Manassas National Battlefield Park, also known as Bull Run, is a historical site where significant battles between the Confederates and Union occurred during the Civil War. It was won by the Confederacy in 1861 and 1862. The park features fields marking these victories and a statue of Thomas Stonewall Jackson. There are ranger tours available at the Robinson farm which provide intriguing information about the area's history.
I went there February 19 2022. The wind was blowing about 25 mph and temperatures of 40 degrees. The ranger tour of the Robinson farm was intriguing. The statue of Thomas Stonewall Jackson was very impressive. This place has the best information video I have ever seen at a national park. They have a good junior ranger program but no longer have a Bark Ranger for dogs. I wish it had been a little warmer

This was such a great way to learn about history. We did the tour guide with the Park Ranger and it was great. She lead us through what happened. The tour was about 45 minutes long. It is a great place to bring children. Since it is outdoors our boys could explore. The museum was very well done. There is also an interactive map that gives a layout of the battle.
Janie Bowerbank — Google review
Loved it! I am NOT a Civil War buff but I did enjoy the visit. They have a great film that is shown hourly. We also downloaded the audio and video clips from the park’s app. That helped to explain what we were seeing as we toured the battlefield.
Jeffrey Hyde — Google review
I had an enjoyable experience exploring the battlefield on a Monday in early March. I took the walking tour with the ranger, I don’t remember his name but he was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. There was plenty of parking. Restrooms in the visitors center. I watched the movie after the walking tour. I drove to the stone bridge and the unfinished railroad sites because I was running out of time. You could definitely spend an entire day here.
Miss Val — Google review
This was a visit that brought a lot of history to life. To have been at the Battlefield Park at the end of September 2023, with the heavy clouds, was really a rich experience. I also purchased a two books from the book store, one of which is slave narratives.
Jennyfer Ambe — Google review
I've come here multiple times to hike- it never fails to amuse me. Full of rich history everywhere. There are 2 places to park: one that is placed in the middle and there is the main parking. I like that the huge chunk of the area is preserved. You'll always find something new. There are various trails to choose from.
Litzy Aguilar — Google review
Fascinating testament to the stupidity of war. Many young men died on this field because some adults wanted to own people.
Having said that, the artifacts on display give one a better understanding of the battles.
Ricardo Munoz — Google review
Beautiful and underrated. Great museum in the visitors center with a fantastic presentation on the battle complete with lights. Miles of open land and places to walk.
Serena Rice — Google review
Manassas Battlefield Park is beautiful maintained. The Visitor Center is excellent. Highly recommend the movie prior to touring the Battlefield. Very clean restrooms. The gift shop has an excellent variety of books. Recommend doing the driving tour if this is your first visit. Recommend a visit to Mathew Hill to see the two naval 12 pound howitzers that was used during the battle.
Sharon Mcfarland — Google review
Really beautiful place, especially considering the history here. It's amazing that something so brutal and bloody could happen at such a beautiful place.
I'm a fan of history, from all periods and places. This place has a very informative museum; as well as buildings from the period, period cannons, a cemetery, and several monuments dedicated to the battle.
This place is kept up really well, and because it's spread out over so many acres you don't have to worry about it being too crowded. I hope it's around for many years to come so that it can teach people about its' history.
Beverly Patrick — Google review
The battlefield was beautiful! The park rangers and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. My only con was that the driving tour was not as easy for me to follow as it is in Gettysburg. But I would definitely recommend and return.
Carissa — Google review
It was ok. Probably the most interesting part was the museum at the visitor center. There is one semi-trail walk, all in the sun, that goes around a field. One confederate statue, some cool cannons and a wooden house. Around 40 parking spots.
Vlad Gorshkov — Google review
We took the grand kids to explore the battlefield. The guided tour was terrific. The ranger was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the battle, especially the context (our tour covered the 1st Battle of Bull Run). The visitor center has a great museum and the movie about the battles was extremely well done. I would caution that the scenes are very graphic and parents may want to discuss the movie before/after if your kids are 14 and younger.
Dan Noble — Google review
We walked the 5.2 mile First Battle of Manassas Trail Loop. On the AllTrails app, it suggests the average walk time is 2 hours. Allot more time to stop and read the informative signs at the waypoints. It makes the trip more robust when you can understand what things are and the battles that were fought in the very place you are standing. The trail is well maintained, there are shortcuts along the way if you choose not to do the full loop, the bridge crossing Bull Run is out so we crossed through the water on rocks, and about half is in the woods (shaded) while the rest is out in the open. Be aware: the small parking lot was almost full when we arrived.
Heather Burrell — Google review
Interesting, historically accurate and moving. Gazing upon the area you can feel the spirit, the camaraderie and the dedication of the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting for freedom.
Cheyanne Gentry — Google review
This is a nice simple park to spend time at. There's a lot of history associated with it and they play a movie in the visitor center. The staff is friendly and there's a big parking lot. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you're in the area, it's certainly worth a visit. Would recommend!

Karlpeter Schroeder — Google review
Took the kids and got there early, did the educational film (45 min) in the visitor center, stamped passports etc and did the first Manassas loop. Took us about 2 hours (with kids) to do 4.5 miles so not bad. So much to see along the way, and the stone house was open so we got a nice little break to look around, talk to the rangers, and get their ranger pins.
The NRA National Firearms Museum boasts 15 galleries that showcase the history of firearms and their role in American culture. This place is great! Definitely worth visiting even if you're not a gun nut, there is an insane amount of history in that museum. You can catch a free guided tour or they have touch screen kiosks throughout that detail the collections in each case. I lived this place, like a kid in a candy store!
Bryan Smith — Google review
Epic collection of firearms with a rich history. The staff at the museum were very professional and answered all my questions thoroughly. The firearm collection is very extensive and goes beyond my highest expectations.
We were immediately greeted at the front desk by Zack. He was very informative about the museum. 98% of the museum is made up of donations. About 8,000 firearms donated are in storage. Bill, one of the staff, was very helpful and talked about James Joseph "Whitey" Bulger Jr..
I was impressed at the arrangement of the firearms and how they were organized in a meaningful way. It would take many hours to go through and read all the exhibits. We spent about two hours there. I was very impressed with the exhibit of weapons used in Hollywood movies. I adored the exhibit with taxidermy animals especially the bear. The Buffalo Bill and George Washington exhibit were very eye catching as well. The most spectacular moment in the museum was hearing about and see an exhibit piece owned by one of America’s most notorious criminals, Charles Manson. The museum curator, Ernie, gave me vivid details of how the gun was confiscated by the police.
Admission to the museum is free and one of Fairfax’s finest and unique local attractions. Strongly recommend this museum.

Pew pew pew! Oh so many guns! We spent over 2 hours here. If you read all the details you could definitely spend more here. There are so beautiful guns and rifles to look at plus a lot of history behind them. Definitely recommend if you are a guns lover.
Deanna Lynn Poling — Google review
Pretty cool seeing all the unusual guns and lots of guns used in popular movies. Gift shop not open since covid isn't great though.
Matthew Hayes — Google review
Very very cool place to go and free admittance! You don't have to be a gun lover to appreciate the displays and the rich detailed history associated with the weapons on display! *Bonus points if you can name 1/4 of this collection without reading the plaques! Great place to just stop in even if you just have a few minutes. It's free! And this is Merica' after all and you are too! So stop in and enjoy, they accept donations and have kiosks for easy lifetime NRA membership signups.

The NRA Museum offers a unique perspective on antique to modern firearms. Everything from engraved scroll work, gold and silver plating, ivory inlay. To rustic workhorses such as gatling guns, flintlocks, cap & ball revolvers. If you appreciate fine metallurgy, hand worked stocks, and the ingenuity to create works of art. This is a must see if you are cruising through the area. Free parking and free entrance too.

Can't say enough good things about this place. There's some truly one of a kind firearms in this museum and a great history behind them. Truly knowledgeable of all the items in this collection. Quite an amazing collection that is well cataloged. If you love old ones this is the place

This museum is AMAZING! Clean, quiet, open 364 days a year and IT'S FREE! If you are passionate about history and like guns you will absolutely love this museum. We went on a Sunday but learned that during the week there is an extremely knowledgeable curator. I highly recommend this museum.

Going here has been on my mind for years. I had always heard how great and well laid out it was. I was not disappointed. Perfect for anyone who is interested in guns, history, or the history of guns. The staff is exceptionally friendly and there is no charge to visit.
LMS Tactical Backup — Google review
One of the best museums dealing with firearms in history and development in technology. Outstanding collection.
Alejandro De Quesada — Google review
Never have I ever seen such a complete, detailed, extensive, and informative display on any subject in any museum. No matter your political views this should be on your list just for the sheer volume and quality of the information. The curator was knowledgeable on the various collections and displays, their history and value. Not everyone in our party was a firearms enthusiast but everyone left with an appreciation of their efforts.
The Hylton Performing Arts Center is an impressive and sophisticated venue that boasts both an opera house and a theater. It offers a diverse range of shows and musical performances. The facility is spacious, comfortable, and provides excellent views of the stage from any seat. However, it might be better to choose seats closer to the stage for children's shows to ensure their safety and enhance perspective. The staff at the center are incredibly friendly, making it a great experience for everyone who visits.
I truly enjoyed the Polish Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra. This was my first time. The center doesn't serve food just $3 snacks. I will return 2/19/22 for the Ballet Hispanico. I went 2/19/22 the ballet was fabulous

Attending Prince William Association of Realtors EXL Conference which was held at Hylton Performing Arts Center. It’s a lovely modern venue. Two story entry. Conference rooms were spacious. Great facility for a show. Elevators were pretty busy so we ended up taking the grand stairs a few floors up. Found our seats in the box. Next time for a kids show, I'll choose seats down further... better perspective (wont show puppeteers) and safer (was worried about my 3 year old getting too close to the railing).
Julie P — Google review
Beautiful facility. Stunning theatre. Ample rehearsal and holding rooms.
CeCi Stephens — Google review
This is a great venue. The seats are large enough and comfortable. I'm always worried about not being able to see a performance because the people in front of me may be too tall. I been to this theatre about 10 times. I sat in various places in the orchestra and balcony and have never had a bad seat. I have always been able to sit comfortably and see the performances. Parking is free, and the performances are high quality.

Hylton Performing Arts Center is a great Venue to see different live performances. I've been there several times to see different things. It's nice and clean, the staff are friendly. One thing is Parking isn't always the best so make sure you get there early. Ticket prices are reasonable. And they offer a lot of for Military. I just recently saw CAMMO voices for free. Was an amazing concert.

We went to a performance with an elementary school field trip and it was excellent! The performance was professional and fun and the ushers and other people who helped bring our group inside were clear with instructions and very patient with a ton of little kids. Great time overall!
Sarah Bongiovanni — Google review
I've gone as both a performer and an audience member. As a performer, it's a very nice stage with lovely dressing rooms and clean bathrooms. As an audience member, the seats are usually great no matter where you sit, the sound is awesome, and obviously the stage performances themselves are always an enjoyable experience.

We happen to walk by this place and I’m glad we went inside. Unexpectedly large ex-factory with three floors of artist studios. There was a wide range of art styles with affordable small pieces available. We ended up leaving with two prints and got to meet the artists directly. Super cool and will come back again. They also offer art classes and workshops!

Very neat art gallery! Free to enter!
There's so much to see at this place - probably over 100 art vendors. Definitely worth the stop to see and appreciate all of the artists. There's a lot of variety of art, and so many neat things to browse though.
There are three floors and you can spend hours here just looking around. Support local artists 🙂❤️

A historical torpedo factory which the buildings is repurposed as nation’s largest community of working artists.
3 stories building filled with the exhibits of torpedo factory historic, the art school, an archaeology museum and different types of arts studios and if you’re lucky you’ll meet the artists yourself.
Each level has their own restrooms area, which all of them are very clean! You’ll find hand sanitizer almost in every entrance/ exit area.
Parking garage are all in walking perimeter around, starting $2.50/ hour or $10 max on weekdays and $5 max on weekends.

Hard to give this place 5 stars if the Art pieces are just too expensive. I judge the location on art, coziness, cleanliness, and the people. Great walk through and the art pieces are incredible. I can really tell that I was viewing some very talented artist.
The location was bright, very vibrant, and the pieces were 1 of a kind. Special shot out to MEG Photography Exhibition. He had several wilderness photos that highly caught my eye. If they were in the $50 price range then I may have taken a few home, but close to $200 just wasn't. There was a pience from Scotland that highlighted the mountains and railroads - simply beautiful.
Overall great exhibit, the location is free and the hours are manageable

A MUST SEE if you’re in Old Town Alexandria. This old factory has been converted to a studio/ education/ gallery space for artists. It has a fantastic mix of different types of art and media. There are three floors of art to explore.
Michelle Horton — Google review
Place to visit if you're in Old Town. Most likely you will be near if looking for Potomac view.
Main point - you need to plan, otherwise it will be overwhelming and rush feeling. Factory has 3 floors with about 200+ studio and artists, ceramic, leather, textile - you name it. My guess just to walk around every studio without even looking into work & details you would need 2 hours plus.
Get information beforehand - plan for about 10 studios max to keep it under 2 hours.
Always include a visit to a history museum & look at historical artifacts at factory - torpedo, floor weight.
Best time to visit probably past 2PM on Sunday - it's weekend but less crowded while most studio will be open.
If visiting with kids - place has several bathrooms and they are in a good shape. There are soda-water machines but no snacks - you may need to re-enter.
Studios recommendations - #305 painting & #19 ceramic (totally personal choice)
Dimitri Ivanoff — Google review
It was a lot of fun seeing all the different types of art and artists. There were 3 floors of awesome art and super creative people. They offer classes and so many other cool things. Not allowed to take picture while in the studio of course but very nice art work. I would have liked to know more about the building as well.

- everyone that works there at least the few I talked to were super friendly.
- overall a cool little place to check out. I'd recommend this location.

The torpedo factory building is over 100 years old and was built shortly after WWI. It still houses a couple of the old torpedoes manufactured there. However, it is now a thriving and lively art gallery that hosts many local artists' contributions. There are many whimsical creations and beautiful paintings throughout the three story gallery. Many of the artists are glad to speak with patrons and are enthusiastic about their creations. If you visit Old Town Alexandria, this is definitely a stop worth visiting.

Awesome place bringing together artists and the public. Amazing summer programs for kids and workshops offered for all throughout the year. If I lived in Alexandria this would be a place I would frequent. Appreciate being able to connect with the local artists.

I'm not an art experience person, so I was reluctant to visit but was glad I made the decision to spend time at the Torpedo Factory.
The site is an old torpedo plant for the navy that has been converted into a giant gallery for a variety of artists. Each has their own mini gallery inside and you will find a variety of mediums on display. This includes painting, prints, sketches, pottery, etc. Really, everything you can imagine.
Everything was very well maintained and presented. Just surrounded by this amount of high quality art brought delight to everyone in my party. Everyone saw something that spoke to them. We also enjoyed the building itself and the stories woven into the different exhibits and pieces of art on display.
Also be sure to check out the wonderful archeology museum detailing hidden stories from Alexandria's past.
When in old town, the Torpedo Factory is a must visit.

Torpedo Factory Art Center is definitely the place to visit if you happen to be in Old Alexandria in Virginia. Art is everywhere here and some artworks are quite fascinating to look at. There are inspired, jewellery-makers who carved a niche for their creations whether big or small. The artists use different media , be it glass, acrylic, oil, watercolor or print. An enriching place, find the hidden treasures under the winding stairs.

Tuesday is a quiet day to visit, not many of the studios were open. You can still view artwork through studio display windows. TIP: there's a map by the street side entrance that shows which studios are open.

A unique building, location and atmosphere. A chance to visit with amazing local artists, learn about their passion and development as an artist. Many invite you to learn more about their process and current projects.
If you enjoy art or know a budding artist this is a must visit.
You even get to see torpedos and learn about the facility during the War!

Stumbled upon this place by chance while I was in the area, ended up spending a great deal of time here. Met a lot of interesting artists, sculptors, and I saw a great many unique pieces of art on display. Regardless of whatever interests you may have, I’m certain something must peak your interests. I highly recommend a visit not just by typical art enthusiasts but anyone else just passing by the old town waterfront.
The Alexandria waterfront is a picturesque and relaxing spot to visit with your loved one. There are numerous activities to enjoy here, from dining in restaurants on the riverfront to taking boat cruises and water taxis. The Old Town waterfront is known for its street performers who will entertained you while you dine.
Great place to walk around with friends or if you are on a date. There is parking nearby so you do not have to park very far however if it is busy then parking could be an issue. The waterfront has a great view and overall is a good place to hangout as there are more than a few restaurants nearby. Saw many people walking their dogs here so if you need a place to walk your dog and are nearby this is definitely an option as there is open space.

