Kamakhya Temple sits on a hill and is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya. The hill's view adds to the beauty. Crowds, especially during festivals, can be overwhelming. The rituals are fascinating, but some maintenance could improve. They also serve free food at certain times. It's a peaceful place for self-reflection. Overall, visiting the temple was a profoundly moving and enriching experience for the soul.

It was a fantastic experience , there are two systems of temple visit
1) as general visitors (free pass) : we stood in the line from 3:15 AM and got a chance to visit inside the temple at 10:30
2)as VIP(₹501/person) : Queue is less so you can get chance to visit early even you start late.
Infrastructure, location everything was so holy

The temple is situated a few kilometers away from the Guwahati Railway Station, and is open for visitors throughout the year. There is a legend attached to the history of the temple, which goes way back to the mythological age. According to the legend, Sati the wife of Lord Shiva (one of the holy Trinities in Hindu mythology) took her life at a 'Yagna' ceremony that had been organized by her father Daksha, because she could not bear the insults hurled at her husband by her father. On hearing the news of his wife's death, Shiva, the destroyer of all that was evil flew into a rage and punished Daksha by replacing his head with that of a goat. Torn between misery and blind fury, Shiva picked up the corpse of his beloved wife Sati and performed a dance of destruction called the 'Tandava'. The intensity of the destroyer's fury was so overwhelming that it took several Gods to pacify his anger. In the midst of this struggle, Sati's corpse accidentally got cut into 51 parts by the disc in the hands of Lord Vishnu (also one of the Trinities in Hindu mythology), and her female genitalia or 'Yoni' fell on the spot where the Kamakhya temple stands today, forming one of the many Shakti 'Peethas' embellishing the rest of her body parts.

The Kamakhya Temple is an awe-inspiring sacred site in India. Its architectural beauty and spiritual ambiance left me in awe. The stunning view from the hilltop added to the experience. However, the crowds can get overwhelming, especially during festivals. The rituals and ceremonies were fascinating, but some areas need better maintenance. Overall, a profound and soulful journey worth undertaking.

I recently visited Kamakhya Temple and was left in awe of its rich cultural significance and spiritual energy. The temple is located atop a hill and provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. The temple itself is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, and the rituals and traditions surrounding the temple are truly fascinating. The intricate carvings and architecture of the temple are also noteworthy and add to the overall beauty of the complex. The temple staff were very welcoming and provided useful information about the history and significance of the temple. You have to wait for 8 hours in queue for general darshan. Weekends may be more crowded.

I didn't like it for some reason. Outside shop keeper run after you to drop your footwear there and buy something from. Its good foe local economy but after a time it looks like harrasment to devotees and tourist.
After entering in Temple it was good feeling but then suddenly I saw slaughter house inside and one big animal may be cow recently slaughtered. There were many small goats (lambs) I was feeling sad to see them getting ready to be cut.
Overall, temple is good but people around and locals are making it bad.

Jai Maa Kamakhya Devi.
It is a Shakti peeth and it is told that whatever you wish here with a pure heart, it will be fulfilled.
About the temple...
Such a divine and nice temple. So much cleaned and vivid. A must visit with family and friends. It was really a pleasure to be there. It feels so calm and peaceful after we have worshipped the goddess Parvati Maa. It is said that it is one part of the 51 parts of Maa Parvati. It is a manyata that you have to visit Umananda temple (A temple of lord Shiva). after visiting here to complete the visit. The Umananda Temple is around 5-10 km from here and you have to reach there by taxi or your personal vehicle and then take a ferry or private boat to reach the island as It is situated in between the River Brahmaputra. Assam has been blessed with so many grateful things but this temple just made it to a favourite place of Hindu devotees.

I have no words to express the spirituality of maa kamakhya. Wonderful experience.
In these days of COVID situation, you need to show Rapid antigens test report to the office near the entrance gate. If all good then they will give a pass for darshan inside garv greh. If not then you can enter the temple premise and do puja only.
If you don’t have report then there are camps doing it in the city down the hill. Report comes in max 1-2 hrs.
Temple opens at 8am in winters. Due to COVID there was no rush in morning. At 7:30am there were only 10-15 people ahead of me. Darshan was peaceful and pandit jee gave enough time. Wonderful...
Please do plan to visit this temple and be blessed!

•A place of many people's unwavering faith, Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati is a major destination for all the people seeking spirituality, peace and devotion.
•It was my third time visiting here but this time i decided to go inside the main shrine, the journey to which is an experience. It will put your devotion and patience to test.
•After standing in the queue for around 6 hours, we reached the main shrine.
•There are VIP lines also where you have to pay Rs. 501 to get early access in there.
•You'll be amazed by the level of devotion people have in today's date. It is almost overwhelming.
•I would recommend to get started early morning to be able to complete the tasks before noon itself.
•To mention, the environment of the area is really calming and gives you positive vibes.
•A visit is recommended for those who believe and spirituality and finding inner peace.
•In the noon, there is distribution of free lunch for which you'll have to get coupon and stand in the queue.

The temple is famous for the sacrifice of animals like innocent baby goats, pigeons. In the temple they force you to pay money in the name of god. If you are planning to visit here please don't. Visit some other temples. It's my honest opinion.

Very bad place in my opinion. Because Here people with VIP tickets enters easily, but normally tourists have to wait hours to enter the temple. I have to wait 6 hrs to visit the temple and the VIP ticket persons [ Rs. 500-1000] enters easily without even waiting. Though it's a good place to visit but they shouldn't do this with normal poor visitors. So, I rate it 1 star only .

Bomdila monastery or also known as the Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling monastery is simply beautiful.
The prayer room is huge. And when the kanas do their chanting the place reverberates in a magical way.
There are lots of kids there too. Kids of all ages. All trying to grow in their spiritual journey.
I made friends with a few. They are fun to be with. And they are inquisitive…. They have some many questions.
I stayed in a lodge/hotel right in front of the monastery. The food was good.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bomdila Monastery, and it was truly a serene and spiritually uplifting experience. Tucked away in the picturesque hills of Arunachal Pradesh, this monastery is a hidden gem that should not be missed.
The journey to Bomdila Monastery is an adventure in itself, with winding roads that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Upon reaching the monastery, I was immediately struck by its traditional Tibetan architecture and the sense of peace that envelops the entire area.
The prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze, coupled with the soothing chants of monks, create an atmosphere of tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. The monastery's well-maintained grounds and colorful decorations add to its charm, making it a perfect place for both spiritual reflection and quiet contemplation.
Inside the monastery, the vibrant and intricately painted murals tell stories of Buddhist teachings, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich cultural and religious heritage of the region. The prayer hall is a serene space where one can witness the monks engaged in their rituals, providing a unique and immersive experience.
I also had the chance to interact with some of the monks, who were welcoming and eager to share their knowledge about Buddhism and the monastery's history. Their warmth and hospitality added a personal touch to my visit.
In conclusion, Bomdila Monastery is a must-visit destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in the midst of nature. Whether you are a spiritual seeker, a history enthusiast, or simply someone looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this monastery offers a rejuvenating experience that stays with you long after you leave. I highly recommend taking the time to explore this hidden treasure in the mountains.

It’s a place of worship and faith so one can’t really review it. It features in all the tourist guides as a place of visit. So if you are someone who like to tick off all the places to visit in your travel or someone who is interested in visiting places that are calm and gives a feeling of peace and serenity, this is definitely a place to visit in the small town of Bomdila, which serves as stop overs for people going towards Tawang or going back from there.
The monastery has a new wing and an old part and is on Top if a hill so you have some good views of the town below as well. If it’s cloudy then you may not see the town yet it gives a good serene fee with in.

Sprawling wildlife sanctuary providing a habitat for one-horned rhinos & birds, plus elephant rides.
Very good wildlife sanctuary.
It's nearer to guwahati. We visited there and saw a lot of single horn rhinos.
You can take a ride in Elephant or in a Jeep.
Best is the Elephant ride. If you go in a Jeep then one person will also accompany you from forest department.
We saw Rhinos, boar and wild pigs.

