Puerto de Punta del Este is a vibrant and evolving port that has become a hub for both locals and tourists. Over the years, it has transformed from a seasonal destination to a thriving area with permanent residents and essential infrastructure. The port offers various activities for visitors, including bus tours that showcase the diverse landscapes of the region, such as beach towns and inland areas. Additionally, tourists can explore attractions like the Carlos Paez Vilaro studio and museum.
Took bus tour. Was great got to see the beach towns vs the inland area. See how that homes change. Being a peninsula, there is soot in town where it appears as an island with water in all 4 sides.
Also went to the Carlos Paez Vilaro studio and museum. Excellent highly recommend.
Some loca interestingl sites were pointed out and the food was really good.

The port is a place where many different people and groups can enjoy themselves from morning till night. My family and I have been visiting the place since the 1980's and seen incredible development and transformation of what used to be a very short tourist season. Now with a more permanent population and corresponding infrastructure, the port has come into its own for residents and visitors alike. Great for people of all ages to walk, for dining, sight seeing (boat tours), just hanging out to take in the marine air and sun, and of course to buy fresh fish and fruits de mer.

This is a wonderful place. Not only you can enjoy the amazing views of punta del este, have a delicious fresh bite in one of the many restaurants next to the water or take a boat to one of the close by islands (isla gorriti and isla de lobos) but also you can see a beautiful display of sea agles and sea lions being fed by the fishermans who along the day clean their fresh catch (you can also buy fresh sea food) and throw the remains into the water creating a dinamic and amazing "dance" of these beautiful wild animals flying and swimming around the bay to eat.. This is a perfect example of harmony and beauty between the economical interests of a city and the wild animals that inhabit the surrinding areas. It is a perfect win-win ecosystem! And an amazing spectacle!!

An excellent place or marina
Good boat services and repairs
Gas station over there for them
From that part departures tourist boats to Gorriti Island and to Lobos Island
Also fish boats
It is common to see sea lions over the port as they are part of the family of the port.
In winter is not empty but less movement

The Hand, a significant beach sculpture in Punta del Este, was created by Mario Irarrázabal in 1982. Constructed with iron and cement, the large concrete hand protrudes from Playa Brava's sands and has become a well-known landmark. The magnetic attraction of this monument draws thousands of visitors annually who climb its digits or take pictures with it. It won first prize at a monumental art competition and is located southeast of the bus station.
Smart concept! Have fun and play in the sand. Some say it is for surfers to be careful in the strong wave water.

Such a fun place to visit! I loved it. A must go!
Patty Vasconez — Google review
The weather is bad. When I say that, it's an understatement, it's bad weather in Punta del Este / Uruguay. Wind speeds of 40 km and more, plus heavy rain. But it is said that there is no such thing as bad weather, only badly dressed people. Magda's mother used to say "you are not made of sugar, you will not dissolve". There would be another way to escape the weather, drive away to nicer weather regions. We faced the weather. We walked 15 km today and stayed alive. In the video are the fingers of Punta del Este, they were made by a Chilean artist who won an international competition with them in 1984. They are meant to symbolise a warning to swimmers, the currents on the beach are very dangerous and have caused distress to many a good swimmer.
Peter Bauer Insta pbauer2602 — Google review
The symbolic place at Punta del Este. We visited there at the begging of May in the morning around 8:40am.
There was very few people, so it was easy to take a photo only with my family.
Punta del Este was so much fun place.

The innovation and beauty of the idea are paramount! It’s an admirable and very well executed piece of art of Irarrázabal. Unfortunately as it is, such a big sculpture exposed in a harsh environment by the sea suffers with time, wind and temperature and some revival should be on the call.
Andre Meireles Borba — Google review
Very interesting idea. Have a lot of patience if you want to take a good picture, there is a lot of people most of the time and kids climbing the thumb.

Playa Brava is a popular beach in Jose Ignacio, known for its strong sea and fast currents, making it suitable for experienced swimmers. The area attracts a diverse crowd, from supermodels to families with children. Nearby La Huella offers refreshing clerico (white sangria) for beachgoers. On the other side of the peninsula lies Playa Mansa, with calm waters perfect for swimming and ideal for families.

