This is one of the tallest dams in the world. It is very impressive. There are two scheduled tours of the dam. One in the morning, usually at 10:00 AM, and one in the afternoon at about 1:00 PM. A tour guide will take you deep inside, then take an elevator to the top, and walk about 1/2 the distance of the dam across the top.
In the museum there are stuffed animals of the local wildlife, and a model of the dam and the reservoir. You can watch short films about the dam, and the building of the dam. The most interesting for me, is the last river run logging film.

Was super disappointed you can't walk, or even drive across the dam. That was a first, of all the dams we've visited. They do have tours at 10 and 1. But we got there at 10:30, and there isn't much to do to waste 2.5 hours.
Small museum inside. Diagrams on how the dam works. Upstairs is stuffed dead animals, and downstairs is info on logging.
It's a nice deive up. The scenes are pretty. But, it's a quick, and anticlimactic stop.

Well worth the time to take the tour!
Very friendly & knowledgeable hosts and tour guides.
Beautiful view!!

The 717 foot high dam is impressive. They have nice grounds there and a decent visitor center. We took a limited tour that was informative. The experience helped me understand the dam's importance. I did not know that they use it to control the temperature of the Snake River! I saw it being built as a kid. Great to see the finished structure in use.

It's an amazing dam and you can just imagine how much water it's holding back..

Cindy, the guide, was so wonderful. Full of information. In the of middle dam... overlook was breath taking. The reservoir is a feat and beautiful to see and take part in its history.

A nice visitor center with friendly, knowledgeable staff.

It was my first time , to the actual reservoir, what an incredible site, what it took to build this structure, wonderful beauty
Terry Prangley — Google review
Visitor center was very pleasant. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the dam. Our kids are young and even really enjoyed playing upstairs and learning all about how the dam worked and the wildlife around the area.

Very cool experience. What an amazing structure! The only disappointment was we could not drive across it. The dam is 717 feet high!!
I've been to WERC twice, once back in 2010, and again in 2011 to volunteer. Sadly, since then, most of the wolves that were there have passed on, but Biologist Jeremy and the interns did an amazing job of keeping up the Center grounds. This year, they are in the process of moving to a new location at the intersection of Hwy 95 and Woodruff Rd, where they plan on expanding.

I went there for my birthday 3 years ago! Even though it was in the summertime, it was still quite cold being up in the mountains. Winchester is a tiny little town of a population at 350. You'll get a kick out of driving into town and seeing the Winchester Gun hanging from the two wood posts that greet you as you driving to town. Sanctuary was beautiful! Easy walkable trails but, I suggest you have a good pair of hiking boots and wear your denim pants. They have Decks that you can stand on and look down at the wolves if they're out and about. They asked you to be quiet and not to howl they have signs everywhere for that. The lodge itself was handmade by the researchers that live up there and rotate shifts I should say every few months. They have their campers in their tents apparently that they stay in during the touring months. If you like to get out in nature, and respect it, this is a nice place to go. Oh and pack a picnic lunch!
Leanne Catlow — Google review
We travelled out of our way to see this place, but left not seeing any wolves.
If you can imagine a zoo where your chances of seeing the wolves is somewhat low, then this is how this place is as an attraction. The three remaining wolves they have (the rest have died) are not wild (they were raised for a movie and here they are fenced in), but the fence is a ways from the lookout platform and they may not (likely are not) in the area of view anyway.
So it could be neat to see them in this natural setting, but bewared that this seems might not happen and you'll have to pay anyway.

This is such a beautiful place with so much local history. A little off the beaten path but well worth taking the time to check it out.. The architecture is magnificent and so is the workmanship of this historical building. I can just imagine what life was like for the pioneers and settlers back in the day. It's wonderful that it's been kept up and is still offering the same spiritual experience it has for so many people for so many years..
D E W Adventures — Google review
We spent our anniversary at the Spirit Center and enjoyed the quietness and leaving the rat race behind. We had a large room with bathroom, enjoyed the art room, hiked up the steep hill behind the monastery, and looked out on this vast prairie each morning and evening. Meals were in the monastery and were simple and very good.

Came here for a silent retreat. The whole experience was stunning, beyond words. This place is magical. The museum is well worth visiting, and the walking paths are beautiful!

We stopped here on our family vacation and had a great time. It’s not everyday you get to tour a place like this with the fam. We enjoyed walking around the grounds looking at the beautiful flowers. We also slipped into the chapel. Our 2 year old discovered his “outside” voice and decided to enjoy it in the chapel to hear the echo. We were greeted with love and warmth by a sister who loved children. Perfect!
The little museum was great as well and we enjoyed see all of the different displays. Thanks for a great experience!

This place is so peaceful and the sisters are so sweet . Don’t forget to go to the museum it is fantastic and the tour guide is so knowledgeable. It is so cool to see the history of this place. After the museum the cemetery and grotto should be on your list . Love this place so much !!!

A must see, not many left like this one. Great museum, cool nuns.
This is the place for a great jet boat ride through Hell’s Canyon on the Snake river to the dam. This 6 hr trip is just the right amount of time. Traveling through two class five white water it is thrilling and amazing. The boat is amazing and powerful. The captain was a pro with great experience of the river and insight to the history of where we journeyed. Whether you are 10 or 70 years of age you won’t be disappointed with Killgore Adventures.
Mike Axton — Google review
Took the Hell's Canyon Dam tour. Overall, it was okay. The tour would have been nice except for the people who were on the tour. The people in the boat with us were about 5 bratty kids...their grandma who complained the entire time, another couple who was clueless, and some other people who just hogged the front seats the entire time. The rapids would likely be a little more impressive if you were in a smaller boat and could feel them. When you're going down the rapids in such a big craft, even the biggest of rapids feels just like a little bump. The best kind of tour would be doing the jet boat up the river, and then a raft through some of the big rapids. But overall, if you only have 1 day...and you want to see this remote wilderness of the river...this is really the only way to do it.
Craig Lister — Google review
Great day on the river. Enjoyed the stops along the river at the old homesteads, seeing the wildlife, hearing the stories of how the locals survived in such a isolated place and the box lunch at the dam. The rapids were executed in a exciting manner, while feeling the boat was in the total control of the captain.

Such a great time with the #1 Adventure company in Idaho!!
I first visited here in 2017 and just had to return. The 22 mile drive is dramatically scenic and views at the visitor center are spectacular. I had an informative discussion with the hosts about water level and evacuation signs...LOL! It's worth the drive at least once in a lifetime.
Yo Sam — Google review
Great out of the way spot, one way in, one way out, if your there for a good hike, just take the path down river. It will go for many miles, with large canyons and some old home sites to find in the draws. The trail has great views from far above the water to waters edge, good fishing and swimming along the trail. Poison ivy and some rattlers Do reside along this route.
Neat little unknown spot that must be reached from the Ida side!
Christian Spencer — Google review
The hosts weren't friendly and definitely not inviting to their center... but in spite of that i have to give the 22 mile drive through hells canyon to the dam a 5 star... no other place like this on earth... its so big and amazing your mind can't even comprehend what you are looking at... it is a must see if your in the area...

Beautiful place. Lots of twists on the road up but take it slow and even on motorcycle the rocks and gravel are manageable. The view is worth it
Shellie Loop — Google review
This is a wonderous place to visit. If you ate lucky you may see Big Horn Sheep, Elk or Deer on your way in or out and while there you may spot some Bilky Goats on the canyon walls. The road in is 40 mph with some vert tight 20 mph corners and in places the canyon walls lean over the road way.
Ken Tracy — Google review
Worth the drive. Very scenic road leading to the dam/visitor’s center.
Probably one of our favorite stops!
Mark Smith — Google review
Great place and nice views. Great boating just before the dam. Boat tours come close to the dam on the other side. Long drive to get here and no services. It is not manned. But great place.
Murali Gopalakrishnan — Google review
Right by the dam. Halfway spot for our jet boat ride. Had a nice lunch. It could use just a little more shade. It was only 107 degrees, so more shade would be sweet.

We got to here by Jet Boat - small little visitor center at the base of Hells Canyon Dam
Went on a Thursday afternoon and had the place to ourselves, pretty awesome. Staff are super friendly, pool is clean and a great temp. This is a perfect place for families especially young kids. They energize the pool each morning to provide extra healing properties of you're into that sort of thing. We all felt pretty good after :)
Mike Kauspedas — Google review
Very nice hot springs. Simple design, super friendly staff, and great water. All co-ed family friendly establishment. No showers. Nursing room available. Gaming corner and lots of tables and benches to gather at. They also offer a basket check so your belongings don’t have to stay out in the open.
Anna Graetz — Google review
We had a wonderful time at the pool the last few days. The water is warm and it is an incredibly kid friendly establishment with a large pool for swimming and a smaller/warmer pool for soaking. We have been coming here since I was a kid and Jenny had some of the best customer service we have received when coming to Zims. She is very friendly and goes above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. She was very helpful finding a couple of sweatshirts we left behind and making arrangements for us to pick them up, when we called. 😀💕
Lori Neumann — Google review
Amazing hot springs. Well maintained and very inexpensive. Doesn't have the "rotten egg" smell at all. We love Zims!
Jennifer Singer — Google review
Wonderful spot with the friendliest people. Recently bought by the Nez Perce so older reviews may not be reflective of current status. This is definitely not a fancy resort so don't expect that, but it's tidy and the water is wonderful with no smell of sulfur. Considering the extremely reasonable price I really wonder what those below complaining about facilities were expecting. They're slowly putting money into it as they are supported by visitors, building out showers etc that were rusted out when they bought it. I was not charged for a basket so I have no clue what others were talking about.
The gentleman and his partner that run it is are reiki practitioners and work with the water if that's your sort of thing. It is alcohol free in the lodge and pools to maintain the positive environment. Temperatures were 88 °F and 104 °F when I was there in August.
Closed Mondays and Tuesdays to clean and it shows in a good way. Some algae buildup in the cooler pool but trivial compared to unmaintained springs. Camping is very affordable and plenty of it and while there's slight background noise from the highway 1/2 mile away but it's hardly noticable.
Lots of friendly locals and passers by to talk to. I just became a regular and will be stopping every time I'm driving past as it's just a couple minutes off the highway.
Daniel Newton — Google review
Would return!
Place is not fancy, definitely needs some money to fix it up but it was fine. Larry the person that works there was so nice. We only got into the hotter pool and didn’t see algae nor did it feel slimy.
Small town feel, not dirty just needs updating.

