If you’re going on a road trip from Yercaud to Mysuru (Mysore), we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Karadiyoor View Point and 1008 Shiva & Rajarajeshwari Temple Salem, or the ever-popular Arulmigu Sri Kottai Mariamman Temple.
The top stops along the way from Yercaud to Mysuru (Mysore) (with short detours) are Mysore Palace, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, and UNESCO Shri Chennakeshava Swamy Temple (Somanathapura). Other popular stops include Shivanasamudra, Hogenakkal Tourism, and Shri Chamundeshwari Temple..
The Sri Kottai Mariamman Koil is a centuries-old Hindu temple in Salem that is dedicated to the rain goddess. It is renowned for hosting the annual Aadi festival in August and is one of the most famous temples in the city. The main temple is currently undergoing renovation, but there is a temporary location on the same premises where visitors can worship a small and adorable statue.

Very old temple is now completely demolished by this tn hr&ce.
This took place on 30.11.15 on the day which the tn HC gave stay order "not to do thirupani in temples" W.P.no 574/2015.
At the same day hr&ce demolished the temple.

400+ years old temple located in main city. Renovated recently. Easy to reach from the old bus stand. The main god of this temple is amman. Initially built during Chera's ruling period. After so many struggles and judicial hearings the temple construction was started in the year of 2015 and after 8 years it got completed. The festival season for this temple is mid of August. The parking facilities can be arranged properly. Overall experience is good.

Koattai Mariamman, the goddess of Salem 🙏🏻
Had Kumbeshikam recently in 2023, got a makeover. Missing the old vibes of the temple, still better since the Karuvarai of main Deity of Amman has been lifted, earlier used to be below ground. Still some works are underway, visit via bus stand side or river side entrance to have lesser havoc. Situated nearby Old Bus Stand. August/Aadi festival is the prime festival and best time to visit the Temple.
A new 20+ feet deity has been added near the river side entrance 😇

One of the iconic temples of Salem. The temple’s reconstruction is now completed and The Godess is now inside her new Garbagraham, which was raised high from the ground level, so that people can have the darshan of the Godess Mariamman easily from long distance even.

Karadiyoor View Point is a scenic location with a covered platform that provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. However, the point is situated at a considerable distance and can be challenging to access by car or bike due to poor road conditions. Visitors must exercise caution while navigating the muddy and sludgy roads leading up to the viewpoint.
Excellent view point but bit far away. Entry was 20/ head. Road just before the point is muddy and full of sludge, should be careful if going by bike.
View point is well maintained with an adjacent park and pathway.
Ibn Abdullah — Google review
Yercaud is full of many view points out of all the Karadiyoor view point is the best in my personal opinion. This is present 12kms away from the Yercaud lake. Not just the view point but the road that takes you to the view point itself is beautiful off road experience and felt like driving into a Bamboo forest (it is tough though) Located in a calm and isolated location it gives a full panoramic view of the valley and the mountains than any other view points in Yercaud. It contains a small park like structure decently maintained with some benches to relax. Unlike the other view points in Yercaud this one doesn't have any food stall are vendor stalls in it (the reason why it is clean and calm). A refreshing location worth the visit. Plan to be in the evening time for a chill climate.
The last 1 km to reach this view point is full of mud roads, rainy condition will certainly make it impossible to pass by so skip it in terms of rain.
Unauthorized local ladies (looks like that) collecting ticket fare from where the mud road begins to enter in to the premises. Not sure whether there is actually entry ticket to this place.
Karthikeyan Chandrasekaran — Google review
Very nice view point but it's difficult to reach by car. Near by road condition not good.
Bike access also lil difficult due to no proper road.
Near by no shops. Need your self bring food and water.

Karadiyur view point was named after the sloth bears which once resided that area. Now there are only monkeys .I would say that this one of the best view points in Yercaud. This has such a scenic beauty, we went there during sunset time and it was so beautiful. The entry fee was Rs.40/- for cars. But the path to this view point was very rough and gravel road, not properly maintained. I request forest department to maintain the roads leading to this view point. The park near this view point was so neat and tidy. Overall this place is apt for clicking pictures with a nature background.
Nandhinee Santhanakrishnan (Captain_nemo) — Google review
Beautiful serene view over here. Reaching is a little difficult road wise. But traveling so much is worth full. A steep down greenery and an awesome place to witness sunset or sunrise.
The connectivity issues are too much, would suggest to download offline maps and use GPS.
Aparna Kundu — Google review
Awesome valley view. The entrance charge was 20/person. It was in karadiyur which is 10+ km from Yercaud. Better if you go by own bike or car. If you're arriving for sunset, i will recommend the view but not the place, it gets too dark and the entrance will be closed.
Better go for the view and return before dusk.
Shwetha Kannan — Google review
Visited here recently. A road from the main Yercaud leads to this place, which is like 3-4kms from the centre. Entry is 20 per head and is collected a KM away from this place and a narrow single road leads to a Parking spot, followed by a park. The park is well maintained and at the corner, there’s a place to go n see the view. The view is really awesome and it’s worth seeing! The park is very small but family can spend some time there. It’s well maintained.
Overall, must visit in Yercaud as it has only few sightseeing spots
Balaji Ravikumar — Google review
Road from the main the road entrance is very worst. Driving 4-wheeler is very difficult. Let the Government try widening and laying quality concrete road. Otherwise everything is memorable to visit the view point.
R Ram Mohan — Google review
The views are awesome and worth visiting. The parking can be a problem as it doesn't have dedicated space for it. Have to leave the vehicles by the side of roads(except 2 wheelers). The walk from road to the view point is almost a kilometer but it's smooth. There is entry charge of 20rs per head.
Akil Kademada — Google review
There is a ticket for entering Rs.20 per person. Though it was good when we visited there road was literally bad and bikers were facing difficulties crossing the road due to rain, you can see it in the video as well.
You must try bread omlet from that tea shop where you will buy the tickets to enter. Trust you will never forget that taste. It was quite unique.

Nice serene view point in Yercaud little off in Loop road
Driving - need vehicle to reach, last 3-4KMs road is bad/not maintained, will be challenging for two wheelers during rainy season.
Facilities- has a shelter and a small neatly maintained garden and benches (can pack lunch and have it here)
Entry - 9 to 6PM (it’s a closed view point) with 20Rs entry fee
Views - are amazing, the mountains and valleys are mesmerizing, in a cool day all the clouds and mist will take your breath away.
One of the unexploited view point with no commercial activities inside and nearby (No coffee/tea and games shops we see in other view points) and no thrash and plastics (a feast to eyes)
Not crowded, and can easily spend 15-20 minutes and return happily 😄
Prem Redeemer — Google review
One of the best view points in Yercaud. The place was not too crowded when we went. It's maintained well, has reasonable good parking space. The accessibility is a challenge, it's a bit far from the centre of Yercaud, and roads are not so good.
Arnab Bhattacharya — Google review
There is no road for the last 1 km path that leads to the view point. It was full of mud and rocks which are not suitable to drive. The Tourism or Forest department should take necessary action to address this issue. Overall the view was good for that altitude, but needed a lot of improvements.
SakthiRaja S — Google review
Not to say the Road is very bad... There is no Road.
They are Collecting Rs.20 per head but no roads....

Good place to go with your friends and spend quality time speaking with each other.
There aren't much to see here except for the view point. But there is a big grass lawn where we can spend as much time as we want.
Entry fees is ₹10 per person.
The route is difficult, and not all cars can handle the steep hilly ways. There aren't much places to park either.

It is a comparatively a lesser known temple but a rare temple where the Ambal sannidhi is placed higher than Lord Shiva's sannidhi. Hilltop Hindu temple featuring a colourful tower & ornate stone carvings, plus panoramic city views.
I have been visiting this temple for years! I used to climb up the hill thru steps with my cousins and was waiting to make the road to the hill. After that hardly been thru waking and traveling up the hill thru a car and missing lot of fun while we used to walk. Another peaceful temple and environment. If you want to have good dharshan, get special ticket and get in. Common queue will move fast and hardly you can see the god statue as its dark inside the room. In common queue be careful while climbing on the platform which is made to see the god. Old people may have hard time! Stay there form sometime to feel the breeze and view from the hill which is so beautiful 😍

I recently visited the Arthanareeswarar Temple and it was thoroughly impressed by the beautiful architecture and peaceful atmosphere of the temple. The main shrine dedicated to Shiva combined with his consort Parvati was a sight to behold, with intricate carvings and stunning details.
I also appreciated the cleanliness and maintenance of the temple grounds, as well as the helpful and friendly staff who were on hand to answer any questions and guide visitors.
In addition to the main shrine, the temple also had several smaller shrines dedicated to various deities, as well as a large pond that added to the serene atmosphere of the place.
Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Arthanareeswarar Temple to anyone looking to experience the rich cultural and spiritual history of the region. It is a truly beautiful and peaceful place that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

On 06.07.2023 morning had dharshan of Lord Arthanareeshwer temple at Tiruchengode. Situated at the top of a hill one of the most beautiful temple having the best sculptures. The fronts mantap roof is having beautiful stone carvings. Ammaiyappar mantap on a tortoise is so nice to see. Those who are interested in architecture a must place to visit. The temple is maintained very neatly. Good approach road is there to reach the temple by vehicles. The temple is on the Namakkal to Erode NH at Tiruchengode very easily accessible. Had a very good experience.
Here Lord Siva shared his body with Parvathi is giving Dhatshan as Arthanareeshwar and the deity is decorated with dhoty and saree with flowers and only face with 50 : 50 of Lord Siva and Parvathi is not visible due to darkness in karuvarai. Aarathi is also not helpful. Lighting problem is there.
Also for Rs 25 dharshan lot of space is allowed and a small space allowed for free dharshan in the back which is violation of court guidelines. This discrimination to be avoided .
Hope people concerned may do something.

