Great open grassy areas. Lazy river is fast and furious. Fun water park, bummer the kids area was down. The city is doing good. Good concession to.
Gail Blair — Google review
Lazy river was broken, kiddy pool to, as well as the wave rider. Charged full price no refunds. Kept saying we'd be able to go into the lazy river, which never happened sadly 😥
Jaden Madman — Google review
This place is fun. The pool is usually a nice place to be in. There’s a place for kids to be in for just younger kids. I love the wave pool. I love the surfboarding. I love the slides, and there’s food there and the prices for the tickets might be a little high, but they’re short of average. The only thing that I didn’t like at this place was the slide stairs when you’re going up there barefoot it hurts your feet really bad.
Alyssa Kelly — Google review
Went to actual waterpark today... pretty crowded, couldn't get a float for lazy river, but the kids had fun swimming and enjoying the water slides. Across the street are some lovely pull over spots along the river. Concrete picnic benches and tables, trash cans, easy access.
Theresa Merkling — Google review
Very nice experience. The snack shack was rather slow; however, it is early and their training is going to help as the season progresses.
David Bibb — Google review
Great place to go to beat the heat. Reasonable prices. Fun for the kids. Food's not great but I saw lots of people bring their own. The lazy river is nice if you want to relax. Bummer the kids pool area was closed for maintenance.
Wade Miller — Google review
Super disappointed. I took 10 people to enjoy a day at the water park, upon arrival I was told I couldn't purchase a 10 pass card as a manager had to do it, and the manager was too busy to come assist the front desk. We also called to ask about bringing a cooler, we were told no. While there people were bringing coolers, pizza, and outside food. The life guards were all on different sets of rules. Definitely won't be going back. I spent over $100 on entry and food for our group, and was absolutely disgusted with the lack of communication between employees, and no consistency between rules and regulations.
zandel wildish — Google review
Great place to cool off. Lifeguards are on top of it!! The kiddy pool was closed which was an inconvenience as I had a 5 year old with me. So, because it was closed, the only way my 5 year old could have fun is if someone held her the whole time in the water in either the pool with slides, or the Lazy River part. Since I was not swimming and just watching them, I got in free which is great, (and fair). $5 per person, (no matter the agw), if you just want to swim. $10 per person if you want to swim AND have access to the slides. Over all, not a bad place to go. Kids had fun. They also have a concession stand. No outside food or drink allowed. But they don't check your bags, (if you know what I mean?)
Danyelle Seavers — Google review
Great place to take the kids to cool off. Lockers are $0.50 and requires two quarters. Food and beverage available for purchase on site. Bring your own towel.
Chad Gergely — Google review
My children and I had the most fabulous time. It was $30 to get my dad,the children, and myself into the park. SO WORTH IT and they provide the boogie boards and floating. The was ample seating and lots of shade. The lines for rides and concession stand fluctuated so there wasn't long waiting or no waiting at all. We got great pictures and the staff was on point. BEST DAY EVER.
cynthia bright (CINDY) — Google review
Amazing water park within Montana. The staff were very friendly and professional. The water and facility was clean.
The "lazy" river is anything but lazy. We spent the majority of our time playing in it as it is like a real river and has a strong current. It was a great time and provided hours of fun for the family.
The lifeguards were very attentive and provided a safe environment for all.
There is a climbing wall beside the pool which was fun to climb and fall into the water.
The watersides were fun and closed off at the bottom to ensure no one is getting hit by accident.
Highly recommend this place!
Paulo Coelho — Google review
This place is a good time! Plenty of space to park. There is a Museum for kids about a block away. Decent admission fee and provided life jackets for the little ones. Slides and a river ride. Even if you don’t like swimming in kid pee you can have a hot dog at the snack stand.
Anthony E — Google review
We enjoyed it here! The change rooms were big. The kids loved the lazy river but they didnt have very many tubes or boards. Lots of chairs and benches to sit on and plenty of shade. We'd go back again

First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park
State park
Sights & Landmarks
Archaeological site at a bison cliff jump & a visitor center with buffalo culture exhibits & a shop.
Was a great place to see. The welcome center had a lot of information about it. It was insane seeing where the Buffalo would run too. Nice walk up to the cliffs. we spent about 1 1/2 hours there. I think it was worth the trip to learn about the Indians used to hunt before horses
angela demski — Google review
Nice museum and 3mile hike or drive to the top. Not much to see except beautiful mountain ranges all around you and of course the cliffs.
Kim Stein — Google review
Excellent signage approaching First People's Buffalo Jump from I-15 N. Ample parking, including drop off/pick up area and handicapped parking. Clean restrooms. Bottle filler/water fountain available. The staff members were friendly and gave us easy to follow directions to the upper portion of the park as well as to a nearby Mennonite community. Be prepared for gravel roads. Lower Visitor Area has informational displays that are worth taking the time to see. The park was incredibly quiet for being outdoors - just the sound of the wind. In the upper portion of the park there are prairie dog colonies surrounding the parking area. Take a few minutes to watch for their heads to pop up from their burrows. There are hard surface walkways from the parking area to the top of the jump just a short distance away.
Ryan Leigh Runyon — Google review
First time there since the name change from Ulm-Pishkin State Park. Some nice visitor center improvements.
Carter Bouslaugh — Google review
A must-see destination when in the Great Falls, Montana area. It's fascinating, educational and enjoyable to see in real time what our Native American friends had to endure to provide food and other things to sustain life on the prarie, with primary focus on the buffalo population. You don't want to miss this great stop!
Tom Szirbik,Sr. — Google review
There is so much history to learn in one place! The staff provides tons of wonderful background knowledge about the area and how to best enjoy the beautiful scenery while learning! The little museum helps you gain a deeper understanding of how important the area was and still is to this day! The gates close at 6pm in the summer and even earlier in the winter so plan accordingly to be able to use the trails!
Stephanie Watts — Google review
Very beautiful, would absolutely go here again. There is the site up top and then the gift shop and interpretive center below that has a beautiful gift shop.
Jodi TwoGuns — Google review
This place exceeded my expectations! Make sure to grab a guide book. Would have never picked up on a few things while hiking the trail and learned a lot. All the white spots are buffalo bone chips.
Angela Radloff — Google review
Awesome! We didn't hike up but drove up to top. Great experience. The visitor center was good and the girl from Americorps telling us about the history was so informative and a pleasure to listen to. Highly recommend going out there. A short trip from Great Falls
Terri Hatfield — Google review
So much history here. It's such an amazing place. My daughter took me there and you can feel the energy of the past there.
Michael Addison — Google review
Beautiful views, uncrowded. Best to try to go in the morning due to afternoon wind. Prairie dogs and raptors!
Beth Leatham — Google review
Nice small State park. Entire loop trail can be walked in about 1 1/2 hrs. at a very casual pace. There are a couple of spots on the trail that are challenging terrain - such as the cliff access. Observed prairie dogs, rock chucks, rabbits. Observed tracks of other wildlife. Great view of the area at the top!
Nathaniel Ellibee — Google review
The buffalo jump in Ulm is a great place to go for anyone interested in the culture and historical happenings of the state park. The hike up to the cliffs above are moderately easy for anyone to do. Wildlife is aplenty there, including rattlesnakes! There is a cultural center there with pictures and artifacts of all sorts, and the guides there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. If hiking isn't your thing, them you can drive up to the buffalo jump top, and there is an outing for prairie dogs too. Highly recommended for anyone in the area of you enjoy the outdoors.
Tyler — Google review
Even on the rainy, gloomy day this place is breath taking. I drove to the top, walked down to the cliff edge - words can't describe the sheer beauty and size of this pishkin. The view of the upper Missouri Plains can't be described. One can imagine thousands of buffalo below, grazing. You can view the Rocky Mountain front to the west; Highwood Mountains to the east, northeast; Big Belts to the south; Little Belts to the east, southeast; and I think I could even see the Bearpaw Mountains to the northeast.
Very nice and attentive staff and they make lovely frappes I got a Kona coffee frappe with 4 shots of espresso and a chocolate drizzle very good for any coffee lover & wife got a caramel frappe with 1 shot of espresso & caramel drizzle way better then McDonald's caramel frappe you will love this one because it's NOT watery and way to sweet like McDonald's and there caramel cookie waffle that they carry is a wonderful addition to have with the frappe they also carry a selection of sweets from cookies to jars of different candy's

