The park is a huge expanse of protected mountain terrain with a vast network of hiking trails and wildlife. The higher elevation can cause altitude sickness in those not prepared, so it's recommended to spend at least 24-48 hours acclimating before hitting the trails. There are small towns and amazing hikes all around Denver, so find something you're interested in exploring!
This place has views for days! The park rangers are excellent with kids! My daughters became junior rangers by filling out their national park explorer books! They had so much fun! If you see people stopped on the side of the road, look and see if you can see what they see as most people stop for a reason! Will definitely be back!

It's all about mountains!! Breathtaking views and chilly weather almost throughout the year. We experienced snowfall in May last week. Plan your trip ahead and make sure the weather is comfortable to you. Do visit the bear lake and the scenic drive to the top. Watch out for the animals and wildlife.

Love it! Very beautiful sights to see went during the last week of May entering June, there was still snow at the peak of the mountains which was just beautiful! It is a bit cold once your at the peak of the mountain so remember to bring a jacket! Other than that I highly recommend this place to visit when going to Colorado!

We only touched the edges! However, the views were stunning. Fellow hikers were polite and friendly. SO glad we went (I am not a hiker), it was most pleasant with birds, chipmunks, squirrels and deer. It was early August. However, the temps were nice and plenty of shade. Estes Park was beautiful!

Gorgeous park with gorgeous hiking trails. We really got lucky with good weather and smaller crowds when we came in July. Not too much wildlife during the day, but drive slowly in the dark as there are often elk around.

This national park is absolutely stunning! There are so many different epic views throughout the park. If you get lucky you might see some cool animals. We saw many beautiful trees and lakes. I do recommend to find out about the opening hours before you drive up to the park so you won't have to wait in your car for a while.
Also, bring food and water with you, they don't really have anywhere to buy anything once you enter. Go as early as you can.
All in all, it was a great experience.

By far this is one of the best National Parks I have ever explored. The scenic drive is breathtaking! You will see plenty of trails and historic markers throughout this park so make sure to stop and read some and hike some of these beautiful trails. We set up camp in Moraine campground and glad we did. Waking up to the stunning views of the mountains and wildlife was so worth it. This National Park is a MUST!

Yes you should go.
The expanse of it alone is spectacular.
Couple this with inclement weather throughout (late May with some cold at high altitude and some snow) with good trails and road trips and you'll have a good time.
Good signposted viewpoints dotted throughout. Easy drive.
Bear lake area interesting and manageable for most.
Good chance to see wildlife

The Colorado Rocky Mountain trails offer breathtaking vistas, ranging from lush forests to rugged peaks. With trails suitable for all skill levels, hikers can explore alpine lakes, wildflower meadows, and stunning overlooks. The Continental Divide Trail and Colorado Trail are iconic choices, each providing a unique outdoor experience amidst the region's natural beauty.

Breathtaking NP. We visited right after the snowstorm so conditions were a bit rough, however the views were amazing - everything covered in snow. The park has a good sign system, routes are well marked and trails are maintained in great conditions. Big yes!

Fabulous drive on I-70 through the Rocky Mountains. You can ski, hike, camp, fish, to name a few sports. Or just enjoy the spectacular views. I cannot say enough about this National Forest a definite must do if in Colorado. It's so beautiful in winter.

Heaven on earth! I lived in the Denver area for 4 and a half years. Most of that time was during the pandemic, so many of the things to do in the area was closed. Thankfully, the park was not. It provided solitude and peace. Bear Lake is my favorite lake there. It’s handicap accessible, which is a great blessing for people who have mobility challenges, as are many of the lakes and paths around them. I’m so thankful for the preservation of this national treasure. Every time I visited, which was at least every few months during the spring to fall and as soon as the roads were clear to go, I was always in awe! Please remember to drive slowly because of the wildlife. Please keep all trash with you until you can find a trash receptacle or take it out of the park with you. I felt closer to my Creator there at the park than in any building! So grateful for my time there!

Visited Late June 2021. One of my top 3 favorite national parks. Alpine Meadows, Aspen Forests, Scenic Lakes. Elk, Bear and Squirrels are also a common sight. I loved this park, just make sure to come early to avoid the crowds.
Michael Wisker — Google review
Bear Creek was beautiful. We did the hike to Nymph lake. It was gorgeous. The walk there is all uphill. There are lots of big boulders to sit on and rest along the way. The trail around the lake was nice to do as well. We saw some deer and some little chipmunk like animals too. Overall in the park we saw several elk at maybe four different locations. The park is absolutely beautiful. Driving up to the Alpine region gives you a completely different experience. I really do not like those restrooms that are not hard plumbed, oh well maybe someday the park will upgrade. That is the only negative thing I can say. I strongly strongly recommend this park. You do have to make reservations for different things so please take care to do that on the website.

Majestic views, winding mountain roads, and awesome photos of wildlife! We got all that during our visit. Be aware that if you want to enter the park, they have a timed entry system that you should sign up for in advance. We chose to enter at Fall River and do the steep, winding, dirt road after 2pm. A local guide said the road would take about 2-3 hours. We must have stopped for more wildlife photos than she does because we were above treeline for about 1.5-2 hours! The drive itself took us about 5 hours (yes, we're prairie folk). It was simply so stunningly beautiful that anything less would require ignoring nature's majesty. Be mindful of the altitude! Pack food & water! Pick up after yourself & your pets! Enjoy the views & the journey!

If you’re near Denver this trip takes about 1 hour 45 min in the winter. There was a $30 entry fee for the car. As soon as we passed the gates we saw a heard of elk in the field next to us. This park has very nice paved roads and trails. The views are beyond stunning, I’ve never seen anything like it. Everything is so massive.

Amidst the winter's icy grip, we ventured forth,
To Rocky Mountains, south to north.
Six feet of snow, a blizzard's fierce blow,
Yet undeterred, we tread where few would go.
Dream Lake beckoned, a vision surreal,
Frozen rivers and lakes beneath our heel.
With boots and gear, we forged ahead,
Amidst the frozen wonders where dreams are fed.
Snowshoes adorned, sticks in hand,
We embarked on Loch Vale, a journey grand.
Nine miles of trail, through snow and storm,
Like characters from legend, our spirits warm.
Through ravines and cliffs, we made our way,
A fellowship united, come what may.
No footprints to guide us, we blazed our own trail,
Pushing our limits, we could not fail.
At journey's end, a frozen lake loomed,
Amidst the fog, our courage consumed.
Yet in that moment, amidst the storm's embrace,
We found solace and peace, in nature's grace.
The Rocky Mountains Park, a memory made,
In the heart of winter, where dreams cascade.
Through snow and storm, we ventured forth,
To find our place, in the park's timeless north.

We were staying right in Denver and we drove here for a day trip. We stopped at silver trailheads and did some hiking. The scenery was absolutely stunning. We saw some birds but that's the only animals we really saw. But anyway and walking out into the scenery like this was very calming. We did have two people that have the senior passes so they got us all in to the park. It was in the beginning of March so it was on the chillier side so we did dress appropriately. We all had hiking boots

Wonderful national park that maintains itself well, and has the traffic and resources to do so. Portions are closed for safety reasons for half the year as the snow is real, but the available places are wonderful, especially February through April. You have to have a pass, from the online registration during the summer months from about May through September, as they only allow so many people in at a time, so it's not overrun with folks.
I like the management. It does make it more difficult to be spontaneous about coming, but I figure it's good management of resources so that there isn't strain on the local wildlife, terrain, and resources.
It's a beautiful park, with hundreds of hiking trails, a snow play area, amazing vistas, and river plains with plenty of elk, deer, moose, and even the occasional bear. Lots of interesting waterways in the spring thaw, and snow snow snow to go with all the gorgeous rocks. There are plenty of pit toilets by all the trailheads, water at the guest centers, and lots of rangers who are cheerfully willing to talk you through a planned hike if you'd like the guidance. DO take advantage of the advice, especially if you plan to go backrange and please get the appropriate passes and ALWAYS carry water at this altitude. And there's a lot of lightening in the afternoons in the summer... so... yeah.
Love this place and we come back to it often enough to have an annual pass.

Beautiful scenery. We went without snow shoes or spikes around bear lake and to nymph lake and it was a bit slippery but definitely doable. We enjoyed the beautiful snow and sunshine

Never get tired of the beauty this place has. Love coming here. We always get the 7 day pass (it's just $5 more than 1 day pass). We always stop at the visitor center before the entrance to ask questions (find out what roads are closed etc) Ask for a map it is free.
Make sure to get your pass online. There some months in which you have to get a timed reservation to get in (so check website before you go)

I was here at the end of March for 2 days. I’m from Texas and I’ve never seen so much snow in my life!! It was so amazing to be able to hike through the trees and see everything so white and beautiful.
I used AllTrails but the trails in the app are based off non-snow conditions. In the winter you basically just follow the paths that have been cleared.
Special shout out to Ranger Amy Fink, who helped me when my vehicle slid on the ice and got stuck! She was so kind and helpful!

The park is gorgeous. It's located about an hour and a half from Denver. The mountains are rugged and beautiful, particularly the snow caps. The roads are good with plenty of scenic overlooks. Wildlife is abundant. The mule deer aren't skittish at all. Estes Park is neat little town on the edge of the park.

Bryce Canyon National Park is home to towering spires, also known as hoodoos, and a natural amphitheater. Visitors can enjoy scenic overlooks and hiking trails that offer stunning views of the landscape. For those looking for a stress-free departure, it's recommended to leave early and head back to Salt Lake City via I-15 which takes approximately four hours.
My experience with this place was very positive. Such breathtaking views from mile 1 to all the way to the top of Rainbow Point. It isn't that long of a drive but there are spots to hike, camp, and go horseback riding.
Overall, this park is beautiful!

Wow!! Each National Park I visit “one-ups” the last. Badlands, Glacier, and now Bryce to finish the week. Definitely didn’t disappoint. Expansive vistas, great trails, and helpful staff.
The shuttle bus is THE way to travel in order to have a stress free visit. Parking is limited at the popular vistas/look out points and longer distance hikers may not rotate out of spots to quickly.
I arrived at about 3pm and still had plenty of time to make my way from point to point for great views and some awesome pics. Walked the Rim Trail 2x. Different view with each change of the light.
Gets busy at sunset with those seeking last minute pics. 30 minutes after dark it was a convoy departing. 30-45 minutes later and it was like the park was mine.
Spent the night and got 3 shots as the sun n came up over the valley.

Title: A Breathtaking Adventure at Bryce Canyon
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bryce Canyon National Park, and it was an experience beyond words. The sheer beauty of the scenery took my breath away. The majestic hoodoos and vibrant colors of the canyon walls painted a surreal landscape that felt like stepping into another world.
The hiking trails were nothing short of awe-inspiring. Each step revealed a new vista, a fresh perspective on the natural wonder before me. The diversity of trails catered to all levels of hikers, allowing me to explore at my own pace. Whether it was the challenging switchbacks of Navajo Loop or the leisurely stroll along the Rim Trail, every path offered its own unique magic.
The connection with nature was palpable, and the serenity of the surroundings was both humbling and invigorating. The cool breeze, the rustling leaves, and the distant calls of wildlife created a symphony that added to the overall experience.
The memories made at Bryce Canyon will forever hold a special place in my heart. It's a place where time stands still, allowing you to soak in the grandeur of nature. I left with a renewed sense of wonder and gratitude for the beauty that our planet holds.
If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend visiting Bryce Canyon National Park. It's a true testament to the marvels of the natural world, and an adventure that will stay with you long after you leave.

The wonders of nature! This is a beautiful place to visit if you are ever in southern Utah. From the vast openness to amazing rock formations. Plenty of trails to hike and places to take photos. But definitely watch out for the wildlife while driving, had a deer shoot out in front of my motorcycle. Roads are twisty and make for a great ride. Add this place to your next trip and you won't be disappointed! I plan to visit here often.

Amazing views of the canyons and hoodoos on the trails. It's great that you can hike to see different perspectives of the canyons at different angles to give you that sense of awe.
We hiked from the Sunrise Point to Sunset Point (loop) and the views were spectacular. Since it was mid-March, there is still snow present so you'll be sloshing around in mud (like red clay).

Great park! If you only have time for one quick stop you must go to Bryce's point! I recommend you drive the entire road and stop at all the view points. They are all SO different! The Queens garden hike was very cool and not too long.
Jason Knepp — Google review
Plan to stop along the road edge to look at the views. There are many great lunch picnic areas and campgrounds along the way.
Hiking is great and you will benefit from a pair of walking sticks. The right hiking shoes are crucial. A 360 camera is best to capture and absorb the amazing landscape. Otherwise a panoramic setting will serve you well here.
Vincent Jackson — Google review
One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Sunrise point and inspiration points were our favorite places. They have both paved and unpaved access to the canyons and we were able to get some amazing views for photos. The park is an easy to drive layout and plenty of bathrooms throughout. Such a peaceful location!

This park is absolutely stunning!! As beautiful as Zion but totally different look. The scenic drive is well worth it!! We started from the “end” and worked our way back to the entrance- stopping at all the pull off areas and scenic lookouts. Hiked part of the Queens Garden Trail- one of the “shorter and easier” hikes at Bryce. The hoodoos are unreal and the views are breathtaking. 10/10

The view and scenery was breathtaking. We were there before the sunset so the color of the mountains are beautiful with the snow on top of it. It is like no other place on earth! The hoodoos and natural bridges are awesome! The colors are other worldly and, when there is snow, it adds a texture and layer to the complexity of the landscape. I have been wanting to go since I was young and it definitely lived up to my expectations. This was amazing! We visited in early April and there was a lot of snow. The lower half of the park was still closed for winter. The amphitheater was amazing! So awesome at the diversity of geology around this area. We will visit again so we can see the rest of the park.

Underrated park. Beautiful out of space scenery. Easy access to viewpoints without much hiking. Saw Sunrise and Sunset Point as well as Inspiration Point which was our favorite. Great to stop by on the way to Zion, Grand Canyon or Arches National Park.

This is one of the most beautiful and iconic places in the southwestern and western United States. If you are in southern Utah this is a stop you should make. The hoodoos in Bryce Canyon are amazing. Amazing because of the amount, the size, and the coloring. From white, to yellow, to orange and red the colors are vibrant and mesmerizing. There are several walks and hikes along the rim of the canyon and down into the canyon. They range from easy walks, to moderate hikes down part way into the canyon, to multi day treks. Even a one to two hour drive into the national park will reward you with vistas that you will never forget.

Make sure have the National park pass to be able to pass quickly and no extra fee. It was very nice and unique shaped rocks. The weather was not too hot when you go early morning. Make sure to have plenty of water with you. You can go hiking to the down if the canyon which is cold and nice but you need to be ready because it is challenging. At 11am it was a historic meeting at the top of the canyon and it was very informative. There are bus stations if you do not want to walk around or you got tired from walking. Restrooms are okay but busy.

What a beautiful national park it is! We stayed at Ruby’s inn and next morning started early to do the hiking sunrise to sunset to Navajo loop trail. It was breathtaking! We covered the whole park with lookout points and did trail in 6 hrs and enjoyed every minute of it. Trail is highly recommended to go inside hoodoos and see it from close. The color of the hoodoos is breathtaking. We decided to go one week before Christmas and started early to avoid crowds and heat! It was perfect!! We also saw some deers. Highly recommend this place!!

Been hiking for all my life but this was one of the most beautiful views ever while having a short walk. We hiked down next to Thor’s hammer, crossed the sunset point and headed on to queens garden. I didn’t expect the color of the canyon to be that intense, so it was a nice surprise to pass all the orange rocks. Since the canyon is located on high altitude, there was some snow and therefor it can be a bit muddy from time to time. Hoping you enjoy the views as much as I did :)

Such a unique and cool experience!!!! We had the best time going to all of the viewing points and seeing the canyon and hoodoos from all aspects! We really enjoyed mossy cave and getting to hike up to the “windows” formed in the rocks and playing in the creek. Genuinely incredible national park, some of the most unique structures I've ever seen. The scenic drive is packed with amazing lookouts each showing a different angle with completely different landscapes. The drive also features amazing hikes, many of which are incredibly easy. Watch out for the winter season as many attractions are closed during it. Although the snow is very pretty on the formations during springtime.

I went twice today and was bowled over and totally awestruck both times!
First, hopped on and off the shuttle to visit the 4 amphitheater points.
Second, in the evening, to walk the Navajo Trail alone.
This wonder of nature is absolutely humbling.
I felt so fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit it! 💜🖖

There should be a multiplier for national parks. Five Stars is not enough!
We visited in the winter to avoid some of the crowds. But we didn't realize that the week of Christmas is VERY POPULAR! It was very hard to find a parking space and the shuttle does not run in the winter.
But we managed!
If you do not want to do any hikes, you can see this park in one day easily. But you would be missing out on some awesome views that are only available by hitting a trail!
There is one road in and it dead ends. So you could simply view the canyon from the stops.
We spent several hours just walking along the rim and then did a hike from Sunrise Point to Sunset Point on another day.
Absolutely beautiful park! The hikes would be extremely hot in the summer as there is not much shade available.

Zion National Park is a stunningly beautiful desert park situated in southern Utah, featuring hikes and attractions ranging from canyoneering to family-friendly trails. In addition to its natural beauty, the park is home to one of the world's largest open-air amphitheaters – an awe-inspiring spot for concerts and other events.
It is difficult to describe the natural beauty of Zion National Park in words or pictures. There are so many scenic points all over the park. Some of my favourites were Lower Emerald and Higher Emerald pool. There is almost a couple of hours of hike from the base camp. It is a big park to cover in one day but you can take the bus from the base camp to quickly visit most important scenic points around the park. I visited the park in June, it was around 80F. There was lots of water in the river passing through the park. You should enjoy the beautiful sounds of the running water :) I planned my trip by staying the night in St. George, UT which is one hour drive from the park. I left the hotel at 7:00 AM and reached the park around 8:00 AM via UT-9. It is good not to drive in the evening or night because you can cover scenic UT-9 in the morning. My next destination was Grand Canyon National Park, so I left the park around 3:00 PM so that I could reach Flagstaff, AZ before the night. Doing this, I covered UT-9 all during the day time. UT-9 is a very beautiful scenic drive which you should not miss. Do have the following with you,
- Sun block
- Sun glasses
- Stick for hiking
- Lots of water

Amazing experience, gorgeous trails! Highly recommend to visit but maybe not during the summer or early fall months because it can be really really hot.
Also, highly recommend to start the day as early as possible if you want to get a parking spot at the visitors center. The spots get completely full after ~7.30am. The shuttle is very convenient, no reservations needed. Only need a reservation if you are trying to do Angels landing.

Do not forget to get National parks pass if you are going to Utah and different parks. It will be so much easy to check in and no extra money. You need to leave your car at the parking lot and get in the bus for the other stations. Do not try to drive because it will be blocked. Hop on the bus and enjoy your view. You can get off any station and walk around. Last bus was 7:50pm for us and we had to go back. Visited center is very crowded and you might wait in the line for 10 min. Restrooms are clean but so busy. Make sure you go to the narrows it is beautiful and very challenging. You can swim in the water but it is cold.

In awe with nature's beauty. Love how there are different levels of hiking trails. We were able to do hiking with a baby in our group and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The Narrows trail is a nice walk for all. The only downside of the Narrows was that the bathrooms were not available. Wish we had more days to explore more of Zion National Park.

We visited in 1st week of may,It was busy but beauty amazed us. Had to say this park is magnificent in all the terms. Mountains look spectacular during sun set time.
-We did Narrows,it wasn’t too deep but, at few places water is higher than your waist. It was bit cloudy that day.
-We did the Angels landing, after about 2-2.5miles the trail is only accessible by the chain which is very narrow and slippery and also you need special permission to access that.
-Emerald pools trail (upper, lower, middle) are the great start for the day. They are quick simple and amazing.

The magnificent view of Zion will mesmerize everyone. The shuttle operates within the park is great. Without any problem one can go to important view points by the shuttle.
The weeping rock is unique. Thousands of years Rocky mountain is of a great geological importance.
Thousands of people visit this Park.
Wish to visit again whenever I get to USA.

This is one of my favorite national parks I’ve been too. So much to do and see. The views are amazing and breathtaking. Every year we come back to Zion National Park we have another hike we do.
Every year things change a little because of the run off. Rock formations are altered or moved. Everything is always changing here.
Everyone things it’s always going to be super hot in the park. There is plenty of shade everywhere and the further you get into the canyon the cooler it gets. So it’s actually really enjoyable even on hot days and I’m from Alaska.
My children always have a blast here. They love playing on the rocks and jumping around. The water hikes help keep them cool and going.

One of the best parks in the United States! Highly recommend getting in before 8am to reduce crowds/ easy parking/ less heat etc. Strenuous hikes truly are challenging so be prepared with water and sufficient time. Nice part about this park is that done if the trails are in the shade to give you a break from the sun.

We loved this park. We were able to fit through the bridge with no problem with our class b camper van. We're just under 11 feet. The drives are gorgeous, and the shuttle is really easy to use. There are so many good hikes. Angel's Landing was a lot of fun and you have to sign up for passes using the lottery application the day before. We wanted to hike the narrows, but didn't have enough time.

Second visit, first time was years ago, but knew we wanted to visit again and spend more time. We did and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely a bucket list. Place people who enjoy beautiful scenery and being able to do some hiking if they like.

Zion National Park is a breathtaking natural wonder that leaves you in awe from the moment you arrive. The towering red rock formations, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant plant life create a landscape that's both rugged and stunningly beautiful.
One of the highlights of Zion is the iconic Angel's Landing hike. It's a challenging trek that rewards you with panoramic views of the entire canyon. The adrenaline rush of navigating narrow paths and steep drop-offs is balanced by the sense of accomplishment at reaching the summit.
For a more leisurely experience, the Riverside Walk is a serene trail along the Virgin River. It's perfect for all ages and offers glimpses of hanging gardens and wildlife along the way.
The park's shuttle system is well-organized and eco-friendly, making it easy to explore different areas without worrying about parking. Be sure to catch the sunrise or sunset, as the play of light on the rock formations is simply magical.
Overall, Zion National Park is a must-visit for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Its rugged beauty and diverse trails make it a gem of the American Southwest.

We came late January, it was not too busy and absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed stunning drives with our little ones and a couple easier hikes. The drive repeats Bryce Canyon through the tunnel was incredible and definitely something that should be on everyone's list. Absolutely gorgeous park and such a wonderful time to visit for full access.

