If you’re going on a road trip from Santo Antonio do Pinhal to Pocos de Caldas, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with Campos Do Jordao and Monte Verde, as well as top places to visit like Buriti Shopping Guará and Mananciais de Campos do Jordão State Park, or the ever-popular Basílica Histórica de Nossa Senhora Aparecida.

The top cities between Santo Antonio do Pinhal and Pocos de Caldas are Campos Do Jordao and Monte Verde. Campos Do Jordao is the most popular city on the route. It's less than an hour from Santo Antonio do Pinhal and 4 hours from Pocos de Caldas.
Campos do Jordão, located in Brazil's Mantiqueira Mountains and part of São Paulo state, is known for its Swiss-style architecture. The city is home to Parque Estadual de Campos do Jordão, a vast park covering a third of the municipality with pine forests and mountains that provide habitats for various bird species and endangered animals like pumas and ocelots. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the milder weather during the off-season when the city is less crowded.

Monte Verde is a beloved destination for many, including myself, who has visited seven times in as many years. This charming place offers a variety of activities and attractions that cater to different interests. One of the main draws is its gastronomy, making it an increasingly popular choice for couples seeking a romantic getaway. However, the natural beauty, climate, and hospitality also contribute to its appeal. When planning a trip to Monte Verde, one common question that arises is where to dine.

Best stops along Santo Antonio do Pinhal to Pocos de Caldas drive
The top stops along the way from Santo Antonio do Pinhal to Pocos de Caldas (with short detours) are Amantikir Park, Trilha da Pedra Redonda, and Morro do Elefante. Other popular stops include Recanto Japonês, Ducha de Prata, and Basílica Histórica de Nossa Senhora Aparecida.
The Basílica Histórica de Nossa Senhora Aparecida is a welcoming place for pets, as visitors are surprised by how well-behaved they are. It's possible to attend mass with your furry friends without any issues. When visiting, it's recommended to sit closer to the door and in the back rows to manage any barking. The architecture of the basilica is stunning, although some visitors were unable to enter due to closure.
Unfortunately I couldn't get inside cos it was close but it's beautiful architecture

No hay que comprar entradas. Es una bellisima iglesia antigua. Mucha sensación de paz sentí allí..Se llega a ella por la Pasarela de la Fe.. The parish priest tried to prevent a large flock of faithful to pray the Holy Rosary in front of the church. This had been announced days in advance. Instead he purposely rang all of the church bells, to make so much noise that nobody could understand a word - it was a wonderful experience to pray the Holy Rosary under such circumstance, against the orders of the pastor!
*Shame on this parish pastor!*

Praça Nossa Sra. Aparecida, Aparecida - SP, 12570-000, Brazil
Mall with a typical range of specialty stores, a supermarket, a movie theater & a food court.
Hello from Guará.Great mall. It´s a pitty lasted an eternal to be built. We waited twenty years and now worthed.Has many stores and air-conditioning not known in our town.We had much nothing to do around here, but this mall fed us ,teens and kids also. There are movies,fast-food,mc donald´s and many stores like a hair cut for male and female,a very nice saloon,as I seen it,the best in the region. There is a wine shop, fine, elegant kept normal the bottles and fast way to SP,maybe you need more or just his friend and apreciator. There is a quiosque that you can take delicious brahma chopp,it certainly tastes different then the big bottles at the bars out there. There is a book store also, unless you are very cultured and from SP or RJ,I guess the new and expensive book store in the mall is more than enough.I think they also sell school books and material because our city still small.
I remember electronics store, many clothes stores, there is one huge clothe store, just like SP and always Lojas Americanas huge with the biggest store in the mall.
I guess there is a lan house with video games store also, right by Mc Donald´s and there is a park with flipers,video-games,toys,rides and the expensive rides and fares we are used to see here in Brazil.
Upper floor there is the garage, closed and down the ramp is a huge parking lot external. In the upper floor I have seen dogs contest and exposition and also a rink for the kids.
Bom passeio!

Mananciais de Campos do Jordão State Park
State park
Nature & Parks
Outdoor recreation park offering zip lining, canopy walks & bike rentals in a forest locale.
Fabulous park, so much to see and do, some easy walks, pedalling swan-shaped boats, stunning nature, playgrounds and cafes and a fabulous restaurant (Dona Chica) which is award-winning and yet cheaper than the Capivari places. Signage is exclusively in Portuguese (which is a shame) but it's easy to find your way around. Kids love to run around and explore, don't expect European safety standards in the playgrounds (as usual in Brazil) but they're good fun.

