the heart of Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. It is surrounded by important buildings with notable architecture, such as the Cathedral and Congress. The most recommended museum nearby is the Botero Art Museum, which has a group of cute "fat guys" waiting for visitors to discover.
This is a great city square of Bogota that actually resembles the city square in Lisbon quite a bit. The new Hall of Justice isn't open just yet, but already looks beautiful. The style actually compliments the cathedral next store while both buildings maintain their identity.
With the nearby street art of La Candelaria nearby it's a no-brainer to check out!

This is an incredible look into the heart of Bogota, Colombia, and is full of cultural history, government buildings, museums, and street vendors. The pigeons love to be fed and will pose for pictures if you have corn. There are plenty of places to purchase pigeon bait, human bait, and date bait. If you visit Bogota, this is a must-see on the list of places to go. Take a stroll through the history of Simon Bolivar y el Gran Colombia with the rich culture and history up and down these streets along the plaza.

Loved seeing the artisans and their products all around the square. Another highlight was feeding the pigeons. Dirty, I know, but also a unique experience.

THE Plaza of Colombia. Nice statue of Simone Bolivar. Impressive buildings with Bogota mayor's building, Colombian legislature, Presidents residence nearby, a beautiful church. It also has the history of the cartel and government fighting that destroyed a building.
John Harris — Google review
There is a lot of culture and things to do here. The best days to go are Sunday and Saturday. On those days the square is usually very lively and full of people. The street vendors might annoy you if you do not buy anything from them. It is mostly safe, just exercise caution and have common sense. There is also a beautiful basilica here too. A lot of people normally sit on the steps and eat or watch performances.

This is the epicenter of everything. Kind of messy, but nice. One block away is the presidential palace, guard change is something you should experience.

Plaza de Bolivar in Bogota is a captivating hub of historical and cultural significance. Surrounded by iconic landmarks such as the imposing Cathedral of Bogota, the stately Palace of Justice, and the striking Capitolio Nacional, the plaza serves as a focal point for both locals and tourists alike.
The plaza's grandeur lies not only in its architectural marvels but also in its rich history. Named after Simón Bolívar, the liberator of several South American countries, the plaza embodies the spirit of independence and revolution. Visitors can't help but feel the weight of history as they stroll through its expansive grounds.

The atmosphere is lively and infectious, offering a glimpse into everyday life in Bogota.
For tourists, the plaza serves as a gateway to Bogota's cultural treasures. Its central location makes it the perfect starting point for exploring the city's museums, galleries, and historic sites.
In conclusion, Plaza de Bolivar is more than just a square—it's a symbol of Bogota's rich heritage and a vibrant gathering place for locals and visitors alike. A visit to this historic plaza is a must for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the heart and soul of Colombia's capital city.

The main historical square and old centre
Really big and unique, and the surrounding buildings tell their own tale of architecture and colonisation. Well worth a walk, but not much to do abound here. An idea would be to visit here on Sunday, to experience the atmosphere and street food, and then walk down the main street towards the flee market. For almost 2 km of closed pedestrian road you will experience all the fun and vigour or Colombia in a safe and busy way

The Plaza de Bolivar is my favorite place to visit in Bogotá. The architecture is beautiful and the pigeons are friendly. You can put out your arms and they will land on you. You can buy gorgeous beaded necklaces on the side streets off the plaza.

Plaza Bolivar in Bogotá, Colombia, is a living testament to the historical significance of Simon Bolivar in South American independence. Surrounded by iconic buildings that narrate tales of the past, the square stands as a symbol of resilience and freedom.
The architecture of historic buildings like the Capitol, the Cathedral, and the Palace of Justice adds a timeless charm to the plaza, transporting visitors to an era of revolutionary fervor. The very ground beneath your feet echoes the footsteps of those who fought for the liberation of South America.
What makes Plaza Bolivar truly special is the vibrant contrast it embodies. While steeped in history, the square is also a dynamic hub of contemporary life. Street performers, local vendors, and the lively energy of daily activities create a seamless blend of the past and present. It's a space where history breathes alongside the pulse of modern Bogotá.
In essence, Plaza Bolivar is not merely a square; it's a convergence of timelines, a place where the echoes of independence harmonize with the rhythms of today. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of South American history while experiencing the vivacity of Bogotá's present.
I have been going to this particular square since I was a kid, and it's a well-known tradition to feed the birds with corn. They are everywhere, and its a fun activity to do with family. I did as a kid, and to watch my kids do it and enjoy it as much as myself has been a blessing.