A very good wildlife forest area near to the gateway of north east India. People may visit the place from guwahati or may stay at the place to enjoy the wildlife. Different types of resorts are available here for the tourists. The visitors may choose to enter the forest area with a jeep or by an elephant with reasonable price. Elephant safari is available only in the early morning time. Jeep safari is available from morning time to afternoon time. Visitors have to pay a entry fee here other than the safari fees. The wildlife sanctuary has different types of flora and fauna. The main animal found here is the rhino. Other than rhino, Buffalo, deer, fox, porcupine, rabbit, eagles are some major animals that tourists may see. The staff of the forest is very good and cooperative. The entire campus is clean and well maintained. There is a hanging bridge and a children park too. There is an option of boat safari within the campus for the tourists. There is a toilet separately for men and women which are not clean. Drinking water facility is also there. Dustbins are placed in different corners so that people can easily find them to throw unnecessary things. Parking area is very large and open which is free for all visitors. The entire campus within the forest area is plastic free. Overall a very beautiful wildlife area where tourists can have there quality times with the mother nature.

We, a group of 6 peoples visited the place on 10 December 2023. They tell the place offer sightings of one horned rhinos, wild buffaloes, some birds, big lizard and such. You will sight only those. One will definitely see one horned rhino.
As of us, we took the jeep safari. (We couldn't come early morning for elephant safari). We saw the safari elephant (it was there in the bushes after the day's work), and then many number of one horned rhinos, some birds, wild buffaloes, cows, and surprisingly we could sight a fox too.
For a first time forest trecker, you will have that first experience fun. Do not expect too much sighting. You will see only what they tell they have. If you have a group with same vibe, you can enjoy the ride through woods and have fun.
You should do the entry slot booking online. For jeep you pay after coming there.

Pobitora is a gem of a sanctuary, not very far from Guwahati and has the highest concentration of Rhinos in India.
The park is about 30 km from Jorabat and that makes it extremely accessible.
The roads were very good, but for small patches which were under construction.
If you want to see Rhinos up close, opt for the elephant ride. The rides are at 0630 & 0730 in the morning, on all days.
Pl be careful when you book online. Pl go to www.pobitorasafari.in for bookings. I booked on pobitrawildlifesanctuary.in and got fleeced. The official rates for the ride amounts to Rs. 510/ person in total. I was charged 950/ person by the site mentioned, for nothing!!! So, please be careful.
The elephant ride was amazing. You get to see the Rhinos real close. They were almost domesticated and were pushed by our Mahout to get up and move, so that we could have a good look!!
On Google Maps, go to the Elephant safari point, which is close to the Forest office. See the pictures attd.
The elephant ride is for one hour and definitely worth it. We rode on an elephant called Vikram, who is a senior and takes the lead for the tour. He was gentle and extremely intelligent, responding very well to the Mahout.
You can freshen up at the Forest IB, which has an amazing caretaker called Mr Nath. He gave us some amazing black tea and was extremely welcoming, despite being only a casual employee.
Pobitora is extremely recommended and a must see, if you want to see Rhinos and don't want to go to Kaziranga. You'll not regret it.

Situated on the southern banks of Brahmaputra, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is the home to the great Indian one horned rhinos. Much efforts have been made by the government and NGO’s to convert these species from being endangered to rare. We were lucky to spot 10 rhinos on this beautiful foggy morning.
We did a beautiful one hour elephant ride that started at 6.30 a.m. and the elephant ride was quite comfortable.
Our trip was organised by Airgennie - tours and travel operator.

You can book car for 6 ppl in 1800 rs. + state permit charges extra. Food options not much available here best you bring your own food. Almost it takes 1 hours to see all around, keep good sun glasses and a cap with you as most of the routes are dusty. Overall good experience.
Mawphlang Sacred Grove is a forest that has been preserved by the Khasi community for its historical and religious significance. The dense forest can be explored through guided tours, which last approximately an hour. Visitors are not allowed to remove anything from the forest or damage any trees or plants within it. The forest contains many ancient medicinal trees, some of which are over 500 years old. Additionally, there are various mushrooms and sacrificial sites that have been used for religious rituals throughout many generations.
Beautiful Forest. The property is managed and curated by the local villagers. The forest is a sacred space for them and they treat it with utmost respect. The trip is guided by locals and full snippets about the cultural heritage. There are decent restrooms near the parking lot and a snack place at the entrance. The trip to the center of the forest and back takes about an hour, I would recommend being hydrated and fresh for it.

You will also get to see a lot of mushrooms, sacrificial places where the locals have had been performing religious sacrificial rituals for ages. The local guide will explain everything to you in detail. It was a refreshing and pleasant experience for me.

This is a sacred forest which belongs to the tribals and they believe it to be their deity. You need to hire a guide for visiting this forest who will explain you about the significance of the forest. We got very heavy rains while inside the forest and couldn't complete the entire trek. Our guide was explaining things beautifully but even she got irritated by the rains and we decided to return after only half the trek. The surrounding area is also lush green in colour and makes amazing pictures for your album.

My visit to Mawphlang Sacred Forest was an unforgettable journey into tranquility and reverence. Arriving on a weekday ensured a serene atmosphere, free from crowds, allowing for a truly immersive experience. Though Covid restrictions limited us to only half of the trek, it didn't detract from the profound beauty of the forest. Despite restrictions on capturing certain moments, the opportunity to photograph and film other aspects of the forest was appreciated.
The presence of a Rudraksha tree added to the spiritual ambiance, complemented by an enlightening lecture provided by our guide, whose fee was conveniently included in the entry ticket. The option to contribute to the community fund at the tour's conclusion was a heartfelt gesture, underscoring the forest's commitment to both preservation and community welfare.
While the sale of Rudraksha beads at the tour's end might seem commercial, it didn't overshadow the overall experience.
Respect for the locals’ practice there to protect forest's sanctity… do not take anything from the forest nor leave any of your belongings… strictly follow this if you are visiting too.
The mesmerizing entry pathway set the tone for the enchanting journey ahead, enveloping us in the splendor of nature's majesty. Throughout the tour, the forest exuded positive vibes, leaving a lasting impression of peace and harmony. Mawphlang Sacred Forest is truly a sanctuary for the soul.
Also enjoy some nice pics of a few dogs and cows who accompanied us :-)

Beautiful and sacred place of worship. Mawphlang Sacred Forest is a serene and peaceful place. Entry ticket is 30/- and guide charges - 350/-. You are not allowed inside without a guide. Guides are very helpful, they give you proper information. Ample parking space is available. Rudraksha tree is very old and beautiful.

Sacred and special, this place has a really good vibe to it. Loved the stories the guide shared bout this place and also understanding the cultural rituals that were performed at this place.
There is a tree when you look towards the sky has a heart formation and that is something unique. The humongous tall trees with green moss on it look absolutely gorgeous.
The air is so pure out here and this is a soul refreshing experience and you cannot get enough of this place. The vegetation, dried leaves and foresty trail adds to the charm of this place.
The place is blessed with so many medicinal trees and there was a nice place to swing around like Tarzan.
Just opposite the sacred forest is a green room area that has monolith like stones and also a country side house. The place looked absolutely picturesque with the stone walls. This place is a must must visit.

A sacred forest with a plethora of greenery.
Witness many trees that i had only seen in pics. Very clean and serene environment.
The guides give you a wonderful and informative tour. You will walk one among the many trails in the forest.
Humble request - do not pick anything from the forest as it's sacred for the Khasi.
Wonderful place, a must visit for nature lovers.
Ask for the view point if you have time. A really wonderful place to sit and watch the multiple fold hills around the forest.

The forest was serene. You feel relaxed and connected to nature when inside it. The team managing it can increase the time we are allowed inside it. Also, they can take us little more inside the forest.

This place brings the magic of Mother Nature to you. The locals have maintained their ancient tribal ritual altars intact and have opened the place for public viewing at a very nominal fee. You need to compulsorily hire a guide, again, at a very nominal price, who takes you along the short forest trail while briefing you about the place, it's history and the traditional and cultural aspects associated with it. This is a one of its kind experience which is strongly recommended for the urban class. We were lucky to get Mr Nit as our guide, who is a great guide and is an expert in bird spotting as well.

