An absolutely unreal experience. One of the most beautiful views I’ve seen of the ocean AND drinking wine at the same time! Staff was so knowledgeable and kind! We did a wine tasting and all were very good. We will definitely be coming here every time we’re in the area! We bought a bottle and took it on an ocean picnic right after.

Awesome setting! Plan on staying for a bit if the weather is fair. Good wine, was surprised by the red blends, took home a few to share with friends. Awesome, friendly staff. Will definitely frequent when in the area. A nice short jaunt from mendocino/Ft Bragg

Great, relaxing winery! The owners were very hospitable and we all had great conversations! Plenty of seating. The view was outstanding despite the rain. The property is gorgeous! I can't say enough. Bought a bottle of Dad's Red and plan to enjoy a good meal with it!

Unpretentious, yet in a place so beautiful and perfect. The view are just super natural, the space is great, the service is first class and the wine is good. They allow people to bring food and use the table which are spread all over the property. The tasting is $14 for 5 wines. This is the way wine tasting should be, and I appreciate it that about the place. This is a must stop when rolling up or down the famous Highway 1!

A must stop at this small family winery. The way wine tasting should be, not pretentious, not over priced, great wines, friendly service, AMAZING location. Take in the incredible views with a glass of wine. Oh heck, get a bottle and walk the grounds. The owners are lovely!

We haven't been here in years but it's worth the drive up. Bring some snacks as you sample their wines and stay with friends to enjoy the view. The wine is delicious we love their reds. This go around we brought kids and kept them entertained. The bluff filled views are breathe taking.

Incredible winery location sitting right over the ocean! It was a cloudy day when we visited but it was still beautiful! Would love to visit in the summer! Wine was very tasty and the owners were very friendly!
Stephanie B — Google review
What a beautiful place! Stunning!
But, as soon as we entered the parking space signs are everywhere no dogs allowed. As soon as we met hostesses had to listen to the rules how we must contain our children. Don’t get me wrong, staff was super friendly and nice. We still enjoyed our time.
But such a big the space is so waisted! Make it family, pet friendly! Invite bands to play. You could be so much more!

After leaving Napa, we wanted to try a winery along the coast. Pacific Star was great not for their wines but more for their property and views. It's a great laid-back place to have several glasses of wine and move around to different sitting areas for the views. Had so much fun here. Would definitely recommend it for a fun experience.

Title: Pacific Star Winery: Where Vines Meet the Ocean Waves
Review:
Imagine sipping on a glass of exquisite wine, with the Pacific Ocean as your backdrop and a gentle sea breeze tousling your hair. Sounds dreamy, right? That's the magic of Pacific Star Winery, Fort Bragg's coastal gem.
Tucked away on California's scenic Route 1, this winery is so much more than just a place to sample great wines. It's an experience. From the moment you arrive, the panoramic ocean views set the stage for a day of relaxation and indulgence. And if you're a nature enthusiast, keep your binoculars handy! Depending on the season, you might catch a glimpse of majestic whales breaching and dancing on the horizon.
While the wines are undoubtedly the stars here, the outdoor seating adds another layer of charm. Benches are thoughtfully placed, offering visitors the opportunity to set up a quaint picnic while basking in the coastal ambiance. And if you happen to visit on one of their special event days, the live music perfectly complements the setting, enhancing the already vibrant atmosphere.
However, a word to the wise – Fort Bragg's coastal climate can be unpredictable. So, layer up, bring that cozy scarf, and be prepared for anything Mother Nature throws your way. Embrace the experience, come rain or shine.
Lastly, the journey to Pacific Star is an adventure in itself, with winding roads that demand careful navigation. So while it's tempting to indulge, always remember to drink responsibly.
In essence, Pacific Star Winery is a harmonious blend of nature, music, and exceptional wine. It's a slice of coastal paradise where every sip feels like a toast to the beauty of the Pacific. Cheers to an unforgettable experience! 🍷🌊🐋🎶🌟

Loved visiting here! Saw a sign that said “Tasting” and couldn’t resist. It was a beautiful place and had 5 delightful wines on the tasting when I stopped. It was a random, impromptu detour on my traveling along HWY 1 and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. The gift shop is adorable (and affordable) and the staff was very kind and knowledgeable of the wines, making sure to explain them when pouring the tastings. The seating area was very spacious and has a gorgeous view overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I visited for over an hour and was so thrilled, in fact, I purchased 2 bottles of their Charbono and thoroughly enjoyed every glass.

I discovered this gem and first met Sally about 23 years ago and it is always a treat to return. Such a lovely setting with nice wines. We visited over the weekend before the 4th and it was quite busy. We had a nice picnic packed, which was enjoyed by the bluffs. I travel everywhere with my registered service dog and though he enjoyed a nap under the picnic table, I try to support more dog friendly businesses. I was surprised to see they are not dog friendly. We will be back soon when on the Mendocino coast!

I'm not sure if I met the owners or not but I'm pretty sure it was them, he loved my girlfriends "mismatched" converse and he had on glow in the dark converse! The wine tasting was a great experience. The customer service here is on point and I love the warm and positive vibes the owners/employees have. You FEEL happy just being within their presence.
The views are gorgeous and the ambience and atmosphere of the location and environment just makes this winery so worth going. My girlfriend and I had a great time here, will definitely come back to visit again next year (since I'm moving away for a year temporarily T_T). Thank you Pacific Star Winery, it was definitely a highlight for my partner and I.
MacKerricher State Park is a beautiful natural area located on Highway 1, three miles north of Fort Bragg. It offers rocky beaches for hiking and seal-watching, woodlands for camping, and wetlands filled with birds. The park's diverse habitats are home to a variety of wildlife including black-tailed deer, raccoons, gray foxes, mountain lions, mallards, cormorants and herons.
Beautiful!!! Great place to walk and contemplate nature. We got to see the sea creatures have fun in the water. When we went it was kinda cold so would definitely recommend a sweater. :)

Great place to visit, definitely my calm place. Parts of the beach isn't too over crowded with people so it's perfect to wine down and watch the waves. Also, the tide pool is amazing! Got to save a starfish without touching it ofcourse! It was stranded on a rock in the hot sun but was able to move the rock it was on and placed it in a shady spot in the water! I recommend to anyone that visits, also make sure to visit the visitors center. They got some interesting things, you will not be disappointed!

Great place to stay. They got hit hard this winter and a majority of the park was closed for clean up. We got a nice site. We were like the only ones in the park. The State site showed it full but we checked in with them on way into the area to learn they had openings! Clean bathrooms and coin operated showers.

Beautiful beach beautiful walkway. Sat with two nuns at the end of the boardwalk as we watch the Tide roll over the rocks great conversation early mornings are best in the winter

Beautiful grounds, a well paved path. Great for tide pool viewing, or walk along the beach that seems to go on forever north. Bathrooms are available at the visitor center and a few at the campgrounds. Campgrounds are nice and inexpensive. I took my family of 6 there manys times, my kids love it there.

We enjoyed a very nice afternoon sitting on the beach and playing in the surf. Folks were flying kites, dogs were having fun running around, and the birds were curious.
The old logging haul road is available for walking and biking. There are horse trails around the area also.

Beautiful spot, and worth visiting. There's a built in boardwalk that, albeit short, makes for a pretty walk. You can stop and overlook the ocean and if you're lucky, see seals lounging on the rocks. And a gorgeous trail/path that's curves along the coast, providing amazing views the whole way.

Beautiful wooded campground. No hookups but has nice bathrooms with showers. Awesome trails to the beach and wildlife viewing.

Stayed at Surfwood campground and it was great. We could hear the ocean waves at our site #113 and #108. Most sites are large we have a 34 foot motor home and we fit just fine. Sites are on grass so you may have to level. You can hike, bike and watch the seals on the rocks. A beautiful place

Great camping place, lots of places to hike and use bikes/ scooters. Staff are very friendly, we came after hours and host at our west pinewood campground was very friendly to meet us although she was getting ready to go to sleep.

One of the best State Park California has to offer. There is hiking, walking paths and of course the beautiful Black Sand Beach. The camping sites are big and includes a fire pit with small half grill. The bathroom is nice and clean. The shower are nice and are quarter operated, the entire park staff was friendly and full of useful information about the surrounding area. The of the best parts was getting to see all the different wildlife including deer, birds and of course the late night visitors like racoon and skunks.
The best place to get firewood was a lady right off the hwy 1. It's a small house with huge piles of firewood out front. It's approximately 3-5 minutes from the entrance to the state park. Leaving the park the house will be on the right side of the road.
I highly recommend this park for anyone looking for amazing coastal camping

We have camped here every October for the last 4 years. Love it here! Quiet, peaceful, quick walk to the beach.
The bathrooms could be a little cleaner.

We reserved a disabled RV site with a distant view of the ocean, which was walking distance by foot, wheelchair or walker. Close to nice bathrooms and showers. Beautiful flat boardwalk around the ocean and back through grasslands. Picnic tables and sandy beach. Public parking and bathrooms nearby. Dogs are l
Allowed on a leash. We only wish the park had RV hookups.

Nice beach ⛱️ and a wooden walkway with benches to Wale Watching 👀
Also a wooden staircase to the tide pools 🦀

Awesome park that I've always driven by. It offers great views of the ocean and seals, with free day use. Glad I finally checked it out.

Beautiful beach. It was a very nice place to walk. I Loved seeing the squirrels. Although please don't feed the wildlife, it's very prevalent that the population of birds is affecting sea life
when viewing the tide pools. There still a lot of different types of crabs other types of sea creatures although we sadly didn't see any star fish. It's a great place to see seals though.

If you are in Fort Bragg definitely take time to hit the beaches - all of them. It's beautiful and soul sitting to be that near the ocean and feel the power of it. Northern Cali has some of my favorite water / beaches. Most of the time you will not see another person. Great hiking along the bluffs too. Go revive your inner sanctuary with a visit.

An exceptionally beautiful state park that is well maintained and cleaned. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. There are bathroom and shower facilities open to those camping here.
Make sure to bring layers as the mornings and evenings can get a bit chilly. Also note that you will need to pay to park here. If you are camping here each additional vehicle has an extra charge.
This destination is absolutely worth the drive and detour. The views and serenity are incomparable.

Mendocino Headlands State Park is a beautiful 7,400-acre wildlife corridor that surrounds Mendocino Village on three sides. The park offers stunning ocean views, easy access to trails and secluded beaches. Hiking the trails around Mendocino Village is an easy way to get a sense of the beauty of this area.
Lovely bluff trails that follow near the road and pinnacle trails out that allow for views of the imposing but beautiful coastline. Maybe a 2 mile bluff walk round trip. Accessible for the whole family but not wheelchair accessible unless you stay to the road. It is often windy and can be cold - bring a windbreaker and thermal layer if you are prone to get cold!

Absolutely incredible breathtaking views and a very easy hike that my husband and I were able to enjoy with our pup. Highly recommend this trail for visitors. The trail ends near housing that you can follow into the main town. Such a quaint cute little town. We were so happy about it

Worth the drive alone. It can add just a few extra minutes to get into Mendo, but I opt for this route every time. The views are just beautiful, and if you have time, you can park at one of the many spots available for parking and walk along the headlands.