It's a full on plaza. There used to be less people selling stuff and now half of the plaza is full of vendors. I'm not sure if that was a temporary market or it's permanent though. We tried the caña de azúcar juice and it was delicious! They have lots of juices to try and beautiful souvenirs.

In A Nutshell:
-Biking Bogota located in the very nice neighborhood called Ciudad Salitre Oriental was the perfect place to rent a bike for the day.
-I was able to email them to make a reservation before my trip to Bogota a couple weeks in advance.
-I knew I was going to need a bike for the Sunday "Ciclovia de Bigota" where the city closes down large swaths of roads to allow bikes/people exercise, it's such a memorable & fun experience.
-Paulo was very friendly & helped make sure my bike was the right fit.
-She also provided a helmet, bike lock & a map.
-The price for 4 hours was around $20, which was very good.
Overall, I highly suggest renting your bike from Biking Bogota you won't be disappointed!

We had a great time biking la ciclovía on Sunday! The process to rent bikes from Biking Bogotá was easy and smooth. Everyone was so kind. We were given a map with directions and time time estimations for how long it would take, which was really helpful since we rented bikes for 4 hours. You can rent bikes for longer, but la ciclovía ends at 2:00pm so we felt 4 hours was best for us. I would definitely recommend biking Bogotá and look forward to renting again the next time we visit!

Definitely I enjoyed renting a bike with them. They don´t have a store open to the public, but you can call them first and ckeck if they have bikes available or you can book one in advance through their website. The team guy show me in a city map no rush different places and sightseings. Bikes, helmet and lock provided were fine. Reliable people if it's your first time in town!!

Great experience!! I wanted to rent a bike for Bogota's Sunday La Ciclovía and Diego got me hooked up immediately! It's such a beautiful city to bike around and explore, and Diego gave me guidance on scenic routes for the day (all of which had food and juice vendors along the way). The bike was also brand new which I've never experienced with a bike rental. I was out and about for 5 hours and it was a perfect sunny day to explore the city. 100% recommend Biking Bogota (and la ciclovía!!).

Great bike rental right near the Ciclovía. The bikes were well maintained. They gave us a map and recommended a couple of different routes for us. For an urban cruiser I paid $35,000 for 4 hours which is much cheaper than other locations.

Close to the airport and perfect for long layovers during ciclovia days! Paola was great and very responsive. It's located in an apartment building without a storefront sign; just go in and ask at the front desk for Biking Bogotá. Bikes aren't fancy but the price and service are great!

Great place to visit on a lazy day at San Francisco / La Vega. Beautiful nature, quiet and friendly helpful staff.
Witnessed the release of a sloth in the reservation after being rescued somewhere in the colder areas of La Vega.
Three paths to walk, easy, but need to watch your step. It can be muddy and slippery.
Great place to spot birds, tortoises, butterflies, fireflies, and much more if patient and quiet enough.
Looked after contractors from the municipality, it looks tidy and well kept.
Please leave your dog at home to not scare away wildlife.

2 different options: 1- Drive from Bogotá(1hr and 20 min) Check out the lake and have lunch in La Vega.( Many more options than at the lake) 2- For enthusiast bikers and hikers, ride your bike from La Vega to the lake. (1.2 hour climb) then hike your way up to the peak of the mountain next to the lake (40 min climb).

It is a small park that can be visited between 2 to 4 hours. It has different tracks surrounding the lagoon. You can also do birdwatching around the lagoon an inside the forest. We saw cormorant playing on top of trunks inside the lagoon. Some other birds but as I am not an expert, no idea about their names. Bring some binoculars or a good camera to do some proper birdwatching. Even in a hot day the forest is fresh, also bring protection for the mosquitos. They like fresh city blood a lot. Also good to dress in colors similar to the forest to get closer to the birds. They sing all they long.

Chicaque Natural Park is an ideal destination located near Bogota for nature lovers. It boasts picturesque trails that are perfect for hiking and horseback riding. Visitors can also avail of lodging options as well as dine at the two restaurants available in the park. Chicaque Natural Park is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including sloths that can be spotted hanging from tree branches by lucky hikers. The entry fee to the park is $5, with free parking facilities provided.

