There is the feeling of urban and rural areas, and the beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers. Designated as a provincial tourist resort in 1994, it is an emerging tourist resort integrating mountains, lakes and cities.
Liuye Lake is named because the lake surface resembles a willow leaf. Chu State poet Qu Yuan once boated and sang here.

Baofeng Lake is situated in the Suoxi Valley Nature Reserve and is a popular tourist attraction in Zhangjiajie. It is the sole lake scenic spot present in this region and functions as a reservoir for crop irrigation, complete with a dam. Baofeng Lake Scenic Area has been designated as a World Natural Heritage site since 1992, encompassing two areas: Baofeng Lake and Yingwo Stockaded Village.
The fog made everything more magical ✨ It was less crowded and energy-zapping 🙏🏼 I also went on a amazing boat ride where you could bring back a guy/girl if you reciprocated their singing, which is a very interesting custom.
Waiting time for the boat ride could take some time!

Honestly, quite disappointing. The whole thing felt really fake - the actual lake is artificial so it just looks like an unatural flooded valley - becasue it is (and probably caused a ton of environmental damage). And then you go round on the boat past some people in costumes singing, which I know is symbolic and traditional but the way you just go past looking at them feels really inauthentic, like you're on a theme park ride. It was pretty I guess. I went in mid March and all the walking paths were closed, so literally the only thing you can do is go on a 5 minute bus, 20 minute boat and then bus back. There's a waterfall section with museum too but that's so small it can be seen in way less than 30 mins. So for ¥95 (for entry plus boat) it was not good value, felt like an inauthentic theme park and just boring. Wish I'd gone back into Zhangjiajie National Park instead.

Beautiful, scenic and picturesque lake in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie. If you go on a misty day, you can enjoy a Chinese landscape painting coming to life with the ethereal and mythical aura enclosing the locale. This is an artificial fresh-water reservoir created by blocking gorge and building dam in the 1970s

Shape imagination while enjoying the lake view along with different rocky mountains is the main adventure of the Chinese traditional boat journey through the lake. The lake has an average depth of 72 meter with an maximum depth of 169 meter approximately. Mountain love songs are one of sweetest parts to enjoy the boat journey, sung by male & female, individually, they wait in two separate cottages located at the feet of mountains & when any boat crosses their cottage they start to sing loud to cheer the tourists. It also includes a bus journey through the snaky mountain road. At the terminal point, there is also a natural flow of a large amount of water coming down to mountains feet. A small pond exists there, colorful fishes swim to get some adore from the cheerful tourists. A baby fish, age of almost 70, lives there in a pond, people gives him coins & notes to make fulfill the wishes they want. A baby fish lives nearly around 150 years of life span. It's about 4 feet in length & 12-15kg in weight. Moreover, you may have an amazing visit to Baofeng Lake for half a day if you plan to go there in near future.

Yellow Dragon Cave Kindergarten is a must-visit in Zhangjiajie, China. It's the largest and most beautiful cave in the area, with stunning views and impressive size. The guided tour includes interesting stories about the cave's history and features like two doors symbolizing happiness and long life. Visitors also enjoy a short boat ride inside the cave, enhanced by colorful lighting that adds to its beauty. Overall, it's an amazing and wonderful experience worth exploring while in Zhangjiajie.
Largest underground cave I ever visited my problem with this review is which photos and pictures should I select to put along with this post . It took us 20 min from our hotel to reach to cave area , then very long walk to main entrance of the cave many stories been told by our guide like the 2 doors they believe one for happiness and one for long life , then short boat ride go and back about 10 min, amazing views , huge cave , they put lighting make cave more lively and beautiful should visit is you are in Zhangjiajie .

