Perfect for the family!
Whether it’s the history, the natural scenery, or the interactive areas the Carillon Historical Park is a landmark that will be enjoyed by the whole family. Truthfully, you could spend all day here or split it up amongst a few days. The museum has both indoor and outdoor area to be entertained which is great depending on the time of year. We look forward to coming back through the seasons!
We really enjoyed the food at the Brewery as well!

I had a lot of fun exploring the park and museums. It took about 2.5 hours to get through about half of the park. There's more buildings than I could fit in a single trip. Not sure if there's enough left to warrant a second trip but I'd recommend visiting once if you're in the area.

Carillon Historical Park is an absolute gem, blending rich history, innovation, and natural beauty into a seamless experience. The park is beautifully maintained, with each exhibit, including the awe-inspiring 1905 Wright Flyer III, thoughtfully curated to offer comprehensive insights into the region's significant past. What truly enhances the visit are the very friendly employees, who eagerly approach visitors with fascinating information about the exhibits, adding depth and engagement to the experience. A delightful surprise is the on-site printing company that crafts cards with kids' names free of charge, a charming touch that delights both young visitors and their families. Additionally, the Carillon Brewing Co. provides a taste of history with its historically accurate brewing process, making it the perfect spot to conclude a day of exploration. Carillon Historical Park is not just about revisiting the past; it's a vibrant, educational outing where history comes alive through passionate storytelling, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in exploring America's rich technological and cultural heritage in a beautifully curated and welcoming environment.

First time visiting here. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Didn't get to explore everything, there is so much to explore. Definitely will go back to explore more of the park. The Cafe is absolutely off the charts amazing. The Culp Burger & fires were amazing. I tired the phosphate blue raspberry drink & it was amazing. Definitely would recommend visiting & eating here. It is somewhat expensive at the Cafe, but I believe worth the money. Entry into the park is reasonable price as well.

This place is a nice area to go for a walk and to experience the history of the railroad and The Wright brothers.
$12 for adults and 3 and under are free admission. Train rides are available base on a schedule. Mini train rides for children and grownups as well that last about 5-8 minutes long. The park itself is nice and well keep. Restaurant on sight and clean restrooms are available along with wheelchair parking.
Come here for a nice outing with family. It was a great experience and something to do that can take up most of your day and get fresh air as well as learning something new 🙂.

A great experience overall with a lot of incredible history. I love that the goal is to build up Dayton and all the incredible people who played a part in its history.
Admittedly I did come with a school so things are probably ran a little different when there are busloads of students coming at once.
Employees are a little intense about who qualifies for train rides and carousel rides. Why not just include it in admission prices?
I understand you need to make money but also the kids already paid to get in, is that dollar really making that big of a difference if the train is already running and so is the carousel?
Morgan Perryman — Google review
We toured the historical park as a group, with the help of a really affable and knowledgeable guide. The many things we learned about the Wright Brothers, their personalities, their numerous inventions and innovations, and their family made it a truly engaging experience. Highly recommend!
Deb Stellrecht — Google review
I didn't know what to expect, but this is a really nice park. I went for the Wright Bros Museum but all the other stuff was equally fascinating. Lots of exhibits scattered throughout period buildings really made for an enjoyable afternoon. The brewery on property is also nice and serves old fashioned sodas in addition to beer and German food.
Matthew Schneider — Google review
Very well laid out exhibit and informative, nice to walk around and see lots of local history. Dayton great flood, transportation, Wright Bros. Can’t wait to see the 1/4 scale train when it opens up late 2022. Climbing the 120 step Brethren Clock tower you can see the current incomplete miniature train track layout. Enjoyed the visit.
Charles Wain — Google review
Came here in august and loved every minute of it. I was sad that a few of the exhibits were closed, but there was still a lot to see. We spent a good amount of time with the trains and the Wright brothers exhibit. The couple's that gave us the tours were all so sweet too. This wasn't on our list when we came to visit Dayton, but I'm so glad we did stop by. Highly reccomend.
Briana Harrier — Google review
🛩️🖨️ and a lot more history.
Volunteers/ workers here are passionate about local history.
Large space with different buildings and facilities 🚻
I would recommend to allocate 3-4 hrs to see it all.
Entry price 💲 was a little higher than what I think would be fair.

Our family love this place! We try to always go to the kid friendly events they host. This weekend it was the antique fire apparatus event. Highly recommend coming to Carillon Historical Park with a membership. (Most events are free with membership) you also get discounts at the stores.

Great variety of Dayton related historical artifacts and presentations, highly recommend a stop. Displays range from the Wright Brothers cycling and aviation work (including their 1905 flyer on display) to impressive transportation displays with very old autos, trains, and wagons. The oldest standing house in Dayton is here too, along with old schoolhouse, mill, and other displays. I was very impressed and spent hours here. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable.
A Nabs — Google review
Had no idea this place was so huge and filled with so many incredible artifacts. We went just to see the Wright Brothers exhibit but ended up spending all day touring cash registers, printing presses, steam engines, cars and so much more! A definite must see in Dayton.
Jeanne Cumby — Google review
We stopped here for a couple hours on the way back to Wisconsin from Dayton, and we were pleasantly surprised! The cash registers were very fascinating and a really cool look into the history of commerce in this country. Some of the museum inside felt a bit like capitalistic propaganda at times, but that's how these old products were sold in those times and it was fascinating nonetheless.
We also checked out the Wright museum and the old houses and school house as well as the train museum here. The tour of the Wright brothers' first few planes was really great. Seeing the reconstruction of the 1905 flyer was really awe inspiring. The amount of human ingenuity on display in this museum was palpable and really hit home as to the huge strides in technology we've been achieving over the last 200+ years.
The train museum was also really fun to see. Going inside the old trains and imagining how traveling worked back in those times was also really great to see.
For some reason, this museum made for a more impactful experience of human history than a lot of other museums out there. It's a museum of human progress and human genius instead of human setbacks and human tragedies. I really enjoyed it and the next time we're in Dayton with the kids, we'll for sure be going back and maybe take a train tour of the grounds next time!
Ryan Boelter — Google review
I didn’t know what to expect from this museum/historical park, but I was pleasantly surprised! Lots of interesting history and fun facts about the innovators and entrepreneurs from Dayton. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. And of course, they have a Wright Flyer! Definitely worth a visit.
Eileen Schaumleffle — Google review
The park is beautiful with the Christmas lights and the views are awesome. Lines are fairly long on the weekend, and do buy tickets in advance...or buy a membership. It's well worth it.
Food options are standard, but there's a nice selection of adult beverages, including Glühwein/mulled wine. Lots of unique, "Dayton" gift options. The note cards made in the print shop were lovely.
All of the historical displays are open. The Carillon "tree" is breathtaking.
Go, only Scrooge or Grinch would be disappointed. And I'm sure they'd change their minds after a train ride around the park.
Annmarie Wolcott — Google review
One of the best museums in the state, 14 dollars is more than fair to enter, especially with the history that is preserved within. Absolutely fascinating place. It requires more than a day, you should dedicate 2 days. The print shop, Wright Brothers, Kettering ACDelco, NCR....so much to see.
Wes GS — Google review
This place was awesome. Who knew so much history was in Dayton Ohio! I thought it was so informational and fun, and our kids had a great time!
Bryce Tarnasky — Google review
One of my favorite places in the city. I love hanging out watching for the Eagles who have a made their home here from several years ago. I remember when I was young my mom took my sister and I over by the river and all of these people were holding hands making a human chain together on each side of the banks. (I was so young I don't remember why. I just know it was a neat memory for me and I was happy I got to be there.) I recently went to A Carillon Christmas and had a great time! Took the train ride which was my favorite part. Took home some keepsakes from the gift shops. The bells looked beautiful and you can see it from the new train there or walk right up. Wonderful place. I'll be there looking for the Eagles on a nice day while reminiscing about all the great times I've had there.

I was born and raised near Dayton, and hadn’t visited Carillon Park since I was in 5th grade. It has expanded so much, and truly does a brilliant job at transporting its visitors back in time. I took my daughter and two friends here, and we had a blast! It helps that we all enjoy museums, art and history, and attended on a perfect Fall weekday. We spent a solid 4 hours walking around and really observing everything. The staff was wonderful and was quick to give us more insights into the history. Highly recommend for any and all ages! I definitely left having learned something new. Will gladly visit again!
Kings Island is a vast amusement park with thrilling rides, including roller coasters and a wave pool. The park features a lifelike exhibit of dinosaurs that adds to the excitement. Along with restaurants, shops and novelties, Kings Island offers seasonal celebrations such as Halloween haunt and winter fest. With their 50th anniversary, they have added new attractions which makes it an exciting experience for visitors of all ages.
I've been to Kings Island several since I was young. I have always enjoyed it. There is literally a small community here of restaurants, shops and novelties. The rides are exceptional. They have even seemed to add a few new ones since my last visit. Their seasonal celebrations keep things fresh through the year. The family looks forward to their Halloween haunt and winter fest in the off season. We decided to get the gold pass this year considering it's their 50th anniversary. So far we are not disappointed. A large section of the park dedicated to the younger kids will help us get our money's worth. Especially with summer coming up we are really looking forward to the water park.

Went for Winter Fest 2022. Great experience for all ages. Amazing Christmas lights display, most of the little kids rides open, and about a dozen or so rides open for kids of all ages. There was various themed musical performance happening at almost every turn. Hot cocoa stands everywhere. They turn the fountain area into an ice skating rink ($). Lots of places to eat, and step inside to get warm. All handicap accessible.
Jon Key — Google review
It's a simply better version of Cedar Point. Way more relaxed. The wait times are shorter, and the rides seem to be working 90% of the time.
I will say, get the dining pass. The food is extra fantastic here. The BBQ place is excellent. On the same token, the drink pass is a great idea as well and a good value. You don't have to go far to find either a drink refill station or a eatery.
For parents with young kids, I will say this has a much better kids area than Cedar Point. Also, restroom cleanliness is pretty good for an amusement park, and the restrooms seem distributed better than other places.

King's Island is an incredible amusement park in Cincinnati! It offers a wide range of thrilling rides and attractions that cater to all ages. The park is well-maintained, clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
The variety of roller coasters at King's Island is impressive. From the exhilarating drops and twists of the Beast and Diamondback to the fast-paced thrills of Banshee and Mystic Timbers, there's a coaster for every thrill-seeker. The rides are well-designed and provide an unforgettable adrenaline rush.
In addition to the coasters, King's Island offers a great selection of other attractions. The water park, Soak City, is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. The live entertainment shows are entertaining and add to the overall fun atmosphere of the park.
The dining options at King's Island are diverse and tasty. From classic amusement park fare like funnel cakes and hot dogs to more diverse options, there's something to satisfy every palate. The prices are reasonable, considering the quality and variety of food available.
One of the highlights of King's Island is the Eiffel Tower replica, which provides stunning panoramic views of the park. It's a great spot to take memorable photos and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings.
Overall, King's Island is a top-notch amusement park with thrilling rides, friendly staff, and a great selection of dining options. Whether you're a coaster enthusiast or looking for family-friendly fun, this park has it all. Highly recommended for an unforgettable day of adventure!

One of the best amusement parks in the country! Great rides and entertainment! 15 roller coasters in total! Planet Snoopy kids area is ranked among the top in the country every year. A lot of variety when it comes to eating including restaurants and food stands. Great shopping is also offered for all your souvenirs! Park is extremely clean! The staff is wonderful and will answer any and all of your questions! Plenty of parking in the massive parking lot. Definitely a must visit if you love rides and attractions! You will not be disappointed and have a blast!

First time at King’s Island! There was always an allure to the park when I would drive past it on 71. I got to go during the Christmas Lights, so a couple rides were open but most of the big ones were shut down. Still a great time! Did bumper cars, ate some carnival food, rode the alien ride, got some great photos. A great day full of great memories. My heart will always be with Cedar Point (my first love) but I’m excited to come back to King’s Island in the summer.
Collin Marshall — Google review
I love Kings Island. This park has always been fun, but, over the last fifteen years or so, it has been transformed into a first class place. So many great coasters, including some, like Orion, Diamondback, Mystic Timbers, and Banshee, that are the best anywhere, along with classics like The Beast and The Racer, and a ton of smaller yet still fun rides, like The Bat, one of the last Arrow swinging coasters, and the Arrow mine train, Adventure Express. Combine this great coaster collection with an impressive selection of flat rides, excellent staff and operations, exclusive merchandise, local food, top notch cleanliness, a great kids area, and so many fun celebrations like Haunt and Winterfest, and you have a park that's easy to get to and easy to spend the whole day. Go there, run back to Orion for your first ride of the day (and jump back on if you can) and leave time for the train and the antique cars and a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Plus save room for blue ice cream!
Matthew Hysell — Google review
Love this amusement park- both the roller coasters and Soak city. We enjoyed the rides in the morning, then Skyline chili for lunch, and went to the water park in the afternoon. Wonderful variety of tubes, body slides, two wave pools, plenty of lounge chairs too. We went in a Fri and the lines were manageable- long for some rides, not too long for others. The Beast does not disappoint! My husband and I rode the Racer back in 1998 when it went backwards, but it no longer does, so we rode it again for old times sake, still fun ride! We enjoyed the fireworks at 10pm, and had Graeters ice cream to end the night. Terrific day!
Cinr98 Roh — Google review
Kings Island was extremely fun! Definitely come earlier in the day to make your moneys worth because it can get pretty expensive. I loved all the rides I went on. Diamondback and Orion had huge drops that had me holding on for dear life and personally, the scariest ones for me were Flight over Fear and the Banshee. Food options over at Kings Island were also good and there was a good amount of scary and fun rides. If you want a relaxing but also thrilling ride, I definitely recommend Whitewater Canyon, it was personally one of my favorites.

This is a really nice amusement park! We have the annual gold season pass which is great. We also booked the food and drink pass which pays off by them self if you life nearby.
The roller coaster 🎢 are a lot of fun and fits from young until old 😀
The water park is also great, you’re able to spend hours 😀😀
Food: don’t expect a high class restaurant… but some of them are really good compared with the amount of food which they have to provide.
We love this park, it’s safe and great for visiting.
Michael Nitz — Google review
This place is awesome! Kings island is the third best theme park I’ve ever gone to (first is Epcot, and second is magic kingdom). I’m a chicken on coasters, and the beast, mystic timbers, and backlot stunt coaster is the best. As a Cincinnati local, it is always nice to go up to ki for a couple hours to ride the beast and leave. Worth the money every time.
Landon Johnson — Google review
Absolutely impressive!! I’m blown away by what a beautiful park this is. I’ve been to all the major parks around the country and this is in the top 3. There’s something for everyone, all ages and food galore. Fright Fest is amazing, decorated top-notch. The passes are a super good deal and includes parking which saves you $25 bucks! They also aid the disabled with more than reasonable accommodations.
Shawna Collette — Google review
This park really has some great rides now with the addition of Orion. While there I noticed that the park was kept clean and the employees I interacted with were very friendly. Another thing noticed is that there was a good amount of security personnel as well. There are also some older rides here that are a bit shaky, but I was quite surprised with mystic timbers since I last rode it in 2017 when it opened and it's still a smooth wooden coaster. I also got food here and it was quite good. Lastly the weekdays at this park are usually light so not allot of wait times.
George Terplan — Google review
Was delighted to see that the park that I had such wonderful childhood memories from 2 family visits had not only held up, but had exceedingly improved over the years. Highly recommend spending at least two days here if you are coming from out of town to get a chance to ride everything that you want. Great family atmosphere, and though our son is now old enough to ride all the big coasters, there is a great kiddie land for the little ones as well.
Dan Herdman — Google review
Had a great time. It had been way too long since the last time I was there. Really enjoyed the Orion and Diamond Head. We were there for a private event and then got to stay and check out the Haunt. If you enjoy Halloween and all the spooky displays and haunted houses etc. You will really enjoy Kings Island Haunt. We sure did!!!
Frank Baker — Google review
We had a wonderful family weekend. The service by employees was outstanding. The food was just as good. All rides were operating and their Halloween haunt was set up as spectacular as always! We got fast lane passes and every dollar spent on this trip was well worth the memories! I’d like to add that my son has a cardiac pacemaker and the security did a fantastic job recognizing his ID card and knowing just what to do and not do. It hasn’t always been that way at KI and it’s obvious they are now trained well and everything went smoothly with that too!! Thank you KI for getting everything right!❤️

Winterfest 2023. Great time, they claim to have 7 million lights this year and I believe them. Many different themed branches of the park with lights on every surface. The parade was a blast for all ages and really brought out the Christmas spirit in everyone. Only downside would be the lack of rides but I was fine with not getting frostbite from the Orion.
Steven Hoover — Google review
Pretty fun amusement park, especially during Christmas time when they have the ice rink up. It is certainly Ohio based with certain features like corn and chili, but they have some awesome gluten-free options which are particularly nice. I have only gone during December, so I can’t say for sure, but both times the staff were oddly unfriendly. It’s definitely no Disney, but it is nice.

So I'm from California, where know is open 365 days a year, this place was open for a very short period of time, they were open until x12/31 and open back up 04/29 yet season passes for 5, meal plans and drinks plans plus the park plan cost me over $2000, for less than half a year of fun is not very worth it. Now i have to admit they have rides better then the ones comparable to knotts, but i could go to knows any day i want and eat and ride all i want. Plus my meal plan didn't transfer correctly and i had the platinum plan

Went for the Halloween Haunt. Had Fast Passes. Had an AMAZING TIME! Fast passes are definitely worth it the money! Rode every ride twice within 2 hours and seen all the spooky sites. Very nicely decorated. Coasters scary AF after dark!

Came for Winter fest December 2023 and what a treat!!! Bought tickets in advance and through security and ticket line with a very small wait.... What an entrance with the ice skating rink in the front/middle and lined with all sorts of pieces to eat and multiple options, then in the backdrop the Eiffel Tower draped with memorizing hundreds of feet long stands of lights, just a thing of beauty!!!! Hot chocolate options all over and sweet shops around every corner.... Great job owners and management as every single staff member we ran across ( which had to be 50+ ) was very nice and polite....roller coasters of course down for the winter but they had a bunch of rides available for the little ones to the bigger kiddos.... Can't wait to be back

It's a really good amusement park. It's well-staffed, with washrooms nearby and food options available at most corners, although the food prices are a bit high, as expected. The parking lot is quite spacious. I particularly enjoyed the Mystic Timbers ride as it's pretty fast.

We did the kidnapping room and had so much fun. The room and clues were so smart and so well played together. There was a group of 8 of us and we all were able to partake without feeling unneeded or that there were too many people in the room. Our game master, Ryan, was great and so fun to work with. Highly recommend Breakout Games and we will definitely be back to try out the other rooms!

We did the Island Escape, 3 adults, 1 teen (birthday boy), and 4 children ranging in age from 5 to 9. Austin was our Game Master and he did an awesome job. It was so much fun. We broke out in 50 minutes with minimal help and all the kids were clamoring to do another one! So much fun!

It was so fun! I do feel like they could make it a little bit easier, because it kind of felt like we would never figure the clues out. Overall, I would rate this a super fun experience! Definitely something I would come back to! -11yo daughter

Such a great time! Our game master Moss was fun, friendly and helpful. Have been several times and each different game always has unique and fun challenges. Will of course come back again until we run out of games!

Our Girl Scout Troop had so much fun doing the breakout rooms. They accommodated us with two different games and rooms for the size of our group. We had two different game masters. The group I was with had Val, who was AMAZING. We had a younger group who were very nervous, cautious, and get scared easily but she was absolutely sweet and gave us good hints or warned us when things might pop out. What was really great about Val is that she was so encouraging even though we didn't finish in the time limit. I would hands down go back again and request Val!!

It was an amazing and fun experience. I took my girlfriend out to escape from one of the rooms and we managed to do it with the two of us. It was challenging, thrilling and fun all at the same time. I recommend everyone to give it a try. The experience was even better thanks to our game master Ryan. He was able to help us when we were stuck but not give the answers away. Thank you guys for the great night!

We had a 64 yr old, a 41 yr old, 26(ish) yr old, & an 11 yr old.
We ALL had a blast, had :59 left and cannot wait to go back! We did Runaway train, everyone had something to do, nobody felt left out. Great bonding experience, don’t be afraid to ask for help, they were watching the whole time.just let us know when we were headed in right direction without actually GIVING us a significant step! Totally recommend!

