The view of a frozen lake is so spectacular and spellbounding, that even words wont be sufficient to express the beauty. The lake remains frozen specially during the peak of the winter season.

Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changgu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m, the lake remains frozen during the winter season. A very sparkling place to make your photos enhanced everytime you click, go in Feb March. You may get ice there, however we went there last month with a little spoon of bad luck, neither clicked a picture with lake nor touched ice as they were absent. You may see the cow like creatures (I actually don't know the name of that species) get a ride, though it was optional. Make sure you visit the nearby market, food plazas definately disappoint you, although the washrooms are more expensive than iPhones in terms of accessing. May the photographs please you.

A great place to view Kanchenjunga Mountain & the lake. We find very little ice in the lake as snow fall is very less this year. Rope way is good but somewhat scary but once u reached at the top of the mountain u will enjoy Kanchenjunga Mountain & its view is unparalleled. One must be poet to describe its beauty. I become speechless & stayed there for 30 minutes to enjoy the view.

We visited Tsomgo in the 1st week of March 2008, with college friends.
1) Scenery: Magnificent atmosphere, with the whole lake frozen even in the month of March
2) Connectivity: Nicely connected via road transport with nearby tourist spots & important cities.
3) Food: There are multiple small shops around, where you can enjoy nice hot tea/coffee & simple snacks. Don't forget to enjoy a piping hot plate of Maggi amidst the snowfall
4) Attraction: Make sure to enjoy the exciting Yak ride.

Tsomgo Lake is truly breathtaking. It's surrounded by snowy mountains and looks amazing.
But our trip took a surprising turn when the weather suddenly changed. What started as light snow turned into a big storm followed by heavy hailstorm on the way back. It was a bit scary, but the view was still incredible. This kind of weather change happens a lot here, and the locals are used to it.
Overall, Tsomgo Lake is a beautiful place with some exciting adventures along the way.

The reflection of mountains on the lake is really mesmerizing. We started our journey from Madarihat which is around 100 km away from Samsing/Suntalikhola. We were five persons in the group. One of the main attractions was beautiful tea gardens both the sides in our way to. Samsing. At Suntalikhola you have to take the local car from the spot for the sightscene. They charge you Rs 400 for almost nothing. So we dropped the plan and decided to travel by walk. First we went to hanging bridge. Then started to trek few km up towards muchaki army camp. There is a nice spot to take a look to the beautiful villages in this route. Foods are overpriced, you will find few local restaurants at Suntalikhola stand.

The Hindu temple Hanuman Tok, located at the heart of Gangtok, is a beautiful and dramatic piece of architecture that worships Lord Hanuman. The temple is managed and maintained by the respected Indian Army, and can be visited by tourists near Gangtok Nathu La highway. The small Hanuman Temple located nearby offers panoramic views of surrounding hills.
Beautiful temple complex with a cool aura. Well maintained designated areas for washrooms, huge parking spaces all built by army divisions. Suggested to wear socks as it is at an high altitude with short 5 min walk where the floor will feel very chilly. Most impressive fact is is wheelchair enabled separate path built for disabled up to temple complex which is appreciable.

=> As the name suggests, Hanuman Tok is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and located near Ganesh Tok at a distance of around 11km from the Gangtok City.
=> It is believed that Lord Hanuman took rest here while returning to Lanka from the Himalayas carrying the Sanjeevani herbs to cure Lord Lakshman.
=> The temple was established in 1952 and since then maintained by the Indian army.
=> From the open balcony at the top, you can have an enchanting views of the Kanchenjunga hill, if you are lucky enough.
=> The serenity of the temple and the surrounding scenic beauty will compel you to stay here for a longer period.
=> I liked this place very much and recommend you to visit whenever you are in Gangtok.
=> Timings: 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM

This is the highest point of in Gangtok and have a quite beautifully built Hanuman ji and Ram lala temples. It is just a 10km drive with the last 2.5 KM of very steep drive on single road, however the roads are in good condition. The temple as well as the canteen of the temple are mantained by Indian Army. One must try their masala dosa. In the morning if you are lucky you may see Kanchenjunga mountain from this top. Overall a peaceful place away from the hustle bustle of the city. Do carry an umbrella as it may rain anytime here...

Hanuman tok a grand temple and view point in Gangtok
Tok means temple, so it is a temple of lord Hanuman. But it's actually far more than that and know for the wonderful serene ambience and a viewing area that offers spectacular view of kanchenjunga range. If you ask me which point is the whole of Gangtok idea offers the best view of kanchenjunga, I don't hesitate to chose Honuman Tok.
This shrine in Sikkim is located 11 kms from Gangtok,on the road to another famous attraction, Tsomgo lake, Nathula. A visit to this place will make you feel spiritual; as soon as you ascend the stairs, a far distant prayer comes into sight and religious music is heard. The best part of it all, is the view one gets, which comprises a site of a small part of Gangtok town and the alluring neighbouring hills and valleys.
The legends has it, Hanuman flew down to this very spot to rest while flying with Sanjeevani (herb) Mountain from the Himalayas to Lanka to save Lord Rama's brother, Lakshman.

Hanuman temple is dedicated to lord Hanuman, and maintained by the Indian army. It was established in 1952. According to the locals, when Hanuman was flying to Dunagiri (mountain) which had the life saving herb Sanjeevani to save Lord Rama's brother Lakshmana, he rested in the spot for some time where his temple now lies.
But according to our guide, someone from the ministry had a dream about the same and that’s why the temple is here.
Anyway, the temple is a good spot to visit. Must take laddu parshad.

On a good clear day, you can see the Himalayas, esp Kanchenjhanga. We went around 11:15am in mid-March, and while you can see the mountains, it was too bright to get good photos. So maybe going between sunrise and 9am or around sunset would be a better idea.
For just Rs.10 per person entry fee, you can climb higher and get a better view. We carried our own binoculars. There's a guy who stands with a telescope/binoculars if you want closeup views.
While the viewpoint is great, businesses inside it make customer experience tiresome. I'm not saying people shouldn't make a living off the tourists, but a persistent sales pitch isn't something I enjoy.

