Hiked the sea caves overlook trail at Meyers Beach on a beautiful February day. A lot of the trail is solid wood planks. One way is almost 2 miles that includes going up and down inclines. They have strategically placed benches for a break to enjoy the woods.

This is an excellent place to spend a weekend. Kayaking, picnic, hiking, sea caves, and one of the most well groomed trails I've ever got to partake in. Parking is very very limited so get there early or prepare to park far away. Kayak and boat launch here. Safety first.
We not only kayaked but got to hike these trails. Dog friendlyand very people.
When you come to this place it's strictly for the nature. Enjoy it and leave nothing but ripples, and footprints.

Launched our kayaks here. Absolutely beautiful day. Nice area, water and restrooms here, and Park personnel to check that you're prepared. Very nice beach and beautiful views of the caves!

Great place to hike and kayak!! Views are amazing!!

Worth the hike!! The views looking from the top down onto the sea caves was amazing. Saw many kayaks entering the caves. Did this hike in the morning and then did the island sunset cruise. I am a photo person and I felt I had many more great photo ops vs. on the boat. $5 parking fee at the park. Great way to relax at the end of the day.

Took the sea caves overlook trail with my 2 greyhounds. This is primarily a forest trail until you get close to the sea caves. The trail consists mainly of 2 plank boardwalks and steps. So waterproofed hiking boots are a must as sometimes you have to step off the trail to let people pass. The forest is lush and in mid-June blue bead lillies and bunchberry are in bloom. Bug repellent is definitely required, and the dampness of the forest raises the humidity. The first mile is easy, but then you need to descend into 6 to 7 steep gullies and this raises the ease of the hike to moderate. Muddy creeks generally meet you at the bottom before you climb back out. Here steps are uneven and eroded with exposed tree roots becoming a hazard. If you are unsure of foot you will definitely need walking poles (or consider giving the trail a miss). Note to multi-dog owners, having 2 leashed large dogs increased the difficulty significantly on this section. On the plus side these gullies are not deep (15-25 feet elevation change). The main sea cave is impressive from above, with gapping holes in the roof that allow you to look down into it. There is a nice bench to sit on to contemplate Lake Superior. Starting out before 6 am on a weekday we saw no-one until we were half way back so a good time to go to avoid crowds. The last group I encountered had just seen a black bear on the trail quite close to the car park. Although I personally did not see it as we finished the hike, I thought I better let the ranger know there was a bear close by. When I mentioned the bear was gone when we walked through, he made my day by replying "bummer". His first thought was that we had missed out on the pleasure of seeing a wild bear. Apparently bears are sighted fairly regularly in the vicinity but run when encountering people.

We were very lucky to kayak on Saturday with fog. This made the Sea Caves adventure incredible. Jurassic Park vibes!!! We did tandem kayaking and went through the Caves.
The next day we hiked the trail above the Sea Caves in a beautiful sunny day. The water was so blue and we stopped at the view points to take pictures and make really good memories!
What a fantastic weekend. Really worth the drive to Bayfield for an extended long weekend.

We went to hike - and we are not super athletic. It’s a US Park service site; parking was $5 per car (fee based on length). Round trip we covered about 5 miles, but it was well worth it. The scenery is beautiful!! Not really suitable for young kids or anyone with unsure footing. There’s a few places where the trail has been washed out, and up and down gullies takes some effort! But the beauty is worth it!

Absolutely worth exploring!!! We hiked to the "bowl" and back. Trails are well maintained and while we are not experienced hikers, we manged the distance just fine. Mosquitos are horrible everywhere in the area, so make sure to bring bug spray.

This is truly a hidden gem located in Bayfield, WI. The trail the sea caves is almost 5 miles in and back. The hike is easy to moderate but well worth it when you get to the caves. The trail is well marked. The first half is lined with a boardwalk however many of the wooden planks are loose so please be careful. The other half of the trail is wooded but Make sure you wear shoes with a good some as there are many exposed trees roots. Not a good trail for folks with knee pain. There are some steep inclines. Once you make it to the caves there are some nice flat areas to have a snack. I never made my way down to the beach which is an additional 4 miles making an total of 10 miles in and out. Overall I highly recommend Chick-fil-A out the caves !

Beautiful waters and soft sand💙 There are restrooms and the lakeshore trail nearby! This beach is dog friendly as well! Area kayak tours take off from this beach to get to the Apostle Island Seacaves.

We came here for a short visit a few years ago. This time we came back to hike the full Lakeshore Trail (10+ miles) starting at the parking area of Meyers Beach. We did an overnight drive from the Twin Cities and boondocked right in the parking area, because we wanted to have an early start with the hike, and it was perfect to see the northern stars here! We woke up to a beautiful sunrise and the opening view of the lake.
There is a $5 day fee to park there. There are two non-gendered, one-person-use bathrooms in the area, and the only light source is from the single window each provide. There are couple picnic tables, running water, and resources about the islands and surrounding areas. There's park rangers there to answer any questions you have as well (during open hours).
We started hiking at 5am and stopped several times to bask in the views of the caves and horizons of other islands. It's definitely quiet and less crowded. The Lakeshore Trail takes you to the Lakeshore camping sites, and is a medium to hard difficulty in hiking, depending on your hiking endurance. It is not kid or accessible-friendly. There are some fallen trees and natural damages around the trail due to early storms. Also note that there are not a lot of barriers around the trails, so do hike with caution and be conscious of your surrounding and environment at all times. With some stops here and there, we got to the campground in about 4 hours. We hung around the beach area for a quick skinny dipping in the cool, clear water, rest, and refuel; and then made our way back to the starting point. By this time, people are trickling in for kayaking tours. It was nice to see kayakers below the trail and caves. We got back in about 3 hours this time since we didn't make a lot of stops as we did going there.
Once back, we took the boardwalk down to the beach (Meyers Beach) and hung out with other folks for lunch and watch kayakers launch their tour from here. This is now one of our top list to be when visiting Apostle island.
The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Mainland Sea Caves in Algoma, Ontario offer a breathtaking winter wonderland experience. The towering waves of Lake Superior create stunning ice ridges and caves that are ideal for photography enthusiasts. However, visitors must bundle up in warm clothes and snowshoes to explore the caves. Due to climate change, these incredible natural formations could disappear within a few decades.
Amazing! Took a self guided kayak rental from nearby Lost Adventures. About a 45 minute paddle there, then an hour to explore the caves. So cool, beautiful weather and unforgettable memories!

Gorgeous! Took the Grand Tour of the Apostle Islands in August 2022. 2 1/2+ hour tour. Arrived early for excellent parking & seats on the boat. (Recommend back row top deck for long legs & excellent views) Was totally worth $45+ a person. The captain was an excellent narrator and guide for the tour. Many fascinating comments and honestly, he was funny, keeping the tour interesting and fresh. Bathroom and snacks on boat. Thrilled to see the crew clean the railings regularly to keep germs low. Some guests opted for masks, most didn't. Great for families with kids. A family with 7 kids under 15 joined the tour and looked like it was a great time!

It's a very long hike!! It starts out ok, but turns out to be pretty strenuous and seems longer then the 1.8 MI that is posted!! It turns into lots of up and downs and roots. I went to the crevasse, and waited for my husband, who went the rest of the way!!

Great place for avid and experienced campers and kayakers! A lot of fun for inexperienced campers as well. Towns and areas surrounding this area are small, shops close early, and most restaurants close by 8; but a few restaurants are open later. I would bring a cooler already stocked and snacks. Prices are high at the grocery stores so try to come prepared to save money. The views are brilliant views and some great hiking. We came up to kayak the sea caves but did not get a chance due to “weather.” That may have increased the star rating to a 5. Great hiking trail: Meyers Beach Sea Caves trail-solid moderate trail. This was a great time! Young kids or persons with disabilities would need significant assistance completing this trail. Lots of nearby campsites. Can burn wood nearby campsite- if you can find any dry, downed logs. Lots of available kindling but we bought wood at a nearby casino for $5.50 a bundle. On a cool night, one bundle for 30-45 minutes of fire.

The sea caves are fabulous! I took my family on a full day sea kayak trip with Whitecap Kayak. They are awesome providing us a personalized tour and not the assembly line tours we heard were offered on the other tours. We were fortunate the water was so calm allowing you to paddle into multiple sea caves.

Super beautiful. Didn't complete the whole trail along the lake.... Ended up spraining my ankle! but it's okay, got these pictures out of it and some good memories. Will be conquering the trail again next time I'm up here.

I've done a few trails on lake superior but this one is my favorite so far! Amazing views the whole hike. I entered the trail near the beach and hiked a few miles here, highly recommended even if you're just driving through the area it's a quick pull off.

Had a ton of fun up there. The tent is cool and the volunteers were all very nice. Saw Charlie Berens there and it was amazing. Also saw a Beatles Tribute band, and that was fun as well highly recommend going for a show.

It was our first time. My parents and their friends had talked about it for many years...back to the original tent. We saw Riding the Wind. Absolutely loved it!!

Definitely a unique setting...you can't get much more Northern Wisconsin than this.. A huge tent, in the middle of a field, at the bottom of a ski hill...I love it. Seating is a mix of Church pews and theater style fold down woods seats, with a gravel floor! You just have to experience it once, and you will definitely want to return. Smaller venue, so all seats have a relatively good view. Outdoor lawn seating is also a good cheaper seating option. Always amazing talent and a fun crowd.
Kim Pocernich — Google review
I saw the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band here. Great venue outdoors and that made it special. The only reason for 4 stars was the mosquitos. Bring bug spray. Super fun venue, well worth doing! This group was having fun and were a great show too. I feel bad for giving 4 stars for this event.....I just cant do it!

The old Big top is now enclosed by a more weather-resistant structure. The best sound is at the back, rather than the sides. As always, a wonderful time, great staff, great concert attendees.

One of my all time favorite venues! There's not a bad seat in the house, you've got fresh air, the absolute nicest people and great artists!

