For years I go to this gentleman that fixes jewelry. He has a small shop in the malls hallway close to the entrance where the dance studio is at. Good prices. Fast service. Has fixed our watches, changes batteries, enlarges or reduces our ring sizes. Great service! Highly recommend.

This mall is big and it’s very nice 👍 they have a lot of stores and famous brands. I had lunch inside in the fast food place. You can find really good prices and stuffs here. I expended 3 hours going shopping. Parking is big you can find space.

My review is in regards to the Pure Spa Massage inside the mall. This space is located in the back portion, towards T-Mobile.
My experience with Grace was beyond amazing! 1 hour table massage.
Every muscle, knot, or sore aching part of my body was healed.
I can’t wait to buy my family gift cards for Christmas.
Do yourself a favor and go get a “GRACEFUL” MASSAGE!
Prices weren’t outrageous and the atmosphere was calm and clean.

This is a huge mall. I try to visit here Everytime I come up to the DC area. Fun to walk with the family and there’s a store for everyone, that’s for sure. My only complaint is the gross restrooms, but I know that’s just due to the high traffic of people that come & go through here. Place is awesome nonetheless and it’s always fun to get to come here. I’ll definitely be back.

Not sure what was going on, but it was very crowded.
Some stores with good discounts, some other had the regular price.
Good court not that great.

I love Potomac Mills! They always have a sale going on in numerous stores and they are conveniently located off interstate 95. I look forward to visiting again soon!

I recently visited Potomac Mills Mall, and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. I had a few items to return, and I was relieved to find that the mall wasn't as packed as it often is on weekends. This made the entire trip a breeze and a pleasant outing.
The noticeable lack of overcrowding made a significant difference. I could actually breathe and move around comfortably without feeling like I was navigating through a sea of people. It allowed me to enjoy my shopping experience without the usual stress associated with large malls during peak hours.
The stores I visited had friendly and helpful staff who made the return process smooth and efficient. There was no long wait, and I appreciated their professionalism.
Potomac Mills Mall has a fantastic selection of stores, which is one of the reasons I keep returning. This time, the visit was particularly enjoyable due to the manageable crowd. It felt like I had more time to explore and shop at my own pace.
In conclusion, my recent visit to Potomac Mills Mall was a delightful experience. The reduced crowds made the trip more relaxing and enjoyable, and I had a positive interaction with the store staff during my returns. If you're looking for a pleasant shopping environment, this mall is a great choice.

Love going to this mall has many stores that are actually worth going to. Food court is nice and open. Many ways to enter and leave the mall with plenty of parking. And it’s surrounded by many other stores and restaurants close by great place to spend your day.

This mall was breathtaking! Came down here from southern VA and knew it would be an amazing and gigantic mall. Mainly came down here to exchange some currency at the wonderful exchange booth and take a walk around. The mall really was gigantic and took me a whole 20 minutes to walk through just half of it! So many terrific stores and so many great attractions. Wish I could check out every single one but had no time lol. Definitely will be back when I pass by Northern Virginia!!

A big outlet mall with a Costco and a cheesecake factory nearby.

Always busy be prepared. They definitely have a great selection on shopping from low end to high middle end. Food court is good but could have better options. I love that they have a cotton candy machine! Haven't seen one since Florida. Overall great place to shop with large variety.

One of the biggest mall in East coast US. You name the brand and for sure it will be in this mall. Also they have Burlington, Costco inside the mall.
We tried basic spa inside, which is very good. It's just neck shoulder massage for 15mins, we gave 20$.
Food court is having poppeye, burger King, Indian thali, Japan and Asian cuisine. Few Mexican restaurants also. Star bucks at different places.

Need more store. No store stay longer here.. Some of the store i love here is gone. The food court seems dirty, bathroom here is clean and i love that tbey are open early as 7:30 for all the senior to walk inside since it is cold outside.

Not too crazy crowded. Lots of options for shopping and easy to walk around inside or drive around the outside. I liked that there are entrances to some stores from the mall or from their own parking lot.
Jessica Cummings — Google review
I love Potomac Mills so I am glad I don’t live too close. I have my favorite stores like Clark’s, Coach and Vera Bradley. It is always busy there so parking can be quite a walk.
Gail Daras — Google review
If you're looking for a place to waste you time and money, well then you found the right spot! With at least quarter of the stores being closed down or businesses being empty. The mall is suppose to be an outlet but only a handful of them are. While they may advertise sales like they are new
they are not. Its the same sale year round just with a fresh coat of paint to appeal to the season. Employees lazily meanderings about on their phones looking like zombies until a person enters and they're all over you like a lost puppy or lazily greet you as you enter then lurk away. You have a ton of mall kiosk stations libgering around with the same product every hall way as well. Beware the hair care/skin care people. The will harass you and your group to try their product that is overpriced. The mall security is a joke of its own. This place would be better secured if they had a troop of boy scouts patrolling this place. Whenever you need them take 20-30 only to have the issue be resolved when they arrived. Also their is mice crawling around the bathroom areas as well. All in all don't go to this mall unless you absolutely need to.
The National Museum of the Marine Corps is a modern facility located near Marine Corps Base Quantico, showcasing the rich history of the military branch. With an impressive glass atrium and over 118,000 square feet of space, visitors can explore exhibits that honor those who have served and sacrificed for their country. The museum also hosts retirement ceremonies for Marines who have dedicated over 24 years to their service.
I loved the life-size displays. They had a multitude of rooms displaying the history of the Marines from the revolutionary War to the present. A couple of theaters gave you a feel for the basic training experience. The water color art and s ulptures were awesome.
Kathleen Coleman — Google review
Beautiful facility all around. Depend on it taking you a couple of hours inside and probably nearly that long outside. The guides within the museum are very helpful and enthusiastic about their jobs. Take the walk and check out the outside monuments as well. You won’t be disappointed. And don’t miss Chesty!

Loved this museum! Didn't realize how big it was from the outside until I went in. Expect to spend several hours there. They have a restaurant and bar inside and a great walking trail outside. Will definitely be back!

One of the best museums I have visited so far, which was a pleasant surprise. The layout makes sense and will take you through the eras the Marine Corps has served our nation. Each exhibit is chock full of valuable information and amazing artifacts. Children will especially love the tanks, planes, helicopters, and other military vehicles they have on display here. There’s even two more sections that will be opening within the next year, so definitely stop by if you’re in the area or enjoy military memorabilia.
Justin Anderson — Google review
All staff made you feel welcome. It's always spotless throughout the building. Great variety of gifts in the shop. All the displays and exhibits are so amazing. They make you feel like you're there.
Wendy E — Google review
My son retired from the USMC after serving his country for more than 24 years. His retirement ceremony was held at the USMC museum. It was like being in the presence of greatness... looking around the museum and then the way the ceremony is carried out is simply fantastic. You can't help but think of all the men and women that have retired before and the ones to come later. That leads to thoughts of the ones that didn't make it home. There are so many that served but didn't make a career of it... but they are also very important.

An architecturally beautiful building filled with a high quality Museum dedicated to the United States Marine corps. The main lobby is filled with military equipment and realistic military displays. The museum exhibits line the outer rim of the lobby. Highly recommend starting at the beginning here sign and then working your way around the circle so that it flows in chronological order.
If you're interested in the military or have close family that have served in the Marine corps you could likely spend many hours in the museum. If you're just stopping by 1:00 to 3 hours or likely to be sufficient. Highly recommend at least walking through every single exhibit just to see the fantastic displays.
Unfortunately the war on terrorism and the modern day Marine corps exhibit was closed when we visited in November 2022

Amazing! I'm not a Marine, or even military for that matter, although I fully appreciate the sacrifices that have been made. But this museum is a must see for everyone. Extremely well done exhibits done in multiple different ways. Some very powerful with the voices of people who were in the battles. Walk into rooms with recreations of battle voices and sounds with explosions coming from every direction. You can walk through into an amphibious landing vehicle or a troop helicopter. And so much more. The place is huge and very modern. Take the kids, it's really not graphic or scary but drives the message home. And it's free. Don't miss this one!

Plan to spend the day! So much to see, read, and experience (inside and out), you'll probably still have to plan more visits to take it all in. There is the Tun Tavern and a place for burgers to keep you going! And a gift shop with all things Marine.
This museum is an amazing tribute honoring the United States Marine Corps. A must-see.
Kerry Ferguson — Google review
I go every year for the Marine Corps birthday on Nov. 10th with some of my brothers. It's definitely the best museum I've ever been to. There is plenty of history and things to read about. Tons of real artifacts, and they use real people to model their mannequins. I'm very proud of this museum. A must-see for everyone.
jasmine Torres — Google review
The exhibits were well done. You can tell the work that was put into it. I thought the combat environments were great especially for others to get a glimpse into the chaos of war. I was thinking that maybe there would be a warning on the glass, for those with PTSD or kids...but I think it's okay without the warning...I mean, this is what Marines do. I am a big fan of art and I wish there was a way that we could buy original works of the combat artists from the gallery. Please continue to have Marine Corps art displayed. I live it. My favorite thing in the entire museum was the sculpture of the Marine Rifleman with different Marine Corps things coming out of its body. Amazing museum. I intend to make a donation to the museum.
Dan B — Google review
Very informative museum with great exhibits. You could spend an hour there briefly understanding the history or you could spend many hours there reading and seeing everything. Some exhibits are more immersive with auditory and visual aids to help you understand the environment or the situation. Highly recommend.

Amazing museum with lots of exhibits on the history of the US Marines. There is a lot to check out. You can watch a movie about the Marines and how they serve us. There is also a lot of tanks and airplanes. I like how each exhibit is organized into sections about a certain war. It is very clean and the I especially like the architecture of the museum. It’s very nice how the admission is free and there is so much to see here. There is a new exhibit opening soon about the Iraq war and I will definitely come back and check it out once it’s open. In my opinion this museum is overlooked and you should definitely go check it out if you are in the DC area!

If you are in the area please visit this, you will not regret it.

Wonderful museum! My 5 yr old son absolutely loved it and me being a son of a Marine and a history buff I was very pleased with the displays, the layout of the museum and can’t wait for its completion. Plus the outdoor walking paths were peaceful and beautiful and I’m proud to say my father will have a brick honoring him alongside all the other heroes.
Robert Laing — Google review
Excellent museum, the guides were eager to share their knowledge with those in attendance but weren't pushy about it. The displays are layed out in a nice chronological order of the various time periods that have changed the Marines, however, each area is set off from a main corridor so you can go to a specific era if you want.
JD Zakerski — Google review
Purchased a brick for my Dad and presented the certificate to him several years ago. Dad passed in 2018, and this was the first time we had the opportunity to visit. The entire walk to locate his brick was humbling, like being at the National Cemetary in DC. Beautiful grounds and the museum requires more than one day to visit.

Such a cool place, we are navy but I think this place is amazing. They have so much information here and a gift shop that has tons of stuff to buy.
A restaurant that was pretty good we had fish and chips and a Greek salad. Everything was pretty good.
Tons of picture explains what stuff is
People there to help with questions it is a double floor establishment, but they have an elevator if you don’t want to climb the stairs or if you can climb the stairs. Love all the history here, we didn’t have time to walk the grounds but those looked amazing as well.
We will come back and walk the grounds on another day.
You must come check this place out and bring the kids.

Gem of a museum tucked away off 95. Not busy at all even on a Saturday but a fantastic collection of objects, great history. Well worth a trip.

The museum was a pleasant surprise. It is a lot bigger than it appears, and the exhibits are very informative. The gift shop has excellent choices of memorabilia to remember your visit. There's only one suggestion allow ample time to enjoy your experience.
H Taylor — Google review
Family time at the museum, age levels from 5 to 80, we all enjoyed the many exhibits and story lines, not only of the wars but the history of the armament, uniforms, vehicles, and other equipment used. We watched the film on the history of the Marines, very well done, and Gene Hackman as the narrator was spot on. I'd encourage all to take a couple of hours and visit and learn or relearn about a part of American history.

Beautiful. Bring your tissues. I love the layout of the museum. Very informative everyone there was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The We Are Marines movie was so incredibly well done. My kids especially liked the interactive part of the museum.

Our visit to The Mariners' Museum and Park in VA was fantastic! Plenty of parking, spotless restrooms, and captivating exhibits made for a memorable experience. The staff's friendliness and expertise enhanced our journey through maritime history. The park's picturesque surroundings provided a tranquil retreat. Notably, the entrance fee is unbelievably reasonable at just $1.00 – making it an absolute must-visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking an enjoyable day out. Ohh Yaa! The value for the experience is truly remarkable.

The museum is well structured. There's a theatre which displays a video of the Marine Corps history. Upon exiting, you begin the first exhibit. Each one takes you thru a specific time line of events that occurred during a war and conflict. The upper level has a display of artwork created by veterans. The outer grounds has multiple interpretive walking trails

Manassas Station has limited indoor space, requiring visitors to dress warmly on cold days. Boarding and disembarking from the train is convenient. Staff presence, however, seems lacking or minimal. The waiting room and restrooms are provided for passengers' use; although the former can be dirty at times and could benefit from maintenance. A digital display board keeps riders informed of train status updates.

Train station is basic but across the tracks is a coffee shop and some restaurants. Cute area. First time for me traveling by train and It's silly comfortable. Plenty of room. Could actually comfortably sleep. Can get up and walk up/down the train. Has a Dining car. Why do we not travel by train more often. This is great.

The indoor space is small. So if it’s a cold day make sure you have that extra layer. It’s easy to go to and get on/off the train.
I’ve been through that station a few times and don’t recall seeing any staff member. Bathrooms are ok but sometimes the waiting room is a little dirty and needs attention.

Hard to find even though it looks like a train station. 9431 West Street Address is not posted on West Street. No "Amtrak" signs??? Signs say Visitor Center. Platforms on both sides of the street so difficult to figure out where to go. Visitor Center is nice and rest room was clean.
Chatham Manor, a plantation built in 1771 on Stafford Heights, is a historic site that served as a Union Headquarters and Hospital during the Civil War. It was also the site of a slave rebellion. The house has hosted notable guests such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Walt Whitman and Clara Barton. Today it is part of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefield Memorial National Military Park where knowledgeable personnel are available to assist visitors.
Shared this adventure with my teenage daughter. It was amazing! The gardens were in bloom, and the view over Fredericksburg was spectacular!

