I came across thunderstorm rain in tiger hill instead of the sunrise. It was chilling cold and the experience was just soo different. Hope to see the dreamy sunrise one day too. five start for whatever views I got - it was a lifetime experience to see thunderstorm rain from that height.

The view of the mighty Kanchenjunga from here is mesmerising. The road to this point is such delight. The dense forest leading to the observatory is so beautiful and peaceful, its a must visit. People generally say that its best to visit this point at sunrise; but, the whole experience in the day makes it so special because its so calm in the daytime. Away from the crowd, you actually feel the essence of the forest. The temples on the way to the observatory are very very calm and provide a nice spiritual experience. Overall, a must visit place on a visit to Darjeeling. To actually feel the calm prevailing the place, do visit it in the day hours rather the sunrise.

This is the perfect spot to view the sunrise complimented with panoramic views of Darjeeling - The Queen of Hills and the Kanchenjunga peaks.
The views are serene. The drive up to the Hill is through a dense forest lined with trees planted by ancestors of the local people.
There are a lot of options to eat maggi and local food at the top, there are also options for different types of tea. There is a viewing deck; but it’s quite old and not the most comfortable.

A trip to Darjeeling is incomplete without a visit of Tiger Hill. Visited this place in month of feb, It was worth the effort to wake up early at 4:00 am and to hike to reach the top of Tiger Hill observatory in well time and to find perfect spot to see the majestic sunrise and its reflection falling on snow capped Mt. Kanchenjunga. It was definitely a life time experience to observe the first ray of sunlight striking the Mt. Kanchenjunga peak and the pale white mountain scape in the pre-dawn light slowly turning golden is breathtaking. If you are lucky enough you can also get a glimpse of Mt. Everest.

It was sheer luck to see the majestic Kanchenjunga at its glory and also see the sunrise simultaneously. 25th December 2022 was just magnificent. It was 2° C when we reached and extremely windy. So ensure to carry warm clothes if need be can be used as protection or you can buy some to help the locals and their business at the spot
However, the road leading up to the observatory is unkempt. So ensure to start your journey a little ahead of time. We had a call time of 3:30am and reached the location latest by 4:30am. There are super friendly local people selling tea and coffee ensure to buy some to keep yourself warm and they will suggest you the best spot to see the sunrise from.
Anuja Saha — Google review
The view is beautiful but the crowds are annoying.if you happen to visit this place at 5:30am in the morning and by around 5:45 to 6:15 you can experience the golden line which forms on the other end of mountain. If you're lucky and you have a clear sky, the view of the Kanchenjunga is stunning. Look far away and you can even see the Everest peak.
An almost 1 km uphill walk - BUT worth the effort. Ensure you leave early & reach atleast 30 mins before sunrise to capture the changing colours of the skyline.

Amazing sunrise. The view of rising sun at one side and the Kanchenjunga on the other side is truly mesmerizing.
Very chill weather , temp below 10 degree Celsius.
To observe sunrise, one must reach by 4.30am to capture the entire spectrum.
The hue of sun and the Kanchenjunga in sun looks very beautiful.
Shawls, caps ,gloves, tea, coffee available from morning 4am.
Be ready for frequent traffic jams. The 20 km journey takes 90minutes typically.

The tranquility of the surroundings and the fresh mountain air create a serene atmosphere, perfect for reflection and appreciation of nature's beauty. A visit to Tiger Hill Observatory is truly a must-do for anyone seeking a peaceful and awe-inspiring getaway in the lap of the Himalayas.

It was an awesome experience there. Watching the sunrise over the clouds is so mesmerizing that can't explained in words. The clouds come and go. When the sunrays falls on Kanchenjunga peak, it's snow lights up like Gold. It's onn the height. Vehicles easily go up there but due to rush they stop on the way and one has to walk up to the top. Must visit if you're in Darjeeling.

Any mesmerizing view, one needs to go to please if you have gone so far. A view which is worth watching. Pure natural and coffee will be the best combo to observe the environment over there . Well traveling is my hobby and i have been to lots of places but i would say this is worth watching which will leave a pleasant memory in one's life. It wont cost too much so nothing to worry about money.

It's one of the main attraction of Darjeeling. You can see the sunrise. It is a luck to see the golden reflection of Kanchanjangha during sunrise(only if there is no cloud). You have to go very early (leave from hotel at around 4 am) otherwise there will be a huge jam to the way. Some local women are also selling clothes, tea and coffee. There is a toilet at the car parking area.

The must visit place from Darjeeling. Yes it's tough to get up very early in the chilling weather but it worths. The view of kanchenjunga in the time of sunrise like melting gold. Mesmerizing! Try to start little early as the parking issue is there if late have to walk a lot. And the crowd is always there so you start early you will get front spaces which will help to see the view clear.
Anindita Karmakar — Google review
Excellent location to see morning sunrise reflect on Kanchenjunga range peaks if there are no clouds. November, December is ideal.
Suhas Nerurkar — Google review
Done it, worth it, won't do it again. I recommend to do once, but note, it's a total tourist trap. Super crowded and people selling stuff everywhere. People get aggressive for a good view, prepare to be pushed around and keep an eye on your wallet!
Personally, I got better views from Sikkim, and without the crowd and aggression. Much more peaceful seeing an even better view from Pelling.
Oh, also, unless you're going to walk up (which you 100% can, don't let anyone say you can't, they're lying), the drivers charge a huge surcharge to drive you up; the normal going rate is ₹1500 return from Darjeeling. Note: because so many people get taxis, it takes about 1 to 1.5 hrs to get back to Darjeeling after the sunrise.
I know this review seems negative, bit I stand by the 4 stars, it was still a great sunrise :)

One of the best places to visit the beauty of the Sunrise and the Kanchenjunga hills. The old observatory has been demolished (earlier it was a dome like structure with Windows to view, additional space for sitting was available. Of course binoculars at chargeable rates were available for viewing). A new structure with a wider space for audience and multilevel steps for seating and viewing is now under construction. Carry warm clothes, spreadsheets and a thermos while you wait for the sun to rise. Overall an experience to cherish.