In the heart of the Eastern Himalayas, where every twist in the road reveals a new facet of nature's grandeur, Tashi View Point emerges as a celestial balcony offering a panoramic spectacle that transcends the ordinary. My recent sojourn to this elevated sanctuary left me mesmerized, as Tashi View Point unfolded its treasures – a breathtaking vista of snow-clad peaks, lush valleys, and the serene charm of Sikkim's capital city, Gangtok.
Tashi View Point is renowned for its sunrise spectacle, and it certainly lives up to its reputation. As the first rays of the sun caress the peaks, the Himalayan giants blush in hues of pink and gold. The transition from darkness to light is a poetic dance that captivates the onlooker, and I found myself utterly immersed in this celestial performance. The tranquil valley below gradually awakens, revealing the patchwork of terraced fields and quaint Sikkimese settlements.
For enthusiasts of avian wonders, Tashi View Point offers a delightful surprise. The surrounding forests and hills are home to a variety of Himalayan birds, from colorful sunbirds to elusive eagles. The rhythmic chirping and melodious calls create a natural symphony that enhances the peaceful ambiance of the viewpoint. Birdwatchers can find solace in observing these winged inhabitants against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayas.
In conclusion, Tashi View Point in Sikkim is more than a mere viewpoint; it's a sanctuary of serenity and spectacle. The unparalleled views of the Himalayas, the cultural echoes, and the botanical richness make it a destination that transcends the boundaries of ordinary travel. Tashi View Point invites travelers to pause, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and immerse themselves in the timeless beauty of the Eastern Himalayas. It's a haven where nature's grandeur meets cultural richness, creating an experience that lingers in the heart long after the journey is over.

=> Along with best sunrise and sunset views, it is mostly known as one of the best view points of Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest mountain in the world.
=> It is located at a distance of around 10 km from the Gangtok city.
=> It was named after Tashi Namgyal, the former king of Sikkim between 1914 and 1963.
=> At the top, you will find a restaurant where you can try Momos and Maggie.
=> Since the view point is having limited space, it mostly remains very crowded during the day and hence it is advised to visit either in the early morning or at the time of sunset.
=> Activities that can be done here:
**Capture as many as photographs of yours surrounded by natural beauty;
**Get yourself clicked in a traditional Sikkimese attire;
**Enjoy the stunning view of Mount Sinilochu & Kanchenjunga, valley of North Sikkim and other snow capped peaks using telescopes;
**Stay there for a while, enjoy the ambience and the cool breeze;

Scenic beauty and clear view of himalayas if clouds are clear. But most of the time its foggy climate. This place is at some height from the road so view is clear and there is a snacks shop for some tea or coffee.

Tashi View Point offers breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including Kanchenjunga, which is the third-highest mountain in the world. This viewpoint is a popular destination for tourists and nature enthusiasts who want to witness the stunning beauty of the mountains.
The viewpoint is named after Tashi Namgyal, the former king of Sikkim, and it provides an excellent vantage point to capture the sunrise over the mountains. Early morning visits are especially rewarding for photographers and anyone seeking a serene and awe-inspiring experience.
The viewpoint is surrounded by lush forests, and the tranquility of the place makes it a great spot for meditation and quiet contemplation. Visitors can also find a small temple nearby, adding to the spiritual ambiance of the location.

Ganesh Tok is a small temple with viewpoint in Gangtok. Situated on top of a hill, the quaint place has mind-stirring views - the Kanchenjunga hill can be seen in its true form of glory from here and is at its best especially in the morning. The temple (dedicated to Lord Ganesh) is, however, so small that it can only fit one person at a time.
Colourful flags are tied across the stairs making it stand out. There is a place where shoes can be kept safe, and hands can be washed before entering the temple. There is also a lounge and a balcony in front of the temple which is the main attraction of the place.
Hanuman Tok, dedicated to Lord Hanuman is situated near Ganesh Tok at an altitude of 7200 feet and offers an amazing view of the Kanchenjunga range. The temple has a religious significance attached to it and offers a peaceful surrounding. It is known for fulfilling the wishes of its devotees. Ganesh Tok should definitely be visited at least once to experience its beauty and break away from the monotonous routine. It is a perfect place for all nature lovers and photographers.

Ganesh Tok is a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha at an uphill Gangtok. The temple was built in between 1952 and 1953. Here, apart from engaging in worship, one can have what is perhaps the best views of the city of Gangtok. The road to the temple is embellished with colourful prayer flags, and makes the journey much more pleasant.

Some of the rarest types of flowers are also showcased here. Though it is a small center it has varieties of flowers. This center also has different types of orchids too. This centre opens at 9 am in the morning. It remains open till 5 pm in the evening. Nominal entry fees has been charged. ₹20 per person. Once in a year they arrange an exhibition and many people around the country visit this centre. You can take a cab from Gangtok and it won’t take much time.

This is the venue of the acclaimed Sikkim Flower Show which showcases flowers from the different parts of Sikkim together under a single roof which makes it a heaven for all the nature lovers. It's located right across the White Memorial Hall and below the Ridge Park, it lies at a walking distance from the MG Marg. Inside the range is not vast but rather it has astonishing gathering of flowers of a wide range. If you have a thing for flowers, then this is the spot for you. Every single Flowering plant are marked with the goal that you know which is what. There is a little footbridge over a small artificial pool that you can stroll over. The spot is perfect for incredible photography amongst bright flowers and bushes.

Flower Exhibition Centre, which is situated in Gangtok, showcases flowers from the different parts of Sikkim together under a single roof which makes it a heaven for all the nature lovers. Located right across the White Memorial Hall and below the Ridge Park, it lies at a walking distance from the MG Marg. Though the flowers are displayed here all through the year, the annual flower show which is held from April to May should not be missed out on as during this time, the management gathers here and presents numerous varieties of orchids along with other flowers from around the state. Participants from the neighbouring states are invited to be a part of the annual flower contest held in the premises by the Government of Sikkim.
A medium-sized tropical greenhouse, the centre is filled with unusual species of plants including numerous species of fresh orchids namely Anthurium and Lilium. The presence of such different varieties of colourful flowers along with its enchanting fragrance fills up the entire centre making it a very refreshing place for the visitors. This lovely place is fantastic to spend time at just looking at the flowers and clicking pictures. In addition to all this, there is an artificial water pond along with a bridge constructed over it where the tourists can take a little stroll while enjoying the pleasant ambience around. One is likely to get amazing photographs amongst the colourful and bright bushes and flowers. This place is worth a visit if you are planning a trip to Gangtok for looking at the ever-smiling flowers is going to freshen you up entirely and brighten your day.
The ideal time to visit the Flower Exhibition Centre in Gangtok is from March and June when the orchids bloom fully and are showcased to the general public. Also, with the pleasant climate, it becomes an enjoyable trip.

