The new location is stunning!!
You definitely need to come see this place and experience this piece of Canadian history as it’s brought to life with this amazing museum and its beautiful exhibits.
And the silver bean café in the same building is fantastic. You can enjoy delicious treats and really nice local high-quality coffee and their famous strawberry lemonade for a great price.

First time visiting the Canadian Canoe Muesum in Peterborough. I found it very informative and interactive. Lots of items to see and work with. Worth visiting the workshop as well. Any of the staff we talk to were quite helpful. Definitely take the time if you're ever in the area and go to the Muesum. You will not be disappointed! ☺👍☝☝

It's quite an amazing new facility that just opened on May 12, 2024. You can see the history of Canada through many of the old canoes.

Pretty niche museum but as a someone who does a lot of canoe camping it was cool to see how the technology and designs have developed over the years. There is also some great info on how Canoes were used commercially back in the day which we found interesting.
We didnt know they still had a mask wearing policy. They gave kn95 masks to walk through which I know a lot of people dont like. Id consider bringing your own mask.
John James — Google review
Never really knew that canoes had such a huge contribution to what we are today!
Must visit this museum at least once. It's so informative, will definitely widen your perspective.
The whole place is beautifully maintained with staff who have a very good knowledge on the subject. Each & every object has detailed information and explains the historical impact & importance.
Being an immigrant myself, this place helped me gain so much knowledge about Canadian history. Definitely worth the time for people all ages.
Their is also a memoir shop inside with things such as miniature canoes, books & magazines, collectables, t-shirts and so on.
Price for an adult is $14 but you can avail a discount if you're a student. My friends definitely did. We paid $28 for the three of us.
Totally worth it!

The fact that this museum was only about canoes and nothing else made it a kind of boring and after a while you have the feeling of already having seen everything already. On the other hand it's an awesome service to get in for free on thursdays and the souvenir shop has many things to offer! I think I actually spent more time in there than in the museum itself.

The Canadian Canoe Museum presents how indigenous peoples and their creation of canoes and kayaks allowed this country to be discovered, mapped, goods transported and communities built. The Hudson Bay company giant transport canoes were mind-boggling!
The display on recreational canoeing (and sail canoes!) was great. It was and is a way to see this magnificent country from angles it could not otherwise be seen.
The differing styles of dugout, birch bark and wooden strip & plank canoes and seal skin kayaks was amazing. I especially appreciated the extensive information on how different indigenous communities shaped them differently to suit the kind of water they were dealing with.
It is also the story of the passion and vision of people who collected & preserved this important part of our history.
The gift shop is also wonderful and I bought several gifts - and a comfy Canadian-made sweatshirt for myself. The volunteers were extremely helpful & COVID-19 protocols carefully observed.
It was a wonderful outing for myself and my niece. She actually got married there a few years ago. I recommend it if you are in Peterborough.

The Canadian Canoe Museum is awesome! Anyone who has a love for canoeing will enjoy this museum. They have a very impressive collection of canoes. My favourites were Bill Mason's, Pierre Trudeau's, Gordon Lightfoot's, The royal family, and The Starkell's canoes! I will be returning for another visit once the museum moves to the new location on the river. The current building looks a little depressing from the outside but once you get inside you realize how amazing this place is. The only complaint I have is that while I was there, the Gordon Lightfoot plaque with the music wasn't working, so I couldn't hear what the song Canary Yellow Canoe sounds like. This song is hard to find because it is not on Youtube or Spotify or anywhere else on the internet and the only way to hear it is by buying the 4 CD box set that costs $55!. Hopefully they get the speakers fixed soon. When we arrived the person at the front desk gave us a great introduction and he was very excited to see us. We also had the whole museum to ourselves as we were the first to arrive all day. Other people did show up throughout the day. I hope you enjoy the museum as much as I did!

Amazing place. Great displays and the historic canoes and kayaks were fascinating. Just loved the bark canoes

This is a great museum of canoes and kayaks. The self guided tour takes you through the history of these water crafts. There is a nice gift shop as well.

The history of indigenous culture was quite interesting and educational. A must see

Amazing museum! The amount of information to learn is great for the avid learner while it can also be consumed in bite sized chunks if necessary.
Highly recommend a stop here if visiting the Peterborough area or Southern Ontario.

The Trent-Severn Waterway is home to the impressive Lock 21 - Peterborough Lift Lock, which raises boats a staggering 65ft. This historical landmark is an engineering marvel that has been in operation for over 100 years. It's not just a summer destination, as visitors can also enjoy the ice-covered waterway during winter. The lock is surrounded by green space and offers ample parking, making it an ideal spot for picnics and outdoor activities.
Captain Jody is very entertaining during his commentary & interaction with passengers! Whole crew is friendly & attentive & helpful with my mobility & passengers in general. I would highly recommend this cruise for everyone including disabled persons.
Mary Silveira — Google review
This place is fantastic in the winter. The ice is great, lots of room for everyone to enjoy and its blocked from the wind as the ice is down in the waterway. The ice is maintained well and lots of parking around for everyone. Plan to visit next winter for sure.
Topher Ellis — Google review
More fun than I expected - pretty cool to see the locks in action, but just in general it's in a nice spot, plenty of green space, picnic tables, ample parking, and not too far removed from town. Definitely a good spot for a summer afternoon

We had a good time on the Lift Lock Cruise in Peterborough. Seeing the World's highest hydrolic lift lock was amazing. Being over a hundred years old and still working. Over 77ft lift up in total was epic to experience! Definitely recommend seeing this historical wonder of Canada 🇨🇦 👌 👍 😀
Richelle Connolly — Google review
I have been there twice and it’s a must watch . Kids find it intriguing and love to watch the lifts going up and down. You can do picnic as well as watch boats.
manisha singh — Google review
Stopped here to visit this landmark on a road trip. The facility was closed for the season however the park was beautiful and we enjoyed a picnic. The waterway is impressive and we enjoyed walking around. The only thing missing were garbage cans anywhere in the park.
Tricia Fink — Google review
Well worth a visit even if only as a spectator and not "locking through". Quite a marvel of engineering considering it's age of over one hundred years. Some decent geocaching too if that's your thing...
William Humphries — Google review
Don't come to this area often enough but when I do I have a blast. Great area to visit and see how the locks work. It's amazing. I lucked in this trip and got to see about 60 kayakers taking a trip up the Trent.
Durham Drone Guy — Google review
What an experience! Must stick around for 30 min or so, so that you can see boats going up as well as coming down, and do do this from both levels. If you have more time then you can take the paid (no advance online booking possible) waterway and locks cruise.

It was my birthday and was an incredible experience, learning about the locks, how they work, the hydronic cylinders, and the system. My partner was right it was better than having balloons, flowers and just sitting blowing candles . It was the first time I have ever seen such a system. Best ever birthday !!

Amazing feat of construction. The Peterborough lift lock was completed in 1904 and is the worlds highest hydraulic lift lock. I recently participated in the lock and paddle ‘23. It was an awesome experience. The staff are super friendly. They answered all my ridiculous tourist questions. Lmao.

Pretty remarkable that this was built so many years ago and still operates today. Lots of people come from around the world to see it. There's a tunnel underneath that you can drive through and it's a must to blare your horn and accelerate as you pass through.

Over 100 years of history wrapped up in this mechanical marvel. Tallest lock in the WORLD!! The speed of the links is much faster than I expected and it's a great place to bring a picnic! GORGEOUS view from up top!!
Simone Coburn — Google review
The gentlemen who are operating the locks were amazing folks. They went out of their way to explain to us about how these locks operate.
They also had little gifts for the children.
Will definitely visit again.
Such a beautiful location
Roshan Cader — Google review
What a great experience at the lock on Saturday. It's such a marvel! Almost 70 kayakers went through together as part of an event. The staff were so kind and also funny! They were very accommodating to us. Thanks for a great time!

Riverview Park & Zoo is a wonderful destination suitable for families with young children. The park boasts a playground, splash pad, and mini-train ride in addition to over 25 animal exhibits. Visitors should plan ahead and purchase tickets online to avoid disappointment as the park can get busy on weekends. The zoo is clean and well-maintained, providing a pleasant experience for guests of all ages. Peacocks add to the charm of the park, and visitors can even enjoy lunch with them!
My family loves this zoo. This was our first time there since the pandemic and we had a great time. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded at all. You may want to check ahead, I'm glad I did because we had to buy tickets ahead of time. I was surprised how clean it was, which was really nice. The peacocks were beautiful and you can have lunch with them.
It is perfect for families but anyone can have a great time. We didn’t even cover the whole park in a day; I can’t wait to come back! The animals are incredible! I highly recommend this place.
Courtland Ruel — Google review
What a great place to bring the kids and spend the day! Large open playground with a great selection of activities for all ages. Splash pad is small but lots of fun. The stroll along the woods to see the animals was amazing. the train ride was a bit further away but worth the walk. there is a small $2.00 fee There are mosquitoes neat the snack bar so have bug spray. plenty of picnic tables around to sit and lots of shade from the tall trees. There were washrooms all around and were very clean.
Raymond Lau — Google review
My kids loved it. There are quite a collection of animals and they looked really well taken care of. The area is clean and I would say kid friendly. The playground is really good as well as there’s an option from toddler to big kids to use. The kids enjoyed the splash pad as well. The kids love the train ride and the payment for the ticket is very affordable. You just need to go to the very end of the zoo to ride the train. There is a picnic area and a lot of free parking. There’s a washroom at the entrance of the zoo and at the end as well right pass the waste water treatment plant.
Dan August Cabrante — Google review
I still can't believe that the zoo was free! It has everything! Animals, craft area, snack shop, little train (that costs $4/adult), 2 playgrounds and a splash pad. If we lived in Peterborough, this would be our go to place. My kids when asked me to move to Peterborough purely because of this place!
Alex W — Google review
This is such a cute place, small but interesting. Its also free, and you can make donations at your discretion. It's especially great if you have kids. There's a good park right next to it! They have cool animals like reindeer, camels, peacocks, and meerkats! But also more common animals like pigs, turkeys, tortoises, and snakes. It's definitely stroller or wagon friendly, and there's lots of parking. There isn't an incredible amount of walking to do, so if you want a nice short day out it's perfect.
Brianna Parr — Google review
Really nice place. Some nice animals to see. Free entry, free parking. Cant go wrong.

Visit by donation. Very nice park. Lots of clean washrooms. Picnic areas . Train ride to your Right at the end of seeing all the animals near the airplane . Walk down and back to entrance. Park and snack bar , water splash pad. Great zoo for all ages . Best suited for families with younger children. My friend and I took 2 teenagers . They had a good time as well ! Recommended ❤

Fantastic place, you can tell all the animals are so well looked after. Excited to watch the baby dwarf crocodiles grow up over the next while. Snack bar is now open as of Victoria day 2023 and has very fast service.

Beautifully maintained ground and adorable animals. Perfect for an afternoon visit. The canteen is delicious, just be patient with the staff. The train is too cute and honestly refreshing on a really hot day as you cross the water at some point. It’s worth the trip and please don’t forget to donate!

I've lived in Peterborough for over 4 years and I just went to the zoo for the first time this past weekend with my boyfriend. The zoo was very clean and there were lots of animals to see. It's completely free of charge to visit and there is free parking. There is a canteen to purchase snacks and refreshments and a train ride for "kids" that cost $2/ride. I went on it and it was a cute date.
Also brought my nephew here with my mom and he had a blast.
Jacob Conkin — Google review
This is a nice small zoo that all, including families with young children will enjoy. The parking is as is the entrance.

We loved our visit. Very well maintained and free! The landscaping is well done. A great place for a nice walk and the kids enjoyed seeing the animals. The train ride ($2 per person) is amazing - I highly recommend it.

Amazing time. I grew up nearby and I was so happy to be able to bring my own daughter and husband here 💓 we loved seeing the animals and learning about them. The splash pad and playground were great fun! The train ride broke after we waited close to an hour for it but that happens it was out of anyone's control we got a refund and didn't take away from the fun we had. Great place for kids and adults it can get hot and crowded so water and hats are helpful.

Amazing place to spend a Saturday morning. Neat animals to see, great park and splash pad, snack bar and train to ride... all for free! Amazing.

Amazing time at this free zoo..kids loved the camels, llamas, peacock, lynx etc. The splash pad was a hit and kids went crazy! A bit of a drive but such a well maintained zoo and a good spot for a laid back picnic and cheap train ride! Worth a visit with kids.

100% recommend! We visited here as family of 3 (with a 20month old toddler). Cannot believe this gem is for free. Lovely zoo, great splash pad, and a massive playground. There's a $2 fee for the train ride and such a wonderdul experience. We had a great day here and will definitely come back.
The zoo has limited amount of animals but still great. The area is very spacious and well-kempt. Thank you so much, Peterborough for this gem!

Amazing experience for a free zoo!
Even on a wintery day, we saw a python, camel, otters, monkeys, a giant tortoise, and so much more.
The play ground is large and washrooms are available.
It was small enough that it was easy to do with a toddler!

This was a excellent zoo to go to with family!
Free parking and free admission.
They have a little train ride that is $2 per adult, kids under 2 are free. It took us about 3 hours to explore the zoo.
Great shade area for lunch with a snack bar or bring your own lunch, and a splash pad.
Highly recommend.

A fun place to spend a day near Peterborough. Entry is free and is open almost all days. There are not many animals to see but the train ride was awesome and kids enjoyed it. Splash pad was a nice touch to cool of the summer heat just before you head out from the zoo.

All this for free?? Thank you to the community for sharing this beautiful park and zoo with us! If I lived in Peterborough I'd be there every week. I didn't get to ride the train so I'll be back!
The Friends of the Penitentiary Museum is a group of people with a shared passion for Canadas Federal penitentiary system. The museum houses interesting artifacts relating to the correctional history of Canada, dating back to 1833. Tours are available for visitors who want to learn more about the system and its workings.
For a museum that is by donation only, it was VERY informative and well put together. We were in here for a couple of hours and learned many things! There is plenty to see and read about. To add, one of the volunteers, a gentlemen by the name of James? Carried a lot of knowledge and information. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're in the area!

Very impressive. The items they have there are not replicas.. they have the actual torture devices, the real chains, the actual ropes inmates made to escape....it's chilling and exciting and impressive and exhilarating. Everything is in extremely good condition and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They have a selection of interesting souvenirs at the store. Loved it.

Excellent museum and great value for a by-donation entrance. A good balance between the little-known history of Canada’s corrections system, and exhibits that humanize the inmates and focus on their daily lives. It was also great to chat with the former corrections officer who now volunteers with the museum. He had many interesting and valuable insights.
We particularly enjoyed the section of inmate’s art, the level of talent was incredible. Thank you to the inmates for loaning their art to the museum.

100% recommended!
Couldn’t visit the penitentiary as it was busy and I thought I could get tickets on the spot. This museum is no less. You can feel the vibe they’ve showcased. It’s free but donations are welcomed. There’s a high free parking space ahead. I would pay to visit such a beautiful museum again.