Located at the base of the city, Playa Mansa is a serene and sandy shoreline that presents an excellent setting for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying a picnic. The waters are tranquil at one of Punta's most prominent and lengthy beaches. The sand quality is remarkable, with shallow water depth and plenty of food stands nearby. Additionally, it provides a safe environment for children if supervised by an adult.

Long beach and has lots of mirador stops as indicated on google maps. You can walk on the streets to view the nice buildings and apartments that have amazing gardins (flowers and trees). It feels like they are competing for the best gardin of flowers. The beach has lots of washrooms along the way. It was a nice walk from the road and I would enter the different beach entrances to see what they built as a malacon view or sometimes statues.

One of the top five beaches I've been to in the world, including the Croatian coast, Hawaiian coast, and western United States. It might not look it at first, but spend a day or afternoon here and watch the sunset, and I think you'll agree. Additionally, the neighboring beach town is great, with great cuisine beautiful coastal roads, and fun shops.

Nice white sand beaches, smaller waves than "playa brava ". Safe for children if attended by an adult.
The Enjoy Punta del Este Resort and Casino offers elegant accommodation in a high-end property with refined dining, a casino, and a nightclub. The hotel is served by its own duenos who have transformed it into the main reference point for finding all the collections and breathing the independent spirit of the brand. Always with good music playing, there's always something to tempt you with when looking for glasses on the Explore shop at the hotel.
Totally Enjoyed. Room was large, but where we stayed was a little dated. The gym and spa area are excellent. Casino has plenty of activities, pool area is awesome, drinks and food available at pool area. They also have a gratis area across the street with umbrellas, chairs and towels, and available food and drinks. Great location, nice views, free self parking.

Rooms are old and dirty. Even the upgraded rooms have stained carpet and old disgusting linens. They really don't clean after each guest at the restaurant either. Staff is inconsiderate and unwelcoming. Stayed twice here for the location and the indoor pool, but both stays were unpleasant. I guess they can get away with charging high prices for a sub-par hotel because of the location.
Laura H — Google review
I feel like this place has seen better days (emg., rooms feel a bit outdated), but service was outstanding to make up for it. Gives you those cruise ship vibes.
Facilities are a mixed bag. Oddly short gym working hours and useless men's spa area. However, both the outdoor and especially indoor pool (don't mistake it for a relax zone) areas were great.

I was attending an event (stand-up comedy) so I didn't even see the rooms. Logistics for the event were managed very well, with tons of people helping everyone to get to seats and managing the check-in process. Parking is really bad because nobody was there to organize it or help, and there were no signals to help either. The ballroom was properly set, but AC was very hot at the beginning

one of Punta's well-known hotels that changed owner and name. The casino makes the difference. Nice restaurants and bars. I didn't eat so I don't know if the food was that good, the drinks were fine anyway. Very good location.
Antonis Papagiannopoulos — Google review
Short and sweet: this is a wonderful hotel.
Generous pours of wine, good service overall, nice ambience. The casino terrace has a gorgeous view of the beach especially at sunset hours.
The location could not be better. There are many restaurants at the hotel: sushi and buffet (a little overpriced for the food selection). If you appreciate good food especially meat you can find a better place to have dinner for the price.
For the most part you can’t go wrong with this hotel.

I love my coffee robust and my food hot and tasty. We traveled out for our morning breakfast and coffee every day after the first days experience. The plumbing in the room has issues. The front door would not close easy. Then wouldn't lock shut. Beds are ok. I did get a kick out of the croupiers. Almost forgot to mention the views from the balcony are awesome!!!

We booked for a visit, tasting and lunch for 12:30pm. We had to wait an hour… The visit never happened!
The view is stunning, wine was ok but the lunch was not up to the price. It wasn’t fresh.

My only suggestion would be to give more directions on how to access the place from the main road. We figured it out, but wouldn’t have minded a bit of info beforehand since we had to open two gates ourselves.

(Translated by Google) Very nice place. Like all the historical places that I visited in Uruguay until now, it needs to be developed a little more, tell a little more history, add some more attraction. For example, the Puma fountain has a button to press to dispense water, but it doesn't work. You could charge a minimum entrance fee and have that fountain work and explain that this water is the purest just coming down from the waterfall and that it can be drunk, for example. Let there be an interactive museum showing the packaging process. Something that explains why Patricia's plant is at the entrance, in short, so many things that could be done to improve. It is still worth stopping to know.