My husband and I took our 2 kids (4.5 & 8 months) yesterday for the first time. I had been there a long time ago, maybe 2008? It was a fun and very family friendly! My older son didn’t want to leave. The people running it are so friendly and accommodating. Opposite of what I’ve heard about Gold Fork, which was where we used to go all the time. We will definitely be back when we are in McCall again!
Kristen Hamilton — Google review
We took our extended family here and it was great for a large crowd with a wide age range. The young kids had enough room to swim and play basketball, the teens spent some time inside with the pool table, and the adults were able to sit & visit. We like that the warm pool and hot pool are attached so we could all visit even though we like different temperatures.
We really appreciated the bathrooms and changing rooms, along with the complimentary water and coffee.
Lara Aitchison — Google review
The pools were not very clean. We were offered a basket for clothing or bags then charged before we decided or told we would be. The location is ran down and needs some TLC could be restored quickly to its earlier days of glory.
B E — Google review
Temps about 104 and 90. Large soaking pool 2 feet deep and large play pool up to 9 feet deep. The pools could use a facelift, but they functioned nicely. Great dip after rafting in the cold water in Riggins.
Sunny Austin — Google review
G-maps thinks this is a hotel, NOT. But there Is a nice big seasonal campground priced very reasonably between the river and the parking area for the Hot Spring outdoor Pools.
Also a nice big rustic log building with plenty of seating and tables, arcade game area and billiards with restrooms and changing stalls. Places to stow your street clothes or check them in at the counter in baskets; snacks and drinks available to buy too.
Run by very nice people, it's great for families and groups of any size or solo. There's even a private nursing/ cry room and a cozy couch area near the fireplace.
Best swim and soaking option for many miles around!
Russ Mattox — Google review
The day we went, the big pool was 94 degrees and the small pool was 106. Temps were perfect for the adults in the group and my toddler was comfortable the whole time as well. We had a great time. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing. This is going to be one of our regular family activities!
This campground is really nice. We have a 39’ class A which fit nicely in the spacious spot. Each spot is pretty private with large hedges separating them. It has water and electric and a dump station. We were able to have campfires. Overall nice place.
Jennifer Lindskoog — Google review
Maybe a 3.5 instead of 4 but only because it’s a heat wave and the water is super gross. The campsites are nice. A bit close if you have someone next to you but the space behind you is a lot, it’s good. For $37 for full hookups it’s decent. The showers are locker room level. Not the worst, they’re OK. Would like to come here when the water is flowing more and not like 10’ stretch of sludgy algae. Pretty open spaces though, trees near the picnic tables is really nice. Pretty quiet out here. Very scenic hills surrounding is quite lovely.
Megan Petersen — Google review
A clean park, nice spot to stretch your legs, but no real trails. It looks like a peaceful place to camp. There's a nice boat dock on the Snake River and a nice view. They also have a fenced in area as a dog park.
Melanie KRD — Google review
The state park here is awesome, granted most of the vegetation is native (sagebrush, sand, natural grasses). There are numerous camp sites, walking paths, restrooms. Boating, fishing or just enjoying the wildlife that frequents the park you have plenty to do. Even your fur babies have a large fully enclosed area to run, play and explore off leash. It makes it nice to not have them tied up the whole time you are there. Just be respectful so we all can have this privilege to use. Not many places have an off leash area that keeps your pets safe.
Richard Scherer — Google review
Beautiful spot right on the river. Lots of bird watching to be had. Two loops to choose from, Brownie and Catfish. Brownie offers more privacy between sites, and more options for larger rigs. Catfish, which was closed when I stayed in late March, felt a little more like sardine camping. Lots of full services sites, fire pits, and free showers.
Howie Outerbridge — Google review
Hot. But the whole world is getting warmer. Big campsite. Beautiful river. Dump station clean and orderly. Staff are all nice. Quiet. Cannot hear Highway. Can hear occasional train. Cools down at night. Cool mornings. Hot afternoons. I love this country, personally. No humidity. 110 here feels like 95 in Illinois.
Jon Nadler — Google review
Beautiful park! I have to keep my dogs on the paths due to sand burrs but wow, what a gorgeous place to spend a few nights!
Jenny Yasi — Google review
Great park next to the water. Facilities were excellent. Self check-in was super convenient. Something was in bloom during my May '23 visit, and the air was filled with sweet perfume. Though it is close to a major road, I found the place peaceful. The shower was better than average, with two nozzles.
Kenneth Corley — Google review
The camp hosts were awesome! Bill treats every kid like a grandkid and Becky was awesome enough to drive me into Ontario to get a part for our truck. The river was low but still nice to take the kayaks out and catch some catfish. The showers run hot but are clean. Farewell Bend is a great jump off for a day trip to Craters of the moon. We also went swimming at Givens Hot Springs. If we had more time we would have spent a day at the Wahooz Family Fun Center. Definitely scheduling that in for our next trip this way. We had a fabulous time.
Ronda Coltrin — Google review
Beautiful views and lots of spots. We were able to drive in on a Saturday and get an available site. Paved pads, bathhouses, large spacious sites near the river, shade trees, and nicely maintained. The only downfall was there are no trash receptacles near the sites. You have to go to the exit where the dump-station is located.
Kristene Heeney — Google review
The spaces are nice, showers hit and miss being decently cleaned or a mess. 3 summers we have stayed here and always says the irrigation is being updated. Some watering for the trees and shrubs would be beyond beneficial and mowing would make it a much better place. Drought or no drought trees require water to stay alive. Most are dieing and breaking.
Amy Turner — Google review
The scenery was beautiful here. Beware. We were camping near the lake on catfish loop and the sprinkler leaked and flooded us all around the camper. Also, there are a ton of prickly things in the grass, don't go barefoot!
Full-service ski resort draws crowds with trails, terrain parks & backcountry tours.
Amazing mountain. Came from North Carolina and everyone here was super friendly and helpful to any questions I had. Plenty of terrain for all skill levels and the snow quality on the groomers was better than I have ever had. It hadn't snowed for a couple of days and there was still fresh powder all over. This will likely be an annual trip for us.
Matthew Seel — Google review
Been boarding here for a decade. The snow is good! The lines are usually short. It has gotten busier over the last few years. Best tree skiing around.

The skiing here was great in March! Went to the Friday night concert on the lawn and it was fantastic! Great resort!
Ryan Davis — Google review
I have been quite a few snow resorts and this one is a good pick. The snow was well groomed. The lounge was warm with good food and drinks. I would say this mountain is more for Skiers. Snowboarding was fun but most of the hills are rough with moguls. Was a great time with lots of fun with the friends.

We did the 1/2 day snowmobile tour. We had an amazing guide, Anita, who took us all around the mountain and showed us some beautiful views. I highly recommend it.
Julie K — Google review
No overnight parking? We asked permission to park overnight and the only employee we could find said due to construction we would be asked to leave. He came off as asking to overnight at a ski resort was a completely foreign idea to him? It was 6:00 on a Friday? And a massive empty parking lot (with a pretty view) far from where construction was taking place. Like do they close the entire parking lot on the weekends? So we went 1/8 mile down the hill and parked at the trail head for the waterfall hike for the evening. Didn’t go back up the hill thanks to grumpy bearded gen x mt bike fella, plenty of other trails to explore. We got the impression summer was not a priority for this business un like every ski hill we’ve ever visited in the summer. But good to see them re investing with an on going improvement project as the place is showing its age.
Mikecolesvids — Google review
If you like ski resorts where the groomed runs are suggestions and not the requirements, this is your resort. Every blue had a parallel black through the trees. Much of the green runs are in a specific area with the separate Bear chair pass, so it's easy to stay skiing within groups of the same ability.
Shaun McCurdy — Google review
Super friendly staff and overall laid back family vibe. Good view at the top. The blue runs can be a bit steeper than other resort ratings.

Brundage is always a special place to ride. Low crowds, good food, and good vibes. I took some buddies from the east coast up there and we basically lapped hidden valley for 4 days straight. Some absolutely insane and incredible terrain back there. On our final day I did something I haven’t done with the resort in the past, I got a guided snowmobile tour on their 850 summit fleet. Our guide was Chad and he was nothing short of awesome. Took us of trail, hill climbing, and lake racing. We had a couple guys that had never ridden before and he was able to get them mostly keeping up with the rest of us. If you’re planning a trip to this mountain I would definitely look into the snowmobile rides. It may be a little spendy but it is worth every dollar
Matt McGraw — Google review
After a nice snowstorm the pow was everywhere. Lots of tree skiing as well as fun groomers. The yurt at the top of the Bear chair has a good selection of beers and some great chili and chili dogs. Music was playing at just the right volume so you could hear conversations. Good music selection to get into the skiing vibe! Love coming to Brundage Mountain.

My family and I have been coming to Brundage for the last 15 years and it’s our favorite ski resort in the Boise area. We love Brundage!! However, within this last year I have noticed a few things that could use improvement. We purchased the 4 packs this year and with the RFID cards you have to go to the lodge, wait in line, and pull up and email on your phone to give the employee a code so that you can redeem one of your tickets. It seems like it would be easier for everybody if you could ski right to the lift, and as soon as the lifty scans your RFID card if it just goes into the system automatically, automatically redeeming one of your tickets and keeping track of it in the system. Then there would be less lines for tickets, and it would be faster and easier in the morning.

Payette Lake is a stunning body of water surrounded by dense forests and towering mountains. This glacial lake boasts sandy beaches, fishing opportunities, and boat rentals for visitors to enjoy. McCall, a charming mountain town located just two hours away from Boise, serves as the perfect base for exploring the area's natural wonders. With uncrowded trails, hot springs along the mountainside, and raging rivers to experience nearby, travelers can make the most of their vacation without spending too much time in transit.
This lake is a beautiful gem in Valley County Idaho. The lake is over 390 ft deep and is shaped like a stretched out horseshoe. The peninsula that juts out into the lake is the Ponderosa State Park.
The lake was formed thousands of years ago by a Glacier and sits over the top of what used to be a volcano, which helps to lend to the depths of this majestic and magical beauty.
The north end of the lake is the deepest and the narrows, a large deposit of boulders, separated the north end of the lake from the southern end and is quite shallow until you get past Duck Bay.
Navigation at night isn't recommended unless you know this area well as it has sank boats in the past as some of the gigantic rocks sit just below the surface.
Payette Lake has numerous islands for no bigger than it is. Just past the Narrows to the North is the first, Cougar Island, and is inhabited and totally off the grid. They had to barge the materials out in order to get the project finished. There's a few more islands to the North and east of this attraction. Some are private, so please be mindful when exploring them.
There is a legend of a Loch Ness type monster named Sharlie that lives in the lake and hides in the volcanic tubes that help feed this alpine lake.
This was a sacred place for the Nez Perce that walked these grounds hundreds of years ago, and it's plain to see why.
As always, leave it better than you found it. It took millions of years to make and enjoy 😉.
R. Scherer — Google review
Beautiful place in every season. In the Summer you can go swimming, boating, and even tour the lake with a pedal party boat. I went to Payette Lake just yesterday during the McCall Winter Carnival. Right now, the lake is completely frozen over and hundreds of people are taking walks on it, ice skating on it, and sledding on it. Payette Lake is wonderful in every season!

My favorite lake to visit. The views are breathing no matter where you are and the beaches have soft sand which makes for hours of entertainment for the kids to play. The town of McCall is filled with yummy eateries, unique shops and other random fun things to do! They were nice enough to fit us in last minute on Sunday. The pool is nice and fed with the hot spring water. Bring your own towels and also water and drinks to keep hydrated. The price is so reasonable for the pool! $10/ p for 2 hrs!

This place doesn't seem like much from the approach, but once inside it is beautiful. Everything was so clean. Water felt amazing. Prices are super reasonable. It's a soaking pool, not a swimming pool so I wouldn't recommend for families with little ones who want to run and play. There is also a ramped entry for anyone with limited strength or mobility to get in. We had made reservations for two 2-hours sessions but were so utterly relaxed and sleepy after one that there was no way we could do two. And the heated changing rooms were SO nice after getting out of the water on a cold day. All in all we had a wonderful time and definitely plan to go back. We would also consider staying in one of the RV spaces or even renting one of their cabins. The staff was incredibly friendly as well. You can tell there's great pride in ownership just by looking at the place. Can't wait to go back.

The park has miles of wooded trails and bike paths that lead to rocky beaches with stunning views across Payette Lake. Visitors can enjoy picnics, swimming, and panoramic views from the lookout at Osprey Point. The park offers something for everyone, including tent camping sites, cabins or RVs spots in clean grounds.

Ponderosa is an awesome place to camp! They have three loops connected to the main road (aspen loop, blackberry loop, and chokecherry loop) blackberry is my person favorite! There’s a volleyball net, a lot of deer that are comfortable with you getting close, and multiple pathways for walks and bike rides! Our family put our bikes in the back of our truck and took them to the top of the scenic drive and rode them down as well and it was fantastic. It’s mostly downhill so you can just enjoy the ride! The lake there is fantastic as well! There’s multiple docks to sit on and plenty of beach space to play on! There’s very kind workers that help out too! In town there’s a restaurant called my fathers places that is a must-go, it’s amazing! We love ponderosa!

Great Lake views. Nice looking beaches (we were here in October, no swimming!). Great hiking trails, we did 6+ miles each of two days. Bike trails looked great.