I visited the temple with my family this morning around 9 am. The temple on the hill has separate paths for two-wheelers and four-wheelers, making it convenient to reach. The parking facilities are ample, and we had no trouble finding a spot. The temple had a minimal crowd, allowing us to peacefully pray to all the gods. We opted for the special dharisanam, purchasing tickets at a reasonable cost of 25 per person. It's a great place to visit with family, and we felt a positive vibe. Just a heads up, there are monkeys around, so be cautious.

The temple is situated on the hillock which has two modes of reachability - climb 1100 odd steps or drive uphill to the temple. Very serene atmosphere and usually not crowded. If tou decide to climb the steps, start at 5 in the morning which is ideal. You can enjoy the peaceful nature of the surroundings. It's definitely a sight to see the view of the Tiruchengode town lit up during the ascent in the morning. The temple opens by 6 in the morning and you can reach by walk within one hour. Once you have the Darshan don't forget to ask the priest on the history of ardhanarishvara and chengottuvelavan.

Perfect peaceful place in Tiruchengode. This place is considered to be 2000years old. Have your eye's on the temple statues - it will be great and detailed. You'll also get better natural views. Sunday's will receive more visitor here. You could also see cows and monkey's over here. Be cautious with monkey's when you carry any plastic bags. But the maintenance by the temple's management is non-sense. They just dump waste from the temple in the hill land itself. The waste includes plastic wrappers.😠.

About the temple, Sri Arthanāreeswarā temple, also known as Thirukodimāda Chenkundrūr, is an ancient Hindu temple, located in Tiruchengode, in the southern Indian state of tamil nadu. The temple is dedicated to Arthanadheeshwarar, a form of the Hindu deity shiva combined with his consort parvati. Also called as Madhorubagan and Ammaiyappan (mother-father). The famous Chenkottu Velavar Temple, dedicated to Lord murugan, is also situated on the same hill. Also, it is one of the shrines of the 275 paadal pettra sthalam praised in the Thevaram hymns of the Saivite saints. The sacred hill is about 650 ft. high, and a climb of 1156 steps leads worshippers to the temple at its peak. The hill is called 'Nagagiri' in the Thevaram hymns and is also known by many other names like Chemmalai, Panimalai, Nandimalai, Uragaverpu. The hill contains about 350 acres of land, which lies 2000 ft about sea level. Highly recommended to visit in the early morning.

Once we went to the top, I saw that the temple was filled with 𝗔 𝗟𝗢𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗞𝗘𝗬𝗦. Roaming here and there, they were everywhere! Even when we were doing an archanai, the monkeys were looking for food!

This way from bottom to top of the hill is awesome for view and the climate. I suggest you visit early in the morning, so that the view of sunrise will be awesome from the top of the hill.

Lord shiva as Arthanaareeswarar in temple is a sight to behold. Temple is open upto 2pm but try to go before 12 as queue might slow down after 12pm due to Pooja rituals at 1pm.
We took a special ticket to watch the deity from a nearby distance. This temple is special for newly married couples and they are allowed to exchange garlands infront of the deity outside of the sanctum.
The temple and its architecture details were so good and there will be two things to disturb you - one is monkey and the other is management staffs inside the temple. Staffs are always shouting and there is no peace observed while praying eventhough if you have a special entrance ticket. Priority is always given for VIPs and the people they know and the people who work there.
Apart from these its a must visit temple 👍🏻
There are buses plying to the hill temple near the temples’s car shed and you could also drive by your own vehicle with an entry fee of 20.
Alternatively you could climb using the steps but make sure to start earlier to avoid harsh sun. Carry water bottles with you and beware of monkeys.

Saivite temple for Sengottuvelan. Arthanaariswarar is a special attraction to this temple. We could see 7 foot naagar sculpted on the rock inside the temple. Must be 1000+ years old. Looks like Kesavaperumal temple was added later by vijaynagara kings.
Abishegam for arthanaariswarar is done daily around 12 noon ONLY with milk and tender coconut.

One of the must visit place in sankari.
If you are interested in adventure, climbing, and archaeology .
One of the oldest fort in Tamilnadu.
If you want some fun it would be a right place.
Vasanth Raj — Google review
The fort offers a unique blend of historical significance and natural beauty, with a trekking duration ranging from 1 to 1.45 hours. Trekking through the lush jungle surroundings, visitors encounter stunning viewpoints and may even spot monkeys atop the fort. It's advisable to embark on this adventure in the morning, as the trek takes around 3 hours to complete. Safety is paramount, so it's recommended to explore with a group rather than individually or as a COUPLE ⚠️. The fort boasts ancient temples, including the Perumal temple, currently undergoing maintenance by the archaeological department. The trek offers a mix of terrains, including grasslands and ponds, with breathtaking vistas at the summit. It is the death place of DEERAN CHINNAMALAI. However, unpredictable weather requires preparedness for both sun and rain, with sturdy footwear essential for slippery conditions. Despite the challenges, completing the trek is immensely satisfying, offering a thrilling experience amid ancient structures and panoramic views of Sankagiri and its surrounding hills.

Most Beautiful after one reach the Top! One absolute piece of trek and especially a lovely one when it rains.. One cannot predict the change in weather, so it’s advisable to be ready for both the hot Sun and heavy rains. Slippery when it rains, make sure to have a good shoe. You would enjoy the flora and fauna of the place..
One can feel the satisfaction of a complete trek after finishing it🫶🏻

There is nothing significant to see here, other than a big temple (which was closed) at the foot of the hill and an abandoned Sri Anjaneya Temple at the very top. You should visit here only for the trek and to see a few ruins from the old fort wall and moat.

Sri Male Mahadeshwara swamy is incarnation of Shiva. Shiva himself stayed in the temple’s garbhagriha in the form of swayambhu linga.
Sri mahadeshwara swamy is seen riding on tiger, hence the name "huli vahana".
He performed miracles and worked to save the saints and others villagers who lived in the proximity. The unending miracle sagas are sung by the localities in their village folk songs in the Janapada style Kamsale. The seven hills range collectively called as Male Mahadeshwara betta.

A great off-road experience for a driver or a rider. Mostly open in weekends .Opens only after 9am for public entry and closes by 6pm.About 8kms of off-road to reach the view point and temple. Please carry water and do not litter the place. The view from top is beautiful.

Nice place to visit for half day trip.
There is one beautiful old temple of Sri Ranganatha Swami, which built under/ beside of one rock. There is one small kalyani (pond) at the another side of hill top.
There is no proper tar road to the hill top.
The path is full off rocks.
This hill is in between elephent path.
So the traveller has to be careful about elephants/animals.
The place is most suitable to trekkers/off road riders/ drivers. I enjoyed my off road driving in my alto even.. 😍😍🤘
Loved the place.. 😍

Great ride and off-roading experience. If it rains, please think twice as the off-roading will be muddy. We visited on 1st May and you try to be there around 9AM. The gate keeper comes around 9AM. No shops around so have your water bottles with you ready. It’s inside the elephant sanctuary, so do not honk or litter the place. Try to visit with almost caution as you will find elephant dungs all around.

The top provide a beautiful view. Things to know before going.
1. There is a forest check post that closes around 4 pm depending on crowd, rain prediction etc.
2. You have to enter your bike/car details and phone number before moving forward.
3.The last 4 km from the check post is completely off road with a bit difficult terrain to ride.
4. If you are a new rider please don't go.

One of best bike rides experienced this year.. They have a forest fee of 100rs each.. You are allowed to enter after 7am only.. 8km of offroad, elephant dung spotting and fog makes the ride best.. It has a very sceneic places.. There is a hidden place near the fences where u have to wiggle in..

The worst thing is ... They won't leave you inside It's a wonderful one day trip ... But the problem is off Roading ... The road is full of stones u have to be very careful while driving... But nice to do it ...
The temple will not be open ... The forest officer will tell not allowed then will ask for money to leave us ..
You can enjoy the view from the top .. and it's wonderful.. u will feel relaxed ..

A nice off road drive place for bikers. Need to get permission from forest department to enter here. On top of hill few sheds are there to relax, bit they are not well maintained. There is Ranganatha Swamy temple on hill. Better to avoid solo driving to this place, as most of the time no people will be there.

Half day visit near Bangalore, covered in fog and has a scenic view. An off-roading paradise for bikers, cars could reach the top but it's difficult while coming back due to rocks and gravel. Try to reach the place by 7-8 in the morning for the best weather.

