Free museum that features two main halls. The first one is WWII and is a nice tribute to the locals that fought in the war. The second hall is (if I understand correctly) a floating exhibit. I saw exhibits about the local community theater and found it to be charming. Docent was very friendly. Plan on 20-30 minutes. Worth a stop.

Such an informative place to step back in history and learn more about the local area and people that shaped Midland to what it is today! Dale and Jean were a joy to speak with and are very knowledgeable. Good place to spend time while supporting something so important.

Small collection of Midland's (and surrounding west Texas area) pictures, furniture, clothes, toys, and other memorabilia housed in a metal frame warehouse. Check out the replica of a skull fragment of "Midland Man" - actually a female's - found south of Midland and said to be about 10,000 years old. The museum is free. Friendly museum guide. Plenty of parking. Look for it adjacent to the county library.

Midland Community Theatre is a versatile venue that caters to all ages, offering a mix of classic and contemporary plays, musicals, and children's programming. It provides great value for family entertainment with reasonable prices at concessions. The local talent showcased in their productions is truly impressive. The theater itself is well-designed, ensuring there are no bad seats in the house. They recently staged an enjoyable rendition of Cinderella that was particularly loved by families, especially young girls.
Our family, especially my girls loved Cinderella. A great community theater without a bad seat in the house!

I have been a couple times before the construction and recently to see the Wizard of Oz. That screen is awesome!
I can't wait for the renovations to finish since we just became members.
I have a 3 and a 5 year old and they were racing about being able to see a play.
Great environment and I love the orchestra. Live music is underrated!!!!!

Midland Community Theatre is a shining example of everything a well-managed, passionate community theatre can and should be. Their team has a heart for theatre and the West Texas community, and they attract the very best local talent for their productions. If you're a local, or are just passing through, you need to see a show at MCT!

Very enjoyable shows at a great price. This is definitely a must to go at least once. Fun for the entire family. Wish they had better snack and drink options, but still so much fun!

My first time here the other night for The Sound of Music. I Loved it!
The entire building was so clean and neat, the stage and equipment was so pristine and worked so wonderfully!
The sound effects and backgrounds were so vivid and clear, it helped set the scenes so well.
I sincerely enjoyed the entire play and loved watching everyone sing their heart out and have fun doing it. It was all so beautifully and professionally done.
I do however think not enough people even know that they have such insanely great plays going on here. I'd happily go to more of them here.
I did NOT get to check out their concession stand, but the lines were long and everyone had a drink or snack so it must have been good options and prices too.
The chair and theatre itself was comfy, clean and enjoyable. I definitely recommend checking out another musical or play whenever they put one on.

Nature center with programs, tours & exhibits highlighting the wildlife & flora of the region.
Thank you Misty for taking the time to show us around and even educate us on the native plants, bees, and animals. We loved our little visit so much. We will be back just because of you. The nature center is kid friendly, clean, educating, and has so much more than just trails! Can’t wait to come back.

We are from Ohio and wanted to see the nature center displays. The building, housing the exhibits, was closed with a sign say “they were working in the garden.” I did see people inside the locked building. I wish they had posted this on their website.
The trails had only 1 type of plant with flowers. 99% of everything else looked dead but hope they will look better as Spring approaches.

Wondrously rustic nature trail and an awesome indoor learning center to boot!
I've been coming here with my kids for well over ten years and we absolutely love it!
There's almost always a family friendly, kid oriented activity on the weekends. Everything from live animal demonstrations to learning about local wildlife.
Thank you to Burr, for always giving kiddos and adults alike fun learning experience!
Kids love it here and they added restrooms right on the playground finally! Wish the town would stop closing all the fun places down that were for older kids to get entertainment though so they would stop vandalizing the playground.

Great place to visit and go for a walk. It's not great for running because of the bridges; it can be hard on the knees.

Llano Estacado Winery, Inc is a prominent winery in Texas, known for being the largest and most award-winning premium winemaker in the state. Located in Lubbock, it offers complimentary tours of its winemaking operation and a simple tasting room where visitors can sample a wide range of red and white wines. The behind-the-scenes tour provides insight into the winemaking process with impressive wooden aging casks and warehouses filled with boxed-up wine bottles ready to be shipped.
I highly recommend the tour and tasting. Matt was very knowledgeable and an awesome guide. Learned a lot about the wine making process. The tour group is limited to 14 people, so be sure to purchase your tickets early. The small size allowed for questions and in-depth discussion.
The winery produces a variety of wines for any palate. Grace assisted us in the tasting room and helped with our order. We ended up purchasing a case.

I just HAD to visit Llano wines because back in San Antonio I see them everywhere. I enjoyed a flight of mixed Llano wines. They were 4 stars. The host was more concerned about his shift ending soon, and didn't impart as much knowledge as I was hoping. He never gave his name.

False advertisements of Salsa and Sangria event that took place on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from noon to 4 pm. The promoted event on their Facebook page described Salsa and chip tasting along with Salsa dancing, music, and professional dance instructors providing guidance on dancing for various skill level dancers. Upon arrival, my fiance and I asked the 3 ladies up front when the Salsa dancing would begin and one lady laughed and said this is Salsa tasting not dancing and I informed her that their Facebook page promoted this event as both and she was completely unaware of it. Another lady advised that there was music and dancing at various times throughout the day where the salsa and chips were being served and where the vendors were located. The entire time we were there, no music, no dancing, and no dance instructors were ever present. The Llano Estacado staff lied to their customers, falsely advertised an event where they charged $30 per ticket, and did theft of services on an event where specific entertainment was clearly promoted on their event page but was absolutely not delivered upon. Another Willy Wonka incident where there was false advertisements on their Facebook promotional page and ended with multiple lawsuits against the company for lying to families and making money on a fake event. Highly disapponted in waste of money and time and being lied to by staff. Please beware in making event ticket purchases at Llano Estacado Winery with the promise of certain services and ending the day with theft of services after payment for a fake event that was clearly lied about during promotion to make a few extra bucks.

I had the honor to photograph a wedding here, but ive also been multiple times to visit. Great place to take a tour, enjoy it with a date or friends, and stay awhile and taste some good wine.
Chris Smith — Google review
The tasting room and staff were nice but that was all. Tried the wine club tasting to get the better wines according to the staff, but my party of four was not able to finish any of the offerings. One wine was described as "making your lips stick to your gums" by the staff, not very appealing. Had much higher expectations for a winery as old as this one.
Michael Watson — Google review
This was the perfect wedding venue! Matt, the event planner, was amazing. He communicated well and did an amazing job setting up for the ceremony and flipping the room for the reception. The bridal suite was perfect to get ready in. The light fixtures in the event room are beautiful. I loved every minute of my wedding in this beautiful venue and it is very affordable. Thank you Llano Estacado Winery for the perfect night.
Very nice museum, the tour guides are very informative, and the displays are very well done. The cost is a $5.00 per person donation. Well worth it. They are open on Saturdays or by appointment.