Tiger Hill Sunrise Observatory in Darjeeling is a must-visit destination for witnessing the breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas, including the majestic Kanchenjunga. Despite the early wake-up call at 3 am and the chilly morning, the experience is truly worth it for nature enthusiasts. The panoramic views are serene and captivating. However, the area faces challenges such as crowded conditions and traffic before sunrise. Additionally, there's room for improvement in tourist facilities, including better signal reception for backpackers, enhanced public bus services, and more accessible restroom facilities.

Embarking on an early morning journey to witness the breathtaking sunrise amidst the serene beauty of Darjeeling is an experience like no other. As the sun begins its ascent, casting a mesmerizing hue across the sky, the majestic Kanchenjunga stands tall in the horizon, painting a picture-perfect backdrop.
Arriving at the spot by 4:30 am is essential to fully capture the magical spectacle, as the entire spectrum of colors unfolds before your eyes. Despite the chilly temperatures, with the mercury often dipping below 10 degrees Celsius, the allure of the sunrise is worth braving the cold.
As you await the dawn, warm yourself with shawls, caps, and gloves while indulging in a steaming cup of tea or coffee, readily available from 4 am onwards. However, be prepared for occasional traffic jams.
Once atop the hill, treat yourself to a variety of local delicacies, including piping hot maggi and flavorful teas, while taking in the panoramic vistas of Darjeeling - fondly known as the Queen of Hills - and the majestic peaks of Kanchenjunga.
While the viewing deck may be aging, plans for a new and improved structure are underway, promising a more comfortable and spacious experience for visitors.
In the end, the experience of witnessing the sunrise and the grandeur of the Kanchenjunga hills from this vantage point is truly an unforgettable one, leaving you with cherished memories for a lifetime.

You have to wake up 4 in the morning to visit the tiger hill sunrise point. But when you see the view, it will vanish all your stress and tiredness. The first view of the sun is amazing. You may have good photographs with the Mt. Kanchanjungha behind you. You can taste the coffee from the local seller. It tastes amazing. Seating options will be available here . You can hire mat from the locals at a minimal price. You have to buy tickets after returning from the Sunrise point Please keep the place neat and clean. A lot of people go to the place at a single time. So it is mandatory for us to keep the cleaning drive continuing.

What an amazing view point. It is at the top of a hill so you get a very good view, more than 180 degrees of view of both the sunrise and the Himalayan peaks of Kanchenjunga, and if you're lucky with clear skies, you might even see Mt. Everest in the distance! You need to come really early in the morning though, around 4:30-5:00 am, in the off season you don't have issues finding a good spot to stand, but during peak season it might be difficult as this is a very popular spot. You also have lots of souvenirs, coffee/tea, winter clothing being sold here because it can get very cold in the morning, especially with the breeze/wind. But really worth it to visit here.
Note: there is an entry ticket which you pay for while leaving, and the cab is something that would cost you a fair amount, but the views are worth it.

Best spot for witnessing the rising sun above the 'Queen of Hills', casting it's golden rays on the snow capped peaks of the mighty Kanchenjunga mountain range.
The place offers a complete panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga mountain range.
It is open throughout the day, but most of the tourists prefer to visit this place early in the morning to witness the golden peaks.
It is advised to visit here as early as possible (around 4:00 - 4:30 am) to reach the nearest point, to avoid long walks.
It is also advised to carry warm clothes as the weather gets really cold early in the morning and the gushing winds make it impossible to withstand the cold, also there's no shelter at the top to protect from the winds.
We carried all the layers of warm clothes still we needed to buy additional shawls.

Good place but quite old. It is not being renovated recently. It have a cute little zoo with few animals. Just in front of the gate, here is a small stall where you can get authentic momos and tea. Maggi, noodles also available. They will cook it after ordering. Also need to have tickets. And you will get to use a washroom. Not so cleaned. But can use for a emergency purpose. Have to get keys from ticket counter. Have few slides and seats in the park for children. It is located almost on the mountain surrounded by forests. Will love it if you are a nature lover.

Dow Hill Eco Park is a nice, quaint place with a playground on the inside. There are a couple of small stores outside that serve tea, momos, etc. There is an entry fee for getting into the park. There is also a toilet outside which has a separate entry fee. You can get the keys to the toilet from the ticket counter. Unfortunately the eco park has almost no maintenance. Most of it seemed to be closed off as well. Only a small area near the main entrance seemed to be open to the public.

People from all over the world visit Darjeeling in order to witness its natural beauty. But, what are hidden behind this amazing beauty are the haunted places. Darjeeling is also famous for the numerous haunted places it hosts. Dow Hill is one such haunted spot located in Darjeeling.
It is located at an altitude of 1,458 metres and is blessed with a pleasant climate throughout the year. The winters are mild as compared to Darjeeling as it is located 32 kms away from Darjeeling.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, or the Dow for short, is one way of measuring the stock market's overall direction. It includes the prices of 30 of the most actively traded stocks. When the Dow goes up, it is considered bullish, and most stocks usually do well.
Located on the outskirts of Darjeeling, at a height of 1,458 m above sea level, Kurseong is a popular hill station. The word 'Kurseong' means the place of the white orchid. It got this name due to the abundance of lovely white orchids that bloom on its hill slopes.
Located at an altitude of 1,482.55 metres (4,864.0 ft), Kurseong is 32 kilometres (20 mi) from Darjeeling and has a pleasant climate throughout the year. Kurseong is 34 kilometres (21 mi) from Siliguri and is connected to the city by road and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.

Good for kids and children.... They'll enjoy for sure. But entry fees of 20 rs per head is too much for this kid of park... Why eco park, no-one knows!
No refreshing rooms, no food carts, nothing actually within the park, just few play items which were enjoyable for kids, that's why I put all stars...
Entry towards deer park / animal or aviary breeding centre is restricted but this park is locally vocally announced as deer park. What a fuzzz.!
We been there on 7th May 2023.