My family and I LOVE breakout rooms as a way to spend quality time together. It’s always such a fun experience, and Brandon was so so kind and was silly with us when we made dumb jokes about the story line. It was interactive in the best way, and we can’t wait to come back! ☺️

This was my third or fourth time here, and have loved it every single time! We did the Wild West room and our game master was Seana. She was absolutely amazing, and the room was incredibly fun!
Went again with a different group tonight. We did the Mystery Mansion and it was also a lot of fun. Oliver was the game master this time, and did excellent as well.

i had my birthday at breakout games and it was an amazing experience like always. our game master was Megan and we loved working with her! she was able to give us hint and clues without taking out the fun of finding things out on our own. we did museum heist and i was very impressed by the different ways to solve clues, aka not everything was opening a pad lock. i love the diversity of the workers at break out games and the environment that they make. definitely want to work here when i am old enough!!

Super fun! We had 5 adults and a 14 year old. It was fun for all of us, we did the submarine escape. The room looked very cool! Our game master Fable was great and helped us when we got super stuck at the end 😅 My only complaint would be the room was a little to warm for all of us. But I would still recommend and visit again.

We had a blast! We were celebrating our daughter’s 30th birthday! We did the Runaway Train Escape Room. Ash was AMAZING as our guide! He assisted us with a few clues, was pleasant and made it a fun experience! We finished under 50 minutes! We will be back!

If i could id rate them with more than 100 stars!! This was one of the most undoubtedly amazing experiences I've gotten to do thus far in my lifetime. We went in as a group of 5 for part of a bridal shower day of events, we all had so much fun even though there were frustrating times. I would highly recommend trying an escape room at least once in your life. The employees are great and kind as well!! I will definitely be going back to do this again, of course a different room/challenge.

Awesome escape room! We did the kidnapping and our Gamemaster Nebula was amazing! Super helpful and gave just enough of a hint to get us going without giving away the game. Super cool setup and really makes you think. 10/10 would recommend and can’t wait to try their other games… they have 8 different setups I believe. Great experience!!

We had my daughters 15th birthday here with 4 of her friends. They did the kidnapping room with Brandon as their game master and did he a great job. My wife and I waited out in the front waiting room and heard our group cheering and yelling. One of the girls in our group said it was a great adrenaline rush!

We had so much fun taking our son to the Mystery Mansion!! Kelly was our game master and she was amazing. She really made the experience so great! Definitely recommend this as a fun and unique family activity!

It was a great family experience. We had a vet emergency where one of our kids was held up and wouldn't make it for our appointment time. I called and asked what our options were and they said they could hold our room until we got there due to no one booking after us. The entire family had a great time and the staff was amazing. We will definitely be going back.

My friends and I had an awesome venture! We were given good clues, she was able to help when our chains were tangled and she explained the rest of the clues that we missed. We also got free pizza for failing the escape room😎

Went here as a birthday date with my friend and we chose the kidnapping room, we had a blast and escaped with time to spare! Brandon was wonderful through the whole experience, I have never had a more delightful game master! He encouraged us and did not interfere unless asked. Thank you. Brandon for making this a wonderful experience!!!!!
Tropical-themed water park with white sand & palm trees, slides, rides, play areas & an arcade.
This is the best waterpark I've ever been to plz open it back up I especially love the big red slide

Myself and my son really enjoyed this place! I didn't find out about it until this year but wanted to explore new places with my son...the slides were great...very friendly except one employee at the food staff was super rude! Also, they do need to constantly clean up the leaves in the lazy river. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves for 2 days straight at this park! We will be going back!

Lazy river is filthy, many slides have nearly no water pressure, people get stuck on many of the slides and have to scoot down. Water is dirty in some of the pools, and the staff is very rude and doesn't seem to care about anything. We complained to the staff about all of this and no one cared. Food is bad and overpriced. The bathrooms are also disgusting. The only decent thing we experienced was the wave pool. It's a shame the park is so poorly maintained because it's such a neat location among all the trees and it used to be so nice. But it has just gone downhill. Some of the things I can easily overlook, but the lack of water pressure on the slides is really the deal breaker. And I have seen many other reviews commenting about the same issue.

Labor Day was the perfect day to go and they honored my Groupon that excluded that holiday. I really wish there were more umbrellas by the wave pool and a cleaner Lazy River.
Rose West — Google review
About half the rides were shut down because they didn't have the staff to man them. 6 of 7 ticket counters were closed, so a long line at the one open counter. Same story at the concession stands - long lines and not enough help. The rides that were open were fun, but since everyone was crowded onto the few open rides, again, long lines.
The place could be nice, but it has a tired, worn look and wasn't very clean. Not enough shade, not enough chairs or tables. I suppose they wanted us to put all of our stuff in one of their $15.00 lockers. The $10.00 parking charge was another unpleasant surprise. The rides all posted 250-pound weight limits for riders, but this was never enforced, raising questions about this establishment's safety culture.
XingjianR — Google review
This is our new favorite water park! The prices were reasonable from tickets to food. The park was extremely clean, lifeguards were attentive, and the setting was so nicely done intertwined with nature. I have a teen down to a 5yr old and they all had a blast at this park! My favorite part was that it was not busy. I am tired of paying a fortune to wait in line all day and receive poor customer service like other larger water parks. This was unforgettable and we will be back!
Megan Block — Google review
While the rides that were open were fun, there were a significant number of slides that were closed that poorly reflected the park on a day that a lot of new people would come (a carload of people for $50 after 4 pm). When all of the slides are open, I imagine that the park is much more appealing and operates a lot more smoothly especially if the park is fully staffed. If you go, don't expect for all of the slides to be open.

Great staff, friendly people, and Live Reggae on Sundays keep me coming back. Season Passes are reasonably priced..and there's beer! :-)
I've been coming for years and have made several longtime Friends as a result of my visits there.
There's a kiddie section for the little ones and plenty to do for everyone else. I would definitely recommend a visit.
Gregory Marshall — Google review
No ATM on site. Bathrooms were gross. So understaffed that half the slides were closed.
I bought a voucher online expecting to skip the line, nope. Had to stand in a 30 person line to go through ticket office for entry.
That said, my family had fun on what was available to ride. There aren't too many steps for the slides and the wait times were typically less than 10-15 minutes. The treads of the steps, however, were in heavy disrepair and will incinerate your feet if they have been in direct sunlight. We had a breezy, slightly cloudy day when we went so it was mixed bag of cool to the touch and volcanic fire.
Other than general refurbishment and limited slide availability, we would still go back and do it again.

It was a fun place to go BUT.... was VERY Disappointed when you couldn't bring in any kind of snack or drink. They only let you bring in a bottle of water. We had to go out to the parking lot to eat our snacks. In my opinion that is a CRAZY rule. They only offer pop, slushie, beer, mix drinks, tea. Which I don't drink. It was an extremely hot day and all I wanted was water. There pop cup is $10😳 X 3kids and $1 for refills. CRAZY. $20 FOR SENIORS (seriously) to get in the park. My daughter did get tickets cheaper on Groupon for her 3 girls and herself.

Opening day here and the water is full of debris. Yuck. The pearl pool is supposed to be warm and it's not. This place is showing its age. Regretting not getting a Kings Island season pass instead.
Karen DeHart — Google review
It was nice. We went today, on a nice cool Wednesday. Not busy at all. Price was great. Food was priced well. The employees were nice. The pools did have some debris but there are lots of trees for shade so it's understandable the wind would blow leaves into the pool as quickly as they were cleaning them. I would give it a higher rating but they don't have any pads or tampons for women in the bathrooms.

Awesome place, perfect for family time, a lot of water slides...
The National Museum of the United States Air Force houses a vast array of aircraft, military artifacts and exhibits on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base just outside Dayton. The museum is huge, and visitors can explore everything from displays covering Air Force Art to world war II bomber jackets to hundreds of whole aircraft. The museum has an on-site cafe that's a great place to rest after a long day of exploring.
This place has an incredible amount of information and exhibits. They have free tours that guide you through the history of aviation, presidential planes pre-1970, quite a few real planes and many more items. It was not busy when we arrived and it wasn't busy when we left. They have a cafe on site (Valkyrie cafe) and although I didn't eat there, it seemed like a basic place to grab a quick bite. My four year old kids enjoyed it. We will likely be back when they get a bit older. The staff was incredibly nice. Overall a very pleasant experience.

This is by far the greatest air museum I have been to!! Judging from the other reviews here or any where else, the place totally does not disappoint! You and your family definitely should spend a day and you'll see. It's FREE admission and parking. There's plenty of displays and definitely gives honor to the service men and women of the past and present. I would love to visit again! (When they open the Early Days of flight)

This place is huge and has so many planes! It's very informative of all the wars and how the planes came about. I really liked that it had places you could stop and watch a video of people speaking about their experiences. The air force one planes were tight! If you are claustrophobic I do not recommend :D
They were setting up for an air force dinner ball and everyone that came looked amazing!
Gift shop had a lot of fun things you can purchase.

Massive museum with an extensive collections of planes from the beginnings of aviation until today.
Definitely could spend days in there and still have material to read and learn.
A great museum for any history, military or aviation buff.
Lots of walking ( smart watch clocked 6 miles indoors!) so be ready for those distances.

Took my girlfriend here for a surprised trip and we had such a great experience. Since she's a teacher, she enjoyed reading all the history and facts about the planes and about the equipment used in the wars. I love how clean this place was and spread out so it never felt crowded. I recommend spending about 2 days here if you want to get the full experience and read everything. About 1 day if you just want to look at everything. Great gift shop and cafeteria too.

After 15+ years, I managed to return to this museum, and I was impressed by the changes. -including a new building.
The museum covers flight from the earliest days all the way to current space vehicles
If you go, wear comfortable shoes and bring a spare battery for your camera. The docents are helpful and know details of the exhibits. I do recommend making a donation and getting a site map so you can target sections to visit. I suspect I will find an excuse to return sometime soon.

The exhibits are great. I have visited twice before and would come back again to see the exhibits.
The parking lot has two electric chargers with four parking spots. The charging is slower than my home charger but is at a decent charging rate of about 30 miles per hour.
The food court is expensive. Cost about $50 for one adult and two kids for food and drinks.
Most ridiculous is that there is NO water station anywhere in the museum. I understood that water fountains are not safe in this pandemic. However, at least the museum should put water bottle fill stations.
Other than staying thirsty, your only option is to visit the cafe and pay $2.75 for a bottle of water.
In the cafe, there is NO plastic recycling for the plastic package and the water bottles. As a public institution, the museum should do better on recycling.

This is such an awesome museum. They have so many airplanes to look at. If you are an airplane enthusiast set aside at least a whole day to spend here. There is so much history in this museum. They also have some simulators you can try out, those cost money. Be warned, the cafe is very expensive. If you can I recommend eating elsewhere. The gift shop is awesome and has all kinds of cool things to get.

This place is a great learning experience for anyone who wants to know about military or the planes involved and the aircraft in general. Seeing it up close is a beautiful thing because from TV or just photos you can't really tell the true size of this place as well as the aircraft inside. Very beautifully taken care of great summertime fun nice and cool on the inside. Great for the whole family! Definitely worth visiting!!! They even have a gift shop and a food area.

It was an amazing experience! The museum is so huge, and there are so many different aircraft to see! Lots of experimental and hard-to-find aircraft, and from so many different time periods. There is also a large collection of presidential aircraft which you can walk through and a missile collection. An outstanding collection that you could easily spend a few days looking at. Great place for history enthusiasts and aviation nuts. Would highly recommend.

Awesome place from start to finish! The lady at the beginning who helped show us things on the map that we wanted to see was VERY helpful. This is an incredible place for aviation enthusiasts, people interested in history, little kids amazed by big vehicles, etc. Everyone should try to make it here at least once. Even the bathrooms were good, the facility was clean, and the gift shop had lots of good quality fun things to choose from. We'll definitely be back!

You can get a sweeping view of Air Force and military aviation progress at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, the world’s largest and oldest military aviation museum. There are more than 360 aircraft and aerospace vehicles on display, many rare and one-of-a-kind. In addition, you’ll find thousands of historical aviation artifacts. If you love the Air Force, aviation or the military in general, you will want to visit. We have been to several service national museums and this one is one of the best. Highly recommend visiting. Would definitely suggest to plan to visit with 4-5 hours available. Museum admission and parking are free (fee for theater and flight simulators).

I had a limited amount of time to view the display. I was blown away by the size of some of the aircraft. You just don't have a true feel for some of these aerospace vehicles until you're standing right next to it. Service is great. The facility was very clean. I took advantage of their free mobility cart because of an injury. I would not have been able to view much of the displays but I was able to make it through all the buildings without being an excruciating pain which is a win-win for me. I highly recommend it.

Simply incredible, and FREE to enter. So many amazing planes. Probably the only place you can see 2 different SR71 models in the same museum. Some other favorites there were the YF 23, F 117 and the B2. The prototype planes were neat too. It took me about two hours just to look at everything and read maybe 15%. If you are near and have more than 2 hours you need to go

I had a great 3 hours in the museum. I wasn't expecting so many air and space craft. It took quite a bit just to walk around. I got an hour tour of hanger 4 from Dennis - and it was AMAZING. Dennis served in the Air Force so he had his own stories but was incredibly knowledgeable about the entire museum and each plane. Just a fantastic experience. A must see!

Free to get in!
I recently visited the Air Force museum and was pleasantly surprised by the extensive indoor and outdoor exhibits they had to offer. The museum was filled with a lot of people, more than I had planned for, but it added to the energetic atmosphere of the place.
The indoor exhibits were informative and well-curated, showcasing the history and advancements of the Air Force over the years. I particularly enjoyed the displays of vintage planes and helicopters, as well as the interactive exhibits that allowed visitors to get a hands-on experience of what it's like to be a pilot.
The outdoor exhibits were equally impressive, with a wide range of aircraft displayed in an open-air setting. It was fascinating to see the different planes up close and learn about their unique features and capabilities.
One thing to note is that weapons are not allowed on the premises, so be sure to leave those at home. However, this didn't detract from the overall experience, as the museum had plenty of other interesting things to see and do.
Overall, I had a great time at the Air Force museum and would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in aviation or military history. The exhibits were engaging, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and I left feeling enriched by all that I had learned during my visit.

This is hands down one of my favorite museums. I've been 4-5 times now and love bringing friends and family for their first time. The staff is fantastic and the tours are incredible. You could spend all day here and learn so much. It would be hard to fit everything into one day if you do all the tours. They are free and 100% worth it.

Lot of history and plenty of planes to see. It's definitely a place for all age groups, especially for those who love history and big planes. The place is huge so I'd encourage you to carry plenty of fluids. The entry into Air Force One was great, although it's not a newer plane. I would plan for a full day visit so you get ample time to see everything. Don't miss the theater show and be sure to check the show timings ahead of visit.

This place this incredible! To begin its 100% free! How can you beat that. Besides that this place is a history bombshell! Tons of history in this place beyond just military. They have stuff dedicated to the beginning of flight. Then they progress through flight throughout history starting with world war I moving to world war II then the Vietnam and korean war and moving to modern flight. The end is space flight and presidential planes. Awesome place. Interactive for kids and more information than you can take in for a single visit. Will have to return.

AWESOME experience! If you are a history museum fan, if you love airplanes, if you want to see the biggest collection of aero history in one place, you have to plan to visit!
The museum is free to attend. They ask for a donation. Parking is free and plenty of it. We walked through all the hangers and spent the entire day at the museum (which is so easy to do because there is so much to see!!). There are free guided tours (see website in advance to see times and hangers) that give so much information about the planes and history. I was at this museum when I was a kid- it’s been over 30 years- and now my first time back with my own kids, it was way better and far exceeded my expectations! My husband who is military, my 10 year old son- all completely blown away at this gem of a museum!
We will definitely be going back at some point! Worth doing again!
Do plan to spend the whole day.
Don’t forget the planes outside too!
There is a cafe. Only water in clear bottles allowed. But if you pack a cooler there are covered shelters outside for a picnic lunch.

Wow. So much to see. I am sure we barely touched the surface. There were so many things to hear and read about. The museum is donation based only. There is a simulator you can pay to ride. The Dayton Air Force Museum is an absolute must-visit for anyone with even a passing interest in aviation, history, or the U.S. Air Force. This museum is a journey through the evolution of aviation and the incredible achievements of the United States Air Force.
Upon entering, you're greeted by an array of aircraft, from the early Wright Brothers' creations to the most advanced and iconic fighter jets of today. The collection is impeccably maintained, and the attention to detail in the exhibits is impressive.
What sets this museum apart is its commitment to storytelling. The exhibits are not just about hardware; they're about the people, the missions, and the impact of the U.S. Air Force on our world. The personal stories, dioramas, and interactive displays engage visitors of all ages.
The staff is knowledgeable, passionate, and always willing to answer questions or share anecdotes, adding depth to the experience. And the best part? Admission is free, making it accessible to everyone.
Whether you're a history buff, a fan of aviation, or just looking for an enriching and enjoyable day out, the Dayton Air Force Museum delivers on all fronts. It's an educational and entertaining journey through the skies and beyond, leaving you with a newfound appreciation for the bravery and innovation that have shaped our world.

What can I say. The National Museum of the US Airforce is fantastic. I have wanted to go here for years, as it’s the only place in the world with a real flying saucer. To say I was impressed is an understatement. We have nothing like this in the UK and it puts every air museum I have been to, including in Washington DC to shame.
If you like planes, this is one place you HAVE to visit. I went a long way out of the way when driving from Chicago to Niagara Falls to visit here and it was well worth it. Over 1000 planes, covering from the Wright Brothers; from just down the road; to the very latest F-22 and B2. Though it’s a shame the B2 isn’t real and not a very good mock-up.
I would definitely recommend visiting here and its one of few places worthy of a special trip to see it. You can easily spend all day here.

It's a huge museum and very well maintained ed. We are surprised it is FREE entry. Ample parking, free again.
It took us 3.5 hours to take a quick tour. There were many exhibits of real plane remains and stuff. Many movies playing every corner showing how the remains were collected and refurbished for display. We enjoyed. There were many other interactive stations, kids loved.
Start from exhibits 3 if you have kids. They have virtual reality and other simulation rides. Some other engaging exhibits for children there.
SUPER expensive food. Not worth it at all. A small slice of co-pilot pizza, charged at 8$. Way toooo much.

My visit to this museum was truly memorable and enjoyable. The extensive collection of presidential aircraft on display was both impressive and educational, offering a unique glimpse into the history of presidential travel. The exhibits were well-maintained and thoughtfully presented, making our walk through the museum a delightful experience. However, the only downside to our visit was the limited food options available at the museum's restaurant. Beyond just chips and small snacks, there wasn't much variety for a proper meal, which was a bit disappointing. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall experience at the museum was fantastic, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in aviation or presidential history. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, adding to the positive atmosphere of our visit.

We had a great visit with an air force veteran. Most of the museum is accessible except for the space shuttle and Air Force One exhibits(the elevator to the upper level of the shuttle was out of order and the Presidential planes feature tight corridors you have to squeeze through). The Museum is well laid out and flows from one era of aviation to the next. Well worth the visit and you could definitely spend more than one day there to absorb everything there is to see.

I hadn't been here since I was a kid! I came here for the eclipse to see totality on 4/8/24; the event was extremely well organized. While the museum was very busy, the only claustrophobic moments were entering the building and using the bathroom closest to the entrance.
If you are anywhere in the Cincinnati-Dayton-Columbus area and you can take a day, visit this place. If you're an engineer in the aerospace industry, military, or just a huge fan of planes, this place will be heaven for you. Every important aircraft development in the history of the United States (and beyond) is included here.
The place is huge and packed full of details; bring your best walking shoes and pace yourself. If you don't have an entire day, get a map and find your favorites, then focus on seeing those. We spent about 3-4 hours split up by the eclipse and still could have spent another couple of hours in the place.
I left with a mix of feelings; it's a different experience when you're an adult. It has a way of getting your patriotism flowing; it is amazing what we can do when we put our minds to it. On the flip side of that, it is also frightening what we're capable of when we decide to do something; the missile gallery is a sobering reminder of this.
It was a short and fun experience of knowing how maple syrup is made.
Guide's were awesome with all explanations
The place also offers short walk trails.

The nature preserve does not belong to Ohio Parks/ Hamilton County parks.
It is privately owned, and you pay for every single person that enters EVEN your DOG. A 4 person 1 year membership is in the realm of 100 dollars. The person who pays for the membership must be with you in order to get in. You can't give your card to someone else for them to get in. They check. Nice trails that are well taken care of, but you don't pay per car load like other parks it's by person.

Many miles of hiking trails with varying intensity, from easy to moderately difficult, mostly from elevation... Trails themselves are very well marked and maintained. Couple areas that require crossing a creek using rocks, but most crossings have a built bridge. Saw deer, butterflies, and even a hummingbird!

