Renninger's Flea Market & Antique Center is a large indoor and outdoor flea market that offers a wide range of antiques, musical instruments, and other items. The marketplace boasts rows upon rows of vendors, many buildings, and unique shops. Visitors should be prepared to navigate the hilly and dusty terrain by wearing sturdy shoes. Parking is ample but may require patience due to high demand. While shady areas are plentiful, visitors should also prepare for sunny spots by using sunscreen and staying hydrated.
Biggest Flea market I've been to in a while! Inside in the a.c. and walking around outside too... Saw plenty of places to eat from tacos to chicken on a stick, grilled corn on the cob and fresh made in front of you mini donuts! Great for a weekend trip! Highly recommend for families and the antique pickers!

So there's a lot going on on this property. I I've gone here a few years ago and it's pretty good. So at the light you have the main flea market. It's on the left side of the property. There are a few indoor buildings that lead into like outdoor open air sections which leads next to another open air section and then to a section that's got like outdoor areas and properties that have like plants and chickens and that kind of stuff. When you come down the hill on the right side of the property you have like a large parking area and then you have an antique flea market that also has like a little like Village of smaller buildings and sheds some of them are like pole barns. In between the antique flea market and the main flea market there is an event space. If you were trying to get to the event space when you're at the light or the entrance before the light you go in and you take a right. In front of you you will see the gate that brings you into the antique flea market you do not go in there. You will see some signs that talk about event parking which is right outside that gate. You park there and if you take a left at the antique gate about half a mile down the road will be a like metal structure that is the entrance into the event space. This is where a lot of the like craft shows/concerts/flea markets are. When you first get into this event space there is a large pole barn style structure that's got old wooden plywood tables. Then you have a like stage structure next to it and there are flushable bathroom stalls and porta potties around and there's lots of picnic benches in the area. One thing I do wish is that the events that they have are more advertised. For instance we went to an event there and they didn't have any signage at all on the road or even up where there's yellow event parking signs that are always there they had no parking signs about what the event was or where to go to get to the entrance. It's very simple fixes but they seem to always drop the ball.

Love this place, great events all year around, nice and affordable access, very organized. Always the best vendors and food 😋 ❤️

There is so much to see. We went on the weekend of the antique extravaganza. There were a lot of people, but it did not feel crowded at all. Honestly, one day was not enough. I feel like we missed so much. Some parts indoors and air conditioned, others outside. There are stationary establishments down the art walk. If you're looking good enough, you will find what you need. Such an aray. Antique market, flea market, outside garage sale type tables, war memorabilia, signage, furniture, just everything.

Great flea market and antique center in Mt Dora. Free to walk around and park. It was fun to check out. Great for something to do in the weekends.

Haven't been to a flea market in so long, so we decided to drive from Orlando to Mt.Dora for this location. This flea market did not disappoint. Lots of vendors from food, plants, jewelry, produce, and much more. My daughter even found some collectors edition dolls she's been looking for. The a/c portion of the market is outstanding when it's so hot and humid outside. It is on the smaller side compared to the flea world, which sadly closed. Will continue to visit to get cheaper produce and look around for hidden gems. Plus we didn't visit the antique side since we ran out of time.

Great antiques market this weekend at Mt Dora, Florida Antique Extravaganza Market. Many vendors with lots of vintage products to sell. Great food court with international cuisine.

We had fun walking around this flea market! There is a lot of junk but there are also some great gems. Whether you’re looking for vintage video games, toys, tools, phone accessories, purses, household items, pet supplies, army supplies, or just some delicious treats…this is a cool place to find all these things. Some stuff is old and some is new you never know what you’ll find!

Renninger's Extravaganza Weekend blew me away! So much to see, do, eat, drink, and enjoy! And I only scratched the surface. This place is HUGE! Rows upon rows of vendors, many buildings, little unique shops! Wonderful!
TIPS I LEARNED THE HARD WAY: Very hilly and dusty grounds, so bring sturdy shoes. Parking is plentiful, but be prepared to wait, so be patient. Lots of shady areas, but also many sunny, open-air places, too, so use sunscreen and hydrate!

Should have taken more photos from there but you can tell what I took notice of there - so much to see & lots of food to pick from - easy to spend a lot of time there- also during November, January & February- the 3rd weekend adds Extravaganza of antiques & more food

I love this flea market, and decided to go for my birthday on Feb. 17. I noticed some tents and such, but I wasn't looking for events and wasn't aware of any that weekend, since I don't use social media, and apparently the only place they list them is there. We parked where they told us to, and tried to enter the antique mall. I would have been happy to pay the extra for the even had the not been two elderly ladies at the entrance screaming at me that I had to pay before I even knew what was happening. There were no signs about the event, and is never had to pay to get in before, so I was a bit confused. I guess that isn't allowed. There's always been a few rude vendors, but I just chalked it i up to age and avoided their booths. Now, I don't want to come again at all. I have no desire to be screamed at by old ladies. I can get that at my grandmother's house for free.

Boyetts Grove and Citrus Attraction is a unique gift shop with a zoo that offers visitors the opportunity to feed the animals and more. It embodies the essence of a classic roadside attraction, reminiscent of traditional Americana. The establishment boasts an assortment of captivating and antique collectibles for browsing. In addition, there is a mini golf course on-site for entertainment purposes.
Boyett’s Grove and Citrus Attraction is a fantastic place to visit that gives they the full feel of a classic road side attraction and dips into the classic Americana of the past. The place is filled with random collectibles that you get to look through, some are odd, some are fascinating and some are antique collectibles. There is an on-site mini golf course and a collection of rescued animals. You can purchase food to feed the animals and walk through their habitats to get close to them. Highly recommend if your in the area.

If you’re into quirky, weird, off the road side, one of a kind places you won’t se anywhere else, this is it. Everyone was so nice from the lady working to the register to Brandon out back with the animals we had a great experience. If you want the opposite of typical Florida tourism where no one is going to bother you and explore, this is it. My kids had an absolute blast. From the singing birds to the super unique mini golf. Prices are very fair and all inclusive versus getting nickle and dimed tp death for every little thing. They have an animal species I had never seen before. Highly recommend.

Felt like I walked into something out of a movie. Much larger than expected! There’s animals, a museum, an aquarium exhibit, mini golf and more. What I enjoyed most of all was the eclectic art and old Florida museum items. We were there for about 2+ hours. Highly recommend. Kids enjoyed it. For 2 adults and 2 children it came up to $46, included food bucket for animals. Don’t come here expecting Walt Disney vibes. This is a road side attraction. It’s Route 66, Area 51, Slab city minus the city vibes. Not all of it has to make sense and that’s the beauty of it. It’s quirky, unusual and exciting. The indoor exhibits could use some help. The ceilings had some noticeable mildew on them. The animals all appeared to be well taken care of. All employees were very friendly and helpful.

This is a must see attraction, this fun little spot has lots to see. Indoor they have a great variety of novelty items / candy to gift as well as some fresh fruits. I loved the little tour that told us about the place and what the display was about, there were multiple displays. The zoo was absolutely wonderful. A good variety of different animals, the kids got to feed the turtles, goats, lamas and a pony as well as much more even a camel. I love the way the path took us around the zoo, the greenery was beautiful. We did have a tour guide at the zoo, I believe his name was Brandon but I am not certain. He is a keeper!!! He was super friendly, knowledgeable and really really seemed to love the animals. I would give this place 5 stars however, it was a bit warm indoors and could use a dusting but I get it, the building is older. My family absolutely enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quirky, unique experience.

If you love roadside attractions and tourist traps like I do, this place is gold. The animals are all beautiful and are used to being fed. The building is interesting and full of curiosities.
Well worth a couple hours, they also have mini golf!
And fresh hand scooped ice cream!
We are going back with the kids for sure.

This place is actually really cool! When you first pull up it looks like you're just at a citrus farm building. But when you walk in it so much more. The owners of taking the time to create this cool dinosaur cave for the kids. They have mini golf. They have an aviary with some really great birds a great personality. They give you this bag of food that you get to go out and feed all the animals. My favorite was the camel. And they have this tortoise that obviously is very old but always happy to come over and Munch some greens. They also have this cute ice cream parlor. And they're very generous in their scoops. This citrus farm has been around for a hundred years. This really cool to see some of our Florida history and the kids had a blast. Definitely will be back

People keep calling this a roadside attraction. Most roadside attractions are free. This is overpriced. It costs 2 of us $33 (w/tax). The cons are the buildings are super old & not handicap accessible. The bathrooms (only 1 of each) are filthy and you are lucky to get them to flush. The outside sidewalks are so uneven and broken up that they are an extreme safety hazard.
The pros, there are a lot of weird oddities in the museums. Some are unique and some not so much. There are unique animals to see, but it does leave you wondering how they can eat white hot dog buns, rye bread and pellets all day long that people are feeding them. As much $ as they are taking in, they are definitely not putting it back into restoring the place. But if you are looking for unusual, this is the place.

I've come here time and time again and I'm always amazed. From the feeding zoo to the mini golf and the fun museum that has multiple parts. Their variety of beautiful and fun animals is definitely a sight to see. Their museum has attractions from African animals to Citrus production and bees. They've got amazing ice cream choices at their ice cream bar. Their gift shop has a wide variety of drinks, jellies and other oddities.

What a quirky fun place! Random rooms and paths with a surprise around every corner. Different themed rooms and all kinds of memorabilia and very well done large scale displays. Fish tanks, pirates, dinosaurs, lots of Old Florida, vintage grove objects. Admission includes food to feed some of the animals ( Wally the camel, tortoises, horse, ducks, goats, rheas and a llama). Also includes indoor/outdoor fun putt putt golf with a great old west theme. Citrus fruit, jellies and tons more in big fun multi roomed gift shop. Many other rescue animals in other shaded areas along the paths. Extend your admission to include a drink and delicious old fashioned ice cream in a large variety of flavors and a drink. We went on a beautiful, comfortable, breezy April day. Tremendous amount of effort, skill and creativity. This is unique! Definitely will be back!

sweet place. so quirky and weird. feels like a different dimension. staff is so nice and friendly and the animals are friendly and eager to be fed. can’t wait to come back 😸
Jacqueline Cook — Google review
The outside animal feeding was very nice. The animals were all well taken care of. Brandon was very knowledgeable and helpful. We enjoyed our interaction with him.
The rest of the experience was odd. The miniature golf was dark and the numbers worn off. We couldn't find out where to get the clubs or balls. There definitely wasn't enough signage as we couldn't find our way out to leave. We gave up on the miniature golf when we couldn't even find anyone to ask for instructions. If it wasn't for the animals, I would give it 1 star. My 6 year old grandson enjoyed feeding the animals.
Jan Destefano — Google review
This place gives Silence of the Lambs/Hills Have Eyes vibes. It’s basically someone’s chaotic funky farm. This maze of stuffy tarp lined hallways lead to areas with bizarre collections, including dimly lit rooms full of dusty taxidermy, creepy animatronics, and “antiques?” are what makes this place “unique” (as other reviewers put it).
The outside is another junkyard-esque maze full of distressed and thin animals. Their cages are poorly kept, adorned with defensive signs: “AUTOMATIC WATER” There was no water in sight. One of the birds is living in what appears to be a ratty forest enclosure with a pathway less than 1 foot wide lining its edges. We fed them sticky pellets, dried grass, and still thawing Nature’s Own Honey Wheat bread.
We purchased all inclusive tickets for our family of 5. We did not get ice cream because after using the aromatic bathrooms where the toilets were literally hanging on by a bolt and rolls of toilet paper were strewn about, we did not feel we’d enjoy it. We did not do mini-golf because it was to dark in the tin topped fun house to see what we were doing. We left this place feeling uncomfortable and remorseful, confused and concerned; but, as other reviewers said, the staff was nice.
Please don’t give this place your money.

This place was so cool! So many different animals to see and feed! And lots to see in the museum inside as well! Would absolutely recommend anyone who loves animals, likes ice cream shop 50’s style, aquarium, display of old style cars & so much more!! to visit this place! Definitely going back again & probably again! Lol

This is such a cool, unique place to visit. The owners were so nice and accommodating. My dad has a mobility scooter and was able to navigate 95% of the attractions. My toddler loved the dino cave and all the animals. My son especially loved mining for gold. It's definitely worth a visit!
Hontoon Island Adventures is a state park that offers a variety of family-friendly activities suitable for all ages. Visitors can enjoy renting canoes and utilizing the picnic area while taking in the natural beauty of the park. The bike and hiking trails cater to all levels, making it an excellent spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Booking a cabin online would allow guests to fully experience everything this beautiful state park has to offer, such as fishing and other recreational opportunities.
Always a great place to visit. Playground and picnic area, small visitor center, walki g trails, bike rentals, marina, clean restrooms, rocking chairs. Great place to stop and relax. Unfortunately, the island was flooded a few months ago, and the camping area and visitor center will not reopen until late August.

It was a wonderful experience. We decided to go canoeing/kayaking around the island and it was really great the wind was out to get us but beautiful scenery nonetheless. The camp sites are open and maintained no power but you're trying to escape from that so I enjoy it.

The best Florida state park I have stayed at. Quiet and serene with great manicured hiking trails. Best of all I saw zero trash in the park, even deep in the woods. I am almost afraid to post a review; I don't want to many people to know about it.

Used to love coming to this park. But thanks to hurricane and change of staff and management, this park is run down. They don't take care of it anymore. Every single trail is closed, camping closed, no ferry to the island. This park used to be wonderful but it has gone downhill. Please get a better manager and better staff!! The crew from 4 years ago used to be amazing. We boated in a couple of weeks ago and everyone was sitting around on their laptops.. This is such a shame and these people should be ashamed of themselves.

Really nice experience, the ferry to the island is free and they accept donations, everyone we met was super chill and polite. Turns out they also have what they refer to as primitive cabins for reasonable prices to rent out. Would easily return again with friends and donations.

We found this place by accident we were actually going to Blue Springs Park but they were closed because they were full. Our lucky day we found this Hidden Gem and put our kayaks in the water here and had a great time. Don't forget to visit the visitor center across the way, you can take a ferry over there and they also rent canoes and kayaks and have hiking trails.

I loved this little island approximately 40 minutes from Orlando. Free ferry ⛴ over only 6 at a time so you may have to wait. State park run by volunteers so be patient. Once you cross there are great areas to picnic and play and a little store with comfy rockers out front overlooking water. Dog and kid friendly and nice easy walking path through old growth and new growth areas. They also rent kayaks, bikes, and affordable cabins. I was on my way to Blue Springs State Park and they were full, this park is approximately 20 minutes from there and well worth checking out. I have included many pics. If you find this helpful please like.

The park rangers and staff make sure this place is clean and everyone is so helpful they even have boat and bike rentals. Wonderful camping sites. And cute cozy cottages. I will return here again and again. Wonderful hiking trails. For a nice bike ride or a quiet peaceful walk. They have a 5k trail anda 10k trail. And too see all the aninals..

Despite being a friday it was quite calm and quiet. The trails are well maintained and easy to hike. The recent rains had water up on a trail (which was marked as being a wet trail) at some places however it was still easy and in the lowest spots there were walkways in place. The cabins looked well maintained from the outside and were a easy walk from where you enter the park. As for price to enter, it was the best price, free, although they do accept donations. All in all a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

I truly enjoyed my visit to this park after waiting for almost three months for it to reopen, it didn't disappoint. The island is so serene and relaxing. The staff was all very helpful and nice. The park was clean and well-managed. Loved the short ferry ride and the trail hike . The nature trail was still closed but there are other routes you could take to get to the mounds, and the other side of the river. Saw different kinds of birds along the way. The Visitor Center is a great place to learn about the history of the island and its wildlifes. I couldn't recommend it enough, and it's only a short drive from Orlando!!! I will definitely be back.
Vicky Lewis — Google review
This was the most wonderful day my son and I have had in a long time. You start with a short ferry ride to the island, captained by an extremely welcoming and informative park ranger. As you dock, there is a massive playground to your left, canoes to rent to your right, and just ahead of you is a building containing a ranger's station, a gift shop, and a visitor's center which is like a room of a museum (that alone held the attention of my 9 year old and myself for quite some time). Apon the suggestion of the ranger that ferried us over, we headed to the right towards the hiking trail. There are several miles of trails on the island most hard dirt roads but the hiking trail avgs 36 “ in width and involves some jumping and balancing but only to get around black muck filled low-lying areas (which only adds to the adventure). We saw an array of different birds on our trip, brave birds that were not startled by my excited son's voice. There is all sorts of wildlife in the island including deer, gator, and bear but we didn't run into anything of the sort. We spent 5 hours hiking and walking around the park. On our way back to ferry we passed through to camping area that boasted more than a dozen firepits, grills, and camping sites including cabins. There are bathrooms and showers situated in the middle of the large camping area. We decided that we will be renting one of those cabins before the summer hits. If you like fishing, look no further, there are two rivers and a lake off her shores. The only thing I regret is not having cash on me to donate to the park, I won't make that mistake next time (which could be today, they are open 365 days a year).

Perfect Location and Excellent Service for my Birthday Party Concert Fundraiser!
We hosted my birthday party concert fundraiser, Rock Stars for Lake Cares, in April 2022 at the Key West Resort on Lake Dora. The rooftop event space was perfect! Sam, Sydney, Alex and the maintenance team were responsive and helpful. Our guests loved the lake and sunset views from the rooftop. We were able to extend a blocked room rate to our guests, which was nice. The band had access to electrical outlets and all went well from a sound standpoint.
We had several guests stay at the resort and they were happy with the accommodations. They have a pool with a lake view and a restaurant, The Dog House, on the property, which is great. Our catering and event team said everything went smoothly, and the guests are still talking about this wonderful venue and how much fun they had at the event!

Sydney the front desk associate was amazing! She accommodated our needs and went above and beyond her responsibilities. My AC wasn’t working when we arrived, she immediately had maintenance take care of the issue, though it never worked, she switched my room and put me into a better location with a better view of the lake. Sydney also gave us great recommendations on food and must do while in town locations. The town is amazing and the people are great! This location is conveniently located near great food and drinks! Will visit again! Omg the rooftop view is to die for.

I've stayed at the Key West Resort many times. I love the location on the lake. It's convenient to both coasts ( 1 1/2 hour drive). Both Sydney and Dani at the desk are great. Both ladies are very helpful to resolve any issues, as well as very welcoming when I check in. And ( as with ANY place I've stayed), there are small issues. But nothing so drastic that I would not come back.

Not only did they go out of their way for us we watched them deal with some of the rudest people and they dealt with it flawlessly. You can't please everyone but these girls sure did try. One morning I was sitting in the breakfast area which by the way is quick and easy. They also have alot of different options. Well as we ate breakfast Miss Anna was running around making sure everyone had what they needed and was super sweet. We had a great stay and will definitely come bk because of the staff! They made our stay so much better.

Nice location overlooking the lake. 'Resort' is very dated. Could be an awesome spot with a little effort. Breakfast room had folded plastic tables with plastic table cloths making it feel more like a kids camp than a resort. Room was basic but clean. Staff pleasant.

