(Translated by Google) I love the Antares Museum! In addition to the wealth of information, the museum provides incredible experiences. Solar Clock, museum with replicas of meteorites, magic mirrors, information about the fauna and flora of Bahia, replica of the rocket and dinosaurs. A true journey through time! Tuesdays offer sky watching. Not to mention the attention and care of the monitors. The holiday program is always wonderful, the children love it. I only have praise, everything is perfect!

(Translated by Google) Magnificent scientific immersion experience. The museum has a very cool proposal that needs incentives to continue thriving and creating new ways of teaching. It is a reference on the subject and should receive much more attention and promotion.
We loved the entire historical part, the specimens of dinosaurs and Paleolithic animals, some in life size.
It would be interesting to improve publicity to facilitate society's access to the museum. Improve publicity of operations, opening hours, etc.
I hope to return to observation 🤩

(Translated by Google) It was a wonderful trip, João Arthur loved it. The visit was very well organized, from scheduling using the form on the IG profile to screening upon arrival at the Observatory with separation into groups with colored bracelets. The guides were very friendly. Incredible place, from the "walk" in the craters of the Moon (he was scared, lol) to the valley of the dinosaurs, the exhibition of insects and other beings, the rocket, the astronaut and the plasma ball in the neo energy truck ( Too bad I couldn't take a photo of him, I was either holding him to touch her or taking the photo). I liked. I recommend. 😊👏

Gostei. Recomendo. 😊👏

(Translated by Google) A park full of nature and culture. Calm place, good to go with the family. Parking is free for anyone visiting the museum with the poems and history of Castro Alves (it is located inside the park). Entry is free, just sign your name on a checklist. The guide was very attentive, she spoke in detail about the history of Castro Alves and his family. The only downside is the distance. The park is in Cabaceiras do Paraguaçu, BA. It's a never-ending road to see everything in half an hour (the museum). But if you want to have a picnic, the park has tables and is very pleasant. The museum is not open every day, there are specific days. I don't know which days.

A única desvantagem é a distância.

(Translated by Google) From an infrastructure point of view, it is an extremely useful and important essential service for the transport and integration of the Capital and the highways that arrive from the South, Southeast and Center-West of Brazil. Ferry Boats deserve better attention from public authorities, as well as the services provided. Boats that were once extremely modern, today need minimal repairs and care. It is worth mentioning that other states in Brazil do not have boats with this quality and construction, so maintenance would be enough to improve service conditions. Pedestrians and all types of vehicles board practically without restrictions.

(Translated by Google) Terminal without good signage. When you arrive at the entrance you almost don't know that it is a terminal, as what is above is a huge advertisement that looks more like the entrance to a company than the entrance to the terminal. The service was disorganized and it wasn't full, I can only imagine on weekends and holidays. Filthy bathroom, dirtier than an old gas station on the side of the road. Truly absurd for the price they charge! How can the Government of Bahia not monitor the service of this concession. The rules of the contract are certainly being violated by the concessionaire Internacional Travessias. It is clear that privatization does not improve the service if there is no supervision and monitoring of the contract by the assignee!!!

The Basilica of the Lord of Bonfim is a large, gothic-style church located on a hill in the city of Salvador. The church is known for its Hall of Miracles and its body part replicas, which are popular tourist souvenirs. The church's fame derives from its power to effect miraculous cures, making it a popular shrine.
I really enjoyed busing this place. We did the 3 ties for 3 wishes. It was fun to explore this area a few vendors out front. Would say this Is a good place to visit, parking can be tough to find.
Alyssa Helkowski — Google review
One of the best attraction of the city.
You'll feel a deep spiritual energy and You'll meet a beautiful cultural side of Salvador de Bahia.
Quaint old church, with a beautiful view, much nicer interior than one would guess from the exterior (although exterior is done in rather charming gothic architecture), and a cute story of wishes granted for each of the knots tied with a ribbon at its fence. Make sure not to tie more than three knots, though, and of course - you can't say the wishes out loud. :) When will they come true? When the last of the knots gets undone and the ribbon falls off the fence...
Vanja Cingel — Google review
Though it is not that close of the mainstream of Salvador's sightseeing, the basilic is indeed a must to see place. It has such a huge and potent energy that will make the extra effort worth it. It's not the most luxurious church one can visit, but the relevance of its history to the locals (and the history of religious development in the entire state) is more than necessary if you really want to leave with the mystical taste that Salvador leaves in all of us. There is no fee payment, and as a plus, you can visit the beaches located on the outskirts. Don't forget to attach your Senhor do Bonfim ribbon on the gates of the church - legends say you must choose the color you like the most and tie it in with three knots, one for each wish of yours. The color you pick will represent the orixá that protects you.
Felipe Lopes — Google review
Marvelous setting with beautiful views. Interior is very opulent. Lots of vendors for the ribbons outside.