Beautiful area with boutique style shops and unique restaurants. I love to walk around this area and enjoy the crisp fall weather right now in October. There is a wonderful long walking path along the waterfront where you will be able to take a water taxi, ferry, or just enjoy the ducks that live along the shore.

Highly recommend!!!! Whether you’re a local in the DMV or a visitor, old town is a spot you should definitely get to know. It’s the most adorable little town right by the water. The streets are very clean and the area is dog friendly and kid friendly. There are so many great places to dine with a variety of cuisines that cater to all!! Old town is right by on the Potomac and close by the Reagan National Airport so you get to see the planes fly overhead.

Beautiful, clean, family friendly and, easy to walk along the waterfront. There are benches to sit and watch the birds, or people watch. The park on the day we walked had lots of families having picnics. However there was one homeless man with his tent, desk chair, lap top, and speakers set up! I wanted to take a photo, but didn't dare.
The Torpedo Factory is right at the waterfront! It's a former torpedo factory, now a building with art studios and galleries, free to the public! Go and see local art and meet some of the artists! Support local art!
The Waterfront here is truly relaxing. You can stop for a meal at one of the several restaurants here too.

The waterfront is small but got a nice view and airplane sighing. A nice place for a walk. There's a restaurant on site. Mainly private and tour boats and water taxis. There is street parking but go for garage parking to save time looking for a spot.

Definitely a great place to stop and spend some time! Lots of restaurants and shops in the area and it's a very scenic area. It's a short (20 minute) walk to Jones Point Park, and it's right off King Street which is lined with great, unique restaurants and shops! It’s a beautiful waterfront with breathtaking panoramic views of Georgetown, Washington DC and National Harbor and filled with endless list of entertainments.
Restaurants with outdoor dining on the deck, Torpedo Factory Art Center, Alexandria Archeology Museum, turfs grass play park for families, outdoor picnic tables, farmers market, boardwalk deck and many more.
If you walk to the streets, you’ll find more restaurants and local street entertainers who play music, magicians and even a traditional music instrument. Walk further to the Alexandria City Hall, hop on to the free King Street Trolley so you’ll experience more historic buildings in surroundings to the King St OldTown Metrorail station. This small park along the waterfront is a delightful way to take in views of the Potomac and all Old Town Alexandria has to offer.
There is room for outdoor activities, benches, art work, boats, historic signage, and much more. Plus you are surrounded by numerous restaurants, businesses, and other experiences.
Everything was relatively clean and well maintained, except the trash cans which need emptying and cleaning.
If you're in the city, you definitely need to stop here to take in a unique spot among the bustle of the world around you.

Beautiful little park right by the water in Old Town. Good mix of open green spaces, seating, and shade. There are a variety of historical plaques and markers in the park as well.
It can get crowded on the weekends, but there is still enough room to spread out and doesn’t feel overly crowded. It’s much quieter during the week. There is also no dedicated parking, so be prepared to park on the street and walk s few blocks.

Where to start, Old Town Alexandria is a truly unique place rich with as much history as there is to do. There is not one defining place I'd suggest, but the waterfront boasts loads of waterfront dining, live music, boat rides, and views of the National Harbor. With weekly events, tours, and the Torpedo Factory Art Center, there is no shortage of things to see and do. Historic houses and parks adorn this truly historic waterfront and shopping the many boutique shops will help pass your time. I highly recommend it!

Great place for a walk. Plenty of families and dogs. You can probably see some boats and air planes flying overhead. No play grounds so keep a close eye on the kids, almost saw 2 or 3 go in the water.

This is another absolutely wonderful place to visit, est, and even shop for unique things. King Street is the main hub of activity, but don't miss some of the other places, sights and attractions on adjacent streets. Parking is available, but on busy days, it can be challenging. Best is go early! It's so picturesque throughout the year, and it's family oriented. Pet friendly too, with proprietors even placing water bowls out for pets. I'll get writer's cramp trying to explain every, so Google and other search engines are easy to use to discover so much about this historical part of the area!

Cute place by the waterfront with a historical feel. We found street parking free a few blocks inland and walked through the old town Alexandria streets that had a cute historical charm. There were a good mix of families with kids, couples, and tourists. Live music scattered throughout the streets by musicians playing different instruments.
We enjoyed the nice little walk along the waterfront and recommend stopping by if you’re ever in the Alexandria area.
We had a dinner appointment 5 minutes from the waterfront, so we came here after dinner on a summer evening.

I LOVE THIS PLACE.
One of the best places in NOVA for a walk in day or night, having food at restaurants by the water, and more fun. There are many boats parked there and many restaurants by the river. There is a little park, best place for kids and pets to walk around, but be careful of kids near river. The streets around look like you're in a hostoric place (historic old town, lol) or kinda Europe!

Old Town Alexandria was absolutely amazing!
On the weekends you can park for free roadside. Then you walk into the Old Town Alexandria Area to patio Restaurant eating, Street dancing, guitarist playing in the street, loud jazz music entertaining sightseers and passers by, you had your salsa dancing in the street, lots of pedestrians walking in the middle of the street and entered entertaining and enjoying entertainment going on around them. There was probably a total of five or six beautiful wonderful ice cream shops that look quite delightful.
Several shops of all kinds of antiques, clothing, shoes different apparel jewelry that were storefront, various restaurants and bars from your three star restaurant and bar to your five-star restaurant and bar, as you approach the pier it was just absolutely beautiful the water and seeing all of the boats, there's a lot of entertainment activity going on all around you and the short area where the water is.
There was a DJ playing in the middle right before the water that was entertaining everyone.
You can bring your family down and enjoy a picnic order food they were individuals also with our laptops up and doing some work. The Ducks were very friendly and they would be coming right up to you to be fed. It was absolutely beautiful, calming and peaceful! Wonderful family atmosphere perfect for date night and just getting out and taking it easy. A great place for a girls night for dinner and a good time. Great safe walking environment for family and friends.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself I am in town visiting and this is some place I will definitely come back to. I enjoyed myself in the Tranquility of it all. Parking can be a hassle, because it is a very busy area and you will need to find parking on a street around near you. You will pay meters if you park during the week but on the weekend you can park dang near for free I think it's like $1.50 for 2 hours or something of that nature.

Potomac Mills, previously known as the Washington Outlet Mall, is a sprawling shopping destination located just off -95 in Virginia. With over 200 stores, including famous factory outlets and well-known brands like Nike, Calvin Klein, and H&M, it's a shopaholic's paradise. The mall also boasts around 30 restaurants to satisfy any craving. My review is in regards to the Pure Spa Massage inside the mall. This space is located in the back portion, towards T-Mobile.
My experience with Grace was beyond amazing! 1 hour table massage.
Every muscle, knot, or sore aching part of my body was healed.
I can’t wait to buy my family gift cards for Christmas.

This is a huge mall. I try to visit here Everytime I come up to the DC area. Fun to walk with the family and there’s a store for everyone, that’s for sure. My only complaint is the gross restrooms, but I know that’s just due to the high traffic of people that come & go through here. Place is awesome nonetheless and it’s always fun to get to come here. I’ll definitely be back.

I recently visited Potomac Mills Mall, and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. I had a few items to return, and I was relieved to find that the mall wasn't as packed as it often is on weekends. This made the entire trip a breeze and a pleasant outing.
The noticeable lack of overcrowding made a significant difference. I could actually breathe and move around comfortably without feeling like I was navigating through a sea of people. It allowed me to enjoy my shopping experience without the usual stress associated with large malls during peak hours.
The stores I visited had friendly and helpful staff who made the return process smooth and efficient. There was no long wait, and I appreciated their professionalism.
Potomac Mills Mall has a fantastic selection of stores, which is one of the reasons I keep returning. This time, the visit was particularly enjoyable due to the manageable crowd. It felt like I had more time to explore and shop at my own pace.
In conclusion, my recent visit to Potomac Mills Mall was a delightful experience. The reduced crowds made the trip more relaxing and enjoyable, and I had a positive interaction with the store staff during my returns. If you're looking for a pleasant shopping environment, this mall is a great choice.

If you're looking for a place to waste you time and money, well then you found the right spot! With at least quarter of the stores being closed down or businesses being empty. The mall is suppose to be an outlet but only a handful of them are. While they may advertise sales like they are new
they are not. Its the same sale year round just with a fresh coat of paint to appeal to the season. Employees lazily meanderings about on their phones looking like zombies until a person enters and they're all over you like a lost puppy or lazily greet you as you enter then lurk away. You have a ton of mall kiosk stations libgering around with the same product every hall way as well. Beware the hair care/skin care people. The will harass you and your group to try their product that is overpriced. The mall security is a joke of its own. This place would be better secured if they had a troop of boy scouts patrolling this place. Whenever you need them take 20-30 only to have the issue be resolved when they arrived. Also their is mice crawling around the bathroom areas as well. All in all don't go to this mall unless you absolutely need to.
Prince William Forest Park is a sprawling 242,000 acre reserve in the hills of central Virginia. It offers miles of scenic walking and bike trails, as well as cabins for camping. The park is popular for hiking, fishing, hunting and birdwatching.
Great hidden gem this park. I'll re-review in Summer if the crowds make it unbearable but I did some hikes in January and it was, COLD, but delightfully deserted. The trails are well worn so easy to follow and I merged a couple of loops to do about a dozen or so miles each visit.
The paths were in need of some post- winter maintenance when I visited (see pics)

40 minutes south of Washington, D.C. is a large national park with a conflicted history. When the national park was created in the 1930s, farmers and residents of Batestown, a small community first settled by those formerly enslaved, were resettled by the government. The park does acknowledge its dark history.
Today, Prince William Forest Park is a massive national park that cost $20 per vehicle to visit. Start at the visitors center to get the history of the park and maps. (There's also a little store that sells snacks inside.)
Then park in one of the many parking lots that take you to old ruins, a handful of trails and a scenic drive.

Great place! I stayed in a cabin, these are rustic, mine had pretty comfortable cots, a ceiling fan and 1 outlet. There's a picnic table and grill. Bathhouse was clean with hot water. Trails are pretty cool, and the scenic drive was beautiful! There are community spaces with varying degrees of accomodations. There is no camp store. Bring your own food and water, (no where to get coffee if that's your thing). The guys at the visitor center are knowledgeable and friendly, lots of interesting history in this area! Pam? The campground volunteer does a wonderful job! Hike, bike, enjoy the beauty! Dogs welcome. Marine Corps museum close by as well as many other cool places.

Great park! Trails are well maintained and easy to follow, and it's just huge (I managed to hike 12 miles but there were miles more of trails I didn't even see) And it can't be understated that there are... So. Many. Trees. I know it's a forest park, but wow. If you think "forest bathing" sounds like something you want to try, this is the A+ premium place to do it. Beautiful greenery in every nook and cranny of this extensive well maintained forest.

Love this park! Close by for us. TONS of trails for everyone too. You can grab an easy stroll on the fire roads or something a tad more challenging on some of the trails.
Visitor center has some nice gifts. Don't forget to have your National Park Passport stamped there too.
They have primitive and full hook up campsites. We've never used them but they look nice.
About a 3 mile dedicated bike lane on the scenic drive. Note that once you pass about parking lot C you have to go all the way around the scenic loop to get out of the park.
There's parking lots throughout so you can change up the entrance trails you use as well.
National Harbor, situated along the Potomac River, is a vibrant development featuring a variety of attractions. The highlight is the National Harbor Capital Wheel, standing at 180 feet tall and offering breathtaking views of Washington, D.C. This bustling enclave boasts hotels, restaurants, shops, and even a casino. Located just south of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Maryland's Prince George's County, it's only a short drive from downtown D.C.
We came here during the Christmas holidays, and it felt quite festive with the big Christmas tree and lighting on. The walk was pretty nice, and the ride on the wheel was also enjoyable with a great view of the harbor. There was a public parking building, so parking also wasn’t an issue. I'm actually obsessed with this place. It's like a tiny bougie town. Beautiful views and walks on the water, a Ferris wheel, ferry tours, kayak rentals, a ton of restaurants, escape rooms...the only downside? The cost of parking. Mount Vernon, a well-known historical attraction, was the cherished residence of George and Martha Washington from their marriage in 1759 until George's death in 1799. The estate is decorated with authentic pieces from the era and contains personal items belonging to the former president. Visitors can take guided tours of the furnished main house to learn about the daily lives of its former occupants, while self-guided tours offer opportunities to interact with actors portraying individuals working and living on an 18th-century plantation.
Interesting and historical look at where the first president of the United States lived and died.
Beautifully manicured grounds house this patriot and his wife’s final resting place.
Great afternoon spent strolling the grounds and learning about the life of George Washington and his wife and family.

We visited George Washington's Mansion last weekend at Mount Vernon, VA. We had a great time. It's a must see and good for all ages. The mansion and location itself is well preserved and maintained. I love how the tour guides are knowledgeable about the historic place, they are friendly too and answers your questions well.
Don't forget to stop by the museum too, they have a lot of interesting historic items that they use back in the days. And good information about The Washington.
If ever you got hungry, they have a restaurant right before the entrance that you can also try, or the food court upon exiting the museum.
They also have a souvenir shop upon exiting the museum. Overall, We had a great experience.

I cannot say enough great things about Mt Vernon! Beautiful grounds and property! Wonderful staff! Incredible restaurant! Great place to hang out for a day and learn about early American history. Our server Justin was great! I highly recommend this spot 👌

A really nice place to visit, both the house and the grounds are nice to walk around. The house can be seen from the inside when booking a tour however, it is more a walkthrough than a proper guided tour, bet nevertheless still very nice to see. The garden and surrounding areas are beautiful and well kept and give some additional information about the history of the house, the people who lived there and how all was used in the time. The museum is very interesting and very nicely laid out and well worth the visit as well. There is plenty of parking when not visiting during the high season.

We stopped here on the recommendation by a friend. We were really glad we did. We bought grounds tickets online in advance it said tickets to the house were not available for the day we were going, but once we got there we were able to get some. Plenty of parking, and no wait to get in. Tickets to the house are a timed entry so we toured the grounds first. Beautiful and so serene. Right on the Potomac River. The Tomb is something to see. We made the rounds of pretty much everything. They have you line up for the house entry at your entry time and not before then we had another 20 to 30 minute wait- so for our 1:00 entry we probably actually got in around 1:30. The actual tour of the house is about 20 minutes. But is still worth it.

Incredible! If you can go, Go! Great for all ages. We took a family of 4, ages 10-40 and everyone enjoyed it. History and information galore that you didn't know you wanted to know, but you absolutely do!
We went on George Washington's Birthday celebration which provided so much entertainment. The museum and 4D movie is a must! The mansion tour is worth the time. I'm not sure if Washington himself is there all the time, but meeting him on the estate was a fun surprise.

It was a great place to visit. As you walk around the grounds there are plenty of people who will share information about the place. We did the house tour with is $2 more per person and it was awesome. So much history and loads of walking. Easy to do with a stroller. We used the free shuttle to take us from the river back up to the house!

This was my first time to Mount Vernon. We bought tickets for the mansion and then we walked the grounds. Make sure to check the weather. Going to see it on a gorgeous day makes all the difference. Before I go any further, I would like to say thank you to all of the staff and owners who have done a great job of preserving the history and beauty of Mount Vernon. Be sure to buy tickets in advance. You will be able to select your desired time slot on the website. There is parking on site, but the lots are narrow, so keep that in mind. The staff are pretty knowledgeable, so ask whatever questions you have. There is also a gift shop and food truck on site with tables to eat outside. The views are unbelievable! Make sure to take some time and visit this historical location you won't be disappointed.

Although the ticket price is a bit high, it is worth it for the amount of sights and information here. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. I personally really appreciated the effort made by the site to also talk about the history of the enslaved people who lived here. A lot of historical sites about the founding fathers try and brush over that part of our nation’s history, but I felt the staff and plaques here attempted to also include their stories! I will for sure come back for the national treasure tour, we decided to wait because the basement of the house was under repair.

The chance to walk through George Washington’s home was incredible! The house and grounds are meticulously cared for and staffed.
The mansion tour was informative, though rushed. I had so many questions and did not have the opportunity to ask.
The museum portion was informative and interactive. We enjoyed the movies that made the life and times of George Washington more real for my kids.
Throughout the grounds there were staff dressed in period apparel that were knowledgeable to answer questions.