Such a beautiful spot to camp. The lake is clear and gorgeous and the grounds are clean as well. Plenty of little spots to camp, either in tents, cabins, or your RVs. The day use area is big and open too.

Absolutely beautiful!!! Our family enjoys going for drives and enjoy the outdoors. We ended up just driving here just to check it out and it was worth the drive. Gorgeous scenery and lots of deer everywhere.

One of our most favorite spots to camp, tidy and generous camping spots, clean bathrooms, showers, electricity, next to a beautiful lake, close to town, what more can you ask for?

So fun to take the kids to... go here to the state park side vs in town to get to the beach it's still right by eachother but much better views and more space for the kids to play. Going to the beach is just one of many things to do here.

Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting McCall, one of the best views of the lake. Many trails around different environments if you are looking for a hike, or if you are just looking for the views you can drive straight to the overlook. Cool view of most the lake from the top of a basalt cliff formed by 15,000 year old lava flow.

This park is really wonderful. We try to go every summer and stay at the cabins, but it can be hard to book them. It usually requires booking exactly 6 months in advance at midnight for holiday weekends. There is nice beach shoreline right behind the visitor center. There are a lot of really great biking and hiking trails all throughout the peninsula that this park occupies. Wildlife are common: foxes, deer, woodpeckers, squirrels, etc. The deer seem a bit too comfortable with being near humans and vehicles, as seen in the pictures.
Tanner Jones — Google review
The park was $7 to enter. There were signs saying no dogs on the beach (though looked like most people ignored that). Bathrooms were nice. Lots of benches and trees and a covered table area.
We didn't stay for camping since online had kinda high pricing, but the campgrounds looked ok with lots of trees.
Sign past the campgrounds on scenic road that RVs and trailers not recommend past that point, and I agree. We had a small RV so made it all the way around, but a bigger rv or one with a trailer, or even a little heavier traffic would have been an issue with the sharp turns and skinny areas of road. Saw a couple deer though. One buck had fun just walking in the middle of the road keeping everyone going 1mph.

Ponderosa State Park is AWESOME! If you're in the area and you don't visit, you are missing out. There are so many places to hike/mountain bike/ paddle. There is something for everyone! The facilities are clean and the staff are wonderful which adds a nice touch to the experience. Highly highly recommend! And make sure you swing by the lookout.

Second time now to enjoy Ponderosa State Park and what a great park. The park itself has many full hook-up RV sites with ample space so your not feeling close to your neighbors. The Park Host was busy blowing pine needles off sites as we arrived. Off season is a nice time to come as you don’t need any reservations, but it is strictly first-come find a site. Ample trails for hiking and biking everywhere!

Nice park! Couldn't believe it snowed, sleeted, rained, and got a few hours of sunshine during the 3rd week of June over a 4 day stay. Only had water and power... no sewer, but there was a dump station.

We hiked Fox Run and Huckleberry loop. It was 5.43 miles and not too many bugs. Lots of shade, but some open sunny spots, too.
Four-season ski resort offering sophisticated accommodations, including a lodge, chalets & cottages.
Great place! Accommodations were outstanding - they take great care. So convenient to walk a few feet from the room to the ski lift, enjoyed the tap house as well as all other restaurant facilities. We are going to make it an annual vacation destination.

It’s nice don’t get me wrong but a lil too built up for such a small mountain and yet the restaurant/bar is not open on the top. Seems like they want you in the village, I want to be on the mountain with convenient restrooms. There is a port a potty options but REALLY for such a fancy village…. you can do better there too. They could do a better job at signage….. where to get tickets, restrooms etc.
I will say that the lift operators ARE AMAZING!!!
I love it when you go to a resort and they make you feel that you’re not an inconvenience and want to have fun.
If you’re a tree skier you will like it, great opportunity for that.

Nice mountain to ski through dense footrests on nicely groomed trails. I didn't stay at the resort so no info about that. Would like to see nicer bathroom facilities on mountain. Supposedly will have mid mountain bar and restaurant open in 2024. Could use base lodge close to snow for day skiers to enjoy.

My wife and I just stayed five nights at Tamarack for the first time and couldn't be more impressed. The 20 inches of fresh snow made the skiing fantastic. It amazes me that more people don't know about this place. It's as nice as anywhere you can ski. The village is modern and well kept, the staff is friendly and welcoming. Our condo was clean and well appointed. It is truly a value which is something rare for this type of quality. With the future expansion in the works, Tamarack will give Sun Valley a run for their money.

We stayed in a studio in the village and it was beautiful. It was clean, well appointed and the kitchen had everything you could possible need. Extremely pleasant experience. We took the lift up and had a blast biking down. I highly recommend it!!!

I have been here in February twice and the conditions have been fantastic. The mountain has a great variety and some 4+ mile long lines. The village is great although only 2 dinner restaurants. Seven Devils (good bar food and great drinks) and The Reserve (high end but casual steak house that books out so reservations are recommended). We took take out from here multiple nights and brought it back to our room. We stayed in Rosebury 304. These condos are top of the line. The finishes and furnishing are incredible. We love it here. The only desires would be for a sit down breakfast spot. Another nice dinner spot. And for the coffee and ice cream shops to stay open until 9pm.

This place is incredibly beautiful place that is developing greatly. There is still quite a bit of construction going on, but it is a ski resort that looks great!
In time, this is going to develop into something to rival Sun Valley, but really nice and relatively unknown for now.
I can’t wait to ride my bike there this summer.

We had an excellent stay at Tamarack. Things were winding down for the season. The resort is immaculate and the people are extremely friendly just as advertised. The mountain was in great condition as far as the skiing goes. We will come back during the busier season to get the full Tamarack experience.
The drive up from Boise was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever experienced.

Attended a wedding, and the chapel and wedding site outside were five stars all the way! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I gave three stars because of the lobby restroom. ⭐👎We had driven up 2hrs from Boise (which is what most people would do) and had to change in the restroom (we weren't staying there). The lobby restrooms left a lot to be desired! One sad star... Burnt out light bulbs not changed, so it was very dark, only one sink, with nowhere to put down your purse or makeup bag or anything, and two small toilet stalls, neither of which had a lock on the door. Not up to resort standards of anywhere else I've been.

They've created a neat experience with the village area at the resort. Awesome restaurants and shops and cafes on the main level and a nice Bavarian vibe to the cobblestone streets and the building exteriors.

Love Tamarack will definitely be back. My group of 9 had a blast snowmobiling off trail. I took a 3hour snowboard class with Tucker, he was great. I definitely felt I got my moneys worth. He knows the mountain and can adapt to how you’re are learning. He identified I had the basics down and got me in a direction to excel me on the greens. The entire staff as a whole is exceptional and friendly. Thanks J

I was a first time skier a couple weeks ago. I decided to take an adult ski lesson with Butter. He was fantastic. I came in timid and he was so encouraging & an obviously well seasoned instructor. I came out of the lesson feeling accomplished & more confident. Butter made it easy to start a new sport. Definitely recommend!

We always enjoy skiing Tamarack. We usually bring our own food and haven't found an indoor area to eat.... So far it hasn't been a problem because the weather has been beautiful everytime we have gone, but it would be nice to have an indoor seating/eating area.
Anne Gray — Google review
Tamarack Resort is a real estate venture with a ski area attached to it. The terrain is decent, the lifts are modern and the views are spectacular. However, Tamarack has broken the social contract that every other ski resort I’ve ever visited has upheld… That is, a lift ticket at Tamarack does not include a shared indoor space for guests to simply warm-up and rest. There’s no base lodge, instead there’s a series of interconnected “restaurants” bedecked with abrasive signs warning guests not to eat their own food.
Instead of building a ski destination with a nice base lodge, Tamarack built a faux European village which is architecturally interesting but offers nothing for the basic needs of their guests. Need a place to adjust your boots and dry off your gloves? You’ll have to go order a taco. Does grandma want to rest for a while and read her book? She can head for the steak house. Do the kids need to warm up a little and use the potty? There’s an impressive tap house with self-serve beers that might fit the bill.
On the drive in you’ll pass a multitude of real estate billboards, as you head to the ticket dispenser you’ll pass the sales office, and when you get to the lift you’ll be greeted by a sign restricting half of the gates to an upgrade club. Personally, I prefer feeling like I’m part of a ski community than feeling like a skier commodity.

Our family visit to the Four Rivers Cultural Center was nothing short of fantastic! With a 9 year old and a 6 year old in tow, we were looking for an engaging and educational experience in the Treasure Valley, and this place exceeded our expectations.
From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an array of fascinating exhibits that piqued our curiosity about the local history and culture. The center's diverse collection, ranging from art to historical artifacts, provided a comprehensive and captivating overview of the region's heritage.
What stood out was how the exhibits were tailored to all ages, making it a hit with our children. They were completely engrossed in the interactive displays, which not only entertained them but also instilled a sense of learning and discovery. It's not every day that you find a place that can capture the attention of both adults and young children so effectively.
The Four Rivers Cultural Center is a hidden gem in the Treasure Valley, offering a perfect blend of history and interaction that educates and entertains. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this cultural haven promises a memorable experience for families seeking to explore and learn together. We can't wait to return and uncover more of what this wonderful center has to offer!

Had to call 3 times before receptionist picked up. When I requested to rent a room I gave it in writing and verbally and quote was still incorrect. It took multiple emails and people to correct a time error. The event coordinator was impossible to contact and when contacted by email only, she did not answer any of my questions just replied with the same information I had been provided in the beginning. Very confusing, and no one seemed to have answers to help me.

The seating was good. The show (comedians) was very good. BUT there were no refreshments. NOTHING. Not even a machine to buy a bottle of water or soda. They are missing out on a significant revenue stream and making guests feel the need to bring their own.
Series of naturally heated pools with mineral-rich waters, tucked away amid pine forest.
What a neat little piece of heaven in the woods. It was our first time visiting and it was delightful. The drive up was nice. The dirt forest road was a little rough at some parts but easily managed even in our Toyota Camry.
The weather was pretty hot so we were grateful that this hit spring had several tiered pools, each descending pool was a little cooler than the one above it. What a great concept and design. It allowed us to navigate pools based on our desired level of comfort. The polls also provide a fun variety of design. Large upper pool, a sand filled pool surrounded by soft white sand, small lower pools with stone seats built into the pools. It was spectacular.
They allow you to bring in food for lunch, just don't eat in the pool. There are several tables with umbrellas to use so there was no need to eat anywhere else.
There are changing rooms available in one of the yurts. The main yurt is the entrance, has a small snack selection available as well as drinks, and offers hats and sarongs for sale. I was wishing they had stickers for sale since we like to buy stickers of places we visit, that we like, to add to our converted shuttle bus.
They do require proof of COVID-19 vaccination and a photo ID. The photo ID is not required for children. Photos of your vaccination card can be used if you forget your card, but I'd recommend just bringing it. At first I was curious about the requirement but after visiting I understood. It is run by only a couple people, some are more advanced in years. None of them want to get sick because of the danger but also because of they all got sick they would lose income from having to close down until they were well again. They owners are wonderful. Respect their needs and wishes. They deserve kindness and understanding.
The fee to enter is $10/person. Parking is about 100 yards from the entrance. Handicapped parking is right near the entrance yurt.
If you're in the McCall or Donnelly area, make the effort to plan a stop for a few hours at this beautiful gem hidden in the woods.

This hot spring gem is hiding in the forest. The establishment is very clean and much easier to access than the nature hot spring spots. Visited on March 2022, with fee $10 per person. Close on Tuesday, other days hour is noon to 8pm. Might have hard time to reach on phone, but front desk lady is very friendly. The road leads to the hot spring is very bumpy, could be changeling with sedan.

