Amazing views. This tour was great but we couldn't get as close as they normally do because the ice was still very thick at the beginning of May. Also saw part of the glacier fall off. An amazing trip if you get the chance to go

Amazing views of the High cliffs and mountains either side, barely wide enough for the cruise ship. Ship managed to get to within 1k of the glacier but was so sunny you couldn't see it due to glare. Nevertheless amazing experience to cruise through. You also see icy blue mini icebergs or growlers, floating down from the glacier.

If you have the chance to go through the fjord, definitely take it! Everywhere I looked I would see something so beautiful. Our captain did such a great job navigating through the icebergs, the other ship couldn't make it through (felt bad for the individuals on that boat). We saw so many whales, seals, icebergs, the glacier, a breathtaking waterfall. Such an experience!

We enjoyed the Tracy Arm Fjord. We visited on our way from Seattle to Skagway

We arrived here with a Royal Caribbean cruise. We saw the glacier but not too close. The fiord is beautiful.

We made the trip to Juneau to explore Tracy Arm Fjord. It was an amazing day. The ice bergs were so blue and the glaciers enormous. It’s difficult to tell from pictures how spectacular it all was in person.

Wow what an amazing place. Beautiful fjords . A lot of waterfalls along the mountain cliffs, glaciers and icebergs. We took an Alaskan cruise and it’s in one of our itinerary. Absolutely beautiful..

WOW. We had a perfect day. Sunny and warm. Boat took us to both sides of Sawyer glacier. Had a Glacier-iata. Beautiful landscape and tour. It's worth getting close.

Breathtaking views when you sail through this fjord. It ends in an equally stunning glacier! Well worth it and a must see.

Amazing experience boating through the tracy arm fjord! Highly recommend this experience if you're on a cruise or staying near Juneau. The fjord cliffs had waterfalls with rushing water in early June. Beautiful icebergs, glaciers, and animals.
Monica Herron — Google review
Beautiful fjord. Some of the prettiest landscape I have ever seen. I cannot recommend it enough. We went after a rain, so there were waterfalls everywhere. If you can get a tour boat into the fjord, take the opportunity. It is worth it.

What a magnificent glacier! Even it need over 2 hrs to reach but worth it👍.
Compared with few months ago ,we could see how different there are.
Tour was safe, exciting, and relaxing all in one. Saw lots of Alaska wildlife, ice, fast river water and beach exploring. Fast stable jet boat with lots of room and comfortable seating. Great view of a massive and active eagles nest. Crew was informative with many years of experience in the area, all eager to share the history and ever changing dynamics of the Stikine River flow. Glad to have chosen Alaska Vista Tours.

We could not have been happier with our incredible wildlife tour. We spend an hour following a pod of 3 whales bubble feeding while the captain educated us on what they were doing and how to tell whales apart by their tail markings. Then she quickly took us to see otters and sea lions, and of course we spotted a bald eagle to top off the excursion. Everyone was in awe of my pictures of the whales - they were awesome because we were so close up.

Had a great 3 day adventure when in Wrangell with them. Day 1 was out to the anan bears, day 2 they arranged with Alaska waters for the Petersburg/Laconte glacier, and day 3 was sitkine river with another glacier!

Very friendly tour operator. Very knowledgeable of the area. Nice 3.5 hour trip to see Shakes Glacier.

We did a tour to see LeConte glacier and it was fantastic all around. We didn’t book the tour for ourselves - it was facilitated through a cruise company, but we would pick Sylvia and team for sure ourselves if we’re lucky enough to come back to Wrangell or Petersburg. The jet boat driving was great fun, the area around LeConte is so special and our guides were kind and insightful and just great people to get to know. We actually lost an important document and they went out of their way to help us sort it out. We’re really glad we got to be on their tour! Dankeschön :)

A must-do trip if you’re in southeast Alaska. We took our own boat to the floating dock and walked the trail to the viewing platform. We went the day after the permit season ended, and we’re the only people when we arrived at the site at 9am. More people and the bears arrived around 9:30. The guided tour groups made a sign up sheet for people to take 15 minute shifts in the photographer’s blind and everyone was cooperative where that was concerned. We stayed about three hours. We only saw black bears, and didn’t see any while hiking on the trail.
Shelley Johnson — Google review
Whatever it takes to get here, do it. It’s so surreal that it’s akin to another planet. The bears are fascinating to watch and the eagles are plentiful! Harbor seals, otters, salmon, black bears and brown bears are everywhere you look! Unless you work for National Geographic you will never be this safely close to nature again. Do not bring small children who are loud.
Katy Rudie — Google review
Most amazing place. Saw a lot of bears feeding on salmon. Many bald eagles were there to eat the scraps. Also saw a mamma bear with her cub. They have a blind that you can go down to creek level and take pictures. Some bears are within feet of you when they walk around the observation deck.
Nancy Robertson — Google review
The trail is breathtaking and very well maintained. The guides were knowledgeable and gave out interesting information. The place is magical.

We loved AnAn observatory. Fun watching bears in nature hunting salmon and feeding. Best time is late July when the salmon are coming in droves to spawn.

I loved it seeing all the eagles too many to count, the 🐻 bears were so close you could almost touch them, on the trail there was a mama and her cub it was incredible 👏 I will do it again! It was a dream come true!

Most wonderful places to go to see wildlife in the actual wild! Rainforest was beautiful!!
Located on South Tongass Hwy, approximately 2.5 miles south of Ketchikan, Totem Bight State Historical Park is an incorporated Tlingit village with 475 residents. The park features a traditional clan house and totem poles from abandoned villages around the Southeast that have been restored or recarved in the 1930s.
A unique walk to experience the history of Alaska Totems. The park had authentic pieces and some pieces made just for the park. The park is very picturesque. A great place for couple and families. Bring rain boots and umbrella just in case, it rains more than 200 days a year in Alaska. I was luckily enough to go on a day it didn't rain, which was the 1st of 8 days. Our Tour guy was very knowledgeable and allow plenty of time to ask questions and look around on your own. Definitely a must see.

Relaxing tour of state park containing many totem poles and replica of a native lodge. Our guide provided a great deal of information and history.
Thomas Robustelli — Google review
Nice relatively small park with great views by the water. It was very easy finding the city bus stop from the cruise ship terminal which was only about a 5 min walk. $2 each way and the city bus drops you right at Totem Bight Park. There's a machine (looks like a parking machine) that takes card payment for the $5 park admission fee. Nice short forest trail about a 10-15 minute loop through the park. If you walk a bit past the entry to the park you'll come to a large gift shop with a small museum. Definitely worth checking out.
Nat A — Google review
Lovely little park. You can walk the whole thing easily in an hour and look at all the neat totem poles and learn about the native cultures.
Navid Poulad — Google review
Very interesting and informative, the art work on the totem poles where amazing specially considering the tools they used. The old cars were cool too
Alfonso Rubio — Google review
Nice place to visit! The park is well maintained, and there a bunch of huge totem poles to look at. We didn't go inside, but it was nice to see the outside and get some pictures. We had a tour guide (Highlights of Ketchikan tour), and I recommend getting a tour when going to this place. I think it gives a better appreciation and understanding of the totems.
David Nagel-Nunez — Google review
What a great location! You walk through a peaceful forest before getting to a opening full of totem poles and they are marked with numbers that you can find on your guide to read about them. The grounds are meticulously kept. The clan house is just awesome. You walk around the grounds and can even get a bite to eat if the salmon berries and blueberries are ready, oh and they also have raspberries! There is also access to the beach for those of you the beach comb.
Melinda Rodgers — Google review
We took a bus to the site. There was not a park ranger, just a box with a suggestive donation of $5. There were self-guiding maps. The park had seen better days, but it was still a nice stroll and informative. We enjoyed it. Then we caught the bus back to town.
Rachel Lake — Google review
Very beautiful and stunning. Enjoyed learning about the totems. The gift shop and museum inside were really great as well.

Fun historical place to go. Only a $5 entrance fee. Totem poles were amazing. Also includes a museum and gift shop.

Our tour guide from Ketchikam Native Tours was a beautiful woman named Syd. She is married to a Tlingit Man who carves Totems. I'm adding this here because She was Amazing. She drove us to various sites and knew history we would never learn unless the guide was deeply involved with native traditions. This Park is full of history and beauty. Just walking among the Totems you realize that all things in nature are important. It's not only how you use nature, but how you return it back to itself. The meanings of the Totems, the characters on them, the colors and even the placement of where they are all have meaning. I really enjoyed this Park, the history and what it represents. If you are spiritual in any way, go here you will not regret it.
RA! — Google review
This is a small place. You'll probably visit this on an excursion with your cruise ship. Our complaint was our guide was young, new and very rough with her driving and not good with time management. This however, was not a takeaway for the park. It's quiet, interesting and shows the culture and history of the area. They have bathrooms, a rather large gift shop with friendly staff. You can learn a lot of information on totem poles, their meaning and values here. Though, I'm not sure if you would get as much information without a guide as there are no plaques explaining things. We actually learned most of it by listening to another guide 😏. If you have the time, it's worth the look if you want to see and learn about totems. There's nothing else in the "Park" so if that's not your thing, skip it. We did this as part of the city tour /lumber jack show.
Dana Burns — Google review
The totems were awe-inspiring. Our guide told us much about the designs and how they were erected. Saw totems being restore and went into the lodge replica. Saw a bald eagle very close and fireweed. Worth every penny.

We were in Ketchikan port for the day and rented a car. This is a must see with lots of history and the totem poles are spectacular. So glad that there is an effort to restore these unique work of art with stories surrounding them.
Catherine Hunt — Google review
Very cool park that captures a core piece of American history - by honoring the Indigenous communities who crafted these stories and telling the story of how the art of crafting and repairing these stories has also been maintained. I wish there was more interpretive signage, but overall a must-visit.