This was an excellent way to find some respite from the city. There are many meetings and there are many attractions here. The basilica offers an excellent gaze into the past of not only the church but the local customs and city history.

Beautiful church carrying a lot of history. There was service when we arrived and it was crowded but we found seats and could enjoy the amazing interior of the church whilst praying. Be aware about parking and souvenir prices, street vendors try to make money on unadvised tourists.

( I couldn’t get the chance for photography) nice to visit here and see the beautifully historic details inside the igreja (church)

A must see during your visit to Salvador. A beautiful cathedral that captures the heart and soul of one of the oldest cities established in the new world.
It’s local custom to tie ribbons at the gate in front of the church and say a prayer to the Holy Savior of the Bay of all Saints.
Inside the cathedral and deep rooted in the Afro-Brazillian Candomblé traditions and the Catholic Ex-Voto, the afflicted offer wax casts in body parts to Saints as thanks or hope of healing them.

The Mercado Modelo is a popular market in Salvador, Bahia, known for its wide range of shops selling various arts, crafts, and souvenirs. With over 250 shops to explore, visitors can find unique items that showcase the local traditions and culture. Alongside the shopping experience, the market also offers an array of restaurants where one can indulge in traditional Bahian cuisine.
Great place to shop great prices, beautiful clothes, shirts, dresses really colorful swimware and many local produced liquor and food items. The food in the upstairs restaurant cruise ship side of the building was amazing, the shrimp, steak and very reasonable. I highly recommend the original beer. Cold tasty and a lot of beer, I got 4 glasses out of mine

A marketplace which has 2 floors full of Vendors who sell various things.
⭐ You can find a lot of interesting souvenirs. Definitely for tourists.
⭐ The variety of souvenirs is very grand. You will definitely be able to find something you like— if you're not overwhelmed by the choices.
⭐ Nice vendors and easy to navigate. At the top floor there is an ATM if you need cash.
⭐ If you're hungry, there are spots to eat and drink as well.
Most of the stalls only take Pix or cash! So you will need to get some from the ATM. Items here are a bit more pricey. I would recommend going to the upper city to shop for more souvenirs if you only have a card on you! But it is worth a visit.

It's a souvenir market more than anything. It doesn't feel real. Just nice if you are looking for souvenirs to bring home.

If you want to buy your souvenirs and gifts all together in a single place, then this is probably as good an option as any. There are plenty of options, enough probably, to suit everyone. The first floor also offers some good options if you want something to eat or drink. Restaurant Maria de São Pedro was our choice and we were pleasantly surprised. Recommended.

Massive market full of unique items and food from around Brazil and beyond.
A must see for anyone visiting Salvador and looking for a gift or memorable souvenir to bring home to remember forever.
There are a number of restaurants and other food vendors. The market is also close to other top local tourists attractions.

It ia currently under renovation work. There are quite a few booths that were missing. It is highly recommended to buy many of the excellent chocolate produced in Bahia. They are of an excellent high quality and have many wonderful varieties. The booth in the picture is great place to buy these chocolates.