Very good experience at this winery. People took time to explain what they sre doing and tasting was well narrated.
Food was may be okay, but overpriced. Typically, you will pay up for a kick at such places, but we were underwhelmed with all dishes and they appeared to us quite bland.
Surprisingly the cheaper Tenant Cemento was better tasting vs 3 times more expensive one. Chardonnay 2015 was not good for $27.
All prices are in the US$. App for $18, mains for @$40, deserts aare for $15. Wines are starting at @$40.
Interesting point, they have caviar service with Champaign....very unusual, full spread goes for $375.

Just an incredible place. Beautiful setting in the middle of rolling hills. Unfortunately that's where it all ends. Tour was less than interesting. Then worse was the wine tasting. How you can possibly have someone who knows nothing about your wines. Nor speaks clear Spanish or English be the person who serves your wines to your visitors. Mine you this is not a cheap experience. Truly a shame!! We were sat in a beautiful setting. Then our wines served all the same time. No explanation, no personally, no interaction nothing. We were 4 people and only given appetizers for 3. Ridiculous attention and you might as well bring a bag of potato chips for what you get. The only feed back and interest was when we approached the bar and started talking to the girl behind counter. She told us more and let us try other wines. Which we ended up buying. Sorry, because of our experience. I can not recommend anyone waste their time nor money at Vina Eden.

The food was very very expensive and simply awful. The wine and the location are nice but this does not make up for the bitter taste of spending hundreds of US$ for some of the worst food we have had in Uruguay.
For $40 each (just the main) we got a very overcooked, dry and tough steak. With tasteless watery boiled potatoes (unseasoned), overcooked brocoli, a sauce that had mushrooms in but just tasted of red wine, and raw red pepper that clashed with everything else on the plate.
The children's food was inedible, it was milanesa so tough they couldn't chew it. They just ate fries (we ordered more and had some ourselves to spare us from the boiled potato).

Excellent vineyard, located just 30min away driving from Punta del Este. Great views and very good service, the staff speak Spanish, Portuguese and English. I strongly recommend the vineyard tour, the wine maker itself drives you and explains all the details, from the terroir, the plants, how they grow the vines and produce their delicate wines. The type of wine they produce is very similar to European/french wines, with local grapes and elaborated the traditional way. Cheese and wine for lunch and an awesome view is a great plan for the weekend. On your way back, take the chance and visit Pueblo Eden, just a small rural town that has a few gastronomic jewels to offer.

Waterfall in a large state park with mineral & crystalline pools, trails, a restaurant & activities.
One of the best nature spots in the country. Beautiful waterfall that runs through a rock channel into a pond with hills all around. Great spot for a picnic, to relax, or do some of the activities they offer.

With a beautiful lake and wonderful waterfall, Salto del Penitente is a gorgeous site to visit while in Uruguay. The hike to the different locations on the site is short, yet a bit steep to go to the waterfall.
There are also zipline attractions in the site, though a very short glide.

Excellent views and the waterfall is amazing. Best time is to go after a rain so that the water levels are good.
The Zipline is good, has 2 phases and is reasonable.

Bodega Garzón is a stunning winery and restaurant offering breathtaking vineyard views, cellar tours, and wine tastings featuring a variety of red, white, and sparkling wines. Visitors can indulge in the Cooking Experience which includes a tour of the winery followed by a hands-on meal preparation session. The architecture and sustainability efforts at the winery are highly impressive. Guests rave about the Albarino wine and enjoy delicious meals with picturesque views.
Incredible winery and restaurant. If you like architecture you’d definitely love this place. Very interesting art as well.

My recent visit to Bodega Garzón in Garzón was an absolute delight! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the stunning scenery and the warm hospitality of the staff. The tour itself was informative and engaging, providing a fascinating glimpse into the world of winemaking at Bodega Garzón. A special thanks in this regard to our guide, Emiliano. Excellent is not enough to describe your knowledge and how he conducted our group.
The wine tasting elevated the experience as well. Each sip was a revelation, showcasing the exceptional quality and unique character of their wines. The pairing with cheese, bread, and olives perfectly complemented the flavors, creating a truly memorable culinary journey.
I left Bodega Garzón feeling both informed and deeply satisfied. If you're looking for an unforgettable wine experience in Uruguay, I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary.

