Mostly restored paintings that have suffered damage over time but the charm and authenticity of St Aloysius Chapel are still very well maintained.

Stunning paintings by Italian prodigy artist Antonio Moscheni! The sheer scale and finesse of the Canvas & Fresco paintings amidst the grand interiors of the chapel are a sight to behold. Though almost 150 years old, these paintings look like they're all newly made - so well preserved! I really consider myself fortunate to have been able to witness this man-made marvel.

St Aloysius Chapel situated in the heart of Mangaluru city on the Lighthouse Hill.
The Chapel built in 1885 by Rev Father Joseph Willy, is a replica of world renowned Sistine Chapel at Rome. The main part of this chapel is a large hall, which is called the nave. On either side of the nave are the two aisles. The raised platform is called sanctuary. Touching the wall of the sanctuary is the main alter.
These paintings were painted in 1899 by Antonio Moscheni, an Italian Jesuit when he visited Mangalore on a mission in 1878.

A good temple with a lot of idols of Hindu goddesses. You can find a calm and peaceful environment inside the temple premises. The idols are like a typical South Indian architect which is too good to say the least. I went here alone and spent some 30 mins inside the temple observing people, meditating and having a personal moment. A good place to visit with your family and kids.

In Tulunadu, in the 10th century, Kundavarma, the most famous king of Alupa dynasty was ruling. Mangalore was the capital of his kingdom. At that time, there came two sages named Machhendranatha and Gorakanatha from Nepal. They reached Mangalapura, crossing the river Nethravathi. The place were they crossed the river came to be known as ‘Gorakdandu’. They chose a place near the bank of Nethravathi which was once the centre of activities of sage Kapila. He had his hermitage there and it was a great centre of education.’
Hearing about the arrival of the two saints the king came to meet them. Introducing himself as the king of Tulunadu he paid them his respects and offered all help and patronage. Pleased with the humility and virtues of the king they brought to his knowledge that his kingdom was a holy place and it was sanctified by the activities of holy saints and sages in the past. They requested him to grant them land so that they could build their hermitage and make it a centre of their religious activities under his protection and patronage.

Kadri Shree Manjunatha Temple is a Hindu temple established in the 10th or 11th century, featuring bronze statues and hosting annual festivities. The temple resembles North Indian structures upon entry, with a central Shiva idol likeness. Additionally, the temple boasts a natural water source from Kashi that provides cold, clean water with a sweet taste. Visitors can climb higher into the mountains to find small caves previously used as an escape route by Pandas during Mahabharata times.
One of the oldest temple. Situated in Mangalore city this temple is popular among tourists. This temple was built in the 10th or 11th century.
Main god worshipper here is lord Manjunatha. There is a natural spring at the temple premises and the water flow is constant throughout the year. It is called a Gomukha thirtha. Water is so pure that people even carry it for drinking purpose
There are 9 ponds/ lakes also near to the gomukha theertha.
I would recommend people visiting Mangalore to visit this temple and seek the blessing of Lord Manjunatha

Don't forget to visit the Hanuman statue after climbing the steps

Wonderful and very well built temple in a vast area. Situated in the midst of Mangalore. There are many temples in this campus along with the 7 ponds where people do come for Kalash snana and it's indeed a transcendental experience of my life getting a Kalash snana for myself. There's a Ganapati temple besides the 7 ponds where there's an origin of Tirtha dhara from Gomukha, taking it on my head after the snana was one of the best spiritual experiences of my life. Furthermore there's a Mahadeva temple, right above it and on the way to the top you'll reach up to Hanuman temple. There's a newly built Yogeshwar mutt on the top of the hill and beautifully built temples and well maintained infrastructure to reach there too. A must visit temple for a Hindu believer.😇❤️

When you enter the temple it feels like you are in northern part of India. Temple structure is somewhat similar to north Indian temples. Inside the main temple there is Manjunatha(Shiva) idol like structure. Upside of the temple there is a water source (as per the history goes, people say the source of water is directly from Kashi) The water is cold, clean and has a sweet taste. Also, there is a path way which goes little higher in the mountains above there you will find small caves. A 9th-century beatiful temple of Sri Ananthapadmanabha Swamy (Bhagwan Mahavishnu) is located in Kumbla Kasaragod District, Kerala.
The temple is known as the moolasthanam, the original source of the Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple of Thiruvananthapuram.
The temple is believed to have been established by Divakaras, who are known for their dedication to worshipping Bhagwan Vishnu.
The temple also has yet another interesting tale to tell—the story of the guardian crocodile. Since very ancient times, one crocodile has been seen there. After the worship, the feed offered by devotees is given to Babia at noon. Temple authorities claim that Babia is a vegetarian and has never harmed anyone, including the fish in the pond

Shree Ananthapadmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his form of Anantha Padmanabha, the one who reclines on the serpent Ananta. The temple is located inside the East Fort in the heart of the city.
The temple is considered to be one of the 108 holy temples of Lord Vishnu, and one of the world's richest temples. The name of the city of 'Thiruvananthapuram' in Malayalam and Tamil translates to "The City of Ananta". The temple is built in an intricate fusion of the Kerala style and the Dravidian style of architecture, featuring high walls, and a 16th-century gopura (ornate entrance gate).
The temple has a long history, and its hidden treasure has piqued people from time to time. As per popular beliefs, it was established about 5000 years ago by sage Divakara Muni Vilwamangalam, who found Lord Vishnu in a cave near a mahua tree. The main sanctum has an idol of Lord Anantha Padmanabha made of 12,000 saligramams (sacred stones) from Nepal, covered with gold and precious stones. A peaceful, serene and well kept temple. It's situated in a lake which really adds to it's beauty. The presiding deity is Shri Vishnu flanked by Shreedevi and Bhoodevi. You can see these three idols. This is supposed to be the moolsthana (starting place) of the Shri Anatha Padmanabha Swami temple in Trivandrum.
Anna daanam is at noon.

The Ananthapura Temple in Kasargod stands as a serene and stunning edifice amidst a lake enveloped by lush greenery. Renowned for its rich history linked to the revered deity Pathmanabha Swamy of Trivandrum, the temple exudes a sense of profound spirituality.
One of its unique features was the presence of a crocodile within the temple's lake, which peacefully coexisted with devotees. Though it passed away last year, a new generation, a baby crocodile, now guards this sacred site. This intriguing aspect adds to the temple's mystique and legacy, offering visitors a truly unique and memorable experience within its tranquil and spiritually resonant ambiance.

The temple is about 6 km from Kumbala Junction in National highway 66 in Kasaragod district. The temple is built in a pond, there lived a vegetarian crocodile named Babia, which died in 2022. there is also a cave in the water which is said to be leading towards Sree padmanabha temple Trivandrum, also this temple is the Moola sthana of Sri Padmanabha Temple. the temple is very beautiful, located in a calm and less busy area, surrounded by small water bodies and trees. Temple architecture in which temple is built in a pond is the major attraction here. there is enough parking space available, busses are also available directly to the temple from Kumbala.

It was a great beach with amazing views. The sand sloped pretty steeply and the ocean had harsh currents so it is probably unsuitable for kids to play in. It was a fairly well-kept beach and I liked the time I spent there.

Bekal Fort is an impressive and expansive stronghold that offers picturesque views of the sea. The fort boasts well-preserved walls, gates, and tunnels, making it a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts. Efforts have been made to maintain the property in good condition. It is recommended to visit early during summer to avoid sun exposure and allocate at least 2-3 hours to explore the entire complex.
The fort is well maintained looking over the Arabian sea. There is a well maintained garden in the fort area. You can walk from one end to other of the fort, look over the sea and enjoy the beach view and cool breeze through the sea. Great historic monument situated in a very strategic location. Best time to visit is earlier in the day or late in the evening since the place is open and not much of a shade except few trees around. If you're visiting during other times of the day it's advisable to carry an umbrella to protect you from the tropical heat.
It's a huge estate and a nice long walk around the periphery is a must-do apart from walking up the rampart. Southward view is towards the beautiful beach and the westward one/gate is great for viewing amazing sunsets.