The historic significance of this home is just something!! The greatest American President ever lived, learned & worked here! As a history buff I was thoroughly impressed. Also stunningly beautiful. The landscaping and gardens were so beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The home and land surrounding is just beautiful. Washington indeed had a lovely view!! However, we were greatly disappointed with our tour of the home. We were there the same day as what felt like hundreds of kids on a field trip who were so loud and disrespectful. I wish there had been a better structure to the tour to accommodate such groups. Most of the tour guides seemed too intimidated to quiet the students who were clearly disinterested in learning and were playing games on their phones. (Maybe they could consider separating tour groups of students from the population who comes to learn?) We couldn’t hear anything the tour guides said and we could hardly see anything. The house and grounds seem to be preserved very well though and the museum part was well done.

Great for a nature walk. I did some birdwatching while there and enjoyed the scenery while there. A lot of open space to have a picnic after seeing the house and grounds. Overall, it’s a great day all day activity for the family.
I did go during the day on a weekday so it was not too crowded.

Rainy day in December was well spent here. The visitor center and museum along with the mansion tour were great for indoors, and the gardens were still beautiful. We strolled through the landscape and found one of the trees Washington planted, as described in the book 'Founding Gardeners', one of my inspirations for coming here. Holiday decorations made it even more beautiful and enjoyed a lunch in the Inn. We drove back along George Washington Parkway, which starts here and ends in DC, a lovely drive. Highly recommend!

We loved it! 👏 Family of 4 (parents & 2 grownup children). Very interesting historic site! The guides were very knowledgeable and good to tell stories and the whole area and museum is amazing 🤩👍 We wish we had known about the ship and had time to take a tour on the river with that as well. Maybe next time 😊

During Washington's very short retirement years, he is said to have entertained so many guests that he likened his home to a tavern, yet he remained a gracious and courteous host to all. The Mount Vernon Ladies Association does a remarkable job continuing this tradition. The General's estate is beautiful and well maintained, which is no small feat given the fact that they accept no government funds to maintain the property. It is, by far, my favorite place to visit, and I highly encourage everyone to not only visit Washington's home but to consider helping in the upkeep of this remarkable piece of history.

We went on a day when it was raining and still stayed for 8 hours. While the mansion tour was lovely, the grounds of Mount Vernon are really spectacular! We loved all the little buildings and history and stories behind them. We caught a music demonstration and a reenactment of one of Martha's slaves. The quotes by George and Martha on the grounds were also interesting. I bought a book in the gift shop (amazingly large with unique items) to get to know them better. The museum is fantastic. The 4D movie was my favorite. And we ate at the restaurant-- it was so delicious. I definitely want to visit again!

The admission fee is $26 per person, including the museums, the maison visit and a tour.
The entire space is huge, including a farm, stables, and a great view over the Potomac.
The mansion itself is well-maintained. We could see authentic arrangement of the Washington family. The tour guides are well trained, sharing interesting stories without being overwhelming.
This is my go-to whenever I’m hosting friends around DC.

We took our kids to visit while studying presidents in school. We bought tickets online ahead of time to do the mansion tour, national treasure tour and a river tour. We enjoyed the first 2 tours very much. The guide on the National treasure tour was good. Sadly we tried to grab a bit to eat at the food truck and ended up missing the bus. It actually left the dock a couple minutes early as we were running down the hill to the dock. So make sure you arrive early for that. Otherwise we had a great family experience and we learned a lot and appreciate more what George Washington did for our country 🇺🇸

Despite not advertising the fact, we were able to buy a disabled ticket and my husband was free as my carer which was just as well as there was so much that I couldn't see from my wheelchair. Obviously these are historical buildings so putting in lifts is out of the question so paying a reduced rate seems the only fair option.
The restroom situation was far from ideal. There wasn't a separate accessible restroom which my husband could come in and help me. I had to battle through 2 sets of doors - with no push button opening so it's really hard to manage a chair and the doors. The cubicle was decent but the door opened directly onto the dryer. The way the door opened meant that I couldn't see that a woman was drying her hands and I squished her as I opened the door. Mortifying for me and painful for her. Thankfully, she was incredibly nice about it.
A rethink on the layout is much needed!!

It was really fun being here. More walking than I thought, but really nice.
Though I went there when there were several schools there. So it was more packed than normal. The food in the food court was ok, I had had worse. I wish I had seen the restaurant instead. It's hidden away, and it looked good.
But overall, a nice experience.

This place really teaches you some history in a deep and experiential way. Taking us back to a time when things were far different. Imagine an 11,000 square ft Manson with 21 Rooms and no bathrooms! Nope! They either went to the 3-hole outhouse or used the chamber pots indoors and the chambermaids got to empty them.
This sprawling facility is absolutely beautiful and you could easily see why George Washington loved living here and wanted to be buried here.
The tour doesn’t shy away from his history with slaves that was started with his grandfather. He fed them well and took good care of them. Things have changed for the better the world over because of this wonderful man.
He had huge gardens and plentiful orchards but his main business was fishing Chad on the Potomac.
Be sure watch the introductory video in the auditorium as it explains a lot of what’s going on. Also plan to spend at least 5-8 hours here as it’s worth every minute.
Kelly Smith — Google review
Somewhat disappointed. First it should be part of our national park system. Secondly for the price there really wasn't much to see. Poor timing on my part because the gardens were not blooming much and half the Mansion was under renovation. Definitely enjoy the history of the mansion and how it was expanded from just a small building to what it is today.

An absolute favorite for the family! So much history to explore and experience here. You can easily spend all day here, reading up on all the stories about George Washington and those who lived in this estate. I recommend buying tickets before arriving for a chance to walk through the actual house.

Love history? You must come here! Takes you back in time. Loved the tour of the actual home. The property is huge.
You can buy tickets online and set a tie for the tour or you can buy once you arrived. There was plenty of parking when we visited but I’m sure during warmer months parking is limited. So come early.
We loved it so much we bought the membership. I can come during the week with my son. They have live animals like sheep and bulls.
I saw people walking with their dogs- therefore dog friendly, bring your furry friend.

The National Museum of the Marine Corps is a modern facility located near Marine Corps Base Quantico, showcasing the rich history of the military branch. With an impressive glass atrium and over 118,000 square feet of space, visitors can explore exhibits that honor those who have served and sacrificed for their country. The museum also hosts retirement ceremonies for Marines who have dedicated over 24 years to their service.
I loved the life-size displays. They had a multitude of rooms displaying the history of the Marines from the revolutionary War to the present. A couple of theaters gave you a feel for the basic training experience. The water color art and s ulptures were awesome.

Beautiful facility all around. Depend on it taking you a couple of hours inside and probably nearly that long outside. The guides within the museum are very helpful and enthusiastic about their jobs. Take the walk and check out the outside monuments as well. You won’t be disappointed. And don’t miss Chesty!

One of the best museums I have visited so far, which was a pleasant surprise. The layout makes sense and will take you through the eras the Marine Corps has served our nation. Each exhibit is chock full of valuable information and amazing artifacts. Children will especially love the tanks, planes, helicopters, and other military vehicles they have on display here. There’s even two more sections that will be opening within the next year, so definitely stop by if you’re in the area or enjoy military memorabilia.

My son retired from the USMC after serving his country for more than 24 years. His retirement ceremony was held at the USMC museum. It was like being in the presence of greatness... looking around the museum and then the way the ceremony is carried out is simply fantastic. You can't help but think of all the men and women that have retired before and the ones to come later. That leads to thoughts of the ones that didn't make it home. There are so many that served but didn't make a career of it... but they are also very important.

An architecturally beautiful building filled with a high quality Museum dedicated to the United States Marine corps. The main lobby is filled with military equipment and realistic military displays. The museum exhibits line the outer rim of the lobby. Highly recommend starting at the beginning here sign and then working your way around the circle so that it flows in chronological order.
If you're interested in the military or have close family that have served in the Marine corps you could likely spend many hours in the museum. If you're just stopping by 1:00 to 3 hours or likely to be sufficient. Highly recommend at least walking through every single exhibit just to see the fantastic displays.
Unfortunately the war on terrorism and the modern day Marine corps exhibit was closed when we visited in November 2022

Amazing! I'm not a Marine, or even military for that matter, although I fully appreciate the sacrifices that have been made. But this museum is a must see for everyone. Extremely well done exhibits done in multiple different ways. Some very powerful with the voices of people who were in the battles. Walk into rooms with recreations of battle voices and sounds with explosions coming from every direction. You can walk through into an amphibious landing vehicle or a troop helicopter. And so much more. The place is huge and very modern. Take the kids, it's really not graphic or scary but drives the message home. And it's free. Don't miss this one!

Plan to spend the day! So much to see, read, and experience (inside and out), you'll probably still have to plan more visits to take it all in. There is the Tun Tavern and a place for burgers to keep you going! And a gift shop with all things Marine.

I go every year for the Marine Corps birthday on Nov. 10th with some of my brothers. It's definitely the best museum I've ever been to. There is plenty of history and things to read about. Tons of real artifacts, and they use real people to model their mannequins. I'm very proud of this museum. A must-see for everyone.

The exhibits were well done. You can tell the work that was put into it. I thought the combat environments were great especially for others to get a glimpse into the chaos of war. I was thinking that maybe there would be a warning on the glass, for those with PTSD or kids...but I think it's okay without the warning...I mean, this is what Marines do. I am a big fan of art and I wish there was a way that we could buy original works of the combat artists from the gallery. Please continue to have Marine Corps art displayed. I live it. My favorite thing in the entire museum was the sculpture of the Marine Rifleman with different Marine Corps things coming out of its body. Amazing museum. I intend to make a donation to the museum.

Amazing museum with lots of exhibits on the history of the US Marines. There is a lot to check out. You can watch a movie about the Marines and how they serve us. There is also a lot of tanks and airplanes. I like how each exhibit is organized into sections about a certain war. It is very clean and the I especially like the architecture of the museum. It’s very nice how the admission is free and there is so much to see here. There is a new exhibit opening soon about the Iraq war and I will definitely come back and check it out once it’s open. My 5 yr old son absolutely loved it and me being a son of a Marine and a history buff I was very pleased with the displays, the layout of the museum and can’t wait for its completion. Plus the outdoor walking paths were peaceful and beautiful and I’m proud to say my father will have a brick honoring him alongside all the other heroes.

Excellent museum, the guides were eager to share their knowledge with those in attendance but weren't pushy about it. The displays are layed out in a nice chronological order of the various time periods that have changed the Marines, however, each area is set off from a main corridor so you can go to a specific era if you want.

Purchased a brick for my Dad and presented the certificate to him several years ago. Dad passed in 2018, and this was the first time we had the opportunity to visit. The entire walk to locate his brick was humbling, like being at the National Cemetary in DC. Beautiful grounds and the museum requires more than one day to visit.

People there to help with questions it is a double floor establishment, but they have an elevator if you don’t want to climb the stairs or if you can climb the stairs. Love all the history here, we didn’t have time to walk the grounds but those looked amazing as well.
We will come back and walk the grounds on another day.

Amazing experience!! Loved it...all of it. Went on a Saturday afternoon. Went to see the Orchid Show, which was fabulous. It was a wee bit crowded inside the conservatory but it was worth it. The orchid displays were worth the trip. It's late winter but the gardens were beginning to show color. The gardens have really nice walkways. Nothing strenuous. You can even walk on the grass! Admission was free on Labor Day, walking through the entire garden took around 2 hours, stopping several times to take in the scenery. This is one of the most family-friendly places I've visited, the park is filled with high-quality experiences for children. For 96° summer afternoons, water and sun protection are a must!
Some highlights for me were the live music performance at the historic Bloemendaal house, the Incanto sculptures by Kate Raudenbush scattered throughout the park, and the see-through beehive at the Kroger community garden. The gift shop was also quite large and the old ladies working there were very charming. Lovely visit overall!

This is one of my happy places. I've been a member for years now, and it's always a peaceful place to recharge my emotional batteries. The staff are always kind and friendly. I head up to the conservatory (not sure if that's the right word) first to look at the orchids, and the butterflies when they're there. Then I do a leisurely lap around the grounds, listening to the water, looking at the flowers and enjoying the turtles and fish that are there.
But not the heron. There is a heron that shows up sometimes. He is my nemesis, and he only seems to show up when I don't have my big camera with me.
It's nice to be able to sit on the porch of the tea house and just exist for awhile. They also have classes (I've taken one about spices and another about rice) that are amazing. Highly recommend this place.

Came here for the first time during the Christmas light festival. The decorations were beautiful, though initially felt like a sensory overload. Plenty of parking available. Well run event. And the ground had hard top so it was easy for everyone to navigate.
Super chilly night and wish I had brought a warm beverage like many others. Now I'm curious to see all the plants inside and definitely will have to come back for a daytime visit.

We visited in January and it was a delightful experience. Lunch at the cafe was tasty and exactly what we needed after a few hours of walking around. I can't wait to visit again when more flowers are in bloom and enjoy some wine with lunch. 10/10 would go again!

I went to the show today, and it was phenomenal. The Orchids bloomed beautifully. The people were friendly, and the rain hindered nothing. I enjoyed myself. I will visit again.

An absolutely amazing experience. It was raining so we couldn't enjoy the outdoors. It was so much to see. I would have to come back. Artwork and collections are beautiful. Definitely coming back!! A nice place for a date. Food served for a price the reflect the cost for buying from a museum.

100% recommend coming to this art museum! It is FREE and only costs $6 to park. What I like most about this museum is that there is an exhibit for everyone! Everything from Egyptian tombs to traditional paintings to contemporary art and even stunning jewelry and furniture. There is EVERYTHING here! I visited in January and had a fantastic time. I would recommend this place to anyone and plan to bring friends back. This is 100% the best art museum I’ve ever been to. I think it’s even better than the one in D.C. (way less crowded too). There are also tons of clean restrooms and a nice gift shop. You could easily spend 5+ hours here - it’s a spectacular museum.

Amazing museum! Very family friendly and it has a surprising amount of art(50k pieces!). We spent a few hours there and still didn't see all of the art. Admission is free, but I would have paid to visit this place. There are Faberge eggs there! Definitely a must visit if you're in Richmond!

I've been going to the VMFA for 35 years and watching it grow has been kind of incredible. While it has had over the years some interesting and not so interesting shows that cost money to see, it's their permanent collections that really impress. We went on a recent Saturday and it was not crowded at all. We spent 2 hours looking and only got through the second floor in that time. The VMFA has a very varied collection, fine art of all periods, ancient antiquities, an elaborate silver collection, Faberge eggs and frames, Asian and African art, furniture, jewelry and all types of Tiffany pieces and art glass. You are allowed to photograph but no flash. It was free to get in but you need tickets to see some temporary exhibits that are visiting. This is the only place it seems lacking, most of these shows are of limited interest and not anywhere near as impressive as their permanent items. We had no problem with any staff. It would be nice if people visiting a museum knew had to act in public though. Talking loud, laughing, carrying on like they were at a mall and not a museum. Still the place is big enough that you can make the effort to avoid those people. The area around the museum is also very beautiful.

Museum has something for everyone. Great way to spend a day in downtown Richmond. The Faberge section was my favorite but also enjoyed the Egyptian items. Fiance is more into art and to see Picasso and Renoit in person is amazing. Gift shop has a lot of age different items to choose from, and Cafe for the munchies so you don't have to leave too soon. Plan to spend about 3 hours if you really want to appreciate it all. Cameras are allowed just without flash. Museum is free but tickets are needed for additional area such as the Samurai armor.

Great place to attend. New art. I love art. Art is part of me. If it's part of you, then visit this place. You won't regret it. I promise.

Impressive museum with collections from various cultures/time periods including Ancient Greek/Roman, African, American, Native American, European, and East/South Asian. However, what made this museum a little more special for me was the Art Deco/Nouveau section which is rarely part of the main galleries of the art museums.
General admission is FREE which is great as you can really take your time and see part of the museum and then come back at another time to see the rest.
In addition to the permanent collections they also do have ongoing exhibitions (some of them requires you to buy tickets).
Sculpture garden is nice to take a break and enjoy a cup of coffee or have a bite at a nice day.
Inside the museum masks are optional.
Free street parking nearby or $6 museum parking.
Overall an excellent experience - thanks everyone contributing the smooth operation of this museum, your work is really appreciated!

I am New to Richmond. I just moved here from New York. The Virginia museum of fine arts was my first outing as a resident. It was amazing. There is no way to cover it all in one day or even two! There is so much to see. It has so much to offer! I will be going back!