Very nice place with an old well laid out school. Speaks to a time many moons ago. The Anglican Church along the way has a reputation of being haunted.
A lovely walk not overrun by crowds. Lovely old cypress trees with sunlight filtering through was special.
The person at security won't let you through unless you 'buy tea' from the vendor which is an indirect way of asking for an entrance fee

Dowhill Eco Park in Kurseong is a serene and captivating destination that beautifully blends nature and tranquility. Nestled amidst the lush greenery of the Eastern Himalayas, this park offers a rejuvenating escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
One of the park's standout features is its well-maintained walking trails that meander through dense forests. These trails provide an opportunity to immerse oneself in the natural beauty of the region while enjoying a leisurely stroll. The dense canopy of trees provides much-needed shade, making it a pleasant experience even during sunny days.

The Samdruptse monastery is a notable landmark located on a hill that provides stunning views of the surrounding area. The massive statue of Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rimpoche, stands at 45 meters tall and is painted in shimmering copper and gilt. Situated on the forested ridge of Namchi, this impressive statue was completed in 2004 after the foundation stone was laid by the Dalai Lama in 1997.

SAMDRUPTS RELIGIOUS LANDMARK IN SIKKIM❤️🇮🇳
Samdruptse is a significant religious site in a beautiful state in Sikkim, India🇮🇳 known for its towering statue of Guru Padmasambhava also known as Guru Rinpoche. It's a sacred pilgrimage destination for Buddhists and a popular tourist spot due to its stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
This statue stands at an impressive height of 118 feet (36 meters) and it's one of the tallest statues of Guru Padmasambhava in the world.
Jivan Kala — Google review
Definitely visit Samdruptse while in Namchi. The statue and complex are about a 10-15 minute drive from the Bazaar area, followed by a short 5 minute walk. The statue of Padmasambhava is truly impressive and fitting for a person of their stature. On the interior of the statue is a prayer room with some lovely thangkhas. Enjoy :)

Best place for peace lovers. My suggestion will be to the visitors to stay at least 2 hours here, then you can feel the silence of this place.

A 45 metre tall statue of guru Padmasambhava located on top of a hill. Can be spotted from anywhere in Namchi.
The entry tickets are 50 per head and parking is also 50. A very peaceful place of worship. Exploring the place takes around 15mins. There is a 'I love Namchi' located here. The statue of Shiva of Char dham can be viewed from here. I was lucky to get a picture after the sunset. The closing time is 5.30pm

I visited the place while visiting Namchi from gangtok. My driver was not sure about the place but I insisted him to go to the place and I heard about the place. It's on the side of the road to Ravangla from Namchi, have to go upwards for 2km to reach the place from the main road. The view ofvthe namchi city is worth seeing from this place. I love namchi borad is also present here. The statue is gigantic and chardham Shiva statue can be seen from this place. Ropeway is there which connects this place from chardham. But it is not in running when I visited.
Pleasant ride within the buzzing mountain city of darjeeling. Reminisce into the journey of the pre colonial era, good to go at early morning or late evening or during snow to beat the heat.

Pine View Nursery, also known as the Kalimpong Cactus Nursery or Mohanji nursery, is a must-visit attraction in Kalimpong. Founded by Mr. Mohan S Pradhan, this unique nursery boasts an extensive collection of over 1500 species of cacti and succulents from around the world, making it the largest cacti collection in Asia.
A botanist's and gardener's paradise! I can safely say that this place houses the biggest collection of cactus plants, both local and exotic, that I have ever seen. Neatly arranged in small sections next to each other, this place offers you a breath of fresh air as you go sightseeing at Kalimpong. There is a small canteen at the corner for you to take snacks. Don't miss the statue of the founder of this nursery, Mr. Pradhan which is located at the centre.

Tucked away in a copy corner of Kalimpong , the very famous Pine View Nursery stands out of the crowd. It's crown jewel is the collection of cacti, in all shapes, sizes , forms and colour. Meticulously collected, planted and labeled as per their categories, the Nursery provide in depth information about this family of plants. Alongside cacti, one can also find other season flowering trees in the vicinity. A small cafe adds to the brightness of the place. A beautiful memorial commemorating the owner/collector remains testimony to his zeal and efforts.

one thing i would mention, there was this man who was a caretaker i suppose who continuously was following me and also commented on my dress. in front of my partner. That was very weird. The whole Kalimpong i have felt absolutely safe but just this once was very uncalled for this one person. kindly look into this staff.

It's really surprising how local people do not show this place to people more often. This is an extraordinary place in kalimpong. Not very far from The city centre, this place can be reached by car or bike pretty easily. It's a garden but also they provide food and accommodation. The garden has several varieties of cactus plants. They are simply amazing. I have never seen so many varieties of cactus plants in my life at one single place. I had a really amazing time here. It would be good if they have more of other types of plants as well.

The pine view nursery is basically a nursery of cactus. You can see numerous cacti species in the greenhouses with detailed descriptions. Botanists will find this very encouraging. However, there are also some seasonal flowering plants around in the garden.
There are some small cafe available inside for chilling out, their juices are actually pretty good at a reasonable price.
The ticket prices when I went in November 2023 was ₹ 20 per head and ₹30 parking charge.
The best way to visit here is Kalimpong sight seen. You can do it one day tour with Delo park, durpin dara monestry, Science city, Morgan house ect.

It is amazing, beautiful, soothing place to have a visit. You can also buy plants from here. The plants price range starts from 150 Rs. to 1000+ Rs depending the plants variety. They give instructions how to maintain the plants when you eill buy any specific plant.
This place is properly cultured and maintained. You can sight beautiful cactus variants.