Adorable store and cafe. The staff were super friendly and the items in the store were very cute. The baby clothes were absolutely adorable. It’s rare that I find gluten free things that I like, and their GF chocolate chip cookie was soooo good. Also ordered a chai latte and it was yummy too.
Courtney Croteau — Google review
Great people, cool little store. Definitely stop for a cup of coffee
Matthew Jones — Google review
Great coffee and a couple of treasures I found half off. Really wonderful staff and other nice customers. Wonderful atmosphere.
Julie Burnett — Google review
Super friendly staff and good coffee!
Laura Heisler — Google review
I have been to many of these types of coffee places over the years. I must say Prarie Peddler had probably the best coffee I've tasted, I asked for strong and strong is what I got. The girls behind the counter were great and did a first-class job, all with an infectious smile. The owner? Lady was delightful and very friendly.
If you are ever in Shelby Montana, I sincerely recommend a visit to this delightful coffee shop.
Thank you.
Buster Webb — Google review
Great shop! Coffee was excellent. I had a cafe breve.
Brennen Lewis — Google review
Cute little coffee/gift shop. Calm ambiance and kind staff. Its a favorite stop for us! You can find gifts, snacks, of course drinks, and maybe some conversation if its not too busy.
MyDarling Dennos — Google review
Cute shop with lots of gifts/clothes, super friendly staff, and good drinks :) Large variety of flavored syrups to customize your coffee, tea, italian soda, or other beverage!
Isabella Judge — Google review
Delicious coffee and very cute gift shop! When we pass through this town again we will definitely stop by!
Danielle Vincent — Google review
Best iced coffee. When I was visiting my family for the week I stopped in every day. Great staff. Beautiful gift shop.
A really cool place to stop and visit. A lot of history outside and inside the building, be sure to check it out. Ice cream was delicious, carousel is a sight to see, and the bathroom had basin sinks built into tool boxes and mirrors made out of tires. So cool!
Marshall — Google review
Very sweet carousel with beautifully painted animals. One price allows riders unlimited turns! Tables and chairs are plentiful and there is Wilcoxen's ice cream for sale. Great place for an hour or two with the kids, and also seems like a fun place for birthday parties!
Kathie R. Waters — Google review
Great time for a birthday party or just a nice getaway!
Stephanie Salois — Google review
Great place to bring your family Friday nights 4-8
Saturday afternoons 1-5. Get out of the cold weather come on in 🎠❤🍦🍪🎂
janise wood — Google review
What an amazing display of yesteryear! We had the pleasure of visiting with Mr. Harry Benjamin about his labor of love in putting this carousel together. Then we accepted his invitation to his personal garages where we saw the incredible results of this gentleman's almost unbelievable talents in building things "from scratch!" Wow!
Russ Hall — Google review
Great little stop off for the kids to enjoy themselves. Only open certain times so make sure you call ahead.
Ed Seed — Google review
Very friendly staff. Best ice creams ever. Harry, the owner was very helpful and informative. A great place to visit and feel like a kid again. You must try!!
Monica Diaz — Google review
Stopped with my sister and 6year old son. I felt like a kid again! The carousel is beautiful. Helicopter ride made me giggle the whole time. The plasma cars "fun scooters" were fun too! All three rides for only 2$ Brand new bathrooms, clean, friendly staff and ice cream too! If you are thinking about stopping you will have a blast!
It's a small place, but it's nice. Lots of Dino stuff the Liltle shop is fun and everyone was nice. Ended with some ice cream and the young man there was also very nice. Good experience great for kids. Also recommend the city park nearby, has a nice little stream.
Leo Villanueva — Google review
The Old Trail Museum is small and has more info about the area than dinosaurs. Their collection is small but does have some interesting fossils to see. Just set expectations that this will not have a wow factor for kids.
The other artifacts of the collection are interesting to look at and share information about the area. There are other buildings onsite that share info on the grizzly bears of the area and what an old homestead house looked like.
Adam Cook — Google review
The museum was not even open for the season yet, but still the woman let us in. She went above and beyond, just in doing that for my son and myself. So friendly and welcoming.
Jen Partain — Google review
I went there for the ice cream not knowing there was a dinosaur section in the museum so all I can say is that it had absolutely AMAZING ice cream!
Matthew Hawkins — Google review
Moved to Montana August 2021. Wanted to check out closest towns to me just to see what they have. Visited Chouteau 9/3/2021. Cute town with nice little museum. 🍦 Parlor was closed ☹️
Candy Brown — Google review
The ice cream was delicious! And the service was awesome! I enjoyed having a nice treat there! Sadly I didn't get to see the museum but they had some cool things around the place!
CRAZYCABE — Google review
Saw alot of cool old airplanes and missiles. Nice peice of history.
Bry Armstrong — Google review
The best Huckleberry custard I have EVER HAD!
Mary Baker — Google review
Fun little surprise stop on our journey. With the small price of admission we got to see the main museum and then little houses connected had other themed items to see. We enjoyed some ice cream after!
KnM Rivera — Google review
Love love love the Dino’s out front, but would love to actually see inside. Stopped here on weekends and weekdays at different times of day and season (including about 11 on a Wednesday during peak July season) and it’s NEVER open ! Bummer.
If you're a rock hound, then you have found heaven. The rocks, crystals, and gems on display are from around the world, along with a section dedicated to local Montana. The collection of items to shop through can be daunting.
The owner was friendly and had some cool items to share. They also ship items, so if you are working on your collection, they can help.
Adam Cook — Google review
Best selection and most beautiful rocks this side of the Tuscon show!
babs crox — Google review
The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Levi Bessette — Google review
This amazing place is definitely worth the side quest for any rock lover. They have a lovely selection of fossils, crystals, gemstones...etc. The person working was very friendly and knowledgeable. A+
Rachel Powers — Google review
Such a fun stop on our road trip! My children loved looking at all of the rocks, stones, and gems.
Amber Zaddack — Google review
Beautiful shop, could have spent at least another hour there. Reasonably priced, a very wide array of minerals, jewelry and more, and Dave himself is a gem. It was a very special place for an unexpected drop by!
Zack Green — Google review
The rock & gem shop offers a good selection and reasonable prices, away from the hustle & bustle. Older gentleman behind the counter very helpful. Worth the stop as you gawk at the dinosaurs.
E. M. — Google review
Purchased a beautiful sterling bracelet with a large amethyst stone and the artist name is printed inside in September 2004. I have worn it consistently over the years and catches the eye of just about everyone. It is timeless. Thank you

