Booked a transfer from the airport to the city, last minute and late at night. It was very easy to find the meet up point (just outside arrivals), also the person in charge to meet with the passengers was already calling me when I was still on the phone finishing booking the service. Waited(inside the airport) for a short period for another passenger and had a quick and safe return home. All personal were polite and attentive.

Didn't show up at the airport to transfer us to our accommodation. Tried to phone but no answer. Tried emailing and no reply. This was all very stressful so would not recommend anyone booking with this company. Stream Shuttles also refuse to refund and we paid a lot of money for this service. It is all a big con.
Barbara Tippett — Google review
Didn’t turn up to pick me up from the airport or return and lastminute refused to refund me. Phone numbers don’t work and clearly false advertising.
Allison McDonald — Google review
Didn’t arrive to pick us up, mobile and website for the company were not working. Had to request a refund and get an Uber instead.
Don’t waste your time or money with this company

Booked trip through lastminute. Called number for Stream Shuttle Melbourne provided by both google and lastminute.com and advised no this business is not with this phone number. Cannot find then anywhere.
Chrissy B — Google review
I am trying to be fair, they said on receipt will pick up between 7.45 to 8.05am. according to phone log, they called me at 7.43am, I immediately returned the call 7.43am and said they were out the front, within 1 or max 2 minutes I then came to the front of my hotel and no one here, so I waited out the front for a few minutes then called, he said he left and will come back, a minute or so later at 7.54am I then get a message saying wont come back. so I called both mobile and office who won't reply. Suggest anyone not use nor book with the only airport kiosk either, use another company who is also a couple of $ cheaper. As before I checked on line price was $36 return to and from Docklands, where at kiosk was more expensive, only $4 more but ok. now regret. Next time best to book online with another not Stream. Ended up getting Ola taxi only $32

We ordered this service through wotif, and had the same situation as all other reviews. No one turns up and no one answers the phone, wotif couldn't get a hold of them either but refused to refund the money. This is a complete scam!

They phoned us with directions to pick up point whilst we were picking up our baggage and they were so polite and very courteous!! Would recommend them! A must to confirm your booking as with all travel arrangements! 😊😊😊

Booked a return transfer to airport and 20 minutes before pick I called to find out booking had been over looked and no one was on their way to collect us. I was advised to catch a taxi instead. Driver offered to meet us at airport to pay the difference and when I arrived driver was not there before I boarded my flight. Would never use again.

I found this service very convenient and flexible. It was great that one could easily speak to a person if required and that the pick up time was flexible despite booking a specific journey time. My driver dropped me off at a convenient location near my place at my request. I liked that they were flexible on this point too. I wasn't locked into a fixed drop off point that might have meant walking much further home. I will definitely be using Starbus Shuttle next time I fly!

No Response after emailing them several times. Requested a refund due to COVID but no reply. It wasn't until I went on their website to find out they have suspended their service. A courtesy email would have been helpful.

Extremely disappointed - should be no stars but unless I at least give one star, I can't post.
Had to cancel a trip to Melbourne from Adelaide on 08/12/2022 and went through the cancellation process noting they stated I would hear from them in circa 7 business days.
Here we are 2 months down the track, yes Covid has impacted their business for which I sympathize them but, no response to any follow up emails.
Surely they are monitoring their website and emails - after all they have suspended business.
All I would like is a response advising when they will be able to address my cancellation refund request.

I received a cancellation after payment was made when I was already on my way to the informed pick up location.
Please refrain from trying to use this service unless you have time to book it at least 24 hours in advance.
I don't think I would be your only customer to try and book a shuttle on the same day of my flight. It would be great if you could invest in a system which stops customers from making same day reservations if this is how you prefer to operate. There are many systems offering this solution these days which saves a lot of headache for both parties. I'm extremely disappointed with the experience I had today and the agent even made fun of my comment regarding the review I was looking to post. I really hope Starbus takes this seriously and invest in a better solution for people travelling to Melbourne.

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would.
I have been using this company for the past 6 years and I did not have any issues at all.. Until I made a booking and I was told they would arrive between 12:45 pm-1:05 pm. I met the driver at 12:45 pm and asked politely if he can wait for me while I take my luggage out. I was out at 12:50 pm, and I could not find the bus anymore. They left me and charged me $27. I called up to ask if they can reverse the charge as the driver clearly told me that he would wait for me. Anyway, they hanged up on me and still charged me $27.
What a great way to boost your profit and operate your business. All the people I know will not be using this company too anymore. Too rude and no manners.

Our flight landed in Melbourne early and with a short walk to the pickup point was fantastic. A Starbus Shuttle was on hand already with a space for 4 people but we had 5 so the driver rang the office for another bus which arrived 5 minutes later. The service we received on pickup was excellent and recommend Starbus Shuttle

After reading the not so great reviews on this page i was rather skeptical about using this service on recent trip to Melbourne. I am so glad we did...we were picked up about 15 minutes after calling when we arrived. Then on return trip the driver was waiting for us at our hotel right on time. I would recommend this service and will be defiantly using again. Thanks Starbus.

They provide door to door service. Their punctual, economical, the drivers are always helpful with your luggage. Our driver today provided us some great ideas for places to visit while here in Melbourne. Not only is that driver great for Starbus his great for Melbourne tourism and visitors. We highly recommend them.

I have used Starbus shuttle services three times this past year. The services offered by Starbus and the performance of its staff are excellent. Staff perform their job with full dedication. They handle the luggage with care to ensure it is not damaged.
Their website to book their services is easy to use and understand.

Couldn't rate this service low enough- poor drivers, always late, unprepared, predatory pricing, vehicles probably unroadworthy.
Just don't.
I booked with Con-X-ion but got sub contracted out to these hopeless excuses.
They advertise departures "average" of every 15 minutes - I waited 30 minutes before a bus came and dropped off but would not pick up anyone and left. Waited another 20 minutes before a bus came willing to take us but had no pre booking information despite all three groups booking in advance
All in a rubbish vehicle nothing like what is advertised - looked like they pulled it off the street in a shanty town.
Trip back I booked an extra hour early to be safe and was still nearly missed my flight. Worse bus and overloaded. Driver was friendly but he was obviously booked to capacity from all over Melbourne so too many stops meant more delays, 45 minutes late for pick up and still 3 more stops before we could head to the airport. Woeful
Wife unfortunately was already booked a month or two after me and had an almost identical experience.
Avoid at all costs
The RAAF Museum is home to Australia's largest collection of military aircraft and memorabilia. The museum has a few hangars which display planes from World War I up to the fighter jets of today. The museum tells the story of Australia's second oldest air force.
Nice little air museum. Not fully open but still well worth the visit. They do not allow Ubers on base so you need to walk 700 meters to and from the museum.
Dan Paquette — Google review
Despite the pandemic I got a chance to visit the museum and see a few of the exhibits. Some of the information was quite fascinating and there were some cool replicas on display. I don't normally go to museums so I don't have anything to compare it to but if you're into planes , more accurately warplanes, then you're in for a treat.
Hilleath — Google review
We used to come here so much prior to covid but this was our first visit in a number of years.
A lot has changed since our last visit and you now need to book your free tickets online, and in advance.
The gift shop is gone but a staff member told me they would have one again later this year.
Previously it would show online if there was a flying demonstration coming up and list the time, sadly that's no longer being done.
We booked our tickets for this visit a few weeks out, and were lucky enough to visit when a seaplane was due to land 1 hour later with 2 tigermoths, celebrating 100 years since a seaplane had landed at the same place after a trip around the globe.
My son was so happy to be there at such a special time, and it was really wonderful to see the military band playing and firetrucks squirting water to welcome the pilot back to point cook after he re-enacted the same journey that was taken 100 years ago.
My teenage son can't wait for our next visit.
Mara Polwarth — Google review
The museum has plenty to see. The planes on display have all been restored to great conditions and showcase how aircraft were built. It is amazing to see what materials were used for building them. There is a hanger that lets you look in on the aircraft that are currently being restored and there are another 2 hangers showcasing a number of aircraft that sadly you cannot get up to close to.
Ben Wilson — Google review
The newly renovated museum is really well done. The aircraft and other exhibitions are very preserved/restored and there are plenty of descriptions. Staff are enthusiastic too.
Eden Freeman — Google review
Amazing experience, great for the kids. Had to wait a bit to get in but it's a requirement that all licenses of adults entering are checked.
Not many things are free today so that was a plus. Very clean and great set up of three different areas to explore.
nyomi debrincat — Google review
A very well maintain museum. Rich in historical facts and write ups. Lots of restored planes both bombers and fighters. Not to be missed if you like models and history. We were in luck because we get to watch an airplane live demo acrobatic moves.
Jack Lee — Google review
Surprisingly interesting place, the museum presents an historical overview of Australia's military aviation history through a combination of itemised and photographic exhibits and full sized original and restored aircraft. Fairly extensive exhibition space spread over a number of building, great for kids to explore, a gift shop and friendly staff. Not a lot of people seem to visit so it's a quiet environment to explore; you will need to sign in at the front gate via security.
I think there's an opportunity to have more aircraft on display and allow visitors to get up close which unfortunately at this point is not allowed otherwise a great little place to visit if your passing through Point Cook.

Just bring my son here. Very nice place. All display items are well maintained. Very friendly staff. Two reminders: all adults need to bring photo ID and there is display flying at 13:00pm. Organize your time.

The RAAF Museum is an absolute delight for aviation enthusiasts of all ages, A journey through aviation history, incredible air show designed specifically for kids. The thrilling spectacle of skilled pilot performing maneuvers in the sky leaves children wide-eyed with excitement.

The museum consist of number of airplanes from RAAF history and many more aviation equipment. Everything is very well showcased and all the details are available by them. Great place to visit with your little one who is excited about airplanes. Make sure to make a booking and have a photo id with you.
Susitha Ravinda Senarath — Google review
A must for anyone who has an interest in Australia’s military aviation history.
Aircraft and experiences expertly preserved.
Some exhibits brought memories flooding back like the RAAF recruits display.
Sad to see the big birds like P3 and Hercs sitting sad behind a fence.
Spent 11 years on the P3 and would have been good to be able to get close or even in.
Maybe one day they can include them as a static internal.
But all other aircraft inside are perfectly preserved and very accessible.
Call ahead to ensure you can get on base, but the museum is free to enter.
Jared Theisinger — Google review
Worth a visit. Reasonably lots of good informative displays. easy access from Pt Cook, ample free parking.
Ensure that you make a booking time via their website.
ahmad zahidi Ismail — Google review
The RAAF Museum at Point Cook is a great curation not just of planes but of a journey through the RAAF, examining history and experiences. Volunteers are eager and welcoming. If you can time your visit appropriately, make sure you are there for the 1pm flying display (on Thursdays and Sundays if I'm not mistaken - but check the website) where pilot and commentator are happy to field questions. There's a seated area for you to bring a picnic while waiting. Also ensure you book ahead, because you need to register via the website as it's an active military base. I hope the strike hangar is open to visitors again soon, because it houses the most exciting aircraft for youngsters. Aircraft highlights current open include the Mirage and Sabre. Marvellous that this is free to enter.

Great place to spend the weekend with family activity free. You just have to make register online for free entry tickets. Lots of history and knowledge shared.

The museum was awesome so many aircraft and memorabilia from the RAAF the displays were awesome and the aircraft conditions were amazing
TECHNOPLEX — Google review
Fantastic exhibit of the RAAFs history over the past hundred or so years. They will often do flying demonstrations with the training aircraft on Sunday. The building itself is full of exhibitions with original equipment and photographs from Australian involvement in wars over the last century.
Well worth a trip as it's free and fun for all ages, you just have to register online.
I recommend you take at least 2 hours to go through the museum and enjoy it properly.
Nathan f — Google review
A very nice way to spend 3-4 hours. The museum leads a thorough journey through the history of the RAAF while presenting some of Australia's most important military aircraft up to the 1990s along the way.
The museum itself is located on an active military base. Because of this, booking in advance is essential - they check IDs and vehicle registration before issuing visitor passes on entry. Entry is free, however.
While photography around the base is not allowed (except in the museum itself), if you visit on a day where they hold flying displays at 1:00pm, they will allow you to take photos of the plane flying above. If you have a zoom lens, make sure to take it with you.
There are toilets but no food or drink facilities, so bring water and a snack if you plan on spending a bit of time here. The gift shop is small but has a great range of model aircraft and some general gifts.
Overall, a fantastic place for enthusiasts, and a great opportunity to learn about Australia's military aviation history.

The Victoria State Rose Garden is a serene and picturesque destination featuring over 5,000 roses of various species. This garden has received international acclaim and is meticulously cared for by dedicated volunteers. The layout of the garden resembles a five-petaled Tudor rose, with flourishing floribunda roses and modern hybrid tea beds. Visitors can stroll along walking paths, relax on benches, or even enjoy a picnic amidst the stunning floral displays.
Accessible at Gate 2, Main Rd next to the Zoo.
You can catch the bus here too! (I drove here, I'm not sure what the actual route is)
Beautiful place for a walk among the Rose bushes, lots of parking area. Would suggest to bring a hat and lots of sunscreen if you do plan to be out walking as there is no shade unless you stick to the sides of the bushes (away from the roses). I think its the perfect place for a picnic too!
Paula P — Google review
The international acclaimed Victoria State Rose Garden is a must see on your Werribee Park visit. From October to May, delight in the colour and fragrance of over 5,000 roses in bloom.
There are two "best" times, subject to weather. In November (spring) the first flush of blooms and the once-flowering spring roses are at their peak. Then in March, the autumn flush of modern roses make it an excellent time to see masses of flowers.
Plenty of parking spaces and can be reserved for events.

