Grand community-focused performing arts venue open since 2007 with 2 high-tech theaters.
Saw Windham Hill in the small auditorium. The group was great & the auditorium is cozy & comfortable.
The Gallo Center requires patrons to have the Corona vaccination or very recent negative test results so they are protecting us. Everyone I saw was wearing a mask too even though that was recommended but not required. However the state is requiring masks in all counties in a few days.

Modesto is very lucky to have this venue. We were seated in the last row of the orchestra (row X) in the wheelchair spaces and the view was great. I didn't go in the balcony but I doubt there is a bad seat in this theater. Ushers were quick to ask people to not use their phones. Everything was great.

I have been going there with my friend since you opened and we love every show ❤ . Thank you for all the joy you bring to us

Modesto has a beautiful and comfortable arts center. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this jewel and be sure to donate/thank the volunteers.

Very nice theater. It had 3 levels and the seating rows were elevated enough that even a shorter persons view would not be obstructed by the person seated in front of them. Drink and food prices were decent. Just to note when purchasing a drink you will need to purchase an additional spill proof cup. The cup is reusable. I would go back also, encourage others to visit the theater.

I like the Gallo Center.. it's in a safe location...it's clean and there is parking in the area. I wish there was more wine in the cup...lol. Come on Gallo..We enjoyed Drum Line.

I surprised my 85-year-old dad to see the Jersey Boys. So, for safety and not to disturb others, I purchased tickets in the last row up in the balcony in case he needed to get up and out multiple times 🚽😆 surprisingly our seats were perfect. We could see everything and sounded great 👏
Lupe Castillo — Google review
The venue is nice and the theater is beautiful. The only problem is with the drinks. You can buy water, soda, coffee, hot chocolate, beer and wine, but........
The only way you can take your drink back to your seat, is if you purchase a tumbler. Otherwise, you need to drink your beverage quickly before you go back to your seat.
Although, the tumbler is $3, the drinks are not cheap. It's kinda a rip off. Otherwise everything else was fine.

The Gallo Center itself is fantastic. Beautifully built, clean and well maintained. An amazing array of entertainment all year long for all ages. I gave it 4 stars because the concessions is mostly alcohol and strangely caramel corn or nuts. Just not much in variation there. If you're going to offer that much wine and beer maybe some crackers or something would be nice as well. Intermission is a wonderful time to have a little cheese and cracker snack with your glass of wine. Just my thought.

Donny Osmond last night. Amazing show. Fantastic time thank you very much for the amazing time. All the staff were unbelievable in the way they treated all of us , like we were the only one's in the theatre. Sold out show. I will definitely be going again. Thanks for the chance of a lifetime 😊

Well managed theatre. Nosebleed seats were great! Watched Frankenstein Ballet. Grateful there was not a lot of crowd shenanigans. No phones, ushers seated everyone. Security people.. asl interpreters.. a wonderful experience.

Saw the symphony and was absolutely spectacular!! Great to know that Modesto is well rounded and has appreciation for the Arts. Impressive. Had balcony seating and the acoustics were phenomenal!! The views up there were captivating. Yes, you do have to pay extra to purchase an enclosed sipping cup for one to enjoy alcohol during the show, but totally worth it to support the Arts and to prevent from spilling drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Staggered seating throughout the theater. Clean restrooms as well as inside and out or the theater. The building’s architecture is quite grand and elegant. Tons of eateries & bars to try before the show that is in walking distance. Great location and will continue to watch shows here instead. ❤️

I love performing and watching all sorts of Gallo shows. I’ve seen a wide range of shows from Broadway Tours to local theatre, and have been in quite a few shows myself. Gallo Center For The Arts has many Arts Education programs from, YES Company, YES Academy, Gallo Center Youth Academy, Creation Station, to Broadway Days, Masterclasses & Workshops.

Went with my Son and daughter-in-law who took thier 14 month old to see Bluey puppet show. Comfortable seats, good sound, and it didn't appear that there was a bad seat in the theater. Lots of food options nearby. I would definitely go here again

Eberle Winery is a family-run winery located in Paso Robles, CA. It features a modern production facility and tasting room, as well as vast underground wine caves. The winery offers complimentary wine tastings and public tours of the production facility and caves.
One-of-a-kind experience that I imagine is the perfect place to start in Paso. Yes, owner Gary really does hang out around the tasting room, yes, tastings and tours are complimentary, and yes, the wine is awesome! I especially enjoyed the Rouge blend and the Cabernet (of course). Look forward to coming back and bringing more friends and family to Eberle!

We had been wanting to stop here on our business travels, and finally had a chance to. Lovely tour of the cave. They recommend reservations, but we popped in and they fit us in. Great, FREE wine tasting and our tour guide Fiomma, was our tasting guide too. Very good wines. I left with 3 bottles and I desire to come back again!
Lauren Brown — Google review
First make sure you make a reservation as not to miss the most unique experience in the area: the visit to the caves. Lisa guided us through some informative tour and the history of the wine maker. Then Stephanie took care of the tasting and conversation in the tasting room. This was a wonderful experience. Thanks to all staff.

This winery is beautiful, and the staff are amazing--They gave us great recommendations about things to do and see in the area, and were incredibly nice. The cave tour was very neat and informative (and free!) And of course, the wine was wonderful. Will definitely be coming back!

Cave tour and the wine tasting was complimentary. The hostess was very informative and even offered to take our pictures during the cave tour. The tasting deck had such wonderful views of the vineyard. Definitely a place to relax and sip some amazing wines!.

Such a great winery in Paso Robles. Eberle has been here since the 70’s or 80’s making it one of the OG’s. They are known for their great red wines and their caves. You can take a cave tour, which I highly recommend. Tastings are still complimentary, which is truly a rarity, unfortunately, in the Paso area. Stop buy for a tasting and pick up a bottle or two.

We wanted to do some wine tasting and watch the sun set and we did just that at Eberle Winery. Customer service was great, wine tasting tour was very nice. We had a lovely time watching the sun set. Our experience at Eberle was 5 stars. Thank you!

Amazing wines. I have never loved all the white and red wines at a winery before. All were velvety smooth. I was amazed! Very reasonably priced too. The grounds are beautiful. Caves are amazing. Must see. And they give big military discounts. Highly recommended stop if you are in Paso

Made reservations online prior to visiting is highly suggested. Enjoyed a table on the outdoor patio and received amazing service from Jennifer who was running around everywhere making sure our glasses were always filled and gave the best recommendations. Walked away with a membership using my veterans discount of %50 off. Thank you for making our visit a memorable one and can't wait to come back and indulge in more great tasting wines.

Lovely winery near Pasa Robles with a free wine tasting (with a guitar serenade!) and cave tour with a fascinating look at their history and business. The people are so sweet. They also do great charity work- 100% of donations / select bottle purchases on Memorial Day weekend went to veteran related orgs. Just an awesome place.

I've been an Eberle wine club member for several years and didn't hesitate to book our destination wedding at Eberle Winery! Oralia and Cara were amazing event hosts! Our ceremony overlooking the vineyard was spectacular and our reception in the wine cave was so unique and romantic! I highly recommend Eberle for any special event. Their wines are all delicious!
Lori Franklin — Google review
We happened upon this local winery on our way through Paso today. What a lovely stop. Kirk was a wonderful sommelier who introduced us to 7 of the wineries current offerings. We purchased a bottle of the Chardonnay, the 2020 Cabernet and the newly introduced port. Definitely worth a stop. We did not tour the caves, but it sure would be fun to! Worth your time to stop.
Dayna Wells — Google review
What a great experience! It's so hard to decide which wineries to go to by just doing online research, and I'm very glad that we booked a tour and tasting at Eberle. Our guide was really amazing. The tour was very interesting and informative, and it was nice to see such a big production. It's amazing to hear about the history of the winery, and how significant of an impact Eberle had for the area. The tasting area is beautiful, and Eberle has got to be one of the only places around where the basic tasting is actually free. The wines are priced very well too, so it's easy to take home at least a couple of bottles. I do think we've visited some places in Paso Robles where they're doing more interesting things with wine, but everything that we tasted at Eberle was solid. My wife and I would highly recommend Eberle and will stop again on our next trip.

We walked in without an appointment, but we were able to do a tasting with Michael, who was very knowledgeable. Afterwards Michael gave us a tour of the caves, which are worth seeing.
We ended up buying a case of Muscat Canelli.

Amazing experience and wine. Tour of the “caves” was fun and informative, Chardonnay was amazing - got a bottle. They have a cave room you can reserve -need to find an occasion to do so. Highly recommend.

Great tasting and tour.
If this is your first time visiting Paso, this is a great starting place. Book the tasting and tour online. The process is very easy. And the follow up emails are good.
Tasting is free. They have a wide rang of offerings. My personal favorite is Muscat Canelli. (think of it as the sweet fruity dessert Wine for a hot summer day)
The tour to the cave is very fun as well.

This beautiful winery in Paso Robles has caves with free tours and free wine tasting. Nobody does that.
The Tobin James Cellars Winery is a winery located in the heart of Paso Robles wine region, featuring an inviting tasting room with a grand, 150-year-old bar. The winery crafts intense fruit driven wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrahs, Zinfandel, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Dessert Zinfandel.
Tobin James is one of me favorite wineries. There Reseve Chardonnay is fantastic. Can't leave here without a case everytime. There are so many wonderful tasting wines. The staff is awesome, kind, helpful, nice and so much fun to do tastings with. Staying on the property is awesome. The room are fantastic. Very clean. Well equipped it all your needs. What a wonderful experience.

First time at Tobin James and our first stop in Paso. We had a wonderful experience and Andrew made it even more enjoyable! The wines are great, the atmosphere is welcoming, and every staff member was awesome! They truly lived up to their great reviews. I would totally recommend going here if you want good wine and a warm and inviting experience! I was having such a great time I forgot to take any photos of the wines. Also, as a side note- the little birdie wine topper is a must! It chirps when you pour 🐦

We stopped by TJ today for the first time, and enjoyed a tasting with Crystal who was very friendly and informative! She was a large part in our decision to join the wine club. My wife and I sampled over a dozen wines. We had a great experience and left with a few souvenirs. We are looking forward to our first 8 bottle shipment in April, but we will probably be back before then.

Stop by on your way to and from Palo Robles. It’s a big place with country of staff outside seating and picnic area. The manager is very attentive, and the wines are excellent. $20 tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle.

The party events are incredible. 4 bands playing through the night and food galore by over 25 food vendors all night long.

I really wanted to love this place, in fact at first we wanted to stay for two days. It is that beautiful. Our plan was to do a photo shoot on the second day, as there are so many unique buildings, antique fixtures, and just overall lovely scenery. The ladies who checked us in were so friendly too. As Harvest Host members it is 'requested' that we spend $20 at a property, and we always spend much more than that. This particular property, however 'required' that we spend $20 per person. The wines were mediocre, which I could have lived with. What turned us sour on our stay was the bartender. I literally felt as though I was a waste of his time. I tried to communicate with him, but all I ever got in return was, "which one do you want to try" There was no verbal communication of what the wines were like, what they paired well with, or upsell of any sort. At one point the bar tender left us to talk to a fellow employee. I witnessed him whisper to her as he pointed at me and my husband. I could go on but I think you get the picture. We wasted no time leaving.

Just finished my first wine tasting experience at Tobin James… AMAZING atmosphere. I absolutely LOVED Veronica, and her recommendations were spot on. You don’t always find a place that has great wine AND great people. If you haven’t checked them out, I HIGHLY recommend making this a top place to stop if you’re coming to Paso Robles. Added bonus is they are visibly supportive of our nation’s military. Will definitely be back!

I recently visited Tobin James Winery, excited to use a wine passport I earned after completing a marathon. This passport was supposed to grant me a complimentary visit, and Tobin James was explicitly listed as a participating winery. Unfortunately, they did not uphold their end of the agreement. Despite my attempts to resolve the issue, pointing out that other wineries had accepted the passport without question the same day, the staff simply dismissed its validity.
Despite this disappointment, there were some highlights to my visit. A few of the wines were delightful, and one server was particularly helpful, enriching my experience with his deep knowledge of their wines. His passion for sharing and educating was a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating experience.
However, the situation soured again when I tried to leave. I hoped for some understanding or a solution regarding the passport issue, but instead, I met with dismissiveness from the staff. This lack of support and customer service left me feeling overlooked and undervalued.
While I enjoyed the wines, my visit was overshadowed by the winery's failure to honor their commitment and their poor handling of the situation.

We didn’t make an appointment and just last minute decided to stop by and buy wine.
We came at 5pmish (they closed at 6) and they graciously let us in!
We were able to sample 3 before buying their moscato! It was sooo good :0) And the lady was very friendly but I unfortunately forgot her name.
Their main room is huge and the bathroom was really clean!
I would come back here with an appointment.

We had a blast! Rachel, our host, was amazing. We ended up buying lots of amazing wine, and a turtle aerator! This was the last winery before heading back, and we highly recommend it!

A must visit on your wine tasting trip! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing wines across the board. While the trend in Paso seems to be to raise tasting fees, increased bottle prices and higher bottle limits to wave tasting fees, TJ has kept their prices on the ground. If you want a really great atmosphere and wines that are very reasonable, this is the place to visit!

