In terms of structure, it is different from the rest of the venues, having a circular route and not a room in which the distribution of the museum can be seen. It seems surprising to me that there is little material to show, being this in one of the locations where more finds have been found.

The center itself has interesting things - yes, we have arrived when we still had 1 hour to close and we were already warned that we should not delay ... the girl has enjoyed it but being so isolated and with such difficult access it is not worth the worth repeating.

It has the wow effect when the car passes the hill. Huge castle with a clear military and defensive structure, far from the royalty kind of castles. The Pinares de Rodeno national park showcases a captivating landscape characterized by weathered sandstone formations and ancient pine woodland. One can marvel at the remarkable prehistoric cave paintings, scattered throughout the forest, providing glimpses into the lives of past inhabitants. The awe-inspiring combination of sandstone cliffs and diverse vegetation, including pine, fir, oak, and almond trees, creates a breathtaking panorama that is accessible to all due to its well-paved paths.
Incredible ancient cave paintings perfectly visible in most places that let you get a glance of the people that could have walked through this land thousands of years ago.
Also the pine and fir forest, with some oaks and almond trees, combine with the sandstone makes an incredible landscape worth the view.
Most of the walk is paved so it’s perfect for people with mobility restrictions, kids or baby carriages.

This is a nice little town square that has an area with a nice little lookout over a part of the town and cathedral.
Surprisingly for such a touristic town, there are very few bars, cafes or restaurants on the square. Depending on your viewpoint, this can either be an appealing or unappealing characteristic.

Surprising Location. High in the cleft of mountains this ancient village is very attractive. Narrow streets and quaint buildings. There was a wooden Bull ring being constructed in The Plaza Mayor which though interesting, detracted from this interesting village. Wonderful views once you had achieved the climb into the village itself. Lovely drive there from Teruel, worth visiting.

Albarracín, a charming small town in the hills of east-central Spain, is often hailed as one of the most beautiful villages in the country. The medieval walls, known as Murallas de Albarracín, loom over the picturesque landscape. The town boasts historical landmarks such as the 10th-century Andador Tower and the ruins of a Moorish castle perched on a clifftop.
Casa de la Julianeta is one of the well-preserved old townhouses in Albarracin, offering a glimpse into ancient times. It's an iconic image of the village and a must-see for visitors.

Extraordinary castle, featured in Fane of Thrones as the Tower of Joy. Spectacular panoramic views and it doesn't seem to be very visited by tourists.

There are 2 ways up there, you shouldn’t drive a car with sport chassis ;)
The castle (castillo) isn’t big but the Place and Look are very unique so is the view from the hill to both sides, when you are coming from the east, definitely go over the hill and explore the west!
Sadly the Castle is closed, so -1 Star. :)

The Castle of Zafra (Spanish: Castillo de Zafra) lies in the northeastern corner of the province of Guadalajara in Spain. It is situated in the Caldereros mountain range and the nearest, little village is Campillo de Dueñas, is still some 5 kilometers away.
Built back around the 12th and 13th centuries, the stunning castle has been passed around amongst the Spanish nobility for hundreds of years. The tall towers of the castle sit atop a massive rock located on what was once the border between Christian and Muslim territories. The flat surface atop the rock is crowned with a high defensive wall that makes accessing the castle inconvenient even for those who live lived there.
In 2016, scenes for the sixth season of the popular series Game of Thrones were filmed here. In the third episode, in a long scene of more than five minutes, the castle appears as “The Tower of Joy”.
Getting to the castle is something else. There are only dirt roads leading to the castle and those are in bad condition. So, especially during wet weather, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is advised.
Dinh Tuan — Google review
As a Game of Thrones fan, this castle was a must-visit during our recent road trip. It is accessible by most cars except those with particularly low suspension as the last couple of hundred metres would be quite testing. There is a parking zone with information board and the castle is a further hundred metres or so uphill. It is truly stunning and it's easy to see why it was never taken by force. Under private ownership, access had to be arranged with the owners who have been progressively restoring it. But it's still a stunning place to see from the outside and run up those same steps the young Ned Stark!

