It's a beautiful place to relax. The beach is very clean. There is paid parking available and its limited.
We were able to see the dolphins swimming, crabs and little transparent fish or jellyfish.

Cape May Beach in New Jersey is a gem on the East Coast. The beach itself is pristine, offering a perfect spot for relaxation. The array of delightful food joints enhances the overall experience, ensuring a satisfying culinary journey. What sets this beach apart is the added charm of walking around the town, immersing yourself in its unique atmosphere. If you happen to visit in July, the breathtaking sight of dolphins showcasing their hunting and teaching techniques, especially with their calves, adds an enchanting and unforgettable element to your beachside moments. Cape May Beach truly captures the essence of a perfect coastal getaway.

Typical of Eastern Coastal Beaches, Cape May features cooler water and sloped shorelines. This part of Jersey is beautiful, and the town has a Victorian charm and flair that make it an unbelievable walking town filled with great little eateries. Parking can be a bit tough, so get there early

See previous posts regarding the Atlantic Ocean and the ocean at cape May for further clarity.
I’d ask google for greater clarity regarding the distinction of these places.
But regardless of that- the ocean is beautiful and a great place to watch the sunrise.

Cape May Beach is a beautiful space to spend hours or days, whether in bright sunshine or overcast, and even in the winter month of February. This beach is greatly loved by all who visit.

Admission for ages 12 and over is $8. The beach is clean. This is the best beach in New Jersey.

Nice clean beach. You pay 8$ per person for the day. Clean amenities, shower to clean you up. Small snack shack. Ticks all boxes. Saw some dolphins as well. What more could beach day look like.

Absolutely adore this place! It’s so peaceful and I even saw dolphins! I’ll keep coming back every summer

The oldest beach community in the US. Clean quite, family 👪 friendly. The views are amazing and the residents take care of their community. The beach is well maintained and the access to the beach in the summer one must purchase a beach tag. It's worth the price. Great waves amazing sunsets. It's a little pricey but worth the trip

I love the beach. I like Cape May beach because is very clean and peaceful!
Tammy Alicea — Google review
Very beautiful place! Not so loud like in other beaches, not so windy . The sand is clear and an area got a lot of space as for peoples as for car parking. Along the road there are many hotels and various shops and cafes. Sometimes you can see dolphins in the ocean even from the beach.
Maks Vasko — Google review
Clean, family friendly, and peaceful. Better than the rowdy crowds you encounter in Wildwood (unless you're into that scene). The beach is definitely worth it.

The Willow Creek Winery provides a picturesque backdrop for weddings with gardens and vineyards, as well as a restaurant. This winery has tours and wine tastings that are sure to please guests of all ages.
Outstanding winery with amazing spaces! All the wines were excellent (we drank as much as we could!) and the food we sampled was very tasty. The winery is situated on beautiful grounds with several spots to sit and enjoy a glass. We did not eat in the restaurant but the menu looked very appealing and the dining area looks great. If you are in Cape May, definitely make time to visit.

Went on a Sunday at 12:30 in May. Wasn't too crowded. Free on premise parking. Indoor or outdoor seating available. Outdoor is in the sun, nothing to shade you, suggest sunblock. Service was very slow. Waitress was very kind, but we had several issues. One was the slowness. There were 3 of us, each got a flight of wine, one of them was incorrect. It took so long for her to come around again she ended up drinking them anyway. I had the sangria flight. I preferred the white sangria over the red--the mixed sangria was da bomb. It had a pineapple undertone and was on the fruity sweet side. The pretzel appetizer is AMAZING. the pretzel is crispy (not hard) on the outside and soft on the inside, so doughy delicious. The fish sandwich was probably the favorite of the day. Nice sized fish, crispy outside and moist fish inside. Mango pulled pork sandwich was basic but good. Fries were ok. They forgot one of our dishes, so I shared mine with a friend----couldn't get help or find our waitress so we gave up and split my plate. When we asked someone for help, he asked us what our waitress looked like and what her name was so he could find her. Baffling. Paying was an issue, they only accept one credit card, so there's no splitting a check with credit cards. Used the outdoor bar to get a dole whip, which the red wine dole whip was my favorite...a MUST try!! They were running low when we were there, I suggest getting it asap when you get there, not sure why there was a shortage. Its basically wine with soft serve pineapple ice cream in it. Winery was closing early for an event--check ahead of time. It would be a great location for a special event like a wedding. Really nice grounds.

Service was fabulous! Tom was great! We received water, plates, silverware, etc. almost immediately after being seated. My boyfriend and I visited the winery with my parents and our neighbors for the first time. The grounds and winery were absolutely beautiful! We’ve been to many wineries in NJ and I would say the only two things I was disappointed with (compared to others) were 1) the charcuterie board was a little light and didn’t have honey, jelly or anything sweet to go with the savory cheeses and meats and 2) we ordered 2 cheesecake platters for dessert which was supposed to be $16 for 4 SLICES of assorted cheesecakes and they were platters with mini cheesecakes/pastries and we were charged $40 instead of $32 (which was the price we were told). Our waiter seemed to be surprised at the fact that they weren’t actual slices of cheesecake as the table next to us had actual slices of cheesecake. I was OK with the “one bill per table” since we were treating, however if I was with a group of girlfriends, etc., I would have preferred separate bills. Other than that, it was a great experience and we will definitely be back when the weather is warmer and can sit outside and enjoy the fire pits and beautiful scenery. I loved the sweet white wine - the guys all loved the dry reds - flights and several glasses! Thanks for a great day!

Wonderful scenery of the grapes growing. The grounds are up-kept and very photogenic. Staff are friendly. The wine selection is good and the wines are as advertised. I would say that not having a desert option is kind of strange for a place that serves food.

Today my fiancée and I dined here for the first time, and we had such a great experience! Our waitress, Bianca, was absolutely fantastic and so sweet! We come every few weeks from PA to stay at our camper in Estelle Manor, and wanted to give something new a try. Bianca suggested some good places for us to check out while we’re here, as well— she was just awesome! The location is beautiful, the atmosphere of the restaurant and restaurant staff is phenomenal. The food is FANTASTIC! The wine was perfect. I had the very best time here and would definitely recommend to anyone to check this place out!
Hailey Redclift — Google review
We saw the dole whip sangria on Facebook and knew we had to make a trip across the ferry to check out this winery. It is beautiful, with the heart of the winery surrounded by the vineyard and gorgeous gardens. The wine and food were delicious. Between our group, we tried 4 different wine flights. Everyone has a different taste, but I enjoyed the dry reds. The cranberry merlot was another favorite. I had a crabcake sandwich that was good, nothing spectacular. This winery is very expensive, but it was a nice trip with friends. I would return again.
Renee King — Google review
We weren't expecting great wine from a flat field in NJ, but it was even worse than we could have imagined. Even Manischewitz is a fine vintage compared to these ultra-sweet, simplistic, vinification disasters. But the scenery is gorgeous, and the people are nice, but there are lots of flies. I also was both disgusted and impressed by their creation, the sangria dole-whip "beverage" that seems to be one of their best sellers. May you continue to lead and inspire winemakers worldwide long into the future!
Andy Haas — Google review
One of our favorite lunch spots on our annual family Wildwood vacation. The grounds are gorgeous, the winery itself is enormous and inviting and they have plenty of outdoor seating as well. The menu has enough to satisfy any palate. Their wines are a mixed bag, the higher value wines are very good, and my wife and mother usually love the sangrias. My wife usually comes here to sample the Blackberry Merlot because when it's right it is her favorite drink. Sadly it's "hit or miss " I guess depending on the year. I'm usually a red wine guy, but I find the whites better here.

My bf and I planned a trip to Cape May last year for our anniversary and one of the places on our list to try was Willow Creek Winery. We visited right around sunset which was beautiful!
There is indoor and outdoor space so you can kick back, relax and enjoy your wine. There is a gift shop when you first walk in and seating. Outside there was more seating and a live band. Shortly after being seated, we were greeted by our waitress. We started off with a wine flight, a glass of sangria and a glass of their Dole whip sangria float which is seasonal so ask your server for the flavor of the day! At the time of visit, the flavor was passion fruit. The wine flight came out on a tree; I loved the presentation.
We also ordered some small bites. For starters, the asiago bruschetta which was okay. The French baguette was extremely hard to bite into but after it sat with all the juices from the tomatoes, olive oil, herbs, etc. it softened up a bit. I thought it was quite tasty. For our entrees we ordered the smash burger and fish sandwich. The fries were crispy, we just didn't like our food which is okay. I think next time we'll just stick to wine and starters.
Once we finished up, we browsed the gift shop and headed back to the Airbnb. I will be back next time I visit!

Great reds, didn't try any whites. The female bar tender was awesome and very kind. Gorgeous atmosphere/venue for a wedding. Wines a delicious but a little pricey. We'll definitely be back again.

I’ve been here quite a few times, we had had exceptional service every time. It can be costly, but again you are paying for quality. The appetizers taste freshly made and they have a great wine selection to accommodate all. Not to mention, they make themselves stand out by adding dole whip with wine. Our server Julie was very attentive to us. Our orders were brought to us in a timely manner, it was a fantastic time. We will be back for our next visit.
Mina Torres — Google review
Finally made it to Willow Creek and it was fantastic! Not really sure why the rating is anything below 4 stars. Beautifully kept vineyard, large, spacious buildings with plenty of outdoor seating and of course, delicious wine! Definitely recommend making a reservation in advance, but they take walk-ins as well, just can get crowded fast. Food menu is extensive for a winery and quality is high, definitely stop in if you're anywhere near Cape May!
Alexander Altieri — Google review
I have been to this winery three times. It wasn’t until the third time that I realized they were ripping me off. When you get the bill it has a 4% charge added to the bill. It is to cover credit card charges if you pay by credit. This is legal, however I pay cash. The first two times I was there the waitress never took off the 4% charge. The third time I was looking to see how much the sales tax was and saw the extra fee. I questioned her and she told me it is to encourage cash payment. I said okay so you are going to take it off because I’m paying cash? She just looked at me like she didn’t know what to do. I again said I’m paying cash and then she said she would take it off which she did. That is when I realized that the previous two times when I didn’t question the charge it was not removed. I called and questioned the manager. He said it was in the register and they could not get it to not include the fee. He tried to get around the fact that the fee should only be added if the customer is paying by credit card. It is illegal to charge a cash paying customer this fee. I can only imagine how much extra money this business has skimmed off of cash paying customers. I am going to contact the state and inform them of this practice. The governor has passed law that restricts the amount of a fee for credit card use. It has to be the exact amount that the business is being charged and they can not charge cash customers. They have to have sufficient signage in the building so that people are aware of the fee. BEWARE IF YOU GO HERE AND PAY CASH.

very nice winery. the pulled pork sandwich was delicious. my wife had a chicken sandwich that she enjoyed. if you don't pay with cash, they add a fee around 4% for credit cards.

So I always like to start off specially will not leave a great review again this is my opinion and my experience, and even my families opinion experience based upon how things were so the reason for a two star review we found the wines there, especially the sangria‘s were absolutely disgusting and horrible Some of the other ones are pretty good and the others were absolutely disgusting in our opinion. What we did find really nice about the place. It was a beautiful winery the building where you go in for the tasting, was absolutely stunning. Without a doubt the staff and our waitress was absolutely phenomenal in every way the food that they offer was outstanding, hands-down, outstanding, but you don’t go to a winery for a tasting based upon the food you go based upon the wine and that’s the reason why I’m leaving a two star review and not a five stars because we felt the wine was absolutely horrible. Everything else was absolutely amazing. I would encourage people to try the winery for yourself again Everybody has a different taste, and opinion.

Beautiful aesthetics & super friendly staff. It was a very hot day and we got some icy drinks that went down so smooth I felt like I could’ve had 3! We didn’t have any food but enjoyed the beautiful scenery and live music. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I had the most amazing day at Willow Creek winery! The grounds, estate wine and charcuterie was incredible but the staff made it VERY special for our anniversary. Erin and Patricia were so sweet and accommodating and gave us service you truly don’t get everywhere! We can’t wait to get back to Willow Creek ❤️

The Jersey Peach Chicken salad was amazing!!! Our waitress Season was so helpful and very attentive. Make sure to try the sangria wine flights. Will definitely come back again!!

This is a lovely place. We stopped for a wine flight and a charcuterie board. The wines were decent and the board selections very nice. The service was excellent.

