The most beautiful park around. Great for families, going solo and even fun to bring your pet. Absolutely love being surrounded by all those trees and trails
Julia — Google review
We absolutely love hiking in this park. There are many trails to choose from. My absolute favorite thing is smelling the bark of the Ponderosa pine trees. This park has posted reading material on all the trails we’ve been on, I always stop and read. 🤓Being outside in nature is my happy place! If you’re hiking during the winter consider the icy slush.. I saw a few folks with walking sticks, prbly is a good idea as there are some hilly areas. This park also caters to family picnics with nice grassy areas for playing games or just relaxing in the sun or the shade, we frequently see folks tie up hammocks.

Great park, with a little something for everyone. There are two play structures, open fields for running and games, this neat little grove of trees for kids to wind in and out of, and much longer trails for the hikers as well. There is a great little mash of trails around the two little lakes; very woodsey but with lots of benches and a gazebo and water feature. Seems to be a favorite with dog owners. Kids will also enjoy the koi fish in the ponds as well as the turtles! Trails are dirt, but packed enough for a stroller as long as it hasn't rained recently.
Marisa Stoller — Google review
First time at the park. It was beautiful. Perfect place for autumn pictures. Besides our group, I saw at least 3 other groups getting photos taken. Must be the place in C Springs for photos. It had the perfect atheistic for a Halloween witches shoot. Also had a creepy little wooden hut built to make it even better.
Dree Atwood — Google review
Great, big park with wide open spaces and clean places!
Beautifully maintained area with an updated playground that has fun colors and safe low-to-the-ground features, has gazebos, even a wedding gazebo, picnic pavilions with tables that are kept clean, dog park, horseback riding, volleyball, 4 miles of hiking trails, a horseshoe pit, water fountains and big, clean restrooms, But beware of the compostable toilets they have as anything that goes down, will not be easily retrieved!!
All facilities are able to be reserved. We enjoyed the park during a company picnic where a petting zoo was able to be brought in, a bounce house, food vendor, corn hole set up and made use of the volleyball set up.
Plenty of parking and good signage for figuring out which pavilion you need to go to or other attractions you may be trying to get to as you enter the park.
Lots of rolling hills and healthy trees that provide natural shade. Nice open fields for playing catch, football, or soccer. For dogs, the grass is well maintained and dog park is kept clean.
We look forward to going back and spending more time there and enjoying the pavilions with water features.

A scenic park located in the secluded Black Forest north of Colorado Springs, Fox Run is home to many trails and woods, and is maintained by the county. There's a pond with a rest area, and a good amount of parking as well. I really enjoy the park, and it's never busy so if you're looking for a quieter spot to hike that's not too far out of town, Fox Run is a great option.
Everett Tech — Google review
Best dog park around. Great area for letting the dogs out to exercise and socialize. Please make sure your dog obeys voice commands or keep your dog on a leash.
John L?ger — Google review
This is a great park for everyone.
I enjoy hiking here regularly. The trails dry very quickly after it rains. The trees block the sun and the wind, making it more enjoyable to hike here in the summer and winter. While the trails aren't necessarily flat or easy, there are few, if any, hazards like gravel to slip on or roots to trip on. The only downside to hiking here is that being in the woods, you get relatively few majestic views of the mountains.
My toddler enjoys the playground and swings. My dog (and I) like the huge, shaded dog park.
There are also picnic pavilions and grills. I've seen many large groups and birthday parties.
Stephen Savage — Google review
Such a beautiful park! Trails, playgrounds, dog park and plenty of field space. Incredible views and a peaceful surroundings. Restrooms were closed, but port a potties were available. Water bottle refill station located by the restroom. Our dogs loved the dog park and hiking on the trails. Highly recommend!
Nicole Esquino — Google review
This park is very nice and clean. Has many little hills and is gated. Not many bushes or places for ticks or critter to hide. I loved it. Very nice to walk around and outside the dog run there are restrooms. Its a beautiful quiet place to visit.

One of the nicest parks I’ve ever been to. You can play, walk, explore.. you name it this park has it all. And if you’re looking for a romantic stroll with your significant other. This is the place! The ponds are great and the bugs weren’t bad either!

Great dog park! Great area for family fun!

We went to the smaller kids park. Would recommend the other one for bigger kids.
The bathrooms where closed but they had a portable ones there.
After playing at the park we walked around some of the trails.
Amber Spitzer — Google review
Great park, where you can find long hiking trails, and a very easy trail around two pounds, several parking lots and nice playgrounds, with a sandy volleyball field. And dog park has real trails too. With pine trees it's never too hot, even in summer. In one pond there are turtles, in the other, with a bridge and gazebo - huge coi fish, kids adore it. In fall, the place is perfect for photo sessions, so you can barely walk without avoiding them!
Diana Anderson — Google review
One of my favorite parks! I love walking through pine trees! The areas for group gatherings are nice, also. Only wish there was internet service.
Elizabeth Stein — Google review
I love this park!!! As Colorado Springs continues to grow, every park with hiking trails feels overcrowded regardless of what time you go to the park. I typically go to Fox Run earlyish in the morning, before 9:00am. It never feels crowded, I can always find a parking spot, and when I do cross paths with other people, they are friendly and say good morning.
Rocky summit with a fire-spotting tower overlooking Pike National Forest & surrounding peaks.
Family friendly hike in and out with a very clear designated trail, with plenty of options to stop off for a break or take in the scenery of the beautiful Pike National Forest. Be sure to go early as parking can be very tricky and some other patrons might be aggressive in getting a spot. Also be sure to check the weather. If there is any thunder or lighting the Park Rangers will shut down the tower with no way of you knowing till you get to the top.
Troy Moore — Google review
Amazing views for such a close and relatively easy hike.(our 4 year old hiked the whole way with no issues)
Pine lined trails offer quiet shaded experience. Large Jurassic size rock formations reveal breathtaking panoramic views.
Towards the top of the trail be sure to visit "Zinn Overlook" to the left before your final journey to the base of the fire tower stairs. There is a beautiful green meadow lined with trees, rock formation and wild flowers garnishing the peaceful open space.
Chad McCann — Google review
The hike is great. Mostly uphill the whole way but the views are worth the effort. The road getting to the trailhead is in bad shape and keeps this from being a 5 star hike.
Chris Gleeson — Google review
The Devil's Head Lookout is a really great hiking and sight seeing experience that is fairly easily accessible to most hikers of all ages. There was little kids (maybe 6-7 years old?) and older people that were able to make the hike, but it still can be a challenge and fun adventure for any experience level. Once you get to the very top lookout tower, the views are absolutely amazing and the landscape you can see in 360 degrees is stunning. They had a park ranger in the tower when I went up and she shared a lot of interesting information about the area. I would highly recommend checking it out.
B A — Google review
Had my first cry on this hike because the views were just overwhelming. Makes you feel less significant in the grand scheme.
John Stafiej — Google review
The views were incredible! Just make sure to bring gloves, a hat, and hiking poles. The hike itself was pretty strenuous and had a lot of trip hazards. It started snowing when we got to the top!
Paula Bezark — Google review
The roads to the parking lot are very bumpy but any car will get up them visited on June 11 and all the parking spots were taken at 9 am luckily there was space for our truck in between some pine trees in the lot the hike was beautiful and a little hard on the way up but I would definitely recommend this hike to anyone in Colorado!!
August Shorey — Google review
Great hike just know it is a popular hike so plan ahead! Also they do allow dogs! We misunderstood the website.
Beth M — Google review
This was my first experience hiking and it has such pretty views. The walk is worth it in the end, and I really think the stairs to the top was the hardest part.
There's a few resting points along the way to take breaks. I recommend bring some snacks and water. The best time to go is a little earlier before everyone gets there(I went around 7/8).
Sleepy — Google review
The trail is good. It'll get really busy this summer and on weekends. Remember to take your trash home and stay on the trail. You can get some good views from the top.
Tim Lozano — Google review
What a cool little gem tucked away near Sedalia, Colorado. First time visiting here, shooting a fire fighter and her dog for a photo shoot.
The forest service road is is typically bumpy but well worth the drive. Many beautiful spots along the way as you drive in, and camping spots were abundant.
Definitely worth it

Memorial Day was crowded, and presented parking challenges. Great trail, though. Wonderful conditions.
Elena Balandina — Google review
Moderate hike, only because it is all uphill... very well maintained... there are benches here and there to take much needed rests for some... once you get high enough, you will be in awe with the amazing view... unfortunately, I didn't make it top the top structure, but understandable, the pup wasn't sure about going up the stairs... LONG staircase going up, up, up... from where I was, already could see so far, from up there you could probably see the whole state ❤️
CAROLYN CASHMAN — Google review
Loved this hike! The views were breathtaking and it was the right amount of a challenge.
Made it to the lookout without spikes but there were definitely some icy areas.
Pamela Marie — Google review
Devils Head Lookout was one of the most breathtaking views I have ever had a privilege to witness! Now, I will say that the hike to the very top of the fire red stairs, is moderately a workout, especially if you’re traveling from another state where you’re not already above sea level. So I will advice to take as many breaks as possible if you’re struggling to breathe (especially since it’s about 9,000 feet above sea level). Regardless of the efforts to get to the top, the view itself washes away all of that. I highly recommend this hike to everyone!
Jennifer Martinez — Google review
Amazing view after the hike , its going to be worth once your at the top.
Shoes with good grip are recommended.
For a beginner hike , it would take around 1.25hour to reach top with multiple breaks
Recommended to carry small snacks and water.
Be prepared for muddy road for 30-45mins on your way in and out. People traveling from North Denver make sure you take the same direction where highway exit 61 is pointed, on your way back.
Kaushik — Google review
Amazing hike, we went there on Saturday, July 29th. We found parking next to the restrooms steps away from the trail entrance.
The trail is 1.5 miles up to the lookout. 3.0 miles roundtrip if you walk from the parking next to the trail entrance.
There's an overflow parking down at the entrance. Trail gets crowded, so you'll not be alone in the weekend.
Take water and comfortable shoes.
Eduardo Rivera — Google review
Loved this hike. It wasn't super challenging from a distance and elevation perspective. The views were amazing, but it was cloudy and hazy in August. We talked to the ranger for a bit. She just wants people to know that she is working up there and isn't a personal tour guide.
Adam Sweetser — Google review
Hiked mid-July on a Sunday and reached the trailhead around 3:15 pm. Was able to find parking at the main lot. If going earlier parking might become an issue. Coming to the trail; very dry with slippery sandy portions so make sure you are hiking with good traction shoes. The views from the top are amazing to say the least with continental divide very visible and clear. Windy at the top so prepare accordingly and Sunscreen up y’all!
The US Air Force Academy is a prominent military training facility in Colorado Springs, which attracts millions of tourists each year. It offers visitors a glimpse into the history and training of pilots and other airmen.
Visited the United States Air Force Academy in early August and was simply awestruck by the history, mission, character and quality of people who first organized the institution, all the graduates over time, and the proud character of the individuals attending the academy. Beautiful campus nestled in the north part of Colorado Springs, with plenty of space and neat, air-themed buildings. The chapel was under renovation/construction when we visited so we could not view it, but there are plenty of images and models around to get an idea of how beautiful and majestic the building is. We don't have any family members in the military, but we greatly appreciated the valuable opportunity to learn about this wonderful institution and the amazing work of the people associated with it. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
Shingo S. Ishida — Google review
Beautiful place and inspiring. The cadet chapel is very nice. It’s a MUST visit place if you are in Colorado Springs area.
Highly recommend it!
Amo Cenare — Google review
We visited the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in hopes that our daughter will be attending next year. It is a highly respected institution that is known for producing some of the most dedicated and skilled military officers in the United States Air Force. With a focus on integrity, excellence, and service, the Academy prepares its students to meet the challenges of military service with honor and distinction.
Beyond its academic and ethical rigor, the Air Force Academy also offers a vibrant and diverse community for its students. Cadets come from all walks of life, and the Academy prides itself on fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging.
It would be a blessing to be a part of this prestigious academy.
Kelly Haynes — Google review
The price is right. It's a top-level education at zero cost. There are, of course, some strings attached.
Alex Kolkena — Google review
Views from USAFA are inspiring and give citizens understand how our military leaders are developed
Stephen D. Marino — Google review
What an impressive place! Not just the beauty and the organization of it, but the respect for the academy and the respect for the service is present. The size of the grounds is immense, and we only stayed on the roads, not having time to go on any of the walking paths. Even though the chapel is currently closed, we still learned a lot through the visitor's center, and the video they showed was informative as well. Would have loved to have had more time here.
John Landeck — Google review
My husband made a second trip to get my prescription which said on the recording that it would be ready on Friday after 2:00 pm. He tried calling but they would not answer the phone and of course it was not ready again. Have no idea what is happening at the USAF Academy but the prescriptions now are never ready when they say it is in their recording. From now on we are not going to pick it up until we get text from them saying it is ready. Of course I am going to run out of this important medication.
Tamara P Chandler — Google review
The youngest of our military academies, it is worth taking the self guided tour. We were able to see a great deal of the academy and much of its history.
Annette Porter — Google review
Beautiful and inspiring. Love this country! The plane at the entrance is amazing! Whoa!
Patrick Vandiver — Google review
Interesting college. Awesome and incredibly difficult and kind of miserable all at the same time. As a cadet, the best part is the other people the worst part is your own weaknesses. Will make you a stronger person in every way even if you don’t graduate.
Jack Peterson — Google review
Love this training area with museum, planetarium, chapel

We visited falcon Trail beautiful view 13 mile hike we did a 4.8 in and out next time we go we're going to do the full 13
Dave Pigon — Google review
What a place!! It will stir your patriotism. At the visitor's center, a movie explains how they train the cadets. You can take a walking tour of the beautiful campus, visit their museum, and drive around the beautiful places where the cadets work out and train. It will make you proud to know you are supporting something like this.

A beautiful park with breath-taking sandstone formations and stunning views of the mountains, Garden of the Gods is a popular tourist destination in Colorado Springs. It's perfect for outdoor activities, with plenty to see and do, including hiking trails and a visitor center.
Breathtaking!! We arrived early and was able to get a good parking spot. The Visitor's Center was really informative and cool. The gift shop has some really nice items and the staff was nice. We walked the trails and took some amazing pictures. Nature is beautifully created. And it's free, you can't beat that.
Kay Lafleur — Google review
Such an amazing experience! There are short walks and longer walks. A nice public restroom next to parking lot 2. The visitor center is awesome! They have a nice little gift shop and you can pick up a map there. It also has some amazing views too! It also has a little cafe if you want to grab coffee or snacks before going hiking.
Selena Daryl — Google review
Beautiful rock formations. You will be greeted with balanced rock with a narrow road to the visitor centre. The road is a loop with various scenic spots. I believe the place would be more beautiful during dawn or dusk. Great for hiking, walking or just being with nature !!
Rishikesh Nalapur — Google review
Our first stop was at the Visitor’s Center. The man at the information desk was helpful and courteous. Since we were pushing a baby stroller he pointed the paved route for us. The view from the Center is beautiful and a great place for pictures. It is a good idea to bring water. While the paved hiking is not strenuous the dry climate will leave you thirsty!
Richard Blake — Google review
Such an amazing and majestic place. This was a great place for the whole family. The scenes are gorgeous and the kids loved climbing around on the rocks. It’s super clean and the paths are well taken care of. Add it to your “must-see” list. You won’t regret it.
Stevie Torres — Google review
This place is amazing. Such beautiful vistas, I could spend an entire day just taking it all in. You can drive your car up the road and there's a parking lot that meets a trailhead. The path is concrete and well maintained. In fact, the entire area is meticulous. We got a good way down the path and turned back because it started to rain. But this is a wondrous place that is good for the soul.
Nathan Wadman — Google review
One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. No joke. There is something for everyone here! There are concrete sidewalks throughout the park, as well as more primitive trails with some elevation if that’s your thing. The visitor’s center is also very nice.
Kenny Spade — Google review
Fun experience walking around and seeing the formation of the rocks there and the surrounding areas. The park is kept very clean and tidy. You can see caution signs if you're not clear if you can go or do certain things. Maps are well placed around to make sure you know where you are at all times. People there are friendly and the views are even better. Everywhere you look is a sight to see. Traffic is not that bad, but I didn't go at their peak times. It was open till late, which was great as we got to see the sunset.
ngawang sherpa — Google review
We visited on a Monday afternoon, not too crowded. The visitor center is really cool, all the touch screens actually work! The staff were very helpful and the gift shop has some cute stuff. Everything is very accessible on the paths, if you have a wheelchair or stroller you can navigate safely. It’s a great time and it’s free! The weather was great, just a little snow here and there.
Corey Green — Google review
Absolutely amazing place to venture. We spent hours enjoying the sights and could have easily spent longer. There are many trails. Animals to watch for. The restrooms are very well maintained, as is the whole park. Dog, kid friendly. There are areas that are not mobility friendly for wheelchair access and strollers, but there are plenty of other areas to explore that are.
Kayla Escudero — Google review
It's absolutely beautiful. Did the Siamese Twins trail. It was a little tricky to stay on coarse. We started at the trading post, its probably better from the actual trailhead. the paths were clear but it just wasn't clear if you were on the correct path. The map was not too helpful. But we had GPS on so could always see where the trading post was and the other people on trail were helpful in letting us know if we were on the right track. But aside from that the scenery is absolutely amazing. We saw deer and a cute, way too accustomed to humans squirrel. And lots of cool birds. Could spend all day just staring at the beautiful views of valleys hills and rock formations. Super grateful there is no charge to enter, although we did our part by spending money in the gift shop and trading post!
Leila D. — Google review
It doesn't matter whether it's your first time or you've been a hundred times it will always be breathtaking and connect you with nature no matter what time of year it is! The drive is absolutely beautiful through the park. Trails are well maintained and many are handicap accessible. Access to Rampart Road will take you on a fun 4-wheeling drive.
Bucket list stop for visitors for sure. Beautiful trading post with lots of local gifts.
Amanda Tolles — Google review
Unique, wonderful, picturesque place to go for a hike/walk.
Mountain Biking, there is a designated area for mountain biking.
Only downside, it is so popular that it can be a bit crowded and difficult to find parking at times.
Most enjoyable at off-peak times.
J C — Google review
This was amazing. It was so cool to see and actually walk around and climb on these rocks. So many trails and spots to park. There are some trails that are shared with horses. So watch out for horse droppings. They even have picnic areas with tables so you can bring your own food and eat with your family and friends. Pretty cool to actually see and touch all that stuff. One of my favorite spots I found.
isaac sapp — Google review
they have a cafe in the visitors center and a cute gift shop. there are plenty of paved paths to walk along around the park, along with dirt paths that are less busy. we saw many people climbing on the rocks and the weather was great so there were many animals wandering around. lots of birds too
Jade F — Google review
My overall experience has been incredible here. Definitely not a place that you get to explore in a few hours or even a whole day. I'd say to plan the spots that you want to explore and revisit if you have time. If you are a hiker, on the map the Scotsman Picnic Ground has a great trail, just watch out for horse poop everywhere as this is a pretty popular riding for horse owners.
Carla Gorosito Cox — Google review
Such a beautiful place! I went hiking one day but didn’t get to see everything before the sun went down. I went back the next day to catch the sunrise and see what I missed the day before. There are so many cool things to see all over the place.
I went later in the day on the first day so it wasn’t too crowded. The same for the sunrise, there was hardly anyone there. So amazing that there’s no charge for this park!
Steph West — Google review
It goes without saying that this place is beautiful. The visitors center was really nice all kinds of information about the area. It was a little bit crowded but it seemed to be pack with the kind of people who loved where they were so it was great vibes. My kids loved it and didn't want to stop hiking. There is a lot of area roped off I'm sure with good reason but i wish we could explore around off the path a little bit.
kristina cuddeback — Google review
This was my first time in Colorado Springs and this is a must see. The park is easy to drive in and through. The actual area is at the foot of the mountains and not in the mountains. The terrain is easy to walk. I has areas for you to walk and many, many people do that. It has areas to bike ride and it also has places to horse ride. The are separated places so you can enjoy whatever you are choosing to do. You can drive through the area and it is a nine mile trip, I was told. You can take a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery. The trails are wide and well worn so that anyone can walk them. There is a lot of traffic but it is worth the effort and be ready to take pictures. You could definitely spend a day just walking and riding. Loved it. There is a trading post there as well. and the nature center is kinda nice but average.
Tom Bush — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Colorado Springs area. Best of all, this park is free to the public. Parking is free at the visitor center but it can fill up quickly during the day. There are plenty of parking spaces with free shuttle about 5 minutes from the visitor center. You can drive into the garden but there are limited parking spaces there.
There are lots of hiking trails but if you are looking for a short hike, the park rangers will recommend the 1 mile paved loop around the famous rock formations not far from the visitor center.
If you are interested, you can buy tickets for a 45-minute Jeep tour around the entire park for $20 per person. There are bikes for rent as well.
This park is open from 5 AM to 10 PM in the summer. We also visited the park the following day to take pictures and see the sun rise over the rock formations. It was beautiful and there were very few people in the park during sunrise.

