There is so much more to see here then we ever expected!!! The admission was just $5 for adults and we saw and learned so much while here. There are artifacts from many different decades to experience and learned about as well as helpful videos. And to top it off, you can see and walk through and old paddle wheel boat. All the parts are marked and explained as you got through it. Truly just a great little museum. We expected to be there half an hour and ended up spending almost two hours inside.

Very cool museum the lone star boat was really neat! Actually walking all around that boat was cool! Lots of history!
Apple Campbell — Google review
The buffalo bill museum is a well put together exhibition of the rich local history. I talked the the gentleman who runs the museum and he was welcoming, knowledgeable, and passionate. They have some excellent memorabilia and artifacts. One of my favorite parts is the restored wooden steamboat. It's an incredibly interesting exhibit to explore. Worth the stop. I would recommend having at least an hour or more.
John Cermak — Google review
Really interesting artifacts! We happened upon this place by accident but it was worth it! The old boat they have displayed is very cool!

Ran into a man at a little food shop down the road and was talking to him about attractions in the area. He recommended this place and we told him that we would probably go check it out after lunch and we did.
We pull up and there he is, walking us in telling us that he is the current president on the board of this museum.
We go in and he pays for my family of 5 admittance. We took the tour, my kids did the scavenger hunt and the whole experience was Great!
A lot of information and very cool exhibits in this place. The boat was very neat.
My whole family enjoyed it.
Thank you for a wonderful experience👍

An interesting mix of artefacts from the area spanning the last 200 years or so. It sometimes feels like a trek through grandma and grandpa's attic, but hey, what's not to like about poking around in an attic? The old tug Lone Star was fascinating to meander through, and the staff were all very friendly.

There is a lot to see here, not just about Buffalo Bill Cody, but also about the town of Le Claire itself. You'll pay about $5 to get in and it's well worth it. Take your time and explore. Don't forget to have a look at the old school house at the other end of the museum.
Tommy Mac — Google review
We had a great time! We had 4 kids (age 7-11) and there were so many fun things to check out. The one room school house and boat deck were the faves. Also impressive how many old timey celebrities have ties to Iowa and Illinois. This is a great experience (also adding a meal at happy joes and checking the river front after make for a great outing!)
Jenna Ingelson — Google review
This was a very cool little museum with lots of history packed inside. Was only $5 to get in and worth every penny. Growing up with a father that worked on the illinois and Mississippi River it brought back a flood of memories. First picture is one of many boats that my father worked on. Captain David Todd is his name. Sadly he passed away in 2020
Joseph Todd — Google review
This place is phenomenal. There is more to it than Buffalo Bill, there are also other exhibits about other famous people from Le Claire which I found very interesting. There's also exhibits showcasing local history including antique tools, photographs, textile work, and even a cute little corner about the local high school. The preserved steam boat is astounding and you can walk around inside of it and check out the engines and quarters and things. There's also a one room schoolhouse replication and the history behind that. This isn't just a museum, it's evidence of small town pride trickling through generations.
Leah Farrey — Google review
Very cool museum. Buffalo Bill was born there, and there is a tremendous amount of Buffalo Bill history. There is also a good amount of Le Claire history, as well as river history. We very much enjoyed it. If you're in the area and like history, this is a very good stop. Highly recommend.
Jeremy Patnaude — Google review
This is a great museum. Lots of interesting information and artifacts. It wasn't crowded and I was able to take my time. Being able to go aboard the river boat was fun and educational.
Denise — Google review
Kid friendly, they have interactive displays, a large actually retired steamboat to explore, a one room school house, and videos as well. I learned a lot and so did my teenage son that's usually on his phone. So win! They do have a small gift shop which I liked that helps support them.
Jay Sylvain — Google review
We heard from family that this was a neat stop. My kids don't generally do well with museums, but figured it was inexpensive and worth a shot.
There was no wait at all. We walked in and the front desk greeted us gleefully. We paid and she started telling us how to navigate. Then, she breaks out scavenger hunt sheets for the kids!! They've never been more excited to explore a museum in their life. There was plenty of artifacts from history about not only Buffalo Bill, but other historical figures & events of the town.
I love aviation and the father of the 'Black Box was from the area, so they have a few of his early pieces on display!
We thought this was going to be a quick 20 minute stop and we walked around for over an hour, and we could have easily spent another half hour or more watching the educational videos about the displays.
Overall, it's very affordable and worth the time. I definitely recommend the stop!
Elegant, triple-decked riverboat for day, overnight & sightseeing cruises with dining.
Really great experience. The subtle vibration of the boat and the gentle sway of the Mississippi are very relaxing! Crew is friendly and knowledgeable. Food is good and there is too much of it. The Twilight is beautifully appointed, with many decorative features. There is WiFi onboard. We booked the 2 day cruise and I have learned a ton about the Mississippi river culture that I was not expecting. Overnight stay is at the Grand Harbor Resort and water park; great for kids to bring a swimsuit.

Riverboat Twilight - Mississippi River Cruise! Some pictures of my 2 day cruse on the Mississippi from Le Claire Iowa to Dubuque Iowa. Great people, good food and wonderful memories! I loved the entertainment! As we traveled up the river the tree colors were just beautiful. I learned so much about the Mississippi and life on the river! If you have ever thought about taking this trip I highly recommend you go! 😊👍👍👍

Loved the 2 day cruise. The food is amazing and plentiful. If you go hungry, it's your own fault. The Captain is very knowledgeable of sites along the river.
Todd Lawson — Google review
This is a great trip! The boat is beautiful, the food is delicious, the captain is very knowledgeable about the river, and the staff works very hard and is friendly. Scenery is exceptional. Eagles, pelicans, and gulls are plentiful. I love how the captain points out all the interesting things, wildlife, tows, and history of the river. It is a great place to relax and ride.
I have taken this trip 2 times now and also the 1 day trip in the fall. I recommend highly.

Very relaxing cruise with wonderful staff! They go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. Food is excellent and they will make accommodations for dietary needs if you communicate that ahead of time! We did a full day trip and it was enjoyable. It was a very hot day but if you sit on the shaded side of the boat, it is quite pleasant. Boat is air conditioned if you get too hot. Definitely see lots of eagles and even pelicans on the cruise. We will be back!
C L — Google review
We took the Saturday morning cruise up to Guttenburg and back. The captain gave a lot of cool information about the history along the river. We saw about 30 bald eagles. The inside was air conditioned if you got hot. Nice light breakfast and then a mid morning snack. The brisket for lunch wasn't so hot, but the desserts were yummiest. We stopped in Guttenberg and strolled the quaint town and had ice cream at Joe's Pizza and Ice Cream. All in all it was a very relaxing and beautiful ride on the river.
Darren M — Google review
Very relaxing enjoyable trip up and down the Mississippi. The captain was very informative. Saw lots of eagles. The food was very good. Always something to snack on. Entertainment was good. Spent the night in Dubuque and that was smooth. As advertised luggage was in the room waiting when we got there.
Plenty of seating on 3 decks to enjoy the outside. I would definitely recommend this trip.

We had a lot of fun. We were on the 1 1/2 hour ride that started at 1:30 PM
I am fairly new to the area and I quickly fell in love with the river so this cruise was very exciting to me.
We sat on the top deck in rocking chairs, just relaxing and chatting with the other passengers. We all decided we wanted a drink and we all got a Mississippi Mudd Slide, it was amazing. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves!
Elizabeth Couch (Kitty) — Google review
I'm a quad city native i've been on this boat several times. It's a very fun and family oriented. I wish I would do longer cruises on this ship. They also accommodate having a service dog, and I really appreciate that. Definitely Encourage reservations. Tickets sell quickly.

The last two days have been wonderful. This company really does a great job of showing their customers a good time. If you've never been on a cruise and a little nervous, give them a try. You'll be sold.

Took the day trip from Dubuque to Guttenberg and it was a great day. The food served was phenomenal. Beautiful ship and a nice way to see and learn some things about the river. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing boat ride! Mom always wanted to see the Mississippi River so we made the roadtrip to Iowa from burbs of Chicago (such an easy little road trip!). A 90 minute 3 decker boat ride was $20.00 per person- smooth wonderful ride & plenty for chairs! Drinks on the top deck! The Captain was very informative & a wealth of information. So glad we made the trip, mom's grin & happy relaxed face said it all! Thank you to all who take care of all of us visitors!!

This is a must. Book in advance and enjoy a two day trip. We had the best weather, the crew was amazing. We played a trivia game and there was live music. There was so much food I was stuffed like a turkey by the second day

The Riverboat Cruise was something that I'd wanted to do for years I would say over 5 years and I was glad I was able to do this 90 minute cruise it was a little over $20 a person it was about an hour going up the river going to Princeton Iowa and then it was about 30 minutes going down the river with the current. I really enjoyed this it was Scenic it was interesting
I think this would be something anyone who wants to experience more of the Mississippi River but doesn't want to spend the day or a day and a half and hundreds of dollars doing this would be a good way to get your toe in the water :-) It was safe staff was friendly I'm really glad I went and would highly recommend

Really relaxing and informative cruise on the Twilight.
Captain Kevin would point out wildlife (Bald Eagles, Pelicans, Coots, and many more) using the ships P.A. along with pointing out information about the barges we passed, and the train bridges, and the locks.
We took the 2 day cruise that starts in Le Claire, Iowa and goes north to Dubuque, Iowa.
The staff assigns a table to you as you board the Twilight which is yours for the duration of the cruise. They fed us a continental breakfast, snack, a plated lunch, another snack, and a plated dinner on the first day. The food was pretty good!
We stayed overnight at a hotel in Dubuque and had Breakfast at Tony Roma's. Then back on board we had a snack, plated lunch, another snack, and a plated dinner.
All the crew is friendly and very helpful. There is a well stocked small bar on the 3rd deck with many different beers. And they have souvenir glasses you can buy for your mixed drinks or wine.
The gift shop is open like an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. There was magnets, key chains, light jackets, t-shirts, blankets, and other fun things branded with Riverboat Twilight embroidery.
Make sure to up on the 4th level to the pilot house, and look at the big wooden steering wheel.
Totally recommend the Riverboat Twilight as a relaxing 2 days.
It’s cool when you pull up and recognize the store and the old car out front. It’s pretty cool in both stores recognizing the picks from various episodes. This store is more recognizable than the Nashville store and it’s a good way to spend an hour or so. Lots of souvenirs to purchase. I was kind of hoping Mike would be there. But again we missed him. Nobody was at the Nashville store either about a year ago. Still if you’re a fan of American Pickers this is a cool stop if you’re in the area. Also, LeClaire is beautiful too!!!
Paul Lamison — Google review
Great place to visit if you're a fan of American Pickers, it's very clean and neat because they still film new episodes there. I like their t-shirts & stickers, staff was very polite and evenly told me about Franks recovery progress.
I will be back soon,LaClaire is a beautiful little town on the Mississippi River.
Konrad AmunRa — Google review
Hubs was wishing more of the big items were for sale, but all in all it was a fun excursion! Loved the Nashville shop and so glad we finally made it to Le Claire!
Kaitlin Winn — Google review
It's a cool stop if you're a Pickers fan. Expect it to be set up more like a mini museum and gift shop. We'd already been to the Nashville location and knew what to expect. There's something extra special about coming to the original location in LeClaire. Some employees were just stocking merchandise, but a few were very knowledgeable and could answer questions about some unique items.
R Davis — Google review
The store is literally 5-10 minutes off the interstate and very easily accessible. This is a TELEVISION SHOW location! There are souvenirs for the show and some items they’ve picked that are for sale. If you are looking to pick through lots of rusty gold go do what Mike & Frank do… this is more of an homage to the show which I enjoyed immensely with my 7 year old daughter.

It was neat to see many of the items that they have picked on the shows! The larger facility was not open to the public when I went due to shooting part of the show but the smaller shop was so quaint. The staff were super helpful and friendly!

Wow, very neat store with some excellent displays and things to b buy. Fun to look around. Cool stuff. If you like the tv show American Pickers, this is them. Another location in Nashville. This store in Iowa is just minutes off the freeway.

Great antique store. Fun to poke through. Right on the Mississippi River.
John P — Google review
The newer building is mostly souvenirs. The older building is more like a museum with most "cool" things being not for sale. Still fun to see just once.

Located in the small town of LeClaire Iowa along the Mississippi River.
This store is the home to the TV series American Pickers. You will see many items featured in the show that are either for sale or just in display.
Most items were not for sake but it was fun to look at and browse. They sell many souvenir items such as tshirts, keychains, etc.

Very interesting museum, lots of different areas of exhibitions. 3 stories and there is an elevator. Loved the boutique shop which had so many wonderful art pieces for purchase. If you have an afternoon to spare you should really visit…..you’ll be glad you did. So very nice!

This was a really nice experience. Floor upon floor of exhibits. On our visit we saw the amazing Women in Sports over the years exhibit. The clothing worn for each sport was highlighted and displayed. It was fascinating. Stop in the gift shop on your way out! Friendly staff and there are activities for kids and a place where they can do art projects.