This place was okay I love that we could take pictures however no one was there to give us a map nobody was there to really do anything the only good thing about that place was that we could take pictures when you go in you just put your money into the container and you get to see whatever is there but it's worth seeing but like I said it would be nice to also gift shop would be nice as it's a great way to try to make money for the museum we went there today and we had no idea where we could go and where we couldn't go as again there was no real direction or either way to navigate where what we could see and what we can't see I would highly recommend that day either have Maps so what's available for where visitors can and cannot access they do have little change buckets for you to go ahead and put change in to help them out but again you're there you want to experience it a map

We have been talking about going to the Texas Air Museum for years and finally made it out there this past weekend. I am always impressed with how a group of volunteers come together and present such a well done exhibit. There are some very cool and rare air craft and other vehicles to see and most you can get up close and personal. The particular day that we visited there were volunteers working on the grass and yard in the front as well as others providing tours and working on projects. I appreciate places such as the Texas Air Museum to see history in person. Go check it out and support these guys!

The Science Spectrum & OMNI Theater, located in Lubbock, is an educational hub that offers science and technology exhibits, classes, an aquarium, and a 55-ft. dome movie screen. The venue provides a wide range of learning experiences for younger children with its engaging activities and friendly staff. Although some parts require maintenance, the museum still holds its classic features from the past. Additionally, visitors can look forward to the upcoming opening of the history of sports exhibit.
Talk about a blast from the past, a lot of the features were still there from when I was a kid. Getting to see my kids experience the same things was awesome. Some maintenance is definitely needed but no complaints. Really excited for the history of sports to open!

This was my first time to visit Lubbock. I took my grandson to this museum and found it to be awesome. He loved all the activities, and the people were all very nice and helpful. I was surprised at much they were able to include in a smaller venue. Some things needed repair, but there was no shortage of learning experiences for my grandson. This is a must see if you are in Lubbock with younger children!

Wonderful staff! Fantastic, fun activities and ideas for kids and adults! If you are short on time and want the best experience, hit the top floor with the sporting area first. They have live shows throughout the day with animal handlers, educational information, and a huge IMAX. Go, spend some time. If you can't and just need to kill time, make sure and go to the sporting section. Good fun!

The Science Museum and Omni Theater: A Gateway to Sparking Kids' Interest in Science
In today's fast-paced world, it is crucial to foster a love for science and technology in our children. The Science Museum and Omni Theater, with their interactive exhibits and immersive experiences, provide an ideal platform to ignite curiosity and inspire young minds. These institutions offer a unique blend of education and entertainment, making them a perfect destination for families seeking to nurture their children's interest in science.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Science Museum is its ability to engage children of all ages. From toddlers to teenagers, there is something for everyone. The museum boasts a wide range of exhibits, each designed to captivate young minds and encourage hands-on exploration. Whether it's experimenting with magnets, building structures with blocks, or observing live animals, children are encouraged to interact with the exhibits, fostering a sense of wonder and discovery.
The Science Museum also offers a plethora of interactive displays that allow children to delve deeper into various scientific concepts. From understanding the principles of electricity and magnetism to exploring the wonders of the human body, these exhibits provide a fun and engaging way for kids to learn about the world around them. By actively participating in these activities, children not only gain knowledge but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Love this place for my one year old. I have already brought him a few times since we do come from NM but every time we come to Lubbock we are going to the science spectrum for him because he loves it there.
Luis Sabogal — Google review
Most of this place is pretty awesome. I attended during an event I didn't even know was going on (don't live in Lubbock) so there was a lot of people in the main area. Price of the Museum ticket, only 9 dollars, is very reasonable. Don't worry, they'll make sure and get your money out at the gift shop, which of course I had to visit for a keychain and a dinosaur sign.
The museum itself didn't have as many people and that's why I was there anyways, so took a stroll around. Do note that I haven't been to the Science Spectrum in over 5 years...and still looks 100% the same. The exhibits have very rarely if at all changed.
On top of that, many of the interactive ones have broken down it seems. Find a "Push this button" and there seemed to be 90% chance that said button didn't work. And, several of the ones down in Aquarium were outdated, mentioning that said animal was in there, while it wasn't but another one was with a piece of paper above it to describe it.
However, that all being said it is still fun to go to, just not very frequently unless you are going to the OMNI Theater which I did not this time around, so consider my review for only the museum half. If you go there too much, it will get boring very quickly. Maybe an annual or bi-annual visit is best, or just for the events that they host.

Was so much fun we came during spring break and it was so much fun. There was plenty to do for a full day of fun. The price was not bad either for 2 adults and a child for all 3 areas was only $58. So we got to see the main exhibit and the special exhibit and watch a show. We ended the day getting some fun things from the shop. I would reccomend coming here for a full day of fun.

Great fun for everyone. Good for visiting on own or great for families too. Only disappointment we had was that they didn't show a movie there due to humidity being too high. A lot of interactive science exhibits as well as teaching classes intermittently. We got to interact with butterflies today. They landed on us, was so awesome. When they couldn't show the movie they were quick to refund the tickets. The only reason they didn't get a 5 star from me is because they didn't tell us movie was canceled, we had to leave the theater to find out why it hadn't started yet. Also, was VERY crowded but that is because of how fun it was!

I can't say too much, there is a welcome center and museum there but the truth is that we simply bought some tacos, missed the exit going to the park for lunch, and simply happened on the Buddy Holly statue by accident and had lunch at the statue. We plan to stop by the center and visit on our way back. I did not know what number to give this type of accidental brief visit.

Nice presentation and would probably be amazing if your a big Buddy Holly fan. Good place to visit if your in the neighborhood. Not a huge amount to see, so don't plan on staying too long.
The Buddy Holly Center is an arts complex that serves as a museum dedicated to the history of rock music pioneer, Buddy Holly. It showcases his personal items such as guitars, recordings, clothing and photographs, in addition to a documentary about his life. The center also features a memorial for the late artist and offers concerts and classes. For just $5 entry fee during weekdays with no waiting time, visitors can learn about Holly's roots in Lubbock and appreciate the informative displays.
Would definitely recommend stopping by to this museum if in the area. Nice staff. Prices where fair however the museum is quite small. 2 viewing rooms only and a video that is played that is roughly 20 mins. No pictures allowed in gallery which was unfortunate. Gift shop was decently priced with many items to choose from. Pleased with overall experience.

Buddy Holly was born in Lubbock, Texas. The city has embraced the story of his short life...killed in a plane crash at the age of 26.
The charming center walks you through his life. However, importantly it does a terrific job of showing his influence on musicians such as the Beatles, Bob Dyland and even opened for Elvis.
The grounds are beautiful.