I'm excited to come back in the spring when the gardens are in bloom.
What an exquisite view of Fredericksburg and so much history packed into this home.
Park ranger was very friendly and I wouldn't mind coming back just to spend time enjoying the view and gardens.

Free entry onto the grounds. The house was not open today despite the website saying it was. The gardens need a little tinder care in this Virginia heat. Still a peaceful place to sit, relax and enjoy the beauty. Would recommend early morning or late afternoon because of the heat. Restrooms were clean and accessible from the grounds. Wonderful historic site. Worth the stop.

Chatham Manor is one of the most beautiful scenic places in Fredericksburg. The house and grounds are lovely and well kept, and the view of the city is completely unmatched.
I first came here for a drawing class to walk the grounds and sketch different sculptures and scenes for Germanna many years ago. More recently, I brought my nieces and nephew here with cameras to capture the gorgeous Ginkgo tree in all it's bright yellow glory against the beautiful backdrop of the city of Fredericksburg.
Gorgeous place for a stroll in the woods, a visit to the gardens, or family photos under a beautiful historic tree.

Place is a very nice historical site with great gardens to walk through and see different sculptures. House has the bottom floor open for self guided tour of displays with information on the room and/or owners.
Go on a nice weather day so you can enjoy the gardens.

Free to visit and beautiful. The grounds are large with well kept gardens. The manor itself was beautiful and was a glimpse into the past. The historical placards were informative and it took us about 1-1.5 hours to see everything at a leisurely pace. The drive out is in need of repair due to washout, so drive carefully. If you have a large vehicle you should definitely take the alternate bus route out as the exit Is also very narrow. Definitely worth a visit!

This historic mansion has SO much history tied to it, it’s difficult to process it all mentally. The grounds are beautiful and the location serene. This is a great place to have a a picnic and reset our perspectives on what is difficult in life. The best part is it’s all free to visit as often as desired.
No matter the relationship, this is a good spot to make memories at.

I was driving down Sophia Street, when I spotted a historical marker, that led me to park and tour the area. I had found the oldest documented structure in Fredericksburg. The Thornton Tavern c.1746. It had gone through an extensive rehabilitation in 2013, per the historical record, resulting in the current look.

Everything about historic Fredericksburg is beautiful except one big ugly office building and a house ob the Rappanock River that looks like a post office and ruins the view.
Outdoor concert amphitheater (formerly Nissan Pavilion) seating 10,000 with 15,000 more on the lawn.
This is a great concert venue! I came here with my family. I surprised my boyfriend in the parking lot with tickets to Breaking Benjamin and Alice in Chains for his birthday. He thought we were just going to dinner and was very confused when we pulled in to Jiffy Lube Live. The venue is huge, and we were at the very top of the stands and still jad a great view. There are even more seats behind there on the lawn, and since it's all on a hill, there's nowhere that has a bad view. There are food and beverage vendors when you get through the gates. I got a yummy veggie burger and fries, and my boyfriend had several different beers that he liked. The prices for food and drinks are very steep, so be warned. Maybe eat before you come and just get drinks if anything. There was also tons of parking, and even with there being lots of people, it was quick and easy to get out after. The concert was fantastic and we had a blast!

Incredible concert!!!!
The sound was not great, it had a heavy echo and hard to understand when they tried to talk. Definitely needs to be adjusted.
Buy the premium parking, we were out of the lot after concert within 3 minutes. Buy the refill cup, its worth it.
Seats are tight!!!! Be prepared to have your neighbors sweaty thighs rubbing with yours. Its hot and the bathrooms are like a sauna.
Health concern, vomit on ground in several spots. Beware and they don't wash or clean it. So don't sit or touch grounds without looking first.

Watched Santana live yesterday, out here 😍
The show was just awesome and Santana knows how to get the crowd going! I couldn’t see an empty seat anywhere! About the venue itself, it is built for such massive scale shows and lights and acoustics were good. All the required facilities were available and accessible. The security was tight - as it should be. Traffic was a bit of a problem - so please leave early to the venue. Closer to the show - traffic is barely moving.
People were having fun all over the place and it was good to be here! Upcoming shows here are good - so get yourself going for it!

I went to see Volbeat back in 2019 and Ozzfest in 2000 here. Pretty nice place to see a concert. There was a walk from the parking lot to the event center, but not bad at all. The line to go in moved extremely fast and no wait. Beer is obviously gonna be overpriced but I still got a few. Overall great experience both times I’ve gone here. Will be seeing more shows in the future here. Sorry pictures were from my old horrible phone.

Just like airports and theme parks, they price gouge you for everything. But the bathrooms are clean. For an outdoor concert venue, it was very nice. I've never seen so many ads play on the big screens before, which was kind of annoying, I'm not sure if that was a venue choice or if the bands were sponsored by these ads, probably the venue...
Xenophod — Google review
It's a great venue to see a show! They get great performances in there and it's not too far from home. The venue is set up beautifully. The lawn seats are great and give off a really festive party atmosphere. Great access to food and drink. Bathrooms are always relatively clean.
My complaints are this. The prices for EVERYTHING are too high. $17 for a craft beer and $22 for a mixed cocktail is completely insane. They also do need to work on their parking situation because leaving the concert afterwards is like complete chaos.
Jennie Jen — Google review
One of my favorite music venues! So much better than Merriweather! Parking is easy. Tailgating is allowed and they provide bathrooms. Everything is easy to find. Beverage choices aren't great and very pricey, though. Never have long lines at the bathrooms.

Attending the Matchbox 20 concert at Jiffy Lube Live was akin to biting into a gourmet burger, only to realize the bun's a tad stale – fantastic but not without its flaws. Matchbox 20’s performance was every bit of amazing, reminding us of the band's timeless talent. The vocals, instrumental synchronization, and the overall ambiance was truly top-notch. The stage was ablaze with energy, and each song invoked a swirl of nostalgia that had the crowd singing at the top of their lungs.
However, the proverbial stale bun of the evening? The parking. Man, it was as if someone designed it as a test of patience for concertgoers. Jiffy Lube Live, your shows are outstanding, but navigating the parking labyrinth was a misadventure that tested the Zen of even the calmest souls. In short, if you're seeking an auditory treat with a side of parking chaos, this venue's got you covered. Rock on, Matchbox 20, but maybe next time, I'll catch you closer to home. 😉
Tony Ferrara — Google review
This is definitely a great venue! Over the years, it has grown, and the lawn is pretty big but also pretty far away. Parking is also a hike and takes a long time to get out after the show, depending on where you park. Other than that, I have to say the crew does an amazing job keeping things moving and making sure there is plenty to drink and eat. Place is clean, and sound is phenomenal no matter where you are sitting. The 3 large screens also allow people in the WAY back to see. They also have tickets available for people who want to arrive early and tailgate. Overall, great experience in a great location. Definitely recommend for a show.

Went to see Thomas Rhett and unfortunately I was in a boot and on crutches. I was walking to my seat and Donna asked me if I didn't have enough space they would move me to the handicapped section. I didn't have enough space and Donna was super helpful in getting me accommodated in the handicap section. I was able to elevate my foot, remain sitting and still be able to see the concert. I'm so thankful she asked me, otherwise I don't know if I would have enjoyed the concert as much. Thank you, Donna for going above and beyond to make my experience enjoyable! ❤ 🙏🏼

This venue is always great. They keep all the areas clean, there are enough bathrooms for everyone, and they offer beverages and food. The also have carts to take you closer to the seating waiting at the gates in case you are injured or disabled. Make sure if you bring a bag in that it is clear or very small. They will make you leave backpacks in the car. I always have a great time when I come here. The bands are always on fire and the venue is great.
We saw Plush, Bush, Breaking Benjamin, and Alice in Chains last night. It was spectacular! All the bands were Amazing! Will definitely be coming back here to see more bands.

Parking was HORRIBLE to say the least. Entered the lot, attendant had me go straight toward the back/right because I have a handicap placard. When I get back there, next attendant says I can't park back there because I didn't have a white card stating it belonged to me. Advised me to go back up to the other side for handicap parking. I drive all the way around there for the next attendant to say go left and make a u turn(mind you it was cars coming in from that direction as well). When I make said u turn and sit in a traffic line for 10 minutes, another attend then comes and says the handicap lot is full🙄. I ask him where can I park and he says go left and all the way to the back. When I proceed to do just that, I see at least 40 spots....40. I ask another attend can I park over there...bless her heart, it was her first day so she really didn't know. Not gonna lie, she went to find someone over her and after waiting 5 minutes, I just found a spot and parked🤷🏾♀️. Lawn seats were great except for the excessive weed smoking🙄. Getting out of the lot took about 1 hour so there's that.
My suggestions would be to pay for upgraded parking and STILL get there early

Great venue if you’re looking for a mid-sized concert, which is about my speed these days. I highly recommend getting access to the VIP lounge area. They’ve got good food and table service for drinks before and during the concerts.

This place was amazing for the Odesza concert. The venue was packed and the seating was great! I read reviews prior to going and we had decided to purchase Early parking. There was hardly any traffic when we got there and when we left the traffic was not bad. We were back on the highway heading home within 15 minutes after the concert ended. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for parking if you can, it's absolutely worth it!

I saw Fall out boy here and it was my first time. There were screens for lawn attendees and there is plenty of parking. They need to do better on directing people into the venue for parking – traffic was at a standstill for a while. Getting out went more smoothly, though - it only took 10 minutes and everyone zipper merged flawlessly. I did leave early and walk as quickly as I could back to my car.

- nice venue, sound quality is great, seats, lawn, and pit area. Has food and drinks.
- tickets vary depending on what you're seeing and all.
- food and drinks prices are pretty high, like $5 for a liquid death and $30 for a mix drink.
- plenty of parking.
- staff are very friendly.
- good lighting and stage pyrotechnics when used.
- overall a good experience each time I see a show here. I'd recommend this location.

We came for a Nickleback/ Brantley Gilbert concert in the latter part of August 2023 on a Saturday afternoon/night.
Being there were apparently 20K people there, traffic was understandly backed up, and it took us an hour and a half to get to the venue, and that was driving the 6miles to get there.
They had ample parking for everyone-we were parked way out in F-lot. One thing that could be better is the event staff parking directions/having people out there when everyone leaves. People were frustrated and cutting one another off or being aggressive in trying to merge 3 and 4 times before we even got out of the parking lot. If someone was managing the merging, traffic would have moved more efficiently. It took us 1hour to get out of the parking lot.
The venue is cashless and lines to get through enter and security were quick. It took maybe a minute to get through both-this was at 630 (show start time).
Drinks are okay priced, and they only have cans. I was surprised at the ease of getting in and out of the ladies rest room as it was quite large with 2 entrances.
The seats are small for an average sized person and there's no cup holder so I saw a lot of spilled beverages, but there is room to get through the aisles.
During the show, the people next to us had a tiff with another person. Event staff were quick to respond and calm everyone down. The older gentleman who I think was a supervisor put up with a lot from some of the concertgoers and deserves a shout-out.

The positives: I was satisfied with my seats in the Orchestra section. Workers were helpful, kept the aisles clear and were on top of things. VIP parking was excellent. Bathrooms were also large and not too bad.
The negatives: The food worker spoke zero English. I felt bad for him and don't blame him, but it made it difficult for both me and him and I know the venue was probably paying him minimum wage while charging $9 for a water.
VIP parking was expensive but I knew that was the only way I'd get in and out without dealing with an absolute mess.

Great Jelly Roll Concert. Clean bathrooms with fast moving line. Great mixed drinks at bar, but $15 beer was my only gripe in an otherwise great time at a great venue. Also, traffic is the same as it has always been getting in and out for years, but that was to be expected with Jelly Roll Backwoods Baptism Tour 2023 selling almost 23K seats in a sellout. I have never seen the lawn packed with as many people as I did this show. Great local venue with a solid booking lineup for summer 2023.
Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park is a well-maintained historic site that offers visitors the opportunity to explore U.S Civil War battlefields, trails, and buildings. The park includes a cemetery and hosts living history events to educate visitors about significant locations of the battle. With informative signage around the facilities, navigating through this national park is made easy for visitors unfamiliar with Fredericksburg. Additionally, knowledgeable ranger staff are available to provide assistance and information to those who need it.
Excellent place to walk and get a little history education.

This is specifically for the visitor's center and Sunken Rd self guided tour at the Fredericksburg Battlefield.
The visitor's center is very nice. The exhibits have been kept up to date and are legible. There is a lot of great information, too.
The self guided trail is nice and easy going. We had a great time!

This place is a must see. You can stop by the gift shop and get the information on a guided tour via your phone. The house that is still standing on this battlefield still has bullet holes in it you can see on the outside and inside thru the windows. General Cobb was killed in this battle, the spot is marked with a stone.

Main center for most information on Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania battlefields. Visitors Center, located at site of Sunken Road/Stone Wall, has small museum with well-done short movie on Fredericksburg battle. National Cemetery sits atop adjacent Marye's Heights.

Visitor Center is always well stocked and have wonderful staff. No snack area but they sell bottled water. Restrooms are clean. The Innes house is interesting. It was not open today but I have been through it in the past. With the amount of damage from the battle is amazing it still stands and is in good shape.

Wonderful park full of history! My family and I enjoyed the walking trail throughout, although unfortunately were there when the Visitor Center was still under construction. Luckily, the table set up outside and the signs around the park were more than enough to make up for it. Great for a quick day trip!

Winery on a historic farm with a 1700s manor house, hosting craft fairs, outdoor movies & concerts.
Had a wonderful time at this Winery. Tasty wine, friendly staff.

It had all the characteristics of a Merlot and at the same time it was surprisingly SMOOTH. This made it a superb Merlot. The rest of the tasting experience is good.
The grounds are beautiful, perfect for a picnic. The cold cellar converted into a lounge area is cozy. The upstairs, a roomy more modern livingroom setting is very warm and inviting. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. A very nice place for enjoying a glass or a bottle of wine with friends or for renting out areas to host an event.