The benefit of coming off-season is being able to drive the scenic canyon road in your own car without relying on the shuttle. The canyon is absolutely beautiful and very majestic. Looking forward to coming back when the weather allows for better hiking conditions.

Beautiful park. We were in St George for the weekend and decided to go through the Zion National Park. So glad we did. Absolutely beautiful. Amazing sights. Unforgettable experience. It's not very long of a drive through. You get to drive through a couple tunnels that are literally through the gigantic rock mountains which is pretty amazing and see the most beautiful views. Very happy to have experienced this.

Very beautiful park, we visited it on the end of August. We covered almost all the hiking trails there , enjoying the views at different times of the day and under different lighting conditions. We will definitely come back again.

It is really well run and organized. Map was extremely helpful on which trails to hike. Trams were readily available. Something for all levels. Basic nature hikes to skilled rock climbing. A postcard everywhere you look!

Absolutely fabulous! We went in November and had a great time. The days are shorter and a bit cool, but it was not crowded except at the visitor center. I could actually be alone on most trails once past the trailhead.
Two days wasn’t enough to see everything and I will try to get back.

No words to describe. Small National Park with stunning views at every location. Many hikes turns out to give the best view here. Visiting mid feb and crowd turned out to be huge. I recommend to enter early in the park between 8-10 am. Also nearby towns have amazing cabins and bungalows to stay at budget prices.

Too many people everywhere!!! Long lines to board shuttle buses. A ton of people on the trails. Hard to experience and appreciate the natural surroundings.
Thought the idea of permits for some hikes good idea but doesn't really help since everyone can hike a large portion of hike before getting to permitted area (The Narrows and Angels Landing). And then no one is checking for permits anyways. I think they need permits INTO THE PARK so that one can enjoy what the park has to offer instead of waiting in lines.
Shuttle busses is a good idea else you would be stuck in your car on the road up to the trails or driving around all day for a parking spot but the system has room for improvement.
We hiked Riverside walk. That was a very easy hike along the river on a paved path which ends where The Narrows begins.
We then hiked up to Scout's Landing (one in our party went all the way up Angels Landing). The hike up to Angels Landing is not for the faint of heart and challenging at times. Take your time and bring walking poles - great asset.
Yes! The park is beautiful but it really wasn't enjoyed as much as it should have been due to all the people.

Words and pictures cannot do this park justice.
We did a drive through and pulling off at some of the look outs to take more pictures and explore.
You could spend hours here and never see it all.
There are many trails available for all skill and athletic abilities.
A must if in the area. We are going back again this week to tackle some trails.

Beautiful park with grand rock formations scattering the landscape from even before you enter. Amazing shuttle system with a detailed provided map and vast amounts of hiking opportunities. Springdale is an amazing town to stay in and features incredible views from the hotels and lodges. Not too far from Bryce Canyon, so I would visit that as well.

One of the most beautiful places in the world! Whatever the season it’s stunning. Summers are very busy so arrive early to beat crowds. There are two ways to do the park - the scenic drive (accessible by private car during down times but closed if it gets busy, shuttle bus during peak times). This scenic drive is around the bottom of the canyon and leads to the famous hikes like the Narrows. There is also another road, mount Carmel highway, that is open all year round to private vehicles and winds up the canyon. Plenty of pull offs to take pics. If you’re not super mobile you can simply drive to pull offs and take pics and you’ll get an amazing experience. A nice moderate short hike is on this last road and it’s called Canyon Overlook Trail, parking just after you drive the tunnel- one mile, mostly ropes but a little un-even. Parking is adjacent but often you may have to park further up and walk down. The hike provides stunning views and is well worth it. For the serious hikers and daredevils there is angels landing or the narrows - these take planning and the landing is on a lottery system now so you will need to get a pass in advance. Whether you have half a day or a week you’ll never run out of amazing experiences to have at Zion.

Beautiful, surreal, captivating views. Just an amazing place that has to be seen to be believed. Amazing trails for all skill levels. Get there early for the poplar spots as parking is limited. You can park at the visitor center and take the shuttle throughout the park, which is convenient.

Just wow. Absolutely breathtaking national Park. The hiking is to die for and the place seems to be run like a pretty well oiled machine. You must take the shuttles to get to your destination so in peak season like now it was quite a long wait but at least they have lots of shuttles. Best to take a shuttle in as parking is pretty limited. The park is fairly easy to explore as you can really only launch from a shuttle point but the hiking is extensive and glorious. Saw lots of wildlife and the views are just amazing. Only downside is that the park was packed and it's kinda hard to really feel alone ever or like your on a hike in the wilderness.
mordy kramer — Google review
We recently stayed on the Park for a couple of nights. The shuttles are pretty crowded, staying at the Lodge gives you guaranteed parking and easier access to almost all of the hikes you may want to complete. The on-site restaurants are what you would expect from Xanterra, it’s not gourmet, but you don’t have to go through the overcrowded gates to the town. I would not recommend a visit unless you have reservations at the lodge.
Dawson Rouse — Google review
I was only here for a day, but it’s absolutely stunning. There are an overwhelming number of different hikes for all levels, you can rent bikes, or you can just ride the shuttle and take it all in. Truly an amazing place to be.
I was here at the beginning of March. It was cold and windy but a great time to be here for smaller crowds.
Steph West — Google review
This was my second visit and I liked the park even more than last time. I visited in February so it was not super crowded and the shuttles were not operating. I stayed at the Watchmen campground and I liked it, except for the lack of showers. I reserved two nights, both relatively last minute. I toured the park almost all day and went through from end to end twice. First stop was the Narrows parking lot as it fills up fast. For most of the day I stopped at roadside pullouts and that worked well most of the time. I had trouble parking at the Lodge for lunch so I had to do a little hike. The restaurant was very nice. It's kind of weird being at the bottom of the canyon instead of the top, but it's a nice change. Photography is a little challenging as the light at both ends of the day is very obstructed by the canyon so there are dark shadows everywhere. The stargazing was very good.

44% as popular as Denver
36 minutes off the main route, 85% of way to Las Vegas
Best stops along Rapid City to Las Vegas drive
The top stops along the way from Rapid City to Las Vegas (with short detours) are Custer State Park, Denver Botanic Gardens, and Trail Ridge Rd. Other popular stops include Devils Tower National Monument, Pearl Street Mall, and Wildlife Loop Rd.
Spearfish, located in Lawrence County, South Dakota, is a vibrant city with a population of over 12,000 people. It's the largest city in its county and home to Black Hills State University. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, offering excellent fly-fishing opportunities along Spearfish Creek.
Custer State Park is a vast natural area with beautiful landscapes, hiking trails and accommodations surrounded by diverse flora & fauna. It is located near Mount Rushmore and is known for its stunning mountain drives, peaceful lakeside retreats, and incredible wildlife viewing opportunities comparable to Yellowstone National Park. Although there's an entry fee to access the park, it's definitely worth the cost. Custer State Park offers visitors an unforgettable experience of nature at its finest in the Black Hills region.
Custer State Park is AMAZING. Even though it’s not a national park it is very much worth all the time you can give it. The wildlife loop is a must do, along with stopping at all the scenic overlooks. The Needles highway is breathtaking too. We saw a ton of bison, along with some burros and a pronghorn. The landscape and wildlife are great.
Benjamin Carpenter — Google review
$20 is fair admission for how much there is to see here, and is good for a whole week. I took the wildlife loop twice so the number of cars and people dwindled down. There were more bison in one place than I've ever seen (remember to not get out of your vehicle - they are dangerous, even when just grazing). A lot of people brought carrots and fruits to feed the burros. There are a bunch of pull-outs so you can stop for photos. The lakes are breathtaking but lots of people. If you like the water, consider staying at the lodges. The overlooks are beautiful. There's a good amount of signage. Park rangers do patrol in case you need help. Needles Highway requires patience. Read your maps so you know if your vehicle can make it through. I've visited Sylvan Lake before so I skipped it this time and went to Legion Lake instead. The Bison Center is finally open and, though small, packed with information and people willing and able to answer your questions. Please come and learn why conservation for the wildlife here is so important.

We loved this Park! Hadn't heard much about it but thoroughly enjoyed all the wildlife, breath taking views of the landscape and the pigtail, scenic drives. We saw herds of Buffalo, wild burros, pronghorn, deer, turkeys, rabbits, and prairie dogs all in the span of a few hours.

You are going to enjoy the beautiful view, take a couple of days here for there is a lot to see. My favorite was kayaking. I could stay there for hours. Get there early to get a stop or go later in the day. The park is open 24/7. You have to pay to get in but the pad is $20 for 7 days. There is wildlife in the area so don’t go near or feed the buffaloes. Don’t forget to go downtown and take with the painted buffaloes. Super cool.

Take the wildlife loop and the needles highway/Sylvan lake route! If you take the loop, there are tons of bison on the east side of the halfway point. Then the needles highway loop is beautiful with some challenging hikes. The cathedral spires trail looks simple but is no joke. Bring water and be prepared to climb. You're on the honor system to purchase a week or annual pass at one of the automated kiosks.

A must see! The wildlife alone makes it worth the drive and minimal cost, but the views are just chefs kiss! We saw over 100 bison and babies, dozens of pronghorn, elk, prairie dogs, donkeys and big horn sheep. Simply amazing!

This place is breathtaking. You're going to need plenty of space in your device for pictures. You're also going to need plenty of time to drive. There are several places along the highways to pull off safely for pictures. Go South for the Wildlife Loop, or go North for the Eye of the Needle. Personally, the Needle was my favorite. There are also plenty of lodges with dining available. However, they were all closed for the winter season during our trip.

Custer State Park is hands down the greatest state park in the United States. For my money, it has more attractions than some of the national parks. In the south, do not miss the Wildlife Scenic Road to view the largest bison herd outside of Yellowstone. Along the road you may spot wild turkeys, pronghorn and elk. In the fall, try to visit during the bison roundup, that is quite a site to see. In the northern part of the park be sure to drive the spectacular Needles Highway. From Sylvan Lake you can hike one the incredible trails to the best area in the Black Hills and South Dakota. Cathedral Spires, Sylvan Lake Trail, Sunday Gulch and Little Devil's Tower are incredible hikes to see. This park is worth 2-3 days for a more extensive visit. The campgrounds in the park are also very nice for being close to the sites of the park. The Needles Highway is closed during the winter so check conditions.

We stayed at the Blue Bell camping cabins the last week in June 2023. These cabins are AMAZING! We normally tent camp, but for an extra $10 a night, this was money well spent! Our week was wonderful! Weather could have been a little more cooperative, but hey can’t predict that! Extra shoutout to our camping hosts Mark & Kathy!! They were so awesome & patient with us on our last day!! These cabins would easily sleep a family of 4! I would highly recommend Custer State Park! The beauty & the wildlife, can’t be put into words!! I have NEVER stayed at a park that was kept this clean! Even the pit toilets were very clean! South Dakota, Mt Rushmore, Crazy House & the Badlands are must sees!! Every employee that we came in contact with were friendly, helpful & just a joy! Again highly recommended!!! 10 Stars!!

We went in May and had a great turnout for our first road trip and camping with our dog. The views were beyond amazing. Campsite staff were great and bathroom were always clean. Stores had nice merch and necessity selection. We hiked trail 9 up to Black Elk Peak and down. We did Lover’s Leap. We took trail 9 up to Black Elk Peak, but took trail 4 down the second time. Needles Highway, Iron Mt Road, and the Wildlife Loop Road are all worth the time. If no animals, at least a mostly peaceful drive, if not too busy. We had 3 full days, but I recommend more!

Breathtaking! I recommend stopping at the visitor center first to watch the short video and talk to the staff. It was snowing when I visited so the gentleman was helpful in knowing what roads were closed due to weather and where the best place to see the wildlife were. I drove the wildlife loop road in the morning and ended up coming back in the evening to do it again. I can’t wait to visit again during the season to take advantage of what I missed!

Best state park I've ever been too. I can't believe this doesn't have 5 stars. The hikes are phenomenal and the terrain is so diverse. Even if you aren't into hiking there's a lake, scenic drives, plenty of visitor centers, easy walks, and a huge nature loop where you can see hundreds of bison. If you want to see some cool bison up close, this is the place to go. They are impressive. Depending on what direction you take into the park, the road can be very windy. There is a fee, so be prepared to pay. The visitor center is sort of helpful although the park ranger gave us wronng directions to the bison and set us back about a half hour.

We loved Iron mountain road into Custer, Needles highway was also great. We saw lots of wildlife; bison, big horn, mountain goats and wild turkeys. Sylvan Lake was awesome, we're headed back tomorrow, pictures don't do it justice.
Wildlife Loop Road is a state park route stretching for 18 miles over undulating prairie grasslands and blooming wildflowers. Visitors can spot bison, deer, and elk while enjoying the scenic drive. The road winds its way through the natural landscape without any modern distractions or obstructions. This makes it an ideal destination for nature lovers who want to experience the beauty of the great outdoors up close and personal without disturbing wildlife in their natural habitats.
Sylvan Lake is an ideal location for outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, hiking, picnicking and rock climbing on the large outcroppings. It offers walking paths and stunning views that make it a highly recommended place to visit. The park entrance fee is $20, but the gift shop prices are overpriced. Interestingly, Sylvan Lake was featured in a movie called National Treasure 2 where one can find the rock they filmed on.
We just happened upon this lake while driving through the Black Hills to another destination. We stopped, in awe of the view and spent a good amount of time there. We actually went to 2 lakes and I can't remember which pictures are from which but they were both in the same general area... Not too far apart. As you will see in my pictures, it was a little chilly out there that morning in mid July 2015. You'll also see a picture of my brothers in law reading a note that we found in a bottle that was floating on the lake. The bottle also contained $5!!! 😀

Hard to beat Sylvan Lake when exploring Custer State Park in the Black Hills. Sylvan Lake was created when Theodore Reder built a dam across Sunday Gulch Creek in 1882 and offers wonderful picnic areas, rock climbing, small boat rental, and beautiful rocky vistas. Beautiful place! The entrance fee is $10 per car that you can use for 7 days. If you have any of the National passes they don’t apply here. The visitor center seems a bit empty and the bathrooms were somewhat dirty when I was there later in the day- in the evening. I think they were having trouble with the bathrooms because there was water by the bathroom door and the smell was unpleasant. The parking was okay as far as cars since it was a bit rainy one day I was there. You can do a hike around the lake which is gorgeous. You can climb the huge rocks on the water too. Went another day with better weather and the parking lot was full. There’s other trials you can do/ including Black Elk Peek.

Pretty lake with hiking trails. The trail around the lake gets confusing when you get to a crossroads with another trail. You have to climb up a lot of rock steps, and once on the top, there's hardly any indication of where to go. I climbed back down and back up, and I finally saw a hint of blue paint on a rock. I followed that and did a little rock climbing and found where the trail continues. Definitely needs a new sign at the top of the rocks. It was frustrating trying to figure out where to go and carrying my dog down and back up the steps. The store was closed for the season.

The Crazy Horse Memorial, located on Highway 385, is an expansive mountain carving and museum complex. The sculpture was started in 1948 by Korczak Ziolkowski, with his children continuing the work today. While still unfinished, visitors can explore the Welcome Center and Native American Museum of North America. Additionally, there is a Cultural Center and sculptor's workshop to visit, as well as opportunities to purchase native artwork and crafts during the summer months.
I'm so glad we stopped here. The monument itself is impressive in scale, and I was surprised at the extensive museum. You could easily spend several hours here.
Lots of parking, clean restrooms, and a restaurant on site.
To get into the park you'll pay by the carload. If you'd like to get closer you spend a few dollars per person to take a quick bus ride up closer. Everyone got off the bus so we could take pictures and learn more about the sculpture and sculptor. 30 min total which was worth it.
If you want to get really close you'll need to pay over $100 pp and those tours are very limited so check ahead.
One thing to note: according to our guide, because of advances in technology, they really are hoping to finish in 5 to 10 years. I'm so glad we got to see this sculpture in process and hope to return upon completion. I'm glad we got to donate toward the project, too.
Totally worth a stop!

Great memorial to see if you're already in the area to check out Mount Rushmore (if you are in the area for a different reason as well, but I'm going to guess 99.9999% of you are in the area to see Mount Rushmore). It would be cool if this memorial ever gets finished, but based on what they told us it's a long shot where funding is concerned. There's always hope, but, "it's the hope that kills you" (-Ted Lasso). Definitely cool to check out and a nice sculpture to pay homage to South Dakotans.

This place has so much more to offer than Mount Rushmore! I loved coming here and learning about Crazy Horse. This place is a must see. This is one of the most incredible stops that you can make. The entire experience is Crazy Horse experience is mesmerizing. You need a minimum of 2 hours, but plan on a half a day of you want to take it all in. There is obviously the monument that they are carving into the mountain, but there are informational documentary movies, and the best Native American museum I've ever seen.
They also provide entertainment including native American dancers that share their culture and take questions from the audience. That was one of the most informational sessions on Native American culture I have every had!
There is also a nice family style restaurant and cafe on site.
There is also commentary over night RV parking in a lot just outside the entrance road.

The museums were interesting and very educational, we really enjoyed the Bearsheart Family show. The gift shop was well stocked with anything you could want to purchase. The area is easily accessible, not very many stairs. The most walking we had to do was from the parking lot to the center. Everyone at the center was very kind and courteous. We definitely want to visit again.

Was a grand monument. Quite the endeavor. Was totally in awe. Would love to come back. But blessed to have had the chance to see it at least once. Definitely take the tour. A plus on the tour guild.

The history of this monument is fascinating. The story of the monument, the people who started and continue to work on it and the philanthropy for native communities today makes this worthwhile for a visit. Bring your kids and maybe one day they'll bring their kids to see more and more of the monument. There's a $12 entrance fee to the compound and also an optional $5 to get closer which I didn't have time for. Check with them before you go so you can time it well.

I enjoyed our visit very much. It was better than I expected. There’s a great educational video at the beginning and many interesting exhibits. We rode the bus up to the base of the monument and it showed the massive scale of the project. We visited Mt. Rushmore afterwards and my kids all said afterwards that they preferred Crazy Horse, which I thought was interesting and unexpected.

This memorial and cultural teaching center will continue to grow. The history of the driving force to build this monumental sculpture AND construct a educational center and cultural assemblage for the native tribes is very well documented and easy to understand. The views are fantastic! The feelings and goals are alive and well. The goal of completion is still far off but the message is very clear. The minimal costs or $30.00 for 2 people and a car worth supporting this effort. You can even receive a reenter pass good for 3 days to return again.

I would recommend someone to visit it more to understand and to get feel of native American culture and how they used to live earlier rather than for monument. Monument is too far from viewing deck and you cannot go near it. However, museum was very beautiful showcasing native American artefacts, culture, etc. Also, local performance and dances were very nice.

We went for the mountain but it was SO much more! Start with the film, don't miss the bus tour (100% worth it!) take in a show and then walk through all the museum exhibits. We spent an incredible morning and probably could have stayed longer. It is a tale of what the love of one's heritage (Chief Standing Bear) and the legacy of one family can do. We were awed by the experience, and we are already planning to return.

It's amazing how much it has grown and what has been accomplished, (not just in the mountain but also with the university, etc.) since I started visiting as a child. This year we did the story tellers tour up to the finished area. It was well worth the donation.

I was very impressed with my experience here. There was a5 dollar bus tour--very short, but worth it. We were able to experience a presentation and dances by a native, who also told us some very good history. The visitors center here is large--plan extra time to see it all or plan to miss some of it. I am in awe of the effort to create this memorial and to keep it in the hands of the local native Americans rather than using the state or federal government. My respect for them is much greater and my compassion for the things they went through at the hands of the white man is much more real.. I would visit here again just to experience the spirit of the monument.

Well worth the time and effort to see gives a person. A whole new perspective of the Native Americans. Plan on at least 4 hours if not more. And definitely take the bus tour. The restaurant was fantastic. I had the bison stew. Well worth the price. Overall, as an average white male American, very humbling experience.

The scale of the project is enormous! Hope to see it finished in the future. The entire complex offers views of Crazy Horse. Did not take the bus ride to get closer but the museum, gift shop, theatre, and viewing areas were worth the visit. The cost was around $20-$25 for an all day pass.

A must see place if you are in south Dakota, would suggest visiting mt Rushmore first and then crazy horse to be able to imagine and understand the scope of this and the time and effort it would take for the
Completion i think that is what this
Place signifies .. “time”
My Second visit after a decade, bit was still amazed. Its a nice Place to know about a lot of native American culture and has a wonderful collection of artifacts.

It is going to be spectacular when finished. We were able to see his face. His pointing arm is taking shape. You can see the outline of the horse marked on the mountain. The sculptors home, and workshop is part of the entry fee. There is a bus tour priced separately ($4) to get a closer view. *We were told the van tours take you up so you can walk on the arm ($125) A restaurant is on site.

I found this to be much more interesting than Mount Rushmore. They take you on a bus ride up and give you a guided tour along with the story. They also have a theater room where you can watch a movie about the family. Also an excellent Museum to tour. This place was spectacular. Price you pay to get in is more than worth it. It's awesome this place is privately funded and the money goes to help them.

I visited Crazy Horse 20 years ago and saw only the face was carved out.
Now fast-forward 20 years and only difference is some of the base, part of the mane and hand has been completed.
If only the support, funding, and commitment to completing The Crazy Horse memorial was met with the same enthusiasm as Mount Rushmore was completed back in their timeline...
I was assigned to C Troop 1/3 Armored Calvary Regiment (ACR) and our unit was named after Crazy Horse, I was surprised to see nothing in the museum mentioned about our unit honoring Crazy Horse?
I was hoping that the Crazy Horse memorial would have been finished in my lifetime, especially now that I am over 50.

$12 for only me. They don’t give receipts at the entry gate. I did expect to be able get close to the mountain. You can’t. You’re going to be at least a mile or so away. I was disappointed . I found out that the sculpture has been in the works for 75 yrs. This may be an over-ambitious task. I don’t think I’d go back cause that sculpture is never going to be done in this lifetime. I did think the museum was really nice. Especially if you’re interested in the Native American culture. They did tell me that the gift shop Indian artifacts are hand made and authentic. I bought some things that they said were from the Navajo Nation. I hope they’re real. Wouldn’t know though.