Well, I'm not sure what I have to say, but it's ok to visit one-time here. It's just a big fort beside the ocean. It doesn't have much greenery like it used to have a few years ago, especially during this season (check picture for reference). Bit crowded in certain places, and you will be able to see people not following basic rules for example, it might be written, don't cross the fences or sit on top of the wall as such, but you will anyway end up seeing people trespassing those and sitting on top of walls and such. It's such a huge fort that it would take almost an hour or more to cover the entire fort. No food or drinks are available inside th fort, so you will have to buy it from outside before entering. All you can do here is just walk walk walk, which is a good exercise and enjoy some views and relish the history. There are places to rest, but I would advise to take umbrellas if you are going during hot season. Don't exactly remember the entry fee, but it's somewhere between 40-60 if I am not wrong. Also, the best time to visit would be in the evenings. Please don't go in the afternoon and all, you'll would be dead...😂☀️🌞 oh just to add, they accept only cash, even though they have a QR code at the ticket counter that is for people who have booked online. Not sure what's the logic behind that, so better keep cash ready. No UPI payments accepted, at least when we went.

The Fort's practical design, with a zigzag entrance and well-preserved fortifications, reflects its historical importance. The exploration of massive walls, observation towers, and an underground tunnel gives a glimpse into Kerala's rich cultural and architectural heritage. Inside the fort, you'll find carefully preserved relics, including ancient cannons and secret tunnels. Tips:
- You can reach bekkal Fort by bus or train. Buses are available from Kasaragod bus stand. 'Bekal Fort 'railway station is available, But few trains have stop there.

Kurinjaala Betta, located in the Kudremukh Range, is a lush mountain covered in dense rainforest. The peak stands at 1160m and offers strenuous hiking trails for visitors. Bhagavati Nature Camp provides easy access to this peak, with a 7km trek to the summit that requires a guide as per forest department norms. However, leeches are abundant along the path due to the forest canopy and thick/moist foliage.
This is one of the peaks you get easy access to when staying at Bhagavati Nature Camp. It is an easy trek except for the leeches that are abundant along this path due to the forest canopy and thick/moist foliage. Walk of about 7km takes you to the summit but a guide is must as per the forest department norms (₹275 per head for forest fee and ₹1000 is the guide charge as of Apr'22).
Pro Tip: salt your socks and shoes, you'll have no leaches climbing you 😉

It's a easy trek. Good for beginners. Total 7+7 kms trek. Last stretch might be difficult for beginners since it involves hike on rocky hill.
Get the permission from forest department at the checkpost before entering. You won't get any streams here so carry enough water.
There are lots of leeches here, leech attack starts at the beginning of the trek only so take proper precautions.
I went in the month of June. Because of fog couldn't get good view at the viewpoint. It's good to visit during oct-dec if you want to enjoy good view. But mansoon treks have different experience, those clouds and rain.

Great place for a 1 day trek and it's very moderate for all types of people to enjoy. One drinking water point available while going and nothing after that. If we get a good weather it's a fantastic view from the top. The peak itself is very sharp and might look bit scary from distant, but not a big problem to reach there.

Nice trekking experience in Kudremukh national park, It starts from the Road point near bhagavathi Nature camp and walk to 5km in thick evergreen forest. It comprises both Evergreen, Grassland vegetation and monodominant trees. Initially for 1 km normal walking road then 2km evergreen patch you can catch with Fogg conditions sometime after that you can see the open canopy and grassland vegetation. Snake like roads are there to reach peak otherwise some shortcuts are there and in between Rocky view point is there. Finally you can enjoy the view point at the top.

Guide and permission is mandatory.
Permission fee cost INR of 475 as of now and guide fee 1000 for 8- 10 members and also parking fee should be paid.
Trek distance is approximately 15 km in total, also Monsoon there will be a large number of leeches so pls accordingly and in post moonsoon and summer there won't be water source in trail so plan accordingly only at the base water steam is there and also there is no network in this locality.

Kurinjal peak is one of the lesser-known peaks in the western ghats. It is hidden deep in the Kudremukh National Park.
One of the second best trek experience after Kudremukh in Kurinjaala Betta about 7+7 = 14 Km Trek.
Evergreen deep forest route, grasslands, breathtaking surroundings and enchanting environment, many small streams and lush green meadows and the steep climb to reach the peak will be the best experience. The final stretch of the trek is very steep. You have to climb a huge rock, which has 80 degrees of inclination.
We will get Bhadra River Bridge, the initial trail from this bridge is a completely muddy trail. During the monsoon season, it can be very slippery and Full of Monsters 😁 ( The Great Leeches ).
There is large amount of leeches in this trek compared to Kudremukha.
After completing Muddy Trails and Roads and when we are exiting from the forest section, we will see beautiful valleys and Hills. Then we have to conquer Steep Path and the great Views from Kurinjaal Peak.
We visited during Monsoon Season, One of the best experience but you have to take care of those leeches.
Apply Dettol, Salts etc etc etc... Trekking in this section is challenging as you encounter leeches at every each steps.

Things to do around Bekal and the first thing on mind - houseboat. Booked a car from the hotel and headed straight to our destination. You can book a cruise online or the hotel you staying.
We booked an evening cruise 🛳 but to our bad luck the rain 🌧 took away most of the enjoyment.
A warm welcome by our host and aye aye captain with a glass of refreshing drink and off we go.
Thesajwani river is huge, beautiful, clean and breathtaking.
Our captain and host were just amazing and kept us entertained with history of the place.
The houseboat was clean with a bedroom and washroom attached, a dinning table for 4.
Off we sailed passing by small island with familes living on it, fishermen in small boats.
Refreshments on board could be changed to kerela banana chips, Ada pradhaman, Achappam, halwa etc with tea/coffee rather than potato and onion pokoda.
Plz don't entertain loud music on the cruise or it will lose its charm like the goa cruise just noise no fun.
Overall it was a mesmerizing and memorable experience.

We (6 adults, 2 children) booked a lunch cruise through our hotel for one of our days in a 4 day trip to Bekal. The cruise was perfectly done and we had a peaceful afternoon in a houseboat on the river.
The Food: The food selection was a local cuisine with fried fish, chicken with gravy, a beans curry and local rice. The food was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. For desert a Payasam with seviyan and sabudama was served and it was exquist. We all loved the food and still long for more.
The Staff: The captain was super kind and kept the ship steady, he also let us steer the ship at the beginning. The rest of the staff were extremely kind and helpful and offered us more food when we needed it. They did everything we asked. We are very happy with the service.
The experience: The captain gave us information about the islands around us . The cruise was very comfortable and very relaxing, which was needed for the majority of us.

The backwater was clean and the scenery around was refreshing with lots of coconut trees and other variants around. A lot of bird species rejuvenated the place.
There is a bedroom with an attached bathroom. The place was pretty clean and well maintained. Try this experience when you visit Bekal as its almost a 40 minute drive from Bekal.
Overall it was a wonderful experience.

Such an awesome , ancient temple to Sri Subramanya . The architectural speciality is its Gajaprishtakara vimana ( shaped like elephant back) and the very lovely wooden bracket sculptures . In the evening , when they light the oil lamps , it is a truly divine atmosphere . The temple pond is a picturesque place , with a very ancient tree nearby . Devotees can feed puffed rice to the fish in the pond .