Love this small venue for concerts in a huge tent! Great volunteers, easy parking, good food & drink & reasonable prices compared to arenas. Located at the base of a ski hill between Bayfield & aWashburn, WI. Also good modern bathroom & outhouses. Over the yrs we've seen Kenny Ray Shepherd, Jeff Daniels, Bonnie Raitt, & Shakey Graves... All great times!

The Big Top has the heart of Wisconsin! It’s a well managed venue and musical artists love to perform here. Witness an intimate concert experience with a great crowd and the artists are always really “on” at the Big top. The location and character are truly charming. Go there!

Wow….this place is amazing! I’m very glad a friend told me about Big Top when I shared that I was traveling to Bayfield for vacation. Saw the Indigo Girls. Amazing concert at an amazing venue. Super easy to get to location, near Bayfield. Showed up to easy parking. Scanning of tickets on the mobile phone was quick. There’s great food and drinks that you can purchase once you arrive. The concert under the tent was spectacular. Everyone attending the show and working at the show was very friendly. You need to experience this at least once!!

Awesome seasonal space bringing top talent, as well as local shows to the area. Sound and lighting are good, as is seating (with the possible exception of a few tent leaks here and there if it's raining hard... but everything else is so good, you hardly notice.)
Even tho a majority of the building is restricted due to covid, there is still great native displays and art, as well as the gift shop. The nature trail loop is a must, winding thru mixed hardwood and conifer forest and wetlands
Stephen Smith — Google review
We love stopping here whenever we drive by (so far only twice but will be back)! The long nature trail is really nice and takes you through a variety of trees/plants. Half is gravel, half is boardwalk. The building is full of info and nice art. Cute gift shop. There are also employees to help with info on the area if you're interested. Clean bathrooms. One of the best rest stops!

Nice exhibits inside. I was expecting to see a bit more of the Big Lake from the 5th floor observation area, but there was some light rain coming down. Seeing all the trails from up there was neat. We didn't walk any of the trails (because of the rain). Nice that you can visit for free. We did spend some money in the gift shop.

My Wife and I came in here on 2-17-24 around 12:45. We were coming to get a Veterans Lifetime Park Pass. The two Ladies at the entrance counter were just beyond helpful, it was great to get all of the Info they had to offer and we both really appreciative all of their help and recommendations. They quickly were able to help us get the Pass. Then we walked around not previously knowing all of the great things offered here. Would highly recommend checking this place out, kids will also love stopping in. Highly recommend.

Big parking lot. Any size RV can fit. We're full time RVr's, blog link in bio.
Room to run your dog too.
Beautiful visitor center with great helpful people who work and volunteer to make your visit the best it can be.
The photos are of the surrounding areas.

The museum was worth the stop. Part of the historical society is also located here with lots of records. The tower made for a cool view up above the marshes. There is also a cinema with on demand movies ranging from 20min-2 hours. The parking area is not maintained at all. Pot holes the size of bomb craters! The walking trail in the marsh also had lots of ticks. Our dog picked up 5+ ticks just a few paces in so we turned back.

This is a really good visitor center. If you are going to Apostle Islands or the great lakes, its worth visiting here. We made a detour to go via here when heading south and it was well worth it. Love the tower and the views across the area. There are also a short walk from the visitor center around a lake.
Inside there are various displays across multiple floors. Comprehensive information about the area is available, plus the usual shop. There is a lot here and its one of the best visitor centers I have seen, and I have done over 150 National Park sites. I would certainly include this in your route, if you are driving up to Apostle Islands.

I was in Ashland the 3rd week of April. It was very cold and there was ice still on the lake. Looking for things to do we stopped by the visitor center. They have a wealth of knowledge contained in this building. Pamphlets on attractions, trails, waterfalls. Ferry information to the apostle islands. Interactive displays. Lovely dioramas and murals. Gift shop. Clean restrooms.
The only disappointment was the observation deck. Steps and elevator. Once up top I was hoping for a beautiful view of the lake. However, you are quite a distance from Lake Superior so it was an amazing view of the land around the center. There was also a man on the outside observation deck with binoculars counting birds. In the lobby was a large board showing the number of each species of migrating bird.
I would definitely spend 30 minutes here.

What an awesome museum they have there. From fur trade to logging and everything in between. Laid out nicely and what a view from the top, will be back in the spring to walk the trails. Real nice gift shop as well, picked up some books and t-shirts. The porcupine quill earrings are really cool too.

Very interesting and informative. Everything from art, to displays, beautifully painted wall murals and information about the northern great lakes. The bonus was the tower, three floor up, with breath taking views. Highly recommend.

This is the best visitor center I have ever been to by far, and I travel a lot and love visitor centers! When I was there there were several art exhibits- one was woven portraits of women who have fought for clean water all over the world, and the other was an artists painting of native Americans in their pow wow regalia. These were in addition to their historical Great Lake exhibits and ranger programs. They also have a fantastic trail system on the beautiful preserve they sit on. In addition they have a very comfortable theatre and a fantastic educational selection of historical and environmental film library for every age and interest. Because the weather was not conducive to apostle island tours, I actually spent a second day here watching movies. The staff were excellent too and I saw that many people visiting were also impressed.

A beautiful place for education or simply relaxing. There are trails to walk, and many displays. I migrated to the elevated deck in the rear and sat in a rocking chair and read. The deck overlooks a lovely pond & wetland.

It's a very nice stop. It's a must see. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Hiking trails and the observation tower is awesome. You can easily spend a couple of hours there.
We hadn't gone here in years, but the kids had always loved it when they were little. My daughter still enjoyed it at 15, as did I.

What an incredible experience! I found the price of admission to be extremely reasonable, given that it is a relatively small museum. The experience was well worth the price! Immediately upon entering we were greeted warmly by the member of museum staff at the front counter, asked if we'd visited before and when we said no, we were given a quick rundown of the museum's features. It was nice to have that instead of wondering "where do we go first?" and we very much appreciated that!
My spouse and I were lucky enough to visit during the Wiigwaazii: The Evolving Traditions of Birch" exhibit and that took our breath away. It was really fun to walk through the modern exhibition center and then down the hall to the old, original museum and the exhibits of artifacts and the Sailor's Home and the "Old Jail". I highly recommend this museum if you're visiting Madeline Island and are a lover of history!
Jessica Plachecki — Google review
It's not super bad, the people there are very dedicated to what they do and were very lovely.
The museum itself is rather small, more of a lot of little things.
I'd really like to see this place grow, to have people make the trip and have the museum be a major point of interest. hopefully they can get more attention to make that happen.

Thus is a must if you visit the island. The history is amazing. Incredible artifacts and a guide that truly knows the history of the island and its people. Don't miss this opportunity to truly understand Madeline Island.

This is not our first time at the museum and won't be the last. We had a great time here, yet again. We actually did a tour with them as well as had the kids do a little class (which they enjoyed. Boys 8&11) Museum is not huge, but has a lot of stuff and a lot of info. Some of the exhibits were different from a few years ago, which also was cool. Staff was always amazing! (I think we bothered them 3 different days) Thank you for a great time.

The Madeline Island museum is a wonderful place to see and hear the history of the island. There are two buildings. The original museum is filled with old tools and artifacts. A docent can tell you interesting facts. The new building has many examples of birch bark art, some of which can be purchased. One interactive exhibit tells about various ship wrecks off the Apostle Islands and off the western shore of Lake Michigan. There also is a gift shop with reasonably priced items.
Linda Campbell — Google review
This was an interesting so on Madeline Island. The museum is kind of broken up into to sections, the newer museum that you start off in, but then the old original museum from the fifties. The new section is cool, and currently is featuring artwork by Rabbet Before Horses, which was really interesting. The old part of the museum was interesting for the difference in "museumology" (as put by the person at the door) now versus when it originally opened.
We were glad we went, but not sure it would be on our list for a return trip.
Del O'Loughlin — Google review
What a great place and story! Amazing this place was the hub of so much activity while I would on an island. Some cool old buildings to look at a lot of artifacts from long ago.
Bruce Wilk — Google review
This is not worth the admission of $10 per person. They charge you to take the Ferry and then want you to pay an admission for the museum. This is a lot $$ for a large family of seven. We did not find the displays or artifacts interesting. Madeline Island we found is overrated and everything is overpriced. Stick to the other Apostle Islands lighthouses and tours. The Bayfield Museum was far more interesting and it’s FREE.
Michael Hecker — Google review
Wonderful museum! Amazing to see all the history of the island. Rob made the experience even better with his knowledge and stories he shared with us! Our two kids also enjoyed it!
Holly Rands — Google review
This is a top-notch museum and a crown jewel of the Wisconsin Historical Society (as well as the Society's only site in northern Wisconsin). It consists of a modern museum with excellent programs (look at the calendar of Wednesday evening talks) and special exhibits plus a "museum within a museum," the original Madeline Island Museum opened by Bella and Leo Capser in 1958. Note that the original museum is preserved with all of its flaws; the artifacts and stories would be presented very differently in a new museum.
Membership in the Historical Society includes all of the museums and historic sites and is well worth the annual fee. If you don't want to become a member, adult admission to this museum is $10.

The interior is beautiful and stylish, but the service was mediocre. The waitress was not friendly or welcoming, seemed to be annoyed with something. No one comes up to the table during the visit. We came for a quick snack, but this place is more of a dinner-type place.

We have always had great beer here and love our IPA’s, was very disappointing to come and no IPA’s at all, not even a pale ale :( so we had the Luna coffee stout which was good but the way it was poured we literally had 3/4 of a glass so not happy about that. I guess I will be checking to see what’s on tap before we come back.
Barbara King — Google review
Was unimpressed with the selection of beers on tap. The three beers we tried didn't stand out from other spectacular Wisconsin craft breweries. The two restaurants and middle bar was very confusing for us first time visitors and I was frustrated by the difficulty in simply getting a drink. Ordered a margherita pizza and was surprised to find a thick crust covered in cheese with less than a handful of diced tomato bits. I would recommend this establishment for neither pizza nor high quality craft beer. The redeeming quality was the high quality service from hosts and servers.

