How long is the drive from Chiang Dao to Chiang Rai?
The direct drive from Chiang Dao to Chiang Rai is 109 mi (175 km), and should have a drive time of 2 hrs 43 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Chiang Dao to Chiang Rai, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Wat Tham Pha Plong and Wat Tham Chiang Dao, or the ever-popular Doi Chiang Dao.
The top stops along the way from Chiang Dao to Chiang Rai (with short detours) are Wat Rong Khun - White Temple, Baan Dam Museum, and Doi Mae Salong. Other popular stops include Chiang Rai Clock Tower, Wat Tham Chiang Dao, and Chiang Rai Night Bazaar.
Doi Chiang Dao is a remote mountain situated in the heart of a wildlife sanctuary, boasting an extensive range of bird species and forested trails. This Thai mountain peak offers breathtaking views that are considered to be among the best in Thailand. A trek up Doi Chiang Dao typically takes around 4-5 hours and visitors must adhere to strict rules to preserve its natural beauty. The night sky view from atop this mountain is spectacular while the sunset view surpasses the sunrise experience.
This is our favourite mountain area in whole Thailand for trekking and running. It's wild, steep and absolutely beautiful. There are several summits at 2000m high and the highest point is at 2225m. The view at the top is one of the best in the country.
Unfortunately it is now almost impossible to visit due to restrictions by National Park. It is open only 4 months a year (November to February) and limited to 50-100p a day. The process to apply is also very complicated and almost impossible if you don't speak Thai. In addition, conditions of admission change every year.
Hopefully there are also secret routes all around the mountains that allow enjoying Doi Chiang Dao without all these bureaucratic paperwork and conditions.
Thailand Mountain Trail — Google review
One of the best hikes you can do in Thailand.
Going up is a bit of a challenge. Starting with the paperwork to get a permit in advance (several days), pay entrance tickets, do all the necessary deposits (for behaviour, trash) or you can just get all these if you hire a guide.
So we did the official version of the hike via the natural park HQ. There are 2 trails. We did the longer but more convenient one 8500km). First you will be transported by a truck to the place of hike start. Will take 1hr to get there and out of it its 45 mins of dusty road. So if you will be at the back of the truck, have a proper dust protection and get ready to be totaly dusty.
Hike starts easy and later steep up. Its a kinda medium level hike for me but i think its not for ppl with some leg disabilities. The most challenging part is to go up to the summit. Dust, rocky and if rains then super slippery.
Camp is basic, nothing up there besides tents and gas heaters for cooking so you have to bring everything or you can hire a porter.
Up at the summit is amazing (see pictures).
This place is for all nature and hiking lovers.

One of the most beautiful area within a few hours driving distance of Chiang Mai city center.
If you are driving, please be warned that the drive uphill is a bit steep and narrow in several area. The travel is definitely worth it. There aren't many places selling water or food the closer you are to the top, so take your supplies accordingly.

The morning and the night before we hiked was rain so the trail is super slippery and dangerous. Our group members cover with all of muds because they fallen down.
It was super difficult for beginner like us but once we reach the highest point all of those tired feelings was gone. The view from the peak was very beautiful.
Lot of foreigners groups going up and down in 1 day but for us we couldn’t do that, it is too tough so we stayed the night and go down next morning.
At the camping site no food no water no electricity you have to prepared everything yourself or buy a tour so they will prepare for you.
FYI: You can’t go up alone you need to hire local guide to go up there.
The park office is located around 5km from Chiang Dao downtown you can get all useful information, pay for all the fees and get the permission to enter the park from there.

The best view in Thailand imo. Trekking lasts around 4-5 hours. Strict rules but that’s why it is so natural and real. Stars in the night is insane. Sunset is better than sunrise. Limit water up there, bring it yourself

Hiked there on our own, just hitchhiked to the starting point, followed the GPS up to 3hrs up, 1,5h down (but really running to catch bus back to Chiang Mai)... It is not recommended until you are experienced, bit crazy, well packed and ready for unexpected things. Rather book your guide...

Wat Tham Pha Plong is a Buddhist temple situated on a hilltop in the jungle. The temple can be reached via a staircase adorned with Buddha proverbs and scriptures written in English. Despite its peaceful and secluded atmosphere, the temple is currently closed due to Covid-19 regulations, but visitors interested in staying overnight must obtain permission ahead of time. This tranquil place offers an opportunity for meditation amid lush forests and diverse birdlife.
A very peaceful place to come and pray. Here is a complete forest with many kinds of birds.

The temple is currently under reconstruction, but the beautiful walk through the serene garden leading up to it is well worth it. There are about 500 steps but the climb is not difficult and they go down in some parts too. Stopping along the way, you can relax observing the stream and the many interesting flowers and figures that embellish this meditative minihike.

After a moderate strenuous walk you reach the end of the stairs. Along the walk are numerous Bhudist scriptures readable in English as well making this a walk well spent.
Unfortunately the pagoda is currently closed. So i must return another time!

Really great temple where you can meditate after a short hike up (500 steps). Surrounded by lush forest, mountains and beautiful fog. The path up is lined with wisdom about dhamma and meditation and the entire place is kept very clean. Visitors are encouraged to help bring food and supplies up to the kitchen

A secluded, peaceful and tranquil place for meditation. Temple stay is welcomed but you need to contact and get permission ahead of your arrival due to Covid-19 measure.

00 staircases. The temple is really nice. I recommend it because it is a quiet and good place to calm your mind.

Beautiful temple that brings you to a wall through a path of stairs in the jungle to reach the temple itself.
The walk is relaxing and make you feel the instincts of meditation: peace, silence and breathing.
Totally recommended and please do not talk during the wall, just awareness.
Enrique — Google review
Peaceful. Serene. One with nature. Founded by a monk who wandered wilderness contemplating life & buddhas teachings for decades & came upon this his final place.
Ashton Lee — Google review
Of all the temples and monasteries I visited, this one is my 1A favorite. Home to Luang Pu Sim Phuttajaro, Rest in Aloha, his spirit and teachings are evident throughout the place. Located at the foot of a mountain, nestled within a well maintained tropical rainforest, it is the most peaceful temple I visited. I went there nearly every morning to do meditation then watch the sunrise. The energy there is powerful, fresh, and clean. The silence during that time of day just helps you to be with yourself and clear whatever inside may be coming up. There weren't very many visitors early in the day, so if you want an experience like I had, come early. But come... compared to many other temples which regrettably feel like tourist traps, this one retains a sacred aura and vibe.
Remember to dress appropriately and to take off your shoes when asked. I've encountered quite a few birders there as well as some hikers as there are nearby trails. On the weekend there is a small food stall there selling drinks and vegetarian fried rice. There are 500 steps to get to the cave, so be mentally and physically ready to do that. Enjoy 🙏🏽🤙🏽
Jerome Bautista — Google review
Amazing place for a leisurely walk. You will need to climb about 500 stairs to reach the cave temple. On the way up, you can read Buddhist wisdom on the tablets. Unfortunately, now chedi on the top is under reconstruction, but that doesn't make the trip any less interesting.
Oleh Lytvynenko — Google review
One of the best monasteries I’ve ever been too! Everyone was so welcoming and I even got to offer some food to the monks and was then invited to eat with the cooks. A memorable experience and one of the many reasons I absolute love Thailand and adore the people here 🙏🏻☺️✌🏻
Thomas Allen — Google review
A must visit. A nice walk up the steps with Buddhist quotes along the way. There are butterflies everywhere and the constant sound of wind chimes is soothing.
At the top you will be rewarded with a short history of a well respected monk (in English) and gorgeous views.
Ladies have to dress appropriately. There is no entrance fee.

Wat Tham Chiang Dao is a magnificent natural cave temple that houses various religious statues including Buddhas. The temple boasts of stunning stalactites and even has a fish pond. Visitors can explore the caves within the temple with the help of an English guide who works on tips. However, elderly individuals and pregnant women should exercise caution as some parts of the cave are slippery and narrow. While it is highly recommended to take the guided walk, visitors with mobility issues or small children may find it challenging.
Worth the visit! The cave is an eye opening experience! Must visit with a tour guide (200 baht per group not including tip for the guide). There are several local guides by the cave entrance. My two boys (3 and 5) are amazed! First time seeing bats!
Lily Chang — Google review
Cool cave. Gotta give a 200bht donation and you'll get one local to show you around with a lamp. Tourguide takes you around for about 15-20 minutes where the guide will describe rocks for you. You'll also need to go through a couple tiny spaces. The cave gets a bit hot after a while because of the lamp and little air circulation. It's also kind of slippery at some points.
Would recommend checking it out only if you're already in the area otherwise it's almost just like any other cave

It’s a must visit place to check out the beauty that nature has created within this cave. There will be a nice local guide lighting and guiding your way through the cave, the session takes up 20 - 30 mins. So, be prepare and watch your steps.

During our visit to the cave Buddha temple, we were fortunate enough to have a knowledgeable ex-monk as our local tour guide. The temple was not too crowded, as it was a Sunday. It was fascinating to learn about the history and significance of the temple through our guide's explanations. The cave temple has two sides to it, and visitors can choose to explore either of them. One side requires some crawling effort, suitable for the adventurous heart, while the other is more of a walk through the cave. Both sides offer unique experiences that are worth exploring.
Besides the temple, the village outside is also worth a visit. The local food and goodies are a must-try and can add to the overall experience.

A very enjoyable cave to visit. I would recommend taking the extra guided walk, but not for small children or people with lack of mobility.
The downside is the dual pricing system at the entrance.

Chiang Dao Cave has free parking, has restaurants on the outside of the complex, some smaller shops outside, And a beautiful temple complex on the outside. Once you pay the small entry fee to enter you come into the main complex entrance area and you will see a group of Thai people with lanterns. A pathway that is dark and says enter at your own risk without a guide who are the people with the lanterns and will cost you 200 Baht you show you around and a pathway that is lit up by electricity. We paid the money and had the guide take us into the dark area of the cave. It’s hard to take photos or film as you can see in some of my photos and there is also some areas where you have to get almost on your hands and knees to crawl through with poor lighting. The dark area was so so and the caves were large and open in areas and probably interesting to those that love caves. Personally I would recommend not pay the 200 Baht and just pay the entry fee and explore the well lit area as it’s just as beautiful and a nice walk and you don’t have to go in both directions. I thought it was one of those tourist traps where you pay the entry fee once you enter. But if you are a cave lover maybe it’s not a tourist trap for you. There are sections that maybe flooded in wet season in the poorly lit area I understand. I will put a YouTube video up on this shortly on my channel The Travelling Social Worker in Thailand.