This is a cute and unexpected resort on the shores of Lake Dora in Tavares, FL - they are the seaplane capital of the world. Lots of bars and restaurants. Great little coffee shop. The rooms are above retail space in three separate buildings. Our balcony overlooked the lake and we watched seaplanes take flight. Room was older but HUGE and very quaint. It was very quiet at night. We had a minor issue with the TV but a maintenance guy came and took care of it immediately. Bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Easy check in/out. Free breakfast was just okay. Pretty typical of hotels. Our only concern was to get to the elevator in our building we had to enter through a rather sketchy back door off the parking lot. It was just a screen door but the elevator required a key card so it felt safe. We will be back.

What a fun hotel! Spread out in 3 buildings on Lake Dora. Every room has a great view. Large clean rooms. Walk in closet to stash your stuff. Restaurant very good! Staff attentive.
First floors are commercial (great coffee shop) and entrance to rooms is in the back of the building. Watch your step! You don't want to encounter the concrete parking barriers!
Breakfast is adequate...go to the coffee shop!

Beautiful view and spacious clean accommodations . The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was a joke with prepackaged foods. And slim pickings at that. The front desk are a salty bunch and sloppy in appearance. Definitely doesn't want to be at work like behavior. The surrounding restaurants where great. So much potential with this place.

If you are there to party and not care where you crash then its perfect. I paid more for a lake view which was a lie. I was in a building furthest from the lake. The room was dirty. I had to wear shoes until getting into bed or my feet would be black. No one sweeps or mops. Just take a look up at the exhaust fan in the bathroom covered in dust and know they do not clean. The bed sounded like the frame was going to break any minute. The elevator was disgusting and dirty. It was very noisy and crowded. We had no place to park by our building because it was taken over by the people attending the bars. I would NEVER stay there again.

Absolutely the rooms were clean, decent sized and all amenities worked well (shower etc) but the decor is old and there was a continuous dampness that I could not put my finger on. Kind of like a humidity in the room. For example my shoes would feel very slightly damp putting them back on.
There was a cheapness to everything that seemed to be trying to sell itself as an upgrade.
For example breakfast was included but it was all cheap pre wrapped, pre packaged, pre processed foods of debatable nutrition. See the pic of breakfast items.
I drove to a diner the second day so I could have eggs and better coffee. The tables and chairs were the portable plastic type.
The staff asked me for a credit card for incidentals and I thought they meant for a mini bar and snacks but it was for damage that you or your pet do to the room.
I didn’t stay in the main building so I can’t say what the quality is like in those rooms but I feel it is completely misleading to have the word ‘Resort’ in the name.
Maybe the main building is nicer?
Had a few bugs in the room & could hear music from the bar downstairs but it was not bad enough to stop me sleeping on the 3rd floor.
I would not stay here again given this experience. I paid about $260 for 2 nights.

Overall quite nice place. Huge, clean and modern room. However after band quit at 9pm DJ in lounge in same building was initially so loud the bass was rattling our balcony windows. Front desk did what she could to help, though not effective. We finally ourselves talked to the DJ and he turned down some more. Still was thumping away past 11pm and going through my earplugs. Unfortunately because of this, will not be staying here again and do not recommend.

Tournament weekend and this place is amazing
If you get building 3 with the balcony looking the lake is an amazing wake up.
Even better if Danni help you.
I forgot my necklace and bracelet and Mireya was so amazing that returned to me.
Amazing people great restaurants a walking distance.

The place is very nice. However, the bar attached to the hotel has a large outdoor patio with a stage.
They played music at night outside and it was so loud it vibrated our room which was across the street.
We could not enjoy our balcony or the pool, let alone relax or sleep in the room.
Watching TV was barely possible as the loud bass meant we had to turn up the volume.
The music went on past 10:00pm at night.
Will not stay here again.

Location was great, service was pretty decent, and rooms were showing their age. Appreciated the location being at the heart of this downtown little community. So cute and fun to visit the restraunts and watch the seaplanes.
Service was good but it took me nearly 30mins to check in. It was about midnight and they were having issues with their credcard machine. The lady checking me in tried 3 times to reboot their system and though was very apologetic, it took a long time to check in. In the end she was not able to get the computer working and had to take take a photo of my card and said she would work on it in the morning.
The rooms were a good size and had decent accommodations but they were definitely a bit worn. The toilet papper holder in the bathroom was about to fall off the wall, some of the caulking ar I u d the shower was very dirty, and there were several scuff marks on multiple walls. I'm not a fan of writting poor reviews, but my hope is the hotel owner may see this and spend a little money to make some small improvements that would certainly help the place appear much nicer. It doesn't need a ton of work, just some minor improvements would be a huge help!

I was at the Doghouse next door watching Randall Crawford featuring Christina Sardone. Did not stay at the Key West resort but from those I know who did, really enjoyed their stay. Where I was on the other hand was a great time, live music, great pours, fun atmosphere.

What a dump. I have no idea what classifies this as a resort. Location is waterfront and the front desk ladies were friendly. The buildings are run-down. Big drywall patches on the walls in the room, dead bugs in the sink, TV didn't work, breakfast was a joke.
Definitely a recommendable Florida adventure. Fun experience. Peaceful at times. You don’t get wet, wear comfortable clothes. Very windy. Staff is very friendly. We got to see turtles, a few gators and different types of birds. There’s a Subway across the street if you need to grab a quick bite or snacks.

We had a wonderful time on the airboat. Our guide was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. We highly recommend Tom and Jerry's. It is an affordable place that is family friendly. We went for the first ride and were not disappointed. If you can get in at 10 am do it! You will see a lot of wildlife including alligators. The later you go the hotter it will be. Although if you can't get in early, later is better than never.

This is definitely a great family activity. Right now they're doing a 25% discount which is even better. They also do military but with the 25% discount it is a much better deal. As a family of all ages we definitely had a great time. It was informative and educational but most of the time you could just enjoy all the wildlife. The tour guide is definitely want you to have a good time. At the end they bring out a baby alligator that you get to take a picture with which was definitely unique. You would never think that this beautiful landscape would be here, it is definitely a hidden gem. I think this is something you need to do once in your life.

I like the vibe here.
Some ppl may say it is a little bit creepy, but I would rather say this place is a hidden gem, not too much commercialized.
When I went there, there was not that many ppl so we felt safer from COVID. Also, captain knew a lot about the history and alligators.
But what I am pretty sure that what reader really wants to know is "are there a lot of alligators?".
When I went there, I saw like 6-8 alligators including the baby alligator too.
I will visit this place without hesitation next time.
Don't forget the tips to the captain! It is what he is working for!

We had a blast.. Our tour guide was great. He knew a lot about the water and the animals and theit was really nice getting to see all the different species of birds and we've seen quite a. Few alligators while we were out there too.

This Airboat ride was quite fun and worth the every penny we spent there. Saw couple of gators and heard a gator roar for the first time ever. Saw wild vultures in 100s and many turtles and birds. The cherry on the cake moment was to hold a baby gator in hand which I couldn’t do coz it was super scary but I would come here again and hold it soon. My aunt did hold the gator which was as one of an experience in her lifetime. The captain was very informative and the ride was amazing in the month of Feb where it wasn’t too hot or too cold. I’m bringing my family here again for this ride for sure. Look at the view with clear sky.

This is a must do for everyone! We saw gators and turtles and birds galore! Air boat was so much fun. The tour guide even stopped a couple times to give us a history lesson. We will definitely be looking up more tours like this, we really enjoyed. Everyone seemed to. Good times all around!
Amy Chad — Google review
We were on family vacation and did this activity which we enjoyed very much. It was a hot day so we didn’t see many gators 🐊 but the experience was cool. We even got to hold a baby gator at the end of the activity. I will definitely return!

While visiting friends we went on Tom and Jerry’s Airboat Rides. It was beyond our expectations!! Captain Brent knew every inch of Lake Panasoffkee. He took us on a true Wildlife Adventure. He was informative with a touch oh humor thrown in. We saw lots of birds, the vultures were amazing. And several alligators. Captain Brent got in close enough so that every passenger could see a gator. We said we would definitely do it again.
Charlene Banet — Google review
We had a blast! Going slow and looking for alligators, birds, turtles, and other critters...then zooming fast on the open water ways.
Got to hold a live baby alligator at the end of the boat ride... thank you Gator Girl! 🐊

This was not something I was expecting to do down in Florida but I highly recommend it! It was such a fun experience getting to ride an airboat and learning about Lake Panasoffkee. There weren't many gators out due to the weather but we still got to see some and got a fun history and wildlife lesson out of it. You also get to hold one of the baby gators at the end of the trip! The love that they have for this place is apparent, definitely worth the money.

This was a very fun and informative adventure. The boat captain/tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun. He took us to some hidden gems to show us some nature that mist people wouldn't see. This was very fun and good for all ages.

Good ride and very entertaining. Our captain (keith, if not worng) was very friendly and kept everyone engaged during the tour. Spotted gators and other wildlife. The boat was comfortable . At the end of the tour, the lady at the office gave us a baby gator to hold and took pictures.

Our family had a great time. The captain was funny and knowledgeable. He found lots of gators, buzzards, turtles on sticks 😂, and other random birds to see. They had a baby gators that we were able to hold and get pictures with at the end. Would definitely recommend!!

We took the kids and grandkids. It was wonderful! Our guide Keith gave a lot of info and it was nice to see all the alligators and birds and turtles. Would have loved to have stayed out a bit longer and also stay still and just enjoy the quiet of the river.
Deborah Faroe — Google review
Capt. Keith Martin made this the best experience I’ve had on an airboat in Florida. Not only did we see plenty of gators up close, we saw tons of native wildlife and some very scenic views. It looked just like “Where The Crawdads Sing.” I highly recommend this tour!

Alexander Springs is a picturesque natural spring located in the Ocala National Forest in Florida. The crystal-clear water of the spring remains at a refreshing 72 degrees Fahrenheit year-round, making it an ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Surrounded by lush vegetation and towering trees, the area offers opportunities for picnicking, hiking along nature trails, and wildlife viewing. Visitors can also enjoy canoeing or kayaking on the spring run that leads to the nearby Alexander Springs Creek.

LOVE LOVE LOVED our swamp tour!! We took two kids and they were very accommodating and friendly. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made it fun! We saw LOTS of gators and other wildlife. We were so excited to hold the alligator!! Josephine was SO sweet and the staff did a great job with her and helping us. We also shopped in their gift store 3 times (we stayed at Idlewild)! I love how they had ice cream treats and a few inexpensive items. Thanks swamp fever!

The Swamp Adventure Tour was awesome! We had parents who were apprehensive about them going. I'm so glad they went. It was safe, and the captain was professional, funny and informative. We were able to touch and hold the alligator as a part of the package. The place also had cabins. We didn't stay there but everything was clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. We have about 15 people in our 6 mixture of kids and adults.

We made reservations in advance. The staff was ready for us when we arrived. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The ride was great. The kids loved it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. We saw lots of gators, birds and turtles. The views were breathtaking and so beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour.

We came to Florida to visit with family and we decided to take this tour. We had a blast! We saw a few alligators but even if we didn't, the tour itself as well and all the fast turns was worth it! Then we were surprised at the end and got to hold Luke the baby alligator! The staff was so knowledgeable and very friendly. Highly recommend Swamp fever airboat adventures! We will definitely be taking another tour when we come back to visit.

Captain Steve and the ladies were knowledgeable, and like their jobs. Steve explained pretty much every plant and animal as the tour went on. He also is prideful of the eagles, as well as the rest of the birds in the area. We saw quite a few gators, from a foot long to eight footers. Great for all ages.
James Hogencamp — Google review
Absolutely AMAZING!!!! We started off checking in at the office and the staff was truly lovely. We then went to the pavillion where Steve brought out and alligator named Josephine and told us all about her. We then joined Captain Kyle for a 1 hour ride through the lake and saw a ton of gators, birds, turtles, and fish. Captain Kyle made multiple stops and told us all about the wild life in the area and answered a ton of our questions. He was so very fun, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. The ride itself was SO much fun, zipping through the lake! I cannot wait to go again!!! Highly highly recommended!!

Great tour this morning! Our guide, Kyle, was terrific. Saw loads of baby gators and mama gator. My husband got to hold a 35lb gator at the end of the tour. So much fun! Highly recommend it. Side note, It was only 70 out this morning and I am grateful I brought a jacket because once the boat was moving fast it was a little chilly!

Captain Sam gave us an amazing tour with some background on gators and the area. Our tour ended with Wyatt an 8 yr old gator whom we all took turns holding. He is a sweet gator. Jess and Heather were great handlers and gave us some a world of info on Wyatt. Heather sorry in Advance for adding the little frog in pictures!!!
Highly recommend choosing Swamp Fever for your Air Boat Adventure. (Back story- my father held same gator 7 yrs ago) we had no idea. (My dad passed 5 yrs ago) so was even more special!!! Thanks again for a memorable day!!!

Had a great trip with Swamp Fever. Drove out from Tampa and it was well worth the effort to see another side of Florida. Beautiful location, educational and entertaining. Would highly recommend the adventure if you are looking for something a little different to do with your family.

I am no airboat expert, but I have done 3 prior with other companies - and this place was hands down the best. Captain Steve was funny, informative, patient (he made sure we all saw what he spotted) and had an eye for finding alligators. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and when we visit again, will make sure we ask for Captain Steve! Thank you again for a memorable trip.

We were headed to Disney and saw the sign for Airboat tours. I googled the name and loved the detailed website so I booked my family (5 yo, 3 yo, 7 month old) a trip for our ride home. A bucket list check off for my boy to ride an air boat! It was an amazing trip. Life jackets and ear protection were provided. We saw birds, fish, and all size alligators. Our captain was very informative and accommodating to our kids. Once we got back we were surprised with the opportunity to hold Wyatt the alligator. This too was very informative and accommodating to all of our gator obsessed kiddos!

This was my second adventure. Recommend it. Price includes cost to hold a healthy 40 pound gator for pictures.
Staff are all very pleasant and informative. Got to see a few smaller gators, lot of turtles and fish in the swamps.
Of course the fun is the speed and turns of the air boat ride through the marsh. It’s about an hour adventure. Worth it.

This is my 2nd time with Swamp Fever, brought family this time and it was just as spectacular as the 1st time! Got to see some gators and babies along with beautiful nature! We even got to hold a 30lb real live gator Josephine. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! I will definately be back!

Loved this tour! All the staff was so friendly even the guy helping to dock the boat. They were well organized, stayed on time and the guide knew so much about the swamp, you could tell he loved the area. Some of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen. We saw alligators , turtles, baby alligators, fish and so many incredible birds. The guide knew each animal and their habits. The office staff was also very friendly .

We went for my daughter and nephews birthday. We had a group of 12 people ranging in age from 70 to 7 including a non verbal special needs child. We had an AMAZING time! Everyone agreed it was better than going to Disney!

Quick trip to visit family down here in Florida, and they suggested we go on an alligator tour... We went to the right place! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and yes, we saw alligators; big ones, medium and babies. Even if we hadn't seen all of the alligators we did, the scenery was worth it.. what a great tour! I wish I could add the video of the swamp… it was “wow!”💚

There are a lot of options for airboats in this area, but this was in my opinion the best. The captain was very knowledgeable and the team was super friendly. I was very impressed. My students had a great time. We saw a few alligators and got to hold one. I will be coming back.

My first time on an airboat and very happy we chose Swamp Fever for this adventure. Saw lots of gators of all sizes from babies to large mom and dad as well as a ton of birds and turtles. Our driver/guide did a great job of pointing out where to look. Finally, the lake itself and the offshoots from it with all the cypress trees is beautiful. One more thing, you get to hold a baby alligator at the end of your trip. Highly recommend

I would definitely do this again. It was so beautiful. Was hoping for more wildlife but it was a little chilly that day so animals were not very active but that's no one's fault. We enjoyed our trip very much. Getting to pet/take pictures with the little gators was awesome too. Everyone was very nice and helpful.

Absolutely amazing experience!!! I have lived in Florida 25+ years and this was first time on an airboat ride. Jessica was super sweet and informative. She was great with my two young boys! Sam, our captain was incredible. He was so thorough, fun and hilarious! The grounds where it is located is soooo peaceful and beautiful. I will definitely be coming back!! And recommending them! Book it- you seriously wont regret it.

This was my first time in Florida or even on an airboat. I had a blast and great time. I also loved holding the younger alligator at the end and seeing younger and older alligators as well. Great live entertainment. Check out the band Hooligans. They were great. Rain or shine, there is always something to do.

The oldest of three squares and it seems like the powers to be don't really have a plan to rehab it. They started to do things them stopped with Katie Belles and the movie theater. Best part of the square is the 3td Saturday car show.
I photograph Uncle Bob's Rock Shop and this is the worst of the three squares to shoot the band in. The Gazebo stage is a poor design way too small, too high and really poor sight angles even if your just watching a band. I've pretty much stopped shooting their shows here. They did some work on the actual square awhile back and they should have revamped/enlarged the stage.

Absolutely wonderful spot to walk around and enjoy what the area has to offer. When I visited, they were getting ready to celebrate St Patrick's day. It was so much fun. For Mother's Day, my family went on the river tour and had a blast with Captain Bob. He was funny and entertaining while also giving us the history of the area and information about the wildlife. We saw a baby manatee, lots of varieties of birds, and even an alligator! Highly recommended.

The four of us really enjoyed the River Tour today. Tina was very helpful making the reservations and Captain Bob could not have been nicer. The Captain narrated as he piloted the boat. He was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to.

My husband, son and I took my father on this tour for Father’s Day. It is difficult for my dad to get around, so I called and discussed his mobility issues with Tina before booking the trip. Had a blast...we saw so many different kinds of birds and turtles. Saw gators of different ages. We even saw a manatee come up from the water. Rob was a great captain!
Amazing place. We really enjoyed it. Adults are $13. Worth every penny! We took a tram ride from the, I guess back. That alone was fun. Lol.
Everybody we encountered was so friendly and helpful. Nice gift shop. A few stands with snacks and drinks.
We saw lots of manatees and babies! So many different birds. A black bear, a hippo, fox, snakes, so many fish!
It's not a huge place. We spent a little over an hour there. Definitely could have stretched it longer. Easy walk. A few places with stairs (and ramps). But to get down to the underwater viewing, only stairs. About 11 or 12. Multiple bathrooms.
Just a relaxing day, watching animals. You can't feed any of them. But, there are binoculars around, so bring quarters.

Up close and personal with some of Florida most unique animals. So many wonderful birds, fish, cougars, and even a hippo. Yhey also have a Florida black bear. Easy walk with lots of stopping to view the animals. I feel kids of all ages would find this place exciting.

We'd seen several reviews about this place and intended to make it part of our trip. On a tour, someone almost talked us out of it, but I'm so glad we went.
First, we love that many of the animals there have been rescued and we got to read about their journey.
Second, I appreciated the fact that they had accessible features, including ramps, elevators, lifts into the train, viewing cutouts to see the animals, etc.
Third, the staff were very friendly, helpful and informative.
Finally, we appreciate their efforts in saving these amazing animals!!

If you are visiting crystal river then this place is a must for families and anyone that loves animals. They have the famous hippo "Lou" who if you're lucky might see bathing in the water, he is huge ❤️. The whole facility is well maintained and clean and the walkways are paved and perfect for strollers. There are plenty of shaded rest spots to take a break from walking. There is a cafeteria with burgers, fried and ice cream and also a small gift shop to pick up your souvenirs.

Great place to take the kids and see some animals. The park entrance is 13$ por person adult and 5$ kids under 11 years old. I really had a great day with my family there.