Lovely place to visit. While some may enjoy the official tour, we liked walking around ourselves and reading the signs. Don't miss the tide pools!
Carly Barnes — Google review
Great state historical park in Ketchikan, Alaska . The presentation of the two native tribes of the area and the stories behind the totem poles was excellent.
Brianna Miller — Google review
We came here with a guided tour via our cruise company. We learned which each totem pole represented. It was very interesting. We got to look through a window and see the man who made many totem poles working on his last one, and teaching his apprentices. It is a short ride from the terminal, and if you are looking for something that doesn’t take long I suggest you go. You could also come on your own. It was not too crowded dispute multiple cruise ships in town. There is also a gift shop with items. We got a great deal on two hooded sweaters, buy one for $10, get the second for $5. The workers in the store were friendly and attentive.
When visiting Ketchikan, a trip to Creek Street is essential. This unique boardwalk runs along the slope next to Ketchikan Creek and is lined with charming shops, cafes, and restaurants. It's also a prime location for observing wild salmon. The area exudes an adorable fishing village vibe and is dotted with historical buildings that add to its allure. While exploring the wooden street, visitors can enjoy picturesque lookout spots and learn about the area's history through well-placed placards.
Beautiful walk around the creek. Lots of stairs so keep that in mind for anyone that has mobility issues. You can still see a good portion of Creek St without having to go up the stairs though. A few cute stores at Creek St but mostly walked around to see the beautiful landscape/creek and salmon.

Great little place to walk around and browse the various shops in Ketchikan. If you take a cruise line and it stops in Ketchikan you'll probably find yourself right at Creek Street.
Creek Street itself is pretty small, but there are quite alot of shops along the way - plenty of places to stock up on Ketchikan and Alaska goodies. Prices at the shops seemed pretty reasonable to me too (usually these types of shops seem to fetch high prices for their items).

Very cool, historical fishing structures along a beautiful creek. All the structures and I’ve been turned into cute little shops that are fun to go through.

A must-see if you're visiting Ketchikan. This is a piece of history that not many know about and it's worth the experience. Lots of shops along the wooden street including some historical buildings. There's a couple of lookouts spots along the street that are beautiful as well.

Free to browse, adorable fishing village vibe. Massive wild salmon swim in the creek. Many historical buildings and placards describing them are well placed.
E. Dominic Black — Google review
A quaint area with a seedy history. Great for a wander along the raised board walk on wooden pilings over Ketchikan Creek. The area houses shops, restaurants, Dolly's House Museum and private dwellings. There's also a Salmon Walk from the northern end of Creek Street, marked by the Yelatzie Salmon. In salmon season, it is fascinating to watch the salmon ascend the fish ladder. Our visit was preceded by unusually heavy rainfall and as a result, there were large numbers of dead salmon (very sad to see) on the banks of the stream, creating a rather offensive smell!

You can see salmon running here. Great stairs and views of the creek.

Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary is a stunning nature reserve that offers guided tours and is famous for its abundant wildlife, which includes eagles and bears. It's an enjoyable experience for people of all ages, with informative and entertaining guides who point out various animals such as salmon, seals, and bald eagles. The sanctuary boasts a surreal forest with breathtaking views at every turn. It's highly recommended to bring a rain jacket to fully enjoy the adventure.
You're really missing out if you don't get this adventure. Will and Savannah made it such a memorable experience. They were kind, quirky and funny but most of all they were safe! Beautiful long zipline runs. Right over the top of wildlife! Then a nice cozy gift shop.

We went on this excursion/ tour from our cruise ship in early May 2023. The weather was great. The tour guide was knowledgeable and did a decent job of answering questions throughout the tour. If you love trees , shrubs, and moss, then you would likely rate this tour higher than I have chosen to.
The biggest issue I have with this tour was the cost or value of the experience. On this trip, we have done many cruises for similar price scales, and this one seems quite high for the experience you get out of it.
The highlight for us was definitely seeing the eagles that were on location. They had a bald eagle, a golden eagle, and a Great Horned Owl. These animals are absolutely majestic. And we're beautiful to see up close.
The totem poles and totem artist are also a neat thing to see at the end as well.

Fantastic guide hike through a wonderful sanctuary. Our guide, Loki, is super knowledgeable , funny and personable. I learned a lot about the local plants, trees, mosses,…time well spent. Oh, the Eagle!!!

We had a great tour while we were in port on a cruise. The company picked us up at the Ward Cove terminal and we had a private tour for the 4 of us. Amy was our tour guide and she did a great job. She was fun, informative and engaging. While on the tour we were lucky enough to see several wild eagles We stopped by the Raptor Center and got an up close look at a Bald Eagle, Red Tail Hawk and a Peregrine Falcon, while learning more about the work of the sanctuary. We ended the tour speaking with a local craftsman continuing the heritage and culture of hand carving totem poles. After the tour we had the option to return to the dock or get dropped off in town. This is a great operation run by a friendly team. Thanks to all, especially Amy!

We booked the excursion through our cruise ship for black bear tour. Highly recommend, we had a wonderful experience! The elevated boardwalk helps you get close to the bears without disturbing them or feeling unsafe. Our guides, Elijah and Fletcher, were very knowledgeable and had bear spray! Very close encounters with birds who cannot be released into the wild who are taken care of at the raptor center. Brief talk by a Native totem pole carver who has beautiful totem poles and shares about his family’s history of carving.
Highly recommend this experience and would definitely go again!

Fun for all three generations of our family! Our guide, Redd, was informative and entertaining - pointing out seals, salmon, bald eagles soaring through the trees and nearly EVERY type of banana slug. Easy stroll through an otherworldly forest with amazing beauty around every corner. Highly recommended for all ages. Pack a rain jacket and enjoy!
Jessica Vanoni — Google review
Claire and Captain Annie did a fantastic job. Nature walk to Glacier was beautiful. Whale watching was amazing. Got video of whale breaching the water and many tails.
Gregg Hubbard — Google review
We visited as an excursion booked with our cruise line and it was billed as a nature and totem park. It was an excellent visit and we loved it.
The guide pointed out lots of local plants and trees etc, and the forested area is beautiful - it’s located about 20 minutes from downtown, and just up the road from George Inlet.
The absolute highlight was seeing several Black Bears from the elevated boardwalk - a mamma bear with her Three (!) bouncy baby cubs, and later another bear in the wooded area (the guide said her cubs would also be nearby).
The bears all come to the estuary area to catch the salmon who are returning to the salmon hatchery where they were spawned years earlier.
Bear sightings are not guaranteed.
The visit ended at the Totem Park where we met a native man who carved Totem Poles. There is a collection of Poles in the yard each with their interesting descriptions & story.
This is an excellent “compact” tour / visit where you can learn about Alaskan native plants & trees, learn about totem poles, stand next to a bald eagle inside it’s cage … and possibly see wild bears!
Highly recommended!

We visited as part of a cruise excursion. Our guide was great! So knowledgeable in helping us identify the trees and made the life cycle so interesting. The walking path and the pace was easy. Included was a pass through of a bird sanctuary where a guide was there to tell us about 3 birds they had outside. And ended up at the totem poles and gift shop. We were able to see a few salmon and a black bear. My Merlin app sound identified several birds that would be "lifers" for me.

Holy cow!!!! This place was off the charts cool!!! We walked on these bridges over the rainforest bed. We had been walking quite awhile with no bear sightings and then BOOM we had bear! But I have to say that before we saw the bears, I was truly soaking up the gorgeous views of the moss covered rain forest. The trees are so insanely tall and the streams and waterfalls are so beautiful and peaceful. But, yes, getting to see the black bears was incredible. They would swim into the water, put their snout in the water and boom they had a salmon in their mouth! Then they would take it over to a rock (aka table) and feast. And then repeat over and over. Such an awesome tour. I highly recommend this company.

We visited the sanctuary today and it was a magnificent experience. Our tour guide, CARTER, was fantastic and I would recommend him to anyone! He was knowledgeable, passionate about his work and took his time to ensure that we didn't miss a thing. He found a banana slug along our way and was patient to ensure that everyone had a chance to get a photo. I had to take 2 since my first one was a little blurry. We also experienced Eagles, salmon, and deer in the wild. Thank you Carter for making our experience memorable and sharing your binoculars!

This was our first excursion on our Vancouver to Seward cruise and we had a great introduction to Alaskan weather (quite rainy) and a lot of information about local plants and animals from our guide, Reese. I really enjoyed seeing my first bald eagle in the wild (first photo) and then a close up intro to the birds from the Raptor Center - Sitka (bald eagle), Owlison (great horned owl), and Qigiq (snowy owl).

Hi, my name's Travel Nurse Gary. I've traveled all over the United States as part of my job. I want to take a moment to talk about how cool this tour is. As you can see from the photos, the Misty Fjords National Monument is so beautiful. The boat is huge and nobody was seasick from our group. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable of the environment. The captain took us off the route to watch a Humpback whale breach 3 times before diving. Warning: it is a rainforest and rains 300+ days a year. So be advised that sunny days like my photos aren't always an option. I live here in Ketchikan so I picked a perfect day to go.I want to give an estimate of 4 hours total round trip. On the way home a snack of Clam Crowder was provided and it was delicious. I also noticed that many people on the tour had adult beverages. The concession stand is available. Free coffee, hot chocolate and tea for guests. I brought my own water. Loved this tour and thank you to everyone at Allen Marine Tours for this tour!

Beautiful, beautiful scenery. We flew in with a small float plane when the weather was perfect, so we got great views of the rocky mountains surrounding this lovely fjord. Our flight also landed and we are able to take in the lush greenery close up. The area gets lots of rain, hence a lot of vegetation. And with the plane's engine off after we land, you can take in the calm waters and scenery in perfect stillness.

The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, established in 1994, serves as a protective park and conservatory for grizzly bears and their offspring. The sanctuary offers guided tours that take visitors deep into one of the fjords on the coastline of British Columbia near the Alaska border. Along with spotting grizzly bears with cubs, visitors also have a chance to see other wildlife such as humpback whales, dolphins, sea lions, and bald eagles.
Visiting the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary was on top of our bucket list when we visited Prince Rupert on the North Western Coast of British Columbia in Canada. We booked a half-day ferry ride to the sanctuary with Prince Rupert Adventure Tours which takes you deep into one of the fjords on the coastline of BC, very close to the border with Alaska. We spotted grizzly bears on two occasions and one was with a cub. We also sighted a humpback whale, dolphins, a sea lion and bald eagles, and these sightings were equally thrilling. It's a 'must do' if you happen to visit Prince Rupert in Canada.