I have visited this museum multiple times over the past two years. It is run solely by donations. The museum is self-guided although there are always friendly staff happy to talk if you have questions or want to learn more. The lower level was much more interesting to me as it featured things from attempted escapes and the weapons inmates made while inside the pen. If you're interested in learning more about this historic penitentiary, then the museum is worth a visit.
Coral Murphy — Google review
excellent addition to our Penitentiary tour the day before. We enjoyed listening to the history and stories as told by a retired guard, not sure if that is a normal occurrence. The exhibits are well laid out with good descriptions. Interesting to see the various methods that were used as punishment.

We took the extended guided tour, and Paul, our guide, was amazing.
This IHG Hotel has both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a gym with views of the water. It is centrally located just 5 minutes walk from Kingstons waterfront, K-Rock Center and 1000 Island Cruises.
The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was so busy yet the staff remained helpful, pleasant, professional and patient. A very clean and modern atmosphere. Loved our stay and will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!
Very close to many opportunities the city of Kingston has to offer.
Janice Locke — Google review
The hotel is centrally located and very convenient. Check in was smooth and efficient. The room scrupulously clean. We were traveling with the dog and I am assuming this was a pet friendly room but it was spotless - even for a picky human!
The beds were extremely comfortable and, high marks for good, fluffy pillows!
The only downside was that the dog was not allowed in the bar or restaurant, only the patio, which in Kingston in December, and in the evening, was not appealing. We managed to make-do and our waitress even managed to find some dog treats and was able to stay in the puppy's (and owner's)good graces.
Karen Palmer — Google review
I wasn't very impressed with this location.
They unprepared for me and my group.
The room they gave me was over the air conditioners so I heard the air conditioners all night long. It's sad they treated a bus driver in this manner.
Also there was a party going on outside and I heard the party going on until 2:00 a.m..
Overall I think this hotel location could have handled the situation so much better.
Perhaps this was an off day. I am willing to give Holly and the benefit of the doubt as I normally have a much better experience.
Dee Jackson — Google review
I stayed at this hotel with a friend when we went to a mutual friend's wedding last year. While the room we stayed in was comfortable, clean, pleasant enough, and we enjoyed walking around the waterfront area, things did not go smoothly or completely well, from the very beginning, and I was overall pretty dissatisfied with the experience.
Right from the start when I was booking the room, I was unhappy. I called the hotel to ask about what the price for a room would be. I wanted to confirm with my friend if the price was OK with her or if we wanted to compare with somewhere else. I called and was informed of the price for a regular room with two queen beds. Then I got off the phone and talked to my friend. When I called the hotel back about an hour later, the agent I spoke with gave me a different price, higher than what I was initially quoted. I was given no warning that they had a fluid pricing scheme that would change in such a short period of time, and the agent didn't care that I had been told a different price and had not been informed and that I was unhappy, so I ended up having to pay a bit more for the second night which made me mad.
The room we were assigned was close to the elevator, which was nice for convenience but we could hear the elevator every time someone got on or got off. It was a little annoying, but mostly tolerable, but things got worse from there.
The night of the wedding we got in kind of late because we were up dancing with our good friend, so we slept in the next morning. Fairly early in the morning, I could hear two people talking loudly outside our room. I could tell from what they were saying to each other than they were hotel staff, I think maintenance staff most likely. They hung around in the hall near our room for quite some time. I just tried my best to ignore it until finally they went away. When I raised this with the receptionist later on, she asked if we had called the front desk. It had not crossed my mind. While perhaps I should have done so, and I will keep that in mind in the future, I did not appreciate that this had been a problem to begin with and I thought it was very inconsiderate.
The morning after the wedding my friend and I had planned to take a city bus to the train station because the fare is pretty reasonable. I had looked into the bus routes a little bit ahead of time, but I figured the front desk would have information about the bus schedule and which route would be the best one to take to the train station. I figured that was a pretty common thing that guests would ask about. Ha! When I went to the front desk, they had absolutely no information about the bus schedules whatsoever, and simply said "We recommend you take a cab." Well, we didn't want to take a cab, we wanted to take a bus. We ended up figuring out where the bus stop was on my friend's phone on Google Maps on our own. I was pretty disappointed that the front desk was no help in that regard.
One positive thing I can say is that they had a room behind the front desk where we could keep our bags until we left, since we were going to get something to eat in town after check-out time. But I think all hotels have that, so it's not exactly a perk.
Katharine M — Google review
Beautiful rooms, very clean and bright. Bathroom was lovely and pristine cleanliness. Ventilation system was a bit noisy but a lot of that's on me as I'm a light sleeper. Staff were fantastic! From housekeeping to front desk! Shout out to Sam(antha?) at the front desk for being so kind to me when I had a problem on my final day there. My room was right over the harbour, lovely view! Really enjoyed my stay and hope to be back!
P. S. I should mention that I got a discount rate as I was there with a large group for a conference. Some of the high prices I saw on the website I do think are over-inflated as it is an older building.
Barb Melson — Google review
The location of this hotel can not be beat! It is at the heart of Kingston with dozens of restaurants and shops seeming to radiate from the front doors. The room we had was very clean and quiet. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent. What really made the stay special was Emily at the front desk. We were in Kingston for surgery I required at a nearby Hospital. Emily was aware of my situation, and was very attentive to our needs. Thank you again Emily...you represent Holiday Inn very well!
Frank Sodonis — Google review
Although we weren’t here for the Kingston attractions or views, I do feel certain hotel rooms should be discounted since they advertise great views. My view was an industrial size air conditioner which pretty much took up our whole view and we were right off the elevator so the constant “ding” of the elevator when in use can be heard.
There was a funky smell throughout the hotel, specifically in the hallways and it wasn’t the cleanest. I’m fine that there is no housekeeping as we generally skip it when staying for a night or two, but there was no housekeeping to be seen for the common areas.
It was a busy weekend with tournaments so you think they would hire more staff to keep up with the hallways and especially the main entrance. It snowed and the carpet was soaking wet and the floor was slippery. It didn’t even appear an attempt was made to keep up with this.
There is no continental breakfast included and parking was an additional fee. These additional fees alone I would not have generally booked here but we were part of a group booking.
If you don’t care about views and just looking for a place to rest your head while here for the downtown attractions, this this hotel will do. It is within walking distance of various shops and restaurants.
The room itself was clean with all the necessary amenities within.
The hotel was ok but I doubt I’d return to this one. Perhaps my experience would be different if the weather was nicer and I wasn’t so close to the elevator with a view of an air conditioner.

Have a soft spot for Holiday Inn. Hotels are generally clean, relatively inexpensive, and have all the amenities you need.
This hotel is right on the waterfront, and close to the main downtown area. We were catching a cruise in the dock next door, so it was very convenient. The hotel watched our luggage while we waited to board.

I stayed at this hotel for a few nights while visiting Kingston. The hotel was pretty clean. It also has a restaurant near the front lobby that has an outdoor patio that has a great view of the lake. This hotel also is in a great location being just steps away from the lake and waterfront as well as a park, restaurants and many other attractions. We walked everywhere we went from here.

We had to pay $600 for one night. The staff was so unfriendly. Their communication was horrible, and without empathy. There was no 4-star service. The rooms were okay but had mold in the shower and old dirty plastic chairs on the balcony. Parking is not included, and you have to pay at least $24 dollars for 24 hours. I can't recommend staying there. There are way better hotels in Kingston.

Meet with business colleagues for meeting / social get-together. The bar area was clean and nicely furnished. The staff set us up in an area that comfortably helding 12 people and allowed us close off the room during the business conversation.
Service was friendly, prompt and professional. We ordered several appetizers (flats bread, pizza, wings, veggies & dip. Everything was well prepared and nicely layout for us.
Excellent experience ~ we will be back.

Loved my experience at this hotel. Years ago now. I hope it hasn't changed. Going back in March for a hockey tournament. Hope we get a room with a view again and to walk around that beautiful city. So many older buildings and pubs/restaurants. Just a wonderful city all around.

The level of customer service we received was outstanding! Our original dinner reservation for a dome was canceled due to the overwhelming response of people flocking to the hotel for the eclipse. Needless to say, I wasn't happy, as this was for my hubby's birthday. Kamal, the F&B supervisor was more than accommodating. Even after I sent some not very nice emails, expressing my displeasure. Once I actual read his email and his offer to make things right, I was quick to apologize. I don't want to be a "Karen". I work retail, so know how customers can be. 😉 When we arrived at the restaurant, he came right over, wished my hubby a happy birthday. I was glad to have the opportunity to apologize in person for my behavior in the emails. He was so understanding. Great personality for the position he holds. Our server, Jasmine was great! Prompt, friendly and apologized for what had happened. Which, she has no control of, I'm sure. Food was outstanding! Burger was one of the best I've had in awhile. The tomato Marmalade made it that much tastier!😋 Hubby said his fish & chips were delicious! Would definitely go there again.

All in all a great hotel location is perfect park the car and you can walk everywhere which is nice.
The room very nice and spacious we did have a corner room with harbour view it’s extra but it’s extra room and comfortable.
The staff polite and friendly only downside had problems with room key every day.
They do have a restaurant and swimming pool and fitness area but that was all closed.

3-stars just because there was no housekeeping. You have to request housekeeping, which I did, and they still didn't come. The Delta Waterfront down the road has housekeeping included, no matter what. I get a good rate at this hotel through my company, that's why I stayed here.
Also: no slippers & no laundry bag.
Pros: Dove shampoo/conditioner, clean room, in-house k-cup coffee, bottled water, ondemand movies, ample towels, and beautiful view of the harbour, if you opt for that room.
Notes to management:
1. Carpets need to be upgraded. Makes your rooms look dingy and old, when in fact the furniture in there is just fine.
2. Maybe replace the shower heads in the bathrooms. My water was kind of spurting out in all different directions.
Great sleep. No issues on the mattress/comforters/and pillows.

My wife and I stayed here overnight in April. Check-in was fast and the staff were super-friendly. We had a room overlooking the harbour. The sunrise the next morning was spectacular. The location is the best for downtown - within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. We opted for the inclusive breakfast - it was perfect. I would enjoy a stay here again!

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Waterfront in Kingston on a summer evening during Queen's convocation. The hotel was bustling with activity and seemed to be fully booked. The staff at the front counter were exceptionally friendly and hospitable, which was a great first impression.
The location of the hotel is incredibly convenient, especially for those attending events at the Leon Centre, where Queen's convocation took place. Additionally, it's conveniently situated near downtown sites, making it an ideal choice for tourists.
We opted for a Harborview room and were treated to an amazing view of the main harbour area. The rooms themselves were clean, but there were a couple of drawbacks that affected our overall experience. Firstly, there were no toiletries provided in the room, including basic items like soap, shampoo, conditioner, or moisturizer. We had to call the concierge to have them brought up, which was a slight inconvenience.
The biggest issue we encountered was with the air-conditioning. It was extremely loud, resembling the sound of a jet engine. We found ourselves torn between having a cold room with the noise of a wind tunnel or a quiet room that quickly became uncomfortably warm. Unfortunately, this made it nearly impossible to get a restful night's sleep, and I wouldn't recommend staying here during the summer if this issue persists.
Another aspect that caught my attention was the parking situation. The hotel charges $28 per night for parking, which I believe is quite expensive, especially considering that the Marriott down the street offers free parking for their guests.
In conclusion, the Holiday Inn Waterfront in Kingston is a nice hotel with friendly staff and a fantastic location. However, there are a couple of areas that need improvement. If they can address the noisy air-conditioning and reconsider their parking fees, it would greatly enhance the overall experience for guests.

This is our 3rd time staying at this hotel and we have never been disappointed.
-Rooms are always clean.
-Service is always good, both in person and over the phone.
-The location is great if you plan on walking the downtown core, and offers a beautiful view of the water.

800$ for two nights… way too overpriced for what you get. Breakfast not included- so go somewhere else if you don’t want to pay for cold eggs and bacon. The staff working at the restaurant looked completely disorganized and overwhelmed. Parking is 30$ a night, which should included if youre paying insane prices to stay at their hotel. Hallways are dark and not clean (stains on carpet and chairs). Rooms were fine but still not worth the price we paid. The shower had what appeared to be mold on the seals. The balcony was covered in spider webs, spider eggs and poop. We paid extra for a « water view »- which was a nice lookout to a construction site. I do not recommend and will not be staying at a holiday inn again.

Great hotel and great location. Very clean and quiet as advertised. I have stayed at this hotel several times but mainly alone. This past stay I was with my family of 3 and as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and a Silver member, I received 1 complimentary breakfast ticket. I was very disappointed that this Holiday Inn would be that cheap and when I brought this to their attention...I was told that is their policy. I recommend that all members of the CAF travelling with family in the Kingston area...please stay at Holiday Inn Express Kingston West! It has all the same amenities but only difference is that during my posting we received a complimentary breakfast for ALL family members...not just 1 for everyday we stayed. Thank you again Kingston West for recognizing my whole family.

I came to Kingston for a special occasion to visit my daughter at Queens and was so surprised to find my room decorated, and a complimentary charcuterie board! The staff was so sweet and I was truly touched by their thoughtfulness! Also bonus points for being pet friendly. ❤️ Thanks so much to all at the Holiday Inn Kingston who took the time to make me feel special. It was so appreciated! I will definitely be having a frank discussion with my sister in law about how great my stay was. Thank you!

My mother-in-law booked a waterfront stay back in January it is 4 days from her husband's birthday and they called to cancel. I'm extremely not impressed with the last minute cancellation and they only offered complimentary drinks if she decides to come back. We will be booking elsewhere from now on. Don't waste your time with this company.

I went to a school event for my daughter. We came in from out of town and stayed one night. The weather was terrible, but our stay made up for it. We really enjoyed our time. We decided to eat at the restaurant onsite and choose from a special sampler menu. Our meal was great. The atmosphere was great as well. Our server Sophia was fantastic. There were many hockey players there for a tournament so there was some noise, but things were quiet but around 11, it really was not an issue. We also had breakfast onsite and enjoyed the morning buffet. Note the elevators are small as the hotel is older but it certainly has charm. Our room was clean and everything worked fine.

Beautiful hotel. My check in process took less than 20 seconds. My room was preassigned overlooking the beautiful Water view with a great In House restaurant.
Conveniently located in the heart of downtown this exquisite hotel is right at the end, tip and is near shops, eateries, and local attractions.
The staff was so elegant and so professional and catered to all of my needs. I will be coming here annually, and will be choosing this hotel by far

Fort Henry National Historic Site is a living history military museum in Kingston, Ontario, with special events throughout the year. It depicts British and Canadian military life from the 18th century and is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.
Great time! The staff are dressed up and teach you all about the place while keeping people entertained and happy. Live riffles and cannon demonstrated which was so cool! Good for any age! They have everything from artifacts to bread made right there in the fort! I got some pictures from on the roof and even though it was raining when I went it was still something I'll never forget! A great experience!