A nice park to walk around. There are several short hikes. We really enjoyed Trilha dos campos (3km), which takes you up to good views and also winds along the river for a stretch. The trail to the waterfall was much more crowded and more of a road than a trail. Overall, the park itself was very crowded excepting Trilha dos Campos. It is possible to access by bus or uber and you do have to pay to enter.

Beautiful place, very well conserved with detailed maintainance.
The park is an environmental reserve.
Activities: there are trails with different kinds of difficulty and length.
There are food trucks during the peak of the season, however there are two places that serves food all year.
There are activities for children too and playgrounds.
There is bike rent and a shop with handcrafted materials made of wood.

Such a beautiful place with kind-hearted staff! I’m not a local and didn’t know that they only accept cash and Pix, and since my card was international they couldn’t accept it. The girl selling tickets let me in for free and covered my parking as well. Such a simple yet kind act, it was genuinely the highlight of my day! This park was absolutely beautiful and worth the 40 Reis entrance fee. The gardens were all well-maintained. The views of the surrounding valleys were spectacular. It's an easy stroll through the park, and there's even a maze to navigate through. There are various plants to see and coy fish in the ponds. And there's a tree house you can visit. You only need 1-2 hours total to see everything. The employees were nice, but it may be difficult to find someone that speaks English.

A tourist attraction in Sao Jose dos Campos called Ducha de Prata is a beautiful waterfall and shower that can be accessed by wooden decks. There are nearby stalls selling souvenirs. The water was pretty and interesting, but there were no actual trails to hike to get away from the crowds. It was pretty busy when we were there, so it may not be the best choice if you want to visit on your own.
It’s a very beautiful place and there are shops you can shop souvenirs from. The only issue is the issue of getting a ticket to enter the main areas there but you can still view for free from the first stairs and also take pictures. We didn’t stay for long because we went there by the sight seeing train from the capivari.

Beautiful scenery. Definitely worth a look if you are in the area. If you see the waterfalls, keep going down the path until the end. There are some hidden waterfalls underneath where most people stop. The shops and tourist attractions are fun. Very down to earth location. Most of the shops close early so plan accordingly. Come by car because the roads are narrow and the cars speed.

The most popular tourist attractions in Campos do Jordao are very close to the city center. There is the 'Teleferico', the first built in Brazil and one of the iconic photos of Capivari. When taking a ride on one of the pedal boats, you reach the top of the mountain in just five minutes, where you will be treated to an amazing view of all of the area, surrounded by steep hills.
Lovers or with children or just you nice to experience the cold weather in this part of Brazil

Morro do Elefante is a mountain top spot with amazing city and mountain views. It can be accessed by car or cable car, but the latter option is payable. The view from up there is definitely worth it!
Overlooking Campos do jordoan, beautiful European style town right in brazil. You can take a "ski lift" type ride up or down to the overlook. Beautiful view in a place that could get potential to be better.
We climbed to the elephant's hill using the scared cable car, I believe its was created with the city and never modernized.
My husband, who is Canadian, liked the experience more than I did. He was scared but he found excited at the same time. I think that because I have already been to Campos do Jordão several times, I think at this point the city, which seems to be very rich looking at the hotels in the area and people who frequent it, should have already renovated that a long time ago and have made something much better and more attractive, as the other countries that have mountains for Ski. I think don’t need to be exactly the same, but Mount Tremblant in Quebec also has a small area up hill and its not so fancy, but little more attractive and safe.
Anyway, the view is very beautiful and we can see the whole city, mountains and part of the other surrounding regions. When we get up there again, the attractions could be much more elaborate and modernized giving opportunity to locals to get better jobs, show a nicer view and give to the city, locals and visitors a better structure. I think the place with elephants is a good idea, especially for children, but they could modernize it and charge a little for the entrance to maintain the place. They also could make a kind of a little mall where people could expose their crafts making their products more attractive and a nice cafe or restaurant with a lookout ... Anyway, use a little of the American style of exposing your business, which could be better for everybody. If I had money to invest, that unfortunately is not the case at the moment, I would probably organize people and get that changed for the benefit of all city and visitors.
Grade: Eli = 3, Serge = 3
Recommend: It’s worth for the Mountain View.