We had an excellent experience. Very impressive buildings, surroundings and view.
An extremely friendly and professional staff. We would like to especially thank Maurizio for the wine tasting and his attentive and knowledgeable explanations. We were happy to be able to buy some of the best wines. The food was OK but not quite up to the standard. But we would be happy to come again.

Overpriced and overrated.
We drove 1h extra to visit this place. When you arrive there is a guarded fence when they ask your name and if you are on the list. So unnecessary.
The staff was amazing. Kind and warm. But with this kind of restaurant i would expect top notch service. Empty glasses were left on the table far too long. We had 2 empty glasses and 1 with wine each at one point.
Food was ok. But not up to our expectation. I dont mind paying for for good food and wine but this was simply insulting!
Unless you want to play big shot and be seen with wannabe posh people I would avoid…

We enjoyed wonderful experience in Garzon winery. They organized winery tour and restaurant. It made us satisfied a lot.
The tour was in Spanish, Portuguese and English, by any language.
And their restaurant was also incredible quality with their hospitality.
Garzon is new winery compare with other wineries. But their passion for crating high quality wines are one of the best.
It’s worth to visit there to use a whole day.

We did the wine tour and stayed for lunch. The winery is one of the best bodegas we have visited, the technology and sustainability efforts are amazing.
Talking about wine, we particularly loved their Albariño (must have). Lunch menu was also great and we enjoyed with a great view.

Words are hard to describe the amazing experience my wife and I had at Garzón. We have been to several well known wine regions and wineries; such as Achaval Ferrer in Mendonza (Argentina) and Quinta dos Fades em Douro (France), but this experience was the best we have ever had.
We booked the Cooking Experience with tour. The experience starts at 11am with a tour of the winery and ends with a full course meal prepared by yourself. Our entire experience lasted about 3 and a half hours.
Our guide, Natalia, was amazing. We learned she is a Biologist by trade and among one of her focuses is on soil. She went into depth to describe how the region's soil, and its minerals, are a conduit to cultivate great wines. As a matter of fact, the premiere wine from the Garzón winery is called Balasto; which is the top layer of pebbled soil in the Garzón region. We learned so much from her during the tour and she was very gracious.
After the tour, we were guided to a private table at the far end of the kitchen that overlooks the winery (picture uploaded). The table was posited where we had views of the winery, the kitchen and the restaurant - simply amazing.
We were greeted by Santiago, the Sous Chef for the restaurant and our personal teacher in the cooking experience. Normally, we would be guided by the resident chef, Francis Mallmann, but he was on a trip to Peru during our visit. Needless to say, Santiago was a fantastic teacher.
We had homemade empanadas, homemade bread, salad with grilled oranges, and a perfectly seasoned steak with onions & potatoes roasted in a wood oven by using a traditional cooking method - covering the veggies completely in salt to protect the food from the intense heat.
Each step in the process was accompanied by specific wines - 2022 Chardonnay . 2018, Seis Manos e 2021 Tannat Reserva. The Seis Manos wine is only sold from the winery and was D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S! We bought an entire case :)
As a gift, we were provided the recipes for each dish we made and two aprons.
Conclusion, the experience was a little pricey but it was worth every cent. If you can afford spending a few extra dollars, step away from a typical guided wine tour and invest in an opportunity of a lifetime!

Incredible Winery in Uruguay, they are specialist in Tannat Red Wine, is very good. And them have Cabernet Franc, Six Hands Blend, and Marseland Reserve 2018. The place is Amazing, if you are in Uruguay absolutely you need to visit them, I promise. The only bad thing is that is further from Punta del Este, is like 1:15 hours in car.