This was a good experience with a good atmosphere. We got wine from sweet to butter but I did not like the bitter wine. The bitter wine made me throw up afterwards and I wanted to jump off a plane without a parachute. The middle one I did not like either and after spending so much time coming here it made me very sad and i thought about running into traffic. However the sweet wine was quite good as it made me not want to kill myself I finally enjoyed something in my life for once which is why I rated it so high so thank u for making this winery exist u guys saved my life. Goodbye and have a merry thanksgiving
The Cape May Lighthouse is a renowned historical structure located in New Jersey. It boasts picturesque views from its vantage point and also features an oil house-turned-museum with a gift shop. As one of the top 50 attractions, it draws many visitors each year to Cape May Point State Park. With its impressive collection of lighthouses, the Cape May Lighthouse undeniably stands out as a must-visit landmark for anyone interested in history and architecture.
I was surprised at how pretty the grounds were as well as the natural area surrounding the lighthouse. It's pretty tall, so expect a climb. It's worth taking an hour or so to cruise the grounds and see the water birds in the local ponds. The swans are beautiful. Ample parking and relatively level, so it's a pretty easy stroll
Bill Ruffalo — Google review
The view is definitely worth the 199 stair climb. Don't worry there are landings every 30 steps or so. I purchased my lighthouse passport book in the museum and got my first stamp today! The nature trails are easily accessible to wheelchairs, strollers and pedestrians. Today was a great day to see migrating birds and so many bird watchers were there with their cameras and bird watching equipment. As a motorcycle passenger and rider, my husband and I are making our way around the state visiting the light houses of NJ. This was our 3rd one this year and was definitely worth the two hour scenic ride.
A. ?BackSeatRider? W. — Google review
Loved walking up to the lookout tower in the light house! Pro tip: it is 199 steps. Children are welcome. Great views from the top! Great walks to the pond, in the marsh or pineland area or trails to the beach. Ample parking. Will return often and you should too!

While on a weekend spent at the shore with family, we enjoyed a beautiful day that included visiting the Cape May NJ Lighthouse. The lighthouse is beautiful. Most of my family hiked the stairs up through the lighthouse, but I chose to sit on an outside bench and watch the scenery. I have a spinal fusion, otherwise I would have climbed the stairs--around 200 of them!
Ted Hoffman — Google review
We did a 3 day excursion around Cape May
and missed the lighthouse at our last visit due to inclement weather. The 199 step illuminated spiral staircase ascent didn’t feel like a lot because of the landing areas filled with historical photos. Loved the fresh air at the top and the 360 degree view which gave a new perspective of where everything was. We didn’t explore some of the trails because they eventually intersected with the beach and we didn’t have the appropriate footwear. They have a gift shop, local museum and a friendly Visitor center where we chatted about the lantern flies detected up there a few years ago. I try to kill as many as possible and educated some visitors to do the same.
There’s ample parking and well kept grounds, I’ve even noticed some people picnicking while enjoying the scenery.

Great conversation with lighthouse keeper. About 10+ minutes to climb up the stairs. Well kept territory with public restrooms and a little free and highly informative nature museum. Kids will like it. Good way to the ocean but we skipped it due to high winds.

Standing majestically against the backdrop of the endless Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean, the lighthouse offers a mesmerizing experience. Its towering presence is not just a beacon for sailors but also a symbol of resilience and guidance. Climbing to the top with 199 steps rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a unique and unforgettable experience

Cape May is a nice place to visit anytime of the year. Myself, I tend to enjoy to go now. Springtime. The crowds are smaller and so are the sweat beads. And, most importantly, the birds are so so so plentiful. From the arriving, amazing Ospreys to the beautiful, exotic, departing Snowy Owl. If you are a photographer, this is the time to be here. 😊
Bill Franklin — Google review
Visit time and again, and you can always enjoy something new. There is more to see than the lighthouse. Today we walked out to the nature observation decks and hiked a trail that ran along the dunes and returned with a stroll down the beach back toward the lighthouse (all we trekked was pet friendly). There are other nature walks that go deeper into the protected lands where bird watching is amazing (but this hike does not welcome pets). There is a small lighthouse museum, picnic facilities, and of course, the beautiful lighthouse, all nestled in Cape May Point, a lovely place to drive through a see in the southern-most point of NJ. This would be a great bike ride, or drive there and then hike the area. It is also a great visit any time of year - we arrived in January and enjoyed the slower crowds on a sunny day in the low 50s.
Tina Schmidt (Mom's Quiet Time) — Google review
Pretty neat place to visit. I love going to light houses so this was on my list - but there’s also a cool world war 2 bunker right by it- so it’s neat seeing history too. It also has great views of the beach.

Beautiful lighthouse with spiral staircase to the top. Paid $30 online for two people which is a little much (the processing fee pushes it up). But overall great experience and wonderful views from the top!

Amazing lighthouse! Beautiful! You can walk to the top for a cost of $12. Spectacular views! Lots of history to read up on. Plenty of free parking. Nearby beach to hang out at and many other sights to see in the area. Take your time and enjoy!
Seth Crumpton — Google review
We stopped in on a Saturday in mid-February and really enjoyed climbing to the top. There are 199 steps but little books going up so you can stop and take a look out of the windows and maybe catch your breath if you need to. The stairs are wide but you might have to pause in a nook if people are coming down as you are going up and vice versa. Once at the top, you can walk around the platform. Be forewarned it could be windy up there and it was the day we went. As soon as you step out of the door there is a sign that says “No Shouting” which was probably a good idea because I immediately hollered because the wind was so strong. No need to worry tho, you are caged in and can’t fall off. Hold onto your hat tho. There was an admission fee but it was well worth it. The volunteers were nice. There was plenty of parking. I see in their website they do special events - stairway to the stars at night probably would be very cool.

A beautiful classic lighthouse on the beach. A must stop location when visiting Cape May. Be prepared to make the walk to the top its a little bit of a trek but week worth it for the breathtaking views of the area. Between the lighthouse and the defense tower you will definitely get your exercise for the day!

The tour of the Lighthouse was so much fun. The staff are very knowledgeable and have fascinating stories about the history of the lighthouse. Once you get to the top, there are beautiful views of the beach, the WWII bunker and most of Cape May! I would highly recommend and go again.

Cape May Lighthouse When visiting this lighthouse, you have to climb 200 steps to reach the top where, as expected, you can see the entire beach and a good part of the city. It is open to the public for visitation. It was built in 1859

This was a fun lighthouse. 199 steps up. Great views from the top. There are trails to the beach and other areas. Visitor center, museum, and a gift shop. Could spend a couple hours here. We did stay and have lunch after the climb. And they had a huge grassy area to run our son around catching a football.

Relaxing place to be! Love the trail and the views are amazing! You have the beach, the lighthouse, a small museum, beautiful trail to walk with 3 different trails to choose from. There is also a ruin building castle like, near the beach. 💖

Great quiet beach to chill for the day 🏖️. Many paths to walk and bird watch. Off season is the best time to go and picnic on the beach. Not the soft sand that you'd find elsewhere on the Jersey shore. Nonetheless it's a nice beach. Free ample parking and public restrooms.

Cape May is the southern tip of New Jersey. This is also the southern most beach on the Jersey Shore. On the eastern shore of the Cape is the Atlantic Ocean and on the western shore is the mouth of the Delaware River. Weather systems and currents mix off the point. Miles of beaches, a large boardwalk biking, walking, fishing and plenty of restaurants make for a great vacation spot. We came in February to avoid the crowds and see the beach and a dramatic sky. Ice clouds and a bright sun preceded a snowstorm. This made for great photo opportunities. We scurried home on the Parkway before the storm. Snow plows were staging all along the Garden State Parkway that night.

Nice site at Cape May that adds to the charm of this beach area. It was kinda busy, and I didn't want to wait to go up, because I only had so much time. These are awesome places, so definitely plan on going to the top. There is also the remains of a WWII bunker on the nearby beach.

We were so fortunate that we got an opportunity to visit this beautiful place. Loved to see all the planes. They had two planes open for visitors where we could see the inside of the planes. This was the first time I entered a military aircraft. It was indeed an awesome experience!!!!

Took the kids here for a fun day trip. We were not disappointed! It was a fantastic museum with great exhibits, and friendly staff. The majority of the staff members are Air Force and Navy veterans that are very knowledgeable on the aircraft and supporting equipment. You may request for a tour guide at no cost also. We loved this museum and highly recommend you take stop by for a visit. Additionally, there are free to use wheelchairs and motorized mobility scooters. We are planning a future revisit for sure.

This place is great. Recommend a tour from one of the retired guys. The cost is donations only (my kind of price - free)! Inside museum and outdoor airplane graveyard. Several planes that you can go in. Lots of history and one of a kinds. I am not a big Airplane guy, but it was very interesting. I do like history and how things work. I had three teenagers and they also enjoyed it. Visited on a Friday, but don't think it gets too busy any day of the week.

What a great and historical gem. The staff on site are very knowledgeable and nice. The C-5 flies over us everyday and to walk in one you realize how big it really is. I love WW2 history and they have a nice display.....well done! I plan on going back soon as the first time we were there close to closing and I want to really take it all in

Absolutely loved this place. My girlfriend is 20 year retired Air Force herself. So it was cool to go see it with her. Then she was ab to take me on the actual base also. That was awesome to. They have guides that tell you about all the stuff there and they are very knowledgeable. They even have the old flight tower you can go up and hear the chatter from the planes coming and going.

This museum rivals any other aircraft museum in the world. Having visited the Smithsonian Udvar Hazy center earlier this year, that should help understand the gravity of my statement.
The quantity of aircraft not only on display, but also able to enter and explore is astounding. Some of these aircraft can’t be found anywhere else in the world.
The real show stopper is the C-47 that dropped the 101st Airborne on D-Day and Market Garden. Again, not only on display but also available to enter and check out with your own hands. Astounding. The aircraft is complete with battle damage from D-Day as confirmed by the former crew chief when he visited years ago.
I have never felt history like this place. Having just recently watched Band of Brothers also made this exhibit hit hard.
I also have to brag on the staff. The museum was hosting two special events the day we visited which had the small crew of volunteers spread thin. The museum operations manager (Michael) saw that my family wasn’t able to see some areas because of the events and offered to personally take us into the control tower and the C-47…and he did it with a smile.
Being located within an active Air Force base is a huge plus. The chance to see active aircraft flying is very high. We were lucky enough to see a C-17 doing touch and goes right next to the parking lot.
Lastly, the gift shop. They could do like other places and gouge visitors, but they don’t. Everything is very reasonable. Even the snacks/drinks.
Make the drive from DC or Philly to see this museum. You won’t regret it.

Really cool place! You can walk through the airplanes and witness history. You can land a plane on the flight simulator!

My wife and I had a blast looking at everything in this Museum. There was an Air Force veteran hanging out when we got there. He offered to give us a tour. It was great. He spent two hours walking us around and giving us good history lesson on everything in the museum. The tour of the C5 Galaxy is the best part of it.

First timer here. Loved the experience! Free entry, plenty of parking, lovely veteran volunteers. There were three to four planes open for a tour inside. There is a hanger where there are a few exhibits but most of the actual planes are outside.
Ajimon Thomas — Google review
Lots of planes here some rare ones that you don't find in other museums. I suppose it's because they are predominantly cargo planes as that's what's mostly been based at dover. They have some ww2 aircraft inside that are nicely setup. They also have the only C5 available to tour.

Great Veterans running this great Gem to learn from the men that experienced it personally...the kids will absolutely love it and all the planes and gift shop and plenty of parking . Don't forget to take the kids up to the control tower... awesome.. admission is free and no wait or tickets required but tips or donations are appreciated as they work really hard to ensure your family has a great experience. Ask questions as they are very smart and knowledgeable

Highly recommend! This museum is free-of-charge, but is large, well- maintained, and is staffed by retired veteran's. They were knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to board several of the air-crafts. For reference, we are a family of 4 with two teen boys, but saw some littles enjoying themselves, as well. Our boys loved the flight simulator. We have paid to visit far less interesting places and were happy to give a donation.

Spent Father's Day visiting this museum via a Harley Davidson 50 States stop. I was just amazed at how well this museum is laid out and well documented with exhibits, stories, and airplanes you can walk in. Volunteers were amazing. Very relaxing atmosphere with no long lines or loud talking as you view the exhibits. Hall of Honor was very reverent and a must-see and experience. Job well done!

Really cool vintage aircraft on display and incredibly friendly veterans to help guide you through. It’s primarily a cargo plane hub so not many fighter jets on display but you’re able to go in and out of many of the old cargo planes. Air Force Two on display too.

This is a wonderful experience for children and adults as well who love planes. We visited this FREE museum at the Dover AFB on August 13, 2023 where you will find full size Military Aircrafts including the Air Force One Plane and so many others. Wonderful Veterans give you a full tour in detail. We were able to go inside of many if the planes at the museum but visit early in the summer as it gets hot fast inside. They even have a control tower you can climb and view. The gift shop had some neat artifacts for purchase as well. Highly, highly reccommended.
Funland on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk is a great place to go with your family, as they have many rides that will excite everyone. While it can get crowded in there, it's worth it to try some of their classic games as well.
This little amusement park/games center is a slice of history, a family-owned business, and a fun place to take kids for an afternoon. The rides are mainly geared towards kids up to and including highschoolers, but a few of the rides could be enjoyed by adults as well. You pay for rides by buying sheets or books of tickets in advance, then pay before you get on the rides. Bigger rides cost more tickets. There are pay-as-you-go games for prizes, and coin-operated games that eject tickets which you exchange for prizes. Skee-Ball, too. Great way to spend an afternoon near the Reheboth Beach boardwalk for young and old alike.