Last year I went to the Figge for the first time for our Art Educators of Iowa concert and I was absolutely flabbergasted about why I’d never been before. First, the were excellent hosts for our conference but I really want to compliment the curators. When I had visited there was a very diverse showcase of artists, and they were also honoring Dia de los Muertos. The space is large enough to spend an afternoon looking and learning about the artwork. I would recommend looking for any events that they host in the gallery as well; we participated in a sound bath meditation that was really special.

As artists ourselves we were pleasantly surprised at the artworks on exhibit! Excellent * we enjoyed it very much! An added bonus - it was a free entry for seniors and they also had entertainment by the UNI dancers which was very nice!

We went to the women and sports through history which was fascinating, we went to the wizard of oz exhibit which was to die for as an avid collector of all things oz! They also did a Buddhist relic tour once that was soo moving! Great space for hosting private events and they also show films from time to time that are fascinating!

The Putnam Museum and Science Center is a historic venue that features natural history and science exhibits, as well as films and performances. Unfortunately, the museum has been impacted by COVID shutdowns, which has led to a lack of new displays and certain areas being blocked off or sparsely populated. However, the museum recently showcased a fascinating motorcycle exhibit called "Winter Wheels." Let's hope that attendance increases in the near future so that more of the museum can be utilized.

This is a fantastic fun educational place, definitely field trip worthy. If you have children no matter the age bring them here before you leave town. Plan to spend several hours.
Through the Looking Glass — Google review
The Putnam is a fun museum for kids, but it seems to be suffering from the affects of COVID shutdowns. What I mean by that is that they don't have much of anything new and parts of the museum are either blocked off or sparsely populated with displays. I can only assume this has been caused by shutdowns and lack of attendance upon reopening. I hope they are able to utilize more of the museum in the near future and that attendance will likewise increase. They did have a cool "Winter Wheels" motorcycle display on our most recent visit, of which I have attached photos.

Our local library got a quad cities fun card so we decided to come and visit the science center! There were so many interactive activities for kids. It wasn’t that busy either which was very nice. Plenty of parking as well. Nice gift shop available too. The junk boat was my favorite part! It’s worth checking out!

I highly recommend visiting the Putnam! We enjoyed our time and all the many exhibits - there is sooo much to see!! The interactive Science area was the kids' favorite part. There wasn't anyone else in the museum this past week when we visited, which surprised us.
Plan for at least 3 hours, unless you have kids, they don't care about reading and prefer the activities.
My only small complaint is that they need more public bathrooms throughout. And maybe they are there and we just didn't find them.

The museum has outstanding exhibits. Our community is so fortunate with the Egyptian collection. Now the museum’s curator Christina Kastell is hosting an educational tour to Egypt in June 2024 with Asst Professor Onnica Marquez of St Ambrose University.
I have attended 2 travelogue meetings at the museum in the beautiful Lardner Balcony. Mrs Marquez even hired a professional belly dancer to demonstrate the dance form!

Museum is a potpourri of information on many topics, including local history, industry, wildlife, soil types and farming, science, ancient history, and different cultures. There was a lot of reading and standing required. We would have appreciated some short movies that bring the people and stories to life. Overall learned a lot about the history of the area and it’s peoples. We visited about 3 hours. Admission required.

Buffet was sad for a price 30.00 meal. Prime rib overcook, Soup was disgusting coagulated half cooked prefab mess . The chicken was overcooked, the serve staff(not wait staff) was overstressed and undermanned- It was ridiculous. I felt sorry for them. Half of the food items offered were empty or dried out and often mislabeled. I was a waiter at one time so I can give them a break but come on Bally's get your act together. One thing positive to say they finally added so low sugar desert options which should have been present from the get go considering they clientele often were older and likely more often than not have dietary concerns including diabetes. This is why they got a two star and not a one.

First they sent us to a room that the key didn't work. Maintenance came up and got us into the room. Ten minutes later they called saying they put us in the wrong room. Moved us to an identical room on another floor. Said they reserved the room to someone else the following day. It was identical room on a different floor. Then climate control only put out cold air. Wall paper was peeling off. Handle on restroom door was ready to fall off. Shower was great. Priced to high

We ate buffet and played slots. Not overly impressed with anything or any staff. Waitress in buffet was the only one friendly. No valet, old people need that, cold or hot! Parking has always been awful there. The 2 minute competition games were very unorganized to a stranger and the 2 girls running it tried to ignore me asking where and what to do. They were busy talking together and laughing. People in line were more helpful. Sorry to complain as I love to have fun!

Went here for anniversary. Was really not impressed. The buffet closed at 5 on Sunday. The sports bar was nice for a quick bite. Our waitress was awesome, wish I could remember her name. Slots were very tight

I didn't have too good of an experience. In the time I spent there I did not see very any people "winning". I understand its gambling but out of everyone there during the time I was most casinos would of shown some significant wins. But I didn't see a single hand pay or even heard about anyone getting g a big win. Now that doesn't mean it didn't happen but it explained why there wasn't as many people ther. For the amount I played I should of had more than 1 win over $20. Needless to say I will go "across" town to another casino before I come back here.

Had a great time! Room was nice. Casino let me play for awhile, that's nice, the machines in this area have been sooo tight for the past year.

It's a casino. There is 1 purpose and 1 purpose only. For you to leave your money behind to work harder and longer to do it all again. Like shampoo and conditioner. ....Rinse and repeat... Though I do not gamble with my money, I enjoyed my time there very much.
Thank you staff for
a pleasant experience

We were very impressed with this casino. The rooms were clean and very good-sized. All the staff were very friendly and helpful 🙂 The food was very good. Friday fish fry was very good, cod done to a tea. The salmon was some of the best I have tasted 😋 The casino is smoke-free, and we were able to play the slots. The slots allowed us to play and get some bonus. We were all happy we stayed here. Definitely will be back.

I love their buffet. The brunch buffet is amazing. Everything from bacon and eggs to prime rib and all the side dishes. We were there for Mother's Day and the place was very busy, but the staff kept up with everything from serving food to clearing tables. I'm not into gambling, however my wife is and she is very happy with Bally's. We recommend this business.

First time there I thought it would be a little loud since it has a major casino in it as well but was surprised how quiet it was in the rooms, does have room for truck parking but could have a number to call front desk for truck drivers to call and and maybe send a valet golf cart driver to pick the driver up, it is a bit of a walk for truck drivers. No complaints just a suggestion. Thx.

I'm a travel nurse and was thoroughly enjoying going to Bally's quad cities every 2 weeks when I had some down time. I was receiving some great deals/offers via email and snail mail making it possible for me to afford to stay a couple days and play. Then in June the offers stopped... so I stopped going. Guess they can thank the marketing department for ending my visits.
Regarding my stay. Most of the staff made it fun. Housekeeping always accommodating, hotel reservations staff was patient with my room requests and always accommodating as well and always did their best to allow early check in when I had been up all night working, drove all the way from Janesville WI and would show up straight from work still in my scrubs.
The room was clean most of the time. My last visit I stayed in a room that had trash on the floor under the chaise lounge and personal items left in the night stand. The bathroom door of heavy wood would not slide easily on the tracks.
The buffet was a huge disappointment with long waits when only a few people were actually eating, tables weren't getting cleared and customers were having to wait even though staff was observed standing around talking. Once seated I observed the buffet wasn't getting restocked and when they did and food was spilt in the process the staff just left it there rather than cleaning up the spill.
Cindy Bennett — Google review
I think their buffet needs to be open later than 8pm on the weekends, and their crab the extra fee is outrageous when you dont get much for the price. The food was all pretty much put away so there was not much to eat, and the employees were boxing up their own meals to take home while the customers were still trying to get food. If you are going to close that early and have no food- please inform the customers that there is no real selection
Paying $80+ for 2 people to have the experience we did. Not great
We wanted a different place to eat and it obvious is a place to come
To during the day or early evening not around 7-7:30pm and have almost all food put away

I am only giving a three star review for one reason. The sheets on the bed were like sleeping been two pieces of card board. Other than the stiff sheets all was well.

They changed the whole name and vibe of the place. Then when I went to get a players card they said I had one, from back when it was Jumors when I was 21. Seems stupid to have a "new casino" but old card.
I got married and my name changed and that was an entire issue.

It's hard to give any casino 5 stars due to losing paychecks there 🫣 saying that, they have the only poker room in the QC as well as great table games and side bets (free bet blackjack). friendly dealers and security.

Good location, rooms are OK, drink service on the gaming floor sucks. Definitely not Vegas. Several hours on. Saturday late afternoon and never saw server.

Had a great time at this casino yesterday! I left about $400 ahead, and enjoyed sitting down for a meal at their buffet before leaving for the day.
My only complaint was the patron who, upon seeing that I wasn’t using a card, wouldn’t stop pestering me about playing on his. I didn’t, and eventually just moved to another machine. Not exactly something I can hold against the casino itself, but still very annoying!

Always a good experience here. Great when you win! Sat and invested $500 max bets on this machine. Finally walked away and came back an hour later and won $800.
This is a wonderfully preserved old mill that still has many of it's original tools and features on display. We've been to several old mills, but none with as much of the mill processing tools still intact.
Additionally there was an engagement area where kids and adults alike could process the corn using old tools which was really neat to do in the setting of the old mill!
If you're an animal lover, there are also a couple of windows with shudders closed that are home to little brown bats. One of the windows downstairs you can walk right by and see the bats through the glass. A highlight of the trip!
The scenery around the mill is also very nice with an old bridge across the creek and a nice walking path to the mill.

Super cute mill and waterfall! The entire area was beautiful. There was only one other small group of people when we went on a weekend afternoon. Such a nice short stop to stretch your legs or cool down from a long day of hiking with a short easy walk from the parking lot. There are a few different places you can climb down to for pictures that are fairly easy, just be careful and respectful of the environment.

Wonderful historical Mill adjacent to Wildcat Den State Park. The area has plenty of parking and highlights the mill, an historical bridge, and a dam. Also, it allows easy access to a trail taking you to the Wildcat Den with a 1.5 mile walk through the forest. Nice camping area, and public restrooms. Highly recommend.

At first a sign was up saying it's closed due to the heat. Then, a woman came to open it. It was so hot and dusty inside . We got to take a look around, but no demonstrations or anything available. Wish it was more.

The museum was closed at the time we visited so we were only able to look around the surrounding grounds of the Mill. The Mill was also undergoing some exterior renovations, which will likely improve the overall appearance of the Mill. The autumn scenery here is beautiful when the trees are in full color change.

Brucemore is a historical estate built in 1836 encircled by gardens that offers tours, concerts, and cultural events. The property includes a gift shop and flower market. Visitors can experience the heritage of this mansion through various programs hosted at the venue. Brucemore's rich history is well-preserved and celebrated, making it an essential destination for anyone interested in exploring the past of Cedar Rapids' culture.

Brucemore is a lovely 19th. Century mansion. It contains original art and architectural details by Grant Wood. Especially charming is a small fresco on an upstairs sleeping porch. There is a great deal of beautiful woodwork in the main hall and reception rooms. Be sure to look up, to see the Classical-themed mural that borders the walls there. Most of the furnishings and domestic items are original to the house. The remainder are authentic period items. Keep an eye out, and you will discover a link to the Titanic tragedy. During this Christmas season, the home boasts 14 holiday trees, as well as many other seasonal decorations. In the growing season, the gardens are open to the public with no fee. The grounds are still recovering from the 2020 derrecho, so you will see many newly planted trees; but many large, mature trees survived. Brucemore is a great destination for adult lovers of history, art, and architecture. Because it is a "hands-off" museum, families with children may prefer to visit only the gardens. (12/2021)

A tour of Brucemore is always a pleasure and is especially so during the holiday season. Creative and beautifully executed holiday displays that encompass every room. Not only lovely trees and garlands, but the displays also include audio descriptions and music appropriate to each vignette. At other times of the year, interesting and beautiful gardens and outdoor events provide diverse entertainment. Large amounts of structural and landscape recovery have taken place following the damaging storm that occurred three years ago. This must have taken an army of dedicated and passionate supporters. Thankful for it.

Me and my dad chose to visit this place for my last day of staying in Cedar Rapids, the mansion and the grounds itself were very beautiful and scenic. We ordered the tickets for a non guided tour before we got there. The staff who scanned our tickets told us that it was fine to walk around the house and that everything checked out. The staff at the front was nice but looked at us a little weird and overall seemed off. My dad and I went to the 3rd floor first and chose to make our way to the bottom floor from there. As we had gotten up there a female staff worker had followed us up and said told us we has snuck away from the rest of them. We explained that we had the no tour guide tickets and she smiled sarcastically and preceded to follow us around while we toured. No matter what floor we were on she followed us and tried to guide us. We even followed all the rules, didn’t touch anything, only went in doors that were open, no flash photography, etc. It was tolerable until we made our way back down to the first floor while in the library, the staff kept giving us glances and seemed to be keeping such an eye on us as if we were trying to steal something. Then right as we left we overheard one of the staff say “they’re finally leaving.” Overall it was not an experience I would like to come back too unless the staff were to change.