It was by far the perfect end to an amazing holiday and the wildlife seen in one day was incredible. It was late summer and i took the ferry from Vancouver to prince Rupert which was amazing in itself. Hotel overnight and went on adventure tours early morning for the full day trip to khutzeymateen. We saw at least 10 grizzlies, some with cubs just lazing in the water and strolling along the beach, hundreds of seals, several large pods of killer whales swam alongside the boat and showed off their babies, playful humpbacks, a lone wolf, bald eagles everywhere and a moose. Not to mention the scenery was sublime and the air as pure and clean as it gets. Five stars was not enough for this adventure of a lifetime.
Marie Van doorn — Google review
The Sanctuary is great and definitely worth visiting but consider how to go there. We took the Prince Rupert Adventure Tour. It was expensive and with a big boat-100 people. The crew was very friendly and tried to entertain us but as always there were some screaming children and tourists that don't know how to behave. They scared the bears and it was impossible to view them. If you have a chance go there with a small zodiac boat

Food options are not the best for this voyage and we actually stopped at the supermarket in Port Hardy prior to sailing for some healthier options in our cooler. The trip was lovely and we saw the sunset, sunrise and whales!!

Shout out to Maureen and her staff at the Port Hardy terminal office!!! I can't begin to express our gratitude in helping us get to Prince Rupert this past Monday. Maureen is an awesome person to deal with and truly an asset to BC Ferries. Thank you Maureen and thanks to all the great staff at Port Hardy. Keep up the great work

Fun scenic trip from Prince Rupert to Port Hardy. The Northern Explorer was clean and comfortable. We were glad to have reserved a cabin, which had twin beds with sheets and a comforter a bathroom with a wonderful hot shower. A nap felt great after the 5:30 am arrival for the 7:30 am departure. The 16 hour trip was pleasant, the crew welcoming. There were plenty of comfortable chairs available and good views from various inside and outside deck areas.

My favorite way to travel to the south coast! It is a must do once in your life if you get a chance. I have done it 4 times and it is very relaxing. It is not cheap though, especially if you have a larger family. I usually take it on shoulder season to save a few bucks...

Heading to Prince Rupert? This is a beautiful trip through the inside passage. I would recommend clothing for rain/mist and reserving a cabin. The food is terrible on this ship (and you'll have 2 meals) -- bring your own -- anything is better (and what many others do). Hot/cold drinks are OK. The captain will announce any sightings of marine animals.

Beautiful voyage, and definitely worth the splurge for the cabin with a window. I didn’t want to get off the boat when we arrived at our destination. The poutine is delicious.

Nice people. $22 to camp in line after checking in. Sleep in extra half hour as opposed to lining up at gate at 5:30

The inside passage is one the nicest ferry trips in the world. All day long one is treated to a magnificent scenery. Whales and killer whales, bald eagles and small fishing villages. There is lot to see during the trip.

Prince of Whales - Whale & Marine Wildlife Adventures Telegraph Cove
Saw orcas, porpoises, and so much more. The orcas were showing off and having an amazing time jumping out of the water, splashing, rolling -everything! The porpoises surprised us by coming out of nowhere and swimming with the boat weaving in front and beside while racing it - woah! Great tour - was worth it!

Wonderful experience! We saw orcas, humpbacks, sea lions and eagles. Our guide ( I think her name was Valerie) was just amazing. She was knowledgeable and very passionate. Also funny and she was throwing jokes around, I really enjoyed the whole experience. It’s worth every dollar!!!
We had actually booked bigger boat but last minute we were told it’s broken and we had option to switch to Zodiac. I was little bit afraid because we booked bigger boat for reason- my boyfriend’s parents are older and we wanted more comfort for them (washroom and less bouncy boat). However I’m so happy our tour went with Zodiac after all!!! It’s smaller boat and it feels you can get little hit closer to wildlife (compared to bigger boat). Also it feels Zodiac is more maneuverable and faster! We were lucky enough that our guide also brought pro camera and after our tour she shared amazing pics with us…
Like I said- incredible experience from beginning to the end. Thank you very much!

Amazing experience! Great tour and very nice that you don't need to take your own pictures but they are provided after. That way you can enjoy the whole boatride. Quite expensive though.
But overall definately worth it.

Excellent customer service during the booking process. Awesome guide who was safe, knowledgeable and friendly. He was from England, but I can’t remember his name. There were 12 of us in a zodiac that started in telegraph cove. The guide took us a ways out where we found and watched a female orca with her baby as well as a male orca. We then went closer to shore where we watched 4-5 humpbacks spouting and diving. Amazing! We did get hit by rain which made the high speed ride parts of the trip quite miserable despite the fact that we were wearing survival suits. I wish I had worn waterproof boots, wool socks, warmer clothes and even goggles to keep the rain out of my eyes. There is no protection on the zodiac from the elements so be prepared for rain and wind! I would recommend this tour company for whale watching.

Zodiac Tour with Scotty was amazing we saw a few humpback whales, Orcas, dall's porpoise, springing salmon. I definitely recommend this tour. These memories stay forever.

We went for an evening zodiac whale watching tour and it was fantastic! Our guide Connor was quite knowledgeable, had a great attitude and was happy to answer all our questions! He pointed out lots of awesome wildlife and definitely went the extra mile to ensure that we saw lots! We saw multiple humpbacks, some porpoises and dolphins, an eagle and it's best and even a sea otter! We sat at the front of the zodiac and it was super fun bouncing in the waves! Also, they supplied a great suit that kept me dry and warm, but I would recommend mitts and a toque/ear covering depending on the temperature and time of day! And my stuff and feet all stayed dry!

Absolutely incredible and breathtaking experience. Valarie and Rebeca were amazing guides and hosts, and the captain too! I wasn't fast enough to get pictures of all the whales we saw, but thank god that Valarie and Rebeca were because they caught some amazing stuff. I would highly highly recommend this tour, it was worth every single penny and if I could do it over and over again I would!

Very kind and knowledgeable staff. We saw many orcas, 2 humpbacks and some dolphins. Everything we could've asked for and more. They also took some of their own photos and send it to you after for free which is great. Thanks !

We had a fun tour! And our guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot about the animals and the environment they love in - very interesting!
We were a bit disappointed though because we were there to see orcas and didn’t see any. We saw a few humpbacks but from very far.
I guess that’s nature, but if we would have known that the chance to see them was low, we would probably have skipped as we’ve been lucky enough to have seen a lot of humpbacks in the past.

Awesome whale watching tour we had with Prince of Whales during our Island trip. The staff was very friendly and informative. The Ocean Magic II is awesome boat for whale watching. Kids friendly. We were able to spot Dolphin, Hump back whales, and the icing on the cake was when the captain went extra mile to chase Orca, we were the first to watch them in 2023 season. The whale watching is best done in Telegraph cove and with Prince of whales only much recommended!!

Negative: Very pricey , wont get too closse to the whales. (I would recommend binoculars)
Good: Saw some humpback whales, sea lions , harbour seals and sea birds. Atleest all the money goes to a cause , it helps the whale research center. And our guide was really nice and explained very good ! Overall it was a nice experience.

Great day on the water. A bit chilly at times, but that can't be controlled.
The staff in the storefront were friendly and helpful, and our zodiac driver Scotty and James were great. Very informative and found lots of humpbacks for us to see. Too bad we were too early for orcas, but we'll just have to come back another time.

Connor was an exceptional guide. Well spoken and knowledgeable, we were given a fantastic tour of the area accompanied by multiple humpback whale sightings along with explanations of their activities. Additional sightings included dall’s porpoise and over 25 bald eagles that had just finished feeding. A wonderful surprise was stopping to see a nesting bald eagle feed its eaglet. I highly recommend Telegraph Cove and specifically Prince of Whales for whale watching tours.
Stemcat Pup — Google review
Our 3-hour tour with Scotty ended up being closer to 4 hours, sure to the overwhelming number of sightings. We caught up with five orcas within 10 minutes of leaving the dock, then after spending a good while watching them, we went to another spot, maybe 10 mins away, where we found about a dozen humpbacks. Then we played in a group of white-sided dolphins. On our way back, we came across a ton of Dal's porpoises, and then we checked out a haul out of Stellar sea lions. Along the way we found about half a dozen sea otters as well.
Scotty was incredibly knowledgeable, and was able to identify the orcas and most of the humpbacks, and shared their stories with us. Very informative, and all told work a storytellers flair. It was an experience of a lifetime!

Highly recommended. We went with Scottie who is quite knowledgeable about the marine life in the Telegraph Cove region. You can sense his loe for wildlife through his introductions.
We spent 3.5 hours at the sea. It's a good value because the experience is unique.
We saw so many wildlifes today. A pod of four killer whales. We also saw many humpback whales and sea lions etc. They are quite playful! The weather was perfect today at 20+ degrees with lots of sunshine.
North Island Kayak guides were very personable and informative. The water was very clear and we saw more than we expected for marine live. We completed the 8 hour tour, which was excellent. I would definitely recommend using this tour company!

We went on a wonderful 3 day 2 night trip with Mateo and Shail as our guides. They were both so hardworking, patient and fun. They made it a great experience for everyone on the trip - no matter their interests or level of experience. We learned about the local wildlife and had many opportunities to see porpoises, seals, whales and even a pod of orcas. Our guides brought extensive knowledge about the local flora and fauna and answered our many questions. The food was next level - pizza, salmon, breakfast burritos, etc. The base camps were comfortable - roomy tents, thick sleeping pads, sheltered dining areas and even heat lamps at one site for chilly nights (!!!). I would recommend North Island Kayak to anyone looking for a kayak trip where you can let the professionals sweat the planning/prep and you can just paddle and enjoy your vacation without any stress.

We did a 2 hour tour with our guides Luca and Cathrine. We absolutely loved it. The guides were very skilled and respectful of both the nature and us. We saw seals that swam past us and a sea lion. The guides were very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

We did a half day tour of the Bausa peninsula and Johnstone strait with Brett, our guide. It was a phenomenal day and we saw eagles, a sea otter and multiple dahl’s porpoises on our journey. Even if you are an experienced paddler, don’t hesitate to go with a guide so you can learn more about the marine life and history of the area.