I always enjoyed coming here as a kid. I now love being able to bring my son to enjoy those same rides and continue on a family tradition. Always a blast of fun at a reasonable price. We will be back again soon.

Nice place (Rehaboth beach)after Ocean city. This is a definite visit place especially if you like beaches and sand. The board walk is nice and you have many shops and eateries. There are fun games for children. Parents can accompany children in few games. Carry your shade umbrella and chairs. If not you will have to take for rent.parking at Rehaboth beach is just $2 per hour and you can pay anywhere and it's based on the vehicle number.

Fun location for younger kids! Must check out but expect your kid to want to win something.
This place is a lot of fun especially for the kids. They have a lot of Old school/retro kids games and rides. A lot of the rides are more geared towards kids younger than 5 and they do have a maximum height restriction. They also have many different games. Some games are simple and some are tough. All fun though.
Great place to go on a rainy day as that is when we went and glad we got to check it out. The kids were happy with their prize.
Overall, it is worth checking out if you have younger kids. A lot of fun for them, but expect to spend a little bit a couple dollars here and there to play or ride rides.

Funland is a classic seaside amusement park. Full of rides for kids and families, along with midway games for all ages. Haunted Mansion is one of the most exciting rides at Funland! Love all the classic stunts on this suspended dark ride. Wish they would add a rollercoaster, as the entire state of Delaware is missing one.

We had so much fun here over the summer with the kids! Fun games, friendly staff, and some awesome rides for a decent price. We really enjoyed the bumper cars and the Super Flip 360! We’ll definitely be back again next summer.

I love these rides. So much fun. We would ride the one in OCMD yearly until now. Equally fun but different. Cannot go wrong at either.
Not gripes but the line is long. Cars are not that big. Cramped for 2 adults and a 7 yr old. Bummer that next year we'll be splitting up cars.
It was a Wednesday night and packed up to closing.

It was fun with a lot of rides , tickets were cheaper than other boardwalks they were right next to the boardwalk, I bought 25 tickets for $15 . My kids loved the speed of the bumper cars and the swinging boat!!

Super fun place for families! There was something for everyone. My kids had an amazing time! It can get very busy but that's expected during the summer months.
Great relax spot. Nice town with small boardwalk and cute shops, etc. The inadequate parking is a pain! Be careful so your car doesn't get towed from a side street. Wide variety of food from Five Guys to Subway to pricier restaurants. Public restrooms are clean, no changing in there though. Love the food at Casa DiLeo - on Rehoboth Ave., but much closer to Coastal.Hwy.

Rehoboth Beach is one of many beaches along Delaware's coast on the Atlantic Ocean. All beaches often rank high in water quality. A few things to note about Rehoboth Beach after visiting during the off-season during the winter:
1) Beach: It's a long beach kept clean. During the off season, locals can be seen walking along the beach for hours or working out along the beach and on the wooden planks that dip into the water. The waves are beautiful.
2) Boardwalk: It's an almost 150-year-old boardwalk with all the things during the main season from arcades to doughnuts to ice cream. When we went during the winter, most shops were closed.
3) Access: There are many entry points along the boardwalk, making it easy to come and go from the beach.
Austin Graff — Google review
A great beach, but the waves can and will take you down if you're not vigilant. It's also an exceptionally clean beach since glass bottles and smoking were banned on the beach and most parts of the boardwalk. Just keep in mind that the beach officially closes at one in the morning, and camping is not allowed on the beach. However, there are plenty of campgrounds within 5-10 miles of Rehoboth.

I went to Rehoboth Beach last year with my mom. It was okay, not the best beach I’ve been to. It was definitely overcrowded and overrated in my opinion. However, I am a person who likes some peace and quiet… so if you’re a big people person, this may be an attractive spot. I definitely recommend going to the Playa Bowls after your beach day… or if you like sweet treats… I would recommend Rita’s Gelato.

Best free beach. Family friendly, [You got that homey feeling] here. Located east of the Atlantic ocean, great place to people watch, sit back and relax, laugh and eat, yes, many food choices and if you like sweets, check out the candy kitchen, and free concerts.... A high desire spot for tourist as well as the locals. It was so crowded people were so friendly, what a great experience.

We were here during offseason around Christmas. The beach was deserted. It was very calm, peaceful and clean. All we could hear was the crashing of the waves and some birds. There were hardly any shops opened in the Boardwalk, but there were few gift shops/restaurants opened just outside the beach in the Rehoboth avenue. Parking wasn't a problem in December and it was free. Absolutely loved it during off season and it was very relaxing. Wanted to wade in the waters barefoot, despite it being a winter. It was so cold that it gave me Brain freeze. Lol. It was a great experience though.

The trip is very nice and scenic, and the boardwalk is incredibly fun, and there is a lot to do. I recommend the daily parking if you are coming in by car and are going to spend more than 6 hours at the beach or at the boardwalk it is more affordable that way. There is quite a bit of walking, so bring comfortable shoes if you want to walk around and look at everything rehoboth has to offer.

I have been waiting to visit for years. Finally got the chance to go in Aug 2022. Did the off centered brewery tour. They take you through the entire brewery and give you plenty of samples. You pay $20 and some change but you definitely make your money back in beer samples. Great tour. My only criticism was the tour email messaging. They tell you to arrive at 1130 but the doors don't open till 12 so you sit out in the patio waiting for nothing. Need to fix their automated emails.

This brewery is excellent! From the delicious beer, to the incredible food, to the tour, Dogfish Head Brewery is a must visit. We got a flight to start, and all the beers we tried were delightful. The Namaste was especially good. Next, we went on a tour, and it was a great time and a good value! We got to see the brewery and received a sample - the whole thing took about half an hour. After that, we got some food, and it was delicious. The pretzel was SO GOOD that we got another one. I highly recommend going here!

Great brewery and distillery. Had the distillery tour here. Very informative, and the tour guide was very patient with us answering all our questions. Enjoyed the tour, the tasting pours, the exclusive spirits you get only on such tours, etc. Would love to be able to buy them off a shelf, too.
Food is limited here - after having the best drinks ever, I would have preferred some interesting bites, too.
Due to the timing, I was able to listen to some nice live music which was nice.
From what I learned, I will be visiting their and their sister breweries' other locations for their exclusive pours.

Phenomenal service! Great ambiance! (Check out the pictures on the ceiling!) I have to shout out Carmen for being the best tour guide of the brewery, a great bartender, and telling great jokes for my brother’s bachelor party weekend! You made his day! Great place to visit. There is a free tour you can sign up for. The tour guide is very professional and kind (1pm Dec 18th 2022). After the tour, each person gets a free flight of 4 samples. Great brewery. Loved the atmosphere. Staff is super friendly, I loved that they try to recommend the best drinking order for your flights. You absolutely have to check out the R&D beers on tap, lots of cool new interesting brews that you can’t get anywhere else!
Definitely recommend the “Off-Centered Tour.” $20 gets you 4 samples throughout the tour + a sample glass + a flight afterwards. The tour itself is well done, very informative of not only the brewing process at Dogfish Head but also its history— which was super interesting! My only small critique is that the tour felt very scripted. We’ve been on other big name brewery tours that were a bit more interactive/personal than this one.

What a great place to drink some super fresh beer! If you can find it. Decent food options too, like; pizza, wursts, etc. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Weird metal treehouse structure looming over it all. They have a really good selection of experimental beers. With wacky flavors. Great dogfishhead gift shop too. For anyone that wants a T-shirt or hockey jersey with their cool logo in it.

What an incredible space! It's like it's own town really. This place is massive, it's truly something to see. We came on a Friday, around noon-ish. It was pretty well packed with people. The tasting room is pretty big with lots of tables. There are lots of tables and games outside too but it was rainy the day we went. The beer choices are out of this world. For someone like me in NY, there were options I have never seen and sadly will not see again unless we come back to visit. They also have a distillery around the corner of the brewery building (but if you're in the brewery you can still do tastings/drinks). They offer flights of beer or spirits - they also offer actual cocktails with their spirits. Really impressive. There was not one thing we tried that we did not like. They are VERY dog friendly which is so nice. They instantly offered us water for the dogs and most employees came over to greet the dogs. There is a food stand on the outside of the brewery with pizza options, sandwiches, chips & salsa, pretzels, etc. There is also a pretty large retail store inside which we definitely spent some time in. Beer to go, spirits to go, homemade dog treats & other dog accessories, clothing, etc. We spent quite a bit of time here and really enjoyed ourselves. Would recommend to anyone going to this area & we will definitely be back again!

OUTSTANDING! What a great atmosphere. It has a very friendly vibe. The employees, the patrons and the Dogs make you feel like you are family and want to spend time with you. Yes it is dog friendly with inside and outside tables. If you have never been there before then start with a beer tasting. They have flights of four beers. There are usually a listing of over 20 varieties. Once you find one that you like, which is harder than it sounds, order a glass. Then head over to the food window to order Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese sauce or crab soups which is amazing. They have a lot of other offerings on the menu including Pizza or Subs of the day, etc. All of the food is great. Before you leave be sure to leave time for the brewery tour. Then don't forget to take home cans of beer and/or spirits from the gift shop. Better yet bring your own Growler and fill it with one of the specialty beers, like the Utopia Barrel 120 minute IPA, (17% abv). Overall you will have a great time there amd will want to keep going back.

Highly recommend not only visiting but getting a tour! The food was delicious too! Loved their pizzas and the Bavarian pretzel.

Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton is an absolute must visit, whether you’re new to DE or you live here, it’s one of the cooler places in Delaware and truly defines the craft beer scene. Dogfish with the combination of Boston Brewing is the largest Independent craft brewer as well.
We came on a rainy Sunday afternoon to grab a few brews and try their spirits.
Everything we tried was delicious. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, guided us through the selection and were attentive and made we sure we never had an empty glass.
The beer selection is obviously the focus but they’ve put a lot of time into developing a great spirit selection as well. Using local ingredients and partnering with other local small businesses which I think speaks volumes about what Sam and Mariah have created with their team. No matter how big Dogfish has become they’ve stayed true to staying local and supporting local.
The parking is very big so plenty of room. They also have several different tours starting at $5 for the basic tour lasting about 25 min to the longer more immersive tour that lasts about an hour. They also have a distillery tour if you want to see how the spirits are made.
The tour will also take you into their Steampunk Tree House which is super cool and has an awesome history.
There’s also a huge gift shop that offers all kinds of apparel, swag and merch.
If you’re feeling hungry they have a small menu that has rotating soup, charcuterie board, pulled pork, pizza and a Bavarian pretzel among other snack options.
Great experience rain or shine.

We are always looking forward to try the exclusive beers on tap that you can only get them at this location! The crew members are always so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable!
We highly recommended getting the beer crowlers, as they really know how to fill and seal them well! Our crowlers still taste great after a couple weeks, which did not happen for some crowlers we got from other microbrews.
The indoor dining area has plenty of tables but it will also get packed sometimes. Outdoor area is super cozy (when the weather is nice)!
Looking forward to our next visit already!

The tasting room and kitchen at Dogfish Head Brewery is amazing. The weather was nice so we were able to enjoy our beers and food in the outdoor seating area. I had a couple of different hazy style beers and my girlfriend had a Japanese style rice beer. We shared a pizza of the day (bacon jalapenos and cream cheese) some chips and salsa and a soup of the day (beef stew). All the food was excellent, restaurant quality. The prices on everything were very reasonable. We had all that food and 4 beers for $50. My only regret is that we didn't have time to do the brewery tour, we'll have to hit that next time.

It was early, so they definitely should have been open. I was waiting for someone and grabbed drinks at the paid bar.
An entertainment coordinator can have this place live, plus some local advertising.
The person who was gambling never got any free drinks, as no one passed by to order from. Please do better with the free drinks for paying customers. Perhaps install order options at each game, the same as they do in AC.

I always enjoy myself when I go there whether I come out ahead or not. I just wanted to let someone know you need to correct your hours of operation on here and your site. It says your hours on Sunday are 8AM-4AM when technically you are open 24 hours on Sunday (12:00AM-11:59PM), and you close at 4AM on Monday morning and reopen at 8AM. This is coming from someone who works nights. If you check this site after 12AM on Sunday morning, it says you are closed and open at 8AM. You all could be missing out on potential customers, and I'm sure you don't want that. Lol.

We have visited the casino plenty of times over the last 24 years and they have changed with the times. This casino use to be fun to visit. 20 years ago they offered entertainment that made your visit a full package experience. Dinner, dancing, different specials that brought you out during the week and, of course, the casino. Fast forward 20ish years later, I find that I only go because my husband wants to play. They are only about making money, which is understandable, they are a business. They way the casino is today I don't ever have to go back.

All in all, it was a super nice getaway for a day.