The Mendocino Headlands State Park is okay. Went in here to catch the sun set. There were only a few vehicles parked at the various vista spots in the park.
You have to trek some distance to reach the actual beach. Good views. But the lack of signs really marred the whole experience.

Great place to walk and get some fresh ocean breezes. I would be careful with small kids and pets as there are plenty of cliffs with no barriers.

You can really see why the headlands mendocino state park is here. It's right where the area surrounding it leads to, then head out to the headlands. The ocean stops, or starts if that's where you are, as the headlands stop, or begin. Right here.
Very beautiful, easy, flat trails and headlands.

This is an amazing park. Easy parking, walkable from downtown Mendocino, gorgeous views, dog friendly. I wore hiking boots and glad I did because we wanted to walk along the optional rocky edge. You can make the walk easy by going just to a couple of the outcrops. Then you can make it a little challenging and take some standy uneven stairs down to the sandy beach (you have to take them back up too) or you can turn right and walk more rocky elevated terrain for more amazing, unobstructed views.
Sheri Green — Google review
We have been coming here for many years. This place is simply wonderful - trails along the cliffs, fantastic views of the ocean where you sometimes can spot gray whales or humpbacks. An abundance of wildflowers in the spring. You can walk shorter or longer loops. Dress warmly because it's windy.

Loved here for 10 years now and have no regrets. It’s always beautiful. So much to see and do that in nature and feels so refreshing. Great sunsets and wonderful on sunny days.
Amber Nelson — Google review
Great disappointment as there is scant improvements to the walkway and no way to get to the beach. And to top it off there is hardly any sea glass. Not worth the trip. Although it is a rugged coastline and the view is pretty.
The history of the Mendocino village is closely intertwined with that of the Mendocino Art Center, which opened its doors in 1959. This creative hub brought new life to the sleepy coastal town and quickly gained international recognition. The former Preston mansion, located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, provided an idyllic setting for artists-in-residence and professional instructors who hosted over 150 annual workshops in ceramics, sculpture and fine art.
Comfortable and casual art gallery. No pressure. I did leave a modest donation. The artists that created this center revitalized the village of Mendocino after the lumber industry left.
Paul Blackwell — Google review
The art center is a main stay of the Mendocino community. Walk from the Main Street a few blocks and you’re in art heaven. We got a wonderful tour from one of the kind and knowledgeable artists in residence. There ceramics department does classes on all different firing techniques including raku, soda, and wood firings. Will definitely be back for some classes.
Alex Unger — Google review
Always a lot of great art. Lots of workshops where you can learn anything from ceramics, jewery making, painting etc. I am disappointed that you need proof of vacc. to take the workshops now as you can still get/ transmit even with it!
Diane Broome — Google review
I started my experience at the art center with small talk at Moody’s organic coffee with an artist in residence, Karina Mago. I really felt a desire to see her work, and then the art center had an event that I couldn’t miss. I saw Karina immediately and as fast fell in love with her work, her intricate exploration of clay structure, form and surface.
Somehow, a spark of my own stirred me to take Vince Petelka’s handbuilding workshop and I was hooked. The Art Center is a well organized and well lighted place. Ian Hazard has the studio so well organized and maintains excellent communication and is a plethora of information about clay, tools, artists, schools, firing types, glazes and business. I’m not patronizing; he really is a hero.
The selection of artists in residence is also sensational. I want to throw Kudos to Austyn Taylor, Myung Ahn, and Lauren Stanford.
Now I rent a shelf and I’m bringing Star Dog into the world of ceramics. Star Dog was created in 1979, but was stuck into a 2D world until Mendocino Art Center 2019!!

I'll never travel to Healdsburg without this trip planner again
The Point Arena Lighthouse is a renowned attraction situated on a rural road off Highway 1. This historical landmark, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, is the tallest lighthouse on the entire Pacific Coast. The lighthouse has significance dating back to 1908 when it was reconstructed after being destroyed by an earthquake in 1906. Its newly renovated cottages provide lodging facilities while daily tours and museum visits are available for tourists who pay to enter its premises.
One of the many lighthouse still on the California coast, Point Arena has been for in films such as Need for Speed. Despite it's Hollywood fame, the lighthouse and the grounds are a worth while stop if on the cost. You are able to go into the lighthouse on tours which offers some amazing high level views of the area. The staircase to the top is the classic spiral design you see in classic photos of lighthouse keepers maintaining the light.
The drive to the lighthouse is fun and offers some great picture opportunities of the coast and possibly to take pictures of your car along the coast.
Adam Cook — Google review
It is worth $10 per person to go on the tour and be able to go up to the top of the lighthouse. I can check that off my bucket list. Everyone was extremely nice and very informative at the history of the lighthouse as well as the surrounding area. The views are amazing and plenty of things to buy in their fully stocked gift shop.
Jon Osborn — Google review
The rooms were very clean and the views were amazing. The staff that worked at the lighthouse were very attentive and helpful. We did the lighthouse tour and the view was amazing from up top. The only thing we didn't like about the room is for a place that is all about the outdoors there is very little to do outside of seeing the lighthouse. We stayed the required two nights and it would have been nice if they had some outdoor games set up like horseshoes, cornhole, or something of the sort. When you are traveling with young kids, it is tough to keep them occupied on view alone. There is also no beach access available that we saw so we couldn't take them to put their feet in the water.
Andrew Beglin — Google review
The lighthouse is under the care of a private society. For $5 donation, you can get to the top of the Lighthouse. The view there is a spectacular, sweeping view of the entire ocean. The staffs at the museum/shop, also the volunteers doing the tour, are very nice and informative.

Point Arena Lighthouse is located in Mendocino County near Point Arena, California. The lighthouse was constructed in 1870. The lighthouse grounds features a small museum, giftshop, and accommodations if you're interested in staying night. They provide guided tours of the light station as well as self-guided tours of the grounds daily.
The Point Arena Lighthouse is listed as a National Monument!
We arrived just after the lighthouse closed for the day at 3:30 pm.

Really cool stop on motorcycle trip. Lighthouse isn’t operational, but a museum and tourist spot. We paid the donation to climb to the top and could see whales in the bay. Very cool history and old staff quarters have been changed into rooms for rent

We visited the Point Area Lighthouse on a weekday in June 2023. It was nice. We decided not to go inside the lighthouse to get a better view. But we were a little tight on time, so we compromised and visited, but didn't do the inside tour.
Entering the park, they charged people $5 per person just to enter the park. Then they charge you another $5 for the tour of the inside of the lighthouse. So that would be $10 per person total. Although I have no problem paying for the tour. I feel that it's a little nit picky to charge people just to enter the park. But it is what it is.
The light looks in good shape. It takes some decent pictures. And the grounds are good. But I have been to a lot of light houses over the years. I have to admit that I like the lighthouses on the east coast better, especially in New England. But that's just me.
The grounds also has a building with displays and of course, a gift shop for folks wanting souvenirs. They also do have restrooms in its own little building. I guess the other buildings are some kind of inn that you can stay in, but I'm not sure on the particulars.
All in all, the Point Arena Lighthouse is a nice light worth visiting. But I have to admit that I like the view from down the road better with the coast as part of the view or picture. That one is also free.

Damn! Dum! Damn! What an amazing experience to stay at this lighthouse! We've never stayed at a lighthouse before and it was a unique, cherishing and beautoful experience. I would definitely recommend people to consider a short stay here and we would defintely be coming back here for another one.
The lighthouse area is a few miles off the Point Arena city which makes you feel totally secluded on the edge of the coast and the atmosphere is very pristine. The room was comfortable with all the necessary amenities and the view from the window was breathtaking.

The light house visit and tour was well worthwhile. It's amazing that a large, extremely heavy, kerosene fueled, Fresnel lensed lamp has been replaced by a tiny LED light source. The guy that presented the history of the site at the top of the light house was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

This was just a quick stop for us, but I'm happy we took the time to stop. The surrounding area, coastline is breathtaking. We happened to be there on Thanksgiving weekend and it was perfect weather. Hardly any wind and warm.
Great location for family photos for the Christmas card!! Wish we would have had time to visit the lighthouse itself and the gift shop. Maybe next time!

Was a fun and unique place to visit. We initially paid to visit just the land for the ocean views but ended up purchasing tickets to walk up to the top of the lighthouse in the gift shop. We arrived during one part of the tour where they gave insight into the history of the lighthouse as well as facts about the lighthouse itself. Once completing that part of the tour we then proceeded to walk up to the top of the lighthouse. It is a long walk up with many steps but there were places you could stop and rest for momentarily. There also was a balcony before the top you could go out on to and get views from every direction of the lighthouse. The top was amazing with great views as well. The giftshop was really neat with some cool items as well. We also got to see the Moonlight Day of the Dead Student Art Exhibit & Celebration which was an added plus!

Absolutely worth it to see it!
I would absolutely recommend to go up to the lighthouse! It’s worth the price, especially if you travel for so long to see the Pacific coast! Reward yourself with a gorgeous view and the stunning thundering sound of the waves crashing against the rocks or even the sight of some whales out on the ocean!

Beautiful location with well priced rooms. The lighthouse gift shop and museum are well maintained and very informative.
The rooms themselves show some humidity related damage. However, they're very comfortable! Most nights you'll hear the wind off of the ocean howling against the building. The sound proofing between the rooms isn't the best and we could hear our neighbors talking.

We made a short visit to this lighthouse and came back very impressed with the views and history associated with this lighthouse.
There is a small museum and gift shop where one gets to know about the importance and rich history of this lighthouse and how the technology of sending light beams and signals to seafarers kept on changing with time. Some of the old machinery and other interesting memorabilia is kept in this place and one can buy some relevant gifts.
We went up the 145 steps of the lighthouse and were rewarded with spectacular views all round. We could see many species of birds and seals during our visit. On other days, people have been lucky to see whales, dolphins and other marine life.
There is ample parking space and clean toilets for convenience.
All in all an interesting place to visit!

California coastline is so beautiful and if you can get it on a day when it's not too cold and the wind is light it's absolutely stunning. The lighthouse has such a cool history it's so neat to look at all the old pictures and you can actually Tour all the way up.

Great experience climbing up the lighthouse. Definitely worth it, but I wish it was a sunny day so that I could see further. It was a rainy day, so the waves were very active.

Possibly one of the best getaways in Northern California! I spent three nights in the Keeper's Room and wished I could stay a whole week. The views are breathtakingly beautiful, even from the bedrooms. The only sound I heard in my room
was the sound of the crashing waves outside. It's like the romantic ideal of staying at a lighthouse. I didn't see any whales or even Mina the cat, but I did see plenty of interesting water fowl.
The people who work there are extremely friendly and helpful and of course, the lighthouse and small but incredibly informative and well done museum behind the gift shop are fascinating. Good food and more NorCal friendliness can be found in town, just a short drive away.

I just visit museum and the top of the lighthouse, tour guides are kind, polite, patient and the most important knowledgeable. Also need to mention the main gate ticket seller lady is also very kind, I enjoyed the quick 20 min tour on that specific weather condition, the lighthouse and around stories was epic, I will come back for a few days summer time stay. 145 steps to top but, don’t worry there are four stop levels.
Mendocino County Museum is a captivating community museum that offers an excellent historical context of the lives of early settlers through old letters and various artifacts. Visitors can explore Pomo and Yuki basketry, learn about local scandals, countercultural movements, and even step into a 1920s soda fountain and barber shop. The museum is located in the picturesque Victorian villages of Mendocino County, surrounded by stunning coastlines, vineyards, and redwood forests.
We love the museum! It is lovely to see their new showings a we always appreciate when the Roots of Motive Power has train rides available, like today.