Impressive fortress from 12th century. For Game of Thrones fans, Birth place of John Snow.
Martin Ochoa — Google review
I guess Jon Snow had to be born very secretly and this location is very remote. 4x4 driving up a dirt road is the only way to do it comfortably.

(Translated by Google) My review is not about the accommodation since we have not been, but about the guided tour service to the cave paintings. We filled out the form on the website to reserve the Pascuala route and I received the email with “reservation details” as can be seen in the image I attach. We were surprised that they didn't give us a time, but at our hotel they explained to us that visits are usually around 11, so we headed to Villar del Humo to be there at that time. When we arrived we couldn't find the place and we called by phone. To our surprise, the boy told us that there were no routes that day and that they had not received anything. On the website they do not specify schedules or anything other than the type of routes to choose and the booking form. The logical thing is that if, when filling out the form, it lets you select a date and later you receive an email with details of the reservation, it is because it is in operation that day. We made the trip for nothing and also the treatment over the phone did not seem correct to us. He did not give us any solution and did not even apologize for not specifying how his service works on the web. It seemed like everything was our fault. For what it helps, it would be better not to have a website. I wish I could have seen something, we really wanted to visit the cave paintings. a shame

Beautiful, tranquil place to hike and swim (both in the rio and laguna). There’s an old restaurant overlooking the waterfall which is a great way to end the day.
Tip: keeps maps open while entering as signal tends to disappear once your in the park. There’s a lot of rocky ‘wrong turns’ to to take!
Ashlyn Davis — Google review
This park offers great views on canyons and sandstone or limestone cliffs. It is however quite large and not so easy, as it seems to get around: good roads that are navigable by normal cars are scarce and distances between for instance several miradors are simply to large to do it by walking.
Furthermore: there seems to be no accurate hiking maps available (which is common in Spain) and paths are marked/signposted in a confusing, ambiguous or otherwise unclear way. We encountered a "red" path from which 2 other "red" paths branched off, each with it's own code - but that is meaningless when a map with all the codes and trajectories is not available.
In some other places, marking was very poor and sketchy - more for insiders then for tourists that are not familiar with the park. Again, this is common practice in Spain. They seem to have big difficulties with creating or issuing appropriate hiking maps, which you would need to get around in such an extensive area independently by foot.
The information point in Zaorejas was very helpful with English-speaking staff, and pointed out some directions that really helped in getting our way in the park. But: again no good hiking map, the only map available was small and ambiguous without colours or code and too large a scale. No better hiking maps, and also poor marking of trails. We didn't understand it: creating a lot of very well equipped information centers, a proper website and creating publicity but more or less ignoring the core business: how to get around? Where to hike? And providing good maps.
We have hiked in Italy, Austria, Chech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Rumania, Bulgaria and even the Ukrain and everywhere they understand the importance of an accurate, small scale hiking map and proper marking/signposting of trails. Except Spain. It is the core business of parks that aim on outdoor experience and hiking. That is much more important then 3D video experiences of the regional vulture population in the information center.
We therefore wonder whether this and other nature parks in Spain operate on the right priorities.
I want to conclude with a positive note: it IS a beautiful nature parc, with spectacular views and miradors.

There are several routes and some of them are done well because they are circular and of medium difficulty that anyone can do.
There are several parking spaces that are free except in July and August when there is a charge and you have to reserve in advance on the website.
The entrance to the routes are not well marked if you do not know the area or there is someone to guide you where you should enter.