Nice historical fort, takes you back to 19th century culture. Lots of cannon of that time, the king’s cutlery, chairs etc are on display.
The place has a general admission fees of 15$, and offers free parking.
Outside view is great to enjoy Lake Ontario views, wolf island visible from here, decent place to enjoy your evening.
Best part of the fort is, in Kingston it is used for festivals and carnivals, like Pumpkin Inferno (pics at the end) and Light Borealis. That’s another reason to visit it in night.

Beautiful historic fort! The displays were well-done and plaques were very informative. I learned a lot during my visit. The view of Kingston and Lake Ontario from the top of the fort is incredible. There are people in era-appropriate costumes to answer any questions. General admission price is reasonable and there is lots of free parking available. Unfortunately, I came on a rainy day so there was no rifle demonstration. Dress appropriately as there are indoor and outdoor walking portions of the self-guided tour. Maps are provided when you check-in but you don't really need it because there are arrows to guide you through. Despite the ongoing pandemic situation, I felt safe visiting. There are hand sanitizers available and enough space to distance yourself from another group. Would recommend to my history-loving friends!

Frontenac Provincial Park is a gorgeous park with well-maintained trails suitable for hiking, camping, boating and fishing. It's surrounded by forested areas with lakes, making it the perfect place to explore nature.
Lovely provincial park with extremely well marked trails. Did the small slide lake loop and absolutely amazing. It is a moderate terrain with lots of climbing rocks which is a good change from city. Highly recommended this trail.

This park is huge and kind of hidden gem as it is very interior. We visited in fall. We came to know after reaching the park that there are so many trails summing up to 160 kms. Friendly staff. We did only couple of trails that are near to park office as it was very cold on the day we went. Mostly, the way to the park is very scenic with full fall foliage..
Jas P — Google review
Some describe it as a hidden gem, most likely hidden because it's in a very remote place that isn't easily found. Which means it's often not crowded, and usually available. The forest feels unending, the lakes are clean, clear and beautiful. The trails through the woods wind around trees, hills and flowing creeks, it's the perfect spot to experience the wilderness.

This is one of my favourite places on earth. I was with a hiking group this visit but I have hiked and snowshoeing the trails many times by myself. The peace, the beauty, the sounds and smells of nature restore my soul. I'd love to camp there and I'm hoping to do so this summer.

A great place for an extended winter hike. We might have been the only people here minus staff. Today 90% of the trail was compacted snow with some dry spots and quite a few watery sections. Make sure you have waterproof boots on. It's also a great spot to walk your dog if it enjoys super long hikes.
Scott Payette — Google review
This is a phenomenal park! The hiking is incredible, and the water was very clean. One thing I would say they can improve on is the direction signs, wasted a bit of time with my group trying to look for a specific mark that eventually we found. The wildlife was also amazing! Would definitely be back here soon.

Beautiful park with knowledgeable staff. The trails are clearly marked with no exceptions in the 36 km loop I completed. The trails are varied from wide and clear to low traversed, see photos. The campsites are very close together so if you are looking for privacy at camp, during popular times of year, this may not be the park for you. I toured in late June during a fire ban following the 2023 wildfires. My one issue was the ticks! This area is heavily populated with ticks and I received many bites from full grown and nymphs. Know how to identify and remove ticks before entering this park.

If you like nature, and whatever it offers, then this is the park for you. Be ready to park your vehicle and do some physical activity compared to other parks where you can drive around. Parking is limited and be respectful to other people parking. There is no usual Gate Office you find in other parks, there is a Park Office near South Otter Lake where you can park for 15 minutes max and get day pass, then drive to actual parking lots. They're small lots. However, you'll find spots, and mostly nature lovers are here. South Otter Lake and Big Salmon Lake is the main attraction, and many benches are available at South Otter Lake Front for a picnic and bring your canoe or kayaks to launch. Arab Lake is a bit away from its parking lot, so be ready to portage if needed. Drive to Big Salmon Lake is a bit tricky. It is a gravel road, very narrow, and you may have to stop to let another vehicle pass. Watch for large stones on the side of the road as you may hit one or two, may damage your vehicle, and speed limit is 20kmph, so please stay within. Bike riding Overall, it was a very good experience with mother nature.

Beautiful backcountry park. I hiked through Moulton Gorge around Little Clear Lake and back around Little Salmon Lake. Camped at site 9, with brand new tent platforms.
Along the way I saw a beaver, deer, turtles, herons, ducks, and a gazillion chipmunks.
I recommend buying the map because the distances are not marked on park signs and I did do some extra mileage as the first junction left off my camp site so I flipped a coin as to which route to take. It was a longer route than I was planning :)
Very cool town! Luv the vibe, architecture, and community ... Would luv to live here! Nice memorial and history. Awesome views by the water!

Nestled along the scenic shores of New York's historic landscape, Fort Sackets offers visitors a breathtaking backdrop for memorable experiences. During my recent visit, I was immediately enchanted by the captivating sunset that graced the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky. It truly stole the show and left a lasting impression.
While the sunset was undeniably the highlight of my visit, I couldn't help but wish for a more immersive experience within the fort itself. The walking path, adorned with informative signs indicating the location of various points of interest, provided some insight into the fort's history. However, I longed for more tangible remnants of the past to explore and engage with.
Nevertheless, despite the lack of extensive fort exploration, the panoramic views offered from Fort Sackets are unparalleled. The serene beauty of Lake Ontario stretching out before me, coupled with the warmth of the fading sun, created a truly magical ambiance. It's a place where time seems to stand still, inviting visitors to pause and appreciate the natural splendor that surrounds them.
While Fort Sackets may lack in-depth historical immersion, its enchanting sunset vistas make it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike. Whether you're seeking a tranquil spot to unwind or a picturesque setting to capture the beauty of nature, Fort Sackets delivers an unforgettable experience.

Dinning outdoors on the property of the winery, enjoying lovely wines along with wood oven cooked food on a nice summer day is tough to beat. We had a great dinner here. Unfortunately they had run out of ingredients for salads and oysters; however, their wood fired pizzas were pretty good. The wine was ok. The service was very good. I would say the best part of the dining experience was the ambiance. It’s outdoor setting with nice vistas where you can sit under an open air tent or completely outside. This is our go-to location for celebrating special occasions, and for making an ordinary day feel extra special. The staff working at the winery are exceptional! They are attentive and humorous, and genuinely seem happy in their environment. By the time guests leave they feel like family. The owners have created such a welcoming atmosphere, both for families and couples. It’s a delight to tour the vineyard and see the sheep, chickens, baby chicks, horses, dogs etc. If you are lucky enough to visit a few times, you can see the progression of the grape vines as they grow toward harvest. The owners take great care to provide not just a meal, but a memorable experience. The wine tasting is a fun activity I’d recommend before you purchase a bottle. During the tasting, interesting information is provided about the different grapes, the vineyard care, and harvesting over the years. The food is the best I’ve tasted. Franco is a professional chef, and his attention to detail and quality, using fresh local ingredients, makes the food it’s own experience! The wood fired pizzas and grilled food are prepared to order, adjacent to the seating area. Orders are brought to the table the minute they’re ready. A visit to this winery is sure to delight each member of your party, regardless of taste preference or age! I highly recommend!

Oysters were fresh and delicious , ordered 2 brick oven pizza that were out of this world and finished off with steak and juicy jumbo shrimp with a nice bottle of wine !!
Highly highly recommended , worth the drive !!
Our only concern were the table and chair , not very comfortable to sit and enjoy wine for some time !

An absolutely amazing evening at Scheuermann (pronounced like « fireman ») Vineyard. First the location was wonderful in beautiful countryside and obviously a working farm. Secondly and most impressively, the service was attentive, friendly and impeccable. Lauren & Alison were stellar and as good as service you’d expect at any top 5 star restaurant. Finally the food and wine were excellent. Artichoke dip rated 10 out of 10 by the teens, as did their wood-fired pizza and Francois’ steak was tasty and perfectly medium-rare with tasty mushroom sauce. And we loved the Pinot noir and Chardonnay. Couldn’t ask for anything more… but then got to visit with Miss Madeleine, the lamb they are rehabilitating. ❤️ Can’t wait to come back and highly recommend. You won’t regret a visit!

The slot machines are a little confusing to understand, where you may just he pushing buttons and hoping to win something.
With few tables to play and few seats available, if you want in on blackjack , it was the busiest one, with no chance to get in, so you're stuck on the machines.

The outside is vintage 1950s/Art Deco signage which is super lovely. Security and Id check was fine. Had an issue with trying to get a card as they needed extra verification from HQ security. Also be forewarned that you need to fill out a PAPER form! Like why? That should have been my first indication. The cashier was the most helpful. The high limit room was small. There are a lot of older machines and only 4 Dragon Link games (the one I finally was able to play had been not working for a while even with the service light on).
It was an okay experience but I won't be back. The machines didn't pay; the sounds weren't working (and some were working too well) and the RTP was dismal. I was there for 90 minutes and the most I saw anyone win was 90$.

My family and I came here for Easter weekend. I just went to the restauraunt since I dont gamble. I ordered the chicken caesar wrap which I thought was pretty good. It was around $15 which makes it reasonably priced. I like how you can get a discount of 10 percent on the food if you get a card at the front. Later I ordered a wine and it was decent and also reasonably priced at $7. Service wasnt bad and sufficient. All in all, not a bad experience.

Fun time here, won some and lost some. It is a very small casino (but it's also in a very small town!) There is a ridiculous amount of parking, so no stress finding a spot. The casino is clean inside, offers a variety of slot machines and a couple table games. My only real complaint is that the food was subpar and service was slow at the restaurant.

The service was the best I ever had. The room was beautiful and clean when we arrived. The tub was fun. Fits 2. 😉. The breakfast was also excellent.. 5 stars

I recall checking out this casino years ago when it had just opened. The place was busy, beautiful and full of spectacle; what you might expect from a casino.
Unfortunately, the shine seems to have dulled over the years as maintenance has obviously not been kept up with.
I visited recently during what I would have expected to be prime time on a Friday night. The place was almost empty.
Sad, really. This could be a destination and instead management seems to be content with complacency. Oh well, at least parking won't be an issue.

1 star is too much. Manager Mike and doorman Mark were very rude when my wife and I were visiting and they asked to see her identification. She was very flattered by the request but when she showed 3 different pieces or identification all of which were her and she is 33 years old. I drove 2 hours to visit. Clearly they were not having a good night and didn't want our money!!! I'll never be back. Mike the manager is a real piece of trash as far as I'm concerned. You ruined our entire night. Loser probably needs to get laid !! Never gonna come back !!

They should remodeling Exterior and interior during pandemic for better and more higher services to customer. Dont getting money from senior people and just put in a pocket never upgrade. Machines are old and slow. All same and nothing changed since 2007. Just changing game programs on same machine so computer cant work smooth. Looks like family restaurant from outside look.
Employees are super friendly.
immediately action require extend space use parking space to better and more tourists visit to kingston. Make Gananoqui town more popular.

My friends and I were staying in a cottage in Lyndhurst and decided to check out this casino which was about 25 minutes away. We decided to apply for a player's card and were told that if we have a card from other casinos owned by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation the same card can be used in this casino. Since we did not bring our card with us the customer service representative checked the database and because we are already in the system, cards were issued to us. They really provided excellent customer service. They also have coffee machines and soft drinks machines inside the casino for players to help themselves. It is a nice little casino in Gananoque.

Casino is beautiful new great machines staff very helpful although they only allow you to have two drinks in an hour which seems kind of silly to me. They should be on an individual basis. Bathrooms were filthy, and there was lots of leftover empty drinks at the machines that stayed there over the few hours that we were there, overall, if they fix the issues mentioned above, I would give it five stars.

The place has gone extremely downhill.
We went on a Thursday and Friday night.
Is ridiculously boring
No atmosphere no music, the place was dead.
The dealers we had had 0 interaction almost like they were robots no emotions no conversations.
10 years ago it was amazing I have no idea what happened.
I bet you with out Exaggerating I probably been here well over 500 times.
Will more than likely never be back.
Is probably the same thing Eyes everyone else because it was like it was Sunday morning 8 AM
But on a Thursday and Friday night.

Important: Gambling addictions can be hard to cope with, but with the right help it can be managed. This casino is very well lit, open and spacious, offers a wide range of machines and games, and has a very nice atmosphere. You can tell they take pride in their business and the employees also look happy to be there. They seem to care about the people who attend their casino and make it easy for you to ask questions or address concerns if needed. Happy spending! May you WIN BIG!

This 32-acre zoo showcases a variety of native animals, including bears, turtles & lynx.
Been coming to this place since I was very young. It may be on the smaller side, but its a great little zoo. Full of things to see and do. Early is the best time to come; the animals are more active. They have a small play area great for kids. The Wolverine was super active today. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

My family went to Zoo New York for the Earth Day event yesterday have been a couple times. It's a nice little Zoo and has some fan favorites like bears (black bears), bald eagle & otters. They're big on conservation which is awesome. We've only been in the Winter and now early Spring, so the animals weren't particularly active which is understandable. We can tell there will be more once the weather warms up, like the butterfly house. The pricing is very reasonable and we'll be frequent visitors.

Smaller zoo. Many of the animals when we went were not on display (the children’s farm being one). Very cool to see local animals up close.

Overall experience was good! It's not very big and has a focus on North American local wildlife with a decent variety of animals. That being said the animals were so fun to watch and the staff is so passionate about their work. We spoke with Keeper Brenda for a long time after her wolf conservation presentation and she was so nice and obviously loves her job, the animals, and knowledge of conservation efforts. Talking to her was the highlight of our trip.
(We went in the winter and on a Saturday)

Alright so I love zoos but this one was really disappointing.
1) They don’t post the time for the elk feeding and then when I got there at 11:50 and asked to purchase 2 tickets to feed the elk and then I was informed that they stopped selling tickets for that for the day (their hours are 10-5, so I was surprised they stop so early in the day), they said they only sell tickets for it from 10:45 to 11:46 and then the feeding is at 12. Which whatever I missed it, but then at 12:20 the one zookeeper had at least 10 cups of carrots that he was just chucking over the side of the fence to the elk, that was already prepared for visitors.
2) Then we went into the reptile house and out of the 6 enclosures inside 2 of them were empty and closed for renovation.
3) We went to the butterfly house at like 12 when we first arrived and it was locked, and I was told the zookeeper was probably on lunch and then I tried again an hour and a half later after I was told they’d be back between 12:30 and 1 and it was still locked. So we ended up leaving without getting to see the butterflies.
4) The petting zoo/farm animal area was also locked and not open for visitors just like the butterfly house, so we left without seeing them too.
5) They also had the wolverine and owl, and otter inclosure empty
6)They also said there was a pressed penny machine online and there was none.
There was quite a bit of play ground area and stuff for small kids to play around. Not bad for little kids but overall not a good zoo. I honestly wouldn’t advertise it as a zoo it’s more of a public park with the animals kinda like a second thought. Definitely not worth the $12 a person. Considered asking for my money back because of how disappointing it was but I didn’t even bother.