We went for the half day kayak and it was great! Our guide Luca was fantastic, he had a great attitude, he shared lots of knowledge and was happy to answer any questions! It was a beautiful experience to be on the water enjoying the nature and getting to see all the intertidal creatures! We saw lots of beautiful sea stars, sea urchins and even a couple of curious seals! Thanks again!

Such an incredible experience with an amazing crew. Did the 3 day kayaking trip and just had a great time.
Physically it wasn’t bad at all. Food was so good, they really outdo themselves in this aspect. Scenery was stunning. The guides were super knowledgeable and a joy to be around.
Highly recommend this trip to anyone and will be taking family here when they come to Canada.

Just back from a perfect 4 day trip with our amazing guides Vince and Thuom. From the first meeting everything was friendly, fun and professional. High quality, new equipment - everything from the kayaks and paddling jackets to tents and oh so comfy thermorests at base camp. Base camps are well equipped, we were thrilled to arrive at each one. Oh and the food - delicious - with a lot of care to make it fresh and interesting even packed in a kayak hatch!
We had a variety of weather and paddling conditions, our guides made sure we were properly equipped for conditions each day and safety was always number one priority. Their knowledge of local water conditions, as well as local wildlife and history was amazing. And yes, we got to see 3 humpbacks, a mom and calf plus another one getting up close and personal off our sterns in Blackfish Sound, a truly once in a lifetime experience. Dolphins, porpoise, bald eagles in abundance, sea lions, seals, sea stars, urchins.
But mostly the guides made our whole, very diverse group feel welcome, safe and comfortable and that we all had a fantastic time. Can't wait for my next trip!!

Spending the day on a sea kayak in telegraph cove has been a dream of mine for some time. North Island kayak made that dream come true! My friend and I had the best day drip! Our guide was so amazing and so knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to see tons of wildlife and stunning weather! Couldn’t recommend this company enough. Will definitely be back for a multi day trip!

We were so fortunate to have booked on a not so busy weekday and there was just the two of us on a 3-day tour. The weather was kind to us too, it was gloomy but did not rain, we liked it better than sunny and hot. The water has been calm as well. Brie our tour guide has spoiled us, she makes good food. She made sure we are comfortable, secured and safe in our boats. She had a lot of interesting stories to tell from past camping and wilderness experiences. A very likeable person who is also knowlegeable about marine life and the geography of the island. Very exhausting but at the end of the day you get to sleep in a comfortable cot, a warm sleeping bag and a tall tent that my 6’2 man can stand up straight😀. Lucky for us too we heard and saw a humpback whale in the far distant blowing water and we saw his tail as he dives back in the deep water. We also saw a deer walked in front of us while we were sitting around the fire, saw a mama bear and two cubs up a tree and saw how a raven grieved over a lost mate. The marine life we saw while paddling are all a first for us and you can never get this close to marine life, only in a kayak. Definetely was an awesome adventure you should try!

Great! If you are reading this review wanting to know if kayaking with North Island Kayak is a good idea, let me tell you that it is a great idea. Me and my girlfriend went along for the day trip, which left from Telegraph Cove. The price is very reasonable considering you get a knowledgeable guide and you are not just renting the equipment. The tour itself left around 10:30am after doing safety briefings and getting all the equipment needed organised, we were back out of the water around 4:30pm. We went out with Alicia who is the "best guide in the world" as far as we were concerned. She was very friendly, showed relevant knowledge about the wildlife and answered all questions with good humour. She was also able to keep the group motivated when the wind picked up and a couple of people were struggling against the head wind. I think in total we probably did around 14-15km in the boat. I think if you are reasonably fit then it should be no problem to do the day tour, though I must admit that my muscles were sore the next day. While we didn't see any Orcas, we did see some Dall's porpoise, bald eagles, Sealions and lots of other smaller sea life. It was a great day out and a highlight of our holiday.
Fantastic day! We saw it all! Humpbacks, orcas, sea lions, harbour seals, tons of sea birds, a black bear and of course grizzlies! Janeen and Nat were great hosts and naturalists who shared so much information about local wildlife, bears, the environmental and living in the area. Highly recommended.
Lisa Elbertsen — Google review
I had a really wonderful special day taking this tour, but also had to alter my expectations once I realized better what to expect. The drive to Knight Inlet was just wonderful and the early morning lighting was fantastic. It does take two hours but I thoroughly enjoyed myself watching everything from the back of the boat and learning interesting things from the naturalist (although it's hard to hear if you end up in the back seats inside since the boat is quite loud - tip: Next time, I would bring earplugs to put in at times to reduce that noise over the course of the 8 hours because it was really a lot for that many hours). We were able to watch a mama black bear for a bit on the coast as she meandered around and that was really wonderful. What I didn't understand fully was that the area where they take you to see the grizzlies is a bay where you dock your ship, stop for an hour to eat your packed lunch and then get on river skiffs only to go on them for about five minutes as you cross a very short distance. Then you park near the sand and have one hour to view any bears that might be in that one area feeding. I had been under the impression the bear viewing was going to entail a longer time going up river on the skiffs instead of just parking them (again five minutes from where you dock the boat) and waiting for an hour in one spot. Once I reset my expectation about this aspect I enjoyed looking at the scenery and a beautiful bald eagle that was sitting in the mud close to us. We weren't lucky enough to have any bears that you could see with the naked eye (you could barely make out a mama/younger one way back using binoculars). Once we got back on the boat you could tell many of us were feeling a little discouraged but we did see some amazing marine life on the return trip back. A huge pod of very fast moving Pacific White-Sided dolphins, a small group slowly swimming, Orcas and a Humpback whale. Our captain and Naturalist tried really hard to find those and give us time to enjoy them which was wonderful. So overall if viewing this as a full day of marine life/scenery with perhaps a bear if you're lucky tour....it was a magical day. I think they might do better to market it more like that rather than focusing on the grizzly bears since this is one hour of the entire time and in such a limited way that you'd really have to be lucky to have them in that one area right during your hour of viewing time. They did offer us a no-bear certificate which we can use to come on another trip which was very nice and I appreciated it. I'm hoping to try again in the Spring when it sounds like they might be more active feeding on the sedge grass in that area and I will now know what to expect and approach it as only one little aspect of the day and what I might see.

This tour was fantastic! Our naturalist was educated, well-spoken and friendly. Our captain was professional, competent and friendly. We saw 3 grizzlies, a pod of 3 orcas (what a bonus!), and lots of sea lions and porpoises. Highly recommend, must-do excursion in an absolutely stunningly beautiful spot. The full day was money well spent.

We had an awesome day with Ishbel and Jean-Luc (sp - sorry guys)! An early start to get out to Knights Inlet, and arrive at Glendale cove. Despite initial quiet on the waterside, we were treated to the matriarch, Lenore, who graced us with her presence for a full 2 hours! As Ishbel spotted her quickly, we were first there to ensure prime viewing allowing for some awesome photos. Lunch was delicious, and filling. On the way out, while we sadly saw no other bears, we came across humpback whales and seals (as well as numerous bald eagles), which capped off the day.
Overall, highly recommended. Both guides are extremely knowledgeable and this tour is well worth your time. As an added bonus, it sets off from telegraph cove! Be sure to check out the viewpoint on the blinkhorn trail before you leave.

I highly recommend this tour company! We had to make some changes due to bad weather at the end of the season, which they were very accommodating. We seen around a dozen grizzly bears in Knight Inlet as well as stopped and checked out a foraging black bear on the way. The tour guides, James and Mike were absolutely fabulous and not only went above and beyond, being super informative and down right awesome, they took us whale watching on the way back and we seen at least a dozen humpbacks! It was a trip of a life time and I couldn't be more impressed with this tour, especially since I'm not really a 'tour' kind of person. Thank you so much Tide Rip Grizzly for making this company trip one to remember!

I brought a group of friends to Rodgers and was not disappointed.
Beautiful country, excellent fishing, knowledgeable local guides, and delicious food. Supper easy to get there from Seattle using NW Seaplanes dock to dock service. We came back to the states with 120lbs of fish each!
George DeFilippo — Google review
Like many others I was supposed to go fishing in Aug. 2017 when Rodgers suddenly closed and my reservation was rolled over to Aug. 2018. First day of Aug. 2018 I got an email saying “operations were suspended. Email:
We have had an emergency situation come up and we regret to inform you that we are going to have to cancel your trip. If you file a claim with your credit card company you will receive a full refund...........thank you............Doug Rodgers..........Please confirm that you got this email
He is basically saying that I need to file a claim against my credit card for failure to deliver. He is not going to refund anything. Contacted my credit card company and they said that they will refund my money but only if Rodger’s files for bankruptcy. Appears that he is keeping my money, shutting down only to reopen next year. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO BUSINESS WITH RODGER’S.
David Caywood — Google review
Doug Rodgers is either senile, or a swindler, I’m not really sure which. It has been three years since I visited. My experience mirrored those of others .... seemingly intentional non-communication, indecipherable billing, wrangling with my credit card company to straighten it out and reverse some ghost charges. We left a day early and Doug couldn’t (wouldn’t ?) even give us a summary of our charges. At the time there was a dynamite female manager who was contemplating buying the resort from Doug Rodgers, and the potential for a turnaround seemed good. Apparently she too must have realized it was an insurmountable scam as it sounds to be unchanged. DO NOT SHARE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION WITH THIS BUSINESS.
Mark Laurnen — Google review
I fished with Rodgers last year at Esperanza, first time with Rodgers, first time in Canada. My advice is stay away from Doug. Once he gets your money communication is all but cut off, hard for questions and planning. The balance of your money will be charged to your card before you arrive giving you little recourse. Jim, our guide was wonderful and his wife Sue made excellent hosts. The recommendation to bring 120 qt coolers is all BS, you will not catch that many fish. The Canadian fisheries are under pressure just like they are in my PNW home that makes spending this much money not worth the cost. Study your possession limits and slot requirements if you do go.