We drive through Ashland twice a year on our way from Ontario to Northern Minnesota to visit family... this is our favourite place to eat and have a few beer while in town. Just discovered the "bar side" as we were early for our reservation. Cool old style bar, great beers on tap! I ordered the Smoked Ribeye served over cheddar bacon pilsner risotto with asparagus. The scent of smoke hits you as soon as the plate arrives, so delicious! The creamy risotto is wonderful, cooked perfectly and the pilsner is a great idea in place of white wine, I will be trying this myself! My wife ordered the Crab Stuffed Shrimp wrapped in Bacon served over saffron rice topped with a wonderful cream sauce with just the right amount of acidity, as well as some micro greens! Amazing!... seafood was cooked to perfection, Everything tasted so good and the plating... gorgeous! Pictures don't really do this meal justice, and of course you can't smell how wonderful it was either! Make this place a stop on your next trip through the area or just head to Ashland for a drive, some great food and some tasty beers!

Food was good. Beer was better. Huge amounts food. Spinash artichoke dip was delicious. Nashville hot chicken sandwich was not what I expected, not even close to it. Tasty but not a fan. Beer cheese soup was really good, but the cage and corned beef soup was so salty I could not even take 4 bites. Fish sandwich was ok it seems the theme tonight is too much salt. Service was good, all though it seems the waitress was in the weeds.

Good food and beer but the service was poor. We sat at the bar and had to wait 10+ minutes for our second beer. Waited 20+ minutes to pay our tab and only got help because I shouted down a bartender. It’s too bad because otherwise a nice place.

Good beer on tap but if wanted your favorite brand, it ain't here as they only serve their own brew. You can get hard liquor drinks as well.
The main salmon dish was good and filling but I found the cheese curd appetizer a bit dry and they seemed like they just came out of a box and reheated.

Visiting Big Bay Town Park on Madeline Island was an experience that surpassed all my expectations. This park is a true hidden gem, offering a serene escape into nature's embrace.
The park's natural beauty is simply breathtaking. From the lush, green trails that are perfect for a peaceful hike, to the stunning views of the lake, every corner of Big Bay Town Park is a testament to the beauty of the great outdoors. The tranquility of the area is something that photos just can't capture fully; it’s something you have to experience in person.
One of the highlights for me was the sandy beach. It's a perfect spot for a relaxing day by the water, whether you're looking to swim, sunbathe, or just enjoy the scenic views. The water was crystal clear and refreshing, providing a delightful respite on a sunny day.
The park is also well-maintained, which speaks volumes about the dedication of the staff and the community to preserving this natural wonder. The facilities, including picnic areas and restrooms, were clean and convenient, adding to the overall positive experience.
For those who love camping, the park offers a great camping experience with well-spaced sites that allow for privacy while still being close to the natural attractions of the area.
In conclusion, Big Bay Town Park is a must-visit for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat into nature, a family outing, or just a day away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It’s a place that offers a blend of relaxation, adventure, and scenic beauty. I can't wait to return and explore more of what this beautiful park has to offer.

So much fun! This park has everything!! It was extremely clean and litter free. The staff was unbelievably nice that we interacted with, they had nice facilities and the beach was amazing. You could always find a place in the shade even with the crowds that came with the Fourth of July weekend. I really liked that that there was a warm water side and a cold water side. Highly recommend! Five stars!

I love big bay town park! The stairway to the beach is so beautiful! The beach is clean and the sand is soft …with lots of pretty polished stones to beach comb over.
There’s also a nice board wall that goes all the way into the big bay state park…it’s pretty as it winds its way through the pines growing on the sand spit that divides the lagoon from the lake proper.
At the top of the bluff there is a very nice group event Shelter with barbecues and such
Parking is easy and the bathrooms are fine.
The campsites are pretty nice, but most don’t seem large enough for rv’s

Awesome place to visit. Come here instead of the state park if you want beach access. You also have access to the boardwalk and can walk the length of the bay or you can just relax on the beach.

Great camping for out of the city quiet vacation time. The camping host was friendly and helpful. Camping place, showers and toilet was clean.
If you expect rain choose wisely the place for tent.
Wonderful beach and walking from the camping to the state park.
And be prepared to listen to the squirells ;)
Always remember we are the guest on this planet so leave no trace - carry out what you carry in.

What a wonderful park!!! Anyone who says the bathrooms stink used the pit toilets by the beach, not the flush bathrooms around the office and campsites, which are very clean.
People have been coming here to camp for over 40 years! So make reservations! Sites are competitive, but you can now book 600 days in advance!
Bring cash for firewood and showers,
The park has a wood barn, and it is $5 *cash only* for a load.
Showers are quarter operated. There is a change machine on site. $2 will get you a 4 minute shower.
Also, the park is incredibly dog friendly. They ask that you leash and clean up after your dog and not let your pooch be a nuisance to your neighbors. Fair enough!
Quiet time is 10pm.
Be prepared to enjoy the prettiest beach in the Midwest and a hidden gem. (Beaches are golden and sandy!)
Check ferry prices before toting your RV over, as it is pricey.
The park is not affiliated with any boat rentals. If you want to rent a kayak or paddleboard, check out Adventure Vacations. Bog Lake outfitters also has self service canoes for rent at the beach, so bring cash for that as well. The lagoon is its own entire ecosystem and fascinating in its own right.
The town park is free to visit, and they happily take donations but do not charge admission.
This island is the spiritual homeplace of the Objibwe and you can feel the magic once you glimpse the lagoon and walk the boardwalk, if you are quiet enough to listen.

The park was pretty awesome. I hike a lot and it was unique! Fun to see Lake Superior on one side and the Lagoon (which is practically it’s own little lake) on the other side.
Quiet. Nice walking path. Not a ton to adventure off path wise in the State Park area but it was quite nice!

Howdy, beach lovers! I recently had the pleasure of basking in the sun and sand at the incredible Big Bay Town Park on Madeline Island, and let me tell ya, it was a beach paradise that stole my heart. This hidden gem offers a slice of pure bliss, with its pristine sandy shores and crystal-clear waters. The beach stretches for miles, providing ample space to spread out and soak up the sun. The water was refreshing and inviting, perfect for a dip to cool off from the summer heat. The surrounding nature was simply awe-inspiring, with lush greenery and gentle waves lapping the shoreline. The beach facilities were well-maintained, with picnic areas and grills that made it a perfect spot for a family outing or a beachside barbecue. The atmosphere was relaxed and serene, with the sound of seagulls and the gentle breeze creating a sense of tranquility. I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of peace and appreciation for the beauty of nature surrounding me. Whether you're looking to relax, swim, or simply marvel at the wonders of Lake Superior, Big Bay Town Park is a beach lover's dream come true. So grab your sunscreen, pack a picnic, and let the waves carry your worries away. It's time to embrace the beach life on Madeline Island. 🏖️🌊🌞

Seriously!
I am shocked by how wonderful my camping experience was at BBTP! The camp site was private, the facilities were clean, the lagoon was beautiful, and the camp host Sarah went above and beyond to make the experience PERFECT.
I will 100% be back and recommending this destination to my friends and family!

One of my favorite places to camp near the twin cities! My family has been coming here for the past 8 years and it’s always such an amazing experience. This year I spent a week at the town park with friends and it was my favorite year yet! Sarah the new camp host was so incredibly outgoing, sweet and accommodating. Her dog beans is just the cutest. I hope to see them both again next year as they made our trip this summer just that much better with how welcome we all felt!
Scenic park on Madeline Island with a Lake Superior beach & 7 miles of hiking & nature trails.
I visited this state park back in October 2020 and I wish that I could go back again. This park is one of two in Wisconsin located on an island, with the other being Rock Island in Door County. Madeline Island, the island that this park is located on, is one of the Apostle Islands and is the only one that is not federally protected. This park is stunning and offers many beautiful views of Lake Superior and is very quiet. When I went, I also caught a snowstorm passing by in the distance. This park is heavily underrated and I would love to visit this park again soon.

This state park is located in Madeline Island WI. We spent the whole day in the island. There is not much to do in this island, but if you are a beach lover and love hiking, this is one of the places you can enjoy the whole day. The beaches are super nice on a sunny day. Some beaches are Sandy while other beaches has nice rolling pebble stones. Luckily we take our car with us so it was easy for us to visit places in short time. It’s a big island. There are bikes or moped in the island to hire. Three of and the car cost is $80, and it’s worth considering the time spent on the island. E enjoyed the beaches in the Lake Superior.

Beautiful park with scenic trails. Boardwalk takes you between Lake Superior and the lagoon. You won't see too much wildlife. We only saw birds and squirrels. No movement on the lagoon from any wildlife. If you visit Madeline Island, the park is a must-see.

This is a beautiful state park that has quite a bit to do. Kayaking in the bay is perfect for kiddos as they can see the bottom. Kayaking along the shore was gorgeous. The trails are well kept. The campground and facilities were completely acceptable and quite clean. We will be returning.

Had a great Labor Day weekend at Big Bay.
Updated bathrooms and showers - very clean. Newer 50 AMP service sites were large and well maintained.
Ferry cost was $226 round trip for Truck & Camper. Hiking, kayaking, Beach and a lot of relaxing.
Todd Bavery — Google review
All the pics are from the bay itself. Nice campgrounds and some better views elsewhere in the park and on Madeline Island. Some good trails as well. Roundtrip on the Ferry is $48. Second time camping here. My only objection is the people in the local business are not very tourist friendly. If we have to eat or shop we do in Bayfield where they cater to tourists. The last pic says it all about the attitude on the island. Also skip Beach Club for food, nothing here but attitude.

I love Big Bay State Park - camping here is peaceful, especially late in the season. There are improvements being made to the pit toilets which will be a nice upgrade for campers. Thank you for separating the camp sites so that those that don’t want or need power don’t have to deal with the noise of RVs. Beautiful landscapes and trails. My only wish is that they would open up the boardwalk and beach to pets later in the season when it isn’t as busy. I’d be nice to let the dogs swim off leash on the beach.