Came here in June of 2021, and I finally found the name so I thought I should leave a review. It's along Highway 89, in a very rural place. It's neat and clean, cashier was very nice. It's a cozy place and a good place to stop. I did end up buying a copper cube with its periodic table information engraved in it!
Tommy Noodle — Google review
One of my favorite places ever so much cool stuff check it out you won’t be disappointed 😊
Cool place to stop and stretch your legs and see some cool history on dinosaurs! The paleontologist on site was very insightful and friendly. They enjoyed sharing their knowledge on the topic. Very fair admission prices! Nice little gift shop too!
Aaron Noel _ MT REALTOR — Google review
The museum was a great stop while in Montana. It's very cool to see the process on how they do their digs. I would really love to go on a dig. The personnel at the counter were very friendly and personable.
Crystal Patrick — Google review
This was such a pleasant surprise. I've wanted to stop by here but have never really had a good chance. However, now that I'm retired and drive my car from Phoenix to spend time in my native Montana, this was the day (Aug 4) as I was driving from Glacier Park.
Everyone associated with the Center was eager to help and seemed to love being a part of this place. There was lots to see and get close to. The Center tries to make you one with the Dinosaur environment and I think they do a good job. I highly recommend a visit here.
Angela Romain — Google review
Great exhibits especially for such a remote location. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I were there in late September after the summer crowds. We were the only visitors there when we arrived. This is a great place for anyone to see, especially if you are traveling with kids, or dinosaur fans (like me).
Make sure you go the the rock shop right next door. They have lots of great specimens, and great prices.
Dogster Doolittle — Google review
We took our dino obsessed 7yr old for a full day dig and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Bailey and Dustin were great guides, very informative, helpful and patient with the kiddos. Even answering every question our son had, which was a ton 😆. As adults we thought it was a great experience, never thought we'd actually help excavate actual bones so it was awesome! Our son hasn't stopped sharing the experience with everyone we've come into contact with since. THANK YOU for making his day so incredibly memorable, he's already asking how much longer until he can be a paleontologist and work on the sites there.
Kari Bruley — Google review
Fun place to visit, a bit small but there are still a lot of cool things to look at. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable
Nena — Google review
This place is a hidden gem! The host was very knowledgeable and the in progress fossil unearthing was super exciting to see. There is a large amount of information to see in this building. The gift shop was also wonderful. Jewelry, resource books, stuffed and science kits for the kids. Will definitely stop again.
Terra Anderson-Broughton — Google review
I had the time of my life at this place! Got to experience my dream job for a few hours! Actually was able to hold real fossils found in the area! I also participated in the day long dig!
Matthew Hawkins — Google review
The Montana Dinosaur Center is one of the stops on the dinosaur trail you can book an excevation tour. Saddly, we did not do this at this time as you will want your kids to be old enough to enjoy a half or full day outing. Ours are a bit too young to enjoy such an outing.
The museum portion itself is small but has some amazing displays. Additionally, they have a life-size dinosuar in the exhibit hall that shows you how big dinosaurs could get. If there when it is quite you get a private tour by one of the staff. Eric, one of the staff, shared a wealth of knowledge as he guided us through the museum. He was also amazing at making it enjoyable for younger kids, pointing out cool and interesting things to the kids as well as answering all their questions.
I highly recommend stopping here and hope you get Eric as your curator guide.
Adam Cook — Google review
I was so impressed with the interactivity and engagement of this lab's Dig for a Day experience, that I enrolled for another day after finishing three. The site I was working on is very promising so far in terms of its yield. On the days that included young children, we were guided to a couple of nearby fossil sites for exercise and exploration. This lab has a lot going for it, its gallery being the icing on the cake.
Adam Hegedus — Google review
We spent the day doing a dino fossil dig. The cost was $225 for the day(9-5) including a small sack lunch and water. The actual dig time was about 4 hours due to drive time to site and back to the facility plus a short tour guide through their museum. The best part was being able to dig and brush through a dig site that had been partially exposed pelvic bones from a dino.
**In reply to your response, we had originally purchased a two day dig. We had to cancel 2nd day dig because we had to change our days of travel and head home. It would have been nice to get a full refund instead of a partial.
Chrissy Fay — Google review
Loved it! We visited the first week of April and had the entire place to ourselves. Definitely going to book a dig on the next visit.
Great team in place here. Richard took care of us. Wings were on point! I
Mark Morales — Google review
Was a nice stop for a town in the middle of nowhere. Only resturant in the area, food was good and beer was cold
Justin Esteves — Google review
Wonderfull place in an unexpected location! We showed up right at kitchen closing time, after a long day of riding our bikes to and through Glacier NP. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The Jalapeno Burgers were outstanding. Great selection of cold beer. Super friendly owners! A really great place to end a great day! A must stop if you are in the area!

Felt unwelcoming to non locals. Order was “lost” for more than 2 hours while they kept reassuring us it would be out soon. Would not recommend for anyone traveling through.
Linda Horne — Google review
We had a great time at Froggies, they even opened early for us when we showed up a couple hours before opening with a crowd!
B K — Google review
I'm from Wisconsin and was just driving through looking for a meal so I stopped at Froggies. The food was great, the people of Valier are great and I'll definitely go back.
Kristin Holstine — Google review
Ordered a blue cheese burger and got a Costco 1/3 frozen pattie covered in ble cheese salad sauce! First time for everything I guess. Not impressed with the food or the $4 PBRs.

Susie and Tony are awesome!!! the pork chop sandwich is out of this world...will be back for that and the hospitality as well ..

Tony and Suzy are amazing. Salt of the earth type people. So happy for them and the community thst they now own Froggies. Stop in here to support truly wonderful people.
michael saack — Google review
Horrible service, rude locals, over priced beer, and bad food! What else can I say? This was a bad stop on our trip. I highly recommend riding right past this place
Wonderful informative tour of the history of the Region, Cut Bank, and important people from the area. The owner showed and explained in a detailed way the history and important information/documents and made a very interesting tour! If you are in Cut Bank you should definitely make a little time to stop and see this wonderful museum!
Pete the Traveler — Google review
I love the county museums because they are snapshot of what is important to the local population through the years. This one is not a disappoint. Had a great conversation with the curator.
Bite Me — Google review
Highly recommend. So happy we took a little time to stop while we were searching for my families old homestead in Cutbank. We had a wonderful introduction to the exhibits by the museum manager and enjoyed viewing them. I wish we had more time but would definitely add it to my list for a longer visit next time.
Sherry Erickson — Google review
This is a great local museum. I only budgeted 1/2 hour and only left because we had people to meet, but I would have been happy to spend much more time here. Lots of old memorabilia, as well as recreations of pioneer and oil field life. The curator has a wealth of knowledge and was great to talk with.
Take a break and learn something about this area!
Ray McGlew — Google review
A rural museum that is definitely worth the stop! There is one main building and several outbuildings, each with their own topics. The proprietor is extremely knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge with you. There is a semi-mandatory donation of $5.00 per adult, but as this is no longer funded by local tax dollars, consider giving more.
John Sheets — Google review
Recommend stopping here.
A fascinating place to learn about Cut Bank history. The host was knowledgeable and informative. It is amazing the ingenuity of the early settlers and how hard they worked just to provide for themselves.
Reba Hendrix — Google review
Very lovely and small. They have an array of old farm equipment, oil rig equipment, and old buildings from the homestead days. Even though we couldn't go inside just yet, it was still a very great experience!
Macy Curtiss — Google review
Very educational and a good place to take the family. Definitely needs more support from the county and better signage from RT 2 to make it easier to find
Best beer around! I was suggested the Hose packer, and it's AMAZING. Had to go back for a second growler.
Real nice friendly environment and amazing staff! I absolutely love the hops growing in the back, really sets the mood. An awesome place to gather with friends and family, and to have a fun night!

We stopped in here a few times for drinks and food while we were in Cut Bank. The employees are so kind and friendly. We loved chatting with them, great beer choices and the food truck has many options. Highly recommend!!!

Loved this place. Yummy beer and super kind staff. Nice they have a little food truck in the back too. Grabbed a pizza to go. ❤

We are giving the brewery 5 stars because the beers were quite good. The Bock and Stout were smooth and delivered on taste. We also ate while sampling the different beers. We both had cheese burgers and fries. The burgers were great - cooked medium rare as requested, juicy and full of flavor. The fries were just okay. A bit dark and limp but with flavor. They were homemade but that said, they could have been improved upon. In both establishments, the staff were so very nice and helpful. We highly recommend stopping here for dinner and a brew.

What a fantastic brewery!! Had a burger and a pint of the rough rider. Thank you. ❤️
Devon McGettrick — Google review
From Alaska to Florida, this is one of the best breweries I've been to. The service is great and the beer selection is superb. I'm a dark beer person and their "Triple Divide" is wonderful! Definitely a must try if you like stout beers.
An impressive brewery for such a small town.

Fun local spot in small town Montana. Local brewery with a very chill vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating .. including couch/chairs by a gas fireplace. Board and card games available for customers.
Make sure to try the Penguin beer …

Great fun well designed brewery. Kind & welcoming friendly staff with lots of good variety of drinks and food. They have a open outside area with food truck and an inside close area with tons of seating. Highly recommended!

Loved this brewery! Officially my favourite in Montana. The man working was so friendly and welcoming. We exchanged our brewery stickers. The beer was so tasty! The brewery was super cool and had a great vibe. We got there just in time to grab some food. Probably my favourite burger and beer of the whole trip. Can’t wait to go back one day!

A great small town Microbrewery! Awesome setting and nice selection of tasty beers. Big plus is the home brewed ginger ale and root beer and the two wines that they have on tap.

