Curecanti National Recreation Area is a network of three alpine reservoirs that offer recreational activities such as boating, canoeing, fishing, bird watching, camping and hiking. It is situated on Ute land and has stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The Dillon Pinnacles are a popular hiking spot with several viewing points along the road. While water levels can decrease in summer like most of the west there's still much to enjoy throughout other seasons.
This is one of our favorite spots to pull over and hike and/picnic as we head west from Denver. The water dries up a lot in the summer (like most of the west) but it's prominent in other seasons, giving you gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape. We love hiking to the Dillon Pinnacles, and there are plenty of spots where you can pull off on the side of the road to view the pinnacles from afar. Curecanti is on Ute land.

This is a beautiful recreational area for camping, fishing, boating, and living. The Gunnison River flows along Route 50 into the Recreational area and fills up into a lake. The water level is low at the lake but you can still put your boat in. The National Park Service visitors center is brand new and just opened recently. Camp sites are plentiful. Enjoy!!!

Windy mountain beaches. Lots of likable spots around the lake, but I liked the Bay of Chickens best. Cool, calm water lapping up the shore, facing the western sun, armada of chicken cloud-gods soaring through the skies—what’s not to like?
Nomad Nate — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous, the train, the dam, the river, creeks and hiking trails were amazing. Well worth the drive out there. Free and much more scenic than Black Canyon National Park.
Paul Schulz — Google review
It's not bad, and the hikes down to Curecanti Creek and Pine Creek were nice, but this area **as it exists today** with damned dams and all, per Marc Reisner in "Cadillac Desert," shouldn't exist. Add in that National Recreation Areas like this, designed around damned dams, shouldn't be in the National Park Service because they violate its Organic Act, and you have an additional issue.
Steve Smith — Google review
Gorgeous area for recreation and photography! Wonderful water reflections and unreal landscapes. Take time to relax and enjoy the scenery!
Jamie Quint — Google review
Fresh water, boats and swiming. This lake is HUGE, wraps around and along the highway. Really cool spot to take a dip and chill
Lisa Kukla — Google review
Fun place to get away at and the lake is beautiful. Found a nice trail down to the river that connects

It's great to have an electric hookup option in the shoulder season. We were able to roll up with no reservation in April and easily grab a spot on the electric hookup side of the campground. Limited facilities otherwise (no water no toilets) but everything we needed was there when we needed it. The main loops were plowed as were many options for spots.
David Godfrey — Google review
Very petty and interesting place. I wish they still allowed visitors in the dam.
The campgrounds are also closed.
Gator Tex — Google review
This place is great. Try to get out th we re atleast once a week on the weekends to fish wakeboard, and water-ski, and knee board with my wife and our friends. Boat inspections are fast and Jason at Elk Creek inspections is a pleasure to deal with.
Dustin Heger — Google review
Curecanti is a beautiful area. My hunting club and I hunt elk there. This summer I took a buddy hiking there and we had a great time. It doesn't matter if you are a hunter, an angler, hiker, camper, or road tripper. If you like the outdoors, there's something here for you. Take a whole day and drive up the drainages. My favorite is red creek.
Jason Karoub — Google review
What a beautiful National Park! Well worth the extra time to descend to the canyon floor.
Dennis McDaniel Jr — Google review
Go enjoy yourself, it's a great place. If you don't have fun here, then you need better travel companions. And please 🙏 clean up like you were never there so everyone after you can enjoy it as much as you will.
Joe — Google review
Some sites have restrooms, some have covered picnic tables. Most have incredible views. There are a lot of options along the Gunnison river, the Blue Mesa Reservoir basins, and heading to the north rim of the Black Canyon along CO-92.
Wendy Mulherin — Google review
So picturesque and peaceful! The blue of the water matches the blue of the sky. Just so nice to be part of nature and it’s beauty.
C P — Google review
Didn't do a ton here - we were mainly in the area to visit Black Canyon of the Gunnison, but saw we could do some kayaking here. Which we did, successfully, with rentals from Lake Fork Marina.
We also stopped at the Elk Creek Visitor Center to learn a little about the area. Our kids were able to complete the junior ranger program (which they've enjoyed immensely at other NPS-operated properties over the past year) and earned a badge, plus a couple others the rangers working here gave them for other programs offered.
Another stop worth making is the East Portal. This is accessible only by entering through the National Park's entrance, which is a pretty substantial drive away from Cimarron and points east (especially if you have to wait in construction traffic on 50), then taking a steep and winding road down to the river's level. But also a really cool canyon experience without having to hike down into it (and the permitting required for that).
Also, the area's official map notes the Cimarron Visitor Center is open seasonally, but I'm not sure what season that is. The official website only mentions the Elk Creek VC. And when we stopped by on our way to check out the Mesa Creek Trail, it was a ghost town, and while the building appeared occupied-ish, the grounds weren't as pristinely maintained as you usually find at other NPS sites.
Lodgelike facility, open year-round, offering maps, a park video & Black Canyon panoramas.
Beautiful and unique sight to behold, it’s hard to see the magnificent and breathtaking
depth that these canyons are, it was an easy walk from the visitor center to a great overlook. There is some informational content in the visitor center. There is no water up here. Outhouse was clean and heated
Lauren (Rose) — Google review
The visitor center was partially closed due to the delta variant of Covid on 8/3/21. There were Rangers and information outside; limited, masked entry into the gift shop. The Rangers were very helpful despite the challenges. Absolutely stunning and dangerous place to visit as it’s easy to slip on the loose soil/gravel near the edges of the canyon, so be cautious as ppl fall hundreds of feet every year.
Todd Willis — Google review
It's very beautiful and serene place to visit. The views are amazing.
JSnowMoto — Google review
Rangers were very informative.. Sorry no over the edge pictures..
Safe to do but I'm not THAT adventures
Cecilia Vega — Google review
Great views from the visitor center. The rangers/park volunteers are super informative and positive. Absolutely one of my favorite National Parks I've had the pleasure to experience. I would 10/10 recommend visiting both the North and South Rims.
Corey Twardoski — Google review
The Park Rangers at Black Canyon of the Gunnison are all incredibly kind and helpful. Our car broke down and we coasted into a spot right by the visitors center and were there from about 10a to 4p waiting on a tow truck. Our cell service was nonexistent and they let me use the phone numerous times. At one point a Ranger by the name of Paul brought us some freeze pops since we had been sitting in the heat all day.
While this was not the visit we hoped for, we greatly appreciate the kindness of all the rangers stationed at that location on 9/7/21.
Andy — Google review
As always I checked in at the Visitor Center to get the cultural and geology history to better understand the national park during visit.
Qihua M — Google review
We went to the South Rim with our 40 foot class “A” motorhome and tow vehicle to the south entrance. I would caution anyone traveling there with anything more than a medium class “C”. The road is narrow and access to the Visitor Center doesn’t allow for anything longer. The camping sites are also a limiting factor when there. A better option would be to find a nearby RV campground and use the tow vehicle to get to the center. Beyond this the National Park is as wonderful as the reviews and comments suggest. We highly recommend for a visit for its history, beauty and a hike!
David Hesterly — Google review
The main attraction is the views of the canyon from the trails just outside the visitors center. The parking lot tends to fill up, so we parked at a pull out that was about a half mile from the visitors center and walked along the rim trail to the center. You get many different glances at the gorge, and it is not as crowded as the area right around the visitors center.

5* for the kind gentleman at the park store and the park. 1* for the nasty lady working at the park store at 4 pm on 09/29/23.
The gentleman was very kind and informative. The park is beautifully maintained. The lady working in the store was mean and bitter. I was looking at a shirt, waiting my turn to turn the display while another couple was looking at them. The mean park lady told me to just turn the display. I answered that I didn't want to barge in front of the couple. The couple and I were now uncomfortable. I walked away to look at the books. The mean lady followed and watched me in the store. When the display was free, I turned it to get my size. The mean lady walked over and turned it hard to the extent I had to quickly pull my hand away. Then her phone started ringing pretty loudly. The kind gentleman told her that her phone was ringing. She sarcastically said she was a mediator and that it was one of her clients and that if they called to schedule again, she'd make them wait until November.
I don't know how she got that job at the park, but a nasty, bitter person like her would be fired from the firm from where I'm retired.
Artemis — Google review
Excellent location for this visitor's center! Inside there's the typical ranger's desk complete with maps and all the information you could need; a store; and some fascinating information regarding the geology and history of the park. Just outside there's a picnic table (having it labeled as a picnic area on the park maps is a little misleading) and some benches, and a boardwalk a short distance down to an amazing overlook. There's also 2 separate restroom buildings, so potty opportunities abound here!
For what it's worth, we did just about everything the south rim has to offer (short of going into the canyon) in under 8 hours or so. Kids did the junior ranger program, we hit all the overlooks and did the Warner Point Trail, as well. Did the Rim Rock Trail from here to a little ways past Tomichi Point, but turned around as it was getting dark. Also drove down the East Portal Road and got as close to Crystal Dam as we could. Skipped the Uplands and Oak Flat Trails, but did stick around after dark for a pretty cool astronomy program near the campground.
Ryan Madden — Google review
Nice visitor center! Lots of great gifts and information about the area. Bathrooms are outside of the visitor center and are just pit toilets. Lots of parking. There’s a couple of hikes right from the visitor center. One of them does not allow dogs.
Katie Fiola Jones — Google review
The Rim Trail is pet friendly and the views from the visitor center are absolutely breathtaking. It was especially beautiful coated in snow. The staff at the visitor were very friendly and helpful. We look forward to going back in the spring.
Ladie Perez — Google review
Nice little vistor center with some interesting facts. If it's a busy day, prepare to park on the main road. They have a nice lookout on the back side of the vistor center that is worth checking out.
Kebler Pass is a scenic gravel road that stands at an altitude of over 10,000 feet and provides breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains. The area is serene and tranquil, especially during the night when it gets dark. It's a popular camping spot although it may be challenging to find available spaces during peak summer weekends. Hiking enthusiasts will appreciate the exceptional hiking trails available around Kebler Pass while cyclists can navigate through the gravel road on road bikes.
We drove our camper-van eastbound on the Kebler Pass Road from CO Hwy 133 in August 2023. The road is unpaved most of the way, and is, generally, in good condition. Spectacular Colorado Rockies scenery all along the way.
David Lobree — Google review
Incredible, awe-inspiring views at sunset!! Road is open and well maintained. Easily accessible. Great opportunity to see deer and other wildlife.
Kelsey Cook — Google review
Perfect location for fall colors! whole drive is beautiful and doable in a 2wd vehicle. High clearance is not needed.
syed ali — Google review
Kebler Pass is the best place in all of Colorado to see the changing Aspen and fall colors. They have removed most of the mining paraphernalia so you won’t see a lot the history that made the west. Another drainage, Ohio Pass is near Kebler Pass and makes for a great loop to Gunnison and then the historic town of Crested Butte. If you are in the area you will surely want to see these spectacular mountains and alpine scenery.
Timothy Paynter — Google review
Incredibly BEAUTIFUL drive through the mountains! Drove from Marble to Crested Butte and WOW! I can only imagine how amazing the fall colors are with all the aspens. Any type of vehicle can drive this - very well maintained road that switches between gravel and pavement. Can't wait to come back!
Danelle Wesley — Google review
Great place to go for when there is fall colors. Small hikes here and there also great car camping if you can find a spot. It’s first come first serve when it comes to camping spots, well the free ones are. In my opinion this probably the best spot to go see the fall colors. It’s not too crowded on the trails but the roads probably so since the majority of the people who come here don’t travel more then 10ft away from their car
Mark M — Google review
Went to Kebler Pass on Septenber 25 it's heaven on earth. The most beautiful drive I have ever seen. You drive through the tunnel of aspen trees turn gold everywhere, don't have enough time to explore ,will definitely go back.
Wanitaya Newberry — Google review
I had never heard of this place until a dirt road beckoned me up the hill, after all you can't go wrong in the Colorado Rockies in Autumn. This place blew me away
Daryl L. Hunter — Google review
Such a beautiful drive.. I had to stop several times to take pictures.. Took some extra miles to see Crested Butte and Lake Irwin.. Will def take the road again when the color change.. 💕💕
Dean Gold — Google review
Quiet, peaceful, dark at night. Great place for camping, if hard to find a spot most summer weekends. The scenery is beautiful, hiking options exceptional, and the gravel road is passable on road bikes for the more hardy cyclists.

The most beautiful place in Colorado for fall leaves. It’s one of the largest Aspen groves in the world!

When I feel like there is nothing else I can see to make me fall deeper in love with Colorado… here comes Azura. Y’all I don’t know why it took me so long to find this piece of heaven. It’s like you travel to Europe, but I take it back Azure can definitely compete with any European winery. The views is absolutely amazing 😻 the tastings are a great deal where you try 4 for $5. Coco is the official mascot and he makes sure to show you around the grounds. Cachi also enjoyed the location. Make sure to add this location to your bucket list. We want to try the other wineries but I am not sure they can beat the view. Also the service is friendly and very helpful.
Dayana Gomez — Google review
Tasty wine, INCREDIBLE view! Can't go wrong with $10 for 4 wine samplings (and you get to keep the wine glass), pretty great deal. The winery has a yacht club just a short walk away and it was so much fun. We read about an RC sailboat race and were so pleasantly surprised when they told us we could participate! Jack with the yacht club taught us how to "sail" and we had an absolute blast. Super wonderful place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine, would highly recommend!
Jennifer Nguyen — Google review
I absolutely love this place. Views are unworldly, food was top notch, and wine was extremely tasteful. This place really is a slice of Italy in CO. Everyone there is so nice and can tell that it's very family oriented by the way it's run. They have a true passion in the things they do and it shows. I will be back without question.
Drew Tj — Google review
Absolutely beautiful winery. The landscaping, art, wine, and comfortable atmosphere are a must-see. We really enjoyed our experience here and would love to come back in the future
Natasha Laramie — Google review
Good wine, beautiful view and nice art gallery!

Wonderful wine and then take a bottle to Chef Joe’s porch and enjoy the best charcuterie platter and salmon toast on the Western slope. Delicious!
Jessica Young — Google review
Absolutely 10/10 experience. The winery is set in the most beautiful location with a spectacular view. There is ample seating, from patio couches, tables overlooking the edge, and waterfront chairs, all of it excellent. We were immediately greeted and the service was superb. The wine was very good and we both found something we liked easily. My only regret is not buying more bottles to take home!
Brianna Staubo — Google review
First of all, approaching the winery was like rolling up to an Italian villa, with beautiful grounds and lush landscaping. The wine tasting was very reasonably priced, with the ability to sample 4 different wines for $10, and even included the glass. They were all very well done, and I honestly liked everything I tried. I settled for the yacht club red for my full glass, and settled down under their pergola patio, which sported incredible views and offered shade as well. We were really impressed with everything, and while we didn’t get food, we came back with 2 bottles of the Yacht Club Red, as it’s only available at the vineyard and not distributed locally. Guess just a good reason to come back! Azura was by far the best vineyard of all the ones we tried in the area and we’d absolutely come back!
Robert Foltz — Google review
First off the staff is very friendly and proud of their establishment. (as they should be) we LOVED the atmosphere and view. This place is classy and well thoughtout. My reason for giving only 4 stars is the lack of snacks. We shared 3 bottles of wine during the several hours there and hoped for a few more food options. This place is still a must... Make the time and come here... Bring snacks and sit back to enjoy the breathtaking sights
Scott Layman — Google review
We stopped by to taste some of your local wine and spent the afternoon. We had planned on visiting many other wineries around the valley but decided that after we were treated so well at Azura we’d just head back to Crested Butte. Thanks for sharing your beautiful property and winery with us. We will be back and share our story with our friends!!!
Thanks for making it personal and engaging with us on our visit!!!
Sincerely Floyd and Lori

Great place. They offer free tasting and I our case we bought two glasses to enjoy their setting. The place is nice and a good stop if someone is in the area. We talked to the owner-sailor a bit. I am sure he has way more stories to tell. There is also some art for sale
jose lourenco — Google review
Such a great place. Chef Joseph Kerns was cooking great food and the wines were divine. Service was excellent and fun. It was a great place to hang out and meet some really cool people. Amazing views from the tasting room and seating area.
I had a wonderful trip in late January/early February. I went during the week, it was very uncrowded, no lift lines. Employees were friendly. Snow was great, well groomed runs. They have two high speed quad chairs at the base which get you to the top of the mountain quickly.
I have read all sorts of bad press about Vail Resorts ownership and mismanagement. I witnessed no problems, I think the locals naturally are adverse to big conglomerates buying their resort. The town of Crested Butte down below is a short and easy drive with lots of neat and funky bars and restaurants and shops. If you want to escape the crowds and have more laid back atmosphere than Vail or Aspen, Crested Butte is the way to go ! I stayed at the Grand Lodge and it was a nice property, only a five minute walk to the lifts.
Bryan Nelson — Google review
Crested Butte mountain as some very good difficult runs. The snow was great while we were there and some of the inbound double black runs were amazing and full of snow. I don't know that I would recommend it for beginners but for expert skiers this is an amazing place.
Devin Sain — Google review
I had an amazing time at Crested Butte Ski Resort! The mountain is absolutely breathtaking, and the skiing was some of the best I've ever experienced. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and the facilities were top-notch. I appreciated the variety of runs available, and the views from the top of the mountain were simply incredible. I would highly recommend Crested Butte Ski Resort to anyone looking for a fantastic skiing experience. It's definitely one of the best ski resorts I've ever been to!