After waiting for the house to open, we were turned away because we had not purchased tickets ahead of time. There was nothing posted outside of the house stating tickets were needed or that they needed to be purchased ahead, we were told we could wait another 30 minutes and come back for a self guided tour but weren't aloud to go at the time we were there ....we were the first people in line when they opened the house. We went ahead and left as we didn't have the time to wait the additional time and it saved our group $70.00. So I would highly recommend finding and purchasing the tickets ahead of time or don't waste your time by even going.

Beautiful mansion, excellent and informative tour! (Many stairs, so be prepared!) Lovely grounds to walk around. Also, another exhibit hall with many pictures, history and some artifacts. Movies(!) taken in the first half of the 1900's of life in the Hall family: playing with their pet lion, behind the scenes of Gone with the Wind, and other everyday occurrences!!! Such a great tour. This 187-acre historic site features President Hoover's birthplace, his gravesite & more.
Historic site for the USA. The birthplace and first years of President Hoover's life. Everything around is neat and tidy thanks to the work of the National Park Service rangers. So if you are on the I-80, I recommend you get off the highway and take your time to visit this place. It's worth it.

What a beautiful place to see! We enjoyed walking the grounds and taking in part of our presidential history. The little house where Herbert Hoover was born, was absolutely darling! Be sure to check out all the buildings and read about them along the way! Also be sure to visit the visitors center and get some nice souvenirs from the gift shop area! I recommend this place for kids and adults both!

This is a really neat historic place. Crazy how a poor orphaned boy in the middle of nowhere Iowa could become president. The presidential library was really neat as well. It’s definitely a step into the past. You need to reserve tickets online to get in, but when I was there you could also just walk in and buy them. If you go in February expect no higher than 14F temps and a cool breeze.

This was a very well done museum!. So pleasantly surprised. I loved walking the paths to take the tour of the different places in Hoover’s life. Our favorite was meeting park ranger /blacksmith Chelsea. She was so passionate about her work and life passion.
It wasn’t just Hoover that left you inspired. She definitely did too.
The prairie is beautiful and so is the whole area. My son and I enjoyed doing the Junior park ranger booklet that had us truly learning.
Well done:)

Very nice grounds. I was surprised to see the president and first lady were actually laid to rest here and the memorial is very nice. Nice walking trails with plenty of big and old trees. There is something like an old neighborhood of late 1800 to early 1900 homes nice to walk through. The museum itself is great. Lots of history and story of the presidents life. The first lady was absolutely fantastic and such an interesting woman and strong, strong character. What do I remember now from the this president? I would say he was a great humanitarian who held office during tough and unforgiving times.

There are not many Presidential Library museums, and this one is a little off the beaten path compared to most. It is almost a campus with an eclectic grouping of buildings, statues, a visitor center, and the museum all somewhat spread out.
Everyone on the property was courteous and helpful. There may have been 10 visitors total the day we visited, so there were no lines and we were able to tour through everything at our own pace.
We started in the Visitor Center with a shirt film, walked the campus for a few minutes and then toured the museum. It is pretty much what you would expect in small town Iowa. Kudos to President Hoover and all of what he overcame to rise to the presidency.

Location worked out as it's right off the interstate compared to off the beaten path but that's just luck and geography.

Got our Passport Stamp and kids completed the Junior Ranger Program.
Dedicated in 1962, this library & museum features exhibits related to President Herbert Hoover.
Visited in August 2021. Interesting to see the old village and the quality put into the village. Many buildings have been moved from their original locations to the current location at the Museum grounds.
The museum does a good job of portraying the life of Hebert Hoover and making the division between his personal life and his time as president.

I came through August 19th 2020, very possibly the worst time to visit in recent history. It was COVID so most everything was shut down. Then they just had the terrible derecho so a great number of trees has been taken down by the winds. Some very majestic trees toppled, what a mess.
The staff was friendly. I visited the period make shift town and some of the out buildings. was able to enter the replica boyhood home. I thought the final resting place of President and Mrs. Hoover was very elegant and stately, it was beautiful. The grounds were well kept and manicured around the final resting place. So terrible some of the great trees were now gone however.
There is a shelter build out back by the boy scouts. There is a good private restroom there.
I was able to take a longer walk through the prairie like young Hoover must have. A very pretty place which helped keep President Hoover Grounded. My great great relative was his Secretary of War.

The museum is pretty small for $10. You can watch a 23 min video that basically tells you what is on all of the plaques in the museum. They try to incorporate items from the time period and less actual presidential items owned by Hoover. They could use some cleaning up as there is a dead bug on one of the books that clearly should not be there. They currently have a depressing Russian famine exhibit as well. They buildings from Hoover's childhood are free to go into. You can walk to the gravesite or drive pretty close and park, depending on the number of visitors. They say "up a hill" but it's not so bad. The staff is very friendly and likes to talk, but she didn't seem to up to date with the actual exhibits when questioned.

Very well done, smaller presidential museum. There is a small film to watch, then a mix of visual displays with very good signage. The museum tells a balanced, in depth story of his life from birth in a tiny home thru his death in the early 60’s. Hoover’s rise from being orphaned at an early age, being raised by his relatives to college graduation and economic success in mining, then government service and his one term Presidency. Hoover seemed to be a very talented individual, a victim of his times, and perhaps too humble for a top politician. Gained an appreciation for his knowledge and accomplishments. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good on site parking, no restaurant on site.

I never knew much about President Hoover, but I can't say that any more! Nice museum - an interesting 22-minute introductory film, lots of artifacts, and placards. I especially enjoyed reading portions of letters written by Herbert Hoover - pre & post presidency. I wish there were more of those. There are other shorter videos explaining other parts of his life along the way. Especially moving are the interviews of people who were young children remembering being fed & helped by Hoover after WWII. The museum certainly informed & influenced my knowledge of history; I really like what I now know about the man!

I haven't visited a Presidential Library yet that has disappointed, and this one is no exception. A lot to learn, especially given the way President Hoover has been treated by some historians and media folks. You'll leave with a whole new perspective on this great man, and you'll understand why the All In The Family theme song says "Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again." Not a huge fan. This should be a funky hipster paradise, but it is pretty much a tourist trap. Most of the places serve more wings and busch light than they do Czech food. There is really nothing to do other than eat, and drink. It reminds me of the downtowns that serves tourist attractions without the attraction.

The village is a small area and it's very walkable and you can visit a multitude of interesting shops. Make sure you visit the Czech Museum since I found it worthy. I had very little concept of the struggles in this country and after a visit I came away with tremendous respect upon learning the history and endurance of the Czech people. This museum has an unusable way of transmitting personal struggles. You must visit. Honestly, I am not a fan of museums, but I do recommend this one. I especially enjoyed the film showing how this large museum was moved after a severe flood. Fascinating.

Cool area! Wish it opened just a little earlier, ended up just window shopping while waiting for our seat at Lucky's. But the shops are so cute and it has a really cool vibe! We even found a Painted Rock! I'm so excited to see people are still doing that! I plan to relocate it :)

I should have taken pictures of all the amazing, talented artists! I will the next time I here! The authentic tacos are 😻 they have tons of vendors & a variety of just everything you can possibly think of. From food, the gem stones, eclectic plant decor & plant holders, magnets, homemade jewelry, etc. I would’ve never known other than word of mouth. This place is AMAZING!!🤩 ❤️🥰

Always great to see businesses come together in one area and offer a lot of diversity.
There are always plenty of different types of food to choose from. Some nice shops to pick presents for friends and family
Also has my favorite coffee shop in Cedar Rapids located right in it.

The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library is a cultural institution that showcases exhibits on the Czech and Slovak experience. It features a genealogy library, a Christmas market, and other attractions. Despite not being very large, it's definitely worth the admission fee regardless of whether or not you have any heritage ties to these cultures. If you're ever in Cedar Rapids, this place is worth stopping by along with other nearby attractions.
Incredible displays of information of the Czechoslovakian culture! Beautiful exhibits, rich history, and informative staff. Highly recommend to anyone - local or otherwise.

Pros: Some interesting history. Lots of traditional garments. Interactive displays. Nice place to visit for an hour or so. Friendly staff.
Cons: Parking. Price. Only about 30% of the total size of the building is dedicated to museum exhibits, disappointed there wasn't more to see.

Very nice museum. It had a bunch of pictures, films, music, really captured what it was like according to history books. Hands on exhibits, a house from the years, it's a great history lesson and it keeps children entertained with all the stuff to look at.

My wife and I had some time to burn between landing in Cedar Rapids and catching a shuttle to Dubuque, and we found this museum on the map and couldn't resist stopping in to learn some familial history.
We only had about 20 minutes, so I asked the staff for the highlights. We were able to rush through the Faces of Freedom exhibit in the Jiruska gallery and the Sleger Family cabin. The exhibits were informing, entertaining, and plentiful. The staff was so kind and understanding of our situation, and very knowledgeable.
While our time there was way too short for my liking, it's only prompted me to want to learn more. If I ever find myself back in Cedar Rapids I'd make a point to schedule a longer visit.

My husband and I stumbled in here, the displays were so informative and I love learning about another culture. We ended walking around for a couple of hours, the clothes and music were by far my favorite, the ship was also pretty cool. The gift shop seemed crazy high in prices but worth getting a couple of trinkets to commemorate your visit, the ladies working there were so nice!

I've known about this museum for what seems like forever, but had never visited until recently. So on a recent trip to Iowa, I decided I would spend one half of a day checking out things in Cedar Rapids and this was on my agenda. It's not a particularly huge museum, but definitely worth the admission fee to check out the exhibits on display, whether you have and Czech or Slovak heritage or not. If you are passing through Cedar Rapids, it's a good place to stop in as well as checking out some of the places in the surrounding neighborhood!

I visited the National Check and Slovak Museum and Library for the first time Saturday, February 3, 2018 to check out the Art of Accessories exhibit.
I really enjoyed the exhibit of folk art and the detail of the handwork that was exhibited. Also the permanent exhibit of the velvet revolution was very informational and I appreciated the interactive immersion of the exhibits.
I am thinking of joining as an Individual, renewable annually for only $35.00 a year. Gets you in free and I would be supporting the museum.
I had fun, would like to go back soon and encourage you to check it out. Admission is $10.00. Not bad for the few hours would could spend soaking up the history.
Also I watched 4 Bald Eagles fishing on the river from the entryway. very neat.

My kiddos absolutely loved this place. Beautiful place with fun and learning activities for the kids. We love coming here for a little adventure. The staffs here are friendly and hardworking. They are always disinfecting everything and that's a plus. We had a blast and can't wait to visit again.

A fun learning environment for kids. Staff are hard at work making sure things run smoothly, but you find things here and there that do not work (like trace board in the painting room). The aviation section, supermarket, pizzeria, and farm are among the most attractive rooms.

Love this place! We have the annual pass and it pays itself off with just a few visits. The kid loves it here with so many different activities to do. You can spend hours and still not see or do everything. Keep in mind, there are two floors with activities. Upstairs there is a room specifically for kids under 5, as well as a designated room for trains on the far end of the blue room. But pretty much everything is age appropriate.

Took my 3 1/2 year old son for the first time. He loves it especially the skateboard room and the slide. We've been to multiple children's museums and this one is really fun. It's a little smaller than what we're used to but good exhibits.

Very cool experience! My son ran around so excited and played with so many things. They have tons if things to do. I also had fun going into tiny houses and stuff pretending to be a giant. Lots if learning things. This place is very creative. They do their best to keep it clean as well.

I used to come here as a kid 20 years ago and now I get to bring my kids here! It’s so much fun and for the price you can’t beat it. We spent 3 hours in here easily. So much to do it’s great for all ages! Toy shop attached is nice as well.

So much stuff to do and see! Two floors of entertainment. There’s stuff for all ages. Lots of cool stuff on the walls to look at too. Everything is well bolted down and baby proofed. My wild 1 year old had tons of fun. We loved the quiet room to take a little break! The whole place is just really thoughtfully designed. Staff was constantly cleaning and wiping down toys and surfaces, and they even have baskets by the entrances to each area for toys that got chewed on and need cleaned! We’ll be back often for years to come.

A great place to spend the day with your kids. We visited on a weekday afternoon and it was fairly empty, which was nice. Workers can be seen frequently cleaning play areas and walls are equipped with lots of hand sanitizers. Good for children of all ages. Different areas include a pizza shop, grocery store, farmer’s market, open play area with stage and costumes, a bank, post office, ambulance and hospital, arts and crafts room, aerial room, foam building blocks, legos, play room with slides, and more.
Ashley Goodwin — Google review
My kids (2 and 4) love the children’s museum. There are tons of activities geared towards their ages (and older).
Many different activity rooms - farm, trains, grocery store, hospital, rocket ship, airplanes, skate boards, etc. mostly non digital activities (which is great), but there are a couple interactive screens.
If you are going to be a regular consider getting an annual pass. You can get in an hour earlier Wed-Sat and the pass pays for itself.
Museum is located in the mall - check the carousel or ice skating rink out if you get there too early (like me).
John J — Google review
It doesn't look very big from the mall entrance so we didn't have high expectations but they are part of the children's museum network so we figured we'd check it out anyway. We were surprised how many activities they have! It's much bigger than it looks, with a wide range of detailed exhibit rooms for all ages. The air and space section is particularly impressive with multiple simplified flight sims for kids to try out.
Andy Carlberg — Google review
I have ages 12 to 2 and they absolutely love this place. They learn so much through play. There is so much more than what I shared in these pictures and each time we go, we spend time in different rooms. The only downfall is having a store that kids can run into right by the entrance/exit. My 3 year old has a hard time understanding why I can't purchase a $40 box of magformers each time we go. I love that there are some reasonable priced items but it's not helpful when I would rather get my children into the learning section of the museum. This is a big struggle for us. Still, what a great learning center for the kiddos. I recommend purchasing a membership.
Shopping-mall chain featuring a variety of brand-name & designer outlet stores.
Great place to shop. Huge amounts of clothes on sale and to choose from. Great Furniture stores as well!!