This is a unique experience to have gone through. It is a guided tour/trek inside a part of forest, with well laid out path,
The forest is divided into 3 parts. We are allowed in the middle. When we visited, only half of the trek was open, full trek was closed.
There will be a guide assigned to a group and he will walk you through the tour.
Our guide - Hep, did an amazing job of explaining the local stories, customs and the rituals they followed. Visiting the 3 mukhi Rudraksha tree was a unique experience. Plus we got try holding it between finger nails and see it rotate.
Plenty of photo opportunities. And many monolith stones in the area.
Restrooms are near the parking lot. There is a small tea stall to have some refreshments.

Peaceful, Calm and Serene. The tourist guide will show you the way. Best time to visit is during Monsoon. Along with the Grove, you can explore David Scott Trail and Khasi Heritage Village. There is a separate parking fee (depending on the vehicle) and guide fee. (Aparantly the guide fee is same, even if you come in a group or coming solo)

Mawphlang Sacred Grove is within the Sacred forest of Mawphlang. As per tradition, the locals in the forest used to offer sacrifices in this place though the practice is no longer observed. The rock monuments stand as symbols for such ancient practices. The spot can be reached by trekking into the sacred forest with the assistance of a paid local guide. It's quite educative and interesting to know the culture and beliefs of khasi people

It is an absolute stellar experience, giving you peace and bliss while enlightening you with the culture of the aboriginal groups from the local areas. It is truly heartwarming to see the locals take pride in their culture and work towards enlightening public about the same. Everybody is very down to earth, knowledgeable and friendly. Shout out to our guide Nikhil.
The tour of the forest takes about 30-45 minutes and you will get to learn about the cultural importance and value it has amongst the locals.

A place where the only thing you can bring from is memories❤️
There is an ancient story associated with this forest and it is said that nothing goes out of the forest. You cannot bring out even a leaf out of the forest, if you do so, you might face ill-fate. This is something that is said by the legends, but not sure about how true it is. But we chose to respect their culture and we did not bring out anything.
This forest is one of the oldest and most famous sacred groves of Meghalaya, harbouring a diversity like medicinal plants, trees and mushrooms. The main highlight is that you will get the opportunity to see Rudraksha tree .

Very vast and open planes followed by a culturally rich story of the sacred forest narrated by the guides. They provide details of some of the indigenous trees and the hike is barely 10 mins long which may disappoint folks who want to hike. You can skip this place if hiking is ur main agenda or if the full hike is open, u can opt for that.

The Mawphlang Sacred Forest is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Meghalaya, India, and it truly captivates the soul with its serene beauty and mystical ambiance. It's a great place to visit. The view of this place is great. They charge 350 for a guide who is supposed to guide us through a 40 mnts Trekking. In reality it's just walking through a footpath inside a very less dense forest ( kind of a park ) for 20 minutes. So I think it's a scam to charge 350. And there's more to it, in fact there's entry fees separate and parking fees separate. So for just a park with 3 people for 40 minutes it's about 700 rupees.

It’s sacred forest and has great stories. The guide will engage you with the god, devil & animal sacrifices stories. This was the good part about the forest. And what we dint like the forest is very big but they will only allow you 50meters radius. Guide is compulsory. They charge 200 per person for forest enter and will say one person will get one guide. For eg: if you are sole you will get one guide or in group then also one guide. When I reached the 3 couples were already in waiting and asked us to join them. They said there is shortage of staff. They will show rudraskhs tree, people tree, banyan tree and that’s it.you are done with the forest tour. Take 1-2 pictures and done.

This is a dense forest which is sacred to the local Khasi tribe, you need to hire a guide from the entry point at nominal charges who will show the forest around and explain its religious and cultural significance for them. You can also explore later the lush green valley outside the forest.

There are 100 plus sacred forests in Meghalaya but tourists are allowed to visit this one along with local guided tour only. Every kingdom is supposed to have one sacred forest. It is not allowed to bring anything back from here as it could have dire consequences (health issues, haunting of spirits). This forest is residence of local deity Labasa. Local people do perform rituals and sacrifices here on a periodic basis for the wellness of tribe. The guided tour was pretty great.
The dramatic and multi-tiered waterfalls of Elephant Falls is a must-see for tourists in Shillong. The easy walking trail and stairs makes the waterfall accessible to all, with stunning views of the surrounding valleys.
There are two view points here one around 20 steps from the top but the falls are far for this view point so not much to see. Second is around 70 steps from the top but definitely worth it as it is very close to the falls end part. Also there is a playground and toilet near the parking area.

Amazing scenic view at Elephant Falls. Beautiful and sound flowing water from falls. Waterfall is divided into 3 steps - first step is doable for all but 2nd and 3rd step falls is quiet deep and not easy for elder people to see 3rd step falls.
Crowded and need to watch steps carefully. There are Souvenir shops, Clean toilets near parking lot and well managed parking lot. It is worth to pay Rs 100 per person to see this water falls. Steps are nicely made with comfortable steps.

I had the amazing opportunity of visiting the elephant falls of Shillong in the rainy season. The waterfalls were mesmerising. The water flow was great and with the lush greenery that was around the place and the white water made the place look even better. The water was very clean and you get to see three parts of the water fall when you visit this place. My pro tip would be visiting it during the rainy season because that’s the time when the water falls is in full bloom.

You can visit any of the three waterfalls, but the main one is the third. As you have to go down to visit the second and third waterfalls, it becomes harder to return to the entry gate since you have to climb 55-65 meters back up. By purchasing a ticket, you can also visit a nearby park. But its worth visiting as its really beautiful.

Elephant Falls in Shillong, Meghalaya, is a captivating natural wonder that left me awestruck. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this cascading waterfall offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Its name, inspired by a rock formation resembling an elephant, adds a touch of intrigue to the experience.
The trek down to the falls is an adventure in itself, with well-maintained pathways and informative signboards about local flora and fauna. The sight of water gushing down from different tiers is simply mesmerizing. The air is filled with a refreshing mist, and the sound of rushing water is soothing.

A beautiful place with some marvellous falls in Shillong. Must visit during rainy season. But don't visit in December to February. If it is raining when you visit, do not worry at all. The shopkeepers will rent you colourful umbrellas just for Rs. 20. There are some shops that sell some local handicrafts. Bargaining is common. Clean washrooms are available. Some restaurants cater tea and Maggie. No vegetarian restaurant can be found. There is a place where one can get tribal costumes on rent. They will even dress you up with all accessories. However, they do not have cameras. You have to click with your own camera or mobile phones.

Elephant falls is a three step waterfall. Probably during monsoon the waterfall is more impressive. The first step still had a lot of flow when we visited in March but the flow was smaller on the second and fourth steps. It was named after a stone nearby which looked like an elephant head, but the stone was destroyed during an earthquake.

This artificial lake has very peaceful and sensational panoramic view.
Flanked by hills on all sides and lined by striking roadways and bridges, the gentle Umiam Lake is one of the reasons why the Guwahati-Shillong route is considered one of the most scenic in the region. The lake was formed when a dam was built over the Umiam River in the early sixties as part of a hydel power project. Umiam Lake has become a favourite spot for many who come to admire the landscape.
The adjoining Orchid Lake Resort is a government-run facility where you can book lodges or grab a bite at the restaurant with fine views.

The Don Bosco Museum is located in the heart of Shillong and displays important relics and artifacts from different indigenous cultures of Northeast India. It is especially famous for its collection of tribal artefacts, which tell the story of the cultural history of Northeastern India. The museum is well displayed and takes about 1 hour to visit.
Don Bosco Museum at Shillong deserves at least two to three hours of your solid time if you wish to cover every corner of the premises. It consists of six levels of exhibits displaying cultural heritage of entire seven sister states of north east India along with snippets on the neighbouring countries. There is one cafeteria at the penultimate level to top and just like a cherry on top, there is a spiral grill covered sky walk to offer you a two seventy degree view of three fourth of the Shillong city.