Amazing place! Beautiful scenery with beautiful areas to hike too. Hiked around for 2 days and stayed a night in the hotel. The staff is absolutely amazing and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious. Definitely want to visit again.
Andy — Google review
Great place about an hour (from the chapinero area) to get to. (took nearly 2 hours to get back) We caught an uber, which was easy and fairly cheap to get there. Getting back was more difficult, we couldn't book an uber as we were staying overnight. We had tried to contact the national park as it says on their website that they can arrange collection and drop off. Nobody got back to us, so we arranged at the park, which was much more expensive, and complicated but we made it back to the city.
The park itself is beautiful, lovely paths. Definitely need supportive shoes, it's very wet, lots of slippery rocks. It obviously gets cloudy often so sometimes you don't get to see the views.
It's 3km downhill to el refugio which is the restaurant. It also sells snacks and drinks. Lunch and dinner are on at set times and have limited options for vegetarians. But there is something which is tasty so that's good :) It's also very reasonably priced, and you can buy beers and wine which is nice.
We really enjoyed the walks, and managed to do virtually all of them across one and a half days. Definitely recommend the cascada one, the longest walk but most beautiful. There's some nice little birds to see. Though I imagine people coming to bird watch would find it tricky as the trees are high and the birds are little! We saw more around el refugio.
The paths are really well marked, some other reviews had said how easy it would be to get lost. But I really don't see how that would happen!
So the park I would rate 4/5. There isn't a separate thing that I can write about the accommodation unfortunately. So I will write it here.
If you want to stay in the park, you can camp, there's cabanas, glamping and 1 tree house. We opted for a cabaña, which was rustic, but nice. Bathroom was clean, a fire was lit at night which was nice. But the bed, was the worst. It was so uncomfortable. The mattress needs changing. We had an awful night sleep. And the accommodation is £60 so it's not cheap.
We had dinner at the refugio, which as I mentioned is at set times. But i think we were the only people staying there. So when we arrived when dinner started nobody was there, no staff or anything. We just loitered round a bit and eventually some staff showed up. Same at breakfast, we arrived at 8 when its meant to start, someone was cooking but nobody came to us until 8.20 or so. Its not a complaint as such, it just felt a bit disorganised and we weren't really sure what to do with ourselves.
It would be good if they kept some games, so in the evening you could plays chess or something to entertain yourselves as there obviously isn't much to do once it gets dark.
If you're thinking about staying I would maybe opt to camp. I believe you can hire camping stuff from the refugio :)

Beautiful park with challenging routes (wear hiking shoes!). You can sleep in the park on a campsite or at El Refugio, just whatsapp them for prices and booking. Be prepared for a lot of mosquitos and cold nights. There is wifi at El Refugio. You can pay both the entrance and food/lodging with a card (master/viss).

It's just a dreamy amazing place to visit, lots of space, you can go glamping, camping or stay in a cabin, there are two beautiful restaurants where they serve incredibly delicious breakfast and other goodies. wonderful wonderful guides great, places to walk. It can be cold and become a little foggier times but remember that this is a very big space to walk so you will actually go through different climate changes and if you're lucky you might see some beautiful animals along the way.
beware beware⚠️⚠️ You should try to wear the right shoes because Since the weather there it's a bit humid and the roads are made out of old stones placed there by there are by ancient eldersThese roads might be slipperyAnd you can hurt yourself if you do not have the proper equipment, Also don't forget to carry enough water andAnd remember not to pollute the place since there are lots of animals that live in this beautiful habitat.

Enjoyed Chicaque Cloud Forest Hike!
Our trip was organized by Andes Ecotours. Our guide picked us up at the hotel and took us to the park. Our guide Hector was very knowledgable and let us enjoy the park in peace.
The trails were beautiful, steep, slippery and challenging. We had a snack of arepas and hot tea with milk at the Refugio. We needed that for the uphill hike back to the start. It is definitely an accomplishment the hike back.
The hike is recommended for hikers in good shape with no health issues. It is not a walk in the park but well worth it! In total we hiked 8.5km taking several trails including El Pico.

Visited today with my partner, and we were accompanied by Camilo from Beyond Colombia. Camilo was absolutely fantastic. Despite the language barrier, he shared his work in the cloud forest, taught us about the plants and animals, helped us practice our Spanish, and he even carried our bag when we got tired.
There is a restaurant at the bottom of the trail where you can sit, enjoy the view and eat some good food. We are in very good shape, but the low oxygen level made it hard to hike so we took many breaks. Overall, the views throughout the trails and of the mountain made this worth seeing and climbing.
I would recommend this to anyone wanting a break from the busy city of Bogotá. If you can, contact Beyond Colombia and ask for Camilo to get a deeper immersion of the area.