Admission for ages 11 and up costs €8 and children between 5-11 years old cost €5 and includes a helmet and guide. It's a good idea to bring some warm clothing and it doesn't hurt to make a reservation, although they visit every hour. At the entrance there is a cafeteria, bathrooms and a souvenir shop. The duration is 50 minutes. The mine began to be exploited in the 6th century BC. until the Franco era more or less and the minerals that had the most iron were Magnetite with 72% iron and others like Oligisto with 70% iron or limonite with 60-63% among others, a very hard where they spent 20 days working without leaving and 4 days resting, they used children to start new caves and the life expectancy was 20 years. A recommendable environment 👍

The only "downside" is not having the ground a little better conditioned in some areas, slippery and dangerous (even in natural caves they make a path for visitors, in an artificial "cave" they could also... .
In any case, it is a must see and a very pleasant experience one hundred percent recommended.

It is necessary to book the tickets on the web since guided tours are only allowed with 70 people per group. They place a lot of emphasis on punctuality, but the guides are waiting for you at the entrance to the park and you must enter the area where the walking tour begins by car.
Our guide, Irene, phenomenal! She explains everything brilliantly, nicely, she wins over the children,... two hours talking and it has flown by.
In the park there are loose animals that you can see: roe deer, mouflons,... some birds of prey that cannot be reintegrated into their habitat, wild boars,... there is a museum with stuffed animals (it is more than 70 years old) and, after After two hours, you go back to the car and they direct you to the Corner of the Vultures, where we have been lucky and we have been able to see many of the 12 bears that are currently in the park.
All very well preserved. Children learn a lot.
It is definitely worth it. It is a visit that you cannot miss!

The park does not have a great variety of species, but of those that are there, it is always very enjoyable and educational, you learn a lot. A 10 for Irene, our guide, and another for Antonia, our companion for much of the tour. Perhaps a little disappointed with the part about the bears, I expected more of the main attraction of the park, but it turned out to be a visit quite far from the closed area (as is logical), perhaps it would be better if they gave more information about the specimens and that they keep the group with a small number of attendees as in the other tours to facilitate communication. They have an interpretation center and a hunting museum of stuffed species that help understand and complement the information Very attentive to the general public and the needs of children in particular.

Take your time and walk around the Laguna de la Cruz and down to the Laguna del Tejo. Bring water and walking shoes to be able and absorb the beauty of this place instead doing a quick "been there, seen that". Sit at the lakes and imagine the size of the limestone caves that had to collapse in order to create those sinkholes. I think this is among one of the most amazing and weird places on our planet. The drive to get there is also fantastic with breathtaking views.

Tony Hester — Google review
A 20-minute drive from Cuenca through gorgeous mountains, this park comprised of geological formations is excellent for a one-hour hike through well maintained path, or much longer if you are the type that prefers to explore and picnic. For a small fee you enter the park and are given a map that takes you in a long one-way loop where you can spend as much or as little time as you prefer. You are permitted to climb the fomartions and leave the path, so it is really an exciting place for those of us that really like to explore.
There are thousands upon thousands of rock formations, but a handful are considered special because of their resemblance to other things ie: “The Lovers” “The Ships” The Fight Between the Elephant and The Crocodile”. These special formations are highlighted in the paper map given at the ticket booth and also in the signs along the path pointing them out, along with their stories. The formations were carved by water standing on top of the limestone and eating away at the rock through the millennia. At one point on the path you go through a deep gorge, and then emerge at a higher elevation to see a wide expanse of stone field aka the “Stone Sea”, it looks like a vast lava field. This is what the area once looked like prior to the erosion carving the limestone into the formations you now see.
The park has wildlife specific to the area, including a beautiful green plant that only grows from the rock in this region. On a side note, we found out that Conan the Barbarian was filmed here. We visited in the morning in January, and only encountered a few people. I love that we were able to set the pace and explore without being rushed. My only regret is that we didn’t bring a picnic. Ultimately, it is a great place for anyone who can walk an easy path up to 1 mile. There are a few steps here and there, so it might be difficult for someone in a wheelchair, but I think you should be able to work around these with some consultation with the park staff.