I've made the west to east side trek over here a few times, and always enjoyed it. We hike the many excellent trails and enjoy that they are uncrowded. This was an overall good experience. I went with friends and being there with them made it awesome.
Thinking objectively about the festival itself, though, I don’t think it was worth the ticket price. It’s marketed as a permanent village, which to me made it seem like there would be good, well-made structures there when in reality, much of it looks like thin pieces of old wood nailed together to make ramshackle buildings. Colors are faded on flags and tapestries. The benches are warped and have green things growing on them. The paths are gravel. Shouldn’t it be packed dirt? There wasn’t gravel back then.
There was a lot less period-accurate things happening than I expected. For one, there were loud speakers and microphones used, which I was disappointed by. Shows talked big but did little—passionate people without the talent to back it up. Songs were present-day and sung badly over and over. One woman used a terrible British accent as entertainment. The energy from some was still good and helped make the shows, but I’d say it’s probably more kid-level than an adult would enjoy, yet some of the jokes made aren’t great for kids so there’s an imbalance there. But kids wouldn’t notice the poor performances as well.
The food and drinks are over-priced but that’s to be expected at such an event. I thought it was weird that you could buy pizza and Whiteclaw at a Renaissance festival; this was my first time going and I expected it to be more period-accurate. I did see turkey legs and a sign for mead, but I think the mead was just beer.
It was hard to book it over to shows we wanted to see, too. A bit of a confusing layout and the times weren’t conducive to being able to see one show and then another right after in time. Like the jousting only lasted like 10-15 minutes, so if you were coming from something else, you miss it before you can even arrive. :/
Kids’ rides were super expensive—$4/ride on a rickety-looking old wooden slide? No! 😆
On the other hand, the kettle corn was really good and only $3 for a small, but it was huge! The best value of the whole place. And some people who attended had really beautiful costumes and makeup. That wasn’t thanks to the actual festival or ticket money spent, but it was cool to see.

The Holiday Yuletide Village was beautiful. The shops were transformed to showcase holiday-themed gifts while keeping the renaissance festival alive. We enjoyed walking amongst the lights and characters in the park. The weather was a bit cool so it was nice to spend some time near the many fire pits they had set up. Absolutely a wonderful experience.

A great way to spend the day with family! $23 for admission but there are tons of shows and activities to keep you busy for the day. Lots of different food options available as well as beer. Parking is $3 so be sure to bring some cash.

We enjoyed the outdoor Holiday festival before it got too cold out, thankfully! The food was delicious. The characters never disappoint. They have hot chocolate and coffee and you can add some yummy adult beverages to add to it.

Such a fun place and lots to do and see. I definitely recommend bringing plenty of cash for food and parking and for the games. Great food and always love watching the joust. Get there early to avoid crowds and traffic!

Always have a blast. The faire runs for all of September and October and they are bringing back the Yuletide in December. Tons of interesting items to look at. Great shows with incredibly talented people. We always have fun. It is crowded and lines for food can be long. Grab something to eat before noon or later in the day.

This was my first year attending and I fell in love! The atmosphere is unlike any other. I'd compare the vibe to one similar of a music festival. People were so dedicated to their character. The performers were amazing on and off stage. Food was delicious!

Was super excited to attend the festival for the first time ever! I got my boyfriend and myself tickets for his birthday and we headed to the festival. It took us an hour to get to the entrance when we were 1.5miles away. The park was over crowded and it was very hard to enjoy the activities. I think I would have loved the festivities if there were about half the amount of people there. The large crowds made it hard to see shows and shop at the vendors. The food lines were really long. When we finally tried to leave at 5:50 it took us over 4 hours to get out of the parking lot. I can’t believe we spent so much time dealing with the parking and so little time inside the cramped faire. Not sure if I will ever return and this experience definitely put a damper on my boyfriends birthday present. I couldn’t help but think of the safety of everyone crammed in there if there had been an emergency. Thank goodness mostly everyone left safely- albeit certainly SLOWLY. Please do better in the next years.

The Renaissance Festival was an awesome experience! The tickets are pricey but the amount of entertainment you get throughout the day makes it worth it. There's all kinds of shows, vendors, and food throughout the park and it really makes you feel like you've time traveled. The park is so big we didn't even see everything in the 4+ hours we were there. I've been inspired to dress up next time!

First times joined this event on September and absolutely love it... I felt like going back to my childhood used the blanket to made the princess customes... I feel I be younger...
I heard before they dressed up renaissance custome but now we can dress up more than that and no one judge us...
There was many games and show to enjoy and laugh and relieve your stress.
You can buy your custome here I saw they are really high quality outfits. Also have many interesting souvenir stores. The most my favorite store was insense store... the staffs there they very friendly and patient with my barry language
Thanks for create this wonderful event ...love you guys and can wait for next season !

We don’t have anything like this in Ireland. I absolutely loved it. Its great fun dressing up and going along. Some of the people there dressed up are really committed and their costumes look like something from Game of Thrones and Lord of the rings. Its unreal. The atmosphere of the whole place is wonderful. Its crazy its like being transformed back in time once you walk through the gates. The shows are really entertaining. The shops have weird and wonderful stuff. The food and drinks are renaissance inspired. Great play areas for kids. Jousting is the main event and is good fun to watch.

Extremely well-organized event. Renaissance Fair had wide open and plentiful parking and easy exit. Clean grounds, can walk through it in an hour, add time if you stop in the shops and lines and shows of course.

Wonderful. Amazing shows, amazing atmosphere, can't say enough good things about it. Their Yuletide Village was also extremely fun! They need to do more advertising for it so more people can experience it.
Young's Jersey Dairy is a farm-based establishment that offers not only delicious ice cream but also other activities for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy mini-golf and batting cages, as well as watch cows being milked and feed goats. The restaurant on-site serves cheeseburgers, cheese curds, and other dishes that are sure to satisfy hunger cravings. While prices may be a bit high, many people rave about the quality of their milkshakes.
An excellent place to get a sweet treat after a long day! The buckeye milkshake is so good and well worth the price. I am also very impressed with the new building. You can now hold events there at a modest price, such as corporate get togethers and birthday parties.
I'm glad Young's is still in business. It's brought back memories of getting ice cream with grandpa after bike rides.

Always a great place to take the kids and do fun activities. Even with it being super busy today, we received our food and ice cream fairly quickly. This year there's a playground in the corn maze which was super fun and the pumpkins at the pumpkin patch are perfect! I always love coming to Young's.

I took my family there with my boyfriend for the first time and we had a blast! My nephew had fun feeding the goats for the first time, exploring and seeing all the animals (goats, cows, pigs), climbing in tractors, and exploring the play area made especially for kids his age filled with tons of age appropriate activities which was free for him and he’s under the age of 2. We also got food and ice cream here and it was all delicious! Both came out in a timely manner. They also have a cute little gift shop section you can shop from. Absolutely loved sharing a Young’s Dairy experience with my family that I grew up loving!

I just don't know how anyone could rank this place lower than five stars. It has been a fantastic establishment for all the years it has been around. We have watched it grow over the years in many different ways that demonstrates their high commitment to high quality food, desserts, fun activities, etc. The service has always been amazing with tons of staff ready to help at any time. That is true again since our last visit before the pandemic. If you're in the Springfield area, you must do yourself a favor and stop in.

Young's Jersey Dairy is a family-owned and operated farm and ice cream shop located in Yellow Springs, Ohio. It has been in business since 1942 and is a popular tourist destination. The farm offers a variety of activities, including:
* A petting zoo
* A miniature golf course
* Batting cages
* A restaurant
* An ice cream shop
The food at Young's Jersey Dairy is made with fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant serves burgers, hot dogs, fries, and other classic American fare. The ice cream shop offers a variety of flavors, including chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and a variety of specialty flavors.
The family-friendly atmosphere and the variety of activities available. The food is also generally well-liked, with the ice cream being the most popular item.
If you're looking for a fun and family-friendly place to visit in Ohio, Young's Jersey Dairy is a great option. Just be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends.
Here are some tips for visiting Young's Jersey Dairy:
* Go during the week if you can to avoid the crowds.
* Be prepared to wait in line, especially for the ice cream.
* Bring cash, as some of the activities and food vendors do not accept credit cards.
* Wear comfortable shoes, as you will be doing a lot of walking.
I hope this helps!

This is a perfect place if you are trying to find something for couple of hours depending on the crowd size. If it is just one family then the options you have is farm, petting/feeding animals, walking around to take pictures, maybe games depending on your interest and end up with a good treat...they have great ice cream collections and wide menu. I loved their fried cheese curds..peaches and cream was my favorite along with white cream with chocolate and Raspberry. I get to try their garlic and dill flavor (yes ice cream), for me it tasted like frozen garlic butter. If you are visiting this with few families then you can spend 4+ hours including all fun games....would recommend this place.

Young's Jersey Dairy is a fun-filled, nostalgic place to be!!! I first came myself in the early 90s & loved it! Later in, I brought my son who loved it just like I did! I reconnected with the love of my life & we returned on a date!!! So, Young's is truly a part of the family! It has changed a lot over the years, but it will always be a special place to us! By the way... the Sweet Potato Bread Sundae... DIVINE!!!!!

We met some of the family at Young's for a treat before they had to head back home out of state. We have eaten here several times but only once before at the new building and tables. There was a really nice shaded area under the porch to eat your treat. Today we got the straw berry short cake with the vanilla ice cream. The whip cream on top is a nice touch. The cake wasn't really pound cake but really just like regular cake. Also the ice cream seemed really sweet more than creamy. The strawberries were nice and fresh and delicious. I probably wouldn't order it again but would stick to the strawberry ice cream. It has always been great.

This is definitely a mid-west experience you don't want to miss, it's massive, large parking lot, petting zoo, long line to order but it moves fast because they know what they are doing. It's great to go for some hikes around Jon Bryan State Park and then get some dinner and ice cream. The ice cream is mandatory don't miss out. Plenty of tables to even on the busiest day I've been you can typically find a seat even for a large group.

Visited here several years ago and thought the restaurant part was quite rundown. Was pleased to see they have redone the restaurant and it is really really nice. Very nice and clean restrooms. Quite a few indoor tables even for groups. Little gift shop inside with various decor and gifts and a plethora of food items - cheese curds, etc. We ate lunch - you order at counter and they give you a beeper to pick up your food from the counter. You can order from your table as well using a QR code. We fed the goats - can buy food outside for a quarter. Went into barn - cows, goats, pig that you could pet. Also pumpkins and gourds to purchase outside. Reasonably priced. Went putt putt golfing with a group - course was well maintained and fun. Ice cream is great and homemade there. Super fun time!

My first time to the new building of Young's Jersey Dairy restaurant. Lots of seating options including a HUGE family table. There is a line for ice cream and a line for food/drink. And the lines go very fast. You place your order and they give you a device to let you know when your order is up at the Grill. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger with no bun (because of GF issues), the cheese curds and hot apple cider. My burger was alright, not hot at all, but edible. The cheese curds came with 3 sauces and those curds are delicious!
There is a cute gift shop that includes breads, pies, jams and candy.

This place is phenomenal!! We came for mini putt (udders and putters, are you kidding me?! Genius!) and stayed for baby goats, baby cows, kittens and delicious food. There's an app to pre-order your food and then you head over and pick it up to skip the line, absolutely a time saver. 10/10 would recommend, the 17th hole of mini putt is about the appropriate timing to order, finish your game, meander over, and then everything is ready. We had zero children with us and had an incredible time as adults, definitely a kid-friendly place, but tons of activities for those of us young at heart as well.

Such an awesome place for family fun! We had lunch and their homemade ice cream and both were amazing! I love all the activities they have to offer. We went to their petting zoo, played miniature golf, and went on their giant slide. It was a great place to spend our Saturday together!

What a fun place! We got there early so there really wasn't a big crowd. They have a great selection of ice cream flavors, fresh cheese curds and some baked goods. There are a lot of activities that are family friendly, from wagon rides, corn maze and feeding goats. Overall a fun place! They also have a driving range as well (I didn't check it out but it definitely seemed to be a popular spot). There is plenty of parking, clean restrooms, and plenty of seating for everyone. It appears that they do have different events happening in the weekend.

Homemade ice cream is without a doubt the best flavor. The sandwiches and onion rings take a little longer to serve, but they are also very tasty and should be eaten. There is a cattle barn just around the corner, which can be visited freely, and is recommended for visitors with children.

We stopped here because of geocaching, so happy we learned of the place. Although very off season timing it was a great visit, always a good time to enjoy animals. Probably the best cheese curds from a restaurant I’ve ever had. Of course had to get some fresh milk and it was so good! Planning our return trip to check out the carousel when it’s put in this summer.

I spent about 20 minutes looking around inside at the cheese for sale that sounded awesome and at the gift shop and outside in the barn. The goats were bahhing. It was cute. Petted a little cow. They have hand cleanser stations for after you pet the animals or let them eat feed from your palm. You can buy a little container of goat feed inside for $1.75 or outside by the goats they have 4 gumball type dispensers with feed ..a small handful for $.25.

Limestone & dolomite gorges offering varied hiking paths, some with wooden walkways & lookouts.
Free parking with 30 spaces? Deep gorge with a swift stream coursing over the rocks. Outlook points peeking over the gorge offer great views. There are placards on overlook decks describing bits of history. Multiple trail choices. Well maintained with sturdy railings and steps. There was even a waterfall with huge icicles! Very nice way to spend an afternoon.

Great place to hike with a lot of interesting geology and history. The trails are well maintained, and relative easy. Parking can be a challenge near Clifton. I find it easier to park at John Bryan State Park and hike through (the trails connect), but ymmv depending on how long and how difficult you want your hike to be. No pets allowed here. There are restrooms at the Nature Center.

Some of the views of the Gorge are just stunning! I'd say if you're not really out for a hike, and just want to see some nice views of nature, just stop at the parking lot by the mill. It's a very short walk from there to the viewing platforms. The trail at the Narrows/Gorge does sort of run along a street, so the hiking isn't great in this area per say, but the views are really gorgeous. The trails get better as you get deeper into the preserve. There aren't restrooms here, but there are at the nature center which you can hike to. Lots of parking here as well, as can be seen in one of my photos.

Wow 🤩 this is a scenic nature preserve. There’s a lot to see here. I brought my niece and nephew ( age 2 and 4) and they were in awe with the trickling waterfall, limestone gorge, butterflies, wild vegetation and small snakes. About halfway through the trail, I mildly regretted not having a child carrier because they got really tired. The toddler fell asleep and we back tracked to the parking lot. I quickly learned how rocky the trail is and the variety of elevations I had missed in the beginning 😂 So here are some things I jotted down for a better visit next time. And I’ll share it with you in case you plan on checking this place out with kids :)
- There are 2 parking lots next to each other.
(The lots are about a mile away from each other) One has a bathroom and the other does not.
- Wear grip shoes or boots. Bring a hiking child carrier. The trail is rocky and muddy.
- No strollers and pet. The trail is narrow.
- Photograph trail map. The markers can easily be missed and there is no data connection.
This place is a gem and fun to explore. If you haven’t been able to nomad through Hocking hills or just want a place with less foot traffic, this is the place. I like it 🙌🏼

This is a beautiful area surrounded by miles of trails. You can see waterfalls and cross the river at low points with bridges. Beautiful scenery and greenery are the focus. Trails are paved which makes it easy for families with small children. Lots of places to rest and overhangs from which to see the beautiful area. Lots of history and landmarks can be seen throughout the miles of trails

A pretty like oasis just outside of Yellow Springs! Scenic, well maintained trails with a variety of landscapes. The John L. Rich trail in particular is a beautiful hike along the river with many overlooks, interesting rock formations, and access to the river. Trail is easy-moderate with stairs and some rocky terrain. Be prepared for weekends in the spring and summer to be more crowded.

Love the diverse ecology. Upper trail looking into the gorge. The lower trail near the water. It butts up against another park so it can be a long or short hike. Plenty of photo ops. Every season brings changes to the hike.

As always, this area is spectacular it’s so peaceful and beautiful. I’ve been able to hike this park during all four seasons and fall is by far my favorite. Clifton Gorge, State, Nature, preserve, and John Bryan State Park do not have any type of entry fee, but Glen Helen nature preserve does because it is private and so far I have hiked every trail on Glen, Helen, and every trail in John Bryan, except for the mountain bike trail, and I have hiked, every trail in Clifton Gorge.
FINALLY—for any climbers 🧗♂️
They have specific Cliff climbing areas and anchor points along certain trails—usually on the upper rim trails. There are specific placards in place to mark the anchor areas(SEE PICS-Las couple)

We love hiking here and seeing the beauty of this area, which is not too far from our home. We have been here in the Summer, Fall, and in the freezing cold of Winter and it’s been beautiful every time! There are easy areas and more difficult trails to hike also. We were able to do both this time as we are in better shape now than when we went last year! It such a nice hike because it was not too crowded as we went on a Friday afternoon, and not a Saturday. It’s close to Yellow Springs, so after hiking it’s nice to go there and grab a bite to eat or a drink! We went to Ole Ye Tavern in downtown Yellow Springs and had their pizza and beer. It was delicious! Enjoy!

As an avid hiker I frequent a lot of parks, nature preserves and trail systems. Over the past 40 years I've hiked thousands of miles. I lead into this review with that to let folks know this particular hike is one of my favorites. Clifton gorge, especially the narrows is one of the most beautiful hikes in Ohio. The trail system hooks into another one of my favorites John Brian SP. All together it is about 7 miles 3.5 hours of hiking to do the whole loop. The trail itself is medium difficulty and there is some dangerous areas, yet if one stays on trail it isn't nothing to be intimidated by. Take your time, take a camera, water and snack. Do the whole loop... you will not be disappointed.

This was a very nice hike. Absolutely beautiful trail. It was longer than I thought it would be. Had to cut it a little short since it was getting dark. I hiked down to the river and then along the river. Coming back along the rim trail. I definitely recommend this trail. Just be warned that you probably won't ha e cell service. Which isn't a bad thing since it means you can actually experience the trail in peace.

The Hollywood Casino Columbus in Ohio is a popular destination for those looking to have a good time. The casino has slot and video poker machines as well as blackjack tables, making it the perfect place to spend some time. WOW! Covid has really done a number on this place... arrived on a Thursday night after a blue jackets game and it was DEAD. Went out to the new smoling patio with my wife and found a bunch of different machines either turned off, in need of repair, or some other error causing the machine to be out of service. I have no clue how a casino could operate at only 50% of their machines even functional. A couple more fun finds you'll see in my pictures, but when you ask an slot attendant about a specific theme why are you acting like you can't be bothered or direct me to someone else since you're busy? I almost didn't play because of this individual since the only version of the game I wanted to play was a high limit exclusive, or so it would seem with as many machines were unplayable. Outside of this high limit slot attendant I only spotted a single server, and only twice during me time this visit, and some combination of 5 other slot techs/attendants, but the cage was fully staffed -.- Hoping their sister property is better when I go for my birthday next month.

Boxing night at the casino was excellent, a lot of good up and coming fighters. First time in this casino and was impressed by how well they have kept the place up with it being open for about 10 years now. Couple of local staple restaurants on display in here but not their best foot forward...still solid. Everything else is what you would expect out of a casino that isn't in Vegas.

Casinos are few and far between, but they do have some cheap buy ins and some great food options (Dirty Frank's, Mike's late night, and wahlburgers coming soon) Everytime I go though there are more and more broken machines and trash left everywhere. The smoking/gaming patio looked like a nice addition, I just wish they took better care of the inside. In their defense though, the type of area and crowd that is usually there is a little rough and not the best guests. Video blackjack and Big 6 were highly entertaining.

My review is not for the games but for customer service in general. Hollywood Casino is a beautiful place with a variety of table games and slots... However my experience here was not outstanding. Since this was my first time coming I wanted to get a player's card. The desk was very busy and probably understaffed, understandably. What was upsetting was that the staff focused 100 percent of their attention on getting through the 'VIP' line while leaving everyone else to wait until there was not a single person in the VIP line to be waited on. Those waiting for player cards were still being serviced, albeit slowly. I watched a man in the front of the 'regular' waiting to use other services for literally 30 minutes, all the while being passed over for service by those walking up in the VIP line, having not even waited a full minute at some points. What would have been a better solution to getting through the lines would have been to maybe take two VIP customers to every one regular. Just a suggestion. There are very possibly big spenders in that regular line who now have a sour taste in their mouth having never even had the chance to become a VIP.
After finally securing my player card I wanted to get to the bar before the gambling began. To my dismay, the main bar had a line like I have only seen at amusement parks (okay, that's a bit over-exaggerated) . I was initially frustrated especially after waiting over half an hour just to get a player's card, but my frustration soon went away when I realized how fast the line was going. When I got to the bar to place my order I saw there was only one bartender working... But he was moving drinks at the pace of at least three good bartenders. Outstanding! I was more than impressed to say the least. Raymond, you are a Rockstar! Hollywood is very lucky to have you on their team.
All in all, a good experience with just a couple of things that could be improved upon and hopefully will once fully staffed. I hope to come back and rack up those player points ;-)

This is my new home driving over the road for stops in Ohio. Not only are they trucker friendly they have a designated parking area with spaces for truckers. No shuttle service. It's a little bit of a walk but definitely worth it. This really made what could've been a bad night into a really great night.
Update: I tried paying for my parking since the kiosk out in the lot was broken. Staff got a big kick out of that. FYI it's called integrity, honesty and honor. You should try it some time. loved this place. minus the smoking sections and the fact I lost my earring there and someone definitely found it and took it instead of bringing to security, but such is life these days.. oh also, more roulette tables with $15 minimum would be nice.

