Bodies of Water
Laguna San Nicolás is an off-the-beaten-path destination in Peru, offering a unique experience similar to Lake Titicaca. Located in a remote area of Cajamarca, the lagoon can be accessed via dirt roads like other destinations in the country. Although it may initially appear desolate and quiet, visitors have the opportunity to take a quick boat ride for a nominal fee using a simple rope and pull system. The boat itself is made from straw, adding to its intriguing charm.
Minutes before arriving your tour group will send your food request to the local restaurant, is a great, is very homey and they will treat you with the respect that you deserve

Off the beaten path location to visit. Been wanting to experience Peru’s lake tititaca for the similar boats and man made islands, so I was excited to see this nearby Cajamarca. Place itself is located in a remote area, access on dirt roads like most of country destinations. When I arrived by taxi not in a tour the lagoon seemed desolate and quiet. But I was able to arrange a quick boat ride for 5 soles. Which just consisted of a rope & pull system to the center of the lagoon. The man made boat from straw was interesting to ride. It was quite windy so I was happy to return to dock after a short pull. Didn’t get to venture to other side of lagoon or have lunch. Though it was a nice, mysterious, serene place.

Hacienda La Colpa
Farmstay
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Hacienda La Colpa is a stunning location with a charming chapel and magnificent architecture. The cows are enticed to eat through the use of their names being called out, adding to the picturesque scene. The "mirador" offers a breathtaking view, while various amenities like cheese, wine, and manjarblanco can be purchased. This vast hacienda showcases Cajamarca's finest products such as cheeses, delicacies, and cookies.

A nice experience. It is a farm mainly dedicated to cattle breeding, all kinds of dairy products are produced there. The proximity to the cows enchants those who do not usually frequent them. Very positive for the educational aspect.
It is on the historical aspect that the farm stands out, and in this sense the presence of a guide is recommended in order to understand the value of the human project at the base of this place.
xavier troque — Google review
The animals all need better treatment. All around, everything is green and the animals stand in cramped stalls without run or are tied to short ropes and displayed for the visitors. So were two calves at the entrance, which were thus at the mercy of all the visitors.
The "show", where the cows supposedly listen to their name and come in, is a farce. A wanna be cowboy, who knows the names by heart, swings his whip with some kind of explosive in it. It sounds like a gunshot every time. A lot of kids were crying and scared and we adults didn't like it either. The cows just have their hierarchy and know who gets to go in and when. That's all there is to it.
This is not an original farm like it's supposed to be. It's all just a show to make money. Save yours.
Nandoory — Google review

Not a large site, but given its proximity to Cajamarca, worth the trip out. I recommend going by combi bus which can easily be found at the Plazuela Bolognesi heading for Otuzco. Cost is 1-2 soles and takes about 1/2 hour. Beautiful area and an interesting bit of history. Most tour companies come in the afternoon, so a morning arrival will give you better views with less crowds.

It was built in the 18th century, the façade of the Recoleta Church is sober, carved in stone and highlighted by slender belfries in a triple arch.
Currently, the "San Ramón" School and the "Santa Teresita" Kindergarten and the former "Belén" Women's School operate in this Church.
It is said that, during the Chilean invasion of the city of Cajamarca, the soldiers tried to enter this church to loot it, at that same moment an earthquake occurred.
That earthquake caused the Chileans to flee, saving the religious relics there.

The "Cuarto del Rescate," or Ransom Room, has interesting historical significance and is neatly nestled between the newer buildings of Cajamarca. There is some signage and adequate preservation effort inside, but they could definitely benefit from adding a sign that gives some clearer historical context (there is not even one in Spanish right now, let alone English). Otherwise, for such a low entrance fee that also permits entrance into a few other sites in the surrounding blocks, the Ransom Room is definitely worth checking out for 5-10 minutes.

(Translated by Google) It is a place that is somehow pleasant from the point of view of the architecture of its stairs, its replica monoliths made on the lateral sides of the stairs but unfortunately some people do not take care of it but mistreat it. When you go up to that viewpoint it is great for those who visit it and they should take care of those people who drink in that place because it makes it look bad. Continuing up and finding the chapel is nice, but more care is required, with more cleaning in its space.

Wow! Really impressive collection, particularly the pre-Inka antiquities all of which are registered with the State. It’s really hard to describe how unique and intimate the collection is, so you’ll just have to trust that it is 100% worth your time.

Very interesting place; an incredible private collection of family heirlooms and colonial era antiques. And the owner is on site to show and explain the collection. While it it full of interesting stuff, there is little info to read on the items.

Astonishing private collection of pre-colombian and colonial artefacts (and more) worthy of a great institutuion. Entry only by private appointment.
Hillside remains dating back 3,000 years, with carved monoliths, a museum and mountain views.
It's a very interesting place if you are familiar with or interested in ancient Peruvian civilization. If you are not very interested in history or archaeology it is still a beautiful outdoor site overlooking a deep valley. I'm amazed by the ancient Peruvians and find their styles mysterious, and Kuntur Wasi and museum were another piece of the puzzle.

(Translated by Google) It is one of the least exploited archaeological sites in Cajamarca. If you come, from the coast, turn left on the Chilete bridge and head towards San Pablo, it is a good plan to combine this route with a visit to Granja Porcón.
The site is in a good state of conservation and with the minimum essential information, however I believe that the enhancement has yet to be implemented.
The walk does not require much effort, my parents (60-70 years old) had no problems doing the route.