The Victoria State Rose Garden is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone who loves nature and flowers. The garden is stunning, filled with a breathtaking variety of roses that bloom in an array of colors and scents. It's truly a beautiful rose garden, meticulously maintained and a joy to walk through.
One of the best aspects of the garden is the sheer diversity of roses. There are many different types of roses, each more beautiful than the last. Whether you're a rose enthusiast or just someone who appreciates lovely flowers, you'll find something to admire here.
The layout of the garden is also very well thought out, making it easy to wander and take in the beauty at your own pace. It's a peaceful and relaxing place, perfect for a leisurely stroll or even just sitting on a bench and soaking in the sights and smells.
Overall, the Victoria State Rose Garden is a delightful place to visit. It's perfect for a family outing, a romantic date, or simply some quiet time in nature. Highly recommended for its beauty, variety, and the tranquil atmosphere it offers.

A Bloomin' Good Time at Victoria State Rose Garden!
So, I recently decided to take a couple of buddies to the Victoria State Rose Garden for a chill day out. We were all excited to see what this gorgeous garden had in store for us, and honestly, it didn't disappoint!
We spent the day leisurely strolling around, soaking up the good vibes, and sniffing the blooms like we were on a mission to find the best scent. The whole place was buzzing with nature and beauty, making it the perfect spot for a laid-back outing.
Sure, we may have picked a time when the roses were a bit shy and out of season, but hey, that didn't stop us from having an awesome experience! There was still plenty of lovely greenery and picturesque scenery to keep us entertained and feeling one with nature.
Victoria State Rose Garden is an absolute gem, and we all had a blast. If you're looking for a sweet spot to unwind, catch up with friends, or simply bask in the beauty of the great outdoors, this garden's got you covered. Can't wait to go back during rose season to see it in full bloom!

Hii, today I would like to share the experience about the rose garden which is located in Werribee, it's an amazing rose garden there are so many different species of the rose and the beautiful thing is they also mentioned that thing on the rock under the plant ... But the worst thing is we don't know the right time to visit this place... Also this place has a sport where you can see some jiraff from Werribee zoo as it's really close to the zoo. So visit that place and enjoy the nature but make sure you know the right time when plants are full of flowers..

A big surprise on our way to the great ocean road. Can you imagine? A State Rose Garden! It’s an absolute must-see for rose lovers. I’m very fond of these for many years perfectly maintained roses. Healthy, prosperous and beautiful. Here you can see how roses can age in grace. Many varieties of roses are on display. For every taste you’ll find something worth to enjoy and be inspired for your own garden. 5/5 stars.
We had a nice visit to the cafe on the ground and enjoyed our picnic in the park.
Absolutely incredible animal sanctuary. Went for the first time on a premium tour and loved every minute. Helpful guide led us through animal paddocks and spoke about certain residents’ stories of how they were rescued. You are able to get up close and personal for pats and photos with the animals. Especially loved seeing the piggies! The gift shop also has some really nice things, and cost is a secondary thought when you know that the proceeds are helping sustain the sanctuary and the animals! Will definitely return here in the future.

Rented a Tiny Home at this place and learned about Edgar’s Mission. Had no idea this place existed until then! Went on their Saturday 90-min tour and learned a lot about the rescued farm animals. Tour guide was passionate at teaching us about how animals were treated in Australia. It was a great experience meeting all of the animals as well! Fed the cows and petted some goats and pigs! Very cute.

Edgar’s Mission is quite possibly one of my favourite places on earth. We attended for the kids/short tour and felt so blessed to finally be able to see all the amazing work these guys do to care for animals. We got to feed chickens/roosters, pat goats and learn more about how some of the animals came to reside at Edgar’s Mission. It was so peaceful and serene, and our tour guide did a fabulous job of engaging with the kids by asking them questions and teaching them in an age appropriate way.
The meat, dairy and egg industry treat these gorgeous animals as commodities rather than living, breathing, feeling creatures. Please support Edgar’s Mission, they truly deserve it, and your support means they can continue their fantastic work.
Larissa M — Google review
This is a place that briefly restores your faith in humanity, and that maybe we can finally get to a point where animals aren't commodities.
The animals (deservedly) have a great life here and some of them very obviously love all the attention they get from the tour groups, many have figured out head butts and leaning into legs gets them pats and cuddles 🤣 it was a great tour, and I liked that the staff were very clear in terms of letting the animals approach us and being respectful of the ones that don't really love humans yet, this isn't a money grabbing scheme where they let you play with the animals as a free for all.
Thank you guys for running such a kind and wonderful place, I'm hoping I can come back soon.

I’d wanted to visit Edgar’s Mission for the longest time so I had pretty high expectations, which were all well and truly surpassed. From the moment we arrived we could feel that this place had the most loving and caring vibe, and that the animals were now living their best lives. It was a few hours of absolute pure joy. Thanks to Daniel, our awesome tour guide, and to founder Pam. I highly recommend everyone book a tour to Edgar’s Mission, it was the best day.

The love and compassion they show for the animals they rescue and the quality of care they provide for them are amazing. The staff are passionate and you could tell from the tour we did that they work/volunteer there for the love of the sanctuary and it's animals.
You must visit here if you are in the area as it will not disappoint.

Loved our tour of the sanctuary with Daniel. The immensity of the love and respect Edgar’s Mission show to all animals was super moving. An amazing place doing incredibly noble work. The animals all have the most beautifully kept homes and rolling paddocks and it was so nice to get to join them and interact. Got kissed on the lips a LOT by Trapper John 🐐💋 Very inspired and hopeful to become a volunteer one day.

Edgar's Mission's is one of those lights that gives me hope for the present and future peace and harmony for all life. Their unlimited kindness and humanity for non-human beings is inspiring and makes me so proud to be a vegan. Our tour guide Emma, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about all things Edgar's Mission and animal welfare and treatment. Our walk through was perfect, I wish I could have stayed all day. The day was very interactive and animals were super friendly, it was a great way to reconnect with nature and the truly important aspects of life. The sanctuary is very clean and orderly, which shows the immense effort and love that goes into ensuring these beautiful creatures can live in absolute safety and tranquility. Looking forward to returning to Edgar's Mission, hopefully as part of the team!

This is one of my favourite places and I’ve loved every visit. This was my first stay in one of their Tiny Houses (we were in Edgar’s Cottage) and can genuinely say it was one of the most peaceful and soul filling weekends I’ve had in a while. The stay included a 90min tour (our tour guide was Lauren and she was fantastic), the ability to wander the farm and interact with the beautiful rescued animals was heaven. Each with their own story, worthy of telling.
The houses are exactly as the name reflects and it totally works. Friends stayed next door (Timmy’s Villa) which was equally adorable.
The interiors are beautifully thought out and little touches with the decors (themed to suit their namesakes) topped it off.
It was awesome to be able to spend the weekend on this incredible place. Running in to Pam and Ruby was the perfect way to finish off a brilliant weekend. Thankyou!
If you aren’t able to stay, make sure you at least get up there for one of their tours!

What an incredible place! We took part in the premium tour and it was wonderful. Many of the animals interacted with us and they were so beautiful. It was such a joyous day and we will definitely be back.

My partner and I were lucky enough to be able to stay in the tiny homes over New Year's Eve, as both of us are avid lovers and supporters of Edgar's Mission it was a dream come true for us both.
The tiny home itself was a perfect relaxing little capsule which contained all of the comforts of modern living, it was top notch from the amenities to the views we had outside.
The biggest highlight was of course the free time we were able to spend wandering the sanctuary, we were out and about every day sometimes multiple times for multiple hours just taking in the sanctuary and all its denizens. From the staff to the animals themselves the entire property just radiates with love and care for all creatures great and small.
If I could rate Edgar's Mission higher than 5 stars I would, for they are one of my favourite places on earth.
We cannot wait to be back!
Werribee Open Range Zoo is a family-friendly zoo with an African safari theme that is close to Melbourne. It offers visitors the chance to see African giraffes and zebras on safari tours, as well as other animals such as lions, monkeys, and hippos. There are also several walking trails available for exploring.
Great zoo to visit for a day trip! There’s just enough animals to see for a day and there’s cafes to get a drink and snacks too. Really cool to be able to go on the trailer through the open range zoo and see some animals fairly close. Definitely want to come again and bring my child when she’s older.

Great day out. We went on the regular safari. It was great, and we purchased tickets for the Felix safari, which was the same just you go off road and get closer photos up close with the animals. Both were awesome.
Safari in the afternoon 2:30 was cold so pack jackets.
The kids really enjoyed the zoo ages 3-9, so a great family day out.
Food was very reasonable, so we had breakfast and lunch at the zoo, and cheaper than eating elsewhere.

The experience of this zoo is truly enjoyable. You can discover that they have incorporated many clever ideas to enhance the fun while strolling through the zoo. The safari experience is decent, although its quality can vary depending on the weather and your luck. However, since it's included in the ticket price, there's no reason to complain. I believe opting for the deluxe safari might be a great choice as it allows you to get closer to the wildlife.

Slumber Safari @ Werribee Zoo was an amazing experience for the family. This place offered a camping experience of being in a tent with all your personal amenities one needs for camping. After settling into our family tent we grouped together and went on a night walk of the zoo. Followed by a nice warm meal and hot chocolate by the outdoor open fire. The next day followed by a private tour of the zoo and a close experience with the rhinoceros and giraffes in the savannah. Highly recommend, lots of great fun for families.

This was a fantastic experience for my kids. They enjoyed seeing the various animals The zoo was huge with lots of open area for the animals to roam freely. The tram ride was the highlight which was relaxing and the guide was very informative. The park trail was also a fun experience as we got to interact with the roaming animals. Overall, it was a good and fun experience for the family. I will strongly recommend this as a must visit place where you will need at least 2-3 hours to enjoy the various zones thoroughly.

The most amazing zoo I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. The animal enclosures were massive which enabled them to live as they would in a natural environment. All enclosures were clean and well looked after. The safari bus tour was a must do, so informative and such a fantastic experience. So much to do with the kids and the park itself was spotless. A must do!

Great few hours out with the family. The safari bus tour was really good fun and informative. We had a sunny day so the animals were out and easy to see. Took a 7 yo and 10 yo who loved seeing the bigger animals really closely and in an area where they can roam a lot more free than the usual city zoos. This zoo is more so about getting the animals a safe and large space to live a good life and us humans can see them, other zoos have a large attraction feel to them with smaller enclosures so we see more animals all the time.

Werribee Open Range Zoo is an amazing place to visit. The animals are well cared for and the habitats are beautiful. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The animal encounters are amazing and give you an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the animals. The self-guided safaris are great for families and there is something for everyone. The safari buses are great for getting around the zoo and the walking trails are well maintained. The food options are great too and there are plenty of places to eat. All in all, Werribee Open Range Zoo is an amazing place to visit and a great day out for the whole family. Highly recommended!

Go! Deluxe Safari tour was definitely worth it. Close enough to shake 🐾! Welcoming & friendly staff everywhere! Lots of great picnic areas and cafes. The entire Zoo truly captures the African vibe esp with the live drumming, fun dancing, face painting etc. My favourite hands down is the Ethiopian coffee ceremony. To sit & enjoy hot coffee with popcorn & bread was amazing. Definitely coming back! Favourite animal visit was 🦏 🦍🦓🦛! Looking forward to the completion of renovations etc… 🐘 are coming!🎉
Gift shop is great with reasonable prices.

Highlight of my trip! Our guide Georgia was so knowledgeable! I purchased the Deluxe Safari and this is well worth it. The general public bus was provided and included in admission, but was a large bus that held about 100 people, including many children (not for me), and because of the size of the bus, it could only stay on the road. Our deluxe safari bus only had 9 people, and we were able to drive off road right to see the animals.. We were just a few metres away from all the giraffes, rhinos, ostriches and zebras. 5 stars for sure!!

An incredible experience at Werribee Zoo! The open-range concept made me feel like I was on a real safari. The safari tour was a highlight – getting close to giraffes and rhinos was unforgettable. The zoo's commitment to conservation is inspiring. Friendly staff, well-maintained, and perfect for families. A must-visit for nature lovers!

Come early and do the safari in the morning and afternoon. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic. Huge props to Aaron the tour guide and the lady dressed as a lion. The food is nice and sitting by the meerkats is a treat. Stay all day and take your time to see all the animals. Fantastic visit.

You HAVE to do the Safari experience when you go here. I found that the most interesting animals outside of the Safari were either hidden away, inactive, or just not there. Pretty cool to have an Emu pop out of the bushes right next to you and casually walk past while you freak out a bit. But Safari is where it's at! Super cool tour guides there too that keeps it extra interesting and lay down some great jokes.

This is such a fun zoo to visit. Great to bring the families, school groups or for work functions (which is what we did).
We played a scavenger hunt game and had so much fun seeing the animals and learning lots.
The safari is definitely a highlight and a must do to get up close to some beautiful creatures.
The staff are all passionate and highly educated in conservation and protection.
Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun corporate event you look here for something different.