I found it strange to be completely empty on a Saturday afternoon.
I soon discovered the reason: the food took 1 hour and was terrible!
Grilled filet mignon steak, trout in white sauce au gratin was not browned and came loaded with nutmeg where the flavor of the trout was completely canceled out by the exaggeration of the seasoning. I couldn't eat it!
Result: I paid a lot and went home angry and hungry, feeling disrespected!

Local lindo, estilo alemão, convidativo!
Estranhei estar completamente vazio num sabado a tarde.
Logo descobri o motivo: comida demorou 1hora e estava péssima!

The Boa Vista Palace is a historical museum that showcases objects and art from different periods. The building was originally built as a summer residence but has since become an important museum with works by Tarsila do Amaral, Anita Malfatti and Di Cavalcanti in its collection. Upon entering the place, with free parking right next door, you hear light and soft Gregorian-style music playing in a low but audible tone, which invites the faithful to focus on their prayers! What draws the attention of the different Catholic churches is that their external aspects are different from each other, however, the interior follows the standard of respect and invitation to prayer! Rest assured that you will be able to visit and receive a welcome from our Lord!

(Translated by Google) Pico da Pedra Partida is the second highest in the Monte Verde region and has a beautiful view of much of the Paraíba Valley.
The access trail has indicative signs and red ribbons on some trees along the way, especially in places that may raise questions.
It took us 1 hour to climb the approximately 900m to the top. And on the way back we only spent 40 minutes.
At the top there is a sign indicating the altitude and name, great for photos.
The downside is restricted access by MOVE, which charges R$35.90/person. This amount could very well be used for a "single pass" with access to the 5 peaks in the region. This would both attract more tourists and capture the resources necessary for improvements and conservation of the site.

Trilha da Pedra Redonda is a relatively easy hiking trail that starts at the end of Av. das Montanhas or can be reached from the Plato trail. It takes about an hour to complete and offers a tranquil experience through lush greenery. The trail leads to a 1990m rounded peak, providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Hikers are advised to wear comfortable clothes and sneakers, bring water, and apply sunscreen due to windy conditions on the rocks and intense sun exposure.

Very few shops around, most of them are closed. Good choice for snacks and food but no coffee shops. Some bars around but nothing to enjoy a good coffee or tea. Location is not good and probably this is the reason the place is not very popular with locals. Not easy reachable by foot for tourists without own transportation. The mall was building far away from city center and main high street to keep shoppers on foot away, well they managed to keep most shoppers away, I can say the development was a disaster for choosing a poor location.

Great family outing, from horseback riding to buggy carts, cable slides, mini farmhouse & hands on along with a fishing pond for kids and more. Good country food eat all you can. Thumbs up

We spent a day here Christmas Eve 2018, and had a great time. Five of us did a combination of horseback riding (both short and long rides), four wheeler expeditions up the mountains, zip lining on both short and long lines (the longest one goes from the top of Morro Pelado back down to the main site, about a 1.1km run), and had an awesome buffet lunch. We could have done more, but ran out of time (they closed early, at 4PM on Christmas Eve, which is only to be expected!). Next time we'll stay at their new hotel and have a couple of days to take it in. I'd recommend this without reservation to just about anyone, but especially to families with kids who are adventurous.

I have spent 3 nights at one of the family chalets. Loved the homemade food at breakfast and dinner time.
Unfortunately, the weather was not the best and, we only got a chance to take photos of the infinity pool they have on the very last day.
Outdoor activities were also a great call. My family and I went on an adventurous ride in a buggy (aka gaiola) to the highest point of the city where we could see both the cities of Monte Sião and Águas de Lindóia. My husband rode a horse and did airsoft gun shot practice. We had a blast doing archery and arvorismo as well.
Guest tip: Get a 30% off on the activities price when staying at the hotel/chalet (valid on October 2021).

A rural property that helds a nice tourism complexo. There is a mix of countryside activities (animal feeding, fishing and horseback riding) and adventure activities (zipline, paintball and ATV). It is a good opportunity to have lot of fun surrounded by Nature. There are no entrance fee and parking is free. Kids (and grown ups) love it!