Cody from Las Vegas, that was working at the ticket counter, gave us outstanding service! We had a small issue with being Vail resort employees and our passes and he was able to walk us through the process to help us out. We had an outstanding time at CB and before we left, we went back to him to resolve our issue, he helped us out and fixed our issue! It is so nice to see an employee that is helpful and caring about his job with this great resort. Thank you Vail resorts for another wonderful experience!!! EPIC!
Anita — Google review
This mountain has everything from beginner hills to extreme advanced mountain terrain. The chair lift staff are amicable. The base of the mountain has several ski shops and several restaurants. It's only a couple minute walk from your hotel room to the chair lifts. There are free busses that run every several minutes from the resort to the nearby downtown area that open up your options for food and beverage. One of their ski shops does board and ski maintenance such as wax and sharpening, and were able to get my board done overnight. Great place to visit!
Gerard D — Google review
Loved this beautiful mountain. There’s a good amount of wide-open terrain for training and plenty of advanced runs. Heads up, it's a bit isolated, and a good portion of the staff/ski instructors go out of the way to make sure you feel unwelcome.

READ IF YOU ONLY WANT TO RIDE THE LIFT TO THE TOP DURING SUMMER- Beware! I wanted to take my family to the top of Crested Butte to have lunch. Went to the desk to pay for the very expensive $39 per person fee to ride the lift one time. I specifically asked the seasoned adult staff member who was selling me the tickets about the restaurant at the top of the lift as we wanted to enjoy a nice meal at the top of the mountain. He said the restaurant closed at 4pm and provided instructions on which direction to walk and how long it should take us to find it once at the top. It was 1:30pm. I paid the $200 for the 5 of us to ride the lift as I thought it would be a special thing for my family to do. After arriving at the top, we began to head into the suggested direction. After wondering around for an hour in the blazing sun (as there are NO signs directing walkers to the restaurant) we learned the restaurant closed earlier in the day and was not even open! Frustrated, hot, and hungry, we all rode the lift back down. I went right back to the ticket office to confront the staff person who sold me the tickets. He reminded me that he used words like should, might, ought, and could and that he made no promises and would not stand behind the information he provided me which is why I bought the tickets in the first place. I asked for a manager who was ironically standing right next to him and who had already heard my disappointment about what happened. She rudely spouted back about some fine print located within their policy and that I was just buying a one time trip up the lift and not a guarantee to an open restaurant. She was not willing to accommodate me in any way. LESSON LEARNED>>Crested Butte staff will tell you anything you want to hear to deceive and mislead you into buy a lift ticket. If they even take the time to respond to this review, I’m sure they will reply with some hollow apology and mention some pathetic policy as to why they responded the way they did. Crested Butte only cares about scamming you out of your money and not if you are happy as a patron. AND THEY CERTAINTY ARE NOT CONCERNED ABOUT DOING THE RIGHT THING! Staff is not equipped with accurate information to answer your questions. They act like they hate their jobs and don’t even want to be there. It is so sad that managment supports their staff by allowing them to treat their customers this way! Crested Butte staff has no clue what is happening at the top of the lift, do not trust them and purchase tickets based upon the details they provide. You have been warned!
Gregory Freeman — Google review
Crested Butte is a wonderful ski area. While I was there, conditions were excellent with fresh powder the first three days. The Saturday lift lines were expected to be the longest, but it was way better than ski areas closer to Denver. The other days... We got so many runs in because of the short lines. It was fabulous.
Michael Lohss — Google review
honestly feel like the place was better before Vail bought this mountain. considered giving you 3 stars but your employees deserve 5stars. so because of them you got to keep a 4star review.
still love the spectacular views on the mountain.
feel like with only a small portion of the mountain being open the tickets should be way cheaper than they are. kind of ridiculous the price for the lifts and runs that were open.
Dave Andrews — Google review
Absolutely amazing resort. Wide trails, great snow, fast lifts, cute ski town, breathtaking views. Not at all crowded, never waited more than 10 minutes for a chair lift on a peak season weekend.
Jonathan Norris — Google review
Love the mountain, the people and the town! Service is a little lacking due to the worker shortage. Since Vail purchased the resort, you can tell things are in transition and a lot of the original appeal of CB is lacking. We stayed at the Grand Lodge for Spring skiing and it's always a tried and true place that's perfectly located for skiing, shopping and transportation at Mt. Crested Butte.
Wade Baskin — Google review
Came here to listen to a free concert in their summer concert series. What a total blast. Everyone dancing and having fun. Good band, good sound system, amazing mountain view as the backdrop.

First time at Crested! We stayed at the Grand Lodge thru Airbnb. The only reason for the 4 stars for rooms is the beds. It's sad that the Airbnb owners think that the cheapest hardest mattress is OK, for what is paid a good pillow top mattress would be recovered quickly. Onward! The short distance to the base lift was fabulous! We had 5-8" of fresh powder the first day and perfectly groomed runs the next! The rental at the base was helpful and easy to work with. There is a bus service, FREE, that takes you into town and back. In town we ate at Stash Pizza and Bonez, both were amazing and offered Vegan options! Crested even has their own local brewery, Irwin Brewing Company! I had their Mexican Lager at the mountains base and it was wonderful! I wished I could find a way to get it here in Kansas. All said, I'll be back!!!

Stayed at St Moritz apartments which was ski in ski out. Ski school for kids was very convenient and had really good teachers. 4 ski days and never got bored. The lines were short. Max of 5 minutes. Often just skied up to the lift. I will definitely return.

BEAUTIFUL mountain that wasn’t too busy on 12/26! Very friendly and welcoming staff. Plenty of greens and blues open, with a few blacks groomed as well. Enjoyed the umbrella restaurant on the mountain too!

Crested Butte is a nice mountain with all levels but is on the smaller side. The views are simply amazing. The town is quaint and prices for everything is reasonable.

Crested Butte was a fun filled weekend of adventure. The scenery is top notch and the skiing is amazing. First time there but I'll be back.

Great skiing. Got EPIC passes for after Christmas for a couple days. Stayed in Almont. The mountain was well staffed. Staff was friendly. Ski lessons were good. Lift lines moved along. Has slopes for every skill. Enjoyed the wide open runs. Some were more narrow than our family preferred (Gunsight). Ate at the Umbrella Bar (brauts) and the line crawled. It is probably hard to keep buns moist at altitude, but staff kept the water jug full and the bathrooms were fine. Enjoyed the Painter Boy runs numerous times.
Crystal Mill is a wooden structure that dates back to 1892, located near a river with picturesque mountain views. It can be accessed by following a hiking trail, but the road leading up to it is only approximately 4.5 miles long and can take an hour and a half to two hours to navigate due to its poor condition. Despite the bumpy ride, the scenery along the way is stunning, especially during fall when the vibrant colors accentuate everything.
Alright, the mill itself, FANTASTIC! The surrounding area and scenic views travelling to the mill, FANTASTIC! However: I drove the five miles in a Dodge Dakota 4x4, it did great, no problems whatsoever...except it's a bit wide for the trail, I slide on a rock and almost went over the edge...and I mean edge...a cliff really...at the bottom I saw a rusted out truck on it's roof. A jeep wrangler or Cherokee would be better suited because they're not as wide. What I'd really recommend, a four wheeler, it appeared to be the funner way to go and definitely safest. As far as mountain biking, anyone who tells you it's great there, LIARS. Sharp rocks, steep inclines, no fun.
Best way, hiking or a Jeep wrangler...most line production 4wheel drive trucks will make it, but if you meet up with another motorist on the treacherous part, someone's going to have to back down to a safe spot and I'm not lying about the cliff...once I was done taking pictures I prayed I wouldn't meet anyone on the trail back, I did, but it was in places where it was easy to maneuver. Hike or 4wheeler, that's my recommendation, any other way just isn't worth it. I had a blast despite almost going over the edge. The trail picture, well, that's the easiest part of the trail you have to drive and that's in the beginning. Oh, there is someone there charging 10 bucks to go beyond the ropes. You can still take pictures without paying the ten bucks.

What a gorgeous day, beautiful colors, and not a lot of traffic. Jeep trail road sign wasn't real visible and could use some refurbishing. Not too bad of a ride. If hiking, be prepared for rain at anytime.

Crystal Mill was Spectacular! The road to Get there was awful. We went in a wide truck and there were definitely areas where we got thrown around pretty good, and some narrow spots where I feared we could go over the edge. To give you an idea on how bad the road is, it is only ~4.5 miles long and I think we took about an hour and a half to two hours to get there. The scenery is great but pictures were difficult with all of the bouncing. The trip back down was only an hour or so. Several people walking despite how cold it was.
The Mill and the little town a little further in are amazing, and the vibrant fall colors really emphasized everything.

Beautiful scenery the entire way. If you are an experienced 4x4 driver you can loop around. Takes about 2-3 hours. We took our can am side by side up 3 times now. Great ride. 10 dollars to go to the bottom. You can swim but the waternis pretty cold even in August. Fall time is even better!!
Stacey Abeyta — Google review
It was a rough drive, even in a 4x4 truck. I recommend a smaller 4x4 like a jeep. We were disappointed that we couldn't get down to the base of the mill for pictures but completely understand why it's been closed off to the public. (Vandalism 😥)
There is a nice picnic table under a tree, and even a two holes outhouse for the brave visitors! 🤣
Beverly Simpson-Hobbs — Google review
Do not drive anything but high clearance 4x4s or ATVs/side-by-sides to the mill. Larger trucks may have difficulty getting through some of the more narrow sections of road as traffic does go in both directions and there is only room for one car in many spots. Get used to driving alongside a cliff edge and try not to look at the mangled remains of vehicles at the bottom that have rolled down the cliff. The mill is badass though!
Justin Sharick — Google review
It is absolutely breath-taking. If you have a 4 wheel drive with some clearance I highly recommend driving out to the mills it is definitely worth it, pictures do not do it justice.
If you would like to hike the trail instead of driving it I recommend starting early in the morning, the trail is longer and rougher then you might think not to mention the traffic.
My only complaint is the jeep rental place... if you can avoid taking the jeep rental tour I would highly recommend it, do it on your own if you can.
One of the drivers (a middle aged female) is down right rude
There are a few complaints about her on the review sites....I won't go into detail, but if I never see that lady again in my life it will be too soon. I waited several years to see the mills and it was almost tarnished by that woman

Iconic! The southern side of the trail loop was easy on my motorcycle in dry weather, but I didn't try the supposedly-rockier northern side
John Lipton — Google review
Mill was cold to see. But it was the drive there that was the amazing. You need to be in a keep and have to feel comfortable to very very rough ride for the entire off road trail. The short section is much better if you just want to get there and a small taste of the trail . Many will not like this rough and some say scary ride. I loved it but love off road trails like this!

What a beautiful place. But if your vehicle is not necessarily jeep style, take a tour. My car is a Honda Pilot Elite, but when I came down, the tire flattened and all system warning lights came on, resulting in really expensive repairs. It is an off-road that is tougher than you can imagine. However, I have no regrets about the experience of visiting that beautiful place.
여SUN — Google review
Definitely a must see whether you hike to it or drive. The road there is rough and rocky but not impassable. Don't let the reviews fool you, i think some of them are locals who are getting tired of the traffic. Either that or they don't know how to overland. While I definitely recommend a vehicle with good ground clearance and at least all wheel drive, I've read several stories of 2x4 vehicles making it just fine. We did it in a 21 subaru crosstrek with nothing but falken wild peak tires and only bumped (not scraped) the bottom twice on the way in and once on the way out. It took me an hour each way because I took my time choosing a path that was easier on our crosstrek. Fortunately, it wasn't very busy that day and only had to stop for 2 vehicles to pass coming in and going out. The trail is very narrow in places and requires your full attention, but the payoff of the beauty of the mill and the drive in are worth it to me. I would definitely do it again.

Beautiful and the jeep ride there was unreal. Beautiful. Stayed in marble and did the crystal mills Jeep excursion. Call in advance. Loved it.
Main Connie — Google review
The drive up there is a little crazy. You need a 4x4 vehicle. The first hill is the hardest probably. Your are on cliff the all way. But it is worth the trip. The Mill is gorgeous. There is the middle on the forest.

Tuesday afternoon drive. Still a good amount of traffic. Narrow trails, someone will have to back up, and thats not fun here. There is a lot cliffs too. The scenery. Is amazing, never been anywhere like it. Try to stay quiet and you’ll possibly see a moose. The drive was long but well well worth it. Super rocky so air down.

Smitty, with Crystal River Jeep Tours, took us up to Crystal City early one morning so that my husband and I could do the Geneva Lake hike (Lead King Basin Road was closed at the time). He was friendly, helpful, and was right on time. He drives very safely. I have a fear of heights, but never once felt uneasy. The mountain and river views in this area are among the prettiest I’ve ever seen. Such stunning beauty. Crystal City is a fascinating place to see, and Smitty provided lots of interesting information about the road and the area on our drive. We agreed on a time at which he would pick us up at the end of the day, and after 8 hours of hiking, we were so grateful to see him there waiting when we arrived back in Crystal City. He was right on time. We would use Crystal River Jeep Tours again in a heartbeat. Professional, friendly, prompt, helpful - an all-around wonderful experience.

I just took my second tour of the year yesterday 9/30/23 to see the fall colors. Sam and her team are amazing and so much fun to talk to. You can't go wrong having an experienced driver to navigate those crazy roads with the site-seeing traffic while you sit back and enjoy the breathtaking views. We loved our driver Brian so much we requested him for this second tour. Their knowledge of the area history just adds to the experience. Can't recommend enough, and we'll definitely be back!

Fantastic experience, this is the best way to go see the Crystal Mill in my opinion. Not only do you get very interesting history about the area/trail/mill and town, but I would definitely not recommend trying to take a vehicle to the mill unless you have a VERY good off-road vehicle and are an experienced off-roader. Super friendly customer service and attitude from everyone, we had a great time.

The owner of this establishment was extremely unprofessional and rude. We broke her "no dog rule" due to a misunderstanding (which she wouldn't let us explain or apologize for). Instead of being professional and a) denying us service or b) charging us extra for the inconvenience, she proceeded to berate, chastise and threaten to charge us for the cost of a whole jeep. (Keep in mind the dogs are small and stayed in our lap for the duration of the trip. We even brought a towel for the dog to lay on as a "hair catcher"). So the trip started off on a bad note.
The trip itself was great! Crystal mill was beautiful and the scenery was amazing! The guides (Colten and Jerry) were also great!
Upon return, we received more chastisement from the owner about the dogs and further reminder that the dogs "will never be allowed again". We received the message loud and clear before the trip, we didn't need further reminder of our infraction. We won't be back... with or without dogs...so I guess you got your wish.

Owners are amazing! Our tour guide David was also amazing! They give a quick tour of the town before a beautiful ride to Crystal Mill. Very informative, including a binder of old photos to see what things were like then and now. They also have a small gift shop with clothing, souvenirs, and wonderful woodcarvings made by Sam (owner). This tour definitely checked off an unforgettable time on my bucket list. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We stayed at a vacation rental across the street from Crystal River Jeep Tours. We did not take a tour, as we were there with our own UTVs, but we ran into Sam, multiple times during our stay and each time she provided great information on the area. Our second day of riding, Sam answered several questions we had and gave us a few recommendations (and guidance) of where to go. Her recommendations were top notch and sent us to see a few of the most amazing sights we have seen in Colorado.