We went on the anniversary of Buddy Holly's death and the museum was free for the day. The museum was very clean and modern and had a lot of information on the Crickets. There's also a jazz gallery in the side room and a small theater showcasing a documentary on Buddy Holly. Next door is the drummer's childhood house where they practiced and across the street is the Buddy Holly memorial. The museum did a wonderful job honoring him and the Crickets.

Great museum. Buddy Holly memorial. Informative. They kept things that were used by Buddy Holly such as his bike, eye glass, recordings, guitars, pictures, his tshirts, other attires and belongings. They show a documentary on Buddy Holly that I also liked. Great place for those who has interest in the history of rock n Rolla music and it’s pioneer, Buddy Holly. Entry fee only $5. No waiting time on weekdays.

Nice museum that offers a great perspective on a very important musical pioneer. Not a ton of exhibits, but then you realize that Buddy Holly only had 22 years on this earth. Poignant and moving place.

Ample parking. Museums have gotten more costly, but they have to raise funds. This is an exhibit for his fans. It was sad, as he died young, before he could reach his full potential. Allow about an hour. No photography permitted.

We went to see Shien Yun at Buddy Holly. It was amazing. Clear bag policy is in effect. We have been to events here the only thing they did not have this time was valet service. Which I was very disappointed in them. My husband is handicapped and can not walk long distances and the valet service sure helps him not having to walk great distances. I noticed other patrons pulling up as well expecting the service and having to park far of with their loved one. That is the only reason for the 3 stars.

This little museum is worth the reasonable price of admission. The timeline of how country and blues music led to rock and roll is very interesting and winds throughout the displays While the displays are well presented there is sparse information about what is in many of the displays they do not allow photos.

A nicely shaded outdoor plaza area greats you as you enter. There is a small movie theater and a couple of display rooms, gift shop, and public art display. The admission also includes a tour of the house next door. The facility is a repurposed railroad depot.

It's basically just one room, but the artifacts here are priceless. Lots of things from Buddy's childhood and highschool years. Don't forget to grab a brochure that explains what all the items are as you go around the room. I enjoyed my time here. Ticket was $10.
The American Windmill Museum is a technology museum that showcases the evolution of windmills into wind turbines. It features an indoor and outdoor display of 200 models, along with a detailed history and timeline of the technology's development. The museum also includes commemorative bricks lining its walkway, a gift shop selling model windmills for assembly, and an extensive model train exhibit that runs throughout the premises.
Very detailed museum about the history and timeline of the windmill evolving into the wind turbine. Being in the wind industry, it was nice to see the commemorative bricks that laid a walkway. The gift shop was cool and had model windmills that you could buy and assemble. There is a widely extensive model train exhibit that ran all over. I would recommend for a family trip.

This is not a normal museum! It's really surprising. Not only are there a ton of windmills outside, but there are so many inside the two giant facilities. It's really quite breathtaking. There's also a massive section of miniature dollhouses and scenes and an even bigger section with a fully functioning model train exhibit. The conductor was super friendly, too. There's also one of the biggest murals I've ever seen in my life! It's definitely worth the money and if you have kids, you have to take them. There's so much to look at.

This is a must-stop anytime you visit Lubbock!! And affordable to bring the whole family. I went with my mom, sister, wife and kids and it didn't break the bank. Literally awesome things for everyone to see. The trains were great, and the windmills were fascinating! They also had a large room with millstones that was very cool, too!! Please go there!

What a great museum! Not only can only see windmills but miniature houses and trains too. I especially like the huge mural at the end. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was very clean. I highly recommend!

A very interesting and huge museum devoted is primarily to windmills, but with large sections detailing model, trains, craft, built model houses, Mills and millstones, and various styles of ancient through very modern Mills. Outdoor displays include many windmills running free, and a post mill reconstruction from early colonial American history. The post mail is different from the Dutch wind mills and that the entire mill house rotates with the wind. Very interesting. The road to view the static display of an electric modern mill was closed. Sorry not to see that. Very helpful staff, and the museum is gifted by volunteers that really love what they're doing.

We really enjoyed this museum. There were several hundred windmills of nearly all types made, including full size electrical generator types like we see along the roads. One was standing, and the other was in parts on the ground so you could see it closer up. Also there was an awesome 1/24th scale train layout that was huge and had a lot of fully furnished miniature doll houses as well as several trains that were constantly taking turns running through the village and up onto a spiral ramp that circles up at least ten times before coming out on a raised railroad high on the wall that then traveled all around the room before returning to the station. In addition the train layout, there were also several other doll houses that were beautifully and meticulously furnished in various styles and themes. We arrived on Good Friday, so they were having an Easter event for the kids, including an Easter Bunny interacting with the kids. It is a fun museum for all ages, sizes, and abilities.

This place has so much to see! From elaborate train sets to incredible doll house displays and shadow boxes. And all the Windmills!!! Lots of history on milling. There's a train story board with illustrations to check out. In addition, an original 1926 Model T is on display.
It didn't hurt that I visited this museum while they hosted a Corvette show either. Amazing experience!

The museum was amazing!! We loved it. We even got a one on one with the museum director where she shared with us some of the interesting history of windmills, their use, and their relation to trains, travel, farming, and the dynamics of city and regional growth. A wonderful place to visit!

Never in my life would I have thought a museum about windmills could be interesting...I was wrong. I was amazed at the amount of displays inside. A large scale model railroad, dollhouses, a millstone collection, and of course, windmills. Lots, and lots of windmills! This is a great day trip if you are in Lubbock and looking for something out of the ordinary.

This place is cool. Don’t let the outside fool you. This building is packed full of things to see, not just windmills. There were an unbelievable number of windmills inside the building. I didn’t even know that there were that many different windmills. They were all labeled with a plaque and information. They had a display of millstones and the their uses. There was also a huge train layout with a model of downtown Lubbock back when they had a train station. And it has air conditioning. Cool place to check out on a hot day.

The National Ranching Heritage Center is a museum dedicated to American ranching and frontier life. It features various historic structures and artifacts that have been relocated for preservation purposes. Visitors are advised to go on a cloudy day as it can take around two hours to see everything, including reading about each building. While visitors cannot enter any of the houses due to preservation needs, they can see inside through gates or windows. Admission is free, but donations are accepted via cash or barcode scanning.
Really enjoyed this. A lot of area to cover, but flat. Large variety of homes to look at. Took me about 2 hrs to walk through with me stopping and reading everything. Bathrooms at entrance and drinks to buy available in gift shop. Gift shop had cute stuff.

We recently visited The National Ranching Heritage Center and must say that this is a fabulous facility. So glad they have dismantled and reassembled all of these important ranch buildings from across the region. The grounds are thoughtfully laid out so that you can take a leisurely stroll at you own pace to see all of the saved buildings. We learned a lot about ranch life in the Panhandle Plains area of our state. The main building has great displays and beautiful western art. Looking forward to a return visit one day. And with facilities geared specifically to kids it’s a great place for them, too. Go…….you will not be disappointed

Absolutely enjoyed this museum so much that we decided to go back the next day! The fire, gun, and history of ranch life was so informative. The facility was clean, staff were friendly, and a guest book is available.

