Archaeological site at a bison cliff jump & a visitor center with buffalo culture exhibits & a shop.
Was a great place to see. The welcome center had a lot of information about it. It was insane seeing where the Buffalo would run too. Nice walk up to the cliffs. we spent about 1 1/2 hours there. I think it was worth the trip to learn about the Indians used to hunt before horses

Nice museum and 3mile hike or drive to the top. Not much to see except beautiful mountain ranges all around you and of course the cliffs.
Kim Stein — Google review
Excellent signage approaching First People's Buffalo Jump from I-15 N. Ample parking, including drop off/pick up area and handicapped parking. Clean restrooms. Bottle filler/water fountain available. The staff members were friendly and gave us easy to follow directions to the upper portion of the park as well as to a nearby Mennonite community. Be prepared for gravel roads. Lower Visitor Area has informational displays that are worth taking the time to see. The park was incredibly quiet for being outdoors - just the sound of the wind. In the upper portion of the park there are prairie dog colonies surrounding the parking area. Take a few minutes to watch for their heads to pop up from their burrows. There are hard surface walkways from the parking area to the top of the jump just a short distance away.

First time there since the name change from Ulm-Pishkin State Park. Some nice visitor center improvements.

A must-see destination when in the Great Falls, Montana area. It's fascinating, educational and enjoyable to see in real time what our Native American friends had to endure to provide food and other things to sustain life on the prarie, with primary focus on the buffalo population. You don't want to miss this great stop!
Tom Szirbik,Sr. — Google review
There is so much history to learn in one place! The staff provides tons of wonderful background knowledge about the area and how to best enjoy the beautiful scenery while learning! The little museum helps you gain a deeper understanding of how important the area was and still is to this day! The gates close at 6pm in the summer and even earlier in the winter so plan accordingly to be able to use the trails!

Very beautiful, would absolutely go here again. There is the site up top and then the gift shop and interpretive center below that has a beautiful gift shop.
Jodi TwoGuns — Google review
This place exceeded my expectations! Make sure to grab a guide book. Would have never picked up on a few things while hiking the trail and learned a lot. All the white spots are buffalo bone chips.
Angela Radloff — Google review
Awesome! We didn't hike up but drove up to top. Great experience. The visitor center was good and the girl from Americorps telling us about the history was so informative and a pleasure to listen to. Highly recommend going out there. A short trip from Great Falls

So much history here. It's such an amazing place. My daughter took me there and you can feel the energy of the past there.
Michael Addison — Google review
Beautiful views, uncrowded. Best to try to go in the morning due to afternoon wind. Prairie dogs and raptors!
Beth Leatham — Google review
Nice small State park. Entire loop trail can be walked in about 1 1/2 hrs. at a very casual pace. There are a couple of spots on the trail that are challenging terrain - such as the cliff access. Observed prairie dogs, rock chucks, rabbits. Observed tracks of other wildlife. Great view of the area at the top!
Nathaniel Ellibee — Google review
The buffalo jump in Ulm is a great place to go for anyone interested in the culture and historical happenings of the state park. The hike up to the cliffs above are moderately easy for anyone to do. Wildlife is aplenty there, including rattlesnakes! There is a cultural center there with pictures and artifacts of all sorts, and the guides there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. If hiking isn't your thing, them you can drive up to the buffalo jump top, and there is an outing for prairie dogs too. Highly recommended for anyone in the area of you enjoy the outdoors.

Even on the rainy, gloomy day this place is breath taking. I drove to the top, walked down to the cliff edge - words can't describe the sheer beauty and size of this pishkin. The view of the upper Missouri Plains can't be described. One can imagine thousands of buffalo below, grazing. You can view the Rocky Mountain front to the west; Highwood Mountains to the east, northeast; Big Belts to the south; Little Belts to the east, southeast; and I think I could even see the Bearpaw Mountains to the northeast.
Amazing customer service, we were lucky to stop by this store and rent our gear. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all the questions we had. Recommending this location 100% and looking forward to come back.
Cristian Ciobanu — Google review
Top-notch staff that went the extra mile to help us with a shuttle when we forgot to leave the keys with the shop staff. The day could have turned out badly without quality folks looking out for us! Your concern for customer service is appreciated!

I stopped by the Headhunters Fly Shop twice in early September, to buy flies and get fishing reports. No one greeted me when I was in the shop, looking at gears and flies. I had to come to the counter to ask the guys who were not serving any customer. I bought the flies recommended by the shop but none of them worked well. I had to resort to using the flies I bought from a fly shop in Wolf Creek two years before, which worked much better.
This shop obviously has too many customers during busy seasons. They have forgot about the right way to serve customers who are not used to unfriendly and unhelpful service.
Hongfei Cheng — Google review
There are good guides and there are out of this world guides. Braden is one of those. I have been out with him twice on the Missouri and each trip has been beyond amazing. He knows his fish and that river. Book him through the shop.
Molly Parks — Google review
Just finished our 12th year working with Headhunter on both lodging and guides. Everything was perfect. Great places to stay and lots and I mean lots of great fishing.
Steve Friar — Google review
Messed up my order, but definitely handled it better than I expected! Originally failed to deliver my Buff in time, but when I called they rectified it and delivered it (rush) with a discount. The customer service over the phone was solid. I attached the pic of the card they sent with my delivery. Recommend them based on customer service, let alone product was as promised.

After a positive experience last year with my brother in law, I decided to bring my wife, who had never been fly fishing, out to fish the Missouri River. Being Great Lakes steelheaders, she had some experience but all floating beads.
We had a two day guided trip out of Headhunters with our guide, Max, who was great with her. He was patient, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. She ended up boating north of 40 fish in two days and smiled the whole time. We will be asking for him the next time we head out to Craig.
I had purchased a starter combo for my wife before the trip but discovered that the reel was defective on day one so she ended up using my rod while I used the defective one. When we got back to the shop, we were directed to Richard as the guy to talk to about fly rods. We ended up buying her a new Sage Sonic and Galvin reel, which she used to catch twice as many fish as I did the second day. Richard was a huge help and she couldn’t be happier with her new setup. We expected to pay a premium for a rod and reel at a local shop on the river but upon checking, pricing was competitive and fair.
10/10 Great shop, great people and great fishing.
Nick Anderson — Google review
2 fish on at same time and both got into the boat and the released. Doesn't get any better Jason is the guy!
Wayne Pittard — Google review
Such an amazing family owned business and they provide an awesome customer support! My son was very excited to learn more about fly fishing and found their shop to rent our gear, but unfortunately the fishing rod snapped in half.. The owners were extremely kind and understanding and helped us have a pleasant experience after all. We highly recommend their services, hope we will go visit them again soon.
Irina Gabor - Ciobanu — Google review
Fished with Kurt this week he worked hard for us and we got on some nice fish, even with the high water. Highly recommend Headhunters for your Missouri river fly fishing needs.
Rick Parks — Google review
We arranged both our lodging and guides through these folks and overall it was a very smooth, professional experience with prompt communication and follow-up. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 was the guide we had for one day was rather unpleasant. Our other guide for several days was fantastic and would love to fish with him again. Would confidently recommend this shop and guide service.
Gates of the Mountains Wilderness is a vast mountain park that features winding trails and a river. It is located along the Lewis and Clark Expedition route, making it historically significant. The friendly staff ensures a pleasant experience for visitors, who can enjoy biking on nearby trails or taking in the beautiful scenery while driving through. The park is conveniently located near Helena and West Glacier entrance. Overall, Gates of the Mountains Wilderness is an excellent destination for nature lovers looking to explore Montana's stunning wilderness.
Great place to visit when near Helena.

Nice park, friendly staff. Close to West Glacier entrance and to good bike trails!! Take time to go over to Whitefish. Beautiful place to live.

It was wonderful our guide was very knowledgeable about the Lewis and Clark Trail and the fire jumpers when that all started and I remember seeing and hearing stories and I did see a movie on it and he was right there on that next time I'm going to get me some books but this is something I will never for get

Wonderful place to get out on a trail and get some solitude ...
Cory Walker — Google review
We went by on a Monday when the boat tours are not in service. I don’t know if it is worth the stop if you can’t go out in a boat. The view isn’t that spectacular just from land. Certainly pretty but not sure it’s worth going out of your way to see. Just FYI for those considering adding it to their road trip.
Megan Minkley — Google review
The Gates of the Mountain boat tour is wonderful!!! We bring our assisted living residents over every summer from Butte, MT. Everyone that works there is so accommodating and helpful. Since we have such a large group, they assist us on and off the boat, deliver our food from the snack bar and carry our coolers. The information on the tour is fun and interesting. They are absolutely the BEST! We have never had a bad experience there. It is so wonderful to be able to provide such a great experience to our assisted living residents. Thank you!
Tonya Kish — Google review
The boat tour was absolutely beautiful!
I'd definitely bring my parents, when they come to visit, if it's just a boat tour.
I'm only giving 4 stars, because of the dinner, what we paid was not worth it, at all! $59 for a steak dinner.....I didn't get a steak, I got 4 thin cut strips of steak, some potatoes and a salad. My husband said the chicken w/ fettuccine was good....but again, not worth what we paid
Ski runs & terrain parks on 3 peaks known for winter sun, plus cross-country trails through valleys.
Great Divide Ski Area is far beyond 5 stars. Their amazing customer service continues to amaze me after years of bringing my family. Their instructors are second to none and you feel like family. It is not the lavish resort, but in today's world I would much rather have caring, understanding people with great customer service than anything else. We will be coming back to Great Divide for years to come.

Quiet little mountain. It's so nice that they make their own snow to help a dry/warmer season. The chairlifts are short with short lines. The ability to rent equipment out or fix and repair a broken piece of equipment is so nice to have in a pinch! Having lights and open hours during the evening is pretty awesome as well!! Absolutely loved it and will be coming back!

This resort was super cool and very accommodating. We had originally set up for a whole snowboarding private lessons and rental for our children on New Year’s Eve. Then the weather changed and expected to be below zero and horrible for the 31st. With it being our kids first experience we really did not want it to be horrible conditions so we called frantically to see if we could come up on the 30th instead on that morning. With in 1.5 hours we had everything transferred and were able to give our children the experience of a lifetime by learning how to Snowboard. The mountain ended up closing for the whole day of the 31st because of weather so it all worked out perfectly. High recommend this mountain for a family friendly atmosphere and experience.

Absolutely love Great Divide! Not only is it the most affordable ski resort around, but it also offers unparalleled views of the Montana mountains. However, the standout feature for me is the exceptional customer service. The staff at Great Divide are not only friendly, but they truly go above and beyond to ensure that your experience is nothing short of unforgettable. Each and every person working there is a delight to interact with.