Payyannur Subramanya temple is dedicated to Subramanya also called as Payyannur Perumal.
The two storeyed sanctum is in the shape of Gajaprishtam [back of an elephant].
This temple has a 6-ft tall idol of Subramanya with a Vel.
Other idols found here are Parashurama, Ganapathy, Sastha, Bhoothathan & Kanya Bhagavathy.
Hundreds of brass lamps are hung around the main temple,
Another interesting feature is its 12 ft tall compound wall constructed in a unique style.
The temple is famous for its pavitra mothiram, a uniquely crafted ring.
Made with gold & holy darbha grass, it is worn after being sanctified at the temple.
Payannur got its name from this famous temple, where Payyan is another name of Subramanya.
It is believed to be constructed by Vishvakarma as per the directions of Parashurama.
This temple, destroyed in the 1700s by Tipu Sultan of Mysore was rebuilt in 1792.
There is a huge step well filled with many fishes. Feeding the fish is considered auspicious.
Aradhana Mahotsavam is a 14 day festival in which the idol is carried by the priest instead of using elephants, accompanied by the traditional musical instruments.

A must visit temple of subramanya. Well maintained. A best example of gajaprshta type of construction in temples. The dwindled populace of Brahmin community is indeed a point to ponder. New Constructions inside and outside the temple should be discouraged.
Religious pilgrims travel to this serene, 800-year-old temple honoring several Hindu deities.
My first time experience was overwhelming. Well organised and maintained. Special care was given to disabled senior citizens which is rare to observe in rest of the temples in India. Also enjoyed the the car museum nearby which was really a great collections and feast to car lovers.

Nice temple. When visited there was too much crowd. Temple is maintained nicely. Free food is provided here starting 11:00 a.m. Big car parking is available just opposite to the temple. Lord manjunatha (Shiva) is the main god here. There is a river near by where people are allowed to take bath.

One of the oldest and renowned temples in Karnataka. No nearby restaurants and you have to rely on stalls on the road while traveling towards temple. Usually the temple is crowded, however special Darshan is available at a cost. Generally people come and stay in nearby places located at walkable distance from the temple.

One of the best and cleanest temple in Karnataka.
You can get hotels in the price of ₹20-₹50 per day including attach washrooms.
The best time to visit the temple to avoid rush is weekdays.

We have to wait for too long in queue if there is rush , but totally worthy , need to remove shirt and banian before entering into the main temple, the way temple constructed is simply superb , there will be 2 ways one will be free dharshan and another will be 200rs ticket dharshan , I will suggest you to go in a free dharshan because 20mins= 200rs , if you have time wait for line in 20 to 30mins so that at a point 2 lines will be merged.

It was my first time visit to this temple and possibly the biggest temple I have seen so far. It's a well managed and organized temple for people to come and see the deity and have food free of cost. This temple has the biggest kitchen when it comes to preparing the food for Bhaktas. This temple is known to have a very rich culture and history that dates back to 800 years

We arrived after dark on a mid December day and the temple grounds was buzzing with activity and energy. This temple draws pilgrims and travelers from all over, especially the south. It is well organized and you can buy from a range of seva tickets or simply take it all in your own way. It has a hill station feel and a temple town vibe. Read about Dharmasthala before you visit - it has an interesting history of origin and administration. The abode of spirituality and charity, it lives its mission through many charitable activities

This is a lord shiva temple surrounded by a ghat roads and beautiful nature and hills. Its a powerful temple where everyone including me believe whatever wishes we pray comes true here…
There is no entry tickets for dharshanam and it’s free with little wait time in queue in week days and in week ends it’s takes up to 30mins of wait time…and if you wish for special dharshanam you can buy tickets.
Before dharshanam in temple we have to go to NETRAVATHI RIVER and dip there after that only we have to enter the temple.
Male (boys) should remove their shirt during dharshanam and after dharshanam you will be provided annadanam (prasadam) to eat which is awesome. They provide food for thousands and lakes of people everyday for free.
We also can stay in free rooms provided by the temple where we have to provide our aadhar cards to them and pay 30/- rupees for one room (there is no charging slots in rooms and toilets) but in front of the rooms only free toilets are provided).
Roads are good to travel. Travelling in ghat roads gives us never ending memories and joy with beautiful scenery and hills with 360• covered by greenery but a little danger too to travel . And other road has no ghat sections but only with greenery nature and beautiful views.

The Dharmasthala temple dates back 800 years
It's a holy place of Manjunatheshwara (aka Dharmasthala manjunatha) temple environment is nice along with best temperature, if you are visiting pls plan in weekdays to avoid much of crowd or rush and if ur visiting in weekends or public Holiday's pls plan accordingly as there will too much of unavoidable que and which will consume hours of time for final darshana (vision) ending up lot of day time wastage, there was decently moderate que when we visited (29/12/2023) and took nearly 3hrs.
Negative -1 ⭐ is because the annadanam pls where they just throw the items and go just to do the job, which makes the places dirty and sticky to feet while walking on bare foot 👣, instead waiting for second and serving would avoid lot of food wastage on spillage on ground (no complaints on taste or quality of food).
Prashanth P — Google review
The temple has a very extensive queue system, which is efficiently managed by the temple authorities. We waited for nearly an hour and a half in line, but the darshan of Mahadev was truly serene. The annadhana at 1.00pm was a delightful experience. The dining hall was impeccably constructed and maintained, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere of the temple.

One of the famous temples in Karnataka. You must visit this place with friends and family and also visit a vintage car museum. Anna Prasada is also provided to devotees twice daily, in the afternoon and at night. Here, lots of guest houses are available. Nearby Ayodhya Atithya Veg restaurant is there from temple to restaurant, approximately 1 km. One of the best restaurants. Nearby Subramanya Road railway station is around 40–45 km from Dharmasthala temple.

The temple administration is the best in this country as per my thinking.
Also had temple call Annappa swamy bhetta which will be open for around two months is what I came to know, Annappa is also one of the very power full god in this place.
There are places like museum of ancient materials, museum of cars, aquarium, bahubali statue in the bahubali hills,
The temple also provides free rooms.
There is a dining hall called Anna purna
We get Prasad of Sri Manjunatha everyday from morning around 11am.

Parassinikkadavu Snake Park is a small-scale zoo where both venomous and non-venomous snakes coexist with various birds and mammals. The facility has undergone recent improvements, including the addition of a walking path and a dock for pleasure boats. The overall atmosphere of the temple is serene, with clean premises that create a devotional ambiance. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views of the temple from the walkway while also exploring numerous stalls catering to families with children.
Really Really Worthy!!!
Kids and family can enjoy it a lot!
And they have a 12D theater which costs 100 rupees per person which is also good!
Everyone can spend some quality time with family and friends.

There is still a lot to improve. The premises are not very clean.
Rest stations should be added. Daily maintenance seemed to be lacking.

Limited attractions. The glass cabinets are kept dark thus viewing snakes are a task. Apart from snakes they have other animals and bird varieties. Owls, kites, stork, monitor lizard, tortoises and peacocks are to name few. Entry fee for adult ₹50 and for children ₹30
Summer time is not idle to visit as it’s way too hot. Keep required water bottles as they have limited shops with local brand drinks.

You can experience different species of snakes. There is a wide range of snake species, and some other animals are also there. It's a wonderful place for kids. They can experience a lot. And watch animals so closely. But one thing I noticed, especially in noon times, there is a glare on every glass. It will blur your vision in the snake area.. And there is a 12D cinema theater we cN experience a little bit of 12D. It was fun.

Snake Park is definitely trying to improve their setup or park, still a lot of improvements are needed to taken care of. There wasn't any water in the crocodile cage, and similarly a lot of changes can be made inorder to make the place much better. The workers should try cleaning the place before visitors are allowed as it feels really disrespectful to sweep while we are taking a walk or tour. Apart from that, definitely it's a place to visit once or twice.

The Parassinikkadavu Snake Park, located in Kannur District, Kerala, India, was established in 1982 with the aim of conserving reptiles, especially snakes, and raising awareness about wildlife and the environment. Originally part of the Pappinisseri Snake Bite Treatment Centre, the park now serves as an educational center for students and the public.
The park features a modest collection of snakes, along with other animals like tortoises and alligators. It also houses an aquarium showcasing unique fish species. Entry tickets are affordable, ranging from Rs. 30 to Rs. 50, with free admission for children under 5 and adults over 80.
While the park lacks extensive amenities like a dedicated parking area and robust children's play facilities, it provides a serene environment for a relaxed hour-long visit. Snacks and beverages are available for purchase inside. Overall, it's a decent place to spend some time, especially for families with young children who are sure to enjoy the experience.Inspired by renowned conservationist Romulus Whitaker, the park offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the ecological importance of snakes. With over 50 lakhs visitors in the last decade, it has become a popular destination.