Immaculate, breathtaking, mind boggling. These words don't even begin to describe the feelings you get when you try to think about how everything about these dwarfs your existence. When it comes to the time and resources at play to bring you these amazing views. Recommend watching the 15 minute video at the visitor center to get an idea of how these formations can't about.
Gerid Adams (Wired4Sound) — Google review
Free to enter. I wished one of the main parking lots was bigger, it took awhile to find a parking space. You have to sit and wait for people to leave. Hiking is easy and you can go as leisurely as you want. It’s better to do this one in the morning to avoid the massive amounts of tourists coming. You can easily spend a few hours here.
Nicholas P — Google review
No doubt this place is one of the best small hike locations to explore in the area. Lots of beautiful views and hiking paths. Bring water and make sure to stay hydrated. I would also advise proper shoes that cover your ankles and toes, the sand is red and will dust your shoes with a fine coating (easy to clean off, but be aware it's part of the experience) all in all, I highly suggest this park.

Beautiful, great place to walk your dogs (just keep them on their leash and clean up if they go to the bathroom). Lots of parking, great walking paths. Welcome center and visitor center has lots of great info and a little cafe.

This place was absolutely beautiful. We made a trip out to pick up my daughter and she encouraged us to check it out before we left. They did have a picnic area, restrooms, and if you’re into rock climbing they had designated areas for that as well! I would love to fly back to Colorado and explore this place some more!

Must visit place in Colorado Springs, CO.
Loved the transition of colors by the evening and view of different mountain rock formations. Really the Garden of Gods.
Could spend entire day here on the trails and view spots.
Got well maintained parking spots, trail heads and restrooms.

Nice place to take a hike on or bike different trails. You can picnic here and see some amazing rock formations. It's nice to just drive through also if not the walking type.

Climbing is epic! As a new outdoor climber, the grades are sandbagged. There are few bolts, we used trad gear on most sport routes. The first bold is often 15ft+ from the ground, may not be able to get it even with a stick clip. Not a place I would recommend for beginners, but for those up for the challenge, it is a playground of old classic routes with incredible views.

Incredible experience. We chose to do the audio guided tour in our vehicle. There are many places to park along the way and explore on foot. The views of Pikes Peak were great once the clouds clear.

Love the formations, but not all the tourists... we go when it's not expected to be bust, much better people wise. Big park, drive around to the different spots and park, lots to see. Don't step in the red clay mud, it will ruin your shoes.
Cave of the Winds Mountain Park is a famous tourist attraction located west of Colorado Springs. It features captivating caverns with stunning rock formations, and since being discovered in 1880 it has been a popular tourist destination. There are several tour options available, including spelunking and a zip line & ropes course.
The view from the top of the mountain was absolutely beautiful. There are a number of observation spots for you to take in the view. The souvenir shop was fantastic with such a favorite of gems, cups, clothing, carvings, etc. The tour guide was very well educated and the customer service was a compliment to the field of hospitality. The tour is for all ages and can be completely fairly easily. There are some tighter spaces so I do not suggest wearing a backpack.

I really enjoyed the cave tour. Anna was an enthusiastic and fun tour guide, and the cave itself was interesting. It was a steady paced 1 hour, and although there were many sets of stairs, it was not a difficult walk.
The view from the terrace at the entrance was glorious, and it’s worth the drive just for the view.
I also did the “zip line” which is more of a zippy ski lift. The 2 minute ride was not quite worth the $15 price tag, but Paul, the operator was such a kind and interesting young gentleman.

My 11 year old son and I did the discovery cave tour and it was great. Some really cool caves, an entertaining and educational guide as well. Then we did the pioneer pass which was the high ropes course the bat-a-pult and the rock climbing wall. That was also a lot of fun. Hanging over the cliff standing on a spinning tube gets your adrenaline going. I capped it off by doing the Terror-dactyl, which was awesome. I thought everything was a pretty reasonable value. The place is also well ran, lots of staff around and all the staff were well trained, seemed to really care about doing a good job and provided great service. Would recommend spending half a day here.

My family and I did the regular tour, and our tour guide was Sonia. She was very personable and funny. They have a time schedule to adhere to so sometimes it felt a tiny bit rushed so that the next group could get into that cavern room, but otherwise I still had time to take plenty photos and videos. I really wanted to buy the photo they took, but my husband and daughter weren’t ready when the photo was taken. It would be great if there was an opportunity to retake photos. There might be, but it wasn’t mentioned and I didn’t ask. We plan to visit again when we visit Colorado next. Def recommend!

We had a fantastic tour guide, Kira! The tour was engaging and interesting. The cave was full of great features and formations. We had 3 kids this us ages 9 and 11 and they loved the ropes course and climbing wall. This park provided hours of great sights and entertainment for the family.

We had a very enjoyable tour of Cave of the Winds. We had a small tour group (11:45 on a Monday) and a great guide (Olive). She really made the tour fun and interesting for everyone. Spectacular views from the reception area before we ventured into the caves and everyone working there was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend you visit.

This place is a lot of fun there is plenty of things to do including the cave tour. Definitely recommend doing that. I had the bald tour guide (forgot his name, but he made it very fun). I got a good workout walking in it but learned a lot as well. Worth checking out before or after Garden of the Gods.

This place was awesome! I really enjoyed the cave tour. It's a really cool place to go to. We had a baby and adults; some areas in the cave are a bit low, so you have to watch your head. The activities are pretty cool. Be ready for an adventure for sure. Everyone in our group had a great time. Very informative tour. I've lived in Colorado practically all my life, and it was my first time visiting. I highly recommend getting out to see it. also has such fresh air.

Would give more stars if i could. What a unique and affordable experience! The cave tour was amazing! We did the discovery tour and it was very easy to operate for anyone who may have anxiety/ claustrophobia. Our tour guide was Gale, who was absolutely amazing!!! She is extremely knowledgeable, hilarious, and brought my friends and i much joy. If you are looking for a cave to explore this is the tour! Get there early to soak in the drive up and the observation decks, so beautiful!

Great experience!
Amazing view, the discovery cave tour is nice and this ride (Terror-Dactyl) where you go "flying" between the canyons is top notch!
My only suggestion is that they could implement a system for "virtual line" for this ride. I had just 8 people on front of me and took a little bit more than an 1 hour in line to go in the ride. I have a small kid so it was challenging, but overall, I would totally go there again. Amazing place :)

Had a great time going through the Caverns and our guide Kathrine was amazing. She spoke my language of dad jokes the entire time. My son’s favorite part was when she turned all the lights out and we couldn’t see a thing! It was really cool! I highly recommend this tour!

We had an absolute blast of a time, We did the lantern tour with Rowan, and it was an awesome experience. She did a great job showing the cave and telling the stories. We had such a good time, we did the discovery tour as well. The caves are natural, so there are some low spots and some slippery spots, as well as stairs. I would recommend if you are scared of the dark or small spaces to stick to the discovery tour. For the lantern tour, Rowan did an awesome job pointing out any obstacles all while keeping the ambiance and flow of the tour. If you've gone through the discovery tour and are looking for a different take on the cave of the winds, I definitely recommend the lantern tour

Spelunking is pretty awesome. More so when your guide is John. He was very knowledgeable and passionate when touring us. He made sure everyone was safe and comfortable. You do have to do some bending over to pass through the caves. Their are also stairs at certain points. The park also has activities for your children and a cool zip line if you are brave enough. If you are hungry and would like to relax a bit, they have a small restaurant that will whip you up sandwiches, 🍟 and such. Well worth the visit.

This place is amazing. I came here as a kid, brought the family back and they have made it so family friendly that we stayed ALL DAY, open to close. Mariah our tour guide was very funny and informative. Eric and Ethan on the ropes course and rock climbing wall were awesome to my family. (sorry team the only two names I remembered) whole crew does an awesome job! Very well run team!
If you question if this is a great thing to do for kids.... If they're over 42" the answer is YES!

This was a fun experience. Driving up the side of the mountain before you get to the entrance is always exciting. We paid $92 for two kids two adults to do a cave tour. It was neat inside, $92 is a bit steep though. We paid an additional $15 for each child to do an activity outside of the entrance. You could pay $25 each to do all of the activities including the batapult which was the ride over the canyon. The workers were friendly.

Super cool cave tour. I did the regular (non-lantern) tour. You explore quite a bit but it's definitely a beginner tour. Flooring is level, smooth, and clean. Nothing to worry about with getting your shoes dirty. Couple ladders you need to climb so if you can't climb a ladder for some reason I wouldn't recommend going. Saw people of all sizes on the tour and everyone made it thru the low height spaces. I definitely want to come back and do the haunted lantern tour!

My wife and I did the discovery tour. We had about 15 people in our group. The tour lasted about 45 minutes. $26. Our tour guide was Maddie, and she was amazing! She is full of jokes. There are a lot of stairs and a few tight spaces but it was a great experience. I especially loved the part where they turn all of the lights off and you experience cave darkness!

This incredible place is located at the top of a small peak in the mountains! It's easily accessible right off the main highway. They offer ziplines and outdoor activities as well as a variety of cave tours. The standard cave tour is about an hour and well worth the money.
You will be in a natural cave and have to climb up a few sets of stairs and will be confined to a small space but you can request to leave if your uncomfortable and someone will escort you out.
It's absolutely incredible the work they've done on the cave since it was first discovered.
They have a small area to hang out and view the mountains and a hut selling snacks and beer/wine products at the beginning of the tour. Be responsible you do have to drive up a cliff side to get here! There's a larger gift shop and cafe once you complete the tour on the other side of the parking lot and large area to enjoy the view.

First time in a cave and we did the discovery tour and it was awesome! My 6 and 9 year old really enjoyed it, too! Our tour guide Jack was very knowledgeable and educated on caves (he told us he did his undergraduate thesis on that cave which is awesome!). We learned a lot and really enjoyed the whole experience! I would recommend everyone pay a visit to this tour.

It was a great experience for my 3&4 year old. The tour was very doable, the stairway was not a lot although we did have to pick the kids up to go through few parts.
The cave itself was alright, since I saw many cave before back in Vietnam I wasn't impressed.
On other note, the road to drive up there was quite scary if you are not familiar with the mountains. It had many sharp turn. We came on a Sunday day and no ice on the road, yet I was so scared driving up. I can't imagine the day of snowing and icing would be like. Please be careful driving there.
I don't like the fact that they try to take pictures at the beginning of the tour to sell it back to us and didn't let us take pictures at that particular spot.

My boyfriend and I originally went on the discovery tour with Slim Jim. It was such a fun experience! We enjoyed learning the history of the Caves. They were amazing to see & crazy to imagine people crawling through these tiny spaces. We ended up taking the last haunted tour of the day. We went during the week so it felt like a private tour. It made everything feel sooo much spookier. Let’s not talk about the scary stuff we experienced in the caves while we were in there….It was such an awesome experience. We took the tour with… I believe her name was Chloe? Cleo? I think she had curly red hair. She was so amazing!! Thank you for the experiences! We’ll be back for sure!

Amazing tours, lantern and non lantern alike. The guides were very informative and entertaining. There’s some tricky stairs along the way, but just pay attention and you’ll be perfectly fine. Cool water pools and stalactites/stalagmites. Even got to see their natural “oriental” rock garden. They also take photos at the beginning of the tour (available for purchase at the end)

Had a wonderful day spending time at the Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. My group had Olive as a tour guide and she made the visit something to remember. I still have her funny cute jokes she made stuck in my head. Would recommend visiting the website to view any specials that may be available as well as the different tours they offer. Olive helped demonstrate what the "Haunted Lantern Tour", and it will be something I'll book in the future when I'm back in the area. Wonderful learning about the history and geology of the area and motives for search. After/before the tour, the mountain has many good views and a deck for viewing the scenery.

We loved the 11 am Lantern Tour with Mariah!! She was a fantastic tour guide with great stories about the history and haunts in the cave. The Cave of The Winds has been open since 1881 so there is definitely a ton of history to talk about.
As part of the tour, there is a 250 foot long area of the cave that you mostly have to stoop down because the cave is only 42” at the tallest. This area is the challenging part of the tour.
The tour was a good 1 hour and 40 minutes long and well worth the price of admission.
Thanks for the memories as we definitely had a GREAT time!! We will be back on our next trip to Colorado.

My family and I visited from out of town over last week. It is a bit overpriced (about $110 for a family of four - Discovery Package), but the tour and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. This was my first cave experience and I was truly blown away with information. The view from the patio is breath taking and we loved the photo ops with the stuffed bear and oversized chair. Thank you for the memories.

We did the Discovery tour, at $28 a person. That may be a little high, but this tour within the cave was absolutely stunning. It boasts 1/2 mile, and 196 stair steps. That may sound like a lot, but it wasn't. It is not handicap accessible simply due to being a cave, however if you are able to walk and climb semi-steep steps, this is worth it. You do NOT have to be in shape to do this tour.
Autumn was our tour guide and she did an amazing job. She was kind, took time to explain different aspects of the cave and its history, and personally I thought her jokes were great.
Highly recommend going. Children will love this but you should make sure they keep their hands to themselves as touching parts of the cave can damage the ecosystem and formation of the cave. Adults of all ages will love this as well- we did!

The cave, which was discovered in 1881 by two brothers, was only officially opened to public business in the 1990s. A lot of man-made facilities were built before open to the public, they preserved most of the cave while letting the public understand this magical geological structure. These artificial facilities allow most short tourists (tourists who are too tall to easily hit their heads during the trip) to be introduced to the tour by the tour guides. Great place for the whole family to have a little adventure together.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is an award-winning zoo with more than 750 animals across varied terrain. It is only ten minutes from the resort and guarantee genuine animal interactions.
This zoo is so good! If you're local I would definitely recommend a membership as it's a much better deal. We come every couple weeks and the kids are never bored. It's a bit of a hike in places so wear comfy shoes and I always bring my stroller for the younger kids and to pile our stuff on. Feeding the giraffes is always a highlight. Parking is free and they have a few options for eating but we always pack a lunch. Will definitely be returning often!

Best zoo I've ever been to! The animal enclosures are large with shade and running water. You get to interact with the animals not just stare at them from a distance. Feeding the giraffes was amazing! My kids were excited to stand right next to penguins, wallaby and feed tropical birds. The best part is that the zoo has a timed entry which really helps control the crowd size, we went on Memorial weekend and had zero lines.

I've been to the zoo 3 times in the past year. It's hands down the best zoo I've ever visited. The giraffe feeding experience is so exciting for all ages. But they have several other animal feeding experiences as well. They teach you a lot about conservation with their amazing staff and daily demonstrations. Time entry also keeps the crowds to a minimum so you can get up close with the animals. The Wallabies hopping around at your feet is one of my favorite attractions. And their Primate area is top notch. With informative employees all around to answer questions and teach you more about conservation. The views are breathtaking, and the food is great as well. I recommend the BBQ place first, but the others are also good 👍 and don't forget to visit the Shrine of the sun after the zoo, it's worth the drive up and included in your entry to the zoo.

Fantastic zoo! The giraffe exhibit is my favorite part! Getting to feed the giraffes is such a cool experience! But be sure to walk around the exhibit to feed the giraffes away from the entrance! They want lettuce too! Lots of walking at this zoo, and a decent amount walking up hill. Brings lots of water!! And sun hat and sunscreen highly recommended!