There are many trails, breathtaking views, and a beach where you can relax by the waves of Lake Superior👏 Definitely worth the ferry trip over!

Such a fun park to get to and be at! There are such great beaches and trails, some wheelchair accessible. We camped and had plenty of room. The bathrooms and showers were good. The water and views are worth coming back for! But reminder to bring cash, food and fill your tank before heading over on the ferry.

Wow!! What a beautiful and well-maintained state park. We camped here for three nights recently. We loved our campsite and most of the campsites had at least some shade and privacy. It was also a fairly quiet campground (minus the annoying kid constantly bouncing a basketball) and it was very quiet at night. The vault toilets seemed new and were the cleanest and most well-maintained I’ve ever seen. The shower house was also very clean. The campground hosts as well as the rangers were friendly and helpful. Wood was available to purchase for campfires- $7 per bundle or 3 bundles for $20.
This state park offers amazing views of Lake Superior, and our 11 year old enjoyed cooling off at Barrier Beach. My husband and I loved the walk along the boardwalk and did this each day!
This is perhaps a spendier camping trip than most due to the fact that you have to take the ferry from Bayfield (it cost us $120 round trip for a family of 3 pulling a pop-up camper). However, the views and nature’s serenity were worth it to us.
Big Bay is definitely a campground we will visit again.

One of our absolute favorite places to camp. Beautiful trails, beaches and Madeline Island is beyond charming. Small campground but absolutely perfect if you want that remote camping experience
Aimee Hodorowski — Google review
Once I found out that I could camp on and island, I had to go. It was a very nice campground with new bathrooms. The boardwalk was very impressive too with great views of the lake and lagoon. There is a speed bump once you turn into the park that is a bit excessive so if you are on a motorcycle like I was, go around it. Or else it will scrape your undercarriage.

Really beautiful island itself. The Big Bay State Park has gorgeous viewpoints of Lake Superior. The water is so clear and beautiful. I came here for a few days and camped at the State Park as well. The trails are relatively easy. If you want to complete the full hike it is about 13 miles; however the best trails are definitely Bayview which is a trail on the coastline as well as Woods Trail which has beautiful mushrooms growing everywhere. Highly recommend checking out the State Park.
Copper Falls State Park is a picturesque nature retreat that showcases ancient lava flows, deep gorges and stunning waterfalls. The park offers a range of outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, biking and swimming. Visitors can explore the park's well-maintained trails which provide close access to the river and handicap accessible views of the falls. The charming log buildings dating back to the 1930s CCC era add to the timeless character of this scenic destination.
Love the two mile walk, there are lots of stars on the main trail. But viewing the falls are handicap accessible. There are other trails that are fun too, where you can get very close to the river, but the trails are not as well kept as the copper falls trail.
Campsights are spacious and great for a base to explore the state park.

The views at this park are absolutely stunning! My husband and I hiked over three miles. We enjoyed the beautiful waterfalls. We saw Brownstone Falls and Copper Falls. Later on we enjoyed the Candlelight Hike on the Red Granite Falls Trail.
We paid $8.00 for a day pass to get into the park. They offer a senior citizen discount so I asked about a veteran’s discount, but they do not offer one. Although the lady in the office asked my husband if he was a veteran that was 75% disabled or greater. I really don’t know if they offer an active service member or veteran’s discount.

I would definitely recommend this state park. There was two great trails. One as soon as you get into the park and the other towards the back. I like the gift shop. Bought some shirts and they sell ice cream. The bathrooms were nice and clean as well. Only 11 bucks to get in for a day pass.

Doughboys Trail is wonderful, easy, and always has something to look at. Beautiful scenery on the whole trail. We really enjoyed our time here. The visitor center/ gift shop was really good for a state park too!
Samantha Cummings — Google review
To date, this HAS to be my favorite state park to hike. The trails are wide, groomed very nicely, and easy to follow. The views are absolutely spectacular. I took over 120 photos in one visit! Next closest would be Devil's Lake, but that's over 4+ visits. The morning/ mid-morning sun was perfect for the views. Next time I hike Copper Falls, I want to go in Oct for more color. I bet it would be absolutely breathtaking.
The only thing I didn't like is the observation tower. The top of the tree canopy blocks any sort of view. I'm sure you can see quite a bit once all the leaves have fallen, but if there's a wind, it'll be COLD up there.
Eli S — Google review
The views are absolutely beautiful.
The mosquitos are horrible. Even though they are everywhere. MAKE SURE YOU BRING BUG SPRAY.
Do not bring a wagon or stroller. There are stairs.
The gift shop opens at 10a to 5p.
Definitely would do it again. Just would make sure not to bring a stroller and to make sure we had big spray on us the whole time.
Beautiful place to take a hike and have a picnic.
Playground is right off of the parking lot allowing easy access.

Bring bug spray!! Lots of it and west long sleeves and pants if possible. Mosquitoes are horrendous.
There's a little shop on your way in, but we didn't go in because it was busy.
There are so many breathtaking views!
The trails are extremely well maintained.
There are some difficult spots.... stairs. But for the most part, it was smooth going hike.
There was quite a few people but it didn't seem crowded.
The rocks!!! I'm a rock girl and the rocks had me amazed. I look for them like seashells. Some really pretty ones.
There are a lot of amenities at this state park. We were here mainly for the waterfalls.
It was one of multiple that we visited this day.

Absolutely breathtaking. The falls are gorgeous. I loved all the tall trees, mossy ground cover and pine needle covered trails. Such a peaceful place to reset away from the world. Wildlife galore, saw a gorgeous firey sunset. I can't wait to return in a spring or summer setting. It's sure to have it's own unique charm then, as it has in the fall. Great experience.

A beautiful spot tucked away in the Northern Wisconsin wilderness. A few quick trails lead to breathtaking falls carving their way through the forest.
High quality bug spray is downright required, as globulous swarms of mosquitos will carry away your firstborn with ease if given the opportunity.

If you are on the fence just do it. Great hikes. Well maintained park. Beautiful waterfalls.

Ridiculously not dog friendly. We had a poor experience here on an 85+ degree day. Our small very well behaved dog who is always at our side and us were treated poorly by staff. They said we need to leave him in the car. Absolutely not! They should sit in a car on a hot day while their family walks the trail. If you’re an animal lover, we suggest supporting other state parks. There’s a lovely trail and falls near by called Morgan Falls. Go there instead and bring all your fur babies!

Howdy, nature enthusiasts! I recently had the pleasure of exploring the breathtaking Copper Falls State Park in Mellen, Wisconsin, and let me tell ya, it was a true wilderness wonderland. This park offers a feast for the senses, with its stunning waterfalls, lush forests, and rugged beauty. The hiking trails were well-maintained and provided a variety of difficulty levels, catering to both beginners and seasoned adventurers. As I trekked through the park, I was in awe of the cascading waterfalls, their roaring sounds filling the air and creating a serene ambiance. The scenic overlooks offered breathtaking views, allowing me to truly appreciate the natural splendor of the area. The park facilities were clean and well-kept, with picnic areas and camping grounds that made it a perfect spot for a family outing or a weekend getaway. The park rangers were knowledgeable and friendly, providing helpful information about the park's history and guiding me to the best spots for wildlife sightings. If you're looking to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, Copper Falls State Park is an absolute must-visit. So lace up those hiking boots, grab your camera, and prepare to be mesmerized by the wonders of the Wisconsin wilderness. Happy trails! 🌲🏞️💦

Copper Falls State Park has to be one of the best State Parks in WI.
The campsites were large and easily assemble. Hiking trails and the falls were well maintained, nothing crazy, but really good views of the falls.

I wanted to ride the northern edge of MI along Lake Superior on a motorcycle. It was raining so much. 195 miles to the harbor. All rain. 190 miles back, mostly rain. 2 different routes. It was still a great ride with so much to see, even in the truck. Maybe next year on the bike. Copper Harbor is definitely a tourist haven!

This is a fantastic park! Several areas with spectacular views, wide trails, lots of picturesque places to stop and take in the amazing sights.
There is plenty of parking. Quite a few bathrooms spread out in different areas. Playgrounds, shelters, picnic tables, grills, a swimming beach, hiking trails, and lots of Pokestops and gyms for the Go players. There is a nice gift shop here that also has snacks like ice cream and candy, but no real food, unfortunately.
The one downside here is the horrible swarms of mosquitoes. It's B A D. There are only two other places in the state we've been to that have this big of a mosquito problem. We used three different repellents and re-coated ourselves several times, but it did NOTHING to deter them. Stop for a moment to snap a picture, and you'll have 50 on you.
That said, it is still well worth coming here. Mosquito bites fade, the memories will last a lifetime.

An amazingly beautiful piece of nature. (Winter visit). We chose to winter camp in order to be close to local ski areas. The park is gorgeous in the winter and incredibly peaceful. The snow muffles the outside sounds, and there are very few people around, so it is like having your own park. There are 6 camp sites that are plowed in winter to allow camping. Electric service is available at each. Pit toilets are kept open. Keep in mind that while the roads are plowed that there are snow banks that limit the width of the roads and sites. It makes backing into the campsites challenging. Single vehicles are fine. Our travel trailer took some work. Consider the size of your rig and orientation of the site when reserving. Huge shout out to the superintendent, Bob, who helped us get into our site, after dark, in a snowstorm, on a Saturday night. Staff like that turn a possibly bad situation into a fond memory.
Wow what a gorgeous place! Not busy at all, maybe 4 cars in parking lot. There’s two viewpoints(upper and lower) and both require going down then up many many MANY stairs. Doable for me even tho I’m not in the best shape. Anyways, these are big beautiful falls. Personally I didn’t make the trek down to the shore line for better photos but would go again to see. Worth the drive wherever you’re coming from

Waterfalls are nice, good for a daytrip or camp a few days. Quiet area, not very well sign posted, not many visitors. Very limited (five) free primitive camp sites, too many bugs and snakes in the woods, I visited week after Memorial day, 2023. Short trail to the upper falls and lots of steps down to the lower falls, with trails to the waters edge.