I have gone to this zoo for 52 years. I have pictures of myself in this zoo since I was 3 years old. It has changed over the years. I will always remember the sound of the peacock's that they used to have. Now the zoo is NY animal habitat only. I dont live in NY anymore but I visit every time I am home. I enjoy seeing the animals and taking photos.
Penny Cline — Google review
So awesome! The exhibits are great, lots of good info, and the habitats are incredible. The zoo does lots of activities, nice gift shop.
Their concessions are very limited, there’s hot dogs and nachos and that’s pretty much it for “real” food.
I wish there were some educational books or coloring books about the animals, but the stuffed animals are ADORABLE.

My husband and I love visiting zoos when we are on vacation, so we had to come to this one on our way home. There were some cool interactive things to help kids learn and some nice exhibits, but overall, the value for the price was disappointing. Many of the exhibits were closed or empty. The butterfly house was locked and inaccessible. A lot of the animals were not visible. We did get to see a bald eagle and porcupine pretty close up which was cool. The grounds were clean and well maintained and the animals seemed to be well cared for.
Sarah Malczewski — Google review
With there being trash in certain spots, and most of the enclosures looking run down. My family did not have a good time. Albeit it was mothers day and my wife got in for free, which respectfully that was nice. It is such a small place and has maybe a handful of sad looking animals. I would hardly consider this a zoo. These animals need to be relocated and this land needs to be used differently. Will not return. However, the animals are still adorable. Maybe spend the 9 bucks to just jog there along the trails and have the animals near you? Takes about 30 mins to go around the entire zoo....walking extremely slow mind you.
Marcus Ruedin — Google review
Definitely a small zoo, but still an interesting place to see some native animals up close. I was glad to see that there wasn't anything too exotic, from an animal welfare standpoint, especially considering the harsh winters in this area. Nice place to walk around with my 6 yr old and fun to read about the animals, especially the stories of how they came to the zoo, like Pandora's comical story we laughed about! We also recently saw a wild barred owl and we love to go to Tug Hill in the evenings and call to them. We hear them so often that it was cool to see one much closer up, given all we have learned of them. Only thing I think definitely needs attention is the tanks inside! They were full of algae and a couple dead fish (pictured). The turtle was a kind I've never seen or heard of before, so it was cool to see that and learn how common they actually are. But someone really needs to be keeping up with tank maintenance!
Emmalee Jantzi — Google review
There are only some animals. Though we did find the park to be a good workout. It was neat being able to check out the animals that they do have. There seems to be some construction happening in some areas. They didn't have the wolverines. The white snow owl seemed hungry? Upset? I'm not sure tho when we were there it sounded off to us even when I dbl backed after a little bit.
Saw what seems to be some improvements. I wish, though, that the zoo was more like it used to be a few years ago. I mentioned to my daughter how it feels more like a farm now.

What a beautiful park. There's a river running through it, lots of benches to sit and enjoy the view, outcroppings of rock, and interesting gardens. Take the path to the bottom of the park, cross the street and see the amazing dry stone built bridge. There is also a children's playground and picnic area at this end of the park.
Michelle Walker — Google review
I have been to this park a number of times, and enjoyed the experience every time. It's pretty big, with mature trees and quite a bit of shade. It's close to the Perth downtown area, and which also makes for an enjoyable stroll down its decorated sidewalks lined with traditional buildings and scores of exotic stores. But what takes the cake is the Tay Rapids in the middle of the park, and the constant murmuring of which is calming and relaxing. Two beautiful bridges over the water-body add to the overall ambience of the park. The restroom facilities on one side of the park, across a narrow street, are quite adequate. The only downside of this park is the dearth of parking, that gets a bit dicey on weekends.
Overall, a visit to this park is highly recommended.

Just a gorgeous space, used for weddings, relaxing, picnics, etc....tucked away off the strip in Perth. People are generally quiet there, enjoying the calming of the water, and the sound of it too in some places.
I'm a big fan of grabbing some food, or a coffee and taking it there to chill.
Full of sunny and shady areas, clean, but not really child friendly, which I think is deliberate.
Great spot.

Boldt Castle is a grand castle situated on a 5-acre island in the St Lawrence River. It was constructed by George C Boldt, who owned Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. The castle offers tours of its interior, formal gardens, and grounds. Located about 25km from Gananoque and technically situated in the USA, visitors need to bring their passports to gain entry.
This was the first time to visit the area coming from the south US and going into Canada. Getting the tickets was quick but a bit complicated on which one to get. The girl at the window was good to help us out understand the differences. The boat ride was quick and smooth. The island itself was gorgeous. My family and I spent 1 hour there and it was too short. You can spend the entire day until 5 or so for the same price. The building are gorgeous and the history very interesting. I definitely recommend doing this and spend more than just one hour here.

We visited Boldt Castle as a part of the 5 hour cruise. The cruise stops over here for 2 hours to see the castle. It was a bit of a wait to clear US immigration. Once you are inside, it's quite spectacular to see all the views, architecture, and the way the castle is furnished. It's quite a sad history behind the castle, and some parts are left unfinished. 2 hours minus the time for immigration was not enough time to completely see everything but just right. Would have loved to spend more time. If you have a sweet tooth, don't miss the little ice cream store there. They serve amazing ice cream. The quality & quantity are out of this world.

It was fun, but it was really crowded, and a bit chaotic. However, after touring the castle we found a quiet bench to sit on along the water's edge and watch the boats cruise by. The castle itself is fascinating, especially the higher up you climb into the unfinished areas. The yacht house was worth the extra ticket, the old boats, engines, and the building itself were amazing (if you like that sort of thing).

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Boldt Castle on Saturday. The Bridge Authority has done a wonderful job in restoring this great piece of history. The property inside and outside is so well taken care of by the staff. We were blessed by the experience to see not only what has been restored, but also to be able to see what is still in process. We have toured many places over the years and have never seen the behind the scene look at what goes on to restore a building of this magnitude. It was truly a gift to be included in the experience of the love George had for his wife in building this structure for her.

In the 1970’s, my family visited Boldt Castle. I was so excited to return for the first time since then. We stayed in Watertown for the night, then drove to Alexandria Bay. It was all better than I expected! In the 70’s, the castle was in ruins. I honestly had no idea it was being renovated as this was a last minute addition to a trip in the Adirondack Mountains. It was worth taking a day to see the castle and yacht house and the area!
We took a boat over to Boldt Castle around 11:30 am on a Thursday. The boat ride was between five and ten minutes. We walked through the castle and around the grounds and spent 3 wonderful hours. We had a quick lunch at the cafe, then took a shuttle over to the Yacht House. That may have taken 15 minutes to tour (the boat ride was about 5 minutes). All so interesting! We walked through a few shops and were in our car and heading home by 4 pm.
I can’t wait to return to the area and spend more time here. Next time I would stay in Alexandria Bay for a few days!

Great place to visit and wander around. Lots of things to see all over the island for those who love peering back into history. Highly recommended. The Diefenbunker was a large, underground military bunker that was built in the early 1960s as a response to the escalation of the Cold War. It is now a public museum and is worth the visit for anyone interested in military history or general survivalism.
This is a nice place for a family visit. We went there with the kids and they had so much fun. I think it’s more interesting for adults, but you can take the kids with you, just be ready to explain them everything they see. The place looks really old and it creates unique atmosphere. I was surprised to find out that you can celebrate your birthday there or have a quest activity with you friends.

- Enough car parking spots.
- Better to do prior online booking.
- Four floors to visit, 1-2 hrs are enough.
- Better to bring jackets for kids, it can be cold inside.
- Nice green area outside with sittings for picnic.

Best. Part. Of. Our. Trip.
Hands down. We loved it, this was a really cool slice of history, REAL history, that you could walk around in and explore. We spent close to 2 hours there, wandering through all the rooms, reading all the exhibits, soaking up the general vibe. It was amazing to see so much of it all just left there, in place, for us to see all these years later. Just walking down the blast tunnel and going through the big vault doors, that really set the tone for the rest of it. No guides, no staff, no one to distract you from going at your own pace and checking everything out. More than enough signs and plaques to explain everything, we weren't left with any questions at the end. Though, if this bunker is closed, where is the current one for current PMs?

Discovering Diefenbunker: Canada's Cold War Museum was like finding a hidden gem. Every room in this museum is fascinating and beautifully preserved, offering a unique journey through history. The tour starts at the 400 level and descends down to level 100, with each step becoming more exciting and immersive.
The museum provides a wealth of information about the post-WW2 era and the Cold War period. As you explore the bunker, you’ll encounter a variety of exhibits that bring this period to life. From detailed displays about the geopolitical climate of the time to personal stories of those who lived through it, the museum does an excellent job of conveying the tension and uncertainty of the era.
One of the highlights for me was seeing the meticulously maintained calendars from the 70s, which added a personal touch to the historical narrative. Additionally, the museum showcases a fascinating array of old computers and tech devices, providing insight into the technological advancements of the time. It’s incredible to see how far technology has come since then.
The attention to detail in every exhibit is commendable, and it’s clear that a lot of effort has gone into preserving and presenting this important part of history. The interactive elements of the museum make it engaging for visitors of all ages, and I found myself thoroughly engrossed in the experience.
I am truly grateful to the authorities for maintaining this incredible museum. If you're visiting Ottawa, don't miss out on this place. It's an absolute must-see and highly recommended for everyone interested in history, technology, or simply looking for an engaging and educational experience.

LIKES: Was quite the experience! Worth a visit if you're in the area and have ANY interest in cold war history, the Canadian Forces or just curious about bunkers and shelter life!
Think about the Fallout series of games and genre and this hits right home with that!
OPPORTUNITIES: I think in the future they could greatly improve this museum if they add more period specific props and equipment, open up more rooms to explore and somehow integrate activities as well.
SUMMARY: Enjoyable 2-3hrs exploring a really neat chunk of Canadian Cold War history, affordably! Tickets were like $17!

Excellent place to visit. We did our own walk around tour and it was really neat to see a nuclear bomb bunker that basically stayed as it was during the cold war. Very cool, very original Cold War bunker intended to ensure Canada's government survived a potential nuclear conflict. One of the cool things they do in telling the history is to set up different rooms as they would have been in each decade from the 1950s through the 1990s. Well done!

Such an interesting gem of Canadian History that never happened.
Getting a glimpse into the doomsday prepping of a nation is a bit hard to wrap your head around, even as the proof of it exists around you. I truly feel like most will enjoy this tour, no matter age. Navigating with a group of people can get overwhelming, but I triply do feel having a guide is more engaging than not, although I am sure going unguided is just as enjoyable.
Our tour guide Brayden was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and thoughtful of guests who required mobility assistance. His love for the subject shines through his guiding. Throughout the tour, more guests joined, creating a larger group than usual, which he handled well.
I only recommend buying tickets in advance as you are only required to check in by giving your name upon arrival which is less hassle.

A very interesting place. Besides being historic, it is also very educational. Walking through the Diefenbunker is like a trip on a time machine. The various rooms and their contents are very well-preserved. The accounts and facts written on the walls are descriptive and lucid.
A piece of advice is to set aside a good amount of time to be able to go through the entire museum and comprehend the true significance of the establishment, and the circumstances under which it was built. It is a huge place with four floors underground.
A tour of the place is highly recommended.

A nice way to spend a couple hours - what a cool look into the past! We opted for the guided tour which was well worth it. Our guide, Gilles C. worked in the installation decades ago so he was able to add a really neat perspective on top of being an exceptional guide, a volunteer no less! The vault at the very bottom was very cool - literally and figuratively. Definitely would recommend a visit.

We had a Blast!
Awesome experience, we took the guided tour and was worthy every penny, we learn a lot from and got a super close impression of how the atmosphere was while during the Cold War in Canada.
Totally recommended for anyone. Maybe not to interesting for small kids, my 7 yo was a bit tired at some point.

I saw this on History Channel a little while ago and was fascinated to see it in person. The TV episode didn’t do this place justice, this was an awesome location to explore and visit. 4 huge floors of bunker with rich history information and audio tour. We missed the guided tour which I’m sure would have been awesome. Looks like you can do a kids camp along with things like escape rooms here to broaden the interest. Definitely worth checking out!

What a wonderful piece of history. We took the guided tour which was led by Brian Jeffrey. He regaled us with stories, made us laugh and tested our history knowledge. Loved every minute of it. If you’re in the area make sure you visit the museum.

This was a first rate experience that provides an authentic experience and a better sense of Canada’s place in the world. The formal tourist well worth the added cost. Brian was an excellent guide…especially appreciated his sense of humour .

Wonderful, well-priced museum that's packed with relics and details from decades of history. Our guide was great, having worked here while in the army during the 60s - definitely go with the tour option when grabbing a ticket!

My family and I recently visited the Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum, and we found it to be a fascinating experience. The staff were incredibly helpful, and friendly, which made our visit even more enjoyable. The museum was well-organized, with lots of informative signs and displays that provided us with a comprehensive understanding of the historical significance of the place.
One of the highlights of our visit was the Amateur Radio Station, which my son loved as he is currently into the Ham Radio experience. He was excited to learn that there is a Volunteer Radio Group that helps to preserve a piece of Cold War communications history.
Overall, it was an extraordinary experience to walk through history in a nuclear bunker that is 25 feet underground and to see all this vintage technology and furniture again. It was truly a unique experience that we will never forget, and we highly recommend the Diefenbunker Cold War Museum to anyone who wants to learn more about the past.

Must-see venue in Ottawa region!
Still under strong impression after the visit. The feeling of 30-day period (that is the time limit of life support in this underground facility) ticking away in order to find a solution in a concrete and steel bunker is unforgettable.
I will add more photos to this review later.

This is a unique facility that is purely funded by enthusiasts who wanted to preserve a fascinating part of Canada's history and indeed world history. Unlike various other actual museums, this place preserves the entire facility as it was imagined. You can see things down to the original maps and even staplers that were used!
In surprised by how well this place was preserved over all this time and so many people coming through it with autonomy.
Great way to spend 2 hours in the Ottawa region. Price of admission is more reasonable than other museums.

It seems the Diefenbunker is still a well kept secret. Being inside the bunker immerses you in the experience and brings you back in time. If you take the time to read and explore you can learn a wealth of information about Canadian history. It is a must see stop during your visit to Ottawa.
Tons of fun for the whole family! Lots of interactive exhibits, a jungle gym, and fun educational areas where the kids can learn about water. The staff were also very friendly, and knowledgeable. We ran out of time before we ran out of things to do.

Geared for younger crowd. My kids are 8 and 11 and they were bored. Drove an hour to be there for the 1 o'clock entry. We left for 130.
We did not see any of the shows so not able to comment on those. However my daughter did get to see the mermaid. Who was fantastic with interacting with the crowd as well as individuals taking pictures with her.