Lots of mixed feelings about this place. First the good things: great prices (love the 12 dollar Friday nights), super close to helena which is awesome, and lots of fun features and jumps to practice on. I also love the lodge since it has a fun classic ski lodge vibe and the other huts on the mountains are awesome. The Snow is okay but there are lots of spots with no snow at all. I do understand that this isn't their fault and I like how they compensate by building fun features around the mountain. The only thing that really bothers me is the staff. A younger women inside at the ticket desk was very rude and greeted me with "what do you want". Also the chubby guy with the red beard is SUPER rude and yells at everyone on the lifts. I have tried saying hi and wishing him a good day and he doesn't respond. I’ve also heard him yell at kids. New guy working on the lifts this Friday was very nice though so I appreciated that. The food workers have also been pretty kind. Keep up the great work guys!
Reid Kerr — Google review
Sick ski spot. Tons of space to explore. Found some rocks but also some great runs. Lifts are slow but gives you a chance to tune up with the boys. Food was much better than the typical school yard mystery burger and prices were right on the money.

I am a MT native, born and raised. I grew up skiing at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky. I have raced down Big Mountain and Red Lodge. While those were amazing places to ski, Great Divide has that local and community feel that other ski resorts have lost over the years. This is in my opinion, the BEST place to teach littles how to ski. It is affordable for parents and it is perfect learning terrain on the lower lifts. Also, the rental gear I have seen adults wearing look new, nice, and decent quality that I don’t think you find at other resorts for the price. The kids rentals are awesome. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, they seem to be genuinely concerned for safety and making sure everyone has fun. This is one of those hidden Montana gems that hasn’t quite been discovered yet….for now. Thank you Great Divide for offering us the chance to make ski memories with our kids!
Mary Bengtson — Google review
Super cool small resort with a great vibe. Would love to try out the night skiing and a day with more snow and powder. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend going if you have the opportunity!

Great Divide is an amazing get away not far from Helena. Amazing staff and a great hill. I had an accident on the hill several years ago and the Ski Patrol were so very kind, same great service years later. I will continue to support this business! They have lots of exciting things going on, go follow their social media!
Jacob Holden — Google review
I had a ski lesson with Tom and he was a great teacher! I have never even put on skis before and he taught me all the basics. By the end of 2 hours, I was able to go down a green slop with my sister, albeit slowly!

This place was packed during the weekend. Offers different runs with several lifts, have to wait about 10 minutes though. Staffs work there are really nice and helpful. Worth paying a visit
Such an awesome experience! Absolutely would go back, kids had a great time, they loved filling the buckets, sifting through the shaker and sorting through to find sapphires at the tables. Bruce is amazing, took the kids up to see the industrial sized equipment. Highly recommend and be sure to reserve ahead of time!
Heather Anthony — Google review
The guy Eric that helped us was really nice and gave us lots of information. He explained everything we needed to do and checked in with us frequently. The experience was fun for the kids even on a super hot day. We were there for about 3 hours. Glad we had ice water. Found some good stones too!
Malinda Counsellor — Google review
What a fun day! Loved learning about sapphire mining from Bruce & Eric! Highly recommend this place.
Wendi d — Google review
Great place. We really appreciated how helpful our guide Matt was. He took the time to inspire our budding geologist and really invested in sharing his experience and knowledge with the kids. We came on a cloudy day which made the entire classification process much more pleasant. Bring water and snacks. Plan to make an afternoon out of the experience.
(This review is written on behalf of my 11-year old son) Finding sapphires and garnet was the best part of our trip to Montana. Matt was very helpful and I hope to come back here one day. In total our group came home with 40 sapphires and a few garnets. We also found some pyrite, fossils, and lots of magnetite. If I could give them a 100 star review, I would.
Minerva Kraushar — Google review
We had a great time with Bruce, Bob, and Nina! We were shown the ropes for mining with good instruction and patience. Bruce was particularly interactive and we enjoyed listening to his stories and advice. Out family of five had a nice time and came out with some significant stones! Our kids were 10, 13, & 16 for this. A younger boy (6?) with another family needed a hand keeping entertained. My 16 year old enjoyed the final hunt more than the dusty work required to get there.
Kevin Jablonski — Google review
Shame you can only give 5 stars!
The guys were super nice, down to Earth and informative. I loved every second of it. They showed me around their operation and we're very helpful. I had troubles making a reservation due to my works hours but they were determined and flexible enough to ensure I made my reservation.
Great family experience. Bring water, lots of water, and a big hat. Also be sure to fill up your car before you go. Not required, just bad planning on my part.
Wyatt Hess — Google review
I visited in May, and weather was questionable. Bruce let us come to the mine anyways, and the rain miraculously stayed away. Eric guided us, and let me and my dad stay for about 6 hours digging and sifting and sorting. I went home with several facet grade sapphires, and had them cut. As a geology student, this was a memory that will truly stick with me forever. They were the exact experience I wanted.
Skye Hahn — Google review
Bruce and staff were amazing. Bruce gave us a little tour and gave us some pay straight from the machine he was using. Would highly recommend bringing water and food if you're staying out there for a while.
Michael Balke — Google review
We had a great experience at the Montana Blue Jewel Mine. Matt was great with our 5 and 8 year old kiddos; especially answering all the questions fired at him! I highly recommend this experience for all ages!
Rebecca Boggs — Google review
The best sapphire mining experience in Montana. Sometimes you get lucky and find a clean 8+ carat sapphire, sometimes some that are smaller. You screen the gravel from a pile of dirt which is the same material the mine runs. Your chance of finding a nice gem or two is the same as for the mine owners. I've been here 5 or 6 days of "mining" and always go home with something I can cut. You will also likely find a few garnets. Also note not all of the Blue Jewels sapphires are blue. You will also find pink, yellow, clear and kind of a pale green. They are all pretty!

The Great Northern Carousel is an amusement center in Montana that features a beautiful carousel with 37 hand-carved animals suitable for kids of all ages. In addition to the carousel, visitors can enjoy outdoor musical instruments and watch dog training sessions in the grass area. The indoor setting allows for year-round enjoyment, particularly during cold weather conditions. It's a great place to have fun with family and friends while experiencing unique and entertaining activities.
A magical experience, I felt like a kid again.
They also have a game to play. Get the little rings and toss them in to the box as the carousel 🎠 goes around to win a free ride.
Kristen McNally — Google review
Lots of fun for kids of all ages. Very friendly staff, and reasonable pricing makes for an enjoyable experience for parents as well. A "must-stop" for any families looking to experience Helena at its fullest.
Steven 1383 — Google review
I witnessed a male employee yelling at a female employee and the poor girl started crying. Very unpleasant experience. I will no longer take my kids here especially with this male employee still working there. Such a shame as I love the rest of the workers and the carousel.
Barbara Hemingway-Rossman — Google review
Absolutely stunning carousel and amazing staff. Their friendliness made this outing so special for our grandchildren. They made the day one to remember.
Kathleen Markham — Google review
We got there at noon kids super excited. There were 2 bday parties going. The counter person told us they weren't turning on the carousel until 230. No biggie science center next door. We came back at 215. Sign on the door they were closed. My daughter devastated. Thanks for nothing.
Molly Havi — Google review
Very cool place carousel is indoor for when its it super cold out as in day I visited. Glad to see it open

This is a great place to bring the kids. They love riding and watching the carousel, and the ice cream is delicious.
Christina Tragos — Google review
This is a nice little spot to stop by to enjoy some down time while in Helena. Eat some ice cream and let the kids enjoy a ride on the carousel. Have picky kids? Don't worry! They have so many beautiful animals and creatures for them to choose from!

Enzo Novak — Google review
So much fun and amazing icecream! Perfect place to make some memories with your family!
Kimberly Bolan — Google review
Very cute place for kids. Loved the look inside and how well kept it was. Very clean and the carousel ride was great! Kids loved picking what to sit on which varies from animals to dinosaurs to saucer cups etc. There is a game if you sit on the ends of grabbing a ring from a dispensary while the ride is in motion and throwing it at a clown's net (try to get it in) on the other side, was fun.
The ice cream was really yummy! And they had a small gift shop with t-shirts and stuffed toys.
Ride was $2 per ride. If parents are just monitoring their child it was free for them
We were told if we stayed, the last ride of the day is free, which was around 5:50 pm. But we were busy eating ice cream 😋
Rafs GF — Google review
Carousel ride - great & fun for the kids.
Food & icecream - icecream is good, but the prices are ridiculously OVERPRICED! A small container of nachos for almost 5$.. way overpriced and nothing fancy about them - not worth 5$ at all. Don't waste your money on the food.
L D — Google review
Yes yes yes! Friendly, beautiful, unique and fun! This carousel is a homerun for the whole family. The staff was super nice and the ice cream nachos were delicious! I loved the beautiful glass and art.
Sarah Blu — Google review
So fun! Even to ride the carousel as an adult and get scoop icecream. There was an outdoor large musical instruments to keep kids busy. While I was there, a dog training business was having a session in the grass area. So fun to watch all the different breeds of doggies running around while we had our icecream.
Autie Kennedy — Google review
Didn't eat here but took a carousel ride which was fun. It's cool that they have carved animals that are native to Montana as well as traditional horses. Worth the $2 each to ride it. Clean and well maintained.

We had the best time with our granddaughter! She loved and the helpful guy running the rides was the best! Ice cream topped off the day!
The Cathedral of Saint Helena is a gorgeous Catholic church built in 1914, with impressive twin spires that draw inspiration from Vienna's Votive Church. The stunning architecture is well-maintained, and the steeples tower into the sky while bells clang overhead. Visitors can't help but feel awed by the grandeur of God's glory within its walls. Even young children are enchanted by running around and exploring this amazing space.
Look I was not expecting to have a spiritual experience today. I came to town to visit the place that my family came from. But I didn't really have any idea what I was going to do when I got here. I saw this cathedral from a ways away and decided to check it out. As I got out of the car the bells in the tower began to chime. I claimed the steps hesitantly not wanting to interrupt anyone praying, but the room was empty. I stood in awe of the sight of this place. It took my words. My daughter had questions which I did my best to answer and when it came to the lit prayer candles. She wanted to do one. So together we lit one for our family which is no longer with us. And... It just hit me really deep. This place is a whole different thing, and it's beautiful
Michael Cochran — Google review
Such a spiritual place with incredible craftsmanship. So happy we stopped for a visit. Would love to go to a service there.
Danielle Romanowski — Google review
Absolutely beautiful inside. The organ was playing while we were there. Definitely a site to see in person
angela demski — Google review
This is a beautiful cathedral outside and in. The detail of the church and stained class windows which tell a story are amazing. It reminds me of the beautiful churches in Europe. I sat there awe struck as I looked around and marveled at the Catholic tradition decorating this beautiful cathedral.
Beth Kinsey — Google review
Absolutely stunning gem of a church as beautiful as any European ones I've visited. Breathtaking just being inside, you can't help but to look up in awe and feel small amid the glory of God.
Even our 17 month old seemed pretty impressed! We've *actually* never seen her have so much fun inside a building like that, she was so happy running around and giggling and looking around super excited, it must have seemed like a big fun house to her LOL we couldn't help but let her have fun while trying our best to maintain a respectful level of reverance 😆
Alejandra Zion — Google review
As we drove up just to view from outside with the fall colors, the Bells were tolling. It was just magical. Sooo beautiful! I can't wait to see inside.
Neva Lucas — Google review
Beautiful! A true monument of faith to Helena’s riches of the past. I was fortunate enough to attend a 7am mass. Entered the church in outside darkness and as the service proceeded, the sunrise illuminated the stain glassed windows.
K LOBERT — Google review
Incredibly beautiful, architecture old and very well maintained, easy to find as the steeples were almost to the sky, the bells were chiming as we walked up the stairs.
Vicki Zable — Google review
So beautiful! Some of it reminds me of Rosalyn chapel in Scotland