5 stars for the bride's assistant; Andy. She was attentive, helpful, patient and very caring. The couple were very happy, same with the wedding ceremony and reception guests. The other staff were great too.
But for me, this was the first time I had visited the Werribee Zoo, and I don't know.... I was expecting more. Maybe the standard I had in mind was Melbourne Zoo, which is beautiful, lush and meticulously maintained. But Werribee Zoo... not so much.
Kaiwin Yeung — Google review
Excellent up close experiences with some of the most popular animals. Zoo staff have excellent animal knowledge and are happy to be asked questions. There are daily keeper talks scheduled and it’s possible to cruise the zoo and listen to all the talks, which were informative and focused heavily on the zoo’s conservation efforts. The zoo safari was a highlight. Animal encounters are not guaranteed as the zoo is big on animals behaving naturally and having choice about where they graze and interact. However, when we went we had several animals right next to our bus. There are free water fountains dotted around the park, so bring a reusable bottle to fill up. The cafe offers all the usual foods you would expect and a coffee hatch is also available for quick pot stops.

Safari bus tour was definitely a highlight! It's free with normal entrance ticket and leaves often so you don't have to wait for long. Would recommend seeing the hippos in the morning as they go into the water during the hotter times of the day and hard to get a good look at them when they're under the water.

I have visited Werribee zoo a few times and always had a great time with my family. I specially like the safari ride within the zoo. There are lot of kids play areas which keeps the kids busy and they love it. Loved taking pictures around few areas are upgraded with new outlets. Have a full day planned if you want to enjoy everything it has. Cafes and dining options are there to keep you going. Would suggest early in the day as it gets really crowded as the day progresses.

We went to two times while school holiday.
Great place for kids
Exciting with animals better then city zoo animals ;)))
City animals looks tired 😴 Haha
Range zoo so much better.
Real safari;)))
Safari bus is great experience with kids.
One thing, some kids scary for safari bus and looking animals. Your kids doesn’t want to take safari bus, please just don’t get in. Even do not try for adults.
It’s disturbing for driver’s explanations and noise and loud for others families.
With membership is so special;))
Without waiting and quick entry is of course. When you got membership card, kids love it 😍 why? Just join then you can know that ;)).
Thank you for Werribee zoo staff too.
They are kind and zoo keepers is friendly looks so special for kids and adults too.

The zoo really touts the safari which is completely wheelchair accessible and pretty cool. The only thing is there aren't many animals to see, about 7-8. The rest of the zoo is pretty small. Great for children and really appreciated the open range experience. As always with a zoo the earlier you arrive the better.

I love this zoo. I have visited it two times, definitely will visit again. I wish it was close to the city.
There is a free safari bus inside the zoo. A long queue, unless you are a very lucky person, you most likely need to wait around 15-20. But, it is very worth it. I recommend you to ride the safari bus.

I've been a Zoos Victoria member for over 10 years, and Werribee Zoo never gets boring! It's a short drive from the surrounding suburbs, which means that there is minimal traffic and it's usually easy to find parking spaces. The cafes have great food, the overall environment is kept impeccable. But most importantly the wildlife, obviously monitored closely by dedicated keepers, have large enclosures also kept green by a horticulturist team.
I recommend this zoo for families with children, or anyone in general, as there are tons of entertaining and educational activities for everyone to enjoy (such as the safari bus, which is where you can view most of the animals at one time). It's clear that this zoo values the protection and conservation efforts of wildlife, and visiting is what has made me want to become a zookeeper!

Now we know why everyone loves this zoo, fantastic. The staff are knowledgeable & helpful. The Safari was such a highlight - go at lunchtime!
So much to see & it's great to hear about all the conservation work happening. Plenty for the kids to do & enjoy. Definitely take swimmers for the water play area as this was lovely on a hot day.
Be warned - the gift shop is good & we left with enormous fluffy leopards 🤣🤣

Visiting Werribee Open Zoo was truly fascinating! It was a fulfilling experience, especially witnessing the animals roam freely and revel in their natural habitat. However, the size of the zoo seemed a bit overwhelming compared to the number of animals present, making it challenging to get up close and personal with them. Improving the guidance provided and increasing the number of zoo crew members could greatly enhance the overall experience for visitors.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Werribee Zoo and the highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the safari ride. This unique experience took me on an exhilarating journey through the zoo’s extensive grounds, offering close encounters with a variety of wildlife in a setting that closely mimics their natural habitats.
The safari ride was both educational and entertaining, providing insights into the lives of the animals we saw, including giraffes, zebras, and rhinos. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, making the tour not only informative but also a lot of fun. The animals seemed well-cared for and the vast open spaces they roamed in were impressive.
For those looking for an even more enhanced experience, I highly recommend booking the deluxe safari in advance. This premium option offers a more intimate and personalized tour, allowing for closer views and more detailed information about the wildlife and the zoo’s conservation efforts.
The rest of Werribee Zoo also didn’t disappoint, with well-maintained paths, friendly staff, and a variety of animals to see. However, the safari ride is a must-do – it’s an incredible way to immerse yourself in the wild and witness the majesty of these animals up close. It’s an experience that both adults and children will find enjoyable and memorable.
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning wildlife enthusiast, Werribee Zoo’s safari ride is a fantastic way to spend a day out, surrounded by the wonders of nature.
Notes:
Parking can be full so expect a walk in peak hours.
More bins around the park would be nice.

Amazing zoo for family, friends and everyone. Highly recommended you got to experience the safari bus to see for yourself those incredible animals in front of your eye, that close to you. And today our guy is Leo to explain those animals knowledge and culture for us. It’s an extra cost to do this but trust me, it’s worthwhile. And you will not regret it. ☺️

I did a Slumber safari - overnight stay and I loved the experience. They take you out for a twilight bus ride, evening walk around the park and couple of close wildlife encounters . The staff were really friendly, food was good and accommodation was good as well. It was a unique experience.

Honestly best zoo we have been to, so family friendly, throughout the entire zoo there is many play areas/ activities for the kids, even a splash pad which was very popular. Canteen inside also so no need to go to the bistro at the main entrance. Great service throughout the zoo. Definitely worth the visit and the entry price ticket includes a safari ride which is an awesome addition.

A really excellent experience, we went as two adults and found it exceed our expectations. The Deluxe Safari Adventure extra was also well worth the money and I would highly recommend this to adults and kids alike. As you can see from my photos - I saw a lot of great animals.

Werribee Zoo offers a pleasant day out for families and animal lovers alike. While it may not boast the extensive collection seen in some other zoos across Victoria, it still holds its own charm.
The highlight of the zoo experience is undoubtedly the bus safari, where visitors can get up close and personal with some magnificent creatures in a semi-wild environment. It's a unique and immersive experience that sets Werribee Zoo apart.
However, outside of the safari, the variety of animals on display is somewhat limited compared to other zoos in the area. Nevertheless, the zoo still manages to offer an enjoyable experience, especially for younger visitors.
Overall, Werribee Zoo is worth a visit, particularly if you're looking for a family-friendly outing. While it may not be a destination for frequent visits, it certainly makes for a memorable one-time experience.

What a lovely few hours at the Open Range Zoo today, we all loved it, especially the Deluxe Safari as it got you close with fewer people and good commentary.
If you live close enough a Yearly Pass is a great idea.
I thought the animal enclosures were well thought out with them having plenty of space. Great to see.
The new elephant enclosure will be a real benefit to the zoo.

Werribee Open ranges is a great experience, especially with younger kids with the free safari bus! You get to see animals right up next to bus. It is definitely a whole day trip location and they allow you to bring your own food to have a picnic lunch. There are plenty of places (benches and soft grass) to have lunch. Plenty of great photo opportunities as you can see here!

Haven’t been for ~15+ years and the zoo has grown, the safari is fantastic with around 10 minute waits and massive safari busses. The staff were polite and love what they do, all very chirpy for working on a public holiday and great with kids. Great experience and the moving Dino’s are on the loose 🦖
Great walk but this car park is currently inaccessible due to road closures - detour via Western Treatment Plant is a private road with restricted access.
Make sure you park at Weribee Park Mansion instead! Don't waste following a non-existent detour like I did.

Went last week for a wine tasting and lunch. Unfortunately they didn't have enough staff on to permit the wine tasting which was quite disappointing (it was operating at the time with another group but no other staff available to assist us). We stayed for lunch which was very good ... more quality restaurant than cafe ... and the service was also very good.

As residents of the Adelaide Hills, we are often spoilt for choice when it comes to wineries offering dining.
So you can only imagine how stoked we were to find Scotchmans Hills during our visit to Geelong's and it's surroundings.
The first thing you'll notice upon arrival is vast views that even boasts a stunning panorama of Melbourne city.
Our server Abbie was the perfect example of a hospitality tripple threat hahaha.
With thorough wine knowledge, sincere customer focus and an overall enthusiasm for her job, Abbie was a fundamental reason for why our day was so wonderful.
When it came to food & wine, our table didn't hold back. With Bubbles, Chardonnay and Museum release 2006 Pinot flowing freely, Scotchmans Hills vino had our pallets singing.
The Chefs offerings did what amazing cuisine should do at a winery, and that is compliment and lift the notes the wine maker worked so hard to develop.
We can't say enough about our time spent here. It is a day our family won't soon forget.
Thank you Tim & Team

Amazing view overlooking the vineyard with Port Phillip bay right behind it and the city of Melbourne in the distance. The vineyard sets the mood for the wine tasting and the views are just breathtaking. On top of that the staff is super knowledgeable and beyond personable.
If you see a gentleman named Mark there I highly recommend meeting him. He is very educated with the grapes in the surrounding area and many other regions in other countries. Plus he was just a great guy that was fun to talk to.

The place was so quaint and the weather was nice and mild that it just added to the ambience.
Abbey was so warm and helpful that it made the experience better. She was very knowledgeable and gave us some colour to the history of the place and each wine, vintage and brand we tasted as well.
We had lunch and that was such a delight as well. Lots of options and they all looked good. The bistro was quiet enough for a nice lunch even if there were groups of people around too. They set the venue up well.

We had lunch at the restaurant on the day before New Year’s Eve. The waitress we had (I wish I grabbed her name) was simply amazing and made what would have been a nice experience regardless a truly lovely and enjoyable one. The food was delicious and nicely portioned. Oh and the Syrah, which we were lucky enough to sample, was beautiful. Will be going back again!
The only negative, and it’s not a reflection on the staff, food or experience, is that the bottles of wine we purchased at the restaurant with lunch are anywhere from almost 1/2-3/4 the price for the same bottles on their website.

We went there for a drink. The lady who ‘greeted us’ was very abrupt. We were then made to sit down below with no view, even though we had asked to sit up top to enjoy the view (there were clearly lots of free tables available and continued to be during our time there)
We were made to feel unwelcome and this is not the first time this has happened. We have been there twice before and had very similar experiences. Won’t be going there again and luckily we won’t have to as there are many other lovely and inviting wineries in the area.
Oh and the road to Scotchmans Hill winery is so dangerous, I wouldn’t bother going there.

We stopped in for a wine tasting today and came away with about $500 worth of wine. Mark was very personable and accommodating, and obviously very knowledgeable about not just the Scotchmans Hill wines, but wines and wine production in general. He clued in pretty quickly that we had some knowledge and experience ourselves, and so didn’t talk down to us. Mark did a great job of curating the tasting selection to our tastes. We had to cut things a bit short due to a lunch booking elsewhere, but it was a very good wine tasting experience. We will have to come back sometime to try lunch here.

I was given a red balloon voucher for my birthday and so I decided to use it on a beautiful day today with my partner. We loved that we can bring our little puppy along to enjoy the beautiful scenery. We were greeted and shown to our table - the lady did advise that they were incredibly short staffed and that service may be slower than usual which we completely understood as these things can happen. At our table we noticed on the table cards, the ones with vouchers had a red balloon voucher were red and those who didn’t had a white one - I’m unsure why as I’m sure we could have ordered some items off the regular menu had we wanted to. We were given two menu’s - but not a wine-list. When the lady came to take our order, she proceeded to find us a wine list but didn’t explain any of the wines available - when attending a winery I always appreciate some information on the different wines and any recommendations. We ordered and a lovely cheese board arrived which we loved! The garlic and herb dip was to die for!! Our pizzas then took a long time to arrive and we felt forgotten about at times - the staff - they did tend to larger tables more than the smaller tables. The pizza arrived and they were lovely. We seen a staff member delivering food from the kitchen and asked if we could order a cola - this young man said no sorry you’ll need to go inside as I’m busy. We felt that wasn’t very good customer service but I understand when the pressure is on it is very hard. We waited another 20 minutes to grab another staff members attention to ask for this and then waited 20 minutes for the cola to arrive. When food arrived there was no grace, it was plopped down on a table and the waitress walked away instantly without even a ‘is there anything else I can get you?’. The experience was lovely, the food was beautiful but the service definitely let the experience down as a whole. Myself and my partner agreed we aren’t sure we would return for this reason.

Upon arrival was greeted with the most beautiful view of the vineyards and the cutest little bistro dining area! once entering my cottage I was taken back by how thoughtful the staff were to have put my heater on so when I got here my room wasn’t cold. The cottage in itself is drop dead gorgeous and remarkably clean and neat. I was provided fresh milk, Eggs and orange juice which truly does go above and beyond. The cottage is super homey and I’m so sad I’m only staying the one night! I would 100% recommend staying here! Thank you to the staff!