I visited the snake park in Kerala last week and I had a blast. The park is well-maintained and has a variety of snakes from different regions. I learned a lot about their habitats, diets, and behaviors from the informative guides. The highlight of the visit was the snake show, where the handlers demonstrated how to handle venomous snakes safely and humanely. They also explained the importance of snake conservation and how to avoid snake bites. I was impressed by their skills and courage. Make sure you call to temple prior your visit and know the Vellatt, Thiruvappana timings earlier. Saturdays would be ideal to see both Muthappan and Thiruvappan.

Nearest bus station in just 10 mins walking distance from Temple from which you can get bus to both Dharmashala and Kannur(where the nearest Railway station present). There’s a facility for boating in Valapattanam river by government of Kerala tourism department which can also be tried if you have ample time during the visit. Muthappan temple is an unusual temple in many ways. Irrespective of our caste, religion and country anyone can visit this temple. good vibe you get from the temple you feel like you have gone to your close relative house. Because the prasadam we got is tea, boiled chickpeas.
Couldn't experience the vellattam and thiruvappana which is early in the morning from 5.30 am to 8.30 am. During the theyyam performance in madapura in the temple the performer will go to trance and godly powers are within him. at that time devotees share their greviences, worries and the happiness and get a solution for the same. You can get blessings from the muthappan at that time. For that we can stay in the rooms nearby the temple or hotels and reach early.
The offering to muthapan god is toddy, dry fish and meat as he is a hunter god.
We had lunch from there. It seems that the nearby parassinikadavu LP and UP students have their lunch from there.
After praying in the temple you can enjoy a roundabout boat journey or either to matool or valapatanam.
The parassinikadavu muthappan temple visit was a bliss.

Temple is located in picturesque surroundings on the banks of Valapattinam river. The climb-down from the bus-stand amidst greenery through steps (about 100) or a winding road (using bikes/ Autorickshaw/car) is a memorable experience. The only temple in Kerala that receives devotees with Tea and traditional snacks. The belief is that Sree Muthappan disapproves devotees coming to worship Him with starving stomachs. Great indeed. Free lunch is available at the temple complex after 12.30 PM. Boat ride across the river is an enchanting option. Vellattam (an ancient ritualistic form of worship in which the priest in an elaborate traditional attire (as in Theyyam) goes into trance and acts like an oracle listening to the grievances of devotees and suggesting remedial measures) takes place in the morning and evening. Overall, an unforgettable spiritual experience. Those who visit once are certain to come again and again.

Parassini Muthappan is so much connected to the culture, love and bond of people in Malabar. Incredible stories from Pradepeattan who performs Vellat made us more connected to this place. We visited during the holiday season and there was a rush due to this. Other than that it was and it is always an incredible experience. Now people can enjoy boating as well. There is food at the temple and mostly lunch will be available for the visitors.
Talakaveri Temple, located on the Bhramagiri hills, is renowned for its connection to the holy river Kaveri. Visitors are permitted to bathe in the spring waters of this sacred river. The temple features separate idols for Lord Shiva and Ganesha and emphasizes worship of the Kaveri river. It is recommended that visitors dress formally when entering the temple, with a separate shoe stand available at the entrance.
Spread across a vast area high up on the hills. The location itself makes the place worth visiting.
Beautiful temple area inside. One side looks down on the hills and offers great views.

The temple is located on a hill top. Hence, it was quite chilly out there. The temple is quite small. The view from the temple is quite scenic.
There is a dress code to follow at the temple. Shorts and short skirts are not allowed inside the temple premises. Devotees can wear traditional/ethnic clothes or a pair of shirt/t-shirt and full trousers.
It was a good experience overall.

This is a beautiful temple and has a great view. Definitely recommend to visit it. Shorts not allowed, so please ensure to dress appropriately. The temple is 45 km from the city and it takes more than 1 hour to drive up to the temple. So consider that. Also the roads are curvy, so people with motion sickness can have some difficulty.

You need to park your vehicle before climbing the short inclination. There are steps and needs a 10 min walk cum climb to the temple. We had a chance to touch and feel the source of Kaveri! A place with scenic beauty.

1. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE COMING JUST TO VISIT OR TO SEE THE HILL VIEW POINT AS IT IS CLOSED.
2. It takes around 2hr+ to reach here on the way to coorg. The road is very narrow and uphill. Also it's very bad.
3. They charge 20/- as forest permits, 40/- as panchayat charges. Parking is free however, however if its crowded you wont get parking and have to walk very long.
4. There is a chappal stand 3/- per chappal and toilet @5/-. Prasad is there @20/-.
5. Photography is prohibited from the temple. However you can click pictures chupke chupke.
There is nothing great to see here, as we are from Goa It's common for us goans. The route which leads here is very long and boring. That's the only reason.

Located about 45 kms from Kodagu, Talakaveri is considered the source of river Kaveri.
It si believed that the Kodavas erected a tank next to the temple and that the river originates as a spring feeding a tank or a Kundike and then flows underground to re-emerge as Kaveri some distance away.
The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Kaveriamma next to the tank and bathing in it on special occasions is considered holy. Its a great place to walk around,
Next to the temple there is a hill which can be climbed by taking about 400 steps. One can get scenic views of th forest around and the hills of Coorg. Even from the temple level, one can get a good views.
On a week end the place gets crowded. There is no entry fee and the place is open from 6.00 am to 8.30 pm. Parking is outside the complex on the road.

Heaven on earth.
STRICT Hindu temple only for pilgrimage & offering Puja & sacred Mantras. No picnic, no romance & not eating anything. Do not pollute & throw waste. This place came into being millions of years ago when the Earth was one land mass.
Muslims & Christians please don't go; you won't understand the value of such an important religious place of Hindus.
Humans consuming beef should avoid this place for sure.

It is believed that the river kaveri originates here. The way to this temple is a bit far from madikeri, so if you are planning to visit this place getting an auto sometimes might be hard, so one of the best way is to reach till bagmandala temple by auto and from there take a bus to here and while returning take a bus till here back. But if you are lucky, you can get an auto ride from madikeri like we did which is almost a 40-45 mins ride from madikeri. The view there is just so beautiful, could literally see the clouds moving around. This auspicious place is a must visit in coorg. Loved every bit of it. Located in Coorg, the Scotland of India, this is a beautiful temple that blends in with nature. Summers can be a bit hot, but a trip here during winters and rainy season will give you an unforgettable experience. The temple is the origin of Karnataka's holy river Kaveri. Starting from a spring in the temple pond, the river later splits into three, one of which flows west and merges with the Chandragiri river. Another is the Kabani river which flows eastwards to Wayanad. The third and most important river is the Kaveri River. Kaveri is known as the mother of Kodakin. This is the Triveni Sangam in South India. It is known as a tourist center but being a holy or a sacred place, it is better to be careful about dress code etc. Wearing low cut frocks, shorts etc. cannot enter the temple premises. There is plenty of space to park vehicles. It is best to be careful not to take pictures from places where photography is prohibited.

Talakaveri is said to be the source of River Cauvery. Although the source that is the flow of water is not always visible. During rainy season, one can get a glimpse of the same. River Cauvery is one of the seven sacred rivers of Sapta Sindhus belonging to the Hindu scriptures.