There are 2 separate visiting centers, one right off the main road which has a nice gift shop and restaurant and you can ride boat or tram from the first location. The second visitor center is closer to the wildlife area and water. Both areas are beautiful and have plenty of parking. The park closes at 5:30pm. Tram runs every 15 minutes. Definitely recommend checking this park out.

Hidden gem! We are so glad we got lost and went into the visitors center. They recommended this place and so glad we didn't skip it! Definitely a place everyone should go see! If you do not get a chance to see manatees out in the wild..u will at this place and capture some great pic! They have things laid out very well. The hippo gave us an awesome show and we got to see the panther take down a bird...dont worry the bird survived and flew away even after 3 attacks!
I would not skip this place at all!! Perfect for any age. Lines to get tickets are long but super quick so do not get discouraged!

This place is amazing. I really liked the way it is done. You get to know why they keep the wild animals in the park, how they were injured or raised in ZOOs or within private ownership. And importantly, how can you help to protect the species in the wild. And then you can see manatees in the river Homosassa, being protected in their natural habitat and looked after, cured and researched when it is needed . Perfect place and very inspirational. Thank you!

We've been here many times and always take new guests. When we visit the west coast. The price is reasonable. There's a very tiny gift shop which has less than it used to, they do have a small amount of food for purchasing, there is some indoor and outdoor tables for use, there are nice clean bathrooms.
I must say though that there seem to be less animals than in the past. There were only three alligators left when there used to be a whole lot of them before, but I understand from the really nice volunteer that was answering my questions that they have gotten old and many have passed away. I'm also a little bit disappointed that the aviary which housed so many beautiful birds that would just fly around and you can go and then some would land on you, that is not even close to being done let alone look like it was under active construction. Construction. The one thing I would say that they could also improve on is having a guy go around after opening and using a gas leaf blower for almost the entire hour. While we were there was annoying and distracting and kind of took away from the beautiful ambiance of the place. But it is a place we would go back and visit again and it's a great place for kids also.
If you get there early, you can park right across the street from the entrance. If not, you have to park out on the remote lot way out on the main road but they do have shuttles that will drop you off right at the entrance.

This place is amazing! A lot of history here and they have done a good job preserving it. You have to check out the fishbowl and manatees. Lu the hippo is always a favorite to visit. Lots of different species to see and things to explore. Take your time and enjoy!

Great place for family and to bring your kids to see wildlife. Very good size and the lay out is nice. Like being on a nature walk.

Absolutely worth the stop!
We took the pontoon over, and the tram back - and highly recommend others do too. Our boat guide, Nick, was very informative.
Hippo, manatees, panther, bobcat, eagle, osprey, what more can you ask for.
The underwater observatory was cool and will be even cooler when they replace the glass.
5 🌟 all around.

With two locations to park at one being the main entrance and the other on the main road. This park offer the most unique and diverse experience. The park is mostly covered and has a manatee Rehabilitation Center there. There is also a platform where you can go underwater to see manatees. The park also features a 40 something year old hippopotamus. There is a Crystal Spring in the park that comes up above the manatee platform. There are two sides to the park the manatee and the water side and the zoo side. You go right to the zoo and left to the manatee platform.

Beautiful place. Boat worth the 3$ one way. The tram is free or you can walk the 3/4 mile to the site from tbe welcome center. It takes about 3 hours to see it all if you take your time. Walking is easy and wheelchair accessible. Very clean.

2 adults in our 40s and we loved this place. Came in January and no one was there. Def do the boat ride. Enjoyed seeing and learning about the rich history of old time Florida-and catching a glimpse into the past Today. Saw manatees around the observation deck. Then eat at Skinny Tortuga afterwards (great local food truck).

While it is pretty at times, the park needs some help. It was not worth the price to us. You can easily park at I believe the west entrance and just walk into the area with the animal part. You don't have to go to the visitor center and take the boat or the tram. The boat only takes you through a little creek. The animals have small enclosures and there is not many to see. It was honestly kinda sad. Two manatees in the sick tank area was it. If you go make sure your going late November if you want a better chance at the manatee. We didn't even see the four manatees that live year round in the park. Reptile room is one small room with one fat cotton mouth and about 5 other enclosures. Fishbowl is going to undergo renovations it looks like. Kennels for your dog at the visitor center was a major plus. If you need to get out of the house with the kids this would probably keep them entertained. Easy to walk with strollers. Snack areas and bathrooms at both entrances.

A hidden gem. The atmosphere was homey and the various animals were interesting to see some being rehabilitated to be released back into the wild. The resident 60 year old hippo was totally unexpected.

Many tourists . Definitely needs to be upgraded but absolutely worth the visit. A must see if you are in the area. Many animals . Love Lu 🦛♥️ & the Manatee's & Bear etc. Only barely discusses the early Indians but not specific enough about who what Native Americans were there initially.
The Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing is a long-standing establishment that displays an extensive collection of vintage hot rods and drag racing cars. It is an awe-inspiring place, especially for car enthusiasts who appreciate high-quality exhibits. Although the focus is on drag racing, visitors can enjoy seeing classic cars and other interesting displays. The friendly staff are happy to chat and provide helpful information during the visit. Additionally, there are senior discounts available for those who qualify.
Wonderful place! Beautiful cars. It was set up nicely. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a very informative visit. It was all great. However the antique cars were my favorite! Prepare to spend some time there!

Five stars for everyone who like auto museums. Three stars for the people who don't. The museum consists of two very large buildings. The first building is dedicated to drag racing and the second is an auto museum. I consider "Big Daddy" Don Garrity as of of the founders of drag racing. The museum does an outstanding job of presenting the evolution of drag racing. One hour for a normal visit, but three hours is this is an area you really like. Outstanding signage on vehicles and engines.

My wife and I moved to an area near the museum in 2022. Once settled I took some time to visit and was overwhelmed by the sheer number of cars at this museum. Although I am a fan of drag racing I am also a huge fan of antiques and classics, so the antique museum became a quick favorite. I liked the museum so much I applied for a position and was hired, first as a volunteer,
then as a part-time employee. Being able to work at the museum and meet "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, along with some very interesting visitors, was an experience I will cherish forever. I highly recommend stopping by for a visit if you are in the area. You will not regret it!

This place is amazing love it I believe I knew it existed but we move out of Florida before I got the opportunity to go in. Now finally we got to go and then I loved it. I like how they have all the history and all the information about the different drivers and cars but all that stuff it is pretty cool and then go in there and live that experience. Then going to the other car museum the antique is pretty nice as well it was it was quite an experience I recommended 100%.

The history of drag racing from start and the ups and downs of drag racing. Engine room is cool to see different kinds he used. All different types of drag cars. Then the classic cars museum is incredible of all the old cars and model cars. I would say give yourself 3hrs to see both museum. Then check out the outside walk of fame of drag racing. Kids will enjoy this museum.

Overwhelming ! Too much to take it all in for one day even if you’re not into drag racing because the other building has an amazing number of restored automobiles from the 1900’s – 1930s up to the present. One ticket covers it all. We took about 2 hours to walk through slowly without watching all the videos. This place has all the trophies, newspaper articles, magazine covers, framed photographs, helmets…even entire room for engines! Really a great stop.

I finally was able to visit Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing. I have visited quite a few museums lately, with this one not being the typical museum. It's not even your typical car museum. In this case, the whole reason for this museum is Drag Racing. I must say mission accomplished.
I love the fact that Don's idea of a museum is the correct way. Yes a lot of it does pertain to Mr. Garlits and his career in Drag Racing. But soooooo much is not about Don, but instead many other personalities associated with Drag Racing. There are many cars and items throughout decades of the sport.
The Museum itself has three large rooms holding many cars, engines and many other items. I enjoyed taking a break and sitting on a bench to watch a video. You can spend a lot of time here if you really look and read. There were so many cars, people and event subjects that I remember over the years. But just as important were the many of the same that I didn't remember and learned about.
My only regret is that my ankle was much less enthusiastic than my brain, about the amount of time that I could spend walking around and standing enjoying the exhibits. Just a great place and better than I was expecting. Well done to Don and the folks that maintain this jewel.
There of course is a gift shop where you can purchase things. The rest rooms are in the gift shop if folks need to visit. There is a discount off the price for things like being over 60, or a veteran and such. So you may be able to save a few dollars as well. The price also includes admission for a second car museum on the property. That museum is more of the car museum most folks would picture when mentioning car museums. It's also very nice. I'm sure that I'll be back in the future. There was so much enjoyment to be had if you enjoy motorsports and especially drag racing. Thank you Mr. Garlits for building such a place for folks like myself.

Fantastic museum for drag racing history buffs! Plan to arrive no later than 2-3 in the PM since the doors close at 5. You will need at LEAST 2 hours to go thru the 2 buildings. I recommend more time if you really want to stop, look, and read the exhibit descriptions and look closely at items on display. Nothing short of an awesome experience. Cool stuff in the Gift Shop as well!!
Gypsy Gold Horse Farm is a must-visit destination when in Ocala. The farm houses beautiful horses, as well as goats, donkeys, and birds. The staff is informative about the breed and interact with the animals. Dennis, the owner, currently gives tours which provide historical context and evoke positive emotions. The cost per person is minimal for what visitors get to experience at the farm.
If you are planning a trip to Ocala, Gypsy Gold Horse Farm is a Must See! Dennis, the owner is turning 73 and winding down. He currently gives the tour and the story behind this place is historical, memorable and I can muster the words to say positively emotional. The animals are beautiful. You can see the staff interact with them and care for them. The cost per person is nothing for what you get for. Go Now while Dennis is still hosting the tour!

My husband and I visited Gypsy Gold Horse Farm last Saturday. This was, by far, the best visit of its type I have ever experienced. I knew about Gypsy Vanners thanks to a video some years ago and was enchanted by them. Dennis Thompson brings their history to the forefront and, additionally, presents a wonderful insight into the people who first developed the beginnings of this breed and who are, often, so misunderstood. Dennis presents history well and is incredibly personable and kind. When you leave, you feel you have a new friend.
Whether you are just looking for a new and unusual highlight to a vacation, or are interested in becoming more involved at some level, Gypsy Gold is the place to go.
We will be returning as often as we can. Dennis has some beautiful and wonderful plans for the future that are best described by him. Go. You will not regret it. You’ll get to meet, up close, some of the finest equine specimens on the planet. Take carrots!

Gypsy Gold Horse Farm is a beautiful property with a quite interesting history. The owner, Dennis, told everyone about the beginnings of the Gypsy Vanner breed including a great historical overview of the gypsy families that he spent time with to learn more about their culture. Dennis is an excellent speaker who kept us engaged with lively and humorous stories of his own personal life in the equine industry including the colorful cast of characters he's met along the way. Afterwords he took us on a guided tour of the farm to meet his menagerie of interesting and beautiful animals. The two hours we spent at Gypsy Gold Horse Farm was an enlightening and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We did the 45 minute tour and enjoyed it. Brief introduction from the owner, Dennis, about the history of the horses and the ranch was interesting. Sure, lectures are not for everyone but we wanted to know the history of the breed and the farm so we found it informative. The walking tour that followed did not disappoint. The grounds are beautiful, lots of large oaks and green pastures. The horses are beautiful, friendly and came up to our group. We were are able to get up close to touch and rub them and take photos. The volunteer who gave the tour was excellent. They are very passionate and it shows. We would definitely visit again when beck in the area.

Far exceeded my expectations! I was captivated by the warm and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the owners' genuine love for their Gypsy Vanner horses, as well as all of the other animals on the farm. Every corner of the farm resonates with the passion and dedication of the owners, making it a unique and memorable experience. You can feel the love and care that goes into every aspect of this haven for both horses and visitors. It is a truly special place where the owners' vibrant life and and connection with the horses shine through in every detail. I also love that they are now sharing this experience with the local schools, educating the children and teaching compassion. I highly recommend a visit to Gypsy Gold Farm :)

My family and I visited today. Dennis and Erin were wonderful. It was a unique experience, and my family felt lucky to hear Dennis' story first hand. His passion for these stunning creatures, his knowledge, and story are a wonder to witness and hear. Please ignore the people saying the over hour talk wasn't worth it. It was worth every minute, and made me teary eyed many times! We feel blessed to have met Dennis and Erin. Dennis and Erin took us on the tour of the property, where we interacted with so many of the horses. Also, Dennis' vision for the future of the Gypsy Gold Farm is just beautiful. If you love horses and animals, then you will love visiting this special place.

I brought my daughter here while she was visiting and we both left like we had just watched a movie. The history of this farm, the horses, the people (present & past) so amazing. Dennis is the kind of person you could sit and hear stories of his life experiences for hours. Taylor was also exceptional in speaking with everyone and sharing knowledge with us regarding the farm, and the animals as well.
I plan to go again with other family members as I also believe they will love the experience just as much as we did.
Three Sisters Springs wildlife refuge is a popular destination during winter for viewing manatees from the boardwalk due to its clear water. Although the park's entrance fee may seem expensive, visitors can capture beautiful photos and witness these creatures up close. It's important to pay attention as manatees blend in with the rocks.
Amazing little sanctuary. The waters are warm and crystal clear. I see why the manatees flock here. The walk around the springs is amazing with wooden walkways. The park guides are friendly and full of information. Great place to take a nice stroll.
The real experience is to enter the springs through the river entrance. The kayak paddle from our B&B only took a short time. Plenty of wildlife and amazing vegetation along the paddle. Once you arrive at entrance you have a designated area to land your kayaks and then you swim into the spring area.

This spot was absolutely amazing! A hidden paradise waiting to be found. Lucky for me, I have my own kayaks but you can rent some nearby. I launched mine from Pete's Marina. (Must pay to park) I highly suggest kayaking to this spot. Once there, you can swim or snorkel in the springs like I did. So amazing. Water was cool but not freezing. It was crystal clear. Fish swimming around of all sizes. I was even able to swim down to the bottom of the spring and watch some of the water come out of the ground. Such an amazing experience and beautiful. I felt so rejuvenated after my swim in there.

This is such a beautiful place to kayak and snorkel. You can't get on the rocks or the land but you can jump out of your kayak and snorkel around. We then used a rock that was out in the water to hoist ourselves back into our kayaks. We also kayaked around out in the river and saw manatees out there. Definitely would like to come back and swim in this area again in the future after they open back up.
Cheryll Heimbecker — Google review
Excellent, excellent, excellent! In January and February, this is the place to see manatees! In most places, you are so far from the manatees that all you see is bumps. Here, they can be just a few feet away (if you are lucky).
The boardwalk goes all the way around the hot springs and part of the inner coastal where they hang out.
Sandra Verboom — Google review
Park seemed pricey to get in especially after we just finished swimming with the manatees! But, it was definitely worth it to see a different side. Great place to capture beautiful pictures and get to see the manatees up top!
Hint hint...if u don't like to walk...go left not right from the ticket booth...this will get you to the boardwalk quicker! Manatees blend in with the rocks so pay attention. There is no parking here and need to park at the shopping center. This is not where u catch the trolley either...so make sure u are at the right location for what u want to do!

Kayaked in (October) to see the springs and look for wildlife. Manatee Lou was surrounded by snorkelers. Amazing to see a manatee up close, but it seemed like they just wanted to get away from all the people. Also spotted fish, birds, and a ray. Glad we chose to visit the springs via kayak as it wouldn't have been as memorable via the boardwalk, plus it was free to access via water compared to the $12.50 per person fee the refugee concessioner charges.

This is a very interesting place. Upside...great volunteers that care deeply for these majestic mammals. They are friendly, approachable and full of helpful information about the area, animals and conservation. Being able to view these precious animals in their natural habits was very memorable.
Downside....lots of snorkelers and kayakers took away from the full peacefulness of the moment.....but did offer a bit of entertainment of thier own.

We have mixed feelings about this. We loved the manatees, the springs the clear water. The boardwalk around it is nice and clean, I believe the refuge area are trying to do a good thing. We would love to be able to interact with the manatees but we don't. It's for their own good. We understand. I'm guessing the park people are volunteers. A little unorganized it the entrance. Maybe having a bad day,but no problems. Beautiful area.
The BAD. the commercialization is very sad, there were over 100 swimmers in the springs with these manatees. Commercial pontoon boats lined up in the canal dropping off and picking up swimmers. It's disappointing. Such a beautiful natural area being corrupted like this is sad. I'm glad the refuge is mostly protected, but I wish they would make it off limits to swimmers and companies doing this.

We boated here from Pete’s Pier which was challenging in the wind. We saw a few manatee on our way over and loved the springs! There’s a lot of monitoring of the space and it was pretty crowded. Today there was only one manatee there so we must’ve just missed the season (today is April 4th and the season typically ends around 3.31). Either way: clean, gorgeous and magical!

Overall the park itself and the environment is pretty delightful, with access to hiking trails, views of the spring etc. Volunteers were present to guide which was great. We saw on manatee which was great too.
The downside was—you had to park 1mile farther in the city hall and use their shuttle service/or walk to reach the springs. Also the entry fee was on the higher side (20$ per adult). And, there was no access to waters/swimmimg for that price while if you could pay extra for boating, kayaking and swimming through boating companies nearby, wierd for a state owned park?
Overall, I would rather go to another spring where we can swim.

This is a beautiful refuge and worth the cost to visit. If you have a National Park Pass, you will get a discount. We paid a total of $25.00 for the 2 of us. We went to the City Hall in Crystal Springs and behind the building is where you buy your tickets and can take a shuttle or bus to the refuge. We visited in February and you cannot swim in the Three Sisters Springs. However, you can see MANY manatees in the springs, which is crystal clear and a beautiful blue color. There is a boardwalk around the springs with viewpoints. There are also short hiking trails. We saw many manatees in the canals around the springs as well. The water is not as blue and clear in the canals, however.
Cynthia Mortensen — Google review
Beautiful crystal clear springs. If you want to see manatees you have to go when the temperature in the Gulf is below 68°, they go in the springs looking for warmer waters. It was too hot this day si I didn't see any manatees. There guides along the boardwalk that share their knowledge with you. Very interesting
Ileana Garcia — Google review
This park is definitely a must to go to in the winter when the manatees huddle to keep warm. Go in the morning, so you see lots of them. It really isn’t a huge park so it’s not an all day adventure. The boardwalk is the main attraction to see the manatees. They do have several other trails to walk. Take your National park pass if you have it to get a discount.
A Relloka — Google review
Worth the $20. I wanted to see manatees and this is the perfect place to see them. Nice walking trails and friendly, informative guides as well. Picnic area and restrooms with a shuttle for those who don't want to walk.
You can also pay to snorkle, kayak or do a little boat tour. I think snorkeling would be worth it but not kayaking nor boat ride. Too crowded and too small of an area. You can see manatees better from the walking trails. Look at the pictures. You cannot come into roped off areas. Manatees are mostly in the roped off areas.
Jennifer Kitterman — Google review
If you look carefully while riding across the bridge, you might be able to spot manatees swimming through crystal clear water under the bridge. We parked the car, walked back, and were blessed to see a mother and baby gliding along. ☺️ They were on their way to join a whole community farther along, up near the shores of the Ellie Schiller State Wildlife Park. What a very special experience!!

Absolutely beautiful. Kayak in and swim in the crystal clear water. Its a little cold but you get used to it. Even swam with a manatee. Definitely recommend!