This is the 4th bad review in a row I've given! I'd give zero stars if I could. Went last night 2/3/24 and played the buffalo train game. Ended up losing over 900 bucks! I'm getting ready to sue due to the fact this is the fourth weekend in a row I've got completely wrecked. Here is an example. This pic is half way threw the 51 free games I ended up getting. Notice I'm at 19 bucks at the 22 free game mark. I only ended up with $26 after the 51 free games ended . So out of the last 29 free games I only won 7 bucks!! How do I only win $26 on a 2 cent demon $1.50 bet and 51 free games? Also how do I spend 900 bucks and only win $26 ?? Got another bonus that had 28 free games and payed me 10 bucks. I've been collecting evidence that this Casino is clearly cheating. It felt like I was being robbed! Spent hundreds of dollars to get a bonus and then the bonus is a slap in the face...every single time!! You will be hearing from my attorney and also my attorney has already contacted the Ohio gaming commission! Do not come here!!! Not only will you be robbed , most of their games the spin buttons are broke. Last night there were like 7 or 8 cash redemption machines that didn't work. I gave you guys four weekends of my time but I'm done. This place is a joke. Also I'm hip to the fact you turn the machines down on free play days. See you in court !
Scioto Downs is a horserace track and casino in Columbus, Ohio. It offers gambling on slot machines, table games, and horse racing from May through September. Live musical performances are also offered at the facility throughout the night.
Love playing at this place. They have all the games. Love the horse racing love having the hotel attached to it. Just wish they had another restaurant because the other two have limited menus. Amazed that Ohio casinos have Lottery machines on their property. Quite handy.

Pretty run of the mill as far as casino experience goes. The real winner here was the Brew Brothers restaurant. Huge portions and the best service staff. Unique cocktails and a huge selection of house brews. The Redhead Amber Ale was so tasty and paired extremely well with my "fish and chips". Two huge fried Cod filets and fries.

Awesome facility and casino. They have semi parking off to the left in back. Spent 18 hours here playing the slots and only lost $80 in 8 hours of playing. At one time I was up $300 but kept playing. The machines are calibrated right and not too tight. Workers are super friendly and professional. I also ate lunch and dinner inside and it was excellent at a good price!!! I would definitely recommend coming here! I’ll be back that’s for sure.

I ended up not spending any money here. First off, no one was at any of the locations that I found to get a card or offer customer assistance. Secondly, I found the video a lot machines to be very confusing, so a customer service professional would have been helpful.
The older men working the doors both pointed to where folks should be... maybe I just got lost. At the end of the day - harness racing had ended for the season and that was why we originally stopped, so my gain is my win I suppose.
They do appear to have a rather large section blocked off for 2023 renovations.
Maybe next year I can catch some harness racing.

Very nice small casino. Good selection of recent and classic slot machines but zero video poker. Non-smoking in main area but two outdoor terraces Very friendly staff. Beverage stand available in the back. It is a Caesar's property so you get rewards. Machines, especially in the high limit room seem tight.

First time going there the security was funny and nice, the desk services people were friendly and helped tremendously. They have a smoking section which is a plus for me (yes I know smoking sucks) everything was clean. However the slots were a little tight for my liking I've seen looser slots at bars, maybe it just wasn't my night. I do plan on going back but going to wait until the races start back up.

Came here for a work event. This place was awesome. I loved the horses and even placed a few bets. The casino was super nice and clean.
Played a few slots but didn't win like usual. Had a good time and enjoyed the place. Will make sure to bring the wife next time and let her lose more money. We will have to try the food next time and hope they have some onion rings or pizza.

I'm not a casino person, but my wife enjoys the adventure. The place is undergoing renovations, so it felt more closed off than maybe it generally feels. They do have a smoking patio with games, which my wife enjoyed. The one security guard was polite in answering some questions, and we did not speak or have interactions with other staff. Ended up leaving after a bit.

Only my second time ever at a casino and this one was very nice, plenty of machines and the wait staff were very tentative and frequently offered up their services.

Have to admit, El Dorado was amazing! Even up to the point where I hint my money from myself, and security literally let me know it was on the other side of my wall. After they did a camera review 👀🤣 had a great time

I enjoyed this casino immensely! The staff was friendly, food is decent and atmosphere is serene outside. There is a smoking section, which is great, because I don’t smoke, but they can chill with the coconut air freshener inside it’s loud.
I was able to RV park while I watched the races and gambled. It’s crazy because I was simply passing by on my way to NC.
Jumped off the highway and began with the races…then went inside to the slots. The slots had an even balance.. I came out even from when I arrived and I gambled for 5 days. There was a live band on Friday night outside by the races.
I met people, laughed with staff, talked to strangers, and moved on…It was a fun stop.
My absolute favorite thing was the French fries…weird but true.
Definitely recommend!!

Oddly enough in addition to gambling, I travel to this casino for their cheeseburgers. They have a small cafe inside the casino that serves tacos, pizza, and burgers. Definitely get yourself a burger. It's grilled to order, and they are juicy and delicious! The staff is always friendly, and they're always super busy because their food is so good!

Horrible gaming. Played several machines and had no enjoyment. Just complete donation. One of the worst experiences. Put thousands into the machines, no bonus play, no average return on investment. Ceasars property is a ripoff. Play the MGM you'll enjoy yourself!
Alex Bell — Google review
I used to be a regular here. Embarrassed to say I was getting close to $200 a week in free play. One used to be able to come in, drink a few beers and play the slots for a bit. Maybe $200-$300 bucks. Since Ceasars took over, it's nothing but a dirty money pit. 8 bucks to use the ATM, $11 for 2 beers and the return to player went from 90% to low 70's. They can't get hardly anyone to work there and when they do, the people wisen up and quit. It sits on South High Street and "management" thinks it's the Vegas strip. I, myself, have literally broken up 2 fights and their joke security was nowhere to be found. Do yourself a favor and skip this dump. Hollywood isn't much better but it's definitely better than this hole.
Everyone should come enjoy this small national park! You won't spend an awful lot of time here, so it's even good for kids. The workers at the information desk are friendly and have lots of information and pamphlets to give you. There are many mounds here, and some of them have information signs explaining their significance. There's plenty of parking and clean restrooms here.

Wonderful place to visit to learn about indigenous people of Ohio and their continuing importance/impact. The park rangers are very informative and kind.
Megan Smeznik — Google review
This was my first visit to this National Historic Park area. Excellent presentation of indigenous (native) peoples ingenuity and sophisticated culture before the Europeans arrived. The Mound City group is just one of several sites in the newly designated World Cultural Heritage area. Make sure you see this and the other sites to truly experience the mounds and other earthworks of the Hopewell culture that flourished in the central and southern Ohio landscape.
Mike Stoehr — Google review
This park is really impressive. The mounds are amazing. There is a small visitors center with video and a gift shop.
There are trails outside with different information boards to read. I have very limited mobility and get around on an electric scooter. I could go as far as the sidewalk.
They did have an off road wheel chair that you can borrow to go on the trails. That was really nice to see.
Cat Lady — Google review
A lot of interesting history about an incredible culture. What's left off the signs is that all the mounds are reconstructions. They are well researched and in the correct places, but between farming, an Army camp, and some archeology the original mounds are no longer here.
Nice picnic area with lots of shade. Friendly ranger and volunteer in the visitor center.

The National Park Service manages several Hopewell mound sites in the Chillicothe area. The Hopewell Culture National Historical Park's visitor center is located at Mound City Group and is the only site that has a full facility with a museum, gift store, restrooms and helpful rangers. Despite this site's name "Mound City Group", this site was not a residential area but rather a burial and ceremonial ground. Anyone fascinated with ancient mounds and earthworks needs to visit this site. And if your travel plans include seeing all the earthworks in the Chillicothe area, see this one first to give you a better understanding of what you will be seeing at some of the other sites where the earthworks no longer exist but are only outlined by mowing the grass on the ground where they once stood. The museum and park rangers will also provide valuable information about the people who created and utilized these structures. We arrived around 3pm and were told that we could join a ranger led tour that started shortly after. Ranger Sue was so informative! I learned so much!

Outstanding film. Great rangers. Walk around the site to experience the history it’s amazing.
James Carroll — Google review
I enjoyed it, even though some of the paths did get some minor flooding. Nothing too disruptive. I would say the largest issue was the large, high-voltage power lines running through the ceremonial areas.
Christian Malone — Google review
Free! It's basically a big flat field... i was underwhelmed. There is a nice trail, lots signage explaining what was, but do to farming and land usage, most of it looks like a big grassy field. It is large... the interpretive trail is 2.25 miles and basically goes around the site.
Awesome sights and a really cool cave. I must warn you, for those who don't do much trail walking, the trip back up can be a tough one. Bring your best walking shoes and a camera. I would highly recommend the visit

Rock House is always a great experience. Fun and great for pictures. Today the bottom bridge was closed - that usually makes it a loop. So it was only an out-and-back. I wore shoe spikes and they definitely helped! Bathrooms at the parking lots.

We enjoyed the hike. Glad there was steps made to make the trail easier. Rock house is very nice. You might want to bring a light if you want to see details while walking inside the Rock House.
Anne Klonowski — Google review
While Rock House is a bit more out of the way from the other sights in Hocking Hills State Park, I think it's worth your time. The trail is not very long (plan for half an hour) and consists of a decline into gorge, the Rock House itself, and an incline out of the gorge. Even though it's not called a cave, it really is one and in fact the only true cave in the park since the others are termed recess caves.
Nick Gavio — Google review
I looked on some websites for some of easier trails in the Hocking Hills area, and this one came up. It's supposed to be only a 1/4 mile. Let me warn you that this trail is the opposite of easy. It starts off fine, but then you get to some very steep steps going down. There are very few things to hold on to, and the edge of the cliff is very close to the trail. I had second thoughts getting through this area. The views and sights at the cave are beautiful but it is hard to get there if you are not fit. The walking bridge has collapsed at the bottom, and the detour is a slippery walk over wet logs in the creek. Coming out of the gorge is much better than going down, but it is uphill and thankfully short. The cave is beautiful but beware it is not an easy hike down.
David Snyder — Google review
This was a nice loop trail. There was one spot a little wet and the bridge was not useable but other wise it was a great little hike. Parts of the trail maybe out for dogs but i strongly suggest not taking them if you want go inside the “house”. There are many other places that are much better suited for dogs close by.

Very cool place to see. Really muddy hike down and up....slippery. You need good shoes and maybe a walking stick. Trail is really close to the cliff edge coming down from the cave so maybe not the best hike if you have a fear of heights.
Joyce Gindlesperger — Google review
Wow great trail. Lots of up and down stairs and paths. Inside the cave is amazing. Most people could do this track. I saw people of all ages. The ground is extremely uneven so you have to watch where you're stepping. The whole thing is under a mile.
Shon Lang — Google review
Such a cool place! The trail is super short (it makes up for it in steep hills) so it is a nice quick stop. We went at 9:30am on a Sunday in the summer and there were maybe 4 other families on the trail as well, we have heard this one gets really busy during the day. It is super scenic on the way there with rock formations, and then a steep walk back up (not bad though). It is about a half mile and we went there and back in about a half hour, with exploring the cave a bit.
Madeline Spruill Cononge — Google review
Absolutely love this place, been coming here for years. They recently built a new detour bridge at the base of the cliff instead of the old stone Bridge.
This is not an appropriate hike for younger kids, as there are a lot of areas with drop offs and lots of stone steps, climbing.

Great hike! Only do this if you are in shape because it is alot of work compared to Ash cave or old mans cave 😂
Great for dogs and honestly my favorite cave yet!
Spooky trip: In the 1800s, Rockhouse Hotel was located where the shelter house is now. The spirit of a young woman named Mary who was found dead in her room roams the area.

Excellent place to go explore! Some steep steps but not bad. Gorgeous scenery and loved exploring inside the cave. Watch your steps inside. Depending on the time of day you go, you may need some kind of light to see where to step. Overall a great experience!

Amazing! So beautiful but not the easiest trail so be aware before starting this hike. Some slippery rocks that could send you tumbling. Just watch your step and enjoy the beautiful scenery
Enormous natural cavern with a waterfall surrounded by woodlands with hiking trails.
We put this on our "Might as well, it's only a little bit out of the way" list of places to visit in the way back from our Florida road trip -- and Wow, was I glad we did!
It's a Gorgeous place to go; our family enjoyed it even off-season in March. Beautiful waterfall and stream/river. Huuuge cliff/sorta-cave (doesn't wind and twist and turn and go deep into the earth like you might envision when you think of a cave; it's more of a Gigantic scenic overhang of rock - but Beautiful!).
Plenty of different places and angles to take awesome pictures with your loved ones. Very close to another trail/attraction just up the road, in the same state park.
Check it out - your family will thank you!

We have visited Ash Cave many times over the years and it always is beautiful no matter the time of the year. This is one of our favorite easy hikes in the Hocking Hills area. We like that the bottom path almost all the way back to the waterfall is paved and quite level. This makes it easily accessible for motorized scooters, wheelchairs and strollers. The park currently still has the one-way trail sign up however if you have mobility restrictions you can go out the same way you came back in. Otherwise the trail leads you up the stairs behind the waterfall and down the side of the hill. That complete hike gives you such a variety of scenery! Tip: when you get to the top of the stairs there’s a sign that says it’s a 2 mile hike to Cedar Falls. We have actually taken this hike it’s 4 miles round-trip and well worth it. But if you’re not up for that big of a hike still take a left and walk just a little tiny bit and you’ll be able to see the water before it flows over into the waterfall area.

Beautiful, easy walk to the cave. With a very worth it view. Would highly recommend and will return. If you take the ridge back, it isn't a medium hike. It just has a lot of stairs. The restrooms hlleave a lot to be desired. They are currently upgrading the parking area, so it may be on the docket.
Kris Clark — Google review
This trail is great for kids five and younger. It is a short, shaded, flat concrete paved trail. There was a water fountain at the entrance. The tail loops around half is paved so if you have a wheelchair or stroller you can get to the destination and turn around and go back the way you came. After the falls you have the option to climb stairs and loop back to the entrance on a natural surface trail.
Solana Maschinot — Google review
I loved this hike! It was very easy to get to and if you park at the closest parking lot the entire path there is paved so it is very accessible. If you want a more challenging hike you can reach Ash Cave from Cedar Falls if you go along the way there is an old fire watch tower you can climb for some great views!

Ash Cave is such a beautiful place! It was so amazing being there with ice and snow on everything. We took our daughters and puppies with us and they all had a great time.
Jonathon Wymer — Google review
Such a beautiful hike. I can see why it's one of the top sights in Hocking hills. Very accessible for strollers or those needing an easier walking trail. There's a paved path to the waterfall then the option to take that path back if you cannot take the more advanced path back (steep stairs and a trek in the woods).
I had a double stroller and one in our party has a cane and we thought it was a very nice time

Absolutely incredible place! Must visit if you’re in the area. Nice partially paved trails too the first half of the hike is almost handicapped accessible. Very easy hike. Just wish people would keep their reactive dogs and cigarettes at home… otherwise amazing natural wonder.

Ash Cave was my absolute favorite place that we visited during our time in Hocking Hills. One of the things that sets it apart from the other caves is its sheer size. It's absolutely massive and looks so cool with how it wraps around. And, just like some of the other caves, it has a small seasonal waterfall which just makes it that much more picture perfect. This is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. If you're in Hocking Hills, you should definitely stop here.
Nick Gavio — Google review
Ash Cave was really cool. Arriving to Ash Cave, there are parking on both sides of the road but the one across the street has plenty of parking. Trails are easily accessible by all ages. Going into the cave the trails are almost paved but leaving the cave, you have to climb a little. But once in, the views and waterfall was amazing! The photos does do justice.

Ash Cave in Hocking Hills is a beautiful site! Open cave with a tall but low volume waterfall. Wheelchair accessible to a certain point along the gorge trail, less than a mile. Upper trail requires stairs. Parking is now across the road; large lot with wheelchair accessible bathrooms. Another busy point of interest in the area, may be crowded during warmer months.

Ric Ravier — Google review
The is one of the easiest hikes in Hocking Hills, but it is very beautiful and memorable. Quite a bit of the trail is handicap accessible. The cave is huge and beautiful, especially if there's been enough rain for the little waterfall to be active. There is a lot of history here too, from native American camps to pioneers giving sermons and manufacturing gunpowder. The Buckeye Trail, Grandma Gatewood Trail, North Country Trail, and American Discovery Trail all overlap and pass through here as well.

Beautiful walk (not a hike) that is 1.2 miles round trip. Definitely worth the wait and effort.
The acoustics near and around the cave are really interesting. Overall, a majestic feeling and experience. Kid- and dog-friendly, but keep them tethered.

A gorgeous nature outing that most individuals are capable of experiencing due to the relatively flat (in and also out) entrance. Was able to visit on a sunny, 60 degree or so day weekday around 4 pm—this was optimal time & weather for us since there was less of a crowd (still ample parking when arrived) and the air temperature was refreshing. I will say, the views & scenery are breathtaking! The dirt path to the cave has a small incline and some benches scattered throughout. Once you get to the cave you can either walk back out the same way, or go up a steep set of wooden steps (see picture). We opted to exit via the steps and go right towards the exit, which has a steady decline. You can go left after the stairs and hike a trail that continues. I would think you can bring your dog(s) for the hike—I didn’t notice signs saying you couldn’t. It’s a scenic site to visit, but I’d recommend going during an off peak time. I really enjoyed not being surround by a bunch of other visitors—it made the experience that much more great. Also, there are restrooms towards the beginning of the entrance.
Natalie D’Mello — Google review
Ash Cave is much smaller than Old Mans cave, but more majestical (and easier to access). The cave is a short 3 - 5 minute walk from the parking area and flat with little grade. When you arrive at the cave from the lower entrance it is an amazing site. You can hear voices echo from within and around. If you wonder within the cave you will see a simple water fall pending the stream above is flowing. Take some time and enjoy the massive size and views from within the cave. Feel the temperature of the walls, and sand at your feet. Relax and look out over the forest in front of you, find the birds and chipmunks as the gather their meals. If you feel up for the challenge, high up to the top and take the slow trail back to the parking lot.

Ash cave is beautiful! Me and my fiancé had a wonderful weekend and stayed in the cabins of hocking hills and of course we had to come see what beautiful ash cave has to offer! This is definitely worth coming to see and is a main attraction in the area. There is something so breathtaking about these magnificently tall cave walls that surround you as you walk the trail. I absolutely enjoyed it and can’t wait to bring the whole family to come see it next time.
I visited Cedar Falls and Whispering Falls after heavy rains the last day and a half. I started at Cedar Falls and took the Gorge Trail for about a mile and a half and came back to Cedar Falls. Aside from some mud, the trail wasn't too bad. I've always visited Hocking Hills State Park on non rainy days. It's beautiful anytime but seeing the falls and the swiftness of the creek with a much higher volume of water just added to the beauty of this incredible state park.

Awesome place to walk, hike, and relax. Peaceful and surprisingly clean. Not too busy compared to Old Man’s Cave which you can get to from here but its over 3 miles hike.

Water fall is awesome. Cool and clear water.

Visited on a Friday about 1030a. The parking lot was only about half full, it was getting busy but not yet crowded. The falls are only roughly a half mile from the parking lot. There's stairs and narrow rocky path to walk through to the falls so be careful if you're not too steady. Right before the main parking lot there's a drive off with like 8 spots and that's actually at the top of the falls and you can go down around some wood stairs to it as well to avoid the rocky path part.

Beautiful little hike, best after a hard summer rain, when it's not too cold to get your feet wet - spring is also beautiful, just a bit more chilly. The "Hidden Falls" are also beautiful during or after a good rain, small curtain back to the right off the trail, have included 2 pictures of Cedar falls - one with more water is during spring right after a good rainfall, other is in august when it's been dry for a while,

Gotta appreciate the beauty of the Hocking Hills. Cedar falls is usually the biggest and baddest waterfall in the area. Unfortunately on the October day I stopped, it was barely flowing at all due to lack of rain obviously. Not a bad trek to get to. About a 15 minute round trip from parking lot to falls area.