One of the stops on our day trip, was to this cave. Pretty typical cave with prayer artifacts, tiny bats and crickets. There are local guides that will bring u through with a kerosene lamp. Small crevices to crawl through, challenging if u have knee/joint/back issues. Personally I'm larger and have mild back issues but was able to get through.

Pretty cool cave to visit, 40 baht to enter and walk along the lighted portion, you can actually keep walking on the right by yourself beyond the first point where there are guides and signs saying you have to pay an extra 200 baht for a guided tour. You can go for a short walk around the surrounding forest as well

Pretty cool temple to visit. The regular entrance ticket gets you to just the illuminated areas of the cave temple which has a lot of Buddhist statues.
The real beauty of this place lies in the special tour where you need to book the local guide who takes you through all the secret tunnels with a kerosene lamp. It was a real adventure where you need to crawl on your knees to get through some of the passages.
Filled with bats and really beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, the guide, who speaks limited English tries to explain the different carvings and formations on the cave walls.
Ashley Fernandes — Google review
Beautiful cave, the deeper part required a tour guide which will hold a lanturn and lead you the way.
It is not very educative, though. It's more like the local imagination the shape of those stalactites.
There are a few great hugh halls with super high ceilings that impress me the most.
Bring your own head torch. it would be more fun to look around by yourself.

Strongly recommended as there are caves to explore inside the temple. The big cave is huge and needed a local guide to navigate (English guide is available for free but tips are welcome). Took about 30 mins in there but was worth it!
*Elderly and pregnant woman should beware as the cave is dark, slippery and narrow at some points.

This place is worth a visit if you come to Chiang Dao. But in general, nothing special. The cave is divided into 2 parts - public and accessible with a guide. The entrance fee for the first is 40 baht, the guide fee is 200 baht. Pretty nice territory of the temple, there is a small museum and a small beautiful lake.

Naturally cool inside the temple cave, lit with electricity at public part if one does not want to hire a guide to explore the unlit part. Exterior is prettied up for taking photos. One can donate 9 baht to get a lucky ribbon and make a wish. Need a translator app because the ribbons come in specific colors that match the type of intention!

I visited this dark cave out of a random plan and it was worth it. It is a complete dark cave with the gas lantern as the only source of light.
Pros
1. Free parking
2. The ticket price is 40 THB.
3. You must get a guide around 200 THB, maybe a bit less. It is recommended to tip the guide. The guide comes with the gas lantern to explore deeper parts of the cave.
4. It is a different thrilling adventure to visit a completely dark cave with bats. Bats are mostly sleeping.
5. It is a big cave. It might get upto 50 meters high and wide at halls.
6. There are several shops that sell food, coffee and more.
Considerations
1. Please carry and wear sturdy shoes, maybe trekking shoes or crocs. The road could be slippery at times.
2. Might not be recommended for people with walking issues.
3. Might carry a torch 🔦 or flashlight though it is mostly not needed. The external flash might be a good idea for the camera.
4. The claustrophobic or nyctophobic persons might want to skip.

Nice place, nice atmosphere. Very close to the Giant Tree Alley. The entrance fee for the cave is 40 baht and if you like adventure, you can hire a lamp and local guide which costs 200 baht for a group. The trip is about 750 meters long. There are two very narrow places in the cave. There are places where you can slip so be careful.

It’s a cute cave, the illuminated part is rather short. Local guides will be super happy if you choose to go with them to the dark part of the cave, which is only possible with a guide. We didn’t do that.
If you are in the area already, it’s a nice activity for 1-2 hours. Just going to see the cave is not really worth it in my opinion.
Entrance was 30 or 40 Baht.

Interesting cave. I would recommend taking a guide to the other part with no lights - seems more unpaved path with a lot of bats and some spiders. It’s not that difficult but in few places you have to go on your knees. Entry is 40 bat plus 200 bat if you decide to go with the guide.

Nice walk around temple, quite busy and lots of free parking space.
20-40THB ticket fee to the cave, once you enter there’re 2 paths to go
1. Short walk w/o guide in the cave
2. Long walk with 200THB fee with guide and lantern
I chose to pay more and it rewarded me surprisingly. Highly recommended for anyone who still good with thier back and knee. You would feel how scary it is once the light go dark, i mean completely dark !

The Cave Bar is a unique and charming spot located near a junction in Chiang Dao. Despite its remote location, it offers an extensive selection of bottled craft beers and rotating draught options, giving off a chic bistro vibe more commonly found in urban areas. The bar is known for its imported beers and the knowledgeable Dutch owner, who acts as a beer sommelier to guide patrons through the diverse choices.
Buppha is great! She organises trekking tours 30 minutes drive outside Chiang Doa Cave bar. Just the trip getting to the start of the trail is amazing ❤️. For us, a family with two kids (12, 14y), it was exhilarating 1,5h hike to a beautifull waterfall. Buppha made lunch served in fresh bananaleaf. Really worth every penny.

The Cave Bar is a very special bar run by a very special lady. It’s my second time in Chiang Dao, and I happened upon it the first time I came. Thankfully, it hasn’t changed at all and the bar is as great as ever. Chilled and local with a mix of interesting expats. It seems to attract great people who are always warm and welcoming- It’s somewhere I would make a point of coming back to.
Tip: ask Buppa to make your margarita – they’re fantastic!

Buppha was so welcoming as soon as we entered the bar. The bar is incredibly quirky and unique and a great range of choice of drinks.
Buppha gave us loads of great advice and locals tips and tricks of what do in the area and further north of Thailand.

The owner is one of the meanest people you will ever encounter in Thailand. She's incredibly greedy and showed no respect for my time when I waited two hours for a motorbike and still had to pay the full price. Her behavior was very rude and unprofessional. I strongly advise against using any of her services, as she is irresponsible and unreliable. You'll find much better service and more respect at another place for the same price. She is the opposite of what you'd typically expect from Thai people.

This review is only for the bike rental and not the restaurant. Got here before 5pm when the restaurant wasn’t open, so just rented bicycles.
The bike rental was really cheap, but the bikes are really poorly maintained. Had to try out all the bikes before we could find 2 in decent rideable condition.
The owner is nice and friendly and also organizes hiking tours around Chiangdao.

The word bar in the name of this place doesn’t do it enough just; it is so much more than that. Be it a drink, food, renting a bike or motorcycle, getting laundry done, accommodation or a chat you need, this place can make it all happen. All made possible by lovely heart warming people run it. So there simply is no reason to not go here when you’re paying a visit to Chiang Dao.

Out of tourist season but this place provided an essential self service washing machine and dryer and scooter rental at a great price. Also helps me learn the ropes of scooter use as a first time user. Bar also has a quirky positive vibe with pool, darts and a drum kit! The food was excellent.
The scooter we rented was sturdy and served us well and roads and drivers were very easy to drive with.

I came across the cave bar by sheer luck. This gem has an owner who is as kind as she is accommodating. I relied on the cave bar for multiple services—food, a night out, scooter rental, and taxi service. All exceeded expectations.
The food - I ate green curry and sushi. The green curry was fresh, had great flavor, and was filling. Noot is a great cook.
The sushi blew me away - in an unexpected treat, they also serve top-notch sushi. Andy, who trained at the world-famous Nobu, made a delicious shrimp roll and combo platter. This was fine dining in a casual setting. Amazing.
I personally met them and let them know how I enjoyed the food.
A night out - Chiang Dao is a peacefully cute sleepy town, and if you want to go somewhere to meet friends and locals, the cave bar is the place. I made multiple friends who helped me around Chiang Dao, including the owner, Buppha. She gave me fair prices on anything and is a very good person all around.
Scooter rental - seamless and was on a bike in under 15 minutes.
Taxi service - Buppha organized a seamless transfer at a fair price.
Overall, in the short period of time I was in Chiang Dao, the Cave Bar and all of its services, along with its great people who work and meet there, made my experience in Northern Thailand one of the best I have had. I will be back, and the Cave Bar and its people are one of the reasons I will return.

Found this place by accident on a rainy night. I was actually heading to Jin’s - a top rated Italian restaurant a few metres up the road - but it was closed and I saw this bar on the way back. I stopped to see if they served food, and they did. Excellent western and Thai food, great atmosphere and a lovely owner who makes margaritas that pack a punch! Will definitely be back when I’m next in Chiang Dao.

This bar has a cool vibe. The food is delicious! We had a pie and green curry, both were great. The bar has darts, pool table and loads of games. The owner is super friendly as well! We had a fun night here and definitely recommend.

Few hours drive from Chiang Mai, on the way to Fang. Japanese style theme park, must visit if you fancy Japan and looking for an excursion. There’s a coffee shop and restaurant onsite. Entry fee 80 Baht for Adult, same for everyone (no dual pricing). Can spend an hour or more, as the place is outdoors plan early or evening hours.

This place is very impressive ! The structure is made entirely of wood. The gardens surrounding the structure are filled with flower gardens. The mountains provide a beautiful back drop for photos. You can easily spend all day at this place if you enjoy taking photos. There are a couple of restaurants and a coffee shop here. I am happy I come here today.

New attraction, spend about 1 hour visiting and photo. Good family visit. Music not Japanese but Thai... Feel weird. During winter full blossom.
Richmond Ho — Google review
This place is so utterly random. What an idea to recreate a Japanese temple and Japanese style houses in the middle of the northern Thai countryside! It is kitch of course but what a sight! And the surroundings are stunning too. Some of the shops were closed when we went though.

Visited here from Fang (whilst staying at the Jayzada hotel in Fang) with 3 Thai and 2 Singaporean friends. Attractive place to visit. It is possible to dress up in Japanese dress, but none of us opted for this. I enjoyed walking in the gardens and buildings. My friends enjoyed the shops. We didn't go to coffee shop, but we tried both the green tea and the milk ice cream 😋😋😋 It was great fun feeding the fish. You can buy a small bag of pellets to feed them. Worthwhile visit.