Gorgeous park. It’s well-kept, there are some beautiful views especially at the pier, the playground has all sorts of fun little rides on it, there’s even a shaded exercise area with a fence so kids below 10 can’t enter. There are informative posts about animals and plants the further you get into its more natural areas. I clearly didn’t take enough pictures but honestly there’s enough to do that I’m sure most people couldn’t.

Beautiful array of different views. Saw Jellyfish and some other wildlife. Great place to just walk around, throw some disc's and enjoy.

Went to the Winter lights Festival. The best $6 I ever spent. Really like what they did and the hot coco was the perfect touch.

We were in Ocean City in the off season and happened upon the Winterfest lights in Northside Park. The park is big and the light displays were beautiful. Walked around for an hour plus just checking everything out. Loved the "12 days of Christmas" themed displays.
They offer a hot chocolate stand on the grounds but mostly just people milling around looking at the lights. There is a parking lot right next to it and we didn't have trouble finding a spot, but they were set up for much larger crowds than we saw on our trip. I would guess the closer to Christmas you get, the more crowded it will be. So, be prepared.

Such a great park! I had only ever been for Winterfest of Lights and had no idea how massive and well equipped the playground was. We will certainly return in the future. My children had a blast!

Beautiful park on the bay (125th St.). Tremendous Christmas light diplay..the best I've seen in 60 years. Multiple ball fields. Walk the 100 yard dock out over the bay. Gorgeous sunsets.

This was near our hotel and with 6 kids in tow we stopped in to check it out. The park was fun for all ages from 2-12. Kids loved fishing and crabbing in the lake. The have a couple small piers which we were lucky enough to get. The kids learned to "crab" by watching a gentleman that was there before we arrived. He gave the kids a piece of string with chicken tied to the end. That was all that was needed for hours of entertainment for the kids, and the parents were happy to relax for a bit.

Northside Park was a nice park to visit for a change of pace from the beach and boardwalk. Plenty of benches throughout. Small dock for fishing the pond. Pavilion shaded with picnic tables by playground. Nice baseball fields. A dog friendly walking trail with doggie stations. Nice safe and decent size playground with good play structures. Restroom facilities attached to the concession stand as well as attached to the field house/concession stand for soccer fields by the wetlands walkway and a port-o-potty by the playground. Plenty of parking all around the walking trail to access the park. Some stationary workout equipment. A flag memorial. Kayak rentals available. Wide open fileds with grassy areas. Soda vending machines, water fountains, a concession stand for in-season baseball/softball games. Nice views throughout the park and definitely put on the Wetlands Pier. Best of all, it's absolutely something free to do!

This park is great for kids, adults, couples... there is a play ground, and outdoor gym area and walking jogging paths that lead to the water. In the winter time they set up for Christmas! Truly magical then!
The beach in Ocean City MD is the most popular spot in the city for swimming, sunbathing, and surfing. The sand is soft and warm, the weather is sunny and pleasant year-round, and there are plenty of attractions nearby for family fun.
We love Ocean City MD beaches, we go every year! The water is always so beautiful and the shops, restaurants and boardwalk are a blast! We love coming for summer vacation and wouldn’t trade it for the world!

We lived in Florida for four years, and I’ve never heard waves literally crashing on the sand. It was amazing, but a little overwhelming for my small kids.
The sand was nice enough (an unfair comparison to FL), but there were so many tiny flies. It was also nice that it wasn’t crowded and you could have your own section of the beach (we went around 10:00 am).
Easy walk from our Air BnB, but worth it even if it’s dead of summer, but make sure you bring your beach umbrella.

I like Ocean City Beach. It's very long. If not mistaken, it's 10 miles long. The sand area is really big, wide so it accommodates lots of people.
Very busy boardwalk stretches form the south side for 3 miles. Many people are jogging or bike riding in the mornings.
The boardwalk is clean, and they offer lots thing to do here. There are so many food shops, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
Some hotels have pools on the boardwalk if you don't feel like walking on hot sand.
The beach is free. Live guards are on duty during the season.
Nice place for relaxing vacation

It's my all-time favorite beach! There are so many things to do there. The boardwalk is clean and beautiful. The hotels around are kept up for the most part . There are miles of activity for everyone. Lots of food options hotels with beach views or bay view . They have very high-quality, high-priced places or middle of the road quality places . Your opinions are endless. The beach itself is very clean . I highly recommend a stay at Ocean City

Super clear beaches and so many fun things to do. The boardwalk is well kept and there are lots of options for food and drink. The whole area is easy accessible with multiple means of transportation. There are plenty of ride sharing companies, taxi companies and a bus that shuttles throughout the city. There are plenty of shopping and restaurants in walking distance of hotels. Was recently there for Bike Week. It was crowded as expected but everything was pretty organized. There were lots of signage posted to help traffic flow. The Convention center is also central located and easily accessible.

Wide beaches, carefully manicured and maintained by local officials. Newly replaced boardwalk Tall buildings stretching along its coast and most favorable notice, and speaking for most of the state of Maryland's is it's clean streets. This makes an impression that reflects a cities memorable image.
Jolly Roger Amusement Park offers a variety of rides, games and mini golf courses. It is one amusement park that has many different activities to keep visitors entertained for hours on end.
Took the kids here to play mini golf one afternoon and had a good time. We ended up staying to check out the amusement park. We initially thought it was closed because it was pretty vacant and we didn't see the rides being operated. But they were open and they operated the rides as long as you had a ticket.
We ended up coming back later in the week around 8p and there were a lot more people and we had a lot more fun. After 7p you can purchase a bracelet for unlimited rides. This is a much more cost effective option. The operators and staff were all very friendly. This is a great spot to take the kids in the evening after a day at the beach. My kids really enjoyed it as well as the shows and the lady with the bunny rabbit. There was a water park that we didn't get a chance to visit, but we will next time. Also, be sure to bring cash because from what I could tell the food vendors only accept cash.

The whale guy should get a raise!!! He was so wonderful with all the kids. He truly seemed to love his job or at least wanted to pass the time. Either way he was great, I can’t say enough great things about him. My son LOVED him and asked everyday to go back just to ride the whales. He was truly a gem. He needs a parking spot!!
We also loved circus smile, that was a lot of fun and different. Really really enjoyed it. The rides do need an upgrade and get some umbrellas for the ride operators. The sun was crushing them!!! They were great all around and deserve that much! Thanks for a great time

My kids and I had an incredible experience at this park. We rode the barracuda, the flying dutchman, and the wildcat repeatedly. The entire crew was incredible - but Preston and Trea (along with the sweet woman with glasses whose name I didn’t catch at the Wildcat) — wete absolute standouts who made out day extra special. We were super impressed with the circus and even made some friends while we were there. We would absolutely go back.

We go here every year between the early bird special and the later night hours. I believe 5pm-7pm. The price is a little more because there are no deals, but you can still buy a wristband, and it's like the WHOLE PARK is yours. No waits, no lines just pure fun for the kid.

Jolly Roger Amusement Park in Ocean City Maryland. The park is located off the boardwalk from the beach. This park has over 15 amusement park rides (Not including the Jolly Roger park from the boardwalk) and a water park. Prices can range from $10.00-$80.00 depending on if you are buying individual tickets for the rides or a wristband for all the rides. They do I have combo passes for the water park and Speedworld together. They also have a Go-Kart place called Speedworld. Many go-karts tracks and a new zipline is at Speedworld which is right next door. This location is on 30th street in ocean city Maryland.
We did not do the water park or Speedworld. This is just for the amusement park on 30th street.
As soon you drive up to the park. You see a bunch of rides and mini golf courses with go-karts and a water park. There is so much to do. There is parking in front and more towards the back. The parking lot is only one way so you shouldn’t have a problem following the signs to the back if you can’t park in the front. Parking is free for guest. As you walk towards the park, you see a big entrance with pirate theme. You have customer service building and a some ticket booths. You go up to the ticket booth and get your tickets or wristbands. You walk to the left and you see many rides, carnival games and food places. There is a couple more rides in the back which is the Ferris Wheel and the roller coasters. They have three roller coasters. Wacky Worm, The Barracuda, and WildCat. Wacky Worm is more for kids and the other two roller coasters is more for adults/family. We only rode the wildcat coaster and Barracude. Which is all the way in the back of the park. The wildcat stands pretty tall and can be seen through the whole park. It’s a ok park but not the best.
The park was clean and didn’t even seem a piece of trash on the floor. The bathrooms was cleaned during our visit. They do make sure that the park is clean and nice for their guests. We do go on a weekday which wasn’t really too busy.
We did try the food. We got the bacon hotdog. It was ok, nothing really to special. To me, it was more like something you would make at home but it was still good.
The staff was so nice and friendly. They even had a smile on their face. They welcoming guest to Jolly Roger park and that is amazing to see. I do feel like the ride operators should be more engaging though. They are the key and butter of the park. They didn’t seem like it but hey, That’s just the atmosphere of the rides apartment.
To me, the park seem more like a kids/family park. There isn’t enough thrill rides for thrill seekers or adults. They have wildcat and Barracude but those seem more like family coasters as well. I just feel like the park need more thrill rides. I understand that they are kinda old school park and landlocked but it just didn’t seem fun to me like other parks or like Trimper park which is only a couple streets down from Jolly Roger Park. They have more modern and more thrilling rides for the whole family and have more of a selection for everyone and not just a family selection. I would recommend adding more rides if they can to help more options for the whole family to play and enjoy the park even more. It just feels more like the park is there and not invested into like other parks but that’s just my opinion.
Do we recommend Jolly Roger Amusement Park on 30th street. Yes and no if that make sense. Yes because if you have a family and kids ages between 3-12 then yes because kids would love this park as there is many things to do for them but anyone older than that I wouldn’t recommend. Definitely if you are a couple like we was. It just kinda was boring and we didn’t feel the excitement like you would in any other amusement park that you should during your visit. We recommend for older crowds to go to Trimper park down the road or even the boardwalk Jolly Roger Park, since there is more thrilling rides than this one on the 30th street. We also going on a weekend if you do decide to go because weekends are probably busier.
Overall 3.9/5

Been coming here since the early 1990's. Great amusement park for the family. Over the years this place has grown a lot. They have two different miniature golf courses. They also have go-kart tracks, water slides, carnival style rides and more. The property is well kept and maintained. It is located right on the main road, down near 33rd and 32nd street.

I brought my daughter and son here twice a week this month (July 2022) and each time my kids had an amazing time. They loved the Whale Guy on the whale ride and KT on the Barracuda ride!! Those guys are truly special and are keepers. All those who come here are families and all you hear is laughter from kids and adults having a blast! Jolly Roger is truly a gem. I cannot wait to have my daughter work for you next summer. She is excited!
The lively boardwalk situated near the beach is filled with various amenities such as restaurants, hotels, souvenir shops and other entertainment options. Visitors can enjoy the bustling atmosphere while taking a stroll along the vibrant promenade. The boardwalk offers an array of activities that cater to people of all ages and interests. It provides a perfect blend of dining, shopping and recreational opportunities that make it an ideal destination for tourists and locals alike.

Bayside Drive-in Campground
Campground
Nature & Parks
Campground in Assateague Island National Seashore featuring tent & RV sites with ground fire grills.
Stayed in bayside, loop A. Sites were very large and level with plenty of room in between each one, which gave lots of privacy. I could only see one other camper from my site. Amazing place to bird watch as it is a major passover for migratory species in the fall. Also tons of migrating monarch butterflies in October! Can be hard to get in as the sites book up as soon as they are available. I much prefer late fall off season (less kids and noise, less bugs, cooler temps). Highly recommend if you are into camping for the nature. Also a quick drive to OC boardwalk and restaurants if you want to go out for a nice meal.

I love this park. I come here at least twice a year. This time I was RV camping on the Bayside. Late in the season, so it was quiet and full of wildlife. Enjoyed biking and kayaking.
Robert Wozniak — Google review
First of all may i say, that generators are ruining the wildlife experience. You go to the shore, partly to hear the birds, and all I hear is the roar of generators from 6 AM to 10 PM at night - why do these people go camping?
Pit toilets, showers that are a little frightening to look at, but they function and are cleaned daily . I should specify this is at the Bayside campsites. Today I looked at the Oceanside, and they have very nice toilets and shower brand new it looks like.
Lots of space between the sites that doesn’t help the generator noise.
Some of the sites look out over the bay others do not. Some of them are quite large.
In general, I wish the national park service would do away with this generous allotment of time for people to run those machines. Thank you for listening to me vent!
I enjoy the ponies. I have to leave my campsite to hear the birds. There’s plenty of space to walk your dog and you can take your dog on the beach on a leash. There are certain areas for this.