This is an amazing place to visit by yourself or with the family if you are from Lubbock but especially if you or your family are from out of town and it's your first visit. It has beautiful landscaping great for photos and wonderful historical buildings. The history behind the buildings and things here are astonishing and priceless. The employees have done society a favor and given us such an amazing gift in the preservation of small pieces of history for us to enjoy and learn about and from. THIS HISTORICAL HERITAGE MUSEUM IS ABSOLUTELY FREE FOR THE PUBLIC TO ENJOY. IT'S A MUST VISIT. The photos provided are just a small glimpse of what this place has to offer. There is so much more

Awesome place to visit any day. But highly recommended going on a cloudy day. It took us about 2 hours to see everything plus the reading on each building. You cannot go inside any house they all have a gate in front where you can only see the inside. Even the biggest one (greenhouse) it's locked you can only see thru the windows. But I understand they need to be preserved. Admission is free but donations are welcome by cash or by scanning the barcode if no cash on hand in order. To do the walking you have to get there before 4:00 or at 4:00. Overall a great educational experience not only for kids but also for adults. The staff that we interact with were very friendly and respectful.
Prairie Dog Town, located within Mackenzie Park, has been a popular wildlife attraction since 1935. It features interpretive signage and an abundance of prairie dogs that are eager to interact with visitors who bring carrots. However, the presence of barking dogs can scare them back into their holes. Additionally, visitors may be lucky enough to spot a burrowing owl in the area.
Other than Buddy Holly, Prairie Dog Town is Lubbock's other claim to fame. I wouldn't drive across Texas to visit, but if you're passing through and have some time, it's worth a quick stop. Upon arriving, you will be greeted by the chirping of the black-tailed prairie dog. It is definitely amusing to spend a bit of time watching the little critters do what they do..

A must go place when visiting Lubbock. It was so amazing to watch the Prairie dogs at play. So peaceful and entertaining. There is no charge foe the park. The park areas were nice as well. Would love to come back and just enjoy watching them folic. I even had one bar at me a couple of times. The home they make underground is amazing. The story book on the website tells their history.

Adorable black-tipped prairie dogs live inside (and outside) a low concrete walled enclosure in a city park. There is an informative sign and the prairie dogs are fairly brave with people watching. However, trash control is lacking and we witnessed two prairie dogs eating napkins and other debris that blew out of the nearby overfilled trash cans. We enjoyed watching them and stayed for quite a while.

Stopped by while on a road trip. Nice thing to see!
There is a short brick wall that divides the sidewalk area from the grassy area where the prairie dogs are. There are prairie dog holes in the ground even past the wall, on the left side of the park. You're able to get close enough to them.
There were carrots, lettuce, and peanuts on the ground so it looks like people do feed them. There are no signs saying not too. Just a sign saying to not go past the brick wall and get too close to them. They are wild animals after all.
Nice activity to do if you're passing through the area!

We visited late in the day and there were quite a few prairie dogs out who came over eagerly for our carrots. They were not crazy about the string beans we brought. Unfortunately, after a little while, someone with a barking dog showed up which scared them all into their holes and even after the dog left they did not really come back out. We were not sure if this was due to the dog or also because it was getting a bit late. Anyway, we had a lovely time.

This place is pretty cool. There are prairie dogs all over. Sometimes they are in the spots. They're not supposed to be, but that's okay. And the golf course has balls that you can In the outfield, bring your old scraps of food to feed the little guys. They like to bark at you while you're approaching their area and warn the others. There's parks here and it's a good place for gathering. This area is good for picnic. Scattering with family having birthday parties or holidays as long as the weather is permitting. There's actually a couple of parks here I think. I go to this park sometimes if I have time to kill between shifts. It's a very peaceful place to think if you need to always very quiet and not really crowded most of the time. I even come in the rain and the prairie. Dogs do some cool stuff when it's been raining because the water gets in their holes and they have to dig it out. We also unfortunately found a little skull of a prairie dog who didn't make it. I guess. That was kind of sad but no worries. Because there are plenty plenty, plenty plenty. Plenty more prairie, dog fun in the area.

So glad these little guys are valued. Terribly cute. We take cut-up carrots to toss to them. Best part is when they all start calling. If you are in the city, or driving through as I was, it is a cool free place to stop by. Other than the area listed as the Prairie Dog Town, they are all over the park area. This allows you to see them easily and watch them.
They are smaller than the ones I saw in South Dakota, In South Dakota they were a highlight of that road trip with food you can buy for them and hang out in the area.

This was a fun little stop while on a road trip to Colorado this past summer. The prairie dogs were so cute. I have visited here twice before and each time I have enjoyed watching these adorable prairie dogs run around and dig their holes. If you are in Lubbock stop by this place for a bit. I spent about 15 minutes here.

First time seeing Prairie Dogs. They are absolutely adorable. This free park let's you really see them up close. It looks like they are regularly fed as lettuce and carrots were scattered around. Someone honked their horn, and the dogs scattered. They don't like loud noise or dogs. Don't bring your dogs to see these dogs. Someone was feeding them potato chips, and there is no sign saying you couldn't feed them. We tossed them some pistachios, shelled, and they really liked them.

The Silent Wings Museum is a dedicated establishment showcasing the United States WWII military glider program. It features a restored model and a library, with various historical facts and displays. The museum offers an insightful 20-minute film with interviews of glider pilots, as well as extensive reading material throughout its spacious display areas. Although some exhibits are difficult to read due to their placement within cabinets, this museum is highly recommended for anyone interested in aviation, gliders or historical information.

To start with, I will admit that I was disappointed there were not more aircraft. I love airplanes and was expecting more. HOWEVER, this museum did not end up disappointing. Speaking with the gentleman at the front desk gave a great insight to what ended up only being about 3 years of glider service and usage in the USAAF. Being able to actually feel the flimsiness of these extremely fragile aircraft gave a new appreciation to what was accomplished on far-flung theaters of operation from Burma to Sicily, Italy, and to the beaches of Normandy at and around D-Day.
We were very impressed at the depth of the displays. Spent two hours here with two teenagers and our 10 year old grandson. None of us were bored and we didn't even read or see everything. There were even personal touches like displays with actual love letters written from husbands to wives during their long absences.
Being right on the side of the flight line was another bonus as it allows you to see directly onto the runway where a few planes took off and landed during our museum visit. I would definitely recommend stopping here for a look into history. My hat is off to the soldiers and the pilots who were willing to get on these flying kites for one way trips to the front of the war.