Can’t speak directly to the experience of a guided Jeep tour, but will speak directly to the great help Sam and Colton were following our adventure on the “spicy/very spicy” mountain road. We encountered them while having dinner after coming back into Marble. We shared our flat lander mishaps with them, which garnered some great laughs for all. And they directed us to some great resources for repair and future adventures. Thanks, Sam and Colton.
The Maroon Bells Scenic Area is home to iconic mountain peaks that rise over 14,000 feet and are known for their vivid colors caused by mineral streaking. There is a shuttle bus available to access the scenic viewing area. Despite the less than ideal late afternoon light for photos, it is still a breathtaking sight and visitors can enjoy spending time at beautiful Maroon Lake nearby. The twin peaks are truly majestic and should not be missed when visiting the area.
This place is EXQUISITE, well worth the drive. Although we had no reservations- the system was down - you will love the road leading up to it.
There will be thousands of opportunities to take pictures, when you are able to pull to the side.
Please be extra careful with cyclist.
Open your windows, slow down and enjoyed the hand of the L-rd!

The beauty of this place cannot be overstated. If you have the chance to go, do it! Rugged mountains, babbling streams, fields of wild flowers, turquoise blue lakes...all within view of the parking lot. If you don't have it in you for a hike, stroll around Maroon Lake, located 5 minutes from the parking lot. There are even a couple benches along the path if you want to sit back and take it in. If you're looking for a short, but rewarding hike, go to Crater Lake (about 3.5 miles round trip).
We hiked from the parking lot, past crater lake, and up to buckskin pass. The apple watch gave a round trip distance of 10.5 miles (with some side diversions). Total hike time was about 4.5 hour with stops for snacks and lunch in the pass. We passed a handful of other people, but it never felt overcrowded considering it was a Sunday (though rain was in the forecast).
The shuttle service from the Highlands was hassle-free. We took the 8am shuttle to avoid the afternoon rain. They recommend getting there 45 minutes early, but I think 15 would suffice. We sat around for a while waiting to board. At the drop off point there are bathrooms and a covered sitting area for convenience.

One of the best fall seasonal places in CO! We booked bus reservation to the bells, which was on time and overall had a fun walking and hiking around the trail with golden yellow aspens all around.

Maroon Bells was a bucket list achievement for me. I always saw pictures and videos of this beautiful area in the summer. However, winter is equally beautiful and you can ice skate ⛸️ on the lake when its frozen!
Absolutely beautiful and wonderful experience and hike. Can you spot the rock formation of the howling coyote between the two peaks?
The views at Maroon Bells are stunning and breathtaking anytime of year. In the summer and fall, it is most popular and requires a pass and shuttle ride. For a short time in the winter, it is FREE and doesn't require reservations but it is first come first serve.
Phillipe Rivera — Google review
The Maroon Peaks were an amazing site from the lake, and the parking area was surrounded by several other beautiful and unique peaks. Rain and snow the night prior left the sky cloudy, the ground wet, and the air cold so I would definitely like to come back to see everything in the other seasons.
You are supposed to make parking reservations ($10) or included with an Annual parks pass and supposedly arrive between midnight and 8am. However, the park ranger station didn’t seem to open up until ~7:30 - ~8am.
Despite the tickets being almost sold out when I made reservations (Back in May!) there were only a handful of other people there before we left. There were people coming in after 8am when we were leaving. This may be because of how late in the season we came and the rangers may be there earlier and be more strict during warmer months when they expect to have more visitors.
Phoenix Hiraeth — Google review
So I booked a parking reservation to the Maroon Bells months in advance and as I got closer to the date we realized that you need to be parked there before 8 am to have driving access to the park. That unfortunately wasn't going to be possible for us this trip. Out of pure coincidence, instead of visiting Maroon Bells, we ended up hiking up to the Elk Camp Summit the day of our reservation and much to my surprise we got the stunning views of the Bells away! What a great thing to keep in mind if you don't have time to make it over to the Maroon Bells. You can just take the Elk Camp lift or hike up to the Elk Camp summit at Snowmass and get the amazing views. Just make sure to bring a camera that has a nice zoom feature.

Title: A Majestic Escape to Maroon Bells, Colorado!😍
Review:
I had the incredible opportunity to visit Maroon Bells, Colorado, and it was an absolute dream come true! Nestled amidst the rugged Rocky Mountains, Maroon Bells is a true gem of natural beauty that left me awe-inspired at every turn.
The iconic twin peaks, reflected in the crystal-clear Maroon Lake, create a picture-perfect scene that belongs on a postcard.
The hiking trails cater to all levels of expertise, providing ample opportunities to immerse oneself in nature. As I ventured along the trails, I was greeted by towering aspen groves, wildflower meadows, and majestic evergreen forests. The air was crisp, the sound of birdsong filled the air, and the tranquility was unmatched.
The visitor center staff were friendly and knowledgeable, offering insights and suggestions for making the most of my time at Maroon Bells. The facilities were well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable experience for all visitors.
If you're seeking a nature lover's paradise, Maroon Bells is an absolute must-visit destination. I left feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and in awe of the incredible beauty that nature has to offer.

I loved this place! There weren't many people when my family and I went, and the hiking trails were perfect. I would recommend coming here to anyone. My favorite part was the perfect length hiking trail, we saw so many deer, and my husband loved bird watching. Along the hike, there are streams and beautiful ponds of water. Im definitely coming back again.

Stunning!!
This beautiful piece of land is heavenly. And the fall colors add to the beauty.
You need bus service reservations to visit the Maroon bells, they do allow people without reservations to board the bus only after the reserved seats are occupied. I visited on a Sunday morning without reservation, but still was able to board the bus quickly.
You can bike to the area but it’s a bit far.

Heaven is the only right word. This place is so beautiful and awesome especially during the fall. Try to reserve your spot otherwise you have to get entry during morning hours between 6AM to 8Am. Campsites are excellent and you can see lots of stars and have a great time here. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Stunning; a must-see! This was one of our favorite experiences on the trip out to Colorado. With its beautiful lake and trails, we enjoyed it tremendously. The only thing was the flies; there were so many of them! It was insane how many there were. Some of these insects also bite.
Other than those bugs, the view of the practically rusting mountains will stay with me forever. The pictures you are able to get and the life you see are some of the best in the parks around. Overall, I absolutely recommend this place and the trails it offers. Bring a camera!

Standing at the heart of the Maroon Bells, Colorado's iconic twin peaks, I found myself immersed in a world of natural wonder that exceeded all expectations. The early morning air was crisp and clean, and the scent of pine trees surrounded me as I gazed upon the mirrored perfection of Maroon Lake. The water's surface was so still that it seemed like a flawless reflection of the towering, snow-capped Maroon Peaks above.
As I embarked on a serene hike along the Crater Lake Trail, the vibrant aspen leaves painted the landscape with shades of gold and crimson, a breathtaking autumn tapestry. The trail wound through groves of quaking aspens and fragrant evergreen forests, offering a symphony of nature's sounds – the rustling of leaves, the gentle babble of streams, and the occasional chirping of birds.
The experience of Maroon Bells, Colorado, was a reminder of the Earth's incredible beauty and its ability to inspire profound awe. It was a moment of perfect stillness, natural splendor, and a deep connection to the great outdoors, etching an indelible memory of serenity and wonder into my soul.

Wow, the Four Pass Loop in Colorado is an epic adventure! Went for a 3-day hike and it's no joke, but the views are totally worth it. Each pass felt like a huge accomplishment, with awesome panoramas at the top that make you forget about the grueling uphill.
Day 1 was the toughest uphill, going up buckskin pass. The altitude can hit you, so don't underestimate it. Camped at snowmass lake, totally beautiful, but somewhat crowded.
Day 2 was the biggest downhill challenge: I went up and over trail rider pass, and the downhill was Exhausting but exhilarating! Wildflowers were in bloom and the views were picture-perfect. You really feel like you're walking on top of the world.
Day 3 I covered the final two passes, Frigid Air and West Maroon.
The longest of the three days, but the climbs steep, but not as long. I made it back down safe and sound, though, with a sense of accomplishment that's hard to describe.
If you're looking for a hike that challenges you but gives back tenfold in awe-inspiring scenery, this is it. Just make sure you're prepared—physically and gear-wise. This trail doesn't mess around!

Such an expansive property with mountains of skiing. You can spend days here without hitting the same run twice. Lots of lifts allow you to quickly ascend to the mountain tops, where there are several restaurants and, well ski runs to enjoy.

Arriving the the reception desk checked me in and neglected to tell me that I need to go one elevator bank go to the 3rd floor, then go way down a hall and I mean way down. Then get on another very slow elevator to get to the 6th floor. Shocker there are 2 sixth floors. Get in the room and the lights don't work. I call the front desk and no answer also the mailbox is full. So I call reservations and they get to someone that tells me I have to put my room key in some receptacle by the door. Well it is dark in the room and you can't see the receptacle. Wow, I did speak to the manager and was moved to a more convenient room. Not great for a conference at all.

The John Denver Sanctuary is a landscaped retreat located alongside the Roaring Fork River in Aspen. This park pays homage to the music icon John Denver, featuring lush grass, perennial flowers and engraved rocks with his lyrics etched on them. Visitors can take time to reflect on their experiences in Aspen and what the Rocky Mountains mean to them. The park boasts stunning gardens, water features such as ponds and streams, creating a serene atmosphere for all who visit.
What lyrics describe the ineluctable glory of the Rocky Mountains better than John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High"? I assume that's why Aspen's Parks and Open Spaces department decided to create the John Denver Sanctuary.
(In case you forget the lyrics, they are engraved on a large boulder.)
Some of John Denver's other songs are also engraved on stones as is the wisdom of Carl Sagan.
The Sanctuary sits between the gloriously green Rio Grande Park and the mighty Roaring Fork River (which does indeed roar.)
The sanctuary part is a grassy area with stones arranged in a semi-circle amphitheater style. It's the perfect place to sit and contemplate. Be still and you can hear the rush of the river mix with the happy chirping of birds. Somehow those Colorado skies are a sparkling azure blue.
I like to walk on the paved path riverside. It gently meanders along the river banks. Beautiful flowers add vivid splashes of color.
Whenever life becomes a battlefield, I like to along the river in the Sanctuary. Somehow the river washes away the anger and I feel ready to take the @#$%!
A must if you show up in Aspen.

Although small, I'd say this park is worth a visit while in Aspen. It is a vfery serene and inspiring park. We enjoyed the peace and quiet as well as a family sing along of Annie's Song and Sunshine on my Shoulders. The views of the river and the mountains are spectacular. There is a few street parking spaces, but there's also a public parking garage.

I come and walk through here everytime I visit Aspen.
In my opinion Aspen and this sanctuary are the most beautiful places on Earth.
If you come in the summer months, the trees will be green and the colors of the flowers really pop.
If you come in the fall, you'll see all the Aspen trees in shades of gold, orange and there's vibrant reds as well mixed with the greens of the pines.
The spring will have the trees blooming.
Words could never do this place justice. Take a look at online pictures to see a glimpse of what you can experience.

Cool place to meditate and to enjoy, some of his songs are written in the stones, there is also a nice creek to walk along with your bike or dog

What a beautiful park to visit. There's running river water, beautifully placed stones and rocks giving this park a Zen-like setting. I had the opportunity to visit on a Wednesday morning where the traffic was low and I was truly able to take in nature.

How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care.
Friends around the campfire and everybody's high.
He walks in quiet solitude, the forest and the streams.
Seeking grace in every step he takes.
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake.
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun.
It was very hot and that was the end.
Kermit was very upset.

This is a wonderful tribute. The path is a little rugged for those with mobility issues. It is located beside the Roaring Fork River on the SE side of Aspen. The giant bolers with John's lyrics are easily found and places provide for quiet contemplation.

Serene and beautiful. Reading his lyrics about this gorgeous and very special mountain range while experiencing it directly was magical!

Gorgeous place to explore a quick walk from Aspen. We loved the views and light snowy terrain.

Located right next to the Rio Grande Trail in Aspen, this is a beautiful memorial dedicated to the life of John Denver. The whole Sanctuary area is georgous. The Denver family must be proud as it's really one of the most beautiful memorials that I've ever seen, especially in the summertime. If you're in the area, this memorial is a must visit.

Absolutely beautiful with many large boulders that have words to several of his songs engraved on them. John would have been proud of the honor his town bestowed on him. ❤️❤️

As a life long JD fan, visiting the sanctuary and Aspen has been a bucket list item. The Song Garden that the city of Aspen created is magical. Well worth the visit.

Aptly named serene park in an otherwise bustling Aspen. Several large granite boulders with lyrics of John's songs. Don't miss this chance to relax and decompress.

Visited this place on a winter day and enjoyed it very much. Worth a stop while in Aspen.
Sunlight Mountain Resort offers a variety of winter activities including snowmobile tours, cross-country skiing and access to 67 trails. During the summer months, visitors can enjoy hiking and biking. The staff at the resort are known for being very friendly and helpful, particularly those working in the rental area. Children's ski school is also available with instructors who take pride in teaching young ones how to ski. Visitors with little experience are able to learn more about skiing and enjoy it over multiple days.
Love Sunlight ski resort! We were staying in Aspen but heard such good things about Sunlight we decided to try them out. The price for all things was on point and us being somewhat beginner skiers we wanted something affordable. Right from the start when renting out gear the staff was amazing. They joked and had fun with our whole family and made us feel comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. The staff all around was helpful and friendly. Plenty of seating inside and out. I loved how the locals and the visitor's we're pretty much ready to talk or lend a helping hand when me or my son fell. My husband hung out on deck watching and chatting with the friendlies. The last run of the day I fell wrong and hurt my wrist, hip and knee so had my son go get help since I wasn't able to make it back down the hill. Bobby came to my rescue and helped me onto the sled and safely down the mountain. We will for sure be back and this time we'll stay and play here at Sunlight and highly recommend.

The lifts are old and slow, but no one seems to mind since you will wait in line for it for 0 minutes usually. The runs are fabulous and totally unique vs other places in Colorado. The lift tickets are also relatively cheap. This is the best place to avoid a crowd and have the mountain to yourself.

Sunlight is a beautiful gem! Has all the views and great CO snow but isn't crowded. The lifts are definitely a little ancient but our family had a blast at this resort. Everyone is so nice! Has runs for everyone! We stayed at the Gnarly Inn at the bottom which is an experience in itself. About 20 min from Glenwood Springs.

Very friendly staff! Guys at the rental area very helpful, my best experience with ski resort! I loved the experience and definitely will come back! I can tell staff in kids school enjoy teaching kids skiing! It was nice to see how they worked with them. Overall great experience for a person with very little experience like me. I was able to learn more and enjoy skiing both days, i even went on the top on the mountain!! Views are breathtaking!!!

A great "locals" ski resort! My son and I took ski lessons which were fun and exhausting. We were placed in a large group but the four instructors kept it fun and real. From the lesson window, rental store, to the lifts , the staff were helpful and smiling. The place is off the beaten path and the parking lots filled up pretty quick. There are enough slopes that it seemed like the runs were fairly empty. The lines moved quickly if there were any. Family friendly, Awesome staff everywhere and great environment overall. The prices were cheaper than the Fancy resorts nearby. If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding and not needing the frills of stores at the base then this place is a must experience.
Larry Griffis — Google review
I can't say enough great things about this resort. It has everything a skiing-loving person could want, but in a low key, laid back, family friendly way. And perhaps more important, it's as opposite from the big corporate Colorado resorts as possible. It's exactly perfect the way it is. No lines, no selling your kidney for a lift ticket... just skiing on a beautiful mountain. The varied terrain is amazing and has as many challenges as one could want while skiing in the most beautiful of mountain scenery. Along with challenging terrain it has equally relaxing, pure fun, long green runs that take you though the easy route of those incredible mountains. Most importantly, did I mention there were no lift lines?

Me & my significant other went to snowmobile here. We went for the longer trip (2.5hrs). It was an amazing experience. It was our first time trying. The instructors were very kind & very very helpful. They made it 10x better to be honest. Views were absolutely astonishing. The snowmobiles are very fun & fast as well.