I go there about once a year to do some shopping, but I haven't been there since the pandemic started. I was surprised how quiet it was; probably 35 cars in the entire parking lot at noon on a Friday? Not as busy as I recall; no matter, makes the stores easier to shop in! Okay place to shop, but nothing special.

Over half empty. Of the stores, some were filled with stock but lights off in the middle of a week day and a Saturday. Little selection in many stores but a few great boutique stores and the Famous Footwear made it a worthwhile stop.
Tanger Outlets needs to up its game & lower rents to attract stores.
It could be such a great place to have what locals and travelers need with some care and thought. It needs some constant hours for stores to meet.

It is a nice outlet strip mall. It did have several empty stores, but it had a really nice collection of namebrand outlet stores. More than we nor.ally have hete in Indiana. If they could fill other stores it would be a 5 star

Lots of shopping options - but the deals could be better as an outlet mall. Some stores offer crazy good deals while other stores are full price or offering deals found at other non-outlet stores. The stores are clean, easy to shop in and customer service is good.

Stopped for a quick visit however ended up visiting more than we expected. The pink card offer of 25% discount helped us this time as we were planning for a event. Based on my personal Tanger outlets visits this one seemed to have little more offer than other similar outlets(maybe were just lucky). Some employees might not apply the offer unless you specifically pay attention to the final check out amount. It happened to us in one instances and when we pointed out final checkout amount dropped considerably.

Maytag blue cheese has always been the best of the best. I’ve sourced it for decades. What made me write this review is I purchased directly from the farm and my gosh, the speed at which I received my cheese left my head spinning. Less than 24 hours after placing my order online my cheese was at my door; and that was with standard shipping! Please keep doing what you’re doing, because you do it excellently.

Excellent cheese! The blue cheese crumbles are amazing. They freeze well and allow for larger purchases. We also love the smoked baby swiss cheese. The farm is only a few miles off the highway and is easy to find using Google maps. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were able to have a brief tour of the packing area our last trip through. If you are a cheese lover this is worth the detour.

I've been a Maytag Blue consumer for over 2 decades. Yesterday's order arrived in less than 24 hours, in perfect condition. We survived the unfortunate shortage a few years ago. Thrilled to have our good stuff back. We gave some of this to a Danish friend. Her reaction was great surprise that the US was producing Blue of this quality. "This is world-class cheese," was her comment. Keep it coming!

Went here to get cheese, the sign in front said they no longer sell cheese at the location and had to buy it at a wine store in town. Drove to the wine store and it was closed until 4:00pm. I drove almost 3 hours to visit this place, some website updates would have been helpful.
This place is incredible. The main shop has little vignettes about what is in each of their shops (there are eleven shops!!) you must stop by each of them as they have great stuff in each. The main store also has a lot of MSQC souvenirs. The people are super nice and we even got to meet Jenny Doan. We had a total quilt nerd out. Hit up the other stores in town they are super fun. Great job, friends! This place is a triumph. I can't wait to recommend it and hopefully come back someday!
Oh, one more thing....be sure to take time to go to the museum. It is super cool! There is a big featherweight display there right now. And the other thing the blew my ever-loving mind was the room full of the miniature quilts. Absolutely incredible!!

What's not to love? Every line of wonderful quilting fabric you could wish for is right there in the space of 3 city blocks! And notions galore! There's even a man cave with leather recliners, a big screen TV, and a pool table. The employees were very nice and helpful if I needed help. Add in a couple of little cafes right in the middle of town, and you've got the makings of a great day. This was my first visit to what should be the center of the quilting universe, but it will not be my last. I'm going again in May!
Tammy Stevenson — Google review
Of course I loved it, I've ordered supplies from this company for years and being able to see it in person was awesome.
We first went into what we thought was "the" store and we both remarked on how underwhelmed we felt, we agreed we thought it would be larger and somehow more grand; I felt the same way about the Coliseum in Rome too, just sayin'. But we quickly realized the shop... It's literally the whole town!
I knew that this business had revived the small town where it is situated, one of the reasons I was so keen to visit is the company's marvelous story, but I didn't quite understand what that meant until we went for a walk around the area.
Beautiful old buildings that sat abandoned have been and are even now being thoughtfully restored and repurposed to serve as arms of this business, one, for example, is devoted to sewing machines, another sells mostly Batik fabrics.
One thing I particularly liked is that there are ample curb cuts, ramps, and handicapped parking spaces, and there are nice wide aisles in most of the stores making these shops accessible to those in wheelchairs and those who use supportive gear. The bathroom I visited in the main store was also accessible.
There is a spot set aside for those who do not find this type of excursion enjoyable, complete with puffy recliners and a television to keep you occupied if you don't care for fiber arts. My complaint with this area is that its design is so hypermasculine that it creates an obvious division between what they believe is supposed to be for "men" and what is supposed to be for "women", and could end up making members of either group (or of no group at all) uncomfortable if their interests don't fall in line and with what Missouri Star's marketing folks have decided their role should be.
I get why they did this and I appreciate it, but I hope that as we move forward and continue to grow as a society they might consider toning down the focus on gender being the dividing line specifically; I do know men who quilt and I know women who hate it, and I know people who fall into yet different categories who just want to decide how they feel about a thing based on factos other than gender.
So, in summation- if you're into fiber arts and quilting, go! Visit! It's a truly lovely place with a lot of interesting history and a great story. It is relatively easy to access, and there is a spot for those who want to opt out of obsessing over different shades on green for two hours, like me.

Tried to order 108” backing. Ordered 2.5yrd. The first order sent was only 57”. Emailed and order was reshipped. The second attempt the fabric had a massive snag in it, right in the middle of the fabric that would have shown on my quilt back. Emailed and again reshipped the order. Just received the third attempt and wrong length again! Only 83”. I don’t get how we aren’t measuring correctly at all! And twice! I understand the snag could be hard to see, but was right on top when I unfolded.

Make sure that your wife has plenty of time to walk through all of the stores, there is more than one. We spent two hours and still didn't see everything. If this is not your thing, park yourself in a leather recliner in the man cave. I want one of those for my family room.

I was excited by the variety of fabrics available. Several buildings were filled with specific fabrics. Feeling like a kid in a candy store, I flew through the bolts and found myself wanting all of it. What a great experience to see first hand. Generally, online orders are how I get my supplies, but since I was in the state, a trip to the YouTube store was a must. The main store was my first stop. The patterns for the quilts Jenny made on her show were displayed nicely in each store. (It's the inspiration corners) Then on to the Batik store, which was the hardest to leave. 350.00 dollars later, smile on my face, I carried a bag full of fabric out to my car. You can tell, I enjoyed myself!

But I was disappointed that going to 16 shops and only two employees acknowledged us, there were no hello’s or welcomes. I ordered an embroidery kit and got a package of needles. When I talked to them, they did refund for the items I did not get (I was going to give them 1 star but feel like they did handle the refund of nonreceived goods quickly and easily so that was the one star) but also the item was out of stock by the time I received not my order and I will have to wait and watch and hope for the best in three weeks when it is restocked. The lady on the chat sent me back to the chat bot without notification. That was the rude icing on the cake. I think I'll look for kits from Etsy, probably, going forward. It seems these guys have enough business they don't need to be nice or helpful when they mess up.

They have a wonderful selection of goods. That being said, that’s where my compliments end. Their prices are good if you buy something on sale. But for the most part, they are over priced. They are SLOW to ship and then they ship the slowest possible way. It takes forever to get anything here.

Absolutely do not give them your email! They will spam you with multiple emails a day. They will not allow you to unsubscribe, no matter the course you take to do it. If you go through their site it makes you create an account to unsubscribe even if you made a purchase as a guest previously. I’ve sent in multiple tickets to their customer service and they all promise 24-48 hours but the emails never stop. This is an extremely questionable business practice.

My wife and I visited this place the other day and walked around it just looking over the old home. It was really crazy to see all the bullet holes in the front of the house and to imagine what everyone went through that night. It does look like the home needs some maintenance to keep it going, and we suspect that at some point, it will likely be gone due to the dilapidation that is starting. It is an awesome piece of history, to say the least, and a must place to visit.

The Glore Psychiatric Museum is an unusual and fascinating attraction dedicated to the history of mental healthcare. It spans four floors and showcases a vast collection of surgical tools, equipment, and artwork created by asylum patients. Along with its displays on the specific museum's history, it examines psychiatric care throughout history in general. While there are smaller companion museums nearby, visitors should prepare to spend at least three hours exploring this informative and intriguing site.
What an incredibly unique and interesting place! I was expecting something smaller, but this is four floors of relics and stories from the history of psychiatric care in general as well as the history of this specific psychiatric museum. Definitely worth the price of admission, and I highly recommend it to everyone!

A great collection of asylum artifacts and a couple other collections added in as well.
The artifacts did a great job of telling the tale of the asylum over time and really bringing to life some of the experiences of patients and staff.
For those who fancy learning about psychology or psychiatry it was a great way to see some of tools and equipment up close and really take in some atmosphere.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. The gift shop has some interesting offerings beyond the typical generic offerings seen most places.
The other attached collections are well worth the time, and contained some great pieces tying in to local history and reflecting on the events of national importance.

This is a great museum to stop and learn about the history of this location. We had a great time reading and learning about the state hospital, and we would absolutely recommend this as a quick place to stop and learn some really interesting facts about the history of psychiatry.

Very informative and cool to go see. If you like the creepy vibe you should go to the lowest level to the morgue. They also have a few other museums attached that are smaller. Be ready to spend at least three hours there. Only down side is all of the reading.

Amazing place to learn a little history especially about some of the trauma and general hardships some of the folks there went through!

The history of the museum revealed some horrible treatment methods utilized by physicians in the past. The museum houses a very detailed collection of medical and physical evidence of how mental health was addressed in the past. It is still frightening to think that women, and men , were once institutionalized simply because they spoke their minds or “danced to the beat of their own drums”.. Admission fee was $10.00 for us , but rates were lower for children and senior citizens.

Lots to read and provided a great look back as to how we've treated mental health in recent history. I'm a psychologist and the visit was one of my favorite activities on the trip. My husband enjoyed it, but not as much. Staff was friendly and helpful, but a bit strange. ;)
Amie Kirby — Google review
The museum had a lot of information, and we spent a couple of hours walking around. There was a lot of new information that surprised us. The front desk clerk wasn't exactly friendly, but we might have just caught her on an off day. We would recommend for adults and teens.
Note to management: the pond outside needs maintenance. The fish's water is dirt and not pump isn't working. The filter is clogged and needs to be cleaned.

Equal parts interesting, creepy, and saddening. So glad this museum is open to the public to see how previous mental health treatment was like. It occurred to me while exploring that we just never really know what’s better until something new comes along. I felt so much empathy for the patients that had to endure some unusual and somewhat brutal forms of therapy because their mental health condition was not yet fully understood. We are in a much better place today for treatments and I am so grateful. In the future there will likely be improved methods, but at least we are making efforts to become aware. This experience is so unique!

Awesome place that I visited when I was 12 and made my hubby stop with me at on our way home at 33. Even after 21 years the place still looks virtually the same. Love the entire experience, and I feel like it has been updated a bit to fit the times. My favorite part was the psych artifacts and the African American exhibit. They say it takes 1.5 hours to go thru...but I felt like I was rushing it and we spent over 2 hours! Loved it and thank you!

Very interesting information . really shows the progression of treatment for mental health! They have current treatments and and pamphlets to help you know. Very inforamative with a small gift shop. Not expensive and very ADA compliant.
The Patee House Museum and Jesse James Homes is a well-organized showcase of Western artifacts that serves as the former Pony Express headquarters and Civil War Union outpost. The museum features an impressive exhibit on the Pony Express and a Main Street walkthrough, providing visitors with a glimpse into what life was like during that era. To fully appreciate the exhibits, one must take their time to read through each description. Visitors can explore multiple levels via an elevator while enjoying the Pantee Carosel.
It's impossible to describe the collection here. You have to see it for yourself. What a great window into the history of St. Joseph. It was an accident that I stumbled in and I'm so glad I did.

Interesting visit wotth an hour or so. You can easily spend several hours in you read everything.
Jesse James house was cool. Neat to see the room and .
Amazing the Patee House was the finest hotel west of the Mississippi, and how in a rough and tough run down area.