Why does a small city of a quarter million people, located in the middle of the West Texas desert, have an international airport?
The answer is that the airport was built during World War II to train paratroopers and glider-borne troops. The city of Lubbock was chosen as a training site because it was located in a remote area with good weather conditions. The airport was later used to train troops for the Korean and Vietnam Wars, but it was eventually decommissioned after the Vietnam War. The city of Lubbock then took over the airport and converted it into a commercial airport.

Very interesting story here...I never knew the US Military had thousands of gliders they used to drop men and supplies behind enemy lines. Why didn't we learn this stuff in school, it would have been a more interesting story than what we were taught?
There's one fully restored glider on display in a custom built gallery plus lots of other interesting items. The front of the gliders lifted up allowing transportation of jeeps, bulldozers, and other equipment. We started the visit with a 16 minute film that told the story of these gliders.
The museum is located at the old Lubbock Airport terminal. The museum addition includes an incredible glass wall overlooking the new terminal and the runway.

What an amazing place! Especially when paired with the WASP museum down in Sweetwater. I expect some of those ladies might have towed some of these men's gliders. And what a history! It takes a lot of guts to crash land behind enemy lines! And I love the story about how the program got approved with a little showmanship. There's a longer video about how (if they weren't totally destroyed by "rommel's asparagus") the gliders could be picked up again with a tow line that's worth sitting through. And make sure you find the theater down the first hall to your left - watch that first and the rest makes better sense. And if you go here first, they'll give you half off at the Buddy Holly Center with a receipt.

I have read quite a bit of WW 2 history, and watched countless WW 2 documentaries, but I didn't know about the glider pilots who braved incredible odds to land troops and materials behind enemy lines using "stealth" technology. This museum pays homage to the unsung heroes of the war, the glider pilot. The museum has quality displays and is packed with lots of information about the glider aspect of the war. Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting Lubbock and are passionate about WW 2 history.

Historical Marker Reads:
“Before this area was covered by the Mackenzie Reservoir, evidence of human occupancy was found at 77 archeological sites.
The earliest artifacts date back 10,000 years to a bison kill. Prehistoric occupancy is indicated by the burial sites, shallow hearths and stone tools. Gun flints, glass beads and metal objects confirm 18th century European contact.
By 1874 Col. Ranald Mackenzie’s 4th Calvary had driven the Indians from the Tule Canyon area which had been lush grazing ground for buffalo and antelope.”

Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge Admin Building And Visitor Contact Station
The Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge Admin Building And Visitor Contact Station is a serene and educational spot in the Panhandle, just a short drive from downtown Canyon. Visitors can enjoy a short nature walk and an 11-mile driving loop while learning about the preserve's management and human impact on the land. The refuge is home to diverse wildlife, including songbirds, deer, coyotes, and various bird species. It offers a peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts seeking solitude amidst rapidly disappearing landscapes.
This was a wonderful place to stop and camp for a few days. There are hiking trails, an auto tour, and a camping area that has spacious campsites, picnic tables, pit toilets, and a dumpster.
There aren't many animals .. coyotes can be heard at night and a lot of birds, but it is a very peaceful, well maintained refuge with a very friendly staff. The cost is only $2 per night to camp. It's absolutely worth it !

We drove out from Palo Duro hoping to see some migrating birds. We drove the wildlife road. We saw two large birds but couldn’t make out what they were even with binoculars ( in a large nest). We saw some small song birds. The end. Nothing else. The contaminated water signs were frightening.
We visited in March. Maybe it’s better other times of year. I don’t know.
I found it to be depressing and echoing of a past of better days. Definitely a lesson here to be learned about water use.

Lovely, quiet, full of space. Some good nature tracking opportunities. Bird watchers Welcome. The National Park Rangers have gotten abit full-on in the last year 🤷♀️. Otherwise good place to get away for a picnic , hike or dog walk. Camping is Available.

Wonderful bit of solitude in the Panhandle. It's well worth the trip if you have time are visiting Palo Duro Canyon. It's about 15 minute drive from downtown Canyon and they have a short nature walk, and an 11 mile driving loop. There is some explanation of what they do on the preserve to manage it and you get a very good idea how human's have greatly impacted the surrounding land. There were many songbirds when we were there even on a bad weather day. Go, pay the $2 entry fee, and enjoy a landscape that is rapibly disappearing.

This is an extremely peaceful place. My daughter loved the tarantulas and bird blind. Did not see many birds in our early fall visit.

Amazingly quiet and clean place for a few nights stopover while avoiding storms to the East. We saw a large herd of deer, a coyote, and a plethora of birds. Can’t beat such a retreat for $2 (unless you have a long rig, then things might get iffy).

Must have been a great place. Maybe during a different season. I will try hiking next time.

I love it out here! It’s very peaceful and the wind was blowing just right! It’s a great place for a picnic! Oh! Did I mentioned that it was nice and quiet?!
Palo Duro Canyon State Park spans an impressive 60 miles of ravine that boasts towering 800-ft cliffs. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including hiking the numerous trails and taking in the musical "Texas" at the park's amphitheater. It is advisable to arrive early to beat the heat and bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug repellent as necessary.
Amassing Canyon to explore there is so much to see and many trails to hike but you have to go there early because it can get hot very quick also bring plenty of water and sunscreen and maybe some kind of bug repellent depending on the time of the year you are visiting.
At gift shop you can buy some snacks and food things but if you bring your own picnic there is plenty of nice and shaded areas to stop and refuel your body while enjoying the breathtaking views pretty much anywhere in the Canyon property.
I absolutely love my visit here and never gets old because you will always find a new view to take in!!!

A truly beautiful place to see. Many trails for hiking. Nice facilities. Nice campgrounds although difficult to get reservations, books up months in advance. Highly recommend a visit. Make sure if you plan on hiking you take plenty of water along. Also consider making day pass reservations as park fills to capacity some days.

What am amazing place! Even with a very rainy week, the nature here is awe inspiring. Campgrounds are well maintained. Bathrooms with showers are great. Roads are well maintained. Definitely a great state park to visit!

Beautiful park! Lots of hiking trails. Beware of the dessert tarantulas we encountered 3 on a trail! Lots of spiders and huge ants! But that is nature. We enjoyed it! Bathrooms were clean and smelled good on Juniper loop.

Palo Duro Canyon, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of Texas," is a spectacular natural wonder located in the Texas Panhandle, USA. It was formed by millions of years of erosion by the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River. It exposes colorful layers of rock, including red, orange, yellow, and lavender hues, making it visually stunning.
It is the second-largest canyon in the United States, stretching over 120 miles long, up to 20 miles wide, and reaching depths of around 800 feet. The canyon covers approximately 29,000 acres of land.
Palo Duro Canyon is not only a geological wonder but also a natural playground for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide range of recreational activities and stunning scenery for visitors to enjoy. It's a must-visit destination for those exploring the beauty of Texas.