We had a pretty amazing experience thanks to Corey Stitt. Note to self and to others. Buy tickets online ahead of time, and plan your trip. As well as be prepared to be separated from your kids for like two areas. I don't mean it in a bad way I just mean there is tunnels and stuff for them to see fish closer and to get onto the ship/slide, my son always has a great time here, but if you would like a less busy scene go after March break.

This was a pit stop on our road trip.
We weren't expecting something big, and yes, indeed, the Aquatarium is pretty small. However, it is so perfectly created, with enormous attention to details. It was a pleasure to spend here an hour or so.
There is a place for kids to play and give some energy away.
And you can also watch “shows” - feeding time for animals.
Super welcoming and friendly staff, they all acted as we were guests in their house.
Souvenir shop, the cafe at the corner and a restaurant on the second floor.

This is hands down one of the greatest family memories we have ever made. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to engage with our kids. I recommend this to anyone with children of all ages. Ignore the other reviews that tell you this place wasn’t stimulating for their children- we could have spent an entire day in the water table room alone. If your children (of any age) aren’t completely in love with this place, that’s likely a reflection of your parenting style, not here. We enjoyed this more than Ripley’s Aquarium (downtown Toronto) and the conservation aspect here is incredible (they rescue formerly mistreated beavers and otters). The otters will come right up to the tank and interact with you. Don’t even think about it, take your children here, it’s incredible.

Super fun museum for the whole family. We were a large group with 6 kids ranging in age from 2 to 18 and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
I loved watching the beaver eat the bark off a stick, feeding time for the otters, and feeding time for the longnose gar.
I highly suggest a trip to this museum.

My family and I enjoyed our day at the Aquatarium. We were able to see the otters having their snack time, and the boys learned a lot of new things about sea stars and other creatures. We visited the Traveling Bricks exhibit, and ended our day with the escape room experience.

Aquatarium was a hit. It was our 2nd time there (ever), and we attended on the August long weekend. We spent about 2.5 hours there and could have stayed longer if energy levels allowed. Our group was two adults, a 5 year old and a 6 year old.
It is so well designed and interactive. We tried almost every exhibit and spent probably 45 minutes at the amazing ball station in the gift shop.
The only flaw from my perspective is that feeding times are packed so it's not likely that you'll see much from the animals unless you're early to stake out a spot before it starts and comfortable in a crowd.
It's walking distance to the south end of the railway tunnel, nice waterfront space, and several options for food.
Parking was a challenge. We were told it was much worse than usual as there was a boat poker run happening.
Of note, we also attended the travelling bricks exhibit. It was ok, but underwhelming for me. Parking was plentiful and free. We spent about 1h20min there. It was a few nice LEGO builds on display grouped by theme, then at the end there was a LEGO pit where the kids could build. If the Aquarium didn't throw in a bonus activity, I would have been disappointed at the value for cost. There is a little gift shop at the end. Table in the center had little Lego knock off sinks or sea creatures or a light up extension tube fidget thing for $3 each. Prices of other items around the sides were higher and varied. Bonus activity had to be chosen and time booked on arrival. Options were the train, obstacle course, or escape room.
The escape room was a fun, cowboy themed experience. It's got a time limit of 45 minutes.

This place is PERFECT for kids! My 4 year old has never been very interested in museums until this place- he had a blast in the water play table and the ball vacuum trucks in the gift shop. The place is clean and gorgeous inside and the animals are very well loved and cared for. And the employees are incredibly kind and helpful! We burned 5 hours here easily. 10/10! We came on Monday and we had the place to ourselves.

Brockville is a small community and despite that they are fortunate to have a clean and family friendly aquariums. Don't set your expectations too high as if it were a world renowned aquarium, because it is not. However, there are lots of interactive live displays, educational tours and it is a nice place to spend a few hours. I liked going to the aquarium and recommend others to go there as well especially if you are visiting the area.
If you like my reviews, photos or videos scale your fin up.

Stopped in at the Aquatarium on a family road trip and it did not disappoint. My children are 3 and 6 and they absolutely loved it. We are greatful to the staff for accommodating the error we made in purchasing our tickets. I was blown away by the attention to detail throughout the building - from the elevator ride (which seems like you are in a submarine), to the details even in the signage for the washrooms, it was all spot on. The Centre is very interactive which is great with busy boys. I am also greatful to another family who was signing up for the ropes course - as it is a flat rate for upto five people they welcomed my son into their group. The staff were amazing and encouraging - He had an absolute blast. My three year old was fascinated with the sea creatures you can touch - the staff were incredibly patient and very knowledgeable. We also loved the 'secret passageways'. I personally loved that I could be a kid with my kids. We enjoyed otter feeding show. The building is fully wheelchair accessible and I had no problem manoeuvring a large stroller. We will definitely return!

First time visiting the Aquaterium with my toddler and baby, and had a wonderful time! It was incredibly busy as it was opening weekend for the mermaids but the staff didn't bat an eyelash and even helped me wrangle my toddler from running off too far! The mermaid story times and swim were so much fun and we loved seeing the aquatic life, especially the hermit crabs. We spent a long time playing at the interactive sandtable too. We will definitely come back again.

Best place EVER to find exquisite home/kitchen decor, treats you won't find anywhere else, the most amazing selection of fine chocolates... and the MUSTARD ... where do I begin?! I love them all. And the staff are all knowledgeable about their products and literally can't do enough to help you find what you're looking for. Downside? I ALWAYS come out of there with way more than what I'm actually shopping for. Example? Go in for one of the beautiful Italian olive oils, come out with pretty napkins and a set of placemats (and the olive oil) . Go in for a small gift for a friend, leave with a new shower curtain, the chutney you haven't tried, more mustard flavours, and a spray bottle for your eco-friendly cleaner. Consider yourself warned!

The Canadian Tire Centre is a famous hockey arena that is home to the Ottawa Senators. In the winter, the CTC is used to host the Ottawa Senators NHL team. However, in summer, the CTC holds concerts and events that are enjoyed by all ages. This venue is great for watching a game! Although there can be some congestion in corridors, this is to be expected with so many people in attendance.
The home of the National Capital Region's largest capacity Arena/ Stadium is located in Kanata. The stadium opened in 1996 and was built to accomondate Ottawa's National Hockey Leagues (NHL) franchise team, the Ottawa Senators. It also hosts indoor music concerts and special events.
There has been much controversy about why the region's most impressive stadium was constructed 27km from the city centre of Ottawa. There were questions relating to the lack of transit infrastructure and its location being so far from higher density populated areas (downtown Ottawa and Gatineau). This distance becomes more of an issue since hockey games are played during winter when the worst driving conditions occur.
The stadium has changed its name several times. Such as; The Palladium (1996), COREL Centre (1996 - 2006), Scotiabank Place (2006 - 2013) and now it is the Canadian Tire Centre (2013 - present).
There are 4 levels in the stadium with the lower three dedicated for Seating/ Suites and the 4th with standing suites. All offer different perspectives in viewing the games and enjoying a unique game experience.
The general flow getting into the stadium, passing through security and finding your way to your seat is reasonably quick. The concession stands provide their services at a reasonable rate, but prices are high.
The city of Ottawa is now looking into building a new arena to increase capacity and revenue from the NHL games. They are looking into building it in an open area in LeBreton Flats, which will be an easy walk to downtown Ottawa and Gatineau.
If you like my reviews, videos or photos why not get a photo with the Sens mascott, Sparacat and give a salut with your hockey stick. Go Sens Go!

The Canadian Tire Centre is a great venue to see fantastic shows/concerts. The staff are ALWAYS really kind and helpful, often giving great suggestions. The main stage is HUGE, with lots of space for audiences. Always clean and well kept.
The food is always good, but a little expensive. We waited in line to go to Bert’s (nobody ever got back to me about making reservations) and it was nice. They were incredibly quick and our server, Halee, was great!
Love coming here with family to see shows. Try getting there early for parking and making sure to jet to your car after any show, or you’ll be stuck in traffic for a while!

Disney on Ice was awesome, what a great first experience at the Canadian Tire Centre! The kids loved every minute of the show and us moms had fun also!! Things where on the pricier side but that is a given for anything relates to Disney lol. We had great seats, maybe 20 feet or so from the ice, the benches were comfortable for the 2 hours. Lots of people available to guide the lost souls trying to find their seats, and enough bathrooms. Facility was clean and organized. We really enjoyed ourselves. #family

Beautiful arena, been here multiple times.
Many parking places, sometimes just before the game, traffic may be heavy.
All staff were friendly and helpful.
Many conssesion stands on level 200, the line up for the toilet can be very long like other NHL places I went.
I had tickets for level 100, 200 and 300 and all section are good.

Visited from out of town for the season opener of the Ottawa Senators.
Always traffic to get into the parking lot and also to leave the parking lot. New mobile parking pass in lot 5 and 9 however makes parking easier.
Venue is clean and good view from even 300 level.
Good food and drink options available from the different vendors. We had chicken tenders and it was delicious!

Far from the central part of Ottawa and always a traffic jam trying to get here. The arena itself is nice and the staff does its best to present a fan friendly environment. The restrooms were clean, ushers helpful, and concessions line moved even in between periods!

We were there for a Sens game and the venue is good. It can be crowded, particularly between periods and at the end when everyone is trying to leave. The paying for parking has changed, you need to download an app and register the car's license plate I'd recommend getting the app before going if you are planning on parking there. There is lots of parking and a lot of places run shuttle buses to events. It would be nice if the train ran right to the CTC, that would help with the traffic before and after. Maybe in the future.

My wife and I went to our first Sens game vs the Arizona Coyotes. It's actually nice to see a brand new team this year. So much potential now that they finally opened up the pocket book and signed these players long term. These kids will give us years of fun to go see more games. We sat in the nosebleed section and we were surprised at how well we could see the whole surface of the rink. So much fun we bought more tickets for future games. What a blow out for the sens 6-2 Go Sens Go.....great time, great atmosphere. TBH the traffic isn't that bad at all either 👍

We flew up from the states to watch the Lightning play a game and I have to say this was a pretty nice arena. I was a bit surprised how far out of town it was and there isn't any type of rail link. We sat on the glass, and the tickets were very reasonable I thought. While there are several sit-down restaurants, more variety at the concessions would have been nice.

As my wife and I were in Ottawa for the weekend, we decided to go to a Senators game. We had decent seats for about $50 each, so quite reasonable. Parking was straightforward, plenty of space and only $20. The atmosphere was fantastic and we really enjoyed the experience. Getting in and out of the venue was simple, and there were plenty of clean washrooms and food/drink vendors. As is always the case at these venues, drink prices are simply ridiculous, $16 (plus an expected tip) for a can of beer/twisted tea that costs $3.50 at the liquor store. Putting that aside, we had a lot of fun, even though the Sens lost :(

We always have a good time at the canadian tire centre. I have to admit it does suck to have to drive out of the city for sens games would be nice if it was more accessible but we make it work to support the ottawa senators. We always have a good time, especially when we play against the maple leafs. We brought the family there for a game and everyone had lots of fun, atmosphere was amazing, they have nice cold drinks. The food there isn’t the best, made quick so fries not very well cooked, and everything is super overpriced. 2 drinks costs about 35$, but hey it’s all about the experience and outing lol! Been here many times for hockey games and concerts, it’s big, lots of parking, good place for big events! service is always good, staff are amazing! Long bathroom lineups, even with lots of bathrooms available but i guess that’s to be expected. Few restaurants in there also, and lots of souvenirs and sens gear :)

As a longtime fan of hockey, revisiting the Canadian Tire Centre for a game was a nostalgic journey that reignited the passion and excitement I've always associated with the sport. Accompanied by my friend, we embarked on an evening filled with anticipation, camaraderie, and, of course, hockey.
From the moment we arrived, it was evident that some aspects of the Canadian Tire Centre experience had evolved for the better. Parking, once a source of frustration, had become noticeably easier to navigate, alleviating any pre-game stress. The streamlined process of entering the arena further enhanced the overall accessibility, allowing us to focus solely on the excitement that lay ahead.
Navigating our way to our seats was a breeze, thanks to the helpful and efficient ushers who guided us with ease. It's the little details like these that contribute to a seamless and enjoyable experience for fans, particularly those like myself who may not attend games regularly.
However, no review of a sports arena is complete without addressing the culinary offerings, and in this regard, the Canadian Tire Centre leaves something to be desired. While the convenience of in-venue dining is appreciated, the escalating prices and diminishing quality of the food are concerns that cannot be overlooked. It's an aspect that warrants attention and improvement to truly enhance the overall experience for patrons.
Despite this setback, the energy within the arena was palpable, reflecting the fervent support of fans who had gathered to cheer on our hockey team. There's something special about being surrounded by thousands of like-minded individuals, united in their passion for the sport and their unwavering support for their team. It's an atmosphere that never fails to evoke a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
As the game unfolded before us, every moment was a reminder of why hockey holds such a cherished place in our hearts. From the thunderous applause that greeted each goal to the nail-biting suspense of overtime, every second was infused with adrenaline and excitement. It was a testament to the enduring allure of the sport and its ability to captivate audiences time and time again.
In conclusion, my recent visit to the Canadian Tire Centre was a testament to the enduring magic of hockey and the bond it creates among fans. While there are areas for improvement, such as the culinary offerings, the overall experience was one of joy, camaraderie, and shared passion. It's a reminder of why hockey will always hold a special place in the hearts of Canadians, bringing people together in celebration of the sport we love.

Nice drive out in the country. Parking close by. Nice covered bridge, has been restored with incorrect tipe of timbers and the outside needs some upkeep. Overall scenic location in the middle of nowhere. If you own a cayak or canoe you will enjoy it more.

Beautiful bridge. Our first visit. It was built long back but very well maintained. If you are in wakefield area, it is worth visiting this place.

One of the few picturesque pedestrian bridges left. Beautiful views and paths to explore. It is only accessible by car and parking is extremely hard to find. Worth a visit.

A very special place to visit. The locals are very nice & friendly. A swim under the bridge is a must. I was fortunate to live close by a few years and would watch the sunrise daily in Wakefield. The only issue with this town is it gets invaded by folks from Ottawa on summer/fall weekends and they leave garbage everywhere, plus they lack the tact and decorum of the charming locals.

We decided to drive here and park in the nearby parking lot to walk to the covered bridge. We walked there first I noticed the big flower gardens in front of the bridge with the history of the volunteers. While walking I peeked on one side to take photos and the on the other side with a different view. Plus there was history along the bridge while walking to the other side. I’ve never been here before and it was nice to visit for the day. I would definitely go back again.

The Canadian War Museum is a museum dedicated to documenting Canadian military history. The museum has a collection of artifacts, including medals, artwork, military artillery, and a CF-Voodoo jet fighter. It is open to the public on Remembrance Day (11 November) each year.
This place is wonderful. Very detailed. It covers everything from the early days of the vikings in Canada to modern day conflicts. There is old artillery, arts, medals, personal stories. Give yourself no less than 3 hours to get through it and wear comfortable shoes.