Very pretty. They are not exaggerating about the stairs though. Lots of them. Be prepared. It's worth it though.

THIS IS A MUST STOP!!! Although it lays out in the country it is the most amazing falls you will see. They have a loop parking lot and designated trails with signs to see the falls. When we went the falls was low but was still very pretty.(see attached pics). When visiting the lower falls be careful tho there is warnings about bees although we didn’t see any.

My kind of waterfalls. Nice parking with my rig. Campground and picnic shelter available. Well maintained board walks, stairs, and viewing platform. Very few visitors so really pleasant hike. 284 steps to falls.

This is an awesome hidden gem. There are a lot of stairs but it is definitely worth the walk to both the upper and lower falls. The lower falls trail has a lot more steps but make sure you go at least to the new boardwalk viewing area. That's probably the best shot of the falls.

Short hikes with lots of stairs take you to the upper and lower Potato River Falls. Both are impressive, the lower falls are larger but you can get closer to the upper falls.

Potato River Falls had multiple great scenes. There were over 130 stairs going to scenic overlooks of the falls. The stairs were nicely built, but still a lot of them. There was snow on the stairs, but we were able to make it up and down all right. There are lots of cool icicle formations on the falls.

Scenic views of lake superior, not cramped even though it was full, agate picking was good if your into that. Most all of the sites are level except for the one we were in, shy away from #15 unless you like to walk uphill to go to bed, it was to steep to even try to use leveling blocks, and I left the camper attached to my truck with brakes locked and tires chocked. This is a Very popular place and reservations are hard to get. Reservations are online only. It closes for the season on September 26th.

Such a quaint place, we ended here on a scenic byway and waterfall drive! There were several people looking for beautiful rocks, a couple of fires going on the beach and just some strolling while the sun was about to set. We built a fire and proceeded to watch the clouds and lake showoff their own beauty as another great day came to an end. Man the UP is simply amazing.

A rather nice park for families to visit, whether for a quick stop, a picnic, or a few days RVing or tent camping. There are shelters, bathrooms, playground equipment, and plenty of grassy space in which to gather and play. There are also park benches on which to relax and trails to help visitors explore the park and visit the shoreline on Lake Superior.
Watching the waves tumble in is enjoyable, and the rocky beach is pretty. The sound of the lake is soothing, but the occasionally loud crash of a wave reminds you that Superior can be fierce.

Lake Superior the greatest of the great lakes. Hard to believe it's a lake really. The beach is nothing like anything I have seen before. Best rock hounding beach. It begins by starting a beautiful drive towards lake Superior from Ironwood. The park itself has nice picnic grounds. It usually has a $5 fee but on Thursdays it's free. The suspension bridge funnels you down to a nice long beach full of large trees that have drifted up onto the beach. The walk up to rainbow falls is also quite worth it, the hike is 3/4 of a mile
Surrounded by beautiful trees along the way. You can either pay by check or cash only

Great place to visit. Don't go see the waterfall. Very poor trail, dangerously poorly maintained. It was 1 mile not 3/4 of a mile each way. Up And down a large hill. Use the trail on the main road. Everything else was great.
Copper Peak is a distinctive tourist attraction situated in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is the world's smallest ski flying hill that is homologated by the International Ski Federation (FIS). Visitors can reach the top of Copper Peak via a chairlift and elevator, where they can enjoy stunning vistas of the surrounding forest from a viewing deck.
We showed up right as the gift shop was closing. They let me in and got me a few bottles of water for our dogs, which was so kind of them to do! We didn't want to do the ride to the top, we just wanted to check the area out, and they told us we were more then welcome to do so. You can take a ride to the top of the jump during their open hours and get some really cool views of the fall colors and the area around here! One of these days I might have to do it. . .

Some of the most beautiful summer and fall views of Michigan's Upper Peninsula can be seen from this historic location. The ski lift ride-up is easy to load and extremely fun. Looking forward to going back after the supposed redevelopment project is completed. Making this the world’s longest ski jumping sites. According to the International Ski Federation. Very excited to watch the ski jumping training and events in the winter too.

On a clear day, you can see forever. Looking forward to the day, when it has been restored for its intended purpose: ski flying competitions. If you're prone to fear of heights, this is not for you. For the adventurous, this is truly the attraction. From the chairlift ride up to the main structure. Breath-taking! You then have the choice of walking up the slide itself or taking the elevator. Awesome!
AJ Franck — Google review
Biggest ski jump in the world. The view from the top is lovely especially in the fall. $25 for an adult ticket. Kids are free I think. You take an elevator up to the top of the jump after the lift ride, then walk up a few flights to get to the very top. The information placards are on the first observation deck right out of the elevator.
NomadShabs — Google review
What a view! I have skied at the local hills around Wakefield and Bessemer and could see this thing sticking out of the landscape. Very intimidating for some.....couldn't get out of the elevator shaft. Super fun and heard that they might be restoring the jump to its former glory. Definitely recommend stopping for a truly unique view of the UP. Although fall might be the most colorful I believe any time of the year would be a good look.
Colin Piaskowski (HTA Colin) — Google review
I cannot say enough how incredible this view was. Just going up the ski jump alone was an adventure. It definitely gives perspective on ski jumping. You take a quick ride up a ski lift, then a short walk to the bottom of the ski jump. Take the elevator 18 stories up and you exit to a room that opens up to a fenced in platform-that's where my pics are from. You can then take 8 flights of stairs up the ski ramp to the very top.

Such a great way to see multiple mountains at once in the U.P.! Take a chairlift, to an elevator, then some stairs, and you get an amazing panoramic view. The staff are also very friendly! (Also, make sure to check out the stars there at night!)

I definitely recommend coming here! So fun and beautiful! If your afraid of heights though I wouldn't advise doing this. There's a ski lift that brings you up to the top of the peak and then you have to either walk up steps, and if you look down through the steps the trees look like broccoli, or go up in an elevator. But even if you do use the elevator there's still a couple flights of stairs you have to walk to get to the very top. The view is worth it though!

This was an amazing experience resulting in an amazing view of the area and it’s all for a great cause. Workers were all very friendly and operation was well ran. Chairlift up the mountain is beautiful and the view from the observation deck was unbelievable. My daughter and I walked to the very top, where it was amazing to be able to see down the hill and for 360° for miles on end. Great family experience.

We took a recommendation to visit here. It was very interesting about the old ski jumping/flying days. The structure is to large for the type of ski jumping done today. Today was one of the nicest day with a temp of 80 degrees for the end of September. Very unusual. The tree colors ar now at peak. Unbelievable the color. We rode the ski lift up to the base od the jump. Then up the elevator to the observation deck. You can also walk up the stairs 8 flights to the very top. The best views and you can see Lake Superior 5 miles away. We also walked the whole way down the ramp. You can take the elevator back to the ski lift.

Beautiful stop thats worth admission. Little scary at the top of the jump but amazing views!

Breathtaking views. Definitely worth the three hour trip we made. The leaves were absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend if you haven't been there.

This was the perfect “day date”. Truly one of the best scenic views of all time. There was no wait… a small walk once off the ski lift to the elevator. The staff was welcoming and inviting!! Would highly recommend!!

Great detour for us. 25$ to ride a chair lift, 180 feet up in an elevator then another 8 stories of steps to the top. Could make your legs weak but what a view of the area. The tallest ski jump and only one on the western hemisphere. Not crowded at all but then that was the best Pat.

Great views from atop the ski jump!! Chair lift up the hill followed by a short walk to the elevator that takes you up to the viewing deck. A few flights of stairs to the tip top. Very senic!

Absolutely unreal. Leave all your fears at the base, and get your butt to the tippy top via stairs for the most amazing views of your life! You'll feel like you're flying, or Eddie the Eagle. I hope they get the grant sorted to make improvements to bring it alive again.
Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Michigan is the perfect place to start your skiing or snowboarding journey regardless of skill level. The resort offers lessons and packages starting at $65 for skiing and $75 for snowboarding. With 250 acres of ski terrain, a vertical drop of 622 feet, and 45 trails serviced by nine chairlifts, this ski resort is suitable for all abilities.
Excellent ski resort..our family loved it here! My grandkids were both first time 🎿 skiing and the staff here was accommodating slowing the lift as they got on and off, making sure the kids were taken care of..the place was perfect for beginners to advanced skiing. A food option was nice to have...and a gift shop for memories to take home.

Fantastically run, family friendly ski resort - where the friendliness of the staff really stands out, especially the lift operators! Some wonderful lodging options, well groomed runs and a great setting - all at a very good price!

My opinion of this place in the past.....it was not my favorite, but since blackjack and indianhead are under new ownership, and are upity upity now. This IS the place to be. Atmosphere is inviting and chill. The people are awesome and the lodge is rustic. Bloody was delicious the hill has fast, slow, and intermediate options. Its pretty sweet here.

Very nice place to ski. The lodge and dining areas are quite clean. I have never had an issue with the staff here; they are super friendly whether they are at the front desk or they are in the kitchen. A variety of trails exist here for those learning or experienced on the slopes. My only wish is that I could be here more often. =)

Had good snow late season. All the staff were great. Very polite from the cafeteria to ski patrol to lift operators. During my stay I didn't run into one bad attitude. Runs were groomed well from top to bottom. Had fresh snow coming down that added to everything. Beautiful scenery and great runs.

Visiting all three hills in the area, Powderhorn is the nicest facility. Lunch was quite a bit cheaper than the other two. Only truly ski in/out lodging in the area. Some of the runs are a little flat for me but the glade runs on the right side of the mountain were pretty fun. Will definitely be back. Would be nice if they had winter camping spots. Was nice we could ski right to the parking lot and got lucky with a front spot for the van.