This place is truly a hidden Gem in Cut Bank! The food was fantastic and so fresh. I had the cheeseburger with local sourced beef and a GF bun which was crazy good!! I’m not a big beer drinker, but when I find a GF beer I’m all in!! So delicious!! Make time to stop and enjoy this great place. The back patio area also has a fire pit, corn hole games and other games! The staff was so friendly and welcoming as well!!
Thanks Chuck for a great ride for our family! We got lucky and managed to schedule a ride the morning after we called, they made time for the 3 of us despite having an afternoon where 18 people were showing up! Our horses were great, and even my 8 year old son had no trouble riding solo on Ronnie after some expert guidance by Chuck. Gus was my horse, and was very easy to ride, and my wife rode Peanut Butter Cup (or JJ).
The land is beautiful, and we really got to see a lot of it from "Chimney Rocks", a high rocky outcropping where we could see mountains 100 miles away. This was our turnaround point, which was also a fun place to explore and take pictures.
Please everyone, respect the land and follow the rules about not altering this wonderful place when you go. The world needs places like this.
I highly recommend Chuck and DeBoo's Ranch if you want to go riding in the high plains of Montana!
We didn't stay there, but there are also sleeping accommodations at DeBoo's Ranch. It's far enough off the beaten path that I bet the nights out there are spectacular.
Henry Kloepper — Google review
This was the epitomy of wide open spaces. Breathe taking beauty! Grandma and 13 y.o. granddaughter both enjoyed the ride which is good for novices and skilled riders. The barbecue and barn fire afterwards was great. Thank you Chuck!

The Blackfeet Indian Reservation, located in Montana, is home to the Blackfeet Nation, a federally recognized tribe of Siksikaitsitapi people. The reservation borders Glacier National Park and is known for its stunning natural beauty. Sun Tours offers bus tours of the park from various locations on the reservation, providing visitors with unique insights into the area's history and culture from Blackfeet and Assiniboine Sioux tribe members who operate the company.
The Museum of the Plains Indian, situated in an unremarkable brick building, boasts a remarkable assortment of costumes, artwork, handicrafts and relics that celebrate the cultures of various indigenous tribes such as the Crow and Cree. The museum provides a fascinating insight into these tribes' history and customs through meticulously crafted exhibits. To fully understand the area's significance, visitors can join guided tours led by tribal members or take part in hikes offered by Sun Tours.
Amazing museum. What luck to attend when Gregg was welcoming everyone and sharing his tribe's history and customs. If you love textiles or handicrafts this museum is simply stunning. Incredibly detailed exhibits and a memorable end to my time at Glacier. Check out Sun tours for a bus tour within the park or the hikes led nearby by tribal members to get an important history and perspective on the area.

This is a small museum but everything there was very authentic and the people running the place were very helpful and informative. If you're passing through Browning it is worth the stop. Might be the only thing there worth the stop...

Highly, highly recommend stopping here for an hour or so. The bead and leather work that they've preserved is amazing. They also have Blackfeet artists showing works and often creating them on the spot.

The museum was closed when we went there. There was a phone number posted on the door to call it if you would like to see the museum. Called two times and no one picked up the call.
As no one answered the phone we decided to wait for a while and tried to use the benches in the lawn and almost all benches had broken beer bottles on them.
Beware: Not at all a safe place to visit with kids.

Truly enjoyed this exhibit. Wished we had more time - got there 30 minutes before it closed. Enjoyed learning about the Plains Indians. The guy working there was quite helpful and even chatted with us 12 minutes past closing - it’s always nice to see people who enjoy their work. We also chatted with the sweet man who does the maintenance. It was free entry during winter hours - they close at 3pm (I think in summer they stay open later). If you’re in the area, stop by!

An interesting place to spend some time taking in the native Indian history.. Had no idea America had 542 Indian tribes!
Worth the 30m to 45m time to browse the culture and exhibits. Apparently the Smithsonian museum folks dropped by and were very impressed.. This place had old stuff even the Smithsonian didn't.

Showed up at 1:30 pm on December 8th. No one answered the phone as posted on the front door. We waited 30 mins calling every 5 mins and no one ever answered. We met more stray dogs then employees of this place. Parking lot was full of idle vehicles. Would not recommend as we drove an hour out of our way to visit.

We stopped by unexpectedly as we were driving through Browning and it was such a great experience. The exhibits were informative and beautiful and talking to Gregg at the front desk for a little bit was, by itself, well worth the price of admission. He fantastically kind and knowledgeable; we could have listened to him all day.
We also enjoyed meeting the demosntrating artists on site, who were both fantastically talented and a pleasure to talk to.
Very grateful to everyone involved for the educational and thought provoking experience.

This was so cool and definitely worth the drive. It's very close to glacier national park so I would definitely recommend visiting if you visit glacier. The staff was very kind and the person at the front desk even had a stray puppy on his lap. Super cool and informative place. They feature some native artists who will explain their work to you. There is also a small gift shop with beautiful beaded jewelry and art.

I have not actually been able to go to this Museum of the Plains Indian as of yet. But anything that has to do with any type of American Indians/Native American People or the History of the American Indians/Native American People. It is worthwhile to go to learn more about & see the amazing ways that they give love & care about the living things around them. We as a whole should take the time to live & learn their old way of life, & beliefs.
Quiet, clean, very peaceful little cabin! Amazing porch area to sit & read a book, able to see for miles across the prairie. Shared little fridge, microwave, grill, toaster, coffee maker, etc. Would also recommend going to the Museum of the Plains Indian down the street.

For $75 not including tax I think is a bit high. Very nice staff and facilities. I just don't find the tepee much better than a tent. And its a significant walk from your car to the tepee. I don't trust lighting a fire and having a bunch of smoke inside the tepee - but I didn't actually try it. Theres also a room with microwave, coffee pot, toaster and hot/cold water dispenser. Theres only one table in this room and no sink. The shower knobs were a bit strange in the end unit of the mens bathroom; hard to adjust temperature.
Ryan Whiteside — Google review
Really nice place to stay. It’s really peaceful because there’s nothing else there so no noise. It has everything you need, the room has a heater if it gets cold, a sofa and a table and a little porch outside to enjoy the sunset. The bathrooms are really clean and they give you everything, towels, soap, shampoo. And they have a little kitchen with a microwave, fridge and plates and glasses if you need something. In general the stay was lovely, only thing is that the bathrooms are outside and you have to walk a little and it gets really really cold so that’s the only bad thing, but they mention it in the description that they are shared bathrooms.

One of the highlights of my trip to Montana! I visited in August 2018. Had a great time and met some wonderful people here! The hosts were fantastic, hot coffee and tea were offered inside. We made a bon fire at night and watched the sun set over the hills. I slept better in the tipi while it rained than i did in my hotel the night before. I can't wait to visit again. I only had time to stay for one night, but i think two nights would have been perfect if i had been able to schedule a walking tour or gone horseback riding with the host.

We had a great time. Approached like tent camping, the tipi was comfortable and the fire relaxing. There was a nice place for breakfast both inside or outside with self-serve amenities. The showers were warm and clean. We didn't bring any camping gear just warm clothes to sleep in, it got down to 39 the night we were there, so slept in a couple of layers. If you haven't slept in this kind of weather, wear a stocking cap it makes a big difference! We rebuilt the fire in early morning for a slight warm up. The owners and person who checked is in were very polite and helpful. As guests we also helped each other, so engaging others and self help made for a good evening and visit. And the dogs were friendly too.

Stayed here with our family of five (kids are 9, 7 and 2) and it was a great experience. The tipis are spacious and provide shelter from the elements, and the bathrooms, showers and dining area are all nice amenities. A great option for anyone staying on the east side of Glacier looking for a more affordable and unique experience!

I am sitting on the porch and enjoying a stunning view. The prairie, the lake, the Rocky Mountains. If you want to try something different and connect with the nature, this is the place. You 'll sleep in a tepee but still having all the amenities: very clean showers, a great room where you can just sit and enjoy the time , a kitchen with a coffee machine, a mini fridge, tables where you can cook and eat, free wifi, and great hosts. Plus two lovely and very friendly cats. The art gallery is great, a lot of beautiful native Indian objects, books and magazines to read. We travel and camp a lot, but this place is the best I've ever camped.

Great little spot to stay relatively close to Glacier National. I reserved the Bison cabin and although $130 a night is pretty steep for a little bungalow, the location is great. Free coffee, bananas, zucchini bread, hot showers and towel in the morning. Consider getting a tipi, opening the top flap more and lighting a fire at night!