The origin of Kaveri river....nice temple and you will hill view ...
Talakaveri, also known as Talacauvery, is a sacred site for Hindu devotees and believed to be the origin of river Kaveri. Situated on Brahmagiri hills near Bhagamandala in Karnataka State's Coorg district, it lies in close proximity to Kasaragod district's border. This location holds significant religious importance and attracts many visitors every year.
The Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site situated near the confluence of three rivers. The temple features multiple idols and showcases exquisite Kerala style architecture, attracting thousands of devotees every day. Traditional daily prayers are offered, followed by the distribution of Prasada as food to followers. The atmosphere is peaceful and well-maintained with remarkable wooden cuttings at the top of the temple structure.
Bhagamandala is 40 km from Madikeri (on the way to Talakaveri). It is known to have been built by the Chola kings in the 11th century. The architecture of many of the temples here is reminiscent of the temple style of Kerala. There are temples of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva or Bhagandeshwara (local famous name for Lord Shiva), Lord Subramanya and Lord Vishnu. What I like most about this temple complex is its cleanliness and very quiet environment.
We were not too crowded the day we went and we were able to pray quietly and hurriedly. Also you can get annaprasadam on afternoon.
The Triveni Sangam is also nearby, where you can bathe in the river and enjoy the natural beauty. In fact, it is the confluence of three rivers, the Kaveri, the Kannike and the Sujoti. This association is also known as the Triveni Association. After bathing at Triveni, one goes to Dakaveri, about 8 km from Bhagamandala.
Om Nama Shivaya.

The temple is famous and is visited by residents as well as tourists. Deities of Ishwara (Shiva), Ganapati, Subramanya and Mahavishnu are worshipped. It is crowded on weekends and holidays with long queues but is well organised. They serve simple but delicious veg meal during lunch time, which devotees relish. Shops nearby sell items produced in the area such as Coffee, Honey, gift items etc. A divine visit.

Bhagamandala in Madikeri is a beautiful place to visit. It's a small town in Karnataka, India, known for its religious significance and natural beauty.
The first thing you notice is the peaceful atmosphere. Surrounded by lush greenery and the calming sound of the river, it's a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The air is fresh and clean, making it a great escape from the city.
One of the main attractions is the Triveni Sangama, where three rivers come together. It's a sacred place for Hindus and a nice place to take a short boat ride to experience the confluence.
The temples in Bhagamandala are another highlight. The Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is architecturally fascinating. It's a place where you can experience spirituality and tranquility.
The local market offers a variety of souvenirs and local produce. Don't miss the chance to try the delicious local cuisine, especially the Coorgi dishes.
However, it's important to note that the town can get a bit crowded during peak tourist seasons. To fully enjoy the serenity, it's best to visit during the off-season.
Overall, Bhagamandala is a lovely place to visit for a peaceful retreat, a glimpse into spirituality, and a taste of local culture.

A beautiful hill in kannur. Well maintained neat and clean, special thanks to forest dept.
In order to reach the top you need to walk a fair amount of distance. Since I came there by bike after riding for more than 3hours, I was tired and needed to take plenty of breaks in between the trucking.
This place is situated at a dead end, so parking is not at all an issue. Less crowded when I visited ( it was a weekday ). A small entry fee is there, and they check the bag for any kind of plastic/ liquor etc and are strictly prohibited. You can bring plastic bottles and all but they will take the count and you need to produce it again while returning back.
The hill top view is good, but I think it will be great if you go there early morning. I visited on noon and the heat was unbearable. Overall I like the place.

The place is a real feast to anyones eyes. The Flora and fauna there will mesmerize your minds. If you're interested to have a walk into the woods and have some fresh air, this is a best place near Thalassery to go. We reached around noon. The initial walk is through the dense forest, so the thick canopy will protect you from harsh sun rays. This walk is around ~2km. Which is followed by a walk in the open scaling mountains and valleys, but the cool breeze will always push you to move forward along with the spectacular scenery. There is a view point where you can have a good view of the forest.

If you leave footwear outside temple. The staff will automatically take them and put in the stand.
Should not wear shirt.
Better to go with doti.

The best place which is surrounded by the thick forest. The rooms are available for the pilgrims who want to halt but they can be booked offline only, the rooms are provided for the family of Max 12-15 members. They provide free service of luggage storing while entering the temple and also separate areas are preserved for footwear too. It was a very neat area and as usual men pilgrims are required to remove the shirt & banian while taking the Swami darshan. The Prasad package will be given for the pilgrims who pay for it not for all. Even the anna Prasad is also provided for the Prasad recipients only. All types of sevas can be done by making online payment. You can reach out to this temple via train as well "Subrahmanya road (SBHR)" is the train stop which is just 20mins away from the temple. The trains are available for those who are coming from Bangalore, Mangalore etc.
Note: Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple.

A must visit place to see the lord Subrahmanya (Serpent God). Hindus temple located in Western Ghats of Karnataka, India..
It also has some interesting places nearby, I uploaded videos and images of those places...

An outstanding spiritual destination and one of Karnataka's must visit temple!
The temple carries lot of significance and most prominent for Sarpa dosha parikara pooja.
The temple is located amidst hills, beautiful ambience and well maintained premises offer good positive experience to the devotees. Evening Bandi pooja is also very special in the temple where the Urchavar is taken around the temple couple of times in a pallak.
Prasadam is available at a cost of Rs.100, which includes a small bottle of thertam water.
There are several lodges, hotels and restaurants around the temple premises.
Less than a Km walkable distance from main bus stand.
There was traditional folk based dance/drama song recital of Ramayanam when we had visited. It was a great visual experience.
Hot during Summers and crowded during holidays/weekends.
Balaji Kannan — Google review
It was very crowded as we had visited during govt holidays so it would be easy to have a prior booking of the rooms in Kukke subhramanya swamy temple of planning to visit on holidays and it is better to purchase tickets online for pujas as there was so huge line at the ticket counter early in the morning at 4am. The ticket counter opens exactly at 6am so people stand in line before the time. Some puja tickets are available online and for other pujas should purchase at the temple ticket counter.

The temple which is giving relief to so many people having dosha..ie making people to live peacefully The atmosphere is very good for people from city as well people from rural enjoy the simplicity.

A religious place to cleanse your soul & mind. Calm & quiet. The temple is always filled with devotes from all across the country. Surely people are always eager to get the darshan of the deity first so pushing around happens. The prasadam is simple yet nice & free for all.

Best temple to visit during all time. There's Kumaradhara River which is 2.3km away from the Subrahmanya swamy temple, a place where you can take bath and go to temple for dharshana. Temple is well maintained by the management but people should keep it clean as there're so many slippers scattered here and there, there's separate place allocated for slippers which is well maintained and free of cost.
Best place to visit with family and friends.

Positive Beliefs of this temple are strong. As I went on Sasti day, one can expect long queues and untidy places as Hindu pilgrims still don't bother for cleanliness. But when you enter the Abode you forget everything.

A popular hiking destination, this peak is the tallest within Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary.
One of the best and difficult treks in Karnataka.
Dont ever try to finish in a day , it's too difficult.
First day start the trek and stay in bhattara Mane , they will provide tents and food for some price. Next day early morning start your trek to final peak and start getting down. Lovely nature, enjoy that

Not so easy and not so difficult either, carry what is necessary while trek. You can find many view points on the way to the top. KP trek was one of the best experience I ever had.
Cheers to those who are planning to visit!

The first day of the trek is relatively easy, as you follow a well-defined trail through the forest. The second day of the trek is more challenging, as you climb steep slopes to reach the summit. The views from the summit are incredible, and you can see for miles in every direction.
The Kumara Parvatha trek is a great way to experience the beauty of the Western Ghats. It is also a challenging trek that will test your physical and mental fitness. If you are looking for a challenging but rewarding trek, I highly recommend the Kumara Parvatha trek.
Here are some tips for planning a Kumara Parvatha trek:
Start planning early, as permits are required.
Be sure to be in good physical condition.
Bring plenty of food and water.
Wear comfortable hiking boots.
Be prepared for the weather, which can change quickly.
Hire a guide if you are not experienced in trekking.
I hope this helps!