The springs are well cared for. There is a nice new bathroom and the volunteer guides were very knowledgeable. The visitors center is just outside the front gate in a strip mall, so definitely a good choice to park. We used the closest city parking a walk away but should have just parked at the center. The shuttle was useful but the walk is very nice too. There were still quite a few tourists, but not as bad as I imagine the springs near Orlando. Overall it was an underwhelming experience for Floridians. The number of manatees were more than we usually see but not by alot. The high tide advice was good, they do travel in and out more at that time.
The town is adorable and clearly catering to tourists from the North. The restaurants were crowded even after lunch time. If you are driving from a short distance away it would be worth it. We drove from the other side of the State and it may not be worth that kind of drive unless you just enjoy a day trip anyway. A bit costly per person for an entrance fee, when you can’t swim and only observe.
Dagney Stone — Google review
We had scheduled a boat trip to see the manatees, but came here first. In walking around the boardwalk and seeing so many, we canceled our boat trip. This preserve is beautiful. I love that the waters are roped off completely to keep people out of the waters to leave the manatees alone. It was really exciting to see some young calfs in there too.

Took a manatee snorkel tour with one of the many tour operators in the area. Went with Fun 2 Dive on March 2- was able to swim into the three sisters springs which is normally closed off. On this day, it was open. There were two female manatees resting near the spring. Overall great experience.

Beautiful Springs and wildlife trail around the lake. The boardwalk around the Springs gives you a wonderful view of the Manatees. Winter is the time to see them gathering in the warm Springs that stay 72 degrees year round.

Three Sisters Springs is a manatee wonderland! It's truly incredible – the only place where you can witness such a gathering of these gentle giants in one spot. The volunteers are passionate and knowledgeable, ready to answer any manatee-related questions.
With about six viewing points, the experience is breathtaking as you observe hundreds of manatees. We visited in December and caught the perfect time to see them. The trail offers a super easy walk, but if you prefer, there's a convenient shuttle option.
While the entrance fee is $20 per person, it's a small price to pay for the privilege of supporting these magnificent creatures. The money goes towards the well-being of the manatees, making the visit not only awe-inspiring but also a meaningful contribution to their conservation. 🌊🌿🐋💙

This is our second trip here and there is honestly not a bad thing to say about the place. Some lots are obviously better than others and we have a list of preferred lots now but aside from that this place is AMAZING. The staff is friendly, helpful and kind. Seriously they deliver your fire wood to your spot (we tip but it’s not required and the 3 for $20 is impossible to beat). All of our campsite neighbors have been kind and respectful. There are no obnoxious trucks or music, the lots are all clean and well maintained. We anticipate being here once a month because of how lively everything has truly been.

The best so far on our winter vacation. Pleasant, efficient, and helpful personnel. The site was roomy, private and had all the amenities. The springs were magnificent. Loved it❤️

The springs is beautiful! Temperature is 72 degrees year round! They have a store and grills for a cook out! If your camping it also gives you access to the fishing and boat launch.

Was about 14 dollars per person for access. Little expense for large families, but park rangers made sure place was cleaned up and monitored. Water is amazingly clean and full of fish and crab. Great place to snorkel. Two access points to water and walled swimming area all around. Must go in water with little ones.

One of my favorites! They have primitive and electric sites with a boat ramp into Lake George, for campers. It's a short walk to the spring. There are two shops where you can get food, floats, firewood and ice. Close boat or jet ski ride to Silver Glen. Loved the scenery and the animals (we've seen gators, deer and a bear. We've been here 4 times this year and haven't seen the monkeys...yet. You're in the forest so it's beautiful. The staff are friendly and the bathroom has showers and is clean

We have been going to Salt Springs for more than a decade. Things have change alot from being wood around area to concrete. The spring and the area are always clean, they manage it very well. A lot of room to swim as long as it is not very crowded, the srping gets very busy on some holiday like, Memorial, 4th of July, Labor Day and Summer time! Tons of picnic area, it has bathroom and changing rooms. You can do a day trip or camping (primitive or electric camp site). We used to remember paying per vehicle/day to swim now it's $12/person/day to swim in the spring. Come early to get you a good spot in the spring area. Bring your own food and drinks (no alcohol). It opens at 8am, open all year round, unless weather changes.

My niece has this experience this weekend..
This has been THE WORST camping experience we have ever had. We came in for 6/8/22-6/12/22. Our grown children came in Thursday morning with their boat and paid $27 and told to park in the over flow lot that was PACKED FULL. Then our kids and us were given a $25 ticket for parking on the grass by the dumpsters and back fence line because of their FULL lot. We have been TARGETED AND HARRASSED all weekend by their staff. You are allowed 2 vehicles per site but there is NOT SUFFICIENT room to park. Our children's vehicle has 2 tires on the grass and have just been told to move AGAIN after they have been there since Thursday morning in the same spot. We are the black Ford and White Doge side by side in fron of the camper. There is another White Dodge and a Red Doge directly across from us that have tires on the grass as well and have NOT been asked to move. We will NEVER patronize this place again and hopefully they realize how rude they have been to us.

Loved camping there. The spring was beautiful & we enjoyed swimming. Camp site could have been mowed; the grass was very high. We would go back.

Beautiful clean park with new asphalt sites and roads. Sites are mostly level and spacious. Full hook ups and on site bathrooms. There are dog receptacles all around the park. Big rig friendly with easy in and easy out. Picnic tables and fire ring. Natural spring for swimming is within walking distance and is wonderful. Dollar General is near park. This is a hidden gem with soo much to offer. We will definitely return !!

Very nice campground and very quiet. If your looking for a quiet place to hang out at your campsite this place is for you. Be prepared for lots n lots of rules. If you break anyone of them your going to get a talking to. Not much to do in the area.
Scott Snuverink — Google review
The spring was so beautiful, and the property was very well kept, including campsites and rest rooms. The check-in process was smooth but could have been a bit more welcoming. Felt a bit like a lecture about all the rules. With that being said, all the maintenance staff and camp hosts were very friendly. We also liked the pet friendliness and the beauty around us. Would recommend.
Rita Mitchell — Google review
I love the campground but the spring no longer has its fish and crabs. It used to be a great place to snorkel.
Tammy Carulli — Google review
We camped here for the first time this year. Very clean and quiet campground in the full hookup area. Love the layout of the fire ring and grills to the cement pads. Well thought out. Never worried about anything from fire heading towards our camper. The primitive camping area the roads were very rough. No play equipment for children if that is something you look for.. We will come back in the future.

Nice springs for swimming, kayaking, with manatees in the winter. Plenty of jumping fish and wildlife. Good camping but guard against insects depending on the season.

Second time around so I'm adding a few additional notes. Thanks to Bob for the great check in experience! I've added a kayak to my camping equipment, unfortunately Salt Springs doesn't have a kayak launch site on premises. I did find and hike the one trail; which is a great Florida Birding trail titled "Bear Swamp Trail". It's a loop that takes a hiker on a 1.5 mile journey through various environments. The swamp section has an elevated walkway and overall the trail didn't seem to used a great deal. While I didn't encounter many birds I did see some interesting wildlife. I've added pictures to highlight those forest creatures. During our three day visit a hawk came by our campsite each day. That was very special and another reason to return. I would recommend Salt Springs to anyone looking for an amazing adventure!
This is an interesting camping experience! The grounds are very open and well manicured. All sites have water, electric, and sewer hookups. However, due to the location of the hookups you might need an extension for you sewer line or compromise the travel trailer position. The springs are amazing! Easy entry for swimming or snorkeling highlights this unique setting. The staff and camp hosts are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Silver Springs State Park is a beautiful place to visit, with crystal clear water and interesting wildlife. There are trails and a museum, as well as rental cabins and canoes for those who want to explore the park on their own.
Beautiful and only $2 entry fee. Wish CA would provide it's residents such value.
Open and not crowded. Great to paddle around or take a hike. Clean restrooms and great staff. Didn't see a manatee but we were a little late.

Silver springs is absolutely beautiful. Went there for the first time for our 6 year anniversary. The glass bottom tour was amazing. It was so cool seeing all the different springs like that. The river is so crystal clear it's amazing. Definitely recommend to any first timers. It was very worth it and a truly unique experience. Definitely plan on going back when it's cooler to kayak!

What a fantastic place to just forget about your troubles. We rented kayaks for two hours and started at 9am. I recommend this time or earlier if you don't like crowds or are new to kayaking. We also did the boat tour, which was awesome, and our captain was very friendly. Don't forget to tip them. 😉 They are going through some renovations which are expected to be completed in the fall so no gift shops or Cafe. You will not be disappointed going here.

Our kayak trip was amazing! We did the 2 hour float. The water is crystal clear, and pictures do not do it justice. The staff was super friendly and well organized. We showed up a little early for our reservations, and they let us go a little early. The clear kayaks we reserved were out for repairs unfortunately. They refunded us the difference and apologized for them not being available. We still had a ton of fun! Would highly recommend this trip!

Definitely the glass bottom tour was worth it. We went during December Christmas break and there were plenty pf manatees . We could spot a number of them when they sneak peek above the water. As they were swimming and having their breakfast under water , the visibility was low around them so it was hard to spot them through glass bottom but our captain of the boat was so sweet that he tried to get us a glimpse of it under water and we did, a big one swam just under the glass bottom. It was a great sight. We did see a alligator basking in the florida sunshine ☀️ and number of beautiful fishes. It was so crystal clear and there were several springs which we toured above. It was overall a great experience. Definitely a must do on a clear sunny day. One can also take a glass kayak/canoe and spend their own sweet time in these waters.

The springs are beautiful. We’ve gone paddle boarding here many times, renting and bringing our own. The loop is easy and can be made in less than an hour, if you’re in a hurry. The long trip down the river is so fun and the gators, monkeys and all the fish and birds make the paddle so fun. This is definitely something worth doing a few times.

Did this trip last year with 2 others and had a blast. Decided to come again with 5 others. Had an absolutely wonderful experience both times.
There was a short wait to check in and pay and then put the kayaks in the water, but it wasn't too bad. The River Patrol was very helpful with information and directions.
Highly recommend anybody to come and experience this. If you don't have your own kayak, you can rent them.
Looking forward to next year!

Found this beauty while exploring the area on a business trip to Ocala. The most beautiful blueish green water. They have clearly defined trails and a beautiful boardwalk area that loops you through the forest. Didn’t get to take the boat tour but it looked awesome with the clear see through bottoms! Lots of parking, well maintained restrooms, and reasonably priced to enter! A must see if you are in the area!

Really nice outdoor activity to do with family! We were hoping to see a manatee but we didn't, unfortunately! Maybe next time. We brought our dogs, and they loved sniffing around. Lots of new wildlife to see and hear. Wish we had more time to kayak. Such beautiful water here! The boats looked fun, but we didn't go on a tour. The front lady was so nice and spoiled our dogs with loves and dog bones!

An extensive and beautiful natural park with a couple of shops/restaurants and one can also explore it by boat/kayak/canoe. The boardwalk encompassing a rich forest area has several shaded spots. For me the highlight was watching the wildlife in crystal clear water and seeing a pretty good sized gator from a safe but close distance. Parking is not a problem, lots of free spaces. Well worth returning to.

We live pretty close to Silver Springs and we try to go every morning for our walk. The staff are great every question you have they have an answer. The grounds are well maintained and very clean. If you come at the right time you will see the monkeys, once you spot the first one it's easy to find the others. You will also see all kinds of wildlife alligators, big fish etc... I could go on and on. We see something different every time we go and that's 4 or 5 times a week. It's a great place to come just to have coffee and enjoy the nature.

You can see all the kind of animal birds, monkeys mates and if you already pay for the campground, you don’t need to pay for the park And also if you don’t want to go today park you can just bring your own kayak and put in the water and start the trail. It’s very beautiful place quiet and it was not out of people. The water temperature is 72 but you cannot go inside the water in this place, very recommend! Enjoy your trip

We love Silver Springs. It is amazing to kayak. You see birds, manatees, alligators, turtle, fish, sunken ships and several springs not just Silver Springs. We have not been on the glass bottom boats but have overheard the boat captains and the seem quite knowledgeable. It is $5/kayak to launch your own kayak but parking is free. We have been here in December and saw several manatees and in April and saw the birds in their estuary, amazing both time frames though I think I'm my opinion the Spring was a little better because of all the birds. However, I don't think you can go wrong any time of year.

The shuttle took us back to the entrance. We saw manatees and monkeys!! Then we hiked for the blue trail and yellow trails. It took us about 1:15h but wasn’t very scenic. There’s not a lot of shade so keep it in mind. We would definitely go back! Beautiful.

We went here for a stop going back to Michigan. It was well worth it.
I believe it’s $2 to walk around d
$15 each for boat ride.
We went in March and we were told the Manitees were all gone.
We saw a mother and baby!
Several alligators.
All 4 springs. He gives all the history on.

OMG. Rainbow River, even in late November, can’t be topped for swimming, tubing, kayaking, diving, canoeing and even fishing. The beauty is astounding - old Florida at its very best (check out my (if I do say so myself) A-ma-zing pictures! This River is spring-fed which means it is crystal clear. Like many of these type rivers in Florida, there are multiple springs that provide millions of gallons of pristine water each year. Divers come from near and far due to some of the boils being large enough to enter, the largest being the ‘K-hole’. The public park across from the K-hole is very nice. Modern and well, equipped, parking and restrooms are free and the grounds are very well-kept
Bottom line? If you want to swoon over the Zen beauty of nature DO NOT WAIT! Head over to Rainbow River in Dunnellon, FL.

Hard to beat the beauty of the Rainbow River with its crystal clear water and beautiful scenery. We launched kayaks at KP Hole and kayaked to the state park and back. It was a beautiful experience! We went down a tributary and enjoyed a very scenic and private time. Highly recommend kayaking the Rainbow River, you will be glad you did!!!

Magnificence! Beautiful scenery, water, wildlife all over! A great place to swim, kayak, explore or just sit beside and relax! The water was warm and crystal clear, and we all had an amazing day on the river!

📍Perfect spot for swimming
Rainbow river is a beautiful spot to go and spend the day with your family. There is an area designated for swimming, perfect for kids and adults. There is a kayak rental and you go around the river.
There is also a space for picnics and a small food stand.

Rainbow River in December was incredible! The park is clean and the park rangers are very knowledgeable. You can walk trails go swimming. You can rent kayaks and enjoy a paddle on a crystal clear river. Lots of walking will take you to some breath taking locations. Really had a fun and enjoyable time and will definitely be returning! A special thank you to everyone who keeps this landmark going.
Now parking is a little difficult to locate so I’ll save you the trouble.

Beautiful crystal clear river to kayak. You can launch from kp hole for $7 and go left up to the headsprings where it's stunningly beautiful. If you're feeling frisky, you can launch for free from blue run in Dunnellon and paddle upstream about 5 miles. It gets packed on weekends as the morning progresses, and people tend to clog up the ramp by standing around and or swimming.
Have seen a few alligators on the banks of the river, but only one ever actually in the water swimming.

We did drift diving for the PADI open water certification and saw plenty of animals. We saw turtles (soft shell and painted), fish (bass, etc), otters, and tons of birds. The water was clear and it was a really calm dive, perfect for us newbies.

It's a very beautiful place. There's tons of free parking available and the entrance only costs $1 per person during the summer. We went kayaking on the river. The water was crystal clear and very refreshing. On the trip we saw lots of fish, birds and turtles.
There's also a little designated area to swim but you aren't able to stand there in the water because it's so deep.
Definitely recommend bringing a noodle if you just want to swim in this pool! You also swim in the river while on your kayaking trip which was so refreshing 😊

Kayaking on the Rainbow River. One of the most beautiful places in Florida. Stunningly pretty and incredible colors everywhere you look. Crystal clear turquoise water.
A 5 mile long spring river.

We went kayaking on the Rainbow River today. It was beautiful. We started at K.P. Hole and paddled upstream. The current is very weak so it doesn't take much effort. The nature was very beautiful. The river is crystal clear. Definitely worth a trip on the river. From the entrance to the spring it takes about an hour. We were made aware of this great place by a local. Worth it!

Beautiful place to spend the day. River is large, deep, and has quite the current. Great for whatever you’re into; scuba diving, snorkeling, paddling, tubing, or just swimming. Lots of wildlife and gorgeous views to take in. Many spots to stop for a break including the state park, KP hole, and swampys. Clear water, but it does get murky by the afternoon due to all the motor boats on the water so get in early if you’re going underwater.
Located in central Florida, Rainbow Springs State Park offers a natural spring and lush forest. The park is well-known for its gentle rivers and year-round 72 degrees temperature.kayaks, tubing, fishing, swimming, hiking and bird watching are some of the activities available at the park.
It was my first time visiting and this place was seriously so beautiful. Some of the most incredible water I’ve ever gotten to swim in my life. I definitely recommend bringing a snorkel mask and a pool noodle when coming to swim here. I also recommend going early on a weekday to avoid busier times, we got there at 10:30 on a Thursday and didn’t have any issues getting in. I was worried about gators before coming swimming here, but after getting in I didn’t see any and felt very comfortable and safe swimming there. I’m already so excited to come back here again some time. Seriously check it out if you’re considering going! The springs are breathtaking and so refreshing to swim in.

Entrance fee is $2 per person collected at a gate house near the spring headwaters about .25 miles from the parking lot. There are some short trails, a swimming area, restroom/changing rooms, pavilions and grilling areas and a lawn area for sunbathing. The visitor center and snack bar were closed on the day of our visit, Tuesday in February.
There is a watercraft launch and rental area located just past the swimming area which we used to launch our paddle boards. You will need to carry your watercraft from the parking lot to that area.
The water is crystal clear, deep and 72 degrees year round. Paddling was great, next to no obstacles with light currents. I have had more scenic experiences, much of the river is occupied by residential areas on one side. Wildlife is abundant, turtles, fish and birds are everywhere. As in any water source in Florida there are alligators but we did not observe any during out 3 hours on the water. Best of all were the small coves along the river which provided opportunities to pull over and cool off with a swim.
There is a campground located 7 miles by road from the spring that has its own watercraft launch.
Overall the park was a great experience although I’m sure it would be difficult to have that same option had we gone on a weekend, the park closes the gate at capacity, or had we not taken the watercraft out to explore the river away from the swimming area.

The nature is reach and beautiful
We love it here because it was easy to find a shaded spot for a picnic under the trees and it’s very clean. Pets are allowed and there is lots of picnic table under the pavilions
You can then jump in the deep water by the ramp. If you have small children with you bring a noodle, I’d like one for me too, the water is deep & the spring pool wide
We rented a kayak for one hours and was enough
There is a beautiful cafe over the spring and a gorgeous trail where you can take a walk trough what was a zoo in the ‘60st … along the trail there is small waterfall
I think you’ll have to walk 3 miles to reach the bigger one
Not tubes allowed

My husband and I went paddle boarding at rainbow springs and we loved it! Beautiful river! We didn’t get to see much wildlife but it was still worth seeing the crystal clear water.

This place is AMAZING. Beautiful. Spectacular. We rented a kayak and got dropped off up stream from there we paddled to the state park and jumped in the water and paddled downstream to the rental place/blue gator. Paddling up to the state park took about 30ish minutes paddling downstream took about 2 hours so be prepared, being lots of sunscreen and go early in the morning!!!! The wind is not fun to paddle against. If we were to do it again we would’ve gone out at 9am instead of 1pm!!! But overall Excellent Experience!! 12/10

Beautiful state park with a botanical garden with walking paths, canoe/kayak area, restrooms with changing rooms and a swimming area. The parking lot is only a 5-10min walk away. You can tell this is a touristy destination by their gift shop, food stand & how they set up the park. The swimming area is smaller than expected, but still an amazing experience. I saw a sea turtle while swimming!
They do charge a $2 admission.
The campground is nice, clean and spacious. Check in was easy & staff was friendly. You can see the stars above in the night. The area is quiet & great for families.