This trail started off ok. It started off with steps downhill, and there are a lot of small rocks all over the steps. Be careful if you have stability concerns. The first water area had a dry up waterfall... no waterfall. There are a lot of rocks by and in the water. The trail goes by some beautiful huge rocks, boulders on both sides then eventually another waterfall. This one is pretty, shaped like a flower. This is where most people hung out with their kids and dogs. Then the trail continues and it got real narrow between huge boulders, my favorite part of the trail. Eventually, there are steps back up to the parking area. Once exited the trail, you will be at the beginning of the parking area. If you parked by the restrooms at the end of the parking area before circling around to the upper parking area, you will need to turn right for a short walk back to your car.

This is a well maintained trail with reasonably easy access to the falls. I only say reasonably because the first hill down to the bottom has a few stairs with odd spacing thar could be difficult for some people. The falls are very accessible when you arrive with the opportunity for some very nice pictures. Best advice would be to see the falls after it has rained as it seems to run a bit more then. There are restrooms available at the beginning of the trail with parking close by.

I recently visited the Cedar Falls in Logan, OH and it was a sight to see. The Cedar Falls trail is the smallest of the other trails located within Hocking Hills state park and perhaps the most impactful because of the interactive water fall that awaits its guests. There is a small lake to where the falls unite both the water element and human. You may get your feet wet or your entire body. Truly a magical place. Our four-legged friends are welcome. Parking is kind of tight. Nice wooden bridge like stairs called the Democracy Steps that leads to the exit. Great scenery!

It is a great easy trail to have a slow, leisurely hike enjoying nature. There are plenty of rock formations to see throughout the gorge and the occasional wildlife. This is one of the easier hikes in the park for those who have some difficulty in getting around or just want a leisurely stroll.

Cedar falls is a very short trail to see the beautiful rock walls and water fountain! This is definitely a beautiful site to see and a main attraction of Logan ohio. Cedar falls, ash cave, and old man’s cave bring tourists from all over to see the beautiful sights of Mother Nature at its finest. We had so much fun and definitely can’t wait to come back again.

Cedar Falls is the largest waterfall in the Hocking Hills and well worth a visit. The path that leads from the parking lot to the falls is fairly short. You should plan for about half an hour there if that's all you plan to do. However, the path does connect to the others in the park, such as Ash Cave and Old Man's Cave. Those would be a much longer hike, and do have their own respective parking lots if you're not interested in hiking those distances.

My husband and I enjoyed the Valentines dinner train. All the staff was very friendly, the food was delicious and the experience was fun! The salad had great flavor with the dressing, goat cheese and beets. The prime rib was juicy and full of flavor! It was a fun trip. We visited the railway to do a BBQ & Brew dinner on the train in late January. It was a very unique experience!
If you’re planning on doing an evening train ride in the winter, you’re not going to see anything scenic. The dinner was fantastic though. We ate a very good three course BBQ dinner that came out very quickly and washed it down with some provided domestic beer. Service was awesome, if you’re planning a dinner ride, remember to bring cash to tip!
After dinner it was a little long until we got back to the station and we were a bit cold. The winter ride wasn’t for me!

I went on the Santa train December 9, 2023. I agree with some that it wasn't very "scenic" but part of that is due to the trees being bare this time of year. Even if the trees were covered, however, it wouldn't be scenic in my view.
The train goes straight for one hour then goes "backwards" to return to the station.
The parking lot, such as it is, is gravel which could be difficult for wheelchairs or walkers.
In the car I sat in, there was very little leg room. I am 5 feet 6 inches. My sister is 5 feet 4 inches. We could not sit directly across from each other because our knees hit. The benches were not very wide either so two larger adults would not be able to sit on the same bench comfortably. The benches also had large tears in the vinyl.
As many said, the PA system is not loud. When the conductor was giving the safety instructions, the instructions could not be heard.
The majority of the cars do not have bathrooms which for a two hour ride with small children (remember this was the Santa experience) was less than ideal.
The Santa and Grinch were nice, but in order to see everyone, they moved pretty quickly. I heard the conductor on the radio say there were 410 passengers.

The ride was great! I went on the steam train. I sat in the air condition car at first, but it was not very cool. When we got out, I moved to the open car. This was wonderful! Was able to stand or sit & stayed cool while moving. Highly recommend it. The staff was nice!

This is a fun family activity, can also be a date night with the dinner train they offer. Staff and volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. They offer so many different experiences that you must call to find out. I will be returning for my 3rd time in near future. My last trip I actually got to meet the conductor of the train.

Calm and relaxed train ride that was a little under 2 hours. We got a break just before the end of the ride to stretch our legs. My very nature loving baby enjoying looking out the window and it wasn't too hot once we started moving.

Good place to take a train ride. We enjoyed a 2-ish hour fall foliage trip. Prices are affordable. They have different types of train rides and holiday rides. Only complaint was they DEFINITELY need to fix or upgrade their PA system. We couldn’t hear much of anything and it was far less enjoyable not knowing what was going on.

Was not scenic at all. We seen more from the car ride in to the place. Train was cool and the ppl working was awesome. Very good at what they do. Was not worth the money at all.

My husband and I did the dinner train on 9/23 to celebrate my birthday. The food was amazing! They did an incredible job with little room. The staff were all very nice and attentive.
As others have said if you approach this expecting fancy dining cars and breathtaking views, you'll be disappointed. These are old, original trains that run through old parts of Ohio... there's not much to look at. The food, the company of my husband and the sweet couple beside us, and the fact that you can't find train rides this close to home, all made up for it and made it worth the money.
Michele Cochran — Google review
My recent experience on the Hocking Hill Scenic Train was interesting. We opted for the fall foliage train, and the parking and onboarding process were a breeze. However, the overall experience didn't quite live up to our high expectations.
Our tour conductor, aka guide, was friendly, and the people on board were nice. The train journey goes from point A to point B, which takes about an hour, and then returns from point B to A in another hour. It's mainly a "sit and watch outside" kind of experience. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, but there was enough room for everyone.
While it's a pleasant way to enjoy the scenery, we were hoping for a bit more to do or see during the ride. If you're looking for a relaxed, scenic trip, this could be your thing. However, if you're seeking a more immersive experience, you might want to consider other options.
Jisu D — Google review
A nice affordable long train ride. I've been on many tourist railroads, the issues I saw here was track is very rocky, train is jerky with braking and there's no reserved seating or particular ticket for open air or inside so everyone runs to the best seats and people get upset so just wish there was a little more organization.
Daniel McNutt (K8DWM) — Google review
I would suggest you sit on the left side of the train as it leaves Logan. The views are less likely to be obstructed by trees and undergrowth. That said, the right side of the train gives the best views of Johnny Appleseed Park, the remnants of Lock 19 from the Hocking Canal, and the town of Haydenville.
David Clifton — Google review
We had a lot of fun! There was a lot of information given. I would not say that it was "scenic" as the train mostly seems to go through towns and fields but it could be considered historic with the information given during the trip. They stop at Robbins Crossing as well which is a historic area. Would not recommend for someone with sensory issues as it was a very loud ride the entire time, but it was good for kids.
I love the seats in the theater. Getting snacks was quick and easy. The only thing was not having the lights turned off during previews. It was hard to see them. I did enjoy my experience though.

We have done business with a few businesses within the square. It's a real shame there is no public restrooms. We went and watched a late movie to kill time before fireworks. When we got out and went to use the elevator it would not run. So here we are with our daughter in a wheelchair with no way down. 😡 We waited for someone from maintenance for about 30 minutes. No one ever showed. Luckily we found the service elevator. It was horribly stinky and on the other side from the accessible parking spots where we were parked. So we had to push our daughter up the garage ramp. So we missed the fireworks. Such a disappointment. Definitely will reconsider before going back.

We really enjoyed ourselves. We started our night out by playing old to newer video games. A lot of fun and most of them are free 😁. Then we went to eat dinner at a Japanese/ hibachis and Thai food. Then to finish her night up we watch the 9:50 movie 🍿🎥. The machine!! It was great fun I'd recommend it to anybody. There's plenty to do in Pullman and Starbucks and dog cookies 🍪 are right there at the in square.

I love going to Pullman Square. Whether I want to go see a movie, get some ice cream, go to the restaurant called roosters, or just simply go to the GameStop that's down the road just a little bit in that shopping center. There's all kinds of things to do in Pullman Square. They also have live concerts there during the summer. They do all kinds of events down there like the Hot Dog Festival, the Chili Festival. I really never surprised me when I go down there anymore that there's always something going on but like I said there's so much to do and it's really a lot of fun when I go down there all the time.

Came here a few years ago and back again today! I think this is a neat small town gem. 4 bucks a person to get in to the museum which isn't anything super spectacular. Merchandise seems to have gone up some in price. The statue is really cool but not as big as you might think. Don't miss out on the river walk while you're there it's beautiful on a nice day and the area of the first sighting! The other shops are nice as well. A lot of history in this small town.

I visited today when I was driving through town. There was plenty of parking out front. Interested I was greeted by the friendly staff. I didn't go into the museum because I was short on time. The gift shop has a lot of cool items, just about everything you could imagine from T-shirts to buttons. They had interviews playing over the speakers. It was interesting to listen to. I definitely recommend visiting. It's so completely different from anything else I've experienced.

This is so amazing. I played the video game FO76, where the Mothman is a big thing, and never realized the Mothman museum was real. I'm so happy we stopped, the museum is short and small with a lot of authentic historical collections. Was only $4.50 to explore the museum too! Very fun. The gift shop was definitely the best part! They had reasonably priced stuff and there was something for everyone.

Really interesting, fun and informative museum and gift shop. The story of the Mothman is curated very well with firsthand accounts from witnesses, published articles, and memorabilia.

Very friendly owners and staff. Highly recommended for all ages.

My Dad, who grew up in WV, always said we should check this out one day and we did. It is definitely a tourist stop more than anything, but the museum itself has a ton of historical information as well. It is worth the money to walk through it. Point Pleasant is a pretty cute town that sits right on the Ohio River. There is also a nice park a block away where you can walk down by the river.

This museum is one of the most unique museums I’ve been to! For a really inexpensive admission price, you get to learn more about the history of this Ohio River town and it’s connection to Mothman and strange occurrences that have happened in town. There are also set pieces from the movie The Mothman Prophecies. Make sure to check out all the cool souvenirs at the front of the museum! Nearby stores offer some cool gifts too.

I remember watching a documentary of the Mothman some time ago and was very happy to find out that this place was near were we where staying this past weekend.
Yes it is small and the admission was only $4.50 so from what I remembered from that documentary this stop was well worth it.
Clean and with plenty of newspaper clippings posted to read up on actual sightings of this creature.
There us also the Silver Bridge issue that I remember reading about.
Those two things are well worth the stop in town but the beauty of this place is just beyond the seawall.

Visited early during the day when the festival was finishing setting up in 2022. Mothman is one of my top fav cryptids and finally getting to visit the museum, statue and site of where the Silver Bridge once stood was the highlight of my 2022. Incredible memorabilia and history in the museum, very friendly staff and a great gift shop. Definitely one of a kind place and experience. Take your time going through the museum because there are tons of things to see. Definitely plan to come back here in the near future!

To be perfectly honest I don't believe in the Mothman... But I do know as a West Virginia native...That the collapsing of the silver bridge in that time affected many people's lives... They even went on to make a movie about it called The Mothman Prophecies starring Richard Gere... Which is set in this little town Pt.Pleasant West Virginia... As well as this unique one-of-a-kind Mothman museum... It is very interesting in this place.. lots of old news articles of the time the silver bridge collapsed and the Mothman conspiracy... As well as movie props from The Mothman Prophecies movie... There is also souvenirs that you can buy... If you're ever visiting West Virginia you might want to check out this unique and very interesting place.

This would be a great experience if you get the chance to come to West Virginia. Our friends invited us for Thanksgiving, so we came up from Florida and wanted to find something interesting in the area. Well low and behold, we found the statue and the museum. We had watched a program on Mothman. This is fantastic 👏, it was so great that even their teenage kids wanted to see Mothman 👀. Fantastic time for family and friends 😀 ❤️. Great staff also.

This is the Mecca of everything Mothman. The official Mothman Museum in located in Point Pleasant WV. It has everything about the Silver Bridge collapse, the police reports, the audio tapes & props used in the “mothman Prophecies” movie. Once you’ve made your way through the museum you can enjoy the gift shop. I did pick up a few things to commentate my visit here. Parking wasn’t an issue, lots of street parking available. I recommend visiting the Mothman Museum when the Mothman festival isn’t going on. During the festival the line wraps all the way around the building. So, if you love the Mothman, this place is for you!

Super, super cool spot. Was way more intense and in-depth than I anticipated. If you're able, take the tour that also incorporates museum entrance. Ours was given by the owner of the museum and last almost 2 hours, was really in-depth and informative, and gave me an entirely different perspective on both the myth and the city itself. Such a cool experience.

This was an awesome place to visit, totally worth the price of admission. Even if you have no interest in the mothman this is worth going out of your way for, it appeals not only to cryptozoology but history. It has various artifacts from the history of the mothman and movie props and books. The amount of information, articles and artifacts that are presented are hard to cover in a quick trip, but they cover the men in black and other things, I'd recommend going even if you're just gonna go for the gift shop. The gift shop is really good, they have just about anything you or a mothman fan are looking for. The next time I head in the direction of Point Pleasant, it will be a stop I am going to make again.

West Virginia State Museum is a recently renovated institution that showcases the history and culture of West Virginia through art and exhibitions. It provides an engaging and well-thought-out experience for visitors, especially students who can take advantage of the Student's Discovery Guide to enhance their learning. The Museum Education Specialist, Nathan, is excellent in his role and demonstrates his passion for sharing knowledge with others. Additionally, all employees are friendly and helpful.
I had the blessing of accompanying my sons on a field trip here. Such a great museum--very engaging and well thought out. This is an absolute must-see in the capitol
This is located in Charleston, West Virginia. It is in the lower level of the Museum building across the sidewalk from the State capitol on the West Virginia State Capitol Complex. Parking for this can be found either on a nearby street or in the metered parking to the northeast that is part of the complex. The museum is a marble building with a large open entryway/atrium that is beautiful. There are escalators to either side of the information desk in the center. The left-hand one will take you downstairs. The museum takes up most of the bottom floor. You can walk through the wonderfully descriptive parts of the museum that takes you through the various parts of the state history. It starts with the prehistoric era to describe how the area came to be and the other portions describe various historical eras and then focus on the most recent centuries. I really liked the coal mine recreation. As you leave, the other escalator takes you back up to the main floor. Please be sure to check out the gift shop on the way out. This site is a must-see for anyone in the area.

Sadly, the museum was closed. It was not posted anywhere on line. But they are closed Sundays and Mondays. I was redirected to the State Capitol building, which is beautiful and quite different from other State Capitol buildings. Outside the Capitol is a well designed and interesting Veterans Memorial. Everywhere you turn in West Virginia you see Mountains.

Informative state museum. I stopped on a recent road trip, wanting to learn more about the state. I wasn't disappointed. I would definitely recommend spending an entire day if you want to go thru the museum and read/visit all the exhibits, as well as checking out the capitol next door. I only dedicated a few hours and had other plans later in the day, so I felt rushed.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could!! Stopped to visit the capital building first and it was impressive as well. But I really enjoyed the setup of the state museum. They start you back from way in the very beginning of time and work you all the way to the present day. The detail and thought that went i to this is impressive. Unfortunately my time was limited as I had a full day planned. This place is easily 4 hours or more to really take time to read the stuff. Trust me, come here, you'll be impressed. And it's FREE!!
Brian Dible — Google review
While some of the history paints a rosier picture than natives or slaves would, the museum is thorough and extensive. We thought giving ourselves 2 hours was enough time, but we were wrong! Tons of interesting people, artifacts, and history in captivating displays. I learned a ton and would definitely go back to see what I missed when we had to rush out because it was closing time. (Also had an amazing quilt display at the entrance - wow!)

This was a great museum. We have been traveling around to visit all of the state museums and this was one of my favorites.
The displays are really interesting and well done. There is an elevator and large open rooms for those that need accessible areas. I was easily able to navigate it with my electric scooter.
On the first floor there is a one room family/handicap bathroom which was super easy to get in and out of. I wish they had one on each floor. The remaining floor had standard bathrooms with stalls.
There is also a cafe with prepackaged sandwiches and snacks. They also have coffee and coffee drinks. I enjoyed my ham sandwich and these unique potato chips with Indian spices.
Parking was straightforward and easily accessible. I would certainly revisit again.

The highlight of our visit to the Capitol. So much well curated and laid out exhibits, made for a complete and immersive experience - from coal mining, to labor, to music, and much more.
The gift shop is well stocked with quality and many locally sourced items. The museum’s annual quilt show before Labor Day is one of many highlights during the year.
Arguably the most informative stop of the Capitol city. Well worth it.

Small, but attractive building that is worthwhile seeing. Tours are brief and must be scheduled a day in advance, so be mindful of that if you plan a visit and want to be escorted. Beautiful building and grounds. Came an hour before closing time on a weeknight, and hardly anybody was present. Got to explore and learn pretty much by ourselves.

Parking and then finding a way into the capitol was not fun. Many entrances were closed to construction or security when we visited. Finally inside, we join a tour group already started. I've seen many incredible capitols (Mississippi for example) and WV just rubbed me the wrong way. It's the 5th(?) capitol built in WV and very, very "high-end" with imported crystal chandeliers from the Czech republic and millions of dollars worth of marble. For all that it feels like an empty grand ballroom, more functional than lovely. A very expensive monument for a part-time legislature.

The Capitol complex and the surrounding monuments are spectacular. However, if you travel to the Capitol via the West Virginia turnpike, be prepared for West Virginia’s legalized highway robbery. There are two separate toll stops within 40 miles of each other that rip you off at $4.25 a pop ($8.50 total). With the cost of gas being what it is, this is outrageous and enough of a deterrent for me to forgo stopping anywhere else in West Virginia, and hence preventing any of the Charlatans that occupy that gold-plated Capitol getting another dime out of my pocket. I am usually not this fired up by highway construction or delays, but this was nothing but a ripoff. Attached are a few pics taken at the WV Capitol that you won’t see on their website.

We were in off season, so glad we were able to get a spot with our camper. We were staying for work. We didn’t use any of the facilities nor did any of the adventures unfortunately. Time did allow us to explore the grounds, however as for the campground it was amazing. Our site was RV 2 it was pretty level with a picnic table , fire pit and grill. Very nice. Very quiet and peaceful. Loved having an outside trash can. Check in was easy and staff were very nice. We definitely plan to come back when we have some time to explore. Thank you Adventures on the Gorge for getting us in and letting us stay. We will recommend to everyone we talk to.

A shout out to Eric and Andy for making our day great. Love that we could use the pool while we waited for the video. The only thing that would have made a great day even better would be that the video would be more affordable. Highly recommend and we will be back in 5 years to do the big rapids with our kids.

I've stayed with adventures on the gorge for over 12 years now. I come the first weekend in September for rafting every year. They have a fantastic sprawling facility with much to do on site and also offer some all inclusive packages regarding rafting weekends as well as zip-lining and a bunch of other fun activities. Each year I visit they have something new or have upgraded part of their facilities so it seems as though they reinvest the money they make each year to make the facilities better and better. If you've never been. I highly recommend visiting especially early fall.

Been to many whitewater rafting trip, this is one of the best . The class is between 2 -4. But the sight seeing on the way down is so great. And our guide Ryan doing a great job to take us along the trip. The facility has a great set up .Offering many activities and accommodations. Will try to stay at the site next time.

Had a great time with my party of 6 over a 4 day trip. Went skiing and this was a great place to come back to. House was stocked well and the hot tub was fantastic.
Downsides however were difficult to look past. The place was very dirty with obvious mold. We took out dishwasher filter out and it was so moldy we had to call and have it replaced. They took care of it quickly, but were definitely a little worried about getting sick. The beds were comfy and the cabin was well featured and decorated. Service was great and the gift shop was the best part!

Our original rafting guides transferred our reservation over to Adventures on the Gorge the morning of... and it turned out to be the best thing. Link was awesome. Scott was in the other boat, but he was also great the entire time. Very knowledgeable about the park and rafting in general. Next time we find ourselves at New River Gorge (and we'll definitely be back!), we'll be staying at Adventures on the Gorge to take full advantage of all the stuff they have.