Fun times to be had here for sure but be warned that it is particularly tricky in many places to have sufficient momentum to make it up the rolling hills that many trails take you through. I had to take my bindings off and walk in several places, several times at this resort. Still had a great day and will definitely come back

My son and I had a wonderful time. Great location for families with tiny skiers and boarders.
Weather: Beautiful sunny day in the high 30s.
Things we enjoyed were reasonable ticket prices, great food and beer at reasonable prices, and fun slopes. I really enjoyed the tuna melt and zucchini Fries. For me the zucchini fries were a new thing that I enjoyed with a good beer. Slopes have slow ski lifts but I personally did not find this to be an issue as it gave skiers plenty of room to ski.
I personally found this location great because the slopes all lead to the restaurant where I can take a break and keep an eye on the kids.
We stayed at Glenwood and really enjoyed the hot springs after a day of skiing.

I give this resort 4.5 stars! It would receive 5 stars if the kids in the rental shop were a little better trained. This resort shined in other areas though! First, it's very uncrowded and has some great long runs. The lifts were not the greatest but so many times I would look ahead and behind me on a run and...I was the only one there. The staff was super friendly, from the lift attendants to the lodge cafe workers to Bill in the locker office. The food was great and reasonably priced compared to other resorts.
We did not have great snow unfortunately and there were some icy patches but did I mention that I had the mountain to myself many times? I improved so much. We put a 13 year old in ski lessons the first morning and not only were they super reasonable, she graduated to blues by the second day.
We visited NYE weekend. The first day we arrived at 8.30 and parked right in front of the entrance. Second day we arrived at almost 10 and had a 1 or 2 minute walk. We used our Indy passes and it was super easy. Just show them at the lift ticket window in exchange for lift tickets. Only once was the beginner lift busy. Again, the lifts could themselves could be better (my boots and skis felt like 500 pound weights without foot rests) but if you want wide open spaces to ski, this is the place!
Justine Vild — Google review
Fantastic IndyPass resort, nice long greens, fast blues, and nice expert terrain. Yes, very slow lifts but 0 lift lines and affordable food and drinks. The parking lot could be paved but really nothing to complain about. We decided to try this place on a whim and definitely worth the drive. We'll be back for sure.

I love Sunlight Mountain. It's not crowded, reasonably priced, and has varied terrain. Most of the time I go on ski trips, this is where I travel to. The nearby town of Glenwood Springs is lovely and a great place to stay. Food on the mountain is good and not as expensive as one might expect. Only drawback is they removed the ski lockers and now you have to take them home nightly.

Great variety for a pretty small ski resort! Eastern ridge is ungroomed and pretty rough/ challenging. But the western side blues are fantastic, and the greens aren't too flat. Beautiful view of Sopris Mountain.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a family amusement park located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado that features a variety of activities such as cave tours and rides. The park is known for its alpine coaster, zip line, and theater with moving seats.
Sooooo fun! We had a blast! The view is amazing! There weren’t any lines to wait in and the staff were so kind! We had Becca as a tour guide through one of the caves and it was a great tour! She was funny and very knowledgeable about all of the tour!

Great unique experience. Small mountain top adventure and thrill ride park. The thrill rides were so fun. Cave tours nice and the staff guides were so knowledgeable and engaging. Resturant reasonable, food good, views excellent. Small size of the park made it perfect for a relaxed day. Lines were not terrible. Good stop for sure.

We travel all over the country visiting as many amusement and theme parks as we can. This park has been a bucket list for us and it exceeded our high expectations.
We went on a perfect early summer weekday. It was a little busy and allow a lot of time to get through the process of ticketing and getting up the mountain. We bought our tickets online, but there was still a long wait to sign waivers and get on board a gondola.
Once up top, you are greeted by amazing views everywhere you look. Alpine Coaster is the main draw and the lines were long. Your experience on the coaster will depend on who is going down the hill in front of you. If you like speed and adrenaline, you’ll probably come up on someone going slow.
The other long wait for us was the giant canyon swing, but totally worth it. Ride it twice, one trip on each side as they both offer completely different experiences.
The food and drink was great, with a restaurant kind of hidden behind the gift shop that offers great views while you eat.
One thing that stood out was how friendly and eager the park staff were towards the guests. It really made for a delightful experience.
We hope to come back someday, because the park must have a different look and feel as the seasons change and it would be nice to experience more!

This park was a great deal of fun even in winter. The two cave tours were very interesting and had great guides each time with cheesy jokes that made it fun. The gondola ride to the top was smooth and without incident. The Alpine Coaster was very fun and rather fast. Great little restaurant and gift shop. Laser tag was also very fun. Altogether the staff was very friendly and helpful and made time spent enjoyable. Greatly encourage a visit for singles, couples, group events and couples with kids over ten (height restrictions limit some of the rides and the cave tours might get a bit overwhelming for younger children).

This place is a ton of fun. It starts with a gondola ride up a mountain to the park. From there you can venture to the caves which is a neat experience. Get the funnel cake fries with apples and ice cream. Super yum! There is the Alpine coaster which my 3 year old loved. We went the week before Christmas. I do not recommend this as 80% of the attractions are closed. Although this does mean you have a very small crowd so there is not much of a line for what little is open. We will come back during summer to check everything out.
Steven Cody — Google review
It was about $300 for a family of 8, it was super fun! I recommend going on a week day because the weekends would be more crowded. We didn’t stand in line for more than 15 minuets for rides. Make sure to go with kiddos that are 6+ years old or it’s not as fun. The food is reasonably priced and the ride up is super fun! We saw the caves and that was super cool too, tour guide Shae was awesome! Make sure to check out the mountain side swing ride with Thomas because he’s a great instructor for your first crazy ride! Overall a 10/10 experience!

This place is amazing. What else can you ask for?? Roller coasters on a mountain?! Dope. Would be nice if they had vegetarian/vegan options and a couple rides were closed. Otherwise, I can’t wait to come back here with my whole family. Caves were great, the coaster is SO FUN, and the tree swing is my favorite ride ever.

Always a crowd-pleaser--visited with an extended family group with ages ranging from 2-70. Everyone had a great time with lots of options for the elementary-aged kids, the grandparents, and more challenging attractions for the group in their 20's. After our gondola ride up, we all enjoyed several trips on the Alpine Coaster--always a thrill! The 20's -30's group set off for a previously scheduled "Wild Tour" while the over 60+ group stayed with the kids. We alternated between the 2 caves tours--always informative & engaging as they are led by guides who truly love what they do--and a multitude of age-appropriate attractions for the kids, including laser tag, fossil digging, both smaller roller coasters, a small Ferris wheel and pictures with the trolls after a troll hunt. It was so nice to be able to say "yes" to everything the kids wanted to do with a Fun Day pass. After we reunited with the Wild Tour group, we had plenty of time to explore the Canyon Swing, Defiance, Crystal Tower and the Tree Swings together. The staff is always attentive and friendly and the park is just the right size to explore fully in a day. Even the rest stops in the central plaza were pleasant with live music, convenient restrooms, water bottle refill stations and sunblock. Highly recommended that you spend a day here. You won't regret it!

We have vacationed in different parts of Colorado a few times over the years, but this was far and away my favorite thing that we have done while there. Such a neat experience. The rollercoasters were fun, the restaurant was great, the cave tours were a relaxing way to get out of the heat for a little while, and the staff were all so friendly. We did go during the week so that may play into it a little bit, but the waits were not bad at all, the most that we had to wait was for the mountain coaster and even that was only around 20 minutes. Even just the gondola ride up to the top is a fun experience. We will definitely be back.

This place was amazing! Both adults and kids loved it. We spent most of the day here - lines got a little longer in afternoon, but nothing terrible. Cave tours were very interesting and neat to see. Highly recommend this place! Not many pictures as we had phones locked away in handy lockers available at park.
Kathy Chabot — Google review
I had a fantastic visit here! Buy tickets ahead of time - get there when they open (or before!) and ride the coaster and the zip line first, before the crowds arrive! The coaster isn't much fun when you're slowed down by all the people in front of you.
The proper roller coaster here - the cliffhanger - isn't much to shout about - it feels like it's about to fall apart any minute. I enjoyed more the swings, the giant swing, and the cave tours. The drop tower is definitely the most thrilling/scary - it all happens a lot faster than you would think. The weirdest thing about the park's rides in general is the overall lack of anything to hold on to to make you feel more secure. The zip line, the drop ride, overall - you have a lap belt and nothing more. I guess that adds to the thrills?
I really did enjoy the cave tours a lot - King's Row is smaller and on a holiday weekend or anytime it's extra busy, it's self guided. But if you show up early or on a less crowded day, you get a guided tour. The larger system, the Fairy Caves, is always a 40 minute guided tour and it was the highlight of the day - super fun.

This was even better than I imagined it would be! To be honest, I thought the price seemed a little steep for what I expected to find. We ended up loving it so much we went twice. The views are incredible, the caves are gorgeous and have great guides, and the rides are SO fun! A perfect day of fun for the family. Get there early before it heats up, the lines are shorter too!

We had a nice time at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. We just bought tickets to the caverns and Gondola. The caves are big and there are 2 different ones to go into. There are lots of rides up top. Definitely a fun time. You can add rides to your ticket if you decide to do it once you are up top.

Great little adventure park! A few big rides, some which really get adrenaline going.
The crystal cavern drop was intense. Their new coaster drops you straight down before whipping around with amazing views of Glenwood Springs below.
Stopped by the restaurant for a break and food. The staff was awesome.
Happened to see a fire on the way down. A little scary, but seemed to have been taken care of.
Grant Mellor — Google review
Came here during the week in Summer. Arrived around 2p, so many from the morning crowd was already gone. It was still plenty of time to ride all the rides.
After buying tickets at the bottom, you ride the gondola up to the main entrance. It's a small park, but there's a lot of fun rides for every age group or level of adventure. Lines weren't long at all, with most rides having no line at all. The longest wait was about 30 minutes for the Alpine Coaster which was my favorite ride. The coasters didn't have any lines. The Giant Swing was about 10 minutes and was my second favorite ride that was both exhilarating and had a great view. The tower drop didn't have a line. The Canyon Flyer was less than 5 minutes.
If you don't want to do rides, there's 2 cave tours as options as a different ticket than the Funday ticket.
Fun place for the family to enjoy some rides without long lines.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Fairy Cave tour, the tour guide made it an enjoyable experience, I think his name was Patrick.
The Alpine rollercoaster was super fun, much faster if you do it with 2 people! And the park overall was nice, many activities were closed due to winter but our group still had a blast. There were plenty of things to see, the Trolls, the big bear, the breathtaking views.
There were no lines for what was open due to it being winter and it being morning. I want to come again in the summer and expect lines at that time.

Fun Theme Park! Visited in August 2023 so the temps were pushing 90 during mid-day, but a Cavern tour was a great way to beat the heat. Stayed in Vail and drove 1 hour to Glenwood Springs but the drive thru the Canyon on the way was breathtaking.

Amazing! The caves were breathtaking, unbelievable and unique experience. We had the best tour guide! Forgot his name, but he made the cave tour so much fun!

We had such a good time! On vacation from Indiana and passed through Glenwood Springs. We decided to stop and stay there on a whim, so glad we did!
Caves were awesome, the rides were all thrill rides. Even just riding to the top to look around would be worth the money.
It is off season, so some rides were on an alternating schedule but we still made the best of it. Our kids are 7 & 9 and loved it. Would highly recommend! Also had military discounts for tickets.

We made 3 visits in two days. Love the ride up in the gondola. The Fairy Cave tour was interesting and educational. We also rode the Alpine Coaster each visit. Very fun and exciting. The Annual Pass is very much worth the cost if you can get in a couple of visits.

Glenwood Canyon Hiking Biking Trail offers a picturesque journey along the Colorado River, providing an opportunity to rent bikes and embark on a leisurely day trip. The trail features mostly flat, paved paths with occasional hills that add a touch of challenge to the ride.
Hanging Lake is a small and crystal-clear lake located at the top of Glenwood Canyon, accessible via a hiking trail. The lake is known for its stunning bridal veil waterfalls and unique suspension appearance due to mossy stones that are all under water. The hike up to Hanging Lake is mostly an incline, but it offers breathtaking scenic views along the way. Visitors can take a bus up to the trailhead and enjoy viewing areas with benches upon arrival.

Pictures don't do it justice! Must see in person! If you are hiking in Winter, mini spikes and poles would probably be highly recommend. Be sure to take the small trail up to the left to see the spouting rock and waterfall. You can walk around behind the falls. The lake and falls are beautiful and the views down the canyon are worth the hike!

Amazing hike but a challenging one if you are not an every day hiker or from the Midwest like myself. Definitely take more water than you think, wear adequate hiking shoes and take your time and multiple breaks. Worth the hike to see the views and waterfalls.

We took a ski break day and decide to check out Hanging Lake. We were advised by the ranger to have micro spikes on our hiking shoes which was really good advice. The hike was short but steep so it was huffing and puffing on the ascent but scenery was beautiful and covered in thick snow despite really warm winter weather. The only tricky section was right on top, where there was railings, esp on the way down. Definitely check out the waterfall (short 200 yards trail on the left of the lake). An online permit is needed - $10/per person.

Hanging Lake is one of the most iconic places to visit in Colorado. The hike can be a bit strenuous especially if you are not used to the altitude, but it's not terrible. Just give yourself plenty of time as there are some steep areas up the hill. The lake itself is beautiful. There are wonderful views from every angle and the pictures here will last you a lifetime! Just make sure you take the time to go a little further up to Spouting Rock which is what feeds Hanging Lake and it is also a beautiful waterfall to see. I highly recommend going to see Hanging Lake at different times of the year as it completely changes with the seasons and I love it in the winter as well. Make sure you get the permit and make a day out of this beautiful Colorado gem!

The hike up to the lake was brutal but it was all worth it. The lake itself at the top was breath- taking and out of this world. The waterfall behind the lake was spectacular! I highly recommend it when you visit Glenwood Springs.

I recently had the opportunity to hike to Hanging Lake, and I must say it's one of the most amazing hikes in Colorado! The trail is moderate with a 1000ft elevation gain over just 1.2 miles, making it accessible for most hikers.
One of the highlights of this hike is the stunning waterfalls that you encounter along the way. The sound of rushing water and the beauty of these falls will keep your eyes busy and provide the perfect backdrop for your journey.
One thing to keep in mind is that you'll need a reservation for this hike, which costs $12. This reservation system helps preserve the natural beauty of the area and ensures that it's not overcrowded.
The real gem at the end of the trail is, of course, Hanging Lake itself. Its crystal-clear waters and unique geological formations make it a sight to behold. But don't stop there! After Hanging Lake, there's a quick 5-minute hike to another waterfall, and trust me, it's absolutely worth visiting. The entire experience is a nature lover's dream.
Overall, if you're in Colorado and looking for a memorable outdoor adventure, make sure to put Hanging Lake on your list. It's a hike that combines natural beauty, a bit of a challenge, and the reward of discovering these magnificent waterfalls.

A hard hike but it is super cool nevertheless. The lake/waterfall is crystal clear and definitely is a must pick for your "life todo list". The only setback is that the hike is quite difficult. It's steep with many rocks so be careful! I would say it's not for inexperienced hikers.

This hike was part of my birthday trip and it was amazing! Lots of places along the hike to take breaks as needed and so worth it once you reach the top. My 6 year old hiked it no issues and my husband wore my 18lb 6 month old to accompany us on the hike. It was wonderful and so beautiful. We saw Bluejays and fish and the views are stunning. Go up another 200 yards to spouting rock where you can get behind the waterfall! Definitely an item to add to your bucket list.

An excellent place for a moderately challenging hike, with a 1000-foot elevation gain. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to ascend and 1 hour to descend. This trail is suitable for young kids too. It offers a beautiful path, and the hike's climax is truly impressive. Always stay in the track. It's definitely worth the visit. Remember to make a prior appointment and purchase a ticket. Hiking shoes & pole and enough water and snack bar are recommended.

A MUST SEE! This was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen and well worth the difficult hike. Make sure you’re prepared with correct footwear that will support climbing up rocks and uneven paths. Make sure you get a permit in order to enter the Trail. They do check your permit in the parking lot and then there is another person at the beginning of the trail now the trail is very steep in some parts and part of it. You’re just basically walking on big rocks that they try to make it to stairs. Our family did bring some oxygen which did help since we were not used to the altitude. There are seven bridges that you cross once you get to the top it is a magnificent view one like you’ve never seen. After you take in Hanging Lake walk up to the waterfalls where you can go behind a big waterfall. It was very heavy because of all the snow melt when we were there in June if you have hiking poles, definitely bring them as they will help you going back down the trail. Use the restroom before you get on the trail near the parking lot.