There are two parks side by side, one is national and other one is state. We booked the national one not being aware that there are two parks. Bathrooms are mobile toilets style and they were horrible. We couldnt spend a minute in them and luckily we found a spot in the state park. The bathrooms in the state park were amazing and we moved to that. So be aware of that. Also the entrance to the national park was 30$ for camp ground and 25$ per each car whereas it was just 35$ in state park and no additional charge for car.
Sai Teja Chava — Google review
The sites are on the smaller side and our view was obstructed by other RVs, but the fellow campers were decent, camp hosts were friendly, and accommodations were pleasant. Horses freely walk through the campgrounds.
Abigail Duman — Google review
Great place! One criticism is incessant running of generators of those massive RVs. Should not be allowed in my view in such a place.
Tim Roebuck — Google review
Beautiful location. It's so peaceful, too. Ocean one side, Bayside on the other. The horses are definitely the main attraction, but you also see a lot of horseshoe crabs, many bird species, etc. The bathrooms don't have electricity, but they kept them very well maintained and clean. The shower is only cold water. Mosquitos can be very awful. The weather is temperamental. Some staff are not as friendly as others. They all do a good job at keeping the place beautiful. There's short trails that are worth seeing, too. I would 100% come back to this place. You can also go crab fishing, biking, kayaking, and much more. The sunsets are beautiful, etc. This place is not far from Ocean City, too. I absolutely love this place.

We have camped here few times. Absolutely beautiful place for camping. Beaches are quite and not many people around.
Booking needs to be done way in advance if you want bach campsite.
Showers are clean but toilets are vault toilets but still clean.
Mosquitos are in abundance so have to be prepared for that.
Also, wild horses roam freely sometimes coming to campsite.

Thoroughly enjoyed this campground (with some caveats). While beachside may have been nice, bayside isn't too far (walk or drive). Bayside is convenient for kayak use. It was wee-bit warm at night for sleeping, so given no hookupa, a quiet genset came in handy. You call fill fresh water there at bayside dumpsite (though only one station). We did have ponies passing through and at night grazing just outside trailer. The restrooms are minimalistic, with no running water, except for cold in the shower (which was welcomed given the days heat). In short, yes... would do again. Would be more selective on site # having seen the layout.
Jerry Hankins — Google review
Fantastic campground. The site really felt like it was private even in loop C where generators are allowed. We had horses walking through camp the whole stay and they were fantastic to watch. There was a bit of trash left by the previous site tenants but we were able to pick it up pretty quick. A great place with easy access to the bay and the ocean.
Peter Lavallee — Google review
Wow, what a beautiful area. The campgrounds are very nice. Oceanside CG is the preferred over Bayside. Oceanside has easy access to the beach and is nice and breezy. Both have cold showers only which feels great on a warm day. You will definitely see plenty of wild horses which is a bonus.
Anna — Google review
The campsite we had was alright, the grass was high in places, the bugs were terrible and the bath house was terrible. The horses were cool, they didn’t give us any problems but the raccoons did. We still enjoyed our trip and made the best of it, but probably won’t stay in that area again without an RV or camper.

Animals from the Americas are housed in naturalistic habitats at this park with free admission.
I'm from out of town and I was just passing through looking for a trail to walk they had a nice Trail that had good scenery I took some great pictures in the trail also lead right into the zoo park that was free and the zoo was really nice. They had various animals and the animals were out and about. They do have a gift shop, restrooms, places for you to sit in the shade. Definitely good for kids to have fun learn about animals and there's even a playground at the entrance for the kids to play to get tired. There's also a big Park across from the zoo where you can have cookouts you can have a blanket layout just enjoy the breeze, the peace, family and friends and just the joy of nature.
Jay Wilson — Google review
Adorable, small zoo. Free to get in, nicely paved walking paths. A lot of the birds were not out during our trip due to the bird flu. They said they would be back out once the threat passed. They also had some blockades on a few of the exhibits as they have come to know that certain animals are more susceptible to Covid than others. So they wanted patrons to stay back further. This was totally understandable. Worth checking out if you enjoy animals or have children. The playground on the zoo grounds was a HIT. It’s big and very unique. Loved that it was designed by kids for kids.
Jessica H — Google review
Similar to other zoos, many animals are nocturnal and so are not visible or active. Others are just not interested in us. It's not a criticism of this zoo, just an observation. The animals seem well taken care of, and the grounds are clean. Great free experience, especially for those who can not afford to travel to see one of the "big" zoos.
Lisa McMahon — Google review
Although there aren't many animals to look at I still think this park is worth the trip! It's great for smaller kids that can't walk for too long. They have an awesome playground the kids can run around and play after looking at the animals and there are plenty of spots to sit and each lunch. Make sure you pack food and drinks, they have a small gift shop but it wasn't open when we went. I'm not sure if that's a normal occurrence but better to be prepared.

Many exhibits were closed when we visited, but we all still enjoyed it. I was surprised by the size, honestly. Very nice free zoo. A few exhibits were closed but overall it was a great experience. Easy to get to and parking was available on a Saturday afternoon. Would recommend for younger children as it's not long distances to walk and most of the animals are fairly close up so easy to spot them.

This is an awesome FREE ADMISSION ZOO with what I thought I had really good parking. Had lots of fun here with some family, and I really enjoyed my time there! There was a bunch of enclosures, and each one had a sign to teach you about the animal that was there. It was also very handicapped friendly as there were plenty of paths and ramps in places there were stairs, although it was a bit bumpy in some places. I'd make quite a consideration to stop here, seeing as it's free and has a bunch to learn. Staff were friendly and did what was required to keep you and the animals safe. There was also a nice little gift shop with some pretty nice things that I'd recommend stopping at if you like buying something to remember your journey.

Very friendly zoo with a small, but still good, selection of animals to view and enjoy with your family. The park offers a small "beastro" with snacks, drinks and small meals. The enclosures are well kept and clean. The park itself is also well very maintained. I've been visiting this zoo since I was a child and am happy to see new attractions coming! The park isn't full of hills and is very easily accessible to anyone. Definitely a wonderful park for small children. There is no cost to enter, but please provide a donation at the gate!

We were delighted to explore this zoo on a trip through Maryland. The park is well maintained, sustainably landscaped and free to visit. Donations are accepted at the entrance. The animals were actively exploring their environments, even on a sunny summer day. We appreciated the interpretive signage around the park to learn more about the animals. The alpacas, emus and bears were our favorites. There is free parking at the zoo and full restrooms. They are constructing some new habitats. We look forward to visiting again.

The Salisbury zoo is quaint little zoo, but also quite nice. It's a good place to spend an afternoon and it's free. They also have a playground where my child and others had a blast. I believe the Salisbury zoo deserves a four star rating because it does deliver for what it is.

I have lived in Salisbury most of my life, visiting the Zoo many times over the years. I just went this morning and WOW! They have really done some great work at renovations and new additions! If you have not ever been, or if it's been a few years, I strongly encourage you to check out the Salisbury Zoo.
Assateague Island National Seashore, a vast natural sand barrier, is renowned for its untamed horses and outdoor recreational activities. The park boasts various captivating features such as marshes, forests, dunes and a picturesque seashore that would be appreciated even without the presence of the famous equines. During off-seasons, visitors can enjoy the serene beach with minimal crowds. Nevertheless, it's impossible to mention this park without acknowledging the wild horses that wander freely around it.
All sorts of cool natural beauty here. Even without the famous horses I would still have a blast exploring this area. Every trail I walked on had something new to offer, whether it was marshes, forests, or dunes. The seashore itself is picturesque and really cool to be at, and because it was the off season when I visited, almost no one else was at the beach. But I can't talk about this place without mentioning the horses. They were so cool to see and knowing they were wild horses wandering about. I saw about 20 of them in my visit here, and it was just an awesome experience watching them walk around and stuff. If you're ever in the area I'd definitely recommend you give this park a try.

I would recommend to get to the beach early or not on a holiday weekend because my boyfriend and I were waiting like an hour and 15 minutes just to make it to pay the fee to access the island. Camping- lock your food up because the wild horses will come to your campsite if you don’t. It happened to your campsite neighbors. No one was hurt but still causes some anxiety. Loved the bathroom for camping for obvious reasons. Great place to explore and camp. I would recommend experiencing this place yourself!

It was over 30 years since I had been there and I still love it! I got to share this experience with my son and he absolutely loved it too. We saw some wild ponies and a lot of wild life. Can't wait to go up again!!
These photos were taken at the Assateague National Seashore past the light house but before the Tom's Cove Visitor center and right after the visitor's center

Wonderful national seashore. Very kind, informative man at the visor center, thank you Peter. Spent the day there, visited the lighthouse, went around black duck Marsh and saw lots of ponies along the way and at the overlook out in the fields. Lots of other gorgeous wildlife, esp birds and waterfowl. The beach itself was so beautiful. Great day, can't wait to go back. Thinking of camping for a night or two next time. I believe with the proper planning and timing (off-peak when people aren't accidentally luring herds of ponies in to ravage the sites lol) it'd be amazing on the beach.

We had an amazing experience while visiting Assateague Island for the day during our vacation to Ocean City. We saw more than ten wild ponies over a few couple visits. The beach and the dunes are absolutely breathtaking. We plan to vacation nearby again from May-October when the weather is a little warmer so that we can kayak on the island and go horse trail riding at one of the nearby horse farms.

My family and I had a great day exploring this National Park. We were able to see wild horses, deer, and even bald eagles. It was very relaxing and beautiful everywhere we went. We will definitely be coming back.

I adore Assateague island. I've been visiting this place since I was knee high to a grasshopper and will continue to visit this place in the future. this visit is with my wife and kids and couldn't be happier with the experience they are having so far. We spent a ton of time on the beach and we're able to find shells, sand crabs, and even horseshoe crab shells. There is limited parking which means there is limited number of folks on the beach. Not super busy even for August. We saw ponies and tons of birds which was a delight. the park requires a pass which is 10 dollars per day or 45 for the year. will absolutely return often.

Amazing camping experience. If you could, get the campsite #78 at the Assateague island national seashore (ocean side)... just get it.
It is very private but please DO NOT forget to take mosquito repellent as they could just kill you at this campsite. We didn't find as many mosquitoes near other campsites around us. This has been the most pleasant camping experience with the beach steps away, private and very well maintained.

Beautiful state Park with lots of wild horses roaming around. Rented a couple of kayaks and paddled around the marshes. Hiked three different trails and the environments between the trails were very different, so beautiful to see so much in one park. Hiked through the marshes, the woods, and the dunes trail. The horses walked right up to our car but I definitely recommend keeping your distance on foot. Lots of bicycle rentals and fishing as well. Do plan on arriving early though, took an hour of waiting in line to get through the entrance! Definitely want to come back to try some beach front camping with the horses 🐎 ⛺

One of the most beautiful places I’ve been out of all the 13 countries I have traveled to! The horses are very chill and you get very close without spooking them. The beaches them selfs are soooo clean and the sand is almost pink at times . Definitely a place for all ages of family to enjoy 💜
They have hiking trails that are friendly for people who have trouble walking so that is a big plus! They also have multiple areas to camp. This beach allows you to bring your own horse to ride on the beach as well!

April was the perfect time to visit! Check out the visitor center on your way in to learn a bit of the history and then head over the bridge. We saw a couple horses up close by the road, but most were farther off along the shore. I'll bring binoculars next time!
Loved the Bayside, was calm and peaceful and we walked a couple miles along the shore, finding crabs and a baby terrapin.
Ocean side was much colder and winder and covered with horseshoe crab carcasses (which were pretty cool).
Think next time I will camp there, it was a bit crowded for my taste.

Absolutely gorgeous place. Beautiful beach. Saw the horses. Just fun to see them in the wild. Could have seen them without paying the park admission as one greeted us at the end of the bridge - but love supporting our national parks

If you love horses, beaches and nature, this is the perfect camping spot. Yes, there are mosquitoes so take the proper precautions but Assateague Island is a breathe of fresh air. As a single mom with a young child, this was a perfect weekend camping getaway. It is easy to bike with a trailer, tons of nature to see and explore, lovely beaches for sea shell collecting and building Sandcastles and lots of opportunities to go barefoot and explore. Also, the horses are everything. My daughter rides horses and it was important for her to see horses as they exist wild and free. Be sure to stay 40 feet away and use precautions similar to those in bear country with food.

Assateague National Seashore is part of the American National Parks. It's almost a world on its own. We went on a summer weekday (Thursday, Aug 24) as well as Saturday on Labor Day weekend. I would recommend the former, if you're looking for peace and quiet or want to fish. Beachgoers at the seashore don't care about giving fishermen any space and kept walking into the lines. We went to the area right before the OSV section on both days, so really there were miles of open beach, and we were close to others who were fishing. On Saturday, the line to get into the park was less than a mile, but it took over 30 minutes to drive. Much quicker, and more parking available on weekdays. Cost is $25/vehicle for a 7 day pass (no 1 day), $45 for an annual pass, and free for walk/bike in. There's no food available in that area, so come prepared with food, shade, and anything else for the beach. There are outhouses and private showers, which is amazing. The horses are the highlight. We only saw them Saturday that far down on the beach. Follow the signs and rules!!