Great experience. The gadget display where you could touch the gadgets was fantastic, and the hands-on room where you could use some of the gadgets and also make crafts was even better.

Nice local museum detailing life around Mendocino county. 4 dollars for adults and q dollar for kids is pretty fair. The 50s lunch counter exhibit is a true blast from the past. My kids got a little bored after 10 mins though. Kids!

B Bryan Preserve is a unique sanctuary located on the southern Mendocino coast, where Frank and Judy Mello have established an African savannah experience. The preserve is dedicated to the conservation and breeding of endangered African hoof stock, including Roan, Sable, Greater Kudu Antelope, Grevys and Hartmanns Mountain Zebra, and Rothschilds Giraffe. Visitors can take guided tours to feed and observe these majestic animals in their natural habitat.
Had a wonderful time on a recent self-guided car tour. We had been past the property several times trying to spot zebra and the giraffes from the road, but finally made a reservation to see the animals up close. It is a relatively short drive around the property to see the animals in each enclosure, but with only one other car on the day we were there, we did not rush, and took all the pictures we wanted. The highlight was the chance to feed a giraffe at the last stop, which is the only time you are allowed out of your car. The keeper was very friendly and knowledgeable, and answered all the questions we had about the animals and the property in general. Spent about 45 minutes at the preserve, after a 40 mile trip from Fort Bragg, but would not be surprised if we stopped in on our next visit to this part of the CA coast.

A little gem on the coast. We hopped in a range rover with a few others and toured the grounds to meet the animals. Our guide Sierra was knowledgeable about the animals and conservation needs. There were 3 types of zebra, several antelope and giraffes. At the end we fed Moxie the giraffe. Apparently the giraffes can be trained for vet care and also painting sessions. If we come back this way, I'd like to paint with them. If you're in the area take the time to support their efforts. Highly recommend the guided tour.

This place is an absolute gem! The staff is extremely informative and kind. I highly recommend staying in one of the cabins! Each one has a theme, and every item in the cabin has thought put into it. You can tell the owners have put their heart into growing this preserve.

The whole family loved B Bryan Preserve.
We stayed in the Bridge Cottage and loved it. The decor with antellopes was nice and the hot tub was awesome. We need to come back in the spring or summer as sunset was fairly early when we went limiting our usage.
The highlight of the trip was feeding the giraffes on the tour. You get a sizable discount if you stay there. Our toddler was beaming ear to ear and couldn't stop talking about it for a week saying "feed giraffe lettuce".
The owners and staff are good people and are doing a lot for the conservation of the animals. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the area, it was about a 50 minute drive down from Mendocino.

A nice place to visit when you are in Mendocino. Its a great work done by these people to preserve Giraffe Zebra and Antelopes. A nicely developed place. While taking the trip of the Preserve, it is very well explained by the volunteers/staff of the Preserve. They also give the opportunity to feed Giraffes. A real good project with excellent purpose. Best wishes,

I recommend the Range Rover tour. It is a bit bumpy for a short distance so take that into consideration when booking older folks. The Staff are very informed and educated about their animals. The animals are extremely well cared for here.

It was an amazing stay. Myself, my sister, and our two daughters. The cabins are so great. Cozy little cabins tucked away and on a lake with a great wrap around deck and hot tub. The cabins are fantastically built and have a lot of cool details that you don't see anymore. They are really cute and well put together. Great little wood burning stove to keep you warm. Mini fridge, microwave, electric stove \ oven and full compliment of dishes and utensils. They have barn cats that wander around the property and we adopted Amos for the weekend. He came right to us when we called to him and slept in the bed with the two girls and was happy as could be just chilling on a cushion and being pet. He has 7 toes on his paws which is really cool, and he's just the sweetest cat ever. It made our whole weekend to have a cat to hang out with. The tour is really great, they take you around in land rovers and show all the animals to you. At night the Giraffes roam the grounds and they come so close to the cabins, it's just magical. We were sitting in the hot tub and there were giraffes just a 100 ft away from us. I loved every minute of the stay. If it's raining just bring shoes that can get muddy, the grounds may be a little muddy around the parking area. I can't recommend this place more. It's such a great place to spend a weekend.

Cottage & Tour both Awesome
We stayed at Zebra cottage and it fit 3 nicely. Everyone in our travel party loved it! We loved the zebra themed decorations & the outdoor hot tub! The cottage had a very comfy king size bed that my daughter loved. Kitchen was well equipped and came with a fridge, microwave & oven.
On the day of our tour it was rainy and the giraffes went hiding into their barn. We therefore got a rare chance to get up to eye level with giraffes and fed them! When did you ever get a chance to look into giraffes into their eyes?
They did a lot of conservation work here and provided a nice place for Zoo animals to retire. Worth a visit!

Kids had a blast touring the preserve and learning about the animals on site. 3 kinds of zebras, kudu, giraffes, roan. Tons of information, knowledgeable staff, and the vintage range rovers made this an unforgettable stop on our coast trip.

The preserve is well-managed and well-maintained.
When we were there, on a weekday, we were the only ones on a tour. In the driving tour, you don’t get out of your car until you get to the giraffes. If you have purchased lettuce from the office, you can feed the giraffes. you are chaperoned closely for this activity.

We absolutely loved our stay at B. Bryan Preserve. We stayed in the bridge cottage and it was absolutely perfect. The view of the giraffes was our favorite part! Every single staff member we met was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. It is obvious they love all of the animals and truly want the best for them. The tour was very informative and we learned many new things. If you’re in the area, B. Bryan Preserve is a must visit!

For anyone seeking a very special unique experience on the California coast that is a hidden gem of beautiful animals and great people, visit B. Bryan Preserve. They care for some of the most beautiful African animals and have created an environment for preservation and fun education. They have at least 3 species of Zebra in addition to species of antelope and 4 of the most handsome giraffe, the tallest at over 18 feet tall.
There are multiple tour options but the most immersive private tour will bring you face to face with zebra and giraffe….it is well worth it to have such a personal experience. It should be on your bucket list!
On site are also the coziest cottages with incredible vintage design, very comfortable furnishings and a view of the giraffe paddock. We went outside to walk to downtown for breakfast (a very short walk, about 10 minutes) to find 3 of the giraffe munching away on some tall branches in the morning sun. Very cool.
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, warm, kind and informative. They welcome all of your questions and address them with kindness and a wealth of knowledge.
If you want to plan a special trip, B. Bryan Preserve is worth it. It will create lifelong memories while helping an incredibly organization that relies on guests to fund its mission. It’s a win-win for everyone.
Special thanks to our guide Sierra for giving us such an amazing experience to cherish!

Glad they are helping the animals for sure... but this is just a small zoo-like place, not a safari-like experience...did the guided tour and Logan was great!... my wife and I enjoyed it, but our kids (ages 4 and 7) lost interest easily.

Amazing views and beautiful animals. The animals are very well kept and have lots of room for roaming. The views are so great and the employees are very helpful. Tours are great and give lots of helpful information. When you go on the tour make sure to wear clothes that are okay to get dusty, it can be very dusty while riding in the safari cars. It feels like you are in the African plains when on the tour. The gift shop is very nice. Incredible place.

Did not stay here even though that was an option to do so. The place was great, we did a tour which was about an hour. we were able to get out of the land rovers that transported us through the compound to see the animals up close. But at a safe distance. You'll have an opportunity to see them up close because they give the animals treats to show up by the fence. The main attraction is the giraffes because at the end of the tour, you get to feed the giraffes they will lean down to you to grab the cabbage from your hand.

The BEST preserve I've been to! The staff is insanely knowledgeable about their species. You can tell they take the absolute best care of their animals and are working towards conserving precious species daily. I loved going on the tour and learning about different African hoofstock species and their cool adaptations. They have all 3 species of zebra and Nubian giraffe! Please visit if you can, it's so worth every second!

We went yesterday for a birthday/family outing event and did the VIP tour with Megan as our guide and animal caretaker. She did an amazing job and showed our somewhat chaotic and large family the utmost patience, respect and knowledge. She answered all of our questions and made our experience one that I will never forget. I hope to come back again one day and do the tour again and see all of the animals.
In terms of the animals, they all seemed happy, healthy and content with their lives. I think it speaks volumes that a deer has chosen to stay because they take such good care of their animals. The B. Bryan reserve gives them the life they deserve and need, and dignity while spreading awareness/raising money for some very important causes.
Handley Cellars is a must-visit destination on Northern California's scenic Highway 128. What a fantastic spot! The wine was pretty good, but honestly, it was the views and overall experience that blew me away! The staff are quite friendly and knowledgeable about the wines that they sell. Highly recommend! FYI: they do not sell food/snacks, so come prepared!

I’m giving this 4 stars because I know they can be a 5 if the service was better. The first time my husband and I went, the tasting room manager was attentive and full of stories about the vineyard and wine. He offered ones off the tasting menu and really made us feel like a part of the story. Since then (2019), the service has been mediocre at best which is really unfortunate because the wine is spectacular. To us, the relational component makes a difference in what we buy.

Navarro Vineyards & Winery is a family-owned business that has been growing grapes and creating wine in Anderson Valley since 1974. Despite their limited production, visitors can enjoy complimentary tastings of their Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Pinot Blancs at the winery. The place also offers non-alcoholic grape juices made from their own Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer grapes.
Beautiful! Lambs are adorable! Love that they let dogs in too. A bit cold outside, but glad they are working to keeping people at a safe distance. There was 1 lady doing tasting to 5 tables with one of the tables being a big party. Me being a party of 1, took a bit longer to get some tasting. Wine was very delicious, I'm not a big fan of dry wine, but their's was very tasty. Overall it's a very nice place to go tasting, everyone was so friendly and very knowledgeable! Purchased a couple bottles of their sweet blanc, would definitely order from here in the future!!

Dog friendly, lots of shade on upper and lower patios, and many Adirondack chairs with umbrellas on the edge of the vineyards with a view of the hills. Very friendly and courteous staff. There were a few tasting options and that also depended on where you sat. We did not make reservations but were able to walk in and have an outdoor table. Not sure if this is new protocol since the last time we visited but we were not able to walk the property until after our tasting. Not sure if that changes but it would have been nice to walk around. The wines are delicious. Full reds and one of my favorite Rieslings.

This beautiful state park located in Mendocino County features virgin redwood trees and stunning hiking trails. It's a great place to enjoy nature, and the swimming in the Navarro River is a bonus.
Beautiful campsite tucked away in Philo, close to wineries and apple cider. The campsites all have plenty of space, bathrooms were fine, each site had a fire ring, table and shed for wood. I came during the week in June and there were a lot of kids, but it wasn’t packed. When I arrived, there was an option to buy firewood after checking in which was such a relief! Would absolutely stay here again.