We have to experience the beauty of the Western ghats
And one of the hardest trek in south india. Carry minimum stuff in the backpack. carry minimum plastics and don't ruin the Western ghats.
Shivukumar patil — Google review
Embarking on a difficult trek is not for the faint of heart, but for those who seek an unparalleled adventure and a test of their physical and mental limits, it is an experience like no other. Recently, I had the privilege of undertaking one such trek that pushed me to my very limits and left an indelible mark on my soul.
The journey began amidst breathtaking landscapes, with towering peaks, dense forests, and cascading waterfalls serving as the backdrop. As we set foot on the treacherous trails, the enormity of the challenge became apparent. The path was unforgiving, marked by steep ascents, treacherous descents, and unpredictable weather conditions. Every step demanded unwavering determination and resilience.
The trek tested not only my physical endurance but also my mental fortitude. There were moments when fatigue threatened to overpower me, and doubts crept into my mind. Yet, the camaraderie among fellow trekkers and the encouragement of experienced guides kept the fire within me burning. The sheer joy of reaching each milestone, witnessing awe-inspiring vistas, and discovering hidden gems along the way made the hardships worthwhile.
The trek was not without its dangers. Crossing narrow ridges, navigating through icy glaciers, and enduring bone-chilling temperatures required utmost caution and skill. However, the adrenaline rush that accompanied conquering each obstacle was an experience unlike any other. It reminded me of the immense strength and resilience that lie dormant within us, waiting to be awakened.
Ultimately, standing at the summit, exhausted but euphoric, I was overwhelmed by a profound sense of accomplishment. The difficult trek had transformed me, both physically and emotionally, and left me with a newfound appreciation for the power of the human spirit.
In conclusion, undertaking a difficult trek is an arduous endeavor that demands unwavering dedication and perseverance. However, the rewards are immeasurable. The indescribable beauty of nature, the triumph over adversity, and the personal growth that comes from pushing oneself beyond limits make it an experience that will be cherished for a lifetime. If you are ready to challenge yourself and embrace the extraordinary, I wholeheartedly recommend embarking on a difficult trek that will leave you forever changed.

Very popular trekking destination in the area of Subhramanya. The trek is very tiring and make you exhausted (be physically fit enough to trek upto the top; most do give in midway though).
Trekking starts behind the famous Kukke Subhramanya (ಕುಕ್ಕೆ ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ)temple. It's a trail of approximately 13 kms. The first stage of the trekking in covered with woods and ends at Girigadde ( ಗಿರಿ ಗದ್ದೆ) or at the place of Forest Guard office. You can sleep over, take rest, spend time over observation platform nearby the guard office. There's a house of Brahmins where you can pre order food and also ask for accommodation ( all the facilities will be charged particularly and they need to be informed priorly).
The second stage of trek can be started only after registration at Forest Guard office (₹. 350 per head for localities and ₹.1000per head for foreigners). The second trek is quite challenging since it involves steepy trail, loose gravels (where you can easily slip over). So carry less baggage during second phase, you'll pass through Kallu Mantapa (ಕಲ್ಲು ಮಂಟಪ) and Shesha Parvatha (ಶೇಷ ಪರ್ವತ) on the way. In the final part, you'll also get a plain rock surface to climb on (take extra care during climbing).
The whole trek has not much of plateau region, it's more over like a vertical climb.
Carry all the necessary trekking gears along with you ( tents, ropes, torch, knife, water, packed food, fruits, power bank etc)
Mallalli Falls is a picturesque natural area that offers visitors the chance to witness multi-tiered waterfalls set amidst stunning lush scenery. While the falls are truly amazing, access to them requires descending over 700 steps, which can be a thrilling experience for some but may not be recommended for elderly individuals. Due to safety concerns and several fatalities in the past, the government has implemented strict restrictions around accessing and playing near the falls.
This is an amazing waterfalls. The journey to the falls will surely tire you, but it's definitely worth the visit. You will have to climb down around 800 steps to reach the falls. Sometimes the entry will be restricted during heavy water season. You can ask about it with shopkeepers at the parking area before you climb down. Best time to visit would be September to December.

The falls is one of the top falls in Karnataka. Must visit in monsoon. The water level is extremely good and treat to your eyes. There are steps on the way to the falls, and be careful on the leaches out there. In monsoon, umbrella and raincoat are must to visit the falls. Also try to bring another set of clothes as a extra precaution. There are no good food options available nearby. Kushalnagar is one of the options for food.
It is a must visit place in monsoon.

Worth getting down those steps to witness a wonderful view.
Visit only in Winter or at the end of rainy seasons.
Car parking fees as of today is 60/-
You will get snacks and coffee/tea near the parking lot.
Better to download offline maps for ease.

This almighty fall looks very beautiful during monsoon. It gives an amazing view from different view points.
No entry fees to enter the fall. Paid Parking is available. There are eateries outside so no problem with food and water.
There are many steps which we need to take to reach to the bottom of waterfall. But you cannot go near waterfall or swim or play. You can view it from fence. It gets difficult and tiring for elders to climb up and back steps.
Better to go early morning or evening to avoid crowd and sun.

Mallalli falls is beautiful,we had been last week, the water levels is less, we are not allowed to play in the waterfalls.
One has to get down some 600+ stairs and climbing would be a big challenge,so plan accordingly. Keep yourself hydrated.
There are 03 stalls near the entrance of the waterfalls, basic snacks, juice and limited flavoured rice items one can expect.
Parking space is available and a minimum entry fees is taken.
Washroom facility is available but condition can be better.
The best time to visit is during Monsoon season to witness the beauty of the waterfalls.

The water falls are Amazing. We have to step down 700 + steps , is so thrilling. The Govt has put restrictions down as few people died. Even it is not safe to go to waterfalls to play with . The force of waterfalls is very huge hence fencing has put.
The waterfalls are looking good throughout your trekking down. This may not be suggested for elderly people .

The place is very beautiful. The water fall is a blessing to the eyes. Went in mid November, the water was less but still it is very mesmerizing. There around 600-650 steps which you need to take for reaching the waterfall. Swimming is not allowed. Fencing is done so that you can see it from a distance. There is ample parking space available. A few shops are also available with snacks. Beware of the goons in the name of tourist police there.

Absolutely gorgeous, must visit if you're in Sakleshpur....
You would have to walk(stairs) for 20-30 minutes to the waterfalls, could be tiring for older people but surely is worth that.
Usually open for all everyday, best time to visit this place would be in Monsoon, the waterfalls will have increased water flow.
You wouldn't have to worry about parking either...

Note: Tourists must not throw the waste water bottles and plastic wrappers in the premises. Authorities should increase the no.of dust bins as well. They are taking Rs. 50 parking charges (4W) for nothing..

TT parking at top of the mountain. Charge would be 100rs. Trip down to falls is long and around 600 steps in stairs. Coming back will be tiresome. Pack water. Gives u good trekking experience.
Elderly people can avoid going all the way down. There is view from up top within 100steps.
There are shops near entry point that sells snacks, drinks and fast food at higher price.

The road to the waterfall is full of greenery and flowers.
Visited this in December and still it was having good water flow. No wait time.

have to pay for the parking, we paid 60/- for the car, 20/- for bike i guess. visited on the off season, a cool place to visit if your nearby rather than all the other popular places. had fun time while descending and climbing those 1200 steps (up and down). wish there was some space to sit and enjoy the view of the falls, we used the stairs anyways, but would have been cool if there's some space dedicated for it.

Pure nature but the trek while getting down the stairs and climbing it again more than 45 years of adults is not at all recommended.
We enjoyed the trek while getting down and enjoyed the awesome view of the water falls one of the most recommended places to visit but a little hard while climbing back the hill and the stairs are too high
Over all worth watching the view here are few glimpse of the waterfalls which are captured by myself.