A nice winery set in a quiet location. The outdoor seating is very nice with a view of the wines and mountains. Indoor seating is limited and a little small from what I observed. Wines were good and food options are limited to bite size snacks. Some hot food options would have been great! It was a little cold when we arrived since the sun was down but we still enjoyed the experience.

One of the best wineries in Northern Virginia. You can do tasting, buy a glass of wine or a bottle and drink on the property. The building itself has cute intimate places to drink upstairs. And there are plenty of places outside where you can sit and enjoy. You can also bring your own food.

Very quaint winery with vineyard. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Plenty of seating with wide open rolling hills around the manor. Reasonable prices (typical for the area) for tastings, glasses and bottles. Some charcuterie options available for purchase or bring your own.

I don't usually review wineries but had such a great experience, I felt compelled to share. Everything was wonderful from stat to finish. We came to La Grange on a cold January day for a friend group outing. My husband and I along with another friend couple arrived ahead of our other friends. We decided on trying the buy 1 get one free wine tasting and went with the reds. I had mentioned to my husband walking in that I never remember wines when visiting wineries. We both agreed after this wine tasting, this would not be the case. All of the wines were amazing! And unique. It was hard to pick a favorite among them.
We had the pleasure of working with Chris, who seamlessly bounced between our friend group arriving at different times, seeking different wine style tastings. He was friendly, patient (our group may have broken a glass upon jubilant hellos), and knowledgeable. Being int he Bull Run area, it was fun to learn about the history of the building and wines Just be careful with Chris - he's a great salesman! He easily sold one of our friends on a membership - although the memberships do seem like a great value. I can't recall the exact specifics so don't want to speak on it, but if you are even slightly interested in a winery membership, I'd recommend asking about this one.
We spent most of our time in the basement which is a cozy space, decorated with lights and that could accommodate our group as well as others. It was also helpful that they allow outside food, since we could pair what we wanted with the bottles of wine being consumed.
Great time, great people, great experience. I'd love to come back in warmer weather to see the ground. Highly recommend!

We attended a graduation celebration for a nephew who graduated from high school. The place was packed a very hot day to be outdoors we stayed under the large trees in the shade. Pretty nice looking country property in secluded location near Haymarket. Kids had lots of fun, I did not try the wine but my son enjoyed it and had lots of good comments about it. I will return during a cooler afternoon and have a few glasses of their wine while enjoying the view.

We had a fantastic wine tasting experience. The staff is extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and just overall excellent. Not to mention the wine was great! Since it was Virginia wine month, their tasting menu was a good range of VA wines, which surprisingly we really enjoyed the reds (typically we avoid VA reds and stick to the whites but it was worth venturing out here!).
We look forward to our next visit (hopefully really soon) and will most likely be joining the their wine club seeing as how we left our first experience with several bottles of our favored from the tasting!

Visited on a Tuesday in late December after Christmas holiday around 3PM. The visitor center was pretty deserted. Every hour and half hour there is a 20 min video that plays in the auditorium. Highly recommend warching this first. It was created within the last decade and very informative. The ranger at the front desk was super friendly and knowledgeable.
The exhibits look very nice and updated. It was very long narrow hallways that wrapped around the auditorium. It would be a little clostrophobic except that there was only one other family visiting at the same time we were. There is more to look at than you would think and a couple are interactive with lots of items and not just text on walls.
The bathrooms were nice and clean and located on the right as you enter the vistor center.
The park store pretty small and nice and had what we wanted (pins/patches). Older lady working behind the counter was very helpful and friendly to talk to.
The national park stamps are to the left right as you wnter through the doors. There are no national park tokens here but at the Fredericksburg NPS store. There are specific pins and merchandise here that can't be purchased at the Fredericksburg store either and vice versa. So if you plan to visit both don't assume everything is avilable at both locations. The ranger also let us know they may be getting a actual junior ranger badge soon, maybe 2023, in addition to the patch and rockers.
Junior ranger program here is very cool. They don't have the badges but have a center patch with 4 rockers. One for each of the sites. Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness and Spotsylvania. Only Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville have vistor centers. The Fredericksburg location has the junior ranger book for spotsylvania as well. The Chancellorsville visitor center has books for the Wilderness. The are a couple short trails right outside the visitor center which is paved rubber trail. It took us about 1 hr to watch the video and walk through exhibits (without reading everything) and complete the junior ranger program. The ranger let us have the other rockers to conplete the other books later at home. We could've spent more time here but the vistor center closes at 5pm and we wanted to so at least a little bit of the driving tour. Definitly need to visit again and do the whole driving audio tour. Probably wouldn't visit again after the first time.

A perfect place to begin your visit to Chancellorsville, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania Courthouse. Lots of interactive exhibits including a short film. Gift shop has books, memorabilia, shirts, hats, toys, etc. Be sure to ask the Park Ranger about the Junior Ranger program for the kids. Plenty of parking and bathrooms are inside. The Visitor Center museum should take less than an hour.

A great little museum that shows the history of the battles fought in the area. Lots of books that cover the different battles are also available. The Flying Circus Airshow features a host of antique airplanes including Stearmans, WACOs, Fleets, Cubs, Champs and others. Performances include formation flying demonstrations, world class aerobatics, defying wing walkers, providing an afternoon of fun for the whole family. They’re open every Sunday from May through October. Gates open at 11:00 AM
Pre-Show starts at 2:00 PM.
Airshow starts promptly at 2:30 PM
Airshow ends at approximately 4:00 PM. Your entire family will love it!

Enjoyed the show and the ride we took in the Stearman biplane. Good group of people there who are mostly volunteers. Unfortunately we were not able to go up in the Piper cub that we bought tickets for. Apparently the pilot who was supposed to fly the cub left without telling anyone. Too bad as we and several others had bought tickets for that ride and were assured it would happen after the show. Also some young boy won a raffle for a ride and he was not able to go. The woman at the gift shop was nice and apologetic and was able to refund us. It was disappointing as we stayed longer than we would have after the show for the ride. I understand the pilots are volunteers and who knows he maybe had a good reason for leaving but he put the young staff in a rough spot having to answer for his actions. There were three young kids there that were very disappointed. I would just advise that before you buy that piper cub ticket you ask if they know for sure the pilot is going to be there.

So glad I did, Highly recommended!

You must add this stop to any trip in the Ashland, Richmond, Hanover area. The property is amazing, the house is original and has some original Patrick Henry pieces inside, and the docents are magnificent. Scotchtown is the home of Patrick Henry who famously declared at the second Virginia Convention, “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death. He went on to serve as the first Governor of Virginia from 1775-1779 and again from 1784-1786. Patrick Henry Lived at Scotchtown from 1771 thru 1778 and it was her that he practiced law and became known as the Orator of the Revolution. He crafted his Liberty or Death Speech. While I arrived and purchased my tour ticket in person at the gift shop, you can book your tour on line through the Scotchtown Website. I arrived at Scotchtown and took the first guided tour of the morning. We met our guide Dawn in front of Mr. Henry’s Home. As we entered the large home our Guide gave us a lot of information on the life of Patrick Henry during his time here along with pointing out original Henry artifacts that were in each room. The home is quite large, and our tour lasted a full hour and was filled with history and information. Our Guide Dawn was excellent. Her knowledge of the Henry Family and the history of Scotchtown and Hanover County was extensive. Scotchtown is a hidden gem of not only Virginia History but also of our Nations History. It is located in rural Hanover County about 10-miles or so west of Ashland, Virginia. I so enjoy my visit and tour and would highly recommend making the effort to visit this amazing piece of American History.

What a fantastic experience! Scotchtown feels like a hidden gem. It's less known than the homes of other of our founding fathers, but just as worthy of a visit.

Tom was our guide and I can't say enough good things about him. He was so interesting, full of knowledge, engaging,, and skilled in his delivery. He is one of the best docents I've ever encountered.
We learned so much and am looking forward to return visits.

Visited Scotchtown on my daughter's field trip. So I'm not quite sure if they have daily tour guides, although I did see you can do a self guided audio tour. The guides we had were fantastic. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We had one walk us through Patrick Henry's home, one guide the grounds and the last talk about traveling and difference between the Militia and Continental armies. Little bit of a history buff, especially the Revolutionary War, so I might have found it a bit more entertaining than the kids, lol. Learned quite a bit about Patrick Henry and the workings of his plantation. Farming ice for the Ice House in the winter was cool to learn and see. The property is very well maintained. They have some sheep you can go check out as well. If you have a little bit of time to kill or want to bring your kids, Scotchtown a little interesting.

Decided to try this place because my boyfriend and I were staying nearby for a little weekend getaway and a winery sounded good. There weren’t many people here and the staff devoted so much attention to us. They were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, introducing each of us to 3 or 4 of their wines that we absolutely loved. One of the women even convinced us to get 3 bottles to take home! Only thing that would have made it better was if we went on a day they had a food truck but honestly the wine and service was so good, who cares!

The enormous parking lots speak to the popularity of this spot in the summer. We came in early spring and enjoyed having the place to ourselves. Lots of birds to be seen and we even came across a deer running through the woods. The beach area looks like fun for swimming. We stopped at the Weirs Cove area. Hard to find the trail heads, but the one we found meandered right along the lake shore. Several picnic tables and a shelter at this spot make it a really cute area for a picnic.

Great experience x2! I stopped at lake Anna spot #32 twice within a week. I stopped there headed north, and when I headed back south. I made a reservation, in traffic, for the wrong day. I called and the clerk changed it with no issues. Lake Anna is a man made lake, and had a railroad to accommodate the train cars shipping out gold! You cannot pan for gold though without a "Special use permit" so I didn't end up doing that. I did however park my camper, hook up to power and water, then I dumped my tanks in the large clean area designated. There is also fresh water at the dump site. Staff is friendly, informed on the history of the area, and very prompt with site turn over. I look forward to exploring on day when I'm not just passing through.
There is a handicapped accessible yurt, and cute cabins available, and by cute, I mean they seem tiny! I haven't seen the inside, so I can't be sure what's in them, but maybe a bed and a fridge? I can't imagine much more.
Cool park though, no discounts, no military, nothing, but it was a convenient place to stop.

We really enjoyed our stay, the Cabin 2 was quite large and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. It was great to have our porch shoveled after a snow, and when we couldn't initially get into our cabin, a ranger was there within 5 minutes. The State Park is beautiful in the winter, and we enjoyed our little family stay at the cabin.
The cabin itself was very spacious inside, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very clean, and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots/pans, silverware, cups etc.
The view from the cabin was underwhelming, but it was nice to have rocking chairs on the porch outside for relaxing when it's warm enough.

Lake Anna SP is very well maintained with both their campsites and hiking trails. The trails have sufficient stopping points with benches and falled trees. The trails were all clearly marked with placards placed high so they are not concealed by foliage. The campsites are all well maintained with access to trails, roads and utilities. During our trip I felt that everything I needed was no more than an arms reach away and never too out of the way. Trail parking was limited about 8 spots total so if you are going for hiking get there early. $10 admin fee on the weekend and $7 week days other than holidays.
Would travel again.

Our weekend at Lake Anna State Park was fabulous. The fall colors were absolutely beautiful. We hiked about 10 miles total over two days and enjoyed staying at the campground.

We went on the gold mine tour and it was great! Lots of good information, super family friendly and the tour guide (Lauri I think?) Was amazing with the kids. This tour requires walking up/down a hill in the forest so not recommended for those with mobility difficulties. It was really cool panning for gold and I could see the pyrite sparkling in the water as I looked! So cool!
Be sure to bring sunscreen and bug spray!

It is one of the best state park i have visited!
Entrance fee is 10$ for parking with only car.
I am giving one star less because there is no shower place after swimming.
I think it would be convenient for people to take light shower after swimming.
They should include that

Had a great time with friends and their families, it was full by the time I got there but people left kinda early so got better after.
The kids had a blast, it’s dog friendly. Weather was great and the park is kept well maintained, the bathrooms were a mess but I guess that’s expected in a place with a lot of people going and not time to clean it.
Overall it was a great weekend.

My wife and I tent camped for 2 nights at the park. It was a lovely time to go (early April) so it was very peaceful and quiet. I bet in the summer time it's a busy campground. They had ice, wood, and some odds and ends at the camp store. Their staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the park. The bathrooms were pretty decent compared to other VA state parks. The showers are private with locking doors and that's a big upgrade from other parks. There is many pretty trails to enjoy and our dog loved every moment around the lake and the park.
I highly recommend Lake Anna State Park for anyone looking to get away for the day or camp for several days.

This could be one of the best parks if it was utilized better.... So much space not utilized... The beach area is very small... It was so busy that around 1:00 p.m. they close the park... They were turning people around that had their picnic ready and were hoping to spend some time in the park... I'm sure if the management had the money from the county they can make this park one of the best places to spend the weekend at... Instead. It's very busy and chaotic..... We wanted to get a slushie but you would have to wait half an hour just to be able. Based on what I saw, it's a beautiful park, however, it is so busy that it's very unenjoyable... Either expand So people can enjoy it or close it and make it private.

We came here as a last minute suggestion and it was AMAZING! You have a distillery, winery and brewery to try, which is way more options that what we could try in one day. We ordered some food and enjoyed our wine flight at the lake they have, which was very nice. Definitely recommend!

It was early afternoon and my wife and I were on the road and feeling like stopping for lunch. We had been recommended to try Old House when we were in the area, and since we were very close at the time, we turned in to Corkys Lane and thought we'd give it a try. Old House is a larger facility than some of the wineries we'd visited lately. The complex had a winery, a distillery, and a brewery. The brewery sounded good to us. We first entered the Taproom. It was a fairly large space with long tables that seated 6-10 people. It seemed that it would be perfect for a large group. At one end was a long bar that stretched the width of the room, with 3 very friendly people waiting to help us. At the far end of the room was the food vendor Green Ribbon. We placed our food order, then since we had a few minutes headed to the Irish Pub to take a look.
Kearney's Irish Pub was a more intimate space than the Taproom. Along one wall was the bar, which like the Taproom had all of the beers and wines Old House had available. The walls were decked out in Irish memorabilia, and from the ceiling hung flags of all of the counties of Ireland. At one end of the room was a scale model of the Titanic.
My wife and I each ordered a pint. I had the Culpeper Cream, and my wife had the Helles Lager. Both beers were very good, nice and smooth and beer that we would purchase again if available to us.
When the food was ready, I picked it up from the Taproom and brought it back to the pub. We ordered Maryland Crab Dip with Tortilla chips. It was good, but could have been a bit more crabby and a bit less cheesy. My wife ordered Cevice, which she reported as being good but not spectacular. She said the seafood pieces could have been more bite-sized. I ordered a BBQ pork sandwich with cole slaw. The BBQ pork was excellent, if a little fatty. The cole slaw was obviously home made and definately added to the sandwich.
All in all, it was a very nice lunch stop. I try to keep my review of the food separate from the venues and the beer. The food was fine. We very much enjoyed the Taproom and especially Kearney's Irish Pub. It was a very comfortable place to have a pint and a conversation. We plan to make a return trip to Old House to sample the wines, which are excellent as we're told.