Incredible zoo experience! The exhibits present in a more natural environment being on the side of the mountain. All the zoo staff we have encountered have been very friendly and knowledgeable. The food court is awesome! Very easy to navigate and great prices for what is offered. The sky ride is a must as long as you're not afraid of heights. The view at the top is absolutely beautiful. The HUGE win associated with this zoo is the ability to feed the giraffes and have that interactive experience. The kiddos absolutely love it and adults do too!

COZY AND UNIQUE LITTLE ZOO! LOVE GIRAFFES? MUST SEE!
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a little out of the way but well worth it. I've been to tons of zoos but this one was unique in its location and a far more relaxing experience than some of the larger zoos in the states.
If you love Giraffes, this is a must stop. There are eateries on site with amazing views from decks and a one-of-a-kind view from the gandola lift up and down the mountain.

Amazing zoo experience. Just WOW to the people that trained the Grizzly bears. They are so trained and is so fun to watch. I felt like a kid watching that. Besides that organization in the zoo is perfect. The water fans are amazing for this summer season. The feeding experiences are with it. Highly recommend

I loved this zoo! What a beautiful day it was. I enjoyed feeding the giraffes ($3 or $5 bundles). They've got other animals you can feed as well. It was a little crowded today. Definitely recommend it to others. Parking is free. Remember to purchase your tickets in advance too.

I am only giving 3 out of 5 because they have the sky ride. That’s a major bonus. If it didn’t, I would give 2/5 based on animals and presentation. Staff was nice and helpful. Also, you can feed the giraffes, hippos, and elephants during certain times of the day which was pretty cool. You can pet the goats and giraffes fairly easily. It is high elevation so required comfortable shoes. You can pay $3 for all shuttle.
Shaneequa Henderson — Google review
It was one of the best zoos I have ever visited. I like that they have a set number of allowed visitors per day, which helps to keep the zoo less crowded and allows for a better quality exploration process. You definitely want to buy tickets in advance because there is no chance you get them at the gate. I have to say, tickets are very reasonably priced for a large zoo like that. Plus, they have military and senior discount.
We ended up walking around the zoo for hours. There is so much to see and do! Excellent location for the whole family. You can feed giraffes and budgies, admire elephants, and rhinos, enjoy the picturesque views of Colorado Springs and Cheyenne Mountain during the Sky Ride, and much more.

This is one of the best zoos we have visited. The fact that is is built on a mountain was amazing. We went on 10/8/2023, the weather was great and the animals were active. Their enclosures seemed like their natural habitats. But even if the animals were not as active, the scenic views are breath taking. Love how they made look out spots to take the sites in. I have already recommended this place to other friends and family making a trip to Colorado Springs. We are from Bryan, Texas and would definitely go again when we make a trip back that way.

This zoo is one of the best I have been to. It’s built on the side of a mountain and it is so beautiful. The highlight is the 16 member giraffe tower which you can purchase lettuce to feed them anytime from opening to closing. Plus check out the animal encounters, they are fantastic! Some of the animals will even paint you a picture during the encounter. I highly recommend them. Check their website for details. You can easily spend the day.

Was great to be able to finally visit after hearing wonderful reports of the experience.
Visited with a toddler and a 7 year old who loved the experience especially feeding the giraffes (take cash for the lettuce) and the budgies!
If you have a toddler bring a STROLLER or something they can be carried with or your biceps are going to get a workout at altitude!
For any South Africans feeling homesick you can see the penguins from Boulder Beach!

It is very windy near the entrance but gets better as you go. The zoo is 6,000 feet above sea level, so dress warm 😀 gloves are a must, especially for the little ones. Overall, the zoo is very nice and well built they also have a nice selection of places to eat and shop. We will be back on a warmer day 😀.

The thing that sets the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo apart from other zoos is the number of ways you can get up close and interact with the animals. Most animals have feeding experiences (giraffes, tigers, elephants, goats, chickens, birds) that are reasonably priced compared to similar experiences at other zoos. There are also multiple ways to interact with the environment as you make your way around (two interactive plays areas, beavers dens, caves, large sculptures to climb). It felt like equal parts modern art gallery and zoo in places and made for a great immersive experience. Many of the animals were active while we were there and staff went out of their way to interact with guests and answer questions about the animals.
The only underwhelming exhibit, IMO, was the reptile and bird house. It had more of a pet store vibe looking at the snakes. For how well designed the rest of the exhibits are, I felt like they could do more in there.
If you want to buy food they offer a decent selection of standard zoo food (burgers, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream), although prepare to pay zoo prices. I appreciated that they sold specialty coffee drinks at the Cozy Goat that were decent. We went at lunch time, and while it was hectic and busy, the line moved quickly.
Be prepared to walk! Lots of incline walking because the zoo is in the side of the mountain. I loved the unique views this provided and the extra exercise, but for those not able to walk far, they offer a shuttle around for $3/day.
The ski lift wasn't operating when we went, but looks fun! There's also a carousel to ride for a fee.

Seriously the best Zoo we have been too. You get up close and personal with a lot of the animals. They take great care of all their animals and it's a very clean zoo. My favorite is feeding the giraffes and seeing the penguins up close! We are locals and bought a yearly family pass because the savings are amazing and we get to visit often! Well worth the trip, even in the winter!

This zoo is definitely one of a kind! We got to feed the giraffe and walk up the mountain for amazing views. You could also feed elephants during specific times, but we missed that. There are also restaurants here to grab a quick bite or something to drink. Word of advice is to dress comfortably and bring your own water! Sunscreen is a must and definitely bring sunglasses and / or a hat!
Mae Bangtan — Google review
This was the best zoo I have ever visited. Of course the giraffes were amazing. (There are so many and many people fees them right by where by food but walk down and around the circle and they are on both sides hungry). There fans and water stations everywhere. Kids 4-16 loved it. Each animal area has a "play area" like a hippo that sprays water, jungle gym by monkeys, alligator play. The interactive place has a 🦥 sloth just hanging above your head!
VERY IMPORTANT- it is a timed ticket entry. We arrived at 10 and were not able to get ticketed entry until 1. We went to old Town Colorado Springs and walked around and got ice-cream. (Recommend getting tickets ahead of time). We brought our wagon full of drinks and snacks in a bag and no one said anything. Highly recommend.

Fantastic zoo. I've been to both the Omaha and San Diego zoos and while those are also great, there was something special about this one. It felt much more intimate than those. The layout of the zoo is great and you really felt like it was an experience. It being on the side of a beautiful mountain certainly helped the ambiance. It felt more natural than most zoos. Highly recommend.

What a great experience! We came late Sunday afternoon to fill our day in CO Springs and this place did not disappoint. The cold kept most of the crowds away so it felt like we had the place to ourselves and it seemed like the animals loved the lower temps too because every enclosure had active and moving animals. The indoor buildings were spaced perfectly that when we felt chilled we could duck right in and warm up. The staff was also very friendly and helped me get some great selfies with the penguins while they were out too!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is such a unique and beautiful zoo to visit. It is the only zoo that is built upon a mountain side. This makes this particular zoo very unique because of the elevation change that you get when visiting the zoo. You can be higher on the mountain side and look over the rest of the zoo sitting below you. They have a lot of very spacious and well put together enclosures with many different and unique species of animals. I would highly recommend visiting the giraffe feeding area, where they is a tall boardwalk setup that you can walk around and be at the giraffes height and feed them by hand. I've visited many zoos and this one is probably the most unique and cool zoo to check out.

I've been to several zoos but never expected one so nice at this high elevation! It's very well maintained and has more giraffes than any zoo in the country! My granddaughter loved feeding them! So did my wife! You can easily spend several hours there, and there are several places to hide in the shade on a hot summer day. This place is really worth seeing!

This zoo is AMAZING! 5 star experience. Beautiful, clean, lots of interactive areas, clean bathrooms at every turn. Reasonable food prices. Very active animals and friendly staff. Feeding the giraffes was so fun and the first thing you walk in to upon entry. We’ve been to several larger zoos but this one takes the cake. Winding paths up and down the mountain made it unique to other zoos.

I've been to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo a total of four times while I was stationed at Fort Carson, CO. I got the privilege of visiting the wonderfully cared for animals on Christmas day 2023 during the beautifully orchestrated Electric Safari event; I've been to two Electric Moonlight events; and one "regular" visit with my mother. Nothing is "regular" about this zoo!! Every time I got to visit, it was a new experience! I highly recommend a membership, and the advance ticket system works splendidly! All the staff is warm, kind, knowledgeable, and professional - you can tell they love the animals! The interactive experiences are fun for all ages!

This is an AWESOME zoo! There's a big variety of animals and several opportunities for animal interaction. You can feed some of the animals and many of them you get to see up close. The tiger walked right up to the viewing window it was great. Big animals like elephants hippos and rhinos, small animals and reptiles like snakes, lizards, penguins, birds and many in between. It is up and downhill but it's so worth the walk.

This is a must do when in the area. Feeding the giraffes was definitely a highlight, but having the pleasure of almost being nose to nose with mating penguins...AMAZING!!! I absolutely recommend driving up to the shrine (this is included with your zoo pass admission) as a delightful addition to the zoo. They are a non-profit that does not rely on tax income. So feel free to spend 💰 for a good and fun cause.

Broadmoor Seven Falls is a magnificent waterfall series located in a 1,400-foot-wall box canyon. There are walking and hiking trails, as well as an optional Broadmoor Soaring Adventure that culminates in a rappeland.
This was a cool experience m. I booked a ticket with my mom and her fiancé! We took a trolley to the actual site and it was a beautiful experience! There is a trolley once you get there to take you up to the views or you can walk (we chose to walk). Then there are elevators to get up. It’s definitely more of a sight seeing thing than it is a hike! Well worth the time and money spent!

You cannot drive directly to the falls. There are couple of parking lots closer to this location where you can park and walk. But, there are shuttles from this location which will take you the park area (free of cost), where you can purchase the entry tickets. It’s $17 for the adult and $11 for the kids. The falls are around a mile away from the ticket counter. You can purchase a shuttle ride as well for an additional $2 dollars but we liked to walk and enjoy the views. Once you get to the falls, take the elevator to the seven falls sign to enjoy the beautiful view of the seven falls. You could take the stairs too if you’d like. Afterwards, you could visit the actual falls and if interested take the stairs to the top of the falls.

We got an opportunity to visit this amazing place. We visited without any prior planning, so we wasted lot of time because of this reason.
We reached the right place but we could not get the opportunity to park our car because there was a shuttle bus service for this park. We spend like an hour to wait for our turn in the specified parking lot to get our turn.
When we entered the park, there was lot of walk to reach to the right attraction place but there was still a shuttle inside the park to take to the right place and also the lift to go to the high mountain spot from where we could see the broad view for this park.
one visit was enough to see this park or the surrounding attractions for this park, we may visit sometimes again.

Great place to get back to nature! Beautiful waterfall! Ticket is $17. Drove up to the main parking lot then took a shuttle to the 7 fall location, they have a ticket booth onsite. 15 mins walk up to main water falls and 224 stairs up to the major hike trail! Great sightseeing spot.

Went to Seven Falls to visit the water falls and hiking routes. First, you must park near the equestrian/event center and take a shuttle to the park entrance. Free Shuttle service runs from 10:00 am to 5:45 pm. There are guides to help you through the gate to the ticket booth. General admission is $17.00. Extra $ for a park Shuttle service to the Seven Falls cliffs. It's about a mile walk to the actual water fall. It's a beautiful walk if your willing to walk up hill all the way.
There are restrooms along the way and a gift shop near the Falls. There is a self guided tour through a tunnel. At the end of the tunnel their is an elevator that takes you to the Eagles Nest. The restaurant was closed. They claimed it was due to COVID-19 , but rather I believe it is hiring issues. It's hard to find employees right now.
The Seven Falls were incredible but climbing the ladders were steep. But once you get on top their are a couple of trails. You can get a great view of Colorado Springs at Inspiration Point from the top of the mountain. It's a great way to spend hiking at Colorado Springs.

I absolutely loved this gorgeous place. I know there are many great locations with free entry in Colorado, but this place is definitely worth the entry fee. Strategically located photo spots provide excellent spots for those who need to expand their photo libraries. The Bubble Waffle Sundaes Food Truck with their delicious Ice-cream adds a little extra to your wonderful experience.

All employees that I encountered were very pleasant. It was quite the walk from where you were dropped off by the shuttle to the base of the falls, but it was so beautiful. The stairs mixed with the altitude made for quite the challenge but we made it. It would be nice if the stairs had been a bit wider to accommodate people going up and down at the same time. But otherwise the views were amazing and we truly enjoyed visiting. Will be back the next time we visit Colorado!
Ashley Cook — Google review
There's a scenic and gentle 1-mile hike to the falls from the gate. Then two sets of steep and challenging stairs go straight up the falls or from the Eagles Nest top there is a separate high-up view of the falls, which is also elevator accessible. The waterfalls and views are spectacular and the trails at the top are worth the extra effort to explore a little more of the area. Sep 2023

Had a wonderful time. The parking is about 9 minutes away if you want to park and take a free shuttle. There are other places you might be able to get a spot close by and walk to the entrance.
You can buy your tickets online or at the site but it's best to do online. The "tram" that takes you up the walk to top is good if the 3/4 mi hike is too much. But it's a decent incline hike to the top. Where the restaurant is and where the falls are.
The stairs are steep and straight up with a small rest at the middle. It's a good climb but the altitude is probably more of an issue for people than the stairs. Take your time. All the staff we met along the way were great. Cute little souvenir shop. Lots of picture opportunities.

Just beautiful and breath taking… Awe inspiring… I could just saying poetic things about this experience! If you are in the area it’s a must see. It wasn’t high on my bucket list the day I visited because I didn’t understand what I was going to see. I wholesomely can say I wish it was the place I spent the most time that day at. The views are breath taking. The park is clean and orderly and the staff attending the park were incredibly nice and you could tell they really cared about the park. The water falls were fun to see. The stairs I’d you climb up can be scary to take caution before attempting it! Other than that! Just enjoy cause if you’re anything of a nature lover this place will fill you up with Joy. They also have shuttles for those who may need those services to enjoy the park as well! The park fee I believe is $16.50 plus any additional options. Check their website for more details as weather changes etc.
Have fun!

Despite the rain, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience! My wife and I walked to the falls instead of taking the shuttle. Plus due to the rain, we were handed umbrellas for the time we were there. Although it was little under a mile, the scenic views made it totally worth it. Plus viewing the falls from the elevator was incredible. The walk up the stairs to the top was nerve racking (rightfully so especially in the rain) but totally worth it.

Cool place to see. Once we parked, they bused us to the falls area. There is a tram you can take up to the falls if you prefer not to walk up there. There is also an elevator you can use to view the falls (or stairs if you want a challenge, I did). Also, there are stairs up by the falls that you can take and view the falls from the top (I did not). Around 7-7:30, they light up the falls. It wasn't dark enough at that time when we went and the lights were hard to see. We did have to wait in line to be bused back to the parking area since it was closing time.

This is such a beautiful place to visit! You walk quite a bit and there are a lot of stairs, but the views are so beautiful and breathtaking. The hikes above the falls are so serene and worth the visit. Well worth the $18 entrance fee. Bring your own water and snacks. Drinks are $5 (water bottle or soda)

Park across the Walmart (you will see signs everywhere) and a trolley takes you to the entrance. Beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, stroller friendly, couldn’t go up the stairs because of the snow but luckily there is an elevator that can take you to the top. We enjoyed our time here and highly recommend having lunch at the restaurant called 1858 within the park, it’s a must!

Love this place! Professional and clean. The falls are beautiful and there are options for all ability levels. The walk to the base is lovely. The stairs are steep but doable. This is a unique experience you should definitely take part in. Senior tickets (60+) are $15 and adults $18. But well worth the price. Spent about 2 hrs there and loved every minute of it. You can purchase tickets in advance, but I did not and was able to buy them at the park. But if you are going in the summer (which is peak season) I would recommend maybe getting tickets ahead of time so you can be sure you have a spot to get in

Very professional operation to help the flow of visitors transport. Free shuttle to the Seven Falls location from a designated parking area was very efficient. The short hike from the park entrance gave time to take in the surroundings. So glad to see this canyon up close. Very spectacular. The restaurant was perfect for our birthday lunch.

This place was amazing to visit, definitely a must if you're visiting anywhere within an hour of it. The trails are all kept neat and picked up along with having clear paths to ensure you don't lose track of where you're heading. The trams are very timely and worth the $4 a ticket. The restrooms are very clean but there's no handicap access.

This is a beautiful place to visit and get your exercise. The steps up to the eagles nest was somewhere around 175-185 steps. There was an elevator that you could use. Then for the waterfall, there was about 285 steps. If the gift shop would have had a t-shirt that said "I made it to the top and survived", I probably would have purchased it.

Absolutely beautiful walk through the canyon up to the waterfall and then the waterfall itself is beautiful. We also visited the restaurant while we were there and it was very good. Would highly recommend this attraction.

This is a great hike for the family. Not everyone can do it, but you can pay to get a ride up the mountain where you can take an elevator to the other part of a trail.
It takes over 2 to 3 hours.

Pikes Peak is a well-known mountain peak in Colorado that stands at 14,110ft and is made of pink granite. While not the tallest of Colorado's 14ers, it's famous for its stunning views and attracts over half a million visitors every year. The Ute tribe originally named it the Mountain of the Sun, which accurately describes this majestic peak that rises straight up from the plains.
Hiked up through Barr trail and drove back from the top. Thanks to my friend who came up in his car to pick us up. Hard and enjoyable hike with beautiful views along the way. Views from the top were stunning! Would love to travel in the train next time. Our drive down was really fantastic with lot of great stops to enjoy the nature and views!

America's Mountain is an amazing place to visit. We took the Cog Railway to the top and we were left awe struck. It's no wonder America the Beautiful was inspired by Pike's Peak.
You can hike 13 miles up, take the train, or drive to the top. No matter which way you go, be sure to walk all the way around the top and venture through the visitors center too.

We went to the top of the mountain through the car, and it was amazing. Views were breathtaking, and we had an excellent time..if you are traveling with kids, they might feel a little light-headed, and the drive up to the mountain is not for the faint heart.