Most gorgeous campground I've ever been to. We had another camping trip booked two months from now in another city and my husband had me cancel that so we could re-book at Hendywoods. We stayed at campsite 19 and it was definitely one of the largest and most beautiful campsites in the Azalea loop, in my opinion which I initially reserved based on similar reviews from others. We fit our Silverado and 18 ft travel trailer with room to spare. Park staff is very friendly, the woman upon check in even gave our dog a dog treat :-) Newer updated bathroom next to site 3 and the other bathroom is directly across from site 18. There are water spigots every 2-3 sites or so. There is a dump station free of charge if you're a registered camper. We use solar panels for our trailer and most sites are really shady because of the tall trees everywhere however we did get enough rays here and there for our solar to keep us charged up. This campground is definitely going on our camping rotation list. You will love it.

Thanks to the 4th Grader Adventure Pass, we went explore this state park during spring break. The visitor center was closed in March. We wished they could offer little ranger program. The gold of California is gone but the red woods preserved.

Can’t say enough great things about this California state park. Camp host at our site was super sweet and the Rangers were very informative and accommodating. The redwoods are stunning and there are trails for everyone whether a short hike, a bike, handicap accessible or a full on backpacking trip. There is nothing more AMAZING then standing inside the trunk of a redwood tree. Look out for the Henry Hermit , really cool story that goes along with that!!

Quiet but great camping place! Not far from town so you even have cellphone signals, with camp host to help out if needed. A lot of interesting things to discover and appreciate along the way (but leave them alone), like the giant trees and the small mushrooms.

This place is beautiful and can be an amazing weekend getaway. The park itself is very small with small hikes but the nearby areas are very nice. The apple farm where you can taste different kinds of apples, a cider tasting and few wineries in the Anderson valley. You can do trips to Mendocino coast for the day or go to Ukiah, over the hills with beautiful views of the valley. The cabins here in the park are very basic with just a small fireplace. They sell the firewood pack and you would need one pack per night. The Navarro river runs low after summer and it will be good for a spring visit. The camp host and the people here are very friendly. There are a couple of chargers provided by Rivian for electric cars.
The restrooms here are clean and have hot water you can get with quarters.
The nearby town of Booneville has few food options and they are very nice.

I’ve been camping and visiting Hendy Woods since 2007. Despite it not being the most remote campground it is one of my favorite places to camp. Whether you’re an avid camper, or not, this place is for everyone. The forest is beautiful and the Navarro river is great. Plus being in Anderson Valley is nice too with the Pacific just a short drive away.

Hendy Woods State Park is a hidden gem off the 128 between Hwy 1 and Hwy 101. The 128 has lots of curves, vineyards with wine tasting and a couple of apple orchards with cider tasting. We camped in the Wildcat loop of the campground, which was beautiful and quiet. Campsite 53 was large, level with plenty of space between neighbors. We hiked Big Hendy Grove and Hermit Hut Trail among the redwoods. Peaceful trails with trailheads right in the campground. Bella enjoyed swimming in the Navarro River near the day use area. Highly recommended state park.

I didn’t plan on stopping in, but glad I did! This is a great little campground and hiking area through the redwoods! These trees are massive and inspiring. Also, make sure you go to the hermit trail. There used to be an old man that lived in the forest and you can see the makeshift house he built.

Five stars isn't even enough to do justice to Hendy Woods State Park - this place is an absolute gem of Northern California. The park is a peaceful and serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, offering a beautiful natural setting that's perfect for hiking, camping, or simply taking a leisurely stroll.
The park's main attraction is its towering ancient redwoods, which are simply awe-inspiring. These majestic giants stand tall and proud, casting a cool, refreshing shade over the forest floor. It's hard not to feel humbled in the presence of these magnificent trees, which have stood here for centuries, weathering countless storms and bearing witness to the passing of time.
But Hendy Woods is more than just a pretty place - it's also a haven for wildlife, with plenty of opportunities to spot local critters like deer, raccoons, and even the occasional black bear. The park is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, making it a great place for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
If you're looking for outdoor recreation, Hendy Woods has got you covered. The park offers plenty of hiking trails, ranging from easy walks to more challenging hikes that will take you deeper into the forest. There are also picnic areas, campgrounds, and even a swimming hole where you can cool off on hot summer days.
All in all, Hendy Woods State Park is a true treasure of Northern California. Whether you're a seasoned outdoors enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful escape from the city, this park is definitely worth a visit. Five stars, hands down!

Breathtaking Trees | Comfortable Hikes For All | Excellent Campground
Hendy Woods is a wonderful park for people of all ages and abilities. It' has trails of varying, mostly mild difficulty, and all of the old growth is very accessible and flat.
The old growth park is breathtaking. Many fallen giants are left where they fell. You can go inside several of the fire-hollowed trees. Although you should always stay on the path, they park does not feel overly fenced off like some other parks we've visited.
There is a river bed that is also fun to explore, if you need a break from the trees.
The campgrounds are very nice. Sites are large and among the redwoods, which you can't beat. As it can get very hot here in summer, it's great to have that canopy. Hosts and rangers are friendly too!
Bonus: there is an apple orchard next door where you'll want to stop on the way out for tasty juices.

I went camping here with my dad for 2 nights and it was wonderful. We reserved plot F of the Walk in campsites and it was wonderful. The spot itself was simply gorgeous, and it was far enough away from other campsites that we couldn't see them. There was plenty of room to set up our tents and the food box was for sure raccoon proof. (They tried valiantly) The host was very nice and the firewood was a good price. The bathrooms are somewhat of a walk, but that wasn't a problem for us. The only slight downside is that you can hear the highway from the campsite, but it wasn't too loud, and it dies down after dark and it didn't bother us much. It also felt very safe. My dad went into town for a few hours both days so he could call his work and I was alone at the campsite, I didn't once feel like I was in danger. The entire place is just a calm little getaway that gives you a lovely sense of the woods. I will be back!!

Beautiful park to walk around for the day because the trails are all short. BEWARE OF THE ENTITLED LOCALS that walk their dogs here. They don't control their obnoxiously untrained barking dogs and openly argue and curse at each other when their dogs go after each other. If you're one of those locals, (you know who you are😉) instead of trying to involve strangers caught in the middle of YOUR situation, train yourself and your dogs how to behave while in public🤗

I lived on Mill Creek Rd in 1961 in the summer.... not long. There was a State "Hospital" right in the area of this temple. I was wondering if this temple is in the same location, as that Hospital had a bad reputation of a lot of abuse, and closed. Going east as you go up the hill in the woods, on Mill Creek Rd there were a couple of reservoirs as you head in to the Cow Mountain Recreational area. The first and largest one of them, people would swim in them back them Camped there once with cub scouts then with my brother. We would see salamanders come up to the surface then dive back down. I remember them as being orange in color. People were swimming and going off rope swings on the other side of that reservoir that were tied to trees, when I was last there in August 1978. Very neat area. The dam there looks gated off to people now. Saftey thing I'm sure.Going there this June '23.

Just like being in China!
So beautiful
A small Buddhist city & school
nestled against the beautiful mountains of Ukiah
~full of peacocks.
This was the first Buddhist University in the United States.
The impressive prayer hall, authentic statues from Asia & reverent ceremonies for Guanyin Bodhisattva are a sacred blessing to all humanity.
There really are 10,000 Buddha statues here!
Highly recommend this Sacred place

Serene and beautiful. Peacocks will greet you upon arrival. Make sure to simply sign in at the main office. You’re allowed to take photos inside of the main hall, but no video is allowed. Please dress appropriately and do not disturb the bowing/chanting procession.

Stop here and pay respect to one of the most amazing traditions and religions. Was impressed to find such an incredible city hidden in this small town. You feel transported to the Far East once you cross its gates. The temple of the Ten Thousand Buddhas is worth a visit. I was there on a Sunday during a chanting ceremony. Lots of practicing Buddhists and Monks were there. Very peaceful and mystical. Such an oasis of calm, peace and tranquility tucked in the hills of Northern California.

Nelson Family Vineyards, situated near Ukiah, is a family-owned winery that offers delightful sensory experiences. The owners have utilized the land to its fullest potential by utilizing 200 acres of vineyards and a farm alongside it. They strongly believe that top-quality grapes are crucial for producing excellent wine. Their Pinots and Cabernets are made from estate-grown grapes of exceptional quality.
The vineyard is beautiful! Tasty wine at fair prices. We are super picky about our wines and thought it was very good. Bought a case of wine. Found out about this winery via HH. Hoping to be back sometime in the future.

Amazing place! We did a wine tasting, $10 for 5 tastes with the fee waived if you make a purchase! The wines were delicious. Really great sitting area and a picnic area in a cluster of redwoods. So beautiful! Also, the pear butter was amazing. We got a jar and put it on brie and crackers, unbelievable!

LOVED the winery and wines which we bought but not the available camping across the street wayyyy to far up a hill. Blame this one on hubby and owner should have offered us parking lower! No one should go up there with a big rig period! If you don't like cow "chips" absolutely don't go cause they are everywhere.

Awesome!!! What else is there to say. Great wine and great views. So relaxing!!!
Salt Point State Park is a stunning coastal destination in Northern California, offering panoramic views, rocky coastlines, and secluded coves. The park features wild tafoni rock formations to the south of Stump Beach and a breathtaking coastal waterfall at Phillips Gulch to the north. Visitors can explore whimsical rock formations along the bluff in the coastal prairie north of Fisk Mill Cove.
Beautiful views all throughout the park, clean trails which are mostly flat, beautiful rock formations. We saw birds, seals flowers all along the way. The color of water had a beautiful gradient from blue to green at different places.

Always a stunning time to visit. Mushrooms in the forest aplenty, and lots of fun little critters in the tide pools. Try to go during low tide!!
I saw some people taking mussels, so keep in mind that NO marine take is allowed, except for abalone (although banned until at least 2026) and finfish in certain areas. Basically just don’t disturb the wildlife please!

This is along Highway 1 Northen California, near Jenner, CA.
It is a good place for mushroom hunting, just off the freeway. The drawback is a lot of cars on the freeway, and it could be dangerous early the morning or late afternoon. It is hard to find a good place to park the car because narrowed shoulder and may not be legal.

We were there for a day hike and it's just beautiful 😻 There are campgrounds and hotels nearby, but public access bathrooms are not conveniently available in the park. We stopped at a preserve about 20 minutes before arriving at the trail.

We came here because it allows the foraging of mushrooms. We were hoping to find some Blewits. However an hour into our search, we found some hedgehog mushrooms. After a while we decided to just go to the cliffs to enjoy our stay. The view is the quintessential beautiful California seaside, sculptural rocks and wild, majestic waves. A nice way to spend a day after the rains.

An incredible view along the Northern California coast. We were lucky to visit Salt Point when the sun was slightly setting, there were no clouds in the sky, and it was a comfortable 68 degrees. It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. If you want to have a similar experience try visiting between September and October, that is when the conditions are best on the Northern California coast.

One of my favorite state parks and one of the quietest, in my humble opinion. The Gerstle campground is my favorite place to stay, but the Woodside campground is great too. The trail system is pretty well connected, but I recommend being a map or having the OnX app. It’s out of the way to get here, but totally worth it for a day hike or a camping trip.