This museum is very well put together. It has a great exhibit on the Pony Express It has a Main Street walkthrough where you felt like you were put back into time and got to walk into each one of the shops and see what it would be like during that time frame. To get the full experience, be ready to take some time and read the description on each exhibit. There are multiple levels to explore and an elevator to move between the floors. The Pantee Carosel is also a must see. Overall worth the time to explore this museum!

Amazing museum! There was so much to look at and you even got to go into the train. There were very nice little buildings that showed how everything used to look and you could spend hours there just looking at everything. There were a lot of things you could interact with as well and overall I highly reccomend this museum to anyone interested.

We wanted to visit the Patee House. When we entered we were told: Sorry, we'll be closing IN 15 MINUTES! Well, then I wanted at least watch one or the other in a quick run while my wife sat down on the "horn couch" and waited for me. So I only wanted to pay one entrance fee, but the lady at the register took $14 from my VISA card for two people. I was back in 14.5 minutes only to be told I had half an hour left! ?!?!?

I really enjoy going to museums and this one is definitely worthy of your time. If you are ever in the St. Joe area, stop in and check it out. Also, they have the house Jesse James was killed in on site, too. Small extra fee, though

Patee house was probably a nice museum, the staff was so rude, we drove 90 minutes to see this, arrived 30 minutes before close, and they advertised 4pm closing, it closes at 3:45pm, you are warned, we needed the restroom when we got there, she said that's for paying customers only, of course we pay at all places we go and donate generously, we love history. Terrible woman and this place in a VERY scary neighborhood, lock your car. It is a well kept museum. We ran through in about 10 after a 5 minute bathroom break.

The Patee House Museum is quite a fantastic place. The history they have captured is amazing. You would never believe they have a train station AND a train in here. There is so much to see on the 3 floors of this surprising museum. You need to go out of your way to experience this gem. DO IT !!!

Excellent museum of the old midwest. Old hotel, original headquarters of the Pony Express. Every display is a collection of different regions historical artifacts. For example, one room is Walter Cronkite's fathers dental office. Walter Cronkite was born in St. Joseph and his grandfather and father were dentists there. They recently opened the 3rd floor so you can see the original hotel rooms. Second time here, did not pay the extra $ to see Jessy James house this time.

Well worth the $8 per person for my wife and I. We spent over 2 hours walking around and reading the many, many exhibits. We just came to St. Joseph for a little getaway for a couple of day, and I am so glad we chose to go through this museum. It gives you a great feel for the history of the whole town and area not just the building. Also some great western history in general.
Also, it is really well kept up. Kudos to the association. It is in a part of town (we walked all through downtown) that is fairly run down, but the museum is fantastically well kept.

What a great surprise! We came for the Jesse James House, which was small but fun and informative. Ended going to the Patee House next door and WOW! You could spend days in there! Little bit of everything, would DEFINITELY recommend! Gorgeous working carousel too!
The Pony Express National Museum showcases the historical cross-country delivery service through skilled riders on horseback in the 1860s. The museum features impressive exhibits that highlight the challenges faced by these legendary riders, who transported mail from St Joe to Sacramento. Historian Gary Westcott delivered an exceptional presentation on the history of Lake Contrary, drawing a large crowd to Tuesday Night Talks, which were held later than usual this year in Spring.
Great museum, showing the history of Saint Joseph Pony Express. The family and kids enjoyed the experience. The staff was very informative and so polite. Thank you

A super cool historical site! You get a great history of the Pony Express with some Westward expansion tucked in. There was an original hand-dug well kids can pump water from, and lots of other hands-on exhibits. There is also a fantastic little kid's room. You can even see some of the original foundations. It is cool that part of the building is original as well. We really enjoyed our time here.

We took our 2 yo and 1 yo (both well behaved). Both the men’s and ladies bathrooms have changing tables and VERY clean. Our kids loved finding all the horses and enjoyed trying to do the pump to water the cows. Which gave us a moment to read what was around us. And we LOVED the kids play room! Oh goodness the play room was clean and well kept and so cute! They also have stamps and crayon scratching the kids can do. Overall it was so much fun and our kids loved it!

Caught the final Tuesday Night Talks of the season. Gary Westcott, an accomplished historian, did an excellent presentation on The History of Lake Contrary. The TNT are usually held during the Winter but were pushed into Springtime this year. Attendance at TNT was a very full house as many flocked to hear and see Gary's interesting presentation. The doors opened at 6:15 pm with refreshments and the presentation began at 7:00, lasting until 9:00.

Great history lesson of the short lived Pony Express started in St. Joseph, Mo. This is an excellent museum to bring groups too. So much to see along with interaction stations. It is a self guided tour with a 16 minute informative movie. I was there 2 hrs and could have slowed down for a bit longer. So happy I discovered this history preserving gem. Not expensive and has a wonderful gift shop.

Home of the Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball, Kauffman Stadium is a massive and popular stadium with great seats to watch a game. It also has a great Kids Area, interactive features, and an impressive video board. If youre lucky enough to catch a game or concert here, its definitely one of the most captivating experiences of your life.
Beautiful ballpark. We loved the fountains and museum. We were visiting from NC and everyone was very friendly. The staff told us to go see guest services and get a first time visitors certificate. The kids really enjoyed that. Food was great. I think we tried everything in the ballpark. Parking was easy and simple to navigate. Overall we had a great time and would suggest checking out Kauffman Stadium.

Fantastic experience here. Great food options, friendly fan base, comfortable seating. I came from San Diego to see Padres play Royals on Friday and Saturday nights. No complaints. Stayed at the Best Western across the street so it was a short walk to the park. When I first saw the screen I thought it was odd because it was tall rather than wide I got use to that quick. It had fantastic resolution. The video team kept me entertainment. The found myself mesmerized by the fountains several time between innings. What a great feature they are. It was definitely worth the trip to see this stadium.

We love our Royals! No matter the “weather”, we will always be happy to cheer them on. While we’ve been to The K many times, we never tried out the mini golf in the kids area before. It is a neat little course! We always like walking through the hall of fame, seeing the fountains, and of course watching a baseball game. There isn’t a bag seat in the stadium.

Took my boys to their first baseball game, and they loved it. And what a game it was. It was a hitting fest.. they l the only downfall.. they tried so hard to get a ball from the pitching box.. but the other kids that were there would push and shove... they waited and waited to only be let down.. I raised my boys to be respectful other than that it was fun...

I love ballparks and Kauffman stadium ranks up there as one of the best. I hear they are thinking about moving this place to downtown. I think that shouldn't do it. How about redeveloping the area around the stadium? There is literally nothing there. Put in a light rail, hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. Make it a destination!
james scherz — Google review
With a little planning you can park and enter very close to your seats with minimal walking. They have golf carts going through the parking lot if you need a ride. Outside food is allowed. If you sign the sober driver form in guest services they'll give you a free drink ticket. It can be a trick to find the vendor that excepts them though. The ushers can be a bit demanding to see tickets at times, but do a great job of keeping it a safe family friendly environment.

A great stadium. They don’t build them like this anymore. You can still get close to the plate for a decent price, as well as have some player interaction.
There’s a free museum in the outfield, as well as a play area for kids.
The water features are pretty cool as well. New stadiums would have packed this area with things no one asked for in an effort to make more money, but the Royals stadium has retained its charm by not selling out.
This is truly a memorable stadium and not one to be missed.
It’s truly a family friendly stadium and a fan friendly stadium.

We had fun at our first game at the K! The tailgating atmosphere before the game was great. The seats were a good view, even from the nosebleeds. Traffic control leaving the K needs improvement though. It was over an hour before we got out of the stadium sitting dead stopped in the parking lot.

An experience in itself. Not only can you catch the Kansas city Royals throwing it down on the field but the stadium is just as enjoyable. From mini putt, a miniature baseball field, historic/hall of fame walk through, and outdoor game area this place leaves nothing out. So many avenues to explore in this stadium it seems like a small town filled with excitement. Lots of fun for a family outing and not a bad seat in the house. This place exudes Kansas city and everything it stands for.

We were guests of dear friends at the stadium for dinner at the Crown Club and opportunity to see a game this past week.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PARK!! I have visited four other MLB parks and this park is by far the number 1 park as far as having the best views when your seats are by the dugouts. Loved this stadium, huge screen, fountains, hall of fame museum, kids play zone! They allowed us to bring unsealed water or sports drink, and 1 gallon ziplog bag of food each. That was cool. Got in quick and no hassle. The stadium has nice air flow, and bathroom lines are not long.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Kauffman Stadium. The location is great, easy to get in and out of, the facilities are clean and well-kept, and the field is in excellent condition. The local fans that we sat next to we’re very friendly. The food options were also good. Really nice that you can get refillable. Soft drinks here. There is a really good vibe and atmosphere at Kauffman. It really is a shame that they are looking to replace this stadium.

Pretty cool stadium. Was in town because the Cardinals were playing the Royals. First time at Kauffman. Sight lines were good. Beautiful stadium. I'm sad that there are already plans to replace it. I guess I can understand though. There is literally nothing around the stadium except the parking lot.

It's not in a neighborhood. It's surrounded by concrete but still the stadium itself a classic design. Nice clean concourses. Tons of food and drink choices along with great staff. The team really, really stinks this year but, they won today! I love all the stuff they've put into the outfield. It reminds me a small town street.

It’s the K! 10 stars, please!
Look, this is the finest place to watch baseball in the world. Sorry, Wrigley… there’s no “obstructed views” at our K.
The food is fun, represents KC well, and there are nearly infinite options.
The staff? They will always go above and beyond for nice fans who visit our park.
And, depending upon how the team is doing, you can have a jam packed stadium full of raging Royals fans…, or you might have a quiet night out to watch some ball.
I recommend you visit!

This feels more like a minor league stadium versus a major league stadium when you compare the stadium to other MLB stadiums. Yes, this is a family fun atmosphere and the Royals HOF is cool, however a major face lift or new stadium is desperately needed.

Really cool experience at this ballpark. Very open and airy, with plenty of sunlight. The fans are into the games here, making for an exciting ambiance. The Hall of Fame walk through in the outfield is very cool. And there are many other games for the kids, including batting cages and mini golf. Traffic was a bit difficult after the game, but that’s our only complaint.

The Arabia Steamboat Museum is a fascinating attraction in Kansas City that features an extensive collection of objects salvaged from the sunken steamboat Arabia in 1856. The museum captures the life and history of pioneer Americans during the mid-nineteenth century with exhibits, displays, and presentations on items such as kitchen spices and farm implements.
The museum was extremely well done. The exhibits were nicely displayed and pretty self-explanatory, but there were employees, including Jerry, one of the original excavators, walking around telling stories, and pointing out details the signage didn't tell. That was probably my favorite part. It took us about 2 hours to go through the entire museum. The price is very reasonable, and definitely worth it. Made a great homeschool field trip.

We have been wanting to visit for a few years and finally took the time. What a thrill to dive into the history of the river boats on the Missouri River. The displays are very well done. The one area shows the size of the boat in real time. Awesome! Don't miss it!

The Arabia Steamboat Museum is one of the more memorable museums I've ever been to. I've been to museums where you could see the technicians working on artifacts behind glass. And I've been to museums where you have docents who talk about artifacts. In this museum you have an opportunity to speak directly to the curators and technicians.
The down-to-earth story behind finding the Arabia steamboat and uncovering it is the stuff of legends. That the team of local people who did this amazing thing turned around and kept all the artifacts together in this museum is remarkable.
It's unheard of to my knowledge anyway. So many artifacts in a variety of conditions that can be not only be examined examined and studied, but also simultaneously appreciated by the public. This place has great historical significance, both for the generation of the steamboat itself and also of the generation that uncovered it.
If you're interested in American history, or steamboats, or a myriad of other cultures that traversed the path from Kansas City to Oregon along the Columbia River, then this museum is a must-see.

So cool! We took my 2 year old and 9 month old. The baby could have cared less but liked looking at people but our 2 year old loved the giant water wheel and some of the other bigger things. My husband and I thought it was so interesting what good condition it all was in! They had such a nice little gift shop with some old school toys which felt very appropriate. We didn’t find any changing tables in the community bathrooms for this little area. Maybe they have them and we couldn’t find them…

Just as amazing now as it was during my 1st visit 20 years ago. Nowhere else have I seen a snapshot of normal life's goods than here. Clothes, china, but especially for me was all the old tools. Axes, shovels, trowels, planes, saws, pocket knives, kegs of nails, and we got to talk directly to a conservator still reclaiming rescued items from the mud! This is a must see!

This is an absolute gem for Kansas City, rich with both local and national historical significance. Not only does this well preserved collection share incredible insight of American frontier life prior to the Civil War, but guests are treated to an incredible story of how 5 average individuals and their families banded together to accomplish the unbelievable. The gift shop is a little hokey, but the real treasures are in the museum beyond.