Physically challenging, and I won't recommend to anyone with bad knees, unfit or elderly persons.
Visited this Yellow Dragon Cave (Huanglongdong) on Monday, 11 March 2024, as the original optional tour "Fairy Fox Show" was cancelled (under renovations).
Only a short boat ride (less than 10 mins) inside the cave, but there's a long treacherous walk up and down the narrow, steep, wet, slippery steps uphill and downhill...
There's a total of 4 stages of physically demanding walking after the boat ride. Stage 3 is the resting point and short cut to the cave exit. But even that, it's still a long 20-30 mins walk from Stage 3 to the exit.
Kindly take note that the "rude" young lady cave Guide will not allow anyone to turn back and drop out, and will try to coax everyone to complete this long physically challenging cave walk.

Huanglongdong or Yellow Dragon Cave is a last minute replacement Option to our original Fairy Fox Show (ongoing renovations) under our Zhangjiajie Tour package.
I don't recommend this option tour for elderly persons, unfit or anyone with weak knees.
There's a long hike thru steep, narrow, and wet stairs (numerous up and down stairs) after the short boat ride.
There's NO TURNING BACK. Go at your own risk.

Yellow Dragon Cave is the most beautiful and biggest cave in Zhangjiajie. China likes to put too many lights and colors in a cave, which ruining the natural beauty.

One of the world largest stalactites and stalagmites formation in the world inside this cave. It was a large cave and lots of steps like more than 500 steps required to walk thru out with combination of walking and boat ride. Not so special as the lighting rather too much and colorful. Cost RMB 100 per person to enter and do remind yourself it is warm inside the cave especially when you come in winter that you wear lots of winter clothing. Walk for 2.5 hours with guided tour over 4.5km distance can be a challenge for many. Some of the stalactites and stalagmites was huge and there over million of years.. you can skip if you don’t have time to visit as there are many similar one in the world!
Charming Xiangxi Grand Theatre is a must-see attraction in Zhang Jia Jie, offering great shows that captivate visitors. While the ticket price may be considered expensive at 298 yuan per person, the experience of watching the performances makes it worth it for many travelers.

Worth every penny of the ticket price (which I bought beforehand on Klook).

(Translated by Google) Today, we visited the beautiful scenery of Zhangjiajie Scenic Area, which was refreshing and dreamlike. After dinner, the tour guide took us to the theater to enjoy the "Charming Xiangxi Show". It is said that it is also a big show not to be missed. We gathered at the entrance of the theater. The theater is like a city, bright and bright. Classical style, majestic, the tour guide handed out tickets one by one by roll call, and we needed to be seated. When we entered, the host just opened the theater and delivered a welcome speech. The theater was full of seats, and even the tour guide could not enter to watch.
The performance content is mainly based on folk dances and traditional skills. Through the performance, we introduce the national culture and characteristics of Xiangxi, such as the popular corpse driving in Xiangxi, Tujia weeping marriage, etc. It also solves mysteries for us. The performance process is very exciting, and the costumes and props are shining. Gorgeous, but not too stunning. After the theater performance, everyone moved to the square outside to continue watching the outdoor performances. These performances had dangerous props such as knives and fire, so they had to be performed outdoors. There was also a great calligrapher that night. There were many people vying for the calligraphy treasures at the scene, but I just watched from the sidelines.

Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a stunning geological formation that boasts the world's longest and highest glass bridge, providing visitors with panoramic views of the surrounding valley, mountains, rocks, and waterfalls. To reach the bridge from the other side of the mountain, visitors must walk down into the valley and then hike up to their destination. An elevator can help save some steps, but hiking is still required.
One of the highlights of our Zhangjiajie Tour. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is famous for its Glass Bridge, which is the longest and highest outdoor glass bridge in the World.

Grand Canyon and the Giant glass bridge, 大峡谷,玻璃桥。The trial is, we need to walk down the valley and cross the bridge from the other side of the mountain. along the way you can see all the amazing valley, mountains, rocks and a waterfall which flow out from the middle of the rock mountain. On the way of walking up, there is a elevator that help you to saved a few steps, but generally you still need to do a lot of hiking. When you are on the top of the mountain, the giant glass bridge is waiting for you, u need to cross the bridge go back to the main building complex. Enjoy the scary moment and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Grand Canyon.