We've been coming to GFHS for years and we love it, it's relaxing and absolutly beautiful. We enjoyed every aspect of our visit except the owner (or the lady at the front desk, not sure if she was the owner or not). We've taken our boys all over with us and we've never been met with such a cold, unwelcoming greeting. She coldly lectured my 13 and 15 year old boys as if they were undisciplined miscreants the moment we walked in the door. They hadnt even said anything. She told them they needed to grow up. The next family tried to walk in and she literally asked them to leave and close the door until she was done. Then the next family came in for their lecture. We were told by the other family she demanded the name of their 2 year old son and kept calling his name and telling him to pay attention to her. It made all of us pretty uneasy. I love the location. And the expectations for behavior aren't unreasonable, but they should hire a kind and warm host or hostess to welcome guests and explain expectations in a better way. It truly had a negative affect on our whole experience.
Enjoy the beauty of gold forks, just be warned about the greeter!

Visited this place today around 12:30. On our way here we read a bunch of reviews and they made it sound like the owner was a monster with super strict rules. In reality though none of it really applied. The short list of rules we got when we came here was: Keep it quiet/no horseplay/no throwing sand. That's pretty much it. They didn't ask for any covid vaccine cards. There was also a "no alcohol" sign posted at the entrance but I saw a few bud cans in the trash. You were allowed to bring in your snacks/drinks as long as you didn't consume anything in the actual pools. Tons of tables and chairs around.
The pools were amazing. Everything was really clean and it looks like the owner really cares about the place. Would come here again if we're ever in the area.

It was amazing with all the pools you can choose from! They need to update their website because it says the Vax is required and it no longer is.

Nice little place. $10 anyone, no more kids price.
No need for any ID. Cash or check only there. All pools were open when we went today.
One small very hot, then a bigger hotter down from the very hot pool. Then a med warmer pool with sand in the bottom and then three smaller ones that get cooler as you go down.
Kid friendly, just not be rowdy. Can be a little slick on deck with frozen water on them.
It might be a good idea to bring shoes to go from the changing room to the pool as it's very cold

If you go, call ahead to see if the road has been graded recently. That will cut drive time in half and reduce the need to purchase a new vehicle on your way out… also if you want to speak above a whisper go before 4pm when joy is permitted at the pools. I dont recommend bringing children unless they went to finishing school and can walk calmly like they have a book on their head.
Also bring cash, as there are no other forms of current earthly payment accepted. However I bet they would trade rare crystals for entrance.
Arrive earlier than you desire so you have time to sit for the pre-pre-entrance video explaining the rules in 3 languages repeated 6 times… this is an exaggeration. There one no video, 1 language, no sitting- but the rules being repeated 6 times is true. Rules included (actual words that were said to us)
“Do not touch the sand, play with the sand, do not climb the rocks, do not touch the fences or climb on the fences- there is no screaming, yelling, or loud talking. No splashing, you are to be calm and quiet this is quiet time, you have to stay with your child at all times, they can not enter the upper hot springs, they must remain with you, you can not leave them unattended. You will be asked to leave if they are loud, or splash.” Repeated 6 times. *Because we had an 8 year old with us after 4pm and didn’t stop at the fork in the road to read the rules. Kind of distracted by the axle grabbing pot holes we were navigating to avoid being stuck 40 minutes away from the nearest neighbor in winter while dressed in bathing suits.
Be prepared to be ushered out before closing… (actually that was the kindest the host were to us… )🤔 was upon us exiting the premises.
We passed another family in another SUV on the road. The “pre pre entrance” instructions must have deterred them from even entering the hot springs because though they survived the drive up they opted NOT to come in!!! They were all adults with no children in tow, and were also greeted outside before they could even make it inside to pay they got a spiel about how they were closing in an hour.
While I was grateful the host let in the 8 year old during “quiet time” so we could stay and try to enjoy the 40 minutes we had left to sit quietly. The surroundings were quite beautiful, the adult pool was the hottest water but we only enjoyed it a few minutes before departed due to fear of leaving a child unattended (there were 4 teenagers that could have watched her).
Needless to say, while we enjoyed our time with our out of town friends, (we left with jokes and stories that will become memories forever.) We were not relaxed. We were on edge.
I can see how this would be enjoyable under the right circumstances but that wasn’t our experience. And to top it off one of the staff was smoking outside. (while signs were posted that there was no smoking) this was a “clean air zone” so no idling vehicles were permitted hence they have you park a 1/10 of a mile down the hill and you are to walk up to the springs after dropping off your party.
Enjoy the hot springs! Lol

Firstly, yes, they are requiring everyone have a vaccination card. However, this means that if you’re traveling in the area and DO have a vaccine card you get a beautiful, clean, natural hot springs almost to yourself! The staff was constantly working to make sure all of the walkways were clear and ice-free in the cold temperatures. We were allowed to bring in a couple bottles of water. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The change room is heated and private. Overall a very pleasant experience and we will be back!

We stayed in Cascade during a cold front, unfortunately. Gold Fork Hot Springs saved the day! We had so much fun soaking in the hot springs. We had to stay in the top two (two warmest) springs because of the weather, but I would love to come back in the heat of the summer and have a picnic at the sandy pool! The water had lots of hair and wasn't the cleanest.. but you gotta deal with the bad when it comes your way...

Gold Fork Hot Springs was great! It was easy to get to, park and not a terrible walk to find the pools. However I wouldn't suggest it for those with disabilities or not steady on their feet as there were 2 steep hills to go up and down with little traction.
On our venture down the hill we ended up finding another separate pool from the main hot springs and had the whole thing to ourselves for awhile. We were told it was shallower than the other pools but the privacy and peacefulness was nice, since the the main hot springs was quite busy that day. Which we somewhat expected since it was Labor Day.

Fabulous!!! The lady at check-in was very friendly and social. Happy to explain the accommodations and what is exceptable and what isn't. I'm sure because someone has done it before. They have an extremely nice clean place. Very large hot pool with cooler pools if you wish. Small but nice changing area and 3 honey buckets that are well maintained. Such an amazing experience. I'm excited to go back.

You should call ahead to see what the roads are like because when we went, we didn't have a real four wheel drive and the dirt road was really really bumpy with lots of big holes.
Plus, they only take cash and checks. No debit/credit cards accepted. Thank goodness we had our checkbook because we didn't have enough cash on us. The cost is $10 per person. There is a 2 hour swimming limit, which helps keep the pools from overcrowding.
You have to walk a little ways on an uneven dirt road from where parking is allowed. So, I would say that it is not very handicap friendly.
Great scenery, and it was worth the drive. The pools and walking areas are kept very clean.
Outside individual plastic bathrooms 🚻 available. Men's and women's dressing was in a large round yurt tent.

Great place to visit if the roads aren't too bad. Escape to the hot springs. Water is various temperatures by pool. Semiautomatic control of flow, changing area, limited food options however. Make sure you have 4x4 vehicle in the winter months as the road gets pretty bad sometimes.

This is a desert landscape, and as such, the park tends to have native plants that can withstand the dry, harsh environment of this Owyhee River Canyon landscape.
With the years of drought, it's taken its toll on what the park used to be. The landscape has changed, and what was once a shoreline of 8 - 10 feet are now hundreds.
The sadness in this is it will take years of great snow pack for it to be able to return to what it once was.
For now, nature is reclaiming what was once hers. The beauty is just different and still majestic if you like solitude and quiet.
As always, leave it better than you found it, and enjoy 😉.

I’ll start the with good. The lake itself is absolutely beautiful. Went on a 3 day fly fishing trip and it’s just miles upon miles of great fishing spots. Water is freezing, but it felt refreshing with how hot it was.
We camped at the state park campground and this is where the bad comes in. We did have hook ups so that part I’ll say was good, but the spot had goat heads EVERYWHERE and I am not exaggerating when I say the flies were EVERYWHERE. If we weren’t fishing all day then I would have left that spot right away. Also, Oregon still had their burn ban in place so we couldn’t have a fire. Didn’t see anything on the website about a burn ban so I was pretty disappointed. All in all, great place for fishing but not a great place for camping.

Nice and secluded. Beautiful views of the geology and the stars. Park Rangers are awesome. Caught a few large trout in the river downstream. Will return.

We took an autumn drive on Owyhee Lake Road through the State Park. Awesome drive with terrific scenery. We walked a few short hikes to enjoy the fall colors and the views around the lake. Looking forward to coming back in the spring.

This is a great place to catch crappie as long as the water is warm enough. Early in the season it looks pretty bleak but with the proper amount of rain in the watershed to the south it fills up. My wife and I have been fishing here for decades.

Drove over from Caldwell which was about a 1.5 hr drive. The drive through the canyon was beautiful with the landscape in continual transition from harsh high-plain desert to lush riverside parking. The road leads to some breathtaking views!

Absolutely beautiful! Not one sighting of any rattlesnakes! Serene, breathtaking, and definitely worth the time to get there! I can't wait to go back. The park was clean and the hosts were a delight!

The good: bathroom was clean, not smelly, and had hand sanitizer.
Bad: parking is a little bit of a walk from the water and there isn't water at the picnic tables.
The water is big enough for lots of boats. You can ski, tube, wake board or surf. Many people also fish. Crappie is super common to catch. We've caught over 50 in a day before.
This is one of the best vineyards to visit in the area. Great views, generous pours and really tasty wines. The plate of food you can get is really tasty too. Be sure to make a reservation.

When we moved from Colorado to Southwest Idaho, we wine tasted at as many wineries as possible over the period of several years. I’ve settled on two wineries as my favorites. They are within 4 miles of each other.
Koenig Vineyards Provides an excellent wine-tasting experience. They have a spacious patio. This allows you to bring a meal up to enjoy with your wine or your wine tasting. The Koenig location is surrounded by open country and vineyards. The view is outstanding and sometimes breathtaking.
The wine-tasting experience is impeccable. There is plenty of comfortable seating inside and outside. Reservations are needed for large parties. The very helpful and friendly staff (Carolyn, Katrina, Tami and others) can provide tasting and pairing recommendations, You get to choose from five different wines during the tasting. They have an excellent selection of carefully and artfully created (often) prize-winning white, red, and ice wines to try. For anyone that likes port they currently have a port wine available to taste. Their red blends, Cabernets, Syrahs, Malbecs, dry reislings and other wines have made me into a permanent wine club member.
For a great time wine tasting, I strongly recommend Koenig as a perfect location to relax, socialize and sample wine. Oh yes, you can order a tray of food to eat with your wine.

We had family visiting from our of state that enjoy wine so we wanted to bring them to a winery in idaho. A friend recommended us "the one with the tower." So we found Koenig. The tasting was a great price and all the wines were great! The staff was very knowledgeable too.
The location is gorgeous! The architecture is pleasant and the stone porch area in front of the entrance is beautifull and a wonderful place to have lunch if you bring one, as long as it isn't too cold and windy like it was when we went. The tower structure has a breathtaking view overlooking the vineyards. If you frame the camera just right it literally looks like a painting!
There's a nice lawn area on the right side of the building with more seating areas and tables and a cool, large chess board!
They have a spirits distillery too, which wasn't open at the time we went, not until a month from our visit.
Overall we had lovely experience, tasted great wine, bought some wine and spirits, and had good company.
We're so glad we chose Koenig.

Such an underrated winery, amazing location, people, and wine. It's unbelievable a whole 5 glass flight is only $8. On top of that, Arisbe, who took amazing care of us, gave us a full glass for celebrating my girlfriends birthday!

This was recommended by a good friend that appreciates good wine. The interesting point - this is both a winery and a distillery. We went for the wine tasting but will be back to sample the distilled spirits. The wine, in general, was good and very good. We especially liked one white and one red. We bought a case of the red and a few bottles of the white. The venue is very tasteful, and a great spot for an afternoon brunch.
I come here every valentines with my cousins for our Galentines celebration and they always make sure we are laughing and having a good time. Funnest place !! Our sever Ben is always amazing! I highly recommend, and when you go make sure you request them to open your champagne with an axe!