It is the best place if you want to know about the North Eastern cultures and how it has grown with years and expanded. You will require around 1-1.5 hours to cover the 7 floors museum. If you are interested in the history and culture of the Northeast you certainly must visit the museum. You have to go floor by floor to see the different exhibitions. The layout is well mapped out. Nice well maintained museum. Very informative I must say. The ticket price is reasonable. You need to buy a pass for 100 Rupees if you want to use your camera phone. The best part sure was the Skywalk at the top which gives you a good view of the Shillong city. You need a good 2 hours to view the entire museum nicely.
नूपुर प्रधान तीर्थंकर — Google review
If you are leaving Shillong without visiting this museum, then you can assume yourself that you have not visited Shillong itself for that matter north east culture. This is the best place in Shillong and thanks to the noble Don Bosco who painstakingly collected the artefacts, history, culture and traditions about the entire north east in the seven storied building exclusively built for that purpose. It is a hexagon shaped well and for every few steps there is a hall dealing with something about the culture of north east. If you are really interested in studying each and everything mentioned there then probably three hours are minimum required . Even if you glance through an hour and half is minimum. The place is restricted for photos in the sense there is a 100 rupee charges for taking photos worth its money value in what you get as a return to cherish by way of photos. Being in the town and famous for traffic jams many a times the tour operators skip this which is unacceptable. The beauty of the place is the sloppy pathway to the top like a cone ice cream to enjoy the 360 degree view of the entire Shillong. There is sufficient safety precautions including rubber mat to avoid the slippery during rain.

The museum shows the history of North East India. It has 6 floors (including 2 basement) and a sky walk. The sky walk was good, it offers a 360 degree view of Shillong and nearby hills. You can cover it in one hour also. But to see it in detail it might take 2 hours or more. They have restrooms in all floors and a shop at the ground floor.

As a museum the gallaries are very informative and well maintained. But for me the best part was the sky walk at the top of the building and the open view cafe just below it. Btw per person ticket is 100, for students it's 50(student ID as proof) and 100 extra to use a camera.

Neatly maintained.
The museum is located inside the school. Entry tickets can be purchased at the entrance. RS.100 per camera for photography is charged.
There are seven floors displaying exhibits. Senior citizens may find it difficult to climb the stairs. You can go down 2 levels, take the lift to the 4th floor and start coming down after going on the skywalk on the terrace.
This provides a beautiful view of the whole city of Shillong.
There's a small cafeteria on the top level.
There's a short and beautiful documentary film about the north-east.

Shillong's Don Bosco Museum is a must-see attraction. There is a good collection in this five story museum. The set up and exhibition are fantastic. The staff is polite here. The statues on display were expertly crafted. Here, there is a little cafeteria with a lovely view of Shillong. On the terrace, there is a sky view gallery with a 360-degree view of the city. I had a great time there and advise everyone to go with loved ones.

Don Bosco Museum in Shillong is a must visit. This museum provides a glimpse into the rich, beautiful and multi-cultural lifestyle, history and traditions of the tribal culture of Northeast India. The museum celebrates cultural diversity through indigenous culture, arts and crafts. There are a total of seventeen galleries, each offering a glimpse into the region's historical and cultural heritage. It will take you around two to three hours to explore the museum thoroughly. The Art Gallery's extensive collection includes rare paintings and antiques from across the North East . The layout and display are excellent. The staff here are polite. It has a small cafeteria with beautiful view of Shillong city. There is a souvenir shop where you can also buy some souvenirs. There is a sky walk that offers a 360 degree view of the city. The entry fee is a little on the higher side – 100 rupees per adult. If you want to take pictures with your mobile or camera, you have to pay another 100 rupees. But the museum is worth a visit as well as the skywalk.
The museum is open from Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sundays.

In Shillong's embrace, a haven stands tall,
Don Bosco Museum, a wondrous call.
Stories of tribes, cultures unite,
In halls of knowledge, vibrant and bright.
Heritage echoes in every display,
History's whispers in a colorful array.
Mountains' tales and folklore blend,
In this museum, where cultures transcend.
From artifacts old to futuristic dreams,
In Don Bosco's embrace, the past gleams.

Agnigarh is a famous hillside area with a rich history rooted in Hindu mythology. The park features numerous historic sculptures and offers breathtaking viewpoints of the surrounding area, including the Brahmaputra river. However, visitors should be prepared to climb several steps to reach the top, which may be difficult for elderly individuals. Once at the summit, visitors can enjoy a small park and garden while admiring a bird's eye view from the watchtower.
Good viewpoint off the shores of Brahmaputra river..Nice depiction of History in this place..A watchtower is present here to get bird eye view of the entire place. Inside the premise small park and garden is also there. Nice place to hang out with family, kids and friends.

Agnigarh is a picturesque lookout point with stunning views. However, the journey involves numerous stairs, potentially challenging for the elderly or physically disabled. The area is adorned with well-maintained trees. To enhance the experience, improvements in maintenance are recommended, as some railings at the lookout point were found cracked. Despite this, it remains a beautiful spot for those who can navigate the stairs comfortably.

I recently visited Agnigarh, also known as the Fire Fort, and had an amazing experience. The fort is situated on a hilltop overlooking the town of Bundi, and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The architecture of the fort is also impressive, with its red sandstone walls and well-preserved temples and palaces. I was a little disappointed to see that some parts of the fort are in ruins, and that there is a lot of garbage scattered around. I think it would be great if the authorities could take some steps to clean up the fort and restore the ruined parts. I also think that shops should not have been opened inside the fort, as they detract from the historical atmosphere. I had a great time at Agnigarh, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in history and architecture. However, I think the authorities could do a better job of preserving the fort and keeping it clean.

Agnigarh Hill is a hillock on the bank of the Brahmaputra River. The mythological romance associated with the location is well known. According to Hindu legend, Aniruddha, Lord Krishna's grandson, and Usha, the daughter of the asura monarch Banasura, had fallen in love. Banasura, on the other hand, did not approve of the relationship and imprisoned Aniruddha in another location while keeping his daughter Usha in this location in seclusion. It was thought that this location had a fire boundary that no one could cross without the permission of Banasura, hence it was named Agnigarh, or the fort of fire. This is currently one of the most well-known tourist destinations in the area.

Great place to know about the culture and people of the North Eastern India. It's setup into 19 smaller zones where we can get to see/know about various things about the people and their heritage/culture.
The orchid garden is well maintained with 100+ species available in the garden here. The culture museum is very informative too. There are people who help us with knowing the zones individually as they explain about the same. During the evening from 6.30-8.00pm, one can enjoy the cultural dance and music of the locals inside the garden. Prices are separate for this cultural dance.
A few small eateries that sell the local snacks are available in and out of the place.
Souvenirs shopping is available around the area.

I visited Kaziranga Orchid Park during my trip to Kaziranga National Park and I was amazed by the variety and beauty of the orchids and other plants displayed there. The park is one of the largest orchid park in India and has many species of wild orchids collected from different parts of Northeast India. Some of the orchids are very rare and unique, and some have not even been named yet. The orchids are kept in a greenhouse, where they bloom in different colors and shapes. The park also has a cactus house, a bamboo garden, a medicinal herb garden, and a rice museum, where I learned about the different types of rice grown in Assam and their cultural significance.
The park also has a restaurant, where I tasted some of the delicious and authentic dishes of Assam.
The park is not only a showcase of the floral diversity of the region, but also a cultural hub, where I enjoyed the folk dances, music, and handicrafts of the local tribes. The park has a stage, where the performers dressed in traditional costumes and played various instruments, such as drums, flutes, and cymbals. The dances were lively and energetic, and I could feel the spirit and joy of the people. The park also has a handicrafts museum, where I saw the exquisite workmanship of the artisans, who made baskets, mats, hats, and other items from bamboo, cane, and jute1

This is a tourist attraction in kaziranga. On the entrance there are collection of lots of orchid varieties but not displayed in a proper way,may be due to lack of space. There is boating facilities and children park also. Children park is so so ,mostly to pass time. sale counter is also not well stocked .
The cultural program is very short ,just glimpses of few local dance and performances. I feel instead of showing thumbnails they can dedicate one day each to different tribes or only one or two full performance a day keeping bihu as constant
Also they can reduce the number of show and making each show longer.
Overall average experience.
People from outside will like it if organisers keep certain things in mind. Food must be available.