Stayed here for one night, would have liked to have stayed for another. It was a highlight of my trip.
The good:
* beautiful view
* unique experience
* Nice owner as far as I can tell
* Clean facilities
* 30 minutes away from the best places in East Glacier
* Coyotes, wild-life, fire in your tent, yeah cool experience.
* Neigboring dogs came and said hi, sweetest pooches ever
The bad:
* There was construction nearby that was noisy until late at night and started again early in the morning
* The area, as beautiful as it is, has limited options when it comes to restaurants etc, Browning itself is poor and doesn't feel very safe, luckily the tipi is a short drive away from Browning, but some nice restaurants/ super markets would have been good..
I read a few of the negative reviews, don't go here if you are expecting a hotel... It's a tipi.... Yeah you hear coyotes etc, go figure... No AC either lol.
I sincerely enjoyed my trail ride experience. I called around the stables inside glacier and they were fully booked and honestly not super helpful. But i was fortunately staying in East Glacier and found this amazing stable right in the village. The family that runs and owns it are part of the Blackfeet tribe and they could not be more accommodating or nice, just so down to earth. I met Mouse who trained the horses and is in the rodeo Hall of Fame, and the guides Seth and Dakota were absolutely phenomenal. They picked berries for us, taught us about the land and led an amazing ride that was so beautiful. This is not a typical follow the leader walk only trail ride - the horses were extremely well trained and so responsive to riding so come prepared to spend an amazing time in the wild trotting and moving as you wish and to learn from the best guides!! 11/10 experience honestly.

If you are in East Glacier, do NOT miss an opportunity to go for an amazing trail ride with Glacier Gateway. Instead of driving to West Glacier and dealing with high volume and limited availability, call these folks and get ready to enjoy a fantastic ride. We were lucky to have found a flyer at the Inn we are staying at, and booked a ride the day we called. My daughter and I had a great two hour ride with Myron and Anna, our wonderful guides. As beginners, it was unbelievable to have one-on-one attention! We saw a grizzly within 10 minutes of the start of our ride (from a safe distance). We climbed to the highest vista in the area for some amazing views, and learned about the Blackfeet and various medicinal and edible plants along the way. Myron and Anna gave us great suggestions for the rest of our trip, and we're hoping to fit in another ride before we have to leave this paradise!

My friend and I decided on our last day of visiting Glacier National that we wanted to do a trail ride. We were staying in west glacier so we contacted them about riding and they were fully booked a few days out and made us sound dumb for asking if anything was available. We then called Glacier Gateway and they were able to get us on the trails within a hour and a half of calling. The family was amazing and made us feel right at home with them, extremely friendly! The ride was unbelievably beautiful and there was never a time we felt unsafe. Don’t waste your time with the West glacier area!

This place is horrible. Find another place. We drove all the way from Pennsylvania just for our trip to be wasted. The day before our ride we called them and they said they cancelled our full day ride. They wanted us to do a 3 hour ride only. The next day we showed up on time and they canceled our 3 hour ride. We drove so far for absolutely nothing. They didn’t even call us. They got smart and said they didn’t have our number but we spoke to them THE DAY BEFORE. Don’t give these people your money. They are unorganized and don’t care about your time or money. Do not recommend. Horrible people.

The Running Eagle Falls is a beautiful waterfall that can be found close to Two Medicine Lake in the Rocky Mountains. The falls are named for a Native woman who showed bravery and good medicine in battle. The trail to the falls is paved and handicap accessible, making it easy for anyone to enjoy. Plus, the round-trip hike is only 0.6 miles long so its great for all ages!
Enjoyed this very easy, little walk to the most tricky waterfall in GNP! Tricky because when water flow is low, the falls only flow from a large hole in the cliff below the main falls' brink. When flow is high, it appears to only flow from the top of the falls' cliff! Very cool!

This is a quick >1 mile hike that is very level to a beautiful waterfall that has a "trick" to it. When the water is heavy, it gushes over the top, but on lower water days, like the day I visited, it travels through a tunnel.
Read the story about Running Eagle before you take the walk and it will have a little more meaning and special quality about the falls.

Running Eagle Falls is a fun waterfall to view as it flows through a cave before emerging on lower water levels. When high water volume flows it covers up this cave with a wall of water pouring over the upper cliff.
Two Medicine Lake is a beautiful and serene alpine lake located in the heart of Glacier National Park. The scenery is stunning and the opportunity to take in breathtaking views of the mountains is simply unbeatable. With hiking trails, a campground, and boats that can take you around the lake, there's plenty to do here whether you're looking for a day trip or an extended stay.

I took a family of six on the boat ride on Two Medicine Lake for only $85. Is an excellent value!
I wish we had known that they would drop us off at the other end of the lake. We would have done the hiking trail if we had known ahead of time. Even if you're not hiking, the boat ride is incredible.
The boat is almost 100 years old but is pristine and recently restored. The sliding windows made it easy to take photographs. Our captain, was a young lady in a early 20s, who allowed us to spend time at the front of the boat taking pictures! She was very knowledgeable about the lake, the boat, and the history of the area. She even had a few good jokes!

Awesome scenic place close to the east entrance. There are a lot of campgrounds and picnic spots. There are some quiet fishing spots. People can take the boat ride tour which has a 45 person capacity but you have to reserve your place asap. There are kayaks and other motor boating options too. A lot of natural trails and hikes are there too which are moderate to difficult. If you go for hiking during the summer take a bug spray or repellent.

The Saint Mary Falls waterfall in Glacier National Park is accessible via a moderate hiking trail. The falls are situated near the Saint Mary River, and feature three tiers of cascade. The surrounding forest is dense and green, adding to the beauty of this waterfall.
Beautiful falls which is just a short hike. You can hike a little further to Virginia falls which I would recommend doing. And on the way to Virginia Falls there's other smaller falls. Like all parking in Glacier, there's not enough parking at the trail head.

Beautiful little waterfall that’s a short hike from going to the sun road. Great location for photo taking opportunities. Nice flat platform to enjoy the water rushing by while eating snacks or food. Easy hike from parking lot. About 1.2 miles one way. Little bit of elevation coming back but nothing crazy. Everyone should be able to do it. Most of the people stop here and come back but if you want to see more amazing fall then go about another 0.8 miles to Virginia falls which is amazing. No crowds there and it is bigger and beautiful fall. It has some elevation but totally worth it.

Great trail that it is not too strenuous or long that provides great views of multiple waterfalls, some of which are not even named on the trails. That is one important item to keep in mind as if you are doing this trail in conjunction with Virginia Falls, make sure that you go far enough. We made the mistake of turning around too early after seeing some pretty amazing other waterfalls that we thought were Virginia Falls but ended up not being it after later looking at photos.

This is one of the most beautiful areas I have ever been. It feels something out of a fairytale. I took a jump off the bluff from past the bridge. The water was so COLD! I highly recommend the jump if you can handle the cold water and swim to the path back up. Make sure to leave the glasses behind. 🤦♂️. The water is so clear and bright blue as it come down the rocks. It can be a hard time finding a parking spot but there are several parking areas a little farther away that give you access through the trails. It can add around a mile using the other parking areas. It is so worth the effort getting here.

Great hike with options! We stopped further ahead to check out Baring falls. Then drove and stopped at St. Mary's. It was late so we did not continue to Virginis falls sadly but were told the extra .08 miles were worth it. Easy walk down. Easy minus the last stretch out. BEAUTIFUL WALK!!

The route presents an ideal opportunity to witness some of nature's most breathtaking visuals while experiencing the crisp mountain air.
The 700-foot high waterfallApikuni Falls is one of the most distinct attractions in Glacier National Park. It can be seen only by hiking through the park and its beauty is hard to miss. This waterfall is made up of two parts, which are hidden from most visitors because they are not visible from the trail. The hike to Apikuni Falls starts at the Apukuni Falls trailhead along the road into Many Glacier Park.
Great hike, weather was moving in, but still worth the trip, I was there in Sept 2021. I'm planning on going back 2022!

The relatively short but all-uphill hike to Apikuni falls was no joke and not for those with limitations. However, it was absolutely worth the effort. The falls were beautiful, and my whole family felt a great sense of accomplishment for having made the journey.

Logan Pass is the highest navigable point by road on the Continental Divide. The pass is located in Glacier National Park, at an elevation of 6646 feet. The views from the summit are stunning and it's a popular starting point for many hikes.
You definitly want to stop here. Logans pass has great views, scenery. Wildlife, etc. Just be aware, parking can be full due to the number of visitors. But no worries, it's worth the wait

Though parking can be tough here, visiting this pass and center and the surrounding area is worth the effort. There are plenty of restrooms and exhibits, indoor and outdoor. The trail to Hidden Lake starts out the back door and is along a boardwalk for a good portion, though I still recommend bringing water and good shoes or well-fitting sandals. There's a couple herds that appear to love the are as well - Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goat! BTW, visit the Hidden Lake overlook - it's very worth the climb!