Nice places try offroading both bike and car for 5km stretch - moderate level
In top you get stunning views and temple gets constructing now soon i hope they complete
Suggestion - Karnataka tourism, this place has lot of scope to develop tourism create some good infrastructure like viewing deck, parking area etc..
People visit here be conscious because this places comes under Karnataka forest department so , don't create noise pollution, plastic waste disposal because, it will distrub the wildlife
Note : this place close in weekdays so plan your trip on weekend worthy peaceful place

I recently visited Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta on the 25th of December, 2023, and wanted to share my experience for fellow travelers. The place is truly mesmerizing, but there are some important details to keep in mind for a smooth trip.
Firstly, be aware that this area is an active elephant zone, and at the forest checkpoint, the officers diligently record vehicle details. Make sure to cooperate with them for everyone's safety. Better go on partly cloudy day rather than sunny day. The chest point will open at 9AM and close at 3 PM.
Try to reach this location by the 9-10 AM window. There are two routes to the top, and two temples await you there. Take the left turn at the barricades (see attached picture) for the correct route. Unfortunately, the Google Maps pictures are misleading, showing the first location with no people, leading us to take the wrong route.
The road conditions beyond the forest checkpoint are challenging, requiring a vehicle with good ground clearance. Surprisingly, I saw people on scooters, but I recommend a more rugged vehicle for a comfortable journey.
During my visit, a Kannada festival was in full swing, resulting in a large gathering and the presence of senior forest officials. Due to this, the forest officers restricted access to the first route, which was under surveillance by supervisors. I suggest planning your trip on days without local festivals or pujas to avoid such restrictions.
I also learned that during certain times, the forest officers may allow access to the first route for a fee (around 100 rupees). Keep this in mind for future visits.
The view from the second route is not as spectacular, so it's worth making the effort to take the correct path. Bring your own food and water, as there are no facilities at the top. For safety reasons, I recommend traveling in groups rather than alone.
In summary, Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta offers a unique adventure, but careful planning and awareness of local events can significantly enhance your experience. Enjoy your journey, and stay safe!

Absolutely loved staying here. Beautiful location. Serene and calm place. The manager, Asst manager and staff are very helpful. We travelled with a 1 year old and they were very nice to provide soft, spice n salt less food for the baby. The rooms are lovely. Bathrooms as well. Very Clean and neatly maintained. The BBQ every evening by the riverside is amazing! The water sports and the shirt trek are very good too.
Beware of wild boars and monkeys, they roam around the property like stray dogs in Bangalore.
Overall had an amazing time here. Very kid friendly.

Great place for a day's getaway from Bangalore. The whole day is planned for you and you can just sit back and go with the flow amidst the beauty of nature and sounds of the river.. 5 starts for food and ambiance and service! The zip line has been one of the longest I've ever tried making the experience even more thrilling. Confirm the proximity of the dining hall from the room if you have elders who may find it hard to walk all the way for every meal.
Definitely recommend a visit!

We went to this place last weekend, and it was an amazing experience. Initially it felt overpriced but felt worth it after the stay. People are hardworking and welcoming and make your stay very comfortable. Rooms are very well maintained, and the food is pretty good too. We enjoyed all the activities. Since they have limited accommodation, it didn't feel crowded and hence we could do all the activities at our own pace and without having to wait. We want to return after the rainy season when there is more water.

This is a place which is very close to Bangalore, a perfect place for a weekend gateway. The food, staff, rooms, activities everything was mind-blowing. To be very honest we didn't have too much of expectations knowing the fact it's a government camp, but friends our assumptions were totally wrong. This is a fantastic place with great staff. The cleanliness of the rooms is next level. well maintained activities with very courteous staff. We are looking forward to have another holiday here. It's worth the price since everything is inclusive in the package which we took. A must visit place for everybody who is staying in and around Bangalore.

Cost is on the higher side, but so skip few weekend bar hopping and save for this place.
Excellent rooms, good food, great location along the riverside.

One of a beautiful temple surrounded on all sides by blue tinged mountains. The view from hill top is very nice during the sunset times when we went. The Ranganatha swamy is in standing position unlike in sleeping position normally. Two routes are there go by forest route and return by the other since the forest route will close by 6 pm. Unless you leave by 5 pm from temple don’t go by forest route as it takes about an hour to reach the forest department check post.

This temple of lord Rangnath Swamy (or Lord Vishnu) is located at the top of the hill. It takes about 4 to 5 hours from Bangalore and road is awesome while riding through the Mandya district and Cauvery Basin as you won't feel tired while driving. Overall this place is good for one night stay and explore. There are hotels available on the Hill. I loved this place because of descent forest density and reachable from Bangalore. You have to drive few KMs on the top. From here you can take an aerial view of the down town. The architecture and surrounding of the temple is descent. One interesting thing is you can see both, the Sunrise and Sunset from top of this small hill. It is surrounded by the reserved forest area that is visible from the top. We enjoyed beautiful sunset here.

There are monkey gangs trying to snatch fruits and eatables. Other places in the vicinity are K.Gudi wilderness camp jungle safari and Venugopal swamy temple. Nearby hotels for food/snacks/tea are Hotel Mayura Biligiri and Giridarshini.

We trekked to the Vishnu temple from Gorukana resort as part of temple trekking. The trek was of easy intensity, with great view of the valley and mountains and sunset. The only problem, which I believe is a big one, was that plastic trash was strewn all over the place, including the path way.

Very nice temple on the top of the hill. This is near to kollegala, in Mysore district. To reach the temple there are two routes, one is through Chamarajnagar, & one is through kollegala. In both the sides the traveller needs to travel in the reserved Forrest route which is an amazing experience. You will witness some wild animals like elephants, tigers, wild pigs, wild buffalo, deers etc.
Always be careful about the animal while driving.

Barachukki Waterfalls is a stunning attraction located in southern Karnataka that has been generating hydroelectric power since 1902. It is one of the pair of island waterfalls situated in a deep gorge, offering breathtaking views especially during the rainy season. The official visiting hours are from 9am to 5pm and there is a nominal fee for vehicles (10rs for bike). Visitors can enjoy ample parking space and benches while taking in the beauty of the falls.
One of the widest and gorgeous waterfalls in India! The sight of the very wide to very small streams rushing down through the trees and so on is beautiful.
I think August is the best time to enjoy the wilderness of the waterfalls. During August, all major dams open after heavy rainfall.
View points maid by tourism department is ideal to enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls. It ensures safety of every visitor.

My last visit was on the first week of April. Even at that time many waterfalls where active. I would say It'll really beautiful and serene during the monsoon.
They charge Rs 20/- for car entry. Large parking space is available. There is stairs to climb down to the foothill of waterfall. But when we visited it was closed halfway. Rs 5 per person is charged to get down halfway too. Well you get slightly better view from halfway gallery.
Not much activities though but kids will be happy to see so many monkeys there.

Very good place to visit in a day trip from Bengaluru. However, in 2023 rainfall is less. Hence the water falls have narrowed. That's not so good to see. Road towards the falls are not maintained well. It doesn't feel that we are on the way to visiting such a famous place. Some people stand in the way and take some money in the name of entry, parking, etc. But there is no such development, facility, infrastructure visible around. I believe that these are authentic persons tasked to maintain the tourist spot. Rest rooms don't exist or not easily identifiable. Needs a big infra development.

One of the beautiful waterfalls in southern Karnataka. The view here is amazing! Perfect time to visit is during the monsoon/rainy season. The official timings are from 9am to 5pm, so if you reach here early, you'll have to wait outside the main gate. Better to reach here before 10am as it'll get crowded. There's a small entry fee for vehicles (10rs for bike). There is ample parking space. There are also benches available where you can sit and enjoy the view. As of now (November) they won't allow you to go to the bottom, but you can pay 5rs ticket and go till the 2nd bottom point. This is just 3hrs journey from Bangalore, perfect for a 1 day weekend trip.

This is the best place I’ve ever visited! It was mesmerising, the view and the calm that you receive is not explainable.
It is located far and the road that leads to this place is also not very smooth, so expect some jerking.
There are monkeys, so be careful about your stuff. For food and drinks, ample options are available to fill you up.
For taking a closer look at the falls, ticket is to be purchased for 50/ person.

Unbelievable experience due to mesmerizing scenic beauty of this place.
This falls is one part of the famous Shivanasamudra. If you are traveling from Bangalore then you will be visiting first Gaganachukki view point. From there this Barachukki view point is around 14 km.
This place gets closed at 5 PM. You need to pay 20 Rs for 4 wheeler car and 5 Rs each for every person entering the falls area. Not much option of having food here. You will get small stalls of coconut water, yummy Sugarcane juice etc. So plan accordingly.
View while traveling from Gaganachukki view point to Barachukki view point is also mesmerizing.
Overall nice place to enjoy your day out. Few food restaurants (very limited) you will get while coming to this spot. Not sure about the quality.

There is a forest entry fee you need to pay at entrance of forest.

Start early, so that you reach the place 'gaganachukki' . You can spend sometime there watching lush greenery and fill your eyes with Milky colour of water falling from mountains. You can smell the aroma of water flow.
From there, around 12km drive where you see the 'shivana samundra' check dam. no water activities are allowed but swimming with own risk.. the water flow is very high during mansoon reason, till oct.
Drive another 1.5km from here , actually you see the gaganachukki back sight see, from Durga side
Drive another 2.5km from there and you reach the 'barachukki'.
This is even marvelous.
So, you should visit all the 3 places to complete the shivana samudra a day trip.
You can visit hydro power plant if your are interested.