9/18/22 We visited here when we vacationed in the central coast. It hasn't changed since our last visit in May. No masks required. They do reservation for busy weekends and holidays. Very popular winery. The receptionist up front was very nice. We didn't have a reservation but she let us in. Luckily it wasn't busy. The pourer selected samples of what I would like. He was great. The charming and wonderful ladies who rang up the sale were very helpful. Nice surprise was the discount for buying 6 bottles. This is our favorite place to visit. There is a grassy doggie area for the furry travelers.
We stopped here on the way to the coast and back. Lots of free parking with handicap access. Tall shady trees with patio seating. Very friendly and extremely helpful hostesses. They fill in the list of the wines you want to sample and or puchase at the entrance. I came here to purchase specific wines that luckily were available. You take the list to the cashier inside. They get the wines from the back and ring up the sales. They accept credit cards. My last visit here was 10 years ago. The staff are as helpful and friendly as ever. The interior is the same western decor. Their wines are world renowned. This is our favorite winery in Paso Robles. We will return.
L. Consoli — Google review
The location is convenient and good, but there is no winery vibe. I missed the attention of the staff. If you don't ask anything, you won't hear anything. It seems to me that more work needs to be done to prepare the customer for the purchase. Today there are a lot of offers, so it is important not just to give a try for money

Tobin James winery is a Gem in Paso Robles. We tried varieties of Reserve and Red wines. All tasted very distinct and loved them all. A big shout out to Donna, she took great care of us. Vibe of the place makes it extraordinary. Specially loved the bar table decor. Would highly recommend this winery in central coast.
The Forestiere Underground Gardens in Fresno is a remarkable historical landmark featuring an extensive network of underground gardens, grottoes, and courtyards. The site offers guided tours to visitors throughout the year. This hidden gem tells the story of one man's determination to realize his dream through the creation of unique underground mazes and citrus trees. The gardens are adorned with beautiful rose bushes in various colors that add to their beauty.
I have been on two official tours here and I would still pay to do them again. This is definitely a gem here in Fresno and I can't believe it took me til my 30s to go! The history behind this place is so inspiring! They have done a great job preserving the underground space and trees. The staff is so incredibly kind and knowledgeable, each time I have gone I have gotten something new from it. The first time I went was during quarantine so certain parts were off limits, I went again about a week ago and got to see the full tour. They have a cute little gift shop area to get some souvenirs and even the cutest hand made jewelry! You can also buy the citrus from that is produced from these historic trees during the season. :) I will continue to bring friends who visit me from out of town, it's definitely a must see! Each season brings new views as well, in the spring the roses and citrus are in bloom. In the Autumn it's a different energy, yet just as beautiful.

We went last year. Our guide was knowledgeable, patient, and very approachable. (Can't remember his name) The magnitude of what one person was capable of accomplishing, if you look closely, is astounding. Decades of dedication for his vision. All of the staff were friendly. The grounds were immaculate and very beautiful. The rose gardens above ground were lovely. We will go again, absolutely!

Never in my wildest dreams would I expect a part of such interesting history to find in - Fresno.
The story of one man’s dream and never giving up told through underground mazes and citrus trees.
The words and pictures won’t do this place justice. If you’re nearby make sure to spend a few hours learning about this amazing place and how it came to be.
The guides are very knowledgeable. Highly recommend it!

This place is an amazing gem and piece of history. The tour guide was incredible and she was so patient with our kids in a pretty big group. The amazing underground gardens are something to behold. The tree grafting is unbelievable. This is a great story of an Italian immigrant working extremely hard to make their dream come true.
Ryan Smith — Google review
On a really hot day in Fresno it's good to go underground because it's about 10 degrees cooler. The gardens are great but the architecture that this Italian created almost single handed is absolutely fantastic. The labyrinth that he designed was more impressive to me than the gardens themselves and the way that he was able to integrate them.
Paul Maki — Google review
Tour guide was super friendly and nice. Also knowledgeable about the place. I want to taste the fruit on those trees ☹️☹️☹️. I think tour people will buy some fruit from the tree to taste if they sell it. Sadly, they don't. It would also be nice to have a night tour when it's dark 👻. Over all, worth it.

Katie was an awesome guide. It is so incredible to see what one man can do. The whole family really enjoyed themselves which is rare with teens but it's impossible not to be amazed and inspired. One of the best experiences I've ever had! Was meaning to visit long time ago but for one thing or another it didn't happened. This time I actually visited with my military son and my teenager daughter. We all enjoyed this experience and will totally recommend to everyone to visit when in Fresno ♡

How do you even review a place like this? This place is completely unique, like nothing I've ever seen or experienced before. The physical place plus the incredibly inspiring story behind it, the way it just keeps going and going, it's an incredible man-made miracle. Our tour guide was excellent, too - I forget his name but he's in my photos here and he was SO nice, such a great speaker, very knowledgeable, and really made the experience extra special for us. I can't stop raving about this place, it's probably the best and most interesting thing in the city of Fresno. Heck, it's a highlight for the whole state of California. Amazing, breathtaking place.

Absolutely stunning place. Yes it’s pricey but so beautiful and amazing that ONE man dug it all with hand tools. I felt so inspired!! I wish I had come here to visit sooner. Lots of information from the tour guide and it was just wonderful.

Wow! If I could leave a one word review it would be this. I typically don’t love guided tours but Rhanda brought these underground gardens to life with a lively, well informed and thoughtful journey through the wondrous underground works of Baldessare Forestiere. Whatever pictures you might have seen do not do it justice. If you have spare time, the Punjabi market and quick restaurant located on the lot just east is another great stop. We made it a day trip from the East Bay - it was a lot of driving but doable. Wish we had more time to explore Fresno, but we’ll be back. Thanks to everyone keeping Forestiere Gardens alive for the enjoyment of and inspiration to the world. ❤️❤️❤️

Absolutely amazing place to visit! 100% recommend going even if it’s hot outside! We went for a 9:30 am tour, and even when it got to over 100 degrees outside it was still relatively cool down in the gardens, especially once we got down to the lower level. The architecture is incredible, and hearing the history of one man doing it all was so fascinating. Our tour guide was so sweet and incredibly knowledgeable. She was very sweet to my boyfriends sister who is claustrophobic, making sure to warn us before we went through a small space, assuring us we’d be in an open area soon, and offering to have someone guide us back to the gift shop to get some air and water if it got to be too much. Luckily it wasn’t too much and we were able to enjoy the whole tour! We went with our 8 month old baby in a carrier and she had just as much fun as we did looking around at everything. The place is absolutely beautiful and I look forward to coming back with my parents the next time they visit us in Fresno!

Absolutely amazing place; excellent tour guides who are very knowledgeable. You cannot self-guide, so make sure to get a reservation ahead of time if it’s the busy season or weekends. We went on a Thursday and we’re able to get on a tour group happening soon after we arrived, but don’t chance it otherwise. What an amazing story, so many years of hard work, botanical wonder and a historical gem.

We went here as walk-ins without a reservation and got on a tour starting within 6 mins. Our tour guide was Sarah and she was so perfect and made the experience so interesting. The only critique is I wish she’d remind people as we went along the tour to not touch the walls because people started getting lazy, leaning and putting their shoes on the walls as we were standing around. They should also know how to say those phrases in Spanish since over half of our group spoke Spanish.
It was quite a unique experience and we got lots of pictures.
The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is a wildlife haven that offers visitors an opportunity to interact with different animal species, including giraffes and stingrays. The zoo has undergone significant improvements, with ongoing construction to add more exciting features. Despite the pandemic, the zoo remains open for visitors, and Mondays offer an ideal time to visit as there are no long queues or waiting times at exhibits. The safari area is recommended for lunch due to its freshly prepared food and reasonable prices.
It’s a great little zoo! The improvements they are making are wonderful. They updated the dinosaur part which is awesome now! The little water play area was neat but I’m sure gets over crowded when busy. Overall a fun place to spend a few hours and the food is good too.

We arrived on a weekday and it was packed with school field trips. The lines weren’t long to enter for general admission. My family and I were able to walk around in a 3-4 hour time span to see all of the different animal exhibits. Our favorite animal attraction was seeing the bright, and colorful pink flamingos in their natural habitat. It was also quite an experience getting real up close to feed the giraffes.
Overall, it is a beautifully kept zoo grounds. The staff were inviting and didn’t hesitate to answer any questions or help with guidance around the park. My family and I will definitely be returning and getting ourselves a yearly membership.
I would really recommend coming to this zoo!

We love the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. This little zoo has grown and grown, adding wonderful exhibits and valuable family entertainment. We went to see the new exhibit Kingdoms of Asia. This is absolutely worth the visit. The new tiger habitats are large and the animals have space to roam around. The viewing areas are easy to use, wheelchair accessible and roomy. There are more new exhibits coming... I can't wait to see what they do next.

We always enjoy ourselves at the Chaffee Zoo! I especially LOVED the Butterfly exhibit. I was in aaaww to the point of a sore jaw. The holiday decor is BIG & COLORFUL with twinkling lights galore. Magical to the eyes...

There are lots of animals to view at this large zoo. You can pay an extra small fee to touch stingrays and feed the giraffes. You can be really near kangaroos and emu. They just ask not to touch or feed them.
You need a minimum of 4 hours to get through almost everything without rushing. There are multiple areas to take pictures. I went when they were setting up illumniNature so there were extra props to take pictures with.
There are some vending machines, some food establishments and a souvenir shop. I did not get to eat there, but one of the food establishments had a beautiful view near the elephants.
Restrooms are at the entrance once you pay to enter.
For toddler parents: There is a large park near the zoo but no nearby restrooms, and when I asked to quickly use one nearby the zoo. The admission employee said no one could enter until we paid for our admission, even though family members were already at the register paying.
The restrooms by the entrance are not very clean, but supplies are well stocked. One stall even had poop smeared all over the floor, and one of the soap dispensers was broken. The restroom in Kingdoms of Asia area is just one toilet, so it may be a wait, but it is very clean and well stocked.

My wife and I take our daughter to the zoo every year and we LOVE going. The staff is always friendly and the environment is always nice, clean and preserved. It seems like every year we go there is more see than the previous times. Its an amazing family time and beautiful animals to see.

Loved the zoo but getting in was kinda ridiculous. We bought a membership and there was only about 3 families in front of us yet it took almost an hour. When we got to the window it took us about 3 minutes to activate our membership. Not sure what took the rest of the first groups so long.
The zoo itself was quite nice, while a little small. The exhibits were well placed with a lot of areas to view the animals. Would have been 4 stars if we didn't have such a bad experience just getting in.

I take my boys an average once a month here. We live an hour away but this place is always amazing I have never had a bad experience here. They do amazing holiday themed events my absolute favorite themed event was for Christmas. I have never seen a zoo go above and beyond for their patrons. The Christmas lights were stunning they had to put at least a week or more putting everything up, they had a free picture with Santa they also had hot chocolate with some yummy fireball for adults and extra activities for the kids. Even on none holiday events they do wonders. This place is always clean no trash anywhere their bathrooms are always clean and smell good. Their workers are always super nice. Just have zero complaints and that's rare for me. I will continue to have a membership to this zoo! It also beats the San Francisco zoo and that's hard for any zoo to do..

I was pleasantly surprised on how nice the zoo is for being in Fresno. Once they finish the new are at the end of May 2023 it will be even better. We went on a Monday so was very empty, which was nice. It did get hot but there is a decent amount of shade around the park except for the Africa side of the park. Lots of cool animals and exhibits I did not get photos of. The Africa exhibit is pretty incredible and woth the food court right there with a bunch of different options of freshly made food as well as beer/wine options, all set with outdoor seating with an incredible view of the open Africa exhibit; it was pretty amazing. Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area or visiting. No complaints here. Great for kids and adults.

The zoo is a great place to visit. The measure Z money has made this place amazing. Go see the tigers the enclosure is huge and it’s so great to see these animals have room to roam. The Asian animals area is beautiful and the art was selected with input from the local south East Asian community.

Perfect for families and children! This zoo stands out with its newest renovations like it’s Kingdoms of Asia! It seemed like a Disney adventure through Indiana Jones! Kids loved it! Seems like they are constructing other great areas with some areas closed down or shut off.
Big positive was the many shaded areas and places to eat. They had a wonderful large shaded area to have lunch and look at the large Savannah animals of Africa!
Tickets were easy at the kiosk but be aware that parking is smattered and the later you arrive the further the walk to front entrance. Realize that general admission ticket does not include the sting ray exhibit and butterfly exhibit.

Have been here several times and I am happy to see all the improvements they are making. Habitats are much more natural. Less looking through bars. They just expanded their entire Asia section and it's really cool! A few areas are still under construction. It's awesome you can interact with some of the animals. You can walk through the kangaroo pen now. You can feed giraffes, pet and feed stingrays. My only complaint is that both of these activities cost extra. They added a butterfly garden which looks lovely, but this too costs extra. If you don't want to pay more than the entry fee you can still have a lovely time, but just be prepared to dish out some extra cash if feeding the animals is something you really want to do. I fed the giraffes once and it was a really cool experience. Also there is an extra fee of $5 or so for parking for the day. Overall, it's worth a visit.
BlackMairead — Google review
One of the best zoos I've been to. Just the right size, clean, everything worked, staff was friendly, restrooms were clean, food and souvenirs weren't too expensive but most of all every exhibit that was open (a few were closed for renovations) was well organized and the animals looked healthy. We saw more animals close up than I've ever seen at even the San Diego zoo! Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! And let's not forget the stingray petting/feeding and giraffe feeding.
I highly recommend this zoo for a family day trip. Totally worth the time and cost.

I went to see the zoo lights and it was very beautiful. There was a lot to see and some animals were out, such as the flamingo, red lemurs, and stingrays (which you can touch for free). I’m not sure for the butterfly exhibit since I wasn’t able to pass by there.
They had one or two shops open, also the cafe. Overall, the walk is 2-3 hours but I’d say it’s worth because there is so much to see and lots of pictures to take with the lights.

Such a great zoo, if you’re in the area it’s worth a visit.
One of our first stops was the reptile building. We loved it. So many amazing animals to see.
We made our way through the park and eventually began the, “African Adventure”. It’s an amazing area with a lot to see. The sheer size of the area and the amount of animals to see is wonderful. Feeding the giraffes is so worth the price. My son couldn’t stop giggling as the majestic and gentle creatures ate from his hand.
All the exhibits were great, we made sure to check everything out as we made our way through the rest of zoo. I would definitely recommend this zoo to anyone in the area looking for a place to spend a day.
The Winged Wonders Bird Show was another hit for us. Overall a great experience and well worth every penny. We had lunch at the Kopje Cafe/Lodge and while the wait time was a little long and it was a little pricey (it’s a local attraction so obviously prices are a little high), the food was great and staff was friendly.
Again, this zoo is well worth the visit.