Beautiful church! Amazing architecture and art.
Jake Ryan — Google review
I didn't expect to be so impressed! This has the feel of an Old World cathedral! There was music piped in that because of the speaker placement and the acoustics of the cathedral itself, made it sound like you were overhearing a rehearsal.
El — Google review
The stained glass is insane but upon entering the air was super thick and felt heavy. Off vibes in this place. Creeped my son out, not sure why but just a different feeling while walking inside it.. still breathtaking stained glass though

Beauty inside and out. Lovely architecture on the outside and gorgeous stained glass windows and other decorative touches on the inside.
The Montana Historical Society, located near the State Capitol, is a museum dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history and culture of Montana. The museum features a variety of exhibits and galleries showcasing native artifacts, Charles M. Russell's art, as well as collections detailing Lewis and Clark's interactions with Montana. This is a must-stop for visitors to Helena, and locals should check in regularly, too. I used to love going in here as a kid and the museum helped spark a lifelong passion for art and history. So... Take your kids! As an adult, I appreciate the wonderfully diverse exhibits on a deeper level. So... Take yourself, grownups!

Got there about an hour before closing and the gentleman at the entrance desk was kind enough to let us take a quick tour of the museum and gallery with no entrance fee. Was great to learn about Montana history dating back from the dinosaurs to the mid-20th century. Also really enjoyed the idealized paintings of Charles Russell.

For a small museum there was a lot to take in. Well organized. Well presented. A lot of local history. Well worth it

Definitely one of the best museums I've been to. Down in Colorado we pay $30 per person on tickets for museums HALF the size of this one! Bring your kids, they'll love it!
The Wilderness Awaits — Google review
I wasn't sure what to expect- in Montana, you never know what might be considered a museum! But there is lots of information about Native culture, the mining rush, how agriculture developed and also how women's roles in Montana were very different historically from the east and west coast. Tickets are only $5 and if you ride Last Chance Train Tour, you get a BOGO coupon for admission. And while I was there, they had a very interesting exhibit on Beer!
Well worth the visit and entry fee. Lovely winding pathways through shade trees and sunny areas. The rose garden is amazing! Lots of little nooks to sit and relax or read a book. Picnic area with gazebo and grass. Kids garden play area too! Make sure to visit the nursery across the street and both gifts stores. A must see is the test gardens on the nursery side as well. They also have a few little cabins you can rent by the night. Charming gardens and a stream running through the arboretum. We will visit again when we are in Helena!

While staying in Boulder, I went up to see Tizer Gardens in late June. Several paths and footbridges over Prickly Pear Creek wind through trees and garden plots with cute sheds and sitting spots. The unique fairy tale theme, variety of trees and flowers, and mountain valley setting were not enough to offset the weedy garden plots and lack of maintenance throughout the park. There is a gift shop, portable restrooms, and a commercial nursery as well.

Beautiful place. Take time to walk around and enjoy. Bring a lunch and enjoy it here.

Wonderful gardens and caretakers to match. Very peaceful & full of love. They provide nice grounds for their local fairies 🧚♂️ It was a pleasure to meet Belva, the owner, and talk plants. My brother volunteered to tell a gardener to not turn on the sprinklers but got the response "better to get a tongue lashing now than a as whipping later" because he was watering his girlfriends favorite garden and he promised to water it every day. Chuck was also a gem Gardener. Thnx

What an amazing little place! This is by far the most creative, cute, quaint, and interesting botanical garden I have ever visited. There are tons of little paths and switchbacks that you might miss if you aren’t looking, and an eclectic mix of art and curios peppered around the gardens. Every time you walk by a spot, you’ll notice a little detail that you missed the first time. It really is a lot of fun. Highly recommend!

This was an unexpected find. My wife loves gardens so, as we travel, we’re always on the hunt. We drove away from Helena about a half hour, then turned off the highway and ended up on a dirt road…. “what are we getting ourselves into”? But even though the entrance looked modest, once we got past the office/shop/store, the place really opened up. The nice lady gave us a great overview of the place, a map with numbers to go by and off we went. Two hours later, we got done! So many hidden curves to explore. And many, many hidden areas with chairs, or a bench, where you can just sit and enjoy the serenity of the gardens. This aspect is so unlike most gardens we’ve gone to. This is really more of an interactive experience. A creek flows right through the gardens, adding to its charm and makes the flowers have sound too. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and takes a lot of time to answer questions. Really worth the entrance fee.

Delightful, whimsical place, with beautiful fall foliage. Darling children's area with fairy and gnome garden. And a dump truck bridge! Can't wait to come back and explore again in spring.

This is one of the most amazing botanical gardens I've visited. I've been to some major botanical gardens at large cities who have multi million dollar budgets and Tizer is nothing like them. It's only 4.5 acres but it's rustic, Rocky Mountain amazing everywhere you turn. There is an amazing amount of wonder in a relatively small space. You have to wander every path and sit in a few different places to really appreciate the beauty. I recommend bringing a book or magazine, grab a lemonade at the gift shop and sit in one of the chairs with your feet in the creek. This is a must see while in the Helena area.
Clint Lunde — Google review
We love to visit the gardens! Today we took senior pictures for 3 high school seniors.
Jennifer Kueber — Google review
Wow. What a disappointment this place was. When you call yourself a botanical garden your raise the expectations very high. This is definitely NOT what I expected. It is a small private garden that was probably good once but has been totally let go. It’s now fully of bare patches, weeds, neglected areas, cheap ornaments and garden furniture that needs returning to the thrift shop it came from. They should be asking for a gold coin donation not $9 per adult. Please stop advertising this place as a botanical garden - it doesn’t come close.
Lee Steenholdt — Google review
If you like to photograph plants, this is the place to be! A wide variety of sculptures, furniture, and knick-knacks add character to the gardens.
First off, absolutely do not go here if you don’t have a high clearance 4x4. The road out there is very rough. I had no issues with a 4Runner TRD. So, assuming you have the right equipment, definitely make the stop if you are driving between glacier and Yellowstone. Very cool to hear the rocks and great views from the top of the pile.
Andrew Barch — Google review
I loved my visit and slight off roading experience. I followed trail 2 for cars and had no issues making to the lot just below the rocks. I only ran into some traction problems once. Please be aware of the signs that show which vehicle type it can accommodate. The drive up is about 20 or so minutes.
I made the trip up in a Tesla Model 3 RWD. Only section I could not do was the final section up to the rocks, which requires an ATV or high clear SUV. It was only a few minute walk up for the lot.
I recommend if you have the time. Hammers are there for your use.
Michael S — Google review
What a cool place. If you have an all wheel vehicle with good clearance I definitely recommend. The road is great until about the last mile/half mile. It's a fairly easy walk up the road though so if you've got a smaller vehicle you can park before the road starts to climb into the cedars and hike in. Super cool, there are hammers and other tools there that you can borrow to test the tones of the rocks.
Kerra Dyreng — Google review
Caution: do not visit unless you're in a high clearance 4x4 vehicle - very rough road! And don't visit after rain or you'll get caught in gumbo. Gorgeous views, fun (bumpy) ride in. The ringing rocks are fun to explore and experiment with. Worth the trip.
goldenlunafish — Google review
A must stop! Really unique experience. Don’t worry about not having a hammer there are some there.
Like everyone has mentioned the last 0.5 miles is not great for low clearance vehicles. Our CRV did not handle the road well. There is a parking area where you can get out and walk the rest.
Katie Pessin — Google review
Very cool. Definitely have to have a high clearance 4WD vehicle. There are hammers there, but just in case I’d bring my own.
K U — Google review
I giggled with joy non-stop!
Perhaps I a simple minded dolt. I prefer to think I simply maintain a boyish joy for life. Regardless, I absolutely loved our visit to this unique rock pile. I scampered almost to the top of the pile gleefully gonging along (one can pretty much tell which boulders to knock by noting the worn spots on them.) It was simply WONDERFUL.
By the way, you don't even need to bring your own hammer. There's an archway laden with all manner of items to use to bang on the rocks.
Yes, it is a tricky road there. Our advice is to take the right hand fork in the road unless you like slow motion roller coasters. I believe pretty much any SUV and most full sized cars would have no problem getting there.
Have fun rock knocking!
Joseph G. Simmons — Google review
I would NOT recommend doing this trail in a car or minivan. I have a fairly capable AWD crossover and I had to stop .8 miles from the top. Could have maybe gone further but possibly damage my vehicle or get stuck. A Jeep or lifted SUV should be fine

State park where Lewis & Clark stayed in 1805, with campgrounds, hiking trails & kayaking.
Very pretty place with lots of fascinating history. Has easy walking trails that are good for dogs and kids.

VERY confusing! We helped others after we figured out where the confluence was. Disappointing!
K. Reid — Google review
I was traveling across i94 and then i90. I’ve been intrigued by the Lewis and Clark expedition for a while and I kept seeing signs along the interstate that it was the Lewis and Clark trail.
So when I saw the sign for this park, I knew it was a key point in their journey. Just a couple miles off the interstate, I took the time to drive there and ended up spending 90 excited minutes exploring. Lots of great history and some good viewpoints you can climb up to fairly easily.
Nick Deford — Google review
We are from Missouri so it was cool to see the Missouri River Headwaters. The ranger followed us to where we parked and was very quick to tell us that it was 8 bucks to park. We paid 8 bucks and spend a total of 10 minutes there. It was weird and not worth 8 bucks but they knew they could get it so they did.
Ryann Conner — Google review
Not what I expected for a state park. Took us a total of a half hour to see it all. Not sure it was even worth the entrance fee.
Mark Preston — Google review
Very interesting place to visit. Nice walk to the headwaters
Linda Shockley — Google review
Visited during the winter and was disappointed. The hiking trails were pretty limited and the "park" seemed to just be random paths along a decently busy highway.
Julia Johnson — Google review
Just minutes off I-90. Fun stop to break up the long drive through Montana.