Beautiful area & views. Snow was still on the trail in July, towards the end of the trail but before the lake overlook. Appropriate footwear is needed unless you like slip-sliding all the rest of the way. And water hiking sandals aren't sufficient by the way. I look forward to going again with "snow-capable" hiking boots so I can finish the hike. If you don't like taking 30 minutes to find a parking spot at the visitor center, go extra early. :) Also, note that there is not a restroom on the trail...prepare accordingly. Otherwise, enjoy the gorgeous scenery!! 🤩

Logan's pass is a stunning area, whether you're hiking, admiring the view, or checking out the visitor's center. we saw these boys near the parking lot - please make sure to stay back, and never feed the wildlife!

Absolutely worth beating the crowds and heading into the park at 5:30am, especially if you don't have a park pass because then you won't be allowed in until after 3pm. The parking lot at Logan Pass fills up FAST during peak season, and if you go early (5:30am) you can have more unobstructed views of everything. Also, at Logan Pass, you will see people park further and further down the hill and walk up, which seems pretty brutal because it's steep, and you've still got a big hike ahead of you. Be prepared to see animals roaming about on the hike, and please be smart and don't get close.

Lots of animal airings and beautiful breathtaking views. Amazing experience of fairly warm weather with snow. Up hill hike but mostly wooden steps. Hiking shoes are a veni fit due to some slippery snow.

Lovely place! Always can count on seeing big horn sheep and mountain goats. Parking can be a pain during peak season.

We got there July 22. 7 am. And the parking lot was full. Like FULL! But worry not people do come and go so you ll find a spot soon enough. The hikes are incredible. Views are beautiful. Wildlife if lucky is spectacular. Must do on a vist to the park!

Hands down the most beautiful pass. It actually is a spot for some of the best trails. We entered the park through the West Glacier entrance and took the Going-to-the-Sun Road to reach to Logan pass. The views throughout were immaculate and spectacular. There are multiple overlook points in between that one can stop at and admire. We didn’t have enough time to watch the sunrise but if you have that in your itinerary, Logan pass is the spot. For sunsets I’d recommend Lake McDonald. The trails that we did that started from this pass were Hidden Lake Trail and the Highline Trail. Logan pass is also the spot for the Continental Divide, which separates the Atlantic and Pacific watersheds of North America. If you plan to do the Logan Pass trails make sure you have enough food and water because the trails are long and the visitor centre is only open until 5:15pm. Also make sure you reach there early to save yourself a parking spot because 9/10 times the parking spot is full and you don’t want to waste your time waiting for someone to leave.

Take the Highline trail from here, you won't be sorry..also cool exhibits and swag for the whole family, loads to see and do, don't expect to find a parking spot though, TAKE THE SHUTTLE

Logan Pass is at 6,646 feet where the Going-to-the-Sun-Highway crosses the Continental Divide. It is the highest point on the Going-to-the-Sun-Highway, and roughly 2/3 of the distance across the Park.
The scenery is quite beyond words and this is another Must-Do when visiting Glacier National Park. We found that many of our pictures showed mountains with their peaks in the clouds. What we could see was marvelous so I know the rest would be grand too.
The Visitor Center is atop the Continental Divide, and from there access is available to the Highline Trail, known for wildflowers during the summer. Access for other trails is there also.
The Visitor Center is open mid-June to mid-September and is staffed with helpful rangers and several exhibits. There is also a gift shop. The restrooms are nice and very welcome.
We had hoped to enjoy a picnic lunch we brought with us to eat there, but this area is also known for high winds, and this day the wind was frigid. We ate in the car and enjoyed the view from inside. Food service is not available here.
There is what seems like a lot of parking, but it is often difficult to find an available place, as this is a busy area.
Hidden Lake is a popular day-hike destination in Glacier National Park. From Logan Pass, hikers can take the Hidden Lake Overlook Trail down to the lake which is home to abundant wildlife. The short trail also runs through gorgeous alpine meadows, covered with wildflowers in summer and home to abundant wildlife.
This is an absolutely beautiful trail and the final destination at hidden lake is worth it. Bonus is you have a high chance of seeing mountain goats and big horn sheep. Occasionally you may come across a bear, but we did not see one this trip. I would say the trip to the actual lake is much easier than coming back. There are very steep switch-backs that definitely test your stamina. Make sure to take plenty of breaks on the way up! I would say another great bonus is seeing all the beautiful wild flowers on the way to the lake.

Though parking can be tough at Logan Pass, visiting the center and the surrounding area is worth the effort.

Imo this is a must do hike in Glacier NP. Not a super easy one, but definitely worth it!

It is one of the most popular hikes in Glacier National park, Montana. Lots of stairs & it is an uphill trail to the beautiful lake. The trail of hidden lake starts behind the Logan pass visitor center. The view is amazing. We saw five big horn sheep on the trail. The lookout wooden platform is well maintained.
The hike is moderate but worth it. You have to park your vehicle in Logan pass visitor center. Finding a parking spot is very difficult.

Nice incline up to the ridge overlooking the lake below. In late Spring there may still be snow up there but I as there in mid July and the snow was pretty much over on the shaded sides of the mountains.
Mountain goats are a popular animal out here along with Marmots, Pika’s and ground squirrels/. The hike up the wooden boardwalk is a good work out folks, pretty easy though.
Wildflower come out in full force in the spring time too.

This is an amazing spot with a beautiful lake. It’s mostly boarded so easy to climb up. It is all up most of the first half but not a difficult hike. Fairly short. We saw mountain goats and rams. A beautiful experience. It does get very busy and the parking lot is fairly small so expect to wait for parking or have to leave and come back at another time

While parking is a major challenge at Logan Pass, this is a hike worth taking. One of the best, if not the best, in Glacier National Park. It’s a boardwalk for much of it, so very easy, with only moderate elevation. The non-boardwalk parts are easy dirt trails. You can’t get lost. The “lookout” is a 1.5 mile straight shot and gets you to about 8000 ft. So 3 miles round trip. You can hike down another 1.5 miles down to the lake, but that obviously makes the hike an additional 3 miles. This is a must do hike, at least to the lookout.

The hike from Logan’s Pass is a moderately strenuous uphill 2 mile climb but along the way to the lake we got to see a mountain goat, multiple mountain sheep, and breathtaking vistas. Take as many breaks as you need especially if you adjust to the altitude the way I do and my breathing got very difficult for the first mile. Once you get to the viewing area of the lake there are a lot of people scrambling to take pictures and space became tight very quickly. It wasn’t the most beautiful lake I got to serve while at GNP but a great hike!

What can I say. This is the most beautiful lake scenery in the whole Montana state. I love the hike and the sights all around the trail is just amazing. Anyone in the area must see this place. Views are breathtaking. Trust me these pictures doesn’t do the justice. It’s a place that need to be on your bucket list. I can not wait to go there again.

This was one of my favorite hikes at Glacier. Finding a parking spot can be a challenge, so taking a shuttle is advisable if possible. And it is more crowded than some other hikes, but for good reason. The views were stunning and also be on the lookout for a wide variety of wildlife. If you have the time, I'd highly recommend going down to the lake, which is a perfect spot for a picnic lunch or just a relaxing break enjoying the amazing scenery.
David Riggleman — Google review
One of the beautiful alpine lakes in Glacier National Park. The start of the trail is through Logan pass. The trail takes you to the overlook and through the overlook there’s another trail that leads you down to the lake. Since the trail starts from Logan Pass, finding a parking spot is very challenging, so make sure you leave early.
Chances of seeing wild goats on this trail is quite high. Also bear spotting is high when you walk down towards the lake from the overlook. During our time, the trail to the lake was closed because of the bears, so have your bear spray ready.
Aasma John — Google review
Very nice hike. Most of the way up it’s decking.
The geology is amazing but the wildflowers are simply stunning.
Stop and look. Don’t miss the best of the trail! You might see wildlife you might not. Usually there are mountain goats and ground squirrels.
If you want there is more to the trail than just the overlook.
Grinnell Glacier, a renowned glacier within Glacier National Park, is accessible via a challenging and picturesque hike. The trail leads through serene landscapes that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding area. However, it can be dangerous towards the end due to hiking on slopes covered in ice. It is important to start early in the morning as there can be high traffic later in the day.
I’ve hiked this trail 5 times now. This is a tough hike, especially the last half mile, but worth it for the absolutely stunning views! The first 2 miles around the lake isn’t bad but once you start the Glacier trail it’s nothing but up with very few switchbacks.
PROS: You get to be close to a glacier. You get dozens of different angles of a glacial lake as you hike up. You will probably see wild life. Big horn sheep like to hang out here but weren’t there this particular day.
CONS: As I mentioned it’s a strenuous hike so pace yourself. This is a very popular hike in GNP so be sure to come early if you want a parking space. There will be a lot of people on the trail.
It can be dangerous if you hike it beginning of June/ end of May or earlier so bring some sort of traction devise for snow and ice. Autumn is an absolutely stunning time to go.