This is a unique high elevation summit experience. There are not a lot of mountains you can drive, hike, or take a railway to the top. The visitor center is nice. The views 360⁰ are spectacular. The summit is very busy.

One of the very nice outdoor spots to visit in the Denver area. We visited during Labor Day weekend. It was so crowded. It needs a pass to visit the top of the peak. We got lucky to visit the peak despite no planning from our side. The view from the top was absolutely gorgeous. I was pleasantly surprised to see the train service to the top. Next time, I will plan for it. The 360 degree view from the top was spectacular. Sitting at an altitude of 14000+ feet, I could feel the altitude and reduce oxygen levels. The rangers also check for brake pads temperature on the way down and provide recommendations based on the result. In our case, we were asked to wait for 30-40 mins as the brake pads temperature reading was too high. The rangers recommend turning off AC on the way up and using lower gear on the way down.

A very fun day drive and summit experience. Make sure to be ready for the reduced oxygen at the higher elevations. It will be about 20 degrees colder at the Summit, as well.

I’m terrified of heights and I had to drive along those narrow roads with those steep drop offs but I’d do it again to see that view. It really makes you appreciate nature and just how vast the Rocky Mountains are. My photos couldn’t do it justice but just go and see it. If you’re considering it just go do it. Also try the Pikes Peak doughnuts at the cafeteria and check out the gift shop!

Beautiful peaks to drive to. Landscape wise, not much to see. The challenge is can you withstand the %66 oxygen level and the cold and wind. Not many scenic spot.

Awesome drive up the mountain in your own vehicle except the last three miles in a bus. Just be sure to drink lots of water to keep from getting altitude sickness. The food at the cafe was really good also and reasonably priced

We drove to the top but I have been up hiking and by cograil in the past. Each way to go up gives an amazing experience with breathtaking views. I couldn't believe how much snow was on the summit for later June. I love going up this peak and I enjoyed the amazing doughnuts at the top.

Ridiculous that they charge $50+ to drive up a mountain... But it's definitely something to check off your list if you're in the area. The $15 admission is if you're not going to the top.
We did not make reservations and were allowed entry with no problem.
Make sure your brakes are in good condition and that you know how to drive downhill without using them (using low gears instead).
Set aside around 3+ hrs for the trip depending on how long your stop offs are. Bring snacks and water.
Beautiful scenery. Be sure to go when the weather is clear and have some high altitude donuts at the top... They really are amazing. The gift shop sells some cool stuff that you can only get there.
If you have kids, be sure to check out the North Pole amusement park.

An absolutely incredible experience – reaching 14,115 feet up was mind-blowing! Describing the view from the top is a challenge; it's something you truly understand once you've lived it. Opting for the railway train ascent, I would wholeheartedly give it a 💯 recommendation! 🚂🏔️👌

Wow!! Is the best way to describe this experience. The drive up takes about an hour and it is best to go slow and steady especially around the turns. The view driving up is beautiful but once you get to the top, WOW it is just amazing. It was cold when we went but the experience is so worth it, just dress appropriately. Also don't forget to stop along the way up because there are some really beautiful places to see and take photos. 😊

Beautiful and fun drive to the summit, it’s 19 miles one way and has lots of gorgeous views! Lots of scenic viewpoints on the way up, we also saw a herd of bighorn sheep! The visitor center at the top is really cool also and you can look in all directions. Highly recommend! Cost $32 for the two of us to come up

Just amazingly worth it. We tried to get a reservation to drive to the top, but couldn’t. But we were able to drive to mile 16 and park and then ride the free shuttle the next 4 miles to the top. It was a pretty cold day, but we did it in shorts and it really wasn’t all that bad. The views were amazing.

A definite MUST see if you are in the Colorado Springs area! The pics do not do this ride justice by far. A few things to note.
Train is about 1 hour up and a little less back down with about 30 minutes at the peak, so plan for about 3 hours.
It will be cold at the top, so plan accordingly! We went up in July and there was still snow.
Also, check the weather and buy tickets in advance. I would recommend sitting on the 3 seat side. We were lucky to have a break in the clouds on the way up, but at the top and the way down, we were in the clouds and had little visibility.
Still an awesome experience that we will do again!

This place is so beautiful! The views are incredible.
I did not trust myself to drive up or down the mountain so we used Buggy Tours. I highly recommend checking them out. Joe was very knowledgeable and explained all the cool things along the way. Stopped at the best spots for a picture. The summit was cloudy the time we went but the views up and down were perfect.
I highly recommend going to the summit (I’ve been there in the past when not cloudy) you will not regret it, I also recommend checking out Buggy Tours for a ride up and back.

Wow!! What an incredible time! Make sure to make reservations for your drive up. There is a great map they give you with points of interest on the way. Plenty of places to stop and get some really amazing pictures. Make sure if you are going slow to pull over to let the faster traffic around you. They provide a lot of areas to pull over so you can take your time and enjoy your drive while not holding up people that want to go faster. At the top there is a visitor center with a little museum, gift shop and cafe. Make sure to get your donuts in the cafe! There is a great amount of parking and you can walk around the whole area and get some amazing views. Don’t miss out on this adventure!!

Beautiful and tiring. Went to the trailhead straight from the airport and started the hike at 2am on last Saturday 8/26. Paid $30 at the parking lot so don’t forget otherwise you’ll get a $50 ticket. Didn’t see a single soul for first 4 hours and it was pretty dark, reminded me of Blair Witch movie. Last 2-3 miles are tough but worth the payoff. Also, definitely chilly as you get higher so have layers. There is a cafe at the top so enjoyed the cheeseburger and drinks. Water is available to refill along the way so have a filter bottle. I went through 4Liters; Barr camp opens around 7.30am so I was too early but that’s a good stop to rest on the way around 6 miles in or camp at if you want to do this hike over two days. Beautiful views once you get out of the Forrest. There is a train that takes you all the way up and back so do that if you don’t want the workout or you can drive up the paved road. Took me 11hrs total to get to the top and back, around 23.88miles. Hike isn’t technical so anyone can do it as long as you’ve endurance. Highly recommended!!!!

Pikes Peak is definitely a must see tourist destination for anyone to visit because of the unbelievable views you get from a top the mountain. The drive up to the top of the mountain is beautiful in itself and is quite invigorating. The amount of switch backs and curves while traveling up makes for an exciting experience. Once you make it to the top, you get a view that is quite unique and truly unbelievable. They have a restaurant at the top where you can grab lunch at. There are multiple spots where you can pull off the road and get some great photo opportunities.

Probably one of the best things I've ever experienced. I would recommend spending some time in Colorado Springs for a day or two prior to driving up. Get used to the altitude and drink LOTS of water because the lack of oxygen up here WILL make it difficult to walk. Seriously, don't drive up and get dizzy and then not be able to drive back down. There are no guard rails.

This trendy place is still worth seeing. Yes, the road is steep, and some may be frightened by the sheer drops, but don't let that stop you. The views are spectacular, and it's most likely you won't ever be at that elevation again, especially after being able to drive there! Next time I come here, I want to hike it or take the train. We also saw a Bear near the cliffs below us. Not too often you see them in the wild.

Views for miles and miles. Constantly changing panorama. There's a reason America the Beautiful lyrics were inspired by a visit to Pikes Peak and not New Jersey. Take it slow on the winding road, make sure you have plenty of gas and pack warmer clothes than you think you need.

Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum houses more than 24 old planes and other exhibits, along with a souvenir shop. Despite being located in a small town, the museum boasts excellent displays featuring historical artifacts like donated uniforms and valuable, large aircraft. The staff members are knowledgeable and have interesting personal stories to share about the exhibits. Visitors can ask for details on anything they see at the museum. It is worth visiting on Saturdays when it offers a great experience for people of all ages.
Especially for such a small town, this museum is absolutely excellent. Tiny price of entry and extremely rich history on display.
They have all kinds of incredible displays, from uniforms donated by remarkable individuals themselves to massive aircraft with great historical and technical value.
The staff themselves are excellent people as well, all with their own great personal stories too. Ask for details about anything and you will not be disappointed!

Fantastic first trip to the Pueblo air and space museum! Two full hangers of vintage war birds and NASA equipment. Lots of signage and descriptions of various artifacts. The cost is ridiculous low for the level of museum it is. The best part is the friendly and informed staff. Well versed in each item on display and many are veterans with experience in some displays.

It was okay, not good, not bad - it would have been great if we weren't going for a toddler... not a toddler experience! The website made it seem like they only had tours on certain days and since they list business hours straight through the day, we assumed that you could just walk around on your own if it wasn't a tour / Wildlife encounter time. So just for anyone else wondering, even if you do pay, you cannot walk around without being on a guided tour beyond the 2 front fences and the check-in building. The gal at the check-in desk said they did have room for us on the tour if we wanted to join, and it would have been $25 (per adult) for each of us and $15 (per child) for our 2 year old child. Our 2 (almost 3) year old just wouldn't have had the patience for or really care to take a tour (and I'm sure the guides and everyone else on the tour appreciated not having a 2 year old talk through the entire tour asking 8 million questions over and over about the animals and running around)... he just wanted to go see the animals from a distance, like the National Wildlife Refuge. And I'm pretty sure all the tours go inside the enclosures, which he is also not ready for and could not behave safely - they do say on their site tours are not recommended for anyone below the age of 5, and I'd agree with their recommendation; however, I didn't realize that basically meant do not visit if you are under the age of 5 since it's only meant to be a tour guided facility - nothing you can pay an admission to just view from behind the fenced areas. Our son did get to see a couple foxes that were in the 2 front fences in the entry way, and the gift shop had a really nice variety of products though, so if it's on the way, you could go just for that if you have a toddler or baby... but know it's a quick trip and you won't see much of anything. We won't go back until we have a child old enough to do the tour safely and who would want to actually understand and care about the tour to make it worth the time and $ for us.. and to respect everyone else trying to listen to the tour, but we would like to come back when that time comes.

Well designed and maintained wolf and wildlife experience. Plenty of parking. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Groups can be large in numbers but the facility easily allows for this and voice amplification devices ensure the guide can be heard. Brought my daughter and my 2 grandsons (7 & 10 years old) to learn about the wolves. The tour and educational information is well worth their prices. I can not speak highly enough about the people working here who interacted with us. They are very well informed, personable, and genuinely care for these wonderful animals. I would do this tour again when we come back to Colorado. Next time I’m hoping to do the VIP.

Great interactive experience with Raven the Wolf. They only do this once a month, but it was very worthwhile.
The tour afterwards was very informative as well.
My one criticism would be the prices in the store afterwards, there is at least a 25% markup on some items compared to other souvenir stores in the area. I honestly think they would sell more if they reduced their prices and potentially have more to spend on the wolves and their upkeep.
Alternatively sell more smaller, low priced souvenirs so that people are less likely to leave without spending anything

Reservations are required. Basic tour is $25 and personally I think that's high.
You can pay extra for personal encounters with the wolves.
They sell water, but you can bring your own. They provide shade umbrellas if it's really sunny, but there are plenty of shady spots and places to sit along the tour.
They do a good job of trying to coax the wolves to come up to the fence so you can see them up close.
The ending group wolf howl was really cool.

Visiting the wolf and wildlife center was an incredible experience! The staff was knowledgeable and passionate about these magnificent animals. We got to see the wolves and other animals up close in a safe and respectful environment. It was both educational and awe-inspiring. I highly recommend this organization to anyone interested in wildlife conservation and learning more about wolves.

We took the feeding tour last Saturday evening. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I had some preconceived "knowledge" about wolves; boy, was I wrong! Our tour guide was great with adults and kids. The wolves, foxes, coyotes, and New Guinea Laughing Dogs are extremely well taken care of and beautiful. Lots of space for all of them. If you have even the slightest interest in these animals, this is a must visit. The money raised goes to protect these animals. Thank you to the staff, the ones we met, and the others we didn't; you're doing wonderful work.

Absolutely an incredible experience!!! Could not recommend this place more! So many beautiful animals and the staff was so knowledgeable! Made me want to do more for these wolves/foxes and the fur trade industry!
If you live or are visiting Colorado- you HAVE to check this place out! 10/10 experience!

One of the most amazing experiences I’ve had, it’s a must see for sure. I received such crucial information on the importance of saving these beautiful creatures. Our tour guide was one of the best I’ve had on any tour. She had so much information for us but shared in the most fun way. The wolves were beautiful, endearing and when they howled! Wow. You have to go!

Amazing. We loved every bit. They are wonderful with accessibility accommodations via golf cart and wildlife conservation.
Put on your good hiking shoes; some steep hills with gravel.

Visited here finally after many years living in SoCo. The refuge itself has wolves rescued from far flung places as well as wild dogs, foxes, etc. We had to be escorted around the refuge and were given a background of each of the animals in the enclosures as well as some behavior info. You can tell the staff interact quite a bit as they have gotten to know each animals personality, and that was probably the most intriguing part of this tour. Be sure to go upstairs and see Raven's (the wolf who likes to paint) work. You can even buy a print if you like.

Must visit. Easy to find. Would recommend reservations in advance. We didn't and were able to get the next time slot. The gift shop is amazing and has a seating area in the back with coffee and tea. The tour was eye-opening with the populations of the wolf and how each state treats them. I'm so glad this place is here to educate us all. We howl and the wolf's howl back at us.

As an animal and particularly a wolf lover, this was one of the best experiences of my life! The knowledge they have of the animals they are working so hard to preserve and the obvious love and care they provide for each of them is very evident. An awesome place and experience.
Be sure to check the events page before visiting to see what extra fun or educational thing they may be doing for an extremely reasonable price!

Where your dreams of observing, interacting, and even petting a couple of wolves can come true! The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and they have a true passion for all the critters at the reserve! The reserve is a beautiful environment for the animals to roam in and a grand environment to observe them in! Definitely a one of a kind experience, especially the photography sessions that are offered! They also have a magnificent gift shop that truly does have something for everyone! I'm from North Carolina, I purchased and experienced the group photo session. The staff DOES makes sure that you have a chance to interact with the wolves before you leave. The photos they take are done with precise timing! They know their wolves well! Well worth the price to experience this rare opportunity, and I would do it a hundred more times if I could!I look forward to going back with my son one day! Thank you Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center for making a little girl's dreams come true!!!

If you love Animals you cannot skip on the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. I was able to make a dream come true by interacting with Foxes and Wolves.
Our tour guide and animal handler were amazing, super friendly and intelligent. Being up close and personal with these majestic creatures truly makes you understand how important it is that we protect them.

This place is amazing!! You get so close to the animals, and they teach you so much while you're there. I did the wolf encounter and will have photos to look back on from an experience of a lifetime. The staff was very friendly and kind. Plus, they have cool stuff in the gift shop for decent prices, and all the proceeds go back into the wolves.
However, if you go in the wintertime, wear boots cause it's slick and icy on the paths - you're in the mountains, lol

Staff was very kind and knowledgeable. The intro at the very beginning was very long-winded but I understand the importance of spreading facts and encouraging people to support our wolves. The wolves are lovely and were very talkative during our session. I cannot wait to go back to visit those beauties.

I cannot say enough good things about the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. I was visiting Colorado Springs for a work trip and knew I needed to make the journey to visit the wolves. The VIP experience is incredible, and the staff are extremely accommodating at trying to get you great photos and very friendly. The facility itself is beautiful, with spacious enclosures and enrichment for the animals. As a veterinarian I appreciate the effort to maintain good health and welfare of the animals, as well as the effort to educate the public on wolf behaviour and ecology. Debunking the “alpha male” myth is particularly important since neither wolves nor dogs operate on a dominance hierarchy. Emily our tour guide was clearly very passionate about wolf behaviour and conservation and I wish I could have had more opportunity to chat with her. These beautiful animals are a vital part of the ecosystem and I am grateful to the CWWC for their efforts to advocate on behalf of wolves and wolf conservation and educate the public. I am even more grateful to the animals themselves for welcoming me into their space and allowing me to fulfill a lifelong dream.
The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk is a 1.3 mile loop on a 32-acre urban waterfront in downtown Pueblo. Completed in October 2000, it features family-oriented activities and events, such as boat rides and concerts. The walkway has many historic buildings along the river, which was returned to its original location after being diverted in 1921 due to a devastating flood that destroyed Pueblo.

Very nice area to walk in. It’s clean and well maintained. Several places to east along the way. Nice public art to view. Distances noted along walkway to support walkers. Beautifully done. In late morning there were a good number of people out, but was not at all crowded.

The historic riverwalk was really nice just to walk about at 8:00am in the morning, as was the adjacent downtown area. So many sights to see along the way. There were so many trees and lanterns that made it feel cozy and inviting. It is a shame that the water was not filled, though I am sure some of it might out of fear that the pipes would freeze in wintry weather.

When family or friends come see us we take them down by Arkansas river and Pueblo loves it. Most taking the grandkids down their around 5-6pm they can see the wild animals

We loved this walk along the river. There are so many statues, sculptures, informative signs, and pretty artwork along the trail. You can take a boat tour along the river or rent a peddle boat and cruise around the little pond there. There's so much along the way, it was so fun. It was crowded when we went, but nothing too bad and it was the Fourth of July weekend also.

We were here in the morning and there were only a few other people walking around. It was February so the water was drained and there were no boats going. We still had a really good time. The kids loved all the different statues.

Great and quiet place without crowds. We enjoyed ourselves here. No wait anywhere during the peak season is a big plus. Beautiful design along the river walk. Very relaxing and lots of picture points. One point deducted is because we had a hard time finding an open public restroom anywhere around the riverwalk. The bathroom doors were all locked for some reason while we were there. We ended up purchasing some drinks in order to use the bathroom in a restaurant nearby. So a heads up for others.

Two Aussies doing a roadtrip through usa. Wife and I found this place very lovely. Visited today (Wednesday 3rd August 2023), no crowds, pleasant wall and great sculptures to be looked at during the walk. Walk itself is about 1mile but all flat. If you like l, you can take a boat ride around the canal

Fun little downtown area to walk around at. Several sculptures of animals and people are scattered around the river. Not a long walk by any means but it is cute. Lots of restaurants along the route as well. It will most likely take you less than an hour to walk if you don’t stop often.
Aliza Brown — Google review
The water is gone in the winter - so no boat tours or paddle boats (and sometimes there's a bulldozer scooping up icy mud from the bottom) but it's still a nice walk, not too big to do all in one go and lots of art to see and a few restaurants. Reminds me more of Oklahoma City's than San Antonino's. Extra charming at night!