We loved the Zoo very clean and well kept. There is a lot of areas for little ones to play and the bird show was fun yet short. If its too cold some animals will not be in display. It took us three hours to walk around and see everything. Very kid friendly and awesome for them to see very different animals close by.

Visiting Fresno Chaffee Zoo was an amazing experience! Every exhibit was captivating, the staff was friendly, and the size was just right. The admission prices were unbeatable, making it accessible for everyone. The Kingdom of Asia was breathtaking, and the African Adventure with the rhinos felt like a journey to Africa. My kids absolutely loved it - it was truly an unforgettable visit!
Nice starting point to our journey. Nice staff and after hours check in and check out was super easy. Nice gravel level pull thru site we stayed at. Check the site for all the amenities they have its really a good price for what you get.

Stayed in an RV here. Excellent sites with fire pit, fairly easy to maneuver inside the park, very friendly and excellent staff. All RV sites come with a picnic table and fire pit. Quiet, friendly park. My ONLY issue was the hot water in the showers took about 5 mins to come on and the water pressure was terrible.

We only stayed for one night and it was totally fine! I do agree the bathrooms could use some updating. When we got our little map from the office, we noticed they had a pizza place on there that said they delivered to the campground. We were exhausted so we decided to just do that. But when I called, they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. It was called Mountain Mike's. I kept saying we were at the KOA campground and he kept asking me what hotel or apartment we were in. 🤣

This is a great RV park and staff was great, but my family picked this for camping and as a camping experience this is the worst KOA I've been to. The campground size was tiny with very little shade. The ground was mostly ants before we even got to any food and it was loud at night making sleep difficult.

Great location - easy off the freeway. All the sites have a lot of grass which was nice as we just came from an Arizona trip where there wasn't any grass!. Nice pull thru sites and the dog run was big and it also had grass. Well maintained. There is a train that was nearby and two trains went through but other than that it was very quiet.

Nice place to stay overnight. Not sure I'd want to stay long-term. Lady that checked is in was SUPER nice and we had an easy pull-through. We didn't really have any issues, but we weren't wowed. The guy next to us had a smoking fire that was all over our rig and no one said anyone. Saw an RV with a boot on it and the owner wearing ankle bracelet. Not something that makes you feel at home.

The staff is incredibly kind and attentive. My family and I stayed in a cabin with no restroom. It was really nice and well maintained. The location is right off the freeway, used to be in the country, now surrounded by a development. With that being said, you get the park feeling while camping very close to amenities. Great experience for a night or two.

The deluxe cabin was a big disappointment. Not clean, sofa was to small, dirty and broken, slider door was broken, coffe pot was filthy. The place needed a deep cleaning ect, ect. Poor location surrounded by noisy home owners. Not a reflection of a true KOA campground. We definitely over paid. Would not recommend the park to anyone.

Nasty restrooms. Filthy broken shower doubles as a sauna because the A/C was not on. Needs paint and maintenance and so much more..... I cannot believe KOA lets them keep their franchise. Do not stay here unless there are no other options and you cannot drive any further. $75 a night for this dump is ridiculous.

The camp wasn't that good but the cats were nice. Some cats wouldn't come near and others would but were still scared. You can pet the cats and they are very soft. If you like cats then this is a pretty good place.

Nice place for transit on a trip. Pool closed in October, restrooms clean and nice hot water. One idea is please put a recycling bin near the camp sink! We had to wash our bottles, etc, then traipse to the other side of the ground to recycle!

Site was a little short for our 44 ft 5th wheel and truck. Luckily, the site beside us was empty so we parked there.
Just a 45 minute drive to the AMAZING Kings Canyon & Sequoia National parks.

Passing through this was a fine place to sleep for the night, but for the price of $70 for just water and electric (when we typically stay at very nice holiday KOAs for the same rate) - we felt disappointed with our stay. The bathrooms were clean-ish, but there were still cobwebs and very DIY. In the men’s room, you would step on loose tile that would squish water up through it. For the price point, we expected professionally renovated bathrooms. Sites are on gravel and pretty close together with no privacy. Within the park there was noise late into the night that sounded like an ice cream truck and we could hear the nearby train throughout the night. In summary, for the experience we should’ve stayed at the Love’s down the road rather than spend the money here.

Just went here to purchase propane and dump the holding tanks, close to home for me. Can tell you though management very friendly and helpful. I saw them serve a camper coming in when I went inside to pay. If going to the Sequoias, would say this is a good place to camp before heading up. Do want to mention though if you are not accustomed to Valley summers make sure your A/C works.

Buck Owens' Crystal Palace is a lively country music venue that also serves food and drinks. Amazing place to dine at. First time me and my wife came here and it was definitely worth it. We got to see the famous Bakersfield sign, and also loved the museum part of the restaurant. The food was heavenly, i had a chicken fried steak sandwich, which was huge, and fries. Wife got a chicken fried steak meal, with baked potato, and loved it. Started off with some onion rings, which were divine. Ended the meal with chocolate cake, and oh boy, im glad i saved room for it. The Kern County Museum boasts an array of exhibits and artifacts showcasing the region's rich history, including its indigenous peoples, pioneer era, and significant role in the oil industry. The majority of the museum is situated outdoors, with various buildings available for visitors to explore. In addition to educational signage tailored for adults, there are also many kid-friendly displays. Visitors can expect a unique and enjoyable experience at this expansive museum, which may require multiple visits to fully appreciate everything it has to offer.
My dad and I just visited and we were both very impressed. We could have easily spent many hours here, but felt that two was about right given our timing constraints. Most of the museum is outdoors, with buildings that you can peek into. They have many kid-oriented signs along with the standard adult-oriented signs.

It is more like a historical park with lots of historical buildings with old furniture moved/rebuilt there. There is also a small museum with interactive exhibits about petroleum exploration and a small kids museum. We spent around 3 hours going through everything. Kids had a great time peaking into each house to see what it looked like in the old times. We were there on a Saturday but no one was at the ticket window so we got in for free.

Their event for Halloween 🎃 this year was great! Not too long of lines to get candy, not too scary for the younger kids, tickets were five dollars each and five dollars more to get a bag for candy. No buckets allowed since they give you the bags and you have to pay per person to get candy. Most of the museums attractions were open to view and walk through. There were some vendors there for food, coffee, popcorn and tacos. They had a projector playing a Halloween 👻 movie and they had some bounce houses for the kids. Parking was a little intense but we ended up getting super lucky with a good spot. Highly recommend for next year if you want to do something other than stay in or go house to house.

I hadn't been to Pioneer Village in about 3 decades. I had a friend visiting from out of town and decided to take him there. I was delightfully surprised to see how much it has changed and grown. At least from my faint memory from elementary school! Even though he's not from Bakersfield, he also quite enjoyed the experience.
I loved the interactive displays to show how the equipment works. The transportation exhibit is really cool. I loved being able to see such a wide range of vehicles from different eras.
It was very peaceful to meander through and enjoy the park-like environment on top of seeing all of the houses and buildings.
The only "complaint" I have is that I didn't have access to quite a few of the different buildings since I was in a wheelchair. I understand limitations due to the nature of the historic nature of the buildings, but I was just a little bummed out.
Otherwise I hope to introduce more people to this lovely little haven. 😁

Great place to stop outside of Bakersfield. They have a cute indoor produce stand with a large variety of fruits and some veggies. The cherries were some of the best I’ve ever had. Homemade pies in variety of flavors and sizes, fresh popcorn and a large area of pickled items, jams, sauces and honey (the cactus honey is amazing)! There is also a small deli area where you can get some hot sides or a sandwich. Seating outside on the patio or garden area to eat. They offer a u-pick, but I did not check that out. They also offer fuel pumps with both gas and diesel. If you need to fuel up, stretch your legs, grab some fresh produce or a bite to eat, this is your stop! The customer service is friendly and everything was clean!

While being there they had a cherry pie eating contest and the pie was amazing! I also had a BBQ blueberry brisket pie and wow, it was soooo good. There were kid activities like slides a big air filled bouncer, animals and more. My kids had a blast. My favorite part was picking the fruits, the fresh picked berries are to die for. Their gear for the chilly weather was awesome (the booties and jackets were really nice). Out guide Skip was awesome with my 10-year-old kids, and we all had a great time! Highly recommend.

Great trip for first timers! Guides were knowledgeable and fun. They took the time to educate us first before our trip. Isaac was an awesome leader. My 11-year-old daughter and I did the ‘mild tour’ with some class 3’s. Felt safe, nothing too crazy. Would highly recommend and definitely do it again!

Man! It was a true privilege to run Forks of the Kern. Stunningly beautiful canyon with raucous rapids that’ll keep you on your toes. At camp and on the water the guides were a *solid* and well-oiled machine. They were super thorough talking us through what to expect from the upcoming segments and adapted lightning fast to sticky situations. On land, they outdid themselves with the meals and fun campfire. My family had an incredible time. Much appreciation to Jackson, Miles, old Pat, Sven and Jamie for making the trip so special. Mega thanks to the drivers, mule packers, guides, and organizers who made it all happen! And thanks to the tropical storm for bringing the extra injection of water at the end of August

My 2 sons and I went on the 130pm rafting trip. Byron was our Guide, it was just my boys and myself on the raft. He did a great job. the ride was awesome and he let my boys take turns steering the raft. We asked for him to put us on the hardest parts and he did. it was everything we hoped for. The whole crew was great. You could tell they loved what they do and enjoyed working together. Even the bus ride was fun... Thank you for giving myself and my boys a memory we will never forget.

Adam was a stellar boat captain. The whole team was to notch. Personalities and guest service beyond expectations. From the instructions given by Bailey to the cool bus ride up and down.... the perfect weather and great company... it was an amazing experience. So glad I picked this company. It was a last minute decision about 3 hours before the trip and they accommodated us so quickly. Never have gone before and now I'm ready to go again and again. Thank you to a great team! Adam, I didn't have cash and I wish I could have left you a huge tip! I'm so sorry! You deserve so much!

Had a great rafting experience. Guide was fun and friendly, very smiley dude. I was hoping for a bit more action but it was my first time in a river so it was a nice start. There were two kids in my raft of 6 plus guide. It didn’t present any issue that one did not row. None of us were especially strong accept our guide and I never felt as if any of the 6 boats on our group were ever in any danger at all.

my brother and I took my dad white water rafting for his 60th birthday and we all had the best time!! The guides were very professional and made us feel comfortable and confident that they really knew what they were doing. Plus they were so much fun, personable, and gave us some awesome recommendations for hikes. Our guide was Miles and he was the best! He really read our skill level and stoke level and made sure we had a great time. We will definitely be rafting with this company again in the future.

What an amazing day! We did the one day trip and it was so much fun. The rapids were great and the guides were awesome! Sven rocked it. He took cautious first time rafters and made rafting enthusiast. They were "riding the bull" and all in by the end of the first run. We all felt safe with Sven in charge even taking on the big ones. Overall I think the entire crew emphasize safety without scaring rafters and that made this mom very happy. This was a great adventure for my family and friends. I highly recommend Kern River Outfitters

We had a great time. Our guide was Mary from Montana. All the guides were nice and very knowledgeable. I had been rafting before but 2 others on my raft were first timers. The guide leader was cool even when she got water splashed back on her on the bus (first time for her). I remember Brian and Cameron and sorry I forgot the other guides names.

We had the most amazing time! Our guilds Adam, Miles and Bailey were absolutely awesome! They were knowledgeable and so fun! We went with our teenagers and even they thought it was “SO much fun!” Double compliment from a teenager! This company made everything so easy and had the best customer service! I can’t recommend enough! We are working on planning another trip!

Indeed, it was a fantastic rafting trip. We chose the half-day Upper Kern Class IV trip. This was the first time they could run the Upper Kern in over a month, and the current was perfect. It was extra splashy and a total blast! Sven was our guide; he was highly experienced, knowledgeable about the river, and so much fun. We can't wait to go back.