Crazy Horse Memorial is amazing!
There is much to do there; world class artwork, shopping, a huge restaurant, history abounds, videos of carving a mountain, walking paths, shuttles that can take you close to the top of the mountain when safe.

The cost was $12 per person. To take a closer look, $5 per person for a bus ride. Like a school bus, but with only 10-12 rows of seats. (It truly flashed me back to my school days riding a metal bus with bouncy seats). The driver was very informative and interesting. The tour included a brief history (with pictures) of how the Crazy Horse sculpture became fruition.
Along with seeing the sculpture, there is a beautiful, fairly large museum filled with artifacts, artwork, and history.
An expansive gift shop filled with local artists' sculptures, paintings, etc, along with the usual t shirts_hoodies, magnets, and postcards. All were reasonably priced for a gift shop, IMO.

Beautiful monument and museum. Very handicap accessible for my grandma who came with us, and the staff was so kind and accommodating to her.
The staff members were all so kind and knowledgeable.
The observation deck was really cool to experience.

Absolutely spectacular memorial. The story and history is like nothing else. The size and scope of the project is quite impressive - to think that all of Mount Rushmore can fit inside just the head of Crazyhorse, is unbelievable. Last I visited, you could pay or bring canned goods for admission. I love this magical place.

Native owned and funded. Still in the process of carving this beautiful memorial to honor the tribes of Native America. Get a short history lesson and learn a little about the tribes of the area. Watch as it develops into something amazing by visiting more than once. The bus ride to the site was an extra $5 a person but I enjoyed it. I wish I could have afforded the van tour to the top.

Fun stop on my road trip through the area. It was foggy when I went but the views were still nice. The museum has tons of artifacts and information. There was an older woman in the gift shop who was extremely informative and friendly! I wish I would’ve gotten her name. She gave me a map and suggestions about stops in the area, and she was nice and made sure to take extra care in wrapping the piece of pottery I bought since she knew I was traveling.

This was a cool experience. The video was very informative and it was nice to learn about something I never knew existed. I will be following this memorial to see the progress in the coming years. Bus tickets are $5. This is a dog friendly attraction. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant or on the bus. Dogs can not walk on the wood floors of the visitor center and museum and must be carried. I have a small dog and had no issues carrying her around on the wood floors. It was cool they also have free rocks that are part of the crazy Horse progress. $12 for an adult to get in (off season pricing).
The Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, South Dakota showcases a large collection of mammoth remains that were preserved in a sinkhole. It is an active paleontological dig site, boasting the world's largest concentration of actual mammoth bones. Visitors can easily access the museum, and there is ample parking available. The main exhibit provides detailed explanations of the dig site and its fascinating history.
Pretty cool history here. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. We spent quite a while look around the main exhibit. You are able to get up close to a lot of the dig and there's good explanations of what you're looking at while walking. Plan on about 90 minutes to walk through at a causal pace.

This was awesome. A live dig site, indoors, with AC. The staff were actually working on the fossils while we were there. Scraping with a dental pick. You can watch them work, talk to them, learn about their job and the site. There is a self-guided tour with QR codes you scan at each stop. The tour guides you through the site explaining the numbers, the fossils, the history…amazing. Plus, it is affordable. Pretty neat time, glad we made the drive here!

Very interesting and educational. Not an exciting experience for the younger child but appreciated by the older child. Lots of very cool fossils in an active site and cool history of the location. About 1.5 hrs spent but we visited off season and at the end of the day (3:30) so only 2 other families were there. Very interesting stop

Worth a stop if you get to Hot Springs, SD! I didn't know this place was here until we were looking for our hotel and it popped up on Google maps. I'm glad we walked through it. Great displays & information!

I'm so glad we stopped here! This was such an interesting place. There's so much information packed in about the fossils and the history of the site. The volunteers and workers are very friendly and informative. We had conversations with several about the fossil they were working on, what finds they had discovered that day, or how they worked with the various tools. Definitely scan the QR codes located on the walkway railing around the site. They explain the different areas you can see from each stop. I put it on speaker so the kids could listen with me. There's 4-5 codes to scan, so make sure you get them all. We spent a good hour and a half here. There's another portion in the museum at the back of the gift shop that we almost missed. The gift shop has a nice selection. You can also buy a bag of soil to sift using the sluice out front to discover stones and fossils. We did a medium sized fossil find and it had quite a bit of stones and shark teeth in it. The kids loved it. There's also a small snack shack out front with pizza, hotdogs, chips and drinks.

A great experience set within an active dig site. Activities for kids, clean bathrooms with water fountain, and a nice introduction video on a loop. Highly recommended and informative!
Ryan Smith — Google review
When someone suggested this place it sounded like a tourist trap waiting to sick dollars from our wallets. Instead, we found a very interesting and engaging site with stories and artifacts that piqued our curiosity. What animals lived in North America before humans? … before Europeans arrived? How did they disappear? How do present-day scientists and researchers gather evidence? The Mammoth Site gives ideas on how to answer those questions and more.
This site should be interesting for people of all ages. The displays are large and medium-sized. The displays show actual work (present time) and past discoveries.
Plan to spend about 90 minutes inside. There are places outdoors to spend time afterwards.

Was in the Black Hills for a couple days and I finally got to go to the Mammoth site. This is definitely worth the price of admission. If you are a student of paleontology or geology you'll be glad you came for a visit. The bones are incredible and watching people actively digging and cleaning the bones was definitely a plus. Highly recommend coming to this museum any chance you get.
They have seniors and military discounts as well.

Very organized way to present the site. We started out with a short video on why the site happened the way it did, so that background helped as we explored the site. It wrapped up with a displayed exhibit and fun activities for kids. Friendly staff in the gift shop. Overall, we enjoyed our visit.

Very informative and well done preservation area. Features remains of variety of animals from per-historic era most notably mammoths. It is an active dig site so there are tools and scientists on site doing research. There is a very informative video explaining how the site came to be (from a sink hole that animals got stuck in) and how it was found in the 1970s. The tour is self-guided with information on plaques and through an audio guide (obtained via a smart phone app). Overall very good experience and would recommend to anyone visiting the black hills area.
Just an FYI, it is approximately 15 mins from the Wind Cave National Park visitors center (where you begin your cave tours). If you are buying tickets and have a long wait you can buy them further out and plan on visiting this area in the meantime. We purchased our cave tour tickets around 10am and had a tour time of 1:30. We were able to visit the Mammoth site in between and arrived back with plenty of time before our cave tour.

Easy to get to and with lots of parking. No RV specific parking. The primary tour is self directed. This is an active dig site. Please note that the web page has audio files that you can play while you look. Please note that you can stop the staff working on the floor and ask questions. They will answer you and go back to working. Be sure to go into the second section. It has more artifacts about the region rather than just the dig site. There is also a fun room for the kids with a couple cool activities.
Danny Beard — Google review
We enjoyed our visit. Didn’t take long to explore the museum and dig site although you could spend as much time as you like. Not overly crowded. Not much activity in the pit but from what I read it sounds like the bones almost need to stay in place because they are fragile. Not true fossils. Also if they were digging and pulling bones out daily this wouldn’t be much of an attraction once it was all cleared out and just an open dirt pit. Actually very well done the way you can see the bones in different stages of cleaning and the positions they settled in. My kids enjoyed their visit but felt it was a little sad that so many animals got stuck in the water and died. Similar to La Brea tar pit in that regard.

Very interesting! Educational. Love the self guided tour with my phone and the QR codes at each station. This allowed plenty of time for pictures and the ability to repeat the presentation when I wanted to hear something again or read it again. The accompanying pictures in the presentation were helpful in finding and identifying what I was looking at.
The staff were knowledgeable and answered all my questions that were not answered on the self guided tour.
The entry price is quite reasonable.
The gift shop was, for the most part, reasonably priced.
I will return in the future to see the progress; as this is an active archeological site, and what you see changes year to year.
There are also some interactive exhibits suitable for children.

Like everyone who grew up with Jurassic Park, I have always wanted to visit an actual archeological dig, and now I have! This site has been active since the 1970s, and they built a gorgeous museum around it. Great information on my self-guided tour to help understand what I was looking at. You can head downstairs to see the lab where they work, visit the museum area with more photos and historical context, and hit the gift shop on your way out. Great way to spend a couple of hours in Hot Springs, SD!! Bring the kids, if you can :)

I went in early January and was the only person there so I can't say how it would be if it was crowded.
I would plan to spend a little over an hour to see everything in winter and plan on adding another 30-40 minutes for summer as the outside grounds are spacious and offer a decent view.
The staff was extremely informative and friendly, more than happy to answer questions.
The facility was well kept and organized. I had good internet service there and the self guided tour worked well.
The cost was only $11 (military discount) but I felt it was worth it for what there was.
The entrance is a longer than average walk from the parking lot with an explanation of the geology of the area as you go. I saw that they do offer a golf cart ride if you need one and can call the number posted on that sign.

Had a great visit. It was nearly 100 degrees so we were looking for something we could do inside. Amazing display and the q-codes at the different spots along the wall were very interesting. Staff was friendly and suggested we go the the worlds best swimming hole and Cascade falls which was amazing.

Well, this isn’t a large place, and upon first pulling in and parking, it might seem that you shouldn’t have bothered. However, once inside, though, not large, it is very impressive.! we are happy we went and we’re amazed at the things we saw. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
I don’t know that I would drive too far out of my way, but if you’re in the area or close by, it is certainly worth stopping in. It truly is pretty amazing for adults and children.
The first National Monument in the US, Devils Tower is a climbable rock formation revered by Native American tribes. Visitors cannot miss this impressive and unique landmark with its hexagonal columns rising significantly higher than any other nearby structures. The camp at the base of the tower fills up quickly, so it's advisable to book ahead if planning to stay overnight. Overall, Devils Tower National Monument is an essential stop for those traveling from the east towards Yellowstone National Park.
Definitely worth the stop if you're on the way to Yellowstone from the east. Impressive and very specific rock formation with hexagonal columns. The camp at the base of the tower was completely full and we were able to stay just only because one young lady agreed to share her spot with us... So, book ahead if you planning to stay here for the night.

Truly magnificent! This was more impressive than I originally thought. The park was great and there is an easy trail that takes about 45 minutes to walk around the entire monument. I was so happy we took the time to make the trip. The park had a convenient layout that was easy to get in and out of. There is beautiful scenery all around the site. Entrance fee is $25 for an auto but national parks passes are accepted. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed my visit to Devils Tower. Simply put, this place is awesome! I enjoyed the Visitor Center and Museum, as well. The Tower Trail with all of the spectacular views of Devils Tower and the surrounding area was great! I went on a little of the Red Beds Trail. I liked that, as well, but I didn't have the time to complete it. Finally, I just want to add that I've been to many National Parks and Monuments, and I'd rank Devils Tower up with the best that I've ever seen!

Spectacular place to visit. You can see it from 13 miles away on a clear day. Trail was paved and a fairly simple hike. Watch out for rattlesnakes. We did come across one. I also managed to get stung by the many bees flying around too (we went in late July). The National Park Annual Pass gets you in here as well, which was an added bonus. Overall, this is a must-see if you are in the area. Heck, even if you aren't, take the time to drive here. It's totally worth it.

Devils Tower is rooted in man’s unconscious like a geographic archetype of summoning. People have skydived and landed in top, rock climbed to play the bagpipes, and untold thousands have photographed and observed in person. Wyoming is a world unto itself. Every place I’ve been to while traveling from Idaho to South Dakota has been noteworthy and memorable.

Beautiful monument and beautiful hiking. If you have time, check out both the tower trail (1 hr) and the red beds trail (2 hr). You see tower from up close from the tower trail but some amazing views from the red bed trail as well! Parking lot was empty at 9 in the morning but was full at 12. The morning sun illuminates the window side of the monument and the after sun shines on the opposite.

Easily accessible trail around the whole column, with benches and places to stop along the way. Spent an afternoon here and saw most of the park, keep an eye out for climbers!
Must arrive early as the line during peak season is extremely long. Worth the wait to see up close but don't get caught arriving too late!

Devils Tower National Monument is an amazing site that requires at least one visit. The Tower Trail around the base is cool, but busy. For those who have more time we would recommend hiking the Red Beds Trail. This bizarre monolith of volcanism is truly incredible. This park is probably with a 1/2 day visit.

One of the best stops on our trip. Wasn't too busy when we were there. Bathrooms are at parking lot next to entrance building. Trail goes completely around the tower is definitely worth the walk. This U.S. National Monument Park in Northeastern Wyoming is a must visit. This rare natural monolith is the largest of its kind in the world. This structure even from a distance is truly unbelievable and at first sight driving on the highway to the park it's breath taking awe inspiring you'll understand when it comes into your view. Definitely friends and family oriented and plenty of parking.
An American the Beautiful pass is honored here.

The only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is the $25 entrance fee. Yes, it's good for 7 days, but this is not a place "most" would visit for 7 days. I think there should be a discounted ticket for those that visit for the standard few hours.
They have a pretty good system in place to limit the number of vehicles allowed into the visitors' centre parking area. A traffic light along the road to control how many vehicles can enter after others leave. The lineup can be long, but we went later in the day and didn't have to wait long.
That being said, it was awesome to finally see in person. Photos and Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind don't prepare you adequately. We only walked the easier shorter trail, but the views all around were amazing. There are lots of benches and viewpoints to rest at, but it's not a difficult walk.

Absolutely loved this national monument. After flying, the wife and I spent a couple hours here which totally helped unwind. I highly recommend the walk around the tower. It's not that far, and not that strenuous, and amazingly peaceful!! I also like that this park was not overly populated with visitors.

I absolutely loved Devil's Tower! You can see this for miles before you even get there and it only becomes larger and larger the closer you get. There is an easy, paved trail that encircles the monument offering views from all angles. The visitor's center is quite small as is the parking area, so I recommend arriving as early as possible.

This place is kind of majestic. Definitely a must see attraction if you're in the area. Walk the trail up to the lookout, you won't regret it. You need to see the centerpiece of Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. Parts of this monument were in the film. This place is a must see. Hard to explain unless you see it. There is a walking path that goes around the base of the Monument. You won't see any space aliens here, or will you? :)

Loved this iconic geological wonder. I parked at the Joyner Ridge trailhead and took that to the Connector Trail and linked up with the Red Beds Trail. This gives you a more authentic experience with a variety of views of the tower. I had the trail to myself today, helps I went on a weekday in February. For an easier route just drive up to the base and there is a paved path around the tower. Either way, it’s worth the time, hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I wasn’t sure if we wanted to take the time to go to Devil’s Tower during our road trip, but I am glad we did. The size of Devil’s Tower is amazing! As you enter the park you drive around about half of it to get to the parking area. After you park there is a little trail area with restrooms, drinking fountains, etc. We saw some deer while we were there. I have read about the ability to do rock climbing, but we did not during this trip. I would highly recommend making this a stop on your trip.

Also called Bear Lodge. Absolutely incredible. Seeing it from a distance was just amazing and seeing it up close brings an entirely different dimension to it. We walked the trail around the base of it which gave great views of it and the boulder field. It’s such a unique feature, if you’re in the area you should go visit. Seeing the birds flying around it makes it seem so dynamic and alive. And there are animals living on the top!

Interesting butte surrounded by pleasant pastures. There's a gentle slope up to the base but expect to wait at the lights until spaces are available. You can easily save the bother of going in and snapping your pics at the many spots outside the park. Some could argue that you get a better perspective.

Nothing you have ever seen in pictures or on TV gives this place justice! The boys were able to climb way up to the base of the tower. And with a special permit, people are even able to climb the tower itself. I personally think they are crazy (saw a few climbing), but to each their own. There are two trails that go all the way around the base of the tower. We took the small trail, and it was relatively easy and absolutely stunning.

Waited out the fog and it was worth it! Pictures just don't do it justice. Don't think you can see enough from the parking lot!, walk the trail up to the base. It's only about 300 ft (100 m). Nicely paved and wide enough for a wheelchair! Nice little gift shop and informative displays. The building next door has restrooms. Both buildings were built in the 30's and still look amazing. P.s.- don't forget to stop at Prairie Dog Town on your way in ( large grassy field), those critters are just Too Cute!

Pictures do not do the Devils Tower justice. It is a must see. They are no words to describe the majestic views. Its easy to see why the Native American tribes consider the area sacred. You can feel the the presence of of God around this place. . The way the breeze flows through the Ponderosa Pines. It’s as though the the earth is trying to tell you something. If you go , find your own secluded spot and just sit there and listen.
It’s a spiritual journey.

Scotts Bluff National Monument, spanning across 3,000 acres, showcases unique rock formations and serves as a historic landmark on the Oregon Trail. The bluff rises 800ft above the flat plains of western Nebraska and still displays wagon ruts from mid-19th century pioneers. Visitors can explore exhibits at the educational visitor center and enjoy various walks or drives up the bluff. Additionally, there is a junior ranger program available for children to learn about pioneer challenges and life.
Beautiful and inspirational. The hike is challenging but worth it! The visitors center is educational, it has a 14 minute video about the site and a small museum.
The junior ranger program was appropriate even for smaller children and our ranger spent time explaining the pioneer challenges and life

I was really amazed at how wonderful this place is. Far better than I could of imagined. This is the best National Monument I have been too and is really under appreciated. The 1.5 mile drive up to the top has great views and you drive through three carved out tunnels. There is also the option to hike to the top through trail tunnels as well. The trails at he top are accessible and have literally 360 degrees vista views. It has a fairly nice visitor center as well.

This is a place of great importance and also quite well maintained. The staff at the visitor center is very courteous. In the visitor center there is small museum explaining the history of this place and also there is 15 min long movie to watch there. I suggest to watch these at the beginning.
From the visitor center you can drive for 1.5 miles to the top of the monument. At the top you can access North trail (0.2 mile) and south trail (0.5 trail). From the south trail you can access saddle trail (1.6 mile each way, not loop) which I did not take. Views from both the North and South trails are breathtaking.
Once you are there, don't forget to take the old Oregon trail which is right across the visitor center. This trail is just half to 3 quarter mile each way (not loop).

This was such a great stop on our road trip! We learned so much from the museum and the guides. The museum had great hands on activities for kids. The guides were very knowledgeable and answered all questions. It's worth finding out when their programs are and planning your visit accordingly. You can hike or drive to the top depending on your physical needs. Don't forget to use the restrooms at the visitor's center before you hike to the top. No shade so don't forget your hat/sunscreen.

Pretty drive and good scenery. Me and my group were in a bit of a hurry so I didn't get the chance to fully experience it, but I recommend it! The museum had a few good things to read. The drive up and through the tunnels were great fun!
Warning, the red ants are very aggressive and will do everything in their power to bite you and it burns.

A great place with amazing views at the top! Wasn't sure if it would be open on a Sunday, but after checking it was! Came here and not only was the weather beautiful, but it wasn't busy at all, which was a bonus. Definitely head inside first, to get a guide and have a walk around the museum, as it's a fascinating insight into the history of Scott's Bluff and its historical significance. I loved the artefacts they had in the museum, a window into a time long gone by. I definitely enjoyed driving up to the top, to get panoramic views of the landscape below... Wow! There are hiking trails to the top, but it's best to get there early if you want to do that, as I imagine they may take some time. Driving is definitely the quicker way of reaching the top, and so very worth it. The rugged landscape of the South Overlook Trail was beautiful to admire, with a few benches there to kick back and take it all in for a while. So if you're in Nebraska, definitely check out Scott's Bluff National Monument.

Absolutely great hiking and stunning views. I really like this spot for reaching towards the end of the plains and getting to the mountains you can see for miles around in every direction it's cool when a train comes through town and you can see it coming and going for miles

Fun hike, will need to bring more water next time if is this time of the year. Something to keep water cold cause my bottle of water was hot by the time we made it up. It was fun seeing around from the tunnel cave on the mountain side of the hike. Loved the little history in the museum. Had a nice time. Will recommend and make again to hydrate or get some snacks the hike was round trip about 3 miles or so.

If you’re in the area definitely stop to see the monument. I’m from Colorado and it reminded me of going up a mountain in a way. Such a pretty drive to the top with beautiful scenic views. When you get to the top you have a full view. Lots of little paths you can walk as well. Definitely glad we stopped to see it!

A must if you’re in the area. Interesting & scenic. Nice little walking paths on summit that allow leashed pets. Lots of wildflowers. I enjoyed the view from the VC parking lot almost as much as the summit.

Made the stop at this monument while driving from Denver to the Black Hills; its perfectly situated halfway. The short southern trail at the summit were really beautiful and had great views of the area. If in the region, definitely make a stop.

This is a really neat National Monument and I recommend visiting if in the area. It isn't really a place to go out of your way for though. They have a nice visitor center with exhibits on the history of the monument and the Oregon Trail. You can drive your car to the top and the views from there are really scenic. Overall a great place to stop and relax for a while.

This is a great little park to visit. The walks are really nice and there are both easy and longer walks to choose from. The drive up to the top is interesting to do and has a lot of good views, but few places to stop. The two walks at the top compensate, offering a full 360 deg view of the surrounding area.
The visitor center is decent with some interesting stuff on the history of the area and the Oregon Trail.
Its a really unique place and makes for some excellent pictures.
I would certainly recommend doing this one.
The Cheyenne Depot Museum is an all-ages museum dedicated to the Union Pacific Railroad. The museum showcases photographs and models of various aspects of the Union Pacific history, including surveying, track-laying, and steam engines such as Big Boy. Visitors can explore the historic depot and listen to audio recordings from men who worked on trains in different capacities. The museum also houses the Cheyenne Visitor Center, making it a one-stop destination for tourists interested in learning about railroad history.
Cool little museum with a lot of railroad and Cheyenne history! The model trains dioramas were cool but it’s a shame they weren’t operating. We didn’t have kids with us but it seems like they might get a little bored since there’s limited things for them to interact with. Lots of awesome detailed reading and history for adults though. The audio tour was cool too since it uses your phone and you just dial in for each area. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting Cheyenne.

We had a great time, the guy running the front desk was very nice and knowledgeable. It took our family of 6 about 2 hours. The train room upstairs was amazing. Pet friendly as well, we had our 2 dogs with us and they let us through with them, awesome experience.