An amazing space of Japanese culture in the middle of Thailand, massive open spaces and well maintained gardens, super picturesque place that makes even a shrek like me feel photogenic hahaha, I was truly impressed by the structure in the centre that's entirely made with wood that portrays the expert japanese craftsmanship, great resteraunt with authentic and fresh Japanese cuisine, I went a wee overboard at the souvenir shop where I realized some of the exhibits in the park were for sale amd got myself those windsock fish and even a 15 foot giant kite haha. My better half and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience here, especially feeding the koi fish and walking through the lavender fields. It's a fantastic place for photo ops.

Beautiful place! GOOD parking lot.
For Foringner s that have work permit or Thai driver licence the entrance is free, For those that have not the entrance is 80 bath.
Amazing Japanese architecture, a lake full of fishes that you can feed.
There is Japanese clothing that you can rent to take pictures.
There is a small market and a restaurant/ cafecafe, which will cost around 80-300 bath for a meal.
Adam Ferraz — Google review
Almost like Japan. Be sure to be there early when it's less crowded or vice versa if it's almost closing time. Reason entrance fee and Kimono/Yukata rent inside for those who are Japanese culture enthusiasts. This place is a must visit..You can say you went to "Japan" like no one will know vibe. 😉

We visited hinoki land during the week on lunch time and there were almost no other tourists.
The gardens and exhibitions are very well maintained and clean.
Next time we’ll probably visit in the evening as we’re guessing the light has to be fantastic.
One small downside: avoid the restaurant, as they are pretty incompetent.

This picturesque mountain near the Myanmar border features an agricultural research station.
So beautiful that you definitely must come here. There are a lot of hidden gems so make sure to walk around at the top. It’s popular for the cherry blossoms in January but it’s beautiful year round. The roads are steep so you need a car with a bit of umph but the roads are good.

It was so difficult to ride up here at Ang-Khang National Park. As you will see the screen which noticed all the way up here that "Do not use automatic motorcycle" and it was true because the road was very difficult with many slope even it was flat. I received many helps from local people there as I didn't get use to ride up there. By the way, the attractions were very very worthwhile.

Lovely view and nature but the viewpoint has become very popular over the last several years that it is very cramped and busy. It used to be just a simple wooden platform under the care of the army. Very nice amenities and nicely done though!

Is a great agriculture place. U can see very tall cactus trees, lots of flowers and fruits. If you want to experience plucking fruits, you have to plan according to the harvest season I only manage to snap a "schedule" for peach, plum & nectarine....

Did it in a 1.2c Nissan Almera with 70K kilometers on it. Was worried reading some reviews about that road up route 1249, only the last part is quite steep, got stuck below 5kmph , automatic car so no gear control but it could make it up. A lot of guys on the road waving you up which was extra encouragement. That last section up though with the warning sign against automatic bikes did frighten me though lol

I'll never travel to Chiang Rai without this trip planner again
Fang Hot Spring, located in Chiang Mai province, is a picturesque area within Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park. The site features thermal pools and an impressive geyser that shoots up to 50 meters high. Surrounded by forested hills, the open glade is dotted with rocks and tall trees, creating a scenic setting for visitors. While the hot mineral water for soaking feet may no longer be available, the hot springs offer a relaxing experience with their pleasant temperature.
Come here and spend 2 hours. Relax... Sauna bath, soak in hotspring. Boil the egg... Good place, well maintained, worth coming and revisit. Please keep clean
Richmond Ho — Google review
It was quite the drive from the main road to get here, but it is worth it. It is a beautiful piece of nature and you can see geysers here.
As a foreigner the entrance fee is not cheap. But it was lovely to sit in a few hot spring pools and sauna. That part is free when you purchased the entrance ticket.

As we know falang price is 10 more than Thai price .
The fang hot spring just isn't worth that . Quite a small park with little to do other than dip your feet in a warm pool .
We managed to find a bit of a walk that wasn't sign posted otherwise our visit would have been 30 mins .
Seams like it's mostly set up as a Thai camping / weekend bungalow resort . Not really worth visiting for a day as a tourist.
Real value 100 baht max per person not 300 baht as is charged .
Gave it 3 stars just so I don't get deported 🤣

Quite an interesting place to visit, but one time would be more than enough because there's not much to see here. Visiting it once was interesting enough though, I don't regret it, but I doubt I'd like to come here again. The park is really small. Might be good for a short family trip.

Visited on 12/12/2023...... The geyser is huge and shoots high.... The water is hot enough to be able to generate electricity...... Beautiful green place to take pictures...... However hot mineral water for soaking feet is no longer available....... a bit disappointed as I have driven quite far to reach this place.......

The farang (tourist) price is a bit high for a national park, but showing my Thai work ID and drivers license got a discount. The park is very nice and we had a great morning there seeing the hot springs and birding. Thai food at the park is local prices, not tourist prices so that is good!

A bit expensive for Thailand (tickets were 300BHT per person). However, it is such a peaceful and relaxing place you might want to visit it. Was a little disapointed that there weren’t that many swimming options in the hot springs, just one small pool for your feet.

Really amazing these hot springs - the place smell a bit - sulfur coming from underneath - the temperature of the bath is really nice and the sauna is really nice - they provide everything if you are not prepared - be careful with the sales ladies - they will not let you go with less then a kilo of strawberries ;-)

Feels brand new, has hot spring pools, hot mineral baths, and steam sauna room. It's basically a national park spa. It's a bit expensive for foreigners (300 baht), but for a chill relaxing afternoon, it's great. The rest of the park is walking paths with ponds and streams

Must visit! Less visited temple in between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. We visited on our private tour of Chiang Rai from Chiang Mai but this temple isn’t on as many of the similar itineraries for these trips.
We loved it! The entrance to the temple area is very grand with beautiful clouds painted on the underside for a dramatic effect. Many many beautiful pastel large statues. Statues up front representing good/evil, virtue/sin. Sins including sneakers, beer, etc. This is a more modern temple built in the last two decades I think.

By far one of the most beautiful temples I have ever been too. So many gorgeous building and statues. It is also way less busy then other popular tourist temples as it is far away from the city. Thanathon Orchard is a delightful orange farm and garden that offers visitors a pleasant experience. The entrance is free, and for a small fee, you can take a tram ride through the farm to enjoy the picturesque surroundings and gardens. While there, you can pluck some delicious oranges from the trees or purchase freshly squeezed orange juice at the shop. The oranges are juicy and refreshing, making them perfect for quenching your thirst. Additionally, you can capture beautiful moments with lovely photos of the area.
Entrance to the Orange Farm and gardens is free and so is the ride over the farm to the gardens in the back. From there you can take lovely pictures of the area and in the gardens. Dont forget to buy some banana chips (only 10 bht) and some fresh orange juice.

We didn't walk through the orchard, just a short distance along a path but I guess it summed it all. Quite pleasant although the weather was pretty hot. We did pluck a few oranges off the trees just to test them out and they were delicious. Back at the shop, we tried out the freshly squeezed orange juices and were very sweet. The oranges themselves were also delightfully thirst quencers, the meat so juicy. Worth a visit.

If you are thinking about doing this on a scooter then don’t. If you don’t have enough qualifications to rent a motorbike then you probably don’t have enough experience to do these roads. The green scenario of mountain is beautiful although there are a lot of people I'm still glad I came here. The atmosphere is quite nice, it's a fresh cold air on the mountain. But there are only few seats to sit compare with the people around I think it should have much more seat around, also, I think this place should add a fence or something to protect from falling down. The dogsheep deligent that keep all the sheep on the position. The wind blows all the time.
The sheep, they are fluffy and cute, walking everywhere and so friendly. But we need to be careful of their waste a bit because it's the same color as the soil and hard to notice.
The drink is good but a bit too slow for serving, maybe it's because of too much people in the same time so I don't really serious about that.
I feel like I want to come here every year after this time. It's really worth to stop by and appreciate the environment and nature. Clear your mind, chilling with your family, and rest nicely.

The Khun Korn Forest Park Waterfall is a mesmerizing sight with plenty of water flow even in the dry season. It can be accessed via a trail through bamboo trees and tropical vegetation, taking around 30 minutes uphill from the parking area after signing in at a checkpoint on the road. The hike is relatively easy but caution must be taken due to uneven and slippery ground. The waterfall is tall and impressive, emitting an incredible mist and wind.
Lovely waterfall, plenty of flow even now during the dry season. It's free to visit, you have to sign-in at a checkpoint on the road before getting to the parking area. It's then a lovely 30 min walk along a carved out forest trail steadily uphill to the Waterfall. I was first to arrive at 9.10am, all you could hear along the path was the sound of birds singing and the cascading water from the stream.

Definitely worth going, the trial is free! The views are great, make sure to already book a taxi for the way back, there are no taxi’s in the area around the waterfall and grabs also don’t come there. There are a lot of insects so if you don’t like that keep that in mind. Make sure to go early, the earlier the better, because there won’t be as much people, the roads will be less muddy, and the animals are waking up!

An amazing experience.
Make sure that you wear appropriate footwear and take water, as the hike up to the waterfall isn't the easiest, it takes at least 20-30 minutes at a steady pace! Also, take swim wear and a towel for the chance to take a dip in/under the waterfall!
Overall this place is great, quiet, and magical. Oh one more thing, take bug repellent!

Great waterfall, definitely worth a trip from Chiang Rai. Very quiet, we had the whole waterfall to ourselves. Walk takes about 30 mins to complete, take lots of water as it gets sweaty and mosquito repellent.

I enjoyed this waterfall visit. It was a decent drive outside of Chiang Rai, but worth it. The hike was easy through the national park, the path was well marked, and it was a glorious view when arriving to the waterfall. Don’t be afraid to get into the water. It was cool and refreshing. I recommend bringing water shoes if you plan to get into the water. Overall at nice trip and I recommend it. Cheers!

Beautiful, very tall waterfall even during dry season. The wind and mist that comes off it is incredible. The hike is well marked and relatively easy. Probably an hour or so round trip depending on ability level. The ground is uneven and slippery at points so be careful.

Free parking, no entrance fee. Plus it is very nice walk through the jungle and into the waterfall. Very nice nature, just driving throughout national park was amazing.

Absolutely loved the walk to the waterfall. Wasn't expecting the falls to have so much water since it hasn't rained in a while. I can only imagine wet season.