Do not book here. We booked a house on the hill 11 months ago. 2 hours before we check in ( from Florida) they tell me the house is not available. They ended up giving us a different house, with a completely different set up, not even on the hill. And tried to tell us it was an upgrade. Never offered a discount for the inconvenience. We booked a house with a Sauna and an arcade game for the kids. We didn’t get either. Never booked here again. No master bedroom either.
We stopped in with friends on the pumpkin run and the place didn't disappoint. The building itself isn't too much to look at... However, the inside is quite charming. Nice bar nestled into a warmly decorated room with a spectacular view. They have a small deck that offers an easy trip down to the lake side where we sat for a moment and took in the scenery. Our drinks were good and decently priced and the cheese curds and chicken steps l strips were good as well. Overall, a great place to stop in when given the chance and the staff was friendly and attentive.

Stopped at Bear Chaser's Bar & Grill on the snowmobiles and love this place. Haven't been here for years but the service was fabulous and the pizza was delicious. Probably could split it between 3-4 people next time.

Ugh.
We came from Willy's because Willy's doesn't do food right now. At Willy's it was a super fun atmosphere, bar games, music, etc. etc. and then got to Bear Chaser's and it was like going to a funeral in comparison.
The food was good. No complaints there at all, and the owner is clearly trying to make this a place.. but the overall atmosphere was just dead. The server didn't seem like she wanted to be there, when trying to make small-talk, she looked at us as if we were aliens.. I mean, I get that they have a difficult, busy job.. but to have come from Willy's to here was a culture shock.
I REALLY hope they can make this place a destination.. but Willy's was packed until 2-3am, and Bear Chaser's was empty by 7. And there's a reason for that.
We wound up at Willy's every night and only went to Bear Chaser's once. We probably spent around $1000 at Willy's, and $100 at Bear Chaser's.
I really hope the owner reads this and doesn't take offense to it, because I mean no offense by it.
Their food was way better than average bar food, but good bar food in a morgue like atmosphere doesn't do anything for most people.
We will be back, though, and I REALLY would love to see the place hopping.. and they have a perfect opportunity right now to make a name for themselves since Willy's isn't doing food.

Still the best rods on earth, but not the service to back it up at the store.
We are up north in Iron River on vacation and decided to make the hour and a half drive to the St Croix store. I had heard such good things about it from other friends that it seemed worth the drive. Definitely wish we had those 3 hours back. We walked in, we’re kindly greeted, and then completely ignored. Never asked if we had any questions or if they could help in any way. My son and I left 20 minutes later with no fishing rods in hand and soured on our St Croix experience. Still great rods but I can’t say more than that.

I came back from Afghanistan in 2012 and always had my sights set on getting a St Croix fishing rod. I decided to pull the trigger on a Premier and since then, I’ve been a loyal fanatic. I now own about a dozen St Croix’s of various models and this last summer (2023) I was nostalgically able to hand that same Premier rod down to my son. I had never been to the factory store until today. It was a dream come true. Not only did I receive a military discount, I received the best and nicest customer service I have ever come across in my 35 years of life. You had a life long fan with me, but you all gained a family of life long fans after seeing my other child, my daughter, wear her hat the entire trip home to Green Bay. You’re entire company is perfection, keep up the amazing work.

A northern Wisconsin destination. If you like to fish this is a must stop! I’ve used St.Croix rods for over 30 years and am a big fan. I will say last time I was in the younger gentleman working wasn’t very attentive or helpful, maybe he was having an off day. This doesn’t change my opinion this is still a 5 star stop.

A St Croix fly rod I purchased for a 6 day pike fly fishing trip to Canada broke on a fish, on the first day. Although that was disappointing, when I contacted St. Croix they quickly replaced it for a $100 fee.
Robert Noirjean — Google review
We took the tour with "Ken" and it last about 90 minutes. A fantastic experience if you like factory tours. They take you from step one the a finished rod, which touches over 30 hands before it's complete. Now I understand why these rods demand such high prices. High quality that will last you a long time!
In regards to the store, they have great workers that can answer any question you have about the type of rod you need and how to use it. The warranty is also top notch. Worth a drive over from Hayward if you are staying there!

Similar to the common theme expressed by others, this company hides behind automated phone and email systems. They are happy to take your money, but will not provide status, answer their phones or return emails. I placed an order with G Loomis after this order and that order was processed and status provided in 24 hours.
This was my first time ordering from St. Croix and can rest assured, will be my last. Note to management, it’s much more effective to keep a customer than find new ones. Your failure is just another’s gain.
Scott Walston — Google review
First time there. Drove 1 hour to check it out. Heard they had a factory seconds section for rods which interested us. They were barely discounted in my opinion. Many had very visible defects that were barely discounted. Lure selection was decent and those prices were fair.
K — Google review
Awesome place to pick up some new gear! Check out the "Retired" section! Good deals on great rods and combos! However, get there early in the day. They close early, check hours before going.
The best part is the overlook from the suspension bridge. The kettles in the falls are simply amazing. You can see varying features of the falls and river depending on the water level and flow. Start at the very back parking lot and work your way forward. This is definitely the place where you want to est dessert first, because these are the crown jewels of the Presque Isle River. When trying to arrive here, put in the suspension bridge for correct directions. These are a heavily visited area, so be prepared for crowds and people. Dogs are allowed on the trails with leases.

I'll never travel to Minocqua without this trip planner again
My dad was a private pilot, but hadn't been up in a small plane for years. Bill made his day! He gave us a phenomenal tour of the Wisconsin Northwoods, upper peninsula of Michigan, and the Lake Superior shoreline. He is professional, personable, knowledgeable about the area and history, and most importantly, an expert pilot. It was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to going up with Bill again!

This whole experience was amazing. Bill was friendly and made the entire experience simple and easy. He called us before he took off, which gave us ample time to prepare for his arrival, and picked us up right on time. Bill is a great person to talk to and there was never a doubt in anything that he did. I would highly recommend Bill and his service to anyone.

Can't think of a better place to spend a weekend away!!! My husband and I took a weekend getaway and stayed in their cabins which are quite lovely I might add. The cabins are very affordable and had more than enough room with a miraculous view of the lake. Very secluded and peaceful. We also took a scenic flight with Bill Lauer and got sight of waterfalls, Lake Superior, and also the history of the land. An experience I will never forget. Their motto really says it all; 'Come as guests, leave as friends.' Already in the process of booking our next vacation with this lovely couple!!

This place is awesome. Start at the Nook and check out the turtles, bats, skulls, etc. Give a bit of cash, we left $5 initially but after we visited the lake and paddled out in the free canoe with my daughters using free push-button rods from the classroom to catch the biggest bluegill I've ever seen we went back and added another $20 to the donation box.
The swimming dock is brand new and beautiful, the bottom is sandy and the floating platform is great. They have maybe 8 large canoes, 2 sit-on-top kayaks and a single sit-inside yak. They also have a paddle boat that was a ton of fun.

What a wonderful state park! Right on Lake Gogebic with campsites backing up to it. The ranger was super helpful. He told me my site I picked out had a ditch the ran through the middle of it and suggested 2 others that had just opened up right on the lake. Score! He even hurried back to change my reservation before it was taken!

We really liked this campground it felt small, but had over 100 sites. Several of them had electric in quite a few were right on the lake. It is a quiet campground with not a lot of Organized activities to do. there is a playground picnic shelter, boat launch and basketball area. While we were there, there was a large group with well over 300 people at it in the campground never felt packed. There is a nice beach area, but the grassy area, the sand and in the water was covered with goose poop. The staff and camp host are all very nice.

Very nice park....very quite, and clean campground. The sites are close together but it wasn't hardly half occupied so that wasn't a problem. Nice view of the lake from most sites too.

Have stayed there twice now for over a week each time, and only have great things to say! Staff are wonderful, bathrooms are clean, sites are large and well maintained (from a tent-er's point of view), and the park and views are just fantastic. Centrally located for many of the western UP and northern Wisconsin attractions.

Only one in the park on may 5/6. A week to early for water and showers (I think?) but always bring my own so I never miss morning coffee. Ranger did come by to see if I needed any, which was pretty cool.

Very nice and clean campground, clean restrooms and spacious sites. Geese are an issue, and many sites are not very level. Nice beach, with great boat launch with ample parking. Friendly staff and rangers!

Pleasantly surprised at how great this spot was for how crowded it appeared to be before booking. It’s very family-oriented, and my wife and I prefer secluded/ private campsites, but in a pinch this was really perfect.
We were on the north side of the campground on the lake, which offered a cool little path right down to the water for fishing or enjoying the sunset.
Taking one star off because off how crowded things were. Again, normally not an issue, but there were a number of dogs off leash, kids biking around and around on the road path, and louder groups.
Recommended spot for large crews and big families or if needed in a pinch on your travels.

Surprising quiet! Everyone typically goes to bed around 11-midnight. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Fogger/ mosquito repellent is a must have! Very dog friendly, lots of people bring their dogs. Best part is the lake is only a stones throw away from any campsite.

The sites are not level that are located on the lake side. The bathrooms are old but fairly clean. It is located on main road so there is some road noise. The grounds are well kept. Big beach area but not much of a playground area for children.
Subdued rooms & suites in a waterside venue with a 24-hour casino, a convention center & dining.
The restaurant is absolutely fabulous. Delicious shrimps, steak and we bought add on crab legs which were so good. Excellent wait staff. The hotel desk Mgr was very good, even though we couldn'tget a room as it was full. The casino has a great amount of different games. I love the glowing glob for getting a new card, such a fun way to getting a replacement card. Very clean. Too bad we live hour and a half away.