Always an amazing experience when I visit this park. I try to explore different trails each time I come here and this time was no exception. Absolutely breathtaking scenery no matter what trail I’ve taken.

Did the lighthouse trail, fun, not hard at all, bring plenty of water. Lots of things to do here:
- Hike
- Run
- Mountain bike
- Horse ride
There's little restaurant... Didn't try food there but foods available... After a few miles at the Canyon any food tastes amazing lol
Overall so much fun, can't wait to come back to explore a bit more!

If you like hiking, this is your place to visit! Over 30 miles of trails with lots of options from very easy to difficult. We stayed in Juniper Campground for three nights. It was clean and well maintained. The bath house was great with good hot water.

The scenery is awesome!!! During spring break, I went during the week day so there was a sizable amount of guests (totally more fun with people around) yet not very crowded. And the temperature was not too high either. Many trails for all levels of hiker. I chose to hike but there are many more activities that can be done. Even drive on the road inside the state park only, you can still see beautiful landscape with red-orange hue canyon and clear blue sky. Definitely recommended!!!

Nice spaced out sites with water and electric with 2 dump stations, no shade really though. Campgrounds are way back in the park, very quiet and secluded. We stayed in the Juniper campground, site 105. Nice views and trails from campsites. Lots of nice trails to take but unfortunately when we were there it was well over 100 degrees so we didn't get to partake much in the hiking. The hiking we did do we started out early to beat the heat. Didn't use the bathhouses but they seemed to be okay, not very many showers and no AC or vents in the buildings though. Wish we could have explored more as it is a beautiful park. Maybe we will come back when it isn't so hot.

Fantastic canyon to visit! Located a short drive outside of Amarillo, Tx. Very scenic state park containing miles of hiking, biking, and equine trails. Take plenty of water if you visit during warmer times of the year. The canyon floor can easily get 110 to 120 degrees. The Lighthouse is the most recognized feature here and we'll worth the hike needed to get closer views.

Palo Duro Canyon is a nice trip we took. We were able to drive the vehicle far into the canyon and explore the area from there. It has many places to rest and eat. You can also see different wildlife.

Don't miss going here!! It's spectacular! I don't recommend going during summer months when it's brutally hot. Loads of hiking trails, wildlife, and biking areas. Wear boots and be snake aware. If you aren't hiking, it's an easy drive. Not much is out that way, so bring plenty of water and pack your lunch!
Also, the night views are amazing! Stars as far as you can see!

This is a place everyone should experience, it's very beautiful. This is our second trip here and each time we stay longer first was 4 days. This time was 7 days. The hiking is great they have from very easy to very hard. We always camp in the Mesquite camping area because of the views.
David Davidson — Google review
We love Palo Duro Canyon. The idea that we can drive down and camp inside the second largest canyon in the United States is amazing! The views are captivating and lots of wildlife is there. We saw many deer and heard coyotes. It was hunting season when we were there so many of the trails were closed but they look like great biking and hiking trails. The campground is great, water and electric only with a dump station on the way out. Leave your cell phone in the truck, there’s no service in the canyon. It’s very windy down there (and in the area as a whole) but it strangely adds to the relaxation factor. This was our second year and three nights wasn’t enough, we’ll come back for a week next time.
Amanda M — Google review
Palo Duro Canyon is the crown jewel among State Parks in Texas. In spite of it being remote and not near the major population centers of the state, it still had about 375,000 visitors in FY 2023. With more than 25 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and equestrian activities, along with abundant camping and day-use facilities, there is plenty of room to roam.
You will often find Palo Duro referred to as The Grand Canyon of Texas. I dislike such comparisons, because they can diminish during the comparison. Hey, at least you can drive into this canyon. The one in Arizona can’t make that claim.
Do be advised that they aren’t kidding about the heat. The canyon floor can and does hit 130F or more in summer. For that reason, winter is my favorite time of year to visit, with many days ranging from the 50s to 70s. If you come in summer, plan on sunblock, water bottles, and insect repellant to deter the notoriously large—and biting—flies.
The summer musical—Texas!—is a delight to see, even if it sometimes crosses the border with tropes and cliches. But that’s the whole point, so sit back and enjoy.
My only beef with the park is that, in spite of its massive size, there is a whole other section that has been made off-limits, with land being leased to private ranchers. This means that you won’t get to see Cathedral Peak, the crumbling ruins of the Kneeling Camel, and numerous slot canyons. Maybe someday the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will ease up on these restrictions.
Still, there is more than enough for out-of-town guests to enjoy. It seems that only those of us who live here fret about what we cannot do. But that’s probably because we call this our playground, and come here frequently enough to yearn for more.

One of the best parks I have ever been to right in my backyard! (figuratively) We had a good time, saw a lot of beautiful breathtaking views, the kids had fun with the junior ranger program and got their badge! We did a 10 mile hike, various trails, we suffered a little, I hadn’t realized my hiking boots had given their last the last hike I did( always check your gear!) so I had a few blisters there at the end, but definitely worth it. Two days is not enough to explore this beautiful park.
Eli Sierra — Google review
Wonderful place. You can drive to the bottom to camp or walk the trails. Second longest canyon in the U.S. after the Grand Canyon. Soils exposed along the canyon walls date back to 250 million years ago and expose the thin layer where prehistoric fossils have been found. Go see the video about the history of the area at the visitor center for a good understanding of what you are looking at when you walk or drive the canyon. I think it's worthy of a National Park designation.

We were taking a trip out west going through Amarillo, TX and weren’t sure if it was too far of a detour. If you ever wonder if you want to take the detour, do it! It was absolutely worth it and a great way to stretch your legs on a long trip. I hope to be back to get a chance to do more hiking on their trails.

I love this place, it's a different world down in the canyon. Some excellent hiking trails - the light house trail is a must. Bathroom are very nice. Incredible views of the canyon
Mark Rose — Google review
If you can go and are in the area. Go. It's an amazing hike on a well maintained trail. At the trail head the rangers are fantastic making sure that you don't go in unprepared. (144° on ground by noon.) So leave the puppers home for this one. Unless you get out there early.
This is not for the faint (ha get it?) Of heart. There are plenty of resting spots but the bulk (6mile round trip) of the trail is not covered with shade... reports of snakes. Heat sickness and exhaustion is real and will get you quicker than anything so bring water (at least 3L per person), hat, long sleeved light clothing if you need.
Enjoy and Be Safe!

A beautiful state park with lots and lots of trails. Almost no cellular connectivity in the canyon, which is great. Dump stations are a bit too tight for a big rig, but manageable. Overall, an absolutely amazing experience & I would highly recommend it.

This is a beautiful state park! The canyon is spectacular. I visited with my best friend this past summer and it was too hot to do any hiking, but we did get out and walk a little and take pictures. We also drove around the park to see the scenery. I definitely want to visit again sometime in the fall or early spring when the weather will be nicer to get out and hike. I also like that it is a dog friendly park - I hope to take my future dog here and hike.