Very clean and well kept riverwalk. Live music at nearby restaurants on the Riverwalk. One of my favorite walks. My family and I really enjoy visiting Pueblo.

The wife is from Pueblo and I am not a fan of visiting...it's a pretty run-down city and has crime issues. However, with things like the Riverwalk maybe things are turning around. The place is an absolutely stunning place to take a walk. Very well kept and maintained and if you were brought blindfolded you would NEVER know you were in Pueblo. Worth the trip to the city for this alone! Sadly most of my photos are on my camera but here are a couple I took on my phone.
The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is a park showcasing petrified redwood stumps and numerous insect and plant fossils. Visitors can enjoy guided walks on well-maintained trails with few crowds, offering peaceful walks with stunning views of Pikes Peak over the forest. There are plenty of information boards posted around the paths to learn about history as you walk, and benches provide quick resting spots.
An unexpected stop, was well worth it! We saw some cool fossils, and read about the history of the area! We were able to get Junior Ranger badges, and visit the fossil lab, which was also fascinating! Walking trails were great, just more out in the open. And most of the interesting plant species were labeled! A massive storm was coming in, so we just spent a few hours here in the morning, and it was enough time!
The entry free is high if you don’t have a annual or monthly pass. I would recommend buying the monthly pass, and going to 2+ National park sites to make the $35 fee worth it!

The gem of a National Monument probably gets overlooked quite often. The trails are very well kept and I had no idea Colorado had giant redwood trees centuries ago! Great site to visit, hike, and learn about.

This place was amazing. Would have gotten 5 stars if the exhibits were open. We were the only ones in the building, would have been great to just see them. Had to wear a mask inside, so I don't know why we couldn't have looked. The trails were well maintained. The experience was breathtaking!

Nice trails throughout the park...visitor center has various exhibits with local fossils and an informative video. Along the petrified trail, there are several petrified Redwood stumps. Park exceeded my expectations and is a nice park to visit.

Geologic history and about 14 miles of easy and moderate trails. Entry fee is included if you have a National Parks Pass.
Brian Wilson — Google review
The museum in the monument is still closed I think, because I was under the impression that there were some exhibits you can normally look at. But because of that (I think) there wasn’t an entrance fee. The ranger was so great! He started talking to some other people and I walked up and ended up enjoying a small tour. There is a 0.25 and 1 mile loop if you are just passing through, or longer hikes if you have more time.

Very interesting monument! It was too cold to go on the trails (we will be going back in the summertime) but even just going to see the redwood stumps and the info inside of the building itself was well worth the fee. Jeff was great too, and gave me a ton of resources on how to get my foot in the door as a student in Ecology! Definitely worth a visit.

Super cool little park! I had seen pictures of the petrified redwoods but it’s hard to get a sense of their size without seeing them in person. There are lots of great loop trails here. I did the Petrified Forest loop to see the redwood stumps and the Sawmill Loop, which was very quiet and peaceful. Admission = $10 per adult.

Stopped by here on our way between Colorado Springs and Alamosa. In hindsight, I'm bummed we only gave ourselves 2-3 hours to spend here. The kids did the junior ranger program booklet and walked the short Ponderosa and Petrified Forest Loops (about 1.5 miles total). With more time, I would've liked to hike the rest of the trails near the visitor center, particularly Boulder Creek, Hornbek and Geologic. Overall, worth the stop, and got to learn a good bit of history about the area, and see some reaaaaaaaaaallllllllllly old rocks that used to be tree stumps.

Beautiful fossil bed area and pioneer homestead nestled in the Rockies. Several trails to see fossils and petrified wood and some small furry praire creatures that bark. There was mountain storm when we visited and it made the experience even more magical.

Fantastic experience, learn about 34 million years of history right here in Colorado. See petrified stumps (sounds strange, but knowing the history makes it so interesting!) Don’t miss the visitor center. Watch a 15 minute informational video and view many plant and insect fossils from millions of years. The paths are well maintained, but wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen/hat, or an umbrella for rain. Plan to spend a few hours here. Bring your National parks pass and get the stamp in your national parks passport.

Fun place with lots to learn and well maintained trails.
It was a slow day so I only spotted one other group on the trails the whole day. Very peaceful walks with a great view of pikes peak over the forest.
Lots of information boards are posted around so you can learn as you walk.
Paths are well marked and a few benches around if you need a quick rest.
It's a great place to visit if you like the outdoors and history lessons. I enjoyed it but don't see myself coming back any time soon since it was a smaller park. Feels very one-and-done for the average tourist.
The Pueblo Zoo is a year-round historic park that features over 400 animals and interactive exhibits. Visitors can enjoy the hands-on experience of feeding some of the animals in the designated area. The gift shop and admission office are run by friendly staff members who provide excellent customer service, making visitors feel like long-time friends of the zoo. Becoming a zoo member is highly recommended for those who love visiting frequently as it makes trips affordable.
I’ve been coming here for about 24 years, never had a bad experience. But I wanted to shout out the people upfront in the gift shop and admission office. Diana and her associate (I didn’t catch her name. She had a long ponytail ) but they were both so extremely nice and they really made our visit; the best it’s ever been. They handled us with extreme respect and customer service. And treated us like a long time friend of the zoo. And again, I will be back next time. To my home zoo.

The Pueblo zoo in Colorado was clean and had pleasant staff. The animals appear to be adequately cared for. This is a small zoo and I suspect most families will easily complete the zoo and inevitable gift shop in under 3 hours. No giraffes or elephants as it is a small zoo. The red pandas seem to be the main attraction though the viewing habitat leave something to be desired for a main attraction. Overall, a pleasant zoo with a nice amount of shade and a few water fountains. Drinks and treats within the zoo or reasonably priced and less than several other zoos we have visited. However, the gift shop is where prices seemed overly exaggerated. This is usually the case, but it seemed to be a bit higher than normal at the Pueblo zoo. Families on a budget would likely want to steer clear of the gift shop.

These stars are not in the lack of anything other than the disappointment of the empty enclosures. The bear pits were empty except two bald eagles were in one. There were more open empty spaces or if they had something in them there was tarps up so we couldn't see. HOWEVER even though it was a small zoo, the animals were active even on a 38° day. The best part was the lions! They were very active and roaring so loud you could hear them across the park. This was a very cute and clean park and inside the town park.
With that being said please go visit and donate money to this zoo. It is worth keeping around.

This is such a great zoo!! They have really unique animals and several feedings a day to experience. I really like the thoughtfulness that went into the layout and providing places to rest and observe these amazing creatures. The animals are happy and the staff are too. Great exhibits and a great experience. Very clean and we definitely enjoyed every bit of it!!

Pleasant place to visit with kids. Great zoo for young kids. Not crowded at all so kids could walk and explore freely. Lots of shade so even in the heat, this was a nice outdoor experience. Layout was nice and we made it through the zoo in about 2.5 hours.
When we visited, a lot of the animals (camels & others) were not being displayed.

This is a pretty cute small zoo. No, you won't find elephants and Polar bears but you will find smaller animals like Meerkat, Gibbons and the like. Well kept grounds, drinks available. Nice pathways for walking or pushing a stroller. One thing that's really nice, it's not crowded! Animals appear well fed and taken cared of.

Smaller zoo, but decided to go to see the Red Pandas. For families taking strollers or those with mobility issues, wide paved walkways run throughout. The zoo took roughly 1.5 - 2 hours for us to walk through, and overall, we enjoyed our visit

Quiet, beautiful, little zoo. Loved that there weren't throngs of people crowding up the place!! Very easily accessed all animals. Staff was very informative!

I was really pleasantly surprised by this zoo - it's a bit bigger than I thought and the sight of the big cats left me impressed. There's also a whole, huge pirate ship inside one of the buildings! I also loved the three habitats for the red pandas, they were all very active. But the habitats themselves are a bit dated. I love that it's a historical park and zoo, and some of the buildings were built by the WPA, but sometimes they just seem a bit too small for some of the animals. All in all, it was very nice to walk around on a sunny day.
Just next to it but outside the zoo is a very nice playground, fields, and a small amusement area. The rides were closed during my January visit, but there are some cute ones in there, including a carousel and little roller coaster.

Nice quiet zoo with animals we don't normally see at the Denver zoo. We really loved the red pandas but were disappointed they didn't have any as stuffed animals to buy in the gift shop. We also liked how much closer we we're able to view the animals.

Even though it is a smaller zoo, its definitely a good atmosphere! Affordable food and entrance, the animals enclosures were all clean and easily viewable! Some enclosures were empty or being renovated but bear with them!! For being a smaller zoo, my family had a great time there, and not being as busy it didn't feel like the more trafficed zoos where you almost get pushed out of the way of some animals! Great for a day trip, and surrounded by the city park as well, the atmosphere was really friendly and welcoming!

Super sweet staff who were very knowledgeable and in their eco zone took the time to show me where the animals like to perch, how old they were, and what their diets consist of. Great way to spend 3-4 hrs. They have plenty of benches to sit and rest on if your legs get tired. The penguins were cute, but I wouldn't recommend going too early. Many of the animals were sleeping, like the painted dogs, and couldn't see them too well. The kangaroos were also hiding out. But overall great experience and really enjoyed the history found throughout the zoo.

This zoo was terrible. They had one lion. They had a few good animals but this zoo is been small and we finished it in 40 min. My fab part was the red panda. I wasted my money, so small and half of the animals were gone. There was no bear or cat or anything.

Gold Mine Tours Inc. offers group tours of its underground facility, including tram rides and exhibits. The hour-long tour takes visitors 1000 feet below the surface of a former operational gold mine, providing an educational experience for all ages. Knowledgeable guides, who are experienced miners themselves, share insights into mining techniques and demonstrate historical equipment used in the industry. Visitors can explore the property while waiting for the tour to start and enjoy informative storytelling from guides like Harley.

What an amazing place! It is definitely worth the drive up there. Sarah - our guide - is the sweetest person, she’s so knowledgeable, professional & friendly! Don’t worry, if you’re claustrophobic, it’s not that bad. It’s a 2 min elevator ride to the bottom, and the tour down there is just outstanding. This gold mine has been operational since 1891! It’s cold up there, so keep yourself warm.

I visited the Mollie Kathleen mine tour in May of 2023. I thought it was great, with lots of educational demonstrations and explanations as well as just really cool being in tunnels that deep underground. Heads up that the trip down is cramped, so just be prepared; though they do warn you about it ahead of time on the website.
If you visit, I strongly suggest after the tour going across the street to the heritage center and seeing the scale model of the Mollie Kathleen mine; it really gives you a nice sense of scale for the tour.

Well worth it. It's a tight fit in the elevator! Literally front to back, shoulder to shoulder, but a quick ride down. There were lots of cool demonstrations of the tools used when the mine was active. Easy walk. Short ride on an original underground air powered train. There was also a lot of interesting history and facts during the tour. Quick ride back to the top. Coolest mine tour I've ever done.

From being up in one of the most beautiful places in the mountains, to the some of the nicest people. This tour was in the top three of adventures on this trip. Start off by being put into a 9 miner lift, then dropping down 1000’ into the mine, walking in the steps of the miners while your tour guide is a miner. Learning the history and seeing it in action will give you a better understanding of how important mining is to your life.

Highly recommend to anyone in the area! Definitely one of the coolest interactive tours that I have ever been to! The tour guide was awesome! He was very funny & informative. He gave lots of time for questions and educational information on the history of mining. Going down the mine shaft was a bit scary for me just because of the confined area on the way down but it opens up once in the tunnels. It is safe and honestly well worth the money! 10 out of 10 would go back

Great place & a place where history comes to life.
Departing from an 1894 depot, this 45-minute steam-engine train ride passes historic mines.
Loved it!!
All the people working there were super friendly and so informative. Listening to the history by the conductor was so interesting!! It's crazy how you can live your whole life in a state and not know about some things.
It was also pretty cool to see the conductor run the train on coal!! Definitely not an easy job and they really ran around making sure everything was taken care of. Totally recommend 😊👍

I'm not sure how to start, The staff was so incredible and so nice. Everybody on the staff was so warm and welcoming and friendly. Even in the Adversity of one extremely rude and obnoxious guest. The staff remain polite and professional at all times. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. The train ride was fun the engineer was extremely knowledgeable About the area. If you're in Cripple Creek or within a 100 miles of it. You must go take the train ride. If I had one negative thing to say it would be about it about it being such a shame that they've turned it into a gambling town. They're building a 19 story modern hotel in the middle of downtown. I think it's really going to take away from the experience of Cripple Creek and that's going to be a shame.

One of the finest condensed history lessons provided of the area by the locomotive engineer (and CC&V Railroad owner) during the 45 minute Train ride!
We arrived just as the full train was about to depart, so we purchased tickets for the following trip (first come, first served, so tickets cannot be purchased in advance)…perused the nicely stocked Station…and enjoyed delicious freshly popped Kelpys Kettle Corn located between the train station and local Museum.
The train ride was an enjoyable trip along many of the local mines to Echo Valley. With ages from 3 to 63…we all had a great time. We felt prices were reasonable when considering the opportunity to “relive” a portion of history. The Engineer’s history lesson wet our appetite to visit all of the town’s several museums.
We will definitely plan to visit and ride again.

This place is magical! even to reach the destination, the roads are worth admiring, everything is beautiful. Being able to see the mountains from that angle is rewarding for the soul. And the town is so beautiful! do not leave without walking its streets

This train excursion was SO MUCH FUN! Our engineer/tour guide was very knowledgeable and told interesting historical information all along the trip. I had no idea that there were so many gold mines in this area.

This narrow gauge rail train trip was so fun. The trip is about an hour long on a coal fired steam engine drawn train. The conductor/engineer gives great informative commentary on all the sights along the way. There is a section of the route near the gold mine where the train whistle echos in an amazing way. I would definitely do this one again. So fun. Also there were some younger children on our trip and they also enjoyed the ride.

We went to see the leaves changing. They didn't disappoint. Took a train ride. Very informative about the history. Found "Rita" the other troll in Colorado. Beautiful

This was such a fun trip ... Lots of great information about the area, fantastic scenery and tons to see. The conductor and crew were a delight for the day. Got lovely pictures even with it being a cloud full day. How often can you say you've ridden a train into the clouds.

Went first train out on Friday morning. It was full, and they added a car. Get there early if you need to go out at that time.
Trip is 45 min long. Tip: Sit on the side facing the town for best views throughout the trip. Also, sit at back of 1st car or front of 2nd car to avoid the most smoke from the coal engine.
Beautiful views. Nice commentary about the area if you can hear it. Easy trip.

Had a wonderful time with my family riding the train. The views are gorgeous and the history you learn about Cripple Creek while riding is extremely interesting. Wonderful activity to go do with family and friends.
A nice casino with soda fountains found in the casinos. Friendly bar staff (and very attentive), slot techs, wait staff and casino hosts. Christine is a very attentive casino host. She always made sure my visits were pleasant. She always has a smile on her face and cheerful demeanor.

They let one person take up 5 or 6 machines at a time. So chair is empty nobody playing you try to put money in and some woman screams at you from 4 machines down " I'm playing that ". Not an isolated incident. Happened 10 to 20 different times.

Terrible experience yesterday at the Mexican restaurant. The portions are cut in half. No cheese on my dish I always get anymore...on tacos no lettuce and cold canned tomatoes!! Won't go there anymore... New owners suck for not at least giving us ppl who go there a lot a good meal. But waitresses who bring drinks in the casino are great.

We hardly ever hit anything good here but lots of fun machines to play, new and old. Now they have a parking garage that's confusing to navigate but a good addition.

Biggest casino in Cripple Creek, takes up most of the Main Street, and is in construction to make it even bigger. The casino was clean and the machines were maintained. The construction made it impossible to really walk around and explore the property.

We were looking for someplace with an all day breakfast menu and this place popped up on Maps. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. The biscuits were so dry and hard, even when smothered in gravy, they tinted when tapping with the fork. I've had rice cakes with better texture! The sausage was tasty and eggs average. The server was in a rush to end her shift. She was pleasant, but distracted.

Friendly staff, free cocktails while gambling, and love their restaurant Home Cafe. You can get breakfast all day and for a decent price. The service was quick the two mornings we went. The bartender was so friendly and cheerful and the wait staff were also pleasant. Definitely recommend it!

Rooms ar very unique and nicely upgraded , casino was clean and everything was well stocked . Machines are tight however , barely even stayed afloat .. wasn't really lively or upbeat. The guy running the restaurant is very friendly and genuinely seemed like he liked his job. It needs more music ,and machines need to pay out once in awhile to keep people around . The outside is the coolest spot , they should consider stringing lights back and fourth creating a canopy of lights and out door music

I love the layout of this casino (wish tickets could be redeemed anywhere) easy flow from one area to another. The bar staff and wait staff are very helpful and attentive. The hosts are really there for the customers, they listen and want to make everyone's gaming experience the best it can be, especially Christine who is an asset to the company and shows what a host is supposed to be like

If you’re going to go there’s no parking because of new construction to the building, there’s a shuttle just before you get into town. The slots were very tight, but did have a nice variety of slots. The best part of Cripple Creek is the beautiful drive to get there, you’re on the backside of Pikes Peak and when you get to the top of the pass beautiful views to the west!!

We enjoy ourselves everytime we come up. Great games and free drinks and snacks. The restaurant's are wonderful! Bronco Billy's treat's their customers with great customer service. The hotel was a little on the older side but that doesn't bother me, it adds to the experience. Very courteous and thoughtful employees. If I'm always treated like this, I'll keep coming back. :)
Bishop Castle is a unique and eccentric building made entirely by one local resident named Jim Bishop. There were no blueprints or plans used in its construction, with Jim working on it single-handedly over his lifetime. The castle boasts an array of features including bridges, turrets, and even a fire-breathing dragon created by Jim himself. Admission to the castle is free for all visitors who can explore the self-guided tours and gift shop.
By far one of my favorite places to visit. It's amazing and beautiful. Hand crafted by an older gentleman Jim. A must see attraction.
You must experience the climb to the top of both main towers...it's scary and uplifting, just breathtaking:)watch where you step. There are no guidelines except be careful!