Flower collection was very average at the time of my family visit there. Sikimeas dresses are available here for rent.Is a flat stretch of road exactly above Gangtok Town and if you’re into floriculture, an hour or two will pass by in the blink of an eye. Sikkim’s weather conditions are conducive to orchid cultivation and you will lose count of the number of varieties you spot at Ridge Park. A gazebo for travellers to rest while walking this stretch is a great addition for those simply wanting to get a feel of Gangtok.
The Annual Orchid Show takes place below the Ridge Park at the Flower Exhibition Centre (FEC). While the greenhouse might look modest in size, once you step in you are lost among a variety of colours. Flowers pop up in every nook and corner.

Extremely beautiful flowers on display here. Sikkim seems to have a LOT of vibrant flowers. The entry ticket costs just Rs.20 per person.

The 20 rupees admission goes towards entering a greenhouse with some selection of plants all for sale. You will be asked to buy plants before entering. The outside garden which looks like it would make the entrance worth it, is locked, however, you can see it for free by walking by. Save your money unless you plan to buy the plants from this location. There is no information, history, etc.

OMG, the sight itself is outstanding! First, there is this century-old teakwood house rearranged into Floral Culture. This beauty with the lush garden was inspired by the western influences at that time. So to speak colonial-style serves her well, with elegant balcony, big garden and direct approach to the canal. Back in time, the most important houses were situated near the canal However, the canal here is not in big, it still is. No matters how cool this house is, the real gem is at the back of the house – the garden.

Gorumara National Park is a vast floodplain and forest national park that covers an expansive area of almost 50 square miles. The park houses diverse wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, and leopards. For visitors looking to explore the park, it's recommended to opt for a jungle safari rather than a watch tower Safari. The best time for a jungle safari is during morning slots when chances of spotting an elephant are particularly high.
It's a bliss...endless stretch of greenery and the fresh air. The safari is a must-try here and one of the main attractions. There are 3 timings for safari: 6am,9am and 2pm. The early morning 6am slot timing is the best for safari. Tickets prices are: Rs.450 per head including a guide, plus another Rs.150 per vehicle entry fee. Each vehicle(top open gypsy jeeps) takes 4 passengers + 1 guide + 1 driver. You need to stand in line to get tickets and don't forget to take a xerox of your Aadhar card/other govt. id. There is a huge rush, so reach way before the timing and get a spot in the line(they have about 20 vehicles going per slot). The ticket counter is about 1km from Lake View Resort towards the market. Even if spotting a few animals here depends on luck, missing the wild experience would be a big mistake. There are 25 different kinds of orchids found here apart from many other trees worth watching. Amidst the forests, there are 2 tribal villages here. The roads running through the dense green forest on either side and the never-ending flow of cold breeze is perfect for any nature lover. It purifies your soul. A must-visit place for anyone willing to get a blend of little altitude, forest, small rivers and quiet, peaceful surroundings in the lap of nature.

We couldn't spot any animal except some birds ( Hornbill and peacock). Although my expectations were not satisfied, the overall experience was good.

"Absolutely mesmerizing experience at Gorumara Tiger Reserve! From the moment you enter, the dense forest embraces you, with picturesque tea farms on your left, setting the perfect scene for adventure. The thrill of encountering elephants is unmatched, and the observation points offer blissful moments for photographers and sightseers alike. It truly feels like stepping into a dreamful spot where nature's wonders unfold before your eyes. An amazing experience that left me in awe of the beauty of our natural world!

Gorumara National Park is one of the most dense forests of West Bengal. Sometimes I felt it denser than Jaldapara. It’s a big forest with a huge variety of wild animals and a number of plants. The main attraction of Gorumara National Park is the Jeep Safari from NIC Lataguri to Jatraprasad Watch Tower. The best timing for the Jeep Safari is 3:30 PM to 5 PM because this time there is much possibility to find wild animals especially Elephant, Peacocks and Deers. The Rhino is also a main attraction of this place. In the evening time you can feel the silence of deep forest which can’t be felt in the morning or afternoon. Online booking is available at West Bengal Forest Department Website. You can book the Safari online and enjoy the wildlife beauty.

It's all about luck here. If luck favours you, you can behold the sight of the Indian elephants, barking deers, peacocks and the Indian Rhino. The guides are very skilled and can spot them at one go. Gorumara National Park is in Northern West Bengal, India. Located in Dooars region (foothills of Himalaya). It is a small forest preliminary habitat of Indian rhinoceros. Apart from this it has got varieties of elephant, bison, leopards, wild cats and birds. Also so many insects.
Lovely place to visit with friends and family during weekends. This park has safari timings at both morning and evening for very less number of tourists. Therefore, getting a chance to have safari inside the jungle is really wonderful experience.

Recently we have visited this National Forest. We booked our safari car from the gate of Murti Banani Resort. There is a hike in the tariff has been observed for the jeep safari. We took the safari in the afternoon at 3:30 PM.
We found peacock, elephants, bison & dears during our safari. But, most importantly it was the vibes of the jungle that we enjoyed most. It was really a dense jungle & certainly well maintained by the authority.

Nature at its best. Preferably stay st Kalipur Eco Village run by Forest Department. They only have four trees houses in the property amidst tree garden and jungle. Stay itself is thrilling. Food is basic but tasty, special mention Mr Biswanath who always there to take care of you. Don't expect any luxury, everything is basic, just enjoy the nature. Ample car parking space. You can also enjoy tribal dance in the evening.