The trip was awesome - we got a little bit of everything on the Class IV Premium Half Day! Our Guide, “Big Water” Blair, really built up the confidence of our raft of 6 inexperienced paddlers and we made it through all 5 big rapids successfully. We got to take a dip in the river in one of the calmer sections. Even for a short trip, we got some really exciting rapids and would highly recommend this trip and KRO to anyone. On top of the fun trip, the Kern was beautiful with the trees along the river and the mountains in the background

This is what I also shared to Yelp.
We went out here for a bachelor party trip and we’re lucky enough to get Gabe aka Nick Cage aka Ashton Butcher as our River guide. If you’re somewhat of a rowdy bunch and want to get into the thick of the rapids, don’t mind getting wet and are looking for more excitement than the normal trek, Gabe (Nick Cage) is your dude. We were all really pumped on the trip. The company was very professional even before we booked our trip, upon arrival, and even with us wanting to go the extra and get kinda gnarly on the river, Gabe (Nick Cage) made sure that we all knew exactly what to expect and what to do depending on what could potentially happen next so we were all in good hands (Nick Cage) and safety was still priority #1.
I recommend doing the full day (8 hour) trip. We booked the upper Kern but due to weather got switched to the lower kern which I heard was better. The first trip through is almost like a taste test to get your bearings. We stopped for a rock jump/cliff jump which was chill and then later stopped again for a mid day break. I honestly felt kind of tired and already a little sore at that point but the deli sandwiches were solid and once we went for round two you’re already prepared for what’s to come but with slightly different conditions so our group was all about going harder the second time which really made the whole trip a blast.
(Side note) I haven’t done river rafting since high school and I’m 37 now so I’m not seasoned in doing this by any means.
Anyways the conversations during the mellow parts of the river were good, we got soaked going for it, floated down the river when it was chill and paddled hard when we were in the thick of it all thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Overall it was an absolute blast and I plan to definitely come back at least once a year to do this same trip.
I highly recommend this company. You won’t be disappointed.
HUGE THANKS Gabe (Nick Cage/Ashton Butcher) and Kern River Outfitters. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.
Came here in 2017 with our kids, and returned without them today. Google it to be amazed before actually seeing it. We were fortunate to arrive on a clear day, and right as a train was approaching. It's cool to see the engine windings the train around the mountain so many times, and see the caboose spiraling along! It's a short stop off the highway.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve
State park
Nature & Parks
Gardens
State nature reserve within the Mojave Desert has 8-mile hikes & a wildflower season March to May.
The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a wonderful destination this time of year. The flowers, chiefly among them the California Poppy, are in bloom. The California Poppy is the state flower. Though not as plentiful as other years during a super bloom, there were still large patches of the wild growing flower, which made for a sight to behold, and lots of great pictures. Many people parked along Lancaster Road for free, we decided to wait in line to park in the lot, and paid the $10. It is important to note that while in the park you need to stay on the trails, so by parking on the street people ventured off to stand among the flowers. I think it is important to be careful of the land, but it is really neat to be surrounded by the golden flowers. The trails in the park are fairly easy to travel, though some sections were a little steep. The use of a stroller may be possible especially on some of the paved paths. There a lot of restrictions including: No dogs (unless a service animal), do not pick the flowers, no drones, eat only at the picnic area, no bikes. For more information check the parks website. The advice I would share is to be prepared for the wind, drink plenty of water, and lookout for rattlesnakes, as we did see one.
John Hatch — Google review
It wasn't "super bloomed" on this Easter Sunday but it was picturesque and there are lots of paths to walk through. Some areas had better pockets of poppies that made for better photos when close up.
Saw a bunch of little lizards, no snakes. And bugs, so bring bug spray along with sunscreen and water of course.
If you want to save the $10 entrance fee, there are really great viewing areas along the street before the preserve that had bright patches of poppies. Many people were doing that.

I went here for the first time and we liked it. We loved that the trails lead you back and no chance to get lost. Though cold, there are flowers especially on the side that does not have much wind. It’s beautiful. Fresh air. Greatfull to experience nature.

I have wanted to visit the reserve for many years now, and it didn't disappoint. The poppies were in bloom, carpets of flowers everywhere. Truly beautiful. I hiked all of the trails, north and south. There's paid parking, restrooms and a visitor center. It can be very, very busy on weekends during the blooming season, but well worth the visit.
Mick Calarco — Google review
Incredible hiking trails full of all of the wild flowers you could imagine this year! We got there at 730am and the park was already busy. $10 to get in and worth it in every way. Definitely stay on the trails as to not damage the flowers or disturb any wildlife.
Emisis — Google review
There's no puppies this year but if you love nature you still enjoy visiting this park. You will be amazed by the variety of other flowers you will see. The tiny tiny chamomile gives the hills that vibrant yellow color that you will love.

Beautiful park. We went in February end and there were no poppies and the visitor center was closed too. I heard it opens in March and the flowers start blooming in late March. So, don’t visit before that for watching poppies. But now is a great time to do hikes and watch all the scenic hill tops
$10 to park

An amazing place for a date. Nice scenic drive, beautiful rolling hills and gorgeous flowers! 10/10 fully recommend.
There are a LOT of bugs so I would bring bug spray. Also plenty of hiking trails ranging from easy to difficult, so if you are into hiking definitely bring hiking gear.

We flew in all the way from Washington to see the poppy fields. When we got to the reserve, we didn’t see any poppies, but there were poppies blooming out side the reserve. If you go east on Lancaster road, about a mile away from the reserve, you will see an unmarked open parking on the right. You won’t see any poppies from the parking area, but if you follow the trail after you park and keep walking south toward the valley you will see a huge field of poppies and some pink flowers blooming all over the valley. It was an unforgettable sight! There are also other poppy fields that you will see along Lancaster road if you keep driving east, but the poppy fields that hidden in valley is the best and the most picturesque!! P.S poppy fields and valley has no shade, so make sure to wear a hat or put on a lot of sun screen and bring enough water.

Poppy's were not in complete bloom but absolutely beautiful to see the hills colored in yellow and orange. Highly recommend stopping by and doing the walk around the reserve. The staff is incredibly friendly and plus we even caught some of the eclipse there

I overall enjoyed this place. The hikes were not very long. The incline was about 2% grade. Now to see the poppies in Bloom, it would depend on the weather. The poppies are sensitive. When I went, just before Spring, in late March, It had rained a lot causing the poppies too Suffer, due to lack of oxygen. So, as a warning look on their live webcam first or ask the ranger station if you can get a live person and ask them the conditions. The staff mini ATV vehicles riding around, but they seem to have missed many holes on the pathway that need filling in regularly. Good luck. 🙌🏼😅👍🏼🌅

No poppies and not the friendliest bunch. We did have our dog with us and were told she couldn't leave the parking area, so we weren't able to even use the picnic area because it was up a trail away from parking. So we tailgated in the parking lot and a delightful volunteer told us just be sure you don't leave a mess. So trip was more a super-bust than a superbloom.

April 2024 is supposed to be fully bloomed season for poppy but they didn’t get this year. Please check before visiting this place.

First went here to watch the superbloom in 2023, and I was MIND BLOWN. Not just because of the flowers but because of the miles and miles of undulating hills, clean air and tranquility. You HAVE to visit, be it during spring when the flowers are in bloom or any other time of year!

I think last time we were there was more poppies but this time because of the rain or cold weather was not that much poppies that we expected, but other than that was a nice experience! Try to go afternoon around sunset to see the sunset and skip the traffic! The bathrooms were so dirty, try not to go. The parking is $10, which you can park of the road and walk up there if you can, in overall was nice!
This scenic park with prehistoric rock formations has been the backdrop for many movies & TV shows.
4 words: "Out of this world!"
I can see why some movie sets were taken place in this terrain. It absolutely has the desert, futuristic, and alien feel. I love how the rocks erupted out of the ground. The place wasn't quite as busy during the time we were there. Our children had a blast climbing the steepest rock. My only wish was that we brought better shoes. Regular shoes don't offer enough grip, so I highly recommend hiking shoes which makes for a much less strenious climb.
All-in-all, an excellent place to do some rock climbing and take in the scenery.

Rocks pointing out the sky. Didn’t check scientific background but, definitely, it must be chaotic when it had happened there. No problem in parking. No entrance fee or parking fee. Restrooms are near around. Climbing the rocks is not hard. The trail around the rocks is recommended.

Wow ,such a visual treat visiting Vasquez canyon . Driving within Santa Clarita through local roads via Sierra highway felt like driving in the countryside with ranch houses and exquisite skies in the evening peeking the mountains as I drove. We planned during sunset time to look these rocks and the experience is satisfying and amusing. Don't hesitate much and plan if you all want to visit here and I strongly recommend to visit during sunset to avoid heat temperature and ofcourse doing a trail is worth. I am so lucky to visit this place during Full moon where the moon looked beautiful in the rocks and is bigger. Watching the moon itself is a great feeling in the nature. If you are in Santa Clarita don't miss this place.

We did the short Nature Heritage trail. It is a bit hard to follow because people have created several smaller trails, so you have to pay attention, but it really isn't that bad since there are several markers. The rock formations are gorgeous. We discovered that it's easier to climb to the top of the rock formations near the access road from the rear and not from the side that faces the gift shop and museum. It's a vigorous climb up but it's safe enough because the rocks aren't very crumbly. The view from the top is breathtaking. We saw a hawk fly closely above us. Just beautiful. The gift shop is very small but has some jewelry and clothing among movie related knick knacks. There's a good amount of parking available.

The Vasquez Rocks Park is one of our favorite places to hike around in Southern California! The views are out of this world and you can choose how breezy or difficult your hike will be. The terrain inspires curiosity of what it would be like to stand on another planet. Pretty awesome to note that The Flintstones movie and many other films were shot onsite. The welcome center and museum is also a fun place to explore. If you are close to the area be sure to check out The Vasquez Rocks!

Such a unique park with wild rock formations, along with some old history and legends to go along with them. The park has FREE admission and parking. Once parked, simply get out and explore! There are really no limits as to where you can go which leads to the adventure aspect. There are jagged rocks of all shapes, sizes, and various hiking paths all throughout the park.

This review is for Vasquez Rocks Trail which was a ~3.3 miles round trip that took ~1.5 hours to complete.
Trail was wide for the most part with some narrow sections. A few steep inclines throughout the trail. Follow the trail posts! Stunning views from beginning to end!
Free parking inside the park or outside on the street. If you're lazy to walk a short distance to the rocks, you can actually park next to the rocks.

Step into the planet MARS, where the surrounding feels like you are in another planet. This iconic park is a must see, hike and walk around. The absolute best time to go is after it rains, the blue skies and clouds along with the rock formations make it a spectacular view. If you plan to climb up the rocks, make sure to wear proper hiking shoes, it can get a little slippery and make sure to hold on to something. If you make to the top, the views are stunning, I suggest to sit and let the time pass and enjoy the moment.
There is plenty of parking when you enter the park and the end where the rock is location. There are also potter potties if you need to use the restrooms.
Highly recommend this place!

The area is crawling with lots of animals like squirrels and possibly coyotes. People hike here or do photo shoots.
Easy to access. Worth a visit especially if you want to see a filming location

I found out by chance, so I went hiking with my puppies, and it was a very good hiking road.
First of all, the natural scenery was excellent and it was even considered phenomenal.
I was able to go inside and park, but I blocked the words I went to, so the place to park the trailer was narrow.
It was nice to be able to look around a place like this for free and it was a very useful time, I strongly recommend it.

Vasquez Rocks is featured in so many movies in Hollywood for a reason, it is breathtaking to view the rock formations that surround you from the plates shifting below. The jagged edges pointing at an angle to the sky is just amazing. It does look like another planet. There are some Petroglyphs on some of the rocks, but be careful for the fake ones.

Had to make the Trekkie Pilgrimage to these hallowed grounds. Went with an awesome hiking group that took us around the many winding trails surrounding the iconic rocks. I came here because I heard BTS film their music video for on here. I’ve been watching it a lot and I think it’s pretty amazing that they filmed their music video for that song if you’re a BTS army and have watched the video or haven’t, please go watch it. You will recognize the location and the song itself is One of the hardest, BTS songs to sing. But I’m sure if you’re an expert, you’ll get it down. This free history park, donations accepted, is an excellent stop for a good sample of military aircraft. The highlight is the SR71 and A12 aircraft parked right next to each other along with an intact engine on a cart along w a D-21 drone . Excellent signs and history details abound. Bring water, this is the desert and it can be hot.

Blackbird Airpark in Palmdale California is a beautiful site. We visited on a day when it was closed…it’s only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday…but we were able to walk around the outside fence and still get a nice look at the collection of aircraft history. Loved seeing two SR-71 Blackbirds next to each other along with U2 Dragon lady version. They have. 747 on the end of the park that NASA used to fly the space shuttles. Super cool to see in person! Lockheed Martin Skunkworks is located just down the road on Sierra Hwy as well. The town created some amazing aircraft just outside of Edwards Air Force Base. Be sure to give it a visit sometime!

I was looking for things to do while in Lancaster/Palmdale one weekend, and stumbled across this place on Google maps. I drove down and decided to check it out after some other errands I had to run, and it was well worth it. I spent an hour or two here, most of which was talking to the staff, volunteers, and veterans that were hanging out in the air conditioned gift shop. Needless to say, I loaded up on patches and coins before checking out the aircraft. Speaking of them, the static displays were well-kept and the park was clean. Definitely recommend checking it out, especially if you are an aircraft enthusiast.

Didn’t realize it would be so big. Technically the blackbird park part is small, but attached to the Palmdale operated portion of the museum. They are open at the same time and both free. Nice amount of shade and well designated paths. Really awesome collection of original aircraft that have operated at Edwards and elsewhere.

My dad's favorite plane.
Whenever I drive by I always think of him.
As a kid he would take me to the annual airshow at Edward's Airforce Base in Mojave and boast about how the Blackbird was the biggest and baddest of its time.
Pretty cool to see this (now decommissioned) plane up close and personal.
The volunteers are polite, professional, and knowledgeable.

We stopped by on the way to Vegas. It’s a good 2.5 hour drive from San Diego and was a good break. It’s along Route 66 nothing but plots of dirt land.
Depends on where you look, the hours listed may be different and I read that visitors come and the gates are locked. But I saw somewhere that they open at 7am and I emailed to confirm but never got a response. We took a chance and got there 8:45am. Surprisingly they were open with a sign that says “Welcome come on in”. It’s a wire gate with a latch that you let yourself in. We spent a total of 15 minutes.
It’s just a bunch of glass jars, antiques and iron works. Saw an old rusted cash register, sewing machine, hood caps, random various items large and small, high and low. Very photo worthy from all angles.

An incredible and iconic place on Route 66!
You gotta make sure to plan a visit here because everything is absolutely crazy (in a good way).
The place features a huge collection of bottles lined up in vertical poles and decorated with bizarre items, which thanks to the sun give very nice colors and shadows.
There is a big parking space in front and the entrance is free, although a small offer is appreciated for the care that everyday is put in this place.

We visited Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch in May, 2023. I gave a five star rating not because it was the best place ever. No, it was because of the uniqueness of the place. When we stopped, it didn't see like anyone was around. But they had a sign to open the gate and visit.
We didn't stay all that long since we were really pressed for time since we stretched ourselves thin that day. We walked around and took pictures. I was amazed with the artistry in thinking to create such a place.
We stayed for a few minutes and enjoyed this magical little place. Then we close the gate behind us and were gone almost as fast as we arrived. All I can say is that if you are driving by, and maybe doing Route 66. You really should take the time to visit Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch. It's unique and interesting. I gave it five stars because of that.