A Burrito & Cupcake quick stop on our girls’ weekend tour of Culpeper. We went on Saturday evening because Cupcake hyped up the Pub and the burgers. We left early because the Pub ended up being closed for a private event. Overall a stunning venue. You can instantly see why they do a lot of weddings. Burrito will have to make it back for a burger. The loss of the star is only because the Pub closure wasn’t clear when we looked online.

amazing winery, brewery and distillery. today had the ipa, a sweet white that one of the amazing employees recommended and quite possibly the best gin ive tasted. venue is amazing. staff is amazing. beverages are top notch. i guess i need to figure out when this pizza oven is firing. oh, and if your very lucky, you might run across 'the grandmas', absolutely delightful spending the afternoon with them!

My husband and I got married at this venue this past June and cannot explain enough how amazing it was. From the one-of-a-kind stunning ceremony setting, cute cocktail hour patio and a very nice pavilion, we were so impressed by the breathtaking beauty of this place.
In addition to the beauty, the family that owns Old House is extremely patient, kind, helpful, and genuine. Ryan was our contact for the wedding and was SO helpful. His parents also played a role in helping to ensure the day flowed smoothly and beautiful. Their flexibility and generosity confirmed that we chose the right place to get married.
Old House is an absolute dream to get married at- and we can't wait to visit again and remember our perfect day. We would highly recommend this to anyone!

Amazing place. Where else can one get first rate distilled spirits, a wide selection of beers and wines, an authentic Irish bar, and a WWII museum, all amid 165 acres of ponds, vast mountain views, picnic tables and chairs, and a warren of cozy rooms in a number of beautifully preserved antique buildings carefully reconstructed by Pat, the owner, a skilled artisan?

Easily our favorite winery in NoVA. Granted, we're a bit biased since we got married here 10+ years ago. ;). Tons of alcohol selection, plenty of space (even when it's busy, it never feels crowded), and very flexible food options. Bring your own, buy their food, very chill. Family friendly. Most importantly, the wine is great!

Came out for my dad's birthday because we couldn't pick between a brewery or winery - and here you don't have to pick (you also get a distillery as an added bonus)!
Really cool location and the grounds are beautiful. An interesting collection of military memorabilia scattered around and the distillery doubles as a mini museum. Plus the staff in the distillery section were a whole other level of kind. Ordered a flight and they ended up letting me sample a few extras on top of that so I could "get the full experience" and they gave me a little shot glass as a memento as well! Service like that brings people back.
The wine, according to my parents was really good and the beer I had was really solid as well. They had a restaurant set up in there too with a very interesting menu.
Overall an amazing experience for the whole family and birthday well celebrated at Old House!

For our girls' afternoon out, we visited OH. It was such a lovely experience for us. We tried the wine and went to the distillery. The group had way too much fun, and our bartender at the distillery was so pleasant and chimed in with us, making the experience even better. Looking forward to going back next year so we can walk thru the Vinyard before they harvest.

To celebrate our birthday my bff took us to Old House...we really enjoyed ourselves.
At the distillery, we received an in depth history lesson from our wonderful friend Alan😊
Autumn was so nice to us. Not only did she pour for us, she also made me a dog tag that I treasure. The Black X coffee, Dude spirit and Diceros barrel aged rum are all smooth and delicious😋
The A-Team work extremely well together. I can't wait to come back for a visit.

Great place to visit - its a vineyard, brewery, and a distillery with an Irish pub and a tasting room with some really cool WW2 artifacts. The spirits are unique and very good (try the Bumbo....), the beer was good with a nice variety. You can bring your own food or order on site.

A stunning place for a Fall wedding! Two suggestions for the property for weddings: The Pavilion could definitely use more heaters-- It was bitterly cold and made it hard for older and younger guests to stay for the entire wedding. Additionally, while signs indicated that the house was off-limits to everyone except the wedding party, the rest of the property stays open and people visiting the winery and brewery were walking through the house and disregarding the signs knowingly, several of them while we were in there getting ready. This is concerning for several reasons, but most of all because the wedding parties are supposed to be able to leave their personal items upstairs during the wedding and there's not actually any protection against other visitors coming in and helping themselves.
Wedding parties, please be aware that if you're getting ready in the house, there's really only room for one side of the party at a time. If there is a side or two sides of your party getting hair and makeup done at the house on site, please, please give them enough time to do so as mirrors, outlets, and bathrooms are limited. There is only one bathroom upstairs where everyone is to get ready, so plan accordingly (there is a bathroom down the stairs, but that part of the house seemingly remains open to the public so you do have to contend with that). The bridal party was supposed to get ready in the smaller of the two rooms, but there simply isn't enough space for that, especially for parties of 7-10 or more (including Mother of the Bride and flower girl). As I wasn't the bride or groom for this wedding, I don't have information about what was communicated to them ahead of time about these spaces.
First time visit this places today. The wines are amazing. Wine tester was very friendly and no push at all. Will definitely come back

I first heard of Gray Ghost Vineyards when driving west on Lee Highway one day. I hadn’t had the chance to visit in person yet, but I recently purchased a bottle of their Seyval Blanc wine as a gift. It arrived promptly (I live in VA, so the shipping was very quick) with no issues. As for the quality of wine, to be determined, but the soil and climate in that area are brilliant, so it is probably on par with Virginia’s fine wines. The name is very cool as well, perhaps one of the most interesting of all Virginians. Would highly recommend, cheers. Cannot wait to visit in person one day.

I've been going here for nearly two decades and the wines just get better. This year's line of of 2021 and 2022 vintages are all excellent. Strong recommendation for all VA wine lovers

A longtime Virginia winery that offers a great tour of their facilities. A word about these: they are state of the art and simply very cool, especially the wine cellar (pun intended!). Our wine tasting was held by one of the co-founders and owners, Al Kellert, and it’s clear he loves his job and knows about his wines. Book ahead for the tour and tasting if you have a large group. They’re celebrating 29 years now so enjoy the mini museum-like display in the main area that tells the vineyard’s history (and for the adorable pix of the his and his wife’s (Cheryl) grandchildren).
I would deduct a 1/4 star if I could because there aren’t many nibbles on the menu, but you can carry your own picnic to enjoy with your bottle of wine (you cannot bring your own alcohol!).
Visited as part of a Spirited Wine winery and vineyard tour and it was lovely. Great experience.

This place offers around 10 wines for a $5 tasting. About half are whites or reds and a dessert type.
The tasting room is small and will hold about 8 or more at a time per table. The rest is open space or lounging area on the second floor.
Outside there is a pleasant seating area and a large apple tree to relax under. Parking is a gravel lot and very spacious and flat unlike other wineries.
As of 2016 Va Go pass provides free tasting. Though at first they did not seem to understand what my card was for. Recommended double check the site for instructions on using the pass.

The Gray Ghost Vineyards has been in business for 25 years. What can I say, this place is lovely for a stop in and try a few of their wines. The estate is immaculate and the folks that run it are kind and welcoming. I highly reccomend this vineyard if you are out for an adventure.
Narmada Winery is a beautiful upscale winery with a peaceful and kid-friendly atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, offering a great wine tasting experience. Visitors can enjoy the selection of wines while lounging on the wraparound verandah or patio with lovely views. The winery also offers Indian food that is described as very tasty and authentic, including vegetarian options like saag. On some days, there's live music to enhance the experience.

The property is beautiful and peaceful, so it was a real treat to enjoy a selection of their wines while lounging comfortably on the wraparound verandah/porch. Their white wines are especially good. The Indian food offered is also very very tasty and authentic. Visited on a Saturday and there was love music, which was a great touch. Narmada is good for a chill day of wine drinking (on the wraparound or on one of the chairs beneath one of the many trees), nibbling, and going then going for a walk to the pond.

Pro Tip: ask the staff about the origin story. There is a story behind the name of the Winery and it's wines.
What i liked:
1. Friendly owner and staff
2. Peaceful and kid friendly
3. Flights were good
4. Butter chicken and hummus were great
5. On a hot summer day, don't forget to try the slushy
What I didn't like:
1. Probably the worst Samosas that I have ever had. Super oily, not crispy at all, were not well wrapped

We had a bridal shower planned on the 9th and had to change the date the 22nd. The winery was so accommodating and extremely helpful on the day of. Their team helped to setup and clean up. They were very hospitable and I love their wine. Just a beautiful venue overall.

Special call out to Domenic for today’s tasting; we made 4 new friends today because of his capability to handle multiple tastings.

Amazing small winery. Beautifully decorated and wonderful view from the tasting room. The wines are done well with nothing overly complex but also very well balanced. The whites shine through for me and the reds are young but have potential. The staff is amazing thank you Sheila. We will be back. This is a must go to for many reasons, so many that I might miss a few. Top notch knowledgeable-friendly staff that are always on point and not there to rush you out of the door like cattle. Large tasting bars to accommodate quite a few people trying out their 18+ wines for a $10 tasting fee if you aren't a member (reds, whites, a port style and sweets all great). Plenty of space to relax inside and out, new seating areas currently being created. Purchasable snacks. Clean bathrooms. Lots of parking. Great scenery and wine makers!! Definitely visit the "53rd winery of VA".

Amazing hospitality from the staff at Fifty-Third. We live just a few minutes away, so this has become a weekly afternoon picnic spot. We always feel so welcome & our children just love playing in all of the green, open space on site. Live music on the weekends is a bonus. Quite a few wines to choose from, and although I haven’t tried them all, I’ve found 5-6 “favorites” that I gravitate towards.
Took me forever to finally come even though I've wanted to since it opened. Throughly enjoyed it and the whole experience was great! Food was good and quick, parking worked out so we could see good, had a very pleasant time. Will definitely be back and would recommend!

What a great experience! The staff is nice and respectable. Concessions are decently priced. If you have children, there is a playground and open field where they can play while waiting for the movie(s) to start. Movie can only start once the sun goes down, so just be aware of that. I also saw some dogs enjoying the movies as well, so I assume they are welcome. Love the drive-in. Definitely give it a chance if you haven't already!

Love this place! Memories are made here weather you are raising a family or making a family. There are so few drive-in theaters left in America today. That is why people come from miles around. We were so excited to come see the Eras Tour movie here, but this drive-in unfortunately does not communicate clearly on their tickets or website about shows. The website is incredibly outdated, difficult to find information, and inaccessible. Tickets for shows display that the show begins at 5:15 and you should be there at 4:15. However, if you scroll through multiple website pages it shows that shows do not begin until around 7:45pm. Based on our tickets, we arrived at 4:15pm. In front of us, a woman with multiple kids and an infant was upset due to the theatres lack of correct information. She had to leave. We drove an hour to get there and then an hour home because we also had to leave due to health reasons.
We really did want to love this drive in so much and we were so excited. Extremely disappointing that lack of communication and clarity ruined this experience for us.
A tip for the owners: Please prioritize fixing your website and making it more clear and accessible. Posting on Facebook is NOT equivalent to maintaining your business website.
Edit 11/2023: Incredible customer service! Someone reached out to me after writing my initial review and offered new tickets and food on them! Unfortunately, we weren’t able to go but GDT gave us a full refund and were so kind and responsive to work with. We will be trying again in the future for sure!

Enjoyable atmosphere, well maintained grounds & restrooms, nice play ground and activities for small children. Their food was pretty tasty for what it was "fast food" (mozzerella sticks, chicken nuggets, hamburgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs, nachos, candy, soda, water, hot cocoa, etc.) and affordable! Staff at the gate and food service were very friendly! There is a designated smoking area too. I loved it, very nostalgic!

Montpelier, the former home of President James Madison, is a historical landmark situated on an extensive estate containing his tomb. Despite being overshadowed by Thomas Jefferson's fame in the area, visitors will find Montpelier to be a remarkable property located 25 miles north-east of Charlottesville. Madison was an intellectual and introverted individual who focused on his studies and played a significant role in drafting the Constitution.
Unfortunately, the house wasn't open yet (3/5/22); it opens next week. I happened to be in the area for something else but saw the signs so I decided to stop by for a tour. My tour guide was Zeb G. and he was AMAZING!!!!! Very knowledgeable and kind. There was still much to see around the property that made the tour worthwhile even without being able to go inside the house. I'm sure if there are other tour guides there, they're fantastic but whenever I go back for the house tour, I'll be looking for Zeb - highly recommend him!

I decided to take a solo trip to visit Montpelier because I wanted to have as much time as I wanted to explore. I could not have asked for a better tour or day to enjoy learning and exploring. My tour guide was so knowledgeable and I took a lot of good notes to share with my students.
I loved walking the gardens and grounds as well.
Their new exhibits “mere distinction of color” are also wonderful. I love their emphasis on valuing all people that lived here, not just James Madison.

We only visited the grounds (which are huge) and the slavery exhibition. Fairly priced at $13pp. We didn’t see a soul in the woodlands. During a hot summer’s day, a stroll in Montpelier would be fantastic. Such a pleasure to see a walled garden as well. The flowers were beautiful and the gardener clearly loves his work. For a visit of the house itself, advanced booking is very recommended. I would suggest a 2-3 hour minimum to get the most out of the site.

While the tour is a bit pricey, for us it was well worth it. The guide was first class with knowledge and interaction with the group of 11 people. We skipped the basement exhibits to have time to see the cemetery before closing.

Great guide in Peter. Very knowledgeable. So much history. I learned a lot. They didn't sugar coat the truth of slavery. Definitely recommend. Take your time and watch the videos in the downstairs of the main house. Also nice video in visitors center.