One of the best train museums we have ever been to and we go to lots of them. Every aspect of the Cheyenne part of Union Pacific history is covered from the surveyors, to laying the tracks, to Big Boy and everything you can think of related to steam engines. The history was excellent and displays were great. It’s located in the historic depot and is quite beautiful. The rooms have audios of men who worked in the train yards and on the trains in various capacities there is an audio tour. The Cheyenne Visitor Center is also located there. A wonderful experience, give yourself several hours. And thank you Michelle for being such a kind and informative staff member.

Wonderful for train enthusiasts! Learned a lot about the region and trains. Great activities for kids and adults with displays set up for a wonderful experience. Upstairs is the model trains exhibit where there are very knowledgeable staff waiting to answer any and all questions. It's a fantastic spot as it's location is right next to the railroad tracks and we got to see Union Pacific's Big Boy 4014 coming back from Denver Colorado.

Cheyenne depot museum and plaza is one of the main attractions of Cheyenne downtown. The depot museum is great place preserving the history of this city. Outside plaza is decorated with some great bronze sculptures. I would recommend this place to everyone. pParking could be difficult so find your place before this place get crowded. The museum timings are different so call them before you go.

We decided to drive into Cheyenne and check out their train museum there. The place is priced well and full of great docents to answer questions. There is a nice model train area upstairs that is well worth the time to visit. The layout took more than 30‘years to create/assemble and a marvelous jo!

Who knew there would be so much more to learn about the history of trains coming to and from Cheyenne! Here's a fun fact, when I was there, there was a video of a train going from Golden, Colorado to Black Hawk, Colorado. I'm from that area and had zero idea! Who knew I would learn about my own backyard in a city 120 miles away!

It was entertaining, but not what I expected. I wanted to see real trains and hoped to see the railroad roundhouse out back, but we couldn't because of buildings and fencing in the way. The elevator to the top floor of the main lobby also didn't work which I was hoping would give me a chance at a view of it with no luck. The main floor had a lot of history of the town and train station and how they used to make and fix things. There was also a kid play area and a little shop with shirts, toys, postcards, etc. If you like train dioramas though then the second floor is definitely for you. There was also a penny squish machine which made me happy.

Great museum for kids and adults - many exhibits and photos with interesting info (there was an article from the 19th century about a new miracle invention - telephone:) )
There is an area for kids to play with wooden train tracks and a place on the second floor where kids can control a model train. The museum run model train is impressive although it wasn't on when we visited. The gift shop has many options for train lovers and Wyoming visitors.

I LOVE trains!
I loved the diversity of displays to view in this train museum! I liked getting to view vintage uniforms, tools, books, and accessories. Another thing I enjoyed viewing was the second floor of miniature trains. The dinosaur scavenger hunt was a cute touch to the experience. And how fun is it to watch trains go by as you tour? Excellent experience.

Beautiful museum. Details the history of the railroad system in the United States. The second floor displays a very detail miniature landscape of Colorado with train and mini towns. The person who put it together, Mr. Harry Brunk, took 30 years in the making, past away this May (2023) at the age of 82. He made this huge project possible by dismantling a manufactured home.

A neat place to go to if you're in town! Definitely worth it. Kids would love this place. If you like trains in any way, or have a kid that does, this is the place to go! If you're lucky, actual trains will roll past, since it is still an official train depot. Upstairs (there are large elevators, so wheelchair accessible) there is a large room with a long, continuous model train and railroad. Due to the time of year we went (winter) it was not running, but in summer it is supposed to.
Additionally there was a smaller remote control train that you could turn on yourself. There is also a movie that replays upstairs to watch, if you wanted. It is an older movie.
There are some children-safe things to interact with, such as a wooden caboose and train car that they can play in and take pictures.

Very cool places to learn about, see, and play with TRAINS! Learn about the history of Cheyenne and how the train depot played a big part in helping to establish it. It also has a lot of history information about Union Pacific.
Took us about 2 hours to go through the whole thing. Lots to read and learn about. They also have different spots to sit and watch short videos. You can call a phone number and get a free audio tour through the whole thing.
It costs $10 per adult, but kids 12 and under are free. I think 13-17 was about $7? It's definitely worth it. They also have a cool gift shop too. There are two floors to go through, and the second floor has a whole model set up. Look for dinosaurs. 🦖
Also, be sure to check out the Big Boy 4004 down the street after you go through the museum. It's awesome. It's at a park and it's free.

We were here on weekend and there was a craft fair/farmers market taking place; lots of interesting items on sale.
The museum cost 10.00 a person to go in, we did not visit the museum, but walked around the train depot. The painted boots around the depot are extremely nice to view.

What a fun and informative museum. The model railroad museum upstairs is really fun. The detail in the buildings and surrounding forests, rivers and rock formations is phenomenal. The conductors are great and provide you with information. There are also 4 tiny dinosaurs hidden throughout the display, which adds to the adventure! Definitely a must see!

The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center provides interactive displays that offer insight into the challenges pioneers faced while traveling west, including packing wagons and navigating rivers. Visitors can learn about the area's pioneer history by touring the center, which also includes a gift shop featuring unique items. For those unable to visit early in the day, taking a stroll through downtown is recommended. Future plans may include adding more exhibits related to Native American history.
Had a great group visit at the National Historic Trails Museum. Starts in the Native American section and leads through the Platte River crossing of the Oregon Trail and the modern rail and oil and gas.
Excellent visit. Our hosts arranged some snacks in the lounge area. We spent a little time outdoors. The museum has several great interactive exhibits include a wagon crossing the Platte River, pulling a hand cart, movie, and many artifacts. A wonderful opportunity to learn more about the history of Casper.

Enjoyable couple of hours learning more about the trails (Oregon, California and Mormon) settles took through the Casper area. There is also an exhibit describing a battle that took place between local Indians and U.S. Army in the area. Several interactive activities both children and adults can experience. Stunning views of the valley. Volunteers were both welcoming and informative. Restroom facilities are clean. Gift shop is available.

Great place to learn about church history and early history of the United States. The challenges these early pioneers went though when when these early pioneers settled in the Salt Lake Valley. Best of all the staff and volunteers where very helpful.

Historical information presented by live actors during this 4th grade field trip was very professionally designed. Great job by everyone 👏.
We had 100 young kids and they were entertained for over 4 hours. None of the kids I was watching were bored. The day flew by and was very enjoyable for all.
There is quite a few places to park with handicap ♿ accessible parking, and inside the museum. There is a pretty long entry ramp which will be easy going in, but a bit of a challenge coming out up the hill to the parking area.
Very nice entertaining event for the whole family 👪

If you are in Casper and have children especially you need to go to this museum. Even as a serious scholar of history I enjoyed the interactive exhibits and the wonderful information. Before you leave you should check out the bookstore which has an outstanding selection of books on Western history.

This is a fantastic museum, easily one of the best in the region. Especially when you consider the (free) price. There are lots of exhibits to see and read, and plenty of educational hands-on activities for the kids.
Perhaps more importantly, I was legitimately moved by the fortitude of the people who walked the Oregon Trail and the Mormon Trail. People walked literally thousands of miles in search of freedom and a better life - through very harsh terrain and in only a few months. It's mind-blowing, particularly when you consider how "soft" we've become as a society.
The other two trails that converged in Casper were the Pony Express and the CA Gold Rush Trail. They were also well represented. The views of Casper and the surrounding terrain were also excellent. It's a must-see attraction if you're traveling through Casper!

My in-laws suggested this museum as part of our family vacation to see historic Latter Day Saint pioneer sites. This was by far our son’s favorite part of the vacation. Educational, interactive, thought provoking. I can’t say enough good things about this museum or its staff. They sent my 8 year old boy home with an entire grocery bag full of maps and stickers (he is in heaven) and my girls each got a really cool sticker (think hydro flask stickers) FOR FREE. We had a group of 15 in total ranging in age from 6 to 64. All of us loved our experience here. My photos are some of the written material that touched me the most. TAKE YOUR FAMILY HERE. TAKE YOURSELF HERE. We spent about 2 hours total in the museum, but could have stayed for twice as long. Well worth the stop! Also, the place is free. Completely free. Definitely amazing.

This is a wonderful gem of a museum. While it is smaller, it is also free. There are multiple interactive exhibits to experience while there.
You can crawl into a wagon and experience a simulation of crossing a river. There is a screen at the front and the wagon actually shakes.
There is a great short movie to watch on the half hour and hour. Absolutely worth watching.
While I didn't have kids with me, this museum is awesome for parents with children. They have many things to touch and experience.
You can also get your National Parks Passport Book stamped here even though it isn't listed on the book. This museum is part of a diff organization (Department of Interior, I believe) but still does this. (Inside at the counter to the left after entering). Great staff. Very accommodating and helpful.
Well worth going to this area just to see the museum.

We had an amazing visit to the sanctuary. We arrived with absolutely no expectations to see any of the rescue animals that they have but we're blown away to have been graced with the presence of many. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and it's a good way to get some exercise in on your hike. What a blessing we will be going back!

Incredible animal sanctuary! Its definitely worth the trip to see these magnificent animals up close. It’s also really interesting and inspiring to learn about the amazing work the sanctuary is doing in order to provide a safe haven for all these beautiful animals.
I really enjoyed speaking with a volunteer. He was very friendly but also a wealth of knowledge and taught me so much about the different animals, their stories and how the sanctuary strives to create a safe and comfortable forever home for all the animals regardless of their age or situation.
I would highly recommend renting or bringing binoculars. Some of the animals are easy to see but others can be seen more easily with the binoculars. Plan to spend several hours here as there are hundreds of animals.
They do have two small restaurants where you can purchase drinks and snacks if you get hungry/thirsty. They also have several conveniently located restrooms throughout the sanctuary.
A wonderful sanctuary doing amazing work!

Beautiful animals that we well cared for! Two MUSTS: 1. binoculars, 2. patience. This isn't a zoo where you are face to face with the animals behind glass. You have a birds eye view of them in very large natural habitats. Some of the tigers are in smaller enclosures for medical care or because they are newly rescued. You do get a pretty up close view of them. Staff and volunteers were all friendly and knowledgeable. Drove up from the Springs and it was worth the trip on a sunny, cool spring day.

*Must have plan for binoculars* you will not make the most of your ticket/experience unless you either bring your own or pay a few bucks to rent them there. You’ll see SO much more with binoculars/monocular. I seriously cannot imagine doing this visit without magnification.
Please keep in mind this is not a zoo. The animals are peacefully living in their massive natural habitats. It’s an amazing experience to see so many animals now given the best life possible.
I’d recommend waiting until kids are at an age for a 2 hour attention span with animals farish away. They have awesome accessibility and offer motorized power chairs to rent for those who might struggle with the walk.

What a fantastic place to see! Earlier in the morning provided us with lots of animals storing, walking around and just soaking up the sun. We say new baby foxes, tigers, lions, ligers, bears and a variety of wolf, coyotes, and other beautiful cats. Don’t forget to look for the camels.
Debbie Hunt — Google review
We took our kids there and had a great time! I was unsure what to expect but it was incredible. My 17 year old and 11 year old both had a super fun time!
We easily saw MANY beautiful and fun exotic animals from the safety of the walkway and yet the animals were roaming freely and safely in habitats that allow them significantly healthier and freer than what I’ve seen at zoos. Rescued tigers, foxes, bobcats, lions, bears, ostriches, emus, wolves, lynxes, and more.
It’s a drive to get there but worth it! Plan to do a lot of walking. But the time flew by and before we knew it we had easily spent over two hours enjoying the park.
We had good luck with the weather. Might be less enjoyable on really hot or really cold days because you’re outside, exposed to the elements most of the time.
They said mornings are the best because the animals are usually more active. That definitely seemed the case for us. By the time we left around lunch, many of the animals were napping in the sun.
It’s not inexpensive ($50/adult) but seems like a great cause and was worth it for us to see so many awesome animals rescued and taken care of.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary was awesome. We had a really good time. It's great how everything they do is centered around making the animals comfortable and healthy. We spent more time on the walk than we planned because we spent so much time enjoying watching the animals. Definitely worth the drive and the walk. The indoor entrance has plenty of bathrooms and a great little cafe, gift shop and ice cream shop. All of these areas are clean and inviting. Going in mid May the weather was perfect. The visit was worth the $50 day pass and I would gladly come again.

We had a great visit to the Wild Animal Sanctuary. We got there at opening and spent a delightful 3 hours. The volunteers were great and explained the animals and answered questions.
You should bring binoculars or rent them from WAS. There are a few animals close by, but most animals are best seen through binoculars. I always wondered where the large animals that are rescued go, and now I know. Many of them are here.
The big surprise is that the food in the Lions Den Cafe is actually pretty good. It is definitely better than your average zoo food. We all enjoyed our lunches.
Take the 50 minute drive from Denver and experience this jewel of a wildlife sanctuary.

This was a pretty cool experience but I thought it was extremely expensive for what it was. We did have a great time and I would consider going back but $50/adult and $30/kid is a lot for a family of 4. It took a while for our girls to enjoy themselves but once we got going and started seeing more animals they became more interested. We were some of the last people there as the park was closing and the sun was setting which actually ended up being a treat for us because many of the lions and bears were rawring and it could be heard from all over the park. So that was pretty unique. Overall I’m glad we did it but it will be a while until we return because of the high prices.

This is the best experience I’ve had since living in Colorado the past 2.5 years. Incredible wildlife, staff, and facilities. Highly recommend bringing or investing in binoculars to make the experience that much better, however they do provide you with a monocular that you get to keep. Staff is incredible and passionate about the animals. My crew spent over 5 hours here and we easily could have spent 2 more. Other than the animals in the sanctuary we saw wild fox, bald and golden eagles flying by. 11/10 experience, we’ll see you soon!!

This beat my expectations. We had family friends in town and were looking for things to do with a 13 year old. We decided on the Wild Animal Sanctuary and went at 4:30pm because we heard going closer to dusk you had the chance to hear the animals start to rawr - and we absolutely did (it sounded unreal). The prices are obviously more than going to a zoo but we all felt fine with that since the money went to a good cause. This sanctuary is helping rescue so many abused animals. Our group did bring binoculars but I saw so much without them I probably only used them 3 times - but I imagine this can differ by times of day, etc. Amazing place.

We were visiting again from Michigan, and I do enjoy this place. Great beer and wonderful atmosphere. The people here are great. I want to give a shout out to Dave, he is a fellow veteran that works at the brewery and he hooked a fellow retired veteran. Also I was spending my birthday there as well. I just stopped for an hour on my way into town — perfect way to get a sense of Fort Collins from the get-go! All the outdoor seating was great and the weather was perfect, so the mood of the crowd was super happy, aided by great beers. I loved my pint of Voodoo Ranger Juicy Hazy IPA.
On a second visit, a Sunday afternoon with perfect weather, it looked as if the whole town had converged on the place! Every table was occupied, so we took our beers and sat on the edge of the stage, a perfect place to watch the Dads Mini-golf Open, which was a kick! Funny to watch the “gallery” moving from hole to hole and getting quiet for a shot! Like the other big brewery in town, this is a real, lively, thriving community center for Fort Collins.

We visited New Belgium in Fort Collins for the first time this past December and had an absolute blast! Our small group of four received a very personal tour from Caitlin and she provided a topnotch experience. I've been on probably 8-10 brewery tours in various states but this one was the best, by far, and a lot of that is attributable to our tour guide, Caitlin. She took us all around the brewery and let us sample each of the different beers on tap. We even got a chance to pour our own samples! In addition to providing all of the details and information on how the beers are produced, Caitlin was great about fielding our questions while walking us through each part of the brewery. We even had a chance to check out the barrel room, which was really cool. If you find yourself in Fort Collins and you have time to check out New Belgium, be sure to take the tour!

Outside they have a food truck and a very large patio slave that can get really busy during the summer. At night they have outdoor fireplaces.
Overall just a great place to chill outside with a beer and friends.

Visiting FOCO for the weekend and had friends take us out for beer at some breweries and the second one today was New Belgium. The place was absolutely packed on a Friday mid-afternoon. Don't these people work? We ended up sitting outside. I went with a sour, Dominga Paloma, and it didn't disappoint. We would need to come back on a weekday as we were told it is usually not as busy.

This is a fine brewery. Not fine as in average fine as in fine like fine wine. They have a wonderfully large field that is great for field games or little ones to run around.
The staff is extremely friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for.
There is a great selection of beers including the new Belgium bangers like fat tire and the 9 million iterations of voodoo ranger IPA but also a lot of exclusive and small batch beers that are not easily found.
They also have sparkling water on tap and not just normal sparkling water but flavored sparkling water that is purple and beautiful.
So if you’re looking for a fine time, with some fine brews, with fine company; come to this fine brewery. (Again all these fines are like fine wine not average fine)

Had a blast on the tour! Three samples and you get to ride a slide at the end. It was interesting hearing about the company and how they make their beer. We were on the tour with some people who went every time someone was in town. I thought that was so cool and I could see why they would do that.

One of the best breweries in Colorado. The staff is super cool and friendly. We enjoyed a fun tour of the brewery with Everton. It was great learning the New Belgium history while trying some great new beers. This place was designed very well and has a great space for you to enjoy the well crafted beer. Your team has created a great time for anyone who visits. One word to describe - WOW. Thanks again

Excellent tour. Ross our guide was outstanding. Great history of the brewery, current production and like 32 ounces of beer along the way. And don’t miss doing the slide at the end.

Don't let the logo turn you away. This is an imperial IPA. Very smooth and thirst quenching. Knocked several back and was having a good time real fast. Lol. I say check it out at your local store if they have them. If they don't change your store or request that they start selling Voodoo beer.

We booked two private tours with them for our wedding guests the day after the wedding, and it was the most AMAZING experience! We love New Belgium! Everyone was so impressed, and our tour guides were so kind, personable, and informative! Our wedding guests said it was the best tour they’ve ever been on. Our tour started at noon, and we ended up staying until 6 PM and just hanging out on their amazing patio.😊 It was the best end to our wedding weekend!

Went on a 90 minute brewery tour and had a great time. Small group of about 10 people. The tour guide was energetic and friendly! She explained the history of the company and described all the steps in the beer making process. We also tasted about 4 different beers along the way. I would certainly recommend it. The tour costs $10 and you can buy tickets online in advance.
Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site is a former prison turned historical park that offers both self-guided and guided tours of the jail and its premises. The prison once held Butch Cassidy, a notorious criminal who went on to become one of history's greatest robbers. Visitors can explore the main cellblocks where other dangerous outlaws were housed and tour the factory where convicts produced up to 700 brooms daily as part of one of the prison's revenue-generating schemes.
We were visiting and saw this and knew we had to visit! Would have been much more authentic if the cell house was still original, but the recreated cells were done very nicely. Love how our tour guide was very personable and full of knowledge and stories!! The old western buildings outside the prison itself are really neat to stroll thru, and the church is simple but gorgeous. The display inside the larger converted barn house is very well done. Lots of agricultural history in there. Such a cool historical attraction just minutes from downtown Laramie. Well worth stopping!!

This is REALLY cool historic place! They restored it really well with how badly worn down the building was. They had really easy to read brochures to help a person take a quick and easy tour by themselves. They are still adding to the site which is exciting. My young kids really enjoyed coming too.

Interesting museum with lots to see! It's a great value for families as ticket prices are $9/adult and kids are free! The tour is self-guided. At the gift shop, you are given brochure with a map of the prison grounds and details about each building. The main prison is the highlight of the tour with multiple rooms to see: intake, bathing, infirmary, cell blocks, dining hall, etc... There is a special display on Butch Cassidy and a wide array of old-fashioned guns and artifacts. Along the wall, there are mugshots of prisoners with a brief story about each. My kiddos favorite part was going inside a prison cell and climbing into the stage coach outside. There is also the broom factory where many inmates worked. You can see all the equipment they used to make brooms and watch an educational video.
All in all we spent about 90 minutes touring, but it could take longer if you stop to read the information posted near every display. The grounds were clean. The staff was friendly. There was ample parking.

Great small museum, easily see it all in an hour or so. The main prison building has been restored beautifully. Lots of other buildings to look through too.

WOW! This must be the cleanest historic site I’ve seen in Wyoming. I had the privilege to speak to some of the maintenance staff, and boy are they passionate about this job. They put their blood sweat and tears into preserving this historic monument. They certainly do deserve a pizza party!

Fascinating place, full of history! Very well restored and presented for all ages to enjoy. There is a gift shop on site with interesting items. The self guided tour requires about 2 hours, depending on how much time you spend at each exhibit.

This place is amazing and worth the visit. There is a lot to see, so plan on a half day visit to get a lot of it visited. There is lots of photos and reading to get you through, also tour guides.
There is some prisoners mugshots with stories that sucked me into.

Cool structure especially when it is foggy out. You might even see a coyote running around. They love that big patch of land in front of the prison.

This place was amazing! A must-see and explore with the family! We homeschool, and the boys really enjoyed learning about this place. In the summer, they teach u how to make your own broom! So cool. So we definitely will return!

I knew we would enjoy this museum but I was surprised how much there was. Not only do you get to learn about the jail itself, they also talk about how it was used when it was no longer a jail. Like how they did scientific research and even judge sheep competitions.

What a gem of a local museum! There is fascinating history here from the early days of the Wyoming territory and colorful people who spent time in the prison. The staff was very helpful and took the time to share history about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. We took our time on the self guided tour option reading many display areas history.

It is a great place to learn about how the process of handling prisoners was done and the day to day operation of the prison. You can read about some well-known people inside these walls.

This is where you have to go when you visit Laramie! A picture into the world of the outlaw of the Territorial West. I especially liked the write ups about the prisoners - both men and women, the crimes they committed, sentencing and tidbits about after being incarcerated. I’d recommend a couple of hours here. The fee is nominal for what you get- warden’s house tour, jail, industry building, mock-up of city and more! We wished we could take a broom home with us on the plane! So cool! (They’re for purchase in the gift shop!) Not a stop for dinner or lunch but they have snacks things and bottled drinks for consumption in the gift shop. Loved touring the archaeological digs inside the jail - seeing the renovations made. Highly recommend.

This is one of my favorite historic sites in Wyoming. I have been visiting since I was a child, take my family now, and have my history students tour for a field trip! As a school group, this has to be the best experience I've had for a historical site. The guides are knowledgeable and very skilled at keeping the attention of students. Also, they have always been fun and tailored the content just right for the age group. When I visited with my family, we loved being able to pace ourselves and explore without feeling rushed. The priority Wyoming has in preserving history and investing in landmarks is evident in the preservation and displays at the prison.
Brittany Hoblit — Google review
The state did a fantastic job rehabilitating the prison to reflect the historical structure, and has added many interesting details based on research of former inmates. It's an awesome time capsule back to the late 1800s and early 1900s in the west. The staff also provides tours that provide a lot of extra interesting details and stories, but they've also done a great job providing enough materials for a person to do a self-guided tour.