Fascinating museum - the collection of artifacts found in the wreck of the Steamboat Arabia, including the personal story of the team that discovered the wreck. The sheer volume of artifacts is amazing and continues to expand as they restore and preserve items (intact jars of pickles, dishware collections, rubber boots, clothing,...).
The layout is nice as it walks visitors though the modern discovery of the boat and object recovery before displaying and interpreting the artifacts from the boat and its cargo.
My only reason for the 4 stars is the interpretation. Mention was made of Bloody Kansas and one display of guns specifically addressed the violence surrounding the question of if Kansas would be a slave or free state. A portion of a display addressed slaves working on the riverboats. While the men's entertainments aboard were addressed, little time was spent discussing the women aboard, seemingly assuming that they all were women going west to join their husbands? Admittedly, this museum is over 20 years old and our standards of presenting balanced interpretation of thorny historical topics while attempting to represent diverse voices have changed, but I would have liked to see a more nuanced discussion.
A.J. Weinhold — Google review
The museum is pretty cool. There wasnt much of the original steamboat frame or timbers, but the display of all the goods found from that time are nicely cleaned up and displayed. I will say the museum is inside the city market area which made it near impossible to park within 5 blocks of the museum. There is no museum dedicated parking, and its not free.

I had seen this story on TV & finally was able to arrange for a visit. The story of how they recovered the Arabia from a corn field is nothing short of amazing. The recovered goods from the wreck is nearly overwhelming in its variety & condition. This is a must-see if you enjoy history. Parking is easy, reasonably priced ($1 per hour) and right there at the museum. Plan for two to three hours.

This is probably the only museum I have gone back to several times. I always recommend it to anybody who was going to be in the Kansas City area. It has been renovated since the last time we were there. It is completely fascinating. I highly recommend stopping at each video and watching them. They're not only entertaining but full of information. They include good information to know as you walk through the rest of the museum. Great location as there's a lot of things to see, do, and eat in the area. Highly recommend!

We are a pair of steamboat historians. We thought the presentation of the story of the location and excavation of the wreck was excellent. The collection is certainly impressive, but in particular we enjoyed speaking with a member of the conservation staff (Len W, if memory serves) who generously answered all of our many questions and clearly had a passion for their work.
The main deck steamboat display was very well dine, and the interpretive signage most helpful - not just for us, but also for the general public. While we were there, several locals mentioned that they’ve been there multiple times over the years and keep coming back and also recommend the museum to all their visiting family and friends.
Our only disappointment was that neither of the two books published about the ARABIA remain in print nor, we were told, are available used online. But of course this isn’t the fault of the museum, and the videos and displays at the museum do a fine job of telling the story. We were also fortunate to speak with Matt Hawley, son of one of the original project team and now runs marketing for the museum. We hope the museum continues to operate for many years to come and can potentially serve as the seed for the establishment of a national steamboat interpretive center.

My mom and I stumbled across this by accident. We are from Washington, MO and we’re in KC for 2 days and were looking for something to do. We were going to the Wizard candy shop and then we’re walking around the mall when we found it. We had to to the museum. Very educational and very exciting to learn something new. Never learn about Arabia steamboat in school. I feel like we should as it is apart of American history. Staff was very friendly and will to answer all questions.

I was really impressed with this museum. I initially didn't expect much, but it is well set out, and the artefacts they have are incredible and vast. We were lucky enough to chat with one of the original "treasure hunters" which was really cool. I would highly recommend a visit. Set aside a good 2 hours to take it all in.

After hearing about the Arabia Steamboat Museum for years, we finally were able to see it for ourselves yesterday on December 28th, 2023. The location was easy to find and there was no wait to get right in and purchase passes. The museum does an excellent job of telling the story of how the discovery of the Arabia came about. What started as a way for a few to find treasure, soon turns into a sharing of a one of a kind discovery for all to enjoy. The artifacts are very well displayed and the museum, unlike many other similar museums, is not crammed packed full of items that soon lose the interest of visitors. I think this museum included the perfect amount of items and by no means felt overwhelming. We spent about 45 minutes to an hour from start to finish but we didn't read every plaque or display.
I would recommend anyone coming to the KC area to stop and visit this one of a kind hidden gem.

This was very interesting. Maybe I’m enjoying history more now that I’m older. There were short videos in the beginning that talk about the history and who eventually recovered all of the artifacts. A must see if you are in the area.

The station also has the Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium, Science City, Regnier Extreme Screen Theatre, and other attractions.
We visited to see the Auschwitz exhibit. It was one of the best exhibits we’ve been to. The audio guide is top-notch and easy to use, guiding you through the exhibit. While the content is heavy, it is presented thoughtfully.
The artifacts and experience were incredible. Highly recommend if you can get a ticket before the traveling exhibit leaves!

My most favorite place of all in Kansas City!! Love everything about this place, so much stories touched my heart I cried on my first trip heartwarming feeling to see this historic stunning architecture been frozen in time. I’ve been visiting this place three times now and will come back for more. It’s a family-friendly adventure no doubt a truly magnificent place to spend with your families. Can’t wait for more special events to come especially during Xmas. There’s a link connecting this place to Sea life , Lego Land and Crown Center Plaza where you can find stores and various kinds of international cuisines.

Great place to walk around. They have a big, model Railroad setup that is free to visit. A gift shop, restaurant and a science area for kids (cost). Lots of history too. Our toddler enjoyed the visit too.

Love that they have the Amtrak station here. Like always, I like the 1930 vibe and the restaurants in the building. The souvenirs vending machine has some cool stickers. Lots of displays to remember our history.

What a wonderful place to visit if your in Kansas. Stunning from the outside in, historic and beautiful. There is so much to see that explains the history of the station. They have a great coffee place, a beautiful restaurant for lunching at and a very stylish restaurant called Pierponts which looks like it has been transported by into a different era. Let's not forget the amazing science part where families are able to explore amd learn.

We’ve done many trips here over the years and had a membership a number of years ago when our kids were younger.
Our most recent visit was for the Holiday Reflections(during Covid). We had tickets and they did a good job limiting the crowd, for public safety of course.
The setup and arrangements were every wells space so people weren’t on top of each other. Staff were very welcoming.

This is a great place to visit. I love the architecture of the building and all of the history connected to it. The basement always has an exhibit that you can tour. It was a Mayan exhibit when I went. I love that you can eat at the restaurant, get a drink, or simply just explore.
I included a picture showing the second and third floors. Most people miss this experience but it is worth it. The second and third floors have little museum exhibits all along the halls to teach you about the history of the building and the trains. It's really interesting and the views are amazing. I even captured a picture of the World War I museum across the street.
We visited with my mother-in-law who used a wheelchair and all of these sites are completely accessible. I recommend visiting and perhaps having lunch while you are there. It's fun for all ages.

Go to the 4 level exhibit on the south side!
It isn't marked well, but obvious once you enter one of the elevators on either of the south corners. It explains the entire history of the station, why it was built where it was, how it was used, and, the downfall and long restoration process. Detailed maps and written explanations were very informative. The only issue was that the middle portion of the third level was inaccessible due to locked doors. It was also strangely neglected. The motion sensing lights and video displays were not being activated by anyone but me on a Sunday afternoon when the main floor was full of people looking around.

The street cars are not running until further notice they are replaced with buses. We specifically went to ride the street car with my two year old bc he loves stuff like that only to see they were gone… we did still see the model trains and stand on the bridge over the trains and that was really cool!

Awesome example of early 1900’s craftsmanship. Get to the 3rd floor observation deck for a perfect spot to people watch and relax. The old clock has been restored and the WW1 museum is right across from it.

What Kansas City has done with Union Station is beautiful. It's such a wonderful way to preserve this important building and to teach visitors about the important role it played not only in the history of the city, but in American history.
My grandmother was born and raised in Kansas City, and I never came to visit when she was alive. Stepping into Union Station was a way to see a place that she frequented when she was growing up in Kansas City 90 years ago. She traveled by train often.
There's something for everyone in Union Station. I especially enjoyed being able to park there (visiting Union Station is free, but there is a fee to park) and then take the streetcar to other parts of the city to continue exploring.
It was a lovely way to spend a few hours of an afternoon.

Awesome place to spend a day.
We visited at Christmas time and that added more beauty because of the lights.
The train exhibition was very nice and interesting to watch. They decorated a hall with lights and had so many events. Kids can easily spend and enjoy a day. They set up a lot of photo frames where you can capture fantastic photos.
Clean and good parking area.
You can experience the "Street Car" which is starting from Union Station

Classic Kansas City icon. Always has fun exhibits and activities for the family. We love going to the planetarium and using the link over to crown center. You can park for free in river market then catch the Streetcar over for free too. Admission to Union Station is free but the activities inside are mostly paid attractions. The grand hall is really cool and the hallway back to the link shows photos and stories from the construction and opening of what was once the largest train station in the country and was one of the last built of its size.

Union Station in KC is pretty compared to some others! It has a few restaurants throughout, along with some local shopping for souvenirs or local favorites! A movie theater, Lockout Rooms, Science City (for kids) and more! This visit was for the "special Spider-Man exhibit"..... as you can tell! The exhibit was "okay!" Great camera and light works, nice displays of vintage comic books 📚, and several movie used props! Great for adults, but not much for kids until they get to the retail shop to look around and make purchases! Ehhhh, it was alright, but by the time we ventured thru the rest of Union Station and bought ice cream 🍦 😋, it made it all worthwhile! 😉

All aboard the praise train for Union Station in Kansas City! This hub is the ultimate express route to a fantastic time. The architecture is like a well-orchestrated symphony of steel tracks, and the atmosphere is electric with the buzz of passengers.
The staff here are conductors of hospitality, ensuring your journey is smooth and delightful. The exhibits are a first-class ticket to history, offering a scenic route through time. The ambiance is so charming that it's like a cozy train compartment on a cross-country adventure.

Our visit to the science center was both educational and enjoyable. The diversity of facts, especially the classic display affirming the biological basis of gender, was appreciated. My kids were engaged and learned a lot through interactive exhibits. It’s a testament to the center’s commitment to education. We’re grateful for the enriching experience and the staff’s dedication. A must-visit for curious minds of all ages. Five stars for an unforgettable day of learning and fun.

The World War Museum and Memorial is a museum dedicated to the history of World War I. The museum has a large collection of photos, weapons, and more. It is the only public museum in the United States dedicated to WWI.
This is a large museum with wonderful architecture. The rooms are easy to get lost in, in the fun, adventurous way.
The Reflection rooms have a wonderful atmosphere— a soundproof box to let yourself by fully immersed in the music and the stories told.
Enjoy a presentation into the mind of the soldiers on the battle fronts, as you look down to see them trek onward.
Full of real relics of the time, it could make a great school trip or scavenger hunt.
A wonderful place, worth visiting whether you live in Kansas City, or are passing through to elsewhere.

Beautiful memorial. The trip up the tower is totally worth it. It's a tight ride on the way up, with a few extra steps (about 1 flight), but the view is gorgeous. The views of the skyline are almost as good from the base of the tower, too. Would love to go back to go through the museums when we have more time. Love that it is one of the only WW I memorials in the country, and it's right in our back yard.

This is a beautiful, yet serene place. It is a great reminder of the sacrifice that the military men and women of our country have continually been willing to do for our freedoms and for the freedoms of others in other countries. It is also a a great reminder of How our country started. And how blessed we are to be in this country and how those in charge of our country used to put God first. I highly recommend all locals and tourists to visit the site. And read the placard‘s that they took the time to put in when it was founded.
This is also a great place to just walk around and burn off some of that great Kansas City food.

A very nice way to honor WWI veterans and to see the city (Kansas City MO) and to see the huge phallic symbol called the Liberty Memorial. Freud would have had a field day! May the city enjoy lots of inspiration. It’s beautiful at night and you can take really breathtaking pics. There doesn’t seem to be a curfew for this area so feel free to enjoy he sights anytime. And go see the museum.

This is a great place to visit if you have the time and are interested in learning more about WWI. I went on a school trip here, and we walked around with a guide. But I also enjoyed the fact that you had the choice to have an audio walkthrough or to just walk through without any guide. There's plenty to see and plenty to do, if you ever have time to stop by I would suggest spending some time here! 5/5

Nice memorial with paid museum inside. However if you just want to stroll by, you can explore the museum ground for free. From the memorial ground you can see the Kansas City skyline (a very nice view when it is not cloudy). The museum itself is informational and the staff members were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended if you are visiting Kansas City!

Visited in May, 2023. Nestled in Kansas City, Missouri, the WW1 Memorial and Museum is a fantastic sightseeing spot to experience. The memorial opened in 1926 and is the United States' official memorial and museum dedicated to World War 1. It rests upon a plateau that overlooks Kansas City. From the top of the memorial you will have amazing views of the surrounding area, including downtown Kansas City. For a small fee, you can go to the top of the tower for more breathtaking views. The tower is over 200 feet tall. If you are able bodied, a short walk away is Union Station and Crown Center. A short distance more is the Power and Light District. Local historic restaurant, Town Topic, is nearby as well. You can easily see all of these places in a few hours or make the area an all-day outing. The WW1 Memorial includes the Liberty Memorial Mall and parks in the surrounding area. When the National Football League held their player draft in 2023 in Kansas City, they included the entire WW1 Memorial and parks as well as Union Station. Over 300,000 people attended that NFL draft and were comfortably accommodated. If you are going to be in KC or are passing through KC, I highly recommend carving out a little bit of time to enjoy this experience.