Very well maintained.
Nice gift shop and a small cafeteria.
The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Watched a short video in the gift shop, then
toured the grounds and house.
The tour does cost money, but was well worth the price.
The tour guide was wonderful.
Walked through the small “museum,” and to the cemeteries separately.
It was well worth the trip.
Definitely learned a lot about Madison and his family.

Great piece of American history. Our tour was very informative and took us throughout the house. My only complaint is that their is no museum that talks about Madison's life.

They have done a fantastic job restoring the house and adding context to the story. I definitely recommend one of their guided tours.

Really well managed. We got the general tour, which was fantastic- our tour guide was engaging and very knowledgeable. The pace was leisurely and many of the exhibits were self guided, so we were able to learn about things at our pace. I really enjoyed this.

Montpelier has been on my list and I had a really enjoyable time visiting. I went on a Sunday afternoon in early March. I did the house tour which included the property pass. We really didn’t get into too many rooms in the house but it was a great experience. I’m not 100% convinced that James Madison wasn’t a Freemason but that’s just my feeling. The tour guides were excellent storytellers and the people at the ticket area were very helpful! I would have liked to have more time to tour the outdoors areas but that’s my own fault for not getting there earlier. Lots to see and learn, definitely worth the trip.

Excellent tour with Kathleen, our tour guide. We all agreed it was better than Monticello. She did an amazing job of giving a history lesson while putting things in context of the times and Madison's life. We've been to Mount Vernon, Williamsburg, and Monticello, and this tour was our favorite. It lasted about an hour and she also did a great job of talking about the impact of the enslaved people on Madison's life and ability to focus on politics, the Constitution, and higher thinking.
Highly recommend for families and a great history lesson.

I’ve visited Montpelier multiple times with friends and family. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about Virginia, American history, and the writing of our constitution. The museum is great for a short visit - tours of the house take around an hour. Or you could spend all day here, visiting the cemeteries, the dependencies, the exhibits outside of the main house tour, and even walking miles of hiking trails! The work that has been done to the property is extensive and everything is beautifully maintained. The guides and staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable.

I had the pleasure of doing a President's Day tour with Helen - she made the tour beyond informative and fascinating!! 100% recommend spending at least 2 hours for the grounds and guided tour.

Our tour guide was well versed on James Madison, and his legislative history. Very informative tour including discussion on the restoration of the mansion. The visitor center had a nice shop. The DuPont family was a former owner of Montpelier. There was a small museum adjacent to the visitor center on the DuPont family's equestrian pursuits including a racetrack.

I really enjoyed visiting Montpelier as I learned a lot while taking the tour as it’s definitely worth it! The tour guide is very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions! The property is absolutely beautiful! I will definitely come back to visit again in the future! I highly recommend it!

We went to Montpelier and Monticello on the same day. I slightly preferred Montpelier and it is 100% because of our amazing tour guide, Ms. Kemp. She was outstanding. Her knowledge of Madison was deep. Her appreciation for the complexity of sharing his life in a time when slavery was so prevalent was admirable. She didn’t sugar coat things and this made the whole experience richer for me.

What a beautiful place to visit! Bring your hiking shoes as there are gorgeous hiking trails all along the property. You can purchase the mansion tour only or both the grounds and mansion tour. Both are self guided which makes it even better! I will be going back! I only got some outside photos this time, but will be getting more of inside the mansion next time!

Where in the world do my reviews go? I reviewed this yesterday but yet it shows up here asking me about it. Blake was our tour guide and he was so very informative. The tour wouldn't have been nearly as good without him giving us all the tidbits. Things in the house are from that time that they were there. Many other things are from the period. The carpet in the dining room is the exact same carpet pattern they had. Ditto the wallpaper. It was pretty gaudy.
My estimation of Dolly Madison is in the pits now. She was a frivolous woman who didn't honor her husband's dying wishes and was a spendthrift.
We went when winter was just beginning. It was cold. We went out on the grounds and I bet the garden, when they had it, was just brimming with beauty and veggies. The gentlemen there were extremely nice.
We went for the 2:00 tour, and it was an hour long. My suggestion is go for an earlier tour because 2:00 takes up the whole day.
The gift shop has some of the most divine measuring spoons I've ever seen in my life. But at $25 it was a bit pricey for me.
They would get many many more people coming in if they drop the price from $36 to $20.
Yes yes, they say that they need the money. And it takes a lot of money for the upkeep. I'm sure it does, but so many more people would come see this place if it wasn't so expensive.
It would also be good to have golf carts for people that can't walk as far as it is from the gift shop. It's an 8-minute walk up a slight hill.
When you come out of the tour it's in the back of the house and it is quite a hike to get back to the parking lot.
Inside of the house there are a few chairs here and there to sit in. For me with plantar fasciitis at the time, it was helpful. But I had already been standing and walking for 40 minutes before then.
If you have any sort of foot/back problem I would think twice before going. It's a _lot_ of standing & walking.
While the information given was interesting, as were some of the items, I don't think the house is worth $36. We got in free on Veterans day.

Old Rag Mountain is a prominent peak that attracts hikers for its exposed summit and magnificent panoramic views. It is situated in Shenandoah National Park, which happens to be the nearest national park. The climb up to the peak can be moderately challenging due to steep slopes, but the breathtaking scenery at the top makes it worthwhile. The mountain is popular amongst tourists visiting Bath County, where they can indulge in numerous sightDOING activities and enjoy its old-school charm.
My favorite trail up until 2021!
This is the first time I try a hard trail. We walked the whole and finished in 9 hours. The best part is the rock scramble! One member of our team is totally new to rock climbing and glad that we made it. It is recommended to take the loop clockwise. For the rock scramble part, it will be slow as some areas are one person pass. I really like the atmosphere that people cheer each other up and give instructions for easier climbing to the following strangers.
We also met the volunteer team! They are super friendly. I regret that I live too far otherwise definitely will apply for it!

Amazing hike. The uphill was challenging and as a 5ft woman some of the scrambles were quite challenging as well. The views were incredible, and I’m so glad I did it.
The way down was a long way, but a lot of it was a fire road which was much welcome after the long climb. Bring lots of water and snacks! We had lunch up top-just remember to leave no trace.
My fiancé did the hike in tennis shoes so it’s doable but wouldn’t recommend. I was very thankful for my hiking boots with good traction and ankle support!
Madeline Roberts — Google review
We came here expecting a challenging hike with a stunning view. We were not disappointed at all.
Getting to the summit was the most challenging hike I’ve been on so far. The beginning of the ascent wasn’t too bad until we hit the rock scramble. Right away the difficult sky rocketed. Lots of places required using both arms and legs to get around. I’m thankful I brought good hiking shoes with good grips as well as gloves, otherwise the climb would’ve been a lot more challenging.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the challenge, and once I got to the summit, I was rewarded with the view. It was very beautiful, despite it being early spring and therefore not as vibrant as the summer. It was still amazing to see though and it was well worth the climb.
The descent was a lot easier. It was longer distance, but it was much flatter. At the end of the hike, we were exhausted but satisfied. I’m looking forward to coming back sometime again, hopefully in warmer conditions next time.

Excellent hike but in October, quite muddy and dangerously slippery on the climbing parts
Dylan Pr?vost — Google review
This is an intense hike with multiple challenges. If you are an experienced hiker, the scramble is likely to be your favorite part. If you are inexperienced, the scramble will probably be challenging and a little intimidating (though not insurmountable for most). If you are very small or large person you will face some unique obstacles including some extended reaches, squeezes, and/or flexibility challenges. Again, not insurmountable for most, just challenging.
The trail begins at the moderate level and goes “up” from there. I’ve tried to include pictures of many of the scramble sections to help folks get an idea of what the rock scramble looks like. The trail gets progressively rockier the higher you go until you finally get to the scramble section. One of the first intimidating elements is an approximately 8’ gap you have to shimmy down. It looks scary at first glance but is actually not bad as there are easy foot and hand holds. This remains true for much of the rest of the hike where scrambling is required. There were only a couple of spots that didn’t have easy foot or handholds. A hiking buddy is a great idea.
The hike down from the summit is pretty easy on the fire trail, although it is long (5 miles). Make sure you have plenty of water.
Like many have said, parking on weekends can be tough. We got there at 8:30 am and there were 2 parking spots left in the main lot (there is an overflow lot).
Chad Taylor — Google review
An absolutely beautiful, but very challenging hike. We went on a gorgeous, cloudless day, so the views were impeccable. It is ove 9 miles with the first 3.5 leading up to the summit. Lots of rock scrambles with some tight squeezes and slippery parts, so wear shoes with good tread on them (I made the mistake of wearing old tennis shoes with worn down tread and ending up falling through a crevice at one point). Definitely bring lots of water and high protein snacks. There are a lot of people, but you will be grateful for that as everyone is so helpful and supportive especially around the rock scrambles! Be safe, have fun, and happy hiking!

Simply magical. This hike is moderately difficult if you're inexperienced at hiking due to its steep slopes, but the view at the end is worth it. The best hike in Virginia I've experienced so far.
Yonah Edens — Google review
Been multiple times, Its a hike that starts steep and then goes straight into a crazy rock scramble! Lots of wildlife, rewarding views and a refreshing windy peak! I would advise against going on a rainy day because the rocks will get slippery and hard to climb.
Jessica Hays — Google review
This is an amazing hike and view. The intensity is a moderate intensity as the elevation gain is around 1700ft. It is a long upgrade so it is not super steep. I recommend bringing plenty of water and energy bars. The view is AMAZING and the hiking path is well maintained.
elevaTOURS (dieselducy) — Google review
Old Rag is a fantastic hike! When you get near the top the trail turns into a bunch of giant boulders that you navigate through, sometimes you go under them, sometimes you go over them. It’s like a playground nature built for us, I can’t put into words how much fun it is.
It’s important to know that the park limits the number of hikers per day. You can register online 30 days prior to your hike, that’s what I did and recommend doing the same.
The whole hike is really fun, I saw lots of nature including seeing an Owl swoop down, grab a snake, and then fly up into a tree and start to eat it, it was amazing! Happened in the middle of the day.

Great Hike. Definitely not for causal hikers if you take the ridge trail. Need some upper body strength to get through the rock scramble. Definitely a great hike on east coast for 360 views above tree line

My favorite DC getaway place. Love this place. VERY IMPORTANT to know that you need to register ahead of time before they let you in the trail since it’s a very popular trail. There’s absolutely no signal from any carrier whatsoever, so make sure you register before you go. Please wear appropriate shoes, I’ve seen multiple people breaking ankles here. So be careful. And lastly, just enjoy one of the most amazing views you can find in VA.

The most iconic scenic overlook in Shenandoah national park! Everyone has to come and see it when visiting the national park. Spectacular views bring your camera. Beautiful place to hike. The hike can be rather challenging of you go on the loop. If you go clockwise, you will have steep hike at the beginning which can be tough if you don't take your time. The path is wide with no significant obstacles so you can be tempted to hike faster that can be breath taking. However, of you go counter clockwise, it's going to be just fun with some really nice views at the summit at the end of the hike.

I came here to watch sunset. The view is wide open and you get to see plain area down the mountain. Far far away a storm was going on so the sun was mostly blocked by the dark clouds. You can see lightening struck thru the dark clouds once for a while.
I would prefer watching sunset down the mountains than plains. But when night falls, lights lit up down the mountain, it can be a different scenery.
Yet from here you have a perfect view of the old Stony Man lying on a side.
Next time if I come, I will try to watch stars here.

The stony man overlook was absolutely breathtaking! There is plenty of room for those who want to pull in and park. Highly recommend!
We booked the lawn for my brother's memorial celebration. The staff was incredible (looking at you M(N)icky) and provided tables and chairs. The weather was amazing and the view is breathtaking.
We had a few folks do a tasting afterward and they all had good things to say. I ended up with a bottle but haven't cracked into it yet. Perhaps tonight, lol!
I couldn't recommend this place more. The next event I have, hopefully a happy one, will be here for sure!!

Been to several wineries in the area and this one stuck out. Good wine & very nice grounds. Not sure if they usually do it, but they even had complimentary chili, clam chowder, and crackers during our tasting.

Unfortunately we had a really lousy experience yesterday. At one time the winery must have been nice as there are accolades hanging on the walls as you walk in. But things have changed. The atmosphere was unkempt and dingy and looks like it hasn't been updated in decades. The person we purchased our wine from was grumpy and told us nothing about the wines we ordered. The flight was served on a paper plate with three small plastic cups of wine ( possible COVID style still) for $12.95 a piece with the wine names scribbled on the plates. So disappointing as the wine didn't even taste good.
Marie Bruggeman — Google review
The outside was pretty... Not good for photos though because of all of the trash cans and safety cones. Inside was cold and uninviting. Dead silence, no music or anything. Very awkward. The lady behind the bar told us she doesn't drink wine at all. Very off-putting. Our wine flight was served in plastic shot glasses on a paper plate. Very cheap feeling. $40 for two flights, I'd like an actual wine glass. We didn't love any of the wine we tried either. This place is a bummer.
Carrie Plume — Google review
This would likely be a 2 but went with 3 stars because the staff was friendly. There is a lot of potential with this location that isn’t being used to its fullest. The outside is neat resembling a castle but the inside is all
kinds of confusing and dated. The flights are way overpriced and no one guides you through the wines. We went with a bottle rather than a flight because we saw the plastic cups on a plate being served. It is a nice touch to have puzzles and games for guests to use while sipping wine. We enjoyed our Eclipse wine but wouldn’t need to return.

Such an interesting winery and such great tastings. We chose individual flights - which Horton changes and themes routinely - and brought home several favorites. The grounds include plenty of picnic spaces and beautiful views.