This was my second visit to this waterfall, the first being 5 years ago. Easy access from Chiang Rai, a 35 minute motorbike ride along well maintained roads. Access is free! The only toilets are located at the parking area. They were clean enough and had both squat and sit down style with water hose, but no paper or soap. The hike to the falls is around 3km round trip from the parking area. It's a little steep in some areas but easily achieved without training or special footwear. When you first pass under the entry sign, the trail splits left and right. Both trails end up at the waterfall, so you can take one path on the way up and the other path on the way down. And when you get about 200 meters from the waterfall the trail splits again, with both trails ending at the waterfall. The trail is well marked and well maintained all the way. It is slippery around the falls, as the water drops with such force that a misty wind is created and everything here is wet. Warning signs for snakes, but I didn't see any here on this day. I have seen the green pit vipers at other locations nearby though, so it's good to keep an eye out for them.

Really nice hike, takes about an hour in total. I would recommend to keep left and the way to the waterfall (mostly ascending path and a little bit kore challenging), and return with the other path which has a fee cool bamboo bridges with a flatter path.
Took a swim at the bottom of the river waterfall, though I would recommend bringing an extra pair of shoes!
Joppe Leenarts — Google review
A very nice place; we went thanks to a recommendation from someone we met. I would say the walk is of easy difficulty, but it's recommended to wear sneakers because there are places where you have to walk through water.

Amazing place, worth the visit!!! Loved the quiet trail alongside the river and treated to a spectacular waterfall!!
Arvind R — Google review
It's a super pretty waterfall, it's about a 2.5 km forest walk that is a little up and down and good sites are recommended. It's not super strenuous, but not usable if you have difficulty walking on rough terrain. It's definitely worth a visit. Bug spray is also recommended.
Timothy Hilgenberg — Google review
For a fairly fit person the hike is moderate. I felt that it was much shorter to get to the waterfall than the actual distance described. It is a lovely sight. Pool is not deep. Maximum 1.22m.
Avoid eating at the riverside restaurants just before you get to the park. Food is exorbitant, drastically over priced and taste horrible.
Enjoy the view with your sandwiches and let the Bhats stay in your pocket.

A great place to stop and buy souvenirs. The people were so friendly and it was great to see a little into their lifestyle and culture.

At first, I was wondering if it would be right to photograph these refugees from Myanmar, and then the guide informed us that this is the only way we can survive these peoples livelihood. I have even bought a handmade top and souvenir to support them.
However, I have one concern, Please notice the weight of the copper rings which are displayed for demonstration at the front. The guide will explain why the rings are necessary and the rings weigh close to 6 kilograms approximately. But if you touch the ones these Karens are wearing, you will notice that they are much lighter in weight, as though made of plastic or any other lighter material. 🤔

Strange place with empty and broken stalls at the entrance (around 300 m from main road), without people around 10:00 in the morning. They want 150,-BTH/person and we wasn’t sure if we will see something. We decided not to by a pig in a poke. It looks like tourist trap.

(Translated by Google) 1st village on the left, no long-necked Karen on the other hand people who absolutely want to sell you things and insist, who talk among themselves and who laugh as if they don't care about us... Very unpleasant experience!
We turn back to go straight, we see a sign "long neck village 100m" which we follow and we come across a young girl who asks us for 150 baths per person to go further! We decide not to go there, it then goes down to 100 baths. At no time are we told if there is anything further away or hand-made souvenirs to buy further away... Very disappointed, for me it's a tourist scam!!!

Singha Park Chiang Rai is a scenic park situated in a rural-like environment, featuring tea plantations, walking trails, orchards, and a petting zoo. The vastness of the park requires visitors to use transportation to explore different areas. Golf buggies are available for hire and can travel on designated lanes. Open-sided bus tours are also organized for tourists. Restaurants and shops are located near the main entrance of the park.
Nice place, we rent the golf car and went around, in an hourwe were back. Interesting place for bicycle, lots if Insta photo spots and after covid very empty.

1.) The location is good easy to find close to the street.
2.) They have free bus tour around the park , rent golf carts , motorbikes.
3.) The map is clear easy to understand.
4.) The activity is fun such as blend your own teas , Zip line , feed the animals, etc.
5.) They have many interesting things for example cosmos flowers, tea farm, banana farm, fish and swans pool, zoo, other flowers.
Totally is fun and interesting , it is good for family trip, the kids love it.

It's a nice big park to visit if you are around but not (yet) exceptional to go there just for that. I came there several years ago and I could see thst they have expanded to new activities and nice track to visit inside.
However, nothing much to do apart to enjoy the tour, taking picture of the scenery. There is a thai tea shop there.
We did the tour by renting a golf cart where you can drive yourself and visit at your own rhythm. I hope to see it expand more to make it 5 stars

Such a beautiful park.
Free entrance, the ideal way to explore it is with your scooter ( or car ). For the activities inside you'll have to pay, but it's also really nice to just explore it , enjoy the sunset ( there is a 7/11 not far away. If you are on budget you can just buy some drinks and snacks there and enjoy it by the lake )

If you have time, do visit this park. It is near the white temple and as such can be planned accordingly.
There is no entry fee but as the park is huge, it’s recommended you book some form of transport. They have several options available, and we went with bicycling.
They have a dedicated cycling route, which is scenic and great. However during the day, if the sun is up it can dehydrate you, so do carry refreshments to keep you going. You will even come across eateries if you need to refill up.
The park is full of greenery and as you drive along you come across a lake with swans adding a magical feeling. Thereafter, you come across a ranch where they have cafes.
We missed the mini-zoo on the way so we headed back. It’s a small one but does the job. Plus you can feed and interact with some of the animals.
Once done we reached back to the starting point where we got some refreshments and headed back to the town.

Riding golf cart enjoying the park! Arrived there early to hire golf cart and drove along the path visiting beautiful land area, park and mini zoo with birds, peacocks, bunnies, guinea pigs, cows, goats 🐐, mini pigs, giraffes 🦒, ostriches and zebras. There was also adventure activities like zip lining, ATV, scooters, biking, electric biking (which could go really fast and more for adults or young adults). When we were there we could smell forest burning which was quite annoying, I think they should seriously consider to do something about it because it was such a shame that such an amazing place was ruined because of the air you’d to breathe in PM2.5. All in all everyone in my group enjoyed the place.

Huge Park, you need transport to get around the place and see the different parts of the Park. You can hire Golf Buggys which are able to use a special lane. You can do an organised tour via open sided bus. There are restaurants here and a shop at the main entrance. The Singha Emblem at the entrance to the park seems to be the most popular photographic spot, particularly for selfies.

I was doubting if I should go there as it seemed to be just a park. I decided to go and it made my day. I rent an electric bike and it was super fun. You can enjoy a cup of alternative coffee made in the wild next to a lake with swans. Also you can rent a bicycle and explore even more roads.

Singha Park in Chiang Rai offers an incredible experience for families and kids. The mini zoo is delightful, allowing visitors to interact with various animals. The zip line adventure adds a thrilling touch, making it a well-rounded attraction. The lush greenery and picturesque landscapes create a beautiful atmosphere to explore. Without a doubt, it's the top destination for kids in Chiang Rai, providing entertainment and educational experiences in a single visit.

A huge park with tea plantation, flower field, farm and lake, and a few restaurants. Though you can drive in, you can only stop at 3 places. To fully explore the park, you rent an e-bike or golf cart. I would recommend 2-3 hours to explore this place. We came on Saturday, and there is an outdoor food market (Japanese themed). near the lake until nighttime.
It is just fun to explore the park using an electric vehicle, and plenty of photo op. Entrance is free, need to pay for optional electric vehicle rental though.

Super easy to get too, we took our scooter and found it really easy to navigate. Once we arrived we parked our bike and just started walking. We opted out of the golf cart we we thought the park was walkable but turns out that not many people walk the whole park ( haha) we really enjoyed our time at the petting zoo, you can pay 50 baht and they give you a little basket full of food to feed to the animals. We also walked up to the tea farm and over looked the fields, it made for a really great day.

We took bicycles to go around the park, it took 1h 45min (rent for the bike is 2h), it was fully enough. There is also a mini zoo with cute animals. Recommend!

Beautiful, well-maintained park.
150B and there's a little shuttle bus (like the one at Universal Studios) that runs every 15-30 min to each point of interest.
I suggest visiting after the white temple as it's nearby.
Lovely place to wind down or go on a date.
There's also a mini zoo and a theme park where you can partake in a little Zipline.
Can get very very hot though!

Not many things for travelers. If you stay here, you can spend one day to the park. It combines both zoo, outdoor park and many tea plantation. Many families come here with children during the weekend. Near the White Temple so if you have time, take a look.

Great park with a variety of activities to do. Recommended to rent a bike, you go through tea plantations, flowers and a little lake with swans and lots of fishes, the views are stunning. The food at the restaurant is good but consider an extra charge of 17% to the prices listed on the menu (vat+service tip). The souvenir shop sells a lot of different items, most of them locally produced or from the Chiang Rai Area, fair prices.

The Wat Rong Khun or White Temple is a modern and strikingly beautiful Buddhist temple in Chiang Rai, Thailand. It is made entirely of white marble and features an entrance fee of just $2. The entrance bridge features sculpted hands representing unrestrained desire, symbolizing the passage of life. The temple is popular with tourists for its unique and intricate design.
Must visit place in Thailand….!
Very beautiful for eyes., its the extreme skills of architecture. The engineer still alive. There is many things to see inside and out side of the temple . Inside there is a statue of a saint its look like original.
The temple look more beautiful while the sunset time , the sunlight reflects and will glow.
About the history, There were a old temple and this architecture renovated with his own money . And still the works going on.
For getting the bright color its made with glasses and special plaster. So it can be protected from the sun light and rain .

Gorgeous temple. I’ve been to a lot of temples in Asia and this one is by far my favourite. The architecture and detailing is just so beautiful. There’s a lot of interesting little sculptures scattered around as well. 100 baht entry fee for foreigners. Came around 4pm on a Thursday and there were only a handful of other people there. Spent about an hour walking around but definitely could have been here longer. It’s easy to skip over temples especially after you’ve been to so many but this is one you definitely can’t miss.