This was such an amazing and thrilling experience. Our raft guide Kelly was amazing and an absolute joy. The staff across the whole resort was very accommodating and made themselves very approachable for everything. My only gripe with our stay was that our cabin was not what we were led to believe it was going to be due to a confusing website issue and everything else had been completely booked out, but we made it work and still had a great time. There was live music at night that was very geared toward my style which made it so much better along with the great bartenders that knew how to make a great drink and the food was all amazing. I would highly recommend this as a family trip for 12 and older kids, but there's also things for the younger ones to enjoy too. All in all, 10 out of 10 I absolutely recommend this resort for a great time.

Went on a rafting trip and it was such a good time! My guide Patrick made it exciting by hitting every rapid while still ensuring safety. We all stayed in the raft (unless we voluntarily jumped out in safe areas). Only complaint is that the trip was over too quickly. Would come back!

Great spot for a family vacation! Our family is spread out from NY to WV to TN. Staff was great, guides were lots of fun and the location was central to all of us. A beautiful area with the new national park and amenities at the gorge. We will be back! Enough activities and facilities for grandkid toddlers and seniors active enough to do the canopy tour and the ropes courses. The Iron Curtain cabin/house was perfect for a extended family gathering. Making the reservation was as easy as a phone call to excellent and friendly admin staff and a credit card. So happy this resort came up in a search of the area!

Beautiful venue to explore and visit! And a beautiful venue that I’ve been lucky enough to work at for weddings! I’ve been a wedding and portrait photographer for the last decade… I’ve always had a great experience with the staff and team here! Very great! Brittany Bailey Photography loves and ♥️ I also love it too! My husband and I like to visit in the summer and eat! Always a good time 😄

This is a review only for the lodging because we came during the off season. First off, fantastic and just what we needed in order to explore the national park and have a great place to rest at night. We came to celebrate during New Years because we like nature more than people haha. We stayed in one of the Sportsman cabins. This was perfect for a couple that wants to have a toasty and clean cabin to enjoy evenings between hiking and adventures. Due to the nature of a sportsman resort these cabins are decently close to one another, yet you still have privacy inside your cabins.

Adventures on the Gorge is absolutely fantastic. Everything from the lodging to the various activities is first class. The front desk staff are always very friendly and helpful. We did the double Upper Gauley with Sam as our guide, and the entire trip was amazing. Sam was incredible!! We have previously had Ark as our guide and loved him as well. We did the smaller raft with only 4 people, and it was even more exciting than the bigger rafts which we’ve done in the past here (and that was great also). We love the fact that Adventures on the Gorge has dining options right on the property along with a bar and live music some nights. It’s everything you need for a memorable vacation all in one place surrounded by a beautiful national park with stunning view. I always recommend it to friends as a perfect getaway for couples, families or on your own looking for adventure.

My husband and I did both a 3 hr hiking tour and the lower rafting tour. Brena was an amazing hiking guide and knew all the right places that only locals know. Scott was the best rafting guide you could ask for. Julian is definitely the best videographer as well. Highly recommend spending some of your WV vacation here for the best hiking and rafting.

Had a good time! Customer service was very accommodating. We originally were supposed to use RV and ended up tent camping. They changed reservations day we were to be there. Camp site was quiet and beautiful! Trash cans available at every camp site. Swimming pool was beautiful! Had supper at Smokey's and it was very good. Watched sunset on the gorge! Beautiful!

Adventure in the gorge is top notch. The resort is beautiful and the experiences are second to none. The deluxe over night on the Gauley is the best damn trip available! Great guides! Shout out to Bird and Ray Ray for showing us the best time.

We had an amazing trip down the lower New River. Everett was our guide. He had a lot of knowledge regarding the New River and other interesting facts. He was fun, chill, and very accommodating. We will definitely be back. Fitch, the leader guide, was super fun as well! Loved them both!!!

First time experience with whitewater rafting. I must say, this place was absolutely INCREDIBLE! The resort is so well ran I can't say enough how impressed I was. Our river guide, Brian, was great! He made my 15 year old son comfortable and kept us all safe. All the guides were great, but Brian and Ray went above and beyond. I will be back at least once next year. 10/10 would recommend.

Customer service was awful. Our guide was not loud at all, but expected everyone to hear his rules at the other side of the boat. When we did not hear his instructions he practically insulted my group. He took all of the enjoyment out of what was an extra cost to an already expensive trip. Also, if you are willing to spend the day white water rafting as a career, there is no reason you can not get wet or let us or other boats have fun splashing each other. I’ve gone to other white water rafting centers like the one in Concord, NC, spent much less, and had a way better experience.

Sooooo excellent !!! We stayed (lodged), ate (dined, and did activities (white water rafting and taste of bridge day festival). EVERYTHING was amazing! Cabin was warm and comfortable. We had a dog-friendly unit. It was extremely clean. The rafting guides were excellent!!! AND . . . when I realized I had left my Apple AirPod headphones 🎧 in our cabin, they mailed them back to me for free! Will definitely stay every time we’re in the area !! Oh !!! . . . and the Shuttle Driver was amazing too !!

first off, starting with walking in it looked pretty nice, until looking a little deeper. noticed that half of the dishes and pans they have for cooking wasn’t cleaned properly. a lot of them still had residue that could’ve been easily cleaned off. second thing is we payed over $300 to enjoy our stay and have a great time. we didn’t spend $300+ for the co-owner Brian Campbell to show up and tell all of us to go inside and get out of the hot tub because we were being a little loud 20 minutes after quiet time. mind you we purchased this place and then he goes to tell us we can’t party there and to clean it all up. so the next morning we pick up our stuff and cleaned the place back to what it was when we showed up (expect the towels and dishes). well a few hours go by and we are notified that we are being charged extra for “trashing the place”. we got photo evidence of what we apparently “trashed” and it was basic cleaning procedures. overall i would not book with them if you are looking to have a good time with friends and family. definitely not the cleanest for the pricing and most definitely won’t be returning again.

This was our first visit to Adventures on the Gorge and will not be our last. We stayed for one night and scheduled a white water rafting trip. The location was so beautiful.
Justin (Motorboat) was an excellent guide down the river. We appreciated his direct commands. He directed us safely through the river without anyone unnecessarily going overboard despite us all being beginners.
My family had a blast!

This place was amazing! Rocky took us kayaking out on new river down by Hawks nest Lake and we had a blast! We spent 3 hours paddling around and venturing up stream into the small rapids to test our skills. Rocky was a lot of fun and great to talk with while we enjoyed our time on the water. He did a great job keeping an eye in us but letting us do whatever we were comfortable with. This was my first time kayaking and we didn't camp at this location but we'll be back!
Iconic steel arch bridge, one of the longest & highest in the world, spanning the New River Gorge.
Stopped at the gorge for a short visit and wasn’t disappointed! Fantastic views and the bridge is spectacular. Great picnic spot too. We only had an hour this time but we will definitely return to do some hiking.
Philip Toy — Google review
This bridge is incredible. The architectural design, the man power of the steel workers, and the awe inspiring views from every angle all make this a must see. Every year it is host to an exhilarating bridge bungee jumping experience that we hope to be able to participate in the near future. The surrounding area and national park is breathtaking and filled with rock climbers from near & far to climb the many rock faces available. Even the local rest area for the park is a must visit that is educational and truly rather impressive. Loads of fun at every turn.

The New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia is a marvel that makes the long drive absolutely worthwhile. The view of this iconic steel arch bridge, one of the longest and highest globally, is simply breathtaking as it spans the river gorge. Planning a visit to this park is highly recommended for anyone seeking awe-inspiring sights and a sense of grandeur. The bridge's sheer scale against the backdrop of the gorge is a sight to behold. The park allows visitors to tailor their experience based on personal interests, making it an ideal destination for both engineering enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
Vinutha Goutham — Google review
The New River Gorge Bridge is a beautiful, extremely impressive steel arch bridge that’s honestly a feat of human engineering! The arch is over 1,700 feet long and it was the world’s longest single-span arch bridge for over 25 years! It still is the world’s longest outside of China! That means when you see this thing, it is HUGE. Well worth the stop if you happen to be driving anywhere near this area - in fact, such an impressive piece of architecture, I would drive well over and hour to see it and explore the trails around it.
This is a beautiful area of West Virginia with mountains and rivers everywhere, and the best part about it is it’s free! So why not stop and see the bridge? It’s one thing driving over it - you really can’t even see that much. It’s a whole different experience if you walk one of the short trails to the vantage points overlooking the bridge. Make the extra effort and do it because you’ll be very happy you did!

Drove 11hrs to see this bridge. Well worth it. Spent 1hr on the scenic trail looking at the bridge. Highly recommend the Fayette station road. Most of it is only one way, and has switch backs. Many Beautifle waterfalls right along the road.

The whole park area is beautiful. There are many hiking trails of all experience levels. Driving to the bottom and up the other side is a must, the scenery at the bottom is beautiful as well. There is parking at the bottom and kayak launch and landing areas.
The visitor center has a small museum that gives information about early life of the New River Gorge coal miners and loggers, as well as how the gorge was formed.

Wow!!! It’s a beautiful bridge. I love how well it fits into the adjacent landscape and it actually adds to the overall ambience instead of taking away from it. When driving the bridge, it's interesting that their is no elevation change upon it's approach and the drop-off can come suddenly if your not expecting it. From the ground and this viewpoint, you get a sense of just how well engineered and thought through the design was. I think this is an absolute gem of engineering that doesn't get talked about enough with some other bridges in the country. Well worth a visit for a few days.

Oh my gosh, where to even start. The New is one of my absolute favorite places in the world to visit.
It is so amazing and beautiful. The view of the bridge is incredible, I just love driving over it. So many great hiking trials, amazing people left and right, delicious, local food all over and great campgrounds. I love it there so much.

I grew up in WV but only drive over the bridge once, never actually seeing it. It was a foggy and rainy Easter and my daughters and I decided to drive to the base on our way back to VA. It’s a winding one way road but the views are breathtaking. I think the fog only added to its beauty!

We made a last minute trip to the New River Gorge Bridge and let me tell you, it was breathtaking. There is an educational visitor's center and a cozy little gift store with so many different things. There's also an ice cream/fudge shop! The first part of the walk/view can be accessed with a wheelchair but if you go farther down to the best viewing spot there are quite a bit of stairs. All in all it's a must see if you live in WV or are just visiting/ driving through.

It’s our first trip to this amazing and beautiful park!!! This bridge is incredible. The bridge is a continuous-span, open-spandrel, arch truss bridge constructed of steel. The overall length of the bridge is 3,030 feet, 6 inches (measured from center-to-center of end bearings) and the arch, the longest steel arch in the United States2 , measures 1,700 feet. The width of the bridge is 73 feet 5 inches to the outside of the parapet walls. In total, the massive structure weighs in at 88 million pounds including 21,000 tons of structural steel, 1,700 tons of reinforcing steel, 17,000 cubic yards of substructure concrete, and 6,000 cubic yards of superstructure concrete. The architectural design, the man power of the steel workers, and the inspiring views from every angle and every turn all make this a must see. No matter on the top of mountain or the deepest base of the river, You must stop every over overlook point to get breathtaking views! The driving of mountain skills is the most important part of the journey!!!

The iconic symbol of the newest National Park: New River Gorge. This marvel is on the West Virginia state quarter. The bridge is breathtaking considering its place in the Eastern United States. The visitor center parking lot is about a quarter mile away. They have a trail that leads to an overlook of the bridge but if you continue down the road there are opportunities to get on the river level. Kayaking and river rafting opportunities are abound. If you are feeling bold there is a walkway that is especially challenging for anyone with a fear of heights.

I love bridges! The New River Gorge Bridge is magnificent, standing 876 feet above the New River, making it one of the highest vehicular bridges in the world. Completed in 1977, it is the third highest in the United States and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
No, you can't walk across the bridge during normal days but they do close it once a year for crazy people to climb and jump and such. And there are plenty of spots in the park nearby where you can get some amazing photos.
The park is open until sunset, though the ranger office and visitor center close at 5pm. There is no overnight parking in the lot.

One of the newer National Parks with areas to view the New River Gorge Bridge. Structure of the bridge can be seen from lower roads. Rivers and scenery are beautiful from the observation points. I don't advise you to go to the lower viewing deck if steps bother you because there are a lot!
Alita Whited — Google review
An absolute testament to civil engineering & the American steelworkers, the New River Gorge Bridge is something to behold. Located in the National Park there are many ways to observe the bridge. There is a upper observation deck which is very easy to walk to and access. The lower observation deck offers a different perspective of the bridge. Just know that there is 160 steps to the bottom, and the climb back up can be a bit challenging. There is also a visitors center & museum that offers the history & building of the bridge. A must see!
Also there is a “Bridge Walk” experience. You will have a guide and be part of a group that walks the entire 3,030 ft of the bridge. You will be harnessed in and using a maintenance walkway under the bridge. The walk is very scenic, looking down from 876 ft you can enjoy the view of the river & park.
I loved the bridge walk a strongly recommended it!!

Hiked up to an overlook to view jumping day! Watched many parachutes open as people jumped off the bridge. Most landed on the beach but some landed in the river. The rescue boats arrived within 30 seconds to help them get out of the cold water with their gear. Saw lots of river rafts in the river too. The bridge was closed all day until 5pm, but the police had it open right on time so we could drive across it and fry on our way. Looked like a well organized event.

We had an excellent stay here in February 2022. We stayed in the cabins and they were clean with comfortable beds. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful and friendly. We ate at The Lost Paddle restaurant on site and the food was good with great service. We didn’t stay for trivia night, but it seems like they have a lot of events and activities even in the winter season. My only recommendation is to maybe make their quiet hours start at 10 pm instead of midnight.

I took a group on a Lower New rafting expedition for my brother's bachelor party this past weekend and had such an incredible time!! The rapids were so much fun, and the staff were all amazing. Our guide Matt was exceptional - he was so friendly and full of great stories and information, and made us all feel so safe in the raft while navigating a thrilling ride down the river. We all loved him and had a perfect day, despite some rainy skies. Could not recommend ACE rafting, or Matt, enough!

We had a fantastic raft trip! We've been on rafting trips out West and I honestly didn't think this would be as good, but all of us agreed this was better! We did an all day trip on the lower New River which included lunch. I didn't realize it when we booked (this was a very last minute trip) but the route for the full and half day trips are the same. However, I still recommend the full day trips because you really get to take your time on the river. We got to go back and surf some of the rapids, jump of a rock cliff, get out and float during some parts, and got to relax between rapids instead of paddling constantly. Our guide, Garrison, was great at giving us directions throughout the ride and keeping us safe (and helping us back into the boat when we fell out). lunch was really good as well, with several options to choose from. Also, the whole ACE resort area was way nicer than we expected. The bathrooms, showers and changing rooms were very clean. We definitely want to come back again with younger kids to try the water park, because it looked super fun! I know there are several companies to choose from for rafting in this area, but I would highly recommend ACE!

ALMOST DIED HERE and the resort was very irresponsible. It was the worst experience of my life.
First, the website misled us that this activity was beginner-friendly, which it wasn’t. The reality was far more miserable than we expected.
Second, when the instructor assigned the rafts, he didn’t consider that all the lightest people were in our raft. As a result, our raft flipped over three times during the entire trip. This almost cost us our lives!!
We haven’t received any apology nor compensation until now. Don’t come to this resort if you and your families/friends want a nice trip.

We went rafting and it was an excellent trip. Our guide Scotty O. asked us early if we wanted kid friendly or adult humor and he definitely delivered. The river was great and he only dumped us once! We didn’t stay on ACE property, but we did the 1/2 lower new river rafting trip @2pm with Jordan Smith as our guide! She was amazing!! She was skilled, informative, fun and personable! When we return
we will ask for her! The rapids ranged from 1-5, we were able to swim & my whole family (husband, 12 yo daughter, 15 yo daughter and myself) had loads of fun!!
The next day we did a full day climbing & rappelling off site with Laurel as our guide and she, too, was amazingly skilled, professional and personable! We had fun, learned new things and left ready to climb more. (Our family climbs at an indoor gym and this was great for our first outdoor experience).

We used Ace Adventures to do the "Fall Run" on the Gauley River. We opted for the "Double Marathon" rafting trip, which is two 26 mile runs back to back. It was very strenuous, and not for beginners. I highly recommend Ace for River runs !

We did the Gauley Marathon rafting trip and it was incredible all around. Susan was the lead for the day and our actual raft guide and is the most organized, kind but direct to get done what needs to be, knowledgeable and fun person to be around and made the trip exciting and safe for the whole day. It was well done from start to finish with organization and communication. Email/text ahead of time, places to get ready and shower off after, rental gear that kept us warm, and you could tell the guides just flowed and communicated well instinctually, especially thanks to Susan and her leadership. She is incredible and made this the best rafting experience! Rapids were phenomenal on this river but know what you are getting into with this - we have also been on the New River in the past which was great for the newer people we went with then.

We had a blast doing a half day whitewater rafting run of the lower New River with guide Annalee! We drove in from Cleveland, Ohio and it was so worth our drive. We had some folks who went before and 4 newbies in our group. Annalee kept it wild and challenging for the people who already loved rafting and kept it fun and informative for our new folks. She even shared a lot of the National Park & WV history with us. Annalee was particularly kind and considerate with some health issues amongst our group. Our guide was Jordan and she was fantastic! She was trendy and relatable for everyone in the group. So many times we fell back just because the boat conversation was so good!
Upper mash mashed us around pretty good, lost her and another off the raft, but she was able to give us direction from the middle of the water in the midst of a rapid and keep us going -- legendary!
We even recovered in the midst of the rapid getting everyone back on board and recollecting the lost shoe & paddle! 😂
We stayed in a cabin tent and they were a bit cold, as they aren't heated, but if you pack warm, they're pretty nice!
Overall great experience with Ace Adventure, their lodging, and their guides!

We did the half day lower New River rafting. My son & I are experienced white water rafters, but it was my sisters first time. The experience was outstanding! The safety talk made everyone feel ready for the trip and there was a guide in each raft. There were 2, 3, 4 & 5’s. At the top of the 3, 4 & 5’s, the guide quickly reminded us of the safety procedures and were to swim in the unlikely event that we fell out of the raft. No one even came close to that, but the information was reassuring. Everyone from checking in, picking up our equipment, rafting and turning in our equipment was great - friendly, willing to answer questions, touch of humor. The day could not have been better.

Didn’t stay here but wish we did. We started at the zip line and it was an incredible experience. Liz, Justin and Zeb were so much fun and really made the trip invigorating. Great information and tour as well scenery and personalities. You have to go zip line!
We then went on the white water rafting trip with Matt. To say it was a blast is an understatement. I didn’t think we could top the zip line from earlier in the day but the rafting was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. The staff here are incredible and just want to shout out thank you to Matt, Liz, Justin and Zeb! Excellent work and keep the energy up.

My family and I stayed in Blackberry. It is a small open campsite towards the back. Bathroom facilities were pretty good for camping and campsite was well-maintained. The rafting was fun (Upper New), and I definitely recommend taking a duckie over the raft if you have the choice. The water park honestly stole the show though - lots of fun for the whole family with dozens of obstacles, water slides, zip lining, a blob, and more. The food was excellent too!
Conch outlook is worth the drive as well. Definitely will go back!

We did a guided family white water rafting trip with Ace and it could not have been better! The guides were absolutely amazing and the trip we did (upper New River, all day) was a perfect trip for families with kids. There was just enough rapids for it be exciting and plenty of opportunities for the kids to swim and play in the river. They fed us a surprisingly nice lunch and we even got a cool little tour of the island where we stopped. Just a well done experience all around. Also make sure to budget in to buy the pictures after the tour. The tour photographer did a fantastic job capturing the action shots and they are definitely keepsakes. Highly recommend this company if you’re looking to do any rafting. They were a well oiled machine but made it all feel very personal. An unforgettable experience!
Protected mountain forest with a boardwalk for viewing crevices, boulders & overhanging cliffs.
Words and pictures don't do it justice, you really have to experience it firsthand. Note that it is partially wheelchair/stroller accessible, but the accessible portion of the boardwalk is pretty short. The gate to the park was closed and there were some confused people standing outside the gate unsure of whether to go in. Luckily we had read other reviews that instructed us just to walk through the gated section. From the gate to the park it is about .3 miles. Even though the park was technically closed because of the time of year, the bathroom was unlocked. Keep in mind if you do visit when it's closed there's only room for 2, maybe 3 cars to park by the gate.