This is one of my favorite museums (and I grew up going to the Smithsonian Museums all the time)! I always visit the Faberge exhibit, it is exquisite! The museum also allows and encourages photography, so have fun taking photos!
There is also a nice restaurant and cafe if you need food or a pick-me up. And there's plenty of seating in the cafe, but also outside. The grounds of the museum are also worth visiting on their own. There were plenty of people lounging in the grass, working on their laptops in the shade, etc... It looks like the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Richmond.

So much more exciting than I expected! Lots of exhibits, many of which we didn’t get to. Free admission besides the specialty display downstairs. Fine art displays feature world renowned artists and their works. There’s a wide array of sculptures, artifacts, and paintings.

Great place to come for some art! Beautiful old building to walk around in and explore all the wings with different types of art. Plus they usually have a special exhibit going on which is always worth checking out. Nice little cafe with some good coffee, various drinks and snacks to eat. The outside patio, garden and fountains on the grounds are great to sit around and relax in. They have a jazz night and various events that bring in the crowds which is a good time if you are looking for something to do. And as you can see from the pictures sometimes you can catch a majestic sunset here.

Highly recommend this art museum. To start off, it’s FREE, all I had to pay for was parking which was $5. Definitely worth it. They have such a wide variety of different types of art from all over the world and different time periods. My favorite piece of art was the Fabergé eggs. Really cool to see the different jewels they used to make them.

I love the VMFA. With over 500,000 square feet of exhibition space on a thirteen acre campus, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has so much to offer. Whether your interest is ancient Egyptian art, Cubist paintings or Russian jewelry, this museum has something for everyone.
There’s a cafe on the main level with outdoor seating that looks out over a reflection pond and the beautifully landscaped sculpture garden.
The museum gift shop is large and full of all sorts of great artsy things.
This is easily one of the best museums in the country. And it’s free!
There is a parking garage, which does have a fee, but it’s possible to find free on street parking, as long as you don’t mind walking a block or two.
I highly recommend a visit to this museum.

VMA is truly a gem of a museum. It has a top notch diverse collection that is wonderfully spaced out. You can leisurely view all the galleries without feeling overwhelmed or over saturated. The grounds and the outdoor sculptures are equally impressive. This is a must-see if you’re in Richmond.

Beautiful collection with so many unique highlights - the furniture, Fabergé eggs, Tiffany lamps, just to name a few. The sculpture gardens out back are the perfect place to enjoy a coffee or read a book. And admission is free (some special exhibits are ticketed)!

I am giving one star with a heavy heart. I was visiting family and we were all so excited to come visit the museum. Upon arriving we saw beautiful pieces of work. It was going great. About 10 minutes into our visit we were approached by a museum employee who told us to put our diaper bag on facing forward, they explained it was to keep the works safe from being knocked over. That made sense and we obliged. No problem. However, it would have been helpful if we would’ve been greeted at the front and given that information. But no harm. We carried on (diaper bag facing forward) through the galleries. We entered a long hallway area with paintings hung on either side. My niece (who is 1) was wriggling in my brothers arms. Since we were in a space with nothing that could be knocked over - He set her down and off she went, keep in mind she’s 1…so her run is the equivalent of a quick walk. We were on one side of the gallery and from the other side of the hall we heard booming yelling. It was so loud that it echoed and it was hard to hear what was being shouted. My sister in law took a few steps forward and a man appeared, she said to him “I’m sorry, what was that?”. Again, he yelled “NO RUNNING IN THE GALLERY”. We were too stunned to speak - he was so clearly absolutely furious. My brother scooped up my niece - at this point we were terrified to make another wrong move. It was SO deflating. We left shortly after this encounter because we felt totally unwelcome. I’m not arguing that the gallery should be treated like a race track - what I do think is that there was a more kind way to communicate with us. There were some amazing pieces but the staff at the Museum was incredibly rude and we left very disappointed. I have a fine arts degree, I’ve worked and shown work in galleries. I understand there’s certain etiquette - but I also understand how to communicate with kindness and grace. I hope that the staff, and specifically that employee learn and do better.

We went for it first visit and were excited to see works from Matisse, John Singer Sargent. It was wheelchair friendly, high quality art work from a high caliber art museum. It highlighted different artists from the Cubist, Impressionist and The Gilded Age. We will be back, we couldn't complete the museum in one visit. The visit is free, so don't worry about buying tickets. There is a cafe and coat check.

Beautiful, stunning, charming, peaceful, relaxing are just a few of the words that come to mind. Great for the family, great for dates, great just to get away. Kid friendly, wheelchair accessible, clean, well kept. If you are in the area go visit. Did I mention that it is free.

Excellent place to spend quality time with family or significant others. There’s always a cultural event or exposition going on. On weekends they have an event called “Family Day” where you can bring kids to do paintings and other activities. They even give them a “passport” where you can have a stamp for each activity that they completed. And the best part: it’s free, you don’t have to pay. It worth a visit!

My favorite sections were the India artifacts and information and the Russian artifacts (the eggs!!) What an awesome museum. Fantastic art pieces throughout as well... I would definitely go back!
Only downside was that I felt American and French items were just paintings (tons of horses and abstract) or furniture while other cultures/countries had amazing artifacts, jewelry and paintings.

The Faberge collection here was phenomenal! I have visited the Armoury Museum in Moscow which contains some Faberge objects which belong to the Russian Government as well as the Faberge Museum in St. Petersburg, and I can easily say this was the best collection of Faberge I have ever seen. Not only did they have 5 of the famous Faberge Easter eggs, they had numerous large pieces of Faberge silver as well as many hard stone pieces including numerous carved animals and flowers. All were beautifully displayed and lit and easy to view in uncrowded spaces. They also had a beautiful Impressionist painting collection. And all for FREE! Highly recommend!

This was our first time visiting the museum. My daughter loved that some of it was interactive. She took time to sketch her favorite piece. We found street parking and didn't enter through the main entrance. They don't allow you to wear backpacks on your back you have to hang it off the shoulder or wear it the front way.

I’m such a fan of the VMFA. I have a fond memory of seeing an impressionist exhibit as a high school student here, and it was the first time I realized I enjoyed art. I’m always impressed with the exhibits they manage to secure, and I never leave feeling disappointed. I would recommend getting the membership - it’s just not that expensive and if you see a few exhibits and use their parking garage, the membership easily pays for itself. I went to see an exhibit there last year and was lucky enough to stumble across a fashion show! Loved the energy and the artistry. Check their upcoming events - I feel like they’re always adding something new to the calendar.
I wish I had more photos to add…I need to dig some up! It’s a beautiful building and they transform the space to enhance each exhibit.

The VMFA had incredible collections from a variety of artists, periods and movements. Typically I have gone on week days and have never seen it very crowded at all. Wow, such a nice day outing. This botanical garden is free to enter, has farm animals, several gardens, and much more. Saw ton of people taking wedding/senior pictures and having picnics. We arrived at 3pm on a Friday and the parking lot was packed but we were able to find the last one. I do believe there is street parking though. There are also public restrooms here. It's a hugh place so although there were a lot of people, we walked around freely without feeling crowded. If you enjoy botanical gardens, you'll be glad you check out this place.

Beautiful piece of history. I visited the mansion with family based on a recommendation and I enjoyed my visit. The house itself is very dark and moody, but in a very historical way. Definitely recommend making a visit! Especially to see the beautiful Tiffany glass, it’s the highlight of the home.

The staff were genuinely lovely and happy to chat, the grounds were wide-ranging, extensive and easy to get lost in and the house itself was both interesting and well-explained by the audio guide which very, very delicately tried to thread the needle between telling you the history of the house and exquisitely dancing around some of the details of the history of the house, but that's kind of par for the course in this sort of place. Definitely worth visiting if you should happen to be in or around Richmond and looking for a bit of a wander in the open.
Just don't trust the guidebook map, because I swear that thing was laughing at me every time I got turned around. ^_^

Maymont is just beautiful- we went in April and everything was in bloom. The grounds are extensive, so plan on a lot of walking as well as taking some steep steps to reach the lower river area which is a perfect picnic spot. Great place for kids too as they’ll enjoy seeing the animals and having numerous fields to explore. Can’t wait to go back!

This is a 100 acre estate run by the Maymont Foundation and greatly supported by visitor donations. This is a grand historical estate with plenty of activities to do. You will burn calories just from walking around this rocky hillside park. The park is open to the public, but suggests a $5 donation upon entry. There are other charged options like the Mansion Tour. The grounds are well maintained and family friendly. Picnics are strongly encouraged. There is an Italian garden, a Japanese garden, an aviary, a petting farm, the Mayont Mansion (which was closed for the season)and a learning center (which was closed for the season). I missed season opening by a few days. At this time, a few flowers like daffodils are blooming. None of the fountains are up and running when i visited. I am sure this park is amazing more into spring. You can easily spend a whole day here. Well worth the stop.

I wish the ponds were clean and at least the ponds have water in the Japanese garden and Italian garden. It was cool to see wildlife freely roaming. Also no bathrooms or benches near the Japanese gardens. Both the waterfall and cascade had no water which was a missed opportunity.

It was beautiful!! It's not very handicap friendly, but I tried to take on the garden. *The garden won. 🤫 I let the girls go. They really enjoyed the beauty of the place. Got a few pictures. It was super nice and cool in the shade. The model was very professional and vibrant!! Our model is wearing a flowing dress and her favorite shoes. I definitely suggest wearing sneakers... and an oxygen tank. A really nice guy in a golf cart gave me a ride back to the entrance because I'm old and fat. I DIDN'T DIE!! I did a lot of praying to make it back to my car. Here's some pictures and my breathtaking model!! Enjoy! I know this review is late because we went on a Saturday. I need time and life-support to recover. They had live music, but that didn't start until 6 pm, and we live in Norfolk!! I'm not driving at night! Trees, sasquatch, and probably aliens come out at night!! Don't act like trees are innocent!! I'll end my rant here. 10 out of 10 will let my husband take the kids back. If I have to go, I'm waiting in the car or near the entrance. GO WILD!

I had a great time visiting Maymont! I recommend doing the audio tour, because the information provided really enhances the experience of walking through the mansion and gardens.

This was a beautiful park that is free and open to the public. Certain things do cost money on a per diem basis but to explore the park, walk through the various gardens, listen to music, or participate in the activities hosted by the park are all free. The park is quite large so make sure you bring comfortable clothes, shoes, and water. There were several ideal places for an intimate or small family picnic too. Parking was free where we were, but limited so street parking may be needed. I did not see anyone on bikes or scooters so I am not sure if these things are prohibited or not.

Google maps directed us through some weird streets but finally got us there. Located on the banks of the James River with hills, valleys and large trees, this garden cemetery is a beautiful and serene place to walk around. Various tours are offered here, but self guided tours can be taken by downloading a map or getting a map from the visitor center for $1. This is the burial place of two Presidents of the United States and 6 Governors of Virginia. There are many headstones that are works of art. We also came across some animal statues beside a few headstones.

If there is only one historical cemetery you ever visit in your lifetime, it must be this one! It is vast, extensively, beautifully landscaped, and tended to meticulously. Park-like in its atmosphere, it feels more like an outdoor museum of sorts, as people walk the myriad paths for exercise as well as to browse the many headstones, monuments, and mausoleums, old to newer. The views of Richmond are picturesque, and you can drive thru the cemetery if you don't wish to walk. It is immense, so my folks and I drove along and stopped where we chose to get out and view graves as we went. This place is a must see!

Hollywood Cemetery is beautiful and well-maintained. It only has one entrance/exit that wasn't locked, which didn't register in Google when we were trying to exit. If you're going to walk here, bring a water bottle. It's very interesting to see people that were important to Richmond's history, the gravestones are mostly clear and legible, and the walking path is smooth. It's a little hilly, which looks lovely, but keep it in mind if you've got poor knees. You're able to drive the whole park if walking it isn't an option for you.

Photos do not do Hollywood Cemetery justice, ditto, as so many others have said the same thing. Leave your car at the entrance and just wander under the canopy of trees. You will not be able to see the whole place in one visit so just enjoy the time you do have to wander, to read the headstones, to see the care and love given to the selection of each site. It is very hilly and you will lose your breath, but you won't regret walking.

I think this is a must visit in Richmond. Beautiful grounds and the views from near Presidents circle of the river and city are unmatched. Cemeteries usually freak me out but the feeling here is somehow more upbeat. There is a ton of history there and the visitors appreciate it. I encourage anyone to give it a visit, preferentially in the daytime, I am not brave enough to traverse these hollowed grounds in the dark.

May all those souls rest in peace.
The White House of the Confederacy is a museum containing the largest collection of Confederate artifacts and memorabilia during the years of the Civil War. It is located in Richmond, Virginia, and is open to visitors year-round. The museum was created by war veterans and Confederate leaders themselves, as a way to preserve their personal belongings and memories of the war.
I enjoyed the tour a lot. They did an excellent work restoring the historical accuracy of the house and preserving it. White House of the Confederacy is a unique place to learn about American history and plunge into the everyday life and work of Jefferson Davis and his family. Although our tour guide was great, I would suggest adding more content on the history & politics of the American South and reducing the amount of information about their everyday routine. Potentially, they could run several tours for those who are interested to learn about various aspects of that era. Their souvenir shop deserves special attention! Make sure to check it out because they have some extraordinary artifacts that are not so easy to purchase online these days.

Had a really fun time at this small museum. My husband and I wanted to kill some time in Richmond and came upon this & we were blown away. The museum is smack dab in downtown in between the hospitals. We parked at the hospital parking lot and it was a quick 3 minute walk.

This tour took around an hour and I definitely recommend it.

I was surprised to stumble across something so infamous as the home of the President of the Confederacy right in the heart of Richmond. I did not get a tour of the inside but spent some time reading historic markers about the building on the outside. It was dark when I got here so it gave a real eerie vibe to the area. Would love to learn more about the building next time I visit.

A great museum if you are into American history. Admission is with guided tours only, and it makes sense - the house isn't big, and a guided tour provides you with the history of the house. Great souvenir shop. We enjoyed our tour, our only suggestion is to focus more on the history of the Confederacy rather than on personal stories. We were disappointed that the third floor was closed to the public. The museum is worth visiting.

Well worth the visit! As Civil War history buffs, we're always skeptical of anything owned and operated by a private group. This was a fantastic tour. The tour guide, Charlie, was extremely knowledgeable and did a fantastic job. You need to reserve your time slot online and purchase tickets in advance. It's an excellent tour. We were so impressed that we came back the next day with our family who were traveling with us. They do a fantastic job of presenting a fairly unbiased view of the Civil War and the history of the Confederate White House as well as its occupants. We'd go again!

Excellent tour. Highly recommend. It was definitely interesting to hear more about the Davis family. Before today, I knew nothing but the name of Jefferson Davis. The museum is located smack dab in the middle of a hospital complex, and parking can be a little tricky. Tours are limited to 18 people each. Definitely recommend booking in advance. We went on a Thursday at 10:30am and our tour had 10 people in it, so I could see later in the day and weekends booking up.

Excellent small museum you should visit when you're in town. As others have said, it's hidden in a world of hospitals and parking garages and can get lost very easily - but it's still there.
Nathan gave an excellent tour and the staff is full of knowledge and unique informational tid bits about the site.
Definitely give yourself plenty of time to find some parking if you are coming on a scheduled tour, the people coming in and out of the parking garages for the medical center can be slower than molasses - then the elevator somehow decides it can go even slower. Plus if you're driving in from out of town - it's a sea of one ways - be prepared for that while you're following the GPS, ensuring you're on the right street *AND* watching out for all the pedestrians.

Roured the old Confeferate capital building and enjoyed the experance. They have some but not all of the original items. They have done a good job restoring the building. It first served as a privet house, then the Confedetate capital building ,after that Union headquarters for 5 years. It then became a school and finally a museum.

100% recommend. Our tour guides name is Charlie and I could of easily spent all day listening to all the knowledge that he has. Beyond incredible. We went for girl scouts and we had a large group. We were able to ask questions. Well worth the time and money.

This is a beautiful building that is hidden right in the middle of VCU hospital. Google directions might confuse you trying to find it. The gift shop was closed. Tours are by appointment, so I was unable to go into the building.
The Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center is a living history museum that accurately recreates life in 18th century America. The attraction contains 88 original buildings, as well as hundreds of faithful reproductions, and employs actors in period costumes to immerse guests in the experience. Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area is a must-see for anyone interested in learning about colonial life in America.
Informative and very fun! Don’t hit everything, just what you’re interested in. Expensive and not as immersive as I’d hoped, but still recommend. I wish their roads weren’t asphalt, but cobblestone or something more realistic.