Missouri Headwaters park has picnic tables with awesome views of the river and surrounding mountains. It's a great place to stop for a picnic lunch and then climb around the rocks behind the pit toilets. I free climbed up the rock face and through the rock window...it makes awesome selfies!

6-8 Oct 2023. Nice campground near the Madison River. A short walk (about 1/2 mile) takes you to the confluence of the Jefferson and Madison rivers, the official beginning of the Missouri River. Short walking trails lead away from the campground. Historic Three Forks is just a few miles away. Campground is well maintained even in the off-season. We found the bees a bit of a nuisance, but otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.
John Pearson — Google review
The most disgusting place I have ever stayed. The outhouse hadn't been cleaned in quite awhile. Feces on the floor and the river of urine. The camp host looks as if he just quit rehab and will not talk to you to even let you know that there is no camping year round. They will just issue you a ticket. The history was awesome. The river absolutely beautiful. Avoid the campground at all costs. For the safety of you and yours don't do it.
Dave Wright — Google review
Excellent place to stop while driving up or down I-90. Great place to stretch legs and see some history. It's really a gem of an experience knowing you are standing at the confluence of the biggest river in the USA and all of the history that goes with it.
The pay station was unattended. There is an outhouse bathroom by the pay station. Recommend walking the mowed trail that goes by the old hotel. . Kids enjoyed the park. We stayed about one hour total.

Nice place to sit and watch the river flow by. Never too crowwded. A pleasant place there are sites that you can have birthday parties or just watch the wildlife. A good place for birders and fishing. Just watch out for the moose. They can be pretty intimidating especially during the rut. A great place if you like to watch the ice flows

We were brought here by our local friends, and totally surprised by this beautiful park. As the “Head” of the longest river in the US, this park definitely left a clear and long lasting memory for my self, and gave me a good story to tell about the great state of Montana!

I didn't go on any hikes but that is an option. Park has a state fee which you put in the envelope upon entering. Drove to the confluence of the Missouri. Pretty neat.
Darrin Roitstein — Google review
It was like going back in time, especially when the beavers were right at the confluence of the Jefferson and Madison Rivers. It was an added blessing to learn that this was discovered by the Lewis and Clark Core of Discovery and that it was also Sacajawea's childhood home. I was also thankful that the advent of silk, and a change in styles, saved the beaver from extinction. Here begins a river of frontier history and culture.
High limestone cliff used by Native Americans for hunting buffalo for 2,000 years.
Very cool place, steeped in history. You can feel the ancients there.
Nice hiking trails, and beautiful views from the top of the jump.
Highly recommended. If you're going by on I-90, it is well worth an hour or two and stop for the experience.
Von Squab — Google review
Take the short walk (uphill) to the interpretive area for lots of information. Amazing, quiet place. I can only imagine the sounds during the historic activity at Buffalo Jump. Worth the hike up the hill.

Great place to learn about Montana history. The hike is short and easy for all ages.
Stephanie Watts — Google review
We spent just a couple of hours with a group at Madison Buffalo Jump State Park, but it was enough to know we will go back. The views along the trails are breathtaking, and the interpretive pavilion provides interesting information about the history of the place and the native people.
A pit toilet and plenty of parking make a visit here easy and convenient.
J & B Tuohy — Google review
It's a lengthy, bumpy ride there however upon arrival you realize why you took the trip. There are different pathways to take and you can walk on them for a good while. We were there for 3.5 hrs enjoying the sites. Moments on top of the mountain where the thin air makes your heart jump out, that's when we would stop and just stare out at once in a lifetime views.

30 miles from Bozeman Hotsprings RV Park. Zero chance to get lost if your phone has a verbal navigator. *! Last 2 miles into Buffalo Jump State Park is a Rail road ROUGH gravel road that will shake your teeth out over 5 m.p.h..
The park ? has a Clean rest room, plenty of parking AND a lock box & envelope to pay if you leave your car. $8.00 for out of state. No water, concession stand, no tables or chairs available. Not my idea of Kid or pet friendly. From your car to the only covered view point info center is 1/4 mile, up hill on a 1 person wide dirt trail. ALL up & down to the Top of the Plateau. 2 miles round trip AND you can get caught in a Thunder storm Down pour with only scrub trees to hide under. STUNNING Magnificent view for those fit enough to make it to the top. Go only as far as your legs/lungs will take you. I am 70. However i have been a laborer for the last 34 yrs. So a little advantage.

Nice trails, but they are not marked well. Walk around the perimeter of the park to get to the top of the Buffalo Jump area. Beautiful views! Worth the trek!

Not to miss when traveling through this part of Montana. A true piece of history, and an amazing place. You can feel the ancients there.
Dr Squab — Google review
Worth the extra drive to get to the trailhead. There is a short mile and a half return hike to the interpretive kiosk and back. Very easy walking and the interpretive displays are very well done.
The longer walk will take you to the top of the buffalo jump itself. Some steep climbs involved. It is not half as dangerous at the top as it sounds. The view across to the Madison River is exceptional.

Beautiful and quiet day hike. Interesting Flora with a couple of different species of native cactus and wildflowers. You can almost feel the history around you here.
Went with my friends and we had SO much fun! It was mentally challenging and definitely pushed us, but we had so much fun along the way. Not too spooky, just good solid vibes that made us immediately want to come back. Thank you so much to the staff for giving us an experience to remember!

Was okay, instructions were given really fast. Wasn't too excited to leave my phone in an unlocked box out front. The room was in need of some basic repairs. It was a well used escape room and you could tell people had tore it apart before and they had kinda tried to fix it.
Kayla Cline — Google review
We had a blast doing the Heist room! The puzzle was well put together and just the right combination of not too easy and not too hard. This was our first time doing a break out room and the beginning instructions were very vague and difficult to follow. We were also disappointed a couple different times when we were asking for a hint and we had to wait quite awhile until the person working was back at their desk. The end felt really brief and anticlimactic. He very quickly went over what we were missing in the last clue we had gotten stuck on, but was very short and awkward and didn't do any of the ending photos with props that we expected. Overall, the room was a great experience, the customer service not so much.
Sarahanne Ortman — Google review
After having an absolutely amazing experience at another escape room in town this one felt like a bit of a let down. The Asylum room felt like it lacked creativity and was unnecessarily complicated. The staff was very nice and engaging-- the actual room was just a bit disappointing.

This was such a great experience! I did it with my 3 other friends, and we had a great time. The owner is so passionate. A “mental” escape room. 10/10 would love to do the other room!!!
Caitie Stansfield — Google review
I did the asylum escape room with my boyfriend and it was honestly the worst escape room I have ever done. There weren’t any lockers for our stuff but rather an unlocked box. The compass we were using appeared to be broken and wasted the majority of our time trying to figure it out. At the end when he came into the room I asked him what we were supposed to do with one of the clues and he said it had nothing to do with escaping the room. Then why was it locked in the drawer if it was useless?? Definitely will not be going back to this place; it was a waste of money and the rooms are supposed to be challenging and fun not impossible and frustrating.

The hot spring pool at Norris Hot Springs flows into a cool spray system which makes it a fun place to relax. The campground has a live music venue in the evening, and is family-friendly during the day.
My husband and I are from Southern Illinois and visiting Livingston for our honeymoon and stumbled upon Norris Hotsprings. We were looking at a couple of venues for hot springs and what stood out the most about Norris' location was that we could book a private soak. Let me tell you the price was well, WELL worth it. 26° outside and the water was the perfect temperature. The gal behind the counter was helpful, personable, and an absolute joy to speak with. The 2 hr time slot was a perfect amount of time to decompress and unwind, with champagne and food to enjoy as well. They also had a gorgeous and talkative old "man" who graced us with his presence for a few minutes! 10/10 will be back whenever we make it back out here!

A unique spot to visit !
No chlorinated water or treatment of any kind as the spring flows at 60 gallons per minute.
Pretty nice place for a dip & a healthy bite to eat (or a drink if you’re into that kind of thing.)
I like the live music year round on the weekends. Get there early !
Only one pool & no cold water dip (there is a cold water sprinkler of sorts in the one pool.)
A spot to enjoy if you’re camping, floating or fishing on the Madison river.
A Montana tradition not to be missed !

"You're simply the best, better than all the rest." I've been coming here all my life and while yes, it's busier now, only because it's wonderful! It still is what it always was- a natural wonder with better food and better atmosphere.

We had a private 2 person soak in early January/winter for 2 full hours and loved every minute of it. From the excellent water and temperature to the perfect playlist, music level, and vibe, this was an awesome experience. Not quite snow on the ground, but a nice crisp air in contrast to the perfect temperature water.
The bartender, Miles, was perfect - just the right amount of checking in on us and offering more food or drinks and mainly just leaving us alone to soak. Beer/wine/kombucha and great food without having to leave the water.
A perfect two hour experience and well worth it. I hope this place stays exactly like it is, wood floor and walls, minimally developed (just enough), and a great vibe.
No idea how it is when there's more people there, but I imagine this draws a great crowd of people who are comfortable with it exactly how it is, and it's still fun and worth a visit during the open admission periods.

Though the food/drink next to the pool is slightly weird, I appreciated it in the end.

I had a great time here for a 1.5 hours trip, even in the rain! Very casual and small, but the local food and bar was a lovely bonus. It was perfect as a solid traveler, the pool made it easy to talk to strangers and hang. Would definitely go back.

Nice pool for adults to hang out, kids too. $10 per adult. Wooden benches line the edge so you can sit and soak up to your shoulders. There is cold water spraying into the “pool” from above and that makes it cold when the wind blows. Food available menu has salads, nachos, pizza, rice bowls etc. also, ciders and beer. Changing rooms available and porta potties.
jennifer Taylor — Google review
We spent two nights at the affiliated campground here and had to spend a few hours soaking in the hot spring. It's a really cool pool with a wood slat bottom. They cool the water to around 100 degrees so it's comfortable, and have cold water spraying over part of the pool so you can cool off if the heat gets to be too much.
The real winner here was the attached garden-to-table bar and grill which had plenty of food and drink options. Many items on the menu are prepared with fresh ingredients from the extensive on-site garden!
Definitely a great way to spend an afternoon.

Very quaint hot springs in the town of Norris. The water is a perfect temperature with a wood base . Beautiful drive along the River . The hot springs does not provide towels or lockers so make sure you have a towel and be prepared to leave your belongings either in car or not locked up. They do serve beer and food. Service was ok. Very crowded the days we went on a Sunday. Plenty of parking. They also have RV sites .

I somehow had high hopes for this place but it turned out to be a disappointment. The pool itself didn’t seem very clean and hygienic. The bottom of the pool was filled with moss and very slippery. It made me nervous. The restrooms and the changing rooms were stinking of pee. The food and drinks were good and that’s the only plus. I wish the pool was better maintained. The scenery around was very nice.