Took a road trip to Palo Duro Canyon! The long weekend just so happened to coincide with the winter storm. I was able to catch the sunrise and be the second one on Lighthouse Trail. The windchill was no joke when I got up to the Lighthouse, but the view was breathtaking! I was able to get out and back within 4 hours. Plenty of people were camping as well despite the temperatures dropping, but it was definitely warmer within the canyon.
Vivian Pan — Google review
2/3 of the park was closed for hunting when we were here, so that left many trails closed. We were still able to hike for a good chunk of a day and the views are amazing here! Hiking was great. We were here in the off season so there were few people. The campground is nice and the shower/toilet room was clean and well kept. The camp host was pleasant and has the most wonderfully happy dog. We had a burger from the Trading Post and is was delicious.

I love Palo Duro Canyon! It still awes me to be driving through flat plains & suddenly run up on a Big Crack in the earth which opens up to Spanish skirts with a stream running between them, the landscape dotted with juniper, hackberry trees, & wildflowers spring-fall. I like hiking the trails - there are a good variety of them, so you can choose how you want to hike that day. If you're there during the week when it's a little less busy, it's amazing how quiet it is (not nature, of course) -it soothes my soul. Be smart! Come prepared! Summertime, it's hot - know your trail & the temperature & bring enough water for your hike!

I stopped in Palo Duro Canyon State Park on a road trip from Arkansas to Arizona in the summer of 2023. I wasn't able to spend as much time there as I would have liked, and I'll definitely make a point to return.
Quite frankly I was floored by the beauty of the Canyon. I just saw the canyon, pretty much from the lookouts near the visitor center.
The visitor center had super friendly staff. I will say that trashcans seemed a little sparse for some reason.

Visited for 3 days.
Hiked the Lighthouse trail, the CCC ridge trail, the Rock Garden trail, and the Paseo Del Rio trail.
The Lighthouse trail is beautiful but more strenuous than expected. Take lots of water.
Very scenic and worth the trip.
The Lighthouse Trail is a picturesque hiking route located in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Texas. The trail offers stunning panoramic views of the rugged canyon landscape and leads to the iconic Lighthouse rock formation, which is a popular spot for hikers to take photos. The trail is known for its diverse flora and fauna, including wildflowers and wildlife such as roadrunners and mule deer.
The Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum showcases the natural history of the area with a collection of bones, artifacts, and artwork. Despite initial concerns about the admission fee, visitors are encouraged to spend at least two hours exploring the numerous displays on offer. The museum covers an extensive range of topics including a pioneer town exhibit, providing an educational experience for all ages. Tourists can even obtain discount coupons from visitor centers in Amarillo to make their visit more affordable.
I have not been since I was a child. This is truly a beautiful museum that is well worth the time. If you want to visit and see everything you're going to spend a full afternoon. The staff are very courteous and helpful. Thank you, Juanita Duncan for the time and professionalism.

Very historically accurate, huge museum. Was not expecting much, was honestly very surprised at the scale and attention to detail in this place. Would recommend to anyone interested in Panhandle-Plains history. My only regret with this place was that we could not spend more time there, I would recommend 2+ hours inside.

WOW! This place is huge. We thought we were going to swing by and check it out before leaving town but we couldn't finish it. They have a full-on pioneer village set up to showcase what it was like to live back then, along with fossils, anthropological artifacts, cars, and guns. I will definitely have to come back at some point when I have more time but it was an excellent experience!

At first I thought the price might be too high...but I was wrong. I spent 3.5 hours here and enjoyed every minute of it. They had displays on just about everything imaginable. I especially liked the pioneer town. I would recommend planning at least 2 hours. If you read every placard like I do, you might spend upwards of 4 hours here.
Oh, and I was able to get a $2 discount coupon from the back side of a tourist map I got at a visitor center in Amarillo.

Justin Forrester — Google review
Museum covers a lot of subjects/ areas in varying depth. Oil industry was covered in great depth and learned a few new things. Nice display of old and rare automobiles. More of a broad swath of information than deep drilling down in most sections. Pioneer town had different retail businesses of the day with an information sign at most displays- lighting was poor by several of those signs and difficult to read. Downgraded the museum as the movie was broken, as were the videos at several displays. We spent 2 1/2 hours there.

This place was much larger than we expected. We spent almost 4 hours here walking through and reading a lot of the exhibits. We did miss pioneer town and had to go back at the end.

This was the place to go for families that enjoy learning. The interactive learning was the best part for my children. The art galleries were amazing and wonderful. Only spent 4 hours here. Could spend the whole day. Best in Texas. Best I've seen anywhere. And it isn't just about oil!
While a road trip to Padre Island from Colorado in Feb 2022, the Roadside America app took us to this amazing Texas landmark. The 47' tall, slouching, lanky Tex is quite the site to behold! He's been around for years and was recently refurbished in (again) in 2016 and has a nice little park to call home!

The Tex Randall statue is part of the panhandle heritage. Harry Wheeler created this statue, by hand, to welcome visitors to his curio shop on highway 60. The statue was refurbished not too long ago and it is well worth stopping to see and read the history. It's a very small area. There is parking.

My grandfather used to be a salesman for a pharmaceutical company. He would visit the pharmacies and hospitals in the panhandle to take orders. When he called on Hereford my grandmother would take me and a picnic to meet him under the cowboy. What great memories. It’s been 60 years or more. Both of my grandparents have been gone a long time ago. I’m so glad that they have preserved it after all these years.

Since the land is so open and the sky is so large, this statue is a little underwhelming in person. It's situated at a crossroads and easily visible as you drive past. Stopping for a pic would require parking a little bit away and backtracking on foot.

This production is and always has been amazing. My Parents took our family to see it every year for most of my childhood. As an adult, it is just as mesmerizing as when I was little. My wife and I did the canyon zipline with our four kids, ages 8, 6, 4, and 1. The older two went in tandem, and the littler ones went with one of us. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and they made sure we knew that safety was assured. They made sure we were all clipped into a safety line at all times! The views were beautiful, the zipline and swaying bridges exciting, and we enjoyed the ride in the wagon trailer too!

Called yesterday and he said we wouldn’t make it on time for last zip, they would reopen at 10:30 next day. Showed up at noon, said they needed to mow the grass?? before they were going to open (even though he said 10:30 day before). Then he would need to check to make sure it was safe to zip, due to recent flooding. But they weren’t going to check that out until he was finished mowing. We had 3 kids waiting and a 5 hour drive home. He was a complete jerk. It was a complete disaster…his ending comment that safety was first and it’s was life or death, but they couldn’t check until they push mowed around the office, left me wildly confused. Such a jerk..