Beautiful, difficult hike for beginners. Well worth it. Got to see some moose at the bottom of the first lake, some deer halfway up and a grizzly bear at the top. The views are gorgeous all the way up.
Emmanuel Ramon — Google review
This was the most beautiful hike of my life. I can save you the long story just by saying it's gorgeous from start to finish.
It's moderate to hard though. It's a long hike all the way to the Glacier and although it's a lot of gradual elevation gain, it's a lot of elevation gain and there are sections of steps which becomes a killer workout on a warm day.
If you want to just see the beautiful scenery all around and just turn back when you're tired, I think you'd still love doing this.
The end when you reach the Glacier is absolutely worth it if you have the time and energy to make it all happen.
We got into the park at 530am to avoid needing a reservation and to get a parking spot at the trailhead. For us it was worth it and however you choose to do this hike, it's absolutely incredible.
*There are restrooms at the trailhead and a single water station to fill up.
Michael LaBarbera — Google review
I was a little worried because my wife and I are not particularly athletic and definitely one of the slower people on the trail. Even so, we made it to the top without much issue. Definitely a workout but there was nothing too extreme about the hike that made it impossible for us. The gradual incline was definitely a plus and the quarter mile steep incline we just took frequent breaks. Saw several bighorn sheep. Glacier was amazing. Despite it being so popular there was enough space for all to enjoy. Water is freezing. I dipped my feet in and had to take it out after 15 seconds. Overall took us a little over 3 hrs one way. We spent 2 hrs at the glacier. It is unshaded and does get hot in the afternoon so highly recommend to start early. Also trail gets narrow so much better to go up when there is no foot traffic coming down. There are sections where there are sheer cliff drops but I never felt unsafe. Highly recommend and totally feel accomplished that we were able to do it :)

Visited early Sep. This is one of the most scenic hikes in Glacier NP. Saw a ram and a mountain goat on the trail. The glacier lake is just so amazing and unusual with "bloody pond". The lake is big and at the far end is still snow covered, but could see the crevasses as snow was melting. This is a must hike!!

Aug 2021. The best trail in Glacier. Hands down. Views are spectacular throughout and breathtaking at the top. It’s a difficult trail and long. But so worth it. Sadly, the Glacier will be gone too soon so take the opportunity if you can.
The hike is approx 11 miles long round trip from the Many Glacier Hotel. There is an option to take a boat trip to shave off about 1 1/2 miles each way but we walked. The first few miles aren’t hard as you gradually climb up but the last few miles to the top are difficult especially the last 1/2 mile. Well worth the push at the end. Don’t turn around until you get to the top. The hike took a group of 6 a little over 3 hours on the way up as we stopped to take pictures (and take a break). The trip back down took us 2 1/2 hours.
Water, bear spray and good shoes are needed. Trail is narrow with steep drop off throughout. You will get water run off from the mountain side so it will likely be slippery in some areas. Leave plenty of time to get back - we saw a number of individuals and pairs heading up around 4:30 and with the sun setting behind one of the peaks, the return trip in dusk or later can be dangerous (wildlife, gravel, slippery sections, etc.).
We were fortunate to see a family of mountain goats on the return trip and wisely backed up to a wider section to let them pass as they had the right of way…and also saw a pair of Rams near the top.
It is not uncommon to see grizzlies about 1 1/2 miles in - and on the day we went, one side of the trail around Lake Josephine was actually closed when we started because of bears so be alert.
Highly recommended.

One of the best hikes inside Glacier National park. The hike is strenuous and slightly dangerous since towards the end we have to hike along the slopes on ice. We were followed by a group of Grizzly bear and it’s cubs on the trail. It was scary. But the views were just breathtaking and beautifully serene.

They say this Glacier will be gone in 8 -13 years so, don't miss your chance. This is one of the most beautiful hikes in Glacier National Park. Hike is challenging and should be planned as all day event. If you like extreme and you there in the summer swimming is and option but for everyone else - dipping you lags in will make you feel like you didn't hike at all and way back will be much easier. There is also lake in the beginning of the hire and swimming there is great way to complete this hike.

I'll never travel to Glacier National Park without this trip planner again
Located in Glacier National Park, Avalanche Lake is a popular hiking destination that offers stunning views of snow-capped mountains and forested slopes. The lake is surrounded by dense woods and mountains, making it difficult to access, but the quick bop over to Avalanche won't spare you the crowds.
Avalanche Lake was one of my favorite trails I ever hiked in Glacier National Park. It feels like you are walking through a prehistoric forest with the massive leaves and trees. The river that runs through this area is absolutely mesmerizing with the way it cuts the gorge and rocks around it. The rocks are super slippery though so I do not recommend getting too close to them out of the danger of slipping. Avalanche Lake itself lends perfectly to photos and offers dramatic reflections of the mountains and forest behind it. In the fall the leaves were changing all sorts of colors which lent itself wonderfully to photos. I would put this hike on your list especially if you only have one day in Glacier!

Beautiful trail. Lake is not huge, but it is gorgeous. Hiked it at the end of April 22. Going to sun road was closed, so had to hike from lake McDonald which is a 17 mile hike or so. About 8 miles in and 8 miles out. The last couple miles to lake was in snow.

A must visit place in glacier national park. Absolutely loved the hike to this scenic place. It's a Lil over 2 miles with 600 ft elevation and a moderate hike to this stunning lake. Reach the parking lot early to save time looking for parking spots as it fills up real quick.

At the end of Avalanche Lake trail which is 2.24 Miles from parking lot you get to this beautiful lake with multiple cascading waterfalls dropping for surrounding mountains into the lake. You can also walk a trail along side the lake. The views are worth the 2.24 Miles walk.

We visited this place in July 2022. This trail is located on the West Entrance on Going To The Sun Road. To drive on this road, you will need a pass. If you don't have one, go to recreation.gov The park makes 1k tickets available the night before and it cost $2.00 If you don't have a pass, they will not let you in. Also if your vehicle is longer than 21 ft, they will turn you around. To those who have a longer RV, there is a campground outside St. Mary Entrance that will accommodate you. Read the review I did of that RV park. We stayed there for 4 nights. We also stayed on a campground outside the park on the west side of Glacier, Big Creek Campground. Read the review I did of that place. It may help you decide to camp there if you can't camp inside the park due to the length of your vehicle or RV. There is way to get in if you don't have a pass. You can either get in before 6am or after 4pm. They do that to control the traffic and not congest the roads nor parking lots. After 4pm most people have left the park. This keeps the traffic going. This is a famous NP and thousands visit it. There is a check point where they verify your park entrance, your pass and the length of your vehicle. You can buy bear spray for $50.00. I know right or rent one at the Apgar Village. I don't know the prices. We learned that you can rent them as we were leaving the park. So we brought home with us the unused $50 bear spray.
Now, let's review the trail itself!
This trail is located on the Lake Mcdonald Valley area which is closer to the West Entrance. This is a must trail in my opinion. You should get to the parking lot early, I mean 6am early. The parking lot holds about 25 to 30 cars. We got there at 6am and it was halfway full. You can definitely do this with the kids. You start at the trail of the cedars and go onto the Avalanche Lake. You walk through the forest so you don't get that much panoramic views of the park, but once yiu get to the lake, you'll take in all the beauty before you. You can actually spend the entire day at the lake if you want. Had we known, we could've brought some chairs, more snacks, water shoes, sunscreen, and some inflatable tubes. As we were heading to the lake, we saw a few people carrying inflatable tubes. Whe we got there I realized the reason. There are 2 beach like areas where you can sit on the sand or your chairs in the shade, and float on the still lake with almost no current near the beach area. I wished we knew that. We would've stayed longer. I would definitely do this trail again .