You’ll need a permit/reservation for this hike. Reserve on the website and it’s $12/pp. It’s more convenient to get there if you’re heading East so just be mindful that there isn’t an exit for it going west. Once you exit, it’ll take you directly to the entrance where they check for your reservation. The reservation was for 3 hours which is more than enough time to do the hike and enjoy everything between the trailhead and hanging lake. The hike is 1.2 miles one way with 1000 feet of elevation gain. Bring plenty of water, especially if you’re doing it during the summer. Definitely wear a hat and sunscreen. Trail is mostly covered but lots of spots where it’s not and it was HOT! We saw Hanging Lake first then hiked up another 200 yards to see the big waterfall! It’s amazing, and a definite must! Photos can’t capture the beauty in its entirety.

One of the best hikes in Colorado! Moderate to hard in difficulty, but nothing really technical. Just a LOT of elevation increase in a short amount of time. Taking it slowly, you can expect to reach Hanging Lake in about 1.5-2 hours, depending on how many stops you take. Be sure to go the extra 200 yards up to Spouting Rock for close-up waterfall pictures.

Absolutely breathtaking! The hike is steep and rocky, but it's beautiful the entire way up. Seeing it in person is a must and so worth the trip! If you hike up a bit further, there's a waterfall called Sprouting Rock it is gorgeous! Also there is no admission at the trailhead you must make a reservation online, print the permit, and bring it along. I recommend bringing a backpack with ample water and snacks. There are a couple benches on the way up to stop and rest they come in handy!

Was really to hard the hike not sure if it was worth it make sure to bring lot's of water I'm telling you its brutal. Howeverd the hanging lake is gorges the spouting rock is extremely cool!

Taylor Miland — Google review
We took a ski break day and decide to check out Hanging Lake. We were advised by the ranger to have micro spikes on our hiking shoes which was really good advice. The hike was short but steep so it was huffing and puffing on the ascent but scenery was beautiful and covered in thick snow despite really warm winter weather. The only tricky section was right on top, where there was railings, esp on the way down. Definitely check out the waterfall (short 200 yards trail on the left of the lake). An online permit is needed - $10/per person.

Took the bus up and hiked to the top. Pretty simple hike. Basically all incline. Beautiful at the stop, photos are from September 2019.

Reinelle Abrazado — Google review
One of the best hikes in Colorado! Moderate to hard in difficulty, but nothing really technical. Just a LOT of elevation increase in a short amount of time. Taking it slowly, you can expect to reach Hanging Lake in about 1.5-2 hours, depending on how many stops you take. Be sure to go the extra 200 yards up to Spouting Rock for close-up waterfall pictures.

Absolutely gorgeous!!! Pictures can’t do this place justice. The hike is fairly easy and the view is very rewarding. I would highly recommend checking out Hanging Lake. It is absolutely stunning and there’s a waterfall that you can walk underneath.

Rifle Falls State Park, located near Glenwood Springs, is a picturesque park boasting stunning waterfalls, limestone caves and an abundance of wildlife. With several hiking trails and picnic areas available, visitors can enjoy the park's natural beauty while exploring the diverse flora and fauna that call it home. The triple waterfall is a must-see attraction within the park, along with its small yet fascinating limestone caves which add to its unique charm.
This is an awesome state park. It can be very sketchy if it is icy. Very, very sketch. But, it is beautiful. The Limestone Caves are very neat to explore. Lots of trout swimming around. Just pure beauty... and make sure to drive up the creek into the Gorge. It is better than some national parks!!

This place is awesome, the views from below, behind and above the waterfalls are breathtaking. There are caves throughout the park some are easily accessible others are a bit challenging but doable. There's several trails and some have handrails when needed. On the top their is a gorgeous pond and other scenic adventures. Entry fee is $9 for day pass or they offer state park yearly fees. Would highly recommend this place.
Lorenzo R. C — Google review
The Falls are pretty neat to go visit. I recommend going early, before 10 am, if you want a parking space at the bottom side. There is only room for 32 cars and it's very busy over the weekend. There is a little space to park up above next to the Fish Hatchery, but it's also very limited and it's a decent walk from there to the top of the falls. It will also cost $10 for the state park pass but it's good for any Colorado state park until noon the next day. That's if you don't already have a pass or the special license plate tags.
Katie Elisa — Google review
Definitely worth the price of admission. The falls are beautiful and the caves there are equally interesting. The trails are easy, not too long. Some sections have stairs. Scenic around the falls and caves.

We have been taking the kids here for well over a decade and always have a wonderful!!! They have multiple trails and all are fairly easy to trek with the chillins throughout the whole park. We have definitely had the opportunity to camp in a trailer as well as a tent. This place accommodates both very well. Very gorgeous views the whole hike through. Also we like to hit the fish hatchery and the ice caves when we do come out this way

Great price at $10 for a day pass for entire carload of people. Easy hiking trails for all Abilities of hikers young & old, main part of trail in front of waterfall easily wheelchair accessible, not much past that first big trail though. Caves were great for the kids to crawl through and many brought their 4 legged friends also. Overall the beauty was well worth it and wasn't too over crowded on a weekday around 11am.

Small but beautiful park.
The falls: No hiking required to view. Parking area right by the falls. There are several different viewpoints from the above, behind and below if you hike the short trail.
The caves: Several small caves you can go in and one large one that goes about 90ft in. Went in at dark with flashlights. Neat experience.
The campground: Very small and at the park entrance, so every visitor to the park will be driving through the campground to view the falls. As you are entering the park, the campsites on the right side have a small river behind them.
Wildlife: Saw turkeys and mule deer
Other things to know: 2 restrooms, no showers, free wifi access.

One of the best camping trips and it was so beautiful. Rangers and attendants were very helpful. The tent site 014 was the best one in my opinion not to far from parking lot surrounded by nature. Hiking trails were not very difficult , short and beautiful. Nice caves to explore and the trail above the waterfall was spectacular. Loved this place... Definitely want to come again and again.

This was a beautiful little gem we found in this quaint town of Rifle. We paid the 9-dollar day use fee and took the small hike to the 3 beautiful waterfalls. These waterfalls flow into a cute little fairy tale type brook. The 3 waterfalls, by themselves, make you feel as if you've been transported to Hawaii for a minute. You can easily climb/hike up behind the waterfalls to explore some small limestone caves that look pretty cool. If you continue on the coyote trail, which is up and behind the falls, you will see a little fishing pond. You can also get a fantastic aerial shot at the top of the falls. There are picnic tables around so you can bring a lunch and enjoy a nice picnic.

Rifle Falls are such a beautiful triple waterfall that exceeded our expectations. The trail takes the hiker up to the falls then around to the top and back down to the other side. There are some really cool rock formations as well as caves along the trail. There view of the falls from each point is spectacular!

This was a wonderful surprise to find outside if Rifle.
The loop walk takes you past small caves, and up to the top of the waterfalls where they have several platforms to view the gals from the top. Once you come back down there are also multiple viewing areas with great photo opportunities. The mist coming off the falls was so refreshing on a hot day.
The park is clean with multiple picnic tables and overnight camping spots

An absolutely beautiful park! Plenty of hiking trails to pick from. Not to mention the waterfalls, caves, and camping sites. Definitely a must see! And wow, the river below the falls is crystal clear....
Jeremy Upton — Google review
Great short hike for the family. Not difficult at all. The caves were so cool. I wish I would have had a better flash light than the one on my phone. So we could have explored them a little better.
The falls were really cool even late into July early August, running strong. We hiked up to the top of them to the look outs.
At the top there are some ponds and I believe there is some fishing there.

We enjoyed our time at Rifle Falls state park. We hiked a couple of the trails and stood in the mist of the waterfall on a hot day. Between the sound of the water and the birds, we found the park to be tranquil. We traveled from AZ and camped somewhat close to the park at Elk Creek campground. There was limited parking, but thankfully we were able to find a spot in the last lot. There is camping available within the park, which we may try on our next trip up to the area. We're planning a return trip next year so that we can explore the park and surrounding areas more. The park has a small entrance fee - if I remember correctly it was around $10 which is well worth it if you have time to explore.

It's about 20 minutes north of the interstate, but well worth a stop if you're near Rifle, CO. We just stopped to visit the falls but they have some camping there as well. The falls were wonderful and depending on the time of day you go they cast a great rainbow. There are pit toilets for restrooms. You do have to pay a entrance fee.

Made the drive to see this beauty during our stay from Omaha to Glenwood Springs. First time seeing a waterfall .. it was surreal. Mother nature is amazing.

I had a few spare hours while in Rifle and decided to visit the falls. It was well worth the visit.
Hit up the Coyote trail for the best views of the falls. Around the base things will be crowded, but at the top and the vantage points on the way down aren't, and give you a great view of the falls.
The park itself was clean and well used. Staff were very helpful, but parking may be an issue.

Beaver Creek Resort is a sizable ski destination offering multiple mountains, three terrain parks, lodging accommodations, cross-country trails, and various events. The resort boasts exceptional infrastructure with convenient parking and shuttle services, lift ticket windows, comfortable seating areas with fireplaces. Visitors appreciate the helpful and friendly staff who provide information and directions both in the village and on the mountain.
We skied in mid Jan 2022. This resort has a very unique feature. Some of green runs are in top of mountain, which is rare case. It is family oriented resort. The variety of terrain is wide, from beginners to expert level. Ski shuttle service is prompt. One thing to keep in mind is the route of the ski bus is one way loop. Restaurants in the village are excellent or good. And also dinings around Avon are good too.

Super family-oriented. Great mountain with terrain for all skill levels.
McCoy park is a beginner bowl area with some of the best views I’ve ever seen. Normally beginners are stuck at the bottom of the mountain. Not here.
Ice cream parlors and candy cabins at the top of ski lifts. Employees are all super friendly and always happy to help.
The village is cute with lots of shops restaurants and an ice rink in the middle.
All in all beaver creek is my favorite resort. Keep up the incredible work.

So many reasons to give Beaver Creek 5 stars:
Outstanding resort infrastructure - parking & shuttles, lift ticket windows, benches, comfortable chairs & fireplaces
Friendly staff offering information & directions, in the village and on the mountain
Great lifts plus a gondola, extremely conscientious lift operators.
Phenomenal trails, terrain, variety and conditions.
Every afternoon at 3 PM - delicious chocolate chip cookies, fresh out of the oven

RIP OFF! It's a nice place to ski/snowboard. Not much different than Vail,Winter park, etc. They rip you off for the lift tickets. Before our trip, I looked up prices for lift tickets. Their website said a single day adult lift ticket was around $137. A couple of weeks later, we arrive to buy lift tickets (travel from out of state), and the price doubled to around $260 per person! The website didn't say anything about doubling the price for any reason. What they did should be illegal. Bait and switch. SCAM! Then they want all your personal information just to buy a lift ticket. Why?! Do they sell your info? No disclaimer on what they do with your info.

This is a world class ski resort that is less crowded and easier to navigate than it's sister resort Vail. There is a good variety of terrain and all high speed lifts to get up and around the mountains. Each area is more or less self contained and it's pretty easy to get from one mountain to another. The employees are nice and helpful. On mountain dining was fairly expensive, but the food was very good. Buy your Epic Pass early to save money.

Great mountain for beginners. They have 3 separate beginner areas (Haymeadow, Red Buffalo Park, and McCoy Park). McCoy is AWESOME, it's a bowl with lots of varied terrain and you can really make each run your own -even as a beginner).
And of course, the village is super cute (though overpriced).

One of my favorite mountains!!! If you stay until the end of the day they bring out trays of chocolate chips cookies to give away. It’s east to get around on this mountain for snowboarders with not too many cat tracks you need to skate on. I always think this mountain doesn’t get as crowded as Vail and Breck. Nice village center with a lot of shops. Caught some fresh snow great day! They have free parking with shuttle buses but I think it’s worth it to park at Ford Hall Garage. It’s so close to the Centennial Express lift.

I ❤️ my experience in Beaver Creek.
This was my first time skiing ⛷️ there.
I found parking was easy and their free shuttle to the village was quick, efficient, and easy. It drops you off right in front of the covered bridge. And it's a 3-minute walk to the escalators that take you to the lifts.
I found Beaver Creek easy to navigate and the escalators magnificent to take you up and down from the base of the mountain.

Beaver Creek wants to pretend like they're this amazing, supportive family destination. We've been coming here every year for almost a decade, and it gets worse and worse every single year.
BC - especially early season - does not really care about families. In fact, I think the most straightforward way to put it is to say that all BC cares about is money. When you show up as an adult, the assumption is that you have money that they can squeeze out of you. When you show up with kids, they assume that means they'll get even more money. Example: BC has a 'beginner' lift pass that only works in the bunny slope area. It used to be $30 a day, which is pretty reasonable. It's now climbed up to $52/day, for no reason at all. Also, other resorts will allow use of carpet lifts for free, but BC wants a lift pass to use them. Gotta pay money to learn to ski/board! If you want to get your kids lessons, you're looking at some of the most expensive rates in the country. Crazy idea: kids ski lessons should be dirt cheap because if you get children into the hobby, they grow up to be people who will spend money doing it. My kids missed out getting lessons because we didn't want to drop $450/day on it. Will they grow up to be adults who like to ski? Who knows...
Additionally, you need to know that at Beaver Creek, you are not a priority to them unless it's financially beneficial for them. Early season skiers and boarders are an afterthought when Birds of Prey race is looming... what? Your kids want beginner terrain? Too bad, we need to groom that race course!
The workers here are superstars. They all have incredible attitudes and are as helpful as can be, given the employer. BC doesn't seem to treat them very well but whenever we needed help the rank and file were happy to help us out.
As far as the terrain and mountain conditions, this is a fantastic resort. There's something for everyone here, the lift lines are usually very reasonable on any given day, and there's a lot of mountain to explore. Plenty of side hits, features, glades, moguls, etc. It's a great setup. The "Chondola" (chair lift with a gondola every 6th spot) is a fantastic feature for people who don't like sitting exposed to the weather for 5+ minute climbs up the mountain or for kids. The snow here is luxurious most of the time, except very early season when it tends to be sparse (mostly because they refuse to open up anything until after Birds of Prey race). And the ski patrol/safety patrol are generally pretty nice and helpful.

First time here was right after 10" fresh snow. First run was Peregrine (in video) and no one had touched it yet. It was like bouncing on pillows the whole way down. Best run of my life. I immediately quit snowboarding after that because nothing could beat that. Also I didn't really care about the cookies until a literal chef just handed me one as I was walking back exhausted from the day.

The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, Colorado is a botanical garden with a wide variety of flowers and plants. The gardens attract more than 100,000 visitors each year and are heavily influenced by President Gerald Ford and his wife, Betty. The Education Center at the garden attracts more than 5,000 students each year for tours and other educational events.
Wowed by this place! Sept 1st visit and you could see that many of the flowers were getting to the end of their blooming season but still so beautiful. We spent a good hour just walking around and taking it in. Amazed at all the plants from all over the world.

It seems like a small garden at first but it is anything but. The trails keep winding around. Maybe all the plants aren't labeled but the thematic Alpine gardens were beautiful. There were additional features like water falls. The gift shop had an awesome assortment of yard art. We spent way too much! Highly recommend.

Betty Ford Alpine Garden and Ford Park is within walking distance from Vail Village. One can take shuttle from Vail Village or follow a trail along Gore Creek for about 10-15 minute walk. The trail is running behind several condos, hotels and offering chance to see some wildlives of several birds, plants. Around end of October, most of plants are entering dormant.

Beautiful flowers and exotic plants are immersed in a native mountain environment. The gardens are extremely well-maintained. The entire experience is amazing and refreshing.
You can park at the Vail Garage for free. The walk to the park in itself is gorgeous and only takes ten minutes. You can also park at the gardens very easily unless there a big event going on.
There is a large kid's playground, a perfectly manicured grass field, and the gorgeous Eagle River right next to the gardens. They'd even a bathroom and tables to rest at and enjoy. Top it off with a neat little gift shop and an amphitheater to compete this gem! Really a must visit when in Vail or even driving by I70!

Absolutely gorgeous botanical garden! There is no admission fee. They do have a recommended donation of $20 per person, which seems steep (for comparison, my own hometown's world-class botanical garden is $14 for general admission, and is at least 30x as big as this garden; we also visited Denver Botanic Gardens on our vacation, and spent $15 per adult, for an area about 15x as large).
I liked how it was arranged with different sections dedicated to different regions or specific subcategories of alpine regions. Including a stop at the playground and in the education center, we spent about 45 minutes here.