A must-see. Most people visit this place to walk on the glass bridge, but it has a lot more to offer. The glass bridge itself is interestingly built, using big glass plates. However, since many people have walked on them, their transparency is a bit lower than expected. Do take the time to visit the grand canyon as well. It showcases nice extremely blue rivers, special fauna and has some typically Chinese extra's, such as a slide, a death ride (both for 30 yuan pp) and a free boat ride. Worth the time.
Cedric Bru — Google review
Good views from the glass bridge, although it's not entirely glass, only glass pieces within the metal bridge. The bridge is not as scary as it seems, people just made a big deal about it. Just walk through it! Hugeeeeee crowds even though it's not peak season, you won't be able to get a picture without people in the background. Walking sticks or huge-sized cameras are not allowed.
Real challenge comes when walking the 1680 stairs down to the canyon. Not recommended for people who're not physically fit in case your legs go weak.
The walk along the river is easy with walking paths nicely laid. Get prepared with umbrella or raincoats as you'll get wet while walking along the river due to multiple waterfalls along.
A boat ride to end the visit to the grand canyon. Mountain/canyon view is good too.
Recommended to visit once in your lifetime for the magnificent views despite of the never ending crowds.
Jeen Ching — Google review
If you want to know whether you are afraid of height or no, then you should try this one haha. The bridge connected two-top of the hills, but the glass is only placed in the mid section of the bridge hehe.
It's quite entertaining, as it is the first for me to step on this glass bridge. It sometimes can be too crowded, but managed to take photos on some of the glasses when not many ppl ard haha.
You need to buy the ticket at least one day in advance, and you need to enter at the allocated time. If not, your ticket will be gone. Just bring some essential things, no DSLR, no mirrorless. Or you need to put this on the storage room, and get this back when you finished (the entrance and the exit is on a two different area).
After glass bridge, theres also a trekking at the Zhangjiajie grand canyon (optional)

This is where Zhuge Liang lived in seclusion for ten years before leaving the mountains, and it is also where Liu Bei visited the thatched cottage three times. Stepping into Longzhong, the first thing that catches your eye is the large stone archway built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. On one side of the archway is engraved a famous line from Du Fu's "The Prime Minister of Shu": Three visits frequently make plans for the world, and two dynasties open up the hearts of veterans. On the back are engraved the five characters "Three Generations Next". In memory of Zhuge Liang, he was praised by later generations as the most outstanding figure after Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties. In the scenic area, there are also "Ten Scenic Spots in Longzhong" built by later generations because of their admiration for Zhuge Liang. If you go to Gurungzhong, it is recommended to watch "Thatched Cottage Theater". This is the first live-action drama performed in the form of thatched cottage in China, including three scenes including "Longzhong Duo", "The Song of the Ugly Wife" and "Red Cliff Ode".

The Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum is a renowned attraction featuring lifelike terra-cotta warriors dating back to the 3rd century BC. Located in the Xian region, it is one of China's most popular tourist destinations, offering a glimpse into history with historical monuments and ancient sites such as the Terracotta Warriors, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Ancient City Wall, and Shaanxi History Museum.
I’m not one for archaeology but this one is pretty cool. There are three large buildings housing these things and the picture shows the inside of the biggest one. Apparently when I went many of the terra cottages warriors were taken out to be studied. Supposedly the best one is the tomb of the first emperor of china which supposedly has some high technology in there but technology isn’t advanced enough to open it without damaging it. I guess I’ll have to come back to see that one someday

Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an China. Worth seeing if you ever get the chance. This place is amazing. There are so many things to see here and the story behind this site is incredible. I would highly recommend visiting here to any tourist.