Very good place for a short trip. Peaceful and serene environment. Safari can be booked online. The photos attached are from the jatraprasad watchtower safari. The animals we saw: Indian Gaur, wild boar, Rhinos, sambar deer, lots of Birds. There are lots of places to stay but wbfdc and wbtdcl cottage and resorts are best. We visited twice- stayed at Banani Murti resort by wbtdcl and Gorumara Elephant Camp by Wbfdc. Had different but both good experiences.

It’s located next to Kalimpong city. I stayed one night in the guest house, with gst one room costs around 4000rs . Rooms has a good feeling, wall , floor all has wooden finish. Restaurant is there , but you have to order before what you want to have( choices are few). As I stayed there , that particular night I was the only person staying in that guest house other than one old couple in one room and one cook and caretaker. As soon as night appears , a bit haunted feeling comes . I tried to go to the pine garden but an owl or some animal shouted so loud I changed my mind instantly. But I must say you must stay at least one night in the guest house to experience the awesome feeling. A lot of homestays are there with a cheaper price. But it has another satisfaction if you stay one night there. A lot of things are there in the park , horse riding, and other activities. Next to the parks gate paragliding counters are there. 3500 rs per person if you want to do paragliding.

Also known as Delo Hills, this is one of the places that is sure to take your breath away with its sheer beauty. A pathway which leads all across a huge garden, home to thousands of flora and fauna. While the slightly uphill walk can tire you out, when you reach the top, the viewing points will more than make up for the effort. Also available are small souvenir shops and horse riding for the adventurous. To truly admire every nook and cranny of the park is an hour long venture, but we definitely loved the half an hour we were there. Don't miss the "I Love Kalimpong" sign board right at the middle of the park - a great spot to take pictures.

A good place for recreation and an awesome Kanchenjunga view, if the sky remains clear. Wandering through the enchanting wonderland of diverse cactus and succulent varieties was a botanical adventure like no other. The vast array of large cacti and succulents, most of which were previously unknown to me, added an element of delightful surprise to the experience. Each plant seemed to tell a unique story, creating an immersive journey for anyone with an appreciation for the intricate beauty of nature.
If you're a plant enthusiast or simply curious about the fascinating world of succulents, this destination is an absolute must-visit. The botanical collection here is not just a garden; it's a living tapestry of nature's creativity, showcasing the stunning diversity within the cactus and succulent families.
On the flip side, my only gripe was the price tag on the food and drinks – a bit on the steeper side. Despite that, the botanical bliss made the visit totally worthwhile! 🌵🌿

The ancient capital of Sikkim has a ruin of an old castle. One has to hike through the jungle path for about 700mtr to reach this site. The view from the top is breathtaking. With a 270° view of mountain ranges and far away towns looking like toy buildings this site is worth exploring.

A place meant for history buffs and nature lovers, and, just no one else. The trail leading to the actual site is a trek of about 700-800 metre. But the view over there is fantastic and makes you forget the effort (only if you are into history). The trail on the other hand is full of nature and it passes via a bird park (which was closed for restoration at the time of my visit). A must visit if you are going to Pelling. It makes you understand the strategic importance of Sikkim’s ancient capital. The panoramic view at the highest point of the ruins is just beautiful, to say the least.

This is a Historical Place to visit, this place is inside the Bird Park.
You can enjoy trekking if you like, the way length is about 800-900 meters inclined.
To motivate you to climb to this place, they have put a board sign in the way.
Once you reach the actual place you forget the climb and you can enjoy the view from there.
People of Sikkim Worship this place.
The view is so beautiful from there.
They have maintained the place quite well.

No entry fee for ruins trek and ruins visit. Entry fee is applicable only for the bird park.
Bird park was closed in May 2022.
The trek is awesome, and offers great forest trail walk, the trek is just ~750 mtr. Not much.
Great views with green ruins.
Washrooms are available at ruins. Light snacks and souvenirs are available at the entry gate.
Must visit place. Total travel time ~2 hrs for to and fro trek and spending some time at ruins.

Needs a lot of walking on a jungle type of track to reach the place- approx. 1.5 km of upward tracking. No sitting benches/ washrooms in between the entire track. People with difficulty in walking are advised to avoid the place.
The place has bird park also which is under maintenance as on 11 Nov 2021 & not open for public. Washrooms near to the ruins are dirty and to be avoided if possible.

This historical site is located inside the Bird Park and is worth visiting.
Trekking is possible; the route is 800-900 metres long and slightly slope.
They have placed a board sign in your path in order to encourage you to ascend to this location.
As soon as you arrive at the destination, the climb is forgotten and you can relax and take in the scenery.

Visited in May 2023. Amazing trek, picturesque architecture and ruins, beautiful hues and views.
The place has an amazing 2km trek passing through jungle before actually reaching the ruins. The trek is extremely beautiful. We experienced bit of light rainfall and the entire trek was filled with clouds. The trek leads to the ruins. This is a nice place for architecture photography. The ruins also offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and trees. This place is surely worth the visit.
Also note, there's a bird park as well here called Sidekeong Tulku Bird Park. The entry for the bird park is same however, once you enter, the trek is different and there are clear demarcations for the same. There's a separate review for the same.
We went during peak tourist season. Though the place was crowded but it was manageable. Parking shouldn't be an issue. There is a cafe inside which is the only option for food here and it's really bad. If you can carry your own food, it will be good.
Anshul Mittal — Google review
They've done a nice job preserving these ruins. Lovely garden and great views make for a relaxing walk around these ruins.
You have to walk here from the bird park, which is a very nice walk through the jungle. I'll note though it's a shame that locals chop down trees in this jungle for wood, they've really thinned the jungle. They should probably do this away from the tourist sites at they're causing damage to the sights the tourists come to see.
Anywho, I digress, the ruins are well with a visit, even if you're not into ruins it's a lovely walk and has great views.

In the western part of Sikkim are the ruins of a once glorious city, the place called Rabdentse Ruins. Ruins of Rabdentse is an archaeological site of Sikkim which tells the story of Sikkim's glory. Rabdentse was the second capital of Sikkim from 1670 to 1814. The first Chogyal of Sikkim was founded by Tensung Namgyal, son of Phunstog Namgyal, and was the second oldest capital city of Sikkim for more than a century.
The palace and monastery complex were destroyed by the Nepali invasion in the 18th century and the area is reduced to rubble. Video and photography are allowed here, but drones are not allowed. And the only problem is that there was no indication on the whole road when we went. So there may be a chance of getting lost on the road. And the forest of chestnut trees on both sides of the road.