Three Pagodas are one of the best preserved Buddhist structures in China having endured several man-made and natural catastrophes. The middle pagoda, built during 824-840 AD by king Quan Fengyou, is 69.6 meters (227 feet) high and is one of the tallest pagodas in China. The other two pagodas were built about a century later.
Saed Saydul — Google review
The whole three pagoda park is massive and to fully appreciate it, I suggest a day long trip.
It starts at the bottom with a huge car park, just a little north west of the Dali Ancient City. The entrance fee will set you back 120 yuan if you have not joined a tour but the ticket price is inclusive all the mini buses that operate throughout the park - trust me, you will need them. This is still a part of China and it is a MASSIVE park, and I mean massive literally. The three pagodas are just to mark the entrance to the site and the temples that follow on as you climb the mountain side get larger and larger, more grand as you go up. As far as I remember, there are five temples and each is preceded by a courtyard just as massive. I saw a lot of Chinese pilgrims alighting the incense at every temple, dancing and praying for good fortune. It was enchanting and mesmerizing to watch this Chinese lady performing Taichi moves before entering each of the temples.
The best part of the necessary part I guess is the free temple food about half way up. You get a bowl of rice to keep you going with vegetable side dishes. I suggest a little donation back... If still not satisfied, look back at the way you have climbed and you will be impressed by the view of the ancient Erhai lake. The kings of the ancient Dali kingdom has chosen the right site, it has magically qualities especially when the rain stops and the sun spills onto the ground.
Worth a trip, highly recommended!

Exploring the Dali's Timeless Charm
Venturing through Dali, Yunnan, was a journey through time and beauty, leaving me that sweet longing to return. From the tranquil Erhai Lake, where the waters mirror the sky's serenity, to the iconic Three Pagodas standing tall against the backdrop of ancient history, every sight was a marvel. 🏞
At the foot of Cangshan Mountain, the temple whispered tales of loyalty, devotion, and spirituality, inviting contemplation and peace. ⛰ Each moment in Dali felt like a step into a bygone era, yet the vibrant culture and warm hospitality embraced me with open arms. Amidst this wonder, nostalgia lingers, beckoning me back.
Cherry blossoms bloom along some parts of the city's roadside, adding a delicate touch of beauty to the enchanting landscape. 🌸 And as the radiant sunlight casts its golden hues over the temple at the foot of Cangshan, it illuminates the surroundings with a heavenly glow, enhancing the spiritual aura of the place. ☀

The area boasts a mild climate that feels like spring all year round, creating a serene and picturesque setting for visitors. The lakeshore offers plenty of opportunities for exploration, with highlights such as Erhai Park and Butterfly Springs on the western bank.

Pretty lake with a continuous cycling trail around. Quite a romantic experience overall if you overlook the rampant presence of touters selling hair braids, baloons, bike rentals and photography hire.
The trail is serene once you pass the retail strip. The trail is well made with craft precision especially on the curve bends. Nature is displayed quite spectacularly with the variety of marshlands, grasslands, wetlands and interactive paved areas.
I'd say avoid all hotel acomodations here as they are quite inflated in price and haphazardly put together.

The lakeshore can be explored by hiking. Highlights include Erhai Park and the Butterfly Springs on the Western bank. Islands on the lake – including Guanyin Ge, Jinsuo Island (金梭岛; 'Golden Shuttle Island'), Nanzhao Folklore Island (南诏风情岛) and Xiaoputuo Island (小普陀) – are also available for visits.
The lake is an important food source for the local people (Bais), who are famous for their fishing method: their trained cormorants catch fish and return them to fishmongers. The birds are prevented from swallowing their fish by rings fixed around their neck.

Interesting place to explore. It takes one day to round the lake with a car. You can stop on the road and enjoy the view. Check point: 喜州古鎮Hex·jix、雙廊古鎮Cualnud、理想幫Da Li santorini. If you are in a hurry trip, you may choose 雙廊. Very important: sun burn protection!!! Water for rehydration!!!

Erhai lake is a massive lake that the locals call sea. It is beautiful with many spots to take pictures, feed seagulls. I suggest to at least spend a day, using a vehicle to visit the sites around the lake. I personally rented an electric scooter from old town, and circled the lake using 2 days. It was a beautiful ride. I did it during Dec, which is quite cold. I believe it will be better by car.

Simply beautiful and memorable trip at the Er Hai. It is so clean that I am hardly find any piece of rubbish. Well done to the local government and the people who help taking care of the lake.
Great place to walk about with local street snacks and souvenirs at not too tourist-ed prices..

There is no foreigners at Foreigners Street.
In fact, all the action now concentrated at Red Dragon Well and the adjacent Dragon Well Stream Lane Walking Street and over there is much picturesque.
The Foreigners Street has the East and West sections. If you see the mountains, that is the west. Activities are more towards that section up too Po Ai Road.

Dali Ancient City is a charming destination for tourists, with its chessboard-like layout featuring shops selling handicrafts and local cuisine, as well as bars in a relaxed setting. The town's rich history adds to its allure, as visitors can walk the same streets that played a significant role in world history thanks to Dali's influence. A small museum also provides some insight into the town's past, though it could be more comprehensive.
Beautiful place.
I think the history behind the old Town really makes it interesting.
Dali played a large role in world history and we are able to walk through the same streets.
There's a small museum with some history of the town which is really nice. Wish it was bigger and went more in depth though.

Dali Ancient City, with its distinct charm and historical allure, earned a solid 4/5 in my Google rating. The city's ancient architecture and vibrant atmosphere create a unique setting that captivates visitors.
The well-preserved ancient structures, cobbled streets, and the iconic South and North Gates reflect the rich history of Dali. Exploring the city feels like stepping back in time, with every corner revealing a piece of its cultural heritage.
While the ambiance is undoubtedly enchanting, I found that some areas lacked clear signage, making navigation a bit challenging. However, this minor inconvenience didn't overshadow the overall experience.
The local markets, featuring handicrafts and traditional treats, added a delightful touch to my visit. The friendly locals and their willingness to share stories about the city's history enhanced the authenticity of the journey.
In summary, Dali Ancient City is a must-visit for those seeking a blend of history and culture. With a bit of navigation patience, the city offers a memorable escape into the past, earning its well-deserved 4-star rating.

I would say, this the best ancient city in China. For 3-4 square meters, it seems inside a huge shopping complex with everything you name it. I have been to many Ancient Cities in China but they are too sloppy and disappointing.
Dali Ancient City day time and night time is totally different. Day time is relaxing. Night time is exciting.
The best location to stay is near Po Ai Gate or South Gate. As almost the entire City is walking street, hotels near the Gates are the most convenient as you don't have to walk too far away from the main road outside the City.
Right outside the PoAi Gate has a great restaurant serving the best Steam Pot Chicken in Yunnan. It has a special way in serving. A bowl of wheat noodle is accompanied with the steam pot of chicken and a bowl of hot sauce too.
From Po Ai Gate to the walking street is just few steps beyond. The walking street has a man made stream in day time. In the evening, the sound of stream wil be replaced by musicians.
Overall, Dali Ancient City is a must to visit in China.

It took about 30+mins form the high speed rail station of Dali by Taxi. It was a Funny typical Chinese ancient city. Many restaurants inside, eg Yunnan, Bai, Sichuan etc. Must try item: Mixian/rice round noodle. Also, every night around 7-8 had camp fire dance inside and you could join and dance with them. There was paid parking.

Perhaps the most beautiful towns I've seen in China and while the main streets can get very crowded there is enough to see, eat and do to spend a full day..we spent 8 hours walking, eating, drinking and shopping.

Typical Chinese touristic city, in the city where more or less it is spring like weather the whole year, just a bit colder then Kunming as it is a bit higher in altitude.
It's beautiful, especially the mountains surrounding it.
Not a lot western restaurants /bars if you are in search for that. Then better move on to Lijiang, having said that, it is a nice city with beautiful surroundings, not that far from Kunming (the city of eternal spring).
I rented a bike and it is wonderful to bike in the area.
Also I went to the mountains, modern cable cars available. Skiing not possible for those seeking that. But very nice views, high altitude.