I booked a trip with Rodgers for this year (Aug 20-24th) Rodgers billed my credit card $7100 August 6th (quoted 3000 each for 2 people - charge should of been 6000)
August 9 I received an email from Rodgers saying the trip was cancelled due to the wild fires and a state of emergency. When I googled they had been under a state of emergency for six weeks. They were under a state of emergency when he billed my card. Three days later he cancels the trip. I reply about a credit at the time I received an email, no answer.
No one is answering phones. A few days later I get an email that he does not know what to do , I replied the trip was cancelled please refund my money. Today, one week later I leave a voicemail (No one has answered since I made the reservation)
I immediately get an email they will keep my money till next year (No thanks especially after reading other reviews) Or they will mail me a check....I guess now I sit and wait and wait for a refund. According to another man I spoke with on yelp review he never got his money back. It was VERY easy for Rodgers to charge my credit card but he cant issue a credit??? Scary!!!!

The lodge is definitely in need of updating. The rooms are clean and nice and the manager is friendly and efficient. Food was very good (and more than enough) though nothing spectacular. Boats are older and in some cases unsafe. Guide quality varied from excellent to poor. Some guides didn't clean their boats for the 5 days we were there, others cleaned them religiously. Location is good, fishing was pretty decent though weather was rough. Not sure I'd go back again.

I have fished 3 times in the past with them and it was good.
They charged my credit card by "mistake" in June and didn't reverse charges. Promised the proverbial check in the mail.
I too was booked for a trip 20-24 August which they cancelled. No word from them about a refund.

I want to give this -100 stars! I am a frequent traveler and an executive in the health care industry. I have never written a bad review in my life.... until now. I am writing this as an honest review to warn anyone who is interested in this place to be aware that this business has been suspended and they are unable to meet their operating capitol. I want to make sure no-one else falls victim to this scam. This is the single worst experience I have ever had. Please, DO NOT EVER BOOK A TRIP TO RODGERS FISHING LODGE!!!
We booked a trip at the end of May and Doug the owner immediately charged the credit card for the full amount - about $7000 for a 3 day fishing trip for 4 people and that included the seaplane flights out to the lodge. We never received any booking confirmation, no receipt and no communication after that payment. About 10 days before the trip I called NW Seaplanes in Seattle (the company it says they use on the web site). I was told there was no reservation ever made for us. I called the lodge and spoke to the office manager, Dan who was friendly, but not too surprised to hear and did ask that Doug (the owner get in touch with us) A week later with phone calls and emails every day, we still had no flights that had been booked to the lodge. And still not a phone call fro Doug or anyone at the lodge with confirmation information. Today - I received an email asking us to change our flights from Denver to Seattle to Denver to Vancouver (5 days before we are to leave - we are supposed to buy another set of airline tickets to another city?!!) otherwise he suggested we drive from Seattle to Vancouver - a drive I have done before and it takes about 5 - 6 hours with traffic and border patrol)That would have used two of the days we had paid to fish. Still no phone call from Doug, rather tonight I received an email from him:
"This is an incredibly hard email to write to you because it is all about the credit processor that we use which is called First Data Canada. Apparently there is a daily limit on the size of the deposits that we can make with First Data and yesterday we exceeded the daily limit and they put our account on hold until they can review these transactions. We have been doing over $400K a month with First Data and this is the first time that we were aware that these daily limit guide lines even existed. To make a long story short we are going to have to suspend our operations until this problem is resolved. This situation has put us in the very difficult position of not have sufficient working capital to carry on our business. We had no idea that this was coming and we apologize for the inconvenience that this is going to cause you. If you file a claim with your credit card company for the monies that you have paid to us you will be reimbursed in full. Again, we have been in this business for 37 years and everybody that has been touched by this unexpected situation will be fully reimbursed for the monies that they have paid to us. Your claim with your credit card company will be that you have paid for services that you have not received and you will be 100% reimbursed. Again I am really sorry for this situation but this is something that is out of my control.........thank you.............Doug Rodgers"
So how will I revere the other monies I have spent - $700? Now I have time off work, airline and hotel reservations made that are not refundable 5 days before I was to leave for this fishing trip with my son. Words cannot begin to describe the disappointment, complete lack of professionalism and total money scam that this place is.
I have never seen a business run like this or had an experience like this and I have traveled all over the globe. The way this was handled is an absolute disgrace.

If you can make it out to Gold River to take the ride to Yuquot...DO IT. Amazing crew, beautiful boat and the scenery along the ride and in Yuquot is absolutely stunning. To the "Tim" type reviewers and those that leave less than a 5 star review for this experience with no explanation, I feel bad for you that you have no clue how to absorb such wonderful experiences, especially to the "Birthplace of BC"! 4th time going today, and can't wait for the next trip!!

We are so glad we did this, got to see some amazing places that you will never see any other way. Now with that said you need to be a patient person, It is after all a working vehicle and there are a lot of stops where you just sit there dong nothing for 30-60 minutes. Most of our stops was to Salmon farms. I don't really see kids enjoying it all that much. Food was good and at a reasonable price. Wild life was great, saw seals, sea lions, a wolf, eagles hunting, and just about every kind of bird you can think of.

This was a fantastic experience. We took the trip to Friendly Cove/Yuquot. The crew is friendly. The ship is historical and comfortable to ride on, and the galley serves tasty food. The tree- covered mountains of the channel are gorgeous and restful to view. The ride is relaxing, allowing for friendly chats with other passengers. We were fortunate to see a pod of Orcas along the way. At Yuquot we enjoyed meeting master wood carver Sanford Williams and eating blackberries along the trails. Service in the office is beyond accommodating-they squeezed us in even though we made a mistake on our reservation AND they helped us get dinner reservations at a wonderful restaurant in Gold River.

The Nootka Sound is a hidden crown jewel of BC! GetWest Adventure offers a variety of day trips around this area, aboard the UChuck III cargo ship. I went on the Friendly Cove Day Tour (Saturdays) and had a terrific experience. It is a 3 hour cruise from Gold River to the lighthouse and First Nations settlement in Friendly Cove. Tuck into a hearty bowl of chilli from the ship's galley while you admire a backdrop of alpine mountains, deep blue water, and lush islands.
Hot Springs Cove, previously known as Refuge Cove, is a small community situated on Sydney Inlet in the Clayoquot Sound area of the West Coast of Vancouver Island. This unincorporated settlement can be found on the western side of the Openit Peninsula and is home to natural hot springs that attract visitors from around the world. The region boasts stunning scenery and abundant wildlife, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.

I'll never travel to Tofino without this trip planner again
Strathcona Provincial Park, the oldest and one of the largest parks in British Columbia, boasts a massive natural area with snow-capped peaks, valleys, lakes, and plateaus. It offers ample opportunities for outdoor activities like backpacking, paddling on inland lakes, mountaineering and mountain biking. The Buttle Lake campground has 85 sites set in forest or on the lakeshore while Ralph River campground has 75 sites.
Terrific park! We went to the Mt Washington section of it and did the short hike to Lake Helen Mackenzie, the trails are all very well marked and well maintained. Not a lot of bugs, but bringing bear spray might be a good idea.

A beautiful campsite but it's close to the highway and diesel pickups going up the hill. Sites are well spaced. No services or facilities.

Truly breathtaking experience, the beauty of this places almost seems magical, so many hiking trails for all levels, a bunch of beautiful waterfalls to explore, unfortunately the day was cut short cause I had tripped and broke my ankle but can’t wait to return to explore more of the hiking trails 10/10 recommend

Great park to visit. Lots of campsites around, Lower Myra falls are amazing. One of a kind site.
Ralph River campground is stunning, MASSIVE old growth trees throughout the site, warm lake water, cold river flowing, great sun exposure. 10/10

The beauty of this park is amazing! Nature at her finest!
Unfortunately, the campsites are extremely, extremely infested by mice! Their destructiveness, despite careful storage and cleaning, really put a huge damper on the trip.
Park rangers are friendly, but 50/50 when it comes to being able to give useful information. (One really helpful, two of them not as knowledgeable)

This place is incredible, I did Crest mountain the other day and the views were mind blowing. There was almost no one else on the mountain saw 4 other hikers and it feels as if you're in another world on the top , and there is thick forested mountains all round it looks as if you're in Peru or somewhere like that. Highly recommend it , not many people seem to go there either which is surprising considering it's unbelievable.

Strathcona Provincial Park, located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, offers a breathtaking blend of rugged mountains, serene lakes, and lush forests. As the oldest provincial park in British Columbia, established in 1911, it encompasses a vast and diverse landscape. During my visit, I was mesmerized by the picturesque Della Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in Canada. The hiking trails are well-maintained and offer varying degrees of difficulty, catering to both casual hikers and seasoned adventurers. The Forbidden Plateau, with its rich history and stunning views, was a personal highlight.

Elk Falls Provincial Park and Protected Area is a nature park in British Columbia that offers various activities such as hiking, cycling, swimming, fishing, picnicking, and playing in the playground. The park surrounds the impressive Elk Falls waterfall which drops almost 85 feet down into a deep canyon with steep cliffs and a pool at the bottom. Visitors can explore the old growth Douglas fir forest or go fishing for trout, chinook salmon or salmon in the lakes.
Beautiful area to walk around, great for having a snack or lunch and just listen to the water. Such a great day to get put and experience all the wonders of this amazing island 🏝. Not too bad of a walk/hike less than 5km for sure. Whole family loved the day, fresh air and exercise. I highly recommend this location 👌

Just outside Campbell River. What a gem! Nice, enjoyable walk in. Warning for those with mobility issues.....there are quite a few stairs just before the falls/bridge. For me, a little nerve wracking to cross the bridge.....but glad I mustered up the courage! :) Beautiful scenery!

Absolutely stunning waterfalls. The hiking trails are well maintained and easy to manoeuvre. You can close to the water which is nice. A must go to for anyone looking to see waterfalls or a good hike.

Absolutely amazing! The waterfall itself is so beautiful and then the added suspension bridge let's you view it from above and different angles and the thrill of being so high up above the canyon. The path is well maintained. You can't use a stroller only because there are a lot of stairs leading down to the lookout and suspension bridge.

Not a bad place to hike since when I went there it was kinda wet so if you come just be a bit prepared incase since it may be wet there. The views there are amazing and it’s really amazing. On the other part of the park is the suspension bridge which is really fun to go on but kind of scary at first but if you go there you gotta go on the bridge otherwise your missing out.