Beautiful Falls. You got to go down around 500+ Steps. But unfortunately its fenced and its hard to get a Good look at the Falls once you reach the End of Stairs. Would be Good if Govt make some arrangement to have a good view of the Falls.
Chelavara Water Falls is a picturesque waterfall nestled among hills surrounded by lush greenery. Visitors need to take a short trek of around 500 meters, which becomes narrow and steep towards the end, requiring caution. One can view the waterfall from a distance as there is no access down to the pool. The sound of water amidst the quiet forest provides a calming effect.
Scenic waterfall nestled among the hills.
You need to do a short and easy trek for around 500 meters. Initial path was broad however the last 250 meters are very narrow with sudden drops in elevation, so you need to be a bit careful.
The waterfall can be viewed from a distance only and there is no way of getting down to it to get soaked.
The sound of water amidst the quiet of the forest is simply rejuvenating and calming.
Plus point, there was no one else around for the full duration we were there.

But be careful about wild life.. I noticed fresh mark of bison and elephant and day or two old pug marks these climbing towards up side of falls from alternate road.

Chelavara waterfall is a beautiful waterfall, but there is no access to the waterfall. Therefore you can see the waterfall from a vantage point. A small narrow path that leads to the waterfall. The view of the waterfall is good. The waterfall is dangerous and hence the reason people are asked not to go near the waterfall. There were people who were bathing in the waterfall, in spite of the warning. 15 minutes is all it takes to visit this place. I suggest tourists can visit Kabbe hills and while returning stop here to see the waterfall

The view is absolutely beautiful. And this is how the falls looks in December. There's still a lot of water and there are caution signs put up all over the place. Please be careful here as it's slippery (during monsoon). It's best to just go and look at it from a distance. That's what we did. Also there's no Trek or anything to go to the falls. It's just a small scenic path through coffee plantation filled with rocks that you can easily walk through(some 400-500m). But the view is definitely worth it. 8/10 overall.

This place is on way to Tamara and the odyssey resort . You can search in google and this place is away from city but must visit for peace and falls view.
I visited in weekdays and early Morning time . There will be no time limit but not recommended after 6pm since it’s surrounded by forest and coffee plantation and no people and no light area.
The way is completely filled with estates and lush green and this falls will be visible to road . Kindly stop when you see board about falls because the way to falls will start here with small walking path .google shows top way which is not needed as it won’t have any falls view and waste of time .
It’s a small trucking for about 5-10mints and road is small and wet due to monsoon rain and near by water moisture .be careful while trucking and be aware of leech’s.
We can’t go near falls and play in water as lot of deaths happened due to slipping on stone issue in past but you will go very near to falls and view is damn good. In weekends there will b no people so you can take good picks and enjoy some lonely no crowd peace time.
No parking charge no entry free since nobody will be there but kindly be careful as there won’t be anyone around , you will be solely responsible for your safety.

It's a small beautiful waterfall. Visited in December, didn't have much water around that time.
This is a short trek of 300mts approximately from the main road. Authorities have blocked the way that goes to the bottom of the waterfall due to serious risk of injuries, but few still go taking huge risks.Parking is a constraint as we had to park on the road.
There's another spot for viewing the waterfall, either continue the trek from the 1st spot or keep driving up the same road. There will be a crossing of an unpaved road, park vehicle there and follow the unpaved road and you will reach destination after a short walk. This 2nd spot according to me is much more safer and easy to reach.

Manjarabad Fort Sakleshpur
Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Remains of a unique star-shaped fort built on a mountain in 1792 by Tipu Sultan.
Awesome tourist destination. If you have drone camera it will be a best site for photography. Photos on star edges will give you unique experience. You can visit this place any season but prefer visiting between August to February. Because the nature is at its peak. Their will be a drizzling and cool weather would make you feel energetic. You need to walk of stepup to reach the destination.

The top view of the fort shows it as a star shaped fort just a few kilometers from Sakleshpura. You need to park your car on road side and walk some 200 meters till you find the steps to climb.
There are more than 250 steps to climb before you reach the entry gate. Entry is in fact free. There are 2 dungeons inside the fort which are very small. The view of western ghats from the fort is awesome.
Overall, it will be nice visit to the fort specially in the winter season.

Nice fort with a good view of the surrounding sights. Being used mostly for keeping an eye on the aggressors entering the kingdom, it is not a very large fort but has a lot of watch towers for a view in different directions.
PS: It has quite a few flight of stairs which might make it a little difficult to access for the aged or people with arthritis etc.

One of the famous tourist place to visit once if you are planning to Sakleshpur side. It is Nice fort with good landscape view but unfortunately not properly maintained and lot of littering around the place. One needs to initially walk for 500 meters and then climb steps of around 250-300 steps to reach the fort. There is limited parking space on the road and few stalls/shops for quick snacks or juices. Overall Ok to visit once if you haven't seen it yet.

Only visit in rainy season.. the compound already collapsing..nothing is there .. when you visit in rainy season the port will look beautiful because of Greenery .. and there is no parking place to vehicles .. you have park your vehicle at your own risk. Still some construction work is going on.. be safe
Ravikumar07 — Google review
The place looks good from an aerial shot, but it's not as appealing when you visit in person, especially since there's no green cover during non-rainy seasons. You can visit if you have extra time on your hands.

Nice place and sun rise at this place is beauty. Morning very good air and the clear sky. Fort is of really in the star shape and it looks great.
Going through steps is also a good experience with the family and friends. Very nice view of the surrounding from the different fort wondows

Excellent fort. I'm not giving 5 stars because they don't allow to fly drones.
How can our country's beauty will be known and advertised to others if we cannot fly drones i suggest government to enable flying drones on such places. I don't see any harm in it.

Manjarabad Fort in Sakleshpur is a magnificent historical landmark. Its unique star-shaped architecture and panoramic views are awe-inspiring. The fort's rich history and well-preserved structure make it a must-visit for history buffs and photography enthusiasts. Don't miss this hidden gem! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Awesome place where we can see the best architecture of a mankind with a limited source. Shape of the fort is perfect star shapes without any errors, we need to be fit to reach the fort because we need to climb more than 400 steps and 1km in height. Main gate of the fort open at 8:00 am, parking facility is too bad, we need to reach location early otherwise we unable to get the nearby parking. Eatables and plastic bags are not allowed. People already started to ruin this place.

An amazing star shaped fort on the hill top in western ghats. Such a good place for group photos. This place needs a little hike uphill to reach the fort. Great views around.
rohith raj — Google review
If you visit, be aware that there are approximately 250 steps to climb. No detour is required because it is right on the major highway. The fort is truly beautiful, evoking a bygone period.
It is disappointing to see that the government is not investing in turning this into a tourist destination by adding information via boards or audio/visuals. They could make some money off of this, but at least they would be educating visitors about the area's illustrious past.
Sumit Ranjan — Google review
Fort is good. Be ready to climb some 300 odd stairs to reach the fort. Climbing is very steep. No entrance charges. It closes sharp at 5pm and security will force you out by 5:30. Views from the fort is good but not maintained properly by the authorities At least the grass and wild weeds should be cut. Apart from that the fort is very beautiful and yes it definitely holds some past with it.
Sujai Chauhan — Google review
Beautiful place. Good for photography, so many spots to click your pics :) If you have a drone you can easily capture this star shaped fort! No entry fees. Have many steps, but you will not feel any difficulty while coming back. The place is nearby the highway, and opens at 8 am.

Visiting Manjarabad Fort was truly enchanting! Nestled amidst the lush Western Ghats, this historical gem captured my heart. The journey to the fort was an adventure, with winding roads revealing the breathtaking natural beauty around every turn. Its distinctive star-shaped architecture added a sense of grandeur to its historical importance. However, I couldn't locate any restroom facilities, and parking was a bit challenging as we had to park on the roadside along the busy Sakleshpura highway.
Nihal Athri — Google review
Nice fort with a scenic view, unfortunately tourists have ruined the place, it's not maintained properly...
Around 250 to 200 steps to climb, steps are manageable with kids ( number sounds big but we didn't face any trouble from kids while climbing).
Roadside parking facility and few ahops/hotels for quick snacks.
Kunal Shah — Google review
The fort doesn't require a ticket or parking charges. There is a long walk of around 30 mins to reach and includes around 100 stairs.
Quite a large area to roam around, if the weather is clear you can even see the Arabian Sea with a good lens.
You can carry your pets along, but definitely keep them on leash.
There are quite a few eateries near the fort entrance, but beware of monkeys.