Not sure why this place gets so many stars but it was not very good. The staff are not that friendly….. a warm welcome and a bit of caring attention wouldn’t go astray! The wine was drinkable but not great and the worst of all the food (pizza) was small, way over cooked and smothered in cheese like a very cheap take away. Location next to a brown pond was ok saved by baby ducks playing in the water. Could be a lot better with a bit of care and the right staff.

Lunch at the winery with our Red Balloon vouchers. We had some difficulty with the internet connection and our vouchers, yet nothing was too much trouble for the delightful staff at Gisborne Peak Winery. Lunch was delicious and we were so very appreciative of their wonderful service. Lunch was unhurried and we were able to relax and enjoy our wine and meal, followed by a lovely coffee. Such a pleasant experience.

Didn’t stay here but have the best experience with their admin team! My booking was canceled due to statewide lockdown last year and it was through Red balloon. Red balloon cancelled the booking but didn’t credit the voucher back on the account. I called on Sunday afternoon on a long weekend and Barbara called me back straight away to sort out everything! Very impressive service! I will definitely try to rebook here again!

Nice cosy place with food that’s okay but I guess that’s the only positive about this place. 3 of us walked in for lunch and as I walked up to one of the staff member to ask for a table she rudely asked if I have a reservation. I say rude because of the tone she used, as if to imply the place was hell busy. Note that there were only 6 tables filled hence I don’t understand why she needed to ask me that question. Also note when we left an hour later the same number of tables were filled so that compounds my confusion.
Also, the fish and chips was ordered and I believe it’s completely normal to ask the wait staff the type of fish they serve. The same lady got agitated and answered me with “ look I really wouldn’t be able to tell because we just use what’s delivered to us” - once again, she was extremely rude. And her reply left me bemused. You surely can tell the type of fish that is delivered to you by your supplier unless you use frozen ones which are already battered. Or maybe she could have politely excused herself and asked the kitchen staff if she didn’t have a clue. Oh well.. complete lack of pride in her work.
Plain lazy service. Won’t be returning.

Stayed for three nights in the cottage. Perfectly clean, cosy and private. Quiet and relaxing. Breakfast provisions were ample. Lovely hot shower. All the creature comforts. No oven or stove, however frying pan and microwave, so made some great meals. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wild life beautiful. If you want to disconnect do visit. The reception is intermittent, so if this bothers you then go into town if you must. Otherwise enjoy been away from
It all.

We have been to this winery a few times before as we are local and thought the location and setting is lovely.
It was my first Mother’s Day and we wanted to go somewhere nice with my mum and brother and families for lunch.
We saw they had a set menu for $70 a head and $25 for children aged 3-7
My baby is 8 weeks old and my niece and nephew 3 and 6
We were told $25 deposit. Until we saw my card was debited $25 pp including the two children!
My brother got covid the day of Mother’s Day so we called first thing only to speak to the owner who was completely defensive telling me we had lost the deposit and we had lost her two seats.
We still went to the venue and were put in a tent with every other family with a child.
For $70 a head the food was terrible. There was a tasting platter at the start which was ok, then the pizzas were worse than frozen pizzas from coles. There was no desert menu, we were told they could just bring us a selection. The coffee machine was apparently broken and you had to make coffee yourself.,
The service was rushed and we were extremely disappointed.
I then proceeded to pay. I wasn’t asked how the food was, I was greeted with you lose $100 for the people that didn’t come. (Including a 3 and 6 year old) disgusting.
Never once was I asked if my family was ok due to the illness or happy Mother’s Day.
This is my first restaurant review, I understand there may be a defensive return but I wouldn’t go to this restaurant if you’re looking for good service and good food. The staff were nice but I believe I dealt with the owner
The total of our lunch for 4 adults and a bottle of wine was $422. You could get much more value for money and empathy elsewhere. This was a shared grazing board, small pizza, drink and dessert and bottle of wine.
This is an honest review so people are aware before booking.

Husband and I just had a beautiful visit to Gisborne Peak, on a Red Balloon voucher.
On an useasonally cold and wet summers day, we were seated inside watching the rain fall over the lake.
We had amazing service from our hostess Lynn, who was so welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent, and we were offered to have our second pizza cooked to take home as we would never had fitted it in with the share platter, the glass of wine each, plus the delicious desserts and coffee!
The tasting platter included very generous cheese portions and a delightful creamy dipping sauce, and the freshly baked bread was amazing!
We chose the BBQ chicken pizza which was tasty and piping hot. For our 'take home' pizza, we chose the Tuscan, which we enjoyed for dinner that night.
The desserts were the perfect finish to our meal. My apple and rhubarb tart was so delicious, and husbands lemon tart hit the spot.
We highly recommend a visit to Gisborne Peak and trust that the new owners continue the good work when they take over soon.

We had a very relaxing, rejuvenating and lovely experience stay from Aug 7th to 9th 2023 at Gisborne Peak Winery. The cottage was really of good standards.Clean, welcoming and luxurious. Everything was well thought of. We loved the ambience and warmth. The wildlife was a wonderful bonus. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Travelled from Warrnambool to enjoy a 3 course lunch there.
Tasting plate followed by pizza and dessert. Food was so good but wasn’t able to fit in dessert so it came home with us. It was worth the wait to get it home too.
Beautiful spot despite the weather being so cold. Would be awesome in summer sitting outside.
I’d really like to mention a particular staff member, Lynn. Very professional and knowledgeable. She even provided us with a few extra crackers so our cheese wasn’t left on our platter to go to waste. She provided us with proper table service and chatted about the winery. Rare to find someone who speaks so passionately about the place they work.

Food was very disappointing. The pizza wasn't made on site and was suspiciously similar to a Mc Cain 2 pack for $5 frozen pizza. Would of been cheaper then 21 dollars. The platter was also disappointing i suspect the ham was from a primo pack. The salami was ok but it was literally 4 slices. There was a whole container of dip left out on a warm day which I suspect is the reason there's significant amounts of gas eminating from my rectum. Please hire an experienced pizza maker and make use of those beautiful pizza ovens and you will avoid more bad reviews

Had a lunch date with the wife. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food came out in a timely manner. The food preparation was well prepared. The venue was very clean and warm on the cold day. The wine was potent. I'm a one glass screamer. Lol. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

I heard great reviews from the family that has attended this venue before (last Father’s Day 2022) it has seemed there is a change of owner ship and I was actually disappointed in the service, food quality and the whole experience in general. We had a table of 8 (2 kids 3 + 5) my partner and I were greeted nicely and we were seated waiting for our family to arrive another staff member came and asked is we just sat our selves and I explained no we didn’t we’re just waiting for other members. The food was edible but that’s about it. Mother in law is fructose intolerant and we explained to the waitress who said that it’s no issue they don’t have garlic or onion on their Hawaiian pizza or even in the sauce. Now anyone with an allergy should have their food prepared with clean utensils and a change of gloves ect (I run a bistro myself and know all the rules). We ordered a shared platter at the start about 1:30 when it came out it was the smallest and most disappointing platter especially for a large $45+ per person platter only good thing was the bread. We waited about 2,5 hours for staff to start cooking the pizzas for the kids (we ordered about 2pm) we also ordered the fructose intolerance pizza (Hawaiian) the kids margarita came out first then the (FI) Hawaiian and straight away mother in law was sick and unable to eat it. They didn’t take it seriously and cross contaminated the untensils with that pizza which we specified that can’t happen. Fast forward to about 3:30 we’re still waiting for the main pizzas to come out and they were the exact same size as the kids your paying 12.50 for a kids pizza and 22-25 for a main one that are the same size. I’d not waste my time ordering a main one and just get kids ones. The staff weren’t attentive and I’d like to give them another chance but at this moment it looks like I wouldn’t return or recommend to anyone. The venue itself looked ran down and not very appealing.

Average....very average.
Sunny Saturday afternoon. Booked for 2 people and a high chair. Apparently all the high chairs were in use so we didn't get one for our 15 month year old. We did book one in but they 'overbooked' them and couldnt take them off someone else!!
Staff were the least pleasant people I've come across. No greeting. No smile. No warmth.
A little smile when taking our payment wouldn't kill you or 'hey, how was everything '.
Your pizzas were average and when walking around with our child, we realised why. Big freezer out the side and all pizzas sitting in there, ready made and frozen. Bought in. Not even their own wood fire pizzas!!!!!!!!. You cannot charge the amount you do for pizzas that are frozen and then put on the woodfire.
Wine is good. Thats the only saving grace- although even then... my partners glass was smaller than mine.
Wont be back. Very dissapointing. I'd suggest you don't bother wasting ur time, money, and effort. Especially on a Saturday afternoon before fathers day.
P.s. it looks like it needs a good Reno or at least some things cleaned up around the place- maybe a tip run?

Sacred prehistoric volcanic rock formation known for its unusual shapes & distinctive ridges.
One of my favourite places for visit this year. Not very far from Melbourne and has a plenty of open spaces for family gathers, a bit of hiking and exploring and a cafee to enjoy hot or cold drinks.
I would recommend installing some BBQ areas throughout the open spaces to spread the visitors and avoid gatherings.

Kids loved it 🥰 it was bit hot 🔥 as it was a 38 degrees day. Best time to hike on a hot day is like 9 am as soon as they open the place👍
Must take water bottle with you water bottle.

Amazing place with gorgeous views. Did the Creek Walk and the Summit Walk. Creek Walk is just a walk around the Race course, you cross a tiny creek towards the very end of the walk which is right next to the parking area. It was a nice stroll and we saw two large groups of kangaroos and wallabies. So not completely disappointing but nothing compared to the Summit Walk.
The Summit Walk, as anyone can guess, is the main walk that takes you to the summit. Thigh the Summit is not very clear, once you reach at the top there a couple of huge boulders that can compete for the summit. The walk itself is not very difficult, a bit steep in places. You do have the option to take steps for some part is the walk. We took the steps on the way up and the path on the way down. The actual "Hanging Rock" is on the way through the steps. Though it is visible from the walking path as well, but can easily be missed.
There is a cafe there which is pretty good. A couple of toilet blocks, quite a few bbqs and lots of parking space.

Hmmmm... Unsolved mystery around Hanging Rock. A story that never will know what actually happened, a place where keeps the mystery for itself. A part of that, the Hanging Rock can offer a lot as a lovely walk to climb it and spectacular views! It has a few BBQ areas for picnic, perfect place to spend the weekend with family and friends. Operation hours are until 5 pm which is plenty of time. A small observatory gives the chance to learn more for the place and acknowledge. Just visit it and will not be disappointed!

Amazing lookout, surreal experience of being inside the setting of the famous tale (Picnic at Hanging Rock). Amazing geological formation and great hike up to the top, wish it closed a bit later to enjoy the evening there but otherwise fantastic place.

It was surreal to be inside the famous "Picnic at Hanging Rock". An ideal day trip location. The rocks are amazing. Beautiful area for a day trip. The park closes at 5 pm
Since the path is steep, the summit walk does take some time. Take extra care when the path is wet after rain. During your walk to the summit, make sure to carry some snacks and water.

Being only an hour out of Melbourne, this is a nice day trip for a mini hike and play on the rocks.
Whilst it is not posted, the elderly should avoid going up via the stairs section..
On the day we saw many older people struggling up the hill and then looking to use the stairs unknowingly that it is the harder route.
Good views from the top.
It was extremely busy on the weekend.
Great place to have a BBQ.

Nice hike with family or friends. We have gone in Winter and Summer, must say enjoyed better when its colder. There's a cafe, a little museum and toilets at the foot of the climb. Many bbq spots for a picnic after the climb.
View from the top is mesmorising, We spent about 2 hours.
Plenty of parking. There's an entry fee for every car.

A great place to hike especially it’s an old volcano that last exploded 6 million years ago. Have a small museum at the bottom to tell you the history of this hanging rock. It took us about 1 hour and 30 min to hike, take picture and sightseeing. A very good experience as it’s not that hard to hike.

A beautiful place to visit and also check how fit you are.
This place has lots of parking and you do not need to think once while you enter.
The car park actually goes around and if you can’t see parking at the start then keep driving forward and you’ll find lots of other places to park the car.
Few of the toilets were there in case.
Good place for family picnic.
Got some small area for little one to play around and younger one can enjoy their soccer or footy 🏉.
Drinking water facility was there in case you need to refill your water bottle.
Couple of things to know about the place when you visit there.
The place looks really beautiful once you reach at the top of the rocks.

Beautiful place to visit especially during late spring or early summer. Nice nature walk up the sleeping volcano. I was lucky to get a view of a passing kangaroo family. A pair of shoes with a good grip is a must as the rock could be slippery due to rain. Quite an experience.

🧺Plenty of space to picnic with family and friends.
🥾I recommend wearing appropriate shoes for the hiking, some rocks are slippery and the ramp and stairs are not very safe without proper shoes or boots. 🧗When you reach the top you’ll find an amazing and beautiful view and peace.

Hanging Rock is a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking an easy and enjoyable hike with the added bonus of breathtaking rock formations and panoramic views in every direction. The trail is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, making it a perfect choice for families and friends alike.
My only qualm, which prevents me from giving this location a full five stars, is that there is an entrance fee to access the park. Additionally, during my visit, the park was unfortunately closed due to a power outage. While I understand that certain facilities may require power, I found it puzzling that this would affect the ability to hike up Hanging Rock itself.
Nonetheless, I highly recommend Hanging Rock for anyone looking to experience nature's beauty through an accessible and rewarding hike.