Wow wow wow! The experience you get here is truly unforgettable. Such a beautiful spring. Crystal clear water and cool. With a swimming area and also kayak and canoe rentals. Restrooms are on site. Lots of areas to setup a nice picnic. The views were beautiful here. It does get busy on the weekends. So it's best to arrive right before they open. For only $2 per person to get in. It's the best experience you can have for that price. Btw you are allowed to snorkel in the swimming area.

The place is magical. Great for spending the weekend. The only downside was that the actual swimming area and the rental area were closed due to a storm. The trails were amazing! As for the food sold at the cafeteria, the cheeseburger was a 10/10.

Beautiful, crystal clear water and scenic views. Absolutely loved tubing down this river. Saturdays are heavy with boat traffic but Sundays are pretty quiet on the river. You can bring your own tunes but the entry price is the same!

Fantastic place for a paddle. Water is crystal clear. Go to KP Hole for easy access to the river. You can drive, and drop off your kayak or paddle board, almost all the way to the water. Once your on the river go left (it’s much more scenic that direction). If you paddle to the end there is a nice swimming area.

The water was 72 degrees. It was beautiful, blue and cold. It's at least 7 plus feet deep. The waterfalls around the nature trails were pretty. They do need additional tables, chairs and BBQ grills. If you want to grill, make sure you get there early to get a grill. It has a nice open field for picnics and play time. You can bring your dogs to this park. They do have a cafe on site or you can bring your own food. You can use a kayak to view the wonderful and beautiful nature God created. I've lived in Florida all my life, and I didn't know this place was here. I really enjoyed the trails and cold water. You only have to pay $2.00 to get in, and make sure you keep your receipt for re entry (just in case you need to go back to your car or to get something to eat). It is a must see if you love the great outdoors! Enjoy!

You can find all your answers here before coming here. This place is so amazing to see one of the natural springs in Florida. Firstly, it's open all day, basically from sunrise to sunset, which sounds great! It's a perfectly clean environment with amazing natural sounds. Summertime is always packed, so I was able to visit in October, which made me feel like I was the only person in the state park. The weather here is a bit colder than in South Florida. The swimming pool area is a bit small, so it could be a problem during the summer for accommodating everyone. There's not enough flat space to sit on the ground for a picnic, but they do have a pavilion and a cafe. The restroom is close to the pool area. If you like, you can also do canoeing 🛶 or kayaking. Last but not least, it's $2 per person.
Here's all you need:
⭐️ Bring a noodle; the water is a bit deep, but you can feel secure.
⭐️ Tubes are not allowed 🚫.
⭐️If you have a cart, keep in mind that parking and the pool area are about a 5-minute walk away.
⭐️Bring your snorkel 🤿 or goggles 👓.
⭐️I highly recommend bringing a wetsuit if you have one; the water is around 72 degrees all year.
⭐️Be ready to take amazing pictures!

It's like your own peaceful island! I spring hop often and this is by far the best I've been to! Not just for the waterfalls or the amazing springs but they also had restrooms, a gift shop and a snack bar!! It is clean and well kept also! I went during a weekday and got there as soon as they opened so it was quiet for the first few hours before it got busy! It was still serene tho!

One of the most beautiful places ever. The water are crystal clear and have the most beautiful colors. They have a huge lawn where you can just chill, and a bbq area where they also have tables and benches. They also have a small shop at the entrance for snacks and drinks. You can rent a kayak or puddle board for around 17$-27$ per hour (or around 50$ for the entire day). Another huge benefit to this spring is that they have beautiful trails where you can walk about and explore the nature around. GO THERE! Tubes are not allowed. You can bring your own kayak or puddle board as well (don’t know if they charge you an extra fee for that).

Very beautiful 😍 I did not expect the water to be so blue!! It was so pretty I had an amazing time. The water was crystal clear, and you could swim down and touch the springs. I highly recommend bringing a pair of goggles and, if you have some, snorkels. I went paddle boarding and saw fish, birds, and turtles. This was an exciting and superb experience. I would definitely go again but there are other springs I would like to see as well.

This place is beautiful. Manybtrails to walk and enjoy nature. The spring water is crystal clear and at a constant temperature of 72°F.
It is also a good place to rent or bring your own kayak.
Their gift store is also a good place to stop by and the food it good. Would definitely visit again. Next time, I will do their tubing down the river.

Went to this Spring to do some paddelbaording and it did not disappoint. Beautiful clear water. Could see fish and turtles swimming under the water. There are areas of deep and shallow water. Couple of different areas to launch your kayak, SUP, or canoe. Has a swimming area marked off and has a little dock and a ladder where you can swim. There is a small gift shop and a cafe where you can get drinks and snacks. A nice outdoor seating area with tables. There are several trails. There is a trail that leads to a pretty waterfall.

The best part about traveling to any spring in the state of Florida . Is getting there . And the back way is the most scenic
Rainbow Springs is definitely at the top of the list for Springs. A little physical for somebody who is struggling with strength. There's waterfalls throughout the property, but it's a very hilly terrain. Handicap accessible to see the falls and around the spring. But not handicap to get into the water. I was very disappointed and exhausted after driving 3 hours to go there. I wasn't able to get into the water. I used the Springs as part of my therapy after having a broken back. I spoke to the Rangers about having a handicap accessible ramp that goes down into the water. Some of the Springs have the handicap chair. There is more than one handicap person going to the park. The park is beautifully maintained. The spring is absolutely breathtaking, always a 72° all year round. It's a $2 fee to get in and definitely worth it. There are several springs in the surrounding area. You can ask for a spring map and also a state park map for Florida. There are over 176 state parks, not including National in the State of Florida alone. And at least 75 Natural Springs in the state of Florida. Each one being more beautiful than another.
I hope you enjoy my recommendation. Safe travel🏞

Very fun. Kids had a blast swimming. It was early January and only 65 degrees but the kids were more than happy to spend a few hours in the swimming area. Walking around park was very nice, lots of beautiful scenery, waterfalls and streams. Nature trails were also fun but didn’t get a chance to explore them all. Will definitely be returning next time we are here for vacation.
To be clear, not sure if diving or jumping is allowed but it was 6-7’ deep and kids never got yelled at so🤷♂️

I went to see the waterfalls. They were really nice. Worth the drive from Jax. The parking was sketchy. The entrance fee is $2 a person. Come early because they closed at 1pm Saturday because they were full to capacity.

Beautiful place! Very well maintained, friendly staff. $2 entry fee per person. Not a lot of parking so, come early. A gift shop and a small cafe are available but, not always open so bring whatever you might need, just in case. If bringing small children, please bring some type of USCG-approved flotation device for them as the water is too deep for even adults to stand. There's no beach access, just steps and pier access. You are not allowed to hang out on the steps either so again, it's recommended to bring flotation devices for younger kids and non swimmers. Waterfalls, trails, covered picnic areas and open grassy areas for picnics and sitting are all some great features.

We took a motorcycle ride and visited here to take in the scenery. The park was beautiful. It has a crystal clear spring area for swimming. It also had very pretty waterfall's for viewing. They had a gift shop, and a snack bar. There were also indoor restrooms. There is walking involved up, and down hill. It appeared that a motorized handicapped seated scooter could be used if needed. There was a $2.00 entry fee per person.

This is the heads springs for the Rainbow River the water is crystal clear. There is a roped off area for swimming. During the week it is not too crowded, a bit more peaceful and quiet. During the winter months, even quieter. A few waterfalls along a paved walkway and some fish ponds. Picnic tables, benches to relax on, public restrooms. The staff was very friendly. The nature trails are sand and very wooded but easy to navigate. Parking can be a problem During the summer months, have to get there early. You can rent kayaks there also, I didn't, so can't comment on that. Just a beautiful state park worth every bit of the $2 entrance fee.

I've been here a couple times now and enjoyed each visit. Haven't been to many Florida state parks yet but this is one of my favorites. The kayaking is good and the gardens, flowers and waterfalls are beautiful. Worth a visit if you are near Ocala or looking to detour off I-75.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning author's restored 1930s Cross Creek farmhouse with tours & gardens.
This is a great day trip. We took our time and enjoyed the whole area. Nice walking trails all level and in the shade; nice surprise.
Tours were available and needed to go into the house. $3 per group in one vehicle to enter park. Honor box to pay the fee; correct change is needed.
The farmhouse tour fee is $3 per adult and $2 per child. Hours 9 to 5.
It is perfect for kids and all accessible for any age. Plenty of benches and picnic tables.
Great restaurant “The Yearling” just up the road well worth the stop.

We throughly enjoyed our visit to Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park. The grounds and the trails were beautifully scenic. I especially enjoyed walking the jungle trail behind the house with the many cypress trees and orange trees.
The tenant house was open for a self guided tour, and had three rooms and a large porch..
We toured the farmhouse with a tour guide. We were taken through each room. Our guide pointed out interesting things that Ms. Rawlings wrote about in her book, “Cross Creek.” I am very glad I had the foresight to read that book before the tour.

One of the nicest place for a day trip. A small farm house, may be you have seen that many times in your dreams but never expected it to exist in real world. This is one of my most favorite places in Florida. I try to go at least once a year. Definitely go on the free house tour (Thursdays through Sundays.) Every time I've gone, the guides have been able to answer every weird question I've thrown at them. They even knew the name of the paint color (FYI: Shermin Williams Cheese Curd.). This site is a snapshot of ‘old Florida’ before we began to fill the state with animatronic theme parks and palatial subdivisions. It represents a slower lifestyle when we grew our own fruits and vegetables and raised our own livestock. You can spend a pleasant hour or two exploring Ms Kinnan Rawlings home and small orange grove. This site is especially interesting for fans of her books and has a nostalgic charm for Florida natives that remember the old days. The tour guides are knowledgeable and are clearly fans of her work. I enjoyed hearing about the famous authors that came to visit.

Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring is a unique subterranean natural pool located underground in Williston, FL. The pool boasts of rock formations, stalactites and fossil beds that provide an exciting diving and snorkeling experience. To access the spring, visitors must navigate through medieval stone stairs, adding to the thrill of the adventure. Although pictures may give an idea of what to expect, taking the plunge into Devil's Den brings an adrenaline rush like no other.
This place exceeded expectations. It's so cool and beautiful, and the grounds around the spring are something to see as well. Checked this one off the bucket list today, and it was well worth it. FYI, make sure you check out their website before coming here to read the rules and make sure it's for you and if so to make a reservation. Definitely check this place out. You won't be disappointed at all. Oh and the friendly cats on the grounds are a plus 😻

It was alright. Relatively small space to swim in, only saw a few fish which were mainly tucked into the dark recesses of the cave. Water wasn’t super clear either. So many other springs that are cheaper or free with much better snorkeling. Pros: unique spring being in a cave, nice shady area to picnic. For $60 for our family of 4, we all rated it as not worth it.

Awesome spot to go snorkeling or scuba diving. The water is crystal clear. The campsite has water and electricity and there is bathrooms to shower in. We took our own BBQ grill and it came in handy. There is a fire pit on all the camping sites. Just a really great experience.

It was definitely a unique experience. It was neat to see all the fish and the turtles. The water was cool and refreshing. They give you an hour and half time slot but we were done after 45 minutes. It is a bit smaller than we expected. If you have your own scuba gear I’d bring it. The fins were not the best and hurt our feet. I had to exchange snorkels twice because I kept breathing in water. They do not provide defogger for the goggles. The goggles were super greasy and needed a good cleaning. There was no one monitoring the swimming area in the sink hole.

This cave is pretty awesome. We spent about an hour and 15 minutes in the water. They give you 1.5 hours total. It's a long drive from Orlando. But it's definitely worth it. If you have your own mask and goggles that will save you a few dollars. The staff is super friendly, And was worth it.

Very cool and definitely worth a trip! The RV park had shady spots that were nice, but I wish our water hookup wasn’t defective for our whole visit. It’s truly gorgeous spot. If you’re snorkeling, maybe try to find a time it’s not packed with scuba divers.

Devil's Den Prehistoric Springs offered a nice experience, though the $30 fee, which covers snorkel gear for a limited 90-minute window, felt a bit steep. The snorkel gear worked fine except for the fact they do not even treat the googles with anti-fog which was quite aggravating as you had to continuously remove them to clean the lens. The initial cold shock from the water subsided as our bodies adjusted, leading to an amusing numbness. While enjoyable, there is not much to see except maybe for the scuba divers so the pricing might leave you questioning the overall value for the experience.

It looks exactly all the pictures, except it is even better as it is totally quiet and serene. Nelson, the turtle, was the highlight for me. Also lots of fishes, big and small!
Loose items are not allowed, but I would bring a flashlight to attach to your person. On a cloudy day, it would have been awesome to see more of the bottom.

We dove here on New Years Eve...a couple of dives during the day, then came back before midnight to finish out 2023 25' underwater. Someone had a beach ball with a strobe, and so the ball did not drop, but rather ascended. Kind of hard to get that kiss...the masks get in the way.
Well set up facility. Quick tank fills and ample room under the pavilions. It's a nice little park.
Entrance is a narrow 29 step walk down to the spring. We didn't have camera for diving so have to find videos on your own. Snorkelers have to give way to divers...please remember that our gear can be heavy and cumbersome. When we were there we had no issues.
Spring is 72 degrees year round. We got out of the water and the temp was 45 at midnight. A bit chilly to be ripping off wetsuits and drying off, but it's checked off the bucket list now.

Great dive site. It gets crowded. Best to go early. Max depth around 50'. It's basically a cave, who's ceiling fell in way back when. So now it's a cavern. Tons of swim through. 70 degree water. I'd recommend a minimum 3mm suit. Better with a 5mm. If you don't dive, there is the snorkeling option.

Was fun, all the employees were great and extremely friendly. the area itself was fun and cool, i could see how it could get crowded quickly. we got there early and they let us go in early so it was pretty empty for about 20 minutes. Overall a neat experience and great price. the area was a cool relaxing place to camp also.

This place is super cool. It is a must if you’re in the area. If you’re in Florida for Disney, I highly recommend taking a day to come check this out. Or if you’re a local to Fl, take a weekend to check it out. You have options to explore this gem through snorkeling or dive. It’s a great dive, the visibility is great so you’ll get some cool pics.

The Devils Den should be in your bucket list of nature wonders in Florida!
This is a completely different experience of snorkeling in springs or beaches.
The feeling of walking into the cave to dive into this beautiful blue hole is amazing 😍
The visibility was perfect, it has some fishes and turtles living inside; we were more than half day swimming at the Den and enjoying the pool next to it.
Last but no least, the opportunity to take wonderful pictures from the top of the Den and enjoy nature are great!
The staff is super friendly and everything is well maintained. 100% recommended 👍

Worth the trip!! If you’re a first responder or military, they offer a steep discount (not for the whole family but for the service member or responder). You must have a reservation and mask/snorkel/fins are required. You can rent everything there if you like. Tickets are good for a 2.5 hr dive or snorkel. After visiting several other springs in the area, I think this one was slightly warmer than the rest. Though if you’re diving you definitely want a wet suit. A really neat and unique experience. Highest recommendation!

So there are some reviews on here suggesting that the staff was rude and unpleasant. This, I'd have to strongly disagree with. From my experience the staff was friendly and informative. What I did witness, was a couple of people who didn't follow the rules, and were addressed about it but still seemed to not understand. Another thing I noticed was that as the day gets later, the more busy the den becomes. With that being said, there isn't a bunch of room to go up and down the stairs or swim. If you're looking to get the most out of your experiences, I'd suggest finding a time with the lowest traffic.
The experience itself was great! The scenery is amazing and beautiful! The water is clear and crisp and the greenery coming into the cave from the sink whole is awesome! Yes the water is cold! So if you're not willing to dip into it maybe just go for the epic visuals. Overall it was an great time and I'd highly recommend it anyone who loves and appreciates nature in all its beauty and glory!

Definitely worth the drive to enjoy. The place is very clean and staff is friendly. You need to make reservations in advance on their website. They require you to know how to swim with no life jackets and have snorkel and fins to go in which are also available for rent if you don’t have any.

The staff are extremely friendly (that includes the four legged members) and they explain everything very well. We came to snorkel. The snorkeling gear worked fine and it was easy to avoid accidentally getting water down the tube. When we visited Devil’s Den, the water felt too cold to us even though it’s advertised as 72 degrees year round. It might be best to go during the hot summer to cool off or else you’ll be envious of the scuba diver’s wetsuits.
There were several scuba diver groups when we went. From what we observed this looks like a great place to try out scuba diving for the first time to get the hang of it if the open ocean is too intimidating. The spring goes down pretty deep and there was plenty of room to accommodate approximately 20-30 scuba divers and roughly 5 snorkels.
Our snorkeling reservation gave us 90 minutes in the spring. For us this was too long. We were pretty cold by the end and could have done just a half hour tops.
As far as if there is a lot to see in the den, there really isn’t. There are fish and at least one large turtle in the spring, but it’s pretty dark and hard to see much of anything. A pro tip is to hover by a scuba diver that has a flashlight to see a bit more, but it’s really just rock.
It came out to just shy of $80 for two to snorkel and rent snorkeling gear. I would consider bringing your own snorkeling gear to lower the cost, but I still think the price is a extremely high. I can see why some people call this a tourist trap.

Won’t return: unique but overhyped.
We did our second checkout dive here - yes I passed, am an certified scuba diver 😊. The iconic photo is all there is.
The venue is well kept, I think it’s pretty small - didn’t have time to walk around. Our dive masters said during the high season, it’s crowded, but I feel it’s pretty crowded now.
Two sections of stairs lead you down, one is narrower than the other. You see the iconic photo - small cave, with willows (?) dripping down from the opening, mixing with the sunlight - very enchanting. Because it’s our training session, photography is discouraged. I managed a few shots while waiting for the dive master working with one of our mates.
The spring water is 72 degrees constant. The space for dive is tight … the snorkelers are mostly foreign.
We spent nearly an hour to do paperwork - so be aware and budget for it.
There is a swimming pool where we also spent a few hours, to train. They’ve bathrooms and showers.
The registration/rental office has a microwave (not sure it’s for guests). Long sleeve t shirt for sale.
I couldn’t image how divers manage during the high season.

It is a beautiful place indeed but I just don’t see the point of spending $25 + $14 snorkel rental - for swimming in this small hole that is full of people. They have 45 spots available per slot.
You can bring your own snorkel.
You must make reservations on their website.
You have access for swimming for 1:30h
water was very cold but once you get used it’s okay. We stayed 25 min max. the old lady is super grumpy

Very great scenery, lots of open space, and many types of marine life living in the cave. They also have a few bats flying in the cave. Small area just to get into the cave, but it's bigger once you get down into it. Perfect clear waters to allow you to see everything, be it from just snorkeling or diving, the natural sunlight coming into the cave really helps light up the area. Sucks that you have to be part of a group just to vouch for you and be able to visit the area.