Amazing experience, the place is vast so better pace yourself based on the period you are interested in, otherwise allocate a good 5 to 6 hours to cover everything in detail.
An excellent cafeteria is also available with a treats menu appealing to both kids and adults.
There are a few interactive exhibits as well as a lot of artifact's including an original copy of the "treaty of Versailles", a document crucial to the fomentation of the 2nd world war, Hitler's Mercedes amongst a few others.
A great experience overall.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The cost for entry was very reasonable. The exhibits filled us with emotion for all our forefathers and their families had to go through. Provided us with the opportunity to remember why we get to live with the freedoms we do. The food in the cafeteria was delicious and there was a good choice variety of beverages. We did not visit the gift shop.

Awesome content and displays. Good for kids, best for kids able to discuss wartime historical events. I'll come back and plan for a whole day there. Discounted ticket for Canadian military, but it would be a nice gesture if they also reciprocated the discount like the British do to recognize combat vets of other nations that fought alongside in the same wars

Exploring the Canadian National Museum of War was a delightful experience. As a tourist, plan to spend at least 2-3 hours to fully appreciate the exhibits. However, if you have a keen interest in history, particularly as a student or learner, you might find yourself interestingly occupied in each pavilion, requiring even more time to explore thoroughly.
The museum features several pavilions dedicated to specific periods or wars, such as the Canada-USA War, Early Colonial Wars and World Wars. Each pavilion offers an intriguing and fascinating experience.
The museum is well-connected with the public transport and enjoys a beautiful backdrop as well. Facilities like washrooms, seating areas and a collectibles shop are available on-site to assist your overall visit.

A quick visit to the Canadian National War Museum in early 2023. When I arrived, one of the people welcoming me asked if I'd been there before, and I replied, "Yes, but a long time ago - it was in the old building." "Was that back in the 80's?" "It might have been even before."
On my way out, I ran into her again, and she asked what I thought. I told her that it's an incredible museum - and it is, unmissable if you're anywhere near Ottawa - but that I wasn't sure that I completely enjoyed it, "But that's kind of the point, isn't it?" and she replied something along the lines of, 'Then you got the whole message of our museum, thank you."
Lest we forget.

This is a fantastic museum. Main exhibition hall is split up into different periods and area is extremely well-designed and informative. Lots to see and do for the kids as there are many interactive areas. For example, in the War Games exhibit, they were taught by an extremely patient and knowledgeable member of the museum (Benoit) to play a game where they had to protect and get their supply ships across the ocean - they loved it. One of the highlights was the incredible display of tanks and military vehicles. Glad we visited it and we’ll definitely be back again.

Excellent museum about Canada’s involvement in wars, with an amazing selection of tanks and other ground machines on display. The War Games special exhibit was interesting. The permanent exhibits are a little small and cramped when groups come through, so it is worth visiting early in the morning and later in the afternoon to avoid groups. I found the museum less emotive than other Canadian war museums but still interesting.
The Canadian Museum of History is a museum chronicling Canadian culture and history with an IMAX theater and separate children's museum. The building was designed by Douglas Cardinal and features rippling waters reminiscent of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's favorite place to canoe. The terrace in front of the museum offers spectacular views of Ottawa's most iconic monuments.
We loved the exhibit on First People and the temporary exhibit as well. I wish it was open later as we had to rush by 4-6pm but otherwise absolutely fantastic. Loved every bit of it. Learned so much. A must see! Parking is separate cost and $13 so be prepared for that.

What an amazing way to spend the day! Lots of interesting exhibits representing the history of Canada from its earliest inhabitants to present day. We started on the main floor where the First Nations people exhibit was. Then moved to the second floor which had a variety of items including a whole section dedicated to children’s television programs. The third floor had detailed information about our population expansion from 1867 until present day. We could have stayed there for hours, it was very interesting.

Very interesting museum, I did not get to go through the entire museum because of the time limit. I was distracted by everything I passed and spent too much time on the first floor and had to rush the other floors. I would definitely go back here again next time and try to manage my time better so I could see the entire museum. I'm pretty sure I missed a lot of interesting and amazing displays. 😭

This museum is a must see on Ottawa. It is equally as interesting for adults and children. I would recommend spending at least two hours here. The exhibits chronology go through Candian history and are a great mix of artifacts, videos, and hands on exhibits. Everything is very interactive and it tells a great story of the country. The exhibits also go into individual stories which bring the content to life. Very well done and worth the price of admission.

An amazing museum where you can learn something new every time you visit. They have an awesome children’s area with lots of exploratory and learning activities. My kids love it. They also have an in-house cinema with a super giant screen and comfy reclining seats where you can watch documentary movies.
As of May 2023, tickets cost $21 (adults), $16 (students), and $14 (children aged 2-12). Children under 2 don’t need tickets, and you save when you buy a family ticket ($53 for two adults and two kids). If you live around Ottawa or plan to visit often, it’s best to buy annual membership for $65 (a single person) or $125 (two adults and four kids). With the membership, you also get admission to the Canadian War Museum. Plus, if you visit Toronto, your Museum of History membership gives you free access to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM).

We were able to walk from the Hilton Homewood Downtown suites over to the Museum. We found the museum to be above expectations. The Grand Hall was beautiful and full of Indigenous Totem Polls as well as a walk through interior area full of interesting artifacts and information. There was a truth and reconciliation area which was very powerful and really made us think about how far we need to go to help wrong the past choices. There was just a lovely flow to the whole museum and provided everything we could need. We highly recommend it.

This is a fantastic museum for both young and old. I have been as a child when my parents took me and I have not brought my own children here twice, when they were 7 and 5, then again more recently when they were 10 and 8.
There is a lot to see and do, and you'll likely get tired before being able to see all of the exhibits, so I would suggest blocking off a full day.
The exhibits are very well put together, and while there is lots to read, there are also plenty of interactive activities to keep everyone engaged. Both times that I've been with my kids, there was more then enough to keep them interested without needing to visit the kids section of the museum, which is still worth visiting as there there is still interesting things to see and do there as well.
There are IMAX films available, which are great and are screened multiple times throughout the day. There are also rotating special exhibits also available, which are also amazing, but of course time-limited. It's a nice way to see something different though if you go back for another visit.
A café is available to purchase food, or you can bring your own lunch/snacks and seating is available.
I would highly recommend a visit here. On both recent visits I've had to Ottawa with my family, this has been a highlight.

Pretty good roundup of the history of our country from the first native peoples through to today. Covers everything from totem poles to Bob & Doug Mackenzie. Such an odd and interesting shaped building. Lots of volume of space, fewer exhibits than you might expect. Certainly worth seeing if you are in the area. Not many other museums devoted solely to our country.

We used to take the kids years ago and mainly spent our time on the second floor (kids area) which was very nice and very educational. However, we visited recently and decided to also see the third floor (Canadian History) and LOVED it. Frankly, I plan to go back and take my time looking at all the exhibits and historic details... So much to see and read about. The first floor entails exhibits on the early Canadians and Indigenous culture, and unfortunately I did not have the chance to see all of them. Highly recommended and one of the best museums to visit while in Ottawa.

Visiting this museum was a truly fascinating experience. The exhibits offer a comprehensive historical journey, spanning from prehistoric times to the modern era, providing a captivating insight into the evolution of human civilization in Canada. Particularly striking were the displays of arts and crafts from the indigenous community, offering a profound and amazing encounter with their rich cultural heritage. We also gained valuable insights into the historical interactions between indigenous groups and early settlers as well.
The museum offers a specific section designed for children, although regrettably, we didn't have the time to explore this area. One doesn't have to pay additionally for this section as well.
The beautiful building itself adds to the allure, providing a picturesque view of the Ottawa River and lush green surroundings from the Alexandra Bridge. The front yard offers a stunning view of Parliament Hill, although in our case, this view was somewhat spoiled.
Another highlight of the visit was the collectible shop, boasting an extensive collection of souvenirs. The prices were reasonable compared to other museums, making it a beneficial stop for those interested in shopping for memorable keepsakes. Additionally, there is a café just outside the premises.

Beautiful museum. The building itself is stunning. We got free passes from our local library (thank you!). We spent about 2-3 hours there and most of that time was spent on level 1 (which is where our interest is). The 3rd level we went through much quicker. Limited interactive exhibits for children but our kids ages 6 and 8 really enjoyed the museum.
Parking cost us $13. We went on a rainy long weekend on a Saturday and it didn’t feel overly busy. Would have liked to spend more time walking around outside. Could easily spend a whole day at this museum. Pack a picnic and sit outside and enjoy the view of parliament.

The Rideau Canal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada that was built to protect against war with the United States. The canal is now popular for boaters and tourists who enjoy skating on its frozen surface in the winter.
Amazing canal to walk for a long time during the warm weather and to skate in when it get to be frozen. Sadly not much during the 2023/2024 winter. Thanks to all the NCC-CCN workers for opening the canal for as much as this weather could allow for. I hope next winter stays cold for longer so my family, friend and I can enjoy skating as much as we can.

Rideau Canal - Ottawa.
Two words suffice - an artist’s canvas .
This was one of our spots to be visited during our Ottawa day trip and turned out be most rejuvenating and enjoying.
As we disembarked our vehicles and moved out the tulips on sidewalks were welcoming to the stunning pathway that led us to the over bridge on the river.
As we walked pass the display board, the river and walkways offered pleasing views of surroundings and Ottawa skyline.
Cruise 🚢 rides option available if you can spare 2 to 3 hrs. Else an half an hour stroll across the river bridge and side ways suffice.
Soak in the clean air, soothing environment and well laid walkway along and around the spot.
Enjoy.

My favourite Ottawa playground. Spring, summer, and fall great for walking, cycling, running, and roller blading. There is even road closures on Sundays in the summer. Take it all in with spring tulip festival and manicured gardens. In the winter it's my skating rink. Located inside parliament building at the center of city of Ottawa, this library survived of big fire, which destroyed all other part of the building, on February 3, 1916, a member of parliament noticed smoke in the House of Commons Reading Room in the Centre Block of the parliament building. The fire quickly raced out of control, but as the Library of Parliament had been built with iron safety doors, which were slammed shut against the fire and smoke, and a narrow corridor separating the Library from the Centre Block also contributed to the Library's survival.
The Library’s wood panelling features more than 1,600 designs, featuring flowers, masks and mythical beasts.
The statue of Queen Victoria situated at the centre of the Main Library was carved by Marshall Wood from a block of white marble. It is 3.45 metres tall and weighs about 3,500 kilograms. The Library’s dome measures 47.2 metres in diameter and 40.2 metres from the floor to its top. The galleries display eight coats of arms – seven for the provinces at the time the Library opened and one for Canada.
Public can visit the liabrary, it's part of parliament building tour, a must see at Ottawa, you need go early in the morning, and get a ticket at the visiting center cross the street, there is Terry Fox statue in front of it.
National Gallery of Canada is a large, multi-cultural art gallery that features Canadian and international art. The gallery is located on Parliament Hill in downtown Ottawa. The building's pink granite and glass spires are reminiscent of the ornate copper-topped towers nearby. The National Gallery showcases both classic and contemporary Canadian art, as well as an impressive collection of work by indigenous artists.
I would like to really recommend this place for people.
First of all, you can look at the parliament building at good location.
Secondly, this museum has a variety of art works. Especially,I really liked that this museum had a lot of paintings by famous artists, but not necessarily their most famous works. It made me realize that these artists had also created such paintings, and I really enjoyed being able to see their less well-known works.

I love seeing modern art: not because I like modern art, but because I like to see what can get into an art gallery, and especially what extraordinary description some of these artists come up with. I present the highlights of this gallery: a photo of a paper bag. A white canvas, black lines, and a blue square! Only two colours on a canvas!! A white canvas, absolutely brilliant!!! A pair of pants picked up from the back alley. A wire running diagonally across a room, so insightful? There were deeper, reflective, and historically significant pieces elsewhere in the gallery, but those are boring. I give this a 14 out of 17 black lines, you should visit this gallery.

If you're able to do so, check in your coat so you won't be needing to carry it around when you're enjoying the art in the gallery. it will take some time for you to check out the first and second floor so be prepared to spend about two to three hours inside the gallery.
If you want to check out the shop before you leave, make sure you get to the entrance not too close to the closing time since the shop won't let anymore Shoppers in when is about to close the gallery.

Fun and very interesting place to visit.
It's 60% filled with naked drawings, crazy right?
I loved my short time there.
If you are a student, you get a discount also, and it's just a 10-minute walk from the mall.
I think if you come to Ottawa and want to go to the gallery, you should try this place first before others.
Peace.

It has an incredible and very diverse collection, it tells the artistic history of Canada, in a very well curated way, with divisions by styles and provinces and artists. it also has on the top floor galleries with artists from Europe such as Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh, Munch. tip: for those who are students, just present the proof card that pays the half price.

never gets old. i’ve been going to the art museum since i was very young, i recently went back for the first time in a few years and i had forgotten just how much i love being here. the art is beautiful, it all tells a story of a time that deserves to be celebrated and captured through art. the atmosphere is calming, the people are respectful and the downtown location is great for looking over the river. we bought our tickets at the door, it was $20/person but totally worth it.

It’s a very nice museum. I loved seeing the arts and crafts of Canada’s people over the years. The old paintings were really beautiful and well restored. Even though I am not a fan of modern art, it was still pretty cool. The museum was really big and clean. Really recommend if you like art.

Very well informed guide took us through the gallery to see it's exhibits. Beautiful architecture. Very accessible -they have mobility devices to share if needed. Be sure to check out the Inuit art and keep your eyes on the ceiling!

Fairly well organized and there are plenty of great pieces of art, lots from Canadian history and a good number from Europe and the USA too. Not a fan of the modern art they have but that’s all subjective. It’s in a central location downtown and is a great spot for both locals and tourists.

One of my favourites. Their classical collection is amazing (not posting the pics, but they have Gogh, Klimt, Monet among many more). I love checking out their seasonal collections too, always nice to learn about different movements. Thursday after 5 is free, I usually reserve it beforehand (can be done on the same day)

A must visit place when you're in Ottawa, quite difficult to find parking lot, amazing architect from the outside and you'll be impressed when you walk into. A lot of paintings. Has a gift shop with some nice stuffs. Clean restroom and great view of city hall, church....

This gallery contains a diverse and impressive display of art. Definitely worth a visit if in the Ottawa area, and I would recommend prioritizing a visit here to any tourists. It has art from all over, not just Canadian art, and has pieces from many different time periods.
I went on a Monday, and it wasn't crowded at all.

Great museum with lots to see. Lots of great Canadian history works as well as others. I wish I had more time when I went. We were there for about 2 hours and felt like we rushed through it. I would plan for at least 3 hours to see everything.