Only for experienced hikers, trekkers and campers. We nearly died trying to go down the slippy wet stone trails as others tumbled too. We got about 1/3 way down and went back as our knees gave out so that we could hardly stand let alone side step on the rocks. We went back on a vehicle trail with many rest stops fortunately before it rained.
The staff at Arboloco lodge/Cafe were great on finding out we had to give up not making it to the lower main restaurant where our ticket package fresh made lunch was waiting had the three lunches brought up on the shuttle. They were delicious and nutritious and filling not just because of the two pitchers of great Sangria which led to a great nap waiting for our taxi back to Bogota.
Well laid out park and campers picking up firewood said they were enjoying themselves. Clearly the "Forest in the clouds" as foggy when we came. Just be in shape and prepared beautiful tropical setting minus bugs. We may come again more prepared. We walk 3-5 km every day but it was not enough.

Absolutely stunning. Not swamped by tourists, especially if you have your own vehicle. There's a good paved road to the main gate, except for the last 5km which can be driven slowly in most any car. Tours are available from Manizales or twice a day from the gate. You can also drive past the gate with your own car on the dirt road. No motorcycles allowed past the gate because of previous louts going off road and causing damage.
If you decide to go around towards Murillo make sure you have a very high clearance vehicle or dual sport motorcycle. That route is definitely not for the average "tourist".

The Nevado del Ruiz also known as La Mesa de Herveo (English: Mesa of Herveo, the name of the nearby town) is a volcano located on the border of the departments of Caldas and Tolima in Colombia, about 129 kilometers (80 mi) west of the capital city Bogotá. It is a stratovolcano composed of many layers of lava alternating with hardened volcanic ash and other pyroclastic rocks. Volcanic activity at Nevado del Ruiz began about two million years ago, since the Early Pleistocene or Late Pliocene, with three major eruptive periods. It is a must go if visiting Manizales. The snowy mountain pick isn't accesible right now as it has been shutdown by the Colombian government since 2011 due to volcanic activity. However the surrounding moors and their unique environment worth your time

One of my best and hardest experiences , summiting The ice cap of Santa Isabel. The view is incredible you can see the Nevado del Ruiz and Nevado del Tolima. The Journey is fascinating, the landscapes are breathless, not an easy summit but archivd thanks to the 2022 Santa Isabel expedition by Mochileando Parce.

On the route you can see a lot of paramo and super paramo landscapes, volcanic rock lagoons, frailejones and many mountains belonging to the Andes mountain range.

I recommend it. I went with my family and we paid $200,000 each, it is worth paying, it is mandatory to go with a guide.

Though the forest itself was breathtaking, my half-day birding with a guide was underwhelming. At reservation the staff didn't tell me that the last 3km to the entrance is a dirt road, nor the starting point of the birding is another 1hr walk uphill from the entrance, so if you're coming by taxi like me, you might end up missing 2hrs best for birds. The guide was very knowledgeable but uses playback heavily and some birds are fed and tame which I felt unpleasant

Place is great to get in touch with nature. There is a Juan Valdez and an open space to sit in and enjoy the view while sipping on a good coffee. I would recommend the guided tour walk. It takes you all over the park while the guides explain the type of plants/trees they have. You will eventually be taken to the top so you can witness a gran variety of birds in their natural habitat, definitely beautiful and it makes the two hours well worth it! Bring good shoes and comfortable clothing as it may be cold at times.

Very nice and big parc. With all parcs like this its almost impossible to keep clean and tidy and the same goes for this parc. The cable car wasn't working when we weten here. On the upside, the parc is beautifull. Loads of plants, trees, hummingbirds, butterflies and orchids. Very nice staff who know what they are talking about during the two hour tour for a low price (€5). Great Valdez coffeeshop!

Beautiful place. Unless you are only visiting the Juan Valdez, it is required to pay for a guided tour. I went with a group of 3 and we enjoyed ourselves. We had a great guide (Mauricio) and we learned about the local plants/animals of Manizales, bonsai trees, butterflies and hummingbirds.

Bring your rain gear just in case.

Nice place to spend a couple of hours. The most remarkable attractive was the hummingbird station, the butterfly's and bonsai's parts were nice too, and the guide did a nice job explaining everything with detail. I didn't like that the orchid exhibition and the cable transport were not available, for respect to tourists they should inform of this in their website, because the entrance fee makes sense if all services were available.