It is completely our fault for realizing not a lot is open this time of year and NOTHING is open after 5pm. Fortunately, we had not yet bought tickets. So we bought the self-guided audio walking tour from Action Tour Guide. I loved it. The 12 year old was bored and the 16 year was nostalgic from when she came with grandparents when she was younger. Not a criticism, just a heads-up.

Colonial Williamsburg exceeded expectations by far. I thought it was just going to be a tourist trap, but it wasn’t. Even the service at the ticket counter was super nice. The tickets are expensive but worth it if you spend the entire day. We walked over on the path from the welcome center, but there is also a shuttle. Our first stop was the governors palace. We attended a talk by Patrick Henry, and then we did a tour of the governors palace. Christine did a fantastic job. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and nice to my kids. There are places to eat right offsite or in “town.” You can find the open exhibits because they have a flag outside. You cannot do everything in one day, so prioritize what you want to see.

Amazing and beautiful! Our family loves Williamsburg. An awesome opportunity to teach your littles a piece of history or maybe learn a little more yourself! You don’t need to purchase tickets to walk around but if you want to tour the insides or certain buildings you will need to purchase tickets online or at the visitor center. You can walk to the colonial town from the merchant square or if you start at the visitor center you walk over the bridge and start from there. There are shuttles as well that can take you to and from the historic area. Definitely worth the visit if you enjoy history!

Peaceful atmosphere, great customer service, amazing food. I love the colonial houses with the wreath's and Christmas decorations. Photos taken Dec. 31, 2021. (Blue light started appearing in my pictures when I started taking pictures at the beautiful church)

Informative and fun place to visit. Be sure to get at least the one day pass in order to get the full effect of the many docents and role players throughout the site. You can park and walk for free, but you need a pass to enter most of the historic buildings. See artisans at work: printers, blacksmiths, carpenters, bakers, homeowners, etc etc. You also get to ride the shuttle buses with a paid ticket. You can expect to do a lot of walking. NOTE: MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS are the days off for all of the main restaurants and some of the historic homes. You can take the shuttle or walk to the market area which is technically outside the historic district, and find some restaurants open. Also, if you are active, retired or a military vet, you will get discounts on admission and in any of the merchant stores. There's also a USO style building with free coffee and drinks. If you have a challenge coin, bring it and they will trade it for one of theirs. There's a wall full of ones that vets have brought in. All of this will be explained by the friendly ticket agents at the welcome center. You can avoid waiting in line by buying tickets online, but we had a lot more information from the live folks. All of the period costumed staff throughout the site are more than willing to assist with any questions you might have.

I went with my husband to see if I would enjoy it for a second time 25 years later. It did not disappoint. If you want to go on any tours such as a carriage ride or night ghost tour you need to book them in advance, they were sold out when we got there for the day. We did the guided tours watched Thomas Jefferson on the stage and enjoyed walking the town. We didn't pay attention to time and missed the taverns open hours so we picked up a few snacks from the bakery.

The Governor's Palace is a historical landmark in Virginia that was used by British royals and the first two elected Virginia rulers. It is now home to a museum where you can learn about life in 18th century Virginia. The palace has been extensively restored, so it is very kid-friendly and full of informative exhibits. You can join a tour or just wander around on your own.
It was a great tour. We did buy tickets to be able to enter all the buildings that were open on Christmas Day. The entire area and the people that ran the tour were all friendly. The weather was beautiful to be able to walk around and enjoy all the Christmas decorations and wreaths on all the houses. Each house had a different wreath they were made with different fruits and shells, etc. They were absolutely beautiful!

We very much enjoyed our tour of the governor's Palace. This building is handicap accessible for those with wheelchairs. However if you can't climb the steps not expect to gain access to the second floor. The tour guides were all very accommodating. Also, if you want more time to enjoy the rooms, visit when the self guided tour is available.

Highly recommended! This area is just so beautiful, with a lot of history. There’s so many things to do and see, and the tour was just wonderful, about 30 minutes long, our guide did a fantastic job! Great for kids and adults. And the kids loved the maze too!

Great first visit to this place. Loved the history and seeing where so much occurred to form what made our country.
Lots of walking but the staff are great and really show a love for what they do.
Improvements - the buses need help. We waited over 30 mins for a bus that was full. The next one was standing room only with a rude driver. If she yelled at us to fill in like sardines one more time, I would have walked.

We walked through the gardens and did the guided tour. I was not impressed with it, but I would still say to do the tour at least once. Our tour guide talked quietly and was hard to hear at times. The gardens I feel like could have been maintained more and added to. Just felt like missed opportunities. But was still cool to see the decor of that time and the outside rooms like the cellar. We visited during the summer time and the tours filled up quick to where we had to wait on a bench for about 30 minutes just to save our spot.

This place is beautiful! The tour was only about 30 minutes but was full of interesting info coming from a good actor and tons of beautiful things to look at. It may not be the BEST for small children, but my small child loves history and he did super well.

The tour was short and sweet, but very informative and we got to see the whole palace. It was gorgeous!! We also were able to walk around in the gardens. In the gardens were lots of beautiful flowers and plants, a hedge maze, and a trail down to a pond filled with fish, frogs, turtles, and other wildlife

Jamestown Settlement is a living history museum that recreates the European settlement of 1607, featuring three ships and a Powhatan village. Visitors can take guided tours of the outdoor exhibits, which are led by knowledgeable and personable guides while interpreters provide an entertaining experience. The highlight of the museum includes the ships and Fort. The indoor exhibits are also well curated and maintained. Suitable for all ages, it is recommended to visit in winter on a weekday to avoid peak season crowds.
Awesome piece of history. Enjoyed every moment of being here - from the introduction video played, to the galleries, to the settlement, native village, and ships. The folks working here were very knowledgeable and friendly as well. Definitely recommend taking the time
to check this place out. I added a few pics below to show what’s available outside, but I’ll leave the indoor galleries for the visitor to see !

Very interesting place to visit if you want to understand the history of the settlers in the United States. It was fascinating seeing how people built and lived in a community before modern technology. This is a nice place to stroll leisurely through history. I highly recommend visiting this historical location and seeing what it took to survive in a transitional period.

Jamestown was a great experience, especially for the kids. There's a lot to take in but the kids can touch a lot of it which makes it feel like a real experience. The kids loved putting on the armor and hats and really enjoyed the ship. The indoor exhibit was insightful and interesting as well. The people who were giving demonstrations were great at telling their stories and showing us what the tools were used for, how the bartering system worked and more. You need at least half a day to see and be able to appreciate the whole experience. The cafe had a lot of options to choose from. There are deli sandwiches, hot grilled food, salads, desserts and even snack items for quick bites. The gift shop near the entrance of the lobby when you first arrive is very nice. There was a lot of things to look at and the kids loved looking around and picking out their gifts. There are so many neat toys and books for the little ones.

Interesting place to spend a few hours. Replicas of the ships the first settlers to the United States used, people in period correct costumes sharing knowledge, a village, shot tower, and an indoor museum going back to pre-settlement.
Excellent for children and adults alike.

This place was amazing! There is so much to see and do! One of the highlights going with 2 kids and my mother was the abundance of air conditioning options (and cafe) if it gets too hot! The actors were really friendly and informative. Everything was clean and wasn't hard to locate at all! We loved the interactive games outside also! While we were there it wasn't overly crowded. We got in at 9 and we're able to get front row parking and had time to see the entire place before it started filling up with people! Even after, it is a great experience!

Loved every second of my four hour visit here. Could have stayed longer. At first I wasn't sure about having to take a guided tour for the outdoor exhibits (in certain weeks in winter they don't allow you to meander around), but I am actually really happy I was offered a tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable, the interpreters were fantastic fun and I didn't want to leave. The ships and the Fort were definitely highlights. The indoor exhibits are also well done and everything is spotless. Great for all ages. It looks like they experience large crowds in peak season, if that's not your thing plan a visit on a winter weekday and you won't be disappointed.

We had such a great time. We enjoyed touring the inside of the boat. The native Indian live exhibit is a must see. It's respectfully done and so interesting. It's like stepping back into their village. The Jamestown settlement was a little more sparsely done that I would have thought with a lot less actors but the ones there were excellent and informative. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The museum portion was excellent.

This was a fun adventure. There was a walk through education center with all sorts of exhibits. The Jamestown replica stronghold was nice and informative. The Native American village was informative. All the staff were friendly, informative and, all around amazing. The 3 boats on the water were very informative. Crazy to think how small they are and that they (are replicas) crossed the ocean. A good place to spend some time and see a lil early Americana.

Amazing museum that is interactive and a fun place to explore. They have a couple of shows to watch, a few demonstrations of musket firing, blacksmithing, cooking and sailing. I recommend getting the combo pass so you get into Yorktown as well with the price of one. All in all, a great experience for the family.
Historic Jamestowne is an intriguing site managed by the NPS, serving as the original location of the first permanent English settlement in North America. The settlement's remains were discovered in 1994, and visitors can explore the excavations on a free guided tour. Additionally, there is an archaeology museum called Archaearium that harbors over 4000 artifacts and features an exhibit called 'World of Pocahontas, Unearthed.
This was such a cool place to go visit. All the artifacts and information in the museums really help you get a clear picture of what life was like here. It's very cool to walk on the same land where English settlers walked 400 years ago, and also a bit sobering to know that many of the settlers died on that very land. The nearby musuem and replicas of the ships and Fort James are also very interesting and worth a look. All in all, a very cool experience.

It was incredible to see the area first colonized in the USA. The day was perfect, weather-wise, and there was so much to see. The best part was the gentleman native American explaining how he was making an arrowhead in the traditional way. He showed and explained the tools he was using and how he was using them. He even explained the action to flake off pieces of stone to shape and sharpen it.
You enter through the main building and purchase tickets. They give you a sticker to wear as proof you paid. It's dog friendly and there is a gift shop/ post office inside. After passing through the building you walk across a long walking bridge. The tall obelisk is the first thing you see, then just beyond it is the church and you walk into the original Jamestown settlement. Beyond it is the building with artifacts.
There are plenty of benches to sit and rest while you watch the ferries go by. It was cool with the breeze coming off the water.

Absolutely amazing place. It's so interesting to see the remnants of this country's origins. The archaeologists love taking questions and everyone there is so well-informed and just eager to share with you. Some of the archaeologists had actually found a couple of pieces while we were there and they showed them to us. It was a wonderful experience.

Historic Jamestown is maintained by the National Park Service. Excavations are ongoing. Jamestown is the beginning of America. It is another story of the early struggles of the first settlers. There are lots to see and learn. The first fort on American soil is here. The first mansions are here. It is the story of people coming from all nations for a new beginning and contributing what they bring to the development of a new nation. I wholly recommend this tour.

I would give it 5 stars but they have fenced off the best parts of the historic areas requiring a separate $15.00 entry fee. I was told this started in October 2023. Sort of a shame what the powers to be did here.

I haven't been back here for 30 years since I was a child, and I returned today with my kid and got to relive my childhood. Place looks so much better than what I remember as far as the museum areas go, and I'm happy they got as much going on as they do as this is an excellent place to preserve. Would highly recommend and I'm more than likely to come back with the family to tour the grounds a little more slowly. Had a wonderful time!

This is the original Jamestown settlement. There is the US National Park and the Preservation Virginia area. There are two separate admissions. The Preservation Virginia side host the Archaearium Archaeology Museum, the Memorial Church, statues of John Smith and Pocahontas, and a fort replica. The National Park side has an obelisk monument and the grounds of the new Jamestown Settlement.

If you are a military family the entrance will be free for all of the member of the family. That itself deserves a five star!
Most of the interesting things to see are outside so if you are afraid of Covid, go there confident. At the entrance of the welcome center, someone is at the ready to answer any questions before you buy your tickets.
We experienced NO wait, maybe because we traveled there before Christmas and during weekday.
Inside the welcoming center, there is a very cute souvenir store. There is also like a video room but that was closed — probably due to Covid restrictions.
Outside was lots of fun. The kids loved it. The excavation site was fascinating for them. They also simply loved running around and see the canon and statue of the first governor of Virginia.
I recommend that outing.

The location has so much historical significance and they have done such a wonderful job exploring and preserving and presenting it. We were there for 5 hours and could have spent much longer. It's great to see the oldest English settlement in America. Much of the fort has been recreated for you to visit and there are a few original areas including some stone foundations, early graves, and some brickwork.
The museum included lots of original artifacts and also some skeletons from original settlers who had been identified using historical records and scientific analysis.
The cafe was FANTASTIC. Really great soups and sandwiches.
Overall, this was great value - about half the price of visiting Williamsburg, and much more interesting in my opinion. Also, kids get in for free!
Everyone was friendly and helpful. The ticket staff helped my parents obtain a discount.

Loved this place it has 2 museums one tou walk through to get to the out side settlement and one just off to the side in the settlement. They also have a live archeology dig they let you(kids) help with.its right by the water and just a nice place to walk in the grounds flat so it's not a hard walk. It's not to bad of a distance to walk neither with lots of shady spots to set and rest.i highly recommend to get a pass such as the triangle pass. But if that to high they offer other opinions. It covers all museums ,reenactment , and touts.

It was cool. Where comfy shoes, not saddles bc it is quite a walk to see all the exhibits and lots of gravel pathways. I appreciate how much available seating sprinkled about so when you get tired from walking and need a break, a bench isn't far away.
You can tell they took care and time setting up the exhibits. It is easy to understand the history that took place here.

The site itself is pretty cool, albeit presented without much fanfare. Favorite part is definitely the archaeological museum that they have, whose staff are top notch knowledgeable and very interesting to listen to - in particular one Native speaker, I believe his name was also Daniel, gave one of the most in depth looks into the history of the first peoples here I'd ever heard.

Probably the weakest link of the Colonial Triangle, but still a fascinating place to visit. The Church is probably the focal point of the site, but there is still a lot of history to be seen here, and ongoing archaeological work being done to unearth even more. There is also a Wildlife Loop on the site with some very beautiful scenery, and 3 old graves.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! This is a MUST for schools whether local, or even out of state!! The knowledge found here for children and adults is beyond comprehension! This information is HISTORY IN THE MAKING!! To have visited today and having met a few of the archaeological team currently digging to continuously unearth artifacts dating back some 400+ years to earlier settlers of the Colonial Era when John Smith uprooted the Fort there at Jamestown, and well, … it quite breathtaking for a historian such as I to be standing in a place where the first democracy took shape. There are absolutely no words to express the surrealism of standing in this place. But then to turn and see the name of your ancestors on the wall or yet the very root of your family’s last name and thus your heritage, right there … it’s astounding!! When visiting Williamsburg, VA I recommend staying at Aldrich Bed & Breakfast where you have the opportunity of selecting several personal guided tours from Mr. Tom Patton, he and his wife Sue Patton are the Innkeepers. Mr. Patton is a Licensed Tour Guide. You have the opportunity of selecting a tour of Jamestown Island, Colonial Williamsburg, and/or Yorktown with Mr. Tom Patton. Water Country USA is an extensive aquatic amusement park that boasts a wide array of water slides and rides, including thrilling river rafting featuring tunnels and falls. Visitors can expect to have a fun-filled day at the park, but there have been some discrepancies with the website's accuracy regarding parking fees, rules on outdoor food consumption, and designated smoking areas. Despite these minor issues, Water Country USA remains an excellent destination to beat the heat on scorching days.
Fun outdoor water park with a nice variety of rides for kids of all ages. Had a few areas of play/pools for toddler aged kids. My 7 yr old loved the lazy river and wave pool. Great options in terms of cool water slides too... from the mild to the intense. Great place for entire family.

My family and another family came to Virginia for vacation and made a visit to this waterpark. We’ve all agreed it’s easily the best waterpark we’ve been to. It was clean, there was plenty of shade and everyone was super nice and helpful. We came during the week and had no problems finding anywhere to sit at any of the pool areas or food areas and nearly no wait for food and drink items. If we are ever in the area we will be returning without hesitation.

So expensive! We paid $460 for 6 people to spend 3 hours there. Another $60 in parking for 2 cars. I probably won’t go back. Everything inside was crazy expensive too. $4.99 for a Diet Coke. $16 for a pretzel & churro. There is not a lot of shade. They don’t let you bring food or drinks in either. I wasn’t impressed.

Great time for the kids. Great things to do. The queue to the different slides can be long, but they move fast. Big enough & clean. I got all-day dining tickets for my kids. I think they are no deal : too expensive for what you get, in my opinion.

The experience at the water park was good, but not excellent based on my 4 stars. For one there was a section of the park closed and second there was a big tube ride down. All the rides that were open were great, but I would prefer that the lazy river had tubes instead of floating down either by yourself or with a life vest. The food was also just ok. Lastly it would be great if there was a lane when entering parking that was a prepaid line only.