The Saint Peter Cathedral, established in August 1755, holds the distinction of being the oldest church in Rio Grande do Sul and along the Laguna (SC) to Montevideo (Uruguay) region. Operating as a parish from 1756 onwards, this historic cathedral has served as a prominent center for religious worship and social gatherings within the city of Rio Grande. Situated at the heart of a burgeoning settlement, it has played a pivotal role in fostering faith and promoting communal interaction.
In August 25, 1755 was born the oldest church of Rio Grande do Sul and also the oldest since Laguna (SC) to Montevideo (Uruguay).
In 1756 the Matriz de São Pedro starts its parish life with the administration of the sacraments.
Rooted in the center of the recent and newest settlement, the Church would play a leading role as focus radiator of faith and concentration element of sociability in the city of Rio Grande.

The Museum was installed in an old residence built in 1863, in the former Chácara dos Barões de Três Serros, which was donated to the municipality in 19781. The museum has a collection of more than three thousand pieces, which portray the habits of Pelotas society in the late from the 19th century to the beginning of the 1930s2. The pieces include clothing, furniture, porcelain, silverware, documents and photographs. The museum also has a beautiful architectural and landscape complex, with a bathroom, a small castle, a cave, two lakes and a French-style garden3. The place is a symbol of the history, culture and art of Pelotas. The museum itself is under renovation, but the park is open for visitors. A very large space to admire the nature present.

Small parking lot right in front. Free entrance.
The Parque da Baronesa Municipal Museum, formerly Chácara dos Barões de Três Serros, is the region where the settlement of Pelotas began, with the installation of the first charqueadas, around 1800. The old residence includes a set of architectural elements with a romantic taste,
such as a small castle, a bathroom, a fountain, a French and an English garden, canals with bridges and lakes with an island, a cave (with a brick masonry structure covered with mortar imitating stone, which was studded with raw quartz) and a 1935 American bungalow-style townhouse.
They could all be better demarcated and restored but it's still worth knowing.

The Public Market of Porto Alegre is a great place to buy local produce and try out the different culinary delights the city has to offer. With 110 merchants selling art, crafts, snacks and more, there is sure to be something for everyone. The market gets busy at night so it's best to visit during daytime hours when it's less crowded.
Lovely old fashion building done in the format of many european markets with lots of well stocked stalls from the mundane to great delicatessen. Worth a visit plus make sure after this you walk towards the river where you can take catamara to Barra Shopping or to Guati for just over 10R or else an hour trip looking at all tourist sights with a different company for 30R cash or 35 if you pay with credit card. Great and modern stadium, home of Grêmio one of the most traditional Brazilian football teams. They don't sell beer inside and there is a metro station quite close. If you are not from the city i suggest to take a cab or Uber.

Very nice soccer stadium in Porto Alegre. Architecturally outstanding. Just think is important after the game to have a better organization to exit the area.

Pretty cool place, but I don't speak Portuguese so I didn't really know what was going on. It seemed like a nice place!

I recommend this place for a big choice of shops of local and international brands, where you can find a good quality stuff in affordable prices, even comparing to Europe, these prices are very fair.

Reasonable prices, not that attractive. Too hot, the place requires more trees and plants to be more pleasant. Or change the whole buzz for a closed/indoor place, a.k.a. mall.

A lot of shoes, that's what this shopping centre is about. The outlets are not as cheap or as discounted as they should be though, given the outlet name.
It has a good food court.
It has free parking.

This is the biggest winery in Brazil. I took the tour with the guide and she explained everything to me in details. Before the end of the tour, they teach you how to drink the wine. Definitely recommended

Years ago I used to come quite often.. I did the tasting, visitation etc. this year I went just to buy one specific wine (Lote 43). I wanted to try other wines (specifically the pinot noir. For my surprise they told us they don’t do more tasting of single bottles and you have to do the paid tasting. They would allowed me to do to the tasting without the visitation, but when I asked which wines were included they would not tell. But basically pinot noir would not be one of them. So what’s the purpose? You go to a winery to try the flavour and then buy a bottle. The staff it is nice the place ia beautiful but the wine purchase was disappointed and then after coming here before definitely not coming back

Absolutely a deception in regards of presentation and expectation. Perhaps my expectation was really high, but I definitely was expecting much more of a vineyard like Miolo. I love the scooters collection. But the person presenting the history and the wine fabrication was so robotic and not passionated about the products, productions and the history itself. A pity! Hope they can improve.