I'll never travel to Mysuru (Mysore) without this trip planner again
Peaceful and blissful. Even though the temple is small, it is better to spend more time inside the temple. Sit and relax. We went in the evening, less crowded so we enjoyed the peace. Better avoid crowded occasions like special days and all. Channapatna is the town of toys. Don't buy near the temple there are you shops as soon as we enter the town check the toy price in different shops and buy. Good place within 2 hours range from Bangalore
Sathish Kumar Subramanian — Google review
This is an ancient (15th century AD) Hindu temple situated on Bangalore - Mysore highway NH 275, 65 kms southwest of Bangalore, and just 2 kms past Channapatna the toy-town. The main deity is Vishnu having name as Ramaprameya, a beautiful idol, very pleasing to the eyes. Even more beautiful is that of Lakshmi, known here as Aravindavalli - very cute and mesmerising to have darshan.
But the biggest attraction here is the sanctum dedicated to baby Krishna, known here as Navaneetha Krishna - a mesmerising idol of baby Krishna in a crawling posture, with his long locks braided neatly in a pigtail flowing over his body, and carrying a grab of butter in one hand. Must visit.

Visiting the Aprameya Temple in Doddamallur was an absolutely divine experience. This ancient temple, steeped in history, is a serene sanctuary dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and it emanates a deep sense of peace and spirituality.
One of the most striking features of this temple is its exquisite architecture. The temple showcases the classic Dravidian style with intricate carvings and beautifully crafted pillars. The sanctum sanctorum, where the deity resides, is particularly awe-inspiring. The idol of Lord Vishnu, depicted in a unique crawling form of Krishna known as Ambegal Krishna, is both endearing and spiritually uplifting.
The temple's ambiance is serene and inviting, making it an ideal place for meditation and prayer. The priests and the temple staff are welcoming and possess a wealth of knowledge about the temple's history and rituals, which they are happy to share with visitors.
Another fascinating aspect of the Aprameya Temple is its historical significance. The temple is believed to date back several centuries and has been mentioned in various ancient texts. Its walls and surroundings whisper tales of the past, making it not just a spiritual retreat but also a journey through time.
The temple premises are well-maintained, offering a clean and tranquil environment for devotees and tourists alike. Whether you're a spiritual seeker, a history buff, or simply in search of a peaceful experience, the Aprameya Temple is a must-visit. It's a hidden gem that offers a glimpse into the divine and the ancient heritage of India.

beautiful temple with lots of historical significance.
this temple is huge and it is unique to one and only Krishna idol in baby form all around India.
many people come here specifically to see this unique Krishna idol as toddler.
prasadam is served in the form of lunch during weekends and festive days.
I must say temple prasadam was very tasty 😋
lunch timing starts at 12pm or 12.30pm and goes till 1pm.
paid parking available around the temple and its very limited.
temple is just 50 mtrs from Nh275((Bangalore - Mysore highway).

One of the 108 Divya deshams. Beautiful ancient temple. It houses Aprameya Swami, Aravindavalli and Navaneetha Krishnan. The Krishna has taken crawling position (the locals call it Ambegal ) . People pray here for child birth.
This temple also has Sri Ramanujacharya, Koorathazhvar and Sri Lokamacharya.
Plenty of parking space for cars. They collect Rs.10/- and there are few shops for buying Chanapatna wooden toys. A small eatery is also there. We are Heerekai Bajji which tasted yum. 😋
It takes 40 mins from Mysuru Expressway starting point. (Approx).

This is a very beautiful and ancient temple. Sri Aprameya swamy is the main deity. Ambegaalu Krishna, Lakshmi, Sridevi Bhudevi sametha Narayana are also worshipped within the temple. The premises are clean and well maintained.
Main entrance of the temple is so captivating due to the intricate architecture and the bougainvillea flowers.
There is a Anjaneya Swamy temple outside Aprameya swamy temple. Please do visit. There are a few shops outside the temple where you can buy toys and small idols of Lord Krishna.
There's ample amount of parking space and they 20 rupees for car parking.

A serene calm and soothing temple.. Very close to the Bangalore Mysore Road... An ancient charm should be savoured before its lost to the infra development

It was my unplanned location. This is near to Mysore express Highway. If you are coming from Bangalore, you can take the new bridge as there is exit at ChannaPatna to ready the temple. This temple has history since 1000 years. The architecture of this temple is a bit renovated but there are few ancient carvings which are present inside the temple. Inside it there is Ambekal Krishna temple which is very famous. Also you will find venkatesha bhudevi temple as well. Road to reach the temple is very well maintained. you will find vendors outside the temple selling goods.

The Aprameya Swamy temple was built by Chola Emperor Rajendra Simha around the eleventh century. The architecture of the temple is magnificent and worth a visit. It is built in Dravidian style; the temple is facing east with five tiered Raja Gopura which is decorated with the Dashavatara. The main deity is Aprameya (Sri Krishna). Also in the sanctum are Goddess Lakshmi and Ambegalu (crawling) Krishna. It's 60 km from Bangalore and approximately 80 km from Mysore on NH 275 (OLD Road), however can be reached through Bengaluru Mysuru Expressway after taking a Uturn at Channapatna.

A very beautiful ancient temple near channapatna, worshipping lord Krishna in the form of baby. The main shrine is of lord channakeshava. There are few shrines for goddess mahalakshmi and Lord vishnu with his family. One of the main shrine is lord Krishna's in the form of a baby crawling with butter in his hand. People worship here seeking blessings for children. Temple is cool and silent. No words to describe the beauty of rajagopura. Temple carvings are very beautiful. There is also a hanuman temple next to this temple, dont miss it. You can buy wooden toys from near by shops. Temple timings is from 8-1pm and 4-8.30pm. There is very good parking space also, and charge 10rs for it.

Wineries & Vineyards
Sula Domaine Vineyard is a good place to hangout with family and friends. Best place for any type of photo shoot.
The explanation by the guide about the preparation of wine was a really interactive session. He explained about the usage of green grapes and black grapes for preparing wine. Then it was our chance to taste the wine. We tasted about 6 types of wine. This ended our wine tour.
Next was the stop in the restaurant for lunch. Of course the place was a bit crowded when we went for lunch. We waited for some time to get our table. There, we ordered a bottle of wine, some pizza and few starters. All tasted yummy.
Overall a great place to be on a weekend.

An excellent destination to spend your weekend day... easy to go to from Bangalore.
Free parking is available.
The entrance charge is 600 per adult, and the same amount may be spent at the vineyard for dining, wine purchases, or a tour and wine tasting...very well kept area.
6 varieties of wine to sample in 600 is good...Excellent and extremely clean restaurant...Food here was good...
We really enjoyed a lot..

If you've never been to a winery, Domaine Sula gives you a brief peek into the machinations of one.
However bear in mind that it is a relatively small winery with only few acres of cultivation.
If you want to see the vineyard at its ripest season, then visit only from Jan to March. If you go at any other time, you'll see empty vines and dry branches.
The restaurant offers a selection of Italian (veg only) and Indian (veg & non-veg) cusines.
The tour is brief and informative.
The wine tasting is an okaish experience as you get to taste only six different wines, none of which are aged for more than 24 months.
Entry cost is Rs.600 per person on weekdays and Rs.800 per person on weekends, which includes tour and tasting. The price is a bit steep, considering that the tour is brief and the tasting is limited.
Wine stomping costs Rs.500 extra per person and is available on weekends only. It is more of a fun activity.
Overall, you can expect to spend around 3-4 hours here including lunch, tour and tasting.
Tours are conducted hourly, starting from 10:30 am.

A good, one time, must visit place in a weekend day time when you are in Bangalore, especially if you have never seen a Brewery/Vineyard before. Situated 60-65km away from Bangalore in Bangalore Mysore state highway just after "Channapattana"(Toys Town), which is famous for wooden toys. So can touch both places in single travel.
There is an entry fee of 400 per person, after entering inside you can convert this to a guided tour and wine tasting session by paying additional 100. The tour was interactive with short but accurate explanation about the making, selection, sorting, fermentation, barrelling Altogether a 150 m walk is needed. There was no grapevine in the yard, they must be bringing grapes from elsewhere. Then we entered the most interesting session "wine tasting" , six varities will be provided 15-20ml each, from Chardonnay to Shiraz.
There is a restaurant open and closed areas , bit crowded, you have to wait some time for getting seat and for food. Costs above average, but every food we tasted were delicious. All stars for food. Near to the restaurant you can buy wines.
There are scenic area everywhere that you could collect some good photographs.

Good enought for a day trip from Bangalore. Was a little underwhelming as it's a tiny vineyard and fermenting facility..
We absolutely loved the bechamel sauce pasta + red sparkling wine at their restaurant!

Had to wait two hours to get food and that was only because we had to pay a cover charge of 600 at the entrance. We weren't informed at the gate on what specifically the money could be redeemed.
Definitely not worth the wait and visit. Inefficient management, full of chaos, flies everywhere and people just tired waiting for food.
The management was more interested in people spending their cover charge on the tour which happened to cost 600 rs with wine tasting package.
Not worth the travel and visit to the place. Food is just decent nothing great.