If you’re visiting Laramie this should be top on your list of things to do. Fascinating history here. The walking tour is self guided and I enjoyed that. There was quite a bit to see from the prison cells, BREIT factory, wardens home, and building displaying how the university used the grounds.

Nice, historical spot in Laramie. Offer self guided tours or you can explore with a guide. Lots of history here and the experience is well worth the entrance fee.
The Denver Zoo is a vast and sprawling facility with exhibits, animal demonstrations, and shopping venues. Among its many attractions are animals from all over the world, including primates, pachyderms, carnivores, reptiles, birds, and fish. The zoo is well-known for its educational programming and conservation efforts to help save wildlife in the wild.
The Denver Zoo is one of the best zoos I've been to. I would give it third place - behind only San Diego & the National Zoo. It's a very big zoo for being right in the city, with easy access from downtown and 25. Admission is incredibly reasonable and is a better deal than the aquarium. The enclosures are great and the animals seem very well cared for. We did a "behind the scenes" with birds of pretty and it was excellent! Tons of great information the keepers were amazing and clearly loved the animals they work with.
100% recommend it!

It's been a few years since we have been to this zoo. Not much has changed. But, there are a lot of closed exhibits because they are making some cool looking updates. I can't wait to see the kangaroo exhibit. After 5 it is $5. It's a fair price since it seems most of the animals are hiding away.

Very nice zoo. Great size. Not too large to walk in a few hours. Love the tiger walk overhead. The tropical house is one of the nicest I have seen. Elephant information was short but good. We were impressed with how they treat the elephants. Lots of little information booths that were in service. We have a new membership, so we will be back.

They really like to trap you in the elephant and monkey exhibits so you can't find your way out but overall it's a fine zoo. The short and sweet elephant show was great with lots of conservation info and Jake (the elephant) did such a good job! You can tell the employees really care, for example an orangutan mommy had just given birth and they had a zookeeper there explaining everything and keeping order so all guests could see the baby. I also really liked their animal hospital and that you can observe procedures, very unique and awesome experience if something is going on. The only thing I'd wish was for more big cats :)

This is such a great zoo, we went during a colder day in late November. The inside buildings alone took us a while not to mention many great larger animals as well. As we were leaving they started turning on the lights for a separate event. We had a great time and got some good pictures and videos.

The Denver Zoo is a must see attraction. I've been here many times and it never gets old. The kids love it. The zoo is always updating or changing the exhibits. It's a nice place to get your steps in and it's surrounded by great restaurants. The zoo lights are always amazing to see.

Went during the week during February. Wasn’t too cold but a lot of the animals were inside, but did get to see almost all of them. Some construction going on which is probably best to do during winter months. Great experience. Clean zoo.

Best zoo experience of my life! Me and my partner went for my birthday and we saw basically everything! The animals all seemed so happy in their exhibits. I loved feeding the stingrays and the lorikeets, and the wild dogs were beautiful! Left with a plush of one myself. I absolutely want to make this a yearly experience!

The zoo was really nice! I went on a day when the weather wasn't that great (which is my fault) so a lot of the animals were kind of hiding and what not. They have a good selection of animals which for the most part look super content. They have some parts under construction and the birds were all taken if for their own safety, so O feel like I didn't get the full experience, but I would love to go back and a day where everything is normal and it's nice out.

The Denver Zoo is a fantastic place to visit! With its wide variety of animals and beautiful exhibits, it offers a memorable experience for visitors of all ages. The zoo's commitment to conservation and education is evident in their efforts to provide a comfortable and natural habitat for the animals, as well as informative signage and interactive displays. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and there are plenty of opportunities for up-close encounters with the animals. Overall, the Denver Zoo is a must-visit attraction for animal lovers and families alike.

This is a really fun, large, and clean zoo. They have a wide variety of animals and exhibits. Being quite large, it does require a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to take breaks if you come with very young children. It was also quite hot the day we went, and while there is some shade around the zoo, you may want to prepare by bringing water and sun protection. The elephant exhibit was especially impressive. We really enjoyed this zoo and would definitely recommend it for families and anyone who enjoys seeing animals!

We hadn’t been to the Denver zoo in a few years and I was so impressed with the transformation that has taken place. They have redeveloped multiple areas of the park to better accommodate animals and allow for close up viewing. Several areas are under reconstruction and I’m excited to see what is coming next! We had special sightings of a baby mandrill, wallabies being trained, an elephant presentation, and a baby sloth from right underneath. All staff were friendly and informative and seem to really care.

My family travels to aquariums and zoos every chance we get. This is by far one of the BEST zoos we have visited. It is clear that the employees have a deep concern for the animals, the environment, and for conservation. They were happy to speak to all of the visitors and answers questions and offer information about the exhibits.
There was much care given to ensure the safety of the animals, which included taking them off of display if it was in the animal’s best interest. This was actively communicated to the visitors through Keepers Notes.
If an animal was not in it’s normal location, this was also communicated. Absolutely LOVED this zoo and highly recommend visiting it.

Beautiful zoo! My toddler & I had a long layover in Denver on our way to NOLA & we decided to visit the Denver Zoo. It was very clean & well kept. My son's favorite exhibit was the penguins, they have an adorable set up. My favorite were the elephants, I've never seen so many elephants in one zoo.
As recommended by the website, we ordered our tickets online, the tickets were sent to my email. We scanned the tickets & were able to enjoy the zoo quickly. I would definitely go back again! Due to the layover, we only saw maybe half of the Denver Zoo.

This was such a cool place. It was a beautiful day and all the animals were out and active. We especially loved the elephant area as they were filing and cleaning their feet. The employee working that area gave us a great education on the Denver Zoo elephants, their habits and training. Excellent!

Long time visitors of the Denver Zoo both as native kids ourselves, and with our own family
New baby orangutan was cool. All the animals were in open, active areas. There is a massive upgrade/expansion project underway in early 2024. The animal hospital is amazing and is setup to allow visitors to observe patient care. We come every year to support our local zoo and will for years to come

This was my first visit to the zoo other than Zoo Lights. It was easy to move around and it looks like they have some great improvements coming. We had an entry time in the morning so a lot of the animals were just lying around but as the day went on, they were more active. The hospital was so impressive. The prices were reasonable. My only complaint was we wanted to just get some drinks with ice but had to wait in the long line. It would be nice if they had a beverage line only since there was a place with a cash register and beverage machine that were not being used. Otherwise, everything was amazing.

We had a great time here. This zoo is much better than the Birmingham Zoo. I would rate the zoo five star, but several exhibits are closed for renovations. The elephant show was great. We were able to see one tiger. The other one was sleeping on a platform and only partially visible. We saw some lions, seals and sea lions. Our time was limited, so we did not see much else. If you need to leave and return the same day, then you can get your hand stamped and not have to pay to come back in on the same day.

The zoo was awesome. Was $5 bucks and a lot of walking so wear your walking shoes and if your knee hurts like mines bring a cane. But other then that it was awesome. We all had fun and don’t mind coming back soon

So much stuff closed and under construction. Very underwhelming. I understand the need for expansion and growth but when half of the zoo seems inaccessible and you spend the other half looking for animals that aren't in their exhibit because they were moved but there's no signs stating so...eh.... Definitely child have been handled better to set better expectations going in. Needs work in that department.

If one has a SNAP card, Admission is only $1, up to 10 admissions - a way better deal than the $24 now being charged. Incredible that is costs that much - way more than when I was a kid. But then, the DZ has upgraded its exhibits and facilities through the decades.
A few animal exhibits were empty, such as bears, seals and others.
Still, it's a nice facility with good informational signs and exotic animals that seem to do well at high elevation.

A lovely zoo, and clearly on the way to bigger things. The elephant enclosure is very impressive, the largest I've seen outside of Dan Diego. What they have now seems small for a city the size of Denver, but multiple construction projects are underway. The staff were friendly, informed, and engaged. More detailed maps throughout would be a nice touch, as we missed things and had to backtrack because the main map gave the impression of a simple loop that was not a match for how things felt while walking. Even with poor weather it was a great day out and I would visit again in the future.

Had a great time here with my wife and family. Definitely recommend to visit if you are in the area , lots of animals to see and enjoy . There is alot to see , expect to be there for more than a few hours to truly enjoy and experience everything. The staff is supper friendly and knowledgeable. Your going to have to do alot of walking, so bring comfy shoes and if it's a hot day bring your water bottle they got place you can fill it up . Food is mid and pricey, but when your hungry anything and everything tastes good . Bring some sun screen too to protect yourself from those harmful sun rays . I had a great time petting the stingrays and feeding the birds . They have a little train too that you can take your kids on. Lots to see and enjoy . Throughout the day they have little shows where you can learn about the animals , very fun to watch . Hope you enjoy your time there .

It’s super spread out, a great place to get steps. Some animal enclosures were small and I came on a holiday so the crowds were thick—some animals appeared stressed. They had an impressive collection of venomous snakes which were very visible.

We enjoyed going to zoo's so we stopped here for the afternoon. It was a lot of construction at the zoo so some of the places that said a particular animal was going to be was not there. Maybe we missed the signs that said they're not there at this place, but we are following the map that we were given so that was a little confusing. The bathrooms that we did use were very clean and tidy. There was a couple places open to get some food. Very nice for the animals. We did the zoo in an afternoon but you could easily spend a day here looking. Because we do enjoy zoos. We have a zoo pass for our local zoo. It was disappointed that they were not part of the reciprocity for other zoos. You need to purchase your tickets from a kiosk or before you go. There was no one there to actually purchase tickets from

We really enjoyed our day at the Denver Zoo. Arrived around 11 and it took the entire day to see everything. Admission was reasonable. We appreciated that this zoo has indoor and outdoor viewing for most a-list animals so even on chilly days, there's a protected place to experience the zoo.

Fun first time at the Denver Zoo. The exhibits that were open were great. Penguins put on a show for us. They were so active and funny. Monkeys were the next big hit. As of early April 2024 there is a lot of construction going on in the zoo for new exhibits. There were several areas with no animals available. Still a great experience! We caught a flamingo trying to escape.

It was a perfect Spring day for the zoo. It wasn't very busy either. There were quite a few enclosures under construction but the animals that were out were super active. The Denver Zoo is a can't miss experience! They've really done an incredible job of creating an accessible park while prioritizing animal welfare. There are plenty of nature play areas for children and places to picnic with your family or simply sit and relax near their animals. The animal care staff and education team are all friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have. There are several flex exhibits, so occasionally the signage may not quite match the animal you see - but this is well worth it when you realize it means that animals such as the elephants and rhinos are getting healthy opportunities to experience different environments.
Note that tickets have a timed entry, so plan ahead!

Nice combination of using both floral and water gardens. The different gardens are Gardens of the West, International Gardens, Ornamental Gardens, Shady Gardens, and Water Gardens.

The gardens are really beautiful, you can definitely spend a lot of time here but you can also see everything within an hour and a half if you’ve got other things to do in the city. They have a cafe on site that you can visit, I didn’t try it because the line was super long. There were a couple of areas closed off since they’re renovating, but there was still plenty to see.
There’s also a learning building that is interactive and more geared towards kids, so I think it’s a great place to bring kiddos.

There's always so much to look at. I usually take about 3 hours in the gardens but you could easily go through it in a little more than an hour.
It was crowded when I last visited but you could only tell in the cafe and other indoor areas. Its never too bad though. The whole place is super clean and all the workers are nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area

I am new to Denver and just recently been able to visit the Denver Botanic Gardens. Once during the fall event and again during the Christmas lights. I love that they sell tickets for time slots so you are able to enjoy the gardens without the huge crowds but purchase early because they sale out quickly but all is totally worth it. I went during the day for fall and the fall colors were on fire. Night time for the Christmas lights was absolutely gorgeous! There is a free parking garage. Staff is amazingly friendly and promise a good time. I highly recommend a visit!

I Was invited by one of my friends and the experience is amazing. This place is filled with plants from all over the world.
The Spheres is a beautiful place! The outside is so interesting to look at and the inside is filled with plants.
I definitely recommend coming here and looking around, it’s a great way to spend an hour.

Truly an amazing garden that you can tell has had lots of love put into it. I especially appreciated the greenhouses and the wide variety of healthy, exotic, and tropical plants! Amazing library nearby, too!

Beautiful botanical garden with lots of variety in landscapes and types of flora. Visited in mid March so wasn't as impressive as I'm sure it must be later in the spring summer and fall. Great way to spend a few relaxing hours outside on a nice afternoon. Plenty of benches strewn about to sit an relax a bit also.

I'm a big fan of Denver Botanic Gardens. Love it so much, I became a member. The gardens are, of course, amazing. But I love the conservatory. Take your time and just spend the day walking the gardens and seeing everything they have to offer. You can rest of two different restaurants, both with delicious food. The gift shop is great and if you enjoy art, they are galleries that rotate different exhibits. You won't be disappointed.

DBG never gets old. I love the art almost as much as the gardens...haven't been disappointed by an installation yet. With countless favorite individual plants to focus on, I still find myself walking down a quiet path just for the ambience. Thank you for all the years / seasons of enjoyment.

Beautiful area. Really loved the tropical plants. That was my favorite exhibition. Really well put together area of plants. Nice and spacious really like the pyramid in the middle it's also very interactive inside.
Coors Field is the home of the Colorado Rockies, a Major League Baseball team that plays in downtown Denver. The stadium features nostalgic feel combined with state-of-the-art technology, making it one of the premier ballparks in all of baseball. Behind the Seams tours are available during the season and provide a behind-the-scenes look at one of the best ballparks in Major League Baseball.
Got tickets to go to the Rockies vs the Reds... it was a great game .. the process for the tickets was super easy and Coors field was great .. suoer clean and nothing but professional from all the workers to the Concessions.. the prices were not to bad . They actually compete with some of the local bars for food and beer prices.. we will be going back and I hope to have the same great experience

Colors field is a very nice baseball park. Easy access in downtown with lots of parking options available. They are card only inside and have lots of vendors to choose from for food. Someone is always available to help out if you need to find something. Decently accessible but lacking more elevators for those who need them. Have always had a good time here!

First time at Coors field and was not disappointed! Seats are comfortable and plenty of leg room for a 6 foot person. Food was great..team store was clean and organized. ♿️ parking was great with plenty of spots and greatly appreciated located in lot A/B for those that need it. Be aware if you have not been there that levels 200's and 100's are on the same level for some. Signs are posted everywhere though which was great. Leaving the stadium they really control traffic well so your not sitting forever! As a disabled veteran and was there with 2 other veterans, appreciated the "hats off" in between the inning! Thank you for that honor to stand with my fellow veterans! Overall, great first experience and will definitely be back for more games.

I bought last minute tickets for my son and myself to see the Yanks play the Rockies. Ended up sitting in the second row. We had a great time. This isn't the fault of the Rockies of course, as it's mandated league wide, but the addition of the netting is quite distracting. I understand it's due to an increase in fan injuries. Most likely due to fans spending too much time on their phones and not enough time watching the game. Just something I noticed.
Other than that we had a great time. Top: go online ahead of time and purchase a parking pass. I bought one for $21 at a parking garage less than . 5 miles away. One less thing to worry about.

Beautiful baseball stadium in downtown Denver. This stadium is a few blocks away from Union Station and easy to walk to. So many restaurants and bars nearby for a drink or two before or after the game. This stadium has some awesome views of the mountains off in the distance. A great selection of food to choose from, we tried several things from tacos, brats and the fried dough; everything was delicious!

This is a beautiful ballpark located in downtown Denver. It has some spectacular views. If you connote third deck row 20 all the seats up there are purple marking the mile high seats. They have wonderful views of the mountains. Also there is a great selection of food here. So much food options there was too many for me to try and not enough time to try them all. I have to say if you haven’t already try the Colorado rocky mountain oysters. They are not bad at all. You have to try them at least once.

An okay stadium. There's only one large screen for the stadium, so if you're sitting up top, forget about knowing what's going on, or seeing a replay, up close. Getting in wasn't too bad of a wait. The security folks were nice, as everyone was entering/exiting. The stadium was constructed in such a way that the majority of the stadium is in the sun while only the area near third base is in the shade -- PRO TIP: get tickets on the third base side if you want to be in the shade!!!

I really enjoyed my first game at Coors field. It was awesome! The seats in section 120 were great. We got lucky and the Rockies won the game and we also came during fan appreciation day and saw an amazing display of fireworks.
I wish they didn’t stop serving on the 7th inning. It’s up to people to make their adult decisions and choose to drink or not.

Despite being a baseball fan for almost 2 decades (2004) and Yankees being my favorite team since then, I never actually went to a baseball game in my life until last week. Despite the Dodgers and Angels being close to me, I never had the courage to actually attend a baseball game. So I decided to go to Coors Field while visiting Denver(for the first time as well) and I'm glad I did. It was a blast. It was a bit of a headache trying to find my seat, but I eventually found it. Friendly staff. Friendly people sitting next to me. Great game too! Rockies almost rallying on the bottom of the 9th was a great way to end the game. Much better to watch the game in person than TV that's for sure.
Unforgettable experience. I would attend again.

Very nice field! Beautiful area and the weather was nice. However it was an afternoon game in June and got pretty warm because we were right in the sun with no shade. Still good time just 4 stars because lack of shade in seating area.

We came to the game on 7/1 to watch the Rockies play the St. Louis Cardinals. This was Nolan Arenado’s first game back in Colorado so it was nice to see him receive a well deserved ovation. This was only my second time here but I really love this ballpark. It is extremely well done and comes off as classic without being gimmicky.
The game day staff were extremely nice and helped assist us with questions. A fan behind us brought a towel to dry off his seat from an earlier rain shower and he let us use it as well. Even though we were dressed out for the Cardinals we had fun interactions with Rockies fans and everyone seemed happy to be at the ballpark.
We sat in the lower part of the upper deck behind home plate and I thought they were great seats. The seats along the first base line receive quite a bit of evening sun but they also have views of the mountains. Some concession stands offer a kids meal for $5 which is great for families. You can also bring in unopened non-alcoholic drinks which I would highly recommend. We caught a street vendor outside but there is also a 7-Eleven store on Blake street towards downtown nearby.
We walked up and down the 16th street pedestrian mall before and after the game to our downtown hotel. There are homeless people but we never felt unsafe despite the late hour. Coors Field is a great baseball stadium and a must see for anyone visiting Denver.

The Rockies played against the Braves during our stay in Denver. We've never been to a baseball game and we tough it would be a fun night. And it was! It's a really nice stadium with beautiful views over the Rocky Mountains. There was a good vibe and a nice bar close to our seats. We had a very good time eventough they didn't win the game.

Coors Field is a true gem among ballparks. Ranked at #13 on my professional stadium tour, it comfortably earns a spot in my top 5. Despite being only 28 years old, it exudes the charm of an old-time ballpark. Everywhere you turn, you'll find nods to Rockies history, and the views are equally breathtaking. Coors Field excels in areas where other stadiums often fall short; the food is both delicious and reasonably priced, ensuring that enjoying dinner at the game won't break the bank. Plus, the free parking lot shuttle is a fantastic perk. Although parking comes at a cost, having a shuttle option is perfect for those who prefer not to walk or have children in tow. All in all, Coors Field is a treasure in Denver that deserves a visit from both diehard baseball fans and casual enthusiasts alike.

One of the most beautiful stadiums in all of major league baseball. Very conveniently located in downtown Denver and easy to get to whether you’re downtown or coming off of the interstate. Lots of great food, craft, beer, and incredible Colorado weather to watch a baseball game. The backdrop over the scoreboard and to the west is an incredible view of the Colorado mountains. This is especially awesome for a summer early evening game to watch the sunset. Very family oriented stadium and an overall great time.

Parked in lot B, not that bad of a walk. Dead center view bleacher style seats in this area. Not bad got a little sore after sitting for a while. The food and drinks is why it didn't get more stars. Hot dog bond fell apart and it was opening day. Draft beers were all foamy. Carnitas nachos were probably the best thing we had but we're salty. Pretzel bites hard. They should have their own draft beer made for the Baseball Club. Should have more selections of other kind of beers. We were entertained with the game

One of the best field tours me and my wife have done.
We decided to go to the tour during our trip to DEN.
Grab tickets the day of on a Wednesday, off season.
Highly recommended to due during the week, we had a group tour but we’re the only ones on it.
Ended up being a private tour with Phil, the lead tour from Coors field for the last 17yrs.
Learned a lot about the stadium, the team, the infrastructure and the staff.
Tour takes you throughout the stadium, including the visitors dugout, legacy suites, restaurants, outfield rooftop section and home plate on field photo.
Great value for the cost, set us back only ~$30 per ticket.
Highly recommended.

Great variety of restaurants and shopping. Be sure to ride the free buses up and down to get around. Union Station at the north end is great too! This Christmas season, there was an AMAZING lighted tree that was FREE and really fun (see videos attached). The only down side is there are quite a few panhandlers and others that may not make it very family friendly after about 6PM. Still, even they were pretty peaceful and didn't cause trouble.

We visited this place because we read that it was built by architect Pei, but to be honest it is not super impressive, and doesn’t look that interesting. Just a regular mall. In the front of the building, on the little square, there are tons of shady homeless, who make the visit very displeasing. Not that it’s the mall’s problem though…

16th Street Mall is very much like Nicollet Mall, downtown Minneapolis. Food, pedestrians, drinks, shopping and more.
I am not a fan that you cannot sit down anywhere, unless you pay. You have to go to a restaurant. Almost all outdoor Mall seating is gone to try and curb the homelessness and drug problems. The seating that is there is like a trap. I wasn't even sitting down when I had a security guard approach me telling me I needed to leave. Ok, sure. Why? And, I did.
I didn't mention that all I was doing was putting my gloves in my bag.
I'll keep going back when I am craving Caribou Coffee, Sam's or amazing Pho.