Stayed in nearby landscape hotel. So it’s a walking distance to this town.
The whole place is lively at night where it’s light up with shops selling food, drinks & shopping 🛍️

Most shops closed around 10+

Worth a visit. The 'Ancient' city appears more built for tourists. There is a different feel then that of most Chinese ancient cities; that is the presence of international influence. There are bars, while still very much Chinese, with a little international feel. If you are looking for a genuine old Chinese city this is not it. But if you are looking for a little West meets East you will probably like Dali.

This is a super crowded outdoor shopping center masquerading as an "ancient city". They concentrated on selling locally made merchandise, including silverware, fruits, and "flower" bakery. On an interesting note, these silverware shops would hire some guy aimlessly banging on a small piece of silver with a hammer to insinuate that their silverware was handmade. We actually bought something here so we like this "ancient town" better than the others

Yunnan Ethnic Village is a charming and picturesque village that displays China's various ethnic groups in their traditional houses. It serves as an open-air museum, much like Skansen, where visitors can learn about Yunnan's many minorities through singing, music, and dance performances. The park offers explanations in two languages, one of which is English. To explore most attractions will take at least half a day due to the park's large size.
Nice buildings if you want to see a microcosm of the local indigineous cultures. But beware the scam operators. Don't take their "generosity". Because then they'll want you're money. Nobody is going to give you something for free. Other than that, the buildings are lovely.

I stopped on the way to visit this park spontaneously. The park is clean and everything is good in shape. It is nice for a short walk but I was really shocked to see they have an elephant on a chain which should obviously amuse the visitors. Very sad to see an animal treated like this, especially in a park that deals with ethnic minorities and the cruel treatment of people. Therefore only one star. If there were the opportunity to chose zero stars as well, this would be my choice.
The park named 翠湖 is a serene and stunning city oasis that surrounds a lake. It boasts footpaths, boat rentals, food establishments and cultural performances. Beautiful public park around a green lake, with many lovely willow trees and bamboo. Parts of the lake people can rent boats, and parts of it are full of lotus plants. Nestled in the northeastern corner of the Green Lake lies the enchanting Bamboo Forest Island, a serene haven that has inspired poets and scholars throughout the ages. Renowned figures like Chen Rongchang, a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations during the Qing Dynasty, and Yuan Jiagu, the top scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, have penned verses extolling the beauty of the verdant bamboo groves found on the island.
In 2011, thanks to generous donations from private enterprises, the Bamboo Forest Island underwent a transformation into a captivating bamboo appreciation garden. Today, it boasts a diverse collection of over 20 rare bamboo species, including dendrocalamus giganteus, Chimonobambusa qundrangularis, Indosasa glabrata, penholder bamboo, and phyllostachys aurea. Visitors can immerse themselves in the tranquil ambiance, wandering amidst the swaying bamboo stalks, and take in the sight of blooming lotus flowers while sipping on tea. It’s the perfect retreat for those seeking a moment of peace and relaxation amidst nature’s splendor.

Very beautiful park. Probably more beautiful in the spring and summer when the lotuses look more lively. It's great that this park is FREE, meaning there are so many wonderful performances that people put on, whether it is minority dances (the one I saw was Tibetan, performed by Han folks) or live music or just your average old-people-in-the-park calisthenics. Also there was a cool photo exhibit about Xundian County. Would recommend this park if you want a stroll.

Yiliang Jiuxiang Scenic Area is a remarkable natural wonder, featuring tours and an intricate underground cave system with vibrant lighting. The experience begins with a brief boat ride through the canyon before exploring naturally carved caves adorned with awe-inspiring stalactites. The vastness of the interior includes rivers flowing through the caves, water dribbling over rocks, and even massive waterfalls.
Jiuxiang Scenic Area
Jiuxiang Scenic Area is in the County of Yiliang in Yunnan. There are a lot of tourist spots to explore. Once entered the area, take an elevator to the bottom of the valley of Yincui Gorge, also known as the "Valley of Lovers", and enjoy a boat ride in the stream, which is about 15 metres deep. The length of the gorge is about 1 km, but the boat ride covers only 600 metres.
The picturesque landscape is unforgettable, and for many citysiders, the echo from the nearby cliffs is a fascinating experience.
More to come.

Beautiful geological park. Everything is very well maintained, clean, and well signposted. Remember to bring your passport to buy tickets. It is quite a long walk, but some parts you have the option to take the glass slide down to the waterfall area for 30RMB. And you can also hire people to carry you in a sedan. There are lots of stalls for you to buy snacks and drinks, even a small Starbucks inside the cave! Toilets are also available, and are mostly clean. The final part of the cave is a bit steep and can be challenging. But it is a wonderful experience, very beautiful and amazing in parts. Slightly spoiled by the very noisy and very rude local tour guides who push past people and scream at the top of their voices with their microphones. Hope you can be more professional and behave.

An amazing experience touring Jiuxiang. It has it all. A short riverboat ride along a gorge. A lift that bring you to the base of the gorge or you can trudge a staircase down. At the end of the gorge is the entrance to the cave. The cave is magnificent and the many coloured lighting makes the sight surreal. The large caverns in deep mountain is a wonder of nature, thousands of years in the making, a sight that held all of us in awe. There is even a litter system, people carrier managed by two person for a fee, to help the elderly or people with walking difficulty to go through the cave. There is a beautiful park at the cave exit. There is a ropeway to help visitors return to the site entrance. The ride was fun with wonderful views of the hillside ridge, valley, park and campsite. Fansipan, the highest mountain peak in Vietnam standing at 3143m, is a popular Alpine attraction that offers multi-day hiking tours and a breathtaking cable car ride. The peak can be reached by an overnight train + van/bus from Lao Cai Station, which takes around 8 hours. Visitors can also take on the challenge of hiking up to the top of the mountain or opt for a cable car ride that covers nearly 1,500 meters and takes you more than halfway there.
Amazing view when the weather is clear. Recommend to go early because the summit will get super crowded. It is beautiful up there but not sure if it’s worth it if you have to be in that queue. Another option is taking the stairs. The facility is well organized.

The highest summit of the former French Indochina colony. To get to the peak, there’re only 2 ways: overnight trekking and taking long gondolas. The gondolas are quite expensive and include multiple stops with a train ride from downtown Sa Pa. During the holiday seasons, the peak is really overcrowded and filled with travelers, so make sure that you make to the station earlier than usual.

If you guys are traveling to Sapa, there are two major tourist attraction in these area, which are Fansipan and Cat Cat village.
Fansipan is one of the highest mountain in the region. The idea is either take a cable car/ funicular and then a small tram to go to the peak region for sight seeing the mountain ranges and explore the pagoda and the Buddha statue. Or.
Explore the nature by hiking from the base of mountain all the way to the peak.
To go there. Just take a quick transpiration ride from the downtown Sapa city to go to Sunworld park to buy the tickets.
Since this is one of the highest mountain in the region. Be prepared for always constant changing weather conditions and high altitude sickness.

I will say avoid a rainy day (worth a wait/stat in sapa for one more day) this can be way more beautiful- costs around 700k for cable car, 150k for two way train and 150k one side for last link train (optional) per person. Needs 3-4 hour’s minimum. Have a little park at cable car station where you can click beautiful pictures. Dont miss the waterfall on the way in cable car.

I had the best experience visiting Fansipan. The weather was very good; it was sunny with a little fog around 3 PM. I would highly suggest that you look at the weather forecast before going here so that you don't waste your money on a foggy view.
I recommend buying the package tickets with the peak rail because there are many steps to climb, especially when the weather is not on your side.

I really enjoyed Fansipan Peak. I had no idea it was owned by the same company as Ba Na Hills which I will admit, when I found out it really put me off. I was not of fan of the latter.
All in all though it was very professionally run. The cable car to the top was enjoyable although being April, visibility was low.
Aside from also being on a mountain peak, it felt like a very different experience to Ba Na. We did not use the Funicular mid way but chose to take the steps to the top. It was not a difficult climb with various points of interest to stop along the way. That said the Temples, Pagodas, statues etc… all recently constructed, did set the almost ‘theme park’ scene as they were clearly made for tourism purposes.
So I guess the bottom line is these are theme parks really, tourist driven… the trade off being access to one at one of the highest peaks in the area. Enjoyable if you take it for what it is.