Gave it a solid 5 stars because diving into this cave and taking a swim was a blast! We visited on December 28th, and despite the cool weather, the cave was surprisingly warm inside. Snorkel gear rental was budget-friendly, and we had a good 2+ hours of underwater fun. Only cons is that after the changing room, you have to leave your clothing on picnic tables and walk your way in your swimming suit and snorkelling equipment (no place for sandals inside the cave or for towels. They should work on improving this. Also the reservation system is not friendly if you want to cancel a booking you have to call them. This is an issue if you live outside USA. But in general it was a great experience.
Jose E — Google review
Snorkeling and Scuba diving are by reservation only. They will not let you in without one. You need an ID at check-in and will get a wristband after you get your rental equipment. I visited in the middle of summer when the temperatures were around 100 degrees. The spring water is a cool 72 degrees year round and very refreshing. My 7 year old son enjoyed it but found it a little too cold with a short sleeve rash guard and swim shorts. A full wetsuit would have been better for him. Even with a reservation, it can get pretty crowded when entering the spring. Everyone tends to hang out on the platform in front of the stairway at the bottom. Overall, it's a cool cave with fishes to swim around in. I would go again. This place is family friendly and affordable.

This place is very neat to see and a bit creepy because of the name 😬.. You must pay the park fee and also sign a waiver in order to get anywhere close to the opening Two Devil's Den and I can understand why!. One of Earth's many Marvels and spectacular to behold.

My family had a wonderful time snorkeling at Devil's Den. We read the website before we came, so we had our time reservations all set up and everything went smoothly when we arrived. The staff was friendly as they got our gear and explained the rules of the swimming in the springs. It wasn't too crowded, but it was really nice when all the people who didn't do their research left early because, surprise, springs are cold!
The Florida Museum of Natural History is a large and well-maintained museum that explores both the natural and human heritage of Florida, the Caribbean, and Latin America. It has many permanent displays on Florida's fauna and flora as well as an extensive butterfly rainforest.
I brought four of my little ones my wife and brother in-law to visit this gem, the kids where completely blown away and had smiles from ear to ear the whole time we were there. The wife loved many parts of the visit as did the brother in-law. I have been to quiet a few museums in my life time and this one was very well laid out and was not to long or to short it was just right the facility was clean and had ample parking over all it was a very pleasant family outing and we thank you for your work and dedication to supplying our youth and even our adults with the beauty and history you elegantly laid out for our viewing pleasure can't wait to see how you change things around with new exhibits in the future

Not too expensive, great for kids with a variety of exhibits and rotating displays. The staff were friendly and helpful during our lost-child incident. They had a very interesting display of fossils, presented in a timeline of ancient Florida. They also had a great area for young children, including those with sensitivities. Highly recommended.

Me and my mom went on a Saturday, and we waited about 20 seconds to buy our tickets. The most impressive thing about the museum was the organization of everything and how updated each exhibit was! We spent about 3 hours in the museum, the butterfly exhibit is definitely worth the extra money, super beautiful and relaxing. Also we loved how on each exhibit everything was clearly labeled, letting us know what we were looking at, which we LOVED. Also at the fossil area, the table with two magnifying glasses was super cool and went maybe 20 minutes there just looking at shells and snake skin. This museum is fun for adults as well as kids and we will definitely go back

What a wonderful museum and tip of the hat to FL! Butterfly garden is a must IMO if you like butterflies. The museum has the largest specimen collection of butterfliesand moths in the world at over 9 million specimens! The temporary Fossil exhibit they have on display for a limited time is amazing. The kids were able to get hands on, not only in the discovery center, but also helping to glue together and label fossils before they are cataloged in the national database. We will be back. The.food at the Cafe next door was great and reasonably priced!

The exhibits are interesting, captivating, and very informative. I love the limited time exhibits they offer. They will often include hands-on and interactive displays, which is fun for kids and adults! The discovery zone is also super hands-on and interesting. The butterfly garden is absolutely beautiful and an experience I recommend for everyone. The museum also has a great gift shop! Don't miss out on this outstanding museum!

Wow this place is so cool! It's a wonderful museum dedicated to Florida's natural history and has so many interesting exhibits. My absolute favorite is the fossil exhibit. The Mastodon display is quite impressive and mostly intact. The butterfly garden is pretty spectacular too. And if you like spiders and creepy crawly things check out the Spiders Live exhibit. We had such a wonderful time here.

Great museum to spend half a day in. Plenty to see and learn about Florida’s natural history. Area for kids to interact and learn. Butterfly garden is a must add on. The temporary exhibits vary throughout the year and are usually worth the add on as well.

This museum is great! I'm a Florida native and very passionate about the states wildlife, and their collections are very diverse and informative. So many cool fossils, specimens, and exhibits on the flora and fauna of the state. Their traveling exhibits are always super interesting as well, most recently I saw the dinosaur egg exhibit, which had ton of interesting info and reproductions for both kids and adults. I definitely recommend this place, especially for return visits, because there's just so much to see!

Really impressive museum for its size. It looks small from the exterior but its a labyrinth of exhibits and a wealth of Florida science and history information. The discovery kids zone is fantastic, but note that section and the special exhibits close 30 minutes before actual museum closing time. Its free admission to permanent exhibits and an absolute must with kiddos if you're visiting the area.

Nice museum. Easy parking. Lots to see and different exhibits. Paid extra to see the butterfly garden and spider display. Was worth it. Lots of Florida history. Arrow heads. Native American history. Fossils. It wasn’t too busy. Lots of space staff was very friendly and informative. Nice place to spend the day. Good for family’s kids and dates.

So wonderful! It's free to get in but you have to pay to see the extra exhibits. It's totally understandable when you think about how expensive it would be to keep all of the butterflies, plus the plants , and other animals alive. I highly recommend it! I've never seen so many shell fossils! The native American history was also educational and would be great for kids (especially homeschooling ones).

A really nice museum thoroughly depicting the history of Florida’s prehistoric past. There are a huge collection of fossils and entire skeletons of prehistoric animals from the region. There are also a great many displays on the early indigenous people of the area. A really interesting place to visit.

We loved everything about this museum! We had gone once before and decided to take our entire family this go around. The butterfly gardens are a must. We enjoyed being able to go in as many times as we wanted. Perfect location for both kids and adults to have a memorable trip. Entry is free, just have to pay for the add-ons like the butterfly gardens.

It was a bit windy and brisk so we didn’t do the butterfly rainforest as the lady at the ticket desk told us it wouldn’t be worth the ticket price as the butterflies aren’t out and active when it’s cooler outside so we just browsed the gift shop and free portions of the museum as a pit stop on our way back from Orlando. It was a nice place to explore and a good way to break up the drive.

every time my granddaughter comes to visit me we go to see the butterfly exhibition. Beautiful is like being in another world. Due to her condition of Autism, her connection with nature is incredible. She also has ADHD.
also requiring Support in Social Communication. Before entering she understands the rules of the site very well even better than me. because she is high functioning autistic. And believe me, maybe one day she will work for you guys. But the fact that she spreads her arms is not an indication that she wants to touch the butterflies. It is for them to reach her. I'm telling you this not because of a bad review because there was one of you staff employees who came out and told her you can't touch them. You can imagine what happened to her. she began to cry because what she wanted was for a blue butterfly to reach on her hands. Nothing more than that. She wasn't touching her I was with her reminding her of the rules she just wanted to feel the blue butterfly in her hands. She wasn’t stalking them . which she knows very well its name and its characteristics not only of that butterfly of almost all of them. I can assure you that in the future my granddaughter will be of great help to you. Having said all this, I only have one suggestion. Today various colors are used to identify special conditions. I think it's the purple color. With a bracelet you as employees will know that it is a person with special conditions. but that behind them there is an adult who knows the rules and is going to help you to make that special person follow the rules in such a beautiful place prepared to preserve something as beautiful as butterflies. My granddaughter Briana is very grateful that you take care of her butterflies, she understands that butterflies are God's creation and you have to take good care of them. When she spreads out her arms, she knows that at some point one of the butterflies is going to reach her, and that's how it has been on our recent visits to such a beautiful place.

We saw a billboard on I75 and decided to stop by. We had the best butterfly encounter. They also had a dino exhibition that we enjoyed as well.. the butterflies though stole the show. If heaven was a place, this would be it. They have an incredible variety of butterfly species in here. It's absolutely fantastic to be able to see them all fluttering around. They provide them a large variety of pollinator plants so no matter the species, they are happy. They clearly care about the health and safety of all their butterflies and it's just magical to be able to witness it. I had to walk through twice just to be able to experience it again. 10/10 would recommend 💛

Butterfly Rainforest is like stepping into a page of a fairy tale book. Though compact in size, it bursts at the seams with vibrant life and natural beauty. A favorite among children, the venue is a testament to the idea that sometimes the most magical places come in small packages.
From the moment you enter, you're greeted by a myriad of fluttering wings, as countless butterflies dance around, making it a delightful spectacle. The vivid hues of these delicate creatures contrasted against the backdrop of lush greenery and radiant flowers is genuinely a sight to behold.
Speaking of flowers, the Rainforest is a paradise for botany enthusiasts. The curated collection of flora not only serves as nourishment for the butterflies but also provides visitors with a sensory treat of colors and scents. Each petal and leaf has been meticulously cared for, showcasing the delicate balance and harmony within this micro-ecosystem.
The addition of the serene water body dotted with colorful koi fish adds another layer of charm to the place. Watching these graceful fish move through the water, almost in a rhythmic dance, is both calming and captivating.
Though it might not take a whole day to explore, the Butterfly Rainforest leaves a lasting impression. It's a testament to nature's beauty and a gentle reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful things are found in the smallest of spaces.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a quick escape into a world of vibrant colors, mesmerizing creatures, and tranquility, the Butterfly Rainforest should be on your radar. It's not just an attraction; it's an experience - one that both kids and adults will cherish.

Very enjoyable, a helpful, friendly staff, and wow the butterflies!! I visit each year, and the display changes each time, and many species are always present, and each time I visit there are new ones to see for the first time. Had an amazing time on a private walking tour with my husband. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. My husband arranged it as a surprise for me, including feeding experiences, and she helped him keep it a secret until the end. I loved hearing the backgrounds of the animals, watching them interact, and seeing how happy they were. I would highly recommend visiting. Just know, you may not see all the animals because they either sleep during the day or are trying to keep cool. It is not the fault of the staff, you’re on the animals’ time and at their home.

Isaiah, the zookeeper who gave us a tour was incredibly knowledgeable. I don’t think there was one question we asked him that he couldn’t answer. He was friendly and welcoming, making the tour a great experience.
Whenever we’re down here again, we’re definitely coming back to check on our new friends.

Visitors can enjoy the 72F crystalline waters of the spring or explore the 8.5-mile-long North End hiking/cycling trail on land. Scuba diving is also available at the springhead, with 117 million gallons of water per day gushing out.
This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the Florida. I have been to Genie Springs for camping but Manatee is underrated and I believe it's better than most of the springs and campgrounds. It's great if you make a booking in advance. The spring was not that good as compared to others but the camping experience was memorable. They provide water and electricity, it could have been better if they could provide a garbage can as well. I am sharing some pictures.

We came here to visit in the beginning of June. We did not see any manatees but when we arrived around 9a.m. we were pleased to find that there was hardly anyone at the park. It was 6$ per vehicle to park here and it looks like there is a lot of campsites here as well. The trees are beautiful and provide lots of shade from the hot sun. Dogs are not allowed in a lot of places in near the springs but they are allowed in the water only at the boat launch dock. Our dog loved dipping his toes in the water. The water was beautiful and serene in the early morning. Very refreshing on a hot day. We will be back here for sure!

This was a fun day adventure out of Cedar Key. The springs are great for swimming. Might be busy, but still plenty of room and deep water to swim in. Bring your mask, snorkel and fins. Family friendly. Easy kayak launch. Camping and fishing opportunities. We loved it!

Really beautiful park. Plenty of shade in the campground, not a lot of privacy between sites. Nice canoe/kayak launch. Decent boardwalk to river. Playground, concession stand and bathroom near spring. Dayuse area picnic tables with grills.

Beautiful place! The clear blue water and green algae in the bottom of the spring makes a beautiful picture. We got to see some manatees and it was so magical. Make sure to bring your snorkel to see them under water but give them space. We camped at the Hickory Loop, only for tents so no noise of motors running day and night. There are several nice and shady spaces and the walk to the spring is short. The only downside is that the restrooms could use an upgrade, the showers were small and uncomfortable. Other than that everything was great!

Overview: This is one of the best springs on the west coast of Florida. It has it all: camping RV and tent, swimming, playground, picnic area, and hiking. There is a private company that rents out canoes and kayaks too. What to know: There is an RV side and a tent side for camping. You can tent camp on the RV side. You can not launch a boat from inside the park, but there is a ramp not far to do so. You can dock a boat at the entrance to the park just off the Suwannee. Bathrooms and showers at the campgrounds and next to the spring. The swimming area is only allowed at the head of the spring. A good amount of hiking and biking trails. I know there was a snack shack and a store located next to the spring head at one time. However, the store is no longer there, and I did not see the snack shack open during my visit.

Great camping. Clean restrooms and camp sites. No cell phone service, which is really great for anyone wanting to get away without interruptions. Wildlife everywhere, deer will walk through the camp sites. The Rangers are really nice and very informative on everything. Someone gave a 2* review recently and the reasoning were things that are in clear fine print on a form the Rangers ask you to read to inform you of the rules, it's all there, horrible reason to leave a bad review.😢😢😢 Overall, love this place. Will be back soon and recommend. 😁😁😁😁😁

The all around outdoor experience!
Hiking, swimming, canoe/kayak rentals, picnic area, snorkeling, diving, camping, playground, clean restrooms, and concessions.
A manatee swam right into the spring where I was swimming. I saw deer, snakes, alligators, turtles, and fish. The trails were relaxing and good distances for all types of hikers ( wanderers)

This beautiful spring is one of the best! Loved camping here, and seeing all the wildlife! Definitely one of my faves since I can remember~
Bathrooms good, big spots for camping 🏕

We spent a good two hours there in late November. The air is refreshing and cool. The temperature is very comfortable, not cold or hot. A few folks were swimming and most, like us, enjoyed walking through the boardwalk. The park ranger gave my kid a lesson on vultures and I also learned a lot. The park is a popular camp site. We saw tents. We hope to go back there to explore more trails.

Fantastic! Had so much fun camping, swimming, and paddling Manatee Springs with our two kids and dog. Saw tons of wildlife from deer, to armadillo, hawks, muskrat, alligator, and of course a manatee. Lots of ticks in the area, still finding them in our gear 4 days later. Campsites and facilities are clean, staff is super friendly and the springs are really amazing. Can’t wait to come back when the boardwalk is rebuilt!

Beautiful park to take in the springs. A great boardwalk to the areas. Saw a couple manatees and a gator. Water is very clear! Lots of birds also. Awesome picnic areas. Tidy and well kept. Some people were swimming in the spring area. Easy access with steps down to the water.

Manatee Springs State Park it’s an excellent location to visit. We made a brief stop over and enjoyed the boardwalk and saw a good 15 to 20 manatees lounging about in the water. There was plenty of other wildlife around as well even though it was in the middle of December, the camping options look great and the price of admission was quite low at six dollars per vehicle. I would definitely come again.

Beautiful springs in Chiefland. Great for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Park admission was fairly cheap and staff was very pleasant. Lots of shaded areas to cook out on the grills provided by the park. They have large pavilions as well that can be used for cook outs, gatherings, etc. There were restrooms for the public here. They also have kayak and canoe rentals if you do not have your own. Little shop that has cold drinks and food and some souvenirs. There is also camping here on site for tents and rvs. Found this was less crowded and more enjoyable than some of the other springs. There also some hiking trails here. Great place to spend the weekend with friends, family, or even alone.

One loop is tent camping and one loop for rvs and trailers. RV sites have their own sewer. All sites are nicely shaded. NO CELL SERVICE. Beautiful spring for swimming. Not many trails for hiking. Mosquitoes were terrible!

Very quiet and beautiful park.
Tons nature, lots of wildlife, I recommend going to the dock for sunrise it's stunning. Don't expect to use your phone for much of anything but pictures because you don't have signal.
If you want to get away from it all this is a good place to go.

This is where you want to visit to see manatees! In winter the manatees will migrate up river and into this area. You can walk on a board walk mostly just above the springs tributary and see them. However, you should really consider renting a canoe or kayak! They're totally worth the price and you'll see so much more. Hiking trails are available but the water features are the best. The day use area has a code but campgrounds have restrooms with showers and no code.
Michael Barton — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place to swim and cool off. We brought pool noodles to help the kids stay afloat while snorkeling. There's a little bit of a current so keep that in mind with younger children. We saw two manatees (a mother and a baby!) but they were in the canoe/kayak launch area. We did see two water snakes (non-venomous) and a baby snapping turtle! The park staff were working on updating the little concession stand there. Also a fun playground and lots of picnic areas. I think we preferred this park over Fanning Springs, but Fanning is right on the bike trail so it's easier to get to if you're not driving a car. Both were worthy of a stop for sure!

It's one of my favorite springs to go to. My mom would bring me here as a child, so I have a lot of good memories here. The park has made many nice improvements and continues to make great improvements. The boardwalk to the river was closed due to construction, which is a good sign. We went today for a nice hike through the park and found lots of trails to choose from. If you are going hiking, be sure to take a trail map with you as the trails are not marked out as well as they should be. At intersection in the middle of the woods, you will need to look at the map to see where to go as some intersections are not marked. However, the hiking trails are very nice and smooth and would be great for biking. Which is our plan next time we visit the park. They had volunteer park ranger out riding his bike on the trails, checking in on you, which was very nice. There is lots of evidence of wildlife throughout the hike. Lots and lots of deer tracks. We ended up walking 6 miles total, so make sure you bring lots of water. There are a couple of benches along the trails but very little compared to other trails we have been on. I would definitely recommend this hike if you are looking to get a nice long walk-in. And of course I recommend the park and spring it is absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to see the boardwalk when it is all done.

One of my favorite FL State parks! clean restroom facilities and I always see a few manatees. The boardwalk is currently closed (as of April 2024) for reconstruction, but I'm sure it'll be amazing. For now, rent a kayak or canoe, and the trails are beautiful~

We had a nice 2 night stay at this state park. We had a back-in full hook-up site which was large enough for our 36' fifth wheel. Though the road through the campground is narrow. Fortunately, our site was by the entrance to the loop and we went out the way we came in. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed seeing the manatees just off the boardwalk, where we could see them easily. Though others were swimming with them, it was too cold for us! Very quiet park!

Another experience we will never forget is staying at Manatee Springs State Park. Being able to walk to see the Manatee every day was incredible! The gentle giants were so mesmerizing and just gave a sense of awe and peace. We chose to rent a kayak one day and to get that up close and personal with them was beyond words. I probably took 100 pictures!!
There were also great hiking trails and bike paths to enjoy. Our dogs loved the daily walks through the park. The bathrooms were very clean and nice, my only comment would be that there were 2 gigantic fans in them that made it a little chilly, my husband thought it might be a humidity thing?? We do have an RV but always prefer to shower in the perks restrooms. Because we were there in December they were quick showers!!
The staff was very friendly and efficient, we had 2 days of a pouring rainstorm and when we could finally get out they were working very hard at making it seem as if nothing had happened!
We will definitely return to the park again and highly recommend it to anyone.