Awesome place for a short day trip. The walking routes can be short or longer depending how much you want to do. Some big redwood trees scattered in here, was nice to see since i couldn't get to cathedral grove. Waterfall is awesome, can access the rapids and there is a "rock beach" at the top above the rapids where its almost dead still. The water is cold and delicious! There is a safe spot at the top of the rapids to access water where there is current so its fresh. Glad i decided to make the trip to Campbell river.

Just a stunning well maintained park. Very walkable for all abilities. Every corner you turn there's something else gorgeous to look at. The old growth trees were my favourite.
So much more than I would have expected! Full sized dioramas of a float home, cabin, hotel, not unlike the RBCM. One of the first logging trucks - so interesting. Great collection of indigenous masks and other artifacts, though interpretation in that area in need of update and expansion. In other areas interpretation concise and digestible. Good use of limited space.

They built this place hoping the cruise ships would dock here, alas those guys never got the memo, there were 8 people visiting in the 2 hours I was here. Interesting collection of native American artifacts, and a selection of films to watch in a small theatre. If you are interested in learning about the history of the area this is a must see. I had no idea they used massive explosives to blast an island to clear a navigation choke point. Watch the ripple rock video, it's a BLAST, literally. Sad to know Canadians used .50 Calibre Browning Machine Guns to kill orca "whales" (dolphins really) once upon a time. Equally sad is how racial minorities were treated here in the early 20th and 19th century. The "iron chink" exhibit and the WW2 Japanese internment exhibit shows stark contrast with today's vibrant multiracial population of BC. How wealthy would First Nations tribes be if they owned the leases to all the buildings in Vancouver. Great exhibit on how they "lost it all".

Mount Washington Alpine Resort, located on Vancouver Island, is a popular skiing destination that offers both downhill and cross-country skiing. In addition to skiing, the resort also has hiking trails in the summertime. It boasts excellent powder and high snowfall levels, making it one of Canada's top ten ski resorts for powder according to Ski Canada Magazine.
Beautiful! We did the tubing and the children had lots of fun. Went twice, first time on Easter Friday and was really busy, only got to go 4 times in an hour. Went again mid week and managed to go 10 times in the hour. Lots of great food options and can take your own food as well which is a bonus. Lots of water fountains to fill up water bottles.
David Deacs — Google review
The views up the mountain is so scenic. Lovely views anywhere.
However, a lot of confusion happened on our first tubing experience. I bought our ticket during their promotion and called their office for reservation. I was told to just show my electronic reservation and come on time due to COVID-19 protocols. But when we were there this holiday, the resort is so chaotic. Lots of people and no signage to tell us what to do and where to go. It was hard for a first timer.
Good thing I saw one staff and point us out where to go. However, the electronic bar code wasn't working on me. An I.T came to help on my dismay, still not working.
Referred me again to a different booth. It was really confusing and stressful.
Finally, another staff assisted us. She is so kind and very helpful. She helped us with our predicament. Point us to another booth, but didn't live us there until another lady got us a ticket.
Gratefully! They changed our schedule because we were 15 minutes late to our original schedule.
Nevertheless, we had so much fun with our 2hour tubing experience.
Next time skiing when they're not so busy.
Hopefully, they will fix their website. And put information that could help first timer.

Be sure to check out activities ahead. We stopped in on our way through and experienced a mountain bike race. Had a chance to take the lift up to the peak! Was breath taking. Only sad thing when competition was on... we could not take lift. Means the entry we paid was pricy for one ride.
Weather was cooperating: sun, no wind, clear view all around. ❤
Andrea Paris Real Estate — Google review
We came for two hours of tubing. The first hour was wonderful with a steady flow of people going up and down the hill. The second was the last hour and a number of people who hadn't booked walked in - there appeared to be a malfunction in the entry gate. It made the line very long but the staff did their best to manage it, including multiple announcements about only riding if you had a timed pass. And a second lane operator was added. Thanks guys for doing your best and making it fun!

Overall a great mountain to visit.
Aside from skiing and snowboarding there are trails for snowshoeing and hiking that are solid and easy.
Most of the staff are cool and enthusiastic, with the dumber tourists and visitors wearing down some of the staff's outlook on humanity. Good place for beginners to learn how to shred snow and get comfortable enough that one day, they, too, can snicker at the long line ups that inevitably occur at every mountain lift.

I would give more stars if there was a transportation from Courtney to the ski resort or a hotel to stay. Restaurant’s menu is very limited.
Staff who work at lessons and rental are super nice and helpful and I should give 5 star to them but the resort doesn’t provide any facilities for us driving all the way from Victoria. Finding a place to stay is difficult and expensive.

Workers are very friendly, good restaurant menu and plenty of space for being the only ski resort on Vancouver Island. Plenty of parking and they seem to keep the place clean .

A nice place for skiing and snowboarding, very family friendly. Rental available for both skiing and snowboarding. Make sure to book your pass before arriving, rental and pass may sold out if you walk in. Book early (before Dec) to get an early bird deal. Highly recommend the Mt Washington app, you can see the Trail Map and plan the trip based on your ski level. Only giving 3 stars due to the lack of parking, couldn’t find a place to change unless you book a room in the resort. Will comeback for another trip

Once you've traversed the Verdun-like parking lot you have 20 minutes to offload, wrangle the kids into their gear and retreat through no-mans land to a parking spot. But instead of enemy fire you are greeted with the smiles of the hosts. Clad in yellow jackets these marvelous humans ensure a seamless negotiation of tickets, rentals, restaurants and routes. Their smiles compensated for the snow conditions that ranged from the equivalent of a DQ slushy to a DQ blizzard. Great resort with awesome views when the weather cooperates and new years was a jol with fireworks and night skiing.

Despite having a below average season, the team has done an above average job of keeping us skiing and boarding. Hats off to the groomers and snow makers for keeping us going and the instructors for keeping the kids stoked.

I love this place!! The slopes, magic carpet and runs are all easy to access. Parking is free and plenty. Ground level check in so no need for long line ups to get up. And the staff are all so friendly and happy to help. Everyone is happy here! They are soo good with my kids. We were totally new to skiing but now the whole family including my 4 years old loves skiing. They offer lots of discounts and freebies as well.

Seasons passes may or may not work at the lift on your first trip of the season. The line at the ticket office may or may not be over an hour to get aforementioned passes checked. You may or may not have difficulty finding parking on the weekend.
Many runs may be inaccessible on a powder day, unless you wanna risk it for the biscuit. The views are excellent.
If you go to the restaurant, I would not recommend the chicken burger or quesadilla, even to someone I am not fond of. The fries seem like a safe bet.
Would I miss this mountain if I moved off of the island? No. But at least we have something.

The temporary closure of Highway 4 significantly impacted, for example, Port Alberni, Tofino, and Ucluelet residents. CTV News Vancouver Island and other media have reported that the Cameron Bluffs Fire in the eastern part of Port Alberni has caused the closure of Highway 4.
The Cameron Bluffs Fire will likely pose challenges and tragedies to residents, visitors, families, friends, and firefighters in the affected areas. It is a stark reminder of the often devastating impact of fire. Please be cautious when extinguishing flames and never leave campfires unattended, even after restrictions are lifted.
Though fire incidents are negative aspects of life, they can allow regrowth and visiting parks can significantly improve your mood and help you connect with positive emotions. It can also assist in coping with challenging days and reconnecting with supportive individuals. The stunningly beautiful old-growth forests in Cathedral Grove are a testament to this.

Seal Bay Nature Park is a vast and well-maintained park that offers forest trails for wildlife watching and waterfront areas for bird and seal viewing. It is an ideal location to spend quality time with the family while taking a walk in the forest. This park is accessible throughout the year, with every season offering its unique surprises. Children can enjoy a fun rope swing located close to the water, while visitors can also admire seals from afar.
If you like longer walk through the woods, this is the park you need to discover.

It's a magical place with huge, ancient trees by the Pacific Ocean. A bald eagle welcomed us, followed by herons, sea otters, colorful starfish on the rocks. I learnt about a new animal that I haven't heard of before: geoduck. The beach was full of them! The Rainforest Trail is a must-visit spot in Tofino, featuring a wooden boardwalk and gravel path that wind through a lush forest of cedar and hemlock trees adorned with hanging mosses. The trails are well-maintained and developed, offering visitors the opportunity to take in the beauty of the large trees while breathing in fresh forest air.

This is a beautiful and awe inspiring walk. We did the A loop as the B loop was closed. The trail we walked on was all laid out with a beautiful wooden boardwalk with steps up and down the hills. So there are no muddy trails and it is an easy walk. The old growth forest is incredibly lush and you could see the new growth sprouting from fallen, old trees that had decayed and allowed the forest cycle to continue. Breath taking scenery!

Exceptional walk in the rain forest. You’ll have 2 trails available (one on each side of the road, A and B). Parking is on the B side, which you’ll have to pay for (21$ for a group or 10$ per person). The all walks goes on wooden paths and is relatively easy. Some of the trees are gigantic.

This place is like a other world! Reminds me of New Zealand! So pretty, so fresh and peaceful! Be prepared for a lot of stairs. We'll maintain boardwalk throughout. We just hiked Trail B and it took about 45 minutes with stops.

This was so tranquil and beautiful! I went on a lovely morning and there was not another person around so I got to enjoy all of the nature and wonder to myself. I love that the trails are all walkways to not disturb the forest and living areas for all of the wildlife in the areas. Pristine and natural and allows you to immerse yourself in the environment.

Beautiful trail. It is one of the busiest trails in the area, but early morning before 8am it is deserted. Lush and old landscape, entirely on a deck platform. It took me about 25 minutes to complete trail B loop. Very easy, some stairs but nothing crazy. Dog friendly on leash. One of the highlight is the bridge made out of a huge tree trunk. Theres also a huge tree where you can picture yourself next to it.

Lots of space for a family picnic. Include children play areas. A public washroom is also available there. Not specific parking for park but street parking available. Mostly crowd in the park at evening time. Food shops are available around the park. Superb views.

Clean and lots of information. Tons of parking, conveniently located at the entrance to pacific rim park, right between Ucluelet and Tofino.

We were proudly told all the locations that were closed after I asked for special events. It was like pulling teeth. Dark dinghy place. No significant merchandise for sale.
Rather off putting than welcoming.
A missed opportunity for the community.