Wandering through the enchanting wonderland of diverse cactus and succulent varieties was a botanical adventure like no other. The vast array of large cacti and succulents, most of which were previously unknown to me, added an element of delightful surprise to the experience. Each plant seemed to tell a unique story, creating an immersive journey for anyone with an appreciation for the intricate beauty of nature.
If you're a plant enthusiast or simply curious about the fascinating world of succulents, this destination is an absolute must-visit. The botanical collection here is not just a garden; it's a living tapestry of nature's creativity, showcasing the stunning diversity within the cactus and succulent families.
On the flip side, my only gripe was the price tag on the food and drinks – a bit on the steeper side. Despite that, the botanical bliss made the visit totally worthwhile! 🌵🌿

My visit to Zang Dhol Palri Monastery left me with a mixed impression. The serene surroundings and spiritual ambiance were truly captivating, providing a tranquil escape. However, I couldn't help but notice areas where cleanliness could be improved, and the overall appearance might benefit from enhancements. Despite these aspects, the monastery offered an okay experience, and the cultural richness and religious significance were still palpable. It’s located next to Kalimpong city. I stayed one night in the guest house, with gst one room costs around 4000rs . Rooms has a good feeling, wall , floor all has wooden finish. Restaurant is there , but you have to order before what you want to have( choices are few). As I stayed there , that particular night I was the only person staying in that guest house other than one old couple in one room and one cook and caretaker. As soon as night appears , a bit haunted feeling comes . I tried to go to the pine garden but an owl or some animal shouted so loud I changed my mind instantly. But I must say you must stay at least one night in the guest house to experience the awesome feeling. A lot of homestays are there with a cheaper price. But it has another satisfaction if you stay one night there. A lot of things are there in the park , horse riding, and other activities. Next to the parks gate paragliding counters are there. 3500 rs per person if you want to do paragliding.

A very beautiful place to trek, Puja and Love.
The Coronation Bridge was constructed in 1937-41 to honour the coronation of King George-VI and Queen Elizabeth. Designed by PWD Darjeeling, John Chambers. Constructed by Gammon India.
The bridge has a steel arch design, its deck is built of steel girders and its arches are supported by concrete piers.
There are two lanes on the bridge, and both vehicles and pedestrians can use them. It serves as a crucial connection between Siliguri and Darjeeling and the rest of India’s northeastern states.
The Coronation Bridge is a popular tourist destination that provides a stunning view of the Teesta River and the hills in the area.
A number of food and gift stalls are situated close to the bridge, giving visitors a chance to sample regional cuisine and purchase souvenirs.

One of the most beautiful and picturesque places in Jalpaiguri district to visit if you are looking for a peaceful and picturesque spot where you can relax and take your time to enjoy the beauty of nature. This hidden gem in the mountains and valleys of West Bengal offers stunning views for miles in every direction. The bridge is an impressive piece of engineering and the viewpoint itself is a great spot for taking photos and admiring the views from various angles. The bridge is a fun and interesting structure to walk across, and there are benches for you to sit and enjoy the view. Most of the time, there is not much traffic in the area. If you are ever visiting West Bengal, you should definitely visit this place. The views are simply stunning and you will not want to miss this place.

We started our journey from Madarihat which is around 100 km away from Samsing/Suntalikhola. We were five persons in the group. One of the main attractions was beautiful tea gardens both the sides in our way to. Samsing. At Suntalikhola you have to take the local car from the spot for the sightscene. They charge you Rs 400 for almost nothing. So we dropped the plan and decided to travel by walk. First we went to hanging bridge. Then started to trek few km up towards muchaki army camp. There is a nice spot to take a look to the beautiful villages in this route. Foods are overpriced, you will find few local restaurants at Suntalikhola stand.

Gorumara National Park is a vast floodplain and forest national park that covers an expansive area of almost 50 square miles. The park houses diverse wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, and leopards. For visitors looking to explore the park, it's recommended to opt for a jungle safari rather than a watch tower Safari. The best time for a jungle safari is during morning slots when chances of spotting an elephant are particularly high.
It's a bliss...endless stretch of greenery and the fresh air. The safari is a must-try here and one of the main attractions. There are 3 timings for safari: 6am,9am and 2pm. The early morning 6am slot timing is the best for safari. Tickets prices are: Rs.450 per head including a guide, plus another Rs.150 per vehicle entry fee. Each vehicle(top open gypsy jeeps) takes 4 passengers + 1 guide + 1 driver. You need to stand in line to get tickets and don't forget to take a xerox of your Aadhar card/other govt. id. There is a huge rush, so reach way before the timing and get a spot in the line(they have about 20 vehicles going per slot). The ticket counter is about 1km from Lake View Resort towards the market. Even if spotting a few animals here depends on luck, missing the wild experience would be a big mistake. There are 25 different kinds of orchids found here apart from many other trees worth watching. Amidst the forests, there are 2 tribal villages here. The roads running through the dense green forest on either side and the never-ending flow of cold breeze is perfect for any nature lover. It purifies your soul. A must-visit place for anyone willing to get a blend of little altitude, forest, small rivers and quiet, peaceful surroundings in the lap of nature.

Visited Gorumara National park for the first time. Had Jungle Safari by Gypsy, which costs 1935 for six persons including guide. The experience was good but we had bad luck. We couldn't spot any animal except some birds ( Hornbill and peacock). Although my expectations were not satisfied, the overall experience was good.

"Absolutely mesmerizing experience at Gorumara Tiger Reserve! From the moment you enter, the dense forest embraces you, with picturesque tea farms on your left, setting the perfect scene for adventure. The thrill of encountering elephants is unmatched, and the observation points offer blissful moments for photographers and sightseers alike. It truly feels like stepping into a dreamful spot where nature's wonders unfold before your eyes. An amazing experience that left me in awe of the beauty of our natural world!

Gorumara National Park is one of the most dense forests of West Bengal. Sometimes I felt it denser than Jaldapara. It’s a big forest with a huge variety of wild animals and a number of plants. The main attraction of Gorumara National Park is the Jeep Safari from NIC Lataguri to Jatraprasad Watch Tower. The best timing for the Jeep Safari is 3:30 PM to 5 PM because this time there is much possibility to find wild animals especially Elephant, Peacocks and Deers. The Rhino is also a main attraction of this place. In the evening time you can feel the silence of deep forest which can’t be felt in the morning or afternoon. Online booking is available at West Bengal Forest Department Website. You can book the Safari online and enjoy the wildlife beauty.