Pretty easy to get to (at least from Zhonglou station as there are shuttle buses from around there) but not so simple to return back to Xi’an. I ultimately had to take a cab to a nearby subway station and take the train from there. Getting inside the museum is a hassle as there are a lot of artificial obstructions to stem the flow of literally tens of thousands of people visiting everyday. You can pay for the ticket via WeChat by reading a QR code but if you don’t have its payment option available, you’re going to need to go inside the ticketing station to pay physically (which is rarely done by the locals themselves and is almost completely empty). The actual Terracotta Army is fantastic but the behavior of the tourists leave a lot to be desired. Constantly pushing, shoving, jostling for a better vantage point, completely needless of who might be walking where, stepping on people’s feet, yelling, smoking, honestly it’s genuinely miserable. There’s a small cinema there (VR) but it’s a whole 68 RMB for a ticket (not included in the 120 RMB I paid for the museum ticket) so I left without watching.

The terra cotta sculpture and Qin bronze chariot are definitely stunning. There were too many people visiting at the same time even on weekdays and the arrangement from the management could have been better (setting a constant audience flow, letting people sit at a place to watch movies/recording). If you want less crowded time, try visit 丽山园 first and go to terra cotta around 4:50 pm. Be sure to reserve at least a few days ahead!

Got to the warrior site. So big. So stunning. I went around five o clock. No queues. Could easily see around the pits. It was an amazing experience. Taxis will always try and rip you off. I got a lift back to the station from some Chinese looking hippies. Mad to get in their car but…..

Its one of the greatest excavations of this century. An amazing work carefully done by the experts. There are 3 halls explored so far, hall 1 is the most excavated one with hundreds of human sized sculptures recivered and rstored. The formations and deployment of the troops decoded by chinese experts is amazing. These were created by the 1st chinese emperor of unified imperial china qin shin during 259 to 210 bc.
Over 2300 years old work of art is a must see place if you are visiting xian. There is a VR movie theatre also which amplifies the experience. The parking area is about 10 minutes walk from the main halls. At times there is significant rush in hall 1 and it gets pretty much crowdy and stuffy. Its a wonderful place to see, a historic land mark and a great work of art

Just want to give advice that there is always a crowd there. Best to avoid holiday times it might take hours to get it. I went there around 830 and I didn’t have to wait and found it very easy to get around and take photos. The crowd usually in tours arrive around 10 so beat the crowd. If not you can still try to go during lunch time or before it is closed.
Always book a ticket in advance with your ID or passport

During my trip to China, I finally visited a place I had heard about countless times in the news and movies. The site was packed with tourists, both Asians and non-Asians, making it quite crowded even during non-peak seasons.
While the historical stories fascinated me, the actual physical view of the place left me feeling less awestruck than expected. Despite the crowds, the surrounding area was commercialized, but prices remained reasonable.
If you're Asian, chances are you've encountered this place in media. I recommend a visit for the historical value, especially with a tour guide to delve into its stories. However, manage your expectations; it's a brief 1.5-hour visit. Personally, I don't plan on returning unless the tomb of the first emperor is excavated. Once was enough for me.

Discovered accidentally in March 1974, this remarkable Mausoleum Site of First Emperor of Qin has included a Terracotta Army consisting more than 8000 Soldiers, as well as Weapons, Horses and Carriages. Constructed between 263 to 208 BC, this Mausoleum Site of Emperor of Qin was built to resemble XianYang -- the Capital City of Qin Dynasty. Served as Garrison to the Mausoleum, the Terracotta Warriors are life sized and arranged in Army Formations. Located around 40 kms from XiAn City Centre, it is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and a very Popular Tourist Attraction. There are plenty nice photos online already, I am uploading two from my visit as recommendation.