Very large waterpark, in the heart of a beautiful forested park. It gets busy and the lineups for some of the rides are long as a result, but there is a variety of thrill opportunities for all levels of comfort. A lazy river and wave pool are great for relaxing and no lineups for those! A wonderful and fun way to spend the day with family.

Wonderful day of play with my teens. We enjoyed the variety of water rides, food, and treats. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lockers weren't too expensive. Bring your waterproof phone cover and be prepared to drop your shoes at each ride and be soaked.

Bought the 2 park fun card and 1 annual pass for parking. We were in the area for a month and this is the best way to do theme parks for us.
We would go at open and leave when it got busy. The park is nice with shade throughout don’t know what others are talking about, I’ve been to parks without shade and this place has a lot. Could use a bit more water on the concrete in a few areas. Tons of great slides, no wait hardly for the first few hours.
We would pack food and eat at the picnic tables outside in the parking lot if we wanted to do a full day. Water bottles are allowed inside but no food. Bathrooms were fairly clean and well stocked.
Enjoy!

The website was a little confusing though. Parking is $25 when online I thought I read $10
Outdoor food is not permitted (but online says its okay)
Smoking (online says no smoking in the parks, but at site had a designated smoking spot behind the bathrooms)
That's the only few issues I've seen, needing information to be more accurate in person and online. But all in all, it's a great place to go to cool down on a hot day!

It is a good waterpark for children to have fun, yes! It's a little expensive but the slides are very fun my 8 and 12 year old kids really enjoyed it .
I would say that the only bad thing is the long waiting lines to get on the slide, but they have a fast pass extra purchase if you are not a big fan of waiting for a long time, but this is definitely up to you, also food and drinks are not good and they are very expensive and they don't allow any outside food or drinks into the park.
I took my son to this water park for the first time as a birthday present for him and he really enjoy it! Outside of the food and the long waits, everything else was amazing! My son was very happy!.

I've been coming here since I was in diapers. The park is clean, beautiful, and well maintained. The staff are MOSTLY friendly and helpful. The rides are great and I appreciate that they have added more umbrellas and shading, especially in the lines and rest areas. That being said, they were severely understaffed when we visited this past Sunday... which made the lines even longer and not worth waiting for anymore. Many of the rides had closed off some of their tunnels and slides too, making it worse. Management should be more prepared and pay their staff better ages to ensure that there is proper staffing... otherwise, it isn't fair to the guests who have paid to visit and enjoy themselves. Food and drinks are outrageously expensive as always, but that's nothing new.

Conveniently located off Interstate 64 between Richmond and Virginia Beach in Williamsburg is Water Country USA.
We visited on a Tuesday afternoon, 1 adult and two kids ages 10 and 12.
I highly recommend purchasing your tickets online a head of time as you receive a discount off the gate price.
Parking is 30 dollars per vehicle or you can opt for the upgrade to get a little closer for 55 dollars.
After parking we scanned our passes, entered through metal detectors and began our day at the park.
We found lockers available for rent of the three tiers available. 20 dollars for small. 30 for medium and 40 for large.
For reference, small locker was sufficient for my cell phone, keys, three large bath towels and street clothes for us.
After securing our belongings we went on just about every ride from the lazy river and wave pool to Colossal Curl. Life vests are available free of charge and are encouraged for children under 48 inches and those that are not strong swimmers.
We purchased the dining package which allows for an entree, side item, or dessert along with a beverage every 90 minutes. Caveat, bottled water, beer, bottles of soda are excluded along with certain ice cream stands and funnel cake are not included in the dining pass.
Fast passes are available for an additional fee to avoid lines if you so choose.
If you are looking for a fun place to take the family and spend some time outdoors, head over to Water Country USA for some sun and fun; you will be glad you did.
*something also to note is Water Country USA is completely cashless. They accept credit cards, Apple Pay and you can also load money onto a prepaid card for use within the park.

Great experience. Lots of fun and exciting rides for all ages. Lots of places to eat. They had a deal for food every 90 minutes. I did not go for that but that seemed like a brilliant idea for large families or groups. I look forward to going again

A Tuesday visit :
Lines were so long we couldn’t ride anything it took hours for three mediocre rides. For the cost there wasn’t much to do. The lazy lagoon was our favorite. We didn’t get to ride the big ride they have there because the line was 2 hour wait. The food with the dining plan was GOOD. Probably won’t return.

I was pleasantly surprised with this water park. We had a party of six: 3 adults, 1 teen, 1 big kid, 1 toddler. It drizzled for the better part of the day. We opted to get a cabana for $220. Worth the expense to get a break from the drizzle. We received a free meal (X6) with the rental.
Come prepared to walk! Water shoes are a must, sandals barely worked out for me. The food was good for a theme park and prices. I saw people headed to their car for their food too. It's close enough to pull off.
The park closed 3hrs early because of inclement weather. We asked to receive passes to come back and we got all 6 passes back, expire within a year.
Great water slides/activities for toddlers, teens, and adults. No lines to get on rides. Highly recommend a visit.
Juan Villamar — Google review
The water slides were the best part. The wave pool and lazy river had so much leaves and debris it was not as relaxing as it should be. My biggest issue is that you can't get to the rides without walking over the hot sidewalk. Even if you wear your slides to the ride entrance the sidewalk in line should be misted or treaded. Somehow the other water park have this figured out.
Travis Maugle — Google review
Unfortunately, We purchased VIP parking online and got to the park and had to be refunded due to lack of spaces made accessible. We also purchases a Cabana because we had all ages and wanted to make certain everyone would be comfortable. ONLY to be there was no service for food, no ice for water service, not enough employees for food service. This was very disappointing.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a nature-themed amusement park based in Europe. It offers an array of entertainment options ranging from rides, coasters, and shows to dining, river and rail attractions. In addition to the theme park, there are other exciting activities like zip lining, kayaking and water parks nearby. To save money on tickets, it's recommended to purchase them at least one day prior to visiting as prices increase for same-day purchases.
The rides and animals made for a amazing day… buy tickets in advance they have dynamic pricing and raise the price from 69 to 89 dollars for a same day purchase. You will save at least 20 dollars per ticket by purchasing the day prior to coming to park. It was a absolutely a blast I would recommend it definitely and bring plenty of water… hours of walking… go for it you will not regret…

I'm not a big fan of roller coasters, though I did ride a couple. Even without riding many rides this is a beautiful place and a great way to spend your day. Definitely an experience! Plenty of good food as well.

Great time to visit. No waiting in long lines to ride. Only downfall, it was too hot. Having water cups available was great! Had a medical situation. The Busch Gardens employees at The Magic Shop went above and beyond with the attention and concern that was shown. EMT Alex was very attentive and thorough. Transportation to parking was provided by EMT Supervisor Ralph. Every courtesy that was extended was greatly appreciated.

We had a great time! It was very busy, however that was because of high schools bands having a competition. It was nice to see kids running around having a great time. I grew up going to Busch gardens in Florida, and this was my first visit to Williamsburg. We will definitely go again on our next visit.

They were having there St. Patrick Day celebration and all the rides were not opened, but had fun, if going all day during the summer to ride all the rides opening till closing would recommend to get the food pass for $30 more but you get a full meal every 90 minutes. Enjoyed everything even the dinner theater show while eating. Hope to come back soon!!

This park was beautiful!! The rides have a nice array of thrill to chill that I love the variety. The food here was amazing! I recommend you get the all day meal plan , it is so worth the money! The shows we saw were top notch! The themes for the countries seemed very authentic and custom to the region you were in. If you are going to watch the fireworks we recommend using the bridge for the best view. But while everyone is watching those the ride lines open up a bit. The only issue we incurred while there was that they didn't have many shirts in large size, because they had sold out. I would definitely come back and bring my family!!

My family and I went yesterday 7/4/23, our tickets were discounted for military appreciation and we got 10% off for purchases made in the park. My family had a ball. There was plenty to do for all ages of my family. My husband and I have a 3,8,and 9 year old my mother also attended with us.The food was great. We can’t wait to go back

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is my favorite theme park. Emphasis on theme because this park nails the theme in each of the areas. Every area focuses on a specific area of Europe. The rides are a lot of fun, many of them are kid friendly. The thrill rides are also great, providing different levels of excitement for everyone. Employees are friendly and helpful, making sure the experience is special for every guest.
We also participated in the steam engine train tour. This was really special. Recommend for any train enthusiast. They take you into the train depot and show you the engine and teach you about how it works. The tour guide who led us on the tour was very friendly and even gave us a quick queue on a ride while waiting for the train.

Absolutely one of the most beautiful amusement parks. Lots of trees and lots of shade to avoid the heat if needed. Lots and very fun roller coasters to enjoy. Has a lot of children rides to offer as well. Great entertainment and fantastic seasonal activities all year long. Highly recommend!

It was the last weekend of Howl-o-scream so it was busy for sure. We got there around 11 with a plan to stay through the 6pm change over from the amusement park to scream fest. It was the best choice. This allowed us to get on a lot of rides with little to no wait. As the day progressed the lines got longer and longer but we didn't care as we had already done the rides. We were off to enjoy food and shows. Speaking of shows, don't miss the Skeletones....they were great! By the time we had eaten, played games, and caught a few shows; it was 15 minutes before the spooky started so we headed right for the witch in the woods and Nevermore. We were able to do both with no wait but by the time we came out of the second one, the lines were huge. The park continued to fill up even as we left at 9 and there were cars lined up as far as the highway trying to get in at 9pm! Overall, it was a fantastic day, great food, great shows, and great actors for the Howl-O-Scream. We will be making this an annual trip for this event!

We love BG! We live locally so we visit often. The most recent visit was with a 5yo and 3yo. Plenty of rides and activities for each of their ages. It's quite a bit of hilly walking so definitely bring a wagon/stroller for little ones. Bring your own water bottle(s) and pack snacks if you don't want to spend your life savings on food.

Always a great place to take the whole family to. They have many ways to get around the park to include a train. They also shuttle to and from the Germany, Italy, and Ireland parking lots
If you’re a single rider like my self the have a lane for that for most of the roller coasters.
Food and drinks are also affordable, but I’d recommend buying a food pass.
Keith Kuyper — Google review
I used to work in Busch Gardens Williamsburg for 5 months, and I had a chance to ride every single roller coaster again and again :)
Best time is to come at opening and you start with every country to explore the entire park. Spend the entire day if you want to have the most fun and experience the park. Buy yourself the express pass, because the lines are long long long. Save money on food or gifts if you, need to... but buy the pass.
I have been here few to visit the park after, because it is definitely the best amusement park in the US. I also visited the Busch Gardens Tampa Bay which very fun, but this park is better.

One of my all time favorite parks! There's a reason it's been rated the WORLD'S most beautiful theme park for 33 YEARS straight! Great rides, great food and atmosphere. I could live in the park if they'd let me!

Busch Gardens is one of the most beautiful amusement parks I have been to. You can go on roller coasters and rides; some of my favorites are Finnegan’s Flyer & Invader. You can enjoy shows with spectacular actors and singers. And they have food corresponding to the different European countries the areas the park is based off of. I recommend purchasing the all day dining pass so that you can have the option to eat every 90 minutes. You must go here if you are visiting or local!

Lovely park. Nowhere near the world's most attractive, despite the awards, but it's in the top of 20. Despite the blistering heat, the staff were mostly happy to help and the restrooms very clean and fresh. There's free water at every soda fountain location and snacks, etc. The ride queues are woefully inaccurate (both ways) and the fast track very expensive. It's possibly my favourite Busch park.

Lots of fun. The coasters are all amazing. Went for Halloween on a Thursday and there were only a couple of rides with long(ish) wait times. It is hard to navigate at night with all the lights off. We kept going in circles and probably missed half the park

The Christmas town was great. The concept of different countries was exciting. The rides were amazing. It's a good place to have fun during the holidays with kids especially. They will enjoy it thoroughly.

I have always loved this theme park. I took my 4 kids (12, 9, 7 and 5) for Christmas town and it was a blast with huge variety of entertainment and rides open. They constantly update rides and have managed the lines really well. The only reason why I left it at 4 stars is because the bathrooms need more attention for cleanliness, the little kids rides need more people to help put them on and take them off (the wait time to get them in and out was far longer than the rode itself). Again it was still a great time and I highly recommend visiting!

Returning to Busch Gardens Williamsburg for the Christmas season was a revelation. Having visited in the past, I thought I knew what to expect, but the park's transformation for the holidays was nothing short of magical. The moment I stepped through the gates, I was greeted by a dazzling display of Christmas lights, stretching as far as the eye could see. It was like walking into a winter wonderland, with every tree, building, and pathway adorned with twinkling lights that brought the festive spirit to life.
The atmosphere was perfect for a family night out. The air was filled with the sounds of laughter and Christmas carols, and the scent of seasonal treats wafted through the air, creating a sense of warmth and joy. Despite the park being quite busy, the crowd did not detract from the experience. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits, and the staff did an excellent job of managing the flow of visitors, ensuring that the magic of the season was not lost in the hustle and bustle.
Christmas Town, the park's seasonal event, was the highlight of the visit. Each section of the park was themed to different Christmas traditions from around the world, offering a unique and educational experience. The shows were heartwarming and entertaining, with talented performers bringing holiday stories to life. The rides, too, had a special touch, with festive music and decorations making even familiar thrills feel new again.
In conclusion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg during Christmas is an experience I would highly recommend. It's a place where the joy of the season is palpable, and the memories made are sure to be cherished. Whether you're revisiting or experiencing it for the first time, the park's festive transformation is guaranteed to fill you with holiday cheer.

A really beautiful park!! We really enjoyed walking through the different countries as they are well decorated. We also were pleasantly surprised that we had no wait times on any of the rides. The service was really hit or miss… several people were super kind and nice and others were clearly not thrilled to be there. But overall, a very positive experience!! Looking forward to coming back

We bought the combined Williamsburg Busch Garden pass. When driving in stay all the way to the LEFT when crowded because 4 extra lanes open up. Excellent park to please everyone. Lots of wild roller coasters and plenty of other exhibits to see like the wolves, owls, Clydesdales, Border collies, horned sheep. Plus several shows to see. Loved the Celtic dancing. Great restaurants and large quantities at reasonable prices. If you are there for the whole day I recommend the $50 all you can eat. 90 minute wait after ordering. Get entry, side or dessert and drink each time. If you just eat twice you more than cover the cost and quantities are enough to share especially if you are eating every 90 minutes. The Smoke House sampler plate was the best. And the cake in the German Fest hall was huge. We really enjoyed the Clyde’s and collies tour that was extra but kids really enjoyed petting the horses and feeding the sheep. Linh was a very knowledgeable tour guide. Best time to visit is when it rains in the morning. Our second day there were no cars in line and they sent us to preferred parking because they didn’t want to run the tram with no customers. No wait to get in the park. It was empty so the best time to ride when the rain stopped.

They have become cashless since the last time I went about 10 years ago. Some waits are longer than others. I felt safe on the roller-coasters. They make sure everyone is the correct size and that everything latches. I have only 2 real complaints: the lines should be supervised because there are multiple rides where teens were skipping in line. Seriously skipping the line, like 20-50 people at a time when the lines curved back into themselves, and no one stopped them. The bathrooms could be cleaner.

Me and my family do trips here at least three times a year and we do our boys trip here for two days out of the year! We have been here for howl scream and all and have to say this is one of the best parks to come too and cleanest. I rather come to this park than any other parks around! Everyone here that works here always has a smile on there faces and will always give great advice and directions if you get lost. And definitely the best ride to ride first. Best part to bring your family, friends, spouse kids.

As awesome as it was since the first time I went there 35 years ago. It’s gotten consistently better as the years have gone on. The countries as well as the roller coasters have been added to over the years. The food offerings continue to be updated. I always enjoy my visits

I hate to say it, but Christmas Town just isn't as nice as it used to be. I'm glad we got tickets on sale and not at full price. Parking is $30 just for the general lot. In fairness, if you have the full season pass, your general parking costs are included & there is no additional charge for Christmas Town visits.
Having been to Christmas Town before, I was expecting so much more than what was presented. There weren't as many displays as previous times and many lights were either broken or simply not turned on. The shops also didn't have much Christmas merchandise with the exception of one store in Germany. It just seemed very lackluster overall. Also, my husband and another gentleman behind him both almost fell in the bathroom due to wet toilet paper being all over the floor. The women's restroom was quite clean. The hot chocolate was pretty good, I did buy a cute Christmas decor item and the light show on Escape from Pompeii was awesome!
Honestly, I just don't think it was worth the cost this year.