The San Pablo Bridge, locally known as Saint Paulo bridge, offers stunning views of Cuenca's old town and the Huécar River gorge below. The steel pedestrian bridge is easy to find and stands high above the gorge, providing a great perspective of the city.
The bridge is a wonderful way to enter the city. The other way is through a spiraling road in the bottom near the underground parking lot.
It’s hard to truly capture the magnitude of the city if you don’t cross the bridge.
Carlos Diaz — Google review
Great bridge with lovely views. Going to the castle via the bridge is easier than climbing all the way up

A must do while in Cuenca! Breathtaking view and history.

This bridge is cutting thought a beautiful panorama and you really are able to enjoy the most beautiful view of Cuenca. It is very high and the bridge seems to move. For who isn't scare of the high I definitely reccomend to come and take some pictures.

Great panoramic views from an elevated position. The railing is a bit low which might make some people a bit anxious of the height.

Average day. Ancient town. If there were more bells and whistles, it might be worth driving back to, but not worth visiting more than once.

A really impressive combination of nature and engineering.

This bridge connects the historic part of Cuenca with the ancient monastery (Nowadays a Parador). Originally, it was made of stone but only parts of the pillars survived. The rest was replaced by metal.
From the bridge you have a stunning view and you can admire the famous Hanging Houses of Cuenca.
Caution: the bridge moves a bit when many people walk on it. People with fear of this might use the street to the Parador instead of walking over the bridge.
The Casas Colgadas (hanging houses) of Cuenca are a centuries-old architectural marvel that rise impossibly high over the gorge of Rio Huecar. The houses, with their layers of wooden balconies and walls built into the rock face, provide spectacular views of both the rivers below and the surrounding landscape. Visiting during any season is a must-do in this beautiful city.
Sure it's a steep climb up the hill but you're certainly more than amply rewarded for your efforts with jaw dropping views over the old houses perched along the cliffs of Cuenca!!

Please don't pass this historic town by, stop and take in a real character of a place. The hanging houses, river walks, suspended bridge, cobbled streets, cafe's, bars, individual artisan shops, cathedrals all make a great trip. We will be going back.

To appreciate the site take a walk along the path below the houses where you can appreciate just how precarious they appear.

A lovely hilltop village to visit perched on top of what looks like a mountain. The views are great. Lovely cathedral to visit in the centre with some quaint little bars and restaurants. There is also contemporary art gallery to visit housed in a church next to a very nice 4* hotel.

A beautiful place to visit and see. Shame the bridge is closed so access to see them close by is currently not possible. Definitely worth the walk up the hill to get a panoramic view of this beautiful town.

Amazing!!! A must see in a life time as impresive is also the bridge where you can see the houses better the town makes you feel like mediaval times if you go in september you get to enjoy also the Fesival of San Mateo the community huge party...so unique lively and incredibly that's hard to described.

Just simply magical! Your must see number one attraction when in Cuenca, Castilla de La Mancha! Declared a UNESCO World Hertitage site since 1996!

Amazing and precarious architecture! Lovely old town to walk. You can get a beautiful view of the hanging houses from the Parador across the way. There is a bridge that will also give you a good vantage point for excellent photos. It is imperative to visit this town in either the spring or the fall as the summer is unbearable and uncomfortable and the winter is just too cold to really tske the time to appreciate the beauty. You can also visit the nearby rock formations if you have a car. Cuenca is easy to get to by car (but parking isn't easy). The bus runs regularly from Madrid.

Nice but long walk up. There are buses but not always clear where to get them.
Be prepared for tourist prices. Otherwise lovely for photos and such.
Nice museums for free too.