Beautiful open air museum made of about 200 large metal pipes holding colorful glass bottles in the shape of trees. It was the work of Elmer Long (passed away in 2019) who collected all the bottles in the desert with his father. The entrance is free but you can leave a donation (there was nobody at the time of my visit).

Absolutely fantastic! Found this place through a Google search of what to do near Adelanto california. It steered us here, and we didn't know what to expect. Driving up, it was clear why this place is so interesting. Had a nice chat with Brian who is the current caretaker of the place. It's obvious that he cares about the story of Elmer.. we spent a long time walking around again and again. You see something new each time you walk around! We left our own wine bottle with Brian, hoping it ends up on a new tree. Definitely going back here-- it's an easy drive from Vegas and well worth the time!!

Definately not what I expected. There is no shop, no employees, no one to greet you. You park, enter a gate and look around. Would I stop again, probably not...but it was a fun little adventure off the beaten path that allowed us to stretch out legs and goof off a bit. Oh, and the drive to it reminded me of scenes from "Rat Race".

Never met a man who’s so disrespectful and impolite and Ignore me just because I have 15 mins before close time. His name is James . Super disgusting and disrespectful. I had the guys that fix the beers Sergio before him . They called him and he walked up and said I’m not serving you. What kind of employee does this: he hid behind the bar after asking his name multiple times .

We were there Saturday September 28th, 2019.
10 dollar cover charge with players card. Limited seating and the BOE (Best of everything Band) was great. DJ Gary is one of the better old school DJ's that you will find.
We had an Excellent night out! Will be back to visit soon.

Nice lounge, dancing music - mix of Latin music and r&b. (Went on a saturday night 1130 to 130) Drinks are very weak. Go to rock and brews first, they have strong, good drinks.

Horrible. Went for what I thought was a free concert then found out we had to pay a fee. Super Small area. I was willing to pay the fee but then was told that I was not allowed in because the dress code doesn’t allow sandals without a heel strap… RIDICULOUS!!! It doesn’t even say anything about their dress code on their website OR at the place!!!!

I am having a bad experience right now. Waitress Ibeth spilled drinks on us just because she got distracted by saying hi to her friends ..even tho she brought the drinks we didn't ask for. It's been 30 min and we haven't had what we asked. We complained about it with "Jorge" twice ... he did NOTHING about it. Don't come to this place. They charge you to enter and for the table that is not even worth it.

I can't say enough about how TERRIBLE this place was. What a waste of money!! Those teenage looking managers were on a huge power trip and were so rude,They desperately need a course on customer service. I Celebrated my 40th birthday with a huge group and had to pay $20 a person just to enter another $50 just to sit and $8 for each little 1/4" shot in a Dixie cup. $300 later they CHANGED rules half way through the night to force masks WHILE we were all dancing. I called ahead to reserve a table and wasn't told any of this before hand. Such a disappointment

Good place for live music and to associate with others or get togethwr with friends. Good waitress. Not enough bartenders and the bar is too small for the actual needs of crowed. Drinks are served to perfection. Not all bartenders are good but the times ive gone they been really good.
Shopping-mall chain featuring a variety of brand-name & designer outlet stores.
A lot of good options to shop - Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Crocs, CK, Polo, Michael Kors etc.

Amazing deals here in the Outlets so many stores to choose from and most stores have a discount app you can download and save $$$ this guy helped me sign up and save 15% off the total on some shoes.

All I needed was to use the restroom but they lock them all at 7pm. Talk about human suffering.. The stores seemed quite lovely but I didn't get a close enough look since i was too distracted by my inflated bladder and the fact that if i tried to empty it I would be labeled as an s offender. So I went to chili's across the street. My dog liked walking around the lot tho.

First time at the Barstow Outlets it was Pretty Cool, there is a lot of stores to choose from like Cosmetics, Van's, Calvin Klien, Nike, Coach, Sketchers ect 🛍🛍 .... Also we Loved how they had Multiple Vending Machines and Water Sprinklers for the walk around to the stores, they had nice AC units in all the stores so that was nice too🤗🧊... We went to the Food Court buuuuut I wish it was as nice as the other Stores🤔... its Outdated 🏚🙁🙁 and not too good of food it's like old school bowling alley food only way to describe it lol 🥣 but the Employees were nice and Professional so they deserve to serve Amazing food especially for the prices of all the other stores, the food court should be updated 🙌💯 Other than that no complaints it was a nice trip and nice views but bring extra money it's pricey but they also have clearance racks, they are just as good👌😎 Highly Recommend but bring your own snacks if your craving healthy until they update the food of course 🤞🤞😁🛍🙌

I visited here on our way to Las Vegas. The number of shops and discount rate was good. Actually, I got a pant and jacket at 75% off in CK.
The downside is that the area where the restaurant is located is far from the main shopping area.

Great experience at the Outlets. Be sure to stop at the California Visitor Center for freebies, coupons, flyers, maps, and compassionate customer service. All of the stores were clean, organized, and staff was friendly. Good way to walk off that Tommy’s Burger and fries from across the street.

I stopped there for 2 reasons it is close to Tommy's original burgers then I go in to buy shoes! They do have a great place to buy kitchen utensils but I've never needed any it's a fun day to shop if you just want to go and look! Times when I do go there just to look walk around with people from out of town I always find something in the shops.

It was Saturday morning. As I was entering Sketcher store a lot of older Korean women. Its hard to try those shoes on when it gets too crowded. As the minutes pass by. I thought I was in Korea. 90 percent of people there was Koreans. Then I saw the 2 buses full of them. I did not find anything because it too crowded and they hang around in the middle of walk way and dont want to move if you say excuse me.
They just play deaf and ignore you. I guess they own the outlet. Coach is my favorite and seem to have a good discount. I like sketcher. Nike and michael kors. But Id rather shop at Outlet at Tejon which close to my place.
Calico is a deserted town situated in the Calico Mountains of San Bernardino County, California. It was established in 1881 as a center of silver mining and rapidly grew into a thriving settlement with hundreds of mines and numerous drinking establishments. Over time, the town lost its importance as mining activities dwindled, eventually leading to its abandonment.
Big Bear Lake, a small city in Southern California, is nestled on the shores of the picturesque Big Bear Lake and surrounded by the rugged San Bernardino National Forest. It's a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts with its Bear Mountain and Snow Summit ski resorts, as well as its mountain trails. The town offers a charming village with boutiques, gift shops, and restaurants. The area's stunning landscapes have made it a sought-after filming location for Hollywood producers.
Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a large sanctuary that provides shelter for various wildlife in need and helps them recover before releasing them back into their natural habitat. This impressive zoo offers visitors an up-close view of animals that they may not have seen before, such as the snow leopard. The bear exhibits are particularly impressive and allow visitors to get closer to these magnificent creatures than ever before.
Amazing little zoo!! Didn't expect a whole lot going in and boy was I wrong. This intimate little zoo allowed us to see these animals way closer than expected! Went on a weekday, so it wasn't very busy. All of the exhibits were great, but the bear exhibits truly stood out. I have never been able to get that close to a bear before. It was truly magnificent. The thing that puts this zoo ahead of all others I have been to is how closely all of the animals can be viewed. Also my first time seeing a snow leopard. Definitely recommend!

We love the new Alpine zoo. Heads up though- the gift shop is closed due to the county COVID order. This may not affect too many people however our kids love to shop the stuffed animals as they’ve done every year.
All of the indoor exhibits are also closed. However, still a great time walking around, watching the animals and occasionally hearing some insights from zookeepers as they feed the animals.

An inexpensive adventure to take in few bears, birds, and a variety of other mountain type animals. Was a bit of a warm day and the animals weren't that active. Recommend going in the morning. Heard some of these animals were recovering. Would have been great to read some background on them. My 2 year old spent half his time playing on the playground equipment 1/2 way through the enclosure. Had a nice souvenir shop. Very nice employees throughout the zoo 👌
Michael Brandin — Google review
Small and cute zoo, we finished in less than an hour. The highlight was the shiny racoon! I also love the QR codes that lead you to the stories of the animals. Although kids there were a bit out of control, pushing people aside so they get a better viewing spot, howling to the wolfs and stuff, while the parents just stood there and took videos. Please respect other people who also paid to enjoy the zoo.

This is a small zoo/animal rehabilitation center but my kids loved it. We came in January and were still able to at least see all of the animals. It's clean and the animals seem well taken care of. There is a nice picnic/play area on the opposite end of the entrance with tables and a small playground. Decently priced especially considering the money supports animal rehab.

Very nice and well maintained small zoo. I remember coming to Big Bear and seeing this place near the ski place many years ago. I think it used to be called a sanctuary before, now labeled a zoo. Everything is new and the animals appeared to be taken care of. Nice place to visit with the kids when in the area.

We enjoyed our visit here. Yes, it's small and yes, the enclosures are way too small for the predator animals like the Mountain Lion & Coyotes. But it's clean and there is a variety of animals to see. The staff were nice. It's a little pricey, but the money goes to a good cause!

I loved seeing the animals!!!! My kids and I saw a lot of animals we've never seen before, up close too was so cool!!! There were a couple animals that didn't have a description or info on them I was disappointed about that but nice Lil zoo with a cute kids play area :) we were there for ì'd say an hour ish? And omg we saw a blonde racoon!!! Lol

Enjoyable experience for the family. 15 dollars for adults.
Lots of parking in the lot.and free.
This is the new location! Construction on roads can be difficult to find the entrance even if youre right there looking at the zoo.
Needs better signage. Had to drive all the way around.
Costs about 15 for adult tickets.
You can see bears, ravens owls foxes wolves coyotes, raccoons, deer, eagle hawk snow leopard.
No shade in here only by restrooms. Bring sunscreen and water. No water provided.
Children have a small playground inside.
Gift shop available.
Small zoo. I'd say you can see all the animals in 30 to 1hr taking your time.
But its cool to see 👀 ravens tear apart mice during feeding time.

We had a blast with our two year old. It’s a small zoo nestled in the mountains and the views are GORGEOUS. It’s set up so that even toddlers can have a great view into every enclosure and there were a couple of play places. This zoo provides the opportunity to get the closest we’ve been to bears before. Very cool.
Jake Newsome — Google review
I've been to many zoos small and large and this one had the saddest looking animals, with the smallest and most barren enclosures. The bears seem to be the star attraction and they're kept in dirt and concrete with a few trees and a water feature. The four owls in a single enclosure with almost no shade was depressing as well. The only animal remotely happy was the fat squirrel. Again I've been to smaller zoos before, but the animals had much more shade/privacy, usually the great frustration with zoos is that the animals are tucked away and hard to see, not here though, completely exposed.

Nice zoo with a nice path to see all the rescued wildlife animals. There were so many animals, owls, eagles, raccoons, bears, foxes, coyotes. Very clean a lot of traffic but easy to maneuver around. Gift shop was way to busy to buy anything. I will be back.

China Ranch Date Farm & Bakery is a family-run organic date farm nestled in a lush oasis in the middle of the desert. It's located just south of Tecopa and can be reached by driving about 50 miles north on Death Valley Road. The farm is fed by the Armagosa River and offers activities such as hiking, bird-watching, and exploring national land trails. Visitors rave about the delicious milkshakes, cookies, and other goodies available at the bakery.
This places smells wonderful. The store has a bunch of local made items. Everything from clothes to purses to rocks to date bread and cookies that they bake in the store. What a great marketing tactic guys! We had a classic date shake for the first time and we were happy with how good it was. Creamy, light and with a vanilla base and small bits of date which sweeten it just enough. Thank you!

It was quite an adventure visiting the date farm! The contrast between the rugged journey down the dirt road and the sudden oasis of date palms and facilities is truly striking. And the presence of the Amargosa River adding life and sustenance to the area adds another layer of beauty to the landscape. Its like a hidden gem tucked away in the midst of nature's grandeur.
Don't miss out on the baked goods and the date shakes, they are mighty tasty.

This place is only one hour from my house, yet it took me over twenty five years to go here. It was a beautiful day with lots of people, being it was president’s day weekend. It wasn’t over crowded. We went on a couple small hikes but will go back for more hiking. The gift shop smells wonderful from the baking. They have rocks, hippie clothes, hats, and nature body products. The date cookies and dates were very fresh and delicious. There are a few antiques on the property and you can walk through the grove of palm trees. A great day

The milkshakes are the true winners here! They are very delicious and great on a warm day!

There are also some trails that are part of a national land area, so a great way to spend a cool afternoon.

Worth the drive from Las Vegas. Beautiful, relaxing, and straightforward drive. It is such a quaint place. Very cool to see the date palm trees. There's a little bit of dirt road but not a rough terrain to go through.
Love the little gift shop they have. Had some date shake. Super delicious! We also bought dates from here and it is amazing and flavorful! It's also very nice to be able to support their business.
There are places you can hike. Make sure to bring lots of water on hot days! And I have spotted a coyote within their date farm so be watchful.

It is what it is: A tall thermometer - and a gift shop.
It's 134 feet tall, because 134 degrees Fahrenheit was the highest temperature measured when they built it.

I heard about the World's Tallest Thermometer on a show. Never thought I would see it in person. I was visiting Vegas and heard about Alien Jerky. So I took the 90-minute drive to Baker, California, and behold the World's Tallest Thermometer!
Being out in the dessert in September was still relatively hot. The temperature was sitting at 98 degrees Fahrenheit. When you're minutes away from Death Valley, it does get hot.
The gift shop was nice to browse around and, of course, had to get a souvenir proving that I've seen the tallest thermometer. The staff was super friendly and answered questions about the place.
If you're driving through Baker, I recommend stopping by, taking a photo, and picking up a souvenir.

The world's largest thermometer is a bit run down, but it's a cool and unique attraction to visit. In addition to the thermometer, there are also other fun things to do on site, like using the penny smashing machine and using the bathroom. Overall, it's a fun and memorable place to check out.