They have the pavers started on block 2 , so it's progress. There's lots of construction on the blocks for the 16th st mall project, but you can still access all the shops, and parking was never easy anyways but theres a couple parking garages that are reasonable one on stout and one on champa. The free ride drives along 15th and 17th instead of 16th while under construction. 15th to go west or north and 17th to go south or east. There's bus stops along the roads. Sam's is great to eat at but my favorite is the Blessed BBQ on welton it's fantastic, he's got the best brisket Ive ever ate. Ikes sandwich shop is awesome too on Curtis. Just be careful of traffic and construction going on. It's gonna get better down there, one block at a time. But support the shops that decided to tough it out thru the construction. They are troopers.

2023-Dec. Lots of construction going on. Lots of stores have closed. There are lots of less unfortunate people living in the streets walking around, but they don't bother you. The free mall ride detoured through adjacent streets due to the construction. See photos for detour map.

Just such a nice downtown area to shop and eat. I always take visitors here to give them the full Boulder experience. There's some great restaurants and bars. This was my second visit to Pearl St. and we loved it both times. There's honestly too many places to visit in one day. This outdoor shopping mall is nothing like I've been to in the Midwest (what I'm used to). The shops have something for everyone in them. The various bookstores and toy stores were my favorite. I especially enjoyed the Trident Booksellers and Cafe. Having the option to get my favorite drink and explore a unique bookstore is my favorite way to spend any day.

The Pearl Street Mall is one of my favorite places to visit whenever I'm in Boulder! I love that it's not only a place for shopping and eating, but also entertainment and play! Boulder does an amazing job keeping it clean - and the flower beds well maintained. There are fun, one off, places for the kids to play and "get the wiggles out". Open concept mall(i.e. not like a traditional mall where all the shops are inside an enclosed giant building). The mall gives a vintage vibe with some exciting art performances. I bought postcards from Art Source International. The mall also has a public restroom which is virtually absent everywhere else in the town.

Give or take the university, this is probably the most famous site in Boulder, and rightly so. There is not much I can add to the mythology that has gathered around this mall, other than to say it demands to be seen for itself. Pictures are great but they do not do it justice. This mall is meant to be experienced the beauty and elegance of it, the lively and whimsical atmosphere that contains the spirit of the city of Boulder better than any other place, is not in any individual store or statue or statue or mural, regardless of how colorfully splashy and vibrant those places and sites might be, but in the experience of wandering through the street, exploring, allowing your mind to be overtaken by the symphony of impressions and sensations produced by such a place. Make sure to note even the little intricacies, such as the crosswalks that look like rushing rivers flowing over smooth rocks, capturing the outdoorsy and adventurous essence of Boulder.

Chautauqua Park is a park located in Boulder, Colorado that offers hikers and climbers a wide variety of trails to explore. The park is also known for its expansive lawn which is perfect for picnicking and sunbathing. In addition to its physical attractions, the park also has a number of cultural amenities, including theater and restaurants.
I LOVE CHAUTAUQUA PARK!!! I come to Chautauqua park a few times a month to either meet friends in the park or hike-it’s truly is a gorgeous place, and it always puts me in a good mood close to nature. I believe the statistic says that Chautauqua park is frequented more often than The Rocky Mountain National Park (which is about 40 min from Chautauqua in Estes). But if you are visiting the Boulder/Denver area, you should visit both, as they are both breathtaking and overall amazing places. Chautauqua is perfect for a family adventure, with friends, pretty much it’s perfect for any person who loves nature, mountains, and a great view! Sometimes I just grab a coffee and hike up the first part of the Chautauqua main trail. It can be pretty busy on weekends and holidays, so beware. The parking is good though, you just might have to walk a bit to get to the entrance if it’s a weekend-and most parking spaces nearby do make you pay. I also often bring my Alaskan Malamute, as it’s a dog-friendly trail, and she loves it! You won’t regret visiting this spectacular Boulder landmark, the flat irons are truly a sight to see and worth the trip!

We were told the Bear Canyon trail was the most known Boulder beginner hike. We brought our toddlers to do it with us! We went on a weekday and it was not busy.
Definitely a kid-friendly hiking experience, but a bit too much on the hills at the end. We ended up carrying them for about 1/3 of the way.
Gorgeous views - absolutely beautiful! The pictures I got were only with a smartphone camera.
We also saw a mid-size bull snake, a doe, cows, a plethora of birds and butterflies. The bugs were manageable without bug spray. Lots of plant species, flowers, rock specimens and natural landscape to observe if you're into natural history. A few little streams along the trail, and several shady spots to take a water break.
We did not see public restrooms or a place to get maps of the trail prior. We were able to download it to our phone before coming. Overall, an easy hike without kids and better suited for kids 6+ if you are doing the whole loop.

Beautiful place to see the Flatirons. We did not know what to expect so, no hiking shoes but the path was not bad and the trails are marked clearly. We did somehow encounter a few rough spots as we got to higher elevation due to the snowfall from a few days before. The blue trail especially, was a little rough and muddy. But when you do make it to the top, the view is breathless... no pun intended... 😆
It is worth taking the time to visit this park If you want beautiful photos and catch some wildlife.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our hike that afternoon.

If you are someone looking to ask another person the most important question in your life this is a place I fully can recommend and it won't disappoint. Make sure you go at sunrise or sunset to avoid large crowds of people as the park is amazing and a lot of people like to go during certain times.

At Chautauqua Park and took the Royal Arch trail. A holiday weekend and the hike took us 5 hours to complete. Normal time is 3 to 3.5 hours to complete. It was beautiful day but just a little to crowded for us. Lots of dogs and lots of hikers equals log-jams and numerous points during the hike. But I'm not mad at anyone or anything crowded trails is a wonderful problem to have living in Colorado. I would recommend this park and it's many trails to all. The views are amazing and skill levels of all can hike a trail here. I can't wait to get back up, just maybe not during a holiday weekend next time.

By far one of the best hikes in Boulder, you can easily spend all day here hiking and climbing up to the flatirons. There are several different trails for different levels and scenery. There are a couple of spots with picnic tables and restrooms. It gets alot colder at the top so I recommend bringing a jacket, it was also extremely icy in spots where you would just slide and could easily fall so be cautious!!

Our group of 4 did the route up to Royal Arch in the middle of April. This was a slightly technical hike, with a few spots you need to scramble up or down rocks to continue up the trail. We were happy to be in hiking boots and using trekking poles, but plenty of folks on the trail were in sneakers and not using poles, so it's fine for a casual outing. Some spots are a little slippery, but caution is all that's needed.
This hike is beautiful from start to finish! We started in the meadow, then the landscape shifted to evergreen woods with ample stone formations, interesting lichens, local spring ephemeral wildflowers, and underbrush growing in. We didn't see many bird varieties beyond a few magpies, but we did spot some mule deer, and most importantly, a Colorado chipmunk! There was still snow on the ground in places.
The arch itself is breathtaking, offering a sweeping vista that looks out across Boulder, with a great view of CU. Well worth the effort!

Well, we took our time snack, enjoy nature and pictures. Is a steep hike, but everyone can do it. Do suggest a pair of good hiking shoes because the trail is rocky.
We felt like coming down hill a lot of impact on the feet.

The hiking here is fantastic and has easy to challenging terrain, beautiful flowers, and grand views. We arrived early on a cool morning and grabbed the last close-in parking spot ($2.50/hr -- There is a free shuttle and parking though.) Remember to bring a picnic lunch, sufficient water, sun screen and a bear whistle. Yes, bears are seen occasionally 🐻. After your hike, you will want to pull a blanket out of your car and sit under the trees until your parking expires to soak up every last moment of mountain sunshine. Be alert to your watch however because City of Boulder parking cops walk around continuously checking license plates for violators. It's a popular park and there is a steady stream of cars looking to grab your spot when you leave. We found 3 hours allows for a good hike and picnic/rest time. Enjoy!

The film of his life story was excellent and recently updated. The museum presented a balanced view of his extensive career and was very well laid out. Very educational for all ages. He was forward thinking pro-women’s rights and pro-native American rights. With his successes came failures which were accurately described. There is a lunch place and gift shop next door. The grave is beautifully preserved and of course the panoramic view from Lookout Mountain is amazing. There is a lot to absorb so give yourself time to really explore the exhibits.

What a wonderful walk back into history. The museum is a wonderful 1st class facility full of so much information. Then when you step outside, The view is stunningly Beautiful. It takes your breath away. And I don't mean High elevation 😁 wise. Between the observation deck looking down on Denver and being surrounded by the Mountains 🏔️. And if that's not enough, go to the restaurant and grab a Bison burger or a bowl of Bison chili, and finish that with some Ice cream. After you have enjoyed all of that, I then suggest walking into the awesome gift shop. Finally when you walk out of the gift shop take the small hike up to Buffalo Bills Gravesite.
What a wonderful time we had.

We were going to take some hiking lookout mountain trails but we stopped here first and we walked up. It's a small walk up a hill and you see Buffalo Bill's grave and you find out a little bit about him and who he was what he did. There is a quaint little shop at the bottom of the hill that we really enjoy going through. Bought some stuff there. It is a museum but it wasn't opened at that time so we didn't go in there, but did we walk around the area? And we're saw some pretty good lookout spots. Very nice. Without the museum I took about 45 minutes to walk around and look at everything

Absolute gem in a beautiful mountaintop location! A well executed museum that has some really interesting artifacts related to Buffalo Bill Cody and the people who worked in his Wild West Show.

I was glad I finally made it up here with a friend who’d already been. We walked up from the lower parking. And the people before us paid it forward so my friend and I got in for free. We came in partway through the educational video and loved it, kudos to the museum for making it. The exhibits were neat too, I like sitting on the horse that moves, the jolt was surprising haha. I enjoyed my time here. You can visit the grave and not the museum, but I got something out of it. I also loved the gift shop. So many quirky things!

Really enjoyed our visit! You'll want to spend at least an hour looking through the exhibits - a lot of historical Buffalo Bill items. But would start with the short video presentation that nicely outlines his somewhat complex life. A very nice gift shop, packed with a lot of souvenir items, but at reasonable prices.

Look out mountain and Buffalo Bills Grave and Museum Golden Colorado
Museum is Free:
THE FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH, NOVEMBER THROUGH APRIL!
There’s plenty to see and do
An extensive museum, the grave site, picnic area, trails and buffalo view are great.
The gift shop is really cool too.
If you like the Old West the Buffalo Bills Museum is a great one. I’ve also been to the one in LeClare Iowa.

The gentleman who checked us in was very memorable, funny and sweet. He took a genuine interest in making sure me and my husband enjoyed ourselves.
Don't skip the movie! It's only 20min and if full of wonderful information.
There isna short walk to the grave site and it has beautiful views.

What a cool thing to stumble upon. I had no idea this was here, and saw the sign as we were driving up to the Georgetown Mines. So on the way back I had suggested a detour to stop and see one of the most famous wild west men to ever live. His story is super fascinating and they have alot of really great artifacts of his. I highly recommend the stop. The museum is only five dollars, and really something you can't pass up at that price. It is not huge, I think it took me about 20 min to see each exhibit and read the signs and stuff, it could have been longer if I had watched the movies. They also have a cool spot for the kids to dress up in wild west outfits and get pictures taken.

Really enjoyed the Buffalo Bill Museum free day! I went in with minimal knowledge about this man (My companion laughed at me for thinking it was going to be about the NFL… 😂). Loved learning about this cool guy. Would recommend to anyone!

Small and informative, awesome stop if you’re in golden. It can oversee the town but make sure to watch the 20 min video. It’s crazy to think buffalo bill did all this a little over a 100 years ago.

Great views from the top of the mountain. No wonder Buffalo Bill wanted this to be his resting place. Very well kept, clean and well lit, signage throughout. Short walk up the hill to the grave. Nice gift shop with great gift ideas and handmade items. A small cafe. A great museum with a great story. I would highly recommend?

A lot of fun! It was a beautiful drive up the mountain and a great view! In the museum, there was a lot of cool info on Buffalo Bill and his life and impact. Lots of really cool artifacts and the video was cool! The kid area was well done and would be great for kids of all ages.

Definitely make this stop while you're driving over Lookout mountain on the Lariat loop! A very short walk to the ornate gravesite of the famous Buffalo Bill - includes scenic views from the parking lot, informative signs, and a full gift shop with a small cafe that serves some food and beverages! There is an option to walk on trails that connect to Lookout Mountain Park as well.

Didn’t know anything going in, and while the museum is small it packed a lot of information in and I learned a lot. On top of that, amazing views from lookout mountain and a fun gift shop as well. A worthy tourist spot even though the whole process probably takes 45 minutes at most.

Lived out here for almost 37 years, and have never been up here to see this place. There’s not much to look at it. We went on a Saturday and it wasn’t busy at all. There’s a mini food court and a museum that you have to pay to go into. Overall, it was a quick trip that we stayed for less than a 30 mins to look at.

Bear Lake Trailhead is a popular starting point for a short nature trail that loops around a stunning high-altitude lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. This alpine gem, located at the end of Bear Lake Road and framed by the Tyndall Gorge, offers breathtaking views that are perfect for postcard shots. The area is also an amazing hiking destination with numerous spectacular trails and lakes to explore throughout summer, winter or fall. However, visitors should be prepared for sudden weather changes.
Love Bear Lake! Great scenery. Very peaceful and a short and easy trail to walk when there is no snow. Might be a bit more challenging if there’s a lot of snow on the ground. Still a great trail!
Sharon Landis — Google review
This is a fantastic place to visit. Bear lake itself is a leisurely walk around the lake, with amazing views and great wildlife including deer. However, from Bear Lake Trailhead there are lots of other hikes. I went up as far as Emerald Lake on the first hike. Its not too strenuous and only takes a couple of hours there and back. If you want, you can walk for miles from here. The only difficult bit is getting the tickets during the summer now to park at bear lake. I got there at 6am and there were already a lot of avid hikers setting off. Definitely somewhere to visit.

Bear Lake is my all time favorite for all of our out of town friends. Any time any seasons! We had friends visiting from UK and California in May 2023, they enjoyed Bear Lake so much! This is a easy and family friendly hike. Bear Lake parking lot is always busy.

Mid April snowy hike. Slushy and a little slippery but totally worth it. Great views, and easy terrain. We also did a short hike that went up to the left from the entrance before we headed to this one. Both were good, the one to the left was a little harder just because it was up the whole way. Definitely worth the trip.

Always a beautiful hike! We went up to emerald lake. The paths were sanded all the way up which helped with traction. It was sunny and warm even on a windy day. This hike is pretty easy but always enjoyable.

Absolutely beautiful. The parking lot was a little busy compared to other locations in the park but worth the wait to find a spot. The trail is easy to walk both of you are just walking to the lake or walking around the lake. I visited at the end of the season and the lake was almost frozen. Amazing! The rangers were so helpful with all information about the trail and other parks of the park.

Hiked up to Emerald Lake and Haiyaha. Coming from Minnesota (950 ft. elevation), this trail was moderately hard going up, but the incredible views made the hike worth it. Recommended to start early in the morning for cool temps and less crowd. The trail starts filling up after 11 AM.

Nice and easy, great view of the glacier, lake, and peaks.
If you are interested in extra hikes, the trail split point is only 100 feet away. We were able to hike all the from bear lake to the Park and Ride.

Beautiful snowy hike. The views on lakes were amazing. We hiked a loop up to Emerald Lake. It was a strenuous hike at times but nothing too extreme. Hiking poles/ spike boots recommended for snowy conditions. If not used to heights, more often breaks might be needed to catch a breath. As temperatures are rather low, have an extra layer packed for a hike down as you might get cold.

Parking was scarce, so I asked the staff at the Visitor Center and was advised to take a chance. we waited in line for about half an hour or so at 12:00pm on a Sunday and got a spot.
There was a lot of snow and ice on the road in mid-March, so we recommend always wearing ice crampons. The road is not too difficult overall and the scenery is great.

A must-do item when you are in Rocky Mountain National Park. Has to be one of the first thing you do. We did the entire hike from Bear Lake to Emerald Lake - All four lakes are supremely gorgeous and different. We did Bear Lake at night too, also when it was Sunny and in early morning overcast conditions. We really think mornings are the best time for the hike and scenery not only here but most of the RMNP.

It's a pretty little lake with nice scenery and the walk is pretty easy. It's a gravel trail with the highest incline of 16 percent. It is a crazy busy location so your best bet is to get a trained entry with access to Bear Lake road specifically and go early.

Hint: Either make reservations at least a week or two in advance or arrive before 5a when the ranger station opens.
Came out around 4:45a on the weekend in the Summer. This was to arrive before the ranger station opened and to catch the sunrise. There was plenty of parking at this time. There's plenty of restrooms and trail maps at the parking lot. Be sure to wear sunscreen, bring water, and pack snacks.
The trail is clearly marked and easy to flow. Many different areas to stop, rest, take pictures, and take in the scenery. Views are amazing with a good balance of water, mountains, and greenery. It is a popular trail, but didn't get overly crowded and people were considerate.
There's several trails to take, so total time will vary, but 2-3 hours would be an average amount of time. There is a decent elevation change but it's gradually and on well paved trails. Good place to come for a nice hike with amazing scenery.

Absolutely amazing trail with the best views. Definitely do all 5 alpine lakes, completely worth it. Took about 4 hours to do all lakes. Each one more beautiful than the other.
Jim M. — Google review
This is such a great place to check out! Not only can you park close in order to include small children, there are public restrooms there as well. The trail itself is very short, from the edge of the parking lot to the lake is 256 ft. The lake is beautiful during the winter, completely covered in snow and ice.
Even during the winter this is a very popular stop. That being said, it is easy to share the trail and enjoy the lake.

We went on a day when the weather was beautiful! There was still snow on the ground and starting to melt but the rangers and volunteers were so kind and kept things as safe for folks as they started their trek.
From the parking lot entrance to the lake, it’s only about 250ft, making it a super easy path! Since the lake was frozen, it was different than I’d imagined but you could walk on the frozen lake which was fun!

This hike was beyond moat hikes I have ever gone on. I've been hiking across various states and European countries, and this hike was one my favorite by far. The views were amazing, the lakes were really cool to walk on, and the paths were exactly what was expected. Highly recommend this hike as it was not extremely difficult, but not recommended for dogs or kids.

A hike to Fish Creek Falls in Steamboat Springs, Colorado offers stunning scenery and a variety of trails. The flow is at its most impressive during the spring thaw.
This is a beautiful waterfall with an easy paved trail to the overlook. There is also a short hike that will take you to the base—not paved but still pretty easy—just a bit of a climb on the way back but the path is smooth. Parking is $5 which is reasonable for the beautiful views. It was pretty and we enjoyed our visit! There is a longer hike if you’re prepared that is about 5 miles. It’s a bit icy in October. ☺️❄️

This place is amazing! Always has been a place to go growing up and now going back the fall is still beautiful. Very refreshing to feel the coolness of the water, putting your feet into the water below the bridge is a must. There are sweet little chipmunks around too. Very friendly. Nice hiking trails and bring something to drink too because it's warm.

We took the trail to the uranium mine. It was an excellent choice. The trail is Rocky and steep in places, especially in the beginning, but levels out significantly about 2/5 the way in. There's a good view of the falls at that point too. The vegetation changes past half, and was a delight in early September with the start of autumn. The mine entrance itself is gated off and nothing special. It took us about 90 minutes round trip, stopping for pictures and a sit down snack by the mine. The view from the mine was very good as well.

we spent a nice morning hiking around the Fish Creek trail. The trail to the lower falls is very accessible for most people! It is flat and paved. If you’d like, you can take a short walk downhill to a nice bridge that will give you a nice view from down below the falls. It is a $5 entrance fee to get to this hike.

Such a beautiful place! Even this early in the year. The trees are all still in winter mode, and there was snow in patches here and there... The lower path was closed due to the amount of snow (didn't stop several people from going there). The falls were gorgeous and full! Lots of melt going on right now! Beautiful little Glacier Lillies and a few petite gnomes someone seeded in some nooks! Great, gentle walk, too!

This place is beautiful. We went there because Hubby is in a scooter and we wanted an accessible trail. It turned out that it was perfect for the scooter. If you are in a wheelchair and pushing someone, the trail to the picnic area I think is too hard to try and push uphill. The path to the falls would be fine. Don't miss this spot, it is absolutely worth driving too.

Very peaceful place. Nice drive up. Trails are easy for fit people. If you're fat, like me, just take your time. Carefully walk up inclines backward for an easier climb. You'll enjoy it.

Why wouldn't you visit a 200 foot waterfall? There are some very nice trails for those who would like to see the falls without significant effort or for some reason, can't get to the base. If you want a more moderate hike, go to the base of the lower falls. For a three hour strenuous hike, you can go about 2 miles to the upper falls. It spectacular but arduous. Bring plenty of water and snacks!

There was a small entry fee at the gate ($5?), which provided access to both upper and lower falls parking. Toilet houses both at trail head, and out on the trail at one point. There are a combination of paved cement, blacktop, and dirt trails for a variety of experience levels. The falls however if the most phenomenal part and can be viewed in under 0.5 miles of gentle walking (upper falls) on paved trails. The trip to the lower falls has some steeper inclines, dirt and rock laden paths, which would not be handicap accessible, but if you can handle it, the views are incomparable. From the lower falls you can access even more challenging routes if you opt to pursue.

A gorgeous stop whenever I visit Da Boat. A nice paved path to the viewing point, easy walk. The trail down to the bridge is gravel and a moderate level. I think those with difficulty walking can do it and take it slow. But spectacular views from the view point, you are just up close and personable by the bridge (bummer it was closed for us!) Great scenery all around and especially lucky with all the green trees! Beautiful pictures to be had anywhere in the park!

Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs is a historical location featuring both hot and cold spring pools, as well as rustic lodging options, massages and heated changing cabins. Visitors are advised to adhere to guidelines regarding coolers and other items. The springs can be accessed via shuttle from the hotel or by day visit for photo opportunities. It's recommended to wear flip flops or easy slip-on shoes with traction and keep clothing minimal for time efficiency.
Great experience. I would highly recommend following the guidelines re coolers, etc. We did the late night visit and used the Hot Springs shuttle from our hotel but hope to return for day visit so we can capture some good photos. Bring flip flops or easy slip on shoes with traction - the less clothes to take on and off the better (for time saving sake!) Two hours is plenty of time to enjoy the springs - totally worth it!