One of the most beautiful towns in Spain. The drive to Cuenca (from Zaragoza etc) is something not to be missed. The change in scenery is mesmerising- from flat dry lands to cliffs to tall trees. Cuenca is out of this world - it’s location, the views, the cobble stone streets and some very nice eateries. The hanging houses are the obvious attractions but a walk of the town is time well spent. The drive along with the walk around the town is very underrated but something not to be missed around this part of Spain

Great place for a couple of days, the old town and the hills behind. Town has some great history and the views of the two valleys that sandwich it are fantastic. The National Park to the north west is also well worth a drive and walks if you are of that ilk. Not really a place well known to the Brits but deffo worth a visit and stop overnight, or two, if you can. Great place.

Amazing part of Spain.
Cuenca was recommended to us by a friend of mind.
We stopped by for a couple of days on our way to Madrid and boy, was that a good choice.
The atmosphere, architecture, food. All was great.
Highly recommended

Relatively easy hike uphill but the views are very rewarding. Spectacular views from the mirador. A day trip will suffice, but you can easily find ways to spend more time, preferably appreciating the beautiful scenery.
A modern art museum dedicated to Spanish abstract art from the 1950s and '60s. It is situated in a medieval "hanging house" and features works by artists such as Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dalí.
An absolute must. This is one of the best collections of its kind and is unmissable.

Maybe my favorite museum I’ve been to in a long time. Much bigger than it looks from the outside, amazing curation, and the perfect place to experience the views of Cuenca from!!! 10/10
Marina Carral — Google review
This fascinating modern art museum was founded in 1966 by artist Fernando Zöbel to house his extensive collection. In 1980 he donated it to the March Foundation which has looked after it ever since and made many new acquisitions. It was the first ever museum of its kind in Spain and is housed in the 4 remaining 'Casas Colgadas' (literally the Hung Houses). There were originally eleven.

Free museum in Cuenca, right in the center of Cuenca near the bridge. Love the history of the museum; love reading about the hanging house where the museum itself located. The mural inside the museum dated back to 15th century. It’s interesting seeing abstract art exhibits in the historical building; excellent combination!

Absolutely fantástic small but exquisite museum. Great variety of marvellous Fernando Zóbel works, some Antonio Saura (hilarious "Cocktail Party"!!), more José Guerero and several other artists in a stunning old building overhanging the river valley. Amazing. And all for free!!

My one-day stay in Cuenca included a visit to the Museum of Abstract Art, a place I had been eagerly anticipating. However, my excitement turned into disappointment when the woman at the front desk refused entry, despite my arrival 25 minutes before closing time. The museum’s small size made her denial puzzling.
What saddened me even more was the apparent lack of interest she showed. It seemed she cared little about visitors experiencing the collection and preferred to do as little as possible. This attitude detracted from what should have been an inspiring visit to a place of creativity and passion.

Behind the cathedral a street begins leading to the Casas Colgadas, symbolic monuments in the city, which date from the 15th century.
One of the houses contains the Museum of Spanish Abstract Art, one of the best in Spain. The wooden balconies of the Casas Colgadas hang over the course of the Huécar, but you have to cross the river to get one of the best panoramic views.

FREE Museum. A bit out of the city to go out to Cuenca from Madrid, but made easy on the AVE. It's well worth the day trip!!! An incredible selection of beautiful modernist sculptures housed in a very special building called "Casas Colgadas" because it literally hangs off the cliff. Inspiring place. Beautiful abstract work. Incredible views. You'll find work by spanish greats like Zobel, Oteiza, and Chillida. Very friendly staff. Don't miss the gift shop, it's a great place to get posters of the work for a great price.
The Cuenca Cathedral is a beautiful, historic cathedral located in the city of Cuenca, Spain. The building was originally built in the Romanesque style and has been renovated several times since then. It is now famous for its large stained glass windows and ornate ceilings. Additionally, the cathedral hosts regular concerts and audio tours.
Cuenca Cathedral was a place of gentle silence and beautiful light coming throw it's large colored windows. By paying the entrance fee (1€) you can experience the peace of past centuries under the charming vaults.