I fell in love with this wonderful and strong piece of art. Such a big site and since I was in a group tour I had to be fast and could not see everything. I love the art inside and out. And the cave. The museum with the beautiful art with a strong message. I would love to go back and I highly recommend it. Buy a book in the shop at the museum.

Magnificent temple! Grand and breathtaking. Walked fast to pass by hell. The inner chamber artworks are ingenious and personal to the artist. Very exquisite. The entrance fee is 100 baht.
No sleeveless and shorts allowed.
There's a new cave installation, which is also interesting. Space is very narrow at the beginning, and if you are claustrophobic, you may want to reconsider going inside. Similar way of depicting life as experienced in the White Temple--hell first before heaven--as the narrow, chaotic space leads to a wide, peaceful buddha. The artworks are interesting with sculptures and light effects--watch out for the details. The entrance fee is 50 Baht.

There's no doubt that this temple is certainly beautiful, interesting, and one of the most unique temples we have visited in Thailand, but it still does not justify the dual pricing!!
100b for foreigners and free for Thsis, you don't see any other countries giving different prices for different nationalities, blatantly ripping off tourists!! It's not the price; it's the principle of the dual pricing that really is unfair.
Anyway, architecturally, it is very pleasing on the eye, pure white all around, which is unusual from the normal gold temples.
No photos are allowed inside the temple.
Quite quiet to visit now with not many tourists.
Overall, it is a very beautiful temple and very unique, but I'm sticking to my poor scores for the ripping off of tourists, which you are not forced to pay and in all honesty the beautiful photos are taken from outside where you don't have to pay!....

I was sceptical about seeing yet another temple and I'm so glad that I did it anyway. Think fairytale-like charm of glistening in the sun white castle. Insides don't have the same effect but it was interesting to observe modern moralistic murals.

Incredible. The 100THB entrance fee is well worth it. The grounds are extensive and social media fans will have a field day despite several no photo zones. Expect to spend at least 90 minutes here. Note to self.. sunglasses required.. the white and mirror tiles are very reflective..
As far as the artistry and craftsmanship goes.. this temple has it all.. including some tongue in cheek pop culture references to help bestow lessons in virtue and sacred duty to family. Pick a clear day, the temple offers several outdoor photo spots. Also great to see several tourists here on a Saturday. Thumbs up!.

This is probably my favorite temple in Thailand. The White Temple glistens in the light, and makes it even more beautiful. The complex also has an art cave, and a museum. Don’t forget to dresses appropriately.
There are also food shops in front, and by the parking if you get hungry. We went here from Chiang Mai and took around 3hrs by van. Still we recommend going here despite the distance.

I visited this work of art over a weekday in October 2023.
Pros
1. Free parking
2. Entry 100 THB per person
3. The whole place is a photo spot
4. It is eye catching and has a detailed design. I liked the design and intricate details.
5. The toilets are at another level. The yellow building in the pictures is actually the toilet. It looks stunning.
6. There are several souvenirs and food shops on premise.
Considerations
1. The building is mostly open. Please carry an umbrella to save yourself from the Sun.
2. Please wear full length clothes.
3. The place is full of tourists, it might get crowded.
4. The place might not be considered as a temple for some people.

This temple is one of the best places I have visited in the last 6 months of traveling Thailand - It costs 100 baht to enter, Although the grounds around are free to walk around and they’re very nice
Make sure you dress appropriately, and early if you can, There were maybe 6 others when we went at 8:30am.
I highly recommend visiting the ‘Cave of Art’ for 50 baht.
Make sure you have a good detailed look at the painted walls inside the temple! You will see many interesting things, I won’t ruin it here (You can google image white temple inside) but it was a major highlight for me and I found it surprising and interesting.
The art galleries located there are also filled with amazing art
Make sure you visit!

Located in Chiang Rai, Thailand, Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple, is a mesmerizing architectural marvel that captivates visitors from around the globe. Stepping onto the grounds, one is immediately struck by the temple's pristine white facade, adorned with intricate mirror mosaics that shimmer in the sunlight, creating a surreal and ethereal atmosphere.
The White Temple is not just a place of worship; it is a work of art in itself. Designed by Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, the temple seamlessly blends traditional Buddhist symbolism with contemporary artistry, resulting in a structure that is both sacred and avant-garde. Every detail, from the ornate carvings to the symbolic sculptures, tells a story and invites contemplation.
One of the most striking features of the temple is its bridge of "the cycle of rebirth," which represents the journey from darkness to enlightenment. Crossing this bridge, visitors are confronted with eerie hands reaching up from the depths of hell, symbolizing the temptations and obstacles one must overcome to attain enlightenment.
Inside the main hall, visitors are greeted by a larger-than-life mural depicting iconic figures from popular culture, including Superman, Batman, and even Harry Potter. While this departure from traditional Buddhist art may initially seem jarring, it serves as a reminder that enlightenment can be found in unexpected places.
Beyond its artistic merit, Wat Rong Khun also serves as a spiritual sanctuary for many. Visitors are encouraged to participate in Buddhist rituals, such as making offerings and receiving blessings from the monks. The serene surroundings and the gentle hum of chanting create a sense of peace and tranquility that lingers long after one has left the temple grounds.
However, it's important to note that Wat Rong Khun is not without controversy. Some critics argue that the commercialization of the temple detracts from its spiritual significance, citing the presence of souvenir shops and photo opportunities as evidence of a loss of authenticity.
Overall, Wat Rong Khun is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to northern Thailand. Whether you come for the art, the spirituality, or simply to marvel at its beauty, the White Temple is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who visit.

Entry fee is 100Baht per person. It is an architectural marvel! Loved how beautiful it looked. It definitely gets crowded, go in the morning to avoid the rush hours. Do carry a cap to cover your head, the sun gets too strong; and of course, dress modestly, cover your knees and shoulders! Make sure you have ample time to walk around and explore the beautiful campus.

The legendary masterpiece temple created by Arjarn Chalermchai. The white temple is once in a lifetime visit. Pictures don’t do it justice. The level of detail and the meaning behind each piece was unbelievable. There’s an entry fee and there was several sections that they won’t allow filming. There’s also free art gallery on the side for visiting. The one of the kind temple is a must visit once in Thailand.

This is one of the most unique and beautiful temple I have visited so far. Entry fee is 100 BHT per person. I recommend visiting it early morning at 8 AM when the temple opens after that all tourist buses comes and make the place crowded.
You must take pictures while entering the temple as you can't come back.

So very impressive. Unlike any temple you've ever seen before. The artist who is leading the construction and creation of this complex is beyond talented. I'd highly recommend going to the free gallery to see his work (just outside the exit). Definitely worth visiting. There's shops and food in the immediate surrounding area too.

It’s a gorgeous temple. The architecture and the intricate details are just so beautiful.
You can easily spend 30 minutes around here and there are many cafes and restaurants around where you can have a coffee or a snack.
It’s easy to skip over temples in Thailand, especially after you’ve been to so many but this is one definitely cannot be missed!

So much art to see. You could easily spend 3 hrs here but no more than that is needed. 2 hours you will still see it all! It’s a must see with so much beauty and definitely do the art cave exhibit. Only 50 baht!! You can’t take picture inside the temple so do not miss out on the breathtaking art inside with all his unique ways of integrating modern times with ancient times. STUNNING

Doi Mae Salong is a majestic mountain peak that offers scenic hiking trails with breathtaking views of verdant hillsides and neighboring villages. It is an ideal spot to start your journey towards the local tea plantation, located in a nearby town. Staying in Chiang Rai would be an excellent idea before heading there. The sunset from the top of Doi Mae Salong is stunning, and the drive along the fantastic road will expose you to magnificent landscapes.
Worth a visit if you're a tea enthusiast. It's advisable to go in a car with a more powerful engine than a sedan.

Mae Salong is best explored by driving, as the attractions are fairly far apart. Love the cool weather and Chinese Yunan food and culture. Enjoy the mountain view, tea plantation, hilltop temple and try the local food. Stay a night, or two.

This is a peaceful wat, unfortunately on the date of our visit, the drive path up to the mountain top (where the pagoda is) was blocked by a huge pile of sand as part of the wat was under construction. You can still climb up to the pagoda, make sure you give yourself plenty time if you're catching sunset there.

The Wat Phra Kaew Buddhist temple is one of the most important in all of Chiang Rai, and is famous for housing the Emerald Buddha, a statue believed to have been carved by gods. The temple is also home to other noteworthy artifacts, including a number of chedis that were damaged by lightning or an earthquake centuries ago.
Definately worth visiting and the museum here with it's Buddhist icons and other artifacts pushes this into the top rating.
Interestingly, this is where the famous Emerald Buddha, now displayed in Bangkok, was discovered here after a lighting struck the Pagoda (1434 AD) where it had been hidden. Hence, the Temple in Bangkok has the same name.
A replica of the original Emerald Budda is housed in one of the buildings here.
Nice shaped grounds for this Temple site.

Beautiful gardens meets the eye as one walks through the gate. The temple of interest further back and busy with devotees offering prayers. The temple is small and unusually also lit up with a green light (behind mosaic tiles) adding to the aura of mystery and reverence. Wat Phra Kaew offers two temples.. shrines and a museum all on the same ground.. and if that's not enough.. let's add a moat and a Chedi. Worthy of an afternoon visit and if the museum was open I could have spent even more time there.

Maybe best that the Emerald Buddha was moved to Bangkok as that would have overwhelmed this beauty....who knows.

It's known throughout Thailand because it originally housed the stunning, translucent green Buddha that’s now in Bangkok’s Emerald Buddha Temple. The spot is not just historically rich, but also so charming and peaceful. Whether you're a history buff or just love visiting beautiful places, it’s well worth your time to drop by and soak in all the serene and elegant vibes.

Very peaceful temple just on the outskirts of the centre. Beautiful architecture as expected and the inside of the temple is so serene. The emerald Buddha is really quite a sight. Noticed they offered introduction to Buddhism classes on certain days where you can ask questions about the religion which I thought was a wonderful idea.

Located near the market, this place seems popular with locals. There is a museum with a collection of Lanna Buddhist artifacts. The grounds are very peaceful to walk. There are also signs posted around that tell the story of the Emerald Buddha, of how it was moved around and discovered.