The World's Tallest Thermometer is a steel electric sign in the city of Baker that is 134 feet tall to commemorate the hottest day in the Death Valley, occurred in 1913 at exactly 134 Fahrenheit degrees. It was built in 1991 by the Young Electric Sign Company for Willis Herron, a local businessman. After falling into disuse due to high electric bills, it was reacquired by Herron's family and made it operational again in 2014. Around the base there's now a diner and a gift shop.

It was an alright visit, nothing to exciting about it. Just like that we were able to visit a little piece of history (more then half my life this place was closed/off.) glad I finally got to really explore it.
the flat penny machine cost a dollar. T-shirts range from about $20. Cute little cute stuffed animal of a bird with sunglasses think it was about $15.(might be wrong) Magnets are like 5$. I personally, really like the wall of money from around the world a collector myself. Clean store, clean bathrooms, respectful Clerk.
I think it’s a good place for a picnic lunch on a not so hot day.

This is a great place to stop and shop around. Convenient location off Hwy 5. They have remodeled the store after our last visit few years back. They did a beautiful job on the remodel and expanded the interior for more product displays. If you like jerky they have a large variety. Snacks candies and souvenirs are plentiful. The alien characters are fun. The aliens in the car of the future greet you at the entrance. There is also a flying saucer. Customer service is great. Minimal wait and fast checkout.

Cool novelty jerky shop, they have fun stuff and jerky have promo section 2 for $20, some hot sauces, stuff toys, candies etc you name it and I was surprise on cash wrap they also have gemstones. The place gets busy and no associate on the floor, would be helpful if they do have at least one since there are kids playing with some toys and balls. They also have bathrooms… nice stop heading to Vegas!

Very eclectic. It’s a real fun place but everything is pretty pricey. I love the alien theme and they are building what looks to be a mothership behind the shop. Something to see anyway. But, my family spent $110 on a bag of pretty much nothing - candy, jerky, beads, pickled eggs, quirky drinks. The jerky was not amazing. In the future I will curb my kids from picking things.

I really admire what the alien jerky people have created. The super cool concept adds color and interest to an otherwise mundane drive back from Las Vegas. Unfortunately the jerky was really awful. Bought 2 packs of original and 2 packs of spicy. Both were as flavorless as a dry napkin. Very saddened to say that. The jerky was incredibly expensive to add to the disappointment. Overall I would rate the jerky 1 star but compelled to add 1 more star because I felt bad

This place has improved incredibly. I'd been going to this store for the last past 15 years when it used to be a small shop selling only beef jerky. Now it is a whole new level with cool, cute selections of merchandise. Also, they will have a hotel?! Impressive (so happy for them that they had prospered). In fact, Baker deserves to be acknowledged and improve as well but we will see in time. Overall, you will love this place is great for the entire family. 💚🛸 👽

There is amazing assortment of alien beef jerky that is fresh and affordable at 2 bags for 20$.

We rarely go to Vegas but when we do - this is a must stop. I was ecstatic to see the mother ship’s construction is well on its way, as well, it’s supporting logistical buildings. In all seriousness, the future alien hotel/attraction/whatever it ends up being is well on its way to completion!
Inside, it has been remodeled; a few additional products added. Always entertaining!
The staff are always available to help and appreciate it’s always staffed well.
Lastly, probably most importantly, they have tasty jerky!

It's a fun stop and worth a quick detour on a road trip. Very quirky and eccentric place, definitely one of a kind. That said, pricing is a little ridiculous so be careful. Sodas are $5 apparently, didn't see the prices advertised for them so feels a little deceptive. Obviously they have to cover the costs of the extensive decor, but they should be more transparent.

Okay we were on the way back from Las Vegas and we decided to stop here in Baker and check on the progress of the UFO hotel and get some jerky at alien fresh jerky! The alien Frisk Jerky store is pretty awesome with lots of alien stuff in it! And the UFO hotel is under construction and should be open sometime next year! :-) I have posted some pictures of both the alien fresh Jerky Store and the UFO Hotel under construction! :-)

Alien Jerky is a unique store we encountered on the way to Las Vegas. They offer a wide variety of tasty jerky flavors and an assortment of products that fit the alien theme. Browsing through their selection is quite an enjoyable experience.

Stumbled upon Alien Fresh Jerky during a road trip and couldn't resist checking it out. This quirky store has a range of interesting products that caught my attention. From unusual jerky flavors to alien themed goodies, it's a unique pit stop for anyone looking to add a bit of whimsy to their journey. If you enjoy surprises and unconventional snacks, Alien Fresh Jerky is worth a visit.

One of the better novelty stores I’ve seen…anywhere.
It’s full of fun trinkets and amusements. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a “greetings earthling” warm welcome.
The outside veneer is quite detailed. The inside is just a store, but full of neon lights, and lots of aliens.
It was a fun stop. They have much more than jerky to sell, tons of snacks and alien fan wear.
If you have to stop for jerky, this is the place to go.
Unfortunately, I didn’t try the jerky, but it appeared as good as jerky does anywhere. An incredible number of flavors to choose from.

I love when we travel through here. We always stop on our way to where we're going. There are so many amazing jerky and hot sauces to choose from. I was so excited that a store where I live started stocking some of the jerky, but it still doesn't compare to stopping at this place.

Las Vegas visitors looking for a nature-filled escape can find it at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The conservation area comprises a network of canyons and hills with opportunities for hiking, biking, rock climbing, and desert wildlife watching.
Red Rock is the perfect day trip if you are in Las Vegas and want to enjoy the outdoors. There are numerous trails, each with dynamically different scenery. The Calico Tanks is a 2.5 mile round trip hike with about 400-500 feet in elevation change. It is absolutely beautiful. When you get to the end, scale the wall for an amazing view of the entire Las Vegas Valley. If you are a bit adventurous, go off trail on the way back. You can't get lost, as the canyon walls lead back to the trail head.

We spent several hours here doing short hikes and just exploring the canyons. We visited in October and it was hot 80s F, but not unbearable. Many of the trails are very walkable and easy. I would recommend a hat and sunscreen as there is very little shade. It was about a one hour drive from Las Vegas and a perfect day trip. We combined this with also driving to Death Valley at sunset. Beautiful landscapes and so much to see. Highly recommend!

Awesome views and really nice trails. It felt like we were on a private tour of the canyon. The 1-way road stretches all the way through the park, and it felt as if we paid for a private road. I recommend you go nice and slow. You almost feel like if you're back in time so much so that you can definitely shoot a jurassic Park scene here.
There's a 9/11 memorial on the park, pretty ko and interesting to see, you may miss it so be on the look out, it's on the side of the visitors center.

Had a lovely afternoon trip with the family to the Canyon. Beautiful open space with stunning rock formations. Saw a little wild rabbit near the visitor center. Definitely fill up on water before the drive especially if you're hiking.
We were able to follow a hike into the Canyon. It was sad to see that someone vandalized the water hole but it was easy enough to ignore. So many tadpoles in there! Not too strenuous. Great place to go to get away from the Las Vegas chaos.

What a peaceful place to be! It's so exciting to hike and explore the Red Rock Canyon! We had such a great time. A local showed us some ancient writing on the mountain. We were also able to watch some mountain climbers do their thing! Take the whole family. You can choose where to hike and the sights are stunning regardless. It's also a blast to climb into the little caves and relax for a little while as you take in the beauty of your surroundings! Now, there's always a chance that you will run into a tarantula in one of those caves, but I didn't. Take the trip and enjoy a great time outdoors!

Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful preserve teeming with color. You'll be able enjoy the scenic drive with regularly spaced facilities, or stop at the many well marked trails and do some exploring. I was thrilled to discover so much foliage in bloom in December. The stillness of the caverns was a wonderful break from the amplification of sound in the city. If you have a moment to be still for a bit, you may be able to see wildlife like Panamint Chipmunks or Mountain Bluebirds.

The whole area was pretty incredible. We went on the self-guided tour, read the signage and chose to do most of the moderate hiking trails. The temperature was about 20-30° cooler than in Las Vegas. There were plenty of bathrooms to use along our journey at the scenic stops. We brought a case of water with us in the trunk and definitely needed to kept hydrated.

Amazing scenic drive and the weather was perfect that day. If you time your entry right, don't forget to have a picnic lunch at the Willow Springs parking lot... plenty of picnic tables just be aware they aren't covered so you're exposed to the sun. Many stops and parking lots along the scenic drive for photo opportunities. I'll be back here again someday!

Beautiful! For $20 per vehicle, you can drive the scenic loop and just look, or get out at designated parking areas, and take photos. This is a great location for those who just want to see the beauty and/or maybe take a little walk down a trail as well as those who hike and climb.
We spent about 90 minutes there because we drove through and only walked part of one trail.
There are bathrooms (larger, fancy porta-potties, basically) at some spots. Grab a map when you get there so you know where they are ahead of time.
We ordered tickets online. At 9 AM on a Sunday, it was not overly crowded - we never had a problem pulling into one of the parking areas.
If you're visiting Las Vegas, I definitely recommend spending a couple of hours at Red Rock Canyon. You'll get great photos!

Great place for Camping. Beautiful scenery. Fantastic place to get away from the hustle and bustle and craziness you find in Las Vegas. Plus the temperatures are about 20° to 40° cooler.
Recommend this for a get away or a quiet relaxing afternoon.

This place is a climbers paradise! So much to do and so much to climb! The sport and trad routes are super fun and the approaches aren’t bad at all. The shade is truly a god send when you’re climbing all day. Kraft has some killer bouldering routes as well. We stayed at the campsite literally 2 minutes away from the crag! Perfect place.

Red Rock Canyon was a short drive from the strip, we went the first week of March. Beautiful weather to go there in by the way.
First few minutes we were driving we saw the donkeys they were so cute!
We hiked the trail to see the Waterfall which is only around in the Spring, it was very pretty. Muddy going up and a lot of rocks but we did it!
The gift shop was really cute, had a good amount of souvenirs.
There were bathrooms at each stop thankfully.
Overall we stayed about 2 hours, didn't do to many trails but you don't need to to see the beauty of the park!

Chill. Well more the vibe than the temperature. On that thought, this is a place best seen in the morning. Both for the temperature and the light. The main entrance has a visitor center and a cost that requires a reservation. Save your money and time and simply drive down to one of the free trailheads. The trails are groomed and fairly flat. You can easily do an hour adventure by walking a half hour out and then turn around and come back to your car. I think my favorite thing was the variety of cacti and succulents that we saw.
Mark Tremel — Google review
Made it a priority to explore as much as we could for the day but if you can go multiple days, I highly recommend it. I believe the entrance fee is $15 per car but we had Uber drop us off/pick us up. The commute from the Vegas strip was relatively short. The views on the journey were absolutely breathtaking. The Calico Tank trail is moderate intensity and worth completing. Bring more water than you think you need and snacks.

Red Rock Canyon was awesome! We drove up right as it stopped raining and their was a rainbow entering the park. It was super pretty. We did minimal hiking because it kept drizzling after a bit but was super pretty to drive through. I would love to come back and spend more time here.

A scenic, picturesque and serene landscape with amazing views of mountains. The day pass (about $25 in 2024) allows access to the visitor center, scenic loop drive and access to all the trails.
Please note that cars should only stop at designated areas on the loop. Plenty of photo opportunities and access to well marked trails are available in these stops. The larger scenic view points also have restrooms.

Really beautiful and well-maintained natural area with excellent hikes. We enjoyed it so much on our first visit that we opted to return with family the next week!
The online reservation system works well to manage crowds in the scenic loop (where most of the trail heads are), but it means you need to plan ahead for your visit. You might wish to download the park map before your visit. (They didn’t have paper maps when we were there)
We hiked there two different days and appreciated the well marked trails. There is parking at each collection of trailheads, and some lots also have pit toilets. Several areas also have picnic tables.

Very nice for a scenic drive. You can see all the rock formations and the colors – they’re out of this world.
Whether you’re into hiking or just wanna chill and enjoy nature, Red Rock Canyon is the spot, and it’s only a 25-minute drive from the strip

For a small park that is easily accessible from Las Vegas, you can easily spend a whole day here exploring the canyons, doing short hikes and rock climbing. The visitor center is really nice with a beautiful view of the Canyons as well as tons of information on flora and fauna. Also, a nice place to get some respite from heat. There is a small entrance fee but it's worth it.

Wonderful encounter! Las Vegas is about 17 miles west of Red Rock Canyon. The 13-mile trip offers breathtaking views of the canyon. There are picnic spaces, mountain biking trails, horseback riding, rock climbing, and hiking trails. It's a wonderful escape from the bustle of Vegas and breathtakingly gorgeous.

This place had amazing views. There is a scenic drive route that allows you to see many beautiful sites along with many hiking paths. Be prepared if you plan on hiking any trails. Some of the easier rated trails have elevation and rocks paths that may require some agility. We spent almost the entire day there. Walking 4-5 trails around the scenic route.

This place is absolutely beautiful. We were able to stop at several different trailheads before getting to a Conservation. We are from Florida and it was so good to see mountains and enjoy the nature that this beautiful area provides. We highly recommend if you were staying in the Vegas area and can have the availability to get up super early in the morning like we did at 5 AM and drive 40 minutes away from the strip to go see this beautiful area. If you want a cool route 66 location to stop in on with friends and family, or just an interesting landmark on your way into California, this is well worth the stop!
Great place to stop for some photos, a walk around or a snack.
Staff was very helpful, and even in the height of expensive gas it wasn't too terrible for how remote of a location it is.
Wide range of snacks available too, plenty of drinks, etc.