When I reserved two nights at this campground, it was only $33 per night (it's since gone up to $50/night). Given that and the "middle of nowhere" factor, I came into it with low expectations of a short stop on our way to Yellowstone.
What we got here, rather, completely blew me away. My only gripe is that the sites are very small - not enough room for a picnic table on the narrow site. However, the bath house was one of the nicest and cleanest I've ever seen. The surroundings are beautiful, and the access to the hot springs made it a great experience. There was a lady doing landscaping who was one of the hardest working people I've ever seen, and it shows in the beauty of the place and surroundings.
At $33, it was a steal. But even at $50 its still a solid value. Highly recommend!

My father and I had a wonderful 1/2 day float on the Madison with FishTales outfitting last week. He is one of the top guides I have fished with in any situation.
Mike did a great job of instruction for my 73 year old father who had never fly fished before and was only able to sit (not stand) in the boat. He was excellent at positioning the drift boat to give dad the best opportunity resulting in multiple hookups and several trout landed - dad's first fly rod fish of any kind!
Mike's patience, knowledge, sense of humor, and kindness were on display throughout the day - he even laughed at dad's stories!
While doing all of that Mike also managed to keep a slightly more experienced angler busy and productive by pointing out runs and pockets to cast to, honing my technique and teaching me how to fish streamers on the Madison. Mike's knowledge of the river allowed us to be prepared for the upcoming pockets of fish holding water in time to make the appropriate casts and his expertise in the drift boat was evidenced by his positioning the boat to allow the most productive drifts, including long drifts of the fly near undercut banks.
All of this with a friendly, easy-going guide and beautiful scenery made for an outstanding trip. I hope to fish with Mike Stack and FishTales Outfitting again if I get back to the area. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great fishing experience.

I had two incredible days on the Big Hole with LaMont Carter, couldn't ask for a better guide! Lots of fish to the boat both days, including several over 19 inches. If you're thinking about fishing the Big Hole, think FishTales and LaMont. You won't be disappointed.

In March of 2013, I floated the Big Hole River on two seperate occasions with Mike Stack of FishTales Outfitting. Both trips were excellent! Mike is a very experienced guide. He reads a river and positions the boat for success after success. Mike is patient, attentive, and calm. He even takes the time to make personalized videos of the adventure for his clients...super cool with underwater releases! If you want to catch respectable fish (20" trout or larger) and have a great day on the river with an experienced guide....FishTales Outfitting!

Had a great day on the Big Hole with Troy. First time back in MT in a very long time for my Dad and I. Mike and FishTales set us up with Troy and we had a fantastic day. My dad and I have been fly-fishing for 15 years and we still fish with Mike everytime we are in Montana. He is a cool guy, an amazing guide, and a great teacher. We have fished with him on the Madison, Jefferson, Big Hole and the Beaverhead and had tremendous success everytime. He will work hard all day to make sure your fly floats through every hole in the river. He will even row back UPSTREAM to let you float through the good holes again. Awesome dude to fish with whether you're an expert or a beginner. Hope to fish with him again soon!

The guys and girls did a great show definitely recommend this show for the money had a great time lots of laughs. The show is geared to baby boomers probably in their 60s or older.

Okay okay okay. So, let me start by saying I showed up with completely different expectations then of what actually transpired.
WHICH WAS FABULOUS!!
I will state that if you have not done so, please do your research...this is not for everyone.
I had a great time! No regrets. Would do it again!

I would give 0 stars if that was possible. I have been wanting to see this show for years. But within 10 minutes of the show starting, I was absolutely disgusted with the amount of homophobic jokes that were being spewed. Not only that, but then came the racist jokes and my husband and I literally got up and walked out. If you are an evolved human I would not recommend this red neck show. I have no idea how anyone could sit through that. These "actors" should be ashamed of themselves.

Really amazing fun show! The humor was off the charts. I wish I had been in a better frame of mind but none the less the cast and crew were still very understanding and welcoming. It felt like an honor to be part of the show. Thanks so much! Encore!

Great comedy. We really enjoyed this year's skits.
Ben Cline — Google review
I have been coming here many years and it is our favorite place to come and see funny familiar faces. This year we were a little disappointed, the skits are more musical like and mild compared to the funny raunchy sarcastic humor to the previous years. The best part of the entire performance is Fred! He writes his own music and plays beautifully. Please guys! Bring back the raunchy humor! We wouldn’t miss another year for nothing!

I can't stop telling people about this place. The staff who check you in and serve you all also perform. They are friendly and hilarious. You will want to come back to see the next time they reinvent the show. It's ever changing with current events and def not for the easily offended. Nobody walked out when I was there because it was just too darn funny. Lots of crowd engagement and improv. Hands down the best comedy show I've been to in quite a while. Absolute must if your in town.

Amazing comedy show we’ve been going for the last 20 years
Looks like a great building it was locked up tight when I visited. Here are some pictures from throughout the city of Virginia City! Cool place to visit but make sure you do it between Memorial Day and Labor Day otherwise most doors will be locked. Only locals hanging out

Amazing hike! Well kept trail. WILDFLOWERS GALORE!
Zachary Weisenthal — Google review
Great views all the way up the trail went on a Saturday morning and saw a few other groups. Beautiful scenery. Took us a little over 3 hours to hike to the lake and back.
Spencer Morgan — Google review
What a great hike! It's around 7 miles if you do they whole up and back. Early on you hike through beautiful wildflowers and sloped alpine meadows. Keep your eyes open for moose (although we didn't see any on this trip) sitings. Once you get about 2 miles in the trail has some steep sections. At the top you have gorgeous alpine lake that even holds fish for those who bring a fly rod with them. Get there early on most days as the parking is limited.

Beautiful trail. So much to see and enjoy. Never boring. Love it.
M Maz — Google review
Absolutely stunning trail - no wonder the locals find this place special! Not too crowded and trail is clearly marked all the way up. Definitely worth stopping a couple times to take in the views. Gets chilly at the top - so be prepared! Would definitely do this hike again.
Julia Walfoort — Google review
Beautiful hike but very well known and busy. If you prefer solitude, come here off season. Still amazing and worth it. Little under 7 miles total and 1500ft of elevation gain - nothing bad.
Stephen G — Google review
What a beautiful hike! It was long about 7 miles round trip and part of it steep but we were surrounded by gorgeous wild flowers. The scenery reminded me of the movie, Sound of Music in the Swiss Alps.
As you climbed higher, the views got better. Be ware of the altitudes and bring plenty of water.
It’s a popular hike and the parking lots can fill up quickly.
Kit Lai Pine — Google review
Parts of the trail are slippery and icy. Highly recommend wearing ice grippers. We didn't have them and two of us slipped on ice going up and one slipped on the way back down. The trail steadily elevates (which I knew beforehand), but I'm not used to the elevation at all, so getting enough oxygen was the limiting factor. Don't forget to take that into consideration when deciding whether to go on this trail if that is a factor for you as well. We got halfway through before we turned around. The way back was easier, but more dangerous because of the icy areas. Probably won't be that much of a problem for those that hike outdoors in this type of weather regularly, but if you don't, this is another thing to keep in mind. Views are very nice though. We also saw bear tracks, so don't forget your bear spray just in case.

Beautiful country and views! The trail was pretty muddy and snowy today. With stops and pics our hike took 3 hours and 45 minutes. GPS said it was 6.5 miles to the basin.
Kyle N — Google review
Get here early if you want a quiet hiking experience as tons of folks show up throughout the day! The basin itself is unremarkable, but bushwack up another 500 feet in elevation for gorgeous views.
The Big Sky Resort is introducing renovations to its Huntley Lodge and Summit Hotel, featuring over 200 guest rooms with updated and spacious designs. The hotel remains family-oriented with the inclusion of bunk bed lofts in select suites. Additionally, a new high-speed chairlift will be available for visitors to enjoy. This mountainside condo hotel offers upscale accommodations with sophisticated interior decor, complete with an outdoor pool for relaxation.
Great skiing at Big White. We had a wonderful Christmas in April with over 30 inches of new snow in a week. Terrain is awesome - from beginner to world class expert. Steeps, breathtaking views, tree skiing, blue cruisers, and big terrain park - there's something for everyone. I love the bubble chair lifts with heated seats. The village is small but has lots of character. We stayed at the Huntley Lodge and it was great, nicely updated. Will be back again soon.
Tiho Tarnavski — Google review
Great resort. Lots of run options, large ski lifts with bubbles to protect you from the weather. Lines are short due to large and fast lifts. The staff is fantastic. The map shows lots of beginner hills. Brought my boys who are beginners and I think they are overly optimistic as many of the beginner slops are more advanced. Great place for experienced skiers not as great if you are a beginner.
Dale Wills — Google review
This ski resort is HUGE. You could easily spend 2 days here and not repeat a run. The amenities are awesome. Heated seats on some lifts. Covers to pull down over you when it snows. They have great areas for beginners— our 7 year old had a great time. But also double black options for experts. I love that they have an excellent adaptive ski program associated with the resort. We didn’t find that until the day we left, but still be back to have our daughter with Down syndrome take a class. The lift tickets here are pricey. No question. We used our mountain collective passes which made that part easier to swallow for us. 2 days at Big Sky almost parts for the entire pass.
Brooke BB — Google review
Huge! You would need several days to ski the whole resort, there are lots of various terrains and excellent lift and staff. The mountain is beautiful and you gotta go to the top if it's a sunny day! The base is not very good this year considering it's already March, I stuck on rocks multiple times when ski on seemingly untouched powder. Very easy to find parking and shuttles are very frequent if you park far from main base.
Yizhi Zheng — Google review
I booked the condo my friends own in Village Center for the week. The condo itself was very nice and clean, and the front desk staff members were friendly during my few interactions with them.
The relatively few on-resort dining establishments that were open were somewhat often closed during their posted business hours, leaving us to eat something we didn’t want or go off-resort.
The check-in process was confusing, and involved going to a different building than where we were staying, only to have someone escort us to another parking lot after quite a wait and get us checked in at the building where we were staying. I’d rather have been able to go to our parking area directly.
I was to park in the owners’ lot per my friends, but it was closed for an event the weekend we arrived. It was open after that for parking, but we were never given the code we asked for to access it, and had to park farther away during our time here. It was no dealbreaker, but for what it costs to own a condo here, I’d think the owners’ lot should always be available for them and their guests to use.
The hiking/biking trails and the disc golf courses are excellent. The hiking and biking trails are fantastic. The resort itself is in a beautiful location. It’s an outstanding place to get away and recharge.
Overall, the stay was very enjoyable, and the minor annoyances were acceptable considering the rates available at the time I booked. For people paying the current asking prices to stay here, the resort should do better.
Ed Wilson — Google review
Had a fantastic week here March 10-18. Great dump of snow midweek to give a couple of days of fresh powder - terrain is amazing with broad spread of difficulties from green all the way to triple? black diamond runs... The lifts are efficient and mostly with short lines. The tram system to the top of Lone Peak is a pay as you go system, with an additional daily fee on top of your existing lift pass. This cost varied from $50-80USD/Day and is based on expected demand. The tram caries only about 10-12 people each time, and only leaves every 5minutes or so, hence the wait times can be very long to get the lift (we waited 65 minutes), even when they only seem short in length. On a powder day, you feel a bit like you're letting the day go to waste a bit by standing around... But the terrain on lone peak is less travelled, so snow is less tracked. We had a deep powder run down Liberty Bowl (waist-deep powder) which was minimally tracked, so even for the cost of the tram add-on, I am still glad we did it!! It was phenomenal!!
Overall, not the cheapest place to have a family ski holiday, and probably would find a trip here with my whole family too cost prohibitive, but as this was taken as part of a conference trip, the tax deductible nature of many expenses made it pretty affordable overall...
Peter Delisser — Google review
Disclaimer trail maps make it look bigger than it is. It’s still massive. Don’t take the moose lift, it’s 20 minutes with no bar. But the glades are perfect. The bowl is fun. The catwalks are are long and the trails are smooth