Beautiful temple with a long hostory, where the famous Emeral Buddha was discovered back in 1434 AD.
The main hall is beautiful and holds on "Phra Chao Larn Thong," a buddha that said to he the most beautiful example of Pala empire buddha casting. There is also an interesting museum inside. Carpark is available inside the temple.

It is one of the most popular temples in Chiang Rai. It is a calm place.
Pros
1. Could visit for free in 2023
2. Free parking in the premise
3. The Buddha statue is made of green emerald. Not sure if it is similar to the Wat Sa Kaew in Bangkok.
4. It is a calm place and there are several monks living and practicing there.
5. You might enquire for prayer and chanting time in the evening. It should be around 6 PM. You might witness the prayers.
6. Close to clock tower.
Considerations
1. Please wear full clothes. There might not be any shop to rent or sell the sarang or draping cloth.

The Clock Tower in Chiang Rai is a beautiful landmark that reminds you of the White Temple, Wat Rong Khun. Every evening, at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00, the tower comes to life with a light-and-sound display.
What a unique experience! The clock structure is pretty spectacular anyway with its intricate form and detail in gold, but come 9pm that all changes.
Those that get there to see it will be treated to a light show that bathes the clock in a myriad of differing colours. It’s quite special and worth a visit if you are in the region. I haven’t added photos of the light show as I was too busy watching and enjoying it. 😊

It will not help but be surprised to see the bright yellow twisted clock tower at the intersection of Phaholyothin and Banpaprakan roads. Built in 2008, Clock Tower honors King Bhumibhol Adulyadej, the clock tower is the idiosyncrasy of Chalermchai Kositpipat, the artist who built the famous White temple.

Wait till late afternoon.. Sun from the west will pop the golden clock tower against the shop windows in a way that makes your eyes water. Use the middle island on the western side for a selfie.. the clock tower itself is sort of a traffic circle with no real place to stand, cling too, or even hover.. and even on a Saturday afternoon at 5pm cars were still flying by.. (pick your battles and your time and be safe..) Enough said.. its a easy visit landmark for spectacular photos in the chaos of traffic in the not-so-city-center of Chiang Rai.
B. F. G. — Google review
An iconic monument in Chiang Rai. A golden, ornate clock tower in the middle of a major intersection in the city centre.
Most people come to see it at 7, 8 or 9 pm when it is lit by changing colour lights accompanied by music. In the past I would give this 5, but the current show is shorter and there are no moving parts, as in the past, hence only 4. I'm sure they will reinstate the full show sometime.

One of Chiang Rai’s iconic place to visit. This clock tower was constructed in 2005 in honor of Queen Sirikit. This work of art by Achan Chalermchai Kositpipat helped boost Chiang Rai’s Tourism. With its ideal location, people can also visit the shops, temples and other attractions easily. I would advise visitors to get hotel near clock tower for easy access within the city.
Mark Miguel — Google review
Gaudy and ornate. I like it! The experience isa bit diminished be the enormous blank billboards behind it and the roaring tailpipes of passing cars but the clock tower itself is pretty impressive.
T Case — Google review
The Chiang Rai clock tower looks very iconic. A golden clock tower right at the busy traffic. This was designed by one of Thailand's national artists in honor of Queen Sirikit in 2005. If you manage to be nearby at 19:00, 20:00, or 21:00, you'll be able to witness its sound display. It's quite difficult to take a perfect shot -unfortunately- since this is right at an intersection where traffic is busy. In addition, nearby this beautiful clock tower is an old 'clock tower'.. I forgot what street it was but it's near the market place - a stone's throw from the golden clock tower - I included a not so perfect snap as well as I just saw it when I was passing by 😊

Not much to say about this one. It's not traditional, newly built later. You can find it easily on the way to The White Temple or Singha Park from the Bus terminal. Not many tourists here. Everyone just go here and take a picture far from the pavement then keep walking.

As far as clock towers go, this one's pretty darn cool. The light and sound show is a nice gimmick. Can you spend more than 5 mins here? Probably not. But there's lots of nice restaurants and bars in the nearby area so I'd say it's worth checking out.

The Wat Huay Pla Kang Buddhist temple is a popular destination for tourists in Chiang Rai, featuring a massive statue of the goddess Guan Yin, known as the "Goddess of Mercy." The temple is located 6 km northwest of the city and open every day from 07:00 to 21:30.
You see the Huge White Buddha long before arriving here; a very impressive sight.
Plenty to see here. You can take the lift for 40Bht up inside the Buddha and look out of the round window at the top, which is actually the round mark you see on the Buddha's forehead from below. It's lovely how a group of smart uniformed women & men greet you as you both enter and exit the lift at the base of the Buddha, almost like you're Royalty.
Two other buildings on this site. The white building has echoes of the "White Temple" and is beautifully designed. When I was there, amid tight security, a very important Monk was visiting the Temple, his picture is on the wall of the Temple and he was shown much reverence.
The third building, in pyramid shape, is another shrine. Many people coming here to "Make Merit" and purchasing bags of rice as offerings. The best view of the wooden Buddha statues is actually from the first floor (up from the ground floor). If you try to take a photo from the second floor, the Chandelier gets in the way.
This place is free to visit with plenty of parking, the only cost being that of the lift if you chose to ascend inside the Big Buddha. I think this is the biggest Buddha I've seen and bigger than the well know one in Phuket.

There is so much to see here!
Prepare for a lot of stairs and the best views ( don't worry you can still get the views as there is also a transport car going to the top).

Definitely worth a visit but bring a bottle if you're going on day time.

A beautiful temple we stopped by on our way to Singha Park. The campus is huge and there are a total of two temples with a pagoda here.
The main attraction is the huge towering statue of the Goddess herself. We need to climb a flight of stairs to reach the top. On reaching we can even reach the eye of the statue through an elevator. We need to get tickets for that and the view from up there is amazing. Plus the area is adorned with beautiful pure white statues of gods and goddesses.

3 Experiences in 1
This has been our favourite site so far in terms of temples, museums and statues. You could easily spend 2 or 3 hours here exploring all the buildings and beautiful surroundings. The Pagoda building is huge and impressively laid out over 9 floors. So comfy shoes and take your time on every floor it's an excuse to rest before the next flight of stairs too.
The Temple itself is stunning in white with glistening gems all over her interior and exterior - a beautiful and spiritual place oozing an atmosphere the "real" White Temple could only dream of.
Recommended you go a couple of hours before sunset and catch nature setting behind the Goddess. Its almost impossible to understand the scale.of this structure until.tou stand at her feet and look up.
The only fee is for the Goddess all other buildings/temples are donation only.
GODDESS OF MERCY - 80 baht if you want to go up to visit the inside of the Goddess Head, giving you the most magnificent view from the eyes of the goddess. The lift only operates till 5pm so if you're going for sunset then get the lift done first (we went back the next day)
FOOD & DRINK Take some 20 baht notes or even better take all the change you've accumulated so far in Thailand. Everything for sale on site cost just 20 baht and the proceeds support the hospital and up keep.

This temple focusses on Chinese influence with the giant goddess statue. You can get a shuttle from the car park up to the base of the statue and get ticket for the lift (40 baht) that takes you up to head. You can then look out of her eyes and take in the views.

Very pretty!! If you’re not fit enough to walk the stairs, you can actually hop on the operating “cars” over there.
However, accessibility was not that great. It’s not downtown, so we came here by Grab in the late afternoon, and when we wanted to go back, there were no taxi’s around and we couldn’t find a Grab for a long time since it was raining and rush hour started. So it might be handy to check with taxi driver to pick you up later on, so you won’t be stuck.

Another memorable trip.
The are two structure; at the highest point, a large Buddha and next to it, a temple with 9 levels.
Walked up the stairs to reach the base of the Buddha. Here you will find white carved Chinese horoscope statues. We didn't take the elevator to the eye of the Buddha, we should have but we were limited in time and we wanted to visit the other temple next to it.
This one had multiple levels, each with a different Budda and each level getting smaller and smaller and the access getting smaller and smaller, as well. Until the last level in which the access it only narrow enought for one person.
Lots of stairs on this visit!
Don't forget to get a delicious cold green tea at the parking area for a small donation.
PS we went in the low season so we didn't witness any line-ups or crowds.

Wat Huay Pla Kang, the Goddess of Mercy in Chiang Rai, is a captivating marvel that leaves a lasting impression. The sheer beauty of the temple complex is awe-inspiring, with its expansive grounds offering a sense of tranquility and spirituality. The highlight, undoubtedly, is the colossal statue of the Goddess Kuan Yin. Towering over the landscape, it commands attention and admiration. The intricate details of the statue, coupled with its sheer size, evoke a sense of reverence and amazement. This temple has a huge statue of Goddess of Mercy, which you can take a lift up to the head portion, where you can look out from her eyes and forehead. Aroud 4 highlights we observed:
Majestic Guan Yin: The star of the show is undoubtedly the 90-meter-tall Guan Yin statue, visible from afar and awe-inspiring up close.
Panoramic Views: Take the free shuttle or climb the easy steps to the statue's base, and be rewarded with stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Sunset is a particularly magical time, as the golden rays paint the landscape in mesmerizing hues.
Inner Journey: Ascend to the top of the statue via the paid elevator for a unique experience. Inside, intricate stucco decorations and serene Buddha statues create a space for quiet contemplation.
Temple Complex: Explore the 9-level pagoda and 12 surrounding structures, each adorned with intricate details and offering a glimpse into Thai Buddhist culture. In addition, there are 2 more temples outside
I would recommend to spend 2-3 hours to fully immerse yourself in the temple's beauty and serenity. In addition, wear comfortable shoes for climbing the steps.

For lunch nearby, consider the free vegetarian meal in the temple canteen, or Thai dishes such as rice with basil pork at the 20-baht eatery just next to the temple.

The Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is a popular night market that includes street food, apparel, jewelry & gifts, as well as live entertainment. It is especially fun to explore at night when the markets are brightly lit and full of activity.
The best place of Chiang Rai is probably this market as I had my food for very low rates، halal food is available and you can enjoy love performance while having food and music۔ Market is having a lot of nearby massage parlors so you can relax after a day full of activities۔ Nearby you will get cheap price deals on clothes souvenirs and small stuff for children۔
Please do bargain here for price as it's way lower than your expectations ۔thanks me later

It is unfortunate that the bazaar is not as lively as it once was compared to previous reviews. We wandered upon the area on a Sunday night to find that less than 50% of the shops were operational. Wishing the best for the shops that were affected by the current situation.