The art exhibition under the Mercato Modelo is really interesting.
Beautiful union with glass, water and lights. Free entrance

I enjoyed my shopping experience there. It's the only place among the few that I visited, that I found some people speaking English.
They also have an ATM on the second floor, very safe if you'd like to withdraw Reais and shop around Salvador.
There's an open market near the Salvador sign where you can braid your hair too.
Whitney Kihara — Google review
This is indeed one of the greatest and most know trademarks for anyone visiting Salvador for the first time. Currently, the market is passing by a renovation so its split in two different sections. But both have basically the same kind of products available. At first, I've thought this would be similar to São Paulo's Municipal Market; however, here you will find just two or three options of restaurants with most of the other places taken by souvenirs stores. It can be a great place if you're looking for this type of store but be attentive of the prices - you can similar items for huge price variance. Tip: things here are cheaper than most of the stores of Pelourinho. Extra tip: though the market itself may not be what you're expecting take the opportunity to visit the marine located a few steps of it. The view is stunning and a good place for nice photos.

Under construction, they are going a renewing, providing more accessibility with new ramps and elevators. Good traditional Bahian food at the local restaurant located in the 2nd floor

The market has all kinds of souvenirs that are typical for Bahia. It's full of tourists and easy to reach from other sights. I was harassed by a bum though outside of the market, so take care. No need to go there twice.

Parque Municipal Klaus Peters is the first Conservation Unit of Integral Protection in Mata de Sao Joao and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Outpost. Covering around 300 hectares, it provides a sanctuary for endangered flora and fauna. The park features a well-maintained 3.6km interlocked trail, perfect for walking, running, or simply immersing in nature's beauty. Visitors can enjoy the lovely ecosystem with opportunities to spot local wildlife along the way.
Great route for walking, running or cycling. Lovely path through the ecosystem, and if you're lucky you'll glimpse some local fauna. Good signs and well maintained paths and bridges.

Av. do Farol, 53 - Açu da Torre, Mata de São João - BA, 48280-000, Brazil
The Elevador Lacerda in Salvador, Brazil is a historic art deco elevator that offers stunning panoramic views. It connects the upper and lower parts of the city, providing a convenient transportation option for visitors. This iconic landmark has been restored to its original beauty and attracts tourists from around the world. The elevator consists of four separate elevators and can transport passengers 72 meters in less than 30 seconds.
Beautiful elevator with stunning views of the city. At just 15 cents, it is a very affordable way to get to the old city. The observation deck at the top gives you some of the best views in Salavador. It's also closely located to Mercado Modelo, which is convenient. With that said, make sure you don't have any flashy jewlery on you when you go up so you can stay safe.
Pedram Esm — Google review
It cost 0.15 to get up, and 0.15 to get down. Great that's affordable for EVERYONE!
It's just an amazing view from here.
Dayana Alonso — Google review
The view from the top level is truly impressive. You can admire the coastline, the lower town, and the elevator itself. Don't forget to check out the view from both sides of the entrance! The view from sea level is also amazing.

A tourist attraction with a lot of history.
⭐ The elevator is very fast and takes you to the upper city in a few seconds
⭐ We did not pay an entrance fee and did not have to wait in a queue
⭐ Nothing else to say or to do. Very straightforward. It is an elevator after all. But fun nonetheless!
Also, prices for souvenirs in the upper city are cheaper than at Mercado Modelo!
B. Jisoon n — Google review
It's very cheap at only R$0.15, and conveniently located. It facilitates a 10 minute walk from the ferry to Pelourinho or from Pelourinho to the market. There may be a bit of a line depending on the time of day that you visit. Can also get a bit hot during the day. There are stunning views from the top, a very popular photo op spot, as well as a famous ice cream shop help you beat the heat. Can't miss it on a visit to Salvador and I definitely recommend taking it at least once.