We came to see the horses. Saw 8 within minutes. It was afternoon and they were feeding in the marsh. Also saw a pony. We didn’t stay to get to the beach it was so crowded so make sure you get there early. They also have a really nice visitor center. You are able to rent bikes, and they have a paved path.
Angela Radloff — Google review
There’s a tourist office right before crossing the bridge to ask about the horse’s whereabouts. They won’t know the exact location, but they’ll give you places to look out for. There’s also a bathroom to use here before heading to the beaches to look for the horses. We were able to spot a few after driving around!

We visited this beach 2nd week in April. It was chilly overcast day so we didn't stay long, but our kids love a beach no matter what the weather. It's an Honor Code System as far as the $5 entrance fee off-season.
It's the only State Park Beach I've been to where you share it with horses! Listen, I love this concept, but remember you're visiting a beach that you share with animals that relieve themselves whenever wherever, of course. It's their home, just watch your step and do everyone a favor, leave the horses alone, and admire from a distance. Fines are hefty. Great spot to enjoy beach camping!

Awesome beach and park. We saw few wild horses and walked on the beach. Our poodle enjoyed beach tremendously! Plenty spots for camping. Be aware of thorns. Our dog catch plenty of those just walking on grassy part. It was very painful for our fingers to remove those. To get to a deeper area of the park you need to pay even off season. Dog were not allowed there. Big parking lot. Bathrooms available in Visitor center before the breach. During season facilities open for campers on site.

There is a state park, national seashore Stas after paying the national parks fee.
I see wild horses each time I visit the state park section.
The seashore side has walking trails. There is old, broken Baltimore Avenue.
From this section of the Assateague park you can go off road, but I believe it comes with extra fees.
There is beach on both sections.
There is a nice campground on the State section.
I love this park. It's very relaxing here, you can really feel the nature and re-energize yoi soul.
Highly recommend Park

Absolutely in love with Assateague Island! This place is a hidden gem, and I can’t get enough of it. The highlight? The majestic horses that roam freely. In both of my visits, I’ve been lucky enough to spot these stunning creatures. Just a friendly heads-up, the park rangers are super vigilant about keeping everyone safe, so they’ll remind you to keep a respectful distance of 40 feet from the horses. Safety first, right? Speaking of safety, I’d recommend bringing a hard-top cooler, as those curious horses have an eye for any goodies we bring along. After all, it’s their island, and we’re just lucky guests. Don’t forget, the entrance fee is $25 for a 7-day pass, and if you’re feeling adventurous, they offer beach camping too. Can’t wait to make more memories in this truly unique paradise! 🐴🌴

Assateague Island National Seashore is a dog friendly gem for beach lovers and campers. Seemingless endless soft sand beaches, back country camping, as well as ocean view sites in the sand dunes within 100 ft of parking.
Our family has done bay side camping in summer's past, and it was very muggy with lots of mosquitos. The last few times we've camped on the ocean side in the off-season (Nov & March), it was windy and cold in the evenings and at night. So either way, do your research and come prepared. Next time we might try oceanside camping in the summer, and bayside camping in the off-season.
We had had good horse encounters and some not so good. Heed the Ranger's warnings about storing food in your car and throwing garbage in the dumpsters, when meal time is over. Keep and eye out for horses heading in the direction of your campsite and act fast.
That said, it's a unique and memorable experience to camp so close to the ocean, to observe nature up close, and to have the beach as your playground only steps away. And for those that enjoy 4-wheeling and/or fishing, OSV (over-sand vehicle) annual permits are available from the Ranger's station. It allows you to drive on the beach all the way to the Virginia state line (conditions permitting). And is a great way to get some distance from other campers/beach goers.
Rangers are really nice and helpful, vault toilets are clean and well stocked with toilet paper. Cold showers are available all year round.
For EV owners, we could not find any destination chargers (or 30amp/50amp outlets) to plug into during our stay, but that would be a great addition. There are solar arrays, but I think those feed the Rangers station. There are plenty of Tesla superchargers at Royal Farms closer to Ocean City or on the way to Salisbury. There are a few EVSmart 50kw chargers between OC and Salisbury as well, but very inconvenient.

We visited the north and south side. We saw horses on both sides with the horse up close on the road on the north side. Seems they have more free roam on that side with a fenced in area on the south side. Worth visiting both sides to learn the history, enjoy the trails, landscape, horses and ocean.

Very pretty Park. Docks on the river and kayak rentals available. Hiking trails looked nice, but it rained our whole visit so hard, didn't walk them. Bathhouse was so clean! Camping spots are roomy and in the woods, water hookups are sparse and not at sites with electric. Fill your RV water tank before arriving. We will return again.

Pocomoke River State Park is one of our favorites to visit! In the Spring it's so refreshing to breathe in fresh air. In Summer, we are delighted with pool access, ice cream cones and s'mores, paddling around the river, or 30 minutes to OC and Assateague Island. And, in Autumn (when kids are firmly back into school), adults can enjoy the gorgeous array of colors portrayed in the leaves and reflected upon the water! Magnificent!

Made a quick stop since it was a rainy day. We were on our way home from a vacation and wanted a place to do First Day Hike. Glad we stopped here. The state park had a hike posted with signs. It led us to the Nature Center. We were kindly greeted, offered a First Day Hike sticker, and hot chocolate. The center itself was wonderful too. Lots of exhibits with live snakes and turtles.

This is one of the nicest state parks we have stayed in. There are no sewer or water hookups, although there are water spigots in the centers of each camping loop. There are some loops with 30 amp electricity, and some loops allow dogs. Every site is heavily wooded, so there is no chance of a satellite signal. Cell service, both AT&T and Verizon, is slow. But every site is beautiful. The bathrooms are fairly new and are clean. Staff is friendly. The trails in the park are nice, but be sure to bring plenty of tick spray because the ticks are ridiculously numerous. They weren't bad in our site, but we picked up over 20 on us and our dogs when walking the trails. We have a 40' motorhome and F-150 and our site, Deer Run loop site 115, was plenty deep enough for both.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.

This is absolutely our favorite place to camp. Each site is wooded and gives you some shade and privacy. Great park to visit. Stayed at Shad's landing in a camper. Very quiet and relaxing spot to camp. Easy access to the water for kayaking. Had a great time visiting the nature center. The employees were very knowledgeable and welcoming. Fun playground for the kiddos. Pool was great. They provide life jackets for all children. They do not allow water wings for safety. Beautiful location to visit and relax.

Great place to camp. The bathrooms are clean and the shower was nice and hot with a lot of pressure. Only two complaints- there are only two showers in the bath house and there is a lot of barking at all hours. Other than that it is a beautiful place with lots to do.
I did the Berlin tour!! Honestly the best ghost tour I've been on :) it was a long night time walk, which was very lovely and spooky, but wear comfy shoes and use the bathroom before leaving. Also if you can't do long walks or have trouble seeing it could be difficult since it's quick and in the dark. But if you can do it, I totally recommend it ! Along with the thrilling ghosts and town mysteries, I learned a bunch about Berlins history! Our tour guide was Karen and she was very nice! She kept things interesting, you can tell she likes what she does! Anyway, I loved the tour very much and I would totally do it again!

We learned so many things and if we are ever in the area again, we will go on another tour!

Hands down our favorite winery in VA. Wine club has us returning at least once a quarter, but we usually end up back before just because we love coming to the shore. The wines here are fantastic and dry, and the dessert wine is pleasant and not too sweet. Our pup gets excited whenever we pull onto the gravel drive because she knows we're at Chatham! We love to stop at MTC on the way and enjoy our lunch with wine al fresco. Lynne is an absolute gem and always so welcoming. We always look forward to returning to Chatham!

We enjoyed them and then bought a bottle of the oak barrel Chardonnay and a bottle of the red blend. They offer two types of fresh baked bread which are both delicious. Our server was very friendly as well. The grounds are simple but offer plenty of places to sit. While there we met couples from England, Indiana and local folks. The word has gotten around that they are a great winery to visit!

Awesome experience visiting this winery. The wine tasting was excellent, and the grounds/estate of the vineyard are breathtaking and historic.

This a tiny but very attractive winery where one might not expect to find a winery—although the soil is rich and ancient. The 21 acres are hard at work producing a number of varieties from Chardonnay to Cabernets, although perhaps some in quantities small enough to require blending to produce marketable quantities.
Sheila had visited quite some time ago, and told me she and her friend had found the Chardonnay to be exceptionally good in the flight, and they consequently had purchased several bottles that they have been very happy with.
I purchased a bottle of “Church Creek Vintner’s Blend 2019,” although because I was driving and had a long way to go, I did not do any tasting. The tasting room is very pleasant, and there were many al fresco tables on the lawn, many of them occupied although it seemed a fairly hot day. The two attractive young sommeliers were very friendly, informative and welcoming, even giving me a very welcome bottle of cold water at my departure.
There is a generous private residence on the estate, but if you visit Chatham Vineyards it is preferred that you drive a left turn as directed to the Winery itself, where you should find ample parking.

We love to "get away from it all" at the Chatham Vineyards and enjoy their wines and cheese boards on the large lawn outside of the tasting room. There is ample seating and lots of room for kids or pets to romp, some shade trees, and a fire pit for cooler weather. Our go-to wine in summer is the Steel Chardonnay (think Chard, but crisp like a Sauvignon Blanc). For cooler months I like the Ventnor's blend red. The staff are friendly and happy to share information about their estate-made wines and Vineyard operation.

Great find on the way to our hotel. Six wines plus a dessert wine on the list, offering flights in actual glasses. Seems silly to say but in the times of covid it’s a refreshing to have something other than plastic shot glasses! Great beach for families with small children. This is the Chesapeake Bay, not the Atlantic Ocean so the waves are very small; no bodyboarding or surfing- SUP and skimboards work well though. There is also the occasional oyster shell sticking out of the sand so be sure to wear surf shoes or sandals if you’re down at the beach. Dogs aren’t allowed on the beach during the day (9am-9pm). Lots of restaurants and storefronts. Rent a golf cart for ease of transportation.

Cool historic lighthouse with a great view of the ocean and the, much newer lighthouse (black and white) adjacent to it. You'll pay about $10 for access to the lighthouse from what appears to be a small gift-shop/historic center. Once you make it past the cash register you'll climb a short set of stairs up the base of the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is a really easy climb which goes quickly unless you get stuck in a queue. I went on a cold windy day and was the only person inside the building. It's neat to stand at the top and feel the winds buffeting around the structure.
There's a small ladder you have to climb for the last 6 feet or so before you ascend into the glass area. It's not hard, but watch your head and suck in your gut if appropriate.
A cool place to visit but don't plan on spending more than 20 minutes at the location. Potentially not worth it if you don't have a military ID and are subjected to more rigorous security screening.

I was skeptical at first after reading all the reviews about the hassle/effort it takes to actually make it there…but glad I went…though there is some truth to those reviews.
They open at 10 sharp…so make sure you get to the gates at or after that. If you get there earlier…9:55..you will be kindly asked to return at 10. At this time masks are required for the bus ride, so they will confirm that you have one at the gate. Also, they will confirm you do not have any firearms in your vehicle. After a brief convo, you will be instructed to park in a designated area. You then go though a metal (wand) detector before submitting your ID (government issued) to them in exchange for a plastic coated numbered map. (You will need to return this after returning to this area before you leave in order to get your ID back) No backpacks, except baby bags are allowed. They had no issue with my professional-grade camera.
You then listen to a 5 minute briefing advising you to stay within the blue line outlined on the map. You then board the bus for a few minute ride to the lighthouse. There is the old lighthouse, which you can enter and climb. There is also a new lighthouse (black/white) which is still functional and you CANNOT enter that one. At the bottom of the old lighthouse, there is a port a potty. There is a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs and purchase your pass to go up to the top of the old lighthouse ($10). There is a straight set of outdoor stairs which takes you to the base of the lighthouse. From there, you can enter the lighthouse and proceed up the spiral stairs until you reach a small ladder (5-6 step) to go up into the very top of the lighthouse. If you’ve ever been to other lighthouses before…this is no different…it’s narrow and hot in there, so be mindful.
You can walk around the area a bit (as long as you stay within the blue line). There is a gas station there with a few snacks and drinks. After you are done exploring, you can catch the bus going back at the bottom of the old lighthouse, where you originally dropped off. They have two buses running on rotation I believe, so the wait isn’t long. Upon your return, you give them your numbered map in exchange for your ID.
I believe if you are military, you do not need to go through the screening process and can drive over directly to the lighthouse. Not 100% sure on this though.
Overall I had a good time there. I didn’t have an issue with the restrictions, but I can see how a family with a lot of children, or those with mobility issues would. The lighthouses and grounds are nice to see and take photos of…but there really isn’t much there, so some may lose interest pretty quickly.