Definitely worth a visit while in Cuenca, it's a very pretty cathedral and only cost a euro or two each. The staff were very friendly. We did find on the day we went it was closing at a different time advertised on Google, but we still had a good look round, we did arrive late into Cuenca.

It's an amazing place. Gorgeous! I recommend it to choose as a first place of visiting CUENCA. I think this cathedral is even more interesting than the Main Cathedral in Toledo. Visit the view terrace! It's wonderful. Ticket price is 5 euro.

Beautiful cathedral in this hilltop town. Entrance fee of €5.50. Some nice stained glass. A life size last supper? Worth the climb up the hill especially in the right light. Makes me think gothic kinda like notre dame on a small scale. Marks the centerpiece of the plaza mayor in Cuenca. Come up the river walk, ramp and bridge over by the parador hotel for stunning views.

The cathedral is beautiful but the girl at the entrance who charges the entrance fee (almost 5 euros per person) did not notify that the ticket includes a telephone guide with which you can learn about the works inside the cathedral, when we were more than half way through the tour when we saw that all the people had the telephone guide we asked and they told us that it was included in the ticket. We went to ask for it and commented that it should be given with the entrance ticket at the time of payment, quite politely and the girl was rude and said that we should have asked us which is absurd since we are tourists and we had no idea. The girl is short haired, brown hair.

Having some knowledge of Spanish can be advantageous when visiting the Ciudad Romana de Valeria, as there is limited information available in English. The ruins are expansive and it is recommended to set aside 2 to 3 hours for a thorough exploration. It can get quite warm during the summer months, so opting for an early visit may be wise. This archaeological complex, located in a small town, boasts impressive remnants of a Roman city despite minimal investment in excavations.
Highly recommend if in the area! It's not as big as Segobriga but it's got some cool things I haven't seen anywhere else, even in Italy, like the cliff side homes. Super friendly staff as well and beautiful nature

There is limited information available in English, so knowing some Spanish is helpful. The ruins are quite extensive, so you will want to allow 2 to 3 hours to view it all. We were there in May and it was quite warm. In summer I expect that it could get rather hot, so going earlier in the day may be advisable.

(Translated by Google) Construction carried out between the 18th and 19th centuries by the architects Fernando López and Francisco de Toledo. It was the main entrance to the walled enclosure of the town of Huete, built in the 10th century during the emiral era under the government of al-Mutarrif, and renovated in the 13th and 14th centuries after the Christian conquest of the area. The original door was decorated with the coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchs and the city shield. The first major renovation took place in the 18th century, when the Town Hall building was built. Later, at the end of that same century, the construction of the clock tower began, demolishing the original door and raising the current structure, formed by a semicircular ashlar arch with a groin vault in the central part, and an arch of a canted semicircular point that served as access to the magistrate's house, located in the upper part of the door. The tower is made up of three bodies that mix elements from the end of the Baroque and the beginning of Neoclassicism, preserving the original Gothic bell.

(Translated by Google) The Clock Tower is undoubtedly the most symbolic and famous monument in Huete, both for its central position in the urban area and for its beauty. The Clock Tower was once a structure attached to the old Town Hall, although it is currently located in the Monastery of La Merced.
It was designed in a neoclassical style by the architect Francisco de Toledo and built in 1795. Divided into three sections, it is a beautiful and slender ashlar structure, which has a quadrangular shape on the outside and is rounded on the inside. The tower culminates with a dome with a lantern pierced by four windows.
Located next to the Puerta de Almazán,
And as a continuation of the walls. A beautiful Arch that gives elegance to the City.
On Saturdays there is a Market that is located in the area.
The Almazán gate is (along with that of Daroca and Medina) one of the three preserved gates of the Huete wall enclosure, of the ten that it had in medieval times. Its structure is not original, as it has undergone several repairs and transformations throughout its history, and its current structure is due to the construction of the Clock Tower in the 18th century.
They are located in the main square of the town and close to the Pósito Real.