This is an amazing place. Not as fancy as some of the other springs like Silver springs, but that makes it all the more worth it for us. Of course there is the spring itself, plenty of manatees that even enter into the swimming area but there’s also some lovely walking trails where you’ll likely meet some deer and armadillo’s. We spent some nights glamping in the park, highly recommend it.
Clear springs with caverns for scuba diving, snorkeling & swimming, plus a campsite & dive shop.
If heaven had a physical portal on earth, I'm pretty sure that Ginnie Springs is somehow connected to it. This place is absolutely breathtaking and I feel so fortunate that I was able to experience it with my kids and family.
Many reviews have have mentioned the party/late night scene at the campground. While we found that to be true, it wasn't bad. If you want a calmer, chiller scene (which is totally okay! Just mind your business and no one will bother you) then the state parks up the road may be a better option for you.

The spring itself is beautiful. The staff keep the grounds nice and clean. The water is refreshing and cool. It is a nice piece of nature that I pray we don’t destroy! The people are really the problem. I took my family for the first time recently and the grounds are overcrowded which makes getting to and enjoying the spring difficult! Unfortunately, the weekend is not the best time to go. Too much partying and drinking, young people are still rude and people don’t watch their children. Parents were getting drunk and leaving children unattended. The staff or the park are not to blame for the ignorance and poor behaviors of the adults present the day I was there. Those same adults allowed their children to block the steps to launch onto the spring. I will try to go on a Tuesday the next time. I rate the park a FIVE for the view and staff. The 3 represents the experience overall. I will return and do recommend this spot for a getaway. It is affordable and could be fun for the family!

What an amazing experience. We went for the day and had so much fun !! We drove from Jacksonville and the ride was sweet. The staff there were pleasant and helpful. The grounds were beautiful. The water is cold but if you love to swim it won’t stop you. Lots of fish so definitely get snorkeling gear. We went on a weekday after a storm so it wasn’t crowded but still busy in some areas.

I’m going to say for what it is and what I was expecting going in, it’s great. Is it packed? Hell. Freaking. Yes. Swarming with people. Is it completely clean everywhere? No. There’s literally no way to be with as many people were in here on a regular weekend. But our neighbors were great. The RV sites were a great size. The river float was SO fun with amazing people watching. We had both kids and adults in our group and had a great time. Just don’t expect them to answer a phone or email and expect to be shoulder to shoulder in all of the five or so spring head areas. Getting up early before everyone is up and in is a great idea.

This trip is a annual tradition for a few friends and family of mine and this was my first year joining them. Having been to a few other outdoor campgrounds in Florida I was surprised to see how well this turned out. Having a big enough spot for us all to set up our tents and canopies was nice. We were right on the river so there wasn’t no line getting in from the top. Having a deli with fresh cooked food was also a plus. If you didn’t bring any floatation devices they had some you could rent to go down the river and float in the springs. Speaking of the springs I want to say I counted 4 or 5 spring fed swimming holes. They were all so cool at around 74 degrees. Not once wasn’t there something for us to do. We were able to set up our ping pong table , corn hole boards, throw the frisbee and football while here. Totally worth the $30 for a day camping pass. I recommend anyone and everyone to at least come here once a year. You wouldn’t be disappointed not one bit.

The staff in the entrance, office, store and restaurant are pleasant, helpful, and respectful. The campground is beautiful, the springs are beautiful. There are canoes and kayaks to rent. The bathroom is clean. Do not get site 21, very small. It has a path to the bathhouse and everyone walks through this site between the camper and electric pole. It is a very noisy campground. Large groups play loud music until 1 am, and beyond. There were 4 golf carts racing on the camping loop road at 2am. This is not really a place for families with young children.
Update: Appears this campground is very busy on Fridays, and weekends. Sunday afternoon many campers leave, is quieter. Departed Monday afternoon, gatekeeper said our reservation ended Sunday, although we paid for three days on Friday. Daughter and son in law behind us, same thing. They stayed to confirm that in fact we all paid for three days. The staff wrote the wrong date of departure. We left, that was the last straw.

Snorkeling equipment rentals stop at 3pm. Springs close for diving at 5:30pm.

This place is fantastic. The springs are beautiful and the water is so clear. Floating down the river is spectacular. So calm and relaxing. The camping is great too. Beautiful woods to tent camp and convenient to the springs and the river. They have it mapped so you can float downstream and walk back to the beginning and do it again. What a joy. We will be coming back to this place for sure.

Beautiful springs. 72 all year round. No lie it’s cold water in February even if it’s 80 out. I would get wetsuits if your going in the winter months. Snorkeling and diving is recommended so you can see the underwater caves. Kayaking and tubing the river is super fun but that current is strong 💪 so it’s a workout kayaking up the river but a blast floating back down!! Clearest water I’ve ever seen!! Definitely a must go to to see…

1 star for camping, 5 stars for day trip to the springs. I have come in the past to free dive the springs and float the river. It was incredible. The springs are one of the most beautiful in Florida. Camping here was another experience…. People rudely playing music until 2/3 in the morning. Our neighbors were dancing nude by their fire while children were around. People trash the place and don’t care at all about others. Be prepared if you are interested in camping here, but definitely come for a day at the springs.

We absolutely were in awe at the beauty of Ginnie Springs. The water is perfect. My family and I tubed down ginnie Springs, and it was a great family memorable experience. ❤️ we also camped 1 night at a camp ground that was just a few miles from the springs. Next time, we hope to get a camp site at Ginnie Springs. We are definitely going to be taking a trip back to stay several days. 1 day just wasn't long enough to enjoy everything that they have to offer. Don't miss out on a wonderful day at Ginnie Springs with friends and family making memories.

This is an excellent place for either camping or a day trip.
For camping: There are plenty of campsites available. You must reserve one if you want water and electric. For primitive, it is first come first served. Regardless, there are accessible bathrooms within walking distance of any site. Payment for camping includes all other amenities such as water access and picnic table usage.
For day trip: They have recently improved the check in experience and it now takes five times as short, and you no longer have to exit your vehicle to pay. Picnic tables are first come first use, although there are gazebos that you can reserve ahead of time.
Overall: Ginnie Springs is a must visit for locals and visitors alike. Highlights include: The clear springs with year-round 75°F water; river access to float; volleyball courts; scuba diving opportunities; and canoe/paddle board access.
My only reservation is the recent uptick in entrance fee, although that was inevitable.

Stayed at the campground. Did not expect people blasting their music till 3 am. First time experiencing that. The springs are gorgeous if you go early in the morning or at night. During the day it’s way too packed with people partying. Floating down the river was fun. I would love to try the cave diving one of these days.

This review is for cave diving only, we didn't use any of the other facilities. Devils eye is an awesome cave to dive. Has a pretty good amount of flow, but the water is usually very clear. If you're going on a holiday weekend, make sure you get there early so you can get a parking spot close to the steps that lead to the cave entrance.

The rooms being the campground was great. We stayed in the electric/water side with our camper. Great little spot near the front office. Bathroom/showers were close by. Only thing is our group was bunched up with another group. Might be too close together, wish we had more space/privacy. Very clean also. The springs themselves were beautiful. I recommend going during the week in the off season because there will be less foot traffic. We got to enjoy the springs with minimum people. Definitely recommend kayaking or paddle boarding the lake! Don’t forget goggles! Also the little restaurant has amazing breakfast sandwiches! 10/10

I would highly recommend this place. We booked a spot here for two nights because some other plans that we had fell through. I'm really glad that we stayed here.
If you like to swim, kayak or tube this is the place to come to! Its also good for walking
We came on an off-season I'm sure that it can get very busy here but I would still stay here anytime.
We pull a 35 ft fifth wheel We had a pull through site there was plenty of room.

Beautiful springs, so gorgeous!!! The staff were helpful and kind.
The facilities were decent.
The noise of loud campers went way past the quiet hours and no one was enforcing so camping was challenging in that way. Some visitors absolutely trashed their campsites and there was generally a significant amount of trash around which was sad. We went the first week of April and there were so many primitive campsites available which was great! Next time I’ll camp by the lower springs because it seems quieter down that way.

Very nice campgrounds, from full service to tent sites, river tubing, kayak and canoe rentals. Good swimming. Well maintained facilities. Very good service and staff.
I will return and would recommend to others. They need to have someone run a golf cart shuttle for tubing clients upstream. That would make it five stars.

We all had a great time! A bit expensive for a large family @ 20.00 pp+ rental of tub or snorkel set (unless you bring your own). They do have an air station for tubes. Very clean bathroom and showers. There's also soap dispenser in the showers which is nice. The staff is also friendly and helpful which is a definite plus!! They also offer different types camping. We will be back to camp next time.

The springs are beautiful, the water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom. They have inner tubes kayaks and paddle boards that you can rent for the day and free life vest rentals or bring your own. Ginnie Springs is a beautiful place to visit, with clear water and fantastic scenery that offers unforgettable views. While it can be crowded at certain times of the year, it's worth it for the overall experience. Really enjoyed a family day trip here. Plenty of bathrooms available. Floating in the river was really relaxing. Going into the springs was really chilly but well worth it. The water is beautiful. Just be aware that the deli closes at 3. So, if you want to order food there, keep an eye on time. The food we had was great, though.

Visited Ginnie Springs during the last Saturday of July and had the most fun but there because I went with goood company and made the most out of it however there were many things that could have been better. I would highly recommend coming early as the line was long at 11 AM and it took around 30 minutes to get into the park. I would highly recommend to bring your own floats and pump. Unfortunately, during our visit the rental floats was closed by 12 PM due to an unfortunate broken pump and we had to purchase the inflatables for $23. We also had to wait in a long line to inflate the inflatables and the air pumps were very slow and some broken. The July heat did not make it enjoyable but the cold water spring was very refreshing once we got in. The spring was very packed with campers and daily visitors so be aware of the time of your visit. The water was extremely beautiful once you get in but it gets a yellow/dark brown once you reach the main river. We encountered some turtles while floating and had the most fun. Be aware if you plan to bring children as people do like to enjoy some natural herbs at the park. I would love to visit the spring during Winter and compare it to my July visit.
Things I recommend bringing: water shoes are a must, pump and floats, waterproof phone/keys case, ropes to tie floats together to stay together, glasses, hats and sunscreen.
Water and food is priced according to the area you are visiting so I would recommend bringing a cooler with your own water and food.

So disappointed in our most recent trip. It is such a shame that such a beautiful place could be destroyed so quickly. The campground was extremely dirty and noisy. Each site was filled with 3-6 tents, 10-30 people, and 4-6 cars. Most of the people were extremely inconsiderate and blared thier music into the morning. There was definitely a language barrier that made cooperation from the other campers a challenge. There was an RV in our site and multiple cars in the site next to it. Took 3 hours for them to unkindly move from our reserved site so we could pull in and hook up. It is definitely not just a college student hangout problem anymore. If you go there, you'll see what I mean. This is not the Ginnie I remember nor will ever come back to.

The park itself was amazing, the activities were great; however the response of the employees to my family member drowning was absolutely devastating and disappointing.
We understood that we signed a waiver and how we swim at our own risk; however, this was an actual drowning and emergency. My father got a cramp in his leg and fell off of the floating tube and was unable to get back on and was being dragged by the current in the river.
When we reached out for help because my father was struggling and clearly drowning in the river, the employees response was “we cannot help him unless he is drowning” which he clearly was, and everyone saw it.
We then asked if we could call 911 and they said “well, if you want to” which was astonishing, meanwhile my father was drowning in the river with no one able to help because the current was taking him further down.
The employees then said “we are working on it, we are waiting for our supervisor”… I’m sorry what? Someone is clearly in distress, drowning in front of everyone, and we are waiting for your supervisor?
My family and I ran to follow my father along and yelled at others to help us, and it is completely crazy how the people there were the ones helping us rather than the employees.
People ready to jump and help us and they were “waiting on their supervisor”.
We are eternally grateful for the help we got from the family that had the boat and was able to help him before a tragedy happened.
It was such a traumatic experience and we wish the employees had been a bit more empathetic and helpful as they heard the children of a man yell “save my dad”, the wife, and others break down as they see their loved one drowning.
As mentioned, everything else was great and a great experience but I wish such situations would be handled differently.
It was traumatizing for everyone involved along with other viewers and it would’ve helped if the employees handled our distress differently.

Everything about Ginnie Springs is 10/10! Plenty of bathroom and shower facilities, consistent hot water, free air for their tubes or your own which is nice! They have a deli cafe and the food was good. There was a very nice lady who came out and double checked that my well done/burnt burger was just how I ordered it and liked it and said they would keep on cooking it if it wasn't! We had cool neighbors. The springs are very beautiful and also kid and family friendly. All of this keeps us coming back to camp here.

Park featuring a 6-mi. river with summer tubing through wetlands, wildlife sightings & snorkeling.
We visited during the winter off season and it was absolutely amazing! There were barely any others visiting, so the river was quiet and pristine. We saw lots of wildlife, including birds, turtles, and even some manatees (they frequent the area upriver of Midpoint).
Note that they don’t allow you to bring any disposable items (snacks, bottled water) so make sure to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
Definitely recommend for all ages and levels of experience. We were in a party of 8 with both adults and pre-teen/teenage children, with little experience kayaking, and it was awesome.

Top notch springs. Clean, clear, comfortable temperature water. There's an abundance of various fish in the springs - nothing scary. The underwater views are stunning. There's more to the park than just the springs and river. The trails are nice and so is the picnic/BBQ area.

I recently kayaked here and walked around on the trails. The rental kayak pricing was reasonable. I paddled upstream and then turned around and floated back. The current is quick in a couple spots. Saw a bunch of wildlife along the way, including a manatee. The tubing looked fun too. I'd recommend a visit if you are considering and are in North Central Florida.

May 13, 2022 a Friday. It was a perfect day with little people traffic. We floated down twice. So peaceful...you heard the birds and just a little talk ftom the people ahead. Water temp was nice-- not too cold like we expected. Highly recommend! Just be sure to spray down with sunscreen and bring water in an aluminum or reusable container. NOT allowed to have disposable containers NOR food on the water!!!! There is a small restaurant that serves burgers dogs, chicken sandwich, fries, sodas at a fair price. Enjoy🙂

I have no words!!! Amazing!! We paddled the river and absolutely enjoyed it until we got to the area where we shared the river with people tubing. Then it was crowded and loud. But it's gorgeous and straight out of a fairy tale! We will be back! And we saw Manatees! Made my daughters birthday extra special.

Tubing is a blast! The way to go is to buy the tram ticket and get your own tubes. Renting a kayak is fun too although as someone experienced in kayaking, it's not easy to paddle upstream. Tons of wildlife to see even though it is crowded. If you aren't swimming at all to get on and off the tram and float takes about 2 hours in total. There are alligators but if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. Most saw were upstream where tubers aren't allowed. Bathrooms are clean and the staff is friendly.

Loved it. Much less crowded and quieter than nearby Ginnie Springs. River is an easy and beautiful paddle. The trail to get to Blue Hole Spring (also known as Jug Spring by cave divers) is very easy. Water clarity there is outstanding. Bring a noodle, mask, snorkel, and underwater camera/GoPro. There is a wooden dock with stairs leading directly into the water. Cost is only $6 per vehicle to enter.

Nice springs, crystal clear water. We went there on a Sunday afternoon. It was packed. The bottom of the spring (the one for people to swim) is full of rocks and it is very slippery. Be careful if you bring little ones. Our 3 year old son loved playing on the stairs, didn’t get into the water much.

Very beautiful. 3 mile kayak adventure into the springs. Saw 2 gators just floating along and several manatees. Beautiful day. Loved that at the end, there was a shuttle to pick you up and take you back to the main entrance

What a beautiful place to go see and walk just to relax and see and learn about the blue hole and head spring where you can swim. The water here is also 72 all year round. The blue hole is only open to experienced divers. No free diving or swimming.

What an amazing place. Water is so blue and perfect. Everyone had the best time. We decided to walk to the drop off place instead of paying 7.50 a piece for the shuttle and it really wasn't that bad. A 25 minute walk both ways but if you need the shuttle it is pretty nice to have I bet. But our teenagers can truck it. We will be back. It was a wonderful experience for sure.

Relaxing day floating down the river. Came on a Wednesday in July. Not crowded. Allow time for the shuttle. Two trips down completes the day. Bring a bungee for couples. Borrow a paddle.

Been coming here since I was a little kid growing up in Gainesville. It's always a pleasure to come back with visiting family or friends to experience it. Especially for the first time.
We did the Kayak rental with the shuttle to the North drop-off. The current was strong but we got to see an incredible amount of wildlife.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back again soon! Also impressive to note how much the park has changed in the 20 years I've been going there.
Everything is well maintained and the appropriate upgrades are being made. Keep it up!

This place is beautiful. It’s a fun 2 hour float at the south entrance that you can see through the crystal clear water. It’s $5 to get through the gate or $2 military. The tube prices vary from $7-20 and then you can ride the tram for $7 or walk the scenic trail for free. The receipt will get you into the north entrance about 10 minutes away for free where you can go to the swimming hole or snorkel over the underwater cave. It’s so fun.
The tube in my picture was $10 and it had a bottom and a head rest. Because the water was cold and I’m a sissy. Lol

Our family gets together for big group floats at least once or twice a year. And it's always a great float, nice, clean water. You always meet people that you can enjoy hanging out with. And wildlife, foliage and aquatic life are always something to enjoy.

My happy place but it's actually real and not just in my head. there really isn't words to describe the absolute beauty in this natural cold spring. Once the sun is at 11am you can witness a color that is rarely seen in person anywhere. The hole for the cavern is more covered than years ago but seems to have stronger flow. Didn't see the managers this year. Math next time

This was yet another amazing experience. The north side of the park is pretty cool. It has some decent hiking trail. The entire walk is shaded and you have different areas throughout the hike where you can sit and rest. There is a nice little restaurant on site where you can get food and an adult beverage and they offer kayaks and floating tubes for rent onsite at a decent price. We took our own kayak and there is a spot close by the launch site where you can park and unload your kayaks or canoes. The water is beautiful and somewhat COLD. The kayaking was great. Most of the area is pretty shaded but you have a long stretch where there is no shade. Watching the turtles in the water as you go down the river is pretty cool. There is a pretty strong current going downstream so coming back up was absolutely terrible but it was worth it.

What a great state park! We headed in the offseason. I'm glad we did. We had seen some videos on YouTube where it is an absolute Zoo during the summer. If you want some exercise start at the bottom at the Darien drop in. Paddle up stream from there about one and a half miles. And you can have a nice leisurely drift back down. The water is so clear so manatees otters and alligator gar.

Love this place! I walked the Midpoint trail and it's 1.5 miles to the ramp for tubing! If you are tubing you might want to consider the tram! On a hot day that is a long hike with your tube JS! Tubing is so much fun here so you must come and enjoy it! All ages! Very safe and lots of fun and relaxation!