It's all about luck here. If luck favours you, you can behold the sight of the Indian elephants, barking deers, peacocks and the Indian Rhino. The guides are very skilled and can spot them at one go. We had the time slot from 6am to 7:30am. The coolness of the fresh air and the morning sun will add an extra edge to the safari.

Gorumara National Park is in Northern West Bengal, India. Located in Dooars region (foothills of Himalaya). It is a small forest preliminary habitat of Indian rhinoceros. Apart from this it has got varieties of elephant, bison, leopards, wild cats and birds. Also so many insects.
Lovely place to visit with friends and family during weekends. This park has safari timings at both morning and evening for very less number of tourists. Therefore, getting a chance to have safari inside the jungle is really wonderful experience.

Safari program not exciting at all. Offline morning booking available morning at before 5AM .ticket processing and ride start from 6AM slot wise.
If enjoy safari program then confirm online book at Jaldapara National Park and stay not Lataguri. It is my views and experience based on multiple area local public. However other than jungle safari like peripheral sightseeing is fine.

Service from Gorumara national park is good like pick up from your kpdtc resort and drop.
They have a dedicated folk dance show after the safari if it is in the evening.
But if you are interested in seeing animals this safari is not for you.
Hardly you can spot any animals.
We got to see only peacock and bison.

Nice jeep safari deep inside the forest. If one drive around outside there is possibility of elephant sightings. We saw a rhino from the watch tower.

Recently we have visited this National Forest. We booked our safari car from the gate of Murti Banani Resort. There is a hike in the tariff has been observed for the jeep safari. We took the safari in the afternoon at 3:30 PM.
We found peacock, elephants, bison & dears during our safari. But, most importantly it was the vibes of the jungle that we enjoyed most. It was really a dense jungle & certainly well maintained by the authority.

Nature at its best. Preferably stay st Kalipur Eco Village run by Forest Department. They only have four trees houses in the property amidst tree garden and jungle. Stay itself is thrilling. Food is basic but tasty, special mention Mr Biswanath who always there to take care of you. Don't expect any luxury, everything is basic, just enjoy the nature. Ample car parking space. You can also enjoy tribal dance in the evening.

Very good place for a short trip. Peaceful and serene environment. Safari can be booked online. The photos attached are from the jatraprasad watchtower safari. The animals we saw: Indian Gaur, wild boar, Rhinos, sambar deer, lots of Birds. There are lots of places to stay but wbfdc and wbtdcl cottage and resorts are best. We visited twice- stayed at Banani Murti resort by wbtdcl and Gorumara Elephant Camp by Wbfdc. Had different but both good experiences.
National park comprised of savannah & forests that are home to rhinos, elephants, leopards & more.
It's a wonderful place to visit. You get to see a lot of flora and fauna.
They have elephant safaris and vehicle safaris, for which you need to book in advance.
We booked the elephant safari and it was a great experience.
They have a lodge there but it is mostly booked so, getting a room there can prove to be difficult.

One of the best places for jungle safari in West Bengal. Make sure to book your safari a day before and take the first safari in the morning to maximize animal sightings.
You should be able to spot various birds, rhinos, elephants, barking deers etc. here.

My experience was simply awesome!
I have to say I was indeed quite lucky to have spotted the rhinoceros, elephants, deer, and tonnes of birds in one go. Witnessing the rhinoceros was quite unexpected.
You can choose to have the safari either on a jeep (Cost - Rs.700 per person for a car of 6) or on elephant backs (Rs. 1200/1400 per person for a group of 4-6 people) . Trust me, it's totally worth it.

A beautiful forest with a variety of trees and wild animals. I come here with my family. We have spotted rhino, bison, deer, boar, peafowls and elephants. Car safari is amazing and elephant safari is awesome. Forest guides help us to spot animals.

Good small safari.
It starts getting slight cold at night.
Government has maintained government tourist lodge and their restaurants in a good way just like private restaurants.
Jeel safari and elephant safari options available.
Rhino's and bison and peacock can be seen easily.

The jungle safari is full of thrill as you have to be aware of your surroundings! The safari Jeep runs through the green forest which is a medicine to the eyes! One can easily spot a lot of peacocks, elephants, bisons.. and if you're lucky you may encounter some rhinos and hornbill birds too!

There are six national parks in West Bengal & if I have to take 2 names. Then 1 is Gorumara National Park & another one is Jaldapara National Park. You can see wild rhino, elephant, bison, sambar deer, peacock here. Take the jungle safari (car safari), that's one of the best attraction here. After car safari you can enjoy local tribal dance. Forest is maintained, hats off to those forest officers & staff whe are deployed here.

Jaldapara national park is famous for rhinos, elephants and bisons. You have to buy tickets @187/- per head and can avail jeep safari, elephant safari at per the cost mentioned. Animals are rarely seen. Best time to watch these animals here inbetween March and may. Early morning safari or afternoon safaris are better to try.

Beautiful place to visit and spend time with nature. Jungle has lots of wild fauna and it will keep you interested, one has to be lucky to sight leopard although they are quite in numbers. One can sight lots of spotted deers, sambar, rhinos, peacocks, elephant, hornbill etc. But without a rhino sighting it is incomplete. Get your cameras to the safaris. Carry face covering masks, shades, cap or wrap around as red soil will ensure you get a good covering from it. Overall a great outing!!!
And please keep your mobile phones silent mode at the time of safari, it will gives you more peaceful safari.
Thank you..... 🙏