My family visited on December 30, 2023 to experience Christmas Town 🎄 ✨️ ❤️. Busch Gardens has always been a family favorite since I was a small child and continues to be as I am now a mother of teen children.
The only reason for 4/5 stars is the expense. Like all theme parks, prices are much higher for food, tickets, and shops. Other than that, this park is well maintained and gorgeous anytime of the year. Several coasters are available for thrill seekers as well as mellow rides for those who just want to sit back. The park offers several options for small children. Throughout the park, there are places for resting and areas for shopping. Take 👟 good walking shoes as the park is NOT flat. Hills are throughout the park. If visiting during the summer, you'll also want to bring water friendly shoes too such as flip flops. Lockers are available to store items if you don't want them to get wet or to carry them around the park.
Strollers are available to rent for the day.
Bags 🎒 are permitted, but are subject to a search upon entry.

Enjoyed going to Christmas Town. The last time I went was 2009! Didn’t have to wait very long for rides. Saw some of the animals. Family members enjoyed shopping in the boutiques. Some fun shows around the park. We did the Santa experience and the fireside feast. The Santa experience was short and not a lot of value for the price. The fireside feast was a bit better though manage your expectations on the food. Thought it was a bit rude how people left right after eating and didn’t even wait for Santa to say goodbye. We loved the way Santa read the Christmas story.
The Virginia Air and Space Center is a museum dedicated to showcasing the history of flight and space exploration. It features interactive computers and screens that provide an enjoyable learning experience for visitors, particularly children. The center has a futuristic design and cost roughly $30 million to build. Visitors can watch 3D films on a giant screen, including blockbusters. On occasion, some areas may be closed for upgrades or maintenance; however, overall it's an interesting and fun place to visit that comes highly recommended.
Love that this phenomenal museum is right here practically in our backyard! Great exhibits, particularly the aircraft and Apollo 12 capsule. IMAX theater is clean and comfortable. Cafe prices are not too unreasonable. If you live in the area, consider purchasing a membership…well worth it!

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't super crowded and we spent about 2 hours here and were able to see everything that was open. That's the down side though, not everything was open. The interactive computers and screens were really cool and it was a very fun learning experience for my son.

The inflatable moon base and the simulation attraction was closed so that was a disappointment but overall the museum was a great trip!

This was a wonderful way to spend my birthday. I will definitely be back and tell others to visit.

A slow start getting admittance, the process took a while with several families ahead of us and only one employee.
The exhibits are nice and include several interactive areas. The robot lab had one employee trying to link computer pads to the rolling balls which was a little slow.
We opted to eat at the cafe before the IMAX movie. This too was extremely slow. We were told the 2 salads and flat bread pizza are made fresh and would take a few minutes. 25 minutes later we got our food. We were the only people eating. If they had a crowd ordering it would have been horrible.
The movie was good with only 20 people or so attending. There is plenty to see but be aware there could be some delays.
There is a free 2 hour parking lot across the street.

Very beautiful place. My son attended space camp for a week. Then we went to tour the building. Lots of spots for photo opportunities even on the top deck of the roof using binoculars just take some quarters. They have so many exhibits including space that let you see your weight on other planets. Play rover and space games and a flying simulator. There is even a little small kids section for play. There is also an imax theater and Cafe. There are a lot of planes, rockets, ships and touchable items here. If you have some free time you should check it out.

Expected more from such big names. It was clean and visually pleasant but seemed lacking. Many exhibits were closed or missing pieces (airplanes in kids section, etc, pop-up astronaut pods, robotics section and more)). The kids section looks nice but had relatively little to do. There was no staff around on a Saturday to talk, teach, or answer questions. The displays were impressive but most of the big planes, etc. lack explanations. Seems more like an event space you can walk through that had a “hidden figures” makeover than a planned out museum. Electronic interactive displays worked but were limited in explanation and seemed geared toward older kids.

We went on purple flag day( jellyfish alert). The lifeguard was very nice to explain this to my son. We still ventured ahead and had a great time. He was able to meet a friendly kid an they had a blast together. The beach could use a little sprucing up but otherwise nice. There is also a playground on site but we did not get a chance to use it. There was a cop at the end of the night making the announcement that the beach was closing. However you can't really hear it. We only understood because we were leaving and walking in that direction. So if you see the cop at the end of the night it's time to get ready to leave. Have a great time.

Buckroe Beach and Park is located in Hampton, VA. Buckroe Beach and Park is north of Fort Monroe. I have not visited Buckroe Beach since 1978. Buckroe Beach had an amusement park 🎡🎢🎠many years ago. The amusement park closed in 1985 and was torn down in 1991. Buckroe Beach original fishing pier was destroyed in 2003 by Hurricane 🌀 Isabel. The fishing pier was rebuilt by the city of Hampton in 2009. Buckroe Beach has done an amazing job on the improvements. If you have not visited Buckroe Beach for many years, come back and check it out.🏖️

Love Buckroe beach❤️ and has a fantastic park for kids.... Has come up a while lot and be holding up well from what it was in the 80's and 90's. Board walks are open and functioning.... And not a long haul from your vehicle to the water, unlike a lot of other surrounding beaches.

I can not get enough of this beach!!! It is beautiful! The park is very nice. There is a small stage for outdoor concerts. I love the swings & benches along the boardwalk. Nice picnic areas. Clean bathrooms & wash up stations. The port-a-pottys could use a regular cleaning, but its a port a potty so keep your expectations low. My only issue: not open late enough.
If I may offer a recommendation or consideration to the people in charge... My husband & I are into star gazing & late night strolls along the beach. Maybe have an evening or 2 on a weekend (or maybe every other weekend) to allow limited access until 12:00 midnight? No children under 18 unless accompanied by an adult. No swimming after sundown on said evenings. Just an opportunity to sit & enjoy this beautiful beach at night!!

We love Buckroe Beach! Our first trip here was last year and only a day trip but we loved it so much that we spent 3 days on the beach this year and plan to come back year after year! The beach is beautiful and not so crowded that you don't have your own space. My kids enjoyed both playing in the sand and the water.

Beautiful, peaceful, and clean beach! This is one of the cleanest beaches I've been to. The people are all very friendly also.

Of course it was freezing outside on a Saturday evening right before the sunset so the beach was fairly empty. The beach itself looks clean and beautiful and is a lot easier to get to then any of the ones we’ve attempted so far. There is minimal-moderate parking so I’m sure on a warm spring or hot sunny day it will most likely fill up fairly quickly. We will definitely be back in the summer to check it out!

Plenty of parking. Good restrooms that are accessible as well as family style single room bathrooms beach side. Large fenced playground. Lots of room to spread out on the beach. Ice cream truck rolls by periodically. Boardwalk is long and very wide. Great for strolling.

Very clean, beautiful park with friendly people! Highly recommend. A little sad that it's only dog friendly September 15-May 15th as my puppy loves beach walking with me and watching the ocean and people.

Great beach, clean, large, water great. You can walk pretty far along the beach. The signs say no dogs on beach until after September 15th. However, we saw quite a few little ones with their owners. There are lifeguards most of the time.

Nice beach, many life guards with a police presence. Clean, well lite area. Only issue was parking. If you are looking for a good, safe, clean beach for you and your kids in which you don’t have to worry about strong rip currents this is your beach. Even had local food trucks driving past. If you are into fishing many places to fish. I plan on returning to walk beach really soon.

Clean sand, great park & playground for the kiddos. Would love to try fishing off the pier.
The Casemate Museum of Fort Monroe showcases the colonial roots and military significance of the fort from the 19th century onwards. Although closed during one visit, there were numerous informative signs outside detailing historical events such as Jefferson Davis' imprisonment in this building and an Army doctor's medical care for him. Across the street is Lee's Headquarters, which had a sign removed due to political pressure. Visitors should take note of its historical importance during their walking tour.
Such fascinating history! And it was free to enter. The exhibits and signs are fantastic.
Vance Boyer — Google review
It was not open when I visited, but the outside had several historical interpretive signs which told a little bit about what went on here. The main two were about Jefferson Davis, since this is the building where he was imprisoned. One of them is in gratitude of the US Army doctor who attended to him while here. Across the street is Lee’s Headquarters, and since the current Virginia administration loves erasing and contorting history, they had the sign removed that told about it. The walking tour should still mention it, but who knows how long it’ll last. Very cool cannon on the side, be sure to visit while at Ft. Monroe. Cheers.

If you’re a history buff this is a must see if your in the area visiting or if you live in the area and have never been. It’s an old military base with a museum and lots of history. Beautiful old houses and church. The museum has lots to offer and you can walk the grounds of the base freely. I will say that they do have some civilians occupying some of the dwellings so please just be mindful. We wouldn’t want to trespass in others property. Fort Monroe is very educational. It is surrounded by a moat and you can walk up the steps outside the museum and visit an actual pet cemetery as you walk on top of the museum and take in spectacular views as the museum itself is actually built into the ground. It doesn’t cost anything but you will have to obtain tickets that you can get at the information center located just steps away from the museum itself.

Enjoyed time with the family here. We enjoy learning about history. The museum is the centerpiece of the park! Note: you have to get your ticket (free) from the visitor center first! We made that mistake and had to back track. We didn’t realize! Overall, still found it interesting!

Great museum. Great history and architecture. Could have stayed here all day.
J Scott Woods — Google review
The museum is full of artifacts and narrative displays from its storied past. It is much larger than I expected as it wends its way through the walls of the fort. It is climate controlled so it can be a good refuge if the weather turns nasty. The number of people permitted to enter at one time is restricted, so stop in at the visitors center first. There is a gift shop within the museum, but be aware that it is closed during the off season.

Great museum of American history. This is a free museum. There are a couple of buildings that you can go into. You can also walk the base on a self guided tours. There are maps available.
All of the staff we encountered were friendly and knowledgable and answered any questions that we had. There is also a scavenger hunt that children can do.

Its a nice and interesting museum that you can walk through and have seen everything in probably about 40 minutes. They used to have more exhibits I believe before Covid but I was told due to flood damage in 2020 some things have changed. It has some neat information and displays about the history of the Fort and its role during the Civil War. This is also where Confederate President Jefferson Davis was held captive for 2 years which the museum also has information about. Entrance is free but you must go to the Visitors Center which is less than a 3 minute walk and reserve/pick up tickets. They let people in the museum every 15 minutes and tickets are very easy to get. The visitor center on its own also houses a few exhibits which are quite interesting. If visiting the Casemate Museum I highly recommend combining it with a walk of the area. It is quite accessible and there are countless of nice views and walks around this area, within and outside of the fortress.
Sander Kaalverink — Google review
The visitor center has a small museum in it. The Casemate itself is pretty cool. Tiny gate to drive through that will have you worried you will get stuck (you probably won't). Great views from the ramparts. Inside is really interesting. Best part is the cell Jefferson Davis stayed in. A few things from the war of 1812. Would have liked to see more on Edgar Allen Poe though.

Fantastic staff, clean, well curated . So much history to absorb and appreciate. I would suggest if you have a timeframe you know you’re wanting to come booking the time on eventbrite it made everything really easy and I knew I had a guaranteed time slot to plan around. I am from Florida and in school this wasn’t a place my teachers focused a history lesson on but really should have . It’s really history is so immense to the founding of our country and really reminds you of how much effort people in the United States history made to protect it.

Best thing about this place: it’s FREE! Staff are super nice and informative. We went to the museum, but we had to go to the visitor center to get the free tickets. We ended up staying at the visitor center for 30 minutes and then heading back over. Kathy was a volunteer there and was super knowledgeable. We got to see Jeff Davis’ prison cell. Afterward, we walked around the fort on the self guided tour. Highly recommend, especially for the price, ha!

Located within the Fort Story military base, the original Cape Henry Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse featuring an impressive tower climbs with ocean vistas. Also available for visitors to see is the newer black and white striped lighthouse nearby.
Located on a military base - Fort Story
Must show ID at the gate to enter the base and yield ID - and pass security screening - at parking station to take the free shuttle to the Cape Henry Lighthouse area.
Visitors are given a map of the area with marked blue boundary in which civilians must remain.
Steep steps lead up to the lighthouse from the admissions office.
191 stairs in the lighthouse with short ladder to climb into the old lantern room.
Beautiful views!

Cool historic lighthouse with a great view of the ocean and the, much newer lighthouse (black and white) adjacent to it. You'll pay about $10 for access to the lighthouse from what appears to be a small gift-shop/historic center. Once you make it past the cash register you'll climb a short set of stairs up the base of the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is a really easy climb which goes quickly unless you get stuck in a queue. I went on a cold windy day and was the only person inside the building. It's neat to stand at the top and feel the winds buffeting around the structure.
There's a small ladder you have to climb for the last 6 feet or so before you ascend into the glass area. It's not hard, but watch your head and suck in your gut if appropriate.
A cool place to visit but don't plan on spending more than 20 minutes at the location. Potentially not worth it if you don't have a military ID and are subjected to more rigorous security screening.

I was skeptical at first after reading all the reviews about the hassle/effort it takes to actually make it there…but glad I went…though there is some truth to those reviews.
They open at 10 sharp…so make sure you get to the gates at or after that. If you get there earlier…9:55..you will be kindly asked to return at 10. At this time masks are required for the bus ride, so they will confirm that you have one at the gate. Also, they will confirm you do not have any firearms in your vehicle. After a brief convo, you will be instructed to park in a designated area. You then go though a metal (wand) detector before submitting your ID (government issued) to them in exchange for a plastic coated numbered map. (You will need to return this after returning to this area before you leave in order to get your ID back) No backpacks, except baby bags are allowed. They had no issue with my professional-grade camera.
You then listen to a 5 minute briefing advising you to stay within the blue line outlined on the map. You then board the bus for a few minute ride to the lighthouse. There is the old lighthouse, which you can enter and climb. There is also a new lighthouse (black/white) which is still functional and you CANNOT enter that one. At the bottom of the old lighthouse, there is a port a potty. There is a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs and purchase your pass to go up to the top of the old lighthouse ($10). There is a straight set of outdoor stairs which takes you to the base of the lighthouse. From there, you can enter the lighthouse and proceed up the spiral stairs until you reach a small ladder (5-6 step) to go up into the very top of the lighthouse. If you’ve ever been to other lighthouses before…this is no different…it’s narrow and hot in there, so be mindful.
You can walk around the area a bit (as long as you stay within the blue line). There is a gas station there with a few snacks and drinks. After you are done exploring, you can catch the bus going back at the bottom of the old lighthouse, where you originally dropped off. They have two buses running on rotation I believe, so the wait isn’t long. Upon your return, you give them your numbered map in exchange for your ID.
I believe if you are military, you do not need to go through the screening process and can drive over directly to the lighthouse. Not 100% sure on this though.
Overall I had a good time there. I didn’t have an issue with the restrictions, but I can see how a family with a lot of children, or those with mobility issues would. The lighthouses and grounds are nice to see and take photos of…but there really isn’t much there, so some may lose interest pretty quickly.

Well we were dumb. Didn't read the reviews. Just saw we were going to a lighthouse. Quite shocking running into an armed guard on the way in. At that point there's really no turning back. Little freaky, but worth it. The guided tour was fun, it's pretty cheap. So amazing what a nice area it is but the military mows it all down to look like north Dakota. Couple historic houses on military property that they're going to tear down. ☹️.

This lighthouse is located in a military area. Be prepared for a security check of your car, provide identity documents (which will be kept safe until the end of your visit) and leave your car at the entrance and take a tourist bus provided to go to the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself had about 200 steps and was a great experience. By the way, you can only go up on the old lighthouse. The new lighthouse is still functional is out of bounds for visitors

A little adventure. Going onto a US military base to see a lighthouse. You’ll need your ID to get onto the base. Tell them you’re there to see the lighthouse. You then park off to the left, get wanded for security, and hop on a shuttle where they drive you to the old and “new” lighthouse. You only have to pay the fee if you want to go up into the lighthouse. You can still walk around without paying. You get a little map that shows where you’re allowed to go without getting arrested or fined for trespassing. A few well worn billboards and statues describe the history of the area.

Start out with, the lighthouse is on a military base. Not noticing the sign, but still stopping at the guard house, I had a young guy come out angrily and yelling. I can understand it if I did this on a daily basis, but this was the first time. Chill! Anyways, most the Navy folks were nice - some, not so friendly, but also not rude like the guy at the guard house. Be prepared to relinquish your ID while you visit. Civilian gal driving the shuttle was nice - not overly friendly. Shuttle does it's loop every 10 minutes. The souvenir shop is small. This is also where you pay to see the lighthouse. Got the AAA discount for $9. If the weather was nicer, then I would've checked out the gas station. Nice old lighthouse with great views.