We only visited the park and grounds since the museum was closed when we drove through Kansas City. It is pretty much a park so it's a good place to stop for a picnic. The tower is of course the centerpiece, worthy enough to visit on its own. The area behind the museum has some nice wall sculptures and fountains. It also offers a good view of the Kansas City skyline, especially with Union Station in the foreground.

My husband and I were in Kansas City for a couple of days and went to the National WWI Museum. We honestly didn't know much about this world war so glad we did to learn about it. All of the volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable.
We purchased our tickets online and went right when it opened at 10am. There was an entry for those who had tickets already and we got right in with no wait. Reading the other reviews, we went first to the Memorial Tower, again with no wait. The view of Kansas City was fantastic even on a cloudy day.
We then viewed the exhibit right next to the tower before going back down to the main level. We did rent the headphones which we listened to as we walked through the exhibits. It was very informative as well as the videos that played in the museum.
Definitely worth going to and we learned a lot!

Really great setup for history buffs. There is a lot of focus on all countries involved as opposed to just the USA. Actual objects from world war 1 are on display everywhere. Highly recommend to anyone if in the area. The tickets are not expensive either.

I visited on a Saturday for my birthday. It was my first time here and not my last. I can't give a totally honest review because I didn't see it all. We ran out of time, so definitely set aside more than 3 or 4 hours to see it all. But I'm also the kind of person that reads every bit of information, so it probably takes less time if you don't. From what I did see, though, it was an amazing museum. The view from the tower is great and the staff were very nice. The staff also know their stuff they seem to actually enjoy the history of it, so they gave great answers to our questions. This museum was really good. I definitely recommend it if you plan ahead. Definitely don't go like an hour or 2 before they close you wouldn't get to see much and if I remember correctly the tower closes at 4:25 but I could be wrong on that. I loved it, and I will definitely be coming back.

Must-see. It's expensive, but it's so worth it. Very nice design. Great displays filled with information. Unfortunately the entire outdoor pavilion and tower were closed when I got there. I spent 2.5 hours there but I also tend to read everything. I would guess most people would need at least 1.5 hours to get a reasonable view of everything. One small beef: The mock trench looked like it would be really cool, but it was difficult to see with the small viewing windows.

A must-see in Kansas City, the National WW1 Museum and Monument is a beautiful, informative, well-maintained national landmark dedicated to a war that has largely been forgotten about by the American public despite its huge influence in shaping the world we live in today. Anytime someone comes and visits me, I bring them here and all of them have said it's incredible. Tickets are very reasonably priced at $18 per adult or $20 if you buy a combo ticket to go up in the tower (which you should, the view is amazing). While the museum and its associated exhibits cost money and are open from 10-5, the actual memorial and its surrounding grounds are completely free to explore by the public and open at night too. Pro tip: If you have the time, I highly recommend making a second trip to the memorial after sundown as you can treat yourself to the best view of the city skyline while it's all lit up at night

Absolutely loved going to this museum. We love history, and this was a great stop. I recommend getting there early definitely in the summertime if you plan to go to the tower to see amazing views of the city. They closed down at noon when we went because of the heat. It is within walking distance to the money museum, and Union Station. They have several things to do, and you learn. I could have spent a couple more hours really digging into the history. Super helpful staff! They have a ton of knowledge and want you to enjoy the museum. We bought 3 combo ticket to go up in the tower and an extra exhibit for $25. I would highly recommend the tower to see KC from a great vantage point.

If you are in Kansas City and have any interest in history, particularly WWI history, then please do yourself a favor and visit this excellent memorial and museum. My only regret is that I should have allotted more time to visit. I had about 2 hours and I wished I would have allotted 3-4 hours. I am more of a WWII history buff but wanted to learn more about the First World War. I was able to find out details I hadn’t heard previously and would have loved to have more time to learn more. I paid for the museum entry and the add on for going up the tower. I would recommend doing both for sure. I visited while in town during the week but would have LOVED to check out the virtual tench experience that they offer only on the weekends. I am sure it would have been fascinating and also very humbling to see what the tench experience would have looked like. We are so far removed that I don’t believe folks appreciate what it was really like to endure such warfare and hardship. The few guides I talked to were very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I highly recommend visiting this museum and memorial if you are in Kansas City. Take time to take it all in and really try to understand the conditions of the world, what people sacrificed, and what led up to the war. It was a time of great technological change as well as unrest between nations not unlike what we have been experiencing for several years ourselves now in our current time. We must not forget our past so we do not make the same mistakes again.

The museum is split up into three parts, the indoor exhibit, the monument itself, and the upstairs exhibit. We started by getting our tickets downstairs inside, then went up to the upstairs exhibit, we went up the monument tower to the top, then went back down and enjoyed the museum. Plan on the entire experience taking a day. It's a very well designed museum, covering the different sides of the conflict, and why each country was involved in this massive and horrible war.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a renowned institution in Kansas City, housing an impressive art collection that spans 5,000 years. The museum consists of two large buildings, one designed in neoclassical style and the other with modern architecture. It showcases a variety of artworks from different regions and time periods, including ancient civilizations like Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Etruscan.
I absolutely love this place. Most of the galleries are free to the public and the exhibits that require a fee are very moderately priced. Nelson has one of the most significant art of Asia exhibits in the United States. In fact, many of the specimens here in the Nelson are shown in my Art of East Asia Art History text book for my BFA. This place has a fun little Egyptian art exhibit with a crusty old mummy which I must say is very well preserved and the display is exquisite. The restaurant has high quality foods at relatively affordable prices. You could spend a whole day here if you wanted. The sculpture yard is a good place to have a picnic on a warmer day and overall I’d just highly recommend you check out the Nelson Atkins.

Incredible and fantastic! Could not recommend more, 10 out 10. We literally just went to the Louvre and I enjoyed it here more. Not crowded, cool and refreshing air-conditioning. Beautiful artwork, wonderfully displayed. I felt like I got to go to a private section of the Louvre. Had I not gone I would have no idea how nice it was, we went across the world to see the thinker, when you had a copy right here, just a few states away!!! The glass maze was fun. Our son enjoyed the scavenger hunt, he puts on the pin he won on each shirt wears each day.

This place is wild! We came for the shuttlecocks and stayed for the mini golf. Spent a little over 90 minutes here and didn't even step foot in the building, had way too much fun in the sculpture garden. Currently have an instillation where you can mini golf your way through the iconic pieces of the sculpture garden, I think we had more fun as three grown adults than the group of kids next to us. Great way to spend an afternoon and spark discussion about the necessary levels of stuffiness surrounding art.

This was what made our trip to Kansas City very memorable. The building is classical architecture; the art is top notch, world class. Beautiful! I cannot overstate how gorgeous the entire inside exhibits spaces were, especially the restaurant Rozzelle. Like walking into Rome! The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a masterpiece of architectural design, seamlessly blending classical and modern elements to create a visually stunning experience. The neoclassical facade, reminiscent of ancient Greek temples, evokes a sense of grandeur and timelessness, while the sleek, contemporary additions add a dynamic contrast, reflecting the museum's commitment to innovation and creativity. Inside, the expansive galleries are bathed in natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere for visitors to explore the impressive collection of artworks. The thoughtful layout and spaciousness of the museum allow for unhurried contemplation, enhancing the appreciation of each piece. Overall, the architecture of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art not only serves as a fitting backdrop for its world-class collection but also stands as a work of art in its own right, enriching the cultural landscape of Kansas City.

Great museum, I had a lot of fun with my son. I was grateful the entrance fee was free and found free parking nearby.
It was a great experience and educational. We went on a Monday (no school) and it wasn’t packed. I took lots of pictures and was amazed how art has changed over the centuries.
The flow was somewhat logical although not chronological if you’re not careful. There are paintings, sculptures, and stonework.
Be sure to download the app Smartify, since you can take a picture of artwork and it will give additional details as you go around.
I’m thankful that there seems to be appropriate seating conveniently placed around if you need to get off your feet.
I’ll definitely be back.

Had a great afternoon exploring the gallery. The person at the front was very helpful when she learned it was our first time there. She showed us the map, and walked us through the exhibits that are there. It's fascinating to see all of the art and items on display, and even though I'm not very well versed, I found it to be very exciting to see everything. Spent about 2.5 hours there, but easily could have been there longer. My 15 year old son had a great time too.

Nelson-Atkins Museum is such a hidden gem and probably one of the top museums on the country! The collection is phenomenal, especially the Asian art that’s collected from specific periods that’s hard to obtain. On top of it all, it’s free to visit! Really love the exterior and the shuttlecocks and the sculpture garden. I’ll recommend spending a whole day here and grabbing lunch at Rozzelle. Use the map to plan out which sections are the most important to you and check them out first before they get crowded and then you can cover the rest. There is also a nice coffee shop in the museum. The staff is nice and helpful. Parking is $14 for the whole day and it’s covered and cool. Make sure to get a reservation beforehand to make entry easy and seamless.

I was really surprised by the museum. I've been to many large museums, and just always assumed Missouri wouldn't have a great one. Was I wrong lol. This place was amazing, there are a lot of great exhibits and works of art to see here. Not only that, you can visit for free! I spent a good 3.5 hours just looking around, I will certainly be coming back and donating.
I would like to see more historical items, there seems to be an abundance of paintings, which are nice, but it seems to outweigh the amount of historical objects they have by a lot.

Entrance to the museum is free but you need to check in at the desk and get a wrist band. There are so many great things to look at in there, and i feel like you'd need more than 6 hours to really see and appreciate everything. The museum staff is amazing, and everyone seems passionate about their job. I love this place.

One of the most beautiful art museums we’ve ever been to. Lots of variety in new and old sculptures and paintings! The workers were also super friendly with guiding us around and even game us a voucher to visit the temporary exhibits!

100% worth the stop whether you have an hour or all day. Easily could spend a day exploring this museum. I wish I had more time and will be coming back to catch more of the exhibits. Excellent help around to point you in the right direction as well.
All the exhibits I did get to see were so amazingly presented and had information easily presented along side each piece.

What a magical place for all ages and art lovers of all types and perspectives. Art through the ages presented in thoughtful and engaging ways. Parking is extra if you are not a member, but admission is free. Mostly helpful staff, some are better than others, but overall very helpful. You could spend days there and not see everything. Free coat check is a bonus and a terrific restaurant as well. Can’t wait to go back.

Kansas City · Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
I heard about the special collection of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art long time ago from books, it has about 35,000 collections. Although the number is much less than well known museums such as the Metopolitan Museum of Art in New York, but there are some top-notch collections in many categories. Although it is located in the central agricultural area, the museum has a unique collection and a broad vision, thanks to the five curators who are good at grasping historical opportunities. The first, third and fifth are experts in Western art history, and the second and fourth are experts in Chinese and Eastern art history. The most important collection of the museum is European and Chinese art, followed by Japanese art. My ability to appreciate art is very limited, so I can only take a quick look and watch the excitement.
The scenery outside the museum is beautiful, making it a popular place for portrait and wedding photography. Admission is free, and the collections in the museum are all authentic. It is a bit surprising that it is so generous, especially when I saw many well known art works later, I appreciate the sincerity of the museum. The European section has many great impressionist works by Van Gogh, Monet, Gauguin and others; the Chinese section has many extremely precious stone carvings from the Northern Wei Dynasty and Longmen Grottoes, the last one is the Northern Wei Dynasty's "Queen Worshiping Buddha", which comes from Longmen Grottoes, the folds of the clothes are flowing and exquisite. There are also Yuan blue and white porcelain and Ming and Qing porcelain, which are all priceless treasures; the collection in the Japanese section are also very interesting. After digesting and absorbing outside cultures, the Japanese have taken a different approach to religions and arts. Compared with the elegance of Chinese literati, Japanese art is full of folk customs, and the understanding of music, chess, calligraphy and painting is also quite different.
Two and a half hours passed in a flash. I was the last one to get out when the museum closed, and I felt very fulfilled.

Beautiful experience at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Attended Native American cultural festival on Sunday, March 3, 2024. We were able to introduce our 10 year old to the wonderful art collection of the museum. For the festival, there was a shuttle from UMKC to ease crowds. Was a great day! Highly recommend for KC residents and those from out of town.

The exhibits here are very interesting and educational. We need at least half a day to look at all the exhibits in detail. Though the museum is free, there is a fee of $14 for the parking garage. The first 30 minutes are free. It’s next to impossible to get street parking.

Since first visiting back in Spring 2019, some of the exhibits in the Bloch building have changed to keep the museum interesting. The museum had a wide variety of artwork to look at including contemporary, African, Native American, Japanese, Chinese, Southeast Asian, French, German, Old American, and Greek.