Sikkim is a place where nature always comes before the ruins. But here history speaks it's story in sadness and beauty. The stones of the ruins speaks of it's destruction in the hands of invaders. It speaks the glory that was Sikkim them.
The walk to the spot is definitely a bonus to many nature lovers and off course the grand view points to gape at.
This is a must visit place in Pelling.

There is no need for tickets for the Ruins. However if you want to visit the Bird Park beside it then the entry ticket is 100 per head. To reach the Ruins , the hike from the main gate is around 20 mins through the forest. The hike itself is an adventure.
Rabdentse was the second capital of the kingdom of Sikkim after Yuksom which was the first. The city was destroyed by the Gurkha army. The ruins now holds the walls , the chortens and the religious sites of the Buddhists.
The place is very peaceful and you can sit and spend an entire day here in solitude. The place gives grand 360 view of The Kachendzonga range and the city of pelling.

Upon arriving at Rabdanse Ruins in Sikkim, the air was filled with an ancient charm, as if the stones whispered tales of a bygone era. The intricate carvings and remnants of a once-thriving civilization offered a captivating glimpse into the region's rich history. This place has the ruins of a palace and worshipping place.

It is one of the oldest and premier monasteries of Sikkim in 1647, also the most famous in Sikkim. The monastery attends to the Nyingma Order (oldest one of the four schools) of Tibetan Buddhism. Summers are quite pleasant to enjoy the surroundings the area has to offer although winters can get pretty chilly during the months from October To February. It is a wonderful sight to experience the glory with which the Tibetan festivals are celebrated here.

It's one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim. It's quite beautiful inside out. There is a museum in the upper floor which is open for visitors and it displays some of 17-18th century items from old cutlery sets to the then silk costumes. It also has an antique and beautiful wooden craft which is few centuries old.
The whole premise is very clean and peaceful with beautiful garden outside. Photography is restricted inside the monastery but is allowed outside. Every bit of the structure of the monastery is rich in artistic value. This is a must visit in Peling.

Pemayangtse means "Perfect Sublime Lotus", and is said to represent one of the four plexus of the human body. The Pemayangtse Monastery is part of Buddhist religious pilgrimage circuit starting with the first monastery at Yuksom known as the Dubdi Monastery, followed by Norbugang Chorten, Tashiding Monastery, the Rabdentse ruins, the Sanga Choeling Monastery, and the Khecheopalri Lake.
The monastery was built for "pure monks" (ta-tshang) meaning "monks of pure lineage", celibate and without any physical abnormality. This practice is still retained. Only the monks of Pemayangtse Monastery are entitled to the title "ta-tshang". The head lama of this monastery had the unique privilege of anointing the Chogyals of the erstwhile monarchy of Sikkim with holy water.

Visitors can enjoy the sunrise here from early morning until sunset, but be advised that it can be quite cold up at the hill so those who are not used to the cold should prepare themselves accordingly.

On the 17th November morning, at 4 AM, we set out for Tiger Hills. The usually sleepy town of Darjeeling was surprisingly up & about at this unearthly hour with hundreds of cars heading the same way, so much so, that we actually encountered traffic snarl-ups at that time.
The driver left us at a point from which we had to walk for about 5 minutes on a rather steep slope. We could have driven up further but then, extracting ourselves from the parking chaos would have been very difficult.
There is a building to your right, as you approach the viewing point. This is an unfinished building - 4 stories - but the viewing balconies have been set up by local entrepreneurs in the first two levels, complete with plastic chairs rented out ₹ 50 per chair.
It's a long wait so we availed of the chairs and took our places facing East. Now, remember, you are not going there to see ONLY the sunrise but ALSO the snow-capped peaks changing hues as the sun shows it's face. Therefore, you need to keep an eye to your left as well, the North, where the peaks are. Try and sit as close to the NE corner of the viewing 'gallery' as you can for the best of both views.
In the attached photos I have tried to capture how the skies AND the mountains change colour with the rising sun but nothing can possibly replicate what one's eyes behold.
Getting back is a nightmare. There are nearly 700-800 cars, a thousand odd pedestrians trying to reach their respective vehicles and all within a pretty narrow road with a fairly steep slope.
Overall, it was an amazing experience. Very cold, very steep climb, rather poor infrastructure (for viewing) but Nature has made up for all man's lacunae!

The best view in Tiger Hill in West Bengal is the one that shows the **sunrise over the Himalayan peaks** of Everest and Kanchenjunga. You can see the changing colors of the sky and the mountains as the sun rays hit them. It is a mesmerizing sight that attracts many tourists and photographers.
However, to enjoy this view, you need to reach Tiger Hill very early in the morning, preferably before 4:30 am, as it gets crowded and foggy later.
If you want to avoid the crowd and the cold, you can also visit Tiger Hill in the evening, when you can see the **sunset over the valley** and the town of Darjeeling. You can also enjoy a walk through the bamboo and pine forest on your way to Tiger Hill.
The best time to visit Tiger Hill depends on the weather condition and your preference. If you want to see the **snow-covered mountains** in their full glory, then the period from **mid-October to December** would be ideal. However, if you want to avoid the cold and enjoy a clear sky, then the period from **March to May** would be better⁴⁵. January and February are mostly foggy and have less visibility⁴.
You should also plan to visit Tiger Hill early in the morning, preferably before sunrise, to catch the spectacular view of the sun rays hitting the peaks of Everest and Kanchenjunga. You might need to book a jeep or a taxi in advance to reach there on time, as it is a popular tourist attraction.

The sunrise time may vary from season to season but the common thing is rising sun focusing it's rays on the Kanchenjunga hills just opposite to it. After getting sun rays, the snow on the hills glitter into golden colour and that is the perfect moment to capture for a unforgettable memory. The best time to visit this place is during winter season.
There is a good sitting arrangement but in order to get a perfect site seeing you need to come to this place before 2 hours of sunrise. Many vendors are available here selling refreshing items at your seat.