What a fantastic place!! Lots of opportunity to study the geology of this area while enjoying vast vistas of the Pacific and the sound of waves crushing on the shore. Lots of bird sightings as well - kites, hawks, herons as well as bluebirds. The only thing I missed are signs explaining the local geology. Maybe that is at the Visitor center where we didn't go to.

Absolutely beautiful campground surrounded by lush and dense green undergrowth and tall pines. The cool ocean air coming up over the cliffs across the highway from the entrance help keep the temps perfect. Campsites are roomy and restrooms within an easy walk from most sites. No pull through sites, but back ins are plentiful. Each site has fire pits and picnic benches. Recommend reservations during the summers and on weekends.
Faith took four of us out on her pontoon boat for a two hour tour. Usually she doesn’t allow dogs, but she agreed to let our two well-behaved dogs come along. (They both immediately fell sound asleep in the sunshine, lulled by the motion and motor.) Faith knows a whole lot about bird and animal activity in and around Clear Lake, and is very good at getting her boat close enough to let you see them without disturbing them. She explained how the white pelicans work together to “herd” schools of fish into an ambush, as we watched it happen! We saw raptor nests on the shore, an otter scaring off a whole flock of pelicans, and lots of grebes. Very informative, fun, and so relaxing to be driven around the lake on a gorgeous morning. Faith had warned us we wouldn’t be able to access the coves of the lake due to low water level, but it was a great trip nonetheless. I highly recommend doing this if you visit Clear Lake.

Faith is the best! She has so much knowledge about the beautiful birds of Clear Lake. She knows just where to take passengers to show off the beauty and wonder of lake life. We have taken four tours, and no tour is ever the same! Her enthusiasm and love for the birds of Clear Lake makes each tour fun. She also has amazing photo albums on her boat to share and see grebes and other birds up close that way too! Do not miss a chance to go out on the lake on Faith's comfortable and spacious pontoon boat. I promise you won't regret it!

Honestly, one of the best boating and birding experiences ever! Faith was so kind and knowledgeable, responsive and communicative both before and during the trip. Her boat is clean and comfortable, and she guides with kindness, confidence and information the entire time. She knew just where to take us to see fantastic birds and we even caught the beginning of the grebe mating dance season. A trip we will never forget! So highly recommended. Thank you, Faith!

If you're visiting Clear Lake (or even if you live here like we do!) this boat tour is a MUST. It's educational, relaxing, serene and informative. Our Captain (and owner) Faith is a talented photographer and a very knowledgeable guide of the local Flora and Fauna. We saw so many beautiful birds!! At one point we cruised a quiet Emerald green canal that is reminiscent of Disneylands Jungle Cruise ride..I almost expected hippos to emerge from the water...just BEAUTIFUL...so much life going on in this diverse area.
It's an affordable getaway for a few quiet hours out on the water. We can hardly wait to go back.

This morning Faith, a photographer and birdwatcher, took my husband and myself out in a pontoon boat on Clear Lake. We were ale to photograph grebes rushing, napping and doing the weed ceremony. She knew when the grebes might rush and would position the boat so we were at the right distance for our lenses and had the best lighting. The grebes did not always rush as predicted, but with the lengthy tour, we were able to get several great photos. She also provided interesting facts and stories about the wildlife found in and around the lake. Faith's personality and expertise made our trip an event to remember. Thank you, Faith, for a great time!

We have lived in county of Lake since 2010 and Eyes Of The Wild pontoon boat tours have become an integral experience by which we are able to share our love of Clear Lake with our friends and family. Faith, the proprietor and captain of Eyes Of The Wild, truly embraces the moniker of her tours with joy and exquisite enthusiasm! We have taken a boat tour with Faith every year since we moved here (except for the years of severe drought conditions and Covid restrictions) and each experience has revealed a new aspect of bird life, of learning to 'read' the lake, and of conversations regarding our relationship to nature. We are privy to Faith's eye for beauty in nature, and able because of that to witness the courtship dances of grebes (which never fail to thrill), as well as intimate portraits within nature of cormorants, Great Blue Heron, Snowy egrets and so many more. We are honored to post the most positive review possible of the amazing experience that is the Eyes Of The Wild pontoon boat tour.

I highly recommend Eyes of the Wild grebe photo tours, especially if you like observing nature and wildlife. It was an unusual year for the grebes in that there were less than usual, but Faith went out of her way to make sure that we saw as much as possible. We saw lots of Western and Clark's grebes engaging in courtship behavior, including synchronized preening, sharing grass and dancing on top of the water together. It was a fascinating experience I won't forget. Faith is very knowledgeable about the birds and the area. Her boat is quite comfortable. I highly recommend the trip
Linda Spangler — Google review
My dad and I had two amazing trips with Faith to photograph the grebes doing their courtship displays! She knew exactly where to take us, exactly the right time of day for both the grebes and the weather conditions, and she knew *exactly* when the grebes were about to display, getting the boat in the exact right position for photos! Can't wait to go out with Faith again to see the grebes with their chicks! Highly, highly recommend! It may be more expensive than renting your own boat, but Faith's knowledge of the birds made it more than worth it, many times over!
We found Caego on VRBO on a Thursday, it showed that they had a room available Saturday through Monday. The calendar showed the room was available so we decided to book. A few hours later we didn't hear anything, we went to bed, woke up, still nothing.
In the afternoon it had been over 12 hours and we hadn't heard anything so I decided to call Ceago directly, nobody answered and there was no voicemail.
Then late Friday night, as we were packing for our trip they canceled our reservation out of the blue. They said it was already booked for this weekend and asked us to book another weekend.
Incredibly unprofessional, I won't make this mistake twice.

An 1812 Russian-American settlement with several buildings plus trails, campsites & a beach.
Stunning site of a former Russian fort on the Sonoma Coast. There are lots of places for picnics if you want to pack a lunch, and plenty of winding trails to hike and explore the beautiful coastline. The fort itself is very interesting. The little chapel really stands out, and is quite beautiful for a simple little church. There is also a sandy beach near the fort, which is a great place to relax and take in the sounds of the Pacific. The fort itself closes to visitors at 4:30, but the park is open until sundown. If you have time to stick around, the sunsets are spectacular from here, as well! I really enjoyed my visit!

Took the family to this historic fort which has great views of the coast. There is a 15 minute introductory video at the visitor souvenir center which I recommend watching first. From there a short scenic walk to the fort. It is very well maintained and the kids got a real feel of what it might have been like to have lived back then without all the electronic media and modern conveniences of this generation. A couple hours is probably all one needs to take on all this place has to offer though just hanging around and relaxing enjoying the views is worth the trip.

An incredibly maintained park. Very clean and well maintained with friendly staff. The Fort itself is in absolutely beautiful condition which compliments the breathtaking views of the Northern California coast. There are some really neat artifacts to look at in the museum and a lot of great information in the early settlements here. We are so glad we took the drive up the coast to see this gem from the past.

The fort is well maintained and the visitor center/museum provides lots of interesting details into the history of the area, Russian settlers and their relationships with the local popukation. I thought it was fascinating!
The views around the area are also amazing and you can get in a 2 mile hike while learning and enjoying the views!
It is very windy on the coast here.

A very beautiful place on the roaring coast of Northern California. The drive to get there is really challenging. We met a bunch of Corvette drivers who had the best time getting there. I have a completely different view of the Russians since visiting this place. Very artistically built. They treated everyone equally. They did not demand converting to their religion. I was so impressed. Well worth the effort to visit.

Nice place, this is my second visit. It is really interesting to learn about the Russians presence in California dating back to 1812. Makes sense now that there is a river called the Russian river. Great recreation of the original fort. We took the tour and it was well worth it.

Fort Ross State Park is a piece of history on the Pacific coast that was saved by a Russian billionaire. The 3,400 acre Park offers beautiful landscapes and historic structures. Plan to spend the day; touring the historic compound, visit the Fort Ross cemetery, hike the historic orchard, walk the San Andreas fault, stroll the bluffs and look for seals and whales. Also, if you are a certified scuba diver, explore 100-year-old shipwreck. A whole day's worth of activities will only cost you, $10 per vehicle to park. The Historic landmark is only open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., so arrive early. I would recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing a picnic lunch with drinks to enjoy between activities. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

We visited Fort Ross in June 2023. It was cold and slightly rainy, so we decided not to walk all the way down to the fort itself. But we did spend time in the visitors center.
It has some nice exhibits to check out. And of course that's where you purchase tickets and enter the actual fort. But it's a long walk down to the fort. And a lot more if you want to walk the whole property. But as I said, we decided against it today. I was disappointed. But it made sense not to walk long distances in the cold and rain.
The visitors center also had restrooms at its entrance for folks to use. And of course there is a small gift shop for souvenirs. There is an area for picnics and such out near the parking area. So Fort Ross is a nice place to visit even if you do not visit the actual fort.
My partner and I visited and had an absolute blast!
This is not your average tasting, it’s a wine lesson. I would highly recommend taking the trek off the beaten path for a visit.

Had such a great time visiting BobDog Winery! Tim, the owner, makes sure each tour is personalized and sits with you to teach you about the wine making process. He also curates a very informative tasting that helps you analyze the wines and get in touch with all of your senses when tasting. This was a much more intimate and educational tasting than other wineries in the area will provide. Not to mention Tim was very kind and funny so we had a blast the whole time. The ride up to his place is a bit of a trek but the views are 100% worth it. 10/10 recommend booking a tour here if you’re looking for a unique Sonoma experience.

All I can say is WOW!!!!! The drive up is a trip. Be prepared to rough it as parts of the road is not paved, steep and has some tight turns. The winery is worth it. Great view from the road. Saw some deer. We sat and talked wine and tasted for almost 2 hrs. Not fancy, very relaxed and low key. Tim showed us how to really taste the wine. We have lived in No. Calif. for 45 years, (yes we tasted all those years), and now there are about 400+ wineries within a 2 1/2 hr drive and this one is the top!!!! Both in quality and location at 2000 ft. We got tired of the Napa Valley and the attitude of many of the wineries there. We will be repeat visitors to Bob Dog and will be drinking some of the wine at home this weekend!!!!.

What a wonderful place. The wine is exceptional and the owners are funny and informative. And the views! It's the highest winery in the county and you can see over the Vineyard into the valley below with the Ridges on the other side. It reminds me of Italy. Outstanding. You cannot see this any where else. And they are dog friendly! I will definately return for more. Can't wait to see it in the spring. I bet it's beautiful.
Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery was founded in 1981 by second-generation Italian-Americans, Don and Rhonda Carano. They were enamored with the charm of Northern Sonoma County while searching for wines to feature on Eldorado's wine lists, ultimately purchasing a 60-acre parcel in Alexander Valley. The winery is an excellent destination for wine enthusiasts as it boasts impressive service and superb wine. In addition, the property's surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful.
In love with this place! I've never been more impressed with a winery. Definitely the place to go if you are showing someone around wine country. Ferrari Carano does not disappoint. The service is always phenomenal and the wine even more so. 😍

Beautiful property! We thoroughly enjoyed our Molto Bene wine and food pairing. Juan was our host and we found him to be quite knowledgeable and informative about the wines and the history of the Vineyard. We knew some history having read the book “A Very Good Year” about the winery, but it was fun to catch up with the 22 years that have happened since the book was published. (Read it twice, When it when it was first published, and then again recently ) We got to meet the chef and he explained everything in detail and how and why he complimented the wines with his food preparation’s. Special shout out because he was able to accommodate me! The wines were beautiful and were perfectly paired. Amazing wines that you do not see in your supermarket or in the cellars of your favorite restaurant. Definitely recommend!