Very cool structure is definitely a must see. Got my adrenaline pumping going up so high. That being said definitely hope some of the donations goes toward up keep its definitely explore at your own risk. Had me nervous at times.

This place is nuts! Very scary to think about climbing all the way to the top, and definitely looks like someone’s home project. But it’s kitschy and fun. The history is fascinating, even if the manifestos all over the place are weird.
Tina Edwards — Google review
This is the one of the most unique spots within the US. The building is quirky to say the least, and hands down the most adrenaline-pumping place I've ever been to. You've got parts seemingly held up by wires and sections that look like they'd barely hold up a cat, let alone a person. But against all odds, they do—and do it impressively.
Navigating the stairs, towers, and metal bridges truly sends shivers down your spine. And here's the kicker: this entire place was the vision of just one incredibly inspired individual. No formal building experience, no permits—just pure passion and a big dream.
They don't charge an entrance fee, which also means they're not guaranteeing your safety. It adds an edge to the experience, making every step a thrilling venture. If you're in for an adventure, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Safe travels!

This place was a work of beauty. The intricacies of this place were mesmerizing. There were so many staircases that went to a different part of the castle. There were some areas that couple potentially be hazardous to people- holes in the flooring and holes in the staircases. But it was so beautiful! I was fascinated and wanted to explore the high up area outside but my husband was worried it wasn’t safe enough. There was one area that had a lot of animal feces. The gift shop was cute. There’s no public bathroom but there was a portable bathroom. There was also a stand with hot chocolate. It is free to visit and there’s a place the leave donations for them to continue improving the site. It is definitely worth a visit.

I can definitely understand the hype with this place. It's legit scary cool, but petrifying. The idea that some guy just built this castle with his bare hands is insane. Definitely stop by, but remember to tread lightly and watch your step! The views from the top are amazing, especially when you're terrified from the trip to get there.

This place is just WOW!! This place is a piece of art. It amazing to know it handmade. Just an awesome place to see although it's not for the faint of heart. I only got up to the second story with the kids. Hubs and one of my boys went to the top of one of the towers. Overall was such a cool place to visit.

Fun place to explore at your own risk! I loved the eclectic feel the whole place had, You can see the love that went into making the castle over so many years and it's still under construction. Allow maybe 1 full hour to 1 1/2 to explore it all.

Very interesting and odd place. The drive up to it is beautiful and many pictures taken. The building is not for the weak or disabled but cool place. No bathroom facilities, small gift shop, make sure to watch the video on floor one of how it was built.

Totally bizarre place that is worth the visit. Definitely watch the intro video. Be careful walking around, especially in winter- wear spikes or hiking boots. It's super slick. Some gaps and drop offs that are scary if you have a Fear of heights. Slippery. But such a cool story and fun playground like castle with a dragon and gift shop at decent prices and some souvenirs and hot beverages on a trust-business (trust that you pay). Glad I went once in winter but I think I'd prefer summer.

Bishop Castle is a Colorado Roadside attraction that is free (donation box on site). When you arrive, the entrance is right off the highway. Park alongside the highway and walk to the entrance, keeping an eye on cars. I visited 2/19/22 and the area around the castle was muddy and icy in some places, wear good shoes to get around. The highway in from Colorado Springs had dry roads the entire way, but it is at 9000 ft elevation and definitely in the mountains. If your vehicle can't manage snow and ice be aware before heading up. When touring the castle I wore a backback and I wouldn't recommend it. The staircases are very narrow and wind up and down in spirals. The day I went had very little tourists and I could take my time resting (remember, 9000 ft elevation) climbing up and down the castle. This was a peculiar, wonderful, interesting, fun thing to see for free. It took me about 90 minutes to view everything. The wind was gusting and some of the metal walkways and stairs were swaying in the wind, which felt exciting and maybe a little dangerous. A couple was taking wedding photos inside, but they were only there a little while and it was still easy to see everything. Check it out.

I feel this is a place that everyone should visit. What an experience. The drive out there is so beautiful. When you get there there is parking along the road. You can see the castle from the road but you will want to go in and explore. Just a heads up, it could be muddy. This is just one of those just go see it. There is a food bar which was closed when we were there, but the gift shop was open.

Definitely a workout to climb all the stairs. The views from the towers were incredible. It was amazing to see the use of natural rock and metal scraps and pieces. The stained glass is beautiful. The concessions were reasonable priced.

This was such a fun and interesting experience. Well Worth the detour on the way home from a camping trip. This castle has so many places to explore. The story of this castle is also interesting. It is hand-built by the Bishop, and despite many legal battles and complaints the castle still continues to be built. We were both afraid of heights so we did not go all the way to the top. There is some adrenaline for those adrenaline seekers. The views around the castle are great. The castle is such an impressive feat. Be prepared that the steps and stairs are steep and sometimes uneven, so if you have balance issues you might not do well here. When we got up the stairs we immediately were transported to a fantasy world. This would be a great place for live-action role-play games or to host a DnD session. Another great benefit of this place is that it is free to explore. You can make donations and explore buying things at the gift shop.

My husband and I visited Bishop Castle, in Rye Colorado, during our recent trip to see family in Colorado Springs. The drive to Bishop Castle, located in the middle of a National Forest, was lengthy, but beautiful! Well worth it when we arrived! The castle is an amazing structure that is hardly justified with words, or even photos. You truly have to see it for yourself to really appreciate it. Since I'd have to write a novel about it, to explain the history of the place, I'll suggest you look up information about it and the remarkable place that it is. Truly a work of love, labor, and no doubt more sweat and tears than I can imagine.

We came to this place on my birthday looking for adventure. It is a bit of a drive, but it's definitely worth it. This castle was built by one really talented guy. If you have kids, keep them close. You can fall off and die. If you love adrenaline, then you should definitely check this place out.

Interesting place that's worth visiting. Use caution when exploring, especially with children. It's an active construction site. There are many gaps in the flooring and stairways, low overhead clearance, and pieces of metal sticking out. There are visually no safety features to prevent you from falling from many of the high points and towers if you venture upward. They're are porta-potties at the entrance. It's free to visit and always open, despite the hours Google lists.

January 21, 2024 was my third time to visit this masterpiece in work. I am amazed every time I visit. Just the sheer height and size of this structure is amazing. It is a work in progress (construction site) so there are some obstacles and potential dangers. Just be aware and careful of your surroundings. I like to explore but the height of some of the areas elevated my adrenaline and heart rate. No entrance fees and self guided. I will continue to stop and visit Bishops Castle anytime I'm in the area and I would recommend to anybody else to please stop by and visit and also leave a donation

What a crazy cool place!! We went at a bad time weather wise. It was just mud. But so worth it! If you want to visit, I would suggest June when it’s dry and all the snow is gone. It is very strange and a marvel to experience.
This is a hidden gem! It is a must see place for anyone interested in contemporary American counterculture art. You could spend days exploring the permanent exhibition on the 2nd floor. And the curators are great storytellers. They personally knew and/or are friends with each artist represented here. If you wanna know what was happening in the American counterculture art in 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond, you should see this place.

This is a delightful local museum with a lot of eclectic art. They also run a children's art program, where the kids get to paint planter boxes to put out in front of the museum. There's also a nice colorful mural across the road in the park. The tour was very informative and surprisingly they even have an entire room devoted to native Hawaiian art! We enjoyed visiting very much.
As far as the guy complaining about the elevator...well, it's a very small elevator with a CLEARLY posted sign stating that the maximum allowed is 8 people or 1400 pounds. With how big Americans are...well, just saying if you overloaded the elevator and got stuck, that's your fault. Chances are by doing that you cost the museum quite a lot of money in repairs.

The Museum of Friends is an extraordinary gem that beautifully celebrates the power of art. From the moment we stepped through its doors, we were captivated by the vibrant energy and the inspiring collection that awaited us.
The first thing that struck us was the incredibly warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff at the Museum of Friends are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the exhibits. Their enthusiasm is contagious and enhances the entire experience. Their dedication to preserving and sharing the stories behind each artwork truly shines through.
The museum showcases an impressive range of pieces from local artists and beyond, spanning various mediums and styles. No mater what your personal taste in art is, there's something for everyone to admire and appreciate. Each piece tells a unique story and offers a glimpse into the artist's creative journey.
In conclusion, the Museum of Friends in Walsenburg, Colorado, is a well worth the stop. With its impressive collection, welcoming atmosphere, and commitment to fostering connections, it is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking an inspiring and uplifting cultural experience.

I found Maria and Brendt warm engaging and inspiring.
The MOF is a Radiant Cactus Flower in the Desert.
Their selfless dedication to integrating world renowned art and providing transitional opportunities for community service to local residents adds a whole new dimension to how art affects a community.
Everyone passing through Walsenburg should stop and visit MOF and be prepared to take the time to immerse your mind and soul to absorb the incredible art. The expansive and open exhibit lends itself to just stand and concentrate on the artist's vision and also drink in the the amount of patience and love manifested in each piece.
Brendt and Maria are a treasure trove of knowledge and are selfless in their dedication to bringing art to the desert and supporting the Walsenburg community. Your visit and donation to MOF will ensure Maria's and Brendt's legacy lives on.

What a breath of fresh air for Walsenburg!
What a terrific place to swing by for an hour or two and look at a very wide range of types of work in their permanent collection and any exhibits they have going on. Currently the exhibits are John Wark's Colorado Wildfires, Camille Seaman's Photographs of Our Polar Regions, Larry Racioppo's Hurricane Sandy exhibit and many more upstairs. What I found most interesting was seeing more history of the area besides more typical things Walsenburg is known for such as mining, the Coalfield, Battle of Walsenburg, etc.
Everyone who works here is fantastic! You see and hear the passion they have for the works on display. Hopefully, Maria is there, and you have extra time to learn about Miners Plaza Park directly across the street from them and whatever else she feels like sharing! In the alley behind their building and the alley behind the other buildings while walking north to Heritage Park are also loaded with art murals that are beautiful.
I'll definitely be returning for another visit.

This place is AMAZING. The first floor features traveling exhibits which are switched out every few months. The upper floor features a permanent collection and it is mind-blowingly amazing.
It felt like I was swimming in art.
Artists that I have heard of before, and many artists that I have never heard of before. A little local art, and a lot of New York art. You get a little taste of the Colorado communes from the '60s. Loads of fabulous printwork. Sculpture, pencil drawings, ink drawings, mixed media, collage, oils on canvas and other substrates, acrylics, photography, watercolor, even broken glass.
There's also one whole room devoted to Hawaii and Pacific island art and craft, and stepping foot into this room felt like I was catapulted into another world.
I can't believe that this quality, variety, and sheer volume of art is right here in downtown Walsenburg! Absolutely worth your while. You can book a tour through their website. Please be sure to make a monetary donation.

It's been exciting watching the influx of diverse cultures and creative spirit that has been building in Southern Colorado over the years, and I was super excited to finally stop by the Museum of Friends in Walsenburg after recently learning about it.
The museum is diverse, having three thoughtful exhibitions on display in the primary gallery floor, and the entire upper floor is filled with a stunning, massive collection of artwork from the myriad of friends for which the museum is named. Though we didn't explore too thoroughly, there is a lovely gift shop with a diverse, affordable collection of artworks and gifts near the entryway of the museum, as well as section selling art supplies that are otherwise impossible to find in the area.
We were so fortunate to have an opportunity to meet and chat with the owners and gallery director, who are deeply passionate about art and sharing their love with the world.
This is a very special place filled with the imaginative magic we need as human beings :) Nourish and treat yourself and your loved ones to the Museum of Friends!

This place is definitely worth a stop. A highlight of our drive home.
Amazing place to learn about wolves, potentially meet them and enjoy some breath taking scenery ... wholeheartedly recommend spending the time to go out to Mission Wolf if it definitely worth the time.

I had a 3 hours drive in each direction and it was totally worth it! The crew in m:w are so knowledgeable and dedicated, and the wolves are amazing. My group was able to visit 3 enclosures, meet 5 wolves and wolf dogs and learn so much from Mike and Moira. We also toured the area, saw the green house and visited the gift shop. It is recommended that you consider donation, wolf sponsorship or just helping out around the property. They accept volunteers on a short and longer basis. My favorite part was meeting the wolves up and personal, and learning that “if you don’t like a wolf to lick your teeth- don’t go into the wolves enclosure”. The 13 mile dirt road leading to m:w is not too bad, but I wish I had a 4x4 instead of my little car (it might be worse in the winter). To summarize: an amazing experience!

It's an indescribable place. Come for an afternoon visit or show up and volunteer. There's always work for the willing! My girls pulled weeds and chopped wood. We're talking massive weeds on the mountain side with thorns that get into the wolves paws, not landscape weeding. Work hard and you might learn something and have a wolf encounter along the way.

Apparently there's another place called wolf mission that is using the same name as the sanctuary taking care of wolves they are are selling clothing and coats etc bracelets and necklaces. They are scams. The products are not the same as the pictures very poorly made. Please look into where you are when it cones to these sites. I was contacted by the actual wolf mission which I believed is this site. I recognize doing your research. And maybe not buy online e as most places give u very cheap material. If it's cheap in cost u get what u paid for but I paid 40 each sweater and got what amounted to a 5 dollar shirt.

Trinidad Lake SP, is a great little park with great views. Some sites have full hookups, but for the rest we have 50 Amps, there is water in the area, mine was 225 feet away, lucky me I carry that much hose! Very quiet. It was during some rain storms that we visited so it’s a bit cloudy looking but nice park. There is a short 1 mile trail that will take you by the water and there is an 8 mile to and from trail that leaves the park area so there is plenty of opportunity for a nice hike from camp.

Family of 8 stayed in the South Shore Campground. The shade/shelter over the picnic table helped cut the wind and offered a nice place to eat. Ground was bumpy, no pad for tents.
I hadn't read the fine print and the vault toilets were gross, but we made it. Drove over to the campground on the bluff to take showers. Clean and easy to use.
Make sure you take cash for quarters to use the shower.
Lovely view of the lake and the mountain range. Cooled off nicely at night and warmed back up when the sun rose. Mid-July is a nice time to visit.
Great place to stay one night. Wouldn't want to stay much longer with a bunch of little kids. No playground or swimming area.

One night of tent camping allowed us to take in the beautiful scenery, including the sun set. While I didn't have a boat or fishing gear, wading in the cool lake water was enjoyable. If you're wanting just a quick weekend escape to a lake this is definitely a great spot. The waters are a beautiful turquoise blue, and they allow fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skies, boats and camping. The park rangers are super friendly, and there are a few hiking trails. And for it being a state park, they have really nice outhouses. The only reason it's not a 5 star is i wish they had more lake access points, there's only 3 so the beaches got crowded really fast, having to paddle board around the fishers isn't very fun.

The park itself is really cool. The trails are scenic and each trail has a different viewpoint. They all had a good variety of elevation changes but nothing too extreme. Could use a few more benches/rocks to rest.
The campground was okay, the sites were close together & the tent pads are small. The campground does not include the day pass. They also charge for showers, 25 cents a minute & the quarter machine was broken. The price for camping wasn't worth what the campground offers. It should of at least included the day pass.

Really nice state park register online before going, lower sites that overlook the lake were closed for the season. Very clean restrooms/showers, bring quarters or cash for the change machine. Very dark at night which was perfect for star gazing, sites were large and private some not so level. I would have disconnected from the truck if we were staying a few days.
Facility offering exhibits & a short film about the park, plus a bookstore, snacks & souvenirs.
This place just doesn’t make sense. It’s incredibly beautiful and a wonderful place to camp! It has great meadows, mountains and of course huge sand dunes. This park is absolutely worth the adventure. The pictures DO NOT DO THIS PLACE JUSTICE. Definitely going back.

Who knew there were sand dunes in the mountains of southern Colorado. I've vacationed all throughout Colorado when I was young with my parents and as adult with my wife and daughter. The sand dunes are NOT what you see at the beach. It's an amazing experience to see and interact with the sand. You can hike up to top. You can rent sleds and or boards to slide down the sand dunes. The park is open 24 hours. However the visitors center open for specific times and days. The Great Sand dunes admission is $25 per car load. I recommend during the summer go early in the morning before the sand heats up. At night you can see the stars and on a full moon the dunes come alive, but bring a flashlight.
The Park Rangers are helpful and friendly. Plan to visit when you're in Southern Colorado.

An excellent stop! Very informative, inviting and interesting. All of the displays and videos were top notch. The view of the dunes from the visitor center is fantastic as well. The rangers are very thoughtful and helpful.

Awesome place. Stop at Zapata Falls. Short hike but, wading a creek. Be sure to go all the way in to see the top falls.

Decent educational exhibits, wonderful views, plenty of parking, great customer service, decent bathrooms, and as for the park itself. It’s a lot harder to get to the top than you think! At least it is for a pregnant lady used to living below sea level!! Hahaha it’s definitely something pictures will never do justice. Also sitting down in the wind is a BAD idea. Sand goes in every hole… although this park is dog friendly and you can bring your dogs. Please note that this area is very very windy and on bare human skin the sand feels like needles when you get higher. If you have your dogs it might be best to not bring them up high on the dunes. When you’re standing it seems fine but if you sit you feel what they may feel…. Also something really cool we seen was people sledding and sand boarding down the dunes! It looked like a lot of fun and I wish we would have brought something!

This is a hidden gem. It seems like nearly no one knows that there is a national park in the middle of the Colorado mountains that has miles and miles of sand dunes. Yes it feels like and looks like you are in the middle of the Sahara desert but you are in the mountains of Colorado! It is truly eerie that there are 700 foot sand dunes that you can climb and literally walk for miles in sand dunes in the middle of the Colorado mountains. But be prepared for a tough hike up towards the top, the 2 mile hike feels like four since you are walking in sand. Yes it is a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the trip. Truly a must visit, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Beautiful national park with great views! It will be windy, so prepare accordingly. Also a hike on sand takes longer so if you’re going up the dunes give yourself ample time. However there is plenty of flatter terrain to hike as well.