We had an absolutely stellar time this past Saturday. The guides were incredible (wish I could remember their names). They explained everything so well and we always felt safe and well taken care of. Every line was so much fun and the views were gorgeous.
It was also really nice to have a winery right next door where we could enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.
I definitely recommend checking them out if you’re in the area.

Had an incredible time with Jimmy and Weston at Zip Adventures. Reef took some incredible pictures for our entire family to enjoy as well. The staff was well trained, had great senses of humor, took their time with each person in our group, and really made it an unforgettable adventure. Drinks and snacks were a great touch as well. The views on the zip lines are amazing, and the free fall bungee drop was an added thrill adventure we all enjoyed. This really is a not-to-be-missed activity when in the area!

We had an amazing time! We were so nervous and the entire team made us feel very comfortable. Our tour guides Matt and Jimmy were sooo much fun! They made the entire experience unforgettable. Highly recommend it for groups. They also have a family own winery that was the cherry on top of our group activity. Incredible service.

While I am sure the zip lining is great, I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. While I do not doubt that the weather was fine at 4pm in Wolcot, the company has failed to understand repeatedly that the hail & rain in between our location and the site made it impossible for us to get there by 3:30. We were very excited for the experience, but were not willing to risk our safety to get there. Please see video below for reference.

We had an amazing tine. The Guides are knowledgeable and fun. What an amazing family experience for us. I also have a fear of heights. The guides cheered us along the whole way and made me comfortable enough to overcome my fears, and so loved every second of it. Highly recommended and we had young kids; 10,8. They had a blast!

Zip adventures is one of the coolest things you can experience in the valley! With the zip lines soaring over a big canyon and creek, you don’t want to miss it! The tour gets better and better as it goes on! Must go to attraction!! Thanks for the wonderful tours and the staff is TOP NOTCH! Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Have been coming back for years!! Thanks Zip Adventures!

Parents and teen did first ever zip lining coming from a flatland/prairie area of Tx and had a phenomenal experience. I am absolutely, genuinely terrified of heights and the best thing they said was that I would never experience the stomach drop sensation along the regular lines, and they were correct. I went in tandem to get my courage up the first two lines. Jimmy from NY and Nick from Chicago were the guides, and unlike many adventure experiences in mountain towns we have tried where you have to wonder how trained and experienced the guides were, they were extremely competent and professional, taking all safety measures very seriously and repeating them often. As a bonus, they were also friendly, funny and made the experience wholly enjoyable. I did not catch the name of the woman running the reservations and sign-in/store, but she was also incredibly helpful, patient and encouraging of any questions or concerns. Could not recommend this excursion, company or team more highly.

Best excursion around! Every part of this adventure was exactly what we didn’t know we needed on our girls outing. To top it off we were blown away by such genuinely good people providing an exceptional experience from start to finish. We had the best time with Zip Adventures. Don’t think about it.. book it! You won’t regret it.
Thanks Zip Adventures team! We’ll be back!

Super fun! Zip Adventures was excellent throughout the entire process of booking to our zip lining adventure with Chris and Austin. They were great guides and added to the fun. There are 6 zip lines and a cliff jump (that was optional) through a canyon. Highly recommended!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE - Even for little ones!
I brought my two little ones (ages 3 and 4) and they were scared at first, but Mattie at the front desk was so sweet, and the guides did an amazing job of making them feel comfortable, and by the time they made it across the first zip line they couldn't wait to do it again and again! By the third zip line they were both going hands-free! Our guides, James and Nick, were INCREDIBLE. They were accommodating to our young ones in a sincere customer-oriented way, and kept us laughing the whole time. They truly went above and beyond and made it a memorable experience. The kids have asked at least two dozen times to come again! We will be back! :)

My son and I had an amazing time. Our guides Corey & Chris were amazing. I would highly recommend if you are around Wolcott, CO (close to Vail). I wish I would have found them sooner.
Paul (owner/guide) and Tim (guide) were great! they took my wife and I out plus our two friends. we had a great time and they are both very knowledgeable. if you are looking for a fly fishing guide in their area I would highly recommend you give them a call. Thanks Paul and Tim!

Hope you guys go out of business so someone else who will pay their employees a living wage can replace you. Nice try suing the government, though! Classy stuff.
Our family of 4 (includes an 8 & 9 yr old) took the 2 hour trail ride and loved it! Our guide was Shade, he was very personable, knowledgeable, helpful and looked out for us the whole ride. Beautiful scenery, very majestic and peaceful. We would recommend Rusty Spurr to everyone and will certainly visit them again next time we’re in Colorado. One thing to plan for is leave enough time to get to the ranch, once you turn off the main road to the ranch, it’s still another 15-20 min ride.

We had an amazing time! We did an hour long ride with Shane. My boyfriend rode Crab man and I rode Maverick. The ranch was beautiful as were the horses. Our hostess Paula was super welcoming and kind. We ended up with a private ride due to another person not showing up. The scenery is amazing and Shane had some great stories to tell. He also snapped some photos for us. It was a well priced overall great experience thank you!

The Rusty Spurr Ranch has been THE BEST place for me to ride for over 20 years. The horses are amazing! They are treated by the owners like family members and cared for with love. The wranglers are exceptional individuals who really care that you are having a wonder experience. The views from the trail rides or the Cattledrives are simply amazing. Wildlife can be spotted from time to time from prong horn antelope to golden eagles.
Definitely a place to experience. You will have a wonderful time and meet wonderful new people. The owners Han, Connie and their son Wyatt Smith are wonderful, knowledgeable and exceptional people that will definitely leave you with the best impression. Go and enjoy this beautiful ranch!

The rusty spurr ranch exceeded expectations. We had a stay planned in Estes Park, it was canceled last minute and we had to cancel all of our activities. We were able to locate stay up in Granby and while searching for ranches to do trail rides, the rusty spurr was the only one we called who was willing to accommodate us and even pulled a horse for my young daughter who recently had a birthday so she could ride. That level of customer service and caring is something you can’t put a price on. My daughters face and the joy she had knowing she was going to get to ride meant the world to us. This isn’t a boring follow the Leader type ride, you ride side-by-side, through multiple levels and terrains, it is like a real ride. We have been on multiple rides throughout Colorado and this was easily the best and our favorite. We will be back and cannot stress how great of an experience we had. Our guide shade was awesome, very knowledgeable show us a bunch of areas and explain stories to us, took bunch of pictures for us. If you were in the area, this is the place you want to go to and this is the ride you want to go on. Trust me.

I have been on many rides in Colorado throughout my life and this was the best, without question. The views were breathtaking, the staff was extremely friendly and fun, and the horses were healthy and well-trained for any level of rider. Unlike many other stables, this is not a strict a nose to tail ride and you have the flexibility to take different paths and breakaway from the group with your horse. This kept the ride exciting, creative, and engaging.

My daughter and I went on the cattle drive. Hon was an incredible guide and his rapport with his animals is magical to watch. He truly is the real deal. The horses were well trained, well cared for, in great shape, and a pleasure to ride. Definitely not your typical trail horse! These are true ranch horses for sure. They knew their job, were responsive, moved off the leg easily, and were strong and sure footed. The scenery was breathtaking. This is our first trip to Colorado and we were unprepared for the beauty! Our job on this trip was to gather scattered small groups of cattle, form one large herd (about 75 head by the time we got them all together), take them to water, then move them to new grazing ground. This all happened within one pasture, but Hon explained the importance of moving them around so the land gets grazed evenly and it made complete sense.
Hon was very good at telling us how to ride / work with each horse and gave clear instructions as to how to move the cattle and what the end goal was. Watching the dog work was almost as much fun as driving the cattle ourselves! We were in the saddle for the full 4 hours and covered a lot of ground. My daughter (13) commented that she really felt part of a team as each person played an important role in getting the job done.
I would do this ride again in a heartbeat! You will not regret it (but be prepared to be a bit stiff when you dismount if you don't ride regularly. LOL)

Been at Rusty Spurr the last 2 years doing trail rides, this year I decided to do a 4 hour cattle drive, Great decision!! I had Han and Bailey as guides, both were professional and very passionate about the horses and the land. The scenery was breathtaking. As a beginner I felt comfortable and safe. I would recommend Rusty Spurr to anyone.

Wow! This two hour ride left everyone in my family saying “please mom can we go back and please can I have that horse again?” Connie was an amazing guide and host. She made sure everyone was super comfortable in their saddle and guiding their horse. The horses were amazing. My 13 year old wanted to make her own way. My 8 year old was happy to follow along. Connie made everyone feel comfortable no matter their ability or comfort level. Please book this trip. You will not regret!

If you are ever in the area, this should be on your list of things to do! We went on a 2 hours horseback ride with our family of 5. Holly was our guide and she was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, professional, and fun! The views once you get to the top are picturesque, and breathtaking. Holly gave us plenty of time to take pictures and soak up the view. It's so peaceful and quiet atop if the mountain we climbed with the horses. They recommend bringing pants and bug spray for good reason! The bugs eat you up pretty quick. The sun hits a little different up there as well so definitely recommended sunscreen! Definitely recommended this to anyone! We will be back!

This is not your nose-to-tail boring horseback ride. I return every year to Rusty Spurr Ranch for a number of reasons. The owners of Rusty Spurr own all of the rental horses and take great, loving care of their equine. It is a beautiful, open range ride. In June the flowers are on beautiful display. The views and vistas are spectacular and the guides are always a lot of fun and educational. By far the best ranch in the region to ride for an epic experience. I'm looking forward to the 3-hour ride and the cattle drive.

We had an absolutely amazing time on the 2 hour ride with Butch and Sassy. Definitely not your average trail riding business. You get the freedom to ride as you please. No awful robotic nose to tail ride. The horses here are a joy to ride and aren’t afraid to show their unique personalities, something that is rare in a trail riding business. And the owners pair you up perfectly with the right horse for you! When arriving to the facility, we were greeted with a huge smile and welcomed by a couple of their adorable dogs. They helped us mount and off we went! Our ranger was super friendly and gave us our freedom to ride where we please while also keeping safety in mind at all times. Beautiful scenery with even more beautiful horses. This place is definitely a gem in Colorado and I would love to return one day.

We had the most amazing experience horse back riding at the Rusty Spurr Ranch. Bailey our guide was incredible and the scenery was so picturesque it looked fake and felt unreal. The best part of this company is they give you the freedom to ride the horses without being nose to butt in a straight line. The horse back riding experience levels were all over in our group, yet everyone had the best time! I highly highly recommend them! We can’t wait to come back.

Amazing experience at Rusty Spurr Ranch! The drive to the ranch was beautiful and easy with their directions, the employees were all friendly and welcoming, and the horses were incredible with the different experience levels of our group (from novice to experienced). The 2-hour tour is a must- we roamed over peaks and through aspen trees with such gorgeous views. Our guide Holly was so patient, kind and helpful in teaching us how to maneuver and guide the horses up and down the beautiful landscape. Truly an unforgettable experience! We can’t wait to return!

This could not have been a better experience! Everyone was super nice, and the horses were very well kept and very well mannered. Many places ask the questions to ascertain riding level but either don’t have enough horses to match everyone to a suitable horse or just aren’t good at it. The matches here were 100% on target. We had a wide variety of skill level in our group and they delivered the perfect experience for all. Very well done!!! The trail ride was beautiful, scenic, and mellow. The cattle drive was definitely more adventurous and completely worthwhile!

I cannot recommend this place enough!! We had the BEST time! The best part is that the ride is not a “nose to tail” ride, instead they teach you how to steer your horse and encourage you to spread out and find your own path!
We did a 2 hour private ride with a group of 12 and it was amaaaazing! The aspen groves are beautiful and the view from the top is awesome! All of the beauty without the work of hiking to the top.
We also bought the cowboy hats that they sold for $30 in their store, and it brought the photos to the next level!
Our guides were so kind and knowledgeable!! The horses were sweet and so so we’ll trained - those horses live the best life!
If you are going to go horseback riding in Colorado, your research is done - this is the best place you can go. 🤠

Above and beyond all my expectations. The entrance signage to the ranch is a bit hidden, so be highly alert for the entrance from the highway. The gravel road is very well maintained and takes you straight to the ranch. We where running a little behind and the staff called to make sure we weren't lost or needed anything. Everyone of the staff was supper friendly and helpful. The riding was so amazing, as we got to spread out and direct your horse in the direction you choose. Holly was our guide and treated us all so great. Checked on everyone several times to make sure we where all conformable.( I did ask her to adjust the stirrup 1/2 way into it.)
Got to take some amazing pictures and guide even offer to take us a couple. The wild flowers where great saw plenty of Columbines and wild roses. We did get rained on but our guide was productive on getting us all the rain jackets before it started to rain. And the rain just made the experience that much more magical. Did see a lot of mosquitos but did not get any bites.
We will definitely be back!!!

Travellers, mad adventures is a fantastic way to discover white water rafting. The scenery is amazing and it was a real head trip to be rafting on the Colorado river. Our family reunion had a fantastic time with this white water adventure. Out guide, Ashley, was fantastic for everyone in our raft — old to young. The views are spectacular and amazing. We saw eagles on our trip. Everyone had fun and wants to go again. Thank you, Ashley!!!

Fantastic crew and trip. I called asking which trip to choose with kids aged 10-13 and how they could accommodate wheelchair accessibility needs. Everyone I talked to was knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. Our guide Kass was a lot of fun and made the whole trip extra memorable. The whole team knew how to help my daughter with her wheelchair and make sure she was comfortable and safe throughout the whole trip.

My family of 6 ( 2 adults and 4 kids ages 16,15,12,11) really enjoyed our rafting trip with MAD Adventures on the Upper Colorado. Booking was super easy. Stephen was a great guide and made it a lot of fun. Pictures taken of our raft on the river were awesome. Special thank you to Cassie who caught my 12 year old son when he accidentally lost his footing during an opportunity to jump into the river. Everything was done safely and professionally. Definitely would do this again if we get the opportunity.

Steamboat Ski Resort is located in the Rocky Mountains in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The resort offers a wide variety of ski trails and powder skiing opportunities for all skill levels. In addition to skiing, the resort also features facilities for hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting and fishing.
This was our first time skiing out west and second time skiing overall. We found the ski school incredible beneficial and worth every cent. The staff was over the top helpful and the resort was well kept. The trails were only 25% open when we went (December 2020) due to lack of snow but that didn’t slow us down one bit. They had trails for miles with gorgeous views and fun routes down the mountain. The town of Steamboat was a lot of fun as well, with great dining, shopping, and you can’t miss the Strawberry Hot Springs! It’s a beautiful but long drive from Denver to get here, but we hope to be back someday!

Fantastic ski resort nestled way back in the Rocky Mountains. Always plenty of snow and lots to choose from regardless of whether you are a bunny, slope, beginner or double black, diamond skier, you will find it here. Plenty of air, B&Bs surrounding the resort and places to eat. If it’s lessons you want they have that as well. This was the first ski resort that I have ever been to, and loved it so much that we moved to Colorado and tried all the other resorts, but still came back to the boat.
Sean & Kristin Parsons — Google review
I was just here at the end of February and beginning of March and it was AWESOME! The snow was actually pretty nice and soft, the runs were nice and long and had an AMAZING view of the mountains, and the chairlift lines were actually not too long. The ski school instructors also all seemed very supportive and kind to their students.
Bentley Amundsen — Google review
If you are an experienced skier, this is the place to go! They have a great variety of intermediate and above runs. Not as big as other places like Copper, but still good.
If you are a beginner, know there is a limited amount of beginner runs and many are traverse style runs that are more narrow, road like than wide open green runs you can spread out on. That was my only disappointment for my kids. The beginner runs at steamboat didn't hold a candle to the wide open, long greens at so many other resorts where the kids can really work their turns across an entire run. The beginner lift area is again a relatively small, narrow set of runs. That said, the instructors are top notch, so even if you do come know the kids will have amazing instructors.
The only other downside I noticed when compared to other resorts is the lift signage. Very hard to tell what lift you are coming up to until you are pretty much in the lift line, unlike others where the name is prominent and large on the lift canopy.

We enjoyed the last "Happy Hour" gondola ride for the season to the top with live music. There is a nice easy hiking trail. Food and drinks available also.