A breathtaking sunrise experience at Tiger Hill, Darjeeling
Tiger Hill, perched atop Darjeeling, is not just a viewpoint; it's an experience. As the first rays of dawn paint the majestic peaks of Mt. Everest and Kangchenjunga in hues of gold and orange, you'll witness a spectacle that will leave you speechless. The sight of the snow-capped Himalayas emerging from the clouds, casting their shadows on the valleys below, is a memory that will stay with you forever.
More than just a sunrise:
While the sunrise is undoubtedly the main draw, Tiger Hill offers much more. The panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys are stunning, and the cool morning air is invigorating. You can also take a walk along the nature trails or visit the nearby Ghoom Monastery.
Tips for your visit:
Arrive early! The crowds can get quite large, especially during peak season.
Dress warmly, as the temperature can drop significantly before sunrise.
Overall, Tiger Hill is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Darjeeling. It's an experience that you won't forget!

A must-visit place in Darjeeling. You will get an amazing view of the mountain Kanchenjunga and a glimpse of Mt. Everest.
The drive from Darjeeling would approximately take an hour. Ensure to reach the spot by 5 AM to get parking and grab the best place for a serene view of the sunrise.
If there is a delay in reaching the spot, it will be a hassle to find the parking, and you will have to park the vehicle 500 meters away from the view point.
You will have to take a stroll to reach the view point, as the walk is steep.
Do not forget to carry your winter gear.

Tiger Hill is famous for it's Scintillating views of tue himalayan mountain range. However, we couldn't get the view of the same as it was a very foggy day. The forest areas are quite dense, and this location has been used for shooting a lot of movies and series. Overall, it is a good place and worth visiting.

Mayfair Darjeeling is a 5-star luxury resort hotel in Darjeeling, considered one of the best places to stay in the Himalayas. With its opulent architecture and lush surroundings, this iconic hotel is perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway, busy business travelers looking for an efficient base camp, or families with children seeking a safe and fun playground.
This hotel is hands down the best place to stay in Darjeeling, such lovely view from the room. Love their vintage and english type of interior. My room had a fire place which was so amazing. About a km away from the main market which is walkable. Staff are also humble and attentive. Food was amazing, i would love to come and stay here again.

We stayed in the Campbell room. Beautifully appointed, cozy rooms.. a bit of a concern would be that these rooms may get very hot and stuffy during the summers (as temperatures nowadays are increasing to new highs). They have provided fans but if temperatures keep increasing that may not suffice.
The rooms are very well decorated and they provide a wide range of teas, coffee, sodas, and snacks for the guests. I really appreciated how generous they are and the fact that they provide glass bottles for water.
The hotel is gorgeous with lovely flowers all over the place. It's quiet (opposite the Governor's House) and a great place to see Darjeeling the way it used to be decades ago.
It's a bright and colourful spot that is an easy 10 minute stroll away from the main Chowrasta at the Mall. There are viewpoints a minutes walk away and you can sit there and enjoy the mountain views and the elusive Kanchenjunga (if you visit in June).
Their restaurant is fantastic with wide variety, great food, and excellent service.
The management has done an amazing job with the way they have maintained the place and the way they make every guest's stay so comfortable... Would love to visit again!

1. Hotel rooms were spacious.
2. Staff was polite and courteous.
3. Best part was breakfast that was actually buffet so variety was there and tasty as well.
4. For dinner and lunch, we’re fine but costly. If your going out then you will find more options with lesser price.
5. Safe place for family.
Sone cons:
Space for sitting inside hotel premises is less and not in order as it should be.

Awesome place. My family had a long stay here and honestly speaking we enjoyed every moment spent in this hotel. The looks, the ambiance, staff, the location, the food, rooms, infrastructure, amenities, you name it and it was top class. The hospitality was superlative and this is one place I would recommend not only in Darjeeling but also in every part of the country wherever you can. It was a shame we couldn't book Mayfair while we were in Gangtok.

The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute provides a number of courses for aspiring mountaineers, including training to equip them for the challenges of scaling some of the world's highest peaks. This institute is situated in a beautiful location, and its scenic backdrop makes it one of the most popular attractions in Darjeeling.
I will absolutely recommend this place for every tourist who visits Darjeeling. This place gives you a different energy that inspires you to be great. They have place for rock climbing, wall climbing, zip lining for everyone. The mountaineering institution and zoological garden are just in the same place. Definitely visit the museum which is totally worthwhile. Get to know many information about mountaineers, their journeys and equipments and so on.

No visit to Darjeeling can be complete without a visit to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Importantly it is in the same entrance to the Zoo and therefore its 2 birds with one stone. Nevertheless, it would be smart to
take out at least a couple of hours to cover this place. About 1 hour 15 mins to buy tickets and experience and also learn a bit of Wall climbing, Rock climbing, zip climbing etc. The remaining 45 mins to cover the
beautiful museum. Well for tourists who absolutely hate a museum they can also spend some time as it provides insights of the mountaineering gears, various expeditions taken by this institute and terrains of the
Himalaya shown in amazing details. There is also a memorial of Padma Bhushan Tenzing Norgay that should not be missed out. I would also recommend the Mountaineering and Adventure film show that costs Rs30/-
per person. The show timings are 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM and 4 PM. There is also a very nice Souvenir shop in front of the Museum and it has fantastic collections to take back home. Do give it a try too

The Peace Pagoda, also known as the Jalapahar Temple, is a Buddhist temple located in Darjeeling, India. Constructed in the 1970s, it is one of 70+ pagodas that Nipponzan Myohoji (NM) built around the world. At the time of puja sessions held near by, visitors are provided with a hand drum and encouraged to become involved in the rituals.
I had an opportunity to visit Japanese Peace Pagoda in Darjeeling and was absolutely captivated by the peaceful and serene atmosphere of the location. The monastery was nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, and the views of the surrounding mountains were absolutely breathtaking.
As I entered the monastery grounds, I was immediately struck by the sense of calm and tranquility that seemed to pervade the air. The buildings were simple and unadorned, with a focus on functionality rather than aesthetics. The monks who lived and worked at the monastery were all dressed in traditional robes, and they moved about their tasks with a sense of purpose and devotion.
As I explored the monastery, I was struck by the sense of community and connection that seemed to pervade the air. The monks were all very welcoming and seemed to genuinely enjoy answering my questions about their way of life. I was also impressed by the sense of purpose and discipline that seemed to be a part of daily life at the monastery. The monks followed a strict schedule that included meditation, prayer, and study, and I could see how this structured way of life might be very conducive to spiritual growth.
Overall, my visit to the Buddhist monastery in Darjeeling was a truly enriching and memorable experience. The natural beauty of the location, combined with the peaceful and serene atmosphere of the monastery, made for a truly one-of-a-kind experience. If you have the opportunity to visit a Buddhist monastery, I highly recommend it - you will not be disappointed.