Hanging Rock is a geological formation located in the Macedon Ranges, approximately 70 kilometers northwest of Melbourne, Australia. It is a popular tourist destination for its unique rock formations and surrounding bushland.
The main attraction at Hanging Rock is the rock formation itself, which is a series of concentric basalt columns that rise up to 100 meters in height. The columns are formed from the cooling of molten lava and are said to be over 300 million years old.
Visitors to Hanging Rock can hike to the top of the formation for stunning views of the surrounding countryside. There are also a number of walking trails that wind through the bushland, passing by waterfalls and other scenic spots.
In addition to its natural beauty, Hanging Rock is also steeped in history and folklore. The Aboriginal people of the area have a number of stories about the rock, and it is believed to be a sacred site. In the 19th century, Hanging Rock was the site of a number of mysterious disappearances, which have been the subject of much speculation and intrigue.
Today, Hanging Rock is a popular tourist destination for both locals and visitors from all over the world. It is a place to enjoy the natural beauty of the Macedon Ranges, learn about the Aboriginal culture and history of the area, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of the elusive Hanging Rock "spirits".
Here are some things to keep in mind when visiting Hanging Rock:
The best time to visit is during the spring or autumn, when the weather is mild.
Wear comfortable shoes, as there is a fair bit of walking involved.
Bring water and snacks, as there are no facilities at the top of the rock formation.
Be aware of the weather conditions and dress accordingly.
Respect the natural environment and leave no trace.
Overall, Hanging Rock is a beautiful and fascinating place to visit. It is a great place to enjoy the outdoors, learn about Aboriginal culture and history, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of the elusive Hanging Rock "spirits".

Vigorous but not too bad walk up to the “summit” although the hour we spent could have been extended if it had been cooler and we had water. Got a little sunburned! We went on a Monday afternoon outside of school holidays, I suspect it would be horribly busy otherwise. Nice views!

Nature’s wonder! What a great hike!! We went with kids 6/9 years old and had incredible time hiking. The track is well maintained and moderately hard. The views are great and 🪨 rocks look stunning. Such a great marvel to enjoy. Water, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses 🕶️ are a must! We had a small bag pack so our hands we were totally hands free but saw some people struggling with stuff in hand. Bag packs are very handy. We saw a few lizards 🦎 and hedgehogs 🦔 Hike is for little older kids I would say like 4 and above. Saw some parents struggling with strollers definitely not a stroller hike. But all in all amazing rocks with great views and nice hike!

I would highly recommend hanging rock to anyone looking for a relaxing and scenic day trip.

We started 2024 off with a beautiful hike to Hanging Rock on the New Year Day!
The entry fee stung a bit. It was higher($25 each) than usual ($14) as there was a race event.
Walk to the summit is not a walk in the park, so grab some supportive shoes and carry a bottle of water. The trek took about an hour and the stunning view from the summit is worth every bead of sweat. If you are looking for a scenic adventure with a bit of holiday buzz, Hanging Rock’s got your back (and legs) covered. Happy trails, everyone!

First visit to this botanical garden. It is a compact but full of variety of flora in this garden. Most of plants, flowers and shrubs cam be found here. However, as i m not a botanist, i may be wrong. Surely, it is dilligently arranged based by climatic zone. It also has temperature controlled room for tropical one. Tho, it has less green area to sit down and picnic inside the garden but outside, it has plenty room. 2 car parks on the side of enterance door.
Surely it is recommended for anyone including for relaxation and learning even just jogging.

Beautiful, well kept botanical gardens with lots of small paths and areas to sneak off to and see the beautiful birds and butterflies that are attracted to the area. I would advise picking up the map so you can check out the special plants that are there - I can't remember exactly, but there's a good number of heritage listed trees that are worth seeing just because you may find it hard to see them elsewhere! A giant redwood (Sequoia) is one of the areas, which is definitely worth seeing as well as a plant that looks like it's being chained to the ground - I don't remember what it's called but it looks impressive and I've definitely never seen one before!
A bonus is that entrance is free and there is a small outdoor cafe that I assume is open seasonally (?) - sadly it wasn't open when I was visiting. It also wasn't crowded when I visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. With its location so close to the waterfront, it's worth visiting if you're in the area to take a break or just to see the butterflies!

Visiting Eastern Beach is a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. The serene environment and the refreshing sea breeze create an atmosphere that is both invigorating and tranquil, providing a unique blend of sensations.
From the top of Eastern Beach, one can appreciate the beauty of Geelong from a perspective that is both awe-inspiring and panoramic. The view from this vantage point is truly splendid.
What sets Eastern Beach apart is the tranquility it exudes. The surroundings are calm and cool, making it an oasis of serenity amidst the bustling city. Unlike some places, it is notably free from excessive noise.
It's also worth noting that the people who frequent Eastern Beach are genuine and friendly, which adds to the overall appeal of this wonderful destination. All in all, Eastern Beach is a hidden gem where one can experience the beauty of nature and the warmth of genuine human interactions.

We had our wedding photos taken here. The Carousel was closed for the day due to staff shortages, but they called to let us know, so we wouldn't panic. Leah was amazing to communicate with, making sure our day went off without a hitch. Thank you so much for making our day even more special!

First time visiting the foreshore of Geelong and were pleasantly surprised at how lovely a city it is nestled on the shoreline. Great restaurants and the barge fish and chips restaurant would have to be one of the best fish and chip meals I have ever had and so reasonable for a very large portion. We have decided to holiday here next year. Very impressed !

Visited the Carousel Geelong on the waterfront for the first time and it was an absolute delight! Nestled along the picturesque waterfront, this carousel is a hidden gem that offers endless fun for families, kids, and anyone who appreciates the beauty of these timeless attractions.
The carousel features beautifully crafted horses that add a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to the waterfront scenery. It's the perfect spot to create lasting memories with loved ones while enjoying a leisurely ride amidst the stunning backdrop of the waterfront.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem, and it quickly became a favorite spot for me and my family. Whether you're taking a spin on the carousel or simply admiring its charm from afar, the Carousel Geelong is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the waterfront area.
Highly recommend stopping by and experiencing the magic of the Carousel Geelong for yourself.
I’m planning to bring my nieces and nephew to appreciate this, reminds me of the one at z Melbourne Zoo. Who doesn’t love a classic carousel where you get to pick the perfect horse to sit on while you enjoy the carousel rotate!

My kids enjoyed the carousal but the security guard's behaviour was very bad. One of the 2 year kid was running back to the entrance to get out instead of exit, and the guard was very rude and harsh. How a 2 year old understand entry and exit??? A nice way to say things can be a good customer service...

Nice place to have an afternoon or evening walk. The pier has a nice view. Good fishing spots as well.
There is a place for kids with carousel. Good for birthday parties and photos. Few restaurants nearby.
All in all a good place to hangout with family.

Geelong waterfront is one of my favourite spots - take a walk along the waterfront and breath in the fresh air and feel the sea breeze.
Also, from now onwards to Christmas, there is also Christmas tree that lights up from 7.30 each night (I believe?)

Beautiful structure.
Extremely difficult to get to. Road is dirt and has not been fixed since almost washed away in last year’s floods. Huge broken pipe in the road and a very large ball of uprooted concrete.
Take care. And DON’T take your caravan down unless you are good at 8 point turns. 😳

Amazing to see the Viaduct up close – a little bit of old-world European engineering close to Melbourne. The stones are surprisingly large, so is the whole structure. Kids loved climbing all the way down to the water. There was a train that went along the top, we could hear it but not see it from the bottom.

The National Wool Museum in Geelong showcases the history and machinery of the Austrian wool industry through interactive exhibits and workshops. Visitors can learn about the fascinating stories and facts about Geelong's past, including its role in the wool trade. The museum also features a gift shop for souvenirs. For those less interested in museums, Little Creatures Brewery offers beer-making tours with informative sessions on the brewing process, as well as a tasty menu.
Great place. Exhibits well displayed and explained. The machines especially the huge carpet maker were amazing. Would have liked to see it in operation. This is absolutely a must visit in Geelong. Shop had many quality item with a 30% discount for mother’s day. You didn’t need to be a mother to qualify. Just having a mother was enough. 😊

Great summary of Australia's wool industry. Especially liked the kitchen space they created. It was like walking into your grandmothers kitchen and seeing all the pots, pans, stove, cutlery, storage containers and chairs all there right from the 50's. Has some other exhibitions are it which at the time we were there was a nature photo exhibition and a great light show.

A fun few hours of activities in here. There are interactive art exhibits for kids to play with on the top level for a limited time. The place itself is quite educational for those who wish to learn more about the history of wool industry in Victoria and its relationship with indigenous Australians. Takes around 1 to 1.5 hours in there.

Been here twice, have no idea that as a Deakin student, it’s free entry but if it’s from another campus it’s not. So when I came first time, I paid with a student rate. Then, when I came second time with friends, they paid and I didn’t not. Regardless, two times coming, two different experiences especially with diverse art exhibition projects they do on the first floor. I love history so definitely I will definitely say yes to coming back and having another visit!

Must visit! Apparently Geelong was one of the top producers of wool, this museum showcased the process of making the wool and history of Geelong wool. There is also a dedicated floor showcasing the best photography across the whole world. Particularly loved the 🌻 image. The entry is only $8 for adults and takes about an hour to see the whole museum’s. There’s also a cute little shop where you can the purchase some souvenirs too.

A well maintained museum which takes you through the history of Geelong’s wool making and weaving.
We were very happy to see it, and know about a piece of Australian history. We spent around 45min which is ok.
Note:
There are children play area where parents can leave their young ones (under own super vision of course). Lego blocks and a TV is there for them to enjoy.

Would be nice if they explain more on the different types of sheep.

If you’re in Geelong this is a gem to go and see. The museum takes you through the entire history of the CJ Dennys & Co Woolstore from its beginning, through to shearing machinery, living quarters, processing, and auctioning of the wool. The fit outs are so good that it feels like you are among the shearers. It’s a great family day out.

Interesting insight to the now almost disappeared Australian textile industry.
Staff are friendly and welcoming s as is the entry price is quite reasonable.

We put aside a half an hour for our visit, spent two hours.

Fantastic museum to spend 2 to 3 hours depending on your interests.
I went specifically for the wildlife photography (which is every year) but also very much enjoyed learning about the historical wool industry.
Nature area drawing daytrippers with hiking paths, climbing terrain, picnic spots & swimming holes.
Came here relatively early on a Sunday. Took the kids (5&6yo)
We ventured along the short circuit. The signs are easy enough to follow.
The area is absolutely beautiful and the terrain is easy. Some parts are up hill but nothing a picky bag or shoulder ride can’t fix for small legs.
I’d suggest starting anti clockwise, the entrance is through a gate just before the car park. However the bathrooms at the picnic car park are clockwise.
The bathrooms are long drops.
Definitely worth being snacks and enough hydration even on cooler days.
Sturdy footwear is required but sneakers will suffice.
Simi Batterham — Google review
Brilliant walk/trail. I suggest a certain level of fitness for the proper circuit walk however most people should be able to complete this walk. Bring plenty of hydration because it can be a 3.5 hour walk due to elevation etc, for the leisurely walkers. Can't speak for the short walk as we were too tired after the main circuit walk.
The rope climbing and minor rock face climbing was definitely fun! Can't recommend that enough!
Highly recommend! It's fun!
Rohan Kulkarni — Google review
Absolutely wow! It was so beautiful, even saw a wallaby. As a beginner, the trail wasnt too difficult. I loved all of the spots (needle beach, western lookout, the old farm, etc). 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Absolutely breathtaking views! Went on a hike with my team at Werribee Gorge National Park and we were blown away by the stunning scenery. The picnic area halfway through was a perfect spot to recharge and enjoy some snacks. The 9km hike in 2.5 hrs was quite strenuous, but the experience was definitely worth it. Highly recommend for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a rewarding challenge amidst nature's beauty.
Ushan Lokuge — Google review
It is a really fun trail. The rock crossing with the rope area is legendary fun. For most avid hiker, you wouldn’t need to use the rope. If you are bringing your younger children along, just guide them across it. Tell them it’s fun and watch them conquer the rock!
The climb can be a bit intense at some section but it doesn’t go on for too far.
I did 2 consecutive laps of the Werribee Gorge Circuit , clockwise and anticlockwise. Wasn’t that tiring and really enjoyed it.
Have fun!
Evo Tan (EVO) — Google review
This is a beautiful place with a long circuit walk that would take anywhere from 3-5 hours depending how fast you’d like to finish. Average speed with frequent rest will take around 3.5 hrs.
Accessible by any vehicle type.
Close to town if you need supplies.
Toilet available.
No drinking water.
Space available for camping.
No fire allowed.
You need to take enough supplies of drinking water and snacks if you’re doing the long walk.
It’s is a challenging track especially if water level is high (around May to Sep) as some rock face climbing is needed.
I would say a 6-7 out of 10.
Reza Ghulami — Google review
Challenging circuit walk for the inexperienced hiker but it's doable, and invigorating when achieved.
Beautiful, picturesque bushland. We saw Bunjil the eagle gliding through the warm air currents. Also saw a red lorikeet, a wallaby, a platypus ducking under the water, and a small lizard.
Long drop for toilet at the start of quarry picnic ground.
Mary Tobin — Google review
Visited Werribee Gorge state park recently and the walking tracks surprised me. We went for the short circuit walk and a part of the long circuit walk. The views are breaking and so are locations. Make sure you have trail shoes with you as the tracks are very steep or slant with smooth to gravel tracks.
SagaR Roy — Google review
We did the Short Circuit walk, which took us about 90 minutes and 6.22 kms. The views were amazing, the walk was amazing (sometimes challenging with the hills). We saw some kangaroos, wallabies and a llama. We aren't fit or unfit, but at certain times it was a challenge for us. But it was a rewarding challenge to see the views, wildlife and how far we walked. Definitely need good hiking shoes, water and long clothing for summer and snakes. The small problem we had was that there was limited signage, we weren't always sure we were following the short circuit path. About halfway we thought we had taken a wrong turn but there were some stairs hidden by some trees. If you have some spare time, the weather is good and you are comfortable walking for 90+minutes and 60 degrees inclined hills then I would recommend Werribee Gorge State Park. There are other walks you can do, which are longer and incorporate some of the Short circuit path. There are drop toilets along the way, but go before you start walking. We didn't see any playgrounds, the conditions aren't easy so not suitable for kids. Where we parked there was one picnic table, but that was it. There may be others around that we didn't see.
Matthew Torrington — Google review
Werribee Gorge circuit hike has to be my favourite day hikes from Melbourne. About an hour from the CBD. The track is well maintained, the circuit is (from memory) about 10km and it’s just a lot of fun! Not dog friendly and, be warned, a little bit of traversing rock! I’ve seen kids do it or even parents carrying kids across too. Just thinking it wouldn’t be possible for those with walking aids etc.
Alana Chrisomalidis — Google review
Beautiful hike - both a short and long circuit option. The hike says allow 4.5hours for the longer circuit, however we completed in around 2 hours and aren't experienced hikers. The entrance to the park doesn't have much signage, so google maps is key to finding your way.
Olivia Treg — Google review
This hike is an enchanting adventure that beckons the intrepid soul. As the sun casts its warm glow upon the rugged cliffs and meandering river, every step through the trail unveils a mesmerizing tapestry of lush greenery and towering rock formations. With each ascent, the air becomes crisp and invigorating, while the panoramic vistas reward the weary traveler with awe-inspiring views that stir the soul. The rhythmic symphony of birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves serenade the hiker, providing a harmonious soundtrack to the tranquil serenity that envelops this hidden gem. Werribee Gorge is a haven where time slows down, allowing one to reconnect with nature's magnificence and find solace in the untamed wilderness.