This was an incredible and fantastic adventure. It is a thrilling activity surrounded by the gorgeous Gallatin National forest. Our zip-line guides were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this zip-line to anyone visiting the Yellowstone or Bozeman areas.
Only one word of caution, please check their website for weight by restrictions for safety. You can also rent a mountain bike, you can bike from top to bottom. There’s a lift that can take you to the top.

I have to say that we were truly amazed with the facilities, activities, food and service. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We came in July to visit some of the area’s national parks and wished we would have stayed one extra day to spend time on the grounds. We stayed in the Huntley Lodge and our breakfast was included in the Chet’s Restaurant. You never really have to leave the resort and there is no shortage of activities. Highly, highly recommend staying here!

I live and work at the big sky resort, our snow paths are phenomenal, a lot of various locations to rip the Nar worth every minute. The area host several events yearly such as archery, weddings, snow events, hiking events. Really worth looking into if you are a fellow Nomad like myself.

We had been coming to Big Sky for decades until they raised the ski rates a while back. However, we were able to take advantage of the early season ski and stay prices. The new upgrades on this mountain are surely worth it. Heated chairlifts, no lines, great customer service!!! Food was great and everyone was very helpful and friendly.
Geoff at Huntley Lodge was great and our first point of contact at checkin.

If there's ever a place suitable for skiers and boarders who have not once been on the slopes as well as those who have been on the slopes from the time they were in diapers, Big Sky is the place to be. It is truly massive, so much variety of terrain, amazing snow quality and gorgeous views. You want to do it Big, you do it at Big Sky.

The Good
- The Huntley Lodge is very nice and comfortable. The pool/hot tub area is nice however the jets were not working in one of the hot tubs.
- The breakfast was great! Plenty of choices and a great meal to start the day.
- The Peaks Restaurant and Cabin Bar & Grill were outstanding. Great dinners at both.
- Loved the Exchange area to get a quick bite, drink, and pickup groceries - however the lines for checkout was long and slow.
- The demo shop was great! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
- Ski valet guys were friendly and considerate.
- The skiing was fantastic! Lift staff were great!
The Bad
- Bell people didn't ask if we needed help with our bags when we arrived. We weren't directed to the ramp to roll our bags up.
- Check-in person had a bad attitude and was not helpful. Didn't solve problems especially for those who are first-timers.
- A lot of room noise from floor above. Walls and ceilings don't limit noise well.
- A lot of misdirection and miscommunication from ski rental shop when returning ski equipment.
- Ski instructors are great but more helpful when either be asked to help or being paid for a lesson.
We had a great time at Big Sky and would recommend it. I believe there may be need for additional training in soft customer service skills.

Very nice resort that is huge. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. My only complaints are the prices of everything. Be prepared to spend a lot of money if you come to visit or want to ski. We did a full day on Saturday February 4th, with lift tickets and rentals, and our son did a ski school for his age group (age 7). We wanted to do a half day Sunday. My buddy who did a full day Sunday paid $248 for a full day ticket, while I got a half day ticket around 1 pm for my son and I and it was $200 for me and $130 for him. He was a beginner and did not get off the magic carpet. That’s one thing that’s not clear on the website if a lift ticket is required or not for the magic carpet, or if I needed one to help him or not. Another thing was at the end of his lesson on Saturday his instructor said that they offered half day lessons and we should sign him up for Sunday. When we went to sign him up for Sunday we were told they don’t do half day lessons for his age group, that we could book a half day private lesson for $875 or a full day private lesson for $1075. Two waters at Madison village was $10.75. So just prepare to spend about double on everything. Nice resort with lots to do just budget accordingly.

Big Sky is arguably the best ski resort in the continental US. I like it because there is so much variety in terrain. The only negative is the village is not at the resort unlike Vail or Whistler, so you have to drive a couple miles to have more food, beverage, and entertainment options.
Peter G — Google review
Dangerous ski place. Very crowded and the ski patrol does nothing to control the situation. There is a separate area for beginners but it full of teenagers going 100 mph going back to the lift. I saw several colitions and serious falls in a green run called Mr K and it was supposed to be a "slow" area.

Beautiful place but it’s up on the mountain not in the little town. It’s an absolutely beautiful drive up here from big sky.
Service was excellent, including a call letting us know the restaurants up in the hotel were closed because of the off-season.
Would probably be incredible to stay here if you were skiing.
Room rates in big sky are insanely high. But got a decent rate for this place online prepaid.

Great ski hill but man the conditions are rough.
The atmosphere is wonderful. DJ in the evenings. Almost a steamboat party vibe.
Runs are slightly shorter.
Not a fan that you have to pay for the tram. But I guess it keeps down the traffic.
A lot of chair lift issues and the lines have been pretty long
Charissa Kopecko — Google review
I spent a week snowboarding at Big Sky with friends. The mountain is fantastic. The scenery beautiful. Nice long runs at all levels. Nice lifts. No long lines. Only negative is the cost of the lift tickets. Very expensive.
Ray Lopez — Google review
I recently visited Big Sky Resort and had a truly enjoyable experience. The resort offers stunning views, excellent facilities, and friendly staff, making it a great destination for ski enthusiasts.
However, I feel it's important to mention that the pricing seems quite steep, especially considering that more than half of the mountain was closed during my visit. While I understand the costs associated with maintaining such a large resort, a daily lift ticket price of $234 felt excessive given the limited access. It would be beneficial for guests if the pricing reflected the actual availability of the trails and facilities.

Great place to ski! Amazing area. Slopes for everyone of all skill levels. There is no way anyone could get board here. The staff is extremely friendly. The drive to get there is breathtaking seconded only by the views from the slopes.

Still has ski maps THANK YOU!!! I didn't actually stay at the resort but I did ski 3 days and I want to say as someone who doesn't want to fumble with phone on lift, still having paper ski maps was VERY nice. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful mountain and gorgeous resort. As an amateur skier, I was surprised by the difficulty of the runs, but really enjoyed them all. Little to no line for the lifts, nicely groomed runs, variety of food options, and excellent lift service. Every Monday and Wednesday they have avalanche dog meet and greet, which was a lot of fun and educational. Highly recommend visiting Big Sky for your next ski/snowboard trip. Keep in mind the drive from Bozeman to Big Sky can be difficult at night, even in great conditions.

We spent New Years Eve at Big Sky and then Jan 8th at Big Sky for snow biking. We were up at Madison Village for the snow biking. The guys at the rental spot were nice and helpful, and making sure our 10 year old was comfortable. The snow bikes are highly recommended! They are so much fun! People operating the ski lifts were also helpful to slow or stop the ski lifts so our daughter could load and unload safely.

Food was far too overpriced for the the quality we received. Good fries though. Also, the hostess was very rude to my party and I only on having just arrived. Then she proceeded to say we couldn’t sit separately from each other even though there was 12 of us. Her tone was almost as if she was too good to be seating us. Would’ve probably got a 4/5, but the service was terrible. (Edit after receiving owners response) Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review, but I think you're misunderstanding how Google Reviews works. Google review is a wonderful system that allows consumers to review a place or establishment, while simultaneously giving feedback to others and establishments. You good sir/ma'am are taking this FREE feedback and time spent by others and wiping your butt with it. This feedback should be gratefully accepted and used to improve your business. Also let me inform you to why Customer Service is important because you fail to realize. It allows the customers to enjoy themselves and entices them to come again, but what do I know? This has been by far one of the most beautiful trails I’ve ever done. Total of one mile down and one mile back. The trail is easy to walk through snow, has amazing scenery perfect for pictures and has good signage to let you know where to go. Plenty of picnic tables and benches to sit on.

A great trail, and is handicap accessible. My daughter made the trek with us, but there are steep inclines up and down the trail. Several bumps could present problems for wheelchairs also but is a manageable trail with spectacular scenery.

Gorgeous place. One of the best waterfalls i have been to. Well kept trail and plenty of benches. So many spots to look at along the way and access top and bottom of the falls. easy enough hike. Be prepared for some mosquitoes though. We got bit. There are some slightly dangerous spots so watch your kids. it was fairly busy on a summer late afternoon weekday. We got there a bit late and had the falls to ourselves for a bit though. Check out the top and bottom area

It is a flat trail full of switch back elevation changes. Check the time of year to make sure the paths are clear. Some snow and ice may be on the paths in May. Absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Worth the walk. Go to the large falls since you can go to the base and top of the falls.

The water was extremely cold, but it was fun to swim in. The hike was amazing alongside the sights you get to see along the trail. The people we met were very friendly and taking pictures is a huge thing here for everyone. So, do be careful not to photo bomb and ask to take pictures with everyone else. Quite an amazing experience and must need to travel.

EXCELLENT! The Ousel Falls Trail was maintained very well and signage was visible and abundant. Beautiful trail with gradual switchbacks, bridge crossings and a beautiful set of falls that reminded me of Oregon/Washington Coast. This trail is maybe .5/.7 miles back and same distance back out. Great way to spend a small portion of the day. There are some picnic tables along the way, pack something to eat and enjoy the views and sounds of the falls for a few...please make sure to pack out whatever you brought with you👍🏻

This place is absolutely beautiful! The hike itself is very easy and you can get in and out in less than an hour. Different trails to choose from and there is a bathroom on site. This is a new fave for us!