The beautiful Buddhist monastery and Peace Pagoda is located near the top of the Jalapahar Hill, about 2 km from the Darjeeling Clock Tower.
We are lucky that it was open while our stay in Darjeeling in first week of October.
The pagoda had beautiful gold plated sculptures of the Buddha in various postures and murals depicting some of the events in his life.
Mesmerizing view, serene peace and awesome place with tall pine trees and rhododendron bushes just beginning to flower, and with the majestic Kanchenjunga mountains as the backdrop. A must visit place in Darjeeling.
What really enhances this place, and adds joy, is in the upper prayer hall of the nearby temple building. If you are lucky your visit will coincide with the chanting of prayers, and drumming.

Very cheap, if you know the place and people. If you want to go by car, book Land rover car from the ticket counter. It will be very cheap for you. PLEASE don't allow the "Tour Guide" book the Hotels and Cars, they will charge double.
The Guide will Hotels are not available/cars etc... Just to fill up their pockets. Always book cars and hotels by yourself. Don't go for so called guides (dalals).
People are very nice and helpful over there.. I've been to this place two times.

One of the most beautiful place I have ever visited. I was there in the month of February 2024. It was a bit off season and at night temperature was around -5 degree. Hotel sunrise is one of the choices for staying there. But when I stayed there , there was no electricity, so as usual there was no room heater or anything to keep us warm, so in that climate condition it was a bit difficult for all the travellers. Even glass windows were
frozen inside the room. But the very next day when we saw the clear sky and the beautiful sunrise , all our exhaustion had turned into joy and happiness.you can visit the place either by hiking or by car , you can reach to Manibhanjan from NJP , from Manibhanjan you can hire a guide if you want to reach the place by trekking,it’s a 4 days trek only for sandakphu , and if you want to cover Phalut , then it’s a 5 days trek. Another option is you can take the legendary Land Rover or Mahindra Marshal kind of jeeps to reach there. If the sky is clear then you can see the most mesmerising view of Kanchanjunga range. I am sharing some photos from my gallery. Keep travelling keep knowing the u know.

Sandakphu or Sandakpur (3636 m; 11,930 ft) is a mountain peak in the Singalila Ridge on the border between India and Nepal. It is the highest point of the ridge and of the state of West Bengal, India. The peak is located at the edge of the Singalila National Park and has a small village on the summit with a few hotels. Four of the five highest peaks in the world, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu can be seen from its summit. It also affords a pristine view of the entire Kangchenjunga Range. Sandakphu is also known as the land of poisonous flowers.
The trek along the Singalila Ridge to Sandakphu and Phalut is one of the most popular in the Eastern Himalayas, owing not only to the stupendous vistas of the Kangchenjunga and Everest ranges which it affords, but also to its seasonal wildflowers and opportunities for birdwatching. Treks begin at Manebhanjan which is 28 km (approx. 1 hour by road) from Darjeeling.
The western part of Sandakphu peak is located in Sandakpur rural municipality (ward no. 2 & 4) of Ilam District of Province No. 1.
The trekking starts from Ilam Bazar via Maipokhari, Maimajhuwa, Mabu, Kala Pokhri Bikhe Bhyanjyang to Sandakpur, and also from Ilam Bazar via Sulubung, Jamuna, Hangetham (a special area for birds such as the spiny babbler and blue tit), Piple, Kalipokhari, Bikhe Vanjyang to Sandakpur. On this trekking route, Jamuna is most valuable for trekkers. There are many beautiful places like Dhap Pokhari, Choyatar (special area for red pandas). There is a three jungle Hile Samudayik Ban, Choyatar Samudayik Ban, Hangetham Samudayik Ban.

We visited there in April. Don't think this is a hill station like Darjeeling, if weather isn't in favor this could be a bit dangerous. In case of snow fall you might have to walk for 4kms or more to reach the hotels and the road is really steep. I personally would not recommend for elderly person or who are not physically fit.
Didn't get view of the mountains because of the snowfall. But that view also have it's own beauty. Though we had some bitter experience with the hotel and driver, we will go there again, just because of the beautiful view. If weather in favor, should also visit Falut.
Some points I think everyone should know highlighted below
Pros :
1. From manebhanjan to sandakphu, the whole route have great scenic beauty.
2. Must visit the monestry, tumling, kalipokhri etc points...they have different vibes..
3. Heavenly view of Sleeping Buddha, Mt. Everest and other snow capped peaks.
Cons :
1. Unpredictable weather. Be prepared for rain or snowfall..It's better to use waterproof trekking shows, pants, jackets.
2. Mobile networks will not be available after some point.
3. Its a bit remote area, so carry things like medicine, water with you. Here some people might have mild breathing problem at night..so keep necessary things with you.
4. Lastly, we have met some good people there who helped us, but there are people because of whom we suffered a bit and refused to help at all. So keep in mind you are on your own