Visited late October 2023. The visitor center is just okay, there isn’t much in terms of interpretive displays. The staff guy was friendly and helpful and provided some maps and suggestions, but this place is perhaps a 10 min stop at most. There is a small gift shop section with a few shirts, books, etc.

Nice spot for a bathroom break! Safe location to put your car if you want to carpool somewhere for a bit.

Helliwell Provincial Park is a small yet impressive park that offers various scenic views throughout its easy hiking trail, suitable for individuals with different physical abilities. The park boasts beautiful beach scenery, lush trees, and an elevated walking trail by the cliffside. Visitors may even spot some seals by the Northeast corner of the beach. During winter, the Sequoias showcase their breathtaking beauty amidst the snowstorm.
The coastal life...this was a beautiful park to walk in. The actual hike is 5km (1.5hours) but if you roam off, it will be longer. It is quite exposed for most parts. Quiet and serene throughout this hike and only bumped into other people twice. So much to see and explore here - absolutely beautiful. No fee to go and outhouses available not frequently but enough.

Stunning walk! Absolutely beautiful and easy. The cliffs and ocean front scenery are unique.

What a beautiful place!! Amazing view for forest and ocean. Hike pathway is clear and it’s almost 5 KM length which you can spend 1.5 hours from the start to the same point at end. A little steep but easy to walk but you need to watch for small children and also for dogs. If you’re in Hornby island, you must do this walk.
Hassan Makhlouf — Google review
Visited this park after a huge snowstorm. The Sequoias are breathtakingly beautiful, and there are some large trees in this forest. Beautiful beaches with lots of nice rocks and shells.

One of the most beautiful places in British Columbia. Very well maintained walking trail around the park. It takes a little over an hour to do the full loop. Dogs are welcome but it’s best to keep them on leash because of the cliffs. Multiple outhouses in case you need to go.

Beautiful spot to visit. It was a very short trail to see one of the beautiful ocean views in Vancouver Island. The trail loop is around 5km, if you wish you could complete the loop. It is a sudden steep cliff close to the ocean so ensure to follow the trail path.

It's a very small but awe-some park with varying views along an easy hike (accessible for almost all levels of physical ability). It had great beach views, trees and a cliffside walking trail. We even saw some seals while walking along the beach on the Northeast corner of the park.

Highlight of our trip to Hornby! This is a MUST SEE! Easy walk through the park but the views are breathtaking! It was a lot of reward for not a lot of work. We had adults, older kids (9-11) and younger ones (5/6) and everyone loved it. Don't miss it!
Ania Kruger — Google review
It takes approximately 90 minutes to walk the circuit through the woods and then along the cliffs overlooking the ocean, other islands and mainland although if you stop as often as we did to take photos it may take longer. The walk is not difficult although there are some areas where erosion has worn away the surface of the path making it rocky. There are steep cliffs with dangerous drop off areas so parents need to carefully supervise children as well as ensuring that they stay on the marked path. At spots you may see wildlife in the water or on the rocks (we saw sea lions and humpback whales blowing in the distance towards Texada Island). Visitors are asked to stay on the path to protect the fragile ecosystem. There is an outhouse style washroom in the parking lot as well as part way along the walk. The views from the cliffs are spectacular and the trees on top of the ridges are a photographer's dream thanks to their wind carved, trunks and branches. This is a truly wonderful place to go to appreciate the beauty of coastal BC.

Beautiful walk, fairly flat, but watch for loose rocks on the slopes. The cliffs are spectacular, but no guard rails, so watch your step.
Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park preserves the Horne Lake Caves, a renowned attraction on Vancouver Island. The park offers opportunities to explore a network of caves through guided tours ranging from moderate to advanced levels. Visitors can embark on self-guided expeditions in the Lower Cave, Andres Annex and the initial 20 meters of the Main Cave.
This was our first Caving experience and it did not disappoint. Our cave guide Alex was super informative and funny as well. There was plenty to learn on the hike to the cave, as there was inside of the cave. It's not just a walk in a cave and feel that the pricing of the cave tour was fair, considering the amount of information the guides have. (We also got lucky with their Spring Break promo!) We will definitely be back to try the multicave adventures and the more intermediate experiences. Thank you for the experience! Definitely one of the highlights of our Spring Break!

We had so much fun on our Horne Lakes Cave Tour with Ryan. We aren't cavers but do play in caves when we can and the two cave tour was perfect. I would rate them as easier caves to visit and explore with some fun elements to keep you on your toes and they are full of beautiful features. Our Guide Ryan was engaging and a pleasure to spend a few hours with. I would definitely recommend these programs and I would go back in a heartbeat. We went in early December and there was snow on the ground but the trail system was well maintained and easy to travel on. I really enjoyed the two cave tours mix of walking in the forest and time spent in the caves.

It was my husband and I’s first time experiencing caving and it will definitely not be our last! Hiking at Horne Lake Caves was such a fun experience. We did the Multi-Cave Experience and the difficulty level would be 3/5 stars.
Our tour guide was awesome - So hilarious and entertaining. He kept us feeling secure & safe and explained every step to take thoroughly. There was also a little bit of hiking involved. We went when it was slightly raining but that made the experience all the more fun!
We 100% would recommend this adventure to everyone.

It was our first time caving. We didn't know what to expect but we had a great experience. You definitely want to wear gloves and good hiking shoes. Lots of boulders to climb over and down. I am an older adult and it definitely gave my knees a workout. We are definitely happy we did it though. Our guide TJ was very knowledgeable and comical.

We did the Riverbend tour with our group of 8, ages 5-60. The 1 km hike was a little steep but was definitely manageable by all. I won't elaborate on what we saw and experienced because you really need to go and see it for yourself!
Our guide was Miles. He was a rock star of cave knowledge and super personable with everyone! Thanks for the amazing tour, Horne Lake Caving. It was an unforgettable experience 👍👍👍

So I really liked getting to actually explore a cave. So amazing. Our guide, Ryan, was funny and very knowledgeable.
I'm deducting one star simply because as a 6'6" guy I bumped my head (with helmet on) a couple times and with the helmet cutting my upwards vision off, I got paranoid I was going to keep hitting it as I couldn't quite see. Also there is a 1km walk, all uphill, to get to the cave. I picked the easy cave experience because it said no vertical climbing. It didn't say the trek there was all vertical climbing. It was hard for one of our party with arthritis.
Overall, a fab experience though!! Worth going to if you're on the Island. Learned lots about the Islands geology.

Our tour guide, Oscar, was very funny (lots of great puns) and knowledgeable about the caves. We did the multi-cave tour, and had a lot of fun with the two caves! The Riverside cave was quite easy to get through in comparison to the Main cave which had some tight squeezes, but was very doable and Oscar did a great job at giving us the confidence to get through. I thought I'd be claustrophobic but this was very fun and I'd love to come back for another tour in the future.

I recently had an unforgettable caving experience with my friends at Horn Lake Caves, and I just had to share how amazing it was! Our tour guide, Chloe, truly made our adventure exceptional. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and high spirits added an extra layer of excitement to our day.
We participated in the "Achilles Challenge" tour, which provided us with a series of exhilarating challenges. From belly crawling through narrow passages to rope swinging over underground chasms, Chloe ensured that every moment was filled with excitement and adventure. Her expertise in navigating the caves and her attention to safety gave us the confidence to push our boundaries and embrace the experience fully.
One aspect that stood out to us was Chloe's ability to cater to the needs of each individual in our group. It was the first caving experience for some of my friends, and Chloe's patient and reassuring nature immediately put them at ease. She provided clear instructions, demonstrated techniques, and offered guidance whenever needed, making everyone feel comfortable and secure throughout the journey.
The variety of challenges in the tour was fantastic. Climbing up and down rocks with the assistance of harnesses and navigating rope ladders tested our physical abilities and added an extra element of thrill. Chloe's expertise and encouragement propelled us to overcome our fears and accomplish tasks we didn't think were possible.
The moments we spent inside the cave were truly remarkable. Chloe's extensive knowledge of the caves' geology, history, and wildlife added a fascinating educational aspect to our adventure. She shared captivating stories and intriguing facts, making the experience not only thrilling but also intellectually stimulating.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Chloe for her exceptional guidance and dedication. Her passion for caving and her infectious enthusiasm created an atmosphere of pure joy and excitement. Thanks to her, my friends and I had an unforgettable time exploring the Horn Lake Caves.
If you're looking for an incredible caving experience with a knowledgeable and spirited guide, I highly recommend the "Achilles Challenge" tour with Chloe. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! This adventure is perfect for both enthusiastic beginners and experienced cavers alike. It is not ideal for those who have waist size more than 115 cm, because the belly crawls are too tight. Prepare to be amazed and have the time of your life!
Thank you, Chloe, for an unforgettable adventure. We can't wait to return for another thrilling exploration of the caves!

Went on the Riverbend Cave tour, difficulty 2 out of 5, with family of 4 (2 adults, kids age 10 & 14). I'd say the hike up to the cave was more effort than in/out of the cave itself. Educational/interesting and a bit of a challenge. Had a great time!

Haven't been in these caves since I was a kid. Curtis --our guide-- was knowledgeable and punny in the best ways and gives an excellent experience for someone who knows nothing about rocks And those who do. The caves themselves are a wonder of the island and I will be back again because I need myself a belly crawl in the season that it's available.
Cheers and thanks the great folks giving great times

This was my second time to Horne Lake Caves. At our first visit we participated in the tour now called the 'Max Depth Adventure' it was absolutely incredible! During this more recent visit I took my six year old son and we partook in the 'Riverbend Cave Explorer' tour. A phenomenal adventure where you can see calcite growing in the caves, stalagmites, stalactites and even experience absolute darkness! The adventure begins with an introduction to caving and a hike across a suspension bridge. The hike continues uphill for 30 minutes through a temperate rainforest. Our guide, Mo, was absolutely wonderful. Very personable and ensured everyone on the tour was comfortable. When booking, note the age restrictions in place for the varied guided tours. The washrooms on-site are port-a-potties. There is a gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs, drinks and snacks, it is also where you register for your tour. I definitely recommend purchasing tickets in advance as the tours have limited capacity and they do sell out. The drive to the caves is very scenic but also mostly on a dirt road.