I really enjoyed this night bazaar where there was a square with food stalls. Just grab a table and start ordering from any stall that catches your eye. Best of all is that they will deliver to your table. I started my meal by having a set of 8 pork skewers for ฿80. The pork was tender and so well-seasoned. It also came with a curry dipping sauce. I also ordered a chicken coconut curry soup (฿100) which had a good flavour. You may come across a Japanese stall that sells fried food. A plate of 6 shrimps comes up to just ฿40. On the other hand, you can get a plate of mixed items (฿60), which includes battered onion rings, long bean, broccoli, sweet potato, chicken tender and shisamo. But this can get a bit much, so do order it when sharing with others. While I was here, I noticed many people were ordering a claypot hot pot. Do try to arrive before 7pm to get a table.

nice place in central point of the city to spend time in the evening. a very large selection of stands with various regional dishes. As sweet, as salty. There are also tables available where you can sit quietly and consume what you have purchased. maybe you'll be lucky to have live music. Absolutely recommend :)

The seafood soup from the stall in my photo was thoroughly underwhelming for 80 baht.
The cold beer made up for it to an extent, however.

I had a great time there. It’s kinda hidden and also relax place. Relaxing live music, ‘cheap food’ and also great atmosphere close to the center. Totally worth it from
Tuesday until Thursday. Fried chicken and beef cashew rice are the best. The live shows are amazing if there is a group partying.

It was avery nice place to eat, shop and to chill. There's a cultural show on a stage to entertain viewers. Food stalls are everywhere, there's so much more you can choose. Souvenir shops are also very nice.

I'm not really a shopper, but I participated in this market just to have something to do. I'm so happy I did. The quantity of shopping stretched a few blocks. There were plenty of varieties of food and two stages with entertainment. Each show was about 20 minutes long. I saw a traditional Thai dance show, two ladyboy shows, and several sets of western music. This particular market closed at midnight. I went to an all-night market in Bangkok and was overwhelmed. I wasn't looking for anything but I found some very nice gift items for friends. My biggest impression of this market is how much fun it was. I spent 3 hours here. Highly recommend.

Small but cozy night street market with a food court and several live music performances even on Wed night. Lots of stalls are still closed.

I recently visited the Chiang Rai Saturday Night Blazer and was blown away by the incredible selection of food, music, and shopping options available. The number of different food vendors was truly impressive, offering everything from traditional Thai dishes to international cuisine. The live music was also fantastic and added to the lively and festive atmosphere of the market.
But what really stood out to me were the clothing and accessory options. The market was full of vendors selling unique and beautiful items, from handcrafted jewelry to stylish clothing. I loved browsing the various stalls and ended up leaving with some great finds.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Chiang Rai Saturday Night Blazer to anyone visiting the area. It's a wonderful place to experience the local culture and try some delicious food, while also shopping for some truly special and unique items

The overall night bazaar experience is alright, but the food court is a real disappointment because it's such a waste of money and stomach space though. We bought quite a few dishes that isn't added to this review and only 2-3 dishes that are good and the rest are horrible. Imagine this: when you put the foods in your mouth, you tasted of what the dish should tasted like, but after your second or third bite then the flavor is all disappear. Majority of the dishes are only get a few bites then we don't go back for more.

This is the most famous night market in Chiang Mai city. The items sold at Night Bazaar are mostly handicrafts and handmade goods of the Chiang Mai region in particular and the northern provinces of Thailand in general, such as silver carvings, traditional hand embroidery, carved wood. notch…. The goods here are quite rich, diverse and most importantly, cheap. However, a note for visitors when buying, remember to bargain the price. Specifically, you should pay the price down from 20 to 30%

The bazaar itself is mostly items you’ll see at any bazar, but the “food court” area us great! A lot of stands to choose from and you can get to taste different types of food in one place.

It’s a cool night market, good vibe you can enjoy street food with good clean environment and watching singing or show at the same time. Highly recommended Thai hot pot small set is 100B , big set is 200B. Never see a hot pot with this good deal. 😋

Chiang Rai Night Bazaar offers a delightful first-time experience, with its initial visit revealing a pleasant lack of overwhelming crowds. The ambiance is inviting, creating a relaxed atmosphere for exploration. The variety of restaurants caters to diverse tastes, allowing visitors to indulge in local and international cuisine. From traditional Thai dishes to global flavors, the culinary options are a highlight.
The presence of diverse stores adds charm to the night market, offering an array of products, from handmade crafts to trendy fashion items. The initial visit's serenity allows for a more intimate interaction with the stalls, enabling a closer look at the unique wares on display. The bazaar's vibrancy shines through with vibrant colors and engaging displays that capture the essence of Thai culture.
While the absence of overwhelming crowds during the first visit is a positive aspect, it's worth noting that the atmosphere may evolve on busier nights. Nevertheless, the Night Bazaar's charm lies in its ability to cater to various preferences, making it an appealing destination for both locals and tourists. 🌃✨🍜

Definitely smaller than other markets I’ve been to but it was nice. The food was all between 70-100 id say for a meal, so a bit pricier but not expensive at all. I hope when I go again I get to see a performance on stage.

One of the liveliest and fun night markets I have been to! There is a big stage with live music and lovely Thai people dancing to the Thai tunes. They really were having the time of their life and was lovely to watch.
A lot of food available, and a lot of variation. Highly recommended!

It's a short alley with a variety of stalls that sell fruits, snacks and souvenir items. The food are reasonably priced. We had a cup of sweet strawberries and mango shake.
You can find Tshirts, elephant pants, handmade local bags, trinkets etc.

A very nice night bazaar to walk around if you are visiting Chiang Rai. This is my first time to have a hotpot like this style, they have many different stalls that provide different types of meat and are packed into a set. You can walk around and choose which type or how much portion you want. Absolutely nice place to chill.

The only place where you can find varieties of Thai food and souvenir at night in Chiang Rai.
Very crowded during dinner time. There are lots of Thai street food here. Prices are reasonable. Plenty of seats but still quite full. Most tourists are here. There are also some other restaurants at the shop lots around serving foreign food like western food, Italian etc. There was live band singing at night and you may find lots of Thailand souvenir stalls around too. Great place for food and shops.

Baan Dam Museum, also known as the Black House, features an assortment of wooden structures showcasing works by contemporary Thai artists including Thawan Duchanee. While some visitors may have mixed feelings due to high expectations or large crowds, it remains a unique and fascinating experience worth exploring. The museum contains 40 black buildings that serve as a complement to the nearby White Temple. Inside are various peculiar items such as an elephant skeleton and snake skin table runners.
A very cool place with a bunch of different buildings to check out. The grounds are fairly open and so I took my own path around and tried to get a glimpse of every thing. 80 baht and I spent about an hour or so there. Wandering. Taking pictures. Enjoying the atmosphere.

This is a must visit if you like sight seeing. This is known as the black temple. It is very unique and so much history to these temples. You will not be disappointed visiting this temple. Approximately 2-3 hours away from Chang Mai but you can book day tours with local. Well worth the visit here. Very warm here.

Found this interesting if a little strange, not like any other museum I have been to. It was a very hot, humid day too when we went so I wasn't really feeling it. I would say it's worth going to see, though . 90 TBH each fee .

My boyfriend mentioned that was his favorite places we’ve been to in Chiang Rai because the museum was surrounded by nature. The area has a very cool atmosphere despite our visit being in the middle of the afternoon.
The complex had several houses/buildings which showcases the art and statues. There are several that you can only view from the outside. There is also an area with their rescued stray cats just by the first big house at the entrance.
We also recommend getting the tiny pineapples at the store by the parking area. They are sweet, and costs only 20baht.

The Black House takes a look at the darker side of art and society. Stunningly dramatic structures form a large, amazing complex that was once the home of a national artist and a thriving creative colony. Every building is an adventure!

Rather than a temple, this place is not only a museum, it is an artist’s hoard of collectibles. And you can see his favourite colour is black.
Expect to see animal hides including humongous crocodile skins, a full set of elephant bones (minus tusks of course) shells, water buffalo horns by themselves of made into all kinds of furniture, paintings and sculptures. Amongst other things.
It’s quite a diverse collection.

Pretty unique artworks. Got a spooky feeling in some spots seeing the remains of dead animals. But overall I had a unique experience about artwork. Some artwork had a QR code against it which has a instagram filter which has creates some animation.
Entrance fee of 80 baht.

I loved this museum, and walking aimless in the park around, we went at the end of the day and it was really peaceful, an uncommon but yet pleasant feeling of letting your imagination wandering freely. My teenagers boys found it a bit repetitive though, I quite agree as there is many identical pieces (a lot of animals skins) but the atmosphere is unique and well worth the visit. If, like me, you were a big fan of the universe of the video game Myst you will certainly experience something with this place too.

The arts and crafts are wonderfully mysterious. The temple is amazing. Too bad, the staff isn't friendly at all. We paid for the entrance but didn't show any value of hospitality there.

The Baan Dam Museum is one of the most interesting spaces of Chiang Rai. It is located in a big field and there around 40 different buildings insight, not all of them are open to the public but you can see a lot.
I liked the fact that it is kind of interactive, in the main building you have QR codes that you can scan and it makes the paintings come to live. Also the design of the wooden furniture and the different shapes of the building are some of the most interesting parts of the museum.
I have only put four stars instead of five because I didn’t like seeing the living animals being in a very limited space. There were two big bulls and cats in a cage.
There are also many skins, hair and bones of dead animals. As visitors we are not informed regarding how were these animals treated.

Such a wild experience. If you're sensitive to phallic displays or don't want to expose your kids to tons of wooden phalluses I don't recommend this place. However if you're fine with them. Then it's a really fun place to wander around and enjoy all the different buildings and exhibitions.
The art in the big house is really cool and using your phone you can make it come to life.
Entrance fee is 80 baht. Definitely worth a visit!

It's like entering the artist's mind. So many objects of curiosities . The main museum is made of teak and it's impressive. I wish we had spent more time in the Black temple than the blue and white temple.