Janaki Temple, also known as Janaki Mandir, is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site located in Janakpur, Nepal. This grand marble temple is built in an extravagant Mughal style and is dedicated to the goddess Sita, the wife of Rama from the epic Ramayana. It is believed to stand on the spot where King Janak discovered the infant Sita.
I visited the temple recently and it was such a gem of a place. It was serene, spacious, peaceful, full of vibrant details and religious ambiance. It was an opportunity of a lifetime to see such a significant place in the Hindu religion. The whole city was a nice change. I liked every bit of the temple. I recently visited the Janaki Temple, it is also known as Nau Lakha Mandir by the local people, and it was an absolute treasure. It was calm, luminous, and quiet, with bright details and a holy atmosphere. Seeing such a major spot in Hinduism was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The entire city was a pleasant contrast. Every aspect of the temple fascinated to me. People of different ages, countries, and origins came to witness the temple's beauty and splendour. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone interested in exploring holy sites and studying their architecture.
This majestic temple is devoted to the Hindu goddess Sita, Lord Rama's wife, and is one of the most prominent shrines in Nepal.
The temple is a stunning example of historic Mughal and Rajput architecture, with elaborate carvings, complex artwork, and vivid colours that reflect Nepal's rich cultural in the past. The temple's outside is embellished with stunning carvings and statues of Hindu deities, while the interior is a sight to behold, with elaborate designs, colourful murals, and a tranquil ambiance that makes it a wonderful spot for meditation and prayer.
Visitors to Janaki Mandir will also appreciate the temple's historical significance, as it is thought to be the birthplace of Sita. The temple compound features a sacred pond known as Dhanush Sagar, where Lord Rama is claimed to have broken the holy bow to win Sita's hand in marriage.
Overall, Janaki Mandir is a must-see for anyone visiting Janakpur or Nepal in general. Its spectacular architecture, historical relevance, and cultural value combine to provide a genuinely one-of-a-kind and a lifetime memory. So, whether you're a Hindu fanatic or simply enjoy the beauty of ancient architecture, be sure to include Janaki Mandir on your plans.

Janaki Mandir (Nepali: जानकी मन्दिर) is a Hindu temple in Janakpurdham, Nepal, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Sita. It is an example of mixed Mosque Gumbad and Temple. Made by mughal architecter Hindu Maithil architecture.[1] Fully built in bright white and constructed in an area of 1,480 square metres (15,930 sq. feet) in the Mithila Kingdom, it is a three-storied structure made entirely of stone and marble.
The walls of the temple have beautiful Mithila (Madhubani) paintings. All its 60 rooms are decorated with the flag of Nepal, coloured glass, engravings, and paintings, with beautiful lattice windows and turrets. According to legends and epics, King Janak ruled Videha Kingdom from this part of Janakpur during the Ramayana period. His daughter Janaki (Sita), during her swayambar (marriage), had chosen Lord Rama as her husband and become the queen of Ayodhya. Their marriage ceremony had occurred in the nearby temple, which is also called vivaha mandap near the temple itself that was later reconstructed by Amar Singh Thapa. The site was designated as a UNESCO tentative site in 2008.

The Golghar, an impressive granary built by the British army in 1786, serves as a historical landmark in Patna. It is being restored in 2018 to prevent famine like the one that occurred in 1770. The carved sign on one side reads 'For the perpetual prevention of famine in these provinces.' The Golghar provides sweeping views of the city and is a must-see attraction for both locals and tourists.
On 11 January 2024 i visited Bihar's stately heritage Golghar which is located west part of Gandhi maidan, Patna (the capital city of Bihar state) , India. Golghar is one of the largest granary in round shape which is symbolised as a stupas, it is on 2.5 km from patna junction and it takes around 25 to 30 minutes through walk and nearly 10 minutes through public transports.
History
The purpose of construction of Golghar comes after the Bengal great famine 1770 which spread throughout contemporary Bihar (that time part of Bengal, British India) in this disaster approximately seven to ten million people died, to avoid this kind of massive famine again British India company decided to build Granary where grains can be stored for future survival later, the beehive or stupas - shaped structure was introduced by captain John Garstin he was an engineer of the East India company's Bengal army and construction was completed on 20 July 1786.
The construction of Golghar was a part of a general plan for the everlasting prevention of famine in these provinces. (contemporary Bihar) However, the full capacity of grains could never filled inside the storage because Some visitors have claimed that the reason for this is designed of the structure whereby the doors are designed to open inwards; thus, if it is filled to its maximum capacity, then the doors will not open. Bihar Tourism should make a note of this. Such a beautiful historic site is going in ruins. The site is not maintained at all, with broken sinks, disposed off coolers, dried up pool and fountains this place is an absolute turn off. All I could only see couples in masks using this site as a cheap getaway. Please for the sake of history do something starting with increasing the ticket prices from historic Rs 10.

During the Gupta Dynasty grains were stored in this huge granary. This is historical place located to the west of the Gandhi Maidan in Patna, capital of Bihar state, India. Visitors cant climb to the top because of permission denied.
While we went to see the ruins of Nalanda we were also fascinated by the granary. At the top you can view entire Patna city.

Golghar, completed in 1786 during the British East India Company's rule, was commissioned by Captain John Garstin. The granary was constructed in response to the devastating famine of 1770, with the intent of creating a storage facility capable of withstanding natural disasters and ensuring food security for the region.
Golghar's architecture is a marvel of its time. The structure, resembling a beehive, is made of brick and mortar and stands at a height of 29 meters. The design incorporates a unique spiral staircase that ascends around the exterior, leading to a panoramic viewing platform at the top.
The primary purpose of Golghar was to store grain for the British Army and mitigate the impact of famines. The design, with its thick walls and ventilators, aimed to prevent the spoilage of stored grains by maintaining a cool interior. The strategic location near the Ganges River facilitated easy transportation of grain by boat.
For tourists and history enthusiasts, Golghar offers a captivating journey into the historical narrative of Bihar. The guided tours and informative displays within the structure provide insights into its construction, purpose, and the historical context in which it emerged. The panoramic views from the top make the visit both educational and visually rewarding.
Golghar in Bihar is not just a granary; it is a living testament to the resilience of communities in the face of historical challenges. My visit to this historical monument was an enlightening experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone eager to explore the intersection of history, architecture, and the societal impact of such monumental structures.

This temple is run by a trust which use money of the temple in the development for example they have hospital etc.
This is the most important site for hindu. There is shoe counter outside the temple which is free of cost.
Must try Navedam sweet which is made up of pure ghee and dry fruits.
After hanuman darshan must see the stone on the 1st floor which keep floating in water.