Fantastic, not just a bush walk but the chance to do more “hike” like activities by climbing over rocks etc.

My friends and I walked the short circuit here (~5km). I would say it’s an intermediate-level hike. It was a good challenge for us occasional hikers. Took us 2 hours to complete with a good amount of huffin’ n’ puffin’.
Lots of pretty views, including mountains, trees and rivers! Lots of beautiful insects too, like butterflies, pill bugs and gigantic ants! I was particularly surprised about the great phone reception up in the mountains!
We truly had such a wonderful time :-)

Nice easy hike with a section of about 50m with a cable to climb past the rocks. Highly recommend. 10km not difficult. Saw a few red kangaroos. Nice nature walk, disappointing that people leave their rubbish….. take it with you its not that hard! Some toilets there.

Amazing place for novice trekkers like me. Some large kangaroos up in the island reserve. The tiny beach is amazing. Water is sweet though its not fit for consumption without a filter.
Joe M — Google review
Decided to give this place a try after hearing about it from a colleague.
Sufficient parking, sufficient signage.
We did the 10km trail that day. Took us 2 hours 20 min, with brief stops to take a break after the inclines and photos.
There are two sections that were midly challenging, where you need to scale the side of rocks. Cables are installed in places where absolutely required. If you're reasonably fit you shouldn't have a problem.
Gorgeous views, peaceful hike throughout.

While the park looks not well maintained we had good time walking the trail. The rocks, tree roots, dirt and fallen brunches gives the park different challenges. The air is fresh and I could smell the natural aroma. There are markers all around. Strawberry farms in Bacchus Marsh are only 15mins drive from the park.
Terefe Ejigu (Enjera) — Google review
As a beginner, I would say it wasn't that difficult trail. However, it was sure quite challenging for some people, especially with the additional 'rock climbing'. Nice scenery. Recommended to take the long circuit for more adventurous!
Fairy Park is a charming amusement park with whimsical and fairytale-themed attractions, including animatronic scenes and model trains. The park provides an excellent experience for children under the age of three who can enjoy pushing buttons, watching animated scenes, and listening to stories. Additionally, the playground at the bottom of the hill is fantastic and can keep kids entertained for hours. The admission fee of $22 for adults offers value for money as kids under three get in free.
My 2.5yr old had a ball! She loved to push the buttons, watch the animated scenes and listen to the stories. Playground at the bottom is awesome and kids could easily spend hours there.
Couple of thoughts.
Definitely value for money at $22 an adult and kids under 3 free.
Probably 1.5hrs watching the scenes and climbing to the top, more time at the playground.
Food options are good, $10 fish and chips was yum and value.
Go at 10am, super quiet then but by 11 it was packed.
Only one place to go to the toilet, at the bottom of the hill, so keep that in mind as you take your kids up to the top.
All in all a great day had

We took our 7 year old granddaughter and she really enjoyed the Fairy Park. The displays are traditional and a bit old school but well maintained, as is the whole park. $26 per adult $14 for children over 2 years old. No family passes make it expensive if you have a couple of children.
Highly recommend taking your own food. The options available aren’t overly expensive but no fresh health options, only greasy nuggets and frozen chips, rubbery calamari, wedges etc.
It doesn’t take too long to make your way around the entire park but there’s no shade so plan accordingly on a hot day.
Heaps of parking and ice creams to end the day and a great playground.
Tracey Turner-Mann — Google review
I went here when I was in primary school and I am now nearly 40. The main thing I remembered about this place was a wall with holes in it and that was the first thing I saw when entering the playground.
This is a fantastic theme park that takes you back to the 80s. Some health & safety things do need to be updated but I think that is what makes it fun. One thing though is if your child is under 3 make sure you take a pram with you cos there are some really steep hills in the park.
Can't wait to take my son again once he is a little older. Thanks for the memories.

Great fun for my 3 year old daughter!! We came quite late around 3 pm so there weren't that many people. I think you can spend at least a good one hour if you press all the buttons and listen to the stories. At the end there is also an outdoor playground!! Be mindful that most of the exhibits are outdoor so check weather beforehand.

A great concept set amongst beautiful countryside. My 3yo was initially a bit freaked out but soon was fascinated by the different fairy tale displays. The layout of the park is also fun to navigate, however it goes steeply uphill and the paths are narrow so you wouldn't want to have a big bulky pram. In our opinion, at $66 for 2 adults and a 3yo (baby was free) it was too expensive. Everything could do with an update (especially the playground, safety-wise) although the displays do have a vintage charm. The playground area I imagine would be fantastic for older primary aged children, not suitable for younger kids. We spent almost 2 hours there.

It was surely an amazing place to visit with kids. 3hours are enough to explore the entire park. The views are eye-catching and the puppets are fantastic. Only thing that I didn't like is the stories are not recited completely. Rest no issues 👍👏

Amazing visit! Took my 2 Grandchildren. As the park was established in the 1950's era, the attractions are in amazing condition and the park is very well cared for. One point though, if you are not a huge walker or like your walkways to have an incline, might not be somewhere that you would list as a favourite. Overall experience 5 out of 5. Simply magical!

We couldn’t book tickets online, as they don’t have that option as of 2023. We paid at the entry and it was quick & smooth. Kids loved the place. Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens offers a serene experience with its display of trees and flowers, shaded paths, picnic areas, and stunning views from Pioneer Tower. It is located in the charming town of Daylesford, which also boasts attractions such as an extinct volcano and a 19th-century mansion-turned-convent-gallery. The garden features ancient trees that create a simple yet beautiful ambiance.
Fantastic location for an easy walk, with a few gentle hills and some sections with steps. We visited in early/mid spring and the flower and foliage were an amazing sight. There are plenty of spots to sit and relax and tonnes of photo opportunities. The Pioneer Memorial Tower was a great find with stunning views from the top. Keep in mind the stairs climbing to the top of the tower are steep and narrow.

A lovely botanic garden, very simple with very old, big trees. The lookout has a nice view from the top. Though I wouldn’t recommend going up or down whilst passing people at the same time, as it a very tight fit and hard to get around.

If you visit Daylesford town don't forget to visit this botanical garden. Either you can park your car in the car park and take a walk to enjoy the view and can take a scenic drive along the way. Located in a mud rendered building this is a truly charming experience to visit. The staff at the Chocolate Mill love their jobs and it makes for a great friendly service. The cafe is a basic set up with long share tables to enjoy one of the delicious real hot chocolates they have on offer. They also have delicious cakes which they garnish with a bit of melted chocolate for good measure. I had the carrot cake and it was spicy and moist. The shop is welcoming with a lovely selection of chocolate and you can see the area where they are making them too! Overall a wonderful place to visit.

The hot choco is not really good! If I will compare it with another store in Daylesford, the taste is watery! Obviously, it was not done properly! The person in the store manning the chocolates is friendly but the one manning the cafe is rude! I remember he was making chocolates and we took a picture of his work. But when he gave our orders at the cafe, he told us we need his permission. Wow dude are you a celebrity?!

Visited Chocolate Mill for an afternoon snack and ordered the banana & caramel gateau, and also bought a few chocolates off their little retail shop. The cake was pretty good, and the iced drinks were rich and chocolatey. The chocolates from the shop were average, not as potent as that of, say, Valrhona, but inside the shop there was a section where you could see how the chocolates were made which was pretty cool. The venue felt old and run down, but overall quite good for a touristy destination when you were in the area.

Can’t begin to describe how much I enjoyed having coffee at this place. The place felt cozy with pretty outdoor views. The lady serving or taking the orders was lovely. The chocolates were yumm as well. Will definitely go back again :)

Absolutely beautiful place to visit at the end of a weekend trip to Daylesford. Cutest little cafe and chocolate shop. Surrounded by beautiful nature.
My favorite place to take the kids and end a Daylesford day trip.

Visiting and droping by at the Chocolate Mill is a must! Will definitely recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My friends and I had out late breakfast at Chocolate Mill and I could say that we really had a great time in there.
The hot chocolate was really good. I got Milk Chocolate which is really yummy and one of my friends had White Chocolate. I feel like if I will order again, I will get the White Chocolate as it is really creamy and tastes really good! 💖 My other friend got the chili chocolate and said that it was really good as well! 🌶
We shared a slice of Carrot Cake and a Cheese Cake which are both superb! 💯 We are lucky to get it because it looks like those are the last slices 😂
They have a wonderful space that has mini playground for children to play. 🛝
On the outside, they got a lake beside them where you can just sit and enjoy the view. 👀
The staff were really friendly as well and greeted everyone with a big friendly smile 💕
They also have lots of merch and food products that you can buy and take home for you and your loved ones! They were selling their huggable mugs as well and got some shirts too! 👕 We will definitely go back and try other menus next time! 🥰

Nearly didn’t visit but so glad I did. Absolutely gorgeous bush setting with many tables amongst the plants and flowers.
Plenty of parking.
100% the best latte I have had in 7 months travelling Australia. Barista has experience in Iran and NewYork and it shows. Just divine.
As for the chocolaterie. Soooo many options to choose from. Absolutely mind boggling. The staff were experienced in customer service, interested in the clients conversation and efficient at their profession.
Unlike another Belgian chocolate outlet in SE QLD I visited, The Chocolate Mill has very reasonable pricing AND you know the produce is fresh. From the number of customers when it is busy I think it’s safe to say that product turnover is quite high.
Not a place for savoury hot or cold meals. Specialises in a large variety of beverages, cakes and of course chocolates.
Overall a lovely experience and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Even had a little education on Straw bale housing. 10/10

Friendly service. Wonderful array of chocolates to choose from. Had a wonderful hot chocolate and a slice of carrot cake. My coeliac partner was also pleased as the majority of the chocolates were gluten free. Highly recommend.

Who doesn't love chocolate?! If not, you really should see someone ;) This short road trip outside of Daylesford is well worth it. There is covered seating open to the outdoors but also a number of older, wooden benches outside. You'll also find a small and basic play area for kids outside. I didn't try the chocolate (there were no samples that I could find) but I can highly recommend the hot chocolate. For $6.50 you get a very large hot chocolate. From memory, choices were white, milk, dark and chili dark. Among us, we tried the white, milk and dark and they were all fabulous.

Cute venue. Fairly small inside but it doesn't have a huge range that they need the space. Helpful friendly staff. Delicious assorted chocolates for many types of people

It’s sitting jn the woods, everyone are here to relax and chill. Iced chocolate taste really good.
But instead of using chocolate powder or chocolate, they squeeze some chocolate sauce around the cup, then added ice cream and milk. No very chocolatey but pretty refreshing

Beautiful hidden gem, nestled among the trees. This is a chocolate shop and cafe. We stopped for a sweet treat of coffee and cakes and were happily greater by one of the chocolatiers.
There is a viewing window attached to the shop where you can see the chocolatiers at work. It has a very magical feel to it all.
The chocolate itself is delicious and creamy.
I highly recommend the best selling truffle pack and the dark chilli hot chocolate.