Amazing hike with amazing lake on top. Lots of people on the trail. It’s hard to find parking lot spots but if you come early in the morning, you’ll be well off. Took a dip in the lake and it’s nice and chillly. The trail is mostly shaded and was wet because it rained a lot. Lots of people on the first beach but if you go to the opposite side of the lake you can avoid the crowds and swim since it’s deeper on the back end
Diana Smith — Google review
Overall easy hike to get to the lake. Definitely worth going early enough to see the sun rise over the mountains. Moments of going uphill, and rough terrain. Pit toilets at the lake are available, bring your own toilet paper/sanitizer. Get to the trailhead early - parking was limited by 645 and trail was busy by 830.

Beautiful! If you are only going to do one moderate difficulty hike on a trip to Glacier then I recommend doing this one.
Bring adequate water and a snack to enjoy sitting next to the lake. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the waterfalls flowing into the boxed-in lake. The water is cool so bringing some water shoes and having a swimsuit under your hiking clothes is a good idea. The water is clear but you will kick up dirt walking around in it.
Watch out for the chipmunks when you have food since they can be very aggressive.

Rising college-age stars perform in popular Broadway musicals at this summer stock theater.
In full disclosure before I review, my daughter is a cast member. We travelled to see her perform in all four shows. My husband and I kept saying to each other after every show "...no one is going to believe us back home when we tell them how absolutely professional and amazing these shows are". Our family has seen a good bit of theatre over the last 5 years (and paid much more for tickets) and are so incredibly impressed with the quality of the Bigfork Summer Playhouse shows that we just saw. The choreography was top-notch! Vocals absolutely stellar! Transitions were seamless. The live musicians were excellent. Also, I am not sure when/if I have ever seen better acting! Drowsy Chaperone was hysterical...the whole audience was laughing most of the time. Joseph was a delight on many levels. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was simply beautiful. Mama Mia was so great that we were still singing the songs in the car on the way home.
I will most certainly follow the careers of many of these actors to watch for their inevitable successes professionally!

We had a wonderful time watching Elf. They need to have roped lines for waiting in line though or some sort of organization. We went in the door thinking we had to exchange our on line tickets as that's the notification we got but found out we didn't. We were waiting for our daughter to park and join up with us & just stood inside. We saw the lady selling tickets say something so I went over to see what she said, she basically told us the line was in one spot (the lobby was PACKED) so NO ONE coming in knew where the line was, and that we were ALL crowding. Well if that's the case the solution would be to have some direction before it gets to that point in the lobby. It's winter folks no one wants to wait out in the cold. Other than that it was so festive & a great show. I would love to help out if you need.....

A beautiful and popular hike in Glacier National Park leads you past scenic views of Iceberg Peak and Mount Wilbur. The trail is steep at the start but levels off as it passes flower-filled alpine meadows with lush forests and mighty mountains stretching away. Iceberg Lake is often filled with floating icebergs, making it a popular spot for hikers to take pictures.
One of the longest hikes I've ever done, one of the hardest, but it still remains my favorite hike ever. The lake is so fascinating, and I got to stand on the icebergs. On our way, we saw a moose, mountain goats, and lots of smaller rodents, as well as a partridge/ptarmigan and her chicks. Most memorable location in Glacier National Park.

Relatively easy hike up to Iceberg Lake and a more difficult hike up to Ptarmigan Tunnel. Both can accomplished in the same day, and both destinations are very worth the effort!! Iceberg Lake was glacial blue water with actual icebergs floating and breaking apart even into August, surrounded by an imposing cliff wall! There are waterfalls to view along the way, as well as spectacular views towards Swiftcurrebt Pass! Ptarmigan Trail takes you through green pines and flowered meadows, above a blue-tinted lake to what looks like a door to LOTR's Moria. Through the door, passage through the dark tunnel leads to a well-made shelf trail against a much more red landscape, equally epic in depth of features. Stroll down the trail just a bit along the wall, look back, and see a couple-hundred foot waterfall streaming off a high-elevation glacier.. a scene that is hard to beat!!

Awesome hike and great reward at the end. Bring your swimsuit, we did, and we loved it. Keep your eyes open for moose, oh and of course bear.

Completed the hike on 7/15/22. See highlights of the hike on my IG @fungtional. Everything was open when we hiked it and we were pretty lucky because the trail was closed the next day due to bear activity. They usually place signs and rope closures if they ever close the trail. I recommend texting GNPTRAILS to 333111 so the park can send updates about trail closures, especially since internet service is nearly nonexistent at the park.
This was the most scenic hike of the park, imo (we hiked Grinnell, Iceberg Lake, Hidden Lake, and Avalanche Lake (Highline was still closed)). The hike was long, but wasn’t particular difficult, since there wasn’t significant elevation gain. There was quite a bit of snow and snowmelt at the end of the trail, so highly recommend trekking poles and sturdy hiking boots to avoid slipping. It’s definitely worth it to reach the end. Some of the best pictures in the park

Stunning views. It was an easy hike. Bring a bug spray.

Highly recommend a sunrise hike. On a clear day the sun crests the opposing eastern mountain, illuminating the peak tips in a fiery red.

Easy but beautiful trail. We completed this hike on Sep 12, 2022. This trail is on eastern Glacier. The lake is serene and grand. We were told the trail was closed the day before our visit due to grizzly. Found wild berries and a bear paw print alo g the trail.

Out of this world. Absolutely breathtaking. It’s a challenging hike but worth it. First 1/4 mile is uphill but then the ascent is steady. Saw a Moose at the lake and a black bear up on the rocks above the trail. Lots of people on trail.

Hiked this trail in 2019 and NPS said there were 700+ people on the trail at the time but it was July 4th weekend, so it was expected to be busy. I was one of the lucky ones to work in the Park for the summer and film some pretty amazing areas. My coworker and I were on our way back, from the lake, when we encountered a young black bear right on the trail. I was behind him checking out my pics when he suddenly said "Bear, on the trail in front of us". My hand went straight to my bear spray but was n't needed for the youngster, possibly a 2-3 year old, departed as soon as it touched down on the trail. My friend got some nice pics, I was too slow on the draw.

Awesome hike, lots to see, superb scenery and don't hike looking at your pics until you get back to the car, you might miss something super.
This is bear, moose, cougar, wolverine, elk, Mountain goat country folks, make sure you take some bear spray, it is good insurance.

The lake is amazing. The water is a beautiful turquoise. It's a must see if you are in the Many Glacier Area of Glacier National Park. The hike can be considered challenging. It's a 4 8 mile hike to reach the lake and it's a lot of elevation gain. The entire hike is beautiful. There are amazing mountin views. As you get closer the trail overlooks a very scenic valley. There are plenty of spots to sit and rest once you reach the lake.

We came over to this area of the park for a long day of hiking and it did not disappoint.
On our drive in, we saw a grizzly bear cub on the side of the road fairly close which was cool.
We stopped at the information center and found out that the Grinell Glacier trail was closed part way up because of snow. Because of that, we decided to do the Iceberg Lake trail instead.
The start of our hike was quite foggy so we couldn't see the tops of the mountains. Right as we approached Iceberg Lake the fog lifted to reveal gorgeous views. The lake was absolutely stunning. The hike back revealed great views of the surrounding mountains that we couldn't see on the way there.
The hike itself was about 9 miles round-trip, a little shorter than the signs said. It started out pretty steep, but it leveled out pretty quickly. The way there was almost all uphill, but it was a fairly gentle climb.
I would absolutely recommend this hike and I'm sure there are many others that are great at Many Glacier as well.

Amazing hike and beautiful lake. A lot of view points on the way and wildlifes (squirrel, butterflies). There are still some icebergs (07/21). Make sure you have bug spray!

We got to Many Glacier by 8am and parked by the lodge. Because of this the hike ended up being about 14miles. The first half mile passed the trailhead is quite uphill but after that it’s a fairly moderate hike. Views along the trail were stunning. We went in mid-June so the last half mile we had trudge through snow. It was quite slippery without hiking poles. The lakes were beautiful. Iceberg Lake still mostly frozen, but it was a nice spot to stop, rest, and have lunch.