Visited on Thursday afternoon after 5pm (the admission is free on this day and time). The museum has a great collection of art from many different periods of time. There are a lot of rotating exhibits as well. The small hall that offers drinks and snacks has a great view of Parliament Hill, and plays contemporary music as well. The seasonal drink was delicious 😋 would definitely come here again!

On the second day of my trip to Ottawa, I allocated three hours here, but it turned out to be far from enough. Just exploring first floor took me two hours. I suggest art enthusiasts reserve at least 6 hours for this place. Apart from the exhibits, the art museum itself is a masterpiece. Definitely worth revisiting. Take your time to savor it. I discovered an interesting detail – everyone tacitly placed stickers on the traffic light poles at the entrance, creating a humorous piece of art.

Huge gallery takes 2-3 hours to fully explore and enjoy the art. Ticket costs $20 a bit expensive but worth it in my opinion the art is fascinating just make sure you have enough time to explore it.

Free to visit on Thursday evenings after 5pm! Get a free ticket online in advance or ask for a physical ticket when you walk in.
There are art activities in the large atrium and you can purchase snacks and drinks from the bar. Lots of art from classical to Indigenous to Canadian to modern. You could spend a whole evening and not see everything the gallery has to offer.
There’s also a free coat check. There will be a long lineup near closing time to try to not leave at the very end if you don’t want to wait.
There hasn’t been a line to enter the past few times I’ve been. They give you a sticker to wear on your shirt or hand in exchange for the ticket. Lots of people stick them up at the lamp post outside at the curb.

An amazing place to visit. The atmosphere and exhibits were exceptional. The plethora of artwork was mesmerizing.
There is a free coat check which was a really nice surprise.
This is a must see when you're in the area. I highly recommend a visit here. Staff was friendly and gift shop was nice.
They should have more stickers I could put on my laptop.
Overall an outstanding experience.

Very expensive entry fee. No veteran pricing. The collection is very good. Food prices are ridiculously high. All in all, I enjoyed the art. But I just made my last visit. Just too much money. Can't imagine the visit cost without the taxpayers money.

Excellent museum filled with Canadian incredible art.
Very easy to get lost, some better navigation would be welcomed.
The chapel and the gardens inside are wonderful addition and a surprise.
This national natural history museum is home to more than 14.6 million specimens and has played a major role in Canada's scientific research program. It is also a patron of various science research programs across the country.
Just visited and they have their “Under the Canopy” special exhibit on right now - the kids loved it. We usually spend an entire day here, even though we’ve been multiple times. Lots to see and do on each level (including the movie that is included with admission - English on the hour and French every half hour). It’s also great that the Cafe is open again as we were able to grab some sandwiches and salads for lunch (they replenish food throughout the day, so if it looks like they’re out, they generally get more later). Such a great museum!

This place is so huge, with so many things to explore that you can easily spend 4 hours there or more.
clean, beautiful, up to date.
There are lots of interesting knowledge filled things to view and read about.
Terrific place for kids: there are interactive stations everywhere... not just computers, but also a binocular station in the bird area, turtle viewers for jellyfish vs plastic bags, touching water creature station, real ice sculpture to walk through and touch.
The staff are so approachable and so helpful. They actually like to help and do so with a smile.
To add to its many amazing features, its also free every Thursday after 5.
Memberships are available and a good deal if you plan to come at least 3 times in the year but keep in mind that will not include parking fees.also you may receive a discount if you're an ingenium pass holder.
I will definitely recommend visiting it.

I had never been to a museum before and I'm so glad this was my first opportunity. This is the best place and it's packed full of information. I loved all the displays and my most favourite was the mammals. They have a breastfeeding room complete with a changing station. It's very hard to find that now a days, the staff are very knowledgeable and super friendly. Thank you!!!

The Museum of Nature is an incredible place to explore and learn about the natural world. The exhibits are well-designed and informative, with interactive displays that engage visitors of all ages. The highlight for me was the dinosaur exhibit, which features life-sized models and fossils that transport you back in time to the age of these magnificent creatures.
The museum also has a great collection of specimens from around the world, including rare and exotic animals.
The staff at the museum are knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to answer questions and provide additional information about the exhibits. The gift shop is also worth checking out, with a wide range of nature-themed souvenirs and educational toys.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Museum of Nature for anyone interested in science or nature. It's a great way to spend an afternoon or even a whole day exploring and learning about our amazing

This is by far the coolest museum in Ottawa.
Probably should have gone during the week, as the place was packed. Doesn't matter though, it was still such an incredible place. Spent over 3 hours wandering the exhibits and was happy to see some of them from childhood are still there!
The building itself is worth the price of admission and take the time to check out the displays on the history of the building at each level of the great lantern.

Wow, what an amazing building, the architecture of the place is stunning. We came back at night to take some night photos.
The good: The price was reasonable for an attraction that realistically would take you an entire day to really take in. The exhibits were interesting and unique. We really enjoyed the Arctic exhibit with the ice presentation that you could interact with. The Owls exhibit was amazing too. We enjoyed everything we looked at.
The bad: Some exhibits had pieces out of order. Their beverage selection in the cafe was meh. We parked at the public parking at the police station area behind the museum as it was the cheapest option.

Well worth it, adults and kids will have a great time. They had live animals and lots of cool displays. The historic building itself was worth visiting. For the people that might think museums are boring not this one. Got a cafeteria and everything is clean. We know for sure we will be coming back during winter season.

Thursday evenings are a win at this spot – no entrance fee from 5-8 pm! It's a 3-story gem, each level diving deep into specific topics. Don't skip the underground insect museum – it's well-designed and seriously informative, especially fun for the kiddos. Heads up, Thursdays are kid-central, but hey, free entrance! Loads of bathrooms and chill spaces. Oh, and there's a cute cafe on-site. Definitely worth a visit!

We are huge fans of this place! We visit it every year and every time we find something that we haven’t noticed before. The territory is huge, with so many things to explore that you can easily spend 2-3 hours there. With the start of the pandemic some activities are closed, but it is still very entertaining for kids. It’s nice that it is free every Thursday after 5. I will definitely recommend visiting it!

Visiting the Canadian Museum of Nature has been one of my best experiences yet. The museum has four floors. Each floor has 2 sections facing each other. The first floor has the skeleton of dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. The second floor shows aquatic life. Other floors show the birds, mammals, and the early man.
There are live creatures, animations and 3D displays which make the exhibits look so real. The videos, photos, and descriptions at the base of each exhibit provides an enjoyable learning experience.
I also visited the Planet ice exhibition where I learnt about the way of life of the Inuit. It is so important to know the role of ice and indeed other elements in maintaining the ecosystem so that we can do our bit to stop climate change.
Don't forget to visit the cafe on the first floor. You can grab something to eat, and also shop for mementos: clothing, mugs, toys, jewellery, games and notebooks! I will certainly visit again with my children.

Very cool expositions although since I came there 1 hour 30 minutes before closing, I did not have time to see all. There is a lot of kids there and a lot of it is made for them to understand. If you don't like children, you might be annoyed.
The building itself is amazing and there is information about its history and architecture.
It's definitely worth the price of the tickets.

With 5 floors of galleries there are a lot of things to investigate. If you want to do everything you’ll need time. We spent 3 hrs and still didn’t get to 2 floors.
They have a good mix of visual and audio information. Only some hands on learning, which we prefer - some galleries have none and others are much better.
Overall, it’s what you expect of a museum. Lots of walking, reading, and learning. The info they provide is easy to understand and you can go in depth more if you want.
For some things we were already knowledgeable in we wish they shared different information, helped bust myths, or gave more general info to help people understand. We enjoyed the dinos the best as the visual really helps understand scale. Wish they had talked more about all the changes that have been made to our Dino understanding in the last 20 years (between when we were in school and now).

Excellent place to take the kids! We saw a special exhibit, roamed the place and ate on-site at the little restaurant/coffee place down on the ground floor. Museum looks like a castle, kids were interested in exhibits and games. All in all, a great day! Will have to come back!

Plan on being here for awhile. We were there for several hours and could have easily spent many more. We definitely didn't see everything
We were here during March break so there was a lot of very young kids running around and the museum was fairly busy. Not sure if it's always busy like this or not so keep in mind some exhibits might take awhile to be able to see them and read the information on them.

I’ve been here a couple times but I never have enough time to check everything out (my fault I can’t plan my time well lol). We had a lot of fun visiting the museum. We saw the bug exhibition. Our group was from ages 3 to 40 and there were interesting things for everyone! I'm glad we went. The entrance was quick. What a wonderful place to explore with curious kids! Lots of hands-on activities, fantastic displays and room to hang your coats and eat your lunch. Their family membership is very reasonable and allows up to six children. Bug display in the basement is always a hit, as is the Earth display with all the gems. We really enjoyed meeting the owls and the Bald Eagle.

My experience here was fantastic, I attended Nature nocturne party here in the evening and it was awesome. The entrance fee was 35$ per person but if you intend on going to visit the museum on a regular day I will suggest you visit the website to know the entry fee. I enjoyed my experience here not only I get to party but also I get to see the beautiful 😍 work of art in the museum of nature. You’re not allowed 🚫 to enter the exhibition rooms with drink or food. Security guards were everywhere. I look forward to visiting again during the day to explore more and enjoy nature.

Great family friendly museum with several different exhibits spread over five floors, ( dinosaurs, wolves, birds, minerals, bugs, mammals etc). There was also a special exhibit on bugs, which was really awesome, with large interactive displays. Overall I would recommend this museum to anyone looking for something to do while in Ottawa.

Visited the museum on a Monday afternoon and it was relatively quiet. While we weren’t alone in any of the exhibits, there was plenty of space to explore and take things at our own pace. I enjoy the variety of exhibits, and was also impressed by the new exhibits which kept the visit exciting. Huge shout out to Julie, and the wonderful lady working at the bistro cafe (whose name I unfortunately did not get) who both went above and beyond and helped make our experience fantastic.
Lac Beauchamp Park is a recreational facility located on the shores of Lake Beauchamp. The park offers visitors access to a sandy swimming beach, as well as canoe rentals and various winter sports. One of the best places for a walk or cycle in Gatineau that's not within Gatineau Park. Plenty of easy trails for mountain biking for those with less experience and plenty of walking space, with the chance of encountering deer as you walk. Unfortunately there can be broken glass here and there, and some patches of poison ivy so be mindful of straying off the trails.
Love the new building that replaced the one that burnt down! Massive indoors and out. Great selection of many things you’d expect (like delicious cheese) and quite a few we didn’t (like in-house Kielbosa) Many many things we don’t see in our regular grocery stores! They also have a little restaurant and gelato/ice cream bar. Definitely want to return in the summer.

On a drive to nowhere in particular, we found and stopped into St. Albert's Cheese factory. Intensive selection of cheeses, meats, jams, jellies and candies and other condiments. Being a nice day, we indulged in poutine. It was huge and delicious with a plentiful amount of squeaky fresh curds. A hot treat! Bought some food items we didn't know we needed and no disappointment in anything. The factory viewing was closed so we'll have to return and watch the magic happen. Clean washrooms and lots of free parking.

I really enjoyed visiting St. Albert Cheese. I bought some fresh cheese curds and ordered some food from the restaurant there. It was delicious! The burger was very tasty and the poutine had a perfect amount of gravy and cheese to fries ratio. The fries themselves were great. The staff was also very kind and friendly. I highly recommend checking them out if you love some poutine and burger! Oh, and curd! Duh 🤦🏼♀️😄

Nice, bright, clean facility.
The shop has a ton of selection to make a yummy picnic, or to load up on cheese. The restaurant has quite a big menu actually.
The poutine was surprisingly disappointing though. Basically soggy fries, soaked with gravy, cheese curd, and bacon on top. The curd was really large pieces nad not melted at all as there was no gravy on it. Regardless, the serving was quite a generous size.
May come back for the ice cream bar, or to purchase curd.

Home of the only poutine-worthy cheese curd (and my favourite marble cheese). Store inside where you can buy a variety of St Albert cheeses, small or big (2kg bag of cheese curds anyone?), as well as an assortment of specialty food. Visitors can go to the 2nd floor for a view of the cheese factory, fun for young children to visit. A variety of poutine to choose from, whether you want a classic style or more toppings (the bacon-topped one uses very high quality naturally smoked bacon. The Montreal smoked meat topping also looks delicious). Variety of ice cream to choose from. Fun destination to go on a scenic trip with family.

Fantastic factory "tour" of the cheese making process. There's a restaurant that sells a mean poutine, and a dairy bar for ice cream & gelato (since they're daily producers). The 2nd floor is very informative and allows visitors to see the actual factory at work.
The store sells the most amazing cheeses, from their incredible squeaky curd cheese to aged cheddars to the best pizza mozzarella we've ever tasted. Prices are very reasonable and you know that everything is super fresh.
Lots of fun and great eats ! Just 1.5 hours from Montreal and about 45 mins from Ottawa.

The prices of cheese in the store are way better than the supermarket. They had a special on (not sure if this is common or not), buy two and save on 270g blocks of cheese. The savings ranged based on the cheese type. I bought 8 x 270g mild cheddar (a mix of orange, white and marble, they were buy two get $4.50 off, which was pretty close to buy one get one free. I also got a medium bag of fresh curd. Paid $37 with tax for all of that, what a deal for fresh and delicious cheese, I’m thrilled! 5 stars for the store, assortment and availability.
I also had a poutine. I read the reviews before I went and have to agree that the gravy should be thicker with some more flavour. But it was an experience to have mounds of fresh St. Albert curd on a poutine and I’m glad I tried it.

In the past the take out food at the restaurant was better. Perhaps a change in staff? The poutine today was disappointing ( as another review below pointed out ).
Curds were great no doubt. Gravy was warm not hot therefore not melting anything. Fries were not great. I think I'll pass and stick to going to La Belle Provence next time instead of stopping in for a meal here sadly.

Drove my family and mother-in-law from Ottawa to the St Lawrence River to watch eclipse and figured we could have a delicious poutine at the famous St. Albert cheese factory restaurant. Had a fantastic view of the eclipse. Arrived at St Albert’s to find they decided to close the restaurant I checked the website on Saturday AND Monday just to be sure I could feed my family after big putting. I would not have been so irritated except I specifically checked and double checked to verify them being open. I will not EVER come out here again. They are irresponsible and I feel they purposely did this to get people in the shop to sell off everything. I’m done with St Albert Cheese

Parc Omega is a natural park that offers visitors the chance to see wildlife up close, including First Nations totems. The park also features an eatery, as well as cabins and tipis for those who want to stay overnight. One popular attraction is the gated golf cart rental, which provides a fun way to explore the park while keeping animals away from cars.
Very nice Safari Park. You can see a variety of Canadian wildlife on a 12km self-drive safari. It is perfect for an activity with all family.
During your safari, you might see deer, elk, bison, caribou and other animals roaming in their natural habitats. You can pick up a bag of carrots at the entrance so you can feed some of the curious animals that come right up to your car. It is a very fun activity. I highly recommend!