This place is so great. Such a lovely little place. Such a large selection of chocolates for all kinds of chocolate lovers from white , dark , milk , nuts , fruit and even chocolate for diabetics. But those milk hot chocolate are absolutely amazing. Best hot chocolate I have ever had. Max Brenner has nothing on these guys. Good job guys. Will definitely be back.

Hansel & Gretel meets Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Great little chocolate factory and shop in the middle of the country. So cute and the lady behind the counter is super friendly who oozes good old fashioned country charm. The scent of chocolate when you first walk in hits you in the face and before you know it, you’re ordering $60 worth of chocolate. So much fun.

We always come here every time we visit Daylesford. There are lots of great chocolate options. And we always have hot chocolate or the Mocha with dark chocolate. Their chocolate is amazingly good! All their products are so good. They have something for everyone. This is a place that you must visit. Fyi, they close every year in Feb for the whole month.

Lake Daylesford is a man-made lake that was completed in 1930. It features a restaurant, picnic areas, a playground and footpath. The lake offers stunning views and is perfect for activities such as walking, kayaking, canoeing and swimming. There is a bridge that divides the lake into two parts which takes around 20-25 minutes to walk each part at an easy pace.
Very good town ..just 70km from Melbourne. Good outdoor activities area along side lake and one can explore many local country side activities as well.

Beautiful lake - for walking around, swimming, kayaking...
We stayed in an airbnb on the lake, and had dinners on the lake - all beautiful views. The waters are calm enough (went in December) for canoeing, saw some points where people were swimming. There's a bridge that 'divides' the lake in 2 parts - walking around takes about 20-25 minutes each part at an easy pace. Can see the Lakehouse, visit the Wombat Flats mineral springs and park en route. Paved and well formed paths for prams and wheelchairs as well as leisurely walkers and joggers. Greenery coverage in some parts, direct sunlight in others with information panels about its history along the way.

Lake Daylesford: A Serene Escape
Nestled just a short drive from Melbourne, Lake Daylesford offers a tranquil retreat that's perfect for a day trip. The journey there is as scenic as the destination itself, especially during the vibrant fall season when the foliage is spectacular.
The lake features easy, well-maintained walking trails that are just right for a leisurely stroll or a more active trek. Facilities like public toilets and snack bars are conveniently available, making it easy for families and groups to enjoy their visit without any hassle.
The atmosphere at Lake Daylesford is peaceful, with a touch of whimsy provided by the local ducks—watch your snacks around them! Whether you're there to unwind on a quiet summer evening or enjoy a lively family picnic, the lake sets the perfect scene.
With its stunning natural beauty and accessible amenities, Lake Daylesford is a delightful destination year-round. Just a heads-up: the approach roads can be a bit rough, so drive carefully. If you're in Victoria and looking for a picturesque place to relax and recharge, this lake is well worth the visit.

This is must visit place in Victoria. It is just a 1 and half hour drive from Melbourne and you will find this amazing place. I visited there 6 am in the morning and the view was just amazing. You can bring your dog too. There is a 40 min walking trail and you can enjoy the beautiful nature while taking that walk. I recommend to visit here early in the morning so you can see amazing sun rise and have a morning walk. This is one of the magical walk I took. I visited here on Friday and early morning so there were only few residents who came for walk. And also you can see many birds near the lake

We went to the lake on a sunny and the views were amazing. A great place for a picnic with nearby parks with BBQ facilities. Kids had fun watching ducks. Walking trail around the lake was amazing. There was a night light show going on that moment so if you are reading this go and have a look.
Be careful in the drive as the road was bit bumpy.

Idyllic lake, great for a stroll with the family. There are a few circuit options depending on the length you want and all paths are accessible and wheelchair friendly. The parking gets quite full closer to noon and the barbecues get booked up on the weekend so plan accordingly! Would recommend a stopover on the jetty for the best view.

The Amazing Mill Markets in Daylesford is a must-visit destination for vintage and antique enthusiasts. With an eclectic mix of items including furniture, records, vintage clothing, books, fine chinaware, glassware, industrial items, jewellery and quality antiques, the market offers a treasure trove of unique finds. Visitors can spend hours exploring the various stalls filled with rare collectibles and hidden treasures.
Probably Victoria's best indoor second hand market. Contains a bit of everything, from vintage items to new furniture built from reclaimed wood. Probably not ideal with young kids given the amount of items at ground level. Cafe on site.

Giant shop with tonnes of antique, vintage, retro and second hand goods/memorabilia/items. Spent hours here with how big this store was and their humongous collection. Mill Market Daylesford is a treasure trove for enthusiasts of retro items, second-hand goods, and unique finds. Nestled in the heart of Daylesford, this market boasts an impressive array of stalls that cater to seekers of hidden treasures and antique aficionados.
What sets Mill Market apart is its eclectic selection of items that aren't easily found elsewhere. From vintage clothing to rare collectibles, this market is a haven for those in search of distinctive pieces that carry a rich history. The stalls showcase an assortment of items, ranging from retro memorabilia to one-of-a-kind curiosities that pique the interest of visitors.
However, it's important to note that while the offerings at Mill Market are undoubtedly unique and often rare, prices here may not be as budget-friendly as those found in stores like Savos or Opp Shops. The allure of the market lies in its exclusivity and the opportunity to stumble upon items that hold sentimental or historical value, making it more of a curated experience than a bargain-hunter's paradise.

Where you childhood memories with a higher price tag come back and haunt you. You need to know your prices, some great stuff but also some junk with vintage slapped on it to make it sell worthy.
Huge indoor stall market where everything old.is new again

Good collection from past, distributed across various stalls which is why its not organised. You can spend hours here looking for stuff you need. Since most of the stuff you see here is no longer available, it feels a bit pricey.
They have a very good cafe too.

If you are looking for vintage and retro goods this is the place for you. So many stalls with a lot of the same things for sale but it was a pleasant enough way to spend a couple of hours.

Absolutely love the market and visit every time. There is a ton of variety, and so much to go through. The Cafe is a lovely addition, though the coffee is mostly to keep you going. Unfortunately the stalls don't shift around very often, and on each visit you'll most likely see most of the same things. However, the sheer mass of stuff means there will always be something new to see.

Exploring the Mill Market was a visual treat with its exquisite collector's items and an abundance of vintage gems, creating an enticing atmosphere for enthusiasts.
While the prices leaned towards the higher side, the vast expanse and numerous stalls provided hours of immersive browsing.
The accompanying cafe was great.
Despite the extended wait for the food, the culinary delight that followed made the patience worthwhile, as the flavors proved to be a highlight of the overall experience.

Harassed by one of the male elderly staff, forced to buy a children book cause my toddler touched it (he didnt even lift any flap). “are you seriously wanting to put it back after your child touched it?” overpriced at $15 when elsewhere were selling at $6. contemplated buying it but then another female staff was ordered by him to follow us to cashier (pretending she wasn’t) until we talked to her and asked why.
At least she was happy to take the book back and didn’t force us to buy as it was undamaged. But not a great experience unfortunately. Sad we already purchased a few items otherwise wouldn’t have.

It is a very good place to spend around 3 to 4 hours with your kids. The atmosphere of the castle was perfect. Jousting, photo shoots, theatres, potion making, shops, all were so cool and lets you feel the magic come real (for kids at least).
I must say the theatre artists were awesome. Enjoyed Jack and the Beanstalk and, Rapunzel theatre. The actors were brilliant. Jousting watching was fun too and they let you pat the horses post show.
Just one thing, be there on time and avoid going late as you will then miss lots of activities.

We visited the park on an extremely cold day - I recommend layering up as the wind blows straight through you like ice and there is minimal undercover areas.

All the staff there were lovely. The castle is a decent drive away for us so we intended for it to be a full day's activity. Ironically it wasn't as big as we expected it to be, coupled with there being limited shows and activities. There are a few which you need to book in and pay for separately, buy not many. After exploring the grounds including the maze, the themed rooms and having some food to eat - we would've been done within 2 hours.
It didn't seem like great value for money or enough to do to justify the trek there. Luckily we also found the wildlife park not too far away which was amazing and spent a good chunk of the day there to make the trip worthwhile.
Glad to have visited once with our kids but won't be in a hurry to return.

My son (7yrs) and I went to the Family Halloween day and it was excellent. The scavenger hunt and treat activities were very well organised and a great idea with the crowds. Great food trucks. An absolute legend is the woodwork gentleman at the Guild Shop - I asked him if he made darning mushrooms and he didn't know what they were - however, I described it and how it's used to darn socks and he just made one right there! It is absolutely beautiful and of high quality craftsmanship. He is very highly skilled and a lovely man. Thank you and my socks thank you too. I will be coming back for more darning mushrooms once my friends find out there is someone who can make them. Great day!

It was a fun day at the Annual Victorian Mediaeval Festival. We had hoped for better with the re-enactments and performances but still plenty to do and was pleasantly surprised at reasonable food prices. We had a nice day but feel one visit is enough for us. We didn't stay at the accommodation, but the units looked lovely. Easy parking, plenty of free parking available. Great day overall

Overall, we enjoyed our overnight stay at Kryal Castle.
Positives:
Friendly and passionate staff.
Great playground and enjoyed roaming grounds after hours.
Room was clean and sufficient.
Arena shows were impressive.
Accommodation/ admission price was reasonable.
Negatives:
Only thing we didn't like was the numerous Satanic symbols in shops.
If you want to maintain a historic period with accuracy. Here is a suggestion. Add the Cross ✝️ to the wedding chapel to begin. Christianity was very relevant during that period. Perhaps have an actor dress as a monk who can express the challenges of monastery life during the dark ages.
Recommend a visit with families.

We and 4 other families stayed overnight. The rooms are very simple, but it was magical for the kids to think they where sleeping in a castle.
The activities throughout the day kept them entertained and they loved the experience. The potions making session and the magic beans are things that the kids and adults loved.
I would recommend to anyone with kids to go.
We had kids from 8 to 1 years old.

Attended a medieval fair and jousting competition and was able to wander the castle too.
Lots to look at, to eat or drink, and the people were all friendly and so an enjoyable venue.
Was worth the entry price and just sorry I'd not visited before. But was with family this time and that made it a very enjoyable family day, with fun exploring the fair stalls as well as the castle facilities.
And a house witch deserved particular note for her very child-engaging experiments and explanations.

Had a lot of fun.
Fun for fantasy fans and for kids. Our kids especially enjoyed the knights and snow queen show. There was face painting, spell casting workshops, sword classes, axe throwing, shadow puppet show and more.
A little park, a small maze, lots of fun photos.
I wish the food was better, more medieval style but its your cheap and nasty sort of food.
Other than that we had a lovely stay.
Will go again.

Great day out for the kids, they absolutely love the theatre productions, the magic show, throwing axes, finding their guild, and of course the jousting.
There probably wasn't as much to do there to fill our time as I was initially expecting, you definitely couldn't do 2 days there.
Would have liked to see a restaurant or just more "proper" food options.
The staff are fantastic and really get into the fun of the day and they make the experience what it is.
I think there is a heap of room for growth and it would be worth investing into it!
Thank you for a fun day!

Kryal castle well exceeded expectations! A very easy drive from Melbourne to start with. We booked the Royal family package (we have a 4 and 6 year old).
Upon arriving (after taking in the view of the castle), greeted by Chester the Jester who was our guide for the day. He was wonderful, pleasant, funny and great with the kiddos! We got straight into Archery, which they loved. We met some pirates, did axe throwing, had faces painted, watched a pirate show and then fuelled up with lunch. We then took on the potion Making, more shows, continued our letter finding adventures, viewed all the bits and peices on the way and finished with a pirate sword fight. We were here all day and it was endless fun. I can't recommend this place enough. (Also the Royal package was exceptional) do yourself a favour and go!

The shows are funny and entertaining. We highly highly recommend it.

First off... Absolutely amazing. The shows are brilliant the theme and feel are great. It's a bigger park than what I thought. Staff absolutely wonderful. Price to the park for myself and my daughter was $60, now this is where price gouging starts, if you want to do anything extra like shoot 12 arrows it will cost you $10. If you want tiny face paint $10, hair flower $15, sugar water $10, elf ears $15 (eBay $3). Food was expensive. I think they need to back down from gouging people and charging for things like shooting a couple of arrows. Don't get me wrong it was amazing but parents on a budget, bring your own food and drink buy elf ears online and bring them with you so the kids don't feel left out. Bottle of water $5. All staff were really nice and helpful full props for them. You can tell they don't like charging outrageous prices for things that you would think would be included in the $60 entry fee.

We did the day trip here and therefore cannot review on the stay. But our experience in the castle was awesome. It’s such a wonderful experience. From the moment you step in it feels like you have travelled back in time to the medieval times. A lot of aspects from dungeons and dragons, game of thrones, some elf and fae magic…this is a paradise for all book lovers and gamers. The jousting was fun, a little bit of story telling and lots of excitement. We loved the buildings, the staff in their themed costumes…it was fantastic. There are a lot of shops inside a, some of the shops were just not interesting it had the standard gift shop items, not much character to it, I think there is so much potential there if they can theme these shops and add merchandise to these themes. For example the witch’s house was perfect, we spent a good 175$ there… the armoury shop is another great example which was true to its theme…

I loved the details and the Jousting, it's a great place to host a wedding with a mediaeval theme. The entertainment was beautifully executed. The maze isn't difficult if you can see above the walls.
The throne room, wizards workshop and torture dungeon are very well made.
All in all, it's very worth it for the feeling of stepping back in time.

felt pretty Legit, like going back in time.
loved the Dungeon and the Maze and the Towers.
good to see people having fun.
car parking situation was attrocious. the Castle is Great

Went there just recently with the tiny people, can't recommend it enough. I highly suggest booking accommodation if available as you can access the castle after hours.
Also make sure to book your kids in for the potion class, the lady that hosts it does a fantastic job, I hope she gets paid well for it!