Loved the experience. Trail behind Visitor's Center leads to a lower parking lot and the dunes, or you can drive down and park and go on to the dunes. Sand is hot, hydrate! Be careful with dogs, paws will burn on sand. Just beautiful landscape. So much wildlife in area.

When we went the visitor center was only the gift shop. All of the exhibits and theater were closed, due to Covid, so we weren’t able to have the full experience. You can buy your souvenirs here. NOTE: they do NOT sell or rent sleds or boards here. If you are planning to sled or board, you must buy or rent beforehand. I’d like to go back sometime to experience the rest the visitor center had to offer:

I have been wanting to see the dunes in Colorado for a long time. They were pretty cool to see. I wasn’t able to climb them this trip due to a recent knee repair surgery but hopefully one day. The people were climbing up then sledding down. It looked like a lot of fun. It’s well worth the stop yo see. Again, it was a little less than organized. There were signs but there was no one around to explain anything or ask questions unless you went to the visitor center.

This park is one of a kind. Beautiful views all around. The feeling of a beach in the mountains. Make sure to make the hike up to Zapata Falls. And take a plastic sled or board for the dunes. There is something to do here for all ages and enjoy.

Very unique national park with extensive sand dunes for miles. I went during fog after a storm. The wet sand was easier to walk on and the clouds made for cool pictures.

Tourist trap. It's decent enough, crowded, and the ac isn't great with all the doors opening all the time. The exhibit is neat inside. Didn't go to shop, but some peeps in the crew bought stuff. Water refill station is great (wish there was more than one).
The signage on the trail is not maintained, but the views are great.

Very interested location. You can buy different souvenirs here. Rangers tell you the history of dunes, and you can watch some video how changed territory during years.

The views are great. Most of the exhibits were "out of order" which was a letdown for my child. The gift shop is expensive, like all of them. They had some cute ornaments. The cost to enter the park is $25/car.

Spectacular!
I'm so glad I read reviews. People are not kidding when they say get there early. On a week day. Not a holiday
We've traveled on a motorcycle from Richmond Virginia to the Grand Canyon and we are slowly heading back east. This National Park was on our to do list. It is Saturday, Memorial weekend. There was a 13 minute backup delay at the entrance going in at 10. Coming out at 12:30, the line of cars stopped, waiting to enter, is over a mile long. CRAZY!
The park rangers were not letting cars go down to the parking lot to the dunes, because it was full. We were allowed to go down on the bike. Otherwise, its parking on the side of the main road and walking a half mile or more.
Once we parked, we took off our shoes, rolled up our pants, walked across the rushing stream and went up the first hill. The water was cool, inviting.
Families are all around, kids digging in the sand, splashing in the water. It's the beach in a vast, land locked area.
Definitely worth the trip. I cant stress enough the importance of going early. On a weekday. Not on a holiday.

A wonderful pitstop on the road! While I didn't climb the peak it was amazing to climb to where I was and the views were stupendous!
Bring closed shoes and hiking poles if you plan on going up past 8500ft. 😀

Very informative Visitor Center as usual! Lots of infographics here and big maps that details the park. There is restrooms and also a gift shop in here as well.
30-ft. waterfall reachable by a brief crevasse hike wading through water & over slippery rocks.
Easy drive up, even for a 2WD. Great views of the Crestones and Dunes!. Bathrooms are at the trailhead. Easy hike to the "cave" entrance. Microspikes are definitely recommended for going into the cave in the winter. Gorgeous ice formations on every wall! The frozen falls were amazing, with water flowing behind the clear ice.. Really cool to watch! Definitely worth the trip!!

Awesome pull off for a quick and fairly easy hike. The falls were frozen but definitely still worth viewing, you could hear and see the water under the frozen ice and snow, so amazing!! Invigorating hike after a long time of driving, we were there around sunset so it was an extra beautiful decent back to the car !

Absolute must stop and make the hike out to the falls. It was an easy hike (very rocky). In late April the falls we’re still mostly frozen but made the walk out a bit easier. SO beautiful!!!

Beautiful frozen waterfall, with great views of the San Luis valley on the walk down
The con of visiting here is that it’s a very short easy walk, which unfortunately means encountering people and dogs on the trail who are unfamiliar with trail etiquette. Ffs, stop letting your dogs encroach on people’s personal space

Very nice short hike. We really enjoyed the scenery here. They were working on the road when went there so the drive up wasn't as smooth as it could be.

A nice side trip on your way to Great Sand Dunes NP.
Entrance is free.
Zapata Falls is about a 1/2 mile walk from the parking lot. There is a bathroom available as well.
The hike to the falls was rocky and uphill. But there's a few benches along the way in case you need to rest.
I was disappointed in the size of the falls. Perhaps we went during the wrong season when water was low? Ive seen way more impressive waterfalls. Nonetheless, it was definitely still a fun experience and picturesque.
j h — Google review
Personally I love walking through freezing water. If you don’t that sucks because you have to to be able to see the entire of the falls. Fun spot to visit and spend some time in. Surrounded by some other hiking trails to explore.
Bryan Sacks — Google review
It's a steep drive up worth it! Start at the signs below and get some education of the place. Once at the top, if your a big truck, go to the right for overflow parking.
I recommend going before late afternoon as the sun moves off the mountain and it's darker at the waterfall. It's free to go up. It's half a mile up to waterfall. If you want to see it, expect to take shoes off and get wet. You cross the creek a couple times and then in the water to climb up rocks and see the waterfall. Our 6 year old made it to the creek and crossed couple times, but not into the freezing waters and up the rock. In case you got little ones too.
On way down, check out the views of the Great Sand Dunes NP!
Give this review a thumbs up if it helped you! #crazykleinadventure

Zapata falls is a really cool and unique waterfall near the Great Sand Dunes National Park. If you are going to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, this is just a bit off of the main road that leads to the park. Once you get off the main road, the dirt road that leads up to the waterfall is kind of bumpy and not made for every car. I went on it in a small old Toyota camry and there was a few spots where I was wishing I hadn't drove and just hiked up the road instead, but I made it lol. Every other vehicle on the road was an SUV, jeep or truck, and I'd suggest using one of these. The actual waterfall was unique in that it was kind of inside a canyon type of space and it was almost like it was coming through the roof of the mountain. It is really cool to check out.
B A — Google review
It’s about a half mile hike but don’t let it fool you thinking it’s an easy one.
You’ll have to walk uphill most of the time and navigate through slippery rocks. Also don’t forget to put on bug repellent otherwise the mosquitos will eat you alive.
It’s all worth it though. The views are amazing and compared to other waterfalls this one is relatively easier as well.
Carlos Cruz — Google review
Short gander up the creek brings one to an incredible space within the crevice. It is possible with the right climbing skills to traverse the creek without getting wet but expect to get ankle deep in ice cold mountain run off
Gaia Street — Google review
If you are near the sand dunes, you must take this short hike to see the falls!!
Go through the creek, look at the first fall then traverse over the other rocks and around the corner to get the full effect of the falls!!
The trail is a little rocky but it is not hard. Your feet will get wet but that is all part of the fun!!

Very cool Historic Site!
I worked one summer for Fort Laramie NHS in Wyoming. It was supper cool to see some of the differences and a lot of the similarities between the two Forts. The guard house was the most striking difference. While not a good place to be at either Fort, Fort Garland's seemed a lot more tolerable place to be locked up.
Fort Garland has a lot of artifacts on display and good historical interpretation. My favorite was seeing Kit Carson's rifle!

This old fort turned museum was a great place to stretch our legs and learn some interesting things for just over an hour. There are some newer exhibits about Native Americans and the Buffalo Soldiers that used to live at and around the fort. A good and inexpensive stop if you're passing through.

My favorite museum visit in recent years!!
Amazing history and grounds with many different building and literally hundreds of first class display something for everyone even kids!
John Hames — Google review
This cultural center has lots of reading material and intriguing stories portrayed through well maintained displays. We learned about how this military fort was strategically placed in the borderlands and was designed to coerce Indian tribes onto reservations. It’s also rich in the history of understanding the lesser known stories of Indigenous Tribes of Colorado, Buffalo Soldier, and Spanish land grant communities. They have extremely informative exhibits; you can tell that the museum does their best to convey these historical perspectives through “as true-to-life as possible” displays.

I went here to this museum on a class field trip and it is really located in a unique spot with a fascinating history. I didn't realize how important this place was in southwestern history!
Hunter Markowich — Google review
We would probably go again once the new native-focused exhibit is complete. In general, pretty good museum, especially for the price. Unless it's an event, I would not consider this super kid friendly for under 10. It's a lot of reading, very little interactivity. Most of the exhibits were really interesting and informative, but you can tell some of the information is definitely...outdated--including one 'n' word on a poster within the buffalo soldiers exhibit. That was really disappointing, especially as it's not even a direct quote. I think the museum should strongly consider removing. If we went again, I would book the tour in advance; it's only $3 but you can't get one without advance notice. If you go in winter/spring, dress warm! The buildings are drafty!
Jessica H — Google review
The fort has a lot of history. You can see how the soldiers lived on a daily basis while serving. Anyone interested in military history visiting Fort Garland should stop and take part in this site.
Spinning Wheels Photography — Google review
This is an authentic fort with an authentic history from the late 1800s much of that history is documented in the different buildings of the fort. It may surprise you to learn that this four is located in the middle of a plane with the ability to see for long distances and the ability to travel in multiple directions rather than at a strategic choke point. In its heyday it was a key intersection between settlers from the East and the traditional native people who lived in this area.
Steve Spinella — Google review
While this is a historic military fort strategically placed in the borderlands and purposed to genocidally coerice Indian tribes onto reservations, it is also rich in the history of understanding a lesser known stories of Colorado -Indigenous, Buffalo Soldier, Spanish land grant communities. Two amazing exhibits that contemporize these histories thru art.

Total suprise, wasn't expecting much when we stopped. Quality displays for the history of the fort. Really enjoyed the Lego fort, the buffalo information and the buffalo soldiers. Also the staff was really nice and talked to us about the fort's history. Lastly, I appreciated the diversity in the gift shop, thought we might just end up with some plastic junk, but found a beautiful kids book on the buffalo soldiers and some hand made pottery. Thanks!

Outdoor pool for year-round use, with a water slide, volleyball, basketball & more, plus a hot tub.
We travel with our RV from Fort Collins (about 5 hours) to visit this pool. We’ve visited 3 times in the past 4 years for Spring Break. The views are so pretty!
The staff is really friendly. The campgrounds are kept neat, and the restrooms are clean and well stocked.
The pool is great! When we visited, the temperature ranged from just above freezing in the morning to the 50s at the peak of the day. The water temperature varies depending on how close you are to where it fills, but there isn’t a cold spot in the pool. There’s a baby pool for the little ones, and the big pool goes from 3ft to a deep end with diving boards. The ladies showers were completely clean.
There’s free air to fill your inflatables for the pool. The kids love the snack/gift shop, and you can rent water toys if you don’t bring your own.
The grille has a great variety of really yummy foods.

Our first time here ever on Father’s Day. The people who was at front gate not only had major attitudes, they shouldn’t have allowed any other guests to come in while there was a father looking for his missing child. Apparently the father had been looking for his missing son for over an hour when they discovered his body at the 10 feet deep end of the pool.
This place should have had a life guard on duty. I get that there are signs everywhere stating there are no life guards on duty. However, as soon as the father asked for help of his missing son, they should have told everyone to get out of the pool immediately, and not let anyone else entered the premises. That was not done after us being there for 40 minutes. My family and I wasn’t in the pool yet, because we were still prepping all 3 kids. If we had seen the boy jump in the deep end, we would have been able to save his life. We witnessed everything and it is the most horrific scene my family and I ever witnessed.
One guest started performing CPR, because the employees who work there didn’t have a clue on what to do. This tragic event could have been prevented in so many levels had this place have the proper protocols.
Also, the first responders took forever to get to this location on top of that.
I called the next day to see if they were open for business after this tragedy, and they were. I guess this place do not care that a child lost his life in their facility. I feel bad for the families of this 14 year old boy. May his soul rest in peace.
If you’re planning on visiting here, be mindful of your children even if they are able swim. Do not leave your children unattended by going to the adult side. Always keep an eye on your children even if they are a teen and able to swim. Keep in mind that this place do not have proper procedures in place if tragic events ever occur.

This is one of our favorite (semi hidden) spots. Many people don't know about the incredible le 10000 square foot 21 and over greenhouse. So, you might believe it's a giant outdoor pool for kids...it can be, but the greenhouse is where we go to relax and hang, have a beer or wine and eat great food. They do an amazing job and the staff and people you meet are always relaxed and happy. We have campped many times, but have never stayed in the cabins, so I can't really speak to that aspect. Nonetheless, it always seems to just get better and better. I hope you enjoy as much a we do.

We stayed here halfway through our Colorado road trip. Loved this place. So quiet. We stayed in a cabin which was very comfortable. I was worried about being cold but the cabin was extremely cozy. The sunrise was amazing. We all loved the pool center and the restaurant was great. Customer service was out of this world. Justin was particularly helpful and went above and beyond to provide great service. For breakfast I highly recommend driving over to The Hooper Junction & Ruby Rose Bakery / Cafe. About 7 min drive. Great place. I definitely recommend a stay here.

We stayed three nights in our pop up camper here while exploring Great Sand Dunes National Park. Nice facilities for camping, clean restrooms and laundry facilities. They also have a well stocked gift shop and boards for the dunes you can rent on site. The hot spring fed pools were a great way to relax after a morning of exploring the Dunes. The Greenhouse was great if you want a little quieter atmosphere (21+) out of the wind. Awesome atmosphere with all the plants, plus the food and drinks at both pool side areas were tasty. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

This was our first time here and our kids’ first time to a hot spring. It was so great! The cafe had a great selection and wonderful food. The gift shop was amazing. The pool was LOVELY. You could rent anything you needed—towels, goggles, life jackets, anything. It was just such a wonderful time. The staff were amazing. I think, even though we live a couple hours away, we will get an annual pass next year. We will definitely go again.

This is a nice oasis in the middle of the valley, right by the Sand Dunes. I went directly to the "Greenhouse," which is for adults only. The ambience of the plants and the pools were really nice.
If they were to improve, I would advise adding lockers for the adults area, and expanding the restrooms area if possible, by adding additional showers. The existing restrooms could be pretty cramped with multiple people at once.
Justin Saxfield — Google review
The water was disgusting and dirty. We literally got in and out within 5 minutes due to hair and other stuff floating around in the water. The pools definitely need to be cleaned more than once a week. Some people don't even shower before getting in. Definitely won't return, a total waste of time, money and gas.

Pros: Pool is cozy and warm. Awesome food options. Gift shop is expansive.
Cons: I had to dry camp which was really far walk from everything. The pool was super crowded to the point you couldn't move without getting knocked or hit by a pool ball. I was looking forward to showering but they nickel and dime you. Quarters were needed for a 6 minutes shower and to go into the pool. It's also 30 minutes from sand dunes.

This is one of my favorite campgrounds that I have stayed at! Check-in and check-out was easy, and the amenities were amazing for the price. We really enjoyed the close proximity to the National Park, but the facilities were perfect to unwind throughout the evening. The heated pools, bar, and convenience shop made the stay excellent. Definitely check out the greenhouse bar and hot springs if you stay! The facilities were clean and well-maintained throughout our stay. We would definitely come here again.

We went to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The customer service was beyond our expectations. Justin and staff were so nice and hospitable. The grounds were clean and well maintained. My only reason for the 4 stars in the rooms category is because of the water and bathroom access. The cabin had a foot pump with very minimal water and a port a potty outside. We will go back and bring the family. Thank you for a great time.

The Green House is the BEST! We had the most fun and relaxing day here. It’s an adults-only enclosed area with 5 pools/tubs of varying temperatures of natural hot springs water. The hottest tub was around 111* and is called “coffin”. Then, you can cool off in the other various pools. We went in the middle of the winter, and spent all day here. They have a restaurant and a bar with a lot of variety in food and drink. On the grounds they also have a family friendly outdoor pool, snack bar, gift shop and golf simulators. It’s welcoming to tourists and locals alike. I hope to go back again someday!

I was SHOCKED by this place! We stayed in the dry spots in our camper and could not believe the amenities for such a cheap price. (Please don’t change🤪) This is a true hidden gem. My husband and I enjoyed hanging out in the Greenhouse the entire time. This little oasis had fantastic food and drinks! I cannot wait to go back. Such a relaxing spot!

A fun place with warm pools. It was a very windy day when we went so maybe it would have been better on a nicer day. The adult area is beautiful but the pools were not clean at all. Probably wouldn't go back but it was fun once.

21+ greenhouse was awesome to escape all the kids in the main pool. Friday AM is the best time to go as they clean the pools weekly on Thursdays. I’ll be dreaming about the steak medallions with bone marrow compote butter for some time
Boondocking across the street is the way to go. Cheaper, no reservations needed, and still have access to the amenities(and discount) for staying across the street. Just be smart and turn around in the employee entrance parking lot if you have a big rig to drive in the tiny gate.

My friends and I chose this campground because we wanted to be close to the Sand Dunes while still having some amenities. While the location can't be beat, basically everything else was a letdown. Staff was unhelpful, showers were gross, campsites were way too close together, and they were constantly running out of firewood and ice despite the campground not being at full capacity.
At check-in, the staff was unnecessarily rude and unhelpful. We'd booked two campsites well in advanced, but we had been placed in Sites 2 and 4. No one was in 3 yet, so we asked the front desk if we could switch to 2 and 3 or 3 and 4. The staff said that would be "impossible, because everything is booked". When we pointed out that we had not been informed of our campsite in advance and therefore a switch would not even be noticed, they insisted on calling the guests scheduled for site 3. Of course, these people didn't mind and we got to stay at adjacent sites, but the staff made this much more difficult than seemed necessary.
After check-in, things did not get much better. We (and other campers) had been counting on ice and firewood being available, and they were constantly running out. The campground wasn't even full, so I don't know how they managed to not order enough supplies.
The shower house was literally the main reason we picked this campground, and it was a huge letdown. Two showers for something like 50 people meant long lines, and they clearly weren't being cleaned often enough. They advertise more showers available at the pool house, but that isn't open until 10 in the morning.
Finally, this is just a poorly designed campground. The sites are closer together than even the biggest, most corporate, national park campground, to the point where our tents were <10 feet from strangers. Also, the ground in the tent areas is really hard, driving stakes was almost impossible. The lighting on the pool house, shower house, and around the campground was poorly aimed and way too bright, making sleep difficult.
I'm sure this is a fine place to stay in an RV or a cabin, but I'd highly recommend tent campers stay elsewhere.