Last stop on our 18 day vacation camping trip, we visited Ichetucknee for the very first time. I booked a tandem kayak for the river, and I was TOTALLY impressed with the service. You can call the state park store or visit there to book your river trip. They will offer you different distances (we took the 1-2.5 hr trip) and they drive you to the launch point, provide you with the kayak, life jackets, and oars. They even launch you (I opted to have the "slide" launch into the water). You float downstream, so no need to paddle, just course corrections. You can take as little or as long as you want, as long as you are off the river by 6:00P. When we got to the end, the driver was already there to pick us up. You don't have to haul the kayak anywhere, and they take you back to the parking lot where you started on an open-air tram like Disney World used to have from their parking lots. They even give you a necklace with their number in case the driver isn't there, and you just call them and they come and get you. The trams run pretty regularly though, and like I said we were picked up as soon as we finished. All that for $65 (I got a 10% Veterans discount so I paid $59)- thats for two people since it was a tandem kayak. The river, is absolutely gorgeous, and this is considered one of the premiere tubing locations in the United States. Now, we visited in late October, but I hear in the summer they actually have to close off the gates in the morning because it gets to capacity so fast. We were very happy with the kayaking, and I would recommend going in the fall / winter...

The springs are great but as far as handicap accessible....it is not. There are nice ramps that anyone with a drivers license could back down to but instead there are carts with flat tires and no help from the people you pay to drop you off they sell drinks and food at the country store but you cant take them on the river. And Im not sure what kind of "wildlife you can take home in your cooler" and that's why they arnt allowed but that's ridiculous. I could deal withall that but the lack of close facilities and an easy way for disabled people to get themselves and their kayak to the water make this a no gofor me in the future. Great spings.....horrible layout by the state. Im a FL resident and expected more from my state and my taxes.

Great park. Our first stay here was in 2020 right at the height of the pandemic. Our second stay was yesterday and unfortunately it was only an overnight stay. One day we will be back to enjoy the park for longer than a day. It’s clean and well kept and the sites a pretty big.

Very nice park. Wish the roads were a bit better and things were open to view and walk around. There is no one at the front gate, you just grab your sticky note and go to your site, so if you have any issues or questions no one is there. There is a camp host on site if you need wood or something. Dump station was better than most we’ve been to. Sites are nice and big but all sand (as is with most all Florida parks).

Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park is a true hidden treasure! This park is a perfect blend of nature and culture, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The park's lush greenery, beautiful Suwannee River, and gardens make it an ideal place for a relaxing day out. The carillon tower is a unique attraction.
I am going back for Memorial Day Weekend because the park host The Folk Music Festival for those days and various events and festivals that celebrate the folk culture.
I highly recommend Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park for a day of exploration, relaxation, and cultural appreciation. It's a true gem in Florida!

Intrigued by the charm of Florida's hidden gems, I embarked on a journey to uncover the mysteries lurking beneath the surface. My first stop: the enigmatic Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs. As I wandered through the park, the Spanish moss swayed in the breeze, casting mysterious shadows over the historic statues that dotted the landscape.
But it wasn't just the beauty of the surroundings that captured my attention – it was the sense of history that seemed to linger in the air. The friendly woman at the Park Ranger ticket booth shared information about the park & surrounding area, hinting at the history deep within its depths.
With caution, I ventured further into the park, mindful of the "beware of alligators" signs that served as a stark reminder of the dangers that lurked nearby. Yet, undeterred, I pressed on, drawn to the water's edge where the river hiking trail beckoned.
As I walked, the lush foliage provided a canopy of shade overhead, shielding me from the scorching Florida sun. But amidst the tranquility, questions lingered in my mind: What secrets lay hidden within these ancient trees? What stories had they witnessed over the years?
Lost in thought, I found myself pondering the mysteries of this secluded oasis. And as I continued my journey, I couldn't help but wonder: What happened here?

For a quiet park to camp or stay in a cabin. This is a great place.
There are many areas for picnics, a good playground, clean bathrooms, access to the river and hiking trails, RV sites and camping sites.
Outside of the gates you'll find the tiny town of White Springs, there are a few spots for essentials and groceries. There is also a canoe rental place in the town that allows you to go anywhere on the river & be returned to the site by a van ride. I loved this as within minutes we were back to the park.
We saw many deer each day in the park and really enjoyed the quiet of the area. We walked the trails, enjoyed the river, explored the museums centered around composer Stephen Foster.
The museums are free with admission and while dated, they house a great many pianos that I really enjoyed seeing. There is a good bit of information about the composer. One is a standalone colonial looking building, the other is at the base of the carillon which is being repaired so we did not hear it play.
We drove through the RV & camping area which was very clean and quiet. We stayed in a cabin and absolutely loved it. A big wrap around porch, fire pit outside, picnic table. It was a great hub for our explorations of the area.
For a day park visit, there is a nice playground for the younger ones, you can get down to the river to walk the shore. There are a great many hiking trails that we were interested in but ran out of time to see.
There is an exhibitions area where we thoroughly enjoyed an in-depth look into blacksmith work. The artist created the works while sat and chatted. They answered questions and we got a full presentation in a very relaxed and real fashion. Loved that.
A series of small buildings along a winding road allows for multiple types of exhibitions to be going on at any time. Check the site to see what is in town. I believe these are mainly for weekends.
There is a large pavilion by the river that anyone can use and a canoe / kayak boat ramp that is still being worked on but looks near completion and should be ready for use soon.
This park is also the site of music festivals, so check the calendar before you go, or you may find very large crowds. We hear they are very popular and fun. Looks like a great place to hear music and hang out.
There was also a small gift shop that we did not get around to visiting. There was free Wi-Fi around this building which I am sure is helpful to some.
Loved our visit. Will return.

We rented two cabins for a family gathering and it was wonderful! This the second time we have rented here. The cabins are great! There are wrap around porches, they are clean ans suitable for an active family. The kitchen has what you need including modern cooktops, a small microwave and a dishwasher. The cooktop controls are low so watch out for your little ones.
You can get supplies in town, whatever you forgot. There is a code to get back in after hours. They have great activities at different times of year. These are generally weekends, as far as we could tell.
We got firewood for the pit at the store which was really convenient. Our only disappointment was we hit the between time from converting the fireplaces from gas to electric, so we missed getting to use them.
We had a great time, given the hiking trails, the river, historical museum and bell tower. We found out belatedly that dogs are ok at the campground but not the cabins. We were given grace this one time. It is not obvious in the written materials I read beforehand.
That said, overall it is an awesome state park!

Yeah there's some trails, a playground and a place to launch kayaks. The river is a bit high and fast to kayak with children. There are a lot of things that are damaged and blocked off or taped off. The area to launch kayaks was not great, it's a pretty long way down stairs to get to the water, and the launch itself is concrete stairs going into the river. There are Christmas light displays left up around the park, apparently year round. The campground is clean, and the camp staff are friendly. There are volunteers who help kids do crafts. We saw dear, and apparently there are lots of gopher tortoises around to see. At a visitor center there are bags of things for kids to check out, including binoculars, a book of nature identification for Florida, and net to catch bugs and a little magnified container to put a bug in. The visitors center had one of those Elkay water bottle fillers, which are great. I just really wish the restroom buildings had them as well. There were decent restrooms with men's and women's and each also had two single / family occupancy, which are great if you need to bathe your small children. The park is pretty dog friendly, although you can't take your dog (pets) inside buildings. There are lots of great picnic areas even outside the campground area. There are beautiful pink flowers all over the place in the spring.
The camp sites are spacious. There is only one 30 amp plug in for campers and two standard outlets like in your home that you could plug a coffee maker into with an extension cord for example, if you've ever had trouble with your camper pulling too much power from the 30 amp and tripping the breaker or blowing a fuse.

We camped here for 5 days, our site was big but it was overgrown and it needs a good cleaning, the picnic table was full of dirt, spiders and other bugs and be careful when opening the electrical box, there were several bugs nests and a couple of spiders, while it's a "wild" area, it would be nice if it was cleaned up a little better. Even though it was overgrown, there were openings between sites that take away some privacy. The site was pretty leveled, I only needed to level the passenger side a little bit. Overall I think the park was great and may come back but will try to choose a better site.
Good hiking areas! Kayaking! We also visited the tower and the Craft Village.

We stayed here for two weeks in December 2022. It was central to a number of fresh water springs we wanted to see. It was a nice campground. It was quiet. There were good bathhouses with really hot hot water. (They are however not heated, not a big deal in Florida most of the time but we came during a particularly cold December 😁) There are washer and dryers at the bathhouses but about half of them were out of order when we visited. Also they kayak launch was closed off. The sites were nice and most provided a reasonable amount of privacy. There were woodpeckers and armadillos to see. Watch out for ticks here, we saw a few even in December. We didn't get to see the cultural center while we were there. The town is very small but they do have a nice Dollar General with Groceries if you forgot something. It is also close to interstate 75.

Crickets and minnows are sold at the old store.

We arrived for a one night stay in the campground about 3:30. We had a very hard time finding the “store” where we were to check in. The actual check in process was very easy and quick. We had just enough time to visit the Stephen Foster museum and while there were able to direct another lost camper to the check in building.
Our campsite #44, is a pull through spot. Very secluded. The campground seems quiet, but we are here on a Monday for only 1 night.
The restrooms are clean. Very clean!! The water pressure is good, more powerful than at home. There are 2 louvered screened openings for ventilation. I was afraid the room would be too cold but it was not. The outdoor temperature was 53°. There was a light and heat lamp in the shower area that warmed the bathroom well. Along with the hot water I was actually hot at the end of my shower.
I wish we were staying longer on this trip. I definitely want to come back.

New camper check in procedures!
Great park, this is my second visit here. They recently added new trails, but be aware that if you take the access roads, they may be very wet! The museum has trail maps, but I also suggest downloading the offline Google maps before you travel. I have Verizon and had no cell issues though.
When I was here in 2021 the check-in was at the entrance. There is a new procedure for 2024.
Drive in, go around the tower to the camp/craft store, park to the left in the back side of the museum, follow the signs for the craft store/firewood, and you tell them your spot and name. Too easy (if you know this, I did not, haha).
If you enter the trail from the septic dump, it is dry and well marked, but if you are wanting to go for a mileage, watch your markers (trails are skinny, access roads are wide).
Either commit to the whole trail, or turn back when you achieved 1/2 the distance of your journey. This will ensure you don't need access roads to return, because they may be wet (see pictures).
People are very pleasant, I loved my last visit here, this visit was just as nice!
Enjoy the blacksmith exhibit (also behind there you can access the trailhead), the river gazebo, and the canoe launch, just beautiful!
Also if you geocach, there are a few here, just saying!!
Enjoy!

The ranger station is never open and I found it difficult to communicate and get information even arriving during their operating hours. I actually didn't figure out the tag system until the next day when I walked back to the ranger station and finally saw the signs directing me to a paper tag stuck on an information board. Also, they had the canoe launch closed with warnings that the river was too high even though it was only at 62' and their own sign said it wasn't dangerous until 65'. And I still couldn't even find a ranger to ask about it. The only reason we chose this campground was to use our kayak. Very disappointed. Doubt we'll be back.

An awesome museum - a must-see!
This site is located on the southeast corner of the Robbins Parkway and Oak Avenue intersection. The entrance is south of the buildings. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot in front of the complex of buildings. There is no cost to the museum and there are volunteers inside each of the buildings. You can visit the buildings in any order but I would suggest going to the 3 stories one directly in front of the parking lot first. It has a beautiful foyer, gift shop, and an information desk where you can get suggestions on what you may want to focus on during your visit. The museum is actually a set of 5 buildings focused on different items. You could easily spend hours or days visiting each of these buildings. The main 3 story building focuses on the historical aspect and spans 3 stories. The building to the south houses the Vietnam era. The courtyard in the middle of the building was being used to launch rockets on the day I visited. The two buildings on the east of the courtyard house various displays and some works-in-progress. As an added bonus, there are planes on display outside the main buildings including a B-52, Presidential plane, and more. Overall, it is a very nice museum and a must-see for any aviation enthusiast or American history buff. I highly recommend this for any visitor in the area.

This place is absolutely amazing. Some of the most groundbreaking technological advancements by humankind, and it's free, no one bugs you, and it's all available to you at your own pace/level of interest.
In addition to extremely cool aircraft, there's also fascinating history told through numerous artifacts, dioramas, and displays.
You gotta see it - three HUGE hangars' worth of stuff, plus aircraft outside, and it's freakin' FREE. You might get lucky and see and C5 fly overhead, as well.

It’s an interesting museum with many different aircraft and military memorabilia. The planes are enormous and impressive! If I could improve one thing it would be that they update things every once in a while so that the younger generations can continue appreciating their efforts and achievements. Maybe add a few interactive exhibits, some social media experiences…
I personally like the museum a lot, I just see potential for growth.

What a fantastic exhibit! I never imagined one could fit so many planes in such a relatively small space; however, it’s incredibly well done. My ten year old nephew was with us and he enjoyed sitting in a cockpit so much that he insisted on returning to it before we left. He also appreciated sitting in the helicopter and wiggling the controls. This museum is unbelievably child friendly and accessible . Seeing the famous SR 71 Blackbird was unforgettable! The volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable, the exhibits were clearly explained, and the artifacts numerous and fascinating. The skeletal plane with the paratroopers inside was creepy (in an Intriguing way). This was a day well spent, and I hope to get back there one day.

This place is a great stop for any aviation or military buff. The amount of planes here is amazing. They have some hands on cockpits for the young and young at heart to jump into and play with all the buttons and gauges. 4 buildings in all. We did not have enough time to appreciate all that is here, since we hit this on the way to our destination. Kids enjoyed it and loved their models from the gift shop. If you are in the area and have some time to spare it is definitely worth a stop, and it's free, so why not?!

The wife and I took our kids here Saturday. Our son has lately been obsessed with all things military and with the free admission for all of us, it was an easy choice for an educational and engaging place.
Three of the four buildings on site have at least one cockpit (plane, jet or helicopter) that you or the little ones (and in some cases, all of you) can climb into. Switches, buttons, knobs, levers, and all function in a tactile way that had our kids scrambling to get "just one more turn" at each place. Even our girls were fully engaged in all of it which was a pleasant surprise.
Each building (hanger) has a large assortment of vehicles. Some have jeeps, ambulances, fire trucks, Hummers, all in addition to the variety of planes, jets and helicopters on display.
You may even avoid the gift shop (you don't have to walk through it to leave) if you're really trying to avoid spending money for the day (it's rare somewhere truly has free admission no matter the occasion).
That said, there were some very cool things in there, both for the kids and adults (toys, models, shirts, cups, blankets, books, stuffed animals and other assorted things). A stop into the store is a great way to help support the museum and get a fun item to have as a keepsake (or smash a penny and get the imprinted image on it).
If you don't want more stuff cluttering up your place but still want to support the museum, there are donation boxes in every building.
If you're looking for somewhere for the kids to be able to walk and burn off some energy, this is a great free option. There is a ton to read, a lot to learn and experience and a lot to look at. If you have very little children, a stroller may be a good idea unless you want to carry them. Towards the end, our girls got tired of walking.
Our son however requested that we go back soon. He said it was the best day ever and so cool.
Before we left, we stopped at the playground for the kids to play and jump and climb, swing and slide.
We will definitely be going back sooner than later.

Had a very pleasant afternoon with my grandson who enjoyed it immensely. It's free but they have donation points. The simulated 3d rides at the entrance are as good as any Disney 3d ride (at $10 per person)' and you don't have to wait in the sun for 3 hours for the ride. The variety of planes is staggering, including 3 exterior halls, and plane exhibitions in back of the main pavilion. Highly recommended!

If you have any interest in a subject like this, then it's fascinating. If you have no interest, perhaps a visit here will spark it.

We all had such an awesome time during the annual Native American festival; the performances, the variety of booths with items to peruse and purchase, the hands-on learning stations that taught my d.d and I how to weave baskets, make cornhusk dolls and turquoise-beaded leather bracelets, as well as the many trails, and breathtaking views of the mounds was beyond what I expected. We ended the day with a nice cool down at the museum that had fairly in-depth exhibits and a modest gift shop. This will without a doubt be a yearly event our family will hope to never miss!

This location needs to be deleted. It will send you to no where and just stop in the middle of the highway. There is another monument tag that will send you to the visitors center.

Well worth the stop to view the mounds on foot but disappointed that I was not able to drive through the park due to low height restrictions of 8ft 6 inches.

Well worth a visit to learn about some of the history of the indigenous population.
Johnston–Felton–Hay House is a 19th-century mansion that features ornate furnishings, paintings, marble statues, and stained glass. Visitors can take guided tours and learn about the historical significance of the house, which offers a glimpse into what life was like during its construction. Additionally, for an extra fee, visitors can climb the spiral stairs to reach the top floors of the house for a unique view of the surroundings.
We had a fantastic experience seeing and learning about the Hay House. Our guide, Shy, was bashful about us being one of his first tours, but he was fantastic. He did an amazing job showing us all the wonders of the Hay House, and answering all our questions. It was amazing to walk through living history, and try to imagine what life was like when the house was built. We had an amazing time, and I would recommend this tour to anyone who's interested in historical Georgia or architecture. The additional fee to see the top floors is worth it as well. Climbing the spiral stairs to the top of the house was an experience, and well worth it.

I had the privilege of working at this venue, and it's safe to say that it was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had. From the moment I stepped into the venue, I was greeted with warmth and kindness by the staff, who treated me with kidness and gave me free range of this stunning histroical property. Their hospitality was truly outstanding, and it made my job so much easier and enjoyable.
The venue itself is truly stunning, and I was blown away by the attention to detail that went into every aspect of its design. From the beautiful architecture to the exquisite decor, every element of this venue exudes elegance and sophistication. I was truly impressed by the beauty of the space, and I felt inspired to create some truly breathtaking moments for my clients.
If you're looking for the perfect wedding spot, I would highly recommend this venue without hesitation. The staff's dedication to creating a magical experience for their guests is evident in everything they do, and I have no doubt that any couple who chooses this venue for their wedding will be thrilled with their decision.

Our 8 yo daughter found out about the Hay House, so we stopped on our way up to Helen. Deborah, our tour guide was fantastic and shared so many interesting things about the house. The extra $5 to go up the cupola was well worth it. So cool. The stop exceeded our expectations!

This tour was amazing! I did the special behind-the-scenes tour and it was awesome! Got to look behind every door and see all the "secret" places. The house is beautiful and our guide was so knowledgeable. This was, hands-down, my favorite house tour in years!

We had a wonderful tour of the Hay House. Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. She pointed out so many different things we would not have noticed. I would love to go back when the special tours of the very top are taking place. They do have an elevator for handicap as well as handicap parking.

The tour was great, young man very knowlageable of the house, construction, furniture, art, and invited questions on any topic before we moved to the next room. Even my 8 year old son enjoyed, and asked if we could visit another "old house" , therefore I must give it 5 stars!

One of the absolute best tours we have ever had. The extremely knowledgeable lady that took us through the house was a gifted storyteller. She had stories for every room that were funny and informative. The house was fantastic as well, very amazing rooms throughout the home that will definitely wow you. But without the tour guide it would have been no where near as impactful! We went on the 1pm tour 5/13/23 highly recommended the visit

We visited a house last month. Having visited and toured numerous historic homes, I would say this one is well worth visiting if you are in or near Macon.
The house has several interesting architectural features and an interesting history. From top to bottom, there are seven floors. The tour that we took was the general tour and we saw the first three floors and the basement which is very interesting. Some of the rooms contain furnishings, art, and accessories from the original and second owners. However, some of the furnishings are representations of what might have been there during the time that the first two families lived in the house. This is a very large home and more restoration is in its future.
We would certainly recommend a visit if you are interested in historic homes and beautiful architecture.

Beautiful home. During the excellent guided tour, learned a lot about the former owners of this stately home.