This place has a nice view and good structure. Visited it there with my family and it all started bad with the cashier, who also seems to be the manager there. She was extremely rude when we were picking the items we wanted and inquired about the extremely high cost of the wine glasses (yes, you have to buy the glasses).

Went here for a wine tour during the week. Did several other wine tours in the area over 1,5 weeks before. The company has become a typical example of a company growing too fast. Amongst other things this made it lose its authenticity. The tour guide sought no connection with the crowd and talks in a way someone would give a presentation in a primary school. Other employees are just at the company for work and do not really seem to care about their customers. It almost seems that the company scale increase made it lose just that which allowed it to grow: a good story; passionate people; a company that is actually working on a product instead of providing models "showing" the proces; and a tasting with a build in flavors instead of a mix. If you just want to be informed on a factory proces and taste some wine: go here. If you want to be guided through authentic companies by passionate people who do what they love: go elsewhere. There a plenty of companies in the area around Bento which are worth a visit. This could be on the same road, or in other areas like Faria Lemos.

Amazing winery where is one of the most famous one in Brazil. We can enjoy tasting with a lot of options including rare wine.
Their wines are fruity, tasty, and simple good.
In addition, we can have cuisine in their restaurant. It is course menu, but we can choose each food with several options.

Today we stopped just for the store and look around. It is even beautiful than was years before. We went to tasting a few grapes to choose which buy. The sales guy was extremely kind and explained very well the difference between the grapes. Totally recommend. I would highly recommend the visitation, I did a few times in the past and it is really nice and beautiful. Try their nature sparkling it is amazing
ANA CAROLINA PIUSSI MACHADO — Google review
Every single person from Valduga treated us graciously and respectful, without rush, teaching us about everything we asked about.
We were awarded a very funny and long chat with one of the owners, Mr. João Valduga, who more than just explain about the place, made thousand of good jokes, promoting the same sensation of being in a small and familiar winery.
Most important! They have a cute dog called Nero waling over there

Casa Valdua's tour was an amazing experience (even though I bought the cheapest one). We went through Casa Valdua's history while walking inside the their cave. Also, we tried a select set o wines and champagne. We could see their special cave where Gregorian music is played to the wine. In the end we had short tour outside Casa Valduga.

Parque Temático Epopeia Italiana is a spectacle that showcases the story of Italian immigrants who arrived in Southern Brazil in 1875. The performance, featuring life-sized sets, lasts about 45 minutes and is filled with history and culture.
Very interesting story and beautifully presented

If you would like to know the history of Italian immigration in Brazil, this is a good place. You walk through old houses and villages and hear an Italian character talking about the trip, very interesting.

Vinícola Aurora is a historic winery established in 1931, offering guided tours and tastings in a beautifully restored cellar with vaulted arches. It is Brazil's largest and most acclaimed winery, known for its commercial accessibility. The cooperative began with 16 families and has since become a prominent name in the industry. Visitors can enjoy an excellent tour experience, led by knowledgeable guides like Julia who provide insightful commentary during tastings.
Free entrance ! Very kind worker! I got a private tour as I did not speak Portuguese. The tour guide was in English and at the end there is a wine tasting of 7 bottles aprox. The interior decoration is beautiful with Greek Gods, saints for protection, and shows all the flags of exporting countries in descending order! Really worth it and at the end you can buy bottles at a discount.

An excellent experience. Special thanks to "Julia" who was our guide and doing her first English speaking tour - she was fantastic. We arrived for a tour in the early afternoon and were lucky to be in a small group of 2. Julia gave us an excellent guided tour and then we went to a private tasting room. The wines, and Julia's commentary, were first class. We were allowed to taste some special wines. We really enjoyed it. The tour was free, and we bought some wine to take away.

The tour on the winery is for free, the guides are really polite and the tasting at the end of the tour is really good. The place is beautiful and it's worth the visit. If you like something in the winery shop, buy it because the prices are better than on a supermarket
Lau Angarita — Google review
The tour is totally FREE of charge and it is amazing. They show a brief video about the place and origin and a guided tour that goes underground to see the huge tanks where the wine and other products are made. Ending with a tasting session where you can try the the multiple times awarded wine selection. You can't go wrong by taking this tour...