Went to Sawtooth Winery over the weekend to try their mimosa flight. I heard they change the flavors monthly & this month, or in March, was Orange Creamsicle, Limoncello, and Strawberry Cheesecake. These were amazing!! Presentation was beautiful as well! The Orange creamsicle was kind of hard to drink at first because of the whipped cream, but it definitely gave it the best flavor adding that onto it. The strawberry cheesecake mimosa tasted just like cheesecake and I loved the fresh strawberries added into this! We also ordered the Gourmet Cheese board with added cured meats & a Veggie board. Both boards were fancy in design and great to snack on while sipping on these mimosas and hanging out with friends. I loved the variety of veggies on the veggie board. Service was great. It was a fun spot to go check out and I’m hoping to make another trip there in April for April Mimosas.

We were visiting this winery today with friends. The service was outstanding! Even though they were busy, everyone came to greet us and talk to us. I just want to thank this amazing staff. Faith signed us up for a membership, Tara poured our wine and kept us informed of the great wines and food. Ben signed us up for a reservation even though the site said they were full. Alexa manages the team and does a fantastic job and Pam kept us smiling. I am telling you, this is a great experience. Where else can you go and get this kind of service. We stopped in (without a reservation) and were able to get a table, but this place stayed busy the entire time we were there. This was a great place to visit. I got the cheese plate and added meat, and there was plenty to share. Me wife had the red wine flight, and friend had the white. They both loved all of the glasses. We started the day off at the top of the mountain @ Ste Chapelle which was nice but then we made our way back down to Sawtooth where the vibe, service, and views were much more enjoyable. This was our second time visiting and we enjoyed mimosa's and ended our day with a couple of Chambongs! This was the most amazing experience! At first, I'll be honest, I wasn't impressed. Upon entering the office, my inner voice was saying, "what did you get yourself into?!?" It seemed like a really Rinky dink operation and I didn't get the best first impression from the office staff. The guides came out on time, and I was feeling more optimistic about our excursion. The ride was bumpy and the entire experience felt surreal. Once I was at the top, all doubts were gone. The equipment was solid, the guides were funny, and the Zipline seemed very well done. It was all downhill from there! LITERALLY! Way exceeded my expectations and I would definitely go back! Beautiful property (which was the big selling point for me!) Worth every penny. I highly recommend!

Planes & flying memorabilia from WWI to the jet era are on display at this aviation museum.
I visited for the Kilroy Coffee event and had the wonderful and fleeting opportunity to meet and listen to several WWII veterans share their stories. I also met with many other veterans that served our great nation. The museum is great to walk around and just immerse yourself in history...not to mention, the team at the Warhawks Museum records Veterans stories so that they are preserved. We saw a safe that had thousands of discs, each representing a veteran.

Just 20 min outside of boise. $14 entrance fee for adults. Worth it! We spent about 1.5 hours but could have spent more. A lot to read through. Many personal artifacts donated to make this place come to life. Local history. Planes to look at. Planes are functional and we learned they fly out every year in August. Many items in the gift shop. Restrooms in site. Wheelchair handicap accessible.

This museum has a large collection of military history from people who served from the state of Idaho. Their plane collection is small, but the aircraft on the display are well maintained and still flown. They have 1 of 3 still flying P51c variants in the world.
There are two P40 Warhawks that have a list of Hollywood credits to their name as they were featured in several movies.
The main part of the museum is stories, posters, and gear used in the military from WW1 to Vietnam. There are plans we were told to add a 3rd wing to the museum with 2 more aircraft and stories/history from Vietnam to today.
Paul or docent was very knowledgeable and great with the kids. As we walked to the different displays, he shared the stories of the people they featured, which was fascinating (for the adults that is). The kids were more interested in the large gift shop, of course, that had a great selection of shirts, aviation centric gifts, and toys.

This museum is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. I recommend visiting on a day when you have plenty of time to spend here as the museum has a LOT of interesting exhibits that you will want to take your time looking at and reading about. The volunteers that work here are a wealth of information! Larry took me around and explained so many exhibits to me, as well as told me stories that I would otherwise never known about. The volunteers are happy to talk to you about all of it! We spent about 2-3 hours here and didn’t even make it a quarter of the way through the whole museum! There is a gift shop that you enter and exit through where you can purchase some souvenirs. Will make sure to visit again on a day when we can see the entire museum! Highly recommend visiting!

We absolutely loved Warhawk. The way they have the displays set up is awesome. Each display case has a binder that tells the life story of the veterans who donated the items. They have tons of reading material all around the museum, from training manuals to action reports to love stories. For the kids, they have a scavenger hunt throughout the museum. The staff was also very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We spent 2 hours going through and could have spent the whole day. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Warhawk Air Museum, for everything you do for our veterans.

Thank you to everyone at the Warhawk Air Museum for putting together such an incredible collection of planes, vehicles, articles and artefacts.
The volunteer staff here were so generous with their time and offered up their personal connections with some of the exhibits here - it was truly an honour to listen to someone like Jim Dennis recount stories of his fathers time flying P-51’s over Mt Suribachi. As we move further away from the 1940’s it is more important than ever that we keep these veterans’ stories alive.
If you are in the area - make a stop to the Warhawk air museum you won’t regret it
The stunning Idaho State Capitol building is a 100-year-old neoclassical marvel that attracts tourists from all over the world. The building's architecture is inspired by some of the most iconic neoclassical buildings in Europe, such as St. Peters Basilica in Rome, St. Pauls Cathedral in London, and the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. The Capitol's rotunda features an impressive 208-foot tall dome that is a beautiful sight to behold!
So amazing and beautiful! Definitely worth checking out if you’re in Boise. You can walk around and see the building. They have a lower level that has a lot of history and information.

I enjoyed visiting the Idaho State Capitol over Memorial Day weekend. Luckily for us, Tank and I were the only ones there. After getting some great pictures around the grounds and appreciating the beauty of the architecture, we ventured to the front steps for even more photos. Due to this being an impromptu stop, we headed on our way to find leash-free doggo zones to run and play at instead of walking around the capitol.

Open anytime to walk through, with a static museum display on a lower floor. And literally - every single door is unlocked, so you can enter at any point almost. Don't miss the room with the video virtual tour, it helps to explain each floor and how it was made, plus a look up into to the dome, which you can't get to. Lots of natural light, just a beautiful building overall! There's a small gallery of first lady's dresses on an upper floor, by the statues. Free to get and just walk around anytime!

Such a beautiful, clean, well-kept Capitol building! The architecture was exquisite. Loved learning about the history… how it was structured with sandstone from Table Rock, that the Old Penitentiary prisoners hauled in.
From the statues, to the breathtaking marble & pillsrs, inside and out, this is truly an Idaho treasure to behold. Be sure to read about Teddy Roosevelt’s part to play in Idaho’s history!
Great place to bring out of town visitors when they come to stay with us.

I came here with my 4th grader and his class and got a really great tour with an awesome tour guide (Jim)... since I had toured the capital 35 years ago, it was an amazing experience with my boy... The history of the capital is quite fascinating as well as the history of our state... although a few parts I remember aren't accessible anymore... The experience is still top-notch and makes you proud to be an Idahoan... The building not only carries the history and weight of Idaho and the challenge of governing for the people.. The building is also a work of art and has a lot of really neat custom trade work on display... a testament to the working man and his craft... all in all a really great expirence and fun day...
Boise's zoo is considered one of the best in the area, and contains a wide array of animals from all over the world. From Africa to North America, Zoo Boise has something for everyone to enjoy. The zoo also features interactive areas such as an animal farm and presentations area that teaches children about different species living there.
Great little zoo! I visited in February and it was still a great experience. There are a great mix of critters to see. It is the perfect size for small children as you can manage the entirety in a day. There are a good number of interactive aspects which create memories sure to inspire a return visit.

Our Boise zoo is a fun place to enjoy with the kids and get a good walk in. It's hard to compare to some of the bigger zoos in other states and that's why I gave it a four star. Also because it seems that every time we go, most of the animals are not there. And this seems to be consistent. The zoo does have a lot of good activities that go on for holidays and field trips. They have a cute gift shop and good prices on food. With all of the high prices going on in town, it is nice to see that the zoo price has remained affordable.

I've been to the zoo many times, and it's a great experience every time. I love the events they have, and just seeing all the animals is a ton of fun. I wish they had more food options, but I typically get dip and dots, which is a little on the expensive side. The penguins and monkeys are always my favorite to see, and I love going through the gift shop on my way out.

This was a great visit. We had an elderly client with us with healing head and face burns. This zoo had lots of trees and shade areas for us to walk and relax before the real heat of the day started. It was near 100 for the highs that day but we got a solid two hours in before we had to leave from the heat.

Smaller zoo within walking distance of downtown hotels. Super affordable on its own, but even more affordable with a reciprocal membership, so admission was under $7.00. Paths were not fully cleared of snow, making navigating the zoo more difficult as it was hard to determine what was closed due to winter and what just had not been shoved yet. Enjoyed the small mammal, wild dog/ hyena, and Asian areas the most. A lot of potential outlined in their master plan. Good way to spend about an hour in Boise.

First time to the zoo and was super excited to see all the exhibits, unfortunately we picked the end of April to visit. Due to the cold weather several of the animals were taken off exhibit. We did find a penny collector machine in the area with the penguins, the penny's make great gifts (cost 2 Quarters and 1 Penny). Many of the exhibits had donation boxes so we got rid of lots of change we had on us.

A fun thing to do on an afternoon in Boise. Situated right near downtown in a large park, this zoo isn't too big, but it still has interesting things to see and do. We enjoyed the otters, capybaras, and large birds that were there. You may want to think about the weather when visiting because many of the animals were sleeping or taking shelter in the 95+ degree heat of our visit. You can see basically everything in the zoo in an hour or so, so you don't need to plan for a super long visit.
Brian DiGiorgio — Google review
This zoo is amazing! You get to see animals super close up regardless they are roaming outside or getting cozy inside! It’s not massive, you don’t have to walk forever between animals or look forever trying to find out where are they hiding, but all animals look happy, healthy and well cared for! The type of animals they keep here are also quite unique! The decoration of the zoo, educational set up are so interesting too! We only had one hour time to check it out this time, but all 3 of us agree that next time we are in Boise we need to spend a day here!

Go when it's warm! Many attractions are closed during the cold season making it hard to see the animals. Still took about two hours to see everything so it was worth the money. Very well priced compared to the aquarium.

Zoo Boise is not the biggest or best kept zoo, though they do keep true to key mission goals of sustainability, conservation, and education. The cost of entry is low compared to other zoos. I was pleased to support Zoo Boise the past year as a member, and would continue to support them if I was living in Boise long term.
Finding parking is difficult as it's shared with the adjacent park, so be prepared. The zoo does not wow visitors upon entry. Most of their exhibits appear small and are very dated. Animals do have a tendency to prefer hiding in their enclosures, but many animals can be seen throughout a typical visit. The butterfly enclosure is well done, and I encourage visitors to see it when in it's in season.
There's nothing bad about the experience, but for the state's capitol, the zoo leaves a lot to be desired. I sincerely hope Zoo Boise receives funding needed to achieve its Master Plan outlined in 2021. Zoo Boise's Master Plan includes new exhibits, enclosures, and much needed revitalization. If you're in town or a local, consider visiting or donating so that Boise can continue to have a place for conservation, education, and outreach.

Our family had a great experience at the zoo. Clean place, nice walking paths. The animals we did see were well taken care of. Pretzels were fresh. I’m giving a 4 star because many of the exhibits were closed and empty. Glass was extremely dirty on a lot of the exhibits so you can’t really see in on some of them.
Otherwise it was good.
Tara Jensen — Google review
This is a fun zoo. It is on the smaller size. We were able to walk the entire zoo at a slower pace in about two hours. The exhibits themselves are dated, but you can see most of the animals up close. I don't know if it was just bad luck, but it seemed a higher than usual number of animal exhibits were temp closed for one reason or another. Overall, it is a fun trip that you can easily do in a short period of time and get to see some interesting g animals.