I've been to a lot of hot springs and this one is my favorite! Especially in the fall, I love being surrounded by all of the changing colors. 5 dragonflies landed on me the last time I went in fall, it was magical 😍🍁It's stunning year-round, I love the location in the wilderness. I just wish the road to it was more accessible and not 4x4 only in winter. The view of the stars is amazing at night! I actually feel very comfortable getting naked here at night because they keep the lighting low, so nobody can see too much of each other. It feels safe and comfortable. I love that the pools are deep and each has a little bit different temperature. I wish they had more formal accommodations, I would stay here all the time!!

This is the hot spring of choice for adults in Steamboat Springs. (The other one is more of a kid-friendly spot with a slide and such.) Strawberry Park is nestled in a natural canyon, with a series of pools artistically constructed of stone walls. It is beautiful and the pool temperatures are lovely, plus you can swim in the COLD creek for a bracing contrast if you like. (Try it!) Amenities are minimal, so bring your own towel and (non-glass) water bottle. Service was also minimal, but the online reservation system worked fine and it doesn't matter much if the guy taking cash for entry isn't a social butterfly. Will definitely return next time we're in the area.
Tamara Baysinger — Google review
First time visit to the hot springs, with family.
We weren't interested in the clothing optional scene nor stumbling around on rocks after dark, so we booked a 4-6 time slot. It was a very hot summer day so we were questioning the sanity of this, but it ended up being very nice.
The range of pool temperatures let us move between hot and cool. Lots of people were in the lower cool (not cold) pool, switching to occasional dips in one of the hotter pools. The upper cold pool (unheated mountain stream water) was VERY brisk; only a few die hards ventured in there even on a hot day
The mountain canyon setting was also much more pleasant than the sweltering temps in town.
The pools have moss growing on the rocks, which is slippery. Enter and exit carefully and use the hand rails and you will be ok. The dark colored moss also makes it very hard to see the bottom and the rock steps. Water shoes are nice to have so you don't kick a rock with bare toes while fumbling around for a step.
Reservations are necessary; you book one of the two hour time slots. Two hours was plenty of time for us. Services are minimal...bring your own towels. They do have a cooler with bottled water for sale where you check in.
As others have pointed out, parking is limited, though it was never full when we were there.
'Shift change' is at the two hour reservation starting times, if you want to claim chairs watch for people from the prior time slot packing up to leave.

This place is gorgeous, clean and wonderful to visit. I went in the early fall, so it was not crowded, and I was able to get a reservation on a weekday and a reservation on a weekend. Also, because I went in the fall, I didn’t have to deal with the snow. If I was going when it was snowing out, I would definitely take the shuttle. There’s information on their website. I don’t have any photos to post because I’m not the type of person that goes into a hot tub situation and starts snapping photos. Frankly, I think that’s rude and please don’t. However, it’s as beautiful as the website to depicts & probably more so.
Skippy Dudley — Google review
To enjoy this place for the first time, go during daylight hours. There is nothing on the website about it being pitch black and icy once the sun sets (we visited in November). There is zero lighting and it's incredibly slippery. The pools felt nice, but we couldn't enjoy the natural setting. Perhaps an evening visit is best if you've already been and know where to go. There's a very basic changing room with a curtain. No instructions upon arrival, basically good luck! I was really looking forward to this hot spring experience for my birthday, but was seriously disappointed. Please update your website with this information!

Absolutely amazing place. The ambiance especially at night with the stars is beautiful. It is quite the drive and am not sure if we would feel comfortable during the snowy months to make it out. They offer a shuttle option for a fee and I would recommend that!

A unique experience staying at this place: I lucked out and stayed in Cabin #4 for the weekend. We had after hours access to the thermal hot springs where the sky was dark enough to see constellations galore and shooting stars pass by. The cabin bed was surprisingly comfy and our window looked over the river. The heaters had a hard time warming up the little room so we limited how often we opened the door. The grill outside was great to cook breakfast and the wooden seats were also solid. We kept our food inside with us and I believe we were visited (more so raided) by little mice who nibbled on some food but I never saw them with my own eyes. A unique aspect about this cabin is that you bring your own bed linens and towels, which is super sustainable; this place also runs on solar energy which I am happy to hear! The showers were a bit of a let down. The water from the sink ran HOT but the showers gave off a wimpy lukewarm stream. The shower floors could've been cleaner but I've seen way worse. The rest of the bathroom was in relatively good shape and the design of the bathroom was attractive. I would come back a little reluctantly in the Winter since the shower water wasn't cutting it for me, but I would come back in the Summer since the temp doesn't matter that much at that time or Fall when the Aspens change leaves. The mice obviously should be something to address ( whether by providing a food box OR suggesting to guests to keep their food in their cars) but it's also a legit old log cabin so it's natural to encounter critters. It's definitely like an established campground except that you have heat and a comfy bed to keep you sleeping happily through the night. Thank you for having us! I would recommend this place with the cautions that I mentioned above.

A very unique hot spring experience! We came right after dark and luckily the couple we came with had came the night before so they could navigate us through the dark. There is a path reasonably lit but when you go off that path the light is very scarce. There are two pools we went in, one which was extremely hot and the other which was comfortably warm for a long period of time. They also had a cool pool that we did not go into. After a certain point in the evening the crowd seemed to turn so we headed home after hours of enjoying the springs. We will definitely be back again and maybe shoot for late afternoon and sunset.

Beautiful hot springs, with a creek running through it. Hot springs water comes out of the ground at 145 and the pools are about 107. The creek is 45 degrees if you are brave enough to swim across. I did once and at 74 years old that was enough for me.
Nice changing room, massage service available and all the pools have a great view. Lots of young people there as well as some my age.
It was 20 dollars and reservations reccomend as there is not a great deal of parking at the site. We didn't have reservations and had no problem getting in. I will definitely go back.

I visited the hot springs yesterday 8/27 and it is a lovely place.
However I really want to warn others about the danger of entering and exiting the pools. I slipped and fell two separate times and the second time I injured my back. I am laid up in bed and if my back is truly injured I will be considering legal action. It would be very easy to hit the head on the stone steps and have even worse injuries.
There are no signs, no warning of the slick algae on the stairs, there are no rubber mats, there are very few railings. I am afraid someone older will be seriously injured and I am writing this review to warn others. Be very careful and use the limited rails as much as you can to enter and exit.
It is very upsetting to me that very minimal precautions like rubber mats could eliminate this dangerous hazard. I feel frustrated and sad that this happened to me and I want to do something about it. Be safe, be careful.
Also as others have mentioned, person at the front was rude and demanding, it would be nice to have a friendly kind face as the front of your business. Also no one is around in the pool area to check on guests or make sure everyone is safe and well. Would not expect such lax service and dangers at a very busy business in America.
For five people and one child we paid $140 including a couple bottles of water. I expect safety and friendly customer service for the price. Maybe this is too much to ask for.

Overall I loved it. Awesome environment and everything. 3 different pools at different temperatures. The only complaint I really have is the lack of lighting. Once it gets dark they have no lights that come on, so you're basically in pitch black walking around when you get out of the springs, and there are rocky steps everywhere. You have to go extremely slow in order to not trip and break your ankles. Also I didn't realize this was a thing before I went there, but apparently it's clothing optional. Oh also the shower facilities were nice. They keep it nice and toasty in there, and the floor is even heated.

This is definitely my favorite hot springs that I've been to in Colorado. This wonderful natural hot springs nestled in the mountains of the surrounding Steamboat Springs area is both picturesque and spectacular in many ways. Come for the hot springs, massages, lodging, or all the above and enjoy the beauty this part of the state offers. Online reservation only, cash only and off grid with little to no cell signal, requiring 4x4 or AWD, as well as high clearance. Highly recommended for a remote getaway or to soak post-skiing.

What an awesome experience! At the last minute my wife found this spring online and was able to book the last available reservation, and thank god she did! It was the perfect way to relax and unwind after skiing all morning. Awesome location at the end of a windy road in the middle of the mountains. On a 20 degree day in December, this water did not fall short of the “hot” variety. They have multiple pools, each allowing the water to cool down naturally to different temperatures, so you can jump around and heat up or cool off as desired. One important recommendation, which we did not have the foresight to do…. BRING A TOWEL AND DRY CLOTHES YOU CAN PUT ON EASILY! We made the mistake of not doing that, and getting out of the water and dried off in the 20 degree shade was quite the spectacle.

The staff at this establishment are shockingly unprofessional, rude, and deeply prejudiced. It's baffling to me how these individuals retain their positions and why anyone would consider this place great.
The only redeeming feature of this location is the view, but even that can be found elsewhere in Colorado without the added discomfort. Instead of enjoying the landscape, you're forced to contend with a filthy river masquerading as a "pool." The water resembles nothing more than a polluted river, akin to swimming in the Colorado or Platte River, except it's unnaturally heated. In contrast, professional pools like those at Glennwood Springs, Indian Springs, and Old Town Hot Springs boast warm, clean, and sanitized water.
Swimming here is not only unpleasant but potentially hazardous. I sustained severe cuts on the bottom of my feet, likely from the sharp rocks on the bottom because this is not a swimming pool, it's literally like the bottom of any river in the mountain. Additionally, accessibility is severely lacking, with only stairs available. This poses a significant challenge for individuals with mobility issues or health concerns like bad knees, wheelchair, or high blood pressure because it's all incline or decline on a dirt road, there is no sidewalk.
Save yourself the disappointment and choose a more reputable destination, like Old Town Hot Springs. Don't take my word for it; just compare the pictures online like google. While Old Town Hot Springs offers pristine waters, Strawberry's Springs presents an alarming scene of algae-ridden waterfalls. Furthermore, be prepared for muddy dirt roads, adding to the overall unpleasant experience.
In conclusion, avoid this place at all costs. It's simply not worth the three-hour drive or the discomfort of navigating its inadequacies.

I used to love this place. Its still beautiful, lodging is good, springs are amazing. But they've dragged the pool reservation and mask madness out far enough. There is now no scientific reason to go into complete panic that a group of people might sit outside in a group of 7 as opposed to 6. There is no scientific reason to lose our minds at the thought of folks going maskless outside at a remote mountain campground. For a more pro-science business, check out Old Town Hot Springs in Steamboat. No reservation required, no one losing their minds that you aren't on a list. Much nicer staff, too.

Went out to Winter Park to visit a friend and had planned to visit Strawberry Hot springs. I had been in the summer and was excited to see it in the winter. We booked a reservation for 6 o’clock and quickly realized we wouldn’t make it in time (it was a 2 hour drive there) and the next available reservation time was booked. I called and spoke to Russ, who said we would still be accommodated and our two hour time slot would start whenever we were able to arrive. He also proceeded to tell us that they’ve been getting horrible reviews online and they wanted to turn that around so they’d be understanding of our poor time management.
We quickly threw towels in a bag we had been using earlier in the day on the mountain and headed out. Upon arriving, we paid for our slot and had our bag searched (alcohol and outside food are not allowed). We completely forgot about the pint in the bottom and expected this employee to just ask us to take it to the car. Instead, he was incredibly rude told us to take our money back and get out. Not only was the manner of the situation handled poorly, the employee was downright rude and not even willing to let us explain and remove the alcohol from the area so we could enjoy the springs.
Customer service like this is what drives business away & if you’re going to employ those who don’t enjoy their job, then you’re going to continue to have horrible reviews.

Magical! We went when it was 10 degrees outside and it felt great to be in the different temperature pools. I preferred the warm bath feeling pool to the really hot sections. Many people were doing polar swims in the cold pool and it was pretty cold the 30 seconds I tried it. The setting it beautiful and you won’t regret visiting.
Cash only. Changing rooms and restrooms. Bring your own towels and probably some slippers to not get your winter boots wet.

This place is awesome, I have been maybe 7-10 times in the past couple years.
It’s a magical location, so cool with the stream right by the springs!
Super cool when it’s cold out! The stars!!
But, went yesterday and it was completely packed. To where you could barely move in the pools. I’m all about capitalism but something is lost when you are jammed like sardines into a can in the hot springs. Don’t go on busy days maybe?

I have been coming for literally over 40 years. They’ve let some things go and not quite as well taken care of as it once was at such a unique place. I have never been where there is anything else like it. Definitely don’t want the kids there after dark, very adult. Go reset your metabolism and rejoice in the beauty. That is the natural contrast to the river. I’ve always loved the cold plunge and then back into the heat again.

This place is incredible. Rob and Paul were so friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. The pools are perfectly maintained to still feel extremely natural. Campsites are spacious and well maintained with very nice grill, picnic table, and raised wooden platform. The scenery is beautiful, and this little paradise is something VERY special. I can’t wait for my next trip here.
BE WARNED: Chipmunks are brazen. Bears about. I would highly advise the hike up that hill to put your food in your car at dark.

This place is a must when visiting Steamboat Springs. Be prepared to change in the cold during the winter in open enclosures that are made of rock. The change areas remind me of the Flintstones. Pack easy on/off water shoes to wear while moving from pool to pool or to the change area. Don't forget your chains during the winter months as the drive is hilly with narrow roads and muddy areas closer to the springs.

I visited with a friend who was visiting from out of town. One of the best parts of our trip exploring Colorado in the winter.
Definitely need a four wheel drive. Don’t forget to bring cash for the entrance fee. I went during the day which I recommend especially for first timers.
You will not be disappointed the drive up is stunning lots of wildlife. Be careful the last few miles the road is narrow and traffic runs both ways on that narrow road.
If I remember correctly they do a bag check on the way in and I don’t think you can bring food in. I came with my suit on because the change area is not very private.

I brought my husband here for his birthday. I would definitely recommend booking at least 2 months ahead for a cabin. What an amazing experience. We stayed in the train caboose. It did have a shower, toilet, pull out bed, linens and kitchenette and a loft like area to shove unwanted guests that you don't want to hang out with.. What I loved most was we got to stay until midnight instead of 10pm and got the whole hot springs to ourselves. Clothing optional as well, so if that bothers you stay home. There are 5-6 hot springs pools. Some are very warm and some are like warm bath water. If you are brave enough there is a cool area for an ice bath experience. Its cold but worth the adrenaline. I'm not sure what everyone was talking about regarding a cranky old man ruining the experience in the reviews. Everyone was so kind and welcoming.

I have been to 3 different hotsprings before coming to this one and this one was by far the best.
We went for the 8pm to 10pm slot on 4/13/24.We did reserve online before arriving as recommended on their website so I would definitely do that.
Clothing is optional after 8pm and it's very dark by the pools so you don't have to worry about seeing anything you don't want to. Also it is cash only at $20 a person so bring cash!!
Highly recommend this place.!!!

This is a natural hot spring. There are apparently a few rooms to rent but it's not a hotel and few guests stay in the rooms - I've never tried them.
You don't come here for the rooms or service (shuttle service is great though). It's all about the natural beauty and unique experience and they still have that. The changing areas can get hectic - wear easy but warm clothing.
Clean bathrooms but they're a bit of a walk.
Dave Brand — Google review
This place is so cool. The hot springs were perfect after a day on the slopes. And beyond just the hot springs, there's a creek that runs right by it that you can jump into to cool off. It's quite the temperature change with the springs being above 100°F and the creek around 40°F.
Highly recommend booking a shuttle to the location, as the road to it in the winter is restricted to vehicles with 4 wheel drive and/or tires with chains.
Brian Goulet — Google review
We did an evening soak on our trip over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend! It was a wonderfully therapeutic and spiritual experience even at -13 degrees! We highly recommend it! Couple of tips: wear your swimsuit under your clothes for ease of entering the pools. The pools are clothing optional, but it is very dark, so we never really saw too much or felt uncomfortable even though we opted to wear bathing suits. It’s is not lit very well. So be prepared for that. It’s also very slippery when it’s as cold as it was when we were there. So you may consider some kind of non-slip swim shoe.
Also a word of caution: I don’t recommend bringing anything valuable. My debit card was stolen out of my coat pocket while we were in the pools. I had to cancel it as soon as I realized it. Luckily I noticed it early on. You will need to pay admission if you don’t book a shuttle and they do have water and snacks for purchase. I didn't see any lockers, and the changing room and bathrooms are a little bit of a walk from the pools, so plan accordingly.
Overall it was a great experience and we would do it again!

Perfect outdoor hot springs experience. The bathroom is pretty clean too! Would recommend getting there before sunset, the road can be hard to drive if you’re not used to the area
Tarathorn B — Google review
Swampy, muddy, and discriminatory. This location lacks any semblance of cleanliness. The journey up the rugged terrain, punctuated by massive potholes, poses a risk to any vehicle, even those equipped with 4-wheel drive. Despite the presence of phone lines and electricity, an ATM is notably absent, as confirmed by a staff member. Be sure to bring cash for transactions.
Speaking of staff, individuals may face criticism and harassment based on their weight or ethnicity. In my experience, despite a line of people both ahead and behind me, only my bag was singled out for inspection by a skinny, tall white employee with a goatee. When questioned, he unjustly asserted, "This is private property, and you can leave!" In response, I had to remind him of his obligation to involve the police if necessary, which he failed to do, likely realizing his error. Prepare for a hostile environment if you are overweight, a minority, or both, particularly near the water where selective enforcement and harassment may occur.
Furthermore, the water itself is disgustingly polluted and covered in algae. What may seem picturesque in photographs is tarnished by a thick layer of algae, making every surface dangerously slippery. Sharp pebbles and boulders litter the riverbed, hidden beneath the algae-coated water. Restrooms are inconveniently distant from the water, and the return journey involves navigating a dirt road without sidewalks. The pollution is so severe that I woke up the next day with a sizable blemish under my hairline.
For a superior experience, I highly recommend Old Town Hot Springs. It offers cleanliness without algae, dirt, or dust, along with friendly staff and smooth roads devoid of prejudice or harassment.

Location is definitely an adventure but it’s nothing you can’t handle just come prepared if you are visiting in the winter. The springs are nice and beautiful feels like you are in a movie or a dream especially in the winter time. The train caboose room/cabin is definitely fun and a unique experience would definitely 10/10 recommend. Staff is fun and friendly just listen to their rules and be polite. The whole experience was unique and unbelievable and would definitely recommend to anyone. Will be back yearly

We went midday and had a great time. Our three kids loved the different pools. Restrooms were clean, towels available for rent. Definitely enjoyed this stop on our trip!
Lagoon Amusement Park is a seasonal park that provides visitors with thrilling rides and live shows. In addition to the amusement park, there is also a pioneer village and camping available. The park's theming is not the best due to its focus on providing exciting thrill rides for visitors. Prices are somewhat expensive but manageable.
It was very fun. Lines were short but took longer due to most rides (particularly roller coasters) having only one car going. We had done the South end's coasters first, leading up in intensity to eventually do Cannibal and the more intense rides at the North end of the park. There were visual staffing shortages and a lot of teenage employees. Food prices were okay for an amusement park, ranging from 5 to about 15 dollars. It does become very crowded in the Midway area with people stopping to stand in the middle of the walkway and you were always bumping into other people. Rides were great and entertaining with different levels of thrill ranging from kid rides to very intense rides. Since this is more of a family park, avoiding Kiddieland is very good, avoiding longer lines and a lot of little children. Overall a very great experience, and since I have a season passport I get to go almost every weekend.

Lagoon is a fun place. Lots of rides. It was a hot day but with the water spraying area at the front of the park we cooled right off. They have huge amounts of full grown, beautiful trees to give shade. We went during the week so lines were small. The staff are great! My only concern is the pricing, it is steep. They have added really neat areas and have plans for more that look amazing!!! Hopefully they can figure out some better pricing for everyone. Definitely worth supporting our local theme park! Still a less than going to Disney, but also a smaller scale. Great pools, fun pioneer village, awesome water rides, and of course amazing roller coasters. If you haven't been here try to make it. If it's been years you will be delighted by the new arrivals.

I love this amusement park. There is something for everyone. It gets better every year. It has been open since 1886! That’s 10 years before Utah was even a state! I’ve been enjoying this park since about 1984 as a very young child and have always had a great time. I’ve gone through different friendships throughout those years but cherish all the memories I’ve had with my friends that have come and gone in that time. The prices at the park have really gone up, which is really the only bad thing I could say about the park. I don’t think they need to add a new ride every single year. People will keep coming back regardless. I do recommend this place, but no one really needs my recommendation. People from surrounding states even come here because there are no other amusement parks nearby for hundreds of miles.

I've been to many different theme parks around the country. Lagoon stands out to me because of their operations. They are very quick at keeping lines moving. I was also impressed by the friendliness of the staff. My main complaint is the queue lines. There is hardly any queue space, and the lines constantly spill out onto the midway. They have a world class coaster with Cannibal and many other amazing attractions. It is a very family-friendly park. I was impressed with my visits this summer, and I can't wait to return.

They've really updated the kids area and rides and is just as fun as when I was a kid. Love that they let moms work for season passes as well! Makes the rides go more quickly and smooth too.

We came to Lagoon to attend a company party. It was so amazing. They have rides that accommodate everyone! We had various ages from 0-80 I would say. They all had such a blast. There are some water rides for when you get hot, they have a sky lift type ride that will take you from one side of the park to the other. They have rides for the little ones that will keep them going for hours! The staff is friendly and helpful. The food that was served was good and the rides were well maintained and clean. They have it where those with disabilities can get on rides first, but the lines weren't too long which was nice. My only complaint is the parking is expensive, and they don't have enough attendants at closing to direct traffic so everyone can get out safely. We didn't really buy snacks or gifts so I couldn't tell you how much things cost, but I'm sure they are as expected. Will definitely come again. It is worth the trip for family fun.

Would have been 4 stars but there were a few factors. Minimum of 5 rides broke down/stalled while we were in line for them. Must have been our lot that day or something, but we would wait for 15-20 minutes to see if they would fix it but end up leaving. These rides are getting so old. Other than that, other rides were great.
I'd highly suggest to bring a cooler and sandwiches as it's going to taste WAY better than anything that is offered there. I had minimal time to plan so we decided to just eat there. BIG mistake. Spent $10 for each order and I felt like I was back in high school with the quality of the pizza, hamburger and chicken. Lunch and dinner spent about $60 for 2 adults and children. We spent about $300+ for the 3 of us. If you go twice or more, I'd suggest their season pass. I think their 1 time ticket is a bit more expensive than I think it's worth. But it I'd what it is. 🤷

Lagoon Amusement Park has held its place as an enduring American classic since the late 1800s. The park triumphantly endured a destructive fire in the 1950s and underwent a remarkable metamorphosis, emerging as an expansive attraction that stands on par with esteemed counterparts like Seven Peaks and other renowned amusement parks. With a plethora of rides that can easily fill your entire day with excitement, and come Fall, they host Frightmares, a captivating Halloween-themed spectacle. Lagoon undeniably claims the title of the most enjoyable amusement park for a considerable stretch of miles.