A very traditional landmark of the city, this elevator is known as the first public elevator on the entire Amreica. It connects the up and down part of the town (where the Modelo Market is located). The fee to use is very unexpensive - only BRL 0.15 cents. It's also a good place to enjoy the breathtaking view of the All Saints Bay. Unfortunately, the surroundings are not as safe as expected, but note that this is very common for historical cities in Brazil. I do recommend you to be accompanied by a local to avoid unsafe areas and to avoid the local vendors who can be very insisting. As always, enjoy it during the daytime. The elevator doesn't offer a panoramic view (it was not built with this intention), but it has a glass corridor that can be the place for nice pictures.
Felipe Bezerra Lopes — Google review
This place fully recommends having lots of histories and beautiful arquitetura.
Patrick Tharatpol Duangsunitkool — Google review
It's a small pastry and ice cream shop situated right next to the elevator. I have to admit that the ice creams are delicious, generously served, and really cheap. You may choose to get them in a cone or a cup. The 'Pave' flavor is amazing! Pave is a Brazilian cake-like dessert.
Arkadiusz Jędrzejewski — Google review
The history behind the construction is interesting, however it’s not a great place to go. Going up and down costs R$0,15 per visitor and the elevator is too crowded, hot as hell and smells sweat. Great view up there though.

Praça Tomé de Souza, S/N - Centro, Salvador - BA, 40020-000, Brazil
Pelourinho is a historic district in Salvador that features picturesque cobblestone streets, Afro-Bahian souvenir shops, and lively squares filled with musicians and dancers. This area contains colonial landmarks such as Igreja e Convento de São Francisco and Catedral Basílica de Salvador featuring intricate gold-plated carvings and Portuguese tiles. The Pelourinho is also home to the Casa do Carnaval which showcases multimedia exhibits of street parties with costumed mannequins.
The Igreja e Convento de Sao Francisco is a remarkable 18th-century Catholic church and convent located in the historic center of Salvador, Brazil. It is recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Origin in the World due to its elaborate baroque architecture and ornate interior filled with intricate sculptures, tiles, and decorative details.
I found it the best Church in central Salvador. So much history and so much gold leaf on display. Also the intricate carvings are so life like. Outside you have the whole "good and bad" murals in old Portuguese blue tiles. From birth to death, they deliver a true education in daily life. This in a the time when books were a rarity. Here the rich or poor would gaze at the murals and learn what was right or wrong in life. Do spend some time seeing them. English and Portuguese titles. Simple loo provided. Do ask.
Natinho Lima — Google review
It is a baroque church, a masterpiece! The interior is breathtaking! Totally covered by with gold-colored wood, magnificent. While the cloister is completely covered with a cilco of white and blue mosaics that put in drawings of the judgments of Horace. Definitely worth the visit. The cost is 15 Brazilian Real, less than 3 dollars.

Igreja e convento de Sao Francisco De Asis is a highly recommended stop on your next visit to Pelourinho Salvador. It's stunning from the outside and lights up beautifully at night. The real beauty however is seen in the fine detailing and elaborate use of gold on the inside. The cost to enter is only R$5 / US$1( in March 2022 ), a price thats more than worth it. The pictures really don't do it justice. They don't provide tour guides so I would advise visiting as a part of a walking tour of pelourinho, to get details on the history. Definitely add it to your list of must do in salvador.

Something you probably should Not miss, but it shows as well how wealthy the church is and ironically tons of gold in a church dedicated to Franciscus.

this building is so so beautiful. The courtyard is covered in tiles that are donated by the portugese king in 1795 (according to my guide), and the inside is covered in gold. I cant even begin to describe it. There are so many statures and sculptures , its breaktaking. Theres also a cemetery of some sort where some ancient bones lay. I heard it also contains the living quarters for some reverened father. This place was really beautiful and its a must see if you ever are in Salvador

Gorgeous and interesting Church
We stumbled across this during our walk around Pelourinho and what a gem it is. There were flowers laid down the aisle of the chapel so I assume there was soon to be a wedding there and it looked truly stunning.
Walking around to can go into the Throne Room and Crypts followed by other rooms with information and artifacts. Just after the Crypts there was an outside area but we didn't venture out there as it seemed this was the reception area with the same flowers as the Chapel so likely for the wedding but it was gorgeous.