When the office goes to the zoo to celebrate recognition. We picnicked outside the rose garden and went to the zoo. It was a beautiful day, and it was so much fun to walk and explore the exhibits. Some of my favorites are always the Lions, tiger, and snow leopards. Those big kitties look like they'd be the best snuggle bugs. Probably a one and done deal. Obviously not recommended, but a gal can wish. Boise zoo is the perfect size for a couple hour adventure. I feel like everyone could find something they'd want to see.

I think my expectations were too high. We came here on a Saturday and it was very busy because of an Easter event but it was still walkable and wasn’t too crowded. The enclosures are difficult to see into, there were very few animals out, mostly just a bunch of empty habitats. The price was pretty good, but I expected there to be more animals at the zoo. We opted to bring a baby carrier and let my 2 year old walk and this was a good choice. Strollers are a little hard to navigate with.

The zoo has changed so much over the years. It's not like it used to be a long time ago when I was a kid or when I had my kids. But we had fun.
Amber Van Gerpen — Google review
Not a very big zoo, but also very small places where the animals have to live. I’ve been here this year in October. The people working here are very friendly. Great communication and very friendly.
The animals don’t look very happy, but there are some great animals to see. Most of them were inside, 50% I could not see with my own eyes. They did not have much space. The bear is a $5 fee to feed it and see it.
We were finished with watching in about 1-2 hours.
It’s a new stop for on the road, but I don’t know…

Zoo Boise is a great zoo. Took four kids to visit and kept us busy for hours. Lots to explore and do here at this zoo. The price is fair and if you plan your time right, you can feed the giraffes. Parking is also easy to get to. My family will definitely visit again.

The Boise River Greenbelt is a stunning 25-mile trail that connects various parks and recreational areas, offering breathtaking views of the wildlife and riverside scenery. It features a well-maintained paved biking path suitable for all levels of cyclists, as well as pedestrians who can enjoy the lush vegetation along the entire route. Visitors have noted both the affordability and convenience of renting electric bikes or scooters to explore this beautiful trail further.
The Old Idaho Penitentiary Site is a museum that features 30 historic buildings with special exhibitions and self-guided walking tours. This attraction was once home to a number of notorious Idaho criminals, and provides a fascinating experience for visitors.
Very informative tour guide.
Our guide was very animated with his stories about the prisoner life. Some of his stories have me goosebumps.
After the tour when everyone left, we asked about if there have been any paranormal events. That's when it got really interesting.
Highly recommended.

It was a great experience and completely worth the $2 additional for the guided tour. The guides are highly knowledgeable and have some great stories about the penitentiary and some of the former "guests".
The unrelated historical weapons display and tour is fantastic. All donated by a private collector, there's everything from colonial days through Vietnam. There are some really rare pieces in the collection. Worth a visit.

We did the self guided tour. It was fascinating and some great history here. The Rose Garden was beautiful. Be sure to check out the J. Curtis Earl Memorial Exhibit. Great information in there, too. On my next visit, I will do the guided tour.

This was a great museum and exhibit of the Old Penitentiary. They had a vast amount of history, including statements on a video from old inmates. Some of the stories were horrific though. There were artifacts, photos and written history, as well as walking through some of the old cells. It was very interesting. Employees are very polite and friendly. There is also a gift shop. There is another museum called the J Curtis Earl Weapons Exhibit, on the same grounds and it is FREE (or included in the price). This museum is also very interesting. It contains information, photos, artifacts, uniforms, videos and weapons from several American wars, including: Spanish American War, World War I, World, World War II.

This was such a neat experience. Friendly staff and very helpful. Visited in January and a jacket is a must since most everything is outdoors. Spent a lot of time visiting each building. Great for history buffs or to pass the time. Cheap tickets, too.

So awesome! So much history. Plus so much to explore. Best part is they let you your the prison by yourself, and have information plastered all over the place. Definitely worth the price. Gift shop is a tad speedy. But overall an amazing experience😁

Awesome place to wander the grounds and learn a little history. The weapon museum on site is awesome as well! Dusty grounds and some stairs if you're feeling adventurous, so I don't recommend wearing sandles. Spent about an hour and a half here to see the main structure but there were more surrounding buildings we didn't get to.

We bought our tickets online and then paid for the tour in person to see what times they have. We are glad we bought the tour and highly recommend it. Wasn't open due to Halloween weekend evening events, but looked pretty cool from the outside. The Women's Ward was open & had very good historical information & stories.
Only here for a day, but would've loved to get the guided tour!

Well worth the $8 ticket price! The penitentiary offers a look into it's own history. Throughout the buildings there are signs and displays giving the history of each location. The entire site is very well maintained and the relics are in great condition for viewing. It's also really neat to read about some of the prisoners who spent time here. Highly recommend visiting!

I arrived at 4:30pm and there was a "closed" sign in the window. Their website states last admission at 4. I walked the grounds which were interesting. Perhaps inside the visitors center gives more context... but the Warden's house, prison walls, woman's prison and barns/gardens in back are photogenic and free to walk.

I've visited this site twice now, once just touring throughout the day and the second time at night closer to Halloween when they allowed access to the "dungeon" I really find this place fascinating. They give you a map when you first come in which is extremely helpful. They have informational posters all throughout the buildings giving you all the tea about the history of the buildings and the inmates who served time there. It was very interesting to see. I love that they offer guided tours but they also allow you to self tour the site. I could spend hours there reading about all the inmates and the crimes that ultimately led them there. The price to get in is extremely reasonable. It's a great way to pass the time and have a really cool look into the past. Highly recommend if you happen to be in the Boise area!

The World Center for Birds of Prey is a visitor center and avian sanctuary where endangered birds of prey are kept and displayed. The property offers panoramic views over Boise, as well as a range of education activities related to these birds.
Truly loved this place! The staff is amazing and pricing is great for every budget and most importantly the entry feed goes to feeding the birds there and to help save endangered species like the California Condor through the sites breeding facilities! Amazing and informative place to visit with awesome displays of the birds housed here, such as the one I attended where the falcon flew around the room you're inside while the staff member explained the bird and the things the fund is doing to save the falcon and other birds of prey from extinction! I highly recommend this place for everyone to visit! If you can visit I highly encourage you to go to their website and donate money to help these birds survive and thrive well into the future!

If you live in the Boise area become a member, if you're just visiting this place it is amazing and does amazing work so make it a must do while in Boise. The raptors here are incredible and love to put on a show, they are all full of character. The people that work/volunteer are also wonderful and welcoming and full of knowledge. I went on a Sunday during a visit to Boise and because I enjoyed it so much I came back on Monday even though I knew it was closed just so I could peek over the fence from the parking lot and see the California Condor again. There are also new enclosures being built. Parking is easy and free and the location is easy to find and in a great spot to look down on the City.

This was a most EXCELLENT exciting experience and a MUST-DO for anyone living in the area, entertaining out of state family, or any just plain bird lover!! ❤️ Everything was SO IMPRESSIVE, but especially the birds!!! ✨The California Condors were my favorite to see. ✨ALSO: The Harpy Eagle!!! Just beyond impressed with their beautiful educational facility. The murals are so beautiful and really add aesthetically to the bird enclosures. They were doing LIVE RELEASES when we arrived and also had a Burrowing Owl showing whilst giving us information on their habit, nesting cycles, etc. ✨All of the staff and volunteer staff are wonderful and were dedicated in answering all of our questions. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to Allen, Penny/ Peggy (?-sorry!) and another young woman whose name I didn’t catch. Their Gift Shop is phenomenal, as well.
❤️ You know, it’d actually be a GREAT place, to take a date!!! During the weekday there was no more than 1/2 dozen people there.

I'm not a big fan of birds but this place almost converted me. The outdoor show is as up-close as you get, with birds dragging their feathers across your head as they fly over. Great variety of birds and demonstrations. Staff was clearly devoted to the cause. I think kids would think it both cool and scary and fascinating, so they'd be talking about it for days afterward. Price is family-friendly, too. Highly recommended.

This is a very special place. The work they do is incredibly important. There have been recent renovations to the gift shop/entrance area; very sleek and inviting. The only reason I didn't rate it higher is because we'd love to see a few more displays. We will keep going so our entrance fees help support additional expansion and projects. I highly recommend it.

I loved this Center so much that I purchased a Family Annual Pass! Being up close to a Bald Eagle was amazing in itself, but watching them fly?!? Mind blowing!
We were able to see 2 presentations as well, done by the volunteers & staff. Very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. Enjoyed the indoor museum as well. So much information and birds of prey to see… both alive and taxidermies. Great gift shop as well! Unique, fun family adventure!

They're building a new compound to really show off their collection of raptors, but the long history of conservation of the hunting birds of the wild is why we loved supporting this organization. It's amazing seeing the condors in an enclosure that is bigger than what they had but it's still far too small for them to really fly. The new buildings and enclosures should be amazing, but they look to be at least as year or from being complete at this point (August 2022). The educational shows every few hours are good. The library on falconry is the real treasure.

Can't say enough good things about this place. It's a hidden gem. They do amazing work to save birds of prey! Go to their Fall Flights presentation if you can. Watch all sorts of birds of prey fly right by you. Then go into the facility and you can see Condors, a Harpy Eagle, Bald Eagle and many, many other birds of prey.

I absolutely loved this experience. We went during the winter so it was pretty quiet. Make sure to go when they have shows (about every two hours) because they do free flying with a raptor and explain some of the conservation process. This has been one of my favorite conservation experiences.

I was with the WSU Raptor Club for a day trip to the World Center for Birds of Prey. We were given a unique presentation of "Pretzel," a burrowing owl, an in depth discussion about the California Condor recovery program and we attended the 3PM outdoor flying presentation of a Turkey Vulture and an Eagle Owl. Many improvements to the center have been made since my last visit over 20 years ago. Keep up the good raptor recovery programs!

Lucky Peak State Park, just a short 25-minute drive from downtown Boise, offers a picturesque destination with picnic pavilions, fishing, and hiking trails. Visitors can also enjoy a beach area with swimming and boat ramps at the marina. To reserve the large gazebo for group parties, make sure to schedule ahead of time. The park features a smooth walking and biking path protected by a rail on one side.
Apple Maps takes you to a subdivision. So I would not follow directions using that app.
Lucky Peak is dog friendly. Sandy Point is not May 1-Oct 1. Plan accordingly!
We went to Sandy Point. Earlier is less busy, and it really picked up around 2-3pm. There was lots of tree cover for shade, but if you want to sit right on the beach, many people brought canopy tents.
I would recommend water shoes, the sand is not soft, and was rough to walk around on. The water does not get higher than 5’ in deep parts closer to the geyser. A fun afternoon plan.
$7 for a day pass to get into Sandy Point. They took credit card.

I came out to play the winter disc golf course and I have to admit when I got to the pin on 3 I almost told my friend where he could put it. 2 through six are brutal. Brutal and beautiful. Then it turns back into a great park course. Don't turn back but if you do please know, I get it.

Not worth it. 94 outside made the ride to cool down from Boise to take a look and to feel the water. Well here it goes... the park is more for the geese and seagulls than for us, but there is some watergames in that pond for children to play with. Sand is a little ruff for your feet, sand is combined with little rocks not a great feeling, also u have to do slalom to avoid geese feces. Water is cold but very clear so there's no problems to see feces in the water. Weekend is very busy so the feces will be for all of us who wants to swim. The park should get rid of those geese. Also the pond is right below a huge dam tha is no wider than a two way trafic road at the top, from the bottom up of that dam is probably 300'. If that dam breaks up you can kiss your behind goodbye. The only good things about it is that I did'nt have to pay the parking fee on thursday.