Our stay was decent but could have been better. The hotel room was clean but extremely dated and didn’t have most of the accommodations you expect at a hotel, like a microwave. The coffee pot was in the bathroom which I thought was odd. The bed wasn’t very comfortable. The halls and elevator areas looked very dated as well; definitely needs some updates. Crummy cabinets and furniture placed randomly in different spots just made it look sloppy. The main reception area was really nice and our room’s view overlooking the lake was beautiful. The casino was disappointing; only slot machines and a couple of blackjack tables. I had read on Discover Wisconsin that they had roulette but apparently they don’t have it anymore so there was nothing really for me there except to put money in a machine and hit a button until it was all gone.
Jess H. — Google review
The casino is small but has a good variety of machines. The rooms really need updating. The food is limited. We ate at the buffet which was terrible. My husband only had the salad bar and got severe food poisoning. It was awful. Severe vomiting and stomach pain. We were spending the night and had to get up at 5am and go home. He vomited lettuce and everything from the salad bar for half the day before it passed. Awful experience. I like the casino but will never eat there again. The entire buffet looked pathetic and there is no where around the area to go eat so it would be nice if they had decent food. Probably won’t return. There are other casinos around with much nicer rooms and good food.

Been here before, nice casino just wish I could win something one of these times. Hope the wife does.
Nice facility, first time staying. The rooms would have gotten a 5 but we were on a lower level and there is no NONE sound proofing in the floor between rooms resulting in time to wake up as soon as the upstairs neighbors walked across the floor for the first time and our made many trips along with not being lite on their feet.

Decided to go for Saturday night seafood buffet. What a mistake. Everything I sampled was horrible. The crab legs were small, they had been soaked and the legs were hard to crack, they mostly just bent over, very little meat for the effort. Cold shrimp were overcooked and tasteless, muscles not worth the effort, escarole hard to get meat out, not much flavor, oysters, well I love oysters but was skeptical about trying them, not many oyster beds in the north woods. Roast beef was cooked the way I like it but it was tough and chewy, along with cut paper thin…everything else on the buffet was typical fare, soup, especially the mushroom soup was not good, didn’t try the clam chowder…the salad is probably the best thing on the menu. I certainly will not be going back for this overpriced disaster….Action in the casino was on par with the buffet…..

I used to really enjoy coming here but that enjoyment is gone. The gaming experience is so terrible that the average person can't play on $500 betting $1.50 on average for no more than 2 hours. Most machines are 8+ spins before your first win. On this most recent visit, I played $100 through a machine at $1.35 per spin. I had 1 win of $13.40. That was the only spin in nearly 100 where I won my bet back. That's unacceptable! I document my wins and losses on every machine every time I come. The average payback is just over 23%. Now, I can guarantee that if this gets a response it will be a standard cut and paste reply. "Everyone's gaming experience is different. We meet similar payouts to other casinos in the state". Then why do you pay the fine to the state every month rather than meet the minimum requirements set by the state? The food has gone to heck, the ATM charges you money, and the gaming experience stinks? Why would anyone want to come back? Guess I'll take my $15,000 in yearly gambling expenses and go elsewhere. Because I can promise this casino will never see another cent!

Stayed here last weekend. The place, including our hotel room, was extremely clean! Staff is friendly; food is great; drinks at on-site Woody's are the best, especially their brandy old fashions (and reasonably-priced)! They'll certainly be our stop in Wisconsin's northwoods - Good job!

This casino is clean and smoke free. I frequently see staff cleaning.
The parking lot has security.
The deck overlooking the lake, off the lodge, is a relaxing place to fetch a gorgeous sunset. The lobby has a beautiful fireplace and rustic feel with comfy chairs and couches.

The hotel was perfect. The buffet was expensive for what they serve. The casino was just awful played .minimum bet all night and people next to us were feeling the same way. Just dead spin after another other people were saying someone should call the gaming commission and report them. If your smart just go to the pool dontput money in there slots. And really you get on there website and see them living about 30 million dollars that people won in a month serious how stupid do you think people are if that's true how much are people losing????

We've been to the "Lake of the Torches" multiple times. It's about a four hour drive from us in the Milwaukee area.
We really like the casino. It's clean and well lit. A very good selection of both slots and video poker machines. A handful of table games.
We enjoy the food from both restaurants. We also enjoy the pool area which includes a whirl pool and sauna.
What we do NOT like is the consistently RUDE service we always receive from the front desk ladies at the hotel. They are always rude and just plain mean. The one guy we've dealt with ("Jacob" perhaps?) is at least professional to deal with.
For the second time in a row we were treated rudely when we called to reserve our room. When we arrived to check in, the lady at the hotel desk snapped at us and was rude. Then we were treated rudely when we check out by a different lady two days later. What is the problem with you hotel front desk workers / management? It's a serious problem you seem to have.
Additionally the hotel bed are horrendous. They are hard as rocks. It is literally painful to sleep there two nights in a row. We just couldn't handle sleeping there another night.
It is a shame because we really like this casino. But we're not going to give a casino our hard earned cash and "action" when the "resort" staff treats you like they hate you.
Plenty of other casinos would love to have our (and your) action.

Loved playing slots and enjoying it. Usually I don't go in but seeing it recently, I love what they did to it just recently with some or all of it. Gambling there was exciting amd relaxing because of what they did to the place. Can't wait see how it looks in the near future when they decide to upgrade anything again.
This is one of my favorite places. It’s a total winter wonderland and a great place to spend a day or weekend xc skiing or snowshoeing.
The trail system is so extensive that even on a busy day, you can still find yourself skiing alone. They do a great job grooming the trails and maintaining the parking lot. The chalet is cozy and comfortable for breaks. Definitely recommend.

Awesome Setup & Awesome Volunteer Crew! You sure know how to make folks feel welcome. The warm hearted atmosphere sure shows and the place is very well cared for and that shows!

This was my favorite place I went in the Northwoods this winter. Amazing snow shoeing, great staff and absolutely free to visit. Nothing compares to how wonderful and joyful the Winter Park is.

One of the best Nordic ski areas I’ve ever been to. We love going in the winter and are excited to try the new summer additions like the bike trails starting at the top of squirrel hill and the disc golf course.

Very good trails for cross country skiing. We are beginners and really had fun as they have trails for all kinds of levels. Staffs helpful in getting us right shoes and skis.the place is pet friendly and they do have tubing for both adults and kids( tickets sold separately ) They do have food but limited( good enough to keep you going).

Very friendly team working the chalet! You can rent and purchase Cross Country Skis. There is a tubing hill that is great for a day out and lots of trails for hiking, snow-shoeing and X Country! If you like to play outside, give Minocqua Winter Park a visit!!

I have never been to Minocqua before. Beautiful area!! My husband and I went Oct. 2022, and the tree colors were peaking, it was gorgeous 🥰!
I live in Wisconsin,so I see this every year, but every location has it's own beauty! Minocqua/Winter Park was awesome. Is like to return one day 😎

I’ve been coming here since I was young and I love what they have done to expand the snowshoe trails! The park is absolutely gorgeous. Worth the 2 hour drive and trail pass any day.

Checkout the new and improved bike trail! Takes you to the top of Squirrel Hill for great vistas and then after a few switchbacks you are back in the parking lot

Staff is very friendly. Went on the winter moon light walk and it was really nice. And they have a well stocked rental in ski shop.
Their house-battered cheese curds, onion rings, and mushrooms were so delicious. Paired with the house-made chipotle ranch, I stuffed myself before I had a chance to try my blackened walleye BLT and their house-smoked brisket. I’m no foodies, but I do love a great meal and this one clearly was made by a kitchen that loves what they do. The bartender, Carly Jo, and badass GM, Krysal, we’re there to chat with and made us feel super welcome. It’s fishing opener this weekend so the customers at the bar were more than happy to talk about where they were from and give me their opinion on if it was going to be a good weekend or not. Super clean, friendly, and excellent service.

The shrimp chowder alone is worth the trip.
We had the brisket sandwich and fish fry. Sooo good. The service was fantastic!

As busy as it was on memorial day weekend and only having 1 bartender who did the best she could with her pleasant cheerful attitude was happy with her service... on the other hand the waitress who had the worst attitude I have seen in staff services is the reason all 8 of us walked out upset maybe who ever is in charge should think about adding some help on a busy weekend

Absolutely amazing place to eat and grab drinks! COD was so buttery and amazing, the GODDESS wrap was to die for and we were taken care of so well! Awesome time and will ALWAYS come here! YOU SHOULD TOO!

Boulder Beer Bar has a very friendly atmosphere, plus the great food! Best pizza and nachos in the north woods!!!!
You will be sorry if you don't give it a try!!!

The atmosphere was great, food was delicious and staff was exceptional! First time visiting and we will definitely make it our "must stop" places to eat when in the north woods.

The restaurant was very busy and should have had more help. However, the one server they had was great. She was able to take orders quickly and get drinks served quickly. To help her out the chef was delivering the food. The food tasted very good.

We love this place. We stop in for a round of drinks on the way to Watersmeet every time we visit friends there. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, as are the staff. The prices are very nice. Yesterday, we found out about the take-n-bake pizzas and, since we knew we'd arrive at our friend's cabin too late to cook and too late to go out somewhere, the pizzas sounded like a good idea. And they were great!

Best wings I’ve ever had! Fresh, meaty, no breading, great sauce. Grilled salad was great.
Summertime outdoor shrimp and Tacos are fantastic! Good selection of micro brews.

Very pricey. The staff was friendly. The food was good. The atmosphere is cozy.
Zoo with rides, a fish pond, animal feeding encounters & a 168-acre safari park with a tram.
We hadn't brought the kids to the park since they were five. We weren't sure teenagers would think it was fun, but the park expansion is impressive. The safari is well done and entertaining. Feeding the giraffes was fun and seeing the new baby giraffe was a treat. A great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

This is quite the unusual zoo & I mean that in a good way! This zoo is a little more interactive than a traditional zoo. When you first walk in you are greeted by goats, baby goats, turtles, & bunnies. You can feed them, pet them, & play with them. You also walk through the deer exhibit where my daughter's got to pet a newborn fawn & feed the deer inside. The entire family also got to feed the giraffes! You could also feed parakeets & they have a tram that takes you through the African exhibit where the animals will walk right up to the tram & greet you. Unlike many zoos all the animals were up & active in the middle of the day & didn't seem upset with having people around. My kids loved the experience & I also had a lot of fun.
Shane Howard — Google review
This zoo has it all! From your basic goats and ducks to zebras and bongos.
Bring cash and quarters if you want to feed the critters; there are feed dispensers throughout the park. Friendly whitetail deer roam free and inside the aviary you can purchase sticks of birdseed to feed the colorful little birds. For $5 you can feed carrots to the giraffes, which our 2.5 year old loved!
You do have to pay to get on the safari tram to see the zebras (and several other species), but the $10/person was worth it to us. Overall, a bit pricey but we spent a few hours there and easily could have spent the whole day there.