This is a lovely art museum filled with works by many of the greatest European artists, with an especially good collection of romantic and impressionist paintings. I was shocked at how strong the collection was - for instance, I would rank Nelson-Atkins well ahead of the Guggenheim in New York, and entrance is free here. The grounds are gorgeous as well, and the inclusion of the sculpture park makes this a must see for anyone near the area.
Country Club Plaza is a sprawling shopping area that is home to many stores and restaurants. The plaza was built in 1923 in an auto-centric neighborhood with influences of Spanish architecture, such as murals and statues. It is also home to the Rafael Hotel, a vintage chic boutique hotel.
Nice places to visit, shop and dine within walking distance from the Marriot hotel. Perfect for an afternoon walk with the perfect KC fall weather.
Most of the restaurants required a reservation so plan ahead.
Oh we even got to spot Spider-Man (apparently not a rare sight) he was to fast to take a picture.

Nice area with lots of shops to look at. A lot of the shops in my opinion, were on the expensive side or were more geared towards females(clothing), but still enjoyed walking around. The architecture of the buildings was pretty neat.

The scenery and architecture were beautiful, but it would have been helpful if they had a map available to locate stores and other points of interest. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant walk.

So fun and enjoyable waking around. I would recommend anytime of year but the lighting ceremony is something to see and experience
It’s very nice but bring $$ The plaza is fun. They keep updating it and making it better. But it is not a cheap area. Bring $$ but worth it.

Great place to take a walk on a beautiful day! Much to see and a variety of things to do. After walking a couple of miles and taking a few pictures, it's always nice to stop in at Barnes and Noble's second floor for a snack and iced caramel coffee. 😊

Love walking on the Kansas City country club Plaza with my husband and my son, sitting at a sidewalk café, drinking iced coffee, stopping for lunch at a great restaurant. Love the architecture and the walking mall. Great Experience with my family.

Country Club Plaza is Kansas City’s most famous shopping district. On Thanksgiving the Plaza lighting ceremony kicks off the holiday shopping season.
While it’s most beautiful with a bit of snow the lights and the fountains bring an almost fairytale appearance to the Plaza.
This is where you will find the higher end shopping stores and interesting restaurant choices.

The Plaza is such a great place around the holidays with the Christmas lights on and the horse drawn carriages out.

Stores and sidewalks were pretty clean. Lots of pretty cool stores with fancy things. A lot of cops all over the place. Went here for a small outing and there are not enough barbecue restaurants. I really wanted to go to a barbecue restaurant. Lots of odd activities going on. There. Was this guy dressed like Spider-Man but instead of acting like Spider-Man he was just looking into people's cars so that was weird. Lots of people asking for money. Overall a decent place to come visit though.

Great variety of stores, Vineyard Vines, KC store (awesome) and a good local Cafe. Most stores you regularly see at home, but fun outdoor walking area with fountains.

Love shopping here ❤️. As well as simply driving or walking through.
There are so many places to shop, eat, or just visit.
Fascinating things, places, and people to learn about. Interesting artwork throughout the Plaza to discover.
My personal favorites stops are IT'S SUGAR for my sweet tooth, and VANS for fun everyone is incredible in VANS. One of these days I'll have more time to make it in to a few more shops to actually shop. Think I just spend too long in my favorite two.
But I WILL make it in to see a Movie, that IS a must.
And perhaps a meal sometime.
NOW I MUST SAY no matter who you are at least one time in your life you really do need to go see the PLAZA LIGHTS.
IT DOESN'T MATTER if you wait until AFTER the HOLIDAY SEASON two go see them, I ALWAYS WAIT, I can't stand crowds. But I do LOVE seeing not only the lights but the Horse Drawn Carriages and the couple of Cinderella Horse Drawn Carriages.
To sum it up DEFINITELY WORTH THE VISIT 😉

Most people’s favorite place in KC area. This amazing shopping center has many restaurants, cafes, and stores. You can find some of the best Italian, Brazilian, Chinese, seafood and more. The area is very beautiful and has many fountains. Kansas City is known as a city of fountains. You’ll know why when you visit this beautiful area. Also, many people enjoy this area because of the beautiful and colorful architecture.

We stopped in on a weekday afternoon during spring break. It was moderately busy with locals and tourists. We visited several spots which had friendly staff and were well maintained. They have parking lots on most of the blocks and street parking as well. Most of it is handicap accessible although there are some tougher spots. They have bus routes to and from the plaza which makes is nice to not have to drive. Most of the stores are trendier and thus more expensive.

I actually grew up in Kansas City but have not lived there for many years. As a teen and in my early 20's, I spent time on The Plaza, mostly just hanging out.
It is a beautiful place year round but especially in the summer and at Christmas time. It is a shopping area, not in the downtown area, like today's outdoor mall areas. It opened in 1923 so there are many older, historic buildings but is very beautiful. There is lots of shopping and dining experiences to be had. At one time, there was a movie theater but apparently the last movie theater closed in 2019.
On a summer evening, it is nice to stroll around after dining at one of the many restaurants. Shopping is also one of the 'afternoon sports' of The Plaza. One very nice thing in this day and age, there is plenty of free parking, that way you can spend your money on shopping and the restaurants. It can be a nice place to take someone special.
Christmas time is a big deal because of the Christmas lights. There is a lighting ceremony on Thanksgiving evening that tends to draw crowds. This has been going on for over 90 years though this year was my first time going to the actual lighting ceremony. I decided to rent some hotel rooms and invite my family to Thanksgiving dinner on The Plaza, followed by a stroll to the lighting ceremony. Even if one does not go to the lighting ceremony, it is worth it to go down to see the lights some time between Thanksgiving night and the first week of January.
There are several hotels on and around The Plaza area also. It is definitely one of those places that I recommend seeing if you are ever in the Kansas City area for a few days.

Very prerty area with lots of shops and restaurants, seems secure but still got approached by a woman asking for cash, she had a walkie-talkie and I thought that was very odd. One guy is eating on the floor, probably homeless. Also, there are no public bathrooms. This is very strange. The stores do not let customers use the restrooms. They send you to the restaurants. But other than that, it's a very nice place.
Mirella Scandaliato — Google review
Went for a friend's weekend, what a great area. Thankfully the Christmas lights were still on, makes for a beautiful added touch on cool architecture. Nice variety of upscale restaurants and name brand shops, with a mix of local spots to keep it authentic. Quite a few hotels within walking range, our view was pretty great even from 2 blocks away.

Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is an Overland Park family attraction that features a one-room schoolhouse, nature trails, farm animals, butterfly gardens, birds of prey, show gardens, and more. The attraction is open seasonally (April through October) and offers a variety of activities for children of all ages.
A lot of fun to be had here! The mining experience was fun! We also enjoyed petting and feeding the animals. Would also recommend the wagon ride, very fun as well!

A great morning at Deanna Rose Farmstead. Kids love it! Chickens, cows, horses, goats, pigs, fish & more to see (and even feed). There are plenty of trees so even on hot summer days you can find shade. Playgrounds & a general store & ice cream shop makes for a great outing. Lots to do! And entry fee is reasonable for a large family!!

Great place to take our 2 year old granddaughter. She loved all the animals and plants. We ended with a stop at the ice cream shop. Even though we thought it would be busy there was enough space to wander without running into others.

Cheap entry fee for a nice outdoor experience for the kids. Favorites: feeding the baby goats with bottles and feeding the grown goats. Plenty of shade to stay cool and small water spray area. Playgrounds and activities for all ages. Wish all the "characters" in old town building were more interactive. Although bank "employee" gave us a lot of good history and explained to kids how banks used to work.

This has become a favorite spot for my family. Love the fact that it's so easily accessible for the parking the ticket prices the areas and how everything about it is so perfect. In order for me to rate a place five stars I would have to have a wonderful experience and that I did. I love that Bald Eagle although questions popped in my head about haha. Very great place to takes amazing photos with the family. Great interactive areas and informative. Super friendly for children to enjoy. Love their little shops with their western theme. Great assortment of animals I didn't expect to see. Definitely recommend if you want something calm and easy to enjoy

We went to the Deanna Rose Pumpkin Patch with my toddler. It was really cute, we got to take a horse-drawn hay ride from the farmstead to the pumpkin patch.
The pumpkin patch had lots of different kinds of activities for all age ranges. Mini golf, corn-hole, checkers, slides, mazes, hay-pits to jump in, hoops to shoot basketballs in, bowling for kids (you set the bowling ball on a slide and it rolls down and knocks over the pins).
My favorite part was that they had a separate area for toddlers. Sometimes it can be overwhelming for younger kids to play with the 'big kids' and they took that into account and provided an area for them to play and have fun.

Took my family here as this is a place I have enjoyed for many years growing up. The price is perfect at just $3 per person 3 and up. There is a vast variety of animals to see and even animals you can feed. My daughter who is 1 enjoyed the ducks and the baby goats who wanted to nibble on her clothes. It has old timey places to explore and well over 200 animals on the farm. I enjoy the fact that it has a hay ride pulled by the most beautiful pair of horses I’ve laid eyes on. At certain times you can milk the cow and if you have older children fishing is a plus!

It is such a nice area to walk around and see animals. We love the feel of the old time stores. Don't forget to take a vintage picture! They're hilarious. There's a general store and ice cream shop. Admission is very affordable.
You can easily see the whole area in a day.
Bring quarters to buy feed. Dispensers are available throughout the area to feed some of the animals. There is a playground area and plenty of shade. We love looking at all the beautiful plants grown here, too!
They also have movie nights!

This is a fun place to go with the little ones and it really doesn't cost much. We had fun playing in the water while looking for special rocks that you buy from them. We got to feed goats, which the grandkids always love to do. Hayride and a park that was fun also. We didn't do the pony ride or fishing because it was Sunday, and we had to be home for Chiefs game. We had a wonderful time. We can't wait for the pumpkin area to open up to enjoy that next time.
Michelle Hobbs — Google review
This place is more than worth the $5 entry fees for what it provides. A beautiful space for young children to interact with nature and learn about farming and animals with the addition of multiple playground areas.
Minus one star because many of the facilities, especially the wash stations, benches, and playground areas could be much better attended. If one person litters or vandalizes them in any way, there appears to be virtually no one there who will fix it with any expediency. Many of the wash stations were extremely dirty, littered, rusted, and in disrepair, there was dirty stagnant water with trash due to the unleveled concrete in the children's splash pad, trash in the artificially dyed blue pond with the fake swans, and trash on every other bench. They need to hire more on-site maintenance personnel and security to regulate unruly patrons who care nothing of the public good.
Otherwise, this is an ideal place to spend a day with children productively.

We love this place. It takes us about 15 min to get here from our house and we have been here a few times and just keep wanting to go back. It is free from 2 in the afternoon so I sometimes pick my children at their day care sooner and we head there. Still enough time to see animals, feed goats, ride tractors, get ice cream and have fun at the playground. Definitely a perfect place for families!

Very affordable! And so much to do! I had my 2 year old and 9 month old and we spent about 2.5 hours and didn’t see everything but they were getting tired by that point so we called it a day. They have multiple play grounds and of different kinds. Some are all about tractors while others are more traditional or others are done around a garden. You can feed baby goats, big goats, fish, go fishing, see milking with a big machine, and go on a hayride pulled by horses.

We drove over 4hrs from Iowa. We had a great time, the kids loved it. Unfortunately after a long car ride and the sun finally deciding to come out, it was really humid, so we didn't stay as long as we planned, but we have decided we are coming back with the kids next year, and when the weather is a little cooler. Definitely recommend going, it is a great place to take kids

This is one of the most magical places I’ve visited. I would return again in a heart beat. I visited the Arboretum when it was new, years and years ago. I remember it was pretty, but the plants were small. To say I was blown away today would be an understatement. The gardens have expanded like several people with magical green hands have been hard at work for decades. The water features are soothing. The tree cover is refreshing. There are air conditioned bathrooms with running water just when you need them. What a fabulous experience to come back to after seeing the beginnings of these humble gardens. I highly recommend the Arboretum to guests of all ages and interests.

The Overland Park Arboretum is a nice park that is themed in a botanical fashion. There are nice flower gardens. There are nice paths through woods. There are mini railroad sets which sometimes are running - when the area is staffed.
I did prefer the arboretum when it was a no fee city park. More people have to decide if they want to spend $5 per person to go for a walk in the park.
They have a nice new wedding venue, complete with a reception area, meeting rooms, a snack shop and a gift shop. While it is a nice facility, I have to ask: Why was the decision made to use a bunch of land at a botanical garden for a large building and parking area that are not botanically themed? Pave paradise and put up a parking lot.

🌟✨ Terra Luna Event at the Overland Park Arboretum was a dazzling experience! The lights in the show were absolutely breathtaking, creating a magical atmosphere. The tour took us on a 1.5-hour journey through the trails with multiple captivating shows, but it was disappointingly crowded. It felt like they allowed too many people for one time slot, which detracted from the overall experience. Nonetheless, the Monet gardens and the scenic walk around the lake were absolutely stunning, making it a worthwhile visit if you can avoid the crowds. 🌼🚶♂️🌌

The electric glow at the arboretum is incredible! Spent an hour there and could've stayed for another 30-60 minutes if we had the time. It's beautiful at night and if you take the longer path (1/3 mile) the trees block a bunch of the wind so it's quite pleasant even on a cold night. Highly recommend this for date nights and family outings. Thanks to all of the people at the arboretum to make this happen!