Oof Lagoon - it has my begrudging respect, but it's really way too expensive for what it is. If at all possible, try to buy it as part of a bundle, or what it's really geared for - a season pass for local families. I'd be much more charmed by it if it weren't so expensive! As it is, I really didn't think it was worth it until I rode Cannibal at the end of the day, and that's a properly good ride.
I also really like Colossus, and love that they have two proper haunted houses. They also have dedicated single rider lines for Wicked and Cannibal, which work really well! Make sure you ask if it's chained off. There are two shows - a magician and an Alice in Wonderland pop music show, and both were better than they had any right to be! And the whole pioneer village area is very unique and quiet.
But on the whole - the park is geared towards families, not the biggest thrills. It's trying to be a big park, but acting like a small one - with smeary hand stamps, tickets per ride, short queue lines - it just can't handle big crowds. And on a Thursday, I barely had to wait for anything, not even Cannibal.

I absolutely love coming here with my husband. We don't have any kids, but we still have fun. Just went to frightmares and paid extra to see the show Seance, and that was so crazy and cool! We also got to ride the new ride primordial. We waited in line for 2 hours. It was worth the wait! Never experienced anything like it and absolutely had a blast. We bought some items in their gift shop.

Great park, lots of fun rides. The kids area is almost entirely shaded. You are allowed to bring your own food and drinks in which is a rarity these days. We drive in from out of town multiple times a year to enjoy some family fun!
Fairly short waits for most rides.

I've always loved going to Lagoon! It's been the highlight of my summers growing up, and now my own kids feel the excitement. We haven't been when the water park was open since i was probably 12 (in 30's now) I'm hoping to make it again this summer. The reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because of the wait to get on any of the rides. I know there's only so much a theme park can do about the wait times, but man, I wish the lines weren't 2+ hours at times. Like I mentioned before, we've been going at the beginning of the season, which could have a play in the wait/ridiculous amount of people, but I'm sure it is crammed full of people no matter the time of year. Do theme parks ever set a capacity? Sounds crazy I know, but it's hard to "get your money worth" when the majority of your time is waiting in a line. I LOVE that they let you bring in coolers too. We love having a lagoon picnic at our set up camp.
If we weren't 6 hrs away, a season pass would be a given. That's the way to do it for sure.
This trip we happened to be in SLC and heard the opening day was while we were here, so absolutely we went! Lines weren't too bad (except the new ride of course 😉) and a storm came through so very few of us stayed and at that point, NO LINES! Except we were wet and Freezing 🥶 WORTH IT 😁

I had a lot of fun here! I arrived around 1 and stayed until 9 and still rode most of the coasters. The park wasn't too crowded until the evening time. The rides were thrilling and exciting.
Word of warning: this is an amusement park, not a theme park. The theming is not the best here, because this park is meant for exciting thrill rides.
Prices were okay, but still a bit on the expensive side.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and would come here again for just a select few rides. Especially to ride Cannibal a couple more times! If you're a thrill-seaker, this is a must-ride! The initial 105 degree drop produces an unreal feeling I had never felt up to the point of this ride.

Expensive but plan to spend the entire day here. Tons of ride options and even have a little kid area. Pioneer Village has the popular Rattlesnake Rapids ride (you will get wet!) as well as old buildings to walk around with informational plaques about the history. Ice cream here is fantastic. Lots of eateries everywhere and carnival games to play.

Had a blast! The lines were not to long, I think the longest I waited was about 30 mins which isn't bad honestly. The park was clean, the food was good. The beaver tails were delicious. Cannibal, Wicked, and Colossus were my favorite rides to go on.

We love going to Lagoon each year and always get a season pass. We enjoy that they continue to bring new and innovative rides to the park. I visited Lagoon on the opening day of its 2024 season. The park was busy, but most notably the staff felt well trained, friendly, and ready to go for its first day of operation. Cannibal and Primordial are must dos, and the park offers “old school” rides that really set it apart. We had lunch at the Biergarten which offered great food and a large selection of drinks. I look forward to someday returning to this unique amusement park.

Frightmares is the best time to go to Lagoon. We had a blast in the haunted houses we went through (5 out of 8) and absolutely loved the SEANCE and Lore live performances. SEANCE was worth the extra money - such a great experience - and Larson, Ryan, and Curtis went out of their way to accommodate the wheelchair user in our group. I noticed many people among the staff paying special attention and care to our ADA needs throughout the park, and I was very impressed and thankful. It's been a few years since I've been to Lagoon, and it remains my favorite amusement park. I can't wait to come back next year!

Lagoon is such a fun place to go and ride rides for all ages! We went on a day that wasn’t really busy, but we waited 1 hour and 45 minutes to ride their new ride they have. The price per ticket was a little bit expensive for what we got out of it.

first time being here after leaving across the highway for four years. the new primordial ride is a unique and thrilling ride I've never been on. It's a combo of a roller coaster, interactive, and unpredictable ride. It's a must but damn, we were almost in line for two hours! this was on a Saturday... It's fun, it's cool, and it's crowded. Be prepared, come early, & a pro tip: bring something to do while you wait in line like trivia cards or the flip up phone game.

Antelope Island State Park is the largest island in the Great Salt Lake and boasts of white-sand beaches, migratory birds, and a herd of American bison. Visitors can take a peaceful walk through its wilderness to spot free-roaming bison, mule deer, antelope, bighorn sheep, and a variety of migratory birds feasting on brine shrimp along the shore. The park hosts annual wildlife spectacles like the November buffalo roundup for veterinary examinations.

Beautiful park! Take your time to drive through the island in search for bisons and antelopes. The views are stunning! Dogs are not allowed on the beach. Make sure to check if it’s mosquito season and bring some repellent. There are several trails, with some easy options. Bring plenty of water with you as it can get very hot during the day. We saw the park on YouTube watching a Venture Addicts Destinations Explained video about Salt Lake City. We went there to see the antelope and bison. We didn't see any antelope, but the bison put on a show. We saw one bison at first, then a small group, but eventually drove into several herds of them. Some just casually crossing the road in front and behind our vehicle. We also got several good views of the lake, what's left of it. I was kind of sad to see how much the Great Salt Lake shrunk. The YouTube video did mention the odor and number of flies on the island. The odor wasn’t that bad, but the flies (aka no-see-ums/midges) were an issue. Returning to the city after sunset was a problem. There were so many of them on the causeway that our car and windshield were covered with them. Luckily there was a gas station after you exit the causeway where we could clean our windshield. I still recommend going there to see the bison and lake. The sunset views were from Buffalo Point were amazing.

It has some information about the wildlife around salt lake. People who are interested in wildlife photography, this is a must place to try it out. Various number of species fly/migrate here. Watch out for those bisons on road they are almost everywhere in the park.

Beautiful views of the mountain and beach area. Got to see the Buffalo but not any Antelope. I don't think we went high enough into the mountains. Checked out the ranch but there was no guide to explain any of the things we were seeing. The mosquitoes were off the chain! Had to use the outhouse style bathroom and although it was clean, mosquitoes tore my buttocks up. Lol. Hiking trail near bathroom wasn't difficult but that walk to the beachfront was something else. Sand gnats everywhere. They didn't bite though. Bar & Grill on beach was closed the day we went. Took us a little over an hour to get there from Salt Lake City. There is a fee per car but only $15. You drive most trails but they did have a few walking. You can also camp there in RVs or tents.

Highly highly recommend visiting!! This was some of the most beautiful and diverse terrain all in one location. We travelled with our 3 dogs so didn’t do a lot of the hiking trails but still were able to see plenty of buffalo and sights! So much fun. Only disappointed that there are seasonal road closures 🤷🏼♀️

Someone suggested I visit this place when I had time. Had 4 hrs to burn so made it out here and OMG this place is so peaceful and beautiful!
Only drove through and walked around Visiter Center and the Ranch but there is sooooo much more to do here! There’s a bunch of hiking/biking trails, camping grounds, horseback riding, and I’m sure a bunch more but 4hrs wasn’t enough!
Don’t think I’d go hiking since there’s a possibility you’ll cross a Bisons path. I will definitely come back to horseback ride when I have at least a whole day to spend!
$15 to drive your car in.

Antelope Island is great in the fall, winter, and spring! Summer has a lot of bugs, but the trails are fun to ride and you'll sometimes see bison, deer, and big horn sheep.

Cool Utah state park with a cafe that serves bison burgers. Also plenty of camping, hiking, & biking options. Horseback riding is also available but refer to website for complete details. Don’t pet the bison!

It’s a great day trip with great views. The visitors center has lots of great information on the wildlife, plants, and good walks/hikes to go on. Be prepared for lots of bugs and insects.
Stunning park! And super chill! You can park at each of the hikes, so they are easy to get to. The hikes vary in difficulty, so there's something for nearly everyone.
Things to know:
- many of the hikes are in full sun for the day, so plan on sunscreen and water, especially if you are going during warm/ hot times of year.
- the Visitor Center has a water bottle refill station outside at the front, so it is easy to get to
- Parking can get difficult as the park gets more crowded (this is a pretty quiet national park, especially when compared to Zions and Bryce). Try to get some hikes in early and later (which is better for the heat as well)
- the dirt is loose and light, so it kicks up with every step. You will be dirty almost immediately. Wear socks with closed toe shoes rather than hiking sandals to keep your feet from getting really gross.

An unrated national park. Beautiful picnic area and hikes. The Sulfur Creek hike was similar to the narrows hike at Zion but much shallower. Walking upstream, the first waterfall is difficult to climb up if you’re not agile. Recommend starting the hike from upstream. Going down the waterfalls is much easier. Hiked a little more than 1/3 of the creek, which took about 2 hours, we only saw 6 other hikers. It was shocking how uncrowded this park was compared to Zion.

Good interesting visitor centre, but the best deal here is the ranger program. Especially the evening program we attended about creatures of the night was fabulous. This was hosted by Ranger Jeff, who is an example of how rangers should be, enthusiastic, informative friendly and knowledgeable. A true example. He even ended the session with a theme matching song just fabulous.

A kid's paradise with grassy areas and hills near the campsites (at least on the B Loop). Most of the hikes had elements for kid's to climb on and hide in. Go early to get your pies and cinnamon rolls at the Gifford House; we got some the 3rd day but all three days we were there they sold out by 1 PM.

This is the most underrated park. There’s so much to do in this national park but for some reasons it’s not as much explored. There’s a hike between the canyons when you do the tanks. The Hickman bridge and Casidy Arch are such good hikes. The scenic drive is so worth it. The visitors center has free wifi too. There are some petroglyphs in the wall too and very old school that you could see. There’s a ranch and Gifford Home museum which was amusing inside the park. The park has so much to offer. It’s not leas than Zion.

The road construction on UT - 64 made getting to and from the park a little tedious but once at the park it is worth the road time.
The visitors center is small but the Rangers are very helpful with the do's and don'ts at the park. Safety of visitors is a priority.
There are lots of up and down trails so suggest good hiking shoes and maybe a walking stick. (one fellow had flip/flops, he did not do well) The scenery is spectacular. We spent two and a half days and could have spent one more day nosing around the trails. The weather can be a little iffy so check with the Rangers on what trails are open. over a beautiful view of nature.
I only hope it can be preserved for future generations!

Great little visitor's center to stop to get some memorabilia and take a break from hiking. They have a little section talking about the history and geology of the park that's pretty interesting. The bathrooms are not 24/7, so be sure to get your dumps in before they close. You can refill on water out front as well.

Very friendly and helpful rangers here. They were the most enthusiastic out of all the national parks in Utah! They really have a passion for this park.
Here you can buy souvenirs, see a movie about the area and walk through a small museum where you can learn about the area and how it came to be.

I can't say enough about this NP. Views are STUNNING in every direction. Clean campsites, heated toilets, nice trail hikes. This place is a hidden gem.

Busy! Nice little visitor center. Should have been designed with more parking. Photos of Castle rock which is seen from visitors center. A wonderful hike leaves from behind the vistors center down into the wash.

Capitol Reef National Park is a true gem. The Visitor Center itself is staffed by knowledgeable and social folks who are happy to answer any questions about the area you may have. Information about hikes or a scenic drive can be found in the Visitor Center. So if you need a break before or after a day at Capitol Reef, be sure and stop into the visitor center for a look around and a quick break.

Beautiful and very informative.
The place was large and had so many options for you to look at and buy. I was very impressed with the things they had to offer.
However I wish I would have researched capital reef better because I had no idea how different it is than the other parks in Utah.
It felt like we drove around the park rather than through it. Many washouts and rough roads that seemed to go forever.
If I had a 4x4 I think I would have been in heaven.
The HwY next to the park was more spectacular and also has petroglyphs and I got to pet some horses.
Also they close very early. The place was packed with people and they still closed on time kicking out quite literally 100’s of people. It’s a government job so they can’t bend things but they should stay open a tad more!
The t shirt selection was slim compared to the information area. And I felt they didn’t have the latest designs compared to Arches and Zion but it is a much different park and less visitors I suppose

We really enjoyed Capitol Reef! Especially the petroglyphs and the hike up to Hickman's Bridge. We visited during the week in early March and realized we were gambling with the weather but in the end it was perfect!

Loved this National Park! We started at the visitor center, then went to the Grand Wash and jumped out of our car to explore the boulders and the old mines.
Then we headed over to Hickman's Bridge and enjoyed a wonderful hike up. There were very few purple on the trail, and the weather ended up being really pleasant despite the 39° forecast!
The fall colors made this trip so special. We headed back to the visitor center and watched the very informative 15-minute movie about the park's history, then our girls got their Jr Ranger badges, and we are on to the next park.

Wonderful way to start off a Capitol Reef visit. Situated in the heart of the National Park and close to many trails. You can get information to make sure you choose the right adventures.

Brilliant! Really useful information including a video showing the formation of the continents over millions of years and a good 18 minute film about the way that water has shaped the landscape.
A superior collection of souvenirs including a range of jigsaws, books, mugs and badges - not to mention Utah-specific Yahtzee!
Everyone we spoke to was very welcoming and the toilets were immaculate.

Always the perfect way to start your adventure into Capital Reef.
The rangers are always helpful to help plan your day. Whether you are here for an hour or for days. They will not steer you wrong!
The bookstore is also located here where you can get your passport stamped and pick up a few souvenirs.
The entrance fee is on the honor system!

Love Capitol Reef NP. Visitor center is small but packed with information. Rangers super knowledgeable. Interesting history. Some historical buildings to visit in the park. Scenic drive is a must. Try to stop at all the overlooks. Wide range of trails from easy to strenuous. Even worse in the heat of the day. Over 90F every day we were there. Great rock formations. Hope you have time to hike the Capitol Gorge Trail. Be sure to get excellent fresh pie at Gifford Farm House. And they have ice cream cups! Loads of petroglyphs.
UT-12 is a scenic byway that stretches between Escalante and Loa, near Capitol Reef National Park. The route offers stunning views and photo opportunities, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and photographers. As you drive along UT-12, be prepared to capture the breathtaking landscapes and natural beauty of the area. Whether it's the rugged terrain or the expansive vistas, this road trip promises an unforgettable journey through Utah's picturesque scenery.

Scenic red stone park marked by 67 monolithic spires, popular for hiking, biking & horseback riding.
Loved this park! Rock formations reallycool. Nice hike around campground. You can drive out of park on dirt road...better with 4x4! To see Chimney rock and a couple of other hiking areas. Definitely worth the drive.

We stayed at Kodachrome for 3 nights while visiting Zion and Bryce NP. It was a great stay. The park store had souvenirs as well as drinks and ice cream (which was nice after a long hot summer day!) The staff were all very friendly. The showers felt luxurious for a state park- what a treat! They also had a very clean and nice laundromat which was great for us on a long road trip. They also have a disc golf course which my husband loved! We didn’t have time to go on any hikes, but we did drive around and it was so beautiful. It was nice to come here after a crowded day at the national parks and feel like you have the views to yourself. Two of the loops are on gravel roads and only have a vault toilet. Try to get the full hookup loop if possible (it’s more scenic, has a paved road, and it’s where the showers are). Thank you Kodachrome for a great stay!

I was dying to come to Kodachrome for ages. I’m a photography hobbyist and only had time and energy to do Angel’s Palace, and lemme tell you. I enjoyed every second at this park! I got the ice cream sold at the visitor’s center (the black raspberry chip flavor was 10/10) and filled up my water pack with cold water as well. They sell a variety of snacks here that I’ve never seen at any state or National park before. The fee was so reasonable and the bathrooms were great. Everything was so well maintained and it was not at all crowded. There were a few dogs and they were all leashed and enjoying their walks. This is probably my most favorite park out of the 20 or so I’ve been to in my lifetime. I will be back to camp on-site and do more hikes in the near future! Don’t miss out on this fantastic park. The pictures I took were just from my phone but I’ll try to update with pictures from my SLR!

Beautiful area just minutes from Bryce canyon NP. Much nicer campsites here than Bryce. Some are even full hookups. Nice clean bathrooms and showers. The scenery is fabulous.

We wanted to stop here and finally did it! What a great park. The staff was so nice. They have 3 campgrounds in the park as well as hot showers. Some of the RV sites have full hookups. We hiked several of the trails. It was amazing. We feedings want to come back and stay in the campground for 4 or 5 days so we can see more of the park. You are really close to Bryce Canyon and Grand Staircase-Escalante. This is a great middle point and is not to be missed.

Wow!! What a beautiful campground! Sites are huge , tons of privacy between sites. Dirt roads, so dusty. Wonderful staff. Views to die for. Good stop between Canyonlands and Bryce Canyon National Parks. Double check before booking, our loop did not have showers or flush toilets. If ever in this area again, will be back.

We only had a chance to spend a short time in the park but fell in love with its beauty. The ability to drive so close to the very impressive rock formations gives it an advantage over Bryce. It's a more up close and personal experience rather than walking to a grand view. It is very worth going the extra drive to see it.

I really enjoyed my time here. I started with a 2hr horseback riding tour. My guide was awesome and I had a blast. Honestly - it costs way less than the nearby national park rides... And there are less riders in each group. The views are breathtaking.
I hiked Angel's Palace, which is super worth it for a pretty quick hike.
Very, VERY nice showers for a campground, too! Love this park.

The basin campground is fantastic - bathrooms are centrally located, showers are amazing, the grounds are clean and the views are amazing! We tent camped and there isn't a lot of shade, but it dropped to the 50s overnight and we slept well.
The roads to the park and inside the campgrounds are good, but many of the other roads - especially to Chimney Rock - are a little sketch. Sedans not recommended!

This is a beautiful camping area. The state park has created a comfortable place to camp. It's quiet even though the sites are fairly close together. It's clean and well maintained. The hiking close by is excellent. Bicycles are allowed on the trails.

Gorgeous red rock everywhere you look. All the hiking trails are loops which is really nice. The Grand Parade trail was just short enough for 2- 10yr old girls, a Chihuahua and Weimaraner. This trail follows the base of the hoodoos for a ground level view. We would have done the panorama trail if we had enough time. The nature trail was fun and informative.
There is camping, dry cleaning, restrooms, horse riding all in the park. Book early for camp sites. BLM land surrounds the park and camping is free there. Follow all dispersed camping rules and watch fire restrictions.

Kodachrome has the name for sure. Utah state parks are well done. Great looking campground (didn't stay, just visited).
The area was as outstanding as the Grand Staircase Escalante NP. Rough road to chimney rock and Shakespeare arch trail, but were very awesome sights. The different hikes were equally awesome and easy hikes. We were here in early October and temps were in the low 70's, and pretty much had the place to ourselves..great for hiking... and dogs on leash allowed!

Remote and beautiful. Lots of hoodoos, near Bryce Canyon, and Grosvenor's Arch just down the road. Stayed at Bryce's View campground, wide open Fields with pinions and cedar trees, great views of the red and white Cliffs. Best showers I've ever had at a park, better than my own I think LOL

We stopped here on a whim after seeing a sign & WOW I’m so glad we did. Definitely one of the underrated state parks in Utah. We did Angel’s Palace Trail — which might not be the best if you’re afraid of heights or exposure, but was an absolute blast for us. All of the rangers were very helpful, & the bathrooms & amenities on-site were clean & well-maintained. We’ll definitely be back to camp here.

Peaceful. Quiet. Gorgeous! The perfect attributes for a 3-night respite between National Parks. Our spot was right off the loop at the Basin Campground, but never felt busy (aside from a few folks who stopped to gawk/photograph the unique spire looming over our site). Steve, the camp host, was lovely and really fun to chat with. We'll definitely return to this gem!

This place is beautiful. I only spent two days here but what a place. Definitely come here during the spring time when it is cooler and there's less people here. The sites are beautiful and there are some cool things to see. On the panorama trail there is a Indian cave with these hand prints that are so cool. Also, there's a lot of these pillars around Kodachrome and I was told they are from old geysers. The angles place hike is a fun short hike that allows you to look over at most of the park. I also loved the cool cave hike because the reward at the end is cool shade (also a cool cave). Kodachrome basin has some other awesome things like on the secret loop part of the panorama trail there is a place called hat shop. Hat shop, is really interesting because there is a bunch of pillars that have what looks like hats. Love this place and I would come again.

We camped one night here and were unable to do any of the trails. However, the campsite was great. It was quiet and easy to find. The staff were very friendly. Bathrooms were clean and the showers were awesome! I’ve never camped somewhere with a shower as nice as this. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend it to others.

Kodachrome is off the beaten path and well worth the visit. There is an incredible 18 hole disc golf course, the back nine is super crazy and one of the most challenging courses I’ve played. Great hiking, biking and walking trails. Horseback riding tours are also available.

So much fun to hike/explore. Staff was nice. Bathrooms were clean. They have a super fun archery course, and Frisbee golf set up. The visitor center is set up to relax in fun chairs, play corn hole or sit around a fire. Super fun.

Such a cool place to ride your horse! I had a lot of fun. Not the typical Bryce canyon ride but it is absolutely beautiful! I would definitely do it again!

I'm not usually a campground person but being able to get a walk up reservation in a quiet site with a view made this an excellent experience. The clean restrooms, outstanding showers and large clear laundry room made this even better. Best yet were the trails. The staff were great too! WiFi was a bonus. Thanks