Basically a hit or miss. Check the weather before heading to Fansipan. In addition, DO NOT go on weekends due to the high number of tourists. PREFERABLY GO weekdays and even if the weather says clear skies, on top there might still have fogs. Don’t be discouraged and wait for the fog to dissipate. Stay there at least 1-2 hours (not counting the cable car). A lot of stairs. Be prepared for up and down a lot. DO take a lot of rests if you’re not fit. Stairs are also super steep! Go with a guide or group if you need help. Plenty of bathroom and vendors for drinks. Wear warm clothing too. And have fun most of all! Hope you’ll love it as i did!

Day trip up Fansipan and we’re lucky. Lucky because it’s a clear day in Sapa in autumn!
We pay our money at the failed shopping mall that is the station and head down to the funicular.
Tickets are 800,000 dong pp midweek or 850,000 on weekends. Extra 150,000 for the lower funicular and 150,000 for the upper funicular.
We chose the lower and the cable car figuring we’d climb the last bit. And we did. Lots of stairs but it was fun stopping along the way for many, many photos.
The cable car journey is spectacular and long - just over 6k.
The temples and associated statues are amazing, but nature is the star here. The views across the valley toSapa are stunning, as are the views that seem to stretch to China.
We didn’t succumb to the food court or souvenir shopping at all the different stations so can’t comment on them. There is a lot of ‘please exit through the gift shop’.
Was a remarkable day. Do it!
Small note - wear sensible shoes. Saw lots of women struggling with heels on the narrow steps.

We decide to come up at the foggy day because we didn’t want to miss our only chance to come up. The cable car ride is the most impressive. 3K took about 25 mins. Going through mountains, valley and streams. It’s absolutely worth of the ride just for that. The entire walk up is marble paved stairs. I can imagine how slippery it would be. The Buddhist temples and statues through out. The Buddhist singing all the way to top. It’s a very different experience of hiking. Summit at 3126m. The clear day would be amazing. Foggy day should be think twice.

this was on my bucket list but i would advise against going here during Jan - early Mar.
Visibility is absolutely TERRIBLE. it's cold and you will most likely get sick if you walk the entire way and you aren't in prime condition.
Nonetheless, it was pretty okay but just wish that I was actually able to enjoy it instead of just falling completely sick :(

If you don't want to hike, I recommend to buy the full tickets including the peak rail, this place is huge and there are much more to see up there. You can spend half day exploring and enjoying this place.

Beautiful hike up the mountain. A pity we didn't manage to see the sunrise. Opt for the cable car down post the hike, offers a different view of the region
The Cable Car Station Sapa is a popular tourist attraction that offers aerial cable car rides between Sapa and Fansipan Peak. The journey provides breathtaking views of the mist-covered spring scenery and colorful Buddhist flag road. At either end, there are temples, restaurants, and shops for visitors to enjoy. Fansipan Peak is the highest mountain in Vietnam and often called the "Roof of Indochina." It's a popular destination for those seeking adventure and memorable experiences.
Great place! Recommended to bring a jacket if you get cold easily as the temp can drop to 14 degrees Celsius

This is a must visit as the views are absolutely breathtaking! Gotta get lucky though as your views could be limited on a cloudy day. The lines can be long on the cable cars, but they do move quickly. Definitely need to come back again!

I have been here for the hot and cold season. I would prefer the hot season more because the visibility is very clear and you can see everything. Especially during the cable car ride. The view is spectacular. During the cold season, basically it is just a white fog.

The cable car ride brings you to near the top of Fansipan. Ticket are pretty expensive, but worth going once. Best time to go during the autumn , worst time to go during winter. Catching sunrise/sunset really depends on pure luck.

We can't describe the beauty of this place in words. Cable car is a lifetime experience. One must visit this place to experience the beauty of nature from the closest possible way. Magnificent view of mountains, waterfalls, dense forest from the top is breathing. Loved it.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Fansipan, the highest peak in Vietnam, and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience.
The cable car ride is a highlight of the trip, it provides breathtaking views of the rice terraces and steep cliffs below.
When you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of cloud-covered peaks spanning all the way to the horizon.
Fansipan's cloud patterns vary every few seconds, offering new shapes and vistas as the earth meets the sky.

Must visit place if you are planning to visit SAPA.. this is one of the height pic of the mountain.. one thing to remember before visiting this place.. you need to walk a lot.. if you are heart patient avoid to visit.. or if you are leasy to walk avoid the place to visit.. but one important point if you avoid to visit this place i must say you have missed the beautiful place to visit.. the rope way (cable car) service is so nice.. the management is so proper.. the cable are takes almost 20 mins to get it there at the top.. it feels like you are going from downward to upwards in between the clouds. (must experience it) .. after coming out of the cable car, you feel like you are in haven. the pagoda is very beautiful. also one more thing there is an train inside this place which runes on 90 degree angle, must ride once.. the charges are extra for this.. the beauty from top of the mountain is like (no words to explain).. check my photos for more details.. take water with you while visiting this place..

Outrageous views and stunning world record holder cable car. If you’re lucky enough to ascend 3200m and have a view, then count your blessings. Clouds and mist roll through like a surreal landscape. Simply stunning. ENTIRE views of Sapa valley as you ascend. 1,000,000 VND for entire round trip ascent of funicular, tram, and cable car.

Long line, but it moves quickly and great views on the way! The top can be cloudy, depending on the day you visit, but still well worth the trip. Vendors outside have surprisingly low prices souvenirs as well! Lots of fun and super glad we did it! We missed out the first day since the ticket office closes at 4pm, so keep that in mind!
Casey Iiams-hauser — Google review
Very fun, it is broken into 2 stops. One you take a "train" up, once at that location you can walk around, see the gardens, then take the tram the final leg of the trip. It was lovely in Sa Pa but it sure changed once we reached the summit
Loretta Lundquist — Google review
Very pricey way to get up a mountain. They really force you to walk through the gauntlet of souvenir stands and eateries which was unwanted. However, the temple and monastery complex at the top of the mountain is impressive. And the views are incredible.

We had a great experience, even though the weather was bad (foggy, windy). It was still very much worth the trip. The cable car ride is exciting with long overspans and great views over the terraced farms and nature on the mountains. It was a bit windy, and the cabin was swaying a bit. We bought a vip package, which is well worth the money as you can skip all lines in the train and cable car and have a cabin for yourselves.
Gerrit ten Bolscher — Google review
Great place to visit, the views were great. Too bad when we reached the peak it was cloudy.
The views up to the peak was great.
Recommend buy the VIP package.
Recommend around 4-5 hours to spend on both sides of the attraction.
Get the tram up to the peak, don’t save on that’s then walk down instead.

I’m not sure if the crowd would be lesser during weekdays. Went on a weekend and was pushed and shoved around by their local people, there is zero queue management, the locals do not care if you’re pregnant or old, they still shove you out of the queue.
Not suitable for elderly and young toddlers. Would NOT recommend unless the management practise better coordination and educate all visitors on queueing and patience.
Regrettably a bad experience, plenty of clouds. Weather is unpredictable and checking the forecast does not help at all.

very beautiful magnificent view sometimes cloudy then sun breaks through the clouds mystic and and incredible nice temple place

A breathtaking gondola which is a very long route with a stunning view.
It takes you around 15 min to reach the highest peak in Indochina.
Advice to buy a ticket in advance to minimize a waiting time

Wonderful cable car experience to reach the top of Indochina, the Fansipan. There are 3 kinds of transportation to reach fansipan. First is funicular train from sun plaza to mung hoa station, second is the cable car from mung hoa station to fansipan station, and the third is monorail from fansipan station to fansipan peak. However you can choose to walk from fansipan station to fansipan peak and save you some money. The total cost if you use all mentioned transportation is about 50USD, so it's advised to book your ticket online.
Danny Kwan — Google review
We loved this experience, even on a stormy wet day. The temples and statues are beautiful, the cafe at the top, although expensive, made the best hot chocolate we have ever tasted, the cable car ran smooth and was roomy with insane views of the valley below, and to cap it all there was a break in the cloud which gave us a glimpse out, a rainbow and the most atmospheric photos. Highly recommend.