Please support historical gems like Roy’s Motel and Cafe. Pilots be aware of restricted area very close to the runway. If coming from LA or SD area suggest hooking left after 29 palms VOR and start a gradual descent to around 2,000 ft. Use 29 palms weather and altimeter. Make left traffic for east runway. Right traffic for West runway. 2, 000 ft was a bit high for us, we landed east and the rising terrain on the right made it seem like we were surfing 🏄♀️ a wave with the 🏔. Brush up on soft runway. Dirt runway with rocks, you’ll slow down faster than expected, don’t let the nose sink. No avgas. This is what flying is all about

First time visiting. Went with a group of friends on a Friday around 9am. Pretty cool location to stop for gas because the pumps are all antiques & you have to manually key the pump for it to work like they did in the days of old. Our cashier was very nice & shared some history about this Route 66 with us. Did you know routes 66 goes as far west as San Francisco and as far SouthEast as Chicago? Now you do lol.
Wish they had food, coffee when we went. Nevertheless pretty cool spot to stop for photo ops.

Roy's Motel and Cafe is a beloved Route 66 landmark that has been closed since 2005. The motel and cafe were once a thriving stop for travelers along the Mother Road, but the construction of Interstate 40 led to a decline in business.
Despite its closure, Roy's remains a popular destination for Route 66 enthusiasts. The motel and cafe are in a state of disrepair, but they still exude a charm that is hard to resist. Visitors can take photos of the iconic neon sign, wander around the vacant buildings, and imagine what it was like when Roy's was bustling with life.
The future of Roy's is uncertain. There have been efforts to restore the property, but it is unclear if they will be successful. In the meantime, Roy's stands as a reminder of a bygone era, a time when Route 66 was the main highway connecting the eastern and western United States.
Pros:
Historic Route 66 landmark
Unique atmosphere
Opportunity to see a piece of Route 66 history
Cons:
Closed and in disrepair
Limited amenities
Overall:
Roy's Motel and Cafe is a must-see for any Route 66 enthusiast. The motel and cafe may be closed, but they are still a significant part of Route 66 history. Visitors can take photos, wander around the property, and imagine what it was like when Roy's was a thriving business.
Don’t forget to stop by the golden Buddha down the road!

Route 66 Amboy, California
Roy's Motel and Cafe is one of our favorite stops. We usually stop to rest, take a few photos, buy some souvenirs, and buy some Route Beer to quench our thirst. They have some awesome staff members here, and they always make you feel welcomed.
It's easy to have a conversation with them, and they are just so easygoing. From the manager Kenneth ( He doesn't realize it, but we actually met once before, lol) and Nicole, who has such a great personality, and the other staff members, it's always makes for a fun stop.
They also offer some great souvenirs as well as some great sodas and beverages. The one thing we always buy is the Mini Pecan pies, which is from Juan Pollo. They are so delicious
Overall, we would recommend stopping in and taking a look around and having a fun conversation.
Thank you, Roy's Motel and Cafe, for making our visits fun.

Stopped by for a photo or 2 on my Route 66 trip. Appears that the gas station portion is open? A very cool and iconic Route 66 stop, a must-see for anyone on this journey. I was there at a weird time, as it wasn't quite dark enough for them to turn on the neon sign, but still needed headlights for driving. Twilight, if you will. The Amboy post office is across the street, appears to be operational, but would have been closed when I arrived. I believe they are restoring the motel rooms, and you can go check out some of them to see how the rooms are laid out.

My husband and I drove through here many times while he was stationed in 29 Palms. We would take this "shortcut" to Vegas. Many times I taunted him with the idea of exploring the abandoned elementary school. He turned me down time and time again. This is(was) a great place to get away for a few hours, the restaurant was pretty good with decent prices, the jewel of their menu was most definitely the bison steak and the bison burger, not always available but worth the trip to find out. I've taken my kids there before and it was a great bonding experience, the town was fun to stroll around in and the shows and gun fights were fun. I wish I had gone more often. Oh and the place is haunted...I wonder if the ghosts will stay and haunt the new place....I hope they do....... Lol.... 👻

It says fully operational Wednesday thru Sunday. We are here on a warm December day. The only things open are the things that cost money like the shops. Wax museum is closed. The cowboys were great, the atmosphere was incredible. I ate in restaurant, then i my kids went on a 1 hr ride, I went back in restaurant to stay warm and dry from weather. My oldest daughter brought her puppy that is in training for a service dog, for seizures inside bar/restaurant, where the supposed bar/restaurant manager questioned us about puppy, then kicked us out of establishment and off of property. Shame on her and whoever hired her. I'm sure knowing Bonnie, and that being a FAMILY and animal rescue foundation would of never of stood for that. May nothing good happen for the survivors of her. That must be the only job a bar manager can get, treating patrons with disabilities bad. No wonder ur sold and closing.
Historic saloon turned Hollywood set offering brews, cocktails & American bites with a Texas twist.
Let’s be honest, most of you are here because of Fallout or urbex. For either reason, you came to the right to place. The saloon is great! The staff is friendly, and food is good. Inside there are photos and newspapers framed and hung on the walls, quite an interesting read if you’ve got the time. Within walking distance of the saloon there’s a few completely abandoned buildings, great place to take some photos. If you collect bottle caps check outside the saloon, you’re sure to find at least a few good ones on the ground. I didn’t buy anything from the general store so I can’t speak much on that, but what was being sold looked quite cool.

Even better than I had hoped for!
I read about this place in the newspaper (a few months ago) and have wanted to come see it in person ever since. So glad I did!
First of all, it's definitely got that "old western saloon" vibe going, so I knew it was going to be fun as soon as I saw the entrance. We came on a Saturday and there was a live band playing on the patio and quite a good crowd for a hot afternoon.
The server brought us water for our dog and was quick with our drinks. The food was excellent. It IS all served in "to-go" containers, but that didn't bother anyone. We tried a cheeseburger, a patty-melt and a "Handyman" (burger with pastrami and sauerkraut on rye). No french fries, just chips.
Only negative was the flies. Since we've been having so much rain recently they have really been hatching out and it was more than their pest-control system could manage.

I freaking love this place! Everybody was awesome, the food is out of this world, I highly recommend the "Old Man Liver Burger", ---- liver involved, just the name-- everybody was super friendly and if you want a true out there in the middle of nowhere experience where you don't have to go broke in New Vegas, this is definitely the place! There was live music and alcohol and the old man who runs the joint is a genius, and I highly recommend that you pick up a bottle of his seasoning! Definitely one of my new favorite places to stop. And we weren't even bothered by any raiders or deathclaws!

Haven't been in a while. A few changes since I was there last. (What happened to all the whiskey barrels?) Very popular place. Prepare for a wait. We were told there would be an hour wait for 2 people. It was less than an hour wait. We sat outside (it was a little on the chilly side and heat lamps could have been turned up a few more notches) The band was fun. The food was decent and the service was good for as busy as it was.

This is the oldest bar in Nevada, many movies have been made here, an actor even waited at this spot while rescue searched for his wife's plane because it crashed near by. This was a super cool place to check out. We got to hear all the stories. Supposedly, the table I was at somebody was killed at. There are old bullet holes in the walls behind the bar. Man, if this place could talk!!
There's was a live band out back jamming away. And the gift shop had some nice swag to remember the trip.
The bar was even featured digitally in one of the Fallout video games.
The ONLY reason that they did not get five stars is the length of time it took us to get our meal. It was literally an hour and a half for it. Since we weren't in a hurry, no harm, no foul. And I would only deduct a half a star, if Google allowed that.
This comes with a high recommendation to go check it out when you're in the area👍👍

The Old Man Liver(OML) Old Fashioned was excellent, as well as the Ghost Burger. I feel like the service may have been a bit better if we were seated in the bar area, but I would attribute that to them being busy. Overall it was a very positive experience and a sight I wanted to see!

Five Star for fun. I believe this is the oldest bar in Nevada. Fun place to listen to music and have bar bq. The drive there is absolutely beautiful. Service was very good and everyone was friendly. You can bring your kids and dogs for music and food. Great biker destination.

The Pioneer Saloon is a place that we always try to bring our Jeep friends from out of town to and all of them end up loving it as much as my wife and I do. I mean, it's just a half hour south of Vegas and yet, it feels like it's a century or more away. Always a good time here and great food and all kinds of great history. Love the fact that it still has a bullet hole in the wall where someone was killed! On the weekends, there's even live music in the evening and in the warmer months, great outdoor seating. The last time we were here, my wife got the Ghost Burger and it was outstanding. Me, I got the Ruben Burger and I would definitely recommend it as well.

This was a fascinating hip place! Tons of Nevada history mixed with some Clark Gable tragedy, remanence of some Wild Wild West gun slinging shoot outs. The burgers are absolutely worth the drive… I will be back just for that reason alone! Worth a weekend drive or motorcycle trip!!! A must see place!!!

We were driving from Las Vegas towards LA and decided to stop at this historic place to get some warm food. Overall, This is a cool place however some things could be improved.
When We arrived, it started raining, so the waitress said that there were no options for warm food because the grill couldn’t be used under the rain. It was definitely a pity, I wish the place could have some back-up options. Only pizza was available and We ordered one, also some coffee.
It took some time before our pizza arrived. However it was worth to wait: the pizza was very fresh and tasty.
One disappointment was the absence of real porcelain and cutlery: everything was of paper or plastic. I understand that it is probably because of lack of water in the desert but the place positions itself as historic attraction so it is very sad to get the food served in modern plastic. Also, the menu was printed on ordinary paper with ordinary font - a great artistic touch would be to style the menus to look historic. Besides, it was hard to understand what is what in the menu - we had to ask the waitress regarding each dish; the menu seemed to be new or different compared to the photos in google.
In genera I loved the exterior and interior of the building - it feels like you travel back in time.
All in all it is indeed a great place, absolutely worth visiting.

This is a must stop! this place is full of history and good vibes!! It's famous for movies being shot here, I'm new here and this is my favorite spot now. Makes you feel like your in a western movie. I spent a few hours at the bar and the restaurant has great options as well!

Came here just because of Fallout but loved the atmosphere and the people are so nice! Reasonable drinks and food compared to vegas and just as good. Bartender even gave me tattoo advice since I got my first tattoo while on the strip. Highly recommend taking the trip out! And if you're a fan of the game, there is a huge fallout gathering in November. Just ask them about it!

Just a great place to stop and check out. This place is a historic area in Nevada and the video game has done great in bringing more people into this spot. The food is great, I had the banana foster French roast. There's plenty of seating and no matter where you sit there will be something to ponder over. It's like stepping back into a time capsule and that is part of its charm. The people here are real characters, kind, helpful, with a bit of an edge. Our server Naesha, what's fantastic. They have plenty of events that are happening here from live music, burlesque shows, and now a fallout-themed festival in November. Do yourself a favor and come by.

Enjoyed a Clark Gable Biscuit Sandwich for breakfast. Fun visit for a young fan of Fallout: New Vegas. No worries about bringing a minor, since there’s areas to eat that are not at the bar.

Fun place to stop in the middle of nowhere for a beer and a burger. Actually it is easy to get to from I-15. The burgers we had were tasty enough but the buns kind of disintegrate as you eat. Lots of interesting history and they have live music on occasion. They are adding a huge outdoor deck on the east side of the place.

We stopped in on Thanksgiving and we were so excited to see that they were open. We have turkey sandwiches and a drink. We sat at the bar with different types of people from different backgrounds. It was likely one of the best Thanksgivings I've ever had! Huge thanks to the owner for being open and the bartender for working and entertaining us all. I most definitely recommend this place. This is also featured in Fallout New Vegas. WILL RETURN. Hoping they're open on Christmas!

Wow, what a find! Invited by my wife's friend, the owner, so totally biased, right? Nah. This place rocks!
Sat outside and listened to live music and ate some great burgers and potato salad... Get that potato salad! I don't eat a lot of red meat, so when I do it usually doesn't taste as great as when I ate more, but I had the Ghost Pepper sauce burger and it was SO GOOD.
And our host topped it all off with their specialty shakes, with a bit of an alcoholic kick.
Do yourself a favor and check out this place the next time you are driving by the main freeway. It's a quick jaunt off the road and you won't be disappointed.

I've spent botH Thanksgiving and Christmas, here! Both times the experience was one of a kind. They serve lunch meat sandwiches for the holidays (because it's nice enough of them to be open for the holidays) turkey for Thanksgiving and ham for Christmas. We had a lot of fun and the bartender was so kind! I absolutely recommend it if you're near Vegas. It's not too far and it's absolutely worth the trip! I hear it's an excellent spot for karaoke!!

Great place to stop for a drink, a bit of flood and some conversation. There are some great beers on tap. I had the Ghost Burger which had a very nice kick to it. Followed it up with a side of potato salad which was incredible.
Pioneer Saloon is historic, having been featured on a number of ghost story shows and in the video game Fallout: New Vegas. And while all of that is interesting and certainly is a draw, it's the food and the people that really make this place worthy of visiting.

Such an incredible peace of history! Im a huge Fallout New Vegas fan and this place was a HUGE treat. Dragged my family with me out to the small town if goodsprings and we enjoyed a burger and some drinks while i got up periodically to gawk in awe of the array of fallout memorabilia. Super incredible experience. Numerous other things were filmed here too including 5 finger death punches song "blue on black". Seeing this place single handedly made my trip to Vegas worth it!
Sprawling shopping center featuring brand-name department stores, outlet boutiques & eateries.
Great art to view, had no clue where I was going but enjoyed my lost walk through this place with all the have displayed. Didn’t seem like much shopping options but wondering if it’s a place more to explore randomly. Or just a run down mall made into a art display
Esperanza Vite — Google review
Not much in the mall , maybe 6-7 stores still open LEVIS OUTLET has pretty good deal and it is connected to the casino , plenty of truck parking to stretch your legs on your half hour break ,or if you're spending the night casino has buffet ,and a bar with free beer wine and spirits if you're gaming, best truck parking is on the back side of mall/casino/hotel, with security patrol, you may park your truck anywhere on primm property unless it says no truck parking ,in one small area

** Really fun walk if you have time to burn at the supercharger! **
Model example of physical depression. Honestly such a cool space! Walking through was a lot of fun but for very different reasons than the owners would like. This is the legal way to walk through an abandoned building! 😂 the art made it feel doubly so. I counted 7 stores “open”. In quotation because none of them were actually open and a few looked like they haven’t been open in a while. This place is just begging to be a ‘con of some kind. Comic-Con, anime-con I don’t know but something! It would be a great layout and no stores to get in the way. I plan on watching to see when the building is closed for good. Too bad.