I went here on the recommendation of a friend and am so glad I did.Even in 90 degree weather, it was cool comfortable Temps and interesting. Kinda disappointing to see graffiti on the new wood, but people don't respect our parks anymore..still worth a nice, easy hike on a boardwalk . Bathroom is gross..so go before you go...and the road to the park is a little over a mile and one lane..just a heads up

My parents (late 60s and early 70s) and my husband & I (early 40s) took a trip to Beartown together in mid-June. The weather was mild, the greens (trees, ferns, mosses) were bright and vivid), and there were only a couple of other people in the park besides us. It was absolutely gorgeous and we were all easily able to traverse the boardwalks throughout the park.
I do enjoy hiking, but there's something I really like about the look of a boardwalk in the wilderness. I know that sounds weird. I love taking photos of them though. There's just something about the juxtaposition of the boardwalk between those massive rocks, and the different colors. I don't know, I'm strange, what can I say? But this and Cranberry Glades may be my favorite places in WV now.

This is a magical place! Take the time to go there. The gate was locked for winter, but you can still walk 1500 ft to the start of the walk.

An interesting side trip to take if you’re in the area, the geology aspect alone makes the trip worth it. Tons of sandstone boulders to walk amongst on a boardwalk that makes a look. The loop takes about 30-45 minutes to make at a leisurely pace. I would not recommend using the outhouse by the parking area unless you really had to go.

I enjoyed that for sure! Very interesting place to look around and take pics of, bonus for us we got to see a pretty big black bear we left some pretzels for. 😏

if you like nature, Moss and rocks, you will absolutely love this State Park! And the boardwalk around the park blends right in to the landscape, what an awesome experience you get to have, It is a small park in a secluded area of Greenbrier County, West Virginia!I can’t wait to go view it in the Fall, I know it’s going to be just gorgeous, Hopefully this time I will get to see a bear and get to stay longer

Wonderful walkways through beautiful rocks and trees makes this a very special place. A small section is wheelchair accessible, the majority is not. Yet, my wife was able to negotiate the steps and really enjoyed the trip.

Fantastic; there are well paved boardwalks that take you to the rocks. The rocks themselves are full of holes and pits and just fantastic to observe up close. The walk is 20 minute but you can easily spend an hour if you stop to check the rocks out.
(Visitor center guide at Marlinton explained to me) that this place used to be hunting ground for bears and these animals used to hide in between these rocks. Apparently there is a network of holes in the rocks where bears live/hibernate and hence the name beartown

Beautiful place with a nice boardwalk. A pretty place to visit during any season, but we love to visit in the fall.

Located on the eastern part of Droop Mountain, Beartown State Park is an 110-acre park with a fairly narrow access road. Its peaceful environment has been a nice spot to explore for over 50 years.
One of the nice things about the park…there was no getting lost in the maze of rocks as long as you stayed on the “elevated” boardwalk that runs throughout the park.
According to Alltrails app, the Beartown Boardwalk is labeled as an “easy” 1/2-mile loop trail. The wooden walkway does a great job winding you through the rock maze so that you have an up-close adventure. The downside…if you have mobility issues, I need to mention…there are multiple sets of stairs throughout the boardwalk trail.
I’m always amazed how adaptive trees are. Don’t trees need soil and nurturing to live? This isn’t the first time I’ve seen trees literally growing on rocks and other surfaces you wouldn’t think they could.
The horizontal fractured rock formations of what they call “droop” limestone could be seen throughout the park.
The towering trees were just beginning to change colors in this part of Greenbrier County when we were there. With trees as tall as 30 ft, Beartown is a great place for tree and rock lovers.

Definitely worth checking out of you have some spare time! A pretty plus-size friendly hike from your fellow plus size hiker. The entire trail is a board walk and very short! We walked it in 20-30 minutes. Lots of steps, but just a few at a time, and then straight level walking. Beware how slick it is when wet!
A very small portion is handicap accessible. When you pull in, you see the main parking lot. When entering the trail, to the left you’ll see a gravel drive way. If you drive down it, you are taken directly to handicap parking spaces that take you to the board walk without using stairs. From there, there is just a small portion to see before you have to inevitably use stairs.

This reminds me of a smaller more natural and intimate version of Rock City. Awesome boardwalk loop over and through the “streets” of beartown. A small parking area for maybe 10 cars. One picnic table and i didn’t notice any outhouse. The access road is recently paved but narrow. A small but representative section is wheelchair accessible. The rest is an easy walk but with frequent stairs. Plenty of signage to let you know what you’re looking at. A great stop to add if you’re also going to Droop Mountain Battlefield.
Plush 1766 retreat offering refined quarters, a water park & a spa, plus golf, tennis & dining.
We had a great long weekend at the Homestead. Service was incredible, food was delicious, and drinks were plentiful. The history and character of the property is everywhere and really added to the experience. We also enjoyed a soak in the warm springs and a round of sporting clays at the gun club.
One note, the renovation has progressed really well but isn’t complete yet. We didn’t have a dresser in our room, which was a little strange. I hope those will be arriving soon.

I have been visiting The Homestead for years and it is one of my favorite places. Most recently we stayed at The Homestead in early May 2022. The resort is undergoing a much needed major renovation. The rooms had been looking "tired" for a while and the rest of the hotel has fallen into disrepair. I am glad that Omni is investing in this beautiful historic property to hopefully bring it back to the high standards many of the guests are accustomed to! If you are considering visiting The Homestead for the first time I encourage you to wait until the renovations are completed. During our recent stay, we received wonderful service from the staff members. Two individuals stood out. Deborah at the front desk was very friendly and her warm welcome was a wonderful start to our vacation. Andrew the bellhop was absolutely incredible. Even though he did not help us directly he always remembered who we were when we passed him in the lobby and he went out of his way to make sure we had everything that we needed! Andrew went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and he deserves to be recognized for his impressive level of customer service. We are looking forward to returning when the renovations are completed and hope that our review will return to a five-star rating.

While the staff is doing all they can, the hotel is undergoing a massive renovation and there are many services that are unavailable and the experience isn't what you would expect, and there is still a healthy resort fee charge.
We did enjoy a nice recently renovated room, the guided hike was a fun experience, and the spa is terrific.
If you go during the renovation, ask upfront what is available and if it is really ready, such as on property food or if you should make arrangements off property. Bring your own food and drink!

We were there during labor day weekend and we have had a great time. The property is beautiful and well maintained. All staff members were friendly and helpful. We have had breakfast and dinner buffet during our visit and it was wonderful. They have a lot of activities whole day for kids and adults. It is a little bit pricey but it's worth to spend your hard earned money here.

It has been a family tradition for a long time to come here but it is been about 7 years. With the hundred million plus renovations, expectations were high. But they were not met. The kids enjoyed the pools and the ice skating. But for a week that is about all that they could do. I don't know if it's short staffed or what, but almost nothing was working or available. We had a large party and everyone that made spa reservations. They happen to have lost them, so many people did not get the services they wanted.
Room service is only for breakfast.
About 25% of what's in the arcade actually work.
All the renovated the rooms weren't as clean as you would want for a luxury resort with hairs on the bathroom floor, etc.
The food was pretty good.
Anything that you want to do or that you would ask for expect the answer to be no. Whether it was an activity or a bottle of wine off the menu, chances are it's not going to happen. The highs were in the upper 40s the entire week we were there so it was very disappointing that they couldn't make or have snow for any snow activities. We actually spent a lot of time off campus in town so that helped to add some to some things to do. The first night we drove in we were kind of tired and all reservations were booked and long waits for dinner. So we ordered a head to take out from the Jefferson taproom and they got about 60% of the order right. The people are friendly and they do try to take care of you, but it's certainly was a challenge to feel like a relaxing, luxury vacation. The kids enjoyed the kids camp while we had a spa day and since I was there 7 years ago there were no upgrades, the steam rooms were broken, they didn't have any spa sandals available, and it didn't feel like anything had been clean and almost as long. With that said, it was still a relaxing experience with the hot springs pool and everything else you can get with a day pass. I'm not saying this place is bad, just that it's not nearly what it used to be. Even with all the renovations. I believe most of the renovations were infrastructure and exterior so it did look nice from the outside.

The location for this hotel is amazing. You have the hot springs to enjoy and a ski area as well within a short shuttle ride. The building is very impressive and you can feel the history as you're walking the hallways. There is a large number of activities for the whole family to enjoy.
The check in staff was very nice. We got offered champagne and our son got a little care package that included a few snacks and a teddy bear.
The rooms in our part of the hotel have definitely seen better days. The shower was weird and we didn't have hot water in the evening. It would be fine in the morning.
We did ice skating and outdoor pool on the same day and there was only one person working both. He was clearly overwhelmed but did the best he could with renting out skates to people. That meant he was unable to replenish the towels in the pool locker rooms.
Despite mediocre room, I would definitely return to enjoy the hot springs pools, ice skating and skiing.

Beautiful resort with TONS of history. The staff is friendly and ready to help with whatever you need. Several dinning and bar options on site as well as activities for your whole family; golf, falconry, horse back riding, skeet shooting, hiking and many more. If the spa is more your speed, they have a full service spa with heated pools and a mineral bath. All of these great amenities come at a price as The Homestead is on the very expensive side. Bring some extra cash so you can tip their wonderful staff as they help you throughout your stay. But with the panoramic views of the mountains, wonderful staff and all of the activities; you should give The Homestead a visit.

Stayed here over the long weekend. Hotel is going through a big renovation (which is good). The grounds were amazing and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s all done. Big shout out to Brian, the Cascades Gorge Hike tour guide. He was engaging, full of knowledge, funny, and genuinely loves what he does. He even stopped to wave to us from his car while we were walking through the town of Hot Springs. He deserves a pay raise!

Stellar service, beautiful views, relaxing retreat with plenty to do. The spa is amazing, and the rooms are comfortable. Don't get hung up in negative reviews. Yes, they are renovating sections of the resort. It's historic! And beautiful. So enjoy it, but be sure to read all current online notices if that's going to be an issue for you. Do yourself a favor and have a spa day.

I had played golf at the Old Course and the Cascades both of these courses are time less classes. We loved the Jefferson’s restaurant the steak was prefect the pizza at Woody’s was some of the best I’ve ever had. The pool was beautiful we had a cabana and the service was great the food was amazing it was a all around great time. The only thing I would like to be different was when I was playing a game of croquet a bunch of little black bugs were swarming in my face when trying to play which cut the game a little short. I love the Homestead this is a family favorite and next year is going to be so much fun.

While traveling through the area we booked two nights here to stay with our toddler and infant. I think that the grounds and hotel are immaculate and absolutely stunning. The food is also great and staff friendly. Everything about the property is wonderful but for value I think the property is overpriced considering how expensive all activities and food are on the premises. Wonderful place to visit, but overpriced in my opinion even in this category of lodging and travel.

It’s difficult to get to, but well worth it! This resort has so much history and is so scenic and gorgeous. We did falconry (Linda did an incredible job!), visited the warm springs, played lots of golf and spent two days at the spa. It was truly fabulous and well worth it! Definitely go!

We enjoyed the fresh air and the hot spring offerings. Spent a day at the spa and used the newly added waterslide. It was a very relaxing 3 days. The food was just average and the town didn’t have much to offer for out of the resort dining.

TLDR: Gorgeous but just way too expensive for what you get to be honest…
So beautiful! Great location, excellently preserved and maintained, and lots of activities to choose from! Everything was very clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful! DEFINITELY TRY THE HOT SPRINGS!
With that in mind, this place will absolutely HEMORRHAGE your wallet. For a buffet style breakfast (2 adults) it was $90! Even their cheapest restaurant (Woody’s) ran us a $150 bill for 2 mid quality entrees and a drink each. Food isn’t all that great to be honest, but they know people will pay the high prices because it’s a captive market with the few other dining options in the surrounding area.
For the price of everything here, I hate to say it’s absolutely NOT worth the money. Unless you have a lot of disposable income, this place will eat you alive!

My group had a really nice experience at the resort. The staff was lovely, everyone was super nice and accommodating and if not for one problem I would give them 5 stars. On the last day of our stay our beds were never made, which was odd cause we were out most of the day. And every other day they had made our beds and tidied up the room. We then later searched the room for a couple things that we couldn’t find. We all chucked it up to misplacing things around the room and believed we would find it when we packed up.
When we packed up our stuff we looked all over the room, pulling up couch cushions, stripping the linen, everything. We could not find our stuff.
Because of the price of our items we decided it wasn’t really worth making a scene, and joked that a ghost stole our items. The items that were lost were a deodorant, body wash, a bathing suit bottom, and a pair of earrings. The earrings were not expensive so it’s not that big of a deal. The odd thing is the more expensive jewelry wasn’t touched.
Overall watch your things, utilize the safe, very odd experience lol. I don’t want to completely blame the staff, cause who knows maybe it really was a ghost, who knows.
Besides that everything else was perfect, great food, comfortable beds, nice ambience! I also loved our waiters throughout the stay, especially the one on the last night!

The staff is fabulous. Customer service is off the chart. The food is good but pricey. The water pressure in the shower is weak and the hot water never got very hot. I understand the hotel is going through a major renovation and hope that we can return once it is done. I would definitely recommend taking the historic tour given by Mr. Anthony Pusey.

We just celebrated the most amazing Thanksgiving at The Homestead! The staff is incredible…you feel like you’re visiting family. We loved the beautiful holiday decor(and lighting of the Christmas tree); the hot springs, skeet shooting, hiking, the historic tour (Anthony, you brought this tour to life…thank you!)…and the delicious Thanksgiving dinner in the Ballroom. There is not one thing we would change! We will be back! Can’t wait to see the completed renovation. Thank you, Homestead❤️

Absolutely beautiful hotel!!! Really enjoyed the warm spring pool at the spa. Our 2 nights we went to dinner, we had excellent service and quality food served by Gill. Falconry 101 was amazing. The only thing we did not understand was the elevator floor numbering system. We are sure that will be taken care of with the continued renovations going on there.

We were expecting more and better for the price we paid 💵
A lot of construction 🚧 , outdated, cheap fixes, and lots of little details that tell you that this place is selling “luxury” but far from the luxury. The only luxurious part of staying at Omni is the price $$$.
Not even a continental breakfast, the dining options are poor, the room decor is undone, and one out of two working elevators. We did enjoy our stay but were disappointed about the cost and the options 🙁

Planned 3 day honeymoon with our pup. Hotel is SO old. It’s literally falling apart. Even the parts which weren’t going active renovation were breaking down. Staff is professional. Housekeeping left carts out in the hallway for the entire day. One room’s door was open for all three days - where they keep supplies like clean towels and toilet paper. It was so gross - they literally keep it on the floor. All of this is VERY inappropriate for the price you are paying.
All the good is overpriced for the quality. Also, a couple of staff members told me that there are a lot of fake reviews to purposefully keep the ratings high.
They will do a lot of things without telling you. For example, they said all cars are valet only but still charged us a $40 fee on every night for our final bill.
Paid for a $150 pedicure, come to find out they don’t do gel.
Also it’s hella boring if you’re not an owner/have your own club house. From research, it appears this was a prestigious hotel in the past. Now the upscale treatment has moved to the owners and I feel they take advantage of guests by having them stay in the main resort.
One pro is all the staff is very professional.
Do not waste your time and money!

A common problem for most resorts post covid is staffing.. That said, even with the obvious challenges this remotely located resort is experiencing the level of service that was given by the staff was top-notch! The hotel recently got a facelift with all the rooms being remodeled. The golf courses were absolutely spectacular as we played both courses in two days and we couldn't have been more pleased with their condition and the level of service given by the courses employees. True Southern hospitality all the way.. Sadly we had to return back home to San Diego after a 3 night whirlwind adventure but we will be back!

I came to The Homestead many times when I was younger with my parents and finally had the pleasure of bringing my family. This is our second Thanksgiving and this beautiful destination just gets better and better. It is truly a magical place, the location is beautiful, the staff are so accommodating and delightful. The breakfast in the dining room is amazing, especially the homemade donuts. We spend our days hiking, riding horses, swimming in the indoor pool. The falconry class was such a unique experience and our guide was so knowledgeable. There are endless activities to fill your time! We end our days with a drink by the fire in the cozy great hall and a movie in the theater. Thanksgiving at The Homestead is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season. To all the staff who work endlessly, thank you for all that you do to make The Homestead such a joyful and magical destination. We appreciate you and are so grateful!

This place is absolutely gorgeous and extremely well maintained. I’m glad to see that the renovations of this property are bringing it back to life. I had the pleasure of taking a class in falconry and was pleasantly surprised on the experience I had. Another thing I got to experience was a horse drawn carriage ride through the woods on a carriage that’s over 200 years old. The coachman was extremely friendly, professional, and knowledgeable on the history of the property and surrounding properties so as an added bonus we got a history lesson on the ride, would highly recommend this as well. The amount of activities to do here are endless we barely had time to scratch the surface on everything they had to offer. If you only have time for one thing I would recommend a day at the spa while enjoying the hot springs because that’s a truly one of a kind experience. The staff at the resort were truly exceptional and really understood what the definition of hospitality means. Without a doubt I will be returning here in the the near future.

We enjoyed our stay at the Homestead in one of the 2 queen-bed suites last week. The hotel was rather quiet midweek so we did not experience any of the staffing issues that other reviewers mentioned. The service was wonderful and very professional. Champagne at check in was appreciated. The new decor is lovely in the grand lobby and other areas, but I agree with another reviewer that the new designer seemed to avoid the traditional Virginia elegant look in the West Wing hallway. (I also took a photo of it as the other reviewer did in disbelief). I hope someone will reconsider and change the carpeting to something lovely like before or at least try to coordinate it with the wallpaper. Of course this would not stop me from staying there again. The hotel historic tour was great with Anthony who genuinely loves this hotel and the renovation of the theater is beautiful. We enjoyed the Audubon dining room with the wonderful pianist and food. Oscar, our server, was so much fun! There is a connection to the gorgeous outdoors even while inside on cold days with firepits and blankets on the front porch and fireplaces burning in the lobby. The large windows in the Jefferson dining room/bar areas overlooking the beautiful back grounds are stunning. We are looking forward to returning there to see the Christmas tree and decorations in December. We appreciate the Omni "rescuing" this grand historic and beautiful resort but hope that the gray-black design that current hotels exhibit does not take over this lovely place.
Buildings aren't open but right behind the tourist booth they're is a watering hole. It's actually a hot spring it's warm not hot but it's private except that the road is close. But they're is no walk it's free it's clean. As long as we keep it clean. It's a must experience if your into hot springs

Beautiful and relaxing! I wish they would have told me their was a waterfall I could access versus just floating in the water for an hour. But my husband found his as he is apparently more adventurous than I am.

The experience was great! First, you spend time in the hotel foyer, which is absolutely gorgeous. It has several fireplaces you can wait by on big comfortable couches and loves seats while you wait for your shuttle. The little cafe area they have is cute as well. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, and the customer service is top-notch. Once it was time to go, a kindly older gentleman shuttled us to the spring.
When we got there, we waited until the time slot began, we were given a brief orientation as well about the hot spring.
When we got inside, admittedly, it was very cold outside the water. The changing area has slight cracks in the floor leading outside (to drain all the water tracked in obviously), so it was like standing on an air conditioning vent. A simple towel on the floor fixed the issue.
The water, once inside, was amazing. It was a decent size pool of hot springs, so clear and comfortable. I never wanted to get out, it was such an amazing experience. After the hour, everyone got out and changed and were shuttled back again.
I learned while there apparently, you can just park at the mineral spring location and skip the shuttle and hotel part, but honestly it was such a pretty and cool experience, I'm glad I did it.

The Jefferson Pools are absolutely amazing. The water is crystal clear and very relaxing. You have to set up a reservation to soak and the front desk staff are more than willing to help. The building are the original buildings from the 1800's, so they are very rustic feeling. Overall I would give this place a 10/10. Definitely recommend it to the locals and out of towners.

What an amazing experience. The only thing that bothered us was the group size was too big. The warm springs are not that big and having too many couples in a group limits your ability to move around in the water.

Relaxing and refreshing place to experience a Bath County staple. Make a reservation, busiest times are 2pm and 5pm, Fri, Sat & Sun. During the week is pretty empty and you’ll have most of the pool to yourself.
They only allow a certain number of guests per hour so you have plenty of room in the pools, sometimes you’ll have to wait on the changing rooms but never very long. The checkin process can be a bit stale, but the bathhouse itself feels natural and rehabilitating. Everyone is kind and positive. I definitely recommend going in nice weather if possible, between 50-70°. Spring or fall times seem best.
Water is just under 100° and comfortable. Obviously bring a swimsuit, towels are provided, and i recommend a pair of flip flops. No reason to bring anything more than a credit card to pay for entry and souvenirs if wanted.
Also, bring your dog but not to the bath house, there’s room to run and explore. Bring some snacks, a picnic, a book, some music, nice days are quite relaxing here.
Houses are labeled “gentlemen’s” and “Ladies” but it’s purely historic, they’re both co-Ed and basically the same experience. We did notice the gentleman’s seemed to be a slightly louder and outgoing crowd, but that may have just been coincidence. Most experiences are usually quiet and serene.
Stay at the warm springs inn. Eat at the old dairy, just down the road. And relax here.