Jaldapara National Park is located in West Bengal, India. Known for its diverse flora and fauna, it's home to the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, elephants, and various bird species. The park offers safari experiences, providing a chance to observe wildlife in their natural habitat.
Apratim Guha — Google review
Costs -1200/- (excluding vehicle charge)per head for an elephant ride for 1 hour(actually 35-40mins).
1200 /- includes guide charges i.e. Rs350/-
Guides are pathetic. Hardly explains about the flora fauna or ecology of the national park.
The ticket counter is 7km from the elephant riding point(from where the ride begins) and for that part only ,the guide is available (not the entire trip).
The route from the ticket counter to elephant point of 7km carries an additional charge of Rs800/- if you have brought your own vehicle. If not, they provide a jeep but costs even more.
Scenery -
The park is famous for One horned rhino.
Went there twice.hardly found any.
Other fauna like pelicans and deers are also not seen.
The elephant ride timings are in 3 shifts (6:30 am,7:30 am and 8:30 am onwards for which you have to arrive 30 mins early respectively). When asked, neither of the 3 shifts found any one horned rhino.
They have 5 elephants for each ride carrying 4 people each.
Elephant routes are hardly 2-3km long in the jungle.
Conclusion -The national park is great if you want an elephant ride in the forest.Cost per head is on a higher side. The guide provided is compulsory and is good for nothing.
However Jeep routes are longer (approx 15km) and last upto 1.5hr. You can spot tribal dance after 3:30pm.

One of the cynosures of the Phuentsholing town. It's a Buddhist temple. People from all walks of life congregate here for a wisp of fresh air and seek refuge in the Buddhist doctrine. It has prayer wheels, a park, and some site beautifications done making an iconic structure in the town.
Note: this site has been plotted twice. The other one is "Zangtopelri" and I didn't realise I had already reviewed it years ago.
It, as it seems, is the only place in the town that is quaint and refreshing amidst the hustle and bustle in its surrounding spaces. It is also an instant attraction to the people passing by the same particularly, the Indian residents. I have often seen them frequent this place for site-seeing and some clicks.
The place is suitable for a visit for people of all ages. As you can see, there are some elderly who come here to pray and circumambulate; there are teens who come here to meet their friends; there are kids who enjoy playing there; and there are some shoppers too who come there for some rest too.
And lately, the setting up of open gym inside this facility has added more to this place. Worth a visit, for sure.

Zangdo Pelri Lhakhang is a site of great religious significance in Bhutan. Also known as the ‘Paradise of Guru Rinpoche’, it sits right in the heart of the Phuentsholing town, just close to the Bhutan Gate and Immigration Office, offering peace and solace to the distressed hearts. Built in the 1900s by Dasho Aku Tongmi, the musician and composer of Bhutan’s National Anthem, the temple is a three-storied complex with splendid exteriors fringed with a beautiful garden where visitors can relax and soak in the spiritual vibes.

Chilapata Forest
National forest
Nature & Parks
Densely wooded reserve popular for safaris, home to wildlife including rhinos, monkeys & elephants.
Although Chilapata is a renowned and dense forest, still it is yet to get any honour for National Park or Reserve Forest. Chilapata forest comes under Jalpaiguri district in eastern Dooars and closes to Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary. Enriched with flora and fauna Chilapata forest forms an elephant corridor between Jaldapara National Park and Buxa Tiger Reserve. The ecological boundary of Chilapata spreads along the banks of Bania river in the east and river Torsha in the west. Both rivers bring fresh monsoon alluvial to support and protect the grassland ecosystem of the forest.
Chilapata in Dooars is a dense forest and offers the genuine flavour of wild-life in the wilderness. Going through the forest is really thrilling to feel like cutting a green wall. Once famous for its terror of bandits, the forest has become one of the major visiting places for the visitors travelling in Dooars. Chilapata forest features the wonders of wildlife in the real colour of nature.
Chilapata is a hub of wild animals. It used to have a large number of one-horned rhinos. But the ruthless killing by the King of Coochbehar during the last leg of the 19th century brought to dwindling of the population of rhinos. Apart from one-horned rhinos, a large number of elephants, bison, deer, leopard, lesser cats, cheetal, sambar, barking deer, wild boar etc. are available in the forest.
Reptiles like python, krait, cobra, water monitor and freshwater turtles enrich the wildlife of Chilapata forest make it one of the most precious treasures in Dooars.
Chilapata is also one of the favourite destinations for bird watchers in Dooars. The forest boasts about its colourful and beautiful birds like a fishing eagle, shikara, crested eagle, jungle fowl, peaceful partridge, Bengal florican, paradise flycatchers, racket tailed drongo, pied hornbill etc. Chilapata also is known for its butterfly species of diversity.
*Best time to visit* :
Many of North Bengal areas remains in beautiful atmospheric condition from the month of September to the month of February. Therefore, this time is the most suitable to visit Chilapata.

One can feel the eerie silence of the forest and watch animals and birds in their natural habitat. We say peacocks and bison. But forest guides are not so professional or knowledgeable. Avoid perfumes and vibrant colors during the safari. One has to buy online tickets in advance and pay the guide and jeep charges on spot.

Absolute trash jungle safari. The government officials will try to scam you and behave very rudely with you. They will charge you for guide but the guide will not say a single word and if you ask him anything he will just rudely behave with you. The only good thing is at the end of the safari, where you'll get to see some cultural dance by some very sweet locals.

Chilapata Forest is a dense and beautiful forest, which is a part of the Jaldapara Sanctuary. The Bania River flows through the forest. The nearst town is Hashimara, where we stayed at the Malangi Lodge. You can reserve the safari online through the WBFDA site by providing details of members. We paid Rs.480/- for 4 persons. Details of ID card of all members is required to be filled in and online payment made. We had booked the 4-5.30 pm afternoon safari and needed to report at the Chilapata Range Office by 10am. We paid Rs.1500/- as Vehicle Hire Charges, Rs.350/- as Guide Fees, Rs.200/- for Rava Dance and Rs.400/- for Entry Fee at that office. We were a group of 4. Original ID cards as provided at the time of online booking are checked there. The gypsy was exclusive for our party. The forest is said to have been named after Bir Chilarai, the commander-in-chief of King Nara Narayan's army. Remains of parapet walls of what was the Nal King's fort are visible but in a dilapidated condition. The guide will also show you the tree which bleeds -the Ram Guna tree. The forest is dense and the drive is lovely. All of a sudden, we came across a bison standing majestically, right in our path. We stopped at some distance, and then spied another one in the trees. It is advisable to maintain a distance from the animals and avoid making any kind of noise. We came across another bison close to the track during our return trip. Overall, a very satisfying safari.