A must go place if you are in Hanoi, despite traveling to Sa Pa, Lao Cai by road takes about 6 hours. Best to go is in the morning, opens from 0815hrs, while the afternoon sun is not out. There will be queue surely but quite quickly it flows. Last train will be 1530hrs from SaPa station.
The Muong Hoa Valley is a scenic area that features terraced rice fields and villages. The valley has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is well known for its unusual sandstone carvings.

We did 7 days trip in north Vietnam with Zonitrip and we couldn't choose better!
Our lovely guide Nghia took care of our trip so comprehensively we did not have to worry about anything. Both the guide and the driver were very friendly and professional!
After the trip we know that we wouldn't experience even half of what we did without them - she showed us the most secluded paths, introduced to local people, showed the everyday life of Vietnamese people on the countryside (e.g. home fresh noodle manufacture, tea production in the backyard etc).
Additionally we didn't know what to expect in Vietnam in terms of vegetarian food, but with Nghia it was no concern at all. Every meal was a feast! Plenty of delicious vegetarian options.
Tuan is an amazing driver, very calm and patient. The car was comfortable, he stopped every time we asked, kept the car sparkling clear throughout the whole trip.
At first we were a little bit unsure if a guided trip is for us, as we prefer to travel on our own. However it turned out to be simply amazing experience! She gave us as much privacy as we needed, while being around to share fascinating stories or just for a friendly chat.
5 five stars, no doubts!!!

One of The Most Memorable Parts of Our Trip!
We absolutely LOVED this three day, two night trip with Nghia! We started from Hanoi and made our way up north to Mu Cang Chai. We spent the first day trekking to a tea farm up in the mountains and spent the first night at a homestay. We biked through rice fields, met locals and learned a lot about the community. We trekked up in Mu Chang Chai the second day via motorbike, walking and met locals, including our tour guide. As a traveler here, you need to be flexible and willing to experience the trip, even when the conditions aren't ideal. It rained some on the second day, and was very muddy, but I think that gave the day an even better memory.
Our meals were also very yummy and we were able to experience all sorts of local delights.

The 4 days spent with the tour organized by Zonitrip were truly exceptional!
We visited places that would otherwise have been impossible to visit independently. Everything organized to perfection, from the driver to the places to sleep, from meals with local food to overnight stays.
A true immersion in Vietnamese culture and customs!
If you also add friendliness, fun and wonderful evenings together to all this, this is ZoniTrip!
Great! Thanks for everything

Nghia from Zonitrip tailored our 6 nights trip to North Vietnam to our needs. She knew the hikes and their rigor very well and she was very careful in planning our daily adventures. This was the BEST cultural experience for us and it was enlightening to visit authentic remote villages where no other tourists go!

“Very great trip to mount Fansipan !”
5 of 5 starsReviewed 5 days ago NEW
Thanks Zonitrip for this great experience ! We climbed the mount Fansipan, the highest point in Vietnam. We were in Yen Bai which is 3hours from Hanoi by bus. Nghia organised everything for us, as dropped us on the Highway at midnight to catch the bus to Sapa !
We were only four in our group, and we started to hike the first day and we slept in the base camp (2800m). Good atmosphere and good people over there ! The guide cooked a great meal for us and we spent good time drinking some local alcohol and beers (you can find beers in the hut but you have to bring your own alcohol wink emoticon
The day after we started to hike around 6.30am for 2 hours until the top of the Fansipan.
Unfortunately it was really cloudy, like almost every day so no regrets !
We decided to go down by the cable car (600 000 dng) cause of the rain. We had time to visit around Sapa and to meet some locals before to take the bus. The city is really nice even if it's extremely touristy...
We went back in Yen Bai around 8pm and Nghia was waiting for us with her husband to dropped us at home.
That was 2 really nice days ! Thank you so much for everything ! I highly recommend Zonitrip !

Amazing tour with zonitrip. The countryside in Vietnam. I visited Mu Cang Chai, is so peaceful, with pure air, fresh food and friendly local people. My tuor guide said there were many other places to discover in Vietnam. And i think i'll comeback in the near future.
Striking natural area with conservation sites, jagged mountains & scenic panoramas.
Beautiful view on the top. Remember to buy something to support the locals even if it’s a little bit.

Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark: This, according to an information area near the road, is the start point of the DONG VAN KARST PLATEAU. The main feature of the ride from here to Dong Van is the rugged karst (sedimentary limestone) terrain which route QL4C runs through, on the way to Don Van Township. The ride is quite spectacular with lots of small peaks (hills) covered with jagged limestone rocks. There’s a parking area just of route QL4C which has some information billboards and drink sellers. The side road which heads around the side of the hill goes through some spectacular terrain with excellent views of the landscape, across to the west. Take a short ride (2 km) up this side road to get some great photos.
Safe travels,
Mega.

Loved travelling by those twists and turns. As soon as you go up the slope there are few sellers selling fruits and other things to eat. Also, there are children carrying flower baskets for tourists to take pics along with them for a fee. We didn't take any pictures with them, so don't know about the price.
Protected forest around a freshwater lake with cliffs & caves, home to pangolins & black bears.
Beautiful scenery. It's stunning to ride the boat on Ba Be lake, especially when you going through the cave. It's worth for a visit to this beautiful place.

A Moonlight Boat Ride
Have you ever thought about riding a boat in a huge lake full of moonlight? That is sure a romantic moment. It may help you imagine this picture, the journey advertisement that I got from the Line a while ago.
... Couple Boat Line is offering a new romantic boat that you all can enjoy. We have a special deal all night round on our couple boat. This special one night Couple Boat leaves from the edge and stops at the center of the lake. There is so much for all of you to see and feel.
On the boat, we have a variety of great food for dinner and night. We also have lots of lovely and deep gifts. There are candles and music in all your own spaces. For those who love experiencing loneliness, we arrange a sad private view that makes them feel personal. Experience their silence night is not the only feeling the people can have. They can touch the light waves in the lake or let themselves following in the shadow of the moon. There is a variety of beverages people can enjoy a full night.
In the center of the lake, you can even sleep, eat, and drink while you see all the beautiful sight. With several hours on the boat, you can have plenty of time to explore your deep inside. Does this sound romantic? It is! So when it's time to plan your next trip. Remember our Couple Boat Line. It will be a trip you will never forget.

Ba Be is a surprisingly low key tourist destination, a picture perfect mountain lake surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The main accommodation options are simple homestays in a small hilltribe village. It's a lovely place, but sadly, while the lake is nice to look at, there's not much to do, really. Boat trips are more geared towards domestic tour groups and quite pricey, and I didn't find any suitable place for a nice swim anywhere around.

To get the most out of this park, a boat ride is a must. From afar, it doesn’t look much but as the boat take you closer, the details comes out. No matter how good the pictures are, it does not do this park any justice. Definitely need to see it for yourself.

Took a short boat ride to the temple island, bit expensive at 300k each plus 70k each for park fees plus bike parking. Beautiful lake, probably worth the extra dong to get up to the Falls and through the cave.

The experience is incredible and it is a lake in the middle of north eastern Vietnam. It is great and there are boats transporting you between points of the lake. However, there is not much to do there else ways and not many tourists either. It is very inaccessible though, as we got there on a bus transporting food although we left from Sapa. We also rented a motorbike which was not the best idea considering it is very rainy and muddy and we got very hurt.

Nice national park north Vietnam, authentic homestays to relax and enjoy this natural area
John J — Google review
Not the easiest place to get around as a solo traveller, using the local buses, but if you want to get away from the more popular tourist routes then I recommend it. The homestays will help you get a boat on the lake. When it's hot and humid, it's great to get on the water.

Ba Be national park is huge natural reserve in North Vietnam. We were told it is more than 23000 hectares in size. One of the highlight is the Ba Be lake which is a natural lake amidst limestone cliffs. There are also few beautiful caves and waterfalls. So refreshing to go on a long boat ride on the lake. There are lot of trekking trails around Ba Be lake and these are a must do. There are also bicycle tours to go around the lake. The road is pretty good and hardly there is traffic. Visit the Ba Be tourism centre at the entrance of the national park to get more details.