Beautiful views. On Fort story military base so you have to surrender you id when you first get on base and you have to park and take a shuttle. You can tour the old lighthouse (brick one in photos) black and white is the new lighthouse and on the military base. You get a map outlined in blue and if you stay within the blue lines you won't have any trouble. You also get to walk up on a outlook and view the ocean. We even saw a submarine come up while we were on the outlook

A heavy military presence welcomes you to Fort Story, an active training base. The security check is worth it, as the historic beautiful lighthouse gifts you with awe-inspiring views (provided you navigate about 196 steps)! Be sure to take in the other historic features while you are on these hallowed grounds.

Great opportunity to see two lighthouses within walking distance of each other. One being old and decommissioned. The other is active and you cannot climb it. Beautiful view from the top of the old Cape Henry. The Cape Henry National Park Memorial is only a 5-minute walk from either lighthouse.

This was an ok adventure. Here are some key points to the visit;
1) once you arrive at the base gate they ask you some questions and take your ID. They keep it while you are on base.
2) you drive to a parking lot near by and get screened by a military personnel and given some laminated paper as your “ticket” you will have to return this in order to receive your ID afterwards.
3) you take a shuttle for a quick ride to the old light house.
4) you can not go to the new light house, just look at it
5) it is 10/person to climb the old light house.
6) there are a lot of stairs if you do this
7) inside the lighthouse at the top it is pretty hot up there if it’s warm outside.
8) the view is ok. You are pretty much looking at water one way and then the tops of building the other way.
9) you can walk to the gas station, the memorial, chapel and overlook. There are plenty of places off limits
10) the whole experience was cool and nice to pass the time but not sure I would personally want to come again. I liked supporting the military so we didn’t mind the fee to look at the lighthouse but if this was just some ordinary place and charged 10/per person I wouldn’t have done it. Seems more like a $5 charge would be better.

I have been visiting these two lighthouses since 1970. My family and I would spend a day here enjoying the lighthouses and beautiful beach. 🏖️This is great for family tours and meet ups. The staff is very friendly. Small gift shop now. They use to have a larger gift shop with amazing items. These lighthouses are incredible ❣️Located on Fort Story Base which requires all visitors 16 years and older to provide a valid ID. The driver of vehicle must show valid vehicle registration and proof of insurance. They now have a shuttle bus to escort guests. ADA service animal are only allowed. Ample parking available.

Neat lighthouse on a navy base. Requires an ID for entry. Can park on site but have to take the shuttle to the lighthouse since it's an active base. Navy personnel are friendly. Shuttle driver was nice and has good info. Was too hot to be able to go in the lighthouse so that was a little disappointing, but could go up the steps and look inside at the base of it. Admission was half price because of that also.

Very beautiful lighthouse. Had to pay to climb it but I didn’t pay so I watched from down below. Definitely worth seeing though and taking in the history of the area. Worth the visit just go up to the gate and explain you don’t have a military ID and I’m sure they’ll get you escorted or up to the lighthouse somehow. My bf is in the military so he has an ID that let’s him get into these places.

Beautiful place to visit when in Virginia Beach. It is required to carry your id card as this place is located in military area. Tickets are bought only if you are going up the light house. Else the visit to park and lighthouse area is free. It is strictly forbidden from stepping into some of the area there, stick to the boundary they suggest while entering this park.

The light house is located on Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. Visitors can go to the visitors' center and take a shuttle to the lighthouse. If you have a DoD ID, one can drive to the lighthouse. The orginial lighthouse is located adjacent to the new operational lighthouse. 79 steps to the base of the lighthouse and ~129 steps to the top of the tower. Great view of the coast and new lighthouse. Also, see the original 1607 landing of the Jamestown colonist a short walk from the lighthouse.

Very interesting site - one older lighthouse, which can be climbed via 194 steps (!), the other is not accessible.
Great views of the Atlantic Ocean and the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. You do pass through Ft Story military base and will have to give your valid ID.

Great first lighthouse to ever visit. Nice piece of history to experience. The staff is very nice and helpful. You pay for entry and get to climb to the top of the lighthouse. It might be strenuous for some, but it has a cool view at the top! *Age restrictions apply for the climb.
Also, be aware that it is an active Army Base and needs a proper government ID. They do have shuttles that take visitors to get screened. *16+ need a valid ID.

The staff working the front desk were extremely nice and were very knowledgeable on the history of the two lighthouses. Active duty members can climb to the top for free if in uniform. (Not sure if that is a requirement but that’s what I did) it’s not too long of a hike up and there is an 11 step ladder at the top. The views were super nice and I highly recommend if you’re in the area.

So many steps...so great though, to be able to kinda envision the lifestyle of a Keeper. And how FIT you may have had to be to climb the stairs and maneuver around

Great view from the top! Not a bad climb. But you MUST go through a security protocol as you are entering a DOD facility. You must park your car, go through security- think airport- and ride a shuttle. You cannot to the beach. There’s a long walk to a board walk to see the beach, but that’s it. Go for the lighthouse and go to First Landing state park for the beach.
First Landing State Park is a Virginia state park that is filled with miles of hiking trails and beautiful salt marsh scenery. It's one of the most popular state parks in the Commonwealth, and with good reason - it has everything you could possibly want in an outdoor adventure!
Nice park with a interesting landscape and beautiful trails along the water, through the forest and over swamps. It's perfect for jogging and biking!
The trails are easy to walk and they range from very less than a mile to more then 8 miles.
Also super quiet and calm and not crowded at all during winter. In winter it's basically free, in summer it costs a couple of dollars admission and parking.

Such a beautiful State Park. I was nervous with how popular it seems, how mellow everybody was. I came in off days, and didn't experience huge crowds. The beach was gorgeous, especially the morning I went extra early for sunrise! I stayed in a cabin.. they are kind of rustic but fully stocked kitchen and very clean cabin throughout. My kids and I loved our stay. 15 minutes from Virginia Beach but out in this cabin we felt tucked away. I will definitely book out here again!

Beautiful park with flat, easily walkable trails. A little confusing to get to. The Visitors Center has a very short boardwalk to the ocean, but is for campers mostly. Across the street is another entrance that leads to the Trail Center and the trails. We really enjoyed the cypress swamp - black water and all those knees poking up were a new look for us. Tons of dogs and few illegal bicyclist roaming around, so be ready to share the trails.

One of my favorite beaches/parks in the area. In the summer it's one of the only beaches in the area where we can bring our dog (who loves to swim!). The park has wonderful trails, and most of them are shaded. There are beaches on the Chesapeake Bay side and on the Broad Bay side, both are great. The campsites are spacious with lots of old oak trees all around. There are showers, bathrooms, a snack bar and gift shop. Be aware you do have to pay to park if you aren't planning on staying to camp. Great place to visit any time of the year.

Omg! This place is one of a kind and so beautiful! I cannot wait to do some additional exploring! There is so much to do. So much to explore. They have cabins, camping and yurts. You can buy firewood and ice at the information center. They have a store there as well as gift shop area. Sunglasses! Soda machines and a little restaurant. They have water fountains and one that looks like shower off type area to clean off sand. The beaches are just beautiful. No lifeguard on duty where I went so I don’t think they are there however the do have park police and rangers. My fiancé saved two children’s lives so please please please be very mindful of yourself and your children. When the tide comes in it can come in swiftly and catch you off guard and take you out. When the tide is out you can walk out pretty far before you even reach waist level. Make sure you know how to get out of a rip tide and under currants. They actual have information in the visitor center

Neat place! I was surprised to see Spanish moss in Virginia. The trails through maritime forest, swamps, and marshes are so unique and something that I associated with the deep south instead of Virginia. My favorite place at the beach and something that makes Virginia Beach truly unique among resort cities. I run or hike here almost every day of the year. On hot summer days, it’s always 3-7 degrees cooler on the trails. Miles upon miles of trails through beautiful forests and wetlands. Seeing the ecology and untouched natural beauty of the area is amazing…Thick groves of ferns amongst the cypress, hidden beaches along the trails, boardwalks across the wetlands… the trails are kept impeccably and there’s a great variety. Kayaks, SUP, and boat rentals along the “Narrows” section, at the 64th St entrance. Truly one of Virginia Beach’s biggest assets.

VBs favorite park! Lakeside views, track, mountain to fly your kits or have a picnic. It’s great for families, safe, clean and has plenty to do. Kids park, skate park are, riding bikes, and shelters if needed. I come here often and set up on a secluded side of the lake which offers beautiful views and a serene atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Everyone keeps to themselves and does their own thing ( mostly bike riding and working out) always a good idea for walls or picnics

Nice area to play and take a walk. Something for all ages to enjoy. I gave Mount Trashmore Park 4 stars because time will tell if this was a good idea.

Went there for the water lantern festival this year (2023). It had just recently rained the last couple of days and surprisingly the ground was not an entire swamp land. Not many places in Norfolk hold up after it rains. The venue is nice and spacious. The place is definitely kid and pet friendly. There is some handicap access for events but no ramps to reach the summit of the mount so be cautious with strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs. Public restrooms are nice and clean. For those looking to get a fun workout outside done there is tons to do from climbing the steps to running the lake side. Really nice place to relax at and chill for the day.

A small yet busy park in the Virginia Beach area. Very active with people walking, jogging, running, biking, fishing, and people just having their kids play on the playground. Great workout spot, you can run the hill or run laps. Different bathroom stations, clean, I went in the daytime felt safe. Nice views good fun time.

Visiting on a very windy day. Still a really nice hike, and I was surprised to find I didn't have any problems, making it all the way to the top. LOL I saw at least three playgrounds, and at least three sets of steps to get to the top. The boardwalk and picnic area with games along the lake. We're also new to me. I guess I haven't been here in a while. There's a lot of construction going on over around one side of it though. I saw three parking lots. The amount is not exactly accessible to all, as obviously there are only stairs to get up there. But there's a great trail all the way around it.

Definitely a great place to get some wiggles out on a trip. Kids didn’t want to leave. Walked to the top of the hill and they wanted to roll down but definitely too much goose poop to allow that ha. Have restrooms too.

This place a wonderful spot to spend time with your family. Whether u have kids or not there's something for everyone here. They have a huge kiddie park for the children to enjoy, there's also a skate park for the skater boys and a trail to walk the whole area. I also seen some people fishing hopefully they're throwing it back. There's also many picnic tables and seating to enjoy.

Attended an event there recently. Clean, open spaces. Plenty of room to walk & play(if you're bringing kids). We had a butterfly release at the end of the event. The views of the water & surrounding areas were great! Great place to get some fresh air & exercise

This park truly brings all Hampton Roads park lovers, young and old, romantics, nature lovers and health enthusiasts. With plenty of parking available, a playground, a beautiful lake with plenty of nearby benches to sit and enjoy the view, tables to spread out and enjoy outdoor meals, lots of exercise equipment built in, paths and walkways. It also has hilly terrain and steps, clean public restrooms and staff that are walking around ensuring the place is well kept. It even has a stage that has been the venue of plenty of events and festivals such as Ohanafest and Filipino festival and Water Lantern Festival.

Mount Trashmore Park certainly does not meet up to its name. It's a very beautiful park with excellent views. Not sure why it's called Trashmore?? I feel like it should be called Wondermore or something that lives up to its name. The park has excellent views from the bottom and all the way up to the top of the hill. It has plenty of parking space and plenty of restrooms. It opens at sunrise and closes at sunset. The park is also pet friendly, so bring your doggies for a walk. Not sure if they have a strict leash law, as I saw some dogs with and without them. You can also plan a party or get together but you must contact the city to reserve. There are plenty of "shelters" as the city of VB acknowledges them. Balloons and loud music are not allowed. Why? I'm sure they have their reasons. This park is a very popular park to go walk, run or just enjoy the views. Fishing is also allowed. There are plenty of kids playgrounds around the vicinity. The only negative for me was the duck droppings, way too many. The park also had benches dedicated to individuals who had passed away. I believe there was also an area with trees that commented military individuals. Not to sure but I thought it was a great section to the park. I highly recommend yall go check out Mount Trashmore, I had a positive experience. I will definitely be going back to get my 3 mile walk/runs. Other than that, don't forget to do your part. Clean up after yourself and leave it better than it was.

Had a wonderful experience. I loved seeing the community enjoying the greenspace that would’ve otherwise been wasted land! What a unique and creative use of the land. Beautiful park!!!

It was a good park. The biggest thing it is lacking is shade. On a hot summer day it is nice to have shady spots. Especially when you get a workout up a steep inclince.
It is a good place to go for a run. Or just a stroll. The kids could bike or skate around a bit.
I think the view with the lake. As far as hiking it is not great. But in this area there is little elevation change, so this is the best you can expect.
You could spend a few hours with the family here. Have a picnic. It is a nice getaway.
Overall a good park.

Great park in general, with wide walking/running paths, playgrounds and various amenities. I like going there for running because they have nice pathways, restrooms, water bottle filling stations, and lots to look at so the run doesn't get boring. Great place to go to fly a kite, let the kids play, have a picnic, exercise, fish, or go to a special event, etc.

I had not been to Mt. Trashmore in over 30 years, and I was so pleased to see how it has been maintained. Went on a truly stunning fall day, there were all kinds of folks, ru ni g, walking, bbq'ing, and just enjoying. It is a garbage-free zone, manicured, and quiet. The views (as I remembered from childhood) are excellent.
Good job VB parks and rec.

A converted abandoned landfill until a park. Very high usage from runners, walkers and some doing just the stairs.
60 feet high and 800 feet long a great free outdoor space for everyone to enjoy.
Has two man-made mountains, two lakes, two playgrounds, a skate park and paths all around. There are picnic areas, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, vending machines. Check it out
I had wanted to go for the lantern festival but missed it this year. I'll check it out next year

Ohh so awesome. Had a passion/psychic reading done today by Samantha Weaver. Was awesome. So spot on and revealing. Confirmed information from other sources and history. Great place , including the library

I love this place and we like to visit it once a year. They have cleared out a lot of books in the bookstore, which makes it look more open and spacious now. I did enjoy all the different types of books they used to sell, and I do miss that a little bit. They had so many of them to chose from. They still have nice things in there, and the sales lady was really sweet and helpful. Everyone was very nice.

Been going to the ARE for 50 years. Attended seminars, gotten massages and walked the labyrinth... once when raining. The energy is pure and healing. Will go whenever visiting Virginia Beach.

Just visiting VA Beach and seeing the sights! This is not to be missed! Very interesting place. Loved seeing the library of readings, gift shop, meditation garden, and labyrinth. What a treasured place! If you are into spiritualism, New Age, or even Christianity, you should check it out.

Warning, this place is huge into new age where they believe that they need to get rid of more than 90 percent of the population. Big into spirituality, more like the demonic spiritualism.

THE FOOD at their restaurant IS AMAZING AND HIGH VIBRATION !!! The staff are kind and loving. Eat there here whether or not you consider yourself “spiritual” / have interest in the Association for Research and Enlightenment of which the restaurant is a part. I got to have an amazing day enjoying the gift shop, library where I donated my book #Cosmic, rooftop meditation room and now I’m eating and writing! I’ll work off the food in their labyrinth and bamboo/ outdoor meditation garden. Come here for spiritual healing ☺️

Very interesting place to go. I’m not the type that would really put my interest into this type of stuff, but it was very interesting learning about Edgar Cayce’s life and his abilities to help people and tell them remedies of what they need and or tell others about loved ones. The library after the tour of the place was very insightful and cool to go through. I bought two photography books, since Edgar was into photography just like I am which is special to me. It was very interesting learning about Edgar’s life and his potential of his abilities.

We liked coming back to Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. this morning and visiting the bookstore there. Although the meditation room upstairs still was closed as of today, it was good to see others in the bookstore supporting the good work that Edgar Cayce helped to start many decades ago. There are several books that I liked, and one of them I bought with a discount because of my membership. It’s wonderful to support the good work that this organization does!

We visited the library on the second floor and saw the complete holdings of the Cayce works, as well as many rows of shelves with relevant subjects. I could have pitched a tent there and remained!! The gift store is on the first floor. Mediation room on third floor. Spa is in a nearby building. Ample parking. Easy access. Friendly helpful staff. I bought four books in the store.

The mind, body, and spirit holiday gift bazaar was informative with presentations about crystals and herbal tinctures. I also took time to meditate in the Labyrinth and garden with a fountain. This space is peaceful and spiritual.