It is the centerpiece of Coochbehar city administration setup, as all the important official buildings like DM's office, SP office, Municipality office, NBDD office, District Court, Sadar SDO office, Main SBI branch are placed like string of pearls. There isn't much to see at this place except a pond.
The area lacks proper maintenance by the local municipality, which makes it difficult to fully enjoy the experience.
One of the major drawbacks of Sagar Dighi is the poor condition of its benches. Most of them are broken and dirty, and some even covered by jungle growth. This can be quite disappointing for visitors who expect a clean and pleasant seating area while enjoying the scenic beauty of the surroundings.
However, still you will see couples and teenagers are roaming around it. You can say that’s the main attraction of it to have a place to hangout instead a park and paying park fees 😀.
Mostly popular with Nibba Nibbis though.

Madan Mohan Bari or Madan Mohan Temple in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, is one of the most important Hindu temples in North Bengal. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna and was built during the fag end of the 19th century. Unlike other Hindu temples, the Madan Mohan Temple Mandir is pure white in color. Below is the highlights of temple along with short history of Cooch Behar Madan Mohan Bari.
The large temple complex also houses the idols of Goddess Kali, Goddess Tara and Goddess Bhavani. Raas Mela, in October or November, and Rath Yatra, in June or July, are the most important festivals.

Madanmohan temple was built by Malla king Durjan Singha (pronunciation: sing-ho) in 1695 AD. It is relatively a bigger Eka-Ratna temple compared to other similar temples in Bishnupur and is important too. The temple has a square base of 12.2m X 12.2m and a height of 10.7m above a moderate platform.

It's a Hindu temple. It's the temple of lord Krishna. Earlier it may have some historical background but now it's purely a religious organization. For camera and phone you have to pay an extra of 50/and 20/- respectively. No entry fee. If you are not interested in visiting a temple nothing much to see. Quite a crowded places.
Spacious jungle park featuring a range of wildlife, including tigers, elephants, bison & civets.
It is a scenically very beautiful place. Currently it is closed on tuesday. From april it will be closed on thursday. Two wheeler entry is stopped. Only four wheller allowed. If you have two wheeler you have to park it at the entry gate and book autorickshaw. Jayanti river is at the end of buxa.

Frankly there was nothing much to see except for a museum. The museum has fossils of different animals that are found in the Buxa jungle, and animal skins, eggs, babies mummified. If you are lucky you might see some animals while traveling towards Jayanti river. We only saw monkeys.

An expert guide and entry permit are must for trekking in Buxa hills. One may visit the very beautiful village of Dukpas called Lapchakha (1.5 hour trek) from Buxa Fort. A beautiful trekkers' hut named Dukpa's Hut (with attached bath) is located just opposite to the Buxa Fort ground and besides of Rupang Valley Trek route
More than 100,000 cattle graze in the reserve daily. Weeds, unpalatable grasses and shrubs have invaded the overgrazed areas

Buxa Tiger Reserve lies in Alipurduar district of West Bengal. Its northern boundary runs along the international border with Bhutan. The Sinchula hill range lies all along the northern side of BTR and the eastern boundary touches that of the Assam state. National Highway No.31 C roughly runs along its southern boundary. It is the easternmost extension of extreme bio-diverse North-East India and represents highly endemic Indo-Malayan region. The fragile "Terai Eco-System" constitutes a part of this reserve.
Mriganka Saha — Google review
Buxa Tiger Reserve is in the northeastern corner of West Bengal, bordering Bhutan and Assam. Buxa Tiger Reserve was set up on 16th of February, 1983 and was then, the 15th tiger reserve of the country. The forest constituting the Buxa Tiger Reserve is the largest in Dooars - the alluvial floodplains of Northeast India. Spanning over a whopping 759 sq. km., this tiger reserve is irrigated by several rivers and their tributaries. It boasts of a diverse and breathtaking landscape. In fact, because of the rocky terrain, many parts of the forest in the Buxa hills that lie in the Sinchula Range are inaccessible even by the authorities, and hence remain unexplored even after so many years!
Another interesting fact about this tiger reserve is that it serves as an international corridor for the migration of elephants between India and Bhutan. This is because the Phipsu Wildlife Sanctuary in Bhutan is adjacent to the northern part of the Buxa Tiger Reserve. This reserve is home to 67 species of mammals, 36 species of reptiles and 230 species of unidentified flora and fauna and encompasses more than eight types of forests. The great diversity of mammals in this reserve makes it the second highest among all tiger reserves in India.

Buxa Tiger Reserve is a beautiful area encompassing forests, hills and rivers. It covers a large area and contains a variety of flora and fauna. The same forest extends eastwards into the Manas Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam. Not all areas of this reserve are accessible, and there are few places to stay in the vicinity due to restrictions on construction of hotels and resorts by the court. One needs to take a permit from the Forest Office as Rajabhatkhawa. We paid Rs.880/- for 4 persons plus vehicle. Photo ID is required. There is a Nature Interpretation Centre nearby, which provides information about birds and animals in the sanctuary. You can spend some time.there and leave your comments. The drive to Jayanti was lovely. We took the afternoon Jeep Safari at 1.30 pm which cost Rs.1500/- for 4 persons inclusive of everything. The jungle was quite dense in parts and we came across a herd of elephants at a water hole. A magnificent sight! The river Jayanti flows through this reserve. There is no online booking for this safari. Jayanti/Buxa should definitely be included in your itinerary if you visit the Dooars. The sheer natural beauty of the place is amazing