Absolutely fantastic definitely one of the best zoos I have ever been to. My fiancé and I really enjoyed this zoo. It had a ton of different kinds of animals, all with really nice enclosures. There were many chances to personally interact with animals. A bunch of goats at the beginning just roaming around. A dear looking thing that also just roams happy to eat out of your hand.
I was really surprised at the variety of animals on display for a private zoo. They had animals I've only seen at big zoos and all the enclosures looked really nice and clean. The pathways are one thing to be mindful of. They are like a gravel mix and when it's been raining the ground will have some puddles so wear a rain boot or something. The tickets were also a little pricey but this zoo was worth it. I also highly recommend buying at least one bag of food for the multiple animals willing to eat it.
Molacko Wescott — Google review
Excellent zoo to take family too! They offer bird, giraffe, trout, koi and deer feeding. Listening to the monkeys was our favorite.
Wagon rentals are available. Food and beverage are allowed as carry-ins (picnic area available).
The whole park may not be accessible by wheelchair due to terrain.
If you want to return a second day, it is half price.
Pam W — Google review
Was brought here 20 years ago as a kid so just had to bring my own kid back. I remember there being way more deer and goats to feed who were eager to gobble up what you had. Today we bought two bags of food and pretty much left with 1.5 bags of food...perhaps nobody was hungry after labor day weekend?
Also remember giving a bear a bottle of soda but must have been done away with?
Lots of animals. And huge... was not disappointed. If I was forced to complain about anything I'd say the intelligent birds (cockatoo) need a buddy for companionship.
BY FAR the hit of the whole dang zoo for a 3.5 year old was the bunnies. And they didn't bite either :)
Spent a good 4 hours here and probably could have stayed longer if it wasn't closing. Would definitely come back.
Rachel Frank — Google review
I loved being able to interact with some of the animals. They are well taken care of and it is very clean! However a bucket of carrots for the giraffes is not a bucket. It is a very small drinking cup with a few shaved slivers of carrots. Just be honest don't call it a bucket!
Only cash within the park. Which kind of sucks when you realize how quick things add up at concessions and such.
Concession prices aren't the worst, but soda machine...$3.50 for bottle of pop...
Admission is kinda high...$91 for 3 adults 1 child...before anything else. It was a fun day, good occasional place go due to cost.

Great time with the family! The kids get hooked right when you walk in. There are free range, friendly goats and a rabbit petting area. There are multiple routes to take so avoiding large groups and still getting to see everything is easy enough. The only 2 things that would keep me from giving this 5 stars are as follows. It would have been more enjoyable pushing our stroller around if at least the main paths had been paved. The gravel was compacted well enough that it wasn't terrible. Second, it's cash only for the tram ride thru the safari. I had cash on this particular day but if I hadn't we would have had to walk back to the ATM to get some. For the strictly non cash carrying folks out there this may pose a slight issue. The tram ride was fun and very educational so I'd highly recommend it. Overall great experience!

Really fun place! Very easy place to walk. Lots of different animals and things to do. Loved feeding the giraffes. The Siberian tigers and leopards and lynx and pumas and bobcats were really great to see. Lots of different birds and reptiles. And you get to feed baby goats. It's got everything. Ran out of time so didn't get to take the safari tram tour so that will be next time!

Great place to take your family for the day. If you want tostop half way through and get a bottle of soda or water it is $3.00 in machine. It is pricey to get in and for drinks but I just reminded myself all the animals they need to feed all year long. Everything they have to see there I felt the price to get in was good. Soda machine prices I felt it was a bit high. I would like to see more donation buckets and machine prices lowered.

Decent sized zoo. It's a good couple hour time killer for sure. goats and deer in the open for people to get pretty close to is a nice touch. The downside is this place is extremely expensive. It's $25 for adults and $16 for kids. I understand they are a private zoo and need to raise money anyway they can. We paid $5 for a bag of food for the animals which was really about .50$ worth and should probably been priced closer to $2. The walk in bird area is nice but you pay $3 for a small popsicle stick of food. I get it's private just very expensive for a family to go for a few hours.

Aside from losing my car keys (lol!), it was a great zoo. So fun for the kids. The animal feed might not be worth it. If so, just 1 bag. The animals are fed that stuff all day, so when we got there (which was around 9:45am) the goats weren't too interested in eating it. I'd recommend just bringing some quarters for the random feed stands spread around the zoo. It didn't take away from the experience because the kids still loved petting them.
Also, the parakeets are a lot of fun. It was a big hit with our family.

We really enjoyed the zoo. So many beautiful animals to see. The animals looked well cared for and the areas which housed the animals were clean. I would definitely go again.

This is a really nice zoo. Lots of animals to see. The animal enclosures were nice & set up so even if the animals were sleeping you could still see them.
It is a little pricey, $25 per adult & then if you want to do extras like feed the giraffes there is an additional fee. Great place to spend an afternoon

One of our absolute fav zoos in WI! A must see if you're in the area! Don't miss out on feeding the birds, a family favorite for us! My boys also love feeding the deer that are casually hanging out. Lots to see! FYI: once you enter the zoo, everything is CASH ONLY (safari train, giraffe/bird feeding, concessions).

It's been fun watching this place grow over the last 14+ years. What was more of a small two yard attraction has really blossomed into something more robust and true to scale for small city, not little town, zoos.

This was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had at a zoo. Getting to feed and pet so many different animals was amazing! The safari tour was beautiful, and the driver was very knowledgeable and kind. The animals all seem to be very well cared for, and their enclosures looked to be kept incredibly clean. So many different species to see and learn about! Highly recommend!
Bravo! We saw Tommy O first at one of his Tuesday night performances at Indian Shores and then booked one of his regular theatre nights in Hazelhurst. What a brilliant voice! We saw the show called "Broadway" Definitely recommend. It's a bit of a drive from many places up north, but really worth it.

Great Company to do business with. Good Luck on any and all future events and performances.
A true gem of the north woods. This is a challenging yet gorgeous example of great golf course architecture. There are a few tee shots that are visually striking, where you can’t help but stop and gaze. The course is well taken care of and played great despite the cold October conditions.
Timmothy Merath — Google review
I like the course and have played it many times. This year, 2023, I was fairly disappointed. Some of the fairways are in poor shape (lots of crab grass and some dead spots); this shouldn't be the case since they are charging a premium price. In addition, they are no longer offering pull carts. This forces you to pay extra for a riding cart. It is a great place to play, but Timber Ridge or Lac Vieux Desert 2 golf course are a much better value.
Eric Vallee — Google review
I was up north for the weekend and I wanted to go golfing so me and a few friends went to play 18 holes. I was no aware that 5-6 holes you had to putt on the fairway. They still charged full price for the day definitely was not happy with the outcome.

Golfed here last Summer and plan to again each time we come up to the Northwoods. This is a beautiful course; each hole is enveloped in lovely pine trees, the grounds are very well maintained, and the greens are just the right speed. The staff are also helpful and friendly. I also gotta say, the price to play is a bargain for what you get.

Absolutely a gorgeous and enjoyable course to play golf... probably my favorite in the North woods. Fun for all levels, but long and challenging enough for skilled players. Several visually stunning holes, particularly on the front nine. Course conditions were great when we played (Memorial Day weekend). DO NOT listen to the one-star reviews on Google and miss the opportunity to play this course. Sorry they had a bad experience, but if you love classic north woods golf, this is your course.

Great service. The staff is very kind and really makes it fun. From checkin staff, to the jokester starter and Mulligans at the turn you are in great hands. Have a Chicken Salad at the turn! The course is well tended to and a good challenge. Try it, I think you will find a great up North experience. .

We played this course 6/13-20. The course was beautiful and well maintained! Staff at the club house and starter were friendly. With this said it is not likely our group will play this course again due to the “Ranger” and his rudeness. We had two groups of 4 every time we got to the tee box we could see the group ahead of us but he claimed we were sitting on the tee box for 10 minutes. He continued to hassle us the rest of the course. For the price we paid to enjoy the day golfing the treatment we received was unwarranted. This made our experience less enjoyable.

Fairways, greens and traps all in great condition. Peak season rate of $83 incl tax just a bit too much. Give in state seniors a break.

The bar is great, the waitress was awesome and we had the Perch fishfry, it was delicious! Would recommend this place if you are in the Northwoods!

We came in as a group of 16+ snowmobiles around 4pm and when we took a table to sit the waitress came over to inform us they may ask us to move since they need the space for people eating.. its not like we weren't paying customers, and the place was packed so there wasn't standing space either. Our group clustered around one 8person table in the back corner by the coat rack/bathrooms/ATM and we still got grief from her about it. We wouldn't have stopped had we known how we'd be treated.

Great Place to eat and has been for many years. Service is pretty good and it’s a good atmosphere. The only thing bad I can say about it is that I was refused to be seated because they were to busy. Not a lot of seating.

We sat outside here on a holiday weekend as they have a well constructed outdoor covered porch with comfortable chairs. It's also on the water. Cold beers, good prices and fast, friendly service. We did not eat here but plenty of people were as they stopped by (on ATV route).

The food at Boomba Bar and Grill is always excellent! My personal favorites are the Patty Melt and the Walleye fish fry. Their homemade pizza is also great. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. Also one of the cleanest establishments in the Northwoods! Can't go wrong at Boomba!