Absolutely great mountain to ski/snowboard. It's one of the best in the country. There's a 3000 foot elevation change from the base of the ski resort to the peak. Try to avoid coming on a holiday weekend, because it was jam packed. There are lots of different places to take a break on the slopes, most of which have food and a bar (but very expensive). If you have the money, it's totally worth it. Also, if you plan to stay more than just a couple of days, getting the ikon pass might be worth your while.
Brian Goulet — Google review
Top ski resort. There are plenty of skiing options for all skill levels. There are hardly any wait lines at the lifts. Very friendly staff all over the mountain. Good ski resort dining options. Very expensive tickets at peak season, close to $300 a person.

Steamboat is the gold standard for US ski resorts. It has enough altitude and location to get great snow and has a massively developed resort to ensure there are hills for all levels of skiing. This is known as Ski Town USA for a reason. The hill is a short free bus ride from anywhere, there are plenty of hotels to choose from, and the vibe is incredible. If you have an Icon pass the this is a must. My favorite ski hill
Tom Hilbig — Google review
Great Ski Resort!! It felt like a private mountain. Not crowded on January. Family friendly and all the gondolas are almost brand new. Excellent facilities and lunch areas to hang out and eat. Many many routes to choose depending on your level.
Mariana Geraldine Vazquez Leyvas — Google review
Returned to Steamboat for the first time in about 25 years, and it was just as great this time as it was back then. This is an outstanding resort for intermediate / advanced level skiers as well as for skiers who love skiing in the trees. Steamboat is known for its amazing tree skiing, and it doesn't disappoint. This resort does lack in expert terrain, and the expert terrain it does have is kind of a pain to get to. You need to ride two lifts to access all of Steamboat's toughest runs, so keep that in mind if you're looking at this resort and want to primarily ski on expert terrain.
Anthony R — Google review
Steamboat provided a wonderful Colorado ski experience. It was busy when we were there but Steamboat excels at efficiently getting people on the gondola or chairlift and up the mountain. Some resorts don’t seem to train staff on this like Steamboat does. All of the workers were so nice and seemed happy to be there. It was also quick and efficient to check in your skis at the end of the day at the base so you don’t have to carry them with you back to your condo.
The overall “vibe” was fun and friendly both on the mountain and at the base. Plenty of areas to sit and warm up on the mountain, or take a seat by one of the outdoor fireplaces at the base.
The skiing was a good fit for everyone in our group from beginner to expert adult skiers.
The resort is situated in the adorable town of Steamboat Springs, which isn’t too large but does have all of the necessities.

Beautiful town, great mountain and a special shout out to every single employee we encountered. Very pleasant, helpful and just a delight.
Fantastic restaurants and bars.
The 4 stars (instead of 5) are due to the overcrowded lift lines and the HIGH cost of everything.
Travel tip: (wish we had known)
If you want to experience the Stawberry Hot Springs you need to make a reservation 1-2 MONTHS in advance.
Also I would recommend flying in on a Sat. Get some very cheap (and actually FREE on Sunday) practice runs in at the ski training mountain in Howelsen park
Then ski Steamboat on Mon, Tuesday when it's not so busy.

First-timer here at the boat. Lot's of mountain for all skill levels and some wide open spaces in case it gets crowded, you can still blaze your own path undisturbed. 3 hours from Denver with clear roads and no traffic. Well worth the drive.

This was my first time here at Steamboat. This mountain is a blast we had perfect weather for 3 days in a row. The trees 🎄 did not disappoint, we crushed them! I highly recommend this mountain! 👍 The town is cool 😎 too. Lastly, the airport is about a half hour.

Absolutely in love with this place, 23 lifts and more than 170 trails. Steamboat is so beautiful. I recommend to stop by the Info Center to get a maps. Do some research of what trails you want to ride before hopping on lifts.
There are two free parking lots (Meadow parking and upper Knoll parking). Knoll parking gets full really early especially during peak season. Meadow parking offers free shuttle from the parking to the ski resort. There are bus red line and blue line are available for people to travel from Meadow parking to the resort.

This ski resort is amazing, with fantastic views, amenities, and restaurants. The resort was within a 10 minute walk of the lodge we stayed at. The resort has plenty of gear rentals, and we did private lessons the first day since my sister and I had never skiied before. Our instructor Ella was so kind and gave us the confidence to work our way up to harder and longer slopes! By the third day we could do a 3 mile slope! There are gondolas and lifts, which is very nice. Your ski pass is also good for non-consecutive days, so if you need a day to rest over your trip you can. There are hot coco stations and fireplaces around the resort to recharge! There's also ice skating!

S/O to ODIN , the Strings lot/ overflow shuttle driver!!! He was purely delightful. First time at Steamboat! I am an IKON pass holder. Figured I’d check it out. Great mix of both groomed and deep powdery snow! Love the gondolas!!! And the fellas who load your gear!!! What an amazing experience. Will definitely try to use my 4 remaining allotted days. So happy I finally came to check it out!!
The park features a variety of plants and flowers from around the world, as well as a amphitheater for music performances in the summer. It is open to the public from dawn to dusk from May through October and is free of charge.
We spotted this somewhat hidden little gem while we were biking along the Yampa River a few years ago and put it on our to-do list for our next Steamboat visit. Well, today we crossed it off our list! It's such a beautiful and peaceful spot—great for adults AND kids. My friends and I spent a few hours wandering the park, checking out all the trees, plants, and flowers, and meeting the park's extremely friendly black cat.
Entry to the Yampa River Botanic Park is free, but I hope anyone reading this review will be sure to contribute some funds at the end of their visit. Contributions can be made in cash or credit card.

The Yampa River Botanic Park is a hidden gemstone in Steamboat. It's a great way to see wildlife and learn about Colorado's native plants. It takes about 60-90 minutes to see everything in the park and the best part is that it is free to enter. A minimal donation is recommended and there are secure vending machines throughout the park if you would like to pay with cash or card. The donations help with the upkeep of the park and keeping it accessible and beautiful. Highly recommend!

Best deal in town. We hit it a little past peak, but it was still quite impressive. I could see how it could be a quiet place of zen on a Sunday morning. It was larger than I expected, so it was unfortunate that we didn't have the time to spend to see it all. Plenty of parking, but a bit of a walk from there, and no restrooms that we saw. Although there are some located near the ball fields.

Entered this very beautiful botanical park from our walk off of the Yampa River Core Trail. Very whimsical place with wonderful flagstone paths, Peter's pond, whispering brooks, and metal statues. Enjoyed wandering through the different neighborhoods with native colorful flowers, cotton wood /aspen trees, and rock gardens. Benches located throughout park to sit, visit and admire the water lilies or Emerald mountain. They also have an Osprey Eagle nest observation area - during the summer you might see a family of these magnificient birds nesting their young. Will definitely revisit this relaxing park in the future.

We love hiking when we’re in Steamboat, and walking along the Yampa May not be a strenuous activity, but it certainly is relaxing to take in the sights. The Botanical garden is a must see; it’s free and quite breathtaking right off the river path. They have restrooms as well, which makes for a nice family spot to take a break.

What a hidden gem! It's a beautifully curated small botanic park right along the river. You can bike right up to the beautiful gates. Absolutely worth a visit if you are looking for a stroll in Steamboat Springs.

This was our first stop when arriving in Steamboat. It was perfect to stretch and walk after being in the car all morning. It's not as large as the map makes it seem, like you might not have time to walk it, but we did, easily. It was very serene! We enjoyed all the different scents of flowers, trees, and plants. I found a few interesting ones I would like to put in at home. Donations are needed to keep it going. Dogs aren't allowed so maybe bring a cat!

The scenery was absolutely gorgeous there was plenty of room for people to hangout and chill. The cards were very informative on the plant species and the water features were beautiful. You can definitely tell that people try and work very hard to keep a place so beautiful for the public. I recommend it wholeheartedly to everyone even if nature is not your thing.

This beautiful preserve is just off the highway, but feels like a place miles away from bustle and noise. Parking is a short distance from the park, but the path to the park is level and well maintained. Inside you’ll find winding paths, gorgeous flowers and trees, fountains, and sculptures. The park is free and maintained in part by volunteers. There is a donation box for those who would like to contribute to park upkeep.

I always make sure to stop by Yampa River Botanic park whenever I’m in Steamboat. This place is absolutely magical. The gardeners have done an amazing job curating this space. I would recommend at least 2-3 hours here. It’s a great place for a picnic and admission is free!

Ventured out to this beautiful garden today to watch Beth Blaskovich play piano. We walked around after and the gardens are so well kept. It’s a nice stroll of non stop birds, little animals, beautiful trees and flowers. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

What a gem in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs!! A lovely, peaceful walk around the gardens. Lots of different paths to choose from and benches to sit and take it all in❤️

I have visited Steamboat springs a number of times, but this was my first time visiting Botanic park. It helped that we visited when Colorado is blooming, whether in gardens or wildflowers. This place is delightful, well laid out. It invites you to visit the nooks and cranies, with a pleasant surprise hidden, more likely in plain view; but you just couldn't see it till you turn the corner. It has areas to spend time with family, benches with flowers and landscaped flower beds galore.

Absolutely Amazing. Beautiful summer day with live music. Apple Pie Order played a morning concert on the green. The Botanicals were fabulous and everyone was very kind and friendly. I uploaded a few photos, but I honestly took over hundred images.

Visiting late in the season, but still beautiful. Very well maintained. Many benches to sit and enjoy the beauty and peacefulness.
A hike to Fish Creek Falls in Steamboat Springs, Colorado offers stunning scenery and a variety of trails. The flow is at its most impressive during the spring thaw.
This is a beautiful waterfall with an easy paved trail to the overlook. There is also a short hike that will take you to the base—not paved but still pretty easy—just a bit of a climb on the way back but the path is smooth. Parking is $5 which is reasonable for the beautiful views. It was pretty and we enjoyed our visit! There is a longer hike if you’re prepared that is about 5 miles. It’s a bit icy in October. ☺️❄️

This place is amazing! Always has been a place to go growing up and now going back the fall is still beautiful. Very refreshing to feel the coolness of the water, putting your feet into the water below the bridge is a must. There are sweet little chipmunks around too. Very friendly. Nice hiking trails and bring something to drink too because it's warm.

Absolutely awesome! Our special needs Daughter loved to throw a stone or two in the river over the historic Bridge. Amazing views from both the top and bottom. It's ever so worth the short hike through the mountain view trails.

We took the trail to the uranium mine. It was an excellent choice. The trail is Rocky and steep in places, especially in the beginning, but levels out significantly about 2/5 the way in. There's a good view of the falls at that point too. The vegetation changes past half, and was a delight in early September with the start of autumn. The mine entrance itself is gated off and nothing special. It took us about 90 minutes round trip, stopping for pictures and a sit down snack by the mine. The view from the mine was very good as well.

we spent a nice morning hiking around the Fish Creek trail. The trail to the lower falls is very accessible for most people! It is flat and paved. If you’d like, you can take a short walk downhill to a nice bridge that will give you a nice view from down below the falls. It is a $5 entrance fee to get to this hike.

Fish Creek Falls, Steamboat CO. 06/28 Best time to visit is early in the morning. You get the place to yourself, it's amazing, easy little hike with a big payout. Kid and family friendly.

Such a beautiful place! Even this early in the year. The trees are all still in winter mode, and there was snow in patches here and there... The lower path was closed due to the amount of snow (didn't stop several people from going there). The falls were gorgeous and full! Lots of melt going on right now! Beautiful little Glacier Lillies and a few petite gnomes someone seeded in some nooks! Great, gentle walk, too!

This place is beautiful. We went there because Hubby is in a scooter and we wanted an accessible trail. It turned out that it was perfect for the scooter. If you are in a wheelchair and pushing someone, the trail to the picnic area I think is too hard to try and push uphill. The path to the falls would be fine. Don't miss this spot, it is absolutely worth driving too.

Very peaceful place. Nice drive up. Trails are easy for fit people. If you're fat, like me, just take your time. Carefully walk up inclines backward for an easier climb. You'll enjoy it.

Why wouldn't you visit a 200 foot waterfall? There are some very nice trails for those who would like to see the falls without significant effort or for some reason, can't get to the base. If you want a more moderate hike, go to the base of the lower falls. For a three hour strenuous hike, you can go about 2 miles to the upper falls. It spectacular but arduous. Bring plenty of water and snacks!

Absolutely beautiful place! The trailer edge is a bit more steep than I feel comfortable letting my kids walk near but aside from that it was clean, not packed, and peaceful to visit

What a memorable and beautiful snow hike. Perfect for anyone who isn’t very fit but they want to get an easy hiking experience.

There was a small entry fee at the gate ($5?), which provided access to both upper and lower falls parking. Toilet houses both at trail head, and out on the trail at one point. There are a combination of paved cement, blacktop, and dirt trails for a variety of experience levels. The falls however if the most phenomenal part and can be viewed in under 0.5 miles of gentle walking (upper falls) on paved trails. The trip to the lower falls has some steeper inclines, dirt and rock laden paths, which would not be handicap accessible, but if you can handle it, the views are incomparable. From the lower falls you can access even more challenging routes if you opt to pursue.

A gorgeous stop whenever I visit Da Boat. A nice paved path to the viewing point, easy walk. The trail down to the bridge is gravel and a moderate level. I think those with difficulty walking can do it and take it slow. But spectacular views from the view point, you are just up close and personable by the bridge (bummer it was closed for us!) Great scenery all around and especially lucky with all the green trees! Beautiful pictures to be had anywhere in the park!

A beautiful trail that is a top outing in Steamboat. Easy, short walk to bottom.of falls. accessible to almost anyone. but continue past the falls and trail is steady 8 to 12 % grade and footing not great. lots of rocks and roots. pretty shady most of the 2 miles to the top of falls. another 2 miles to lake.

Beautiful and easy hike (there is wheelchair path, but I personally didn't look for it). Gorgeous falls, and you can actually get to the water just below falls if you want to. I would definitely return.

Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs is a historical location featuring both hot and cold spring pools, as well as rustic lodging options, massages and heated changing cabins. Visitors are advised to adhere to guidelines regarding coolers and other items. The springs can be accessed via shuttle from the hotel or by day visit for photo opportunities. It's recommended to wear flip flops or easy slip-on shoes with traction and keep clothing minimal for time efficiency.
Great experience. I would highly recommend following the guidelines re coolers, etc. We did the late night visit and used the Hot Springs shuttle from our hotel but hope to return for day visit so we can capture some good photos. Bring flip flops or easy slip on shoes with traction - the less clothes to take on and off the better (for time saving sake!) Two hours is plenty of time to enjoy the springs - totally worth it!

I've been to a lot of hot springs and this one is my favorite! Especially in the fall, I love being surrounded by all of the changing colors. 5 dragonflies landed on me the last time I went in fall, it was magical 😍🍁It's stunning year-round, I love the location in the wilderness. I just wish the road to it was more accessible and not 4x4 only in winter. The view of the stars is amazing at night! I actually feel very comfortable getting naked here at night because they keep the lighting low, so nobody can see too much of each other. It feels safe and comfortable. I love that the pools are deep and each has a little bit different temperature. I wish they had more formal accommodations, I would stay here all the time!!

This is the hot spring of choice for adults in Steamboat Springs. (The other one is more of a kid-friendly spot with a slide and such.) Strawberry Park is nestled in a natural canyon, with a series of pools artistically constructed of stone walls. It is beautiful and the pool temperatures are lovely, plus you can swim in the COLD creek for a bracing contrast if you like. (Try it!) Amenities are minimal, so bring your own towel and (non-glass) water bottle. Service was also minimal, but the online reservation system worked fine and it doesn't matter much if the guy taking cash for entry isn't a social butterfly. Will definitely return next time we're in the area.

First time visit to the hot springs, with family.
We weren't interested in the clothing optional scene nor stumbling around on rocks after dark, so we booked a 4-6 time slot. It was a very hot summer day so we were questioning the sanity of this, but it ended up being very nice.
The range of pool temperatures let us move between hot and cool. Lots of people were in the lower cool (not cold) pool, switching to occasional dips in one of the hotter pools. The upper cold pool (unheated mountain stream water) was VERY brisk; only a few die hards ventured in there even on a hot day
The mountain canyon setting was also much more pleasant than the sweltering temps in town.
The pools have moss growing on the rocks, which is slippery. Enter and exit carefully and use the hand rails and you will be ok. The dark colored moss also makes it very hard to see the bottom and the rock steps. Water shoes are nice to have so you don't kick a rock with bare toes while fumbling around for a step.
Reservations are necessary; you book one of the two hour time slots. Two hours was plenty of time for us. Services are minimal...bring your own towels. They do have a cooler with bottled water for sale where you check in.
As others have pointed out, parking is limited, though it was never full when we were there.
'Shift change' is at the two hour reservation starting times, if you want to claim chairs watch for people from the prior time slot packing up to leave.