My visit to Manjarabad Fort left me utterly enchanted, Situated amidst the lush Western Ghats, this historical fort is a true gem.
The drive up to Manjarabad Fort is an adventure in itself, with winding roads offering glimpses of the surrounding natural beauty.
The fort's unique star-shaped architecture adds a touch of grandeur to the historical significance it holds.
i didn't find Wash rooms
Parking is bit difficult and needs to be parked on road side on the busiest Sakleshpura highway.

Nice Fort but proper maintenance will be value Addition with lightings. It will be more lively during rainy days I believe.
There should be some sort of arrangement with aerial view which gives more value to visitors.

I'll never travel to Madikeri without this trip planner again
Abbey Falls is a picturesque tourist attraction located 1 kilometer from the town, known for its natural beauty and mesmerizing sound of water cascading over rocks. Surrounded by lush coffee plantations and spice estates, it was previously named Jessie Falls during colonial times. With a height of around 70 feet, this magnificent waterfall joins the Kaveri River and provides visitors with stunning views amidst its scenic surroundings.
Good place to visit. A lovely waterfall though water was less as it was March. A rope bridge to other side of fall is broken currently. Need a long walk across various steps. People with walking /climbing issues need to be careful while visiting. There are benches on the way for people to rest. Well maintained area with a entry fee for visitors and parking fee for cars. Must visit if you are in Madikeri.
Hareesha — Google review
The waterfalls at this location are a sight to behold. It is necessary to descend around 100 steps to get to the base of the falls, but the view is worth it. The surrounding plantations add to the beauty of the area. While the overall experience was positive, the bridge leading to the falls could have been better maintained.
The water from the falls is refreshing and has the ability to wash away stress and rejuvenate the senses. It's no wonder that this place is a must-visit for nature lovers. Thanks to the efforts of the local community in Coorg, this beautiful natural attraction has been preserved for all to enjoy. The small fee of Rs.10 for entry is a small price to pay for such a mesmerizing experience.
Harshith Kumar — Google review
Good one.. We have to watch and come back from a point. No access to reach/ touch/ bath in falls. You have to visit the point through stairs only. No ramp or other source. Elderly people may face difficulty. So I have rated 3. Presently this photo is my mobiles wall paper.
Gowdham Kt — Google review
Visited here last year, it was a sunny day and humidity was high. It would have been wonderful if we could have access to the waterfall but we saw that the bridge was broken(not actually broken but twisted in a weird way). Still it looked quite stunning while in sunlight. Even though I hope that the bridge is fixed soon so that waterfall might become accessible, in a way it's good because people might start littering near the waterfall and it wouldn't be the same.

Abbe Falls in Coorg is a breathtaking natural wonder that left me in awe. The moment I arrived, the sound of cascading water and the lush greenery captivated my senses. The falls were a beautiful sight, with water gushing down the rocks, creating a mesmerizing view.
The pathway to the falls was well-maintained, making the journey enjoyable and safe. I appreciated the effort put into ensuring visitors could access the site comfortably. There were plenty of spots to take photos and admire the beauty of nature.
I particularly loved the surrounding forest and the variety of trees and plants. The air was so fresh and filled with the pleasant aroma of nature. It felt like a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
One thing to keep in mind is that it can get a bit crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. However, even with the crowd, the falls' natural beauty shone through.
Overall, Abbe Falls is a must-visit if you're in Coorg. It's a great place to connect with nature and witness the sheer wonder of a waterfall. I left with a sense of tranquility and a memory of a truly beautiful place.

The view of the falls is amazing but swimming is not allowed in this falls. There are parking lots available for you to park your vehicles, and you have to walk around 100 steps to reach the falls which is little tiring but worth it to watch the falls. The place where you stay and watch the falls isn't spacious enough. Overall a good experience.
kreethan dsouza — Google review
It is a good place. Around 50-80 steps to go down to witness the falls. Amazing plantations surrounded. A one time visit.
Could have maintained it in a better way though & repaired the damaged bridge.
Good experience.
10/- for entry*
Vaishnavi — Google review
Good place to visit which is nearer to town. You need to get an entry ticket and walk for few minutes to reach the falls.
Best time to feel the falls will be during the monsoon where you have huge water running from the mountain.
Note: You won't be able to go near the water. You can view the falls and click pictures.
Vipin Thampan — Google review
Beautiful !! The place looks like largely destroyed by flood and landslides. But still safe to go. It's a spectacular view. Don't go near the waterfalls during rains as the source of water is from mountains above and at any time huge floods can fill the river in no time. There are many spots for clicking photos. Be careful entering the river as stones are so polished and slippery. Overall a must visit place

Good place to watch sunset. It get very crowded at the time of sunset. Parking space is there but it gets filled real fast during sunset time. Garden is beautiful and clean. No eatables or plastic bags are allowed inside garden. Grass was clean and flowers were blooming. Lot of seating space in the amphitheater like structure. Its good to be there during evening. there is a temple next to garden where you can hear loud chants..it makes the while experience
majestic.

Loved this place. The view was so amazing to see sunset. Sunset was not visible as it was drizzling here and there. But that was not bad either. It was beautiful to see various clouds moving as well. Also, they were constricting and renovating the view path.
The place was clean. Visitors did not trash the place much. The park had lots of greens and flowers. Once the construction is complete, I trust that there would be more adjacent view points.

Raja’s seat is basically a well maintained park which has wide variety of flowers planted at the entrance and various animal statues installed all over the park. Kids would enjoy this place. Once you reach the other end of the park, the view will just blow your mind. The best time to visit the place would be during sunset. There is a sitting area with benches to sit, relax and enjoy the sunset. Parking area for vehicles is about 100 meters away from the park.
Raja's Tomb, located in Madikeri, is an impressive archaeological site featuring three tombs adorned with intricate traditional carvings. This popular tourist spot is situated at the northern corner of the town and is dedicated to King Virarajendra and his wife Mahadeviamma. The 18th-century monument boasts Indo-Saracenic architecture with domes, turrets, and carvings of Nandi.

Prominent Hindu temple to the god Shiva with 4 minarets, a dome & a fish-filled pond.
Very calm and peaceful temple inside the city. One must walk around the temple for the cool air and serene feel. Temple is very clean and has unique architecture. There is pond infront of the temple with many fishes inside. There is also anjaneya swamy temple very nearer to shivas temple.
Sruthi chandana Marmavula — Google review
Its a temple. Anyone can visit but there is a dress code to follow. Which I suggest you do if you want to visit the temple area of the compound. Anyone can roam around the pond area. Its a quiet place with occasional temple bell.

It's a beautiful temple in the middle of the city. The god here is Lord Shiva. There is a beautiful pond inside temple premises.
The Omkareshwara Temple displays a unique style of architecture. The temple has a design that is quite similar to the ones seen in Muslim dargah. The structure of the temple comprises of a large central dome with four minarets standing at the four corners.

Not worth going all the way 30kms from COORG,. It's all the way 1km walk from parking lot, It's a very commercialized site now. Shopping area outside is good if you have a great bargaining prowess. One Saree showroom had a 50% discount which was very great bargain hunting.

Nice place in Coorg. They have a deer park and also a bird park. Entry for both is separate charges. There is also some activities available here like zip lining for an additional charge. Built in a large space and has some great views. Boating also available
Sunil Dmello — Google review
A scenic place for sure but only interesting things are the wooden suspension bridge over kaveri river and bamboo(which you can see literally anywhere). They charge you for parking, entry, activities (which are not at all worth it). When you enter it feels like a couple's paradise as everywhere you see are couples visiting for some quality time, other than that theirs a small shopping and food zone at the entrance.TLDR skip this place if you are planning on visiting here.