On 9/17 we road over an hour and fifteen minutes to Horton on our winery tour to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. When we entered the parking lot, which was empty, we wondered if there was a private event or if they were closed. They were open. No one greeted us so I asked the young man behind the counter what did we need to do for a tasting. He rudely said I’ll be with you once I’m done with this pour. In the meantime a woman comes out to help us who was very snarky. When we went over to get out pour I acknowledged to the young man how things has changed. He was exceptionally RUDE!!! Why have a job dealing with people if you can’t at least be cordial, respectful and just a decent person. I love the wine there but I will NEVER spend another cent on the wine from Horton. Was it us a group or African American females that made it okay for you all to treat us all poorly? When we got back in the limo the other ladies commented on their rude behavior. Our limo driver said a woman came out and told her where to park like she was holding up parking spaces.
There was literally NO ONE there and now I know why. If you want to continue to like Horton do not visit in person because their attitude and lack of customer service will make you DISLIKE them and their winery.
The worst experience ever!

Since moving to Virginia, our goal has been to hit all vineyards on the Monticello Wine Trail. We’re almost at the halfway mark and already consider Horton to be near the top!
Our wine host was an absolute delight and knew her trade. She took our feedback and made perfect selections for our flights. The wine is poured into small plastic cups, but you are given wine glasses for the actual sampling. It was also a treat to meet the wine maker. We are excited for the next batch of Bone Orchard!

2 oz pours. I wasn’t crazy about the wine. The vineyard was beautiful. Friendly staff
Michelle Fuhr — Google review
We stopped by yesterday afternoon after hearing good reviews from Horton’s competitors. Boy were we disappointed. When we entered the tasting room the gentleman man doing the pouring didn’t acknowledge we were there in fact the only customers at the time. When we stepped up to the tasting bar simply said are you here for a tasting and still didn’t acknowledge us. He gave us a “brief” description of how the tasting was priced. Didn’t talk about the winery, didn’t talk about the wine. We selected 3 whites and 3 reds still without a description of the wines and took the order on a paper plate. Charged us $18 for 6 1oz pours in medicine plastic cups. Told us our order was done and didn’t thank us for coming in or the order. We have visited hundreds of wineries throughout the country and live in VA where there are great wineries to chose from. I guess we will stay with the competition.
Mark Stuckey — Google review
I'd give no stars if I could. I have always enjoyed their wine selection, but the person helping us was extremely rude. Was very short with everyone in our party, acted like they did not want to wait on us, and would mumble under their breath about side conversations we were having. I ended up not purchasing anything because I did not want to deal with the attitude again. What was going to be a nostalgic visit to an old favorite quickly soured.
Christina Chenoweth — Google review
Both staff members spent a lot of time with us and helped us find great wines to take home. Enjoyed the experience and the conversation! And the wines, especially the port varieties, were great. To the reviewers who poo-pooed the plastic cups - get over yourselves. They offered us a glass for the tasting and you could have done that. We did. Will be back.
Karen Bailey — Google review
We stopped by for the first time in a few years this weekend. The service was great, the woman who helped us was very friendly and so helpful, if we were rating on service alone it would be 5 stars.
The main thing is the tasting cost is obscene now - $19 for 6 tiny plastic cups on a paper plate with no guided tasting is just absurd. The wine was also, for the most part, not very good. It was such a drastic difference from what we remembered. I don’t think we will be back anytime soon.

We had a pleasant time here, although we started in the patio, but had to move inside as the temp dropped. Tried a few wine flights amongst the six of us and settled on our favorites. Staff was wonderful and the service was very good. Nice place to hang out and sample some wines.

Our server was excellent and made our visit very enjoyable. Everything was delicious. A wonderful experience, beautiful location, and great place to celebrate a birthday. Our only regret was that the kitchen closed an hour after our 3:00 reservation time and we were limited to two hours prior to a private event. We were only made aware of this the day prior. We would love to come back on a nice day to sit in the outdoor area.

Absolutely gorgeous grounds and Tasting Room. The atmosphere is top tier with ambient big band and jazz music. We tried two flights; one red and one white. I wish the wines were enough of a reason to return. Wines were uninspiring, without much desirable flavor, and mostly tasted like alcohol. I certainly wouldn’t purchase any of the eight we sampled for consumption at a later date. Our meal options were a part of a special event. We sent one dish back as the flavor profiles were inedible. The dish had a strong, malodorous, unappetizing odor that was off-putting to other members of our party. The tenderloin was delicious.

Absolutely beautiful Vineyard located in the hills outside of Charlottesville. Perfect day trip from VA Beach. Out of all the vineyards in the area we picked this one because they have a full kitchen and turn out some very delicious food.
The property is absolutely gorgeous, it's feels like you jumped into a painting. We went in on a Friday and they were moderately busy so I recommend reservations. They also have an absolutely beautiful out back area with a separate "Meadows" menu.
They have so many different wines it was hard to choose a flight. All of the ones we tried were delicious, every single one. The charcuterie and fried polenta also went perfectly with all of our wine. There are also several B&Bs' in the area if you want to make a long weekend out of your trip.

Early Mountain Vineyards for brunch was an excellent choice! We order a red wine flight, even though they do not offer as part of the menu, the manager accommodated our request. The brunch was excellent too.
One suggestion, if you have kids, it might be difficult in terms of food. The menu is very limited and do not have kids friendly options. We also ask, and were told only menu items. I still rate 5 star vineyard!

Very beautiful property. Has a lot of space for guests to walk around. We made a reservation at 1:15 and arrived on time, but didn’t get seated until 1:25 or so. The server at our table was great—friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about their wine/food. The food itself tastes great, but the portions are very very tiny, with pretty high prices. It’s a good place for snacking, but not good value for a full meal.

Overall we had a really good experience here. I'm not a wine drinker, but the others in my party really enjoyed the wine. We had made a reservation and were seated inside, which was beautiful, clean, and spacious. The service was pretty good, and the food we ordered was delicious.
The only real complaint we had was the height of bathroom stalls. The bathrooms were perfectly fine except that the dividers for the stalls were pretty short! Any average size man can easily look over the divider and they wouldn't even have to get on their tippy toes to do it. Management, please, fix this ASAP!

Fantastic winery in Virginia. I dont like va wines but their food was bomb. I would definitely recommend this place. The white wines tasted ok. Get wild mushrooms if you like mushrooms. Mussels were not that interesting.
Preserved remains of a brick mansion designed by Thomas Jefferson, now part of a vineyard & winery.
Loved the atmosphere and the people. The self-service wine tasting was a great idea.

Love this ruin that Thomas Jefferson designed. It’s still in tact to the point you can see how beautiful it must have been. Next stop, the winery ;)

Walked around the house and the only thing left is the brick frame and columns. You could see it was a very nice house before it burned. Cellar, large rooms and high ceilings. Could not get inside or close enough to really appreciate it.

Simple ruin of a the governor's old mansion, designed by Thomas Jefferson. It's well preserved, although you can't get particularly close or see in beyond the exterior walls well, presumably due to safety concerns. Particularly beautiful at sunrise, so if you are staying over in the inn or the cottages, it makes for a great short early morning excursion.

Love this house. Finally made a stop at the family cemetery. My only thing is I wished it was a little more history posted about the house.

We came here during a weekend afternoon, and this place was not crowded at all. Visitors could just park nearby and walk in without buying any ticket. We planned the trip to visit the vineyard first and then came here. It’s a very short drive. Although there’s no much to see, it’s a nice spot to stop by for a bit if you happen to visit this area. Why would this place not get 5 stars? It’s free, well maintained and free. Good views. Ruins are cool. Not much to see but perfect to grab a glass or bottle of win and come hang out.

Interesting historic ruins! Back in the day it was probably amazing. There are like 4 great architectural homes in this area that are impressive. Would be nice to have some tours for the histoey of the area...

We stayed at the 1804 Inn in the Philéo Suite. Everything was luxurious and appointed for the time period. The views, history and story were all explained in depth to help understand the significance of the property. I recommend a tasting. Even if you think you're not a wine person there are SO MANY delicious flavors you can find something to love!! The food was sumptuous. The staff extremely helpful and incredibly friendly!! We were here for our 10th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint!!

Beautiful ruins with a unique history in the mountains of Virginia. Near a winery as well! We went to the ruins in the wintertime but did not go to the winery but we will have to come back and visit again what a beautiful place.
Set in Cumberland State Forest, this 40-acre lake hosts swimming, boating & fishing, plus cabins.
My family and I had a great long weekend here. We watched the sun rise from the porch of our cabin, enjoyed cozy evenings by the fire, and took several walks along trails surrounding the lake (watch out for poison ivy!!!).
The lake offers boat, canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals. We had a fun afternoon on the beach :)
The camp store has many cute souvenirs, as well as some camping essentials.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we may make this an annual destination!

Me and my family had a great day at bear creek. We took the early archery class to star the day and had a great time. Afterwards we explored the trails, fishing along the way. Once we got back to the beach area, we cooked some great food and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. Definitely would recommend. Dogs are allowed.

One of the bath houses is new, it's worth the walk to that one. Small park overall but it has nice easy trails.
The "swinging rope bridge" is out of service.

What a nice park! My girlfriends family rented a cabin for a long weekend here and boy was it nice. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had a great lay out for family time, camp fires, and enjoying the views.
The park itself had walking trails around the lake, canoe/kayak/paddle board/ boat rentals available, and a nice Sandy beach area with a playground and picnic tables available. The only thing I would change was just some trail maintenance. The trails were very narrow which is fine, but there was no maintenance done along the trails to keep the under growth at bay. This area has alot of poison ivy and poison oak which brushes right up on the trails so walk with care!

The speech in lake were a delightful surprise. The beach was clean and nice wasn't too busy nice lake. They have boat rentals and a little store. Very few snack options I believe there was a hot dog a pretzel chips candy and some ice cream sandwich options. So bring your food they have grills and plenty of picnic table areas available for everybody. Highly recommend a nice day at the beach here.

One week of fun! Campground has large, close to level sites, electric only. Water fill and dump available. Warm days, cool nights by the fire. Concrete bike trails stretch east in to the golf course and west along the river to historic town of Morrison and more. Paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming at the lake is amazing. Dogs allowed along half of the beach area, in water and on the paddle boards! Dog friendly restaurants and brewery close by. And of course Red Rocks Amphitheater is less than 4 miles from your camp site!!!

Stayed for 2 nights. Quiet and peaceful state park. Cabins were delightful. We stayed in cabin 11, which is a 3-bedroom, 2-bath setup. Plenty of space and we loved the location. We only had one vehicle but you're allowed up to 3 at this particular cabin.
Basic cooking stuff in the kitchen (pots, glasses, plates, utensils) and no dishwasher or drying rack. And don't forget all the linens. Beds were "campy" so brace yourself for that. Even the under 18 crowd was struggling with the mattress comfort level but it's do-able. Firewood for sale near the office, so that was convenient. Highly recommend for a weekend trip.

Wonderful place to hike, bordering the Cumberland State Forest. Has two main trails about 1.75 miles long each. Both paths circle by the lake.

We visited in the afternoon late May 2023 (Memorial Day weekend). We were hoping to get some paddling done but the weather was not cooperating. It had been raining last day and half and was random showers throughout the day. We did try to do some hiking.
We did visit the Park Office/Store. Just outside there are tons of maps and information on the park and what there is to do. There is also a little library for people to borrow books from which was super cute. Also looks like they have late checking documents sitting right outside the door as well.
This park store by far had the most unique merch of all the VA state parks we have visited. They had so many different hiking medallions, pins, patches, stickers and apparel. We told the ranger they needed to help some of the other parks out with their merch selection. We wanted to buy so many things. There were also a ton of snacks and sweet treats for sale.
We were told this park also had a number of really great cabins or lodges to rent as well. The lake front beach looked very nice and we wanted to spend more time here but the weather just wasn't having it. We will have to book a cabin and stay on site at a future date to do all the hiking and paddling we want. The store down by the water front was not open the day we visited but looked like they had a assortment of stuff for purchasing as well.
The park also offers a junior ranger program but after reading the requirements it looks like it would be almost impossible to do in a couple hours at the park. It requirements multiple visits or a longer stay to complete.
We did take a drive around the cabin loops which are not in the main part of the public part but on a separate road. The lodging did look very nice. This park is also central to a number of other VA State Parks in the area so one tip we were given was to rent a cabin here and then you can explore 4 or 5 other State Parks which should not be more than a 45 min drive away.
Can't wait to come back here and stay in one of the cabins.

Wow! This was our first trip camping here and I was so impressed. So many things to do and see. Lots of staff and rangers as well. They all were so helpful. Love that there’s activities for the kids.
Beach area is very nice and clean. Showers have hot water! Very well taken care of. Thank you VA state parks for such a great standard.
All the prices of snacks, food and rentals are very reasonable!! We’ll be back soon.

Park is great for a day trip or weekend camping. We camped a 4 day weekend. Now I'm ONLY giving 4 stars because some camp sites are not in the greatest shape. We had a rough one, think side of mountain first night. However, park staff was AMAZING and helped us move to a newly renovated site that was absolutely perfect. Bath house is new and well kept, camp hosts in both areas, and wood and ice easily available. Plenty of fishing spots as well as a clean small beach.

Camped the parks “Black Oak Loop” for the weekend. As already mentioned by others, this loop is basically for RV’s 20’ or less and road in to this loop is tight. The sites are super close. Power and water are good. Bath houses were clean. The lake beach was nice with great amenities for water activities (boat launch, swimming beach, canoes & kayak rentals, fishing, etc) lots of picnic areas and there was even a snack bar near the swimming beach. Campers bring what you need cause the closest store does have very much.

Our first time at Bear Creek Lake State Park and we loved it! What a fun place, with something to enjoy by everyone!
Located just outside Charlottesville, Virginia, in the Piedmont region, Monticello was originally a 5,000 acre plantation built by Thomas Jefferson. The estate is now open to the public and features tours of the mansion and slave quarters as well as a museum and cafe.
Awesome Experience & Tour of Monticello! Highly recommend taking the guided tour. Monticello is filled with much history, inventions, interesting architecture and gorgeous gardens of President Thomas Jefferson's. Over the years, I have gone on the guided tour three times and I always learn something new. My favorite are all the inventions of Thomas Jefferson. I also love walking though the amazing vegetable gardens and flower gardens. Highly recommend if you are in the area! Wonderful history!