Well we were dumb. Didn't read the reviews. Just saw we were going to a lighthouse. Quite shocking running into an armed guard on the way in. At that point there's really no turning back. Little freaky, but worth it. The guided tour was fun, it's pretty cheap. So amazing what a nice area it is but the military mows it all down to look like north Dakota. Couple historic houses on military property that they're going to tear down. ☹️.

This lighthouse is located in a military area. Be prepared for a security check of your car, provide identity documents (which will be kept safe until the end of your visit) and leave your car at the entrance and take a tourist bus provided to go to the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself had about 200 steps and was a great experience. By the way, you can only go up on the old lighthouse. The new lighthouse is still functional is out of bounds for visitors

A little adventure. Going onto a US military base to see a lighthouse. You’ll need your ID to get onto the base. Tell them you’re there to see the lighthouse. You then park off to the left, get wanded for security, and hop on a shuttle where they drive you to the old and “new” lighthouse. You only have to pay the fee if you want to go up into the lighthouse. You can still walk around without paying. You get a little map that shows where you’re allowed to go without getting arrested or fined for trespassing. A few well worn billboards and statues describe the history of the area.

Start out with, the lighthouse is on a military base. Not noticing the sign, but still stopping at the guard house, I had a young guy come out angrily and yelling. I can understand it if I did this on a daily basis, but this was the first time. Chill! Anyways, most the Navy folks were nice - some, not so friendly, but also not rude like the guy at the guard house. Be prepared to relinquish your ID while you visit. Civilian gal driving the shuttle was nice - not overly friendly. Shuttle does it's loop every 10 minutes. The souvenir shop is small. This is also where you pay to see the lighthouse. Got the AAA discount for $9. If the weather was nicer, then I would've checked out the gas station. Nice old lighthouse with great views.

Beautiful views. On Fort story military base so you have to surrender you id when you first get on base and you have to park and take a shuttle. You can tour the old lighthouse (brick one in photos) black and white is the new lighthouse and on the military base. You get a map outlined in blue and if you stay within the blue lines you won't have any trouble. You also get to walk up on a outlook and view the ocean. We even saw a submarine come up while we were on the outlook

A heavy military presence welcomes you to Fort Story, an active training base. The security check is worth it, as the historic beautiful lighthouse gifts you with awe-inspiring views (provided you navigate about 196 steps)! Be sure to take in the other historic features while you are on these hallowed grounds.

Great opportunity to see two lighthouses within walking distance of each other. One being old and decommissioned. The other is active and you cannot climb it. Beautiful view from the top of the old Cape Henry. The Cape Henry National Park Memorial is only a 5-minute walk from either lighthouse.

This was an ok adventure. Here are some key points to the visit;
1) once you arrive at the base gate they ask you some questions and take your ID. They keep it while you are on base.
2) you drive to a parking lot near by and get screened by a military personnel and given some laminated paper as your “ticket” you will have to return this in order to receive your ID afterwards.
3) you take a shuttle for a quick ride to the old light house.
4) you can not go to the new light house, just look at it
5) it is 10/person to climb the old light house.
6) there are a lot of stairs if you do this
7) inside the lighthouse at the top it is pretty hot up there if it’s warm outside.
8) the view is ok. You are pretty much looking at water one way and then the tops of building the other way.
9) you can walk to the gas station, the memorial, chapel and overlook. There are plenty of places off limits
10) the whole experience was cool and nice to pass the time but not sure I would personally want to come again. I liked supporting the military so we didn’t mind the fee to look at the lighthouse but if this was just some ordinary place and charged 10/per person I wouldn’t have done it. Seems more like a $5 charge would be better.

I have been visiting these two lighthouses since 1970. My family and I would spend a day here enjoying the lighthouses and beautiful beach. 🏖️This is great for family tours and meet ups. The staff is very friendly. Small gift shop now. They use to have a larger gift shop with amazing items. These lighthouses are incredible ❣️Located on Fort Story Base which requires all visitors 16 years and older to provide a valid ID. The driver of vehicle must show valid vehicle registration and proof of insurance. They now have a shuttle bus to escort guests. ADA service animal are only allowed. Ample parking available.

Neat lighthouse on a navy base. Requires an ID for entry. Can park on site but have to take the shuttle to the lighthouse since it's an active base. Navy personnel are friendly. Shuttle driver was nice and has good info. Was too hot to be able to go in the lighthouse so that was a little disappointing, but could go up the steps and look inside at the base of it. Admission was half price because of that also.

Very beautiful lighthouse. Had to pay to climb it but I didn’t pay so I watched from down below. Definitely worth seeing though and taking in the history of the area. Worth the visit just go up to the gate and explain you don’t have a military ID and I’m sure they’ll get you escorted or up to the lighthouse somehow. My bf is in the military so he has an ID that let’s him get into these places.

Beautiful place to visit when in Virginia Beach. It is required to carry your id card as this place is located in military area. Tickets are bought only if you are going up the light house. Else the visit to park and lighthouse area is free. It is strictly forbidden from stepping into some of the area there, stick to the boundary they suggest while entering this park.

Very interesting place to visit. Make sure to check website for visiting instructions. Will be greated my military personnel upon arrival. Make sure to bring drivers license. I visited off season so was able to get in. The bus driver is very friendly and informative.

The light house is located on Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. Visitors can go to the visitors' center and take a shuttle to the lighthouse. If you have a DoD ID, one can drive to the lighthouse. The orginial lighthouse is located adjacent to the new operational lighthouse. 79 steps to the base of the lighthouse and ~129 steps to the top of the tower. Great view of the coast and new lighthouse. Also, see the original 1607 landing of the Jamestown colonist a short walk from the lighthouse.
Michael Silas — Google review
Very interesting site - one older lighthouse, which can be climbed via 194 steps (!), the other is not accessible.
Great views of the Atlantic Ocean and the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. You do pass through Ft Story military base and will have to give your valid ID.

Great first lighthouse to ever visit. Nice piece of history to experience. The staff is very nice and helpful. You pay for entry and get to climb to the top of the lighthouse. It might be strenuous for some, but it has a cool view at the top! *Age restrictions apply for the climb.
Also, be aware that it is an active Army Base and needs a proper government ID. They do have shuttles that take visitors to get screened. *16+ need a valid ID.
Nick Hidalgo — Google review
The staff working the front desk were extremely nice and were very knowledgeable on the history of the two lighthouses. Active duty members can climb to the top for free if in uniform. (Not sure if that is a requirement but that’s what I did) it’s not too long of a hike up and there is an 11 step ladder at the top. The views were super nice and I highly recommend if you’re in the area.

So many steps...so great though, to be able to kinda envision the lifestyle of a Keeper. And how FIT you may have had to be to climb the stairs and maneuver around
Aisha Bonita — Google review
Great view from the top! Not a bad climb. But you MUST go through a security protocol as you are entering a DOD facility. You must park your car, go through security- think airport- and ride a shuttle. You cannot to the beach. There’s a long walk to a board walk to see the beach, but that’s it. Go for the lighthouse and go to First Landing state park for the beach.
First Landing State Park is a Virginia state park that is filled with miles of hiking trails and beautiful salt marsh scenery. It's one of the most popular state parks in the Commonwealth, and with good reason - it has everything you could possibly want in an outdoor adventure!
Nice park with a interesting landscape and beautiful trails along the water, through the forest and over swamps. It's perfect for jogging and biking!
The trails are easy to walk and they range from very less than a mile to more then 8 miles.
Also super quiet and calm and not crowded at all during winter. In winter it's basically free, in summer it costs a couple of dollars admission and parking.

Such a beautiful State Park. I was nervous with how popular it seems, how mellow everybody was. I came in off days, and didn't experience huge crowds. The beach was gorgeous, especially the morning I went extra early for sunrise! I stayed in a cabin.. they are kind of rustic but fully stocked kitchen and very clean cabin throughout. My kids and I loved our stay. 15 minutes from Virginia Beach but out in this cabin we felt tucked away. I will definitely book out here again!

Very good experience here. Most of the sites are big with a lot of space, fantastic cypress trees for hammocks! Store is great and the little food shop is pretty solid. Very nice beach with several access points. Busy place so reserve early. The bathroom on the west side of camp is meh, the new bathrooms and showers on the east end are very nice! The staff are knowledgeable and we'd love to come back.

Beautiful! Great trails! Board walk trails. They even had cute brochures for kids that had a find and seek adventure for the trails! Great place to walk dogs as well. It did cost 5$ to park, but it was for the whole day.

Amazing! Love how private the campsites are! So close to the beach too! The bathrooms could use an update. The store had cute items and a snack bar. The check in was easy and there is a small informative area with info about the park history.
I was having issues with my camper lock and got locked out. I found Ranger Noah and he was so kind to dial a local locksmith and let me use his personal phone!
I'll be back! I love VA Beach more now that I found this place!

Beautiful park with flat, easily walkable trails. A little confusing to get to. The Visitors Center has a very short boardwalk to the ocean, but is for campers mostly. Across the street is another entrance that leads to the Trail Center and the trails. We really enjoyed the cypress swamp - black water and all those knees poking up were a new look for us. Tons of dogs and few illegal bicyclist roaming around, so be ready to share the trails.

One of my favorite beaches/parks in the area. In the summer it's one of the only beaches in the area where we can bring our dog (who loves to swim!). The park has wonderful trails, and most of them are shaded. There are beaches on the Chesapeake Bay side and on the Broad Bay side, both are great. The campsites are spacious with lots of old oak trees all around. There are showers, bathrooms, a snack bar and gift shop. Be aware you do have to pay to park if you aren't planning on staying to camp. Great place to visit any time of the year.

Omg! This place is one of a kind and so beautiful! I cannot wait to do some additional exploring! There is so much to do. So much to explore. They have cabins, camping and yurts. You can buy firewood and ice at the information center. They have a store there as well as gift shop area. Sunglasses! Soda machines and a little restaurant. They have water fountains and one that looks like shower off type area to clean off sand. The beaches are just beautiful. No lifeguard on duty where I went so I don’t think they are there however the do have park police and rangers. My fiancé saved two children’s lives so please please please be very mindful of yourself and your children. When the tide comes in it can come in swiftly and catch you off guard and take you out. When the tide is out you can walk out pretty far before you even reach waist level. Make sure you know how to get out of a rip tide and under currants. They actual have information in the visitor center

First landing is like my home away from home. Every year we come to camp and enjoy the beautiful Chesapeake bay area. Clean restrooms and showers, wash sinks, laundromat, camping supply store, spacious campgrounds and miles of beautiful nature trails make camping a zen like experience. The ocean is about a ten minute walk and the bay is alive with dolphins, fish, crabs and waterfowl. This park is well-kept and definitely worth the visit!

Another gem of a State Park. Very nice campground. Road around the campground is pretty tight, so do some research on whatever site you plan on booking. We were in site 201 and had no problem fitting our 26 foot Cougar. Easy access from campground to the beach.

Neat place! I was surprised to see Spanish moss in Virginia. The trails through maritime forest, swamps, and marshes are so unique and something that I associated with the deep south instead of Virginia. The beach is nice, especially since it's not crowded and it is only a short walk from the parking lot.

My favorite place at the beach and something that makes Virginia Beach truly unique among resort cities. I run or hike here almost every day of the year. On hot summer days, it’s always 3-7 degrees cooler on the trails. Miles upon miles of trails through beautiful forests and wetlands. Seeing the ecology and untouched natural beauty of the area is amazing…Thick groves of ferns amongst the cypress, hidden beaches along the trails, boardwalks across the wetlands… the trails are kept impeccably and there’s a great variety. Kayaks, SUP, and boat rentals along the “Narrows” section, at the 64th St entrance. Truly one of Virginia Beach’s biggest assets.

Absolutely beautiful, very clean park with spacious campsites. Multiple entries (boardwalk paths) to the beach. Store stocked many necessary camping items and has a snack bar. Outdoor showers and restrooms are clean. Only criticism is they should have changing rooms for the day visitors.

Marvellous!
Miles of wonderful walking trails (and a couple of cycle trails) through the forest and along the edge of the creeks. Tiny beaches, inland pools and swampy areas definitely add interest. It has a very wild feel to it. Great views. The trail centre is nice too and all staff friendly. Some activities are on offer.

First Landing State Park was formerly called Seashore State Park. First Landing State Park is located on Shore Drive. Admission to the park is $7 per vehicle on weekdays and $10 on the weekends. The right side of Shore Drive is the beach access. The left side of Shore Drive has 20 miles walking, biking, and hiking trails. This is another one of Virginia Beach amazing parks. Many visitors fish, swim, camp, kayak, and boat at Fist Landing State Park. The employees are really friendly. The visitors information center is opened daily from 9 a.m - 5 p.m. The gift shop ,restrooms, and cafe is behind the visitors center. This is an amazing park 🏕️🚴🏻🏖️🏊🏼♀️🚣🏼♂️

Stunning. Bald Cyprus Trail is so worth the entrance fee. Definitely take the time!! (Parking is $7 on weekdays, and $10 on weekends). I absolutely love this place. I try to vacation along the boardwalk every chance I get. It's a beautiful walk along the beach with views for miles. Not just the beauty of this place is spectacular, but also the atmosphere. The last time I visited, I went out just after dark because I wanted to see the ships going past. Well, I was amazed at all the active, happy people present laughing, joking, playing music and having fun. It's an experience to remember. There is so much to see and do along the boardwalk; many picture opportunities, artistic sculptures, fishing, beach activities, small museums, music, biking, restaurants offering freshly caught seafood...I could go on and on. It's definitely worth a visit no matter your age. It's fun for the whole family.