This place is gorgeous, clean and wonderful to visit. I went in the early fall, so it was not crowded, and I was able to get a reservation on a weekday and a reservation on a weekend. Also, because I went in the fall, I didn’t have to deal with the snow. If I was going when it was snowing out, I would definitely take the shuttle. There’s information on their website. I don’t have any photos to post because I’m not the type of person that goes into a hot tub situation and starts snapping photos. Frankly, I think that’s rude and please don’t. However, it’s as beautiful as the website to depicts & probably more so.

To enjoy this place for the first time, go during daylight hours. There is nothing on the website about it being pitch black and icy once the sun sets (we visited in November). There is zero lighting and it's incredibly slippery. The pools felt nice, but we couldn't enjoy the natural setting. Perhaps an evening visit is best if you've already been and know where to go. There's a very basic changing room with a curtain. No instructions upon arrival, basically good luck! I was really looking forward to this hot spring experience for my birthday, but was seriously disappointed. Please update your website with this information!

What a cool experience. Took a shuttle bus and definitely experienced the full offerings of the springs. Beautiful views and nice relaxing environment. Went at the 4:45 pm time slot. I would definitely return. This place is cash only but don’t really offer a lot of this for purchase. You can bring in your own towels or rent what you need.

Absolutely amazing place. The ambiance especially at night with the stars is beautiful. It is quite the drive and am not sure if we would feel comfortable during the snowy months to make it out. They offer a shuttle option for a fee and I would recommend that!

A unique experience staying at this place: I lucked out and stayed in Cabin #4 for the weekend. We had after hours access to the thermal hot springs where the sky was dark enough to see constellations galore and shooting stars pass by. The cabin bed was surprisingly comfy and our window looked over the river. The heaters had a hard time warming up the little room so we limited how often we opened the door. The grill outside was great to cook breakfast and the wooden seats were also solid. We kept our food inside with us and I believe we were visited (more so raided) by little mice who nibbled on some food but I never saw them with my own eyes. A unique aspect about this cabin is that you bring your own bed linens and towels, which is super sustainable; this place also runs on solar energy which I am happy to hear! The showers were a bit of a let down. The water from the sink ran HOT but the showers gave off a wimpy lukewarm stream. The shower floors could've been cleaner but I've seen way worse. The rest of the bathroom was in relatively good shape and the design of the bathroom was attractive. I would come back a little reluctantly in the Winter since the shower water wasn't cutting it for me, but I would come back in the Summer since the temp doesn't matter that much at that time or Fall when the Aspens change leaves. The mice obviously should be something to address ( whether by providing a food box OR suggesting to guests to keep their food in their cars) but it's also a legit old log cabin so it's natural to encounter critters. It's definitely like an established campground except that you have heat and a comfy bed to keep you sleeping happily through the night. Thank you for having us! I would recommend this place with the cautions that I mentioned above.

A very unique hot spring experience! We came right after dark and luckily the couple we came with had came the night before so they could navigate us through the dark. There is a path reasonably lit but when you go off that path the light is very scarce. There are two pools we went in, one which was extremely hot and the other which was comfortably warm for a long period of time. They also had a cool pool that we did not go into. After a certain point in the evening the crowd seemed to turn so we headed home after hours of enjoying the springs. We will definitely be back again and maybe shoot for late afternoon and sunset.

Beautiful hot springs, with a creek running through it. Hot springs water comes out of the ground at 145 and the pools are about 107. The creek is 45 degrees if you are brave enough to swim across. I did once and at 74 years old that was enough for me.
Nice changing room, massage service available and all the pools have a great view. Lots of young people there as well as some my age.
It was 20 dollars and reservations reccomend as there is not a great deal of parking at the site. We didn't have reservations and had no problem getting in. I will definitely go back.

I visited the hot springs yesterday 8/27 and it is a lovely place.
However I really want to warn others about the danger of entering and exiting the pools. I slipped and fell two separate times and the second time I injured my back. I am laid up in bed and if my back is truly injured I will be considering legal action. It would be very easy to hit the head on the stone steps and have even worse injuries.
There are no signs, no warning of the slick algae on the stairs, there are no rubber mats, there are very few railings. I am afraid someone older will be seriously injured and I am writing this review to warn others. Be very careful and use the limited rails as much as you can to enter and exit.
It is very upsetting to me that very minimal precautions like rubber mats could eliminate this dangerous hazard. I feel frustrated and sad that this happened to me and I want to do something about it. Be safe, be careful.
Also as others have mentioned, person at the front was rude and demanding, it would be nice to have a friendly kind face as the front of your business. Also no one is around in the pool area to check on guests or make sure everyone is safe and well. Would not expect such lax service and dangers at a very busy business in America.
For five people and one child we paid $140 including a couple bottles of water. I expect safety and friendly customer service for the price. Maybe this is too much to ask for.

Overall I loved it. Awesome environment and everything. 3 different pools at different temperatures. The only complaint I really have is the lack of lighting. Once it gets dark they have no lights that come on, so you're basically in pitch black walking around when you get out of the springs, and there are rocky steps everywhere. You have to go extremely slow in order to not trip and break your ankles. Also I didn't realize this was a thing before I went there, but apparently it's clothing optional. Oh also the shower facilities were nice. They keep it nice and toasty in there, and the floor is even heated.

This is definitely my favorite hot springs that I've been to in Colorado. This wonderful natural hot springs nestled in the mountains of the surrounding Steamboat Springs area is both picturesque and spectacular in many ways. Come for the hot springs, massages, lodging, or all the above and enjoy the beauty this part of the state offers. Online reservation only, cash only and off grid with little to no cell signal, requiring 4x4 or AWD, as well as high clearance. Highly recommended for a remote getaway or to soak post-skiing.

What an awesome experience! At the last minute my wife found this spring online and was able to book the last available reservation, and thank god she did! It was the perfect way to relax and unwind after skiing all morning. Awesome location at the end of a windy road in the middle of the mountains. On a 20 degree day in December, this water did not fall short of the “hot” variety. They have multiple pools, each allowing the water to cool down naturally to different temperatures, so you can jump around and heat up or cool off as desired. One important recommendation, which we did not have the foresight to do…. BRING A TOWEL AND DRY CLOTHES YOU CAN PUT ON EASILY! We made the mistake of not doing that, and getting out of the water and dried off in the 20 degree shade was quite the spectacle.
Benjamin Lamac — Google review
The staff at this establishment are shockingly unprofessional, rude, and deeply prejudiced. It's baffling to me how these individuals retain their positions and why anyone would consider this place great.
The only redeeming feature of this location is the view, but even that can be found elsewhere in Colorado without the added discomfort. Instead of enjoying the landscape, you're forced to contend with a filthy river masquerading as a "pool." The water resembles nothing more than a polluted river, akin to swimming in the Colorado or Platte River, except it's unnaturally heated. In contrast, professional pools like those at Glennwood Springs, Indian Springs, and Old Town Hot Springs boast warm, clean, and sanitized water.
Swimming here is not only unpleasant but potentially hazardous. I sustained severe cuts on the bottom of my feet, likely from the sharp rocks on the bottom because this is not a swimming pool, it's literally like the bottom of any river in the mountain. Additionally, accessibility is severely lacking, with only stairs available. This poses a significant challenge for individuals with mobility issues or health concerns like bad knees, wheelchair, or high blood pressure because it's all incline or decline on a dirt road, there is no sidewalk.
Save yourself the disappointment and choose a more reputable destination, like Old Town Hot Springs. Don't take my word for it; just compare the pictures online like google. While Old Town Hot Springs offers pristine waters, Strawberry's Springs presents an alarming scene of algae-ridden waterfalls. Furthermore, be prepared for muddy dirt roads, adding to the overall unpleasant experience.
In conclusion, avoid this place at all costs. It's simply not worth the three-hour drive or the discomfort of navigating its inadequacies.

I used to love this place. Its still beautiful, lodging is good, springs are amazing. But they've dragged the pool reservation and mask madness out far enough. There is now no scientific reason to go into complete panic that a group of people might sit outside in a group of 7 as opposed to 6. There is no scientific reason to lose our minds at the thought of folks going maskless outside at a remote mountain campground. For a more pro-science business, check out Old Town Hot Springs in Steamboat. No reservation required, no one losing their minds that you aren't on a list. Much nicer staff, too.

Went out to Winter Park to visit a friend and had planned to visit Strawberry Hot springs. I had been in the summer and was excited to see it in the winter. We booked a reservation for 6 o’clock and quickly realized we wouldn’t make it in time (it was a 2 hour drive there) and the next available reservation time was booked. I called and spoke to Russ, who said we would still be accommodated and our two hour time slot would start whenever we were able to arrive. He also proceeded to tell us that they’ve been getting horrible reviews online and they wanted to turn that around so they’d be understanding of our poor time management.
We quickly threw towels in a bag we had been using earlier in the day on the mountain and headed out. Upon arriving, we paid for our slot and had our bag searched (alcohol and outside food are not allowed). We completely forgot about the pint in the bottom and expected this employee to just ask us to take it to the car. Instead, he was incredibly rude told us to take our money back and get out. Not only was the manner of the situation handled poorly, the employee was downright rude and not even willing to let us explain and remove the alcohol from the area so we could enjoy the springs.
Customer service like this is what drives business away & if you’re going to employ those who don’t enjoy their job, then you’re going to continue to have horrible reviews.

Magical! We went when it was 10 degrees outside and it felt great to be in the different temperature pools. I preferred the warm bath feeling pool to the really hot sections. Many people were doing polar swims in the cold pool and it was pretty cold the 30 seconds I tried it. The setting it beautiful and you won’t regret visiting.
Cash only. Changing rooms and restrooms. Bring your own towels and probably some slippers to not get your winter boots wet.

This place is awesome, I have been maybe 7-10 times in the past couple years.
It’s a magical location, so cool with the stream right by the springs!
Super cool when it’s cold out! The stars!!
But, went yesterday and it was completely packed. To where you could barely move in the pools. I’m all about capitalism but something is lost when you are jammed like sardines into a can in the hot springs. Don’t go on busy days maybe?

I have been coming for literally over 40 years. They’ve let some things go and not quite as well taken care of as it once was at such a unique place. I have never been where there is anything else like it. Definitely don’t want the kids there after dark, very adult. Go reset your metabolism and rejoice in the beauty. That is the natural contrast to the river. I’ve always loved the cold plunge and then back into the heat again.

This place is incredible. Rob and Paul were so friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay. The pools are perfectly maintained to still feel extremely natural. Campsites are spacious and well maintained with very nice grill, picnic table, and raised wooden platform. The scenery is beautiful, and this little paradise is something VERY special. I can’t wait for my next trip here.
BE WARNED: Chipmunks are brazen. Bears about. I would highly advise the hike up that hill to put your food in your car at dark.

This place is a must when visiting Steamboat Springs. Be prepared to change in the cold during the winter in open enclosures that are made of rock. The change areas remind me of the Flintstones. Pack easy on/off water shoes to wear while moving from pool to pool or to the change area. Don't forget your chains during the winter months as the drive is hilly with narrow roads and muddy areas closer to the springs.

I visited with a friend who was visiting from out of town. One of the best parts of our trip exploring Colorado in the winter.
Definitely need a four wheel drive. Don’t forget to bring cash for the entrance fee. I went during the day which I recommend especially for first timers.
You will not be disappointed the drive up is stunning lots of wildlife. Be careful the last few miles the road is narrow and traffic runs both ways on that narrow road.
If I remember correctly they do a bag check on the way in and I don’t think you can bring food in. I came with my suit on because the change area is not very private.

I brought my husband here for his birthday. I would definitely recommend booking at least 2 months ahead for a cabin. What an amazing experience. We stayed in the train caboose. It did have a shower, toilet, pull out bed, linens and kitchenette and a loft like area to shove unwanted guests that you don't want to hang out with.. What I loved most was we got to stay until midnight instead of 10pm and got the whole hot springs to ourselves. Clothing optional as well, so if that bothers you stay home. There are 5-6 hot springs pools. Some are very warm and some are like warm bath water. If you are brave enough there is a cool area for an ice bath experience. Its cold but worth the adrenaline. I'm not sure what everyone was talking about regarding a cranky old man ruining the experience in the reviews. Everyone was so kind and welcoming.

I have been to 3 different hotsprings before coming to this one and this one was by far the best.
We went for the 8pm to 10pm slot on 4/13/24.We did reserve online before arriving as recommended on their website so I would definitely do that.
Clothing is optional after 8pm and it's very dark by the pools so you don't have to worry about seeing anything you don't want to. Also it is cash only at $20 a person so bring cash!!
Highly recommend this place.!!!

This is a natural hot spring. There are apparently a few rooms to rent but it's not a hotel and few guests stay in the rooms - I've never tried them.
You don't come here for the rooms or service (shuttle service is great though). It's all about the natural beauty and unique experience and they still have that. The changing areas can get hectic - wear easy but warm clothing.
Clean bathrooms but they're a bit of a walk.

This place is so cool. The hot springs were perfect after a day on the slopes. And beyond just the hot springs, there's a creek that runs right by it that you can jump into to cool off. It's quite the temperature change with the springs being above 100°F and the creek around 40°F.
Highly recommend booking a shuttle to the location, as the road to it in the winter is restricted to vehicles with 4 wheel drive and/or tires with chains.

We did an evening soak on our trip over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend! It was a wonderfully therapeutic and spiritual experience even at -13 degrees! We highly recommend it! Couple of tips: wear your swimsuit under your clothes for ease of entering the pools. The pools are clothing optional, but it is very dark, so we never really saw too much or felt uncomfortable even though we opted to wear bathing suits. It’s is not lit very well. So be prepared for that. It’s also very slippery when it’s as cold as it was when we were there. So you may consider some kind of non-slip swim shoe.
Also a word of caution: I don’t recommend bringing anything valuable. My debit card was stolen out of my coat pocket while we were in the pools. I had to cancel it as soon as I realized it. Luckily I noticed it early on. You will need to pay admission if you don’t book a shuttle and they do have water and snacks for purchase. I didn't see any lockers, and the changing room and bathrooms are a little bit of a walk from the pools, so plan accordingly.
Overall it was a great experience and we would do it again!

Swampy, muddy, and discriminatory. This location lacks any semblance of cleanliness. The journey up the rugged terrain, punctuated by massive potholes, poses a risk to any vehicle, even those equipped with 4-wheel drive. Despite the presence of phone lines and electricity, an ATM is notably absent, as confirmed by a staff member. Be sure to bring cash for transactions.
Speaking of staff, individuals may face criticism and harassment based on their weight or ethnicity. In my experience, despite a line of people both ahead and behind me, only my bag was singled out for inspection by a skinny, tall white employee with a goatee. When questioned, he unjustly asserted, "This is private property, and you can leave!" In response, I had to remind him of his obligation to involve the police if necessary, which he failed to do, likely realizing his error. Prepare for a hostile environment if you are overweight, a minority, or both, particularly near the water where selective enforcement and harassment may occur.
Furthermore, the water itself is disgustingly polluted and covered in algae. What may seem picturesque in photographs is tarnished by a thick layer of algae, making every surface dangerously slippery. Sharp pebbles and boulders litter the riverbed, hidden beneath the algae-coated water. Restrooms are inconveniently distant from the water, and the return journey involves navigating a dirt road without sidewalks. The pollution is so severe that I woke up the next day with a sizable blemish under my hairline.
For a superior experience, I highly recommend Old Town Hot Springs. It offers cleanliness without algae, dirt, or dust, along with friendly staff and smooth roads devoid of prejudice or harassment.

Location is definitely an adventure but it’s nothing you can’t handle just come prepared if you are visiting in the winter. The springs are nice and beautiful feels like you are in a movie or a dream especially in the winter time. The train caboose room/cabin is definitely fun and a unique experience would definitely 10/10 recommend. Staff is fun and friendly just listen to their rules and be polite. The whole experience was unique and unbelievable and would definitely recommend to anyone. Will be back yearly