I absolutely love this place! We have been before but they have improved and added a lot since we were last there. If you don't want to take your car round you can rent a golf cart with a metal cage around to feed animals. Think its $275 +tax for the day. Gift shop has now moved to the farm area car park. If you have a spare $30 I recommend renting a golf cart to get from the car park to the farm. It's a trail through the woods and super fun! Love feeding the animals and FINALLY saw a moose! Lots of baby animals about too. This will always be our 1st place to take visitors. It is also slightly cheaper to buy tickets in advance. More food options than last time we were there but we packed a picnic and sat with deer.

Awesome safari-like park to visit with family. You can see along your path with the car many pigs, deers, etc. The latter do like to stick their nose into your window, asking for carrots. If you like feeding the deer and pigs , bring two-three bags of carrots (cut in two or three pieces). If there are not too many people in the park, the animals are very hungry. We spent about three hours in the park. Great attraction!

We stayed in the Wolf Lodge and it was absolutely amazing. The accomodations was 2 floors the bedroom and living room overlook the wolf enclosure. Everything was very very clean. It's comes with fridge, microwave, espresso machine. All the eating utensils and dishes you need. Pots pans etc. also a fire place in living room. The wolves can not go up to the glass at this lodge as they do have electric fence preventing them to do so. But still amazing to see them and wake up to them howling etc. the Park itself was pretty cool. It is completely over run with pigs and Elk so your car will get swarmed with both for quite a ways. Took about 3 hrs as we did stop at sector 11. For a bit. We will definitely come back during end of summer beginning of fall to see the other animals and activities

Booked the Bus tour in the morning and it was 100% worth it. Tour guide Clara and Bus driver Dominic were very friendly and informative. Got to learn a lot from them about the animals and their behaviors. The bus tour was about 3+ hours and the same is valid for the day pass. We were mainly there for the wolves and there were lots of them.
Some elks were demanding carrots(which we loved) and might scratch your car so beware if you are taking rental. I've been to a couple of animal park safari before but this one is my favorite.

Even though we went in one of the coldest days it was still amazing! The fun will depend on how much you love animals and would enjoy feeding them, for me it was a fairytale of a day.
There are so many activities I couldn't try and next time I want to explore all the beautiful trails for sure. In the cold we had to warm up in the car almost the whole trip. I'd say definitely plan your trip in accordance with the weather.

As an Ottawa resident, this is one of my favourite places to visit, as it is only about an hour drive from my home. Each time I go I have a brilliant time, and have never regretted making the journey here.
On our latest visit we bought four bags of carrots, which were quickly eaten by the animals. As this was the first time I went during the winter time, I wasn't sure what to expect, but to my happy surprise the park was still filled with animals! I love coming here and plan to come back.

This is a beautiful park, very big with many activities to do throughout the day. The workers are clearly very caring about their animals, which are very well treated. We slept in the pods, which are very comfortable and surrounded by dears. It is a whimsical experience totally worth the price! The workers are very devoted and helped us with car issues, they are very kind and gave an amazing service. We loved our stay there, and will definitely come back!

The perfect place to visit with your friends and family! You can drive through the park and feed the animals and park at a few spots to rest, walk around, eat lunch, and see a farm (you can go for free or rent a gold cart for around $30). You can also buy carrots for $4 at the boutiques, but you can bring your own!

We spent the night in the wolf cabin and we had the pleasure of seeing the entire pack of wolves sleeping under our window. In the morning they were roaming and they stopped by for pictures. The cabin was really comfortable, and clean. The park was amazing, driving through and being able to observe the animals in the different sections. We enjoyed the experience so much that we are trying to convince our friends to join us and rent the bigger cabin so that we all can have the same experience.

Omega Park offers an exceptional wildlife experience, boasting a diverse range of animals in a natural habitat. The well-designed enclosures and interactive activities provide visitors with a memorable and educational adventure. The park's commitment to conservation and animal welfare is evident, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and families alike.

Great place to visit for the family! It’s more of a safari than a zoo wherein you drive around the park to see and interact with the animals!
We enjoyed the experience of feeding and even petting the deers!
Plan at least 3-4 hours to maximize your trip there. Definitely will come back!

My third time going here with my kids. Once we rented the gated golf cart, that was amazing. The kids especially loved it. I recommend you rent it in a warm day. Keeps the animals off the car and from getting damaged by accident from antlers.
We went in winter, fall and summer. All seasons are amazing. Avoid weekends as it gets super busy and cars don't follow standard of staying to the right for petting and left to pass. So you end up wasting lots of time waiting for others to move.
Note: being 2-3 bags of carrots. Don't give them away too fast! Later you have more animals.

A lovely place to spend the time with kids and see the wild animals in open areas. One can drive around, feed the animals carrot and other vegetables as liked by friendly animals. Tickets are slightly expensive, but one can imagine the upkeep of such place and all the animals. Kids love the drive around and had fun with animals. Great place. We had spend around 3-4 hours here, so plan the day accordingly.

Amazing experience.
Please buy carrots 🥕 before entering as we can feed the animals (not all animals, please read sign boards) - 1 bag $4 CAD - (august 2023)
My pictures will speak my experience. Deer , stag, fox , wolf , bison , black and cinnamon bear are few of the animals. There are farm animals which can be viewed with a free tractor ride.

This place was amazing. Great for kids and adults. They are very understanding and accommodating. I have at least one set of parent friends that I'll recommend come here. Be prepared to be off grid and enjoy some time disconnected. Next time, we'll try to book a wolf cabin!

WAY better than I ever imagined.
It’s like a car trail Through a mountainous nature trail with wild animals everywhere. And half way through there is a native village with food, markets, gift shop, fire pits, live music and more deer domestically wandering around you.
You can’t beat this. I’d say it’s one of the best tourist experiences I’ve had in Canada.

It was really a fun experience. Animals are very interactive. Staffs are very helpful and gives really good info. Too bad we didn't see the bears since they are wintering. Overall, very nice place to go to. We love it. Plus they have a really good beaver's tail.

The park was really nice to see in winter. Don't believe everything the ticket seller say. They don't know much. The ticket seller told us that there is no horse ride. But there was and we missed it because of wrong information given by the front desk. Always double check in the information centre. Buy your own carrots from superstore. They sell 4 dollars for each bag of carrots. I think you can get it cheaper in superstores. It's a fun activity for kids. Bears are not available in winter. The wolf feeding was in French. They didn't explain it in English. There was no snow tubing, skating. It wasn't mentioned in website. There is no way to call them through telephone to double check which was very inconvenient.

Our recent visit to Omega Park was nothing short of magical, earning a well-deserved five stars from our family! From the moment we entered, we were whisked away into a world where nature and wildlife coexist in harmony, offering us a unique and educational experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.
One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to feed the wildlife with carrots we bought at the park. This hands-on experience was not only fun but also incredibly heartwarming. Watching the animals come up close, seeing the excitement in my children’s eyes, and having the chance to interact with the wildlife in such a personal and respectful manner was truly unforgettable.
The park is immaculately maintained, with clear signage and plenty of information about the various animals and their habitats. It’s evident that the welfare of the animals and the education of visitors are top priorities. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, eager to share stories and facts that enhanced our visit.
I recommend Omega Park wholeheartedly to families and anyone looking for something different to do. It’s not just a trip to a wildlife park; it’s an adventure that educates, delights, and leaves you with lasting memories. Whether you’re an animal lover, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique way to spend a day, Omega Park is a must-visit destination that will exceed your expectations.

Omega Park is a wonderful destination for families seeking a memorable outdoor adventure. I visited the park in 2019 with my family and we were thoroughly impressed by the experience it offered.
The park's main draw is its drive-through animal safari, where visitors can see a variety of wildlife up close in their natural habitat. From majestic bison to playful deer, the park is home to a diverse range of animals that will captivate both kids and adults alike.
Apart from the safari, Omega Park offers a range of activities that cater to visitors of all ages. There are walking trails, picnic areas, and even a petting zoo where children can interact with friendly farm animals.
One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to feed the animals. The park provides specially formulated food pellets that you can purchase to feed the animals along the safari route, creating a memorable and interactive experience.
Overall, Omega Park is a fantastic destination for families looking to connect with nature and wildlife. The park's beautiful setting, diverse animal population, and range of activities make it a must-visit for anyone traveling in the area.

This is a Great Drive In Zoo where you can find a grand variety of animals such as Bison, Moose, Dear, Wolf, Bears etc.. It conveniently located near Highway 50 and they do have deals at Black Friday if you want to enjoy the day at a discounted price! They also have a sugar shack, boutique and restaurant! Its a pretty cool place to see animal in their natural habitat, or as close as they can make it ! Come check it out !! ☀️🇨🇦🖼

I had a lot of fun at this attraction! Seeing all of the animals up close and feeding them was an amazing experience. It was also nice to see the amount of freedom and space they had to roam around. It definitely looks like they’re well taken care of. The area called “Land of the Pioneers” had cute little cafes to stop and get something to eat/drink. The wolf observatory was a short walk to from the land of the pioneers and it was nice to see the wolves so close. A little tip when you’re visiting, break your carrots into 2-3 pieces so that the animals can eat it properly and you have more carrots to feed them.

Make sure you bring carrots 🥕 with you. Probably 3-4 pounds. Also try to go early in the morning as soon as the park open. Because animals are hungry 😋 after sleeping all night. If you go mid day, they have been already got fed by other people. You won’t be able to enjoy 😉 much feeding them during this time.

Loved every bit about this park. From the deers that roamed freely around our pod (if you staying on the camp site). To the cozy pod itself that was complete in amenities, including hot water kettle for hot chocolate on cold winter day and picnic table outside if you want to eat outside. To the free roaming animals inside the park in your car - some animals you get to feed while others you can't. Plenty to see. To zone 11 where kids can play and release some energy....tree top paths, animal farm, wolf lookout zone, snack bar/souvenir shop, to horse drawn carriage to the parking lot. We stayed for 3 days and had fun every single day from morning to night. Plenty of things to do. Plus a wonderful restaurant that serves breakfast / lunch and selected dinner nights during March Break period. Food was good too. So that's a bonus.

What an amazing experience to be so close to the wolves. We rented the wolf cabin for one night and everything was perfect! Lovely cabin ,very well equipped full kitchen fireplace, simply beautiful!! I would recommend this to anyone who loves nature, peacefulness, and beauty!! We will definitely be back to recreate this wonderful little getaway ❤️❤️
I should have written this review at least 10 years ago, as this is approximately when I tried first time your Lug Tread. At that time it was sold only in few selected LCBO stores in the GTA. I grew up on the best beer brands from old Europe, and I understand what the good beer is, until I tried Lug Tread. Honestly, the world changed for me at that time. I could not believe that a small brewery in Canada can make such an excellent beer. Love you since. Amazing beer, still keep buying 10 years later. Don't change the big bottles. :)

Awesome pit stop. Had some food like chips and sandwiches but maybe there is more on the menu. Patio was great. Nice facilities and staff too.
Oh and Beaus on tap is 100 percent better than cans in store speaking personally. I can't explain it but their beer in house tastes so fresh.

Had a great stop at Beau’s where we sampled some beers in their great brewery/tasting room! They were kind and thoughtful enough to put together a little gift bag of some merch for our baby Beau….a great keepsake!

I picked up your Lug lite at LCBO in Barrie yesterday. Your lug lite beer is really really good! It’s a fresh clean tasting beer with just a hint of gratifying aftertaste that’s great tasting. What a nice surprise. Cheers everyone.

Visited the brewery with some friends, never having tried this beer brand before. They allowed us to tast test & I settled on the Lug tread beer. Liked it so much I purchased a 6 pack to take home. Great customer service.

This place is literally the coolest. I've been to Ottawa breweries and they ain't got nothing on Beau's. Unreal the craftsmanship that went into every single detail of this place. Fresh lumber. Brewing. Beautiful grassy surroundings. Gorgeous inside and out staff. Looking forward to going here this summer to see how it looks when it's not covered in snow! :) go to the store ans check out the gin they dye with flowers from the area. So cool!

I'll be honest, I've never tried their beer. I bought a VKH script hat just because I liked it and it is by far the most commented on piece of clothing I own. Lots of people in Toronto recognize the brand, admire the hat design. I hear nothing but good things, hope to try some one day.

We went yesterday and there where large groups from busses there. Staff was very friendly aside from the one who announced she was doing the last tour of the day (in french) so we went knowing that my other half spoke no French but I could translate. Then on the tour she made him the center of attention of the group saying that it was rude to speak when she was trying to explain the brewing process and if wanted to continue the conversation to go to the other side so she wouldn't be interrupted explaining to everyone else. I get that there was a tour bus from Montreal, and there had apparently been another one from Ottawa however we drove from Kingston picked up a friend in Ottawa only to reach the last tour of the day which was in French which he doesn't understand so to accommodate we went on the tour we drove 4 hours to go on and we translated for him. However that wasnt the question it was a demeaning uncalled for public ridicule. The entire reason we went there was for his birthday for his favorite beer, and that's how he was treated. Notice the rating is a 4 out of 5? Because the rest of the staff where super helpful and crazy courteous. Overall we didn't let one bad seed ruin our experience and we had a fantastic time with the other staff.

Today, Beaus. Need I say more? Beau's had us over for a full tasting and experience at their brewery and it was one of the most incredible brew-day I had in a long time. Laura, their taproom manager was so friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and service oriented, she herself made the experience a 5 star one. The products are amazing. Beaus really worries about the quality of the beers they brew and are very cautious about how the whole process in their facilities. The brewery is impeccable, super clean. Their Halcyon Barrel aged beers are very creative and unique in taste. I am so happy I spent the afternoon at Beau's with my peeps. Definitely a top experience I cannot wait to repeat! Thank you Beaus! Thank you Laura! ///// Aujourd'hui, Beaus. Merci Beaus! Merci Laura!

As a sometimes resident of Glengarry county I was very happy when Beau's opened back in 2006. I still remembering visiting the Brewery back when the tap room was the just a little office and I would sneak into the back to pick out a few posters for my rec room.
These day's the Beau's tap room is one of the most happening and fun places in all of Eastern Ontario. So I was stoked to organize a Beau's Brewery Tour Event for a family reunion last summer. We rented a bus and 40 of us descended upon Beau's on a Friday afternoon. The next 120 minutes was pure pandemonium as the Beau's staff somehow managed to squeeze in two Brewery Tours and a couple of Stein Holding challenges in quick order.
We all had to attend a graveside service later that day and Beau's made sure we were able to make the most out of every minute of our visit! Many in my group rewarded Beau's by purchasing all kinds of T-shirt, hats, posters, and many cases of beer to take home as souvenirs. Beau's also outdid themselves by ensuring the winners in the Stein Holding challenges were rewarded for their efforts. While the family reunion was a great success many family members confided in me that the highlight was our trip to Beau's! Thanks Beau's for taking great care of us!