Have visited many times in the past to enjoy wine and gardens. Did 2 tastings @$30 then bought wine for $80, usually that gets one of the tastings complimentary, not anymore!
Probably won't visit in future as there are others that have nice gardens and will give a complimentary tastings for the amount we spent.

This is a mandatory visit for me when Sonoma. Beautiful winery and great tasty wine. The prices are reasonable for the high quality. The winery went with the reservation model that the whole industry is adopting. I am not a fan of this model. To me it seems a way to extract more money from the customer. I do not need nor want a staff talking to me for minutes about the wine just to justify the $60/tasting for 3-5 2 oz pours. Wineries want to charge that much, better put some food pairing. On this visit, I asked for a glass of Tapestry and told the guy I did not need anything else. I think they appreciated and even gave us a table. I appreciated that. Overall, a great winery but perhaps best to call over and reserve or just ask for a glass of wine you know you would like.

The grounds are immaculate and breath taking. I 100% recommend making a stop and doing a tasting. There are two different types of tastings offered here (general tasting for $15 or the reserve collections for $25). We did the $15 tasting and split it because we had a very long day of tasting already under our belt. The bartender was hilarious and was super helpful! Of course we left with 3 bottles of wine and chocolate covered cherries 🤷🏼♀️even if you don’t want to do a tasting, I still recommend visiting the grounds and walking through the gardens.

I’m a foley member and was super excited to try this winery! Sadly, if you do the last tasting
you may get locked in and have to climb over the fence to get out 🙄 totally fine if you’re a young buck and agile. but totally not okay if you ask a 65 year old woman to hop a fence.
They knew once we headed out that they’d have to open the gates and told us they would keep the gate open. But when we got to the gate it was closed. We were forced to climb over. Would recommend this winery if you’re up for an adventure to climb out and hop a fence post tasting!
Deeply disappointed in foley. Recommendation: keep the gate open until all guests are out. They didn’t mind taking our $$ for wines before locking us inside the property :-)

I am partial to wild untamed land... and we were not able to explore the depths of this beautiful park).

What a must-stop while in the Santa Rosa/North Bay Area! You can pay $10 to drive back into the forest and find some parking to hike the trails. Beautiful redwoods as far as the eye can see. Any nature lover would absolutely enjoy a trip here. So many photo opportunities, but take some time to put the cameras down and soak in the landscape.

This is a fantastic, must visit vacation or day trip venue in Northern California. The Redwood forest here is a sight to see with beautiful ground covers consisting of clovers and ferns. These huge redwoods will take your breath away. Its amazing that some of the redwoods here are 1400 years old! I highly recommend bringing the family here and then planning a picnic lunch.
There is no per adult entry fee. Instead, they charge $10 for parking -- per vehicle. BTW the campgrounds are closed until further notice (after a Forrest fire a couple of years back).

Gorgeous scenery, feels like I stepped in a fairy tale forest.
Definitely worth going. We found a few 4 leaf clovers too!
Pros:stunning/friendly atmosphere and staff
Con: parking is very limited/bathrooms kinda dark, no paper towel to dry hands

Lovely place to walk among the new and old growth redwoods. You can bike there from Guerneville in about 15-20 minutes and there is a large section of the park that is bike friendly. Cute visitors station with some taxidermy of local wildlife. There is a lovely picnic area near a seasonal creek that we enjoyed lunch at. Quiet and peaceful place to enjoy the redwoods without having to deal with the tourists at Muir Woods. If you enter the parking lot you have to pay a fee or there is parking outside the gate for free. No cost to enter park.

This is a great quiet place to soak in the beauty of 1000 year old Redwood Trees. Definitely recommend hitting this park up early to appreciate the silence and take it all the sights as this park gets packed later in the day. It cost $10 to get in. You can pay at a kiosk once it's 8am. This is great for families and the solo traveler. Lots of great spots for photos! Definitely recommend this park for redwoods if you're in the area.

One of our favorite places. Armstrong Woods is great for hiking, short nature walks, and unique amazing trees. Some of the tallest/biggest trees in the world, and easy access/ parking/ hiking trails.
$10 to park inside the park or in the outer parking lot, easy pay stations where you can use credit card or cash (and usually an attendant at the kiosk on the way into the park).
It’s a Christmas tradition to go walk in the quiet, serene park on Christmas Day. 🎄
[Pro tip: Coffee Bazaar on Armstrong Woods Rd. is open Xmas day and sells tasty coffee drinks and pastries as well as breakfast burritos!]

This is a truly special place. We were in Napa Valley for the week and made sure to visit this place on our trip. This is my first time in a real redwood forest. I didn't see much in the way of wildlife other than a Pacific Wren but others could be heard. There weren't many people visiting the forest while we were there so it was nice. The only advice I can give others is to look at the local weather forecast and subtract about 20° from the temperature because it's much colder in a forest.

I never realized trees could be so cool! I was in awe at how regal the redwood trees are, some of which were more then one thousand years old. The park has several informative signs that tell the history of the area. There are a few picnic sections if you want to sit down for food. Parking is limited but you can get lucky if you go deeper into the park. Really fascinating and glad we stopped by!

I'm in love with redwoods! Such powerful, majestic yet gentle giants. We only did the easy nature walk, but it was easy and perfect to see the beautiful trees. Paid parking was limited but we parked for free on the street and just walked a quarter mile to entrance.

I came to Amstrong Redwood State Natural Reserve twice now. Can't remember which trail I took the first time but I took the accessible trail this time because my mom and mother-in-law were with me and they needed an easy trail. The trail is very flat, well maintained and beautiful with lots of shades. Love seeing how grand the big redwood trees are. The 1300 year-old tree is impressive. It isn't super big in diameter but it is very tall though.
They also have information panels along the way. We didn't read them much but if you have time, I'd recommend.
Even though we picked an accessible trail, my mother-in-law who is in a wheelchair couldn't go for too long because the surface isn't flat so she felt too much vibration which wasn't comfortable. Hope this information can be helpful if you have a family member in a wheelchair.
You have to pay for parking ($10) if you park in the parking lot. You can park on the street for free and walk over but why not help the park with $10 :)

What a beautiful site of redwoods. Very serene and peaceful environment. The entire trail is about 3 miles round trip. Parking is limited both inside and outside the entry gate. $10 per car entire day. There are restrooms and visitors center (gift shop) next to the self parking lot. Even on a hot day the redwoods keep you warm and cozy with it’s beautiful shade. Check out if you’re around Santa Rosa.

This was my first time here and it was truly amazing! You can either pay $10 and park in the parking lot or I got lucky and found a spot right outside of the gate for free. There’s lots of trails that come with the different levels of difficulty, but there is a sign next to the guest shop that tells you all about that. The whole entire park was super quiet you could literally hear a pen drop so be sure to maybe put your phone on silent , it’s kid friendly, but if you know your kid is a noise maker and won’t calm down for something like this then maybe the trail isn’t for you. There are picnic and camping areas. Overall, it was super nice lots of shade in the people were friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Nice place to go spend the day or a few hours. Biggest trails are closed due to fire damages, but some others still open, no need to go with hiking boots, the main trail is soft and nice to do even with kids. Free entrance, only $10 parking fee
Pauu Navarro — Google review
Easy trails, easy hikes along the Redwoods on a compact dirt path. There is a parking lot at the visitor center, $10 parking fee with clean flushing toilets and running water ~ I think they makes the $10 fee worth it. You can choose to drive inside the park but very limited parking space and mostly for ADA parking. Mostly people just park outside the entrance if the parking lot is full.

Gorgeous rainforest. Take a day to explore at least! Even fun in the rain! Definitely bring hiking or waterproof boots and rain gear. Plenty of parking and a waver for those who can't afford to pay for parking.

The Redwoods are a must-see, must experience for any Californian or visitor to California, for that matter. The majesty of nature is on display at its finest. If you want to recharge your battery and gain clarity of mind and some inner balance, I couldn't recommend a better experience.

What a gem! Took my grandson on a nice stroll through this mystical grove of redwoods. It’s not so large a state park that you get lost (particularly with a young one). There are a lot of crowds that can sometimes interrupt views and appreciation of the sounds of a forest. We were lucky enough to enter the empty amphitheater, where my grandson could take the stage to sings his favorite Queen songs without interruption. Definitely worthy of a return visit.

The Park is so beautiful. There is no entrance fee but have to pay 10 dollars for parking. If you park outside it's free. Perfect place for one day trip with kids. Most of the trails are strollers/wheelchair accessible. The person in the visitor center is so nice and helpful.

Great quiet park in the woods on Sonoma county.
Easy meandering trails. Great for kids since there's a scavenger hunt to keep them excited and anticipating the next landmark.
100 to 300 ft trees are a sight to behold. Pretty cool to see up close.
The parking lot is small. Street parking off the nature preserve is plentiful if you don't mind a longer walk. The 0.75 mile trail took about 2 hours with breaks every 15 to 20 mins. I don't walk that much and it was relatively relaxing.
Highly recommended. Picture is the 1st big tree landmark and the "troll" in the scavenger hunt.

My wife and I had a great time walking through the woods. She must use a walker to get around, and the trails we took were fantastic for her! One of the things I especially appreciated at the beginning of the trail was a sign that said what to expect on the trail with regard to distance, pitch, and grade. So we knew how difficult it would be for her to walk.
Once we were on the trail we thought the woods, the plants and the wildlife were absolutely gorgeous!
She loves to take photographs of mushrooms and lichen. I love to see her smile as we explore.
Ronnie St. Clair — Google review
This was our first visit since the disastrous fires in 2017. Much of the park is closed for the area to be able to recover, but the main grove is open and beautiful. It was raining when we visited (appropriate since it is a rain forest) so we only covered a mile or so of the trails that are open, but it was very peaceful among the redwood giants. This is a great visit for an easy walk and picnic (on a dry day)- hopefully the outer trails will be opened soon!

The sprawling and stylish Francis Ford Coppola Winery is a must-visit destination for fans of the famous family and their renowned Godfather movies. Drawing inspiration from Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens, the winery offers a sense of being in a children's garden with beautiful theater pavilions, peacock-feather-painted curtains, little ballet performances, rides, cafes and refreshments.
Beautifully manicured, with great views of the vineyards, lots of memorabilia, book in advance if you want to use the beautiful clean swimming pool. I did not do any wine tasting as I buy Coppola wonderful wines already but I did sit at the pool side bar and had one of there yummy cocktails and some lunch. Thanks Coppola family that we can just walk around without wine tastings to enjoy your beautiful grounds, have lunch etc. I came just after the 4ᵗʰ July, so I can imagine it gets pretty very busy. CG

Electric Lemonade by the pool is all I need to say. This place blows the other wineries out of the water! They have so much film memorabilia, a gorgeous restaurant, and a beautiful pool you can spend all day at. Of course you could also do a wine tasting. Definitely worth at least stopping by and walking around for a couple minutes.