My wife is a history major and had Monticello on her bucket list, so I decided to take her on a special vacation to visit this historical landmark. What a special day we had despite the rain. The facility was very well organized, had a great gift shop and is well maintained. We decided to take the self-guided tour so we could take our time and really take everything in. My wife was in heaven walking room to room and observing all the historical artifacts in the home of our third president, Thomas Jefferson. The home had paintings, Indian relics, antique furniture, books, a poignant scene of children's toys, and unique technical devices from the 1700-1800s. The grounds were amazing and full of beautiful plants, trees and vegetable gardens. Many areas had QR codes that allowed you to pull up a web site on a cell phone, providing written descriptions and audio recordings. There was a great little snack shop on the grounds that offered unusual soft drinks, candy, ice cream and other wonderful treats. We spent over 2 hours taking it all in and enjoying the breath taking scenic views of the mountains and rolling hills. A truly memorable day learning about the history of the home of our third president of the United States of America.

We had the most excellent guide, Ashley, for the Slavery to Freedom tour. She told the story and asked thoughtful questions that drew her audience into the period. She all of the questions that were thrown at her. She was not judgemental. The museum itself was great at giving us a visual of the man Thomas Jefferson and his plantation. This is an experience that we highly recommend for everyone. The main gift shop had a wealth of additional information. The price for the tour is reasonable given that we had the freedom to see other things.
All of the staff were very nice. I loved the convenience of the air conditioned shuttle. We didn't take pictures of the house this time. The architecture is amazing. Thanks to the foundation for preserving this history. Good job.

We took the Wednesday 11.00 "Behind the scenes" tour. Our guide was fantastic. It was a fact filled and interesting narrative delivered with ease, and he fielded all of the questions that were asked effortlessly. Staff at the ticketing office were also really helpful. The building is interesting albeit a bit strange and the grounds are magnificent.

This is an outstanding property and we were really happy we came up for the day. Thomas Jefferson was quite the architect (along with all his other accomplishments) and this house/grounds has a lot of innovations that you will not see in other houses of that period. Highly recommend the behind the scenes tour and get there early as you can easily spend all day there.

One of the most well done tours I’ve ever been to.
Amazing experience from the drive in to the tour. We purchased the Behind the Scenes Tour that takes you into the house and the rotunda—it’s worth the investment! You get to walk through history. We saw the actual books Jefferson owned, his bed, his personal tools, and so much more. The tour guides are insightful, thoughtful, and kind. Getting to walk through history has no substitute! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Charlottesville!

I had one $#@& tour guide send me to the wrong place to wait for our tour, which then started 15 minutes early. Then openly mocked me for bringing me children (6, 9, 11) on the tour. In front of an entire tour group. Despite this guy...
this place is fantastic. The gardens, the views, the architecture museum. We spent 4hrs here learning and being awed by the significance and history of it all. My wife and I could have easily spent more time there, but kids.
We did the cheapest tour, which is only the ground floor. If it was just the two of us we'd have done the full thing to see the dome. I highly recommend getting there early and doing the architectural museum at the bottom of the hill before going up. Spend a good 45 minutes doing all the reading and learning of what Jefferson did before going to lay eyes on the building.

Spectacular. Monticello is as much a place of learning as it is an architectural feat. I have been over ten times at this point and learn or see something totally new each time. Take an unguided tour if you’re on a repeat visit and linger awhile in the well-appointed rooms. Don’t miss out on the museum next to the bus stop, and by all means go to the store!

Did the 45-min guided tour; very organized. Definitely worth it. Unfortunately, we had only 2.5 hrs to spare, so not enough time. Recommend at least 3 hrs if you want to soak in the history.
Awesome place for history buff. A lot of great history, somber ones too. The guide provided great info about the mansion as well as Jefferson's history, good and bad. The guided tour about slavery at Monticello was a somber one, but a must do. We also attended the "Meet Thomas Jefferson." The gentleman who portrayed Jefferson did an excellent job.
The grounds and gardens were immaculate. The trees are beautiful and saved us from the scorching 90° sun. The views were spectacular.

The Thomas Jefferson Foundation has done a phenomenal job with the aesthetics of the property and restoring the dependencies for their visitors. What I don’t like about visiting here is how commercialized it feels, especially compared to the other historic home tours in Virginia. You pay $42 for the highlights tour, with tours running every five minutes. That means you only have five minutes in each room to hear the guides presentation, look around, and ask questions. Our tour had so many people that we couldn’t see most of the rooms because we were packed in like sardines. We were then shuffled very quickly to the next room. When I asked the ticket counter about other options we were recommended the Behind the Scenes tours or private tours. Private tours start at $750 for four people. I love Virginia history and again, the property was beautiful, I just wish the tour hadn’t felt so crowded and rushed.

Dogs are allowed on the grounds!
We enjoyed our Highlights tour at Monticello, although I wish they gave more information about the house and Jefferson's inventions, special home details, and his amazing contributions to American history .. I had watched a documentary about the house and honestly I learned more watching the documentary than the tour guide: The guide was obsessed with his relationships thus we left the tour early because we couldn't listen to Hannah's commentary; maybe there's a guide who is more involved in the details of the house and Jefferson's accomplishments than Hannah? ... Anyway, it's a beautiful home, gardens are enjoyable.

We did the Highlights tour. Very informative. Our guide, Katrina, led a well-paced tour. We enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds of Monticello on our own. Not great for little kids as there’s nothing for them to do. If they have any knowledge of US History, it’s worth it.

Highly recommended - to include booking your house tour in advance if possible, to reserve the slot that you want.
We found the 'behind the scenes' house tour to be worth the additional money, to include a smaller group and a lot more time in the house. This tour requires you to ascend and descend a pretty steep and narrow staircase.
Free public WiFi by the lower visitor center and the upper house itself. Water refill stations also available by the water fountains.
If you want to do the house tour plus the garden and slavery guided tours, it may be advantageous to pack or plan to eat at the onsite cafe.
The slavery tour was very informative - the stories about the persons that lived here were moving.

Did not realize Monticello had so much to see on the tour. You see history come to life with Jefferson’s speech. There is still much to see if you do not take the house tour. One special feature that helped my daughter get around better, was there free wheelchair access. Be prepared to spend a few hours and wear comfortable shoes.

Helpful to plan out your day before visiting.
Monticello was the primary plantation of Thomas Jefferson, a Founding Father and the third president of the United States. He began designing Monticello after inheriting land from his father at age 14.
The house was built in stages over a period of 40 years, and it is a blend of neoclassical, Palladian, and Jeffersonian architectural styles.
Monticello is known for its octagonal dome, which was the first of its kind in the United States.
The house is also home to a number of innovative features, such as a dumbwaiter, a central heating system, and a water closet.
Monticello was not just a residence, but also a working plantation. Jefferson owned over 130 slaves, who worked the land, tended the gardens, and cared for the house.
After Jefferson's death, Monticello was passed down to his daughter, Martha Jefferson Randolph. She sold the property in 1831, and it changed hands several times before being purchased by the Thomas Jefferson Foundation in 1923.
The Thomas Jefferson Foundation has restored Monticello to its original condition, and it is now a popular tourist destination.
Here are some other cool facts about Monticello:
The house is made of red brick, which was brought from England.
The gardens at Monticello are home to over 6,000 different plants.
Jefferson designed his own furniture for Monticello, and he also made many of the tools used to build the house.
Monticello was the first home in the United States to have electricity.
The house is still equipped with its original dumbwaiter, central heating system, and water closet.
I hope you find these facts about Monticello interesting!

Such a marvelous piece of our history warts and all. By now everyone knows Jefferson owned slaves and fathered children with one of his house keepers/nannies. He was a very complex man and very intelligent. I could go on for several pages about him and his estate. The tour was excellent and the gentleman who is on the site who portrays Jefferson was excellent. I wish there was someone like that at Mt. Vernon to portray Washington. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about my experience here. Our tour guide was excellent. She was personable and very knowledgeable. You can tour all of the grounds, the mansion and basement which was very informative and interesting. There are slave quarters and shops so you get a real feel for what it was back then. The large Jefferson burial area was also interesting to view. A very peaceful serene setting not too far from the mansion.
There is a great visitor’s center and museum and I highly recommend seeing both along with a short film before you take the shuttle up to the mansion. I learned how intelligent, inquisitive and inventive Jefferson was. I highly recommend reading a biography of Jefferson before you visit. It will bring the entire experience to life.

It's worth the cost to get in. Went in the fall, and there were still plenty of tours and things to see. Our tour guide was amazing, well versed, and knowledgeable on everything from the building of the home to the darker history of Jefferson's story. He made Jefferson out as human and a product of his time and not a hero and mythical being.
I am glad to know that although there are a few original pieces, the museum uses replicas as well.
Visit the exhibits near the visitor center where you park for a look at how the house was built, Jefferson's life, and the family trees of his decedents, including Sally Hemmings children.
Parking was easy, and the shuttle service made the trip easier for our party.

Monticello is a wonderful plantation to visit, especially so when the weather is cooperative. The grounds are incredibly well taken care of and you can learn a bit of what life was like by walking around and exploring the various buildings. I love that the gardens are maintained and that the food isn't wasted from them.
I highly recommend doing the guided house tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable of Jefferson's life and Monticello through it's years. There are various other tours you can do, but unfortunately I only had time for the one. There's a lot to learn here outside of what you learn in a grade school history class.
If you have any interest in history, and are around Charlottesville, I suggest making a stop here!

First time I have been when there were guided tours. Although the 45 minute tour was very informative, it requires the whole group to be in one room together with the doors closed so the other tour in the next room can not be heard. The rooms here are small and our group was too big to fit comfortably in the rooms. There is a strick no touching or leaning on anything at all policy which made the tight quarters feel even tighter. Tour sizes need to be smaller or maybe our day was just really busy, but I liked it better when we could do self guided tours. I would not recommend this tour for small children. The rooms are just too small with too much stuff.
But for history and architecture nerds, it is an amazing and interesting home. Don't miss the museum, it has some great displays that show how he modified and expanded the house over the years. And they have a model of his final renovation that was never completed.

Monticello offers a step back in time to learn about the history of one of the forefathers of this country. The tour of the home is pleasant and the tour guides are knowledgeable. There are also multiple other tours of the grounds that provide a great historical perspective of the land and of Jefferson. There is even a Thomas Jefferson character that is found on certain days and times. If you get the chance, stop by to see him. He plays the role with great accuracy and the interaction with him is very memorable.

I just finished reading the 1 star comments. Most of them are about the pricey tickets. 😱😱
The guided tour ticket is $42, and the ground tour ticket is $22.
I bought the guided tour ticket today, 01/20/2024. It was a 45 minutes with one tour guide, his name is Jim. He is a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide. 👍👍👍
Is it worth it to pay $42 dollars and see the third president's house? Well, if you think 45 minutes is too short, you can spend more time exploring the wine cellar, kitchen, and the garden.
I would suggest do some homework before you go. It is because the tour guide was a little bit fast taking before you can even understand the whole story.😅😅😅😅
However, I do have one feedback which I promised the staff I would write to the owner.
It is 26 degrees today with 19 miles per hour wind speed. All of the staffs who worked outdoors today were all shivering 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶.
Is it possible to provide the outdoor propane heater for their health issue concern? ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This was well worth seeing. I did the highlights tour and felt for me, that was plenty. However there is a longer more in-depth tour that also would have been interesting.. Our guide Rogan was spectacular! He explained the history well and encouraged questions. I particularly liked how he addressed the difficult subject of slavery and Thomas Jefferson’s involvement. After the house tour there is an option to tour the slave quarters. Yet again, I was impressed how our guide Louie handled the delicate subject and encouraged thought.
The entire staff from check in to the guides did a tremendous job!

James Monroe's Highland is a renowned historical landmark, serving as the former residence of the 5th US president from 1799-1823. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of the estate, explore its gardens and attend occasional events. Though Monroe's original house was destroyed by fire and later rebuilt, the site still houses some of his personal artifacts. A must-visit for history enthusiasts seeking a complete glimpse into this era and its contributions made by James Monroe such as the famed "Monroe Doctrine.
We didn't have a lot of time, so didn't do a tour of the house. Instead hiked one of the trails on a gorgeous November afternoon. Trails are pretty well marked (we did the blue). Some signage also describing the flora.
It's also a venue for weddings. Got to see a lovely bride 🙂

Nice place to visit for some history. Even though this wasn't James Monroes actually house. His house burned down, and the people who bought the land from him rebuild. But, there are some artifacts that belong to him that survived the fire. It's worth a stop if you're a history buff. But I think the bigger attraction in the area is Monticello.

This is a very quaint museum that provides a lot of interesting information. I’m not a big history guy and I certainly am not familiar with the US presidents (besides George Washington of course), so it was fun to learn a lot about President Monroe.
The place provides optional “history walks” where a guide can take you around the place while talking about significant history. There’s a handful of buildings that you can visit, each with plenty of exhibits in them. Each info plaque has both English and Spanish translations, which is nice. One thing I liked especially is that many of the exhibits contained open-ended questions that provoked your thinking and reflection.
Overall it was a lovely museum and I had a nice time. However, the tickets are a little too pricey ($18) for such a small historical site. Nevertheless it’s a pretty good place to spend an afternoon learning some history.

This is a gem of a small museum, belongings of President James Monroe and lovely presentation by William and Mary of the plantation. Our docent Roy gave a very informative tour both inside the guest house and on the grounds. Give yourself a few hours to really read the information, understand the history and walk the land. A good part is the slave home and understanding of their life there. Both docents knew their history. Inside the guest house are original furnishings belonging to the Monroe’s. The story of how the home burned down but left the 300 year old tree is very good. And very interesting stories about Mrs. Monroe and how she saved Mrs. Lafayette from the French guillotine. Monroe Doctrine fans will enjoy this bit of history and learning about his relationship with his next door neighbor and dear friend Thomas Jefferson.

The “guide” Jeff was a wonderful addition to our self guided tour!! This was a fun 45 min-1 hour activity. Great to pair with going to a vineyard after!

My husband and I were looking for something to do before Monticello. This was a pleasant surprise. There is not a grand mansion to tour but this place is rich in history. We learned a lot about our 5th president. The tour guides were very knowledgeable, they were willing to answer questions and did not make you feel rushed. There is several really well maintained trails that take you off the beaten path. Would highly recommend a visit.