I brought my family from out of town here for swimming- it was great! I hadn't gone in a few years because the goose poop was so gross the last time I went. It didn't seem so bad this visit, the water was not too deep for the kiddos, and renting a paddleboard was fairly priced! Tons of shade options, nice bathrooms, clean, and tons of fun! 🏖

This is a nice park (Sandy Point). Lots of trees for shade, the sand is pretty nice and the kids can dig in it. Paddleboarding was fun and the water was super calm. We were able to string a hammock up between a couple trees. I found out later that hammocks apparently aren't allowed, but a park employee came by and didn't mention it, so I'm not sure how strictly that's enforced. It wasn't very busy when we were there, so maybe it's worse when it's busier. There are a good amount of picnic tables and BBQ platform things scattered about in the grassy area. There are a few fountain-type features the kids liked playing in.
There's a snow shack and a paddleboard rental place, but we didn't try those out so can't comment on them.
The kids loved it and we'll be back.
Things to keep in mind:
1) There are geese here. Watch where you step!
2) Pets are prohibited from Sandy Point May 1 – October 1.
3) Glass isn't allowed.
4) There's an entrance fee, unless you have an Idaho State Parks Pass.

Such a great destination, just 25 minutes from downtown Boise! Picturesque both the drive and the park itself, gorgeous backdrops paired with a soothing sound of running water. Please make a reservation for their bbq area ( theirs is a big gazebo to guarantee plenty of shade ) for group parties!
There’s a fantastic walking and biking path that is smooth and protected with a rail on one side.
Bathrooms were clean and the daily fee to use the park was seven dollars. Make sure to bring cash for the service fee.
So go, what are you waiting for! You won’t regret it!
Expansive park offers hiking & equestrian trails, plus water/sand sports, an observatory & camping.
Been there two different times. I still find it amazing how all the sand got here. (I have a couple photos of the signs that talk about it) Climbed one of the hills the first time we went and caught an epic sunset. (Check out the photos) Then checked out the water with my kids the next time we were in the area. Be careful when it's hot out the sand in very hot. There are warning signs about it. It would be amazing to see the stars here on a clear night. Please pick up trash if you see it and leave it better than you came. Help preserve these places for future generations.

Did I know Idaho had sand dunes? Nope. Did anyone know they had dunes? Probably not. Let me tell you though… they were insanely amazing! I hiked one of the smaller ones, and I thought I was in decent shape, but the dune proved otherwise. It’s October so it was a little chilly and VERY windy. I was afraid if I climbed a bigger one, I would have been blown all the way back to the East coast. As amazing as the dunes were, the surrounding trails and lake offered even more breathtaking views. I saw a lot of ducks, geese, birds and flowers. I was in total awe of the whole experience. Idaho has definitely proved its more than just a flyover state. Can’t wait to come back and explore it more during a different time of year!

This is a well maintained state park. They have a strict check in policy that won’t allow you to setup until 2PM even though the camping site is empty. Just be aware if you arrive earlier especially with a big rig. The Observatory has a spacious parking lot so we had to park our 40’ raptor fifth wheel there for one hour and luckily the parking lot was empty and gave us enough space to turn back to the Eagle Cove campground. This could be troublesome on weekends or holidays. The views of sand dunes and lakes are stunning. The campground is ok.

During our Idaho state tourism, we visited this interesting place. After seeing Hunder sand dune in Nubra valley of Ladakh & Sam sand dune in Jaisalmer Rajasthan India, it was intresting to watch sand dunes at such place. The dunes was just a pit stop for us for a night. We ended up staying in a cabin during off season. We were the only ones in the park!
No discount tho lol but enjoyed our stay either way. The staff appeared busy maintaining the park and I was quite happy with everything.
Our cabin was as advertised and easy to get into but was a little confusing based on the email confirmation. Ended up calling and they said the key was inside the cabin. No problem but was kind of inconvenient.

Self register. $42 seemed a bit pricey for nonresident in off season since all amenities including water were turned off. Did get electric hook-up. Parking pad was level gravel. Could fit larger RV in some spots Could hear train all night. Left early so no time to enjoy park. Convenient access off highway only a few miles.

Nice Idaho state park overlooking the Snake river at Glenn's Ferry. Sites had water and power and were generally not too close together. Bathrooms were clean. There is an upper and lower camping area and each was similar in design, with some pull through sites and some for backing in. Also close by is a visitor center with exhibits on the Oregon Trail, first peoples, and local history. Close by, within an easy walk, is a winery that serves, among other things, a delicious Ruben sandwich!

It has great tree coverage and nice trails. The picnic table was metal so easy to clean and the table cloth clips worked great on it. The area has a good amount of bugs so don't forget your bug spray or you'll get eaten up by mosquitos. The bathrooms were pretty nice and clean. Only one shower worked on the women's side though.

We had a big group coming from different states to spend a week together. We reserved our campsites far in advance, & had no problem getting sites close together. We also saw that there are “companion sites” that allow two groups to share a site for a higher rate.
Visiting in late June-early July was very warm, with temperatures over 100° some of the days.
Due to adventures with little boys, we got to learn that the nearest ER is in Mountain Home about half an hour west.

The historic aspect of this park made staying there worth while. The restrooms were cleaned daily and actually did not smell
The only reason I did not give 5 stars overall is the park is a great place to meet friends or family, or if you love history, aside from those two reasons to visit, the park is just ordinary. Nothing to get overly excited for.

Pretty nice state Park. Very busy/full. Hard to get in here unless you book way ahead. No full hook ups, central RV dump. Some sites have water & electric. Many trains w/ loud horns all thru nite & day.

Great cabin spots by the river. Very nice disc golf course with signage and cement tee pads. Course plays through park setting, then wooded area then back to park again. Bathrooms are nice and clean with showers. Fishing on the Snake river and Glenn's ferry town is not too far away for any supplies. Also a skatepark in town. Great spot to get away an hour from Boise. We camp there twice a year and make it down to play disc golf about every other month. Staff is very friendly. Definitely 5 stars!

We stopped here to eat lunch and stretch our legs. Very nice park and there are many picnic tables to chill at. The cabins look really cute from the outside, and the bathrooms are really clean and air conditioned! You do have to pay $7 for day use but oh well.

Great time for all 12 of us getting together. It was the first time for most of us. RV sites are big and grassy and were easy to get into. Camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. Pet friendly, and when you walked them, you didn't see where someone didn't pick up. Felt very safe. VERY CLEAN PARK will definitely go back soon with family.

Very nice campground. Huge sites, lots of grass. Couple of easy tracks to walk along the river. The museum is great, don't miss.

Camping here was great. Nice RV spaces. Spread out better than most. Full hookups and buddy sites. Bathroom w showers was better than most. The museum was great and a bonus was they had a backpack full of kid gear for exploring you could check out. Great for friends and families.

Loved this park, especially in the off season. We rented a cabin and had beautiful views and slept cozy warm! Ranger Kevin was the best! Plenty to do in the area. The museum, the winery, and wildlife viewing.

Loved our stay in the cabins! Beautiful park, disc golf is fun, wonderful historical center, and everyone that works there is super nice and welcoming. Highly recommend making the short drive to the lookout for an amazing view of the islands.

This is a really nice campground. Lovely trees shade each site. Most sites are reasonably private. The toilets and showers were very clean and serviced daily. Some nice walks and interesting historical sites.

Stayed in a cabin with My BIL and nephews. Such a quite fun magical place. Had an early fishing adventure!

We camped here for Memorial weekend and was very impressed. A lot of shade, large sturdy picnic table and a fire ring. You have plenty of room for your RV and tents. There are grills available randomly through the park. They keep the bathrooms and showers very clean for a campground . There is a lower and upper campground area. We were on the top level and loved it because it’s closer to fishing and trails. I recommend the top section. We did see a deer in the lower level thought when we were driving around.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a host camping on the campground. They sell firewood, if needed.
The interpretive center was interesting and informative about the Oregon trail that passed through this exact area. If you are interested in America history, it’s worth stopping and exploring the area. Lots of trails to hike and some are the exact trail of the Oregon trail. This campground is worth staying at. We will be back.

National park with a visitor center displaying samples of ancient fossils excavated from the area.
Robin is amazing. She shared so much wonderful information with us about the fossil beds and must-see sights around the area! Took her recommendation to see Balanced Rock and it was incredible! Go check it out!!!!!

Basically...it's just wide open planes not worth the trip. We even had a hard time finding it. I was picturing a big National Park only to find almost nothing but a little sign. I'm sure there a a few hiking trails but don't expect any information booth, restrooms or really anything.
Scott Michaud — Google review
First of all, be aware that this is a brand-new visitor center as of my visit in June, a cooperation between the National Park Service and Thousand Springs Idaho State Park. that’s important to know because it is easy to mess up and go to the old location in downtown Hagerman.
The new location is really nice, but there is not a huge amount of parking, especially if you are in an RV.
When I was there they were still getting things completed at the visitor center but still had great exhibits. The Hagerman fossil beds are known for the Hagerman horse which has one toe and is unusual because there are a number of bird fossils as well.
at this time, you should visit the NPS website and watch the park film online before you go. When I was there the auditorium was not ready to use yet. It’s also worth knowing that you can’t really visit any of the fossil bed areas.
Thousand Springs State Park has several units to visit in the area. You will need to purchase a day pass to visit most of those.

This is an essential first stop to the area. There's so much to visit. Some stops require a Idaho state park pass: $7. Worth every penny. You'll be able to look out over the land where fossils were found. Don't expect to see them in the landscape. So much more to see.
DD Wilson — Google review
Happy for the new location and building, it's a work of art! Beware, the brown signs an the highway still make it seem as if the visitor center is still in downtown Hagerman, it isn't. Went on a Friday in the late afternoon and had the place to myself! Cool fossils and fossil casts. Ended up walking the path around the building and there was a bonus table with casts and fossils I could touch. A ranger (?) came out back and explained the difference between antlers and horns, I had no idea! The air conditioning was kicking and the bathrooms nice, I will be back! Lots of parking too, there is even parking for trucks with trailers or RV!

Nice little National Monument Visitor's Center. Feature film was informative, and has a very kid-friendly corner with activities, and interactive displays.

Beautiful new museum, very interesting, gives you an idea about the fossils of the region and it’s FREE

Very nice displays, but small (you can view and read everything in 15 mins or less). The park employees that are working here are so lovely to talk to. The lady at the desk had great recommendations and shared good information about the park. If you don't have cash for the park gate, you can stop here and pay with card.
Rebecca Freeman — Google review
Great museum. Very small so doesn't take very long. They had a NPS Jr. Ranger badge here that was nice to do and learn more about fossils!
Ranger here suggested stamping the Jr Ranger badge on the back with the NPS stp! Wish I'd thought of this before! Absolutely great idea!

A glimpse into the past is available here so take some time to see what Idaho's history held and the beauty of what is now. The staff are knowledgeable and love answering questions. And no, you can't look for your own fossils there.
Dave Clark — Google review
Small park it is combined with the National Monument. The state park area was closed for maintenance so we were unable to visit. The building is brand new and the displays so far are very well done.
Lisha — Google review
We’re big fans of the National Park system. We’ve learned something at even the smallest parks and this one was no exception. That said, there really isn’t that much there. The staff is very informative though. They have a cast of a mastodon head, a reproduction of a Hagerman horse skeleton, and numerous authentic fossils. The history of the actual site and Hagerman horse are interesting. You can see the site from an overlook, however, there is really nothing to see as there hasn’t been a dig in decades. The route is on the Oregon and Emigrate Trails which are interesting for the history but not so much what you see. If you’re in the area, it’s worth going.