Loved the route from Bangalore.
Below are few points as soon you reach:
1. There is a cover charge of 600/- on weekends and 400/- per person on weekdays which can be redeemed inside either in shop, restaurant or experiences.
2. Go directly to the shop and register for tour and tasting, they have batch running every 2 hour.
3. They have tied up with Little Italy as restaurant partner. The food is good.
4. 3hrs max for this place.
5. The machines are off on weekends, so if you want to see how it functions, prefer weekdays.
6. I have attached the rate card of wines available for your reference.

I have visited Domaine Sula yesterday. Almost 1&1/2 hours drive from Bangalore. Its a calm and beautiful place. Good choice for a 1/2 day get away. This is off season for the grapes. So we couldn't enjoy the vine yard, but still they have guided tour and the guide explained the process of wine making and showed us the fermentation chambers, the wine barrels and the vine yard. The right season for cultivating grapes is December to March. After the tour they will have the wine tasting, we tasted almost 6 veriety of Sula wine. It was really good. After the wine tasting, we enjoyed food in the restaurant which is situated inside the Domain Sula. Food was delicious. We have opted for open area restaurant . They have a shop, where we can do purchase the wine as well. They are charging 500/- for the tour as well as for the wine tasting. The place is really beautiful, neat and calm.

A fantastic option if you want to gift someone an experience. Situated in the outskirts of Bangalore this place offers a short distance ride, tour of vineyards, walkthrough of the wine making process and wine tasting. They also have a restaurant which offers both Indian and Italian food options. There is a gift shop as well from where one can buy gifts (in the form of wine bottles). The gift shop also offers some wine options which are otherwise not very easily available in FL stores. They also give a 10% discount on all wine purchases. The tours are informative and guides are patient enough to answer your questions. Toilets are clean, the place is wheelchair accessible. There is ample parking space and they have also introduced EV charging points. Overall, it will be a great experience to spend a day here!

Would recommend not to waste your time here! Initially, the staff informed us it’s ₹400 per person for vineyard tour & wine tasting. Once we took the ticket they later informed we have to pay ₹200 extra per person for the tour and tasting. When questioned about the lack of clarity in giving out information they didn’t have any answers. The tour was a huge disappointment. The guide wasn’t explaining everything well not even the step-by-step process and more than that it was a bit difficult to understand him. There isn’t much anything to see and learn on the tour. They even didn’t show us the basic process of any vineyard tour ie grape crushing! Their vineyard is pretty much small and there’s nothing much to see and the guide as expected couldn’t contribute much there. Without any doubt, I would say not at all worth ₹600 each! The wine tasting was comparatively better than the tour but again not worth your time and money.

A Delightful Escape for Wine Lovers
Nestled off the Bangalore-Mysore expressway, Sula Vineyards or Domaine Sula offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our recent visit to this winery was nothing short of a truly memorable experience, despite arriving a tad late and missing out on the vineyard tour.
While we couldn't partake in the guided tour, which is highly recommended for those interested in exploring the vineyards in-depth, we didn't miss out on the true essence of Sula.
Sula Vineyards offers a delightful fusion of Italian and North Indian delicacies, ensuring that every palate is satisfied. The dishes were not only flavorful but also perfectly paired with the wines, creating a harmonious gastronomic adventure.
Beyond the wines and the food, Sula Vineyards boasts an ambiance that is truly captivating. The picturesque surroundings offer ample
opportunities to capture breathtaking shots, to create lasting memories.
Just keep in mind there is an entry fee, which can be redeemed against food or beverages or could explore the vineyard through tour as well.
For those interested in delving deeper into the world of winemaking, the vineyard tours are highly recommended. These tours are conducted in batches, so it's advisable to arrive early to secure a spot.
Domain Sula also offers a MRP outlet with their collection of wines and is quite pocket friendly.
Overall, Domaine Sula is a perfect destination for a day outing with loved ones. Whether you're a wine connoisseur, a foodie, or simply seeking a tranquil escape, this charming winery has something to offer everyone.
Despite the overall exceptional experience, it's worth noting that the staff could have been more courteous, which has made me to take out a star from 5 star rating. Aside from this minor drawback, Domaine Sula is a perfect destination for a day outing with loved ones.
Go explore and immerse yourself in the delightful world of Vineyards – a truly enchanting experience awaits.

We visited this place unplanned as we had come to an event near by. We randomly planned and visited this place. This has a 400rs full cover per person entry charge. We went in and they explained everything about the wine tasting tour and the factory visit and all that. As we were hungry we decided to order lunch first and do the rest later. The restaurant was beautiful and the menu curation was amazing. The food was oh so mouth watering. We went full over board an ordered almost everything on the menu. Everyone liked everything except for the biryani as everyone felt it's a little bland but the mutton and chicken was cooked soo tender and juicy. Loved our experience here and our steward gave the nicest service, unfortunately don't remember his name. This place is highly recommended.

The Keshava Temple in Somanaathapura is a stunning example of Hoysala architecture, comparable to the masterpieces of Belur and Halebid. This small yet intricately designed temple was constructed in 1268 by Somanatha, a Hoysalla king.

Ultimate architectural design and unbelievable carving on the stones at the time when there were no sophisticated tools and tackles. It indicates that our ancestors were highly skilled and knowledgeable. The temple is really must visit spot. Feel very bad about the people who had damaged the sculpture. Part of the epic Hoysala architectural circuit of Belur, Halebidu and Somnathpura, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a sight to behold. Possibly established and consecrated in the 13th century this unique temple complex has intricately carved pillars and friezes on episodes from Ramayana and Mahabharata. The ceilings are a masterpiece with innumerable carved lotuses. Three Vishnu shrines are seen inside, Keshava, Janardhana and Venugopala. The vesara style Shikharas are intact here unlike the Belur and Halebidu group of temples. A wonderful example of Dravidian and Nagara fusion architecture. Premises needs better upkeep and management as it is heavily visited. Better trained guards and conservation staff can regulate the crowd and avoid ill informed destructive behaviour of senseless visitors with no understanding of Heritage and civic sensibilities.
Ticketing is best booked in advance using the ASI's online portal. A helpful QR code kiosk is there at site as well. The physical ticketing counter should be kept open for international visitors who do not have access to Rupee based QR code payments. Disappointingly this remains shut for some obscure reason.
Parking is outside on the roadside and haphazard. Weekends can be extremely busy coupled with School educational tours that brings 100s of children with a handful of teachers to regulate them. Selfie seekers are possibly the biggest nuisance here.

Located in Mysuru city, the Sand Sculpture Museum showcases intricately carved sculptures made from sand. The museum is a privately maintained attraction and is a great place to visit if you're interested in art. The main attraction here is the 15-feet high Lord Ganesh idol made of sand, which is an amazing sight to behold. Aside from Lord Ganesh, the museum also showcases sculptures of various wildlife and ancient civilisations.
What a talented artist! it’s a small hidden gem, definitely go and appreciate the masterpieces she has created! I hope she gets the support and recognition to create and sculpt more.

If you are a art lover, do visit the place to look at the art work by a very young lady.
The space looks very small but you would definitely appreciate the work and the effort gone behind the work. There's a lot of detailing that has gone behind each piece of work.
They have tried to make the museum a bit engaging by adding other attractions in this small place like archery, 3D photo, couple of stalls(to make this place more commercial).
The carvings here was told to have taken 7-8 months to complete due to which they only have been maintaining the work for sometime now.
The entrance to the museum is ₹60/- per adult.

Stepping into the Mysore Sand Museum felt like embarking on a journey through an enchanting world crafted entirely from grains of sand. As I entered, I was immediately struck by the meticulous attention to detail evident in every sculpture. The dim lighting added to the ambiance, casting a soft glow that accentuated the intricate carvings.
One of the most impressive aspects was the sheer diversity of subjects covered in the sculptures. From historical landmarks to cultural icons, each creation seemed to tell a unique story, transporting visitors through time and space.
Overall, the Mysore Sand Museum offered a captivating blend of art, culture, and craftsmanship. It was a truly unique experience that left me inspired and enriched, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Mysore.

If this would have been some renowned artist, people would have blindly praised or at least not abruptly criticized! Whether the form is Sand art or not is not my focus, the passion and liveliness she has carved into this is priceless and more than amazing! The entire concept and connection of different themes and graceful expression for long 7 months is ultimate! I personally loved this place and would express immense love and bliss to the artist and her entire team including her father who is extremely humble to people visiting this place with no sense of pride but rich simplicity and politeness ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The museum is located on the road to Chamundi hills and is visible from the main road. The museum is a work done by a solo artist and yes, it is too good.
The lady has got some serious skills. The entry ticket is only ₹60 which is a bit more than what I think will be commensurate to what the place has to offer. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate the efforts and everything but given the number of people visiting this place ₹30-40 would have been a better price.
The place also has some local shops for you to buy local items and goods. The sand sculptures are really breath-taking and you are for sure going to be blown away by the skills this lady has.
She is the sole person who made all the sculptures and there is a little board which explains the story behind the same.
Kudos to the lady and I wish her all the best and as far as recommendation is concerned, yes, please visit this place to support talents and also see some masterpiece in front of you.