I do not know the rooms because I did not stay in the hotel, I only used the local attractions such as tree climbing, ziplining, horse riding, jeep, quad biking, snack bar. The attractions are perfect for kids and adults, with good team of monitors. I always go when I am in the area.

We recommend visiting the restaurant at Casa Geraldo after taking the vineyard tour and wine tasting. This place is a nice destination for casual travel, offering interesting wine facilities open to visitors. The staff is friendly and the restaurant provides good food at honest prices. The winery itself is highly regarded, known for its excellent wine selection that offers a variety of different types. Overall, Casa Geraldo is a great place to experience and enjoy quality wines in a respectful environment.
We had such a wonderful time with the most amazing tour guide. He was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, as well as, a great photographer. Thanks Uiri! The vineyard is beautiful and the restaurant has delicious food.

Lovely winery. We reserved a visit with an English speaker and it was great. We got to taste their coffee along with a Syrah. So great to see their dog as it reminded us of our dogs back home!

What a stunning and beautiful surprise!
The vineyard is beautiful and extremely well maintained with a lot of attention to detail.
Staff was friendly and helpful, but a little slow for my taste.
Great wines and the tábua mista was excellent.

(Translated by Google) We spent wonderful hours at the Guaspari winery. The place is beautiful, thought out in detail, both in relation to the landscaping and the decoration of the closed spaces. The care with the production facilities reveals the seriousness and concern with the quality of the wines that we could see in the tasting, very well conducted by the winemaker Pedro. Besides him, the other employees were all very attentive and friendly. These are not affordable wines - the cheapest ones cost around R$ 128 (November/2021). But considering that the quality brings them closer to good French and Italian wines and that part of the production depends on imported inputs, I think the cost-benefit ratio is adequate.

Pico do Gavião is an incredible destination with stunning natural beauty, perfect for camping and observing the sunrise. It offers a variety of activities, allowing visitors to meet diverse people from across Brazil and beyond. This amazing place is worth returning to repeatedly, as it boasts exciting attractions for both adventure seekers and those seeking tranquility. Additionally, it hosts events like blues festivals.
The best Take-off I have ever been. There is a small restaurant, where you can buy food and beverages, a small shop with t-shirt and other stuff.
There are toilets and drinkable water.
It is possible to take-off with different wind directions. All the take-offs are spacious.

Fonte dos Amores is a picturesque tourist attraction that features a serene waterfall and rocky pools, surrounded by stunning natural scenery. The site also boasts an impressive sculpture created by Italian artist Giulio Starace in 1929 depicting two young people embracing. This romantic spot has become increasingly popular for couples looking to capture special moments together. Additionally, the park surrounding the fountain is well-maintained and offers a pleasant retreat for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
Nice place to visit 😀

Sad to see the privatization of places that belonged to the city and its citizens. Most attractions at Poços de Caldas are now private and closed at this time. Yes, you heard me... the attractions are closed except for the christ. Once they open again all attractions will be charged... locations that were free for more than 100 years will now be charged.
Needless to say, the Fonte dos Amores was closed. What saved the day were the monkeys who were coming to the gate to greet us. However, because the attraction has been closed, the monkeys have been hungry and tourists have been feeding them all types of foods even M&Ms.. so sad.

This is a very nice city trail by which I mean, your only one block outside a residential neighborhood and into the mata. Once on the trail you're immediately in dense foliage and on a steep, stairs-like climb for the next 500m. The last 100m or so is on open mountain exposed to sun and a view of your target, Christo. My observations, the trail could be more meandering through the jungle to get to the top rather than straight up. And of course, Brazilian style, there's a road for cars to drive to the top so you arrive into a parking lot, cars and the usual trash and noise. Check out the paragliding view on the backside!

The Cristo Redentor monument is a stunning statue of Jesus Christ perched atop an observation tower, which provides visitors with breathtaking panoramic views. The monument offers sweeping vistas of the city and its surroundings, making it a popular tourist destination. However, due to its exposed location, visitors should be prepared for windy conditions when visiting. In addition to the incredible views, the statue itself is also a marvel of engineering and design that requires careful maintenance to keep it in pristine condition.
Very beautiful! Quite windy, give yourself time.