This was a nice little stop while we were in the area. As a geologist and horse lover, I was thoroughly fascinated with the Hagerman Horse. My kids loved playing with the hands on items available (and I appreciated that there was an area they could explore). Clean bathrooms and friendly staff topped off the visit. One thing though - Google maps doesn't show the accurate location for the visitors center... It's actually in the town of Hagerman, not in the designated land.
Leah Roper — Google review
The Visitors Center in the center of Hagerman City is where you start your journey. This place is staffed with retirees who are so passionate about the Hagerman Fissile Beds that it is contagious. You can watch a 12 min video on the Hagerman Horse (zebra-like) in the air-conditioned theater, read tons of info on what life was like between 3.7 and 3.1 million yes ago.
From the Visitors Center, you can head out to the Hagerman Fishery, follow the tour in your own car to the Snake River Overlook and concluding with the Oregon Trail Overlook (and Emigrant Trail Hike...we didn't do the hike. It was too hot & we're too old:)
Pics are of Oregon Trail Overlook.

One of the best hot springs we’ve been to!
We took some advice and booked a private room/pool here and it was incredible. Not only do you have your own space to change but you have your own person hot spring! The best touch is that you can adjust the temperature by turning the knobs to release hot or cold water. One side of the pool is deep and one side is shallow because of the stairs so you can choose how you want to relax. An hour was plenty of time for 2 of us but I would consider booking the pool for longer if I came with a group. Once our hour was up, we went to check out the general admission pools and they were pretty packed with families so getting a room was the best decision we made for the day! Staff was friendly and it felt clean. We can’t wait to come back! It’s also not hard to get to, especially when it’s snowing so we loved the drive! And there’s no hiking! Just pull into the parking lot!

If you have the time to stay the night in one of the domes I HIGHLY recommend it. Me and my wife drove up in the winter time and it was so relaxing. It was a short drive for us since we live in meridian, also a very nice drive up there even at night. We went late at night and reserved a private tub so it was very quite and worth it. The room was very clean and well taken care of, the Dome is such a cool experience and sleeping was without issue.

This is one of my favorite places now that I have discovered it. A true oasis, gorgeous location with big trees on a creek, cute camping, super accommodating with a restroom lobby that is accessible all hours. Newly built, the pools are incredible. The biggest is just the right temperature to stay in for hours and is so deep I could barely stand up. The smaller pools vary in temperature, one of which is very hot. No cell signal at all, but not a far drive to one. Be sure to make reservations. As a senior, it was only $6.36 for the day! That is truly amazing and so welcoming to us older folks. Right down the road from some excellent kayaking and cute towns. Check out Hagerman and Buel (home of Magic Valley Brewing).

One of the best experiences I've ever had with a hot spring. I had a great time kayaking in the river right next to the place and after the tiring paddling relaxing in the hot springs felt great. Very relaxing because there weren't many people at the time. There were 4 different pools with different temperatures so if you don't like it that hot you can go in the big pool. If you like it hot you can even go in the pool under the patio, which was by far the coolest pool. The bathrooms were well managed and clean. There was even an alligator resting in its own spring!

Absolutely awesome. No more RV campgrounds available. The hot springs is really amazing with four different temperatures pools. Reasonable price and highly recommended for anyone just wanted to relax. They also have private pool and they're usually pretty full. If you prefer to use the private pool, highly recommended to call advanced to reserve one. Otherwise public pools is fabulous.

We stayed in the Park Home and it was excellent- nicely decorated, clean, and modern inside. Comfy beds. The staff members at the office were so helpful to our requests and answered every question with a smile. The private soaking tub was very nice. We want to come back in the winter!

This is the best hot springs I have ever been too!! The private pools are awesome! They have clean and privates bathrooms. I had no issues at all!

First time visiting an open hot spring! Was well worth the drive from Twin Falls. Facilities were very clean--bathrooms, showers, floors, and the grounds were well kept. My rating is 4/5 because it's not a "luxury spa," and the public pools are more of a "kid's water park...." But the private pools are well worth a visit.
Paige L — Google review
Easily the most relaxing hot springs i've been to. The staff here is almost too nice, and that goes along with the overall vibe of the place. With 4 different pools going up, or down in temp depending on how you look at it. There's too hot, too cold, just right... and then another bonus just right... I was actually comfortable in all 4, i believe the hottest was at 104° while I was there. In one of the medium temp pools there is a cold spring blocked off in the corner which is just big enough to submerge while lying down. Having this option to go from cool to hot is exactly what the physical therapist ordered and some of the best muscle therapy out there. The private pools have deep set benches and enough space for 3(adults) to spread out, 4 would be fine, up to 6/7 could fit, but I'd feel a little crammed after 4/5. With on-site glamping domes, rv sites, and camp sites, this place quickly became a favorite destination of mine. I saw people catching fish in the river that runs by, on my previous stay I dipped my feet in and the water was warm! I can't wait to go back. There's also a wild surprise if you explore a little bit.
Heads up: Your gold may change color with the sulfer and oxygen if you're there long enough. Especially white gold. If you see the photo, my rings are both white gold, turned gold gold after a soak. They have since returned to their former color, but if you don't know, each a chemical change occurs on a physical element, it breaks down at least a little bit.

Enjoyed a vip private pool, very nice! Best cash I have spent in a long while! We were there around 5-6pm and it was nice and quiet one or two couples swimming in the main pool. One thing I noticed by 6 private rooms were completely booked. So if you plan on getting a private room book ahead of time. 1hr goes too quick 👍👍

My husband and I have been coming to this hot springs for years, and have always loved it! The pools are clean and well kept, the facilities are clean, and the domes, which we have stayed in twice now, are super cozy and worth the money!
Our biggest complaint now, however, is they just raised the prices of admission. When it used to be $20 for both of us to get in, it is now $30 AND we have to pay for our nine-month-old daughter. While we can tolerate a price increase for adults, it is ridiculous that we should have to pay $15 for an infant.
We no longer come to this facility for that reason, and have found another location that we like just as much! If they lower their prices back down, we will return!

Wonderful water and neat yurts. Changing rooms are clean, staff is very good.
Neat little RV are along Creek. Although the highway is close enough to hear it's not terrible busy at night.
Our only complaints are that they just raised prices and the higher prices are steep especially for the area. (particularly for kids) Also being closed Sundays eliminates half of the weekend for people to enjoy.

Was in Boise from CO to visit family and the mentioned that Twin Falls had several hot springs.
After some suggestions from the state visitors site, ending up making the 2 hour drive to Miracle.
Well worth the drive.
Clean pools and changing rooms, intimate and charming, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Just as good as any springs in CO, without a thousand bodies to share with.
Ben Holms — Google review
We stayed for a long weekend and absolutely loved it. The general public pools are fantastic, even providing sports for chess boards to pass the time as you soak in the hot spring water. The private pools aren't the prettiest but they are nice to get away from the crowds. If you rent one of their glamping domes you get time in the private pool as an added bonus.
The glamping domes are so fun. We stayed in the King Dome and were thrilled. It was beautiful inside with a huge window facing the woods. The bed was a little springy and low but we slept great. There is a single bathroom open 24/7 you can access near the office. Only a short walk from the domes. Showers are available onsite during pool hours.
There is a special treat from the days Hagerman had an alligator farm. Right next to the King Dome is a fenced off area with a hot spring pool within. It houses a gorgeous 7 foot alligator. It doesn't move around much especially in cooler weather as it prefers to hang out in the hot spring water.

Very clean and staff managed.
There are therapeutic geothermal pools, private soaking, and massages. Private rooms to change and storage available for your personal items.
The staff was very friendly.
Debbora Bergeron — Google review
There's no smoking except in the parking lot. Makes it difficult for those who have a difficult time walking. No lifeguard on duty, saved a 3 year old from drowning. Parents preoccupied with other children.
Changing rooms on pool deck. Private hot springs with doors. Essentially, a square 5 ft by 5 ft, depth unknown. Can be used for whatever you choose. 21 available, may need to reserve time at the facility. Highly recommended to reserve a private soak!
Varying temperatures of the water. The 2 days I was there, the hottest pool was 102 degrees. If blood pressure is an issue, I do not recommend that pool.
If you choose that pool, do not stay in for more than a few minutes. I, personally, got dizzy due to my own health issues.
Beautiful place, friendly, knowledgeable local staff!
I highly recommend this place. They do have snacks, soda water available for purchase.
There are yurts/domes available to rent as well as RV space. Very limited space for RV. I have a van that doesn't need hookups, but, there was no overnight parking for me, nor were there any spaces for tent camping.
You may lose cell service getting there so look for the sign!

My wife and I came for our anniversary…1hr massages each, 2 hr VIP private pool, the only single-dwelling overnight room they have…exceptional!
The massages were first…professional and very relaxing. I loved mine, my wife loved hers. As for mine (the only one I can speak directly to) she was awesome. She said very little, only to know I was comfortable, which I like (I don’t like talkative masseuses). It was clear to me she was trained…she knew exactly what to do and how to do it…wow, I highly, highly recommend!!!
Next was the pool…ready for us, exceptional temperature (which you can adjust if need be). Very spacious and invigorating due to the natural minerals!
The room we had exceeded our expectations…it was spacious, very clean/sanitized, the king bed (the only one we used…two beds are available), was superb. Soft, silky, clean, relaxing…way to go, Miracle staff!
I can honestly say this room, in Hagerman ID, was better than most I’ve experienced…many in “five-star” locales.
I will be back…both for the room and the massages…again, way to go!

Been going to Miracle Hot Springs for several years now and I really like it. They have a public pool, and they have private pools with a standard and V.I.P. ones. I prefer the private pools. The standard size can accommodate 3 to 4 adults of average size comfortably. The V.I.P.s are larger and have a area where you could have a couple of beach chairs or a place to lie out if you choose to do so. We have had up to 4 adults in the V.I.P.s with no problems. I like the fact that all the pools are open air (no roofs) and the standard size has a little window cut out for a mice cross breeze! The bathrooms are clean and modern, with showers so you can rinse off first before going into the public pool, or rinse off after private pool use.The private pools the water is changed out and cleaned after each use. The one thing that would be awesome to have in each bathroom would be a swimsuit spinner to get out excess water, and perhaps some hooks to hang your clothes on while showering/changing. This is a family owned business, and they are super friendly!

They have multiple private pools and workers constantly cleaning the areas.

They also have yurts and camping spots for RVs. The grounds look well kept
This is what Idaho is all about, beauty, ruggedness, Rock formations, God's creations, and just great family time. This is a hidden Jewel and makes for a great family hike up around balanced Rock. Afterwards, go down into the actual State Park camping area and enjoy a pristine river that flows through it doing a little bit of swimming and fishing. It is a definite must if you are in the magic valley and looking for some different type of landscapes to hike and climb around on. Really great to take family pictures also if you are the hiking and camping type.

Keep your camera ready for pictures and videos if you are entering from Buhl.
Splendid view is on the cards.

I am so glad I visited here, it was a 30 minute drive but worth it. It had a little trail we walked about 30 minutes and the campground was nice.
I also spent way too much time chasing and catching lizards. I loved it.
We saw fish in the river and climbed the rocks. I would be careful of watching littles if you're going to be by the river as there is no beach or area and it's deceptively deep. But there are places away and we were fine with kids raging from 18 months to 9. But a good note none the less. It wasn't too awful and had shade. The toilets were upgraded outhouse but were clean and if you enjoy a breeze up your bum you'll love it. Overall, a good use of several hours.
No cell service personally, but not far from where it cut off.

Mark Smith — Google review
Such a well-managed and super nice park! I can't believe it was free. This place is nicer than a lot of paid campgrounds I've been to. It's a tiny valley with a road, a strip of nice soft grass (that they apparently maintain with sprinklers during the weeknights when camping isn't allowed), and the river. It's all very cozy and surrounded by sharp cliffs on both sides.
It was pretty busy, so I'd recommend coming early to get a spot. Once we had one though, the trees and bushes planted in the grass helped to naturally space us out from our neighbors, and it even had a picnic table, wood fired grill, and a pit for campfires. There were restrooms at the front of the valley, and the trash can at our campsite was emptied daily.
It was such a nice, relaxing environment that we even decided to just stay in one afternoon and sit along the river, watching beavers, muskrats, and even a small snake swim up and down while at least 100 birds flew around overhead with their homes built into the side of the cliffs. I would love to camp here again.