Good place to spend time with family and friends. One time watchable place when ur around Mysore.
If you have other Better plans or busy plans then this place can be skipped.
Tickets are bit high.
My point of view is even though the art is good, it doesn't feel too interesting to see, maybe due to modernization or something.

Great sand art done by a small girl.
Got Inspired a lot after seeing all the sand arts.
They are huge and attractive.
Also all the designs are very much in detail.
So give it a watch. It was something new for me.

Visited this place in 2016. This place is not so big. It is a small place. But we can't underestimate it. There was a long sand sculpture with too many arts within it. Can look about a hour into it. Can spend a hour here. Too many minute details in the sand. Such a nice sculpture by sand

I just had the honor of visiting the Mysore Sand Museum, and I am in awe of the amazing sculptures on show. This work genuinely exemplifies the highest caliber of skill and artistry. Every sculpture captures the mind with its distinct story.
I want to express my deep gratitude to the skilled sculptor that pour their hearts and souls into producing these stunning works of art. It is simply amazing how they can make the sand come to life with their meticulous attention to detail. The sculptures appear to come to life in front of your eyes because to the dedication and emotion that are seen in every line and curve.
A superb example of the elegance of sand art is the museum itself. The sculptures' arrangement and display produce.

Small correction, now the entry fees is 60/- for adults and for kids above 5 years same charge is applicable.
Place was really nice. We enjoyed a lot. It is difficult to find any form of sand art away from sea shores

Great effort. But place is make very small bacause if the shops and some small small outlet. So walking space also will he very less and hard to pass and see. There is a 3d photo taking place also. Don't visit in peak time.

Very beautiful business developed by sir and his family no one would have thought making sculptures and coating them with sand can become a money making tool my POV the sculpture were as is made in clay or something and then coated with sand the entry ticket is @60 per head for adult for a 10min sculpture seeing.
Frankly speaking if you're not going to take pictures over there don't go because it's not that intresting other then taking pictures I see the same old sculptures from 5 year ago Google review anyways.
Amazing business idea awesome execution.
And don't forget to give 5 star rating for using 3D picture gallery

Entry is 60rs per head. Kids below 5 years have free entry.
Just a 15-20 minutes walk to see the sand sculptors. Inside that there is separate area for 3D image taking , fish spa, bird feeding etc which has separate tickets to be bought at their own respective entrances.

It's a very small place but the sand art work done is quite impressive. Good to take pictures and buy some local handicrafts and artifacts. The price is not justified though. You would have to negotiate a lot.
There is some home made.chocolates counter also inside.
And in the end there is a 3d picture booth. If you learn the trick then pictures do come out nice.

Entry was 60 per head . Nice work by artist . Has few small shops with handmade chocolates and
Handicrafts .. but very dusty .. has an archery playing place with additional payment... has a few large pics where you can take almost near realistic pics like hulk , palace , kali ma..etc.
Sand art is very nice ..measurements are propotionate and detailing is nice .

Good place to visit, even though it's not that famous, if you have 1 hour to spare, you can definitely go here.
It's not a big place, just small covered campus with lots of amazing and beautiful sand carvings with great details. The entry ticket is also very nominal.
Also they have a bird feeding activity inside. You need to pay seperately for this. But the experience is good. I did that and it was very fun.

Good place to visit once. A lady named Gowri created these first ever sand art museum in Mysore. It is very small place. 30 mins is enough, but must visit.
It also has 3D picture gallery where you can click photos.

The Sri Chamundeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, an incarnation of the goddess Durga. The temple is located atop a hill in the city of Mysore and offers panoramic vistas of the city. Many rulers have contributed immensely to the temples development and given valuable ornaments to Goddess Chamundeshwari.
Whenever I go there. I can feel holiness of this place.when I see "maa" in front of my eyes that moment always is special for me. Jai Mata Di.

The temple is very clean and situated on the top of Chamundi hill. The routes are very scenic and breathtaking. Nice place for a visit, i went during rainy Saturday, crowd was very less. There was no queue I went inside directly and saw the goddess. The whole Mysore city can be seen from the top. If your health permits try using the stairs (1000 steps) once for going up and coming down.

This well-known tourist spot in Mysore is a must-visit for those seeking goddess blessings. The temple's charm is delightful, although it can get crowded on weekends and Friday mornings. However, for a small fee of Rs 100 or Rs 30, visitors can opt for fast entrance or special entry, respectively, ensuring a smoother experience. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the nearby nature paths and enjoy the fresh air. While parking is available for a fee and a short walk away, it adds to the overall convenience of visiting this sacred site.

A great atmosphere. This temple is located on a small hill top. It's one of the most beautiful and the oldest temple of the area. The view on the way to the temple and even from the hill is just breathtaking, especially in the evenings. Its great to visit in the mornings or in the evenings to enjoy the weather.
I will suggest not a stand in line instead of taking special tickets and after you take laddu for every special ticket.

Review Date (28-6-23): Chamundeshwari is called by the people of Karnataka as Nada Devi (ನಾಡ ದೇವಿ), which means state Goddess. It is situated at the elevation of around 3300 ft from the mean sea level.
--> It is believed that Goddess Durga slayed the demon king Mahishasura on the top of this hill which was ruled by him. The place was later known as Mahishooru (Place of Mahisha). The British changed it to Mysore and later Kannadized into Mysuru.
--> The Chamundeshwari Temple is considered as a Shakti Peetha and one among the 18 Shakti Peethas.
--> The worst thing here is management of queue line for Dharshan. The Rs.100/- or Rs.30/- or d free Darshan has almost no difference bcz it took 2½ to 3 hrs for Rs.100/- nd all queue lines got mixed at almost same time.
Toilets r there but some less maintenance.
--> Flowers, coconut stalls people say to keep footwear for free but we should compulsory buy at them. But infact there is a plenty of Footwear storage for Rs.10/- for 2 pairs. So no one need to leave their footwear at stalls..
Monkeys are quite more so don't keep banana type eatables directly in hand.

Temple is really divine but crowd management is worst. Please ensure that people enter the temple in single line so that elderly people and people carrying babies don't feel suffocated. The push and pull mentality doesn't let one have a peaceful glance towards the goddess. The management must take care about queue management properly.

A beutiful lake close to the famous mysore zoo. The way to the lake is through the middle of the zoo area.
Boating is available. But in this summer, better to avoid. Pedal blat is RS. 30 per person but the boat with operator will costs you 300 rupees (maximum 4 people) which is an utter waste of money. They will go one round maxm 5-8 minutes only and it is an open boat without any roof.
Rainy or winter season will be the better time to visit there.
Overall good to visit. Garden is well maintained. Hydrophytes collection was also good.

Various spots to sit and relax. Having a good view of the lake. Watch tower gives an elevated view of the lake. We can view birds flying around. Best time to see the birds are during the day and evenings when it's not too hot. Birds are rarely seen during the afternoons.

We can take a boat ride here at a very cheaper price. Also you can ride the boat yourself if you want to. It's a scenic place with variety of birds playing in the water. We went around this place and saw some variety of birds in the cages. They have big spaces inside the park with lush green trees and plants. The Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens is an animal zoo located adjacent to the Karanji lake and has been in operation since 1892. The zoo is home to a diverse range of animals, including exotic species, and is highly popular with tourists. The gardens are well-maintained and feature large gardens with a lake.
I had visited in end Apr 2022 on a Sunday. Very good and well maintained zoo. ₹100 entry fees for adults, if children are below 5 years age no need for entry ticket. ₹100 if you have separate camera irrespective of type. Walking distance is around 3 km it will take around 3 hours if you want to see all birds, animals. Battery car is also available for which you need to take ticket after getting entry ticket. On entering zoo, you need to pay refundable deposit of ₹10 for every plastic bottles you have and they will label it. On exiting the zoo, show these bottles and get refund. Most of the people get exhausted at exit, so probably we won't go back to the place for refund. Good thing is that the exit gate is leading directly to car parking. So you can easily go to your van or car at the parking lot. Most of hotels around the zoo are vegetarian. this is the only drawback. Since it was a holiday time for kids, the zoo was very much crowded. Due to this during lunch time you hardly get seats at the nearby restaurants and will not have much varieties to order. Hotels nearby serve mostly rice plates during this peak hours.

It's always good to visit this zoo with good varieties of animals and birds. New animals are also filling the place as the old ones are expiring.
Maintenance has increased tremendously with good focus on customer experience and safety.
Glass barricades are a good addition but it has to be cleaned occasionally.
Feels that animals are well maintained with good flow of adoptions in the recent days.
No special value for animal adopters (which is seen in other zoos). Even a small gesture like a returnable ID card would also attract more people. Even adoption boards for less than 20k amount are not put.
Parking space, entrance and other amenities are increasing day by day, which attracts more and more tourists.
Overall, a fine place for 2 to 3 hours of time.

The Mysuru Zoo is one of the cleanest ones you'll see in the country. The animals are always seen in a hygienic environ. And you have a large variety of them including Gorillas and Giraffes which are hard to find in most zoos. Children will have a memorable time although the zoo lacks a safari ride. They have golf Cart rides but these have long wait times so that part needs to be maintained better. Walking through it'll take at least 2 hours so please plan that much time.