We bought the 2 entrance tickets to Terracotta army and Mausoleum, online. Then we took a premium taxi (Didi) from Xian downtown to the Terracotta Army location. This is much cheaper and more flexible arrangement than joining a tour. There is an audio guide so we could follow the 'story' of the place and history behind all that. We bought tickets to go on a ride around the mausoleum, which is a vast complex (feeling tired after long walks in Terracotta army site, a different site to the mausoleum). We spend about 2 hours to see all we can see there, most time was spent to queue for the ride. The king horses exhibition is worth seeing, especially for a materials engineer like me. Amazing materisls technology for c200 BC. Great place to go, but just too crowded to enjoy the exhibition.

Crowded, very crowded, even a pouring rain. But this is a once in a lifetime, bucket-list, do it again experience.

We began with the Exposition building, which was the perfect choice. It started with an detailed explanation on one of the Warriors, his look, hairstyle, height, mood, very interesting that all warriors have individual characters! After visiting the exposition building and all 3 pits, we went out and took the bus to the emperors mausoleum area, that is the part that hasn’t been explored yet. Instead of purchasing the electric car ticket, we just walked to the mausoleum (10mins walk) and end the day. Very nice experience

Great experience. Together with the Great Wall tells you why was China such great empire, and why it is becoming again. However, it can be a bit crowdy. Official parking available at very enterance, so don't react to many parking offers before. Personal guides with questionable English knoweledge available at enterence. Price starts from 50 eur, but it is nagotionable. Better solution is to take electronic guide available at the counter before entetence, with price between 5 and 10 eur. Try to buy souvenires as close to the exit gate as possible, because prices are lower than closer to the exhibition halls.

A must see in a lifetime! Such an amazing place to visit - 2000 yrs old history.. a must see truly. Now - to get there and visit properly - you must go on an organised tour. Foreigners cant buy tickets - also not possible on arrival. You have to ask a Chinese national to buy them for you or again go on a bigger tour. You must have your ID with you which is strange for visiting a museum. The crowds are proportionate to the number of people in China so have patience. Security like at the airport.

Great museum with intriguing history of China. Recommended to get a tour guide (available in different languages) as there is no poster or text around the museum.

Okay, okay, okay.... why are you thinking I have the "warrior's" a 5 star ⭐️ review? Well, first off, I give the Chinese a huge hats off for pulling this off!! They are the masters of creativity and illusions. The mere thought of a stadium of this magnitude with literally thousands of these warriors buried and meticulously excavated in less than 2 years, build a structure, and ready for display is not possible.... plus, they have a small display in the rear of this ginormous football stadium depicting as though humans are still dusting off some of their findings.... its literally comical. Anyway, the few terracotta warrior's that were found are actually in building 1 and are rich milk chocolate looking and are protected by little lighting. I'm thinking the government wanted to exaggerate the findings with something more attractive by building a huge stadium and meticulously placing all these clay creations in a "pit-excavation" style display for a "your money's worth" attraction.
Anyway, its my opinion, but ironically my son in law and myself were gazing across this magnificent stadium and literally turned and looked at each other almost on perfect cue and said, "are you thinking what I'm thinking"???? Hahahahahaha...
end of review
Thanks for reading
1-the first two photos are what we believe is propagated illusion.
2- The next 2 photos are much smaller warrior's and are what we believe are the real ones, but there were only a few of them

Not as spectacular by a long way as the Terracotta Army but interesting and a lot less crowded.
It is all underground and you need to spend a little time orientating yourself and figure out what leads to where and it's position relative to the actual tomb (which has not as yet been opened up).
Still impressive to see all these terracotta soldiers are still there after thousands of years.
Huaqing Palace, also referred to as Huaqing Hot Springs, is a renowned historical site that has served as an imperial palace for over 3000 years. Situated at the foot of Mount Li, it was initially built by Emperor Zhouyouwang of the Western Zhou Dynasty and later used by emperors from various dynasties including Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang for winter retreats.
Best Hotel I ever visited! Hot spring outdoor bath, lovely theater with the most high tech stage I ever seen, crazy good buildings and epic scenery basically a place for emperors to relax at but to a commoners price. Dinner is very good and at same price as neighbouring restaurants. I will come back here many more times! Worth every penny!