Overall, fascinating experience. From the receptionist I called to make the booking a week prior to the in-house attendant, staff was gracious and welcoming. The in house attendant even went to the men's bath to bring extra pool noodles when our bath ran out. The rooms were clean and neat.
My only annoyance was that the 3pm visit on a Sunday was loud despite the attendant asking folks politely to stay quiet to respect those who come for relaxation. I wish there had been more of a restriction on number of reservations for that time, especially with it being women only. I chose and paid for this hour to avoid children and men, aka a truly relaxing getaway hour. Instead, the crowded room spoke with normal voices which echoed and interrupted any semblance of relaxation.
I recommend to ask for a time slot that has the least reservations so far.

Worth the trip 100% I have traveled around the world and this site is just magical! The renovations are classical and historic. Went on a Sunday, early afternoon. We booked ahead and expected a crowd due to the gorgeous weather the couple weeks prior. Needless to say, it was a bit crowded at first sight. But once we walked into the office we were quickly greeted by friendly faces and offered the chance to join the group that just started. We were an hour early and jumped at the chance. Looking back I would have waited, we missed some soaking time changing into our swimsuits and such. But each bath house has plenty of changing rooms right by the pools. Only negative aspects I can think of were the smell, kinda like rotten eggs since the area is so rich in sulfur, and the chill, temperatures were right around freezing and though the waters were amazingly warm any time spent out of them was eye opening. They have big fluffy towels there and pool noodles to use as well. Pool depths vary but any basic swimmer shouldn't have any issue keeping above water. I think they limit groups to 18 individuals in a pool at once which left plenty of room to find a spot for my partner and I to stretch out. Can't wait to go again, but on a day where temps hover between 45 and 60.

My experience at the geothermal spring bathhouse in Warm Springs, VA, owned by Omni Resorts, was simply amazing! The bathhouse boasts a beautiful pool of water with a comfortable temperature of 80°F, creating the perfect ambiance for relaxation and rejuvenation. I was particularly delighted with the thoughtful addition of a small waterfall-like area for couples, allowing them to enjoy a romantic soak together.
About the Place:
The bathhouse's attention to detail impressed me; they provided everything needed for a delightful time in the springs. With a generous 50-minute bath time, I had plenty of opportunity to unwind and take in the tranquil surroundings. The inclusion of floating noodles, towels, and small changing rooms ensured a seamless and comfortable experience for all guests.
The location of the bathhouse is another highlight, offering a scenic view of the river, adding to the overall charm of the place. I had a truly enjoyable and relaxing time at the Omni Resorts geothermal spring bathhouse, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a soothing escape in a picturesque setting. 🛁🌿🌊

Absolute hidden gem. Not too many of these public natural bathing pools kind of places open to the public on the east side of the USA. The water temp was not hot but a relaxing body-temp and only faintly smelled of sulfur. It was about 30F outside so a fair amount of steam was rising. The cost per person not staying at the Omni Homestead is $30 for a 50 minute soak. There are two pools: "Gentleman's" and "Ladies'" I got there early and they let me in early for some extra time. The first part of the day is mixed adult clothed in the "Gentleman's" pool. The 3pm-6pm time range is clothing optional separated by genders in the two different pools. There are private changing rooms but not enough to keep your stuff in if the time slot is full. I believe they max out at 20 people by reservations which you need to have to get the time you want. There are hooks outside to hang your clothes. I recommend bringing a bag to keep your stuff together and out of the steam. They provide towels and pool noodles. The water is nearly uniformly about 5 feet deep. I could have stayed in there all day soaking, so relaxing! There are no heaters in the changing rooms so on a cold day it gets quite cold when wet and naked! Be sure to check out the overflow to get a back massage from the water running out of the pool into a small creek outside. You're still in the building but you can see outside. I would definitely visit here again!

Such a calming space for some relaxation soaking time. I'd highly recommend this place whether you go by yourself or with others. Make sure you make reservations ahead of time. I went in January when it was snowing faintly and the water still kept me very warm while in the pool. So I wouldn't mind going again during the off-season when it's a bit colder out. Great experience. The host was friendly, accommodating and super knowledgeable.
The bath was great and the session was very well organized! Don’t forget to make a reservation and bring an empty bottle to take some of the water with you 😉

A delightful afternoon spent letting the waters flow over us. Not as hot as other springs (thus the name), but still quite calm. A slight sulfur aroma, but pretty tame compared to places with higher mineral content.

We had a nice experience and will come back in the future. It’s $30 for 50min dip. We went to the men’s bath and the water is 6 feet deep on average, they provide noodles to everyone so don’t worry if you don’t know how to swim. You can also stay close to the stairs. The water is 94degrees, not hot but warm. There are 10 different minerals in that water, we felt so relaxed after!
They provide towels, and you don’t need slippers just bring your swimsuit. There are dressing rooms. They’ll ask you to take your jewelry. I’d recommend arriving 15min earlier , there’s free parking but limited spots.
Black Dog Salvage is a well-known and popular warehouse in Roanoke, Virginia that offers an array of restored furniture and antiques. This eclectic store is featured on the DIY Network's Salvage Dawgs show. Visitors can spend hours browsing through their constantly changing inventory, which includes unique items for home renovation or decoration. Additionally, guests can explore the remote warehouse where surprises await at every turn.
My mom and I stopped in to check out the store and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The inventory was really interesting and every staff member was warm and welcoming. We even met Mike and had a great little chat, he’s a very sweet guy and even posed for a photo with my mom. 10/10 would absolutely recommend!

Pretty exciting visit today at this very famous Black Dog Salvage, that hit the world stage with the TV show couple of years ago. There's a part of the store with only vintage and salvage stuff (toys, furniture, light fixtures, kitchen accessories, etc.) as well as a part with refurbished and finished goods. They have here also the loft located on the 2nd floor with some high price paintings. 🖼
It's definitely an interesting spot to visit and look around for all these goods stored here, which many of them are very unique and have priceless value. However to afford them is a different thing. 😅

Just received my order and like to say thanks for Super fast shipping. I love watching your show, everyone works together so great! Tay is my favorite and has so much potential and does great work. I'm hoping your show comes back on but stream reruns all the time. Keep up the great work. James Lusk

So many wonderful things are at Black Dog Salvage. The staff were knowledgeable and were great help to me as I had questions. Several staff members assisted me in different areas of the building. I was surprised at the amount of art in the Loft. I purchased a few things and will return to see what I can find next time. I was impressed with the variety of items that were available. I also found many items that I will attempt to replicate at home.

I could wander around this place all day. Really cool vintage stuff and a few reproductions. If you need it they have it

If you are in the area. STOP BY! Great place to spend an hour (or 4) browsing all of their cool items that change every day. Ask to go to their remote warehouse as well. Every turn is a surprise. If you are renovation a home, looking for something special for your home, this is THE place to find it. Thank you Folks for a great shop

Very neat place with all kinds of salvaged items that perks a person's imagination of what all could be done each item. If you stop at the right day/time you could get to enjoy some live music and a beer or two. Definitely worth a stop even if you are not crafty and just looking for something to do.

A very cool place to visit. If it's old they got it. 4 stars because prices are high...especially some of the consignment items.

Great place for reclaimed, restored and repurposed items. I went in to get a mortise lock for our 100+ year old door and they had several to choose from.

I recently stopped here on a road trip from Boston to Florida. I was a little surprised at the sheer size and inventory in the building - they literally have a little bit of everything. I only had about an hour to spend here and it was not nearly enough as I could have spent at least half a day looking around - truly enjoyed my experience here. The employees are absolutely awesome - super friendly and helpful. Other reviewers have stated that the prices are too high but this is a legitimate salvage business that incurs significant costs to harvest inventory so the prices reflect the true market value of the items they sell. This is not a flea market and if you come here looking for flea market prices, then you should pass. However, if you are looking for very specific or unique items and willing to pay fair market value for the item, then this is the place for you. Lastly, the store is absolutely immaculate for a salvage business, It is extremely well organized and very clean. One would expect a lot of dust and dirt because it is salvage but it is not - pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and organization of the store. If you visit, I recommend at least 3 to 4 hours if you are a slow browser and at least 1.5 to 2 hours if you are looking for something specific. This place is LOADED with inventory so there's a ton to look at and I will be returning on my next road trip.

What a fun adventure! There is something for everyone and everything 💗. Black Dog Salvage has grown in the past two years and is full of wonderful artisan items as well as unusual salvage finds. The food trucks are good too... I highly recommend a visit. Cards, jewelry, candles, garden items, hanging art, etc. Have fun, get inspired, and support local businesses - make a trip to Black Dog Salvage ⭐

We were extremely excited about visiting Black Dog Salvage after watching the TV show. What we forgot to account for was that with a TV show comes TV show prices. They had a lot of availability from doors, to iron works, bathroom fixtures, light fixtures, stain glass windows, any kind of wood you would want, and furnishings. However the price tag was so large that despite the items being unique (can find some items at other shops for much cheaper) they became impractical to purchased when you could find a new item for hundreds of dollars less, looking and functioning much better. You just can’t beat the amount of stuff BDS has. Which again should be cause for lower pricing. They do have a section for vendors to sell their products and the selection varies from vendor to vendor as well as the price. It is a beautiful shop and the employees are friendly. Just to walk around and explore is fun enough.

Went with the family and we all found something we loved! Awesome place to get things or to get ideas. The staff was awesome. We probably spent 3 hours looking around, and I know we didn’t see everything. Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed my visit here for the first time. It must be a dream location for people who love restoration of any kind. There's so much going on here. You could visit over a hundred times and you'll still notice something you haven't seen before. I highly recommend this place for those in search of new projects. They also have Black Dog Salvage merchandise such as jars of apple butter, pickles, t shirts, etc.
Parking is located on the side of the building. Entrances are also on the side and front of the building.
The Virginia Museum of Transportation is a former freight depot that showcases a variety of planes, trains, and cars. Visitors can take an interactive walk along the David R. & Susan S. Goode Railwalk, which tells the story of the railroad industry in the region. Inside, there are exhibits featuring model trains and an impressive car collection. Outside, visitors can climb aboard real trains and planes.
Our family really liked exploring all the transportation vehicles in the rail yard. The other big hit was the model train exhibit of Roanoke. A great little museum. Definitely worth a couple hours if you're in Roanoke.
Monica Faucette — Google review
This is a great way to kill a couple hours or more if weather prevents you from doing more outdoor activities. The museum has a nice mixture of different types of transportation on display, but not a lot of each. They have real planes, trains, and automobiles on display here just not a lot. What they do have is very interesting and unique. The model ships and boats are exceptional and displayed well for everyone to see. There’s a simulation plane that you climb in the cabin, sit, and look around.
The rail yard is really impressive with 3 locomotives that you can go out and look at if you choose. The automobile inventory, thought limited, is still impressive and worth checking out.

Really amazing place with many interactive displays. Fun for all ages, but not a lot of kids running wild. Not too crowded.

Very exciting visit today in the Virginia Museum of Transportation here in Roanoke. A really fascinating journey back in time to learn about the history of railways. 🚂⏳️ Beside restored locomotives and railroad cars, there are also some old airplanes and vintage cars. 🛻🚙🛩 So much to see here, that the time I had (around 1,5 hrs) was far not enough. Therefore I recommend to plan more time to be able to see and experience everything in all details. I did really enjoy the visit. 💯👍🏻

This was our first visit and very enjoyable. We were brought here by friends that live in the area and had a great day. There is plenty to see and spend the day checking it all out. Great car collection, model trains, real trains outside, air planes, and much more. $10 entrance fee, $8 60 and over. Well worth the visit and you can spend a lot of time if you look closely at every display.
Philip Keithley — Google review
Really fun museum. It seems to be geared more towards kids, but I enjoyed seeing the old cars and trains anyway.
Really liked the few trains that they had built up a little entrance so you could go inside of them. The caboose was a really neat example of that.
Ticket price is a little high for what it is, but then it can't be cheap to run such a museum.
Russ D (Rusty) — Google review
Nice museum with various steam & diesel locomotives, and rolling stock. 611 steam locomotive was there when I visited last Sunday. It has been restored and is often out on excursion trips. Luck to get to see it - up close too.
It was obvious that the museum could use a stronger endowment/benefactor but seem to do well with whatever they have.
Railroads are not only focus of the museum. Have a nice automobile collection and several static educational exhibits. They also have an O-gauge model railroad children (and old men like me) would enjoy.
It's worth a visit and a great place to take grandkids. Good for rail enthusiasts as well, whether young or old.

The entry fee for 1 adult is $12.66, and you can add a donation. There's So Much to See! Trains, Planes, Cars! In addition, learn about the history of each mode of transportation, and important figures in each one. Very friendly and helpful people assisted us.

Toddler’s dream! Kids wonderland. Stroller accessible (except for second level but don’t think much is up there). Family restroom with changing table (bathroom needs to be cleaned though). Awesome to spend hours indoors here on a freezing winter day. Cars, trains, buses, planes, and more! Outside you can even watch real trains go by. Gift shop is fun. Highly recommend!

Great place to learn and marvel about trains, cars, and planes. The folks there are so kind and knowledgeable. The gift shop is cute and provides a sense of nostalgia...with the wooden train sets and water ring toss games. We will definitely be back!

I've been to this museum with friends from out of town a few times, and I always enjoy it. There's loads of stuff to learn about, trains and planes to climb in, and of course the train yard outside is lots of fun. If you're at all interested in planes, trains, and automobiles, this is the spot!

Free parking right out front. Entry was $12.
We spent about 2-3 hours here. The exhibits are a little tired in places (Some must be 15 years old!) But very interesting nonetheless.
Definite highlights are railyard and the model trains!

What an excellent museum! It’s professionally set up with trains, cars, planes, buses, fire trucks, and memorabilia. We really enjoyed our time here. The huge 611 steam engine was my favorite. Well worth the entrance fee.

Third visit here in the last ten years, this visit was on par with my first. Plenty of things to see between the cars on display inside and the trains on display out in the yard. Really enjoyed the circus train displays on the upper level.
Brady Harper — Google review
We like this place! It's easy to do and fun for all ages. We even joined last year but refuse to join this year because at this museum they make you pay for special events, like their trick or treating etc. So we will visit when guests come. They are constantly adding things, and the history they have collected is very impressive. It was great that the 611 was back, but we unfortunately missed it by a day! It is doing trips elsewhere. All in all, I would recommend visiting this museum, but the membership is NOT worth it. And some displayed were closed when we went. However, I think they may have just been painting. My company loved it!

It was a very nice place to go we enjoyed all of the exhibits the automotive collection was great. I really liked the 1934 dodge brothers school bus It was very interesting. They have a lot of model trains. The restored locomotives were very nice. They even have an airplane exhibit.

This is a nice museum however it is overpriced for what you get. At the St. Louis transport museum you can climb in the locomotives. Not here. If it were more hands on would be a five star as they have some awesome stuff. UPDATE Also this has now gone down to a 2 star review. An employee threw something at my drone while I was simply trying to document some of the work going on the 611. I live right behind the museum and had clear line of sight with my drone and was fully following the FAA rules. It is also a federal crime to attempt to destroy or hurt an aircraft which a drone is. If I was in charge of the 611, I would be proud to have people try to photograph and video tape it. Not try to destroy their camera.

The Mill Mountain Star is a prominent and iconic landmark overlooking the city of Roanoke, Virginia. This neon-lit star stands at an impressive 100 feet and is a regional cultural symbol that attracts many visitors to the area. Perched on top of Mill Mountain, this location offers magnificent views of the city and surrounding natural landscape. It provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, walking or simply taking in the beautiful scenery.
The view here is incredible! It is a great place to get a quick bit of exercise (especially if you’re like me, and enjoy shorter hikes)! Thankfully the area is kept clean of trash and green with vibrant, beautiful nature aspects! I highly recommend a trip here if you’re visiting the area or simply have never been before. Whether it’s simply for the walk, photogenic properties, or to enjoy the surroundings this is a must-see location for residents and visitors alike!

The star is one of the best and oldest attractions in the area, drawing visitors who are locals as well as tourists/visitors to our city. You can't beat the view of the valley, and the overlooks are perfect for capturing those gorgeous views. The playground has picnic tables next to it for a perfect spot to enjoy lunch while the kids have their own little adventures climbing, sliding, and making their way through the tunnel.
The star and overlooks are free, as well as parking, making it an excellent choice for a weekend afternoon family outing or picnic.

I've driven by the Star on many drives through Roanoke...and finally made a trip with a friend recently; worth it! I would like to see it after dark, but seein the urban sprawl of the city, mixed with the mountain views was spectacular during the day.
There is no cost to drive up to the overlook, and not much of a walk to the monument. Park area is clean and well maintained, with historical and informational signage.
Definitely a great place to spend the day...there are other attractions nearby, including but not limited to the zoo, the discovery center, and hiking trails.

The Mill Mountain Star is a historical landmark in Roanoke. The view of the valley is spectacular. It has two overlooks, and walking trails. It's also in the same vicinity of the zoo (didn't visit due to time constraints), but we did take a little walk along one of the paved trails. I'd say that it's a 'must visit' spot if you are visiting the Roanoke area. (and it's free!)

If you are an outdoor person and/or have a dog, this is a great place to go. The view is outstanding and the air feels crisp and clean. There are trails and paths to walk. Some of the trails are difficult (rocks and grade), but the paths are paved and easy to walk. From the parking lot to the star is an easy path. Worth the short drive up there.

Panoramic views of the Roanoke Valley from several overlooks. Also a zoo, small park and Discovery Center - all in the shadow of the world's largest man-made star. Only the zoo has an admission fee.

We've been walking here in the evenings for a little exercise. Nice paved paths by star and zoo. Interesting trails through woods, rocky in places but well worn paths.

Our family enjoyed the view! The mountain biking was fun. When I walked our dog on the trail below the Star, we were greeted with so much broken glass. I thought it would be okay once I got into the forest area, but there was broken glass along the entire trail. I had to carry out dog. Bummer!

The view from Mill Mountain was great even though the weather was not so great! Even with limited visibility and rain on our heels we were still able take in a pretty nice view from the vantage point at the base of the star.
From what I could see the trails were nice(at the beginning at least)wish the weather was nicer so we could have meandered about for awhile.
The restrooms…well…for guys I hope you don’t have IBS or another sensitive tummy issue. Ladies I would just hold it seriously! It’s not worth it!

Magnificent place! It's a beautiful area to stop and relax and take in the breath taking view of Roanoke and the Blue Ridge Mountains. I HIGHLY recommend a stop here!
Kim W. — Google review
What a beautiful stop this was. It's located on the Blue Ridge Mountain Road. The breath taking view looked over Roanoke. I bet it's beautiful at night! I hear the star lights up, too. They have a trail you can hike with your four-legged friends. They even offer a little dispenser of doggie poop bags. The dogwood trees were in bloom. The surrounding foliage is lush and green.
Bathrooms are also provided. The main road takes you for a scenic drive.

This landmark is impressive and the views are amazing. At night it is very grand to see the star fully illuminated. Access is restricted after 11pm.
There is a pavilion to picnic under as well as a playground for children in the park. A beautiful garden is well maintained and a free discovery center holds information about the local geography and animals.
There is also a small zoo on Mill Mountain which can be visited for a fee. There is a miniature train you can purchase tickets to ride on and see the perimeter of the zoo. With the train tickets and entry for 4 adults and 2 children the cost was less than $100. The zoo closes prior to the park closing, so check hours ahead of time.

Great thing to see up close after seeing it from below. The Roanoke Star, also known as the Mill Mountain Star, is the world's largest freestanding illuminated man-made star. It is just a short walk to the front side of the star. There is a nice platform that overlooks Roanoke for great viewing of the city below, but also with enough room to turn around and get a picture of the giant star. It was cold and starting to get dark, there were only 2-3 cars at any point. There looked to be nice restrooms but didn't go check them out.

A marvelous view! A wonderful spot to go anytime of the day but I recommend going at night. I took my daughter and we had an absolutely amazing time! Very easy to get to. Not a far walk at all to the lookout. The lookout itself is outstanding! The star is truly a marvel. I highly recommend this for a family outing. I will be back here again and again!

This will always be one of my favorite places in the valley! We can see it from a window in our house which is a really sweet bonus! The views are breathtaking and it's always clean no matter how many guests are on the platform. A favorite for us is to visit in December and see all the pockets of lights!

The Mill Star is usually all white except for patriotic holidays. GPS brings you to the bottom of the site. You need to keep driving until you see the entrance to the park. The view of the city from the lookout is amazing.