Nice pool! There is a small creek that runs through the property you can play in. There is a 21+ area, the Greenhouse. Since this was a trip away from the kiddo the Greenhouse was a great escape. 3 smaller pools and one long area for larger groups. If you are in the area definitely stop by!

What a gem! The staff here are incredibly pleasant and attentive. We stayed in one of their 'glamping' cabins and it was really a great value. I was surprised to see how many hot springs options they provided, and the adult lounge was just the place for the two of us to unwind after a long day of hiking and sand sledding. The food was also fantastic (both kitchens). I would stay here again and can't recommend it highly enough.
Thomas Healy — Google review
The hot springs are amazing especially the green house. There's several very hot pools along with a larger pool that's a little cooler. The food at Steel Box cafe is always delicious and they have a nice selection of adult beverages.
The only down side is not related to the hot springs
When I made overnight reservations, I said it was for 4 adults. They said that cabin 3 sleeps 4 and no mention that meant 2 adults and 2 children A bunk bed full on the bottom twin on the top. At the slightest movement the bed creeked making it impossible to sleep.I hope that this will be improved in the future.
The staff is nice and the hot springs are clean. If you book cabin #3 bring a cot and ear plugs.

I really wouldn't recommend anyone coming here anymore, not only has this gem been discovered, but they only clean the greenhouse pools once a week. Best believe 9/10 you'll see knots of hair, floating flakes of other people's skin, and food crumbs. Best of luck to anyone going there anytime soon

We were here to enjoy the hot springs. We opted to pay the extra to go to the adult section (greenhouse) to stay away from the bigger crowds with kids.
The greenhouse has a bar and had a lounge vibe to it between the decor and music playing in the background.
Some of the smaller pools were a bit packed, but the bigger pool was open enough to enjoy a good soaking.
PS: They also have a sauna. And they rent/sell towels too.

I can’t say enough about our experience with Sand Dunes rec. Everyone on their staff was so nice, from reservations to bartenders. We camped with friends in the full hook up Rv sites for two nights. Visited the sand dunes and monte vista wildlife reserve while we were there.
We loved the greenhouse, adult only area. It was lush and green, warm and relaxing with a dry sauna as well! The FOOD! We read the other reviews and they aren’t lying. It was delicious, all of it, we tried a bunch of menu items. Just throw a dart at it, but maybe aim at the tuna. Unbelievable! We are putting this in our list for regular hot springs spots. Feel like maybe I shouldn’t tell folks about it, it was that good.

Amazing location and nice facility, and kids have fun here, but beware. The groundsperson, part of the owners family, threatened me, and he is clearly dangerous. The food was good, but the kids at the restaurant are rude to tourists. The pool is a great temperature and huge and fun, but it's not clean. The campground and cabins are clean and well kept, but there are only two toilets and showers serving up to 100 people. We've been many times and won't be back after the last experience. We stopped here on our way back to Denver from Taos and loved it!! It is such a neat concept and was very relaxing. The pools are all different temps and loved the sauna & lounge chairs. We tried the crab cake & tuna and they were both delicious ! The only downside is the bathroom is small for changing, so come wearing your suit or pack light.
Wildlife park on a fish farm with albino alligators, crocs & snakes, plus gator-wrestling lessons.
You would think the only good gator parks in the US would be in Florida, but not the case at all! Our family visited a great Gator park in Florida two years ago and had a blast, BUT, this park here in our home state of Colorado DEFINITELY measured up, and was actually MORE interactive than the one we visited in Florida.
We stopped by this park on our way home from our Spring Break vacation in Pagosa Springs.
My kids were fascinated and thrilled by the opportunity to hold a variety of snakes, feed tortoises, and take a picture with a baby alligator. Of course, there were PLENTY of adult size gators of all sizes and ages that we got to see and even feed as well. The bucket of food for the gators is only a couple of dollars, but you can get one for free by bringing in a coupon found in a brochure at nearby hotels.
The staff knows what they are talking about and went ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure our family had a truly interactive and enjoyable experience!
As a child of the 90's it was a major thrill for me to see the famous gator featured in Happy Gilmore. His name is Morris, and he has his OWN large enclosure where he can roam freely and enjoy his retirement from decades in film and TV industry.
Again, a GREAT EXPERIENCE!

This place is wild! It's $20 to get in but it's definitely worth it! There are so many awesome animals and you can get pretty close to some of them! Lots of tortoises walking around and some fish you can feed. The signage is really funny and just adds to the experience. We went pretty close to after it opened so it wasn't busy or crowded. Super unique experience, I would definitely recommend checking it out!

This place is super cool! They unfortunately just had a tragic fire, so we didn't get to see any snakes, so we'll definitely come back for that when they finish renovations. It's a little expensive, but I was happy to pay the price to help them with their renovations. Everyone who works here is super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely will return.

It was an interesting experience. Personally I’m not a fan of crocs but it was worth checking it out while in the area.
It would help if the signage was better, maybe even somewhat interactive.
We did get to hold a young alligator, kids got a “certificate” hole punched by its teeth 🙈
PS also we have never seen such giant mallards, they were the size of Canada geese! (Hard to tell from the photo though)

This place was SO COOL! I am in total disbelief that such an interesting and unusual place exists in the mountains or Colorado. You get a VERY up close and personal experience at the park. The staff is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic - they really went above and beyond to make sure my questions were answered. The alligators are gigantic. There are tons of turtles roaming around freely, a few exotic birds, and tons of snakes and lizards (don’t worry, those are behind glass). The whole thing is really jaw dropping! I’m so glad I got to mark this place off my bucket list, but I’ll be back. Amazing!

An awesome place to spend a couple of hours. Price seemed a bit steep at first but was worth every penny. They do an awesome job taking care of their animals. Sad to see they have to "rescue" so many reptiles from people who should never have owned them in the first place.
Definitely the worth the visit!

This is a must see! Very educational and they should charge more! How they filter the water from the plants and re-use it is amazing! My grandkids thought this was the best part of our trip!

What a fun spot to look at all the gators. They have other animals as well… tortoises, emus, snacks, a shark and many other things. Easy going place that the kids loved. We stayed 30-40 minutes & was very entertained!

Fantastic experience! We got greeted by the cutest cats and friendly workers who gave us a bucket of gator food to feed all the alligators in the park. They had rescue emus, turtles, and even some sharks! The best part was holding a baby alligator 🐊 Special shout out to the helpful worker who saved my bracelet from a gator filled pond! ❤️ You can tell the staff really enjoy what they do!

We loved this place! We were greeted by such friendly tortoises who loved the lettuce and the petting. Then to the snakes, monitors, etc, then over to the tilapia tanks where we tossed our handful of feed and watched them resembling more like piranha in the feeding. Then over to the alligators, crocodiles and more. I highly encourage all to go and support this wonderful venture. Review written by the writer of Last of the Knowers.

Worth the stop. We really enjoyed getting to see all the different reptiles. My daughter's and wife were quite fond of the tortoises. I loved the plants and Gators. The emus were really fun too. If you're considering coming here do yourself a favor and do it. You won't be disappointed.

Our family had a fantastic time here. TONS of gators, turtles and other reptiles. Really friendly folks, too. Well worth the trip and cost of admission.

This was our 2nd visit.
We enjoy feeding (throwing handfuls of purchased chow into the water) the Gators & they always have a few smaller Gators on rotation for visitors to hold and learn about up close.
Cute emu's from an abandoned rescue also live here as do a variety of ducks & awesome turtles & tortoises 🐢

My partner and I visited when it was just above freezing, the gators outside were a bit slow at first. Eventually about noon they started to move around and going for the food we threw. It was a bit confusing walking through and at first we were hesitant if we could walk through certain doors or not, but most areas were accessible to, just not inside the gated areas where the animals were. Overall, we will definitely come back and recommend a visit for anyone passing through with extra time.

Gator farm was awesome and we really enjoyed this experience. Staff was nice and friendly and all the animals were easily visible. Loved meeting Morris and kids got to hold a baby gator.

It's always a good time to visit the alligator farm. Even when it's icy outside, the alligators are provided with warm water to keep from getting too cold. You get to feed the gators and some fish, as well as hold a young gator. It's a good time for families with young kids, and they have a playground for them too.

What a great place to visit. I go every time I am close, the 25 dollars to get in is so worth it when you see the employees working hard to make sure the animals in their care are all good. They even give you a bucket of dog food to feed the beasts. And the tilapia are ready to eat too. They have small bins of fish food too. Thank you for the great day. Kee0 up the gooood work.

A Sanctuary, a working ranch. We have been there years ago and again now. They keep it running with the fees.
I'm a bit worried about the animals and some visitors (especially kids can be very rude), but they do their best to guarantee those creatures a good life. They had a devastating fire in April and lost so many animals. It still breaks my heart to think of it.
Maybe the fish tank could be improved? Looks quite uncomfortable.
Anyway, the workers there do their very best and I really respect that.
It's special, you can touch tortoises and an alligator. The nice guy told me they don't feel uncomfortable.
It's clear: those animals are NOT pets!

Was a great reptile park to visit. The staff was super friendly and you are able to feed the gators. You can tell the animals are loved and the whole park has a very relaxed vibe to it.
The Shrine of the Stations of the Cross, located near the Blood of Christ Mountains, features 15 life-sized statues depicting scenes from Jesus's crucifixion. The sculptures are spread along a 1-mile pathway that offers visitors a chance to take a leisurely walk and reflect on each station. The trail is relatively easy, with some elevation gain, but it provides beautiful views and resting spots along the way.
Easy hike up to the church but the stars of the show are the fabulous 15 stages of the cross Passion) bronze statues. All so expressive and stunning. The views from the top are stunning. Shame there’s no information about the church itself and its origins

This place is great for a little pilgrimage. Moving sculptures and scripture explaining each scene of Jesus's passion. Must start at the bottom accessible from the highway to begin at the 1st Station. You can drive up a dirt road to the chapel where the 15th Station is (Resurrection added) but if you want to do the Stations in order you will have to walk down. The path is gravel, very easy trail and the whole journey is probably less than a half mile.

This place is beautiful. Not a terribly difficult walk, but bring water! Definitely bring a camera. Plan on taking some time to enjoy not only the bronze sculptures, the station plaques, the path, but turn around every now and then and take in the breathtaking scenery of the valley. The church at the top is a sanctuary to cool down before your descent. Not to be missed. This is a treasure.

20-minute climb at a steady walk to view the church. Peaceful beautiful view. The various statues are moving.

I wish I'd had more time to walk all the stations. The crucifixion/resurrection sculptures were beautiful and the chapel had an old-west mission, reverential vibe to it. Great views from the chapel and trail. Will return to catch the whole station trail.
Brian Clepper — Google review
We visited around noon and did not realize the walk would end up ascending 140 ft in elevation. It is a very pleasant hike and easy enough for most people as they have places to sit along the way if needed. The sculptures are incredible and it is worth the visit. The restroom at the top is not functioning so I recommend stopping at the visitor center across the street prior to your visit.

The 3/4 mile walk up to the chapel, viewing the several bronze sculptures of the Stations of the Cross along the path, is very worthwhile and, for many, would be very moving. It's pretty much the thing to do in San Luis. Do it in a cool part of the day as the path is in full sun. The handsome little chapel is very pleasant inside and a nice bonus.
Sometimes...the hunt for various activities pays off. I wasn't aware of a serious adventure like this. This is a serious step back into time.
I have never seen such safety in place. Zero things to fear.
Honestly...we should have done the half day experience. We were exhausted when we finally got to the car. It was a long day.. The train never goes faster than 17 MPH. Yes...the views are one of a kind. Between the animals on the loose and the occasional sole person wandering the wilderness....it is relaxing especially for me. Nothing like the trains I ride in Chicago. The Chicago views can't compete with this experience.
My only complaint is....the stop for lunch. Please put down some iron grate cause walkers struggle to move on rocks.

Lovely fall train ride. A bit pricey considering there was no hot lunch as advertised. Seems there was a kitchen fire just a few days before we went. The did brown bag lunches, turkey sandwich, chips, apple, and some sort of cookie thing. Drink choices were mediocre lemonade and water. The train left the station late on the way out. Our return trip was very slow as the engine seemed to be having an issue. We even had to stop partway back because the engine was over heating. The scenery was exquisite though. I'd go again some day.

The train ride was great. A lot of information. They were very helpful. You didn't feel like you're lost all the time. We Stopped at the midway point to have a buffet lunch, All the aspens tree's were gold.

Did the Antonito Express Half-Day Trip. The train ride was great. Rode in the open car for half the ride. A crew member gives a tour along the route.
The scenery is great. You get great views of the mountains, hills, and valleys along the way.
It can get windy and a little cold climbing the mountains, so you might want to bring a jacket.
The half-day trip only has snacks and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. You might want to bring your own food and drinks.
Definitely worth the price.

This was a full day train ride from Antonito to Osier and back. We went through Toltec Gorge and had a great lunch. We sat in the parlor car and they gave us a nice bag and travel cup. Fem was our server and she was super nice. We really enjoyed this beautiful steam train ride.

This was such a fun experience! We camped the night before and took the bus from Antonito. Definitely recommend starting in Chama since we were so tired in the afternoon and wanted to nap. The whole trip is pretty but I felt better napping while we were in the less pretty sagebrush than I would have in the alpine portion. Our guide on the train was great and knew so much about the area. We will be back!

This was the main objective of our trip out west! The opportunity to ride the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad. What an experience! We believe all railroad travel is good and fun, and ride trains whenever possible, but we are not train enthusiasts or have any knowledge of trains. We think it's fun and enjoyable and this train was all fun, total enjoyment. We had tickets in the parlor car with great views out our window that lowered for fresh air. We were greeted with a nice danish, a bowl of fruit and coffee if wanted. Our car had a dedicated, knowledgeable guide who not only pointed out interesting sights and answered any and all questions, she also served any drink requests that we had, including cocktails if that is what you might desire. The train chugged thru the southern Colorado high plains as it made its way to the mountains and then weaved thru beautiful mountains and valleys with 2 tunnels. The vistas were more beautiful than I could describe. The scenery was breathtaking, and I was humbled at the beauty that lies within our incredible country. A spectacular day of weather on this spectacular train ride and followed with a smooth and comfortable bus ride back to our original departure point! Highly recommended!

This was a great day trip! We stayed in the general/main cabin and it was a nice experience! Very scenic and the guides/volunteers have a lot of great information! The lunch was a big cafeteria style lunch (nothing to write home about, but wasn’t terrible either). The train does turn around at the top so you get to see both sides for the different views on your trip!

Really great experience. Well worth it! You can go out on the observation car and view all the scenery. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Loved our day on the train! The scenery was gorgeous - with the aspen trees turning yellow in the end of September. Saw coyotes and pronghorn antelope. We spent most of the ride in the open air car, so we had fabulous views. The train goes max 12 mph so you’re never wind blown. But you do need sunglasses for the sun and cinders. Staff is very friendly. Everything well organized. Lunch was buffet style and very good. One hint: if you’re looking for coffee and a freshly prepared breakfast burrito before the train departs Antonito, go to the Sinclair gas station.

During our visit to New Mexico and Colorado we rode both the Cumbres and Toltec and the Durango and Silverton Scenic Railroads. For me, the C&T was outstanding. Well worth a none hour flight and a five hour drive!

It's a long day to ride the train to Antonito CO and bus back to Chama NM but we'll worth the time. Since our trip is in the fall the colors were beautiful. Our bus driver, Bus Driver Dave made the trip back go by fast with the information about the area and a joke or two.

A great fall experience. The leaves were beautiful. The buffet at the Osier station was beyond expectations. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was they did not honor my request for seats on the left side of train. We rode from Antonito & the best side of the train is the left side especially if you’re into taking photos. Unfortunately on the day we rode the train it was too cold & windy for me to go to the open air gondola car to take photos. The docent was very friendly & informative. If you want souvenirs buy them in the morning as the gift shops are closed by the time you get back from the bus ride. When you arrive at the end you barely have time to use the restrooms before boarding the buses so there’s no time to shop then.

Was really fortunate to partake in the annual Cumbres & Toltec rail run as part of a photo workshop. We arrived in time for the end of Day 1 and the night photo shoot, which was technically challenging and I've been in the photo industry for 26 years! When the shots finally got nailed down, the final images were immensely satisfying. Such a specific and unique photo experience. Loved it. Our group rode day two on Engine 315. This was my first experience for anything this railroad intensive outside of a museum and, for me, it was a fantastic experience. The volunteers and crew are an absolute wealth of knowledge as are, frankly, the railroad fanatics that joined up. I love people who are passionate about their hobbies and these folks are fully committed, thoroughly obsessed, rail riders. I learned a ton about the history of the C&T, it's overall run from Antonito into Chama, and even a few interesting pieces of deep Americana: the James A Garfield memorial found in the absolute middle of nowhere was a brilliant addition to an already historic run. Look for the petroglyph just a few miles south of Antonito, up the hill on the west side of the track ... And the miner's grave somewhere just before Oshei. Either way: pack a camera with a good long lens because the photo ops are numerous... But benefit from the telephoto compression in a big way. PS the train may come down with a few mechanical issues, as ours did. I see zero reason to get upset: this engine is over 100 years old and runs unbelievably well for all of that. Keep in mind: this is how it was for runners and conductors of their day. Consider it a more authentic experience. Kill the need for a schedule and just enjoy the total feel of it all. 100% recommended.

This was a wonderful full day of beauty and fun. We had an excellent stay at the Victorian B&B the night before and walked about a block to the station. Then started with the bus to the CO train and spent the day with a stop for lunch (included) enjoying the sights coming back to Chama. My husband said this was the highlight of our vacation. Highly recommended. Take the parlor car if you have no kids.
