First, this is a difficult place to visit. A group guide is required, that is available only at the fazeda (hotel) near the entrance. Secondly, know that reaching the hotel involves driving about 45 minutes on rough gravel roads. The tour is set-time, staring at 4:00 PM and ending after dark. Thus you are driving back to the paved road on dark gravel roads.
Now for the tour. The group will walk a couple of miles with a serious incline. This is not mountain climbing, but rigorous for old and fat people. The group stops at various location to observe the "Flintstones" terrain. There are indeed odd rocks, massive boulders scattered about. Nothing comparable in the USA. The end of the walk is on top, with a perfect view of the surrounding valley and sunset. Take lots of photos.
Tnis is highly recommended, if the logistics are not too scary. Oh, if you want you can eat and lodge at the hotel. This will avoid the nighttime drive back across the unpaved roads.

(Translated by Google) I've lost count of how many times I've been to this place and it's always incredible. At night we could see all the stars in the sky. The time I most recommend is sunset, which is simply fantastic.
You buy the ticket at the reception of the Pai Mateus hotel (which is about 12km from the city) and go to the location with your car at the scheduled time and they will send a local guide for information. The cost of the tour is R$40 per person and is well worth it. I also recommend calling ahead to find out more about how it's working.
Take your cell phone charging for the photos 😍
At sunset the stones turn orange colors and it looks beautiful.

A noite conseguimos ver todas as estrelas no céu.

(Translated by Google) Every route is very beautiful:
1- During the trail you will also find very beautiful houses and lodgings.
2- After the first climb you will find a gentleman who sells a spectacular sugarcane juice. The best I've ever had. Even the ice itself is made from sugarcane juice.
3- Both the residents of the city, Bezerros, and the residents around the mountains are very friendly.
4- There is also a bus that goes up to a cultural space where there is a great restaurant. When you leave this cultural space, you walk another 3km until you actually arrive at the Ecological Park. Be careful that the last time the bus brings you back is around 15:30. If you get lost, you will have to be lucky to find a ride, as there is no other transport service. I was informed that on Saturdays, due to the local bars, there is the possibility of finding Vans after 6pm that can transport you back to the city.
5- The ecological park has many good areas to take pictures. Beware that there are some undergrowth that can cut. There is a lot of green and in some places you can feel the humid air.
6- The whole route starting from the initial plate until reaching the ecological park would classify as moderate level. I had to stop a few times to get some rest.
7- According to my Amazfit, the total traveled: 16.41 km.
Hope this helps. Sorry if I didn't provide as much information, as it was my first trail.

7- Segundo minha Amazfit o total percorrido: 16,41Km.

It's a quiet trail, which you can do alone - basically just go around the hill, with some entrances to see the viewpoints (carambola, coconut tree, and others that I don't remember the name of right now), but there are no signs to tell you which way to go. the tourist must follow. We were lucky to find a large group that had already done the trail and already knew the way, and helped us find the exit - because we had given up on going down the last steps of the trail because we didn't know if it was the right way, and also because it was quite strange... the Serra Negra region still has a lot to grow in terms of tourism.

It's one of the best parks in the city, especially for a walk, with good tracks and signals throughout the way. However, it is not that clean nor a really beautiful place. There's almost no other plant than eucalyptus, since this tree release substances that usually supress any other kind of plant. Then there's no grass to rest and play on, and soil is exposed and hard, except in the fields for games such as volleyball and soccer, where the ground is sand.
During the Winter Festival, special events are held in here, such as concerts, art demonstrations and circus.

Our visit took place before isolation.
In the Nossa Senhora da Corrente Church, which is located in Praça 12 de Abril, there is one of the most beautiful churches in the world. Painted in gold and built by a wealthy family. There, only invited guests could participate in their masses, including one of the most illustrious, Emperor D. Pedro II, when in 1859, he was in Penedo, and participated in an exclusive ceremony. In this church it is possible to observe a “secret” entrance where the benefactor hid fugitive slaves. A tiny space that accommodates 4 to 5 people standing up. It is also possible to see the statue of the patron saint without the chains that were stolen. Beautiful tiles form rich panels telling the story of Penedo.
I recommend the visit.

Recomendo a visita.

We went on Marcos and his wife Kesia's boat, who gave a small explanation of the history of the river, and took photos for everyone on the boat, very friendly. We took a wonderful swim in the river and returned to the city through the dunes in 4x4 jeeps. Too good! Stunning landscapes, there was skibunda too! We pass by a farm, where we can observe the sudden change in the landscape, from dunes to vegetation.
Special mention goes to the As Ribeirinhas reception team. We decided to do the tour last minute and everything went well! We were very well received and the follow-up was always very professional. At the end they even offered a great hot coffee and cookies as a courtesy. We loved everything. I recommend!

The affection of Robério and his family is in every detail. You arrive at the agency and see that everything is well taken care of, from the painting to the fleet of cars for tours. The affection for the client is also clear, he calls the group and explains in advance what the tour will be like with many details in the introduction: he also gives valuable recommendations. Finally, and even most importantly, affection/respect for nature: that must be why I only saw cars from his agency on the route.
The entire team is very friendly and includes biologists who provide interesting information about local nature. I would spend hours talking to them.

Places of unique beauty will be visited, always in a very safe manner. And all accompanied by very didactic and rich lectures, which allow us to truly immerse ourselves in the entire history of this region which, despite being very beautiful, is still little explored by tourism.
On the way, you cross several farms with incredible passages until you reach the dunes. Furthermore, a quilombola community (Pixaim) is visited. There are moments of great fun going down the dunes on small boards. The journey ends at the mouth of the São Francisco River, where it is possible to bathe and even take a boat trip.