Ousel Falls is a BEAUTIFUL waterfall!! Easily one of the most impressive in this area of Montana. Best thing is? It is very easy to get to! The trail is paved, which even makes it handicap accessible (albeit with some steeper parts), and it’s a nice 20-minute stroll to get to the main falls. Don’t think it’s boring along the stroll though - you have beautiful views of the trees and river and other scenery all along the path!
In summer, it’s a pretty popular destination. Many people in Big Sky visit with their dogs just to get their exercise in, and after it rains the falls are even more impressive. Try to time your visit after some heavier rainstorms (of course keeping in mind it’ll be muddy, so wear proper shoes)!
In winter, the falls are even more beautiful. They are pretty much entirely frozen, and you can walk right up to the ice! It is otherworldly seeing so much ice around, even if you’re from Big Sky! As an added bonus, way fewer people come in winter, so you might have the whole park to yourself! Do keep in mind though, it is quite slippery walking down to the waterfall in winter, especially if there have been some warmer days before your visit (as melting and re-freezing forms ice on the path), so be very careful when you’re visiting, and bring shoes with proper treading!
All in all, this is a must-visit when you’re in Big Sky. Whether you’re coming to the area in summer to visit Yellowstone, or in winter to ski up at the mountain, take one morning and head down to Ousel Falls. You’ll not be disappointed!

We stayed at a Chalet on 320 Ranch and had an amazing time! The staff are all very friendly, helpful, and accommodating- especially Kaitlyn! The Chalet was beautiful! Very clean and comfortable. We borrowed games and puzzles from the front desk, had fires in the fire place every night, and were lucky enough to get to eat in the restaurant on site as well. The Ranch is in a beautiful location, with gorgeous views anywhere you look, even from the giant windows of our Chalet cabin. We got a lot of snow while visiting, and the roads and paths were always plowed and easy to walk on. We got to do a sleigh ride, which I highly recommend! I can’t wait to come back and visit, next time in the summer!

If you’re looking for an authentic ranch stay experience with conveniences of being close enough to both west Yellowstone and restaurants etc in Big Sky, this is the place! Cabins were clean and spacious with convenient small kitchens in your cabin, the activities were well executed and worth the additional fees, staff was friendly and attentive and the scenery can’t be beat. The included breakfast was simple but convenient and appreciated. The coffee at the Cafe was very good! We would definitely stay here again!

Our horse sled ride was great and our guide was very kind and knowledgeable about the history of the farm and the area. Very interesting to learn about! The stop at the heated tent with a fire, snacks, homemade game chili, and warm drinks (some spikes for the adults) was a fun experience! This sleigh ride is much more affordable than others, leaving you with more of your budget to book other experiences in the area. We also had dinner at the restaurant there and it was delicious!

We did not stay at the Ranch but did participate in wanna be a wrangler and trail rides. First, I want to thank Cyndi, the activities director, for assisting with scheduling. She was very helpful.
Wanna be a wrangler- our 4 year old participated in this. The ladies running this really engaged him, he loved trying to rope, he loved getting a chance to sit on a horse. He really enjoyed the activity.
Trail ride: one of the best I’ve ever been on. Helmets available and we always choose to wear one. Guides and what seemed to be a director for stable thoroughly matching horses to rider experience, horse personality. Adjusted saddle and stirrups several times to ensure comfort and proper fit. The trail itself was beautiful, right along a river. Guides knowledgeable about area, horses and very personable. My daughter and I had a fantastic time and would not hesitate to return.

My coworkers and I had the best time at 320 guest ranch! We stayed here while on a business trip to Big Sky and it was such a great retreat. The property is stunning with a convenient but secluded location. It was easy for us to commute both into town in Big Sky and down to Yellowstone. With our cabins right along the river and beautiful horses on property, we were stunned by the beauty of the entire experience. We also had a chance to dine at McGilI's, the restaurant on property, and the food was amazing. I will absolutely be returning with family and friends!

We love 320! My husband and our two dogs first visited in 2020, then 2021 and now again in 2023. It was fantastic in 2020 and is still fantastic now. The cabins are so cozy and clean. All cabins have great views, charcoal grills and the best porches (with Adirondack chairs). We’ve stayed in the deluxe cabins which have ceiling fans, two sinks, one bathroom, mini fridge and microwave. They have great office hours, on-site horseback group rides and a trout filled pond with available fly fishing lessons. There’s also laundry on site but not sure if that is coin or card operated, we’ve never had to use it. The breakfast is great, bar is a super fun spot to stop by for a ‘night cap’ and the land / walkways always feel very safe. Stars are gorgeous at night, volleyball net in front of the river facing cabins and a few corn hole boards throughout the site. The dogs always feel more than welcome too :) They get to safely enjoy living the ranch dog life, swimming in the river and running around in the grassy fields in front of the river facing cabins. They also send their regards to the chef… they love the bacon and sausages from breakfast! Perfect fuel, to then make the 20-30 drive to all the nearby dog friendly hikes (beehive basin, lava lake and storm castle are our favorites). Again, I can’t boast enough how much we love 320! Great for friends, couples, kids and seniors alike.

We enjoyed the 4:00 pm appetizer sleigh ride. It was a sunny afternoon and the scenery was splendid. Our guide, Chuck, explained the history of the ranch and added more local info as we chatted at the warming tent. The chili and hot chocolate were delicious and hit the spot. A nice and relaxing thing to do to ease into the evening.

What a gem! We stayed in the McGill Cabin and it was just a great weekend and a great experience. Food was terrific, staff was helpful and welcoming (our car got stuck in the snow and they couldn't have been more helpful), and the location is fabulous. Close enough to Big Sky and yet still felt a bit isolated (in a good way) from everything else. Will definitely return. 10/10.

The sleigh ride was an incredible experience. From the moment we checked in, to leaving, the staff was beyond friendly. The ride itself was a winter wonderland. To my surprise, my boyfriend planned to propose to me during our experience. It was the absolute best place for something so special. I highly recommend the sleigh ride. Thank you so much 320 Guest Ranch!

I really hate to leave a bad review for this place. I’ve stayed here before and just loved it and have even recommended to friends who have also had a good experience. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was amazing, and the environment was great. This time however breakfast was just some grab bars because it was supposedly “shoulder season,” which wasn’t listed on their website and the ski resort is open, so it shouldn’t be shoulder season anymore. That would be one thing, but we arrived and got a fireplace excited for a cozy fire in a cabin. Turns out our wood was soaking wet and wouldn’t light. We spent an hour and a half trying to get it to light and it wouldn’t light. The next morning, after drying inside all night, it finally lit. When we tried to contact the hotel that night, no one answered and there was no one in the office. All that for roughly the price of $300. The next morning at checkout when someone was finally in the office, I told him my concerns he wrote 6, for when we tried to find someone to contact, on a piece of paper and that was it. Overall, not a great experience.

At the restaurant of 320 Guest Ranch in Montana, we had an enjoyable dining experience. The drinks, including the well-made Old Fashioned, were a delight. The bone marrow appetizer was very good, offering rich flavors and a satisfying start to the meal.
Moving on to the main courses, the bison steak and half chicken were both excellent. The food was well-prepared, showcasing the quality and flavor of the ingredients. The vibe of the restaurant truly captured the essence of a dude ranch, adding to the overall experience.
Overall, the dining experience at 320 Guest Ranch was excellent. The food was delicious, the drinks were well-crafted, and the ambiance embraced the spirit of a dude ranch. It’s a place worth visiting if you’re seeking a taste of Montana’s culinary and cultural heritage.

We thoroughly enjoy our stay at 320 Guest Ranch!! So many positive attributes….staff were on top of any need or request. The cabins were cozy and nice and the property is absolutely beautiful!
A few things that could be better were:
The food (breakfast was not very good, however there was always some option).
The availability of horseback riding was limited and wished priority would have been given to guests on site. Our whole group wanted to ride but, only 2 of us were able to. With that being said, it was one of the most beautiful trail rides I had ever been on! The ride went right along the river & the horses went in the water a few times. My inexperienced 8 year old was comfortable and really enjoyed it as well!!
Overall though it was an amazing experience and great location! Short drive to West Yellowstone & Big Sky. We found ourselves driving to the Bozeman area for most activities- tubing, hot springs, etc

The place is beautiful and well taken care of. The free breakfast is a great perk. The cabin was great and I guess we got lucky because there was hardly anyone there. But if you do have someone on the other side of the duplex cabins they have a very thin door between them and it would not have been as much fun. only negative was the floors in the cabin where also very dirty and they canceled some of the events we had scheduled. The fly fishing was fun and its a great location. I would definitely stay their again.

Our stay last week at the 320 was exceptional. What a great relaxing time we had. We are Recharged!! The wranglers we had were awesome. Your activities director was spot on for what we asked for: relaxation, quiet and the most beautiful trail rides. The wait staff, food, drinks were phenomenal. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Our cabin gave us that authentic log cabin experience.

If you are looking for a perfect weekend wedding destination for family and friends to enjoy the wedding while also have an incredible vacation, this is the place for you. We had a wonderful experience working with the staff at 320 and getting everything planned for our wedding weekend of mostly out of town guests. My husband has celiac disease and they were able to make 99% of the wedding day food gluten free and his meals totally safe for him. They gave us such reassurance on the most important day of our lives that he would be safe and healthy and could enjoy his day/meals without any anxiety or concern that he would get sick from cross-contamination. From the initial site visit to clean up the day after, 320 was amazing and just the most wonderful group to work with. We highly recommend them if you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, but really anyone looking for this type of wedding vibe needs to book here!!

We had a lovely stay at 320 Guest Ranch. We enjoyed and would recommend the sleigh ride. Friday and Jack were our horses and we enjoyed the chili, hot drinks, and popcorn. The chili was so delicious! They give you a little history of the ranch on the ride to the fire and everyone was so hospitable.

We love the sleigh ride to the yurt, whenever we have family or friends visit. The wild game chili and mini warm cocktail bar are our favorite. Chuck was our Teamster, he was very informative of the 320 Ranch history and had some fun stories as well.
Highly recommend!

Very cozy, nice, rooms. Convenient location and very spacious. Just wish that under the beds was actually swept and there wasn't cat food, pills, etc. Hiding under there. Also, if the sheets didn't have strange stains that would be nice. They were clean though!

Not sure if I’m receiving spam messages from this hotel, but I booked this hotel a week ago, and hours after booking I received an automatic “thanks for booking” email which is obviously standard for most hotels. Today I received 3 back to back emails all within an hour demanding I click some sketchy link and enter my credit card info to secure my booking. Literally at the bottom of the email it states not to do that because once I have the hotel booked, they already have my card info and secured my booking. Seems very sketchy and grammar was awful which tends to happen with spam emails. Once I didn’t respond to the first 2 emails, they sent another one. 5:23pm, 5:31pm, and the final one at 5:40pm. So I cancelled. Very pushy and honestly felt like a scam.