I dont know how to rate this place, it used to be so full and vibrant and was an amazing stop on the side of the road.. now it is still and empty. Michael kors and a Thrift shop are still open inside of the mall at this time, but that is it. Bathrooms are still functional, and clean.

I really don't know what store to give this place it was a place I used to go to all the time coming or leaving Las Vegas from LV to CA from CA LV it was the stopping point and now it's mostly empty it's really sad a lot of people have lost their jobs hundreds if not thousands. I miss what it used to be. Hope it comes back alive with more shops.

Uneventful, only about 4 stores still open. Food court is all abandoned. Mural artists have done a great job with the street art on walls. Great way to get your steps in, no customers.

If you are loooking for a 1980 mall experience, do not go. If you are interested in the 3 remaining stores and want a great post-Apololyptic walking experience to get in your steps on rare rainy days, or if you are interested in good artwork, go. It was a nice break from the crowded otherworlds of Vegas. I am posting some photos from the mall, so you can see the artwork.

It's pretty inside. It looks like it was great back in the day, but the only thing left open was an over priced thrift store and the casino. Otherwise, the whole thing is desolate. It's nice to just walk to stretch your legs from driving if you are traveling through, though.
Midnight Siren — Google review
This place has gotten a little disappointed throughout the years. A lot of the shops have gone out of business. But I do hope with everything that's opening we will get some new stores in the near future. But they do have some amazing art street art displayed throughout the mall.

It's closed but it was very fun to explore. The only stores that are open are MK and bath and body works. The casino is also open which was pretty cool

No stores are open anymore other than Michael Kors and Bath&Body Works. There’s another store with lights and clothes inside but the gates were closed. A booth in the middle was still closed. Restrooms are clean though!
All the open stores are close to each other. You don’t have to walk around the mall unless you want to see the art work and/or do some photo shoots.
Ernst Johann — Google review
It's a dead mall. Quite literally. It's eerie walking in there. The music that's playing, as you walk in, echoes because it's so empty.
And the outside looks completely sun baked and not maintained. There's only ONE entrance you can go into.
When you walk in, you almost feel like you're in an apocalyptic movie. Not a single store is open when walking in.
The fountains that once were operational are now dismantled and in pieces.
Thankfully, the store I needed was off to the left in the main corridor.
If I had to guess, there's maybe 4 or 5 stores left open in this enormously empty place.
Why are they keeping this Mall open?
I wish I knew.
Leslie Maiko — Google review
This mall is very empty since covid affected its business. I thought it was cool walking through the mall as it gives off a vibe of being in a deserted city. There are maybe 5 or more retail shops here? I didn't count them. I enjoyed taking photos of this place.
Annette Grimes — Google review
As a mall, this place gets a zero star as it has only two stores left, a Michael Kors and a soap store. This was one of our favorite malls 20+ years ago, so it was kind of sad seeing it in its current condition. I imagine the two remaining stores will be gone when their current leases expire or maybe even sooner. Like others have mentioned, it was cool to walk around this nearly abandoned, but clean, mall. The arts that replaced the closed stores were very interesting. There are no place to eat inside, though there are a few fast food placin the parking lot. As of the Labor day weekend, you still can access the mall from Primm Valley casino, but the escalators were shut down. You can access the mall with a short flight of stairs from the casino. If you want to check out the arts before the mall shuts down permanently, then you will need to visit it soon.

They only have 2 Malls but the Micheal Kors Store was really good and cheap too. The interior is pretty empty but very calming at pretty.
The Seven Magic Mountains is a desert art installation showcasing seven painted boulder totems that reach up to 35 feet in height, created by Ugo Rondinone. It provides a unique opportunity to witness the magnificent colored rocks, which cannot be fully appreciated through photos alone. The site includes facilities such as portable toilets and food trucks, and the parking lot is large enough to accommodate a considerable number of visitors. While the parking lot is unpaved, parking is relatively easy.
I have lived in Las Vegas for 27yrs and I've never been here. We decided to go see Seven Magic Mountains on my Birthday. Even though it's just massive painted rocks, it's really cool. You feel so small next to these rocks. The weather was pretty warm, I believe it was in the 90's month of October. There is a little stand, where you can buy drinks possibly food I'm not sure. Quite a bit of visitors, but it wasn't bad at all. Everybody was polite, waiting patiently for others to take their photos so that you could take your photos. I guess you can bring your doggies there, as I seen a few. You have to be able to see this from the Freeway as these rocks are massive. Painted bright, an overall fun place to visit. I would go back again, but just when it's cooler.

This is a great spot to stop by either on the way to Las Vegas or on the way back. The parking area is just an open area with gravel. There are tour buses stopping by, so parking for an RV and towing with a trailer is not an issue. The massive boulders are vibrantly painted which makes it a lot of fun to take photos. There are some details and information about the artists and inspiration of the artwork as you enter.

30 minutes from Las Vegas Strip. The artwork looks beautiful 🤩 it makes the desert more energetic! Many tourist here, but mostly come for taking photos, so people don’t stay too long. Always have parking. 11-13:00 is peak. Recommend come earlier(8-9:00)/late(after 16:00) if you want to take a photo without crowds!

Seven Magic Mountains is a must-see for anyone visiting Las Vegas. The art installation is located just outside of the city, and it is truly unique and awe-inspiring.
The installation consists of seven towering stacks of colorful boulders, each one over 30 feet tall. The boulders are painted in bright shades of pink, yellow, blue, and green, and they create a striking contrast against the desert landscape.
Visitors can walk around and explore the installation from all angles. It is a great place to take photos and admire the artwork.
Seven Magic Mountains is a free art installation, and it is open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Here are some additional tips for visiting Seven Magic Mountains:
The best time to visit is early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat.
There is no shade at the installation, so be sure to bring sunscreen and a hat.
Wear comfortable shoes, as you will be doing some walking.
There are no restrooms at the installation, so be sure to go before you go.
Be respectful of the artwork and do not climb on the boulders.
Overall, Seven Magic Mountains is a great place to visit for people of all ages. It is a unique and awe-inspiring art installation that is well worth a visit.

Artist Ugo Rondinone, a world-renowned art star who made a splash in the NYC cityscape with Human Nature in 2013, created this Land Art installation aptly titled Seven Magic Mountains; he talks of the holistic properties in the colors and hopes viewers will notice the beauty of the desert juxtaposed by his totems. This piece of Land Art took five years to complete at the cost of $3.5million (not to worry, this was by private donation not tax dollars). On average the boulders weigh 40,000lbs each, the totems are stacked 3-6 boulders high and stand between 30-35 feet tall. Can you imagine the height?!
This was on my bucket list ✔️

It's a nice place for a quick sightseeing trip. It's completely free. All you have to do is follow the rules. Me and my family went there in the evening at dusk. Was not crowded at all. My kids love picking their favorite formation of rocks and taking pictures. They even played where am I by hiding behind the giant structures. It was a fun time!

This place is magical. Granted I came in December and enjoyed the cold over hot. There is access to explore a stretch of desert without being far from civilization. It's open desert and so many areas to take photos. The structures are vibrant colors, and stacked really high, a sight to see. The location is right before you hit Vegas or as you leave, it's approximately 20 minutes to and fro, but freeway access is conveniently located. Driving there is fun, gives the sense your driving in a lonely open desert. There is ample parking although it was packed. There is a vendor selling food, drinks, and has port a potty available. Many many tourists here. Definitely make this a stop when in Vegas, you'll have amazing photos 👋

Beautiful art installation along Las Vegas Blvd.
Free for everyone!
Super crowded but still enjoyable 😉 You have to manage how to take pictures and not having big crowds around you or wait for a window when everyone is leaving. I didn't appreciate that it was a couple with a real snake trying to get $20.00 dollar for pictures. They got upset if you even try to take pictures of the rocks where they place their chairs. They can do their own business but a least let the public to enjoy the view. Plus, I read that the place is copyright for commercial use. So keep that in mind if you are going to use your photography for commercial purposes. Small enjoyable walk for picture of the beautiful mountains and plants.
No restrooms available
A little food stand with water and snacks.
Parking lot is available off asfalt. Family friendly. The kids will enjoy the colorful pieces of art.

There was a food truck there when I visited. Not sure if it's there all the time. There are also a few spots not far from it. A truck stop with white castle and other options as well as a place called Pioneer Saloon just a few more minutes away.
The boulders are pretty cool to see in person. I'm glad I took the trip

Cute and different..definitely photo worthy! It’s just a walk up “structure” on the side of the road, but it was pretty packed when we were there. We were on a tour so only spent about 15 minutes there. This is a good amount of time for pics and to not get baked in the heat!

While there are many thousands of reviews of this place already… if you’re looking to check this place out, it’s just fine for a short visit. Other than it being an art project, it’s good to see just about 1 time. It was fun for the drive out and about a good 10 minutes. Beyond that, it’s just a good see it 1 time and that’s good enough. It’s a quick attraction to do while you’re in Las Vegas.

A non-trivial spectacle, an installation of colored stones, outrageously simple but original, I definitely liked it 🗿
If you're passing by, make sure to stop by, it doesn't take long, the entrance is free and there aren't that many people. As I found out, this sculpture was created in 2016 by the world famous Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, so it's a good option to walk around, learn something new and take great photos🤳

This is easily one of the coolest places in the Vegas area, and it's completely free. If you're a photographer and want a really unique backdrop, this is perfect for that. Since it's just outside the city, it tends to be pretty quiet out here. And yet it's also very easily accessible, right off the highway and actually on Las Vegas Blvd. So if you're on the Strip and just drive south for half an hour, you'll end up here.

Must visit attraction near Las Vegas. Been to Vegas over dozens of times but never took the time to visit this place. Quite unique and amazing to view in person rather than in pictures and videos. Since this is a free attraction, expect to see nonstop visitors. So capturing this in photos or videos will include people in it. These are man-made, basically painted colorful rocks on top of each creating seven separate stacks of rocks.

What a cool experience for our4 kids and ourselves. The owners are very polite and straight to the point. We respected them and their property / belongings and had no problem. They only charge $2 per person and they could ask for more, we refused our change to give back to them. . Cute little gift shop and cold beverages. Had a blast exploring Nelson with my hubby. It is a nice little stop off the beaten path. It cost us a dollar each to explore and take some photos. I wasn't to sure all that was out there so I wasn't fully prepared for all the amazing photo opportunities. There is something for everyone. It has a great rustic feel. Who doesn't love old cars and cacti. I cannot wait to go back and get more amazing photos and do the mine tour. I highly recommend this stop.

Very cool place to visit. Not necessarily a ghost town, but had a lot of old school vehicles and buildings, and things of that sort.
There was also options for doing gold mine tour and museum.
Only ask for $1, if you plan to stay more than 15 min. We just donated some money because they were very kind and it's cool to have these things around in the long run.

Incredible experience!! Small fee for photographers but it was absolutely reasonable per hour. We were even able to tour some “hidden”/closed off to the public spots! We sped through and we were able to hit most spots before the hour was up. Definitely a little toasty, even in April so bring plenty of water (and deodorant lol).

After reading the negative reviews I’m wondering what’s wrong with people?!
This place is absolutely amazing and well put together ghost town.
When you arrive you will see clear signs what you have to do and maybe a bit straightforward BUT it is for a reason.
I was walking towards the shop to check in when a guy comes out asking what do you want? 😂 I was like checkin as the sign says. He said it’s $1 per person to take photos with your phone or $10 for professional cameras.
We paid $10 for 3 of us. Which is super cheap.
He told us where to go, when he closes etc and we went around quickly as we had 1 hour only before it closes. You need more time than 1 hour however we managed and we had so much fun.
Before we left we got some drinks and talked to the owner who was super helpful and friendly. He recommended to watch the sunset from the river down the road. We went there and it was absolutely breathtaking.
Can not recommend this place enough. Must visit if you are in Las Vegas.

Really fun place to visit outside of Las Vegas. It's basically free unless you want to stay for a long time or book for an event. Some people have their weddings there.

Been here in 2011 and returned in 2024. A lot has changed, the hidden gem is a way more touristic these days but still a must see when around Las Vegas. It definitely gives you a sense of desert americana. Oh and Bruce is a real gentleman welcoming you.

We stumbled upon this place on our first day in Vegas. It’s about 45 out from town, but well worth the visit. The owners are super nice and full of great information.
It’s practically free as the owners charge $1 per person and there is so much to see. You can also purchase snacks and beverages.
Once you’re done exploring, don’t be afraid to venture onward to the Colorado River overlook. It’s about 5 miles down and a hidden gem!!!

Must see place when in Vegas, its a bit of a drive but well worth it. The area can be explored on your own risk, just make sure to check in at the store first and read the big signs. it's close after dark (5pm). Like the sign says its not Disneyland, keep your dog and kids on a leash the native cactus can be painful and there are plenty of sharp rusted parts but that's the nature of a cool ghost town.

A true hidden gem hidden in the Eldorado Valley. Lot's to see even on the cheap self tour. Super friendly folks and an easy walk around. Good half day trip out of Vegas to get away from the crowds. Didn't have time for the mine tour which runs around 90 mins. Plan on around three or four hours to take it all in! Will definitely be back!

I recommend stopping by on your way from Vegas. the ghost town is located in a picturesque location. the views are impressive. I think, it's definitely worth a visit. but it seemed to me, that there was nothing special to see there. admission costs $1 and can be considered free. and the woman, who works in the store, is very nice and friendly!

Town of Nelson still has residents, not sure if it's really a ghost town. The Techatticup mine reconstruction is not true to the area, all items have been collected by the owners and staged. This does not mean it's not a great place to visit. Great old vehicles and buildings collected across the southwest, so there is great history behind all the collection there. Great photo ops but they have started charging.