Kids' strollers are better if travelling with young ones. Thumbs up for the administration department. Staffs were all cooperative. At last butterfly Park, don't miss it. Spend time in every section to enjoy more. Than you

Visited on a Sunday morning. Ticket fee is Rs. 100 for adults. Entered quickly with no waiting/queue for ticket purchase.
Didn't really expect much visiting a zoo as adults. However, we did end up enjoying every bit of the 3 hours spent in the zoo. The variety of animals and bird species with details of each mentioned in a visible and informative way, was quite good.
The place is well maintained with all facilities/amenities available.
Total walking distance is around 4km. You can opt for an electric buggy if you cannot walk (extra Rs. 200 per person)
They have a restaurant somewhere mid-way through the zoo. Food, snacks and Beverages are available. Quality and price is decent.
Recommended to visit in the morning, as it gets quite hot in the afternoon and also must animals go inside the shelter or are inactive post noon.
Overall a must visit for people of all ages visiting Mysore.

A very good zoo. Well maintained with a lot of animals. Even car facilities are available for aged people. We need to get tickets separately for it. If you can then go by foot to cover all animals. It will take nearly 3-4hrs by foot. My favourite zoo till date.

The one zoo I love going back several times since I was a kid, with my friends and now with my kids. Everytime it was fun experience. It was a long walk but the canopy of trees helped us to energize. Better to go early to avoid sun. Also carts are available for people who can't walk much. Overall enjoyable experience for everyone. Plastics are not allowed. If we carry they put sticker for 10rs each and need to return at end to get back the money.
Good idea to stop littering but still can see plastics thrown inside

Mysore Zoo is a fantastic place for animal lovers and families alike. With a wide variety of animals, it’s a great way to connect with nature. The zoo is well-maintained, providing a clean and healthy environment for both the animals and visitors.
The battery-operated vehicles are a convenient way to explore the zoo, especially considering the full circuit is approximately 4 km1. At a reasonable cost of Rs. 200 per person, it’s a comfortable alternative for those who prefer not to walk the distance.
Visitors have noted that the zoo is world-class, with healthy, well-fed animals and informative boards that add educational value to the visit1. It’s recommended to arrive early to see the birds and animals when they’re most active2.
Overall, Mysore Zoo offers a delightful experience that is both fun and informative. It’s a must-visit for anyone traveling to Mysore.

One must visor this zoo. Many many animals and birds. You may need to take half day if you want to see correctly everything. Beautiful birds and animals were maintained well. Don't waste time much in the beginning. Recommend to walk instead of taking the car. Ticket price is reasonable ₹100/- per head. Loved it

It is a wonderful place. A must visit place for all animal lovers. The park is clean and well maintained. The setup is convenient and the sign boards really helped to walk through. Paid mini vehicle service is available for those who find it difficult to move along. The management takes care of the security of the visitors by ensuring the facilities are safe. Some parts are still under construction. I guess they are expanding the park which is good.

Visited on a weekday afternoon and it was a little bit crowded.
There is paid parking available on the opposite side of the main entrance and an underground passage will take you directly inside the zoo.
Entry charges are Rs. 100 per head. It takes around 2 hours to cover the entire zoo on foot and requires a walk of around 2.5-3 km. Use the signboards and maps placed on the walkway to make sure you don't miss any section.
Zoo premises are well maintained and there are several birds/animals present. For kids, it would be a treat to the eyes.
I would recommend visiting in the morning hours to have the best experience. Carry an umbrella and water bottle to stay hydrated. There is a cafeteria towards the end for food and drinks.

Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, also known as Mysore Zoo, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Mysore, India. As a visitor, I found the zoo to be a great place to spend a day, especially if you're interested in wildlife and conservation.
The zoo is spread over a large area and is home to a wide variety of animals, including tigers, lions, elephants, bears, deer, and many species of birds and reptiles. The enclosures are well-maintained and provide ample space for the animals to move around freely.
One of the things that impressed me about the zoo was its focus on conservation and education. The zoo has a number of programs and exhibits that aim to raise awareness about endangered species and their conservation. They also have a breeding program for several endangered species, including the white tiger and the Indian rhinoceros.
The zoo is well-organized and easy to navigate, with clear signposting and maps provided at the entrance. There are plenty of benches and shaded areas throughout the park where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery.
Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens if you're in Mysore. It's a great place to learn about wildlife and conservation while enjoying a fun day out with family and friends.

Mysore Zoo is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering an enchanting experience that goes beyond the mere appreciation of fauna. Nestled in the heart of Mysore, this zoological park seamlessly blends conservation with visitor comfort, creating an immersive journey into the animal kingdom.
During my recent visit, I was impressed by the thoughtful amenities that enhanced the overall experience. Ample drinking water stations, well-maintained restrooms, strategically placed dustbins, and informative signage boards ensured a comfortable and enjoyable stroll through the zoo. The presence of benches at key locations provided a welcome opportunity to pause, relax, and soak in the natural beauty.
The zoo's commitment to diversity is evident in its expanding collection of animals, featuring a captivating array of species. From majestic big cats to playful primates, each enclosure is meticulously designed to mimic the natural habitat, fostering a sense of wonder and connection with the inhabitants.
One of the standout features is the exquisite range of birds that grace the aviaries. The vibrant plumage and melodious tunes of these feathered residents add a symphony of colors and sounds to the serene ambience. The zoo's dedication to creating a clean and well-maintained environment further amplifies the joy of the visit.
Mysore Zoo isn't just a tourist attraction; it's a testament to conservation efforts and a celebration of biodiversity. Whether you're a family seeking a day of educational fun or a solo traveler appreciating the wonders of the animal kingdom, this zoo is a must-visit destination in Mysore. The combination of great facilities, diverse wildlife, and a picturesque setting makes it a truly unforgettable experience.
This is the best place for taking kids. The premises are cleanly maintained by the staff. The entry costs around ₹100 for adults and ₹50 for kids below 10 years( check at the ticket counter once). Good to start early as it's a vast environment and takes a minimum of 1 hour even while using a battery operated car for which they charge ₹200 for adults and ₹150 for kids. The battery car operator explains about the animals and birds while passing through each section. There is a parking space right near the exit gate with ample space. The zoo staff are courteous and helpful. The animals are maintained well and the cages are cleanly maintained.

It is hard to rate a zoo because it is essentially animals trapped in a cage for the entirety of their existence but if you put those sentiments aside, the zoo offers interesting facts of all the animals on the boards in front of the cages, regarding what they eat, how endangered they are and where they are from.
Most of the cages were well maintained however the lions looked very malnourished, or could possibly be old age. It was sad to see. The water in the ponds were not refilled so the tiger had nothing to lie in to cool down.. the zoo can be doing a lot better to take care of these animals considering the amount of people visiting each and every day.
Nevertheless, the gorillas and chimpanzees were a sight to see as they made moves for us all and tried to make us laugh..the gorilla is extremely endangered so it makes sense they are preserved in a zoo..
When you visit, make sure to not feed the animals or tease or scare them. They have feelings too. You also have options to donate to the cause by adopting the animals..

We lived the zoo. They have so many varieties of animals, birds, and plants and are well maintained. The zoo walking area is around 3km, if want a ride, you can get a battery car for 200rs per head. The path is well covered with trees so help from direct sun.

Mysore Zoo is a delightful destination for families and animal lovers alike. The variety of species housed here, from majestic elephants to playful monkeys, provides a fascinating glimpse into the diversity of wildlife. The zoo's spacious enclosures and well-maintained facilities ensure the animals' comfort and well-being. However, some areas could benefit from additional shade and seating for visitors, especially during hot weather. Overall, Mysore Zoo offers an enjoyable and educational experience, perfect for a day out with the family.

The best zoo in India and one of the best in the world as of today. The zoo is very big spanning across 157 acre and a walking of distance of around 3.5km. If you cannot walk there are golf carts available for some extra fair. The number of animals and species is just astounding. There are more than 562 mammals, 748 birds and 103 reptiles. The variety is quite big and animals and tress from all around the world can be found here. There is a lake, called Karanji which i wasn't able to visit as it required a ticket of its own but it wasn't mentioned anywhere near the ticket counter. There are souvenir shops, a restaurant and a Mysore sandal shop inside the zoo too. Don't miss the bird enclosure as it has many birds moving freely and is really beautiful.
An advice from my side: there are many places with free drinking water where you can fill up your bottle, but if you don't have a bottle and buy one from the restaurant, make sure to keep the bottle with you till the end and there will be a counter where you can give the bottle back to get Rs10 back per bottle.
(going to upload only some photos as i didn't take that many photos)

A really nice place to visit for animal and nature lovers. There are a huge variety of different animals that you can see.
The whole path is around 3km which might be difficult for some.
There is strict checking for plastic items like bottles, chips, etc. You'll also not find any snacks or beverages along the way except at one point. If you are bringing snacks, make sure to bring them in paper/non plastic bags.
Also be sure to carry water, hats and cooling glasses since it is extremely hot and sunny.
Plan to go early in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat.

It's a nice place but in the summer season every animal is struggling. We can see that. If they provide extra water to every animal they may feel chill.
Maintaining good and clean. The restroom and child care room are also there in lots of places. Drinking water is good.
The entire zoo will take 4 hours to cover.
Inside some little shops there to buy, eat but the thing is expensive.