Earthquake Lake was formed in 1959 after a massive earthquake, and it is located near West Yellowstone. The lake is picturesque and has a visitor center as well as hiking trails. Its formation tells the story of the power of Mother Nature, including death, destruction, and heroism. This place is hallowed ground where visitors can experience these forces firsthand. The old trees around the lake are eerie reminders of what took place, along with the small town on the bottom.
Great stop on your way into West Yellowstone. Fascinating lake created by earthquake in 1959.

Mesmerizing experience. I came during winter so everything was frozen, but even then you can still the scenic beauty and geological marvels. The lake's history adds a layer and reminder of the magnitude of mother nature.

If you are anywhere close, passing by or while visiting West Yellowstone, make it a point to stop here. Your visit, including the short video will be around an hour or so. The history, the forces of Mother Nature, the earth, death, destruction, and the heroism of humanity are experienced here. The place is hallowed ground. Visit and you will understand.

Earthquake Lake is the result of an 7.5 magnitude of earthquake struck on August 17, 1959 in Hebgen Lake. It is 6 miles in length with a maximum depth of 125 feet. The beautiful scenary of the lake will captivate your mind. There is a visitor center displaying a Memorial from the earthquake with a plaque of the names of the 28 people who died and the events of the earthquake.

YES, this place is worth visiting, both in summer and in winter! If you are traveling to Yellowstone National Park, make the effort to go a bit out of your way to Earthquake Lake! It takes a little while to drive to, but it is a very unique place!
Earthquake Lake was formed not too long ago by one of the most powerful earthquakes in recent Yellowstone history. A landslide occurred, blocking off a river, and the area began to flood. Many people camping by the river died from this event unfortunately, and yet the lake is still here, decades later.
Earthquake Lake is so unusual as it still has many of the trunks from trees poking out of the water. These trees used to be on dry land alongside the river, but when it flooded, they died, and just the trunks remain. Also be sure to head up through the pass to see toward Idaho - if you’re there at sunset, it amounts for some beautiful photos.
There is a visitor center, gift shop, ample parking, some hiking trails, and various turnouts along the road so you can get some pictures of the lake. It’s worth visiting - I really like it here!

Visited Quake Lake in August 2019 during hols to YNP and GTNP.
Though scarred by a tragic event back in 1959 it's amazing to see with own eyes how nature can have its own way. Highly recommend to visit the Lake plus the Lake Memorial Museum.

This is a beautiful place with a magnificent history and stunning scenery! The lake was formed by the quake of 59' that shook the region and changed the landscape. It is a beautiful drive toward Ennis, Montana to dig for garnets and gold in Nevada City or from Ennis toward West Yellowstone, the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. My boys have found petrified wood and lots of quartz crystals here. Even a couple arrowheads. We leave them here but they are still fun to find.
Hebgen Lake is a picturesque 21-square-mile reservoir situated amidst stunning mountain surroundings that offers a variety of outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, and boating. It is a favorite destination for many outdoor enthusiasts from around the world who come to enjoy its natural beauty and bountiful wildlife. The lake is well-known for its excellent fishing opportunities and offers ample room for boating with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Absolutely beautiful place to spend a vacation. Kayak friendly, Yellowstone is 20 minutes away. Don't miss visiting nearby Quake Lake!

This always had been my very favorite place in all the world. I've been up here almost every year of my life, and I still find beauty in all of it.
The fishing is good if you know what you are doing. The boating is amazing.
I've always loved the photography up here, as it seems like there are always more opportunities for that perfect shot. Landscape, wildlife, or even shots on the water off the boating, I'm positive the best shots I've done have been up here.

Great experience! My family rented four snowmobiles for 5 days. Plus, two of us rented complete winter gear. The sleds performed flawlessly, and we rode no less than 100 miles everyday. Fantastic customer service! Seamlessly let us trade in two 650 trail sleds for 850 mountain sleds on Day 2. Perfect location to enter trails, fuel and supplies across street. We will rent from again.

Before our trip to Island Park I emailed a few rental companies asking basic questions. Only one--McKinley, at High Mountain Adventures--even returned my email. And then by phone she not only answered the rest of my questions, but referred me to a competitor company for a service High Mountain doesn't sell. So I highly recommend them. Everybody at High Mountain was awesome. The machines worked flawlessly. They provided great guide service with maps and personal advice. (Ask McKinley how to find some fun powerline trails.) Everything about the check-out and check-in process was painless. I'm eager to go back up during the snow and check out their winter activities. We were there just as the seasons were changing, and it's clear that High Mountain has something for everyone all year round.

Booked in advance for our trip. Wouldn’t let us change the time because it was pouring down rain, when someone else in our group called later turns out they did have time later that week they just told us they didn’t…. if you’re going to have a no cancellation fee at least make sure your ATVs are fit for all weather. Would recommend somewhere else that has better service.
Georgia Franco — Google review
I am utterly disappointed with the services provided by this company. Despite the fact that we were facing horrible weather conditions, they outright refused to allow us to cancel or reschedule our booking. Not only this, but the equipment we rented was not built for the weather we were in and that we had to go out in. There were holes in the roof, the floor, no rear view mirror present on one of our rentals as well as a lack of a windshield. If there is a no cancellation policy, the least you could do is provide adequate equipment. The “8 hour ride” we reserved was completely misleading. The hours of the business are 8:30-4:30 and you cannot even begin your ride until you go through a very long “registration” process. Not only did they fail to deliver what was advertised, but their communication was abysmal throughout the entire process. It's frustrating to be misled and left hanging without any clear communication. This experience was nothing short of a horrible experience. I strongly advise others to avoid this company at all costs. They're deceitful about their services and their communication is beyond inadequate. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere for a reliable and honest business.

My family has rented RZRs from High Mountain Adventures many times and we've always had a great experience. There are trails right outside, so you don't have to haul the RZR to start riding. My husband and I are full-time long haul truckers. We travel the country, renting out snowmobiles, UTVs, cars, and various other toys along the way. This is our second year riding in Island Park and West Yellowstone. It's likely to be our forever holiday tradition, bringing family and friends from the southeast to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
High Mountain Adventures has, without a doubt, won customers for life with us. We brought my dad and his friend to spend Christmas with us. It was his first time snowmobiling, and his friend's first time ever even seeing snow. We rented out each kind of machine they had, aside from the 650 Indy(the double-rider). All of the machines were very well maintained and up-to-date. They ran beautifully. The store was well stocked and very fairly priced, with everything from two-way radios, to full kits of weather appropriate clothes from top snowmobiling brands, to avalanche gear and sled maintenance items.
But more than that, the staff was gold-star. They were incredibly helpful, showered us with compliments, and very knowledgeable. The check-in and return process was a breeze. One of our party members crashed off trail and caused some damage, and the repairs were incredibly fairly priced. We even got caught up on Two Top the day of our return and ended up late. Staff stayed behind to recieve the snowmobiles and told us they were just glad we made it back safe. They walked my party through the machines in a very concise and easy to understand manner and made sure they had the knowledge needed to operate safely and have fun. Two employees in particular, the woman with blue hair and the tall man that reminded my husband and I of Rob Dyrdek(we're terrible with names, sorry LOL), went above and beyond and were some of the most pleasant people we've dealt with on the road!
It was incredibly important to me to spend Christmas with family, as being over-the-road means I rarely see them. My father is also getting to an age where he won't be able to adventure as much. This was my last chance to have an all-out, adventure-filled holiday with him doing the things we love to do, and High Mountain Adventures made the experience a memory I will never forget. I can not thank them enough.
To the team, you have my unending gratitude. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and we'll see you in 2022!

Do the 2 hour ride.
My family of 5 and an aunt/uncle did the 3 hour ride in June 2021. The website made it seem like there would be spectacular sites and views. It was really just a walk through the woods. 2 hours of looking at evergreens would have been enough. The entire ride looked identical to the photos attached to this review.
They did not permit us to dismount at all until the end of the ride. Our one guide was in the front and completely oblivious when our horses were fighting each other or trying to knock off kids by walking under low branches. I was surprised that each group didn’t have a guide in front and back.
My kids loved the experience and the horses, but they would have been fine with 2 hours. The guide was nice and a good rider. We did not have time to stay and play in the lake. That did look fun.
Matthew Wilson — Google review
This was a beautiful trail ride. I only have 4 stars because I was frustrated by the lack of organization. We ended up being almost 45 mins late starting our ride because of others showing up late. We also had to stop for others who had no riding experience because they were freaking out about riding. I wish there had been an advanced rider area and a newbie riding area. That would have been much nicer. The guides were great and very aware that families wanted to be together.

Had a great time on the trial today. We had Tucker and Lexi for our guides. Good two hour ride that was great for the experienced riders as well as the younger/first time riders.
Great views and peaceful atmosphere makes for a great time with the family. Plenty of gentle/easy horses for the riders that may be fishy.

My 3 year old really enjoyed her short ride on Digger with my husband leading her around and then fishing and petting ALL the horses after. We did the cowboy dinner and the food was really good. Highly recommend!

The 3-hour morning ride was fantastic, it was relaxing and well worth it. There is plenty of wildlife in the area, just be on the lookout. The horses are very well behaved and will follow one another. Every horse is unique and is selected based on your experience and willingness to accept a challenge. Our guide Lexi was wonderful, she is very knowledgeable and kind. She even let me lead the group of horses on the second half of the journey with Cherokee! I was a completely inexperienced rider, but I highly recommend this activity for both beginners and more experienced riders. Thank you for the amazing journey!

This park was recommended by a family member. Since we were here in April with a new 12 inch coating of snow, we weren't sure it would be open and didn't expect to be able to see much. However, we learned you could borrow snow shoes for free.
We drove to the parking area near the beginning of the trail, and suited up with hats, gloves, etc. It was tough going as there were no previous footprints to follow, but it was beautiful scenery. We took a path close to the river and saw and heard geese and ducks.
This was great exercise and sure beat being inside another day! The staff was very helpful. If we're in the area another time, we'll be back and try some hiking, etc.

This is beautiful park for hiking and biking. There are two lakes. No ATVs or motorbikes so it us a quieter experience. I rode the mountain bike trails. Absolutely stunning park! I went to hike the Silver Lake trail and ended up trail running most of it. Nice single track that is not too technical. Not a lot of elevation on the route. Only one hill at the back of the lake but you can skip it if you wanted. Total miles was 8 but if you skip the loop you’ll probably end up with 5 miles. Very well marked and lots of wild life! Bear signs everywhere but I never saw any. Definitely happy I ended up here today!

Fun place to bike, and hike. Absolutely beautiful trails. The trails can be quite muddy at time so give it a few days to dry before riding after a rain. If you like bird watching there are many stunning birds and the trails let you get up close with the lake shore to see them. Don't forget your bug spray though as the mosquitoes can be bad in the spring.