We wanted to do something different from the sightseeing we usually do as tourists but also something that's doable for beginners. The Ranidhunga hike was just right. Our guide Snacgahang was very kind and it was a joy hiking with him. He was also very knowledgeable about the plants and animals and local lore. The packed lunch and tea were refreshing. Built in 16th century. One of the Panchatirthas (meaning-5 shrines) in Hajo. Had a lake with fish and tortoises. Good place for looking into Medival times craftmanship as well as for devotion. Situated in Nakkati hill, so will give a eye view of Hajo. This graceful and famous vaisnava shrine of Hajo dedicated to Lord Visnu is popularly known as Hayagriva Madhava. Standing on an isolated hill, popularly known as Manikut Parvat, this temple was rebuilt in CE 1583 by Koch king Raghudeva (CE 1581- 1603), over the foundation of the ancient temple ruins of 10th- 11th century CE, as reflected in the plinth through mouldings of friezes of elephants(Gajatharas) and geometrical designs of low relief in the basement. The layout of the temple follows the original salient features and recesses of the earler plan. The Nagara Sikhara of the temple is gracefully executed with the sculptures of various divinities of the Brahmanical pantheon over the garbhagriha and the flat roof of mandapa is connected through an antarala. The doorway of the mandapa is arched and its roof is supported by four massive pillars on the four corners.

Shri Shri Hayagriv Madhav Mandir is a famous Hindu temple located in Hajo, a small town in the Kamrup district of Assam, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Hayagriva avatar, which is the god of knowledge and wisdom.
According to legends, the temple was originally built in the 6th century AD by the King of the Pala dynasty, Bhaskar Varman. However, the temple was destroyed by Muslim invaders and was later rebuilt by the Koch King, Raghudeva Narayan in the 16th century.
The temple is considered to be one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in Assam and is visited by thousands of devotees every year. The main shrine of the temple is a five-tiered structure with a dome-shaped top, and it is surrounded by smaller shrines dedicated to other Hindu deities.
The temple is also known for its unique architecture, which combines Hindu and Islamic styles. The walls of the temple are adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, and the ceiling is painted with scenes from Hindu mythology.
The temple is also home to a large library that houses a vast collection of ancient manuscripts and books on various subjects. The library is open to the public and is a must-visit for anyone interested in exploring the rich cultural heritage of Assam.
The best time to visit Shri Shri Hayagriv Madhav Mandir is during the annual festival of Janmashtami, which is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. During the festival, the temple is decorated with lights and flowers, and devotees offer prayers and perform traditional dance and music.

This is the Mandir that gives me the vibes of an old temple. I have visited this temple almost every year form my childhood and no other temple can give me the vibes that Shri shri Hayagriv Madhav Mandir can. This temple will give you the vibes of a really old temple. Most of the temples have a feeling of modernity but Madhav Mandir doesn't which attracts me the most. Also the beauty of the place around the temple gives me a good vibe. Altogether this is a place you must try to visit. Seek blessings from Lord Vishnu and wish for a beautiful life.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Devotees have to first take off their shoes/sandals/slippers and wash their feet and then only can go to the temple. It is situated on top a hillock. The way to the temple has about 95 steps from the gate to the main entrance. The moment you enter the place, history engulfs you. The temple has engravings and stone-cut portraits of deities on the walls. The craftsmanship is worth mentioning. Devotees can offer prayer to Lord Vishnu. From the top, people get a very nice view of Hajo town and the nearby suburbs and agricultural fields.

The Hajo town in Kamrup district is about 25 km away from Guwahati and is visited by Hindus, Budhists and Muslims because of its several temples and Pav Mosque. First we visited Haygriva Madhav Temple situated on Monicut Hills. There are several shops and restaurants besides parking for vehicles here. To go to the temple on the hillock one has to climb about 100 straight steps and that could be painful for senior citizens or persons with knee problems. However, after reaching the top we were really enthralled to find a small and clean temple made of stones presenting a beautiful view of greenery all around and a big pond also. There are several small temples also. The original temple is believed to have been constructed in 6th century AD by the erstwhile Hindu rulers who probably believed in Vaishnavism. Having undergone destruction in later centuries by foreign invaders it was rebuilt in 17th century. It is octagonal in shape and its walls have beautiful carvings. The ruling deity of the temple is the man-lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu and it is highly revered by the Hindus. It is also revered by the Budhists because they believe that Lord Budha got Nirvan (breathed last) here after prayer. It is a very clean and well maintained campus and is always crowded because people from far and near regularly visit the temple. There are also two more temples about 20 to 30 km away, like Kedareshwara temple of Lord Shiva and Madan Kamdeva temple (where Kamdeva, lord of passion was burnt by Lord Shiva when he opened his 3rd eye to send fire rays on Kamdeva on being distracted from meditation. Due to shortage of time we could not go there. However, we visited Pav Mecca that came on our way while returning. It is also situated on a hillock but the uphill curvy road going there is in a very good condition. This mosque also has a history and is of great importance. The foundation soil is believed to have been brought from Mecca and so people who cannot afford to visit Mecca come here as it has Pav (one fourth) importance. It is believed to have been constructed by Moghul emperor Shahjahan's general who had camped here during battle against the local Hindu king and later died. The whole Hajo town thus has great history and is worth the visit.

Bhuvaneswari Temple is a famous Hindu temple situated on the bank of river Gomati in Udaipur, Tripura. The temple is immortalised in two of Rabindranath Tagore's plays namely Rajarshi and Bisharjan. It's a rare specimen of temple architecture built by Maharaja Govinda Manikya, and is located near the old Royal palace of Maharaja Govinda Manikya, constructed during 1660-1675 A.D.Flanked by hillocks, the Burudih Lake in the Ghatshila Block in East Singhbhum is a favourite site for water sports. There are facilities for motor and pedal boating, with upcoming provisions for water surfing and banana rides. The hillocks surrounding the lake are a part of the oldest rock site in the world. The forests covering the low hills are a part of the elephant corridor from the Dalma range to Midnapur in West-Bengal.
You may be lucky to spot trekking elephants, along the hills. From the railway station auto rickshaws are easily available for reaching Burudih Lake.Ghatsila is 136 kms from Ranchi. Burudih lake is 9 kms from Ghatsila Block.