If you are in Sonoma County I highly recommend to check out Coppola Winery! Of course you will get to taste wine but you’ll also see Oscars that Francis Ford Coppola was awarded for his achievements in movie production. If you are a big fan of his movies you’ll absolutely enjoy seeing costumes and some other things that were used in the movies such as Dracula and Apocalypse Now and etc. Restaurant on the property is such a convenience! You can’t go wrong with pasta 🍝 and wine 🍷

-restaurant. The food is good. The portions are big so maybe is you are not starving you can share. Call in advance for reservations if you want to be outside.
-swimming pool.- is a good size and the service is amazing. You can rent a cabin for have more confort.
- wine tasting.- I highly recommend the club at this winery is worth.

Opened in 2010- it has not lost its luster in 2023. The food is not cheap- but I thought it was actually worth the money. The pork Milanese on the bone was the juiciest I have ever had- ask for an extra lemon to squeeze on top and you will be in heaven. This is a great place to treat yourself or take out of town visitors to. During the hotter month, the swimming pool is a great hang out. The cabanas vary from $180-280 depending on the day of the week and season. They have multiple tasting room options and an outside bar. It feels like a wine and hospitality amusement park. A great place to spend a few hours!

Fun time at Coppola Winery! Honestly, it’s more about the movies than the wine. The wine is just OK compared to Napa standards, but the cool facility, the awesome movie artifacts, and the fun atmosphere make up for it!

Good place to visit. Actually it is a large giftshop wirh an interesting museum. You see very important props, costumes and pictures of Coppolas movies, his Oscars and other prices and can buy wine and souvenirs. The prices starts at about 20 Dollar per bottle. They also serve food and of course there is wine tasting, but don't expect anything to be a bargain! Sadly they don't have books or autographs of the master himself.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Francis Ford Coppola Winery, and I can't say enough about the exceptional hospitality and dining experience we had there.
From the moment we walked in, we felt like honored guests. Their warmth and generosity set the tone for an unforgettable visit.
Our wine-tasting experience was elevated by Sarah, whose knowledge and passion for the wines were truly impressive. She took the time to educate us about the different varietals, enhancing our appreciation for Coppola's outstanding wines.
But the real star of the show was Nathan at Rustic. His welcoming demeanor and personable nature made us feel right at home. The food at Rustic was nothing short of amazing – from the delectable wine flight to the mouthwatering risotto and meatballs. Nathan's attention to detail and dedication to providing an exceptional dining experience left us speechless.
What truly stood out was the impeccable service we received throughout our visit. Our friends were equally impressed, and we're already planning our return trip with family.
The Francis Ford Coppola Winery is a gem, and I can't wait to celebrate more special occasions there. I'll definitely be leaving a 5-star review on Google as well to let others know about this hidden treasure.
Thank you, Lillian, Rose, Sarah, and Nathan, for making our visit so memorable. We can't wait to return and create more cherished memories at your winery!

My friends, for any Brazilian who likes to go to São Roque in São Paulo, you should know this place. I feel in the same atmosphere and with excellent wines from the Napa Valley region.
The place is beautiful, extremely set for Coppola's films, with vineyards in the background and always full of people.
The food is American style, but pleases with its quality and flavor, logically enjoyed with glasses of wine from the region and Coppola's fields.
It's worth a lot if you're visiting San Francisco, to visit Napa Valley and also the Geyserville region.
An obligatory stop for those who like wine and good mountain air.

So today was our first time . So happy we did this. The guy who helped us was named Steve and he was so nice and full of great information. The property is filled with memories from Francis Ford Coppola, a restaurant, a pool open all summer long for guest by reservation, and much more. It was $25/ person for the “at bar” tasting including 1 white and 3 reds. If you choose the outdoor specialty tasting (for the reserves where you can only purchase in house) it costs $40. They of course have a wine club where you can purchase the level of your choice. The staff was very friendly, educational on both the wine and property, and our overall experience was an A+. Also, the property is close to many other vineyards, so this can be one of your many stops in the area.

If you are a Coppola fan, this place is a MUST STOP. There are so many great places to sit and enjoy a drink here - outside or inside, and lots of gift items for sale inside. Since I was short on time, I just cruised through the exhibits of movie memorabilia upstairs and down, which is worth the visit alone. I appreciate that this place (unlike Inglenook and most others) allows you to drive in and walk around without a reservation, and there is ample parking outside. People working here seemed friendly and welcoming too. I'll definitely be back to spend some more time here!
Korbel Winery is a 19th-century winery located near Guerneville and the Russian River, that offers guided walks and tasting events. The winery has a history museum as well as champagne cellars. It's hidden among giant redwood trees, providing beautiful views of vineyards and redwoods making it an ideal destination for wine lovers.
I’m not much of a champagne fan, but now that we live nearby we wanted to try it. Turns out it’s pretty awesome! The main building is beautifully done, though I’m sad to see a lot of the original hardwood floors were covered in diamond plate. The grounds are well maintained and attractive.
The champagnes are all very good. The tastings are reasonably priced, and even their pinot noir was excellent. We left with a couple bottles.

This is an awesome winery with some well known and delicious champagne. Everybody here was super friendly and helpful. The lunch portions at the deli were filling and the quality was top notch. I would come here again and again if I were to come through Sonoma.

Off the beaten path unless you’re going to Korbel or driving to the coast, this gem of a Deli & Market is not to be missed! Between the young and energetic staff, that is also helpful and motivated, as well as the nice outdoor sitting/dining area with heat lamps(!), we had a nice lunch and Champagne AND latte A-N-D pastries!! That’s how good this place is: Reasonable prices, excellent and fresh food, great service, and a nice location. Some may complain about River Road traffic noise, but we just had another glass of very inexpensive, but excellent, Champs to block the noise while enjoying the views of trees and vineyards across the road! Lots of families and a range of ages were all enjoying a nice experience with lunch and bevs. Check it out and thank me later LOL!

Reservations required! You'll also want to get there early in the busy summer months. This is one of the many wineries in the area, but is easily accessible from the main road.
They have a Cafe with sandwiches and such as well as a tasting room, a greeting room, and plenty of places to hang out on the patio.
Since I am not much of a wine drinker, I won't comment on that but will say it's a nice size operation and beautiful area.

2nd time’s a charm! Initially, we didn’t realize a reservation was required for Tasting. Thanks to Ashley, at the reception desk, we were able to sample the Sec and schedule a Tasting for the next day. Upon returning, we were greeted by Ashley and attended by Debbie, who did a GREAT job of sharing the history of the company & vineyards and samples of Korbel products (Thank you, girls!). The setting is subtly elegant and comfortable; the champagne even more so. Given the opportunity, don’t miss this one!

Korbel Winery is a wonderful multifaceted Winery in Northern California near Guerneville, a quaint town between Santa Rosa and the Pacific Coast.
Korbel Winery is beautifully landscaped, has a Delicatessen & Market where you can purchase a made to order meal and select a bottle of your favorite bubbly to go or you can enjoy your meal on the patio under the canopy of giant Redwoods, listening to local songbirds 🐦.
Korbel Winery also has a great tasting room, check out the wines 🍷 and champagne they have to offer. In addition, Korbel makes their own label Brandy.
You can stroll along the grounds, enjoying the giant Redwoods, flowers, landscaping, and even enjoy your lunch, snack, or champagne with your dog in their Pet Area.
They have a huge parking lot, so there's normally a place to park.
Do yourself a favor and check out Korbel Winery, you will not be disappointed!

All in all Korbel was just an okay experience for us. We had lunch at the deli and it was fine. Nothing special for me. We tried the chicken salad sandwich as well as the turkey sandwich. I could probably think of a hundred places that would give me a better sandwich for cheaper. Unfortunately, we arrived too late to get any kind of tour here so I can't review that. Once we finished lunch we went to the actual tasting room. It was a little confusing. We entered through the gift shop where you could see the tasting room and I asked how to get to it because there were numerous signs saying "do not enter" that way. The cashier pointed to the tasting room like I was dumb. If you post do not enter signs some people actually respect that. Apparently the actual entrance was further down in the building on the back side away from the parking lot. That seemed like a very strange place to put the entrance but whatever. Upon entry into the tasting room I walked up to the bar where there were numerous ladies working and told them we wanted to do a tasting for two. They immediately seated us. We waited a few minutes for someone to come over and start doing the tasting. Honestly, other than the fact that there are some things you can only taste here and not buy elsewhere (supposedly) I could have done without the tasting. It was nothing special. It was also very quiet at this winery. I think it's just the location being so far away from the city of Napa. Really the only reason we stopped in was because we had made a stop at the Armstrong Redwood Forest and this was just down the street. I don't think it's really even worth a visit even if you are going to the redwoods.

I give the Vigilance Tasting Room 5 stars in a hope that Clay will not sell the property. We were very disappointed as club members to hear that they have decided to shutdown operations at this Tasting Room. So, pull up a chair this one is worth the read:
I travel to this area of northern California with my cousin every year to see our family. We've done it for years. I live in Denver, and "wine country" doesn't really exist where I live. Each year, we pick a little place to go taste wine, to support local business. We've always enjoyed ourselves. But, this year was a different story.... When we came into town, we just happened to buy a bottle of local wine at Safeway. Clever label...local.. Great taste. Check ✅
When we had a little time on our Sunday afternoon this year, we decided to find out more about this simple lil bottle we bought from Safeway.....
Lower lake...super close: check
Amazing website... Check.
Mission/concept: Inspiring: Check.
So we headed south. When we arrived to their beautiful facility, we were greeted by Marlyna. Little did we know, our lives would all be changed by our arrival. We had a tasting, the regular tasting flight. Each time this beautiful lady poured into our glass, we got the story about its concept. How it got there, and more importantly, what their intention is. All the while, watching the vineyard's sheep. Because you know, they plant a cover crop. Not sure what that means? Just look it up....
As the sun set, we decided... It was time to buy some wine and some merch. Our lovely host took Extra care of each group in her bar. When it was our turn, she topped off our tasting glasses with the particular wine we each loved ( mine was the best one, 😉)
Needless to say, we felt so inspired to support not only this winery, but this company's mission: thinking outside the box. Seeing the whole picture and making a difference.
We finished our taste, cashed out and headed for the door.
With sincere gratitude, our lovely host hugged us like we were family, and off we went.
We will be back. Next year, and the year after that, and the year after that.
We talked all the way home about how grateful we were for our experience at vigilance winery. But also, how glad we are that this special company has this host to represent it.
And our names rhyme... So there's that!
Now that we are wine club members, we'll be back; you're stuck with us.
Cheers.

Bodega Head, located in Bodega Bay, offers a picturesque peninsula with stunning ocean views and whale watching opportunities. The area features a popular hiking trail along the cliff, providing visitors with a chance to admire the rugged beauty of the Sonoma Coast. With trails like the Bodega Head Trail and the longer Bodega Dunes Trail, there are options for hikers of all levels.
Such an absolutely spectacular place. My girlfriend and I visit about every month or so. We always try new trail combinations. I like visiting at different times of the year to experience different weather vistas. Gorgeous views, lots of wildlife and beautiful flora. Cute little beach. There is ample parking, there are restrooms, several picnic tables, and not far from great restaurants. I also like to explore and find remnants of old PG&E nuclear project from the 1960s. Thank God that project fell through!