Good tour. Friendly staff. Trails were nice. Beware- the red trail is strenuous! Nice grounds!

I had a great experience visiting Monroe’s Highland! The staff are incredible and very knowledgeable with any type of questions! The property is great as it’s all self guided as the staff is located within the house to ask questions as you wonder around the house! I highly recommend doing checking it out!

The actual house burned down, but the guesthouse (2 rooms) and a few other buildings, including the overseer's cabin, as well as some artifacts, are original. Definitely worth a visit while in the area.

History is great, self paced tour, very informative. The employees were very nice, knowledgeable, and suggested other places to visit. Preferred this over Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. The price was very affordable.

I had a lovely visit to Highland. The property and rustic trails were beautiful as the leaves were just turning. There was a walking tour led by a docent/interpreter, Douglas, that was really terrific. He was kind and knowledgeable, exactly the sort of individual who can take a visit to the next level. My recommendation: definitely go and visit the home of our nation's fifth President!

I recently moved to Cville area and have a bucket list to see presidential homes and plantations.
Visiting James Monroe’s Highlands was absolutely charming. It’s smaller than I anticipated but I still spent a solid 1-2 hours wandering around the grounds and reading the information.
It was a HOT July weekend but I arrived early enough before the crowds and enjoyed the tranquility.
Unlike Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe’s family didn’t have to sell all his belongings so a lot of the items in the home are original pieces that were donated.

The house isn't original, but there is a nice tour and some good history on the life of Monroe.

Carter Mountain Orchard and Country Store offer a beautiful view of Charlottesville with an orchard that allows seasonal fruit picking. The country store and bakery provide specialty food items for visitors to purchase. While some reviews have mentioned paying an entrance fee, this may not always be the case depending on the season. Bags are available for purchase for those who want to pick apples, but strollers and pets are discouraged in these areas.
This is a nice little getaway for a few hours. A Breathtaking view, very nice and friendly atmosphere while wine tasting. We enjoyed sampling the different types of peaches, and trying the famous apple cider donuts, bread pudding, and ice cream. If you would like to sample wine, you can sample flights as there were multiple flight options to choose from, ranging from dry to sweet. You can pick your own peaches, or purchase fresh peaches already picked at the stand. Prices were reasonable on all purchases we made, and overall it was just a great experience, a peaceful afternoon.

We're from Richmond and we've been listening to families raved about Carter Mt for eons. Hiking nearby, we decided to pay a visit for the first time (Nov 1). We were immediately impressed w the vineyards and the groves as we approached the top. And after we got to the barn/general store, we thought the views of Charlottesville from the picnic area were absolutely wonderful. Worth the trip itself! Instead of venturing out to the groves to pick apples, we indulged in a 1/2 doz hot apple donuts & a slice of apple pie ale mode. Tasting like delicate apple fritters, these donuts were absolutely to die for, especially w dabs of vanilla ice cream borrowed from the pie. I had three and could've gone for more. We're very glad we are now numbered among the faithful who made the pilgrimage to Carter Mt. ☺

We had a wonderful time!! Our first time here. We loved the sample of the apples! Nice platform area where you can take pictures. They had plenty of items to buy, nice local items to support the community and farmers. Have some $$ on you bc the prices are a little high. We liked the ice cream. As for the apple cider donut I have had better at another orchard. Everyone was friendly. They let you sample local wines. Great place for the family! We would definitely recommend!

My wife and I recently made our second trip to Carter Mountain Orchard, and it was every bit as delightful as the first. The orchard, which has been nurtured by the Chiles Family for over a century, is a testament to their dedication and hard work. Our experience was filled with the crispness of freshly picked apples, the sweetness of on-the-spot made donuts, and the creaminess of the ice cream. The apple pie we tasted was the perfect blend of crisp and sweet.
Walking away with a bounty of a gallon and a half of apple cider, a bottle of wine, a medium bag of apples, and a dozen donuts, we felt content knowing we had some delicious treats to share with our friends and family.
The orchard itself is a haven of beauty, offering breathtaking views that had us immersed for over 4 hours, splitting our time between apple-picking, indulging in the treats, and simply soaking in the picturesque vistas.
While there's much to praise, it's worth noting that the lines can be quite long and the prices on the higher side. However, given the exceptional quality and freshness of their produce, it's understandable why so many people are drawn to Carter Mountain. The prices are a reflection of the premium quality, and the lines? Well, they're indicative of its popularity.
In conclusion, Carter Mountain Orchard is a gem of a place, steeped in history and tradition, where one can not only relish fresh produce but also create lasting memories. Despite the crowds and costs, it's undeniably worth the visit. We're already looking forward to our next trip!

Absolutely. Stunning. The view from the orchard is amazing, and there are several decks and structures to look over look all of Charlottesville. The Apple donuts are a must purchase. I’ve noticed a lot of folks are saying you have to pay to get in- I didn’t. I went in November and December of 2021. I only had to pay for bags to pick apples or buy the food they offered. Pets are not welcome, and the “orchard” is definitely not stroller territory. The main parts of the park are stroller safe, but if you intend on going to PICK apples, please leave your strollers behind.

We had to buy entry tickets ahead as this is their busy season but just consider it parking fee. The views are beautiful and we had a good time. If you have mobility issues, plan to buy and not pick your own. The walk for the orchard is daunting and steep in places. Lots of buying options and wine shop was cool!

The place was beautiful. We were able to try the cherries they had out and they were amazing. We got an apple and peach pie, turned out amazing. The peaches also amazing. Everyone was very friendly and loved the outdoor spaces. Definitely going to try the apple picking next time.

What a great place! The staff is super nice and the views are stunning. It wasn't that busy on a Thursday afternoon, and the apple donuts are to die for. I also got an apple spice slushy and ghost peppers salsa! There is a bold rock cider bar under the apple farm store, which is really nice.

Great experience at Carter Mountain! We had a great time, the facilities are nice and the view is gorgeous. They are known for their apple cider donuts for good reason. The apples, of course, are excellent. Staff is friendly. Walking on the hill can be challenging at times, and my whole family's shoes got muddy, we will be prepared for that next time.

We were really excited to check orchard out, but we're disappointed to see that we couldn't bring our pup with us. So I let the kids go into the country store to check it out while I hung with the dog in the parking lot and took pictures of the beautiful surroundings. Love where this place is located and would love to fully check it out sometime. But traveling with our dog will make that difficult, it seems.

We bring our kids to experience picking fruit on the field and kids was really happy coming to this place. We came around the peach picking time. The staff told us how to choose the ripe peach from the tree and how to pick the fruit from the tree. After we picked the peach, we went for the donuts, ice cream and smoothies to close the day.

Such a lovely area no matter what time of year! I visited mid winter and they still had plenty of apples a available, although mostly cooking apples rather than the ones you'd eat raw.
Plenty of shopping for apple-based products and other tchotchkes. Fresh apple cider donuts with their wine tasting is one of the best ways to spend your cash while here 😉
Friendly and happy staff, I will definitely be back with friends

I went to the apple orchard to pickup some apples to make apple sauce. It reminded me that we used to go out there on a regular basis with my daughter who is now 48 years old. I'm guessing we've been going out there for close to 50 years. Not sure how long it's been around but it's been around a long time and we've enjoyed it every time we've gone out. Back in the old days, It wasn't nearly as fancy as it is now, but it was still a great family outing. It's worth the effort to go there.

Just a short drive from Charlottesville, you'll find this lovely orchard with a huge country store. Depending on the time/day/season it can get very busy here so expect crowds during peak times. Unfortunately I did not do the pick your own during my visit, but I'm sure you could get a great haul from here.
The store portion has a huge selection of pantry items, decor/gifts, baked goods, and pre-picked items. I loved the variety in apple butters they offered here and the donuts are fantastic! They also offered samples of the apples available so you could try them out before buying. You can get a meal here, drinks, and finish your trip off with ice cream while you sit outside and enjoy the views.
Parking is free but can be a bit tight during busier times. Be mindful of children running around and go slow.

Friendly helpful staff. Be very careful of the wind though, it was very strong when we were there last weekend. Be extra cautious when opening your car door, especially if you park next to someone else.

My wife and I came here for the first time last weekend and for the most part, we enjoyed our experience. The apple picking was fun, the donuts were great, the wine was delicious, and the view was incredible. However, it did kind of dampen our experience when one of the managers (Stephanie maybe?) gave my wife and I a 5 minute lecture about parking before letting us in. It was very rude & unnecessary. The truck at the beginning of the line was completely stopped & talking to the person directing traffic, so cars ahead of us were pulling to the side and parking in the lot right there because they were tired of waiting. We just followed along & went where they were going. (Again, it was our first time here. How are we supposed to know?) So, I hope she pulled aside every other person to lecture them, too. Also, we had to wait 30 minutes just to get a half dozen donuts.. We had a 9am ticket (which is when they open).. you’d think they’d prepare and have donuts available for when people start arriving. Waiting that long for donuts is ridiculous.. it cut into our 3 hour time window we had there, which was not cool. Luckily, my wife and I made the most of things and still had a good time. I will say, it is definitely a cool place to go.

We’ve made the trip to this orchard a few times; picking your own apples is only a part of the experience. They offer plenty of space for kids to run and play while the adults can try some wine or draft Bold Rock Cider - I didn’t know there were so many varieties. The apple cider donuts seem to get better every time too.

Carter Mountain was absolutely beautiful! So much to do there for all ages..apple picking, Bold Rock cider tasting, Carter Mountain wine tasting, shopping, ice cream and small eatery, cornhole, and so much more! It is beautifully designed and laid out very well. The stunning views are just the icing on the cake. Fantastic and beautiful way to spend the day!

My experience at the Colonnade Club has been one of the best on Grounds. It is a very pleasant place, well kept, and with a most genial staff. They are friendly, greet you warmly, and are willing to chat and make you feel at home. I have been at the University for several years, and this has not been the case all the time. In the last year, however, I have seen a tremendous change with the current staff. It has made the Colonnade a place of respite from daily grind where a cup of coffee, a few cookies, and a warm reception by the staff makes my day. My colleagues and I frequently comment on this pleasant turn of events. Keep it up. Your staff make the place what it is!

Pro: Unmistakably a university. Many nice bricks. Has a piece of the Berlin Wall. I am told the libraries work properly.
Con: Seems like it may be controlled by secret societies. No, really, there are too many of them and they leave sinister marks all over campus. No joke here.

Depending on the time you get to the ER if they will be busy or not. I have only been on a few floors and what I can tell the nurses are nice and a few really do care about you and and not just here for a paycheck. I have talked to UVA Security and Millennium Security and both work here are are really helpful.
Charming luxury hotel in a Georgian mansion offering a cinema, an outdoor pool & free breakfast.
This is a hidden gem in Virginia. Just two hours south of Northern Virginia, we booked the cabin and it did not disappoint. The stay greeted us immediately and gave an detailed tour of the property. We brought our seven year old child and inquired if the restaurant had a kids menu. The staff said they did not, but on the spot was able to create a kids menu for dinner, we were impressed. The food was delicious and my kid said the chicken nuggets and French fries were five star quality. We will definitely be staying here more often when looking to take a small vacation. They also took time to make my child feel special during her stay.

My wife and I stayed here a few months back. We had a great experience. The property is beautiful and unique. The breakfast and 3 course dinner are both tasty. The only part I didn't enjoy were the Trump wines, they were light for my taste. The service was phenomenal. The staff seemed to genuinely care that we enjoyed our stay. Josh and Callie were outstanding. Josh gave great bar service and was very knowledgeable about the property. Callie helped us to our room and served us dinner, as well. She was very friendly and bubbly and one of the best servers we've ever had. I would recommend this place to everyone. We plan to stay again.

Great experience here with the expansive property and friendly staff. The place is very homey for being fancy. You feel like you're staying at a family member's home but still receiving top notch service and food. Absolutely zero complaints here, and I'm a pretty critical person.
My wife and I have decided to make this a tradition to stay at this hotel more in the future.

We just spent the weekend at Abermale and it exceeded all our expectations. We had 5 of the 12 rooms and we felt like we were the only ones there. DJ was an amazing host. We ate every breakfast and dinner there and all meals were great. Drink selections great. Ground were gorgeous. We stayed in the William room and it was huge. We spent time at the pool which is also huge with the most gorgeous views. Dying to stay there again. Thanks to all the staff.

The Estate home is stunning and beautiful in every respect. We stayed in the Washington Room. It was larger than most city apartments! The beds were so comfortable, felt like we were sleeping , or floating, on pillows. The entire home was extremely clean and well maintained. Breakfast wonderful. Kudos to hosts Josh and Matt. Class acts.

A must do experience. The staff was knowledgeable about the history(Ethan) and the young ladies whom greeted you and served your every need to make your stay as unforgettable as possible. The chef was amazing. Abby and Addie were the best. I am looking forward to another great stay at Albemarle.

Stayed four nights in the Private Cabin Jan 2020, and my only regret is I could not have stayed longer! The Cabin is luxurious yet simple at the same time to fit in with the ambiance of the Cabin versus the Estate rooms. Being a Jan. Winter stay we kept a roaring firing burning at all times with the unlimited wood supply on the screened porch. The service by every member was spectacular with customer focus and satisfaction being the Estates obvious focus. We never left the Trump Estate other than to go to the Trump Winery across the street for a tasting and a lunch. Never have I stayed at a resort and not had the desire to venture out, but that was certainly the case at Albemarle. We took advantage of the Private movie theater, the outside Jacuzzi and the wonderful massage service onsite. The dining room was so elegant it made breakfast something to look forward to daily. We also did a wine pairing with our meal on Friday night for fun. Even a game of Scrabble in the Billiards Room was relaxing and a treat with the beautiful surroundings. It was a wonderful experience and one I hope to repeat.

My husband and I stayed there last weekend and it was just a wonderful experience. The place was beautiful, clean, luxurious and the service was superb. We were greeted by Callie and Amanda who gave us champagne while they checked us in, helped with luggage and were always there to get anything we needed throughout our stay. Some other guests raved about the dinner they had on the property, they serve on Fri and Sat nights, so we decided to try. The waiters Faraz and Conner were personable and attentive and dinner was very good. We have never seen such a hard working and efficient staff. We look forward to our next visit!