Palo Dura was closed and flooding in everywhere due to all the heavy rain, roads closed, when i cancelled my reservation within the time specified to get refund. Never received confirmation and didn’t get my my refund. Called the day I was suppose to arrive. The woman handed the phone to a man who rudely said it was cancelled and refunded my reservation. He then hangs up without so much as a goodbye. Need to work on your customer service skills. Week goes by and I email to inquire and still nothing. 2 weeks now and no refund.

Website said opened at 9am, tried to make reservation for days, never worked. Website had no mention of 1pm opening on Sundays. When we arrived at 9:45 we were greeted and told 1pm. We were not the only people showing up to be turned away.
No biggie spent time in Palo Duro Canyon Park. Arrived back at 12:45, and they’d already started taking people early and we missed the 1st bus out.
Waited another 45 minutes, thankfully got on the 2nd bus.
They need accurate information on their website regarding times. Had we known we could have rearranged our plans.

Staff is cool and friendly. RV sites are pretty spacious. The hookups are wide apart so bring a long water hose. Reasonable rates and great view. I didn't have time to zip line on my stay, but definitely recommend the camp to anyone visting the Palo Duro Canyon area.

Ok, let me start by saying I would stay here again...however, below is a pros and cons list.
Pros:
Great location...couldn’t get any closer to the entrance to Palo Duro Canyon if you tried. Gas and Dollar General are an easy 10 minutes away.
Clean bathrooms and shower
Clean camping area
Quiet and very relaxed atmosphere
Water and electricity sites available
You can reserve a spot online
Cons:
Not inside of Palo Duro Canyon so you have to pay and entrance fee each for each day you want to go. We have a big family so definitely check out getting a Texas State Parks yearly pass.
Only 1 shower currently working...although a second is under construction.
No fire pits...but they do allow you to make one if there is no burn ban.
At the entry and near the restrooms it is very cluttered. They are under construction but even with that, there is siding and material strewn about...could definitely have a better look and feel with that.
In short...if you can’t stay in the canyon, this is your next best spot and a good one at that. Hopefully they will finish construction soon and clean up and make this place a 5-Star stop!

This is one of those place, which are not very popular but it has a x-factor, and you will like it. I traveled from Dallas to Amarillo for this and Canyon. It was worth it. Zip lining was definitely awesome.

Pretty neat zipline over the canyon and really nice people. If you do the "chicken" option, the view is beautiful!

We did not zip line but we camped here and it was very affordable (especially compared to camping in the canyon) and we got to have an amazing view of the sunrise over the canyon. Bathrooms are clean and convenient. Will definitely stay here again.

For someone who has Ziplined in different locations, this one was by far the least safe. The staff was very friendly and did their best. I wore a helmet and got hit in the eye by a tied rope at the end of the line. As I'm soothing my eye, which thankfully did not get injured just watery, one of the staff members stated, "that's why we let you go first to adjust for the other persons." Extremely rude to tell a patron. $30 for one line of zipping. That was a huge disappointment. Arrive early for less lines and wait time. No reservations.
Palo Duro Creek Ranch offers a thrilling Jeep (Humvee) tour of the Palo Duro Canyon, providing an opportunity to explore the canyon's bottom and learn about its history. The tour guide, Case, is praised for his knowledge and care during the trip. Visitors recommend this exciting adventure for families who are ready to hold on tight and experience the roller coaster-like ride through the beautiful canyon. The sunset views from the canyon are highlighted as a must-see during this exhilarating excursion.
Case was an amazing jeep tour guide. He’s passionate about his land and the canyon, was happy to answer all of my many questions and doled out humor at every twist and turn. And those views!!! We only had time for the 1 hour tour but wish we had been able to take one of the longer ones! Definitely highly recommend!

My husband and I did an impromptu visit and John was our tour guide. I cannot tell you enough how we are still talking about this trip. John was extremely knowledgeable on the history of the canyon and local indian tribes. Lets not forget to mention the mad skill of maneuvering through the canyon. What a hidden paradise and exhilarating experience! Book him and this tour! I promise you will not be disappointed.

We really enjoyed the 2 hour "Jeep Tour" in the military Humvee. The scenery was fabulous as expected, but the information on history in the area, geology, and ranching in the west was delicious icing on the cake.
As a caution, however, this is an unfiltered experience through very, very steep and rough terrain. None the less, that made the experience all the more fun and memorable for us.

We loved the 3 hour jeep tour. The views were amazing and our guide, Case, shared so much interesting history about the Canyon.

We stopped in and we were able to schedule an hour tour with Case. It was quite an adventure and he is so knowledgeable about the area. We saw Reas of the canyon we would not have seen otherwise. Be prepared for an adventurous rough ride!

My brother and I had a great time on the Jeep (Humvee) tour of the Palo Duro Canyon. We did the 2-hour trip to the bottom of the canyon. Case also stopped several times to allow us to explore and gave us interesting history as well. We were originally scheduled for 2pm, but he asked us to move it to 4:30 for a scheduling issue, which was no problem and in fact with the sunset showed the canyon in beautiful colors we would have missed otherwise. I highly recommend this fun trip to any family - but they should be big enough to HOLD ON!!!

Our family of 5 had a great time with Case on the 2 hour jeep tour. He was a wealth of knowledge and provide a true Texas experience. The ride is exciting and fun from the ranch all the way down to the bottom of the canyon with stop along the way to enjoy the views and take pictures. Highly recommend!

A must do! We did the three hour jeep tour with Tom. He was a great driver (thankfully) and host. The tour is on the land privately owned by Palo Duro Ranch. The views of the canyon are the best we’ve seen. It was stunning and better than our hikes. The jeep tour is scary and exciting. There were 9 people on the tour. We didn’t know the others but they were great .
Much of tour was like a Disney roller coaster ride. It is in an open air Hummer and you sit on benches in the back. It was cold but they provided blankets. Wear layers or bring sunscreen in the summer. Hold on and have a great times

***A must try Experience!*** The 2 hour Hummer Tour was Awesome. Beautiful views and great tour guide. Lots of knowledge and jokes. Fun ride up and down steep trails but the Hummer powers through like a champ. Family own business. You start riding close to the rim of the canyon and work your way down to the bottom then back up. They stop for you to take pictures at a old water fall and a cliff that has separated from the canyon that you can jump out onto.

We LOVED our Jeep tour with Case as our driver/tour guide. It was intense! Best part: the roller coaster portion- click click click, then AAAIIIEEEE, holding on for dear life. Case took care of us and taught some history along the way. Well worth your time and money.

My wife and I had an absolutely great time today. We took the three hour jeep tour with Chase as our driver and guide. We saw views that are not accessible any other way. Chase is a treasure trove of southwestern and local history as well as the local geology of the canyon. He has quite a sense of humor and kept the entire group entertained the whole time. The three hour tour we took seemed like an hour. I would highly recommend this tour.

The three hour tour is worth it! Beautiful views, ability to explore canyon, and tons of history. Must do!!
I have some back problems and did not find the ride on the Jeep difficult