The Black Temple, or Baan Dam, commonly referred to as the House, offered a vastly different yet equally captivating experience. The nominal entry fee of 80 baht was a small price to pay for the unique artistic expression within.
As I approached, the striking black exterior surrounded by sculptures and intriguing structures hinted at the unconventional experience awaiting inside. Each building, adorned with dark, ornate carvings and sculptures, revealed a deeper, almost mystical, side of local artistry.
Exploring the interiors, the intricate and sometimes eerie art pieces evoked a sense of wonder and curiosity. The combination of wood, animal bones, and unique artifacts showcased the darker, more enigmatic side of Thai art and culture. The serene environment within the compound allowed for an immersive experience, while the free parking and convenient location as part of the travel hub made it accessible to curious travelers like myself.
Deedar — Google review
Fantastic - beautiful and absolutely worth the visit. Plenty of parking available through overflow parking lots. Many different artists showcase their pieces here in a great setup. Massage and local merchants have also shop there. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here. Would come again, in my mind on #2 for Chiang Rai
Martin Metz — Google review
The museum is situated in a residential area that is not commonly frequented by tourists. It charges a minimal entrance fee and covers a vast area, showcasing various traditional houses that exhibit the local team's curated wooden art pieces.
Although it may not be the most impressive museum, it is still worth a visit. The main building, which is located near the entrance, is the best place to start your tour. However, some visitors may find the display of crocodile skins unpleasant, while others may appreciate it as an artistic display.
If you're looking to quench your thirst or grab a bite to eat, there are two small local food and drink stalls available. Additionally, a souvenir shop is situated near the car park for those looking to purchase some memorabilia.

This is another must if you are in Chiang Rai region, you can very seldom see such high quality sculpting, art, and creativity in the same place. There is a very low entrance fee 80 baht per person. There are shops around with food, juices, coffee and fruits. Big parking easily accessible with scooter. Very big like from my side :)

Quite an interesting museum. Not too large. The art is interesting and there's lots of phallic stuff, so yeah, heads up. I would've like it to have a bit more stuff. The place is nice and it's a good visit it just felt like it could've had more. Maybe having a more structured experience might also help because it wasn't very clear where to go or in what order and at some point I just found myself wondering what to do next.

The Viking-themed Baan Dam Museum offers a distinctive experience that's quite different from your average museum visit. However, its uniqueness can also lead to confusion, as I sometimes struggled to comprehend what I was looking at. Unlike my experiences at other museums, I felt the need for some guidance or descriptive information to better navigate and appreciate the exhibits
Alwin Goh — Google review
Not bad as a museum. A lot of exotic animal skin in the exhibit and gory paintings at times. It's dark in nature, hence the name black museum.
Ethan S — Google review
Interesting art museum.
The main attraction is the house right at the entrance as most of the other houses are locked off so you can only peek inside through the doors.
The paintings in the main building can be animated when scanning a QR-Code next to the painting which is a cool feature.
There’s a lot of crocodile skins and antlers as well as a few bear skins. If you’re not fond of seeing such things then I wouldn’t recommend visiting.
There’s also an influence from other countries such as Indonesia and India.
I personally wouldn’t visit it again but it’s definitely worth a visit.

The Black Temple is a private art museum comprising a mixture of traditional northern Thai buildings with unconventional and contemporary architecture, designed by Thawan Duchanee. Really recommend visiting, it’s not overly crowded like other popular touristic temples and it’s worth the visit since it’s different than traditional thai art.

This place is created by Thai famous artist who’s known for aggressive art style. It shows that art is subjective. Personally this is not my cup of tea, there are too many animal remains and male private parts as a part of the display. It’s a good walk from the blue temple down the road. I’m sure PETA would have a field day at this place.

We availed our temple tour, and this came last. Per our tour, this is not a temple but a museum of the dark side of Thai art. The area is extensive. We were able to get a good rest in this place. On the back side, you can stay in a greenery area where you can sit or take good pictures. The arts inside the house has its own QR wherein the art will move if you scan it. Overall, it was worth the visit.

What an amazing museum!!
The buildings, the artwork, the story of the museum was all very nice. The AR concept using QR codes & insta was absolutely brilliant.
2 hours is enough to see the essentials, but would recommend 3-4 hours for this place.
100bht entry fee.

Set of houses designed/built by a well-known artist. When we toured here, there are multiple cool AR arts installed (you need instagram and internet to scan a QR code, and place it directly over paintings to see some effects). There's a person singing inside the main house.
You can enter a few houses, while others are available just for display/sightseeing as you walk around the complex. There are stores down the path. As you exit near the car park, there is a souveneir shop selling post cards and artworks.

Long Neck Village is a tribal community where women wear brass rings on their necks and sell handmade crafts. While some may refer to it as a "human zoo," the villagers are happy to see tourists visit and learn about their culture. They prefer living in the village rather than their country of origin, which poses a threat to their people. The Thais have helped by providing them with a safe place to live on a piece of land.
Worth to go. Some people say this is a human zoo but honestly they are more than happy to see tourists come visit them and show the culture to us. They would rather live here than their country of origin which would kill their people. So they were happy because the Thais helped them give a piece of land for them to live safely. They are very happy to see tourists come visit them and learn about their culture.
They sell their handmade crafts but their won’t force you to buy.

It's a good place but not everyone will like. It's more like a village tour where you will meet people from Karen tribe. It is said that they have long neck and hence the village named as Long neck Karen Village. People are very nice and they sell handicrafts.
We think as part of this tour they must provide a guide who should explain about them this might make the tour more attractive.

We paid the 300 baht per person entrance fee. There were NO long neck Karens to be seen or found (NOT EVEN ONE). Only nearly abandoned huts there, the ones that were not abandoned only had about 3 people that were a bit pushy to sell you stuff that you would basically find in any tourist shop.
It also rained a few hours prior so everything was muddy and it was a bit slippery walking down to the village.
FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and terrible experience and basically a tourist trap.

I got a real sense of hill tribes in this area. There are five tiny villages representing different tribes. All sit in front of their homes inviting photographs. There is a big trail around the villages so be ready for a workout getting around. I wore sports sandals was dumb. Study shoes required. 300 baht for foreigners, 200 baht for Thai. Having live exhibits deserves due payment. You will feel like you are in deep Thailand.

The longneck Karen Village. It was a great experience. My experience with the indigenous was Interesting to know and realise that they are not originally from Thailand. They settle their village by their own. The main economy for them is throw the visitors or tourists who help them buying the handicraft and art . So my advice is to help them . Visiting and living this experience with the Karen village.

Poor village with men working somewhere else and women staying home with kids and selling goodies to visitors. They are used to tourists and photos - that’s why you pay the entry fee of 300bhat to enter. The money goes to the community and is divided equally among the villagers. They live in huts 🛖 and it is sad to see. I much rather leave my money there than at a reg night markets. These people need the money and tourists is the only way women can make the money. If you feel uncomfortable taking photos, don’t. But they are used to it and gladly will take the photos with you. They know they are different and this is their culture that people want to experience.

The long neck is awesome to see, but it really sucked to see how badly they were treating the elephants at the entrance. They had them chained up in a very small place for so many elephants and these guys were hitting them with sticks to make them do tricks. The elephants looked super stressed and unhappy, any small research of their behaviour could tell. The long neck ladies were really nice and friendly but there absolutely no reason to have elephants there once the village is already a nice place to see.

Interesting but sad. Interesting to see something I’ve heard about all my life. I found the village and their handicraft skills amazing. Yes I felt obliged to buy something. They actually have those little long neck dolls we grew up with in the 70s which as a kid I found fascinating now as an adult I found very upsetting.
Before you enter you see men working outside the village and charging you to enter
As you enter and walk through there are no men to be seen
Other tourists seem to think it’s their right to go and sit without speaking to these ladies and start taking pictures. Quite a few have babies on their knees as did the lady I sat and spoke to.
Their village and craft skills are amazing but the ladies seem empty and not happy to be on show. I’m glad I have seen something like this but I would not do it again. I felt embarrassed to be looking at these women like you walk through a zoo

This place isn't just a farm stay—it's like being part of a big, welcoming family. Apple and her crew go all out to make sure you feel right at home.
I stayed in this cool tent that felt more like glamorous camping. It was super clean and comfy, and the mountain views were amazing. Being surrounded by nature was so relaxing; it's the perfect break from city life. There is an option to stay in a completely private house, with rooftop area and sunrise view. Whenever you need to get some work done outside of your staying place, the restaurant's terrace is a chill spot with Wi-Fi, bird songs and of course delicious food!
There is a lot to do here, like biking, swimming in the lake, and joining fun workshops on stuff like Tie Dye, Wild Honey, Thai massage and many more (look at the photos).
The best part? They're all about being eco-friendly and natural. They'll even chat with you about healthy living and sustainability if you're keen.
Basically, Rai Ruen Rom is more than just a place to crash; it's like a little paradise where you can unwind and soak up the good vibes.

The roofttop house was utterly beautiful and they prepared a traditional thai bbq on the roof for us. All food and drink has been organically produced here on the farm. Apple the guide explained to us all the production and harvesting, and we sampled everything....lots of flower, leaf and fruit eating.
The kids and especially us adults loved the salt egg preservation and natural tye-dye.

Awesome and restful stay at RRR which is run by owners who put in their hearts and minds and souls to plough the land and turn it into a fruitful place. Despite the long dirt road to get there, one feels the great sense of peace and harmony on arrival. Everything - from the tents, amenities, restaurant, food and beverage, stay-in programmes - are thoughtfully designed and created from ground up, in oneness with nature. Staff are recruited from the surrounding community so the place and its projects directly benefit the lives of the locals. Unusual practice such as the staff eating merrily together with the owner family. at the same table within the restaurant and seeing how joyful the staff are in their service and going about their task, are truly testament to the owners' resolve to run with love and grace,
We are also thankful to meet and chat with Apple and family (the owners) and hear of their amazing testimony of vision, perseverance and steadfast faith. Their two lovely Collies and gorgeous princess also light up the moods of our kids. Great work, keep it work, and God bless!

Amazing farm stay experience. The founder was very welcoming and gave us a tour around her property to share all the sustainable farming practices and diverse crops. The food was very fresh and tasty as well.
We stayed in the tents which were very clean. The bathrooms were also clean and had very hot water! For those staying, they also have activities such as DIY honey, cookie making, and tie die.