A must visit if you are on the island and are adventurous. There are several different types of tour and I'd love to come back during summer time when some of the longer ones become available. The tour guide was amazing and it was not only a fun experience but also a highly educational one. We are fortunate to be so close to caves that we can explore and the price is very reasonable.

My brother and I had such a great time on the max depth tour today. The caves were amazing, so many cool formations and it was a lot of fun to move through with the crawl throughs and repels. Oscar our guide was fantastic with all of his cave details and upbeat attitude.

Did the Max Depth adventure with a group of five. Absolute 10/10 experience. We were lucky to have a fairly capable group (shout outs to Trent, Maddie, and Michael), and our guide, Chloe, made an outstanding effort to up the ante and increase the challenge in various fun and exciting ways. The caves were amazing, but Chloe took the experience to the next level, she was utterly fantastic from start to finish. Would highly, highly recommend.

We did the River Bend Cave Tour lead by Curtis and it was awesome. Curtis was fun and informative and the tour was a really good intro to caving. Definitely coming back for some of the more longer/challenging experiences!

I had a fantastic experience doing the 2.5 hour tour with Erin! She was a wonderful, funny, informative, and extremely capable guide that made the whole group feel very comfortable and in safe hands.
It felt like a very personal experience, and she was very encouraging and supportive for everyone climbing over/squeezing through spaces, and for taking photos! I joined the tour solo and it was great, very comfortable and fun to be in a small group of people of all ages having fun.
It was also easy to book and get sorted - but do keep in mind that the road in is 11 km of gravel with a ton of potholes! My sedan managed it, but allocate extra time to drive in. A hardy vehicle would do you good.
There are also very clean pit toilets outside the visitor center.
Amna Kazmi — Google review
We took 2.5 hour cave tour at Horne Lakes Caves over American Thanksgiving. What a great educational tour. Erin, our guide, was both knowledgeable and passionate about caving. The path to the trails was uphill but manageable for most people with a moderate fitness level. The caves themselves were easy to navigate and Erin made the pace slow giving people time to acclimate to the new surroundings.
The park area around the caves is beautiful with the lake and many trails to explore. A visit to Horne Lake is a lovely day trip at any time of year for people young and old. Bring your own food and dress appropriately (see Lake Horne Cave tour video for what to wear), clean bathrooms are available. We will be back in the summer to do more caving with Horne Lake Caves.
beverly aabjerg — Google review
We hiked the trails but didn't do the guided tours. The switchbacks help, and the trails are well maintained, but you definitely need stamina and 'climbing legs'.
There are nice educational signs along the way that you can use to rest without looking lazy or out of shape ("Hey kids, let's read these signs and learn about caves!").
The road is gravel and full of potholes, so it's an adventure to get here, but the remoteness has probably helped keep things less damaged from the worst tourists...

Cathedral Grove, situated in MacMillan Provincial Park near Coombs, is a protected area on Vancouver Island that boasts of towering Douglas fir trees which are over 800 years old. The place is brimming with an ecosystem of lush moss and ferns. Hiking trails at Cathedral Grove are fairly easy and mostly covered with a boardwalk, making it suitable for all hiking levels.
Extraordinary place to watch old trees just next to the highway. Old and massive trees that you can admire and even touch. They have built a wooden passage on one side of the highway. Easy to walk and take pictures. You can't find trees that big anywhere else in Canada. Love it!

Had a beautiful drive to the Cathedral Grove for the first, since I was a child. The grove was more amazing than I remember. Amazing place to forest bath and just take everything and just too feel small. Beautiful new boardwalk, and not too busy, winter might be best time too visit.

An amazing place to visit. Like walking through a movie or different era of time. Trees are so big and tall. A must visit place if you come to Vancouver Island. There is a nice trail both sides of the road but we only walked on one side. There are washrooms but not flush toilets at the entrance.

Both trails A and B were stunning, easy walking trails. We took our time going through the trails, so we were there maybe 1 1/ 2 hours. Both were picturesque trails with the fresh smell of a true forest trail.
Some of the trees were giant - approximately 9m wide! It felt surreal being amongst them when trees are being torn down all around us to build subdivisions and 33-floor apartment buildings. It truly is astonishing to experience!
Kris Sybers — Google review
Some of the most beautiful trees I've seen anywhere, really a sight to behold. It's a little out of the way but 100% worth the drive. Huge thanks to my brother and sister in law for bringing us out here! Could not belive how big and how old many of these trees were.

Was a nice little walk through the trails. A lot of the trees have been blown over (lots are still standing) I would not go when windy though many trees look like they are rotting out. Was a pretty walk with fairly big trees. I recommend boots if it's recently been raining because there are walkways, but the last 5 minutes of the trail, there are not walkways, and it gets really muddy.

Outstanding representation of Nature’s finest work. You’ll be in awe of the height, the age, the overall magnificence of trees that run up to 800 years old (Douglas Firs) + other trees, ie Hemlocks that grow and ‘mingle’ with other flora in this forest. The Grove is a unique example of how wonderful the eco-system of Vancouver Island is and can be where and when we can appreciate the beauty right before us. Do not pass on this stop on the roadway across the Island. It definitely draws a unique crowd. 😌

Definitely a place you’ll want on your bucket list if you’re in the area. The forest is sacred so please be respectful and obey the signs and pathways. There are lots of places where you can climb logs and touch trees as well as take pictures and access the creek without going off the path. They put a lot of effort into making the forest accessible without disturbing the beautiful scenery.

Cathedral Grove is a very nice place in the forest. There are only a few parking spaces so you probably have to park a little bit further down the street. There are toilets available. On both sides of the street you can find shirt walking loops through the forest. In the forest you can find trees up to 800 years in age and up to 76 m high.

Excellent stop to see some of Canada’s oldest trees over 500 years old! We did stop in early September and it had reopened (previously closed due to forest fire concerns).
The old tall (& tallest) trees are on the south side with no washrooms. Trails are short and maybe only 5-10 minutes to loop around.
The other side with the public washrooms leads you on a nice boardwalk close to the lake. Again only a 5-10 min loop. Although you can walk farther up and do the walk around the lake which is super long hike and not recommended for children.
The highway is busy so be careful when crossing the road! And watch out for the potholes while exiting the parking back onto the highway.

We stopped at cathedral grove on our way to Bowser where we booked airbnb amodst nature. Cathedral grove is all about short walks/trails in ancient red cedar tress. Threse trees are like hundreds of years old. And it is evident from the barks of the trees. And there is one tallest tree almost at the centre of the park. Yoy can see the forest is kind of humid, lots of moisturizer due to which some trees are fully covered by moss. There is a stream running through the park, it is nice to spend sometimes around. On the other side of the road wooden pathway is made for walking on the map the trails goes to the lake but we couldn't find any branch that goes towards the lake on the wooden path. But it is a good quick spot while visiting Vancouver Island.

Cathedral Grove is a must see on Vancouver Island! There is easy access from the highway where you can park on either side and enjoy both trails. On a sunny day you will be able to enjoy all of the light rays that shine in through the canopy of trees as well as the shadows that it creates. A great peaceful spot for a walk (theres also a river!) and also a lovely place to take photos.

Visited the old growth forest in Cathedral Grove in the Macmillan Park.
We did both loops – giant red cedars on one side and ancient Douglas furs on the other. Both loops totalled about 2 km and much of it is boardwalk so very easy to walk for almost anyone. Awe inspiring and makes you want to protect the very few old growth trees that are left. we were visiting in the middle of January so not very busy. There is very little parking so you would want to get there early or get dropped off somehow.

A very nice place to stop for an hour. In our case on the way to Uclulet. But also on the route to Tofino and Port Alberni. Amazing old growth evergreen trees. Access is terrific with elevated platforms and boardwalks. May be accessible for people with mobility issues as I did see a person in a wheelchair enjoying the amazing and massive trees.

What an amazing place to visit. The trees are enormous and so old (some of them over 800 years old). The boardwalks are very well maintained and meander throughout the area. Parking can be a challenge and the traffic zipping by makes it a bit dangerous so be careful getting out of your car and crossing the road!

Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, situated near Cameron Lake in Canada, is a beautiful state park that offers a plethora of activities such as hiking, swimming and fishing. The park's landscape is characterized by dense forests and steep mountain slopes rising from the edge. The lake provides an ideal opportunity for boating, fishing and swimming while the walking trails alongside the scenic river offer picturesque views of cascading waterfalls. The campground within the park is usually quiet with shady trees providing cover for visitors.
Had a great day here with the family 👪. Parking wasn't an issue as there were plenty of spots. We hiked all over looking at the beautiful views of the water along the way. We started off at the upper falls and made our way around to the lower falls. The temperature seemed just right, plenty of sun and just a few clouds to keep us warm enough to make the entire trek. Make sure to take water and perhaps a snack or lunch for when you are done for the day. I'm definitely coming back in the warmer months to see this place in full swing.

Not too far from Coombs. The waterfalls is a short distance from the parking lot. The path is steep and there are rocks 🪨 and tree 🌲 roots on the path, so be careful!

Fantastic waterfalls and vistas in this slot canyon!
Do yourself a favour and visit this amazing spot.
Easy parking. Toilets. About 2km walk on easy paths and two bridges.

I love waterfalls! Great place and not much to walk on stairs, easy to go with the kids and see nature

Beautiful Falls, The trail is very easy and wide. There is a very nice set of stairs and it was not too crowded. Great spot to visit if you are exploring Vancouver Island. There is a Map at the beginning of the trail. very helpful

Wonderful provincial park. The trails are decent, but not very accessible. Stairs, roots and rocky areas. The falls are beautiful. There are bridges near the upper and lower fall areas and trails on each side of the river connecting them. Lots of parking.

We dry camped here for one night on the lower loop. Site was clean with plenty of space for our RV. There are showers available on the upper loop.
The trails to the waterfalls are fairly easy and wide. Well worth a stop to see the falls!

We stayed at the campground for 4 days with our pup and it was perfect! The swim spots weren't huge but it never felt too crowded especially if you went in the quiet hours. The washrooms were each individual and had showers but no plugins. The walk around the falls was very beautiful and peaceful. All the staff and fellow campers were very nice and respectful. Definitely one of our campgrounds we're going to have to come back to!