Located in the southeast of Virginia, Virginia Beach is a city that lies at the intersection of Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Its oceanfront stretches 3 miles, adorned with a boardwalk and beach-lined views. The First Landing State Park situated on its bayside commemorates the arrival of English colonists to Jamestown in 1607.
The Casemate Museum of Fort Monroe showcases the colonial roots and military significance of the fort from the 19th century onwards. Although closed during one visit, there were numerous informative signs outside detailing historical events such as Jefferson Davis' imprisonment in this building and an Army doctor's medical care for him. Across the street is Lee's Headquarters, which had a sign removed due to political pressure. Visitors should take note of its historical importance during their walking tour.
Such fascinating history! And it was free to enter. The exhibits and signs are fantastic.
Vance Boyer — Google review
It was not open when I visited, but the outside had several historical interpretive signs which told a little bit about what went on here. The main two were about Jefferson Davis, since this is the building where he was imprisoned. One of them is in gratitude of the US Army doctor who attended to him while here. Across the street is Lee’s Headquarters, and since the current Virginia administration loves erasing and contorting history, they had the sign removed that told about it. The walking tour should still mention it, but who knows how long it’ll last. Very cool cannon on the side, be sure to visit while at Ft. Monroe. Cheers.

If you’re a history buff this is a must see if your in the area visiting or if you live in the area and have never been. It’s an old military base with a museum and lots of history. Beautiful old houses and church. The museum has lots to offer and you can walk the grounds of the base freely. I will say that they do have some civilians occupying some of the dwellings so please just be mindful. We wouldn’t want to trespass in others property. Fort Monroe is very educational. It is surrounded by a moat and you can walk up the steps outside the museum and visit an actual pet cemetery as you walk on top of the museum and take in spectacular views as the museum itself is actually built into the ground. It doesn’t cost anything but you will have to obtain tickets that you can get at the information center located just steps away from the museum itself.

The museum is full of artifacts and narrative displays from its storied past. It is much larger than I expected as it wends its way through the walls of the fort. It is climate controlled so it can be a good refuge if the weather turns nasty. The number of people permitted to enter at one time is restricted, so stop in at the visitors center first. There is a gift shop within the museum, but be aware that it is closed during the off season.

Its a nice and interesting museum that you can walk through and have seen everything in probably about 40 minutes. They used to have more exhibits I believe before Covid but I was told due to flood damage in 2020 some things have changed. It has some neat information and displays about the history of the Fort and its role during the Civil War. This is also where Confederate President Jefferson Davis was held captive for 2 years which the museum also has information about. Entrance is free but you must go to the Visitors Center which is less than a 3 minute walk and reserve/pick up tickets. They let people in the museum every 15 minutes and tickets are very easy to get. The visitor center on its own also houses a few exhibits which are quite interesting. If visiting the Casemate Museum I highly recommend combining it with a walk of the area. It is quite accessible and there are countless of nice views and walks around this area, within and outside of the fortress.

The visitor center has a small museum in it. The Casemate itself is pretty cool. Tiny gate to drive through that will have you worried you will get stuck (you probably won't). Great views from the ramparts. Inside is really interesting. Best part is the cell Jefferson Davis stayed in. A few things from the war of 1812. Would have liked to see more on Edgar Allen Poe though.

Fantastic staff, clean, well curated . So much history to absorb and appreciate. I would suggest if you have a timeframe you know you’re wanting to come booking the time on eventbrite it made everything really easy and I knew I had a guaranteed time slot to plan around. I am from Florida and in school this wasn’t a place my teachers focused a history lesson on but really should have . It’s really history is so immense to the founding of our country and really reminds you of how much effort people in the United States history made to protect it.

Plenty to see and lots for the lils to do. We went during the Dino exhibit which was a hit! It was 90+ today so getting back into the ac was fantastic but the shade definitely helped outside. We couldn't go outside on our visit, but I look forward to another visit for that purpose. My 1 year old grandson enjoyed the Shark Pajama Jam, the music, snacks, and activities. The staff was nice. I also enjoyed the guy who worked at the front desk and danced and smiled the whole time.

This was an interesting little zoo/museum. Focusing mostly on the Virginia and Chesapeake Bay, they also have facts about history of the area. They have some dinosaur exhibits and interesting outdoor walkways. I didn't get to do the planetarium and was a little bummed about that. They do have special events. Worth checking out if your in the area. They aren't really large and certainly geared towards younger kids around 4 to 7.

Wow! Part zoo, part museum, ALL fun! We had our 6-, 4 ½- and 3-year-old grandkiddos with us, and they all had a blast... and so did we!
Aviary was good - Children's Garden was fantastic - especially the hobbit house.
Beavers, wrestling otters & foxes were the faves.
One of the zookeepers let the kids help her feed the catfish, and they were thrilled!

Awesome place to take your family. The museum host several events and exhibits. If u go you must see the otters they are so fun to watch and are very playful with guest. Also, the museum has a new alligator. Definitely recommend the living museum

Great place to spend the day. There are multiple exhibits you can see. There is a beautiful boardwalk section where you can view various animals. There's demonstrations throughout the day like the alligator feeding. All of the staff are informative and will happily answer your questions.
There's also a kid's dinosaur area.

Brought out the whole family and we loved it! The museum was clean and the animals were clearly well cared for. My 18 month old daughter LOVED the children's garden, dino park and playground, and all the interactive exhibits inside.

What a fantastic museum! We've been coming here for many years and it's still my favorite. The outdoor trails are peaceful and you can tell the animals are accustomed to human interactions. I love the way the inside is set up, you feel like you can get up close to everything. The aquariums are also beautiful!

So much bigger than we expected. Got in with ASTC reciprocal tickets. Would not have known of this place otherwise. Will definitely be visiting again when we're near the area

The best museum for kids ever. Our one year old absolutely loved it. The layout is great. This was a really great find for our vacation. Highly recommend for anyone with kids. It is like a hybrid zoo/aquarium/nature sanctuary. We liked it

Your kids will LOVE VLM! The whole family will. It is a great place for birthday parties too!

Nice museum for the kids, lots of interactive play areas and things to touch and climb on. When we visited, there were animated dinosaurs on exhibit. Very interesting. The inside of the museum looks a little dated, like it hasn't had a fresh coat of paint in over a decade.
The highlight is the outside area. Nice boardwalk path over a marshy area and views of native Virginia animals (assuming they aren't sleeping in their homes during the daytime heat). The foxes were adorable.
Next time I'd plan to see a show at the planetarium.

Really fun place. I think i might like it better than the zoo. It's a bit more immersive. The walk back in the woods is really pretty. Lord of stuff for little kids.

The Mariners' Museum and Park is an extensive, comprehensive museum dedicated to global maritime history. One of the main attractions is the on-site USS Monitor Center which displays parts of the Civil War-era Monitor, one of the world's first ironclad warships, along with numerous associated artifacts and a life-sized replica. The museum also showcases a wide range of seagoing vessels from throughout history and their sailors in its vast collection.
Very nice place! Great location, we love visiting here! Nice family location. Beautiful grounds, and nice to take your pets for a walk, or as a family to go walking. Big parking lot as well. We love their walking trails!

Wonderful museum! All of the exhibits are well thought out and informative. We came for the Monitor exhibit and were not disappointed. The America's Cup exhibit was fantastic as well. If you're a history buff or a Mariner, plan to spend a solid half day here. We'll be back!

Beautiful museum! Great for families! Admission was only $1 when we visited. There was something for everyone here.
Children's area, amazing artifacts, and emersive exhibits. Our favorite was the miniature ship models. The kids loved the scavenger hunt. Everyone working here was so friendly. The cafe was closed the day we went. However, there are great places to eat nearby.

Loved it!! I'm visiting from GA and didn't really know much about it. The Battle Theater movie is a MUST and it was very educative on what happened between the two ironclads. The rest of the exhibits made a lot more sense once I watched that.
The life size Monitor was fun to walk on, and the small part of the replica CSS Virginia that you can go inside was fun too.
The scavenger hunt for kids kept everyone super attentive and involved and because it's basically just a checklist, kids of most ages can participate.
We had a wonderful time!! I highly recommend it if you're in the area. Plus, it's only $1!!

This museum is a paradise for any naval or military historian, as well as for anyone that has sailed on the sea. The employees were all passionate and helpful, and there are plenty of things for kids to do, including a scavenger hunt. The museam is wonderfully curated and took about three hours to go through, and the cafe had fairly priced food and drinks.

Stunning natural beauty. Stopped by on a whim. Took a short walk on the Norton Trail. Came to the bridge and stopped there. Absolutely the most peaceful place. Then I looked down over the water and saw the 🐢 🐢 🐢 turtles. Wow...beautiful creatures. These aren't the loggerheads by the sea, these are Snapping turtles of various sizes. Amazing sight. Do not feed any wild life in any park. But especially here. These turtles can snap a finger in a minute. I watched them from the bridge. Safe distance...next time I'll go further. Loved it💜

We once think this is a museum of telling history, but after we visited, we agree this is the museum for education, better to visit with your children. The most exhibits are modern ship models, and they will show how this model was made. Maybe the story behind the model will insist many people to learn.

This is a great place to spend some time and is definitely worth a visit. Entry fee is only $1 but you can leave a donation if you enjoyed your visit. There are a full range of pieces from sailing boats to historical artifacts. There is a viewing area where you can see artifacts in various stages of restoration.
There are restored artifacts on display. There are knowledgeable staff walking around who are eager to answer any questions that you may have. There is an outside walking park but wasn't able to do it due to bad weather on the day of our visit. There is a gift shop and cafe on site.

Took my 5yr old son here on a relaxing Saturday. We had fun completing the scavenger hunt the front desk gave us. Museum only charged around $2 that day. No lines and not busy but a lot to see.

This was a beautiful museum to go to! It was surprisingly large, with lots of information on different vessels and maritime events.
This place included beautifully detailed hand-made models of ships, real vessels, shipwrecked parts of the USS Monitor, and a full sized replica of the USS Monitor.
There was also an extremely large park you could enter for free, with lots of wildlife.
This is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon at!!

This museum is great. Extremely well done. With a $1 entrance fee, I had low expectations but this museum impressed around every corner. It focuses on the "Merrimack and Monitor" ships primarily, but it never gets boring. Quality displays that provided plenty of interesting information in a variety of formats. There's also a park that looked great, but we didn't have time to visit. This museum is well worth the stop.

If you've never heard or seen this place you should definitely come and check it out. The ticket price per person is only $1.00. My son really enjoyed it and wants to go again sometime.

I cannot believe it is only a dollar to get in. The exhibits are phenomenal and the collection is comprehensive. I cannot wait to go back. The Monitor display is so cool. Make sure to watch the film in the gallery to understand why it is so important.

I was in town on a business trip and stopped here to kill some time before my flight home and was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering, I was greeted by the docents who were very knowledgeable and provided tips on how to best navigate the museum and exhibits.
The highlights of the museum are the artifacts from the USS Monitor. You definitely want to watch the movie on the Battle of Hampton Roads between the USS Monitor and CSS Virginia. There's also the International Small Craft Center located in a separate building and an informative exhibit on the America's Cup yacht. But my favorite exhibit was the Miniature Ship Models of August Crabtree.

Amazing! If you are in the VA Beach area, definitely go see the museum. $1 admission which means basically free!

Lots of information regarding the Monitor and Merrimack battle, plus other general mariner information. The replica and artifacts from the Monitor were the biggest draw and are not to be missed. The museum is only $1, so you can't be it for value, and the docents are excellent and knowledgeable.

We learned so much, and entry was only $1 each. It took us 2.5 hrs to get through the first half. However, we read everything and looked at everything thoroughly. We Want to go back next time we are in VA as they were setting up for a new exhibit.

We spent nearly 3 hours in the museum, which cost us only $1 each. It was well laid out and very informative. It described the story of the ironclad ships, the Merrimac and the Monitor, and there were reconstructions of the Monitor's turret as well as the entire ship. It was really interesting to see the actual turret being treated/preserved in a giant tank in the museum. Our only disappointment was that the cafe was closed. We then walked the 5-mile Noland trail around the park. This is a well- marked path with 14 large wooden bridges.

Great museum for all ages. Also history is being restored in front of your eyes! Having the actual first Ironside that you can see and almost touch is amazing! I can't wait until it's all finished!
I was with my sister and her family and had fun playing large scale battleship and exploring with them. Highly recommend this to anyone in the area!