The Itaipava Fonte Nova Arena was originally constructed for the Confederations Cup in 2013 but now serves as the home stadium for Bahia football matches and various concerts. The architecture is stunning, providing a breathtaking view of the field from any vantage point. Prior to matches, visitors can enjoy a lively "happy hour" with live music and an array of food trucks. One drawback is the confusing path from parking to the stadium entrance.

Went to watch Bahia vs Corthians. Good game, but the place was kind of a mess. Not less than I was expecting though, spilled drinks every once in a while, long waits during intermissions. Nothing out of place for a sports arena.
Seats were small but we hardly sat anyway. Everyone just moved towards the edge of the viewing area.
Prices were great, especially compared to the US. It's great that going to a game fits in most people's pockets here, and is a great way to spend a day.

The Porto da Barra Beach is a long, wide beach with calm waters perfect for swimming and sunbathing. It's only a short walk from the Farol da Barra lighthouse, making it an easy destination for visitors to Salvador. With over 600 yards of sand, it's large enough to accommodate even the largest crowds, but also has plenty of secluded spots where you can relax alone.
My favorite beach in the world. However, this year I was so disappointed that everybody was playing music so loudly at the same time. So, if you are looking for enjoy the sun and the ocean and relax, this is not the place to go.

The Bahia Naútico Museum is a noteworthy museum in Forte de Santo Antonio da Barra that showcases exhibits and artifacts from Portugal's seafaring past, as well as exhibits about the slave trade. The museum offers information in both Portuguese and English, making it accessible to a wider audience.
Appealing old lighthouse and interesting maritime museum. No café although there was a sign pointing to it. Also no wifi. (Translated by Google) Disappointing! That is the word that defines my stay. Tip: the peach room does NOT have a view of the River. I changed the date of my trip to stay in this room because theoretically it had a balcony with chairs and a view of the river, imagine my disappointment, in fact the view is of the kiosk and chairs and trees... everything except the river, at most two fingers if you stretch out on the balcony. They delivered the menu from inside the inn, but when we went to order the pizza, they informed us that the oven was being used to prepare the next day's coffee, a detail that was still far from the kitchen's closing time. But the worst was in the morning, I had to leave early because I was going to work. The coffee table was already set, but they were not allowed to drink the coffee as there was still 30 minutes to go, even though the employees explained the situation, they did not allow it and informed them that it was the rule. Another disappointment. So if you have an early flight, work the next day or time, I recommend that you look for a hostel that is more empathetic and flexible with its guests.
I left there extremely dissatisfied.

Decepcionante!

(Translated by Google) Not far from the Capital, east of Salvador, just after Flamengo beach, I came to discover another tropical paradise called Praia de Buraquinho.
Think of a beautiful clean beach, of unique beauty, where the river flows into the sea, full of coconut trees and there is even grass on the beach.
This "Buraquinho" is a beach that you can call "yours", because there is no frenetic movement at all.
I discovered the old woman's hole here in "Buraquinho". I tied myself to this hole...
Think of a hole full of cold beers, fried fish, crabs, shrimp and the like.
The stalls that exist here serve the coldest beers in the region.
Spectacular place to spend holidays.

Me amarrei nesse buraco...

(Translated by Google) This place has a unique beauty, very peaceful, safe and a very familiar environment, as it is in a prime area, security is increased, access to the beaches is only possible by a short walk!
There are almost no street vendors, a few stalls scattered around, but with fair prices. Perfect for those with small children, as natural pools with hot water are created at low tide.
Wonderful.

Maravilhoso.

To get from the center was very frustrating and took me 2.5 hrs to get there.
Do not rely on google maps or moovit in terms of the bus number (many buses have no number) or the bus stop to get on (as many drivers did not stop for me as it was not the right one) or even the route. Ask many people and look for a bus sign that states it is a stop. Many buses don't display numbers, and if they do, the number switches quickly that you may not have the time to see it from far to hail it down!