Interesting place and lots of historical buildings. Even a hotel within so you can stay in. It is better to get a guide when you arrive that can take you around to where you want to go. Tours, like what we went on, just took us to all the Tang dynasty bath houses, which, although historical, didn't really interest me after seeing the first one or two. Most of them are dried up and are just holes in the ground. Lots of photo opportunities.

A popular place of interest for tourists and locals. Everything here is newly built like many of the tourist attractions in China. The highlight of this place must be the old bath houses of the emperors and empresses. it is dry now and I wonder where does the hot spring flows to? Highly recommended if you are a huge Tang history fan. However, the landscaping of the Palace good and it is very well maintained, so there is a lot of photo opportunities.

Nice visit. I suggest to get a guide otherwise the visit would be a lot less interesting. It also helps if you know a bit about Chinese history as this place transcends through the history. The ground is big enough that you can avoid large groups of people that you typically encounter in China.

Really interesting with the little stories about how the emperor and the concubines used the facilities. Will take about 2 hours to go through it all. If you are not history lover, you may skip this park considering the entrance fee is not cheap (rmb 120). But since I'm a history lover, i'll still give this place a 4 rating. This park is located half way on the road to Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum. Bus fare is rmb 6 from Xi'an station East square. It is recommended to visit Huaqing park before heading to Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum (bus fare rmb 3). It's easier to hike a bus with empty seat from xi'an to a bus returning. If you're a foreigner, I strongly recommend you to hire a guide (they provide guide service at entrance). Otherwise you would not understand most part of the park. The park are rebuilt contemporary to reflect Tang's royal bath. There are archaeology findings, hot spring ponds built for the Emperor (some will think this is rather boring) dug out and preserved. 公園及建築多是近代重建。唯園內挖掘出土唐時代御用湯池幾座。其實也就幾個坑,若非歷史愛好者則覺得無趣。
It's quite misleading to call this place a parking lot. This is the actual tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. The final resting place of the first emperor of a united middle kingdom. After walking for miles (took a wrong turn, failing light, about to give up 🤤), I finally arrived at the top of a flight of steps, where an inconspicuous tomb stone erected in front of a hill with the base stretching as far as my eyes could see. I told myself : "This has got to be it!". Awesome! (Until the tomb is being excavated, we will never know what's inside, the whole world is waiting with bated breath for the day)

No doubt thousands of statues still remain to be unearthed at this archaeological site, which was not discovered until 1974. Qin (d. 210 B.C.), the first unifier of China, is buried, surrounded by the famous terracotta warriors, at the centre of a complex designed to mirror the urban plan of the capital, Xianyan. The small figures are all different; with their horses, chariots and weapons, they are masterpieces of realism and also of great historical interest.

Don't walk at all because it's very far. When we were driving it looked like we were going up a mountain.
We went to see 3 locations in total: Pit K9901 and Pit K0006 that are currently being excavated. I also saw the officials working. And the last point is the name plate in front of Qin Shi's tomb. Behind the sign is a large mound of earth where the royal body was buried. Each point must take the electric train to go. When we reached the final point, there was a name board in front of the grave. It's a bit of a walk.
The size of the mound where he was buried was larger than the pyramids in Egypt. If you look from a distance, it's a hill full of trees. It is said that there are valuable treasures buried within the tomb.

Just a heads up, this place is a tourist trap. Don’t even bother. Visit the real terracotta warriors not far from here

(Translated by Google) More than thirty years ago, because Xi'an had the eighth wonder of the world, the curator wanted to restore the remaining seven wonders to everyone. They rebuilt the Alexandria Lighthouse that was destroyed by the earthquake, so the Archimedes Station In the place where he grew up, the terracotta warriors wore lipstick because they were originally supposed to be red, which is called cinnabar. The museum has received a lot of ridicule and abuse in the past few decades. Only the museum and its director have persisted here and adhered to its original intention.