World famous whale watching site. Northward migration is starting now, so head out there if you can. In addition to the whales, you can see harbor seals, sea lions and sometimes otters swimming by. Also a great birding location. Easy access, parking, and restrooms, but you might want to avoid weekend days when it is super hot inland because it gets way too crowded.

This area has the coooolest coastal hike, and you can totally make it your own with all the little trails and offshoots throughout! Sweeping views of the coast, ocean, beaches, and town of Bodega Bay. My wife and I have been coming here for years, and the view never gets old. The experience is refreshing and delightful every visit. The parking lot can be extremely crowded, but the trails and the beach are always a pleasurable and seemingly secluded adventure to relax and enjoy the endless views of the Pacific. The beach can be sketchy to get to, but is never crowded and as long as the tides are out it's a wonderful time.

An excellent place to park your car and soak in the beauty of the ocean. There’s also a moderate gravel walking path beside the cliff edge, overlooking the ocean. The walk continues on through a deer and spring flower filled meadow.
I would caution taking toddlers and young children without complete attention and supervision over them.

A perfect getaway for the bay area people. The view of the pacific from the Bodega head is just magnificent. There is also a small 2 mile trail on edge of the cliff which I just loved it. Great place to fly drone, take some good pictures and relax! Yes, there is a restroom and a big parking space.

We visited Bodega bay last weekend and enjoyed hiking on the bodega head trail. The hike is easy with plenty of scenic views along the way. There are benches along the way to sit and enjoy the view. Can hear the water all along the hike. Parking is easy to get and the sunset view is beautiful. I would recommend this place to everyone. We also spotted a deer on our way back near the parking area.

Stunning views from this trail! Felt like I was in a classic novel from Cornwall while taking in the sound of the water crashing against the rocks and the fog rolling in…The wildflowers were so pretty and smelled divine! It was definitely a highlight on our journey to experience this hike 🙏🏻

Stunning bluff top vista's make this my ultimate coast destination whenever my wife and I drive out to Bodega Bay from Santa Rosa. Bodega Head is a small promontory on the Pacific Coast with cliff trails, beach access, abundant sea birds, and migrating whales that define scenic beauty.
We had the best time zipping through the tree tops. Our guides were amazing and laughed with us and our group the entire time. Be ready to feel at one with nature.
Make sure to bring comfortable clothes and shoes and please tip your zipline guides. They work super hard.q

AMAZING is an understatement!!
The entire experience was phenomenal. The staff designated to our group was very helpful & cheerful, made the entire time fun and exciting. We felt safe & were able to enjoy every minute! My family and I will be going back for a night time zip lining adventure!

Wow! I am still on a high from yesterday's Tree Tops adventure (pun intended). At the beginning, I was nervous, but the beauty of the forest and the fun of zipping quickly put me at ease. I was very impressed with the processes that ensured our safety and the care by our guides, Aidan and Dan, to keep us safe; even though there was much laughter and talking, our guides were ALWAYS focused on the equipment. Our group developed a fast camaraderie, which was really nice.
Being up in those peaceful treetops was incomparable, and I plan to go again in future. I highly recommend, *as long as you are comfortable with heights*. This is not for the meek, but if you are feeling brave, it is so worth it.

Fun and exciting experience!!! Our guides, Brian and Kelly (hope I got their names right) were absolutely awesome. They were patient, knowledgeable and entertaining, but most importantly they made me feel safe and comfortable. They truly made it a fun experience! I loved that there were Bible Verses posted on the trees.

It was such a great day to experience this the first time! And we had a blast! 😀 there will be heart dropping moments, but I promise! It's all worth it! Our guides made us secure and safe up there and they made sure we are all havin fun!

I can not thank the folks at Sonoma Zipline adventures enough. The experience was great - but what was even more amazing was watching the guides work with my autistic son to make him comfortable. They built trust with him right away, and were gentle, supportive and kind... helping him to complete the entire course and have a blast in the process.

The best and longest zipline in Northern California hands down! Had a blast here. The instructors Santana and Maria were dope and very easy going.

With a couple of zipping options, we chose the Tree Tops Tour and had a blast! Our leads were detailed, helped every step of the way where necessary &/or needed, complete with purposefully corny jokes! While all zip line tours seem to end far too fast, I def recommend this specific tour if you want to experience the fullness of the Redwoods! There are some steps to climb in the beginning, which may be challenging to some, but other than that, easy-breezy! Plenty of parking, drinks avail before and after the tour. If you want to bring your camera, wear a fanny pack or have a spot where it's secure! If you drop it...well, it's just gone!
Have fun!!

Incredible experience! We did the overnight treehouse stay with ziplining and had the best time. The staff from the guides to the hosts were all wonderful. Treehouse was very comfortable with all the creature comforts. The food was really, really good as well.

Great time... Scared at first, especially being scared of heights, but the guides made us feel relaxed and allowed us to take our time. We did the Forest Flight line (200 feet) and was very comfortable once I got the hang of it and the fear subsided. Please tip your guides.

Amazing! What a way to spend my birthday. The forest flight tour was just what I needed. The weather was nice, the views were beautiful, and our tour guides were so friendly and energetic. Special thanks to Geeta. You have an amazing voice and you were so patient with our very neurodiverse group. 10s across the board.

This was a blast!
We did the treetops tour, which includes 7 zip lines and 2 bridges. Fantastic views of the redwoods and an overall thrilling experience. Our group was paired with another family for the tour, and we all went through the course together. The ziplines are smooth, and I felt safe the whole time with our guides, Bruce, Anna, and Steven, who were all great!

Great experience! Spent the afternoon zip lining then stayed overnight in the treehouses which were lovely. Dinner was brought to our treehouse & the food was excellent. Sitting out under the stars was incredible. After a lovely breakfast we then did the larger zip line course which was such fun. The hosts & guides were all superb & made the whole experience unforgettable!

Amazing and fun guides. The safety protocols are great and not once did I feel unsafe. For the price we had an amazing time and would love to come back.
Doran Beach Rd is a picturesque route that runs through Doran Regional Park, providing stunning views of the ocean and direct access to the beach. As you drive out of a steep ravine towards Bodega Bay, turning onto Doran Beach Road leads you to a 2-mile stretch of land reaching into Doran Beach at Doran Regional Park. There's an entry fee for this area.
Alexander Valley Vineyards offers a unique lunch hike experience that sets it apart from other wineries. The daily 90-minute excursion takes visitors on an easy stroll through the vineyards, allowing them to taste wine right where it's grown. Additionally, the winery provides a grape-to-glass outing at the Wetzel Family Estate, culminating in a wine tasting straight from the barrel in an underground cave.
Really enjoyed the wine cave tour! Excellent staff and really great wine. Affordable wine club!

Shaun did a great job with our cave tour! Very welcoming and knowledgeable staff and doggies to greet you - what can be better? Also, it’s nice not to have the pressure for everyone to taste and pay crazy money for the tasting. This visit reminded me why I fell in love with this region 20 years ago!

What an incredible experience at Alexander Valley Vineyards! This was a trip we will never forget and have been sharing pics with our friends and family since our stay. We enjoyed the beauty of the property, and had a thoughtfully curated wine tasting, followed by a tour of the wine caves. My husband and I had the opportunity to stay in the 1860’s schoolhouse, which is in the middle of the vineyard, surrounded by their farm, and stunning views. It was a surreal experience! The staff at AVV blew us away with their genuine hospitality and will be a definite destination for us on our returning trips!

We have visited Alexander Valley Vineyards winery many times over the years. As we live in the area, it has become one of our favorites; especially the rose! Please keep making it! 😁. We finally did the cave tour and loved it. There is some great history and tradition at this particular winery and I hope it's never lost nor forgotten. If you visit, try to take the cave tour, taste a few wines and definitely take a box or two home!

Truly outstanding!! If I could give more stars I would! Pamela helped us with a wine tasting, and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the different wines, the regions in wine country, and dining in the area. We even got a bonus pour and she pretended that we had a coupon. Along with the samples, we got a glass of Pinot Noir and Rose. Everything is delicious, with my favorites being the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and the Organically Grown Cabernet Sauvignon. You can also walk around the vineyards, which is super cool. Definitely recommend!

Decades of history, family and beauty surround this estate. . . and when you see it, smell it and taste it, you'll understand why because with history, family and beauty Alexander Valley Vineyards surpasses lovely!! My husband and I visited during harvest in early November [it was our 40 and 10 celebration, my first visit to CA and without the kids!] We saw first-hand what it takes to produce an extraordinary Cabernet! From quality control to pressing grapes and barrel aging in caves, AVV knows how to build character and (to put it simply,) "great wine!" We also had the pleasure of meeting Harry Wetzel, owner and original winemaker at AVV. His casual charm and simplicity - plus those suspenders! - but attention to detail took our breath away! The tasting room was also inviting, serving as a common place to learn and taste all Alexander Valley has to offer. Staff members were familiar with the history of the estate and thoroughly enjoyed sharing in the everyday stories dating back to Alexander himself. We look forward to returning. . . maybe this time we'll visit the old schoolhouse and the special place a top the hill, but until then; sip, savor and enjoy AVV!!!

Beautiful wine tasting today at Alexander Valley Vineyards!! The hosts were so sweet and welcoming. The tasting room/patio is surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees.

What an amazing place! We where lucky enough to stay in the School House on the property. It was such a special visit. The team at AVV was so welcoming and helpful from our perfect private tasting to the restaurant recommendations and the over the top hospitality we received. Also, THE WINE, the wines we tasted (and purchased to enjoy in Chicago) where some of the best, most thoughtful wines I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. We will be back. My favorite highlight was the Vineyard dog, Hatti. She was so sweet and I can’t want to play fetch with her again.

It’s absolutely beautiful. Everyone, including the pets, were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was easy to setup a tour of the caves. We also had time for a tasting. The selection was wonderful. There were unique items we couldn’t resist in the gift shop. I recommend adding them to your itinerary.

Even though this vineyard may be a bit out of the way, it is well worth the trip. The wine was delicious, the tour of the wine cave was fun and informative, and our guide was very knowledgeable. Best of all, the tastings are a bargain compared to the cheap pours and high costs at so many of the other vineyards.
The people that worked at the vineyard were all super friendly and knowledgeable about the wine. My family really enjoyed our time here and would absolutely recommend it for groups, couples, and even families with children.
Thank you for a great experience.

Lovely setting, you can sit out on their front porch or go inside at the bar, you can order a cheese plate to have with your tasting. The dog is great. The staff is very welcoming and are happy to explain everything to you. Their wines are very reasonably priced.

This winery is stunning! The lands, facilities, and staff were all top notch. The wines are beautifully crafted with low intervention, and affordable! We were lucky enough o stay in the schoolhouse and share in the rich history of this winery and region. Thank you so much for your hospitality 🥂

Very relaxed and beautiful vineyard that is incredibly welcoming and hospitable. My son and I enjoyed time on their porch while I tasted their wines. Then we were both treated to a free cave tour too. My son loved it and I really appreciated being able to have my son join as many vineyards seem to be shutting out those with children. Service was friendly and personable and the wine was very tasty while being reasonably priced.