The Sri Nandi Temple is a popular tourist destination in Mysore, India due to its close proximity to the Chamundeshwari temple. The temple is dedicated to the sacred bull Nandi, and visitors are welcome to climb up to the hilltop shrine. The grounds are pleasant and a great place to relax after visiting the more popular attractions in Mysore.
This giant Nandi (Bull) image is located on top of Chamundi hill in Mysore. Over 350 years old, it is one of the oldest symbols of Mysore.
About 16 feet in height and 24 feet long, this Nandi atop the Chamundi Hills is the third largest in India. The creation of this colossal image is attributed to Dodda Devaraja Wodeyar (1659–1673) on of the illustrious Maharajas of Mysore. It is the same maharaja who also commissioned the 1000 stepped stairway to the hilltop.
Since our last visit 6 years ago, the entrance to this important bull sculpture temple has been closed to vehicles. As we visited the Sri Chamundeshwari temple above we chose to go down 300 steps to get to this one and of course we had to go back but worth to see the magnificent cow sculpture which has been cleaned and looks much better. I believe the alternative route involves climbing 1000 steps, so I recommend driving to the top and doing the 300 step workout
This is world's third largest nandi whereas first in Hampi, second in thanjavoor Tamil Nadu

This is an amazing spiritually and beautifully carved Nandhi statue situated little over half way to Chanundeshwari Temple on top of Chamundi hill. You can reach this location either by foot by climbing stairs from Mysuru or by vehicle through dedicated paved one way road. There is also a Cave Shiva temple right next to Nandhi statue. This area been well maintained, there are many vendors including food and beverage. Watch for monkies because they love your food.

Sri Nandi Temple in Mysore is the bliss to visit when you plan for the Mysore trip from your place. The temple is very near to the Chamundeshwari temple and is just half the distance to the temple there is a 5m tall idol of Nandi the sacred bull of Lord Shiva. The temple premises are very pleasant and a must worth a visit for the devotional tourists.
Huge sized granite stone Nandi very well caved and nicely placed on hill. Nandi is mount of Lord Shiva and one finds and one finds Nandi at all Shiva temples. It also called Nandidurg or Nandi Betta.
This is Big Mandi a top Chamundi Hills Mysore. Must visit if you are in Mysore. Nandi is not at top most location of the hill but a little down. Either you park in top and walk down through steps a little or on way up or down park your car and walk sideways to be here. We need to walk a maximum 5 minutes. There are lot of stalls on sideways selling cut fruits and sugarcane juice but try them if you are confident of your stomach. A little walk down the steps from Nandi you see a marvellous view of entire Mysore don't miss that. Its the best view one can get ,The large of the Nandi is beautifully carved from a single rock in the ancient history of the Mysuru.

The Nandi idol on the way to Sri Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru is a breathtaking monolith that commands awe and reverence. As I approached the magnificent sculpture, I marveled at its colossal size and intricate detailing, a testament to the craftsmanship of ancient artisans. Compared to the ones in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, and Tanjavur, Tamil Nadu, this Nandi stands out for its sheer scale and imposing presence. While all three Nandi idols exude spiritual significance, the one in Mysuru holds a unique charm, perfectly complementing the divine energy of the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple and leaving a lasting impression on pilgrims and art enthusiasts alike.

An imposing and huge Nandi Bull statue on the hill is definitely worth visiting. From the Chamundeshwari temple, it's around 15 mins trek one way, downward journey towards the Nandi bull is ofcourse easier but the way back, same route, is a vertical and steep even though with stairs. The Nandi is located almost at the ¾th the way to the hilltop. The main road to hilltop arrives at a "View Point" junction. The right fork leads to Nandi (2km) and the straight road leads to the main shrine of Chamundeswari further at the top of the hill. The 2km road to nandi is broken, so the only way to get there is walk 2kms. The road is flat and takes 20-30 min to reach. There is an old shiva temple in the cave behind the nandi.

The Mysore Palace, an Indo-Saracenic palace completed in 1912, is one of India's most splendid royal buildings and the second-most-visited sight in the country. It served as the seat of the Wodeyar maharajas and was rebuilt after a fire devastated the original structure in 1897. The extravagant interior features a vibrant array of stained glass, mirrors, and bright colors.

Place to admire the royalty. The palace is beautiful, sometimes not fully open. Government guides are available. You would be able to see some old photos, traditional dresses, ornaments, and mind-blowing interiors. Sink in the past to see what kings life was.

This palace is so beautiful. Inside the palace, u can watch the actual heritage of how beautifully it was made by our ancestors and the corridors are so huge
It's a delight to watch these sculptures and architecture. Huge area to discover, need to spend at least 2 to 3 hours if you want to enjoy and cover the whole area

I've been here twice. Still fascinating to see a palace kept well maintained. If you are planning to visit here , you'll need a day and a night. Visiting hours are only in day time. You can watch light show in evening . You can also experience horse rides near by the palace.

Mysore Palace: A must-see gem! The stunning architecture and rich history make it a captivating destination. Be prepared for crowds, but the experience is worth it. Don't miss the beautifully illuminated palace at night for an enchanting sight. We were told that the palace is only lit on Sundays from 7pm to 8pm. Fortunately, we arrived just in time, and the palace was illuminated a bit earlier, shortly before 7.

Beautiful cathedral that is popular for its airy sanctuary, stained glass and twin spires Previously called the St.
Very very beautiful, clean, holy, well maintained. Parking inside safe and comfortable free. No pictures allowed inside. Once you go there you can see the real size if the Church and beautifularchitecture. You don't need to remove your shoes. Underground alter is so quiet and peaceful. Thousands of niches of the past generations named there.

This a majestic cathedral, known for its beautiful architecture. We visited it in the month of November and it a lovely day with clear skies and little clouds
A beautiful cathedral that is well-maintained. You feel this sense of divinity even when you just enter the cathedral grounds. Silence and sanctity is always observed inside the cathedral. The adoration chapel provides one the environment to delve into deep prayer. A must-see if you ever go to Mysore!
There is a underground inside the church and the way leads you to the backside of the church. Pray for your needs and have a good time here. This a majestic cathedral, known for its beautiful architecture. We visited it in the month of June and it a lovely day with clear skies and little clouds. Good place to see the European style of architecture and a place of worship for catholics. One can take good photographs and there are lot of people selling selfie sticks at the entrance.
Usually crowded on holiday and weekends. Better to plan your visit accordingly.

It's a beautiful place with best architecture... In the palace you can see lots of uniqueness.. I visited there with my friends and it was a good and memorable plan... They don't have any entry charges... We've spent almost a hour there and it's worth spending... You can peacefully sit there and get some relaxation to your mental health in this place... The place was filled with silence.. Please plan to visit this place in the evening during your Mysore trip...

St. Philomena's Cathedral at Mysore is a great place to visit. Main thing, they have kept the entry free of cost. The architecture of the church is very grand and looks like any European church. They have provided parking space for cars behind the church. It's a very quite and peaceful place. We can sit on the benches and e joy peace of mind. There is a basement with few places of worship and one can exit through the narrow lane to the rear gate of church. There was no restriction on photography. They have kept the place clean. It's a unique architecture where there are 3 halls, one in front and other two on the either sides of the Pulpit (where Father stands for preaching). People can pray from all three sides (cross ➕ like structure). The colorful light rays enter the church from the stained glass windows of the church. It's a Beautiful church. The church is very crowded on the weekends.

Mysore's St. Philomena's Cathedral is a breath-taking work of art. Its breathtaking neo-gothic architecture is evocative of European churches. The cathedral's enormous size and its elaborate stained glass windows produce a calm and majestic ambiance. Equally striking are the interior features, which include soaring columns and a serene atmosphere. This holy treasure displays the city's deep heritage and dedication. St. Philomena's Cathedral is a must-see for anybody interested in history or religion. It provides an amazing look into the city's spiritual and architectural past. Because of the design of the church, this location is ideal for photographing pictures in the old style. The town is overly crowded, and parking might be challenging. No charge to enter.

One of the best and must visit churches. If you are in Mysore please don’t miss out this beautiful place. It’s peaceful and built so well. You can feel the calmness here. We went on a moon and the place was empty and we had the entire time to pray and feel the positivity around. The church is huge and treat to eyes. There’s enough parking for cars and bikes around the church.

Again, no place of worship can be determined by the stars it receives because a religious place is about how one feels - spiritual or peaceful in such a place. St. Philomena's cathedral is one such place which I visit whenever I'm in Mysore. This church brings a sense of calm and peace.
The church has a sufficient amount of parking available inside the premises. Mass is carried out in three languages - Kannada, Tamil and English - timings of mass and weekly prayers have been shared in pics.

With the fame of being one of the largest churches in India, this majestic church captivates everyone with its architectural excellence. So as i do too It also boasts of being the second largest church in Asia. Dedicated to Saint Philomena, St. Philomena’s Church is not only known for its architectural beauty and religious significance; it stands as an exemplary of secular viewpoint and the religious harmony which existed in Mysore. This can be seen from the fact that this church was built by Mysore ruler for the European residents in the city..

Lots of tourist comes to visit and we were among also one of them, the most important thing is you need to maintain silence and we can feel also even though it was crowded in weekend but the silence and peace was there. It is also spread in vast areas