Great day out for all. Maybe more staff in medieval costume to help visitors throughout the castle grounds. Evening shows, dinners etc would be good. Great arena for medieval band like Blackmores Knight would be an amazing place for their band. Renowned for their music in medieval costumes. Whole day out for families. Jousting, public dual, Gruffalo show in the theatre. Overall great experience.

Stayed 4 nights for our sons Medieval Wedding. What a magical day. Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend activities along with Kryals Murder Mystery Dinner. Food for the wedding and Murder Mystery was amazing, as was the staff serving both these nights.bWould definitely recommend this place to everyone looking for something just a little different. Thank you to all at Kryal Castle.

The castle itself was very well done and impressive! Not a problem with the staff but the lack of interactive entertainment was disappointing. And they fleece you of your $ once in there. Very little in the way of gluten free food options, and not even hot chips on offer. Considering what we paid to get in, and the distance we travelled to get there , not a great experience. 😕

A good day out for the family, however food options are disappointingly limited, and a lot was sold out anyway.
Being able to sit and have a proper lunch would make a big difference to the experience. This place has endless potential which it unfortunately is not living up to.
The jousting was the highlight of the day, the other shows were quite boring. Most of the shops are reasonably priced. A lot of junk trinkets in amongst some nice merchandise.
Make sure you take a hat!

Magical and adventurous!
My family and I have been to Kyral Castle multiple times now. The place is great to explore and engage with. The castle also throws extra events on long weekends and school holidays which adds something different for each visit. Highly recommend for a fun adventurous day.

We liked the visit much more than we thought. The place was small but well laid out, with decent activities to keep the kids engaged. Mine loved the maze and archery activities. We also enjoyed the performance included in our visit - it was fun and well scripted and acted.
The place was not far from Bendigo so we went in town for lunch.

The only thing that bothered me was that there was no map or schedule provided, nor did they inform you of the events taking place there. It takes a long time to download the app they offer, and when I did, I discovered that I had to pay for it, so it was almost time for me to leave. The children enjoyed it aside from that, and the rolle player was fantastic!
Located in Ballarat, the park features native Australian animals such as koalas, wombats, quokkas and crocodiles. Daily tours and conservation presentations immerse you into the animal world.
Living museum Sovereign Hill recreates the life on the gold diggings in Victorian era. Costume-clad staff, replica stores, theatre and workshops provide plenty of entertainment for visitors. There is also an underground gold mine to explore.
Sovereign Hill was an amazing outdoor museum experience. It helped me to better understand the history of Australia and how gold played and important part.
We were lucky 🍀 with the weather. It was amazing to walk through the big museum, trying to find gold with the kids. The staff members were all dressed in traditional clothing and they were all very welcoming and kind.
We very much enjoyed the tour to the big gold nugget. Yet, the kids enjoyed also to see the animals and waking through the old houses 🏡.
A fantastic weekend trip from Melbourne, definitely worth it.

It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It was truly a winter wonderland. It is a must. It's very different to going at other times of the year. Lots of things to do, most included with the entry. You are allowed to bring own food, but there are quite a few places to eat and drink. Pass outs allowed. There are fire places/ barrels scattered around so you can stand around warm your hands. There whole place had a beautiful old world feel and charm, with people walking around in old style clothes and always happy to pose for photos. The souvenir shops are quite reasonably priced too. I would definitely recommend coming here. Kids, no kids, just a group of friends, everyone will love this magical place

Definitely a very unique and must visit attraction. I believe this place is very popular as there are so many people and students when we visited on a weekday! There are so many shops to go into and the place is truly like in the movies. Staff are even dressed in theme and are happy to take pictures. There are also horses! All of the decor and architecture are on point I don’t even know if they are recreated or actual buildings. We really had a fun day exploring this attraction. I would recommend spending around 4-5 hours here. Parking is free too and there are lots of gift shops.

Although the buildings were made in the 1970s, they are all well looked after. The staff dressed up in that era and responded like they were still in the era made the experience realistic.
I agreed with earlier comment that the comment from the diggers tour guide felt a bit political but she maybe doing what she was told to do and say.
After reading someone else's comment about New York bakery, we went to Hope Bakery. Their pies and desserts were very nice. Their apple crumble was the best we had ever had.
We decided to pay extra for the "Trapped" guides tour. We really enjoyed the experience going under ground as it made it felt realistic. The tour guide was the descendent of one of the victims and it made the tour felt extra special as he had the real connection to the story.
The shops were also reasonably priced. The activities such as gold panning, bowling and candle decorating were also enjoyable. Lots of free demonstrations throughout the day, which made the whole day went by so fast.
We really enjoyed our first experience at Sovereign Hill. Highly recommended for everyone.

The best museum I was ever at. Really enjoyable, felt like you were back in those times. Loads to do there, we spent 6 hours there. We had a lovely lunch in the New York bakery. I would definitely go back again. Money well spent.

Sovereign Hill is a must see for anyone interested in History, its a wonderful place to bring the family, you can really pan for gold here, they drop specs in each day so you can discover them, food at the restaurants is top notch! A really good day out 😀

i haven't been back since i was 11yo and coming back with my kids was a treat. we enjoyed the mine tour, had to grab some hard boiled lollies, candle making was fun and despite being such a hot Summer's day; we had to try our luck and pan for gold. it was an enjoyable experience otherwise.👍

Great family day out! Weather was perfect, plenty to see do and learn. The cafe was affordable and an ideal place to relax from a day of tours and activities next to the dam with the ducks! It is easy to miss but worth it as the food prices are a lot lower than the traditional style stores on the themed main street. Amenities were clean and suitable.

Winter wonderlights were fantastic. Lovely atmosphere and quite a magical feeling.
Lights were spectacular!
Only reason I have liked and not loved was due to the lack of staffing (especially the one poor girl in the sweet shop with huge queue!)
Event is 5-7pm, there are a LOT of people,so staffing should have been better.
Best time was after 6:30pm when so many people had left and it was easier to walk around a last time.
Would definitely return!

We had a fantastic day at Sovereign Hill today. We took our 8 and 4 year olds and both loved it. We went on the diggings tour and to the musket demonstration. Both guides were amazing! The history and the way they engaged the crowd was great. My 8 year old loved learning about it. We panned for gold and found quite a few little specks. We bought the $1 bottles for the kids to take the gold home in. We went on the horse carriage ride, which was the highlight of the day for the 4 year old. We tried candle dipping and bowling. We visited the lolly shop. Our 8 year old did the self guided mine tour. Both kids attending a school lesson in the old school house. It was really fun for them to write with pen and ink.
To eat, we had Devonshire tea in the New York Bakery and had sausage rolls from Hope bakery for lunch. We had another coffee at the new American Cafe while the kids played at the playground.
My favourite shop was the old Apothecary. It is so fascinating seeing all the old medical and pharmaceutical equipment.
Toilets and amenities were great. There are plenty of guides around to help if you need it or to just have a chat about the history.
We would most definitely visit again when the kids are older to see which activities they enjoy at different ages.

We recently took a cousin here that was visiting from Norway. He enjoyed it. It's nice, just seems much the same as it was when I was child. Not much has changed, not sure why I feel it has shrunk from last time I was there 5 years ago. It's a staple to take your overseas guests that love gold, history or the cowboy outback.
I also enjoyed remembering the history of Ballarat, and watching the gold pour. The gentleman was funny and very knowledgeable, loved that he spoke of the history before the pouring too.
There is a great cafe to buy lunch, coffee, drinks and also large outdoor areas for BYO. The coffee and fries were good. You can't leave without visiting the lolly shop. The lollies are a must, miss seeing how they are made. Sour grape, coca cola and strawberries and cream were yum! Maybe I've hidden them from the family 🤣😋

It is the best place to learn the history and experience the Australian gold rush in the past. There are a lot of activities that you can participate in to understand the work and life back in the date.
It is better to spend half of the day here, ideally from the morning, check out programs and the schedules so that you can plan ahead time and route around the town.
The staff is friendly and the facilities well maintained.

Well, this would have to be my five visit across 40 years and I’m loving it as much as I did the first time. I saw things I didn’t notice the last few times and understood more information on a wide rand of topics.
There were 900 children in the centre on one of the days we were there. They made the atmosphere so fabulous. Their energy and enthusiasm was great. Plenty of room for everyone too I might add.
A very special mention to 2 workers there. Anna who was in the Ladies shop was very informative and shared her experience and knowledge. Anna was so welcoming and kind. What an asset she is to the centre!!
Brett over making a leather piece for a horse’s harness was very pleasant to chat with and knew his stuff. A quiet achiever.
Also, The Bank Manager was fun to speak to and the Blacksmith Timothy was great to watch.
Please keep up the great work of telling the story, Sovereign Hill people.
We will be back again on day.

Spent the whole day here and didn't see everything. Excellent place full of period actors and reenactments. Great food, the chicken sandwich was delicious. The school teacher who also plays the coffee seller is lovely. The policeman is a proper funny character. The bars sell real beer. Just brilliant all round fun and entertainment.

A fantastic day exploring, well worth a visit if you are in Ballarat, AURA Sound & Light Spectacular which is a 90 minute show commencing after dark was definitely a highlight of the visit to Sovereign Hill. Tickets for the AURA show are separate to the admissions tickets and are best booked online for the date you intend to visit as there are limited spaces and it was very busy.
Food and drink prices are on the high side but you are able to take your own or leave and come back in.

An incredible destination for both children and adults. I believe school-going kids can gain a wealth of knowledge about Australia's past. My three-year-old enjoyed exploring traditional gold extraction and an underground gold mining site. It was truly thrilling to venture into the darkness and uncover the history of mining. I will certainly revisit with my child as she grows older. Highly recommended. My only complaint is regarding the steep ticket price for adults—it shouldn't exceed $20-30.

The McCartney photo exhibition was excellent, and a great reason to return to Ballarat and visit the gallery for the first time in around a decade. I've always enjoyed every time I've ever come here, seeing new sides to existing exhibits and enjoying what special events are hosted here. The modernisation of this incredible asset over the past couple of decades has been sensational, and a real sense of pride for the wider Ballarat area.

The gallery resides in a beautiful building that dates back to the town's gold rush boom years.
Free entry to see a great collection of Australian and European art with some dating back to 1800 or earlier. There were also temporary exhibitions and modern art installations.
Apparently only 2% of their art is able to be displayed there at any one time so it may be worth a follow up visit later on.

I have been to few Botanical gardens but this location without a doubt was one of the most diverse gardens. It’s got a garden with glass house, a restaurant, a tiny island (Windmill Drive island), a boat hire, an adventure play ground for kids and guess what !!! and even a Tram museum with an actual tram that you can ride in.
Near Edward VII pavilion is where you can find benches facing the river Wendouree. That gives you an opportunity to enjoy the scenery of river and birds. There also parking spots for cars.
Have a small hike along river via Windmill drive and across the road you will reach entrance to the gardens. Good collection of different flora and fauna. With a beautiful sculpture house within the gardens. The team museum is close to adventure playground but make sure you book tickets.
Kids and elderly friendly. Heaps of parking. Will definitely recommend for travellers.

This place is really worth a look. Aside from the well reviewed food (which we didn't have) the station has been beautifully restored - hard to believe it only cost $1.6 million - probably would cost that much for a feasibility study in Melbourne and the detail is fantastic.

After receiving state funding from Heritage Victoria the magnificent Maryborough Station underwent a 4‐year three-stage restoration of the façade, the slate roof and clock tower and glazed lantern covering the main carriageway platform completed in 2012. It is a tribute to the Victorian Railways, Architectural Works Department completed in 1890 as an outstanding example to the school of Victorian railway architecture developing a regional rather than national or international modern style. It is one of the finest examples in the country of Queen-Anne architecture which displays many hallmarks of the Anglo‐Dutch style which is enlivened at the roofline with gables and an asymmetrically placed clock tower.
During the 1970’s much of the original facade ornamentation, the orbs, pedestals and ball-caps and rendered octagonal chimney crowns were sadly removed. These were carefully re-cast and reinstated as part of the restoration programme. The exterior was re-rendered using Adelaide ‘Brightonlite’ yellow-ocher oxide cement render. The residents of Maryborough were delighted with the result and applauded its face-lift and remarked “this is how it was meant to be” and how they could remember the way the station looked originally.
An outstanding feature of Maryborough Station is its long platform covered by a continuous glazed lantern at the apex. This is said to be the longest single platform outside the Melbourne region and measures 1010 meters including the rail motor sidings. Today, Maryborough Station operates an art gallery emporium, a fully licensed restaurant in the grand dining hall (thanks Lloyd) and VLine post and freight services for passenger and goods trains. Maryborough Station is an exceptional country Victorian attraction and well worth the visit. Thank you and all the best, Chris Wilmar
